First, it was my error and clicked on a smoking room (I didn't even know that was even still a thing) but the room was so smoke scented, that we almost was not able to stay. If I had not used hotels.com and not selected to get a refund (going to be doing that going forward), we would have walked out. The only thing that made it bearable was using a candle to cover/take the smell down a bit. Our cloths/bags smelled like that room for DAYS.
We booked adjoining rooms 3 days before our stay. Upon arrival we discovered they placed other guests in the adjoining rooms and were unable to fulfill our request for two nonsmoking queen adjoining room. The hotel was unwilling to give us a refund, discount our room, or compensate us a free night stay. I get issues come up with reservations. Someone made a mistake. That's fine just compensate your guests so they feel appreciated after you make the mistake.
This Best Western location left a sour taste in our experience, tarnishing the reputation of a typically reliable chain. Upon checking into room 103, we were dismayed by an overwhelming musty odor that permeated the air. As we settled into our room, we attempted to use the nightstand outlets, but they proved faulty, leaving us with no convenient access to power. To our shock, we discovered exposed live electrical wiring in the wall, posing a serious safety hazard. The condensation on the window was so severe that it impaired our view outside, even when no one had recently used the shower. To top it off, our excitement for a refreshing dip in the pool was met with disappointment as the hotel had no towels. We were instructed to use our room towels, leaving us with none for our morning showers. Our repeated calls to the front desk were met with the same excuse – they were waiting for the owner to deliver more towels. However, those towels never materialized, leaving us to use damp pool towels to dry off after our showers. To add insult to injury, we left our name and number with the front desk so the owner could call us, but our contact request was met with silence. Additionally, the breakfast area lacked sugar for coffee, and when we inquired about it, we were informed that they were waiting for their truck delivery. This lack of basic amenities compounded the overall unsatisfactory experience we had at this Best Western location.
I booked this room for $130, out of sheer necessity of being too tired to drive further. The first room's key card did not work. When I went back to the desk, I asked if I might be a little farther from the elevator since I'd needed to come back down anyway. I was given a room that was closest to the elevator, with a running toilet, and where neither the light switch nor AC worked. I requested a refund at that point, waited while she callled someone who told her to tell me to go through Expedia (which took so long I gave up), and was given a third room with an AC unit whose number display is non-functional and the most uncomfortable beds I've ever experienced in a hotel before. However, since it was late, and since I felt a bit embarrassed for the desk worker to only have such rubbish rooms to offer, I inflated an air mattress I happened to have in the trunk and slept on it in the third room. Needless to say, I won't be repeating this particular experience. Ever. However, the desk worker was polite and the room was clean.
Very Clean Hotel and Hotel rooms at Best Western and highly recommend Best Western to all family and friends out there today very highly satisfied with all Best Western Hotels and plan to book my next Hotel stay with Best Western.
I have stayed at Lake Cumberland for years. I have stayed at other inns in the area. Lake Cumberland is head and shoulders above any place in Monticello, Ky to stay. Staff is always friendly and helpful.. the inn is always very clean and welcoming.
Nice place to stay, clean rooms, friendly people. We stayed here 2 nights on a visit with family. Parking is a little tight out front of the hotel, but plenty of parking in the rear. Did not use the pool or fitness area, breakfast was very good, and well stocked.
We stayed here one night while traveling across country. The reviews were good so took a chance. The room could have been cleaner the linens on the bed were old and had stains on them. The bed was comfortable though. The bathroom mirror hadn't been cleaned thoroughly and there were handprints around door handle and on wall. I expected better from review. The breakfast was standard, powdered eggs biscuits gravy premade packaged pastries etc. I'm gluten intolerant so the eggs, if you want to call them that , were all I could eat. Not any fruit anywhere. Not very healthy.
This hotel is CLEAN! The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Handicap ♿️ access is very accommodating. Children friendly! Breakfast is something that will satisfy all ages and all diets. The fact they even have a gym is great. Location is close to stores and restaurants. Definitely a hidden gem. I will be back!!
We have stayed at this hotel many times in the past for family times in the area. We have worked threw broken pool in past and construction issues but that is all reasonable . The check in staff we had WAS amazing and so was cleaning staff. Only issue was staff in morning this young gentleman was rude to my wife, to myself (on the 2nd day) and also short and rude to others in the mornings of breakfest. He did not want to be there and infact stated he just wants to go home and sleep . I feel best western will deal with this guy once they observe this however can not say nothing but good things for rest of staff at this hotel very helpful and kind.
