The Hotel Goldener Adler is on the edge of old town yet convenient to other areas, with a helpful and friendly staff, an historic property with unique decor, an illustrious list of guests, surrounded by many restaurants, points of interest and delicious restaurants
A familiar hotel with very friendly staff. The room was cozy. Breakfast was very good. Hotel is located in the old town of Innsbruck close to a lot of sightseeing points. Hotel is ideal for a city trip to Innsbruck as well as for relaxing after an exhaustive working day.
Friendly staff who met our every need. Clean and centrally located to both sites and transportation., but we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to. Close to restaurants and entertainment. Comes with a complete and delicious breakfast. We would stay here again.
Old building with lots of character in the heart of Innsbruck. It hosted most illustrious people including Mozart and Paganini as well as royalty. It has an elevator so you'll have no problem in getting your suitcases to your floor. The staff are courteous and efficient. Breakfast is super.
We chose the Goldener Adler for its historic character and location. Having apparently booked a standard room by mistake, we were quite dismayed with the small, dark and dated room that looked directly onto the masonry across a very narrow lane. As soon as we walked in we could distinctly hear the television from the neighboring room. Fortunately, we were able to rebook into a larger, renovated corner room (I believe in the “deluxe” category) that was filled with light. This made our stay more comfortable. However, a few touches were lacking. For example, the window treatments do not include blackout curtains, so the light does encroach on the room in the morning. And while we never heard our neighbors, lack of exterior soundproofing and the property's convenient location in the old town meant a fair amount of street noise well into the night. The front desk staff were exceedingly friendly and helpful – they have a lot of responsibilities between handling incoming and departing guests, attending to guest needs, calling for taxis and the like – and all was handled efficiently and competently. In fact, it was the very helpful front desk personnel who saved our rating of this hotel from being "average." The hotel does not itself offer parking but has arranged discounts with two nearby garages, which worked well enough for our needs.
Great place in the heart of the old city. We had a room on the 2nd floor, super clean and view to the mountains. Service was perfect, excellent breakfast and the restaurant is also very nice. The Hotel is within a historic building, very impressive!
Wonderful historic hotel with a very rich history. It is a beautiful building with comfortable clean rooms. It had a very friendly staff. The hotel is located in the heart of the old city Yet for all that it has moderate prices.
Excellent location, friendly staff, very nice rooms. Our room was overlooking the river and alps. Highly recommend. Located 100 m from the Goldenes Dachl, the Hotel can be found right in the heart of Innsbruck. It offers free internet and breakfast till 10 A wide range of Tyrolean specialities as well as international cuisine are served in the Restaurant of the Best Western Plus Hotel Goldener Adler Innsbruck. The Imperial Palace and the Hofkirche church are reachable within a 5-minute walk. A public garage is 2-minutes walk away and tickets are sold at the reception.
My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Goldener Adler. The room was nice with a view of the river. The restaurant was outstanding. The service was superb. The location on the Fussgangerzone was outstanding... But the room had no air conditioning. Now, this was not a problem for us, as it was cool enough with a fan and the windows open. But do be advised if traveling in an unusually hot summer season...
The staff was helpful and friendly, the restaurant was exceptional and the building was interesting and convenient to everything. I would recommend this hotel highly. Also it was surprising how quiet the room was given the busy location of the hotel.
The hotel overall, the room and staff were wonderful! Definitely recommend it. And best of all, it is in the heart of old town —shopping, great restaurants, museums, coffee and wine bar close by. Outdoor patio seating abounds! It is also close to the river so you could always find your way back!
We enjoyed our stay here. The rooms were clean, and the beds were comfortable. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It's located in a great part of town with a vibrant atmosphere. The price is reasonable.
A lovely old hotel in an ideal location in the old town. Very close to all tourist attractions and a few minutes walk to the hop on/hop off tour bus. The room was perfect and all of the staff went out of their way to ensure our stay was rememberable. Very friendly and helpful - we would certainly recommend a stay at this hotel.
Really pleasant surprise. Location is great and in the heart of Innsbruck, literally a stones throw from the golden roof. Reception staff are charming and efficient. Breakfast was a mix of buffet and a hot egg meal. Overall, thoroughly recommended.
The staff and hotel were superb. Great location in the center of the historical area. Restaurant meals and wine were very good and the wait staff was awesome! They definitely made our stay more enjoyable as it rained the whole time we were there.
From the moment we arrived, this proved to be one of the nicest hotels out of about 15 we have stayed at during our two month trip. The people at the front desk couldn't have been nicer, the room was very quiet, comfortable and air conditioned, immaculate bathroom and an excellent included breakfast. Excellent value!
The Hackl family have one of the friendliest hotels I stay at. The greeting is warm, the father comes into the restaurant and greets his customers in the morning. The food is very good and several restaurants near by. The train station is a short taxi or tram ride to the hotel.
very good located hotel, comfortable room and kind breakfast service; the concierge was very helpful in order to change the first noisy room. I'd prefer to have a full minibar in every moment of my stay!
Cute hotel in a perfect location, you were right in the old town, plenty of touristy places there. Small mpries grocery store right across the street, which is nice. Walk 10 minutes and you can find great non-touristy casual restaurants and bars by the river. So really could not have found a better location. Family run and very service oriented. We had a problem with our safe and they were on it immediately, very helpful. Breakfast was very good and they had soy milk out which is very much appreciated. Only issues:we were on the 4th floor and internet connection was hard to get, but if you walk with your device out in the hall near elevator you can connect and it stays connected in the room. So it worked, just be aware.
This hotel was in the middle of the cutest area in Innsbruck. It did not feel like a traditional hotel, more of a cozy Austrian feel. It was just my young daughter and I and we felt very safe in this hotel and area. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was perfect. They went beyond expectations - even walking outside and down the road to check the weather at the tops of the mountains before recommending the Hafelekar cable car for us (which is an absolute must while you are here). I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Innsbruck.
We spent one night at the best Western plus hotel Goldener Adler. The hotel is in an extremely convenient location for visiting the city. The old building is charming and well-kept. The front office staff is outstanding in their willingness to be helpful and courteous. Breakfast was excellent.
Ultimately the hotel is responsible for all info at booking.com. That's why I decided to write. When making reservation using Booking.com it says the hotel has a near by parking but it does not say a word about to be located in a pedestrian location only and that would be hard to handle the lugagge. Also the reservation process states that there is no need to provide a credit card but right after it requires one. Also it says that the payment would be at the hotel front desk but they had already charged my credit card. I asked to the lady to cancel it because I wanted to use another on but she refused.
The Goldener Adler was everything we expected: great location, clean, quiet, and a stunning breakfast! The staff was polite and efficient and helpful. Would recommend the Goldener Adler to all my friends.
As the title says, great hotel and location. The parking is simple, use the Alstadt parking lot about 2 blocks west on Innrain. The hotel gets you a great discount. The parking is limited due to construction, so you might have to wait a little while for a spot. The front desk (Nicole and Nina) are wonderful, friendly and professional in everyway. The room is good sized, well designed. The only negative was the maid didn't re-stock any tolietries and some towels during two night stay.
Wonderful facility in a wonderful location in the Altstadt part of city. Rooms superb and comfortable. Very clean. Front desk personnel are very friendly , accomodating and helpful. My Deutsch is not the best-. They speak very excellent in English. Would recommend this property to anyone going to Innsbruck
This small, beautifully decorated and furnished hotel in an historic building and location offers superb, friendly service from reception to housekeeping to restaurant to checkout. Buffet breakfast and dinner in the restaurant were both excellent. A perfect "goldilocks" mattress was frosting on the cake. Wifi connection was a bit erratic, but quite adequate.
Recently stayed two nights at this hotel. The location is excellent; right in the pedestrian zone downtown. Check in was quick; all staff were very efficient and friendly. Our room was fine except the bathroom. It was so small it was almost impossible to open the shower door and get into it. No counter or place to put anything as well. Bed was comfortable, ample room in room with nice flatscreen TV. This is an old building, so each room is a bit different. I would definitely stay here gin, but ask to see the room first. The other couple we were with had a much larger bathroom and different room layout. Breakfast was very nice each morning with male choices of both hot and cold food. Bar prices are extremely expensive. A rum/coke cost 10 Euros and with your shot of rum you get 3 ounces of coke. Everyone else in Europe they give you the bottle. I think this bar should do the same or lower their prices. Bartender was the only hotel personnel without a friendly personality. Three are plenty of restaurants, bars and entertainment within walking distance, It is about 15 minute walk from the train station. I would recommend this hotel nd plan to tay here again when returning to Innsbruck.
Missed perfection because the WiFi was so difficult to maintain in the room. Several times I had to walk to the elevator to re-connect or stand at the door of the room to maintain the connection. Otherwise the room was spacious and comfortable! The breakfast included was very good! The staff exceptional!
Lovely hotel right in the centre of Innbruck. Staff is very helpfull and breakfast was excellent. The room itself was rather small. All sights are within walking distance, also the start of the Nordketten Bahnen.
After travelling in Europe for 5 weeks we enjoyed the welcome and quality of the accomodation, the dinners and the breakfasts at this hotel. Despite overlooking a very busy and picturesque square, the room we had was quiet and private. The staff were very friendly and helpful. A model for others to follow.
This historic building is located at the entrance to old town Innsbruck. The rooms have been renovated and are very comfortable and lovely. The rooms are air conditioned, which is a plus in my book. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was included in my package and was nicely done. I would definitely stay here again!
The welcome, the situation right in the heart of the old town, the food, the room, the facilities and the whole ambience made this a lovely place to stay for us and for our golden retriever. Should have stayed longer!
Just stayed overnight there with friends. Gorgeous historic hotel in the historic center of Innsbruck also close to the river. Great building inside as well as outside. Nice quiet room, mine was on the last floor. Had a nice quick dinner and also a nice breakfast in the morning. Public parking nearby for the car.
always nice stay at Goldener Adler, staff very friendly and professional even at hhe phone for my reservation. Price ok, this time suggest a special offer from the staff. Unfortunately in this stay work in progress, but sometimes happens.
Very often, I stay at this hotel which is located in the old town of Innsbruck. The hotel, with a history going back for several centuries, is very close to the Golden Roof, the Inn river and the Hofburg. In addition, the hotel also has an excellent restaurant serving local cuisine. Staff is really friendly and tries to accomodate all wishes of its customers.
My wife and I stayed here for two days of our honeymoon. Innsbruck itself is amazing and great central location to get to many sites if you are traveling by car. This hotel was wonderful. The restaurant had great food, and while our room was just a bit on the small side, we were quite comfortable. Beds were very comfortable. Bathroom had more space than the usual European bathroom. Staff was very welcoming and very helpful.
The location is excellent, right in Old Town with parking close by. The staff was attentive and very friendly and helpful. And we enjoyed our large corner room with its sitting area and large bathroom...
Was upgraded to a larger room which was quiet and nice : the Paganini room. The bathroom was very modern with a large shower. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful with a good muesli. The restaurant is one of the best of the town.
I stayed for a week. It is located in the center of the old city, which means easy access to the sight seeing spots. The ambience is nice and classy. It is well renovated so it is OK about the shower and toilet with the minimal space. Since the room I stayed in was on the tip floor, which is actually attic in Europe, so the ceiling is not high. If you are tall, you might feel like being captured... Generous breakfast was included.
We had a fantastic stay at the Goldener Adler hotel and have only wonderful things to say about it. First, the staff upgraded our room for no reason and we had a beautiful view in a spacious, luxurious room. Next, the breakfast was so satisfying and I wish we could have stayed another night just for that! Also, you cannot beat the location. The staff was so friendly. I highly recommend staying here.

Our group liked the hotel location very much cause most of places we had visited are located within walking distance; museums, Hofburg, Hofkirche, Nordkette cable car station, shopping area and restaurants. The hotel themselves have a long history to tell. Some double rooms are a bit small, corner room then more preferable while family rooms are quite spacious. Rooms are tidy and clean. We had a diner at the hotel one evening and it was good.

I have stayed in this hotel for one night in March 2018. The hotel is located in the old city, so naturally there is no parking on site. It provides a discounted parking (10Euro a day) in the nearby Alstadt parking lot, 10 minutes walk from the hotel. The single room is small but adequate for a single person. It was somewhat warm from the heating system, so I opened a window, which I would do anyway. And it was very clean. I had to leave early so I could not try the full breakfast, but they opened the breakfast room early for me, so I can at least have something before I go. The hotel staff is very courteous and helpful. When I left the hotel, and walked into the parking lot, I heard footsteps running behind me. It turns out I left my wallet at the hotel reception, and somebody ran for 10 minutes to catch up with me and give me the wallet. I would recommend the hotel for anyone visiting the old city of Innsbruck.

We spent one night here in transit to the ski slopes. My wife and I stayed 3 nights at this super historic hotel in the center of town, very comfortable rooms with modern furniture and bathrooms. Breakfast was buffet style which was excellent and the staff were extrememly helpful. Many cafe's, restaurants and shops were just meters away. I highly recommend his hotel.

The hotel comes with so much history but has all the comforts of a modern hotel. As a family of 4 we availed of the interconnecting rooms and worked a treat for us. Location wise you are right in the middle of the historic Centre of the town, would heartily recommend taking a walking guide to learn about the history of the city, we did 2 hours but you could easily stretch that to 3 or 4. Breakfast was very nice and had dinner one night which was also very good. Reception staff were lovely and very helpful. Had a great stay heartily recommend you consider this hotel for a short stay in Innsbruck.

We already reviewed the restaurant, which was great. We are staying st the hotel with our 14-year-old granddaughter. We have connecting rooms on the fourth floor and all is great. Is this a 5-Star hotel? No. But I believe it's the top to be had in Innsbruck, and the staff MAKES it 5-Star. They are so helpful and nice. We called down for ice tonight and it came within a few minutes. When I offered a small tip, the lovely young woman refused it. That is just one example. Bottom line, we highly recommend this hotel if you are coming to Innsbruck.

