My room was in need of a new air conditioning unit. The next day it was replaced. Also Best Western Management upgrade a total of 8 air conditioning units in rooms. They went above and beyond and made sure other rooms got efficient working air conditioning units. I also got points for my inconvenience the first night. I am grateful and always enjoying staying here because of the large rooms and close proximity to Huntington Beach!!!! Thanks SURF CITY BEST WESTERN!
We were traveling with our 15 yr old granddaughter. Her first comment was wow this room is bigger than knotts hotel! Room had a fridge & microwave. Beds were very comfortable including the pillows. Employees we recall very nice. We will definitely stay again
We stayed here as a large group for a soccer tournament. The motel is centrally located near everything (beach, shopping, sports complex, Huntington Pier.) They offer free parking and breakfast. The rooms are spacious and clean and contain a small microwave and good sized refrigerator. The staff was friendly, attentive and accommodating. It's not the quietest place and I could hear footsteps upstairs and people in the parking lot but it was comfortable and convenient (and we weren't looking for a resort experience.) I looked at a lot of options and think this was the best in the area for the price.
Hotel located about five minutes drive from sea front. Plenty of parking. Friendly and quick check in. Three story building with lift and stairs. Rooms have out side doors similar to motel. My room was bigger than I expected with fridge, TV, bathroom and WIFI. There are a few restaurants and shops close by but the town center is close enough anyway.
we love this property always clean and next to everything. no mater what you are looking to do restuants , shopping it is near by.
A beautiful area near the beach. This hotel was nicely decorated, beautifully landscaped, comfortable beds, and a wonderful healthy delicious breakfast. It is walking distance to restaurants and stores and the beach is down the street. The price was great for the area and comfort. The staff was very professional and friendly. We extended our stay since we liked it so much. I'm definitely going to visit again.
The first night getting into bed there was sand in between the sheets! A LOT OF SAND!!! Clearly the sheets were not changed from the previous guest. Of course there was no housekeeping at 10:30 pm. When I called the front desk to report it, it took over 15 min to deliver fresh sheets. I had to change my own bed sheets and threw the dirty ones on the floor. During the rest of our 4-night stay the room was never cleaned or serviced even though the door hanger sign was put out to clean the room every day. We never got fresh towels, beds changed, or trash taken out. Plus the unsanitary dirty, sandy sheets from the previous guest remained on the floor! The water in the shower never got hot. The elevator was down so I had to manually lug heavy, bulky luggage down 3-flights of outdoor stairs. No compensation or attempt to provide customer service was offered.
We had an excellent time at Best Western. The beds were comfortable, the whole room was clean and pretty big. It was very affordable, and the stay also came with free breakfast. The staff was friendly too.
Hotel is clean, staff was friendly, breakfast offerings (though sparse) included cooked to order items. Empty shampoo and conditioner dispensers in the shower, and ran out of hot water. Room was devoid of anything decorative, bare floors, plastic desk chair, mattress was soft in the middle. Again, clean and okay for one night, but there may be better options.
This hotel is a bit off the beaten path to tourist attractions, but it's a good alternative to very pricey beachside resorts, and it's an easy short drive to get to the beaches. They offer a few cooked-to-order breakfast selections and the hard working management was responsive to my requests for assistance.
People were blasting their music in the pool area past 2am and management did absolutely nothing about it. Walls as thin as paper, lumpy pillows, a sheet as a comforter, hard beds. Terrible experience
Unfortunately, we were traveling on a tight budget so I was happy to be able to find a room at this price on a weekend. But it is nothing fancy and price was high due to being a wekend and 2 mites from the coast. We stayed in an upstairs room as it is an older hotel and thus you would hear the people above you. Fortunately, there was an elevator and a luggage cart. The pool and spa were clean and in good condition but no towels. The linens on the bed were nice but the towels were thin and small. Room was spacious even with two queen size beds. A/C worked well.
Hotel was close to the pier, pool was nice and clean and the room was very comfortable. Front desk staff was helpful and accomodating. I booked 3 nights and was happy with the service and my stay all three nights.
AVOID AT ALL COST!! I recently stay here on May 26, 2023 in a Non- Smoking room because I DO NOT SMOKE. The hotel took and kept my $100 deposit saying the room smelled of smoke. I DO NOT SMOKE! When in fact the Hotel charges $250 for smoking in a non-smoking room. This Hotel is dishonest. I WILL NOT STAY HERE! AVOID AT ALL COST!!
I really love Best Western hotels, they are always clean, comfortable beds, and the food is great. A good deal for the price, the only reason I gave it a 4 star was because of all the Best Western hotels I've stayed in this one had their jacuzzi at like warm temp. It cold after a few minutes of turning on the jets. Otherwise every else was exceptional, my husband's first time staying at a BW and he was quite impressed.
$500 + for a 3 day stay and this hotel was unbelieveable. The towels were the lowest grade (and looked unwashed; I'm sure they were washed, but I've never seen towels that were "grayish"). Chair at desk was naugahyde with 1/2 of the cover torn off so you back hit the element under the covering. OMG.
The front desk man at time of check in which was around 3:30pm was Very unprofessional, both in dress and speech…he had an attitude of “I don't care”…his hand were dirty and he was unclean and unkept…this gave the impression that I would find the remainder of my stay to be the same. I was charged $100 security deposit, despite using a VISA credit card and having made the reservations the day prior. When I asked him if this would be credited back to my credit card at time of discharge his reply was, “no, but you will eventually get it”…. The floors in our room were dirty, when I walked barefoot my feet were black on the bottom. Carpet outside was soiled and torn. For the price I was very disappointed…
Greedy and heartless. They Wouldn't waive the late cancellation fee even though I had to take my girlfriend to the emergency room and I couldn't make the trip. Will NEVER even consider this place again. I wish I could leave a zero star review.
Great staff, scrumptious breakfast; eggs sausage potatoes, and really great coffee and tea ! Love the personable reservationists, they made my stay wonderful and assisted me with all needs that came up for me. Mine was a long stay and came back couple more times. The outdoor pool and hot tub were very pleasant to enjoy. Recommend this hotel highly; location, location, location !
Located perfectly in Huntington Beach, but quality of rooms and breakfast not adequate. Rooms need painting; walkways to rooms need replacing. Breakfast didn't have enough choices for the price we paid for the room.
As a retiree who travels a great deal, this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. To begin with, the bed was rock hard, the pillows were the size of large basketballs, the chair was ripped and torn, and the maids ran out of hand towels. Worse yet, in the morning, we had no hot water. When I finally tracked down the manager (i.e., no one was at the front desk or answering the phone), she exploded at me as if it were my fault that there was no hot water in our room. As I tried to explain the water situation, she sarcastically told me to find another hotel if I was unhappy with this Best Western…which we ended up doing. While my wife and I generally are very pleased with Best Western…….the Surf City branch should be renamed the “Worst Western.”
Only needed a room for one night for an event we were attending and didn't want to drive all the way back home. The hotel front desk was accommodating but the room itself was sad and dreary. The pillows were hard and practically like a round brick, the beds hardly had any blanket at all, only a sheet and a thin cover. Not very comfortable. Older hotel. The in room coffee maker worked and I had to use tap water for my coffee and it was pretty awful. It didn't make me happy staying here and I'm glad we only had to stay one night. It just ended up being a very expensive place to crash.
This is the place to stay, safe, clean frendly, I would recommend this place to stay any time to any of my friends it's always clean very friendly the food is great the staff is always willing to help when you need help
Excellent location and comfortable room for the price. A dated property, but very clean with everything you'll need in your room for a comfortable stay. The staff was friendly and happy to help with anything you'll need. Request bigger pillows, I don't know why they use little decorative pillows on the bed, but we needed something bigger. The front desk brought them immediately. The room in outfitted with a large fridge, microwave and direct TV. The beds were comfortable and the room was pretty quite We heard the people walking above us a few times, but that was it. The breakfast was better than I expected, but I would avoid the oatmeal and ask for more fruit. But the eggs and sausage were pretty good and there were several breakfast bread options. Overall, if you need a comfortable room located close to all the fun Huntington Beach has to offer at a good price, this is your hotel. If you need anything fancy or a boujie property, this is not for you. But it worked very nicely for us and we were very happy with our stay.
Really clean rooms, close to beach & other local areas. Breakfast buffet is always a plus when lodging. Easy access to other Orange County sites. Felt safe at this location. Always a treat to stay in Surf City. Can't wait until next year's US Open of Surf.
I have stayed at many Best Western hotels but this was the most run down and disgusting I have come across. Felt like own did not care about guests. Landscaping was unkept and the rooms were totally run down. Dirty walls and floor. Needs to have a total remodel. 2 tiny pillows per bed. I had no choice but to stay due to my late arrival and need to get up early the next day. Pictures definitely are deceiving. I would not recommend to anyone and I would not let my family stay here.
Was average experience the only problem i can put in is when i try to book online by the paige and used my rewards dont le me do and when i arrive and book in the front desk they tell me was more expense if i do with the loyal rewards
Friendly staff & very helpful! It's a very quiet hotel & conveniently located to stores & restaurants. Nice pool & jacuzzi. Staff seems to take great pride in their hotel. They were very flexible when I had to make changes.
The breakfast was cold and limited due to renovations in the cafeteria area. The 2nd & 3rd story walk ways have dips in them that are structurally concerning. I felt like for almost 300.00 a night the hotel should have been in better shape.
Great service and amenities. They gave us bottled water at check in. The staff was very friendly. However, Room was very smoky smelling. I was unable to sleep and considered calling the front desk in the middle of the night.
It is a very outdated hotel. No USB ports available. We left and placed the privacy sign on the door we didn't want anyone to go into our room. Usually privacy means stay out? When we came back we notice someone was in our room because there was a new toilet paper roll, new tissues and new towels but they did not clean the room or gave more shampoo, bar or soap etc. When asked why someone went in the room if the sign was out on the door the front desk manager said they do it even if the sign is on. What's the point of privacy sign if it is not honored?
Awesome location! There was black mold in the bathroom. Water pressure was so low, had to rinse hair in the bath nozzle. Carpet, not so clean. Persistent musty smell that would not go away, even after leaving the door open. Trash and room cleaned only after checkout. Majority of staff extremely pleasant, one not so much. Pick up breakfast from hotel staff. It was always just sitting on the table, so eggs not so hot, sometimes salty, muffins fruit and sausage were great, Bacon, okay. Dry toast, no butter or jelly. Daycare next door, very loud in the afternoon, Would not stay there again.
Don't be fooled by the on-line advertisement of this property. Although the rooms are reasonably priced, the quality of both staff services and the property were sub-par! That shared, the marketing on-line site is a true example of deceptive advertising.
This property has some potential. I believe that management needs to keep up with maintenance to make this a better stop. Towels were old, thin and had poor absorption. Floors outside the front door were slippery when wet. Falling hazard for sure! Breakfast was terrible. Grab and go breakfast that was cold and uninspiring. We stayed 2 days and I didn't get breakfast because it was that bad. I am a BW rewards member, but I do believe that this property can get better.
The area is not good, but I needed to be close to a venue for an event. Despite the exterior, the room was very nice. The breakfast was above average. The staff were friendly and helpful. The value was great.
Love this Hotel and Always stay at this Hotel aince 2019. But this time is gonna be THE LAST TIME. One of the main reasons is the breakfast. But when I has made a check in they informed that no breakfast Buffet anymore, only gives you a small box qnd thats it. So they must advertise in advanxce. Because if I knew, I will never pay a lot of money to stay here. About everything like rooms comfort service space all remains the same, very good.
Someone entered my room when I was out running errands ND looked through my belongings and tampered with my belongings also their was a very bad smell of baby powder in the room that wasn't their the night before that caused an allergic reaction and gave me a panic attack and chest tightness. The room was clean in the beginning but as I left and returned it wasn't the same and being a diamond member I would expect better then that but for my overall experience if you can find a vetter hotel with a slightly better rate I recommend you do so then to stay here with .y privacy are security and random. Guest walking around at wee hours of the nights talking loud and recklessly the guy who works the late shifts clearly didn't care.
I stayed here for one night in October of 2021. It was the best value I could find in the area. It's not far from the beach and is clean, comfortable, and well decorated. The staff is friendly. I would definitely stay here again.
FuneralThis BW was chosen because of its central location to a nearby family event. The check-in process was quick, and I was easily signed up with the BW Rewards Membership. The rate for my stay was reasonable. The room was clean, with everything working properly. The spa wasn't working, but the morning staff informed me of this, prior to my stay. The take out breakfast was good, consisting of scrambled egg, sausage, fruit and toast. The morning coffee was out early, and it was good. The staff was friendly and hospitable. Both of us enjoyed our stay!
We have stayed at this property before over the past six years, it was always a good experience. This time was not. We will not be staying at this property ever again. The property appears that if something breaks, it is left without intent to repair or replace. Our room had only bath towels and wash cloths in it, when we asked the maid for a hand towel, we were told they do not offer hand towels and were handed six wash cloths and more bath towels. The bathroom tile was chipped and cracked, the boarder around the mirror in the bathroom had a six inch wear spot on it. The curtain guard on the air conditioner was missing and replaced with a flat piece of metal with a few screws in it. The hot tub was out of order, with faded caution tape around it and water in the bottom that looked like a mosquito breeding ground. The pool chairs were sun bleached and dirty, they also had spider webs on them. The first floor ice machine was boarded up with a hand sanitizer screwed to it. If you ask for a late check out, you are told it is BEST WESTEN POLICY you can only stay ten minutes after checkout. Stay somewhere else. This hotel has turned into a dump!
So easy to check in! Great room rate! Super convenient location!! Clean interior & exterior - you could tell they take great pride in the cleanliness & & upkeep of their property! Very comfortable room. Great customer service!! Next time I'm in the area & need a hotel, this will be where I'll stay!
In-room carpet was damp and dirty. Sidewalks and parking spaces fronting the rooms were covered in cigarette butts. Thus, the reason for my "Average" rating. These issues reported to Management via survey.
We really enjoyed our stay. Excellent facilities at an excellent location. Perfect for a family vacation! Best Western Surf city is highly recommendable as it offers everything you might need during your holiday
Room was clean, neat and had everything I needed including internet and nice TV. Good parking, inviting pool, close to other amenties, food, grocery stores, gas stations, shopping and post office. Weather can't be beat. Close to beach too!
Upon check in we were told that due to the holiday weekend, we could only park one car in the parking lot. The other car would have to park on the street across the (busy) street. Our airconditioner was not working so we called and asked them to repair it. They came to repair it, and when we returned it was not fixed. We called the desk again and they said, it's been repaired. we had to pull teeth to get them to come out again and actually fix the air conditioner, which still didnt work well. The TV did not work, there was no hot water, they refused to change our sheets that were dirty upon arrival. Oh, then my car was stolen off the street they instructed me to park on. When I let them know my car was stolen I was told, "you should have parked in the parking lot." I told them I was instructed to park on the street and the said, "I don't know who told you that, but he must have been new." They offered no assistance, solutions, or sympathy for any of the issues we reported and refused to give any accommodation for all the issues. We paid $250 a night, so not even the excuse of it being a cheap hotel, so you get what you pay for. 100% do not recommend.
