We have stayed at this hotel every October for the last 8 years and this year was wonderful as always. Our room was in the Ontario building facing the lake so the view was spectacular. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The breakfast had lots of choices and was very good. The front desk staff are very friendly and helpful. The ferry docks are very close and it's a comfortable drive to Whitefish Point, Tahquamenon Falls and the Soo.
We stayed there as a family while we toured parts of the Upper Peninsula. The staff and overall hotel were excellent. Our only complaint was the mattress was very hard and neither my wife nor I could get comfortable on it. Our kids had no issues sleeping on their beds. The buildings are not connected, but they have a shuttle golf cart that will take you to and from breakfast. I'm not sure the best way to travel to and from the pool. Either way, it was still a very enjoyable experience for all of us.
Very, very nice property. Our room was very clean and fresh. Heads-up to new visitors. The rooms are not attached to the main lobby. Don't unload all your luggage and stuff prior to checking in. You may have to load back up and drive to the unit where your room is located. This ill be my first pick when staying in St. Ignace!!
Nice hotel. Has a resort feel. Clean rooms and a nice free breakfast buffet. Our room had a very nice view of the lake. On the weekend we were there, they had a bon fire and fireworks. Great hotel for the families with kids. Very close to the ferry to Mackinaw. The room with the lake view was very nice. Staying in one of the other buildings would not have made such a nice stay.
Stopped at the Best Western Harbour Pointe during a trip across the UP. It provided a great place to stop and rest. Room was clean and in good repair. The hotel large, spread across multiple buildings. The one I stayed in was perpendicular to the water, meaning my view was mostly of the parking lot - but that's fine, I didn't pay extra for a view, just wanted to point out that not every room has stellar lakefront views - be sure to ask if this is important to you.
While traveling to visit some friends in N.Y. we decided to stay in St. Ignace, Mi. Have stayed at other B.W.'s which all were good but this one surpassed them all, from the check in to the check out. Rooms were very clean(even the tv remote was sanitized and in a bag), bed was comfortable, bathroom was very large. a nice sitting area to watch television with lounge type chair, two other chairs with a little table and a desk for your computer use. The breakfast has many choices from waffles, eggs, cereal, biscuits and gravy, fruit, juice, pastry, meats and more. I would highly recommend this hotel to anybody going to the St. Ignace, Mackinaw Island area.
Stayed in this great hotel, unfortunately only one short night - as we'd have loved to stayed a bit longer. Hotel is probably one of the larger ones in St. Ignace, but is very welcoming and friendly. While it has several buildings on the property, I never felt like it was that big. They also have a golf cart on the property which can be and is used for guests going from one area to another if desired. We never used it but saw several take advantage of it. Our room was a corner suite in the building that faces the Lake. We had a view of Mackinac Island, which was wonderful. It also looked out over the nightly bonfire area. While we didn't attend the bonfire, it seemed very popular with smores materials for all and a nice area. The room (see pictures) was HUGE - even for a suite at this level of hotel. Two separate areas, 2 TV's, nice sitting area & pull out sofa in living area -- as well as the Jacuzzi tub. Our bed was very comfortable and the hotel was very quiet - although we were on the 3rd (top) floor and in the corner so noise over head or next door. Staff at front desk were very welcoming and friendly, as well as helpful when it came to purchasing discount tickets (purchase at hotel for the discount) for the Ferry (we used Sheppler's and would highly recommend) as well as the Mackinac Island Carriage Tour (which we would also highly recommend). Breakfast was busy, but well stocked and great choices. Dining area was packed so we sat on the outside patio area (partially enclosed) even though it was colder. They could use a bit more dining space but selection was vast for hotel provided breakfasts. During our stay (apparently at certain times of the year), there are little flying gnats/bugs that are everywhere and seek out light. So they recommend no leaving of the patio screen door open and keeping drapes closed etc. so as not to attract them (which is a bit of a bummer since you're looking at Mackinac). While they were all over the exterior doors and into our building lobby area (seeking out the lights), we never had a problem with them near our room door. We did as they instructed with the screen door, lights, drapes, etc. However, the few small "issues" mentioned would not be enough for me to drop this rating. We will definitely stay there again if we are in the St. Ignace area!!
I would like everyone to know that at Best Western Harbour Pointe we always stay there it's Clean & Comfy and the Views are Beautiful . Looking forward to coming back and seeing the Dream Team! Sincerely The Allens Lansing, MI
Great place on a large beautiful piece of lakefront property, about a minutes drive from Shepler's Ferry Dock. Hotel is comprised of several newer buildings and one older motor lodge style building. Our room was in the older building which was initially a bit of a disappointment, but turned out to be just fine. Room was very clean, and we were located close to the beach and fire ring. Around 7:30 a fire is lit in the fire ring and marshmallows supplied! Plenty of wood left for guests to keep the fire burning for hours. We met a few nice families there and enjoyed visiting with them. It's a short walk up the hill to breakfast, but the hotel has a golf cart patrolling the buildings to save you the walk if desired. Hotel staff was very accommodating. We would recommend this hotel to anyone!
Awesome place to stay. This is the 3rd year that we have stayed here for the "Trek" event and have already pre-booked for next year. The room that we had, this year, was newly renovated. The only negative, that we would have, is that the room seemed a little pricey. But, we didn't check around on other's charges because we love it here.
We had a ground floor room overlooking the lake, and the entire motel overlooks the bay. Service was excellent, and there were two pools, one indoor, and the other outdoor with a glass surround to block off any wind but allow unhindered views. I only wish we could have stayed longer!
Very comfortable and clean room. Rooms in several buildings but shuttle to take you to breakfast location which was a good free breakfast. Close to ferry to Mackinac Island. Very helpful staff. Stairs to upper floors little unhandy for large suitcases and handicapped people.
My wife and I (age 65) recently stayed one night here while on our first trip to the UP of Michigan. We had a nice room with partial view. The hotel, which has 150 rooms, was probably half full on this Sunday night. Room was clean, water pressure in shower was just satisfactory, bed was comfortable. We did hear the guest on the floor above walk around and heard the toilet flush in the room next door. Staff was nice and our reservation was in order. Breakfast was the usual motel fare, but better than some. The ferries to Mackinac Island are just a few blocks away.
First timers in the area; and we enjoyed this hotel; Great location; right on the water; We were in the Huron Bldg; Rm 331; which was an end room and it was very quiet; great view of the water; Very clean; and housekeeping on point. Furnace was alittle loud though. we had to turn the heat on one night... We loved SID who took us in his cart to breakfast every morning so we wouldnt have to walk.. Very nice man to talk to. Breakfast was OK; eggs were not the greatest; but the waffles were very good and your basic other breakfast foods were good. We would definately stay again though. Easy access to everything around St Ignace.
It was everything we hoped for and better. Friendly staff and great location. Free shuttle service to the island ferry and discount on the ferry prices. The pool was just what was needed at the day's end.No complaints on this end.
Stay here for the truck show every year, great rooms, spectacular view, great breakfast, 2 pools! Pricey, especially during truck show weekend, that would be the only reason we stay somewhere else next year!

Stayed 3 nights with a tour. This has to be one of the cleanest hotel/motel I have ever stayed in. No dust, nothing between the bedstand and bed. I can't say enough about this hotel. The staff was great, the free breakfast was one of the best also. The view from the room was spectacular Saw the sun rise each morning over the lake with Mackinac Island in the back ground. Location was great could walk to the ferry if you had to or into town. They also had a fire each night with Smore's which I never did get to but will next time.
Nice, clean room. Great view. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff. Should have handled the smoking report we called about. Nice pool, fire at night with cooking s'mores. WiFi connection, close to shops and restaurants
Loved this hotel and its staff. Beautiful views, clean rooms, friendly staff, great breakfast, nice pool, unique setting. Great location and proximity to tourist attractions, lovely setting. Felt peaceful while at the same time located next to so many fun things to do. Loved it all.
A very nice motel right on Lake Michigan and very close to all the ferries that go to Mackinac Island Our room faced East over the lake with Mackinac In the distance A great view The room was very nice and the breakfast very good. One of the most pleasant motel breakfast rooms ever!
Very clean, staff was very friendly. Bed was comfy. Free breakfast - usual fare. There are 4 buildings and you can get a ride in a golf cart so you don't have to walk. We were in the Ontario building and our room overlooked the lake. Highly recommend staying here. Discount tickets for ferry and Macinaw Island tours available at office. Picture is a view from our room.
The Best Western in Saint Ignace is the best Best Western stay that I have ever had. Very clean, very accommodating and excellent staff. Although it was raining and we couldn't see the town much on motorcycles, we still enjoyed the stay and the friendly people in Michigan. Would love to come back the tour the area more.
Well, we landed here for two days during our travels in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan, so let's start the analysis of this hotel: 1. the staff is friendly and courteous; 2. the office, grounds, and room are well maintained and clean.; 3. the coffee in the room is of sub-standard quality with powdered creamer, why can't the hotel management provide a higher grade of coffee?; 4. the light over the sink, is so dim that it is difficult to see yourself while you shave in the early morning hours. These are the reason I graded this hotel just average.
From the time check-in to check-out had a wonderful experience with this property. We it exceeded our expectations. Nice sunrise views from room, good breakfast, walking distance to ferry, bonfire in the evening to name a few. On top of it we could view the fireworks from room. Would certainly recommend this to anyone visiting the area.
Friendly, helpful and professional front desk, well maintained grounds, family friendly, clean and comfortable room with view of the lake, and walking distance to downtown. Our top choice to stay while in St. Ignace.
We stayed here for one night with our 2 grandchildren. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was very convenient - close to restaurants and the ferry docks. The kids enjoyed the pool and we all enjoyed the included breakfast. Our room and the facilities were clean and well maintained. We would definitely stay here again.
Can't beat the location. First exit over the bridge, right by the water (writing this while sitting on my balcony listening to the waves). Sun comes up from this side. The lake shimmers and it's beautiful. Room is wonderful and clean (231) at the end. My family member forgot to bring tooth brush, and they had a complimentary one. They have a bonfire at night to toast s'mores with the kids by the water. They have a gentleman that runs a good golf cart to help guest go to and from the front check in/breakfast to the rooms. It's a good size compound. the rooms, the building, and the grounds are beautifully kept. It shows that the proprietor really cares, and take pride in what they do. Most of all, the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly, when we checked in, the gentleman at the front desk says we're starting the fire and making s'more in 5 more minutes, come join us. The hot breakfast is not fancy, but good. They even have waffle maker that makes waffle with BW emblem on it, sort of like the hotels by Disney, but without the Mickey ears. They also sell discount Ferry tickets to the island. The next time we come back to Mackinac, we would definitely stay here again.
My daughter and I were put in the newly renovated “old”strip of rooms by the lake. The parking, view, and the fire pit with s'mores were all perfect! We then stayed at the Bicycle Inn on Mackinac Island for $$$. If I ever go back, I will stay here instead and ferry each day. This was right next to Shepler's Ferry.
When checking out hotels on the internet it's really hard to know what you're getting, so I was pleasantly surprised by this great hotel! This is a big hotel with a few different buildings with lots of rooms. Our room was very clean (a really important quality for me) and the beds were really comfortable. t's located a very short drive from downtown St. Ignace where there are cute little shops and some good restaurants and of course places to catch the ferry over to Mackinaw Island. Our room had an excellent view and a small balcony to sit out on to enjoy it. We were even able to watch the sun come up over Mackinaw Island before we headed over for a good breakfast that is included with the overnight stay. There seemed to be a lot of helpful employees around, keeping the grounds tidy and the guests happy. They would even give you a ride up to the breakfast area in a golf cart if you didn't feel like walking. It's a very family friendly place. We watched lots of kids playing on the large lawn next to Lake Huron. They even had a campfire and s'mores in the evening. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and to recommend this hotel to my friends and family.
It's a shame that we spent only two nights here. Got in later on a Sunday, went to the Island the next day. After seeing this place I would like to spend the day just at the hotel! We did not get to utilize the many amenities that this location offers. Lake, beach, pool (indoor and out), firepit, and friendly staff. Family liked the breakfast which was included. Had a room in the Ontario Building which is right on the water. Very clean and spacious. Only issue, and the hotel can do NOTHING about this, cause if they could I am sure they would...the doorwall deck/patio that we had on the third floor...we could not enjoy it in the evening due to the small bugs that can get thru normal screens. Could sit out there during the day and into the evening but had to close it once the bugs got bad. The hotel does a great job even in keeping that area clean. Would, and definitely will come back again.
We spent a night at this hotel before heading over to the Grand Hotel on Mackinaw Island. As excited as we were to see the Grand Hotel, we actually hated to check out of this hotel. Our room was tastefully decorated and immaculate. The views of Lake Huron were outstanding. The pools were beautiful, and the evening bon fire on the lake shore was sublime. We highly recommend this hotel, and in the future, we will likely stay here and simply take ferries to Mackinaw Island. This is an extraordinarily well-run hotel.
The outdoor pool was beautiful. My kids loved being close to the lake. Great fires at night with s'mores. The breakfast was good the rooms were clean and we could walk to the ferry. They take pride in keeping this hotel clean.
This has got to be one of the best hotels in the St. Ignace/Mackinaw area. The rooms are clean and well cared for. The 2 pools (one outdoor and one indoor) are great. Breakfast is well done and the view from the dining area of the lake is awesome. The staff are helpful and will drive you up to breakfast. The fire in the evening with marshmallows was a fun treat for the kids along with the playground. I hope the hotel staff doesn't read this and raise the rates!
We stayed in the Huron House. It was Lakefront with spectacular views of Mackinac Island directly out in front of our gorgeous balcony. Front desk was so pleasant. Breakfast was wonderful. All around great hotel. Will definitely be coming back here!!
our room over looked the beautiful Mackinaw Island. The sun rise view was gorgeous! We could hear the waves crashing on the rocks in front of our room. The rooms are clean and nice, the ground immaculate and two pools! The staff are friendly and very helpful. They have a gentleman with a dog who keeps the ground free of Canadian geese, which makes for nice walks alog the shore. My thanks to all the staff for making my stay enjoyable
Beautiful resort style setup on Lake Huron. Large property with different buildings with beautiful sunrises send sunsets. Campfire at night with marshmallows and stories. Great views from your rooms. Shuttle to and from bldgs. Easy access to town and with shuttles to ferries to island. Great large breakfast with really neat dining area. Two pools and a workout room. Who could ask for more.
Stayed with family at the BW Harbour Pointe in the Ontario Building last week and it was a great experience. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful including the front desk that processed our discounted Macinac ferry tickets, the food staff who assisted us in getting coffee and plates for a late night family gathering, and the golf cart guy who offers rides to breakfast at the main lodge. It is not a luxury hotel, but the rooms are large and clean, and the bed is comfortable. The balcony is close enough to the lake to hit with a Michigan cherry pit. The location is very convenient to transportation, good restaurants, and local attractions. I would highly recommend the BW Harbour Pointe.
I chose this hotel because the front desk person was so helpful and friendly when I called to make my reservation. I had alot of questions, and even though Lucas was new, he made sure to get answers for me. I was traveling with my handicapped mother and 2 children, 6 and 8. The staff was so patient and kid friendly. Breakfast is the normal hotel fare, but there is a lovely porch to dine on. They also have an outdoor pool, I think it may be the only one in the area. It is very clean and well kept and offers great views of the lake. The rooms are very clean and well appointed. The property is very well maintained...I never saw a cigarette butt in the parking lot, which is impressive! They also had a nightly bonfire with all the makings for s'mores provided!! They even have a golf cart guests could ask for to go back and forth to the breakfast area and the indoor pool. About 10 minutes from the casino and very close to the ferry docks ...and downtown. They also sell discounted tickets to Island attractions. Can't wait to stay again!!!
This is a well-managed property. You can tell by the employees and how they interact with customers and each other; and not just the front desk. We arrived on an August Monday afternoon with the hope of securing a room with a view for the night. The guy at the front desk said "have I got a room for you!" and excitedly (and accurately as it turned out) described a room. It was in the Ontario building on the lake with a view of Mackinac Island. The view was beautiful; the room and its price was "Best Western". We had a ground floor room on the end of the building. Adjacent to the building is an undeveloped piece of land. We woke to warblers flitting in the bushes outside our window. The room had a tiny deck with about twenty feet of lawn to the water. There was a resident gull hoping for a treat. However, the bonus was watching an otter repeatedly swimming 50 to 100 meters offshore to bring a fish for its young, patiently waiting at the shoreline! Breakfast was included (more friendly people) and there is a guy with a golf cart ready to pounce on you when you head toward the main building -- he is there to give you a ride. I declined since it was a beautiful morning for a walk. Breakfast had real scrambled eggs and bacon -- a notch above a free breakfast. This property is really a multi-building resort than simply a hotel. There is an outdoor pool and hot tub, and an indoor pool and hot tub. There is a rocky beach and a large (!) grassy area to play ball or whatever. Also, there was a nighttime fire with 'smores
Ron Farr = Customer Service at its finest. So many hotels push you through routinely as if you're on a conveyer belt. They could care less if you're staying with them. Not Ron. Even though he had an increased interest in the property, he still was very accommodating. This was our first time visiting the area and our first time going to Mackinac Island. We walked into check in not knowing how to go about preparing for our day at the Island, and when we walked out, we had discounted tickets for the ferry, a carriage tour around the island, and a good plan of action. That was all thanks to Ron. The hotel was just completely overhauled with upgrades galore and has a fantastic view of Lake Huron. This is a must stay!
We loved this hotel! Great for families! Staff was amazing. So helpful and friendly. Pool was great. The property is beautiful. We were passing through, but would go back just to spend more time at this hotel!
Nice clean room. Could use better lighting. Breakfast ok. Need a new egg recipe. Good coffee. Good location if going to island. Great hotel for kids. 2 pools. Inside and out. Big play ground . Bonfire at night with Smores. Staff was very nice.
We enjoyed our 2 night stay. Very clean and well kept. The fire pit and roasting marshmellows by the lake was a hit. The hot tubs and pools were very nice. A short walk to the Sheppler Ferry Dock or the shuttle made going to Mackinac Island very easy. The breakfast was excellent. Staff was excellent. I would definitely stay here in the future.
We stayed in a lakefront room and had an incredible room located right on Lake Huron. My kids loved stepping out the slider door directly to the lakeshore. The beds were very comfortable and the room was very clean when we arrived. We loved the pools, both indoor and outdoor! Both pools also had a hot tub (which was also nice!) We really liked the nightly bonfire with marshmallows. Something so simple made it a memorable experience for the kids! We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel!
Great location and hotel- you won't be disappointed. Great breakfast and more. Parking is close to room, pick up for breakfast by golf cart was a treat. Great view from the room, large and spacious and decor was updated. great value.
This place cannot be beat! The staff is friendly & professional whatever your needs- tickets to Mackinac, suggestion on a day trip to Whitefish Point & Upper and Lower Falls is a must! The room had a great view of the lake from the balcony and was clean and spacious. The property is very well planned with four separate buildings, green space and a playground for kids, fire pit, and rocky beach at the lake. There is an indoor pool and outdoor pool surrounded by glass that keeps the wind out but doesn't stop the views! The breakfast room was great but busy, it extended into a second room. Since we traveled with a toddler, we took our breakfast back to our room. There is a bit of a hill from the main part of the hotel to a few of the buildings including ours but don't worry, they've got golf carts that can run you up and down or give the kids a ride-thanks Sid! Very family oriented and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again!
From the moment we got here it's been great. The front desk was so nice and helpful. In fact every employee has gone above and beyond to make our stay the best. Our room is right on the lake and the balcony is a good size with very comfortable chairs. The room itself is much larger than most hotels. Everything was clean and I mean everything! The breakfast in the morning was much better than most hotels that are included. Can't say enough good things. We will be back!
the hotel staff were friendly and made our trip but there was one employee that went above and beyond. Lucas came after 11 pm to rescue us when the trolley stranded us at the state park. he made a bad situation turn around. his customer service skills are top notch
Our family stayed here on the start of our trip all around the UP of MI. The hotel is clean, has wonderful views, two pools and two hot tubs, and a great breakfast. Did I mention firepit each night and fireworks on Saturday when we stayed. It was all so great that we had originally booked a different hotel for our way back down state on at the end of the week, but we liked it so much we cancelled that hotel and booked with this one for the return trip. That night was just as great. We stayed in the Michigan section, which was so close to the lake and the playground. I would highly recommend staying here.
We were visiting upper Michigan with a day trip to Mackinaw Island. This BW property was just what we like.....quiet, nice view of the water, pleasant, clean family spot. Nice amenities offered....even a shuttle ride to the ferry terminal. We will recommend to others.
We stayed here for one night on our way up north and can't believe we haven't stayed here before! Check in was easy and the guy at the reception desk was super friendly and also helped give us directions to the restaurant we had planned on going to. Our room was very clean and we loved the design of it. The bed was soooo comfortable! My only slight complaint was that the people above our room had kids who kept running back and forth across their room so it was a bit noisy at times. The hotel can't control this so I don't count it against them. Overall, we slept well and they have a perfect continental breakfast. We will definitely be back.
This hotel was really nice, great view of Lake Huron and the Sat. Night fireworks. Wonderful staff. Would be nice if there was a hair dryer in the room. Also real glasses and cups vs disposable. Bed was comfy. Breakfast was great and included. Again, real dishes cups and cutlery would be an improvement. I would definitely stay here again.
Our room was clean, spacious, and modern with a clear view of the lake. We enjoyed a swim in the pool before check-out and had breakfast in the large dining area. Typical hotel breakfast items (waffles, pastries, yogurt, cereal, fruit, biscuits/gravy, etc.). The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The overall appearance seemed to be clean and well-maintained. My only complaint is that we didn't have a longer stay so that we could enjoy the room as well as our time in the area. We checked in later in the evening and were rather tired after a long day on Mackinac Island, but I was hoping to take advantage of the bonfire/smores the hotel offers. Maybe next time! We will definitely plan to stay here again should we return to St. Ignace.
We were spoiled silly at this hotel. From the breakfast shuttle to an amazing meal each morning, to the nightly bonfire next to Lake Huron, guests are pampered. The rooms were clean and extremely comfortable. The view breathtaking. They even had gluten free breakfast items.
This is a beautiful property right on Lake Huron with a small beach area. It is lovely and very convenient. There are actually several buildings on the property. Plus they have a play area and pool. I think it would be great for families. In the summer, they have a bonfire at night and views of fireworks. Very helpful staff.
We stayed at the Ontario building with a view of the water and Mackinac Island. 3rd floor is the best view. Two pools, indoor and outdoor were very nice. Breakfast was very good. Service was excellent in every way.
This hotel is amazing no need to stay anywhere else! Feels like you are at a resort and the staff is so friendly! Offered great discounts on Mackinac Island tourist attractions. Also offered dinner recommendations for us and it was amazing food!!
This place is AMAZING! We stayed here for 3 nights and had two connecting rooms I believe in the Superior building. The rooms are gorgeous. Had been remodeled since the pictures were taken for the website. Big and spacious, super clean and functional. The balconies were the best! Right overlooking the pool and could see the lake to the right. To the left was the main building, so it was a very short walk to breakfast. I wish we could have stayed longer! Staff was so nice, the pools were fun for the kids, as was the playground. Breakfast was standard free breakfast: eggs, sausage, biscuits & gravy, waffle station, and continental type items. I wasn't a fan of the coffee, but hey it was included! Best property on St. Ignace IMO. Also a little tip if you are trying to decide between Mackinaw City and St. Ignace. We didn't have to wait in line for the ferry service. The lines from and back to Mackinaw City were wrapped around blocks. Hundreds of people. We got on the first one that came both times.
The view from our room in the Ontario Building was a Wow. From the minute we walked in the door, we enjoyed watching the waves and the seagulls only 30 feet away. The buildings themselves were beautiful, the setting was awesome, the beds and linens were perfect and the personnel were friendly and helpful with information and tickets to Mackinac Island. The Continental breakfast was adequate, but we didn't eat there the 2nd day because there were too many people jostling for tables and food. Not the hotel's fault...we were there on the busiest day of the year.
After visit to the Mackinac Island, I spent a night at this hotel. I chose their family suite with three queen beds and two bathrooms. One of the queen beds is in a separate bedroom so it also provides more privacy. And to my surprise, the suite comes with two FULL bathrooms. I thought it was 1.5 bath when I booked. However I found the pocket door design of the separate bedroom difficult to operate. My in-laws definitely had issue opening that door without my help. Other than that I did not encounter any issue staying there. Room was clean and good-size for the four of us. Wifi was also good so I had no complaint there. Their breakfast area is big with sufficient number of tables; their breakfast selection is also excellent. I can also see their outdoor pool can be very attractive for family with kids, as it overlooks Lake Huron. Overall I would recommend this hotel especially if you don't want to spend extra living on the island. For my one-day visit to the island, I also encountered less people waiting for ferry coming back to the Saint Ignace side but the line for the Mackinaw side was significantly longer.
We stayed at Harbor Pointe, Best Western 3 nights and 4 days. Hotel was very nice and on the lake. They had a firepit outside and brought some wood. We had a fire everynight. We also had continental breakfast every morning. Food was above average. We were also within walking distance to the Sheplers ferry dock. Thats the boat you take to Mackinac Island. We were also about 3 miles from the Westin casino. Tuesday nights they give veterans a five dollar advance on their casino card. They also have a golf cart driver who picks people up and takes them to breakfast so they dont have to walk up the hill
One night here before going to the island. My husband and I both agreed, we could spend our entire vacation at this hotel. Our room had a small balcony looking over the morning sunrise on the lake, some rooms newly remodeled and the continental breakfast (not in our building) was great start to the day.
Set on Lake Huron this hotel has many buildings in their complex. We stayed in the Ontario building and got a 3rd floor with balcony on the lake. Fromcheck in to check out we were thrilled with the friendly staff, large pool and definitely the lake setting. (Our key did not work at first and we were escorted back to our building from the check in facility by a staff member to ensure the door lock was operational. He took it upon himself to take our bikes to our room. I am including a photo as you just need to see where where you could stay.
We picked this hotel off of the reviews and were not disappointed. Absolutely spotless everywhere. The pools and hot tubs were really great. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was better than most by far. We were just really impressed. We stayed during the big car show weekend which was fun to see (And hear lol). We got to sit on the lawn behind our building and watch the fireworks. Free shuttles to and from the ferries were easy and convenient. There was even a shuttle between the buildings. (There is a hill and several buildings..."Michigan" being oldest and closest to the beach.)
