Best Western Plus Portsmouth Hotel and Suites

Went for a weekend getaway with College friends. We had such a good time. I was happy to have a fridge and microwave in each room as it made it easy to store meds. Some of the group used the pool and truly enjoyed. I liked the free breakfast daily--nice way to start the day. We went during March Madness and the GM was kind enough to let us gather in the meeting room to play games while other watched the Iowa game. This was much appreciated. So we could be together. The front desk was friendly and suggested places to go and restaurants for larger groups. We had a great time this team made it hard to go back to reality on Monday!

The hotel is very clean and close to all the attractions we wanted to visit. The team there were really professional and were very helpful. The restaurant attached was a plus and had great food. The rooms were clean and fresh. Would definitely stay here again because of the team and the rooms!!!

I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews about this hotel. It's lovely! The hotel is very quiet and rooms are modern and clean. I stayed in suites both times I stayed because I'm an elite member and they upgraded me. The king bed suite is where I stayed this time in February 2024. The suite is bright, cozy, comfortable and warm. Full kitchen with the option to have dishes and silverware brought up. Not a fan of the shower in the suite, I was hoping for a bathtub. The shower also has no rack or handle inside the stall to hold or hang a wet washcloth. The guest directory in the room is outdated from 2018, and the directory lists many things incorrectly, like the updated pool hours and lack of a hot tub. Amenities include a seasonal outdoor pool, heated indoor pool, fitness center, business center, and guest laundry. Breakfast is only available if you select the breakfast package when you book. That's disappointing that they do not offer it free like most hotels, especially with this being a Best Western Plus. The indoor pool is nice. It's not too warm but also not freezing. A bit dark after sunset due to the small lights, but nice. Pool shower only has cold water, so don't attempt to use that before/after your swim. The hotel used to have a hot tub, but the area is boarded up now and has been for a couple years so it's not coming back. That was disappointing. Haven't used the outdoor pool because both times I stayed in the winter. The gym is lacking. There are two treadmills, a sad bench press with nothing besides the bench, a few weights and weight balls, a pedal machine and a bike. The exercise bike is seriously outdated and broken. It's noisy, the screen and buttons don't work well, and needs replacing. I didn't interact much with hotel staff but they seemed friendly. The restaurant next door is delicious and makes up for the lack of a free breakfast here. The layout of the hotel is very strange. You cannot access the entire hotel from the other sections. Kind of a maze. Parking is limited as well. This hotel is nice, and I don't get why there are bad reviews. It's a great place to spend a few nights.

Very nice place! Convenient to C&J Bus terminal, clean, beautiful rooms. The only negative was the scary old elevator! Lol. But it worked every time and I didn't get stuck in it! I very much enjoyed my quick visit.

Immediately upon arrival we found a roach in our room. The front desk clerk was very helpful and was able to switch us but I have contacted management several times and have not received anything back.

This is the most poorly maintained and managed hotel I have experienced for a well-known company. Management failed to respond to multiple requests for assistance in accommodations to fit our needs during and after our stay. We left in the evening and headed home!

Been using this hotel for 10 years for a scrapbooking weekend Friday through Sunday. The last 3 years with this manager have been dreadful no response set to emails or phone calls. Calling the hotel there's no answer. Complaining to headquarters gets nothing no response tgere either. No one at the front desk can fix anything. Block rate works for most but not all. Then the front desk can't adjust it. Manager won't adjust it! It's crazy. It's in a good location but that's all. I've sent an email after the event and I'm still waiting. They could even printout the detail summary for the charges for the weekend. I'm sure they charged my card though!

Gap in slide and glass door . which didn't lock let cold air in .had to stick towels in it to keep the air out . Mold growing on room wall where they apparently had a leak from the roof . Heater smelled like it was burning . Wouldn't stay here again .

The location is great for access to major roads, so easy to get to. The hotel is a little dated, but still to an acceptable level. I was given a suit, a large room with a little kitchen. I personally judge a good hotel room by the shower, unfortunately only 3stars, with asthmatic water pressure ☹️

Dirty, found items under one of the bed, no amenities, pool not working for over a week, not a green hotel, plastic cup and paper coffee cup, personal not qualified , cheap, wallpaper falling appart, and carpet really old and smelled like cigarettes, backyard was a mess, stings nest, you are better to pay a little more and go somewhere else. No room service using the covid excuse not to work…really!!

We showed up during Labor Day weekend without a reservation. Virginia, manning the busy front desk and seemingly everything else going on at the hotel, expertly and quickly helped us with our reservation and guided our room selection for the perfect couples retreat. She was kind and helpful under pressure. The hotel itself is a bit dated but still in very good shape. Great location at 95 off ramp with easy access to downtown.

Clean friendly helpful staff would stay here again convenient on off highway and state liquor store good diner next door able to sleep easily quiet despite being close to the highway a good spot will look for it again thanks

This place is disgusting…pretty sure it hasn't been updated since 1980. Water in bathroom sink didn't drain. Didn't take my shoes off. They don't provide blankets. The lobby was not inviting…old leather couches. We would never stay there again. Do not recommend

Front desk staff unprofessional and rude. Room not maintained, both thermostats broke during stay, no air conditioning, no help from hotel after reported. Carpets frayed and worn, tiles falling down in bathroom. Sad. Room had kitchenette with no supplies, had to call and wait 45 mins for a large plastic tub of supplies to appear. No where to store plastic tub, left in living room. Front desk lazy and unresponsive. Asking for dish detergent and sponge was met with no eye contact, no verbal response. Employee disappeared for several minutes and then kind of threw the items on the counter with no response. Ice machine outside room was loud and kept us up at night. No air white noise because thermostats broken. No breakfast. Paid $70 for dinner and $40 for breakfast at diner next door, food was good. Room was $300, poor value given other options in immediate vicinity. Complaints to troubled front desk staff met with response that “manager would come up to my room.” Of course, no one came. Stay next door at Holiday Inn, better service and value.

We've found this hotel to be consistently good value for the money in Portsmouth. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. Instead of the typical microwaved scrambled egg breakfast, the hotel is connected to a superb diner for easy, quality meals.

Spent two nights at this Best Western which is just off the highway. Comfortable room and coupons for breakfast at the adjoining restaurant where the food is EXCELLENT. A couple of things to be aware of if you are planning to stay here -- at the time of my stay there was no routine housekeeping.. I wasn't advised of this at check in, which would have been helpful. When I asked about it, I was told it was a COVID precaution. Also, when I booked through what I thought was BW, I was connected to a 3rd party service that charged me $15.99 for the privilege of reserving a room by phone. I was not advised that this was a 3rd party company or that there would be a charge for making a reservation. I disputed the charge and it was refunded. From now on, I plan to confirm exactly who I am talking with whenever I call for a place :-)

Shower, toilet and dishwasher leaked. Staff was very inattentive after check in. Wallpaper was peeling doors didn't close by themselves. They “forgot” to clean my room week after week. No mattress cover. Parking impossible

This hotel is just horrendous it says smoke free hotel it was disgusting the fotos are nothing to what the actual hotel is. Walk in smelled urine mildew the Libby furniture was all worn I checked in the room stunk smoke weed odor called front desk gave me key to another room in second floor, the elevator floor was sticky I thought my crocs where going to come off my feet. The second room was just sprayed with something hide the odor, went downstairs requested reimbursement was not given while we waited for receipt showing we checked out in 10 minutes a guy with a 24 pack of beer walked in with a lady that looked like a junki…. That did it, sealed it I will never again book Best Western take this hotel off your site. I have never seen a Best Western like this…. I always enjoyed my stay not here $170.00 lost that's how bad

Good location, very convenient. The cleaning crew doesn't speak or read English so it was hard to communicate any issues if you wanted certain things cleaned. Staff was friendly and always available. Would recommend.

Hotel has taken a severe turn for the worse. Upgrades done in 2019 are ugly. The suites were stripped of pots and plates and cups and utensils. There was no phone in the room. There was not enough staff to run up some pillows. The pool are is just terrible so my kids did not get the pool experience we hoped for. Rusted doors and showers and the hot tub area boarded. Gross

I stayed one night at this hotel, just to be close to the bus station and I was impressed with how clean the room was. The front desk attendant was welcoming and pleasant. I ate dinner at the attached diner which was fairly good diner food. Overall it was a comfortable stay.

Our suite included a kitchen, living room and separate bedroom. Furniture was old shabby, scuffed and mismatched. Had to ask for kitchen plates, cutlery etc. No service of the room during our 3 days with covid as the excuse. Only 2 waste cans for this large area and, of course, they filled quickly. "Just leave the garbage outside your door" was the advice....ridiculous. Lobby Furniture was visibly warn so, there goes the first impression. I don't buy the covid excuse as other hotels seem to be managing and providing service. This is a large complex with some of it already updated apparently. Our primary choice was being renovated or we would not have had this adventure. The beds were fine and the heating worrked well during this very cold weather. We won't be back.

Location is super easy to find off of 95. There is plenty of parking. The staff were very friendly. We had a suite that was more like an apartment with dishwasher and large refrigerator. Attached restaurant with 50's theme diner had lots on its menu.

Heat blew cold air, old place, not repaired. Hole in ceiling. Key did not work, had to get it re-done. No blankets, only sheets and mattress cover.....room was freezing cold! Will never stay there again.

Upon arrival I was greeted by the front desk. While checking in they made it clear that I would lose connection to the wifi is I stepped into the bathroom inside my room. They were correct, forgot this information a few days later and dropped a call the moment I stepped in. They also give you a password for the Wifi but its open for anyone to drive up and use. No phone was inside my room. The gym had one working treadmill, and the connect pool made the humidity ridiculous. Old building so it also weakens your cell phone signal on top of the poor wifi. No coupons for the connecting resturaunt to show that you're a hotel guest and receive the discount. Not a great stay overall.

Best Western was the choice for a brief overnight Portsmouth stay, theoretically leveraging rewards points the chain clearly values, so I might claim a slightly better price. And to further prove the Rewards “value,” I was upgraded by the rather surly desk clerk to a suite – which not long ago $162 with tax used to buy a suite, rewards or no rewards (especially one that was likely unsold when I arrived). Still, a comfortable bed and rock solid WIFI was all I needed, and appreciated. But then the morning came, and I bumped into a guest who I discovered was provided a breakfast voucher for the diner next door – a reward I wasn't offered. Well … I ate there the night before so ... despite not being fully rewarded by Best Western Rewards with the breakfast this price point surely should have included, it was a breakfast likely I didn't miss.

This hotel was in a semi convenient area close to Portsmouth. Walking into the city may have been possible but difficult. The room was clean and comfortable except for the duvets on the bed which are always hot and heavy. The furniture in the room is pretty beat up but there was a microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker . A very convenient restaurant was attached to the hotel for meals.

Stay here yearly. This year we booked a suite with two queen beds. The suite was recently renovated. We were very pleased with the room. The kitchen had a nice sized island with stools, a full sized refrigerator, sink, microwave and tiny stove top. The bedroom and separate living space was a lovely surprise. The bathroom shower was very modern and the beds were super comfortable. The building faced the back of the hotel and was very quiet. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Fresh coffee is available in the lobby every morning and the hotel is attach to a fantastic diner (the Roundabout). I highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in this area.

This property is misleading. The rooms are lovely, clean, newly remodeled spaces. The outside is an absolute dump. The property owner should invest in some landscaping to improve the look. This place could be a jewel on the Portsmouth Circle. As it is right now, not so much.

Extremely Pleased with this hotel .. room was top notch very clean friendly shower was great also we couldn't ask for better room or service . Staff was so friendly and helpful .. would recommend again be and again

I am a longtime Best Western rewards member. And plan to stay that way. Through my travels, I have found it to be the best value for my money---and have the amenities that I need time and again. This stay was no different. The front desk staff were very nice! This is important to me. They upgraded me as a member- and I really loved the suite! It made my stay extra special! I did not use the pool as I wanted because I ran out of time- and it was on the total opposite end of the property. There was not a breakfast- but they gave coupons for each day of my stay to use at the attached Roundabout restaurant which was really good! I got a chicken salad that was amazing- actually ate it over two meals. And they had fresh baked goods to have with my morning coffee. I would definitely stay here again! It was a great location for my seacoast travels without breaking the bank.

Stayed overnight off of the highway. Very expensive. Room was very old. Entire place smelled like old cigarette smoke. Very run down. Wallpaper was peeling off of walls. Carpet was stained. Air Conditioner was very loud. Took forever to get hot water in the shower. Bathroom was extremely small and the floor was very slippery stepping out of shower even with a towel. Will never stay here again. Terrible experience for a Best Western Plus.

Well I put my review and received a reply and an email. My review is not good this hotel smells musty and no hot water in the room and bathroom door so warped it rubbed the floor making it difficult to use, AC stopped working during the night, very dingy hotel. I was emailed by Mark the owner asking what he could to with some sort of reimbursement to get me to remove my reviews. I asked for a full refund but he has not replied.

Leisure just to visit kittery and enjoy the shore. Hotel was dirty dingy and run down. Many things not working correctly and when you give feedback on email or google you get a generic reply from supposedly the owner.

OMG, the worst place we've stayed at in years. Things that don't work include the in room phone, the listed phone number for the hotel, the TV and front desk personnel. Musty odors permeate the room and the halls. No towels were in the room when we arrived and we had to go searching hor the house keeping staff. The carpets are shabby. The signage so poor you can't find anything. The lobby looks like a worn out replica from the 1950's.

This experience had me seriously considering cashing out all my rewards points and switching to another chain completely. (With nearly 500,000 points, I've paid my dues). Hands down, the worst best western experience I've ever had. The staff was either under trained or just didn't care. I asked where I could find the gym, and so he told me how to get there. I checked it out real quick and went up to change. Came back down and tried to start the treadmill but it wouldn't start. So I switched to the other treadmill. Walked 1/2 mile then sped it up to 7mph and started running. Then it shut off and I slammed into the front of it. I asked the front desk if he was aware that both treadmills were broken, and he said he know. NO IDEA WHY HE DIDNT MENTION THIS TO ME WHEN I ASKED ABOUT THE GYM, OR THE 3 TIMES I WALKED BY. I ended up getting a gym membership at planet fitness and paying to Uber there and back every day. I asked for the dishes in the suite so I could make eggs… I had to ask 3 times over the course of 12 hours just to get them. We asked to see if house keeping would clean up the room one of the days, and they never showed up. The overall theme of my stay was that none of the staff was there to do their jobs. Whoever trains them should be ashamed.

Exceptionally Lousy. No Amenities offered, not even coffee. Hallway carpeting to room smelled of mold. We were told that was because of the age of the building. No complimentary breakfast was offered.

We stayed twice for medical appointments in Portsmouth. I booked a King room and got a nice suite with complete kitchen minus pots, pans, dishes etc. Room was clean and comfortable, bed was nice. A/c and heat worked, cable worked, wifi was good. Only problem was ice machines and soda machines were all on different floors. Check out was fast and friendly. We accidently left paperwork behind but they found it and sent it to us. The outdoor pool wasn't open yet at the end of May, we didn't try the indoor pool. Will stay there again

The location is a challenge to be honest -- but thankfully there are a couple ways to get to it off the Roundabout, and Gas stations right there as well as a diner attached. Parking lot is a tad tight- there may be additional spaces in back - Want to thank the front desk agent who gave my family 2 - 2 room suites on second floor which was thankfully very quiet as on weekends there are LARGE groups with lots of teens who stay here- so be sure and request a QUIET area-- The suite was great for a multi night stay BUT why not put 2 trash cans in the room -- we only had 1=== shower worked great-- a barn door on the Restroom area would be a great addition in this set up== kitchen had a coffee maker- full refrigerator- microwave- toaster- all perfect if you have a family or multi gen group= furniture a little worn but otherwise- the TV worked great-- no hallmark channel but lots of local interest. NO LOCAL MAPS or area maps in LOBBY_- this could be a small thing to add and not take much space-- Also a MENU for the diner in the room== and suggestedtimes to get take out-- You are outside of Portsmouth but there is a value to stay here and explore the area-- Thank you to the staff for treating me to the great rooms!