I stayed at the Best Western in Huntington Beach and found the room very clean. The Young woman at the front desk was very polite. The room was worth the price especially since I stayed at another hotel the night before that was not nearly as clean and not worth the few dollars i saved by staying there. The Best western I stayed in was worth the Price for the "cleanliness" of the room and hotel.
Older motel, very average in every way - however the location & price suited our needs. We just wanted a place to sleep before catching the Newport Flyer to Catalina at 9am. The front desk was very accommodating of all my requests prior to check-in.
So many things wrong with this hotel. SO, SO expensive for what you get. It was said the rooms had been redone. I guess I didn't find out when that had happened. The otoman in our room looked like it had been chewed on by a dog and the chair was stained. Heavy paint drips everywhere. It really looked so old and tired even after the refresh since it was so poor;y done. The most REMARKABLY AWFUL feature of the room was the motion detector light for the bathroom sink area which is really in an open alcove in the room. The light would turn on all night if one of us turned over!!! The room on one side held the party girls who went out late at night after hours of getting ready which included loud music and trekking back and forth to the other party room. They would return home about 3 am. On the other side the guests were the nice family with kids with early morning routines. We never slept at this place. As a matter of fact, we left a day early just to get home for some rest. Breakfast was grab and go. Really? We have stayed at a few hotels over the pandemic and all figured out how to safely provide coffee and a hot breakfast. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. There were other issues with the reservation. We had to delay our arrival by one day and instead of removing the charge for one day, I was told the amount would only be $1 more than our original reservation as now we would be charged the higher Memorial Day Weekend rate. I had the reservation for almost two months. After 25 minutes between the hotel and guest service we got that ironed out. I have never seen a hotel refuse to honor an original reservation rate. Also, there were young men hanging around in the parking lot smoking and loud conversations. The walk way is terrible, Anyone walking by shook the building. The water pressure was terrible. I could go on but run to any other hotel.
I've stayed here several times and I was happy. But this time was not the best. The lobby has cheap plastic sheeting over the counter. Seems like they could have set up a better looking barrier. The room looked clean, but there was no daily housekeeping. So I had to go down to the lobby to get fresh towels. And the trash basket was never emptied. The breakfast buffet was eliminated and I was told that I could pick up a bagged snack in the morning. I did that once. But it was just cookies, a little snack bar, and a water. There was a party down the hall one night. It was difficult to sleep. We were there for 3 nights. At least the bed mattress was comfortable. I understand that sacrifices are needed due to covid and I have been happy with previous stays here. So, I will most likely be back. But not this year.
Great, clean rooms, can't wait until we can swim again! Check in was easy and the staff was friendly. The amenities were useful. The elevator was a definite plus. The property has a real beachy feel to it. Enjoy!
Review a Best Western am I stays that I've had there in the past 12 months Have been Exceptional. Their staff their cleanliness overall experience has been great. I would recommend staying At any of their locationsTo all my Family and friends.
Rooms were clean and good size. Linens were poor quality and bare minimum. Facility is noisy from guests well after quiet time Dim lighting in room as well as poor water pressure. Plan on going elsewhere for breakfast
I was very disappointed with the quality for the cost. It is a motel and fell short of my expectations of a best western. We had a room at the end of the hotel that was nice because it blocked the road noise. But then we had drunken revellers going up and down the stairs all night and morning making tons of noise and making it impossible to sleep.
Really good hotel to stay at front desk super friendly and staff that cleans room do very good my family really enjoyed the time we stayed will be definitely returning in the future also it was just a few blocks from the beach
The overall cleanliness of the room was very good. Bedding was clean, but had that "old sheets" smell. Would be nice if they used bleach when laundering, not only for freshness but for looks, there were a lot of stains on the towels and they were very, very thin. Pillows were a little hard and lumpy. (Costco/Sams have pillows very reasonable, would be great if rooms received a little upgrade) Towels were also old. Other than that, the room was clean. Lights around the pool and property at night were a very nice touch, pleasant to drive into property and helped with lighting the parking area.
Idk if it's because of covid but Check in and check out was super quick. I had the ac on 60 and high and the blankets they had kept us cozy. I like how the walkway is nonsmoking and how big the parking spaces are and how many spaces there were. I had 4 kids with me and at no point did I feel crowded.
Pro's: Nicely designed interior Comfy Bed Wifi Decent toiletries Con's: Front desk guy Vietnamese young guy- no smile, no warmth and very stern :/ Sketchy people roaming around the property smoking (it's non smoking) Traffic noise from Beach Blvd- all night long Bright light right outside my window, so had to keep curtains closed No privacy unless you keep curtains closed, as people walk can walk by and look into your room (set up is like a Motel 6) In the morning, I awoke to dozens of children screaming at the daycare across the parking lot PIllows were small and low quality In Dec (even in CA) it can be cold- was 47 degrees- but they only give 1 blanket unless you go to front to ask for 1 more! :( Towels were clean, but worn ridiculously thin shower head was a tall goose neck and I had to climb onto the tub rim to adjust it shower head was really weak, cheap and filled with sediment, so water didnt go through all the holes Since they did a good job on the interior design, not sure why they didnt upgrade to better showed heads (even if low flow) No breakfast because of Covid, but they could at least provide an apple and bottle of water in each room since they aren't reducing the rates.
Based on pictures, I figured this would be a decent hotel. Ummm...nope. It looks run down from the moment you pull into the location. There are questionable people hanging out all over the property. I did not feel safe. Honestly felt more the quality of a hole in the wall cheap motel. The room was surprisingly nice. Decor was nice and the bed was comfy. However I just didn't feel comfortable and left around 1am. After checking in at 3pm. I just couldn't stay any longer. I will never stay here again or even recommend anyone wasting their money on it. I don't care if it's a Best Western... In my opinion, it DOES NOT meet the companies quality I have become accustomed to.
The vent and the light switches were broken. Couldn't shut it off. The room had an odor as well. The beds were made nicely and the mattress comfortable, but the pillows did not fit a queen/king size bed. The were the type you get at walmart for $5. Not comfortable at all.
Very comfterbul and extremely clean Breakfast was not open however understandable due to the virus staff was extremely kind suprising was that you could not hear the road even with the great location on beach blvd
This place was the worst hotel I ever stayed at in my life. The people in the room next to us were parting all night until 2am. We called the front desk and he said he called the police and that they were “getting rid of them”, but they never left. The next morning we came to an agreement with the front desk workers on a measly 15% off discount. He said he would contact the manager and they would send us our information. We heard back from booking.com (the party that we booked with) and this is what we got. Image attached. So then, we called the front desk to see what was going on, since we did come to an agreement before checkout. In fact, we waited there for an hour getting everything figured out for the not-even-worth-it 15$ discount. The front desk told us that we had “DRUGS IN THE ROOM” and that they “WERE GOING TO CHARGE ME $250”. Yeah, sounds about right. Keep in mind they didn't know my name, my room number, what drugs were found, or ANYTHING. At this point I am contacting my lawyer about false claims just in case they try to charge me after I write this review. The place was disgusting, people were parting all night drinking and smoking. We were the only people there that WERENT doing that and we are getting false drug claims. I would rather stay in a cardboard box than this place again.
Great property, rooms, pool and area are very nice! The staff was exceptional as I've been traveling for personal reasons and have needed some flexibility. They were able to add to my time, increase the days and accommodate the changes of schedule. Really a great time and vibe, will come back.
We've stayed here twice this year. Great value in a good location. Just minutes from the beach and near any restaurant you want. Front desk was awesome. We had 1 small issues with makeup smear on a clean towel. Called the front desk and it was replaced within a couple minutes.
I needed a place to put my feet up and relax. While the beds were very comfy (Extremely comfortable) the cleanliness of our room was to be desired! Breakfast was so bomb though... Lots to choose from....Simply delicious
Four days on Beach Blv. a short drive to the pier was awesome. Hotel location was perfect as well as the service. A nice walk up Beach to Hertz was perfect. They call it winter but for me 70 and empty beaches is my kind of winter! Kicking around on the beach and waiting on the sunset is good medicine! I will plan this winter trip every year going forward. The front desk friends will welcome me back again next year.
My husband and I wanted a getaway and decided to go to Huntington Beach. The hotel we chose offered breakfast daily which was okay. The location was great close to the strip of restaurants of many choice. Hotel staff was friendly and accommodating when we had questions. Someone was bouncing a ball which we had to report and they called the people with the bouncing ball and it stopped. Would stay there again. Bed was comfortable as usually as in all best western hotels
We booked this hotel for Jan. 15 - 18th, on Nov. 13. we paid for the reservation then. On jan. 15th we flew 1,600 miles to HB, arriving at the hotel around 7:30 pm and the smug desk clerk tells me that I had cancelled the reservation. I was not happy. We called Expedia, they said the reservation was still valid. Fortunately Expedia was able to find us a hotel up the street as BW was full. I don't know why they lied to us, we have been staying there for 18 years. We are unable to get this resolved.
The exterior of this property had me worried, it looks a bit dated. Pleasant surprise to see the rooms were very clean and nicely updated. Beds were very comfortable, nice linens, thick fluffy towels. Fridge and microwave. Hotel does have exterior coridor, so even though screened Windows open, you might leave them closed for privacy. Nice pool and hot tub,but you have to walk across the parking lot to get to it, and no afternoon sun by the pool, the building shades it. Breakfast was good, eggs were real eggs, not powdered and better than average sausage. Good value, easy drive to the beach or pier. Ok noise level, could here a bit of laughter through the walls, and since all rooms face parking lot you do hear the people who don't know how to lock/unlock their cars without honking.I would definitely stay here again.
I normally don't stay at Best Westerns, but this room was booked for me because of a work commitment. I was pleasantly surprised with my stay. The receptionist was very friendly and this three-story property had an elevator, even though it had outdoor hallways. The room was of typical size, but the bed was comfortable, the heat worked well and the the TV was decently-sized and had a lot of channels to choose from. The two big surprises for me were the wifi speed (80/80) and the quality of the towels. There's not a lot a hotel owner/manager can do about their physical location and massive upgrades to the rooms can be very costly. However, giving guests free & fast wifi is a relatively-easy and inexpensive option. Bath towels are a little more expensive and likely to "walk away" from the property more often, but a difference people notice. These were the best towels I've ever had anywhere. I liked them so much, I wanted to get the name so I could buy some, but they were private label.
My friend and I had such an enjoyable stay at the Best Western Surf City in Huntington Beach. The hotel was clean and equipped with everything we needed/wanted, just like home. The bed was very comfy and the pillows were amazing. We had to remove the pillowcase to look for the brand so that we may purchase it. The breakfast was simple but absolutely delicious, the scrambled eggs, sausages and potatoes were sumptuous. The coffee was excellent and the different types of teas were lovely.
A very central place to stay while in Huntington Beach. Close to everything; Beach, shopping, freeways. Hotel was clean, friendly and helpful. Had what we needed. Breakfast was good. A small area but had what we wanted.
This is a decent hotel. It's in a good location. The rooms are a nice size and the beds are comfortable. They didn't have any blankets to add to the bed on a cold night so I was cold most nights. The bathroom could use some upgrade. The towels are scratchy and not very absorbent. The pool was clean.
The breakfast food was terrible. No coffee ready when we came in to eat. Eggs and potatoes looked and tasted nasty. The response to correcting a noise situation from 11:15 pm to 2:00 am took 2 hours and 45 minutes and was terrible.
Our experience was a surprise to us - for the money, in the area we stayed, we had a wonderful stay. The room was clean, well-decorated and comfortable. The staff was friendly and knowledgable, and the rooms were well-maintained. In an area where rooms can go for over $400 a night, we would certainly stay here again when we are in the area.
Hotel bathroom was dirty Sheets had hair on them The room smells moldy Was close to family home, but will not Stay here again. Not a lot of hotel options in the area that are less than $300/ night but will pay it next time.
The staff was awesome and the staff was friendly but the room had 10 crickets and 2 cockroaches. the ac/heater unit broke . Also the cap for the sewer was missing so we had to tell maintenance. . the locatrion was absolutely wonderful
The hotel was in walking distance to many of my favorite place and only 5 miles from where I needed to be. The staff was help and accommodating. Parking was a bit scarce but you are able to park on the main street if you want to take that chance.
I recently stayed for five days at this hotel. It is a great value and as a solo traveler, I truly appreciated the easy access to park! Everyone was very Friendly and helpful. The maid service was dependable and the linens were very comfortable and cozy. The breakfast was basic but very tasty. Overall a very good experience.
its unfortunate, the rooms were quite nice, most of the staff was nice but there was one person on staff who soured the whole experience for me and her name is CRYSTAL N. She lied to my face 3 times about her mistakes and accused me(the customer) about things i didn't do. I am referring to billing and points, being overcharged for rooms and even being charged for a night when i had checked out and wasn't even there, she thought she could slip it by me and i would not notice. when i came to the lobby to sort it out she was mean and nasty!! I travel a lot and because of CRYSTAL N. i will never be back to this hotel. Her customer service skills are well below par.
We stayed here for several nights last spring while attending an event and found this hotel to be a good choice. It's convenient to the freeway and an approximate 15-minute drive to the beach and downtown Huntington Beach. The hotel is nicer than usual for Best Westerns, has a nice staff, decent breakfast, good Wi-Fi, and tons of TV channels—way more than are on the printed list. Its one downside is that it's on a major, busy street, but that wouldn't stop us from staying here again—very satisfied.
I was pleasantly surprised with my room. The exterior of the building is a little dated, so I expected the room to be a bit dated. But it wasn't. The bed was comfortable and the room itself was quite large. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was good. Though the one detractor would be that there definitely was not enough seating(only 5 tables)
The breakfast was nothing special didn't offer as much as other bBest westerns I've stayed in not many amenities. Lobby not very nicely decorated or welcoming. The rooms were clean but no exercise facilities didn't give a lot of information offered by staff of services available at facility. Location was good for the event we were attending. Price with membership was still not really worth the value
we love to visit huntington beach... we have stayed a several of the hotels along beach blvd & along the pch, over the years. the best western surf city has consistently been a decent place to stay over the years. currently they are under construction & had we known, we would have chosen another place this time.
The outside of the building is really old, They are currently updating but iT Will take a long time before up to standard. There is new floaring in the room, rest is dated. Breakfast was Very busy so had to clean the table myself. The walls are Very thin which was rather annoying as the love making on the upper Floor was apparantly enjoyable for at lease Some one.
My 1 1/2 year old got a stomach virus about 2 am on the day we were to check out.He vomited every 20 minutes for four hours. I asked for late check out as they informed me that they were fully booked so could not reserve another night. They would only allow one extra hour. I packed in between bouts of the baby puking. At 10:45 the vomiting had eased and he was napping a little. I figured I could load my vehicle as I was parked directly below my room and close to the stairs. The stairs were blocked by workers. I had to call to get someone to help. The maintenance guy came up to get my luggage. He was very nice. He took my luggage down and I woke up the poor baby and followed him down, As he loaded my luggage my little guy vomited twice. If I hadnt turned quickly to the side, it would have gotten the maintenance guy instead of just me. This was a horrid experience . Dont stay here.
The stay was great except environment was noisy after 2am!! Had problems sleeping because college students were up late filming for an art class. Also the a/c in room did not have continuous fan to drown out noises. Either you freeze or suffer for extra noises outside when a/c reached certain temperature to shut off.
