    « Nice place »

The hotel was very nice and easy to access off of highway 46 or 101. The hotel does not have breakfast but provides cupons for the dinner that is adjacent to the property. I will be back next time I am in Paso.

    « Great Hotel »

The location of the hotel was excellent. My friends stay in another hotel. I am glad I chose Best Western. The staff made my stay pleasant. I had a small request at last minute and they helped me out with no problems.

    « Passin Through »

Can't go wrong here ! Very quiet, clean and everything you need within walking distance. The room was immaculate, the bed was very comfortable, and the whole place was quiet . Definitely would stay here any time I'm in this area!

« very nice comfy motel »

Black oak is a great motel I will return each year for my art show and stay at this motel. The beds were very comfortable and plenty of room in the room , made it feel like home . The reasturant was very good , food was plentyful.

« Very Nice Weekend Visit »

Drove down to Paso Robles to do a one day bicycle ride with friends. Chose to stay at this motel and am glad. Room was pleasant to be in and large enough to accommodate me and my bike. I could spread out all over the room and no one cared! Had breakfast both mornings at the restaurant next door. Getting a $5 coupon and free hot tea was a bonus. Soaking in the hot tub that wasn't a lobster bath was nice too.

« Nice One Night Stay - Paso Robles Best Western »

I was driving home from San Diego so stopped at the Best Western in Paso Robles for the night. Check-in was superb. The staff was so super nice which was great after having to deal with slow Spring Break traffic. While the hotel is older, its still a nice stay. King size bed was comfy The towels are nice. There is candy in the room. There was also a comfortable recliner. For breakfast, they give you a five dollar off coupon for the restaurant (a couple of minutes walk from one's room). Breakfast was good. Location is easy on off from highway 101. Its very convenient location for wineries, cafes, fairgrounds, and just a short drive to the nice downtown Paso Robles area. Price was very reasonable.

    « Wine Country Interlude »

Had a wonderful weekend in Paso Robles March 16, 2018. The hotel was centrally located. Front Desk Staff very friendly. Hotel was old but very clean. Outdoor hot tub good. Sauna OK. Price was reasonable. Breakfast at on site diner was very good and discounted $5.00. Would stay again.

« Our Preferred Lodging in Paso Robles »

Although there are newer, fancier places to stay in Paso Robles, the Black Oak is our lodging of choice. It is older, but well maintained, in a convenient location, and the staff friendly and always helpful. The rooms are comfortable, with a microwave and refrigerator, and the housekeeping typically excellent. If you plan wine tasting, the front desk offers a wide selection of free or discount coupons for visiting most of the area wineries, as well as wine country maps. They also offer $5 discount coupons for breakfast next door at Margie's. If you stay at the Black Oak, you are also eligible for a 20% discount at the Eberle winery, a good place to visit for the excellent cave tour, with free wine tasting, as well as excellent wines, We always stay in the back at the Black Oak, near the pool, which offers quiet nights for sleeping.

    « Staying in Paso »

It was a very nice, large clean room. Very easy access right off of the freeway and close to some nice restaurants like Big Bubba BBQ. They have a nice fitness center and swimming pool. You get a $5 off of your breakfast next door at Magies cafe. I would stay again.

« Better than any Best Western I ever stayed in ! »

We stayed here for two nights during a wine festival and pleasantly surprised by this place. The common area had nice garden plants, fountains in cute places, plus a nice pool and Jacuzzi area. Hallways, elevators and stairs all clean and conveniently located for ease of guests as they get from car to room. You can also find convenient vending machines as well as washers and dryers for those needing laundry service. Our unit was on the second floor with two queen beds and was very clean upon arrival. The furnishings are nicely done and very comfortable. The one bed units offer a comfy sofa and chair setup. We had a microwave and small refrigerator, along with coffee maker. Heating and cooling worked well, almost too good. The personal amenities were abundant with a dish of mints, hand sanitizer, shower caps, soap etc (replenished daily). A better assortment of items than some higher end hotels we have stayed. Sleep quality was very good here. The front desk provided early check in and also offered breakfast coupons for $5 off each person's meal at the attached diner. I was amazed at the level of quality and value here. I cannot say enough good things except regretfully convey one small downfall. The water softening system seemed to be working improperly as the water from sink facets and shower tasted like salt water. White foaming, ocean like water could be pooled up in the palm of our hands when we turned on the faucets! There was no way to drink this water or make coffee with it. Upon checking out we mentioned this issue with the front desk who indicated they were working on a service order to fix the problem. Had it not been for this water issue than I would have given this review 5 stars, which is unheard of for a Best Western chain hotel. Hopefully they can fix this problem since this place is a real gem at reasonable prices. You can walk to the adjacent Starbucks coffee or other food services. The hotel has easy freeway access but none of the noise. The attached diner offers delicious and HUGE breakfast portions, enough to be split. Overall a great stay after we bought bottled water !

« The facility is run down »

The heating/cooling system in my room did not work properly. I was too tired to move rooms which was the only solution they offered. Considering what I paid, not a very good value. The room had a funny smell, so without air moving in the room, that was a little strong. They give you a coupon to eat at the restaurant which serves the largest portions I have ever seen at a restaurant.

    4
    « Solid Value »

Located in a hectic center of tourist coming and going this place is a surprise. While it is a typical "motel" the rooms are quiet and solid. There is a well maintained pool, rooms are moderate in size with a seating area and small table. It is clean and comfortable.

    3
« Nice location but the facilities need help »

I spent the weekend with friends to go wine tasting. The location is great - just outside downtown shops and restaurants. The facilities were so-so. The walls are quite thin and we could here the guests staying in the room next to us so I'm sure they could hear us as well. Also, the night before we left, the water became very salty and continued through the following day. Up until then I had been drinking the water from the tap. Very odd!

    2
    « 3am phone calls »

The room was clean and quiet until the phone wouldn't stop ringing at 3:00 and 4:00 am. Hotel solicitors trying to sell the hotel towels or something.,Worst part was-no one could get back to sleep. An attempt to contact the front desk about this issue was unsuccessful because the front seat phone was busy busy busy then it just rang and rang. Very frustrating. Best western needs to fix that issue and really should have comped us that night. That being said, The staff was friendly and accommodating on the other nights and upon check in.

    5
    « They've thought of everything! »

Clean, nice rooms. Though about 1.4 miles from Paso Robles square, it's an easy walk if you don't want to drive and it is a good location right off 101 (surprisingly, we couldn't hear it from in our room). A standard king had everything we needed including in-room coffee maker, a microwave, fridge and even a fly-swatter. Also some nice touches like a small candy bowl and free newspapers. Love the $5 credit for breakfasts at the restaurant next door. Pool and hot tub area was clean and enjoyable. Loud, late night users of the hot tub one night were quelled in reasonable time. Cn't say enough about the staff who were very pleasant, professional (obviously very well trained) and helpful. Such a great value! We will return.

    4
    « Nice stsy »

We spent two nights here . Very close in proximity to great wineries . Lots of small places around to eat ( with Starbucks next door). We do prefer the BWs that have there own continental breakfast. You get $5 off breakfast at Margies diner. Breakfast there is $15++ so not a great savings (although the food is very good and the portions huge.

« One of the best Best Westerns I've stayed in »

I like Best Westerns in general. They are reliable. But this hotel went way above and beyond from check in to check out! Friendly staff explained breakfast ($5. off the diner next door), we got fresh backed cookies, they had coffee and tea in the lobby. The room was thoughtfully appointed in every way from table top outlets for charging devices to all tile bathroom floors, wonderful shower, fully stocked mini bath supplies, coffee and tea in the room + small bowl of nice hard candies, fridge and microwave. Easy internet and super comfy reclining rocking chair. Perfect for using with your lap top. Bed and pillows were SO comfortable. I truly hated to get up. I own vacation properties and understand what it takes to put together a thoughtful and well organized guest space. This was definitely a 5 star in every way. I called directly to the hotel and got the best price by far then more discount with AAA card. (bonus for those of you who read the whole review :)

    « Deceptively quiet »

We had a family get-together, staying here. It's close to the freeway, a good point in that it is very easy for people to find. We were concerned about freeway noise. There was none! The place is quiet! The rooms we had were recently remodeled. Everything was like new and nicely done. Our room was large and comfortable. The rates are very competitive. There's an elevator even though it has only two floors. The lobby is small; no room for more than about 3 people to gather. In our stay, there was nothing lacking.

    4
    « Comfy room & great staff »

Had a late night check-in due to the long drive & traffic yet the staff when we arrived was very helpful as she talked about food & drinks. The room did have a smoke smell but the bed was amazingly comfortable, water pressure was on point, single coffee maker made for a nice touch, and had a mini fridge & microwave for longer stays. Double check your bill on the way out the door to make sure it's all correct. Regardless I would recommend this place!

    5
    « Well appointed »

Nice amenities throuout Handicapp shower top notch. Safe and efficient. Beautiful decorations. Glass coffee cups and glass water glasses. Yeah. Great coffee in room. Bed was very comfortable. High quality toilet.

    « Enjoy your stay »

Very easy to find the hotel. Centrally located to many places. Rooms very nicely decorated and furnished. I was cheerfully greeted and waited on right away when I entered the lobby. Friendly and polite desk clerks and housekeeping. Wished I could have stayed there longer.

    « Great Hotel - No Complaints »

We chose the Black Oak on the fly after evacuating SoCal as a result of the wildfires there. It was easy, the staff was friendly, and they provided a generous discount. It doesn't have all of the amenities some of the surrounding hotels have (i.e., a bar, a fancy breakfast, etc.) but it was perfect for our family.

    5
« Black Oak, Paso Robles »

Big comfortable rooms, pleanty of parking, great appearence both around the property as well as in the rooms. Very welcoming and caring staff. Several eating places within a very short walk, from Starbuck's to Burger's, Mexican, and Pizza as well as full size diner on property. This hotel is located within easy access to US 101, and CA 46 and the wonderful wineries of the area. Gas stations are right across the street. I've stayed here several times, for all the previous reasons and will again.

    5
« Best of the best »

We have been staying at the Black Oak for many years and the experience has always more than met our expectations. The rooms are super nice, the staff is helpful, the overall appearance is very impressive. There is a restaurant on the property that is very good; you sure won't go hungry - large portions.

    5
« Black Oak, Paso Robles »

Very nice room and excellent service from the desk staff. Convenient to the highway, downtown district, and wine country destinations. Great services and within walking distance to convenience services such as gas, groceries, restaurants. Would definitely stay here again.

    5
« Best value in town »

We stay here always when we are in town. Best value for your money. Staff all Very Friendly and helpful. If you come to Paso Robles to do some Wine tasting, be sure to ask front desk for 2 fo1 tasting cards from different wineries. They also have complimentary tasting cards for 2 as well. Rooms are spacious and clean always. Make sure to stop in Margie's restaurant as well for great breakfast or lunch. Close To downtown. Great place.

« Best Place to Stay in Paso Robles »

I've been a regular here for over 20 years, as often as six times a year. This place is constantly updated and very well maintained. I'm treated like family and wouldn't think of staying any place else in Paso Robles.

    3
« Best Western Paso Robles CA »

Normal, as expected experience. Pricey, higher rate than it should be for the type of hotel. No breakfast provided. Restaurant adjoining was expensive for the type of restaurant, a diner with a $15 hamburger and $20 meals.

    5
« Comfy, cozy hometown service »

This hotel seems to be family run and owned. If it is not, it sure has that feel. It is always a joy and comfort to stay here as we do 1 night a year, the same night every year on a night drive from N. Ca to S. Ca. The lobby welcomes you with coffee, tea, hot chocolate, hot & cold water, a basket of apples and newspapers. Every year at this time we are welcomed by Larry at the front desk in a lobby that is so nicely decorated for Christmas and are given a breakfast discount coupon for Margie's Diner next doo.r

« Great Experience and Great Staff! »

Brandee was by far the most helpful of each of the staff members I encountered. My sister was getting married and I needed an additional last-minute room added to my reservation. Not only did I need a room, I needed a handicap accessible room for my 95 year old Grandmother. When I called, I knew that rooms were limited (especially given the Thanksgiving weekend) so I did not have high hopes. Brandee was not only helpful and accommodating, she went above and beyond to help make sure my Grandmother had a place to stay. She informed me when I called that all of the handicap rooms were being held, but that if one was released, she would call me immediately. The next morning, she calls me to tell me that she was not able to get a handicap room for me, but she did have a King Bed Sleeper sofa room that had plenty of space for a wheelchair. I was so impressed that she took the initiative to follow up with me and offer me alternatives. Most individuals would simply call back and not give any sort of options. Brandee also made sure that the shower had a seat for my Grandmother to sit, and she personally made sure to have a handle bar installed by the toilet to also make my Grandmother's stay easier and more comfortable. I am the Sales Manager for the Marriott Plaza in San Antonio Texas, and I have been in the hospitality industry for a very long time. I have met many hospitality associates, and I can honestly say that Brandee was one of the most pleasant and professional young women I have had the pleasure of encountering on my travels. She is truly an asset to your property and your brand. Thank you, Brandee! If you are ever in San Antonio, please do not hesitate to call upon me to return the courtesy and respect you showed myself and my family. -Tiffany Moskowitz

    « Bed Bugs »

I have stayed at this hotel in the past with no issues. This time, my husband woke up with bites all over his feet. I reported to the staff and the manager called me and left me a message stating their housekeeping staff did not find anything in our room. The very least they could have done was comp the room or give us a discount. Very disappointed.

    5
    « Paso Fun »

Nice hotel , comfortable, convenient and friendly. Near the center of Paso Robles and close to many of the regions wineries. Coupons for coffee and $5.00 off at Margie ?s coffee shop next door are great. Be sure to try a cinnamon roll!

    5
« Paso Robles Black oak Best Western »

The rooms were clean, the pool was clean and warm, the hot tub was great, and $5 coupon for Marge's diner breakfast worked for. We were able to split a breakfast and get a discount. I would stay there again.

    5
    « Weekend Get away »

nice clean, central location, friendly staff. great location for wine tasting with numerous wineries in the area. Walking distance to Mid-State Fair Grounds. Restaurant has excellent breakfast with discount for room stay very good price.

    5
« The best Best Western »

This is the best motel I have stayed in with great breakfast, pool, fitness room, Hot-tub, and a very good location. The rooms are spotless, roomy, comfortable with ALL the necessary amenities -- Internet, TV, Coffeemaker, refrigerator and even a microwave !!

    5
« An excellent place to stay »

This motel style of accommodation is just off highway 101 at Paso Roubles the provides very cost effective and comfortable accommodation. The rooms are large and include a microwave and fridge as well as the usual facilities. The hotel also has a lovely pool which is open all year round and a reasonable gym room for use by guests. There's no food available onsite although there's Margie's Diner yards away that provides breakfast, the hotel providing a $5 voucher. For dinner there's a Big Bubbas Bad BBQ eatery very close that provides a very good BBQ style meal.

