We booked The Riverside to host a celebration of life (wake) for our mum. Although Ed did not need to book rooms to stay overnight, the hotel staff could not have been more accommodating. The event organiser, Jo, was amazing, incredibly warm and understanding. All of the staff that helped ensure the event went smoothly were wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. Special shout out to Ryan who really ensured we were all well looked after throughout the afternoon. We had an afternoon tea buffet package for 80 people, the food was really good, and all of our dietary needs were met. There was plenty of tea, coffee food, and we were given take away boxes to enjoy food later too! Use of a private bar was appreciated it was well stocked and the bar tender was very friendly and polite. Communication was excellent and all staff were very kind and respectful of the circumstances behind our event. We particularly appreciated that the room was ours for as long as we needed, no feeling of being rushed, we felt very welcome from the point of booking. Excellent value for money, great attention to detail and of course beautiful surroundings. Perfect for the celebration of our beautiful Mum's life. We will definitely use the hotel again when we are in the area. Thank you.

I stayed in this hotel for business for 2 nights. The staff and the rooms are good, breakfast was a little behind - this starts at 7am, however when I came down at 7:15 not all the hot food was ready and there were no plates. Not a great start to the day. My biggest issue was being woken up at 5:30am on the Friday morning by the bin lorry! Beware if you stay on a Thursday night, bin day is Friday. I was woken from a dead sleep by the continual beep, beep, beep as the bin lorry slowly reversed to the front of the building over the gravel car park. Once it finally came to a halt it emptied the wheely bin full of glass. If somehow I had managed to ignore the reversing alarm, the dumping of the glass was impossible to ignore. I don't know how anyone staying in a front facing room slept through this. I had intended to have a lie-in and a leisurely breakfast before my journey home. Unfortunately this was made impossible by the noise. Instead I packed up my things and left as there was no hope of going back to sleep and I wasn't prepared to wait and hour and a half for a breakfast that in all probability wouldn't have been ready on time.

We got married in this hotel so we came back for our wedding anniversary. The view is still absolutely stunning and the refurbishments have taken this hotel to another level. There is ample parking and we were made to feel welcome at reception. We were taken to our room by a pleasant staff member who made us feel very welcome. The room was lovely. Whilst our view was slightly spoilt by numerous air conditioning units there is no complaint to be made as the air con in the room was brilliant and worked really well. Unfortunately for the price of the room the untreated mould in the bathroom was unpleasant and could easily be sorted. The staff were friendly and it was a joy to sit outside with the fabulous view of the cathedral. Breakfast was really nice but at no point did we get spoken too, it would be an idea for guests to be welcomed and informed that you could order tea and a choice of eggs etc. Also we had a full table with cereal bowls and cold breakfast and these were not being cleared efficiently just left until guests left the table. On check out I was intending to mention the mould in the bathroom but we were not asked how our stay had been or any positive communication given, we left both questioning the level of customer service. The staff are pleasant but it needed someone leading the team and making sure the customer service matched the beautiful hotel and it's surroundings.

Stayed here as it was close to Salisbury cathedral and we were attending an event there that evening. Checked in and 10mins later the chamber maid walked in on us which was embarrassing but 30mins later it may have been worse when we were changing. Lovely room with great views of the cathedral. Amenities were fine, bed very comfortable and accommodating for my 6ft 7 husband. They don't offer an evening meal which was fine for us but they do offer a shuttle bus into town from 6pm. I love a cup of tea first thing in the morning and they have facilities in the bedroom but unfortunately there was no milk so I had to wait till breakfast. Breakfast was standard but perfectly acceptable. I feel like we checked in before the room had been fully serviced as they also brought us dressing gowns at a later stage. We enjoyed our stay in all and we would come back.

Just had a wonderful short break in a superking room with superb views over the river and fields to the cathedral and beyond. Everything was very clean, comfortable bed, great shower. All staff were friendly and helpful. Check in and check out quick and easy. Breakfast selection was huge! Bacon was perfect and crispy, and sausages were delicious and well cooked too. Everything was kept topped up and seemed fresh. Before the last croissant was taken, a fresh basket was brought in.

We decided to book in for afternoon tea to celebrate our anniversary & my birthday. We sat outside on the terrace over looking the garden down to the river & the cathedral beyond. A beautiful setting. The tea included 4 different types of sandwiches, fruit & plain scones with jam & cream. A selection of cakes with tea or coffee. You could upgrade fizz or gin & tonic but you had to ask for it rather than it being offered. We really enjoyed the whole food/drink/views. We would go back again. Shame the hotel doesn't do evening meals. The staff were helpful & kept the place to a high standard even though they were very short staffed!