On the main road for Huntington Beach just out from 405 South (if you come from Santa Barbara). Pool in a great place and not in the middle of the road entrance as in some other place where . Close to State street, street where there are all the foods and drinks places area and where you can enjoy walking close to the beach! Close to the walking on the Ocean and to the best Surf Beaches ! Close to New Port Beach where you can go for Whale watching tour. Cleaned , big room, service was great from the housekeeping! Just the service from help desk was a bit poor since people there seemed to be there just because they didn't have to do anything else and sometime , when you are in front of them they wait 5 minutes before speaking to you! Jacuzzi in the bathroom ( also if we didn't asked for )
Upon arrival, the front office had a musty/moldy smell. Our room also had a musty odor. Due to the 72 hour cancellation policy and being Labor Day weekend, we didn't have any other options. The humidity in our room was around 70+% and that is indicative of moisture leading to mold and mildew. Reported the problem to the front desk and to our knowledge, it was never checked out. Would not recommend this hotel.
Great stay at the Best Western Surf City! The beds were comfy, I needed an extra blanket, but it was in the closet for me already. The staff was very nice and always greeted me with a smile when I came in to ask questions. Breakfast was good and we liked that they had different options each morning (we stayed 6 days). We would definately stay again!
Nothing fancy, and it's just a little street side place that doesn't look like much, but the beds were great, the rooms were clean and spacious, WiFi was reliable, and the free hot breakfast was pretty good for that kind of thing. Everyone was friendly, and processing was efficient. We were on first floor and not at all bothered by noise. I'm glad we stayed there instead a fancier place, since visiting family was our focus.
My Son and I rented our room for 2 nights and were pleasantly surprised. We came down from Las Vegas just to get a break from the heat for a few days and really did not know what to expect from this motel as far as quality and service, turns out it was very good. The rooms had been updated, the front desk was very friendly and just overall, for the price this motel was just great.. We really had no problems and had a great time getting away.
Best empolyess in the reception/check in and the room is great and quiet. I will stay here again and recommend it anytime. Really the best option for Huntington Beach area and easy to get to with lots of stores and restaurants close
Cockroaches. Broken toilet. This place was a sh*thole. Do not stay here. It is one of the strip mall style motels located next to a liquor store. They don't get zero stars because the 1970's style, never updated bathroom, had current soap and shampoo. The breakfast was solid. Although the single kitchen worker could not keep up with the customers and at 0800 in the morning they were out of eggs, whole milk, 2% milk, pancakes, pastries, and fruit. But you could have as much dry cereal as you wanted. Do not spend your money at this Best Western. It is the Worst Western. By the way, when I told them about the cockroaches, they ALREADY HAD A BLACKLIGHT to look for evidence of them. Hhmmm, consistent cockroach issue? Disgusting.
Me and my son (14 years of age) loved everything. Excellent location, great room space, really quiet (highest floor and in the end), room renew, great internet connection, excellent breakfast and nice price in compare of others Hotels on the same Blvd.
Friendly staff, comfortable updated room. Exterior of hotel is tired and dated. Breakfast is low quality, processed foods. Since I have to write 200 characters, I am writing this sentence. Cheers to everyone.
Hotel is very nice but old. Staff is trying to keep it up. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are big but hard beds. Breakfast is so so, not much to choose from. Bathrooms are small but showers are really nice.
Room was clean and well maintained. Had problems with card keys both days of our stay. Room information book showed that breakfast service started at 6:00 AM, but it actually started at 7:00 AM. This necessitated getting breakfast elsewhere.
For the price this is a good hotel. Very, very nice staff and location. Room updated, breakfast included. Location fabulous as about a mile to beach. Very clean. Pool near road and bathroom small but no complaints, overall highly recommend for price.
Older hotel but clean with fridge and microwave. Nice desk area but not updated for digital age. Lamp only had 1 outlet and there were no USB ports so you have to be sure you bring your USB connectors. WIFi good. Staff friendly and quick check in and out. Breakfast good but seating area small.
1 night stay In HB Van the owner and her staff were very gracious and helpful!! Newly renovated rooms and the pool deck sounds like they are about to renovate the breakfast area as well as the Lobby and some of the grounds
I will review the stay in order. First off, it is an older property. Pool and jacuzzi area was clean. The front desk staff was very courteous, and check-in was fast. The room was clean, and large, with the only drawback being that the furniture needed to be updated. I reserved a spa room and was very happy with the size of the in-room jacuzzi. Actually, it was in the bathroom, but much more than a bathtub with jets. It fit the 2 of us, with room to spare. A very good selection of channels on a decent sized flat screen t.v., and the high speed wireless internet worked great. The wall unit ac/heater worked great and kept the climate at whatever we wanted. Bed was comfortable and I slept well. I had a corner room on the top floor and experienced no noise from other rooms. The highlight of the trip was the next morning. The breakfast was fantastic. Normal fruits and cereals, along with sausage, scrambled eggs, and hashbrowns, cooked fresh and replenished often. There was also a machine that made pancakes. One push of a button and a minute and a half later you had 2 pancakes on your plate. Everything tasted great and there was a juice bar, also. All in all, a very nice stay. In honesty, if you are a higher end hotel guest, this property would probably not be to your standards, with no fault belonging to the staff, as they were GREAT. If your hotel tastes fall more into the midrange, than this should suit you just fine. It is an average property, with a really courteous and helpful staff. For a change of pace, reserve a jacuzzi room. A nice experience at a very reasonable rate. Happy traveling!
Great hotel, super clean, comfy beds, and great housekeeping service everyday. Graf nothing bad tip say about this property. Even the parking lot was beautiful. The were beautiful plants and a gorgeous bougainvilea tree for great pictures!!
dealing with family problems is never a good time. but at least our stay at this hotel is very comfortable and pleasant. they meet all of my needs each time i come. the rooms are so comfortable and clean. i do enjoy my stay.
Clean, staff was outstanding. Good stay for the price. I was there on business, I had left before breakfast. I requested extra coffee for my room and the manager brought it to my room right away. I like the express check out because I leave very early and they sent my receipt the next day which helps out on my expense report.
We stayed at this motel for three days. During these three days,we were never given clean towels, never had the beds made, never had supplies replenished. We asked the maid if we could have the room cleaned. They answered in broken English that it would be done. I finally went to the front desk to complain, get clean towels, and coffe and creamer. The attendant informed me that they were out of coffee. I explained the situation to him but got no results. A VERY bad place to stay, the worst ever!!!
We have just left the hotel after a 6 day stay, and can only say good things about it! The staff were all extremely kind and helpful, the room was great, and the complimentary breakfast was great also! The room was spacious and modern, and had all amenities that we needed! Thanks for an amazing stay!
Good customer service. The front desk people were very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was great. The variety and quality was more than expected - it had hot items, cold items and different juices. Very good!
This motel offers a good breakfast. It's buffet style, and I especially liked the condiments for the hot oatmeal which included chocolate chips and sprinkles. The serve yourself yogurt machine was in-operable but tiny cups of yogurt were available in a bunch of flavors. You could also have pancakes which were spit out from a machine after you push a button. As for the motel, itself, the rooms have been remodeled but still look old. It was probably the mundane furnishings. My bed mattress was fairly soft and there were plenty of pillows. Even though the motel fronts busy Beach Blvd, I didn't find it too noisy. My room had both a small fridge and a microwave. You can buy some snacks at the reception; but there's a Trader Joe's up by Ellis. As for the TV, lots of stations but the connection in my room was real iffy and the set would turn to no signal every so often. I learned to reboot it. Whatever you do, if this happens, don't unplug. The motel has free parking, but oversize vehicles might have a problem fitting. The ocean front is about 2.5 miles south southwest on Beach Blvd. You can find free parking on beach area residential streets but note the signed restrictions. If you park in a beach lot and expect to stay the day, budget $15.
Is on a busy street and had problems with other guests both nights. Staff, room and included breakfast were great. I have stayed here twice for 2 different events (races) and would stay here again. I will be more proactive about less considerate guests.
From the outside this hotel looks like a clean, older motel. The property is well maintained. The rooms have been newly renovated and are much nicer than you would expect from the exterior. The decor is very pleasing and everything is spotlessly clean. The refrigerator is on the larger size for a hotel room. The internet was fast and reliable.
Good stay but nothing too fancy. This is an older motel but is clean and relatively quiet for a building where all rooms open to the parking lot. Comfortable beds. The breakfast is reasonably good and the breakfast area was well-kept.
I travel frequently for business and this is a great hotel for the price range. The rooms are clean and comfortable. It was very quiet and sleep quality was great. The location is awesome with stores and restaurants nearby. I will definitely be back.
Best Western Surf City exceeded our expectations on every level!!!Thank you for making our last day of a short vacation awesome!!! We had to change the hotel we were in due to a terrible experience (one problem after another!!!) a bathroom sink that was nothing more than a dribble, the hotel controlled the volume on the TV AND had a timer on the TV, very frustrating !!! 9pm cutoff time for the jacuzzi/pool, lamps that didn't work, waste baskets ridiculously small and difficulty in closing the front door.... :( so bad!!! Our room at Best Western was so clean and smelled so fresh!! :) everything was perfect, 100% improvement!!! thank you!!!
Good location, close to shops and short drive to beach. Staff friendly and helpful. Clean room. Good self serve breakfast. Pillows were a little lumpy, but otherwise comfortable. Pool small but clean.
Staff was very professional, friendly, helpful both during the res and confirmation process, not to mention during our stay. Clean room & bath, good breakfast, fine daily room cleaning. We do suggest they replace bathroom fans with quieter models with a separate switch from the bathroom light; reply was property will be renovated soon. We suggested they do those two things, as well. Pool was very nice, clean and refreshing. Will stay again.
We stayed 4 nights at the Best Western Surf City while in town for the US Box Lacrosse Nationals Tournament. We were assigned the hotel by the tournament and our team had approximately 15 rooms for the 4 nights. We had a great experience at this motel. It is a smaller motel. The pool is nice, and hot tub hot. However I would recommend that they have more regular chairs by the pool. Not all parents want to sit in a lounger while watching their child. Breakfast was good and it is exactly what you would expect, nothing fancy, but the sausages were always hot and the staff were quick to replenish items running low. One thing of note is that they had packaged blueberry muffins available which were peanut free, nut free and gluten free. Usually we do not have an option for bakery items for our peanut allergy son. The staff is wonderful at the hotel, always saying hello and helping whenever they could. They allowed us to serve the players a sandwich lunch out of the lobby. Parking was never an issue here as there seemed to be plenty of spots. As it is a motel it is a bit noisy with people walking by at night. Rooms were clean, large and bright. The beds were comfortable. Only complaint was there weren't many plug ins available for us use to charge our devices. The hotel was fully booked while we were there as the US Surfing Championships were also in Huntington beach and yet breakfast was great, a fine amount of seats, and there were always pool towels available. The location is great, a short drive to the beach, a grocery store 1 block away, and a variety of fast food restaurants in close proximity. Huntington Beach is an absolutely beautiful city, I'm happy that we were able to visit here. If we have the opportunity to go back here we would stay at this hotel again. It is budget friendly family motel, and you should book here if that is what you have in mind.
After staying at a more expensive place in LA, we decided to book a less expensive hotel in Huntington Beach. From website photos, we thought this would be kind of a standard, Drury Inn, basic hotel. It isn't really that. This is a 3-story motel with rooms exiting to the parking lot, a small pool and mediocre breakfast. The double queen room was decent sized, but the 2 chairs in it were badly stained (digusting) and the carpet pretty nasty. Insufficient lighting in the rooms and no easily accessible outlets. It otherwise seemed fairly clean and maintained. You can tell that they make an effort with what they've got. For a family on a budget, the hotel is passable. Just gauge your expectations about the quality of the physical facilities. It isn't a Holiday Inn Express or Drury Inn. On the plus side, the front desk service was VERY, VERY good. The property seems to be very well-managed, and they're doing the best they can (probably much more than one might expect) with what they've got.
Theresa was amazing. Location was perfect. Breakfast was amazing. We will definitely stay here again if we are in the area. Perfect for the price. The pool and hot tub were nice and relaxing. Drinks available for purchase in the lobby were great. Thank you!
Absolutely love Huntington Beach. Have been staying at Best Western 4 times a year for the last 5 years. Rooms are big breakfast in the mornings . Staff is always nice. Close to Huntington. 3 mikes. Usually take uber in so we can drink and dance.
Came for my grandsons birthday. First time to see the ocean.Room was clean, staff was very friendly and breakfast was good. Close to the beach. Will stay again. Close to grocery stores and restaurants.
Our first time in Huntington Beach with our two year old. It's a decent and clean hotel with a very nice staff. Theresa has a bubbly and warm personality and she was very understanding and good to our little son. Adrian is a sweet and mature young man who helped us out with all our baby gear and was very patient. I would recommend this hotel for a family going to the beach. The housekeeping and breakfast staff, great people too.
A very pleasant stay during my business trip. People are awesome. Nice tidy room, Housekeeper were helpful. Breakfast was delicious, waiters were so nice. I received an outstanding customer service at check-in from Emy. She provided me a lot of info on Huntington Beach attractions & food restaurants. She was also so kind and well accommodating . Looks like Hotel Management, Manager, House keepers, Waiters and Front Desk lady are well educated to the customer satisfaction. I wish that the quality of service provided will be maintained until my next stay in August. I would like to say that hotel location is wonderful & the hot coffee was superb. Room was ready ahead of time as per my phone call with Emy which shorten my check-in time, Housekeepers cleaning my room daily, People working in preparing breakfast were really friendly helpful.. This is a typical example of strong Hotel Management. See you again in August.
You get what you pay for, right? The price was right. We could not check in until 5pm, so we went to the pool. The staff came out to let us know our room was ready. The staff was great. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The air conditioning unit was plugged into an extension cord? We got the room with a Jacuzzi which worked fine, but there were no bubbles (or bubble bath to put in).
My first thought, its a BW, so don't expect much. I was just looking for an inexpensive place in HB to store my clothes, take a shower and sleep. I actually arrived around 1pm after spending nearly 7 hours on the road, with a baby and was hoping to get an early check-in and freshen up before we hit the beach, but according to the front desk personnel at the time I arrived, there was nothing available until 3pm, even though I saw a cleaning lady finising up a room on the 2nd floor when I arrived. Anyway, I think 3pm is strict policy, no exceptions! Front personnel did offer to store my luggage behind the counter, let us chill at the pool or even offered to let us to chill in the lobby with the baby for a few hours before the room was available. It was all good though, we just took the baby to the beach and went sightseeing. After spending all day at the beach, then strolled Main street and had dinner. We finally got back BW and Ana, the front desk personnel, assisted me. She was quite friendly. The check-in was quick. They had a luggage cart, which was great. We stayed on the 2nd floor. The walkway balcony is slanted to the left, or right depending on the side you entered. It feels like its going to collapse. Even, the luggage cart kept banging against the rail. My room was clean and pretty big. Beds were comfy with extra pillows and the bathroom and shower were clean. The kicker was the high shower head. Two-thumbs up for that! I don't like having to squat down under the shower head. The room had a fridge and complimentary coffee. Plenty of outlets to charge all of your electrical devices. AC worked great. The breakfast is included with your room. I don't expect too much, but the fact that it wasn't just a continental breakfast kind of impressed me. The only thing, I wish the breakfast went until at least 10am. That way you can sleep in a little longer, that's the whole point when you're on vacation right? Although they do say check-in is at 3pm, my only complaint was that they couldn't get us in at 1pm. I've actually never been to a hotel or motel where we weren't permitted to get in any earlier. They could've said, let me check with housekeeping to see if a room just became available. But hey, it is what it is. She did try to accommodate us the best way she could. You get what you pay for, so I can't really complain. But I do have to say, out of all the BW's I've stayed in, this one was probably the best.
