    « Great hotel »

Very nice hotel with an amazing location. The room was nice and big, the staff was good and the facilities as well. Didn't use the pool but the gym was well-equipped. The restaurant and bar was ok but a bit expensive.

« Fantastic value; super comfortable and quiet! »

We had a fabulous stay. We had several rooms and all of us were happyWe stayed from a family event and it couldnt have been better. In addition, it is convenient to everything is the city. Very well maintained and clean, in addition to being updated recently. Loved our time with you.

    « Madison conference »

Very nice hotel, clean, great pool and fitness center. Room was very clean and nicely appointed. I will definitely go back when in Madison. The location of the hotel was terrific. You really don't even need a car to get around. Close to great restaurants and outdoor activities.

    « Best location »

The hotel is located opposite to Capitol building. The best restaurants of Madison are located in close vicinity and it offers you wide range of delicious food. Even the restaurant of hotel is quite good. Staff is very courteous and helpful. Overall a good place to stay.

    « Beautiful Hotel - Crappy Bed »

This is a stunning hotel. The place with newly renovated and had stunning views of the capital building. The room was extremely clean and beautiful. Unfortunately, their beds were hard and lumpy. The staff seemed rude when I brought that to their attention. Assistant manager was able to get housekeeping to add blankets and mattress pads, which helped a lot. Just be aware of that.

« excellent location and service!! »

We lived in Madison for many years and come back about twice a year now. Always stay at another hotel, but decided to give this Best Western a try. We were NOT disappointed. We had our two teens with us. Check in was smooth, the room was clean, beds were fantastic, location is the best, right on the square!! Valet parking a plus, so you don't have to deal with trying to find parking yourself. Front desk staff were excellent, ALL of them! We will be changing where we stay from now on :)

    « Epic XGM 2018 »

Great hotel, awesome location and nicely updated. I really like the ease in using the shuttle service, checking in and checking out. I did call and request a room with capital view, but was given a view of the mechanical area of the roof. I didn't call back down to request a room change, overall the room was great and well decorated. I think our company will continue to use this site for future visits for Epic.

« Wedding Bliss in a Polar Vortex »

Excellent service for accommodating a large group of guests for a wedding on April 14th, which had the worst winter storm in decades. The valet parking really did an excellent job at getting everyone to the reception and back to the Best Western at the end of the night.

    « Enjoyable experience »

I highly recommend. Checked in when the weather was terrible. Concierge parking just a few feet from the check in counter was friendly, easy, and affordable ($15 a day). King room was slightly on the small side but bath and shower were large and immaculate. Bed was great and room was quite. we ate at a steak place right across street so did not have to drive until we left. And p.s. they also have a nice little restaurant next to lobby with a great breakfast selection.

    « Better than expected »

Had a weekend stay-cation at the Park Hotel. A complete renovation has just been completed and everything is nice and new. Best part, there was always an elevator ready with the door open in the lobby. My room had a king bed and sleeper sofa on the top floor, I would call it a junior suite. Nice neutral decor and very clean. No soaking tub in the bathroom, but an enormous shower stall, a full four by four feet. Water was soft, pressure was great, and it had a great four-way shower head. Staff was always friendly. Due to the excellent location, this is probably the best hotel in Madison at the moment.

    « GREAT customer service! »

Checked in and went to take a showe and the handle would not work. Water wouldn't stop. Called front desk and they were able to switch rooms AND gave me a complimentary breakfast for my troubles! That's how you do it!! Thank you BWP!!

« Great spot to stay on Capitol Square »

I travel to Madison for work several times a year, and often stay at this hotel. I highly recommend it whether you are traveling for business or pleasure in the downtown Madison area. The hotel has been rehabbed and the rooms are really nicely appointed. The beds are comfortable too. The rooms have a mini fridge and many have views of the Capitol. My last room actually had a pool atrium view. I was surprised at how nice the pool area is! It is beautiful, big, bright and clean. I didn't go for a swim, as I was not traveling with the kids. Had I been with the kids, the room would have been really perfect! The staff at the front desk is very welcoming and their parking rate includes valet which is a huge perk to me. The only thing that would make this hotel better would be an included breakfast option which makes traveling for business even easier. I am sure I will be back to this hotel time and time again, having already stayed here about 4-5 times.

    « Highly Recommend »

This is our second time at the BW Premier Park Hotel in Madison, WI. The second time was just as great as the first time. It is a very efficient Hotel. Always clean, the staff from the front desk to housekeeping, to valet parking are all professional and accommodating. The rooms are very efficient. The difference in price from registering online what significant, but we knew what we were getting in a room and worth the chance. So we Thank You BW Premier Park Hotel for another wonderful stay.

« Add a Hot Tub and This Would Be a Perfect Place. »

Beautifully remodeled hotel with wonderful front desk service and valet service. They held our bags for us and let us keep our car in their garage after checkout as we toured the State Capitol. The price was a bit higher than normal because we were there during a peak time, March Madness basketball games, and St. Patrick's Day on top of that, but it was worth it for the convenience of being near the two places that we needed to be at for our trip. The room was clean, bathroom impeccable, no problems with the shower or anything at all. No loud noises from outside traffic or neighboring rooms. Near to coffee shops, restaurants, even for vegans and vegetarians. Zero complaints. Wait! I can always use a a hot tub, wish there was one here. :)

    5
« Great Stay in Madison »

Clean and quiet room. Staff was friendly and helpful. Great location across from the Capitol and near all the great restaurants. Complimentary airport service was a nice service. I would definitely stay again and highly recommend.

    5
« No other choice for us »

We love staying here. The location, facility the front desk are all wonderful. We have stayed here several times since 2013. They just finished remodeling in 2017. The price is always the best too. Yes, you can get a room with absolutely no view, but the location beats that feature and you can always pay more and get an awesome view of the square.

    « Our go-to September lodging. »

My family comes to Madison each September for Ironman Wisconsin (of which my husband is a participant) and we have stayed here every time. This hotel is perfect in terms of location, amenities, and comfort. The recent renovations are very nice, and the staff is always friendly and accommodating. We have always stayed here because another Ironman participant reserves a block of rooms, but we've enjoyed our stays so much that when we decided to spend a Christmas weekend in Madison we stayed here. We were a little bummed that the pool was out of service, but otherwise it was as pleasant as each of our other visits. See you in September, BWPPH!

    5
    « Great location »

Nice hotel in a great location! Tons of great restaurants in short walking distance. State street is also only a short walk to shops and bars. Room was small but nice and clean. Recommend to anyone looking for a nice hotel in a great area.

    5
« Easy. Beautiful. Great Location »

Here for a business trip at the Alliant Energy Center. Chose to stay on the square for proximity to restaurants and just general activity, Very happy with the location, appearance, price, ease of check-in, and nearby coffee shops/restaurants.

    5
« Great place and Location! »

This is a lovely, clean Best Western that has all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. The restaurant bar has great food and drinks. Its proximity to the capital is convenient. The staff are remarkable and attentive.

  • 4
    « Very nice »

The staff here were great, very friendly and willing to help. The valet staff were also very helpful. The room was clean and very neat. Very comfortable and cozy. The view of the capital building was awesome.

    5
« Great hotel on the square in Madison »

The recent remodeling of this hotel has made it an outstanding place to stay, great rooms, convenient to Capitol and Dane County courts. The rates are a good value. The breakfast menu is limited, that would be my only complaint and that's minor.

    5
« Short but enjoyable stay »

We stayed for 1 quick night on our holiday drive home from MN to OH. The hotel appears to be recently renovated and that was a treat! Almost felt like staying in a brand new hotel. Location can't be beat with right on the Capital Square near bars and restaurants. We let the kids burn off energy in the pool and it was clean, spacious and fun! One of the pool side rooms could be fun if you were staying longer or with a group of families. Overall a great experience and would recommend.

    3
    « Fair »

No maid service, no help with luggage either in or out of the car or into or out of the hotel! When ask to come to the room with a cart was told to go to the lobby and get it ourselves! For what we paid a night none of this should of happened. Also never got a email of the bill like they said.

    4
    « The Bar $$ »

Don't drink at the bar. Two drinks totaled a cost of $17.00 dollars. Better places within walking distance for food and drink. Bar was empty now we know why. Three TV's only two working and the staff did not seemed to card. Staff gave us our drinks then disappeared to a corner chair to troll his phone.

    5
    « Beautiful »

Amazing location and beautiful hotel. We payed extra for the city view which I assumed was the Capitol view but it is the view of the lakes and other buildings. The remodeled pool is gorgeous! Great for business or social gatherings!

    4
« Nice place but staff could be friendlier »

Great location on the square and close to restaurants & bars. Parking and easy access to just about everything in Madison. Staff were ok. Did not go out of their way for you, but the staff in the restaurant were very nice & helpful.

    5
« Perfect location and perfect staff »

This is a very nice hotel across the street from the state capitol building. My adult children and I stayed here for a few days in December as one of them graduated from UW. The rooms are clean, comfortable and well stocked. The staff was professional and friendly.

    5
« Right on the Square View of Capital »

Very nice recent remodel. Restaurant has an amazing tiled floor and very diverse breakfast menu items. The view of the Wisconsin State Capital was wonderful. Their fitness center is currently under renovations, but they do offer a basic fitness alternative. The rooms were very quiet and excellent room darkening shades. Make sure you set your alarm because the sun will not shine through the closed blinds to wake you up.

    5
    « Madison's Best »

A beautiful place to stay with all the comforts of home and very convenient to the downtown Madison amenities. The views from the rooms facing the Capitol building are stunning. Staff are friendly. Shuttle drivers friendly and timely.

  • 4
« Nice place, staff and very comfy bed »

Nice place, very clean and very comfy bed would highly recommend the food is just ok but not bad very friendly and helpful staff convenient location and I will stay there again if traveling to that area.

    4
« Great location, nice remodel, questionable shower »

This hotel has recently been renovated and the rooms look very appealing. Nice toiletries, wide variety of types. The shower looks wonderful, but is terrible for short people and makes it very hard to get shampoo out of your hair. The "rain"-type shower head is impossible to adjust so it does not come down on top of my head. Worse, I could not get hard enough pressure to make removing shampoo and conditioner easy to remove. There is only valet parking. It used to involve indoor parking. My car seemed to have been kept outside somewhere, which is not worth the $10 a night. It came from someplace other than the parking structure at the hotel.

    5
« Will definitely stay here again »

We really like this hotel (this was our second stay in the past two years). Everything about it is top notch and we will definitely stay here again. We particularly liked our room, which overlooked the capitol and the park. It's a great place to stay in Madison.

    5
    « Quick Business Trip »

Clean room, large working living room, spacious bedroom, quiet and close to many great restaurants. Staff were great and helpful. The only downfall was the fitness center and the pool were closed, but I would definitely come back again.

