"Just like ski in - ski out"
Great location right next to Lift House. Rooms on the back face a small beautiful creek. Ones on first floor have nice patio table with chairs. Nice small hot tub with towels. Did not expect such a wonderful full breakfast. Staff was great. Everything you need is walkable. Loved the town & mountain.
"Best time at the Best Western"
I love this hotel. The location is fantastic if you ski, it's right next to the lifts. There are a lot of dining options and bars all within walking distance. The employees there are so nice snd fun to talk to, they truly make you feel at home. They also make a yummy made to order breakfast every morning, it's a great way to start your day.
"Best place to stay in Red River, NM"
This is the best place to stay in Red River, NM. Cooked to order breakfast, eggs, bacon, waffles, cereal, juices and hot coffee. My family wont stay anywhere else in Red River, NM. Its close to everything in the town, walking distance to all restaraunts.
"Ski Trip"
Best Best Western. Clean wonderful breakfast. Beautiful view. Best place to stay in town because walking distance to everything. Rooms clean and TV selection was great a lot of movie channels. Right next to lifts. 50 steps away. Great view. Sound of the River in morning is absolutely beautiful.
"Great place to stay:)"
Very clean, great customer service, breakfast made easy and good food prior to the day's activities. Good location in Red river, very consistent, beautiful area. Close to store and restaurants in walking distance!
"we will be back!"
convenient, comfortable, clean. Helpful friendly staff. The layout of the rooms was exactly what our friends group needed. We will definitely stay here on our next trip soon! We have stayed at other hotels in Red River. This by far is the best we have experienced. No need to look for any other lodging
"Another great stay."
Courtney and his staff make every stay comfortable and accommodating. Pet friendly rooms are clean and aroma free. Riverside rooms make the stay special. Breakfast is made to order for eggs, waffles and bacon. The hotel is situated at the base of Red River Ski and the lift is right there. Great restaurants close by as well a shopping.
"Found, the lost art of Hospitality!"
We were pleased to enjoy a delightful stay at this lovely hotel where we were greeted by clean well appointed rooms, comfortable beds with awesome pillows and other thoughtful details. Such pleasant owners and kind staff who obviously took great care to prepare for us as guests. Breakfast was delicious. Fresh made to order eggs and bacon with wonderful side items including waffles and juice, bagels etc. Thank you for being so gracious, we truly felt like appreciated guests!
"sid's nm trip"
stopped in red river on my way to Capulin volcano and lodged at this BW. Very nice property, located on the river, spectacular views of the river, ski lift and town. I had a great river view room. Staff was very cooperative. Room was well appointed with all functioning amenities. Don't miss this property when in ne nm.
"Mike - you're hospitality is GREAT!"
Mike made us feel like we were at home. The rooms were remarkable and the river view was an added bonus. When we came back through due to tire issues he went above and beyond to get us contact information for needed repairs. We will definitely stay again if in the area.
"A great place to stay"
A lovely hotel, right by the river. A real home-cooked breakfast, eggs & bacon - made to order. Convenient (within 2 min. walking distance) to nice restaurants. Everything worked in the room, bathroom was great. Chairs and bed had good support.
"Red River Best Western in the fall"
Third or fourth time and Mike is still doing a great in every facet of his job. Location is awesome as well. Mike has been there 14 years so that says something for owners and makes return guest very at home.
"Amazing hotel, cozy and lays just feet feet from red river and ski lift"
I can't believe the petty things i have read in the reviews. The hotel was amazing with a fire pit going nightly next to the river and wildlife. Red river is one of the safest and cleanest towns in NM. Mike was very accomodating and made a great breakfast every morning. Will be returning. Best location and friendliest staff in Red River. Absolutely loved it.
"Room broken into/items stolen"
Beware! This hotel is unsafe/valuables stolen. We went out for a walk and I always lock my door. When we arrived back at room the door was ajar. When we returned home and began unpacking, I realized valuable items are missing, including Apple AirPods and an expensive sweater. I'm sure we'll discover more missing items as we go along. We'll never return to this location.
"Fresh breakfast made to order!!"
We have stayed at Red River twice and the facility is simply beautiful. The staff is warm and friendly but the best part is breakfast, which the staff makes fresh for you on a griddle!! Great value in a beautiful setting!
"So relaxing !"
River is right out yor door and they have fire pits and chairs so you can enjoy those chilly evening. Courtney and his staff do an excellent job at everything. They have probally the best free breakfast that we have ever had. Everything in Red River is within walking distance so it makes it nice to walk around the beautiful mountain town. Red River Brewery and Distillery is just a couple of blocks away. The food and beer are excellent.
"Expensive"
Way overpriced. The manager/owner was intoxicated one night watching football having a party in the front lobby and no parking for guests. When asked about where to park the owner/manager stated just park in the dirt lot or anywhere you can find. And went back to the party he was hosting.
Courtney Henderson, Owner at Best Western Rivers Edge, responded to this review
I think you got the impression Mike the GM was throwing a private party in the lobby, when he was actually streaming the game for some of our customers. They are big Kansas City fans, and the Thursday night Chiefs/Chargers game was only available through Amazon's streaming service. Mike may have had some drinks with these guests and it may have appeared to be a private party, but Mike lives onsite and treats all of our guests as good friends. The dirt lot he was referring to is the 1-acre lot adjacent to the Best Western, which we purchased a few years ago (at a cost of $1 million) to provide overflow parking at no charge to our customers, and it has been extremely popular. We see everything from semi-trailers, UTV's and motorcycles to golf carts and luxury RV's, so you are correct that parking is at a premium here, but I promise we will always have a place for you to park. I do thank you for the feedback and apologize if you feel you were short-changed.
"Great place, great staff!"
The location is great and the breakfast was great! The gentleman that checked us in was very helpful and kind, even when I locked myself out of my room. The lady that makes breakfast is amazing, she makes your eggs to order.
"This place needs serious maintenance"
The only positive comments I have are the breakfast and the shower. The toilet ran all the time. The beds were so soft that we couldn't sleep and were sore from tossing and turning trying to get comfortable. The boards under the carpet are loose and noisy with EVERY step. Walkway needs planks replaced and painted. Hot tub area dirty. Definitely not worth the high price.
"Great Couples Getaway"
The ambience of the river running right outside your door literally along with the mountains and firepit, hiking, walking distance to dining and shopping make this a great couples getaway during the warm months. Not to mention the delicious breakfast every morning.
"Best Best Western"
Mike and staff are outstanding in taking care of our whole Tower Crew as we haphazardly travel constantly in maintaining Cell Phone Towers under extreme weather conditions and driving very dangerous mountain roads. Newly remodeled rooms make for a very restful and enjoyable stay. Breakfast made to order is really nice.
"BEST PLACE TO STAY IN Red River!"
Best place and best breakfast! Rooms are convenient and comfortable. Have everything you could possibly need! Breakfast is made to order and is delicious! We won't stay anywhere else in Red River. I hate to share this best kept secret!
"ALWAYS!"
This hotel is such a peaceful, beautiful place. The service is incredible. The rooms are clean. ALWAYS plentiful towels. The river just makes it the prefect vacation spot - wading, fishing, feeding the ducks!
"Great place to stay"
We have stayed here numerous times and have always had a wonderful experience. Staff are kind and caring, breakfast cook fresh and is very tasty. We always request a downstate room because we travel with our 2 dogs. They have never let us down.
"Peace"
Imagine a peaceful setting in the mountains with a quiet stream near the mountain community. That is what this Best Western delivers. Upon our arrival, Mike showed us our room. We were on the stream side of the building, with community tables and a great view. Our room was spacious and exceptionally clean. The bed linens and towels were the cleanest I've seen in a long time. Other hotels are clean. However, this hotel's quality was outstanding....AND, with no chemical smells. Lastly, the free breakfast is exceptional, too. You don't get just a free breakfast you get a breakfast made for you. There are several choices from waffles to bacon and eggs. Our breakfast was prepared by Kim. Our dogs were welcome. The fee was reasonable. Thank you for a positive experience in today's challenging world.
"beautiful setting"
We stayed here two nights. We were right on the Red River (really more creek size but the running water was so peaceful). It was a beautiful setting and the town of Red River very cute. Our room was steps from the ski slope. In the morning, the owner made breakfast to order - eggs anyway, bacon, waffles. It was delicious. We would definitely stay again.
"Hotel in Red River"
If you are staying a night or two in Red River, New Mexico, and especially if you are skiing, this place can't be beat. The location is perfect. The room was comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. Enjoy the creek right out of your door.
"Excellent location"
Great location for skiing. Everything is pretty much within walking distance. Had storage for our ski equipment right outside of the door. Breakfast was wonderful. The lady that cooked breakfast made waffles and eggs exactly how you want them. Very friendly staff.
"Excellent location, great service, nice breakfast, but still generally a low-budget motel"
There are no frills here – just a place to sleep at night if you're in town. Cute view of the Red River from the rooms facing towards the back, which we enjoyed. Breakfast includes bacon, waffles, and made-to-order eggs, plus a variety of cereals, breads, juice, oatmeal, and some pastries. Perfectly adequate, but not “great” like some others have described. Everyone who worked there was extremely nice and helpful. The rooms were clean, but not immaculate, and you could tell the motel is old and in need of updating. E.g., a roof leak appeared in the breakfast area during our stay, which lasted the whole time we were there (2 days), the table in one of our rooms was broken/crooked and not able to stand up correctly, the floor lamp didn't turn off and on correctly, and our toilet was finicky and a little gross. The location is perfect, right next to the Platinum Chair Lift, and having a parking spot was great given the chaos of everyone in town scrambling to find parking.
"We really enjoyed our stay!"
I'd like to put a low recommendation on the hotel so that no one goes there so that it is only available to me! But I won't!! We really enjoyed our stay, the staff were all very friendly and the ski in/out accommodations were great; super close to the lift with minimal stairs!
"Nice river side stay"
Perfect quick stay for the night and had river side view. Breakfast was easy due to staff on the waffles and eggs. So I do recommend staying here for the last minute trip. Check was fast and friendly. Also helped with letting me know about whats going on in the town.
"Like home"
This hotel has always made me feel like I was home. Mike is super friendly and always feeds us great breakfasts! The view is amazing!!! The river is beautiful and the main lift is only a few steps away. And when your day is all over, the hot tub looking up at the Face is perfect for the sore muscles!!!
"Great place! Motel has been nicely remodeled. It was even better than we expected. Nice river view. Steps from ski lift."
We will be back! This motel was very nicely remodeled, clean and comfortable. Just steps away from a ski lift. Nice area to sit by the river. Close to restaurants and shopping. Good breakfast. Small refrigerator in room with little freezer. Hot tub. All in all very nice experience
"Terrific"
Mike was an amazing host. Extremely helpful and friendly. I'm not one to stay in hotels, I prefer cabins but I definitely will stay at Best Western every time I go back to Red River. Mikes Attitude was awesome!
"Nurse Mel"
Absolute best hotel experience we've ever had. The breakfast is cooked to order and absolutely delicious. The GM Mike is very welcoming and friendly and full of knowledge for first time visitors. Rooms are excellent with beautiful views of the creek and mountains. I'm ready to go back.
"clean, comfortable and convenient."
If opulence is what you are seeking this may not be the place for you but if clean, comfortable and convenient is your jam than I highly recommend the Best Western Rivers Edge. Close to the ski lift, ski rental shop, restaurants and a great city park to walk your dog. We will stay here again.
"Amazing place to stay!"
Great location, super clean and you are treated like family! Rooms come with a refrigerator, microwave, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. Hot made to order breakfast along with continental choices. Walking distance to the slopes and local grocery store. Nice hot tub to soak in after a day of skiing. Overall the best place to stay in Red River!
"Great place to stay"
This is a great location for skiing in Red River as it it a short walk to the lift that you can do in your ski boots. The staff is great and the breakfast is good. Stick to the waffle and eggs and avoid the bacon. Everyone that works there goes out of their way to make sure you love your trip to Red River. The rooms are dated (no usb chargers in lamps/alarm clocks etc) but quaint and serviceable. If you are looking for a great ll around BW then this top 10.
"Top Notch"
Mike and his staff are top notch. Location is everything. We are frequent flyers. Step out of your room and hop on the lift. Come back and cozy up by the fire and listen to the river. Mike and his staff treat you like family from breakfast, to a lobby that's like sitting in your living room with family. Never heard a complaint ever about this Best Western.
"Love Red River"
The guest experience was exceptional. The manager was very attentive and actually cooked breakfast for the 3 of us. Bed were quite comfortable and very clean all around. The riverside view was a plus. would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Red River for what ever reason and for what ever season they are there. THANKS
"A great place to stay "
It's conveniently located with walking distance to great restaurants, stores and interesting shops. I am a Best Western's rewards member and the staff recognized it immediately. They got me the type of room I wanted with no problem. The rooms were clean and nice. They had a home style breakfast in the morning, cooked by a staff person. It has the good stuff like waffles, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, bagels, toast and fruit. I have to say I was very pleased that the attention the staff made to making sure breakfast food was hot plentiful and available. it was like a restaurant. The room's itself had all the space I needed and a Mini refrigerator and coffee maker which I use. Everything was working just fine and very clean I was impressed with the staff and their willingness to try to help me in any way that it could the hotel was great and made for relaxing stay. If you're using Google maps it can be a little hard to notice just look up for the sign. If you're low on gas you might want to top off before leaving town.
"October Get away"
Location was beautiful by Creek and with the changing Aspens, was idyllic. Room was nicely rustic, clean and very roomy. Beds comfortable! Breakfast in am was freshly made and hot! Front desk people were very friendly and helpful. Walking distance to restaurants and lifts
"A Breakfast Surprise"
The Red River Inn is at a beautiful spot by the river!! The rooms are large, clean and nicely decorated. They have picnic tables, fire pits and grills on the premises for guest use. Restaurants and stores are within walking distance. There is ample parking for our RV. But the best surprise was a home cooked breakfast of eggs your way!! Thank you and we will definitely return!
"Wonderful staff! Clean room! Protocol? No"
This is a beautiful spot on the river. Walking distance to town. We never moved our truck. Very clean and quiet in September. Kim was amazing in all she did. Don't understand a 7 day cancellation policy? Expensive for what room is usually half in most Best Westerns. Breakfast area is very small. No masks. Cater to TX guests. We are from TX. Wish they would honor N Mex laws. Disappointed.
"Fantastic Property and Stay!"
Stayed with a family of 6. Wonderful friendly staff, clean accommodations, great breakfast, wonderful stream running behind hotel. Very nice fire pit in the evening, nothing bad to say about this property. We would gladly stay here next time!! Keep up the great work!!
"Great stay"
Pet friendly, great location, clean. Our third time to stay here and it didn't disappoint. Winter or summer, close to everything. The breakfast was great, good service. Our favorite place to stay in Red River.
"Best value in Red River."
This hotel is fairly basic and older but has been remodeled and updated. The property is extremely well kept and right on the river. The nightly rates compared to most are less and very reasonable. You get excellent service all around and a clean and well maintained room and property.
"Nice hotel - perfect location!"
Clean, comfortable place in the perfect location! The breakfast is outstanding! Much better than the average free breakfast. Our room was comfortable and the shower had the BEST pressure with plenty of hot water. Our dog loved it too. We all enjoyed sitting around the fire by the River that runs behind the hotel.
"Exceeded our expectations!"
We spent a night in Red River and Best Western Rivers Edge and our stay there was wonderful. Although we didn't ask for this, our room was upgraded to a riverside view (which was spectacular). The room was exceptionally clean. There were plenty of towels and washcloths and the beds/linens/shower were the best. We will definitely be back if we pass that way again! P.S. Mike cooks a homemade breakfast (eggs/bacon/waffles/etc.) and it was delicious. Keep up the great work!
"Great location and property!"
Great walkable location, made to order breakfast items. Friendly and helpful owner. The location backs up to the riverside where you can sit at a firepit and watch the wildlife! If you are traveling by motorcycle, be prepared for the interesting parking lot..it's steep!
"rivers edge"
Enjoyed stay, would like to spend more than one night in such a beautiful locale. Room faced mountain stream, had several mallard ducks whom my wife enjoyed feeding. Large sliding windows allowed fresh mountain air and the southing sounds of a babbling stream. Large deck ran length of motel with plenty of tables and chairs, Some extra noise from guest on deck and children, but enjoyed sounds, Room and bed very comfortable, free breakfast above average, cooked to order by a very courteous young man.
"We loved the on the river, right by the lift for summer rides, and right at nature trail, close to restaurants"
This hotel is a well renovated older "motel" style floor plan. Try to get a room on the river side for best experience. There is a full breakfast to order in the mornings including fresh eggs, waffles and bacon. We walked to all the restaurants etc, but it is off the main street so less traffic.
"Stayed here after backpacking out of Red River May 2021"
This is one of the best kept hotels, just a bonus it is right on the river! Stay in a room that is riverside & each room has a table & chairs outside the room. Also a great seating area with fire ring! Rooms are clean with THE BEST showers, AWESOME water pressure!! Hope they bring back breakfast soon! Within walking distance to everything! Great stay! Would definitely stay again.
"Best hotel in the mountains"
This place is just a great place to relax in this mountain side motel. If available, the even numbered rooms face the Red River and the ski lift. This place was so great to have breakfast made to order, but not now. So if hungry for breakfast, just walk 30 yards to the Food Mart. Hopefully this amenity will come back....
"mountain time"
we love staying here , cheaper lodging can be found but Mike and Wesley are always so accommodating. We love that it is on the river and walking distance to restaurants, and shops Its our go to place to stay !!
"First Time Skiing Red River"
Had a great first time skiing at Red River. It's a very short walk to ski lift from the Bestwestern. The Red River runs right behind the motel. When I was there there were several Mallard Ducks feeding in the river. There were several deer in the city park too.
"Direct lift access"
We never had to use our vehicle once we arrived in Red River. The BW is located steps away from the ski lift. We could walk to dining and to the grocery store. The outside hot tub is along the river and right next to the ski slope, very cool experience. We enjoyed our stay.
"Weekend ski trip"
Loved the BWRE! 1st time staying there. Very good location. Near Platinum chair lift. Very clean! No breakfast at this time due to Covid. Check-in at outside window went smooth. Pet friendly! Plenty of towels, mini fridge, microwave, DirecTV. Sink faucet had a slight leak that we couldn't get to turn off. Bathroom door drags on tile a little. Near visitor center, which was good because we drive a Tesla. Free charging at visitor center.
"Slope side home in winter, riverside retreat in summer"
Best location in Red River on the river, next to the lift house. The Best Western has practically ski in and ski out convenience in winter, easy trail access in summer, and breathtaking views all year long. With spacious, comfortable rooms, our family of five finds plenty of space to spread out and rest at the end of a typical active day outdoors. When the lobby opens, the hotel hosts cook made to order breakfast with eggs, bacon, waffles and more. Most evenings in the lobby, Mike and Courtney create a fun, friendly environment where everyone is welcome to relax and hang out for a bit. They're also more than happy to share info on the town and seasonal activities. As repeat customers, Best Western River's Edge always feels like home. We will definitely stay again and have recommended to our friends many times.
"Great Value"
The hotel is right next to the river and is located within walking distance to most amenities. In the summer you can walk right out the door and fish, and a grill to cook up your catch. In the winter it less then 5 minutes to the chairlift. Staff is great, rooms are always clean and in a quiet area.
"Expensive for just okay."
My wife and I had business in Eagle Nest so stayed in Red River to be close to food options. This hotel has been a tourist staple for years being right next to the ski lift. Supply and demand dictate price so expect to pay $50 more then it would be worth anywhere else. It is noisy and well worn and needs a renovation,The lobby is closed due to C-19 and the security window was not open to check out. The night counter man was obviously inebriated when I asked about getting ice. Enough said.
"Fall trip"
Mike Patel and staff did a wonderful job to ensure our stay was great. We had fresh towels and the location of the Hotel was awesome. We listened to the running creek and at night they had a fire pit with furnished wood to Burn.
"Comfortable and Relaxing"
Our room was spotless and everything was in good shape. It was quiet and beds were comfortable. Managers were serious about safety precautions. The back porch and patio are just feet away from the river. It's a beautiful setting !
"We are back!"
This is one of the best hotels we always enjoy on our vacations. Mike is so awesome. We been coming here since 2011. We immediately noticed the room remodels and and how nice everything was. The rooms are always clean. Plenty of towels/wash clothes. Right on the river. Enjoying still, the fire pit, when it isn't under a fire ban! My hubs loves to fish the river right out of our room.Enjoying the company. It is a great place to come for the weekend or wind down like we do our vacation and it s a day's drive to get home. Always look forward to returning. No breakfast, not even brown bag is offered. A grocery store is a block up, so we went there to get breakfast and lunch items. Ate dinner out across the street at Capo's - show them your hotel key card, you get 10% off and they have yummy everything.
"Perfect spot"
This is my first time to stay here. Came because my parents have stayed many times and it's their favorite place to stay in Red River. It is now mine! To me, it is the most perfect location in town. Riverside. Directly behind the grocery store and within walking distance to everything in town. Because it is literally on the river's edge you don't feel like you are “in town” at all other than having the convenience of actually being in the heart of town. Just steps from the ski lift that is in operation during both winter and summer. Has a great area for picnicking, fishing, and lazy vacation days. Because we booked late we weren't able to secure a room overlooking the river but that didn't prove to be any big deal as there are plenty of spots to sit without being on a specific room's “porch.” Because of Covid 19 precautions they are not serving breakfast but according to my parents who have been here many times, normally the hot breakfasts are superb. Room was clean and very adequate. Not fancy but I've yet to see fancy accommodations in RR! Good WiFi. Loved every minute. We will be back!
" Nice location "
Stayed 2 Nights's here on our way to Santa Fe. Nice location with red river next to the hotel saw a handful of fishermen fishing directly behind the hotel. Walking distance to grocery store and more than a few really good restaurants and shops. Rooms are nice and clean. Only complaint is that hotel seems to allow pets. I could sense dog dander I our room. Nothing against animals but unfortunately my allergies do not like them. Outdoor hot tub and 2 nice Weber gas grills to use. Many tables and seats by the river to hang out or enjoy a meal.
