Well maintained and very clean property. Would definitely stay there again when in the area. Dinning area well maintained and very clean, the breakfast attendant promptly replenished items and kept the area spick and span, she was awesome.
My wife and I checked in here only to find that the room had no light bulbs in any of the lights. The person on duty tried to find us some and said that the owner hides them. When she had no luck finding any we were offered a refund, but she said we would have to call the manager the next morning to get it. We called, after going to another hotel, and she told us that she would not give us a refund. They have quite a scam going ! BEWARE !!!!
I needed a place to stay on trip along highway 14 and chose the BW, which far exceeded my expectations. Place has a nice hot tub with good muscle relaxing jets, and I was surprised how nice the breakfast was. It had the usual scrambled eggs, toast, and cereal, and some extra niceties like the waffle machine, yogurt machine (never saw one of these in a hotel breakfast) and one of my favorites, biscuits and gravy. Only drawbacks are the noise of the trains )inevitable in Mojave) and annomotion sensor activated lights in the bathroom.
I hadn't planned on staying in Mojave, California bcus it's an old desert town & kind of scary at night for a solo female traveler. However, I was really tired & decided to book. The hotel is really clean inside & out. The night lighting is really cool & the parking lot is very well lit. The train comes through overnight —personally, I love the sound & can sleep with it, others might need ear plugs. LOL!
This pet friendly hotel is a great place to stay on a road trip. Granted the surroundings are a bit industrial, but it was very quiet at night. The room was perfect as it had just been renovated. The hotel staff was very sweet and the room rates were great. Some places charge $75 a night for a pet. This hotel charged $20. That makes it truly pet friendly. It's not a luxury hotel, but it was clean, comfortable and pet-friendly. Great for a night on the road.
The staff are so friendly and helpful. If I need anything, like an extra blanket or something doesn't work, they take care of it. I stay here a lot on business trips and they all remember me, so when I check in it feels like coming home. When I am working, it's nice not to have to worry about breakfast. They have the best hot breakfast with something for every taste. They are nearly always able to get me my preferred room location.
Day 3 of traveling and staying in hotels on our way to a vacation stay. This hotel has updated rooms that are nicely done and very clean. After one "so-so" and another "never again" stays, this was most welcome. It's a really nice facility overall with a pool, hot tub and breakfast room. The staff member in charge of the breakfast area was stellar - very friendly and kept everything spotless and well stocked.
My wife and needed a nice, clean, comfortable place to stay after a long journey and this place met our needs outstandingly. The staff was friendly, the pool and spa were clean and in good working order - we loved our stay there in Mojave.
Room was unbearably HOT. High temperature that day was 113, under a Heat advisory. We had to sleep on top of the sheets. Everything was hot to touch. Cannot believe that no one thought to turn air on ahead of time. A miserable night. Did not rest well.
Clean room. Nice breakfast. The location feels like an oasis in a desert when you arrive from the East, e.g. Death Valley. We particularly liked that there was a table with two chairs where we could have dinner in our room.
Room was clean and comfortable but we did not sleep well! The AC unit stays on constantly…there is no auto setting that checks the room temperature to determine if it's needed - therefore the room was hot when we went to bed and freezing by morning! The jets and trains woke us up all night too…and we were located in the rear building so I'd imagine car traffic is also issue for rooms up front. The pool was frigid even though it was in 90s outside (in early June). There is no elevator so we had to carry up all our luggage…I mentioned to front desk that was issue when he told me I was on 2nd floor but he said they're doing construction in front area so that was all they had.
From the first call to see if the rooms were available to checking out the hospitality was above par. This hotel represents the best western brand and what they stand for. The rooms are clean and quiet. There is a separate dining area with a fantastic breakfast. Every individual I encountered had a smile and hello. Dwayne the hotel clerk will go above and beyond to ensure you have a great stay.
Small rooms, no towel bar near the sink. Nothing to do in the neighborhood. Clean. Pool and hot tub are both outdoors, and the climate is harsh. Cold winters, hot summers. The property seems poorly thought out.
This hotel has a very nice hot tub. If you have to stay in Mojave, you could do much worse than this. The breakfast was great with many different options and a really nice waffle maker, fresh yogurt dispenser and very helpful staff. The front desk clerk was very helpful and friendly. Great experience overall!
Easy check-in. Room was clean and comfortable. Decent breakfast selection. TV was not working... second time this happened at this location. They tried to fix it, but still did not work. They offered to switch rooms, but I was already settled in.
After a blowout and being stranded outside Mojave, and AAA unable to get us towed - we arrived after four hours sitting by the side of the road as the moon rose. We scored a tow truck and he brought our car (and us) to this Best Western. At reception, we weren't acknowledged initially (although she could see the tow and our pile of luggage at the entrance). Eventually, she gave us a room - the furthest one from the lobby. I asked for a rolling trolley for our stuff (four bags and a full ice chest). She said she didn't have one. But, on my last trip bringing all the stuff to the room, I saw the trolley in the room next to the lobby... The room was clean, but old. The refrigerator was a generous size. The AC, as in all hotels, shut off in the middle of the night, so it was uncomfortably warm. Breakfast was an unimpressive but clean and inviting array of the usual: pastries, scrambled eggs, bacon, yogurt, fruit. Would I choose to return? No.
I've stayed here twice and this Best Western appears consistent. Rooms are clean, property is clean and secure. The staff was polite, helpful and put me in a room that for a solo woman traveler was safe. The breakfast had a variety of hot items as well as the bagels, cereal etc. I would honestly recommend this best western property to travelers.
It was clean and close to where I had to go the next day. The breakfast was warm and I had a lot to pick from. Juices, milk, and coffee. All types of bread plus fresh fruit I could take with me for a snack later in the day.
Excellent BW location. Pool, nice breakfast, large comfortable rooms, pet friendly and EV car charger available. Lots of places to eat and visit during stay. Staff are very friendly and attentive. They even include a form in the room to report any defects to housekeeping or engineering. Wow!
Easily the nicest place in Mojave, which is a city not known for its elegant accommodations and eateries. Room was large, clean and surpassed our expectations. We're talking Mojave, folks. Two doors down from a clean, pleasant Denny's restaurant, with a decidedly smaller menu. Breakfast (free) at the motel was more than adequate in a clesn, separate building adjacent to check-in. Definitely recommend this place if you're planning a stay in Mojave.