    4
« Close to the square?-No, On the square »

If you want to be close to the capital and restaurants within walking distance, with convenient parking, this one's for you. It's recently remodeled so now I pay for the valet parking and another 20%, but I think it's worth it

    5
« A great place to stay in Madison »

Was there over the weekend for a Badger game. It's a short walk to camp Randall from the hotel and very close to a night out on state street. Several great restaurants are just a short walk away. Our room was very spacious and very clean. This place definitely had to of had a recent remodel. You can't beat the valet parking for only $10 a night. Will definitely stay here again.

    2
    « Poor service »

The location and view were nice. We were there for a football game. One person refused to check us in because we were from the opposing team. The bartenders would not wait on us. we had to go up and get our drinks. When Wisconsin fans sat down they were served at their tables. There is no hot tube. The rooms were expensive for what you get.

    2
« Bring Your Own Toiletries and Coffee »

Bare Bones Amenities. Don't expect anything extra, which is disappointing for the price. Our room never got replenished with soap/shampoo or coffee/tea/ The lobby didn't offer any complimentary hot beverages or extras. Room was dirty had dark black stains on curtains and carpet.

    2
    « Disappointed »

I was placed on a floor of this hotel on which there was a late night wedding party and the noise made it impossible to sleep. Why was I put on this floor with all these revelers? Front desk at check out offered no compensation. Too bad for me for paying good money for this room. And the attitude apparently was: Sorry but nothing we can do.

    4
    « overnight stay »

Very nice clean rooms. Staff was very helpful Location was great. Walking distance from Capital and many shops Newly remodeled rooms and valet parking Location was easy to find and parking convenient for guests

« Best hotel in Madison, Wisconsin »

The Best Western Premier Park in Madison is an elegant business class hotel where you are made to feel like a king (or queen). The staff is extremely friendly and professional. The rooms are modern and tastefully decorated. The view of the Capital is breathtaking. I like going to Madison, I LOVE staying at the Park Hotel!

    5
    « Very Convenient »

Very convenient to stay. Near museums and the Capital building.Good food nearby. There is a steakhouse opposite to the hotel with good and cheap food. Rooms are big and convenient and clean. Front desk friendly.

    « Best Western, Madison »

Great hotel. Shocking it was a Best Western! Right near the Capital. Close to so much activity. We would stay there again if coming into Madison. Very friendly staff. Great food . We came for a wedding and they also put on a fabulous wedding reception. The food was outstanding.

    5
    « Girls getaway »

Such a beautiful hotel. Our room was very comfortable and clean. Our room was right across the Capitol. A hot tub would have been nice but otherwise very nice. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. Valet parking was great. We will definitely do this again.

    5
    « excellent stay »

Nice location. Close enough to walk anywhere near the Capital and State Street. Lot of eating options in area. Excellent place to stay! Small touches, made it seem like home! Front desk people very helpful and easy to talk to!! Would recommend this hotel to any one!

    5
« Best views of the Capital building »

I highly recommend this hotel when traveling to Madison. Upgrade to a room with a view of the capital, you won't be disappointed. The room was clean, the hotel was clean, and the employees were friendly and helpful. The hotel is in waling distance to much of the decent nightlife in the city.

    5
    « Very impressed. »

Stayed here over night just for one night. The place was very clean and fresh looking. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Only parking option was valet which was nice. Car was kept in a locked gated area. This hotel is right down on the capital square so close to state street and many restaurants, bars and shops. Drinks at the hotel bar were pricey but made well. The room was clean and comfortable. Great shower and everything you need right there. Very impressed with it all.

    5
    « Location + great service »

Best location in Madison directly across from capital bldg. All staff, from check-in to housekeeping, went out of their way to make your stay perfect. Management is doing a great job. Hotel is beautiful and looks recently renovated, actually brand new. Bed and pillows very comfortable and bathroom offers upper end shampoos, etc. Ckean, Spotless hotel next to a large number of restaurants, bars and State Street, which leads to university of WI. Highly recommend!

    5
    « Great Location »

If you are staying in downtown Madison, this hotel is in a great location. Close proximity to the Capitol, Farmers Markets and State Street. Luxurious rooms and friendly staff at check in. Hotels have the best toilets and shower fixtures, don't they?

    5
« Terrific downtown Madison hotel! »

Literally walk out the front door and you are across the street from the capitol building! Very nice high end hotel. Great attention to detail in the rooms. High quality decor. We only stayed one night, but would come back again. Super convenient location. When you check in you do so just inside the entrance to the parking garage - so protection from the elements! Parking is valet but only $10 day (plus tips, of corse!).

    « U of Wisconsin Visit »

My daughter arrived in the evening when is was dark and raining. The only parking option was the valet. I trusted this hotel with my brand new 2017 Cadillac. When I left the hotel I noticed a crack in my windshield and immediately called the hotel. No one called me back. I called again the next day to talk to a manager named Paul. Super nice and had me get an estimate to submit to insurance. Just had response that they are not covering it because their GPS did not track my damage. What a joke. Never trust their valets or their manages' word. I will never stay at or recommend this hotel again.

    5
    « Clean and courteous »

A group of friends stayed at BWP for Freakfest. The king suite was spacious, clean, and had beautiful window views. Our foldout sofa did not have blankets or pillows, but they were provided when requested. Front desk staff were very courteous, and when our room received a noise warning, we were treated fairly and with respect.

    4
« 'Great' Corner Room not so 'Great' »

Made a reservation with this hotel since the one we usually stay at was booked. This review is particular to a corner room we had. When we checked in the receptionist was really talking up this room like we were going to be in the penthouse. When you got off the elevator and walked to the room it literally was a door in the center of 3 rooms in a row. Think of a slice of pie and when you opened the door that was the point of the pie slice. The main room was shaped as a semi-circle and had windows across 90 degrees (unfortunately the view was just of other buildings in our case) and was a really nice size. Had a sofa, desk and a comfortable chair near the window. The problem with the room was the size of the bathroom. While the walk in shower was great, the rest of the bathroom was really small. there was really no counter space to place your toiletry bag on (think plain sink) and when you were trying to dry your hair your elbow was constantly hitting the wall to the point my wife was drying her hair in the hallway. The hallway closet could only fit about 4 items (i guess that is why the room safe was in the living room) Again this is all because of the pie shape as you walk into the room. The location was great right on Capital Square close to everything and they have a flat $10 a day parking (in and out as much as you want) They do have a indoor pool and a gym. The room we had was quite and did not hear any normal traffic. They do not offer any free breakfast or coffee (aside from the maker in the room). While I will book here again if needed my advice is to avoid that 'great' corner room.

    « best in madison »

In the pst over the years we have spent our time at a differant hotel we ended up here because our go to hotel was booked we have now found a new go to hotel in best western on the square. parking is simple and convenient

« Nice hotel and great location »

Check in and check out were fast and easy, and so was the shuttle to and from the airport. I used the fitness center which was tiny but was up early enough and there was only one other person in there. The room and bathroom were clean, which is really important to me. Overall it was a nice stay.

    4
    « Convenient Location »

I stayed at the Best Western Premier Park Hotel with a friend after we attended a show at the Overture Center (within comfortable walking distance). It was wonderful to walk out onto the square on a Saturday morning right into the farmers' market. The hotel was comfortable, quiet, and had all the amenities we needed. I appreciated that the valet parking was only $10 for those staying at the hotel.

    4
« Business Assignments in the Madison, WI area »

Very comfortable and quiet place to stay and ideal place to relax after a grueling day at work. Parking place could pose as a challenge because the hotel is valet parking only and you will need some time for your car to be driven out of their parking garage. Valet service attendants are quick and efficient and therefore it compensates for the parking challenge. Housekeeping and restaurant personnel are helpful. Some of the front desk personnel are personable and show a caring and accommodating attitude except for a few who are somewhat rude and unprofessional.

    5
    « Very Nice hotel »

Good Hotel, New renovation Clean and nice view, Capital view room is fantastic Bar and Restaurant on site Good location wonderful stay. Parking also very convenience valet aprking. I will be back to stay this hotel again. Good Hotel.

« September Stay in Madison Wisconsin »

The Inn on the Park is a very nice place to stay in downtown Madison. I recently spent 4 nights while I was at a conference and the staff is very personable and the room are nice. Nice location near the capital and great restaurants.

    3
    « over priced »

newly renovated hotel. across the street from the capital. room extremely small. back side of hotel so view of ally and roof top. Extremely over priced. nothing special about the hotel except for the location.

    5
    « Wonderful Hotel »

Very nice place to stay. Great location, awesome staff, great valet service. Clean rooms, modern décor, nice bathrooms, all around just great. All of the staff at the front desk, bar, and valet that I interacted with were courteous and helpful. The location right next to the capitol is great, good restaurant in the hotel, and a nice selection of restaurants around the area. Parking was $10/night, but includes valet service, which is very fast and the staff are very courteous. Room was immaculately cleaned each day, and very comfortable bed, décor, etc. This is the second time I have stayed in this hotel, and it was very enjoyable.

    4
    « Great Location »

Right on the capital square. Lots of restaurants and shops nearby. We were there Friday to Sunday and were large number of people (mainly college students) shopping, dining, partying, etc. The Saturday morning famer's market is superb. Visit the fourth floor of the capitol and view Madison from their outdoor sightseeing level. While the location is the main focus of this review, the rooms are comfortable; everything worked well. $10 for overnight valet parking in the hotel.

    5
« Great hotel in a fun city »

An updated, well appointed hotel right across from the capitol. Parking is very affordable, given it's in the heart of the city. Walking distance to just about anywhere you need to go. We really enjoyed it!

    5
    « Great Stay »

Excellent hotel! VERY comfortable room with really nice amenities. Staff is Excellent! Even helped recommend a late night pizza place after a long night at a wedding. Great onsite parking and the room was great! Only thing the room could use would be a mini-bar. I know that is a tiny complaint.

    5
    « Ironman Wisconsin stay »

As a Wisconsin Ironman participant, we wanted to stay near the capital, and couldn't have been happier with our room. Entire hotel was recently remodeled. Rooms were nicely decorated, functional, and had great view of capital. Was especially impressed with the promptness of valet service. Breakfast buffet was perfect. Friendly staff. Overall very satisfied with our stay.

    4
« Very Convenient Place to Stay in Madison »

Hotel is conveniently located across the street from the Capitol in downtown Madison. Rooms are clean and bright. Views of the Capitol are spectacular. Restaurant is good. Very convenient to other restaurants too. Wonderful room for wedding receptions, etc. on the 8th floor! Nice facilities.

    5
« Great stay for Ironman! »

Stayed for 6 days over the Ironman Wisconsin weekend, with 3 of us sharing a double-queen room. The valet parking was convenient and saved having to find parking. Checkin went very smoothly with friendly staff who were quick to offer up recreation and restaurant suggestions within the area. We found all staff in the hotel pleasant and friendly, and quick to offer to help out. The rates are a bit pricey, but you do pay for location. The room was good and clean, and the hotel was quiet, even over the weekend. Location was perfect for the Ironman event, as we could easily walk the bikes down for day-before turn in, and walk to the hotel right after the finish line. The hotel also had a good complimentary breakfast at 4:00am for the day of the Ironman event that offered a good variety of choices. There was also coin-op laundry facilities on the 3rd floor as well, which was handy over a six-day stay. Overall we had no complaints and had a great trip and enjoyable stay in Madison. Would definitely recommend to anyone travelling to the Ironman Wisconsin event in future.