"We will be back."
This is our 2nd time to stay here, check in is a breeze, employees actually care, housekeeping was great. Due to COVID-19, no breakfast but that is understandable. On our previous stay, breakfast was made fresh and hot.
"A little gem in Red River."
This property is a nice little gem in Red River. My friend and I booked this room to stay after 3 days and 2 nights hiking the Wheeler Wildnerness. Due to COVID restrictions, there was no access to the lobby for check-in or breakfast served, but the gentleman met us at the make-shift check-in window. He was courteous and considerate. We had a room on the backside of the hotel, bottom floor, that faced the Red River that ran literally only 50 yards from the deck of our room. We enjoyed watching fly fisherman fish from our deck as each room has it's own patio table and chairs right outside the door. (For those with rooms on the front side of the hotel, there is a generous space with patio tables and fire pits next to the water's edge to have the same luxury.) The room was impeccable and well stocked with not only coffee but bottles of water. We used the laundry facilities and they were also clean. We didn't use them but there are grills available for all guests. It is a close walk to the downtown area as well. I would definitely recommend this hotel or stay here again.
"Great location by river"
Enjoyed a river side room which was clean and well appointed. Grocery, restaurants, and shops within a few blocks. Nice walking trail across river begins right beside the ski lift. Lots of seating outside the rooms on the river side and also along the river. Because of Covid 19 they were not offering breakfast. We were surprised they were not offering even a bag breakfast like other hotels are providing. The tables and chairs by the river were a great place to picnic. Air conditioning and wifi worked well and furnishings in the room were very nice. The room had a microwave and a small refrigerator with a separate freezer which was very nice.
"not a bad place"
We were there from a Monday to a Wednesday. Never got maid service, so the trash piled up in our room( since we had to take our food from the resturaunts to our room to eat)no free brakfast or grab n go food. The bed is very firm to sleep on, the shower was oh so nice( lots of HOT water). My husband used the hot tub and he stated it gives a different meaning to hot tub, so I guess that was good. The view of the river was very nice. I got charged more than what the reservation had stated about 1 dollar more. We had trouble getting a receipt( they like to email you it).It was a very enjoyable time while in Red River even with the virus restrictions
"Location, Loaction, Location"
It's the only place in town where you can walk to the lift and get hotel points for your stay. Closest to the grocery store and dinner locations. Mike (front desk) is a great host and makes the evenings entertaining after a day on the slopes.
"Perfect Spot in Red River"
I actually booked this hotel by accident. We were talking about skiing Taos and somehow, the travel site I was using brought up the Best Western Rivers Edge. I'm really thankful for the glitch because we loved the hotel and Red River. We showed up a little early, but they were able to get us into a room right away. I didn't pay for anything special, but I was super excited to have a room facing the river. Even when it was -7 outside, it was still nice to look out to that beautiful view. You also don't realize from pictures and maps just how close everything is until you're there. So, I was really pleasantly surprised how close we were to the lift house and the platinum chair. We've stayed ski in/ski out before in other ski towns, but this was the best location distance-wise we've ever had for ski lodging. It's also pretty convenient to other spots in Red River. We arrived on Super Bowl Sunday and it was a really quick walk to the brewery. The rooms themselves were nice, decent amount of space, and comfortable. My only complaint...and it's small...was that there were some old candy wrappers from a previous guest that were behind the nightstand between the two beds. I probably wouldn't have even noticed them had one of my kids not dropped something back there. Beyond that, the breakfast each morning was great. I've seen waffles plenty of places, but the eggs made to order is a really nice touch. It was a nice and cozy setting in the lobby for breakfast, which led to us getting to know a number of the other guests. It was great because we'd see people while skiing or dining out that we'd met over breakfast, which just added to the great family vibe at the hotel and in the town. Speaking of nice touches, we live in an area that doesn't normally get snow. I prepared as best as I could, but when we got hit with 17" of snow, I wasn't prepared for shoveling out my vehicle and the heavy sheet of ice on my windshield. I'm guessing we're not the only ones, since the hotel has a number of shovels as well as a scraper/brush. We will definitely be back!
"Ya its pretty amazing"
I am frankly shocked how incredible this place was. Forget that it is built on the river and 20 yards from the Lift House. It is incredibly clean and simply beautiful. The staff was great its a must stay. Its the single best stay ive had in my 20 years of visiting Red River.
"GREAT PLACE TO STAY IN RED RIVER"
Clean and updated rooms with easy access to the rooms. This hotel offers a great breakfast, with made to order eggs and waffles. Wonderful view - with an enjoyable hot tub. Close to the ski lifts and eating establishments. Great everything - have been staying here for many years.
"Convenience, value & friendly"
Friendly staff, conveniently close to main ski lift, clean room, free breakfast (eggs, bacon, toast, cereal, muffins), instant hot water, great shower water pressure, all at a good price = value stay.
"Quick Ski Trip"
The Best Western Rivers Edge is one of our favorite family destinations. We have been coming here annually for the last 15 years. The location next to the ski lift and great restaurants is a definite plus. Mike and Courtney are the best Hosts that you could wish for. The free made to order breakfast is wonderful. This property will continue to be a favorite destination for us.
"Ski trip fun!"
We arrived on New years Day and stayed 4 nights to enjoy the snow skiing experience in Red River NM. Nice room, tv channels were great, breakfast was fresh and delicious, staff was amazing! Location near chair lift was awesome. Great Italian restaurant across street.
"Awesome..!"
It's the best location in town. Everything is within walking distance very clean hotel with the best breakfast which is actually made to order. Staff is amazing and mike patel(PM) does an amazing job and makes sure everyone is taken care of equally. Thank ü for the great stay and we will be back soon.
"Unexpected level of service"
My husband and I stayed here 4 nights for opening weekend over Thanksgiving. We found it through the Bring Fido website as we needed a place that accepted our two dogs. The location was ideal. We were pleasantly surprised to find that breakfast-- with eggs and waffles cooked to order-- was included in the rate. Very friendly staff. Would stay again and recommend to others without hesitation.
"Best Western Rivers Edge"
Great location. 60 seconds away from the ski lift. Friendly staff and very helpful. Wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in red river. Within walking distance from all of the restaurants in town and right across the street from the grocery store.
"Nice hotel"
This hotel is clean and breakfast is decent. It is close to the ski lifts and main attractions. The rooms are comfortable and all around a nice place to stay. There is a creek that runs behind the hotel with various wildlife. Very serene. I would definitely stay again.
"Really nice place."
My only concern is the room I stayed in was a little on the small side but certainly adequate. Breakfast is cooked to order. Everything in the room worked perfectly. Lounge is nice also. The decor was very nice. You can't go wrong here.
"Truly at the River's edge."
The river was charming and the waterfall and quacking of ducks was lovely. There were approximately 12 ducks greeting us in the morning. The rooms was convenient to restaurants and parking was close to the room.
"Everything great except..."
Like most other reviews we found a lot to like about this hotel: great location, great staff (Mike!), nice made to order breakfast, etc. However, there are a couple of areas that could stand improvement: the breakfast area is pretty small and cramped and, more importantly, this hotel needs a larger boiler for hot water. We had two rooms with four travelers and three out of the four did not have hot water for their showers. That's just unacceptable. Unless and until this is addressed, I suggest taking an early shower (say 7ish) or finding another hotel that does have hot water consistently.
"Best hotel waffles ever"
Motel style since ski resort town. Manager Mike did made to order eggs and waffles. I asked about the waffles since best I ever had at a hotel. He said he makes the waffle batter from scratch rather than using a commercial mix. Very nice staff at this hotel.
"Great location"
What a pleasant little hotel this is. Red River is a great little town and this old fashioned timber lodge style building had a lovely spot right on the river. The riverside rooms all have views and there is seating outside where we enjoyed watching the deer just feet away. The manager came out to light the fire pit so guests could enjoy an evening on the riverbank. Such a comfortable bed and lovely fluffy pillows but this hotel has the noisiest water system I have ever heard! Any time anyone had a bath it sounded like a jet taking off!
"Centrally located, river access and home cooked breakfast!"
We stayed at this property for a music fest and it met all of our expectations. The room was large and well appointed with microwave and fridge. The home made cooked breakfast was a special treat. River access and the trail along the river was perfect. We saw deer, and 2 fawns, many birds, and fishermen pulling the trout out of the river. It was a serene setting, both the hotel and the town. We hope to return.
"Second Visit"
Stayed here several years ago; back again recently for 4 nights. It's a great location by the Red River and it was good to see Mike again. We scheduled our 3 week road trip from Florida to be sure when at Red River we'd be staying here.
"Bad bed !!"
Bed wasn't level, the head was lower than my feet, had to try to sleep with my head at the foot of the bed. Needless to say I didn't sleep very well on this bed ! The cleaning person wouldn't pick up dirty towels uness they were on the floor.
"Most enjoyable stay."
Nice clean place. The reception from Mike was most welcoming. Mike made you feel you have been friends forever. Rooms were lovely and exceptionally clean. Beds slept heavenly. The morning breakfast was prepared by Mike. He fixes the a breakfast fit for a King and Queen! It was delicious! I highly recommend staying at this Best Western! We will definitely be back to stay.
"Trip to Best Western Riverside in Red River, NM"
Awesome stay at this hotel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Loved the fact that the hotel has a creek running behind it. It also has the ski lift right there too and u can watch the ski lift chairs go up and down while u r relaxing at the table and chairs by the creek or the others right outside ur room. The hotel is very convenient to everywhere. Very relaxing place to stay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Excellent Hotel"
Great location right in the middle of town, very nice rooms, and an excellent made-to-order complimentary hot breakfast! Ski lift right outside the door. Will definitely be staying here again in the future!
"LOVED MY STAY"
Everyone was nice and everything was clean. My view was of the Red River and waking up to the sound of birds and the river was the best thing ever. So calming and relaxing. Definitely coming back!!!!!
"Red River"
Stayed at the Red River Best Western, and was really happy with this property. The breakfast was ok . Can't really complain since it was free. The property was very clean and in good condition. Beds were awesome!
"Great location and view"
We only stayed one night but if ever in the area I would stay again. What I really liked it was right there by the river! Instead of fighting the crowds at dinner we walked to the grocery and picked up some items and a bottle of wine and sat outside and enjoyed the river and birds. It was so relaxing just to sit and watch a few people fish. As we were going in they came out and started a fire in the pit. If we had not been so worn out we would have stayed and enjoyed that also. Breakfast was great as we had eggs to order! Can't ask for anything more than that. I would highly recommend Rivers Edge.
"Very Nice! Only a few minor shortcomings"
I agree with almost all the good, positive reviews about this place, so I won't repeat them all here. Yes, terrific location, great staff, etc, I'm mentioning a couple of things that we experienced on this our third visit as a slight mar on the place's near perfection. First, although it is well-maintained, it is an older building, so, for example, the walls are thin and the plumbing use noises are loud. The bathrooms are not large. When the door is open, entrance and exits are largely blocked. There is not a spacious eating area in the small lobby. (Yes the staff does an excellent job of providing breakfasts). The remote on our very large, 1080 dpi TV did not work well. I was told it would work better if I did not point it directly at the TV. That helped...some There is only one, just a single, handicapped parking space in front of the building. The wall AC in our room was very noisy. That's all the minor gripes I can think of now.
"What a fine place to stay in Red River NM"
Best Western Riverside was a great place. Mike the manager did a fine job orchestrating all of the office, lobby, and brkfst activities. A great "people person". As a manager myself I can attest this place is run very well. Accomodations, outside seating area, gas grill, hot tub, fireplace-on-the-river for all guests makes this place a highly recommended. I don't normally spend the time to do these surveys. Terry K.
"Amazing!!!! What else can I say!"
Our experience here was amazing. From the property itself to the amazing staff!! This is a pet friendly environment which if you are a pet owner this is huge. We booked online not knowing anything about the area. Even in booking the staff was great. Very helpful and friendly.
"Family ski trip"
This a perfect location for skiing in and skiing out. The breakfast is great and a fun way in how it is done. The staff is great. Rooms are spacious and neat. You can walk to wherever you need to good. The river in front of the hotel is so tranquil. Best choice for our large group.
"Great place to stay in Red River"
This was a yearly vacation with my son and grandchildren. It was the last 2 days of a 2 week trip and our favorite hotel experience. Thev9 and 10 yr old loved it and want to come back and stay longer. Great room, complimentary breakfast, beautiful view of the river, excellent service and amenities
"Red river trip 2019"
Just returned to Garland from our stay in Red River NM. The stay at the Beat Western Rivers edge was outstanding. The staff was very accommodating. Mike the owner was especially nice and attentive to our needs. The rooms were clean. What's great about this place is that it's truly on the rivers edge. Each morning and evening we would sit outside and listen to the river flow. Its convenient walk to everything in town. We will definitely return and next time with our two pups as it is dog friendly. Thanks Mike and Wesley for a great time and a great ready to made breakfast every morning!
"Where do I start..."
We originally planned on staying here for 1 night on our way to Colorado Springs, but once we got here we decided we didn't want to leave so we cancelled our CO Springs reservation and extended our stay at Rivers Edge. You'll understand if you ever go. The location of the property, the staff (especially Mike - Axe ‘em Jacks!), and the weather! We started talking about moving there after just one day! The evening bonfire by the river and the made-to-order hot breakfast sets this property apart from the others. We want to visit once the powder starts falling, but this will definitely become a yearly stop for us!
"Wonderful stay"
We stayed here for one night with our dog.; The hotel doesn't look like much on the outside, but the room was clean, large and right along the river. The breakfast was great and included made to order eggs. Small dining area. The only drawback is that they have wooden planks to walk on leading to the rooms and this can be quite noisy when you are trying to sleep. But, I understand this is done for safety reasons. It is conveniently located right downtown and walking distance to many restaurants. Would definitely recommend.
"Best Rooms In Red River"
I have tried every place in Red River of the last 2 years and this is by far the best in town. There hospitality is incredible and something you don't get much anymore. And we were checked in and in are room in less than five minutes.
"Great Hotel!!!"
We stayed here last summer and they were more than accommodating with our pets. We will definitely stay here again. Nice view of the river behind the hotel. Great owners and managers. Clean, spacious rooms and nice continental breakfast.
"Excellent Accomodations"
This motel was exceptional from top to bottom! Rooms were very clean, modern and roomy. Comforable beds. Excellent made to order breakfast. A river runs along the backside of the property. Off the main road, this place was quiet. Easy check in and staff was great! I would stay here again. And they allow pets which is always a plus with me. Within walking distance to several eating establishments. Could use a little more curbside parking. Appreciated the outside access.
"Great place to go and relax in Red River, NM"
We go to Red River at least once a year and always choose to stay at the Best Western. The hotel sits right along the river and offers gorgeous views. We travel with our 2 dogs who are always welcomed guests as well. The staff is always very accomodating and helpful. Highly recommend.
"Peaceful stay in our room overlookiing the snowmelt swollen Red River."
Off season was quiet and beautiful. Early spring with big patches of snow remaining in the mountains. Staff friendly and accommodating. Room clean and the sound of the river singing us to sleep. Every day a healthy breakfast and great coffee. Thank you Mike. You and your staff are the best!
"Very good accomodations"
In this city of motels, hotels, cabins, and condos this motel is my favorite. Not themed for the city but is most modern motel here. Large , clean rooms and good free breakfast make this my favorite in Red River. Close to ski lift and other activities on the rivers edge. This may be the only motel in town that offers air conditioning. Of course in this high mountain valley most days don't need air conditioning but it is also been known to be warm at night. May be a little pricey but many accomodations in this town are, depending on the season. I recommend this motel in Red River
"Yearly Stay!!"
This is our annual Spring Break trip and can't imagine staying anywhere else! Everyone is so friendly, easy access to lift, yummy breakfast everyday and we enjoy the fellowship with the hotel guest and local people. Our room is comfortable and accommodating for our family. We already booked for next year! So has two of our friends - who were impressed with the Lodge!
"Outstanding location"
The location here is outstanding. It is just a few steps from the Platinum Chairlift. Across the street is the Red River Brewery (great food and beer), a grocery store and the Lifthouse Bar and Restaurant. Many other establishments are within walking distance, too. There is plenty of parking.... a big plus as Red River parking can be an issue, especially when a lot of snow covers the roadways. The room was comfortable, well appointed and everything worked. We were on the second floor. Rooms open to the the outside so beware that folks walking along the wooden walkway can create a bit of noise in the morning which can effect your early morning sleep quality. We visited during Spring Break and only stayed one night......Best Western did not have a minimum stay requirement while many of the "mom and pop" locations had a 3 night minimum. The afternoon clerk manning the front desk was outstanding. The provided breakfast consists of "made to order eggs". The staffer doing the cooking had to cook, man the desk and answer the phone. This created a bit of a wait for eggs in the morning when everyone seems to descend on breakfast at the same time trying to get to the lifts when they open. (They need to hire him some help!)
"Slopes are literally right outside the hotel."
Great, convenient location located steps away from the slopes. Hot, made to order (e.g., eggs, bacon, waffles) breakfast items and continental (e.g., fruit, oatmeal, cereal, etc.) breakfast items ensured everyone found something they liked!
"Still great!"
Cannot recommend this hotel enough...it is the best hotel in Red River. The location is perfect, rooms are clean and comfy, staff is excellent, and they serve an awesome made to order breakfast. Everything about it is top notch and we'll never stay anywhere but here when we come to Red River.
"Best Place in Red River"
Best place to stay in Red River, staff at this hotel are very friendly and attentive, literally 30 steps from the ski lifts. Location is perfect all stores and restaurants are within walking distance to this property
"Love Red River"
Best Western is so easy to deal with and close to everything. Friendly and helpful staff make your stay even better. Love watching the ducks and skiers right out our window. We tell friends to stay here all the time!
"Best motel ever!!!"
This Best Western is our favorite location ever! We have stayed here many, many times and have always had excellent service, excellent breakfasts that are made just for you, and everything is done with a smile. The rooms are always clean and neat, and the view of the river and ski slopes is justbeautiful. You will love staying here!
"Great stay in Red River"
Courtney & Mike were amazing. Treated us like family!!! They were helpful with anything we needed. The rooms were very clean and the temperature was perfect!! Mark cooked great breakfast made to order. Can not recommend this place enough!!
"Red River Best Weatern"
This is a Nice hotel next to the platinum lift and not too far from the main chalet. One block off of the main road and easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. This was a return visit for me. Both times the rooms have been nice and the free breakfast is good.
"Great room, great value"
Enjoyed our stay at the Best Western in Red River, NM. Quiet, clean, nice sized room and great coffee:) My son used the internet to watch Netflix and had no problems streaming. Great location, easily within walking distance of the ski lodge.
"Best place to stay in Red River!"
From the minute I arrived at B.W. Red River Mike and the staff made me and my family feel right at home! I have never enjoyed my stay anywhere as much as I did here. As for the location it couldn't get any closer to the mountain. It was literally not even 100ft to a chairlift that takes you to the top of the mountain. There is also a nice little river that runs right behind the hotel that my boys enjoyed going to. The staff was always helpful to all the guest and I would highly recommend staying here to anyone!!
"Great location"
Perfect location to the resort. Walking distance to the Platinum lift. Great breakfast. Room was clean. The staff was friendly and very helpful. They have rooms with a full kitchen and bunk beds for the kids. A river runs behind the hotel with many ducks. Deer were on the back deck as well
"Paradise in Red River"
We were lucky enough to reserve a room over looking the river on one of the busiest weekends of the season, and we were not disappointed. The staff was very attentive, the breakfast was terrific, and you can not beat the location. I highly recommend this property for future trips to Red River, and I am going to book for January 2020!!
"Best dang stay west of the pecos"
This hotel has many benefits from a unique breakfast to an awesome hottub, but I have to say what brought me here was location location location. I've stayed at many different hotels & condos at redriver NM, but once I found this one I've never looked for something else. It has totally satisfied my needs for a stay at redriver NM. Oh, I don't like to share my great finds because it only makes it hard for me to get a room... You're welcome!
"Best Place In Red River Hands Down"
This is the beat place in Red River hands Down I have stayed in almost every place there and the BW Has my vote by far. The location to the ski area and it's incredible staff just give it the overall edge in my opinion. Also the owner himself was out shoveling and plowing snow in the drive way and walk ways and checking to make sure everyone was having a good stay.
"Red River"
Great location. Near ski area and restaurants within walking distance. Steps away from the Lift House. A block from the park. Nice deck with hot tub and grills, stream runs along in back. Delicious breakfast with made to order eggs, bacon and waffles.
"Great time at the River Edge!"
Well worth the money and so close to the main ski lift of Red River Ski area and just blocks away from the main area of the main drag. Breakfast is first class and Mike and the other FD reps do a great job taking care of all of your needs, including great knowledge of the local area and things to do! Courtney the owner is readily available as well to help with anything that we needed.
"Excellent service."
Micheal at the front desk was super helpful. Gave me a few tips on what to see in town, and was just as friendly outside of the office as he was during business hours. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good. Will stay at this place again.
"Serene"
Everytime we visit Red River we stay at this hotel because the staff is Phenomenal, the rooms are great, it's within walking distance to everything, the breakfast is a huge value, they're dog friendly, the property on the river is so peaceful and you can't beat the rates.