The ancient building is right in the heart of the old town. The interior has been tastefully modernised and the rooms are clean and comfortable. All the staff are really friendly and the front desk are particularly efficient. Breakfast was a nice buffet plus the option to order hot food. There is a restaurant with a good reputation but not tried on this visit. A perfect choice for Innsbruck at a reasonable price.

We stayed here one night and overall had a great stay. Very helpful upon checking in and was thrilled that our room was ready early. The location could not be any better for exploring Innsbruck. However, the rooms were small and there was almost a smoky smell inside. The breakfast was great the next morning! Overall, thought it was a little overpriced for the room.

A charming historic hotel right in the heart of the old town. The staff were exceptionally friendly & helpful and the upgraded bedroom was spacious, very well equipped and very comfortable . The continental breakfast provided plenty of choice both hot and cold and was all to a very high standard. We could not have asked for more !
This very well maintained historic hotel situated in the centre of the old town of Innsbruck is perfect for exploring this lovely city. The accommodation provides modern, high quality facilities, our room on the 3rd floor was spacious, quiet and very comfortable. The bathroom had quality fittings, plenty of space and well supplied with toiletries. The breakfast provided for all tastes and the full range was available until the end of the breakfast period. We found the staff extremely friendly and helpful from the moment that we arrived.
We spent one night here in transit to the ski slopes. It is a quaint and very historic hotel with small but comfortable rooms located in the centre of the old town. Breakfast was excellent and the staff more than helpful. We wished we could stay longer. Highly recommended

Kind staff at reception. The room, recently refurnished, was not large, but clean, quiet and came with the details expected for that hotel category. Parking nearby, the hotel offers a fixed reduced rate. Excellent choice of food for the breakfast buffet. The restaurant, being renovated, was closed.

Family trip to Innsbruck. We had two of the smaller rooms on the 2nd floor. On the plus side: the hotel is quaint, conveniently located in a nice part of town (near the Golden roof and about 8 minutes walking distance to the train), staff is friendly and helpful, meals were well prepared, interesting decor in the hotel area. There's a parking garage nearby, apparently. In the “needs updating” category: the rooms were tired looking (not updated, as the others rooms appear to be) and the carpets need cleaning. Of note: it was a bit noisy on Friday night when the bar patrons walked down the street after 3am. That said, we would stay here again if we return to Innsbruck
We enjoyed our visit at this hotel, and there are many reasons to like it: friendly and helpful staff and servers; a massive breakfast buffet in the morning with amazing croissants, breads and pastries among other items; located in Old Town and within walking distance from practically all the tourist locations (and if not, a quick walk to the funicular or the bus); the room was clean and well appointed and the hotel itself is quaint and historically interesting. However, my three complaints are (1) the tiny room (you could barely squeeze around the double bed without banging a knee on a desk or the footboard etc); (2) the tiny bathroom lacking in any counter space whatsoever; and (3) the partially “frosty” glass enclosure with a door that doesn't latch for the bathroom. Anyone just a tad over 6 feet tall can peek over the frosty glass, which is just plain weird.

Our room was spacious, comfortable and tidy with a huge walk in bath for my elderly mom.We lived all the, activity outside our door with all tge Xmas decor and markets,we were truly in the thick of it!Siper location to walk anywhere and if you got confused you knew the,Adler was, around the corner. The staff were the best and we lived chatting with everyone. We especially loved the little egg hats for such an extensive and healthy breakfast to start your day!!We also tried 2 dinners which were excellent and delicious . We would stay here again in beautiful Innsbruck and look no further. We were really thrilled and very Happy Guests. See you again !

Maybe you wanna come back in Summer, this time for a hike?! even though i could understand if it will be christmas again, its a very magical and nice time!! :) enjoy your time and see you soon ;) we're looking forward welcoming you! best regards, Goldener Adler
This is a great property in the heart of old town Innsbruck with beautiful rooms a great restaurant that serves a spectacular breakfast but what make this the place it is are the people who work there. I just want to single one of them out and say that Maria at the front desk is by far the nicest person you could ever possibly deal with. When I arrive this time not only did she have everything we needed ready but she remembered me and asked about my wife who was not traveling this time. those are the little thing that make a difference!
Right in the heart of the old town, the Golden Roof is just round the corner, and all the shops and restaurants are in easy walking distance. The hotel rooms are very clean and comfortable. Good wifi.
We stayed for 2 nights in December to explore the Christmas Markets & mountains. The hotel is approx. 15 minutes by car from the airport and the location could not be better, 30 seconds from the Golden Roof and right in the heart of the markets. We arrived early and our room wasn't ready, but our bags were stored and were waiting for us in our room when we returned later in the day. We had room 411 which is on the very top floor, the views were amazing! Mountains from one window, the Golden Roof & markets from another. The room itself was well equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, plenty of towels and extra blankets, it was also completely spotless. Breakfast was varied and the eggs cooked to order. Every member of staff we came into contact with was super polite and helpful and I would definitely stay here again!
We stayed here in our first night through Austria. Reception was great and after driving around the main square 3 times trying to figure out where to park (Altstadt garage btw) we called and there were extremely helpful on the garage location. Room was extremely clean and fairly big for Austria. Bed was comfy and while i was a tad concerned on our room location (right above the market vendors) it was actually very quiet. Location couldn't be better. You're with 30 seconds of the golden roof and dead in the middle of the markets. We didn't get a chance to try out the restaurant since were only here one night. Only negative is that since you're in the city center you have to park and walk but its a 2-3 min walk and really not an issue at all. Overall id actually rate this a solid 4.5 star hotel, but since TA doesn't do half stars and after our hotel in Vienna I'm going up to 5 rather than down. The helpful staff and location puts it over the top. Tips, park in the Altstadt garage which is directly under the main Xmas market and bring you're parking ticket with you for reduced fare when you leave.
We were three couples taking in the lovely Innsbruck xmasmarket (which is just outside), the weather was lovely and there was early snow so we were possibly biased However this little gem convinces one as one of the dying breed of Austrian family run town hotels- with the owners there literally from morning till evening to see to their guests lacking nothing And it doesn't Nicely refurbished albeit smallish rooms (we had standard peaking in their superiors they much bigger) especially the bathrooms which are well equipped (grohe raindance showers etc) and nice toiletries; comfy mattresses even air conditioning Whilst we did not eat there the breakfast served was nice with good choice of local produce; even their own brand fizz available well prepared coffee and nice bread Service whilst stressed and appearing a bit short very effective and still taking time to smile What could be done differently? A few more choice on tea (they have one darleeing and the rest all fruit infusions)and perhaps not to have the butter on ice in the winter The downside of the central location is that if you like me like sleeping with an open window you hear lots of noise at 3 when the last clubbers go home; at 5,30 when the trash cans are emptied and then deliveries start; perhaps try to get a room to the inside of the hotel Bathrooms in standard rooms can be perhaps claustrophobic for some or unsuitable for those with a disability Great place and good value
Hotel location - perfect All staff from front desk (Sabine & Maria) to Thomas in the restaurant were amazing, friendly, happy, helpful - very professional, remembered small details. Our classic dbl room #204 was lovely, bright, light, warm, soundproof. Very comfy bed & pillows lovely linen. Tea/coffee, kettle, small fridge, room safe( very easy to use) Bathroom had a shower, all amenities, generous fluffy white towels. Buffet breakfast was good - usual European, cold meats etc fresh pastries, cereals, fresh fruit & eggs cooked to order We ate dinner twice in the hotel restaurant - very good menu & wine list - I am a fussy picky eater and was spoilt for choice. Highly recommend this hotel & restaurant If ever I return to Innsbruck I will definitely stay here
Situated at the gates to the Old Town this hotel could not be in a better position, given that it has also always been a hotel since its erection in the 1300's its also extremely well versed in looking after its customers (even, I believe, in an early life one Amadeus Mozart). Over the years it has, obviously, been refurbished carrying all modern amenities but this has been completed with a great deal of TLC and an eye for maintaining the character of the building itself. On top of the building you add a group of people, the staff, that are some of the friendliest and most helpful people you could wish to meet, and that goes for the reception staff, the restaurant staff both breakfast and dinner and the cleaning staff, and you have a perfect combination. Our room was not the biggest we hard ever stayed in but it was, for a 4 day break, big enough and had everything we needed with sufficient storage, both hanging and drawers, a safe, a writing desk, a fridge a very large comfy bed and a very modern stylish bathroom (room 302). The hotel also boasts one of the best restaurants in Innsbruck and we did eat here one night and was not disappointed. The food and the service were both superb. However if you do want to venture out to other restaurants the top 5, as shown on TA, in Innsbruck are all within walking distance and 3 of them within 200 yards, so you are spoilt for choice. While we were staying at the hotel it was also the start of the Christmas market and that was just the icing on the cake, and it started right outside of the hotels front door, we couldn't ask for better. A great hotel with great staff in a great location for sights and restaurants and shops in the Old Town, what more could we ask. Superb
We totally enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Wonderful location, impressive rooms, friendly staff and a great restaurant. Everything was simply perfect and we will definitely stay here when we return to Innsbruck.

Nice classic kitchen with a very nice wine selection. Recommendable place in innsbruck for classic tirolean lunch or dinner. Very nice location in a classic basement with a beautiful scenery. Excelent service too
This is a very nice hotel. Our room was comfortable and big enough and the windows looked over the old town, in which the hotel was located. We were particularly impressed by the shower. It was a nice walk-in shower with both an overhead and a handheld spray. In the bathroom was a stool which I took into the shower; I sat and washed myself with the handheld spray. This was as nearly perfect a shower as I have seen in a hotel. There were numerous electrical outlets and switches. In one case an outlet that we wanted to use was controlled by a switch which also controlled some lights, which we found to be inconvenient. The ladies at the front desk were very helpful, but sometimes they were mobbed by people checking in or out. The breakfast was good, but the woman who helped us had no English, so we had to rely on my halting German.
When you walk out of the hotel the sights you see are amazing Your steps away from the Golden Roof along with plenty of the other "things to do" here on TA. For those driving to Innsbruck the Hotel will provide discount parking at the Innsbruck Altstadtgarage by Marktplatz. The room we had was a basic room nothing special. The one thing we noticed was both the room and hallways in the hotel are kept very warm. In our room after turning down the heat we turned on the A/C to make it a bit cooler. The hotel does provide a limited breakfast We both liked Innsbruck its not too big so it easy to get around. We only wish we we could have spent a couple more days to explore the city and to take in more of the incredible views. Maybe next time...
We booked this hotel as it was far less expensive than the other one's we found on-line and it seemed to be in a better location than some of the other ones anyway. We didn't make a mistake! The hotel is great. Nice rooms, great staff, good restaurant but the biggest selling point is location, location, location! Try it, you'll like it.
awesome hotel that epitomizes old town Innsbruck. Every place is walkable even the train station. Although a bit of a hike. This is close to restuarants and stores. Rooms are small but clean and bright. Breakfast was outstanding. Everyone was helpful at the hotel. Highly recommended. For a central location, it is very quiet at night.
We arrived a bit frustrated...well very frustrated...as our GPS was not helpful in guiding us to this lovely historic hotel right in the heart of the pedestrian area of Innsbruck...more on that later. The young lady at reception did everything possible to welcome us, accommodate our needs and get us settled in our lovely comfortable room which had everything you could need in a room from cleanliness to a comfortable bed, crisp linens, lots of towels, good shower with water pressure and hot water, inroom coffee etc. Wish I had her name because she went above and beyond! Explore the different floors of the hotel which each have their own decoration in keeping with the style and history of this location, and don't miss the interesting stairwell decoration on the way up from floors 1 to 2! The breakfast room and restaurant are on the main level and are very cosy and warm with the decoration and arched ceilings. Breakfast was one of the best with a good selection of cold items and the option of ordering eggs from a menu of about 5 options, as well as the selection of different coffees. Very nice touch. Hotel location is perfect for taking in the Aldstadt and other places of interest. Parking is available about a 5 minute walk away and although the hotel suggests they have special rates, I did end up paying the full rate as we exited. My fault, perhaps, for not inquiring on how to access a lower rate as it is a public parking that you are directed to. Now for the GPS...the directions will take you to the start of the pedestrian street, not to the hotel as cars are not permitted other than certain morning hours. The hotel is not at all far from the street entrance. We parked in a loading zone and ran with our luggage to the hotel entrance. You can apparently drive in, even if all signs say no, to drop off luggage but we were not aware. And it was a busy busy Friday night with wall to wall people so not sure how we would have managed. but we did manage as we left on a quieter Sunday morning. So...hard to get to but well worth the effort!
The best is how well located the hotel is right by the Golden roof in old town. The rooms are clean and the only complaint was by 6.30am you can hear the noise of truck at the square unloading etc. The breakfast is continental but you can order eggs.and cappuccino. The restaurant is quite popular too.
Beautiful hotel, Friendly staff and nice rooms. Location is superb...but a bit noisy at night since many people are celebrating in the old square. Innsbruck is a beautiful city that inst overrun by tour groups. Many nice restaurants within easy walking distance.
Our second visit to this lovely hotel was just as enjoyable as our first. We asked for, and were allocated, the same room as on our first visit, even though we were only staying for two nights. As previously, the reception and breakfast staff were friendly and helpful. There is a good breakfast buffet and your order is taken for hot food - so much better than in hotels where the routine scrambled eggs have sometimes been left to congeal for hours. The hotel is full of character; I love this place, and the price is reasonable, especially when you consider its location. It is small and obviously doesn't have five-star facilities like a swimming pool, but it deserves five stars because what it does do it does really well.
Old building in old town! Modernzing of the facility is effective and tasteful. Rooms are well equipped and comfortable. Staff is excellent. Breakfast buffet first rate. No on-site parking - about a 5 minute walk to old town parking facility where hotel deal is 10.90 euros per day. Possible to drive to hotel to drop off luggage.
