My wife and I stayed here on a two week road trip of the west coast. This trip is the final one in a series of road trips to visit every state in the country and we've now been to 49. We have stayed in dozens of Best Western Plus hotels all over the country and I would put this one in the top 3. Surprisingly, the best ones were in wonderful little towns like Mariposa (the other two were in Waterbury, VT and Moab, UT). There are so many good things to say that I have to just list them. Large clean room Very well lit room Large bathroom area 2 suitcase stands (not 1) Very large tv Great water pressure Pharmacopia citrus shampoo/cond/body wash - best EVER Nicely decorated Walking distance to everything in town Very friendly and helpful staff No USB ports but plenty of AC outlets Very large bathroom counter Plenty of towels In short, if you are visiting Yosemite and need a nice place to stay as close to the park entrance as you can get, then look no further. I give it a very strong 5 stars.
Great place. From the outside, it looks a bit tired, but our room was huge and immaculate. Had everything in it that we needed. Breakfast was surprisingly fantastic, with friendly staff. Reception staff were great, very friendly, helpful with local knowledge and both recommended restaurants for dinner were great. Highly recommend
This Best Western clearly deserves its "Plus" designation. Since my wife and I brought our small dog with us, we were given room 115 on the first floor. It smelled clean and offered several nice touches, like having a sanatized TV remote, extra lights, extra trash cans, and 2 throw rugs. There are areas with bark right outside the rooms for pets to relieve themselves, though there is also a small park adjacent to the property. I found the bed comfortable, the AC was quiet, and I heard no outside noise overnight. The flat screen TV was around 55 inches in size. Breakfast was in a separate building in a large room, and the food was hot and tasty. I especially liked that both coffee and juice machines were in the lobby and available at check-in.
Very clean room - looking dated but so clean and very comfortable bed Everything you need in room even earplugs which were needed as roadworks happening which impacted sleep - but not hotels fault Great choice for breakfast and again all kept spotless Staff so helpful in advising restaurants to use
Nice and clean rooms, attentive and helpful staff in a very nice spot! I stayed in this hotel a few years ago and this year again! During this period., they renovated the breakfast area...now, there is a specific place for it, which make it much more convenient and comfortable! Besides, it was really amazing to find a selection of beverages in the reception just free to choose right when we arrived! The only point of attention is the lack of elevators if you are in rooms in the highest floor and carrying plenty of luggage. Nonetheless, it was a very nice stay!
The breakfast was very nice. The room was clean. It was convenient to the Yosemite National Park. There were several restaurants and stores within walking distance to the hotel. There was a very nice church nearby that we went to on Sunday morning.
Booked this Bestwestern hotel but unfortunately we cannot go due to Covid. I would like to cancel the booking and book another date. Unfortunately, the hotel does not want to cooperate and we have to pay all costs. No more Bestwestern Mariposa for us. we book another hotel. very sorry about this!
Staff is wonderful, breakfast is outstanding (many choices), very clean, and well maintained. Just remember that there is no elevator, so if you don't like stairs, request to stay on the 1st or 2nd level. Will definitely be a repeat customer here.
Very reasonably priced property about 45 minutes from Yosemite. The staff went above and beyond to help us. We asked to change to a room with more light, and the young man at the front desk literally ran up the stairs with our new keys. The breakfast is plentiful and the breakfast area was very clean. The men and women staffing breakfast were very helpful. There is no elevator but if you stay on the first or second floor you can park right on your level near your room (second level parking is in back). I would highly recommend this hotel if you're looking for a place to stay near Yosemite.
We stayed 3 nights and did enjoy our stay. The choice in town is not that plentiful so we believe this was a good choice. Great location in the centre of town. Reception was extremely helpful. The breakfast was excellent. Plenty parking spaces. However the rooms are small and windows don't open. It could definitely be cleaner. The carpet was actually so dirty so we had to wear flip flops. But the shower pressure was great. Definitely a negative was the laundry. 2 washers and 2 dryers, but only one of each was in working order so it was pot luck to get things washed.
Great location for Yosemite National Park, easy to get too. Room was clean, breakfast was very good. What let it's down was on arrival the guy on reception said unfortunately there are road works going on so the room will come with ear plugs and I have put you around the back. Great we thought. It wasn't the actual road works that kept us awake. 1st night - air con was so loud you couldn't even hear the telly. So we decided not to use the air con but ended up overheating at night. 2nd night - someone car alarm going off every hour. Had to get change to go to reception at 3pm to ask the guy in reception to find outs what who's car it was. 3nd night - being woken up at 4pm by someone having a shower and flushing the loo every half hour. Now you're probably thinking why haven't they used the free ear plugs! The ear plugs were so hard couldn't get them in our ears. Those the hotel was nice, breakfast was very good it was the worst nights sleep I've ever had in a hotel.
Last minute decision-- At 10 pm the choices are few in this small town. Suggested by police officer since it was late. Old location-- frayed towels may not be normal but for $220+ a night you expect better. Pizza at the corner stop was great. Will not return here - other locations have been fine
Beautiful little town, felt like we was on a western film set, lovely little restaurants, staff in hotel were very friendly and helpful, had a lovely little creek 15min drive out, views were amazing and water was lovely to swim in. Room was clean and only a 50min drive to yosemite
This was a clean and good sized room that was a breath of fresh air after we had traveled for hours!! The front desk manager was very kind and provided all necessary info during check in. Hot breakfast was offered and was quite delicious as well. Would definitely stay here again!
5-Star hotel all the way around from staff to rooms to parking to location. Yes, it is an older hotel. It has no elevator yet three floors, but the build in the parking situation, even if you're staying on the third floor, will only have you walking up one flight of stairs. So if you are challenged in that respect, you better get first floor room. My dealings on the way via telephone, and at check-in we're with Jennifer. Jennifer is the sunshine in Mariposa and at that hotel. So forthcoming so upfront so friendly so professional. Jennifer you said an exceptional tone for that hotel and it carried through to the rest of the staff. Everyone that works there is amazing. The breakfast area, located in a separate Billing over by the pool. Offers a breakfast you will not believe. Choice, choice, choice, something for everyone, and tasty. The rooms are exceptionally clean and well kept everything isn't working order. No stone unturned, a great hotel. Will I stay there again or will I send family and friends to stay there most certainly. If I go back to Mariposa, the best western will be the place that I will stay. It is convenient to the small downtown area is eclectic. Mariposa is a beautiful place to stay at so far as a gateway to Yosemite. It is the place place to stay.
My husband and I spent 3 nights at this hotel in June and were very happy with our choice. We wanted a place close enough to Yosemite to allow us to visit the park for two full days in a town with amenities such as shops and restaurants. We found the hour-long drive to and from the park to be an easy and enjoyable trip, and took different routes on the two days (entering at El Portal on one day and at the southern gate on the other) which allowed for different perspectives of the park. We found the BW to be clean and comfortable and we had a very nice room on the second floor which was quiet. The folks at the front desk were helpful and pleasant, and the breakfast had both hot and cold offerings served by efficient staff. We would recommend this hotel and the town of Mariposa to travelers to the Yosemite area.
We stayed here June 2024 while visiting Yosemite NP. This hotel was just ok with nothing special. Our room was fine, and it was clean. Included breakfast was standard, nothing bad or outstanding. Rather disappointed that the pool was out of order during our stay. Temperatures were near 100 and the pool would have been nice after a long day of hiking in Yosemite. We did not get any notice that the pool was not open, and we did not get any kind of price adjustment for the pool being closed. We probably would not stay here again.
Above and beyond our expectations! If you are looking for a clean hotel with friendly, helpful staff, this is it. Pros - Keurig coffee maker in room; remodeled bathroom; cleanliness; comfortable bedding; A/C quiet and efficient; complimentary breakfast with sufficient choices; water/juice /coffee dispenser in the lobby available all day; plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance (including a grocery across the street); daily housekeeping. Cons - really nothing, other than it was further from Yosemite than we expected ( but this was probably our fault for not doing better research!).
Just a perfect experience for the price. Nice people and great breakfast to go with it. Location was easy to find as well.
Pleasantly surprised by the quality, cleanliness, and amenities at this particular location in Mariposa. A great place to decompress after our wilderness back country / back packing hiking trip in Yosemite.
The clerk at check in was very friendly and helpful. We had a room with two queen beds on the back of the hotel. The room was one of the smallest hotel rooms I've ever stayed in. It was clean and attractive though. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was clean. The TV only had three channels but we didn't even realize it until the morning we left because we were out at Yosemite a lot of the time. There is a pretty path next to the hotel that leads to a county park. Also a cute little free library. There are flowers in planters all around the outside of the property. Breakfast was very good and the breakfast staff very attentive. There were real plates instead of paper plates. The breakfast room was full so I asked to share a table with another couple. They were from the UK and we had a nice visit. The pool was being worked on but was put back in service the morning we left. The hotel was not too far from Yosemite and it was a reasonable price for the location.
Sofa and King size bed were extremely comfortable. Spacious room for luggage. Convenient place to stay for visiting Yosemite
I have stayed here before and the level of service and attention to detail has dropped significantly. Check in was painfully slow. I was told the rooms hadn't been cleaned yet because the cleaning staff was in a meeting. It was after 4pm when the room was finally ready. Clean the rooms before your meeting! The landscaper crew used leaf blowers to blow the dust and debris from the parking area all over our car leaving it filthy. The neighborhood kids had taken over the pool area. There was nothing or no one to keep them out. The trash bins around the property were overflowing with trash for two days they were not emptied. The room had problems too. The TV service is terrible. Very few channels if you can find them. Impossible to use the remote, bad service, poor reception and terrible picture quality. One of the beds was very lumpy and uncomfortable. The bathtub drain barely worked. The water crept up to your ankles as you showered. The clock had the wrong time. Overall maintenance on the property was lacking. For about $250 a night it was shockingly lacking and a very disappointing experience.
The motel is in a great spot next to downtown and the best part is a little trail that goes along a creek to the park for dog walking. There is a wonderful gift shop adjacent to the park too called chocolate soup. We have allot of gift shops where we live in Carmel by the Sea and this one stood out as exceptional.
Staff was friendly and accommodating. Grab and Go breakfast was great! Room was spacious. Juice bar in office was a nice thing in the morning when picking up our breakfast.
I booked this motel for a 3-night stay in Mariposa, as my mom and I were attending a celebration of life just outside of town for my aunt, and am happy with my choice. For starters, the staff both at the front desk and breakfast room were super friendly. Upon check-in, we were offered the choice downstairs room or something on one of the upper floors. We opted for a room on the bottom floor, as my mom does not do stairs that well. Our room had 2 queen beds, a mini fridge, and a microwave. The vanity/sink area in this room was separate from the bathtub and toilet. That was nice, as someone could be there, while someone was taking a shower. Other plusses were the free breakfast, free drinks in the lobby (juices, coffees, and hot chocolate), and the outdoor hot tub. Lastly, like all motels/hotels in town, this one was close to everything. On the downside, the reception on TV was not great for some of the local channels and I also heard some guests saying they found the TV a little complicated to operate (not used to the streaming apps with Samsung TV+). In all this was a nice choice in Mariposa.
Great location, easy to access. Walking along the creek trail you can get to the center of town within a few minutes. There are several unique shops and restaurants nearby. Store across the street, but it's not safe to cross at that location so would need to take your car. Room was clean and there was a lot of breakfast options. Check in was easy, but if you end up on the third or second floor be sure to park in the back to avoid so many stairs lugging up your luggage. Second floor is a straight shot from the back parking lot. We had road construction and jackhammering all night our first night. Not disclosed by the front desk, but there were ear plugs in our room. We took a Unisom and fell asleep. Second night was fine. Hotel was about an hour from Yosemite which was our destination.
There is construction going on immediately in front of hotel at night. There is jack hammering all night long.. if you are staying in the front of the hotel, you will NOT sleep. The management doesnt really care and at most will offer 20% compensation for the disturbances
This motel offers a very high value given it's location near the entrance to one of California's premier attractions (Yosemite). The young man at the reception desk was professional, friendly and helpful, getting me and my “first time in America German Cousins” a recommendation to a nice pub on the Main St. The rooms were spotless and well appointed. The breakfast was of the typical Best Western format, not fancy, but was of top quality in terms of cleanliness and good order. I was really happy that with so many other issues in California, this venue offered high quality with a reasonable price that was appreciated by all.
Excellent Breakfast; hot, fresh and filling. Wonderful Cook and attendant (wish I knew her Name) always welcoming and helpful. WIFI worked great for my business trips. No fuss parking. Rooms dated and closed in (musty), small frig stayed warm unable to cool, clock was an hour off but Hey! Reasons why I wont be staying there again: Major issues with the Management made claims of insufficient funds in leu of accountability, then CVC error ? No defined reason given. But charged my CC x3 for one stay. So I gave and honest survey. And now in retaliation the Manager of the Mariposa Best Western called and cancelled my future stays and stated I am no longer welcome there!
When traveling I always try to stay where there is a complimentary breakfast so I can get on with business quicker. However, sometimes it's like playing a game of roulette, you never know until you get there what breakfast will consist of, a cold stale piece of bread or warm, good food. This breakfast was great, warm good choices.
You cant go wrong by choosing this hotel. Everything was top notch. Quiet surroundings. Great wifi speed. Breakfast was tasty and promptly refilled. Perfectly located right outside Yosemite valley (45mins - 1hr).
We stayed in three best westerns and they were all exceptional for value and service. Comfortable and clean rooms with polite service. Breakfasts are fantastic in range and quality of the food. It kept me going all day.
very friendly staffs on the front desk, room clean and hot breakfast. In terms of value for money, the hotel strikes a good balance between luxury and affordability. Overall, my experience was exceptionally positive, making this hotel a highly recommended choice for anyone visiting the area.
Very good room on the second floor which can be directly accessed from the rear of the building parking. For American standards the breakfast was excellent with a good selection choise including hot food. The breakfast room is big so it is not crowded. Hotel has a very good location for day trips to Yosemite National Park areas. Plenty of restaurants and shops alone the same street.
Had a nice room, road noise wasn't as bad as when I reviewed it in 2014. Continental breakfast was one of the best I've had at a Best Western, with a nice big variety to chose from. Will stay here again while visiting friends in the area. Easy walk in to town.
Hotel is very nice, staff very helpfull and extremely friendly. Room was comfy, beds good. Breakfast good and free coffee and fruitjuices at front desk just perfect. Would certainlyvstay there again..
The front desk clerk gave off a happy vibe, was friendly, and made us feel welcome. The room was clean and beautiful. The hot tub and pool were accessible and worked great. The breakfast had a ton of variety with hot fresh cooked food. Hotel is pet friendly and they also have a beautiful dog park you can walk to.
This hotel was great as a landing spot on our way to Yosemite. The town has great restaurants and shops which are within walking distance. The front desk folks were great providing us with suggestions and ideas during our three night stay at the Best Western. We would definitely stay here again if we were to visit Yosemite.
Best Western in Mariposa-the room was clean and more spacious than some places. The bed and pillows were super comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was as good as a complimentary breakfast gets with ample choices including hot foods and served in a large, bright dining room with regular attendants cleaning and restocking. The breakfast is a big savings for a family traveling. They offered cold water filling stations for water bottles. The rooms and parking lot felt safe. We were debating between this hotel and Tenaya, and we were pleased with this one and would chose to stay here again. Mariposa has good restaurants, some little shops, and a full size grocery store, all very close together. It is a good base camp for Yosemite. Although the drive in is about 45 minutes, it is scenic, so you don't notice the distance.
This hotel was perfect for our two nights either side of our day trip to Yosemite NP. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, and the whole family were grateful of complimentary drinks 24/7 in the lobby. Lovely to have a pool to chill out by, and the breakfast was amazing … what a selection. The hotel was easy to walk from into the town, where there was a supermarket, tourist information, gift shops. two petrol stations and a good selection of restaurants/diners. Highly recommend the Mexican restaurant (the one nearest to the hotel).
We got mosquito bites and couldn't sleep for a night. Our past experience with this hotel was decent, but this time we had sleepless night. We chose this hotel over others in the area because of Best Western brand, however we were extremely disappointed with our stay this time.
The hotel was amazing! Harmony at the front desk was kind, friendly, cheerful and helpful; the room was beautiful, the pool, hot-tub, workout room, laundry room were clean and very nice; and the breakfast buffet in the dining area was fantastic! My family and I couldn't have been happier with our stay. We will be staying again when we go to Yosemite National Park! It is well worth the hour drive!
This was the biggest disappointment ever. Rooms so old and worn out, dirty & disgusting. Towels all frayed they are so old, only one outlet worked besides the one in the bathroom so charging everything was next to impossible. TV did not work, even FD staff came in and tried to get current stuff up on it and did not know how. (at least they tried!!) Asked for TV channel list, they do not have one. Then all internet went out, which the TV works on internet. We do have to check in with our employers, told they had internet in lobby, not going to work in the lobby. There was no way we were even going to try the breakfast after such a disgusting room. This was a $100 room tops. Carpet so filthy we had to wear socks, mold around the shower, they gave us a whopping 10% discount, which was minimal compared to the cost of the room.
We stayed 3 nights (in two rooms) from the 20th through 23rd and it was a wonderful stay. I just cannot say enough about this hotel. It was clean, comfortable, the rooms were attractive, the breakfast was plentiful and good, the location was outstanding, the price was outstanding for the value, the placement of ice machines and trash cans were awesome, the breakfast hours were very accommodating, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the code for wifi was simple, the coffee makers in the room were a nice touch, the air conditioner was great, the lighting was good and the number out of electrical outlets was outstanding, the types of lamps were great, the water refilling stations were a nice touch, the public bathrooms were immaculately clean and properly stocked, the soaps and shampoos were nice, the tv was simple and nice, the drapes provided great blackouts, your lobby was attractive and full of coffees and such, etc. We usually stay Hiltons and Marriotts (the lower level of those brands) and this particular Best Western hit it out of the park like few have at the other brands. This place is doing everything right, if you are a customer.
Hotel was very clean. The room was spacious and parking was convenient. Staff members were very pleasant and helpful, both at check in and check out. Breakfast was good, had a great variety of items, and was located in a large room with ample seating.
Can't say enough about the staff. Went above and beyond other hotels we stayed at during this roadtrip. The hotel is near Yosemite Valley and surrounding area. The town of Mariposa is a great little town to explore.
Dirty rooms, horrible staff, lots of safety hazards, room smelled like feet and wet dog. They said Cherissa is the one in charge but wasn't available to confront face to face after several attempts to show them the issues we gave up. Go to a vacation rental. This hotel is crap
This is one of the cleanest hotels we have stayed at in a long time. Pet friendly and the breakfast is amazing. The staff was very polite and helpful. Great experience all around. I would totally recommend this as a safe and clean place to stay.
This hotel is on the way out of town although if inclined you could still walk to restaurants etc, as it's a small town. During our stay it was a very busy place. Ask for a second floor room at the front of the hotel. We were in the back on the first floor and endured children running around yelling and people partying in the parking lot. Hard to sleep and no privacy if you opened your curtains. We had 2 queens. They've chosen enormous beds that take up tons of room. Back parking lot is tight & congested often with large vehicles. So can be hard to maneuver. Breakfast is really great for a hotel breakfast with staff there working really hard to keep the place looking nice.
Very Comfortable and Clean room. Was surprised at the the quality, variety and abundance of the breakfast. Will definitely stay again and explore the town of Mariposa and surrounding area. Close proximity to Yosemite is a plus!
This hotel is perfect for a visit to yosemite. It is 1 hour from the Mariposa entrance and 1 hour from the other entrance to the main yosemite valley so very well positioned. The staff were extremely helpful, the room very clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed and also a huge TV we could stream to was amazing. The included breakfast was also amazing with make your own waffle machine. Highly recommended staying here it was great value for money
Great stay, and excellent value for money If you are visiting Yosemite and looking for a base, this is perfect As others have commented decor looks a little dated, but more importantly cleanliness is spot-on. Facilites excellent, staff very helpful, and breakfast is a great bonus if you're spending a long day exploring Yosemite Would recommend highly
First time staying here, just for one night passing through from Yosemite NP. First impressions it's a little shabby around the edges and the rooms need a serious decor update it was like something from the 70s! Hardly any sleep, rooms facing a noisy main road and the air conditioning sounded like it was having a choking fit so I had to turn it off. People shouting outside late at night made me feel unsafe as a solo traveler and I actually put a chair under my door handle. Super friendly staff, especially the lady with a headband at breakfast she was a huge asset to the hotel. Nice little local area with shops and restaurants within a few mins walk but I did encounter a huge tarantula in the hotel car park after walking back! The hotel has three floors and no lifts so not ideal for heavy bags or disabilities etc.. Not sure if there was a pool but I didn't see one?
We stayed with our 2 dogs and this property was very welcoming. I called in advance to remind the hotel that I would be bringing dogs and she went over the pet policy with me. Upon check in I was given a pet waste holder with bags and told where I could walk my dogs. There is a nearby park that was super shady to walk them. The room we had did not have carpet, but tile flooring which was great for dog hair and made me feel like it was cleaner than carpet for pets. My dogs were comfortable and slept very well.
Always a great place to stay. Short walk to downtown. Breakfast in the morning. Comfy beds. Clean rooms. Love using the pool area also. Parking is never a problem. Would recommend to anyone. Great stop before going to Yosemite with the cute little shops
This room had been 100% paid for with my reward points. When I got there I was told I needed to give them my card for “incidental” charges. When we checked out, I was shocked to see that I had been charged $68.10 for my already paid for room. I asked about the charges and was told this for “room tax”. The receipt showed that beside the room tax I was also charged $30 a night for a “Room Revenue Charge”. No explanation for this bogus charge was given. Later I called the Best Westen Corporate office and was told that indeed the motel should NOT have charge me this. The rep was going to contact the motel and that the motel should contact me in 2 or 3 days and that I should also be getting a refund for these bogus charges. It's been over 2 days now and no one has contacted me regarding this yet. I'm extremely disappointed. We usually stay at Best Western a minimum of 50 nights a year and we have never been treated like this before.
This was the most affordable motel within a decent distance to Yosemite National Park. Honestly, I wish it was a little closer to the park (solid 45 minute drive and then you wait in a line of cars to enter). However, lodging near the park looked sketchy and overpriced. I found this motel clean and the parking right in front my room was very convenient. Good breakfast. The staff were friendly. It is very close to the small touristy strip with decent food and a few gold rush era historical markers.
We are a family of five and had not one complaint during our stay here. We requested a rollaway and it came immediately and was one of the updated newer ones with no springs! Room was super clean and updated. Breakfast room is large with good coffee.
Located along the fork of highway 140 & 49. Close to shops and restaurants in the heart of Mariposa. About an hour drive away from Yosemite Nat'l Park. Staff were friendly, accommodating, provided great service. Impressively clean from lobby to rooms and bathrooms. Rooms are spacious and have microwave, refrigerator, reliable AC unit, and a smart TV. Breakfast included variety choices of juices, coffee, tea, yogurt, milk, bread, muffins, fruits, cereal, eggs, potatoes, sausages, biscuits, gravy, waffles, etc. Ample amount of parking spaces in front and at the back or the building. Didn't get to use the pool/jacuzzi but other guests seemed to enjoy it. Only used the stairs and didn't see an elevator so that could be an issue for others if needed. Would recommend!
There aren't many brand names to select from in Mariposa, so we were glad to find Best Western. The room with 1 king size bed with a sofa was large enough for 2 adults. There was a refrigerator/freezer combo which we found very valuable. We stayed here for 3 nights, so being able to refrigerate our sodas and lunches before leaving each morning was valuable. We stopped at the only Subway in town, bought sandwiches for the next hiking day and stored in the refrigerator. There was a small microwave as well. Also there was a Pioneer Market to buy soda, chips and deli department as well. The bathroom was recently updated, shower had marbleized tile and there was a bathtub vs a walk in shower. I liked the fact that the toilet/shower area had a door and then a separate sink area. The bed was comfortable and 4 pillows was plenty. A large TV which we didn't use and the remote was wrapped in a plastic sleeve which seemed helpful if you wanted to open and use. There was a desk area with chair. WiFi worked well enough. A/C worked well. 2 luggage racks were available. The hotel is built on a hill. Parking was free and plenty by each room. The breakfast was near the pool area. Breakfast was wonderful. We have stayed at other hotel brands which offer a "free" breakfast and this BW was one the best due to selection of food. Hot waffles (blueberry and original), scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, fresh hot biscuits. Cold cereal choices, boiled eggs, muffins, bagels, choices for drinks: tea, coffee, OJ, cranberry, hot chocolate. Plus the breakfast staff was outstanding on replacing empty trays and cleaning the eating area. There was a hot tub by the pool area which did feel good after long day of hiking. There was a small exercise room but we didn't use.
Nice, little small town Best Western with pleasant and clean rooms. They have a pretty good breakfast but it's kinda of difficult to get because it's up on top of a steep incline. Staff is pretty friendly, but seem to have a problem when you have a specific request such as extra trash bag.