I have been staying here every Memorial Day week-end for the past 18 years. Never disappointed. Nicely appointed rooms; clean. Nice indoor pool, and workout room. Parking easily accessible to building.
Lake Cumberland Inn is clean with a friendly staff. Breakfast is good. The internet is fast, and the television is clear, and channel selections are plentiful. My wife and I had a very comfortable king size bed.
The rooms were clean and quiet and the guy at the front desk was polite, courteous, welcoming and respectful which is all I am looking for while traveling from hotel to hotel during the work week. I highly recommend this hotel.
Best hotel in the area we always stay here when we come tl Monticello or Albany. The breakfast was good the rooms clean staff took care of our needs We will be staying there again when visiting family Great pay for the price
The Staff would be my number one reason to stay again! From planning, booking, arrival & departure every staff member encountered was pleasant, polite & professional. The overall sense of clean was important but certainly in our case the cleaning team could have paid a bit more attention to details as the bathroom floors were just “ok” but not fully cleaned. It wasn't something I felt I needed to call the front desk on as I just took care of it myself. The Breakfast was basic and fine. Again, the front desk staff in particular did a great job!
We had a nonsmoking room but it smelled like smoke all the time and the hallways did as well. If you smoke and like watching Fox News, this is the place for you. Also, our room (208) had leaks in the tub, sink and toilet. Finally, the 6 jugs of coffee were perennially empty in the breakfast area. I was glad we could stay here, pretty close to Lake Cumberland, but the smoking was a bit much.
The staff that I encountered at this hotel were incredibly nice and the hotel (both my room and lobby area) was possibly one of the cleanest I have seen. However, smoking and non-smoking rooms are found on each floor. it is crazy to me that in 2022 we still have a hotel that allows smoking indoors knowing how harmful second-hand smoke is to people– especially in a region where lung cancer rates are double the national average (I work at a cancer center).
I came to monticello from IN for a funeral. When I made the reservation I asked if I could check in early and was told i could. So, when I got to the hotel at 12:30 to check in so we could change and get ready for the funeral the front office ladies refused to allow us to check in because she stated as long as the house keepers were still there, she wouldn't allow it. I tried to explain what i was told at the time of booking the room the lady very hatefully cut me off mid-sentence and repeated herself very loudly. I should've cancelled the room then, but we ended up changing and getting ready for the funeral in a public rest room! Also, the coffee pot and hair dryer didn't' work as well. Mentioned it to the front desk lady and all she said was ok! I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN. TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY
I travel for work frequently and have stayed at many different hotels. The customer service by this hotel was the best I've ever experienced. They called us after we checked in and left a jacket in the lobby, called when we checked out and had left our personal pillow in the room. They recommended a nearby restaurant we had planned to visit and gave us a menu/brochure for it (Huddle House). The rooms were very clean, housekeeping came in and made our bed and replaced towels during the day. The staff always greeted us whenever we passed through the lobby coming or going. I can't say enough good things about this particular hotel and the people who work there!
This was a perfect place to stay when wanting to visit Lake Cumberland for a few days. We don't need a luxury hotel with a lot of amenities when the plan is to use the Lake. We need a place to rest our head at night. This was perfect for that. And the price point was great. Trailer parking in the rear for our boat makes this a very nice place to stay when visiting for a few days. Located about 20 minutes from both Beavercreek Marina and Conley Bottom gave us choices for where to enter the lake each day. Steer clear of room 107, room 108 and room 109 if you need internet. There are known issues in these rooms. When we were finally moved to a new room, the internet was great.
Great stay clean, friendly stayed there before very nice people that work there the breakfast is modified but you just have to take it to your room no big deal rooms were for clean will be staying there again.
The hotel seemed decent enough at first but upon entering the room we noticed an immediate and overwhelming smell of mildew and shortly after found massive amounts of mold in the AC vent. We requested a new room just to find the same situation only with even more mold and unclean bedding we tried to tough it out and just stay the night and get on but after about 30 minutes in the room we had to leave due to headaches and nausea from the mold issue. Upon telling the lady at the front desk that we would be leaving and expected to be fully refunded she lied and told us we would have to speak with corporate simply to get us to leave so other customers in the lobby didn't hear us talking about the issue of mold inside of the hotel. When we called corporate we were informed all billing was handled by the independent hotels. Check out the pictures to see all the mold
The hospitality provided was above par. The room was comfortable! The beds were so fluffy and soft. The front desk was quick to accommodate my family and myself. The only downfall was how far away the hotel is from the lake. All in all, I was very impressed!
Very nice place. Very comfortable beds and pillows. Extremely clean. Just needs a light near the mirror at the entrance of the room, or a mirror over the table instead of a picture. Good location to Conley Bottoms.