If we ever came to Innsbruck again, or had to recommend a hotel to anyone, we'd have no problem choosing the Hotel Goldener Adler. This accommodation was just great for us. First, the location is terrific. It is just the best. We stayed a full five days in Innsbruck, and it is right in the Altstadt. Many tourist sights are in the Old Town, so this is a “no-brainer”. But still, there are touristic attractions elsewhere in the area too and the location was still good for catching other transportation. We bought the 3-day Innsbruck Card and it was absolutely worth it. The Nordkettenbahn and Swarovski Krystallwelt will pay for it alone. Transportation is also included in the card, or you can get a 24-hr pass on the hop-on bus called “Sightseer”. It will take you most places you'd want to go. Back to the hotel itself, every staff member was totally friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and spoke fluent English. This includes the waitstaff in their excellent restaurant. We had dinner 3 nights in that restaurant and were never disappointed. The menu is not huge, but everything chosen by the 3 of us was a success. Breakfasts are a very complete buffet, plus cooked eggs to your liking. Also, various coffees are available by request (e.g., lattes and cappuccinos). We had a rental car, so we were concerned about driving up to the hotel and parking it. Cars are allowed at any time for drop-off of luggage at the hotel. This is a pedestrianized area after 10:30 am, but we had no trouble driving in at other times. You just have to watch the pedestrians obviously! Parking is about 2 blocks away, and the hotel provides a reduced rate if you give them your parking card. You actually pay parking to the hotel. Our rooms were 301 (single friend) and 304 (me and my husband). Although the hotel is a very historic and venerated establishment, Best Western has seen fit to upgrade and modernize it, of course. The room was very comfortable, although there isn't really a view except to the building across the alley. There was a desk with 2 desk chairs, but no where else to sit. It worked out for us. You can't miss choosing this hotel.
This hotel is even better than a typical BW, as it is an old building, in the heart of the old city. The staff is helpful, and one young woman helped me find a hotel in Munich, my next stop for two nights. You have to walk down the stairs and around the hotel as it is remarkably decorated. All the staff at the front desk was courteous and helpful, and the manager gave me the same rate for the second night. Innsbruck has a lot to see and I recommend two days. You can walk to the train from here, and they have a very nice breakfast and dining area.
Hotel Golden Adler is in a perfect location, only meters away from the Golden roof and the old town centre, the staff could not have been more helpful and the room was very clean and cosy. Only issue we had was street noise and that was on the top floor, but this was only a minor issue. Over all I would highly recommend this motel
The good * Beautiful hotel in an historic building in the centre of Innsbruck * Good rooms with comfortable beds, though one person in our party was not comfortable in their bed * Separate bathroom and toilet * Powerful shower * Good WiFi * Parking is available at a nearby parking station at a reduced rate * Nice restaurant within the hotel The bad * Some noise from delivery/garbage trucks in the morning * Glass door on toilet was a bit off putting. It should at least contain frosted glass. * Some issues with managing large numbers of guests at reception at busy times. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Innsbruck, especially if they were after a hotel in the middle of the old centre. The building with the golden roof is less than 100 metres away.
The location in the old town is excellent with almost everything including the Palace, the museums, the restaurants and the start of the funicular within walking distance. Although it is in a pedestrianised area, taxis will drop you and collect you at the door. The staff, particularly on reception, are lovely and the hotel is truly historic yet the rooms are updated recently and good quality. Someone in a previous review commented that there was limited room in reception to rest and plan your day but in fact there is a room at the back of the hotel which can be used for that purpose (also with a chess set etc.) There are a few little points of detail that would have led to 5 stars rather than 4 on my rating. You may have to grab someone to order the (excellent ham and eggs for example) cooked breakfast when they are busy. The bathroom light in our room could only be switched off by turning off the main overriding light switch, there was no signal when we tried to watch TV and there was little consistency in what was provided as complementary tea bags. But overall I would definitely stay there again and heartily recommend it to other travellers.
In the heart of Innsbruck, great service, great rooms, great breakfast. Dates back hundreds of years but has all modern facilities, perfect center for seeing tyrol.Seefeld and Iglis are both worth a visit .
Cafe and restaurants are just downstairs. This hotel is two mins walk to golden roof. Very clean and high standard. Breakfast is below average, the omelette is very salty for our standard. We did not see the basic items for breakfast such as bacon, eggs and sausages. They provide discounted parking but it's a bit far from the hotel around 300m. Overall we had a good experience and will definitely stay here again.
The hotel is located in the Old Town and the area around it is pedestrianised, though taxis do pull-up right outside the door. The room was great, complete with a very comfortable bed, decent bathroom with shower over the bath, kettle/drinks in a hospitality tray and fridge. Also a free digital safe. Though the hotel is part of the Best Western chain, it has lots of character and is very clean. The reception area is fairly small, and the included breakfast is taken in the restaurant just opposite. There was a decent selection of breakfast items, and most days (would have been nice to have been asked every day) I was asked if I wanted an egg with my breakfast. I ate at the restaurant one evening and one lunchtime. The food was very tasty, and reasonably priced. The 2 ladies who I encountered on reception were very pleasant and helpful, one even left her post to pop outside to tell me that the taxi driver anticipated being 7 minutes late! If you need help with any sightseeing, the reception folk are happy to give you a tear-off city map overmarked with directions. The only slightly negative comments I can make are that the complimentary drinks tray wasn't restocked daily, and on arrival there were 2 used shower caps still hanging in the bathroom. The key fob lift security thing was good, but the computer for residents use on the 2nd floor wasn't working when I attempted to use it. All in all the hotel is a great place to stay, and was ideal for my needs. I would certainly stay there again should I find myself in Innsbruck.
When we were planning our trip, I wanted to stay away from the big chain hotels. This hotel had it all - friendly staff, great included breakfast and a comfortable quiet room. Right in the center of the old town and an easy 15 minute walk to the train station. The staff was great answering my question by email as to which rooms were on the quiet side of the hotel. That worked out great. Fraulein Maria at the front desk was so friendly and helpful and gladly spoke to us in English. One bonus, at breakfast, eggs cooked to order.
Stayed two nights in Sep 2017. Wonderful experience from check-in to check-out. The very friendly reception staff really went out of their way to please and ensure that everything was fine. The quaint rooms on the highest floor (4th) were clean, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was good too although the variety was somewhat limited. We had a great dinner at the restaurant though. The ambiance was very nice (it felt as if you were dining in a castle!), the food was delicious, there was a good selection of wines, beers and spirits and the service was great too. Centrally located at the heart of Innsbruck's old town and just a stone's throw away from the Golden Dachl (golden roof), the city's most famous landmark, and within walking distance to all the sights, attractions, shops/shopping areas and F&B outlets. The river Inn and a bridge across it to the foot of the mountains is only about 100m away and the station for the funicular train that takes you up to the mountains and the Alpine Zoo is only about 300m away. The train station is also only a 10 mins walk away. Would highly recommend staying at Hotel Goldener Adler to everyone visiting Innsbruck!
Stayed here recently for 4 nights and totally loved this hotel. Beautiful, historic property with well appointed rooms, AC and a nice restaurant onsite. Staff were very friendly, answering every question, giving advice and trying their best to make your stay an enjoyable one. Housekeeping was consistently good and wifi was reliable, your phone picks up signal as you approach the hotel entrance. The location can't be beat, on the nicest street in the historic center. You could sit outside and watch the world go by. There are many good restaurants and cafes that are very close to the hotel, including the amazing Thai Li for superb Thai food. Keep in mind that this hotel (and the historic center) is a bit far from the train station, which means you have to to make the 20 min trek or take a taxi to get to the station. The included breakfast was just okay, perhaps a bit on the boring side. On the other hand, we had dinner at the same restaurant and it was very good. Unfortunately, there's no space in the lobby to sit and rest for a bit or plan an outing, etc. There are two large armchairs on either side of the reception desk. It would be best to put two smaller chairs next to each other, or a small bench so you can sit with family or friend and be able to have a conversation. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, kudos to the excellent staff and management at the Goldener Adler, especially the very kind and friendly reception staff.
Although it's on a busy street, the rooms are very quiet and completely soundproof. There's also a nice safety that to go up the elevator you must be a registered guest. Your room key will allow you to go up the elevator. I was only there one night and chose it for the location. Staff was friendly and I was able to check in early and check out late. You can leave your luggage at the front desk which I did but I would prefer if they had a system to ensure that no one takes your bag by accident. They locked them up and trust you will take the correct bag. I would prefer that they be a check and balance system. All in all a very comfortable hotel.
We stayed at the Goldener Adler for two nights in May 2017, had the room under the roof. It was raining most of the time we stayed in Innsbruck, which is a shame, since it is a beautiful historic town. But on the other hand, we didn't have far to walk to restaurants and historic sights. And some of the streets have arcades, which protect against the rain. There are a couple of tiny "stores" for emergency food and water just across the street. The disadvantage of the hotel is that it is located in a pedestrian zone and one has to park in a small underground parking garage or on the street, which means you have to drag your suitcase through the street. But otherwise, the room was comfortable, and the breakfast was ample. Very small lobby.
Very convenient hotel close to many tourist attractions; Golden Roof is about 100m away. Reasonably close to the station - about a 15/20 minute walk mainly through pedestrian only areas. The hotel was very clean and the staff friendly.
We had to park down the road though and carry all our luggage across a busy road in the pouring rain which wasn't ideal though. We also had to sit wait till a car to leave as the general carpark we were directed to was full so had to wait for space. The hotel is of a good standard and the check-in process was quick & easy. The lady who was on reception was very helpful. Unfortunately though as this hotel is in the middle of the tourist run the very small bar and restaurant are overwhelmed with people not staying at the hotel that there is no space for us when we wanted to have a drink at the bar. This is despite large areas blocked off and empty. A different lady on reception this evening was completely unhelpful when I asked about opening more space. Not sure I would recommend this hotel if you like to sit, relax & read a book at the hotel bar or if you are unable to carry all your luggage. Not sure I would stay here again.
I wrote a long detailed review of my experience at the Goldener Adler which TripAdvisor declined to publish for unclear reasons, so here it is again in brief format. The Goldener Adler overcharged me 12euro on a booking I made through booking.com. They refused to refund it when I asked them to. When I threatened to refuse the charge on my credit card they agreed to the refund. Avoid this place. They tried to overcharge me. They might do the same to you.
HotelGoldenerAdler, Inhaber at Best Western Plus Hotel Goldener Adler, responded to this review
Dear Daniel M. once again thank you for your feedback. We would like to make clear that we do not overcharge our guests! As you already mentioned you booked via Booking.com was a non refundable rate. We charged your credit card for the amount you booked. We charged the amount in your currency and not in Euro's with our credit card terminal. We should inform you so and it was our mistake we made. As a goodie we offered you the Minibar for free, you declined. Once again we feel very sorry for that circumstances but avoiding our nice hotel because of that is not fair. Hope to see you the next time when you in Innsbruck. Please contact us directly under [email protected] Thank you, best regards Thomas Hackl Owner
Given the constraints of working within a historic hotel they have done a good job of updating it with great amenities and furnishings while maintaining the character and charm. Although the room was not that big it was very comfortable, the staff were lovely and the location is perfect. The breakfast was good, (have had better), but our waiter was so charming and obliging after making a mistake with our order on the first day, he totally won us over.
This is a beautiful and quaint hotel. The location is perfect and the staff is so warm and welcoming! The breakfast was included and it was delicious. If you let them know in advance, they will make gluten free bread. It feels like a true, historic Austrian hotel. Loved it!
We stayed for two nights and can't recommend this hotel highly enough! It is really central so easy to access everything and the staff were really friendly and welcoming. Even the breakfast was great! It has a great mix of the traditional with a contemporary twist. Please don't hesitate to stay here.
We recently stayed at the BW Plus Goldener Adler and loved it. The hotel is very historic, but our room was equipped with all the modern appointments. The location is in the heart of Innsbruck and could not be located better. The breakfast was very good with eggs and meats made to order. Lovely outdoor restaurant outside the hotel where you can enjoy the sights and sounds of the city. We loved it and would definitely stay here again if in the area. Highly recommend!
A five star hotel for three star prices. Ideal location in pedestrian zone. Innsbruck is great base from which to explore Tyrol by car or train. Great skiing and hiking. The room was lovely, beautifully furnished, functional, excellent bed, solid Wi-fi, well lit, quiet. The restaurant is very good; the breakfast buffet one of the best we have experienced. The staff are brilliant--helpful, friendly, knowledgable. This is our second stay and we are as impressed as we were on our first stay. All this in a historic hotel where noble and famous people have stayed over hundreds of years. Super staff Excellent restaurant
I have to admit I was concerned to learn that this was a Best Western rather than a "home grown" hotel. But my concerns were misplaced. The Goldener Adler is beautiful, comfortable and right in the center of town. Our room was clean and well appointed. The breakfast was great with lots of choices. We had dinner at the outdoor restaurant that is part of the hotel and the food was wonderful. They didn't rush us and we spent a good part of the evening drinking, dining and watching all of the action -- including a marching band on the plazza.
We stayed a very agreable two days at the historical Goldener Adler. One of the major asset of this establishment is it location in the midst of the old town. Everything we wanted to see was within walking distance. The traditional double room was a fair size for an urban hotel and recently modernized. Lovely bathroom. Friendly, informative staff, Another lus was the copious, delicious breakfast with plenty of variety. This was the perfect place to stay to discover and explore all that Innsbruck can offer. Would certainly come back again.
We spent a weekend here in June and had a great time. The Hotel is ideal for those wanting a taste of Austrian tradition, but who also like modern facilities. The room was lovely, staff all very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast is all you need. The location is hard to beat, within 5 mins walk of all the main sites, and the cable car station to the Alpine park. If you arrive by train the hotel is a 15 minute walk. We would definitely stay here again.