Don't stay at this motel if you're interested in either sleep or rest. Apparently, the place cares more about local and visiting partygoers than renting rooms to travelers. And those groups like to play music as loud as possible from their set-ups a few feet from the rooms. Even the overly loud air conditioner cannot drown out the relentless beat and music. Calls to question and complain are met with indifference and the news that this can go on until at least 10 pm when the pool closes. Except even that isn't true. The yelling, screaming and loud music didn't stop until 11:15 pm. Want to get to sleep early? Good luck. The biggest mystery here is how in the world this qualifies as a “Best Western.”
We enjoyed our time there with our family. Never stayed at a Best western before but we will definitely book there again! The room was very clean and the shampoo and conditioner products in the shower where very nice especially when you forget to pack that, finally a hotel who gives you more shampoo and conditioner!
I ride dirt bikes in Jawbone Canyon Recreation Area. It's nice to go to a clean and well appointed room for a hot shower and a good rest. The staff was very friendly and the room was very clean. Good place to stay.
At first look you know it's an older hotel, but the rooms and great, possibly recently remodeled. The staff very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was great with a good selection. I would definitely stay again it was a good value
We stayed at the Best Western Desert Winds on a trip from Death Valley National Park on our way to Southern California. The hotel was comfortable--good bed and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful and recommended a restaurant nearby. The breakfast had a great selection with cold and hot items. People were friendly. The only drawback was that the hotel was right across the street from the railroad--trains ran during the night. If you didn't bring earplugs, the front desk had some for free. I had my own as I usually wear them in hotels, so this wasn't a problem. My husband didn't have ear[plugs and slept fine. This was the best hotel in Mojave and would stay there again,
The motel was clean and their furniture was comfortable and functional but a bit outdated. It had all the usual amenities including a small frig and microwave and the “usual BW breakfast.” The train was just across the highway and went by fairly frequently and was quite loud. It did not bother us but it may be a problem for people who don't like noise. (They actually gave disposable earplugs out when we checked in. ) The area was a little rundown and there were a few homeless walking around.- but they did not bother us. The front office staff, Margie and Karen were very friendly and efficient.
We thougt this B/W was pretty good. They have 2 buildings; we asked for a quiet room and were put into the 'back' building so the trains (many trains) were not much of an issue. The room was clean and quite comfortable. The heater/AC worked well; king bed was a bit 'soft' for our tastes but was fine. Good WI-FI and TV with multiple choices. Breakfast had scrambled eggs and sausage and cereals and muffins etc, Given the current situation the breakfast was more than adequate. We would stay here again.
I needed internet so i could play video games with my son who was still at home - i promised. The hotel staff went above and beyond ensuring i had it, even giving me an ethernet cable to direct connect! I had never experienced this luxurious attention before and it was worth not going for the cheaper hotel! The internet wasn't that good, but with the ethernet, at least it was consistent. I well always be looking for this best Western when I'm back in town!
It was a good stay. We had everything that we needed for our trip. We were there for construction work nearby and it was perfect for that. We will definitely be staying here in the future for any work we have near the area.
We stayed one night on a cross-country trip visiting family.. The Desert Winds was a very pleasant stop on our 3,000 mile trip. The Front Desk Staff was very efficient, and provided outstanding service. The office had a glass case with Air Force planes reflected the base nearby. We were especially pleased with the breakfast ares that was very clean and suitable for social distancing. The breakfast included scrambled eggs and sausage.
Hotel is well named; there is a reason the whole area is covered in windmills! The place was clean, friendly, and available. If hauling luggage up narrow stairs with 2 turns is a problem be sure to ask for a ground floor. Dine in restaurants just starting to reopen. The Mexican restaurant (new?) a few blocks to the south was great. The hotel is till serving Grab & Go breakfast – Hell in a handbag.
I was on a camping trip when weather conditions caused me to make a change in plans. I called Best Western from my tent in a rain storm with very high winds. They helped me make a reservation in Mojave California. The room was, as always, great. Clean, A comfortable chair, good shower, coffee maker, television with HBO. I can recommend this motel to anyone looking for a good place to stay in Mojave.
A surprisingly quite room due to the busy location of this hotel. And the welcoming was very warm. Really felt welcome. Nice and well kept room. Very clean. As always in Best Western, a good bed. The grab and go breakfast was unfortunately not very special, but it was still better than what many others preserve in these days. I recommend this hotel for people that need a place to stay in Mojave.
The women that worked at the front desk were helpful but the guy that work in the morning kept shorting us on our items in the breakfast bags. If you are use to large pillows better bring your own, there's are 18 inch squares. You can hear the people walking in the room above yours.
Great front desk. Helpful and friendly. The room seemed clean and bed was comfy but it desperately needs to be updated. Furniture old and worn, towels thin and gray and bath fixtures appeared original.
I'm a big fan of Best Western in general. Having never stayed at this particular location, you always wonder what to expect. The general appearance of the facility was well kept and the staff are very helpful. As someone who spends over 250 nights a year in a hotel, you learn that the bathroom is an overall indication of how well the rest of your stay will be. The Desert Wind in Mojave has an exceptional housekeeping staff apparently. The bathroom was absolutely spotless. True to form, the rest of my stay was excellent as well.
This is a well-kept facility. The staff are really nice. I am a female staying alone in Mojave but I feel safe at this hotel. Rooms are like any other nice hotel or Hilton Garden Inn, etc. Very clean, and they have made accommodations due to COVID to ensure guests are protected.
There isn't much that the hotel management could do better really, but I would not recommend staying here. The biggest problem is just that it's far too loud to get a good night's sleep: the AC was loud for one, but even more so the constant noise of trains going by all night kept me awake. The area also felt sketchy. That being said, the staff was professional and competent, the room was clean (if nothing fancy), the check-in / check-out experience was adapted well for COVID, the hotel was pet-friendly, etc. So like I said, it's not that they're doing anything wrong, the hotel is just in a bad location too close to the train tracks. Stay in a different town instead of Mojave if you want to get a good night's sleep.
I was quoted one price and then charged more when I got there. The door key wouldn't work so I had to get the front desk let me in. I will not stay here again even if I have to sleep in the car or at a motel 6.
Mrs Jennifer Rivera,Asst Manager very polite and friendly in our check in. My room very clean, everything works very well. Bathroom very clean. Hot tub works and clean. Breakfast many options, very good. Rate a little expensive, but ok.
Don't go to the Best Western in California City the Manger Nimisha Patel needs customer service classes. Doesn't know how to treat customer and lies to corporate. Breakfast in Mojave was one of the better ones.