To begin with, the parking lot has one working street light. The parking spaces are not big enough for a pick up, which is important to know when you travel for work like we do. Second, the double bed room we had was on the bottom floor, it has a huge sliding glass door with a tiny lock on it. Again no building lights, anybody could walk up to the glass and get in. The room is way smaller then shown in photos. The coffee maker was in the bathroom. And if you are a decent to larger size person make sure you walk in ready to sit on the toilet because the bathroom is so small there's no space to turn around. The shower head leaks so most of the water falls directly down instead of coming out where you can reach it. I'm just beyond frustrated we spent 315$ plus tax coming to a total of $346 on a hotel that was not worth $100. If you are a young woman or traveling alone this is not a good place to stay and feel safe. Oh and the toilet seat still had marks on it looking like it hadn't been cleaned.

I made reservations for a 1 King Bed room and got a beautiful suite. The room was comfortable and secure. No noise from other rooms or hallway, no noise from outside. Cable is local for a great change, we had a good size refrigerator for ice and water We did not pay for breakfast. Plenty of outlets for chargers etc. Nice lobby to sit and watch traffic in the roundabout outside. A nice diner is connected by a hallway to the hotel. The only thing missing was a booklet with hotel information and local information.

After traveling from Florida over three days we were getting real tired of the poor quality of restaurant food being served. Restaurants are struggling after Covid. WHAT a pleasant surprise at this location the food was pipping hot and very tasty. The rooms were also comfortable making this from now on a destination for us

Choose this hotel because there was a Quilt Expo there that we were attending. Parking was the biggest issue, lots of cars and not enough parking conveniently near your room. The property was very clean and well managed. Check in and out was a breeze. Friendly staff. All amenities were functional and as described or pictures. Would definitely stay there again.

While the hotel looks a bit dark and all, the room we were in was fresh and new as could be. Very nice staff and the adjoined (but non-affiliated) diner has great food and atmosphere. Overall the building shows it's age but there is some charm in that. Plenty of parking and easy access to the major highways immediately out of the parking lot.

Rooms clean and front desk staff friendly. Did not have. A reservation and was able to get room on the spot. Travelling in winter is always tricky with predicting arrival and day depending on weather and road conditions. Being this close to interstate was helpfu.

Easy location - connected to the Roundabout Diner (fabulous) but clean and distanced experience - just what we wanted - due to Covid concerns. Bed was a revelation - we decided to upgrade our own mattress on the way home!

I had to transfer hotels because of issues and talked to GM and he got me in immediately. Room was a little outdated but was clean and comfortable. If I get to go back NH again, I will be staying here.

This was a quick one night stay. The location is good , quick ride to downtown. Check in was a breeze and front desk woman was very helpful and pleasant. The hotel is in desperate need of updating . Everything was clean but decor is old and worn and the hallways and elevator area could easily spruced up with a paintbrush. We were upgraded to a suite. Again everything very clean but just so outdated. But it was just one night. The mattress was amazingly comfortable . The toiletries were actually quite nice . All in all really wasn't a bad experience for the short $$.

Our room was great. Attractive and simple. Love having microwave and refrigerator. Able to relax; had everything we needed. Excellent value. All requests handled professionally by staff. Very comforable beds and chair. Good lighting!

This hotel is a really nice place to stay in our opinion. The facility is clean, modern and well-decorated. The low noise level is really nice. The decor based on local art and photo is also a plus. Others might find the lack of a free breakfast to be a problem but there is a nice diner attached to the hotel building and their food is both good and reasonable... So the free breakfast was not missed as far as we are concerned. My only suggestion is that it would have been nice to get a local paper but, again, this is not big deal.

I got a suite on my way to Maine, only stayed one night, but was pretty impressed with the full kitchen. Sink, refrigerator, even a cooktop. big bedroom, decent living area and pretty nice bathroom with stand up shower (no tub). Just stayed for one short night - they gave me a 10% off coupon for the diner next door too. Checking in was a lot more hand written paperwork than I expected, but that was fine. On my way out, I turned in my keys. The man at the desk asked if he could just email me the receipt. That sounds fine, so I said yes. Unfortunately I had to reach out days later to actually get the receipt, seems as if they didn't actually send it when I checked out.

John at the front desk was warm and welcoming to us as we arrived. Room had dual queen beds, two TV's and a large shower. Small kitchen area with close to full size fridge, toaster, sink and microwave! Was nice to have all this to regroup after a week of being on the road. Very nice diner located next door to the hotel for breakfast lunch or dinner. Offered us a 10% off coupon good Monday thur Friday till 11:00am. Had a walkway from hotel to diner as they offer no free breakfast, but did have coffee! We had dinner at diner and made toast in the room before our departure. Was nice to have a hotel stay with no issues and great service by all! A very nice place to stay before heading to Boston.

Stayed here after attending a wedding. Very nice hotel, great location close to the outlets and a friendly, helpful staff. I love staying with Best Western hotels because I know they always provide exceptional service and their Rewards Program is wonderful!

When you pull up to this hotel, sorry, appearances are everything. They need to do a better job with the outside. Once inside, all is well. Unless you're from New England and you are used to roundabouts, it can be a bit confusing, especially at night. I can't say I remember the room all that well. That's both a good thing and a bad thing. What I can say is it was extremely convenient to get into downtown Portsmouth. That was excellent! We only use a hotel to sleep, so it's all good. Would recommend it!

The hotel was extremely clean. There was an issue with the door locks not working. They got someone immediately to fix it. The bed was extremely comfortable . The shower was a nice size as well as the refrigerator/freezer. I would highly recommend this to anyone. Having a diner right next door and being given a coupon for it was a bonus. Not having to get in the car and drive elsewhere to eat was a plus.

We stayed one night when passing through the area and I was so amazed at how quiet the hotel was. That could be due to the fact that there didn't seem to be many guests checked in but it was close to highway and there wasn't much traffic noise. It was a 2 room suite with separate living area and full kitchen in one area and the bedroom and bathroom were in the other area. The two areas were separated by a door. The hotel was clean enough; there were a few little things like something on the microwave handle, but overall it was clean. The bed was okay; not the most comfy bed but it was fine. We slept soundly. The hotel doesn't provide breakfast but there's an on-site restaurant which we didn't visit. We were pleased with our stay.

I didn't have the opportunity to stay at this Best Western, but when my car broke down with my whole family aboard, Debbie at the front desk could not have been more welcoming and helped us through a difficult evening until AAA finally showed up around midnight. Debbie is an amazing person and Best Western is lucky to have her.

Nice place. Clean, friendly and efficient staff, close to downtown Portsmouth, easy to get in and out, reasonable pice, quiet and comfortable room. Didn't try the breakfast place next door but it looked promising. Good stop if you're passing through as we were, but would be fine for a bit longer stay.

Hotel is close to downtown Portsmouth. We got a upgrade to a suite which was newly refurnished would stay here aain. Friendly staff. Restaurant next door good food and convenient but lots of restaurants downtown.

We stayed 3 nights here, in a two bedroom suite. The suite itself was nice, with plenty of room for our family to have a comfortable stay. The kitchen great, However, we had to request the kitchen “kit” of plates, mugs, utensils and pots/pans upon arrival, it was not in the room to start. Then the kit we finally got was missing mugs and other bits and pieces, so we had to go back and request the missing items. They also appeared dirty so we washed all items in the dishwasher before using. One of the closets in the bedroom was musty smelling, so we did not use it. One if the pieces of tile base came loose during our stay. Other than that, the suite itself was fine. The other reasons for the 3 star review are the following: 1) No coffee station - breakfast is not included, which is fine since it was clearly noted as not included in the reservation. However, I would have expected some sort of coffee station provided in the mornings. This would have been nice to have, and really, pretty much a basic amenity at most hotels. 2) the outdoor pool was dirty, did not look like it had been cleaned at all during our 3 night stay, and was full of mosquitos. It was also accessed via the parking lot with no secure gate. Anyone could have accessed it from the street. One of the reasons we picked this hotel was for the outdoor pool so this was disappointing. 3) the indoor pool seemed cleaner, but lighting was really poor at night which made it feel dingy. Due to construction access was either via an open door from the parking lot or via a section of building under renovation. Again, anyone could walk in. It did not feel very secure, and mosquitos got in thru the open door. Overall I simply expected more from a Best Western Plus. The staff were generally nice but seemed understaffed at times. The building felt run down both inside and outside, and the overall experience just OK. I've stayed at regular Best Westerns with a much better experience.

Very clean accommodations. Staff is friendly and attentive. Nice location, close to downtown Portsmouth and Kittery plus easy ride to area beaches. The Round a Bout diner; attached to the BW hotel, has the best breakfast in the area. We always feel welcome when we check in!

I was in town on business and this was the hotel they sent me to. Granted, I have certainly been to worse, but this place is was overpriced for what you are getting. The rooms are hotter than molasses even with the air on. I was waking up sweating every night. The gym is falling apart, equipment is broken and sweet baby Jesus it is sweltering in there. I was especially frustrated and uncomfortable to come back from work to find they still entered my room despite the Do Not Disturb sign. This made me uncomfortable for the majority of my stay. If I were you, I would find somewhere else to stay. With the price they are charging, there is no excuse for this. At the very least, if you do stay here, least avoid the Roundabout Diner next door. Every visit was worse than the last.

Promptly upgraded to a suite which had a trace of smoke odor. Great front desk experience. Great recommendations for dinner. Cigarette buts in all trash bins in front of hotel. Not a great location. Need to drive to town.

This motel is one of the best we have stayed at. The suite we stayed in was immaculate, very comfortable and quiet. The location is also convenient and the entire staff is wonderful. Thankyou for a wonderful stay.

Had a very easy, comfortable 1 night stay for business travel. Room was very clean, staff was great and attentive. The manager was very welcoming. There were a few nice coffee shops in walking distance, which I always enjoy. I'd highly recommend!

If you can avoid the GM you maybe ok. Staff was fine, room, fair, amenities hidden behind the closed door. Don't go back there, its not safe. Do not complain because the GM will do his best to walk away.

the cutest little diner outfront, great staff and really tasty burgers! the breakfast was equally as good! and there pool is open following cdc guidelines, heated, and safe! I've stayed at many beat westerns and this is one of the best!

We just left the Best Western Plus in Portsmouth and truly feel cheated. For two days and nights, our hotel room had tepid water, if that. When we called the front desk and told her we had run the shower for over five minutes and the water was not hot, the woman said, “Let it run. If no one has taken a shower lately it will take some time to get to you.” The hot or even warm water never came. Cold showers for us for Valentines Day weekend. The weather overnight was not that cold for a New England town (20-35 degrees). We attempted the pool one evening which was tepid and pretty unsatisfactory. The whirlpool was drained. The halls to the pool and gym were being renovated and striped own to cement floors which were not very pleasant to walk through, both visually and with no heat. The gym was locked solid at 930 in the morning with no access card for gaining entrance. There was no coffee in the lobby or any other amenities. The breakfast place next door was available but it was so crowded we didn't feel comfortable entering due to social distancing practices. When we asked if we could be compensated for some of these DIScomforts, we were simply told there was “nothing (they) could do” except offer us some credit toward a future stay and “sorry”. It was truly a bummer of a stay.

Only negative was the pool could have been a little warmer and the ice machine on my floor was out of order but it was an excellent stay and a great price! I would absolutely recommend to someone in the future

From the moment of check in we were happy with the service! The hotel was super clean and all staff was friendly! The fact that there is a diner attached and a liquor store across the roundabout made our trip wicked easy to navigate. The King suite that we stayed in was superb. The only downfall was that there were no kitchen wares due to COVID :(

For a family of 6, there are few hotel options but the Best Western Plus in Portsmouth was a terrific stay for our family. The location is right near many Maine and New Hampshire attractions and easy on/off Route 95. We stayed in the two bedroom suite with kitchen and there was plenty of room for the kids and the kitchen was a big plus to avoid eating out every meal. Through the diner attached to the hotel was fantastic! Rooms were large, clean and the hotel staff was right there for every request/need. Will defiantly stay here again on our next quest to the NH/Maine area.

This hotel is clean, beautifully updated, and has a high level of personal customer service. We had a small hang-up with our reservation (that was 100% our fault and 0% the hotel's responsibility), and their staff went completely out of their way to care for us and our reservation--giving us a wonderful night's stay and rest. The location of this hotel is ideal and is easy to get to both the interstate and local touristy shopping and dining. When I return to the area, this will be my first and only choice of places to stay. I highly recommend it!

This is a nice property. Our room was clean. The bed was very comfortable and the furnishings, bedding and towels were of good quality. My only complaint is that the in room coffee is horrible and none is offered in the lobby. They also do not offer any option for breakfast other than to go next door to a restaurant owned by the hotel. We would return to this property.

The Best Western in Portsmith is an old building but appears to be well maintained. We checked in and received a suite on the the sixth floor. The setting was unusual since there were only four rooms on this qfloor. Our bed was extremely comfortable and the room clean. Due to Covid 19 there was no room cleaning during our stay. The hotel does not offer a breakfast package. Checking and out was rapid but the feeling that I got was that the process was distant

Stayed here for an annual trip. Not sure we will return. After we arrived in our room, we unpacked to find a half eaten slice of pizza in the freezer. Gross. But during reopening from a pandemic?? Hotel staff were called and the man showed up w a trash bag to remove it. When asked if he could clean the freezer he said no. Never apologized and really seemed put out by us calling to remove trash. The hotel did move us to another room and gave a gift card to an attached diner. In our second room we found an empty 12 pack of beer. I cant even describe how uncomfortable we were sleeping in beds, sitting on chairs, using towels, and wondering what else didn't get cleaned. Gross.

Our stay was great, rooms were cleaned and the staff was very helpful. If we needed anything we would call front desk and they would deliver. Hand sanitizer and mask were provided. No one were to enter the room until check out due to covid.

There is a sign in the lobby that says they have bagged breakfast. They don't. Get your kids in their bathing suits and follow the signs to the pool. Guess what? The pool door has a sign on it saying it's closed. The website says there is a pool. Shouldn't the website say the pool is closed? We went to a museum a few days ago that normally has a kids room. There are not signs all over the place that say "kids room this way" only to find it closed. The self serve soup in the cafe isn't currently available. Do you think they had the empty soup station sitting empty for me to peak into? They did not. The room was great.

Felt very safe and comfortable for out first trip out of Maine with the current virus issues. We would have stayed longer however we own a Maine business and had to return home. We will definitely use this facility again.

This is a great hotel which I have visited previously and would visit again. I highly recommend it and all Best Western Hotels. It is a wonderful part of the country to visit. We explored Portsmouth and the nearby southern Maine coast including Kittery and York.

Nice place, stayed for business, room was clean and spacious, friendly check-in, asked about local restaurants had tons of suggestions, bought breakfast through the diner next door, friendly staff-good food, enjoyed my stay. I'll be back to stay again.

This hotel is a great value with a very comfortable bed and convenient location near lots of restaurants and stores. Breakfast was tasty and check in and out process was easy. I always stay here when I travel to the coast.