Four of us have just returned from a seven night stay in The Golden Adler. The hotel is in a great position in the beautiful old town and is within an easy walk (around 20 mins) of the main station. You are never short of a restaurant or café within a few minutes walk and the atmosphere is great. The bedroom was large and comfortable although, we felt, in need of updating, especially at the price charged per room. We had the deluxe rooms. The two bedrooms were slightly different and it was difficult to understand why one had a dressing table with mirror while the other had no mirror at all except a long, thin one, on the cupboard just inside the door, which was very inconvenient. Beds were very comfortable. Towels changed every day. The hotel staff were polite, helpful, and very pleasant and, when a problem arose with our air conditioning, the receptionist sorted it out immediately and without fuss. We were moved to another room (which had more updated furniture and fittings in bedroom and bathroom). The breakfasts were plentiful and good. On the whole, a lovely hotel with some rooms needing a little modernisation and decoration.
Lovely old hotel with friendly reception. Kind of quirky, but with the modern comforts and all the little things have been thought of. Very handy location, walk outside to lots of restaurants, or it's not far for a trek up in the hills. Very nice!
Pros: 1) super convenient location. Right in the heart of the old town and a stones throw away from all major attractions. 2) decent size room. Not very big but not super small like others in Austria. 3) good breakfast spread. Cons: 1) parking. U have to park in the garage and drag your suitcases till the hotel! Good thing is they refund your parking fee. Overall - pleasant stay, nothing amiss - would recommend.
This is a beautiful hotel in the old section of town. It took about 20 minutes to walk to the hotel from the train station. There was a laundromat and a hop on hop off stop just 5 minutes from the hotel. The streets around the hotel were full of shops and restaurants.
We have enjoyed our four night stay in the hotel, it's great location, history and staff. We have rated the hotel significantly below Trip Advisors' very strong rating. This is because of an idiosyncratic problem with our room which was 408. But for this we would rate the hotel highly. Room 408 is apparently underneath the hotel's commercial washer/dryer. In the washer/dryer's spin cycle the room shakes and your ears suffer from the pumping of the air. The room really is not habitable when the unit is in the ending of the spin cycle. Management was responsive and wanted to accommodate us on when the unit was run. Basically it appears to operate through the day. During our stay the washer/dryer operated between 9 am and 5:30 pm when we were in town so no problem. However, during the several times when we were in the room between 9 and 5 we had to leave due to the discomfort. I'm sure there are issues with accommodating modern cleaning machinery in an historic, older building. We are sympathetic to that. The hotel's historic nature is the essence of the hotel's charm and a big part of why we stayed here. Nevertheless, a fix better than the scheduling of essential hotel washing clearly seems to be in order. Thanks.
The hotel is very conveniently located in the old part of town. It has been a hotel for many years and the rooms each are named after famous visitors, including Mozart and Austrian emperors. Parking is not straightforward, as it is in a pedestrianised area. You park in a local parking garage with quite a few steps, so best to drop the luggage off before you go to park. The rooms are very comfortable and the front desk were helpful. The one downside is there is no bar or lounge area to sit and relax in. As we were 4 adults travelling together, it would have been good to have somewhere to sit together at the end of the day.
This hotel is in a great location, right in the old town and an easy walk to all of the main attractions. It is an old building with a lot of character. There is parking available not far from the hotel but we could unpack our bags right in front of the hotel. Parking is also at a reduced rate. The reception staff, in particular Maria, was very helpful. We knew when booking this hotel that the rooms were small but we were still very surprised at just how small they were. The room was quite cramped with barely enough room for our bags. The room was quite clean. There was a reasonable selection at breakfast but the food was not high quality. In fact some of the bread and cakes were not even fresh. We have been in Germany and Austria for almost 5 weeks now and this was the most expensive hotel we have stayed in. Unfortunately it was also the hotel with the smallest room and the worst breakfast so overall although we loved Innsbruck we found the hotel very disappointing.

After the previous night this hotel was a wonderful way to end our 2nd day! Warm friendly helpful staff! The room was spotless - larger in size than typical and came with all the "required" items. This is a wonderful hotel - and we would highly recommend to anyone visiting Innsbruck
This hotel is located in old town Innsbruck and it is a gem. It is a nice cozy, warm hotel with everything you could possibly want. The employees were extremely friendly and helpful. The beds were extremely comfortable and the room was very quiet and looked out over the cobble stone street. Breakfast in the morning was good and had quite a bit to chose from. The only drawback was the parking. They do not have parking and we did not know where to park. This was inconvenient because we finally found an overnight lot a couple of blocks away and had to lug our suitcases from there. The hotel does offer a discount parking rate for it though.
Wanted to return to Innsbruck after almost 30 years when my wife and I lead a ski tour to Austria. Wanted to stay in Old Town so we decided on the Goldener Adler Best Western. We were not disappointed. Rooms were clean well appointed modern and the warm towels were a nice touch. Rooms had air conditioning even though it was 4 degrees Celsius. Had a nice breakfast in the restaurant typical European breakfast of breads and meats. Also had a choice of eggs and bacon. Being in Old Town has car restrictions park in the public lot underground across from hotel Innsbruck. Drop off your luggage before you go underground could not find an elevator so had to carry it up two flights of stairs. Cannot say enough on how much we enjoyed this place. Wish I could pack up the bed and take it home ...it was so comfortable. We had room 103 it was great was in front overlooking the Main Street of Old Town.
On an unplanned stay in Innsbruck I can honestly say I could not have stayed in a nicer hotel. It is lovely and the location is fantastic in the old town. My room was gorgeous too (the mountain views were stunning). But above all it was the staff who were attentive and very accommodating (not knowing how long I needed to stay, they kept my room available and extended my stay as and when needed). Travelling alone, I felt very safe staying at this hotel. Many thanks and I hope to return with my husband in the future.
This is a historic hotel where famous guests, from Habsburg emperors to Buz Aldrin and Jean Paul Sartre, have stayed over the centuries. Although a Best Western, it's apparently under family management and retains its charm and character while being fully modernised. Rooms and bathrooms are excellent, with very comfortable beds and bright bathrooms with separate wc (though separated from the bathroom by a glass sliding door). The hotel is ideally situated in the old town moments from the Golden Roof and many shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. This is a pedestrian only zone great for aimless wandering. At night a few individuals walking past or coming out of bars can make a lot of noise, sometimes quite prolonged, for such a quite place - but if you keep your windows closed, this blocks it out completely, if at the expense of fresh air. We only used the restaurant for breakfast, which in terms of the buffet was adequate but unexciting (certainly by American standards). But on request they will rustle up some hot food like ham and egg omelettes, which are very good indeed. Most reviewers have spoken of the excellent welcome here so I think it's only fair to say that ours was rather less enthusiastic on arrival. Things did improve a bit during our stay and other staff on reception were helpful and welcoming - as were the restaurant and bar staff.
My teen daughter and I stayed here at the hotel for a week in 2015. From the moment we arrived the staff were very helpful and happy. The hotel is quaint and full of tradition. Rooms were comfortabke with everything we needed. The hotel is in a great location, within the old streets with many good restuarants nearby with an easy walk to the bus, post office, sites and river. The breakfast room was a little quiet and formal but the food was good. I would definitely recommend to all travellers.
Second time here and what a great hotel this is! Absolutely central in Innsbruck and one can just walk straight out into the old town. The staff cannot be more charming and helpful. The room was very comfortable and clean with a large bathroom and coffee/tea making facilities. The best thing perhaps is that prices are so reasonable for an excellent hotel. Even got an upgrade from single to double room but having stayed before, can confirm that single rooms are also very nice!
The hotel is charming with a very nice restaurant, I had booked a single room which although was a little small was fine and clean. The location could not be more perfect within a few meters of the Golden Roof and the rest of the old town, parking is a 5 minute walk away and costs 10.60 euros for 24 hours.
Fantastic hotel in an unbelievable city! First experience was the most amazing receptionist! She was wonderful and very helpful. Walking right out into the Christmas markets was an amazing experience; cannot fault the hotel except for the bed. Not to our taste, but clean. Nice bathroom, water leaks out everywhere but lovely little soap bottles. Beautiful restaurant with very quality breakfast.
The hotel is located in the heart of the old town, and very close to the river. The room was very comfortable (although a little small), but the hotel has managed to retain an old world charm. I would recommend dinner at the hotel's restaurant - it was one of our best meals in Austria.
Ancient building right in the heart of Innsbruck old town. The interior has been modernised of course but a few nice original features remain. The room are nicely decorated with modern bathroom and comfortable bed. The breakfast was good with a selection of the usual hotel stuff. Fresh cooked eggs available on demand and coffee was freshly made. The staff were particularly friendly and helpful. Thoroughly recommended!
Stayed for one night. Good location, about a 20 minute walk from the train station. Hotel had a good, historic feel to it. Had dinner in the restaurant for convenience and good reviews. Way overrated. Breakfast was ok, but as others have noted, you have to ask for everything, like coffee and refills. Room tip: We booked a deluxe room and asked for a quite one. Our room faced the courtyard with a clear view of the room across the courtyard about 50 feet away. While this had potential of being a good voyeur's situation for both parties, it was not for either. The smell of wiener schnitzel cooking included at no extra charge. Closing the window fixed this. Opt for the rooms on the street. Had we stayed longer I would have asked for a different room. When I mentioned this at this desk the woman said I should have asked to change rooms and she would have gladly have done it. My bad.
Classic Old Austrian Hotel, revamped with the necessary modern conveniences. Very friendly front desk, nice sized rooms, comfortable beds. Breakfast was very nice and the one dinner we had there was friendly and good as well. The location is terrific! I look forward to staying there again.
Sharing the steps of Mozart.... great hotel in an iconic position in the old Innsbruck city center, had the privilege to get a view on the Golden roof. Rooms are not big but it's OK when you know that ur in the medieval city. Stuff is pleasant and even talk French ??????
We highly recommend this hotel. There room was beautiful and spacious with a great bed. The hotel has AC which isn't all that common but is necessary these days when the city gets hot. AND they have normal sized showers so you can actually turn around while washing. The only downside was that we had weak wifi in our room and had to find just the right spot (not in the seating area) to do anything. The breakfast staff are 'on the ball'.
A two night stay in the old town area of Innsbruck at the historical goldener Adler hotel. So many famous people have stayed there over the years they have plaques on the wall outside listing them. The hotel itself is well preserved and interesting with all the artifacts of yesteryear, combined with now meeting the needs of the modern traveler. The super efficient check in was much appreciated for weary travelers to hastily make for a relaxing snooze in a very comfortable and warm room, modern bathroom added to the pleasure, The location is idea for exploring the old historical parts of the town. Dinner at the restaurant was good and room service very efficient when needed. Highly recommended for anyone wanting an upmarket experience in a great location.
We recently spent 4 days at the Golden Adler in Innsbruck! Great hotel, perfect location in the heart of the old city! Perfect to walk everywhere! We hiked over a he hills, enjoyed the many restaurants and small city atmosphere. Room, service and breakfasts excellent
Stayed here for 2 nights and loved our stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. We arrived really early and even if check in was only at 2pm the receptionist made sure to call and request for our room to be cleaned. Rooms were modern and clean... enjoyed the bathroom radio. Best of all the hotel has great history!
This hotel is a gem right in the nicest part of old town of Innsbruck. The architecture is amazing, room sizes are generous and the team is helpful. No parking, since it's a restrictive zone for cars but there are alternatives nearby. I took a 3 beds room and the price was good as well. Try it out.
My husband and I had the good fortune to stay at the Hotel Goldener Adler in September. The hotel is located just on the edge of the pedestrian-only area, near the river and within walking distance of all the major attractions in the city. There is public parking underground a short walk (4 minutes) away, as the hotel does not have its own. Our room was lovely and spacious, with ample room for luggage and souvenir storage. The bathroom was also huge, by European standards, with a WC separate from the wash room. We had an oversize, walk in shower which was a real plus for these seniors. The towels were a beautiful red and very plush, and there were face cloths, not normally seen in European hotels. The on-site restaurant was very good, and the breakfasts had many choices with eggs prepared to order, if desired. This was a very happy choice of places to stay while enjoying Innsbruck.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Innsbruck. The Goldener Adler is ideally situated, as their website states. Professional photos are also surprisingly accurate. Service and staff were great; meals (dinner and breakfast) delicious; room, bed, bath and amenities comfy. Our room (2nd floor) was across from the elevator and there was no noise. The windows open and overlook the street. (I don't know if it would be noisy in summer, but it was fine in late September.) It was a standard double with a foyer and separate bath; plenty of closet space. Dinners were well-priced, and they had no problems when we asked to share rather than order two orders. Breakfast was buffet, egg dishes were prepared to order. My only caution is make sure you're not overcharged by the taxi (15 euros rather than 10) but that was our fault. (I expect the desk would have chased down the driver had we told them!) Overall, you can a wonderful time.
Not only is the location amazing, the staff is the most helpful staff I've ever encountered! The rooms the views, the views and the staff are top notch!! An absolute must in Innsbruck don't stay anywhere else!
Amazing hotel in the heart of Innsbruck, just steps from the golden roof. Our hotel room was beautiful, with breathtaking views from all angles. The staff was great and so helpful from beginning to end. No task was to big or small for them, and they were so nice! The food in the restaurant was some of the best we had in all of Bavaria. Would highly recommend staying at this wonderful hotel if your looking for real Innsbruck charm in the heart of the action.
This is the best hotel we have stayed in. Modern interior with all the beauty of an old building. The room was spotless & clean with an incredible bathroom. No bath/shower combination which was great. We only stayed one night which was not long enough. I would definitely stay here again, staff were very helpful & friendly.
Beautiful old hotel in a spectacular setting. Even though hotel is old the rooms are newly decorated with comfortable beds and modern bathroom. Breakfast is lovely with a large selection. Would highly recommend this hotel for a lovely stay in Innsbruck.