This BW is just okay. We chose it because they are pet friendly. The next closest BW in Lancaster (?) did not so I won't complain too much as they fit the bill for our needs in the moment. Observations: our sheets were threadbare, literally worn in spots. Stained carpet in the room. Most notable, there's a train that runs literally every 30 minutes in front of the hotel. If you've got ear plugs, that'll work, if not, it's harsh. The breakfast was average but the employee who staffed it was very attentive.
The rooms are not clean, step out of your room to cigarette smoke, dangerous steps to second floor, water pressure is weak, the heat/ac unit must be on centigrade, if you do stay skip the breakfast and the building is old, old, old.
The rooms are decorated in a modern style and are kept very clean. I'm happy to find such a great place to stay in Mojave while on business travel. Bed and pillows are super comfortable. Coffee in room.
After a below average dinner at Denny's (Poor selection nearby) we retire to room to notice entry door is extremely warped at bottom allowing wind and sound to penetrate room. Between the semis and trains rumbling through all night, and the wind whistling through the door at 5 am, sleep was poor at best. Took a pic and showed front desk, who called in asst mgr who seemed very unsympathetic. I felt a room rate reduction was in order, she replies, “you have a pet”. Adds that to room then discounts to original amount. The pet could have been easily been forgiven, plus a rate discount and I would have left tired but satisfied. Very evident the almighty dollar was more important than customer satisfaction. Lousy disgusting experience, most unhappy with Best Western.
This is a great 1/2 trip point to stop for the night as we continue our trip. The hotel is a nice place to stay, helpful people, clean and usually no problems or complaints. We are snowbirds and make this trip back and forth at least once a season, sometimes twice. We always stay at a Best Western because we know we will have a nice comfortable room to rest in after a long day of traveling.
Everything about the property is really good - rooms are clean and comfortable, beds and pillows very good, the receptionists are pleasant, helpful and efficient and the breakfast has good variety and plenty of tables and space.
When you book ahead and factor in a free breakfast and quality of the room, you are really getting a good deal for the are compared to staying anywhere else in Mojave, CA. To each their own though and if traveling alone, I would probably take lesser accommodations. Depends on what you want out of your stay. Since I travel with someone, I prefer more decent accommodations like the Best Western chain over Choice Hotels nowadays. Enjoy your stay if you stay at this location. I did.
a very well kept older hotel with remodeled freshly painted rooms, very helpful staff, clean rooms, nice seperate building breakfast area with nice hot & cold buffet. nice outdoor pool & hot tub by the office
I chose Best Western due to my knowledge of good value. I always stay at any Best Western during my travels and have never been disappointed. They provide free wifi, clean rooms with amenities that are important to me. Mostly, I know I will wake up and enjoy a delicious breakfast with a good variety of options that includes hot food, not the continental-only-breakfast offered at most hotels.
Unable to find a room with queen size beds in Mojave with another well-known chain for our family's US road trip, I booked with BW as we had had previous good experiences with them in Europe. Notwithstanding some description/booking process inconsistencies with the BW (and consolidator) websites I was able to book what I wanted and was pleasantly surprised by the price/quality/facilities combination we experienced versus what we were looking for..
We stopped at this property on our drive to Anaheim to visit Disneyland. There are 5 of us so we were given a room with 2 queen beds and a sofa bed. The room was a bit cramped and the air conditioner had not been on so it was extremely hot in the room despite it being about 9:30 pm. We had to turn the anemic air conditioner on high and leave the door and window open to cool the room. It took some time to cool things off. To top things off we had a giant roach in the room that scared my youngest daughter and took a while to corner and crush. The room was dated and relatively clean. The breakfast was in a separate building and adequate. The staff was friendly and apologetic for the room and roach.
Get Room and thoroughly clean! You will see lots of Trains but we were in the back building and the sound was faint! Hold on to your hats not your Wallet! Great price from Room! Came into Mojave on Motorcycles!
I have family and friends who live in the Antelope Valley so I venture into the area frequently for visits. This is the first time I have stayed at this Best Western and won't be the last. I chose it for it's convenience and will stay again for it's service. I was pleasantly surprised that the staff was so friendly and welcoming at check in. The rooms were a little on the small side, but clean and comfortable. The breakfast was typical hotel breakfast. I was just happy to have a hot, fresh meal in the morning. The first two mornings they offered sausage and on the last day they offered bacon, which I am partial to. My kids enjoyed their waffles, cereal and fruit. The only issue I had while staying here, was while we were at the pool with our kids. I went into the front office to ask for pool towels, and the front desk clerk said that she would go ahead and grab them. She then came out to the pool to hand us our towels and proceeded to ask for our room number. Now, I've worked not only in customer service, but have worked in the hotel industry for years...and that was highly unprofessional. It made us feel as if we did not belong and that maybe we were just trying to get a free swim in a random pool. Perhaps that is something that they deal with, but regardless, the front office staff should never ask a guest for their room number, and instead ask for their last name....or better yet, just hand them the towels and tell them to have a good day. However rude that was, it did not ruin our stay or ruin the fact that we will most likely choose this hotel again in the future. We enjoyed our stay look forward to our next visit.
Super-clean, next door to Denny's, very satisfying hot buffet style breakfast, close to Red Rock Canyon State Park, good service, right on Hwy. 14, but not noisy. Ample parking, pool and spa looked clean and updated.
Wanting 3 nights in the area to catch the wildflower bloom this place was perfect as it's midway between The CA State Poppy Reserve and Red Rock Canyon State Park, the two places on my list. Due to some unforeseen delays my arrival was very late. I called to reassure them I was coming & there was no problem. A friendly face greeted me at my 9:30 pm arrival. The first floor room I'd requested had already been assigned. I got a full explanation of the motel & the amenities, like the breakfast location & hours. My key card case bore my WiFi password so I couldn't lose it. Room was fresh & clean, breakfast was decent with a good variety, maid service was complete. TV choices were good. My room was nestled in on both sides & above by other rooms, I barely heard the trains they never intruded. WiFi was good. Checkout was easy, a friendly departure.
The rooms are large and clean. The staff is friendly and willing to make your stay enjoyable. The complimentary breakfast is managed by a woman who takes her job seriously. The food is good and the place very clean. The only possible drawback is the proximity of the very busy train tracks.
Good place to stop for the night and rest. Trains are a bit noisy, but they hand out ear plugs at front desk. Rooms are clean, and breakfast has lots of options to fill you up for the road. I'll stay there again.