Nice Room, big and quiet. Not a great scenery but the location is very good. Personnel worked hard on helping you out, breakfast was very good, and the bed was quite comfy. Great shower, too. Clean, quiet and comfy. Great Value for a business trip.
We spent four nights at Surf City Best Western and were completely pleased with outstanding and friendly service from check-in to check-out. The room was modest, but all we needed, including a nice work desk and a functional bathroom with ample towels, soaps, and shampoos. Breakfast was included and self-service, with fresh fruit, plenty of coffee and tea, four kinds of cereal, yoghurt, fresh pancakes (cooked by a machine on demand, something I had not previously seen), scrambled eggs, sausage, three kinds of fruit juice, four kinds of pastries. Nice location on Beach Blvd, which was a quick run to the beach and had a multitude of eating possibilities within a mile or so. Not a luxury hotel, but a great motel and very family friendly.
Stayed one night while attending a wedding in Huntington Beach. it's one of the better Best Westerns I've have stayed and I heard it was family owed. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The pool and spa was nice to enjoy after a long day. Location is real central right in the middle of Beach Blvd and not far from the Hwy 405. The full breakfast that is offered with the room had eggs, sausage, potatoes, toast, muffins and even a oatmeal, yogurt and pancake machine. Overall, one of the nicest Best Western Hotel.
Place is a little dated, the people were very nice. Breakfast was delicious. My bed was very comfortable. The outside looked like it needed a little updating. Bathtub was loosing its finish. My room was overall nice. I would stay again.
Convenient location, great price, clean and friendly.....stayed here many times and always happy. Highly recommend Best Western Surf City. Nice bonus is the good breakfast. Close to beach and shopping.
I have a very nice time at the hotel. It's very well located if you need or want to stay between Los Angeles and San Diego and close to fantastic places as Manhattan Beach and Newport. The room has lots of space, the neighborhood is quiet and the hotel's staff is caring and friendly. I would strongly recommend staying there!
Clean but dated rooms. No in room safe. Didn't have breakfast as only available 6-9 am. Staff friendly and welcoming. Approx 1.5 miles from Beach and Main St. Walked there but got a cab back as didn't feel it was a particular great area but that's just my opinion. Not much around hotel in terms of food and drink places. Good value for the price paid though.
Nice clean property. Located right on major road, has a grocery store and shopping a couple of blocks away. Room was spacious even with two queens. Quiet, even though the street is a through fare, possibly noiser on weekends. Just a couple miles from the beach and Pacific Coast Highway. It is a blue level BW, but appears to have been recently refurbished.
Room was clean, beds are comfortable, great location for all the destinations we were going. First time we stayed in March, had no problems sleeping. The next time, my husband slept fine, but I kept waking up from the noise of a person in the room above us pacing all night long. I am willing to stay there again, will probably just ask for a top floor room.
The staff are always great. This time we needed an extra night and the staff went out of their way to make the switch to another room as painless as possible. We always stay their when in Huntington Beach. Prices is good for area and we feel safe there.
We pulled in at 11pm and the front desk girl was very friendly and helpful! -Clean rooms -easy to get to get around -lots of restaurants near by Short drive to beach I would definitely stay here again!
Stayed here for an event on Huntington beach. Rooms were clean and had microwave, fridge, and K-cup machine. The staff was extremely nice, and it was easy to check in/out. Breakfast was about what you expect for complimentary (they have a cool pancake machine, but everything else is pretty meh). Location is nice - about a $8-$9 Lyft ride to the beach. Overall a good stay!
Hotel was ok, not great. Decor was dated. Bed was comfortable. Did not use many amenities. Staff was friendly. The area is not so great and between a bar and a preschool. There are a lot of homeless nearby.
After finding an actual glass drug pipe along with drugs in it still, i let the front desk know as soon as i found it. The extremely fake- friendly lady at the front told me they could give me 10,000 points which would be enough for a room if i booked through their website instead of the third party i used... if i signed up for this rewards program. i would've never signed up for in the first place if i knew that she was lying. The manager was gone because he was having a child which is understandable, but come on guys... No one can help? No one assigned for customer service if a matter like this should occur? After two weeks of messages and phone amd e-mail messages with Mihir, the GM, i realized that nothing would happen....he told me at first if it was up to him there could be a refund...but because it was done with a third party nothing could sadly be done! Oh but wait Mihir...! There is a positive conclusion to this! I can call the third party and get a refund if you say it's ok! But what do you know...speaking over me with such disrespect he takes back his words after he realized that this was actually possible...what an unprofessional piece of...sandy crap. I'm upset at best western as a whole as well....no conclusion. Great job..
We recently stayed here for two nights. I had driven by in the past but this was our first stay. Upon arrival we were pleasantly greeted. Our room was ready and we were able to check in early which was greatly appreciated. I recommend the top floor only because I am a light sleeper and did not wish to have people traipsing above. The outside of the hotel is dated, but it is going to be renovated in the near future. Our room was very comfortable and clean. Great mattress and crisp white sheets! The room itself is dated as well, but I am into cleanliness not decor. The breakfast buffet is well laid out and ample selections to fit everyones taste. Best coffee I've had in a long time! There is even a Keurig in your room with coffee and tea selections. We received a call after we had checked in making sure we were comfortable and had all we needed. When's the last time you had that kind of service? I highly recommend staying here, close to beach, shopping and every type of restaurant who are looking for. Great staff! Clean!! Affordable rates!! (I even saw them sweep the parking lot!)
First of all, I do not appreciate being LIED to that "customer service" was closed until morning. I was transferred twice and then told that customer service was CLOSED until the morning. What kind of hotel chain doesn't have a 24 hour customer service line? The first thing listed under amenities for Best Western Surf City was "Cable satellite television, HD." This turned out to be completely untrue. The reception was very poor and the only cable news station I could get was FOX News. When I complained to the front desk, I was told "Oh, yeah. We have bad reception". The front desk person didn't seem to care. I am now waiting to hear back from the Customer Service representative. I demand a full refund. I will never stay at a Best Western again. You have lost a regular customer (I always choose Best Western for trips) but I will not stay again. And I will encourage friends and family never to book a Best Western Stay.
This was going to be an overnight get away. Checked in after 2 pm and napped until 5 pm. Turned on the TV and the reception was horrible. Went to the front desk who confirmed " the reception is bad." Best western knew beforehand the tv was not functioning. Decided to leave and returned home. They would not refund the $150.00. I will be dealing with my credit card company to not pay. Stay away from this place who deceives its customers.
The hotel was really clean, the staff was extremely nice. The hotel is located in a great area as well. Beach is only a few blocks away, shopping places nearby and there is plenty of restaurants around the location.
Typically we don't stay in motels, but this place was as clean and nice as any hotel we've stayed in. The rooms are really big too. But the real treat was breakfast! They have a machine that makes pancakes, and one for oatmeal. We were all enthralled by the novelty! Plus, I have two kids who are gluten free and they offered Udi's gluten free muffins, that made my kids morning.
Very clean on the inside that belied the older exterior. A very pleasant visit - nice breakfast included. We received good service at check-in and afterwards as well. No problems during the entire visit.
The property was in great condition and kept up very well. Our room was perfect! We have stayed at Best Western Surf City many, many, many times and will continue to book with them for all of our future visits which will be at least 5-6 times a year to visit with my husbands family. Thanks for everything!
Stayed 6 days. Thought I misplaced my coat but a day later my iPad also took a walk from A LOCKED room! These are outdoor rooms with NO security. I was told the security camera was NOT set up to RECORD and that "OUR PEOPLE WOULD NEVER DO THAT' FORGET ABOUT THIS PLACE!
This propert is 5 min from the beach and Main Street, nothing fancy but reasonably priced. The room was nice and clean and staff is friendly. The outside could use a tad more sprucing up. The only issue I had was the bed didn't have a comforter and the blanket they put on it was paper thin so I was freezing in the middle of the night. When the front desk asked how our stay was, she said I should have called down but that was the last thing I wanted to do in the middle of the night. I just curled up to my husband who is an oven:) If we stay here again I know to order an extra blanket:) But all in all, good stay, I would stay here again!
Room was clean and big by today's standard. The biggest complaint that we had was that the breakfast service did not start until 7:00AM which is a no go if you want to get an early start. We had to go elsewhere for our breakfast. This was an added expense that we would not of experienced had the morning meal service started at 6:00AM.
Staff was friendly, location close to beach. I stayed for Surf City Marathon. Room was comfortable. Keurig in room. Planned to use jacuzzi but took a post marathon nap instead. Breakfast was better than I expected.
This is an older but very well maintained motel. Our room was quiet and comfortable. The staff were always friendly and helpful. It is located on Beach Blvd which gives good access to any of the southern CA attractions and/or beaches. We would definitely stay there again.
Very nice stay at this hotel. It looks like they're going through a renovation but the room I had was nice. For being on a main road, it was very quiet, even with the childcare business next door, so I appreciated that. Staff is very helpful. The breakfast was fine with a lot of options.
It's an older property, so I can't give 5 stars, but I do want to compliment the entire staff for doing such a great job of keeping this hotel clean and functioning. Everyone was super-friendly. The breakfast crew was fantastic. The food machines were fun. They had one that made instant oatmeal and one that made pancakes. Neither were great, but it was kind of a futuristic experience. The location is close enough to the beach that it's a bit cooler than the cities farther inland. There are tons of places to eat all along Beach Blvd and the beach itself is maybe 10 minutes away by car. In the lobby they had an artist's conception of what the place will look like after the facade is remodeled to a more modern appearance. It will fit in better with the Huntington Beach vibe, but I bet the owner increases the rates, which will make this less of a secret bargain. :(
Staff was very friendly and helpful. It was very clean and reasonably priced. My brothers and I stayed there because of a funeral. There was double king beds in the room instead of queens. That was a really nice upgrade!
Overall nice experience. I enjoyed the breakfast. The pancakes machine was nice and I like the other breakfast items offered. The staff was very kind and accommodating. It was close to the beach and local stores and restaurants.
This hotel is just minutes away from the beaches! It was quiet all night long. Beds were warm and comfortable New Years Night. Check in and out was simple. Breakfast included was good. We requested the third floor so that would have no noise from above.
You'll love your stay at Best Western Surf City. Very neat and clean, and all of the staff are GREAT!! We are anxious to see the remodel when it's completed in the spring of 2018. We'll definitely come back many more times to stay here and visit our family members!
The rooms were spacious and very clean. Staff was helpful, friendly and there was always someone available to answer questions. We had no problem with parking. Breakfast buffet featured eggs, sausage, country potatoes, and pastries as well as fresh fruit. Hot and cold cereals were also available. Plenty of shopping and restaurants nearby. Not far off the 405 if you keep heading down Beach Blvd.
In town for family at the holidays we were looking for a mid-priced comfortable hotel. Based on other reviews we chose the BW Surf City. We were very happy with our stay. The bed was very comfortable, shower water pressure was great and the room was large enough for us to stretch out in the large chair & ottoman to read. The Keurig coffee maker was a big plus and upon check-in we were given treats and water. Staff was very helpful and cheerful even though they were working the Holidays. Would stay again.
Had an enjoyable stay, but the hotel does need another elevator at other end of building... Nice and clean, fresh and comfortable. Check in was early and our room was ready which we really appreciated after the long drive.
They put me on a handicap room and I made a reservation for a suite. Had to wait about an hour to just get a regular room and got to the door and it didn't open. You can hear everything! horrible bed!
We have stayed here many times. It is close to Downtown Huntington Beach. It has comfy rooms and a great hot breakfast and superb coffee! It is very clean. the staff is very polite and courteous. The grounds are always kept up and there is a lot of parking.
My family stayed Thanksgiving and it was the best place for the money. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beds were very comfortable. The pool and spa were great, It was very clean. The breakfast was great gave you lots of options
This place has the most amazing staff EVER!! Having worked in the hotel industry myself for over 20 years, I know how hard it is to motivate your team, but this team was simply AWESOME!! From the check in till check out and everything in between .... OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
My husband, 14 year old daughter, and I stayed in room 312 November 17-19. We were visiting family in Huntington so mostly needed a place to flop at night and did not want to pay for the resort hotels on PCH which are the only other option in town. Here is the good, the bad and the ugly. The good includes the location. This hotel is an excellent location for people visiting Orange County who want to do a variety of activities. (If you are just doing Disneyland, stay in Anaheim) You are about 5 to 10 minutes from the Huntington Beach pier and beach to the west and about 20-30 minutes to Disneyland to the east. The room was surprisingly quiet. Beach Boulevard is not really a highway like it shows on a map; It is just a large street that goes all the way from the beach to the mountains. The room is large, perfect for a family or group. The room includes a large refrigerator, small microwave, and a Keurig coffee maker. Parking and breakfast are included. The breakfast buffet has an excellent selection including scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, pancakes, yogurt, oatmeal, fruit, pastry, juices, and coffee. The staff is super friendly. The only complaint I have is the pillows. They are terrible. My daughter asked if they were filled with trash. Seriously, bring your own pillow or you will end up with neck and back pain. In spite of that, I will be staying here again.
Good hotel with great location near the beach and local amusement parks. The hotel is right on Beach Blvd. There are several very nice restaurants close by. We like Soup Plantation, BJ's, and Olive Garden.
Clean, comfortable and professional. Easy access to the beach and downtown area. Parking situation is pleasant and provides easy access for large and small vehicles. Restaurants are only blocks away...and within walking distance.
Very nice and comfortable room. The front desk staff were excellent. Very friendly and efficient. Very nice breakfast with lots of choices. I highly recommend this hotel. I will definitely stay there again the next time that I visit the area.
It seemed a little pricey for what it was but was clean the breakfast was done well the staff were courteous. The Area felt Safe And over all the experience was good. The rest of this review is strictly because
Everything is great we have traveled here twice and always have a great time. Pool and Hot Tub are clean and it's very quiet too. The complimentary breakfast is fantastic, with all the trimmings. Just a short couple of miles and you are at Pacific City Mall Great places to eat great views the pier is within walking distance...We love to go to Lemonades it a budget friendly delicious stop right by the great free entertainment almost every weekend we live the reggae singer.
Such a wonderful time! Very close to the beach and Panda Express! The staff was soooo friendly, and the breakfast was delicious! We have actually visited this location twice this summer from out of state and both times ended up staying an additional day because we were having to much fun! Thank you we are already planning our trip for next summer. See you soon!