    4
    « Paso Robles Stopover »

We found this hotel to be conveniently located near the highway, yet quiet. Good amenities, including the pool (but too cold to use it). We had a convenient ground floor room, which worked best for us as we had bicycles to store indoors. Overall good value, pleasant staff, average breakfast.

    5
« Best in the Area »

We thought this hotel was a gem in the desert. We had stayed the previous night in a horrible place due to desperation and were so glad to find this wonderful place to stay. Everything was top quality. Loved the diner next door--just what we were looking for. I would be happy to recommend this hotel to anyone.

    5
    « New & Improved »

Have stayed here previously, about a decade ago, and boy has it improved. Special treats abound & staff is extremely helpful and accommodating. Room is very comfortable and has been updated nicely and bed is perfect. Much more than I expected.

    « Black Oak »

One of the best hotels in Paso Robles, centrally located for visiting the wineries on both sides of hwy 101. Well kept, great pool area, nice hot tub. Many Restaurants within walking distance. Our choice!

    4
« Clean hotel, comfortable beds, good amenities »

I would rate the cleanliness of our room high. Very comfortable beds. Loved the little extras that I did not expect, such as the keurig coffee maker in the room and the magnified mirror in the bathroom portion so I could do my make up. Very cool!

    4
« A great place to stay with a baseball team and family »

Staff was friendly and accommodating. Pool was fun for the kids and breakfast voucher was a nice bonus. We have a family of 6 and were surprised with the luck of having an upgrade which made it an even better trip. Having a Starbucks in the parking lot never hurts.

    5
« Will be staying there again »

I have stayed at this hotel several times and will be staying there again. The rooms are clean and well-kept. There are extra amenities. The service is outstanding. I intentionally go through Paso Robles on my way to San Francisco just so I can stay at the Best Western Black Oak.

    5
« Ana, the hostess with the mostest »

Very enjoyable diamond in the rough place. The hostess Ana is especially helpful and friendly. This is not a Hilton resort, but for the money you save and the pampering from the staff, you won't lose out. Close to all the wineries and fine dining.

    5
« Great hotel in Paso »

This is a great hotel in Paso. About 1 mile from the little downtown area. The rooms were nice and big and very clean and the beds were comfortable. We come to Paso quite a bit and will definitely stay here again.

    5
« Nice, quiet hotel in great location »

We had a great stay here for our Harvest Wine Weekend. Despite being laid out in a motel style, the hotel is very quiet (we were on the 2nd floor). There is a diner nest door that the front desk will give you a $5/pp voucher for. Breakfasts are great, and portions are HUGE - we ordered omelets on our first day there and ate leftovers for the next 2 days, thanks to our in-room fridge and microwave! One of our favorite things was that the hotel doors do not SLAM shut!! YAY!!! Makes for a nice quiet sleep. The air conditioner's fan will run continuously no matter what temp you set it at, nice white noise to sleep with. And the hotel recycles. Love love love that! Coffee and filtered water in the lobby...so you can fill up your water bottle before a day of wine tasting.

    5
« Great base for visiting wine country »

The Black Oak's location makes it easy to visit the many wineries in the area, and they have special connections to Highway 46 wineries. It is also offers easy access to Paso Roble's many other places of interest. And you can do this all from the comfort of the Black Oak's pleasant rooms and take advantage of their amenities.

    5
    « Great Hotel Experience »

We have used the Black Oak for our annual wine tour for approximately 12 years. The rooms are spacious, clean and quiet. The staff is very accommodating. We will continue to stay there on our annual trip.

    5
« Nice place, comfy beds. »

Nice staff, good clean hotel, located right off the freeway, with plenty of choices for food and fuel. The beds were extremely comfortable and the pool area was clean. They even had a gym there. Restaurant next to hotel has decent food.

  • 5
    « As Always, fabulous »

Have been going to the Black Oak for approx.10 years and have never been disappointed. Always great rooms, friendly service, fresh coffee whenever you need it and easy, just of the highway, but still walking distance from downtown

    3
« Better than average overall quality. »

The location and feel of the property lend themselves to a fruitful, fun holiday in the area. The front desk staff were always readily willing to offer assistance with local attractions as well as truly interested to make sure each guest was satisfied. Although our room itself could have used a facelift and new carpeting due to a musty odor, the exterior amenities and cozy charm of the property made up for it.

    5
    « Stopover »

we were on our vacation in California and we stopped off at this hotel overnight travelling between Calistoga and Santa Monica. The hotel room was very clean and massive. The staff were really friendly and helpful. It was also the cheapest hotel we stayed in our whole trip! I wouldn't hesitate in stopping hear again in the future.

    5
    « A motel with resort feel »

I was stunned at the overall level of thoughtful detail and crazy thorough customer service. Attractive and convenient site. Plenty of parking. Nice little sauna and clean pool area. The light fixtures had little levers for easy turn on/off. The beds were close to ideal.

    5
    « Excellent Property »

Beautiful hotel, very nice grounds, all well maintained. Lots of greenery. Been here many times, and is always a good experience. Staff wonderful. Real breakfast next door at Angies Diner, $5 hotel credit. One caveat. Avoid room 215 if you intend to spend any time in the room. It's darker than the others, as it's in a corner, and your window looks out on a wall about 4 or 5 feet away. Other rooms super.

    5
    « GREAT SERVICE »

This is my home away from home. I feel safe and it's so clean. Everyone is friendly and goes out of their way to have a quick chat to see how I am. I am well known to the employees since I work in Paso Robles. They are like an extended family. I am so pleased I picked your hotel...although other hotels offer same deal I still come back knowing I will have a pleasant stay.

    5
« Great and friendly staff »

We were very happy with the service and value of our hotel. The staff was very friendly and willing to upgrade slightly for no extra fee. Pool was very clean and nice and included a hot tub. Very happy all around with our stay.

    4
« Upgraded for our honeymoon. »

Upgraded us for our honeymoon which a lot of hotels didn't do along our road trip. Nice pool and hot tub! Laundry facilities were reasonably priced. Our jacuzzi room was very nice. Staff was friendly.

    5
    « Great value »

I was really pleased with the quality of the room for the price. It was only an overnight stay, it would be a nice place for a longer stay. My only complaint is that the bed was too soft, but the pillows were nice.

    4
    « Nice Stay »

We were in town for business and most other hotels were booked. BW Black Oaks was one of the only ones left with a room. The room was clean and comfortable. Coffee in room nice since there is no continental breakfast. Microwave and fridge. Overall nice property.

  • 5
    « good location »

AS with other BWs during our two week trip, we found this one very good. They also had a laundry area on first floor which we used, these machines were clean and not expensive. We were on the second floor, but the laundry was right underneath our area, so that was helpful.

    5
    « 101 SF TRIP »

Great stopping point for my trips to the bay area from Ventura CA. The staff is small town friendly and always add pleasure to my road trip. There are many local events in Paso Robles and great local wineries too. The Mid State Fairgrounds is walking distance.

    5
« Good location and good rooms. »

Clean rooms, good amenities, good location and courteous staff. It was easy to reserve a room, online; good communication/confirmation of reservation. Nearby restaurants - Margies and Big Bubba's BarBQ were good and adjacent to the motel.

    4
    « Beautiful guest rooms... »

Beautifully renovated guest rooms, just gorgeous, and exceptionally clean. Disappointed that they do not serve a complementary hot breakfast. But will definitely stay here again on future visits to Paso Robles. Highly recommend.

    3
« All good, except the bugs »

Hotel is located right off of highway 101 which makes it very convenient. Property is well maintained and room was very spacious. I would have given them 5 Stars, if it hadn't been for the cock roaches in the bathroom. Luckily we didn't see them until we were packing to leave. The clerk at the front desk didn't seem concerned when I mentioned the bugs, so it may be a widespread issue???

    5
    « Best Hotel Ever »

We have stayed at the Black Oak for many years and have never had a less than satisfactory experience. Great hotel, great staff, great location. There is a very nice restaurant just around the corner (Bubba's) that has very good food and libations.

    5
« Trip to San Francisco »

This Best Western facility is the best next to our stay in Henderson, Nevada Will stay here again when the opportunity arises. The information about the wineries was on point. I was in awe with the decor in the bathrooms.

    4
« Actually very nice even though right by freeway »

This is actually a pretty quiet respite from 101 despite being right next to it. Very convenient to access to both Highway 46 and 101 with lots of restaurants and wineries nearby. Room decor was nice and the dual sinks, full jetted tub, and plenty of space in the room was unexpected. Would return.

« Our 'go to' hotel in Paso Robles »

Love the location for winetasting in Paso Robles. Close to several wineries. Midway stop on our way to Northern California. Convenient restaurant on the property. Clean and quiet and comfortable room.

    « Over Priced! »

Stayed on 9-9-17 and was charged $215 plus tax for a total of $243. This is not a Ritz Carlton or a five star resort on the beach in Maui. This is a 1970's era property that you park in front of your front door, has no free breakfast, and is dated. On check in I asked the desk clerk what big event was going on to justify such a high charge. With a straight face she said that was the regular rate. The room was spacious, had a frig and microwave, but had multiple flies in the room. Very disappointed with a high price and below average experience.

« The BEST hotel on a 22 day trip! »

We loved the hotel and all the amenities that were offered. Everything about the stay was very nice. Parked in front of the room, beautiful area. Nice restaurant next door for breakfast with a voucher from the hotel. Had dinner @ a close by BBQ that was great. Very nice staff.

    3
    « Way too pricey »

This hotel is more of a motel. We expected much more for the high price. The people at the front desk were great - no complaint there. The free breakfast was a nice perk. Oh, the pillows were terribly uncomfortable.

    « Good trip »

Had a great experience here. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Pool was nice. Discount breakfast at Maggie's was a very good value. Would recommend to friends. Will stay here again. Nice personal touches, like free newspapers, cookies, apples, candies in lobby.

    « Great place/ frequent customer »

I really enjoy staying at the black oak. It's the best hotel in the area and has good rates. There a couple food options right next door for a quick easy dinner and the have a great pool and gym. They don't have a breakfast they give you a voucher to a diner, I don't like the diner but I never use the breakfast services anywhere, Starbucks next door instead!

    5
    « Great Room »

We ate very happy with this hotel. It's pretty, clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful. They have free cookies When you check in. The room has ample toiletries, real coffee cups and hard candies in the room. Very welcome amenities!

    5
    « Very clean »

rooms are spacious, the freeway is near but we could not hear it. it doesn't have a breakfast room, but you get a 5 dollar voucher to the dinner nest door, breakfast is good with big portions. the family enjoyed the stay. will come back/

    « Consistently excellent! »

We have stayed at this Best Western every year for the past 5 years. It is consistently very clean, beautiful grounds, and friendly, helpful staff. We always have breakfast at Margie's. Don't leave without trying it!

    « I'd stay here again »

For a fairly low-priced hotel, I was more than happy to have stayed here. The staff was welcoming, rooms were nicely decorated and appointed. The real plus is the location, right next door to a Starbucks, a burger joint, a Mexican restaurant, and another restaurant I've forgotten, and what looked to be a very popular breakfast place and old fashioned diner. The hotel offered $5.00 breakfast vouchers there for each guest, although we didn't get a chance to try it.

    5
    « Almost perfect. »

Our stay at this hotel was as we expected as we almost always stay at a Best Western. We are never disappointed. It was in an excellent location and very quiet even though the freeway was very close. They do not allow pets nor smoking. The only complaint I would have is that smokers do light up right outside of the rooms and the smell permeates the surrounding area.

    4
« Very good but no free breakfast »

The hotel is nice. Location is close to highway. We stayed there before our visit to Hearst Castle which is only 36 miles from this hotel. Many wineries in the area. The room was nice and clean. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Only drawback was that therein no free breakfast. $ 5 voucher for breakfast at the restaurant was good enough for toast only

    5
    « Fabulous room! »

We were here a few years back and needed a place for the nite. We were a bit surprised to find they were no longer pet friendly, but it wasn't a big deal this trip. We stayed in a king-size room and truly enjoyed having a recliner and sofa. The bed was marvelous- very comfortable and new. We will definitely return.

    5
« Best place to stay when in Paso Robles »

If you are looking for a friendly staffed hotel that has neat, very clean, and comfortable accommodations than stay here! I have visited here for over 20+ years and have always been pleased. Centrally located to nearby attractions with very easy accessibility to the freeway.

    5
    « great experience! »

We were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and comfort here! Many little extras welcomed us and beds were so comfy. There were several good restaurants nearby and made dinner easy. Maggie's diner seemed quite overpriced but was decent food. The western BBQ place was wonderful for dinner. Would definitely visit again!

« Good place to stay »

Was in town for a concert at Vino Robles Amphitheater and stayed here, great hotel with very clean rooms and comfortable beds. Very close to the Mid State Fairgrounds.Easy to get an Uber, and there's a shuttle service to and from the Vino Robles Amphitheater for a small fee.

    5
« Excellent accommodations, close to 101 freeway, restaurant food is good but quite expensive ($29 for pork chops) »

Restaurant food was good but very expensive ($29 for pork chops!); would eat elsewhere. Room was spacious, bed comfortable, shower head excellent so after a hot day of wine tasting, this motel was perfect to refresh oneself.

« The Best BW I have ever stayed in! »

The check in staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, giving us information about the surrounding wineries as well as coupons for discounts at them. The layout of this BW is really, really nice with the rooms and parking arranged around a central pool area. We had one of the rooms with a small living room and I have to say this was one of the nicest rooms we have ever had in a hotel - and we spend more than 100 nights in hotels each year so that is saying something. Prior to this stop, we were at a Fairmont, and this room was even nicer, with small touches like free bottled water and a dish of candies. Bed and pillows were super-comfy. The bathroom was huge and even had a jetted tub. I would definitely return to this BW in the future!

    4
« Nice place to stay »

This is a very nice place to stay , you have all the conveniences around you such as restaurant , food joints , stores. The beds are soft and the staff is friendly and was quite surprised with a ground floor level room it was very quiet. I would most definitely stay here again.

« Exactly what we'd expect from a Best Western »

We stopped for 1 night so that we could do a wine tour in the Paso Robles area and our stay didn't disappoint. The lady on the front desk couldn't have been more friendly or accommodating, going out of her way to make sure we got a room we liked and giving us access to the pool as we had arrived really early in order to be picked up on time for our tour. She said it was no problem leaving our car there for the day and even tried to check us in early. She was unable to do so, but the fact she tried showed us how much she valued her customers. The usual Best Western perks were on offer in reception with access to drinks making facilities, sweets on the counter and apples. The hotel was less than a five minute drive from downtown where there are a range of places to eat. Next to the hotel is Margie's Diner where you can get your usual burgers, breakfasts etc. You get a $5 coupon for breakfast which includes free coffee. Although this is different to the usual continental breakfasts offered by a Best Western, it made for a nice change to sit down and order something. The French toast and eggs were pretty standard diner food but delicious all the same and good value. Our room was at the back on the first floor and was very quiet. The two queen beds were very comfortable and gave a great night's sleep. Everything was cleaned to a good standard and the room came with everything we needed for a quick stop - bottle of water, hot drink making facilities and toiletries which included some hand sanitiser - always useful on the road! It's these little extra things that we like from a Best Western so we weren't disappointed and would definitely stay here again when in Paso Robles.