"Wonderful stay"
This is the only hotel I ever consider staying at when I visit Red River. The rooms are extremely clean and gorgeous. The lobby is extremely nice and feels like I'm visiting family during the complimentary breakfast. I can't say enough good things about this hotel and the times I've stayed here.
"Wonderful!!"
We stayed for 5 nights & our experience was fabulous! The staff & owner were amazing. Every morning they cooked breakfast made to order: eggs, bacon, waffles. It was a great meal to start the day. They had self serve breakfast items as well. They were very informative of the area & events that were happening. Our room was nice & always kept clean. The view out of our room was just breathtaking with the Red River flowing through & the snowy mountain sides. The platinum chair lift is right outside the hotel. We will definitely stay here again when we come back. Top notch service & experience. Thanks!!
"+Location and Top Notch Employees - Sound isolation"
We stayed at the hotel as part of a group. The employees were efficient and friendly in handling our group check in, breakfast and checkout. We had a catered dinner in their back yard right on the river. Big fire, tables and chairs and the rushing stream made it very pleasant. The rooms were typical mid price hotel, but had very good beds and bedding, and a refrigerator. The down side is the lack of sound isolation. A modest cough in the next room was easy to diagnose. Not that an older building would have had good sound isolation, but just be sure to bring ear plugs. We lucked out by being on the second floor. The floor creaks must have been an additional nuisance for the people down stairs.
"Awesome Hotel...!!"
This is a small property located in the heart of red river walking distance to everything in town and literally like 40" away from the main chair lift if you r a skier. awesome staff and the breakfast is a big plus as its very good. In short if u r in red river and need lodging this is the Best Place in town.
"Amazing weekend"
Staff is amazing and make the experience wonderful! The town was pretty quiet but it was between seasonal activities so it was a quiet and beautiful get away for the weekend. Definitely eat breakfast and if you have any questions ask Mike and other staff and they are more than willing to help you out!
"Best. one"
My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights. We have stayed here for years when we come to Red River. This is one of the best if not the best accommodations in red river. No kitchen but microwave and fridge. Very clean and comfortable. Stay on the river side for the best view. Breakfast is ok but nothing special.
"A bit disappointing"
This is an older property and rooms are quite small. The worst part during my stay was that the heating (A/C) was quite weak and the room stayed pretty cold while temperatures outside were below freezing. The fridge was pretty noisy which was quite a contrast to the quiet surroundings. Eggs made to order are a nice idea but when you order two eggs sunny side up and they come with bacon that you didn't ask for and don't want because you don't eat meat, it's a bit of a letdown. Is it so hard for some people to think that not everybody eats meat? Also, there is no real breakfast room but just a few chairs and tables in the lobby area so it's not really comfortable. The front desk guy was nice but while nobody was checking in, he was sitting on the sofa in the lobby area with a young woman (his girlfriend?) watching tv (very loud), which just didn't seem very professional to me. Another thing you have to know is that check-out is at 10:00 am, earlier than in most hotels/motels.
"Red River Best Western"
This is the nicest, friendliest, helpful staff I have ever encountered in my travels. There are only 31 rooms in this BW so sometimes its hard to get one. Grounds are lovely backing up to a river, and mountain views. The rooms are spacious, nicely decorated and very clean. There is a riverside patio area with tables, chairs and a firepit. It is also close to stores, restaurants and local watering holes.
"Beautiful views and clean rooms"
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and it was a great little hotel. Best Western has done it again!! The staff is very friendly and everything is very clean. Staff cooks breakfast for the guests as well! 10/10 would stay here again!
"Beautiful and Quiet"
This was a very relaxing stay. Being October, the ski area had not opened yet and the town is very quiet and peaceful. During ski season, it will be a perfect place to stay. It is a 30 second walk to the Face lift!! A big plus is that there is a guy with a griddle preparing eggs made to order. So beautiful!! I will stay here again, hopefully not on business!
"Great Place"
Location is great. Rooms are clean. Beds are comfortable. Extra bonus is the made to order eggs by the crew. The kids feed the deer right off the riverside rooms. Hot tub right on the River was a great way to relax.
"Very Good"
We really enjoyed staying there again. It is such a great place. We have stayed there several time and enjoyed each time. Last time we took my dad and mom, sister, step-son, daughter, husband, and me. All of us really enjoyed it!
"Super place"
This was our first time in Red River. We were totally taken with the hotel. The room was freshly renovated. Breakfast eggs were made to order. We sat by the river and watched the ducks. Very peaceful. We well be back.
bwriversedge, Owner at Best Western Rivers Edge, responded to this review
Glad to hear you had some time to decompress, this is a good time of year for that. I can't tell you how many hours I've spent just watching the ducks, it seems they're always having a good time as well... thank you, Courtney Henderson, owner bestwesternriversedge@hotmail.com 575-754-2388
"Rivers Edge BW"
Wonderful location for a BW. Scenic and by the river with a fire pit out back. Tables and chairs along the river and on the balconies. Easy walkable location to some great restaurants. The Rivers Edge Brewery nearby had good food and great beer and was great fun.
bwriversedge, Owner at Best Western Rivers Edge, responded to this review
We are really pleased with the new Red River Brewing Company - they've only been open for a few months and already they're winning statewide awards for the beer. I'm happy to hear you had a great time, because that's what we're here for! Sincerely, Courtney Henderson, owner bestwesternriversedge@hotmail.com 575-754-2388
"Perfection!!!!"
Our room was on the River side - Gorgeous!! Watching ducks and deer, enjoying the nightly fire in fire pit, relaxing on deck and meeting our "neighbors" at the plentiful tables and chairs provided. We will be back!!
"What A Pleasant Surprise!"
The perfect location and a very pleasant room greeted us in Red River. The King, upstairs, corner room we stayed in was peacefully quiet, with the added bonus of opening out to an idyllic river view from the front window and door. The property is within an easy stroll of the Downtown Red River nightlife, music, and restaurant scene. The linens and bed were top quality and very comfortable. Great water pressure in the shower and tub. Plenty of storage space and an adequate counter top in the vanity area. Free breakfast and coffee in the lobby each morning - and the front desk was manned by a very personable gentleman (Mark?) who was a fountain of information regarding the local attractions and features. What more could you ask for in an inexpensive and refreshing weekend getaway? We will be back, and are very pleased with our stay there.
"Great Hotel"
This hotel is great. Awesome location. Great breakfast. We were very pleased with our room. Loved that we could sit outside by the river. Easy walk to restaurants and attractions. The bed was comfortable
"2 nights in Red River"
Loved staying at the hotel. Walked in to see if they had rooms and was very pleasantly greeted by the manager and he got us a room right away, Decided to stay another night and had no problem with it. Room was very nice, Breakfast was good, Manager made the eggs and bacon for us. Coffee was excellent. Sat out on the deck and enjoyed the views of the ski lift and little river. Easy parking. Very good stay and within walking distance to the town.
"Summer Retreat"
We enjoyed our stay & wish we had planned to stay longer. We had a river front room which we loved having the window open at night to hear the rippling of the water. Sitting around the fire pit with other guests was very nice.....an easy way to make conversation. Breakfast was a delight, being personally fresh cooked eggs, bacon & toast rather than the usual self serve breakfast in other motels. For winter travelers & skiers, the ski lift is right next to this motel. This is on our list of places to return to one day ( & stay longer)
"Great location"
This hotel has the premier location in Red River. You can sit on the porch and watch the ski lift and the ducks swimming by in the brook at the same time. The cook to order breakfast was a real treat while travelling. Will stay here again.
"great place to sleep and use as a launching point"
Rooms clean and comfortable lots of water pressure we where on the river side and had a great view the breakfast the eggs where cooked to order with well cooked bacon great coffee best on the trip its location made it easy to walk to shops and eatery had a nice riverside area and cooking are with gas grills
"Best Western Red River- FANTASTIC STAY"
The amazing staff, the cleanliness of the hotel, the fires by the river, the home style breakfast, make this hotel our number one choice in Red Tiver, NM. We enjoyed our trip so much that we made a reservation for 2019 and look forward to seeing Mike and his team again!!!
"Great Hotel on the River in Red River, NM - PERFECT location to get around town"
We just did a quick getaway to Red River, NM before school starts and the Best Western Rivers Edge was the perfect spot for us. It is on the river with beautiful views of the mountain. Our son (8 1/2) was able to fish on the river in the back of the hotel and the location is ideal - you can walk everywhere - very convenient. The staff was so friendly and helpful - lobby was very inviting. Each morning breakfast is made to order (eggs and waffles.) I highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a place to stay in Red River, New Mexico!!
"Best stay"
For the price I would send all my friends and family here to stay. The river view is really the best. We have stayed there twice now and have been pleased both times. This is the best place for getting to relax.
"Great Hotel Experience"
At first glance the hotel seems unremarkable, but don't judge this book by its cover. The reception was warm, welcoming. and hassle-free. Room was on second floor, but staircase was easily climbed. We were hesitant when we found our room on the street side instead of mountain side, but no choice was available when the room was booked. The street noise was worrisome at first due to very loud go-cart track across street, but after closing room door the sound dissapeared. I've not stayed in a quieter room and the ambiance and decoration were exceptional. Beds were comfortable and linen was high thread count. Mini fridge and mocrowave provided as well as hair dryer, clothes iron and full sized ironing board. Shower provided good pressure and air-conditioner kept the room chilly. Breakfast included cooked to order eggs and waffles as well as cereals and breads. Lastly, access to town was easily walked with ski lift located right next door. All in all an extradoinary experience. I will stay here on my next trip to Red River.
"Best place in town"
Very clean. Great breakfast. Wonderful host. Beautiful view of river. We have stayed here four times. It's a great location. Perfect for our family. We enjoy Red River, and this hotel meets our needs.
"Red River Ext"
We decided to stay am extra day, in RR. Our condo couldn't accommodate us so I chose the BW based on a friends experience. We were not disappointed.Everything was super and on short notice all was a great experience.
"Great place to stay"
Great front desk service checking in and checking out. Room was great. Clean and quiet. The faculty was really nice. Out back there was a sitting area along the river (more like a creek) that had several tables and chairs and a fire pit. Gorgeous setting. The breakfast was great. Fresh eggs and waffles made to order along with your typical continental breakfast items. If we are ever back in the area we will stay here
"Nice place"
If you are planning a quick trip to Red River, this is a great place to stay. It is walking distance from everything around town. It is right on the river which is nice. The rooms are well kept. They offer complimentary breakfast of waffles, bacon, and eggs along with cereals etc.
"Love this place!"
We go to Red River quite often and always try and stay here! Mike at the front desk is great to work with, very friendly and helpful! They have a great breakfast each morning, a great porch on the back facing the river, a grill area so you can cook if you want, and sometimes offer live music in the large sitting area next to the river. My favorite place to go!! Highly recommend!
"Wonderful surprise!"
The room was great— very clean, comfortable bed, clean bath n shower! Made to order breakfast by friendly host! We ate our breakfast by beautiful creek, gorgeous view! I highly recommend! There were tables set up by the creek/river to sit at n relax. It was one of our most memorable breakfasts!
"Still Home away from home!"
I was the last one to write a review! Here I am again. I cannot tell you enough how much we love it here, not just in Red River but at this Best Western. Mike Patel is amazing. The rooms aren't small, aren't huge but room and very comfortable. This is are down time before heading home to Texas after a long vacation! The river right beside the hotel, our room with the windows open falling asleep to the sound of the river! Feeding the ducks. Breakfast is amazing! We eat at several places with Cappos being #1, though this go around we found a nice place called Major Beans! Loved it! We will always be back! Thank you Mike!