Was very pleasant very clean rooms nice breakfast the girl at the desk was so pleasant And very helpful would stay there again going to recommend best Western to all my friends Nice TVs plenty of parking
I choose to stay at BW especially on the road because I trust this brand for its uniform quality and delivery. Its always safe, clean and pillows are so comfy. Many amenities and features that makes your stay pleasant such as breakfast, fridge, microwave, fresh room, & more.
Was certainly expecting something more. Room colors were AWFUL. Somehow we ended up with a handicapped room, so no tub of course. Incredibly noisy. Trains all night long, people coming in at midnight clomping back and forth and yelling at each other, air conditioner noise all night long, so bring your earplugs if you want to get any sleep. Coffee maker only makes ONE CUP OF COFFEE AT A TIME. What's up with that???? No light over the bathroom sink, so put on makeup in shadows. Poor husband had to shave in the shadows. No kleenex in the bathroom. No outlets to plug in chargers for phones. On a bright note, breakfast was ok, and the staff was certainly pleasant enough.
I would prefer to stay in tehachapi and drive the extra miles. It is a better city than Mojave and have better hotels. If you must stay in Mojave, Best western is the only good option. Breakfast is okay. Parking space is good and plenty. Internet is not so good. Sometimes is is very slow. No power sockets near the bed!!
This is a good motel in Mojave. The place is older and shows a bit of wear, but the staff was wonderful and check-in was simple. Room was clean; too close to the airport to be quiet. I have to say it's not as nice as the one in California City, so if you have a choice, and want something a little nicer, go with that one, but this one is perfectly fine. Breakfast was good.
We often stay at Best Western properties and this was the location we were looking for as a starting point to our road trip to Sequoia and Yosemite National Parks. There aren't a lot of choices in Mojave. This motel was fine, but not nearly as nice as we're used to finding. The front desk clerk was very friendly and efficient, but the first room we got did not have a functional refrigerator. She moved us to the room next door and it was fine.
It's expensive by Mojave standards, but it's also the nicest. I know, I know, that isn't saying much... but you do get what you pay for if you want a simple, clean, powerful A/C, and decent water pressure. From what other places charge you're always missing at least one of those, which isn't great...
The check-in was quick and easy. The person at the desk helped me find some place to eat. The room was nice and clean. We slept well and were comfortable. The breakfast the next morning was good and filling. Check out was easy and hassle free.
The choices in Mohave are limited and this is probably the best. And it's ok, and fairly quiet. But that's it. Nice staff. Pet friendly. Cheap and a good value. A little off the main road but not far.
Mojave is not a vacation town buts we go through the small desert town when we drive from Santa Rosa, to Phoenix. The motel is as good as it gets. Very good beds, clean, good breakfast. We will continue to stay here maybe 4 times a year.
Jewel of a motel in the High Desert town of Mojave. We were surprised this fine motel was in Mojave. Will definitely stay here the next time we are in the Edwards AFB Area. Dogs are extra and we paid $10 for each of our dogs. Very nearby there is a Denny's, several fast food places and gas stations.
good motel, ..........room was clean and quiet .....breakfast was fair opening earlier would be better for people that want to start early in the morning ....service was great, people were k knowledgeable and very friendly
We selected this hotel as it was equidistant from Redding to Sedona. Mojave is home to a airline graveyard and acres and acres of wind turbines. Understandably so. The wind was blowing non stop, and the turbine arms were turning. This hotel is an older property with room doors opening to outdoor halls. We were traveling with dogs, and the rooms were clean and the staff attentive when we checked in. Dining options are limited here, but we used yelp and discovered a really good Thai restaurant not far. We were pleasantly surprised. The "fenced" area for the pet area could use some attention. We drove thru Tehachapi on the way up from Bakersfield to Mojave, and I would be tempted to check out the Tehachapi location next time through. This motel had carpeted floors, and with pet rooms I prefer hard services. Our pets are reliably house trained, but hard floors seem cleaner for those who may not be.
A little pricey but a good sleep and great, free breakfast. Bring your earplugs, the train is across the street. Walking distance to eating places. If you have a reason to be in Mojave, this will fit the bill for a good night sleep. I wear earplugs so the train didn't bother me.
If you are visiting town to work at the airport then this is a great place to stay. The rooms are clean and nice, the hot tub was a lovely addition and the breakfast was tasty. The location was a perfect distance to the airport.
Stopped here because Barstow was just too far to go after a long days drive from Sacramento. The gal at the desk couldn't have been nicer. She put us in the back building as far away from the train noise as you can get. The room was nicely decorated and had the micro and refer that we needed. The vanity and sink were part of the bedroom, tub and toilet were in their own room. Everything was clean and the beds were comfortable. TV worked well, didn't use the internet. 4 stars because there were precious few outlets (I had to plug my phone in an outlet behind the mattress) and the train noise. No usb ports by the nightstand or anywhere else. The wind howled so hard that it shook our door and we were in a back corner. I had read reviews about the train noise but forgot that consideration when we decided to stay in Mojave. Oh boy, the train is literally a block away, across the street from the driveway entrance to the hotel. Breakfast was really good. Fresh scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, the soft and almost gooey cinnamon rolls with raisins and the rest of the usual stuff you find at a BW. I usually avoid the 'fake' eggs that are so common in complementary breakfasts, but if they weren't fresh eggs we sure didn't know it. We had an upstairs unit so can't speak to the footsteps above us. It's an older buillding, no elevators, all outside entrances.
We stay here every Easter weekend. It is a nice place to stay at in Mojave. We are close to family here. It is a clean and friendly place to stay. The staff are very friendly. The breakfast is very good.
The hotel is on a sadly typical American hideous strip of gas stations, fast food places and one night motels, made worse by the near highway and train tracks. However, the hotel is good, the room we were given was as far away from the noise as possible. It was a good size, comfortable, was pleasantly decorated, and I slept really well. The breakfast was as expected. The prime function for me of a hotel, is the quality of sleep. I slept really soundly.
The front desk personnel is always very helpful. The rooms are very clean and and well put together. we especially enjoy the free breakfast which includes coffee, pastries, waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, orange juice, water, fruit, yogurt and toppings.