This was my 3rd time at this hotel for both business and pleasure. I have family that live right across the street so the location is perfect for me. Each stay I've had here has been quite pleasant. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. I just returned from a trip there this past weekend. I was in room 121 which didn't seem to be as nice as the last rooms I've had. I noticed there were not enough outlets for electronics. I have a laptop, my daughter has her tablet and phones. Most hotels have outlets located at the base of the lamps but the lamps in this room did not have any. My recommendation would be to buy new lamps with outlets. All-in-all the stay was pleasant. My only complaint was the people above me. It started Saturday morning at 4:30am which cause us to be tired throughout the day. On Saturday night it started again. Its as if the people were walking back and fourth, back and fourth! Thump! Thump! Thump! Finally at 11:30 I got dressed and made my way to the lobby since the phone in my room was not working. The gentleman at the front desk took care of it because after that it stopped and I finally fell asleep. But again, I was pretty tired the next day. Not the hotels fault and I appreciate them taking care of it. The breakfast is great. Saves money and there is a lot to offer. Short drive to the beach which is nice. Here's a tip for parking. Go straight down Beach Blvd, Make a Right on Coast Hwy and Park behind the Dairy Queen. There are parking meters but there seems to always be spots available. From there its a short walk to main street. So overall great little hotel and you cant beat the price.
Clean room, easy to find, close to the beach, nice breakfast, quiet room, even a pool! Nice to have a map guide and list of things to do in the area. Surf lessons by surfschool.net was positive! The location was close to everything we needed.
My husband and I attended a funeral in Brea. We decided to take a few extra days at the beach. The hotel was quiet and close to everything we wanted to do. He worked one full day while I visited with girlfriends. The internet worked great for him. He was comfortable and got lots done. This hotel was a great last minute find!
I had a pleasant stay at this quiet, clean hotel, but what made it for me that that when my Super Shuttle didn't arrive, Chrystal phoned an Uber for me and wouldn't take payment for it, even when I called asking to pay. That's what I call service--and kindness.
Needed a place to stay and luckily found this place. Nice staff, clean and quiet. Pool. Great location for getting to the beach in the morning. Why do I need to type 200 Characters? Why do I need to type 200 Characters?
This was our first time staying at this hotel, and we couldn't have been more pleased. The room was one of the largest/roomiest we have stayed in, and everything was in good repair. It was close to twice the size of some other rooms we have stayed in, in the past. The breakfast was also one of the best we have had. There were eggs, sausage, potatoes, pancakes, oatmeal, pastries, yogurt, and several other options. It was a nice filling breakfast! The customer service was great, too. Service was fast and courteous. They even gave us coloring pages and a box of crayons for our kids when we checked out. Just an overall great stay. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone!
The rooms are clean and the overall ambience is quiet. The staff is amazing and friendly, greeting you immediately whenever we walking inside. Convenient to many local activities as well as the beach. Easy access to other cities. I have stayed in many Best Western Hotels throughout the western states as well as Europe and this is the BEST!
This was the "Best" stay we have had in a long time. The Staff was Friendly, Helpful, and the greeting was if we were Family coming home for a visit. Fabulous. The room was very clean and warm welcoming. Breakfast was great, hot, easy and convenient. Really enjoyed getting our breakfast and taking it to our room. Great view. Quiet. Can't wait to make reservations for this location again and now looking for other locations to stay as well. Just a Fantastic.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and well-kept. This was my first time staying at a Best Western. I was pleasantly surprised. I will certainly consider Best Western for my next family trip.
Picked this place because it was close to the beach, my friends I was visiting, and centrally located for a variety of food options. I will definitely be returning to stay here again. My room location on the top floor was nice and quiet too.
When I travel for business, I look for great value. I'm only sleeping in my room, so I don't much care about the rest. The room was great. Best part, the bed was not too soft, not too firm. The air conditioning unit was quiet. That is a biggie for me. And, best of all, they had a bunch of extra pillows already in the room if I needed them. Another biggie, the curtains closed all the way and there was no outside ambient lighting to disturb my sleep. Great selection of TV stations as well. In-room microwave and fridge made the room all the better. A little outdated in terms of decor and could be described as basic, but for the price, a real gem and a home run. As a serious business traveler, all of the boxes were ticked for me.

The room was clean and cheerful. The bed was comfortable. The help was great from the desk check in to the maid. The service was helpful and professional. The breakfast was really terrific, you couldn't possibly ask for anything else. The price was a little more than we wanted to pay but it was the Labor Day Weekend
It's a great place. Great attention from everyone but Mayra and Ana were the best hostess. Really nice place, close enough to the beach (5 minutes in car). Nice rooms, really clean, and the breakfast is okey.
This is the best place I have stayed at in along time. Very clean and good breakfast. Every staff I came in contact with was very helpful. I like how when you get to your room the staff will call and ask if everything is ok with the room.
$170.99 Room Rate + $22.23 Taxes & Fees = $193.22 for one night at a MOTEL (notice I said "Motel" not "Hotel"). Funny how they are branded as Best Western "Hotels & Resorts" which I find very deceptive & disappointing. I don't see how this facility is any different from a Motel 6 aside from charging 3 times the price.
Good time in your hotel The breakfast is simple and could be improved Good situation to the hotel closed to the beach and the facility I work with Team is simpatic with everytime I good tack with them M. Dauvergne
Check in total hotel staff was very friendly and courteous helped with questions on some of the attractions in the area. Many of the area we were seeing where a short drive from the hotel. Very close to the downtown area and the beach. Many close food options within a short drive. had many shopping options very close like Costco and Wal-Mart and other small shopping stores. Pool and hot tub were very nice.
Like I said above. Friendly staff, good breakfast, clean rooms, conveniently located. Near the beach, near Walmart, near pharmacy, near a whole Foods store, near several restaurants, the rooms were quiet.
Basically a Motel, but very close to all attractions and beach. Has clean pool and hot tub. Very clean and has nice breakfast buffet with eggs, sausage, potatoes, pancake machine, and usual other breakfast items. Met our conditions of a less expensive accomodation for 4 days. Parking can be tight. Overall very good for the money. They lock up the ice machine room at 10PM just when you need ice fordrinks.
Friendly staff, clean grounds, nice, clean, spacious rooms. The beds were comfortable with nice, fluffy pillows. The breakfast buffet was convenient and had good options. Kids loved the pool! Less than 10 minutes to the beach.
Ana and Crystal at the front desk were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean! the showers were awesome. The breakfast was tasty and filling and I will definately stay here again. Great location also
Every person I dealt with at this hotel was knowledgeable and friendly. I needed to check in early, and I was told up-front that they would try, but could not guarantee I would be able to, depending on if they had rooms available. I like that they were honest with me from the beginning. Turned out that they did have a room ready when we got there, and everything ended on a positive note.
Stayed here for two nights at end of holidays. Compared to other hotels locally this is excellent value for money and not too far from the beach - a five min drive. Room was spacious, clean well appointed. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast ample and free coffee in reception as well. Pool looked nice, though we didn't use. Ample parking and free, Seriously, if you're looking for a hotel in Huntingdon Beach area and don't mind being two miles inland - you won't find a better place than this. Highly delighted.
Room was clean and taken care, the complimentary breakfast was great and kept clean, employees were helpful and nice. My only thought is that I would have not have been happy if we had a room on the third floor.
we enjoyed our stay with this hotel, which is close to the beaches, restaurants. we liked the nice hot shower, the comfortable bed, flat screen television, and nice clean room. the swimming pool was clean, same as the Jacuzzi. the breakfast was great with the usual fare and scrambled eggs, sausage links, hot pancakes from pancake maker, fruit juices, milk, cereal, peanut butter and jelly, breads, bagels, and yogurt.
This hotel is located in the perfect spot....freeway close and also beach close. Close to downtown Huntington Beach. Hotel is beautifully decorated. Free breakfast is delicious. Nice pool and spa. Good wifi connection.
Very clean roooms, not far to the beach by car, a lot of restaurants in small distance to the Hotel, great pool and Whirlpool, polite and caring employees, great breakfast! We had a great time there, thank you guys!
Enjoyed our 4 night stay. Hot breakfast is nice, especially with a young family. Conveniently located to HB for fun in the sun, but priced within reason. Pool and hot tub area were clean and not too busy. We will be staying here again.
Easy to find, great reception. Easy access to the Huntington Beach pier, restaurants and the beaches. Also because of location, you can head north to Disneyland and attractions such as Honda Center and The Big A.
The staff was very friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. There was a great variety of food for breakfast. The bed was very comfortable. There is plenty of parking and you are not charged to park. It is conveniently located to the beach and many types of restaurants.
The BW Surf City is a good "way station" with clean and comfortable rooms, a pleasant staff, within short driving distance to the beach and restaurants. Breakfast is "standard BW, but ample in a nice breakfast room.
Great place to stay , good location . Good employees , room clean , breakfast the best , front desk does the best job . The pool was fun . Lots of restaurants and things to do in the local area . Three miles from the Pier .
I arrived travelling by myself from Melbourne, Australia not really knowing what to expect. I was visiting friends who were locals in the area but staying by myself. The ability to be able to have people meet in a spacious and comfortable hotel room made the trip that much better. Stable access to WiFi, variety of choice when it came to Television, and the location only a couple of miles from the beach and less to most popular food spots made it easy to have an amazing time. Beds were so comfortable I didn't even miss my own one at home which is a first for me!! The pool was a beautiful temperature no matter the time of day - washing facilities made it possible to survive the three weeks and the workers who serviced all rooms were always able to provide me with resupplies of various toiletries/amenities. I'd like to thank the staff for being so gracious and helpful anytime I needed - and i will be staying here again when I come back - hopefully sooner rather than later - would recommend to anyone and everyone. The only thing that would have been even better is if the pool was open for longer hours - but by the same token it's understandable why to ensure that noise levels are kept low enough so guests aren't disturbed - Suitable for young and old, families, couples or singles - Best Western Surf City has my business whenever I am in Huntington Beach again!!!
I stayed here multiple nights during our Water Polo tournament. Beds were really comfortable with nice bedding. We took LYFT to the beach for $8. We ate breakfast everyday at the hotel. All the necessities...bagels, pancakes, cereal, toast, scrambled eggs, sausage. If you don't plan on staying in the room (water polo games all over Orange County) this is the perfect spot. There are plenty of restaurants for every pallet. I would stay here again.
Our stay was great! The room was clean and the beds were firm and comfortable. Breakfast was great, including hot foods (eggs, sausage/bacon, has brown patties, pancakes) and plenty of other options. Staff were really friendly and helpful. A minor maintenance question was addressed promptly. I would definitely stay here again.
This budget hotel offers a convenient location to the beach, free breakfast and ample parking. The hotel is older and could use a full renovation, but the price was right so I can't complain. You have to cross the parking lot to get to the pool - it's not terrible, just a sign of the age of the layout of the hotel. The breakfast was actually pretty decent, we ate there each morning. The room furnishing could use some help (the chair was filthy and stained), but the beds were clean and that's what counts for me.
Excellent location with easy access, very pleasant staff, full breakfast including scrambled eggs and hash browns, fresh fruit, and lots more, pool with towels available. We would stay here again. Our room had very comfortable queen beds with lots of pillows.
i normally do not stay in places where the room doors are to the outside of the building but I will tell you I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the rooms where. And the staff Theresa and Jeanie were wonderful and help make a work visit a semi vacation!
We picked this hotel due to the proximity to the beach. The AC didn't really work and the overall stay here was sub par. If you are just looking for a place to sleep and don't care about much else then go here. Breakfast here not for us. Not a quiet place if you're looking for that either. Staff was kind so we appreciated that. Our room smelled pretty awful and our room was very poorly lit. Rooms were slightly depressing in my opinion. For a weekend we made it work.. worth it for a short drive down the PCH to the beach.
The ladies at the check in counter were super nice. They had genuine smiles and were very comfortable with small talk. They welcomed us to lounge around in the lobby and play a game with the kids. When I said we should probably leave the lady alone, she assured us that we were entertaining and no problem at all. There's a box of 'conversation starters' game on the lobby table that we were playing and also solving the rubics cube for hotel points. There was a good breakfast that they refilled every time it ran out - even 15 minutes before breakfast was over. Great coffee and tea available at all times in the lobby was greatly appreciated. Good location in Huntington Beach. lots to do within a 10 minute drive. Very reasonable rates, beach front hotels are $500 to $1000 per night and not always affordable. This was a welcomed, more affordable option.
Was surprised to pull up and find a motel setting. I might have missed that in description. I don't like that set up when traveling with daughters. Though it was a quiet night thankfully. I'm not sure why everyone has rated this so highly. I know the area is expensive but to spend over $150 a night for a BW is ridiculous. Yes there is free parking, free wifi and free breakfast and think that lures everyone in. Beds have rough sheets and blanket. Crappy pillows. Nasty thin carpet. Staff at desk were helpful which is worth a point.
Not as close to the beach ask would like, but the room was less than half price of the oceanfront rooms. Staff is friendly and room was clean. Nearby area was tolerable. Very pleasant experience for entire family
Stayed 4/20/16-4/24/16..on 4/21 we took the private sign off to have house keeping come in..we came back nothing was done. 4/22 catalina trip..out of room from 8am-6:30pm..housekeeping came and LEFT THE DOOR AJAR..OPEN..nothing was taken thank god BUT what if it was? whose fault would it be?? proceeded downstairs to talk to a manager but no manger was available Gabriella behind the desk apologized and gave a us a bag that you would give a departing guest (apple/water). A half hour later someone tried to get into our room! if we were not there guess what? They would have been successful! The next day i head downstairs to the desk and confirm that a manager was told..i was told "it was logged in the daily notes" according to theresa..We never saw a manager and the only thing that was done about this was "we spoke to housekeeping and told the maids to make sure the doors are locked." In the long run we should have never entered the room after noticing the door was open. That action, as a frequent traveler, was dumb. The irresponsibility of housekeeping and the lack of management involvement is apparent at this property
If you are looking for somewhere to go to sleep without too many bells and whistles this would be it. The rooms are large but dated. They are clean but dated. The breakfast works for everyone. They even have gluten free products. Staff is amazing overall. This is what make this place. Front desk ladies rock. The pool and hot-tub are small but clean and work well for a quick relaxing moment at the end of the day. For the price you can't go wrong.
Great! We have always enjoyed staying at this location of the Best Western chain. It is close to our family and to the beach and downtown Huntington Beach, CA. It is the best value in the Huntington Beach, CA area.
Clean, quiet location yet close to the beach, friendly staff. The pool is a plus. Decent breakfast (limited choices of items, only a few tables in the dining area). The rooms are due for some upgrades but noting major
The hotel was conveniently located to meet family to exchange grandchildren and meet further daughter in-laws family. Did not spend much time in hotel as we left the next day. I will probably stay there again for the Sam reasons.
Customer service was excellent. Theresa at the desk was extremely helpful and pleasant will stay there again breakfast was very good pool nice and clean all around a good hotel all the help they were very professional.
Loved my stay here, I would definitely come again. FD clerks very sweet and welcoming, was the cherry on top. The bed was like a cloud from heaven, the carpet was clean, bathroom was clean. We enjoyed our stay overall!
Second time I've stayed here. The interior has been renovated about 5+ years ago. So, the bed mattress is comfy. Just wished they had more plugs by the bed so I wouldn't have to unplug the lamp and sit in the dark. The exterior maintenance is excellent being fairly close to the beach with salty air. The staff and services were excellent. The pool was clean and the spa was hot but I didn't see any pool towels available when I entered in the evening. The bathroom is small and bland and the breakfast area is small compared to newer hotels but when the room rates are reasonable being 3 miles from the beach, it deserves a higher than normal mark for a 2 or 3 star motel. I would not spend more than $137 here unless there was a major event in the area and all other hotels are booked.