« great hotel for Ironman Wisconsin »

excellent location, very quiet rooms, good amenities, excellent complimentary breakfast at 4:30am on ironman day. The check-in was very easy and the valet parking service was better than expected, made the check-in process quite easy despite all of my gear.

    4
    « Ironman Wisconsin »

Was there for the Ironman Wisconsin. Room are too small for 2 people. Our Room Maid was careless on taking care of us. No coffee replaced and no extra roll of toilet paper. Chet that checked us in was amazing! He mad our day if we got to see him. If he wasn't there we had the grumpy man!

    « Upgrade was a downgrade »

Stayed at the hotel on Sept 1, with another couple and honestly would have no complaints if we had stayed in the type of room that we reserved (a double queen). When we walked into our room there was one big glaring problem, one bed (and pull out sofa bed) for 2 couples. Called front desk and was advised that we were "upgraded" to a suite and that they would have to call back to see if they could fit us in elsewhere as it was a full weekend. We had a schedule to keep and needed to get going and did not have the time to wait on the chance that we would get the type of room we originally reserved. Advised the front desk that we would make it work. Not only were we disappointed that we were "upgraded" to a room that didn't have the adequate number of beds, but also in the offer (or lack there of) in compensation for Best Westerns mistake. The front desk offered to have someone come up and make the pull out sofa bed as our only form of compensation. I chuckled at that and kindly told her we'd take care of it. When I received the survey the day after our stay I completed the survey and expressed my dissatisfaction with the upgrade and also the lack of compensation for Best Westerns mistake. I have received no feedback from the comments on that survey either. Just extremely disappointed that Best Western hasn't offered anything (besides making our sofa bed) as compensation. When paying $260 for a hotel stay, my expectations are higher than this. Could've done better to fix the situation Best Western. If this is how you normally handle situations with your guests, I will gladly choose another of the many good quality hotel choices in Madison for my next stay.

    « Great Location »

Our one night stay was a really pleasant surprise. Our view of the Capital from our room was amazing. We happened to be there during the Taste of Madison which was happening right in front of the hotel which made its location super convenient. Good value for its location and pleasant rooms.

« Great hotel in great location »

This hotel is a gem.. Great for Epic customers wishing to enjoy the many restaurants and convenient bus to go to various malls nearby. This hotel is right next to the Capitol building and during the warmer months, there is the Saturday farmer's market to buy fresh cheese, rolls and vegetables. Near the university, library, etc..

I always stay at the Park when in Madison. They have a super staff and a great hotel. Right on the square and surrounded by great restaurants. They have great rooms at affordable prices all year round. Excellent value!

« Location, views and comfort »

My son and daughter-in-law celebrated their wedding at this Madison landmark. The views from the 8th floor are unsurpassed and the evening was remarkable. It was the perfect location for their reception as they had many guests from out of town and once at the hotel they could easily walk to several areas of interest; farmer's market, restaurants, coffee, State Street and the University of Madison campus beyond not to mention the wedding site~Monona Terrace. Despite being a local for the past 30 years, this was my first time on the 8th floor~I hope it won't be the last! My thanks go out to all who helped plan, serve and prepare the space for such a memorable occasion. As to the rooms, I have only a couple of suggestions; It would be nice if there was a magnifying mirror in the bathroom and the hair dryers should be upgraded. The toiletries were great and the bed was very comfortable. The fan tended to make a high pitched squealing noise when on, but, we solved that by turning it off. Perhaps a harder fix given the age of the building. It would be nice to have bottled water in the room as well. Had we not been preoccupied with wedding thoughts we could and should have brought water for the mini fridge that was provided. All in all, these minor things did not take away from our time spent at the Park Hotel and I would definitely recommend this venue for a wedding or special weekend in Madison.

« Business Trip or was it trap »

Air conditioner sounded like a jet and blew air in my face every 20 min. And shuttle service was a bust. Rooms are nice. But comfort is less than expected. I did not report my issues because I was out of the room a lot. But didnt sleep well at all when there.

Location, location, location! Phenomenal views and comfy accommodations. One is able to park your car at a very fair rate and enjoy multiple eateries and entertainment venues around the capitol. An Amazing farmer's market to indulge in fine cheeses, bee products, fresh produce right across the street.

    « Beautiful renovation »

I've always liked staying at this hotel- great location close to good restaurants and the Menona Terrace. Everything you need is within easy walking distance, especially the Saturday morning Farmer's Market on the Capitol square. The recent renovation makes this hotel spectacular- very nice and great value.

    « Hidden little Gem »

This is little discrete Premere Best Western is in the mix of everything but off to the side. Across the street from the Capitol, walking distance to all resturants and all other venues. Saturday morning farmers market us just steps away. Staff is friendly and cortious. Valet is less than parking garage. Rooms and hotel are clean and comfortable. Just a need little hotel discretly tucked away.

    « Great Hotel »

Great Staff! Beautiful view of state capital. Very quiet and close to a lot of great shops. I would recommend this for business or pleasure. The parking is good and valet service is very fast. I will go back.

« Capital location with a capitol view »

7 nights on 9th floor... worth the splurge and having valet parking downtown is very handy. Fantastic location for the Farmer's Market or for day trips. Beds exceptionally comfortable and the new showers (replacing tubs/showers) are spacious and modern.

    5
« Great place to stay »

Close proximity to local attractions and the university. Rooms are nice and well decorated. Comfortable and clean. Valet parking makes it easy to load and unload. The staff is very helpful. In room internet works well.

« The great facelift and a good value »

Madison's former Inn on the park has been completely redone and is now once again a viable destination for Travellers visiting this lovely City. The makeover has included all aspects of the property from the entry to the rooms. Prices are very reasonable and significantly lower than the other hotels on on or near the square.

    5
    « Fantastic stay »

Our room wasn't ready when we arrived so we were given complimentary beverage and appetizer while waiting. Beverage and appetizer (we chose the cheese curds) were excellent. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Would definitely stay here again.

« Great location in Madison »

A hotel with friendly staff in a great city centre location. Lots of good local restaurants and bars. A friendly city with lots to do without travelling too far (even walking distance). Pool is too small (and a little cool) for proper swimming.

    « BWP Time »

Nice hotel. Price was excessive. Loved the location. Next to the Capital. Exercise room was very limited. No hot tub. Seems like all hotels should have a hot tub. For the price, breakfast should be free.

    « A perfect business stay »

This hotel, for the price, is really excellent - and my goodness what a view! The staff are helpful and friendly, the rooms look like everything is brand new, and I couldn't fault a thing. From checking to checkout, everything was perfect - and did I mention the view?

« Great hotel, great location »

We stayed here 3 nights with some friends while visiting Madison this month. It is in a great location by the capital. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. There is a restaurant and bar on site, we didn't eat but the bar had very good drinks. The parking garage is valet only and they did a great job getting the car in and out when we needed it. I will stay here again next time we are in town and would recommend it to others.

    « Great Overnight Stay! »

The Internet was a little slow, as was the checkin process, but overall the stay was great. The remodel has really classed up the whole hotel. The room was large and well decorated. I would recommend! this hotel!

« Do you like camels? »

Booked a suite that turned out to smell like a camel's pen during our stay. 1 rude woman at check-in who would rather talk about her sister's pregnancy with her colleagues, than tell us where to find the nearest malls. We got two fingers pointing east and west telling us to go 4 miles...

    « Great stay! »

After a 20 hour air travel delay, I walked into BW Park-Madison as a tired mess! My King Suite was incredible: a corner room with curved windows and a 180 degree view, comfy bed, sofa, good tv and channels, beautiful bathroom and a full view of the State Capitol out my 7th floor window. It was just what I needed. Do not hesitate to stay here, the location is great, the valet personnel bring your car quickly as often as you go in/out, and everyone I came in contact with were friendly and helpful. I'd gotten this room last minute through Priceline and will look for it first when I come back to Madison,

    « Good Trip »

Very nice hotel near the capital and conference center. Very comfortable bed and had a green policy for linens that I like. Quiet. Most of the staff were very helpful but a couple were not so much so. No paper or complimentary breakfast and meals in the hotel restaurant were very expensive.

    5
    « Fantastic room »

We stayed here for a wedding. The room was fantastic. Beautifully appointed, quiet and comfortable. The bathroom shower was gorgeous with a sleek sliding glass door and beautiful tile work. Very attentive staff. The reception was held in their banquet hall. Cocktails and a brunch were held on the top floor, with a great view of the capital building and surrounding area. A wonderful experience.

« Beautiful hotel, convenient location »

This is the second time I've stayed at the Best Western Premier Park Hotel, both times for conferences taking place at the Monona Terrace. The hotel rooms are beautifully done, the staff is helpful, and it's been a quick and easy walk (less than 5 minutes) to Monona Terrace, the capitol, Starbucks, and several other dining options. I'd definitely recommend this hotel to fellow travelers.

    « I got a good place to stay »

Got a chance to come back to Madison, WI after 20 some years. Feel like I came home when I stay in this Best Western Hotel. I have to say I received the best service after I landed at the airport. The hotel complimentary shuttle was busy and they don't want me to wait so they paid for the taxi to get me to the hotel. They could easily say I am on my own. The location of hotel is very good. It is within walking distance to a lot of places that we need such as restaurants, the bars, the lake, parks and recreation areas. The most important of all is close to the place where I conducted a business. The hotel itself is very nice, the room is clean and very friendly people at reception desk. They have nice food and of course the bar. I like the way the bartender keep the Wisconsin traditional going is by making the best of Old Fashion Sweet Brandy. I have been around the country and no state yet to mix it good like Wisconsin people. The bar serve all kinds of beers but the only thing they don't have was Point beer (beer brew from Stevens Point, WI). Over all this hotel is good place to stay and it is worth of what I paid for. If I am back in Madison I will stay in this hotel again.

« Friday night in Madison »

This hotel is centrally located right across the street from the capital. Farmer's market on Saturday was a treat. Close to restaurants, bars and shops. The hotel was very clean, staff were great and the room was wonderful. Hope to stay here again!

    2
    « Uncomfortable beds »

Our bed was beyond uncomfortable. It was extremely hard and only had one light blanket. The couch was more comfortable than the bed! Needless to say we got very little sleep during our stay. If you like an extremely firm mattress then you may like this hotel. We, however, did not.

    4
    « Great Location »

We wanted a decent hotel near Capitol Square to attend the huge farmer's market in Madison. This hotel was above decent and a perfect location directly across from the Square. Never stayed at a Best Western before, but very good value and would stay at this one again and would consider other Park properties of the brand,

    « Beautiful Modern Hotel »

I totally recommend thus hotel to anyone staying in Madison. Perfect view of the Capitol with restaurants within walking distance. You can only valet your car but its only $10 for overnight. The staff is friendly and the decor is top notch. The only downside is no Jacuzzi/sauna by the pool.