Had left Sacramento midday and a long hot day of travel were intending to stay in Mojave - found the off ramp by pure luck! Were hungry and tired tripped ove Denny's and then saw the Desert Winds sing - So pleased we stopped Our room was beside reception and backing on to the road so tired heard NOTHING :). Room was clean and bed comfortable . Up early to travel in the cool, breakfast more than adequate-including boiled eggs yum. Smiley clerk in reception very helpful - Would stay here again
The Desert Winds was a good clean no nonsense motel. The train noise didn't bother me as it did other reviewers and I had a good sleep in a comfortable bed. The bathroom is a bit tired. My only complaint is the fenced dog areas are not secure because the railings are broken off in places. Small issue that might bother some dog owners. The gate to the larger pet area was so stiff I injured my hand opening it. The breakfast was really good. Hot and fresh scrambled eggs! All in all one of the better Best Westerns I've stayed in.
After driving non-stop from northern CA, this BW offers a welcome place to rest and enjoy breakfast too. Due to railroad tracks close-by, trains can disrupt light sleepers. However, hard-working staff will offer ear-plugs on request. All in all when one exits the freeway after non-stop driving, this place offers excellent value without having to drive further into the town looking for a place to stay. Thank you Best Western!
My recent stay at Desert Winds, Mojave, CA. This is a older motel but looked to be clean but. The employees were very helpful at check-in and out. They have a swimming pool and hot tub although I didn't use them. Hi speed Wi-Fi was nice and easy to sign into and that's a plus! Parking lot was small so plan ahead if you need to leave early while parking lot is full limiting maneuverability.
We stayed her as a half way point between Death Valley and Morro Bay. Very friendly check in, we were told hotel had a 2 year renovation programme that was due to end. You could tell, the rooms were very well appointed, bathroom spacious and spotlessly clean - clearly the owner takes great pride. Breakfast included, good coffee and juice . We could hear the train as it rumbled by and I should have asked for earplugs but I was aware of this when I booked so can't complain. If you stay here and need to eat go to the Mojave Thai just 2 minutes away. See separate review.
We got our reservation upgraded to two Queen size beds. Without a doubt the best breakfast we had after 5 nites on the road. Desert Winds is a little off the beaten path, but well worth the short drive for excellent accommodation.
Best in town. Breakfast good. Room clean. No problems at all. Had good pool, hot tub. I am handicapped veteran and appreciated the handicapped parking close to the room. Additionally, room was on first floor, as requested. Most hotels disregard that. Not Best Western
This facility has things we look for for an over night stay, Exterior corridors (parking right outside the room). refridg and micro table and 2 chairs fir eating large tunable tv wash basin and counter outside bathroom comfortable bed very clean
Really enjoy staying at Best Western hotels. The staff was friendly and helpful with restaurant decisions. The room was very clean and made the stay very welcoming and comfortable. I recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the Mojave area. Quick tip: If you'd like to eat at Denny's it's faster to walk!
We had a room on the upper floor way to the east side it was nice and clean and comfortable. They did offer ear plugs at check in but we did not need them way over on the east side. The morning breakfast was nice it had waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and bagels and many other choices. At breakfast we then heard the train go by that was when we were very happy to be on the east side. This hotel was a good value and a nice stay.
Close to Mojave Airfield if you're interested in the 747 aircraft graveyard and Virgin Galactic :) The hotel is older but functional. Breakfast while included finished way too early so we missed it. Finally it's windy here, so there is noise, plus there is a train line close which has heavy loud freight trains passing frequently. If you're a light sleeper take up the offer of ear plugs from front desk.
(sorry for my English) After hours of hiking under hot sun, and after a few hours of drive, my kids really enjoyed the pool (open until 22h) ! I smiled when I heard them say 'it's the perfect world here', even though all the other hotels of our trip were much more expensive, luxurious. Since we came late, the short distance between the check-in counter, the car, the room, the laundry facility and the pool were really appreciated, especially in comparison to the hotel we went after: the gigantic Caesars Palace in Las Vegas (parking to check-in to room to pool: <10 min in BW Mojave and > 90 min in LV). We usually stay in expensive, luxurious hotels (I have a wife, haha). This one was inexpensive, simple, small, but we didn't need anything more (for example, I'm bringing milk and fruits - this hotel had a refrigerator while others, like the one in LV, didn't have one). A wife can be unnecessary costly, haha! Air conditioning was a little bit noisy. This is would probably the only negative thing (and maybe lack of milk at breakfast, IIRC). I really appreciated it. Overall great value, and highly recommended.. PS: The day after we realised my son forgot his favorite plush in the room. My wife called them; we know it was found. Since we just came home from our trip, I didn't do any follow-up, but I'm relatively confident it could be shipped back to Canada.
You won't be staying here for long as it's in the middle nowhere. It's a transit location. This is more of a Motel than hotel. Staff are friendly rooms are large clean and comfortable. It's about an hour to 6 flags and 3-4 hours to Death Valley so it suited us perfectly.
The staff was very friendly & helpful. The only thing that I was not happy with was the comfort of the bed, it was really hard. I really had a hard time getting comfortable and we were only there to sleep for a short time.
This was a good location just off of CA highway 58. Excellent outside appearance. Room was updated and very clean. A very nice breakfast was provided. There weren't a lot of options for dinner within a short distance but many options were available about 10-12 miles away. Would stay here again.
Very friendly staff. We had reservations for 14 people, 5 rooms at another motel in town that didn't workout. The manager gave us a discount on the rooms. They were very comfortable rooms. Breakfast was good. Would stay there again.
Stayed here with my family for a Softball tournament my daughter was in in Lancaster (30 minute drive from the hotel). We decided the $90/might + the 30 minute drive to Lancaster may be better than $200+ per night in a decent hotel in Lancaster. Due to the tournament most hotels were all booked and those that weren't were crappy or overpriced. This hotel was good for the price. We were there in July so it was 110 degrees each day we were there. We left the a/c on all day and the room was nice and cool when we returned. During the down time we used the pool which was great for the kids and really only lacked extra chairs (I think there were 5 total). Breakfast was ok, basic, but enough to grab something to go and they were open at 6am (which helped b/c our first morning we had to be at the field at 6:30). The hotel is easy to get to (right on the 14) and although the train tracks are right across the street, we never heard them. The room was very quiet overall (we were in room 102 which is located right behind the pool and the back wall of which faces the street and the railroad tracks). I would definitely recommend!
A clean, large room in town near restaurants. There is not much to choose from in this little town and this has to be one of the top choices. They have a small pool and an area to wash a car or motorcycle (which was being used by some very nice biker dudes). The breakfast was the general Best Western spread, nothing special but filling. The front staff was very kind and helpful in regard to restaurant suggestions (very limited). Even though the train runs right across the street from the hotel the air conditioner noise drowned it out so no sleep lost. Be sure to ask for the second floor as it can be noisy on the first floor (enter from the outside).
