This was the last stop for us on a 2 week roadtrip. The town is small and so is the hotel and parking lot, but exactly what was needed. The beds were super comfy. We had a quiet night's sleep. The best part? The staff! The woman at check-in who also owned the joint called ahead to a restaurant late in the evening to make sure they were open and could serve us -- Beach Burger (which was SO yummy!!). Then to top it off, my mom left her credit card behind at the desk and she made sure to return it to us the next morning! So honest and thoughtful! They served a warm breakfast that we could take up to their balcony rooftop to eat. Definitely stay here if you're hanging around Morro Bay on a budget.
This place is super clean and the bed was great. We came into town after driving all night. Arrived in the morning and they were one of the only places in the area that would let us have a room immediately for a few hours rest. So as everyone else was grabbing their free breakfast and going to the pool, we closed the blinds and went to sleep. No noise to bother us. It was perfect!
Clean and comfortable. Convenient to the embarcadero, welcoming, easy parking and very quiet. Breakfast included but nothing to write home about. Coffee was good. Lots of good restaurants and bars nearby. View of Morro Rock from rooftop deck.
Made a reservation with Laurie, the Owner, on June 10, 2024. I took detailed notes about all terms/conditions at that time. She said the cancellation policy was 24 hours before check-in & I wrote that in my notes. The check-in date was for Friday, July 26. On Wed, July 24, due to family matters, i called to cancel---was first told all was OK but then I got a call-back saying the cancellation period was 72 hours before check-in. I relied on the owner's representations and called within the given time frame but the Owner still is billing my CC for the room. Will challenge that with my CC company.
Will definitely stay here again. Short walk to the pier, close to local restaurants, great view of Morro Rock, excellent room.
Hotel was nice and clean, but way over priced. The total cost was $275 for one night, which is extremely high priced for a Best Western. Should have been have that amount. The manager said the free breakfast alone is worth $20, but the breakfast was garbage, and the coffee was horrible.
We had a very good experience. Katie at the front desk was very kind, professional, and helpful, they provided breakfast in the morning but we chose to go to a local diner. Room was updated and we had a great view of Morro Rock. The town had a small fishing town vibe and it was exactly what we were looking for.
Stayed four nights. The hotel is small with very nice rooms in a great location close to the Embarcadero. Our room faced the water and had a great view. The daily breakfast is hot and fresh and very good. The manager is very kind and hospitable and goes out of her way to make her customers feel welcome. We would definitely stay here again.
No toilet paper in bathroom, had to go to desk to get a roll. Window screen was broken out and left on flloor outside room window. Only 2 towels for 3 people in restroom and bathroom corners were very dirty.
we stayed one night here and it was a good stay. The service is perfect and the hostess does everything to help you and serve you. The parkingplace is situated in front of the rooms, perfect. Breakfast was small but good. This is surely a place for a stay.
Stayed one night returning from Capitola to Los Angeles. Hotel is convenient walking distance to downtown, adequate parking and the room and common areas clean. Some of the equipment in the bathroom getting tired, old, should be replaced. Same with lights/lighting. Bed and bedding comfortable and the room was quiet. Not permitted to check-in until the check-in time, and they may not have had rooms available.
Management will run your credit card on file to pay for the room early and not notify you if there happens to be an event in town. Very rude staff. Room wasnt available till 3:30pm
I booked my reservation online, found a deal and choose the King bed and paid for my reservation online and had my confirmation number. The girl in the front desk looked up my reservation and said I paid too little for my room and therefore she decided herself to change my room and downgraded my room to a queen, which had not been cleaned yet, had no headboard for the bed, had poop in the toilet when we got there and towels missing, in other words she downgraded us to a smaller room and a room that was not prepared or cleaned yet because she decided herself that I paid too low for the original room I reserved and paid for online using my discount. Never have I experienced such disrespect that way I did from this young girl. I can't believe she changed my reservation based on her opinion that I paid too low and downgraded me based on what she believed I deserved and paid for. I hope you will address her horrible treatment and actions as soon as possible.
We were scheduled to stay here from 3/26 to 3/28. We checked in to a fully occupied motel due to it being spring break. We were in room 103. First observation when entering the room was how filthy and stained the carpets were. I went into the bathroom and there was hair, dirt and a shampoo cap in the shower. We found several flies in the room and several ants on the beds. We went to a planned dinner with family amd then returned to the hotel. Without option for the night, we stayed in the room as there was not an alternative with as late as it was. I made me children undress and dress for bedtime on the bed due to the sticky foulness this hotel considers carpet. During the night the plumbing in the sink began to back up. It would drain and then do it again all night long. The smell was horrendous and looked like a cross of muddy coffee grounds. In the morning I made a decision to leave this cesspool motel and attempt to find an alternative. If unable I was prepared to cut our vacation short. I went to thw lobby and let them know we were leaving a day early and requested a refund for the 2nd day due to the horrendous condition of this room. The clerk denied it. He said he would discuss it with his manager and that the manager would call me. That didn't happen. When we got home on 3/28 I called the hotel to speak with the manager. I was told the manager would be in at 3. I asked to have the manager call me and they said okay. No call was received. On 3/29 I called corporate customer service to request a refund and they initially offered me a $50 credit towards a future stay. I declined. Then I was offered a $75 credit toward a future stay. I again declined as it wasn't even thw cost of the room I left. Best Western Tradewinds is AWFUL. Best Western corporate is unreasonable. DO NOT STAY HERE OR AT ANY BEST WESTERN FOR THAT MATTER. If you want to talk to someone or need a resolution, you will be disappointed!
Walking distance to see otters, ocean view room, friendly staff, really good breakfast and decent price. My husband loved that lobby had fresh brewed coffee available all day long and the room had a coffee maker!! Will definitely be coming to stay with y'all again.
Nice property, close to everything and greater owner onsite! The owner was there during our stay and made sure we had what we needed. Morro Bay is nice and quite, minimal night life but beautiful year round! This hotel provides great access to be able to walk everywhere.
Cons: Stayed on a weekday in January at $125 which is a bit pricey. It was my 5 year old and myself. That might have been the reason we were put in the smallest hotel room i have ever stayed in. Im very easy going on rooms. Give me 4 walls, a roof and a bathroom and i'm good but the way the room was set up was strange. Window facing a little alleyway, walk in shower but the water flowed into the rest of the bathroom where every time we used the restroom we would bring water out into the rest of the room. Hot water took 5 minutes to kick in (which i didn't mind but see above). PROS: Richard was the best host. Extremely nice to myself and my boy. Breakfast was super good. Omelets, sausage, pancakes were the main course. This is included in the stay and thankfully makes me feel better about spending $125 for a Thursday. Overall, i would say here again but next time ask for the room in the picture on the website and not whatever that was that we stayed in.
Very helpful staff, average accommodations. We unintentionally arrived at Morro Bay on the night of the holiday boat parade and the town was very busy and festive. The hotel staff told us all about the event and was otherwise very helpful. The hotel had been through some major renovations with some newer finishes and the room was clean but some things were still pretty basic. I was overall surprised at the high Morro Bay hotel prices, especially as many of the hotels/motels looked pretty average or even below average from the street view, but maybe that was because of the special event.
The room we were in where was nice & clean. There were good amenities, Coffe maker, hair dryer & fridge. The bed & pillows were comfy. Our room was in a corner with not much of a view. Heating & cooling worked well but were a bit noisy
The hotel bumped us to rent out the entire hotel to the California State Parks Training members. Gave my father a room with a broken AC and me a room with a broken toilet and awful water pressure. After stating here for 7 years off and on I will not return.
decent hotel good parking in nice area, easy walk to harbour and wildlife. big choice of restaurants. Rooms clean slightly small but quiet .reception staff very helpful about local area ,breakfast only ok .
Amazing experience! The staff made us feel like family! The room was very nice, beds super comfy, had everything we needed. The breakfast was awesome and the view from the top patio was worth it all! We Will absolutely go back! Had a great experience!
Great place to stay. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms and close to everything you could want in Morro Bay. 5 minutes to the main strip, 10 mins to the Morro Bay Rock and the wonderful beach. Yes in need of a bit of an upgrade but it does the job you need. Breakfast was good, no complaints at all.
This by far is the best place to stay in Morro Bay Although you don't have a view of the ocean, you can't beat the friendly staff and the amazing breakfast that they put together every morning. The location is so convenient. You are minutes away from everything you need. And it's exactly 3 minutes to drive down to the beach. highly recommended.
Very friendly hotel, and good clean rooms. I was lucky to get an awesome second floor room with a window in the shower from which you could see The Rock in Morro Bay through the screen which was awesome at check in and that eve but the fog in the morning blocked out the bay and rock so had no view but it was still cool to have a window in the shower that opened. The room was super clean and comfortable .. no complaints at all. Very enjoyable room and at a great reasonable price point.
Courteous staff, clean room, good grab and go breakfast. Comfortable beds. Rooms are small, but if you're out doing things, it doesn't really matter. Within walking distance of major attractions, and good restaurants.
OK place. Walking distance to wharf and places to eat. Exterior entrance rooms which is what I need for my style of travel. Check in takes a long time for some reason....had to wait about 25 min because I was behind 3 other people and everyone was "chatty"
Best western tradewinds rooms are really clean the staff is amazing also the cleaning ladies do a great job iam a custodian so i see a lot when i go into a room especially a hotel but honestly everything was clean even downstairs for breakfast was great i like that its simple some fast to take a hit the road
Our family of four had a one night stop here as we traveled down the coast. We enjoyed Morro Bay and this hotel. It is small, but very convenient and walkable to anywhere you'd like to go in town. The owners re very kind and accommodating. We enjoyed the breakfast provided.
First time trying the Best Western Tradewinds and had a very pleasant stay. Very good location; both close to the Embarcadero and to Main Street/downtown. Nice views of the bay and Morro Rock from some of the rooms. Rooms were clean, well stocked, comfortable mattresses. Office staff were very pleasant, helpful and accommodating. Very generous breakfast offerings in the lobby, and fridges in the room. Nice to have a Tesla charger on site as well. Would definitely recommend this hotel, and would stay here again.
My friends and I have stayed here many times and have always been pleased with our stay. The staff has always been helpful and very kind. Our 3 night stay was our first stay under the new ownership/management and I must say the new team is excellent, so very kind and very helpful! We look forward to staying here again.
Sadly, the days of Victor and Kala are over. They always made us feel so welcome and appreciated. While the current front desk staff was cordial, it just doesn't have the same family feel under the new owners. The housekeeping staff was great, but overworked. The owners between Victor and Kala and the current owners were also family friendly and they were always on site. The young people running it now are just employees and they remind you that they must have their mandated 30 minute break every so often. So, they lock up and leave travelers wondering when they will be back. It just feels like the new owners are off in some remote location, reaping the profits from their newly acquired property. The property is starting to look a bit run down. The door frames and trim are dirty and the bed mattresses are in serious need of replacement. I spent three nights here and my back is hurting from sleeping on the sagging mattress. So, hopefully the new owners will see this review and put some TLC and human influence back in to a place that once felt like a home away from home. The location is still awesome, and that is primarily why we always stay there.
Front desk personnel, Mr. Garrett is very helpful and professional. Gave us recommendation on good restaurants around the area. Hotel is walking distance to Moro Bay Rock, Embarcadero, and Restaurants. Hotel is clean and excellent internet connection.
We enjoyed this hotel because it was clean, had very friendly staff and a nice view of Morrow Rock. It was also very close to shops and lots of restaurants. We would definitely stay here again--I miss this place already!
Planned a large work trip for my company and everyone was very happy with the hotel and the location. This hotel refilled coffee daily and towels w/o having to ask and everything you might want to see in MB is easily in walking distance from here.
FJB Vote Red....Nice and quiet, it was a Sunday though. Super close to the beach. Great value. Small complimentary breakfast, but not really set up for it anyways. Great dinner at "The Galley around the corner, 5 min walk away. Fresh authentic seafood caught near the rock.......
I was traveling on business, solo, but this was a very pleasant, well maintained, and courteous place to spend the night. Within walking distance of the pier and various eateries, I'm putting them on my list to go back to when I vacation on the Central Coast. Check-in was especially helpful. I was not expecting hot breakfast for a place with such a small lobby--very impressed. My only suggestion? Refill the soda machine with cherry Coke. Otherwise, a perfect business travel stay.
This is a typical Best Western with lots of room conveniences like a fridge, microwave, small coffee pot, and two luggage racks. It was very clean. We liked the bedside tables on both sides of the King bed. The room was a good size. There was plenty of parking even though there were no vacancies. The check-in was easy with a very friendly clerk. The location is a short walk to the harbor. Breakfast has plenty of options despite the small area it is served in: cereal, toast, yogurt with lots of choices for toppings, oatmeal, fruit cups, hot and cold drinks, a few pre-made hot foods. There was a table with chairs in the room, so it was most comfortable to take breakfast back to the room to eat.
For a fast and comfortable get a way this is a wonderful place to stay. Close to the beach front. Many places to eat within walking distance. Great breakfast place next door. Rooms are comfortable and staff is very helpful and friendly.
This is a hotel with potential. The location is excellent, within walking distance to the embarcadero with a lot of shops and places to eat. Also pretty close to several beaches. The room was ok and the hotel serves a good breakfast. There are limited places to sit and eat so you must bring your breakfast to your room. The hotel has a very nice deck/patio where it would have been very nice to eat breakfast or sit in the evening but there were only two chairs. With more furniture that would have been a very cozy place and wonderful view. I didn't like the envelope from cleaning staff about tip. For me cleaning should be included. The hotel itself needs a renovation to make the rooms more fresh. I see the potential in this hotel and hope they will be able to refresh it. Even so it was a good hotel so I would recommend it.
We ended up having to stay unexpectedly in the area and didn't have many choices. We were arriving late and leaving early, so we found this place for $200. The office closes at 10pm and there is no-one to help you after 10pm. They left our key under the mat and when we got to our room our door was open and anybody could walk-in. The rooms are open to the street and I never would have gone in was I alone. I saw the ratings and thought it would be ok. I was wrong. The room looked like it was from the 70's. The curtains had huge tears in them, the table in the room was propped up on a broken leg and almost fell on me when I put my purse on it. There was not one USB outlet in the room, The carpet was all tattered. Luckily we stayed in the room for less then six hours and left. I have stayed at many Best Western properties and never had an issue. This one is not worthy of being a Best Western.
Excellent location. Could walk to the main parts of Morro Bay. Kind respectful staff. Free breakfast—not that exciting, but free. Free parking. Small rooms. Clean comfortable beds. Just right for walking the town.
Perfectly fine stay. Perhaps my expectations were too high. Perhaps the photos flatter the place. The room was a little tatty, the bathroom was clean but tired, breakfast was disappointing. It felt poor value for money but based on other prices locally, perhaps it wasn't. Excellent location. The waterfront is a five-minute walk away, and there are plenty of eateries in Embarcadero.
