Best Western Plus Hotel Farnese, Parme

Wow, I did not expect to find some of the best food I ate in Italy to be in a Best Western Hotel. We chose this family owned hotel because it had parking and it far exceeded expectations with its super comfortable bed and lovely foyer. The reception staff were just great and the bar/waiters even better. The waiter was very passionate about food and wine suggestions and I certainly was not disappointed.....the food was amazing and reasonably priced, even though the restaurant lacks much ambiance. The restroom off the lobby was the prettiest I've ever seen! The weather was pretty awful when we were there (apparently 2019 has been its worst Spring since 1957) but the food was so good we had no hesitations in dining in-house both nights.

1st Class service and attentiveness from start to finish. Wonderful cuisine. Good wine slection, with helpful wait staff.Great place to stay if you don't have to be in downtown Parma. Sr. Marco holds "court" every night in the lounge. A highlight of the stay.

I recently spent 2 nights here while in town on vacation and was pleasantly surprised! The hotel was renovation recently so it is very modern, clean and comfortable. The staff went above and beyond to help whenever we asked for something. I even left my glove in a taxi and they called and got the driver to drop the glove off at the hotel and placed it securely in my room. There really isn't much around the hotel so you'll have to go to the city center which is about a 20 minute walk. During the daylight this seems safe but at night I would suggest a taxi.

The hotel is a bit far from the city center, although it's walking distance. Modern and well equipped with a spacious room, which was impeccably clean. Overall comfortable but with an under par breakfast.

We came for two nights over the weekend on our trip to the Adriatic Sea. Our room 205 had a balcony which was great for our small dog. All service personnel was very friendly and helpful. A small pool and larger breakfast selection made our stay comfortable. Plenty and free parking available in front and around the hotel. Is this a helpful review? My two friends and I stayed together in the Best Western Plus Hotel Farnese and we found the room comfortable and clean. The breakfast was full of a variety of different offerings, and each of us had different options and enjoyed them. The hotel was not as close to the city as I would have liked, but all in all, I would recommend the hotel to others looking for a clean and comfortable stay.

Have visited this hotel three previous times and can't wait to get back. Great atmosphere pool bar and restaurant.Quick cab ride to city central and great staff. Have just booked five rooms for a famliy trip in August. Can taste the procuitto , parmigianno ad spritz already.

We stayed at the hotel for a week together with some friends. Check-in was smooth and we got a room with a carpet that just had been cleened. Unfortunately it got a really bad smell probably because of some cleening devise that had been used. Hotel staff got us another room wich were OK and we really thought it was great. Poolarea great, but opened late in the morning. Poolbar staff fantastic, room cleening great and front desk always with a smile. Breakfast really good even if crowded some mornings. Dinner OK at the hotel even if waiter Marco was a bit to much, trying to give us more expensive wine than we had ordered. So called boss at the restuarant Antonio really a disaster, showing us that he as an italian never is wrong whatever the issue was. Sorry to say because of him we will not return and will not recommend this hotel to our friends. Hotel better change restuarant manager or if possible try to explain the word polite and customer to him!!!

On my personal scale Hotel Best Western Farnese in Parma gets an OK minus. Not bad, but the combination of positive and negative factors is not more than OK-. The hotel has been renovated, probably quite recently. However, at least our room, was not fresh. It was clean, no problem there, but you had to keep the balcony door open to get fresh air. Was it the carpet or AC, I don't know, but a hotel room should not smell like that. Location is so and so, a bit far from downtown by foot.

This BW-hotel is a perfect choise for a quick stop on the way from one place to an other: easy to find and drive in, plesant distance from the city center of Parma, good breakfast, nice pool to a quick swim... Our room was big enough for three persons, it was big enough and all the facilities were ok. Good choice in this price gategory.

Seems this hotel thinks it's ok for people to smoke cigars in the swimming pool. I think that's absolutely disgusting. 43 degree heat and can't enjoy a swim in the tiny pool. Children and other guests should not be exposed to second hand smoke and strong smell. Designated areas would go a long way to not ruin someone else's experience. The smell of cigarettes also comes through the air conditioner as they have smoking rooms. The sheets, pillows and curtains all stink like smoke. Even the towels, so your skin smells. Everything in my suitcase, all my clothes, my makeup brushes absolutely stinks. I'm actually an ex smoker, I'm not anti but it has ruined my experience at this hotel. I will have to spend a fortune on washing at my next destination to get everything out of my clothes. The staff are very friendly and helpful and breakfast buffet is delicious but what is the point when your are in a cloud of other people's bad habits. Do yourself a healthy favour and don't book here.