I was at the hotel for a conference (I was the chair of the event). We ran into a couple of issues with an elevator and temperatures in meeting rooms. The hotel staff was great through these incidents, doing all they could to get things working again. We have used this hotel in the past, and pretty much everyone who works there is always welcoming, helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Add to that the work they have been doing on updating the guest rooms, and I can definitely recommend this hotel as a great place to stay!

Once again, this is my "go-to" hotel when I am visiting family in the area and once again the facilities, staff, convenience and rate were wonderful. It is right off I-95 so it's easy on and off the highway. The staff has been attentive whenever I have checked in or out, no matter if I've arrived late or not. The rooms were recently redone and are modern and comfortable(especially that mattress - I feel like royalty).

Very Friendly staff, very clean...our room the bed was hard..pillows needed changing ...water pressure was low and heating system only blew cold air...but when reported , staff was getting right on it...

I dont think Ill stay there again. The room smelled musty, the heater had no temp controls and either too hot or cold in room. The pillows were very small and rather uncomfortable. The location is close to a roundabout and you have to go out of your way to get to locations as its on a busy 2 lane 1 way street. On a bright side, the room was clean and the staff was amazing!

This hotel is always clean, the staff is friendly, and helpful, and the hotel is in a GREAT location. Its easy to get to, and only a short walk or uber ride to everything that downtown Portsmouth has to offer!

Dollar-for-dollar this is a great place to stay!

All very good there. We had a positive experience from the time we checked in and until we checked out and would stay again and again. Clean room, desk people nice and very convenient to everything. The people at the desk were very informative regarding lunch at Strawberry Banke. Saturday check out young gentleman was very helpful too.

We have traveled extensively in our lifetime and have always sought out a Best Western at our destinations or stopping points. They have been uniformly helpful and gracious hosts. The facilities are always clean, and mostly non-smoking. Morning buffet is more than adequate and tasty. We feel safe and secure with our Best Western Hosts.

Stayed two nights in a suite over Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Appreciate the friendly staff who had to be there over the holidays. Fourth time I've stayed at this hotel and will be staying there again in the future. Easy to access and depart as it is located right at the traffic circle in Portsmouth. Highly recommend this hotel.

I've been working out of town for a few months, going home on the weekends and every time I arrive I feel like I'm visiting family. It's nice to be an out of towner and people remember your name. More hotels should raise the bar and make this the standard

I stayed at this facility because I had to attend a conference next-door. The room I stayed in had just been recently upgraded and was spotless. The Wi-Fi was quick with no issues. The facility was nice and quiet at night with no loud rambunctious people. The only small concern I had was I could not find the ice machine and just gave up looking. No big deal because the room had its own refrigerator freezer and kitchen in it. As far as the pricing is concerned, I feel it was a little more expensive than it should be, and upon investigation I found out it was something called "leaf peeping season" apparently people drive up north to check out the leaves turning color and that seems to account for the spike in the cost of the room.

I've Businesssrayed at several area hotels for work. Beat Western is by far the best value. Rooms are big, clean, and include everthing you need like microwave, fridge, iron and hairdryer. Attached restaurant is convienient and has great food. Hotel staff were always helpful with everything I need

We visit the Portsmouth area frequently. This was our first stay at the Best Western. Couldn't be more happy with the experience. Greeted by friendly staff, the upgraded our room and gave us a nice welcome bag with water and snacks. This is our go to hotel from now on........

This is the second time we have stayed here. Its in a great location if traveling to NH or MA. The rooms are a bit outdated but super clean. We love eating at the restaurant. They have a really great breakfast and the bloody mary bar on sunday was amazing. We will definitely be staying here again.

Although the hotel looks its age from the outside, our 1 bedroom suite had been updated with a new bathroom and counters, etc. Bed was comfortable and mechanical equipment worked well. Desk staff was friendly and efficient. The have done a nice job of updating the interior of what appears to be a fairly old property - its least in the parts I was in. The restaurant next door was a diner with good food.

I stayed here on an overnight business trip. They offered me a free upgraded room and a welcome bag with snacks and waters. Very pleasant stay and staff! Will stay again, next time I'm in the area. Thank you

Could have stayed longer, but we were on last night of our vacation. Plenty to see and do in Portsmouth. Diner next door had great fried pickles and ruben sandwich. Hot tub was very hot abd pool was a good temp too.

We stayed here for 4 nights in September, we used the online check in since we were going to be arriving after midnight, when we arrived the total check in process was less than 5 minutes which was great since we were tired from our drive. the bar restaurant connected to this location is very good. Hotel is in a nice location close enough to down town to walk if you don't mind about a 45 minute walk.

We go to NH to visit our daughter, the location of the hotel is great. Always clean and friendly service. I think anyone who stays here would feel the same. You can eat right there and also the bar for evenings if you want to use it.

Even with its location, which is great, it was quiet and clean. the Pools were refreshing and staff was very pleasant. Beds and rooms were clean and comfy. Parking was a little rough later at night but still convenient.

We stayed for 10 days due to family member in hospital. Rooms were clean and was able to get 2 rooms together. Things that were broken on arrival, like 2 of 6 lights in bathroom were out, were fixed as soon as i let someone know. There is an outdoor pool area in back that was a little hidden spot to relax. Fortunately there is guest laundry, as our stay was much longer than originally anticipated. Front desk people who were especially helpful included Max and Jenna, thank you both for your help.

Each year we take an extended vacation. The Best Western Plus Portsmouth Hotel and Suites is our choice. They have a great front desk group and an excellent housekeeping group. Everything is in place for your stay and the employees do all in their power to make your stay a great experience. It is a great value for your money.

The front desk was very nice. When my granddaughter needed batteries for her camera, he gave her 2 from the back room. Beds ok place clean. My only complaints was the odor in the hallway to our room. Smelled like smoke, even though it was a no smoking area and the refrigerators had no freezers, but it looked like there was a door on that section at one time.

Our check in experience was great, quick and super friendly. They even gave us a little welcome bag with a couple of waters and snacks. As little as that may seem it shows they value their guests. The room was big and super clean. The only suggestion I had was they could use a little updating in the pool area but the pool and hot tub were clean. The check out experience was great as well, quick and super friendly.

The pools are not clean and maintained. The in-door pool smelled over whelmingly like chemicals and it's so humid in there that you can't breathe. The out-door pool had a thick black sludge all around the walls of the pool. When asked why it wasn't cleaned. The front desk said they didn't have time and it's the worst it's ever been. Asked for manager, however, manager wasn't there. Emailed manager after stay and received no response. Very disappointed!

Traveling from Lake Placid, New York to Maine we needed a hotel for one night stay on the road. We were not looking for anything fancy, basic place to stay for the night to rest before getting back on the road to our final destination. It had a pool which was good for the kids to play before bed. As we prepared for bed we found were dirty sheets and when we went called to for clean ones we realized the phone did not work. The door's deadbolt and chain were broken, so we could not secure our door for the night. As well the heavy curtains blocked the air conditioner from keeping the room cool. We stayed, as the hotel was full and had no where else to go, but we will be glad to get back on the road.

Great stay. The pool was nice. The location was really great! Only problems I had was finding parking after coming back from Hampton Beach and the beds were small with small pillows. We did eventually get parking. Other than that the amenities were great. Got a mini fridge and a microwave in room. I'd recommend staying

The curtains were blocking the AC so the room was very warm until i woke up in a drunken state of mind and used my clothes to push the curtains away from the AC vent. They need some type of hook to hold the curtains away.

A good hotel to spend the night when traveling through the USA. Meeting the standards linked to the Best Western label. Debby at the reception gave us a warm welcome. The breakfast in the house attached also deserves a positive feedback.

Staying in this property was like hot tub time machine movie, this property seems to be built back in the 70-80's since then they didn't renovate anything. I think this is the first time I can't say anything positive about something, these are the worst things I had to go through: 1- AC machine and minibar sounded like a jet engine. 2- Carpet stained in multiple places, same for some parts of the wall and the ceiling. 3- Horrible decoration. 4- My room smelled like mold or moisture.

My visit to the Porstsmouth, New Hampshire Hotel was by and large, a very pleasant one. Accommodations, appearance, cleanliness, and courtesy by the excellent staff are first rate. i'd like to see an improvement in the internet service, which worked well but was quite slow no matter when it was used, and also the addition of grab bars in the bathtubs. I've stayed at this Hotel often in the past and never had a room without them, so maybe this latest stay found me in a room that just didn't have them. Overall, a very pleasant expereince and I would definitely recommend Best Western to anyone.

Best Westerns can be really hit and miss. This was a miss- location is super sketchy near some adult and liquor stores. Everything is seemingly ok in the room, but if you look too closely, you see signs of aging/wear and tear/uncleanliness/etc. I suggest trying to find a spot closer to downtown even if it costs more!

The folks at the desk at check-in were welcoming and helpful. Overall a good experience. Diner next door was perfect for quick breakfast before hitting the road. We will be back when we visit our UNH student.

The facility was large, but gave a very personal feeling to everyone who stayed there. When I approached the desk I was immediately responded to, even if they had answered that same question 10 times. The incidentals of cookies or snacks provided a homey environment and the fitness center was dandy

Could not ask for more. Friendly knowledgeable staff, comfortable clean room, nice indoor swimming pool, especially love the warm cookies at the front desk. Would prefer hotel breakfast instead of 10% off coupon during the week for next door restaurant. But would not hesitate to stay again.

Had a great experience staying at this facility. To start, lots of parking available. Room was spotless and newly carpeted. The bed was soooo comfortably! Bathroom was new bright and clean. Very friendly and attentive staff. Have to call out Debbie on the front desk. She was a great help with recommendations for meals. Places to visit and tips on parking and getting around Portsmouth. I can tell she's very proud of her city and went out of her way to make us feel welcome! We felt very warmly welcomed on our first visit to the Best Western Plus in Portsmouth. She's definitely a great person to have on your staff! Ate dinner one evening at the diner next door. Great food, great staff and great prices. Looking forward to going back to Portsmouth and will be making the Best Western home-base again! Highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed in the remodeled side, it was great. The bed is firm and I fell right to sleep. The staff was very, very nice. The assistant executive housekeeper, I forget her name, was very nice. She gave us food recommendations, chatted with us for a minute and just all around made our stay nicer. The gentleman who takes care of the pool and hot tub was also very nice and the young man at the front desk was great too. Everything was a bit of a walk though, it took a few minutes to get anywhere in the hotel. I also wish they offered a quick breakfast because I didn't personally care for the restaurant that is connected. The staff at the restaurant was nice but the food wasn't that good and it's very expensive. My husband didn't care for it either. Overall I enjoyed my stay and the staff made it better. I'd definitely recommend staying here

Had a great stay my kids enjoy the pool and hottub that's was empty during the whole trip they had a very nice breakfast and lunch dinner next door which where we ate a nice big breakfast before our departure

Save your hard earned money. This hotel is a sore spot to the BW franchise. Run down and dirty with a rude dictator like owner. Gym and pool are are beyond breeding grounds for bacteria. Prob have never been cleaned. No disinfecting wipes in gym. Broken key card access doors to hotel. Dirty dishes in kitchenette. Horribly rude staff and owner. And they open your packages sent to hotel. Stay clear of this place

Debbie greeted us she was friendly and funny, check in was quick as I did the pre check in online the night before. She gave us water and snacks which was greatly appreciated since we were coming off a 10 hour drive. Room was very clean and bed very comfortable. No issues at all. Will definitely stay again if passing through Portsmouth.

My mother and I spent a weekend in Portsmouth as a holiday time away. I am frequently in the Portsmouth area and this is the 4th hotel I've stayed at. It wasn't a bad stay by any stretch but it wasn't great either. The hotel itself is worn but clean. I hate carpeting but that's difficult to avoid. The staff was super friendly and the location was good. If I couldn't get into my first 2 choices (like this time) I would stay here again. If they offered a Continental breakfast and updated their carpeting (or get rid of it all together) it would help improve the overall value.

I never had such issues. I asked for a quite room, and she put my in the last room ( woman traveling alone should never be in the last room) right on the round about--busy highway exchange. Then , returning from a day out, I found that my door was open all day, the pillows were tossed on the chair ( not the bed) an empty shampoo jars were left in the soap tray. wow. the hallways could use some TLC, and a big clean,. Staff did not seem to care about my issues as they barely said sorry. I think the price is ok but I would not stay again. sorry Best Western--you let me down

I thoroughly enjoyed staying at this hotel again, due to the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The comfortable king size bed and room layout. Thankful they have exclusive member parking spaces up close.Restaurant attached to the hotel is wonderful in bad weather, which we had while staying this particular weekend! I will be returning in March for another fun filled Scrapbooking weekend!

Nice hotel, just off a huge, busy roundabout. Check-in was easy and I was pleased that they gave me an upgrade to a suite (Best Western Gold Rewards member). They even gave me a welcome bag with bottled water and pretzels. The room was on the 6th floor (elevator), with a furnished sitting room, large bedroom, and a fully equipped kitchenette - 2-burner cooktop, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, coffeemaker. There were pots and pans, dishes, flatware, and cooking utensils. Large bathroom, big shower, nice toiletries. Seems like a place you would want for a long term stay. Coffee, tea, and cookies are available in the lobby. Plenty of parking in the back. My only problem was no breakfast included. They do have a restaurant. All in all, a nice place, but even a light breakfast of doughnuts would be nice. There is a Subway close by for a quick meal.

We decided to book a last minute getaway to the Portsmouth area. Our usual accommodations in downtown Portsmouth would have cost nearly $300 for 1 night, so we opted for this property at half the price. While not ideally located within walking distance of downtown Portsmouth, it is a very short drive to downtown (only 1 exit down the highway). Desk staff was very friendly. We were informed at check-in that we had been upgraded to a newly renovated suite which would keep us away from any noise caused by a bus tour that had just checked in. The 2-room suite was very clean, the bed and pillows were very comfortable, bathroom was spacious, and the water pressure in the shower was very good. The kitchenette was also well appointed. Absolutely no complaints with the accommodations and would definitely return to this property. We had breakfast at the on-site diner, Roundabout Diner. Very cute diner with that retro vibe. Breakfast was delicious....apple crisp french toast and blueberry pancakes with warm maple syrup....best I've had in a long time! I noticed a lounge/bar area adjacent to the diner which also looked inviting, but because we were there for only 1 night, we did not have an opportunity to check it out.

We decided on a last minute get away so most of the rooms in the area were booked. We felt lucky to find a room at a decent price that was clean and close to the down town area. It was clean and well maintained.

The hotel was located to a nice looking diner, upon entering the main area seemed dated with dark old carpets, and old seating areas that seemed to be made for a very old motel. Check in was smooth and easy with the gentlemen at the counter. Upon heading to our room the walls had old and dated wallpaper that needs some updating. Upon entering our room. We realize we had received a non-updated room. Old greenish carpet that seemed clean and vacuumed, with older drapes over the window. The room seemed to smell clean but felt somewhat humid, the bed looked new, but it was not. Sheets seemed to be fresh and new, and between the sheet was a blanket on the mattress. The bed itself was uncomfortable and was a awful night of sleep from waking up due to pieces of my body going numb or pressure points. The bathroom was decent. Bathtub had jets in it that I didn't care for, also because the jet ports had some old mildew, the bottom of the tub had old stains that weren't properly removed. The outside of the tub had some type of plastic interior siding lazily attached and not caulked so it was just “there”. The shower head was a little dirty with mildew on the head by the spouts. The sink had water stains and some buildup where the sink connected to the counter top. The coffee maker was old and dirty and I had no intention of using. Otherwise the room was not exceeding expectations from what I have experience with best western plus. If anything it was pretty disappointing.

