BEWARE!! Website will ask how many adults & children, but does not ask childrens age. Upon check in they will charge you an additional $25.00 per child, per night if your child is 13 or older!! (maybe 12 & over?) I thought booking directly would save me money, WRONG!! At least with Priceline I've never had a surprise bill. Then I was treated as if I was trying to be deceitful. The website should be upfront about this, but it is not. Best Western Executive Inn 3991 County Rd 172 Mount Gilead, Ohio shame on you for not being transparent with your pricing!
These folks always go out of their way to make sure our stay is enjoyable. Breakfast's were great, and the staff was cheerful and helpful. Located right where I needed to be. Will be back to stay again!
Was very relieved to find a place to stay that was pet friendly during a snow storm. Checked many other places and either no vacancy or not pet friendly. Best Western was both a great place to stay and pet friendly.
I like to say how wonderful the staff was at this location me and my family ran into a winter storm and this hotel was wonderful with setting us up in room they were aswsome and understand our situation that we were in the hotel itself was very clean the rooms spotless we enjoyed ourselves and would definitely recommend any to come here
I spend months in hotels every year. This hotel has to be the cleanest all around hotel of them all. Carpets, bathrooms, sheets changed regularly. The kitchen area is also spotless. Have to give this hotel a 6 star.
The place was okay but once we got there were charged an additional $25 per child. The hidden charges and non refundable rate was really a trap. I wouldn't stay here again. If they were honest and upfront I would have stayed again.
We just spent 4 nights at Best Western Executive Inn,Mt Gilead, Oh. We had a terrific stay there. The staff was very professional and very helpful to us. The room was very clean and we found it very comfortable. Overall very clean and well maintained inside and outside. While there I saw a painter working on the lobby. The breakfast room was also very clean and well stocked with hot and cold breakfast items. Very quiet and peaceful!!! Will stay there next time I'm back in the area. A big thanks to the manager for doing a great job!
Our family has just spent two nights at the Best Western Executive Inn, Mt. Gilead, and we had a wonderful experience there. The staff with whom we interacted at our check-in and during our stay were very polite, professional and gracious. Our room was very clean and very comfortable. We appreciated having a refrigerator and a coffee machine. In spite of the fact that we stayed there on a Friday and Saturday, the hallways were quiet. Carpeting, paint and trim in the hallways and in our room looked fresh. The breakfast room offered both hot and cold options. You could make waffles. On Saturday there were several hot breakfast foods, and on Sunday, there were warm breakfast sandwiches. This space was also very clean and tidy. Outside of breakfast hours, we were able to use this space to meet with other family members for conversation.
Worst hotel experience I have ever had. Management was very rude and treated us like we were a burden and not customers. Their absurd policies lead to many confrontations with management to which they talked down on me. Worst hotel, never staying at this place ever in my life. I'm contemplating never staying at any best western ever again.
This was the best of the 4 B/W hotels I stayed in on my recent road trip. CLEAN, well-maintained, no musty smell, comfortable bed, better pillows and linens than others, a better breakfast selection, and a reasonable rate. The pool looked inviting, but I didn't go in. It's very quiet because it is less busy, is not surrounded by other hotels, and is not close to the freeway. I highly recommend it.
Quiet, restful, simply wonderful stay. Hotel is clean, breakfast was good, coffee delish!! What more can you ask for? Okay! The staff was VERY nice and helpful! This place gets a 10 out of 10 from me!!
Take your Gold with you if you want to stay a night here! Extremely hi prices! Even after the discounts were applied! DON'T STAY HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE GOLD! I have stayed here off and on for 10 years in my travels, but a $ 300 room for ONE night at this motel will make sure I WILL NEVER NEVER stay again!
Rooms were very clean and quiet. Staff was friendly and the free breakfast was great. There were a few fast food places nearby and it was right off the interstate. Only downside was the pool was closed but that may be because of the imminent weather.
Our experience at this hotel was great very clean staff very friendly easy to get to reasonable priced the bed was comfortable we will definitely be staying there on our next visit And id definitely refer this place to others
Do not stay here!!!! I tried checking in early (at noon) to change clothing and get to a wedding. They wanted $25 to check in early. I called Best Western and Expedia to complain, and the owner was livid when she found out. I arrived back at 3 to check in and was called a knit picker, told that I could stay elsewhere but there would be no refund, and would be charged $1500 if I did any damage to the room if I decided to stay. I am a professional and was totally taken aback by this attack! Their website says they are handicap accessible, but there are NO ELEVATORS. For retaliation, I am certain, I was given a room on the second floor. (I'm 69 years old and partially handicapped). I have traveled every week during my 30-year career and have never paid an early check in, nor have I experienced such horrendous treatment from a hotel owner. Stay clear of this place!!!!!!
Cleanest place I've seen in quite some time. Room and common areas immaculate. Friendly and professional staff. Good hot breakfast. No elevator if you can't do stairs get a 1st floor room. We will stay here again.
We chose the Best Western because of past good experiences and the close proximity to I-71. We checked in at approx. 10pm on Friday, Jan. 6th. The staff member working the desk was very nice, polite and informative. The next morning, I was a bit late for breakfast and the staff member went our of her way to make sure I had plenty. She was very gracious on allowing me to enjoy the breakfast bar quickly before she closed it down for the day. Room was clean, bed was comfortable and the shower had wonderful water pressure!
Great clean place to stay. Great price. Friendly staff. Great continental breakfast. Wide variety. Close to several restaurants and gas station. Bakery right next door. Very quiet and very nice place to stay.
By far the worst hotel in the entire world! Do NOT even think about staying here, the front desk and manager/owners are so rude and disrespectful it was shocking. Read other reviews on any site and you will see why you need to stay away!
Hey, so I saw the owner (allegedly) respond to my recent review. Are you serious? Hotel policies? So if I have two rooms with two queen beds and have 5 people staying within those two rooms that's against “hotel policy”? This location is a joke. I've ne we had such bad customer service in MY LIFE. They asked for our names for every single person in our party. They called the police saying we were “bulling” her. Saying my mother was being “rude”.Welcome to America LOL. BBB will be hearing about this experience along with corprate. ALSO, within 10 minutes of being there and this entire interaction happening we wanted to leave and she wouldn't even offer a refund. The reason she wouldn't offer this refund was because my mother was “bullying” her. PLEASE. If you're reading this, dont stay here. READ THE OTHER NEGATIVE REVIEWS. You've been warned.
If I could leave zero stars I would. Myself and my family purchased two rooms, for 5 people. The weird lady running the place shows up at our rooms before we even walk in and starts questioning who is staying and saying there is going to be an extra charge for 5 people staying In two double bed rooms. She also asked for us to write down the names of the people who will be there with us. An invasion of privacy. When we refused she called the sheriff. Do not stay here, these people are absolutely unprofessional and definitely have issues. We asked to leave and to be refunded and they refused to refund our money 15 minutes after arriving. Disgusting place, with horrible management. Much better places down the road. Also, this seems like an ongoing problem according to the other reviews.
Service and staff is terrible especially the manager aarti will not try to help you and is extremely disrespectful and a very rude angry person. No lobby and rooms are not the cleanest Go somewhere else this place is not good at all.
We were greeted by the most surly unhelpful woman at the desk. This resulted in our being charged for 2 nights instead of the one night we stayed and being overcharged for the room which was quoted at a lower rate.