We are from the UK and we stayed for three nights at the Best Western Harbour Pointe Lake front during our trip around Michigan State. It was by far the best hotel we stayed in during our trip to the USA. Front desk staff was extremely helpful and courteous. Their recommendations for nearby restaurants were excellent. The room we had on the third floor overlooking the lake was extremely well equipped and spacious. We loved watching the otter on the beach below and the geese on the lake. There were wonderful views from the room overlooking the lake. It was clean and comfortable and the housekeeping on each day of our stay was excellent. The hotel was in a first class location. It was only a short walk to the Mackinaw Ferry for our trip out to Mackinaw island …we received a discount on the tickets from the hotel reception. The breakfast was great with lots of choice. There were plenty of places to sit while we ate it with view from the breakfast room down to the lake. There was ample parking and we felt safe. It was an ideal location for us to use as a base for exploring the Upper Michigan area. We thought the price we paid was good value for money and would recommend to other travellers.
Comfortable room right next to the lake, only 0.5 miles from Starline ferry to Mackinac Island. Cheaper than Mackinac City. Nice fire pit and both indoor and outdoor pool and hot tub. Breakfast provided (but almost nothing for vegans to eat). Nice staff. Only downside: lots of mosquitos.
Our tour bus group stayed at this hotel for 2 night and it was a very enjoyable experience. The property is pretty large and our unit was right down on the water. We had a little balcony that was just a few feet from the shore. HOWEVER, THE BUGS (MIGE) WERE IN TOWN FOR A FEW WEEKS AND THEY ARE DRAWN TO THE LIGHT. Don't open your patio door or your room will be full of them. They say they just pass through for a few weeks each year and this was the time. They had a bonfire that night for the guests but we choose to ride the trolly around the area and get a lay of the land. Nice breakfast in the morning and we were on our way to Mackinac Island which you can easily see from our room. We ate two evening meals at the hotel and they were fine. All in all I would say this is probably the best hotel and location in the town. I would definitely stay there again.
All of the staff were incredible, especially Shannon. We were staying on Mackinac Island, but my mom ended up in the hospital in St. Ignace. Our tour group departed that day and I was frantic about finding a place to stay for after my mom was discharged. Not only did Shannon find us a room, one of the staff came to pick us up from the hospital as we did not have a car and public transit is not really available. We checked in well before 3pm, and Shannon made sure we were on the 1st floor so my mom didn't have to go up any stairs. She worked around us not really knowing how many days we would need to stay without any issue. Everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful. Shannon and the rest of the staff absolutely made a difficult situation so much less stressful. This hotel, by far, had the best service of any I have visited. The room was clean with a beautiful view, and breakfast was good. I would definitely return.
This place has really improved over the years. The rooms look recently renovated and are quiet. Refrigerator in the room. Nice area (we had a king room - 317). The staff is very friendly and they have a golf cart that will bring you to and from your room (A slight hill to get to some of the buildings). My only complaint is the bed was a little hard. Breakfast was standard fare. No lids for the coffee - maybe going green or just were out of stock? Rates were excellent. Would stay here again!
"We had a wonderful stay here and the hotel was very clean. They were very responsive with our requests. I would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend staying here to anyone. We were waterfront and the view was amazing!"
This property is exceedingly well maintained! It is located on the water with great views (not all rooms). The lobby, exterior and rooms were clean, well maintained and the decor was excellent. The staff were all friendly and engaging, very professional - gave us great recommendations for local food. We experienced their complimentary breakfast and the selection, quality and dining area were all great. Typically we stay at Marriott (platinum level) and this BW property definitely exceeds what we have come to expect for accommodations. Excellent value!!!
We choose a lower floor room with lake views. There's a few hundred feet between the building and the water, so lots of green space to run around on. A huge breakfast area and it's included (double check as things may have changed). There are lots of crazy bugs that fly in the summer in the UP, so be ready. Close by to shopping and ferry.
Stayed here as part of a bus tour. Took all of 5 minutes for hotel staff to get bags of the coach and into rooms. \\ Rooms were newly redecorated, clean, spacious with microwave, fridge, coffee pot and balcony. Only issue was hearing people above or next door run the showers every morning, Sound proofing would help. Coffee in the room but no tea bags. But front desk indicated to me just to take extras from breakfast room. Some people with walking challenges enjoyed the golf cart ride up to the breakfast room each morning. But the breakfast fare was mediocre- especially eggs and sausage meat. Was short of sitting space the morning it rained and gazebo area was drenched and 2 bus tours trying to eat at the same time. Outdoor pool heated as well as indoor. The midges were a real problem. Could not open the balcony door because they even came through the screen. Too bad that there is not a place where guests could get a drink at night or even a full service restaurant. Also they need to offer green friendly towel options. No need to replace a towel unless guests ask. Do as many hotels now do and let people leave a card on the bed if no towel replacement is needed . We all need to be environmentally aware.
The staff here repeatedly went out of their way to ensure my husband and I had a great stay. Our suite was clean, comfortable, and well-appointed with everything in good working order. A nice surprise was a portable tower fan that I placed next to my bed to deal with those annoying hot flashes that some of us have during the night! The free breakfast was much more elaborate than I've come to expect: so many choices and so conveniently set up, with a staff that kept the tables clean and the offerings fully stocked.
We visited with a group for my Mom's 70th birthday. We booked with the sales department as we had a large group, They were very nice and accommodating! The grounds at the hotel were beautiful. We were assigned to the Ontario building. the rooms were very clean, the property is very well kept up. The breakfast is above average for Hotel Breakfast. The bonfire on the beach was an added plus. We will definitely go back! The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is for one super rude (and I am being nice by just saying rude) staff member.
The BW staff were friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The room was updated and modern, clean, comfortable, spacious, and had a beautiful view. My favorite part of our whole weekend was swimming with my family in the outdoor pool. Both pools were very clean! It's an added bonus they do a bonfire at night and they have a playground onsite. There are a number of different buildings to this hotel, so you do have to walk to breakfast and to the pool(s), but we were pleasantly surprised when a golf cart picked us up and brought us to breakfast! We were very happy with our stay and look forward to staying again.
Best Western is the Best! As good, if not better, than the Grand Hotel! Perfect place to stay for our wedding anniversary! We had a beautiful balcony view of Mackinac Island over the beautiful azure waters of Lake Michigan!
We enjoyed our stay. The room was great and the view of the water was wonderful. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to make you feel at home. We stay here every year for our anniversary and my husband's birthday.
This was a very pleasant stay from start to finish. The hotel is right on the beach. The front desk staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgable. The room was spacious, clean and well equipped. There was even a marshmallow roast on the beach. The breakfast room was left open in the evening, complete with coffee and tea. Wifi strong. Breakfast was excellent. The only suggestion for improvement would be to give out a bottle of water.
This hotel was wonderful! My husband and my for boys and I stayed for two nights at this hotel and we loved it! The hotel room was great! We had a family room facing the lake that we could walk right out into the lawn area. It was a two room family room with two queen size beds and one king size in the other room. It fit our family of six just fine! The only thing that was a little bothersome was that the room with the king bed didn't have an air conditioner or any air vents, other than a hearing vent, in the room. But it did have a ceiling fan and if you left the door open the room was nice and cool with the air conditioning on in the main room. The breakfast was very tasty! We had biscuits and gravy and eggs and sausage! Yum!! They also had waffles and strawberries to put on top or chocolate chips. And of course there was cereal, bagels, toast, yogurt, muffins, and some pastries. But the best part of the breakfast was the view! They had beautiful windows overlooking the lake in the main breakfast area and you could also eat out in the porch area which had wonderful view as well! And my boys loved both swimming pools! We had to try them both. You need to walk to either pools from your room but we didn't mind. And then they also had a bonfire lit each night we were there with marshmallows that you can roast! We just loved it! We can't wait to go back!! And that is just the hotel! The area was memorable too!
This Best Western is outstanding. The site is beautiful and there are 2 pools!!!! Also the breakfast bar is most excellent. I loved the muffins!! The staff was very friendly and allowed us to do an early check-in before we went to Mackinac Island. They also sold reduced price ferry tickets to the island and offer a free shuttle service to the ferry! The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. Overall this was a great hotel that I would highly recommend!
Absolutely wonderful staff. They don't wait for you to ask for help, they offer their assistance. Room was clean, free breakfast offered a number of choices including multiple hot items. The hotels includes multiple buildings and is laid out like a resort.
The best sunrise views. Free shuttle to ferry over to Mackinaw Island & casino too! Courteous staff. The balcony is such a nice feature. The seagulls and waves crashing just feet from your room. Breakfast was hot and plentiful.
Room was easy access for us. It was an end unit with extra windows and space. View of lake from patio! Woke to sunrise over the lake and view of Mackinac Island. Room felt like home with comfortable beds, over-sized chair with ottoman for comfortable reading. Wish every room we stayed in was this great.
Excellent hotel, very clean. Front desk staff top notch. Garth is our hero, he's a Rock Star! We registered for one night, then later changed our reservation to two nights. Staff was very accomodating.
Our family of 5 adults recently stayed here and we had a room with 4 beds and 2 bathrooms and it was perfect for us. Hotel was very clean, very close to Shepler's Ferry dock, continental breakfast was very good. Everything was perfect for us.
Best Western staff were wonderfully helpful as we planned our outings from St. Ignes, and gave good recommendations for restaurants, etc. What a convenient location for touring Mackinac Island and the Upper Peninsula.
This is my 2nd time staying here. I love this hotel. It's easy access to the places I like to go to. The staff is friendly, helpful, professional. All amenities and room fixtures were in working order. I enjoyed my stay and plan to come again soon.
I was slightly reluctant to post a review for this motel, since it might become too popular. We found this great place to stay, while our son was attending college in Upper Peninsula of Michigan. St. Ignace has great small-town charm, and the motel has an excellent view of Mackinaw Island and shores of Lake Huron. The rooms are clean and nicely furnished, and the staff are genuinely friendly. You won't disappointed, if you pay Harbour Pointe a visit.
Got a great room at a reasonable price. Staff came to my rescue when the corkscrew broke off in the cork and I couldn't get the wine open. Wonderful place to stay! Would highly recommend it. Beautiful views of the water and Mackinaw Island.
This Hotel is very comfortable and conveniently located to all attractions and boats to island, staff extremely helpful and friendly, indoor & outside pool with fire pit and a great view of island and lake, save the money from big island prices enjoy the beautiful boat ride to island enjoy the fun !
Rather than book a room on Mackinac Island which is extremely expensive, we chose to stay on the mainland and take the ferry across the bay to Mackinac. The Best Western is quite close to the ferry docking area which makes logistics very convenient...this is a primary reason for selecting Best Western. The hotel itself is quite nice, multiple buildings on a large acreage...all the amenities. And a wonderful complimentary morning breakfast is served each day in the main facility. We would highly recommend booking a room in the Ontario building...ask for a room on the east side facing the water, and also ask for the top floor. These rooms are very quiet, and provide beautiful views of the lake and wonderful sunrises in the morning. Pricing is far more reasonable than on the island...free onsite parking...swimming pools...sandy beachfront along shoreline. We certainly enjoyed our stay, and would definitely return.
Love the separate buildings located on different parts of the spansive property. Wonderful views of the lake and sunsets from just about every angle. Our room was great and peaceful. Separate private balconies to enjoy your morning paper or coffee, or the evening breeze and sunset. Very clean. Great full breakfast buffet. Too much food to name them all. Great eating areas inside or in a sunroom with a breeze. Love breezes! Not to mention, close to Mackinac bridge, Taquahmenom Falls and boats to Mackinac Island.
Stayed with family for a couple of days in Oct 2017. The sprawling property is on the shores of the lake Huron, with most rooms offering a nice view of the lake. The rooms are clean and well appointed, and ours had a balcony facing the lake. The ferries to Mackinac island are a short walk away. This is a good base to explore the island for the day and return in the evening. The property itself has a nice campfire that is arranged in the evenings on the lawns by the lake, weather permitting (mostly through Oct I guess). There are plenty of dining options in the main street, though the late night eats are limited. The breakfast is included and on par with similar hotels.
We stayed 2 nights at this hotel and stayed in a 2 bed, 2 bathroom room, with lovely views of the lake. We usually avoid "motel" style accommodation but we were delighted with our accommodation, location and friendly staff. Breakfast was included in the rate, which was pretty basic fayre but overall stay was excellent value for money.
This is our favorite place to stay when we visit Mackinac Island. This trip was outstanding! The staff was incredible, especially Shannon. Our room had an amazing view of the lake and was perfect in every way. Going to sleep listening to the sound of the waves and waking up to a beautiful sunrise was beyond our expectations. The breakfast was included and had everything a person could want and more! Thank you to the entire staff for making our visit so special! Dr. Charles Thomas and Gwen Tatera
Nice and clean hotel. Lakefront view. Great breakfast. Very friendly front desk staff. Just a minute or two from the ferry boat ride to Mackinac Island. A couple of good restaurants nearby, a hobby store and other area shops.
We stayed two nights in this hotel. The reception staff were friendly. The layout of the hotel is in motelstyle, rooms with exit directly to the parking lot. The room we had was bigt and comfortable. The beds were good, and the bathroom clean. The breakfast is served in the main building, ca 150 meters from the building our room was in. Breakfast was ok, but not overwhelming by european standard. You can sit inside, or out on a sheltered terrasse. This hotel is a nice place to stay for making daytrips on the northern peninsula.
We enjoyed the wonderful breakfast. The room was very comfortable for sleeping, no noise to bother us. WE had many questions about Mackinac Island and they were all answered to our satisfaction. We were also amazed that they had shuttle service to the breakfast building. We would stay here again
An awesome hotel, set on Lake Huron, beautiful and peaceful. Very clean, large rooms with comfortable bedding! Wonderful staff, friendly, and helpful. Plenty of breakfast choices. Lobby, and breakfast area in another building, only disadvantage.
Great location on the water and close to the ferry docks. Several options for accommodations. We were in the lakefront building and the scenery was fantastic! Spacious, clean, room with a bar fridge, coffee maker, balcony, wifi, HDTV, and comfy bed. Being close to the shore means a walk to the pool and breakfast. The staff was the best!!
We enjoyed our one-night stay during the last week everything was open. My husband forgot his toothbrush. I called the front desk and an employee immediately ran up a toothbrush and toothpaste. The breakfast was great! The room was clean and nicely put together.
This was our 4th or 5th trip here. It was cold and rainy and we still enjoyed the experience. We had a lakeside room and loved the view and the lapping waves on the shore. We shall continue to come every fall enroute to Mackinac, further into the UP or as a destination of its own.
My wife and I had booked to stay 2 nights, on the second day my wife fell ill and she had to attend a hospital. We had to return home early. The Hotel staff were genuinely kind and helpful. The 2nd night was refunded. The location is beautiful and we will definitely return. The entire facility had an excellent feeling about it.
Great staff, great view and a clean comfortable room. Enjoying the outdoor hot tub at night and a good breakfast made it even better. We will certainly be booking here again the next time we visit St. Ignace.
This facility is a great place to stay in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It has easy access to many tourist locations. It is quiet, clean, and has a great staff. The rooms are immaculate and well maintained.
Best hotel we have stayed in in recent memory in St Ignace or Mackinaw city. fire pit was a nice touch and the breakfast having been one of the best for a chain hotel we have encountered. Our room was recently remnovated and was excellent. shuttles up to breakfast area was a nice touch. We will be back!
Best Western Harbor Pointe Lakefront in Saint Ignace, Michigan was our home base for our 2017 Upper Peninsula of Michigan color tour. Our room had a beautiful view of Lake Huron. The room was well appointed and had a tasteful nautical decor. The room was clean and well cared for. This location is our first choice whenever we visit Saint Ignace, Michigan.
We stayed here on Oct 7, 2017, and it was the highlight stay of our 12 day Michigan trip. Our welcome at the front desk was delightful and fun, and they accommodated our request for an early check in on a rainy day. Our room was immaculate, (as in squeaky clean) and we were fortunate enough to have a delightful balcony that overlooked the pool and the lake, where we could watch the skies clear. This is a very large property, with several buildings, so breakfast involved a short, pleasant stroll to a lovely, fresh and bright breakfast room with a good offering of items. This is a wonderful place to stay, and I hope to go back!
Wonderfully comfortable rooms with an incredible lakeside view. Front desk is always accommodating and housekeeping crew is always efficient. My sister and I always have our own rooms. We feel perfectly safe. We are annual guests; this is our 8th year.
Beautiful waterfront motel. We had requested a lake view room with a king bed. The view was beautiful. The room was HUGE, had a sliding glass door to a small patio with two chairs, overlooking the lake. The bathroom was clean and had a shower, no bathtub. While we were gone most of the day, we came back to a clean room. The continental breakfast was excellent. Make your own waffles, eggs, sausage, pastries, bagels, cereals and fruit. Cider, coffee and juice. It gets CROWDED in the mornings, there was a very long line for waffles on Sunday morning, limited seating but an additional area on a patio, covered with plastic. Not terribly warm on this blustery Sunday wet and cold morning, but fine for a quick eat and go. When I had made the reservations over the phone, the person at the other end was excellent, and while talking to them in person during our visit, they were very personable as well. Would stay here again.
Beautiful Room, excellent staff both front staff and cleaning staff. Lovely water views. Staff was so helpful with information and discount tickets for ferry to Mackinaw Island. Wonderful breakfast. Would stay here again!
We always stay on the island, but needed to spend one night off since we were driving on a color tour in UP. Booked here on advice from Trip Advisor. Loved it! Staff was so incredibly nice. And their patience with new visitors to the area we witnessed was so nice to see. Room were perfectly clean and updated. Interior and exterior. We didn't try the outdoor pool, but looked awesome, especially the lake view from it. Breakfast was nice with plenty of seating. Since it's right next to the ferry, we may have found a new home while visiting!
Don't get me started, this place was over-the-top. Maranda was wonderful as soon as we first entered the hotel, she did everything she could to make our stay fabulous. They give discounted tickets for the ferry ride, then they will shuttle you to sheplers. Unfortunately, we had car trouble, they recommended George's auto, and even that was a great experience. Their breakfast is great, the view of the island is spectacular,.. we were here for our 40th anniversary, and would recommend this place to stay above all others. I am a hotel snob, because of cleanliness… This was the cleanest hotel I've ever been in. Love best western!
Usually stay in Mackinaw City when we are up this way, but decided to change it up and try St. Ignace instead. This hotel has several different buildings with different price points depending on the view. We chose a lakefront view and were given a room on the second floor of the Ontario building. It is right on the lake. Wonderful view and we enjoyed a gorgeous sunrise from our balcony. Front desk staff courteous and helpful. Room was clean and large, beds comfy. 2 armchairs which we really liked-seems most rooms just have one and we have to decide who gets to be comfortable! Breakfast buffet was the usual with make your own waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage patties along with cereal, toast, muffins, fruit, etc. Good coffee in the rooms and at breakfast. The only drawback with this place is the longish walk to the pool and breakfast. Most people drive up or take the complementary golf cart. We will definitely stay here again when next in the area.
The Best Western Harbour Pointe has been our favorite vacation home for the past ten years. The accommodations are of the most comfortable quality and the staff are always friendly, courteous, helpful and professional.
Although a gloomy day, our stay was very pleasant. Newly remodeled room that was lakefront with plenty of space. Breakfast room was clean and fully stocked at all times. The girls were always tiding and restocking. Shuttle available for those whose was further away.
It was wonderful from start to finish . Absolutely loved the stay . The hotel was perfect for our family . I would recommend this hotel to my family and friends. Everyone was professional kind and went out of their way to make our experience the best possible . Thank you best western
Everything about this motel exceeded my expectations! We extended our stay one night because it was so great. Staff was well trained - courteous, professional, knowledgable, and efficient. Location is perfect for seeing the local region. Motel and property were spotless. Will be a return customer!
We booked a first floor lakefront room with sliding glass doors onto the patio. Lake Huron was almost on our doorstep, it was awesome. The hotel includes numerous buildings, and there was an employee shuttling guests to-and-from breakfast with a golf cart. There is also a shuttle service to the Mackinac Island Ferry that collects you at your building. St. Ignace is a small town with limited restaurants and shopping, but the Harbour Pointe Lakefront is a beautiful resort on the shores of Lake Huron. I would not hesitate to stay there again!
What a well-kept, clean, pretty, pleasant hotel! We liked everything about it! The room included 2 extremely comfortable beds with plenty of pillows, nice linens on beds and in bath, nice TV, Wi-Fi, and a deck just on the edge of the lake. There was an indoor pool in the main building, as well as a beautiful outdoor pool. Breakfast was excellent, with many choices, hot and cold. Bonfire and marshmallows in the evening were a special touch! We also used and really appreciated the golf cart shuttle!
Great experience with great people from beginning with the reservation taken to Shannon, to included breakfast, to checkout. Beautiful, SUPER clean rooms. Gorgeous view. Huge complex. Close to downtown.
We have stayed at this property on 6 separate occasions and keep coming back. We found it by accident on our honeymoon when looking for a place to stay and we were given a room in the Ontario building right on the water. The beds are comfortable, the rooms clean, staff is wonderful and the breakfast is always good. You can't beat the evening fires and roasting of marshmallows that are provided. We have now stayed at most of the buildings in the complex and they are all nice. Elevators make them accessible for those with mobility issues as well. We don't always like to book hotels in advance, but if we are heading anywhere up north we book this one because we can count on a comfortable bed and great service.
Very nice hotel near the water. We enjoyed our stay. Room was cleaned daily. Hotel staff was very helpful. Would recommend. The only thing missing was a microwave in our room. I later discovered there was not one in the room description so that was my error.
Had a 6 1/2 hr drive from Milwaukee to St Ignace. The plan was to spend Thurs night in St Ignace and then 2 nights on Mackinac Island. The Best Western was perfect. Extremely nice and informative desk staff, large and comfortable clean room, indoor and outdoor pool, good "make your own" breakfast buffet. A great value when compared to the cost of rooms on the Island. Will stay there again on our next trip.
This is a must stop on your tour of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. If you are planning to visit Mackinaw Island, the ferry docks are within walking distance, dining, night life, airport, museum and the downtown area are close by and even walk-able. Clean streets, friendly people and lake breezes! Does it get any better?!!
Hotel is large and has been added onto over the years. Nice lake views. A bonfire and marshmallow roast in the evenings. The rooms are large and comfortable. Except for the herd of elephants marching above us all night, it was a pleasant stay. Front desk was pleasant and efficient. The complimentary breakfast was a notch abover average I would stay here again.
Went to St. Ignace to participate in the Mackinac Bridge Walk. Located this hotel last year and booked a year in advance. Sure glad we did, Accommodations were excellent. Staff was superior. We will be back next year with a few more friends.
Beautiful property right on the Lakefront! Very large, beautiful room. Wonderful balcony. Nice breakfast served in a pretty area. Easy check-in. Friendly and informative staff. You can buy ferry and horse carriage tickets for Mackinac Island at the front desk at a discounted price.
Incredible staff. Beautiful view in resort setting. As frequent business traveler I was shocked by great service at every level. Staff 'uniforms' gave off fun resort vibe. Room decor is somewhat eclectic/art deco not typically my style, but it was pulled off VERY well where oddly worked great together. And my #1 travel concern: room was immaculately clean. Best hotel experience I've had in years of business travel. Can't compliment enough.
Place is clean, well kept. They really take pride in what they do. This is one of the "BEST" Best Western's I stay at. I look forward to the stay every time I have to head to the UP! Breakfast is very good as well!
I loved staying here, it's right in the water, nice rooms and did I say it's right in the water?!? Such a great stay!!! Forgot something valuable and the called me right away to come get it! I would recommend this hotel to anyone and will be back!!
Great hotel! So much fun! Lots to do, close to town! Pools were a great temperature, could actually enjoy swimming. Nice playground for kids to play. Wish beach had sand, but not important at all. We come up every year for the truck show, will be staying here from now on.
We stayed at Best Western Harbour Pointe Lakefront, in Saint Ignacio, MI, before and after a day trip to Mackinac Island. The motel is attractive and the rooms spacious and comfortable. But this property's biggest assets is it's staff. Every employee we met, wither from housekeeping, maintenance, breakfast staff or front desk, had a genuine smile and a greeting and offer to help. We have traveled a lot and for many years, both nationally and internationally. I can say confidently that this was one of the best motel stays we have had
Not your typical Best Western hotel. Beautiful property right on Lake Huron with a great staff. Our room was in the Ontario building and was just steps from the shore of Lake Huron. The view of the sun coming up over the lake was spectacular. The room, a single King bed, was quite large and very comfortable and clean. Even though the building is the greatest distance from the breakfast buffet, there was a gentleman in a golf cart making routine drives through the parking lot offering rides to the front. When we checked in the staff inquired as to our need for ferry tickets to Mackinac Island, as well as the horse drawn carriage rides. This saved us time on the next day, and a couple dollars as well. We would definitely stay here again if we were in the area.
This hotel has several separate buildings, mostly older but some have recently been refurbished. Only two of the buildings have elevators so be sure to ask for one of them unless you don't mind lugging your "stuff" up 3 flights of stairs as we did for our 3rd floor room. It was quite large and overlooked the lake. However, there was a note on the desk to not open the sliding door to the balcony because of gnats. We were in the Huron Building which overlooked the lake but the Superior Building was waterfront. We bought ferry and carriage tickets to Macinac Island at the front desk. A shuttle picked us up and delivered us to the ferry and then returned us to the hotel later that day. The room was clean and quiet.
Came here after amazing wedding in Traverse City and found this beautiful perfect retreat! Had room right on lake facing Mackinaw Island and have to say we will be back! Very spacious room with large patio. The sound of the water with patio door open made for a great night sleep! Property is well maintained and clean! Staff very nice and accommodating. Always enjoy the free breakfast and WiFi was good. True Northern Michigan hospitality! Well done BW
Well-appointed, comfortable rooms. Friendly staff. Nice amenities. Nightly bonfire a great way to interact with people. A bit pricey but worthwhile. Well-maintained property in a beautiful location. Separate buildings (with different prices) helps spread guests throughout the property.
Very clean, comfortable hotel with probably the best breakfast I've had at any hotel! Easy access to anything in the area. Would highly recommend this hotel. If we're in the area for anything, this would be the hotel of choice!