« All Motels should be this good ! »

Great Motel. Has a fan in room which is unusual.Great pool and many places to eat within 100 yds. Large room and very good price. Wish all Best Western Hotels were this nice. Large parking spots and have an elevator.

« Pleasant One Night Stay, Close to Fair Grounds and short Drive to Downtown, Easy Access from 101 »

I stayed at the Best Western in Paso Robles for one night. Check-in was good. Staff is friendly and also good. Small lobby area was nice. I stayed in a king size bed room. Bed was comfy and nice pillows. It was a peaceful sleep. I stayed on the 2nd floor. There is an elevator. The room also has a desk area, recliner chair, TV (with a good number of TV channels), free internet, chest of drawers, etc. The bathroom is split between sink area and shower area. There is also a refrigerator and microwave. The candy was a nice touch. The coffee maker was nice. There was a good variety of things to make - hot chocolate, several kinds of coffee, tea. The swimming pool is very nice with lots of seating around it. One can walk to a number of restaurants, cafes, fast food. Its across from the fair grounds. Its a short drive to downtown Paso Robles where I went to the movies. Price was very reasonable for the Central Coast area.

    5
    « clean and accomodating »

Our "go to" spot when we are in town. Has enough amenities to suit our needs and close to activities in the area. We enjoy the restaurant that is a few steps from our room and there are a few more dining options right next door. I enjoyed the coffee and tea in the lobby.

« Mid State Fair Trip »

For the past couple of years I have gotten a room here mainly for the convenience and proximity to the fair. However, it is a lovely hotel and everything is clean and comfortable. I will continue to book here when coming to Paso Robles.

« An exceptional Best Western »

The BW+ in Paso Robles is by far the best Best Western we have stayed in. The property is large but exceptionally quiet. Rooms are large, comfortable and well-equipped. The staff is very pleasant and the breakfast, though fairly standard BW fare, is ample and well-presented.

    5

    « Fair/Concert Weekend »

Four of us arrived before check in and the employee at the front desk was extremely helpful and accommodating; letting us use pool facilities and even bringing the room keys out to the pool when our room was ready. This is the third time I have stayed at the Black Oak Best Western in Paso Robles and have always found it to be clean and employees friendly and helpful.

« Quality hotel in Paso Robles »

I have eaten a number of times at Margie's Restaurant right in front of the Black Oak Best Western but never stayed there until recently. I was very satisfied with my experience. The staff was helpful. The room was clean, well put together and had a number of amenities. Plus, a stay at the hotel comes with a $5 off discount at the Margie's in the morning. I thought it was a great hotel.

    « Average »

The amenities were very nice, Q-tips, cotton balls, shower cap, shower gel, sewing kit, and a bowl full of candy to name a few, along with the routine shampoo/conditioner and soap. I loved the lighted magnified make-up mirror in the room. My only disappointment was that a $5 breakfast voucher to the hotel restaurant was provided rather than the typically continental breakfast as most of the time I am on business and just grab and go. The hotel check-in staff could use a course in guest service as they were not very friendly to the guest before me or during my check-in. However, the room was beautiful and met my needs and then some.

    3
« Great Stay - Poor Restaurant Service »

The stay was great, The bed had a memory foam mattress. First time I ever slept on one. I am sold on investing one for the home. The room was very quiet and great amenities and more than other Best Westerns I've stayed at. The restaurant Margie's Diner has decent food and level of service by my server was very poor. For every one table he waited, the female associate diligently waited on four. My advice, be seated the the female server. Although over worked, she'll give you the attention needed.

    « Nice, Convenient Accommodations! »

Location is easily accessible off of Highway 101. Property is clean and attractive. Room was clean and comfortable with effective air conditioning (outside temp was 106 degrees!). Margie's Diner restaurant on property was excellent for a tasty and quick breakfast. Wouldn't hesitate to use this property again..

    5
    « Great location »

We've stayed at this hotel before. The rooms are nice and comfortable. The pool is nice as well. Friendly staff. Margie's Diner is next door and a great place to eat breakfast. I would recommend this hotel.

    4
« Good place to stay »

Rooms were very clean and comfortable. The price was very good compared to other hotels that were 30 to 50 minutes up the road. If visiting Hearst Castle area it was a pleasant short drive and much cheaper than the hotels in that area. We would stay again.

    5
« Great hotel, great location »

The hotel is located with easy freeway access and close to many restaurants. It is a 5 min. drive to city center. The accommodations are excellent and the staff is amazing. Great place to stay when your in town.

    4
« For a motel style resort this one was excellent »

The quality of the rooms and facilities was far higher than we expected as this was just an overnight stop. There was even a laundry and driers for clothing. The swimming pool was clean and very nice. There is a diner attached where breakfast was good and reasonably priced with a discount if you stay at the hotel

    4
    « Birthday Trip »

The hotel was very clean and right off the freeway. We went winetasting and the shuttle came right to the hotel to pick us up it was a great weekend. There is a little diner right next-door and the food was very good for diner food.

    4
    « Pleasantly Surprised »

As we arrived, the outside of the door to our room was a little drab looking, but when we walked into our room, it was much nicer and very clean. We had a family room and it was awesome...it had 3 beds (two fulls in the main room and a king in the other. There was a door to close off the other bedroom so both parties could have privacy, but the bathroom was shared. It had an awesomely long, large counter (so everyone had space to put their toiletries out) and a sink. Plus there was a 2nd small counter and sink in the room with the toilet. The shower was nice (and there was no fan in the bathroom, but a window). Parking was easy (our room was at the end where there was plenty of open spaces) and they had laundry machines on property. The only complaint we had of the room is that there weren't any movies that we could find on tv...no pay-per-view or movie channels.

« Our place to stay in Paso Robles »

Nice hotel, right off hwy 46 and US 101. There are multiple nice places to eat within walking distance. Wish we could have stayed more than one night. The grounds are well maintained and lush with nice plants and trees. Water fountains throughout the grounds are a relaxing touch. The pool and jacuzzi area is a great place to relax and has a covered area if you want to get out of the sun. Park type charcoal bbq s are available if you want to grill during your stay.

    « Comfortable Hotel »

The room at the hotel was very updated and clean and modern looking. The amenities were nice and convenient and the staff was friendly and helpful. The outside of the hotel does look a little outdated but the inside of the lobby and actual room was very nice.

« Great Stay in Paso Robles »

We so enjoyed our first visit to Paso Robles and Best Western Plus Black Oak was outstanding. Not your typical Motor Lodge or Motel, but rather much like a nice hotel. Lovely accommodations, pool area and fitness area and close to everything. We were there for a concert at Vinas Robles Amphitheatre which was just 15 minutes away and the heart of downtown took us only 5 minutes. Highly recommend staying here!!!

    « Very nice »

Nicest room we had on this six day trip and the best value. They didn't have a free breakfast like most have these days but they had discount tickets for the diner that was located next door. The pool area also had a BBQ. There were a lot of family's there but the room was quiet. Defiantly staying there next trip through the area.

« Great Rooms! Great Wine! »

If you're in the Paso Robles area, this is a "must stay at" hotel. The staff is very friendly, and the rooms are clean and nicely decorated. there is a complimentary breakfast at the local diner, with additional restaurants to select from. The hotel is within close proximity of the 101 Freeway, and wineries and vinyards.

    5
    « Excellent Hotel Experience »

The hotel was excellent in every category. From the grounds to hotel staff. All service staff were additionally knowledgeable, of the area and spoke well. Most importantly, the policy of no pets allowed was extremely impressive. My new policy now is to never stay at a Hotel where they except pets. Best western will now be my first choice.

I am a traveling Safety Service Technician. I'm on the road for over 250 days a year, all hotel stays. I almost always stay in Best Western Plus hotels. I know what I like and what to expect from Best Western Hotels. I can tell you that the Best Western Plus Black Oak, Paso Robles, is absolutely fantastic!!! The lobby is beautiful and very welcoming. The hotel rooms are amazingly beautiful!! I mean AMAZING!! You even get a bowl of top quality candy! The beds very comfortable, I slept very well indeed.

    « Nice hotel »

Great location, convenient, clean rooms. Nearby restaurants offer great food. Parking lot is a bit of a squeeze for large vehicles. It's very close to the fair grounds & horse show facility so large trucks have to be parked carefully.

    1
« Lacking in customer service »

Last night we checked into the not so "best" western after booking through booking.com only to have the woman argue with us that we booked a smoking room with 2 queen beds. We have an 18 month old and indicated that on our reservation and by no means selected smoking. She said that was the last room and was not willing to give our money back until she miraculously found a king non smoking room, she made us pay more but left us with no option! The hotel also needs to seriously improve their plumbing, it was loud throughout the night! Not going back there again!

    4
    « Convenient »

Hotel was convenient, clean, and friendly. It is right across the street from the fairgrounds, with restaurants easily within walking distance. The pool was nice, and they let us check in early which was a huge help. Will be back for sure.

    5
« Best of the Best »

We always enjoy staying at Black Oak; clean, close to everything and reasonable. Stay here every chance we get. WE have stayed at many hotels and this is, by far, the best. Another plus is Bubba's Bad Barbeque right around the end of the drive, excellent food, a real fun place to visit.

« One should not have to argue about the Air Conditioning »

Air conditioning is necessary in Paso Robles this time of the year. And if it does not work, opening the windows does not help since the curtains (even when wide open) cover the window opening. The air conditioning will not say on in my room. So the manager comes in and unplugs it and then spends the next 5 minutes trying to get it to come on (seems to have no idea what he's doing) When the fan comes back on, the compressor does not fire up so it does not get cold. Then it finally does, but the whole unit goes silent again. His reply? Seems good enough to me! What? The AC won't stay on, it was not on when you came in the room. What's good enough about that? He offered no solutions other than he could call his maintenance man. He called me back later to state that the maintenance man had no solution, saying that once it gets to 67 degrees that it will turn off. Mind you, that it was not anywhere near that cold in my room, and the unit was set for 61 degrees (in a feeble attempt to get it cold). They have no other rooms and would not work on my behalf to help solve the problem by finding alternate accommodations. They said I could just leave. I am sorry but that's not hospitality and such a business does not deserve your business.

    5
    « Excellent Hotel »

Excellent hotel stay. The room was very clean and I enjoyed the added touch of the small candies. I was impressed on how nice the rooms were since the outside décor was nothing special. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends.

I stayed here a year ago for a wedding and loved the hotel. On the way back from another graduation in Arizona, we stopped here on the way home and stayed again. Loved the spa, we both badly needed it.

« So many wineries and so little time »

We went to Paso Robles for a fly-in convention. I chose the Best Western as it was a perfect location and I have not been disappointed with the chain yet. Our room was upgraded so it was spacious and had a spa tub, microwave and refrigerator. The décor was fine and the bed was extremely comfortable. It is a large complex and the grounds are well cared for. It is walking distance to many eateries and short driving distances to many wineries. The ladies at the front desk were very pleasant and helpful.

    3
« Not that great for the price! »

The rooms were nice, but seemed dated. Maybe it was a dated taste in decor. The landscaping was very nice and the pool seemed good. It is right off the freeway, for good or bad, about a mile from downtown. It seemed pricey for what it was.

We had a ladies trip for 5 women to Paso and this was the perfect spot - we walked to downtown - enjoyed the lovely pool and garden and the family room had 4 beds - room for us all. « Budget Hotel... you get what you pay for... »

I usually stay at Starwood Resorts but we wanted to take a leisurely 4 day trip up the coast and I needed 2 rooms (1 for my family, 1 for my parents) and there are no Starwood Resorts in this location. Upon check-in, the lady working at the Front Desk asked me if I needed soap. I thought this was weird and when I asked her, she said they charge for soap!!! I thought, "Wow, this is really a BUDGET hotel!" I told her I didn't need soap, that I had my own, which was the truth as we had just come from Santa Barbara, the Westin in LA, and the Doubletree in Brea. She also told me about the Diner next door. They give you a $5 voucher for each person staying in your room but each person has to order an entree. Example pricing of the cheapest entree was Biscuits and Gravy for $12 so we decided to pass eating there. The room was nicely updated. The building next door was undergoing renovations (remodeling), which makes you think: "Oh that's great to see improvements and that the Owners care about their property." Unfortunately what wasn't so nice was to see furniture and mattresses outside of the rooms. The washer/dryer were located outside... it did cross my mind how safe this type of set-up was and whether someone would steal my clothes from the dryer (maybe I've watched too many movies...?) It would be better if they could locate the Washer/Dryer into a locked area/room. Finally, after my kids took a shower, the water would not drain so I had to call the Front Desk. She told me there was no maintenance on duty until the morning and asked me whether I wanted to switch rooms. I have 2 kids and we were unpacked and my kids were already in their pajamas. No, I did not want to move. She said she would call the maintenance guy and see if she could figure out how to unclog the shower drain. So she arrived about 15-20 minutes later and then proceeded to pull hair from the drain which was the size of a tennis ball. It was absolutely disgusting. On top of that, she had tracked in her wet (dirty) shoes all over the bathroom floor, also disgusting. She then proceeded to apologize and told me she would make sure to let maintenance know to remove all the hair from the drains in the complex. While this is nice for future guests, it did not spare me the inconvenience. I talked to my Mom the next morning and she told me that her toilet kept running all night in her room and kept waking her up. Thank goodness we stayed here for only 1 night. We ended up staying at the Best Western in Monterey the next 2 nights and that was a very good stay... just wish I could've said that about this one. It wasn't bad (which is why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1) but it wasn't great and I would not stay here again or recommend it to anyone. I am surprised that it is rated so high on Tripadvisor.

    « Nice stay »

This is always a great place to stay when visiting Paso Robles. Particularly so on this trip because I accidentally reserved a smoking room with no cancellation (short notice) and the hotel was gracious enough to move us to a non-smoking upgrade room even though they were very full for the weekend. Any time we visit Paso Robles this is one of the first places I'll check for a room.

    « Simple, Clean »

We stayed here on the way from LA to SF. I bid on Priceline and landed this place for $190. The location is good, right in the middle of our road trip. The hotel is simple and clean, no frills, just fine for a one night stay. No breakfast but they give $5 off at the diner next door if you go by 10am. There is also a Starbucks you can walk to.