This has been my go to hotel for a number of years. It's well located at the traffic circle, the rates have been the most favorable in the Portsmouth area and they have sought to consistently keep upgrading.

Great place to stay. The rooms were clean. I like that it was in the middle of everything like it was only a couple minutes to downtown and the malls near by. The diner downstairs was a good place to eat also.

Our room was nice but it was a little worn. It needs an update. We did notice that when the air conditioner was on, it smelled musty in the room. The bed was comfortable. The staff was pleasant and helpful.

Decent hotel. Check in and out were straight forward. Room was always cleaned. Was a little worse for the wear but it's an older hotel and to be expected. A couple of minor issues to note, however they are not significant. The lighting in the room was dim. Always had to turn on all the lights and open the curtains to see clearly. And secondly the toilet was a weird industrial one without a tank so to flush you always had to close the toilet seat cover to access the handle. Small things worth noting. Finally. The toiletries were nice but they were lemon flavoured. Was ok. But quite strong smelling.

I have often been a residence at Best Western Plus Hotel in N.H. I've been traveling to this city since 2013 and I've noticed improvements, both on the grounds & front desk. My last trip there was work related as were all. But its convenient to my job site and central to shopping and downtown as well. It is a very good place to enjoy while away from home,I'd say.

Convenient to shopping at outlets in Kittery, Maine, beaches, and great restaurants. Convenience of indoor and outdoor pool. Roundabout restaurant next door had great food, friendly staff. Short distance to Hampton Beach and York, Maine.

We stayed here for three nights recently (Aug 22-25) with our two daughters, most hotels near here were booked. The guy at the counter when we checked in was super friendly and check in was easy. The room was just ok, had a very damp smell and feel to it. There was no working fan in the bathroom a o taking a shower steamed it up so badly, I suspect this is why the room was so damp. By the time we left, our clothes just felt damp, even with the AC/fan unit running. I found a used bar of soap in the shower upon arrival, thought maybe it was overlooked by cleaning staff until I took a shower the next morning and noticed there was no clean bath mat and a used dirty washcloth hanging on the shower curtain. Clearly it wasn't thoroughly cleaned prior to us arriving. My kids were excited for the pool which was clean,however we had to ask for towels and the room itself is in need of major repair. Streaks of water damage down the walls, rust on the door frames and windows. There is no ventilation whatsoever so they had a door to the outside propped open which there goes your security and also lets the bugs in. There was free coffee in the lobby each morning. A nice service when they were full but we had to wait for awhile when they went empty. No breakfast due to the overpriced Roundabout Diner next door. I hope that they do some renovations as it's a great location for a hotel. A continental breakfast would be beneficial as families like us don't want to eat out at every day. I think with some upgrades it could be a much better hotel.

Nice staff, clean rooms and great centralized location! Only bummer was the restaurant next door was always too busy to visit.If I come back to the Portsmouth, NH area I would definitely look into staying here again.

We loved the beds and slept very well here. That is the main thing that matters to me when I travel. The Roundabout Restaurant is excellent and we ate there often. The indoor pool is not well ventilated and the air is extremely hot and stagnant. I could not breath in there so could not swim. The fitness center has four different machines that all work well. The air conditioner was quite noisy but kept us cool and comfortable. The room was clean and well maintained.

We have stayed in Portsmouth and the surrounding areas many times but this was our first time staying at the Best Western. The Hotel is conveniently located right in the traffic circle with easy access to the highway, downtown, and is five minutes from the Maine line. The room was very nice and well kept. It had everything we needed including a good size refrigerator with a freezer, microwave, coffee maker, desk, etc. There is an entrance to the attached diner in the lobby so it's very convenient if you're looking to not leave the hotel for breakfast or dinner. Everything you'd expect, indoor pool, hot tub, sufficient parking, etc. Staff were very friendly and helpful and we experience no issues during our stay. Would gladly stay there again the next time we are in the area.

Convenient location off highway. I was upgraded to suite as a BW rewards customer. The room was nicely appointed & appeared to have been recently upgraded, very clean & comfortable. The suite had a kitchenette, comfortable living room and separate bedroom. The bathroom area was spacious.

Very good room. It was neat and cool during the heat wave - - but the hallways are very hot. The pool was clean and lots of fun for my two daughters. But for the detached nature of the front desk staff I would probably give this place 4 or 5 stars. Explanation: When we arrived on Friday August 3rd and I was trying to bring my bags to our second floor room I discovered that the elevator was out of order. When I went back to the front desk and asked them if there was another elevator the man at the front desk said "no". He did not even lift his face from his computer screen or make eye contact with me... nor provide the any kind of apology for our inconvenience. It was obvious that he simply did not care. I was not too upset . . . but I was thinking about what a challenge this would be to a handicapped person or an elderly person. But the house keeping staff was very good.

Quite a few things that spoilt our holiday experience.at the best western plus.portsmouth hotel and suites. .first we booked connecting rooms.reason for this my mother is 85.we where put in rooms second floor. My mother has a pin in her right leg.85.plus heat.not good. Reception staff not good at people skills. .the lift was out of order.asked young woman on reception.could my mum get a ground floor room.well dont want to go into detail.but all i can say NOT HELPFULL. .in our room we had insects comeing in.we where bitten.on few occastions. Bathroom.was not good.( we have photos) of bathroom. Also other photos.of lift (not working) .we had a fire alarm on the 7th august 2018.arround 01.00 am. No member of staff present.ie reception Nor outside with guests.my mother was outside.young children etc. NO MEMBER OF STAFF.OR A DUTY MANAGER. there are a few health and safety matters. That i find very disturbing. (Photos are available) I have sent email to the GM.mr mark woolley. Not a good response.from him. Not a good stay.cant recomend this hotel. I have 25 years experience in hospitality. I have been myself guest team member.then to bar manager.then to F&B manager.ran bars.restaurants.worked in housekeeping and other deparyments.to get experience.etc.

Great location. Quiet even though located at major rotary. Clean. All good here but the friendly staff stand out. Manager (Ashley) was very pleasant. Desk staff was welcoming and helpful. Diner next door was a nice plus. Given the value, proximity and staff - we'll be back.

We booked this hotel for a wedding party. When we arrived we checked and and went to bring out bags upstairs only to find the elevator was broken. We got into the room through sweltering hallways and discovered there was no place to hang a wedding gown. The room was dark and even with bringing in additional lamps from adjoining rooms - make up application and wedding prep was difficult. I have a bridesmaid who's son has severe asthma and they were put in a room with mold. There were however moved with no issue. The roundabout diner was incredible though. They were able to handle a group of 22 for breakfast and their bloody mary bar was so good!

Thefamily stayed here while exploring the NH and Maine seacoast. Not the most convenient location for attractions but good for launching out each day. It is a short driving distance to area shopping and sites. The hotel could use remodeling but overall was ok. I've been in worse and seem to think that New England hotels are all kind of worn down. Anyhow the staff were great and the Roundabout diner was real good. There is no continental breakfast by the way. The bed was a little hard and the bayhroom ceiling had water damage and was crumbling. Wallpaper around the window was peeling. The ac was tempermental too. It would sut down at night and we would wake up roasting. FYI it is tough to find hotels at reasonable rates in the seacoadt area during peak season. We list some money in the recycling bin in our room and the housekeeper found it and returned it to us with a note. Honesty is hard to come by these days.

Stayed minutes from downtown Portsmouth at this Best Western. Many of the rooms are under renovation so they are upgrading. We used points and go the first night free. They also upgraded us to a suite which was really nice. There is no lounge or food because there is a very popular diner on the property. Indoor and outdoor pool and hot tub. We used Uber to get downtown each night for only $6.50 each way. This was awesome!

Only 15 minutes walk from harbor and city center. You can go fancier and closer to harbor but save yourself some cash and spend it on a nice meal. Diner adjacent to hotel is excellent for breakfast lunch or simple dinner. Staff was tremendously helpful in where to go and how to get there.

We stayed at this hotel over Memorial Day weekend. The room was just okay, the bathroom and especially the tub were dirty. There was broken furniture and a run down appearance. We planned on using the pool, but there weren't 4 chairs to sit on in the pool area. We also had issues with our bill. The only positive of staying here was the cute, wonderful restaurant attached to hotel.

If you are looking for a solid place to stay, good amenities, great location, and a fantastic diner attached then you cannot go wrong with this location. The check-in process was simple/easy and the staff behind the desk were fantastic and funny to deal with. We were in room 381, which has a wonderful view. That is, if you like a view of the highway entrance (not complaining at all, just know you are not getting this hotel for the view!). Room was what you would expect from a mid-scale hotel. Very nicely appointed, very comfortable king size bed, and clean. The only negative that I can think of was the shower sounded like a pregnant goat yelling at her kids, but nothing that really distracts from the experience. Outdoor pool was nice (could use a little cleaning with the leaves and stuff from the trees), but overall was nice to cool off in! Hotel was quiet at night, good sleeping kind of quiet, and the check out process was nice and easy. I really don't think you would go wrong staying here as it is a great location with easy access to the highway and to downtown.

This hotel is very strategically located for the traveller going north or south, it's just off interstate 95. Very clean and helpful staff with knowledge of area, plus onsite diner with wonderful pies & excellent menu.

About 10 min from historic section. Free parking, comfortable beds, nice indoor & outdoor pools and a hot tub. I also noticed BBQs outside, you should ask if they are available for use. The outdoor pool had a nice privacy fence. The front desk has a nice Restaurant list they give out. Diner next door was good for breakfast but if you are on a hard budget, I might get some cereal and milk for the in-room fridge and try them for dinner. Summary: the next time my travels take me to Portsmouth I will likely stay here. Part 2: My son accidentally left his "Bunny" in the bedsheets causing all of us some anxiety. We called daily and just when we thought we were getting nothing but the runaround - Bunny was found! Thank you!

Stayed here for two weeks. It's right off interstate 95, route 1 and 16, plus just four or five minutes from downtown. Very friendly staff at front desk, who are willing to help and offer their knowledge of the surrounding area even up to 100 miles away. We were very impressed with their willing to help and offer info on places we inquired about that were on our travel list. Free coffee in the lobby each morning. For breakfast you need to go elsewhere, even just right next door to the 1950's style restaurant. The rooms are just average. There are two swimming pools, one inside and the other outside. There also is a laundry room for those who wish to wash the clothing. the laundry room has two washers and two dryers, all worked well, but the small room does not offer any paper towels to wipe down or clean up after one's self or others, that should be improved or have the cleaning staff stop in there once a day, as that appear to not being done. If I was in the immediate area again, would I stay there again, the answer is yes!

Arrived late on a Sunday night, greeted warmly by a personable front desk staff member who acknowledged my Best Western Rewards membership and directed me to my room. Room was clean and well appointed. I have been traveling a lot this Spring and that mattress was the most comfortable hotel mattress I have experienced. While I was not there long enough to use the amenities of the hotel, I would defiantly recommend this hotel for its location, Wi-Fi, pleasant staff and very clean and comfortable room.

This is one of my favorite locations to stay when I come to Portsmouth. Great staff, rooms are clean and comfortable. Rooms are up to date, spacious, and some even have jacuzzi tubs, which is a nice perk for a tired business traveler.

We found our bathroom dirty and trash from previous people in the room. Waited to check in , staff not professional. Housekeepers never did get the bathroom clean. The traffic circle coming off the interstate was difficult. Thankfully GPS could get us in the back way, which was much easier. The diner next door was surprisingly good. Over all we got what we paid for.

I had a very pleasant stay. Hotel was clean and close to Portsmouth downtown attractions, restaurants and Portsmouth High School. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The kids enjoyed swimming in the indoor pool and relaxing in the hot tub. There is and exercise room and I was able to run on the tread mill in the morning. There is complimentary coffee, tea and hot chocolate in the lobby. It is conveniently next to the Round About Diner where we were able to get breakfast in the morning.

Stayed for an overnight trip to University of New Hampshire. The room was clean and quaint. They have an adjourning restaurant that is like a 50s diner that served breakfast (it also served dinner). Did not stay on the circle side. They had us on the long walk towards the back across from the pool. It was quiet and one did not hear anyone playing in the pool. Check-in and out was quick and front desk staff was helpful with directions. It was easy to find as it was just off the Interstate and within 1/2 from the University. The hotel offered free WiFi as well as a gym. It was extremely to navigate to and from.

When looking for a motel, we were looking purposely for one with a hot tub. Being a 50th birthday trip, we both needed one. The only downfall was when going to hot tub there were very inconsiderate young adults there..

I was at Best Western for a Scrapbooking event. We had an awesome stay! Have fresh hot coffee available in the lobby was great, the public restrooms were very clean as well as the lobby and hallways. Our room was comfortable,quiet and clean

A bit dated, but everything in working order, good heat, wifi, gym, indoor pool. Affordable and convenient to downtown Portsmouth, Kittery, and Rt. 95.The building sits next to a great diner rated by Buzzfeed as "one of the top 20 diners to visit before you die." The food is very good. It has a lounge with a full bar in the back as well.

Best Westerns have been getting better. This one is not fancy, but it's clean and -- importantly -- they just replaced all of the mattresses. Makes BIG difference. Stayed at another hotel and the beds were so mushy it was hard to sleep. The people here are nice too. We come every year for an event and always enjoy our stay. Having the AWESOME RoundAbout restaurant attached is a BIG plus too! The only reason this one is inexpensive is location; the hotel is comparable to many priced around $150 / night.

I had a very nice stay. I left suggestions for the fitness area but it did serve my needs. Front desk and house keeping were very nice and helpful. It was nice to have the round about restaurant right next door when the blizzard came. They were very good too.

Nothing fancy really but for an overnight stay, no problem. Bed didn't look comfortable but it was. Pillows small for a king sized bed but we'd brought our own so it was fine. Bathroom faucet could use an upgrade. Staff were friendly. Coffee was good. Overall it is good value. We missed the free breakfast but there is a diner next door. We ate a late lunch there and the food was good. I felt the prices were a bit high for a diner but as always portions are large so you do get your money's worth.

A few wonderful days in Portsmouth made all the better by our incredible suite. Was bitter cold and the room was always nice and warm and we had an unbelievable view of the gorgeous full moon, made for a very romantic evening.

This hotel is comfortable, clean and friendly. When we are in the area visiting family in Kittery and York Beach, Maine, this is our home-away-from-home. Also close to Kittery Outlet malls. We always feel very comfortable staying here -- and the Round-About Cafe has good food and great staff.

Very friendly staff, clean rooms, restaurant and lounge off the hotel..close to down town. Very accommodating to needs. They also have a pool and hot tub..out door pool also! Fitness center, and some rooms have jacuzzi in the room!

Clean modern hotel. Off season rates were very reasonable. Pleasant, efficient front desk staff. No complimentary breakfast was offered. Hotel is a few miles away from downtown Portsmouth - about 10 minutes, but on the other hand it's very convenient to major highways.

We stayed only one night at the Best Western Plus in Portsmouth, but wish that we could have stayed longer! Our room was spacious, clean, and with one of the most comfortable hotel beds we've ever slept in! This hotel does not have an in-house restaurant, but there is a restaurant right next door, and a discount coupon for dinner was given upon check-in. We didn't try the next-door spot, but chose instead to go downtown and try one of the local eateries. We look forward to booking a return visit.

We have stayed at this hotel over the years attending many 3 day Scrapbooking events. The staff & settings are always A+ making it a fun, enjoyable experience! The location is perfect and having the wonderuful delicious diner connected to the hotel is an added bonus!!