I'll start off by saying that the location is great for people just leaving or about to visit Yosemite, the drive is not too long. The town is really nice with lots of little shops, some nice restaurants, bars and coffee shops, everyone was very friendly. If its your thing, we also had a massive TV in the room, which felt a bit out of place to be honest, but I suppose that's a benefit. The rooms feel like they've not be updated for a couple of decades, the bed was reasomably comfortable but not great, the furniture in the room was large and arranged in a way to make the room cramped. The bathroom felt dated and sparse and pool area seemed a bit pointless, breakfast was decent for a quick bite but the only thing you could fill up on was waffles, waffles are nice every now and again or maybe on the side, but not as the main component of your morning meal. Realistically, the room was fine for us for a one night stay, bit cramped and outdated but livable, my issue here mainly lies with the price you pay for this room, there clearly just isnt enough supply of rooms in the area around Yosemite, but $240 for 1 room for 1 night here is just extortianate really, either Best Western have incredibly high bills here, pay their staff handsomely, or they are just using Yosemite as a cash cow and sucking as much profit as possible out. Fair enough, make some money from a popular destination with perhaps limited supply of accomodation, but atleast invest some back in to make it feel better value for the traveler. Really, I struggle to see how in its current state this place should charge more than maybe $120 per night and I wouldnt stay here again unless that was the case, it was a shame on this occasion, our hands were tied.
Overall were very pleased with this hotel. It is an older hotel, but very clean, quiet, and comfortable. The service was friendly, and the breakfast was better than we expected. It is approximately 1 hour from Yosemite. We recommend this hotel.
we were very pleased with our stay. The room & bed were comfortable. It was nice to have breakfast included, hot cooked food., not just a cold continental The staff were very friendly. We recommend and would stay here again if we were to come back. Only a 45-minute (beautiful) drive to Yosemite Valley!
This Best Western is about 45 minutes from Yosemite. It's in a cute little town that has a Rote Aid, a few souvenir stores as well as cute boutiques, a few restaurants and a Subway and Burger King. I liked it for the convenience. The staff were really nice. The rooms need updating. The carpet was old and right under the sink. Never understood that. However. I appreciated that the sink was outside the toilet and shower. The room was a bit dark and the air conditioner did not adjust to temperature. It's on or it's just off. But overall it was fine especially if you wanted to stay close to Yosemite. And the breakfast was a full breakfast. That's was really nice.
We stayed here on a recent trip to Yosemite. The hotel was convenient to go to and from the park. It was ideally situated to walk around Downtown Mariposa. The Creek Side Garden Path starts at the edge of their parking lot. We stayed there once on our trip, the staff was very nice and helpful. We tried to stay a second time and the young lady who was helping us got sick and called for help to replace her. The replacement lacked the skills of everyone else we had met there. All in all, I would stay there again.
The rooms were very dated (1980s) and in need of a major upgrade. The red color scheme for Best Western follows from the exterior to the interior. The window air conditioner was noisy and drafty. The air vents were constantly blowing the curtains open which made visual privacy from the outside corridor somewhat compromised from people walking by. Open metal stairs along the side of the building were narrow and squeaking.
The hotel is located about an hour drive from Yosemite Entrance (Rt 140). The rooms were a nice size, but outdated and had a bit of a musty smell. Also note, the rooms have outside entrances, if that is a concern. We had no issues with it other than the door being vey hard to close. The sink area was nice and large for two people to share. The room had a mini-fridge and microwave which was very convenient. Breakfast was nice. They had a fairly large range of choices. Scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, cereals, pre-packaged muffins, bagels/toast, yogurt, hard boiled eggs and fruit. It was from 6:30-9:30am, so we could get an earlier start on our drive to the park. It is within walking distance of the small town. We arrived on a Monday and found a lot of the stores are closed on Monday, and even on Tuesday a lot close around 6pm. They have a pool and fitness area, but we did not use them.
We spent a couple days visiting Yosemite and decided to stay in Mariposa which is only an hour's drive from the entrance. The hotel is centrally located and easy to walk around this beautiful small town. Free breakfast, good spacious rooms and free parking as well. Check-in was smooth as Kaitlin let us know what good places to eat were. The only thing was the local TV channels were very hard to find as the Smart TV although had streaming options was difficult to see. Anyway we were not there to watch TV but to visit the beautiful town and surrounding area.
The location is about 44 miles to the entrance of Yosemite NP. It's very clean. Staff are friendly. Having free breakfast was a bonus and the kids enjoyed making their waffles with BW logo. Having a smart TV in the room and a fast wifi made our kids happy. It would have been a perfect stay if the pool was heated.
Tv is super new and huge, there have Netflix! Although the tissue has some cleaning liquid, I loved every part of the hotel. The breakfast is good, I recommend there oat milk and muffins. I would love to choose this hotel again
I was very surprised at the quality of this motel. The front desk clerk was amazing. He said he would call to check on us and he did just that...you don't find that at even some of the finer brands. It was the perfect location to stay when visiting Yosemite.
Good, clean room, nice tasty free breakfast. Convenient to the highway but quiet. Perfect spot for day tripping into Yosemite from. Too bad the pool wasn't in order, but still a good place for the money.
I spent three nights here and had no complaints. Check-in and out were effortless. The TV in the was larger than expected (I think 75"), in fact, it was larger than the one in my room at a Hampton Inn later in the trip. Hot breakfast is back and the dining area was kept clean. Daily housekeeping is NOT back, but I wasn't inconvenienced by this. The pool and spa were open and the spa was hot enough. The historic downtown was within walking distance and the route goes through a local park. My room was in the back, so no street noise. The bed and pillows were comfy.
I have mixed feelings about this hotel. We decided to stay here to visit Yosemite. It was the most affordable. I think for the price we paid in comparison to places in Yosemite valley it was very cheap. It's an hour's drive from Yosemite valley which makes it bearable. The rooms are outdated and need renovating but they are clean. The beds are big and comfortable. The TV is huge and you have a fridge and microwave which is appreciated. The shower is pathetic and we felt lucky to get warm water. The breakfast is pretty good, a wide selection of options. All the usual processed cr*p but as a Brit in the US it's nice to overindulge. The pool and hot tub are a nice addition despite the pool being out of action, we went in anyway. The front desk manager told us the pool would be working the next day, it wasn't. The fitness room is laughable. A cross trainer, treadmill and step machine in a room barely big enough to hold them all. My biggest issue is they don't come and clean or make your bed up each day. I've never stayed in a hotel that doesn't do this and o find it very odd and cheeky given how much we paid. It's an OK hotel, I'm not sure there are many other options available that are any better. I'd stay again but if it was anymore expensive I'd been annoyed.
This hotel/motel is clean and in working order (somewhat). It was far better than expected. Not much choice in this small town. None of the fitness center equipment worked but other than that, the property was in good condition and the room was clean.
Mariposa is one of those beautiful, postcard-perfect quaint little California towns and the Best Western Inn is a perfect place to stop and spend the night on your way to Yosemite. One day we will have to spend a little bit more time in Mariposa itself as I'm sure there's plenty of things to see and do there as well, but this time around we were just stopping by for the night. The hotel's amenities leave nothing to be desired: The room was spacious and clean, the bed was comfortable and we had a good night's sleep and a plentiful breakfast in the morning. We will definitely be back.
I spent a week working from the Best Western Plus Yosemite Way Station in order to attend Yosemite Firefall. Mariposa was about the closest location I could find a motel/hotel with reliable internet service as the motels just outside the park had questionable internet. The internet while not fast was adequate for having meetings and the motel proved to be an adequate place to work from for a week. The room furnishings were nothing fancy, but comfortable. They were suitable for a week's stay. I would recommend staying on the backside of the hotel, as the front side of the motel suffers from noise from tucks accelerating away from the stop sign early in the morning. After my first night, I switched rooms to have a better view and regretted the change. Restaurants and coffee shops were a short drive away. Mariposa provided a lot more options than El Portal. Overall, this was about the best hotel I could find on way to Yosemite in the winter (the other routes may be closed). During my stay I drove to Yosemite seven times (five after work). The drive to see Yosemite Firefall was manageable after work if you can get off by 1 or 2 p.m. The drive to Yosemite Village takes around an hour each way and did get a little old after seven days.
Nice hotel and convenient to Yosemite. But our blanket had vomit and stains on it. They quickly brought us a clean blanket and sheets but we questioned the cleanliness of the rest of the place esp during a pandemic.
The hotel was nice and clean. We arrived around 10 pm, got our keys, and went to the room. The room was nice and clean. The hotel has a pool and hot tub, the hot tub was running even in December (I saw there people inside while snowing). Breakfast was a better standard, only sad thing is that they did not refill bacon, even though the breakfast was supposed to run for another hour. The hotel has an excellent location for winter trips to Yosemite, Mariposa is also the last place where one can conveniently rent snow chains.
Perfect place to stay with our family, including pets for our Yosemite trip. Easy walk into town, clean rooms, comfy beds & great breakfast options. Staff, especially Jen at the front desk is so warm & welcoming. Great way to spend your Yosemite/Sierra vacation.
We arrived late, our booking couldn't be found eventhough I had it on my phone. The young lady found us a room (Ginny) matched the price and made sure it was quiet as we had been travelling a long time. It's an older BW but quaint and breakfast was back to buffet style
Motel staff did not want to confront 4-6 Hispanics staying at this motel. They were a group of road crew stay on the second level next to our room that were talking and smoking on their cell phone very loud around 830-900 pm very rude and when my wife asked them to please move down to their room he said CLOSE YOUR DOOR.....wow I called the front desk and told them I was checking out early. We just wanted peace and quite after 3 long days visiting Yosemite....
2 night stay, King room. Early check in not available, but we were able to leave our luggage at front desk as we were heading into the park. Friendly and accommodating front desk personnel. Large clean room with fridge & microwave. Our room faced the road, which was busy and noisy from about 6am to 11pm. We kept the a/c fan on all night to drown out some of the noise. Full hot breakfast was very good. Safe and walkable area to local restaurants. About a 35 minute drive to Park entrance. Overall a nice stay and would stay here again.
We traveled to Yosemite in August of 2021. Little did we know you need reservations to drive your car into the park. The hotel staff was great and helped us out in finding a way into the park. We used the YART system which was not as good as driving into the park, but at least we got in.
The help we got from the front desk, from a nice lady called Mackenzie was one of the best traveling experiences we had on this one month trip across the south west. We had a problem with our booking (due to our booking app, booking.com, NOT the Motel's fault). Mackenzie was quick to help us locate the problem (on Bookings end), assured us that we will be taken care of and graciously fixed the problem while having our arrival experience her top priority. Service providers like Mackenzie are the best thing about traveling! (Have to also give a shout-out to Jesus who was also at the desk and did all he could to try and help us). THANK YOU
Great back up plan to Lake Tahoe when our plans were cancelled because of the fire, stayed outside Yosemite and did day hikes and had a terrific time, then our plans to camp at mammoth lakes were canceled because National park service closed the forest to camping and fishing we extended our Yosemite visit and had a fun time in oakhurst and mariposa
The hotel was decent. The staff were all great and breakfast was delicious. Probably not worth the price we paid but it's proximity to Yosemite makes it higher. However, I would not stay here again for a yosemite trip. It was just too far out of the way and by the time we returned from our long day around 8pm all of the restaurants were closed. Luckily, there was a little market close by for groceries. Overall, the hotel was not a bad place to crash for the night.
This motel is one of the nicest and cleanest I've ever been in. Staff are so helpful Eddie fly. Breakfast area clean and good variety. The bathroom was one of the most clean I've ever seen. Great place for my Yosemite adventure
It was clean, comfortable and friendly!!!!! The morning breakfast was excellent! Great place to stay while visiting Yosemite! While some of the décor may have been dated, it was obvious that the housekeeping staff took pride in room cleanliness and presentation.
Hotel room was decent. Pool was just off the parking lot and not very welcoming. Coffee machine in breakfast room was broken, so had to go to other side of hotel to get coffee for breakfast. Nice hotel overall, but seemed a bit expensive for what it is.
I absolutely loved the mattress we had in our room. I suffer from back pain and it is hard for me to get comfortable enough to sleep when I am not in my own bed. When I stay at this location I didn't have these problems that I usually suffer from. I fell asleep quickly and stayed asleep through the night. The room was well light and comfortable and you could smell the cleanliness of the room. I would absolutely stay here again.
I stayed at this hotel during COVID and so there was not daily housekeeping but that was standard. Front desk personnel were helpful, overall its a nice place to stay when in the area considering the price.
This hotel did not provide daily housekeeping services during my three-night stay. The rates I paid were $230 for the first night and $288 for the second and third nights before taxes. I spoke with the front desk three times prior to checkout about the lack of daily housekeeping services. After the second night I was told by the front desk the “Executive Housekeeper” would be contacted to ensure the room would be cleaned. That afternoon new towels were delivered and the bed was made but without replacing the sheets (see photo). During my entire stay the trash was not emptied, the bathroom was not cleaned, the carpets were not vacuumed, soap, shampoo, and coffee were not resupplied. Upon checkout, I was offered a 10% discount. I told the clerk this was not sufficient based on the daily rates I was charged. I asked to speak with the manager, told she was not in, and requested she call me. More than 48 hours have passed since checking out and I have not received a call from the manager. I am not a tourist. I have family in the Mariposa area and visit several times a year. This is the third time I have stayed at this hotel. I will not stay here again.
Clean rooms every day. Great continental breakfast! This place was truly impressive and it could not have been any better. Hiking in Yosemite and then coming back to the clean cooled room was absolutely perfect. Thank you!
We had a very enjoyable stay at The Best Western Motel when your out and about with your sisters all day and you come back tired. You want to come back rested the Motel was just that a rested place to come back to.
This hotel definitely didn't meet our expectations as a family. We would have expected the room to be extra clean due to Covid, but it was not. There was clothing from previous guests hanging in the closet still! The room itself was dated and musty and you could feel the springs in the beds. The window lock was broken so you could not open the window to get rid of the musty smell. The shower had lots of flow but the showerhead was at my armpit height and I am not super tall (6ft). There were 3 rooms of people that were going back and forth banging on each others doors and partying well past 2AM when I called the front desk to ask them to do something about it. The coffee machine was out of order at the breakfast and the one at the front desk was out of coffee. The pool was dirty and the spa was worse. It was disgusting. I am a Best Western Rewards member and have come to know the Best Western Plus brand to be much better than this. This definitely wasn't a PLUS. If they have a Best Western Minus this would be it. The only thing nice and updated in the hotel was the small front lobby.
The Beds are very hard and uncomfortable, the water pressure for showers runs low to non existent and the towels are as soft as a burlap sacks. The manager Charisse is a delight- NOT!!! There was a last minute booking change by Best Western Mariposa-our room category was changed upon check-in. We were told take it or leave it or we can can have you escorted off the property- that was Charisse the managers way of customer service. Jen and the breakfast staff were nice and friendly.
I have stayed at this Best Western previously, but not during the pandemic. I was impressed at how they have adapted to to ensure guest safety, cleanliness of rooms and buffet breakfast. Mariposa is the closest town to Yosemite Valley, however, it is still at least a 45 minute drive to the entrance and over an hour to get to Yosemite Village.
For the hotels part, we had a great stay. Unfortunately, we got sick during our visit. We contacted the front desk to arrange another nights stay. They were very quick to arrange another night for us. Thank you to the staff!
The staff was very friendly and courteous. The was nice, clean and comfortable. The internet for TV was less than stellar but considering you are in the mountain it is to be expected. Otherwise a very please stay and I would recommend to family and friends.
We were extremely satisfied with our stay at BW at Mariposa. It went above our expectations when we found the nice hot breakfast to start our day. The hotel was clean throughout and amenities were in good shape. The hotel looked well maintained.
I must say that we really like the staff and that they were very friendly and respectful. They went to great lengths to not only help us but others that were staying there. The room was about what I expected from the pictures. I would love to stay here again... if... The hot breakfast was meh.. (do not get the burrito the bagel topper is so much better) After a day of hiking and moving it would have been nice to be able to use the spa/hot tub since the room tubs weren't nearly as deep to rest sore bodies in... And add on top of that the beds, as others have mentioned, are not the most comfortable it was even more doubly wished to have a hot soak. Besides that the location is great!
Beds were horrible - hard and very uncomfortable. We didn't sleep well at all. I felt like the carpets could be replaced. There was one night with a questionable couple fighting in the parking lot. Other than that, the people were pleasant and we liked the location. Mariposa is a cute town. It was a good value. If the beds were better, we would definitely stay there again.
A nice place to take your family for a quick get away. Great access to Yosemite (40 minutes). The entire hotel staff was friendly and professional. Large TV's in the rooms for your nighttime enjoyment. Comfortable beds and an excellent shower.
We had a good stay here while visiting Yosemite during the day. The rooms were clean and I enjoyed the hot tub in the evening. The breakfast to go bags were convenient- not everything in the bag was to my taste (eww donut 'sticks') but the fruit was fresh and granola barsars made a handy snack later on! My only comment is that the walls in the side-by-side rooms are pretty thin! Thankfully our neighbors turned the TV down before bed. Staff were very friendly.
Excellent service and stay. The carry out breakfasts (because of COVID) were excellent and convenient for driving into Yosemite. We walked into Mariposa one night for dinner and the hotel has a lovely little trail behind it. Phillip's customer service was top notch.
This was my first stay at a motel in decades so I was not sure what to expect. Our room was not cutting edge but it was so clearly well looked-after. That is, how many large hotels invest loads of money in upgrading/updating only to have housekeeping and maintenance totally ignore regular upkeep? Wear, tear, dings in the walls, this/that not working? It is too frequent. At this hotel management is clearly keeping up and the place was clean and maintained—one compliments the other and they're rare in most hotels. That said, the motel is located within walking distance to restaurants—and there are several in Mariposa. It is also nearby to Mariposa's shops, such as they are, and across the street from basic shopping for snacks and drinks. The Best Western in Mariposa is a solid choice if you are headed to Yosemite or otherwise find yourself in Mariposa.
Nice, clean rooms, refrigerator, microwave. At least one person at the front desk 24/7. Business center, free coffee, tea, juices in the lobby 24/7. Breakfast bags consisted of some breakfast item to be reheated (breakfast burrito, breakfast bagel, etc.), yogurt, granola bar, apple, bottle of water. Staff is wonderful, attentive to any of our questions or requests, it was truly enjoyable experience interactive with them. Plenty of parking. Wi-Fi in the rooms. Highly recommend!
If you're looking for a clean and comfortable place to stay with great customer service and good proximity to Yosemite this is fantastic option. The place is a little dated, however it is clean and within walking distance to a small convenience store and restaurants. With all of the restrictions due to COVID-19 they provided a very adequate breakfast. It was disappointing that after a very hot days in the park we were not able to enjoy the pool, or the hot tub. But this is no fault of the hotels. Philip is an asset to this establishment, he was professional, courteous, and informative. The level of customer service he provided, particularly for someone of his age is highly commendable. We will return if we ever visit Yosemite again.
Breakfast packages were very good, microwavable part, apple, water and muffin for each person. Staff was very nice and helpful. Yosemite is around 30 minutes away on a curvy road. They keep the rooms empty for 24 hours between visitors.
Our family of 4 (2 boys ages 9 & 12) visited Yosemite for the first time. Instead of driving back home after an exciting 14 miles hiking day at Yosemite, we stayed at the Best Western Plus. The hotel was great for our Yosemite visit. It was located in the heart of downtown Mariposa on highway 140. The front desk lady was nice. The room was clean. The To Go goody bags were great for our 3 1/2 hour road trip back home. Thank You Best Western!
After a big day out in Yosemite, we welcomed our arrival to the Best Western Plus for the night with our Trafalgar tour. The rooms were comfortable and the hotel had washing facilities. There was a little road noise being on the highway but didn't interfere with our rest for the night. We decided to have nibbles in one of our rooms & then sit on the veranda with other fellow travellers for some relaxing drinks & tales to be told. Breakfast was good with enough to be eaten before heading off for San Fran.
Decided to stay at this Best Western to be able to visit Yosemite Valley. We picked this hotel because it was pet friendly, had a microwave and a refrigerator. Pet friendly room had tile floor which is always a plus. Room had coffee maker, iron and small closet. Distance of hotel to nearby restaurants was one to two blocks- definately walkable! Downtown Mariposa very walkable cute and quaint town. Yosemite did end up being about a 40 minute drive on the 140 from this hotel. Hotel and location is pretty great. Would most likely stay here again. They have free complementary breakfast. Hotel did a wonderful job during COVID-19 outbreak to sanitize breakfast area! Every time someone touched anything staff was attentive and prepared with sanitation products and wiped surfaces! Good Job! Would stay here again.
I had a business meeting in Midpines CA at a very spur of the moment. I was pleased to find a Best western in Mariposa CA only a few miles from my meeting local. The staff was friendly, the location was clean and comfortable, and there were many choices to choose for a nice dinner. I would look forward to staying again for business or pleasure.
We drove into Mariposa from Vegas late evening. We planned on only one night before visiting Yosemite. We had no complaints about our room and appreciated all the in-room amenities. I wouldn't have minded staying a little longer if our itinerary allowed. There was a little market across the road which would have been handy if we needed anything especially considering the hour of our arrival. The stay included breakfast which had a great selection of hot and cold items that helped get us through our day in Yosemite. The room was clean and comfortable.
I really wanted to give this place a better rating because I typically love staying at Best Western. The staff here were very friendly and the location of this place is perfect for walking to town. How ever when it comes to the actual stay it was not what I'm used to for a Best Western. The room was small and had an odd musty smell when we arrived but it was the bed that really ruined the trip. I've slept on floors that were softer than these beds. Like we were laying on wooden boards. Unfortunately we checked out exhausted and sore.
We based ourselves in Mariposa for a visit to Yosemite for a couple of days. This was the perfect spot in this wonderful little town. Everyone, not just the at the Best Western, were helpful and friendly. We couldn't have asked for better. The breakfast included with our stay was excellent. We will definitely visit again if we get the chance.
Great place, friendly staff and beds and rooms are really tidy. Very handy locations to Yosemite if you are only doing a day or two. Easy access to town and a short walk to most things. Would recommend to anyone passing through.
Very comfortable stay at convenient town location. Always stay here when in the area to visit family. Friendly staff, clean rooms, good beds. Waffles with a BW right in the middle and sausage and cranberry juice for breakfast. I reiterate : Very comfortable stay at convenient town location. Always stay here when in the area to visit family. Friendly staff, clean rooms, good beds. Waffles with a BW right in the middle and sausage and cranberry juice for breakfast.
Stayed there while visiting Yosemite park, good choice of place to stay near Yosemite with several dining options in Mariposa, after two nights stay we decided to cancel the third night there since we decided to change our trip plan, the hotel stuff was very friendly and the cancellation done without extra charge
very good hotel , easy location to yosemite park.Mariposa is a small pretty town with lot of food options staff are very helpful and accomodating .the breakfast had everything you need . i would recommend to anyone who visits yosemite to stay at this beautiful place .
This is a very good hotel, the staff was very caring.Breakfast was very nice.location is very easy to reach there.Good hotel with nice service.i will come again when ever i will be here in california.thanks
This is a very good place to stay and the team of workers go above and beyond to make your stay excellent. The breakfast is a full breakfast and good and hot. We will be staying at this hotel more when we come to Yosemite it is only about 1 hour out of the valley.
staff were nice and helpfull . clean rooms and bathroom . to go to yosemite valley this is the muct stay property with the small awsome town with various awesome restaurants and bars. i would recommmend to anyone who wanna visit yosemite park
Good hotel with good rates to stay close to but not within Yosemite National Park. Good central location to access all of the western Yosemite Park entrances. Nice walk to dinner spots - Mariposa has good restaurant choices and easy walk from the Best Western. Close views of the devastation of a CA forest fire - 2019 Briceburg fire that had just been brought under control prior to our visit. Thank the firefighters.
The motel location is quite good as it is near Yosemite and within wlking distance from town center where most restaurants and shops are. The room was very spacious. Breakfast was a disappointment when compared to some BW+ inns we stayed.
We hiked from the Yosemite Valley floor to El Capitan; a round trip of approximately 17 miles. As we headed back to the Best Western Hotel in Mariposa we talked about the relaxing hot baths we would take to ease our fatigued muscles. When we turned on the faucet in our room at 9 PM there was no hot water. The Best Western Hotel was fully booked that night and we suspect the number of guests using hot water exceeded the hotel's storage capacity. A serious bummer!! The following morning the water temperature was tepid at best. A lethal flaw for a hotel as far as we are concerned.
We were very pleased with our stay at this hotel. The beds could be upgraded but overall we had a positive experience. It is in a great location to visit Yosemite. We recommend you consider staying here.
Expensive for the basic style of hotel but obviously not for its location. Large room fridge microwave large vanity area coffee facilities. It provides everything needed but not value for money. I guess that's due to it's convenient location to Yosemite. Across the road are a few eateries and liquor store. Walking distance are a few local stores. Great for a stop over for Yosemite although a little too far to use as a base as it's over an hour. It's very expensive compared with a hotel the night before that was more modern and this hotel was four times the price for a more dated hotel. Whilst comfortable it's quite dated and the sheets are well worn. The staff were very friendly. Breakfast was scrambled eggs sausages gravy biscuits waffles porridge cereals fruit toast pastries. WiFi ok not brilliant. Loads of parking.