Very nice and quaint hotel in the middle of nowhere, but that makes it special. Nice staff go out of there way to make you feel important. The hotel and rooms were very clean. It is the only accommodations there with the exceptions of some fast food restaurants. If you don't mind a little drive .t Gilead has several small Ocala restaurants that should be perfect.
Needed a room between Columbus and Cleveland after working an Ohio State football game. This hotel fits the bill and was right off the highway. I was able to check in a little early, then didn't get back to the hotel until a little after 1 AM. The desk clerks did a good job, the room was clean and bed was comfortable. I am not a breakfast person but there were several things to choose from. I will stay here again and have already booked a room again for this coming weekend
The hotel is in a safe, quiet area. Very clean and the rooms are lovely. Unfortunately, the only dining options are fast food and Door Dash has nothing in that area. There is a convenience store close by with microwaveable food items though.
The employees were very nice and helpful. The rooms were good other than smelling like cigarette smoke. (I understand that it's hard to get smoke out but it shouldn't smell like that.) The price for one of our rooms was VERY expensive and the rooms were similar.
If I could give this place 1 star I would. If you are looking for a place with friendly service, affordable prices, and a decent visit, please go elsewhere because you won't get that at this place. I was really thrilled about choosing this place because they were very friendly, understanding, and they let me bring my pup. However things quickly changed when they kept saying the price is changing and it kept going up. It went from $25, to $149, to $190 and finally and grand total of $340 that I paid in cash. It was recommended that we do cash so no funds where being held from my account. (Now I know why. It makes it easier for them to double charge.) I quickly agreed to that, wanted to be CASH ONLY. And they said that was fine but still needed my card on file incase I didn't bring cash or their was damages. But I was told several times my card would not be charged. After waking up, I realized my bank account had been charged an additional $190, and I ended up paying $530 dollars for the night. When I confronted the front desk about it, they refused to reimburse the additional payment and said “well I don't have your card number so how could I charge you” asked to see my account for proof. I declined so I wouldn't be scammed yet again by them by showing my personal bank info. I did get a receipt for the cash payment. I took that to my bank and they refunded my money for me. I also took pictures of my room as evidence we didn't leave any damages. This place was not worth the hassle. I would much rather have dealt with my house and no power. Please don't be a victim to this place. I promise, you will regret it.
This motel is great. My wife and I really enjoyed our 5 nights there!! The staff is great, awesome free breakfast, clean, modern, and like new rooms. They are pet friendly also!! Nothing but great things to say about this super motel!!! Would recommend this to all my friends and family. Perfect location, right off I-71. Check out 8 sisters bakery right down the road.
My daughters and I enjoyed our stay. Clean beds and rooms. Self- serve breakfast nice, good choices. It was a pleasant nostalgic trip home for me and we would stay at this Best Western again without hesitation.
We booked 16 rooms for two basketball teams (players and parents). The staff (especially Artie) was great. They went the extra mile. Everything was very clean, they checked with us to make sure everyone had eaten before closing breakfast, and overall made our stay enjoyable.
The staff is very accomodating. They take pride in the hotel and it shows with the ammenities and the cleanliness. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and wifi is reliable. Good breakfast and plenty of parking.
We stayed at the Best Western in Mount Gilead, Ohio for a three day basketball tournament in Mount Vernon, Ohio. Our team booked about 20 rooms. We were given an excellent rate and upon arrival everyone was very happy with the cleanliness of the hotel and our rooms. The staff went above and beyond to make us all comfortable for our stay. A complimentary breakfast was included and was very nice. Our players were allowed to spread out through the lobby and breakfast room to work on school work and to have place to hang out between games. Our rooms were regularly cleaned and fresh towels provided every day. We also were given a late check out to accommodate our travel needs. We were very happy and extremely comfortable with our stay! Thank you everyone at Best Western of Mount Gilead!
This hotel was noticeable clean and well cared for, noticeable upon entering the lobby. The service and employees were helpful, kind and professional. Our room was in great condition as was the rest of the hotel including the dining area. Also, they have single K-cup coffee makers in the rooms instead of those tiny, cheap pots most hotels still use.
We had a great stay here on a long trip home after the holidays. This hotel was quiet and clean and we will stay there again on subsequent trips. The staff was friendly and helpful. The Keurig machine in the room is a nice touch. There is also plenty of easy parking.
Excellent location with good parking availability, clean and modern rooms with updated fixtures. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Comfortable beds with lots of pillows. The self serve breakfast was very good and no additional charge. Climate control was easy to adjust for a perfect sleep. Great shower with lots of big towels. The TV worked perfectly!
Great stop for the I70 cross country route. Amazing and clean room. Tub was a bit squeaky and Microwave and fridge were blowing the circuit on the multi outlet adapter and I had to keep switching it back on and once I turned the fridge off temporarily it was fine. But all in all a PERFECT and safe location. No questionable zombies hanging around. I like this aspect the best cause I am usually a later evening arrival. I will be coming back in the future for sure.
Stayed here a few years ago. Took a chance that nothing had changed. It has not Great customer service and a nice quiet place to stay. Very clean and up to date hotel. close to fast food, gas and easy access to roads.
We just needed a place overnight while we were traveling. We have stayed at Best Westerns many times while traveling. We have always been pleased. We did not feel that this particular hotel was up to par with the quality of Best Western that we have had at other stays. We were quite disappointed. Breakfast was not good at all. Limited options due to COVID (understandable), but the options didn't even taste good. My family said that the yogurt was gritty, the juice was pretty much water. We left even more disappointed.
I am a seasoned business traveler and unfamiliar with this part of Ohio. I work in healthcare and my usual hotel near the hospital I was working at for a few days was sold out. I found this Best Western online and was pleasantly surprised at how clean, nicely furnished, and quiet this hotel is. My room was immaculate, the bed linens were very clean and appeared pressed. There is a Keurig in the room, breakfast was organized, and had a good variety of food.
bed had a sand like granules in the lower portion of the bed. Swept it away with my hand since we returned to hotel after midnight and it was too late to change rooms. Hotel was full. Left my pillow (which they found in room) and told them my nephew would come pick it up the next day. Manager was angry and chastised my nephew when he said he was there for one pillow. She must have realized she gave it to someone else ( who ironically left three pillows with one having a similar color pillowcase) because when she handed him three pillows and he told her I had only left one, she began lecturing him on not being responsible for what I had left at her hotel. She must have realized she gave my pillow to the wrong person. Instead of admitting her mistake, she began yelling at my nephew. There is no other reason she would have gotten upset when my nephew said he was there for one pillow. Her lack of responsibility would make me question whether I would stay there again. Find another hotel that is at least honest with their customers. If she admitted the mistake and offered to pay for the mix up, I would have declined the offer and chalked it up.
Staff was so nice, rooms were clean, had a great stay. This Best Western is hidden gem. We haven't stayed at a Best Western in a long time. We were so impressed with everything…quality breakfast too. The convenience was much appreciated.
Very courteous staff, well maintained room, and free breakfast. Couldn't ask for more as a layover driving from Syracuse to St.Louis. I felt attended to when I wanted to be, and left to relax when I wanted as well. Overall, if what you want is a hotel that has the fundamentals to a mirror shine, this is your stop.