Imagine my surprise when the taxi pulled up next to the historic building right between the river and the Golden Roof. My hotel! You could spend the entire day simply looking at everything in the hotel. You can also not find a more efficient and helpful staff. The location was excellent. I ate in their restaurant and tried local restaurants nearby. It was an easy walk to all of the main historic museums and attractions. I heartily recommend it.
Recently stayed at this hotel in Innsbruck on a journey from Venice to Munich. By far my favorite hotel of the entire trip! The location is great and the rooms are large with a ton of character. The staff was also excellent.
Very accommodating helpful staff, quiet, comfortable spacious room. We had room 308. NOTE: if driving and need parking the hotel itself does not have parking. It does have arrangements with ALTSTADT public parking on street Innrain #4. A 7 minute walk from the hotel and across the street by the bridge. Go there before checking in because if you try to go into the pedestrian area where hotel is located you will have a hard time turning around in order to get to the parking lot.
I can't say enough nice things about this hotel... First of all, it is a beautiful, historic building that is so quaint and charming, it was a delight to see how pretty the hotel lobby was upon our arrival. Our rooms were reasonably priced and very clean. The hotel is located right in the old town area of Innsbruck. Using that as our base, we were able to walk everywhere that we wanted to visit. Breakfast there was one of the best I had on our trip. They will cook eggs to your order and have a big selection of other meats, cheese, fruits, breads, yogurt, cake as well as specialty coffee, tea, and sparkling wine. Finally, I have to acknowledge the great customer service I received there. I accidentally forgot my prescription sunglasses in our room when we checked out and when I arrived at my next hotel, hundreds of miles away, I was sick about losing them. Fortunately, I contacted the Golden Adler and they had not only found my glasses, but they actually went to the trouble of packaging them up and mailing them to my next destination in Vienna. I am very thankful for the honesty and helpfulness of their staff. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay there next time I visit that lovely area.
This historic hotel is perfect walking distance for eating, shopping, and walking in beautiful scenery. The rooms have great bedding and comfortable pillows. Shower is great with a variety of music piped into the bathroom !!! If you are visiting Innsbruck this would be my recommendation.
A great stay in a perfect location. Very high class property and is the highest class Best Western I have ever visited. In the heart of the old city, the Deluxe Rooms are not your average "small" European rooms. Modern, and larger sized rooms with great quality fixtures. 100% recommend the stay!
I have not yet stayed there, but am just swept away by their customer relations policies! Our Schengen Visa did not come through and we could not make it. Despite the fact that our booking stated that we would be charged, the management was kind enough to give us a complete waiver! I am already a fan!??
During our 35th wedding anniversary, we stayed at Hotel Goldener Adler; as we were looking for a hotel that was close to the shops and souvenir kiosks. This hotel is located right in the heart of the shopping district; a pedestrian only area. The rooms were updated, comfortable and well laid out; and the food is absolutely delicious. The parking is one and a half blocks further (only downfall). The hotel's biggest asset is the staff, especially the front desk, as they are attentive to details. Natalie and Ildiko were helpful in all aspects. Natalie is able to converse in 5 different languages, which is helpful for tourists. We were not disappointed with our stay, and the fashion we were treated. We highly recommend Hotel Goldener Adler/Innsbruck.
Amazing hotel right in the old town of Innsbruck. Great staff in the front desk. Nice restaurant on site. Nice breakfast. Very nice room with a great view of the mountains and river. Stayed here 3 nights in early September. Bought a 48 hour Innsbruck card at the tourist office which was a great deal and used it to the maximum. Innsbruck is a great place for history and alpine mountain scenery.
We recently stayed here for three nights. We had a very comfortable stay! The taxi dropped us off at the hotel, and I was surprised to see how great the location of the hotel was! Right on the old town! In a very old building too! We were early for check Inn, which the receptionist told us not too worry they stored our luggage until our room was ready. We were also given a map of the town with a bunch of must do ideas. The Innsbruck card was a great deal. This little wait gave us a chance for lunch at the hotel resturaunt. Lunch was great, very flavourful, and the apple strudel was the best I have had in Germany or Austria so far! After lunch our rooms were ready and we were happy to learn that our bags had been brought to our room. The room was very spacious, there was air-conditioning. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was nice and clean. I'm not sure if there was parking as we arrived by train and then taxi. The drive was about 10 minutes to the train station. A little more if there was traffic. We also walked once to the train station which only took about 20 minutes. The only downside for us was we were slightly confused when it was time for breakfast. There were a bunch of cold cuts and cheeses, yogurt, cereals and breads. What confused us was that we weren't sure if there were eggs or anything else included in the breakfast package. We did ask and we did get eggs, but it was confusing for the first time. Past that we would both stay here again without a doubt! We would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a good hotel in a central location!
Location cannot be beat, very friendly and helpful service too. Water pressure for shower great. It was a little tricky to find, as our cab driver dropped us at the end of the street facing the golden roof. Rooms were a little small, but had ample storage so we could organize. Breakfast was wonderful - we had one lunch there too that was delicious and offered great service. You can buy your Innsbruck card from the front desk. Highly recommend for your stay in this beautiful area.
The historic Hotel Goldener Adler located right in the heart of Innsbruck was amazing. We really loved this hotel! Even though the hotel is historic, the rooms are updated. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant and the food was great. The breakfast included your usual items. They also served eggs on demand, i.e. omelets, boiled, etc... The front desk was excellent! We used Innsbruck as a home base. We visited Zugspitze - the highest peak in Germany. We also visited one of the nearby Alpine Therme. We traveled by car and parking was an issue. The hotel is located on a pedestrian road only. The staff did help with the language. I highly recommend this hotel!
I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The front staff are amazing. You have to see it to believe it. The food was very good. It is in a beautiful location . Within walking distance to just about everything. The setting of the hotel with a view of the mountains was breathtaking
Starting when we arrived, Ildiko was just fantastic, never greeted so warm and friendly! She insisted on carrying by bags, most hotels you have to beg for help. Parking was easy, just drive into the pedestrian area and check in, then they give you parking directions( one block away) secure underground with a discount, this hotel has the best location in Innsbrook, out our window(room 411) we were looking at the Golden Roof, probably the only hotel room in Innsbrook with this view, 100 feet from the Golen Roof, 150 feet from the city tower, 200 feet from. St. Jacobs church, no way is there a better location in Innsbrook! Customer service is beyond good, it's great! Breakfast was good with eggs cooked to order, great selection. This location along with the service they provided is unbeatable, I don't know how anyone cannot be thrilled with this hotel, shopping is right out the front door, wife did plenty of that. We will return and reserve room #411 again!!
The hotel is recommended who wishes to experience town centre as well as a historic hotel. The hotel has been renovated so the room that we stayed in was modern and convenient. Breakfast was ok. Reception hospitality was the best. All in all I would say that it is a 3-star hotel. A little far from the train station.
Really enjoyed our stay in Innsbruck. The staff at the goldener Adler were so friendly and helpful, giving us tips on things to do and where to go and also very helpful in storing our bags on our last day before we left. Room was comfy and breakfast excellent.
Just steps away from one of the more interesting squares in Innsbruck, this hotel fits in a category I am making up: quality gemütlich (or maybe this is a category in German already, it is a language good at describing this kind of thing). The Goldener Adler is cozy, homey, and everything is very good quality. It has been in business for centuries, and has retained the most enjoyable aspects of its historic building, and upgraded the rest for moderns comfort and convenience.
First things first, although it is a historical building in a prime location in Innsbruck this is not a luxury hotel, so I will evaluate it considering its category. Location couldn't be better. Front desk service was incredibly warm and friendly. Rooms are spacious, clean, and welcoming. Breakfast is included in the room rate and offers a good range of options to choose from. On the down side I would say that bathroom ammenities are very basic, internet connection on top floors is barely inexistent (although the hotel offers free wi-fi, I could hardly get any connection during the length of my stay) and bed and pillows were too soft (but that is a matter of personal taste). But overall, I had a very pleasant stay at the Goldener Adler, and wouldn't hesitate in returning.
The pros: Beautiful very well maintained hotel just in the middle of the Old City. Friendly and smiling staff, perfect cleanliness and good breakfast is everything you need for the perfect vacation in Innsbruck. The cons: The bathroom and toilet are in the same room that made of non-transparent glass walls. It's quite unusual, but can be a little uncomfortable because the door is also made of glass and you cannot close it tight.
I often travel around the planet for work so I have a good calibration marker. This hotel had the most luxurious hotel room I have stayed in Europe starting with the above sized extremely comfortable King-sized bed, gorgeous raindrop shower and stunning decor. The TV had a mysterious missing channel, no BBC World which I have never seen before in Europe, a big missing item. The restaurant had very attentive waiter for dinner, but the menu both for dinner and breakfast was disappointing given how good the room was. Suggest you go elsewhere for dinner. Breakfast is ok but service was grindingly slow...
We have used this hotels restaurant a couple of times when visiting our daughter and partner in Innsbruck, for special meals. The staff are very welcoming and friendly, and the interior finish is traditional, as is the menu we understand! The food and service are excellent....white linen tablecloths and attentive and knowledgeable waiting staff!
excellent location in the middle of the center of the city. very good room, staff and service, would recommend this hotel for a city trip to Innsbruck, innsbruck is a great city and the hotel very well facilitates a stay in this city
We really loved this hotel! You are in the heart of old Innsbruck when you stay here. Maria at the front desk was excellent and handled everything we asked of her, whether it be which innsbruck card to buy or which restaurant to eat at she knew what we wanted and delivered! The hotel is charming with a real key for your room and a full perfect breakfast every morning. We used the small grocery store across the street and the laundromat across the river and needed nothing else because everything we wanted to see was just footsteps from our door. There is no need to stay anywhere else Innsbruck is all yours from the Hotel Goldener Adler!
Visited tonight and although crowded managed to find us a table . Weiner schnitzel was so tasty and cooked to perfection. Phillip gave us such great service and highly recommend this restaurant to all visitors to Innsbruck Noticed most tables were taken and there were lines waiting but they soon managed to get through the waiting patrons .
This hotel was amazing. It's so old and beautiful but our room was so updated and modern. Even so, it retains some old charm from the centuries the hotel has been in business. Our room was a corner room from which you could see the goldenes dachl and watch all the tourists walking up and down taking photos. The room had hardwood floors and really luxurious carpet for a hotel-- which may be a strange thing to notice but it felt good on very tired feet! The bathroom was very clean and had a radio in it so you could listen to music while taking a shower in the HUGE and luxurious shower. Breakfast was great. One tip- don't look for a Best Western Plus sign when you're trying to find the hotel- it's quite small, just look for the Hotel Goldener Adler. We walked by it twice trying to find it!
Lovely Tyrolean food in the restaurant and best possible location in the old town. Very helpful staff all speaking English, wifi works and everything is super clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay there again.
Truly enjoyed staying here. It's all about location, location, you know the rest. Most Americans will think the rooms too small. It shouldn't be an issue a you really don't spend that much time in the room. Breakfast is very good. Be sure to have it included. The restaurant serves a fine dinner. One tip, the wine bar/shop just 30 steps left of the front door.
The hotel is ideally situated in the heart of the old town very near the golden roof. The room was a good size for a city hotel and recently refurbished. The staff were all friendly and very helpful especially at reception. There was a good variety for breakfast. We ate at the hotel restaurant one night and the food was very good. This was an idea, hotel as a base to explore the city.
We stayed three nights in this hotel, 5 - 8th July). We had some difficulty in parking close to the hotel in order to unpack our bags, so we had to travel round the town a few times before we eventually figured out that we could drive down Herzog Friedrich Strasse) so make sure you don't do that as we wasted at least an hour of that day ! Always good to read through as many TA reviews as you can, we didn't notice that someone else had mentioned the same thing, and I'm sure we'll not be the only ones who do this! Once we had met the lovely receptionist (Ulli), she told us what to do and that helped calm us down. She is a very friendly person. All the receptionists do a good job, but she was just wonderful - warm and helpful and helped make our stay a great one. After the parking issue, we basically had a wonderful 3 night stay at the hotel. The location is perfect and the food is tasty too. A great breakfast was on offer and we had one evening meal in the hotel which was very tasty. The wine portions (1/8) are a bit on the small size and not cheap and service was a bit slow in the restaurant, but overall we highly recommend a stay in this hotel. Thanks to all the staff at the Goldener Adler. We'll be back!
Stayed here for two nights. This is a great value hotel in a quiet position in the heart of the pedestrianised old town, just a short distance from the Golden Roof. The staff are very friendly and helpful and allowed us to keep our room beyond the checkout time, as our train was after midday. The room was very clean and the breakfast was substantial, with excellent coffee and with eggs and bacon cooked to order. There was tea and coffee in the room, but it was not replenished for our second night. Plan to return next year.
Great hotel for a couple of days to visit main attractions in Innsbruck. Only a few paces to Goldener Dach and the 'Old Town'. Very comfortable, friendly and helpful staff and restaurant with great kitchen, try the steak tartar and wash down with a fine Pinot Noir - we were lucky with weather and ate outside, but inside very comfortable too, Room simple, on top floor, but very comfortable to overnight which is what you are there for. Check out Bar 360 degree for great views over city and get up the Nord Kette to the top by cross for even more magnificent views on a nice day !
Recently my husband and I spent 2 nights at the Goldener Adler. The hotel is in an excellent location in the Old Town of Innsbruck. This is also a very touristy section of the city with many shops, restaurants, and bars. We found the hotel very convenient to many of the attractions--it's right near the Golden Roof and close to the palace and St. Jakob's Church. It's also close to the river with a bridge where you can cross easily to the other side where there's a nice park. We found he staff at the hotel very helpful and the breakfasts were very good, plentiful, and had everything you could want. Our room and bath were good-sized and very clean. I would return.
From the time you step into the hotel you are in 1390 settings. The people who work there dress in traditional costumes, the breakfast is great, service is outstanding. A lot of famous people have stayed here through h hundreds of years. They have plaques outside showing the people who spent the nights. Rooms on the small side but didn't take away from the hotel. Right in the middle of Old Town.