We booked two nights for 7/25 & 7/26, Wednesday & Thursday, hoping to use a free night, earned by our Best Western Reward program. After booking, we realized we were charged for both nights. In trying to get it resolved, we called the property directly and were told no rooms were available. ( keep in mind, this is for reservations over a month away and during mid-week) and to contact the 800 “ Rewards” number. We then spoke with a rep at the 800 number who said she would put a note on our reservation to allow the free night and that we would only need to call the property directly to have them see the note & make the adjustment. When we called Rivers Edge, Best Western, in Red River we were told repeatedly that no rooms were available for that night ( even though I had an email confirmation of the ones I had booked and they confirmed they could see them, but insisted nothing was available in which to use our points ) Sadly, after staying here numerous times over the years we will no longer stay here. The rewards program clearly states : “no blackout dates”. Rules using points and free nights should be clear and consistent for each property within the franchise. On another stay, at this property, my husband became ill and we had to check out early, around 8 AM, we explained the situation and they refused to refund the any portion of the price of our second night. Given the circumstances and it being peak travel season, there is no doubt they were able to fill our vacated room. It seems at this property that customer service is non-existent.
"Red River Memorial Day Bike rally"
This is the second year we stayed here...friendly people, great location and VERY clean rooms. They have an outdoor space int he back with a fire pit that overlooks a small stream with a couple of duck who like to be fed. I would recommend staying here is you are planning on visiting Red River, NM.
"Great little hotel on the river!"
Very pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Absolutely beautiful location along the river, great staff, and clean, comfy rooms. Eggs cooked to order with morning breakfast is a nice touch. Convenient to everything in town. I would highly recommend this place!
"Goff Family"
Really great hotel. All the staff was so friendly and helpful. Very clean rooms and outside area was spectacular . The breakfast was GREAT! Late night, we sat in the back near the river and had a fire going.
"Nice view by the river water. Clean & comfy bed. Good location."
I would stay here again. Friendly employees and a hot breakfast option. We wanted a king size bed, but none were available. The queen worked out ok and was a comfortable bed. The best thing is the location - the back side is by the water and very near the ski lift. Nice to sit by the river water on their patio chairs, see the ducks and fish, hike, and just relax. We stayed three nights and enjoyed our vacation.
"(Pam and Larry)The greatest staff. Mike you are an Amazing Manager! Bacon!!!!"
Best area to view wildlife. Deer, otters and some saw bobcats! Many great restaurants close by. Has nice outdoor furniture so you can enjoy it. Rooms are well cleaned and the breakfast in the morning includes Eggs to order, Fresh Waffles and Bacon the best i have ever had and i travel a lot. Overall would highly recommend staying at this property.
"Amazing Staff & Excellent stay..!!"
This is a very unique hotel in the heart of Red River NM. Excellent location, Rooms are very well appointed and the breakfast in the morning includes Eggs to order, Fresh Waffles and Bacon the best i have ever had and i travel a lot. Overall would highly recommend staying at this property.
"Beautiful, peaceful place along the river."
Our favorite place to stay in Red River sits along the river and has nice outdoor furniture so you can enjoy it. The staff is very helpful and kind. The rooms are just average but the location is great. It's only a block to the grocery store, park, and great eating places.
"Super fantastic place to stay"
Efficient and friendly staff. Conveniently located on river and next to ski lift and within walking distance to restaurants. This is a super clean property with well-appointed room décor. This is the nicest Best Western we have stayed in!
"Relax in style"
We have stayed at this location in Red River, NM many times and have always enjoyed it! Right on the river with a great sitting area to enjoy the river, wildlife, and fire pit (weather permitting). Breakfast is included, too!
"Best Western Red River, NM"
We were so tired when we reached Red River. I was not aware that there was a Best Western there. When I spotted it, I was overjoyed. The check-in was quick. Our room was beautiful with a distinctive Southwest flair. It was just such a treat. We would definitely stay there again.
"Great place to stay!"
If you are in the Red River area and need a place to stay, do not pass this place up. The scenery is perfect and the service is great. The staff makes you feel like it is your second home. The Breakfast is very good. I can;t give enough praise to these guys! My favorite Hotel out there!
bwriversedge, Owner at Best Western Rivers Edge, responded to this review
Thank you, especially for noting the scenery, I've been putting some work into that - and we hope to see you again soon... Sincerely, Courtney Henderson, owner/GM 575-754-2388 bestwesternriversedge@hotmail.com
"Nice hotel, perfect location, cool staff. Paul from Houston"
This hotel perched on a little river, just a stone's throw from the chair lift with a crew of hardworking, efficient staff led by Mark and Kathleen was such a deal... I almost want to keep the news to myself for fear of drawing large crowds. Really good service. Will be our 'go to ' winter resort for years to come.
"Perfect Place"
I was super impressed with this hotel. I personally don't think there is a better hotel in Red River. First, the room was perfect. Clean and well stocked. Breakfast was over the top!!! The grounds are picturesque. Everything you would want or need is within walking distance. The staff were great.
"Best Best Western"
Very clean, comfy beds - right in the middle of town. Mike was great at check in - cant say the same for fellow that cooked our eggs- having a bad morning? No matter great motel right on the river. Would stay here again
"Great location to ski Red River"
Location next to Lifthouse can't be beat for skiing intermediate and above ski runs at Red River. Eggs cooked to order for breakfast along with other breakfast items makes for a good start every morning. Only drawback can be if other guests are noisy - due to wood construction of the hotel it can interfere with sleeping in.
"Christmas in New Mexico"
Our family continued our Christmas vacation going from Kansas, Colorado to New Mexico. What we found was very warm welcoming people and enjoyment atmosphere that we would recommend and plan on going again. Mike who is the GM, was very accommodating and give him a thumbs up, five star rating ??. Mike when you read this, we hope to see you again soon. Thank you for the great experience that you provided us there in New Mexico.
"In the middle of it all"
We enjoyed our stay here in Red River at the hotel. Mike is a great GM. And all the other employees that work there are all good people. They all aim to please. Courtney his wife Sydney( the owners) treat you like family. They get up early in the morning and cook you up a good breakfast. Get eggs anyway you want them. Mike's got a great group of ski Buddies. They were fun to hang out with. Can't wait to get back there from Houston. "Southern Comfort"
"Amazing Hotel"
This is the best hotel. We wont stay anywhere else in Red River. We wont ski anywhere else. This is the best hotel. I wish every owner and manager were this kind, caring and understanding. We go here every year. It is so much fun just to stay in the hotel lobby. You meet new friends every year just in the hotel lobby. Its the next best thing to ski in ski out. They take exception care of you. Mike is the best manager, so helpful and so nice. The housekeeping staff are wonderful also. Mark and Cocoa are super also. Courtney the owner, is amazing. You hardly ever meet the owners of an establishment. Its just amazing. This was our 8th year. We cant wait to go back next year.
"Great place to stay for skiing"
There are two floors to this hotel, but no elevators. The breakfast area is small, but very clean and nice. The staff was very polite and accommodating. Will stay here again if we return to Red River! Closely located to Red River Ski.
"Great Ski Trip"
We really enjoyed our stay! It is a pet friendly hotel that was very close to the ski area! The room was great and my daughter and I enjoyed soaking after a long day in the hot tub. The staff is super friendly!
"Best place to stay in Red River "
We went during the New Year and for our daughters to go skiing. The hotel was steps from the platinum left and close to the main chalet. The attention was magnificent and so was the view, you could see the river in the back. The breakfast was delicious and we all loved staying there. The manager, Mike, was also very helpful with giving us suggestions on where to go and on places to eat. He was very courteous.
"Best Place to Stay"
Best Place to stay in Red River. Great Location! Wonderful Staff! The rooms are always clean. They made us feel like family, including our dog. It is the only place we like to stay in Red River. It is right next to the slopes and in walking distances of all the town!
"Great place to stay"
We were pleasantly surprised at the location of this hotel. It had a deck outside our room with table and chairs where you could enjoy your coffee and watch skiers go up the lift where you could hear the babbling brook at the edge of the property. In the evenings a fire would be lit in the firepit with chairs surrounding it to enjoy the outdoors. Pet friendly, great location to activities.
"Relaxation is the name of this game"
My wife and I just want to get away for few days to relax and the Best Western in Red River, NM is where it is at. Located at 8,600 feet above sea lever in northern NM, is the very friendly town of Red River. The Best Western is in a perfect location to walk the town. The day started with a great breakfast that included eggs to order and fresh waffles in the hotel and ended in a comfortable bed with all the amenities one could want. Thanks everyone.
"Excellent Stay"
Excellent customer service, they are always very helpful. Check in is quick Check out is quicker. Breakfast on point. Made to order. Rewards members are treated like Royalty. Amenities are great. Pets are allowed, we didn't take one but they provide it. If needed.
"Actual visit was October 2016/ A girl and her dog trip"
I originally rented a cabin on the river at the edge of town and stayed there one night (barely slept- on the couch) before calling Best Western to see if they had a room. (The cabin was dirty and horrible- another story). I was marginally happy as I really wanted a cabin, but I was able to bring my dog with me, so I took the room and moved down into town. I am so happy I did; great customer service, friendly staff and clean rooms. I was lucky enough to get a room facing the river and right by the fire pit. Just me and my dog, and the staff was helpful in pointing me in the right direction for hiking trail for us, places to eat and shops that were open. I was there after the summer peeps and before the skiers, so the town was virtually empty. The hotel had workers from the mining of the mountain and a few stray travelers. The fire pit was a great place to hang out and relax and I met some very nice people. The breakfast in the mornings was great. The location is excellent- I was able to walk all through the small town. I prefer to stay in regional/local lodgings vs a chain hotel when I am somewhere like Red River especially, but this was a great experience and perfect for me and my travel pup. Great vacation, thanks to Best Western's staff and excellent lodging. 10/10! Thank you!!
"Really Awesome Hotel"
Every time I go to Red River, NM, I choose to stay at this hotel! My grandparents love staying here, and when my husband and I decided to take a last minute weekend getaway trip, we decided to stay again. We were happy to see that the hotel is still a great place to stay! We love that they make waffles and eggs for their guests in the morning and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The views are also great from the second floor of the hotel and on either floor on the river-side. We will definitely return to this hotel the next time we decide to go to Red River.
"Great Little Find in Red River, NM"
Stayed at this Best Western on a cross country trip in October 2017 and had a great experience. Clean and well-appointed room with small table outside on a deck overlooking a fire-pit area and river very close to the hotel. Staff was very friendly and accommodating from check in to our request for late checkout. Mike (night manager?) lit the fire at dusk and we cooked marshmallows with our daughter and met other visitors. Mark (day manager?) cooked tasty eggs, bacon, and waffles for breakfast (noticed that some other comments suggested the breakfast wasn't that good ... please know that you can salt and pepper them to your taste) and there is ample coffee, fruits, yogurt, toast, etc. There is also a very enjoyable pizza place (Capos) right across the street. To top it all off, a deer with 2 fawn strolled by the deck and into the river about an hour before dusk ... Great place for family and pets are welcome. We will be back again.
"A great stay"
My wife enjoyed the location, stay, and hotel. We had a great time. will probably return someday. We landed in Red River after visiting Sante Fe and Taos. A nice drive thru the mountains and a very quiet little village. Thanks Mike!!
"Wonderful Setting"
I know it's a Best Western but here you are on a fantastic wooden deck, beautiful mountain stream rolling by 20 yards behind with some ducks milling around. The Aspen trees are just changing colors, the air is a little crisp and there is a fireplace going in the yard between the deck and the stream. What's not to love. I wish we could have stayed longer. Not only that but in the morning, we had a very friendly gentleman cook us a breakfast, just how we liked it.
"Always a Pleasant Experience"
We always stay at this hotel when we visit Red River & again this year we enjoyed the experience.. Courtney, Mike, Mark & Kat are friendly, accommodating & genuinely want their guests to feel welcome & comfortable. We love sitting on the deck outside our room enjoying the relaxing atmosphere of the river. Breakfast is always good thanks to Mark & Mike & our room is clean thanks to Kat. We look forward to our next visit to Red River & to staying at one of our favorite hotels .
"Good"
Good staff with caring attitude. They went out of their way to be helpful showing good communication skills. We enjoyed our time relaxing by the flowing mountain stream. Excellent place to visit for those that enjoy mountain scenes and hiking.
"Wonderful get away "
This was a wonderful place that was right by the river. They made breakfast every morning. Eggs and bacon and waffles. Also we could make toast or bagels or cereal. Great people there. Very nice and clean place. The only thing that I would have liked for them to have is a safe for the rooms. I would highly recommend and would definitely stay there again.
"Marvelous time!"
My husband and I recently spent 4 nights here in a very comfortable upgraded room overlooking the burbling Red River. Mike Patel was a delightful host. The breakfasts were delicious, hot and made to order.
"Great Little Hotel in the Mountains"
I stayed there the first week in October for 6 nights. Very, very nice comfortable place to stay right on the Red River. It is also next to the ski lifts. Mike the manager is a super nice person and went the extra mile to make sure everything was perfect for my stay. You get cooked to order breakfast every morning which was very good and free! House keeping, front desk and all the staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a hot tub there as well as a fire pit out back on the river bank. Deer come down from the mountain and will eat out of your hand. I will stay there again!
"Another amazing stay!"
There is no other place i would stay in Red River! The staff takes care of you like family. The rooms are pretty and the beds and pillows are amazing! It is right on the river with a small waterfall that is so relaxing to sit by. The breakfast is made to order each morning and included in the price of your stay. There is an awesome trail right across the river to hike, and the ski lift is in walking distance. It is great for all types of travelers, families, friends, couples, business, or solo. You will not find a better place to stay.
"This is the Four Seasons Resort of Best Westerns!"
I am not a motel girl. Four Seasons is more my style. But there isn't one in Red River so Trip Advisor said the best place was this Best Western Red River. And were they ever right! We had a spotless room right on the Red River. They have a fire pit right on the river where we say and met fun people. Walked across the street to an Italian restaurant that was fairly good and then back to the hotel where there was a group having a wonderful time in the lobby. The owner, Courtney and the manager, Mike were there as well. What terrific, generous people. They treated us like family. We were stunned by there kindness and generosity toward us. The bed was very, very comfortable. Only wish: that they had a King bed and a sitting room. Otherwise it was just wonderful. We will return!
"We like it!"
Stayed here one night recently. Very clean and comfortable & right by the river. Beds were great & the towels were nice & fluffy. Mike was on duty & I can't say enough about his ability to multi task. Check in was easy & our breakfast was made to order. He manned the kitchen like a pro, in spite of having a room full of hungry people he, never missed a beat on what each person ordered. We will stay here again for sure.
"Charming place!"
Loved this hotel. Staff was great, very helpful. Cooked to order breakfast was wonderful and handled very efficiently by cook. The location in Red River is close to everything and would be perfect in ski season as it is only steps from a chairlift. Room decor was rustic, charming and perfect for the hotel's location. Very comfortable.
"The Only Place to Stay in Red River!"
We will only stay at the Best Western when visiting Red River. It's the perfect location and the staff is always so nice and helpful...especially Mike and Kat. THANK YOU for allowing our two well behaved dogs!
"Awesome!"
Great hotel! Very clean and comfortable! Beautiful view! The breakfast is fantastic! The staff is very helpful. We love it! Mike, the manager, goes out of his way to help you! He is awesome! Highly recommend this hotel!
"Top Hotel in Red River"
Extremely clean!! Mike went beyond checking us in by helping us clean our car which had been sprayed by oil traveling from CO. He also served a cooked to order fresh eggs, bacon, and waffle the next morning. The room was huge and it overlooked the river. Clean!! Towels were fluffy and looked new. Wonderful! You will NOT be disappointed. I would give this hotel more stars if I could.
"Great Location!"
We were lead to this place by all of the great reviews. We have been to Red River alot but have never stayed here. Not any more!! This place is well run and staffed. The room was clean and comfortable. They had a nightly fire in the outside firepit and cooked to order eggs for breakfast!! Mark and Kathleen were great staff.
"Always a great choice!"
Mike was awesome and made sure my stay was enjoyable. This is a great location, right on the river, and one of my favorite pastimes was simply sitting on the balcony and listening to and watching the river run by. One of my favorite choices when visiting the area!
"Great relaxing place to stay"
Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast made to order. Outdoor amenities were wonderful. Out door tables and chairs at each room and along the river. Gas BBQ's available and a fire pit was very restful in the evening. Bring your fly rod as trout were being caught - 8-12 inches. Great stay. We'll go back - this time with our fly rods!
"Great in Red River, NM"
Overall, great choice for lodging. The "free breakfast" was exceptional, with staff making waffles, eggs to order, toast, bacon and sausage when you come in for breakfast. Of course, other selections were also available. The room was clean, neat, and had all the amenities you would need. Location with the Red River only steps outside our door was great, with fire pit and seating on river's edge for fun on cool evenings. Staff prepared a big fire for us each night. Fun to watch the ducks swimming along the river and coming ashore to "visit".
"Pleasant Stay"
Drove to Red River for several days of relaxation and pleasure. BW provided a most pleasant stay with all members of the staff presenting in a most professional but friendly manner, helpful, informative, kind.
"Would recommend"
Overall the motel met our needs. It was clean and simple. Unfortunately, the bed was not the most comfortable. My husband likes breakfast so he appreciated having staff prepare eggs at his request along with the other breakfast options. It was quiet. Very conveniently located.
"Great place; friendly staff"
My husband and I rented this place to stay for one night until the rest of our party arrived in Red River. This place was a surprising gem and I wish would could stay longer. Breakfast with Mike was awesome with made to order eggs and waffles! When I checked in, the man at the desk was friendly and speedy. Stay here. You'll love it.
"Yes. Stay here."
We had not planned to visiting Red River, but found ourselves here anyway. This was the only place available with rooms. The staff was very friendly, the service exceptional and the rooms quiet and comfortable. We had a river view room and enjoyed sitting out by the river on our "balcony". It's located right next to a ski lift, so if you are coming for winter skiing, you won't find a closer location. I would certainly stay here again.
"Book Now!!!!"
I'm so glad on my last trip in August, I decided to book for the multiple trips, I've planned to Red River in advance. It is tough enough booking travel or even driving from Austin. But I know once I reach my destination this winter ski season, I will be in the best location in the whole ski valley. I look forward to catching up with the locals and season pass holders that frequent the BW lobby for a drink and to discuss the thrills the Mt provided to them for the day. After some cocktails and a dip in the hot tub, it's off to a clean, comfortable bed and hit the reset button. Wake up to a hot breakfast and a 30 second walk to the lift and start your day. Miss my BW family and see you soon. Don't forget to book now for your winter and spring fun. Love ya Bert
"Red River stay"
Love the firepit. Came in later about 8 pm went tol a restaurant that was supposed to be open till 830. They told us they had already closed. Couldn't find anything else along main street. Finally noticed a pizza joint of main road. Supposed to be open till 9. Walked in She said that she thought they were closing up the kitchen. They did make our pizza, I think because someone called in an order at same time. SO if you come in later, don't come in hungry.
"Relaxing"
First time to stay at Rivers edge and we loved it. We requested a river view room and even though we checked in early they were able to give us the requested room. Room was very comfortable, we were able to leave the window open ,smell the fresh air and hear the river. We sat by the fire pit in the evening just enjoying the peaceful quiet. We even saw a couple of deer. The manager was very nice and we had a made to order breakfast in the morning. We only stayed one night but will definitely stay here for a longer visit next time.
"Nice, but not the most kid friendly "
Beautiful hotel. Rooms nice and comfortable. Breakfast was great! Loved the river access! However, as other reviews have said, walls are quite thin, and other guest can be heard. (Walking, talking, loud sneezing were our experiences). I totally expect this for the age and style of the building, but this can cause issues for families with small kids. Staff came to our door at 6pm to notify us the people below us had complained about our kids (super nice and professional about it). My sons had only been in the room for the last 30 mins. Before that it was only me and our crying 3mo daughter. I was a little shocked by this- 1. We travel A LOT and have never had any issues. And 2. They had only been in the room since 5:30, and half of that time they were eating seated at the table. I guess maybe the crying baby was a bother as well? I spent the next 12 hours with my kids quarantined to the bed. While I will gladly stay here with my husband, when we vacation with the kids it isn't worth the stress or hassle.
"One of many places to Stay in Red R"
This place is clean and for the most part quiet. It is a dated Motel which could use a bit of a makeover. Parking can be problematic depending on how many ATV's and RV's consume available spots. Street parking is limited across from the property. Breakfast is included in the room price and is not bad. A good variety of eggs, waffles and cereals are offered. Seating is limited so timing is important unless you like sitting outside. This place is within walking distance to all town activities.
"The only place we stay in Red River"
Mitul is the best and has a long list of regular repeat customers staying for several events in Red River throughout the year. Good to see everyone. See you soon for Octoberfest! Can't wait for Ski Season!
"Great manager"
On duty manager Michael went over the top to do a terrific job. He helped guests with luggage while simultaneously handling incoming phone calls. My key would not work and he bounded up the stairs with new key card to be sure I could open door. He personally cooked terrific breakfast with eggs to order. Can't beat the service or the attitude.
"Best Breakfast at a motel ever!"
Nice BW along the Red River. Stayed over one night enroute. Mike is awesome and will take care of you at breakfast. Room was clean and about expected for a BW class property. Location along the river is nice!
"A great place to stay with exceptional service!"
It had been years since we had been to Red River and we were fortunate to stay at the Best Western River's Edge when we recently returned. The manager (Mike Patel) went out of his way to ensure that our stay was most enjoyable. He provided truly outstanding customer service that you would expect at a 5-star resort. We look forward to returning to Red River again, every bit as much to enjoy Mike's hospitality as to enjoy the beauty of the area. A great place to stay in Red River!!
"Great Place to Cool Off from Texas Heat"
My wife and I stayed for 5 nights in July and enjoyed our stay immensely. The service was great and the room was very inviting. Made to order breakfast is a real plus. The hotel is located on the banks of the river, very relaxing. Great place to fish for trout for adults and children. Maintenance of room was tops. Mike Patel, a great manager.
"reuion fun"
we really enjoyed the staff and the hotel very clean rooms and great river access just wonderful our children loved playing in the water we were close to all the shops easy walking distant used the fire pit to watch the stars right next to the ski lift so we took the ride to the top will stay again have stay at other lodging in Red River but this is the best
"Great value, nice hotel."
Given the location of this hotel, I thought it was a great value. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and my room was impeccably clean. My only complaint is that the bed, while comfortable, was just shy of meeting my (admittedly extremely picky) expectations. Sometimes chain hotels have beds that feel like they come from some factory that mass produces mattresses for chain hotels.
"Cavender' Summer Vacation"
We stayed 7 day at the Best Western at Rivers Edge in Red River, New Mexico. They were 16 of us. Everyone one was externally friendly and helpful. We would not stay anywhere else. The staff at Riversedge go out of their way to make our stay comfortable and fun. The staff feels like family. We are looking forward to retuning next year with more family members.
"Pit Fire and brook in July"
With temps at and over 100* at home, we, and several other Rivers Edge guests spent time in Red River, NM. The motel is just a few feet away from the river and the back patio area was well furnished for relaxing and visiting with the other guests. The staff was so helpful and guided us to several activities and eating places that were very much 'local flavor'. In the evening there was a pit fire and plenty of extra wood to keep it burning long into the night. In the morning we were asked how we wanted our eggs, and they were done just right, with bacon on the side. And what is better than a waffle made in high altitude! We chose a table near the stream and some of our new friends from another state joined us. We found the room quiet and clean and comfortable. We will definitely stay here again and have recommended it to others. It's just a few steps from a ski lift too.
"Just a comfortable, clean, friendly place!"
We stayed for first time and really enjoyed it! Were not sure how this might go, but very pleasantly surprised. Rooms are comfortable, clean, and you are backing up to the river. Family friendly atmosphere with chairs by the river for relaxing, fire pit in evening, and an actually edible breakfast in the morn --- will stay here again! :-)
"A Wonderful Place to Stay"
We enjoyed staying here and would definitely stay again! The location is great. The rooms are spacious and the breakfasts were good. The river is right behind the hotel and it is quiet at night. Each room has a microwave and mini frig. A wonderful place to stay!
"Great location and service"
The location of this property is excellent. Situated right on the edge of the red river. Chairs and tables make it a great place to enjoy the river. In the evenings they build a fire and it is a great place to unwind. The rooms are very adequate. The made to order breakfast is something quite unusual for a place like this. The staff was very friendly and helpful in every way. I don't know what else you could possibly want .
"best "camping" experience....campfire outside, but all amenities of nice hotel!"
Just what we'd hoped...a nice comfy hotel room with all the amenities with a "camping" atmosphere out the door....a campfire, a mountain river/stream flowing right beside the edge of the property with trout swimming by....perfect "hosts" running the place....large deck for all first floor river's edge rooms each with table and four chairs on deck. Campfire surrounded by tables(with umbrellas for hot sun or afternoon rain shower) and chairs plentiful. Loved this experience.
"Always great!!"
My husband and I have stayed here every year we come up. I love, love being on the river, and the family atmosphere we experience every time we come. The breakfast is awesome, due to the guys who cook it! They cook to order eggs, and waffles, you can toast your own bread or bagels. The coffee is strong (which I like), and there is always other travelers waiting to share their favorite spots for fishing, shopping, or outdoor adventure. The price of a room is reasonable considering you're in Red River, and the pillows are comfy. I highly recommend this place, and I love that you can book it online, as some of the hotels in Red River only book over the phone, or via email.
"Always a pleasant experience"
I have stayed at this hotel for many years and as always the staff continues to be helpful and professional and the cleanliness of the hotel is above average. The location is excellent and within walking distance of almost everything there is to see and do.
"Nice location"
Looks like an older hotel but is kept up, internet is not very good, but checking email was fine, breakfast was okay, has a cramped area near the lobby, staff was very friendly and the location next to the river is great! I would stay here again
"Best location on the river!"
Beautiful view of the river! Updated rooms, very comfy beds, friendly service! Can't be beat!! My husband and I enjoyed the great cooked to order breakfast. The outdoor sitting /picnic area right on the river was a great place to just sit and talk! Very peaceful!
"Nice Place to Stay"
Stayed here June 1st on my 10 day harley ride. Very clean rooms. More TV channels then I have ever seen at a hotel. I had a nice room by the river. Walking distance to town. I look forward to staying here again.
"Great Hotel, Great Location"
We loved our stay at Best Western Rivers Edge. The room was perfect, very clean and comfortable. We loved that it was right along the river with that great patio area. We ate lots of meals outside listening to the river rush by. The fresh made breakfast in the morning was a great way to start the day. And we enjoyed finishing each day with a walk along the river and then sitting by the campfire at the hotel when we returned. The hotel is located right off main street with shopping, groceries, a park, visitor center, and restaurants all within walking distance. Our stay here was perfect!
"Pleasant surprise in the mountains of NM"
We have not stayed in Best Western in years because of quality issues in the past. We didn't have a choice due to short notice and it was the nicest place of several I have stayed over several summer trips to Red River. Our room overlooked Red River (within feet of the hotel). It was clean and modern. Mark cooked us bacon, eggs, & waffles every morning for breakfast (aside from standard continental fare). We were right next door to the ski lift and walking distance to everything in town. We will definitely be booking there again!
"Perfect place in a perfect place"
This is a great hotel. Ask for a room facing the Red River. I've stayed here twice. Mike, the front desk attendant, cook, well everything is awesome. He knows every guest by name. The town of Red River has a lot to do, especially if you like the outdoors.
"very pleased"
We greatly enjoyed our stay here and will come again. The number of television channels was amazing, far more than we have at home. The breakfast was prepared very well and the young man working the front counter and cooking breakfast was very nice and accommodating.
"Home Away from Home!"
Large rooms! Clean rooms! Comfortable rooms! Breakfast is made to order real eggs, not the powder stuff and they have bacon! YUMMY! Mike and Mark are a great team! Every evening on the river's edge a nice fire is going in the fire pit, just right for each night's cool air! Help to wind the day down!
"Great place by the river."
Our family group of nine stayed for three nights. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Mike Patel, the manager, was outstanding in communication, assistance, and just friendly chatting. The rooms were clean, well equipped and room service did a great job servicing the rooms. We will return, next year for our fiftieth anniversary of visiting Red River.
"Pleasant stay"
Our stay was very enjoyable. The fire by the river in the evening was so relaxing. Friendly and helpful hotel staff. The room was quiet and comfortable. Enjoyed watching the wildlife that came to the river in the morning and evening. We have put this place on our list of places to visit again.
"Great Breakfast and Location"
I was very pleased with the riverside location of this hotel. The breakfast is also wonderful, as they cook your eggs to order and will make waffles for you if you want. All breakfasts include bacon, too. I was impressed with the staff.
"First Best Western stay, and it was awesome!"
This Best Western is very nice. The location is just off Red River where you can dip your feet and walk along the rivers edge. In the evening there is a fire pit to enjoy with plenty of chairs and tables. The rooms aren't as big but have everything you need. The flat screen televisions are big and have all DirecTV channels, a nice addition! The bathroom is small but acceptable. The beds weren't as soft as I am used to but didn't have any troubles sleeping. The walls were thick enough where I didn't hear much neighbor noise. Since my room was on the ground floor in the front, I did hear plenty of foot traffic. Breakfast was conducted a little different than what I am used to. Mike cooked eggs to order with bacon on the side. Everything else was a la carte. There was plenty of food but the space was tight. If the dining area was full, there is plenty of seating outside. Mike did a wonderful job at making sure everyone is taken care of and this is a very welcoming feeling from a hotel manager. Usually guests are lost in the mix but Mike went out of his way to make sure your stay was excellent. I will definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Red River!
"Mike our friendly inn-keeper"
As always, Mike hosts a wonderful hotel in Red River, NM. He is a caring individual, always striving to help his guests. He makes check-in and check-out a snap. I always enjoy his personally hand-made egg breakfast in the morning. I always stay here
"Best Western - Red River"
Rustic and gorgeous Updated amenities and a great (for Hotel) breakfast included. Grills out back for patron use and a grocery store a stone's throw away. Beautiful view of the river - request balcony view room! The fire pit and conversation is enjoyable. We go every year for the memorial Day Red River Rally - best place to stay.
"excellent!!!"
Very nice rooms. Decor was fabulous. Staff was very friendly and helpful! Room was spotless and beds were comfortable. Breakfast was great for being included with the room. Eggs cooked to order, bacon, etc..... Will definitely return here
"Great hotel, staff, and love the location"