Buffet breakfast and nice staffs in this hotel. And the restaurants are just down the street, very close and convenient. Only 5 minutes walk to the bay. Nice and well maintained room and up to date bathrooms
A very pleasant and comfortable stay in one of the most beautiful places in California. Easy access, and very close to the coast! The room was spacious, well appointed with excellent parking available.
Front desk staff is very friendly. Nice hotel, room a little outdated. Bed was uncomfortable and bathroom floor was dirty. The view from our room was great. Very quiet room.Probably would stay there again.
This is a classic motel that dates, I'm guessing, from the 1960's or before. Behind the retro exterior, however, BW has updated the rooms very nicely. The room was small, but perfect for my solo trip. I wasn't into the bagged grab & go breakfast, but fortunately there is a place called Carla's Diner right next door, which was very good. Good location!
No pool, no hot tub, limited parking, very plain Jane rooms, and $277 per night. On top of that the city charges $25 per night as room tax. If you need a short, thinly padded roll away bed that will be another $30 per night even though the manager had quoted $30 total for our two night stay. There was only three of us in the room and the total bill was nearly $680. I know, you ask why I didn't know this up front? Well, when making the reservation I asked for the total for two nights and the manager quoted the total for one night. We stayed on a Saturday and Sunday night. I only gave three stars because the room was very clean, everything worked, and the property is very close to the waterfront.
This is a very dated property, with close walking proximity to Morro Rock, restaurants and shops. The cost of more than $300 for one night for what was offered was disappointing, but could have been inflated due to graduation weekend? Carla's restaurant next door a little treasure, very friendly staff, food was good and reasonably priced.
This Best Western is in a wonderful location. Walking distance to the water, the Maritime Museum and more. The couple who own this place were very nice and accommodating. Our room was very nice, appeared to have been updated, and we enjoyed our stay there.
This is a great motel only two blocks from the Harbor district! I stayed there for two non-consecutive nights on my way up to Monterey. I found the motel to be safe and comfortable, and very affordable during the week. The breakfast is surprisingly good for the Covid era, and included in the room rate. BW Tradewinds was everything I needed! Highly recommended!
The rooms are small but very well kept. Close to the boardwalk with restaurants and shops within walkable distance. Friendly staff and well-stocked breakfast area, although restricted during COVID shutdowns. Nice cafe next door. Don't be the last car in at night! Parking is a bit tight.
Front staff was very friendly and informative. The room was clean, bath/shower kind of small, but for one night, it was just fine. Complimentary breakfast-packaged items to take back to your room. Parking was not problem. Had Microwave/Frig.
The staff made sure that there were lots of great options for all ages and food preferences. The entire set up was very sanitary and easy. As someone working in the healthcare industry and having this be the first family trip out in 18 months due to Covid, I was really pleased with how seriously BW is taking the pandemic and working to keep both guests and staff safe.
The Tradewinds Morrow Bay is within walking distance of the main attractions of Morrow Bay. Shopping, sight seeing, and great dinning. The hotel itself is older, but the staff is very helpful, the rooms are in working order, and did I mention LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION?
What a perfect spot to stay if you're spending some time in Morro Bay! Our room was very clean, had a microwave and fridge. Were were 1 block from the main vendor street so you could just hear the lulling of the waves, sooo relaxing. We hope to be back soon!
The hotel was clean, the staff was very accommodating, we felt safe. We were given the option of upstairs or downstairs. It was very quiet - no rowdy guests. Check in and check out were easy. The breakfast was easy under Covid restrictions- brown sacks were open and ready to fill with the breakfast items. I gave sleep quality a 4 rather than 5 because I prefer a softer mattress but my family all said they slept very good on the mattresses in our room.
Upon wanting to celebrate fun time of Halloween with family, opted for this location, based on proximity to Morro Rock & the brand. We have stayed with Best Western in the past & with good experience of place & staff. The room was ample, they were accommodating to have a second floor room, to the number of beds, to stating the updated covid19 morning breakfast safety measures, along with housekeeping safety measures, to obtaining vehicle license plate numbers for security. There is no laundry on premises, yet this was a very minor detail for us. The packets of coffee, complimentary soaps & shower cleansing dispensers were good features. Although the staff member spoke my room number to me & I was taken aback, when I looked behind me, there was no one else in the lobby, a relief. The price per night, reasonable. As we are familiar with the brand, which is certainly nationwide, we consider Best Western, including this location, a very good recommend. Note: We had called Best Western nation wide telephone number and received very good service.
Stayed here many times. Always clean and quiet. Within walking distance of restaurants and shops Staff always friendly and helpful.. Rooms always in good repair and spotless. Always make a point of staying here while in Morro Bay.
Best Western Tradewinds is the best place to getaway has tv blow-dryer and microwave and mini refrigerator and the rooms are always clean and the Receptionist at the front Desk is always helpful for places to go to have dinner or lunch and breakfast
For the small town of Morro Bay, this BW is a mere 2 blocks from the bay. No hotel big chain in town. There is a height limit on buildings not to exceed 2 stories. I'm guessing this discourages other hotel brands to move in. We had the 2 queen bed room. The rooms are small, the building looks a bit dated. The AC was a bit loud. The room was nicely equipped: microwave, frig, table with 2 chairs. Parking was free, WIFI strong.
We stayed here for 3 nights in August as part of our family road trip. My kids, 6 and 11 loved it here. My daughter said it was a nice hotel. Our room was nice and clean. The best part of the hotel is the location. It's around the corner of a great breakfast place and within a block or two of the Bay. It's within walking distance of restaurant, bakery and retailers on Morro Bay. My family hiked from the hotel to Morro rock. I wish they had Netflix in the TVs so we could access our account and watch the shows at night. But we had a great overall experience and plan to come back next time we visit.
We had a wonderful time when we stayed. TJ welcomed us and helped us get checked in quickly. With the pandemic going on we felt very comfortable. The room was very clean. This hotel is located near the eating area and shopping.
The room could not have been more clean. Our room was quiet, comfortable and cozy. Check in clerk was courteous and helpful. All amenities were in good working order and the room had a fresh décor. Loved the bath towels! Walking distance to Embarcadero and many local restaurants and not far from freeway access and strip malls. Hotel maintained co-vid health guidelines and sanitation. Be prepared that most social amenities and breakfast are not available at most hotels at this time. I would stay here again.
Front desk staff Mark I believe! Had fresh coffee ready serving guest . Also grab and go bag . Great service friendly caring attitude. Remembered at check in I had asked for flavored creamer and the front desk had it ready for me ! We were having a house built in Morro bay and tried staying in the San Marcos best western down the street Really bad service there, staff late to open office , no coffee etc . Regular fluffy pillows not on bed !
Traveling with twin 10 yr olds, it was important for us to find a decent space, clean, close to the beach and that serves breakfast. They advertise waffles, and healthy options. When we checked in, I asked about breakfast. The man at the counter said “Grab and go breakfast is at 7:30.” I walk to the office and the door is locked. There is a lady at the counter who sees us, a few moments later she unlocks the door and walks away. We let ourselves in and there are 5 paper bags sitting on the counter. There is a waffle maker but it's blocked by a board. There is a juice machine but no juice. The lady doesn't offer an explanation. I grab 4 bags and leave. In the bags are a nitro grain bar, fruit cup, danish and a bottle of water. This is not what I consider breakfast. They should be sharing this when you make a reservation and stop advertising “breakfast.”
On internet the room was listed at 81 a night plus taxes. Upon arrival I had to pay an additional amount for my 13 year daughter. Total cost of room was $143. In additional I had two doulble bed sleeping myself and my wife in one bed very uncomfortable,
The best place to stay in Morro Bay. The staff if wonderful and so welcoming. The location is perfect, you can walk anywhere from the Rock to the main street. The rooms are spacious and nicely appointed. Lots of restaurants nearby in a very friendly town.
We had a voucher for a free night and decided to use it here. It's an older property but clean and well maintained. The bed was comfortable and the room had all the usual amenities. The management was very friendly. They let us leave our car for a couple hours after we checked out so we could walk around the shops the next day. The location is perfect for walking down to shops and restaurants as long as you don't mind a bit of a climb up the street. Once we parked at the hotel we didn't need the car until we left town, which was a great convenience.
What a great place to stay, very clean property. Owners are very nice and friendly. Rooms are really really nice very clean.I highly recommend staying there. We will be back to stay here again. Thank you
Great hotel to stay in Morro Bay, close to the restaurants in Embarcadero. Really nice clean rooms with everything that is needed inside. The staff is super friendly and if you have any concerns or questions they would gladly help you with any problem. There is a great breakfast in the morning with fresh bread and more. It is just perfect to relax as a family or couple and have an amazing weekend or vacation.
Incredibly friendly staff!! I used my free night voucher and it was taken care of no problem. They went out of their way to help me during breakfast which was so sweet! The room had great value! Highly recommend this on any central coast road trip! It's very convenient to the highway.
In November, my athletic department secretary booked myself and two of my players in to the Morro Bay Best Western Tradewinds Motel. We have stayed there several times when we competed at the above golf championship. The accommodations are excellent, from management to the size of the room to the size of the beds. The continental breakfast is more than ample for what we needed. A very clean and updated motel. The current manager, Kala, was very accommodating, friendly and went out of her way to make sure my players (18 and 19 y/o) were happy. She was genuinely interested in the tournament and how the young ladies played each day. I highly recommend the Best Western Tradewinds in Morro Bay!!! Also, the motel is near downtown, the golf course, waterfront, and of course, the Morro Rock!! Easy and enjoyable walk to downtown, waterfront and The Rock! The museum was fun to visit and learn a bit more about Morro Bay!
This is the only place we stay in Morro Bay. It is clean and the staff are extremely friendly. When the hot tub is working, you have a great view of Morro Rock. You can walk down to the Embarcadero and don't have to drive to dinner, entertainment, or beach access.
This hotel is small and intimate. The managers were so attentive and helpful. It feels like a family run inn at this place. The rooms are clean and the Internet works well. We stayed in the center of the hotel, but I suspect the Internet is good in every room since it is a small hotel. I will stay here again the next time I am in Morro Bay.
Spa was broken, toilet would not flush, tub would not drain, and when asking for the waffle iron to be cleaned the manager blew spit on it and said it was ready to use! I have stayed at this Hotel several times before, but it has really gone down hill.
The room was clean and nice. We didn't hear other visitors through the wall, which is nice. The hotel is very close to Embarcadero Road and the Morro Bay rock! Great continental breakfast. Staff was very accommodating, helpful and nice! Highly recommend this hotel!
Kala and John were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. We stayed for 9 days and felt like family by the time we were a couple of days into it! I would definitely stay there again!
Convenient to shops and dining. Bed fine. Room clean as far as we could tell. Unfortunately, found that there was no body wash or shampoo for 10 pm showers. One tiny bar of soap. Had to find shampoo in town for my wife and me.The office was dark as a tomb. When I checked the office at 5 to 7 this am to get a coffee, it was still dark. Went to breakfast at Frankie and Lola's. I suggest you do the same. At its' best even with attentive staffing, this is an average motel. Would not return.
Kala, John, and the other employees are delightful, hard-working, and delightful. They are so hospitable that it felt quite homey. The hotel is small, and other than some noise when a bathtub faucet is turned on (before the shower stem is pulled up,) very quiet. It is very conveniently located to the waterfront, San Luis Obispo, Cambria, Hearst Castle, and even Pismo Beach. (Didn't go to nearby Paso Robles.)
We stayed one weekend at best western. The location was great for walking to the town. The staff where very kind and they made you feel welcome. The breakfast was ok but the dining area was very small. The beds where very hard as well as the pillows. It was very diffcult getting hot water right away.Best Western needs to upgrade this motel decor and the plumbing. I thought the prices where to expensive for such a motel on the weekends friday and saturday. What i liked most of all there where no pets allowed!
I was not impressed by this hotel. Rooms were very mediocre. Very small and compact. Not the cleanest. I would not stay here again. I would stay at the other BW in town. Food area was tiny and most was either out or cold by 7:30.
Our stay at the Best Western Tradewinds was perfect. Perfect location, close to the dock for fishing and a short walk to shops & dining. Our room was clean, we also had a great view from our room and on the patio deck. Staff was extremely courteous and very helpful.
Location was great.2 blocks from ocean. Room is a little bit small. Bed a little hard. Location made up for everything negative. Small breakfast area and limited selection. Staff was cordial. Ok stay.
This best Western has been remodeled. The bed was very comfortable. The manager was extremely gracious. We liked everything about the property. The only downside is that the “ breakfast“ Was limited to coffee, a cinnamon bun and some fresh fruit. Due to the area this is acceptable. However, it falls far short of many of the wonderful breakfast facilities at other Best Western properties. Please note that we would definitely return to this property when we return to this area.
The property was clean and the staff was great. Continental breakfast was more than we expected, and the price was better than others we had searched. We were visiting our son and his family who live nearby, but felt like we were staying with family at the Tradewinds!
My family of 3 had a great stay here! This was our first trip with our 11 month old and we have nothing but wonderful things to say about this Best Western. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and hospitable. The hotel itself is older but is well kept, clean, and tidy. Breakfast was included and delicious (especially the waffles). Location is perfect, walking distance to embarcadero and Morro Rock. Additionally, a short drive to Paso Robles, Hearst Castle, Elephant Sea Lions, Tide Pools, and multiple State Parks.
We never were in Morro Bay and was looking for a halfway stop over to spend the night. It was so lovely that we decided to stay another night . The hotel was very nice and the staff was so friendly and the motel was very clean .
friendly and great customer service. perfect location even if i was there for work, on my down time i enjoyed the senery. my next trip here will be for vacation. you feel so relaxed and confortable. hotel is in a great location too.
Convenient location, very clean, friendly and helpful reception staff. Light continental breakfast consisting of fresh fruit options and non greasy protein options (boiled eggs), coffeettea/hot chocolate, waffle making machine, cereal, etc..
This hotel is great. All the way down to the yummy cookies at night. The rooms are clean, roomy and quiet. They gave us a downstairs room since we where on a bike . We recommend this hotel. We plan on staying here more often.
Great place to stay, short distance from hotel to shops, dining and beach. Very clean unit. Has refrigerator, coffee pot, microwave, comfortable beds and pillows. I will definitely come back. The service was awesome. Nice continental breakfast.
An older property in a good location. Our room on the small side, but clean. Breakfast limited in a very small area. Near to restaurants and the Morro rock. In a bit of a residential area. At the desk you can ask about their recommendation of where to eat.
Good location, nice people. The room had a view but smelled like cigerettes. And would recommend they up grade the hot tub! The water was cloudy and very aweful smell. Also why open it at only 10am? When check out is 11:00?