Just stayed 3 nights at Goldener Adler. This is second stay here. It is so quaint and you get the real feel of Innsbruck. The hotel has such character and our room overlooked square. Breakfast was included too. Room was large and had sofa bed for our son. Couldn't be more centrally located. We walked from train station 10-15 min. Used Innsbruck card that they sell right at front desk for all attractions.
A Historic hotel with very big modern rooms. Very good wireless. Very good breakfast (though they could have asked if I wanted eggs straight at the beginning). I was worried I would hear noise from the street, but the only I could hear were birds.
Where to begin, I suppose it would be with the front desk staff who were the kindest, most helpful and hardworking staff I'd seen in years after visiting many other hotels. They spoke beautiful English and were wonderful at assisting us with navigation around Innsbruck, recommending sites to visit and excellent restaurants. Breakfast was included with our reservation and it was typical European (deli meats, cheeses & wonderful breads along with mueslix, yogurt and fresh fruit). Eggs are prepared to order and the coffee has the strength to make sure you're not missing out on anything in your day. The room was breathtaking and so large for a European hotel. We were blessed with a corner suite overlooking the promenade and although you could open the windows and breathe in the fresh mountain air, we had one day when the temp reached 85 degrees and were grateful for the excellent air conditioning. Bathroom was beautiful with a "bidet" and large shower/tub combo. Not one complaint just praise for this most wonderful hotel (where Mozart also slept), best location ever and most welcoming helpful staff ever!
From the friendly reception to the comfortable, spacious bedroom, the Goldener Adler is a sheer delight. The historical building, furnished in Tyrolean style, provides the most modern of facilities without compromising on the very traditional and local style. Breakfast is a superb buffet and in the evening the restaurant provides excellent food. Service in every part of the hotel is personal, friendly and efficient.
Built in 1390, this is considered as one of the oldest hotels in Europe. It's located conveniently at the heart of old city and is walking distance to almost all the attractions. The rooms are modern and comfortable and staff is very friendly. This is located in the pedestrian zone but can drive up to the front door for luggage loading and unloading.
An extremely well positioned city central hotel which needs patience and nerve to reach by car, but well worth the effort! It is an extremely friendly, clean and smart hotel with an excellent restaurant. Our room was very comfortable and quite large with views on to the pedestrian areas of the city. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional. I have no hesitation in recommending the Goldener Adler. Parking is in an underground car park which is close to the hotel and there is an simple arrangement for discounted parking.
Beautiful old hotel, with modern touches. Loved the location. Parking was close by. We parked in the Altstadt garage and walked to hotel. Reception was very friendly. Room and bathroom were both very nice.
I booked this hotel based on trip advisor and was so happy with our stay. My boyfriend and I arrived and the woman at the front desk was very helpful and let us know our room was upgraded to classic suite. She told us the room was newly renovated. The room was beautiful with views of the alps and very modern and very clean. Everyone at this hotel is very friendly and they have done very well to make this a beautiful hotel In a very old building. I wish we lived closer so that we could visit more.
Currently enjoying my second stay since last August at this wonderful new discovery. They do so many things right at this small (39 rooms) hotel located in a 14th century building. The customer service is fantastic. I was greeted by name when I arrived even though it had been 10 months. Rooms are more than comfortable, they're like cocoons that you don't want to leave. Air-con works like a champ and the bathroom is super with my room having a rain shower plus wand. I always request a quiet room, and these face a tiny inner courtyard which "who cares?" because I go to my room to relax and to sleep not to gawk out the window. Breakfast is a peaceful, calming experience with a lovely and broad selection from the buffet plus eggs to order. Try the Tyrolean ham with eggs, delicious! I had dinner here as well and the food was good. I'm already booked to come back in a couple of weeks and looking forward to it! #privatetoursineurope
We stayed in top floor Main Street-side room the Saturday night Croatia beat Turkey in Euro2016...celebration lasted until dawn, but with air con and windows closed was no problem. Economy room smallish, but updated and well-appointed. Staff VERY hospitable and went out of their way to pack sandwiches for our 0430 departure! Would definitely stay again.
This hotel was a delight. From our initial reception to our departure five days later we could find no fault. the room was very good, we had two excellent dinners in the restaurant, and the central location could not be bettered. Very good value for the location, service etc. especially at reception.
The ride to Innsbruck took from the suburbs of münich 1 1/2 hours. No traffic problems. Great! We decided to take a short extended trip because thursday was a holiday in germany. What a great decision. Making a stop in Wattens and Hall. It was good to know that the hotel was only about 5 walking minutes from the public parking garage at the beginning practically of the pedestrian area. Great location. Plenty of restaurants and shopping. And by being a guest at the hotel we paid only 10 euros per day for parking. Upon arrival at the hotel a very nice receptionist and a nice smile greeting us. She explained every in detail. She even gave me a shaving set when i told her later that my husband will become a werwolf overnight if he could not shave. ??. The room was comfy and very clean. The amenities ok. Oh but...no shampoo. But you can ask for some things if you forgot something. Around 11 pm you could hear the restaurants putting away the chairs and stuff. But the noise was over in no time. The restaurants were set up nicely. Outside one and two areas inside. We liked the cozy one. The other was used for the breakfast room. Great 'wiener calf schnitzel' and the next day i had to try the 'wiener pork schnitzel'. And also a 'ragout' from i think to remember ...deer was very good too. Other days we chose to eat out of the hotel. Breakfast was plenty there. I ordered my omelet with bacon. The cook though has to learn to fill the omelet up alittle more with the ingredients because it was too flat and i had to look for the ham, onions and cheese. But what i got was ok. During those few days we were served by a very, very friendly waitress Sanja. THANK YOU FOR YOU SERVICE AND SMILE EVERY MORNING!! This hotel is a historic hotel. Very interesting to read about the noble people who stayed here in the past.
We had a wonderful two night stay in this charming hotel in the historical center of Innsbruck. The staff was friendly and efficient, and they made us feel very welcomed. The hotel is well situated in the pedestrian area where walking is a pleasure. The views of the mountains was delightful. I would recommend this hotel for its location, service, and cleanliness.
Excellent location, room, staff and restaurant. Well worth their rack rate, jump on it if you can get it on special. I managed to get one night at the Goldener Adler at a special price and it was the best hotel in our six week European holiday. My initial emails were replied to very quickly in a friendly manner, and all my questions were answered. When we arrived we found the hotel is in a lovely old building and is smack in the middle of old Innsbruck within walking distance of basically everything. The lady on the front desk was very welcoming and helpful and I found we'd got exactly what I'd asked for - a room with a view (411). There was a lift and we got a room right up underneath the roof. It was spacious (enough room for two large suitcases and hand luggage) and very lovely, with windows peeping out over the lower roofs, and a view of the Golden Roof just down the road. Had the weather been better we would have had a view of the mountains too, rather than just clouds. Lovely bathroom, clean and a good size with nice toiletries. There was also a rooftop garden for when the weather is good. We ate in the restaurant and it seemed very popular. Not surprising as the service was excellent as was the food. Prices were not too bad either. I don't often say it but this hotel was a home away from home - warm, cosy and extremely well-appointed, with really superb service. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
We just stayed here for three nights. There are lots of pretty, very nice hotels, but the staff here makes The Golden Adler an exceptional and outstanding experience. A very special shout out to Anna, Maria, and Daniella - we miss you!!!
We really love this hotel - the staff, cleanliness, and location are excellent! When we first booked the hotel room, we had called and asked for a room with a view. But when we arrived to the hotel all rooms with good views were taken so they put us in a very tiny room with hardly any view. The next day, someone had cancelled their reservation so the staff was able to move us over to the new room which was larger and it had a much better view - the food at breakfast was very good - great selection of different kinds of breakfast foods - they even made us eggs to order! All in all, a great hotel and we would definitely come back again!
What a lovely hotel. It has a 600 history as a hotel, but has been tastefully modernised to today's expectations. Lovely friendly staff, fabulous breakfast - where else in a hotel of such moderate cost would you help yourself to prosecco and smoked salmon. It is only about 20 metres from the Golden Roof - right in the heart of this lovely city.
I recently stayed for three nights (18-20 May 2016), my fifth stay in as many years so I guess that says it all. Nothing is too much for the staff who are very friendly and informative, giving guests a wonderful Austrian welcome. The hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of the Old Town, and its decor is in keeping with the area's historic character. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the food served up at breakfast and dinner is first-rate.
My wife an I loved this hotel. Great location, extremely friendly staff, spotless room, comfortable bed, great included breakfast. Would stay here again. It is in the heart of the lid section of the city. Plenty of great places to eat and drink nearby. We were on the top floor. The hotel is a great mix of old world charm and history with modern conveniences.
Beautiful historic hotel with large, for Europe, rooms. I stayed there for work for five days and really enjoyed it. Would definitely come back. Terrific breakfasts and very friendly helpful staff. Centrally located. There's a fair bit of noise in the old city at night but with windows closed we were fine.
Staff was very friendly and very helpful with places around the area of where to go and what to do! We had a room that was a bit bigger than other rooms and it was amazing! Best hotel that we stayed at with traveling through Switzerland and Italy. My only concern was the toilet had a door that was see-through, other than that all was great! Location was perfect walking distance to restaurants, bars, shops and touristy things
We chose this hotel as it is in the “old town” of Innsbruck. Although it is only a 15-minute walk from the station, with bags it was more practical to pay the €5+ for a taxi. The hotel is in a beautiful 15th century building which has been delightfully converted and maintained. The history associated with this hotel was amazing and the decorations and plaques around the building helped us understand its historical relationship with Innsbruck. A lift services all floors however some rooms may feel compact, lack space for an open bag and the occasional doorway may be tight. The bathroom was very comfortable due to intelligent layout, design and smart use and placement of fittings. You may miss TV channels in other languages. We included breakfast and enjoyed the Austrian style variety available. The service was friendly, very helpful and as good as any 5 start hotel. We ate in their restaurant enjoying everything…the good range of wines, beers and food. Overall we were very happy with our room, price, service and location and would definitely choose this hotel again for our next stay.
My husband and I just stayed in Hotel Goldener Adler for two lovely nights. We highly recommend that you stay here! The hotel has a great location in the middle of Old Town but is easily accessible right across the street from the parking garage that the kind hotel staff had told us about when we were planning our trip. The sweet young lady at the desk when we arrived was so very helpful and welcomed us very warmly. The staff were all very friendly and remembered our names when they greeted us. Our room was on the second floor and we could even see a mountain from our window! The room was lovely and the bathroom was awesome and modern! We really enjoyed the wonderful bathroom! We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast in the restaurant very much. We had many food items to choose from the buffet and we also ordered eggs made to order. The servers were all extremely nice and great at their jobs! We also ate lunch outside at the restaurant one day and the food and service were wonderful! We highly recommend Hotel Goldener Adler which is right in the heart of Old Town with everything so easily accessible that you would want to do there! We would go back there in a heartbeat!
The Hotel is strategically located in the old town. Just a few hundred meters from the Golden Roof building and the Imperial palace. Also a short walk from Maria Therese main square. Room was spacious, very clean and the service excellent! Trivia - Mozart stayed here too! We would come back.
Hotel is right in the heart of the hospitality area, very good rooms, very good food and pleasant staff.Dining can be inside or outside. As the location is generally a pedestrian area, the worst feature of the hotel is the beer lorries can do their deliveries any time from 6am, so you may need to get to bed early to get a proper nights sleep. Room 209 was fab room with views in two directions
Having arrived from a long journey from Asia via Munich and then changing trains quickly we arrived to a warm and very welcoming reception area. First of all a big thumbs up to all the ladies at the reception area, they are for me the reason the hotel is so greatly appreciated. Always smiling and always ready to answer any questions. We didn't even have to tell them our room number every time we needed the key from the keydrop. This is the definition of great service. We got a corner room on the 2nd floor with an incredible 4 windows sill looking out onto the main square in 2 different directions. Again I can't thank the hotel enough for giving me such a room. It really enhanced my stay. The room is spacious and very well appointed. The only thing I didn't like is that you cannot adjust the temperature on the thermostat, so we ended up opening the windows at night which allowed us to experience amazing cool breeze that alpine Spring draws in. Being a weekend the first night the street was a little noisy and our open windows offered little protection Amazing location. Couldn't be any better. Close to the streets where cars can slightly drive into the pedestrian area to drop u off and 2 minutes walk from all that's worth seeing in the old town Breakfast was very nice with made to order eggs and cappuccino along with a nice continental buffet All in all very grand. I write this as I am about to check out and I really don't want to leave
We stay three nights .Excellent .The staff is very helpful lthe rooms ok and clean .The service very good they prepare us a breakfast to take with us because our flight was early in the morning. ok. choose a nice room ,all the rooms are not the same.
What a beautiful hotel in a perfect location! We enjoyed our stay here. Parking was available in a lot about 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Our room for three was very large, with a large bathroom and full tub. The breakfast was wonderful and served in a beautiful dining room, at a formally set table. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone lucky enough to be staying in the beautiful town of Innsbruck!
Teh hotel is located right in the heart of Innbruck. Parking is 200 away, not so convenient in bad weather. Breakfast is nothing to write home about, and so is the Internet. The major advantage is the LOCATION
Gluten free food? No problem! Late checkout? No problem! This hotel is historic and gorgeous, the location is brilliant, but it is the staff that are standout fantastic. I travelled with my daughter and granddaughter who are both coeliac, and I had emailed ahead to ask if anything gluten free could be available for their breakfasts. We walked up to reception to book in, and were greeted by the biggest smile and a list of things the gorgeous young lady (whose name I'm unsure of) had found for them to eat. What a lovely welcome! We booked dinner in their restaurant and were welcomed by the maitre'd, who having not seen us before, was already aware that we would need gluten free food - and offered four or five choices of main course. My daughter was so excited she couldn't believe her ears. We were shown to a lovely window table, they were made to feel so special and important, and we had the nicest evening. We've stayed in a lot of nice places, and I don't often do reviews, but this little hotel is truly special - stay there if you ever have the opportunity!