    5
« Amazing Location, Spectacular Service »

The Park Hotel is fantastic! Staff are friendly and helpful and the location is right on the main square. Easy walking distance to downtown and convenient shuttle for trips to campus. I highly recommend this hotel if you are looking to stay in Madison.

    5
    « Perfect location »

Hotel is in down town Madison, right across from the state capital (went to the farmer's market and took a free tour of the capital). Lots of wonderful restaurants, bars, and some museums close by. They have a restaurant at the hotel if you don't want to walk. Enjoyed the swimming pool and they had a few treadmills, elipticals in the workout room. You have to valet park, price is only $10 per night, but it was a little bit of a pain waiting for your car if it was a busy time. Sat night had some drunk young folks in the sitting areas by elevator, thought it may get noisy but it didn't. Great place to stay! Perfect location if you want to visit Madison.

    5
« Close to downtown Madison »

Just across from the Capital Square, the Park was conveniently located for site seeing and enjoying the downtown vibe. The staff gave me great recommendations on food, and the shuttle service to the airport was very convenient. This is a great location for walking around Madison and seeing the lake. The Capital Building gave tours - very interesting. There was a jazz festival Friday evening, farmer's market and street fair Saturday morning, nearby museums and the lake, and many great restaurants. I look forward to visiting again.

« New look is nice but the best feature is still its location »

The hotel recently completed a major rehab. The rooms and public areas all look much nicer and refreshed. A few small items could have been done better. For example, previously the sink was outside the bathroom which I liked. Now the sink is in the bathroom. Also, the bathroom door is a sliding door which is fine except that it leaves a crack where it meets the door frame that you can see through. Also, the refrigerator used to have a small freezer which came in handy but ours did not. The new windows significantly reduce the noise level from outside which is greatly appreciated - this is a college town after all and can get quite loud.

    4
    « Great Location »

This hotel is in a great location, right in the center of town next to the capital. The room was very clean and updated. The only downfall was that some of the staff members were cold. There are great restaurants and shops within walking distance.

    5
    « Wonderful Stay »

A beautiful hotel with a caring staff, lovely rooms and great lounge/ bar area. The view from the 8th floor (booked for a bridal brunch) is fantastic and offered delicious food. We will be back again.

« Very nice hotel in Madison, WI »

Stayed at this hotel for a conference. Highly recommended! Not the cheapest one available, but it was a very good choice. No complimentary breakfast. Wifi worked very well. Next to the Capitol. Service at breakfast was kind of slow.

    3
« Room with a sort of view »

We were on the 6th floor. It was a convenient location but the view of the lake was only partial. We mostly could see a building under construction. My husband and I did not like having to have the car valeted. t made us second guess getting it out again because we didn't want to have to keep tipping the staff. We ended up walking every where. The room was super clean and quiet, but I wouldn't pay the extra money for the view.

    5
« Hip and on the Square »

I really enjoyed my stay at this Madison hotel. Its location on the square puts you in walking distance from restaurants, bars and coffee shops--and not far from the lakes. Rooms are comfortable and well appointed and nicely decorated. The fitness center is nice too--with skylights and with a view of the pool (vs. the closet-style rooms that many hotels call a fitness center). The bar/restaurant has a nice vibe, and my breakfast omelette was delish.

« Great value in downtown Madison »

This optimally located hotel is right on Madison square an easy stroll to State Street and in site of the city capital. Easy valet parking with in and out access. Fabulous on Saturday morning for the amazing farmers market.

    « No alarm clock? »

Stayed in a 1br King suite on the top floor. Excellent view overlooking the Capitol. Found it odd there was no clock in the entire place. Has to keep checking my phone when I needed the time. Not exactly suite caliber. The water took about 5 minutes to get from cold to hot in both the sink and shower. Bed was nice and comfortable. Location is ideal. Staff friendly and nice.

« Not at all what I was expecting (in a good way!) WOW! »

I was coming to Madison to meet with a local vendor, the vendor had made all travel arrangements. I've stayed in some really bad Best Westerns in the past so I was a little nervous that this one would hold a similarly poor experience. My prejudice against the brand proved to be so, so wrong !!! My colleague and I arrived around midnight and were very delightfully surprised by how beautiful, clean and comfortable this hotel was. I travel a LOT and I can honestly say this was not only the best Best Western I've ever stayed in but one of the best hotels I've stayed in recently (rivals some 4 star hotels I've stayed at within much larger cities with bigger price points!) Great location with beautiful views. Spacious rooms with very comfortable accommodations. Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely restaurant/bar on the bottom floor. Can't say enough about how nice the experience was.

    5
« Great hotel in downtown! »

This is a charming hotel across from the Capitol, right on the square. Great service, cute decor, and convenient access to many restaurants and shops. It's also just a five-minute walk to the convention center and the water.

    4
« Great access to farmers market »

We have chosen this hotel because it is adjacent to Capitol Square/ Dane County Market. It has been nicely renovated, rooms are very comfortable( some with great views), staff is efficient. Area construction does detract at this time.

    5
    « Great Hotel! »

This is the best hotel I have stayed at in a long time. The staff was courteous and knowledgeable. The room I was in was quiet and clean, the temperature was easy to control, and the internet was great! The hotel food was the best I can remember having. There is some major road reconstruction going on but when it is done it looks like the area will be great to walk around in the evenings.

    5
« Cozy stay; great location. »

Where better to stay in Madison than right on Capitol Square? With inexpensive valet parking, comfortable clean rooms, friendly staff, and a fantastic walk (or bike share) to anywhere location, I really can't think that we'd stay anywhere else when we make a trip north for a concert or a New Glarus beer run.

    3
    « Below expectations »

I had high hopes staying at the hotel formerly known as the Inn on the Park. I had heard much about the renovations and looked forward to our stay. Sadly, the renovations removed much of the character of this hotel and, in comparison with other hotels at a similar price point, it doesn't measure up in some respects. The biggest disappointment is the bar area. The Top of the Park was a great old bar that offered unbelievable views of the Capitol. Now, apparently, it's been converted into a ballroom/conference room space and instead the hotel bar has been moved to the ground floor. The current bar, however, is lacking in any sort of character and has the same anonymous decor as any other bar in any other town. And, unfortunately, it sits somewhat lower than the street, so one doesn't benefit from the view even though the hotel has a prime location on the Capitol Square. With so many other, better establishments at which to drink -- all located less than a block away, why would anyone waste their time and money in the hotel bar? Moreover, while the rooms are comfortable enough, they are small compared to more modern hotels. The staff were pleasant, but not necessarily the most efficient bunch you'll ever meet. Check-in seemed to take inordinately long and trying to get my car from valet or get some extra towels, again, took longer than one would expect. I travel to Madison a couple times a year and I think I'll look elsewhere next time.

    5
    « Pleasant Stay »

The hotel is newly remodeled and very nice. The staff was great - all very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for anyone wanting to be near the capital, the downtown area and the University of Wisconsin Madison is an easy 15-20 minute walk..

    « Update »

I wrote a review on this place in March. I decided last night to give it another chance. I am now staying tonight and tomorrow night. The issues I had were with service. Well, I must have been here on a bad night. Everyone has a bad night, and I suppose a hotel can also. Everyone at this hotel has been incredible this trip. This morning I told the girl at the front desk, thanks for being so nice to me. The hotel is perfect. Every single person I have been in contact with has been perfect. Thank you to everyone here. You will be the only place I stay while in Madison.

« Lovely, comfortable and convenient »

We stumbled upon this hotel at the last minute for a weekend getaway. It was great! The staff was super friendly and the location simply couldn't be beat, especially to hit the summer farmers' market. We easily walked almost everywhere, but when we did need our car, the valet was quick and courteous. We had a two room suite, which was great with our kids. We'll be back for sure!

Rooms were beautifully redone! Besides the construction going on around the capital it was a very nice place to stay . I would definitely recommend it to anyone going to Madison . Even checked out the spa next-door... very convenient to valet your car and shop around the square and Madison !

« My stay at Madison WI Best Western »

This was a very clean, comfortable hotel. My room was clean and nicely laid out. I didn't have all of the items I needed however they were well equipped with several items as a standard already in the room. My room was not suited for a family however I would definitely stay at this location if I am traveling alone. The only thing I would have liked was a continental breakfast and this hotel does not offer that.

    3
« Great location. Bad service. »

Newly remodeled but hallways too narrow. Staff not friendly especially valet guys!!! Room service delivery incorrect. Had constantly running toilet even though room was recently remodeled. Beautiful ballroom party experience. Brought home a roach in my luggage. :-(

« Two night stay in Madison »

The check in took a long time due to the valet being backed up quite a bit. In fact, the line of cars went down the street. The rooms were clean and updated well. Bed was ok. Hallway floors from the elevator to our room were never vacuumed during out two night stay and the same debris layer there the whole time. Not a bad stay but will probably go back to our old standby the Concourse Hotel.

Beautiful, well appointed hotel on the square with amazing views of the Capitol. Rooms were spacious, extremely clean, with beautiful amenities. The bathroom was gorgeous! « Accomodation was for the purpose of attendance at a Conference in another location »

The location of the hotel suited the needs for a combination of business and recreation. The facilities for use of the elevators left much to be desired when groups of people, other than residents, used the facilities.

    « Great Location in Mad-town »

We stayed here for a family wedding. Staff was extremely responsive, courteous and funny too. Hotel has been recently remodeled - tastefully done. Beds were hard as a rock, but the room was fairly roomy for our family of 4. Location is literally in the middle of town across from the state capitol building. Great to access restaurants/bars and shopping, but street noise was very noticeable.

« Too expensive, bad service »

You could get better service forhalf of the price you pay for this hotel, you pay $200+ per night and breakfast is not even included, the room I stayed in had a very strong smell, I still dont know what it was but I think it was the carpet. It takes 10 minutes to get your car if you want to go somewhere so you better start early because you will be waiting that long for someone to bring your car to you. The staff will talk over you and they dont recognize the vertue of listning. Nothing special about this hotel to pay that much for your stay.

    5
« Definitely Recommend this Hotel!! »

This hotel is a great location right on the square. The staff is very outgoing. From the minute you get to the hotel you are welcomed by the friendly bellman and on to the front desk clerk. If you are here on business or pleasure make sure to check out this great hotel right in the heart of Madison, Wisconsin.

    « Great stop over »

Great stop over and right dead in the center of down town the staff was friendly. There is so much to do in the surrounding area you really can not go wrong we were there for a anniversary party and there was nothing that was not in walking distance. The hotel itself if very well kept and up to date the rooms are a bit small but very well organized .

« Don't do Valet and room design »

Didn't have appropriate choice, valet was mandatory. Fitness center was lacking basics, room was so narrow that I couldn't fit the luggage cart and myself in it at the same time. There was a building across the flat roof with rooms overlooking mine. The shower door did not stay shut all the way. The staff was excellent.

    5
    « Great everything! »

Everything was great, Beds were hard and that is the one and only complaint. Service was great, very clean, very helpful staff. Perfect location if you need to be downtown. Valet is quick and very helpful. Cant think of anything negative to say. Very nice hotel and staff.