A perfekt hotell. Close to restaurants and bay. We loved our stay at this hotell. Breakfest was all you needed. Great coffey for a swede. The staff was very helpful and very nice. I can strongly rekomend this hotell.
The room appeared clean. The bathroom was tiny and the toilet did not flush well. The location was perfect and the staff was friendly but the only area with a view was the spa which was out of order. The breakfast was limited and did not offer any protein options. The bed was of average comfort.
Very nice, clean, cozy rooms. Great location near restaurants for breakfest. Just a few steps from the water and great views of "the rock". Owners were very nice and helpful with directions. A great start to our ride up the coast. We would deffinatly stay here again
This is a typical old-style BW with small room layout and almost non-existent breakfast area. The owner takes good care of the properties so by no means relax in your clean room. I found everything functioning with no issue but the room is small including the bath area. The water pressure can be a little better but it is not a critical issue. The only real issue during my 2-night stay is the almost non-existent breakfast area. Although you can take the food and consume in your room, that is usually not a good option as you do recall I said the room is small. There is a small desk you can use but not comfortably. For its charge I would say it is an okay stay for weekdays but for the higher price over the weekend, there could be better option around that area.
We were very happy with our stay. Our room was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful. We look forward to another stay next time we are in the area. A great price for a location so close to the beach.
We were traveling on a 3 day trip along the central coast. We decided to stay in Morro Bay to be away from the 101 Freeway. This hotel is a 2 block walk to the docks. The room was clean and comfortable. It was also very quiet.
Hotel was nice, just had the 1 hicup with the fridge not working. Was very quiet, no noise problems. Hot tub area was nice and clean. We will stay there again during our next tip in the area. Loved the fact we got to stay in the room next to our friends.
This is our favorite place to stay. Location is perfect, easy walking to the Embarcadero and restaurants. Motel is well maintained and the staff is always friendly and helpful. We've tried other hotels in the area in the past but, this is our favorite and we will only stay here.
The staff here are very friendly and helpful. Had a great time and good sleep. They let us have a room that had a view to Morro Bay Rock. The morning wake up was met with the friendliest staff with a smile, a nice way to wake up too. Thank you
Very clean room with blow dryer mini refrigerator, microwave, tv, a/c ,ceiling fan honestly very nice i highly recommend best western tradewinds the staff is so sweet even the cleaning ladies thank you very much for your hard work
Do you want to stay in a place that's simple not that fancy but clean, safe and reasonably price? Di you want a place located in a relaxing environment? Do you want to have a good night sleep away from home in a safe environment? If your answer is yes, then this is the place you are looking for. Hotel staff are friendly and excellent in customer service.
The location is right in front of Morro Bay Rock with good restaurants right down the street within walking distance. The hotel is small but it did the trick. The staff was more than accommodating when we requested a change in our itinerary and reservation. The breakfast area is small.
I absolutely love Best Western Tradewinds in Morro Bay. I go to Morro Bay every year and always stay at this location. The people are great, the rooms are really nice and very clean. It's close to everything in town.
Reasonable price, clean, friendly staff and delicious breakfast, close to the Embarcadero, all made for a wonderful stay. Even the detailed of providing a clean remote control was impressive. Place was quiet . Bed was comfortable and lots of outlets to recharge our electronics.
The location is right by the ocean-if you walk down you will be surprised by an otter nursery- amazing! The owners/operators were all so sweet and accommodating... it really did make it hard to leave and go to work. Looks like there are a lot of fun thing coming up in the area.
No Pets allowed although advertise as pet friendly. Everything about it was good except the price. It looks like it may have been a Motel 6 tiype place in the past but they have it decorated and upgraded well and very clean and it's quite close to the Bay
This Best Western is convenient to CA-1, but there may be better more reasonably priced units around. Room was a bit crowded for moving around. Continental breakfast kind of stingy. very little choice and very little space.
An older property nicely modernized. Very friendly and helpful staff. Close to the harbour with many restaurant choices. Beds were comfortable. Our room was in a back corner on the lower floor and was quite dark. Ask for an upstairs room.
Excellent place to stay. This is a very nice place to stay. We plan to return when we go back to Morro Bay. The motel was in walking distance to the embarcadero and all the shops and restaurants on the wharf. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Nice and clean and in a great location for walking around the little town. The staff were very friendly! The breakfast room was clean and well appointed. Clean rooms and amazing beds. We actually looked them up to purchase one for home as we slept so well!
The staff was wonderful, rooms well appointed, and quiet. One block from the water. Bed was comfortable. Had a bathtub, which was big bonus for the wife. A great breakfast spot is right next door. Plenty parking.
We have stayed at the Tradewinds on many occasions now. We are always impressed at how friendly the staff are here. The planter boxes are well kept and have cute little ceramic animals. There is a pretty decent view of The Rock from the hot tub. There is a bit of a downhill slope to walk to the Embarcadero where great food awaits.
Very good place. Great location. Owners are very kind and helpful. Rooms are very clean. All you want for breakfast is available. Restaurants in walking distance, also the waterfront with shops. Morro Rock around the corner.
Very clean, comfortable hotel. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Highly recommend. Friends and I taking drive to Carmel and back. Friendly hotel and staff. Continental breakfast a good selection.
This place is great. If you are looking for upscale pampering, this isn't for you. But if you are traveling with teen boys, then this is where you want to stay. The room was clean. The staff was friendly. The breakfast was adequate. And it is an excellent value and location. The boys could get up early and ride their scooters straight to the state beach. It's central to everything downtown, including the surf shop, The Coffee Pot restaurant, and, of course, Morro Beach State Park. Bonus: if you like succulents, you need to stop in, meet the owner, and have her help you identify all the unusual species she has planted.
This is a small motel but in a good location near to everything. I made a reservation thru Welk's and got a good rate and called the Motel and asked for a ground floor room and was told no problem. When I checked in I asked about the ground floor room the manager was behind the desk and said She was the person I had spoken to and said it was all taken care of . The room was on the ground floor about three rooms away from the office and I was more than pleased with the room. I can't say enough about how great the manager was, very good dealing with the customers. About the room it was a good size and the furniture seemed fairly new and room looked as if it had been painted recently even had crown molding. The room was very clean the bed slept very well, the bath room was a bit small but adequate great towels, there was a micro wave and small refrigerator, a nice sized flat screed T V ironing, board, a nice hair dryer the room had every thing you needed for a good stay. The continental breakfast had every thing but meat but had the usual Danish cereal juice yogurt fresh fruit and more,it was held in the lobby a bit tight but neat and clean. Bottom line is that I will make it point to stay here next time in Morro bay.
one block from the water, close to embarcadaro shops and restaurants, Morro Bay is delightful.Go sight seeing many opportunities within 30-45 min drive, Go North of Morro Bay to see the Elephant Seals, Hearst Castle, Cayucos Pier, San Simeon Pier, Cambria, Moonstone Beach. Go South of Morro Bay to Pismo see the Monarch Grove Butterflies, visit shops by the Pier or walk on the Pier, or visit Avila Beach, Shops and Avila Farms.Great just to sit and relax by the water, Morro Bay is our favorite getaway location.
A short walk down to the bay to see these views. The hotel is small and basic but it definitely meets all your needs. The beds were comfy, the room very clean and our stay was flawless. The breakfast was small but certainly adequate. We will definitely recommend this hotel.
Can't say enough about this place. Drove through and stayed over for the night. Sandy and her husband are wonderful, thoughtful, and made the experience a true gem. They opened the spa for us in the rain, noticed we were in need of extra towels—brought them to us just as I realized it myself, and made sure I didn't forget my jacket from our room. Wish them the best and will definitely remember this stop for a long time to come. Wonderful.
On our long drive back to Southern California, we decided to stay two nights in Morro Bay to break it up. The hotel is conveniently located near the Embarcadero, where many shops and restaurants can be found.
Our visit was unspectacular, but very adequate. I did have a concern that we couldn't get a ground floor room (all the queen size beds were on the second floor). The Continental breakfast was acceptable, but did not offer many pastries or muffins. The rooms were comfortable and the beds were soft and inviting. The front desk individual was knowledgeable about local places to eat and information about Morro Rock
Have stayed at this location on several occasions. Always make it a nice layover on our trips. The owners and staff go out of their way to make sure you have an enjoyable visit. A bonus is that Carla's Country Kitchen is next door for excellent breakfast and lunches.
This Best Western was a pleasant surprise- an older hotel, but very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was above average and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!
We had a FABULOUS stay at Morro Bay BW. The staff was friendly and professional. The room was very clean and nice looking. The bed was perfectly comfy. We will definitely stay again, and soon. A great trip!
We picked the hotel because of time and thought that was a good stopping point. It was clean and walking distance to restaurants. The staff was so friendly and the continental breakfast was great. This little town certainly had an Canadian east coast feel to us. Would go back anytime we are in the area again.
This Best Western property is mid range and somewhat dated. I would call it 3 star just. The rooms are small and motel like, that is vehicles are literally at your door. The staff is courteous and helpful. The room was clean. And the WiFi service good. A modest cold breakfast was offered.
hotel was in great shape, small place but clean we picked this hotel because of it's pet policy. we were tired of sleeping in rooms that had pets in previously. this place was clean close to restuarants and shopping as well
The exterior looks like an average motel but the room was quite upscale. The bed, linens and bathroom were high quality and very comfortable. They offer the usual Best Western breakfast which offers a variety of options, hot or cold. The breakfast area is very small but they do offer trays if you want to take your breakfast to your room. The front desk staff were all very pleasant and friendly. The proximity of the hotel to the many restaurants along the Embarcadero makes it a very convenient location.
Two things I require in a hotel room are clean and a comfortable bed. This hotel met both of these expectations. I usually bring my own pillows in case I don't like the pillows. But I loved the pillows and didn't have to use mine. The property is very clean and well kept. I even saw the manager sweeping the parking lot in the morning. I was a little disappointed that breakfast didn't start before 7:30 but they lady who checked us in offered to put together a “to go” bag for us. It contained yogurt, sweet roll, and a banana. The coffee in the room was pretty good. We have stayed here before and we will come back because it's clean the beds are comfortable and it's very close to the Embarkadero.
BW Tradewinds is conveniently located, very clean, with nicely appointed rooms of the basic Best Western style. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Continental breakfast was basic but everything was fresh (waffles, cereals, breads and muffins, fresh fruit, hard-boiled eggs, etc). It's not a "resort" type of place -- no gym, no conference room, no swimming pool -- just a small, classic, comfortable, and quiet place to sleep after a day exploring the central coast. It's our first choice when visiting the region.
We made an unexpected last minute stop and we got the last room. We were pleasantly surprised by the staff and location. Room was clean and had a view of Morro Rock. Would recommend to family and friends.
Our requirements are clean, quiet and comfortable. We do NOT use spas, gyms etc since we want to experience the area and environment, not the hotel. I am a wildlife photographer so factor that in. The continental breakfast was typical but tasty and filling. The location, away from the hysteria of tourist traffic downtown yet close enough for visit to Fisheman's Wharf etc. was perfect.
Best location ,park the car and 5 min. walk to the waterfront. Parking in high season can really be a hassle.Great eating places and great shopping options are all in walking distance. Also there is an incredible kids park and playground right on the waters edge.
The location is great, the staff was personable and accommodating but the room was lacking a deep cleaning. There was stains on the chairs and the air conditioning had a strange order when we ran it. Not an ideal room for 2 little kids.
Morro Bay is a relaxing vacation spot. Many family activities available. Fine dining and wine country close by. Best Western offers fine Hotels to stay in in the central coaste region. Sunsets are beautiful and the air is fresh and clean.
The rooms are comfortable and have air con. The location is great. A few minutes walk from the main beach front and really close to some great fish restaurants. The continental breakfast is very good. The eating area is small but they are happy for you to take the food back to your room. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble.
This is one of the best hotels we have stayed at on our trip! Room was very clean! The shower was flat to the floor so no step in or out! Awesome! The staff made you feel like family! I will stay here again! Loved it!!
It was a good stay the staff here where very nice. Great location in Morro Bay lots to do and see not far from Hearst Castle and San Luis Obispo ! This location has a nice Jacuzzi right off the bay too Morro Bay is a coastal city in California. It's known for Morro Rock, an ancient volcanic mound at the end of Morro Rock Beach. The rock sits within Morro Bay State Park, home to lagoons, trails and a bird-rich saltwater marsh. Morro Bay State Park's Museum of Natural History features exhibits on ecology and local Native American culture. Trails lead up Black Hill for views over the city and Morro Bay.
We were here graduation week-end. While full, service remained top notch! The people at the desk were very pleasant and helpful. I enjoyed chatting with them as they recommended some activities prior to graduation. The continental breakfast opens at 7:30 but I thought it was 6:30. I went down to get coffee and one of the owners/managers was kind enough to unlock the door and let me get coffee, even though it was early. Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable. No complaints at all!
enjoyed very much.checked in late,no problem.hotel is near beach whic is very convenient.took a walk to the beach.everything is nearby that is very convenient.we will go back there again.we will recommend this hotel to our friends.
We stayed at the Best Western Tradewinds in Morro Bay and had a great time. The room was ready when we arrived and the person at the reception desk was very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was filling, allowing us to start our day nice and early.
Hotel location (quiet and right around the corner from a great restaurant for breakfast ...If you don't want the continental freebie), and staff that are all VERY nice, all make up for the old school small bathroom. Walk down the hill 2 blocks and you're in restaurant and shopping areas...and beautiful view of the incredible rock. Beds were comfortable, TV was good, and parking (as others said) is right there within 50 feet. We'd absolutely return here.
This was my wife and I first experience staying in a hotel in Morro Bay. We normally do a day trip or camp out at the morro dunes. Room was extra large, friendly staff and slept well. We will definitely be staying here again.
The Morro Bay area is perfect for a seaside experience. This Best Western appeared new as it was so well kept. We had an excellent view of the harbor from our room and were within walking distance of several excellent restuarants. The staff, both ladies at desk the afternoon we came in and Sandy the next morning were extra helpful.
I like the area where this motel is located. It is rather funcky with lots of traditional small motels. This hotel is crammed in a small location with very steep stairs and a small parking lot. When we checked in the receptionist was friendly. She asked us if we did not want to upgrade to a "view" room for $25. Fortunately, my wife asked to check the "view" which was not all that great. Considering you are two blocks from the embarcadero, no need to get a "view" if you plan to get out and walk around. Next the receptionist told us about a restaurant for breakfast saying all they had was a continental breakfast. And she said if we did eat there we could get our food on a tray and take it back to our room. The lobby is very small and only holds four small tables. Despite being no more than a traditional small motel, it was well maintained. Guests were reasonably quiet while we were there. A car alarm went off several times and was quite audible, but fortunately did not continue into the night. Best thing about this motel is the close proximity to the embacadero with great food and wonerful wildlife.