We could not find a hotel anywhere - All of Ohio was filled up! Amazingly, within 1/2 mile of this exit, this hotel had one opening as we were coming up on the exit - it's a God thing! We were exhausted and it looked like we would be spending the night in our vehicle. But this was a welcome miracle! The room available was a jacuzzi suite, which we did not need or want, but the front desk reduced the price and we had a room and breakfast. The room was comfortable, 1 minute off I-71 and we can highly recommend this facility. I don't know about all Best Westerns, but this one is a goodie!
No elevators (if there was, it didn't work) and the pool was closed. Breakfast did not have much for options. Rooms did not feel clean and got bit by something a couple times in room. I've stayed at nicer hotels for much less.
my family is from MT Gilead. we have always stayed at this motel since they built one there. its in a covenant place and it has always been CLEAN and friendly. not so in some other best westerns. My family and I WILL always choose to stay at this location.
Spent a night here on our way to Kentucky. From top to bottom, great experience. Called ahead to make sure they would accept a coupon I found in an Ohio rest stop. Darla who answered the phone was professional and courteous. Once we arrived we were met with the same professionalism. Our room was spotless and the bed was comfortable. Great job Best Western!
My husband & I were in a difficult situation, the staff & owners helped in anyway they could to help us get home safely with no truck we were stranded 500 miles from home . Their concern and helpfulness was great
Wonderful stay. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. We had a wonderful mini get away and will return if we are ever in the area again. The rooms were nice and we didn't really hear any of the other guests in the hotel. Really enjoyed our stay and had a wonderful time.
While my room was clean and comfortable the overall appearance of the hotel is sketchy. When I drove up I wasn't sure I wanted to stay. There is a sign on the door saying no public bathrooms. (that was my welcome as I walked in the door.) The front lobby was not inviting and I had to pay for a bottle of water. I am used to that being included. Especially for the price I paid for the room.
I've usually had great experiences with Best Western Hotels. This was not one of them. I was told that due to "The Covid" no one would enter my room during my stay - including bed lined changes. Funny thing is someone entered my room every day of my 3 night stay, emptied my trash, provided fresh bath towels and turned off the air conditioning... but never changed my bed linen!
Hotel was empty but i wasn't allowed to check-in early or even store my luggsge. Rudely expressed reason was Covid. BS. I had the same experience there 3 yesrs ago with same BS. Also. I was Told I couldn't use the restroom due to Covid. Worst customer service I've ever experienced.
We stayed in a 2 queen bed room. It was roomy and comfortable. It was equipped with a refrigerator and small Keurig machine for beverages. the bed was comfortable. Room and common area were very clean
My welcome started with the clerk Dryden doing above and beyond service and he helped me and my wife with the best night ever he also assisted me and my wife with some great login with the best western club
I stay at 20+ hotels a year, this was the first time at this hotel and the first time I felt valued as a customer. The young lady at check in was very efficient, recognized I was weary and cold from a long day and directed me to the hot cocoa, just what I needed. My room was scrupulously clean, spacious work area, well stocked, quiet fridge and comfy sofa. Well laid out and tastefully decorated. Bed was so comfortable I had the best night's sleep in a very long time. Breakfast is restricted for Covid, but the young lady at checkout made sure I received an ample grab and go breakfast bag before facing my day. Clean, well stocked rooms are always desirable, but the staff made me feel like their most valuable guest. This is definitely the go to hotel for my travels in the area!
Everything was clean and the staff were very kind and professional. One of the staff went outside frequently to shovel and salt the sidewalk and major walkways. It was overall a great stay and if I'm in the area again I would stay
I've stayed at this Best Western a few times when I travel to Ohio. The room is consistently clean, all room supplies are provided, and the staff is friendly and helpful. It is a bit of a drive from Mt. Vernon, but worth it.
Exceptionally clean room. Everything was well stocked, and everything was in good repair. There were plenty of outlets to connect electronics, too. Staff was very friendly. check-in and check-out was quick and easy.
Excellent access off the highway. Pandemic kind of screws up any meaningful review. Only issue was a lack of additional USB ports. Room were clean and had all the amenities. Breakfast was a grab and go - not their fault - was good though. All and all a good place to lay your head down for the night.
We were blown away by the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the room and lobby! We were so happy to find our room, bathroom, and linens immaculately clean! The room was very comfortable and had every necessary amenity. Very happy to get such great facility and service for the economical price.
The owner went out of his way to assist in making the reservation and greeted us upon arrival. Rooms were very clean and accommodations were excellent. Even though covid prevented the pool and breakfast buffet from being open, they provided "grab-n-go" sack breakfast that was very convenient. Owner was delightful!
We broke down on the side of the freeway and stayed here for the night. They were extremely accommodating to let us stay past check out free of charge. (It was $20/hour after noon to stay.) They let us stay over that free of charge while my husband worked out a way to get our car home. We will definitely recommend them to anyone traveling through the area. Great and clean place, comfortable beds and great service! Breakfast was to go because of COVID-19 and pool was closed but it was a nice sized pool and breakfast looked like it would normally have lots of good options.
It was a nice room. Friendly staff I would highly recommend it. I have stayed at best western before and have never been disappointed. Very quiet area. The staff was very helpful and very accommodating
During the pandemic we had to travel for a family members funeral. The folks who owned and run The Best Western at Mount Gilead, Oh helped to make this sad time more tolerable. These Folks were very friendly and helpful, as helpful as they could be with the restrictions pilled upon them during this bad time in our country.
I became sleepy while traveling back home and pulled off the road for the night. A Best Western was there. I haven't stayed at Best Western in a very long time. My room was lovely, staff pleasant, and a variety of foods available for breakfast. I highly recommend it.
While staying at this hotel with my family we were treated with great respect by the night clerk Dryden. He was super nice to my grandchildren and they really liked him. The breakfast was hot, delicious, and plenty of it.
The owner of this inn is very rude and not at all concerned with customer service. My husband booked with Priceline for Wednesday, November 27th, 2019 instead of booking a room for Tuesday night only, November 26, 2019. When he realized he booked for the wrong nght he contacted the Inn and was told by an employee that it was no problem and Wednesday night would be taken off and they had a room for us on Tuesday. He should have contacted Priceline to take care of it but did not think of doing so when the employee said he could take care of it. Checking in that night at 10:30 the same employee said he forgot to take care of it for us but we could check in and he would talk to his manager and we could settle things in the morning. A half hour later the employee calls our room to ask my husband to come see the manager/owner at the front desk. After about 10 min. my husband comes back to the room to let me know the owner is yelling at him as well as her employees and mad at him for not contacting priceline about the change. She told my husband we would have to pay for Wednesday night too. He told me she threathened him with kicking us out if we didn't. My husband went back down the front desk to try to reason with the owner, but she was not willing to try to work things out. I came to the front desk to access the situation and asked her what she had against Priceline and why she wasn't willing to work things out. She yelled at me that it was our fault for going through Priceline and then told us we could leave and pointed towards the door. We packed everything back up and went on down the road to another hotel that treats customers with respect. I have never, ever been treated so poorly in my life at hotel over the owner's greed for money. Instead she would rather throw you out at 11:15 at night.
We where traveling and looked for hotels on our trips and in the past we stayed at Best Western and enjoyed our stay! The price is reasonable but the breakfast could have stayed opened a little longer.
Very clean and well kept. Very good value for the money. I have stayed in a lot of hotels and this one was very good for a hotel along a major interstate. I would highly recommend it for the traveler needing a good, clean place to stay for the night.