Beautiful location, they build you a fire at night next to the river, breakfast is the bomb! I got sick and the went out of their way to find me chamomile tea. We come here couple times a year. Very pleased and highly recommend this hotel!!
"just awesome"
Clean, affordable, friendly, honest, even the other guests were great. I will be coming back!! Ther river was rushing to hard to fish right out the door, but the seasons have been changing strangely. There are so many other places to fish, all it takes is a five minute walk in almost any direction!
"If they could only fix the noise"
My wife and I were joined by her sister and her husband on a stay in Red River after being in CO for about 10 days. We absolutely loved the hotel and location in Red River. The breakfast was well above our expectations, the staff was outstanding, the amenities were great, we were right on the river with a great area to sit and watch the water, and the rooms were truly appointed well. But, the walls must be one sheet of paper thick. We heard the people in every room around us when they walked on the squeaky floors. Worse, we heard every toilet flush in all 4 neighboring rooms. It was very annoying. Without the noise, it would have been 5 stars.
"Great Place...Still!!!"
Mike and Courtney as always are great! I think they try to make it feel like home away from home when you're there and it shows, making every effort to make sure you have what you want and get you what you need. The rooms are always nice and clean as well.
"It doesn't get any better!"
Hotel accommodations were excellent. Employees were the nicest I've ever come across. We will definitely be back! Quiet river front rooms were awesome. Breakfast is cooked to your order - not your typical contiental breakfast.
"Mardi gras"
Great time, good people and great accommodations. The BW is right in the mix. You are feet from the ski lift and everything is with in walking distance. Can't wait until next year to see my BW family and friends. Party Krewe.
"Spring Break 2017"
Excellent choice when you come to Red River. The hotel is located right next to a ski lift which is very handy! They have seating outside next to the river so you can enjoy that as well. Highly recommend this hotel.
"Great family vacation"
We greatly enjoyed our stay at Best Western Rivers Edge. You were steps from a lift. We actually brought our folding wagon, because we had a little one in ski school that was a little farther up the road, but, we are talking 500-600 yards maybe. The room was clean, we were on the riverside, probably got to park 40 feet from our room. Breakfast had just a few choices, but, was good. The beds were very spacious. I wish the fridges were a little bigger in room, but, we had a drink one/replace one policy for drinks and kept something cold at all times. The staff was friendly, helpful, and doubled as edd and waffle cooks in the morning.
"WE'RE BACK!!!!!!!"
Just love this place. The entire staff is like on big family. We stayed four days during Nightmare in the Mountains during Mardi Gras. We had a great stay. Can't beat the Breakfasts!!!!! We were only 100 feet from the Platinum chair lift and the The Lift house Bar and Grill. Rooms very clean and staff was easy to contact. We will be back....
"Great Experience at the Red River, NM Best Western"
I was very pleasantly surprised at my stay in the Red River Best Western. The rooms were very nice and cozy and the hotel staff was great. I will be traveling to Red River often in the next couple of months. Due to my great experience, I will be booking there exclusively.
"Spring break "
Absolutely fantastic hotel! When we arrived the snow on the ground but warm sun was a welcome surprise. The room was stocked with hot chocolate, elevation medecine, hot teas, coffees, emergen-c as well as complimentary ponytail holders. We opened the windows in the bathroom and the cool breeze filled the room. The water from the faucet was cool and clean and delicious, and I never drink water from the faucet! This place was perfect! They also had a cafe that had great breakfast choices! Very close to ski valley! Would definitely stay again!
"Very peaceful "
Stayed at this hotel for a few days beginning of November. It sits back a block from the main road right by the creek. Staff is very friendly and room was clean. We were pleasantly surprised to get a nice breakfast.. eggs to order, a few strips of bacon and waffle for breakfast. The guy that cooked it for us was great. One of the evenings there was a camp fire by the creek, surrounded by plenty of seating. As for the town, a lot of places were still closed. Skilift is right next to the hotel, but was not running yet. I would stay there again.
"Bubbling Brook"
This is the second time we've stayed at River's Edge in Red River and we enjoyed this stay EVEN more! First visit we were on the parking lot side and this time on the river side. It was so enjoyable to open the door to the soothing sound of the river and look at the peaceful river side seating area the hotel provides. Wonderfully relaxing and peaceful!!
"Very comfortable, well located and friendly motel"
I stayed here with my best friend who was visiting from England for 1 night at the end of September. The rooms are very well appointed with great beds, bathrooms and every convenience right on your room. It was very clean, the bedding was good and the heat/air worked well. The staff were very friendly and informative and a special mention for their buffet breakfast which is great thanks to Mark the manager who will cook to order. We were very impressed and this will be our motel of choice if we return to RR again. The only thing to consider is they doi not have an elevator to the second floor rooms.
"Nice rooms on the river."
Room was much better than we remembered. We had a queen room which also had a double decker full bunk beds. Room would sleep 6 with no problem. Plenty of hot water. Room also had a full kitchen. Microwave, fridge, and all the pots, pans, and utensils you would want. Breakfast was good, and included cook to order eggs. Staff was easy to work with and a good source of local information. Last time we were here, 10 years ago, and just as good now as it was then. Will book here anytime we come to Red River.
"A wonderful week in Red River"
Red River, NM is an excellent place to enjoy the fall of the year. The Aspen are a brilliant yellow nestled in the green pine trees. There is a variety of very good places to eat from Mexican and Italian food to burgers and pancakes. It is also a great place to watch wildlife such as mule deer. The stream that flows through the town is stocked with trout.
"Best Place to Stay in Red River, NM"
This hotel is the best because we have kids and need room. They offer rooms with kitchens and full-size bunk beds along with the Queen-size bed. The staff is very friendly and helpful! The hotel is located near the river. You can just walk to the back of the hotel, and the Red River is there! We absolutely love staying here. Hot breakfast is included in the morning with waffles, eggs, bacon, and other items. Also, you can just walk right into town from the hotel.
"Fall Foliage tour"
Great service, good breakfast. quick, fast. The clerk is a short order cook and takes pride in giving service. We had eggs, bacon, and toast. Also gave good travel advice. The motel was next to the river. Nice view. Restaurants close by.
"sounds and sights"
the small river/creek is just behind the hotel, and we spent time just watching the ducks and the water flows.. the Fall's changing colors and the sound of the water is so relaxing... good family owned restaurants are walking distance.. there's a pizza resto just accross the street, and I also highly recommend it.
"BEST WESTERN,RED RIVER NM"
One of the best BEST WESTERN, they were pet friendly, plus the breakfast was great, cooked to your order. The staff were also great. The restaurant near the hotel gave you 10 percent off to hotel guests. BUD CARTER, TEXAS
"Very pleasant indeed."
Check in was a breeze. They let us check in two hours early and honored our request for a second floor river view. The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast to order was great and a couple of steps up from the usual hotel breakfast. A great stay,
"Enjoyed the stay in the hotel"
Only problem was dragging luggage up 2 flights of stairs since we were senior citizens - it was a little difficult but otherwise we had an enjoyable stay! The rooms were clean and comfortable and we truly enjoyed the complete breakfast that was offered every momnrning
"River's Edge"
It was a bonus to have the river view outside the room! The convenience of ordering breakfast upon request was very nice. The location of the hotel is just great for moving around town. This hotel is recommended for a relaxing vacation.
"Great place to stay close to everything and right on the river!"
Very relaxing atmosphere at this hotel. I had mentioned in my comments on my online reservation that I would like to be on the first floor because I was still recovering from hip replacement. My request was honored and I was given the perfect room. The desk clerk is also the cook for the "made to order" eggs for breakfast. The room and bathroom were spotless and bigger than usual. Nice extras such as bottled water in the room. Staff could not be more friendly and professional. We were able to check in early when rooms were ready. Will definitely go back to stay there.
"Fall Retreat"
A wonderful place to stay. Best staff ever!!! Good breakfast, and fun campfire at night. So much to do in the area, and the staff helps you find what interests you. Beautiful stream runs in the backyard. Perfect getaway.
"Beautiful location"
Very nice staff both office and room service. Beautiful relaxing place in back near the river. Fire circle to have a nice fire on a cool evening by a running river. Excellent breakfast - they had a person cooking eggs, bacon and waffles. Very good food. I can't say enough good things about this facility.
"Popular Red River Hotel"
We stay at this motel in Red River which is very popular in the small town of Red River. This motel seems to be booked to capacity most nights. From what we were told there are only two rooms in the motel that have a King size bed which is disappointing to say the least. We enjoy the good cooked to order breakfast this motel offers. The motel sits on the river and the motel staff has a fire pit which they start every evening after dark for the guests. Ample chairs are provided to sit in beside the fire pit.
"Relaxing and Friendly"
Just stayed here 3 nights and could not be happier with the staff, cleanliness and aura of the entire place. Setting is beautiful and serene. Hotel is walking distance to all of downtown, ski lifts and park.
"Awesome place to stay"
This was a fabulous place in a great little town! we only stayed one night on our travels back to Fort Collins...should have stayed longer. Mike...who did EVERYTHING was the perfect host. A must stay if you are ever in this area.
"Series of misfortunes"
For some reason I thought all rooms faced the river. Wrong. Our room faced the street and right across from us was a Go-Kart Track. So, instead of hearing the river, we heard go-karts racing. You could hear the go-karts a block away. So, don't stay here expecting peace and tranquility unless you make sure you have a room on the river side. On our first night, some guests had a party with hard liquor in the lobby and I was surprised the front desk staff person allowed it, though he might have participated. Afterwards some of the party-attendees stood outside talking. using profane language. On our second morning, the alarm clock in an empty adjoining room went off at 5:30 and rang for at least 45 minutes. I called the front desk to help but no one was on duty that early to help. Other than that, the room was nice and the front desk staff made fresh eggs to order at breakfast. There is no elevator in the building so plan on lugging your bags up stairs if you're on the second floor. There are a coin-operated washer and dryer for guests.
"A River Runs Behind It!"
Better than expected! Quaint, rustic beautiful setting with the Red River steps behind the hotel and a ski lift 1/2 block away! Great breakfast included and wifi. Very pleasantly pleased with a rustic ski load feel. Hot tub, outdoor fire pit next to the river.
"Best"
Love this place, the river view, the breakfast,t the walking distance to everything, next to the chair lift, next to the river, next to grocery store, the best location in red river if you're staying in a hotel,
"Enjoyed our stay here!"
We stayed he for several nights and enjoyed out stay. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The hotel is in a fantastic location. It is near everything in town, but tucked away just a bit so it is quiet. For those skiing in the winter, it is right next to the ski lift. They serve a wonderful breakfast. The eggs are made to order. I am glad we stayed here and when we return, we will be looking to stay here again.
",Best hotel in Red River (location, service breakfast, friendly...just easy to be there."
Spent 5 nights, excellent breakfast included &cooked as ordered) starting at 7:00 a.m...Location right on the river running through Red River (trout for fishing), accommodating, large patio area, nice table and chairs, have a drink, watch the river flow, meet and greet friendly and interesting people. We booked for 2017 before we left.
"STAYED HERE BEFORE"
We have probably stayed at this Best Western 3 other times in the last 5 years. Love Red River for the quaint setting, and love Rivers Edge for the same reason. Within walking distance of a few restaurants. Calm, quiet, clean, and very nice personnel. Great setting - we love it.
"Great 2 Night Stay"
In 2013, we stopped here during a long cross country trip. We fell in love with this little town and its shops and friendly people. Just before Labor Day 2016, we stopped at the Best Western Red River again during a long road trip. We wanted to come back to town and, despite driving a motorhome, we wanted to stay at the Best Western again. We were really happy to see Mike at the front desk. He's really friendly and works hard-he was up early the next morning making eggs and bacon for his hungry visitors. You can't sitting out back around the fire, watching trout being caught. The walls are a little thin, but we put the A/C on high at night and didn't hear a thing. The sound of the river helped us relax enough for an afternoon nap. Our riverfront room on the 2nd floor was clean and comfortable. We had no problems hearing the plumbing.
"Great place on the river!"
We absolutely love Red River and the Best Western is wonderful. Very nice rooms and right on the river! We stayed there by accident but turned out to be our favorite place on our trip. The staff is very nice and they make a great breakfast to order. The town of Red River is wonderful. Nice people and many things to do in town.
"Labor Day with family on the River's Edge"
For the 4th straight year we spent Labor Day at the Best Western River's Edge in Red River New Mexico. What a jewel! This year we had 4 rooms booked on the River view side (we booked them before we left last year), and had our kids join us for 3 relaxing Days at the base of the mountain. The trout stream literally steps from your door. Imagine the peaceful sound as you catch yourself just standing there for minutes everytime you leave your room. The staff here is incredible. Mark cooking breakfest by order in the morning, then Mike coming showing up later to handle anything else you might need. All of the staff cleaning the rooms stop to see that you are doing well and greet you. We will be back next year and already have the rooms booked, but this time we booked them when we checked in. What a great place!
"Great end-of-summer stay"
My wife and I took our 3 small children on a spur of the moment trip before school started. The hotel was great and in an excellent location. It was rather warm while we were there so the room air conditioner was nice to have. I would definitely recommend anyone to stay there.
"friendly with VERY bad and noisy plumbing"
Spent one night traveling through Red River on a road trip. Friendly and helpful staff who even cooks a breakfast for you as you order, a nice treat. Rooms on the back river side quiet and comfortable. Basically no complaints until we had horrendous plumbing noises about 11PM which woke us and continued. What a pain and pretty unacceptable. Would rate lower based on this but everything else OK
"Nice Property, Beautiful Setting"
We stayed at Best Western Rivers Edge for two nights. It's situated in a beautiful location right beside the river, which is shallow and clear. We saw several people trout fishing during our stay. The hotel is well kept, modern and clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They offer a nice breakfast with eggs cooked to order, waffles and bacon. There were some cold breakfast options as well. The lobby area is small but there are quite a few tables outside on the covered deck if the weather is agreeable to you. Restaurants and shops are close by and within walking distance of you don't want to drive. There is a ski lift right next door to the hotel that even runs in the summer for a scenic tour. Overall we were very pleased with our stay and will mostly likely stay here again.
"What a gem!"
This is a rustic hotel right on the creek with a view of the ski slope. The staff members are friendly and helpful. Breakfast choices are limited but the waffles and eggs are cooked to order and the coffee is great. Will definitely stay here again.
"Nice but noisy"
This Best Western is nice, located next to the river. Rooms are nice, clean and comfortable but noisy! In our room, door closed, we could hear conversations by the river. We heard toilets flush and showers running from all adjoining rooms. For the price, I would expect a little less noise.
"Comfortable, Convenient, and Well-Managed Hotel"
This small hotel, located on the banks of the Red River (actually a scenic mountain stream at that location), is an excellent home-away-from-home for visitors to the area. The staff is friendly and accommodating, the rooms are clean and appropriately appointed, the breakfast of eggs, waffles, or cereal (included in most rates) is convenient and economical, and the location is an easy walk from all portions of the Red River community.
"The Best Hotel in Red River"
We arrived early and Mark agreed to get us checked in anyway as our room was ready. It was raining outside so saved us trying to find shelter elsewhere. That was a huge plus. The rooms were decorated nicely, very clean and the beds were comfortable. We will definitely book here again when we return to Red River. Great location, service and rooms! Oh yea, they are pet friendly!
"Pleasant experience!"
This place sure was hopping! Two large groups of friends/family came and went while we were visiting. The accommodations on the outside rivers edge and patio seating managed to fit everyone and comfortably! There's a Firepit out back, not sure where the wood came from though. Staff working the desk and housekeeping were very friendly. Breakfast is served from 7-10. The waffles were excellent!!! No fruit but made to order eggs, bacon, yogurt and toppings, and cereal. Great place to eat when you can't get a seat at a local breakfast restaurant. Keep in mind there isn't an elevator on the premises so hauling ice chests and luggage up and down can be tricky if you aren't used to elevation. We stayed in a two queen bed room with a view of the valley. If you want a river view you need to reserve about a year in advance, that's what the front desk told us. It would be well worth it to reserve that far in advance. The first level rooms had iron tables with chairs outside them. The tranquil sounds of the river is just a stones throw away. Parking is available around the hotel as well as a gravel lot right next door. The town is very small, so parking your vehicle and walking where you want to go is a great option! Plus, parking is hard to come by at the stores and restaurants.
"Great time!"
Typical double queen room. Very clean. Some rooms have deck/balcony overlooking the river. In the evening, a few guests made a campfire down by the river. It does get cool in the evening. Breakfast included made to order eggs, bacon and waffles! We had breakfast on the very large deck overlooking the river. Right next door you can take the ski lift for a beautiful ride up/down the mountain. There are refreshments and hiking available up top. We took the "nature trail" that runs behind the motel along the river and up the mountain and back along the road. Great hike. There are a lot of family activities for all ages. Very laid back town. Great value for the money! P.S> This is a "ski" town. the Motel is located at the base of the ski lift.
"Like being home"
This is the only place we stay at when we travel to Red River NM. It has been our go to spot for 6 years now. Mike and Mark will go out of their way to make your stay relaxing. It sit right on the creek and you can enjoy nightly fires in the fire pit. Pet friendly, kid friendly. Amazing place to stay. Within walking distance of Brandenburg park and all of the town.
"Excellent Hotel Stay"
Wanting a great Hotel Stay for family. This place is easy access to all locations in town right on the river and very relaxing. Staff is great and fixes you breakfast. Will go back and stay again. Rooms are clean and nice.
"Excellent place to stay"
We loved our stay at Best Western Rivers Edge. The hotel has been remodeled. The rooms are clean and updated. The breakfast is cooked fresh. The location is excellent. The river runs behind the property. The ski lift is right next door. The go carts are across the street. The community center is across the parking lot. Many stores and restaurants on the main street of town are easy walking distance.
"The Best Stay Ever!"
This quaint hotel was located on the river and our room actually faced the water which was a merry clear water stream that warranted wading had there been time. Because we were going to be a late arrival, the manager taped an envelope to the door with our key. All the handicapped spots and rooms were full and it happened we were in a room on the second floor. There is no elevator. As I am not in a wheelchair this worked out. The upstairs floor had a terrace that ran the extent of the building. There were picnic tables outside with a fire pit in use. There was a easy comrade there and is more akin to a ski lodge in looks and extremely cozy. There was a fridge in room and free wifi. There was more than a continental breakfast but offered a grill and a gentleman that made us two perfect eggs over easy, bacon and a marvelous freshly made for us waffles. Divine breakfast, hot and fresh. Ski lift to ride up mountainside at the hotel. Tourist sights and shops all in easy walking distance, even for me. Stairs for me with cane were rather a drag but took my time. I'm actually ready to go back there for a stay with lovely and well appointed features such as built in fridge to match decor in the cabin..much nicer than a regular hotel room, it was clean, very comfortable and fun. I recommend this place to anyone passing by this quaint area.
"Totally Renovated Kitchenettes"
My husband and I recently stayed at Rivers Edge. The only available room was with bunk bed, queen, and kitchenette. At first I was doubtful. When we walked in and saw the beautifully renovated kitchenette with granite, tile, trendy new cabinets, updated appliances, updated bath, beautiful fresh paint colors, and a nice bunk to spread all our luggage out on, I knew we had made the right decision. There are only 2 kitchenettes available. We stayed in 219 which faces the street and is kinda of dark. I think 201 would be a better choice because its location is better and it has an extra Window providing more light. The other great thing about BW Rivers Edge is Mike, the manager. This guy is "Johnny on the Spot" if you need absolutely anything. We needed 2 drinking glasses because for whatever reason they were missing from the kitchenette. Mike ran to get them for us out of the breakfast area's dishwasher. He is just about always at the front desk or walking around the property. In fact, he lives on property. LOVE IT!!! Makes me feel very safe to know that the manager is there 24/7. We walked around and looked at all the other places. This one is the best out of what we saw because it backs up to the river and is right around the corner from the lift ride. In fact, we were so happy with everything that we booked again for next year before we left.
"Best Western River's Edge Red River"
This hotel is always a great place to stay. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and the staff is more than hospitable to all guests. Breakfast is great, and there are often live entertainers out back by the river.
"Red Rivers Edge"
Beautiful local on rivers edge; literally. Great breakfast items, fresh cooked to order eggs/waffle. Staff very friendly and welcoming. WIFI was unable to connect on a tablet -cell phone no problem. The room cost was higher than I normally would pay because being high traffic -area season prime time.
"A Great Place"
This place has a perfect location, a nice breakfast, clean rooms, friendly, helpful staff,. Call early to the motel an get a room on the creek side. They also take pets which is a plus for us. I felt comfortable letting the kids go around the property on their own, they are 10-12. They book up very early for this time of year, July was a very busy month. The parking is very good, they have laundry facilities, I did not use them. Mike at the desk is excellent in assisting you. Breakfast has eggs, bacon, cereal, bagels, etc. there is also a coffee pot, small frig, microwave, and a table in the room. The back side also had little tables and chairs outside your room.
"R&R Red River"
Had a great parking, room, all breakfast items were fresh-eggs cooked to order!, Accomodations were comfortable; Water hot and extreme cold for shower-NICE (visit for a hiking trip in Mtns). Not sure I forgot to ask and no mention from staff on arrival /registering... hottub had cover on don't know if was open for use or not. Overall very good time here regardless
"Poor room and furniture and amenities"
Overall below average rooms amenities and furniture the location is good but that is all The breakfast was adequate and the service was passable . Breakfast person was good. the quality of the building was poor in appearance would say not upto Best Western standards
"Great Location "
Our family had the pleasure of staying here for Spring Break and we loved every minute of it. This place is great, the rooms are just as the pictures on the website, wifi worked great, breakfast was not your typical continental breakfast it was much better. Our older kids were able to walk right next door and get on the lift that went up to the top of the mountain which was very convenient. The staff goes above and beyond. They have washer and dryers avaliable. You can walk to the shops, restaraunts, and anywhere else you want to its on the main road going through town. We can't wait to stay here again.
"Perfect Red River Location"
First, nothing is fancy in Red River; that's not why you come here. But, it's a beautiful & peaceful place. By that standard, BW Rivers Edge is likely the best place to stay in the entire town. Get a river-view room; we prefer the first floor. It's is literally right on the river (creek but, big enough to fish in). It's quiet & peaceful there, and they have chairs/tables & a fire pit to relax and enjoy the view. It's also very close to the ski lift. This hotel is very well managed. Everything works, they're super-friendly, very efficient, and just plain nice folks. We interacted with Mark, who's a great guy. I'd stay here again if we every return.
"Great Family Setting"
Great hotel for family vacation. Rooms face the river which is steps away. There is a fire pit and chairs outside and it's a great evening gathering space Rooms are large and bathrooms are fine. The customer service is exemplary and the location is perfect for walking to restaurants and shopping
"All the basics done well."
An average hotel which, aside from the strange relationship the hotel seems to have with Travelocity (I had rented three rooms, but found I only needed two, so I gave one away at the request of the hotel, but got charged for three anyway -- answer: Travelocity had no way of changing their charges), had all the necessities covered, though the beds were a bit worn down. It's a rustic town and this hotel fits in with the character of the town. Negative points for no high chair or booster seat in the breakfast area.
"ALWAYS ALWAYS!"
Mike (don't know his last name) but he always makes us welcome and remembers us each time we return (our 5th time since 2011)! Mark makes fresh eggs and bacon to your liking! The rooms are immaculate and very comfortable. We always get river side and sleep with the windows opened! We feel at home there! CANNOT BEAT THE VIEW!
"Perfect Location--All Else Near Perfect"
This is probably the most sought after motel in Red River. One can not find a better location than right alongside the Red River and the ski lift. One unusual feature of this place is that virtually everything is in perfect working order. Maintenance and housekeeping is so good that we found no lamps that did not work, no burned-out light bulbs. no malfunctioning sink, toilet or shower, comfortable beds, clean floors,a big TV functioning perfectly. If it weren't for a sink faucet that was tricky to adjust and a snap unhooked on a shower curtain (!), this place would be perfect. In addition, Mike manages the place superbly(with the friendly assistance of Mark) and fixes a quick made-to-order breakfast. The breakfast and lobby area is small but efficiently designed. Instead of lounging in the lobby, there are chairs and tables around the first floor deck plus several of these in a lovely grassy area between the motel and the river. A hot tub and some grills are also available for additional outdoor pleasures. What more could one expect for a very reasonably priced mountain inn?
"A Friendly Place"
Perfect location along the river. Had a room where I could open the window at night and go to sleep listening to the river. Very friendly host at check in. The building is a bit dated but location makes up for that. You could walk from the hotel to down town. Makes for a nice stroll.Nice fire pit at night by the river.. The only down side was the office did not open until 7am. We could not check out or get some fresh coffee or something to eat for the road. Just left the keys in the room.
"Relax and enjoy"
My wife and I have visited Red River on several occasions over the years. We have had the opportunity to stay at several locations throughout the city. We both have come to enjoy the location, friendliness and accommodations that the Best Western provides for us during our visits. The room is clean. The bed is comfortable. The bathroom is roomy. The staff if friendly and the location centrally located were you can walk to any part of the city. The laid back approach can be easily embraced in Red River. The coffee in the office kept us going throughout the day. The gentlemen in the front office offered to cook us eggs every morning. We conversed with several people riding motorcycles and from the great state of Texas.
"June"
This was our second time at Red River Best Western Hotel. We have enjoyed each of our stays. This time was a longer stay. I enjoyed the friendliness of the staff, the wonderful coffee in the lobby and we were offered breakfast every morning. I also enjoyed how we could walk around the town because of the excellent location.
"Good stuff"
Great staff and breakfast short order eggs and waffles the rest is self serve Location is great and the outside hottub is nice Clean and comply rooms with good internet so that is always a plus There is outside seating by the river and a fire ring which is really cool for chilling out
"The BEST in Red River!"
We really enjoyed our stay at Best Western River's Edge in Red River, NM. The room was exceptionally clean. The beds were comfortable. The views were spectacular, make sure & ask for a river facing room. The breakfast was the best we ever experienced from a free hotel breakfast.
"Great location and friendly staff"
We were attending a wedding in Red River and needed accommodations for 2 nights. The location was ideal and our room was on the river side. I loved listening to the roar of the flowing river. Mark made our included breakfast each morning and I had perfectly scrambled eggs and a waffle. Everyone gets bacon, so no need to ask. The only negative was the group down from us that stood outside their doors and smoked and it hit us every time we stepped out. Also, we were downstairs and the board walkway on the river side vibrates into the room each time someone walks by. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it.
"Mountain Get-A-Way"
Great Hotel location by the river. Can hear the water flowing from the balcony, and great service! Would recommend the Hotel to anyone who wants to go to Red River, NM or just to the mountains. Fresh to order cooked breakfast every morning!
"50th Wedding Anniversary"
50 years together is quite an experience....Instead of having a big "Blow out" with friends and family my wife and I felt this was our time together. We went to Red River on Our Second anniversary and many times since then. The people at the Bet Western were courteous...and kind....Rooms was perfect and the sound of the river was very enlightening. Had a great time and will be back before the year is over.
"Hotel location"
Our stay was excellence, right by the river. the staff was nice and really enjoyed breakfast. there is a store close by to purchase water or whatever. would like to come again. they had a nice fire pit for anyone that would like to sit by the river. they provided the wood and started the fire, all you do is relax and enjoy.
"Recommend"
The lodge was wonderful. Had a fire on the river every night. Could wake and hear the river. The staff was friendly, fun and helpful. The room was quiet and clean. Bed was comfortable. I love Red River and the lodge.
"Comfortable, well designed."
The room was well appointed, the bed comfortable, the breakfast way above average. What made it even better were the extras of well thought out public places: comfortable chairs and fire by the river's edge, barbecue grills with tables and chairs on the deck, hot tub. Great for families and even if you don't use them they add to the "package."
"Best Western overlooking the river"
The Best Western in Red River was wonderful. Overlooking the river and close to town. Breakfast was made to order. Room was clean and newly remodeled. The staff was very helpful in locating this in town.
"Passing Through"
A great place to actually stay awhile. The staff was very accommodating, friendly and helpful. The room had a huge flat screen and breakfast was cooked to our order. They used real eggs and bacon, nothing cheap. I liked parking in front of my room like a motel for the ease of carrying things inside and also for the security of my vehicle. Next time I may stay longer...
"On the River with a Hot Tub"
Can walk around the town from here. There is a grocery store and go-kart track nearby. Lovely accommodations. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Fairly reasonable. Very relaxing. Stay here every time we are in Red River. Can never go wrong with the quality of a Best Western.
"Best hotel in town"
Visited Red River on 4 occasions and this hotel has by far the best atmosphere and people. The cooked breakfast is great. Nice sitting area next to the river to enjoy the wonderful scenery. I would highly recommend this hotel and request a room with the view of the river.
"Cozy and Welcoming"
My husband and I stayed here for a night on our way through on a road trip. We were pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of the rooms, the room amenities well stocked and a nice big TV in room. The breakfast was cozy and filling and we were very pleased by our stay here. Would definitely recommend.
"Perfect vacation"
We were needing a relaxing place to just get away for a few days. Red River NM was "off season" and so quiet. It snowed every day we were there but they kept the roads clear. The Best Western is right on the river with a wall of pine trees and the chair lift just across the river. Soooo beautiful!!! An outdoor fire in the evening with the sound of the river is most relaxing. Once we get to town, we park the car and walk everywhere the entire time we are there. It really is the perfect get away!
"Great Hotel in Red River!"
This is a wonderful hotel in Red River! Perfect location in town, and also near the river. Great staff, nice rooms, and a good cooked to order breakfast. Very hard to beat. I have stayed in most of the hotels in Red River, and this one has the nicest overall experience.
"Trip away"
The moment we arrived the staff was nice and welcomed us. They gave us great information. We enjoyed the hot breakfast the next morning and the room was very clean. Our bed was cozy and we had a great view out our window of the river.
"Good location, high standards"
The Best Western Rivers Edge is located in town, on the river--near everything. The staff is courteous and friendly. Rooms are spacious and well furnished. Coffee in room and available all day in the lobby. Complimentary breakfast includes eggs cooked to order and waffles.
"Best Western Rivers Edge"
The Best Western Rivers Edge was wonderful. It is in a beautiful location and the rooms are very nice. The staff is very helpful. I would stay there again. We had a room that faced the river and the view was absolutely gorgeous!.
"Great Hotel Site, Excellant Staff"
This is a great hotel at the bottom of the lift for winter skiing and as it says on the River's edge. Nice patio next to the river for hanging out. The staff is excellent from the room service crew to the owner.