    « Convenient nights stop »

This is located well in Paso Robles with easy access to highway. Close to go wine tasting and convenient to town however you have to drive. The rooms are nice size and beds are comfortable. They offer a discount a coffee shop on property. The property was doing some work so part of it was closed. If you book a lower room request it not to be in a corner. Very dark.

    « Black Oak »

Nice hotel, fair price. Good location and easy to find; lots of restaurants in the area. close to downtown Paso Robles. nice pool and hot tube area, staff was friendly and helpful and allowed for a late checkout.

« Great Stop on a Long Drive »

This is my favorite stop when driving to Palm Springs to visit family. I especially like the location near the junction of US 101 North and Hwy 46. It can be reached easily from Hwy 5 by going west on Hwy 46. The $5 credit for breakfast at the diner on site is really a plus.

« Enjoyable Accommodations with Thoughtful Details »

This is the nicest Best Western I've ever stayed at. It was clean with beautiful grounds filled with colorful flowers. I especially appreciated all the little extras that you don't typically find in chain hotels. Things like reading lights on either side of bed, and nicely kept up décor, even a little bowl of candies, and bottled water free of charge. it's these little thoughtful extras make a difference. I must admit that when I complimented the front desk at our departure, I wasn't surprised to find out that a woman has owned that property for several years. Her touch was quite apparent. Also, the price was very reasonable, especially because accommodations in Paso Robles is usually much more expensive.

« Good location and nice amenities »

Large resort with 2 levels. Nicely decorated and thoughtful amenities. We were given a very large room at the back of the resort upstairs (there is an elevator). Had comfortable king bed with plenty of pillows, upholstered chair with ottoman, desk with chair, dresser, micro/frig. Plenty of lamps. Separate sink area with long counter, ceiling fan. No fan in bath but window opens. Plenty of towel bars and hooks, thick towels, mat for shower. Quiet night. Main con was the lack of consideration by other guests. The Paso area is growing quickly and that takes lots of contractors. They stay here during the week and then go home on weekends; parking lot is half full with their big trucks. They want to kick back and relax with their buddies late into the evening and then they get up early to go to the job site. (No free breakfast here.)

    5
    « Very clean-would return gladly »

One of cleanest hotels I have stayed. Loved ceiling fan in vanity area! Bed was comfortable and looked new as did all the linens. Outside was nicely tended with beautiful flower beds. Easy access from road in both directions and close to everything. I did not experience hearing outside noise or neighbors - some heavy footed-ness upstairs but not enough to be bothersome.

    3
    « Average »

If this property is your only option it is average. Make sure you request a non-smoking room if that is your preference as surprisingly they have smoking rooms and the smoke seemed to linger on our bed linens. Outside noise was very pronounced and you can hear people in rooms next to you.

« Black Oak Wine Weekend »

As advertised! Very clean, nice location, and friendly staff. Hotel is very busy on weekends from March to October so it is wise to book ahead. 50's era restaurant onsite had simple fair but great/friendly service s well. Convenient for breakfast and lunch.

« Excellent stay with fabulous service »

This place was great. We called for a last-minute reservation because we were dealing with pouring rain and Sharon (?) was super helpful and took really good care of us. We were quite frazzled after our drive and coming here was like we landed in heaven. We had a large, comfortable room with a nice big bathroom area, and a shower with good water pressure. There were lots of nice toiletries. Sharon gave us a list of places to go, coupons for wineries, etc. which we used. This is one of the nicest Best Westerns I've stayed at and was also a great value. If we're in Paso Robles again, we will be back. p.s. We didn't go to Margie's for breakfast; instead we had a coffee from the lobby with a wonderful almond raspberry croissant from nearby Panolivo -- much better!

    4
« Great place for overnight stop »

The hotel is clean and well-maintained. There is a diner right next door where you can have free coffee and soda if you are a hotel guest. The prices are a bit high but the portions are HUGE-you can definitely share a plate. The lobby is tiny and there aren't many amenities,so I wouldn't stay here for a longer stay, but it was great for an overnight. Great value for this area.

« The best hotel so far »

Brought my three small kids on this trip. This BW is the best one I have ever stayed so far. We reserved for a two queen with a twin sofa bed to accommodate our family of five. I love the amenities in the room and in the lobby. In room: complimentary water. Hand sanitizing gels. Hot cocoa for the kids...etc In lobby: they have this grab and go where they have water bottles and different kind of nutritious bars w paper bags! Tea, coffee and apples (and hot cocoa) are served 24/7 in the lobby. Location: steps to McDonald, Starbucks, some kind of handcrafted pizza place and AMPM (helpful when we got in so late). Breakfast: $5 coupon per registered guest to be used in the diner next door. Free coffee w coupon before 10am. It said $5 off per entree but waitress told us we could just use the total ($5x5) toward our total. Our total after discount came out to $34. Need better planning next time. The omelette we order is good for two in my opinion. At last, we LOVE the soft water system they have. It made my skin soft and my hair clean. This is the first hotel that I encountered which has this system. I will totally recommend it to other friends and families and will make sure we come back again!

    « Great value »

Great staff, fine rooms. Breakfast at Margie's should be skipped, even with the $5 discount. But the little touches were very nice: hard candy in the room, helpful maid service, front desk staff offering discounts for area wineries.

    4
    « Overnight Stop »

We only spent the night while traveling North. The room was very comfortable and quiet. The WiFi was fast and easy to connect. The beds were very comfortable and linens well done. An added bonus was the $5 voucher for each guest for breakfast in a near by coffee house.

    4
    « Nice Best Western »

Nice and clean and the beds were comfy. Internet was a little slow but we managed. We definately liked the heat lamps in the shower area. We were outside most of the time and it was rainy and cold coming back to the room at night.

    4
    « Nice Place »

This is a very nice hotel but it's very pricey. The rooms are great, the location for us was great, & the staff were very nice & friendly. The restaurants near by were very nice. I especially liked Margie's Diner.

    3
    « dark rooms »

The room was clean, but the only window faced the walkway where everyone can see in, so with the curtains closed it was very dark inside. Also, they give you a voucher for a discount at the diner next door, but the diner was terrible. Too expensive for what it was..but there wasn't many other budget options in the area.

« Wine Pick Up Party »

This is a nice hotel in a good location. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. They are always polite and very ready to give any assistance they can. The lobby is always neat and clean and they take care of you as soon as you walk in the door. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place in Paso.

    5
« Great place to stay in Paso »

Nicely appointed, very friendly. Convenient location whether you are travelling on 101 or visiting wine country. Nice exercise room and laundry facilities. Beds are comfortable and the rooms are spacious.

« Very Clean, Nice Hotel »

We stayed here while passing through on a road trip. The check-in experience was very nice, and we were told about the breakfast deal offered at the restaurant next door. When we arrived at our room, we were very happy with all of the features. We had candy in our room, coffee, a couch, and a well-appointed bathroom. You could tell this hotel had been remodeled to offer more amenities in the rooms. Everything was clean. We were very pleased with this hotel, and would recommend it if you are ever in Paso Robles.

    5
« Best of the Best Westerns »

This is literally the best Best Western I have ever stayed at. More like a 4 star because you get a fridge, microwave, and jacuzzi. Extremely clean! Very quiet, even though I was on the first floor and the hotel was full. $5. off breakfast and free coffee at Margies next door. Winery guide and guests leave comments about favorite wineries.

    « West coast tour »

Stoped for over night stay to break journey from Monterey to Santa Barbara, wasn't disappointed clean comfortable rooms helpful staff great little diner next door called margies with discount from hotel for breakfast very big portions share if ur not a big eater would definitely recommend to anyone wanted a stop over

« Best of the Best Westerns »

I often travel along Hwy 101 between the Bay Area and LA and have found this Best Western Plus in Paso Robles to be consistently exceptional in quality and service. They offer a large number of extra amenities - from towels outside the room to clean my car windshield to every bath product one would ever need - and the rooms are super quiet and always very clean. The beds are ultra comfortable for a great night's sleep!

    4
« Clean Room and Friendly »

I have to admit that I was hesitant to stay at a Best Western because I'm a loyal Marriott member. Unfortunately, I had to stay at the Best Western as I was traveling for business and the Marriott was too expensive for my client. Upon arrival, the front desk staff was friendly and very helpful. Augustine and Jordan gave us a list of restaurants at our request and provided their recommendations. It was a very animated and fun conversation. The room was clean and nicer than I expected. It was close to the quaint town where you could walk around to various stores and restaurants. The hotel was also near eateries and there was plenty of parking. The only complaint I have is that the walls seemed thin because we could hear conversations next door and outside. We enjoyed our stay.

    5
« Very comfortable and clean »

We stayed there for a wine tour and the hotel was very comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly and the restaurant next door was excellent. I would definitely plan to spend time there again next year.

    3
« Desperately need to update the TV menu/guide »

Second BW hotel in two weeks and both had a TV menu that was difficult to use and only one had a list of available stations. To find a channel on the menu, one must go through the entire menu that scrolls very very slowly.

    « C DiMeo »

Although the cost of our stay was heightened due to an in-town event, the quality of our stay was Excellent! We really enjoyed the fitness center and the staff was kind and hospitable. The proximity of the restaurants also made our stay convenient.

    « great half-way stop to SoCal »

we used to travel from san mateo to ventura in one day. we decided to break up the drive into 2 days and stay in paso robles to make the trip more enjoyable. this property is perfect! the staff is friendly and caring, it's a great value, could find no fault with our accommodation, and the proximity of margie's diner, and other eating places so close by is AWEsome. we would not consider staying anywhere else in paso.

    « Really Nice »

I am going to remember this hotel for future road trips. I stayed here just as an overnight stop while traveling with my two small children. I reserved a room with a king size bed and was upgraded to a room with an additional sofa bed. This was a very nice room. Some Best Westerns are much better than others, I know you'll have better luck with a Best Western Plus which this hotel is. They seem to pay a lot more attention to detail. Our room had a microwave in addition to the mini fridge and a nice vanity type area above which I ended up using for food stuffs. The bathroom was split so there was a sink in the area with the toilet in addition to the outer area where the closet was. Also the bathtub was nice and deep and jetted. The room was spacious, and quiet. The only thing I can complain about is the smell of cigarettes. I noticed a woman smoking in her doorway of a neighboring room so that was probably why my room smelled like cigarettes but it was disappointing either way. This hotel does not serve a complimentary breakfast, but they share their building with an American style diner and offer coupons. We did not eat there so I couldn't recommend it but the woman at the front desk recommended it to me. Luckily though there are several places to eat that neighbor the hotel, as well as a drive through Starbucks which was perfect and much needed for me in the morning. Hotel coffee is never good. If I am ever staying in Paso Robles I will most likely stay here, and I definitely will if I am just passing through.

    « Good »

This hotel is very nice, staff is nice, rooms are comfy, however, I'm not sure or I believe they don't offer continental breakfast which is the only downfall. Everything else was great!!! I previously reserved a room here in May 16' on the 2nd floor and the room was nice. This reservation in Sept 16' the room was a lot nicer on the 1st floor.

« Good Amenities; friendly staff »

Enjoyed a one night stay on a vacation trip. I think this motel has improved in the last year, and we had time to take advantage of the fitness room:stationary bike and treadmill, and the jacuzzi. Like the check-out at noon. We were given quite a few coupons for wine tasting and discount possibilities for purchasing wine. Also, a wine country map. Very helpful for future reference. The staff was hands down the friendliest I've been in contact with, probably ever.

« A Weekend in Paso Robles CA »

For one of their events the folks at J Lohr booked us in for two nights at this motel. It was quiet, roomy, well-equipped - super clean, of course - and the staff was friendly and most professional. There is plenty of parking and Margie's Diner ( other eateries are also very close by) is literally on the premises. We'd stay here again when in town and recommend you do, too.

    5
    « Wine Country Getway »

This was a very inviting, well run, clean hotel, with a friendly personable staff. The grounds and pool are were very attractive. My only complaint was motorcycle noise from other guests mostly in the morning.

« Great local affordable Paso Hotel. »

Amazingly clean, quiet, lots of little surprise amenities in the room. The bed was comfy/good, not soft, not hard. A nice reclining chair in the room was a surprise. The decor of the rooms are very wine country. Staff was super friendly. The free coffee in the lobby was average. If you want better coffee, Starbucks is a minute walk. Great location to hop on and off the 101. Very close to downtown and both east and west 46 wineries. The pool area was really clean and the staff will give you pool towels with a ring of the bell by the pool window. I plan on staying again, my next visit to Paso.

    5
    « Clean and comfortable »

The bed was very comfortable which was important with our long drive ahead. The staff was friendly. We felt very good about our overall lodging experience there. They gave us a voucher good for $5.00 off when we bought breakfast at the adjacent restaurant.

    5
« Best BW plus by far »

Only stayed two nights at the Black Oak and was impressed by the high standard of the whole complex. The rooms are of a very high fit out including a microwave and fridge. We used the pool to relax on both of our days but did not get to use the sauna & jacuzzi. Margie's diner next door is extremely handy if you do not want to venture too far. This BW plus is easily the best we have ever encountered.

    4
« Excellent Value for the money. VERY clean hotel with unexpected amenities. »

We were only there for one night, but I wish we had more time to enjoy this lovely hotel. Our room was large, with a microwave and mini-fridge. The bed was super comfy. We didn't get a chance to use the pool, but it looked very inviting. The grounds are extremely well maintained. We will be back for sure.

    5
    « Best - Best Western I have ever stayed at ! »

All the kind things other reviewers have pointed out were part of our stay. Best value in Paso Robles. As the owner of vacation properties this is the way it should be done. It is not fancy, just solid.

« Clean comfortable rooms in Paso Robles »

We were visiting the California Missions and touring wine country when we came across the BW Black Oak. We had stayed at some pretty bad places over the previous week, so we were thrilled when we came to the Black Oak. Large, well appointed rooms. Easy access. Very reasonable price. Close to restaurants and of course wineries. They don't have complimentary breakfast, but they do have a $5 off coupon for the adjacent restaurant which brings the price down to something reasonable. Nice pool too.

    « Surpassed expectations »

After scanning different booking websites we decided to just visit a couple of hotels before deciding on putting our luggage in a room. The Black Oaks looked very welcoming, recently built or at least renovated and though we didn't have a reservation we received a very decent rate for a very comfortable, spacious , welcoming room. The only drawback was the room was next to the vending machines and thy tend to be a meeting place for people holding conversations while they are completely oblivious of the time. Beautiful pool, renovated exercise room, and an elevator to get the guests to the upper level rooms. The Front Desk employees were the best I have encountered in a very long time even at 4 star hotels. One didn't have to ask for anything, help was proposed automatically. Jordan, Augustin, and a lady whose name I unfortunately forgot were above and beyond. I recommend this property highly.