« The old Inn at the Park has really updated well! »

I haven't stayed here for a few years and frankly it had become a little run down. However, the updated version is amazing. Rooms are beautifully done with all the amenities. Coffee is Starbucks. Beds (with four pillows) are comfy. Service was outstanding. Even with road construction right in front of the hotel, they led us individually through the construction into the valet parking with no problems. Restaurant had a small but varied dinner menu. What a great place to stay on the Capitol Square. Highly recommend!

    4
    « Valet Services »

« Clean, nice, good views. »

Got a larger room. Paid extra for a view. Unforutanely the view was not of the capital building but a small portion of the lake. Still a nice room. 2 room with 2 queen beds. couch and easy chair were all very comfortable. Had to walk a ways for the ice but not to bad. Parking was easy and fast. Lots of construction going on around the building be did not cause a problem.

    5
    « Comfortable and New »

Very clean and updated room located right on the Madison Square with convenient access to downtown Madison locations. Parking is an additional cost but is reasonable and is all valet. Rooms include a refrigerator and microwave.

    « Attended a wedding reception & stayed overnight - excellent »

While the hotel is excellent, when we arrived to check in, just prior to the wedding reception, there was only 1 valet parker on duty & the line of cars to get into the parking area wrapped almost around the square, which was 3/4 under road construction, leaving no choice except to idle in place. Eventually a manager noticed the backup, started taking the parkers in 2 lanes and more valets were recruited to park cars.

    2
    « Great Location - Terrible Service »

Here's what's good: you can't beat the location and the room was nice and quiet. And the bad: THE SERVICE! To start, the parking system is the worst. It's all valet with no self park option. When we checked in we were told it's staffed around the clock and there's unlimited in and out. What they failed to mention is that they're gonna charge you $10 every time they get your car for you. We didn't know that until we saw the bill on check out. We returned to the hotel on Saturday afternoon around 5:00 and we had to wait in a line of cars on the street over 20 minutes just to drop off the car for one of those special $10 park jobs. While we were waiting I called the front desk to ask why we couldn't park our car and get to our fairly expensive room. The young lady replied that they were backed up because they had two weddings. Ya, I get that it's backed up. She said "it's unfortunate", to which I replied that it's so unfortunate that we would never stay there again. She could not have possibly cared any less. We happened to be in town on a very unseasonably cold weekend, and the room was cold the entire time. When we arrived I bumped up the thermostat to 80° but the room only heated up to 71° the entire stay. We slept with sweat shirts on. And "The Post" restaurant...pathetic! We made the mistake of eating there Saturday night. There were a lot of wedding folks in there drinking and the place was clearly understaffed. Our waiter was an old guy who seemed to be the only one moving fast. My partner ordered a chicken wrap that sounded good on the menu. When it arrived it was an unseasoned grilled chicken breast, wrapped in romaine lettuce, wrapped in a tortilla. That was it. None of the cheese or anything else in the menu description. I decided I would give my feedback on check out. This young lady never said the expected "how was your stay". I have to imagine that after working there for any length of time she just didn't want to hear the complaints. Do yourself a favor, walk a little farther and stay at any of the other hotels near the square.

« Great Hotel in good location »

Not much to say other than the hotel is in great shape, its walking distance to many things to do and places to eat, and the room was comfortable. Only disappointment is there is no hot tub in the pool area.

Great hotel. Easy to walk to lake which has a great walking trail and bike trail. It is located across the street from Wisconsin Capital Building. We also enjoyed walking and shopping on State street. The room has a coffee maker, hair dryer and refrigerator. The bed was very comfortable.

« Fun weekend in Madison WI »

We had a wonderful extended weekend at the Best Western Premier Park Hotel. The hotel is lovely and the staff is exceptional. We visited the State Capitol building and museums, along with several restaurants, all within walking distance. I wish we had a few more days and plan on returning at some point.

    « Very Nice »

The hotel has done some renovations since the last time we stayed. Very nicely done. LOVE the new bar area. So much brighter! Rooms were very nice and the view of the lake was great! The valet buys were great with our truck and held our bags when our room wasn't quite ready. I will say, please get more bartenders during your busy hours. They were working hard but, there should have been at least 2, if not 3, working.

Great experience! Very new hotel rooms with great layouts. Very friendly staff. Valet parking seemed to be required, but valets were very quick bringing the car around. The bar was very large and had an average selection of liquor/beer.

This was our first stay at the BW Premier Park Hotel. I am very happy to report that everything was excellent!! Friendly main desk staff- professional, courteous, helpful. The valet guys were also friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean, quiet and beautiful, obviously recently remodeled. Thanks to all who helped make our stay here a memorable one!

« Great Place, Perfect Location, A few bugs to work out. »

Overall excellent experience, great staff the is very helpful and professional. Newly refurbished and they did a great job. Couple of little things. Needed to call and get advice from a service tech to get connected to the internet. Should not need to do this. TV did not work at all. Wasn't a big deal for me, I just listen to the news in the morning while getting ready for the day. They are clearly focused on saving water, the water pressure was so low that it took much longer than normal to take a shower. That was probably the biggest issue I had. But generally a great place in a perfect location next to the State Capitol. I'm sure they will have the renovation related bugs worked out quickly.

    « A Nice Surprise »

This hotel has been totally renovated from the front lobby and lounge to the rooms and baths. Very pleasant surprise and all very nicely done. I love the long extended bath vanity and the tiled shower. I had a deluxe room and the size of the room and view of the Capital building was awesome. Very NICE!

« Chet is the best!!! »

I am in town from Seattle, WA for business at Epic. I have been in town before a few times in the past year for this same reason but stayed at the concourse due to my company recommending it. I am so happy I took the chance at staying here. The hotel is beautiful since renovation and the service is wonderful. From the moment I called at the airport I spoke with Chet at the front desk and he was so incredibly professional and customer service driven. What a breath of fresh air he is. Someone give that man a raise. I was a front desk manager for the Westin in my home town years ago, so I know customer service. Honestly, he made my stay. I will be booking again for may instead of the Concourse. Thank you Chet for being so accommodating. I look forward to my next trip. The one thing I wish this hotel had was a shuttle at noon back to the hotel from epic. But it's not a deal breaker. Thanks again .

    « Girls weekend Minneapols/Wisconsin »

We stayed here March 31 - April 2 2017. The hotel is very clean, updated, etc. Our room was spacious, it had a microwave, mini fridge, tv. We had the view of the Capitol which was great. There is complimentary coffee until 7am, then the restaurant opens. The people in the restaurant were very friendly. You can park your car (valet) for $10 per day. In and out unlimited. There was one man behind the reception desk who was a bit stand-off-ish, but the other staff were friendly. Our room was pretty big. Bathroom was clean. They have delicious fruited water complimentary. I would recommend the hotel. It's nice.

« When you go back... »

While living in Madison Wisconsin, home of the UW-Madison and the state's capital, I never needed to stay in a hotel, and even when I visited, friends generously urged me to crash at their place. So when I needed a place to stay recently for a Badger football game, I decided to stay on the Capital Square at the Best Western Premier Park Hotel, the Inn on the Park, back in the day. In addition to being a convenient location for State Street, both Lakes Mendota and Monona, Madison's bountiful bike paths, coffee bars galore, a variety of restaurants and vintage bars...the list could go on; and for my brief visit, it was perfect. I parked and walked everywhere, the hotel's attitude for service was quietly responsive without being overdone, the bed was comfy and didn't aggravate my bad back, and the State Capital was impressive, constantly staring at me just outside my balcony window. Since there's a better than good possibility I will be back more often now, it's good know about this property, should I ever need similar amenities.

« Amazing piece of history! »

The new renovation of this hotel is just lovely - it is in the heart of downtown and has been restored beautifully. Great lengths were taken to honor the history of the building and the reason we love Madison Beautifully done - Bravo!

« Not bad for a Best Western, but they just can't seem to get it all together »

Hotel was pretty nice, parking was convenient, although even though it was 10 feet to the car, I had to have the Valet pull it in/out. Our first room was OK, looked over a roof, the electrical had problems and they moved us to a suite. Which had a lovely view of the capital and was nice, but the window was broken, the towel rod was broken and our room was never cleaned. We asked the concierge a simple question about running paths (two blocks away), they knew nothing. They didn't know if the farmer's market was going on either. They seemed to know much less about anything than I did, but they were quite pleasant. For the record, it was a football weekend, and they really gouge you for it. All that being said, the hotel was quite nice, not 4*, plastic drinking cups, no real concierge ... But a nice stay on the square.

    5
    « pleasant stay »

It was a great choice for a place to stay near the Capital for our annual conference. Clean, comfortable rooms with friendly staff. Wish we could have have a window facing the Capital but I understand every room can't face that way. LOL

« Reservation Error- Management Unsympathetic and Nonresponsive »

I called to see if rooms were available for a popular weekend. I stayed here before and had a good experience but do remember rude employees at check in. The were rate quoted me was a cheaper rate than another hotel, so I canceled my existing reservations and made new ones. The reservationist got the month wrong - so the hotel charged me for three rooms as a "no show". Upon my request, they did refund my money ("as a courtesy"!) but could only rebook me at a significantly higher price. I complained that this was unacceptable and was unhappy with their response. I asked to speak to the reservation manager - she did not call me back at first. After speaking to her, I asked to speak to the GM, who did not return my call at all. I called Best Western Corporate twice. They indicated that management was contacted and that GM should have responded. Poor service, poor response. Luckily I found other rooms. I would not recommend this hotel based on their response and the impolite representatives I did have the opportunity to talk to.

    4
« Great location, friendly staff »

The room I shared with a fellow conference attendee was quite large and faced the Capital. I was NOT a fan of the half-sized pillows. While you get four, and can surely find one to your liking, I have no need for four pillows. One or two regular-sized would have been much preferred. And unfortunately, Friday night was Homecoming and the college kids were LOUD until around 1 am.

    « Visit from Nebraska »

Great hotel. Clean. Lounge served only a few drinks and their menu in their restaurant only a had a couple items. Ended up not eating their because their was no simple food choices. Very quiet. Never heard anyone walking around on our floor. Housekeeping was very quiet as well. Nice location right next to the capital. Woke up Saturday to a very large farmers market which was fun to go walk around. Close to state street with lots of shopping and restaurants and bars. Came to Madison for a football game. It was a couple mile walk to the college stadium but not bad. Would choose this hotel again if we ever come back for a football game.

    « Crabby Check-in Staff »

Other than the attitudinal young lady at check-in this was a good stay. The new remodel is beautiful. Staff- very stale and cold with the exception of the lounge staff. Always good to stay close to the conference I attended. We might come back next year, but the price hike to pay for the new remodel might deter us. It was a bit high priced.

    5
« Great location. Great rooms. Great service. »

This hotel has it all - great location, great staff, clean rooms, on site parking, and an airport shuttle. I stayed here for a conference located just a couple blocks away and within easy walking distance. This hotel has been updated and the furnishings upgraded. Common areas and private rooms were immaculate. Staff was friendly and very knowledgeable of the area and businesses. Highly recommend.