Staff here are wonderful and are why I've rated this property with four stars. However, we were a bit disappointed with our room. I'd booked a Kingsize Riverside Room which on the website described it as ‘Riverside room with king bed. Overlooking our beautiful grounds, the River Nadder and views of Salisbury Cathedral is a fantastic choice for corporate or leisure stays.' I'd specifically asked for a quiet, upper floor room in my booking notes. We were put in a very dark, basement feeling room which was nothing like the Kingsize Riverside Room images on the website. Instead of a bright large window we had a small window and door which opened onto views of the (not quiet) outside bar, a wall, and extractor fans (see photos). Not quite the special experience we were hoping for. After a long journey I was too tired to ask to change. Perhaps double check via a phone call when you book to ensure you aren't disappointed as several of the lawn level rooms have this outlook. Yes you can use the chairs outside the door but you're very near your neighbour and the noise of the extractor fans. The shower was very weak, and I reported problems with water flowing away slowly on my departure. A squeaking toaster machine at breakfast could do with some wd40 to avoid a rather irritating dining experience! At £220+ a night I'd also expect to have water and biscuits replenished by housekeeping. Perhaps I had too high expectations following other reviews, but as someone who travels regularly for work, this hotel at this room rate fell a bit short in comparison with others at a similar level. Staff should however be commended. They are fabulous.

stayed here with my partner from 22nd to 23rd August. While the hotel itself was great my experience was completely ruined at checkout. The way I was spoken to and treated by the staff was entirely unacceptable. I was made to feel like a criminal over a standard checkout procedure. I expect professional and polite customer service, not disrespect. I am deeply disappointed and would not recommend staying here based on how poorly I was treated.

What a wonderful hotel. Location by the river was superb and we had the bonus of the eclipse in the luxurious garden setting. Shuttle in to town for evening meal is a super bonus. Staff super friendly and the rooms are everything you need.

5 out of 5 . Due to a recommendation from a local lady, I visited the Riverside hotel and I had a well priced , tasty lunch in this hotel as an outside guest . The staff were friendly and welcoming. The attractive hotel has a relaxed comfortable vibe with gorgeous views over the river and Salisbury Cathedral . I really enjoyed my visit and if I come back to Salisbury I would definitely come again . Thank you for a relaxing chilled hour

Cannot rate the Riverside Hotel high enough! Jo and her team were brilliant in helping us make our wedding day even more special. Jo, especially made sure everything went smoothly and allowed us to enjoy our day. Beautiful location and the food was out of this world!! If you are thinking of getting married in Salisbury, definitely check out the Riverside Hotel, you won't be disappointed!!

We enjoyed a very pleasant lunch at Riverside today. The food was fine, but what really made the experience special was the beautiful riverside location and the outstanding staff. They kindly produced items for us that were not on the menu, and all at an exceptionally reasonable price. The hotel was busy, with at least one large lunch group being served, yet this had no impact whatsoever on the friendly, efficient service. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would happily return..

Lovely food, very attentive service and superb value

We had a wonderful stay at the Riverside Hotel in Salisbury and only wish we'd booked more than one night. The staff went above and beyond throughout our visit — they accommodated an early check-in when we arrived ahead of schedule, and gave us excellent local dining recommendations that made planning our evening effortless. The hotel itself is a quiet, charming manor house with real character. Our room was spacious and spotless, and the back garden is a real highlight — it overlooks a small river with a lovely view of the cathedral spire in the distance. It's a peaceful spot to relax after a day of sightseeing. Breakfast was very good too, a nice way to start the day before exploring Salisbury. Overall, a genuinely welcoming place to stay with a great location and staff who clearly care about their guests.

Absolutely lovely hotel,we stayed for 1 night as we were going to Salisbury races which was nearby,the setting is pretty and all staff we encountered were genuinely friendly and happy to help,the family room was large and perfectly air conditioned,breakfast before we left was also delicious.

The Riverside is such a lovely, postcard worthy, looking building that one almost envies the family that must have lived here at one point. Set well back from the road (so no road noise) with ample car parking on crunchy gravel and a mini country house feel as you walk through the arched entrance door. At the back of the building, rooms look out over the river and the meadows beyond, taking in the giraffe model / sculpture in the garden (?!) and our room had a mini patio with chairs and table, although there is a large solid gazebo by the riverside with comfortable furniture for an afternoon tea or evening drink. Our room was large and comfortable but, oddly, had no actual windows, with the only natural light coming in through the single door out to the patio. The lighting had been boosted accordingly and we didn't mind too much but it wouldn't have suited everyone. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Guests are provided with a list of suggestions for eating out in the city (there is no dinner service at the hotel) and a very useful shuttle bus is provided, you just queue up by the front door to catch it in to the city and arrange for pick up to come back, either by negotiation with the driver or by ringing Reception. (Please do remember to let Reception know if you end up walking back so that the driver isn't waiting around). Our car remained in the car park during the entirety of our stay since it is so easy and flat to walk into the city, with the choice of either following the main road in or turning away from the city and picking up a footpath across the water meadows; both easy and pleasant walks., although I can't remember whether I saw street lamps on the water meadow footpath which might influence one's decision of an evening. Breakfast in the morning was served just next to Reception - a modest selection of fruit, cereal, breads and yogurt and then hot plates with, unfortunately, the perennial challenge of keeping buffet style breakfast items hot. Guests can order eggs to be cooked to order in the kitchen and many guests seem to be doing this, but one then has to hope that the timing fits in with resupply of the hot trays. A good cooked breakfast is an excellent way of setting one up for a day of being a tourist and something to look forward to and, to be honest, although our experience fulfilled the first criteria, we didn't feel it was in any way a special experience. But that was the only negative of what was otherwise a very pleasant stay; Salisbury offers much for the visitor and, if staying here, one can partake of it easily on foot from a comfortable base.