My first impression of this hotel was poor. There are two buildings with two separate parking lots - both old and not very appealing. The room I was in had a depressing brown bedspread and thin sheets, the handicap shower sprayed all over and the soap dispenser was broken. BUT the staff was excellent - very friendly and professional. I quite happy with my stay.
after a 250 mile drive from Vegas it was great to find the hotel so easily...Checked in in minutes . Our room was 105 beside the pool. Standard was up to what is expected from Best Western. It was really nice to have breakfast served in a separate room and not in the lobby as seems to be the case in most places. nothing disturbed our sleep even though the train track is across the street we didn't really hear it. All in all a delightful stay. and a Dennys less than a block away....Mojave does not have a lot to offer but take a ride through the valley of wind turbines to the little town of Tehachapi
Our room was a couple of doors down from the front office, so we expected it to be busy but it was actually quiet. It was a pleasant one-night stay. The front desk staff were nice and breakfast was the usual. Since we headed out early the next day, they took note and prepared us breakfast sandwiches for the road. Apparently it is the best place to stay if your going to a track day Willow Springs. Other attendees who stayed closer to the track were not happy but we satisfied.
We ended up here accidentally, after the hotel at which we had a reservation did not have the type of room we reserved. Everyone at the Best Western Desert Winds was very nice. I enjoyed the pool and wish that I had used it earlier (and more often) during my stay. The breakfast could have used a few more items that are suitable for diabetics (too much bread and sugary items). The AC in our room never cooled it down to below about 85 F, even though we left it running all day and all night and set it on the coolest temperature (60 F). The internet was spotty and didn't work with my iPhone very well at all. These are not major problems. I didn't starve at breakfast. I visited Mojave in the summer because I like the desert and I like heat. I was able to connect with the internet well enough to complete the tasks I needed to complete. Overall I enjoyed my stay and may very well stay here again.
Nice hotel with everything my family needed. The manager went way above the call of duty when our car broke on the way to vacation. He let us stay in the lobby after checkout and wait a few hours for the repair shop to finish fixing our car. After they declared our car dead He gave us a long ride to the next city to pick up a rental car and He allowed us to leave our broken car in the hotel parking lot and pick it up on the way home. It was very hot and the breakfast lady opened the breakfast area so we could get something to drink shortly after breakfast was over. The hotel offers breakfast, wifi and everything else you would expect but the staff was very nice and helped us get thru a miserable start to our vacation. The people working there made us fans of Best Western for life.
Excellent place to stay, don't let the train near by fool you, once your in the room you can't hear the noise plus the train doesn't run but during the day. Mojave is in middle of no where, but enough businesses in town for most of your needs. I recommend Mojave Cafe excellent food and friendly service, there is also Primo Burgers haven't tried it yet, but it's always busy, will visit soon.
This was an excellent rooming experience in Mojave and we did indeed experience some wonderful desert winds. The room was well-appointed, clean and everything in working order. The breakfast was delicious and well-prepared. The only problem was the water pressure was extremely low in the shower making it difficult to get the shampoo and soap off.
We stay at Best Westerns whenever possible and this on is a step above. Clean, well appointed room that looked newly renovated. The staff was friendly and the breakfast had a great selection to choose from. Mojave is off the main highway but this Best Western is worth staying at if you are in the area.
This hotel is well kept up and clean. It's the old style with room doors leading to outside, but looks updated. Everything was clean, functioning, wireless internet was fast, and bed and pillows were comfortable. I travel to Palmdale and Ridgecrest frequently and on this trip both; this hotel is located between these two cities off of the highway.
An absolutely wonderful experience! The customer service was beyond excellent!!!! The employees were exceptional, from our first impression at the front desk to our last encounter upon check out! Thank you
Extremely clean. Breakfast was the usual B/W breakfast but the bacon needed to be drained better but there were plenty of napkins to absorb the excess fat. Checking in Nadia, the pleasant and helpful front desk assistant, noticed that I had a wound on my left hand and asked if I needed some bandages. I told her I just needed directions to Walmart, Walgreen's and CVS to which she informed me that none of these establishments in Mojave. I took her up and the first aid supplies and was able to stabilize my wound. Thanks Nadia.
While traveling to the Mojave Preserve in California we loved staying at this Desert Winds Best Western. The staff is great and the rooms are excellent and kept up. Breakfast the next morning is what most travelers would be happy with. Will be staying again whle driving through on our way in that direction.
The staff was friendly and helpful, the room clean and comfortable, and price very easy to reconcile. I'd happily recommend it as a stopover - perhaps as a way to visit Red Rock State Park without a tent.
We had driven up and down the main boulevard trying to find accommodations. All appealing hotels were filled up. After a short diversion to a side street - voila! Terrible wind event was in progress and we were happy to find a vacancy. We were assigned a great room on the first level. Had I made this reservation in advance, it just couldn't have been better. Thank you for your kindness in serving two very tired senior citizens. If ever we are your way again, there is no doubt we will book into the Desert Wind. Thank you!
Checked in at the end of a long days drive. The town looked like a usual military base town. A couple of burger places and plenty of places to buy booze. Overall, kind of seedy looking town with not much going on. That is unless you like trains, planes and emergency equipment sirens. There is a rail yard right across the main street in front of the motel and a well traveled street going behind it as well. Train noise, sirens and loud cars all night long. If you mention it at the front desk they will offer a free pair of ear plugs and you will be politely told how well they work for a good nights sleep in their rooms. However, the rooms, bathrooms are clean and tidy, well maintained and comfortable.
Stopped in late at night weary and tired. Pleasant staff. Easy check in and check out. Large, clean and very well appointed rooms. Comfortable mattress. Complimentary breakfast was served till 9 am and helped myself to a cup of coffee for the road. Certainly the best choice for miles around!
Awesome stay, stopped late night, check-in went well, Ricardo was very helpful, breakfast item presentation was awesome, super selection. Second time staying at this hotel, staff is the reason I came back, rooms are nice, minor maintenance issues but reported them front staff said they would take care of them, Breakfast staff lady, nice but shy, did a great job. Cheers
Roof was leaking when I checked in. The kind staff immediately switched me to a room that did not have a leaky roof. She was very pleasant. The bed was very comfortable. I actually slept quite well. There was no body wash in the shower, but I could have used the soap bar that was provided.