« Best on the Square »

Lovely accommodations, helpful staff, clean, quiet rooms. Nice to have a restaurant and bar/lounge available on site. Breakfast always a plus, hot or cold. We came for the weekend and enjoyed the Farmer's Market - so wonderful with the fresh produce. In the evening we enjoyed dinner at the TIPSY COW. It was only a short walk from the hotel. A fall trip with great friends. We all enjoyed the good weather and great color.

« Pros and Cons to The Hotel »

We've stayed at several hotels in Madison over the years and wound up at this one when we needed a late booking for the Ohio State Game earlier this month. There are some pros and cons, which I will try too summarize: The Pros -- located right on the Capital Square. Farmers Market is literally right outside your door. Many good restaurants within easy walking distance and we even walked to Camp Randall and back for the game. Hotel seemed very clean, and had recently been renovated. Our kids shared a queen room with two beds that was fairly spacious with a nice large bathroom and new shower. Elevators were quick and we did not run into the problem we ran into many other places that the elevators were always so full you could not get on them! Nice (but pricey!!!) restaurant on the premises, which served good beer too and was not at all crowded. The Cons -- WiFI was horrible to the point of being unusable. It went off every couple of minutes for twice that time. This made all of us miserable! It's a small thing, Best Western, make it work right or it's a deal breaker! Also, room my husband I shared was tiny and dark with one very small window overlooking a roof surrounded on three sides by taller buildings. It was like being in a tiny cave. There was a small desk with a small chair but otherwise no place tonsitbother than the bed. Bathroom was petite, closet was tiny. Hated the room.mvalet parking was efficient but very expensive. Overall, if I were headed out here and needed a place to stay, I would try the Doubletree or the new Hampton Inn, but if both were booked I would come here. Location is more than half decent and at least some of the rooms are nice and spacious, but they would have to promise me the wifi has been upgraded first!

    « Capitol's Best »

If you want an excellent downtown Capitol experience you must stay at Best Western Premier Park Hotel, Madison. Request one of their rooms with view of the capitol. The view was breath taking and best way to start our 2 week tour of Wisconsin & Minnesota. This was the best view of all our BW trip stays!

« Recent stay at Madison Best Western »

Beautifully remodeled, right downtown with great staff, available reasonable parking. It will be better when full restaurant opens on the premises. In walking distance to many restaurants, theaters and the UW campus, as well as Lake Monona and Lake Mendota where there are biking trails.

    « Great service, location »

This hotel is in an excellent location - across the street from the state house, right by lots of restaurants, bars, Saturday morning farmers' market and about 1.5 miles from the university of Wisconsin stadium(a walkable distance past cool shops). The service in the restaurant/bar, front desk, and room (maids) was excellent! Our bed was so comfortable! I would definitely stay there again !

« A really nice hotel right on the government square. »

I look for cleanliness, friendliness, and convenience. The Park Hotel has it all. Step out the door and you are a 5 minute walk from a variety of restaurants and bars. And the capital square that it is located on hosts the largest farmers' market I have ever seen. Rooms are quite nice and the breakfast bar is far better than the standard make-your-own-waffle establishments. The only drawback is that it is easy to miss the valet parking as it is in the garage of the hotel. As you travel around the square, it is to the right of the main entrance. Miss it and you'll have to make the loop. Great hotel.

    5
    « Very comfortable stay »

This hotel was very comfortable with excellent beds which always make a difference when traveling. The location was excellent as many restaurants and shops were within walking distance. If you stay here, walk the block and a half and try the hamburgers a Dlux - best burger I've ever had.

« Nice Place, Valet Parking Only »

Nice hotel within walking distance to the Capitol and many other attractions. Comfortable room with nice amenities. We stayed in a room with patio doors that opened to the indoor pool area and easy access to the fitness center. The restaurant was just in the process of opening so we were pleasantly surprised to be have a complimentary breakfast buffet. Valet parking only, which made it quite convenient and secure.

« Spacious, friendly, great location for Capitol »

Recently there on business. Clean, spacious rooms with lovely bathroom with a large walk-in shower. Complimentary hot buffet breakfast had goo variety and had options that were GF. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Bar staff pour a good gin martini. Airport shuttle service available too. Hassle free and comfortable hotel located with a magnificent view of the Capitol.

    « Wow, what a beautiful remodel »

I was anxious to check out the newly remodeled Best Western Inn On The Park Hotel, now called the Park Hotel. I was floored by the fantastic job they have done. The interior and exterior of the property is top notch. Rooms are tastefully decorated with warm cozy color schemes and beautiful bathrooms. Same for the common areas of the property. It's a nice blend of modern and classic. Too many hotels that undergo renovations all have the same ultra-modern sterile look. This place did it right. Warm and cozy and hip at the same time. The location is perfect for all that Madison has to offer. restaurants, music, the capital all at your finger tips. What a gem. I had the opportunity to meet the general manager and compliment him and the staff on a job well done. I highly recommend this hotel and be sure to stop in the longe and have a cocktail with the ever wonderful Heather. Madison at it's best awaits you.

« Remodelled and clean, best location, a bit cheaper than Madison Concourse »

Right on the Madison State House Park, better location, and cheaper than the Madison Concourse. Just remodeled, clean, efficient. If you're travelling to Epic, there's a free shuttle, which gets there in less than an hour, often less than 45 minutes in the morning.

« went for live performance »

location is great for getting around all the great points to see in Madison. By the capital. And half a block to State Street. The hotel has just been renovated. And they did a great job. Car valet is nice touch, when trying to park in downtown Madison.

    4
« Very nice hotel with a great Capital view »

Everything in this hotel was great, from the valet, reception, room, bathroom. The only negative thing I have to say is the bed as just a bit too firm for my taste, and the pillows were horrible. They were small, square ones and very thin. The view from the window to the capital was great. And you are right downtown with all of the museums, bars, and restaurants. This was my first trip to Madison, and it has a very nice downtown area.

    5
    « Beautiful Remodel »

The hotel did a great job on the remodel. All the rooms have been given a face lift as well as the lobby and restaurant. Looking forward to restaurant opening for dinner with a hiring of a renowned chef. Lovely location across the street from the Capitol. Top notch restaurants and bars all within walking distance. Close to the Orpheum and Performing Arts center as well.

    « Premier Hotel »

First it should be noted that the name has changed to Park Hotel. This is located directly across from the Capitol building & has valet parking. Very nice bar area, clean rooms with wifi, frig, safe, the usual amenitoes. Everything about this place says clean & neat. The complimentary breakfast was an awesome buffet style with lots of hot & cold choices. Location is so convenient to everything in Madison & since we were there for a wedding, we just parked the car Friday, walked the 8/10ths of a mile to the church & spent all our time in that Capitol area. Bonus-we were there for the Saturday Dane County Farmer's Market which goes all around the square & across the street in many spots. All Wisconsin crops, bakery goods, etc....excellent farmer's market!

    « Perfect Location »

This was my second trip to Madison for work. Last year I stayed at The Edgewater (amazing place!) so I was little leery about a Best Western name for this hotel. When I arrived I definitely stood corrected! I was told the place had been remodeled; the entryway was beautiful, right down to the chandeliers, the rooms were very nice as well. Mine faced the Capitol building so it was quite a site each evening. The room was clean and spacious. There was an odd buzzing sound but I soon figured out it was the a/c. It wasn't too bad compared to other a/c units I've heard. The location of the hotel compared to stores, restaurants, etc. was great! We didn't mind the walk and it was about a half mile to State Street I believe. On Saturday there was a huge farmers' market right outside the hotel - truly amazing! Even though our partner company paid for our stay I would gladly stay here again using my own money. :)

    4
« Great Value and Newly Remodeled »

I stayed here for a trade show but came in a couple days early with my wife to enjoy Madison. The location is excellent, across the street from the Capitol building (tour it, it's worth it) and walking distance to Collectivo, Starbucks and many local restaurants offering everything from burgers to sushi. If you're in town for a show at Monona Terrace, it's about a 3-4 block walk and well worth not having to find parking in the area.

    3
    « Epic travelers beware! »

I stayed here to attend training at Epic because I liked the location on Capitol Square, and the hotel offered a shuttle to Epic's campus. I expected some cost associated with the shuttle, but I didn't expect a $50 per day charge. I could have requested an Uber to take me to Epic and back for cheaper, and I wouldn't have had to leave the hotel at 7:00 AM. Other hotels in the area that offer shuttles are the Concourse ($10 per day) and The Graduate (free). I was very disappointed with the exorbitant shuttle cost and would not return to this hotel as long as it remains that high. The rest of my experience was pleasant; they did a great job with the remodel.

This was the perfect place to stay for a weekend getaway to Madison! Convenient location to do many things down town including farmers market and Taste of Madison on the Capitol Square. « Even Better Following Renovation »

I've been staying at the Inn on the Park wen in town for Ironman Wisconsin for almost a decade. The location, just off Capitol square, is great. Service has always been superb. My one complaint, that the rooms were getting a little threadbare, is no longer the case. With the renovation the accommodations now match the location and service. Highly recommended.

Just finished staying at the hotel over Labor Day weekend. We were on a 40 year anniversary bucket list tour. We have stayed many times before but not since the renovation of the rooms. WOW great style and accommodations change! We will definitely be back when restaurant is complete. Love the great location because we go up for the market(right outside front door)shopping, restaurants and things to do.

    « Watch on-line bookings »

I booked a reduced rate room on-line. Upon arrival, I was told the rate was not available. Make sure to get confirmation of your reduced rate if you book on-line. Otherwise, you may find yourself in my situation with no other options and needing to book and expensive rate upon arrival.

The BW Inn on the Park has undergone and is undergoing a renovation and the rooms are fantastic. It is centrally located and the staff is excellent. Fitness room could use some free weights but aside from that, it's a great place to stay for biz or pleasure in Madison.

Ditch the car and enjoy downtown Madison Wi. You are right on the square and a walk down the pedestrian mall of State Street to the UW campus.....Farmer's Market during the summer, free concerts on UW Union Terrace. Great bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. The only place to stay in Madison. Plus a nice indoor swimming pool and great view of the isthmus, both lakes or the Capitol square.

    « Attending Conference »

I like the location.. The conference is not too far to walk. It is a little more than a third of a mile. You can almost walk anywhere and you don't need the car. Many restaurants are nearby. The breakfast at the hotel is great.. ( and it is free). The caption was fair. ( because of cheap TV resulted poor captioning). The price was very reasonable. I would go back there again.

    « bad and good »

Scenery from my window was another building, Room was too cold and took awhile to heat up once I turned up thermostat, and bathroom door wouldn't shut. Beautiful room and lots of channels on tv, clean, had a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee pot, plenty of pillows on the bed and good Pokémon location. Outside the hotel was across street from capitol and during a walk near by I saw a fountain rooftop that looked out into beautiful water. Lots of shops nearby. I told them about troubles with my room during checkout.