This is my third scrapbooking weekend at the Best Western. As always I had a wonderful time.. The scrapbooking room was set up for us to be able to sit with our friends. with plenty of lighting and space to walk around. The Round About Dinner, which is attached to the hotel has a wonderful selection of comfort food,

The place was clean, check-in was quick and easy and even received a goodie bag with water and snacks. Gentleman at he front desk was very friendly and accommodating, wish I remembered his name. Attached restaurant made it convenient for our dinner and breakfast.

Pensioners paradise noisy inconsiderate O,A,P,S make nice peaceful weekend a night mare,couldn't sleep for noise,move out on Sunday, they wasn't to bothered we were going elsewhere,as the large groups of noisy residents were staying TIL the Monday and they couldn't move us

This Portsmouth Best western is clean and has the amenities I need for my local business travel. The Hotel staff are friendly, and always do a great job making sure to accommodate my needs when I am in town.

Shopping trip with my daughter. Visited the Kittery Outlets and the Fox Run Mall. Had a delicious dinner at the Roundabout Diner. The hotel is well maintained and everyone was really friendly. The room was spotless! One of the cleanest I have ever stayed in. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Found the hotel staff to be very nice. Enjoyed Jacob at the Front Desk very much. Strange that breakfast isn't included but the diner style restaurant there is really good. My room was clean and comfortable. Thanks for making my visit to Portsmouth a good one.

Came in on Halloween night with no reservations and were treated like royalty. Were upgraded to a suite on the 5th floor which was awesome. Pool sure hit the spot after a long day of driving. Nice diner attached to hotel.

A fairly clean and comfortable place to stay (needs some updating). Restaurant next door services good food, portions are large (great for sharing if you have a small appetite). We had a 2 bedroom suite and it was very spacious (great for relaxing after a full day of sightseeing). Good location for day trips to lower coast of Maine and New Hampshire.

Room was clean and staff was very helpful. All questions were answered and any special or extra needs were taken care of quickly. Plenty of things to do close by. Access to highway and surrounding areas are very easy.

Great stay! Just don't forget anything:( The suite was spacious and functional! Perfect for a girls getaway. Everything in downtown Portsmouth was just an Uber away. We will definitely stay here again. On the down side; you can't even check in 30 minutes early without paying an extra $30.

The room had a recliner, a desk & chair, two night stands, a refrigerator & microwave. The only negative was the shower in the Jacuzzi tub. The front of the tub was higher and wider so it was difficult to get in and out of. There was nothing to hang on to because the only grab bar was at the back of the tub - 4 foot from the front of the tub. This was very difficult for my husband. I wish they would have asked us if we wanted a Jacuzzi tub. There was an attached restaurant and, in spite of the 50's diner look and small, the food was good. We had dinner and breakfast there. Be warned, it was cold in there.

We needed a place to stay on our way to Boston from northern Maine. The hotel was conveniently located right off the highway. It was very close to several area attractions. Our room was clean and comfortable. There is an indoor pool and spa available.

Its an average room with a small pool. Reasonably clean and comfortable, but dated furnishings carpet, and plumbing fixtures. Resturant is adjacent, but no food of any kind in the hotel...not even a concession machine in the building...coffee is all that is available in the mornings...and it was empty most of the time. Very very average or below for the price.

Only stayed one night on our way back home but it was a nice place. We got there late in the evening, check in was smooth and the gentleman at the desk was very nice. Room was very clean and we got a good night's sleep. Hotel is conveniently located, it's a short drive to downtown.

The room was clean and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The hotel is in a good location for our weekend getaway. Check in and check out were very easy, and the online check in e-mail was helpful. Will stay here again on our next trip to Portsmouth.

Despite using the hotel app to find the site, it was difficult to enter the property. This was due to going around a round-about and needing to make a very quick turn. It would have been helpful to have that pointed out. Average. Not what I have experienced in other Best Westerns.

I visit New England usually about once a year if not more frequently. In the past couple of years I have stayed at the Best Western in Portsmouth. The price is right, especially when compared to the tourist prices along the coastal area. The motel is very well ran: clean rooms and good service. The restaurant next door has good food, though it is a little higher than a typical non-tourist restaurant, but not as high as many of the restaurant in the area.

Hotel is fine, nothing wrong with it, just not great. Poor sound proofing so you can hear everything in other rooms and hallway. Many rooms also have a step down into the hallway that seems a bit dangerous. Rooms are basic and clean, gym and pool looked nice, but didn't use it. Staff were helpful and friendly. No major issues, just seemed a bit under the quality I would expect for the price.

Planned a vacation away to Maine with Husband. We decided we wanted to cut our drive time so we left after work and planned to stay in Portsmouth overnight. I booked wrong date. Attendant was great and found us a room and helped my mistake and stress disappear. Room was comfy. Restaurant was fun. Will stay again.

This worked well for us. We were on a road trip so was a convenient location off of I95. Room was your normal BW...comfortable, king bed, amenities, etc. No breakfast included but restaurant right next door. A short 5-10 minute ride to downtown. Many great dining/drink options down on the waterfront of Bow and Ceres Sts. We found it a bit tricky to locate the hotel when returning from downtown but not a problem. Portsmouth's restoration is great to see...some beautiful historic areas. For those who might be interested, the NH Liquor Store is located nearby the hotel.

Visited UNH in Durham, NH for Homecoming/Parents Weekend and the BW in Portsmouth, NH was a great pick. Friendly and supportive staff, clean and roomy accommodations. Service at the front lobby was excellent.

Bathroom vent didn't suck the steam, after a week there was a musty smell. Housekeeping took my dirty clothes that were in a pillow case. I told the front desk multiple times, no resolution... GM has a business card with the front desk # as his contact. Didn't respond to my email. The only reason I'd recommend this hotel is because of the rewards program.

Had the best stay at the BW in Portsmouth. Can't think of a single thing to complain about. Now THAT's amazing! The staff, the cleanliness of the entire hotel, the fitness room, the coffee, the spacious rooms all made my stay the very best.

We went to Portsmouth to visit my daughter. It was a great place to stay. Centrally located, clean, has a restraint and bar lounge. The staff we very friendly, they greeted us every time we were seen. I would definitely stay there again and tell anyone to stay also

The Best Western in Portsmouth was very nice. Clean rooms, great staff. The city center is not far away and offers unique shopping and dining experiences. Plenty of history to explore as well. I recommend this hotel and Portsmouth!

Shared a two bedroom suite with another couple. Their room had a closet but we didn't have a closet or an armoire. No place to hang clothes. House staff left towels but didn't make beds or clean the room.

Stayed at this hotel with a wedding group. Wedding was at 3 pm in the afternoon - asked for an early check in to change and get ready to attend the wedding. No way would they grant us an early check in even though I requested it 6 weeks in advance when I made the reservation.. They could care less.

Close proximity to downtown. The room was clean and I would stay here again if I come back to this area. Annie in Housekeeping was helpful with directions and local restaurants - LOVE her Scottish accent! You may find it hard to catch her though....she's a fast one! :) The staff was very friendly and helpful! Good choice!

We wanted a place to gather our family visiting the area's Seafood Festival and Oquinquit Theater. My daughter found a very nice suite of rooms at the Best Western. We had two bedrooms and a common area which were very clean and comfortable. The hotel is a bit dark and dated, but we enjoyed our stay. It was a good meeting spot for us. The staff was quite pleasant and a nice weekend was had by all.

Great place to stay! Front desk staff (Especially Tammy) very, very friendly and accommodating!! Rooms clean & quiet even received an upgrade to a suite!! Great experience will definitely go back and recommend to anyone!

We stayed at the Best Western over Labor Day weekend. We chose this spot becasue it was within 15 minutes of Rye Beach (whereteh surf is amazing) and very close to great restaurants in downtown Portsmouth. Traveling with 2 kids (14,11) a typical hotel room os too small. The 2 BR suite gave us so much room- 3 beds , 2 bathrooms, and a kitchen. It was much closer to small apartment with hotel amenities. The kids also loved the indoor pool and hot tub. The adjacent restaurant is also a fantastic diner with an eclectic menu and full bar.

It was a great stay! We had no problems. Nice free cookies at check in and tasty coffee in the lounge. I liked the bedsheets and the bed was comfortable as well. We didnt use any of the amenities so can't comment on those.

This hotel is located right off the Portsmouth NH traffic circle. The traffic circle gets popular in the afternoon - put on your turn signal and merge! Room was very clean & quiet. Close to downtown historic Portsmouth and just a bridge away from Kittery Maine. Front desk gives a discount coupon to the adjacent diner.

It's Unclean and not secure. I would not stay here again. It smells -the doors are unlocked so anyone could come and go as they please. Dead spider in the bathroom. It was not all that cheap neither. I wish I would have gone somewhere else.

We stayed one night here on our way up to Maine. The room was spacious and clean - though very dated. We did not use the pools, but did see them both and they are smaller than they appear on the website. If I am back in the area, I would probably find somewhere else to stay.

Stayed at the Best Western Plus at Portsmouth Circle. Very nice. Clean, friendly staff, comfy beds. Not your typical rock hard pillow. Easy access to the highway and downtown Portsmouth. No sales tax in NH and easy access to Maine. Would recommend a stay here if your in the area.

stayed here 3 nites. Centrally located to Kittery, Portsmouth, Kennybunkport and other places close by. Hotel very clean and staff friendly. Diner next door was very good. Would definitely stay here again.

Checked into the Best Western Plus Portsmouth mid August for 4 nights. The hotel was neat and clean. The roundabout was right next door, which was great for all 3 meals. We traveled with our 2 kids, we were able to have a crib sent up to the room. The room came with a mini fridge and a microwave which was extremely helpful with the youngsters. Would recommend to anyone with kids for sure.

I've been to Portsmouth a number of times and have mostly stayed in hotels that are right in the market area. Due to a last minute decision to go to a concert at Prescott Park, it was hard to find a room within the center of town. Thus, The Best Western. We arrived late in the evening around 10:30, and there was not a parking spot to be found. There were many for the 'diner restaurant' next to it but hotel guests are not allowed to park in those stalls. Checking in was very fast. We had two cars and were told that we had to park in their parking lot extension that was on its own behind the side of the hotel. There were no other cars except for ours which we parked under the lamp post. It just didn't appear to be safe. I decided that they must have cameras or security that makes the rounds outside during the evening hours. None-the-less, our cars were perfectly fine in the morning. The room was very clean and comfortable. I'm the kind that wipes down everything before I settle in with antibacterial wipes; so cleanliness is a big plus for me. The easy chair seemed to be somewhat worn with the material wrinkled from use on the seat and back cushions. The bathroom was very clean with a good amount of towels, soap, shampoo, etc. A very small coffee (Keurig type) was available in the bathroom. The refrigerator was a bit larger than the ones you would normally find in hotels. We were able to put the items from our cooler inside which was great! The mattress was super comfortable with pillows that would give anyone a choice depending on likes/kinds. I had a great night's sleep! The air conditioner was loud compared to other hotels/rooms I've stayed in. It did its job though and kept the place cool. We had a AAA rate and it was close to $160 before tax, etc. So, not the least expensive but definitely a good rate considering it's on season at the moment and many hotels ask for a lot more. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised. Given its close proximity to the market area of Portsmouth you'd still save money even after paying for an all day garage in town by staying here. I'll definitely stay here again.

was a great hotel .well located only stayed one night but would stay there again.short walk to town only wish they had the free breakfast but there is a restaurant attached .easy access to the freeway.

I stayed here after being in Boston and befor driving north along NH-16. I found the room and bed comfortable at this hotel and the wifi fast enough The attached restaurant, where hotel guests get a 10% reduction, had a range of options, including tasty specials that go beyond the usual diner fare. On leaving the hotel a member of the housekeeping staff, a young lady with an Eastern European accent, went out of her way to chase after me as I had forgotten something, Her helpful attitude reflects well on her and the hotel.

We stayed here on our way to Canada. They had a nice private pool and Jacuzzi that was open late. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. There was not a free breakfast but there was a restaurant next door with delicious food!

not far from downtown Portsmouth, parked in metered lot, walked through the town, historic homes, brick sidewalks, harbor-views, visited USS Albacore, Fort Constitution and Light House, 1950s diner next to BW.

I have Parkinson's Disease. I had an episode and could not attend the funeral of my brother, which was why we were there. The night manager let me stay in the room until 2pm when the service was over and I could catch my ride home. Very nice

Great front desk service at check-in. Suite was very clean, beds were comfortable and decent personal amenities. The food and service at the diner next to the hotel was wonderful. Food was delicious and well-priced. Service was quick and efficient.

We stay in Portsmouth at least once a year and consider the Best Western our home away from home while we are there. The rooms are always clean, the staff is friendly, and we get a great value for our money.

The best Western Plus in Portsmouth, Maine was clean, comfortable, and relaxing after fighting the traffic through Boston. The staff went out of their way to accommodate us. They even had nice fresh cookies and coffee at check-in. "Wow" how nice is that!!!

We enjoyed our stay. The decor was a bit outdated but the rooms and hotel were very clean. Good location, 5 min from downtown Portsmouth and 5 min from Rye beaches. It was one the best priced hotels we found.

My stay was just wonderful. The staff at the front desk is caring, helpful and wonderfully accomodating. I will most definitely refer all my friends to stay at this hotel. My favorite part of the stay was the amazing singer at the front desk!!!

The two bedroom family suite was very nice, with a comfortable king bed with attached bath on one side of the living room/kitchen and a large room with two queen beds with an attached bath on the other side. Our family enjoyed our stay.

We booked the night before while on the road and were pleased to get a room for under $200. However the hotel has seen better days. The pros - easily located off highway and at the time was a relatively cheap option. The front desk staff were pleasant and they offer complimentary bottles of water and a small bag of pretzels, The cons - the rooms were not very clean. My slippers were sticking to the bathroom floor (how gross). The mattresses were worn and sunken. Exercise room closed at 10 pm. I'd stay elsewhere if I had a choice.

Average hotel room, not worth 225 with tax though. Sort of strange how they won't let you pay the night before, that you pay at check out. Overall okay but still wouldn't want to pay as much as I did for what we got out of it

All the staff members were very friendly and welcoming throughout my stay! Constant smiles and welcoming remarks when entering and leaving the building. The hotel was also very clean. The exercise room was kind of wet when I went to use it, because it is located by the pool. Other than that I really enjoyed my stay and the great access to the Round-about-Diner!

Very dirty, mold on the bathroom ceiling, bad odors...not even worthy of a rating- will never even consider you ever again...run fast. The price went down forty dollars overnight and would not even consider a small consideration.

This hotel was just average--and the furniture was outdated. We stayed in a suite with a kitchen, which was nice amenity to have. The hotel was clean despite the outdated furniture. The showers were good with great water pressure. However, in a suite with two bedrooms and two bathrooms and sleeping accomodations for 6 people, they had put only two shampoo and conditioner bottles. If you're a best western member, you get complimentary snacks and water bottles on arrival. However, that wonderful suprise was dampered by the subsequent rudeness of two front desk staff when I used garbage can by the complimentary coffee area to dispose of coffee I no longer wanted--which is odd given that there was no other place to throw out unwanted coffee. Seems like they should put out a pail for liquids by the coffee area if they don't want guests to use the garbage can to dispose of liquids or at least put up a sign.

Very outdated, dirty hotel. Staff was slow and unhelpful. Interior need major renovations. Slow erratic internet and cable. Mildewy smells. Strange room layouts. Back door never locked. Room keys didn't work.

