Best Western Hotel Kurfuerst Wilhelm I

The hotel is in a great location. It's very convenient for train travel, just adjacent to the stations. It is also located within walking distance to lovely parks and tourist attractions. My room was clean and spacious.

We stayed two nights with our two kids in the tower suite with a great 360 degrees view over Kassel, we could even see the Hercules from our room. The kids immediately felt at home in this spacious room. The location of the hotel is very central and there is a parking garage under the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We really appreciated the free public transport tickets that we used to discover Kassel. Breakfast was very good with a lot of choice and fresh food. I would recommend this hotel if you are travelling to Kassel with your family.

Stayed here 2 nights in sa very nice room, wonderful lady on the reception,Heidi, we had a very long discussion about nothing and everything !! Priceless. The room i had was big, very close to Kassel W rail station, easy to navigate, up to the castle and Hercules fountain, down to city center. Big kiss to Heidi !!

We had just stayed at a fabulous Best Western in Wurtzburg, and thus this tired, ugly, desperately in need of renovation hotel in Kassel is a major disappointment. Bare-bones service, dreadfully old bathroom, cheap fake wood floors and no carpeting of any kind (thankfully I had flip flops with me.) Barely adequate breakfast. No valet. No shampoo or conditioner If you come by car, you have to park at a public lot. The thing this hotel has going for it is location, next to the tram/train station. Best Western, please come in and renovate this place so that it can be a credit to your reputation.

I recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to have an easy access to the train station or tram lines. Very nice and helpful staff, did not try the food but there is a small kiosk and cafe next door. Also the around the corner Chinese restaurant was good. The room is pretty basic but nice and clean. My only complain is the shower. I don't like "shower closets".

Mediocre at best. IAW not so Best Western. The hotels is run down. You know, an older hotel, partly refurbished, partly ‘romantic old style': it doesn't give a good end product. Rooms are ok, but the rest below standard. Staff is doing whatever and you better go somewhere else for breakfast

This is typical of a Best Western hotel, all very relaxed. Staff on reception when we arrived were not the most helpful, we parked in the garage which is also the station car park as advised but there are quite few stairs leading up to the hotel, plus steps in reception. As we have been travelling round Germany for couple of weeks we had few bags but it proved difficult getting them to reception, eventually we took car out of garage and parked in pedestrian area to unload and then put car back, all of this could have been avoided if the reception had said there was a lift from parking to shopping entrance just few yards away. The Junior suite was nice and large with loads of storage space but cannot help think they have missed a trick, instead of a huge table and 6 chairs..for 2 people, there was ample space for a nice sofa. It could even have been a sofa bed as room was plenty big enough for a family. Breakfast buffet was very good. This hotel is perfectly situated for buses, trams and trains and the Schloss museum is within a 30 mins walk.

This run-down gem of a little hotel is situated in Kassel Wilhelmshöhe and conveniently located for visiting the park and palace. When you stumble out of the railwaistation you sort of fall into this hotel.

I arrived on a cold and rainy evening and received a warm welcome. Super helpful front desk, a map of the town, and even a transportation pass for the duration of my stay. The place had a weird, non-rectangular elevator, but it worked fine. When I told them I was a BW Rewards member I received a drink coupon and a bottle of water; they also had coffee and fruit available all the time. I was way up on the 5th floor, despite the cold I still slept with the window open. I can't imagine what it's like in the summer when it's out and out hot. The other problem on the 5th floor was the wifi was not great. But it wasn't very good down on the ground floor in the restaurant. Restaurant was pretty good. Breakfast was even better.

- Excellent location, 5 minutes walk from Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe Train Station ( pls note that not Kassel Train Station) yet it is only 15 minutes from Wilhelmshöhe to Kassel by tram. Hotel would give you a free tram/ bus travel ticket upon arrival, so it is convenient to travel to and from Kassel; - Noise issue; - spacious room and bathroom; - hair dryer, little fridge, hot water boiler and free tea/ coffee provided; - clean and tidy

Title says it all, this is perfect location, halfway between bad wilhelmshoehe and the city, and trams go everywhere. The staff were friendly, prices reasonable. The room was big and clean, the bed is the only negative, was not very comfortable. Still recommend though.

This quaint and cosy hotel is conveniently located next to the main train station and tram stops that will bring to most sights in the city. With good service, clean rooms and a fresh modern interior, this has to be the best Best Western Hotel I have stayed in thus far!