Easy check in with very helpful friendly staff very clean and everything you would need. Very good choice at self service breakfast in an excellent location for Yosemite. This Hotel is in a lovely town which is full of character and well worth a visit.
This hotel has everything you need- good spacious rooms, clean and tidy. The pool is a nice extra, especially in the intense heat. Staff friendly, washing facilities, and a good breakfast included in the price of the room.
I would say this is the nicest place to stay in Mariposa. Rooms are simple but very clean. The blinds block out all sun. Our room was on the backside of the building. Was very quiet there. Nice little walking trail takes you right into town so no need to drive. The complimentary breakfast had a large selection and was wonderful. Has a work out room and pool. Lots of parking.
Very clean , good location close to Yosemite park.Nice little town with several good restaurants. The staff at the hotel were very helpful with traveling advice on the roads to take to get in the park and surrounding areas.
We enjoyed this on our way into Yosemite. The motel is clean and comfortable and we had everything we needed for a good night's rest before a 45 minute drive to the park.A nice little town with several dinner options but we loved Charles Street Dinner House. We found the breakfast very good and they even had a gluten free cereal option for my wife though she had to ask about it.
We stayed in this hotel as opposed to staying in the park. It was about a 30 mile drive through beautiful scenery so we felt we chose well and saved quite a bit on the accom. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The staff were helpful and gave good recommendations for food etc. Breskfast was included and had plenty of choices available.
Wonderful hotel. Clean, excellent breakfast. Close to Yosemite - which was our purpose for visiting the area. Laundry facility was of great use ! Would recommend to families and others traveling in the area.
This was a very clean, well maintained, motel. I admit I spent most of my time exploring nearby Yosemite National Park while avoiding the expensive park hotels. You could use this hotel both for exploring the gold rush town of Mariposa (a full day on its own) or seeing Yosemite. Outside appearance looks like by far the nicest hotel in Mariposa.
This was my first time staying in a Best Western and I was pleasantly surprised! My family was visiting Yosemite with 2 small children, and all of the hotels in Yosemite were booked by the time we booked our trip, so we decided on the Best Western based on other reviews. It's located in Mariposa, which is very close (~35 min drive) to the Mariposa Grove (Giant Sequoias), at the southern tip of the Yosemite. It's about an hour to the Valley though, so you should take that into consideration when planning travel. We didn't love the idea of driving home at night with our small kids, so we always left as early as possible in the morning, so we could return from Yosemite Valley before dark. The hotel room was extremely clean--especially the bathroom and they had a very plentiful breakfast spread, with very helpful and accommodating people running the morning rush. There is also a small pool with a few chairs, tables, and loungers if you have time for that. We also took advantage of their washer/dryer, as we were on a long trip and needed to do laundry. (I think you can buy detergent at the front desk.) We did have an issue upon check in, where they forgot to put a crib in our room (after repeated requests and reminders prior to our arrival) and unfortunately, even after we got one, the gentleman on duty the night we arrived didn't know where the crib sheets were, as he probably only works the graveyard shift. It was definitely frustrating BUT the manager was made aware the following morning and remedied the situation immediately, and left a lovely personalized note in our room with a small welcome bag with a few waters and snacks. Honestly, that really went a long was and was a very nice touch. My only other gripe is that there are no elevators, so my husband had to carry our very heavy luggage up to the second floor. (I personally don't love the idea of staying on the first floor of a motel.) The nearby town in about a 3-minute drive and has some cute restaurants. Would definitely consider this hotel again if I couldn't stay in Yosemite!
Like everyone else, stayed here while visiting Yosemite. If you can't stay in the park and want to be in a town, Mariposa is the best choice. About a 45 minute drive into the West entrance to Yosemite, the town offers a number of shops, restaurants and services. The Best Western was really quite nice, we are glad we stayed here – myself and my two kids. Easy parking, the beds were comfortable and the room was exceptionally clean. There is ice and vending on each floor and one is in downtown and can walk to eateries and shops. Plenty of hot water, shower was strong, plenty of power outlets and the WiFi signal was good. The pool was smallish but welcoming and VERY popular each evening as was the adjoining hot tub. Breakfast starts slightly late in my opinion (6:30am) but is a varied and decent spread. We would definitely stay here again if in Mariposa
We were a bit unsure as to what to expect from a 'motel', but trusted the BW Plus brand enough to give it a go, and we are very glad we did. The room was big and comfortable. Ours was on the ground floor so you'd expect some noise, but we barely heard a thing. The air conditioning was a little noisy but it worked well. The staff were very helpful and the lady that checked us in gave us some great recommendations for food. We stayed here specifically so we could be close to Yosemite's park entrance, and it was a manageable distance away. We'd stay here again.
What did I just pay for? You pull up and the exterior of the building is disturbingly in bad shape, paint peeling and plaster chipped. No WiFi for the two nights we are there. There was a piece of carpet torn up in the room, the logic was the just tie it down with string. String!!! We tripped over it, until we had to put a chair over it to avoid it. You are still an hour from Yosemite and/or Mariposa Grove. But hey, $300 a night. It is a true “motel” approach with access being from the outside. The breakfast is in a nice building across the parking lot by the pool. The breakfast spread is the most positive part of your stay. Hearty, plenty of options, protein, and vegetarian options. The room wasn't much to look at, but smelled clean when we entered. This put us at a little bit of easy since when we pulled up the outside appearance makes you want to run. There is a microwave and refrigerator in the room but no safe. Did I mention $300 a night? The cleaning staff will give you a friendly smile. The lady making and stocking breakfast is kind and cheerful. The front desk staff on the other hand does not seem to want to be there anymore than you do in that moment. When checking out there was no, “how was your stay?” When hanging by my car I did happen to over hear two employees talking and they mentioned that Best Western was late on paying them- AGAIN! It now made sense that they did not seem thrilled. How sad and disappointing that this big name chain would come into this adorable town (Mariposa really is a cute town) and take advantage of these people. It's disgusting and I will never book another Best Western because of this.
The breakfast staff was exceptional. They were flying around the 3 mornings we ate at the hotel. They were very friendly and constantly busy cleaning and restocking. Among the best service we've experienced both domestic and international.
This was the best breakfast we had of any hotel on our vacation. The pool deck looks like it is about to fall off the hill. The exterior needs a lot of work but inside of room was small but well maintained. They said room was ADA compatible but all that meant was grab bars in bathroom. Wheelchair did not fit around bed into bathroom.
We booked this for 3 nights, following a few days in San Francisco, as part of our 2 week family holiday, with 2 kids, a daughter aged 18 and son 16. We'd spent a lot of time trying to decide on where to stay to be able to visit Yosemite and settled on this based on some of the reviews and costs too. This is exactly what we expected to get too, as this is a budget style hotel and the photos do reflect the standard and age and thus we got exactly as we expected upon arrival. They didn't know about the rollaway bed we needed, but were helpful in sorting this for us. The room on the 3rd floor (second to us) at the front was fine with 2 queen beds and a tv and fridge. It was quiet enough and we weren't woken up at all. Room had air conditioning too. BIG plus is the breakfast, which started at 6.30am and was by far the best of the hotels we stayed in. A good sized room, with plenty of options, including hot eggs, sausage, bacon and oatmeal. Also, you could make your own waffles too. Also, cereals and toast as well as muffins and cakes and drinks. This really set us up for a full day at Yosemite, being able to get up, have breakfast and still be in the centre of the park at the Yosemite Visitor centre by about 8.30am. The drive takes about 45mins or so. There was plenty of parking which was free, as small pool to use too, which was nice just to sit around at the end of the day. In addition, they have laundry facilities to both wash and dry clothes, which we used and was very useful. Also, BIG BIG plus is the town of Mariposa, as this is a classic old cowboy type town, with a great Main street, with lots of restaurants to choose from and a good supermarket at the other end too. It starts right from the hotel, so no long walks for a drink or for something to eat. It has a great community feel and all the people from the hotel , through the restaurants to the people in the supermarket, were friendly, genuine and helpful. Also, based on the costs of all the meals we paid for throughout California over 2 weeks, there were the cheapest. We visited 3 restaurants in Mariposa and were happy with all of them.
Overpriced, but the hotel is clean, and has great staff. Plus is 45min from Yosemite which makes it convenient place to stay. There is also public transportation ( YARTS ) that takes you to the national park, if you don't feel like driving you could take the bus. mariposa town had a nice old town which makes this hotel perfect stay since it is walking distance to the town and transportation to Yosemite.
My friends and I stayed at this location while visiting Yosemite. I liked the close proximity and the town of Mariposa. The hotel was well maintained and so were the rooms. The beds and pillows were average for a "budget" hotel. Beverly was very helpful and friendly regarding our check-in and allowed us to get into our rooms early. The breakfast spread was actually pretty impressive and offered many different options. The gym equipment needed to be serviced and there were no cleaning towels or regular towels, which was very unsanitary. The biggest issue I experienced was the huge mosquito and gnat problem in my room. They were on the ceiling, the wall, and the bed. Being in a wilderness area, I expected there to be a few but not that many and especially not in the room. What I really disliked was how the Front Desk and Housekeeping Managers handled the situation when I talked to them. First i was told, well they are just gnats and that they get into the room every time the door is opened. I explained that having one or two in the room would make sense but not that many. Next I was told that it was my fault for leaving the door open and that I should close it immediately after I enter the room. Although we were visiting Yosemite, that doesn't mean we are outdoors people. We had no reason to keep the door open for any longer than walking in or out of the room, which we kept to a minimum anyway. Next they had the Housekeeping Manager walk me up to my room to examine the bugs (I guess the pictures I took of the room weren't enough). She then tried to use the same spiel of the bugs entering the room when I opened the door. It wasn't until I mentioned bug just don't bum rush an open door that she finally admitted to the housekeepers leaving the doors open the entire time the rooms are being serviced. We then had to walk back to the front desk for them to rectify the situation. I felt the situation could have been handled better and not just brushed off as a minimal problem because we were in the wilderness.
We were 3 family members staying for 2 nights. We found this hotel great : very clean hot tub and swimming pool, great breakfast (with 2 awesome ladies who brightened our day), clean rooms. I definitely recommend!
Clean, friendly staff, nice rooms, full breakfast. Gotta say that this felt more like a slightly better Best Western, not quite a Best Western Plus. We had just stayed at a Best Western Plus in Vegas a few nights before and that one seemed a little more extra, if that makes sense. However, you are in Mariposa about an hour through the Arch Rock entrance to Yosemite.
Our room on the 1st floor was easily accessible. The room was clean and had a great shower, Check-in and check out were easy and the staff showed great customer service. They were very accommodating to our needs. I would recommend this hotel to others.
Very comfortable room. Quiet, considering it was full. The pool is outdoors. The breakfast room is across the parking lot from the main hotel but very close and the food was great. Mariposa is a neat town with good food and drink.
You will pay for the closeness to Yosemite Park. Clean room, good breakfast to get you going. The AC unit developed it's own "beat" through the night. Good location, cute little town with everything you would need, and only 35 miles to the entrance to the park.
I stayed for 2 nights at this hotel with my daughters and a friend. Nice friendly front desk staff. Liked the free coffee and juice in the lobby and the free breakfast was delicious with lots to choose from. I used the laundry facilities which were spotless. Our room was nothing fancy but clean and spacious. Mariposa is such a cute town and perfect for catching the YARTS bus into the park our first day. The second day we drove and took 140 into the park and 41 leaving the park to visit Mariposa Grove. The hotel's location made this a perfect scenic drive. Would definitely stay here again if we come back
Hotel itself is quite run down and expensive for what it is. It can only charge the prices that it does due to the location and proximity to Yosemite (albeit still 80-90 minutes out). The staff were good, however, and there is a very basic breakfast provided. I would not stay here again and would urge the management to invest in updating the rooms.
At the end of a month long holiday in the US with road trip from Seattle to LA via Yosemite that only worked to be on Memorial Day weekend. I booked months ago and could not work out why everything in Mariposa was so expensive. (Being international traveller I had no idea it was a holiday weekend) Booked directly with BW and that sort of information would be helpful as part of booking process. All that said, it was a typical Best Western Motel with clean room, comfortable bed and spotless bathroom. Only complaint was an adjoining room door was not at all sound proof and we could hear every word spoken by the thankfully quietly spoken guests next door. Breakfast was plentiful. Staff were friendly and helpful
Booked early so i got a good rate compared to other area hotels. Proximity to Yosemite park was the main reason for picking and it didn't disappoint. Good breakfast, walking distance to other restaurants, low traffic.
My mom and I stayed at the Best Western Plus in Mariposa, CA, for a weekend trip to Yosemite. Since we had never been before, we didn't really know what to expect. This hotel is definitely a hidden gem on the way to Yosemite. Only about 30-40 minutes from the park entrance and such a beautiful drive to the hotel and from the hotel to Yosemite. The room was very clean with all of the necessary amenities and the high speed wifi was an added bonus! Had one of the best night's sleep I've ever had at a hotel too. The free breakfast buffet is awesome. Incredibly well stocked and well maintained. And the fresh fruit was delicious! Not to mention that the waffle making station was very impressive. Staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. And the town of Mariposa is quaint and picturesque, with plenty to do and eat. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quality place to stay and experience the local community while in the area.
This motel was way over priced for the quality you receive. But it is outside of Yosemite by about 1 hour so if you don't want to pay the prices in the park you are limited. The mattresses were terrible and linens old, pillows not great. Breakfast was fine with the usual items.
The Best Western Plus Yosemite Way Station is perfectly located at the beginning of the main strip in Mariposa. The town itself is charming with and old time feel. The main street had several dinning options which were all in walking distance to the hotel. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and rooms were clean. We were also able to use the laundry facility at the hotel which was convenient. The complementary breakfast buffet had a nice spread with many options. If you are okay with an hour and 20 minute scenic drive in to Yosemite this is a great option.
Spent two nights here in April. Great hotel. Rooms are spacious and extremely clean, the beds are very comfortable. Staff were lovely and very welcoming. Breakfast was great with a nice selection of food. Very handy location when visiting Yosemite National Park - it is about a half an hour drive from the hotel
A reasonably priced hotel in a useful location as you skip down the Sierra Nevada between the Yosemite and Kings Canyon National Parts. It was good to have a room right next to the car so that bags did not have to be carried to far! Room as clean and comfortable. Breakfast was just across the parking lot and was adequate, served by two cheerful ladies! Best to get a room at the back of the hotel otherwise you might get woken by road noise.
Carlos, Beverly & Skye are such a friendly, welcoming team. The location of this hotel is perfect, situated right beside a beautiful creek, a grocery store across the road and the old town of Mariposa within walking distance. We were delighted with our wheelchair accessible room & parking set -up and we'll definitely return here for another Yosemite adventure!
On a road trip out from San Francisco we stumbled into this town while making our way towards Yosemite. Skye did a fantastic job checking us to some ideal rooms for our family. We then bugged her multiple times over 2 days with questions and requests which she always helped with a never ending friendly smile and attitude! For breakfast the lady on duty was also super helpful showing us Aussies the correct way to make waffles! Rooms were clean and warm and the service was great. Plenty of good spots to walk up to for dinner each night so 5 stars for this stay!
Nice place, clean throughout, comfy beds, quiet night's sleep. Breakfast starts 6:30 and typical. Clean and comfortable, plenty of pillows. Motel style with all entry doors outside, not internal hallways. Good location to downtown Mariposa.
Great hotel and super friendly staff. Everything was super clean and quiet. We did not take advantage of the breakfast or pool though. Short walk to a super cute downtown with shops and restaurants. Would fully recommend.
We had entered from the south and spent a day in the park, and this was the perfect place to drive out at the end of the day. Great restaurants in town and a good breakfast. From here we were able to easily explore the gold rush towns in sonora, Columbia and Jamestown before heading on to SFO.
Nice motel with large well appointed rooms set in lovely little town of Mariposa just outside the Yosemite National Park. Breakfast is in a separate building on site and the buffet was very good with a large range of items, including lots of fruit, to choose from.
This place is amazing from the prices to the comfort of the bed and the amazing breakfast in the morning. I absolutely love this place and recommend this place to anyone that visits Yosemite Park. And the town of Mariposa is a great little place to escape from reality.
Stayed for two nights at Best Western Plus in Mariposa, whilst visiting Yosemite. Check-in by Skye was friendly and quick. She recommended a great place to eat (see separate review for Charles Street Dinner House) and there were plenty of options within walking distance of the hotel. The room was very spacious. The bathroom was on the small side, but as the sink was outside the bathroom everything was good. Everywhere looks as though it has undergone a recent renovation. The room had a very good heater which was welcome for the chilly nights. Breakfast is served in a separate building (which also houses the coin laundry). There was a bus tour in when stayed, so we deliberately waited till the bus had departed to go to breakfast. The server said how busy it had been earlier. The breakfast items were all well stocked, with scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, biscuits and gravy. There was also a good selection of cereals, hot oatmeal with toppings, a waffle machine, and a wide selection of breads. We would certainly recommend this hotel when visiting Yosemite. It's about an hour to the park, following a picturesque route along the river
Took 20 minutes to check in and was given a room that had clearly been used for people to have sex in, took another 20 minutes or so to get a change of room in which the TV did not work. They have also charged me twice for staying and have not released my funds into my account yet, and this seems to be a common problem after a quick Google search about booking through booking.com with best western.
We stayed a night there and found the hotel as basic and adequate to our needs. The room and the bathroom were clean. The buffet breakfast was good and the staff in charge of the breakfast were polite and helpful. The only downside is that there was no lift at the motel and my elderly parents had to climb a flight of stairs to get to our second floor room. Also we were not able to get our television in the room to work so thus we instead went straight to bed.
We enjoyed our stay. Room was clean, we slept great on the bed. Our room had a couch, which was nice so we could sit and talk. Loved its proximity to town. We could walk to dinner and explore the shops. Appx an hour Yosemite. It took us about 2 hours to get to Taft Point.
We overnighted in Mariposa as a means of breaking up the long drive to Yosemite, and chose the Best Western based on reviews of the property. It lived up to its billing as being a decent, no-frills motel that's good for one night (and one night only, at least for us.) We checked in late, so we had no choice of any rooms - we were given a ground floor room facing the street. The room was adequate, but nothing special. It wasn't in pristine condition, nor was it shabby. Just so-so. Mariposa is a small but charming town, and everything is within walking distance from the BW. Unfortunately, the motel is situated right along the highway, so at times noise can be an issue. We did not avail ourselves to the "free" breakfast, but instead dined at Happy Burger Diner, which was most likely better than anything that BW dished out.
We arrived around 17:00 and the hotel was almost completely empty tbut hey gave us a room next to street and refused to give us another room at the back side of the hotel despite we had a booking for 3 nights! The room itself was ok but it was like the trucks were driving thru the room. Had 3 bad nights! This attitude will influence Such behavior at the receptioin will certainly affect my behavior and I will think twice in the future to book other best western hotels if there are alternatives.
Arrived after a long drive, front office friendly and very helpful - especially after an issue we had with the booking agency - BEWARE - book ONLY through the BW, TA or Booking websites ( NOT Getaroom.com - refunds impossible and excessive overcharging ! ) Room was very good, comfortable, good size fridge, TV, bathroom, absolutely no issues there. Breakfast in nice room next to the Pool was quite good, 9/10 there - very clean and plentiful warm / cold items. Very convenient for Yosemite, next to highway, but quiet - no noises, we were on the ground level, very satisfactory.
We enjoyed our stay the hotel is in a great location for a visit to Yosemite National Park.the service was very good the breakfast was good If you want a place to set do not wait till 8:15 as the room is a little small for the size of hotel. Our stay was great.
My family and I stayed 2 nights at the Best Western Plus Yosemite Way Station Motel. We enjoyed it a lot. The distance to the NP is reasonable. The rooms are well appointed, modern and clean. The breakfast was the best of any of the eight motels of our trip through the Southwest. And the staff very friendly and helpful. It is a very good choice for a Yosemite NP visit.
We left Yosemite late so we decided to stay in Mariposa. The Best Western is a no frills hotel with several guests either going or coming from Yosemite. The clientele was very nice. The room does not have comfortable chairs but the beds were OK. The check in was easy and they accommodated our need for a lower level room on the quiet side of the building which is in back. Everything in the room was clean. The refrigerator was noisy so we unplugged it. We slept well and were on our way the next evening. Thank you Best Western. The price was reasonable too. we did not eat the breakfast at the hotel as there are some cute little cafe's and an organic grocery store in town that offers an excellent breakfast and coffee.
The staff and the rooms are excellent. You couldn't start the day any better than with a wonderful breakfast and thoughtful and helpful staff on hand! I would most definitely recommend staying here, you won't be disappointed
We stayed at BW Plus Yosemite Way Station Motel for 2 nights to visit Yosemite National Park. The motel was in a convenient location to drive into and out of the Park every day. The motel was on a noisy traffic road, but it has a sidewalk to walk into Mariposa which has many good restaurants. The motel has a big breakfast room which was so wonderful. The lobby had no creamer except powdered for coffee when all BW have liquid creamers. The air conditioning is terribly loud which was annoying. The sheets were awful with a cheap, uncomfortable feel to them for sleeping on, not typical at most BW's. The ceiling lights above the bed were excellent for reading which was much appreciated and something all BW's should do. The bathroom door opened up right up to the toilet so you can't close the door which was an awful setup. It's a good choice if you're wanting to be fairly close outside the Park entrance.
Enjoyed our 3 night stay at this hotel. It was reasonably priced compared to the ones inside the park and not too far of a drive to YNP's Arch Rock entrance. It is also within walking distance to restaurants. Staff was friendly and helpful. The "breakfast ladies" worked hard to accommodate guests on a busy morning by clearing tables as soon as vacated and repleneshing breakfast items. They also provide varied breakfast options. My only criticism is that they should offer smokers a spot away from the hotel so that non-smokers don't walk through smoke on the way to/from breakfast area. In spite of that we'll stay here again on our return to visit YNP.
We stayed for 2 nights in this motel in Mariposa and was very happy with the room and the service. The rooms are clean and spacious with 2 large beds, coffee machine, vanity area, flat screen TV and airconditioning. There is a small pool area with a hot tub which was very relaxing after a long days travelling. After staying in more expensive hotels earlier in our trip I was fearful that this motel would not be to the same standard. However I was proven wrong, and found our stay here very enjoyable. Mariposa is a lovely quaint little town with a number of nice resturants and bars. The locals are welcoming and friendly. The hotel is directly over the road from a shop and a number of cafes and eateries, and all resturants are within walking distance. We booked this hotel as the ones in yosemite park were a lot more expensive and we are really pleased we did. it was only a short 40 minute car journey into the park which we did on a guided tour on one of the days. This hotel is very good value for money and I would definitiely stay here again.
Accomodations in Yosemite park need to be booked very much in advance, and they're quite expensive. This hotel is still at a reasonable driving distance from Yosemite valley (60 minutes by car, you can hardly do any better than that). Breakfast is good and they have a variety of foods there. The pool is OK,. biut the whirlpool is super - particularly if your muscles ache after a long day of hiking.
Clean hotel. Friendly, helpful young man on reception who fixed our tv which we were having problems with. Not the best pool area, very small and not the cleanest. Good breakfast. The bed was clean bad comfortable. Mariposa is a cute town. Don't go to burger king the staff are rude.
This is a nice hotel with excellent breakfast near Yosemite. It is a little pricey but that is to be expected in this area. The room itself was large but the furniture other than the bed was very uncomfortable. The desk chair felt like it would tip over backwards when I sat in it. My only complaint was the front desk staff really didn't care if they got our business or not. They are sold out most of the time and they obviously don't need our business. The day before we were due to arrive, the hotel put through the charge for over $500 (3 nights). that would be fine, but the credit card company flagged it as possibley fraudulent and waited to hear from us before they cleared it. We were in Yosemite with no mobile phone service, so didn't know anything about it. Later that day, we got an unfriendly email from the hotel saying that the charge was denied (it wasn't) and that if we didn't fix it right away, we could just find different accommodations. I still had no mobile service so had to borrow someone's phone to iron things out. The other thing I didn't realize is how long it takes to drive from the hotel to the park. I knew it was 45 miles away, but I didn't know it takes up to 2 hours to drive that 45 miles. My suggestion is to take the public transportation YARTS.
The staff at this hotel was fantastic. The hotel is older so all the rooms have to be enter from the outside. The rooms have been updated and are large and have a sitting area. The hotel is near a creek with a walking trail. The location is close enough to town that you can walk to dinner and shops in town. The breakfast area was large and the people taking care of it were the best. Next time I am in the area I will be staying here again.
Very nice people at the recection. The hotel is very confortable, nice breakfast and nice swimming pool and services. We had a little problem with the refrigerator and they solve it quickly. Nice place to stay for Yosemite.
We booked this room at the last minute so we could visit Yosemite. They accomodated us with a quiet, upper level room, as we requested. This motel was easy to find, you could walk to food or to see the town if you wanted to. It was clean, staff friendly, breakfast good/clean area. We'd stay again.