The Goldener Adler was the perfect place to stay in central Innsbruck. Rooms were adeeuate but it is the history of the building that I chose to stay. Breakfast buffet was great and even had gluten free options. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Nice hotel, great Central location. All staff very helpful quick to resolve any problems. Continental breakfast good didn't have evening meal as menu not to my personal taste. Room was a very good size wonderful shower after miles on the mountains.
This hotel is well located in the centre of the city and in easy walking distance to most attractions. The rooms were clean and comfortable and with reliable wifi. The breakfast was more than adequate. We found the staff to be quite enthusiastic and keen to help with any inquiries. "Nathalie" (?) was superb, ever helpful and enjoyable to deal with. Highly recommended.
A great hotel at the heart of the city center. Building is old but very carefully renovated in a way that maintains its architectural character. Room was clean though a little bit small. Staff very friendly and helpful. Free WiFi access.
At first was concerned about location but amazingly centrally located hotel. The Golden Roof is about fifty meters away and hotel is right in the middle of the Aldstadt (old town). Had dinner in the restaurant and had asked for gluten free option. Very nice waiter had a whole list of meals. The dessert was lovely as well. Breakfast buffet was great for gluten free also. Staff were very helpful and nice. Love this hotel but Aldstadt is rather small and if you want to stay in the old part of Innsbruck you should probably have a short stay.
We stayed 4 nights in this Hotel and it was fabulous (we did a split location holiday so spent 2 nights at the start and 2 nights at the end of our holiday here) The rooms we had were very well appointed and comfortable. The staff could not have been more helpful or friendly, they were absolutely first class and made my young son feel very welcome and at home (thank you!). The location is fantastic for seeing and getting around Innsbruck, and a stone's throw from a number of great restaurants. And whilst it was in the busy old town it wasn't too noisy at all (when comparing to other cities we've done similar holiday's in). There was a fantastic selection of goodies for breakfast and the quality of the food was excellent. Would highly recommend this hotel.
It really depends of the tariff you can get, so the quality/ price value is variable. The hotel is in the historic center, so that's great. The restaurant of the hotel is very good, although there are some tourists (not only Americans...) that speak very loudly...
Nicely refurbished rooms; friendly and helpful reception staff; internet that works; perfect location; nice breakfast; and a decent in hotel restaurant - what more can one ask for! We invariably stay here if overnighting in Innsbruck. This is a historical building so all the rooms are different - worth asking the hotel before you book.
Stopped here as a single traveller en route back from Selva, before flying out. Very comfortable room with an excellently appointed bathroom on the fourth floor, although did hear the couple in the next room returning at 3 am! Buffet breakfast was very good and of course the setting in which it is served is stunning. Will certainly use the hotel again when in Innsbruck.
We stayed here for four nights and it was a good choice. The staff bend over backwards to make you feel at home, are both welcome and extremely helpful. The breakfasts are great - full buffet in the dining room with choice of eggs so no lunch needed! The rooms - we had the classic, which is a teeny weeny bit on the small side but had everything you needed. If you can stretch, I would go up a grade. The bathroom is part of the bedroom but glassed round. When you turned on the bathroom light, the fan came on and it was quite loud. If you have to get up in the night and hit the loo - your partner will be woken.... You cannot fault the location, right in the middle of the old town with everything in walking distance. They have a deal with a nearby car part at around 10€ per day, which is reasonable. Our room 412 overlooked a small courtyard and there was no noise.
Very friendly staff Good cafe and breakfast Building has great character being circa 1500s. Room itself is clean and fairly well size, and has obviously been refurbished between the 1500s and now AMAZING location right in the centre of town Would definitely recommend
Stayed one night. Rate ok and the room we got for it was indeed very spacious and tastefully appointed though some parts need replacing (mainly in the shower). The location is great - right in the middle of the old town; perfect for a walk but less perfect if you get there by car. They have spacial rates with a nearby underground parking but no reserved spaces. That can get very tight if you arrive on a busy day. Would make sense to have some spaces reserved for their clients exclusively. We had lunch - great menu both in terms of choice and quality. Service was very friendly and efficient. Staff at front desk equally friendly - they were of great help as we needed some short notice arrangements in town. Slept very well as the bed and pillow is very comfortable. Breakfast: the pure disaster. Staff is simply not able to manage this. Tables not ready; buffet half empty and replenishing of almost anything does not happen unless you ask several times. When pointing certain items out, the reply you get is rather "cheeky" and it still does not happen. Quality and choice is rather poor. Whilst they label their food items; you still get carrot juice by pouring a glass of what is allegedly pink grapefruit juice. That is very regrettable indeed as breakfast is usually one's last "stop" in the hotel and the last memory you take away from your stay because of that leaves a rather unpleasant after-taste of the time there even though we were happy with most of the other services. One possible solution to this: ask some of the mature and experienced staff (that are also there for lunch) to take care of breakfast rather than only two youngsters that are overwhelmed by the complexity of properly managing breakfast. We also noticed on the previous day some of the breakfast staff being equally over-challenged with some minor requests during lunch (such as getting us the bill).
We recently stayed at the Goldener Adler for 4 nights. The comfort of the room, the staff, the offerings at the restaurant, the location of the hotel were all first class. We were very pleased with our stay. No wonder it consistently rates #1 of all hotels in Innsbruck. The front desk staff were all very warm and helpful. We enjoyed our room with its various amenities. This is a place with over 600 years of history and yet having all of the most modern conveniences. We particularly liked the location. It is steps away from the Golden Roof and all of the attractions around. If you have a car, it is a bit of a walk to the parking garage. We will stay here again.
It was my first time at this hotel. The staff was extremely friendly, they took mu luggage and guided me to the nearesr parking garage. I needed more room for my suit and tie - they moved me to a bigger room free of charge, brought me an iron and ironing table and were extremely friendly
The hotel is very well located. All of my criteria were satisfied. 1. Great location. 2. Very frienfly, helpful staff. 3 room was comfortable and adequate. 4. Breakfast very good. A couple of points to note. Our bed was rather firm almost like a board on springs. But I dont mind that. We had an interconnecting door which enabled us to hear the neighbours...but they were quiet and didn't disturb us. Actually we could open the door and walk into their room. Not good for them. Staff quickly locked the door when I told the staff... so just check this if u get that. Overall a great hotel and they really try hard.
You can practically touch the golden roof from the front door of the hotel. Welcoming reception area and the staff were quite helpful. Beautiful bar area and breakfast room, and they cook eggs for you to order at breakfast which is a nice touch! I thought the room was nice but nothing special, and unfortunately our drain smelt when the shower was run. Overall a lovely hotel in amazing Innsbruck location. The restaurant looked amazing and If I am in Innsbruck again would like to try coming back for dinner.
We were very pleasantly surprised at this accommodation. I had concerns because it is a Best Western hotel but I have come to understand Best Western's assets in Europe are a cut above what you find in the USA. This hotel is not high end nor posh but it is very comfortable and in a great historic building. Very centrally located with a lot of restaurant options nearby. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Fantastic breakfast. All in all a reasonable value. We would stay here again and have no problem recommending this hotel.
I recently stayed here for 2 nights with my wife and young son on our brief trip to Innsbruck. I could not fault the hotel in any way. the staff were all incredibly helpful and welcoming. Daniela helpful arranged airport transfer for us which all worked very well. the room was spacious and comfortable with a big bathroom and walk in shower. breakfast was plentiful and of very good quality and the waitress at breakfast was helpful and attentive and the cappuccinos were to die for ! the hotel itself is a lovely old building, loads of character and this carries on through the hotel. location wise its perfect. right near the river and a short walk to the Hungerburg funicular and to the Allstadt and shopping areas. I would highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely be staying here when we next visit Innsbruck!
I selected this hotel based on location and quality. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves here. The hotel staff were very helpful and the room met our high expectations. We enjoyed both a dinner here and of course the breakfast buffet. We would definitely stay here again.
We stayed right before Christmas and the Hotel literally was in the middle of the Christmas market and in the pedestrian zone of Innsbruck. This is the only reason, the hotel gets a 4 out of 5: It is really hard to reach. You have to drive into the pedestrian zone to drop your luggage and then park in a public parking garage, that was super crowded, because of the great location. Hotel staff is extremely helpful and polite. Rooms combined a modern style with traditional accents. Breakfast was included in our rate.
Yes, we stayed here again this year and were not disappointed at all. Couldn't think of a better place for a Christmas holiday: the mountains, the Christmas market, etc, etc. Feels great every time. Worth mentioning the hotel's staff, they really make you feel at home. Outstanding here Daniela from the front desk. A true dynamo, who never tires to answer any question that guests may have. Truly outstanding.
We got there at Christmas but no snow. If your a skier or not this is a great location. In the middle of the old town. You could easily walk to the funicular that goes to the ski lifts from this hotel. Can't think of a better place to stay, lots of old world charm, but still modern rooms. We used the Innsbruck card and used the buses to see the sights. The card also lets you go up the gondola to the top of the ski area. If I ever comeback I'll stay here.
This is a lovely, old hotel on the edge of the old town. Reasonably priced and with good facilities and excellent service. The hotel is steeped in history with an impressive guest book of celebrities and royalty. We only stayed one night but wouldn't hesitate to return.
Great Hotel in excellent location. From start to finish of our stay at the Hotel we were really well looked after at the reception and in the restaurant as well. We eat one night in the Restaurant and would have again if I was not drawn to the Bier Keller!! The room was spotlessly clean as well. Innsbruck and this hotel in particular were great for a short winter break and we loved every minute of it.
An Innsbruck hotel couldn't have a better location. Service orientation from all the staff - perfect. But the interior and the rooms would be well served with a harsh eye to eliminate the way too much stuff that is in the halls, and a fair bit of it of no historical or antique value, really. My bathroom was brand new, but the furniture all seemed to have too many scratches and fatigue. A single visiting for 2 nights, I was surprised to be put into a room with no window (or, rather, one that looked out onto a wall) when the hotel was clearly not full. Breakfast is very adequate, though the egg offer came well into my having breakfast - and clearly no eco-eggs being served. In summary, great location, comfortable stay as such, but I felt a tacit desire to get out a duster and paintbrush.
It´s hard to take credit away from this hotel. I would recommend it. We were very well taken care during check in, a staff member named Maria was fast, spoke clear English and smiled the whole time. The hotel is cozy, showcases tradition all over the place, it´s full of details and is very well kept. The location is wonderful. However, I am unable to give it the higher score because of the big upset we had during checkout. The whole matter was caused by a receptionist named Nathalie. Besides being poorly presented and looking unhappy at all times, at a given moment she asked me to sign an extra bill written in German, without even bothering to explain what I was about to sign. She just positioned the piece of paper and waited for me to sign it, and when I finally pointed out weirdness of that situation (have in mind that we were speaking English 100% of the time @ the hotel), instead of translating she bitterly said: "It´s in German, you are in Austria". Right there I started to loose my good will. After a few arguments, I was told that it was my son´s room service bill (perfectly fine), but she kept on being ironic and holding an attitude, until the point I had to put her in her place. Truth be told, after I decided to ignore her and asked to speak with the manager/owner or whoever was in charge, I´ve received a reasonable deal of attention from a young man that was said to be a member of the family that owns the hotel. He even offered to walk my luggage to the car with me, showing knowledge about the main aspect of his business: the customer. I truly wish that on the backstage he gets to summarize the whole matter to two single facts: speaking English is not a plus, nor a favor, and a staff member at a hotel should always preserve the customer´s atmosphere, care for the well-being (and sometimes customers may be wrong, as we well know). A tip to those who are driving: pay attention because the Golden Adler is located in a sort of pedestrian area of the Old Town (your GPS will probably say that you cannot access the area). After spinning around a couple of times, I decided to leave my assistant and my son in the car and walked there to ask. No hassle: they told me that there was possible to enter the sort of pedestrian zone and stop at the street right in front of the hotel for a few minutes to unload the car ! Unfortunately, the final parking is at a public parking nearby (you´ll have to walk back and forth) and the area where you unload the car is outdoors, so in case of rain or snow expect an upset right there !
We were extremely happy with our 3 nights stay here! Located right in the Old Town, it was perfect for restaurants, shops, & a short trip from the station, trams & other transport nearby. The Hungerburg funicular railway to take you quickly & efficiently up the nearby Nordkette mountain range is a short walk away. Whilst the winter seems to be warmer than usual (still cold to us!) & there was no snow in the town, a short ride up the mountain & there was plenty of snow & it closed in & snowed on us whilst we were there. There were great views before that too. The staff were incredibly helpful, & always bright & friendly. Breakfast was more than sufficient. The room was very nice indeed, very clean, bright & modern. Very comfortable beds. The rest of hotel was more old worldly, & interesting. We ate at the restaurant one night & enjoyed the meal & the atmosphere.
My friend and I arrived the hotel on the Dec 23, it was not our lucky day. Both of our luggages lost in transit and My friend lost his passport on the way from airport. Fortunately, the receptionist, Maris and Daniela were super helpful. They kept calling the luggage tracking hotmail and guided us to the nearest police station opened during xmas. Our luggages were delivered to hotel on the next day! We had the perfect stay in this hotel, it has a historical exterior but the rooms are clean and modern. Service was excellent and location was increditably convenient to the old town. It would be better if there is complimentary water provided in the room as all shops closed when we arrived the hotel. We also had their Christmas dinner on Dec 24, the waiter gave good advise on the wine choice at reasonably price point. It was a pleasant stay despite all the hiccups we encountered upon our arrival. We'll definitely come back with our next visit in Innsbruck!