My wife and I were looking for a quick get away to the coast with some friends. We found the Tradewinds to be clean, comfortable, and well located. We were in easy walking distance to the Embarcadero and many nice restaurants. The free breakfast provided an adequate start to each day. The best thing about this motel is the staff. They were eager to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We would definitely stay again. The only reason I didn't mark it Excellent is because some of the rooms are rather small and are without any kind of view.
A very comfortable, quiet and very clean hotel, with all the amenities one would wish for - excellent wi-fi, a good and varied breakfast, good coffee and welcoming owners. We didn't try out the jacuzzi but made good use of the sun deck beside it. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from lots of restaurants and shops. There is even a Country Kitchen adjacent to the hotel if you feel peckish - the food there is very good. It was very easy to find from 101. We would definitely recommend this BW. Our stay was only 4 nights - wish we could have stayed longer. Also loved all the window boxes and planters, which made it seem so much more homely.
We stayed for one night, 2 adults, 2 kids. Room was clean, area was quiet, bed was comfortable and close to the Embarcadero. Only negative is that it is a small room (and we didn't have any conditioner in our room) but we'd stay here again.
A comfortable very convenient visit to the Bay. Felt right at home with a very good breakfast and great service . Never had to start the car until departure time. The right amount of exercise while shopping, eating, sightseeing, and listening to music.
Nice older but updated motel. Very clean and comfortable. Wish we had been able to stay longer so as to enjoy the local scene. Would have had a perfect stay other than, our room was common wall to the office where just on the other side is the furnace/boiler or something. Starting around midnight the sound of pipes popping as they warmed and cooled was so loud, I got no sleep. I mean NONE!! When I informed the front desk, yes they apologized but absolutely no compensation was offered. Only the explanation of it being an older building. How unsatisfactory! Beware of this room!
My starter was kind enough to lead to old friends traveling together to this spot. Sandy and Danny are charming hosts and attended immediately to any request we had. It was clean and quiet, a block from Morro Rock and the Embarcadero. We also enjoyed good coffee and the continental breakfast. It was such a pleasant experience and location, we decided to stay two nights. Although we did not utilize it, there's a rooftop spa that would be nice under the stars.
Nice and clean accommodations. Close to Embarcadero where you can eat, drink and shop! Staff at hotel was very nice! Price was great, too! They do not have suites, but they do have rooms with pass-through doors.
Stayed a couple of nites in Morro Bay on a driving holiday from London, England. We were charmed by this lovely town and were very pleased we chose this Best Western to stay in. Sandy and her husband on reception were very welcoming and friendly. Rooms were clean, a little on the small side by the time all the cases were brought inside but well equipped with good Wi-fi, microwave and coffee machine. Breakfast was simple but nice with do-it-yourself fresh waffles and tasty breads, pastries and muffins, yoghurt and fruit, coffee and juice. Just a short walk to the harbour and a good choice of restaurants (most were fish-focussed being by the sea). A lovely, if short stay. Thank you.
Kala Patel told me that she is the manager at BW Tradewinds in Morro Bay and her decision is final. She also told me that if I did not want to have any problems (i.e. refusing to refund a charge for a room after a 48 hour cancellation) we should only make our reservation directly with the hotel". She said.."companies like Expedia are only interested in collecting their commission so we won't reverse the charge..we hold the room even though the reservation is cancelled because if we refuse to cancel because our policy is 72 hours (even though most hotels are 24 hours) the customer might shows up if they know we won't give them a refund." Geovany at Expedia was offended by her comments and did the right thing. He refunded our money even though BW refused to refund Expedia their money. I called BW customer service and they stated that in all things, they side with their managers over companies like Expedia.
This is the perfect place to stay as it is a short walk to shopping and restaurants. The room while on the small side was perfect for the two of us. It was clean upon arrival and housekeeping did an excellent job while we were out and about. We are members of BW Rewards and the stay was complimentary but shouldn't (and didn't seem to) matter as arrival and departure were equally pleasant experiences. The breakfast was a nice treat to start our day - not too much but fresh and good. I was pleasantly surprised that the room has as many TV channels as we have in our house. Tall people will love the shower. :)
This is a great place and good value! Denny and Sandy are wonderful hosts! They are always very attentive to our needs. The breakfast was great. My kids really love the waffles! The rooms are always clean.
Nice little place to stay in Morro Bay. Of course being a member of BW Rewards, our stay was "complimentary". The room was small but adequate; refrigerator and microwave was a nice feature. No parking fees; location was acceptable although if you wanted to hit the "downtown spots" it would take a walk. All said, our stay was comfortable.
The managers of this hotel were extremely friendly and helpful during our stay. It is a short 2 block walk to the waterfront with many shops, restaurants and picture taking opportunities right there. The room was very comfortable with a recently remodeled look.
Staff were very friendly and helpful in giving us some dining ideas. Although the breakfast area is small, there was a large assortment of items to eat. VERY close to the pier; you could walk! We would stay here again.
I would stay here again. It's in a great location; walking distance to shopping, food, and pier. We walked down the street to the Pier and saw sea otters (one with a baby) playing in the water. Sandy was very helpful and friendly and even provided tips for our "road trip". Breakfast was nice; even provided make your own waffles which were very good. Hotel is clean, safe and reasonably priced. I would stay here again and hope to come back in the future to see more of Morro Bay.
We have stayed in this area many times. We enjoy the Best Western commitment of quality for their travelers. We will definitely come back again. The restaurants and golf course are close by and enjoyed walking to dinner each night.
The Tradewinds was a lovey place to stay with the most pleasant and helpful management you could ask for! All rooms were filled during our stay, yet we had the quietest nights sleep we've had in a motel.
Nice place to stop on our way up the California coast. Owners/operators were very friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Made an extra effort to get our room early ready and were helpful in answering our questions about the area. Stayed in a Queen room, and while it was a little bit tight, it was more than adequate for an overnight stay. Room had a small table & 2 chairs, good lighting, tub/shower combo and small vanity area. Also had a coffee maker, microwave and dorm sized refrigerator. Everything needed plus more.
We were very happy with our 15 day stay at this Best Western. The staff was wonderful...each person, especially the managers took great care to make us feel comfortable and happy. We had left SB due to smoke from the Thomas fire. Overall a wonderful place with kind people good breakfasts.
Highly recommend this BW location. All around, staff, room, location, value, could not ask for more. It was an excellent stay. I was with friends on a extended weekend trip to see the area and travel up to Hearst Castle. This BW location was an excellent find - I will be back!
Overcharged and not compensated for extending our stay. Appearance of outside of hotel is nice. Location is nice. Breakfast area is extereme small and options of food where very limited. Do not recommend this place. Other near by lodging is better that the Tradewinds and are the same price.
Excellent value accommodations; good continental breakfasts, ideal location near the Morro Bay Embarcadero. Near all of Morro Bay proper for shopping and browsing, plus near to Los Osos and Montana de Oro State Park.
I like this little hotel in Morro Bay. It is well- maintained, very clean, and I got a great night sleep and everything I needed after 13-hour flight and 5- hour drive from LA in heavy traffic with gusty winds. The bed is so comfortable, and there is a microwave, refrigerator and coffeemaker in room. They have complimentary cookies at check-in and good complimentary breakfast - waffles, yogurt, eggs, cereals, milk, juice, jam and jelly, syrups, fresh fruits, muffins and pastries, teas and coffees. Special thanks to Sandy - she is wonderful!
Everything good does not remain good forever. This was probably my 6/7th stay in various places in best western across US. On our way to LA, me and my family stayed for a night here. After we checked in my wife went to adjust the AC beside the window. She slipped a bit and her hand rested on window glass. Because of sudden impact glass broke. I told reception before I left. Reception told, it was okay I cloud go. Few hours later on my the way to LA, I got a call from owner that I have to pay for the damage. I explained that, it was not our fault. I didn't want spoil my trip and agreed to pay if the amount was small. Today, I got a call that I need to pay around 140$. I have paid the amount. It is a small amount so I never argued and there was never a bad feelings. Owner was also very nice to me and infact thanked GOD, that only glass broke nothing happened to my wife. It was kind of sweet slap :) I am also trying to be professional and just sharing my experience. No hard feelings. Probably it was my last stay in Best Western.
Excellent experience! Very clean rooms! Friendly and informative staff! The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Bathroom was immaculate! The breakfast spread was plentiful: coffee, teas, cereals juice, milk, toast, jam & jelly, waffles, syrup, english muffins, oatmeal, pastries, muffins, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, fresh fruits!
The managers, Danny and Sandi, were very accommodating in making our stay enjoyable! They opened up the lobby early so that we could get breakfast before we took off for the golf course. We (six of us) were there for a collegiate tournament and had early starting times. Sandi gave us snacks for the event. When our rooms were not available upon arrival, she found a room for the girls to change into their outfits and relax for a few minutes.
As always a perfect stay. Comfortable and our room was clean, and cozy. We always stay here when in the area. We will be back. The staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast is small but just enough to get you going for the day.
This hotel is a great value. Located very close to the waterfront. Friendly, helpful staff. No view from my room but it was clean and comfy. Great water pressure (important for someone with a lot of hair).
Stayed one night at this location. The room was fine. Clean and comfortable. Water pressure was great. Convenient location. Close to the waterfront. The best thing about this place was the friendly gal at the front desk. From taking my reservation, check in, breakfast, to check out, she was there to take care of everything. Thank you so much for making our stay so pleasant.
Easy, quick check in with the help of the very courteous front desk staff. Room was adequate and was definitely clean. Good location, close to attractions in Morro Bay. The only reason I can't give an 'Excellent' rating is because the breakfast area is very small--about 5 tables. They do have trays available for you to take your breakfast back to your room, but I would prefer a larger breakfast area.
Picked this property for a two-night getaway with hubby due to its location, which is perfect. Just a few blocks to the waterfront where there are lots of restaurants and shops and of course Morro Rock! Although a bit small, our corner room was very nice, clean, and functional. Breakfast items were fresh and plentiful and staff was very helpful with recommendations. The road is a bit busy but quiets down at night.
We were in the area for a four day birthday weekend for a 60th celebration. I'm terrible with names but I believe it was Sandy and Daniel who took care of us most often. They were fantastic and made us feel very at home. The rooms were super clean and well appointed. The location is perfectly in the middle of all Morro Bay action. We ate and shopped and walked and ate some more. We had coffee at the hotel but ventured out for a sit down service meal for breakfast nearby. This is a very fine beach hotel with decent pricing for the area and for what you get. I recommend this hotel to savvy travelers.
Best of Best Western! keep up the Standard! Location is the best for Morro Bay area for fun and Family time.. Central to all activities. walking, Hiking. Biking, Kayaking. Shopping and Dinning is great also.
Clean, comfortable rooms in Morro Bay. All the staff were pleasant and helpful. DirecTV service was excellent. Furnishings were nicely kept and appropriate. Neighbors were quiet. Room was clean and ready. Checkin and checkout were pleasant and easy.
This was a mother, daughter weekend and we really enjoyed this hotel. The people were so friendly and helpful. The room appeared to be recently upgraded or just very well maintained. It was a smallish room but still very comfortable and super clean.
Better stay that at a hotel that costs 3 times as much. The room was clean, the bed comfy and the bathroom fitted with very nice granite. The staff was professional and helpful and the breakfast very good. Would stay again.
Great property right in the heart of Morro Bay! The hotel has very clean rooms which were comfortable. All of the hotels and motels in the area are small properties. You will not find a resort here, so this property was one of our favorite downtown hotels we have stayed at. We travel often to Morro Bay and Cayucos and we really enjoyed being at the Tradewinds. The owner, Sandy, is wonderful. She truly cares about her guests comfort and well-being. She is so sweet!
I did some price shopping prior to staying at Best Western Tradewinds and found their pricing to be one of the best. Then when we arrived, I was very pleased on the quality of the room, its cleanliness and the amenities. Also the staff were very friendly and welcoming.
We were here for one night while driving from San Francisco to San Diego. The woman on duty was very welcoming, personable and pleasant. She even provided a bottle opener for us to borrow. The motel is in a good location although the town is not big. The rooms are average size, no problems at all with our room. I was able to use the hot tub and that was very refreshing. Breakfast in the morning was pretty good and had the normal variety of hot and cold items. We would stay here again if we ever came back to Morro Bay or the vicinity.
Nice, friendly, very clean place to stay with exceptional staff!! They were willing to help with anything day or night. I would recommend to anyone for business or personal stays. Small, very comfortable with a great location and walking distance to the main strip
Nice motel in a great spot. Walking distance to lots of cool stuff. VERY friendly staff. Rooms recently redone and very nice. Owners are very nice too Could walk to see the Rock and to the beach and to many local places to eat.
room not ready, however, the woman at the check in desk was trying to be very accommodating while the manager was almost rude. Room clean but very overwhelming room freshner. Had to leave windows open for our to get rid of smell.
We only needed a room for one night after planning a last-minute Central Coast trip as a weekend getaway. Overwhelmed with the number of hotels in the area we settled on Morro Bay as a good jumping off point and picked the Best Western Tradewinds because the location seemed good and the reviews were positive. We weren't disappointed at all. It's a fairly standard hotel/motel as far as room and amenities go. Nice clean room with comfortable beds, continental breakfast, etc. Location is indeed excellent. We parked the car and walked the two short blocks down to the embarcadero for dinner and drinks and stumbled back a few hours later. In the morning we were greeted by that lovely view of Morro Rock as we pulled out of the Tradewinds driveway. But before leaving, we stopped into the lobby to avail ourselves of a light breakfast (lots of different things to choose from so everyone was happy) and while there we chatted with the couple who run the place. They are such kind and warm people - perfect for the hospitality business. They greeted everyone with a cheery 'good morning' when coming in and were happy to chat with us about where we were from and what we had planned - and to help us figure out the waffle maker. They're recent arrivals (September of '17) and still learning the area and the town, but when it comes to making guests feel welcome and comfortable, they're naturals. We had no issues with our stay but I have no doubt that if we did Sandy and her husband (whose name I didn't catch) would have done whatever was needed to make it right. Sandy recommended that in the future I should just call the hotel directly to book my room and she'd make sure I got the best possible price. You may want to do the same. So like I said, lovely people, nice hotel, great spot. I'll stay there again next time I feel the need to take in some Central Coast beauty...something else I highly recommend.
Best Western Tradewinds in located one street back from the hub of the idyllic fishing village of Morro Bay. With restaurants, shops and live music a 'stones throw' away great views of the Rock, this is an ideal base for an idyllic get-away or stop-over. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the quality of the 'continental' breakfast is truly outstanding. In three months of travelling across th US, I rate this breakfast as the best, well above even the other cooked breakfasts. Morro Bay is surrounded by State Parks, surf and swimming beaches and amazing wildlife. I strongly recommend Best Western Trade Winds as a clean, comfortable and ideally located motel in a little bit of paradise!