The customer service is top notch. The staff is friendly, always someone at the front desk to greet you when you come and go. Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable. Building is smoke free. Delicious hot breakfat. I would highly recommend staying here. The staff is amazing.
I was driving down the highway , it was raining pretty good . I took the exit for the best western. My intentions were to stay at a cheaper place . I'm glad I didn't . It was like home for the weekend . The staff were excellent , it was quiet and I enjoyed the stay very much . Looking forward to going back .
We had been in the area about 6 months earlier, stayed at a different hotel.we wer not satisfied at the ohter place. This hotel is WORLD'S Better!!!!!!! Very clean, quiet, neat hotel. Staff super friendly, Helped with the prroblem I had on arrivial. Even Thanked us for staying there before we checked out!!!!!!!
Clean room, service minded staff. Was quiet even when fully booked. Location easy ride to Columbus, Mount Vernon or Gambier Room climate temps good, low noise AC/heat. One minor shower dispenser issue they quickly resolved with bottled shampoo
The staff was very helpful in recommending local restaurants for dinner, the room was clean and comfortable even though the sofa had definitely seen better days, and the breakfast was much better than expected. However, I was a bit peeved when notified by email that a $50.00 incidental fee was being charged due to make-up on linens. It's obvious the staff did not even attempt washing first as the email was sent within minutes of checking out. Yes, I did spill some blush and my hair dye fades onto towels after I wash my hair. However, never in my life have I had issues with make-up or hair dye ruining towels/linens. I don't use bleach or high dollar detergent at home and the dye lifts right out of my towels. How absurd to charge $50.00 before attempting to clean. I travel often and have never experienced a hotel adding fees over something so trivial. Best Western is first choice when looking for a place to stay, but I would not recommend this one after this issue.
Was charged twice for my room. Nothing works. Linens were ripped and torn and stained the whole trip was exhausting the staff doesn't know how to work their computer systems. Management seemed to be unconcerned that was charged twice.
For those of you looking to compare this hotel with the Hilton, stay at the Hilton. This is a Best Western, extremely clean and well kept. Very nice front desk staff and the cleaning staff are wonderful, this is one of the cleanest rooms I have stayed in anywhere, even the Hilton! Will make this a regular stop. Breakfast above average. Did I say how clean it is?
Spotless lobby, (kind) family-owned, with helpful advice and quality beds. Excellent showers and while the pool was open and pleasant it was too cold for us during our stay. It was superior to the Radisson in which we stayed for roughly 3 times the money just the night before. Highest recommendation: I will return. Upstairs rooms are nice (no elevator) because they are quiet. Nice little fridge and microwave.
Room was very clean. Beds were extremely comfortable which is important with our bad backs!! Breakfast looked good but we had breakfast meetings at other locations so did not partake of the free breakfast at the hotel. Had a good coffee maker in the room but I much prefer real half & half. There is no elevator which we did not know until we checked in. Desk clerk at check in was excellent. Refrigerator badly needed defrosting.
The manager went out of her way to help me to the best of her ability when I had a special inquiry about early check-in ahead of my trip, and ultimately I was permitted an early check-in because the staff already had the room ready. It was clean, quiet, and a comfortable atmosphere. I wasn't expecting the Taj Mahal or resort-caliber lodge by any means, but this hotel still exceeded my expectations. I believe the manager is good at what she does, and everyone on staff went out of their way to be friendly. (Please beware the pool is seasonal, though. I had no personal concerns with this, but another customer was angry because the pool had already closed for the fall and he did not call ahead to check if it would be open.)
There are better options in area. I've stayed several nights and will no longer repeat. Food is not edible and had problem with my luggage. I will now stay anyplace else. Several Hampton doubletree and holiday inns in area
Rooms are very clean, modern and spacious with refrig, microwave, TV, Kuerig , and extras. Queen beds are very comfortable. There was some sort of noise which might have been vibration of the water pipes that was annoying when trying to sleep. The staff and managers are all very friendly and accommodating. Outdoor pool but didn't have the opportunity to use it. Good selection for breakfast from 6 - 9 am. Very safe location right off the interstate and in close proximity of the state highway patrol office. Would definitely stay there again.
As usual the staff was very friendly and courteous and everything else good..... I do not recommend anything but rather relate my experiences. All my experiences with this hotel have been very good. We'll be back.
Clean, well maintained facility. Outside pool area was nice. Everyone was helpful and polite. We did not have breakfast due to time constraints, but did peak in and it looked well kept up. I would use this hotel in the future.
We really enjoyed our overnight experience at this hotel. Very clean, friendly, and wonderful service!!! The rooms were attractive, comfortable, and clean. The front desk service was amazing and we couldn't have asked for a more pleasant person to check in and out with. We would DEFINITELY stay here again!!!
A nice and quality hotel to stay at, especially after staying at a very bad competitor hotel. Clean sheets, towels, and room. Although they don't serve a buffet offering, they do offer a quality full breakfast with omelettes, sausage, potatoes, pastries/breads, yogurts, and juices. The hotel is also located next to a Wendy's, McDonald's, Marathon, and dollar general making getting food easy.
Family of three traveling from St. Louis to Ohio to visit family. Arrived at 11:15pm. Night clerk was very nice and even moved us to the first floor to make it easier on my 72 year old mom. Hotel was clean, rooms were clean and staff was friendly. Great experience and will stay at this Best Western again.
It is a very nice place. The receptionist was pleasant, easy to check in, easy checking out. Plenty of parking. Great Breakfast included fruit, yogurt, eggs, cereal, milk, juice, coffee and more,.Nice ckean rooms. Stayed at Super 8 's for the price but, BEST WESTERN Mt Gilead OHIO off I-71 was worth the extra money for the comfort and cleanliness. Five Stars.
The proprietor couple of the Mt. Gilead Best Western establishment were extremely friendly. We did not have reservation and we were only staying one night on our way to Chattanooga, TN. The gracious couple accepted our visitor center travel discount coupon and because we were out of town suggested a wonderful restaurant to eat at. The Mexican restaurant was excellent. Best Western hotels could use more proprietors like these Mt. Gilead, OH owners! I only regret I didn't get their names for this survey.
We were part of a group of parents from Vandalia, Ohio(Home of the Dayton Int'l Airport) and needed a place to stay for a girls volleyball tournament. I randomly called this Best Western and the lady who answered the phone was so nice and reassured me how clean this Hotel is. They did not disappoint. This place is absolutely spotless and fresh smelling. It is the only Hotel room that I actually walked around the room without my shoes on. It is located next to a quiet exit with easy entrance and parking. Gas/food are located right next to the Hotel. The morning breakfast is huge and most of all the eating area is nice and warm as the temps outside was bitter cold. Very comfortable place to stay with new beds and clean sheets. We were in Disney in 2012 and this place is as clean as a Disney room. No kidding!
We booked this online because of the reviews and we were not let down. The hotel is spotlessly clean and very well maintained. The front desk receptionist was super-friendly and even let us check in a little early. We would absolutely stay here again!!!