"GREAT STAY & BEAUTIFUL VIEW!!!"
Recently rented a room at the Best Western in Red River and it was a truly great experience! ! The room was perfect and clean, the view from my room was amazing and picture prefect. Mike, the General Manager made sure everything was in order and was a very proud Red River resident. Plan on returning for summer break with wife and family!! Looking forward to another wonderful stay.

"Last minute Spring Break ski trip"
Very nice place to stay. Great rooms with comfy beds. The rooms are nicely decorated so it doesn't feel like a run of the mill hotel/motel room. Really close to the ski lifts. Friendly staff and great breakfast. Best waffles ever. Will definitely be returning.
bwriversedge, Owner at BEST WESTERN Rivers Edge, responded to this review
I appreciate the compliments - we went beyond Best Western standards when we picked the beds and decorated the rooms, so thank you for the feedback. We plan on being even better for your next stay - see you then! Sincerely, Courtney Henderson, owner bestwesternriversedge@hotmail.com 575-754-2388
"Ski trip to Red River, NM"
Great location to stay in Red River. You can walk to the chair lift. There is a river flowing directly behind the hotel and they had a fire for roasting marshmallows nightly. This location is within a short walk to many local shops and eateries.

Thank you for giving us a try and for the great review - we'll keep the fire going! Sincerely, Courtney Henderson, owner bestwesternriversedge@hotmail.com 575-754-2388
"2nd trip to RR"
This was our second trip and was spent in another (not even 3rd rate motel) because Best Western was booked solid for several weeks past our trip date. This is not a bad thing that they are always booked since people know it's the better place to stay. This trip would have been better if we could have stayed at Best Western and now we know to plan ahead to get our reservations to the place of our choice...Best Western. The room was on the river and we had a beautiful view and enjoyed the staff's courteous, at home spirit. The breakfast was great (and furnished with your lodging) and custom cooked to order. Better yet it's only a few steps to get it and no long waits or lines to mess with. It was peaceful and the guests were all like family and friends. Most of them are frequent visitors which again tells us we need to beat them to our next reservation so we can "freeload" at the staff's expense...it was just that good. 5 star class where you might not expect it. We'll be back!! The Hill's from Amarillo
bwriversedge, Owner at BEST WESTERN Rivers Edge, responded to this review
I'm sorry to hear we missed you this year, but you are right about next year and especially Spring Break, it is already starting to book up again. I promise we will be at least as good as last year, and have some new surprises coming up soon. Thank you for taking the time to give us a shout-out, and we're looking forward to seeing you again next year! Sincerely, Courtney Henderson, owner bestwesternriversedge@hotmail.com 575-754-2388
"Great staff and location"
We all loved it. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and we were a stone's throw from one of the ski lifts. GREAT location. The kids loved the included breakfast (waffles, muffins, eggs). And we were close enough to the resort where we could walk from our hotel room.
bwriversedge, Owner at BEST WESTERN Rivers Edge, responded to this review