I would like give this more stars. Staff was friendly, room was OK. However, we were charged $105 more than quoted in the reservation and the motel refused to refund the difference. We made reservations on the Best Western website itself (not a third party site). Total for stay was quoted as $749, including taxes and fees. This disclaimer was given that taxes were an estimate. Fine, if taxes and fees were $20 or so more than the quote, not a problem. But imagine our surprise, upon checking out, when taxes and fees were more than $100 what was quoted on their own website! Our final bill: $854. Management refused to make any adjustment. "The disclaimer was there" was their response. So if price is not a concern and you don't mind your bill being significantly higher than what you see on the Best Western website, sure stay here. Nothing wrong with the rooms. (Though I would question this place being worth almost $200 per night, when you add the surprise taxes.). But if you want to know what you are actually going pay for a room before you arrive, look elsewhere.)
Very nice hotel, and close to the embarcadero. Great staff that are very professional and helpful. They have done some recent renovations to the property. You're going to be within walking distance to the harbor with a nice selection of good seafood restaurants to choose from.
We have stayed at this Best Western twice now and both times have had an excellent experience. The staff are truly unbelievable. The rooms we have stayed in are spotless. The bed was very comfortable. The WiFi was excellent. Everything was is working order. We had a very pleasant and relaxing stay. The bay, restaurants and the Morro Bay rock are all within walking distance.
Every time we come to Morro bay we stay at this hotel because the management are very nice and courteous great people rooms are clean they have excellent beds and pillows I highly recommend this hotel
What a very nice place to stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable. Next door is a small cafe with great food and friendly people. I will be coming back soon to be delighted again.
Always clean and close to Embarcadero for an evening walk to see the sunset on Morro Rock. Fresh and well maintained breakfast items. If you want more choices, a breakfast restaurant is right next door. The managers are friendly and accomodating. In room refrigerator and microwave. Overhead ceiling fan and air conditioning. I have stayed here many times and have not yet been disappointed.
The front desk people were outstanding! Very friendly and helpful! Our room was very clean and our breakfast had the usual choices but it was well tended and fresh. We were able to walk into town and see the sunset on "the rock". Wifi worked well. There is no washer and dryer.
We always stay here, and are always welcomed. Also enjoy the fact that they have Air Conditioning. Is was warm on this trip. And made even better with the a/c. The managers are a great couple and made our stay even better.
OK hotel. Only steps to reach upper rooms and room 202 right next to hot tub. Very noisy at night so we ended up with the air conditioner on to help with noise. Very nice staff and OK breakfast. Easy walk to the water.
We decided to take a quick mini vacation to the Morro Bay area of the Calif. coast and booked two nights at the BW Tradewinds and what a very pleasant surprise it turned out to be. The staff was absolutely amazing and the rooms were spotlessly clean. For the price this hotel is one of the best values in the Morro Bay/Cayucos area. The hotel is a half block from all the restaurants and shops along the harbor. Our recommendation is a big two thumbs up on this great hotel.
Very helpful and polite staff that went out of their way to ensure our stay in Morro Bay was enjoyable. The hotel combined with very laid back Morro Bay was just what we needed after 4 weeks on the road in our 4000 mile trip.
We've stayed at this hotel twice. The staff is great, very polite and welcoming. I love their complimentary breakfast - there's something for everyone. My 4 1/2 year old daughter LOVED this hotel! I'm sure the beach being 2 blocks away had something to do it with, but she referred to the hotel room as the "beautiful house." I loved that there was a microwave and fridge in the room. I loved that the bathroom had a full tub, rather than a shower stall. Made bath time for my kiddo much easier. This place is very homey and the location is perfect. We've made a decision to stay here every summer now, so we'll be back. :)
We always stay at the Tradewinds and love the location, the owners, the staff, the clean rooms and exterior as well as lovely colorful plants around the hotel. When we call the owner, Kayla, always remembers us and tries to accommodate us with our "favorite" room when possible. The nightly cost varies, but it is always the best value in town. We never look anywhere else!
We stopped in Morro Bay and really enjoyed our stay. The Tradewinds is located one block away from the harbour and from some excellent restaurants. Staff were friendly and very helpful. The rooms were very nice and comfortable. Décor was up to date. Rooms had coffee makers in the rooms. Breakfast was included and was excellent! As we were travelling in summer, we anticipated higher room costs. The cost to stay is high in comparison to the room.
This being my second visit to morro bay I had a better idea of where to stay. I booked Best Western because it's a national chain and I was able to use mileage points to purchase a gift card. That being said the location was great the neighborhood was quiet we were very clise to morro rock and the embarcardo. The rooms were small and gave a cluster phobic feeling as the window faced the parking lot and the bathroom window (small) faced morro rock. The room was clean and staff friendly. Picture is view from bathroom
Quiet, hotel tucked away on far side of town. Excellent value for location and season. Staff always friendly. has hot tub. Walkable distance to embarcadero. Beds comfortable. Breakfast good value. Would visit again
Loved the location of this hotel. It is your basic hotel with no frills, but, being in this town you do not need such. The room had a small refrigerator and wifi. The bathroom was a good size and had all needed amenities. I wish the breakfast had been a bit healthier, but, I cannot complain. We were able to walk down to the embarcadero and along the main street easily.
Checked in this afternoon for a 2 night getaway with my husband. Very nice, small hotel. Rooms have a fresh coat of paint, oak door is new, carpet looks new (or very well cleaned ), mini fridge is about twice as large as you find in most hotels, and front desk staff was very helpful. Room has your usual ironing board and iron and hairdryer, king bed had 4 standard pillows. Water pressure is on the low side but considering California is encouraging water restriction, I understand. Breakfast area is very small, and as we have not had breakfast there yet I cannot comment on the selection or quality. Rooftop deck has a hot tub, no pool, and a couple of tables and several chairs. Is within walking distance to the shops and restaurants, which is a big plus for us. Would stay here again!
The rooms were small and that was ok because Morro Bay is my happy place. However, we slept with the windows open because the AC didn't work and the room stayed muggy. It was tough to sleep there. Breakfast in the morning...we went next door to Carla's. It was awesome.
We love Morro Bay during the summer, because we live in Bakersfield where the summer temperatures reach over a 100. We love to go to this coastal town because it is always cooler, probably by 30 degrees. This hotel is so close to the shops we love to park our car and just walk the whole town.
Good room, facilities, breakfast. No niggles at all. What made the place special was being able to sit in the hot tub and watch the sun go down, as well as easy access to the harbour and Morro Rock. Fascinating place. Loved it, would happily return, especially for the seals and otters.
We had a wonderful time on our family trip to Morro Bay. The staff was very helpful. We had trouble with the tv but staff came and helped us out. The breakfast was nice. The area is small but they had a good variety of choices. The last at the front desk was great with my little kids.
The hotel was extremely clean and the succulents planted everywhere were very nice. The spa and sitting area were very relaxing. The employees were all very helpful and accommodating. The breakfast was nice.
Great Hotel - Immaculate! The service was awesome, the rooms were so clean and the beds were heaven. The service staff made sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast was excellent. I will definitely make this my go to hotel when going back to Morro Bay.
On arrival windows were open in room and things appeared well. On closing windows for afternoon out the room smelled like a dirty rug on return and both of us began coughing. On opening windows to ventilate room wall A/C heater turned on which caused more coughing and sneezing because apparently filter in A/C is dirty. Air in room full of 'dust' particles. We stayed because we were busy outside the room and purchased Benadryl to stop the respiratory symptoms.
Great place to stay, rooms lovely & clean & well presented. Breakfast was a delight, a variety of foods to choose from & constantly restocked. Although a relatively small breakfast area, perfectly adequate, tidy & clean. It's location is great too, just a short stroll from Morro Bay Rock. Otters & seals can be easliy seen in the bay. So pleased my friends & I stayed here. No hesitation in giving this hotel/motel the 'Thumbs Up' !
This was the last stop in out 2 week western half of the US driving trip. we were to arrive around 11pm so I called in advance to let them know and the manager called me back and was going to leave the key under the mat. Very nice to do so we could go right to our room without disturbing them that late. The room was ok for a small motel. The bathroom was really small however. The breakfast selection was extremely limited in selection with no eggs, sausage, or even bacon. Only coffee, juice, fruits, danishes, and cereal.
We stayed here for a weekend 10k race along the beach. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. The location is wonderful for shopping and walks along the beach.
We had a great experience at this little hotel. It was walking distance to everything in town, including the boat we were working on. The rooms were nice and clean. And the staff were very helpful and accommodating.
Pulling into the parking lot of the Tradewinds Best Western, we could see it was a well kept place, and there sweeping in the parking lot was lady with a welcoming big smile. We were early and hoped we could get a room and the young lady at the desk suggested for a small upgrade fee, the view of the bay might be a nice choice. She brought us to the room to check it out. We saw a very well kept "tidy' hotel room and walking over to the window - WOW. There was the Morro Bay rock; we couldn't get much closer with the bay all around, the nice little town below. The bathroom was clean and the bed was comfortable, not one complaint. Checking out the next morning we were so thankful for a pleasant stay at the Tradewinds. I saw the lady with the big smile sweeping the parking lot was the owner - that just shows how they care about how their hotel looks for their guests.
The staff is very friendly! the young lady that checked us in was very friendly and helpful! I was a little disapointed in the "spa" it was VERY SMALL no room for more then 3 guest at a time! Needs work on that or they need a pool for the kiddos!!
this hotel is way better than san maros best western way more customer service and all around better service! so if your looking for cleanlyness and to be treeted well this ones the best place to go for right now:)
Every year I have a conference at San Luis Obispo. It is so nice to stay just a little bit away where it is cooler. This hotel is just one block from all of the seaside shops and restaurants. It is also easy to access the freeway to head south to SLO or Pismo, north to Cambria and San Simeon (Hearst Castle). The staff are always wonderful and it is reassuring to see the same happy and warm faces every year.
We've stayed at this hiotel several times in the past 10 years. Great location, superb cleanliness, and freindly staff keep us coming back. We're always recognized as repeat custemers upon check-in. This tells me the management is focussed on customer service not just filling a room for the night.
We were there on a Saturday night in June and the price was very high --over $200 with tax and it is just not that kind of property. It really is a funky motel in a good location but the place is really not very clean and the bathroom is substandard. The air conditioner did not hold the temperature and the circulation was poor. If you are out of options you could certainly do worse and hanging out in Morro Bay is terrific, but I would research other places before you commit.
WE went to Morro Bay for the first time. This is a wonderful motel among many places to stay. the room was clean, the service was excellent. The breakfast was wonderful. Checking in and checking out was easy. Overall, a great place to stay.
This Best Western is only 1 block from the bay, some of the rooms have a view of the rock and ocean. It was very clean, well maintained and updated. A great choice for Morro Bay and surrounding area. We were very pleased with our experience.
Our one night stay was wonderful. Rooms were clean and quiet, the staff were very friendly and polite, hot tub had a great view of Morro Rock, breakfast was quick and easy before we got back on the road. We even walked down to the beach to catch the sunset - great stay!
My family came to Morro Bay to scatter the ashes of our father. We were only staying for 1 night and needed a nice, comfortable place to stay to decompress after such an emotional event. This Best Western was perfect for our needs. The rooms were clean, quiet, and the staff was polite and responsive. The hotel is older so the walls are thicker and sound does not carry which was nice because we all slept in the next morning. We used the spa which was just the right temperature and had a lovely view of Morro Rock. The breakfast wasn't fancy, but better than many continental breakfasts and the coffee was fresh and hot. The only drawback is that they do not allow pets. The room was big and we had no issues with wi-fi or the tv - we enjoyed both. The hotel is about a block from Embarcadero, which is the main street facing the ocean. There are lots of shops and restaurants along this street. I would stay here again for sure!
This no tell Hotel needs some serious TLC. There are several others to choose from in the area, I would not stay again. It simply is a poor representation of the Best Western chain name. Dead bugs on sheets. Toilets didn't function properly. Carpets were gross.
The greeting we received and the attention to detail at this establishment were above the norm. I felt as if we were returning home or to a friend's house. Little things matter-a full freezer to refreeze our ice pack thus avoiding waste of water and ice. Two luggage wracks and a recycle bin in the room are among the details. Bkfst was excellent including organic raisin bread.
Clean and comfortable coffee making facilities, microwave and fridge. Comfortable bed and nice buffet breakfast. Near to restaurants and harbour. Excellent for an overnight stay while travelling around California.
i really wanted to rate this a 3.5, but will round up because of Kala. She was so welcoming, friendly and helpful. Spoke to her several times over our 2 night stay and she was always super sweet & asked how we were enjoying our stay. Location is good! Its about 2 blocks from the water. You can walk down to some restaurants, and see the Rock. You could also walk over to the Embarcadero area but thats a little further. We drove over and parked down there. Its easily accessible from the freeway. Parking lot is small, and some of the spots are narrow, but we always found a spot. As you leave the hotel and walk towards the water you can immediately see the rock - pretty cool! Room: We were upstairs in this weird little alcove thing - room 224. Our window faced out the back of the hotel, towards an industrial looking building. No elevator, so you need to lug all your stuff upstairs, which was not fun. The walls were very thin and we could really hear our neighbors. The water pressure was really low, took forever to get shampoo out. And A/C was noisy and the TV was blurry. OK, enough of negatives - on the plus side - the room was very clean. Everything was in working order. The bathroom had a tub/shower combo. Counter in bathroom was large enough to lay out toiletries, which was nice. The tv was on a piece of furniture which held the refrigerator. It was a good size frig - and kept our stuff very cold. The bed was a little soft for my liking, but it was comfy. Linens were clean and crisp. There was coffee in the room, which was nice. A lot of places we've stayed lately have removed the coffee makers. Amenities: wifi was good. There was a continental breakfast which we did not eat, but heard that others enjoyed it. There is a 2nd story spa, with a view of the rock. Very nice and relaxing. The spa area was clean. The water was hot and we really enjoyed it! All in all, this motel was a positive experience and we would stay there again. There were a few negatives, but the positives outweighed them!
Very nice and great location. It is easy to find, plenty of parking and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. It is a very easy walk to downtown and even to the Strand. It really is the perfect location if you can't get (or opt out) a place directly on the water.
Overall I was very happy with my experience at this hotel/location. It's walking distance to the cafes and restaurants. The room was clean and comfortable and the front desk woman was very friendly - she seemed to genuinely care if we were enjoying our stay. The continental breakfast was decent too. We used the hot tub and it had a nice view of Morro Rock.
Very nice hotel within walking distance to the seafront with many fine restaurants and tourist attractions. Courteous staff, clean rooms, nice breakfast, wifi in room and good parking. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone either on a business trip or on a vacation.
If you are traveling between Los Angeles and San Francisco for a little trip, consider booking a night at the BW Tradewinds in Morro Bay. Cute, clean and great service! Room was clean, parking on site, view of Morro Rock from the property and just an over all great experience. For those who surf, we would certainly consider stopping here for a day out in the water.