Great location, excellent staff and front desk check in was smooth, very accomodating. The restaurant / Diner next door was open late , great food and service... it was good to have this close by after a long day of driving..some minor items with one of the AC units in Room but was handled. I would def stay here again...

OK, the hotel was decent for the price of the room. We booked and received a two queen bed suite with a kitchen. So, for a family of 5 it was great. The room is a mix of modern updates and still stuck in the 70's motel. The coffee table and the counters were all marble. But the wallpaper looked original and started to peel, was faded, and stained in places. There were stains in the ceiling from water issues. Overall the room was clean, close to the highway, and close enough to Portsmouth if you do not mind a 15 minute drive in. We did not use the pool. It was not really clear to us how to get to either one so we passed plus we were there to visit the city. We had an issue with the AC unit in the bedroom of our suite. The maintenance man was responsive and helpful. I feel like the issue should have been caught by the staff prior to our arrival since the outside temp was in the high 80's/low 90's. The beds were comfortable.

Room was sufficiently clean, plumbing needed just a quick fix, household staff wonderful, as was desk staff. Diner right next door was the crowning touch...great food, great prices, very friendly and accommodating staff there as well. Overall, a great experience in spite of minor shortfalls in the room.

We spent three days in Maine and this was a stop before going to Boston. Not wanting to pay the high prices in Boston this hotel is located just off the highway and an easy drive to many historical sites and activities! The hotel has an exceptional staff, nicely decorated, comfortable rooms, and a map to get to many activities and restaurants! We ate at Surf for dinner! Highly recommended! We will stay here again.

A good greeting on arrival and staff very friendly. A nice room on the top floor. Not overly impressed with the breakfast offered at the adjoining restaurant - you don't get much of a choice and think they could easily throw in the juice as well. Staff at the hotel were particularly helpful in telling us where to eat etc downtown. Jacob was excellent.

This is a great place to stay for business or vacation. Great staff good food near by and a nice workout facility. Rooms were clean comfortable and well priced. I will be staying here again next time I'm in town.

Decor was dated, mattress and pillows were worn out, bathroom wallpaper was falling off, there was a hole in the bathroom wall due to a water leak, and the room was damp. However, the room was clean. Parking was terrible.

I made an error on my check in date. I was able to have it changed without difficulty. the front desk staff was very kind and helpful. In the future when travelling I will be staying at a Best Western is for me. it was a great pleasant experience,

This is not a Best Western Plus type property. Stayed at many B W Plus properties. Bathroom ceiling had mold cracked and brown stains. Same trash by entrance door for two days. Littered with cigarette butts around door. No breakfast. Need to eat next door.

The main lobby had an unpleasant smell and our outside room did too. As soon as I turned on the water to shower, it began accumulating in the tub snd I stood in water during the entire shower. Had to get out to wash my feet as I don't consider them clean in standing drain water. To make it worse, I saw two used washcoths hanging over the shower rod (while in the shower) that weren't ours. Two outlets were hanging loose on the wall. My feet were sticking to the floor in front of the sink. They were when I switched shoes too so it was the floor. The location has little to offer by foot, so you have to drive to enjoy what's available. You can tell some renovations have been made, but surely you can do better in this beautiful New England town.

We always stay here when visiting Hampton Beach. The hotel is well kept, staff is friendly, beds are clean and comfy. I always get a good night's sleep here. I can't say that about many of the "beach" motels. Has indoor pool ...nice if the weather does not cooperate.

Stayed a few times before and the experience was always good. The hotel has a diner and is located right of the main thoroughfare making it easy to get to where you need to go. The facility is maintained well an the staff is always friendly. I would recommend others to stay here.

This Best Western was the most comfortable hotel I have ever stayed in. The room was spacious, clean and the beds were very comfortable. The location was perfect located just off Rt 95, but very quiet.

Okay hotel. Staff were very nice, but rooms were out dated and dark. Walls were somewhat thin and you could hear those around you. Bathrooms lack ventilation, very hot. Bed was ok with small pillows. Expected a bit more with what we paid.

Large rooms with refrigerator and microwave. We were fortunate to get a handicap room so the bathroom was extra large. Debbie at the front desk was extremely nice and very friendly. There is a coffee station in the lobby which enables you to get coffee day or night. It's great. Would return.

The hotel, especially the upstairs rooms, are nice and the restaurant next door is very good, making for an easy stop along the highway in Portsmouth. Unfortunately, while I was there my husband had to be hospitalized (at the nearby regional hospital), so I stayed more days than previously planned. The manager and staff couldn't have been kinder or more helpful. This really made a difficult situation more bearable. I am so grateful to the people who work there for going out of their way, so I definitely recommend the Best Western in Portsmouth.

Have used this Hotel for many years on my way to Boston. Very nice and comfortable. Micro and frig. a real plus. Will continue to use this Hotel. Close to stores, gas and anything you might need. Very pleasant staff. Parking when Restaurant is open can be hard to find sometimes.

Very nice property. Nice indoor pool and hot tub. Easy to find off Rt 95. Close to downtown which has wonderful shopping and restaurants and easy to walk around. Restaurant and lounge adjacent to hotel was also nice. Even though the hotel was sold out it didn't seem crowded.

I always stay at this location when in New Hampshire. It's near everything. The diner attached has excellent food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The bed are the most comfortable you will experience.

I always enjoy this hotel the facilities and our conference and I understand the advantage to renting rooms to large contract for income but I also believe the Hotel should reserve some suites to be open for customers other than those commitments. Was very happy overall but needed the Suite option for my experience to be complete. As always the staff was excellent

We rented a 2 bedroom suite for a couple of nights. the rooms were spacious and clean. One bedroom had a king size bed, a jacuzzi for two as well. the second bedroom had a king size plus a double bed. and their bathroom had the oversize jacuzzi too. the kitchen was fine for us but there were hardly any cooking utensils or pans. In fact there wasn't even a pan to boil water or a tea kettle. Maybe that doesn't seem like a big deal but then why is there a kitchen with hardly anything to use for cooking. For us it was fine because we weren't planning on cooking.

Best Western sought my review through a lengthy survey of my recent stay and this is what I provided: A friend and I arrived March 2nd for scrapbook convention held there until March 5th (3 night stay). We were put in Room 107 which was about 1/4 mile away from conference room. Toilet handle had to be held down to flush (very slowly), shower water spout was incredibly low (my friend is 5'9" and had to bend) shower tub was absolutely disgusting - blistering and very obvious patching on the bottom AND it backed up with water while taking a shower past ankles, and the last straw was stepping on a BLUE toe nail in our room (gross). We called to ask to switch rooms the next morning and received push back. Went down to the front desk who initially wasn't helpful but ultimately found us another room. Room 216. This was still a 1/4 mile away to walk back & forth to the conference room. Room 216 was better BUT the shower faucet is literally pulled out from the wall 1/2-3/4" with a gap, the caulking around the entire shower looks like something a child did and the bedding skirt has a 6" tear from the seam so it just hangs there, and one of the 3 lights were out above the sink/vanity in the main room. Also, outside Room 216 is a window that overlooks the pool area. It has a huge crack in it. The pool/jacuzzi fitness area - room has rust everywhere. The jacuzzi timer didn't work so the bubbles never came on. A maintenance person saw us go in and asked how we were doing. We explained the jets weren't working and he turned them on from another room. The water level was too high so we couldn't sit without the bubbles literally bubbling in our faces so we asked him to turn it off (since we couldn't control it). We were offered a $15 gift card to the RoundAbout Diner for our inconvenience. It was a nice gesture but didn't really make up for our experience (why not take $ off the room bill instead of forcing us to use the RoundAbout Diner?) My impression is that this hotel might have seen its heyday in the 70s but since then has run down and been poorly patched along the way to the year 2017. Very disappointing 1st stay at a Best Western. ************* Once they received my thorough survey/review, a manager did email me concerned about my stay and wanted to call me to discuss it further. I indicated I said everything I could about my visit and wasn't sure what more could be discussed but that he was welcome to contact me. He didn't follow up.

Hotel is located right on the traffic circle, and a short drive from downtown Portsmouth. The adjoining diner was great as well! The room was fine- basic and clean- except that the previous guest's takeout container was left in the fridge! Pool was decent, and the whirlpool was great. Would stay again.

Stayed here for two nights. The hotel is in need of updating furniture wise and is need a a good cleaning. It's not filthy, bathroom exhaust vents are in need of a good cleaning and the rugs are in some need of TLC. The heater/ ac is on the loud side. Room was large and spacious, parking was plentiful, hotel was quiet, pool and hot tub clean, and there is a diner / bar next door. It's located on a busy road/ rotary. We only heard one loud car the entire stay.

Had a weekend getaway with my girlfriend and had a wonderful stay here. Are they luxury accommodations? No they aren't...but it was affordable, friendly, clean and convenient. We were greeted with a smile and free cookies at the front desk. There was coffee right in the lobby at all times and the beds were comfortable. It is just a few minute drive into town and a 5 minute jump on the highway to the shops in Kittery. The hotel is connected to the Rondabout Diner which both convenient and delicious. For the price of the room, they far exceeded my expectations and would gladly stay there again.

On returning from Canada the tour group I was with landed here for an overnight. Very nice place to relax in, from good coffee in the lobby to a pool/hot tub inside. This hotel is old and has been added to several times so the hallways are long and winding with lots of step ups and step downs. The rooms are small, but clean, with a nice bathroom and lots of hot water. There is a pool outside for the summer months with slides and children playground equipment which is nice. The best thing about this place is the restaurant next door that is associated with the hotel.

Sleeping room was clean and updated. The scrapbooking room was bright and there was plenty of room even with 55 of us! Hotel staff was attentive to our needs and kept room at great temp as well as providing coffee, water and ice. Having the Round-About Diner attached to the hotel was very convenient.

Stayed in one of the larger rooms had two huge bathrooms with showers and a kitchen. The room was very well kept the kitchen had a large refrigerator with its own ice maker. Very easy to get to kittery for shoping and also the fox run mall. This room was on the fifth floor first one on the left well worth it.

This was a nice place to stay for the weekend. The staff was very friendly. The hotel could use some updating. Our bathroom had some mold growing on the caulking around the top. We were staying on the 2nd floor and we must have been right over the restaurant. The hallway smelled of fried food. Luckly the room did not smell. The biggest complant I heard from our group is that the coffee and tea the serve in the lobby is not hot.

The hotel was very helpful. The Scrapbooking room was set up beautifully. We had a wonderful time. Enjoyed the Round-About Diner. Our room was clean. The tile in the bathroom was beautiful and shinny clean. I thoroughly enjoyed staying at this Best Western.

With all the options, this hotel definitely needs to up its game. Staff pleasant enough and room clean. The elevator did not work in the morning. The attached diner was the saving grace for me after a long day of travel.

This is one of my favorite hotels. Always clean and neat, and it joins a restaurant which is a good place to eat. Not a first class eating place, but it is close, you can get a drink and good food. I love this hotel because it is always comfortable and clean, They washers and dryers available. There is a very comfortable place to sit outside. They have a pool, but if you just want to sit outdoors and enjoy a nice class of wine, that is also available. They are close to, and have coupons for Warren's Lobster House in Kittery, Me., a great place to eat. I can't wait yo go again. We have stayed there several times as it is close to shopping, eating, and tourist areas.

Fantastic location easy off highway, local state liquor store nearby. Restaurant attached is the highlight in my opinion. Not a five star hotel but clean, bright, and worth the cost. Yes, I would return and plan to very soon. PS very close to Kittery outlets.

Great service overall. The front desk and the housekeepers were excellent and answered any questions I had throughout my stay. It made me feel like they really cared about my time with them. The location is also great since it is so close to so many restaurants and shopping centers.

In hindsight, we should have done a better job of reading the hotel reviews on different websites as we did not know there was no free breakfast. Imagine our surprise and disappointment when we were handed two discount coupons for breakfast (or lunch/dinner) to the restaurant, The Roundabout Diner, next door (you can access the restaurant from the hotel itself). When we got to the room, we were disappointed once again by the dark and dreary decor. Perhaps it was the time that we checked in, after 4:30 PM which resulted in entering a dark room. However the room was spacious and clean but does need updating. Sleep quality suffered as the mattress definitely had a dip in it so it needs replacing. At least our room was located on the 3rd floor in the quieter part of the hotel (back) as the hotel does front a major road. Parking is free, but the parking lot is rather awkwardly configured and entrance and exit to the lot is unusual, too. Hot coffee and hot water were available when we came back after dinner and was available in the morning when we checked out. We never did see any cookies. Reception when we checked in was professional and courteous, but not friendly Check-out was much better - friendly and efficient. I'm not sure why this hotel is designated as a Plus hotel as we weren't sure where the Plus was. If we're ever in the area again, we'd try a different hotel even if we must pay more elsewhere.

Stopped in Portsmouth to see the USS Albacore and the hotel is close. The first thing I noticed was the room door seemed like it was open since it could be moved about 1/2 inch open/closed. Didn't seem secure. Lots of dust. Dust and cobwebs behind the night stand and beds. (upgraded room?). Breakfast is not included in the price so this makes it very expensive for a so so hotel. Can't recommend any stay here.

Decent hotel, with easy highway access and good restaurant attached. Internet was poor and would mot connect. Try to avoid ground floor as noisy from cars/trucks if near parking area (rear as well) Free coffee in lobby pretty good local beans.

Although there were a couple strong staff members, most were disinterested in their jobs or in making our stay a pleasant one. Our suite with full kitchen was dirty upon check in (used soap in shower - complete with hair stuck to it; soap smeared on bathroom door handle, dirty dishes in kitchen) and when we asked for forks for our meal (promised full kitchen) we were told to ask the adjoining restaurant if we could borrow some. Reported issues to management who were indifferent. All this after our original reservation could not be honored. Building is dated and smelly.

This hotel is located directly off the highway. It is close to downtown Portsmouth and also to the outlets in Kittery. There is no free breakfast since a restaurant is located on the property. The rooms were very clean but in need of updated furniture. The furniture in our room was worn as was the carpet in areas. The double bed rooms have full sized beds but it would be a great idea to upgrade to queen size. The plus rating on this hotel should be removed since the rooms are basic. Parking can be an adventure since the restaurant at times is very crowded and takes up many spaces. We stayed two nights and Saturday night we needed to park in the overflow lot across the street.

We have been loyal Best Western customers for many years because we know we can count on a certain level of comfort, amenities, and service for all of their hotels. This was an exception to our expectations for a "Plus" hotel. On comfort and amenities, the pillow top bed was not too comfy, and there was no free breakfast. On service I would call out one experience that exceeded expectations. I had left the room to find vending machines, and on my return realized, after many nights on the road, that I didn't remember my room number and did not have my cell phone, so my key, which I did have, was not particularly useful. One of their staff, Scotty, saw me roaming the halls far from the lobby and offered to call the desk, no answer, so he walked to the desk and came back to tell me. Yes, I could have walked there myself, but it was a nice gesture.

The front desk was friendly and attentive to our thoughts and questions. She upgraded us to a 2 bedroom suite. Two King and one queen bed! Room for many people and with the living area between the bedrooms, we had three flatscreen TVs.

I do not believe the Plus should be included in the name as Plus designates an added value or feature. This is a basic hotel with no added bells and whistles. No coffee in the lobby after I guess 5PM because when I went they were all empty. A huge negative for me! No breakfast in the morning which for me is a first as I just took that for granted. Another PLUS! The room was adequate but not inviting. It was clean which I guess is a PLUS. They do have a nice Diner on the premises and the food was very good as was the service. Overall I would stay there again as the location is convenient.