Very satisfied, great value, Good variety of breakfast items, clean rooms large rooms really liked the king queen combo room, would definelty stay here again. Will recommend to family and friends. Close to Disney land
We were here for a family Memorial Service, so it was not entirely a pleasure trip. For 38 yrs. we have been going to Huntington Beach annually and stayed with a family member. However, our Matriarch has passed away and so the family stayed here. As a travel consultant I have recommended this hotel to other family members who have stayed here in the past. When in Huntington Beach I will not hesitate to stay here again.
Whirlwind trip for a conference: LAX Meet & Greet, accompany for awards dinner at Mission and early AM airport departure. Very few hours in room, a few hours of sleep. Nice coffee machine, comfortable room.
Family was here from New York . stayed for 4 days. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast good too.rooms very nice and comfortable. Gave us adjoining rooms. That was great too. Theresa was so nice and very helpful!!
I didn't find that the hotel went above and beyond as I've experienced in other locations. The AC wasn't working very well as the fan would not go higher than lowest and it doesn't appear that they fixed it after I complained a bit. We also noticed that it was blowing both cool and hot air, but I never got a definitive answer on if anything was fixed. They were accommodating to us on a late checkout and the breakfast was a standard lower end with pancakes, cereal, eggs, sausage, potatoes, juice. Overall I was pleased with the breakfast arrangements. I haven't received points yet for the stay, but I expect them any day now.
Very clean hotel, further from the beach for what they charge. Make sure you verify reservations. Made reservation 90 days before trip, only to find res center botched it. Hotel staff very friendly, bed very comfortable, room clean.
I opted to stay on Beach Blvd to avoid all the noise and confusion of the Pacific Coast Highway Best Western in Huntington Beach. It is not fancy but clean and provides a good breakfast. It has a pool and hot tub and plenty of parking.
This is an older style hotel with three floors of rooms all facing the parking lot. The room was large, had a table and two chairs, microwave, and refrig. The room was decent but found a hair or two in the shower (ugh didn't notice till I was already in). A free breakfast was included. There is a pool (I didn't use). There is a large day care right in front of the parking lot and the kids were super noisy in the afternoon. Luckily, they weren't out early in the morning. It is a short drive to the beach and the town. I paid $129 for for the first two nights and $189 for Friday night. Seems pricey for the final day for this hotell, but I guess its Huntington Beach pricing.
We enjoyed our stay in the hotel, the staff were excellent. Our king bed suite suited us well. Ours was a family visit to experience the beach and we found the local bus stops handy to go to and from the pier etc. A good stay at a reasonable price. The pool was enjoyed by the 3 generations of us.
We were in Huntington Beach for a surf contest and needed a home base. We usually choose BW+ hotels. This particular hotel doesn't have much curb appeal, but the beds were comfortable; the bed linens were really comfy; and the bathroom was very clean/updated/bright/large. There's a pool and hot tub in the parking lot. Overall, I would stay here again if staying in Huntington Beach for a few days.
This is a great little hotel. The breakfast was fantastic with many options to choose from, hotel staff was very friendly and housekeeping did a fantastic job at keeping the room clean. The room was great and always clean, it had lots of space, the fridge kept everything cold, microwave was great for reheating leftovers, bathroom was huge and I loved the whirlpool fantastic for soaking in after a long day of activities without having to use the hot tub downstairs. The pool area was clean and nice to swim/soak in on lazy days while the chairs were great for soaking up some sun. This hotel is smack in the middle near everything: food, stores, gas stations, liquor stores for the adults, and just a quick 5-10 minute trip from the beach. I loved my stay here and will definitely go back there for any further vacations to California
This motel is just your average middle priced motel. Nothing special. Clean rooms, pool looked clean. They have a free breakfast with lots to choose from. Staff was very friendly. The only thing I didn't like was my room was directly across from the trash area and there were trash bags all around the ground. Not very appealing.
Wonderful place to stay. Amenities are good, pool is lovely, breakfast is a complete meal and location is perfect. Close to grocery stores, shops and beach. Easy access to the 405 making getting around all of Orange County and LA a snap. My family will use this hotel again!
Awesome employees; polite, courteous, rooms clean, wake-up-call on time. Maintenance Staff replaced the telephone and light bulbs asap right after a phone call. Manager always smiling and willing to assist you whatever your request might be.
I grew up in this area of Southern California, so while on a recent business trip, we decided to stay here. The hotel and services were actually great. It is a three-story hotel, with large, spacious, comfortable, and clean rooms. The bathroom, while not too large, was super clean and stocked with lots of fresh towels. Mini refrigerator and little coffee maker in the room. Free cable TV (somewhat limited channels). Excellent free WIFI. Theresa, an associate at the front desk, was as helpful and nice as she could be! The hotel serves a very nice, free breakfast each morning. Coffee, fruit, eggs, cereal, etc. There is a really nice small swimming pool on the property, and a large, free parking lot. A double room was between $175-$195/night, depending on which website you used to book the room. The only reason I didn't rate this hotel as excellent is the location. Beach Boulevard has cleaned up substantially since I was a kid. However, there is nothing directly around the hotel to do. You are about 2 miles from the beach. I do appreciate the fact that unlike wealthier areas of the Southern California coastline, Huntington Beach has remained relatively undeveloped. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. Check out Don the Beachcombers and Wahoo's Fish Tacos for superb entertainment and food, respectively, in the area.
This hotel is okay. I enjoyed the cleanliness, friendliness of staff, and proximity to the beach. Compared to other CA hotels of similar rates, the breakfast is subpar and the proximity to a major street caused me to wake a couple of times due to noisy cars speeding down the road. If I were to return to Huntington Beach I would not be opposed to staying here again. Thanks!
Teresa at the front desk was Very helpful & friendly...Betty does an Awesome job with the cleanliness of the room...staff where breakfast is served were very nice!!! Please think about putting in Black out curtains and weights sown in hem to keep them from blowing up when you have the fan or air on!!!
This is our third stay at this Best Western. Everyone is helpful, polite and friendly. Rooms are clean and comfortable, lots of amenities. Fun pool. Great breakfast. We would definitely stay here again.
I enjoyed my stay. The ladies at the front desk were very warm and professional. They were EXCELLENT!! The room was clean and neatly arranged. I enjoyed the location. It was close to everything. It was an enjoyable stay.
Comfortable stay....Clean rooms, Great breakfast and Friendly employees. Close to beach (Sand Soccer Tournament) and Restaurants. Only wish our weekend wasn't so cold, windy and rain!! We will definitely stay at BW Surf City again and hope our next visit to Huntington Beach will be weather friendly!
Nice hotel close to the beach, which means that the prices are a bit higher than other Best Westerns in the area. Outside corridors also make the rooms a bit noisier than some of the other Best Westerns in the area that have interior hallways. The rooms are clean and modern, and the staff is excellent.
Located on the main road up from the beach and surrounded by strip malls, it's not the prettiest location in SoCal, but if you are only sleeping here you could certainly do worse. The room was spacious and clean. Everything about the accommodation was average. The towels were a bit on the thin side, but serviceable. There was a work desk, fridge, microwave and coffee maker, easy chair and TV. There is a free onsite parking, a pool and included breakfast is in the lobby. There are many restaurants and shopping centres along the boulevard so finding something to eat was easy. I only stayed one night and it was comfortable.
Awesome private in room Jacuzzi! Takes about a 10min uber rider to get to the beach front from the hotel. Decent all you can eat self service breakfast, usual stuff - pancake machine, juices, coffee, sausages, etc etc
Front desk accommodated my change in reservation since my flight didn't get in. Big rooms, looks like recently renovated with newer bathroom, microwave, fridge, coffee maker. There were 4 of us and there was plenty of room. Nice but small pool area, even though we didn't use it. Very much a motel but clean and had everything we needed.
I stay at a Best Western somewhere for roughly 4 months out of the year. The price for this location in Huntington Beach is just a tad too high for the quality you receive. That being said, they do have an excellent friendly and courteous staff. The quality of the day to day items like shampoo and soap are much better than the typical Best Western. Breakfast is very good both in quantity and quality, however, be prepared to take it to your room because the dining room is quite small. Great for a weekday stay, I would avoid on the weekends unless you have to stick to a tight budget.
Room was surprisingly large. It was clean and quiet. Full hot breakfast was a definite plus. A good value for the money. Lots of restaurants in the vicinity. Pool look nice and clean - we did not use it due to time constraints. Bed was OK, a little too firm for me, but that is a personal issue.
We've stayed here the past few years when we come to HB to visit our son. Our rooms are always clean and close to the lobby as my hubby has back problems. The breakfast are delicious and hot and the coffee is excellent. I enjoyed the hot tub this time but the pool was a little to cold for me. We visited the end of march and April. I would highly recommend staying here. The desk clerks are always so friendly and helpful. This hotel is also close to the beach and downtown HB.
We chose this hotel because of the cost and reviews, it can be quite an expensive town to take a vacation in. Check-in was quick & easy, staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and fresh with quality toiletries too. The pool was clean and towels and loungers were provided for added comfort. had it to ourselves most of the time. Breakfast was great the first morning however there wasn't any available seating the following morning which made it difficult to enjoy. The choice was extensive and replenish regularly by staff but they definitely need a bigger area or alternative. I would have chosen to be nearer to the beach if I had realised as we had to drive and pay quite expensive parking too. There was some noise due to the location of the hotel, quite noisy when in the pool
Stayed here because it was super close to the surgery institute. Rooms were clean and nice. Fridge and microwave. Close to the supermarket, Urgent Care and pharmacy. Lots of little stores with in walking distance. Beach about a mile and a half away. Theresa at the front desk was very helpful and caring! We were in need and she did everything she could to accommodate us make our stay a pleasant one!
The Best Western Surf City Hotel was the perfect location for my trip. Me, my girlfriend, and best friend worked a festival in Hunington Beach and we stayed here. It was a great spot. Local food places near by, pharmacy was nearby, and the site itself had great amenities. The staff was amazing and very helpful. The roomshit were clean, the bedding was great, and the shower was magnificent. I would recommend staying there any time I am in Hunington Beach.
This was a wonderful place to stay! The room was very fresh and felt clean. There was multiple fresh towels, blankets and pillows. And the service was great, everyone was so nice! My friends and I had a very enjoyable stay and would recommend it to anyone!
I was attending a nephews wedding and the whole family stayed at Best Western. Eight or nine rooms were needed. The rooms were large and clean. Since we needed a gathering place, the manager, Mihir Mehta let us use the dining room in the evenings to gather. With more than 20 people, it was the perfect spot for us. Thank you Mihir for all you did for us.
My daughter and I love everything about this Hotel! We come every 6 months or so to enjoy some beach life. It's always a pleasure to end a long day at this Hotel. Beds are comfy, rooms are clean, and the Staff is beyond amazing!
Amazing Rooms and big beds and so close to everything beach and restaurants .. In the Albertsons parking lot on Beach Blvd try the Italian and mex restaurant family owned great food ... short drive to the beach
This was a very nice hotel. The office staff were very friendly. The breakfast was AWESOME and close to Huntington Beach. We enjoyed it very much. We found that it was a very very quiet area and the pool and spa were extremely clean.
Take the time to look into this hotel. It is a little older, but clean. The staff were very available and approachable. The breakfast was just right and the price was very reasonable. I will be back next year!
We stayed in this hotel while on a trip for sightseeing, and visiting friends in the area. The location was perfect. Just a short drive to the beach, and in an area where stores and restaurants were close and easy to find. The hotel was clean and quiet. It was perfect for what we needed. We also loved that the room had a microwave and a fridge. The free breakfast was simple but good. My Mother was thrilled that they had tea bags in the room. The only negative was that the coffee pot needed to be cleaned. She tried to run hot water through it, but it came out brown. I'm sure that can be easily fixed!
We originally were located at a hotel in long beach but decided to switch hotels due to undisclosed construction occurring at our hotel. We decided to relocate to Huntington beach and selected the best western to stay at. The staff members were more than willing to accommodate our transfer and were extremely helpful in guiding us to tourist friendly places and on how to get there. Customer service was amazing, rooms were clean and located Ina safe area made it possible for us to enjoy our trip! Definitely a 5 star rating!
The room was clean. The bed needed another blanket which we fetched ourselves. This was an "Income Tax Trip" and closely portended the results of the meeting. The room had precious little to brag about. Anything there was, had no multiples for our use and enjoyment. We own Cabins in Show Low, AZ. .. we give our guests far more - for LESS per night. I think that the price was too high for what was provided. This was the last of many stays at The BW Regency - aka BW Surf City. Also, the "Booking" site was down so their Booking Broker could NOT do the job for us - I had to call the "Surf City" office to get a reservation, After giving all the information to the Booking Agent; I put my Credit Card on their watch list - where I still am collecting notifications and calls.
Stayed one night on it way back to LAX check in good and hotel was not very occupied. We had the room right next top service entrance and between 3pm and 6pm when we checked in the constant noise was terrible do not take this room number 61 I think it is also net to the drinks machines so people gather. Sadly most of the noise was service staff shouting and having a chat right outside our room. Think need reminding this is a hotel and they have guests not a social party. Couldn't really walkt to anything apart from a CVS or petrol station.Rooms dated and both like picture. Just ok for quick stop
We stayed here for over approx. 10 days while waiting for my apartment to be ready for move in. Good neighborhood, right by Walgreens, and fast food. Their is a shoddy strip mall with a really old local bar, a marijuana dispensary and liquor store, pizza joint-- all in a row to either indulge or ignore. I would avoid that tiny strip mall all together at night at the corner of Yorktown and beach. The rooms were cleaned every day, the pool was nice, staff was pleasant and even had washer and dryer on premises that really helped out. I would stay here again if I didn't live here already.
Standard motel layout ie lobby reception with outside room entrance. We stayed in room 106 bottom floor next to the vending machines which I thought may be noisy but for one night I can ear plug myself up ! However for a nice surprise the room was spacious fairly modern but lovely clean. And as for the noise we both slept like a teenager in love , and coupled with a nice breakfast a perfect short stay hotel????
Older property with outside room entrances which is not our preference, but the inside of the room was surprisingly nice and appeared recently updated. Beds were quite comfy, and breakfast was good tho the menu didn't change in the 3 days we were there. Overall an above average stay.
Overall it was a nice stay. We had a clean room, the breakfast area has a lot to choose from. The building is older, so you can hear a lot of outside noise, and the feet of others when they're walking. Not a deal breaker at all for us, just an observation.
Hard to imagine that this place had Trip Advisor cert of excellence in their lobby. As is our practice upon checking in we check the bed / mattress -- imagine our bad surprise when we lifted the mattress to look for bugs but instead found dozens of condoms and a roll of aluminum foil between mattress and box springs - really?? Not sure what type of guests have been staying there but we could not get out fast enough -- would never ever recommend this place!
We recently spent the weekend here to visit family. The hotel is on a main road with great shopping and restaurants nearby. The pool and spa were clean with great lounge chairs and tables. Our grandkids enjoyed themselves swimming while the adults visited during the evenings there. The breakfast was great and the price was just right!