One of those hotels where the service elevated a quaint little hotel into a wonderful experience. I got back ten fold for what I paid. Thank you Martha and the rest of the staff for adding to our wonderful stay in Morro Bay!
Wonderful location, and staff who are a credit to the Best Western family. Glad I stayed here. From check in to answering questions about local restaurants, attrCtions, these folks really went out of their way to be of assistance. The room and lobby were cheerful and although an older facility, everything worked well, bed super comfy, a/c, fridge, wifi all were great. This is a nice, famoly oriented location.highly recommend!
It is beautiful little hotel located in heart of Morro Bay close to the waterfront. Great mom and pop restaurants within walking distance. The place is very well maintained offering clean, comfortable rooms at a competitive rate.
Everyone was very friendly and all went over and beyond to make my stay a pleasant one. Had a problem with the air conditioner and when I returned from a day of being out and about, they changed the air conditioner in the room for my confront. It was a great experience and I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Hotel is walking distance to the town with shops and restaurants.
Older, smaller facility, so rooms are a bit smaller, etc. But rooms have recently been renovated, so they are in fine shape, bed was very comfortable, and room was decorated nicely. Only drawback was the size of the breakfast room - could only seat 8 or so people. Location of the hotel was very convenient - could walk to the harbor in a couple of minutes. Overall, a very good value.
Spent 3 nights at this nice little hotel. Picked it for the location, and we weren't disappointed. Met or exceeded all of the Best Western standards that I could see. Clean room, great TV, shower, Wi-Fi, fridge and micro-wave. Plumbing seemed a bit noisy, and could hear people in other rooms. To be expected on a Friday night I guess. Breakfast was a bit sparse, but there are alternatives, yes within walking distance.
This Best Western is obviously an older hotel by outward design. However, the rooms have been meticulously redone and are both extremely comfortable and eye-appealing. Also, the room was incredibly quiet. Although the hotel was full by nightfall I heard nothing from other guests. I had a view of the bay from my room, and was able to open the window to enjoy the atmosphere and fresh air. It was a very restful visit.
Nice place, close to downtown, friendly staff, older facility but well kept with signs of fairly recent renovation done well, off any main street so fairly quiet, breakfast is minimalist which is ok as there are a couple of nearby places for breakfast that are good, would rate this as a value find.
Perfect place to stay in a convenient location. Room was very clean, WIFI worked great, and nice light breakfast included. You can walk to shops, restaurants, and the embarcadero easily. Farmers Market on Saturdays is just a few blocks away. Will definitely stay here again!
This isn't going to set the world on fire, but it is clean, tidy and well maintained - nice window boxes of flowers show some care and attention is given to the outside area as well. Stayed for one night passing though and it had everything I needed. Free wifi, a decent continental breakfast and a quiet location. Bonus is that it is a stones throw to a cracking restaurant - the American fish company...wasn't expecting that!
We decided to cut our Bass Lake stay short and headed here. Our room was not available as we arrived early. We headed to town and returned later. We only stayed one night and there was not a single thing wrong with our room. The staff was excellent! After returning home my son discovered he left his belt. I called 3 days later nd asked for Kayla to check their lost and found. She told me she found a belt in a pair of pants. She texted me a pic of the items as I requested. Once I told her it was his, she instructed me on how they take care of these things. Today I arrive home to belt nd pants on my doorstep. I just called yesterday!! Between Kayla and UPS I couldn't be happier.
Stayed 3 nights in March 2017 at Best Western Tradewinds. We have been customers there before. Excellent management and staff. Comfortable quiet room and amenities. Great view of Morro Bay and Rock. Short walk to the waterfront.
Arrived without reservations, but no problem. Smaller motel, and old, but nice. Got a room with a view of the Ocean (paid extra $25.). Clean rooms and easy to use wifi. Free breakfast included. Would stay there again.
When you opened the door you knew you were walking into a well maintained facility. Clean and the service was great. Would recommend to everyone. Will stay there again if we ever get back. Breakfast was great. Good Selection. Location was good. The city of morrow bay is a real great relaxing place to visit.
Small motel like. Also when went to spa like we do on other hotels, spa was filthy. Disgusting. When I went to Receptionist was unaware of any problems. Then Norman stepped in. He said he is not the owner, but it did look good. No foam when turn on. So don't know what I saw. I told him its scummy, murkey. Did you test the water. Not my job! Norman guess what guest safety is part of your job! When I went back they had scrubbed scum off. Gross. I asked if he would go in there. Doesn't use public pools. Therefore not his problem.
Stayed on the first floor, in room 204. Very clean & well kept room, with coffee facilities. Basic breakfast of cereal, waffles, toast etc. which suited us just fine. The staff were very helpful & couldn't do enough for us. Only stayed for the one night, but an ideal location for the beach (and the 'Gibraltaesque' rock) & the many restaurants along the front. A decent hotel (which we would go back to) in a lovely seaside town.
We stayed here for one night and were very kindly welcomed by the owner. The rooms were a little old fashioned but large and comfortable. All was clean and functional. The breakfast was simple but we felt welcome and liked it.
We booked the room after reading "scenic view". We assumed our room would have a window facing the bay. Nope! And found out the room had no heater, so had to ask for a blanket (none provided in the room). The clock was set to the wrong time. No cups by the sink--had to use a coffee cup. It is advertised to have service 24 hours a day, but when we checked out at 7am, the lobby was locked and no one was there. I would not return. There are too many loose ends.
We were in Morro Bay for a family event Saturday and Sunday night over Veterans Day weekend. We called from the road to see if we could check in an hour early and were told if we upgraded to a room with a view of the rock for an additional $25 a night a room would be ready. So we went for it. The motel is nothing fancy on the outside. But inside..The rooms have been upgraded. Very clean, comfortable. King size bed had good quality linens. The room came with free wifi that worked well, and lots of amenities. The motel jacuzzi was clean and the jets worked well. The complimentary continental breakfast was more than adequate. Since it was a holiday weekend, we did pay a premium rate. I posted a picture of our view for the extra $25 a night. Won't do that again. But I would stay here again.
We had just asked for a refund at the Creekside Inn, in Cambria Cal. And was just looking for some place to stay the night. Wish we could have spent some time there. This was the nicest staff, comfy bed, exceptionally clean room. We checked in late and were greeted like it was mid day. If your ever traveling through, stop in. The owner/manager said to call him direct and he would give a better price than you could get on line.
Only stayed one night. Hotel staff friendly, check in fine. Room was clean, a little on the small side, but had all the amenities associated with a Best Western. Parking free & OK. Shower fine. A few minutes walk from the harbour and bars/restaurants. All in all, an excellent stay.
When I booked a room here, I failed to note that this is a Best Western. Not a Best Western Plus. Not a Best Western Premiere. So what you get is a pretty basic motor inn with clean rooms, an okay bed, and not much more. No views. No elevators. No restaurant or bar. Their "breakfast room" seated a total of SIX people, which, along with the mediocre food offerings, left many guests going without or going down the street to a restaurant. My room was $200 (yes, it was a Saturday night) but I feel a little embarrassed for paying that much.
The staff is friendly and professional. The rooms are clean and well taken care of. The hotel is small but it offers a continental breakfast and a spa with a view of Moro Rock.. It's a short walk down to the Embarcadero to shops and restaurants.
The Best Western hotel was clean and comfortable. The room had been updated and looked very nice. While it was a bit small, that didn't affect our stay as we were not in our room except to sleep. Good location; in walking distance of several restaurants and the ocean. Would recommend as a good value.
This motel at Morro Bay is ideally situated just one street back from the beachfront. There is a free outdoor spa with a view of Morro Rock. The rooms were a good size with a table we put to good use playing board games and the breakfast was a breakfast bar arrangement in the reception area ( which had a yummy waffle maker ) . Many dining options are available within walking distance along the beachfront, and Morro Rock is handy walking distance too. Free parking. Free wifi. Good service. We thoroughly recommend this motel.
We checked in late at night after a terrible experience at another hotel in town where we ended up checking out within 10 minutes of checking in. The staff at this Best Western were very accommodating and quickly got us to the last available room. The room was clean and in good shape. The gentleman at the front desk also gave us great recommendations for restaurants in town. The stay also comes with a complementary continental breakfast including bread/bagels, pastries, cereal, yogurt, hard boiled eggs and even waffles. We would definitely recommend staying here!
this is a nice quaint little hotel it had nice rooms and a outdoor hot tub they offer continental breakfast but the lobby where you eat is on the small side only 3 table but they do offer trays if you want to eat in your room this hotel is one block of the embarkadero
You don't need a rambling property when staying in Morro Bay, just a great room. This property on the outside looks like the typical L-shaped two story property popular some time ago. However! The rooms have been beautifully upgraded, beds are very comfy, and I loved the color scheme chosen. Best part? Air conditioning! Not common in this town and I need my air at night, especially in humid weather. The parking is a bit funky but not a problem. The breakfast area is small but again not a problem - they have trays to take to your room if you prefer. You can easily walk to the Embarcadero from your room. I will definitely be back to this property as I visit Morro Bay several times a year.
Not really sure what to expect since some oceanside properties are aged and appeal to people based on location. Was I surprised when I checked in. Very pleasant, the property was clean and updated. The same can be said for the rooms, Nicely appointed, updated and comfortable. I was in town for a cycling event and the staff was very accommodating with leaving my car parked in lot for an extra hour. I will stay here next year.
Very nice facility and clean. Close to the bay. Can walk to good restaurants and shopping. Not far from Hearst Castle and the drive is easy. The manager is very helpful and friendly. This location is called the Tradewinds and is the best of the two locations in town.
This is a really good place to stay, Clean, comfortable and well taken care of. Its not a high end place but its not a high end price. Close to the Bay and restaurants has a nice Jacuzzi and a friendly staff. Somewhat limited parking but not a real challenge.
Located just a block away from the bay. We arrived late at night and when we woke up in the morning we opened the blinds and saw the Morro Rock right from our window. Conveniently located next to restaurants and a short walk to the bay. I highly recommend spending a night at Best Western Trade Winds. Well kept small property located in a very quaint town with excellent access. The manager at the front desk was very helpful in getting us settled after a long day of driving. Our room was quiet and a nice renovation. I'd stay there again.
After a long drive, when we arrived check in was smooth and very informative about the area and what was going on this weekend. It was avocado weekend near the beach. Overall, the staff was very nice and very attentive! Way to go FD and HSKP and everyone in between!
Enjoyed our stay at BW Tradewinds in Morro Bay. Norman was very cheery and helpful, he even gave us suggestions for restaurants. Kala is great too, she always makes you feel welcome and is eager to assist. We have stayed here many times, it is close to water, The Rock, shopping and restaurants.
We looked at many hotels in the area, this one stood out because though all hotels seemed expensive (over 200.00 a night) for the Holiday weekend, it had a great location and a jacuzzi spa. The room was small but the beds were very, very comfortable. The room was clean and the hotel was quiet at night (a big plus for us).
We had such a nice experience! Norman at the desk was so friendly and attentive. He went out of his way to make our stay pleasant. The room was clean and had a view of the Rock. Great location too, we were able to bike ride/walk to all activities. There were delicious cookies at the desk too. The hot tub was the crowing glory though - upstairs on a deck, outside - it was delightful and quiet. We will definitely stay here again.
My family and I decided to stay at this motel after spending the day at the beach. We had spent the night before in Paso and attended the fair/concert and to escape the heat we spent the Sunday & husband's birthday just relaxing. In the evening our daughter begged us to return to Paso and go back to the fair so we compromised and offered to stay in Morro and find a place with a spa to warm up. I read reviews and booked here for the spa. Check-in was wonderful, desk clerk very friendly. A tad pricey for what we got but it was high tourist season, so I was not surprised, we were given a better rate in person than online. Only negative was the spa. I would not plan on even attempting to get in. It is on the 2nd floor and obviously had a major leak, as you could see below. I honestly don't know what I was thinking offering my daughter a motel spa to begin with, the only spas I let her get in are the ones in luxury resorts in Hawaii. She was bummed but even at 7 could see why I wouldn't let her and realized it was dangerous. I'm not really a fan of Morro Bay (like my husband) as I find it too sleepy & gloomy but we had a nice 1 night stay in a clean room, walking distance to Embarcadero at this motel.
Quiet and Clean rooms with excellent service. Walking distance to dinner on the embarcadero. Room was very quiet and clean. Norman at the front desk was quite helpful and most pleasant. We will stay there again.
We were on our way down the PCH and needed a place for the night. The Tradewinds hit the mark. The rate was OK. Upon arrival the gentleman at the desk was super helpful. The room was nice and very clean. That was my major concern. Overall this hotel delivered what I needed a clean room for my family to spend the night after a long day on the road.
Stayed here August 8 thru 10, 2016. Great room very clean. Wonderful staff, and location was spot on, within walking distance to everything. We would definitely stay here again on our next get away to Morro Bay.
My boyfriend and I planned on having a regular room with king size bed, but when we got there were offered the king room with the view which we took! ROOM & SERVICE: it was an amazing view, and if you can upgrade I do suggest you do! Especially if you're looking for a romantic getaway. The room was overall clean and tighty. The service was great, always friendly, and they always stocked up on the cookies in the office! which of course my boyfriend and I took advantage of. Their breakfast was small, only having three tables where you can actually sit and eat, but they offer trays you can take back to your room which was really nice! They had waffles, pasteries, cereal and other small items. (no meat which made me a little sad!) They also had an amazing jacuzzi on the second floor where you can look at the rock and just watch the beautiful view. It was simply wonderful. LOCATION: you can walk right to the busy streets with amazing food and gifts!! Literally right down the road! We didn't use my car once while we were there.
The room was small but sufficient, it was clean and the well kept. The breakfast was very nice for the small size of the area they serve it. Overall, it's a good place to stop for one or two nights. Cambria is much nicer than Morro Bay.
A very wonderful, clean hotel. We had a pleasant experience. The staff was great and knowledgeable about things to see in the area. There's a very nice Vegan restaurant called the Shine Cafe which was just delicious!
We stayed here for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Morro Bay is a lovely small town and the motel is conveniently located to everything. Overall the motel is small which is nice and the rooms are beautifully new and redone. Contemporary and well appointed. Would stay here again!
Fine location close to the picturesque harbour. Very friendly welcome. Rooms fully ok. Unfortunately the breakfast room is so small that most of the customers will bring their breakfast back to their room.
The staff was very accommodating, from the cleaning crew getting us more in-room coffee packets to the front desk solving a pillow request, they were great. The hotel was within easy walking distance to the Embarcadero shops and restaurants. We will stay there again.
Great location, short walk to shops and restaurants and view of the rock. Very friendly staff. Nice continental breakfast in the morning. Newly decorated rooms. Stay here whenever I'm in town. Can't wait to visit again.