Actually, we were happy to get a room that weekend. Who knew that Columbus day is soooo celebrated in that part of the country? not us. The room was over-priced. And there was NO free breakfast! The clerk was very nice to order a cab to take us to the Surf Restaurant in town, and that was a fabulous meal indeed!

I had a nice stay. I attended a seminar and decided to take advantage of the group rate at the hotel. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. Some signs of wear but nothing too bad. The fitness center was just OK. It has a step machine, bike and treadmill plus some sort of odd weight machine that was missing the bench that should have been with it and 3 kettleballs. The restaurant was surprisingly good. One of the best burgers I've had anywhere and the clam chowder was also good. It was an easy ride into Portsmouth and if you are visiting much less expensive than a downtown hotel.

Apparently there are two section to this hotel, the new section and the old section. We were placed in the old section even though I booked three months in advance. The place was outdated and dirty. Old carpet and furniture. Taking a shower was a joke. No water pressure, tub drained slow and the hot water made this very loud squeaky squealing noise. When we reported the noise to the desk staff, he stated 'I don't know anything about it' and that was it. He didn't check it out or send someone else to. The hotel does not have a complimentary breakfast which is unheard of. I assumed the Best Western pluses were supposed to be better than the older Best Westerns - apparently not. I'm crossing Best Western off my list for places to stay. Also, be informed, we were told this hotel didn't have queen beds. My husbands and I spent 3 miserable night sleeping in a full size bed.

Right on the rotary so easy on and off and free parking (but another 10 minutes from the same exit and you can stay in town for about the same price and are then within easy walking to restaurants and shops - whereas there is nothing in walking distance of the hotel except the diner which is connected). Room was a challenge - the AC was unable to cool it but did keep coming on at intervals during the night - quite noisy - and not effective - so not a peaceful night. Rooms were generally adequate and wi-fi was reliable. No breakfast (which I realize not all Best Western's have and the website is clear so we didn't expect it but it is something to consider). Did ask about whether they still had an agreement with adjoining diner and was then offered a 10% discount ticket for the diner - discount is not valid on weekends - with the discount it came to about $8/per person for eggs, bacon, toast and tea. Heavy smell of cleaning fluids or chlorine in the hallway (not sure which) but in fairness that was not in the rooms. Front desk was pleasant.

The Best Western Plus is pretty much what you would expect from this chain. The rooms are clean and a good size. No real frills, but a very good price and a great location near Portsmouth harbor. The staff was very friendly and professional and accommodating for a late arrival. We would definitely stay again if in the Portsmouth area.

I have stayed at this Inn many times in past years and it is a good value for the area. The staff is friendly and helpful (especially the fresh baked cookies). The hotel is getting old and needs some updates and additional parking.

Stayed here for one night after leaving Boston Logan airport and heading to Maine. Good value for rate. Were provided places to go to dinner that worked out well. Easy to get to right off of highway. Plenty parking, and close to downtown.

We had to book this last minute. The staff was friendly, everything was quick and easy. It suited our needs, and we weren't there for long, but we did enjoy the air-jets tub. Also, the adjoining diner is pretty fantastic (although not included in the price of the room).

We've been in the USA for 1 week (stayed in New York and Boston) and think that this hotel is the best yet and cost 1/4 the price. It is located out of town, but we had car so this didn't matter. It was clean, roomy and comfortable. The shower was awesome.

We stayed here so that we could catch an early bus to Logan Airport. It was very close to the terminal. The place was just fine....quiet and comfortable. There's even a little diner next door. We would stay here again.

Very good hotel. The staff was pleasant and professional. They had good lobby coffee. Pool area was spotless. There is a restaurant co-located on the site. Close to the interstate and tourist area. Kinda crazy traffic rotary, so watch out!

The location was great. The beds were comfortable. Check in is not until 4pm. Our room was not what we booked. The pool and hot tub was packed. The hot tub was not open at 7am as the sign said. No restaurant.

Comfortable, but beds need replacing. Got better room the 2nd night we stayed there on our way back through, I guess because being there a 2nd night caused an upgrade. Room was quiet, air conditioner worked, shower force was not very strong, couldn't get all TV channels the first night. USA Today free. Waiter at the Round had filthy clothes, but did turn in my cell phone when I left it there.

Awesome service the staff went out of their way to resolve my issue. The restaurant had excellent food with fast service as well and the hotel was located close to the facility where I had a job interview. I would recommend this hotel for business travel.

Very highly recommend this hotel. The value is great, the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and the restaurant/diner next door is superb, not to mention the fact that you don't have to drive. All in all, I have traveled extensively in my career for both business and leisure, and this hotel was one of the best I have stayed in, in addition to the rate being very reasonable.

In typical Best Western fashion, this hotel is very clean, comfortable, and affordable, as well as being close to Kittery and Hampton Beach. The staff went out of their way to insure that we would get the most out of our vacation,even suggesting alternative beaches. When in the Portsmouth area, this is the hotel you should select. They signed us up for Best Western Rewards and explained its many benefits. The Best Western program is a s good as Hilton, Marriott, and Holiday - and we belong to all of them.

Great location, near all things "SEACOAST" ... the room was a bit dated. And we had issues with the toilet not flushing but we that was handled. The Diner has some AMAZING food! And the staff at the lounge are AWESOME! The lobby was nice and clean.. and the coffee bar had some very good coffee to grab and go!

The toaster and oven top were disgustingly dirty and I would never have used either accordingly. The outlet in the bathroom for the hair dryer did not work, making it seem that the hair dryer did not work. The bathroom floor was dirty. The bathtub walls were dirty. The bathtub was slippery and had no non-slip mat.

We were looking to spend a couple of says in the Kittery/Portsmouth area and decided on this particular hotel based on price. Lucky for us the rooms were amazing and well worth what we paid. Having the bedroom separate from a kitchenette and sitting area made it very comfortable for my husband, my two daughters, and myself. We were left wishing that we had booked our whole stay at this hotel instead of moving on. They have a clean and easily accessible guest laundry for those of you, who, like me, prefer not to have loads of dirty clothes when you get home. Simply, would absolutely recommend this hotel.

I went to Trip Advisor for recommendations for a place to stay on the way back to Boston. This property had acceptable reviews. They apparently did not stay in our room. It was very dirty and smelly. The main traffic areas were clean, as was the bathroom. However the carpet was not well vacuumed, especially around the edges. By edge I mean 6 inches and under the bed was horrible. The window seals had chunks of dirt on them. It looked like they had done renovations at some point and never cleaned up the mess. The fan was broken in the bathroom which led to a very musty smell. The drier did not work, but was expensive to try and dry. Overall a real disappointment.

Room smells like smoke and the beds are very small. Wife just killed a bug....location is ok but the hotel next door may be a better choice. Spend the extra couple bucks on a better quality experience. Pool inside looks nice, have not seen the outside pool. Parking is abundant.

We stayed in this hotel for three nights. Our room was in the back near the pool. The walls are thin and we could easily hear our neighbors and children coming and going to the pool. The room was somewhat clean - vacuumed, except for along the edges. Clearly the staff do not bother to go along the baseboard as there was a noticeable layer of dust all around the edges of the room. The carpet needs to be replaced or at least given a good and thorough cleaning - bring flip-flops to wear in the room if you don't like walking on dirty carpet. On the plus side the room was spacious and the location is near downtown and the highway. There was a woman at the desk who was rude and not helpful when asked for assistance.

Mark and his team at the Best Western were able to find us rooms even though it was a Friday night and we called last-minute. The hotel was well-maintained. The wi-fi was strong throughout and the fitness center was well-equipped. Our only disappointment was that we couldn't stay longer to enjoy the other amenities but our travel plans had us leaving early the next morning.

Traveling from south up to Maine this hotel is a perfect spot to spend the night and break up the trip. It is great location easy off and on to the highway. The room was clean and comfortable the staff was friendly, even at 2 AM. The price was reasonable and there is a great diner attached that serves really good food. I did not get to use the pool and gym because I was running late, but I looked through the window and it looked clean and well-kept. Next time I will use it because I like to keep fit on the road.

Our room was clean, large and attractive, with a nice, roomy bathroom. The bed was comfortable and I got a great night's sleep! The staff was both cheerful and helpful. The Roundabout next door is super convenient and provided an excellent meal. We will definitely stay here again the next time we're in Portsmouth

My husband and I were going for a vacation to Portsmouth but had never stayed there before. We were on a budget but wanted to be close to everything going on downtown. We found Best Western to be at a great location, 5 minutes with an uber, away from everything we wanted!!! The staff was extremely helpful on arrival, offering to hold food items for us so that we didn't have to wait in the lobby while our room was prepared. We were able to have breakfast at the diner attached and the food was fantastic!! We are already planning another trip this fall to come back to this location.

Staff was very friendly. We were given a handicap room which had an extra large bathroom. That was great! The room itself is large with a fridge and microwave. There is a coffee station in the lobby and the hotel is located right next door to the Roundabout Diner which has really good food. Would definitely stay here again.

We needed a place to stop over one night and we have a dog. The Best Western did allow dogs for an additional $20.00 per night non-refundable charge. The room itself was in the mid $200's with all of my discounts applied plus the dog fee. It wasn't very clean, quite outdated, and it was very loud as it was near a courtyard. The price is quite high for what you ultimately get. I made sure that my dog only laid on her bed and blanket because I didn't want her to get dirty from the floor.

Enjoyed the easy access from this location to all the nearby spots. Very helpful front desk team on both check in and out. Hallways were warm, but air conditioning working perfectly in room. No breakfast included, but likely since such a good diner is attached to the hotel. (recommend the special bread from local bakery for toast. Ours was Apple Cinnamon). Not a new hotel, but comfortable and clean.

The overall experience was adequate at best. The hotel website led me to believe we could walk to town but that wasn't possible. The temperature in the room was freezing and adjusting the a/c didn't help so we finally just turned it off, which helped with the temp but the room became very humid. The bathroom was clean but the tub bottom had been repaired with what appeared to be a big glob of spackle. The staff were very friendly though and that's always appreciated.

The Best Western Plus in Portsmouth, NH has very good bang for your buck. It is only a little outside downtown Portsmouth, but finding taxi/Uber service was not a problem. All of the other (3-star and up) hotels in the are were very pricey. Good quality and great, friendly service.

Check in was very easy, no difficulty finding the room, elevator was to small, did not spend very much time in the room but would have enjoyed a 2nd chair; hot tub jets were broken; room was at the very end of the hallway which made it very quite; biggest complaint would be that there is a back/side door that was unlocked for anyone to enter and no security (this stair well if taken up to the 3rd floor allowed others to be right at our door)

Very good location if you do not want to stay downtown in Portsmouth. Right off the highway. Diner connected to the restaurant. Place was clean. Staff was pleasant. Have a swimming pool. Small exercise room.

the front desk staff was not helpful at all. We ask 3 times to have someone unclog our bath tub. Noone ever came in our 4 nights staying there. The indoor pool was closed and no one acknowledged that.

The hotel was very clean, quiet, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The front desk staff were helpful with directions and recommendations for eating places and sites to be sure to visit. We would be sure to stay there again if in the area.

Stayed here for a few days while visiting the area. The hotel is very clean, the staff very helpful & friendly. Loved the restaurant connected to the hotel. Which made it convenient for food & drink. Area very nice. Located for easy on & off the highway to get to where you want to go. I'd stay here again if I'm ever in the area.

While the rates were good I didn't find the hotel as clean or as updated as I would have liked. They do have both an indoor and outdoor pool which is great but they lack the most basic features. After not making up the room by 4:30 pm I called the front desk to inquire as to why. I was told that I had the "Do Not Disturb" sign up all day. I told her that was not true and she insisted that I was wrong. But 2 girls came right away and made it up.

This hotel is in close proximity to downtown Portsmouth, the beaches and restaurants. The rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet. It is located on the round about and a five minute drive to Portsmouth. We would stay here again.

The hotel is in a convenient location for drivers. The decor is modern and clean though not elegant. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom shows a few signs of wear and presented a few difficulties. The sink didn't drain well and the tub surface was very slippery. Staff were friendly and efficient. All in all a good value for the price.

we have stayed there several times and the staff was very helpful and went to the point to exchange rooms last second so we could try out the whirlpool since we had one last time but didn't get to try it out. The rooms were very clean and made it feel like a home away from home. The bed matresses could be a little softer but everything else was great!

Room was not properly cleaned. Not sure if previous guest left food in microwave or if cleaning staff left food in the microwave, but either way, there was a cup of soup with what appeared to be chicken in there. Made the whole place smell funky. We had to reattach the toilet chain multiple times in order to flush toilet. Thankfully, I have done this many times in past so was able to do so myself but found this troubling. Reported everything once we checked out. No response from the staff. :(

It was my anniversary and we like to get a place to stay and walk to Market Square Day in Portsmouth. I ordered flowers for the room in advance and Tammy made sure they were there and set up. The room was nice, King bed that was comfortable. Nice fridge and clean room. We had breakfast in the Diner both days and a light lunch in the lounge area. We wanted to visit the outdoor pool, but it was not quite ready. The staff was very friendly. The rooms were quiet, very little noise from the halls. The Hotel was fully booked. The location is perfect right off 95 and a 20 minute walk to Downtown. We will be back.

We have stayed at this hotel for several years and it's always been great! The front desk staff is spot on and very friendly! We stayed in room 392 again this year. The room was very spacious and was very clean. The beds were also super comfortable! This hotel is a great value and the location is perfect! The Round-a-Bout restaurant is must! The food and staff are awesome! We had a great breakfast each day and drinks at night. I highly recommend this hotel and know that Mark and his staff will take good care of you!

Hotel used to be a great place to stay. change in management has not been for the good. No one is in charge. Broken amenities aren't fixed. At some point this will impact staff. Restaurant has improved 100%.

As a group of six occupying three rooms, we were very pleased with the service and our rooms. We had requested that all rooms be in close proximity and they definitely were. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. We will recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to New Hampshire.

This is now the 3rd time we have stayed here. Every year we travel from VT to Maine and this is always our stop in between. The staff is always so courteous and our rooms are always really clean and nicely updated. The jacuzzi tub is also a nice upgrade! We had a great stay and look forward to our stop here next year.

NHRA brings us to town and the husband and I love this hotel. Hallways are not very cool but the rooms are! King bed and pillows were comfy. We slept like a baby. Bathrooms are updated with pretty granite and were very clean. Tub/shower combo had no skid in the bottom of tub which was appreciated. Linens were plentiful. Room had fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Will stay here again!

Quick overnight stay that was near event we went to. Easy in out, near the interstate, a restaurant is next door. Clean and comfortable motel with good size rooms. Have stayed there before and was just as pleasant this time.

Stayed at Best Western Plus Portsmouth on a number of occasions and we have been satisfied with the bed, refrigerator, microwave and bathroom amenities . Coffee is always available at any time of the day or night.

Good Value, Great Staff, uncomfortable bed. Clean pleasant room. I was happy with everything about the stay except for the bed. The Roundabout Dinner was very good for Breakfast and the location was convenient to shopping.

So, we booked this room on the cheap through Priceline and expected to get what we paid for. Much to our surprise this is a great value for the price. Neat, clean with a friendly staff, great internet connection, clean pool and awesome restaurant attached to the hotel. Great location? Highly recommended!

The staff were exceptional, very helpful. The service was amazing. Close to 95 & Rte 16. Some of the rooms were under renovation. The beds were very comfortable, and they cleaned the entire room daily. The gym was a little small.