It is almost 100% BUT 1) the breakfast coffee is awful 2) the bath is dangerous lacking a safety bar. 3) and the bedside lights are only worked from the wall. Great location, great staff but no brandy glasses!

From start to finish our experience was exemplary. Booking in with Alice and then everything we needed or asked for was dealt with brilliantly by Victoria. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room overlooking the gardens, river & view of the cathedral was fabulous & the extra details of flowers, petals & chocolates for our anniversary was a lovely touch. The buffet breakfast was absolutely brilliant & delicious, so much choice and all very fresh and tasty.. although we both need a crash diet now!! The room was fabulously clean & tidy and the huge bed was extremely comfortable. With only a short pleasant walk into the town centre this is also a great location for discovering the town, although we were also offered a shuttle bus to take & pick us up in the evening. All of the staff were brilliant including reception, bar, waiting and the lovely cleaners. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay again.. 5 stars!! Thank you!

This friendly hotel set in beautiful grounds, ideally located with easy access to Salisbury centre. Clean and comfortable bedrooms with air conditioning. A delicious breakfast is available each day. Excellent staff in all areas and a great welcome from Victoria on reception . We highly recommend this hotel and we will certainly be returning.

The riverside is the complete package! Lovely helpful receptionists, the cleanest rooms we've ever stayed in anywhere, friendly chatty bar staff and a view to die for overlooking nearby Salisbury cathedral . An easy walk into town but also runs a shuttle bus in the evenings. The air conditioning is a huge bonus ! Can't wait to go back !

I stayed for two nights whilst attending a friend's wedding. Upon arrival I was welcomed, informed of the available amenities and facilities, checked in and shown to my room. The room comfortably with great view of the ground. During my entire stay the staff were professional, helpful and authenticly friendly. We were a large group and quite lively. The staff attended to us and joined in the banter. The meals prepared for the occasion were delicious and presented with care and attention. After I checked out the realised I had not packed my keys. When I called reception they knew exactly what had happened. They arranged for the keys to be sent back which was a weight off my mind. I'll visiting again soon. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

I don't normally write reviews but we've had such a lovely stay, albeit for one night only - an overnight stop before our cruise from Southampton. Beautiful setting, the river at the end of the huge gardens and lots of wildlife, watching the kayakers float on by. Very friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was lovely and plentiful. The rooms are spacious, very clean. When we checked in, we were taken to our rooms rather than having to find them ourselves. There is also a free shuttle bus in the evenings to and from Market Square, an added bonus and the driver was so friendly. The only negative (and a very small negative) was the hairdryer in the room which was a travel hairdryer and small, fine for me as I have short hair, but, doesn't detract from all of the positives. If we're ever looking for somewhere to stay in the area again, we will definitely rebook.

Just returned from a touring holiday which included stays at two five star Hotels and this establishment. This Hotel obviously did not have the amenities of those other premises such as a Spa, lifts to rooms, extensive grounds etc but it did surpass those other Hotels in something far more important, which is the warmth, the friendliness and the ambience created by the staff which was excellent throughout our visit. Those assets were exceptional and all members of staff, particularly those at reception that we encountered are to be congratulated and thanked for ensuring that our visit was so thoroughly enjoyed. The riverside and cathedral views, the verandah, the complimentary shuttle bus to and from the centre of town, the pleasant room allocated, the overall comfortable and relaxing environment and the substantial available car parking all contributed to making our stay enjoyable but the staff and their welcome were the most memorable thoughts that we will retain, thank you. We were traveling around England and initially planned to stay one night. We changed that immediately when we arrived. Decided to stay three more nights at because the hotel surrounded us for the furst moment. The hotel and the surroundings were exceptionally beautiful and the atmosphere was enveloping. The staff was exceptional nice. This hotel will undoubtedly become our first choice in this area.

Lovely hotel, immaculate rooms and friendly staff. Really enjoyed our stay.

We stayed for two nights in room 7 which has a spectacular view of the cathedral. The hotel does not have a lift so this room on the second floor may not be suitable for everyone. The room is comfortable and well furnished. We enjoyed the breakfasts, and as the hotel does not serve evening meals they run a shuttle bus into town (check this is available). To walk to the Cathedral takes about 15 minutes. Everyone was friendly and helpful and we really enjoyed our stay.

Stayed at this hotel with family for a short break. The hotel is excellent, clean and well run. The staff are efficient and very friendly. We had a large river view room which was clean and looked like it had been recently refurbished. The hotel is in easy walking distance to the cathedral and the town. Its position is perfect on the side of the river with beautiful grounds and a large car park. We had breakfast which was one of the best we've had in a UK hotel. We would recommend this hotel and hope to return there in the future.

We spent three nights at the Riverside and would recommend and return. Room was clean, bed was comfortable and location allowed for an easy walk to the cathedral and great pub options. Staff was very helpful and accommodating.

Plenty of Parking. No restaurant. They offer evening shuttle service to downtown restaurants. It worked. Room a bit small but with a good view.