Very close to everything. Super clean and comfortable very friendly staff. Comfortable bed with very fresh sheets. Modern furniture with frigerator and microwave in room. Excellent view of morro rock and the bay but filtered by other buildings.
Out of all the BW hotels we stayed in this was one of the very best. From check in by Norman to the exceptionally comfortable beds, decor it would be one I would stay in again and again. You cannot do wrong by the BW Tradewinds
Booked this motel due to positive reviews and high rating. Terrible mistake, hard to believe this property is a Best Western brand. Small room with tiny bathroom, ants everywhere, linens are dirty. Price is extremely high. After complaining to front desk received 75$ credit, even after this credit room still costs 150$ which is way too much for what is offered. Will not stay again. Very hesitant to choose any Best Western now.
Typical tourist town but very friendly Hotel was great and handy to the downtown area and the Italian Restaurant which was excellent. Service was great, prices were right and they made you feel very comfortable.
plain hotel not a lot going on. but the room was clean with two queen beds. microwave and mini fridge. the tv had about 40 channels to search through. the hotel is located near fast food restaurants and near the morro rock can be seenfrom this hotel. overall this hotel is a place to rest your head. nothing special.
A very convenient location in a quiet part of town, with nice, well-equipped rooms and comfortable beds—all at a reasonable price. Plus a great breakfast! And the staff was uniformly pleasant as well as helpful. This motel enhanced my stay in Morro Bay.
We stopped one night at the Tradewinds hotel in Morro Bay. The room was very small. It was a close walk to everything. Park your car and walk. Good restaurants, bars, waterfront. Breakfast room was super small, it's in the lobby. Great waffles, other food fine. Friendly staff. Super clean room and bathroom, I can recommend it
excellent hotel and excellent location, within walking distance of all the great shops in Morro Bay on the embarcadero where you can also rent kayak's and etc. And the best weather! In July, when it's so hot everywhere else, Morro Bay is always perfect weather.
We booked this the night before wwith a ck in of 3:00 pm. When we arrived At about 2:30, i was told by the frt desk the rooms weren't ready because it was a busy day yesterday, and they would try to have it ready by 4:00-4:30. Not really a big deal because we were gonna go wslk around the embarcadaro, but I asked if ck in wasnt 3:00 And she told me it normally could be anywhere btween 3:00 and 10:00 pm Depending how busy its been. Just rubbed a little wrong but we went on our way, came bzck around 4:30 and it was ready. With that all said, the room was small but comfortable, clean and nicely furnished And decorated. Overall a good stay!
All was great! Staff was courteous and helpful. The entire place was clean and well kept. Beds were very comfortable. Location was away from City traffic and noise, Walked everywhere. We would stay there again anytime.
Ok for their rating, but they do not have wi-fi that is functional in any practical sense. It is close to the rock, far end of the embarcadero, seems to be a favorite stop for old guys on Harleys. Adequate place to stay on the way to somewhere else.
Stayed for a night on our drive up the coast between LA and SF. Really had a pleasant stay. It was very obvious that the owners have been investing time and money into the place as the 2 rooms we stayed in looked to be recently renovated. In fact, it appeared they were installing new mattresses in many rooms the day we visited. You can get a great view of Morro Rock from within a few yards of the hotel and the village is a short drive or walk if you prefer. Breakfast was available, and smelled great, but we were in quite a rush to our next activity for the day. Wish we had more time to stay and explore.
We enjoyed our stay at this conveniently-located hotel. Standard motel parking lot, with lovely planters full of unusual blooming plants. The room was clean with comfortable beds. The desk staff were efficient and friendly. Continental breakfast featured freshly baked pastries.
We usually stay at a different hotel but decided to stay here. The room was clean and location was great. Could see the rock and water out the shower window. Room was a little small and bathroom was really tight. Probably has a better view from upstairs rooms. It has a spa on the second floor also.
We were visiting a good friend in Morro Bay and this turned out to be a nice surprise. Room was clean, quiet and had a powerful shower. Was an upstairs room; no view, but amazing views right down the street. Walking easy to everything. Breakfast room tiny but typical fare to eat. Only complaint on that is it doesn't open until 7:30am and we are much earlier risers. Had we been traveling onward, would have eaten on the road. Also, free wifi but very slow. I've stayed at 2 other places in town, and this beats both.
Good place to stop off at on the way to LAX if you are coming down the Pacific Coast highway. It is near the coast and close to the small town making it very convenient. Hearst Castle is about 20 minutes up the road. There is actually quite a lot to do in the area, so is good for a long weekend break
Well located hotel for leisure travel. Rooms are clean and up to date with microwave and fridge. The staff are friendly and helpful with recommendations. It's a close walk to the embarcadero. Breakfast is continental and includes fresh waffles. They have a spa with a great view of Morrow rock. It's a little busy being by the main road, but quiet overall. wifi is good.
Enjoyed our stay. Great location to town. We were able to walk to Morro rock, restaurants, galleries and shopping from our location. Room was very clean and quiet. Continental breakfast good. Will return.
If you are looking for a small facility and close to everything in Morro Bay, well, this may fit the bill. Check in was simple! Our requested rollaway was already in the room which scored points for us as the previous places were not as prepared for our arrival. First floor room was perfect for one night. The AC unit is right by the bed which caused me to hurry under cover each time it came on. Sink is outside the shower allowing us to get ready faster! Three teens and two adults can take forever otherwise! Breakfast was nothing remarkable, typical hotel style with some sort of eggs and waffles. No meat today and hard boiled eggs. The gentleman in charge was annoying at best, following guests from item to item, making sure we did it his way. I suspect a little OCD going on there. Chairs were fixed continually so they were straight and pushed in. The area was clean so I will give him points for that but stop making people uncomfortable.
My daughter & I (from Texas) were visiting family in Morro Bay. We spent 3 very comfortable and quiet nights: May 17, 18 &19, 2016 in separate rooms at the Best Western Tradewinds. Cannot say enough good about the service and cleanliness of this motel. Bed & linens were awesome and towels were large and fluffy. Room had free wifi, cable TV, fridge, microwave and coffee set-up. Coin operated washer & dryer available on premises. Lots of free parking. Reception area had a very sm breakfast area but offerings were fresh and adequate. Only downside is there is no elevator and stairs are a bit steep, but we had super help with our luggage from Asst Mgr Bob Kala, who went out of his way to be accommodating. This is not a fancy place, more utilaterian, but it is extremely clean and well cared for, with a very helpful & well trained staff. It's a lot better than several more upscale places I've stayed. The location is great, one block from the Embarcadero with its waterfront restaurants and shops, but far enough away to provide a quiet rest. Looking forward to staying here again on our next visit. ??
On route down to San Diego, and chose Morro Bay for our overnight stop. Fell in love with Morro Bay, loved the restaurants along the front, the fishing boats and the large mountain out to sea. But my favorite the sea otters and sea lions. Sat in restaurant watching these funny creatures and this made my evening. Hotel perfect, clean, lovely fluffy towels, bed very comfortable, coffee in room. Breakfast a tight squeeze but we managed. Reception very polite.
Make sure you let front desk very clearly to make sure room clean when you leave for the day ! and ask if there is a hot breakfast beside Waffles. be very very clean that you ROOM WILL BE CLEANED when you get back from beach.
The hotel is just adequate Nice to have the refridgerator and microwave, but necessary for a one night stay. The continental breakfast is served a little late. Just coffee at 6am would have been a plus. The staff was very uncaring that I was having a problem with the stairs Was not offered a bottom floor room and they laughed at me when I asked about an elevator.
After a long day of travel, this was a welcomed refuge. The front desk attendant was very pleasant and kind. The room was clean and comfortable, and we found a wonderful breakfast restaurant just a short walk away. All in all, great !
Great room! Perfect location! Great folks and fantastic value for the money. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. We stopped here to rest while on our big sur drive to San Francisco. Make sure to check in early as they have limited parking. Bathroom was a little small but the room was very clean and the front desk staff were very welcoming.
We've stayed here more than once in the past and unfortunately will not stay here again. They are attracting the wrong kind of clientele, those that have no consideration for other people and think the hotel is their place to party. Our room was caught between two other rooms that partied on the balcony outside our room until 4:00 in the morning! Who does that? Management should have been more aware of what was going on in their establishment and made appropriate changes. I did talk to management about in the morning and all I received was a light apology. We will move on to other choices in town next visit.
Clean , courteous , and close to everything . The tradewinds is a great place to stay with breakfast in the morning. The rooms are spacious, the bathrooms clean . Staff is very nice and greets you with a smile. Located within literally seconds from historic morro bay . I would definitely come again !
We stay there every year for our anniversary. Staying there is like staying with an old friend. The rooms are clean and the harbor and shops are only a block away. The owners are the best. Every time we leave it makes me a little sad that it we be another year before we get to see them again.
While the outside of the building looked a little dated in the photos, the interiors were beautifully appointed. I've stayed in some other Best Westerns with older linens and covers as well as worn furniture and fixtures. This definitely was not the case here. My daughter and I stayed at this Best Western overnight last Friday and we both slept well due to the comfortable beds as well as the quiet neighborhood around us. Everything was very clean and orderly in the room and the complimentary toiletries seemed even nicer than usual. DirectTV and Wi-Fi were offered in the rooms for our evening's indoor enterainment. We did not check out the hot tub due to the breezy weather but it is located on the second floor and would have a view of the ocean and Morro Rock. Continental breakfast was not available until 7:30am but we were able to enjoy some coffee in the room before checking out the breakfast in the main lobby. The typical cereals, pastries, toast, juice, waffles, yogurt and coffee were offered. The management was available during breakfast and took the time to interact and converse with the guests. This was also the case when we checked in the night prior and we were made to feel very welcome. I would definitely stay again in the future!
Great location to the beach. One block..good parking...that is where it stops. Oder in the room. No breakfast until 7:30 am and front desk is locked until then..so you cannot formally check out nor ask for assistance. Some of the staff are less than courteous. Air conditioner is noisy. Sounds like Beach Snobbery...well I will stay at another property next time and I usually use best Western. You folks at this property should know this.
Great Location, close to everything. Very clean room and very helpful and friendly staff. They allowed early check in and a late check out with no hassles which was most appreciated. Highly recommend this hotel.
Although this is an older motel, the owners have made very nice improvements in the décor, with granite in the bathroom, and new paint outside. Unfortunately, the walls are still thin, and Beach Street is rather noisy. Be sure to ask for an upstairs room facing west toward Morro Rock. All the other hotels were booked for the Morro Bay Car Show, and this one must have raised their prices, because it was rather expensive.
I come to Morro Bay once a year for work. This is the second time I have stayed in this hotel. Its located walking distance from everything. Its small but well priced for the area. Rooms are tiny. Bed is comfy. Room was clean. Staff is super friendly. My only suggestion would be to offer coffee/tea/hot water sooner then 0730 when the breakfast starts. Since I am only there a day and I turn to at 0700not having coffee kinda sucks. Sure there is the pot in the room but no creamer..etc etc. Not to much to ask to have coffee earlier for us early birds. Bottom line.... Would I stay there again....yup. Would I recommend...already have, several times.
Beds were comfortable, room was small, and the bathroom was very small and hard to use, the shower was hard to use as the head we so high (about 7 foot) the price of the room was extremely high. over all not a good experance
This hotel has a great location only a few minutes walk from the harbor and many restaurants. There is a refrigerator and microwave in the room which is awesome. Very friendly and helpful staff. They provide breakfast in the morning with oatmeal, cereal, juice, pastries and fresh waffles. Highly recommend !
Relaxing in the central coast! Nice crisp days with plenty to see. If you stay, try Dern's Restaurant. Their food is really good. The walk to the Embarcadero is steep at this end of the town, but there are other routes if you can take. There is a beach area near Moro rock. We did not go this time as we just needed to relax and enjoy each others company.
A great, quaint, quiet & awesome place to stay. If your looking choose here. The staff is wonderful and the location is perfect for getting in and around the town of Morro Bay. It is easy to find and the staff again are professional, serve with joy and are just having a great time.
Being a small hotel keeps the noise at a minimum. Within walking distance of Morro Bay's restaurants and shops, yet in a very quiet neighborhood with an excellent breakfast cafe next door. Guests in general were quite considerate of others.
Very small rooms. some amenities missing. No ground floor rooms for us old folks and no elevator. only 3 small tables for comp breakfast use, trays offered to take food to your room. It was clean however.
The room itself was fine - even had a ceiling fan which was great as it kept the room cool without the noise of the A/C. However - the rooms are NOISY! You can hear everything from the street noise, the rooms around you and even worse people on the walkway or in the parking lot. We were on the 2nd floor - about 4 rooms back from the street. We were woken up Saturday morning at 7am by folks standing in the parking lot or walkway talking. We loved the location - easy walk to our favorite wine bar, breakfast spot and the little shopping/dining strip that overlooks Morro Rock. Unfortunately the noise far outweighed our love of the location and we won't stay again unless they greatly improve the sound proofing.
First time stay here. Was very surprised how helpful and friendly they were. When we arrived my wife need to use the restroom, instead of making wait until we where checked in, the manager gave her the key right away while I finished the paperwork. We where upstairs and there isn't an elevator. As I struggled to get the baggage up the stairs, the house keeper stopped what she was doing and helped me carry the bags up and opened the room for me. The nights were quiet and the stay pleasant. The building and rooms look freshly painted and very clean. It is a tiny hotel and the rooms are small, but had everything we needed. Walking distance to the bay and shops. I plan on staying again in May.
This hotel was great! We got there a little early and wanted to walk around so I asked the man at the front desk if we could leave our car and he said of course. He then let me know our room was already ready for us and that we could check in early. The room was good sized with a king bed and a fridge and microwave. There was great cable and the room was very comfortable. The next morning we checked out at 10:15 and the same sweet man was at the desk. They were just cleaning up the continental breakfast because it ended at 10 but he told us to go grab some food anyway. I found that so sweet that he was so accommodating to us. The hotel was close by everything we wanted to do so we will totally be staying here again.
This hotel is a place you want to stay for sure!! A+++++ We have stayed at a few different places in Morro Bay and have stayed here for the past three years. It's an amazing place to stay, the staff is GREAT and the location is great as far as being close to everything you could want to do in Morro Bay.
We came to Morro Bay in Central California to enjoy the coast and enjoy a typical Best Western stay. This was a small motel with basic amenities. For the price we expected more of what the BW does best. The room was comfortable and made for handicap folks like me. Upon arrival, I was told that the necessary shower chair that goes with the tub had been given to another guest, even though I had requested it at reservation. There is another BW in town and we will be going back to it in the future. The breakfast was more like camping. The next night, for $10 more we stayed at a BW in Pismo Beach that was elegant!