I was in the area on business and needed a place to stay. I found very few places in the area to stay and picked this hotel. The front desk got me right into a room and told me what food options were available in the area. Three fast food within sight of the hotel and then a 10 minute drive into town and a couple set down and east restaurants.. There are several gas stations within sight of the hotel to gather some snacks for the room. The rooms are very nice and very pleased with the stay. The hotel chain markets for every two nights you stay you get the third night free. This dose not work for my needs and wish they would just knock the nightly rate to reflect the cost for each night rather then have you pay for two nights then get a free night.. I paid 80.00 for one night, so two nights stay would be 160 with a third night free.. divide 160 by three and you get 53.00 per night. I would be more inclined to stay at this hotel chain if nightly rates were 55 per night than the 80.. I pick the hotels I stay at based on nightly rate, closeness to the job (15 minute or less), reviews online. Definitely would recommend this hotel based on the quality of the rooms. I would ask for a room facing away from the highway. I could hear the highway noise on my side of the hotel and the heater and TV usually drowned the noise out, but will get a room on the other side of the hotel if I am in the area again on business.
The room and bathroom were very clean. I am very picky about my bathrooms but this one was very clean. The room was nicely appointed, the bed was very comfortable. There was an extra bench to put your suitcase on that was higher than the usual suitcase holder. So my husband and I each had someplace to put our suitcases besides the couch. Since my husband is tall he really liked this taller bench. We have never seen this bench in any other Best Western. Hint hint to other Best Westerns. Great idea. The lady at the front desk was very polite and friendly. Due to an emergency, we saw her when we checked in and when out, and she was just as friendly in the morning. They get a thumbs up.
Solo trip. Needed a room for the night. Stopped at exit & there were several hotels. Goggled hotels & reviews & was pleased with those. So chose this hotel. VERY pleased! Will be stopping here every year!
Clean, modern inside, surprising for a small town hotel right off the interstate. I stay here for business, the staff and new owners are all incredible and kind. Breakfast is included, high speed internet. I do wish there was a gym. Summer time there is a great little outside pool.
My husband and I found this little gem of a hotel a few years back on our yearly trek from NY to MO, and we try to stay there every year. The place is super-clean, staff is second to none, price is very affordable, amenities are more than adequate for price. If you're looking for luxury, this isn't for you, but if you want a comfortable stay with really friendly people, I highly recommend this hotel. (And I rarely recommend anything)
Will try to time our ride back home to stay again. Met the owners at check in and they were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and nice, breakfast was good and the woman in charge was great.
Friendly service and up-to date conveniences and amenities. Very pleasant stay. Good beds. Newly renovated with tasteful decor in the lobby. Only nice hotel in Mt Gilead-Chesterville area. Good fast food selection in area.
Great location and easy access to the highway. The rates were great, rooms are very clean, and the employees are very helpful. Breakfast was perfect and very good. Wish the weather was warmer so we could have enjoyed the pool.
I had an unexpected stop and this hotel was perfect. Clean quiet close to the highway, Brandy was so nice when I checked in. The room was very nice. I wish I'd had my swimsuit. The pool looked inviting even in a snowstorm. And when I woke up, the coffee was ready.
Very friendly check in and helpful with finding a place to eat. This place is extremely clean and refreshing. Haven't stayed in a BW in a long time but will consider it in the future if this one is an example of their standards. The breakfast was very tasty. Had a second helping of the cheesy eggs.
The hotel itself is surprisingly nice. Everything was clean and seemed fresh. Room was comfortable. Beds were good, although they don't use fitted sheets (just a mattress cover and two flat sheets). Breakfast was ok, nothing special. My beef is they seem to try to nickel and dime you during your stay. My wife and I have 4 small children, all age 5 and under, so a total of 6 of us. We were required to get two adjoining rooms because we had 6. I understand this policy, and was willing to do it, so this did not affect my review at all. What did affect my review was the fact that in order to get a pack n play or crib for my youngest, they wanted to charge me extra. I've stayed in lots of hotels with my kids. We never take our pack n play because I've never been asked to pay a fee to use one at the hotel. Rather annoying. They also have a fee for late checkout.... even though it is very clear that this hotel doesn't really fill up. So, is the hotel nice? Yea. But the way they kept trying to get my money was a huge turnoff.
Everything was perfect in this property - everything worked and was in perfect repair. Room was cozy and ready for my check in. Staff was pleasant and helpful. I would definitely recommend this as the place to stay if you are in that area!
Stopped after a long day of driving, room was clean, staff was very friendly, breakfast was terrific - it was just a great stay all around. Definitely a good pick! Stopped here out of convenience but it was really a welcomed, comfortable stay.
Melody who works there is the best, made our stay the best, she goes out of her way to make sure you are happy,I called the hotel direct and the manager booked our room for us,she was also great, looking foreward to our next stay,(we stayed there 3 different times this year)great breakfast, room, and staff
we stop to sleep and have dinner on route home from GA, the women that checked us in was extremely nice and was helpful with information about where to get dinner. it was late and we were tired and hungry. the local Dominios delivered directly to our room
I recently stay at this property in the jacuzzi suite the air conditioner cover fell off I set it aside because the air still worked and I didn't want to complain about it. After checking out I received a call fro the general manager about how I broke their air conditioning I tried to explain myself but she didn't want to hear it. They charged my card 290.00 extra for it. She was very rude and disrespectful.
After a long day and night of traveling in constant rain we found this hotel right off the interstate. Melody who checked us in that evening and was our breakfast host the next morning couldn't have been more friendly. Being in the hospitality industry ourselves it is so important to us that people in this industry smile and are genuinely happy to serve as we are so it was a wonderful reprieve to see a smiling face along with a "whatever I can do" I will attitude. I asked Melody if there was some cold fresh fruit and asked if they had any strawberries or blueberries and Melody went beyond the call of friendly when she offered me her own personal strawberries! Thanks Melody for being such a great asset to the hospitality industry!
I stayed at the Best Western for one week in August. Nice, clean and recently updated. Front desk was helpful. Breakfast was basic eggs, meats and pastries. Gave only 4 Stars because the hotel is at least 20 min. from any entertainment or decent restaurant.
Good Basic hotel with great customer service. The rooms are nice and clean but not fancy. Breakfast is offered in the mornings and there is a pool. For a location so close to the highway I found the location to be very quiet
My wife and I were in town for the event at Cardinal Center. We had a great experience at this location and we plan on coming back next year. The new owners are doing a great job at updating the hotel. Their breakfast is really good and Tina was there to make sure everything was stocked for guests.
What a great little hotel in such a small town. Clean rooms, friendly staff and most notedly the rooms have a modern decor that I did not expect. Beds are VERY comfortable. The new owners are very attentive, you would not be disappointed in the value offered here.
We stayed here for one night and it was really nice. Clean, comfortable room and very friendly, helpful staff. Conveniently located right off Rte. 71 with gas and restaurants nearby. Decent breakfast, not the best but certainly acceptable. This two story hotel does not currently have an elevator but they just got their permit to have one installed. Until then stay on the first floor is need be (line the lovely elderly couple we met at breakfast who also enjoyed their stay). I would definitely stay here again.
My family of four only stayed one night but was the best hotel stay we have had in a long time from Colorado to Ohio the desk clerk Melody was very sweet and helpful room was extremely clean pool was great breakfast was delicious thank you best Western executive in in Mount Gilead for such a refreshing hotel experience it was like home away from home will definitely be coming back
I didnt need anything fancy, just a reasonably priced clean, comfortable hotel for a night, and thats exactly what I got! Very conveniently located right off the highway, but far enough away so that it was not noisy at all. Some of the staff was extremely nice, others were a bit less so; but overall I enjoyed my room, and the breakfast.