Friendly and helpful staff clean rooms and great rates Best rooms in the area. I spend over 200 nights a year in motels for work. I stay in this one for family time and it is the best. Great location and family fun.
upon arrival we were told the pool was closed, this would have been nice to know or have mentioned on the internet. Other hotels have re opened pools, we would have stayed elsewhere if we known the pool was closed, the complimentary breakfast was surely lacking, they offered yogurt, applesauce and or a breakfast bar,
I was traveling to this location to play travel softball, I found them book the room online. Within the listing it's still stated that they had an indoor pool and a free continental breakfast. Arrived at the hotel my first impression was that it looked like a very nice hotel from the outside and when we entered the lobby it met the same expectation. While waiting to check in at the front desk, I had to wait at least five minutes before someone even walked out to greet me and my partner. After we were finally greeted the check in process was pretty smooth. After we checked in we went up to the third-floor where room was located and immediately stepping on to the elevator my partner and I both were choked up by the smell of cigarette smoke. We get to our room to find a decently modern decorated room that met my expectations at this price range. We unpack and do our typical bed bug inspection and then flop down on the bed to see how it feels. And my immediate thoughts was it's very had and uncomfortable. My partner and I decided to stay on this room due to us already having a long day of travel. We both woke up feeling very sore and not rested. We get ready for a day and go down stairs and again the elevator reeks of cigarette smoke. Make it to the lobby to find out the breakfast selection is a granola bar! At that time I also find out that the pool is drained and is closed. Which is one of the reasons we chose this hotel over others due to it being close to the fields and cold come back and relax and swim between our games. After our games we decided we would rather drive the 4 hours back home rather than sleep in this hotel again.
The lobby is wonderful and the staff was nice. Our first floor room was quiet - except the toilet ran all night. The sheets on our bed were inside out. Not horrible but if you are ok with sloppy what else did you skip? The first hand towel I grabbed was stained. I showered with a fabric, removable, machine washable shower curtain that was that nasty pink at the bottom. Surviving that I attempted to dry my hair but the blow dryer didn't work even though the power light came on. Since this is the best hotel around I won't say not to stay here.....
as always excellent----very clean rooms the staff always goes out of their way to make sure you have a great stay. We stay here every year when we visit for our family reunion as well as my whole family.
We got rained out while camping and showed up late on a Friday night. We were 8 people and booked 2 rooms for 3 nights. Our trip included full days of adventures on Lake Cumberland and each evening after returning to the hotel, one of our sets of room keys would not work. The night we arrived one set of keys didn't work right off the bat and so we made a minimum of 7 trips down to the front desk to have our keys reprogrammed and every time after that first night I was asked how many nights we were staying. One evening I had to go back down (from the 3rd floor mind you) 3 times to have it reprogrammed. This is utterly ridiculous. 4 of us did not arrive until around 5am and as we were all excited to see each other, we may have been a little loud, and we were definitely made aware of it twice...once by the front desk knocking on the door around 6am and again on one of my trips back down to have keys reprogrammed. I won't stay here again. Also, these rooms do NOT have microwaves and the fridge barely works.
I was completely dissatisfied with amenities. The pool was so cloudy you could not see the bottom. Which is a health code violation the pool should of been closed and front desk acted like it wasn't problem
Stay here every time we go to Monticello. From check-in to checkout we are made to feel at home. Love the manager and staff here. They take great pride in the property. Always a positive experience. Nothing better than a visit to “small town America”!
I come to my hometown to spend time with my family as much as I can. I choose to stay at the hotel because of activities that were planned the next day. My only problem was the checkin clerk who was very rude to me. I was the only person in the lobby checkin and and he tried to I guess persuade me to go else where. I went through with it and even getting over charged for my stay. I had checked the website and called for pricing. I hope to never encounter this type of service again. I never thought my hometown was like this.
We had to go out of town for a funeral and it was a difficult time for me the staff here was wonderful and it was a good stay and it was one less thing that I had to worry about in all the chaso of planning the funeral we had to have baby beds and the staff was so kind they came and sit up the baby beds and made sure we had everything we needed
Customer service was not the greatest and the breakfast was just ok. TV remote power button did not work. We got the TV to work but never were sure if the refrigerator worked or not. I would probably stay again just because it was convenient to the lake.
Good hotel. Clean with a friendly staff. Location is good. Washer and dryer wool great. Only complaint we had was no outside seating. We had to move tables and chairs from the pool area. Overall it was a good stay.
