Surestay was an excellent choice, great breakfast each morning. Clean room with clean towels and plenty of amenities. Pool was a great way to relax, it was kept very clean and warm. Located within walking distance of the shops and restaurants we visited. Friendly staff at all times, including maintenance workers and room service employees. Just returned from here yesterday and Would stay here again.
This is a great hotel, newly remodeled, clean and in a great location for Helen. Every thing was within walking distance. The staff are helpful and friendly. I almost don't want to do this review. I want to keep this gem of a hotel to myself, it does not disappoint.
very great, super clean breakfast good very quiet and close to Helen only wrong too much smoking very short walk to a happy place food all over outside entertainment went to 7 different places to eat and all very good . naturally everyone has beer. they even talk care of your dog under all the tables are very clean water dishes.
Very clean ́nice beds. Would recommend highly.Very ́good staff so friendly. Close to everything My grànddaughter énjoyed the pool with her mom Hope to visit again Pauls restaurant was phénoménal the best seafood ive ever had Loved the glass blowing shop àd it being October fest was a plus
The staff was great. There was an incident with a screaming guest at 3 in the morning. The staff handled it professionally. The same guest caused a commotion in the parking lot the next day had 8 people in their room and lied to the hotel.about it. The hotel is very clean. All staff is professional and very helpful and caring.
Excellent location! Everything is within walking distance. The staff was very friendly and hospitable. Highly recommend. Mary at the front desk was very patient and helpful. Nice and clean rooms. Everything worked properly. No concerns or complaints.
First, this motel is in a great location for Helen. The whole town is easily walkable from here and it's a cute little town to walk through and see the shops and eateries. My only complaint is that we were not able to connect to the wifi during our stay, but overall not a huge deal. The breakfast is simple (cereal, prepackaged muffins, toast, bagels, oatmeal packets etc.), no hot food. Not a big deal for us but if you're wanting a bigger meal you won't find it here. We would stay here again because it is really convenient to everything in town and it was a decent price for being close to everything. The staff is also very friendly.
The room was very clean, reasonably priced, and within walking distance of downtown but far enough away not to hear all the noise. I would stay here again if i happen to visit again. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family. Enjoyed my stay.
The location is excellent for walking in Helen and is next door to the Huddle House. We arrived early and were permitted to check in. The room was nice except that the toliet was small and very close to a wall. Night time noise was minimal and we slept well.
Clean, comfortable, and everyone was so nice. We will be back to stay again and most likely stay at the same place.
This hotel is in a good location, almost central with many stores within waling distance. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and never had any issues. Internet was a bit slower than I had hoped, but it is a busy location.
Very nice accommodations, clean, good a/c, very helpful and nice front counter workers. Not much for breakfast, but Great local places to eat.
My husband & I went with a hiking club where there was a block of rooms resv'd. We chked out early and got a refund. Upon checking that the refund was there when I got home a few days laterI found I was chrgd $100 for a desk lamp they said I stole. What? Not true!!! Mgr very rude and accusing. Did not steal anything. Reported that a hair dryer was not in the room as was supposed to be when we got there & they replaced that and then I am chged for a desk lamp I did not take. Even left a tip for the housekeeper. Something shady is going on at this hotel, other than that the room was ok. Be aware, take inventory of your room if you stay there when you arrive.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean, and the beds are comfortable, which is a must for me. The location is excellent. You can walk everywhere in Helen from BW SureStay. The pool is clean and heated; the pool area has plenty of chairs and loungers. We will be coming back to this hotel. AWESOME experience.
Was very clean and staff was super friendly!! Had a great breakfast variety and also located in a great area!
The hotel was very clean and comfortable. If you like a soft bed, this is the place. Staff was great. I will be back next year.
Great service and location. Staff was really nice and professional. Room very clean and comfortable.
The staff was very carrying, professional and polite. The rooms were clean and housekeeping were very attentive to guest needs. The hotel was in a prime location for different activities. Would definitely stay here again.