What a beautiful hotel! The staff were amazing and so friendly. Very clean indeed and the best breakfast ever! Proper sausages! We were very near to town and it was such a lovely walk. We would definitely recommend it and will be staying there again. They even have a driver that will drive you to town and pick you up again if you choose to go out for a meal. Fabulous 👌

Visited Easter weekend while on a walk around Salisbury. Had tea and coffee on the spacious and sunny terrace looking down to the river and across the water meadows to the Cathedral. Delicious cake - moist carrot cake and an Italian style lemon cake - and very good coffee. Other half very happy with the plentiful tea. Very good value at £6 a head. Lovely experience- helped by great service from the friendly bar staff.

We had a lovely stay. Staff were attentive. Victoria on reception was particularly helpful when I needed to change rooms.

As part organiser of a group of 25 we had liaised with the hotel at various times over a few months. The administration is extremely efficient & friendly & it seemed no request was too difficult to achieve. All participants agreed the bedrooms were excellent, food good but overall the staff worked really hard to make the 2 night stay a calm but active experience. Organising somewhere new can be a worry, but no worries at the Riverside. Thank you so much.

Brilliant hotel for sight seeing in Salisbury. Good rooms and brilliant staff. They offer a shuttle service after 6pm to take and collect you in the centre if you don't feel like the 10 mins walk to and fro. Brilliant idea! Good breakfast too with lovely views all around, it suited us very well to be just outside the town so we could see all of Salisbury centre without staying in a noisy centre. Free, easy parking.

Went for lunch with my friend. We both had Lasagne. Followed by Lemon drizzle cake. Both were dry as a basket. You cannot really go wrong with lasagne!!! unless you go to the Riverside. The cake had obviously been made several days ago. As it was a treat from my friend neither of us said anything. When it came to paying, we could not pay with cash. There is a reason the Kings head is on bank notes. We will strongly not be recommending it . So upsetting.

Surpassed my expectations! What a lovely hotel. I stayed for a night with my daughter in a twin room. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, the room was spotlessly clean with very comfortable beds. We enjoyed a drink in the bar room with delightful views across the water meadow to Salisbury cathedral. The walk into town for dinner was a leisurely 20 minutes. They had a shuttle bus (smart VW transporter) which collected us from the Market square which took 5 minutes from calling the hotel to pi king us up. Breakfast was very good, excellent eggs! crispy bacon and a range of buffet style continental bits to choose from. I would highly recommend this for a stay in Salisbury, very reasonably priced too!

Beautiful hotel right on the ricer in Salisbury. The staff were really helpful as we arrived early in the morning and they kept our bags for the entire day while we toured the cathedral and Stonehenge. Room had a beautiful view which we enjoyed during our brief visit. Reasonably for minus one star is the shower is very small and somewhat difficult to manage. Bed was not the most comfortable and pillows are tired. Overall a wonderful hotel and should we go back to Salisbury we will look to stay here again.

Lovely hotel, good parking, surpassed expectations. Position to Salisbury town centre is excellent, all within 15 minute walk. Nice decor, very clean. Friendly, efficient staff. Excellent breakfast, produce fresh, prompt service. Although no evening meals, the hotel provides a free shuttle bus service into town until about 9.45 pm return. Bedroom very comfortable, tea & coffee etc and Air-conditioning. The lunch on the terrace overlooking the river and fields beyond looked very inviting complete with a nice surprise on the lawn! Would we stay there again? Absolutely.

We highly recommend The Riverside Hotel. The rooms are superb, clean and comfortable, the breakfast was amazing, with a great choice of food, continental or traditional food available in a relaxed setting overlooking the Cathedral. A wonderful way to start the week.

Wonderful staff, beautiful room. We had a perfect view of Salisbury Cathedral from our room. Huge bathtub. Very quiet. Quick walk into Salisbury.

Stayed four days and most welcoming and comfortable beds. The breakfast and breakfast staff were extremely accommodating and eggs are prepared on order. Front desk staff also were Most friendly.

Our 2nd stay at this fabulous hotel, brilliant location, fantastic veiw from the room , a short walk into town or a evening shuttle bus ( brilliant) the hotel offers lunch but not dinner but so many restaurants in town...the breakfast was 2nd to none...freshly cooked to order eggs ( fried or poached) all staff very professional....we will definitely be returning.

Myself and my wife walked down to sample their lunch menu and was pleasantly surprised. Lunch for £10, with a selection of family favourites. The meal was obviously cooked to order and excellent for £10 and they served Doombar, icing on the cake.

We were meeting friends to stay for a visit. I thought that my friend had booked for us all but discovered on arrival that she only booked the 1 room. Victoria was amazing. she calming reviewed the situation made a few changes & booked us in. I was very inpressed with her handling & professionalism. The shuttle was amazing to take each evening to take & collect. All the staff were friendly & helpful during the whole stay. The rooms were clean perhaps the lighting could be better in the room.

We enjoyed an excellent two day stay at the Riverside. The hotel is modern and clean throughout. Staff are friendly and efficient. Good free car parking. Adequate and confortable bedroom. No problems at all.