We stopped here for a night on the way to Ancona we were worn out after driving through Switzerland in a storm! - it was a short but really lovely stay, the hotel is easy to find, has ample parking, really welcoming staff and lovely clean rooms. It was a bit windy when we arrived to swim although the pool looked really inviting. Food in the restaurant was good as was breakfast. Most of all again the friendliness of the staff!

If in Parma, it is a good choice of hotel. It is around one km from the train station and a coupe from the city centre. quaint rooms and good service. The have a bar, an italian restaurant and breakfast diner in the hotel.

Ideally located, the hotel provides excellent accommodation and service. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. The food is limited in choice, but very good in terms of taste and value. The wine gives real value for money

We recently stayed here as the first night of our vacation. The room was comfortable with a well-appointed bathroom. The staff was professional and friendly. The on-site parking is included in the cost of the room, which was fair for the accommodations. Being located near the Autostrada was a plus, but the area was more than a little unsavory and not close to any of the Parma attractions. It was about a ten minute drive to the centro. I would not recommend the hotel for families because of the location, but it would be a good pick for business or budget-conscious travelers.

Hotel is just 5 mins away by car from the city centre, perfect if you are travelling in the region. Comfortable beds, large rooms including bathroom, great breakfast selection including a large choice for the health conscious.

Great hotel for one night while passing through - breakfast was very nice and a great price as were the hotel rooms. Would definitely recommend to give this hotel a try. The staff were able to help us in English which was also definietly to our advantage.

I had an awesum stay at this hotel. Good food and excellent waiters at the dinner service. The breakfast was "complete" but lack some varity when it comes to e.g. hot foods, vegetables and yoghurts. You will not find pancakes or fancy cheeses here. The room was clean, big and had everything I needed. Wifi is included and working fine. Newspapers are available in the lobby and you also find a bar there (coffe is some kind of specialty). The hotel is not located in the city centre (20 min walk).

Spent a couple of nights whilst in Parma on business. The staff were very friendly and helpful , convenient for the town centre. The rooms were good sized ,comfortable and clean., breakfast very much in the continental style and good

Only a couple of things stopped me from giving an overall better score. Some of the sockets in the room did not appear to work for charging phones and tablets. Also, after discussing with the lounge bar man about having a glass of red wine, it failed to turn up. But the pasta and my wife's salad were very good. We had a strange outside balcony (?) which had 1 deck chair on artificial grass, bizarre. One more minor gripe, NO MILK for a hot drink. Best western please sort this out in most of your hotels, it's just not that difficult.

We come every year for the parma fiera and stay here with our friends. This year we found the two men at reception quite unfriendly. Breakfast was ok. Room was ok. Nothing very special but reasonably priced.

We stayed in 2 double-bed rooms for 1 night on our way southwards. One of the rooms smelled very strange, so we asked for a replacement, which we happily got. The rooms are OK for getting a night's sleep, but I would not want to spend a vacation here. The hotel is fairly close to a large railway track area. The windows are not noise-proof, so I could hear the trains in the morning. The breakfast was above average compared to some other Italian hotels, though.

Every now and then, one comes across a hotel that provides such poor quality food or service, it becomes laughable and more of a comedic "Faulty Towers" experience than anything else. The Best Western Hotel in Parma is just such a place. If you need a good laugh and really want to see how some establishments try to rip off tourists with pathetic excuses for Italian food...this is the place for you. From charging a whopping EUR 25 for a single mojito to serving still-frozen pizza in the dining room, this place is a real whopper of a scam. Our rather horrific dinner was capped off by the "gelato" that was served to the kids as part of the infant menu....which came in a plastic wrapped treasure chest....I don't think any part of this ice cream was even partly made in Italy. It left us in hysterics..... While the staff were great (including the waiter and the front desk), the fact that they can intentionally serve such poor quality food and high priced drinks tends to suggest that scamming tourists is simply part of their business model. Shape up Best Western.

Tired and worn. Badly furnished rooms with bedside lamps totally inadequate for reading, poor bathrooms (the shower is only divided by a flimsy curtain), half closed-up balconies. Average breakfast with watery "fruit" juice and a poor bread selection. Mixed friendliness of staff. All in all, not worth the price. On the other hand, why visit Parma at all? You can get their ham and cheese elsewhere, too...