We spent a night at this hotel on our way to Yosemite. We booked at very short notice as the park was closed due to the wildfires and we needed somewhere to stay the night before the park opened. The hotel is basic but was fine for an overnight stay on the way to Yosemite. It has a pool and a laundromat, which was convenient. It also offers a basic breakfast. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Hannah and Skye recommended a restaurant (Charles Street) for steak - the food was excellent, thank you!
We went there in order to visit the Yosemite Park which was closed due to the Ferguson Fire. We scheduled to have an overnight stay and we decided to stop anyway. The hotel is a classic BW...but the pool was a bit dirty. Said so...good service, good breakfast...everything in the average
Dirty pool area, no body takes care of cleaning. Breakfast room chairs where washed but not dried and got us all dirty with this brownish fluid all over, Bahhh. Laundry room is a definite plus ! Rooms are dark and dirty, the carpets knew better days, they weren't washed properly for few years at least. Bathroom fan is extremely loud, the bathroom itself so tiny they have to put the shampoo next to the coffee maker outside the bathroom. And we met some Crowley friends.
We chose this hotel as our basecamp to explore Yosemite NP. You can then enter the park either from the West or the South entrance. The room was good, clean and had all we needed, fridge, TV, bathroom. The breakfast has plenty including some fresh fruits.
We planned to use Mariposa as a stay-over before visiting Yosemite the next day. It proved to be an ideal choice. The BW is towards the edge of Mariposa which is quite a small town. Everything, hotel and town looks very quaint. The hotel is standard. The staff are friendly and efficient and the room is clean and tidy. There is a small pool area and there is loads of car parking spaces. A five-ten minute walk takes you towards town where you can find a range of eating places. The free breakfast is the standard fare, good quality with a range of choices but is does get a bit busy with people setting out for the park.
Mariposa is a small town, 45-60 minutes from the Yosemite gate. Unless you're booking a year in advance, you won't be staying IN Yosemite, so this is a good option. I was hoping for “clean and comfortable” at this BW, and it was. The bathroom was very clean and you could tell they've updated things recently. It doesn't look promising on the outside. Beds were comfortable. The staff was great. Breakfast was what you expect: pastries, muffins, waffles, hot items, yogurt etc. The pool is pretty small, but there's a large deck and it backs up to a wooded area (nice). You can take a lovely wooded path to walk to nearby restaurants.
We stayed at this motel for our visit to Yosemite. It was very clean & comfortable; the staff were very friendly & hospitable. Very helpful to have breakfast there when you want to get an early start driving to Yosemite. Lots of historical sites and nice restaurants nearby in Mariposa.
The hotel is located around 40 minutes drive from Yosemite and that is the reason we stayed as it offered the opportunity to get the park early which we were advised to do. Apart from the good location the hotel is basic motel fare, this said the room we had was large, clean and comfortable and a good shower. The pool which we used was also clean and well maintained. The staff were all very welcoming and the buffet breakfast a welcome addition. Should you stay in town make sure you check out the park and the very moving memorial it has the victims of the 9/11 attacks.
This property will never win "hotel of the month" but it was a nice place to stay for visiting Yosemite. If you go down for breakfast, go early as there can be a lot of people in the breakfast room. I'd come back.
This motel has a great location, right on Hwy 140, all employees were friendly. Room was clean, bathroom good. Nice pool. Close walking proximity to restaurants, and necessities. Merchants friendly. We sat by the pool and listened to a band playing next door, that was a treat!
We stayed three nights here while exploring Yosemite. It's a 30 mile drive into Yosemite, but hotels closer to the park were not pet friendly, so it was our best option. There is a nice walking path from the hotel to town where we walked our dogs. Breakfast was included and was adequate.
IF you want to know what it is like to be in a room with furniture that is from the 70's. This is the place for you. Our room was sooo gross. Hair clumps, dirty carpet and disgusting bedding. In fact, I had brought with me a throw blanket in the car - and I slept in that blanket without a pillow because I thought the bedding was so disgusting. I know this hotel is one of the only ones closest to Yosemite; but, do yourself a favor and choose anything else. When I complained to the manager about the condition of the hotel - the response was "thanks for your feedback." My guess is they get a lot of complaints.
We understand that the accommodation in the Yosemite area is generally older but as we paid over $280 per night we expected something better. The room was dated, decor not great and the worst thing was with the air con. The hotel doesn't have central air con or heating. As it was scorching hot outside we found it essential to keep the air con on. The noise, comparable to an operating lawnmower, had kept us awake. We had no choice but turned it off and slept through the night, even though it was so hot outside. We planned some big hikes the next day so it was less than ideal that we didn't get to have a good sleep. The breakfast was mediocre, full of processed scrambled eggs and sausages. Coffee was tasteless. The only upside was the waffle making machine. For some strange reason they only provided plastic cutlery, not great for the environment and also reminded us of a cheap canteen.
We were staying at Cedar Lodge approx. 25 mi north of Mariposa and closer to Yosemite. However, we were thoroughly disappointed. So we drove to Mariposa and were so lucky to have found this place with a clean laundry room and very friendly staff! Can't say much more, as we didn't actually sleep there.
We ended up here by accident. We flew in to San Francisco from Orlando and drove over 4 hours from the airport. We got there at 9:00 p.m. after being up since 2:30 a.m. We had a reservation for another BW hotel 26 miles away (my niece Googled the wrong one). The lobby staff were as nice as they could be, very understanding, and extremely accommodating. Two of the employees, one of which was the manager, called the other BW in Oakhurst and tried to cancel our reservation so I wasn't charged for the night. No such luck, which is currently being disputed with my credit card company. I just wanted to go to bed and didn't feel like driving anymore. I was given a room at the manager's rate on the first floor. It was a very nice and spacious room. I was given maps and directions to Yosemite. I even found out that we were closer to the park entrance than we would have been at the other hotel. This hotel is located in a pretty little town. I kinda wish we'd had more time to explore. I also wish it was closer to San Francisco because it would have been nice to spend our entire vacation there. Breakfast was good -- biscuits and gravy -- yum! Thanks again to the wonderful staff!!!
My wife and I stayed here after going to Yosemite for 2 days. You can walk everywhere in Mariposa for food after your long day in Yosemite. The rooms are big and nothing special. They have a pool and breakfast but didn't try either. We had no issues with our stay.
Stayed here for 2 nts and the rooms were as i expected but nothing special. breakfast was decent enough but they were let down by the room attendant who didnt clean the bath after we used it and didnt replace some of the face towels in the bathroom and also the paper coffee cups.I would think at the very least those should have been replaced. There are very little food options in mariposa which has no reflection on the hotel but it certainly does not help.
We normally take hotels only with 4 or more points from TripAdvisor but this time we decided to try this place since it was in good location for our Yosemite trip.we booked from BW website with good rate for this season for 2 nights. We arrived before check in at about 2 pm , the room wasn't ready and there was no luggage room but the women at the reception was very kind and gave us a map of the town. The hotel is very near to many restaurants and it's very convenient when you arrive tiered after touring Yosemite which is 60-75 minutes drive. The room is decorated like a old hotel but everything was in great condition including the comfortable bed. Breakfast was very nice with eggs sausage cornflakes bagels muffins fruits waffles cheese and much more. Will gladly return. A good value for money.
For a hoel in the country this hotel was excellent. The rooms were very nice and the breakfasts were very good. The front desk staff were also very helpful. I would recommend this hotel to people visiting Yosemite
This hotel is about 1 hour out of Yosemite. It is easy to fine and the hotel staff were all very friendly. I had a regular room and my only problem was that the tub was a bit slick to stand in for a shower. I should have just placed an extra towel on the bottom of the tub. "Now I think of that"
Very comfortable lodging, located an hour+ outside the Arch Rock entrance to Yosemite National Park. Room and amenities were excellent. Breakfast was pretty standard, with a nice variety of cold and hot offerings. Walking path along a creek leads from the lower parking , past a small park remembering and honoring the 9/11 tragedy, and then on into town. Plenty of choices in town for dining. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
The hotel is a the start of the village. Rooms overlook the main road or, at the back, a car parking and a wall with some green above it. Dark, old, tired with bathroom very clean. To get some privacy you had to pull the thick curtain of the small window and turn the light on. Poor breakfast. The positive: great, professional and sincerely kind staff. But they need a structure at their height!
We loved our one night stay here whilst visiting Yosemite. It was very rustic feeling but clean and in a lovely setting. There was plenty of restaurants to walk to locally, and Mariposa was a delight. Sadly we had to leave before the shops opened but it looked like there were some lovely shops too! We had dinner out, and as me and my friend went to pass out in our rooms, our husbands made the most of the outdoor hot tub which is open until late. Each staff member we encountered were equally as lovely, chatty and helpful. The breakfast was also a great start to the day before getting on the road. We would definitely return if we visit Yosemite again, and hopefully have better luck spotting a bear!!
Stayed 2 nights here when visiting Yosemite which is about an hours drive from Mariposa. The rooms were clean and comfortable and had everything we needed and the staff were friendly. Nice short walk from hotel into the little town so restaurants and bars are easy walking distance.
My partner and I chose this hotel as it was in a convenient location to drive to Yosemite. Upon arrival we were given a ground floor room near to reception. The room was large and spacious with a king sized bed and a sofa. Though the hotel is off a main road noise was minimum at night. There was a good breakfast available in the morning, enough of keep you going. Cereals, bread and pastries, waffles, eggs and a small amount of fruit. The pool was closed for the season whilst we were there which was unfortunate. There are several small restaurants within less than 5 minutes walk. We ate at a pizza parlour and at a diner just further up past the gas stations as you drive towards Yosemite (still in Mariposa) which was excellent. I think it was called happy burger. Overall a well located hotel with good sized rooms and a good breakfast available. Would stay again.
We LOVE road trips! I asked my Husband, "Where are you taking me for my Birthday?"...he came up with the perfect idea-Yosemite! As I had never been before and my Husband hadn't visited since childhood, we were hoping for something close enough to Yosemite NP, comfortable and not too pricey. This was a mid-week, 2 night trip- we knew we would be visiting just before the busy season and there would be a few roads through the park that were not yet open. The Best Western Plus is in a great location for easy access to the area. Mariposa is a charming town with tons of history and this property is in walking distance to shops and restaurants. The driving distance into the park is about 40 miles and given that this was early May- the traffic wasn't bad at all. The rooms are comfortable and although we were in the back, right over the parking lot- it was quiet at night. All that was available was a 2 Queens room but the bed was surprisingly comfy and I slept like a rock. The bathroom has the shower/toilet separate from the sink and vanity and the water pressure was good, the water nice and hot. A microwave, fridge and coffee maker are provided. The TV features Direct TV and can be a bit confusing- I used the channel guide provided in the info binder. They have a really nice breakfast buffet with lots of options- my Husband loved the blueberry waffles!. There is also a small pool, jacuzzi and fitness room, When visiting Yosemite, you will probably spend very little time in your room and if you want a nice, comfy spot that doesn't break the bank- you will be very pleased with this one. The staff is also very helpful with any questions and offer great recommendations for travel routes and dining options. So....I had a GREAT Birthday!
It was a scenic hour's drive between this charming town and the park - no huge crowds during our mid-week visit. Enjoyed our clean and comfortable room on the quieter side away from the highway, and the entire staff - check in, breakfast, housekeeping and check-out - couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. BW Mariposa will be our first choice for lodging if we visit the area again..
Very nice motel in Mariposa close to Yosemite. Friendly staff, good breakfast, laundry facility, accessible room was well laid out. Only real issue was a lack of posted ASAP parking near the room. I recommend this property to you when visiting Yosemite.
One hour drive from Yosemite valley. Good location. Polite staff. Room furniture is well upgraded. Typical breakfast options available. Free parking & ample of parking spots available. Express check-in & check-out.
Cranky staff. Room was a dump especially considering the VERY high room rate price. Clerk refused to honor our diamond select membership. VERY slow check in and the clerk was downright annoying and hostile.
Don't blink, you might miss the driveway! We stayed here on a visit to Yosemite. Were very happy to get a room on short notice. The staff is very friendly, we checked in early and got a room in the back- suggested by the clerk because we would hear less traffic noise. The hotel is more motel style, with outside corridors. Breakfast is typical BW with ample selection of waffles( make your own fresh), scrambled eggs, sausage, fruit, cereal etc.
Stayed only for 1 night, but the room was big and comfortable, balcony is adorable. Great location, good breakfast, very green area, perfect for family vacation. Around 1 hour drive to Yosemite National Park
Nice clean hotel and a good location. The only thing letting it down was the maid service. If you hadn't removed the “do not disturb” sign from your door by 8.00am then the room was not cleaned. Mentioned it to reception to be told it's “their policy”
Easy access to Yosemite about 45 mins drive but the drive in so beautiful that it's worth it. Large clean room hotel on Mariposa Main Street. Breakfast included was Buffett with very good choice of items. Down side was no safe in room there us safe at reception but felt room one would have been better. Some nice restaurants within a few minutes walk .
How could we have known that the crown jewel of all the Best Western hotels we stayed in during our three week road trip throughout Oregon, California, and Arizona would be found in Mariposa?? Manager Dylan and his team excel in their friendliness and hospitality. Their hard work shows in impeccably decorated and maintained rooms and grounds. We strongly recommend this hidden gem when visiting the Yosemite area.
Mariposa lodging has increased their prices in the last 5 years, even in the off season. We tried BW this time since I had points built up. Overall, a decent place to stay. Noisy doors due to the locking mechanism and you must pull hard to shut (woken at 0600 by other guests leaving). The refrigerator has a self defrosting cycle each day, which leaves the internal temp warmer than desired. We asked for No Housekeeping since we were only there for 2 nights, but they did come when we were at Yosemite. They took 2 bath towels and a mat, did not replace those items and left other used linen and the trash. A bit strange.... The remote did not work well and not many channels offered.
Lovely hotel in a lovely town! It was like stepping back into the old wild west. Full of American charm and character! Close to the shops and restaurants and also a short drive to Yosemite. The room was clean and Comfortable with everything you could need, fridge, microwave etc. Very warm after a day in the snow! The breakfast which is included was brilliant! Toast, bagels, cereals, as well as hot cooked breakfast and gravy and biscuits! Ample coffee and tea choices! Loved this hotel would stay again in a heartbeat! The staff were friendly and very helpful!
Located in small but interesting town, with downtown shops. Clean and comfortable. Furnishings slightly dated.Larger than usual breakfast dining area, very well maintained. Would definitely stay again.
The town of Mariposa offers good restaurants. I enjoyed the quaint atmosphere and we walked everywhere from the motel. Plenty of parking. Our room was on the 3rd floor, no elevator. Ridding to the Yosemite gate is 45 mins. I think I would stay in the park next time and pay double just for the convenience. The bed and pillows were pretty decent but the covers were thin. Towels were dingy. There is a microwave, refrigerator and lots of storage.
An hour after making my reservation thru booking.com my car broke down and I called to CXL rez. Neither booking com nor best western hotel seemed to care that I wasn't able to stay at the hotel. I was charged for a full nights stay when I wasn't able to stay at the hotel . I called TWO days before check in, but no one at either company cared. Offered to fax repair shop receipts too. I'm out over $114 for an unused room. Shameful
Ideally located for trips to Yosemite, the staff were friendly and helpful. Easy walking distance from the town. Room was comfortable and spacious; served its purpose perfectly. Breakfast selection was excellent too. Would recommend.
The hotel is close to Yosemite. We needed a place to stay for one night and this worked out fine. The rooms are old but clean. The front desk staff was friendly and quick to check us in. The bad part was when we were woken up early in the morning by someone pretending to be calling from the front desk. He wanted our credit card number stating that their system was down last evening and he couldn't record our information and is in the process of calling all the guests. When we mentioned that we will come down to the reception to verify the information, the person got aggressive and threatened that we need to pack and leave immediately if the card information was not given. We ignored the threat and disconnected and mentioned this incident to the front desk. They were concerned and told us that they will let the town sheriff know since it was not possible to connect to the room directly without someone tampering with their system or someone calling from another room. It was annoying and stressful for us but I hope the hotel took steps to prevent this incident from happening in the future.
Stayed for 3 nights including Christmas, and delighted again. Friendly staff at check in / check out, as well as all the Housekeeping and Breakfast room staff. Breakfast was great, always well stocked, even at the end of service hours. Delighted to find the internet access has been updated and is now super fast, so easy to Face Time with family on Christmas day. That had been the only downside of previous visits. Planning our next Yosemite trip and will be organized and be sure to book early and get a room here.
Whilst driving from Vegas I jumped on line and booked through booking.com. We arrived around 6:30pm and Claire was very friendly and everything was organised. Old but very clean, warm and comfortable. The facilities, the gym and the laundry were added extras that appealed to us. Breakfast was included and whilst not a la carte, was simple and just what we needed heading to the National Park early. Great location and if you are heading to Yosemite it's perfect.
This hotel is reasonably priced, clean and comfortable and is in a perfect location to visit the park and return to Mariposa where dining and shopping options are better than in the park. Staff is super helpful!
I was quite impressed with this hotel I didn't expect much and we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is in a quiet natural park like setting with many trees. The restaurant where the breakfast buffet is served has a nice ski lodge type decor and setting. Breakfast buffet was wonderful and tasty. Helpful staff. The rooms were clean and spacious rooms. I would definitely return.
We had an enjoyable experience with this hotel. The people were friendly, and the breakfast was incredible. It was the best possible place to stay in Mariposa! We enjoyed seeing Yosemite while we were there.
When I arrived at the hotel I waited in line hearing Clair the lady checking people in complaining about guests who stay at the hotel and how aweful hotel customers are to the people in front on me. I wondered does she know the customers of the hotel are what pays her paycheck? I stood in line patiently as she took her time complaining, making me wait longer than necessary. I had to hear her complain to me again when I finally got up front and it was kind of offensive and really bad customer service. I told her I was Diamond member and would be using a gift card to pay part of the balance and she said I should bring it in tomorrow and did not specify a time. When I got to my room I was dismayed to find a phone that did not work and did not have a cord attached. The lights were not plugged in and the TV cable did not work. I had to go downstairs as the phone was not working and Clair treated me like I was troubling her because I insisted I needed a functioning phone in case I needed to call 911. She told me and I quote "what you don't have a cell phone?" She would not go up to my room or send anyone to help. She gave me a cord to plug in my own phone and could not tell me where to plug in the phone. For the cable she told me to turn the box off and on. When I got back up to the room I could not find a place to plug the phone in and the cable still was not working. I have to go downstairs again and load my luggage back into the car as I was not going to pay for a room without the amenities promised. When I got downstairs I asked for a new room and she actually asked me what was wrong with the room even though I had just been downstairs a few moments before. She rolled her eyes at me like I was stupid for wanting a functioning room with TV. She switched rooms for me after I insisted and another traveler on the computer downstairs also had to tell her why it is important to have a functioning phone in the room, and she couldn't understand why I objected to getting on my hands and knees moving furniture trying to plug in a phone because hotel staff (Clair) could not be bothered to help. I could tell I was going to be the next customer she would be complaining about. My next room she put me in also did not have a functioning TV. I called down this time as the phone actually worked, and finally she got off her but to help after coping attitude with me on the phone (they were not busy that evening so I don't understand why it took her so long to try to help me). When she came up she tried all the rooms on that floor and found one that actually worked. So this fiasco with rooms took 3 hours of my time. I was nice at this time even though frustrated. The next day I went downstairs with my gift card and I had the pleasure of meeting Donna. I'm not sure if Donna and Clair are related, but she was just as rude to as Clair. They had already charged my card even though I asked them not to the day before without my gift card. I asked her to credit back the gift card. She took it upon herself to "credit back" my original charges and recharge my card. I asked before she recharged my card again to please not do this as I did not want double charges on my account and was concerned as to when the credit would post, as Christmas was around the corner. She chose to keep my card in her hand and told me she was going to anyway and would not give me my card back. She said I would have to take it up with my bank if the credit card credit did not process. She was not understanding and did not listen to my concerns, charged my card again as she muttered under her breath "unbelievable" becasue I was objecting to how she was handling the situation. When she did this I asked her if she felt she was giving me good customer service and I said I did not have to stay at this hotel, that I am a loyal diamond member with Best Western and I have never had such bad treatment. She said " what because you did not have TV is your room?" I said yes the fiasco last night took three hours of my time after a five hour drive and that Clair treated me badly as she was doing now. She straight up told me "maybe I should stay with a hotel who has better star ratings" I was shocked and said I would include her comments in my review. I want the hotel owner to know his/her staff Clair and Donna are ruining the enjoyment of his/her guests. You see if it were not for their horrible customer service and bad treatment of me from the time I arrived, this hotel would have gotten a good review from me. I travel extensively and would have stayed at this hotel often as I liked the hotel and the location. I could have gotten over the no tv, no phone what I will never get over is people who are in the customer service business treating a paying customer so horribly. My advice to the owner working 20 years in sales and customer service is to get rid of these employees. They are a detriment to your business and do not represent your hotel in a positive way.
This is a typical BW hotel, simple and clean. The room was little bit old. Breakfast was ok. Our choice was based on the fact that was a safe base to visit Yosemite in winter time and no regret. I recommend and service was excellent.
We stayed here just recently and had a lovely visit. The staff were very helpful and friendly, especially Bob, who checked us in. The rooms were spacious and clean and the breakfast was included in the price of the room. It is so nice when you are travelling around to meet people enthusiastic about their town and surroundings and they gave us great recommendations for dinner. All in all a very pleasant visit.
We stayed for a night while visiting yosemite. This hotel was good value for money and approximately 40 minutes outside Yosemite valley. We had a big and clean room, excellent WiFi. The breakfast was good with hot and cold options at breakfast - more than we expected for the hotel and rate. Its in a good location very close to stores, restaurants and bars in Mariposa. There is a pool but it was closed in winter. We'd stay here again.
Nice place. Good people. Free breakfast saves up to $25 for family of four. Wifi was good. A bit far from the park but you get many options to eat at nearby restaurants. I would strongly recommend if you don't mind 2 hours of extra drive.
First off BEST free WiFi I have seen in the country so far, 61MBps download and 37MBps upload! Complementary breakfast thy had a selection of cereals, toast, scrambled eggs, sausages and make your own waffles. The room was clean and reasonably comfortable. Had a bar fridge ?? Lovely Staff. Close to some great restaurants.
A great location in lovely quaint Mariposa. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was spotlessly clean and the room facilities were great, just what you would expect from a Best Western. The breakfast was really good, simple but lots of choice. A very comfortable stay for our trip to Yosemite. I would definitely recommend this hotel. We also visited a lovely restaurant called Savoury's, which is well worth a visit. The restaurant was elegant, with classy decor and the staff were very welcoming and very helpful, an excellent place to enjoy a lovely meal, and it really was a great dining experience.
Room was old and outdated. Throw rugs were dirty and frayed. Room did not seem clean. Bedding was awful. Pillows were lumpy. And this was not a bargain rate. U able to even get breakfast because motel was so crowded with students. Lined up to get into breakfast area
A well kept Best Western with friendly staff. Rooms are clean and well apointed but a little dated. However the rooms was very clean. We recommend eating dinner at Savoury's in town a short walk away.
Having enjoyed and come from a BW Hotel in San José that was excellent, this one was poor. Eight nights and only met 3 staff - 1 couldn't speak English but did her job really well, 1 obviously didn't want to be there and a 3rd on check out was very nice. Faceless management. Guests were served breakfast in a remote building far away from reception or any management and, therefore, supervision. If is wasn't for the good room, we'd have moved out.
The hotel was in a cute, little town about 45 minutes away from Yosemite. The hotel was fine for a one night stay. There was a variety of restaurants in the town and the check-in staff gave us a map of the restaurants' locations and told us what kinds of food was served in each one. This was helpful information. The hotel room was clean and comfortable. It did not have an elevator, but if you park behind the building you enter the building on the second floor. The breakfast was fine.
Friendly reception staff at this motel style hotel. Large and comfortable room, although a little dated. We were able to park right outside. A small selection of decent restaurants within easy walking distance of the hotel. Mariposa town is pleasant and very quiet at night. Breakfast was included, but I have to say it wasn't brilliant. Teenage daughter enjoyed making the waffles though. About an hour from Yosemite itself, so you might consider closer options if you intend to spend a lot of time in the National Park.
We arrived here earlier in the afternoon than the scheduled check-in time and our room was not ready. However the male receptionist and the housekeeper were extremely helpful in arranging for our room to be prepared as quickly as possible, suggested things to do in the town while we were waiting, and were really friendly and helpful. We are really grateful to the receptionist too for an excellent recommendation for dinner. All the other staff with whom we had dealings were equally pleasant and the staff here overall were probably the most helpful and friendly we encountered in our road trip of California. The room was fine apart from a damaged occasional table where the leg was splintered. A previous occupant had clearly damaged it and then turned it so that the damage was hidden and it had not been noticed. When we reported this it was taken away by the housekeeping staff, but it was not replaced. This was no big deal and the main thing is that the room was comfortable, quiet, and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was ok without being anything special. We did feel however that this hotel was a bit over-priced. It is a good hotel and we had an enjoyable 2 night stay in order to visit Yosemite Valley. It made a good base for our visits, and I appreciate that proximity to Yosemite increases prices. However we also stayed at an hotel in Oakhurst which is a similar (slightly longer) journey to Yosemite which in our view was a comparable hotel for a much lower price.