Wonderful rooms. Good size. Updated rooms. Breakfast was great. Indoor and outdoor pools were great and clean. Room was very clean. Definitely will come back. Staff were very friendly and polite upon check in and check out.
Very clean. Great amenities. Amazing views. Extremely helpful, friendly, attentive staff. We stayed in the units that were directly on the waterfront with a direct view of Mackinac Island. Although we did not use the outdoor pool, it looked very inviting and very well maintained. There was a family using it that seemed to be truly enjoying themselves. There landscaping was lovely and the entire establishment had a very welcoming and cozy atmosphere.
I usually use my points for free stays at Hampton Inns, but since there wasn't one nearby I tried this BW. Very pleasant experience! Pleasant, helpful staff, clean room, super mattress, free b'fast, lake view and a lakefront bonfire and toasted marshmallows at night. And....reasonable rate. Have spent 1000+ night in motels in my lifetime and this property was in the overall top 20%
This is the second year we have stayed at this hotel. Would highly recommend. Although the room price is a little steep for the value-the staff is stellar! Very accommodating. We especially enjoyed the gentleman who gave us a ride to breakfast in the mornings. Breakfast was average- staying 3 nights it would have been nice to have different daily choices as other hotels offer. Very clean rooms.
This hotel is on the lake and offers a family friendly environment. There are several buildings some of which appear older than the others but all have been updated. Ours came with 2 double beds. The room was adequate the beds comfortable. There was an indoor and outdoor pool. Firepits for campfires. I believe there is also a sand beach but we arrived late and didn't venture down there. There is green space and play area. They provide shuttle service for breakfast from the various buildings. Breakfast was good staff pleasant
Don't look any further, you've found the best stay in St. Ignace here! Reserve your memories TODAY! I've stayed at this location for business and pleasure for years and have always found it to be a great experience. The staff is top notch, friendly and attentive to your needs. Rooms were GREAT!
Almost every one there is nice and helpful. Will stay again and as well to refer friends to experience. Good location and near lake. Nice to walk around. I forgot to mention the breakfast is also good and although there were a lot people in the room but the room is large enough to sit comfortablly.
We chose this hotel because it has two room suites. Upon entry was the a bathroom that contained the bathtub/shower with the toilet and the other side a sink with a good size counter. The small refrigerator was COLD upon arrival, there was a single cup coffee maker, flat screen tv. The room opened up with two queen size beds with a good amount of pillows on each bed. The was also a small table with two chairs. We had a view overlooking Mackinac Island. Our room was locate on the ground floor. There is NO ELEVATORS so be prepared to do stairs. Our room had two sliding glass doors that had a great locking system. with a balcony and two patio chairs. Now the lighting could have been a little better. The cable tv was good and there was HBO. The other portion of our room contained the king size bed, a closet, a flat screen tv and a dresser to lay our suitcase on. There was enough outlets to plug in our kids phones and tablets. There is a nightly bonfire. The indoor pool was one of the warmest hotel pools that we been in for the longest. There was a very nice outdoor pool and hot tub also. This hotel has multiple buildings. The office is located by the road, This where the indoor pool is and where the free breakfast is served. You can purchase tickets to the island at a small discount ( like $2.00 off a ticket). The ferry shuttle will pick you up and drop you off at the hotel office. There is an independent fitness center building. The building we were in was the Ontario building, it appears that this building has just had a major remodel done. The place was very clean, the staff was very friendly. We found everyone was respectful. Pros: Clean rooms, very affordable rooms, nice breakfast, warm pools, very very hot hot tubs. Cons: have to walk to each building, WIFI issue - there was free wifi but our kids wifi tablets did not work so we rely on on cellphones which was a big hassle.
Absolutely a wonderful stay. Great view from our rooms. Clean spotless rooms with comfortable beds. In the evening a bonfire is offered. Clean swimming pool, lovely grounds. Breakfast is a smooth plentiful operation (especially considering how booked the hotel was during our stay). The front desk staff is very helpful with suggestions for restaurants and local things to do.
We had upper floor room on Lake side well worth the extra money!!! Breakfast was okay just your basic breakfast... But is always edible..... We walked everywhere to the shops and Restaurants... Staff the Young Gentlemen especially were very helpful and kind....
We loved the newly remodeled room we stayed in. THe staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent with lots of options for food. The shuttle service was nice to have when it rained. The bonfire and marshmallows every night add a nice atmosphere. The hotel is right on the water with a nice beach to swim from, though it's a bit rocky. Loved our stay here and highly recommend it!
My husband, my 9 year old son and I stayed at Harbour Pointe in August of 2017. While walking on the grounds, I was impressed by the large lake front property and the amount of hotel buildings located on it. The included breakfast is exceptional. Breakfast was served in a large casual dining room with an attached covered patio. The rooms are updated and clean. There are 2 pools on property. My family swam in the indoor pool, because it was a little cold to be outside. We really enjoyed our 2 night stay, the only down side was that it was a little pricey, with the Saturday night stay pricing around $210.
No problem with our stay at this hotel. The staff at check in were helpful and accommodating. We added a night at check in and they were able to keep us in the same room. The room was clean and comfortable for the 4 of us. The pools were clean and nice. Outside of the goose droppings, which is hard to blame the hotel for because those things are tenacious, the hotel is well taken care of.
Excellent facility at any price. Rooms were clean and staff was friendly. Breakfast was one of the best complimentary ones I have experienced. Pools and view of the straits is worth the price. facilities are "four Star" and I will return at every opportunity.
Staff there are extremely friendly and helpful. Zach at the front desk was wonderful to work with. My kids love going to this hotel every year. Wonderful lakefront views, with great indoor/outdoor pools, playground area and campfire sight. Great people and wonderful Service.
We stayed a week and took the ferry to the island a couple times. We had a room overlooking Lake Huron. Beautiful view. We sat outside with our feet in the water every night at sunset. Marshmallow roast and bonfire every night at nine. The breakfast was hot - Eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy and waffles and cold - cereal, parties, fruit and yogurt. If you are going to the island you can find plenty of breakfast cafes there as well. The two pools were heated and perfect for the end of the afternoon before evening plans. St Ignace is more quiet than Mackinac City. MC is very touristy. Families might like it better but it is more expensive for hotels. We drove through the downtown one evening and it was packed. We opted for a walk along the waterfront. We will stay at the Best Western again.
I love this place. We specifically came back to this hotel and stayed in the same room (Deluxe Family). Great views of the sunrise, Mac Island, lake. Breakfast is excellent. The staff is extremely pleasant and accommodating. The Deluxe Family (Ontario building) is the best. Room is huge and if you get the corner unit, top floor you don't have to worry about anyone next to you and you can sit on the patio and relax.
Everything about my stay here was just amazing. Its my favorite little city that I have been traveling to on my own since I was 16 years old. Never stayed at this Hotel but I have at about every other one. I LOVED IT! I WILL RETURN! Family Friendly, Everyone was perfectly nice, rooms were perfectly clean. The Ontario Building was so close to the water that you an listen to the waves while falling asleep.
Staff was friendly. The room was large, newly remodeled in an attractive manor, carpet was clean and super soft. Room smelled good. Everything was very clean and worked properly. Bed was comfortable. It had microwave, fridge, iron and hair dryer. Loved that there was an outside pool (open til 10pm ) and an inside pool (open til 11pm) . Breakfast was good. Eggs, sausage, and had 3 waffle irons , danish, yogert, drinks etc. Dining area was clean and attendant kept items stocked. Appreciated that parking was free. I Enjoyed this hotel very much!
I am becoming impressed with Best Westerns lately. This one is on a very large plot of land on the lake, and has two large 3-4 story buildings with rooms, a small one story strip of rooms, a separate building for the registration desk, the indoor pool and breakfast room (which has a patio with tables), and an outdoor pool. There's a fire pit down near the water. The management takes logs and marshmallows down and light it at night (we and others brought graham crackers and chocolate bars from the nearby dollar store). While we were there a young man came with a guitar and played while we made s'mores. Our room in the one story building was large, and had chairs outside we could sit in to enjoy the lake view. Everything about it was great.
We stayed here for two nights. We were amazed at the sheer size of the hotel. We were based in the Ontario building . The room was great - really big , comfy arm chair ,footstool , tv with loads of channels (this was handy as the weather was not good ). The place was super clean (and I'm a neat freak!). Everywhere I looked staff were dusting, polishing and there was a constant smell of cleaning products (in a good way) . Breakfast was very good- starts at 6 am so brill for those with long journeys ahead like we did. It's a help yourself style with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, cereals, yoghurts, waffles (there were queues with kids for these) , fruit etc plenty for everyone and lots of seats . One thing we couldn't understand that there was no recycling in place , it seemed an awful waste of paper plates, cups etc as everything was just binned. There was a lovely heated indoor pool ( but no changing room just a single toilet) and a whirlpool. I had the pool to myself both days . There was also an outdoor pool - this was full of children and there were loveky Lovely sun loungers for parents to supervise their kids whilst they were swimming. Bonus was the bonfire and marshmallow toasting every evening at 9. A very nice hotel
We stayed in the hotel in mid July. We had a 2nd floor King room with a whirlpool tub. The room was nice and large. Room was clean. The bed and pillows were well used and not very comfortable. For the area, the porch is not much use because of the bugs. In fact, there was a sign in the room warning us to keep the screen door and sliding glass door closed to the balcony. It would be better for the hotel to screen in the balconies. Also, we tried to use the guest laundry several times. There is only one washer and dryer combo and they were always in use so we had to use a laundry mat up the street. Being a family, resort-type hotel, they should definitely expand their laundry facilities. The parking spaces are very narrow and the parking lot was difficult to get in and out. However, driving by the other options in town, I would say this is one of the better hotels and will probably stay here again when traveling through Saint Ignance.
Love the re-model of the rooms. This is a Great location !! Very clean rooms recently updated - great pool & hot tub stays open until 10 pm - good breakfast with plenty of variety - friendly & helpful staff
Stayed here for two nights to visit Mackinaw Island. My family loved the hotel! The outdoor pool and playground were a huge hit for the little ones. Our room was right on the water so our view was perfect! The room itself was clean and spacious. Also loved that they did a bonfire in the evenings with marshmallows for the kids. The breakfast was good and lots of seating so we didn't feel overcrowded. The only con for us was they only had one rolling cart for the whole hotel so we had to make several trips to get our bags from the car to the hotel room which isn't a huge deal just more of an annoyance. Overall can't say enough great things about the hotel, would definitely go back!
This is a great hotel to stay at if you're goal is the above. It's a clean and quaint hotel that is within a couple blocks of the boat launch to Mackinac Island, and they have nightly bonfires that's fun for the kids. The rooms were clean and the property is well maintained.
Stayed at this location for two nights recently. The hotel and staff were both pleasant surprises. The room was spacious and well maintained. The view of Lake Huron was great. I recommend this hotel to others traveling in the area.
We stayed at this Best Western for one night in a king room in the Superior building before going to Mackinac Island for two nights. When we returned, we stayed in a King Suite in the Ontario building. Concerning the first night - This building is convenient to one of the pools. It was fine but at times we could hear others in the building. Concerning the four nights in the King Suite - This was a great accommodation. The two separate rooms were both large and comfortable. From the balcony we had a perfect view of the Saturday night fireworks from the city park in St Ignace. It was a good center point for visiting places in the Upper Peninsula. Star Ferry Line is very close to the hotel. Breakfast had lots of typical choices for a hotel breakfast (with especially good waffles). There was lots of seating and several people making sure food was replaced as needed. We enjoyed our stay
The bed was OK, but the air conditioner came on like a freight train and cycled every 15 minutes through the night. The view was OK, but people are busy feeding the gulls and the noise is bad. Breakfast is free, but there are so many guests that it is hard to get anything. Service was OK
We stayed at the Best Western Harbour Pointe and it was one of the nicest Best Western's we have experienced. There are numerous buildings that house rooms and ours was on the lake front, which I highly recommend - nice view and pleasant sound of small waves on the back balcony. Many seagulls so don't be alarmed, but they were entertaining too. There are many young families staying at this hotel so it is best to get an early breakfast before it gets too crazy. Overall, would book this hotel and building again.
We originally booked a two night stay to the Baymont Hotel in Saint Ignace. Upon arrival, our experience there was terrible. Luckily, we were able to cancel and move to Best Western Harbour Point for the second night. The room was updated, clean and fresh. It still smelt like new carpet! On top of this our room had a balcony overlooking the lake....AND the room was still less expensive then the terrible Baymont just down the street. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking to stay in St.Ignace. The workers were friendly, professional, and helpful.
I have stayed at this location many times, it never disappoints. The staff were very helpful and go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. Within walking distance of downtown shops and restaurants.
Beautiful location right on lake Superior. Rooms were large and clean. But all building s are unattached to breakfast building so in the pouring rain we had to drive to it. Bonfire and fireworks at night.
Everything about our stay was terrific. We were able to navigate the area easily and enjoyed the quieter pace than what we found in Mackinaw City. We appreciated having a refrigerator and microwave in the room. The breakfast was excellent. The hotel is located near the ferry to go to the island.
This Best Western was very clean, at a good location for things we wanted to visit. The breakfast choices were very delicious. Our daughter-in-law has a gluten allergy and they even had some gluten free options for her. The hotel was located near the water so we had a water view from our room.
Saint Ignace is a little slower paced and friendlier place than Mackinaw City in my opinion. Prices are a little better and so is the service. Both are very true of the Best WesternHarbour Pointe. Beautifully remodeled with plush carpet, beautiful furniture and great beds. We had a corner unit in the Huron building. Very spacious with windows on one side and sliding doors to a private balcony on the lake side. Beautiful! Breakfast room was large enough to accomodate everyone. Choices were plentiful and food was good! Will definitely be our go-to hotel when in this area.
Hotel looked well kept. Nicely decorated. We stayed in the family suites which were excellent in logistics, but the AC situation for the separate bedroom area left MUCH to be desired!! Breakfast , housekeeping and front desk staffs all very good and helpful. We stayed during 4th of July week so prices were quite inflated.
Hotel is very clean and comfortable. Grounds are well cared for. Plenty of space for children to run and play also has a small playground. A fire pit to sit around in the evening is a nice touch. Hotel has a very nice sparkling clean pool. A great place to stay with or with out children. Room fee was a bit high as it was the week of the Chicago to Mackinac race.
Excellent location, welcoming staff, knowledgeable about all inquiries and very nicely decorated rooms. Enjoyed their breakfast each morning. This has been our 4th stay at the Harbour Pointe Lakefront.
We stayed on 3rd floor partial view of lake and poolside. Great hotel. Good breakfast. Bed was a little hard for me but I like a soft bed. Couldn't hear anyone in the next room. I definitely recommend.
The hotel and service were great. The kids loved the pool. One downside was the goose poo... We would stay again at this hotel. Very close to the ferry boats to go to the island. Easy to find. Great staff.
Decided to stay off Mackinac Island to avoid paying 2-3 times as much. The was a great value. It's a 2 block walk to the ferry and unless you're doing a romantic weekend or something on the island, I don't see paying the extra to stay on the island. I got a bike, got all around it and enjoyed everything I came for in about 4 hours, hoped back on the ferry and went back to my much cheaper room. The room was newly renovated so clean and nicely done.
Room very clean and modern. Parking was very convenient and right by the room. Breakfast was exceptionally good. Perhaps one of the best I have had at these places. Something a bit different every day. The enclosed breakfast porch was very nice.
This hotel has a beautiful setting on the lake. We had a wonderful view and enjoyed every minute we could on the balcony. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were so hospitable. We will definitely stay next time in the area.
This is such a lovely hotel to stay at right on Lake Huron. The rooms look out onto Mackinac Island and you can watch the ferry boats traveling back and forth. The staff is extremely friendly, great breakfast, the internet connection was one of the best we've encountered. Upon check-in, we received our Harley discount because we were on our motorcycles and were given a room where we could see our bikes at all times. The room was well decorated and up to date.
I did not expect to be able to walk out of my room and right on the beach, but that's what they delivered. And the make-your-own malted waffles were too good. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The bed was a bit smaller than I expected, full instead of queen I guess, but there were two of them so we made out OK. I didn't pay any attention to what the bed size was when I made the reservation. If you're planning on two to a bed and they are not little people, better check on that better than I did.
The staff are friendly, full of knowledge and go above and beyond to care for their guest. Our room comfortable, clean, and had a view that was out of this world. This hotel is close to the Ferry's that will pick you up at your hotel door. It is close to shopping and dining as well. We will defiantly return on future trips to Yooperville.
This hotel is clean, clean, clean, top to bottom, ceiling to floor, wall to wall. Chest drawers, sinks, bathtub: completely clean. There was absolutely no 'ick' or 'fear' factor in taking a shower, reaching into a dark corner to plug something in, etc. I'm very discerning when it comes to the cleanliness of a hotel room, and I don't think it would be going too far to say it was immaculate. I can't overstate how far this went in making the room entirely comfortable to stay in. And, this is very first hotel I've stayed in that had a USABLE balcony. Why? Because it, too, was very clean, no dirt, sand, mud, dead bugs, live spiders, webs--nothing. Just clean with two clean chairs to enjoy the outside air and awesome view. I don't know how they could possibly keep an outside balcony THAT clean! This extreme level of cleanliness, along with the location, is a prime factor in the likelihood of us returning. The free breakfast was fairly extensive and included sausage patties, scrambled eggs, waffles, fresh fruit, cereal, instant oatmeal, yogurt, toast, bagels and muffins/rolls. It was served in a very nice area with big windows and another, almost completely windowed, side room. These were common areas that people enjoyed playing games in, etc., at other times. Front desk, cleaning, breakfast area, yard maintenance staff--all staff we encountered were helpful, nice, friendly. Facility/grounds: Note to indoor pool/exercise room users: These are both in separate buildings from the hotel rooms. The exercise room building included a coin-operated washer and dryer. There is a fairly large grassy area that includes shoreline (more for wading than swimming) and a grill and children's play area. Lots of geese and gulls. There are four separate buildings of rooms. Nice, fenced-in (with clear 'fencing) outdoor pool. Room/amenities: The refrigerator was one of those 'cube' refrigerators; there will be no freezer portion (except enough to hold an ice cube tray). The coffee maker only makes one cup at a time. Blow dryer, full-size iron, soap (very nice soap!), shampoo and conditioner provided. Toilet/bath separate from sink; sink area not directly open to bed area (so light and privacy not as much of an issue for this type of arrangement). Adequate to good amount of surfaces to put your stuff. Lamps by bed on wall, leaving nightstand surfaces completely empty (except for alarm clock on one) for your use. Bed not as comfortable as expected given rest of quality but good enough. Pillows made of a material that is comfortable but makes you warm/hot after a while (and I never have that problem). We stayed in Room 352 of the Ontario Building which was directly across from Mackinaw Island; looking to the west, you could see the St. Ignace lighthouse and some land/buildings; looking to the east you saw pure lake. The Ontario building will provide the best lake views. This hotel is just outside the direct downtown area but in easy walking distance.
visited in july. overall, a good hotel. nice breakfast buffet. but here's some constructive criticism: 1. housekeeping needs to do a better job 2. too many insects.... get an exterminator!!!! 3. bathrooms need better ventilation! (steamy showers/bathrooms are not pleasant) 4. drain those ponds!!! it attracts more bugs
This hotel was great, staff was wonderful, view was amazing. Highly recommend it for a weekend getaway. Close to the downtown area which was wonderful, allowed us to get some quality walking time in. Made a day trip to the falls and White Fish point, beautiful drive along the forest. The staff was friendly and outgoing, good experience all around.
This is a nice hotel with clean rooms that offers suites which my wife and I prefer. There are a lot of rooms with balconies overlooking the Straits Of Mackinaw, the town is very picturesque, but they earned their 5 stars by having the most pleasant and helpful staff imaginable! I've dealt with Raleigh some, but Garth in depth and they were both so patient, pleasant and helpful. I really put Garth through to the test -- had him on the phone for quite some time making our reservation -- fumbling around trying to jog other res's I'd made, calling my wife to confirm I was making the right choices, etc. He never once let on that he had anything better to do that make us happy. 5 stars, Garth!
Three nights of bliss. Very well kept property with friendly and helpful staff. We were in the Ontario building which sits on the lake. The sound of the breaking waves and the seagulls are wonderfully calming. We left the balcony door open the entire time we stayed in the room (screen door closed), and went to sleep and woke up to the sound of the waves. Good clean rooms. Great breakfast. The children enjoyed the evening bonfire and the roasted marshmallows. It is wonderful way to relax at the end of the day and meet other visitors. Four buildings are spread out over a large property. We used the pool which is the main office and the breakfast area, and the outdoor heated pool is a couple of steps walk from the office. If you are taking a ferry to the Mackinac Island (a must visit), the hotel office sells discounted tickets and offers free shuttle back and forth. B&C pizza (?) is close by and delivers to the hotel. Good pizza and great service and remains open quite late unlike most restaurants in this little town. The vending machine in our building was not accepting money and the lady working in housekeeping came by and offered us change and did not want us to pay her back! We had to force her to take the money from us. God bless her. If I had to go back, I would not stay any where else.
We stayed one night here. Before booking, we googled and checked all pictures on the web. This hotel building is nothing like pictures posted on their web, expedia or orbit . All rooms are in different building. our room was on MOTEL look, straight line, open building and all first floor. This is renovated motel. Campfire and fire works was going on in the front of the room. People were outside at the door beyond midnight. There was no safety. People can open and walk in the room any time. I called front desk and talked to Sandy. She was rude. She said, this is what you booked and this is what you got. I did not see these room on the web. Web and hotel website shows different pictures. There is big poster in the parking lot, advertising this hotel. Its also shows the buiding which is not the same in this property. I was not feeling comfortable. All the pictures are wrong on the web. For breakfast , you have to walk or drive to the main building They charged a lot . We paid $188 for this motel looks room. Do Not book this hotel
My family stayed here for a night and we were very happy with our experience. The staff was very helpful & friendly. Checking in and out was quick. Our room was clean, beds were comfortable, and we loved our lake view. The hot breakfast was very good! Plenty to pick from and the food was better than any hotel breakfast we have ever had. I would stay here again.
This hotel is really great. Customer service will make or break an establishment, and it definitely makes this one! They are right on the water and a short walk from downtown. We stay here every time we are in St. Ignace. Rooms are nice and clean. They have a great fire pit area. They have a nice spot on the beach to watch fireworks. Both indoor and outdoor pools are nice size and well kept. Overall great place to stay, especially for families!
Large, clean, comfortable, and quiet room at a lower rate than comparable rooms in Mackinaw City. Breakfast bar had good variety and quality. Within walking distance of Mackinac ferry departure points.
Awesome hotel, incredible staff! We never stay anywhere else! We use the 2 and 3 bedroom family units. Love the breakfast! Indoor and outdoor pools are both great! Staff goes out of their way to make it a fun stay for the family, including a nightly campfire!
Newly renovated rooms and central location make this a great place for anyone traveling to Mackinac Island with family! Breakfast is well represented for all tastes and diets and very kid-friendly! Highly recommend this hotel as the service and quality was perfect for our needs.
We stayed here for one night and were very impressed with the room. It seemed like the hotel rooms were newly renovated and our room also had the fresh paint smell. The room was very clean and had a beautiful view of Lake Michigan. The hotel areas we visited were very clean and looked nice. The staff we interacted with were very helpful and went out of their way to assist us. Would definitely stay here again.
Our stay at this Best Western was awesome- stayed for 4 nights and 3 days and used it as a base for exploring the UP- the customer service was excellent- Everyone from front desk to Manager was courteous and willing to help; wish I had written names down! The hotel was very clean- grounds , pools, breakfast area! Breakfast was good offering a wide variety of cold and hot foods! Area was very clean with three ladies constantly replacing items and helping out! We stayed at the Huron Bldg facing the lake!
Convenient hotel to Sheplers Ferry. 5 minute walk from hotel. Loved our room, very clean and comfortable. Right on the water. Beautiful sunrises from our room. Wonderful breakfast. Will definitely stay again when I visit and will recommend to friends and family.
We stayed two nights here and we're glad we did! Very nice, well-kept property. Rooms are grouped into different buildings. We were in the Ontario bldg and our room faced right out in the lake. When you walked in to the room and looked out the sliding door onto the balcony, all you saw was water! We left our balcony door open a bit and listened to the waves all night. Free breakfast was very good. We didn't use the pools, but they had both an indoor and outdoor one. We could walk to Shepler's Ferry, only 2 blocks away. The only downside of this place was you had to walk to the main bldg for breakfast, but not that big of a deal. Would recommend!
I highly recommend the Best Western Harbour Pointe Lakefront. The staff is incredibly courteous and helpful; going above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. The rooms are spotless (thanks Erica!), with new furnishings and carpet and the view can't be beat. We extended our stay and the manager, Ron, was so accommodating, going as far as to reach out to another guest, so we could stay in our current room. It started to feel like home away from home. Excellent value for the location. The BW Harbour Pointe is the only place we'll stay when visiting St. Ignace. We can't wait to go back!
The hotel, (building, grounds, pool, room), is well maintained and the room was very comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. The evening bonfire was a nice touch to help relax at the end of the day. The breakfast is better than most hotels.
Beautiful hotel, right on the beach. Our room is a whirlpool suite in the Ontario Building. It has a little deck that faces a bonefire pit and faces the water with a great view of Mackinac Island. It has a huge bedroom with a separate living area and is very clean!! The breakfast is good, with lots of choices, from eggs and sausage, to waffles or cereal. There are 2 beautiful pools, one inside and the other outside. The best part is the staff!! They are so friendly and helpful!! We got here an hour early and were able to check in, and get our tickets for the ferry to the island right from the hotel, and we were on the boat within 20 minutes of crossing the bridge. I believe Andrea was at the front desk that day and she was so helpful!! The next morning we were heading to the falls and Ronn the manager was at the front desk, he gave us so much useful information on the area and chatted with us again this morning about our trip to the falls. The housekeepers, breakfast crew, and groundskeepers are all wonderful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and will be back again!! Thank you for a great stay!!
We decided on a last minute trip to the UP with our two young children, and were so impressed with this hotel. We ended up staying two nights because it was SO clean and the staff were beyond friendly and helpful. There was also a bonfire/s'more roast near the lake that we didn't partake it, but looked like a ton of fun. Will definitely stay again!
We stayed 1 night on the way to the UP. Upon check in we were upgraded to a lakefront room. Fantastic! Very clean room, great staff and nice breakfast in the morning. Will for sure stay again on next trip.