Was a nice quiet place, staff was friendly and helpful, especially sense we didn't get to the hotel until almost 3 am. Rooms were clean and there were plenty of pillows on the bed. Only negatives was breakfast ends at 9am witch is a little early to me. All and all it is a nice place and would stay here again.
My daughter had a volleyball tournament 2 hrs away from home so we decided to book a room so that she could get a fresh start in the morn. We got the hotel the staff who greeted us was so nice and welcoming. I'm a stickler for cleanliness the room was spotless. Breakfast was a nice little touch and the worker who was in charge of it was so sweet. For the price this was a very nice place to stay.
The hotel is ok, little outdated, rooms are outdated. Very small hotel, well lighted parking lot. There is a Wendys next to the hotel and its not far to walk to. This hotel also has big truck parking and does take pets.
Pet friendly. Clean quiet room. Decent hot breakfast. Courteous staff. Right off the interstate. Traveled to the area for a funeral. Price is cheaper if you call the hotel direct. We were very pleased with our stay.
This was the best Best Western we stayed at in our month adventure south. The service was excellent at check in and check out. The room was very spacious and clean, the bed comfortable. We had a good night.
Thank you so much for making our family Christmas a wonderful experience. We got to put up a table top tree in the room, decorate cookies in the breakfast bar and share the holiday spirit with our grandkids.
I love this hotel, excellent place, I would recommend everyone to please try it out. Lovely staff personnel and managers and love the cleanliness of this property and not to forget the breakfast bar was enjoyable.
I travel to Mt Gilead several times a year and usually stay in Marion. It was so nice to learn of a closer option. I was very happy with the room especially the cleanliness and comfort and will be returning here several times a year.
Nice place. For wheelchair individuals the beds are extremely high to transfer into. The bathroom offered all have a tub and no roll in showers. This did not meet my needs. Also expensive if you can't use the amenities.
I arrived early in the evening. The staff member was on their phone and even though the place was quiet and they were not busy it took them a few moments to acknowledge my arrival and help me check in. The room had an odour and there was noise that easily transferred from the hallways making it difficult to settle in for a decent nights rest. I had to be up very early to catch a flight and found this disturbing. There were cracked tiles on the bathroom floor and corners were dirty in appearance. The bed thankfully was quite comfortable. Check-out proved to be just as disappointing. The staff couldn't log into the computer to send out an e-mail copy of my receipt. They took down my information but never did follow through and send out the requested receipt. The location was convenient, but the site and staff were only average at best.
A very good place. Clean, friendly staff, breakfast look good. I do not eat breakfast but I did drink the coffee and it was good. The staff is very friendly. T.V. was new. (I had to have help finding the channels.) Right on interstate. Not far from 8 Sisters bakery, a great place. You must check it out. You can see it from motel. Only problem was an old sofa that was way too uncomfortable and needed to be thrown out. Other than that it was great. Stayed five nights. Good price for rooms.
We stopped on our way east and were very pleased. Close to the highway but about 8 miles from any non-fast food, clean comfortable room, good breakfast although there were very few tables in the breakfast room. Sherrie, the desk clerk, recommended an excellent Mexican restaurant (La Cabanita) in town.
Was looking for a place to stay overnight while making a 15 hour drive. We chose this Best Western hotel because it was the right location at the right place but couldn't have been more pleased with our decision. The staff was helpful, friendly and expedient. The room, lobby and breakfast are were clean. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower had great water pressure. Breakfast was between 6 am and 9am which worked for us but if we wanted to sleep in I might have preferred it to be open a little later but for us it worked out fine. Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a hotel in this area at a reasonable rate.
used best western this trip for our hotel as always. the hotel itself was very good, very well kept and located near the interstate. the rooms were comfortable and clean and the front desk staff was very friendly and helpful at check in/check out and when we had questions. the only issue we had was a non-working coffee maker and the lack of shampoo in a dispenser provided for that purpose.
The prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and comfortable. We stayed after Labor Day so the pool was closed, but we expected that anyway. We will definitely stay here in the future.
I was very pleased with this motel. It was very clean and all of the amenities worked the way they should. No broken air conditioner grills. lamps, tv remotes etc. Beds were comfortable and bath had plenty of room. Thanks for the comfortable stay!
Very Clean building and staff very nice when we arrived and all through our stay. The Breakfast area was clean and well kept. We joined the rewards program as it seemed like a very good idea. WE got credit for our room that very day when we left to go check out! We will certainly travel to Best Westerns again.
The rooms have been painted and there is new decor. Housekeeping did a good job. Coffee and breakfast was satisfactory. Nice to have the mini fridge when you are staying several days. Hotel was close to Marengo where we were traveling to each day. We did not use the pool but it looked nice.
Budget hotel, priced fairly for what you get. They offer breakfast, but make other plans. Both coffee urns were empty when we went to the breakfast room in the morning.Luckily there was a Keurig in the room, but there was only one pod for regular coffee. The other was decaf. Hotel is good for a one-night stop.
Great hotel and staff. Very clean and the breakfast was good. My only issue is no dining options nearby. Staff provided an option but it was about 15 minutes away. Outdoor pool was very nice! The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. This is a great place to stay for the night. We wen to the IndyCar race and the track is only about 20-25 minutes away, I just wish there was more around the hotel.
The rate was too high for quality of room and amenities offered, compared to other hotels I had stayed in on my trip, including other Best Westerns. The room smelled of tobacco smoke, even though it was supposed to be a non-smoking facility. The decor was dark and dismal. The availability of TV channels was limited.
This probably one of the best BW I have ever stayed at. The rooms are newly remodeled and the ambiance of the hotel felt welcoming. The breakfast was good, there was an array of TV channels to chose from, beds were comfortable, and the shower was amazing. The staff was also very polite and very quick with check in. Would definitely recommend anyone to stay here and I will certainly stay again!!
Stayed here for a softball tournament. Breakfast was so-so but found 8 sister's bakery right around the corner went there for breakfast 2 of the 3 days. Outdoor pool closes at 9 even on a Friday which was a bit of a bummer being that there was nothing else for the girls to do. Felt it was a little pricey for such a small town and minimal amenities.
Your basic BW, no frills, no paper tv directory(scrollng via tv is time-consuming),given only one small bar of soap for all needs. Breakfast, quite spartan. A new small excellent breakfast spot within a block east of hotel.
After screwing up our total nights stay, they charged me double for staying an extra night, after we were there 4 nights already. After calling and telling the manager I brought 3 other families into stay at his hotel and we would be coming back next year, he refused to give me a respectful credit, so 4 families will not be going back there to stay.
Overall adequate. Breakfast wasn't the best. The coffee tasted bad and the eggs and sausage weren't very good. The orange juice was watery. I did like the waffle the next morning. The rooms are clean and the cleaning staff were friendly. We were disappointed with the small uncomfortable pillows and the uncomfortable couch. The bed was ok, my husband liked it but I prefer a softer bed. The bathroom was very clean.
Definitely will stay at this hotel again! My son had a shoot at the Cardinal Center and this hotel was only 10 minutes away. The hotel was clean, updated rooms and comfortable beds. The hotel staff was very kind and pleasant.
The room was clean and the hotel quiet it was away from things but I'm used to driving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!' The only problem was they were out of toner for there printer which made go to an office max before my morning meeting
The appearance from the outside was neat. The Manager was very neat and very polite and professional. Upon entering the hotel it was very neat and clean. Our room was very clean and housekeeping did a great job keeping it that way. We plan to stay here the next time we are in town and highly recommend this hotel to others.