A delightful family run hotel offering great hospitality and rooms. The public areas are delightfully Tyrolean in style, so offer plenty of character. We'd hoped to book a deluxe room but were only able to get a standard - it was perfectly adequate, though a little on the tight side, and had a very nice bathroom - and being on the top floor, lovely views of the mountains. I imagine if we'd been able to get a deluxe room, we'd have been extremely happy in it. Daniella at reception is an absolute treasure - and has a lovely sense of humour too. Maria is also very helpful. The hotel is located on the old town square, so you are really can't get more central. The only element that let this hotel down and stops me from giving it a five star review was the service in the dining room at breakfast time. It took us a day or two to figure out that we could ask for coffee and cooked breakfasts! The dining room is open for breakfast until ten, but if you come down at 9.30 you will find most of the food gone and not replenished, tables cleared and not reset, and the waitress in a fairly foul mood. Such a let down in an otherwise lovely hotel. As an aside, we had Christmas Eve dinner at the hotel and it was a really lovely meal.
We are an American family of 4 and stayed in the adjoining rooms #403 and #404 for a week over the Christmas holidays. The hotel was great, the staff was great, and we loved Innsbruck. It really did feel like home and Daniella and Maria at the desk were very helpful and always smiling. Thomas served us Christmas Eve dinner with a smile and is a true gentleman. There is a small grocery store across the street (Mpreis) where we bought a few supplies and we enjoyed Elferhaus restaurant (non-smoking area in the back) and several other restaurants nearby. Innsbruck is magical at Christmas and the Goldener Adler was a hit with the family. We will be back!
The Goldener Adler has a incredible location in old town Innsbruck. It's a family run hotel with an excellent restaurant. Definitely not a typical American Best Western. The historic building goes back several hundred years. Our room was very modern and recently remodeled. Everything was vey clean. Front desk people very helpful and friendly. Very quiet located on a pedestrian street. We thought breakfast was exceptional as was the service. Across the street is a market where you can get drinks, wine beer, snacks, etc. Also very close are bakeries, bank, restaurants, and shopping. The hotel restaurant was excellent and many local people and tourists ate there. We love Innsbruck and the Goldener Adler. A block from the Inn River. We always travel via public transportation and this location worked well for us.
Very clean hotel that is beautifully decorated. The front desk and resturant staff are very nice and eager to help. Our entire family of five have enjoyed our stay (12, 14 & 16 year old kids). The resturant prices are reasonable.
We stayed for a weekendtrip and were very positive surprised of the original interieur and the friendly staff (especially Natalie) really helped us everytime we asked for something. The hotel is in the middle of the christmas market and to start you get a voucher from the hotel for a traditional austrian christmas food.
We stayed 5 nights and from the outset the staff went beyond our expectations, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is located right in the middle of the Old Town, just step out the front door and you're in the middle of the Christmas markets and a 50m walk from the Goldenes Dachel (The Golden Roof). The hotel's restaurant has been there since 1390 and has the requisite charm and setting to match. Our breakfast was included and had enough variety to keep us well fed to start each day. We bought and used the Inns'bruck card at the hotel for our sight seeing, we opted for the 3 day card as its the best value, pay once and essentially all attractions, museums, public transport, cable cars, historic sites etc are free. It's a great set up and has an app to download before you travel to make planning easier. Looking forward to returning in the summer for another side of Inns'bruck.
The hotel is located in the center of the center! Hotel is beautiful , old design style. The restaurant in the hotel is great, good food and very nice atmosphere . So , great hotel at the eat place. Ask for room at the inside and not on the street, was a bit loud noise at night from the Christmas market.
My husband and I booked Goldener Adler at the last minute when we decided to go from Ehrwald to Innsbruck during our anniversary trip in Sept 2015. We literally picked the first hotel that came up and called them to see if they had a room, we had not planned to visit Innsbruck in advance! The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating on the phone, and we were able to book a room with a view on the top floor for the very next night. The rooms was clean, comfy and in good nick. My only complaint was the glass door on the bathroom. This is the second time I've seen this... is it some kind of a trend for partners to watch each other do their bathroom stuff? At least at Goldener Adler, they provide a speakers and music to drown out your... um, bathroom noises. We found it pretty funny and enjoyed our stay in spite of the semi-public toilet. The breakfast here was great. They didn't rush us out after only 1 kaennchen kaffee, they kept refilling it, which is great for me in the morning! And very unusual for Germany/Austria/CZ. Overall, it was definitely the staff that makes the difference here. They were friendly, helpful and had suggestions or solutions for every question we had about Innsbruck. Would totally recommend.
My husband and I have been so fortunate to be able to return to this very special place over the last few years. Each time we go it just gets better. Wonderful rooms, cosy beds with great linens and then great toiletries with argon oils. From the minute we arrive, the staff does all they can to make things just right. Daniella and Ulli are truly the best. These 2 ladies have become very special to us over our many stays. It is always with a sadness we have to say goodby. Breakfast is lovely with really attentive and helpful staff. It is nice to sit and enjoy the good food and great tea. The location is right in the middle of old town with breathtaking views from the rooms. This hotel offers all positives and no negatives
We drove to Innsbruck from northern Italy for one night to explore the city. The hotel is located in a perfect location with restaurants, bars and shops. The staff at the hotel are pleasant and helpful. The breakfast that is included with the room was excellent.
Best hotel staff I've ever dealt with ! Very kind and cheerful staff, clean rooms and the location is perfect. I would absolutely stay in this hotel again. Amazing Best Western. Internet worked well the food in the restaurant has got to be some of the best in the city. I travel for work a great deal, the free breakfast is easily the best I've ever had.
This hotel is an historical landmark. The location, staff , service, & cleanliness were outstanding, as was the breakfast. Since the hotel is quite old, the rooms are rather small, but adequately furnished. There is no room in the bathroom for any toiletries. If you are seeking a modern up-to-date room, this hotel is not for you. It is charming and very well located in the beautiful little city of Innsbruck.
The hotel is in the centre of the old town. It feels immaculately clean and the rooms are bright, spacious and most attractive. We especially liked the small but very cheerful bathrooms. The beds have freshly folded white duvets on top and are comfortable. The wifi works well and is included in the price. The staff are welcoming and cheerful - very friendly and helpful. We like this hotel very much - it is good value..
We loved this hotel! It has a small lobby off the street, and you have to park in the parking garage across the street......but if you can get past these first impressions......the room was incredible! Amazing curved windows with a view to die for. Great lighting, cool architecture, amazing bathroom....definitely exceeded our expectations! The bar/restaurant is also a really cool place, with neat fixtures and architecture, and outdoor patio facing the Alps! Terrific!
Fabulous choice in Innsbruck, especially for first-timers. The location is near the Goldenes Dachl, steps from the main square and an easy walk to shopping, restaurants and the walking mall, Maria-Theresienstrasse. You can walk from the train station as well. The rooms were nicely appointed and good value for the money. The breakfast was the best hotel breakfast we had in Europe, and the restaurant also a good choice for dinner. What really makes it are (i) the decor, both rooms and common areas, which makes you realize you are in a historical building, (ii) the cleanliness, and, most importantly, (iii) the family that runs it and their outstanding service. We had a few special requests, including booking an onward hotel before returning for a second stay, and they were very accommodating. They also gave great advice on what to see, show the webcam before you head to the cable car, and even sell the Innsbruck Card at the front desk. This is a 600 year old hotel, but luckily has been renovated a few times. The plaque out front shows who has stayed there, and most walking tours stop out front. Great choice.
Booked 5 rooms in Hotel BEST WESTERN Plus Hotel Goldener Adler Innsbruck for our group of seven senior tourists. To choose I suggest fellow tourists to short-list hotels located around the touristic area so that most of the sights are within walking distance. It saves huge time & efforts, so that even with a shorter stay one can effectively enjoy the town. It also saves a lot of energy & cost wasted in travel to reach the touristic spots. Although the initial cost per room is quite high yet in totality it saves money & is most convenient for planning. I always read the reviews of hotels in The Tripadvisor site & make reservation through Booking.com which I find as the most user-friendly site. This hotel has the best locational advantage being just adjacent to most of the touristic sight-seeing within walking distance. Hotel also has a very rich heritage & interesting history, worth reading about the famous personalities who stayed including Mozart the great Music Maestro in the year 1773. This was actually an Inn in 1390 providing hospitality to the visitors to Innsbruck. It was renovated after 600 years to provide better facilities. Recently, in 1994 due to the steep growth of tourism, the establishment undertook complete modernization of without disturbing its originality of cute heritage ambiance with desired comfort. The management is conscious of keeping it clean. As informed while booking about our landing at Munich at 6 am after a long International flight & then driving for 2 hours to reach Innsbruck; our request to provide early check-in at 11 am was well followed by the reception. I must mention the services provided by M/s Nathalie to ensure very comfortable stay & prompt assistance with a smile. Just in front on the street one could enjoy a meal in the open-air café; I found the clear soup very tasty. The hotel serves very good meals in their indoor restaurant. Rooms are spacious, clean, nicely decorated & comfortable, good sleep quality. Tap water is portable, safe for drinking. The housekeeping provided standard toiletries, fresh linen & clean bath-towels. The Hotel provides good value for money; I would certainly recommend tourists to stay at the Hotel. Stayed for two nights from 20th Sept.2015,
The Goldener Adler prides itself on being the oldest continuously operated hotel in Innsbruck, with its origins dating back to the 17th Century. It is conveniently located in the heart of the old city, with easy access to all of the shops and restaurants that contribute to Innsbruck's reputation. Now, as a Best Western franchise, it has been upgraded and modernized to Class A hotel standards, while, at the same time, maintaining an old world Tyrollean charm. A plaque on the building lists some of the famous historical personalities that have stayed at the hotel and reads like a Who's Who list of European aristocracy. All of the guest rooms have namesakes of famous people that visited the hotel, complete with historical references and biographies. While the guest rooms are large, modern and very comfortable, the furnishings in the common areas herald back to a bygone era and adds character to the establishment. And, the on-premise restaurant, of the same name, offers very high quality traditional Tyrollean cuisine. Definitely worth a stay if you are in the city.
We only stayed one night and wished we could stay for more. The room was large and beautiful. Disabled facilities were excellent for bathroom use and getting around the room. The staff were very friendly and went out of there way to assist us with out train problems for the next day. The hotel was in a prime location and easy to access everything we needed. Breakfast was included and delicious. Will be going back.
The location is excellent. Right in the middle of the old city. There are a few very good restaurants within literally steps of the hotel. Navigating the Alstadt attractions is a breeze with this hotel as a base. Everything is within walking distance except for the Swaroski world. Even that, the bus stop is also just short walk away. The receptionist that checked is in was very helpful and spoke good English. Each floor is so uniquely decorated. And every room has a little 'write up'. The room is modernized and so is the bath. We checked before booking. History is good but not when it comes to my ablution. The only shortcoming is the wifi. Once I got on, the wifi keeps dropping. Eventually the wifi was not even able to locate. Which is why I could not even post the review. The tv channels are limited to German speaking programmes. English speakers will only have CNN and maybe there is a CNBC.
this hotel is in a perfect location with nearly everything in a 15 minute walking distance. the room was interesting with the bathroom area being separated by a glass decorative wall. overall the room was clean and perfect for our stay. the carpet was in good condition in our room and may have been 'clean' from vacuuming, but it was obviously showing dirt wear from shoes/boots and could use a steam clean or replacement. breakfast was fantastic. walking throughout the building was interesting to see the architecture and wall hanging (pictures, animal mounts). Daniela welcomed us as we arrived and was again on duty we left. she is a great asset to this hotel, knowledgeable about the area and made great recommendations of areas to visit. although she is a Austrian native, she shared with us her love for american baseball. WiFi worked great. the guests who have stayed here are unique - apparently Mozart stayed during his lifetime.
We stayed two nights. Our room was large and the bathroom was adequate and new. We had reserved a superior room. The breakfast was very good, but they need to get their act together on clearing tables. I had to scrounge for silverware both mornings. The location is the selling point. You are across the street from the Golden Adler roof, two blocks from the cathedral, three blocks from the main commercial street and the tram up the mountain. You can walk to fifty great restaurants. I would absolutely stay here again.
We'd booked because of all the great reviews but nothing prepared us for the reality – for comfort, friendliness, efficiency and above all hospitality. We can't wait to go back! From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we have felt taken care of from Daniella in the reception and all our needs and wishes have been fixed for us.The location is ideal, our room (407) was quiet, pleasant, and very clean. The breakfast was superb, and there was complimentary coffee, tea, juice, and salmon anytime we wanted it.The location is perfect, so close to main street which has many restaurants and shopping stores, and very close to the old town square. If you manage to find spaces in this residence you should definitely choose it, absolutely incredible!
This was by far the best hotel we stayed at on our Austrian trip! Our room was ready when we arrived a few hours early, and the front desk attendant was so sweet! She walked us outside to determine if it would be worth our time to go up the mountain by cable car. Unfortunately, it was far too cloudy that day. The bath in the room was large, with double sinks, granite counter top, a bidet and a towel warmer. There was a separate toilet area. We had a corner room so there were windows on two sides and we had a great view of the town. The room was spotless and we enjoyed the breakfast buffet. Would definitely stay here again.
Our trip to Innsbruk was amazing and the Hotel Goldener Adler was no exception. Attention to customer needs was their priority and the extra service we got when we left with help to book ongoing travel was 5 star. Rooms were old which are inkeeping with the fabulous history of the place but bathrooms were very clean, very modern and recently updated. The centre of interesting historical area. Will definitely go back.
Difficult to find, in an alley in a very pedestrian populated area. Front desk people very kind and helpful. Room very outdated, dark. Noisy air conditioner. Bathroom was updated. Very small for a double bed room, even in Europe. Breakfast buffet was very good!! If only the room was as good! Not what we expected from a Best Western Plus.
Stayed for two nights at the end of a long walking trip. Couldn't recommend highly enough. Absolutely superb in every respect. Staff were outstanding, wonderful quality rooms which were quiet despite being over one of the main areas in the old town. Bathrooms and bedroom were beautifully laid out, with luxurious linens and fittings. I would return and recommend.