My wife and I recently had a 3 night stay at the Best Western Harbour Pointe in the Superior building. Our room overlooked Lake Huron and Mackinac Island. Spectacular! The room was clean and the cleaning staff took good care of us. The bed was comfortable, excellent Wifi and cable tv. Breakfast was fine. Coffee, juice, waffles, eggs, sausage, yogurt, fruit, etc. My only minor complaint was the menu was the same all 3 days. I prefer bacon vs. sausage, but that's just me. The front desk staff helped us with discount tickets for the ferry to the island as well as carriage tour tickets. They also helped with directions to local sights. Would stay at this Best Western again.
Love this hotel. Have died other hotel in area, would recommend this one. Staff is friendly. Rooms are very clean. Kids enjoy the playground and the marshmallows at the bonfire. Nice outdoor pool but wasn't open this time.
My husband and I brought my Momma up to Michigan for vacation. We loved the 2 separate bedrooms. It worked out fantastic for us. Everyone was extremely friendly, breakfast was great and we loved the location. We will definately stay here again
Took my senIor group to Mackinauu Island and stayed here for a couple of days. It is by far one of the best motels that I have ad the pleasure of dealing with. The rooms are clean, easily accessible . They went above and beyond . Always willing to please. There are 43 in my group, each and everyone of them were very pleased. The breakfast was more than enough. The staff each and everyone made our short stay a rewarding experience .
We would recommend this place highly. The staff is so increadably friendly and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. They have a yummy breakfast that is well stocked and tasty. I fully intend to stay again.
The staff was not very welcoming, the room was ok nothing special. The breakfast was not that great. The location was great ..good view of the water and close to the Ferrys. They helped us get tickets for Ferry and Carriage tour of the Island.
My experience is probably not typical but it was disappointing nonetheless. First, I booked a king suite with a Jacuzzi tub through the website. The pictures of the room showed two rooms with a dividing wall between. When we got to the hotel, it was just one standard sized hotel room with a Jacuzzi. This would not have been a problem if that was the picture that was online when I booked. Then the A/C went out, which was not a big deal because it was not really warm outside, I just like a cool room. The manager came and reset it but it kept turning of after a few minutes, he offered to have someone come and look at it but it was too late for me to bother. Other than these issues we really enjoyed the hotel. It was very clean and the staff was friendly. Good continental breakfast and the view was beautiful. It was right on the lake with no obstructions and lots of grassy area where you can walk and enjoy the sunrise. The décor is a bit dated but is standard for northern Michigan. The Jacuzzi tub was big enough for two and worked great. I will probably book there again given the location and pricing.
We had a small group that traveled here and when they didn't have our rooms available, they upgraded us for the same price and for the whole group. The whole staff were friendly, accommodating to even the smallest request, excellent job wherever you were on the grounds and an absolute delight to stay there for a week. I just can't say enough for how clean it was and from the biggest of groups to an individual spending a night, I can't imagine that anything was out of place. They had a shuttle service for getting around the grounds for anyone that needed it. They cleaned the rooms so efficiently that even my son's best buddy (stuffed turtle) was treated with respect every evening when we returned. Thank you Best Western for treating my family and the 6 other families we brought with such care, thoughtfulness and kindness we wanted for nothing, so far from home.
I went through Booking.com and got this room for a decent price almost 10 months before our trip, but failed to get a room with a view! Really regret not doing this! Very clean room, but the AC was noisy or something was loose on it. The staff was very nice and the breakfast was okay. Would have loved to see some fresher fruit like strawberries, grapes, melon.
I was traveling to the UP with 2 of my adult sons to attend a memorial service for a dear friend. After a long day of driving through construction and rain deluges, it was with great delight we found this hotel that offered a suite with a King and 2 queen beds so that each of us could rest beautifully and we didn't need to get a second room. Very nicely appointed. Clean as a whistle. The staff most welcoming and breakfast to boot. I plan on a trip back to stay here when I visit the area and Mackinaw Island.
Stayed two nights last weekend rooms were clean and the staff was great they even told me how much they loved my shirt I'll stay there every time I'm in town the view of the sunrise was awesome can't beat lying in bed and watching it rise
This hotel was perfect for what we wanted on this trip. The hotel was clean and very accominating, close to St Ignace and the ferry docks. The staff was helpful with advise as to where to eat and the purchase of ferry passes to Mackinaw Island
This is a very nice hotel, seems recently remodeled. Clean, bright, great staff, well above breakfasts. All rooms have lake view. Very good price also. Although we were pre season; many restaurants are nearby.
We stayed here after touring the UP. This is a beautiful hotel right on the water. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We had a balcony and were right overlooking the water. This is a large facility with several areas to stay in. Both an indoor and outdoor pool. The staff was working hard on the grounds. The front desk crew was great and the breakfast was good. Overall a very nice hotel at a reasonable price. We will be back.
Stayed for two nights in April 2017. Enjoyed a great lake view, breakfast was fine, and the room was clean and pleasant. We'll be back! Thank you to staff for alerting us of something we left behind, and arranging for it to be sent to us!
The view was impeccable. The service was amazing and very helpful. The rooms were outstanding especially for the price point. The only thing was that the room didn't have a microwave which would have been nice for late night snacks.
Beautiful view of the lake and Mackinac Island from your deck or balcony. Peaceful quiet place with oversized rooms and comfy beds. The warm breakfast with eggs, sausage, biscuits/gravy, waffles etc. gets you going for a long day ahead.
Very nice room, extra seating was nice, bed was great. View was incredible. Breakfast was ok. Only downside, we requested a handicapped accessible room. Didn't receive one. I was physically unable to change rooms due to fatigue... It was somewhat difficult but we managed. Perhaps they had no more handicapped rooms but they didn't advise my DH at check in.
We found this place and glad we did, If you like relaxing by a bonfire along with watching great lakes freighters, ( if your a BOATNERD) this is your place, Or if you just like the great outdoors in the UP of Michigan, Island shopping, lighthouses, trails, waterfalls, pictured rocks it is all a short drive to attractions. The staff is very helpful and friendly, rooms are clean and have spectacular views of the grounds and islands
We have one of the king suites with a Jacuzzi and lake view. It's a big, beautiful room and the Jacuzzi works well. We can walk out our room's sliding glass door and get to the lake. The maid service is great. The free breakfast is exceptional. There are only two drawbacks - one minor and one major. The minor: no microwave and only the tiniest fridge. In a suite like this, I'd expect more. The major: the big green space outside that leads to the lake is where the fire pit and playground are. It's also almost completely covered in goose poop. We picked our way around the edge to get to the lake, but it was really nasty. I asked if they clean it up during the main tourist season (we are here just before the season), and was told they try, but it's hard to keep ahead of it. Later that day, they came by with a leaf vacuum on a lawnmower and cleaned up by our building, but there is still a lot of goose droppings in the rest of the space. They advertise having this great open area, but unless they get the goose problem under control, its not much good. Lovely resort otherwise.
The hotel staff was very friendly. The room was very spacious with a fantastic view! We stayed in a three bedroom two bathroom suite. It was also very clean and breakfast was very nice. I would highly recommend this hotel.
My wife and I stayed there for 2 nights and we liked almost everything about this hotel. It has several buildings on the property from which to choose your room. The staff was friendly, very quick to respond to a beeping smoke alarm battery, and the full breakfast was more than adequate. We would definitely recommend this place if you are around the St. Ignace area on vacation.
this is a great hotel and worth the trip over the bridge if you are going to Mackinac island. we stayed one night right on the lake frt. room was very nice and clean. they even lit a bonfire for us and provided marshmallows to roast. the staff is extremely nice. will definitely be back.
Great time with my family, moments to remember. I stay 3 days while enjoying the rest of Michigan, beautiful place and great staff. Definitely will stay there again on my next trip with my family! A little to expensive.
The BW Harbour Pointe Lakefront is a nice and clean hotel right on the lake. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are nice, the people nice and they offer free shuttle to the casino and ferries. We love the fact it's non-smoking, provides nice free breakfasts, has a nice pool and is in a quiet setting.
This hotel is the best of a half dozen hotels I've used in St. Ignace. Reasonably priced, spacious, clean rooms with view of lake, Mackinac Island and the hotel pool from balcony. Convenient parking. Very good hot breakfast filled up 6 kids and 2 adults. Tour bus people can make breakfast area congested but be patient; the breakfast is worth the wait. Kids enjoyed the campfire provided by the hotel in the area overlooking Lake Huron. Hotel is located a couple minutes north of the ferry docks for the Island. Highly recommended. Will return summer of 2017-in fact from now on it's the only place I'll stay in St. Ignace
We rented two rooms for our family of eight. We had a very pleasant stay. Our kids loved the indoor and outdoor pools, and they really enjoyed playing around on the lakeshore. Breakfast was really complete, with lots of variety of hot foods as well as pastries and such. Everything was very clean and well kept. We had a minor confusion on the number of nights we were staying, but a check in with the front desk cleared things up immediately. We would stay again with no hesitation. Very professional staff.
The first thing I said to the Reception Desk people was to get better photos of their property on their website. We almost didn't book here due to the poor photos but glad we took a chance. We had a king room on the 3rd floor which was very large with a balcony with table and chairs. Bathroom was fairly new. Our room overlooked the Lake which was beautiful. Lots of green space, well kept grounds, elevator building, heated outdoor pool, great breakfast selection included with a sunlit breakfast room. Very clean. Definitely recommend.
Best Western Harbour Pt. Lakefront was extremely well kept up and clean. We saw employees cleaning the location everyday. The staff was always friendly and extremely accommodating. We had a problem with our reservations and the staff at the front desk took care of it immediately. It was nice to sit by the fire at night! We stayed here 7 days, 6 nights and enjoyed every bit of it!! Can't wait to return back!!
Stayed in the Ontario Building with a jacuzzi suite. Very roomy, awesome view, balcony and friendly staff. I will be returning to this property again. Close to restaurants, ferry access and Macinaw Island.
My sister and I stay at this motel every year the first or second week in October. As a matter of fact, we have already made reservations for 2017---that's how much we enjoy our time there. The facilities are modern and well cared for, and the staff is always friendly and efficient. But most importantly, the rooms in the Ontario building all have private balconies less than 20 yards from Lake Huron!
We booked this hotel through a 3rd party, and we booked a lake view king room. We didn't know what building we were in until we checked in. We were assigned room 346 in the Ontario building. First, I need to give a big shout out to Ronn. I sent several questions via email before our trip, and Ronn was so awesome at getting back to me quickly. We had back and forth correspondence several times before our trip, and he was very patient with this worrier :) Seriously, he was amazing! I didn't get to meet him until our last morning, and it was only briefly. But he was as friendly in person as he was through email. I also spoke with another person once we were already in the room. I had sent Ronn an email after we checked in, asking about lake view vs. partial lake view rooms. Ronn was off site when I sent the email, but within 15 minutes of me sending it, another employee called me in our room to ensure everything was ok. He genuinely felt bad that we didn't get the full lake view that I thought we requested. He said he could switch us to another room, but it would be a queen instead of a king, and that would only be for 2 nights. They would have to move us again for the 3rd and 4th night. I explained to him that I wasn't upset about our room, just confused about the description. I didn't want to move, but I was super impressed with the speed that Ronn and the other associate tried to take care of the situation. I've really never had such good customer service at a hotel before. I can't remember the other employee's name; I think it started with an R, maybe Raleigh? I'm bad with names, but I remember how friendly he was. The room we were in was on the top floor of the Ontario building, room 346. It had very high ceilings, which makes the room seem bigger. It was right off the elevator (which was nice for us and not noisy at all). It was a very spacious room with a king bed, dresser, mini fridge, big flat screen tv, several chairs, and tables, and a balcony. We had plenty of room for our pack and play (see pictures). The vanity was separate from the bathroom, which we prefer. Opposite the vanity was a good sized closet. The mini fridge was under the counter in the vanity. The bathroom had one of those curved shower rods, which makes the shower feel bigger. Everything was very clean, and housekeeping was great everyday; we were there for 4 nights (don't forget to tip your housekeeping!). There is not as much parking as I thought there would be. We were fine, but we also visited in October. I can't imagine how crowded it gets in the summer time. There is only 1 luggage cart, so make sure to snag it! We didn't know about it when we were taking everything up to the room, and we had a ton of stuff! My husband had to make 3 trips. But we saw someone using it while we were unloading, so that's when we knew it existed. We made sure to use it when we checked out. They have a great beach and lawn area. Yes, there is goose poop. But there is goose poop anywhere there are a lot of geese. It wasn't a big deal for us, though I know some other reviewers complained. We tried to avoid stepping in it when visiting the beach, but we just washed the bottom of our shoes when we went back into the hotel. There is a play area for children that we didn't use, but it looked like a nice play ground. There is a bonfire area that is very nice. They have nightly bonfires and smores at 7:30pm (weather dependent of course). We checked in on a very rainy day, so they didn't have the bonfire that night. The other nights we never made it back to the hotel in time. On our last night, they did have it, but we were so tired and needed to pack that we didn't go. We did see it from our balcony though, and it looked like fun. A hot breakfast was included in the room price. It was excellent, but beware, it can get pretty busy, especially with the tour buses rolling through. There are 2 seating areas, but one of them is on an enclosed porch, so it is not really used on a cold October morning. We tried to get to breakfast by 8am every morning, and even then it was sometimes packed. On the menu: eggs, sausage patties, waffles, bagels, toast, cereal, sausage and gravy (every other day), biscuits, breakfast potatoes (every other day, opposite the sausage and gravy), milk, juice, water, coffee, tea, and pastries. I really enjoyed our breakfast every day, and the employees are always present replenishing. Please be nice to them; they are trying to keep up with high traffic. Overall, I would stay here again in a heartbeat!
Very nice place to stay, good breakfast included. We stayed in family suite, had three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Good for family with kids One of the bedroom did not have a window. The rooms have TV's,two small fridges. Nice view from the balcony.
Stayed for a night at the hotel while my trip on 22nd Oct. it was a good hotel with all basic amenities and on the bank of the lake. It has very nice view and would recommend. I have reached St. Ignace in the morning. Hotel had arranged ferry tickets at discounted rates. You have option to park at hotel or in ferry parking. Both options are free. I chose to park at hotel. Ferry Co. has free pickup and drop option. There are so many restaurants serving food if you are going in season. I went in 3rd week of Oct which was almost end of the season so limited food options. Overall it was very good experience.
very clean and modern friendly staff good breakfast excellent view from room of the lake lots of cable channels good parking pool was nice and clean elevators were fast with no waiting cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful
GET THE LAKEVIEW. you have no choice. It was absolutely beautiful and worth it. Rooms were clean and had a mini fridge. Another plus... Breakfast. One of the few hotels that I know (I travel a lot too) who offer complimentary HOT breakfast. First day was sausage, eggs, potatoes and other stuff too. It wasn't far at all from the bridge. Parking was sufficient. Have to park on the grass for check in though (it's easier). Friendly and great staff! Would highly recommend.
The room had one of the best TVs and cable channel selection of any hotel I have every stayed in. In addition, they had one of the best free breakfasts I've ever had. That being said. At breakfast it seemed like the entire town was there, so I was curious whether they open their meals to the community for $. Also, no microwave in the room, which is very bizarre. Not just in our room, in no rooms. Also, parking was very tight - very tough to get in and out. I'm assuming this hotel is rated #1 in trip adviser because the other choice are even less average. If you need anything in Mackinac City it will cost you $8 round trip to cross the bridge. So if we went back, we'd likely stay on the Mackinaw City side of the bridge.
This hotel was top notch. The room (Jacuzzi suite) and view (lake) were fabulous. We both thought the breakfast was outstanding with a lot of different options. I booked this at Best Westerns website and it was also easy to use. I recommend this hotel to all.
The room was very comfortable. the best beds i have slept in at a hotel in a long time. they have a bon fire at night and the view of the lake is great. we had out own private balcony. the showers are very good too. the breakfast and the area to sit at was wonderful.
We stayed at this hotel once before and decided we wanted to go back for our 40th anniversary. The buildings and grounds are extremely well kept (beautiful) and the staff is very pleasant and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and plan to return for another visit in the future. I give it the most, five stars!
This is a large complex with separate buildings. My husband and I stayed in the Ontario Building which is closest to Lake Huron. We had a great view of the Lake to watch the sunrise in the morning, or watch the ferry come and go from Mackinaw Island. The room was spacious, clean and updated. It is a walk uphill to breakfast or the pool if that is a concern. Breakfast had a great variety of hot and cold items. Good coffee as well. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Dinner options are not within walking distance, but only a short drive. Loved our stay.
From the moment we checked in, we were pleased with the property. Room was clean, well maintained, and very nicely decorated. Million dollar view, welcomed by geese and swans. Bonfire at night, fantastic breakfast in the mornings. Dining area very welcoming and accessible. Outdoor and indoor pools. Thanks for such a nice place to stay. Great Location! Highly recommend!!!??
Shower water temp. not regulated. If you have kids be careful of the water temp. WiFi not secured. Exercise room not convient location. I would stay here again. When booking/checkin ask for the "Lake Superior" building; it is the most convient location.
My husband and I stayed in St. Ignace as our jumping off point for all the northern Michigan sight seeing. Having a room that was just a few feet from Lake Huron made it feel like it was one of our destinations. Some might think the rooms are a tad bit dated but ours was clean and very comfortable. We had a couple of recommendations from the staff for places to eat and they were awesome. If I am ever in that area again I won't hesitate to go back there to stay.
The room was spacious and the queen beds comfortable. It is easy to get to and for the money was really nice. Room was quiet. Breakfast was quite a nice surprise. We would stay here with the family anytime we were in the area.
We've stayed twice now at Harbour Pointe. It is in pristine condition. The staff is friendly, welcoming and efficient. The location is unequaled. Right on Lake Huron, you can see the sunrise or the moonrise. They have balcony rooms 35feet from the water. You have nothing between you. It feels like the balcony of a cruise ship. We'd like to come every month for the full moon. They, however, close for the winter and won't reopen until April.
This hotel has large rooms with great balconies. Try to get an East facing balcony and you can see the sun rise over beautiful Lake Huron. Amenities include both indoor and outdoor swimming pools and nightly fires in the fire pit with marshmallow roasting and s'mores during the warmer months. The free breakfast has both hot and cold options with extensive choices. You can sit inside or on a tented outdoor patio to enjoy your breakfast. I would definitely stay here again.
Very nice. Way better than expected. This is a fairly new property. We got a room overlooking the lake. It was very large with refrigerator. No microwave. Ice machine by front entrance. We would definitely stay here again.
We stayed at this hotel for our vacation and it was amazing. We were welcomed by a very friendly staff and the view of the lake from our room was breathtaking. I would recommend this hotel to everyone who wanted a perfect fall getaway.
We stayed in the Ontario building and our location couldn't have been better! We really enjoyed the sunrise from our patio. Our room was clean and the staff very friendly. My only concern with this property is security. Very poor lighting in the parking lot, no lock on main exterior door (a must in my mind as the staff is located in another building), and no functioning locks on the screen doors. The last would have been nice as we wanted to enjoy the sound of the water from our room but had to utilize the lock on inner glass door instead.
Right off the bat the front desk people were very nice. Our room was clean with good furniture and bedding. We also had a great view of the lake. The breakfast was complimentary and had a decent selection of items to choose from. The nightly fire and s'mores in the large fire pit by the lake is a nice touch also. That is weather permitting though.
We stayed in 200 in the Huron section. It had a balcony with a good view of the lake. It was a hotel type room and was very clean. Breakfast was good and the staff was exceptionally nice. The only negative, and reason for a four rating, instead of a five; was the beds were small and not real comfortable. Otherwise everything was good!
Our room was clean, well organized and spacious. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the amazing view of the lake. Check in was quick and efficient. The staff was friendly and helpful. This was the first time we stayed in this hotel and we will definitely return.
We found the hotel to be very clean and a staff that wanted you to be fully satisfied. They expressed their interest in you by maintaining an exceptionally clean place. The room was very clean, bathroom was clean, the breakfast eating area was very clean with the help of two and sometime 3 people wiping the food counter and tables and making sure the food containers were at least half full with food. Their presence at the check- in counter, and breakfast area assured me that they wanted a hotel with high standards to meet the needs of the people.
Our room was in a building close to the water. Our day had been a long one with lots of miles, so we wanted to retreat to our room instead of go out for dinner. The lobby staff recommended a great pizza joint about a mile away, we were not disappointed! We had a great view of boats on the water, and in the evening the staff built a bonfire in a fire pit in the park-like grass area between our room and the shore. Guests were treated to Smores and some great conversations. Traveling with a disabled family member was made slightly difficult by our "first floor" room, which was slightly below grade and meant dealing with stairs (our building had no elevator). On the plus side, our room included a separate bedroom for the disabled party, so we could continue to visit with other guests and not worry about waking our relative. The breakfast was fairly typical but well-stocked and plentiful. We would stay again!
From the time we checked in and until we checked out things at this motel could not have been better. From the check in staff to the house keeping staff it was outstanding. The cleanlyness of our room Could not have been better. The grounds are keept immaculate. If you want a place to kick back and enjoy the bonfire every night at 7:30 and great amenities. We will definitely be coming back. That is the best review I can give any place.
I can't believe it but about 30 minutes ago we heard water running and then a pump came on. The noise is unbelievably loud to the point we checked to see what type of equipment was running outside only to find nothing. When I called the desk the clerk said it was probably a jacuzzi running in the room above us and if it didn't stop later tonight he would take a walk past the room and see if that is what happening and if it went on too long he would give the room a call. This is mid October and town is dead. There are 3 cars in the parking lot and this is a very large complex. 1. Why would we be placed under a room with a jacuzzi (which they have apparently received other complaints about) when there are many available rooms, 2. Why would the designer put an extremely noisy piece of equipment above another room? 3. Why doesn't management give a hoot?
We stayed here one night after returning from Mackinac Island. The room was very clean and comfy, including a fabulous picture on the TV. The front desk employees were very nice at check in. Explained everything regarding the facility including the bonfire which is located on the property, it's a nice perk as the hotel is located right on the water. A restaurant suggestion was also given. The complimentary breakfast was pretty good, had a nice selection, the only drawback is the amount of tables is not enough to accommodate all of it's guests. Check out was hassle free, again the front desk girls were very personable. Overall, if we visit Mackinac Island again we will return to St. Ignace since it's not as crowded at Mackinaw City.
Hotel was easy to find and we had no problems with Check-in, room allocation and cleanliness, car parking, room size and facilities, wifi. Breakfast had reasonable choice of hot and cold items, in fact all was good apart from the paper plates and cheap plastic cutlery. The only concern we had was the noise of the plumbing in adjacent room and the one above us. Overtime someone ran a tap and shower or flushed the toilet we could hear it. The room above us ran a bath at 5:30 a.m. each morning which woke us. In addition there was an intermittent hum from possibly an electric motor, not our a/c unit, that could be heard day and night. Not sure whether a/c would have been needed during our stay as the temperature was neither Hot or Cold. The reception staff had never had these queries mentioned before. Apart from this is was a very good place to stay. Convenient for the ferries to Mackinac Island
This place is very nice! It's almost like a small campus, which is great as long as the weather is decent. We stayed in the Huron building, on the bottom floor, which is one level lower in the front of the building, but opens up to a great view of the lake with sliding doors and easy shoreline and bonfire access. The sunrises were phenomenal! The indoor pool is very nice, as well as the hot tub. The breakfast was awesome, pretty much everything you could ask for, with plenty of seating. The staff was very friendly. This is definitely THE place to stay in St. Ignace.
We stayed here in May 2015 and found it very nice then. We decided to come back and again they are very accommodating. Our room is very nice with a view of the lake. The poor staff here have a hard time keeping the Canadian gueese off the property and they make such a mess! We would definitely recommend staying here if you are in the area.
To start picture a view of the water you open the sliding doors and hear the waves, yes your that close. A bonfire with marshmallows was there that first night. Free full breakfast the next day. A beautiful room, and outstanding service. You cant ask for more
We had a great experience at the Best Western Habour Pointe in St. Ignace. It was very family friendly, clean and had great customer service. The little playground and the campfire were fun, unexpected features.
Great hotel to stay at. The view from the lakefront rooms is absolutely spectacular. The only reason I'm not rating this hotel as Excellent is because the breakfast is located in another building. If you want the lakefront, you are furthest from the breakfast and it is a bit of a walk to get there.
Nice new hotel on the lake, lovely view. The layout was all exterior entrances with stairway access. Not a problem on this trip but in bad weather or on a longer trip with more baggage it would have been inconvenient. Having to leave the room and walk outside in order to use the pool or have breakfast was unpleasant.
This hotel has a building named after each of the great lakes and was full due to two seniors bus tours, however, we were in the rooms (more like cottages) right near the shore of Lake Superior...a great view and you could walk down to the water. There was also a fire pit with benches that you could sit on. Very clean and comfortable. Only thing that was required was a microwave in the room. Staff was very pleasant and will come get you in a golf cart to transport you to the breakfast room.
Everything good thing said in the description about this place is true. Nice clean rooms with friendly staff. The breakfast was excellent and we had a balcony view of the lake to add to it. We stayed in the 200 section of the Huron building for a night while we visited Mackinaw Island. Very close to everything! The reason for the four, instead of a five rating, was the beds. They are the smaller beds and were a little lumpy.... otherwise we lived it!
We recently stayed here overnight. We spent the day on Mackinac island then spent the night here. They were so accommodating. We stopped here first thing in the morning. It was our 40th Anniversary, so we asked for a room with a view. The room was amazing! In the Ontario building, right on the lake! Beautiful view, very quiet, very clean. They also offered us a package deal discount which saved us money on all the things we wanted to do on Mackinac Island ( the ferry ride, the carriage ride, and lunch at the Grand Hotel). We didn't swim in the pool, but it looked very nice. Breakfast in the morning was awesome. Scrambled eggs, with salsa and cheese and onion to top it off, sausage, waffles , cereal, fruit, muffins, toast, juice, etc etc. Would definitely stay here again. Maybe on our 45th??
Clean and quiet. Parking close to rooms. Only 2 or three floors of rooms. Nice balconies. Awesome area. Excellent employees. Front desk associates are extremely kind and helpful. Good wifi and hd tvs. Nice view. Campfire and s'mores offered at night. Right on lake shore.