Very good hotel for pets with park near by. Close to Yosemite and easy drive to the National Park. Small town atmosphere and good restaurants. Very nice staff and would stay there again. Also easy to find and walking distance of town.
Hotel was nice and clean. Location was a bit of a drive into Yosemite but worth the scenery on the way was worth the drive. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Town has plenty of restaurants to pick from. Breakfast in hotel was just enough.
Very clean, friendly and comfortable with lots of amenities. The indoor pool and spa was also very clean. The Staff was very friendly and helpful at both check in and check out. I called at the last minute and the employee went out of her way to help me. The restaurant was reasonably priced and the food was excellent. I won't hesitate staying at this hotel again.
We appreciate the BW brand for its consistent cleanliness, efficiency, and that free breakfast. At the Yosemite Way Station, the breakfast is served in a large, bright, cheerful room. There is room to move around the tables, and the staff keeps the options plentiful and the tables clean. I've stayed here twice and was very pleased both times. Great location for a Yosemite trip, too.
Excellent reception staff. Lovely village ( the hideout bar and the savourys restaurant were very good as well ). Good location. Only small problem was that we had to book a twin queen bedded room which made it quite expensive for a 3 star hotel with no bar or restaurant
This chain charged me for a no-show even after I cancelled via phone. The man said they were evacuating for a fire but that he would cancel for me. That is why I called to cancel because I had read about the fire. I canceled within a few days of making the reservation but he did not do his job and now I was billed on my card for $155.00. This is unethical as well as criminal.
The manager has a serious power-issue. He cannot resolve simple issues. Mine was: this room has an uninsulated door to an adjoining room and the folks in that room aren't with me. I can hear everything that they say or do. May I please have a new room. The hotel wasn't at capacity and this simple request was not managed in 2 hours time. I left. 1.25 hr were spent waiting for the "manager" to arrive on site. The staff weren;'t authorized to resolve a simple room switch without his "authority". It was an awful experience.
We were visiting California from the UK, and really wanted to visit Yosemite for a few days. Since we both don't drive, we spent took the Amtrak from Richmond to Merced after spending a few days in San Francisco. From Merced to Mariposa we took the YARTS (which is about $6-$7 each way, and the same bus you take to visit Yosemite). You can also take an Uber from Merced to Mariposa for about $30. Once you're in Mariposa, the YARTS will take you straight into Yosemite Valley. It's a fantastic option if you don't drive, and can't find accommodation within the park. Our stay here was fantastic (for what it is). We had a large, comfortable room and the staff were extremely friendly throughout. Mariposa is a great little city. There's some great restaurants, and everyone we encountered on our trip was extremely friendly and very proud to be from the area.
Enjoyable experience albeit somewhat expensive, although close proximity to Yosemite is no doubt a pricing factor. Adequate parking available and rooms are clean, tidy and well presented. Included breakfast was OK and ample for our needs and the highlight of our stay was dinner at nearby Charles Street Diner. Availed of motel laundry facilities which was an added bonus and our 2 night stay was an enjoyable one.
The front desk was amazing. We called asking for early check in. Not only did we get early check in, the front desk was able to assign 2 rooms next to each other. Restaurants were recommended.Walk through town was detailed. They could not have been nicer or more efficient The rooms themselves were spacious and comfortable. All amenities were provided. Highly recommend this motel if you are staying in the Yosemite area.
Basic hotel owing nothing to other chain hotels of the same category. Room was comfortable and reasonably clean (never noted the dark carpet mentioned in some reviews). Check in and check out were easy. Breakfast ok - it's nearly identical on all hotels offering breakfast... I would appreciate more natural items and variety, but understand it affects cost. In the end the only negative for me was price. I booked through Booking, but it was the same price quoted at the BW page. About $ 180 with taxes for a VERY basic motel. When we walked through the nearby Highway 41 area I came to realize there are A LOT OF motel options all looking the same... could have gotten a better rate.
The hotel is located within walking distance of several restaurants and downtown shops. The rooms were spacious and equipped with a refrigerator and microwave. The free WiFi was amazingly fast. The furnishings had wear and tear but everything was functional. The hotel was full each night during our stay so the breakfast area was packed each morning. The entrance to Yosemite is about one hour away.
Average Best Western in a surprisingly nice town. Stayed here for 3 nights whilst visiting Yosemite. About an hour away from the main entrance of the park, a nice drive unless you get caught behind slow traffic! Room was a little dated, and the front door wasn't the best fit. Although locked, it still had quite a bit of movement. The rates are obviously inflated due to the national park. Having said that we had a third floor room and had a good nights sleep. Enough on site parking and breakfast included. 5 minute walk into town with some really good restaurants. We ate at Charles Diner, 1850 and Savoury's. All recommended. Mariposa is a convenient location for visiting Yosemite and a good pick if you want the evening options you wouldn't get closer to the park.
We arrived to this hotel at 7 PM after a Long 10 Hrs. Drive from Mammoth Lakes because of the closure of Tioga Pass Entrance due to the Snow.We stayed here for six nights. The hotel is about 45 Min.away from Yosemite Park south entrance and within walking distance to many restaurants and stores. It is three stories with No Elevator!! The staff was very friendly and helpful. When we Checked In we were assigned a room on the third floor, and because there is No Elevator and we have a lot of Luggages, the Front Desk Staff thankfully assigned us a room in the First Floor. Our booked Room No.110 was spacious equipped with all needs, nice and clean. There were adequate towels and amenities in the bathroom ,but the Toilet seat was loose, the adjustable shower handle not working properly, also the shower curtain was too short and made the bathroom a bit slippery. The breakfast room was a good size located in a separate building adjacent to the swimming pool, the breakfast is Basic with Few Selections. There are Laundry facilities .
This is a nice hotel with no frills. Our room was a little dated but comfortable and clean. Check-in staff were friendly and helpful. The pool is located near to overhanging trees and didn't look too appealing, I doubt it gets much use though as the hotel is primarily for Yosemite visitors, such as ourselves, who are only there for a bed and breakfast. The hotel is at the end of town but still close to a number of good restaurants and bars.
We stayed here for 6 nights for access to Yosemite National Park. Having been to Yosemite before and staying in the valley, we decided to stay outside of the park this time for a couple of reasons: a) it's expensive to stay in the valley, b) we wanted somewhere that had more options for eating out. I need to point out regarding location that it takes about an hour to get to Yosemite valley - if travelling at the speed limit the whole way from Mariposa. Bear in mind that most of the hikes situated along Tioga Road and Glacier Point Road are at least another hour further than this, so you're looking at about a 4 hour round trip. This hotel is located at the bottom end of Mariposa town right on the main road with a relatively busy junction. We had a ground floor room at the front of the hotel, close to the main reception. The room was clean and comfortable and contained a fridge so we could store our water ready for a hike in the national park. The extractor fan in the bathroom was quite loud and made intermittent clicking noises - not too much of a problem because this came on and off whenever you switched the light on. I slept with ear plugs each night because of the traffic noise and people closing doors next to our room and above our room. The hotel is within easy access to the centre of Mariposa where there are a selection of shops and restaurants. We sometimes took a shortcut into town using the path by the hotel that cuts through a small park/bench area - but we didn't do this everytime as sometimes there were a couple of dodgy looking characters hanging around. Breakfast at the hotel was not great and really basic. It was also quite busy so we ate at places in the town instead. Places get busy fast though. Wifi was a little slow at times and I had to reconnect my devices at one point because it just stopped working for some reason. In terms of location for access to Yosemite, it was just 'ok'. We knew before we came here that we'd have a journey of about an hour or so into the valley each day, but this doesn't allow for slower traffic on the roads or the long traffic lights by the Ferguson Project to get across the bridges because of the old road closures due to rock slides. 5 solid days of driving in and out of the park became tedious. Don't get me wrong, it's better than driving along a boring motorway in England for the same amount of time. These roads are fun, winding and have some amazing views, but after a while, being stuck in a train of cars travelling up and down the mountain everyday was testing. Mariposa itself was okay but not really my sort of place/vibe. There were just enough places for us to eat on a morning and an evening but it's quite a busy, small, old fashioned place and bookings are recommended for the more popular restaurants, otherwise you'll be left standing and waiting. Overall, this hotel was decent for somewhere to have a bed and a shower after a long day of hiking, but I would probably look at other places next time I visit Yosemite and paying extra to stay in the valley would not be off the cards.
We chose this after having a nightmare with our hotel in Yosemite being effected by the fires of 2017. This is about 40 minutes from Yosemite Park entrance, and we found it a reasonable drive. It's in a great area, and Mariposa itself is an interesting little place. Little bit like a film set in some areas. The hotel is a three story building facing the highway into Mariposa. Busy in the day, but a lot quieter at night. Staff were friendly and the rooms and reception were clean and tidy. The breakfasts were a bit of a nightmare, and we went elsewhere for the second morning. There wasnt much organisation, and people were milling around, bumping into each other and getting annoyed. Food on the floor. It was a busy morning, I think they had a coach load in the previous night to stay. Overall a good place to stay out of Yosemite if you want to visit there. It's a $200 a night hotel which compares Ok with Yosemite hotels
We chose the hotel because there aren't many lodging options in Mariposa, but it was nice and I strongly recommend it. The car was parked close to the room, the room was large with refrigerator and safe. The staff was nice and kind. There was a funny British woman at the reception. They allowed us to check in before the check-in time.
I stayed here while in town for work, and spent the whole night losing and regaining WiFi. This was SUPER frustrating, and given the price they charge, one would think the WiFi would be operative at all times. Very frustrating. Would get a 5 were it not for this. Also, the fitness center was very poor; no weights, TV didn't work, and one working machine. Step up your game Best Western! And no more canned responses/replies from Corporate; DO SOMETHING TO FIX THE ISSUES.
We stayed here for two nights. The woman who checked us was so nice and friendly, and she even let us check in early. Our room had two queen beds and was very clean. The free wifi worked well. The hotel is located on a busy road, and the rooms have exterior corridors, so between the traffic noise and a very noisy ac unit, it was difficult to get a good night's sleep. The breakfast area is located in another building by the pool. Breakfast was ok, nothing special, and on one of the mornings, we had to ask for dishes and tea, since they weren't replenished. The fitness room is extremely small and only had four machines. The hotel is within walking distance to shops and restaurants, and is about an hour to Yosemite.
We had a prolonged debate as to where to stay for our trip to Yosemite. Ultimately it came down to what we wanted to do. We wanted to driver around see the sites do a small amount of hiking and chill out. We picked Mariposa as our base. It takes just over 1 hour to drive to Yosemite Valley, a very manageable journey. Depending on what you want to do it could be more advisable to stay in one of the Camp Sites in the Valley but this option suited us perfectly. We choose the Best Western Plus Yosemite Gateway Inn as our accommodation for 3 nights. The hotel was clean, rooms air conditioned and facilities very nice. We enjoyed the pool and Jacuzzi most of all. Each evening after our day's adventure we grabbed some beers and chilled by the pool. We also met some really cool people down there too (some firefighters battling the wild fires). Breakfast was included which was actually really good, although i can mainly speak for the waffles they also had eggs and bacon. The dining facilities were very decent and their was also laundry facilities onsite. The location of the hotel is on the edge of the town, but its a small town so everything is in walking distance. There is a liquor store across the way (you can get some snacks, sodas, painkillers etc there too). The town is quite pretty and there are some nice places to eat, Savoury's in particular was great! We were really happy with our choice in staying here so would highly recommend it to anyone!
The staff really made the stay delightful. Went out of their way to make us comfortable and provide information about the area. Good location, quiet, clean. The staff offered ideas about places to see around the area and how to get there. Had a lovely time.
Pro - had room 218 which was large and brightly lit. Direct TV, good internet service. Reasonable distance to Yosemite NP. Con - bathroom light switch on outside of room that also turned on a noisy fan making it impossible not to wake up companion during the middle of the night. Lukewarm hot tub, and had to get towels from office. No variety in breakfast offerings during our 4 night stay
I found this hotel to be clean and comfortable. There aren't a lot of toiletries in the room --- soap and shampoo, that is it. No lotions. The hair dryer is typically bad. But the room itself was quiet, clean and comfortable, if a bit small. The breakfast is the bar minimum. The eggs were good but there was no fresh fruit other than apples. This is a real deficiency. Overall, though, I recommend this motel.
Given the lack of options in Mariposa and a late reservation, BW was it. Great location as you can walk to town (easily). Staff nice. Room doors do not close well so the sound coming from people chatting as they walk by, cars starting, etc., was really annoying. Literally, the doors do not close snugly (the rooms must be freezing in the winter). They do lock well. Security was not an issue. The breakfast food was poor. Unhealthy at best.
Excellent service, great staff, very clean and vast rooms, great location in the cutest historical city of mariposa, good breakfast, about 1h away from any major Yosemite sight (scenic drive). It has all the facilities you want : pool, laundry, grab n go breakfast, 24h reception... still as good as my first stay 3y ago.
The room has a fridge, microwave, and free wifi. The big plus is the breakfast: they have a dedicated room for it and lots of food options: scrambled eggs, make your own waffle, cereal etc... They have only regular coffee but you can find espresso at the 'Pony Expresso Coffee House' in town.
Perfunctory hotel, clean, nice pool, good size room. Can't imagine staying for any length of time but was great for overnight stay. Continental breakfast was more than that and included eggs and sausages and seemed to be plenty of everything. Go earlier to the pool if you want the sun. Food places just across the road or short walk up the road. Spa close by was very good too. If you have mobility issues make sure you get a room without having to take the stairs as no lift.
Hotel located 45 min drive from Yosemite in a cute town Mariposa. Good WiFi connection have pool where breakfast room is located ...hotel stands on intersection of route 49 and 140...restaurants and shops just few minutes walking ... Staff was friendly , rooms big and clean ...operating TV a bit challenging but all good...room was facing road but was quiet for me to sleep .
We stopped here on our trip from San Fran to Yosemite. We had a great greeting by 2 lovely ladies on reception. They recommended a great place for dinner. (Charles Street Dinner) The rooms are clean and spacious. Good air con! The pool looked nice although we didn't use it. Standard best western breakfast in the morning. All edible and fresh. Would definitely recommend. Mariposa is a lovely little town before the amazing Yosemite!
We stayed here before going to Yosemite. Its about an hour away from the park entrance and more affordable than hotels near the entrance. WE had 2 rooms: one king with a sofa and one with two queens. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were nice with a refrigerator. We also enjoyed a great breakfast in their poolside room. The Waffles are the best!
Great place to stay if you plan to go to Yosemite National Park. What a pleasant room at this motel-like hotel. The highlight of the complimentary breakfast was Belgium waffles. Within walking distance are many restaurants, grocery store and liquor store. It's about an hour to Yosemite National Park, south entrance, Valley parking lot.
Perfect motel if headed for Yosemite National park. It is very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful . Also serves free full hot breakfast ! Laundry facilities if needed. Walking distance to the town restaurants and stores. Next to the town park where live music is played in the evening .
Our room was spotless! Staff very nice, courteous, professional and friendly. We did not eat breakfast there so I cannot comment on that. The laundry facility was very clean and machines reasonably priced. Hotel is well located and near grocery store, restaurants and gas stations. It was an easy drive to Yosemite National Park.
The worst part (of many) was the air conditioner. Whenever it came on, the emitted a smell reminiscent of urine. It made us sick and left early. The only good part is the location - a short easy walk to the town.
This hotel is on the edge of town which makes it very convenient to walk to shops and restaurants. It is three stories, but only the second and third floors need access to an elevator. Unfortunately, there is none. Parking is good. The dining room used for breakfasts is crowded in the morning. The staff needs to reconfigure the tables which would provide more space. Breakfast did not change from day to day. There was no meat alternative to pork sausage. There are step ups from the parking lot to the walkway, but they are not painted to warn guests of the level change. This is an easy fix with a little paint. The curtains are too long. They cover the ac unit. The privacy switch on the door is confusing. This is not a bad hotel. It just needs some attention to detail.
As a reaction the manager writes "We had to ask over 1,000 guests to to Cancel their reservations to accommodate emergency crews which was a significant hardship to these guests and us.". As a guest who had a reservation my reservation was cancelled without any question asked. Also no explanation was given and my emails were ignored. If you don't want to be surprised with a cancellation then skip this hotel.
We stayed as a family ( 2 kids and 2 adults) in their 1 double bedroom in June 2017. The room is regular - nothing special in terms of size, cleanliness, amenities etc. Mariposa is a small little elegant town and the hotel is located right on the highway. The service is satisfactory. The free internet was really fantastic and we could surf, stream and complete all our basis stuff without any hitch. the breakfast is standard and there is nothing to complain. pricing is competitive. Overall it is standard hotel and would stay again.
Room itself was OK - nothing special. Better parking situation than most in area. Walking distance to several restaurants. Nice pool, free breakfast and friendly staff. Retail stores also in walking distance as well as a short trail that starts at the hotel
During a wildfire disaster, the hotel owner tried to price gauge by charging the max for emergency workers such as firefighters, law enforcement etc because there were no other hotels avail nearby. Then they offered NO breakfast, not even continental. During July 21 thru 27 there wasn't even housecleaning services avail yet they charged $200 a night!
great location to visit Yosemite, the service is good they have a small swimming pool and breakfast, rooms are clean and average noting fancy or big just to spend the night comfortable really close to Yosemite valley entrance around 35 minuts
Noise from foot traffic and from the highway was very noticeable, breakfast was below average compared to other best western motels, bathroom smelled of mildew, exhaust fan was very loud, rollaway bed was horrible and room was small.
This Motel is clean, spacious and looks new-ish. A good place to rest and an excellent stop to explore Mariposa. They offer some pretty decent basic breakfast which gets the job done. (Scrambled Eggs, Toast, Cereal) If you intend to visit Yosemite via this motel, it's better to set off early in the morning as it gets pretty crowded at Yosemite and it is not exactly very near to the National Park.
The hotel was very comfortable, clean, and quiet. It was a good choice to be able to visit Yosemite National Park. Since we were staying one night and a few days before the 4th of July, we choose to use the YARTS bus to get into the park. The pick up location is close to the motel and the bus was punctual. It did take longer than driving but we didn't need to worry about parking and traffic. Our family felt that it worked out well. Breakfast was ok, your typical.
Mariposa is only an hour from the center of Yosemite Village. Mariposa offers good restaurants, a grocery store and is a fun place to relax after a day in the park. I was really pleased with the rooms at the Best Western. Our room was large with a refrigerator and a safe. Everything was new and very clean. The wifi worked great! We really enjoyed the free breakfast - fruit juice, coffee, tea, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, toppings and fruit, waffle maker and more. It gave us a good start to the day and a nice place to plan our adventures. The hotel has a nice little pool but we were to busy to use it! The hotel staff and the breakfast staff were very nice and helpful. It is nice to come back to a comfortable room after a full day of activity. We would definitely stay here again.
Very Disappointed! Stayed for three nights, on arrival the bed sheets were not changed from the previous day, on the third day the room was not cleaned at all, nothing! The room ( 218 ) needs repairs, 1. Toilet seat was loose. 2. Shower head leaked. 3. Vanity faucet was loose. 4. Cabinet that held small refrigerator had a terrible odor. I am a Loyalty Club member # 6006636720044736 and I have never had such a bad experience as the stay at the Yosemite Way Station Motel. Best Western is better than this. Your company needs to investigate this property for your own reputation is at stake.
This hotel is a good place to stay when you are visiting the Yosemite area. It is still a significant drive to make it in to the park but if you can't stay in the park this hotel will work. Mariposa is a nice small town with several good eating locations offering a variety of food. It was a good stay.
We stayed here for a few nights during a trip to Yosemite. The staff were perfectly lovely and the rooms more than adequate for everything we want! It was a little expensive but the location and timing could explain some of that. Unfortunately the one spot that let the establishment down were the breakfasts. Pretty cheap selection and everything you use is disposable!!
Nice place to stay before or after yosemite. Just 1 hour drive to east entrance. The town is picturous during the night and there is a very big supermarket with fresh produce. There is a small pool. The gym was very small and had no air conditioning. Breakdast was regular. The rooms were big, nice and clean. The service was not out of the ordinary. All and all an average road side hotel. Nothing "Best" about it....
We stayed one night at the Best Western and were very disappointed with the cleanliness of the room. Bed sheets looked like they were not clean (we had to change the sheets by ourselves after being told by the staff they were too busy to help) - and the refrigerator had items in it that were left behind by previous guests.
Stayed in Mariposa because of its close proximity to Yosemite. It is a reasonable drive, less than an hour. The hotel was clean but dated. Breakfast was ok. I don't know if there is a better place any closer.
While en route to the Yosemite Way Station Motel, I received a call from the front desk advising me that the credit card used to reserve the room had declined. The caller simply wanted to know if we were actually coming to the hotel. When we said yes we were on the way, but delayed, he said great they would hold our room. We arrived around midnight to find that the hotel was full, but they had held our room for us! Our room had 2 queen beds and all the other usual amenities. It overlooked the rear parking lot. The complimentary breakfast was in a separate building adjacent to the swimming pool. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful in providing a map of Mariposa and information about various travel options into Yosemite National Park.
This hotel was such a great spot to stay on our way to Yosemite! Only 40 minutes away from El Portal entrance to Yosemite, Mariposa is an adorable village with cute shops, laundry facilities, and great spots to eat! The hotel was impeccably clean, had air conditioning and large rooms with easy access, free parking. There is laundry onsite, a pool and pool deck, complimentary breakfast with multiple options, and a heated spa pool. Wonderful place to stay close enough to everything but far enough to be peaceful and to not have to deal with Yosemite crowds!
Very good price for location fairly near Yosemite National Park. Room was very clean and quiet. Located in cute western town with various places to eat at. We were not in the hotel long, since we were visiting the gorgeous scenery at Yosemite Park for the vast majority of the day and evening.
Rooms: we stayed in two different style room. The first night we stayed in 220 in a 2 double room which was good. The next two nights we stayed in 219 which was a king. The king room was not well maintained. There was a whole in the bathroom ceiling and the tub was patched up. The beds all together are the most uncomfortable bed I have slept on in a while. The rooms are spacious and have a fridge. There is an ice machine but was unable to use it for our cooler. Staff: was exceptional. Everyone was accommodating. Housekeeping even moved all of our stuff to our new room. Location : it is about 1-1.25 hours to the entrance of the park near Yosemite valley. This is dependent on if there's traffic. Advice, if it's summer arrive before 830 to get a parking spot. Breakfast: is little to be desired. Little is offered. Waffles, eggs, cereal. If you go later a lot of things are already out and not replenished until the next day. It's only available for two hours 630-930. I have stayed at various best westerns. This breakfast is the worst. Overall I would not stay here again. It is a good location in relation to the parks. It's expensive for what you get. Pay the couple extra bucks and get a hotel even closer to the parks.
We had a very good stay. Check in was smooth and the staff was super friendly. The property is conveniently located within walking distance to dinner and shops on the south end of town; about a 35-40 minute drive to the entrance of Yosemite National Park. The lobby was clean and inviting. We got a room on the second floor of the property. Parking was quite easy and we were able to pull around the back to get to our room. The room itself was very clean. The beds were a bit tough, but did the trick. The bathroom was very large; it seemed as if it was recently renovated with modern accents and amenities. It was much, much nicer than your average Best Western. The free Wifi was an added plus. The lighting, TV and fixtures were also very good. The walls of the room are a bit thin and you can hear your neighbors easily. Additionally the A/C unit was very loud, with the high and low settings sounding the exact same. All in all, we had a very good stay at this property. It was great to have a nice spot with easy access to Yosemite. We would stay here again on our next visit to Mariposa/Yosemite
Nice Best Western, met expectations for a Best Western, which is why it is our first choice when booking a overnight motel stay. This Best Western is a bit pricey, probably because of its location near Yosemite Park entrance. They do present a very good breakfast though, and have a nice large breakfast room.
Okay hotel, would use again. Breakfast was good. Staff was friendly. Rooms were basic. Internet was okay. It was convenient to Yosemite but would stay in the park next time as the drive was an hour. Overall hotel was fine for what we needed.
Management does not value maintaining clean facilities and much for breakfast. Too cheap on the selections compared to other BWs. Check in lady complaining about presidents politics instead of taking care of customers checking in.
Rooms are basic and tired. The hairdryer didn't work and they didn't have a spare they could give me! Breakfast was basic and served in what looked like a school canteen. The pool looked very tatty and as a result we didn't use it Other than it's location this motel represents poor value for money but the staff are nice
My son and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and we were very happy with our room. The room was very spacious, comfy and clean and the AC was very cold,(my son was happy with that). The breakfast area with clean and was packed with guests every morning and the eggs and sausage was always being replenished. Beverly made my reservation and I was very excited to meet her because there's not a lot of Beverly's around so I thank you. Also thank you to Hannah at the front desk for giving me new sheets and pillow cases, I really appreciated that. My son and I had a great time while staying in Mariposa and we left with lots of memories. Thank you
We used Mariposa as our access to Yosemite. The Best Western was as expected. It is not a wow place but very functional. Choices in Mariposa are limited and this one was fine for our needs. The pool was in need of some TLC but rooms were clean. Didn't spend much time at the hotel itself but it was acceptable.