We stayed here for ten days recently while visiting family in Parma and would recommend this hotel. It is on the outskirts of Parma within easy reach of the ring road around Parma. The historic centre, restaurants and shopping are a short bus or taxi journey. The rooms are comfortable, clean and efficiently and unobtrusively air conditioned. Breakfast is excellent with a wide variety of food on offer. My granddaughter visited us almost daily and loved the pool. It is not large but perfect for cooling off and for an energetic seven year old! The staff of this hotel are five star. Every single staff member says hello and smiles. Nothing was too much trouble. We will certainly return.

This is a nice hotel with nice rooms, friendly staff and a pleasant pool area. However, it's about 20-30 minutes' walk from the centre of Parma, and there are no shops, cafes, restaurants etc around the hotel. As long as you're prepared for that, the hotel is fine. Very helpful staff.

Stayed here for 4 nights. Really enjoyed the hotel - staff are helpful and very friendly. It is about a 20 minute walk from the centre of Parma. Breakfast buffet was fine - especially if you need to grab it in a hurry and go to work. Swimming pool is lovely however not enough sun loungers so its not always possible to get a place to lie out. Taxis are easily obtained, 5-10 minute wait. Closely located to the Parma Train station too. Didn't have dinner here as we preferred to try the restaurents in town but the menu/price looked reasonable. There is an onsite gym - not much weights equipment, but its opening hours could be extended maybe from 6am. (Currently 7am to 11pm) Hotel room was very nice - beds are comfortable and room is clean/cleaned every day. Can't fault this hotel had no issues staying here - most likely would stay here again if I returned.

From the time you walk through the door you feel welcome. Marco, Antonio and Nico make you feel at ease in the restaurant and bar with plenty of advice on food and wine. The general atmosphere is congenial with all the staff showing a good sense of fun. The only downside is a railway line on one side of the hotel which might be a bit noisy at night with a window open.

Asked for a quiet room (which wasn't ready even though I was late checking in) and settled into the third room they gave me (the second was right above the small pool and noisy) for a night's sleep after a very long drive. Unfortunately, I was kept awake until after midnight by loud voices screaming and shouting and a dog barking from a neighbouring property, or properties - it sounded like a group of 20 or 30 people. When I asked reception they said their was nothing they could do, and that rooms on the other side had trains going past all night! So not a restful night. Room was fine, and breakfast good, special note to the two young waiters who were efficient and polite.

Rooms are clean, modern and ok for one night. The balcony is not really much worth since te wall is so high, you only can see the sky. Swimming pool is very small (8*4m i guess) with aprox 8 beds and 4 parasols and a bar, which serves by the way nice cool beer. Nice for a dip, but getting to crowded in the afternoon. Staff is very nice, free swimming towels, free bicycles to go down town(10 min), fast wifi(but complicated to get acces, but the staff is very helpfull. Good option on your way to the south and enjoy the Parma food and drinks downtown.

We had excellent stay - only wish we'd found it earlier. Stayed at 6 hotels in Italy on this trip. Hotel Bonnano in Pisa was very good but the pool at this Best Western made this one the winner! Staff at reception very welcoming and chatted with us in English. Marco in the restaurant was also very nice and took time to chat about the menu. Breakfast was amazing - see earlier comments. Absolutely everything you could want for continental breakfast. Staff also came to enquire if you would like any other type of coffee that wasn't available already. Coffee was BRILLIANT. Try the cappuccino. We wanted to use the pool before leaving but didn't want wet towels in luggage and guy at reception was happy to give us towels to use poolside. Great hotel. What a difference it makes when staff are welcoming and friendly - not to be underestimated! Great bed. A/C worked well. Only one English speaking channel on TV but Wifi connection worked well so didn't really need tv. We had a room with balcony but didn't really have time to enjoy it. Bathroom lovely with lots of toiletries. Feel bad that there are some negative reviews for this place as we had a very positive experience. If lucky enough to return to Parma any time soon we'll definitely return to Best Western Farnese. Thank you.

The hotel is so nice, it offers free parking for the guests, free wi-fi, the lobby bar and the reception are so beautifully designed. Breakfast is THE BEST, variety of foods, fruit etc. Rooms comfortable, but the pillows are a bit hard to sleep on. The town center is probably a 15 minute-walk from the hotel. The staff is very helpfull, very kind, they speak english among other languages. I would recommend this hotel for everyone.

We just returned from a family trip from Parma and stayed at this hotel. The hotel was clean, and had been recently renovated. Breakfast was nice and it's about 20 min walk to the town or 10 euros in the taxi. The only disappointing thing was it's one of the few hotels in Parma that have a swimming pool. We booked it because we wanted to use the pool but we were told the pool only opens from June so it was really disappointing on that front . Overall good hotel would recommend.