What a lovely hotel! This stay was booked as a Christmas gift for my partner, and it certainly did not disappoint. We received a very warm welcome from Nora at check-in. She was friendly and incredibly patient, especially while handling a somewhat difficult guest ahead of us. Despite the situation, she remained professional and cheerful throughout, which immediately set a positive tone for our stay. We were delighted to be upgraded to a room with a beautiful view of the cathedral and the flooded meadows. It was peaceful, spacious, and very comfortable. We did turn off the air conditioning as we found it a little noisy, but I imagine it would be much appreciated during the warmer summer months. The bathroom was spotless and appeared to have been recently refurbished, which was a lovely touch. We also enjoyed a few drinks in the bar, where the barman was friendly and attentive, regularly checking that we had everything we needed. Another pleasant surprise was the shuttle bus service into town. I hadn't realised this was available when booking and had been happy to walk, but the shuttle was a fantastic added bonus. Kev, who drove us into town on the Friday, was lovely and very knowledgeable. There was truly nothing to fault with our stay — it was a thoroughly pleasant and relaxing experience. We would happily return!

Premier Inn is our normal ‘go-to' chain; very good value, decent breakfast and you know what you're going to get. However familiarity can get a bit dull so decided to try something and somewhere new. Glad we did. Best Western at Salisbury is a great hotel; large room overlooking the wetlands; lovely staff and excellent breakfast. Large free car park (although not wheeled suitcase friendly) and about a 10-15 minute walk into Salisbury. Would definitely recommend

Really genuine helpful and friendly staff, shuttle bus into the City Centre, only 25 minutes walk. Good breakfast and team let us leave car as we explored the City the next day. Would recommend the Hotel

What a fantastic gem! Wonderfully attentive staff from start of our stay to the end of our stay. Welcoming, attention to detail in every area and the most comfortable night I have spent in a long time. Breakfast this morning was delicious and hubby and I will definitely be visiting again! Although we didn't use the shuttle bus they provide into Salisbury city centre we thought that was a nice touch but the walk was a beautiful walk if you are able to manage it.

We have just spent two nights at this amazing hotel and honestly couldn't have had a better stay. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and we had a kettle with hot chocolate, tea and coffee and bottled water. The breakfast is superb with lots of choice, we didn't feel rushed whilst eating either.It was our anniversary whilst staying and the team put some chocolates and a card in our room which was a lovely touch. Everyone working there is genuinely lovely, friendly and went over and above for us during our stay. The EV charging points were great for us and we were pleasantly surprised with the use of the shuttle bus to town and restaurant recommendations provided by the hotel. A special thanks to Ryan. The next time we come to Salisbury, we would be straight back here.

This place did look out of my price range just by the stunning photos and its location but Best Western had a sale on , it was out of season and rooms available. So I was able to get an extra special hotel at a very good price. It's actually not in Salisbury centre but a water meadow away , set a long way back from the road and with no noise and is very quiet especially from the large garden which backs onto the water . In this case a LOT of water as there was extensive flooding but it's what water meadows are designed for so it added excitement. There's parking , a great breakfast, a bar and terrace with sweeping views across to the cathedral and a 15 minute walk in to town . My King size room was double aspect with a view , the shower was hot and the bed ginormous and I slept like a dream . Oh and there's air conditioning and very efficient heating. I couldn't fault it . Ok if I could it would only be the slightly short bath with no head room to layback BUT that would be it . NOTHING ELSE……👍😎

Superb experience, from the moment I walked through the doors, their was a sign on the roadside saying Tea and Cake £6. The staff were extremely pleasant, especially the lady who had just moved back from Dubai,(Air Hostess skills showed through) and the Gentleman behind the counter, will definitely tell all my associates. Lovely weekend in the Riverside Hotel . As a Best Western we were expecting the place to be a little old fashioned but quite the opposite. Huge big modern room overlooking a river and meadows and lots of sheep and swans for company which was just beautiful. Buffet breakfast was plentiful and very relaxing and staff were very efficient and friendly without being intrusive. Locality wise we were a short walk through the beautiful Salisbury cathedral grounds to the town centre which we did twice each day as there was nothing on in the hotel on the evening. They do not serve dinner nor do they have any entertainment. We don't want bingo or a rock band but a singer or a pianist and a light snack or sandwich offer would have been perfect . A missed opportunity I think as guests were all going elsewhere to spend their money . You are allowed to order in a takeaway to the lounge but not our thing . Therefore I mark my experience as a 4 .

Very comfortable hotel. Check in process was handled efficiently and the hotel gave us a listing of recommended restaurants in the centre of Salisbury. We made use of the free shuttle into town which was very useful. Breakfast the following day was of good quality with a range of options available. Hotel is located 15 minutes walk from the centre of Salisbury with extensive parking at the property. A lovely hotel and would recommend.

I just wanted to add our recommendation for this lovely hotel. We were having a pub lunch with friends in Newbury and thought it might be a nice idea to travel on to Salisbury and visit the cathedral. So just a one night stay. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our ground floor room with a lovely view towards the river (flooded) and cathedral. We went to Evensong at the cathedral (5.30 pm a d well worth doing) and back to the hotel for a warming drink in their friendly a d welcoming bar. We slept well in the comfy bed. The room was quiet. Breakfast had an excellent choice of dishes with a welcoming and efficient manager. It was a brief experience at The Riverside.but thoroughly enjoyable. We highly recommend.