The hotel is very clean, well maintained, and has excellent staff. They serve a lovely breakfast manned by smiling ladies. The morning view from the Ontario building (overlooking Mackinac Island) is amazing, as is the lake breeze. St. Ignace is a quiet community that offers access to both the upper and lower peninsula activities and attractions.
Nice variety of rooms w/ lake view. Very clean and comfortable. Nice, friendly staff. Great breakfast. Fair pricing. There are many places to stay in St. Ignace along the water, this place is quite large w/ several buildings on the property. Most rooms have either a full or partial view of Lake Huron. Out door built in pool and a fire pit. Family friendly, group friendly, couples friendly or for business...I/We are repeat customers.
The room was wonderful (the bed was very comfortable), the staff was helpful and pleasant, loved siting in the hot tub outside and watching the stars. The campfire and marshmallow roast was great fun and met some great people and heard about great places to visit in the Upper Peninsula. The morning breakfast was tasty and staff was cleaning and refreshing constantly.
We love the beautiful campus with the spacious, clean, and well-appointed rooms at the lakeshore. The slosh of waves on the shore is a fine lullaby. The breakfast is far above average motel fare and the eating area is spacious and handles many people. On previous visit we enjoyed the outdoor pool. The service is friendly and welcoming and helpful. Our daughter found and recommended it. We've been here twice and will be back.
We stayed at this hotel for one night before taking the ferry over to Mackinac Island. It is a nice facility, spread out among 3 or 4 buildings on the property. Complimentary breakfast was very nice with a variety of options. In addition, there were three employees re-filling food and cleaning up, so things were always readily available. Main problem areas we experienced was that the rooms were in a building down a hill from the main building so one had to walk up the hill in the rain (the day we were there) to go to breakfast. Also, we had a second floor room and they did not have an elevator so we had to carry heavy luggage up the stairs. Consider asking for a first floor room if you decide to make reservations here
This is a GREAT place to stay for the price. We have stayed here several times and LOVE the view! The value is well worth it. It is a great place to get away and the beauty of the lake is breath-taking. Highly recommend this property!
This was our 3rd stay at this hotel in the last two years. 3 different rooms, all clean, well appointed and comfortable. Check in was a breeze, and the desk clerk had good recommendations for places to eat. We stayed in the Ontario building, which is in the back and very quiet no road noise at all. My wife liked the floors with the attractive carpet pattern. She has long hair and the shower head made it easy to wash her hair. We will definitely stay here on our next trip to the UP.
Except for the higher place (worth it) we would have stayed every night during our time up north. Loved being right on the beach and the grounds was very well taken care of. The hot tub wasn't working and we weren't sure if it affected the pool too, but signs telling us this and apologizing were posted. All areas were very clean. Beds were comfy and nice to have a fridge in the room! Stayed in the 2 dbl beds "motel" down near the shore, separate from the main hotel and it was great!
Stayed here for a short weekend and the hotel met all of our expectations. The hotel is set up in a resort like fashion with multiple buildings around the property. It is about a quarter mile away from the ferry docks and this made for an easy walk. We stayed in the Superior building which had three floors. The rooms faced the pool and had angled porches to give a lake view. The room was clean, comfortable beds and pillows. The room had a small refrigerator which was nice for drinks and left over meals. The only issue with the rooms was they were a little noisy as you could hear the neighbors shower and movement in the halls. Breakfast was served each morning in the main lobby and had plenty of food including cereal, breads, eggs, waffles and fruit. This was the middle of September and it was nice that they still had the outdoor pool and hot tub open, along with the indoor pool and hot tub. There was a fire pit near the lake and the hotel provided fire wood. What really made this hotel special was the staff. All were friendly, helpful and provided great service. Miranda at the front desk was especially helpful during our stay.
This was a cozy, clean, friendly, reasonably priced hotel with easy access to the ferries to Mackinaw Island. We were right on the shores of Lake Huron and enjoyed free breakfast each morning and a cozy bonfire with roasting marshmallows each evening. We met many interesting fellow travelers around that fire and shared tips and ideas for sightseeing in this area as well as future trips. Indoor and outdoor pools were available. Well done, Best Western. We are never disappointed whenever stay with you. St. Ignace is a very welcoming community.
This hotel has 4 large buildings and motel style units. It is right on Lake Huron with many grassy areas and a beach which must be shared with the Canadian Geese and Gulls. Weather permitting they have bon fires at night with marshmellow roasts. A plentiful breakfast in the main building. The outdoor pool is heated. Very clean and spacious rooms.
Everything about this hotel was exceptional. I highly recommend staying here. Our room was super clean, had a great view of the lake, and the staff was well organized, knowledgable, and professional. This was the best hotel on our two week vacation to Quebec and Maine.
Beautiful lake views from all rooms. Amazing well kept grounds. Informative, helpful staff. I would recommend people staying at this property and going to Mackinac Island for the day instead of staying on the pricey island properties.
Stayed here for 2 nights in September, for my 30th birthday. It was a very nice hotel, the rooms were very clean. Beds were very comfortable. And we had a view of the lake and Mackinac Island which was amazing. I loved the room with two double beds, and king size bed in a little adjoining room. The free breakfast was also good, and staff was helpful and really nice. Would definitely stay here again.
From what I saw in Mackinac City and in St Ignace this was the best hotel in the area. It has a number of different bldgs. We ended up in the older building but the staff had it shining like new. Kudos to the housekeeping staff. It looks out on the lake. At night they have a smores party and bonefire. Breakfast had lots of choices. This hotel is used by tour buses so things can get crowded at times. Staff was friendly. I would stay here again if I was in the area. Close to the ferries for Mackinac Island.
Stayed here for 2 nights to visit Mackinac Island. Perfect spot overlooking Lake Huron. Very close to the ferries and lots of restaurants nearby. Service was great, everyone on the staff was super friendly and helpful. Hot breakfast was included with eggs, sausages, waffles and the usual fare. Just a quick note: we had a "2 room suite" which based on the description, I assumed to be 2 separate bedrooms with 2 full baths, but the room arrangement is a bit unusual. When you enter, it is a large room with 2 queen beds (and a full bath). To the side is a smaller room (with a sliding door) with another queen bed and full bath. There is no door to separate the main room from the smaller room (other than the sliding door to the smaller room). It's perfect for families but a bit awkward for couples.
This hotel offered quite a few amenities. Our room was direct lakefront, large and spacious. The breakfast was the usual hot breakfast fare. The front office staff was very helpful in getting us reservations for the ferry to Mackinac Island and the carriage tour on the island. They called the ferry service to arrange for free pick up at the hotel. The hotel is actually walking distance to the docks.
The motel was fine - stayed one night going over to Mackinac Island. Being in a heavy tourist area it was slightly overpriced, but it met our needs. It was very close to all 3 ferry locations and a number of fairly good restaurants.
We booked a water-view room and got a second-floor room in the Ontario building, with our balcony directly facing Lake Superior only yards away - beautiful! The property is new and nice, and nicely kept. Staff started a bonfire and provided marshmallows for roasting. (Note to management: you need longer roasting sticks to prevent scorched hands!) Front desk staff gave us a dinner recommendation that turned out to be excellent. Standard breakfast fare including some hot items. The only disappointing thing was the thin walls and floors. We could hear our upstairs neighbors walking around and opening and closing their sliding door. We could hear our next-door neighbors talking well into the evening, and then we could hear one of them snoring All.Night.Long. It's a shame it wasn't built for better privacy.
Because we booked close to our travel date we ended up in St Ignace instead of Mackinaw City. What a stroke of luck. We were able to walk to Star Ferry to go to Mackinac Island and also to dinners. Staff helpful and bonfire looked great from our lakeside room but we were way too tired after walking and biking the island. Breakfast plentiful although we did not care for the eggs or coffee. Because St Ignace is smaller the ferries weren't jammed up and lines shorter. We loved our location and when we go back it will be to this hotel.
Wonderful staff- great location- great food- beautiful view from our room Can't wait to stay here again- The staff even remembered that I got married at the property about a year ago, when I called. Awesome customer service
If you can ignore breakfast and can eat somewhere else, this is a great place to stay. Very interesting multi-building design, great outdoor and indoor pools, large rooms. If the breakfast is improved, this would be a 5 star rating/review.
Staff was helpful, room was clean. Location was convenient to the ferry. Good breakfast..couldn't want much more. Only downside may be that bus tours apparently stay at this hotel which can cause a jam of folks at breakfast and minor issues in the parking lot. Would stay again.
Very nicely appointed hotel on the water of Lake Huron. Short walk to downtown and ferry. We could see the fireworks from our small balcony. Pool and hot tub were clean and attractive although we did not use them. The breakfast room was spacious and had an open patio as well. Everything was handled smoothly and politely. The room was clean and had enough outlets for charging technology.
This is the best hotel you could possibly choose! The view of the lake is stunning, the rooms are clean and big, the beds are extremely comfy, breakfast is included and its YUMMY! And it is only 3 blocks from the ferry docks! It is our one and only GO TO!
Very nice place to stay (we've been here several times). It's a little pricey, but worth it. In general, the staff is excellent. The rooms are nice (though the faucet in the bathroom needs updating). My only complaint ... in spite of the hotel's "no smoking on the property" policy, I repeatedly ran into STAFF who were smoking by the laundry room. With our allergies, that is an issue. The management was good about the problem, but the staff who smoked there were not so nice about it.
We stayed here on on way to Mackinac Island. Our tour group had bbq pork and chicken buffet for dinner. All was very good. We went to the marshmallow roast and 8:00 pm and sat around the nice fire by the lake. The room had a good view of Lake Huron, nice size room. The breakfast buffet had scrambled eggs, sausage, toppings for the eggs, waffle irons, yogurt, fruits, etc. we sat in the covered deck area which had clear vinyl on the sides to protect us from the cool breeze. They even had a golf cart shuttle for those that needed assistance getting to the breakfast area. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Our stay was uneventful - which is good, this meant that everything was as it should be. The view was beautiful and the amenities were excellent. The area around St. Ignace has many attractions and there was no way to see everything available. It is incredible to me that my husband and I take a vacation each year in Michigan (since 1998) and we have not come to an end of the available amazing places Michigan has to offer.
Loved our experience there from the time of check in to check out. Clean room, friendly staff, good breakfast. And at night - a bonfire near the water with a view of Mackinac Island. It was a wonderful time. Enjoyed it so much, we booked for next year already!
Loved this hotel. From the rooms to the staff, it was exceptional. It was a busy weekend for them, but the staff was always available. The housekeeping staff went out of their way to accommodate you. The view was spectacular from our room. Enjoyed it so much, we booked already to come back next year.
Very clean room, ammenities are awesome, the staff was great. The comfort was great, the breakfast spread was great. Great view of the lake and Mackinac Island. The grounds were well kept , the lawn was mowed, the parking area and driveways were well kept up. The buildings exteriors were clean, the dining area was very clean and the staff kept the food stocked for the people staying there. I would recommend this place. The only challenging aspect was the price of the room. I thought it could be a little less expensive than what we paid.
There is no finer place to stay in Saint Ignace than Harbour Pointe. Due to the layout of the grounds and the excellent staff, you feel more as though you are at a resort, not a hotel. The down side of your stay will be when you have to leave this northern gem in the UP. For anyone interested in astronomy, or just being able to look at the stars, Harbor Pointe is a great choice! The lighting of the lots is not overbearing and the lamps have covers to point the light down, not allowing it to pollute the beautiful night sky. You can sit by the pool on a clear night and look up at the heavens!!
Stayed one night at a hefty price while in the Mack area. This place is huge with multiple buildings and amenities. Unfortunately we did not have time to use amenities as much as we would've wanted. Things that we found positive during our stay -- clean grounds and room, nice pool & hot tub area, fire pit near lake, shuttle to casino and discount tickets for ferry to island. Not so positive...you're on the northern end of a lot of the town so walking back to dinner or retail shops would've been a hike, the lake view was nice but our room hardly was lake view as we looked out over the grounds down to the lake. It was an expensive, in season one night stay. I'd consider going back but maybe off season and staying for a few nights.
This was a lovely resort, although the rooms are a bit dated. Lovely outdoor pool and huge hot tub overlook Lake Huron. Great views of the lake from our room. There are several different buildings at this resort. All have great views of Lake Huron. The breakfast was the usual; they made sure coffee was fresh.
After having issues at several other hotels in the area, we tried the Best Western a few years back and won't stay anywhere else. This year, we knew what to expect, and still we were wowed by the small details. Our room for Labor Day Weekend was beautiful- clean, wonderfully located, and was a perfect spot for viewing Sat night fireworks from our front door. The outdoor pool and hot tub made for a a relaxing afternoon...we didn't want to travel through the rest of the UP...so we decided to just hang back and enjoy the hotel. Despite being at capacity, it wasn't crowded feeling or noisy and still had the family, friendly feel. At night we enjoyed the indoor pool/hot tub and it was great as well. The next morning at breakfast, I was wowed again. The breakfast options were plentiful, there was ample seating, and despite being a packed hotel, there were several staff attending to the food and needs. Personally, I am a recent gluten free convert, and while many of their normal options are gluten free (eggs, potatoes, sausage, yogurt, fruit) they had signs displayed that they had special gluten free options. I asked one of the attendants about it, and she came out with special gluten free bars (expensive ones) and gladly offered me 2 of them saying "you gotta have one for later!" (They also had special cereal too). She was genuinely happy to serve her guests- she didn't seem overworked or snippy because they had a packed hotel and she had been clearly working for several hours. She was overly happy and energetic, and offered suggestions of fun things to do and see in the area....and it was refreshingly wonderful to see someone genuinely pleased to help people in their job. Yes, it was just a gluten free granola bar....among all the other full breakfast options (waffles, Danishes, muffins, cereal, etc as well), but to me it showed that this hotel goes above and beyond to please their guests...and their staff is happy to work there. The front desk staff works well as a concierge of the area- they can book discount ferry tickets, buffet lunches on the island, and other trips and tours in the area. Definitely not a service to be overlooked. As we were checking out, we heard the front desk staff helping obvious newbies to the area get the most out of their trip- I felt like she went above and beyond...again, on a super busy weekend. This couple in front of us had her book a full day of festivities going to the island, lunch, a carriage ride, and tours of the Fort, and she organized it all for them so they easily knew what to expect and plan for. I will say my only complaint of this hotel isn't a complaint against them...it's against all of the hotels in the area in Labor Day weekend. It's the prices. $300+ for a room per night is steep...but $300 is the going rate at any of the name brand chain motels. Someone in our group decided to "save some money" and opted to pay $200/night to stay at the Aurora Borealis...and she sent us pics of the room...the floors were dirty, it was old, smelled of smoke despite being a non-smoking room, and had no amenities or breakfast. Clearly, you get what you pay for....and we'll gladly return to this hotel! Thanks Best Western for making our last weekend of the summer one of the best yet!
A very nice and clean room. Front desk staff very friendly and helpful. The view of Mackinac Island from the Ontario building was great. You can purchase discounted tickets for Starr Line and Shepler's Ferry.
I was very disappointed in this hotel. When you read a description of a hotel you visualize what you are going to get. Usually close, but this hotel was not even close. The hotel/motel is old and not convent to the lobby for breakfast unless you want to drive to the "free" breakfast.
We stayed 2 nights and had a corner room in the Ontario building. The views were amazing. Two windows, both looking out on Lake Huron and Mackinac Island. The room was very large and clean. We need extra floor space for our special needs daughter and we got it. Breakfast was OK, but the walk up the hill was tough in the morning. The only issue, and it was not controllable by the hotel, we're the tiny gnats. Hotel left a note in our room not to open windows. At least they were aware and told us! Overall, great stay.
We are Hilton Honors members and were worried because St. Ignace did not have a Hilton property, so we used the AAA Guidebook and found the Harborpointe listing. We were delighted with our experience at this Best Western. The grounds and buildings were beautiful, the staff was friendly, and the location was perfect for visiting several places in the Upper Peninsula. This hotel was superior to many of the Hilton properties we have stayed in over the years. I'll be checking the Best Western website before our next trip!
Right on Lake Michigan and you can see Mackinac Island from most of the property. Has an indoor and outdoor pool and hot tubs. They were great. Massive fire pit with chairs and every night they start the fire around 8:30 pm and supply marsh mellows and large forks to have roasted marsh mellows. It was a great place to meet and talk with other guests. The one night we saw the northern lights which was fantastic. I have no complaints at this property. Staff was awesome as well. You even get some discount on tickets.
We had a very pleasant two day stay. Loved the balcony and the view. Great location and cute town. Found staff very helpful. The whole property is very nice. People seemed to really enjoy the fire pit. We watched from our balcony. Definitely will return.
Huge, inviting room overlooking Mackinac Island with a big balcony. Right on the water. Ontario building. Enjoyed a great fireworks display right out our bow window that faced the other way in our end unit. Large lawn, kids play area (we didn't have any with us), indoor and outdoor pools. Only a 45 second drive to the docks for ferry to Mackinac. Really a nice facility!
We stayed one night and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The room was very large and impeccably clean. Hotel size fridge, large screen TV and our room had a balcony that overlooked the pool and had a partially obstructed (trees) view of the lake. A simple breakfast bar was available with all of the staples expected. Everything was hot and fresh. There are two large rooms for seating and the entire area is clean. At night there was a fire pit near the water with wood provided along with everything needed to make a killer Smore. Plenty of seating around the pit. Centrally located and very near one of the boat docks, Shepler's I believe. The room was economically priced and quite likely under priced given we were there at the height of tourist season. Worth a visit if you are looking to pamper yourself a bit when in town.
We needed a stop over place because we have kids. Trip advisor #1 rated, oh really. I would agree 100%. The front desk staff was very nice and helpful. The lobby was very clean with a view of the indoor pool. There are 2 pools and 2 hot tubs. The pool area was very clean and stocked full with towels. The outdoor pool was lite up at night with led lights. The pool water color was fun and the kids had a blast. The grounds are well kept and the rooms are extremely clean. The buildings are not connected and the pools are a walk. It is a mini campus layout with lots of build choices. The beds we had were doubles, but I didn't want to pay for queens. My choice. We will return. Thank you best western.
We stayed there and the outdoor pool was amazing you had a view of the lake and it was absolutely amazing the pool was not super warm and the hot tub was good. Our room was close to the pool so it was easy to go back and forth. I would definitely stay again!!!!
Lovely, friendly staff. Clean, spacious room, good breakfast. Nice location, easy access to the ferries. Walking distance to ferry or the hotel can provide a shuttle. Bonfire at dark on hotel grounds, s'more fixin's provided! All in all a great stay!
Standard breakfast but you have to walk to office building since this has several motel buildings. Office will give you a golf cart ride to breakfast if you can't walk to office building. Good coffee. Breakfast items should be spread apart more so there isn't so much congestion in one area. No microwave in room but a very small refrigerator. AC kept turning off by itself after a few hours so no air circulation in room in the middle of the night. Room had tiny bottles of shampoo and conditioner which they added new bottles second day. Didn't give us any new bars of soap the entire 4 days we were there, however. Bonfire each night by the lake. Didn't see a swimming beach but didn't actually go down to water. Too many geese and sea gulls for that. Not too many restaurant or shopping choices close by. Ferry to Mackinac Island a few blocks away. Not sure any of the buildings have elevators so choose ground floor if you can't take the stairs. Michigan building looked really old with only one floor. Superior building was the farthest from water but closest to office/breakfast. We had a wonderful view of Lake Huron from the Huron building. I would stay here again. Book early for summer stays.
It appears that this place has been recently renovated and is very attractive especially with the lake views and frontage. The breakfast is one of the best buffet breakfasts at a motel that we've had recently. The room was clean & comfortable, except the HVAC unit was a little noisy when we first set it in our room. We had a late arrival and just needed a good night sleep to finish our trip the next day. Well, none of us got that good night sleep at the a/c compressor got louder and louder as the night went on. At about 2 AM I got up to set it on fan only, but, because I had trouble reading the settings at that hour, I accidentally set it on heat. Now we've smelled electric coil heaters before the 1st time they are used for a season, but this one smelled like it was going to start a fire! I got back up and found the fan only setting, but the room already smelled bad. To pack up & move to another room at that hour (assuming there was another room available) would have taken too much time and been even more disruptive to our sleep. Either the smell went away, or we got used to it and probably got 3-4 hours of sleep before we got up. I told the desk clerk about it as we were checking out. All I got was "Oh, I am so sorry. Are you going to leave this charge on the same credit card?" She did make a note of it, so I assume someone will check it out.
We arranged our stay over the phone and were told that the building we would be in had no elevator. However, the parking lot for our building, was immediately outside the door of our second floor room and with the ramped sidewalk we had no problems with entry. They have several buildings on this property. The walk to the main desk area, and that is building with the indoor pool and breakfast buffet is uphill. You could drive your car but parking is at a premium in that area. The view of lake Huron from our room, every room in this hotel has a view of the lake, was wonderful and the balcony had 2 chairs. Clean, beds very nice, breakfast was standard fare as in most hotels. No noise at all, large grassy area at lakeside for families with children and a very nice outdoor pool. We asked for a restaurant suggestion and did eat at a local restaurant, The Galley. Food and service were excellent. 3 of us had the excellent local whitefish with fries and one had a local dish, a pastie/pasty, just okay but very large portion. Highly recommend both these places. The hotel was very economical with our AAA discount, $106.00 per night,$118.00 with taxes.
We were just staying one night because we decided to stay on the Island longer. What a mistake. This property and the staff rocked! Everything was great except the free breakfast (I am gluten-free vegetarian, but my traveling companions ate well.) The rooms were large, had acces to the beach, a great pool, a place for kids to run and play, good location, no paper thin walls, free parking, balcony to sit and watch the sunrise. The staff was the best! We could get tickets to all attractions on the Island (saving money and time). They were helpful and knowledgeable and so pleasant to deal with. I travel a lot but my first time to the UP area. Stay here, save your money, take a boat to the island.
If you are planning a trip to Mackinac island, it is worth giving over the bridge to St Ignace to stay. We found the village less busy than Mackinaw City and the Best Western was a great place to stay. Booking on line, we were able to get a good price and the motel was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very good but the breakfast room was very busy because a couple of bus tours were staying there also. Another positive is that the boats to the Island were near by.
Stayed two nights here while visiting in Mackinac Island. Much less expensive than staying on the island. They have several multi story buildings but our room was in the motel style building, ground level. The room was a little stuffy and musty smelling when we arrived but disappeared by the second day. Updated bathtub/showers, refrigerator, comfortable beds. Complimentary breakfasts had hot choices and cold. Outdoor pool and jacuzzi as well as an indoor pool and jacuzzi. A laundry is available for guests to use. A bonus were the fireworks that take place each Saturday night during the summer from the nearby harbor after sundown. One downside is that we were awakened at 3:30 in the morning by rowdy guests 2 doors down that were having a domestic dispute. We found out they had been evicted afterward. I highly recommend this hotel in this small town.
I would stay again at this hotel, it was very enjoyableThe veiw from the room was great and we enjoyed setting on the balcony and watching the birds and kids playing at the playground.I wold recommend his hotel to anyone
We stayed here last year and found the hotel very clean and breakfast was good . We came back again this year and same quality. Highly recommend this hotel. It is close to ferry docks, shopping and restaurants.
Outstanding motel resort. Most all the rooms have lake view. 2 pools and hot tubs were great! Breakfast had everything you need. Ample secure parking and was walking distance to Island ferry service and restaurants.
We were in the UP of Michigan for a destination wedding. We chose this hotel due to it's close proximity and the positive reviews on Tripadviser. We were not let down! We had two rooms in two different buildings for 6 nights. Like they say, every room has a lake view. Both rooms were spacious and clean. The grounds were immaculate and very open to walking around! The nightly bonfires (real not gas), complete with marshmallows to roast, was a plus and a great way to meet folks from other areas over a glass of wine! (The staff brought more wood for us late nighters!) The hotel is in close proximity to the ferries to Mackinac Island and could be walked if desired. The staff was friendly and very accommodating! Unfortunately, I did not get any names but they all deserve kudos! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone!
Stayed here for one night prior to heading to the island. Rooms were clean and pleasantly decorated. Staff was very nice. They have 2 pools, the outdoor one was especially nice. Conveniently located near all ferry docks. Breakfast room was nice and the food was more than adequate. Nice views from lake view rooms as well!
Second time staying here and was not disappointed. The staff was always helpful, polite, and very professional. Rooms are clean with plenty of space. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone and I will gladly stay there again.
The place was more than accommodating; however if you book more than one room, make sure that they are in the same building since the facility is large and sprawling. Staff very courteous and the place is close to everything. The place is geared to tourism and provides a very pleasant bookings.
We had a third floor room in the Ontario building. It appears all rooms have a lake view, which was great. We could see Mackinac Island easily. The room was very spacious and decorated very well. We used the pool and hot tub spa every day. Clean and beautiful setting. Breakfast was included - ok, nothing special, the usual for a Best Western. We would stay again.
....and not a bad experience. Not One. For the amount of people staying there every night its amazing that the level of hospitality and cleanliness is so high. The staff is friendly, the breakfast is tasty, the pool and common areas are spotless, the grounds are well manicured and the rooms are very clean and inviting. I attribute this to the fact that the owners stay on sight and truly care that their guests have an enjoyable time. Do not hesitate to book a room here.
Enjoyed our stay here. Clean and very friendly staff. Some small complaints were breakfast was very crowded and not worth the time. People above us were very loud, not good insulation for sound at the hotel. We paid for a lakefront in which we thought we were facing the lake and it was pool view instead.
A wonderful resort hotel on the shore of Lake Huron with great views of the lake and Mackinac Island. A great outdoor pool, wonderful staff, and a beautiful location. Excellent family vacation. This was our fourth stay at this hotel and we are likely to be back next year.
This was the perfect spot to rest up before and after a trip to Mackinaw Island. You can walk the back road to the Shepler's ferry parking lot. It is such a nice piece of property out of the busier town area. We enjoyed the view and the outdoor pool; they have an indoor one as well. It was so easy to book ahead, and very reasonable for a family on vacation. We also enjoyed a wonderful breakfast in their covered deck area. The room was very nice, but the beds a bit soft.Everything was nice and clean and the staff we met very kind and courteous. Would stay there next time for sure.
Awesome hot breakfast with good variety. Staff kept replenishing food and stocking items often. Large clean rooms. Only had a dorm size fridge which was a downfall. Two pools and two hot tubs. Staff all friendly and helpful. Would stay again. Short walk to beach.