We were not here for long, just a pit-stop on our way down south. It met our needs for a place to sleep and have dinner. The food was good but sleep was elusive due to the heat, lack of AC and the noisy main road outside our window. I would imagine in cooler weather, the room experience would be much better as although the room had no frills it was clean and comfortable. The location is great for the Bergpark and Hercules monument which is just a 5 min drive away. Staff were friendly.

I truly wish that I had read the Trip Advisor reviews prior to booking. First thing to know is that the hotel is literally a few steps away from the train station in Kassel. ** Do not take a taxi from the station! While rather dreary from the outside and lobby, our room, 55, was surprisingly modern. Extremely large and light-filled, it has views of the city and a big-screen television in the conference-room which doubles as a living room. With no air conditioning, though, fans are a necessity during the warm summer months. The bathroom is of medium size; however, don't plan on showering if you are taller than 5'. The tub shower is incredibly awkward. The bedroom, which requires a separate fan, is very tight and combines two single beds. If you are a light sleeper, beware: the linoleum floor and bed frame loudly creak every time someone moves. In spite of its location (adjacent to the tram station), external noise is surprisingly muffled. Absolutely do not purchase the breakfast vouchers -- options are quite limited and rarely replenished. Staff was very accommodating and pleasant. It is what you would expect from a Best Western.

The downside to this hotel is its location. It is right near the train station, and trams run there as well. I could hear trains as late as midnight and as early as 5 am. Otherwise, it is a clean, well-run, and comfortable place to stay.

Hotel is situated next to the railway station, which is not an issue, however you can hear trams from the street early in the morning. Room was clean and spacious, even with the conference table and 6 chairs:) I was missing the carpet on the floor. Other than that, all was fine, good breakfast.

Not really much to complain about here. Staff is very friendly and courteous. The rooms are ok in size, bathroom is ok as well. Not the best hotel ever but clearly a good destination for a few nights in Kassel.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks in September on Business on a Room Only basis. The first week I was in Room 55 for 5 nights and the second week, in Room 25, for 1 night. Reception: Used reception a few times and every member of staff was extremely helpful, courteous and attentive, especially the lady who checked me in on my first stay, who explained the surrounding area, provided me with an inclusive bus and tram ticket (and explained how the network works) etc. This was all very helpful. Room 55: I'm pretty sure this is the largest room in the hotel and you can see from my pictures the main living area is very spacious, clean, modern with plenty of light, as it is a corner room so has the benefit of all those windows! Very large flat screen TV was in the room which had a variety of German channels. It also had extra ports like USB and HDMI, so you can connect your own items. I used the HDMI to watch English programs from my iPad. Room had a reasonably priced mini bar and bonus of a spare small empty minibar fridge. This was good as there are 2 supermarkets about 30 second walk so used this for water, soft drinks and chocolate. Another bonus is there is a nice coffee pod machine in Room 55 which makes nice coffee. Standard hotel safe with 4 digit pin is available also. Bedroom was adequate, but some may find it small. It also had a smaller TV on the wall, but did the job just fine. As the room is at the very top, noise from the trams and street level is not noticable. A great weeks stay. Room 25: Still a very nice room with large TV and AV connections. Weather was a bit cooler this week so used the radiators to warm up the room and bathroom. You get a little more noise from the trams, but it does not distract and did not cause any problems for me. Location: Fantastic. Located in the square of the Kassel-Wilhemshoe ICE Bahn (rail) station (with Tram, Taxi and Bus also), there are cafes, restaurants and supermarkets extremely close. WIFI: I couldn't actually get this to work with the codes. Overall, a great stay and a very pleasant surprise for my first stay at a Best Western hotel. The staff are great. Note of caution, on the second week, I used booking.com for my booking, but when I arrived, my booking was not on the system at all. Thankfully, there were rooms available, so it was ok, but if it was full, I'm not sure what would have happened! So maybe a good idea to confirm your booking if using booking.com.

My second stay at the hotel! Friendly staff still there, coffee maker in room still there - but drinks in fridge are now charged for. Wifi still free (but no you need a new code each day, which wasn't clear when I checked in - useful to bear in mind). Oh, and you get a free public transport ticket for the area for the duration of your stay - very useful! Now the downside - I'd chosen the hotel because it had its own restaurant (makes expenses claim a lot easier!). However, this was closed for the whole of August - again, it wasn't mentioned when I checked in, and there was no sign on the internal entrance. It was only when I thought it looked a bit empty of staff and went and asked that I was told! There was actually a sign on the external restaurant door, but that wouldn't normally be seen by hotel guests...! Still, there are several other eateries in the area including a good little Italian in a shopping arcade directly over the main road.