A lovely hotel around 1 mile from the centre of Salisbury (a nice walk on a Summer's day, but not at the end of January!) with plenty of free parking. All the staff were cheerful, courteous and helpful. Our room was exceptionally clean and with an extremely comfortable bed. The view across the (flooded) river was wonderful, and very peaceful. Breakfast was very tasty, and there was plenty of choice. We only stayed one night, having been to the wonderful Motown Show at The Playhouse, but would have been very happy to stay longer!

This is a charming atmospheric hotel situated a couple of miles outside the city centre and with plenty of free parking spaces. Whilst there is no lift it was easy to obtain a ground floor room when booking. The staff were extremely efficient, welcoming and pleasant and were very helpful with advice on where to go in Salisbury and where to eat. There is a free shuttle service to and from Salisbury city centre that runs until 9.30pm and by arrangement with Reception. The room was very comfortable and clean with an efficient shower. The hotel was pleasantly decorated throughout with a nod to Salisbury's history. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

We stayed three nights and booked a king room with a view - we had a lovely view of the river and cathedral (room 33, if I recall). A comfortable room with a couple of minor issues: there wasn't any hair conditioner in the shower and the towel warmer did not work. The staff brought conditioner to the room, but the towel warmer was an electrical issue that could not be fixed during our stay. The staff was extremely helpful in providing details on the laundromat in town and the phone number of the hotel shuttle that we could call to bring us back from the city center after our dinner out; that all went seamlessly. The breakfast was the best we had during our vacation: made to order eggs, delicious croissants, and many other items from which to choose including yogurt, fresh fruit, juices, etc. We attended Salisbury Cathedral's Darkness to Light event Friday night, when we returned around 8:30pm, the shuttle couldn't accommodate our dinner plans but we were able to order from Grillado (recommend) and had it delivered to the hotel; we ate in the lounge and the staff provided plates and silverware, which was very kind of them. The next evening the shuttle wasn't available at all. Since we had been walking most of the day, we again ordered delivery to the hotel - this time Thai Sarocha (recommend), again the staff kindly provided plates and silverware as we ate in the lounge. The hotel is located within walking of the Cathedral and city center. We also enjoyed walking the trail along the Harnham Water Meadows. There is plenty of free parking available.

we stayed here about three years ago and had a lovely stay we were visiting salisbury for just one night so chose the the riverside again Once again our stay was excellent, the room was lovely with an amazing view across the meadows to the cathedral.the breakfast was great and cooked to perfection. but the thing that stands this hotel above the rest is it's staff .each and every member that we met went above and beyond to make our short stay memorable. i really cannot recommend this hotel highly enough enough

Fabulous location, amazing staff and check-in and then escorted to our room. Stayed in King Classic room that was delightful. Honestly if you're staying in Salisbury this is the place to stay. Only a few minutes walk to the Cathedral and town centre. Lots of car parking and very warm and homely welcome. Breakfast was home cooked and plentiful with lots of choice and fresh eggs anyway you'd like them. Lovely touch with chilled Prosecco at breakfast also.

What a find! Following a long journey we were warmly welcomed by receptionist Anna who also took us to our room. The room was spacious with a nice view over the lawn towards the river. We had a comfortable nights sleep in the king size bed. The room was fully equipped and the bathroom had all we needed - would have preferred a walk in shower but maybe that's being a bit too picky. Breakfast was self service with eggs cooked to order. There was plenty of choice and excellent quality. Service was super, nothing was too much trouble. In summary this was an excellent hotel in beautiful surroundings combined with equally excellent customer service and all for a very reasonable price.

Experience was Excellent. Fabulous team of staff. Would return anytime. The staff could not do enough for us. So slick & super organised.

We stayed while visiting the city and cathedral It's only a short walk which was ideal The staff at reception were welcoming The rooms are very comfortable the whole premises is kept well decorated The only downsides are breakfast time was a bit of a farce we asked the young waiting chap for scrambled eggs which never arrived!!! Hate to think what it's like on busy periods.. The other was the bottled water in the rooms the lid had mould on the inside of the lids ( nothing a bit of Milton or bleach wouldn't sort) not a problem for us as we take our own bottled water Will definitely return Thank you

Lovely hotel on the outskirts of Salisbury. Comfortable bed, nice breakfast and friendly and professional staff. Special shout out to Freya and Jason the shuttle bus driver.....yes, don't worry about the distance from the local restaurants - they'll drop you and pick you up for free. Will definitely visit again. Lunchtime drink and sandwich in The Haunch of Venison, followed by dinner at Tinga. Very different establishments, but both worthy of a visit.

Handy location, lovely fresh and properly cleaned rooms (I even enjoyed a bath), very comfortable bed, friendly staff, had all the peace and quiet i needed for my stay and i even received a free upgrade to a king river view room which had the most spectacular views of the cathedral, water meadows and river. A very relaxing place to stay and great value.

Very friendly staff and a comfortable, modern clean bedroom. The breakfast was excellent and, for me, the provision of EV chargers that worked were a major attraction and meant that I returned to stay the night for a second time on my way home after a holiday in the West country. I walked into town via the water meadow which was delightful returning via the Cathedral close.