We stayed one night in a one bedroom suite on our way to Maine. I liked that these are real suites with a door between the living/kitchen area and bedroom. The Roundabout Diner attached to this property is a real bonus with its retro decor and great food with a wide ranging menu.

Room was okay but heater thermostat did not work....broiled all night until shut off the 2nd day & woke up freezing. Bathroom sink faucet leaked terribly. Upon checkout, advised the staff who took notes and I assume passed onto their maintenance staff. Otherwise, the place was relatively clean.

This BW was affordable and convenient, however the room had a nasty odor, and a very old tub. The fitness center was a joke, 2 rusty pieces if equipment, and the desk person told me the front door was the nearest to my room, when i had a side door right across from my room!

The 2-bedroom suite we were in needed lots of work. The fridge froze everything. We had to throw fruit away. Both toilets ran and took a lot of effort to stop whenever we used the toilet. The showers squeaked when we used the hot water. The light in both bathrooms took a long time to come on then flickered causing a headache for my significant other. One morning the water was orange in one of the bathroom. One of the bathrooms was chilly regardless of heat on in the bedroom. The vents in both bathrooms were filthy with a serious build up of dust. We didn't get enough towels our last night, there were times we had to ask for dishwasher soap and clean towels for the kitchenette. The dishwasher was full when we arrived. There was not enough silverware for our party. There was a chipped glass in cupboard. The hot tub near the pool was not working on our last night, that was disappointing. The pool was cold. When my significant other spoke to the manager she didn't feel he was concerned at all. The staff was extremely nice just not super helpful.

Convenient to downtown Portsmouth. Good Amenities (pool, exercise room, computer room). Good for families or singles. Good restaurant attached to hotel (Roundabout Diner). Room was comfortable and clean. Parking limited. Some rooms were entered from outside.

Not a high end hotel, but it was clean, the location was great, and the staff, especially Debbie at the front desk, were very helpful and friendly. The diner next door was fabulous also. We did make the mistake of booking with a 2nd / 3rd party booking - there was a problem with our reservation with the booking company - Debbie had it straightened out within 5 minutes.

Queen room was nicely set up. Bathroom fine except for tub bottom. It moved up and down as you stepped on it. Indoor pool was a little cool. Pool room definitely needs or is undergoing renovations of the walls and windows. It poured most of our short trip so it was nice to go to adjoining restaurant and bar without going outside. All in all it was good, but if I return to Portsmouth I might be tempted to try a different hotel.

We have stayed here at least 3 times, the location was the main reason we chosethis hotel. We have been pleased each time and would reccommend highly. The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable. The Round about diner is a great perk, the food is excellent.

We have been coming to this location for years for various scrapbooks groups weekends. The ballroom is small so it makes for a more intimate crop. The hotel is older but well kept and the dine next door. Is awesome. We checked in on Thursday and it seemed as before. The remote for the tv didn't work but we weren't there to watch tv anyways. The surprise came when we went to bed Friday night. We had been out of our room all day and went to bed about 12:30 pm. Much to our surprise, the room had not been made up. We didn't really care about the beds but we need clean towels for the morning. So we trudged down to the free not desk and clerk said "well did you leave the do not disturb sign on?" No. . "Well there's nothing I can do about now , I'll leave a note". I was tired. And asked for some towels for the morning and went to bed. We stopped down the next morning and were told " we saw the note, we'll make sure it gets made up today" still no apology and eve was kind of put out to even have to deal with it. She says d they were very busy and probably didn't have time to do our room but they would today. Gee thanks. There was a small go with the name of the manger on duty so I asked if I could speak to that person. He doesn't work weekends. So he's not the n duty then right? I could go on. They did not care that we got poor service and were rude. Not the least bit apologetic. For that matter the service from the staff in the ballroom was nonexistent as well. They had a sign that they were under we management and it was clearly not. An improvement. I've stayed in a couple best westerns in the past few months here and overseas. I have excellent experiences both times. This was a disappointment. I think we'll skip this venue next time.

We were charged 25.00 extra day over what we was quoted when we checked in . I was there for back surgery at the locate hospital and we asked the person on the front deck if we had to stay and extra day what would the cost be. We were quoted the hospital rate of 74.95 but the person on duty was not the same as when we checked in and she charged us almost 100.00 even though we told her we was quoted 74.95 . She told my wife that she sets the rate when she was on duty and this was the rate . RUDE

Sometimes you just need a clean quiet comfortable reasonably priced simple place to stay the night. That was my experience at the Best Western on the "circle" in Portsmouth. Very convenient location to the highway. And the attached diner is really good.

This was one of the cheaper chain hotels in the area, and was not the highest quality but worth the price. Major downside in my review is the fact that there was no free continental breakfast, which I thought was standard amongst all Best Western hotels.

This was my first time staying at a Best Western and it was the worse hotel I ever stayed at. We requested a King Deluxe room. Check-in person was not friendly or accommodating. Elevator dirty. No shuttle. No breakfast. We stayed on the second floor which reeked of chlorine in the corridors as-well-as our room. Small room, headboard dusty, carpet not vacuumed, furniture badly scratched, bed uncomfortable with sheets so paper-thin you can almost see through them. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel, unfriendly staff and not-so-nice rooms.

This hotel is a great add on to any travel purpose whether business or leisure. the rooms are very clean and nice gorgeous beds and vies and the warm atmosphere and great service. Elevator easy access and easy on-off I-95. Recommended.

This hotel would not be a first through fifth choice in the area. The lobby is freezing cold. Every time the door opens to the hotel the cold air whips throughout the building. Elevator is sketchy at best. Door closes very slowly and makes a drop before starting up. It also dirty and the one on the tower side of hotel has an odor. Front desk staff ranges from good and friendly (Friday night arrival) to surly and uncooperative (Sunday morning). Heat in room unpredictable. Restaurant next door over priced and fair quality.

We really enjoyed our time, we loved our room and experienced great peace and relaxation. We paid extra for a living room, Jacuzzi and kitchen, it was very comfortable, and spacious. The rooms were very clean and room service did a great job of keeping it that way. We would definitely come again.

Had reservation, they had to search and override for a room for us. Tv in the main room had no picture, had to fix. NO HOT water for the Jacuzzi tub all night and I tried every hour. This is not the first time we have stayed at this hotel over the years and each time we are disappointed. I would not recommend this place to anyone. They still can't seem to understand what people want when they stay overnight.

The ventilation (i.e. bathroom exhaust vent) in the rooms here is the best I've found. The rooms have very little of the stuffy hotel room smell that most others have. The attached restaurant has some very good breakfasts, and the state liquor store across the street is ideal for out-of-staters. (We appreciate your purchases!)

Our recent Board meeting was held here, conference room had all the controls and amenities we needed. Rooms were a considerable value, given the group price we got and how well appointed the rooms were. Nice granite surfaces in the bathrooms added an upscale feel. This hotel has a 50's themed restaurant that is wicked popular with locals, so you know it's good. Bar had excellent local draft choices and a popular happy hour! We ate all but one meal on site over our 3 day day visit, which I never do when traveling- the restaurant was that good. Hotel, staff, restaurant, parking and location are recommended. Proximity to downtown fun adds to the package.

Good value for money. A good example of the Best Western brand. We held a board meeting. Conference staff and manager helpful and cooperative. Every request was met.This was our fourth time with this hotel for this purpose. We'll be back.

The volunteer, academic/professional Religion and Science Group (see iras.org) I lead conducts its Jan. and summer pre-conference (Star Island [starisland.org] out of Portsmouth) business meetings at this hotel. But while there, we also enjoy all that Portsmouth has to offer, which is convenient to the hotel. Members come, as volunteers, from around the world, and are from varied economic backgrounds, so we seek a setting such as this hotel with fabulous but modestly priced offerings and above all, caring, intelligent management and staff. The Roundabout Diner (roundaboutdiner.com)with the hotel is not to be missed!

My boyfriend and I decided to grab a hotel last minute, basically just because we wanted to swim in a pool and use a hot tub, so after grabbin lunch in portsmouth we stopped by the Best western, which happened to be the cheapest hotel close by with a hot tub. The roms were nice and the hot tub was warm, so the hotel met our needs. Not the hotel for you if you're looking for something nice and fancy but it was pleasant and clean and worked well for what we wanted at the time.

Great location in Portsmouth, with a Restraunt attached. You get free breakfast when you stay. The room was very clean, and the TV is a flat screen and very large. Lots of parking and the hotel is very clean. Reception when we entered was friendly and polite, and helpful. There are many places to eat and shop and the mall is not far away. Great job to all the staff here, they work hard and very friendly.

Although hotel is older, rooms were clean, linen fresh and tidy. You basically see the age more in the hallways than in the guest rooms. Friendly staff. Clean pool. Hotel is a good bet at a value price.

We wanted a place to get away for a few days and decided on the Portsmouth NH area. We stayed in Best westerns before so we choice to stay again. We loved it. We stayed in a suite with a kitchen , separate bedroom and Jacuzzi tub. The location was close to the city center. The room clean and bed comfortable. We loved the hotel hot tub and pool.

Had a good stay here with my family. Hard to get into the street from the circle unless you are traveling north. Room was clean with firm beds. The diner next door is convenient with good food. Staff is friendly and helpful.

One night stay at this hotel while visiting Freeport and Kittery. Nice location, rooms were good size, clean, accomodating staff, had a first floor room and quickly swapped for a 2nd floor, (wife has 1st floor phobias) Really comfortable beds, pillows. Next door is a cool retro type diner (Roundabout Diner and Lounge) Really good food any time of day.

I had to stay there when my hotel (Marriott Courtyard) was overbooked and they diverted me to the Best Western. The staff was friendly and helpful in correcting the Marriotts booking with them. Unfortunately, that's where the good parts end. The elevator and hallways to my room in the tower were dirty to downright filthy. The elevator smelled of burned wiring and was overall not very trust inspiring. The room itself was clean, but very old. It had a full kitchen, which is nice, but doesn't make up for the rest.

Best Western Plus is a perfect place for a weekend getaway or even just a night, My wife's employee Christmas Party was in downtown Portsmouth and we did not want to drive back to Manchester. Nice accommodations, very comfortable beds.

If visiting the Portsmouth, NH area the Best Western Plus in Portsmouth is a wonderful place to stay. Right off the interstate and very convenient to downtown Portsmouth. If visiting downtown you can take a cab (as they do not have a shuttle service), for about $10. Saves on parking. Very close to York, ME where the "Nubble" Lighthouse is located.

Stayed here on business for a quick trip to Portsmouth, nice hotel with everything I needed to take care of my needs, very good internet connection, comfortable bed, nice friendly staff, and easy to get in and out. I also enjoyed the restaurant right next store particularly the fact I didn't have to drive anywhere.

Rooms not as clean as on past visits. When showered the mirror in the bathroom had profanity written on it when the condensation was on it. Not very nice to see. Tells me they don't wipe down the mirrors which leads me to wonder what else they miss. Another person in group found an old room key under bed obviously not cleaning under there either. Roundabout restaurant was good, food at a reasonable price.

General disregard for safety in pool area. Hotel smells like a pool. Dirty rooms. Poor lighting. Internet drops. General room maintenance not kept up with. Customer requests not listened to. Key cards stop working.

I have just been to the USA for 12 days and this was by a long way the worst hotel we stayed in. Dirty room. Dark and gloomy with odd furniture. Glad to be staying one night. I have to say that the desk staff were the opposite showing interest and help. They even checked me in for my return flight from Boston.

I found this hotel to be clean and conveniently located at the rotary. The Roundabout restaurant located next door which is great. Laundry facilities available 24/7. Since my room was located across from the laundry I could here clothes drying at midnight (metal snaps, etc. binging away). Staff friendly and helpful. I would stay here again, but ask for a room away from the laundry facilities.

Stayed here for one night at the beginning of a tour of New England and Boston, when we arrived (very late) the room was freezing, I put on the heating unit which was like a small lawnmower (sound wise) so had to turn off again. breakfast the following morning at the cafe next door was the best part of the sat which is not saying a lot

Found this hotel to have a dirty feel. Decorative pillow on bed had either mildew or powder on it. Bathroom had a wet towel hanging over shower curtain bar. Edges of room and hall carpets needed a good cleaning. Only Plus-the Roundabout Dinner connected to hotel had very good food and friendly servers.

This was a very nice hotel with a GREAT diner attached which was very convenient. The only issue with the hotel was that the maintenance person DOUG was rude. We were 3 50 year old couples sitting in the lobby having a few cocktails and he told us the go drink in our room because "we don't do that here". It was rude and uncalled for. Other than that jerk, I would highlight recommend this location.

We stayed here in early August, a busy time of year for the area. It was not cheap. After a really long walk along many corridors, we arrived at our assigned room. There was a box fan sitting on top of the A/C unit for some reason. The floors of the kitchenette and bathroom were sticky. We found mold in the shower and the toilet seat had not been thoroughly cleaned in a long time - maybe never. The light cover over the sink fell when we removed a towel from a shelf that had been holding the light fixture up. Nightmare. We called the desk to request another room and were told by a bored and unconcerned clerk that there were no others available.

I stayed 6 nights. My room was only made every other day. The end of next day of my check in I realized that my room was not made I asked the front desk if this was a policy not to have the rooms made every day but was assured that it was not and i may have put the do not disturb sign on the door. The third day of my stay, the same thing happened and I got the same answer. I explained that I did not put any do not disturb sign. The fifth day of my stay I had also the same problem and this time I had the impression that the front desk employee did not care much about my complaint. The other thing is that this hotel is a "Best Western Plus" on paper but it is certainly not worth it (the elevator needs to be updated, vent in bathroom is very dirty: it seem that it has not been cleaned for years, I found hair in the towels and in the sheets. |In addition, the hotel is in the middle of nowhere for people with no car.

Coffee provided, but unlike most Best Westerns breakfast was not included. The Roundabout Restaurant is attached and has good diner food at reasonable prices and opens at 5:30 a.m. Large pool and hot tub. Exercise room. Easy off and on I-95. Ramps and luggage carriers. Staff wasn't particularly friendly, but they were helpful when I asked questions about the area.

This room was recently remodeled and looked beautiful at first glance. After just a few minutes it was easy to see how dirty the room was. Under the bed had not been vacuumed for a long time, shower was dirty, ants under bed and on carpet. we spent 2 nights, we were coughing and sneezing the entire time. Very displeased. We will not come back

The room smelled of smoke. The parking was limited. Lights were not working in the room. Overall the room and accommodations were very minimal for the price. the restaurant was the highlight. The food was very good and the service was excellent. Unfortunately, the parking for the restaurant made parking at the hotel tough. Getting in and out of the hotel parking was a little challenging too because of the location. the hotel was shoehorned into a tight spot.

We were looking for a place to stay for the night in the Portland, ME area on a Friday night. This was the closest place we could find on our route home. Stayed for one night. It was very quiet and comfortable. Although breakfast was not included there was a restaurant attached (unaffiliated) that was fine.

Really ackward location, on the roundabout of the highway, not only hard to get to, but also hard to get out. Can not walk to anything but the liquor store, need a car! Rooms are very dark, outdated, nothing has been changed since the year the hotel was opened most likely, even sheets and bed covers. Found extensive amount of mold on my bed sheets and pillow cases. One thing is old hotel, which I can understand, the other thing - DIRTY hotel! There was some urine in our toilet as we checked in, the bedding was full of hair, the soap holders were never rinsed, full of soap marks from previous guests, etc. etc. etc. I am usually not a complainer but this ignorance and dirtinesss is unforgivable in the hotel business! I DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU TO STAY HERE!