This is a good place for a night stay, how ever it is noisy due to a train yard across the street and the ran all night witch was fine with me I like the sound of trains but if you don't they had free ear plugs at the front desk there was also an airport on the other side, the airport was quiet at night but burning the day there was aerobatic activity going on and there is a possibility of big jets going into the airport because is an airplane bone yard. The breakfast was not the best but I got there late so that was partly my fault. Over all for one night is was great.
Stayed just one night, whilst visiting Mojave Air and Space port (and Virgin Galactic) Definitely not the best or the cheapest, but did come with free breakfast (which I didn't actually have) and please note the Railway noise all night... but there is nowhere else in the area....
We stayed here on the night of 10/22. I wanted to say kudos to the owner & Manager for running an excellent hotel. We stayed in Room 101. Other than the walls being a little thin, because the room is located right next to the 2nd floor stairwell, our stay was clean, comfortable & without any exceptions. We could clearly hear an ongoing discussion that was occurring near the entry to the 2nd floor stairwell. This is the only complaint I have. We did appreciate a first floor room & the excellent service by the hotel staff. Sorry but I do not remember the nice person who checked us in. The breakfast room was clean with some reasonable food choices. The internet reception was above average. The parking access is very good. All of the hotel staff that I encountered were polite & professional. We have had excellent results in staying at any Best Western Hotel. This was no exception & we appreciated the quality room & accommodations.
This was just a one night stop on our way to Death Valley and was a perfect stopping location. We had a very nice room and they have a good free breakfast. If you are a light sleeper, look for a place further away from the rail road tracks. The trains did not bother us but they do run all day and all night.
We stayed here for one night. Rooms are nice. You can tell the hotel is old. The doors and walls show the age of this place. Beds need to be replaced. The decor was nice. The hotel rooms have had a face lift, but just like us humans, you can't deny your age. One thing that really bothered me was when my husband and I went to eat breakfast. I found I bug crawling on my biscuit. I threw it away. And then a woman walked in to check on the food. She was a worker that was making sure things were ok. I called her over to tell her about the bug. She didn't understand me. So I tried again to explain myself, still no response from her. So she just walked away. My husband had also served himself a biscuit and told me they were definitely not fresh. So dear hotel owner, if your are going to serve your guests breakfast!!!!! Please make sure your food is fresh and clean of bugs. Especially if you expect people to return to this place. Don't serve us bugs. Eat don't eat bugs in California!!!! At least I don't ??
The Staff was friendly and helpful and told us about the town of Mohave. The rooms were clean and comfortable and large. The breakfast was served in a separate building just for that purpose. It was quiet so a good night's rest.
We drive between the Phoenix area and our families in the Sacramento/Roseville area fairly often. We travel with our small/medium size dog and spend one night each way. Good, reasonably priced pet friendly hotels are not easy to find. This property had good prices, very clean, pet friendly rooms. We checked in in the evening and the front desk person was very pleasant and friendly as well as very efficient. I highly recommend this property and will make it our go to place on our trips to visit our families and our return home.
No problems. Hotel was clean and comfortable. Good value for the price. A needed stop at this location on a business road trip. Slept well. Would stay here again. Left before breakfast to get on the road so I can't say how the breakfast is.
I was pleased with the room. It had nice bedding, a good TV with many channels, not too noisy. I could hear the train, but it seemed to stop at night. The bed was comfortable, a major plus to me. Pillows on the King bed were regular, which I prefer. The room was spacious. The bath was old, but that did bother me. The free breakfast was good, scrambled eggs and sausage. They had cereal, bagels, a make it yourself waffle iron, which I like. So I made my 4 hours drive without another stop. I will stay here again. I was on my way to Mammoth Lakes.
The hotel was remarkably clean inside and out. There were a bunch of construction / railroad workers staying there and the place had a great amount of litter every night, Every morning when I went out to walk my dog it was spotless again. It is very obvious that these people care about their guests. The breakfast was decent and the dining area was always spotless. They alternated sausage and bacon, the bagels and flavors of yogurt. It was nice to not have the exact same thing every day for the week plus that we stayed there. The location was also good. Within walking distance to restaurants and two convenience stores. We will definitely be back.
Nice quiet Hotel, Easy to find, right on the main street, plenty of choices of places to eat close by, Good Breakfast, Great Staff This is a good place to stay if you are working in the area or just passing through
I stayed for two nights over Memorial Day weekend, and had a large, clean, comfortable room. However, there were a couple of maintenance issues that need attention and may apply to other rooms which (as I believe mine was) aren't occupied as frequently as others. First, the refrigerator in my first room was inoperable--somebody had swiped the control switch out of it. I was then moved into the room next door, where the refrigerator switch was pulled out but fortunately was still inside the fridge so I could get it to operate. Then, as I set up my laptop and cell phone at the table in the room, I discovered that the two power outlets adjacent to it weren't working. I had to move the table and a chair to another position across the room in order to work and charge my laptop and phone. None of this was a terribly big deal, but it keeps me from giving a higher rating.
In an out of the way desert setting and what appears an older property I was delighted. Service was congenial and the room was absolutely first class: nicely furnished, fridge and microwaye and comfortable bed. Very clean. Good breakfast. What more can you ask for in a one night stopover hotel while driving through?
Ricardo at the desk is very cordial. The room was clean. I heard the traffic and trains but they certainly did not detract from the stay or sleep. Appreciate the effort to keep it green, but how about thicker paper plates at the good breakfast.
Okay, this is not a 5 star hotel, but when a friend and I were spending a day at the Willow Springs track, we wanted to stay nearby before our long day of motorcycle riding. The Best Western is a little dated, the bed was a bit hard, and there's nothing very scenic about all the asphalt surrounding the place. But we were greeted warmly, the room was clean and quiet, the breakfast had a nice selection of hot and cold choices, and it wasn't too expensive. So I'm giving the Best Western Desert Winds a solid thumbs up.
I suspect there aren't many choices in Mojave in the high desert. This Best Western is within the average for the BW brand. Easy and clear check in; ditto room; ditto breakfast. We only spent one night here.
My husband stayed here traveling on business for the University of TN. The front desk was not able to provide a receipt to allow him to get reimbursed! Same problem at the Best Western Burbank Airport! If you pay prior to the date you stay they can not give you a receipt. We have never had this problem with other hotel chains!
The staff of this hotel is very friendly. The appearance of this hotel can use a little update. This hotel is located near a railroad and airport. Although noise is not a big problem, there are occasional train and helicopter noise throughout the stay.