    4
« Very comfortable with friendly staff »

Great place as a base for wine tasting in the region and Margie's diner is right there where a rather large breakfast will help line the stomach. The staff are friendly and the room clean and comfortable. I did hear the neighbor above us but fortunately that didn't keep me awake. Close to town where there is no shortage of restaurants from which to choose. Will happily come back.

    4
« Overnight travelling from San Francisco to Los Angeles »

I stayed at this hotel for one night whilst driving from San Fran to LA. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and quickly booked us a room and checked us in. The room was a good size with a comfortable bed. The bathroom was XL in comparison to some hotels I have stayed in. There was a jacuzzi and pool area which looked like a lot of fun but sadly I didn't get to use it. Our room overlooked the pool. The hotel is just over the way from a retail park which was handy. I ate at Tahoe Joes which was great.

    3
« Decent and spacious room but... »

The rooms seemed to have been either remodeled or just nicer then the best westerns I've stayed at in the past BUT we were here for 4 nights and the staff was just disappointing. The trip was half pleasure and half business so I did have some things I needed to take care of and had to use their computer and printer. Their FREE wifi didn't work in the rooms or the office. The 1 computer wasn't working because of server issues either. The frustrating part was when I asked the staff for assistance and they acted too busy to even acknowledge me. They bad mouthed other guests while I was in the room and went so far as to say that they would charge some guest (that made them angry) an additional "deposit" just because. They explained amongst themselves that they would justify it somehow later. Other than that it was a good place to stay at.

    4
    « Paso Robles, CA »

This hotel is perfectly convenient to the Central Coast Wine area. I was very comfortable, though the walls were not soundproofed. The room was clean and appointed with new furnishings. The hotel staff was attentive and overall I thought the property was very well maintained. Loved the pool, too.

    4
    « Great hotel »

Room was clean and in addition to the usual amenities had a few nice touches like bottled water, a dish of hard candy, multiple free newspapers and a pocket-size bottle of hand sanitizer. Marge's Diner next door has huge meals you can share. A coupon from Best Western gives you free coffee and $5 off breakfast per person. We would stay here again.

    2
« Did not get what was paid for »

We booked for 4 people and on arrival were told that they could only offer a single bed room. We were provided a roll in bed that was in really bad condition. We ended up putting the roll in bed mattress on the floor. Please note that in summer the rates of this places are on par with some "luxury" hotels.

    5
« We will stay here every time. »

I recently have been doing a lot of traveling and this is by far the nicest the cleanest and a great location for a motel of this price range. The location had several places to eat, a Starbucks and a Chevron gas station all located within walking distance and close to the freeway without freeway noise.

    5
« One of top Best Western hotels I have stayed at »

Great hotel all in all. Spacious, clean, nice rooms in good layout round the property. Great pool area and even sauna! Friendly helpful staff at all times. A 20 mins walk or 5-10 mins drive down town. Right next door to the hotel you can buy full breakfast at some reduced price. Good stay!

    1
« Not for the disabled »

We asked for a disabled equipped room and got what they claimed was one. However, the bathroom was so small a walker didn't fit into it. Worse yet, in order to take a shower, you had to climb over the high side into the bathtub. Disabled people should certainly avoid this hotel. Also, if the state of the mattresses in that room is typical of the other rooms, everyone should stay away. They were terribly soft and lumpy. The room cost over $200 for one night and was a terrible value.

« Exceeded expectations in every category »

Why stay at a "5-star" hotel when you get everything they have, other than the cost and the fancy bar, for less, with better service? The staff was exceptional at points of my stay. The room is very large, very clean, very new.

    5
« Very comfortable, great service »

This hotel is very centrally located, very clean and comfortable. The service was above and beyond. I was accidentally placed in a smoking room, and the staff quickly and courteously moved my things for me to a nonsmoking room. Everyone was very friendly and professional. Great value for the price.

    5
« Wow! They Have Upgraded! »

This used to be our Paso Robles stop, but in recent years we have chosen newer properties. This year we tried Black Oak again, and were pleasantly surprised by the general improvements. The air conditioning units always seemed noisy to us, but they have been replaced, ours the day we arrived. Our room was well equipped, with refrigerator, microwave, etc., etc. It was a very nice large room. The facility is close to freeway access, is well priced, and is well managed. The Black Oak is once again our lodging of choice in Paso Robles, and is within a few steps of several places to eat.

Of all the Best Western hotels we have stayed at, this is the Best with ALL the in-room commodities you could wish for, plus pool and exercise room!! First time staying in a Best Western and was pleasantly surprised with how nice they are. I feel that this one was a little pricey for what you get. We stayed in one in Healdsburg and it was not as expensive as you and it was a Villa. Very nice.

« BEST WESTERN BLACK OAK AMAZING!!! »

The Best Western Plus Black Oak is THE most incredible hidden jewel in Paso Robles! Family owned for decades, The Black Oak has the most AMAZING staff, clean, beautiful rooms, and it's a great value to boot!! We stayed with the marvelous people at the Black Oak, for a week during the California Mid-State Fair. The staff warned us that it would be busy, and could be terribly noisy. At first I had trepidations about staying, as I'm a very light sleeper. No worries at all!! Even with some of the world's most talented musicians right across the street..it was quiet, and peaceful!! The restaurant right on property is called "Margie's Diner" and it serves the best, and most food we've ever seen!! (It's actually so delicious, and such big portions..it should be illegal) ?? The Best Western Plus Black Oak is hands down THE Best place to stay in Paso Robles!

    « Finally Stayed Here »

Over 40 years ago we lived in the area and drove by many times on trips on 101. We decided to stay in the north county of San Luis Obispo this trip. What a treat. Convenient and easy to access with plenty of parking near our room. Property is well kept. Room was comfortable and tastefully decorated. What a change from some of the the other Best Westerns where we stayed. Front Desk Staff available, courteous, and very helpful.

« A good hotel to stay at while visit Paso Robles »

« Agreat place to stay after driving all day. »

We were very pleasantly surprised by the welcoming attitude of the staff. The room was very pleasant and had to vanity sinks, which we really liked. We didn't want to drive to a restaurant so we appreciated the option of having very good pizza delivered. The room was quiet and the bed was comfortable. When we left in the morning I forgot my wallet. After about an hour I realized it and we went back. The housekeeping staff had already cleaned the room and taken the wallet to the office. (Whew!) Overall our experience at the BW Black Oak was outstanding.

« Expensive but not too many others options at Paso Robles »

So we'd initially considered AirBnb as the stay options seemed much cheaper but my dear wife ended up spooking herself after watching too many episodes of "The Mentalist" that some Red John-esque person might just walk in unchecked at any of the AirBnb ranches and cause us some measure of discomfort :-/ Okay, so we went for this hotel instead - which was quite expensive as it was the Wildflower Triathlon season and had a fair mix of pros and cons. The rooms were big and as we were on the ground floor, we could keep both our bikes inside the room which was a huge plus. Free parking was an added bonus. I think that's where the list of offerings capped out though. The place didn't really have many hands for any sort of "room service" and even when I asked for a shaving kit - the lady at the front-desk immediately offered one that I would have to collect from the reception. Not saying that it was a problem, it's just different from most of the other hotels you'd pay so much for. This place didn't have breakfast of 24x7 menu you could order from. They do give you a $5 coupon that you can use while ordering breakfast from "Maggie's Corner" (was that the name?). The staff is accommodating on the whole and allowed us a generous late check-out after the Sunday race. You'll find it good if you remember that this is a small town with limited people & facilities and if you're okay with a comfortable place but very limited services, you'll find this place fine.

It was just great, a very nice hotel, we liked that it was across the street from the Paso Fair, very conveinient for us. We have stayed here before and will stay again

Very clean and comfortable hotel. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. Very nice pool, hot tub and gym. Next door to a great restaurant and a strip mall with more good places to eat. Directly across the street from one of the Mid State Fair entrance gates. The cost was a little expensive due to the fair being in town, but still worth it!

As you pull in you feel like you are stepping back into a 70's style hotel. As you get out of your car and meet the staff you know you've picked the right place. The front desk staff was very accommodating and friendly. They made us feel right at home and were very helpful with explaining the hotel and amenities. Rooms were clean, pool was clean and well maintained, looks like they really give this place some TLC. Lastly, attached is a nice diner for breakfast. Make sure you stop by the front desk and you will receive a $5 coupon off your breakfast.

Really nice hotel. The location is wonderful, really close to the square,(driving distance). Good location for wine tasting. Sometimes they have wine tasting in the lobby featuring a specific winery. The pool is nice and they even have a sauna!

    « average motel »

Rooms were a bit old and the property was somewhat tired looking. The front desk staff was extremely nice and professional. I would call this a very average place. The price was fine but I don't think I'd stay here again. Nothing really bad, just not good enough for the money.

    « Fast Trip »

We were just there over night but the staff, location, and the room were wonderful The Restaurant was great and you got a lot of food for the money. Would stay there again. and would recommend to anyone. Thank you for the great experience

    « Unexpected gem »

After driving along the Pacific Coast Highway for several days it was great to find this BW Plus after leaving the coast. In wine country so several hotels to pick from. Quick check in and friendly service. There was a restaurant on site & five dollar discount on breakfast. Easy check out with hot coffee for the road.

    « Loved my Stay! »

Loved my stay, room was immaculate, pool was clean, staff was friendly. Will definitely stay again. Location was perfect, in walking distance of many restaurants. Very family friendly was a nice area of green grass and bbq area for the kids to play in. I even liked the frames in the room which were real pictures of paso Robles.

    « Good value »

We stayed 2 nights and paid about £230. No breakfast but café next door. Helpful staff Very good location for main highway. and about 10mins drive to town Very nice pool and hot tub. Big rooms, nice furniture well lit. Good range of toiletries, small bathroom. The open access corridors are carpeted so noise is reduced. We also ate at the Big Bubbas BBQ place next door - rubbish

    « Nice Motel »

The Black Oak is a very nice and comfortable motel. However it is also very overpriced. The room rate was $235.00. On this trip I stayed at ocean front properties that cost $175.00 per night and I knew I was paying for the view. The only thing the Black Oak had was freeway access. No view whatsoever. Comfortable as it was, the price was ridiculous.

« Great facility, great staff! »

We were greeted by McKenzie who was pleasant and professional. We were in our rooms in less than 5 minutes. We had smelled BBQ someplace in the vicinity, but were not sure where it was coming from. Larry in the office directed us to a great restaurant for dinner, just next door. The room was comfortable and clean and we were able to put the day behind us. As we got ready to leave my wife asked Anna about the flowers we saw in her garden. Again we were met with a pleasant smile and information that started our day off just right. Great facility, but even greater staff! TYVM

    « Good Location »

Good location close to downtown and highway. Good size clean rooms. Pool and spa are clean and easily accessible, both have a accessible lifts. Spent 4 nights here on a wine tasting weekend with friends. Safe and clean, staff was eager to help with any recommendations.

    « Bargain »

We stayed 2 nights @ this Best Western Black Oak. To us, it was in a perfect location. Just outside of downtown district, and centrally located to most of the wineries. Started out with a very pleasant greeting by Anna. She was very courteous and helpful with ideas for wineries. She gave us coupons too, that saved us up to 20%! The room was very clean with ample supplies. The bed was "super cozy" as my wife would say. It is right off the 101, but we could not hear a peep of any traffic. Already looking forward to our next stay there.

    « Nice local motel »

We were in town to see a concert and a friend made the reservation. The staff was friendly and the accommodations suited our purpose just fine. A little pricey for a Best Western but we chalked that up to the demand in the area.

    « Treasure!!! »

My husband and our four kids stayed here in the suite and had the best time! This hotel is clean, in walking distance of food and has beautiful flowers. The outside swimming pool is refreshing and uses very little if any harsh chemicals. Salt water perhaps? Either way it was wonderful! Lastly, this hotel feel a little like a well kept home?? I would highly recommend.

    4
    « A Good Experience »

The location is excellent. The grounds are beautifully landscaped. The front desk staff is courteous and helpful. Our room was large, clean and very comfortable. Vouchers are given for breakfast at the restaurant next door. Delicious food. We will stay here again.

« Small Hotel Great Price; Good for Families »

Great hotel, only issue 3 PM check in. Walked in and they said they would text when our room was ready - never let us know. We still checked in earlier than normal though - we went back and inquired. Pool is great - salt water. Used it a couple of times throughout the trip. Fitness center is perfect for a small hotel. Breakfast gives you a credit for the restaurant across the way. Big food and you can definitely split - portions are huge.

« Great place to stay »

We've stayed here a few other times and have always liked this location a lot. While it has an old fashioned look the rooms are very comfortable. Having a large sink area not in with the tub is handy and a light in the closet was really a good plan. Office people were great and helpful. Comes with a coupon for $5 off a huge breakfast at Margies.

    5
« Very nice mid range hotel »

We were here with a small group to celebrate our anniversary. The staff was very helpful and friendly, and helped us with small details. The rooms were very comfortable, nicely furnished and clean. Some of our friends used the pool, which was larger than many motels have now days and attractively landscaped. The property is close to wineries, fairgrounds, etc, and a mile from downtown. We'd definitely stay there again.

    4
« Good place for a night, but pricey »

We decided to go to Paso on Friday for a Saturday night stay, so our options were a bit limited. Black Oak had a room for $300, a but steep for a motel but that's booking late, isn't it? Easy to find, easy parking. Hotel staff were prompt and friendly. Room was fine, good sized. Didn't have any outside noise issues since the air conditioner was on all night and that effectively drowned out any outside noise. Nice enough place.

    5
« Very nice, as usual »

We have friends in Paso Robles we visit every couple of years. We usually stay at the Black Oak. Occasionally, when they have been booked we've said at other nearby hotels. In our opinion, this is the nicest hotel in Paso. We go during the summer so we can take advantage of the very nice pool and hot tube. Lots of shaded areas (which you need when it is 100+. The front office has excellent coffee in the morning (plus coffee maker in room, also good coffee) and choice of several newspapers including USA Today and WSJ. Margie's diner is right next door and BW gives you a coupon $5 off breakfast (one per occupant) plus free coffee, resulting in a great breakfast and a great priceWe highly enjoy our stays here and would recommend highly. PR is a very nice place to visit, with all the wineries and very nice downtown around the square.

    5
« First time at Best Western »

We chose this place for its location and the fact that they do not allow pets or smoking. Our room on the ground level was very convenient with parking just outside. The double queen room was spacious, and the bathroom area(s) were well stocked with toiletries (better by far than most chain hotels!). Easy walk to Starbucks and the best pizza we have had in a long time. Would definitely consider Best Western over Courtyard again. We cancelled a reservation at a location nearby to stay here on our return trip.

    5
« Great Location, Great Restaurant »

This is our favorite hotel to stay when we visit Paso Robles for wine tasting. They made their room very comfortable and the restaurant was great. What I really appreciated was that they had two complimentary bottled water for us! We have been to many Best Western and this is the only one doing that.