This is a very old motel and in spite of the owners' best efforts it shows. The rooms are very small and the bathroom is smaller. The breakfast room is very, very tiny and so the best option is to take a tray (provided) and eat in your room. On the other hand the owners are lovely and the rooms are very, very clean. The bed is comfortable, the linens are good, and the shower works very well. So really that's all you can ask for.
As soon as I arrived without a reservation, Mister Bob the MOD offered me and promised to call while having breakfast along the bay. Mister Bob was an exceptional in handling my necessity to have a pleasant stay. I enjoyed and felt excempt from others who had reservation, not knowing how Mister Bob handled my need. Thank you Mister Bob! Looking forward this summer.
I feel in love with the room. Clean, comfortable and quite during my stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful with suggestions. The beds were soft and very comfortable. The rates were very reasonable too. Will stay there again. Best kept secret place around.
Spent one night here-very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. Low noise factor, which was great. Skip the free continental breakfast - spend a few bucks (not many) at the great little breakfast place right next door. The desk staff was very nice and helpful. Short walk to bay and restaurants. All in all, really recommend for a short stay.
What a great place to visit, too bad we were there for only 2 days and next time will stay longer! We really enjoyed the Tradewinds, great staff especially Bob at front desk and the spa at the end of the day was perfect. Will recommend highly for value, comfort and closeness to the waterfront.
Great location next to the rock and restaurants on the harbour. Check in was easy and desk staff helpful. Rooms were clean, well equipped and air con. everything needed apart from a in room safe for valuables.
To call this place the Best Western is an audacity hard to believe! The bathroom is so small there is no room to put toiletries since there are no shelfs,no window and small sink. The room is small, the closet is a hole in the wall, you have to move the chair to get into the closet!
Conveniently located and with very reasonable rates with quality service all around! Easy access from Highway 101 and in close proximity of the harbor, restaurants and the beaches. I highly recommend for a "Pit Stop" heading North or South, Morro Bay is a beautiful destination.
On a motorcycle trip through the US. In Morro bay, CA. The rooms were clean and well equipped. We were able to walk right out to the mini Gibraltar. The continental breakfast was full with lots of variety. Lots a parking. Quiet restful night.
Took a quick overnight trip to the coast; found this hotel to be reasonably priced; close to ocean; clean; good water pressure and hot. Staff was very personable. We would definitely stay there again.
Stayed here at the start of our PCH 1 drive. It was lovely! The rooms were small but clean and comfortable. And the beds were soft and cozy. Breakfast was nice. And waking up to the sound of seagulls was wonderful. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was very chill. We loved it so much we booked an extra 2 days here at the end of our trip! Highly recommended.
Unfortunately, I did not notice, on the booking form, that I was booking a first floor room and I do not recall it pointing out that a lift was not available. I asked if an upgrade to a room on the lower level was available. (Platinum Status!), Apparently not. The room was "bijou" as was the Breakfast Room, which was fully occupied with 4 adults and 3 children, the food was satisfactory. In general, I would describe this as a "budget hotel", the accommodation and the breakfast facilities were not up to the standards that I expect from Best Western
Room was very comfortable and clean. Bathroom was updated and friendly for seniors with a safety bar and bath mat in the tub. Great value for the money and I would highly recommend. I would definitely stay here if I come back to visit Morro Bay.
have stayed at this property numerous times. It is an older property but has been updated and kept in great shape. Check-in was a breeze with extremely helpful gentleman at the desk. I think he is the owner.
Frist impression is important and office staff as well as the property manager assure that was met during my visit. I was pleased with friendly encountered that I signed up for Best Western Rewards Program with the help of the office staff during check out. Thank you!
Nice Property. great place for breakfast next door. Within walking distance to beach, park area. Quiet and nicely appointed room, nothing fancy just nice and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Look forward to staying here again.
Very comfy beds, really pleasant decor, cleanliness never in question! Best possible location; walk down the one block hill to the Embarcadero! It's hard to beat the convenience. This is our 5th or 6th trip to this same hotel!
Friendly and easy check-in by Bob. Great location. Clean and comfortable room. Only complaint was that the Spa Tub wasn't working, that's not their fault as it just quit the day before and it was Christmas Day, so they weren't able to have it repaired during our stay.
My boyfriend and I did a road trip up the PCH and needed a stopping point for a quick night of rest. I picked Morro Bay based on location and selected this best western based on other reviews. The motel was perfect for what we needed. It was clean, inexpensive, close to the giant rock and restaurants in town, and has complimentary breakfast in the morning. Keep in mind this is a motel so it is nothing spectacular, but if you are just looking for the basics this place is perfectly adequate.
Stayed here after reading other reviews ... For an older style motel the maintenance of it could not be faulted rooms looked newly remodelled and were spotlessly clean .... Parking is tight but we were able to park ... Breakfast is nice with the usual cereals toast etc for the price we paid we were more than happy staff were friendly and helpful
Enjoyed the 2 nite stay at Christmas. Great location and room. Quite upstairs with a very comfortable King bed. Very nice people with great service. Free continental breakfast w/waffle machine is a very nice touch.
Room- clean and bright. Bed was a little mushy but slept pretty well the three nights we were there. View- we were not in the room much. Room 202 and 204 do not have a view, unless you count the fantastic view through the bathroom window - ironically. Check, but I think 206 and 208 have a spectacular view! Location - great location just a few blocks from the water and restaurants. The people in the office were friendly, a small breakfast is provided, there is a coffee maker in the room. Nice place!
An overnight getaway and we had not been to Morro Bay before. This property is run by a couple who are very friendly and helpful. We visited in the off season, got a room with a king size bed and a view of Morro Bay. The room was very clean and comfortable and the facility is well maintained. The facility is one short block from the main waterfront shopping area and restaurants. But don't park the car as we drove around Morro Bay and found many shops between the new shopping centers along the freeway and the tourist attractions along the waterfront, all within easy reach of this facility. We will definitely be coming back to this facility. If you visit from May to October - book ahead.
The room was rather small, but clean and quiet. Beds were clean and comfortable. Parking was right outside the room, But the best part was that this hotel is within easy walking distance of the Morro Bay Embarcadero area where all the restaurants and shops are. Recommended for a short stay.
On the positive side, BW Tradewinds was very clean, the king bed was comfortable and the office personnel pleasant. These features are important to us and therefore the good rating. On the negative side, a number of things stand out, most of which would be difficult to correct. BW Tradewinds is within walking distance of the ocean front, but the lot it sits on is too small. The parking lot is small, crowded and congested. The breakfast nook provides very basic breakfast items, and is actually part of the office with room for only 3 small, two-person tables, far too inadequate for a two-level motel. Relatively poor TV reception in the room. However, the positive features outweigh the bad. We would return.
We stayed here on a last minute road trip. This hotel has a great location in Morro Bay. We did not spend much time there, so it was adequate for what we needed. Room was small, seemed dated and musty, but it was clean. There was a small refrigerator, everything else was basic.
We stayed here for just one night and it was more than adequate for our needs - very close to all the shops, bars and restaurants, and it was clean and tidy. The bathroom needed a little updating and was small, but hey, for the price we paid I've definitely got no complaints. The breakfast area is small, but it contains enough variety to satisfy and you're able to take your breakfast back to the room if you want to. All in all, I'd recommend this as a good hotel to stay at.
We thought we were getting a queen size bed and got a double instead. Very cramped upstairs (steep stairs) room. Bed was only place to sit after needing to use the one chair to place suitcase. Breakfast room cramped. Hot tub a joke on top of roof. No parking space when we returned at night. Positive was the friendly staff and modern door entry key.
The hotel is easy to find and perfectly located, it's just a short walk down to the bay and beach. Parking was fine, lots of spaces when we arrived. The reception area is small but we were greeted warmly. Our room was upstairs and was surprising large! It had a nice king size bed, OK sized bathroom and separate dressing area. Breakfast was included but it was extremely busy, with only 3-4 tables it was difficult to get near the food or even a table. The receptionist did point out some trays that we could use to take breakfast back to the room (which I did, and managed an impressive save when I tripped on the parking kerbs whilst carrying the tray!!!) It would have been nice to have a sign up noting this somewhere easily seen. Overall I would recommend this hotel for a short stay.
This place was very small. Everything was very cramped. We had to duck under the stairs to get into our room. Parking is very cramped. Breakfast room is very small too. Bathroom was almost on the ridiculous side of small. The location was good for us. You could just walk down the hill to town. Free Wifi . NO pool.. They do have a hot tub.. It is upstairs. No elevator at this hotel.
Hotel in good location v close to the shoe and boats breakfast mainly carbohydrates and sugar and hard boiled eggs. Staff polite and helpful. No dirty prostitutes around. Albertson in walking distance. Nice clean room. Will visit again.
My Husband and I were looking for a nice get away, much needed. Our stay here at this hotel was very nice. Staff (Bob) was very, very pleasant and made sure we were comfortable. This hotel is close to everything, embarcadero, great restaurants and downtown etc. It was all within walking distance. Great hotel... Great stay. Thank you Bob and your staff. Very nice and we will see you again this next year.
This small, cozy Best Western hotel is walking distance to all the restaurants and scenery of Morro Bay. The rooms have been remodeled nicely since our last stay four years ago. Great decor and furnishings! We woke to an unexpected view of Morro Rock. Friendly staff and fairly priced. We will stay here again.
Just what I was looking for. Not fancy, just clean and updated. Very friendly and helpful staff. Had a bad experience at a previous hotel and came here on a recommendation from a different BW employee. Worked out great! Wonderful location.
Over the years, anytime we drive the California Coastal Hwy, we make it a point to visit, Morro Bay, CA.and stay at the Best Western Tradewinds, if possible. We have never been disappointed, rooms have always been well maintained and the Staff pleasant to deal with, "they have a sense of humour". If you are going to be in the area, give them a call several days ahead of time, Morro Bay is a busy tourist town, especially for fishermen/women.
It was by far the most disappointing hotel stay I've ever had. We choose to stay there - and even chose to pay $50 more to stay there - based on the pictures and it's distance to the beach and the ocean. The hotel itself was fine (except parking was a bit tricky], the employees were all nice and friendly. They even had cookies for the kids. But when you are paying nearly $200/night and drive up to see a nuclear plant not 5 blocks away (this is out of your control, I admit-but it should be in the hotel information], then go out to dinner and they say "Don't drink the water here, it's contaminated." (they DID say it was a blue green algae thing or something-but still, it raises red flags] Then, at checkout you notice a sign that warns pregnant women not to stay in the Morro Bay area, as the air and everything in the area is contaminated...and I'm standing there noticeably 6 months pregnant (even had a conversation about it with the check-in desk] and no one ever said ANYTHING to me about the risk on the website, in person or otherwise...well, it makes one grateful that the stay was only for about 12 hours. A VERY expensive night for a very disappointing atmosphere.
I have stayed here before and like the area. My business is in Pismo Beach, so I had a drive each day, but, well worth the quiet stay. Updates seem to be done regularly. The only thing I would change would be the way the refrigerator and microwave are situated. That could use an up date. The doors are a bit skewed and you must bend over to use the microwave. I noticed that the light switches in the sink area were replaced with toggles and the toilet seat was repaired. I like the linens here. Nice heavy towels !
We loved Morro Bay with the water just down from the hotel. We had an upstairs room looking towards the rock. We were able to leave the windows open all night without too much disturbance to our sleep. We heard the sea lions barking and the fog horns going just now and again. We were advised to stroll along the water front and saw a number of sea lions just laying on the rocks or swimming. We had dinner at the last dockside outside restaurant which was delightful. We watched the most beautiful sunset from the dock. The hotel was just a short stroll from the water and was comfortable. Very nice staff, good beds and continental breakfast ( although very small breakfast room). We would certainly recommend this hotel and would stay again.
Tradewinds was in an excellent location. Walking distance to Morro Bay Embarcadero. Rooms were very clean, nice decor. Comfortable beds. Very friendly staff and environment Next time I will plan to stay longer
As it seems with most properties in Morro Bay, this is an older building but has been updated and kept in very nice condition. Check in staff were very friendly and helpful. Motel is located only one block up from the Embarcadero and a great view of Morro Rock. Satellite TV is a nice touch.
The hotel is only two blocks from the shops and activities of the bayside. We stayed during the annual Harbor Festival. This event was well represented by local merchants and we took advantage of Great Seafood caught and cooked by area fishermen. The hotel staff go out of their way to be friendly, courteous and helpful!
I spent one night there while traveling along the coast. There is a very small room in the office for a limited breakfast. I just had banana, yogurt and coffee. They have trays to take food back to your room. The staff there was very nice, room was small, but it served its purpose for my short stay. The room was clean and bed comfortable.
Charming, quiet, good location. Walk to everything pretty much. Lovely staff, clean. Touches that make the stay very pleasant, Wish there was an elevator though. No view from doube queen rooms. Was pleasantly surprised by the quality, cleanliness and kindness. Thank you all who work so hard to make this a great little home away from home.
After a thorough search for a hotel fitting our needs and in our price range we were not disappointed with our choice. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was very comfortable and clean and the area was quiet and relaxing. The bay and restaurants were within walking distance. We were only staying one night on a drive north so just wanted a place to sleep but Morro bay and Best Western ended up being a very enjoyable part of our trip.
Tradewinds is located in the center of Morro Bay just above the Embarcadero, with its shops, restaurants and bars. Reception is friendly and efficient (particularly the manager and his wife, who operate the morning shift). Rooms are better than the motel standard with good quality furniture a refrigerator and microwave. Small but clean bathroom. Good breakfast in a small breakfast room with trays to take breakfast to the room. Room cleaning seems to take most of the day, so don't expect early check-in or the room to be made up particularly early. Recommended.
This hotel was clean and close to where I needed to be. It was however very expensive for what they offer and have around them. I would only stay here again if the room price was more in line with the places around them.
This older small Motel is in A-1 shape with spotless rooms and friendly staff. We truly enjoyed our stay there. It is only a two minute walk from the north end of the harbor area shops and restaurants. You can walk to Stand-up Paddle, Kayak rentals and harbor cruises. The areas top beach break surfing spot is only a two minute drive.
Stopped here for one night on a driving trip up the California coast. Would recommend Morro bay as a good stopping point - less expensive than Cambria, nice 'small town' feel of a real town rather than just a tourist destination. The staff were extremely helpful and the location was good to walk to the waterfront shops and restaurants. Small, older room but very clean and for the price, this was a good value. I made the reservation night before so ended up with a no-view room (looked out over a next door roof) - would recommend getting a view room which I imagine would be quite nice. It was a good stop to get some dinner, sleep, and have a nice walk in the morning to see sea otters and seals and of course Morro rock. Don't get the other reviewers complaints about breakfast - it is a tiny place, the breakfast was decent for the size of the place and in keeping with the typical Best Western continental free breakfasts. You won't be getting omelets and mimosas people! :)