What a pleasant stay with our granddaughter. Staff so friendly at check in. Room was so clean and beautiful. 6 year old granddaughter said she felt like a princess when she walked in. Indoor and Outdoor pools were clean with plenty of room to sit and enjoy the sun. Huge Hottub. Breakfast was amazing, hot clean dining area and staff so friendly. We would return in a heartbeat.
This is a very nice, quiet hotel right on the lakefront. They have a great outdoor pool, beds and room were excellent. Would recommend to anyone travel here in the future. They have a nice breakfast area as well.
My review is somewhat mixed because we stayed here twice in the same vacation and had different experiences. My husband and I have stayed here before and liked it very much so when we decided to take a trip to the Upper Peninsula with our teen-aged son, we decided to stay here again. This property has 5 buildings, one being the main office with breakfast area and indoor pool area. The other 4 buildings are where the rooms are and are named for Great Lakes--Michigan, Superior, Huron, and Ontario. We had previously stayed in "Ontario" and loved our view of Lake Huron and Mackinac Island from our balcony. We learned on this trip that there are differences between the buildings. At the beginning of our trip we had a room in "Ontario". It turned out to be a large room on the end of the building, bigger than we'd had in the past, with a lovely view. "Ontario" is furthest away from the continental breakfast in the morning up at the main building, but we didn't mind that. The weather was lovely and walking is good for us. The room was spacious, clean and nicely furnished. It did cost more than the room we had later, and perhaps this was due to its size I realized later. After being there a few days we checked out. At check out we happened to mention that we'd be back in a few days and the desk clerk asked if we liked our room and we said yes. So he said he'd arrange for us to have that room again when we came back. So when we came back a few days later we were expecting we'd probably get the same room back. However, that was not the case. This time we were in "Superior". The "Superior" building has very little lake view. However, it does overlook a very nice outdoor pool and hot tub. The "Superior" rooms are entered from the outdoors, which is different than "Ontario". We got there after dark and the bugs were in full force so we had to be careful going into our room and minimize lights so as not to get bugs into our room. However, the outside surface of the room door was painted with shiny red paint which did seem to inhibit insects from congregating on the door, so that helped. The room was not as big as our previous room but it was still clean and nice and I did like the fact that the sink was outside the bathroom so it made it easier for multiple people to get ready in the morning. There were fewer outlets though, which made it trickier for plugging in all our phones, computer, etc. The parking lot for the "Superior" building was almost full and the parking lot itself was tight space-wise for parking our full-size pickup truck. Another guest with a full size truck arrived just after us and had trouble parking also. In the morning, the "Superior" building seemed a lot noisier with thinner walls/floors compared to "Ontario". I don't really know anything about the other two buildings, "Michigan" and "Huron" since I've never stayed in them. It did look like the rooms for the "Michigan" building are entered from the outside, like "Superior". I would say that the "Ontario" building is best for when you want a more distant, quieter location with a lake view and don't mind a longer walk. "Superior" seems to be best for families who plan to spend time at the outdoor pool since it directly overlooks it. Plus the flooring outside the rooms at "Superior" is very much geared for swimmers since it is made of rough, rubbery material that would tolerate water dripping on it from water-logged swimmers. We really liked the continental breakfast in the morning, which is very popular. This hotel seemed quite popular in general with a variety of people ranging from young couples, families with young children, families with teens, and seniors. I would stay here again but personally I would ask for the "Ontario" building since it is quieter, has a lake view, and rooms are entered from inside the building.
We stayed here Friday night 8/12. The room was large and spotless; the windows could be opened to let in the breeze. Our room did not face the water, but the parking lot was quiet. In fact, we both slept well and did not hear a thing. The bed was very comfortable. Check in was easy and efficient. Parking spots are big enough to accommodate vehicles with bike racks without sticking out into traffic.
Planned a week long motorcycle trip with brothers.. Stayed here Tuesday night - some stayed on Island. Great room - courteous staff - great piece - outstanding view of the harbour. Will definitely be back again.
Stayed one night with my wife and 13 year old daughter on 8/12. We stayed here capping a few days in Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island running with my daughter and her cross country team. Certainly, part of the reason this property may seem a little bit of downgrade was our travels to Mackinaw...nothing against St Ignace, but its just not as nice of an area as Mackinac Island (few in Michigan are). That being said, as first blush this property seemed very nice, although nearly $75 more a night than what we had paid to stay in Mackinaw City! However, except for the view of the straits right outside our door, the rooms are pretty plain. They are clean and the beds are comfortable, but I guess for nearly $300 a night, you expect things to be a little higher end. Worse, the property is very spread out...there are 4 different buildings that have guests! Meaning, every time you want to use the pool, you need to walk 500 yards to the front building, generally to find it crammed with people. We had a similar experience for the breakfast buffet...it was good, but you had to walk (or drive!) to get there from our room and then is was overrun with other guests! It appears that this entire complex was once apartments (or something) and has been incorporated into one vacation rental. Each building seems to be fine in and of itself, but it just had too many guests for the overall property. Assuming the front building was maybe the clubhouse (originally) that would explain why it could not handle the capacity of having 4 separate buildings arriving for breakfast at once. We never did get into the hot tub or poos (two of them) as they were constantly crammed with people. For the price and the clean but ho hum rooms, I would just as soon stay somewhere else with a little more ability to book the appropriate number of guests for its facility.
I had stayed here previously and the room was clean, nothing fancy with no view of the water. There was a lot of walking between buildings. The included breakfast was good, nice dining area and a good pool for the kids. Price for the room was almost $200 which for the room and community with many hotels/motels was high.
Highly recommend staying here! The rooms were clean and up to date. Continental breakfast was excellent! A lot of choices and they kept everything stocked, even during busy time. Two pools, one indoor and one outdoor. Bon fire in the evening with marshmallows for roasting, a playground and beautiful view of the lake from our room!
My wife has wanted to try this hotel for quite a while. We have stayed in both Mackinaw City and St Ignace. This trip we choose the BW. It is the best we have stayed at by far in the area. Check in was the fasted I have ever encountered in any of my traveling. I was in and out in less then 2 minutes. The room appeared to be pretty clean. Lots of activity outside, pool was hopping. Pool area was very clean. The grounds overall were clean with the exception of goose poop everywhere near the water and campfire pit. Hard to keep up with the stupid geese droppings but could have been better still. Breakfast was way above average for a typical hotel included free breakfast. We only stayed one night but would gladly go back. Only drawback is if you wanted to walk to downtown, not the best place to do that from.
Clean rooms, beautiful view of the lake on the balcony. Clean restroom. Clean bedsheets. No dust and vacuumed carpet. Bathtub was spotless as well as sinks and toilet. The Hotel had 2 pools, one outside that was lit up toward the evening time and indoor pool that was very clean and seemed to be well ventilated to avoid heavy chlorine fumes. Staff was courteous and accommodating. Not one complaint.
My children and I stayed here during the first night of our road trip around the UP. This hotel is beautiful! The room was spacious, extremely clean, and comfortable. We used the outdoor pool and hot tub. The hot tub was one of the nicest hotel hot tubs we had been in. Our room had a balcony overlooking the outdoor pool. The breakfast was extremely good. The biscuits and gravy were the best that we have had in a hotel. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Upon check in I had an issue with my credit card. I was a bit upset, worried about being stranded with my kids. Both the young man (Zach?) and Ron the manager were kind and helpful, and helped me get everything worked out.
I think it might be safe to say we were lucky to get a room booking online from the car enroute to visit the Fort and next day take ferry to Mackinaw Island, etc, because the place was hopping with guests, pool very busy, and the next morning sign posted"no Vacancy"! It was a great stay with extra surprise bonuses, including he views and the large lit outdoor pool. It helps that it was a perfect summer night, and vacation, so everyone we met seemed in a holiday mood. The handsome young desk clerk was at first a bit condescending suggesting that I shouldn't be looking for fried fish, intimidating that this was somehow ignorant/unhealthy on my part, but his co-worker bailed him out by sharing his favorite local fish n chips choice, and same snobbish clerk later redeemed himself by being gracious about me locking us out of our room. Smile. The breakfast room was spacious and well stocked and boasted outdoor seating as well as indoor. The grounds are pretty and well kept by a seemingly large busy staff.
Upon arrival we were pleasantly greeted by the staff. When I advised the young men behind the counter that I was pulling a trailer and needed a good place to park it, they were extremely helpful in picking out the best spot closes to our room. The property was very clean and exceeded my expectations for a chain hotel in this price range. As a Platinum Marriott member I stay in a lot of hotels and would not hesitate to stay at this Best Western when visiting the UP.
I can repeat everything others have said, but I will address things I didn't see from other reviewers. They have a marshmallow roast/ bon fire at 9:00. Bring your own chocolate and graham crackers if you want to make s'mores. They offer discounted tickets to the ferry. It is within walking distance. You can really hear people walking above you and their running water. Request the top floor if that bothers you. Great breakfast included. My kids spent more time in the indoor pool, had it to themselves as everyone else was in the outdoor one. Stay here if coming for vacation.
There are many reasons for this hotel's consistent positive reviews- great location on the water, spotless, comfortable rooms, great pool areas, nice breakfast area with indoor/semi-outdoor seating with a decent selection of breakfast items, and most importantly, staff who are friendly, efficient, and care about guest satisfaction. Don't forget to stop down by the lake at dusk for a bonfire! They even provide the marshmallows! On Saturday nights in the summer, there are fireworks and a great view from the hotel. The only thing in my opinion that would make it perfect is some seating and new sod by the lake shore. It's hard to find a place to sit right by the lake because it's weedy and full of goose droppings.
The hotel rooms were very clean and comfortable. The location was awesome. We loved the kids play area. The lakeview was awesome as well. We spent a lot of time on lake shore with our kid. They had campfire in evening - was good. Lot of ducks moving around. My kid enjoyed . We enjoyed the nature and peace.. Definitely a perfect place for holiday,
This hotel is awesome! My family and I stayed in a double queen room with a view of the straights as well as Mackinac Island. It was a LARGE room, very spacious. We loved the outdoor balcony. Also the room was very light because there were lots of windows. Hotel is only a few short minutes away from the ferries to the island. The grounds are large and nice to walk around on as well. I would absolutely recommend this property to anyone staying in the area!
Clean and good location on the water. Breakfast serviceable. Located right after the Mackinaw bridge so good location to go to Mackinaw Island or Soo Locks. Make sure to make reservations as the area fill up fast during the summer season. They have an area that children could play outside and an evening marshmallow roast.
We stayed at the Best Western Harbor Pointe from July 31, 2016 thru August 3, 2016. Great property with a great view. The property is very well managed and a lot of other hotels could learn alot from the management team of the Best Western Harbor Point.
The rooms were clean, comfortable, and visually appealing. The views of the lake and the place itself were beautiful. The employees were all very knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. The complimentary breakfast was amazing! I would go there again.
We were impressed with the staff and how well they handled a full house. Quick check in and then a great room after a long ride in rainy conditions. This is a very large hotel but well organized and good staff made us feel like we were the only guests. Well done and we will be back again . We will stay longer as this area has so much to offer. I highly recommend this hotel as it is a great location and has really good and welcoming staff.
The hotel staff was very friendly and had good insights on area attractions and information on the UP. The property is very well maintained and clean. Our room had a great view of the lake and the sunrises were spectacular. We would go back again.
We usually stay at the Holiday Inn but decided to try this hotel and we were pleasantly surprised as it was very well run very clean professional and friendly helpful staff. I am very picky about cleanliness and our room and the entire property were kept very tidy. The breakfast was a very busy place but staff was right on top of replacing items that ran low and their was plenty of seating. The housekeeping services we ran into our second day there asked us several times if we wanted our room serviced and made sure that we had we had what we needed and we're very polite. We love the fact that they have a campfire at dark?? Our room was quiet the shower was wonderful and I really appreciate the choice of pillows too.
Our room overlooked the lake! They had a lot of land for kids to play and at night they set up the fire pit and provided marshmallows and sticks! The room was simple but very clean and comfortable! It was a delightful experience and great nights sleep!
The staff was amazing from the moment we arrived. Everyone went out of their way to make you feel comfortable. They set up a pack and play with blanket and toddler pillow in our room at no charge. The cleaning staff tucked in my son's teddy the first night and put a light saber we left on the floor in the teddy's hand the next. My son loved coming back to the room to see how teddy would be set up. The shore is rocky but clean and nice. The play scape was really nice and both pools were very clean. The outdoor pool has a pool house with bathrooms and drinking fountain. The breakfast was really good. They had waffle machines, eggs, sausage, biscuits n gravy, and potatoes plus cereal, muffins, yogurt, juices and coffee. Very crowded and hectic at times but they had a ton of staff bussing tables and refilling all the food / drinks. The fireworks were great and we watched them from the balcony. I never went down to the fire pit but my family said they provided smores supplies at no charge. My only complaint was the distance between the pool and breakfast and our rooms in the farthest building. It was hard to get the kids to make the long trek between buildings.
We have always stayed in Mackinaw City previously when coming to this area; however, we decided to stay here since we were going to travel the UP. We made a great decision. There is less crowd in St. Ignace than in MC, and you have a closer view of Mackinaw Island. The ferry ride to the island is also shorter. This hotel is composed of several buildings so you have to walk to the breakfast building. Wonderful breakfast. We had a lakeside room with a balcony and thoroughly enjoyed the view of Lake Huron and Mackinaw Island. It was just a nice place to relax and enjoy the setting. The only drawback was the issue they were having with bugs in early June. It was just that time of year for them. You definitely will not be disappointed when staying at this wonderful hotel. I would like to have given a 4.5 rating for it. Give this location a try.
Waterfront views of Mackinaw Island, brand new décor & furniture, clean & comfy environment. Spectacular sunrise view. Pool area was convenient & the whole property was very clean. Staff was very courteous also.
Very nice clean hotel, beds were very comfortable. Staff are extremely helpful. Gave great recommendation for dinner. Nice view from our Lakeview room. Pools are great and breakfast had a lot of options. Will definitely be back.
We had an AWESOME stay here! Our group included our family of four and my parents and this hotel couldn't have been better for us. We stayed in the two bedroom two bath suite which had more than enough room for all six of us. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast and the breakfast area were great. From our room we had a beautiful view of Lake Huron, which was easily accessed through an adorable balcony and there was even an outdoor fire pit with chairs arranged in a circle around it that you could build a fire at night. In that same area was also a kid's play area. Our only regret was that we weren't staying longer.
A dream came true for me this year when I visited Mackinac Island and staying here helped make it a perfect trip. The hotel is ideally situated and our balcony overlooked the lake, across to the island. The room itself was enormous, with two queen size beds and a nice sitting area. It was a corner room so it had large windows on two sides, giving us lots of light. The included buffet breakfast offered lots of choice, hot and cold. I loved the waffle makers, nice to be able to make your own, fresh and hot! The reception staff were very helpful, we bought tickets there for the ferry across to the island, also booked for the buffet luncheon and The Grand Hotel on the island. The hotel is a short distance from the ferries. We were there a few days before the tourist season really gets started (were there May 24 - 27), we were told that if we had been there a week later it would have been much busier. The hotel does have evening bonfires, but they had not started those when we were there. I would definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to returning.
Starting our vacation with this location was perfect. The outdoor pool was incredible. The bonfire by the beach at sunset was amazing. Breakfast was full of choices from hot or cold dishes. Staff at front desk were helpful in letting us know the times of these event and the location of Molly Moo's ice cream shop! Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Our time spent here was great! While we were staying here they were doing some construction, but that was limited to during the day. The hotel staff was great, NO complaints about this hotel at all. I forgot 2 shirts in the closet and they UPS'd it to me right away. I would definitely stay here again.
The front desk people, Ron and Tim are very nice and friendly. We stayed there on July 27th. Got the 2 Queen Deluxe room located at the Ontario building. The room was clean. It has a nice view of the lake. We usually stay at Mackinaw City whenever we want to go to the island. This was our first time to stay in St. Ignace and will not be the last. It's not as crowded as Mackinaw City. Shorter boat ride to the island and very relaxing place to stay at. Next time you visit St. Ignace, stay at the Best Western, you'll see why Trip Advisor rank them as #1 hotel in St. Ignace.
I had a flat tire and the maintenance man kindly offered his help to get me going again. The view of the lake was fantastic, and they even had a bon-fire at night. The breakfast was good (and complementary). Free wi-fi. Easy check-in and check-out. They had the best price (and the only vacancy), so that worked out.
This hotel is "Pure Michigan" at its best. Beautiful property on the lake, wonderful views of Mackinac Island. Plenty to keep every age happy, indoor & outdoor pools, fitness center and healthy tasty breakfast. Close to the ferry docks and downtown, all within walking distance. Oh yes, located near a premier airport.
Very large hotel consisting of a series of 5 separate buildings, many activities and amenities. Large clean rooms, friendly staff, well cared for lawn. Good buffet breakfast, well stocked, outside porch tables and indoor tables.
Very nice property. We had a lake view room with a balcony - so peaceful and serene - and such a treat to be able to lie in bed and enjoy a fabulous sunrise! Decent breakfast buffet with hot options like waffles, sausage, and fake eggs included in the room rate. Also, it opened at 6:00 AM which was great for us because we wanted to catch the early ferry to Mackinac Island and get our laps around the Island on our bikes in before it got too crowded. Good wifi and a very nice, comfortable, and firm mattress. Wish we had more than two nights here so we could enjoy the property more. Fridge and coffee maker in room, but no microwave. Nice and quiet in our room despite the hotel being at full occupancy.
We stay at this chain a lot. So far this was the best. Staff friendly. Partial lake view was great overlooking outdoor pool/spa area and Lake Huron. Right on Lake. They have a fire pit with s'mores from 9-11. Fun and relaxing. Breakfast ok waffles, eggs, biscuits and. Gravy. Etc. room had nice balcony to hang out on. Small fridge. Comfortable beds and quiet a/c. St Ignace quieter than mackinac city. They can also get you discount on ferries and buffet lunch at grand hotels. Would stay here again
We stayed at the Best Western during our family vacation to Mackinac Island and the U.P. Hotel staff is warm, courteous, and friendly. Our room was exceptionally clean. Hotel offers two pools, hot tub, a good free breakfast, discounted tickets to Mackinac Island attractions, and lake views. We will definitely stay here again when we visit the area.
Location was excellent, staff were excellent, room and amenities were excellent; would definitely stay at this location again, if visiting the area. Bed was very comfortable, bathroom was large, room was very quiet; great stay!
Check in was smooth and the staff is very efficient and friendly. Our room was clean, comfortable and we had a fantastic view of Lake Huron and Mackinac Island from our room. The free breakfast served in the morning was what you would get at any comparable hotel/motel but is just fine. The fitness center is well kept, as are the indoor and outdoor swimming pools. There is access to the lake and playground equipment for the kids and a fire pit for evenings around the fire sipping your favorite beverage. Great place for families or couples.
When we previously stayed in Saint Ignace, we stayed at the Holiday Inn up the road. We like Saint Ignace because it is quieter than Mackinaw City. While that hotel was nice enough and slightly cheaper, this was was much nicer. My room was in the Lake Superior Building, which is a concept I like because travelers are spread out among the different buildings. The room was spacious, with a small balcony overlooking the property. I liked that the sink was outside from the toilet and shower. I liked how my hotel room exited outside instead of inside a hallway. The entire time I was there, I heard one loud group once. We stayed on a Sunday, Monday Tuesday and they were booked, so reserve early. The staff was friendly and helpful. We loved the hot free breakfast and the indoor AND outdoor pool options. The only reasons I didn't rate a 5 are minor ones: 1. The outdoor pool's stone decking was sensitive on the bottoms of our feet 2. The goose poop down by the fire pit was annoying.
Friendly staff, immaculate rooms, breckfast with so many choices, wonderful views, you cannot ask for any better. Huge landscape grounds, many places to roam, while close to room, lake front rooms have many shore birds.
Our stay here didn't turn out to be what we expected. We expected to be in the big square looking hotel on the web site photo, but we were put in a strip of motel type rooms by the lake. The room was dark with very small bathroom, immaculately clean. Beautiful outside pool. Quite a climb up to reception & breakfast area. Reception smelled of disinfectant which wasn't pleasant. Basic breakfast. Staff were disinterested in their guests, all very young. When I asked the manager about different room to hotel photo, he said that we should have booked direct & the following night we could have room with balcony at extra cost. $4 toll each way on bridge & shortage of restaurants in St Ignace. BC Pizzas was brilliant.
We have been to Mackinac a couple of times. The first time we stayed on the island, but this time we thought we'd try staying in St Ignace at this Best Western and are very happy we did. It's a short walk from the main ferry stop in St Ignace and a lovely 30 min ferry ride to the island. It has great rooms, ours happened to be right on the lake. They provided s'mores at the fire pit, had a great pool and very good complimentary breakfast. The owners were so welcoming and helpful. It definitely deserves its number on rating on trip advisor!
Enjoyed our stay, gorgeous views, great service, nice hotel with excellent pool (outdoor and indoor). Relaxing trip and great location. Only thing negative is time for some updating in the rooms...still clean and maintained well.
Stayed here during the St. Ignace Car Show. Property is spacious and really nice. Can see Mackinaw Island from here. Pool and breakfast room were squeaky clean. Really nice breakfast. Fire pit, marshmallow roast, playground, all really nice. Rooms are a bit old, but comfortable. They need some serious updating, but overall would stay again.
We stayed here two nights on our way to Mackinac Island. The staff was wonderful, especially at the front desk. It was very hot outside, so the outdoor pool was fantastic. It was a decent breakfast bar, too. We'd like to go back and take our families, especially in the middle of the summer so we could all use the wonderful pool and enjoy the views of Lake Huron!
If you want a great place to stay in St. Ignace, this is the place. The rooms are nice, indoor/outdoor pools are great. The complimentary breakfast is a great start to your day! They cover all of the bases. Staff is very friendly. Our housekeeper was very accommodating as we had a change of plans due to severe thunderstorms. If you are going to Mackinac Island, the boat lines will pick you up right at your building. All in all, the stay was great and we'd stay here again in a heartbeat. The only Improvement I could think of is to have microwaves available in some rooms or at least in one area of each building. (? Vending area? ) THINGS TO NOTE: Do realize this hotel has 4 buildings and a Main building (contains office, breakfast area and indoor pool). None of the 4 buildings connect to the main area/indoor pool. Plan accordingly for winter months. During summer visits, Choose a room ON the water. You will not be disappointed.
If you can not do stairs, then request a room on ground floor or the main lodge. Did not visit the poosl but it looked like a lot of people were using the outdoor facility. Rooms were clean and liked that the vanity and sink were separate from the shower and toilet so that two people could get ready. East view was great from our third floor room balcony in the evening. Pretty sunny and warm in the morning. Breakfast is a short walk up a hill if you are not in the main lodge. The breakfast room was a bit warm but the outside seating had a breeze. Food was filling to start your day. We stayed here one night before he ferried to Mackinac Island.
View from room was great. Room was clean and well maintained. Breakfast was adequate. Super convenient to ferry! Overall we had a great stay at this hotel. Would recommend to anyone visiting this area.
The front desk is amazing and they go way out of their way to make your vacation stress free. I can't say enough on how they keep the grounds clean also. There was a guest that overstuffed their trash and through some on the grounds. (I could not believe someone would do this). They had this cleaned up before I could even call them.
The Best Western Harbour Pointe Lakefront in Saint Ignace is a wonderful property as many reviews point out & we agree with other reviewers regarding the cleanliness of the property. We give it four stars because the hotel is located in 4 separate buildings and below we detail the buildings' locations & info to know in picking a building. Each of the four buildings has differing views of either the hotel property or Lake Huron. Also, most important to those with mobility issues is the proximity of the 4 buildings varies to the main building where breakfast is located, which means that guests must go outside to get to the area breakfast is served or to get to the indoor pool area. We stayed in the Ontario Building, which had three floors and was the closest to Lake Huron, and our room's small private balcony faced east with a spot-on view of the lake and Mackinac Island. It was private and was an absolutely wonderful view. We recommend any of the rooms with the balconies facing the lake in this building. Note, though, the rooms cost more with lake views than other rooms in other buildings on the property. This building is also the farthest away from the outdoor and indoor pools as well as the breakfast dining area. It was a four/five minute walk, up a slight incline near the parking lot, which may be an issue for older patrons or physically impaired guests. The Huron Building has balconies that also face east so rooms can see the lake straight on, but the building itself is set back from the lake with the bonfire grassy area in front of it, and the parking lot for the Huron is also the pass-thru lot to get to the Ontario building. It is probably a 3 minute walk to the breakfast area. The Michigan Building is a one story building in which the guest room front doors face north, and guests can see Lake Huron by looking to their right upon stepping out of the hotel room. The bonfire pit for roasting marshmallows in the evening is close to the Michigan Building. The Superior Building is closest to the outdoor pool and initially we were given a room in this building. The entrance doors for this building are Exterior Entry, which we do not prefer. Most of the balconies in the Superior also face north, with views of the outdoor pool, but not with a straight-on view of Lake Huron as the Huron building semi-blocks the lake views. The room we initially had appeared to be much older than the room we ended up in at the Ontario. The hotel's location is about a 10 minute walk to Shepler's Ferry dock, and 12 minutes to Star Line Jet Ferry. Arnold's Ferry is probably an 18-20 minute walk. We liked being able to leave our vehicle at the Best Western and then walking to Shepler's dock area. The main breakfast/dining area had about 12-14 tables with 4 seats each, and then there was a tented exterior patio area that had additional seating. We got breakfast at 6:30 am one day and there was only a handful of guests, but on the second day had breakfast about 8:30 and it was full. Final note, we thought the staff at the Best Western were very accommodating and friendly. We want to send a shout-out to Shannon at the check-in area who helped us with our room booking and getting us a lake view room. She was extremely kind. As a final note, the laundry is located in it's own little separate building area near the parking lot area of the Huron Building across from the outdoor pool. Overall, a very good property to stay at for couples or families.
We loved staying here. We opened the door to our room and there was a fabulous view of Lake Huron. The room was clean and large and the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast provided a range of choices of the usual foods, but there is a lovely enclosed patio to eat on. We also enjoyed walking the manicured grounds down to the lake shore. Yes, you do have to watch for the goose and gull droppings, but that comes with a natural setting. There is a lovely firepit area as well as a playground and outdoor pool. We were in the Huron building and it was quiet except for the sound of the waves slapping the shore. Great stay!