I always stay at Beat Western when I travel because my dog usually travels with me and they are pet friendly. The rooms are always kept clean and fresh smelling. The rooms are nice size and quiet. I have never been in a Best Western that was anything but great.
First time staying at this hotel. Had a quick family get away to Lake Cumberland / Conley Bottom Restort. Hotel is less than 15 minutes away, staff was friendly, breakfast was good, and most importantly the rooms were clean!
It was descent for the price. The evening desk staff was a little curt but the morning desk staff was friendly and courteous. It was an enjoyable stay from coming off the road after 8 hours. I would recommend staying here. It is convenient and well placed. I would stay here again.
We stayed here as our house was getting remodeled. So it was weird staying in a hotel in the same town we lived in. Overall it was clean and quiet. The breakfast was decent but lacked daily variety(it was the same thing everyday) but the waffles were not the one big waffle like most places it was a 4 smaller waffle iron which made the waffles better than other hotels. The beds were very comfortable and the only complaint I have is the water could've been hotter. Staff was very friendly and professional.
I am very please with my stay, it is nice to see the same staff year after year. My parents are passed and I still say I am going home when coming to Monticello, the same staff and manager makes it feel so.
Staff here is always welcoming and helpful. The rooms are clean and well supplied. If anything happens to be missing it is brought immediately and an apology extended for the inconvenience. We always choose this hotel when in the area.....
Dale at the front desk was super helpful and very friendly. The entire hotel was well appointed and very very clean. Rooms were large and updated. I will definitely be staying at this location for all my future trips to Lake Cumberland. Location is just 8 miles from Conley Bottom Resort/Marina. Great place!
The location of this hotel is excellent for our needs. We came to decorate cemeteries and visit the Wayne County Museum and Genealogy Library. The beds are very comfortable and the hot breakfast saves time going out. We've stayed there before and would again.
Each time we have stayed at this hotel, we have received excellent service in every category from the time the reservation is made to the time we check-out. Our recent stay was no exception. The room was clean and spacious with everything operating properly. There is good space to use a VPAP machine for breathing assistance. The hotel has good choices for breakfast which includes a good variety of healthy foods The management and staff are always helpful.
Great hotel. If you are a boat owner, tjetr is great boat parking and electrical outlets to keep your batteries charged. Comfortable beds. Breakfast is great. Right in town so you are close to Walmart and several restaurants
I have been to this particular Best Western many times, and each time I am pleased! It is right on Route 90, just about 9 miles or so to Conley Bottom boat dock. There is an indoor pool, the beds are great and the staff is the best you'll ever deal with. If you head down to Monticello KY it's the best place to stay!
Overall the motel is very clean and the staff is very friendly. I stay here when I come home for visits and the beds I have slept in are just too firm. Other than that I have no complaints. The breakfast was nice too!
Always welcomed at check-in by a warm smile and a "thank you for staying with us". Staff always available to answer questions or assist with any concerns. Always our first choice hotel to stay when in the Monticello area.
Our stay was very enjoyable. The staff was very helpful. The service was excellent. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Not to mention but it was very quite. we'd highly recommend this hotel and would stay again in future.
Everything about our stay was just fine and our only issue was with noise. The rooms are not very insulated and there was a lot of door slamming, kids yelling, and such going on well after midnight the weekend we stayed. We were on the first floor at the end of the hall and the door to the outside slammed really loud whenever someone went in/out. The doors to other rooms slammed as well, and you could hear noise from the upper floor. Across the hall there was a lot of noise from inside the room (several kids apparently) that could be heard even with our door and theirs closed. We didn't bother to complain because we've yet to find any hotel that has truly "soundproof" rooms. It's just part of the travel-experience to have a bit more noise/activity that you'd encounter at home. The room was very clean, spacious, neat, nicely decorated, the bed comfy, shower had great water pressure, all amenities worked fine, internet connection reliable, and the staff was very friendly. We'll likely stay there again if in the area, despite the issues with the noise. We'll take a fan for drowning out some noise next time.
Arrived well after dark looking for a nice place to stay. Desk staff was very courteous and friendly. Our choice of room was available and ready. The room and facilities were extremely clean and our requests were met with eagerness to,please. The free breakfast was more than sufficient for what we usually eat and the morning staff was more than courteous and helpful beyond measure. We will most likely return to this area and the Best Western Monticello will be our choice. Note: advice would be to secure reservations during fishing and hunting seasons as this area is slammed during these times.
I thought that the overall appearance of this hotel was nice. Staff was friendly and ready to help at all times. Breakfast that was offered was something to be desired. Otherwise this is a nice quiet hotel with helpful friendly staff.