Stayed at this lovely hotel for a long weekend and can't recommend it enough. The rooms look to have been recently renewed. The hotel staff made it - everyone from reception to bar and restaurant were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. Welcome drink in the bar was a nice surprise. They operate a shuttle bus into town in the evenings which worked really well for us Really great experience

Our room at the Riverside faces the cathedral in the distance and has a lovely view of the spire—and sheep and swans in the water meadows. It's about a 15-minute walk up into the main part of town. (We stayed in Salisbury 8 years ago at the Red Lion Inn in the middle of things; the ambience here is completely different. Very pastoral and peaceful.) Walking back in the evening, it could be pretty dark, so take a flashlight with you. The room here was pretty nice, although there was very little room to put our toiletries in the bathroom. On the other hand, the bathroom mirror has a built-in nightlight that we can set on various colors, such as red, blue, green, or white. Breakfast at the Riverside was good, and served buffet-style. Scrambled eggs, bacon/ham, English breakfast items, croissants, fruit, juice, etc. The breakfast room and bar overlook the meadows, so it is all very pleasant. No elevator, if that makes a difference to anyone.

My husband, son, daughter-in-law, and I stayed one night at The Riverside prior to touring Stonehenge. I don't often write reviews, but I knew I wanted to write one about our stay. They were SO accommodating, friendly, and helpful. It was the evening of my son/daughter-in-law's 1-year wedding anniversary and I had called ahead to ask if there was something special the "hotel" could do. I was able to arrange for a bottle of champagne and chocolates to be waiting in their room for them when we arrived. Everything about the place and the staff was positive. Rooms were very nice, very clean, and large. There was a wonderful breakfast. Nice bar. I highly recommend this place and would return to it in a heartbeat (should I return to England on a future vacation).

Absolutely amazing experience, the lady on reception was so friendly and helpful it was so lovely of her to carry my bag to our room. A lovely bonus welcome drink upon arrival which is a fantastic touch, the bar was extremely relaxed and the lady behind the bar was lovely and friendly. We will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful stay here! Rooms are completely renovated, clean, comfortable and spacious. Staff is wonderful. We did not have a vehicle and used their shuttle into town for dinner. The driver was prompt and friendly. It's about 1/2 hour taxi ride to Stonehenge and you can walk to Salisbury Cathedral. Breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend this property.

Plenty of free parking. Staff were available, cheerful, friendly and helpful. A free drink was a welcome surprise. The location was ideal for Salisbury Cathedral and the city centre, an easy 15 minute walk. The room was clean, the bed was large and comfortable. Shower over the bath. Breakfast was very good indeed.

We spent a night here because we needed to be in Salisbury early the next morning. Everything was perfect ! All the staff were amazing. We enjoyed a complimentary drink on the terrace and enjoyed the views. The room was spacious and clean. We couldn't fault anything !

Well located hotel, excellent views of the Salisbury cathedral and very comfortable rooms which were clean and hygienic. They provided on arrival and complementary drink and showed you the room. The hotel staff were very helpful and had a lot of local knowledge on where to go around Salisbury. The hotel is within walking distance to see Salisbury cathedral and the Magna Carta. The breakfast was buffet style with a great selection of cereals and fruits.

We arrived very tired after a bad traffic run from Cornwall delighted to get a room. The receptionist Anna was v helpful and Sweet. Jaa an ck in the bar couldn't do enough for us. Breakfast was amazing all the staff bent over backwards.a great experience I will come again. View exceptional all excellent excellent excellent!!!

Great place to stay for a visit to Salisbury. The location is second to non. 15 minutes walk to the city centre. Views from the garden across the river to the Cathedral are spectacular. Rooms spacey and spotlessly clean. Staff always eager to help, never without a big smile. Generous breakfast with REAL coffee !! I wish we could have stayed longer.

Such a wonderful hotel our room was beautiful with a patio door onto a lovely patio area with views of the Avon and Salisbury Cathedral we were in room 9 only down side our patio was shared with the room next door and we had children and adults walking across patio to get onto the path to the grassed area that could see in our room so no real privacy unless closed curtains. Staff were lovely and very accommodating at all times I would definitely book again just put off by lack of privacy which could be easily resolved by putting mirroring on the windows so you can see out but no one can see in 👍👍

We recenly experiences the absolute pleasure of a stay at the riverside. From the welcoming arrival, through the style, cleanliness and comfort to what must be one of the most special views in Britain. The quality and presentation of food was exceptional. You may have gathered,we were delighted and highly recommend a stay.

From the booking experience, arrival, room conditions, helpful and friendly staff this was a wonderful overnight stay. Gorgeous location next to the river with an easy walk to Salisbury Cathedral. Plenty of parking, on bus route R5, with a free shuttle bus in the evening as there is no restaurant. This suited us as we like to choose where we eat. All the staff went out of their way to help and make the stay wonderful. We will return again.

This was an amazing stay! The staff was so helpful, and kind. Rooms were clean, and the view was amazing!! Highly recommended.

What do you want from a hotel? Friendly, efficient staff. Very clean room. Location. Fantastic shower. Comfy bed. Great breakfast. Parking. This place has it all in spades. Should we ever return to Salisbury we will stay nowhere else. A real find.