This by far is one of the best motels I have ever stayed at The view from the room was outstanding. The rooms were great. Pools were awesome. Staff super helpful and friendly. The whole property was very well taken care of. Will tell anyone I know coming this way this is a no brainier.
This was our 2nd time staying here in the past couple of years. We stayed for 3 nights at the end of June 2016. We had a ground floor lakefront room which had sliders to a private deck area that walked right out to Lake Huron. We were traveling with our 7 and 8 year olds. The room consisted of 2 queen beds with a small sitting area. The room was clean, beds were comfortable, and plenty spacious for our family of four. It was wonderful to put the kids to bed and sit out on the deck or lay in bed listening to the waves while feeling the lake breeze. I would definitely recommend the lakefront ground level rooms. It made it very easy for the kids to walk out to the lake and hunt for stones while we watched from the deck/porch. It was also convenient to go to the playground, pool, or head out to the nightly bonfire right from our room. The hotel has two pools (indoor and outdoor) with hot tubs, a playground and large field area, work out room, laundry, and an awesome free breakfast complete with waffle makers. We made this our home base while we took a few days to explore others sights within about an hour from St. Ignace. Our kids loved it here and we will be back again! My daughter is sitting next to me right now and asked if we can go back next week!!!
This was the best BW of 6 that we stayed in during a road trip from Niagara Falls, ON, across Canada and down through Saugatuck, MI. The breakfast is awesome - efficient, good selection of food and beautiful outdoor seating available. I left a phone charger in the room and after calling to inquire, it was found and mailed to my home - arrived within 3 days !
This hotel was wonderful! The rooms were clean. The staff was awesome. The breakfast was great. They have a nightly bonfire that Zach started the night we were there. He could not have been more polite or personable. The front desk staff was so helpful & ready to help out. Especially Sara (I believe that was her name & I apologize if I got it wrong) she was very accommodating & professional. The breakfast was so good. We had such a nice send off sitting in the room like a gazebo enjoying our wonderful breakfast.
Loved it there ,it's very nice and clean. I would stay there again. Loved the fire pit and the staff was real friendly price is reasonable. But book early. Loved the vow of the lake and Makinaw island everything is walking distance for diners
This hotel was good. Clean bed and bathroom. That is important to me. The hotel needs to be updated! The lamps beside the bed were very old appearing and hard to find out how to turn them on! The bath towels were very thin and needed to be replaced. Parking was limited.
Ron and Shannon are the BEST! In June, we arrived as part of a group tour to absolute heaven...water view, fire pit at night, EVERYTHING taken care of by Ron!!! All I had to do as the group leader was soak in this wonderful first taste of UP Michigan. Room, GREAT! Food, GREAT! Service, GREAT! Scenery, GREAT! Highly recommend!
This is a great place to stay. Friendly people, excellent rooms, great breakfast. The rooms were clean and comfortable. It was fun sitting around the fire pit visiting with others from all over the US. The guy that lit the fire sat and visited with us. Will definitely come back.
We had a lower level room with a patio that led directly to the water's edge. We had a breathtaking view of Lake Huron and Mackinac Island. We had spectacular views of the amazing fireworks show in the evening. We will definitely stay again!
This is our second visit to this hotel. I recommend it. Staff has always been friendly and helpful. Both times we stayed in the Ontario building and had beautiful lake views. The pillows and bed were great. Not too soft. The hotel was full and I don't recall hearing much if anything from neighboring rooms. It's not fancy and a bit too dark but clean and functional. The mini frig was perfect and there was a little kitchen area. The pool always looks great - it's big - but didn't get to test it out. The shower water temperature was inconsistent in the morning ranging from chilly to too hot and not at the desirable level but pressure was good. For a place like this and its location (lots of outdoor activities) I'm a little surprised they don't have 2 washers and dryers. There is only one set. They have a nice breakfast but not terribly friendly to dietary restrictions such as gluten free. Hard boiled eggs and Udi's bread upon request could easily fix it.
This is a lovely hotel. Our room easily fit a roll away with room to spare. We had a balcony overlooking the outdoor pool. The outdoor pool looked fabulous, however, it was raining when we visited....great news....there is an indoor pool too! My only tip when staying here is to request a top floor at the end of the building as you can easily hear footsteps above and people walking on the walkway next to the rooms.
I booked a king bed with a lake view and a private balcony; I got a king room with a Jacuzzi and a partial view, barely a view at all from a ground level room. I did not ask for or want a Jacuzzi; I wanted a view and balcony. When I complained and asked why I didn't get the room I had reserved, the desk clerk couldn't explain why and tried to blame a third party booking site. I made my reservation through the Best Western site so then she blamed that site and said they don't know the rooms they actually have. No apology or compensation was offered. The refrigerator was located under the bathroom sink. You had to kneel on the floor to access it and you couldn't stand near the counter because the frig was in the way. The room came with a table and chairs but the chairs were so low the table was almost a chin height. The room was clean and the breakfast was good, but overall the experience at this hotel was disappointing.
Have stayed at this hotel for over 25 years. With the 3 room suite the whole family stays together and enjoys the vacation. Grounds very well kept and the buildings clean and well maintained. The right place for a family to stay with many things to see and do. A quiet place to relax and enjoy. Will do it again!
With the fire pit burning brightly and S'Mores being made by the lake, this resort offers a fun place to bring the family before or after visiting Mackinaw Island. The friendly staff and nice rooms make it a joy to visit and watch the sunrises and sunsets.
Awsome views from our room with balcony. Indoor and outdoor pools with hot tubs. Nightly bonfires. Close to town we walked. Traveled with a young child he loved it. I will definitely be coming back if in the area. Highly recommended for visitors. You can walk to the ferry boat docks.
This is a great hotel. The rooms are nice. It has an indoor and an outdoor pool and hot tub. The staff was great. the breakfast was hot and good. They have a great view of the bay and have a fire and s'mores each night. We had a great time there.
Excellent accommodations and supper and friendly STAFF ,every one from the front desk, to the maintenance staff went out of their way to insure the guests were given individual attention. My wife and I were there with our 2 grand daughters and everyone went out of there way to make a stay a pleasurable and enjoyable one.
We have stayed here twice and we'll stay here again! The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and the free breakfast is good and plentiful. Our room was wonderful, we were overlooking the lake and had a balcony.
The hotel had a great location, right on the shore of Lake Huron. I stayed in one of the 1950's style single floor motel design. walking out the door of the room the lake is to your right. The hotel is well maintained and clean. There is a play space for children, a large pool and a fire pit area for the adults. Next time we are in St Ignace we will be staying here.
We spent two nights at this hotel. It was exceptionally clean and the staff was very helpful and friendly. It was right on Lake Huron, and although we didn't have a lakefront room, it was a short walk around the building to get to the beach. The grounds were well kept and it was nice to sit around the fire in the evening and chat with other guests.
Friendly staff with great attitude. Property is large with 2 swimming pools, beach area , and bbq pit for roasting marshmallowsI in evening . A nice breakfast for free in morning. Very enjoyable and worth the money. A real jewel for all in the family. Highly recommended.
Over all good experience. Very nice rooms that have appeared to have been recently updated. Exterior leaves a little to be desired. Two good pool areas and over all appears to be well maintained. Marshmallow roast at night was a nice touch. Rooms were seemed a little over priced but not crazy.
Spent a couple of nights while visiting Mackinac Island. Room was clean and comfortable with view of Lake Huron, and Mackinac Island in the distance. There was not a parking area for the restaurant, so it was a little walk from our building.
One night stay during our cross-country road trip. Room was very nice, right by the waterfront. Everything was clean, neat and the staff helpful. Would recommended for any traveller. Only comment is concerning breakfast. Evidently there was a large tour group (3 buses) staying here with set times for groups to attend breakfast. Wish the front desk had informed us ahead of time so we could have worked our schedule around the tour group.
Spent a couple of nights here. Top floor, water view suite. Room was nice and clean, bed very comfortable and a great staff. Breakfast was very good. The room we had had a hot tub. Not that big of a deal for us, but they have them. Waterfront property is well maintained, right on Lake Huron. Also, not too far of a walk to restaurants and the Star Line ferry to Mackinac Island.Relax....
Best hotel experience I've ever had. This hotel feels like more of a resort. We took advantage of all that we could. We stayed in the Ontario building and had a beautiful view from the second floor balcony. We were able to sit around the bonfire and watch the fireworks on a Saturday night. The outdoor pool is gorgeous. The rooms are spotless! Very comfortable beds! I have no complaints other than the fact that I had to leave.
This is the only hotel to consider on a visit to St. Ignace. Very friendly and helpful staff. It is a beautiful property looking out on to Lake Huron and Mackinac Island. The breakfast every morning is always good and the addition of gravy this time was a nice surprise.
Just got back from staying here for 4 nights & wow, it was amazing and worth the top ratings received! We stayed in room 220 in the Huron building. We had a huge patio that faced the lake and Mackinac Island. It was so relaxing and beautiful. I usually don't spend much time at a hotel while vacationing but I did here. The free breakfast had a nice variety but I suggest going as early as possible or it gets super crowded. There is an outdoor pool/spa and an outdoor one too. There is a nice walking area down by the beach. Each night there was a campfire. I would totally stay here again.
Great place to stay...if you plan on going to Mackinaw Island or spending time in St. Ignace or across the bridge. We have to cross the Mackinaw Bridge every time going to Mackinaw City. Lovely place to stay on the water, great breakfast, wonderful staff, plenty of place to eat out.
We stayed at the Best Western Harbour Pointe hotel last summer with friends and had a positive experience. It was obvious that this would be our hotel of choice this summer when we returned to the Mackinac area with family members. We were not disappointed! The rooms were clean and well maintained! The staff was very friendly! There was a variety of breakfast foods available and that area was kept very clean too.
We had a good experience. Although it was only my husband and me that stayed this time I would definitely recommend the place to families. They have a large playground area, offered a fire pit by the lake with marshmallow roasting, have a nice outdoor pool as well as an indoor pool for bad weather days. Our room had a king sized bed, a private balcony and a view of the lake. The room was spacious. The breakfast was one of the better ones around and there was ample room for many people to eat. FYI: The Michigan building is right next to the playground close to the beach and bonfire area. The Superior building is next to the outdoor pool area. Ontario building is on water.
Can't wait to go back there. Spent 2 nights Fire pit and marshmellows were a great way to unwind in the evening and meet new friends. Right next door to ferry dock to get to the island and close to the interstate highways
This place is amazing. Went way beyond what I'd expected. My husband and two toddlers( ages 3 and 4) stayed for two nights. First off, the room we had was the cleanest hotel room I've ever stayed in. The beds are very comfortable. We had a ground level room facing the pool which was awesome because my two kids swim like fish. I could sit on the porch and watch them swim with my husband. The pool is huge and walks in like a beach. There is also an indoor pool. And hot tub. The grounds are beautiful, overlooking the lake and Mackinac Island. My kids played on the playground and had a blast. Continental breakfast was great, waffles, biscuits, gravy, eggs, potatoes, cereal, all kinds of beverages. The hotel is in a good location and close to downtown. I will recommend to everyone I know that's heading to St. Ignace.
Visited family in the up. Decided after we crossed the bridge to stop for the night (8yr old was getting stir crazy). Could not have picked a better place! I unfortunately broke my foot prior to leaving. So i wasnt able to do alot of things but But we were given an amazing room on the 3rd floor of the Ontario building. The views were amazing, the seagulls were hilarious and being able to sit on the balcony and just look at the water....simply wonderful!
Harbor Point in St. Ignace is a first class, lakefront property overlooking Lake Huron and Mackinac Island. Our room was 35 feet from the water's edge with a balcony. Morning sunrises were breathtaking. Ronn, Hotel Manager, goes out of his way to accomodate guests and provide customer satisfaction. Room was overprice because of the 4th of July weekend.
A very nice motel, terrific location, extremely helpful personnel, very clean and spacious room, great view of Mackinaw Island, and very good breakfast. There is a very nice pool. The next time we go to Mackinaw Island we would stay here instead of on the Island.
We stayed her for 4 days 3 night! We had a wonderful time and staff areal all great! The view is amazing, we watched the sun rise. Hotel staff have a binfire at 9pm every night. Play grou d for the kids to play. Indoor and outdoor pool! We will def be staying here again! Thanks for making our first family vaca to the U.P one to remember!
We stayed one night so that we could visit Mackinac Island. We wish we would have stayed longer. the view was nice. Pool overlooking the lake was great. breakfast was very good (eggs, waffles, sausage + continental. We really enjoyed the firepit and the hotel got the fire going.
Had an amazing time in the hotels jacuzzi suite! Close to the ferris to go to the island too! Very helpful and energetic staff! Clean rooms, nice pools and a Bon fire pit with marshmallow roast at night. Definitely the nicest hotel in the area and wellWorth the money.
Make sure you book direct with the hotel staff to get a room with a great view. Central booking at Best Western will put you in the cheapest room available. The hotel staff are wonderful and very efficient. There are plenty of employees to help and service your every need.
Courteous, helpful employees - always with a smile and willing to go above and beyond to make sure your stay is a pleasant experience. The breakfasts are wonderful and the rooms are clean and very comfortable.
The front service was very pleasant & helpful, we had bikes and wanted to bike across the Mackinac Bridge and they informed was that we couldn't but directed us to the Bridge Park. The room we had was right by the lake the ground floor complex it is great for seniors, we loved it. The fire pit is very close beautiful perfect lake shore. Very clean & comfortable beds. Great stay if you are going by ferry to Mackinac Island it is next door.
Super friendly staff, on a large property. Multiple hotel buildings, so you will have to walk a hundred feet or so outside to the pool and the breakfast, so be aware of that. Our room had a private lakeview balcony, and it was superb. Great view of Mackinac Island and Lake Huron in the moonlight. Gulls, waterfowl, and terns entertained us on the water. Communal bonfire. I wish we had a few more nights here, honestly. Price was very good for everything we got.
Everything was great. I could have not asked for more. One very minor issue was wifi in our room was spotting and weak. However, if you're there for the wifi you might need to reevaluate your lifestyle. I am the Email admin for a fortune 100, and the wifi was very very minor because I am on vacation. Once my wifi reminded me, the wifi was no issue at all. The staff was more helpful and everything that any Hilton brand I've stayed at.
This hotel is right on the straights of Mackinaw. It features lovely water views from many of the rooms. The resort has two pools and offers campfire lit evenings. It's very quiet and peaceful and is perfect for day trips in the Upper Peninsula of MI.
This is my favorite hotel. Stayed at this property when I was a little girl and it was just a Mom and Pop run motel. Have returned here many times over the years and never had a bad stay. Room is always clean. Bed is always comfy. And you cannot beat the view of the sunrise in the morning. Breakfast in the morning was good. Food was hot and replenished often. Only wish they would add an extra waffle iron or two. On a busy morning, you may have to wait for it.
We stayed in the Huron building. The room was very spacious with a view of the harbor. The property is great, with an indoor and outdoor pool and Jacuzzi. We could see the fireworks from our rooms balcony.
Friendly, efficient staff greeted me at check in and we were quickly in our clean well maintained room. The location is perfect, just on the quiet north end of town on a main road with a nice beach, and beautiful views of nearby Mackinaw Island. We sat on our balcony sipping coffee and watched the ferries go back and forth to the island. Very relaxing. The Kewadin casino is minutes away, and the shopping in town is close by. We chose a room with a view of the water, families liked the rooms close to the beautiful outdoor pool. We stayed last year near the beach and were near the nightly bonfire with comfy chairs to sit in. Next trip north, we are definitely coming back !
Made our reservations 11 months in advance, requested not to be on 1st floor and was given a 1st floor room with the explanation that I should have called the hotel directly and not booked on BW site! As a matter of fact, I did call the hotel directly! The men at the front desk need a lesson in customer service! The place was average and there are many other hotels in the area that I would try before going back!
I've stayed at this hotel more than once and every time I've gone back they have always had vary clean rooms and grounds. Large continental breakfast, pay washer and dryer on site, fitness room, 2 pools and hot tubs one apiece inside and out, an on site park and most rooms have some form of lake view.
Best hotel that I have stayed in ! View was amazing! Staff was outstanding and friendly !!! Beautiful keeped lawns. Bon fire at night was a real treat, even severed marshmellows! Pool was excellent ! Breakfast in morning was well stocked with every kind of food a person could want to start your day off right. Plenty of places to park your cars with out other cars being on stop of each other. Rooms were well kept.
We used this hotel as our base while vacationing in the UP, the view from our lake front rooms were spectacular. Loved the sun rises over Mackinac Island, the sound of the waves and an occasional loon calling out early in the morning. The staff were friendly and accommodating in every way. Our grandchildren loved the pools, the view from the outdoor pool was great overlooking the lake and Mackinac Island. Can't wait to go back
This Best Western is a Very Good motel. It is kept up well, the location is good, within walking distance of a ferry company to The Island. The building are spread out so you don't feel closed in. The view of the water is beautiful. Indoor and outdoor pools. Good breakfast Great people.
We absolutely love this hotel! It's very clean and the staff is amazingly friendly and helpful! They went above the call of duty so many times! This is the 3rd time we have been there and we will be back there next year again!! Well worth the money and an amazing location!
Perfect place to stay in St. Ignace. Very nice clean hotel with what looks to be a brand new pool (Summer 2016) - with a view of Lake Huron. Double Queen room was very roomy. Atmosphere was cheery and breakfast area was large so you didn't have the usual awkward crowding.
This is a beautiful big hotel! Right on the lake, with an inside and an outside heated pool! Everything about this place was wonderful! I worked for over 25 years at a another brand of hotel that's considered above Best Western, but this one ranks right up there with them!!
This place is located right on Lake Michigan.... beautiful.....rooms clean and comfortable.Breakfast large selection of foods. Pools clean and large. Easy in and out! Quality Inn down the street should come and visit to improve there filthy place.
This facility is second to none. Great view of the lake, 2 pools, wonderful rooms, friendly staff, great breakfast. Located close to ferries to Mackinac Island. This hotel campus would be a wonderful place to spend several days.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and nicely decorated. It was a great hotel to stay in. The breakfast was filling and delicious. Wifi was great. My family would stay in this hotel again. Highly recommend.
Very comfortable and clean with amazing views of the water! The outdoor pool was heated and sparkling. We ended up extending our trip and the staff was more then accommodating - they moved all of our personal belongings to our new room for us. Everyone was very friendly and informative. We will definitely be staying again, as far as I'm concerned - this is the only hotel worth being at in St. Ignace!
Stayed at the Best Western with a tour group...actually many, many tour groups were there on the weekend of the Mackinac Island Lilac Festival. The management and staff were courteous and approachable, especially on such a busy weekend. My room was in the Huron building, not what I would consider the best of the 4 buildings on site but that is what my group was allocated. Don't know if it was my travel agent, the tour company or the hotel, but unfortunately none of my room requests were met. I would have preferred to deal with the hotel directly but didn't have that choice this time. If you can, get a lake front room in the Ontario building for great views. I would have paid extra for that. There is a shuttle cart that will pick you up and take you up the hill to the office / breakfast room / indoor pool (and back of course). Room A/C was good and I like the fact there was a Fan Only setting - good for sleeping if you like air circulation and a bit of "white noise". Beds were comfortable. Wasn't able to sit outside on the balcony because of the gnats - hundreds of them. Not much that can be done about them. Only problem is, when the room doors are left open by the cleaning staff, many of the gnats take up residence in your room. Take a fly (gnat) swatter ! The breakfast room was, of course, wall to wall people, even though the bus group times were staggered. Not too bad Saturday, but Sunday and Monday were extremely busy. The staff did very well keeping everything refilled as fast as possible. The breakfast itself was the same each day while we were there - lots to choose from to start your day off right. The coffee was good and loved the waffle makers. There is a covered outdoor patio to eat in where it is less noisy but still busy so grab a table when you see it. Didn't try either pool but they both looked clean. Too cold for the outdoor pool except for the very hardy but nice to sit out there and gaze out to the lake (my room didn't have much of a view - it was a corner room). There isn't anything around the hotel as far as getting groceries and not too many (if any) restaurants within walking distance. One of the staff was kind enough to take me on a run he was doing to the local grocery store. Purchased a salad and ate it at one of the property picnic benches down near the lake, surrounded by newly born goslings and their parents. Very peaceful. The pier for the ferries over to Mackinac Island is very short walking distance. The BBQ on our last night was well organized and had a good selection, although the veggies could have been a little less "al dente" - just my preference though.
What a great stay at the Harbour Pointe. Our Motor Coach group of 38 couldn't have been treated any better. Clean rooms, excellent breakfast, beautiful view. Our group stayed in the Superior Building which had an elevator which our seniors required. Enjoyed the balcony, hot tub, and some of the group went to the marshmallow roast and enjoyed it. I would recommend the Harbour Pointe to anyone going to St. Ignace.
Very nice balcony rooms. It felt like we were on a cruise practically with the sound of the waves to fall asleep to. Within walking distance of ferries to Mackinac Island or shuttle can pick you up. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful.
This Best Western is awesome having two pools and hot tubs. One of each indoors and outdoors. They had bonfires with roasting marshmallows. There is a nicely equipped playground. A very good selection of a free full breakfast. Free WiFi. This hotel is walking distance to the ferry for Mackinac Island. Our last night they had a BBQ that was tasty.
Our hotel stay was a pleasant experience on the shore of Lake Michigan. This is a great place for families to stay at a reasonable price. There is a large area for opportunities to catch balls, play with Frisbees along with two pools and a hot tub.
Very pleasantly surprised when we arrived. Nice, clean property. Several nice amenities. Would consider staying there again if in that area. Very close to all the ferry docks, especially Shepler's who were within walking distance.
We decided to stay in St. Ignace during our Lake Michigan Circle Tour and called the Best Western at the last minute. We got the last room with a king bed which happened to be a lake view Jacuzzi suite. It was a huge room and would be great for a family except that the Jacuzzi was in the living room! Not very convenient, private, or romantic. We had a balcony but could not use it because of the bugs the resort was dealing with. This facility is very large with five separate buildings. There were five tour buses full of tourists staying at the hotel. The room was clean and the bed and pillows were very comfortable which I did not expect from a Best Western. The only real disappointment was the breakfast. They hype the waffles and hot breakfast items but if you are looking for good quality and healthy options, you should find a nice café. They had sausage and scrambled eggs that were from a mix, cheap muffins and breads, sugar cereal, and instant oatmeal. The orange juice was good but the coffee was not. We stayed in three Best Western facilities during this trip and each one had the same breakfast so it is a corporate thing.
Could not have been happier. Checkin was quick and easy and we had a 2 bedroom suite with a patio overlooking the water. We were even able to get ferry tickets to Mackinac Island at the front desk. It was a little bit of a walk to breakfast, but that was a small price to pay for a large room. We also enjoyed the smores at the fire pit in the evening. Nice thing for the resort to do, and great way to meet people.
We only spent one night at this hotel/resort but would have loved to stayed longer. Staff was courteous and attentive, everywhere shone and sparkled, and breakfast was delicious. The lakefront setting is beautiful. Highly recommend this hotel for a get-away with young children because of their play area, indoor and outdoor pools and excellent TV reception. :)
Hotel was very clean, front desk friendly. Disappointed that the pool was in a different building than our room. Had to walk outside to get to pool ( temps are cool, low 50s). Also, i booked a room with a balcony facing the lake. Great room but could not open the sliding glass door due to gnats (giant ones). They are all over the place.
Our kids sent us on an anniversary trip and chose Best Western Harbour Pointe Lakefront and we couldn't have been happier! We enjoyed our time here very much. The employees are very friendly and helpful. The property and rooms are very clean. The breakfast was really good and we were happy that it was available until 10 am. There were gnats and we were informed of that. We get them where we live as well. It's just that time of year. It is beyond their control and all the hotels seemed to be having an issue with them. We didn't let it ruin our trip and we coexisted with them quite well. We will stay here again.
A vey clean hotel with exceptionally friendly staff. Stayed in a King room (which doesn't have a porch or balcony as some literature would suggest). The room was a good size and it came with normal ameneties however there is no microwave. The hotel comprises a number of buildings but only one breakfast area which gets very busy and must be turmoil in the busy season. The only real downside was the WC in the room, it was made for three feet high people without any sort of knee complaint. I would suggest that if you are either above average in size or have any sort of knee complaint you will find it problematic to use..
Very impressed with this hotels staff, cleanliness, location to the ferries (to and from the island). Comfortable beds, large rooms. Beautiful landscaping and we would definitely stay here again if ever in the area again.
We had. Family unit (2nedrooms,5 people) in Ontario building.... Loved it!!! Indoor pool is great, accept, I don't see how one will get there in cold season (say, late fall), because it is in separate main building, you have to walk outside, all wet... So, keep that in mind when booking:)). Breakfast was delicious!!! Great variety to choose from:waffles, omlet, sausage, muffins, fruits, Oatmeal and cereal.overall, highly recommend it family friendly resort!!
This Best Western is a little gem in St. Ignace. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms, good breakfast. Beautiful views of Lake Huron, bon fires at night. Rooms are generous, comfortable beds. Large enough to roam, but small enough to feel like you're at home. A number of buildings spread out over beautiful yard.
For the past 25 years we have traveled about 100 - 150 nights a year and where we travel to the Hilton Brand is predominant. So this hotel is clearly no Hilton but then nether is the price. If this were a Hilton I'd give it three stars and not four. We were in the Ontario building. The good is the view, being right on the water, and nice large size clean room. The great is the staff is super friendly, the breakfast was great and you can buy your horse drawn carriage tickets and ferry tickets at a slightly discounted price right at the front desk. Ok now for the not so great and remember the price is great compared to a typical Hilton. The walls are thin and I could hear people walking in the room above and next door. I am almost 70 and lost one ear drum to cancer so I'm very hard of hearing; therefore, the walls must really be thin. The TV has a governor to only allow the volume to a level that I can barely here. Not good for me but probably a good idea with the thin walls. Lastly and this is not the hotel's fault but I was here in early June and there are flying gnats, all over the place. They are NOT aggressive and don't bite, but a patio doesn't do much good when there are hundreds all over the patio wall, the patio chairs, the sliding glass door, etc. So we couldn't have our sliding glass door open because the majority of the pests are between the screen and the glass! Mackinac island has the same problem so this is not just a problem with this hotel. I suspect the further you stay from the water the better chance of less gnats. Perhaps it is better later in the summer, I'm not sure. I have posted pics of the gnats on my patio and the paper the hotel leaves in the room explaining the situation. My advice is to not have a room near the water because your balcony is useless. So 4 stars for lots of good things but not 5 stars because of some small things one of which is not the hotel's fault.