    5
    « Great experience! »

Exceptional place to stay for us since pets were NOT allowed and all rooms were smoke free. Ground floor access was convenient, as was parking. Toiletries were generous and much better than at similarly prices chains.

    « Good location! »

Stayed for the first time at this hotel, and thought the hotel was in a good location. The exterior of the property is nicely done, and the pool looks inviting. I liked that my husband and I could drive our car right up to the doorway of our room, making it easy to unload our bags. The room looks dated, but all amenities are there (what I would expect from a hotel). The restaurant on the property is convenient, and the food is very good. Unfortunately, we found the service to be terrible, it took forever to get a glass of water, and when brought to the table was not even reachable. Next time we go to Paso Robles, we might choose this hotel, but I would choose another place to eat.

    5
    « Great Hospitality »

Awesome location and property! Very family friendly! My family and I can definitely count on Best Western Plus to accommodate all of our needs while on the road. I highly recommend this location and the near by restaurants.

    5
    « Very Accommodating »

I had inadvertently booked the next day on the app thinking I was booked for the current afternoon. Since they were already sold out for that afternoon, without hesitation, cancelled my reservation and found me one available room. I was on the AIDS/LifeCycle ride and was tired so them being so accommodating was GREATLY appreciated.

« Cal Poly Graduation Stay »

Very affordable to be able to attend my son's college graduation in San Luis Obispo. Only about 1/2 hour away. Room was clean and nice. Felt very safe and comfortable. There were numerous food options nearby but I did not try them.

    5
« The BEST Best Western »

BW+ Black Oak is an EXCELLENT hotel in its class. The young lady at reception for our late check-in was absolutely delightful. The upgraded room had all the amenities you can imagine, and was in perfect condition. The breakfast arrangement with the adjacent diner proved very successful, particularly with the absolutely appropriate warnings of their HUGE portions, good for sharing between two (or three). Truly to be recommended!

    5
    « Super fine »

We have stayed at the Black Oak for many years and have always had a positive experience. It is one of the nicest places ever. The staff is very professional and helpful to the max. Always look forward to our trips to Northern California so we have a reason for staying there, Also, there is a great restaurant just around the corner - Bubba's Bad BBQ. Can't wait for our nest trip!!!

    5
« A must staywhen visiting Paso Robles »

Total 10 plus stay. One of the best hotels and most comfortable bed in a very long time. The staff was super helpful and the housekeeping did a great job. The hotel is centrally located making it easy to go on either the 46 or 101 when visiting local wineries.

    4
    « comfortable »

This hotel is my preferred place to stay while in Paso Robles. its close to the highway (but not so close that you can hear traffic), and near downtown. The exercise room and pool area are all very nice. The grounds are always in bloom with beautiful flowers

    5
    « Above and beyond... »

This is a place that has staff on duty that the other night went above and beyond to look out for the safety of myself and grandchild. Made sure we had a room to get the proper rest needed before getting back on the road. I highly recommend this place... very clean, friendly, genuine people who care about a weary traveler(s).

    5
    « Ideal location! »

Stayed three nights to do some wine tasting and visit the coast! Room and staff were wonderful, all that we needed and expected. The hotel is right off the 46 and the 101 and close to downtown Paso. It had all we needed for a great stay in a great area of California. We had great breakfasts at the diner, right on property with discount vouchers from the hotel and even were provided with discount coupons for wine tastings at several of the wineries. All you have to do is tell the front desk what wineries you're visiting and they check if they have any vouchers for you. They also have an abundance of local publications which also have a wealth of info on the happenings around the area. Great jumping off point for a visit to attractions on the coast, like Elephant Seal Beach, Hearst Castle, Cambria and Harmony, to mention a few. Will stay here again and again when visiting the central coast of California.

    « Really Nice »

We stopped here after along day of motorcycle riding and asked for any available rooms. The front desk clerk (Sorry I dont remember his name) was very helpful, he had a limited amount of rooms and we were offered a smoking room. We took it, we are not smokers but we needed a room. The room was very clean and comfortable, slightly dated but ok for one night. The pool was welcome since we just rode 4 hours in way to hot conditions. We enjoyed the stay and would recommend this hotel.

    4
    « Location, Location, Location... »

Great place to stay in Paso Robles. Less than a mile from downtown, but more important is that with several hundred wineries within 15 miles travel distances are about equal to the West and South, but much easier getting to the North and East than if we stay further South.

    5
« Support Staff went above and beyond! »

The staff at the front desk, housekeeping, and Engineering went above and beyond to accommodate my special needs during my stay. Well Done! My only disappointment was that I had to extend my stay, and the rates for ALL hotels in the Paso Robles area went up about 300% due to the Paso Robles Wine Fest. This made staying in the area prohibitively expensive. I think this is a big disservice to all visitors to the area, marking up all beds just because of this festival. I would not come to this area if possible during this time of year again. =(

    5
    « Comfortable Stay! »

This Best Western is the best we have stayed at. The grounds are beautiful. The room was airy and the toilet area even had a window. I love windows in bathrooms. This hotel made for a very comfortable stay.

    5
    « Getaway »

Wonderful people working here made our stay even better. The room was large, clean and had everything we could want. It is situated in the wine tasting corridor right next to a few good restaurants, convenience stores and gas stations. We were there to do a bit of wine tasting and this was a very convenient place to stay. The on site restaurant, Margies diner, served us a great breakfast - we got a $5 off coupon so decided to try it. We ended up sharing the portions were so big

    4
    « Nice hotel »

Stayed here with a large group. Hotel was accommodating and comfortable. Room was comfy and nicely kept. I would stay there again and recommend this property to others wanting accommodations in this area/price range.

    3
    « Staff was nice. »

I came to Paso Robles to visit an old highschool friend of mine. When I arrived the hotel seemed nice. The rooms were a tad dated but still very nice for their price. I run a few smaller hotels but to me staff appearance is key. The front desk staff were all uniformed and it was very professional. Although I was a bit appalled when a women who I believe was the hotels manager came in though the door after me and was wearing sweatpants and what looked to be a dirty shirt. For a staff to be better dressed than their manager seems to me that the have a problem with leadership. Other then that the staff seemed friendly, I got a hello from every staff member I walked by whether it be housekeeping, maintenance, or the front desk staff. They seemed to be more than willing to help with anything I needed. The stay is good for its price. Would recommend.

« best western plus, paso robles »

Very attentive staff and friendly. Clean and stocked rooms. On site food was good. Parking was close to room, breakfast discount coupons and great location. Was able to use an Uber without difficulty and we had a large group that was accommodated nicely.

    5
    « Appearance and Staff »

The landscaping is beautiful, very clean and meticulous. It was the first thing that struck my eyes. The architecture is elegant, and the decor very pleasing to look at. My room was spacious, and the placement of the furniture displayed good ergonomics.

    2
« Rooms are dated but bed and shower was good »

Pluses were the beds and showers and the fitness room is new but the room décor is dated and the grounds are not that pretty. Service was fine but id say the right price per night is more in the 125 - 150 rancge

    « Wine country experience »

This is an older hotel but maintained great. Rooms are large, comfortable bed and pillows. Housekeeping is the best we have ever had. There is an adjacent café we used for breakfast and lots of areas to eat around the hotel. Very convenient. Overall loved it and will return.

    5
    « Very comfortable »

Best Western Black Oak Hotel,in Paso Robles provides a wonderful relaxing experience every time I'm there. The rooms are beautiful, comfortable, and quiet.I'm always refreshed when I leave.Excellent place to stay.

    4
« Nice location, clean room »

The location was ideal and we also felt safe. The staff was welcoming, the room was clean and nicely decorated. What we enjoyed the most was the discount coupon toward breakfast in a nice diner next door -- it sure beat the usual cheap breakfasts available at many hotels. We definitely would recommend the Black Oak.

    5
    « Great Experience »

Had a brief girl friend getaway and needed a nice place to stay overnight. This Best Western fit the bill perfectly. Clean and safe and conveniently located to local sites, wineries and easy access to Cambria on the coast. Would recommend without hesitation.

    4
    « Great experience »

Needed a place to stop over on a road trip. Quiet, clean hotel with very friendly and attentive staff. I liked the breakfast at Margie's Diner, too. Will be coming here every time I am in Paso Robles.

« One Day Wine Tasting »

Arrived with family which included wife, sister-in-law and her son. The Best Western was excellent in regards to service. Had a pool and also a Jacuzzi that was enclosed. Rooms were clean and in order. Enough parking space which we parked in front of our rooms. Wineries were in the area but enjoyed San Antonio's Winery and others which were down highway 46. When we left the front desk gave us a receipt to go next door to restaurant for $5 discount on breakfast. We will return soon.

    5
« Attention to Detail Makes this Hotel a Delight »

The rooms show an attention to detail. Everything was perfectly clean, perfectly operable, and thoughtful in execution. The grounds are immaculate an ordinary building is surrounded by extraordinary gardens.

    5
    « Wonderful stay »

We were greeted by friendly and enthusiastic staff in the lobby. They provided discount coupons to local wineries without us even asking. The room was clean and everything worked! Each time we returned to the lobby over the 3 day stay the staff was friendly and pleasant to deal with/

    5
    « Convenient & Comfortable »

Very clean and well designed rooms. Convenient location near freeway and Mid-State Fairgrounds. Extremely nice staff! Walking distance to many restaurants. Easy access to park close to your room. Nicely kept grounds.

    5
« Wonderful service and amenities »

This seemed a little pricey for a best western but it really is a perfect place. Everything was clean and attractive. Great amenities ie. Pool, jacuzzi, restaurant with free coffee, gym, charging station for electric vehicles, and conference room. Great service from everyone. Very close to town. All and all a great visit.

    « great trip »

This facility offers a great room, a great price, and the best, friendliest staff. I have stayed here previously and found the visit just the same. The staff go out of their way to help in any way they can. I will stay here again any time I come to Paso Robles

« Very Convenient to Junction of CA46 and CA101. »

We were traveling to Monterey, Ca and this was a good place to stop. We had stayed once many years ago which is why we picked it (there were competitors close bye). We got a second floor room in the back away from highway sounds. A nice king bed, a clean room, a bath (a must for my wife). Free parking and free wi-fi. Walk to Margie's Diner.

    « Over Expectations »

We stayed in this hotel during our wine tasting tour. Since we selected this hotel from the web we didnot know the outcome. It came out to be a very clean and quiet hotel. We couldnot enjoy the pool since we stayed overnight but the surroundings were fine. The reception desk was very helpful. The rooms were very large and clean, over our expectations. Free wif and a flat screet. In the morning there was no need to check out. Everything was very satisfactory. I will definetely stay in this hotel in my next visit. Highly recommended.

« What a great front desk agent! Augustine.... »

My daughter and I traveled to Paso Robles from Monterey to visit the Three Speckled Hens flea market event that took place this weekend. We chose to stay at this hotel mainly due to it being a Best Western....but we had no idea it would be so convenient to the fairgrounds, great restaurants, wine tasting venues and employ a friendly, professional, informative agent named Augustine. He was great...I look forward to another reason to visit Paso Robles and stay at this hotel again...thank you!!

    5
« Nice hotel and pool. »

Probably one of the best hotels we stopped at during our California road trip. Well maintained and lovely pool. Went next door to Big Bubbas and had a great meal. This consisted of a salad which was enormous, one fed us both. Recommended.

    5
« Nice Clean place, great staff »

Quick, clean and friendly staff. Breakfast was at the adjacent restaurant, and they give you a $5 voucher daily, wish didn't help much, so we only ate there once. Good food though! Parking lot safe and well lit. Clean and comfortable. Right across the street from the event we attended.(Horse Show)

    « best beds ever! »

We always stay at the Best Western in Paso Robles on our way to San Francisco - Great restaurants in Paso and it breaks up the long drive. The beds at this Best Western are fabulous and the whole place is clean and nice.

    4
« Great Place to Stay! »

Had a nice weekend in Paso Robles. The hotel is very convenient to freeway, wineries and restaurants. Facilities were clean and up to date. Price is a bit high but wanted a place with a Jacuzzi and restaurant option.

    3
    « Over-Priced »

For over $200/night, I think there should be something more special about this experience. The rooms are fine, although there is some paint and tile chipping going on. The bed seemed somewhat soft. But the problem for us was the breakfast--a $5.00 coupon in a close-by diner that provided gargantuan plates of food, and cost much more than $5.00. By and large, I have found that Best Western Plus breakfast buffets are pretty good; so was surprised with this one. I would probably try to find another place to stay were I to return to Paso Robles.

« On the Road Overnight »

Good hotel for business traveler, convenient highway access but not as close to the downtown square as I'd like. Restaurant on property suitable for breakfast only by convenient. Has a pool, but no hot tub.

    5
« Wonderful Place to stay in Paso Robles »

This Best Western is very nice and the rooms are very clean, nicely decorated and is very comfortable. The Front Desk is very accommodating, the fitness room is very clean and nice equipment. Beds are very comfortable.

    4
« Biofriendly To Go Please! »

Aside from the lack of organic/biofriendly amenity products in the rooms and the obvious use of petroleum-based cleaners, the hotel provided an excellent overnight stay at an affordable price. I would suggest making changes to the products you use to reflect the changes found in other hotels.

    5
« Great, great place to stay »

Everything about this Best Western is amazing. It was a little more money than I wanted to spend, but it was truly exceptional. I was amazed by the grounds and the flowers. But the service at the reception was exceptional and stands out the most.

    5
    « Paso Robles stay »

This is an excellent hotel. It has great curb appeal and is an excellent value. The property is clean and very well maintained. There is a fitness center, a heated pool and jacuzzi. There are restaurants next to the property. In addition, the county fairgrounds is located across the street. This is my choice of places to stay when in the Paso Robles area!

    5
« Excellent rooms, excellent service?. »

After a series of mediocre BW stays in California, this place really restored my faith in the franchise. Very nicely appointed room, clean and inviting?. Excellent staff. Great selection of tea and coffee in the reception area, even (tasty) apples. Did not try the restaurant for breakfast, but, overall, pleased with the stay!

    4
    « Great Location »

Best Western is in a great location to downtown and the vineyards. Very clean rooms, excellent value for the price. We will return to Best Western when we return for another wine and olive tasting trip.

    5
    « Best BW »

Always a pleasure to stay here. The hotel is super nice and there are plenty of things to see and do in this area, There is also a great BBQ place right next door; very good food and friendly atmosphere. There are still a couple of antique stores in the downtown area.

    5
    « Busy Weekend Stay »

We've stayed here before and always had a nice stay. This year, there were some issues with my reservation. Even months after the stay, Angela was VERY helpful in solving the problems with reservations and charges.