We chose this hotel as we were using Yosemite Close up Tours based in Mariposa and they picked up here....very convenient. We were not disappointed in the hotel. It was clean, the room was large, the bathroom was modern with plenty of towels and it served a free breakfast. The staff were all friendly and helpful. No complaints.
This is an average Best Western in a old gold mining town. The reason for the review is two of the staff, Skye and Brandon. They went way out of their way to help us after we locked our keys in the car. It was nearly 10 p.m. and my husband went to see who (if anyone) we could call to come help us. Skye, who was working the front desk, immediately called Brandon, who was off duty but had the right tools to open the car. Brandon came soon after and had the door open in no time. He wouldn't accept anything for his trouble but our thanks for his good deed. Both people deserve a huge "thank you!" for saving us a lot of time and money and allowing us to enjoy the rest of our vacation.
This hotel is an older hotel that has been nicely renovated. The common areas and the rooms were very clean and well maintained. The location is within walking distance of the main town area along the highway. The breakfast room was spacious that allowed a lot of tables to accommodate guests. We stayed at this hotel after a day in Yosemite National Park. (It was about an hour drive from Yosemite Valley.) The rooms were nice but nothing outstanding. We would return to this hotel the next time we are in the area.
The bathroom fan was making a terrible noise so I notified the front desk clerk early in the morning. When I returned in the evening, I found that the problem had not been fixed. Because the light in the bathroom and the fan were on the same switch, I could not turn on the light and had to shower in the dark. It was a very unsafe situation.
Overall very good choice. If you are planning Yosemite park visit be aware that park is at least one hour + away and can be longer due to weekend traffic at park entrance. The rooms were spacious and clean. Only downsides are pool is not heated, spa didn't works and reception desk area smells of cigarette smoke
Front desk employees were very friendly & engaging on our arrival. They were helpful, thoughtful & caring. We were only staying overnight on our way in to Yosemite but would stay here again since it meant we could have a good night's rest before tackling all the sights in the Valley.
Probably one of the best hotel in the Mariposa area. I booked this hotel when we visited Yosemite National Park over the Memorial day weekend and we were pleasantly surprised how nice the bathroom was. We were given a room on the back side and I loved it because it was quiter than the front side. We had a very good night sleep for 2 nights after spending whole day at the park. It was like an hour drive to Yosemite. The closer you are to Yosemite the more expensive the hotels so this is an ideal location for the price. Some good restaurants in the area and the free breakfast was ok. The Spa was not working during our stay. It was cold as well as the small pool so we did not use them. I recommend this hotel when visiting Yosemite National Park.
We booked this hotel because it had a pool and spa we could use after our days at Yosemite N.P. Only to find out despite the information we had been given that it would not open until memorial day. The reception was most put out that we didn't know when that was (we are from the UK). She said that both were "ready" her rude response was "if we feel that we had to have a swim we could use it", but not the spa. (I would not use just one). The tables in the dining area were not cleaned after a guest left, the seats are filthy. There was food left in our fridge! On check-out the receptionist was more concerned with "her" whoes than whether we had had a good stay. We are "Gold" members and this was not mentioned at all. I feel that becuse there is a lack of motels in Mariposa they feel they do not need to look after customers. Unlike the previous night at a BW in Tracy and the night after in Fallon, these two hotels are what a BW is normally like, The Yosemite Way Station does NOT deserve the badge!
Good value for the money. I was looking for hotel to stay in Yosemite and none of them was within my budget. Next option is to stay away from the park and the closest town is Mariposa. I took a chance on Best Western Plus and it turned out to be a good choice. Room was clean and big enough for two queen beds. Breakfast was not great but decent...coffee was good though. Hotel is located within walking distant to the town. p.s. if you decide to stay with Best Western Plus, do signup for their free membership you'll get an additional 10% discount.
Good stay. Staff was very friendly. A little pricey but that is probably due to the location. Room was clean and comfortable. Lots of plugs for all our devices and cpaps. Goid breakfast. Hot tub wasn't working sadly.
Very bad breakfast, i would try another hotel inn the City, iam sure you can get more vallue in the other hotels, pool area was bad, the City have good restaurants, but remmeber to order a table (they are very busy)
Not a business oriented hotel. 3 stories built into a hill with no elevatror so stay in the lower level rooms if you have back or hip or knee problems. They don't have ice on the top level so you have to go up and down with ice.
Good hotel, good breakfast , nice place to sleep after a long day at the national park! It is 1 hour away from the park but so many stores gas stations and food at a walkable distance! Didn't really spend time until he room just to sleep and shower and eat breakfast!
It is hard to imagine your qualifications for a BW Plus. We trusted you because we had a wonderful experience outside the Grand Canyon. After this experience, a loyal customer will be unwilling to stay at any best western. You should evaluate the amenities and quality of this location...please...for the sake of others.
We reserved this motel after spending a week camping out and needing a shower and laundry. We know we had arrived too early but just wanted a restroom and possibly directions to a laundry. The woman at the desk was very friendly and directed us to parking, the rest room and best of all let us use the laundry facilities since we were a registered guest. When we returned to check on room availability she had a room available, even though it was a tad bit early. She not only gave us an excellent recommendation for dinner but a coupon for a free dessert. The rooms are comfortable, clean and roomy. Nice landscaping around the property and a comfortable pool and spa area. The only disappointment is that the spa is cold, not hot. We booked through hotels.com only a coupe of days before and paid what we felt was a premium price. Maybe the price was a bit high due to the butterfly festival which is this weekend. This motel is very close to town, no need to drive to shop or visit restaurants.
The rooms were comfortable, clean and quiet. We really enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was ok. Waffles, eggs and such. Clean dining room. Nice exercise room, laundry room and outdoor pool with tables and lounge chairs. In room coffee and tea.
Had a room with 2 queen beds. Beds were a little stiff, but comfortable. Bath area was fine. TV was hi def and had a very good picture. Only 1 small trash can. What a joke. I put stuff in a plastic grocery bag, but felt like throwing it on the floor. Had "larger" than dorm size fridge which was nice. Lighting was very good in the room. Had enough outlets to charge laptop and phones.
I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights (conference). Very friendly staff upon checkin. The hotel is well located near the famous Yosemite Park, restaurants and shopping street. Excellent value for money and free parking in front of your room. Will definitely come back in September.
A really nice place to stay - great location close to Yosemite! Great local restaurants and nice friendly community! Close to all local events that we wanted to take in. Motel staff went out of their way to please. Good breakfast food and drink also. We would stay at this Mariposa motel again!!
We travel extensively. We stay at Best Western's several times a year. That being said, I will voice the good things first: I will say that our room was great. Clean. TV worked. Towels were thick and fluffy, Internet service was great. We enjoyed breakfast on our last day and that was very very nice. Plenty of seating (even at a busy time), food was hot and fresh and the waffles were awesome. Plenty of choices. I noticed the yogurt machine was out of order. I also asked the maid in our hallway to leave our room alone as we didn't need any service that day, only a new supply of coffee packets. She was very sweet and literally RAN into the open room she was servicing and gave us more coffee! Now for the bad: I am not bigoted. I do not pass judgment on a person because of skin color or ethnicity. Both my husband and I were appalled at the greeting we received upon check in. The woman was on the phone. We waited a few moments. When she hung up, she didn't even look at us. The lobby is the size of a cocktail napkin so I know she could see us standing at the desk in front of her. We waited because she seemed to be deep in thought. Then she woke up when I said How are you today? She went off. I mean, it was like a light switch was hit. She said she already had 2 major arguments with the owner of the hotel today so she wasn't doing well at all. Then she took her cell phone and walked across the lobby, clearly getting ready to call someone. She didn't ask us why we were there or what we wanted. It was pretty obvious, but she said NOTHING to us. Then she said she was arguing about early check in and how the "Blank" owner didn't like that and she can't do that anymore and he should just go back to "Blank". (I simply cannot repeat what she said) That was enough for me. Totally uncalled for and very rude. She didn't know us and yet she was making statements about her boss? Racist comments cannot be tolerated by me. And then she just went into a rant about how she has been there for 5 years and should make her other job full time so she didn't have to work here anymore. My husband pretty much saved the day by saying "So I guess early check in is out of the question?" She finally looked at us. Asked our names, said the rooms are assigned the night before and ours wasn't in the first group of those to be cleaned so we had to wait. (Which was fine with us). She said come back at 3:30. Check in is at 4. We left and I checked our reservation. Sadly, any cancellation had to be done 3 full days in advance or we would have cancelled that very minute. So we went back at 3:30 and yes, the line was out the door because I guess everyone was told to come back at 3:30. Thankfully, another woman was on duty and she checked us in without incident. My only concern about the owner? If this woman we first met at 12:30 was immediately racist and rude about her boss, shouldn't he be able to see it? I mean, if WE can get this response, does he even know what happens behind his back? No, I did not contact the owner or manager. You are probably thinking I should have or could have, but I chose not to. Yelp is enough for me. If he/she wants to react to this employee, that would be fine with me.
Great place to stay when visiting Yosemite. Stayed here one night to break up the drive and not pay big valley $$$. It was perfect, no complaints close enough to walk to everything in Mariposa. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Sounds like they book up fast, and breakfast area was full at 6:30/7AM on a Friday. Everyone else had the same idea. First night stay and leave early for the valley in the morning.
Stayed at Tt his hotel inMariposa on our way to Yosemite. We were lucky to get a rooms as it was a free entrance to park weekend and most rooms were booked Service was great Beds were uncomfortabl Nice to have a frig which was a good size and a microwave Difficultly with the tv, got it to work for a while then it stopped.
This is a clean and well run establishment. Beverly, at the front desk, is delightful and very helpful. Our room was right on the front of the hotel but was quiet and very comfortable. Loved the beds! Breakfast was good with plenty of seating. Would definitely recommend this BW to anyone!
I went to check into the hotel where I've been staying for many years this past weekend and the front desk person came out crying and saying inappropriate racial comments about the owner of the business and about how she thought she was going to lose her job. Her name is Donna. I left because they were not able to accommodate an early check-in and came back later when they said the room was ready and Donna was speaking to two other guests crying again with the same commentary about the owner and her having a fight and saying inappropriate racial comments about him. I ended up checking out of the hotel several hours later because I felt so uncomfortable I didn't want to stay the night. I contacted corporate for best Western to try to resolve the issue saying that I wanted a full refund and an explanation of the situation and I received a halfhearted email from the manager of the hotel and $100 credit which was not much more than half of what I paid. This was not an experience I expected nor I believe proper compensation for what I had to go through. I have been staying at this hotel for many years and will never again.
Employees very helpful and courteous. Rooms were clean. Internet was slow, but free wifi usually is at most hotels/motels. No elevator, so if you have heavy bags, or are older or handicapped, get a 1st floor room. Motel is nicely located in town, plenty of parking.
Want to start by thanking front desk staff . They are amazing and very helpful. Knowledge of Yosemite and other finer details given where valuable . Thank you again. Rooms where clean with queen bed . They provide free breakfast which is ok. Not great about it but it's free :) Enjoyed dinner at Couple of good restaurant around the town which was great after our tiring visit to Yose. Highly recommended.
Good services and great staff members who helped us when we need them at anytime. It is a great location for visiting Yosemite national park, which is about one drive distance to the park. It is right off Hwy 140 and very easy to find it.
The location is right at the southern junction of 140 and 49, an ideal spot if you're looking for a place outside Yosemite in a small town. Our room was on the 2nd floor facing the street. The room is standard Best Western: comfy, well kept, and unpretentious. The 2 double beds were a welcome retreat after a long drive. Very strong wifi. Morning breakfast was good belly-filling fare: sausages, scrambled eggs, various breads, juices, cereals, and the popular waffle making machine. Even with 2 waffle makers, the line was long for them, as it takes about 3 minutes for each waffle to be ready; fun for the kids. Very nice stay with friendly front staff. The only downside was that there was only 1 person at the front desk, both when we checked in and when we checked out. The person was on the phone dealing with a customer and there was no one else to help those in the lobby.
Found a room here last minute for our trip to Yosemite. The staff was extremely helpful, breakfast was good and the room was what we needed. It's about 30 minutes to Yosemite from here and it's a very beautiful drive. It's 2 hours to the big oaks entrance and Hetch Hetchy which has a great walk. The restaraunts in town are in close proximity to the hotel and it's an easy walk. Overall this hotel let our needs and was what we needed.
Stayed here Sunday through Wednesday morning.. my family and I were out all day hiking and would return around 9:30 or 10pm to sleep.. Room was clean, and our beds were comfortable. The staff was very nice and friendly, when we checked out the staff member had fun conversation with my young son. We were amused by it. Tried the free breakfast the first day, limited options but there was only one staffer working, it was a full house, and she did a great job keeping everything full. If we go back, this will be the place to stay, reasonable prices, friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms. What else would you ask for.
Stayed here for 2 nights during a road trip. Nice hotel with friendly staff and clean fresh looking rooms. Unfortunately these rooms have beds which are very hard making it difficult to get a decent nights sleep. Both my wife and myself woke up with aching backs.
Rooms are run down. Room was dirty. Door was broken. Lots of working men staying in the rooms. Lots of partying going on. Lots of noise. Overall poor experience. Pool area run down. I always stay at best westerns but never again will I go back to this hotel.
I love the friendly staff who gave a warm welcome, but internet was slow and not that great, cell phone service is terrible and unstable....not good for conducting business. Also wasn't thrilled about the room not having a mini fridge to keep things cold or a microwave. Other than that, it was a nice and clean place to rest my head.
Only problem was a hard mattress. The location was near Yosemite. Not much to do in Mariposa but we just stayed there to be near the park. We had planned to stay two nights but abandoned the second night and headed home because the bed was hard and we didn't sleep well. Nice people, clean room and nice Hotel.
Not only the regular rooms but especially the handicapped equipped rooms were very nice. Value for the money. Staff very helpful with every need. Breakfast good and plentiful, check in and check out easy. Good location for jump off to Yosemite National Park.
Friendly staff, clean and comfortable. Located close to yosemite in a small town with grocery stores and places to eat. Nice breakfast. The hotel has internet access. Kids loved it and we plan on staying here again.
This place was perfect for us as we had left it too late to book a place inside the Park. We arrived around 2pm after driving from Oakland airport and the checkin was efficient and friendly offering plenty of advice for all our questions. Our room was ready and it took around 40 minutes to get inside the park -no queues too which was a bonus in August! Mariposa offered adequate dining options after returning from an afternoon inside the park. Our room was adequate and comfortable and the complementary breakfast was fantastic-plenty of choice and constantly replenished! I only wish we had stayed for longer!
We had only one day to visit Yosemite and it was difficult to decided where best to stay. In the end, we decided on the Yosemite way Station and it proved a happy choice. We arrived after a drive from San Francisco and got up early the next morning to head to Yosemite ( after a great sleep and an enjoyable breakfast.) The drive took under an hour and we had a great day trekking in Yosemite before returning in the evening. There are a number of restaurants to choose from in Mariposa within close proximity to the hotel. Rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It was a wonderful visit made all the better by a good choice of hotel.
The staff was so friendly and tried to help with any request we had. Breakfast was great and a true benefit of this super clean hotel. I especially love that they went out of their way to accommodate an early check in for us
I could not recommend anyone to stay here Accommodation terrible should not have a best western label it does not deserve it No food available on site, non existent wi fi and Mariposa town had no restaurants open at 8pm except a very poor pizzeria Mariposa is a pretty town to drive through Keep going is our advice This location is totally unsuitable for visiting Yosemite as its a 1 hr drive away It's not commutable if your visiting Yosemite Park Staff did their best but facilities, services and location are so poor
Loved to remodel. Very clean and very helpful staff. Great area close to Yosemite. Good area and close to restaurants and stores. Able to walk to shopping, bars and restaurants. Clean and everything was new.
Whilst reading some reviews I wonder if I exist in some alternative reality or lucky. For the price paid per room, we recieved a spacious clean room which was located out the back off the main road. Reception staff were pleasant and welcoming upon our arrival at night.Yes the decor is classical Best Western but the room and bathroom were clean and fully stocked. Beds comfortable and we all had a good nights sleep. Breakfast was very reasonable and open early enough to start our trip to Yosemite before the tour buses started up.The sole staff member was smiling and friendly and answered my questions fully about gluten free options. Bonus was staying in Mariposa, beautiful town which we regret we did not have the time to fully appreciate . Beware though of the local police who sat by the hotel stopping people who crossed the double line whilst travelling from the west to enter the hotel.
Pricy, and old hotel, gouging people for holiday prices. Motel 6 better! Came on Veterans Day. We are here right now. Went out to the pool and the lights were off. When asked front desk if hot tub & pool worked they said yes. We went out there and the hot tub was cold and no lights were on in the tub nor the pool. The water was cold and the pool and tubs were green on bottom and leaves floating around. It was obvious it was not used in a long time. Then we went into our room and the hand towels had orange stuff on them and in the sink, gross! Have not finished our evening but I'm not looking forward to breakfast here nor sleeping in the bed. DISGUSTING. When called front desk and told them they asked if we wanted more towels. I asked them to clean the sink and they told us that "sorry, housekeeping went home for the day". Then the lady came to our room and we showed here the mess She just shrugged, acted like we were being a bother and left after giving us towels.
Hotel looks like a basic motel but it's much better than that. Rooms open onto a walkway overlooking the road or the car park but the rooms themselves were clean, comfortable, spacious and quaint. The breakfast was good and the breakfast room overlooks a small pool. But the main advantage of this hotel is it's location. It's in the lovely small town of Mariposa, convenient for Yosemite yet a great destination in itself. Lots of choice for places to eat with shops and bars, some with live music, all within a minutes walk. We arrived the same day as a vintage custom car convention! Chaotic but good fun.
Reception clerk, she was so rude when i asked about a warm blanket. I've been this is hotel in November, the weather is kind of chilly. This is hotel doesn't have any warm blankets, that is ridicules! I'm literally was cold! I ask reception clerk if the hotel has blankets, she gave me a thin covering! That is suck. Never and ever come back again
My husband and I chose this hotel as it was about as close as you can stay to the park without actually staying IN the park. That being said however, we were still well over an hour away. (The drive can be a bit harrowing in-climate weather) The hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff was friendly.
Booked this place when all lodging in Yosemite was full. It was very basic -- clean enough but no blow dryer or shower cap or lotion. Refrigerator too cold and froze our cheese. King bed made it difficult to get to the bathroom so the two of us had traffic issues in the room. Breakfasts standard motel stuff. Stairs to rooms are outdoors and no elevator in evidence. Noise from parking lot constantly. 43 long winding miles to Yosemite took an hour each way every day of our stay. This was sure not worth the $160/night we paid for it. There are places closer to Yosemite that are outside the park.
Spacious room all facilities there, in good location for Main Street restaurants, diners and bars. 45 minute drive to Yosemite. Good breakfast and well run by the bright and breezy lady who welcomed each and every guest. Wifi was intermittent whilst we were there but it was a local problem not BW's. All round decent offer.
We stayed here for two nights while vacationing in Yosemite. It was a nice place to stay, nothing too special, but we did not have any problems. The front desk assistant was nice enough to let us check in early so that we could get our day started in the park. The biggest pro had to be the breakfast. It had sausage, eggs, waffles, yogurt, cereal, pastries, toast, as well as coffee and juice. It was great. The con would be the lack of WiFi. I understand it's in Mariposa so there's not too great of a signal to begin with (and who REALLY needs it when you're in such a beautiful area), but I wouldn't expect too much from the WiFi signal if you were planning on making a trip. Overall it was a good stay. I would stay there again if I had the option.
We stayed here on a stopover leaving Yosemite. This is a standard motel that is clean with no frills. The room was adequate, the bathroom was small but also very clean. Breakfast was usual fare, with canned fruit and scrambled eggs. The staff at the motel were all very friendly. The really great thing about this motel is its location-it is only about a 45 minute drive to the South entrance of Yosemite. When entering Yosemite from this entrance, you drive through the tunnel to find the amazing views of Yosemite on the other side. The town of Mariposa is adorable, and from this motel you can easily walk around town. We had such a nice time there we wished we could have stayed longer. There are several small stores, restaurants and bars. We even did a wine tasting while we were there-we found the people to be super friendly and helpful. If you are planning a trip to Yosemite, this is a great place to stay and also enjoy this small Western town.
This is a very nice hotel. The staff is very kind and the rooms are comfortable and have very good space. The breakfast was very complete, with a variety of options for it. I just would suggest that the hotel can upgrade the Internet connection, it was hard to connect at some times, I thing due saturation on he connectivity. The rest was ok and I will recommend this hotel for staying there!!
Motel rooms were decent, clean, with 2 double beds and a bathroom. We stayed only for 1 night. Rooms were quiet. Enough parking available. Breakfast was good, but it was crowded. Pool available, yet we arrived too late to use it. Service was friendly.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and looked fairly new. Breakfast was very good even though the first day we stayed there they didn't open up right away. Cute little town with nice old time shopping places
While traveling for business, we booked a room at this property. First, they did not want to offer a State rate, and after 4 phone calls they finally agreed to offer a State rate. Then, the Wifi was awful. Normally, if you're on a vacation, wifi at a hotel isn't a necessity. I doubt the folks visiting Yosemite care about wifi. But I was on business and the Wifi was atrocious. So much so that I will be looking at another facility to stay at the next time I need to be in Mariposa. The rest of the hotel was good.
Stayed at this motel for 1 night when I was visiting Yosemite - The motel is about an hour drive from Yosemite Valley. Overall, decent hotel with clean and big room (Got the King Room). It was also near to a couple of food places which are within walking distances. This is a plus point as I was too tired to drive after spending the whole day at Yosemite. The breakfast provided in the morning is also pretty decent and good enough to kick start your day.
Clean, nice location in town and to get to Yosemite, friendly. They have no pet rooms, just ask. If you are traveling with your pet, they are pet friendly... Just tell them your furry friend will be with you. Ask for a room on the back of the motel for a quieter morning. Pathway along creek makes for an easy walk to the main street in town to shops and restaurants.
My wife and I stayed here for one night while visiting Yosemite NP. The room was clean and neat. We didn't find the place to be very noisy. Its about an hour drive from the park. Breakfast was included and was good. The only negative was the WIFI. It was really slow. At times it seemed to not be working properly. Overall it was a pleasant stay. I would stay here again when I visit Yosemite again.
Stayed here for 3 nights in June this year. The staff were friendly, the room was clean and the breakfast options were surprisingly varied. I thought the hotel was good value and offered a great base from which to see the surrounding area. The staff went out of their way to tell us what there was to see and do both in town and the spots in Yosemite itself to visit. Recommended.
We stayed here for 3 nights and found everything very good. The rooms are clean with a refrigerator and microwave. The breakfast is good too. The wifi is extremely slow...so slow that it wasn't worth using. It is within walking distance of the main part of the town where there are a few good restaurants as well as a diner and a pizza/pasta casual restaurant which is reasonable. It is a good one hour drive to Yosemite along a very narrow, curvy road.
This hotel is located about 35 miles from the entrance to Yosemite (the reason we chose it), in a nice little town. Our king room was large and comfortable, with a sofa, coffee table, microwave and fridge. Breakfast is included, with scrambled eggs, sausages, bread, muffins, fruit, waffles, juice, coffee etc., quite adequate, and made more enjoyable by Lisa who looks after you. She's full of bounce and we had a real laugh with her, happy to chat, whilst keeping an eagle eye to make sure that everyone is looked after, she's a star!! On the downside, the claimed fast wi-fi is in fact dreadfully slow, there is only one bin in the room, and our room 107 had a foot square roughly part repaired patch above the shower, no doubt the result of a leak from above, with brown stains, peeling board tapes and rough filler. It is also quite a noisy hotel, with Highway 140 out front, and plenty of noise from adjacent rooms, banging doors, toilets flushing, aircon units etc., but we still got two good night's sleep.
Stayed here for 4 nights Mariposa town a short walk great location for visiting Yosemite 45 mins drive and a beautiful drive. Mariposa is a lovely place to stay. The Way Station good value for money, very clean nice helpful staff. Our fridge did not work on arrival but Bob & Skye sorted it very quickly the same with the hairdryer replaced straight away.We did not use the breakfast looked in one day to grab some toast Lisa was helpful and nice and the breakfast looked very good. The pool area looked inviting but we never had time to use it wanting to spend our time in Yosemite.Well worth doing a day trip but was expensive, but well worth it they pick you up at 7.30am.Thank you to all at the Way Station we had a great time.
Check-in/check-out was quick and accurate. Staff was friendly. Nice, large, clean rooms. Plenty of electrical outlets. The guest laundry had two washers/two dryers, but one dryer was out of service. The internet service barely functional (a speed test showed 0.14Mpbs). The hotel desk person said there was a power outage last week and internet had been a problem since then. Two of us were staying for three nights.