Checked in with a group of 29. Our room on first floor very dusty most probably from carpets. In the room very uncomfortable design of shower no room for cosmetic bag by the sink. Shwoer doors not watertight al the floor wet. Safe faulty. Door handle to veranda broken. Burnt out bulb in toilet. Al fixed later on. Dineing room very small. All in all nothing to return to.7

We really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were comfortable and the highlight was the amazing breakfast buffet. While most buffets we had on our 8 day trip were merely average, this one was outstanding. They make their own baked goods on site which you can smell as you approach the buffet. Really, really tasty food which makes for an excellent start to the day!!

We drove a little from Milano for a trip to the Tuscan Region. Its right off the highway, although off it just enough for it to be a little hard to find. We asked directions at the local Agip gas station & bar where i had to dust off my rusty Italian pretty fast. The room was very nice and had a little balcony that overlooked the town to the west. We chose to eat in the hotel restaurant after a quick walk though town didn't reveal any 'must eat here' choices. Very glad we did ! We had Parma Ham & Parma cheese (24 mo) fresh Mushroom risotto and Tagtele were "Molto Bene". A warm and friendly wait staff made our first meal in italy ( this was our fourth trip) delightful. Breakfast (included) was a case of too many choices, all good.

Easy parking, easy access, full services, well trained staff. We were particularly impressed by the professionalism of Mirco at the front desk. We decided to dine in and were treated like royalty by Marco in the dining room, including some superb parmeggiano reggiano and balsamic. Will use this best western again either on a road trip or business

Pros: free parking, nice continental breakfast, restaurant staff were very polite, approx 25 min walk into Parma, clean hotel. Cons: room was boiling hot (top floor) and the hotel does not offer air con or a fan to hire, swimming pool was out of action, front desk reception staff weren't particularly welcoming, ladies of the night working on the street the hotel is situated, dinner could have a been bigger...smallest portion of spaghetti I've ever seen.

Cleaning smells caused us to leave, we checked 3 rooms they were all the same. Even with the door to the balcony open the smell caused my eyes to water, we checked three other rooms they were the same, all with a harsh cleaning solution smell. The hotels location is not the best for a visit to Parma, not a good walking location. The lobby was clean and presentable, the staff pleasant. The price reasonable.

This hotel is near the Malpensa airport in Milan and caters to the one-night before flight crowd. Don't expect much more than a small room with a bed, very small bathroom and a breakfast. They have a bar with snacks and some sandwiches and a breakfast room that starts at 0430 in the morning and a shuttle to the airport - all you need for the last night, right. The dining room was very unexpected and a welcome surprise. We all had the Osso Buco and it was terrific! wine list was small but adequate. Price for the meal and for the room was right (about 85 Euros as I recall for the room.)

We stayed here for one night on a trip to Italy. The staff is very nice, which is great after a long drive. Cooling down in the swimming pool is also positive. You can eat in the hotel, but the center of Parma is only a 20 minute walk. Buy a pizza, some soda and picknick in front of the Palazzo. The rooms a great, the beds and bathroom comfortable, so we were all freshed up the next morning to continue our journey.

Nice hotel with good staff and a great breakfast. Lots of choice and plenty to eat. A bit off the beaten track but quiet as a result. Room a bit worm and air con not the best. Pool small but enough for our needs

Close to the "Autostrada" (approx 5 km), very clean, new, large room, good breakfast (with a BIO corner!!!) and not expensive at all. Very friendly people at the front desk! Even the small outdoor area looks nice (pool and some tables). All in all a good choice.

we stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. As we had rental car and planned to enjoy adjacent landmarks the hotel was chosen based on price and availability of the room for 4 adults. Check-in was handled expediently and we were issued the key from "family room" on 2nd floor. We tried to use the internet but as it was not working, I went to the reception to only find out they actually didn't check us in, and could I please bring all passports again so they will check us in "properly" - never had such experience before. "Family" room consisted of king bed and bunk bed for 2 children - we survived but this cannot really be recommended for 4 adults, so beware. Bathroom facilities were adequate, air conditioning performance was disappointing - room was hot even when it run consistently on highest setting. Although room was advertised as "non-smoking" there was an ashtray full of cigar butts at the balcony (it was removed on second day). Breakfast was average - coffee was only instant variety from the machine. Location is in the middle of nowhere quite far from the centre of Parma.