    « Nice Budget Motel »

I checked into this motel for a weekend of wine tasting with friends. The check-in experience was pleasant and efficient. The room was clean with all the expected amenities. The bed was uncomfortable (trampoline like) and the pillows were fiber fill also uncomfortable. Plenty of hot water. Sink had a problem draining(slow). Maids were professional and efficient. EV chargers were available and used.

« Black Oak, Paso Robles »

This motel is beyond compare when you consider the lovely gardens that surround it. They are beautiful. In the room itself, they have taken extra care with the main necessities....such as having a very comfortable bed. There are other unexpected, but thoughtful touches, that made this room very special

    5
    « wonderful as always »

There isn't anything at all that I can say that is wrong with this hotel property. The location is great, the area is great, the pool is so wonderful. The room so comfortable... Just a great stay as always.

    5
    « Horse Show Accommodations »

While in town for the APHA show, we stayed at the Best Western. It was very conveniently located to the show ring. The rooms were clean, The shower warm in the morning. I did not hear noise from the other rooms. We used the hot tub in the evening. It was a great place to rest up for the big show.

    5
« Nice half way stop »

Stayed here with my daughter and 4 small grandchildren on our way from SoCal to NorCal. Great, pretty drive, and good spot to land for the night. Clean, safe, will stay again. Walk across the parking lot to dinner, we had a great meal at Wood fire Pizza, try it!

« Wine county get away »

Great Location when visiting the wine country. It is our third time staying at this hotel. Well over 200 wineries in the area. Rooms were quiet. Great Staff. They were very helpful. They had coffee available early morning in the lobby (before 5am).

    5
    « great stay! »

This was a great stop along the 101. The staff was very friendly, and even upgraded our room since we wanted down stairs. The rooms had lots of room to move around. It also came with lots of little amenities that were focused on the small details. There are also a few local restaurants within walking distance. We highly recommend this hotel.

    4
    « short getaway »

The staff and the facility met all our expectations. The staff was friendly, the room was quiet and the bed was confortable. We ll be back. I wouldn't eat at the coffee shop next door, there are vouchers available buut there are oplaenty of dining options nearby.

    3
« If you want sleep dont stay here »

Although this hotel is situated right off the freeway and directly across from the fairgrounds so location is great. This place lacks in the quality of the rooms very drab, stains on carpet, curtains don't close completely for privacy especially when you are on the ground floor. The worst is the walls are paper thin and you can hear all noises from above and below toilets flushing, bath and shower running in the middle of the night when you are in a dead sleep and the party folks come back to there rooms. Horrible experience

    5
« Wine country events weekend »

Very comfortable room, centrally located, nice staff. Will stay again next time down from Oregon. Nice grounds, great breakfast next door, Starbucks around the corner too. Room was very nice and comfortable bed too.

    5
« The prettiest grounds ever! »

This is not my first time staying at this hotel. I keep coming back because: it's very clean, friendly, and convenient. The rooms are always sparkling clean, especially the bathrooms. Lots of amenities, soft towels, and very comfortable. The desk staff are always friendly, and very helpful. Ask for coupons for tasting at nearby wineries. The hotel is walking distance to a great diner. Stop in the office before 9:45 a.m. for a $5 discount on your breakfast. There's also a Starbucks near the hotel entrance. And the grounds are just beautiful! Flowers and green plants everywhere, 2 picnic areas, several fountains. Check the trees, see how many funny faces you can find. Somewhere there's a gardener who really loves his job!

« BW Black Oak is great! »

Every year we and our friends stay at the Best Western Black Oak hotel during the Paso Robles Zinfandel Festival. It's very clean, attractive, and centrally located. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. The hotel gives coupons ($5pp) for eating breakfast at the attached Margie's Dinner which has a terrific breafast menu and serves lots of food for the money. BW guests also get the morning coffe free in the hotel lobby and can bring to Margie's or get free coffe at Margie's. It's a real bargain.

« Great Spot In Paso Robles »

Up wine tasting in Paso Robles, booked in for 3 nights. Centrally located, has cafe across from main office. Great hot tub and pool. We loved the breakfast and great omelettes in Maggies cafe. Free coffee and water in room. Reasonably priced and great amenities. Will stay here again.

    « Comfortable and convenient »

We came up to Paso Robles to spend a day or two poking around and to run a half marathon. We were looking for a place to stay that would be inexpensive and yet pleasant. The Black Oak Best Western suited our needs well. It is an old fashioned drive up to the room motel. The room was comfortable and quiet, and the general location was perfect for getting into town and out to the wineries. Would definitely stay again.

« Wine Getaway and Golf »

Fun area for wine tasting, great restaurants and golf. We have been coming to the area for many years. We enjoy checking out familiar wineries and discovering new ones. We usually get in a round of golf. It is convenient to go to Margie's Diner for breakfast. The area downtown has many nice restaurants and shops.

    « Paso Robles experience »

When I got to the lobby to check in, I felt at home right away. Staff was professional and courteous. Lobby was homey and bright with different feel of a motel. Room was nice and big, clean, and was outstanding. Bed was comfortable and property was quiet.

This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in. The room the service and the price were all exceptional. I would recommend this hotel to everyone I know. Kudos to you Best Western for a terrific stay.

    « Pleasant stay »

Good value for an expensive area. Cheerful lobby and staff. Clean rooms. Frig and micro in room. Very comfortable beds. I love having the sink outside the bathroom and being big enough to keep your toiletries on the counter. Lovely grounds. On site restaurant - good, but portions way too big.

    5
    « Wine Tasting »

This was our second time staying there, and both times have been excellent. The rooms are clean, and the staff is always ready to assist you. We enjoyed eating a hearty breakfast at Maggie's before we headed out to taste some of our favorite wines. We will be back next year.

« Black Oak Paso Robles »

Easy check-inn stayed for three nights. Actually quieter than I thought it would be. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. That includes housekeepers and front desk. Rooms are generous in size. The pool was warm and the hot tub hot. What else can you ask for?

    « Amazing property. »

I cannot say enough good things about this motel. Location...easy to find and access. Close to dining. Check In...prompt, friendly and efficient. Room...huge!, very clean, perfect pillows, comfy bed, ample and great quality towels. Bottles of water and a refrigerator in the room. What really impressed me was the old fashioned touches and I mean that with greatest respect and recognition. There were glasses...real glass glasses...sparkling and wrapped up in white paper like a little package for me to unwrap and use. A heat lamp in the ceiling of the bathroom. Local newspaper on the table. I parked right in front of my door and walked right in to the room which was most welcomed after 8 hours of driving. I unwrapped a glass, poured a little sipping whiskey, put my feet up and read the local paper. Soon my road brain and shoulders were eased out of their cramped and pained state. Thank you!!!

« A central location for exploring the wine country »

This is a great location for exploring the Paso Robles wine region. It is located at the intersection of the two major roads in the area. The hotel is walking distance from the Fair Grounds and a perfect location for those that attend the California Mid Sate Fair. You can get your "country on" and walk back to the hotel without the worry of parking and alcohol concerns. The hotel is older but well appointed and comfortable. Everything is up to date. The staff is happy to bring wine glasses to your room so that you can sample some of your "finds" from the local vineyards.

« Beautiful setting with basic needs and walking distance to restaurants »

We booked this hotel in the last minutes and it was a pleasant surprise with the open space layout of the property and the room is definitely exceeds the price for this winery town. We enjoyed our stay, and the staffs were very helpful and attentive.

« An excellent place to stay in Paso Robles »

This place is very well maintained and the staff was very helpful. The family liked the cleanliness of it, as well as the heated pool (used in February), the hot tub, the fitness room and the surrounding of the hotel. There is also a lot of dining option next to the hotel (walking distance). The rooms are spacious, and well equipped (Fridge, microwave, hairdryer, free internet...). It is a reasonable value for the price we paid, but $20 less per night would make it a great spot.

    5
    « Everything Was Perfect! »

I travel 70+ nights a year for work all over California and this is by far the best property I have stayed at. From the moment we checked in the staff was friendly, accommodating and professional. The facility is top notch and clean with everything in working order, even the electrical outlets were in good order, and what I plugged in, stayed plugged in! The room was very large, the bed comfortable and furniture in good repair with a real recliner for watching the large flat panel TV. There was a large dressing area with a sink and toiletries including Q-tips, cotton balls, a sewing kit and even a small bottle of hand sanitizer. In the bathroom was an additional sink and a Jacuzzi tub. The refrigerator and microwave had their own alcove with a counter top and lights, great for making lunch before heading out each day. Will definitely be back next time I'm in the area!

nice hotel very friendly workers, clean rooms and plenty of parking space. very quiet rooms if you want to relax. beds are a little soft but im picky about beds. morning breakfasts is the best comparing to most major hotels and I stay at a lot of hotels.

    « Stayed again Nov 2015 ~ Loved it! »

Always my go-to location for a great night's sleep and a comfortable stay when near Paso Robles. These folks go the extra mile to make you comfortable. I like that they take the time to look back into their system and recognize their frequent customers. They always have the best rate around (though I don't even check around anymore) which you wouldn't expect because their grounds and rooms are so nice. The recently installed e-car charging stations too. Nice location, nice pool, nice lobby, nice folks.

    « Most Accommodating »

Came in late needing a room for 5. Fixed us up. Highly recommend! Making our day & night of driving in rain & fog on #1 a good ending and good nights rest. Clean rooms and nice atmosphere. Gave a coupon for $5 off for breakfast on top of all.

    4
« Not great, but not bad »

air conditioner/heater ran all night, no thermostat, but not overly loud. comfy bed. Everything else was excellent. No breakfast, instead they give you a $5 coupon for the restaurant which is pretty pricey.

    5
« Great place to stay »

I enjoyed the Black Oak Inn, it was a very comfortable and enjoyable experience. It was nice that the hotel provided a $5.00 off coupon for breakfast, but, I do prefer the Best Western Hotels that provide the breakfast as part of the package. Molly's Diner (the on site restaurant) was good, but, for a diner, the food was significantly overpriced

    « Great choice »

This place has spacious, comfortable rooms and is conveniently located off the 101 and a mile from downtown Paso. Bed and pillows were comfy, bathroom was clean and came with a jacuzzi one-person tub in the shower. King room had two bathroom sinks, a microwave, and mini-fridge. It had everything we needed for a short trip to wine country and the price was unbeatable.

    4
    « Wine Tasting Trip »

The hotel was very nice for a 3 star hotel. The mattress was excellent and the bathroom was super clean. The maid cleaned and stocked our room nicely each day. We love coffee and use lots of cream and the maid left us enough of each for each day. The staff was super friendly and helpful!

    « Beautiful room - Excellent service! »

After spending 3 nights camping in the Anza-Borrego Desert we decided on this simple looking '1960's motel' --- WOW what a surprise when we walked into the beautiful room! The only thing was the smoke detector kept beeping every few minutes. I called the front desk and Amanda immediately came by to investigate. After replacing the battery, the detector still continued to beep. Amanda immediately upgraded us to their PLUS PLUS room, complete with a jetted tub and even provided a bottle of Champagne for our enjoyment. Now that's what I call customer service!

    5
    « Fantastic Place »

Not only is it impeccably run, spic-and-span, and close to amenities like a restaurant and a Starbucks. Not only are the rooms super clean, newly outfitted, and tastefully done, BUT it has exterior doors, which is a favorite of mine. It's hard to find motels where you can pull up and park outside your door these days. When I do, they are often run-down. NOT this place. I wish there were clones of this motel all over the place. Just a great stay. Honest.

    5
    « Jewel of a place »

OK, so it's a 1960s motel with external corridors. But nevertheless it is a jewel of a place and one of the best of its type. It is obvious that much has been done to make a stay here as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Staff are friendly and efficient, everywhere is spotlessly clean, rooms are spacious and beds are comfortable. And the place is clearly managed very efficiently. We were initially disappointed that there were no on-site breakfast facilities. But breakfast in the adjacent Marge's Diner (for which the hotel provides discount vouchers) was an unmissable experience and we got a breakfast hugely superior to any inclusive one we had had at other Best Westerns. Highly recommended and would definitely return

    5
« Great hotel in Paso Robles! »

I highly recommend the Best Western Plus in Paso Robles. This was my first stay at this particular hotel, and not my last! The room was so comfortable, with lovely decor and an amazing number of small extras placed around the room. It was super quiet, clean and comfy for a wonderful night's sleep.

    5
    « Paso Robles Comfort »

Alan C, Not a new property but very well kept, with upgrades underway, Staff, particularly front desk was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and very comfortable. Rates were less than comparable motels in the area.

    5
« Best Western in Paso »

Bed was nice and the facilities were good. Had a good size spa and fitness center. Received a free upgrade because of my membership to Best Western rewards. The location of the hotel is convenient as well. My wife and I were able to get to downtown Paso in less than 5 minuets, and when leaving for the beach got onto the 101 in 1 minuet.

    5
« Great Place to Say »

Perfect place to stay when going wine tasting, a very short cab or Uber ride to town, good home style breakfast restaurant adjacent and a really good pizza place within walking distance. Would highly recommend.

    4
    « Great Stay »

We had great stay. Only drawback, if any, is that they don't offer help yourself style breakfast at the hotel. Instead, they offer a discount at the diner on the premise. I usually eat first and then dress up for the day so making myself presentable first before breakfast isn't very convenient for me. The hotel room had a mini-refrigerator, a microwave oven and a coffee maker so I kept the left over dinner from the night before and feasted on it as breakfast (acquiring utensils ? knife, fork, and spoon for this was bit of a challenge). Complimentary coffee, tea and hot chocolate is available in the lobby all the time (however, the coffee was lukewarm one time). The occupants room above must have been wearing lead shoes when they came in; in the beginning they made thud, thud, thud noises that we could trace where they are walking but quieted down soon. We didn't hear any traffic noise and all in all, it was a quiet stay. The Fitness Center was clean and the equipment was in working order. Wi-Fi worked fine but there wasn't a dedicated business center type of room as far as I know; I believe the only printer that the patrons can use is in the lobby. We didn't ask for the housekeeping during our two night/three day stay but toiletry and towels are provided plenty on the first day so I was happy (I use a lot of towels). It met our needs and our stay was comfortable.

    « no problems here...clean & comfortable. »

We stayed 2 nights while exploring wine country. The hotel was just what we needed. a clean comfortable crash pad. The location is fine, about an $8 cab ride from downtown. They gave us a card to call the cab co. called FETCH. They were very nice and very prompt. It was rainy and a bit cold, so we didn't use pool or anything. But the grounds looked nice and safe. The lobby is small, just for check in/out. Coffee in the lobby, not that great, but there if you need it. We received 5$ coupons for breakfast next door. I'm hoping it was an off day, but they managed to DESTROY our breakfast. I'm still pissed I even paid for it! We did not take them up on the 5$ off the next day! The room was fine, the price was right, we'd stay again if we go back.