My new wife and I stayed here right after memorial day 2016. Found it on a search engine and figured "lake front view" was overrated and if you had binoculars...nope! Check in took two minutes, indoor pool and the property is definetly one that doesn't disappoint. The quality of our room was done to a standard not seen in a while. Screws on light switches, tub drains, and outlets were all matched up. Wallpaper was aligned dead on. The only thing that wasn't out of a travel guide was the sea gulls gathering around because the kids and adults are throwing bread right behind the fire pit causing a whole gang to show up for dinner. The view of the island is fantastic, it's almost totally private and feels like your personal resort. This is definetly a goto vacation spot for us.
I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a place to stay in St. Ignace. It is very close to the ferry docks and near by Native American Museum. Our room had a great view of the water. There is a playground, beach area and common are with large fire pit. Next year I plan on bringing the necessities to make smores. The breakfast was great with eggs sausage and waffle makers that worked very well.
The sign in the front of the office read "Voted #1 by TripAdvisor" - not quite sure if I would agree but have not tried any of the others as this was a first visit. We found the hotel room to be very clean but the stairway to our room was not so much - probably because of children staying in the building. I would say that it was adequate and the breakfast was good for us as we were just wanting something quick so that we could board the Ferry to Mackinac Island. When I return I will check out other locations but I would return to the Best Western unless I found something better.
Noises all night from children and people on the beach directly across from our rooms balcony, well past 2 am. Front desk staff did nothing about it. The "common" area of the beach is well marked out and after a certain time should be adhered to. Little black bugs akin to gnats infested the area and room.
Best place we have stayed at yet. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I bought ferry and carriage ride tickets at the front desk at a discount. Our room was not ready so we spent the day at Mackinac Island and had a great time and checked in when we got back. If we were to go back again we would stay here. We heard no exterior noise at all. We awoke to see a family of Canadian geese out our sliding door to our private patio. Very peaceful. Every convenience was close.
Travel here at least once a year. This time as my birthday present...always delightful. The staff is great and the hotel is well cared for and very clean, Easy access to Mackinac Island, the nearby casino and Sault St. Marie is not far at all to go watch the freighters navigate the Soo Locks. Great fun!.
This stay was one of the best hotels we have ever been in. The suite in the Ontario Building was outstanding with full bedroom, living room and Jacuzzi. The entire resort was spotlessly clean. The breakfast had ample food but staying there five nights, it had no changes or options and was repetitive each day. That would be my only criticism. While there, the resort accommodated a rather large highschool group which had no effect on the remaining guests. Obviously, great planning went into hosting teenagers and providing them lots of space to vent that youthful energy. There was also a paving project which also never interfered with their guests. I highly recommend this beautiful Best Western to everyone planning a trip to St. Ignce and Mackinac Island. The walk to the ferry is short and it gives you much needed exercise.
Very nice hotel. Reasonable prices and employees go out their way to help you. Rooms are clean and comfortable. I would stay there again. Cancellation policy is 3 days out, which is kinda far, but we made a mistake on our return date from the island and they very nicely moved our reservation back the day of to the next day without any extra charge.
Always stay here every time I am in St. Ignace. Great hotel and staff. They make you feel like you are apart of the family. This hotel is very well maintained inside and out. They are always improving every year.
Recently stayed at the Best Western Harbour Pointe Lakefront. I stay in high end hotels for business trips and this hotel was equal to some of those hotels. Peaceful, spacious and the Employees were so friendly!
We had a lovely room with an incredible view overlooking Lake Huron. There are several different buildings: we were in the Ontario building. The lake was perhaps 20 feet from our building. Our room was very clean, the bed comfortable and there were 2 very comfortable chairs. The front desk staff is extremely friendly and helpful. If you want to purchase tickets for the Star Line ferry to Mackinac Island and to a carriage ride on the island - at a saving get them from the front desk folks.
We going to the island. Needed a place off the island to stay one night. The staff were great and accommodating. Room was phenomenal. Spacious and the view was great. We were able to see the sunset and moon rise. Enjoying the view from the balcony of our room.
This is a very nice hotel property with a very friendly staff. We stayed at a time the area was just waking up for their peak season, and therefore things were probably a little less active than what would be experienced during the peak time. Very friendly person at the front desk gave a great recommendation for dinner downtown by the lake. Nice pool and spa. Very clean room, comfy bed!
This hotel was clean and the staff were wonderful. The room needed some updating. The view of the lake was nice but separated from our room by a really big field...not as close as some of the other properties. I would definitely stay here again.
For under a hundred dollars we scored a lake view with balcony. Nice hotel with great indoor pool. Outside pool was being worked on and it is still early in the season. Nice breakfast area. Not your typical hotel as there are separate buildings with outside doors. Nice playground and fire pit area.
Loved our room and weekend getaway to the U.P.We had a king room in the Ontario building.Spacious with awesome immenities.Sight seeing and Mackinaw Island this weekend. No problems with hotel, definately worth the money.Very friendly staff.
Researched several areas for a weekend getaway to Mackinac and St Ignace was suggested from family who use to live in The Soo as I was trying to not break the bank. This was the #1 rater hotel for St Ignace and the price point was perfect. Below you'll find a few pros, cons and need to know to help you plan your vacay at the hotel and surrounding area. HOTEL. Location: You drive by several shady looking motels as you approach the Best Western. Outside of the Holiday Inn there isn't a better looking exterior. There's also a boardwalk if you drive past the ferry launch. Would be a good family activity with some great views. Customer Service: Check in was quick and smooth. A younger guy named Ryan I think was the best employee I dealt with. Purchasing the slightly discounted ferry tickers were easy too. Room: We had a lake view King. Room was very spacious and the bed was amazing. Freaking faucet water pressure could strip the stain off a deck. Wish the shower head had even half of that. Was still not bad. Private patio was a good benefit. The fire is in the bathroom, which is weird. Pool: Outside was closed as we were a bit early for the season but we did go in the indoor. The jacuzzi was okay but the jets were mediocre. Was a good luxury after a long day on the Island. FYI: If you have kids, the playscape is cool, but there's a TON of goose poop there so be mindful of you send them off. Be leary of the flying gnats. They're upfront about it as its a issue all around the water. Can ruin a walk to the water though. The fire pit looked okay but it was just a bit too windy and cold to partake. The ferry docks are NOT within walking distance of the hotel. I'm healthy in my mid 30's and it would of been a 10-15 min walk. Not bad but the few blocks is deceiving. They do have a shuttle and parking is free if u want to drive. It's less than a 5 min drive. Could be a long walk back to the hotel after a long day on the Island. Sunset/Sunrise. Unless you're in the Ontario building and facing the water (I assume these are the $$$ rooms) that building will block your view but you could wake up and walk down if you want. Sunset can't be scene from hotel but there's several areas you can drive to see it. AROUND TOWN FYI We ordered BCs Pizza at 11:30 at night and received a good medium pizza for $14. Java Joe's looked cool and the service was super friendly. Wasn't too impressed on the coffee or some of the food. The local casino. I can't think of the Indian owned casino but we did check it out one night. I was highly impressed and it exceeded my expectations for a small casino. It was clean with a great deck area over looking the water. Some beers were 2.50-4.00 which isn't bad for a casino. Very few table games and the wait for that and the poker room was lengthy. Poker room played very loose with some good credit if you sign up for their rewards card. Tons of slots, mostly penny. We didn't hit but I did see a lady hit for 1,400 on a penny one. We did check out Driftwood Bar for a few drinks after the Island and found it okay. At the time alot of locals getting tipsy. Fun ppl watching and cheap pool. Food was okay. We also went to Castle Rock climb. For $1.00 per person you can't go wrong as it is a great expertise to climb with a okay view too. Good for kids and able parents. We also ate at Weinerlicious before the Bridge at Mackinac City. It was okay too. Chicago dog was good. Cool interior. OVERALL Depending on price and what you're looking to do, I'd easily stay here if I'd visit again. Might limit it to a couple nights and maybe one on the Island on the next time.
When we arrived, we were upgraded to a room in the Ontario building because ours was being renovated. This is a new building with all of the rooms facing the lake. The balconies are only a few feet from the shoreline, facing the sunrise. We were to be there for 2 nights, but my husband had a biking accident on Mackinac Island and we had to leave the next morning. The staff could not have been more accommodating! They didn't blink when they knew he was still bleeding or when we had to cancel the next night's stay. They provided all we needed. The hotel is beautiful. There is a lovely brunch and a very nice glass-enclosed area to eat in.. The pool also looked inviting, but we had to be on our way. We appreciate all they did for us!
My husband and I spent a long weekend in the UP for our 35th anniversary. I requested a king size bed with a jacuzzi. We got a very nice room in the Superior Building with a lovely view. When we got back from dinner our first night, we heard water dripping. The shower in the room above us was leaking into our bathroom. We called the front desk and they came up right away. They moved us to another room in the Ontario building. I was afraid it would not be as nice as the room we were leaving behind, but it was a definite upgrade. We were now the proud residents of a two room suite. My husband and I felt like this was an unexpected anniversary gift. We almost didn't want to leave our room that weekend. The complimentary breakfast was very nice. It included some hot dishes such as eggs, hash browns, waffles, and biscuits. The staff at the breakfast was very friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff was also friendly, remembering us when we moved into the other building and wishing us well. We really enjoyed our stay there.
Loved the view, so relaxing to watch the birds and water. Staff was helpful with suggestions. Rooms were clean and quiet at night. Sleeping was wonderful to wake up and look outside at the water. Left something in the room and staff called and let me know. They shipped it right away . Awesome!
This hotel was just perfect for us. We drove in after 9:00pm as we lost an hour driving in from Wisconsin. Raleigh was so pleasant and helpful at the check in desk! We got a nice room with everything we needed, including a lovely lake view. I would definitely stay here again!
We were supposed to spend the night in a Best Western in Mackinac City, but the Best Western Harbour Pointe was cheaper, so we went with it. And we were really very happy we did! This hotel is situated in the cutest little town, it is very calm and peaceful. We stayed at the Huron Building and could enjoy the lakeview. All in all, nothing to complain about, everything was perfect ! And we will definitely come back.
We stayed in the Ontario Building right on the lake. Our room was fresh, roomy and very comfortable. We had a two bedroom, two bathroom suite overlooking the lake, with a walk out balcony that led directly to the lake. There were views of the lake from every window. It was very cold when we were there, but the heaters kept us warm and comfortable. Our room had brand new carpet which was an outstanding bonus! The staff was very nice and welcoming. They made our stay very enjoyable.
The staff goes out of their way to be helpful. They are very friendly and treat their guests as friends. The re-done breakfast room is very beautiful and as usual the breakfast was very good. We always enjoy our stay at this hotel!
Excellent service, clean, and comfortable, breakfast was the best we Have ever had at a hotel, great choices, excellent eggs, sausage, fruit, if left here hungry its your own fault! Rooms appear to be freshly painted, and upgraded, I just cannot find anything to be negative about!
Thiss came as a big surprise, for the money I was not expecting this. Asked for a room with a view. View was fantastic (Sunset) Room was large and very clean . Staff was very helpful and could not be nicer . Right next door to fairy line to mackinaw Island . Close to everything. Will stay at this motel every time I come up to Mackinaw Island
what a great room, we got to see the weekend fire works show in the summer we sat in side of the room to watch the fire works show. we would recommend this place to anyone and everyone we know. Cheryl aned schwartzn &
We rented a room at this hotel for the Memorial Day Weekend. The location is just perfect, about 2 minutes away from boat station going to Mackinaw Island. We rented a big condo with two queen beds in the main area and one large bed in the next room. There was one bathroom. The free breakfast was good. The view is great, the rooms overlook the lake and if you wake up early enough, you can experience a beautiful sunrise. There was a fire pit that we shared with others. There was also a little playground for our daughter. We were very satisfied with customer service, ladies at the front desk were very polite and helpful. Overall it was the best option we had in the area.
I booked a different room when I had more people in the group going on the trip. I was able to call a few days before check-in and get a different room at a lower rate. Any time I had to talk to someone on the phone at the hotel they were pleasant and very accommodating. Check-in and check-out was smooth. They were able to split the cost between 2 cards quickly. The continental breakfast was outstanding and helped fuel our race later that morning. We will definitely be booking again next year!
Given there are a limited amount of lodging choices in Saint Ignace, Best Western Harbour Pointe Lakefront is a great option. We were fortunate to have booked a room, the night before we arrived, right before they were closing for the fall/winter season, third week in October. We were able to get a private balcony room facing the lake directly. We enjoyed seeing the geese and hearing the sound of the waves. There were few people in the building which made it even nicer. The bed was comfortable and the shower was good. During the evening, we noticed some people were enjoying a bonfire on the grounds. Seemed homey. The complimentary breakfast was a plus. Was it restaurant quality? No. But, there were several options including cereal, waffles, powdered eggs, sausage, oatmeal, muffins, etc. which were good enough and filled the belly until it was time to eat again. Coffee was just okay and the Styrofoam cups small in size. By the way, there were no "to go" cups. Finally, the staff was helpful and patient with our requests and questions. Bigger plus. If we came back to the area, we would stay here again.
Very nice accommodations with a great view of the straits and Mackinac Island. Multiple buildings all with good views. Nice grounds with lots of open area right on the water. Had a complimentary gathering around a fire pit with furnished wood, skewers and marshmallows for roasting every night. Close to the ferry's to Mackinac Island.
The property is comprised of several buildings, independently accessible but not connected. The handicapped room we were assigned was clean and well maintained on the second floor. Ice was available only on the first floor of the Ontario Building where our room was located. The queen mattress was not very comfortable which led to a back ache for my wife. My opinion is that the mattress selection for the property is a basic mattress which is not firm or pillow type. The breakfast was well done and filling.
Location is great for visiting Mackinac Island. Ferries are close by and the front desk even sells tickets. The hotel itself is nice. The room was clean - the decor was outdated. The views of the water are great. There are separate buildings, so you have to walk outside to get to the indoor pool and breakfast area. The outdoor pool area looked very nice for the warmer months. We would stay again.
This was our second stay at BW Harbour Pointe, having visited 4 years ago or so. Our focus was to take the next day ferry to Mackinac, but we always have a great stay at this hotel. It is accessible to walk to restaurants on the water and to walk to the ferry. The outdoor pool is very nice looking and popular. All of the staff was helpful with local information and in accessing the hotel computer. The breakfast is always quite good, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. We will go back again.
Great location on the lake. Beautiful large room and a great breakfast. One of the nicer places we have stayed outside of a villa or condo. Very clean and the bed were comfortable after a long day on the road.
We stayed in a King bed room with a balcony on the lake. The view was absolutely beautiful! I will quick break down pros/cons of our stay: PROs: - CLEAN room! Bathroom was spotless, carpet clean, and it was very appealing. -fantastic view from our balcony! I could hear waves through the door at times if the fan was off and I was listening. Very calming and relaxing. We slept with the door open the following night because it was so peaceful. -Breakfast was pretty good. It had more limited options, but still options nonetheless. -TWO pools. We stayed when outdoor pool was closed, but it looked very nice (glass fence), and had a connecting hot tub. -Indoor pool was also nice. Wish they had another bathroom connected or shower on deck to rinse off after. -They door campfires each night by the lake. Beautiful and very camping-esq when it isn't really camping season anymore. -nice park with volleyball net. -have a fitness center, but wasn't able to go in and look because it was already locked on night. CONS -some staff was very abrupt and not very helpful at check in -ran out of TP the second night, and asked to have some brought up. Said they would see what they could do, and never got any. They have golf carts for employees, so it wouldn't have been very much to run some to us, especially toilet paper. It IS a necessity, and we had to get some the following morning after breakfast. -no rooms are connected to the main lobby area. You have to walk or drive (if lazy/rain/super cold) to get to the indoor pool or main lobby. It's not bad, but bad weather quickly changes that. Winter staying will not be fun if walking from pool-room or room-breakfast. Overall, not bad and would go back. Was a nice getaway for a weekend!
We stayed at this motel for 4 nights and it was an amazing stay. We had room 380 which had a king bed, Jacuzzi and a balcony overlooking Lake Huron. The breakfast was plentiful which enclosed scrambled eggs, toast, bagels, waffles, sausage, hash browns, yogurt, fruit, etc. Everything was great!
Nothing wrong with the room - everything was what we expected from a Best Western. However, we just noticed that there was no hotel phone in our room - this was a safety concern because if something had happen to one of us - there was no lobby to run to for help (there are 5 buildings in this complex). At least they should had posted the direct phone # of the lobby, housekeeping, etc. Most people have cells, but in an emergency we probably had difficulty reaching a local staff; we would just have to call 911. Our room was clean and spacious and we love the view. If management gets regular hotel keys (credit card type), they would expedite check out. And it bothers me that I had reserved a room at this hotel via their website and few days later I found it $30 less on Booking.com - BW price never went down - so much for loyalty appreciation!, of course I cancelled it with BW and book it with Booking.com which was a pleasant transaction.
We stayed here while visiting Mackinac Island. The hotel staff were very friendly, our room was clean and quiet. We bought our ferry tickets at the front desk and walked to the ferry. Good place to stay, but unfortunately we found nearby restaurants were lacking.
Pros: Beautiful, CLEAN and accommodating rooms! Staff was super friendly and helpful. Great breakfast. Close to Kewadin Casino, ferries to Mackinac Island and the bridge. Cons: Not the greatest views of the water and no view of the bridge. They do have a bonfire, but you have to walk across goose poop covered grass to get to it, distance depending on what building you are staying in. In ideal weather, a great place to stay, but if it's raining or snowing, not so much. Buildings are all separate from the main building were the front desk, indoor pool and breakfast is located, so almost like a campground were you have to walk or drive for breakfast, pool, etc. Outdoor pool was sort of centrally located, but again a walk or drive to use.
We had a beautiful view of the lake and sunrises over the lake from our room. Everything was well stocked and very clean. The front desk young man was so helpful in meeting our needs. All the staff was friendly, courteous, professional, and helpful. We will be staying here again during future visits to visit family and friends.
Great hotel in a beautiful setting on the shores of Lake Huron. Friendly staff who worked hard to keep the grounds clean, the breakfast stocked and the guests happy. The evening bonfire, complete with marshmallows is a great touch
I attend conferences in the western UP each autumn, photograph colorful trees, visit family and stay in Traverse City to play bridge with friends. I always make Harbor Pointe my way-stop to relax and enjoy the view of Lake Michigan and Mackinaw Island. Always clean, in order, courteous, and comfortable. It is a very large hotel, with many room choices, but I prefer the "Ontario" building which is right on the water. Beautiful sunrises and often nice sunsets.
Harbour Pointe is my only hotel choice when visiting St. Ignace. Very friendly staff. Great rooms are always clean. Beautiful views of Mackinac Island. A great time to visit for fall color. Already have my reservations for next year and looking forward to my return visit.
This is a very nice hotel and a great location on the water. If the weather was nicer we could've taken advantage of the beautiful waterfront and bonfire they had on the water. The rooms are very nice, beds and pillows are good and there is a nice little balcony. Indoor and outdoor pool is available and they have a very nice breakfast included each morning. Staff was very nice. Location is not far from the bridge to cross to lower Michigan - Mackinaw City. FYI - no Starbucks in St Ignace but there is a 3 story one in Mackinaw City. Enjoy this location year around.
did a bus trip to mackanaw island and stayed at this best western.this is a very large best western and was very surprised when i saw four or more buses after us.they gave us a time for breakfast and we where the second or third group to eat.every thing was fresh and fully stocked.these people are special.all the help was excellent.room was lake front on lake huron clean and comfy.i ask if the hotel was rated plus or better and i was surprised that it was rated standard.i stayed at plus hotels that could not come close to this one.
We took a break from a pretty stressful situation and drove to the bridge. Had no reservations and just happened to call to see if there was a room available at this Best Western. How lucky we're we? The room we got is literally 35' from the water. In the Ontario building. White swans feeding with their little butts up in the air. A beautiful view of Mackinac Island. We are getting ready to check out and my wife is in the spotlessly clean shower. I'm relaxing and waiting in the vaulted ceiling room on a very comfortable bed. There is a small fridge in the room. A good size TV. The room appears to be recently remodeled. New and quiet A/C unit. A very nice balcony with two, clean, chairs. Breakfast is a very pleasant short walk up the hill. The breakfast was up to par, or, a little better than most. Sausage, eggs, potatoes, bagels, cereal, etc. Pretty good coffee. All in all, this is a very, very comfortable and pleasant place to stay. Highly recommend it.
The kindest staff of any hotel we have stayed in. Also they are very knowledgeable and helpful. We did not see Tim, the manager but spoke to him on the phone prior to our arrival and he also expressed thanks for our staying at this Best Western. We really appreciate their warm attitudes!.
After a long tiring day on the motorcycles we found this hotel. The front desk staff were extremely helpful and caring. Our room was very clean. The Bed was extremely comfortable. Very relaxing and quiet location. If we had more time we would have extended our stay. We would go out of our way to return here.
Front desk staff was incredible. Room was in the Ontario building and was exceptionally clean. Walls are thin, but what can you do? Breakfast was delicious and overall, we were very happy with our stay! Would absolutely visit again.
I was hesitant, as we normally use the Hilton brand of hotels, but this hotel was awesome. We had a lakefront room on the top floor, and it was worth every penny. The breakfast had a lot of options, and a nice patio on which to enjoy the food. We would definitely come back to this hotel again.
We had an enjoyable stay at this Best Western and would not hesitate to stay again. It wasn't necessary to request any help but staff was helpful when needed. The location of this hotel was very good as we were able to purchase a package to get on the ferry to visit Makinac Island which included a carriage ride as well as the ferry and taxi to the ferry terminal.
The people are wonderful, the rooms are spotless and the amenities are very good. Rates are competitive. There is a great view of Lake Huron & the Ferry Boats to Mackinau Island. I highly recommend the Best Western Harbour Point Lakefront in Saint Ignace, Michigan U.S.A.
Went up north for the fall colors but we were alittle early for colors. Visited Tahquamenon waterfalls and they are a must see. The Kewadin casino was also near the hotel. St Iganace is a quaint town. Hotel grounds were very nice and the hotel is on the lakefront. We had a beautiful view of the water from our balcony. We will definitely stay here again.
The layout is more of a resort with the office, pool and breakfast area up on the hill. There are 4-5 separate large building with rooms. Our room was perfect in every way except for plumbing noise of other rooms- showers, toilets. Staff are great people. The "resort" is big and you must walk outside to get to the office area up hills. This may be difficult for some people but we enjoyed the property and getting outside. Our room had a fantastic view and was very clean. We stayed a couple of nights and housekeeping had our room well cleaned the next day.
My wife and I booked this property for a six day stay in early October. Best things about the resort: 1) the price was very reasonable, and only about 75% what you might expect 2) the rooms are clean and housekeeping comes in daily 3) the staff is friendly and helpful 4) the wifi is easy to connect to, has good signal strength, and actually features two networks 5) the breakfast is hands down one of the best I've experienced lately, and includes scrambled eggs, sausage links, bagels, muffins, Danish, toast, hot and cold cereals, yogurt, fruit, a waffle iron, coffee, milk and juice 6) the hotel is a two minute drive from all the ferry docks 7) the room TVs are newer flat screens and there is a good variety of channels 8) the pool and hot tub are well maintained. Things that may or may not matter to you, but that you should be aware of: 1) as noted, the hotel caters to a LOT of bus tours; the seniors on these tours are noisy, boisterous and early risers (before sunrise most days). If you intend to sleep in later than 6:30AM, that may be difficult, as the walls are thin and you'll be able to hear every word of every conversation of the people in the room next to you, who seem to change daily (because of the tours), but are invariably hard of hearing and talk loudly to compensate 2) the breakfast area is crawling with tour members from its opening at 6:00AM to about 9:00AM. If you envision a quiet relaxing breakfast and coffee, that ain't happening 3) the hotel does not feature DVDs players or pay-per-view. The cable selections are all you get 4) you will have to walk outside to get to the indoor pool. Depending on your room location and how late in the season you visit, this can be bracing. I can't fault the hotel for the bus tours. after all, you have to take your business where you can get it. Had we known about this though, we might have booked elsewhere. Your mileage may vary.
This hotel and the grounds are very nice and clean. Would stay here again. We stayed here for the ATV trek over the Mighty Mac. The views from this hotel is breathtaking and it is close to everything, casino, great places to eat. My only complaint was the weather but that is not the hotel's fault. :)
A one night stopover in St. Ignace provided a very pleasant surprise in the Best Western Harbour Pointe Lakefront. Our room was HUGE with a very comfortable bed, desk, two easy chairs and table, excellent TV, and a fantastic view of Lake Huron from our private patio with two chairs and a table........all for a very reasonable price! The bathroom was adequate with a small shower; however, everything else more than made up for that! Good breakfast in the morning, again with a view! Very nice folks! I won't even search for other properties the next time we're passing through! (Although we were not there to go to Mackinac Island, this hotel provides transportation to the docks for the quick trip over!)
A most enjoyable overnight stay. Staff was most pleasant and accommodating. Room was spotlessly clean, spacious and very comfortable. Will definitely book this hotel again if/when we are traveling through this area.
Agree with other posters that this a nice place. We had no complaints with our room. One thing to be aware of is that there are no elevators. We were first assigned a room on the 3rd floor but after finding that out we were reassigned a ground level room. The hotel was full on an October weekend. Be aware that many bus tours use this hotel. Breakfast was available in the main building, a big negative is the need to walk outside to get there. Depending on what building you are in, it can be quite a hike all uphill going there to eat. The breakfast room is very crowded, bright and hot. With bus traffic it can be packed if you arrive at the wrong time. There is a big overflow room but it was not in use. Looks like it was only used during warm weather. The food was usual breakfast fare, no oatmeal is offered, not even pre packaged. The eggs are powdered, but there is salsa, cheese, and vegetables to spice things up a bit. The grounds are beautiful, but no bon fire was offered the 2 nights we were there. The TV's are large with high quality HD, which isn't always available in the U.P. Beds were very comfortable. Wifi was quick and easy to connect to.
What a beautiful property! We had a room 30' from Lake Huron and enjoyed the full view with a balcony and sliding glass doors. The room's decor was very nice. The property had two pools, one in and one out, both looked very inviting. Unfortunately we didn't have time to use either one. We will stay here again!