This hotel is a 5 min drive to the beaches , it is an older hotel and rooms were very dark but the rooms were very clean , we had free parking and breakfast which offered a great choice a really good coffee ! The staff were all friendly and helpful , very good value
The first stay on our California road trip. The hotel was clean and comfortable if a little tired in places. This was more than made up fro by the staff. A more cheerful and welcoming bunch of people it would be hard to find.Of particular mention was Bradi in the dining room. Despite being old enough to be her grandparents she took the time to chat to us and recommend the stunning resort of Corona Del Mar as a lovely place to visit. Her mum was also a great character. Also Parker who was in charge of the hot breakfast. A lovely young man who couldn't do enough to help. All a real credit to the hotel.
My wife and I spent the night here for the Surf City Run 2016. I checked trip advisor for the area and found that the reviews for this place were good. Booked the place and was pleasantly satisfied that all the good reviews were correct!! The hotel is about 2 miles from the beach and the staff was very nice and pleasant. Room was great! I have nothing bad to say about it. Breakfast was incredible and above what I even imagined. Not just your "normal" muffins but eggs, sausage, hash brown, pancakes, cereal, and a few drinks to choose from!! I would definately stay here again and recommend it. Enjoy your stay...
This is an older style motel, three stories with rooms all facing the parking lot, and a few rooms on the facing Beach Ave. We stayed here for 5 nights, our room was clean and well serviced. The pool looked clean and inviting, although we never got a chance to use it. The mattresses on the beds were somewhat worn, but other than that we had no complaints. Hot breakfast every morning was a plus, although the eating space was quite cramped with only 4 tables or so. Lobby staff always smiled and said hello as we passed through. Would recommend this motel to anyone looking for clean close accommodations at a reasonable price.
Amazing hotel. Great Staff. Samuel was the best and very attentive. Good area. Pool and spa were crystal clear. Ground was free of trash. Clean rooms. Can't wait to come back. They will even let you plug in your electric vehicle.
The hotel is near all the attractions in Huntington Beach. Its an older hotel but extremely well maintained. Hotel staff is excellent. Access to the rooms is from the outside. Given the nearly year-round perfect weather SurfCity enjoys, leaving the room door open delivers a wonderful cool dry breeze.
The room was satisfactory, plenty of space, clean, nice spacious bathroom. The hotel offered buffet breakfast each morning with hot and cold items and fresh fruit which was satisfactory. All of the staff were professional and helpful. Enjoyed the central location of this hotel making it very convenient to travel for business in Newport Beach and the general Orange County area. There is no shortage of restaurant and retail stores on Beach Blvd. Plenty of good places to eat.
This hotel is wonderful. Close to the beach and also fairly close to the freeway. Very quiet. Wonderful complimentary breakfast. Quick wifi connection. Beautiful pool area. Rooms are spacious and well equipped as well as clean and comfortable.
The Best Western Surf City is a good location - off beach but still a very reasonable drive to beach (5 minutes). While we were there, the hotel was offering a promo that reimbursed us for one day of beach parking. Hotel was a good choice for the price - clean, comfy, good breakfast and easy hotel parking. We even got early check-in, which we love.
The staff here was very welcoming and accommodating, from check in to check out everyone went out of their way to make sure we had a good visit. Even let us know to allow extra time for traffic to the airport. The room was spotless and spacious. Also very quiet, considering we stayed over Surf City weekend and there were plenty of people having a good time.
This hotel was picked based on based on being too tired to drive any farther. Found Cesar very friendly and quick at check in. Happy to find a nice breakfast in the morning. Room was clean. A little worn around the edges. The desk chair looked like it had been dragged behind a car. Air conditioner worked.
Pulling into the driveway we didn't think it was going to be that great but we were pleasantly surprised! The room was very clean! The bed was comfortable! Extra pillows! Free Wi-Fi! Free and Delicious breakfast with lots of choices, eggs, hash browns, sausage, pancakes, cereal. etc. Very roomy! A Wonderful hot tub & pool! Plenty of parking! Very close to The Beach, Disney, and Restaurants! Best of all, The staff was very helpful & nice!
Compact hotel with good pool and jacuzzi and full breakfast. Internet is fast, though it often required a daily log in for operation. Sufficient parking (with a courtesy parking pass provided), nearby a Wallmart plaza with lots of stores for anything you need. No traffic noise as it is set back from Beach Boulevard. Very friendly and courteous staff. Only negative is lack of personal toiletries with a reliance on soap/shampoo dispenser in shower instead.
A Very Nice Best Western!! We were impressed with the size of the room and amenities. Great location! Close to one of our favorite beaches and pier! Close to Downtown Huntington, which has great places to eat and is fun to explore! Clean and comfortable!! Three stories with outside hallways and elevator. Would stay again and recommend to others!! :-)
Stayed here for three nights using it as a base for Huntington and surrounding areas. The room was clean and very comfortable and the breakfast was the best we had during our tour of California. Staff were very helpful and friendly.Would come back here.
Well where do I start, The staff at this hotel which includes Theresa, Caesar ( I hope I spelled that right) and Michael, have been so amazing. I am what I consider a pain in the ))**(&* patron although I do not try to be, but the staff mentioned above have gone way beyond the norm to make sure that all my needs are taken care of on a regular basis. Thank you guys for putting up with me and making the process of checking in so pain free considering my circumstances. I love your hospitality. So if anyone gets a chance to stay at this wonderfully clean hotel with the most helpful staff ever, you absolutely should. It is always nice to come back here
After my "5 HOUR" drive from Santa Barbara I approached the reception desk a bit stressed out. The drivers on the 405 are insane! As soon as I was greeted by a very sweet man (I wish I would have asked his name), I was able to relax and laugh about the horrible drive. When I entered my king room I was very impressed, by the size of the room and how clean it was. The bed was also comfortable. Next time I will take a top floor room, because the person in the room above me paced the length of their room over and over, and this person was not lite on his/her feet! I will be returning to the area in the future, after my niece has her baby, and I will stay there again.
May and Mike were wonderful! They were very friendly and helpful and made sure that my wife and I had all the information we needed to make our stay that much better. The room was very clean and the restroom was stocked and very clean as well. The breakfast was outstanding and to be honest with you, we couldn't had ask for anything better for breakfast! Eggs, potatoes, sausage, toast, hot and cold cereal, pancakes, etc. This was a very enjoyable stay and would go back to this motel on our next visit!
Canceled with a better hotel as this one had better reviews big mistake this one was overpriced for a old worn out room, tub did not work sink did not drain !!! paid $200 for a $50 room will never go back to this hotel
We had two adjoining rooms on the 2nd floor. Both had 2 beds, but one had a king and a double and was considerably larger, which was nice. It had newer carpet and bedding, but dated furniture. The desk chairs are uncomfortable, and are ripped, needing to be replaced. The pillows were horrible - too big and overstuffed. The larger room seemed to be updated a little more as it had a newer a/c unit. The one in the smaller room was old and extremely loud. The toilet/tub room is very small as the door barely clears the toilet, which was a bit of a challenge. This is an old style hotel with windows along the walkways and parking lot, so it can be a little noise. The good news is they seem to have a strict noise/partying policy and we didn't have any problems. The pool area is in the middle of the parking lot. The pool and area are small, but very clean and equipped with lots of chairs. As for the breakfast, it was not very good. Typical stale bagels, muffins, yogurt cups, juice and coffee and cereal. Some kind of oatmeal maker and pancake maker. They also had eggs, a potato, and sausage, all of which was very salty. The area is very small with only a few tables. If it is crowded, plan on eating outside or taking it back to the room. Would we stay here again? Yes for the price and for the location we needed it to be. It was clean and the staff friendly. It's about a 5 minute drive straight down to the beach where you can park in the lot for $15.00 per day or on the street with meter parking. Super easy, if you go early.
The location is perfect for either the beach, Knott's Berry Farm or both! It is clean both inside and out, the staff are very friendly and helpful, especially May - she was just great! The breakfasts are very well stocked with some really great items. The fridge in the room was very cold and there were extra pillows in the closet. The pool and spa were great too. Although our family did not need them, it was really pleasing to note the two chair assist machines - one by the spa and one by the pool. I assume this would be used for someone with a special need to allow them the ability and freedom to swim too. Very cool!
For folks with families on vacation this is probably a decent option here. For business travelers expect to hear people on the floor above, neighbors TV from rooms with a connecting door, and the occasional slamming door. Probably pretty normal stuff for a budget family oriented hotel. Room was clean and reasonably updated.Price good for this area.
Location was not too far from beach. Our room ground floor near pool was handy for the kids. Many items to choose from for breakfast! Rooms were clean and spacious. Overall very nice and clean! Front Desk was very helpful and nice! Would stay again if in the area!
Room was clean, simple and the beds were very comfortable. The fridge was cold, extra pillows and blanket in the huge open closet nestled in the back away from view. Quiet at night, during the day a little loud due to the screams of children at the daycare next door, but you should be at the beach, right?! There are grocery stores close by and the beach is just a three minute drive away.
The first morning of our stay, we were notified that there would be no water from 9:00 am to noon. That meant early wake up to make sure we got in a shower. No water to even flush the toilet. Office staff not particularly friendly, just business. Overall, the stay was very nice. The room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was good. Crowded in the dining room. We would stay here again.
This property is located on east side of Beach Boulevard so if your traveling down south you will have to go to the light and make a U turn. Being close to a major street you can hear traffic noise from passing vehicles I suspect it would diminish the further you are away. Being on the second floor of four I could hear the tenants from the third floor walking around. I found the in room AC worked great and the breakfast options where better than most. Candy at the front desk was friendly and helpful.
We only stayed one night after graduation. Room was large enough for 4 of us, convenient having a fridge for leftovers, table & chairs for cards or board game. Free parking. Location was not near beach but was convenient to suit our needs.
The location is not the greatest, but the service was excellent. Kudos to the staff for letting us arrive late and using the microwave for heating our leftovers from Don Jose. Caesar greeted us when we arrived and went out of his way to make sure our stay was comfortable. The jacuzzi was pleasant, but it closes at 10:00pm. I laughed at the "pancake" machine that produced barely edible results. Luckily, Denny's was close by. All in all it was a pleasant experience.
This Best Western was just average. I have stayed at several Best Westerns all along the West coast and Northwest coast of the US recently and I gave great reviews of them all except for this one, which is in my own back yard. The room was average and the price was high. No microwave and we were given a senior room with a shower chair etc when we didn't ask for one.
Upon arrival, check in was smooth and easy. They did require a $100 deposit since I booked on Expedia, but that was refunded IMMEDIATELY upon check-out. No snacks available at check in, just water and coffee. Room was a good size, beds and pillows were comfortable. Our room had a refrigerator but no microwave. Parking was free and sufficient. Pool was NOT heated. Overall, a decent stay. Only stayed one night since the hotel wouldn't honor the price from Expedia for us to extend our stay, so we moved to another Best Western for the next leg of our trip.
We spent two nights here. Our room was nice with 2 queen beds. Larger than we expected. We were near the back of the hotel so it was quiet. Breakfast was good with lots of options for everyone. The ladies at the front desk were very friendly. Loved being able to get to the Huntington Beach pier that was only 2 miles away.
On April 24,2016, I made a reservation for June 4, 2016. I received an email confirmation with the correct date. Our reservation was part of a block of rooms reserved for a wedding. Upon arrival, we were informed our reservation was for June 3, 2016 and there was no room available. After research, the hotel admitted its error and promised a room in approximately one hour. We told the manager we had to be at the wedding at that time and were assured that there was no problem. At 9:15 PM I received a phone call from Ceasar stating that there was no room for us. No offer to find us a room at another hotel, no options, no remedies. He admitted the error was theirs, but nothing he could do. 9:15 PM in a strange town. We were to be at the wedding for two more hours. No assistance. We drove two hours, late at night, to get home. This is the worst service I have ever received from any hotel.
Clean and very close (2 miles) to the beach. The staff was very attentive to our needs. Any requests we had were answered very quickly. Thanks Cesar for making it an enjoyable stay! We will definitely recommend this site.
These were the best rooms within miles of the beach. The rooms are very large and well appointed., Teresa the front desk agent was excellent! I will return again and recommend everyone wanting the best deal for your money to stay here!
We stayed here for one night while in Huntington Beach. The room was good enough for one night, especially because we didn't plan on being in the room much. It is an all exterior door building, with rooms typical of this style. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It met our expectations for the price paid.
I had an excellent and restful stay at this establishment. The entire staff were attentive and performed their assigned tasks in a professional manner. I enjoyed the small garden adjacent to the pool area. I am a cigar smoker and this was an excellent place to enjoy my cigar.
excellent hotel for the price. very close to the beach. easy access from the highway. All our friends who stayed there had the same feeling. Nice breakfast with many items. definitely would recommend to others.
We chose this place based off of all the stellar reviews and TripAdvisor's ranking. We were expecting more. They couldn't tell us whether they would have a crib available until we arrived. Luckily they did and there was no extra charge. I was hoping for a little sun time, but the pool was not heated so we couldn't take the baby in the pool. Also be aware that if you are here during the week, there is a day care right next door, so yelling and crying kids within feet of the pool. No pool ambiance in any way. It was basically a pool in a parking lot. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast very good and plentiful. They let us know when we checked in that no partying was allowed. Partying definitely occurred Saturday night along with a domestic dispute and broken bottles. I would probably give this motel a 2.5.
I cannot say enough about this place. I have stay here before and when I visit this area, I choose this place. the breakfast spread is an experience that you will enjoy, and it comes free with your room. Very clean and the staff very professional and friendly. A VERY NICE PLACE TO STAY.
This hotel has been renovated and is beautiful. Great location. Close to the beach and not far from the freeway. Free breakfast with large selection. Nice pool and spa. Rooms are comfortable and very clean.
Recently I stayed at the Best Western Surf City. It wasn't part of my plans, late at night, and I didn't have any reservations, but fortunately I was greeted by Jose with a warm smile and friendly service. He checked me in quickly and was very helpful. He saved the day! Thanks Jose!
Great motel. Looks like a run of the mill 70s' property from the street, then you go inside. The management is wonderful; the desk clerks well trained and outgoing, the breakfast room clean, tidy, and serving up a very nice self-service meal. EVERY employee I encountered was genuine and outgoing. The room was more than adequate. comfortable bed and linens, lots of pillows, a small fridge and GOOD coffee pods! Special shout out to Ceaser and Brianna at the front desk; two employees who both deserve praise.
We make an annual trip to see family. This is the best hotel in Huntington Beach. We have stayed here each of five years. Great value, comfortable facilities, accommodating staff, and prime location. We would never consider staying anywhere else.
Good location , Friendly staff , Decent breakfast . We have been coming here for over 15 years when we are in Huntington Beach. We are generally satisfied with this hotel but we do feel the price range now are up enough that other hotels closer to the Beach may be interesting...All in all , for carbuffs like us , the location is great for all that is going on in L.A.and Orange Cty.
Whenever my kids and I visit the beach we stay at a nearby hotel. So far nothing beats the style and comfort of Best Western. The continental breakfast is replete with automatic flapjack maker, all juices imaginable, and cute little trays. The beds are super comfy and the pillows are heavenly.
The hotel is very popular. The rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable. The free breakfast is fine, adequate, and just ok. It is a short drive to the beach and the action part of Huntington Beach. Not a bad price for the area.