This is a good Best Western. Comfortable rooms though not much of a view. Breakfast was good. Eggs, sausage, cereal, yogurt, juices, etc. One of the ladies that took care of the Breakfast was particularly friendly & helpful. Lisa was all smiles & laughs. Not simply making sure everything was filled, but that people had what they needed & could find everything. She was a gem! Being close to Yosemite, this is a good choice as a base for travel to the valley. It's a bit of a drive at about 45 mins to 1 hour, but still a good prospect.
This motel is on the highway - easy to get to - nice car ramp to the second floor saves trouble moving in and out of rooms. Breakfast was nicely stocked with fruit, english muffins etc. Rooms were comfortable. Nearby restaurants - Mexican and others. Supermarket across the highway for basic supplies. Good town to spend a night in on the way from Yosemite to Sequoia and vice versa.
Nice and quite locations. Convenience near stores and restaurant, Small town. Beautiful landscaping. Breathtaking mountains. This is the place to go if you are looking for peace of mine. The people are very friendly. Everyone is helpful and the staff at Best Western went out of their way to make sure that we had a good time. The rooms are spacious and we thought about spending a second night just because it was so relaxing.
We showed up and they had no room for us but our reservation was there so they sent us 30 mins away. We usually don't stay here but our other option in Mariposa was booked, the employee was very rude about the situation
This motel was a good value for the price. Looked like brand new due to ongoing remodeling/upkeep. Nice breakfast. Nice outdoor pool and hot tub. Internet wasn't working - the only issue. Staff helped us get two rooms together.
My husband and I were on our honeymoon to visit Yosemite. We stayed 3 nights at this hotel. We were on the 2nd floor, our room was great! Super clean, smelled fresh, no noise & the staff was super friendly. Breakfast was free and I distinctly remember Lisa who prepared and stocked the breakfast bar. She was so nice, cheerful and loved connecting with all the different guests. She took pride in her job and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. I highly recommend this hotel!
Breakfast was rather extensive given that it's a motel. Motel is children friendly. The town in which it's in has good food too so that's a bonus. It takes about an hour to drive up to Yosemite from here.
First impression was not very favourable. Had to carry 2 heavy suitcases up a flight of stairs to upper floor room. On opening door, room appeared dark and a bit tired. Bathroom was modern with separate vanity unit which proved an asset as my wife can take a while glamming up. TV was not working. I mentioned this to the maid and within minutes it was sorted. After our initial mis-givings we settled in well. The hotel is located at the edge of town with a short walk to most restaurants. It has a lovely wee pool and spa. We had a pleasnt day there in between visits to Yosemite which is about an hour away. Breakfast was included and once again first impressions were not that favourable as we compared it to the breakfast at our previoust hotel in Monterey which we had to pay for. We found it more pleasant the second day when we met the hotel's biggest asset Lisa. She manages the breakfast room and nothing is too much trouble. She was always helping guests and managed to keep smiling despite the room opening at 6.30. What a star. We could have done with Lisa at our next hotel in San Francisco as the breakfast staff were appalling. Maybe we were spoiled. Of our 3 hotels on this trip, this was by far the most comfortable and we slept well. The road at the front does however start about 5.30 in the morning and you do encounter some traffic noise. Finally, I must recommend a New York steak at Savourys just up the road. the best meal of our trip.
Great service, great people, good breakfast, if we ever come back to visit I will stay here again. Thank you all for a great visit. Even if it was for work... You must get breakfast at the town diner they have a great breakfast special $6.99 Also the pizza factory makes great pizza and the service is the best..
Location: Proximity to Yosemite 45 minutes. But a good location due to food and gas options. Other hotels might be closer but limited options. Check in/out: Quick and friendly. Room: Size was fine and beds comfortable. Very clean and staff was helpful when we had questions. Breakfast: Typical BW fair. Located in separate building but not an issue. Large crowds but staff did a Great job keeping area clean and things stocked. Amy provided friendly service and local knowledge!! Stayed 4 nights and found the area quiet. Outside pool appeared clean and inviting. I would highly recommend this motel.
Stayed there due to its proximity to Yosemite NP. Room was convenient and clean. Check In / Out friendly and fast. There is no elevator - so be prepared if your room is on third floor... Lots of parking spots around the building.
Not too bad around that area. Comfortable bed. Friendly staff. May be in a peak season. The maid was rush to clean the room. No toilet paper and left a wash cloth outside the hall way (on the second level). Pool is ok but outside. My kid enjoyed it in the summer. Food is good and has a lot of selection.
3 nights spent at this motel helped us to have a great start to our road trip to Yosemite. What a beautiful place to visit! Hotel staff very friendly at front desk and in the breakfast room. Plenty of choice at breakfast for everyone. Location wise it was a bit of a drive to the valley but it was a beautiful route so not a problem. Beds comfortable and plenty of room for the 4 of us and our luggage. Good location for food restaurants.
Stayed here for 4 nights, great location in a must see town. Loved this place and would certainly recommend this for a short stay. Plentiful breakfast with great staff . Good sized swimming pool and whirl pool.
They do things right at this motel. The front desk staff is helpful and friendly. Room was a decent size, quiet, with comfy beds. Nice bathroom with high-quality, fluffy towels. The coffee in the room and the breakfast room were both good. Breakfast is in a separate, nearby building. Good variety, including a small yogurt bar. What I really appreciated was the spaciousness of the dining area. So unlike most breakfast buffets that are way too overcrowded. We stayed here and drove back and forth to Yosemite. Beautiful drive to the park. Also, Mariposa is a cute little town with several good dining options and fun stores.
Enjoy the flavor of America; idea to stay before tackling The sheer Epic Grandeur of Yosemite. Nice breakfast with a self-made waffle. American coffee, smooth and soft but typical. Enjoyed it. The hotel had a pool, quiet and calmed. Suited for a relaxing evening pre Yosemite
Good caring staff, good rooms and fantastic breakfast with service! Front desk is very friendly & provides fantastic dinner recommendations along with music in the park info for weekends. Breakfast service is best to date in Best Western. Lisa ensures everyone has what they need, keeps the place spotless and ensures everything is filled all the time.
The room was very basic and the bathroom was tiny, please be aware that this is a motel and not a hotel which we were not aware when booking with Virgin Holidays. The room contains a very loud and noisy air conditioning unit which made it very hard to sleep. There was also no lift so we had to take our luggage up two flights of stairs with no help. The receptionist named Donna Kusch explained that our rooms were not ready but she was hungry and decided to go and eat her lunch instead of helping us! Although she did give us free nasal strips which were meant to help us sleep, and she showed us towards the visitors centre. Thanks Donna!
Small, but clean room. This room actually had 2 queen beds, unlike the BW the night before that booked us a room as 2 queens and was actually 2 doubles. Bathroom was so small that it was claustrophobic. Rooms were quite loud and we were awake before 6 am as room doors, car doors and car alarms were actively going off. Breakfast was poor in quality compared to most hotel complimentary breakfasts. The breakfast room was dirty and too small for the number of guests that were present for breakfast.
Stayed here for 2 days when visited Yosemite. It is very nice place, clean, comfortable beds, nice pool, full breakfast. It is a little far from Yosemite about 40-50 min, and overpriced. Stayed here on weekend. Park is overcrowded, and if you have a choice stay inside the park.
I was nervous about staying here. It had been many years since we had stayed in a motel. There are very few choices. However, it exceeded our expectations. Our room was clean. Our bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean. The room met our family of 4 needs just fine. We were on the third floor (really second) in the back. Our room was an end unit. It was quiet. The hotel was full but felt quiet. The air worked great. We were able to walk to many restaurants and shops. The free breakfast area was clean. The staff was friendly. I would stay here again. However, no elevator. So if you can't go up stairs you need to ask for a first floor.
excellent hotel, excellent service with very good location, we will definitely consider staying there on our next trip to Yosemite. very clean room , very nice breakfast.good size pool with Jacuzzi with access to small Gym.
Perfect location for a visit to Yosemite park. The staff was friendly and the room was nice and clean. The town center is just a short walk away with plenty of restaurants and shops. We were lucky to walk past a small concert in the little park next to the hotel and could enjoy some music and a chat with the locals.
I'm no expert when it comes to amenities that are provided by a 'Motel' vs a 'Hotel', but apparently it's whether or not towels can be brought to your room by hotel staff. I have a 1 year old daughter and needed a few more bath towels after getting out of the shower, so I called Claire at the front desk. She told me that I needed to go find a custodial staff member for the request because she had no way of getting in touch with them(i guess walkie talkies or even phones to the housekeeping staff's room don't fall under a 'Motel's' amenities). We called back a second time to find out what the deal was, and when we expressed our disappointment in being denied the simple request, we were eventually told that this was a 'Motel' and not a 'Hotel' and were asked sarcastically if I saw a Concierge onsite. I stated that I would be contacting Best Western to ask about why guests could not be delivered basic items, and was told "you go ahead and do that." Very unprofessional. Upon our original arrival I also witnessed how rude and short she was with other guests. I hope this review helps improve upon her level of customer service so that other travelers don't have to put up with this. The Breakfast staff was completely the opposite. Very attentive to making sure food items were refilled, and very personable to all the guests.
We enjoyed our stay here, although the hotel in my opinion is overpriced. The rooms are a decent size, clean and include a small refrigerator and microwave. The rooms have outside entrances. The outdoor pool is small but it was too chilly for us to use. The free breakfast is in a separate building which is nice because it's in a very spacious room. The front desk staff were friendly but a little absent-minded and not very efficient. (We received a "welcome" bag when we checked out.)
Hotel 6 of 15 this trip. Booked a 2 night stay to visit Yosemite and found it very comfy indeed. The place was spotless and well equipped. The staff were friendly and helpful whenever we needed anything. They have a guest laundry which was very handy indeed right next to the pool. The pool was welcoming after our days out in temps above 100 degrees but there is a problem with ants. Breakfast was more than adequate and the mother and daughter team on duty when we were there did a great job.
What a beautiful town. Really friendly people. The room was spotless and comfy. Buffet breakfast was fantastic, loads to eat. Pool was clean and tidy. Our room on top floor facing the road, which means you see a great sunrise and sunset. The traffic can be heard, but it's bearable. Rooms at the back if you want no view. Reception booked our next hotel for our next leg, really helpful. Strongly suggest you use the YART coach to go to Yosemite. $12 Adult return is a no brainier, coach leaves from the high street. Takes as long as you would drive, but by passes all the queues in the park. And those are long queues. Pizza place is great value, looks busy because it's the best value in town.
We just returned from a 2 nights stay specifically to visit Yosemite. Greeted at the front desk by the manager who was personally training a new staffer. Superior service during the checking process, we had reserved 2 beds and were given a room on the second floor centrally located, with a view to the front of the property. The second floor is great because the parking lot on the back of the property is at the same level, making it super easy to load and unload luggage. we found the free WIFI working very fast and the free breakfast was of superior quality, offering ready made eggs with sausage, make your own very large waffles with all the trimmings, a selection of fresh pastries, breads, muffins, with several toppings, several cereals, coffees, teas, hot water, juices, real plates, plastic utensils, napkins readily available. Two ladies were helping guests with all requests and keeping all items refilled efficiently, keeping the tables clean as guest departed, and greeting new ones as they arrived. Kudos to this process and the service provided. The pool area is a little small, but we found the Jacuzzi very comfortable. the weather was in low 100's on the 2 days we were there. The room was a little on the small side for 2 beds as we were 3 seniors. Very small closet, obviously made for a very short stay. Hair dryer, iron board and iron provided, as well as microwave and good size fridge. Al were in working order. The TV was a little problematic, possibly do to the reception of Direct TV satellite in the zone. The outside wall cooler/heater a little noisy if on total auto mode. During the night one could hear the other units next door going on/off. The beds were on a flat board instead of box springs, making it a little too hard for my taste. Office style chair with desk, a seat with ottoman completed the setting. Overall a very good stay with easy walking distance to center town and shopping areas.
high cost for averaghe hotel ok breakfast clean enough rooms but beds were hard as a rock no help from front desk. should have bought and air mattress.good that it's pet friendly and pool and hot tub area is nice. won't stay there again unless it's the last choice because of the bed.
Pros: bed was comfortable. Room was clean with plenty of towels provided. Overhead lights were nice and bright. Front desk staff was friendly with good knowledge of the park and eating places. Cons: No hair dryer provided in room. Asked for one at front desk, but none were available. Booked my room over a month in advance and was given an AARP rate of $188.00 I was in the lobby when a call came in asking for an available room, and the caller was given a non-AARP rate of $169.00 ( guess my early reservation meant nothing ) Rooms are expensive due to proximity to Yosemite NP. No elevator to upstairs rooms. If you stay downstairs you can park right outside your door, but have to endure rowdy kids running all night above you. Air conditioner was loud and difficult to control. TV was hard to understand and operate. It was Direct TV, but had mostly PPV channels, infomercial channels, and Spanish speaking channels. Also, the fridge was turned completely off when I arrived. I did not realize this until the next morning when I tried to drink my spoiled chocolate milk. Who turns the fridge completely off. At least leave it on low. In summary, way too expensive for all the inconveniences.
Mariposa is the closest town to one of the entrances to Yosemite. So if you are not staying in the park you will probably enjoy staying in Mariposa. The town is cute and you can walk around to the different shops and restaurants. This Best Western was a good choice to stay at. You can tell that the hotel is older but it did the job after being tired from all day in Yosemite.
within 45 mins to Yosemite NP. The rooms were large the breakfast was great variety and very good. The little town of Mariposa was quaint, like an old west town. There is a pool also. The price seemed high but everything was full closer to the park.
I would like to give ????????to Lisa & Ashley. They provided great customer service in the breakfast room.. You don't see employees greeting everyone or asking do anyone need anything it was refreshing to see that! Thank You. It's a great place to stay The drive from Yosemite is about 45mins to 1 hr to main gate...
I travel with my dog. The Hotel had a good and clean dog room. Easy excess to a walking path with my dog.It runs the length of the downtown Main Street Mariposa could use more dog friendly restaurants.
Nothing too spectacular, but a comfortable stay. The room was quiet even on the street side. The pool was clean and the hot tub was wonderfully warm. Breakfast was good. Typical hot food was better than your regular continental breakfast. The staff in the breakfast area was super nice. It's a pretty easy drive to Yosemite, but it is 45 to 60 minutes from the hotel to the park gate. We would certainly stay there again.
The historic downtown shops and restaurants are a short walk away. Our room, on the second floor at the rear, was quiet. Bed was comfortable and we got a good night's sleep. Desk had outlets for charging. The room and bathroom were clean. Staff at front desk were exceptionally friendly. Breakfast room was large and had a decent assortment of hot and cold food. Scrambled eggs were real. Room had a fridge and microwave. We would stay again.
Nice pool and hot tub, great breakfast. Rooms were updated, but you could still see a lot of the old, for instance the doors are old, with gaps, dents, the A/C looks like the original, etc. The bathroom door looked like they just painted it white. The bathrooms are very nice with newer tile throughout. The exterior could use some updating, or at least new paint. The TV system was kind of odd. Worked, but not very many channels and hard to figure out. There were some troublemaker young adults one night that hooted and hollered for quite a while in the middle of the night. No respect for others. And no one in the lobby came out to do anything about it. If I wasn't so tired, I may have called the lobby, but didn't feel like getting out of bed.
The hotel is age worn but very adequate. Our door didn't seal tight and we had to wedge a suitcase on the door to keep the light out. All this being said, the staff here is great. Claire, at the front desk, is quite nice and made a recommendation for supper that was stellar. Lisa and her daughter run the breakfast area and they are wonderful and efficient.
The hotel is located at the start of the quaint town and alongside a park. Enjoyed going through the shops and strolling the park. There is a beautiful memorial for 9/11 in the park. Although we did not travel to Yosemite this trip, it is conveniently located for those that wish to make the trip
If you can't or don't want to stay in Yosemite, Mariposa is convenient and this hotel is pretty good. We enjoyed our stay in a third floor room on the back, away from noise. Walking distance from an interesting local bar for a nightcap. According to the local paper, town leaders are considering ways to attract and entertain Yosemite visitors. Rooms and hotel are fine - about average, fridge included - and the buffet breakfast is a cut above.
Stayed here for three nights while visiting Yosemite National Park. The front desk staff was very helpful in securing information regarding the park and other local items of interest such as restaurants. The rooms had been recently redecorated and were very comfortable. The food in the breakfast area although modest in terms of selection was good and plentiful. The only downside to this location is that it requires a 45 minute drive through beautiful mountainous areas to the nearest gate to enter Yosemite National Park. Coming from this direction you will encounter a brief delay in entering the park due to a road that is only open one lane at a time due to a rockslide some eight years ago. We were told that steps are underway to begin making the necessary road improvements to eliminate this bottleneck but as to a timeline for completion, no date has been set. The town of Mariposa is charming and there are a few reasonably good choices for eating, although the sidewalks tend to roll up early in the evening.
We had a room on the back side on the lower level &it was quiet. The room was fairly large with 2 queen beds, a desk, desk chair, a lounge chair, refrigerator, microwave, 1 luggage rack & nice carpeting. Unfortunately, it did not have a Gideon Bible which I look forward to reading. Also there were way too many pay TV stations. The full breakfast was very good.
The hotel decor was nice and staff were excellent. However, the amenities were low qualtiy. There was a drawer that wouldn't stay closed and it was right in the middle of your main walk area in the room. The toilet handle had to be held down when you flushed it. Very time consuming!
We arrive early and no room is ready, but reception helps us choose the best that's still available…In the back and near the pool and breakfast area. And they give us advice on local restaurants and a discount coupon. When we get to the room, it's nice and large, if blandly decorated. Plenty of parking is available. Breakfast is pretty good and it's included in the price of the room.
We stayed here during a recent out west trip after a day trip to Yosemite. This hotel is about an hour or so from Yosemite. The room was well appointed, and had been recently remodeled/ redecorated. The room was an average size, but the bathroom was very small. This hotel was completely booked on the night that we stayed and quite loud. We had a first floor room which was convenient for loading/unloading, but very loud. We could hear the toilets flush and the microwave ding from upstairs and next to us, so we didn't get much rest. The rooms have outside doors, so you also hear it each time a neighbor enters/exits. There are no elevators, but if I had it to do over again, I would definitely ask for a top floor room to eliminate some of the noise. The breakfast area was very crowded as well, with not much to offer by 8. It appeared to be understaffed. I think if they had more people working that morning it would have been better. The bed was comfortable though, and the room was clean.
We chose to stay 3 nights at Best Western in Mariposa because it was affordable, whereas hotels closer to Yosemite NP are far more expensive. This meant we had a 30-40 mile commute back & forth to the NP but it was pretty scenery, so we didn't mind too much, except the first night when we were already pretty tired from traveling to YNP from Grass Valley & our 1st afternoon of excited & gawking drive-bys through Yosemite's main drag. The Best Western staff were very friendly & helpful; however, we couldn't connect to tv or wifi those nights, due to technical difficulties that I didn't understand. The free breakfast was fairly typical. The hotel was pretty booked up & with lots of international travelers, who like us probably were trying to stretch their USDs.
Room very comfortable and only let down was the awful breakfast. Even though there is a junction outside the Motel you couldn't hear it at all. A good sized room that was clean and tidy. Cannot fault the room.
The hotel is fine - a clean large bedroom. The washing area with the basin is open to the bedroom, with the toilet and shower closed off. Many reviewers seem to think the breakfast was good, we thought it rather poor. Very little choice - in the cooked section only rather tasteless mass produced scrambled egg with sausage, no option for fried egg or omelette, no bacon. I am not sure what the plus in the title means. We felt at about $220 a night for a double room it was very expensive even given that it caters for Yosemite visitors. On the plus side, Mariposa is an attractive former gold mining town with a quaint museum, the oldest operating court house in California and some good restaurants. It is a good hour drive to the entrance to Yosemite park but it is a pleasant drive partly along the Merced river.
Excellent hotel and value for money. Rooms were clean and tidy. There was a microwave in our room which came in very handy. Breakfast was excellent and the hotel is in such a good location for travelling to Yosemite.
Bed had no box springs matters was on a wood box. The sheets were old and felt dirty. The blanket had a hole in it. The rug was just really dirty and had big stains on it. This place cost me almost $500.00 for two nights. Please do not stay in this place you will be very disappointed.
Nice adequate hotel for staying near Yosemite. Rooms have mini fridge and mini-coffee maker which was a plus and must have for us. Very nice breakfast included, nice breakfast room. About an hour plus drive to Yosemite Village on twisty, twisty CA-140. Pricey, but given the proximity to the park and lack of other options drives the price.
Very pleasurable stay! Stayed just as an easy access to Yosemite and indeed it was. It's very expensive staying within Yosemite in the lodges and here for a lesser price you get a comfortable hotel experience despite them calling it a motel.
The room was clean, nicely decorated, and had comfortable beds and pillows. It was quiet with the exception of the refrigerator which was slightly audible, but not bad (I couldn't hear it, but my wife noticed it). The room might be considered a bit overpriced, but for the Yosemite area it is reasonable. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The free breakfast is not going to win any Michelin stars, but is very good for what it is - coffee, pastries, toast, waffles, eggs, sausage, cereal, and the like. The lady who was in charge of the breakfast has a delightfully outgoing personality and works hard to please her guests. Mariposa is a wonderfully friendly and charming town with a couple of interesting museums and several good restaurants (we liked the 1850 Restaurant enough to eat there twice). It will, however, take you 45 minutes to an hour to drive into Yosemite. Overall, my wife and I liked the motel very much and would gladly stay there again.
The hotel is convenient to get to Yosemite Park. The breakfast is the same as other hotels with the same items but it is good. There is no indoor pool. The beds are hard and the shower head does not have any pressure. The staff is OK but not always "on the ball."
Disappointing to have a limited number of free to air TV channels to choose from (7?) The rest were pay to view especially considering the price we paid to stay here. All the usual brochures and TV instructions are apparently hidden in a drawer unlike every other BW Hotel I have stayed in.
Very friendly and helpful staff, even when we checked in at 12:30 AM! Our room was sparkling clean and comfortable. Convenient parking. And it's in a terrific location, easy to walk all over Mariposa which is a very interesting little town.
I would recommend this property to people interested in visiting Yosemite National Park. This property is in a small town outside the main entrance to the park and it takes approx. 1 hr to drive into/out of the park. Considering the cost of lodging inside the park this property is a great deal and it does include breakfast as well as updated/clean rooms. We were very pleased with the hotel staff friendliness and the check in/check out process was easy. I would recommend booking a reservation at this property in advance because of it's popularity for Yosemite. We booked in advance and the two night's we stayed there was no vacancy.
This Best Western is situated in the wonderful little town of Mariposa, which is an hour and a half drive from Yosemite's El Portal gate. The drive into the park along the Merced River is beautiful. The town itself has two interesting museums and good restaurants and shopping. The Yosemite Way Station Motel is right on a pathway along a little waterway--lots of birds to enjoy just outside your room.
Stayed overnight on our way into Yosemite and it was a good choice. Location was very good and it was an easy walk to downtown and restaurants. Check-in went well and they provided us with a list of nearby restaurants they recommended. Had a ground floor room, which was nice. Room was average but comfortable and clean. Breakfast was decent and plentiful. Overall, a good stay.
First the good news, Mariposa is a delightful little town within walking distance of this hotel. The hotel is fine and potentially could be a four star location except for some serious issues. First it is overpriced for a Best Western by about 50%. They seem to be charging a premium for proximity to Yosemite. Secondly, an officious fellow at the front desk insisted he did not need to accommodate: our service dog unless there was a dog friendly room available. Fortunately, the lady at the desk reminded his that indeed there was one last dog-friendly room available and that he was wrong in his interpretation of the service dog rule. Finally, they had an angry group of travelers waiting for breakfast at the announced start time of 6:30 am with the doors not opening and breakfast not being served until 6:45 am. If ever in Mariposa again, would likely try one of the other hotels rated higher than this one.
The Best Western in Mariposa is on the edge of the quaint little downtown, next to the creek and the community walking trail. Three stories, but if you park in the back, you'll only have to go up two staircases to get to the third floor. We were given a large, free-standing room on the upper floor, with a big sofa, desk, fridge, and microwave, and a very comfortable bed. Some noise from the truck traffic on the highway that goes right through town. The front desk clerk couldn't have been nicer or more helpful when we checked in. Standard buffet breakfast in a good-sized breakfast room. Rather pricey, but excellent location for exploring Yosemite.
Typical Best Western, though it was more expensive than comparable hotels in the area. Friendly staff, nice full breakfast in a roomy area. The room was clean and comfortable. "Downtown" Mariposa was easily walkable, and is a nice little town. No elevators, but all rooms have outside entrance and most are easily accessible.
This is a nice place with lovely adjoining trail for your four-legged family members. We enjoyed the surroundings immensely as a base camp for our excursion to Yosemite. Mariposa is a quaint town and we enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Plus Yosemite!
Very nice hotel in a little quaint town about 30 miles from the park entrance. Rooms are well equipped and modern. Outside doors to rooms. Breakfast room was very large and attractive, but scrambled eggs were over-cooked.