Excellent check in, check out. Pool and a hot tub! Breakfast is wonderful, very plentiful. The room is very nicely appointed, clean and has all amenities. The water pressure in the shower could use some help though. Still a great value. An oasis in the desert.
Mojave looks a bit rough, but the Best Western is a nice place. Room was freshly remodeled, clean, and well appointed. WiFi worked well. Fridge and microwave were included. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. You do get highway and railroad noise, but the A/C covered it up nicely. Staff was friendly. I would stay here again.
Everything about it is nice. If you have to stay in Mojave this is one of the nicest. The front desk people were very nice. The room and bathroom were very clean. We were told about the trains that go by right across the street but it wasn't that bad and we had no problem sleeping. The breakfast was also very nice with biscuits and gravy, sausage, eggs and assorted other breakfast items. We will definitely stay here again if we go back to Mojave.
Mojave is one of those towns that you hope you will be able to speed through. If you're stuck for the night, the B/W is adequate. It is old and worn, but clean and the front desk service is good. It was about ¾ empty when we stayed here, so don't know how noisy it would be during the high season. The ever-present high winds have blown out the tall street sign on one side, so if you're approaching from the South (LA), you won't notice the place until you're past it.
Room, bed, off-street parking, full morning breakfast , large swimming pool and price all exceeded my expectations. Give this place a night next time you need to rest going North or South and I think you will be surprised too.
We were very impressed with the attitude of the representative on duty when we arrived. She not only made us feel we were important, but ensured that we knew where a good restaurant was close by. The room was very clean and well appointed.
Check in was quick and easy. Asked the receptionist what there was to do in the area and she told us it was a stop over town with nothing to do in the area. Hotel is located on a busy 4 lane main road, with a major train line behind it. Very noisy throughout the night. Room is dated but seeing as we only slept here it did the job. It's a motel layout and very easy to hear people walking around upstairs. Breakfast was nice. Didn't use the pool/hot tub as they are outside and it's freezing.
Best Western is the best hotel to stay if you plan a night through Kern County through the Tehachapi's. the room are excellent. the staff is helpful and courteous. You'll have all the comforts during your stay. close to venders and restaurant's, gas stations and such.
best western is the most excellent hotel. Everything is perfect there. The bed and pillows are so comfortable. Nice and quiet, no noise. Restaurant right next door. The rooms are very clean and spacious. Easy and close parking. The t.v. could be a little bigger. Nice amenities. I cannot say enough good things about Best Western.
Looks like it was recently updated; all the amenities I was looking for including Refrigerator, microwave,Iron, cable TV, ect. A good selection of warm breakfast items. The only draw back for me was it's located near train tracks, and the train run often. I was able to drown out the noise and get a good nights sleep by keeping the fan turned on at night.
A very nice place to stay in the desert. The room was very clean and next to a Denny's. Wi Fi and cable TV were fast and many channels to choose from. I think the best was a great breakfast - probably the best we've had at a motel in a long time. Hot great tasting coffee and real actual fresh food. Will make this a stop on our way back to Mesa, Arizona, our home.
We checked in on the Friday after thanksgiving for the weekend. The gentleman in the office was very helpful, and it was a breeze to check in. Also fresh coffee was available , which was good because it was about 26 degrees outside. We checked into our room and it was very spacious and clean. Heater and AC worked wonderfully. Used the spa, and it was very warm. Asked the night clerk to turn it to hottest temp possible and he did so without hesitation. Spa needed more chlorine and did not have a very pleasant smell. Breakfast was good...sausage,eggs, waffles, bagels. Would have liked hot chocolate. Hotel is pet friendly, however there is no grass for the dogs to use, would have been nice to have that. Overall I would stay here again, and definitely lived up to best western standards.
We were not able to even open the door of the first room we were given; the second room had mold and remnants from the last guests in the refridgerator, the television did not work, the deadbolt did not work, and the shower curtain was gross. The heater/air conditioner unit was excessively noisy and we had no ability to book through the mobile app - staff was very nice, but I was kinda creeped out..
Stayed here due to bad weather. We were happy to find it. The only real problem we had concerned the shower curtain, which would not stay together. Solved the problem using towels all over the floor next to the tub. The cleaning staff must have known about the issue, but left the curtain in pieces anyway. Breakfast with eggs available was appreciated.
Desert Winds is an appropriate name for this Best Western property. Situated in Mojave, CA the winds comes funneling down the Tehachapi Mountain Pass and it is no wonder there are many wind turbines in the area. Quite picturesque if you like the desert (which I do!) The motel itself is clean, well kept and what one expects from this mid-range brand. I was not disappointed in anything. The only noise I heard was the train across the highway (and that only once). I wasn't bothered by it though.
The hotel and Mojave itself are not the best places to stay. After unloading our bags into the room and going down to a badly positioned pool to cool off we found a faulty TV which could not be repaired and were moved with all the hassle of picking up stuff and unpacking again..The staff are friendly and apart from the poor maintenance the rooms were clean. We slept quite well in spite of frequent train noises from just across the road. We left after a good breakfast and found the only good thing about Mojave was fairly cheap gas just up the road. We don't like places where Denny's seems to be the best choice for eating in the evening but at least it was next door so no trouble to find it.There is no shade in the car parking area until morning. .
These people flat out do it right, in all respects. High marks on cleanliness, repair, and maintenance. Super friendly service, all the way around. It's nice to see someone take real pride in their business, and produce a product that is exceptional. Truly the best value for the dollar from here to Las Vegas!
The locatin is very poor: ojave has nothing to offer, just stones and a trafficked road. But if you need an hotel on the way from Grand canyon to Los Angeles, there is little choice. This hotel, while associated to Best Western, is an ordinary motel. However, the service is accurate. The personnel is kind. The air conditioning is too noisy.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Desert Winds BW in Mojave. I have to admit there is not a lot of lodging options in Mojave, but the Desert Winds did not disappoint. Totally updated, friendly staff, our room was beautiful. Peculiar ice machine where you have to insert your room card to get ice, there might have been a note about this in the room, but I had to go back for my room card to get ice! Great wifi. You will hear the "rhythm of the rails" here, but no loud train whistles. We would certainly stay here again.
The rooms were much better than the outside led us the believe. It's an old style motel but none the worse for that. It's a stopping off place. There are quite interesting views of a very American small desert town landscape. It's close to an airplane bone yard and mojave air and space port. The nearby train track is a bit noisy. We paid a very good price for such a nice room.