Traveling with a two teens for beach time and concert at the Observatory. A straight shot to the beach from the motel, restaurants not walking distance, but short trip by car. Central to all that the area offers. The rooms are clean, comfortable beds w/lovely linens. Little scrimpy on the bath products, but no problem asking for more. We were in a room furthest away from office - excellent wifi connection. The guest computer near office is FAST, with a beautiful big monitor. Avoid rooms that face the stairs/elevator. Privacy/noise issues. Our room had a door between the bathroom and bedroom. Other rooms that only the toilet/shower was behind a door, the sink counter was open to the sleeping area. Washer and dryer available @ $2/load - convenient, as it was raining the days of our visit. Hot breakfast is basic, but you won't walk away hungry or thirsty. We walked down to Mother's Market and Kitchen for some delicious vegetarian meals and snacks.
It was definitely the worst hotel I've stay in for the past 8 years. However, I have mostly stayed at more luxurious types of hotels. Therefore, I will only compare my stay with other hotels that I have been in of the same star rating and quality caliber. This hotel was too pricey for its quality, and was inflexible. They experienced a blackout the night of my stay (the rest of the neighborhood had their lights on). i probably would not recommend this hotel, and I am not returning.
The Best Western is a logical choice for visiting Huntington Beach on a budget. The rooms are clean, and the cleaning service is top notch. Rooms are large, and the parking is free (something to note). I did not use the pool, but it is there if you need to swim. Breakfast is included, buffet style, and has options of pancakes, bagels, cereal and fruits. Quite a selection for a comp breakfast. As with many Best Westerns, you will have some ambient room / road noise, but the AC works and Dish Network TV had plenty of choices. Staff is friendly and takes their jobs seriously. Costs you about half of what it would to stay on the beach, and it is literally 10 minutes down the road.
My daughter and I stayed for five nights at the Best Western Regency Inn while sightseeing in So. Cal. The location is great, within two miles of the beach, the pier and tons of shops and restaurants, and only 20 minutes from Disneyland as well! Access to I-405 to one of several airports is also just a couple of miles away. The rooms have been refurbished very nicely, the lobby is open and friendly, the breakfasts (part of the stay) offer hot and cold meals, and everything is kept spotless. The pool and hot tub were clean, well kept and in great condition. Finally, the staff here are very friendly and knowledgeable. Great experience all around, but especially with Christine and May at the front desk. Christine took care of our reservations, ensuring we got exactly what we had paid for and did so courteously. May was a constant positive in our mornings...always cheerful and helpful. When I asked for something she jumped on it right away. I would definitely come back to this family-friendly, clean, safe and restful hotel!
Nice and clean. Good sized rooms. Well located in Huntington Beach so easy to get to the Beach and other places in town. Nice staff for the most part. Of course the breakfast is a joke but what can you expect, plenty of places in the area to get food.
Clean, attractive, and centrally located hotel near PCH and the beach. The rooms are large and clean, and the staff is great. May at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. She seemed to go out of her way to accommodate any of our needs during our stay. Everything was clean and well maintained, I think this hotel is a great value.
My husband and I wanted to stay in the Huntington area for a few nights and found this B.W on Priceline. The price was reasonable and we already knew what we would have expected from this hotel chain. We believe this was a motel before and though it might be a bit dated on certain things, everything else what the hotel offered exceeded our expectations. Upon checking in, Mihir, was so friendly, welcoming and efficient at checking us in. Maybe he sensed we were tired from our travels. He provided us a room on the 3rd floor and were quite pleased with it. The room was huge and spacious (400 s.f). There were 2 queen beds, round table, 2 full back chairs, entertainment unit, dresser drawer, desk and night stand. With all that, we still had so much room to walk freely. The beds were comfy and cozy with lots of pillows, which I enjoy. Breakfast was pretty good too. They offered a variety of hot and cold items. Lots of bagels, bread, danish, croissants, 3 -4 kinds of cereal, sausage, eggs, hash brown and a high tech pancake maker. Dispenser for 4 kinds of juice and a coffee maker as well (I think the coffee in the lobby is bolder than the one in the dining room). The location was good for us. It was central to most of our interests, shopping and dining. The hotel was quiet even though there's a daycare across the way but we didn't mind it at all. Check out was fast and efficient by Mihir as well. He even asked us what our plans were and assisted us by looking things up for our travels to Palm Springs. Very genuine and really looking after guests needs is definitely on his priority list. The only thing I need to mention was we did call down one day to ask a question and another person said they would get back to us in 5 minutes. They didn't get back to us but we figured out our answer in the end. All in all, we would definitely recommend this place!
My sisters and I stayed at this Best Western because it was only 3 blocks from my sons. Its close to Downtown Huntington Beach and close to many other things. The room and lobby areas are clean and the desk clerk was pleasant and helpful . The Breakfast was delicious and the area clean . I have stayed here before and have always been pleased. The pool and hot tub are really nice too.
Right on Beach Blvd but I didn't notice any road noise (Thursday/Friday night). Staff were friendly. Breakfast was typical but nice and well presented. Bed was comfortable and internet worked well but I didn't use it extensively.
I had a WONDERFUL stay last week at this BWestern in Huntington Beach, CA. The property was extremely clean and you could see the pride the owners and staff took in the hotel. Everything was clean and kept up with pride. Great breakfast, very friendly staff and very comfortable bed. Overall a fantastic property and experience.
I felt the Hotel staff are really caring & want to serve you. I would go back anytime I am going to that area. There are no loud guess & the staff make sure you are happy. I don't know all their names but they are all sweet & caring.
We stayed at the Best Western Regency Inn for a family wedding weekend. We were checked in by May who was very friendly, helpful and accommodating throughout our stay. The room was clean and comfortable. The pool/hot tub area is lovely and the grounds are well maintained. Breakfast was much more than the standard continental that is available at most places as it included scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage links and pancakes. It is not a luxury hotel by any means, but a great value for the traveler passing through or needing a base for other activities.
This was our 8th year staying here while participating at the Surf City Half Marathon. The hotel is very clean and the staff, especially Mary is friendly and helpful. They have a good selection of food for breakfast and they started breakfast early for all of us participating in the race. I highly recommend this hotel for any vacation/get away to Huntington Beach.
We had a very nice stay for one night with my friends. Parking was simple, pool was nice and the room was clean and spaceous. Breakfast was good! Pancakes, sausage, eggs, etc... Hotel is a short drive from the beach. Price/quality perfect.
Stayed here three nights while visiting family in HB. I stayed one night in the King suite and two nights in a 2 Queen bed room. Both rooms were super clean and beds were comfy plus lots of space in the room. Wifi was great and rooms had fridge, microwave and good size flat screen. Breakfast was above average. Spent time at the pool and hot tub after the beach and both were very clean as well as the pool area. Staff was great especially Christine who worked out a few details I had on my stay. This will be my goto place to stay in HB from now on.
My stay here was very unsurpassable! I stayed in a suite room with jetted tub and separate shower. Room was very nice, upgraded, comfortable, clean, crisp bed, great view to the street, stylish, and very roomy! It was not your average small square "suite room" with only a bed and bath. It felt very fancy! Breakfast downstairs was very good. Not your average fruit loops and orange juice breakfast at most other hotels lol. Good tasting eggs, sausage, pancake machine, lots of choices for drinks and grains, a spacious dining room with plenty of tables for everyone. And the coffee was good! Staff was very friendly and courteous. They answered all of my questions and needs promptly and professionally. And for a hotel near the beach, the rate was very reasonable for a suite! I will definitely be staying here again! ????????????
Great place to stay. Recommend to anyone staying in the Huntington Beach area. Nice rooms, nice pool, easy access to the beach and other areas in Orange County. Shopping and great restaurants are all close by.
The staff is wonderful and extremely helpful in every way. The location is terrific and conveniently located with restaurants in every direction. Grocery stores and convenient stores are within walking distance. Although, if you want a quiet fulfilled night sleep, this is the last place you want to stay. If you have young children and they are well mannered than they will be staying in a hotel whose other children have NO manners or a proper upbringing. So be prepared to lose sleep.
Very good customer service. Continental BF was quite good and also included scrambled eggs, BF sausages and hash browns among the usual fares. We had rooms on the 2nd floor (206, 207) which were good. Hotel is close to Huntington Beach where we watched a beautiful sunset one evening. It is also a short drive to Little Saigon which we visited 2 days during the Vietnamese New Year (TET) festival.
This hotel is so convenient to the beach. We rode our bikes. I was there for the SurfCity Half Marathon. May who is the customer service rep who checked us in is the bomb!!! We had such excellent care from her. I have stayed in dozens of hotels for my runs and nobody has taken such care in my accommodations as she did. This hotel was comfortable close to bars, fast food and the beach. But i'm telling you May made my entire stay...
My son and I had adjoining rooms which was nice. May was very sweet & helpful with my reservation. She personally walked down to my room to see if everything was satisfactory. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. I do wish they had microwaves. I would recommend this hotel and stay here again.
We will actually be returning to this hotel for our bachelor/ette party. The continental breakfast was really good. I liked that they had eggs, sausage, and hashbrowns. The rooms were newly remodeled and quite large and roomy. The toilet area was small but it's not exactly a deal breaker.
We went to Huntington Beach to visit family and this was so much less expensive then other options. It's not on the beach but it was clean and updated. All the staff were very friendly and attentive. Free continental breakfast was better than most. Hot foods included scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns and pancakes. I saw another reviewer say it was in a crap part of town, I disagree. I would say it was not touristy. It's where locals live their lives and do their shopping. Short drive to the beach.
I am a longtime customer here and everyone here is very nice and helpful, especially May who was always pleasant to deal with. Room was pleasant, people was very polite. Thank you May. From Dr. Minh Ma 714-588-4998
This hotels staff is very helpful, kind, and accommodating . I have stayed here a couple time and will continue to stay here because the price is so good. The have updated the breakfast items as well as some of the rooms.
Poor condition and somewhat dirty We keep asking ourselves are we at the " Motel 6 " ? The big whip amenity was a warm bottle of water ,not even in the refrig! I guess because the location has a name with a beach attached justified the high rates, even through IT was way far away form the beach !
It was a very nice hotel. The room was quiet and nice. The breakfast was decent, in fact the quality was much better than any other 2-star hotel I have been to. And special thanks to May, she was really nice and helpful.
Check in was smooth, the young woman at the front desk was great, she provided all the information i needed. The room was very nice, very clean.I enjoyed my stay. When the time came to check out it was done quickly.
Hotel was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was decent quality with a better than average selection compared to other best western hotels. The staff was quite friendly and caring. Much less expensive than the other "name brand" hotels in the area.
this is a very nice hotel in a perfect location, everything at steps or minutes driving. very nice rooms, excellent beds, nice complimentary breakfast, FANTASTIC STAFF , May is a very nice lady who will help you with anything.
This is an older hotel, well maintained. Everything works well. The guest laundry was one of the cleanest I used on our 10 week road trip. Bed was good, staff very friendly and helpful, nice pool. I had absolutely no issues with this hotel until I noticed the signs posted by the dept. of health regarding dangerous chemicals in and around the property. Not sure how serious this is as they haven't closed the hotel and there is a large daycare next door. At any rate we stay 6 nights and have been home since early Nov. - not glowing in the dark or growing any extra heads YET
Best Hotel yet! The cleanliness and the comfort of being away from home was excellent. The beds and were comfortable and the pillows were Awesome. Staff "Thumbs up!" I would like recommend that a microwave should be placed in the room.
The appearance and price is like a typical MOTEL; but the rooms are much better than I anticipated. The check-in staff, "MAY", is really nice; she is friendly and extremely helpful. The location is excellent; breakfast is good. I will come back again!
This hotel is located in a very great location. It is near my son's home, the beach, shopping, etc. Lots of great dining around the area. I had a training person check me in and although it was slow he did it very well
The hotel is like home away from home. Very warm and inviting. The staff is like relatives making the stay like being in your extended home. Breakfast was great as was the cleaning staff. The location could not be better for those that like quick access to the beach and malls.
Value excellent, Excellent location to get to the beach, shopping, resterauntants, and recreational areas. Breakfast was in a clean area that included a good variety of foods. We relaxed in a clean hot tup. The rooms were comfortable and spacious. Great value for your money
I stayed 3 nights here after a conference. The rooms were all up-graded with nice linens, furniture & decor. Staff were friendly & helpful. Breakfast was large with variety. Hotel room was very clean. Much better than I anticipated. Lobby & outside decor is outdated but rooms lovely.
i was a little leery at first because the outside looked a little run down. But upon entering our room I was pleasantly surprised. The room was clean, spacious and had everything we wanted. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was great. This is now our go to place in Huntington Beach.
I left some items behind and called the hotel to report this within 45 minutes of leaving. The items were not returned to me. 5 shirts. I believe that they should have made certain to go down to the room to retrieve my items when I called instead of trusting your maid staff.
The handicapped rooms for wheelchair bound people are generously roomy and easily usable. The desk staff and room cleaning crews were extremely friendly, helpful and courtious. The hotel is located within easy drives to shopping, eating and the beach area.
You will find that this Best Western provides an excellent experience from the pleasant staff to the rooms to the breakfast offered. Everything is clean and comfortable. The pool and hot tub are inviting.
very clean and the staff very helpful and friendly and professional. the room is decorated very nicely and is comfortable. The beds are so comfortable. We felt welcomed and very safe there. Friendly and polite people there, the staff and other traverlers were very nice and respectful.
Lovely hotel, very accommodating and helpful, friendly staff. Unfortunately we had noisy guests above us for two nights but staff dealt promptly with the problem when we reported it. Good breakfast, well presented. Would stay here again. Comfy beds, clean rooms .Laundry facilities were a real bonus as we were on a fourteen day road trip through California.
We arrived after midnight, stayed for only one night, and were gone by 9:00 a.m. It was a rest stop of sorts, the place we stayed after arriving in town and before we went sight-seeing and on to a wedding in another city. The exterior of the building was fine, but the exterior carpet was a little worn. Our room was on the second level, and I noticed that the walkway was a little sunken, so perhaps the balconies could use a little structural lift. The rooms are all recently renovated, and our room was very nice and clean. Nothing fancy, but perfect for what we needed. The hotel was quiet, and even being on a major local drag, I didn't notice any street noises. The staff was very polite and helpful. The hotel provides a hot continental breakfast. I think it was a decent breakfast for being complementary, and very convenient for a grab-and-go scenario, but if you love breakfast, you might prefer to dine out. The hotel also has a vending room with a few snacks, but the vending machines are change-only (no bills, no credit cards), so that was a little inconvenient. Ultimately, I think this hotel is a good choice for the traveler passing through. It's clean, quiet, good value, and has a friendly staff.
Recent stay at this hotel was for business.Location is excellent if you want to go to Huntington Beach , the pier or Main Street. Room are spacious and clean but could use some updating. Has nice pool area and a room were they serve breakfast.which is decent, scrambled eggs, sausage. cereal, bagels, juice and coffee.
I dread staying in motels because I'm adverse to carpeting and the carpeting is usually dull and dirty. Try wearing a pair of white socks in your room! I know that this is the most difficult area to keep clean so I always check the carpeting. The room's carpeting was nicely new and clean. It made for a peaceful night's sleep.
Not very accessible for some one in a wheel chair, and uncomfortable beds. The handicapped features are not ADA acceptable. The wi-fi is not always functioning. They have a variety of breakfast items. The lamps in the room are not working with burnt out bulbs. Do not rent roll away cots as the springs are poking through the mattress. Not enough outlets for chargers. Motel 6 has better accommodations at a lower rate.