"Would definitely stay again - Perfect location too!"
Great place to stay! Clean and quiet rooms. Our room was on the river side and was just perfectly quiet. Ski lift, eating, grocery, coffee... all within a block walking distance. I am so glad I chose this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

"location location location!!!"
Great hotel in a great location. Clean rooms, free hot breakfast, steps to the Platinum lift and just a tad further to the main chalet. Staff is very nice. Room has small fridge and microwave. Good wifi. We had a room facing the back and the view was beautiful. The hotel decor is nice and modern. Has laundry facilities on site as well as ice machine. Highly recommend!

Thank you for that very thoughtful review. I do love this location as well, and I promise we will continue to elevate it to the status it deserves... Sincerely, Courtney Henderson, owner bestwesternriversedge@hotmail.com 575-754-2388
"Bliss!"
I cannot say enough about this hotel. It is a beautiful place! Very clean, wonderful, hard working staff, delicious breakfast cooked to order, and it's location is perfect. While eating our breakfast, eight yearling deer meandered past the window, drinking in the river. We walked to the ski lift. This was exactly what we were looking for when we decided to spend a few days reconnecting as couple! Thank you for a blissful stay!
bwriversedge, Owner at BEST WESTERN Rivers Edge, responded to this review
Thank you for sharing your story, that is one of the most meaningful reviews I've ever read! I never really thought of ourselves as providing the service of helping couples to get re-acquainted, but I'm glad to hear we're good at it. I will always see this place a bit differently after reading your review, and I appreciate that. Sincerely, Courtney Henderson, owner bestwesternriversedge@hotmail.com 575-754-2388
"Can throw a snowball to the ski area from this location!"
We really enjoyed the cabin feel and ideal location of this Best Western in Red River. We have stayed at other hotels in the area and were a bit skeptical to try a new spot - especially having our 10 month old son with us, but Mike made us feel right at home... can't say we have chosen to hang out in a hotel lobby before this trip. In the evening, the couches and fireplace make it a great spot to talk with other travelers. In the morning, the space transforms into a breakfast area with really tasty, made-to-order breakfast! We will be back soon for our first summer trip to Red River!
bwriversedge, Owner at BEST WESTERN Rivers Edge, responded to this review
Not only can you hit someone on the lift with a snowball, we have defeated the ski area employees in numerous snowball fights! I hope you're here for the next one. Thank you for venturing us a try, and for being the kind of fun people who enjoy the lobby... Sincerely, Courtney Henderson, owner bestwesternriversedge@hotmail.com 575-754-2388
"Excellent place to stay"
My husband and I really enjoyed staying at this hotel , we don't ski but enjoyed watching the others on the ski slopes from our balcony. The free breakfast was awesome, they have a wonderful cook. BEST WAFFLES ever!
bwriversedge, Owner at BEST WESTERN Rivers Edge, responded to this review
You know, I don't ski every day either, and still manage to have a good time as well. That's a fine compliment to receive this time of year from a non-skier - thank you very much. Sincerely, Courtney Henderson, owner bestwesternriversedge@hotmail.com 575-754-2388
"Bad staff"
The hotel room was ok the door did not latch had to block it with my bag. The breakfast cook was mental and created a embarrassing scene when I ordered so I left and skipped breakfast. I will not ever stay at that hotel again. worst hotel stay I have ever had.
bwriversedge, Owner at BEST WESTERN Rivers Edge, responded to this review
I'm sorry to hear we didn't live up to your expectations, but please, if you can't get your door latched, report it immediately - the last thing I want is anyone dealing with a room that is not secure. I did check on it and both the latch and deadbolt worked for me, perhaps something had been caught under the door. I do apologize for the breakfast attendant, he is a little hard of hearing and I believe there must have been some kind of miscommunication between the two of you. I wasn't there, so I will forever give you the benefit of the doubt, but if you're interested in his side of the story, it was that you wouldn't give him an order but kept him pinned him up against the counter and wouldn't back off, and he felt threatened. I did hear from another customer who said you left the breakfast area smiling, which they thought was odd - perhaps you were making a joke that was misunderstood? In any case, I expect my employees to be able to handle such a situation with patience, but I assure you this does not happen everyday. I promise you if it does happen again, I will go back to serving breakfast, and I don't faze easily. Thank you for your input and please know that I do take it seriously, Sincerely, Courtney Henderson, owner bestwesternriversedge@hotmail.com 575-754-2388
"Awesome!"
We just returned from our first trip to Red River and we will be back! the Best western was fantastic. Great location for skiing! The staff was wonderful very friendly and breakfast was a great addition! The sound of the water running in the river is just icing on the cake! This is the BEST place to stay in Red River!!!

"Pleasant stay in a Winter Wonderland!!!!!"
Location, Location, Location!!!! The Best Wester Rivers Edge is about 20 feet from a great restaurant and Ski lift. We were greeted by friendly staff and were able to check in immediately. Our room was clean and tidy, but had some issues with the heater. Staff put in a space heater which managed to keep the room warm and toasty. The Breakfast at the Best Western was another big plus. They have a cook on sight who makes eggs, waffles and bacon at guest requests. The breakfast alone was worth a good 25.00 and was included in your stay. Would definitely stay again. Mike the manager was a hoot!!!!!
bwriversedge, Owner at BEST WESTERN Rivers Edge, responded to this review
I apologize for the heater - we replaced the control board and it is working fine again. We always keep a spare of literally everything in the hotel on hand so I promise we will never leave you in the cold, and I'm glad to hear everything worked out well. Thank you for taking the time to review us, and for being so understanding - customers such as yourself make our lives better... "Great staff, very helpful & beautiful vacation spot"
We got to Red River right at 3 pm which was check in time. Check in at desk was a breeze. Housekeeper that was in corridor by room was very helpful. She did her best to make our accommodations wonderful, even gave us tips for best places to eat when asked. My daughter got ill and we had to leave early, we were refunded a portion of our stay. I was not expecting this but person at check out desk was very nice and understanding. I don't think we got the AAA rates we should have for time we stayed but we're very thankful for not being charged for additional days. Breakfast was great and we would love to come back! (I will say room had a strong odor, almost like some type of cleaner and we all had headaches when we stayed in room for any length of time).
bwriversedge, Owner at BEST WESTERN Rivers Edge, responded to this review
I'm sorry to hear about your daughter's illness. I remember feeling bad the first couple of days I ever spent in Red River, we are just barely at the elevation where some people get mild altitude sickness, and I had come straight up from sea level in Galveston. Unfortunately by the time some people get acclimated it's usually time to go home. I've also learned that aspirin and lots of water usually do the trick. We try to use the mildest cleaners possible, both for our guests and housekeepers, who can develop hypersensitivity to cleaning chemicals. I think you might have had a room with an oven, and we don't usually need to use oven cleaner (and it should be in the off-season if we do). I've also found burned microwave popcorn can put out pretty serious gases, but I will check into this. Thank you for letting me know - I promise your next room will be odor-free, and we hope to see you soon. Sincerely, Courtney Henderson, owner bestwesternriversedge@hotmail.com 575-754-2388
"Great Place"
We have stayed here several times, both in the summer and the winter. In the winter, you are right by the ski lift and it's so convenient. In the summer, you can sit on the balcony and enjoy the view. It is near good restaurants, and your breakfast is always made to order just for you. We already have reservations to come in the spring!
"A good choice for skiers"
Clean, comfortable, quiet rooms loacated adjacent to the best lift on the mountain. Breakfast is pretty typical except for the waffles, which are excellent, as was the desk service. Rear rooms are creek side, a nice setting. Wifi was mostly good, hi def tv a plus. Overall an excellent value.
"AMAZING Place!"
My husband and I needed a place to stay for one night and so I found the Best Western. I am so glad that we stayed here, this place is awesome. We checked in about 7PM and the guy at the front desk (cant remember his name) was so nice! He greeted me with a nice smile and told me to make sure and come down for breakfast. We stayed in room 116 (I believe) and the view was great! The room itself was nice with a big bed, tv and mini fridge. We woke up the next morning and it was nice to have a great view of the river and see the snow. Next was the best part.... We went to go eat breakfast and there was a man down there and he asked us what we would like. So we said a waffle and he ended up making us waffles, eggs and bacon! It was delicious and he was so nice. I would def stay here again and again. Good job Best Western!