« very nice rooms, great location »

I very much enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The facade is still undergoing renovation, but the interior is very nice. Rooms are spacious, modern and clean. A very good bed, and very nice bathroom. The gym has high-quality equipment (mainly cardio). The 'Plus' in Best Western Plus is very well deserved. The location is very nice, right at the impressive Wisconsin State Capitol building in the heart of Madison. I would most certainly consider staying here again.

    « Excellent remodeled rooms »

I was there for 2 week training. I really enjoyed the remodeled rooms, they were spacious and the Capitol view was fantastic. The pool and fitness area were also great.Although the restaurant was not open yet, it looks that it will have great potential. Paul Podehl provided me and my coworkers excellent customer service, he went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care off and had everything we needed. He is an example to follow by all other staff at the hotel that were not as nice as him. If it wasn't for the other staff that were not very helpful I would give a higher service rate. My room was not clean properly on a daily basis, so I had to call the front desk. But other than that, it was a great stay.

    « Lovey Hotel! »

I don't often think about the Best Western brand, but after this experience I will definitely consider them in the future. This property is newly renovated and lovely. The room was lovely and very comfortable. Bathroom was beautiful, with a huge shower. Although the sink could be a bit larger. Amazing location across the street from the Capitol.

    « Wonderful Hotel »

I booked this hotel not knowing its history. Very impressed. Nice, clean and comfortable rooms. The front desk staff needs to be a little more friendly. (SMILE!) :) I work in the business too, and I know it can be tiring, especially after a long day. Anyway, I had a great stay! I highly recommended.

    « Wonderful and beyound »

Best western came through in helping accommodate my group for a wedding. We had an extra person tag a long and it was wonderful that they were able to upgrade us to fit our needs. The room was better than the expensive hotel I stayed at in Vegas.

    « Wonderful experience »

The hotel is right in front of the Capitol, absolutely gorgeous sight. Walking distance from the very popular and super exciting State Street. Whether it's a street market you're looking for, a great restaurant or just to listen to the locals jamming at the corner of this street. It is perfect for the whole family. The staff, very welcoming and always very helpful. They have free shuttles to and from the airport and a very pleasant ride with their staff, absolutely an awesome experience, not one glitch :)

« Not your typical Best Western »

When I heard the wedding reception was being held at a Best Western, I was worried, but this is not your typical Best Western. Once the renovations are complete, it would be my first choice in Madison for its location and views. You must ask for a room with a view. My first room was nice but with a drab view of the roof and rear. I asked for (and paid for) an upgrade to an amazing room on the rounded corner with a spectacular view of the capitol and the lake. The room had great amenities, including refrigerator and coffee. The bathroom was large with nice toiletries. The air conditioning could have been better, but hoping that was part of the renovation fixes. The staff were all very nice and accommodating, though there was a fail when I called for the free airport shuttle. They said they'd be there in 20 minutes but when I called back after 30 they had no record of my call. They had me take a taxi that they paid for, but it wasn't a good start. Still, the free return shuttle was a bonus. Walking distance to many restaurants, and the Saturday farmers market was terrific. I was delightfully surprised by my stay.

« Realxing trip to Madison »

The hotel is under construction, however with that being said, it was beautiful, and when it is finished it will be breathtaking. The pillows were incredible, the bed was comfy, we got bumped up to a lake view room which was nice. The shower was so nice, I could have stayed there all day! The pocket door for the bathroom was the only dislike-it doesn't close all the way. The valet service was excellent, front desk help was too. I would stay there again.

« Excellent Location, Friendly Staff »

I have taken to staying at the Inn on the Park every year for IM Wisconsin since 2008. The staff is very friendly and the location, right on capitol square, cannot be beat. The bathrooms can be a little small and the rooms are a bit dated. A big caveat, however, is they were ramping up to begin a major renovation after last year's race. Cannot wait to visit to see what is in store this year.

« Currently under construction but renovation promising »

We attended a wedding on the 8th floor. Right now there is no real entry as everything is under construction. However the 8th floor were we attended a wedding reception is completed and it was very nice. Wonderful view and great area for a wedding with 100-150 guests.

« Very pricey, small bathrooms »

The hotel was under construction and the main floor lobby and restaurant were closed and a temporary lobby was established. The pool and fitness area were also closed. When I reserved this room no one mentioned the construction and the closure of the facilities. The sales staff were friendly and I was accommodated slightly for the inconvenience by asking for free parking. The daily fee is $10. I realize this was during the huge college graduation weekend, but $225 a night plus the additional 15% in state and city taxes is ridiculous. I understand location is key and their location is great, but certainly not that great! Also, the rooms were very nicely remodeled but the bathrooms are way too small without any counter top space, no tub but very nice tile shower. Not worth the price unless someone else is paying i.e. business trip.

« This hotel will be gorgeous in June »

This hotel is currently under construction. They really worked hard to keep the inconvenience to a minimum. I have stayed here prior to construction and it was nice, but this hotel will gorgeous once finished. I had a capital view, amazing. Amazing food all around, college right down the way. Madison is wonderful.

« A good hotel experience that met my needs »

I knew going in that the hotel was still undergoing extreme renovations. The hotel did send me a detailed email the week prior to check-in. The shuttle from the airport was helpful. The check-in process was easy. Only one available elevator (due to construction) was not too speedy, especially at peak times. My room was renovated and nice. Very quiet. My only complaint was low water pressure in the shower but my room seemed to be the exception on this when compared to my travel companions. My review may have been different if not for quite a bit being closed due to construction (pool, restaurant, bar). I love the location of this hotel and will definitely give it another try in the future.

« Cost of one night at the Best Western Plus Inn on the Park in Madison, WI »

The terrible high cost of $999.00 per night at this Best Western Plus Inn on the Park. Can not believe it. We have stayed a few times and did not and NEVER pay $999.00 per night at this hotel. Not ever worth it. The rooms were okay, never seen many workers around this hotel no matter what time you were there. Restaurant workers were just okay. Still can not believe that people would ever pay $999.00 a night. I am retired and can sure put this amount of money towards many more beautiful places to stay a night. This is so terrible that they can get away with this. Sure would like to know who to contact to complain about this, but sure it would not do any good. Again, terrible price to charge for one night to stay at this hotel. Never would again......

« Clean rooms and nice staff »

Stayed here last summer for a conference in town and got 2 rooms. I had students in 1 one room and myself in the other. The students said their room was nice (I only saw it from the door) but they had a nice suite with a room and a lounge area with a pull out couch. I was told the pull out couches mattress was terrible, but the rest was fine. My room was a typical room, but nice and clean. The staff was attentive and happy to help us. Traveling for business, it was nice that they had a shuttle to and from the airport and there was luggage check that we were able to use when we checked out the morning of our flight - We were able to check everything then go to the conference and come back after and pick up our stuff and catch the shuttle.

    « A great location and a step back in the 1980s »

This is a very strange hotel and it is quite hard to write a coherent review because it has great aspects and pretty odd ones. Let me start with the great. The location is ideal for the first time Madison visitor that I was: literally on Capitol square in the middle of it all, a minute walk from State street, quite close to the University, and of course Capitol Square is home to the wonderful Farmer's market (except during winter months). Basic rooms do not have a view, but if you buy one of the more expensive ones, views of the lake or Capitol are lovely. This is what I bought and as I value a view and woke up very early every morning, I was very glad I did even though there was roadwork and façade work in front of my room when I was there which was occasionally less than pleasant. Work also meant no swimming pool (I believe that there is one normally) and a slightly awkward approach to the hotel from the street. A third great thing is that the hotel offers complementary shuttle to/from the airport. It is slightly awkward when you arrive (you need to call them when you have your luggage, then you wait outside for about 20 minutes and they come) but easy to book on the return. Beyond those lovely sides which should be enough to make the hotel a wonderful place to stay, the most striking thing is how it reminded me of large US chain hotels in the 1980s! The décor of the common parts as well as the room is very dated (think improbably carpet colours, dark woods, dark everything), the food is dated (think steaks with a tonne of fried onions and salad with blue cheese dressing) and the long corridors make the hotel strangely feel bigger and more impersonal than it is, because in fact, staff is pleasant and helpful and quite personable. With that in mind, and if one expects a fair, solid, and extremely well located 3/3.5* hotel, this is certainly a good choice and I would have no hesitation to return to it for my next visit to Madison, if only for the pleasure of stepping out to the Saturday farmer's market and the chance of nice views.

    « Good Location »

For now, the only reason to return to this hotel is that it is close to the State Capitol and UW-Madison. The construction made getting in and out of the parking ramp a little difficult. There was a problem with our reservation, and to be fair, the man at the front desk did his best to make it right. It was not a relaxing stay between the noise from the construction outside, and the thin walls meant you heard anything that was going on out in the hallway. The hallways and rooms are outdated and sparse, so I hope they plan on renovating the interior of the hotel too. When trying to use the shower, the faucet in the tub flew off and hit my shins, leaving the rusty spigot to pelt me with water. That was a first!!!

    2
    « Go Elsewhere »

Under construction so plan on a 7am wake up call if not earlier. Staff is indifferent to you being there. Our reservation was wrong and the staff said they couldn't do anything for us but one call to the housing bureau and magically it was fixed. It seemed that their mistake was too much of an inconvenience to address. "Room with a view" of a distant lake in places if you look beyond the back of the other building in the foreground. Stayed twice now for business, not again.

    « Location, Location, Location! »

I recently stayed one night while I was in town for a friend's wedding. The key to this hotel is the location, there are many restaurants and bars within walking distance. The best part of our stay was waking up Saturday morning and walking across the street to the giant farmer's market on the capital square. Our room didn't have a great view at all; in fact, we looked out over an air conditioning unit and a brick wall. Check in took a long time as there was only one front desk attendant and it was prime check-in time. It also took about 15 minutes to drop our car with the valet and another 10 minutes to get the car at checkout. The bed in our room was the smallest "queen" bed I ever slept in and the hotel was pretty outdated. I did use the fitness facility in the hotel which was very nice with newer equipment.

    « Extremely disappointed »

I come to Madison for work a couple times per year and decided to stay here. I was beyond disappointed. In all fairness, I did like the location (see pic) and the mattress was AWESOME. I slept great. This is where the pros end. Here is a list of my issues: 1. The customer service is horrendous. This hotel needs to train every single employee. The young man that checked me in when I arrived seemed like he was doing me a favor. I was not greeted as a Rewards member. My wife dropped her wallet and we were worried looking for it and could care less. I didn't expect him to help us look even though he was not busy but he could at least look concerned. 2. I was charged for parking even though the website states it is free. I complained and it was deducted but that is not right. See attached pic of parking stub and of the website where it lists parking as free. 3. I called before making my reservation and asked about the hours for the pool. I was given the hours but not told it was closed for remodeling/construction. Why was I not told that? Who cares what the hours are if the pool is CLOSED??? See pics of posted signs. 4. I only stayed one night, thank God and this morning as I was gathering my belongings, noticed that there was so much garbage behind the TV, that it was disgusting. They do not clean here. See pic. 5. Tge bathroom is so small that you can't brush your teeth or wash your hands without your knees touching the toilet bowl. I am not even going to get into the construction because it may be needed...but it is extremely noisy and annoying. Do not stay here!!!