A excellent hotel with lovely grounds over looking the river and cathedral. Rooms suitably decorated for the character of the hotel and very comfortable. Enjoyed the grounds with a cold beer taking in the views across the river to the Cathedral. Salisbury is only a short walk in either direction from the hotel to dine and all the other amenities it offers. A free shuttle bus is offered in the evening. Breakfast was buffet style with a wide range of choices and was continually topped up by staff. Car park more than adequate for the number of guest. All staff were welcoming and helpful. We will look to stop for a couple of days when next in the area.

We LOVED our time at this hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful which really made the stay. It has a fantastic location for a lovely walk into Salisbury but remaining with a countryside feel. Our room was great as we had a door that opened straight onto the lawn down to the river, beautiful! The complimentary drink of choice at the hotel bar was a lovely touch too. We will be booking again and recommend it to others.

Luxurious B&B just a stone's throw from Salisbury town centre. We were greeted by a receptionist and escorted to our spacious abd comfy room and given a voucher for a complimentary glass of wine to have on the terrace. The hotel's driver took us to town for dinner, and picked us up again, free of charge, a real surprise and treat. Great breakfast with efficient service, and gluten free is well catered for Would highly recommend!

Had a wonderful stay. Extremely friendly and welcoming staff throughout the whole hotel. Glorious views from the rear rooms. Beds and pillows very comfortable. Room was well equipped with very good A/c. Breakfast was very good. Bar is a lovely place and good selection and quality drinks . Don't be put off by the hotel not having a restaurant, the shuttle into town that they provide worked really well.

We had a family gathering of 27 who arrived in the early afternoon, we had sandwiches and drinks at 4 pm and then a formal dinner at 7 pm The event ended at 11 pm. We were fortunate to have excellent weather. The facilities were extremely good wit respect to the location, views over the garden, river adjacent yo the garden and the Cathedral in the background. The service, quality of foo and refreshments was excellent. The staff were attentive, friendly and efficient. Manu stayed overnight finding the rooms comfortable and with air conditioning made for a very comfortable stay. The buffet breakfast the next morning was plentiful and well laid out. In Summarry the whole event was extremely successful, all enjoyed it and were complimentary about the hotel, location and facilities. Jo, the Events Manager, was a pleasure to deal with from the original viewing to the final confirmations of numbers, food, room bookings etc.

Great hotel with friendly and welcoming staff comfortable bed and lovely location on the river. the decor is soft muted colours making it feel very inviting.

Wow ! What a wonderful experience from start to finish! Lovely spacious car park , extremely friendly and knowledgeable reception staff and a beautifully clean room with fabulous views. The shuttle service into town was very welcome on an extremely hot evening …Jason dropped us right outside the restaurant that we'd booked and when we were ready to go back a quick phone call to the hotel and he was there to pick us up within minutes! The hotel is within 20 minutes walk from the cathedral which is well worth a visit. The hotel bar and terrace have amazing views over the lawn down to the river again with friendly staff . Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and we're already planning our next visit!

This hotel has Manor House kerbside appeal with easy parking combined with a riverbank views of Salisbury as Constable composed it with the Cathedral commanding. Only a 25 minute stroll across the water meadows to the city or by pavement in 15 striding out. To and fro comfortably. Inside the staff are universally warm and welcoming including the offer of a welcome drink. We enjoyed a relaxed buffet style breakfast with plenty of choice and copious top ups. Our second floor bedroom was immaculate, comfortable and neat. The riverside view a real pinch yourself moment. Came away with fond memories of exploring Salisbury's on foot from our comfortable base.

The hotel went above and beyond to accommodate me with my HGV, very appreciated. The stay was short and sweet but would definitely return for another visit when in Salisbury again

Breakfast was superb; fresh fruit and warm bread, good coffee and everything hot when you wanted it to be. Well staffed and friendly. Situation perfect for Salisbury. A lovely terrace, lawn and lounge overlooking the river and quality furnishings and bedding. Excellent parking with EV chargers.

A weird place to stay, the restaurant does not serve dinner, so if you arrive late you have to order deliveroo. The bar man is not friendly, the whole place felt hostile. The bathrooms did not have body cream, the water smelt off, like it has been in the recycled bottle for months.

Very enjoyable stay. Stunning views of the Cathedral and river. We found the staff exceptionally good and clearly they worked as a team. Room was comfortable, warm and clean with a nice view. Also a good location for getting to other places in Wiltshire.

We had requested a quiet room on the side of the hotel. We most definitely got that! The room was comfortable, quiet, roomy....and we had an amazing view of the Avon river and the tower of Salisbury Cathedral. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Because of an early tour one morning and an early train another morning, we unfortunately were able to have the included breakfast only once, but it was very good. The staff at the bar gave us extra packets of instant coffee and cocoa plus non-dairy milk for me that we were able to use on those two early mornings (our room had an electric tea kettle and also cookies). It took about 15-20 minutes tops to walk to the center of Salisbury, and the cathedral is even closer. We liked being able to walk everywhere yet have a quiet and relaxing place to stay and sleep. It was perfect for us.

Lovely room and garden but no restaurant and absolutely no toiletries are provided in the room not even soap in the toilet,which was a bit of an issue as we were only staying one night and even the cheapest hotels provide soap! we had to ask for toiletries and were later given a tiny soap. Won't be staying again, which is a shame as it could gave been a nice stopover.