"Awesome place to stay!"
Awesome staff? CHECK! Super clean rooms? CHECK! Really short walk to ski lift? CHECK! What else could you want when staying for a ski trip? Not much. But...they do offer more!!! Breakfast includes fresh cooked to order eggs and waffles, bacon, toast, cereal and other options. Thanks again for a great 5 night stay!

"HANDS DOWN, BEST PLACE!!!!!!!!!!"
WHERE TO EVEN BEGIN? I don't normally take the time to write reviews but this place surpassed all expectations possible, SO I HAD TO! I stayed at Copper King last year and it doesn't even compare to Best Western Rivers Edge. Starting with the fact this hotel had the cleanest and most relaxing rooms, not to mention the friendliest cleaning staff. The views from this hotel are absolutely beautiful and incomparable, you have the Red River itself running right beside the hotel which is so relaxing to listen to sitting on the back patio!! A huge plus is you can literally walk 10 feet and get on the ski lift, and start your day! The breakfast is outstanding here, and cooked FRESH per person!! And last but not least the STAFF!! They are seriously overly accommodating and make your stay here at Best Western feel really special. Mike and Courtney are AWESOME, their customer service is REMARKABLE! I've never stayed anywhere (Hiltons, Marriott's, Sheratons) that gave me the customer service this hotel did! I will defiantly be returning to Red River next year and won't even have to think twice about where I will be staying. I will hands down be spreading the word to friends, family, and co workers who plan on taking a trip here in the future!!!!
bwriversedge, Owner at BEST WESTERN Rivers Edge, responded to this review

"2nd stay and already booked for next year"
My husband began staying here several years before he talked me into it. He would bring our daughter to ski just the 2 of them each winter and we would also take a family trip. I always wanted a condo or a house. He finally convinced me to just check out the grounds. I was so impressed and agreed to come back and try it. I am so glad I did. We just finished our second family trip with Best Western. Mike goes above and beyond in all areas to provide the very best customer service. (and he cooks a GREAT breakfast) Courtney is around each day to say hi and make sure we are all having a great time. The rooms are big, the staff is AMAZING, it is very clean, and so close to the lift that my kids wear their ski boots and carry their own ski's...BONUS!!! Just like my Title says we have already booked our rooms for next year. You will not regret this choice!!!

I have stayed at the Best Western the last 3 years with our college group. Mike and the entire crew are excellent. Rooms are amazing, beds are great, food is hot and fast in the morning! Thank you for providing excellent service.

"Great Stay Friendly Service"
Had a wonderful time, hotel was clean and the service was great. We wanted a hotel with a hot tub and a great view, this hotel had both. The hot tub was clean and the view was amazing. Breakfast was also great, couldn't have choose a better hotel.
"Ringing in the new year"
I've been coming to Red River since 1975, first with my parents and now with my family. The past 4 years we have made it a tradition to ring in the new year at BW River's Edge. Over the past 4 decades, I have stayed at almost all accommodations in RR and hands down the owner Courtney and manager Mike, have made it the nicest, cleanest place in Red River. Not to mention they have a great made to order breakfast(great job Mark), they steps away from the ski lift, their hot tub is perfect, they are on the river. They have maintained a great family friendly environment and we look forward to our next visit. Looking forward to seeing old friends we have met over the years and meeting new ones. look no further, you won't find better place that is clean, friendly and affordable. See you guys soon.

Thank you Bert for the great review. You definitely brighten our days when you're here, and we miss you. Sincerely, Courtney and Mike
"Nice place lousy customer service"
We enjoyed our stay but had to head out a night early. We had made a three day reservation but had to head back one night soon. The hotel manager said since we had a reservation we would still be charged for the night we did not stay. That's ridiculous, we won't be back!
bwriversedge, Owner at BEST WESTERN Rivers Edge, responded to this review
You may call it lousy customer service - I call it staying true to our policy and being fair to all of our guests, especially those who would have liked to book your room for that last night, but were unable to do so because you apparently wanted to hold another night "just in case". If you'd had a true emergency that required leaving early we certainly would have worked with you, but instead you decided to try threatening us with a poor review if we didn't accede to your demands. Turns out you took the wrong approach, because I will gladly absorb a bad review rather than give in to blackmail. We cherish our TripAdvisor reviewers and hope to maintain a listing on the website, but we will not give them preferential treatment over others, as it is unfair and only corrupts the process. Thank you for calling us a "nice place" in your 1 star review (now that's what I call "ridiculous"!). It really brightened my day to see once again that our employees have excellent scruples, and refuse to yield to extortion.
"Best Value in Red River"
Hotel is the best in Red River NM. Don't waste your time or money on anything else. Best location in Red River, Best Value in Red River and Best Hotel Experience in Red River other than the skiing part.

The staff is wonderful. They actually cook a free breakfast for you. The hotel is right on Red River and only a few steps from the Ski Area. Great lobby, very clean rooms, a good value for this town. Hot tub was a relief after skiing all day.

"Great place to stay"
We have stayed at several places in Red River, and this was by far our favorite. Only feet from the platinum chair and the Lift House, right in the center of town. Very comfortable and warm rooms. The breakfast in the mornings is a great time saver before hitting the slopes, and it is really good. The chef can make some great bacon and eggs. The people at the front desk are very friendly.

"Fall to sleep with the sound of the river"
Such a great location for a night in the mountains! We enjoyed watching the snow makers and listening to the river. The ducks come up from the stream and rest in the yard and the deer walk through and hardly give you a glance. There is a beautiful trail just across the river and walking distance to everything in town.

Thank you for the review, and for helping to keep the wildlife fed - now they'll be good and fat for the winter! Sincerely, Courtney Henderson, owner bestwesternriversedge@hotmail.com 575-754-2388
"Very pleasant stay!"
We stayed at this motel 2 nights recently and enjoyed our stay very much! Our room was located on the second level and our request for a river side room was honored. Our room was clean and nicely decorated. The rustic furniture gave the room a cozy feel. The shower was great - one of the best! Towels were plentiful. Our bed was comfortable and the room was quiet and relaxing. We enjoyed the proximity to town and enjoyed our walks up and down the main street. We especially enjoyed seeing the deer that were wandering the grounds near the Visitor's Center in the evening. "Mike's Breakfast" was great! The breakfast area was a bit crowded but if it had been warmer the outside tables could have been used to alleviate the crowding. Mike was very pleasant and accommodating when he checked us in the first night, when he prepared breakfast and when he tended the fire pit outside! The only suggestion we would make is for the availability of overnight receipts or office staff in the early hours. We wanted to leave early but stayed until 7 to obtain our receipt. This was just a minor inconvenience though and we would not hesitate to stay here again in the future.

It is always a pleasure to receive good reviews in the off-season - in years past we would get dinged because the rest of the town was closed, but that no longer seems to be an issue. Thank you for letting me know about needing to get the receipt before 7am. I will make sure that the front desk lets everyone know upon check-in that for early morning departures, we do have the capability to print receipts the night before, and we can also send them by e-mail anytime. I hope you had a great trip home, and thanks again for coming! Sincerely, Courtney Henderson, owner bestwesternriversedge@hotmail.com 575-754-2388
"very Comfortable Motel on the Red River"
Overall I give the experience a 95. The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were very professional and knowledgeable about the local shops and restaurants. We loved the fire pit and sitting area right on the river. The bathroom was beautifully decorated with tile and the shower had an endless supply of hot water. The only two things I can comment negatively about is the room was a little noisy and the door had a little gap when it was closed. Can't wait to go back!!!

"Wonderful Weekend!"
My husband booked a weekend getaway for my birthday. We are touring our great state and have never stayed in Red River. We were pleasantly surprised with our motel. From check in to check out our stay was wonderful. So nice to be able to walk to just about every restaurant and downtown shopping. The fire pit on the little beach with the river gently flowing made for a perfect evening. We decided we will be back for many more wonderful weekends!!

"Third Time: Still a Winner"
In September my husband & I spent 5 wonderful days & nights in Red River. We stayed at the Best Western River's Edge for the third time & we wouldn't think of staying anywhere else. We love the convenience of leaving the car at the hotel & walking where ever we want in town & we really enjoy sitting on the deck outside our room, soaking in the beautiful scenery. As always, Courtney, Mike & Mark were friendly & courteous & made us feel very welcome. Our room was clean & comfortable, thanks to Keri in Housekeeping. We enjoyed visiting with "Super Breakfast Chef" Mark,& meeting his wife, Kat. My husband & I go on a lot of road trips & Red River is one of our favorite places to visit. The BW River's Edge is also one of our favorite hotels because of the nice accommodations & excellent service. We are looking forward to returning next year.

"cleanest motel ever"
Great location right on the river. Excellent staff with a good breakfast in a comfortable setting. Large comfortable room. I have never stayed in a cleaner room !!!! Excellent bed & great tv. You can walk to everything in town. Highly recommend this motel, definitely worth the money. steve san diego

"Great location"
The Best Western motel was clean and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. The in room tvs are awesome! They had a hot breakfast with made-to-order eggs, bacon and waffles. The location was great with the chair lift within feet of the motel. There are plenty of tables and chairs to sit outdoors to enjoy the sights and sounds of the river right behind it.

"Nice location"
The hotel is located in along the river, very nice peaceful setting. However the walls are very, very thin. You can hear the people talking in the rooms next to you or sitting outside by the river. Very annoying if you're tying to sleep. The maid service is non existent, we were there for 3 nights and they never fixed our beds or cleaned the restrooms. The breakfast is ok limited choices, cereal, eggs or waffles. The desk clerk has to fix your eggs or waffles. They don't use any type of plastic gloves on their hands to make your food. Picks everything up with their fingers and no water facility for them to wash. Watched the clerk go to the front desk to check out a customer then go back to the kitchen and grab some bacon out of the microwave and put it on a plate with eggs. I ate cereal. The rooms have been remodeled however the hotel is still old and the wiring is also old. They kept having power surges during our stay and one of these surges fried my cell phone. Be prepared to take food to either cook or eat sandwiches. We went in October to see the leaves change and most restaurants and stores are shut down for the season.

I'd like to thank you for your review, and address your concerns. Whenever you have any kind of problem while staying in a hotel, please let someone know - that's what we're here for! If you had let us know your room wasn't serviced the 1st day, I can promise it wouldn't have happened a 2nd or 3rd day. This could have also been the result of a "do not disturb" sign on the door - the housekeepers go to each room once each day and if they see this sign, they will not service the room. As for the breakfast attendant not wearing gloves - as you observed, all they are cooking are waffles and eggs - the waffles are removed steaming hot using a waffle fork, and the eggs are cooked with a spatula. Human hands never touch the food before it is served hot to you. It's a lot cleaner, safer and better-tasting than the usual buffet style breakfast, and I hope you were not turned of from trying breakfast. I really can't explain what happened to your phone, we've had no power outages recently, and our wiring is not old. In fact, we replaced every electrical outlet in the hotel just before this summer, and the plugs by the nightstands are surge-protected. A fried phone is something I would think you'd also want to bring to the attention of management before you left. I've found a lot of times a phone can cut out due to something as simple as a loose battery, or even lint in the recharging receptacle. In short, I do believe our best customers are the ones who complain, but the even better customers complain while they are here, because we will do everything in our power to make sure they leave happy. I hope you'll give us another try and put that promise to the test... Sincerely, Courtney Henderson, owner bestwesternriversedge@hotmail.com 575-754-2388
"Perfect Location"
I picked this place based on reviews from others and made a great choice. The rooms are very clean and roomy. We had a king size bed and the bathroom was huge, so we loved it. I would recommend getting a room on the front side if you're worried about noise, because it can get pretty loud in the back. The 2 guys that run it are really cool and make eggs to order, bacon and waffles every morning. There is a beautiful stream that runs out back and everyone sits around the fire pit at night. A deer came up our last night and ate out of hands. She was so sweet. We met lots of people and had a great time!

"Oktoberfest"
Once again we had a wonderful stay at River's Edge. We relaxed all weekend, spent time by the river, had a wonderful time with family and enjoyed the town of Red River. The staff at the motel are helpful, friendly, and always available. We love this motel because it is dog friendly and everyone treats our old girl like she is special. We highly recommend this great little motel on the river. The grounds are beautiful - especially during autumn.
bwriversedge, Owner at BEST WESTERN Rivers Edge, responded to this review
Autumn is also my favorite time of year in Red River, and we seem to be having an especially long one this year - the aspens are still bright even this late in October, but the snow should come soon. Thank you for taking the time to review us, and of course for your business, we certainly do appreciate that. Sincerely, Courtney Henderson 575-754-2388
"nice setting"
spent one night here in early October. our room was clean and comfortable. the hotel is on the river's edge and we enjoyed a nice fire out there as the sun went down. plenty of places to eat within walking distance and cooked breakfast in the morning. I have to mention that Mike, the manager, ran the front desk, cooked and served the breakfast, built the fire, etc. what a hardworking guy. I would stay there again.

"Touring the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway"
We had a riverside room on the second floor. The sound of the Red River and the fresh air right outside was so nice! Room was clean and pleasant. Frig, coffee maker, and coffee supplies on hand. Best of all, this hotel has wonderful management. "Breakfast with Mike" was one of the highlights: eggs to order, bacon, waffles, and lots more to get us all going in the morning. Friendly, helpful, and engaging staff with lots of tips on where to go. We got a 10% at the neighboring Italian restaurant, Capo's, another tip from Mike.
"Great 2 day stay!"
We spent 2 nights at the Best Western, Rivers Edge and found that this property exceeded our expectations. It is an older property that has been modernized very nicely. The room we were in had a lovely view of the river, and we found it to be very comfortable, clean and quiet. I feel like the management is trying to run this property like a B&B. Breakfast was included and included eggs to order and waffles. A very nice breakfast and totally unexpected. All employees were very nice and helpful.
"Unique Hotel"
Dropped in to see about availability and very lucky they had a few rooms left. We were given a room that fronts the brook that runs through the back of the property. Our room consisted of two queen beds and had all of the amenities. Our room was on the second floor which looked down on the brook. It was a lovely view. This hotel is located near one of the lifts. For morning breakfast, one of the employees takes your order and calls your name when its ready. Very unique way of serving breakfast. Its a small hotel and I would suggest making reservations. There is no elevator to the second floor, so be warned. Its a GREAT place to stay.

I especially like being described as a unique hotel, and coming from someone as well-travelled as yourself that means a lot. Thank you for your review and for all your reviews - some of them have probably helped me to find a great room as well... "Great place to stay!"
Great staff, comfortable bed, lovely breakfast. Nice fire pit in the back, lit in the evenings, right by the river. Beautiful scenery and a very nice room. I would recommend staying here. I was here for business in the fall. This is a ski town, the hotel is right next to the ski lift, also.

"Best hotel in town - Summer Wedding in Red River"
My future husband and I and our families stayed at the BW this summer over the week of July 7th - for our wedding. Not only is this the nicest hotel in town because of the rooms, view, amenities, location, pet friendly and breakfast but the management went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. We enjoyed the nightly fires in the fire pit and sitting in their courtyard on the nice patio furniture. Also, having a couple of rooms on the first floor - riverside - we had our own patio furniture to enjoy as well. I'd have to say the most courteous thing that management did for us - was after our wedding ceremony, they kindly provided us with 2 complimentary bottles of wine and wine glasses to enjoy with our family and friends. Another noteworthy thing is, we have a special needs sister and the hotel is very handicapped friendly. On the day we checked out - we needed to leave our Yeti somewhere safe (versus the back of an unattended pickup bed) and management graciously offered to let us store it in their lobby while we ran around town. They took care of our every need and helped make our special trip unforgettable! I'll always go back to Best Western!

"Mountain Retreat"
If you want to relax and be part of a great outdoor experience with fly fishing at your back door this is the place. Lots of local restaurants and variety of food. Riverfront rooms and a fire pit to sit at during the cool evenings.
bwriversedge, Owner at BEST WESTERN Rivers Edge, responded to this review
Sounds like you might have had some luck with the fly fishing - the river has been looking like an aquarium for rainbow trout all summer. I'm also glad to hear you enjoyed the fire pit (I believe it is the best investment I've ever made). We'll keep it going until it gets too cold to enjoy. Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences, and we hope to make some new ones for you next time! Sincerely, Courtney Henderson, owner/GM bestwesternriversedge@hotmail.com 575-754-2388