« Excellent location in downtown Madison »

The hotel is located in downtown Madison right across the street from the Capitol building. There are plenty of eating and drinking establishments within walking distance. Some rooms offer views of the lake or of the Capitol.

    « Better than I expected »

When I was told that the office had booked me into this hotel I was quite alarmed, as I have never had any good experiences from the Best Western brand. However it turned out better than I expected. Yes, the hotel building and rooms are tired, probably late Eighties and never re-touched. So the decor is very dated. But they keep the hotel spotlessly clean, the staff are friendly and the elevators work well. The best thing by far about this hotel is its location, which is very central, close to lots of bars and restaurants and other things to do. There's a Starbucks 200 yards down the road for breakfast, and a lovely cheese shop almost next door for snacks.

« good location for a conference downtown, but wouldn't stay there for regular rates »

Was there for a conference in late October at the Monona Terrace. Great location. There were 3 of us in a double bed room. Room was clean - I checked surfaces for dust, cobwebs, and even the vents weren't dusty. A bit noisy as we had rooms facing the rear, so we had bars and night noise, and construction noise during the morning/daytime. So the room was adequate and clean, but I can't believe the normal rate is $200 a night - the conference rate was $129 a night. My brother and his wife came for one night to see us during the conference, and he's a Best Western elite member, but he had to still pay for his room. I thought that was awful - if you have rewards with BW you should be able to use them without 'blackout dates'. And whomever he talked to when he made his reservation didn't tell him he couldn't use his rewards. He's never experienced that before EVER in all his travels around the Midwest, even in large cities like Madison. I know it's by the capital and a good location, and there were conferences going on, but come on! That was the main reason I made this a 3-star review. Another thing was that the HVAC system didn't go lower than 68 degrees in our room - it was hot and stuffy with 3 of us, even with the window open. I turned the fan on to 'cool' but it only went to 68 degrees, no lower. and it shut off intermittently and didn't cool the whole time. I forgot to mention it to the front desk when we left.

« Best choice for lodging in Madison »

I first selected the Inn because of the Best Western brand. However, on numerous trips to Madison, I discovered that it is by far the best option for me--close to Starbucks and fabulous eateries nearby, convenient valet service and reasonable overnight parking, free Internet and a welcoming and accommodating staff. Rooms are terrific with great amenities. I have no reason to look or stay elsewhere when in Madison.

« Best Western Plus on the Park »

Hotel right on the capitol square. Great location. Clean. Good room with great view. Valet parking very reasonable at $10 with in and out privileges. Farmer market right across the street. Room very quiet

    « Downtown destination »

This hotel is right across the street from the capitol and so it is impossible to get lost in the downtown area. Just head for the big dome! Very close to excellent restaurants, museums, campus, etc. The pool makes it family friendly as well. Clean, comfortable, and welcoming. We would stay again.

    « Over Priced »

Rooms were in short supply in Madison the weekend of our stay so the Inn on the Park took advantage to charge a premium rate which is understandable. It was nice to find a place to stay downtown but this really average hotel lacks the presence a $200+ room should.

    « Location, Location, Location »

We paid a premium for this hotel given its proximity to an event we were attending. It was definitely worth the extra money to be so close to the Terrace; however, if I was just visiting Madison I would've been disappointed with the accommodations given the price we paid. When we first checked-in we weren't ready to give up our car which was a bit of a hassle. You can't just park in the lot; you have to valet. This was a repeated pain throughout our stay. Just grabbing a jacket out of the car turned into a 20 minute ordeal if you were not the one holding the valet ticket. (And then you have to tip someone for running to another building to grab your jacket for you. And by the way you also have to pay to valet.) So yeah, that's a pain. The first room we were offered had an OVERWHELMING smell of smoke. I should've checked behind the door or in the closet - someone had to have been actively smoking in the room when we opened the door for it to be that bad. Honestly, we didn't even make it into the room. Luckily the front desk staff was great. They got us into a new room immediately even though they were sold out. Can't say enough great things about how easy they made that process (still a process - but they were great). Our second room was larger with a much smaller bathroom. The space was great given we had three of us travelling together. Unfortunately the room had a horrible high-pitched noise that kept us awake through the night. Maintenance came to the room at 9am the next morning - exactly when they said he'd be there. He diagnosed the issue as an exchange between the AC and the heater (it was in the 40s at night and in the 70s during the day during our stay). When the HVAC tried to regulate the temperature in the room we got the horrible squeak. The only fix was to disconnect wither the heat or the AC. I'm grateful they were able to diagnose the problem and address it; however, it ate an hour of my trip and I got to choose to be either hot or cold at a premium rate. While the maintenance guy was in the room I had the patio door to the pool area open. As soon as he left I went to close the patio door and a young man (early 20s) was walking into my room through the open patio door. I confronted him and he immediately tried to play it off like he was looking for the exit (through a guest room?) When continued to walk towards him to get him out of my room there were two other young men, similarly aged, playing look-out for him in the pool area. It was wholly unacceptable. It was unnerving. And I was concerned for the security of the contents of our room the remainder of the trip. I stay at a lot of hotels - from economy to five star - and I never have this many issues. I have to say, it was frustrating. The staff was great through it all; however, the staff should not have to be great in these situations because I shouldn't be put in these situations when I pay to stay someplace. I will say the location was fabulous. We were delighted at the huge farmers market that was set up around the capitol on Saturday morning. Access to the Terrace was amazing. And the great coffee shop around the corner was delightful when the in room coffee situation at the hotel was bleak. Pros: - Location, location, location - Fun, friendly staff Cons: - Ongoing maintenance issues - Lack of security - Valet only parking make vehicle access a pain - half the hotel opens up to the pool so you are at the mercy of the guests using the pool for noise. Overall: If all you need is location, this is a great hotel. I know it was a huge difference maker for our trip. The location definitely was the highlight.

« Well located hotel near the capitol and within walking distance of the university »

The room was clean and good, with comfortable beds. The bathroom was a bit dated. Our fifth floor room faced away from the front, capitol side. It was noisy because several bars were located below, across the street and a construction project on the street below disturbed our sleep, with loud construction equipment noise each morning. Parking is available in the building at a cost of $10 per night. Free breakfast is not offered, but there are many places to get it in the surrounding area or at the hotel.

    « Location - Unbelievable; Hotel - Suitable »

I stayed at this hotel this past weekend for the UW-Iowa football game. I had been looking for months for a hotel near campus which was under $350/night... and finally the week before the game this hotel opened up at the right price and I jumped at the chance to stay here. Overall, the experience at the hotel was fine... but the biggest selling point is clearly the outstanding location. We had four people in a 2-Queen room... we're close friends and we don't usually spend more than 2 hours awake total in the room for a long weekend. The room was average size, with a lake view on the 6th floor. Room could have used more lighting for non-day time and the carpet/bedding felt like it was due for an upgrade. The bathroom was tiny but the shower was new. The room did have a fridge (nice) but no microwave (definitely would be worth the $25/room cost the hotel would have to pay for new ones). The room, in the end, was suitable for what we needed though... sleeping for 6 hours/night and a place to get dressed/ready for bed. The hotel is ON the Capitol Square, home of tons of great restaurants/bars and a short walk to the top of State Street. Great, great location. We walked through the farmer's market on Sat morning and really enjoyed it. Props to the bartender who let us buy a six-pack of beer from him to take up to our room... we came back late on Friday and wanted one more beer in the room and he was accommodating. The valet parking was nice/quick... but we weren't aware that the second car for the room would be double the normal charge ($20/night versus $10). In the end it's still reasonable for two cars to be valet parked in downtown Madison for two days for $60. But having planned on $40 and getting told about it after my car was pulled up wasn't the best. In the end, this hotel is perfect for short trips where you won't be in the room much. That's why I would definitely come back here. If you're looking for more comfort/amenities, you probably have better options downtown though.

« Customer Service? Nope. They don't care. »

I realize that customer service is a dying industry. But, working in customer care myself for many years in various industries, I have spent that time bending over backwards for loyal customers to keep them loyal or new customers to inspire them to return. That includes making special accommodations when asked and dispensing with a policy if it means keeping someone happy. I was scheduled to be in Madison next week and made a reservation for 4 nights on Points. Yes, I saw that there was a 4 night minimum and that the reservation's cancellation date was a week prior to check in. However, a change of plans required me only to have to stay one night. So, believing that Best Western's Customer Service policy would be to do one's best to keep a guest happy, I called the hotel. Now, I spent 8 years in the hotel business in time gone by and EVERY time a guest asked for an accommodation, they were granted it. THAT is superior customer care. Years ago I also worked at a Best Western and I took a Best Western Customer Care seminar called "I Care" and the thrust of it was CARE ABOUT YOUR GUEST'S NEEDS AND DO YOUR BEST TO KEEP THEM HAPPY. Apparently, this hotel does not subscribe to that philosophy. Best Western International should take notice of how this hotel is run, because they not only did not work with me or even remotely try to provide what I believe to be excellent customer service, they failed twice. I called the hotel. I told them from the get go that I was aware of the 4 night minimum as well as the cancellation date but told them my plans had changed and I only needed a room for the first night. I asked if they would kindly make an exception to their policies. They said no, they would not make an exception. They next told me that I could either cancel the entire reservation or cancel the last three nights but have my points taken away for the first night WITHOUT letting me actually stay there. There is some sort of Expo in town. I didn't know about the Expo, I am not coming for the Expo, I don't care about the Expo. I just think it is patently unfair to charge me points for a night when they are not allowing me to actually sleep there. They should either cancel the entire reservation without penalty as a good will gesture or they should take my points for the first night and also give me a room for the points they will be taking. I called Best Western International Customer Care and spoke to a representative who said he would call the hotel management and negotiate on my behalf. They also told him I was **** out of luck. I stayed at this hotel before and found the staff to be extremely unfriendly and inattentive. I would not have chosen to stay there again except that the location was the most convenient for me. So, this is now TWICE that I have found the attitudes and service to be substandard. Yes ... I know that their response would be that they do not have to release me or not penalize me. I KNOW that my request involved a departure from their "policies," but that is what you do when one of your guests asks. They will say that because of the Expo all their guests (though I do not believe that ... everyone coming to Madison is coming for the Expo) are staying for four nights. OK ... then give them my room for the four nights and let me keep my points. To take the points for a night and not let me stay that night is robbery. So, yes, I KNOW the policies, but good customer service in ANY industry dictates that you do whatever you can to empathize with your customers and do whatever it takes to keep them happy and loyal. I had thought my last experience there might have been an anomaly and most likely their staff and management are usually excellent. Not so. I am VERY disappointed with this hotel and very disappointed with Best Western International Customer Care that they have so little influence with their hotels and were unable to inspire this particular hotel to live the customer care policies they train. I also worked at 4 Marriotts in the past. They would have been able to reach out and obtain satisfaction when contacted by an unhappy guest. That is why I generally stay at Marriotts. Best Western doesn't hold a candle to them.