Stayed one night in a family room that was spacious with all the amenities that we needed. The bathroom was a good size and the beds were comfortable. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant which was very good, the hamburger was amazing and the kids menu was a success with my 3 kids. The service was excellent, the waitress was polite and provided a good service. The breakfast was of a very good standard. The only negative was that There is very little option to where you park your car, otherwise the hotel is an excellent choice.

I was pleasantly surprised by this moderately priced hotel. My room was large, clean and renovated - it even had a balcony. The wifi worked great, and I got a free weekend transit card. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the location was perfect. The only downside was the street noise (mostly trams), which didn't bother me but might bother some who are light sleepers - if so, you should request a room that doesn't face the street. I would definitely stay there again.

Ok, if you want a high-class ultra status hotel.....this is not the one for you. If you want a hotel between "Hercules" and the Fulda River, which is very comfortable, and has some old style charm, then this meets your needs. Several notes, no parking connected to the hotel, but the "City" parkhaus is right under the side of it and costs 12-Euro a day. Also note that it's next to the ICE station (1-min walking). Rooms are ample and up to date. I will admit, it's a 1800's style hotel but renovated. Bathrooms are good condition. There is no AC, so I might not go there in Jul/Aug. But they have ultra-friendly people working for them. The cafe does a decent job with dinner, and I thought breakfast was pretty good. They have a weekend package, which includes day-lunches and a weekend card for local tram/bus travel. I strongly recommend this package. The bonus to location is that it's next door to the city tram-point. Room was clean. TV offered BBC. Refrigerator in the room, along with a safe. Bed was perfect. Wi-Fi worked.....maybe not super-fast but fast enough. If you are doing a couple of days in town and intend to use the public tram service, this is the best hotel to pick from.

I have now stayed at this hotel three times, in three different rooms, and all of them have been great: clean, modern, with wood floors, comfortable beds and desks. It's an old building with high ceilings, and lots of light in the rooms. Some of the rooms are on the street with the streetcars, but then windows close quite tightly, and I haven't found the noise to be a problem (this might be different in warm weather).They leave gummi bears (or imitation gummi bears) on the bed when you arrive. And the breakfast is really excellent. My one problem with the hotel is that the wi-fi is slow and unreliable. Some rooms have poor receiption from the router, but even in rooms with good reception, it's slow and gets even slower in the evenings. If you depend on a fast internet connection while at your hotel, this might not be the best place for you.

Best Western Hotel Kurfuerst Wilhelm I is located near the highspeed ICE train station and that's about the best you can say. The hotel itself is rather mediocre with some interesting mix of art and kitsch.

Great hotel to stay at near the German Auto Bahn. It is a very friendly staff welcoming you here, the speak several languages, and the restaurant offers a great selection of food and beverages. The morning buffet is great as well.

In a charming 19th c. building with character (but modern rooms and baths), this hotel is IDEAL for visiting Kassel via the EC/IC station just a block away, with frequent tram service both to the main part of the city and to the castle and waterworks up the hill. Breakfast was perfectly adequate and my room was extremely comfortable, with new and working appliances and a nice, spacious bath. Nothing extraordinary -- it's still a Best Western, not a luxury hotel -- but very nice and welcoming staff.

located near the entrance of kassel wilhelmshohe train station, the room was very comfrtable with free wifi the hotel has a lift and the exterior is clean and nice. breakfast is available with a charge, but you can catch the tram to the center of the town and have some coffee and sandwich there if you dont want to pay the extra charge

It is next to the Train station and there are street cars a busses at the entrance to the hotel. The rooms were very nice, the beds were comfortable. There are plenty of food options and even a small grocery store beside the hotel. I travel way too much for business and am very picky about hotels. This one is a winner.

Handy for station, friendly staff, free wifi is nice, as is coffee making facilities in room (a rarity it seems these days!) and a fridge stocked with free juice etc. Breakfast was OK, but I can imagine the room might get a little crowded if all the guests came down at once.

We stayed there for one night on are way back from France and it was lousy. Staff were nice and breakfast was good too but there was nothing on the plates when we arrived to the restaurant hour before the breakfast should end. The lady simply couldn´t do everything by herself. But when we asked something, she would bring it, so it was ok. But the room..maybe it was 3 stars like 20 years ago. Very old furniture and old everything, I´m glad we only had to stay for one night. Even it is very nice building outside, our room was very poor. Would say that the best part was very good Chinese restaurant around the corner :D