I was very happy with my stay here even though it was for only 6 hours. The room was clean and the shower hot. The location cannot be beat, just 40 minutes or north of Columbus and right off the highway.
The Best Western in Mt. Gilead has been recently remodeled. It is spectacular. The nicest Best Western we have stayed at in years. I highly recommend stopping there. Close to the highway. the front desk staff were excellent. Polite and caring.
The hotel doesn't look like much from the outside, but the rooms were updated and very clean. It was a nice stop for the evening. Not many places close by but they did offer complementary breakfast that was enough to fill us up for the ride home.
Went to visit family stayed here in the past. I would say avg back before updates. Stayed this year and WOW wonderful updates, clean, nice rooms, like the location keeps us out of busy Columbus and shortens our trip home the next day. Very quiet and pleasant.
We stopped here last minute to get a nights sleep. It was extremely clean and had pretty decent breakfast options Which was helpful since we have a long day of traveling ahead of us still. We would definitely recommend it.
Nice place to stay. The only problem was that we had to drive to Mansfield to eat a sit down meal after 8:30 pm. Nice quality for free breakfast. I could not ask for a nicer room for the family. Clean and safe!
Great room, excellent customer service (thanks Sarah & Mary !!!) Arrived late, cold, tired & was warmly greeted. Sarah found a room that exactly fit my needs. Lovely, spacious, spotless. Fridge/micro & flat screen TV. Free wifi with great signal. Gorgeous granite counters in sparkling clean bathroom. Easily accessible bedside outlets for chargers, laptop, etc. Slept well on super comfortable bed with nice linens & lots of fat, fluffy pillows. Keurig coffee maker in room, nice touch !!! Continental was well tended. All they lacked was automatic front doors. There is a Knight's Inn nearby but don't waste your time there...BW is far superior & worth every penny. Would DEFINITELY stay here again :-)
This is a great place to stay if you are traveling and need a pitstop for a night. The rooms are clean, and it is right off the interstate. The only negative sides were the lack of vegan/vegetarian options at breakfast.
Great customer service, very attentive staff. Supper clean, comfortable place that offer breakfast for those who want to stay for a little bit or are just passing like my family. We recharged our batteries to continue our trip back home safely.
So pulling up in the middle of the night in the middle of a corn field I was like what am I getting in too. " Is this a best western? I looks like a 70's Super 8 from the out side?" Check it out, clean outside, nice clean lobby, Staff was not the most friendly but it was 3 am when I checked in. SO I will give him a pass. Get to the room and bam. Everything looks shinny and new. Nice design, smelled good, clean. I was surprised.
This facility has been recently renovated: paint, carpet, furniture, etc. The breakfast was the correct temperature, plentiful, and tasty!!! The night auditor checked us in the middle of the dark hours with a welcoming joy displayed with his voice and manner. Having read a few of the previous reviews that were less complimentary than this one, check this location out again. We would happily stop here again, even if we checked in earlier than 1:30 a.m. We fell into bed and slept wonderfully with lots of hot water to revive us for further journeying in the morn. The check-out team was super, also.
This is a small hotel in a small town - it is right off the interstate and easily located. There isn't much to eat around but there is a Wendy's you can walk to easily from the hotel. Reception was warm, friendly and the clerk efficient. The lobby is smallish but it does include a comfortable, nicely decorated sitting area. The room seemed clean, fresh and new. Carpet was in super shape and the walls painted a very soft blue. The dark brown accents made for a serene, atmosphere. I liked the abundance of landing places for luggage - there was a particularly capacious deep bench in the room. The AC worked perfectly and the bed was comfortable. We had a ground floor room since the hotel does not have an elevator and I did hear people walking above me at 2300 but they soon settled down. Breakfast was simple but sufficient: egg and sausage patties (no bacon when we stayed), bread and sweet rolls, yogurt, cereal and a waffle maker. The coffee was a solid middle of the road blend and the OJ was more of an orange drink but it did the job. All in all this was a nice stay.
That will be the only complaint that you will hear from me. Staff was very helpful and everything was as it should be. The pool was clean and refreshing, the room was clean and tidy, breakfast was super. The only thing was when I checked in and when I checked out I had to wait about ten minutes (like the little sign said).
Great value, only 2 stories and no elevator but otherwise awesome. Morning staff was super helpful with us using a Best Western rewards card. Its a good location for us to visit our daughter at Kenyon College in Gambier.
This hotel is close to the highway but very quiet. This is the second time we stay at this hotel. The room is in good condition (they were under renovation when we stayed the first time). The breakfast option is limited, but they do have the bacon.
other than the check in experience when I checked in this best western was actually very nice. The rooms where clean and decorated pretty nice. the lobby was clean and the breakfast was sufficient too.
Nice, clean, reasonably priced, efficient, sufficient, slightly more than a continental breakfast included with a waffle maker, coffee, juice, pre-made egg rounds, biscuits, gravy, cereal, milk, sausage, bacon, muffins, doughnuts, pastries, etc. Wi-fi worked well. Easy to get to from the main highways. Reasonably priced with comfortable beds and a good shower. Would recommend this hotel if passing through this way.
My husband and I were traveling back to Buffalo, New York after a long drive from Nashville . We needed a place to stay after finding that there was absolutely nothing in and around Columbus . We found the Best Western executive Inn to be available, clean, pleasant , new and comfortable . There was a small fridge and microwave in the room and all amenities needed. Would highly recommend for an overnight when you are tired from driving.
motel was ok thats all i can say but the prices are equivalent to 5 star cos i was in a bind and had to take a break for my journey during night. ended up here and got ripped off.168 dollars a night you kidding me??
This motel was clean and peaceful. There is fast food very close. Some rooms have a refrig and microwave, but not all of them have both. The staff was very helpful and offered to help with our luggage.
I can't say enough good things about my recent stay at the Best Western motel in Mount Gilead, Ohio. To begin with, when I called to make reservations, my requests were very specific, as I was traveling with my disabled Mom. Every need was met and every question was answered in detail by Carol, the always-friendly desk person who took my reservation. When we arrived, Carol helped us check in a little early (not necessary, but it helped a lot), explained everything to us, and helped me get my tablet connected to the motel's wi-fi. The room was completely clean and comfortable, the free breakfast was delicious and well-maintained, and the rest of the staff was very friendly and helpful. I've stayed at many motels over the years, and I'm rarely treated to customer service of this high level. Best Western in Mount Gilead does everything right.
We do lots of road trips. In order to simplify our hotel reservations, we decided on this trip to only stay at Best Westerns. This worked great until yesterday. I was looking for a Best Western and found this one with an advertised price if $74 for a room. Tried to book for that night w no luck. Called Best Western and the rate was $175!!! Military discount was $152...:( We booked and arrived about midnight. Drove past it twice in the dark looking for a tall BW sign. Finally spotted it with a ground level sign set back from the road. No elevator, so we had to schlep our bags up. Tiny bath. 1 small shampoo/con combo, 1 tiny bar of soap. Continental breakfast...meh. Room very basic. Very unimpressed. Only bright spot was Nathan, the night clerk. He helped us get pizza delivered and offered to help me with my bags. Paid more than enough for an executive level BWestern experience. This was not it!