This hotel is easy to locate, well lit parking lot. Beautiful landscape, close to restaurants and stores. Rooms are clean, nice bathrooms. The beds are very nice and comfortable. They had biscuits & gravy, bacon & eggs. Warm glazed doughnuts. Not bad at all for hotel food. We stay there every time we visit Lake Cumberland.
Very nice hotel, nice staff and very nice rooms. Only complaint is the price, You get what you pay for though. We always rent a room at this hotel when we go to lake Cumberland because it is the only hotel around that I have found that has a Jacuzzi. Rooms are always clean, staff is friendly. Indoor pool and fitness room. Breakfast is decent, they offer a variety. Overall it is a very nice hotel.
I found hotel very nice condition bedrooms were clean and beds comfortable. It was quite in my room pool nearby for kids enjoyed it. Breakfast was fine crowded of course on Sunday morning. Overall would stay there again.
I have stayed at this motel for several years. It started as a Holiday Express and was later managed/owned by other franchises. Best Western completely remodeled and refurnished it and maintain it with an excellent staff. Enjoy this Lake Cumberland Hotel and Monticello.
Read reviews one month in advance, several stated that ALL ice machines were broken. One month later we arrived, one machine worked out of 3 floors. Sheets looked slept on and unchanged, one bed had makeup smears on the bottom sheet. Small flies / nats were flying around the room when we arrived, it was late, we were tired and did not have the energy to change rooms. Upon check out, I told the desk clerk out the bugs and he said, "THAT SHOULD BE EXPECTED"! ????? Are you serious! Sleep in your car before spending $100 plus dollars to sleep here, you car will surely be cleaner and not infested.
My family and I stay at this hotel probably 12-16 nights each summer. This hotel is very clean, affordable, and the staff is excellent and friendly. We stay here a lot when we are boating at Lake Cumberland and is only a 10 minute drive to Conley Bottom Mariana.
Our rooms are always clean, have very comfortable beds, and are soooo quiet! We always feel welcome. The pool is clean. The breakfast has great variety and is always well stocked. The staff is so friendly and extremely helpful. I love that it's very kid friendly!
Have been coming to Lake Cumberland once a year for a long time to visit family. This hotel was a godsend when it was first built, as the only option prior to that was the Tiffany Inn (ugh!). I haven't stayed in a hotel in Somerset, as that is too far away from where my family is located, so I can not compare it to hotels there. This hotel is a very pleasant surprise for the area. It has not always been a Best Western but has always maintained standards I would expect from a Best Western/Holiday Inn Express/Hampton. While I am always there on a weekend, and it is mostly a lake crowd, it has standards I would expect from your normal mid-level business hotel. Free wifi, free breakfast, etc. It is certainly hopping on summer weekends, so make reservations.
Very nice hotel, remodeled since last funeral visit in 2011. Clean rooms, good a/c, nice breakfast and coffee all day. Only TV channel lineup is on channel 2 of TV, would be nice to have paper lineup. Hallways still smell of cigarette smoke unfortunately.
My family had a two night stay here while in town visiting family. I haven't been to this hotel for at least ten years and I was thoroughly impressed by how it's been maintained and the cleanliness. It was super clean! The breakfast had a good variety of options and the staff was very friendly. The only only downer was the pool- so cold! Other than that I highly recommend!!
Very nice, new and fresh rooms. We asked for a room away from the elevator, but received the room next to the elevator. I guess they misunderstood us. We did not eat breakfast, so can not tell about that. But the room was quite and clean.
I booked a king for the night of 8/3, on arrival clerk changed the room to a double queen (his request) and I ended paying 19.99 more than the price I agreed per the website. Next day a different person told me that he could not change 3rd party reservation prices and i had to pay the high price, he was not able to understand that the 3rd party price had already be changed by the location and I was not being charge the price I had agreed.
Friendly staff who goes out of their way to make you comfortable! Makes us feel like family & happy to see us. Overall good quality, clean rooms, comfy beds, good amenities; great location & highly recommended.
Our non smoking room smelt like smoke the entire time. We came home and our bags smelt like smoke even at home. I walked around without shoes or socks for about 10 minutes and the bottom of my feet were black! The plugs wouldn't stay in the outlets they just fell right back out. I'm not happy. We stay here every year and it was awful this time!
Somerset is a large city nearby with hotels but I like it here. Quaint. Very clean, updated and comfortable beds. Nice soft towels too. The manager and his wife are so helpful and courteous. Breakfast bar and coffee all day. A larger nice pool. My grandchildren really enjoy the pool.If time permits visit Mill Spring park. Minutes down the road. It is a beautiful scenic place.