    « Beautiful Updated Property »

This property is well maintained and beautifully appointed. Every amenity one would expect in a property equal to this property. Two blocks to the freeway, across from the fairgrounds, and centrally located to Paso Robles. Elevator, vending, ice and laundry conveniently located. Nice to also have free wify.

    5
« GREAT FOR ITS PRICE!! »

Great price for the quality of service and room that you get. Will consider Best Western Plus for next stay! Special request for extra towels were granted upon arrival. Nice and friendly staff. Couldn't ask for a better stay for the price!

« Cozy and Comfortable with a Lot of Pride »

Really enjoyed our short stay. The staff is great and went above and beyond to help make my birthday memorable. The location is very convenient. It's a short hop from town, the wineries, and the freeway. While the grounds aren't fancy (we were exploring the area anyway), the room was very nicely appointed, clean and comfortable. I will definitely stay here next time I visit Paso Robles. Oh, and you get a discount next door at Margie's Diner for a great breakfast!

    5
    « Very Comfortable »

We did a quick trip north to see the Monarch Butterflies in Pismo Beach and the Elephant Seals north of San Simeon. We worked our way from the coast doing a little wine tasting and stopped for the night at the Best Western Plus Black Oak. The staff was very friendly and accommodated out request to be upstairs. The room was roomy and clean with updated decor. The bed was comfortable which is always the best information to hear when looking at reviews. The location was fine for the end of the day tasting wine along Hwy. 46 and heading back to San Diego the next morning.

    5
    « Enjoyed our stay »

Best Western Plus Black Oak is a comfortable hotel. It is conviently located to the local wineries and restaurants. The hotel was clean and quiet. The breakfast at the attached diner was very good with more than enough food.

« Outdoor swimming in December »

This is a very clean property with excellent customer service at the front desk. We showed up on a cool evening and my girls wanted to swim. The people at the front desk said no problem and had the pool and spa covers removed. My girls jumped in the heated pool and enjoyed the Christmas lights. The suite was clean and provided enough room for all 6 of us. You get a $5.00 voucher for breakfast at Margie's Diner. A word of advice on this meal...they are huge portions and most people could share a breakfast plate. We would stay here again.

    5
« Consistently friendly, clean and comfortable »

We travel between the SF Bay Area and Southern California fairly frequently and when we can grab an extra day on either side of the trip, we stay at this hotel in Paso Robles. It's reasonable in cost, comfortable and has a great staff. We would not stay anywhere else.

    4
« Black Oak Best Western in Paso »

The discounted rate was a great deal for this popular wine region. The room was a generous size and well appointed. There are several restaurants that have been built in the front of the building. Actually they help shield the building from traffic noise and at least one of then , Rustic Pizza, is just fine.. They include a Starbucks and the 100' walk is perfect. Do NOT use the $5 discount breakfast.

    5
    « better than expected »

The staff was professional, helpful and cheerful. The room was large, clean, quiet and comfortable. The room had a double large bathroom. The hotel offered complimentary fruit and coffee in the lobby. In room had complimentary bottled water, coffee and tea. The hotel offered credit for breakfast and coffee at the restaurant adjacent to the lobby. The staff went out of their way to help in any way they could and offer recommendations in the community.

« Nice place for a moderate price »

Rooms were very clean and had plenty of in-room amenities that most hotels don't. The location of the hotel itself was also very well placed for visits to all local events, wineries, restaurants, etc...

« Best of the Best »

We have stayed here many times and are always pleased. Friendly staff, way above average rooms & amenities. Plenty of things to do in the area. Almost makes me wish I liked wine; the vineyards are amazing. Next door to Bubba's BBQ - very good food and friendly atmosphere.

    « Great stay »

Comfortable rooms, Great staff, close to all. I cant say a bad thing about this place. Easy check in process, as well as check out. Jet tub in room, was most relaxing. I haven't slept this well in awhile.

« Service Over and Above »

Stayed here as a break between Northern California and Disneyland. Planned a little wine tasting. Was wife's birthday so I called the property ahead of time and spoke to Annelyse. I requested a local red wine and some type of birthday note to be placed in our room as a surprise. Annelyse stated she would take care of it. Not only was there wine in the room but a nice setting complete with a very pretty flower. When I checked out the Manager, Angela, heard me talking to Annelyse and came out to check on our stay. I learned this was not a normal service and someone had to go buy the wine. We were only charged the cost of the wine. Good wine by the way! The room was nice, very clean and the bed was so comfortable it felt like mine at home. The other staff were very friendly and seemed to enjoy working there. Hats off to everyone...we will return to this property!

    5
« Inexpensive, clean, and great pool/hot tub. »

Laid back and inexpensive. The best part is the pool and hot tub. Perfect for after a day of wine/beer tasting. Stayed here many times, and never have been disappointed. Nothing overly fancy, but definitely a great value.

« Paseo Robles hotel with nice office staff and great diner »

This is a homey hotel due to the nice front office staff and the fact that they do extras to make you feel welcome, such as coffee, tea and water in the lobby and always decorating for the holidays. There is a great diner next door that serves the largest portions I have ever seen at any restaurant. This hotel is located right off of the 101 Fry in Paseo Robles.

    5
« great front desk staff »

I love the location. Good, inexpensive food nearby, coffee and easy access to the roads I wanted to ride my bicycle on. Upon arriving, I noticed driveway paving about to start. The staff immediately upgraded me to a nicer room away from the construction area. I was at the front desk several times and everyone was exceptional. Very helpful and friendly. This is the first time I have stayed there, and I look forward to staying there and/or the Adelaide Inn again.

    « Family Wine Trip »

Nice accommodations for my husband and I to travel with my elderly mother. Having a separate room for my mother helped with the sleeping arrangements. Could have used an extra bath so she didn't have to disturb us during the night.

« Wonderful Experience in Paso »

My cousin recommended this motel and I was surprised how nice it was and the amenities such as the gym and EV charger. Great staff and well kept property. They were resurfacing part of the parking lot, so slight inconvenience, but will add to the experience of future guests' stays.

« Good Hotel, great Location »

A good hotel in a great location. Nice and clean rooms but a bit outdated. Wireless internet very weak and unstable with mobile devices. Restaurant was ok and with good choices but not great. however, a number of restaurants are just in walking distance. In the morning at 4am some strange noise otherwise a nice stay. Staff was very friendly and I would come again if in the area.

This Best Western is a great place. The rooms are large, beds very comfortable and the little details make is enjoyable. You are provided with excellent coffee, rare in hotels, and bottled water every day. Its location is perfect for dining nearby and visiting wineries.

« Most comfortable bed EVER!!!! »

My husband and I stayed here on a business trip in the area. We were so impressed with the quality of the bed (king suite) that my husband asked the staff what type it was - (Simmons Beauty rest pillow top ). The room was clean and even had a jacuzzi tub, double sinks, recliner and comfortable couch plus a nice desk and office chair! A voucher for breakfast at the adjoining Margies Diner takes $5 off your choice of breakfast. The property is well maintained and staff are very professional. There a many eateries within walking distance to suite most any budget.

« Clean, friendly, pleasant stay »

« Overnight stay was good. »

My brothers and I traveled north to spend the day at Firestone brew so after lunch we checked into the hotel. The staff was friendly and got us in right away. We hung out at the pool for a few and that and the jacuzzi and area were very clean. After dinner and a movie we came back and had a good nights sleep with no outside noise. Shower worked well. Extra towels were easy to get, free coffee in the lobby and coupons to use at the connected margees diner for breakfast if desired. Beds were a bit hard but not bad. Nice and clean looking restaurant through and through. Saw two maintainence workers while their that were working away. Plenty of parking great stay. For a Best Western level hotel.

I've stayed at this hotel several times, and it has always been great. The staff is friendly and makes both check-in and check-out very easy and quick. The rooms are always clean and roomy, and I especially appreciate the in-room refrigerator and microwave, as well as the 2 free water bottles and the candy dish. This is my hotel of choice for business visits in this area.

« why stay anywere else? »

love this place. Clean, friendly and close to everything. Hotel offers breakfast coupon for diner next door. Best pizza and coffee house just steps away. What more could you ask for. Prices are a little high, but everything in Paso is a little expensive. You will get your money's worth. The "BEST" western I have ever stayed at.

    « Black Oak »

This BW Plus has made some very recent improvements but was great to begin with. Their rooms are well furnished, nothing fancy but very practical. The pool area is tucked behind, quiet and away from the roadway. Someone here much enjoy gardening. There are always flowers in bloom. Recent additions include a very nice fitness room. Rooms are clean and front staff are welcoming and helpful. This is place of choice, although rates have increased as well.

    « Can't Wait to Return »

This is our 2nd time staying at the BW Black Oak in Paso Robles. It is such a great town and the remodeled Black Oak is a wonderful place to stay when there. Great quiet rooms, restaurant on site, beautiful grounds. They offer a full complement of bath supplies , even down to hand sanitizer. if you forget yours. They say the dirtiest thing in a hotel room is the TV remote. They sanitize the remote. Good job. We'll be back.

    5
    « Good standard »

We had a ground floor room in this motel and were able to park easily right outside. Check in and out was easy with friendly reception staff. Wifi worked well and there was a nice pool. The hotel is also within walking distance of restaurants. The room we had was large, clean and quiet.

    5
« Cool old Motor Inn »

I can't comment on all the rooms, but our "theme" room (#250) was totally over-the-top,... but actually really cool. Sure it still had that dingy smell when you first walked in, but after that it was all plush and gold taps ! Nice staff, and good deal with the breakfast restaurant next door. Convenient location.

    4
    « Comfortable, a bit noisy »

This is an old style real motel, drive up to the front door of your room. That said, it has been nicely updated, good quality of decoration and furnishing. Little touches like candy and decent coffee maker, real glasses for water, and enough towels (without having to ask for them) put it a cut above the average La Quinta, which is a comparable brand. Parking was readily available during both day and evening. The only down side of being on the ground floor was noisy guests whooping and laughing as they walked past the door - even after midnight. Several restaurants within a short walking distance of the hotel, plus gas stations. I would stay here again.

    5
    « Always a great stay »

This is the 2nd year in a row we have stayed here and once again it's perfect location, price, and accommodations were just right for us. You can count on us for many years to come. We will be booking next years visit shortly!

    5
    « Better than Most BW's »

i've stayed at plenty Best Western's and this place was pretty well kept. It seemed old by the decor, but still a gem. It was quite and bed was super comfy. I would stay here again in a heart beat! Wifi was good and channels were great. I also loved that a starbucks was right outside the gate, and other bar/foods in walking distance

    4
    « Quite expensive, but... »

We paid more than what we normally would-even on Hotwire. With that said, the staff was super friendly. The lobby and grounds are nicely decorated and appointed. There are bbq grills, a nice pool area and about 5-6 places to eat immediately next to the hotel. Easy on and off from the 101 freeway. The rooms were very clean and quiet-even on a sold out night.

    5
    « Cattie Weekend »

I was pleasantly surprised at how big and nice the room was.. It was a Girls weekend and there was plenty of room for all four of us!! We all loved the mattresses and pillows!! We even took off sheets to see what brand they were. Never heard any neighbors...nice thick walls. If u eat at the diner on site, make sure you are really hungry....huge portions!! Staff was very nice!! All in all, it was a great stay and I would definitely stay there again!!

« Taking advantage of travelers misfortune »

The rate was triple because of the misfortune of many travelers. Very sad that Best Western would take advantage this way, just for profit. Because of a main artery to Southern California, many Best Western travelers had no choice but to use this route.

    3
    « OK Place for a night »

Shower was only fair, beds OK and room tight in space. Front desk staff very nice and helpful. Diner at the entrance allows for $5.00 off per person for meals with a voucher from the Best Western. Price per night seems very high for this area.

    3
    « Nice enough »

The rooms were clean and pleasant. The bathrooms were extremely clean, which was a plus! Looks as though they may have recently renovated. Several food options nearby. Maggie's was particularly good and friendly. This was a last minute booking and there were not many rooms available in Paso. I would not likely return: 1. Not my style of accommodations. I prefer a higher end hotel. 2. It was very expensive for being a motel. I would not pay that much again.

    3
    « Good Value »

We stayed one night , passing through on our way to the Grand Canyon. We passed all the vineyards and wish we had planned to stay a bit longer so that we could have visited the winery's all very close by. The Staff at the hotel are lovely. Very efficient , full of smiles, and very helpful. The rooms are pretty basic - although very clean. Really nothing to write home about but suited our needs perfectly. They have a swimming pool that looks very well kept and also very clean. They offer vouchers for money off breakfast in the next door diner, Margies. Definitely worth having breakfast there - but BE VERY HUNGRY! You would not believe the portion sizes! They also give guests free coffee refills. Overall , a very good value for money hotel. I would stay there again if passing through.

    5
    « Nice surprise »

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this hotel. Haven't stayed in a Best Western in a long time. This is a quality hotel. Paso Robles on the weekends is very busy, so you will pay extra for a close in hotel. i was really pleased with the room.

By far the best hotel we've stayed at in the past month that we've been on the road. We were given a complimentary upgrade to a King suite. The hot tub was clean and relaxing. The landscaping was incredible. The staff were incredibly nice and house keeping didn't bother us in the morning. Definitely a great place to stay if you're traveling.

I reserved a disabled room. The room was in the far corner of the hotel. The ice machines were very inconvenient. Two were on the top level using the stairs the other at the other end of the hotel. This is very inconvient for a disabled person. They offered coupons for the restaurant (food very good) but failed to tell us they were only good until 10 a.m. I did not think the front office workers were very helpful. Rooms are clean. I would not stay at this hotel again.

We have stayed at many Best Westerns and this one is by far the nicest. The room was very nice. It was spotless and supplied with everything you could need. The bed was so comfortable we didn't want to get up. The staff was very nice and helpful. I spoke to Donna in housekeeping when we arrived and also again when we were leaving. It was a joy to see her so happy and friendly as she worked. We will defiantly stay at this Best Western again. clean cle

« Extremely clean hotel & friendly staff! »

The first thing I noticed upon entering the property was how clean and immaculate the whole place was! From fresh paint to properly trimmed and maintained plants/flowers/shrubs/trees. The stairs were even cleaned while I was there as a guest! I have never encountered a friendlier staff that time I was there then at this hotel!!!! It made the whole stay worthwhile!

« Treated like a Person of Intrest.... »

The front desk went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. The rooms were above average. The breakfast, we didn't have, but you have to go to their on site restaurant, which requires you to pay. Site was very good, secure and sound. Would recommend this place to anyone. Local walk to places to eat, must try Rustic Fire, great pizza and practically anything you want to quench your thirst. Overall, I would recommend Best Western Plus Black Oak.

    « clean and comfortable »

The hotel is very clean and the bed is so comfortable. There's free wifi, a pool, a jacuzzi, and a fitness center. The hotel is only a mile away from downtown where there's a lot of cute restaurants and shops. I will definitely come back to this hotel when I return to the area.