I had stayed at this location about a year ago. It was acceptable at that time, but now it has been remodeled. Everything was much nicer including the breakfast. As expected though, the price did go up.
Hotel was not bad. They have refurbished the hotel in the last couple of months. Everything was very clean. The one thing I noticed is the shower/bathtub is very cheap. I felt like it wasn't very secure....cheap plastic. Other then that it was a good one night. Breakfast was good, eggs, sausage, biscuits, waffle maker, were the hot items, and then they had the usual breads and pastries and cold cereal, oatmeal, juices, fresh fruit, yogurt. There was something you could definitely find to eat to start your day.
We like staying outside the city and this was an excellent choice. The staff was very friendly, the beds new and very comfortable. The facility has been totally renovated, crisp, clean and convenient to the interstate. The breakfast offerings were great! Waffles, eggs, sausage, rolls, biscuits and choice of beverages. Do not hesitate to stay here!!!
Pulled in at 1030pm looking for somewhere clean to sleep. Beyond expectations! Freshly renovated. Quiet. The rooms are quite lush, new mattress, towels, new key card entry. There was even a disinfected remote in a bag. BWish every stay could be like this. Hot breakfast was very good, even a waffle maker. Very quiet area so I turn fan of a/c unit, it had a little rumble.
Breakfast area too small. Breakfast foods were ok. They did not serve real eggs. Room rate was too high for being under construction. Rooms were clean. Beds are firmer. One room smelled like cigarette smoke even though the building is non smoking.
Very disappointing! Book this hotel through trip advisor not realizing when the site didn't allow me to add children we would be charged extra $20 upon arrival. Beware your kids are adults at age 12 here. Remolding and horrible paint smell. No elevator so you have to drag your lugage up the stairs. Hallways full of work materials ect...Beds don't even have fitted sheets, just flat sheet with a hole in it over mattress pad. You must ask for more blankets because no comforter on beds. Would have moved to another hotel if any were avaliable. Will be avoiding Best Western hotels in the future. Will be inquiring with BBB.
From the outside you might not chose this hotel, but we were pleasantly surprised. Very nice, would stay again. 4 pillows are not enough on the King beds. the breakfast was nice, conveniently off the high way, right next to a mall if you need anything.
I have stayed at Best Western hotels in my travels to California and for the price the one in Gilead Ohio was way overpriced for the location and what they don't offer. The hotels need to revamp all their rooms not just the ones in California. I would not stay at this hotel again, the Super 8 we moved to after 1 night in this hotel was much better than the one in Gilead. Cleaner, better room amenities and set up better for travel with two small kids.
I spent a night in this hotel while my daughter was doing an overnight visit to Mount Vernon Nazarene University, about a half hour away. It was an excellent stay. I was particularly impressed by two things: an excellent hot breakfast, with good protein choices, and an extremely friendly staff. I was consistently greeted pleasantly by every member of the staff I encountered during my brief stay. Kudos to the staff training and expectations by the management. The basics were all there as well -- a clean, comfortable, spacious room with several amenities. The only small complaint I had was that the desk was positioned so that the power strip mounted on it could not actually be plugged into a wall outlet. This did not actually create a problem for me as my laptop cord is long, but a guest might have to move the desk in order to use the power on it. The location is also good -- it is very close to I-71, but positioned so that there is no highway noise in the rooms, even on the side closest to the interstate. The view is not great but not unpleasant. The location is somewhat remote, being several miles outside the nearest small town, and about 45 minutes from the Columbus area. There are a few fast-food places and gas station/convenience stores in the immediate area, so necessities are accessible.
The room was clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast very nice, a large variety of food. Was about 20 minutes from my brother's house where we spent Thanksgiving day. Friendly staff. Would and will stay again.
This motel is about 40 minutes outside Columbus, and is a good value. It was clean, comfortable, and well priced. No complaints at all. I would recommend that they provide comforters on the beds, but without one I just adjusted the heat until comfortable.
We stayed at this hotel during my sister in laws funeral. It was not a good time but the hotel was perfect. Everyone was really nice. When I made the reservation over the phone through the 800 number I was told that they had no king rooms available except one with a jacuzzi in the room and it was 135.00 a night plus tax. I settled for 2 queen beds for 89.00 plus tax. When we arrived at the hotel and the whole 5 days we were there there may have been a total of 15 people. They gave us a king room for 89.00 - so don;t trust the central schedulers. Call the hotel directly. Overall this was a an excellent hotel and a great value. One warning though it is in the middle of nowhere and the closest town (Mt. Gilead) is about 20 minutes away to stores, rest and there is not a lot of those there either.
Sometimes you just need a cheap place to stay in the middle of nowhere because it's en route to where you're going to need to be the next morning. And that's pretty much what this hotel provides. I did have some difficulty finding the place, as I arrived at night and the hotel sign was not illuminated. In face, there really weren't any lights on that I could see until I finally found the parking lot. (Which took a leap of faith in my GPS as passing the first turn off for the hotel puts you on an lit road by a cornfield.) The lady at the desk was nice, the room was clean and the decor wasn't really dated. My biggest complaint is that the weather had turned cold, but the bed still only had one thin blanket on it. I had to turn the heat up to a level I normally would not sleep with and also put towels over the bed as I really wanted a little more weight on me to facilitate sleep. The towels were okay, but the washcloth I used had holes in it. Good TV with a ton of channels was a plus though! Breakfast was OK. I opted for cold options, but my daughter went with eggs and sausage. She did not like them and did end up with an upset stomach. It was hard to have a conversation or listen to the news on the TV, as the indoor fountain was much too loud for the enclosed space with a tile floor. So the hotel got the job done. It wasn't terribly expensive, but then again it wasn't terribly nice either. I've been in better budget hotels, but then again, I've been in worse. If I could give this 3.5 stars, I definitely would.
The hotel was clean. the room was decent, but the hotel is located in the middle of nowhere. I had a 60 minute commute into and back from Marion each day. The clerk assured me it was 15 minutes. It was not. you get what you pay for. it was clean and cheap.
Very clean room, bed and pillows were very comfortable. Front desk clerks were so friendly and helpful. Very quiet, peaceful sleep. Everyone was very friendly and knowledgeable. Breakfast was a hot omelette bar, bacon and sausage and the regular breakfast items. I would definitely stay there again!! The value was also amazing!!
It was clean and comfortable and perfect for one night while on the road, and the staff was friendly. They did have eggs and sausage in addition the the standard hotel breakfast items. We didn't have time to check out the pool.
lovely facility. clean rooms. comfortable bedding. A friendly, professional, knowledgeable staff. quiet in the evening for a good nights sleep. Plenty of hot water for bathing.. Convenient to major highways. Ample lighted parking lot I would stay here again when in the area
Traveled all day til 130 am. Had a reservation prepaid through Expedia. Check in went well, hotel is nice, clean, lady at the front desk was very nice, helpful. Breakfast was ok, orange and apple juice was watered way down. Simple breakfast but sufficient. Again this was prepaid and she took my credit card and swiped it again. I questioned this as the room was paid for. She said I was not being charged just verifying the card. At checkout the next day, I get an alert on my phone from the bank I was charged..62.17 , price of the room before taxes. I called Expedia who then called the front desk. He was told (I stood there too) that it was a $50 charge for incidentals in case the room was damaged. I let him know it was more then $50. He helped me question this and after checkout the charge was removed..I feel if I had not questioned this I would have been charged.