Stayed here over July 4 and had a very nice room with king size bed. Would definitely recommend this motel. The breakfast was excellent and the location was perfect for us. We did get a senior citizen discount.
We spent 2 nights here. The rooms were clean and the beds comfy. Their pool and exercise rooms were more than we expected as was the breakfasts. They had everything you would expect from a southern breakfast. The staff was very friendly and made us feel very appreciated. Our 2 sons and their families joined us the second day. They too seemed to like the hotel.
This location is extremely clean. I have stayed here multiple times and would highly recommend! The staff is helpful and the rooms are always extremely clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend this location. I have stayed in multiple Best Western properties both in the U.S. as well as abroad and this is a great one.
Dale is a great manager! He is informative and always willing to accommodate our needs. The staff are always willing to help. The rooms and clean and neat. The WI-Fi works great. Breakfast is good. We plan to stay there this summer. I also like the promotions that help you build points and save money.
Clean rooms, comfortable beds, nice breakfast, nice location near restaurants and businesses. Would recommend this place. Will definitely stay here again when in this area. Second year in a row that our family has stayed here
We slept better than we ever have away from home. The beds are very comfortable and our room was quiet. At breakfast the manager made sure everything was filled and no one left hungry! Everything was clean and the staff was friendly and very accommodating.
Management (Dale & wife) are amazing; make you feel like family. Rooms always clean. Staff will go out of way to fix any issues. Close to Cumberland Lake (Beavercreek Marina specifically). Recommended place to stay!
I had a blast. Everyone was friendly and the room was nice. The only thing we noticed was that there were spots of blood on our towels and bed sheets so we went and purchased our own. Other than that it was fantastic
Hotel was clean and quiet, bed was comfortable! That's always a plus for me. Although I didn't use the pool it was clean. The room was spacious and seating comfortable. Breakfast is typical, powdered eggs, not very good anywhere.
very clean, great breakfast and very helpfull and nice employees. pool was very clean and warm as it was below 0 outside.very warm and cozy fireplace in lobby.the lady in charge even gave vmy kids some muffins to snack on on the way home.will stay again
I was in this area for 3 nights and checked out on 1/4/17. First, the hotel staff were so nice and considerate and were always will to help. The breakfast was great. The housekeeping staff were above par also. The only complaint that I had was regarding the two rooms that were up from me on my last night. These two rooms were evidently together and were rude to the staff and loud. I could guess that they were probably drunk and had no consideration for others. The front desk staff were very kind about the situation and I appreciate that. This is not a complaint about the hotel but to other travelers. Please be considerate of other travelers and staff that work hard to make each persons stay comforatable.
First off I will start by saying I am super picky about where I will stay.. Staff was very friendly, room was clean, bed/pillows were comfy, and plenty of room for our hunting stuff. Only complaint is no microwave, but that isn't a reason to give it less than 5 stars. I would definitely stay here again if visiting Monticello or surrounding areas. Great trip! Be sure to check out Black Stallion Steak House if you are in the area. Best food in town and plenty of options!
Stayed a night here while passing through with a friend. The staff were friendly and beds were clean. However, there were white spots on the sink backsplash (toothpaste from previous guest???) and paint was peeling off the wall in spots. I could clearly hear shower, sink, and cell phone from neighboring room. I would stay hear again if need be seeing there isn't many other options. I would recommend eating breakfast elsewhere because it wasn't very good as much of the hot food was cold.
Friendly staff, very clean rooms. Breakfast was the normal fare of sausage, biscuits, gravy, and eggs. Very quiet and comfortable hotel. It has an indoor pool but we were so tired we didn't use it. Would definitely stay here again.
very clean and employes very nice and helpfull.will stay there every time we are in the area food is great pool is very nice and the outside of the building is very nice and you feel safe while you are there
This is our another trip to go visit Lake Cumberland Area. Front desk agent was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, the linens were new and looked like house keeper has kept room very clean. This hotel is not exceptional but it had everything we needed. Breakfast was very nice. Specially scrambled eggs was so good. Unfortunately there are not many restaurants in town.
Called to ask for a reservation. Put on hold for seven minutes. When he finally came to the phone he was very rude. Stated I had not been on hold that long. Stated he had only three rooms left and he had people in line that might want them. If it is taking him that long to check people in, someone needs to help him. Very rude. My husband called back to tell him he needs to not talk rude to potential customers. He became so rude my husband hung up on him. Would never recommend this motel only based on his lack of customer service.