Stayed in Mariposa the night before heading into Yosemite National Park. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was as advertised. Everything was clean and serviceable. The complimentary breakfast was just what we needed before heading out for a long day. I would stay here again.
Overpriced for room quality and amenities provided at this property. Property is 40 minutes from Yosemite Park, so my assessment is the price again is too high. Complimentary breakfast is pretty good with the exception eggs are made from mix,.., hot tub is very tiny, prohibits comfortable use with more than two people in spa. No work out facility on property. television is dated, needs to be upgraded, as well as bed matresses.
we liked the hotel..Hotel was good ,reliable and safe, you will get all required amenities which you need. service is good, overall experience is good...breakfast is good, staff is helping..everything is good.
Very nicely and conveniently lodging located in the vicinity of Yosemite at about 45 min. from the park. Very comfortable rooms with fine amenities and hot breakfast. It's a real treat to be in this historic Mariposa community with a range of eateries closeby. You'll enjoy it. A real Plus.
They are helpful and honest. Good people work at this hotel. Let me elaborate. We were visiting Yosemite during off-season, so we didn't book a hotel for a Tuesday night. My travel companion felt under the weather, and I had mentioned that while checking in. Bob was so helpful and professional during check-in. Then, he pulls out a town map and gives me directions to a pharmacy. Then highlighted where the restaurants were located in town. Bob booked us in a room very close to the breakfast room, so it wasn't be a burden on my travel companion. He went above and beyond and made such a good impression on me. The room had been updated. The beds were very comfortable. I slept very well at this hotel. The linens were in good condition. The breakfast satisfactory. I had hung up our jackets in the closet to dry after getting caught in light rain earlier that day. I completely forgot them. And I didn't realize it until 6 o'clock that night. We were in Oakhurst that night. But Mariposa is only a half hour drive. I called this hotel to see if our jackets were found. The polite lady at the front desk immediately checked and confirmed that they had been turned in. The maid's name was Gladys. We went on a really pretty drive to Mariposa and picked up our jackets. So, thank you Gladys for turning in our jackets. The kindness of the staff here really made an impression on me. And I believe if you are treated above and beyond the norm, you should tell others.
The Motel is a good place to stay if visiting Yosemite, and is also well-positioned in the lovely town of Mariposa. The room was clean and all that was needed for one night's stay. Although I was on my own on this holiday, I liked that there were two stands for suitcases, as finding room to put two if needed, is often difficult. There are lots of really interesting little shops in the town, old buildings, and many places to eat. From my room I could hear frogs in a nearby stream, which was rather nice! I would have to describe breakfast as "ok", I expect more fruit these days, but at least there was breakfast at the hotel and it was nice not to have to go out to find somewhere to eat early in the morning.
The room was clean, free wifi signal strong, comfortable bed, good bathroom plumbing. It is a short walk to a couple of restaurants. The breakfast was really below par-no real butter, no green tea, no cream cheese, no whole milk, below average breads and bagels. If you don't care about the breakfast, it works.
Clean room for good price. And no bed bugs. The staff was very helpful and accommodating to our needs. They pointed out a good restaurant that was close. The town was full of cute shops, that kept my wife entertained. Close to Yosemite park. About a hour drive to Yosemite gates and wonders.
Well all I can say is that our room had bed bugs, check out my pictures, luckily we find out right away my husband and me woke up my kids right away and went to the front desk the lady sound like they have that problem all the time, I had to ask her to switch our room, we stay there for 3 nights and for the price we pay I was expecting something better, the only pleasant person was Lisa that works at the breakfast area, overall not a good experience staying in this hotel. But the town Mariposa is lovely. Yosemite is about 45 minutes to 1 hour from Mariposa.
We had trouble sleeping here because the beds were so hard. This is a cute property adjacent to a nice park and creek. It's a great, quiet place to walk. It's about a two block walk to historic Mariposa with all the little shops and restaurants. Good internet access and lots of TV channels. Breakfast was fine with eggs, bacon and standard continental items. I thought it was a little pricey, especially with the $20 dog fee. I would have given a higher rating if I had been able to sleep.
Tried to stay in Yosemite but because it was booked we drove out to Mariposa. Have been here before and stayed at another motel downtown. After staying here would not do that again. We actually got the last room in Mariposa. Stayed on second floor with parking on back of Building so we did not have to walk up stairs. Room comfortable and quiet. Shower was excellent. Would definitely come to stay here again. Go to the museum.
The owners and staff made sure I had a pleasant stay and bent over backwards to book me another night when i needed to extend. The room was clean, comfortable, and in spite of facing a side to the road, it was quiet. The complementary breakfast was plentiful and presented by a happy and welcoming staff. Everything met my expectations and I intend to return next year.
We stayed in the town of Mariposa for two nights for the purpose of spending a full day at Yosemite. The park is about a 45 minute drive away. Lodging in the park is more expensive, and staying in National Parks can be crowded and somewhat "iffy". This Best Western is an older facility, but appears to have been renovated. The hallways are exterior, and there are no elevators. We stayed on the third floor (our choice), and had to carry our luggage up several steps. I prefer this for security. Our room seemed clean, but was dark. I cannot compare it to other hotels in the area. At all times, the staff seemed very friendly and helpful. Upon check in, we were given information about the park, as well as helpful pointers. The breakfast was adequate and plentiful. On Sunday, the room was very over crowded; On Monday, it was comfortable. The staff there was SO pleasant! The town of Mariposa is so quaint. If you have the time, walk down Main Street and visit the cute shops. Everyone is so friendly!
Such a great setting, right at the start of town. The whole family loved this trip, and we'll be back this summer with friends! Food, shopping, and prices are all great! Yosemite Zip lines are a must, as well as Hammer Stryke!
We enjoyed our stay at this Best Western. It was a pleasant drive from the Bay Area, and we had a chance to relax and refresh before heading in the next morning for a very full day. The check-in was efficient, in spite of quite a few guests arriving all at once. Our room was very clean, quiet and updated, and my request for an upper floor was available on the back side of the building. Quite a spacious room, including a sofa, refrigerator, and microwave. The stairs are a bit narrow, especially when lugging bags, so keep this in mind. We were given a recommendation for dinner in town, which turned out to be exactly what we were looking for. The tv was nice and new, but a little quirky to operate. I'm not familiar with Dish Network, so that might have entered into it. The wi-fi worked just fine. Breakfast was satisfactory. Waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage, cereal, fresh fruit. I was amazed at how well-run it was. The woman in charge was busy cleaning and refilling, and smiling while she worked. I have to acknowledge the British woman who checked us out. She was very helpful and generous with her attention in ensuring we had a great experience at Yosemite.I would definitely return to stay here again.
This hotel was perfect for an overnight stay prior to our journey to Yosemite National Park. The hotel room was extremely spacious and the staff at reception were very helpful and friendly. The room was fully air-conditioned and the bathroom had all the necessary amenities. Breakfast was buffet style and was sufficient for us. The town of Mariposa itself is lovely. A proper little cowboy type town.
One hour drive from Yosemite National Oark, this hotel can help you if you do not want to pay at least 300 $ in the park or if all is full I payed 116$ for 2 adults 3 children the rollaway must be great as it cost in itself 20$ Staff very very average Freebie breakfast Mariposa is small
This hotel is special mainly due their wonderful staff. Whether we were asking questions at the front desk or eating in the breakfast room, we really enjoyed the people who work there. There were two outstanding employees working in the breakfast buffet area--Lisa and Amy. They were very friendly, helpful and had a great sense of humor. The only negative was that there was a lot of construction going on right outside our room. The room was clean and comfortable.
The Manager/Owners of this hotel were amazing. They provided us with a wealth of information about Yosemite National Park which we were staying in the area to visit including all the weather and road conditions. They really went out of their way to make sure we got the most out of our visit and enjoyed our stay. The hotel is well equipped, clean and very good value for money. It is only a short drive from Yosemite National Park is much better value than staying inside the park itself.
If you didn't reserve lodges in yosemite NP, choose this hotel. Nice breakfirst, spacious parking, calm environement.. Especially, this is much satisfactory for familiy. One problem is little bit small bed.
hotel is good to say only overnight. we spend most of the time in yellowstone an came back to the Hotel only to sleep. rooms ok, service as well ok, friendly staff. 45 min by car to yosemite entry. tj.
My wife and I had stayed here several times, but had missed a few years. There've been some changes made. Parts of the meeting/breakfast building are now an exercise room and a coin laundry, which was handy for drying our hoodie jackets on a wet weekend. Our room was excellent.
Nice hotel in a small town at the gateway to Yosemite National Park. It is an older motel but nicely kept and remodeled with tile in the bathrooms. Breakfast room was roomy and spacious with plenty of tables. Hot breakfast was good.
This is a very nice Best Western Plus / Motel. Clean & quite. We would stay there again. Staff nice & friendly. Very helpful, both by phone and upon arrival. But we did not get the rate our reservation was quoted at... I think they failed to give the AAA discount. We did not have our printed copy with us. I did not ask for a refund after returning home. We also received a surprise of a 'goodie bag ' from TripAdvisor!! With waters, candies, shampoo and body bath items. Nice touch! The motel is clean, new paint, carpets and drapes. Close enough to the town area to walk, for shopping or dinner. The breakfast & coffee offered could use improvement. We will be back. ?
The hotel was very comfy. The staff was very sweet and friendly. The continental breakfast was great. The hotel is walking distance to an excellent pizza place. Overall stay was Excellent! The drive is not too far to Yosemite.
This hotel was built in the 50's however, this is fully remodeled. Rooms are great as you would expect from any newer Best Western hotels. The service with a smile both at the reservation desk and in the breakfast room. The room comes with an awesome breakfast. Egg, sausage, waffle along with pastries and other goodies. This hotel is located right on downtown Mariposa on the way to Yosemite. You can walk to restaurants and unique stores. Don't forget to visit Mariposa museum. It is great for kids. Drive to Yosemite is about 45 minutes on highway 140. I would definitely stay here again.
If you planning to go to Yosemite and still looking for some comforts in a small town, then Best Western it is. Mariposa is a very small town with decent amenities about 43 miles from Yosemite west entrance on Highway 140. The hotel is well lit and conveniently located on highway 140. Just across the road you have shops and up the street pizzerias, restaurants, etc. At Best Western, we got what they said we will get on their website.Wifi is a very plus factor as there is no mobile service is that entire area. Breakfast is another very plus point. Rooms are very neat and spacious. We were traveling with our toddler with special dietary restrictions, so the microwave and refrigerator were very useful to store and heat home brought food.
Nice overnight stop on our way yo Yosemite. The town has good choices for dining and libations. Room was as expected for a Best Western Plus. The only downfall was the door was not square in the jamb, so cold air came in under the door. Other than that, nice and roomy. We had the single king. Breakfast was as expected. Only issues, no newspaper, and no peanut butter. They had the make to order waffles, and I like PB on my waffles. It has as short a drive as you will find to Yosemite Valley without staying in the valley.
Clean and tidy, no real issues with it. Check in was fine and quick, plenty of parking and close to the centre of town. Breakfast was ok although a bit busy being peak season. Pleasant for a couple of nights/
Stayed here on a motorcycle tour through the area this weekend. Very nice hotel, one block walk along the creek to downtown Mariposa. Modern decor, clean and friendly staff. Definitely a great place to stay in Mariposa and the price was reasonable.
Beds were comfortable, location was quiet, rooms were clean, and it was in a good location. We stayed there on our way into Yosemite Park. The breakfast was okay not great. For dinner we had a wonderful meal at Charles Street Place and for lunch before we left we ate at Happy Burger Diner. Great food, big servings, but don't be in a rush when you go there.
Very nice place to stay. Easy access to all eateries in town and direct shot into the park on Hwy 140... Hotel has all the amenities one could need and the staff is very friendly. Would highly recommend this hotel to folks coming into the area...
I booked 10 rooms for a college field trip. I couldn't have been more pleased with the service we were provided. The owners/managers/staff were friendly and very accommodating. Rooms were spacious for that area of the world. Rooms were very clean and breakfast was the usual food, but warm and plentiful. These folks care about people, not just the business side. I have stayed in many motels in that area and I will never stay any place again but this Best Western for business or pleasure.
Room is spacious and clean. Beds and pillows are really confortable making a good sleeping experience. Breakfast was good for the price range, fresh made waffles, eggs and sausage, juice, tea, coffe, cereals, cakes and fresh fruit. It has a decent wifi connection swimming pool and hot jacuzzi.
Coming through Yosemite at sunset and heading out on Highway 140 I knew I wanted to stay in this little town since I had a long way to go and needed a break. Its located on the outer edge of town and they have a nice little downtown area not too far. The staff was super friendly and such a pleasure to talk to upon arriving here after a rather long day. I got a room around back it was upstairs and it was nice a quiet and I felt safe traveling alone. The rooms were very nice, spacious, and had everything I needed including a blowdryer. The breakfast area was near my room as well and they had a very pleasant staff working in there too and just made a wonderful start to the day. I ended up going back into town to do a little shopping after breakfast. I would recommend this hotel to anyone coming through the area come or going to Yosemite it is a good pitstop and or home base.
Not a bad room, clean and cozy but the bed was so hard I had to go try to sleep on the sofa early in the night. Breakfast is included and it is typical freebie hotel breakfast, not good but just ok. I have had a tough time with Best western.. Inconsistent quality and so have started looking at other choices.
Mariposa is a beautiful town and about an hour away from Yosemite. This hotel was clean, check in and out a breeze. Ate at the Sugar Pine restaurant down the street- best pancakes ever! Nice place and nice people
The rooms were nice and clean, Staff was GREAT and real friendly. Location was fabulous, walking distance to the down town area. The beds where a little firm for my liking but overall it was decent. We felt safe in the area, well lit. I would stay again.
Stayed 2 nights during visit to Yosemite. Great price for 2 queens with AAA rate. Our room was clean and comfortable, couldn't have asked for much more. Staff was cordial too. Even the wifi was decent enough to look up park info, etc. I would definitely recommend staying here.
Hotel room was neat, spacious and clean. The breakfast was really good. I dint expect such a decent hotel at this remote location. I would really recommend this hotel for a decent budget stay for people who are planning to Yosemite.
Although Yosemite NP is approx an hour away, this hotel is in a nice little town of Mariposa which offers several dining options. The hotel is nice and clean, the hotel staff is accomodating. I will definitely recommend this place.
Family overnighter sight seeing in YNP. First time staying in Mariposa. Pluses: Cost party of 4 under $130 x2 beds (off season) w\\AAA discount (CAUTION: upon reserving for more than 2 people they charge at a rate of $10 for 12yrs+ to the room) easy to find, right off the 140 highway entering Mariposa. Quick check-in with small town hospitality upon arrival, Room 214 was facing the highway but it's OFF SEASON so we had no traffic noise. We felt safe. Warm feel to the room, good water pressure in the shower, comfy bed, free parking, cable & WiFi, good location for family travel as it is close to all your travel needs. To work on: the Buffet is located in the back annex so be prepared to walk. Business center was down and the hostesses couldn't get it to work so I wasnt able to print the YARTS schedule. Lack of toiletries in the room IE...we needed q-tips & lotion, they had it but we had to go get it in the main lobby. No slip guards on the concrete steps and 28° the morning we were here, good morning if your not careful! The room served its purpose but was nothing special.
Having spent Twelve hours flying from Australia and five hours driving from LA, we really need a quiet motel for a long nights sleep. Going to bed about 7:00pm, we heard nothing until we woke at 7:00, but even then there was no outside noise to disturb us. Checking in we were given the option of a rear or front room and selected the front, and we're very happy with the total absence of noise. The beds were most comfortable and the heating not noisy enough to keep us awake. With a usual large Best Western room we couldn't have been happier with the room. The included breakfast had a selection of scrambled eggs ( a bit too cool) and sausages, as well as superb waffles, cereal, selection of Danish, fresh fruit and coffee and cold drinks. All in all an excellent included breakfast. The free wifi was fast.
We stayed over the Thanksgiving weekend. Nice, comfortable, clean, friendly staff. We were given a room in the back and it was quiet. Free breakfast: industrial scramble eggs, sausages, make your own waffles, cold cereals, danishes, muffins n'toast. i.e. the usual stuff you'll expect for a free hot breakfast. Would come back on our next trip to Yosemite.
I can not recommend to stay in this place. It has just too many issues. First: the bath room floor had a crack. This is very dangerous specially when you travel with a small kid. We told this to the reception on the next morning. They only taped the crack and did not offer us a different room. Second: the breakfast selection is just not enough. No proper butter, no bagels, no cheese, and so on. Even the friendly breakfast manager lady could not save this. Third: the pool is a joke. Small, old and not welcoming. It seems like they put water in a small whole to be able to put "pool" on the hotel description. Four: Housekeeping knocked and opened the door early in the morning and woke up the baby (despite do not disturb sign). Five: Room was booked and paid for two nights but room keys were set for one night only. Bringing it to the point: when you spend 200 dollars for your room you expect more for your money. The hotel management needs to invest more in the hotel!
large rooms, comfy beds, plenty of space for luggage. Clean rooms. Very friendly staff who were happy to share restaurant recommendations, maps and ideas for places to visit. Breakfast was ok - avoid busy times. outdoor pool and Jacuzzi was highly appreciated after a day walking in the forest. An easy place to find and explore Yosemite from.
Mariposa is a small town. This Motel is so convenient for anywhere you are planning to go around Yosemite. It is right on the main road and we asked to be off the street. She found a room in the back of the motel and it was both clean and comfortable. Nice beds and towels. I'm super sensitive to cigarette smoke and our room was really a non-smoking room. They have an "express breakfast" which was OK. I opted for one of the small restaurants. If I come back I would stay here again.
This Best Western close to Yosemite National Park provide rooms with are clean and good size with comfortable beds. Nice outdoor pool. Good breakfast. Would recommend getting a room in the back as the front is facing the road and is quite noisy. Check in check out efficient and pleasant. Would check in again in this hotel if I go back to Mariposa/Yosemite.
I felt really hopeful about this hotel after having such a pleasant encounter with Claire at the front desk. She was so personable and patient with all of our questions about Yosemite. You would think she would be sick of all of us by now! But no, a real trooper. Our room was perfectly fine. Couldn't hear the traffic on the road, the air conditioner noise was minimal, the furnishings on the new side and immaculate bathroom. Carpet a little spotted in our pet room but our dog didn't seem to mind. Didn't try the breakfast there as we kept accidentally on purpose finding our way to Jantz Bakery every morning!
Given the expensive hotels in Yosemite, this BW offers great value and comfortable clean rooms. The washing facilities were helpful and the pool was clean. However, despite having talked to two nice and helpful receptionists earlier in the day, the afternoon lady was rude and unhelpful. With 11 rooms booked, we were told that some wouldn't be ready until 4pm instead of 3pm. Doesn't sound much but when you have people who have driven a long way and are tired, they are keen to get washed and rest. Breakfast was mediocre.
We've stayed in this motel about twenty times in the last thirty years, and it is constantly being improved. The staff is helpful and friendly and reccommended two excellent restaurants in town plus a car show nearby. The motel is pet-friendly and provides a free doggy gift upon arrival. The continental breakfast was fine, with the standard sticky wafflemaker no big deal. We will return the next time we're in town.
We stayed here for 3 nights in September as we'd had trouble finding somewhere in Yosemite that wasn't remote and you could actually leave your hotel at night and go somewhere other than their restaurant/bar. We chose Mariposa as was a lovely looking place just 30 miles from Yosemite's east gate. The room was fine (I think we were in room 5 downstairs at the front and we could park the car right outside). The room was a decent size and clean. We didn't experience any traffic noise even though we were at the front of the hotel near the main road. The breakfast was good and we only had to walk 2 minutes into town where we met friendly locals and tourists alike and ate in some really good restaurants.
We stayed at Best Westerns in Mariposa and Oakhurst. This is far better and a bit closer to Yosemite Valley. Good staff overall. Breakfast is good and what you expect. There where a number of construction workers staying at the hotel in the rooms around us. Unfortunately they acted like typical construction workers sitting outside their rooms on the walkway drinking and cursing endlessly. They carried on quite late. Minus this experience this would have been a great stay.
My experience at this location was excellant, I've always been treated very well at any Bester Western that I have stayed at. If I travel I always seek out a Best Western!! Thanks!! I always recommend Bester Western to all my friends and family.
This hotel was very clean and the staff was very friendly. Our check in was easy. We very inquisitive about the area and what to do, best place to eat, etc. - the staff was very helpful and seemed to enjoy talking about the wonderful little town of Mariposa. The dining staff, where the free breakfast was served, were fabulous. Lisa, the manager, is over the top fantastic. She was very accommodating. She kept the area clean and inviting. Lisa made our trip one to remember!!
You couldn't ask for a more wonderful group of people to stay with. Manager Bob helped us to get our rooms coordinated for our large group staying in their hotel. He kept in contact with me from start to finish making sure that my every questions and concern was addressed. The front desk was equally as friendly, even offering us an iron to take off site when ours broke and we were panicking the day before a wedding. Not to mention there were beautiful, quiet rooms to sleep in that are a good size, and well decorated. I loved the dark red accent wall. Plus free breakfast, free wifi that worked perfectly, and hot water with good pressure that didnt turn cold randomly while we showered. This hotel is a wonderful budget hotel with 5 star service from start to finish.
Much driving from Sacramento to Sonora for a memorial service. Then on to Yosemite-had to visit Tuolumne Meadows and the Yosemite Valley. We headed out toward Merrced. Came to Mariposa and stopped for dinner kind of late. Too pooped to continue driving we decided to stop at Best Western. Friendly desk clerk offered a reduced rate even before we asked. That was a nice surprise. The room was nice, clean and roomy. The TV worked! We fell asleep and, even though the motel is right on the highway, the road noise was minimal. Would I recommend this motel-in a word-YES!
A very consistent hotel brand name, easy parking, continental breakfast, swimming pool and hot tub. Seemed like the most central and best value for a hotel outside of Yosemite. We received exactly what we bargained for, no surprises at all. There are a variety of hotels and activities close by and Yosemite National Park is about a 45 minute drive in either direction.
Nice BW with newly redone rooms. Separate sink, quiet, great lighting, great bed. Breakfast was adequate, room quite large. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Would stay again if in the area. Not sure why it is a BW Plus, still have not figured out how they determine this category. Wifi was okay, not great.
Despite the fact that areas of Yosemite were closed due to smoke and National Park Rangers urged people especially asthmatics like my 7 year old son to stay away, I was refused a refund after cancelling 24 hours out. The policy is 48 hours and I understand that but the fact that you couldn't make an exception under these circumstances is unbelievable. Keep in mind this happened the same day we were evacuated from King's Canyon due to smoke/fire. Thanks to Beverly at the Best Western Mariposa I will NEVER EVER stay at another Best Western again. I hope somebody in management at BW reads these reviews and realizes that allowing the "on site Management to make all of the refund decisions" may not be the best idea. I travel extensively and will never even consider BW again, thanks again Beverly.
This facility was well maintained and had an accommodating staff. The beds were extremely comfortable. My wife who has some issues with her back had absolutely no problem with these beds. We stayed two nights in order to visit Yosemite National Park and its sites. The town is small but offered good restaurants and some fun shopping. The Best Western staff was very helpful in providing directions and directing us to the best places to eat.
My wife booked this hotel, as it was close to Yosemite. I wasn't expecting much from this hotel. When we got into the room I was pleasantly surprised at how clean and modern the room was. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you're looking for some where close to stay to Yosemite that isn't to expensive. Breakfast was also included.
This was a nice place to stay. The motel is close proximity to Yosemite roughly 45 mile drive in to the park from here. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The ladies that worked in the breakfast room were awesome! Convenient walking distance to places for food and shopping.
This is an extremely overpriced hotel, all due to its proximity to Yosemite (though it's actually quite far - a good hour drive to the valley, if you're lucky!) And this shouldn't be a Best Western Plus - this is most definitely not a "Plus" - it's a regular Best Western - not sure how it got its "Plus" designation. Let's talk about the location first -- this is NOT CLOSE TO YOSEMITE. It might look close on a map, but trust me on this, this is NOT an ideal location. However, when you want to visit the parks last-minute without lodging in the valley, this is what you're left with. This is at LEAST an hour away from the park! The rooms were fine - clean, comfy bed, working WiFi, etc. No complaints. The bad part about this place (and what earned it two stars) is the breakfast and the pool. The breakfast is not good. Fake, powdered eggs, slimy sausages -- everything just looked gross. It's also located in a big conference room in a shed out in the back parking lot of the hotel. If you weren't told it was there, it'd be impossible to find. The one positive though was the cheery lady working the breakfast area - what a doll! It's not her fault she has a crummy product to work with. The pool - Oh dear. OH DEAR. Check out my photos. Yes, the pool area was OPEN FOR USE. Despite the piles of 2x4s, exposed nails and TOILETS (look at my photo if you don't believe me) all piled around the pool area and hot tub. How is this safe? Why was this pool area open?!! It's been a few months since our stay, so perhaps they've finished their construction project. Management should take some care and precautions when attempting these projects and close off the areas if they are going to leave cement bricks, old toilets and lumber out in the public areas....especially ones where kids tend to be..