Nice, clean and comfortable hotel, convenient to activities near Lake Cumberland. Zach at the front desk is wonderful and extremely helpful! Would definitely recommend staying at this hotel if you are in area.
This is our first time visit to the area. This location was so close to Conley bottom marina. The staff was so nice and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and will stay again if come back. We enjoyed our breakfast specially scrambled eggs were so nice. There is not much to do in the area so we stayed only one night instead of two.
Hopefully management is able to turn this hotel around before the other big guns come to town! Currently the BW is on the upper end of hotels available in the area and as such is busy most of the time. However they are building a courtyard and other recognizable hotel brands in the are and unless there are a lot of fixes this hotel will go down hill. The first two rooms we were given had a very strong smoke odor which we found odd as this is a non smoking hotel. About 10 minutes after we received our third room a group walked down the hall SMOKING and it was apparently no big deal to employees. The pool was ice cold and it was almost 100 degress outside so something was wrong there as well! Overall it is very difficult to find the good for this stay, but I will say the morning crew was much more pleasant than the evening crew!
The Best Western is still the only place we stay in Monticello. For the past three years the new owners have put a lot of time and money into making this a very comfortable and accommodating place to stay. The Manager, Bail, is one of the hardest working, nicest people I've ever met, no kidding. If you need something, just ask and they will do their best to satisfy you ... The rooms are modern and very clean. The breakfast buffet is better than most even though the dining room is too small when the hotel is well booked and the paper plates could be of higher quality. Sure there are cheaper options but if you want a quality place to stay, I'd book the Best Western.
We quite like Best Westerns so were happy to book a night here. At breakfast, which was very good, we noticed that the receptionist kept leaving the front desk to check that all was fine in the breakfast room. When you have a manager taking this much interest in the good running of the hotel you know you have made a good choice.
We stayed at this hotel as it was close to Conley Bottom where other family members where camping and we would be boating. The hotel manager of the hotel was very accommodating and friendly. The hotel staff in general where very friendly. The only negative is on a busy weekend the area for breakfast is a bit small and can get crowded. But despite the large crowd they hotel staff made sure there was never a lack of breakfast items. They always made sure everything was available and fresh. I would stay at this hotel in the future and would recommend it to others.
evereything was great.staff very friendly and helpfull and the manager even gave my wife some muffins for the road trip home that she said to him was very good.will stay again.ypu cant find anything wrong with this place!
This hotel was extremely nice and pleasant for a stay after boating at Lake Cumberland. The room was wonderful, the staff very nice, and the included breakfast very good and filling. Would stay here again!
An excellent place to stay whether business, pleasure or visiting beautiful Lake Cumberland. The staff is very friendly and make every effort to provide an excellent and quiet atmosphere. Rooms are neat and clean and breakfast is provided.
The room was clean, and smelled fresh. The only complaint I had was the air conditioner. Woke up in the middle of the night and the room was a little warm and stuffy. Not sure the AC was working properly.
We were on a motorcycle trip and decided to stop in Monticello for the night. The place was well kept, rooms clean and neat, bed and pillows perfect. The staff was friendly and provided excellent service. The best hotel on this trip. And one of the best we have stated at in several years.
Best Westerns are about the only place I'll stay when on a leisure trip... The rooms and facility are always clean and well kept... The staff is always friendly and willing to go the extra step to make my stay relaxed and trouble free. Breakfast is always hot and rarely do you have to wait for more to be re-plenteous.
Clean, plenty of towels, and great breakfast, pool, fitness room. The best place in town to stay unless you have family. Staff is friendly and happy to help with any questions or concerns you may have. Close to downtown Monticello, Kentucky
Nice clean room. Very comfortable stay. I was actually staying on a fishing trip. They had plenty of parking for boats and also have good hookups to charge your batteries. I would definitely recommend this for a stay. I don't think you will be disappointed.
the pros...The hotel staff was courteous and helpful, if we needed anything they were right there to assist us. The breakfast was good and fresh. The rooms were nice and clean and so was the pool area. the cons...The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. exterior of the hotel could use a good going over. the grass needed cut BAD.
My recent stay of three nights was comfortable. I stayed in a handicapped accessible room. The room was spacious and clean. The front desk staff were very friendly and accommodating. The pool was a little chilly but clean and the fitness center was very good. My only complaint was inconsistency of the free wifi.
CLEAN, CLEAN CLEAN!!! The staff was genuinely friendly and extremely helpful. The mattresses on the beds were the best mattresses I have ever slept on in a motel, hotel, cabin, etc. When in our room, we did not hear any noise from anywhere. The breakfast was out standing. We had a wide variety of choices at breakfast and the scrambled eggs were tremendous!!!!! The hotel is right on Route 90 as you come into town so it was very easy to find. Check in and check out were speedy. AGAIN I SAY CLEAN, CLEAN CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN!!!!!!!
The staff went above and beyond to make this the best stay! Room was clean and a great space. Kids enjoyed the pool and I enjoyed the relaxing area. The breakfast was above what I had expected. I will stay again!!
This is a great place to stay. The rooms are a good size and offer usual amenities. Staff responded positively to requests. We had a restful night. The breakfast was sufficient. Requests for improvements was met with immediate response.
I made the reservation on line, got to the hotel and was greeted by friendly staff and room was King bed and clean. Breakfast was standard and was hot and good. Everyone at Hotel was friendly and when I asked for directions knew where I was going and helped me get there thru the local streets. It was all good.
We stayed in the king Jacuzzi non smoking suite. We attended a funeral for my father-in-law and was then trapped by 1/2 inch of ice and 18 inches of snow. The staff couldn't have been any better. Even though most of the restaurants were closed they talked the local Papa John's to deliver pizza to the hotel even though they weren't delivering. The police delivered chicken and fixings the worst day. The hotel staff on several occasions were shoveling snow to make paths to vehicles and helped get people unstuck. The breakfast was the best I've ever had in a hotel. We will never stay anywhere but the Best Western Lake Cumberland Inn in Monticello when we are in town. Go Dermesh and staff!!!!!
this was my second trip using this hotel. My first was for a funeral, but since the stay was so go here I came back for a pleasure stay when I returned. The hotel is always clean, friendly Staff are always willing to assist with anything I have needed.
I spend 300 nights a year in motels. The rate the staff and the service can not be beat. This was the best Motel Ever The Staff went completely overboard trying to insure that my family had everything they needed
My husband and I stayed at this hotel for the first time in many years. It's former owner let it go to ruin - awful. It has been completely renovated and is once again a clean and comfortable place to stay. Breakfast was welcome, the gym has new equipment and the pool looked inviting. The furnishings in the room were very nice - comfy bed! We are so happy not to have to drive back and forth from Somerset. I can once again highly recommend this hotel.
My wife and I travel to Monticello a number of times a year to visit family. We normally stay in Somerset, but we were told that the Best Western in Monticello was under new management and was worth trying. During check in, the person at the front desk was adequate but not overly enthusiastic (or helpful). We were immediately hit with a strong chemical smell (presumably from cleaning products) throughout the hotel. We stayed in room 103, and found mold around the bathroom floor near the tub. The most alarming thing, however, was what appeared to be black mold on the window treatments directly over the HVAC (which would blow the mold spores throughout the room). I'm not sure if it is even safe to stay in the room under those conditions. See photos.
Not my first visit here and everything was again, outstanding. Excellent facility and exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast is always well stocked. The rooms and beds are clean and comfortable. Keep up the good work1
This is a very clean hotel and rooms are very nice. Breakfast is very great selection and was Great! Hotel staff "Zach" was very hospitable and wanted to make sure my stay was great! Rooms were very clean and updated. The beds were great. I had the best rest in a long time.
The traveler may stay here without any hesitance. There are not many quality options in this area, and Best Western's room pricing structure reflects their awareness of that, but it is a nice hotel. Decor is pleasing and well maintained. Their staff are courteous and professional. They have a better than average breakfast bar offering hot waffles, eggs, biscuits and gravy. A small workout room and indoor pool is there to provide some physical outlet. i'm cheap, so the price aggravated me a bit, but otherwise it was a great place to stay.
Hotel is clean and has been updated in the last year. Rooms are clean and well kept. The beds are extremely comfortable, linens/spreads are clean and one of the best nights sleep my husband and I have had. Staff is very friendly and makes you feel that you are at home.
Great hotel! Hot breakfast, indoor pool, exercise room, free wifi and personable staff. Spent the night before house boating on Lake Cumberland. Very close to Lake Cumberland with grocery stores for purchasing food for the coolers. Hotel allowed us to fill coolers with ice.
This is a moderately dated, clean, comfortable facility. Nothing fancy, but fits the bill for an overnight stay. The pool looked inviting, but we did not use it due to time constraints. Our room was adequate. The breakfast was adequate as well. The staff members were extremely helpful. We had questions and they had answers and suggestions.
A++ As always, a very pleasant stay! Friendly staff, clean rooms, a decent breakfast, and usually we can check in early most of the time which is nice. Feels like family when we are there as much as we are!