In town hiking and chose hotel fir the location. Nice room decor, clean, modern, but mattress was not comfortable. Breakfast was OK not alot of items and for the price of the stay I expected a better breakfast. Nice location within walking distance of shops and restaurants. A fun area to visit.
Older hotel, but clean. Breakfast is not hot at all (I think stated in briefing) so cereal, bagels, microwaveable sandwiches... Easily walkable to downtown. Ony complaint I really had was did not get maid service one day and was supposed to. Figured they would take a bit off the cost for the night, but no. Would have given a 3rd star if that happen.
Stayed the night in Helen, this hotel was very comfortable, the beds were the most comfortable I've slept in at a hote. The bathrooms were nicely updated well. Very enjoyable stay, will definitely stay again next time In Helen
My wife and I took a spontaneous overnight trip to Helen Georgia and stayed at the best Western. The room was clean, large, with two very comfortable beds. The staff was professional, friendly, and helpful. The heated indoor pool was open and excellent for a nighttime swim to finish up our day. The cold, continental breakfast in the morning, had a good variety of breakfast foods and drinks, and was definitely enough to get our day started
The only good thing about this hotel was the hot shower and the friendly staff. The room that we stayed in was not clean thoroughly. I told front desk about it. They sent housekeeping while we were gone, but it was never actually clean because the same hair was all over the floor. They offered a $25 discount but I didn't have my credit card on me and it wasn't worth my time. The staff is really nice and the location is great but the hotel is not a best western quality hotel. The breakfast had it stale, bagels, stale, cereal, and gross coffee. I would never stay here again and don't recommend it to anybody other people that want to party and have a good time and don't worry about cleanliness
Check in was great, staff is awesome. Great location, we would definitely stay here again. My only complaint is the mirror was dirty. We would stay here again. Rooms are comfortable and the layout of the hotel is great. You can walk to shopping and restaurants
The room was very large, clean, refrigerator and fine for a 2 night stay. Was there at the beginning of the week, hotel was quiet and peaceful. You can walk next door to huddle house for food or downtown as it's all within in minutes.
We booked this place for the indoor pool, but the staff, room and location exceeded all of our expectations. The room was clean and the staff were so nice and helpful. We didn't have to drive anywhere, walking distance to everything. And the price was perfect for a spontaneous weekend away. This will be our go to spot in the future.
Arrived on a Friday and stayed until Sunday. It was a great two day stay. Just be aware this hotel has no elevators and is 2 story building. So make sure you ask for first floor. Also bring your own coffee mug their cups are very small.
Hotel is in great location. Walking distance but yet far enough away from the chaos when you are ready to end the night. Hotel has a continental breakfast with more options than most other hotels and it was all very good. Rooms were clean, no carpet, nice shower head, K cup coffee in rooms, comfy bed. The pool is heated and surrounded by sliding or folding glass doors, cant remember already but nice set up. Staff was all nice.
Just wrapped up a 14 night Fall Foliage Trip to western NC, Great Smoky Mountains NP in TN, and north Georgia. All 14 nights were spent at Best Westerns, and all were great, but this Sure Stay in Helen was AMAZING. Of course, the quaint German town of Helen is part of it, but this hotel is also the one I enjoyed most. I don't normally post pics on Trip Advisor, but our room was HUGE, had a gas fireplace, a whirlpool and a balcony. Spotless, immaculate and smelled great. Great King bed, great nights sleep. Very quiet, very safe, yet we walked to downtown Helen restaurants and attractions in 5 minutes. The staff---Tammy the Front Desk Manager, Destiny the GM and Keir at the front desk were so friendly and welcoming. But what I enjoyed most was the BREAKFAST AREA and lobby. Very rustic and alpine mountain-y. Plenty big enough, yet still cozy, like the room. They also had Jimmie Dean Sausage, Egg & Cheese English Muffins, which I have never seen at any BW or SS before. This place is such a great place and such a great value we may come back at Christmas for a few days. Christmas is a big deal in Helen and the Sure Stay is your "go to" place to stay. Couldn't be more impressed or pleased. And check out the Reuben sandwich and German Potato Salad at The Old Bavaria House and The Heidelberg. All three places are A++++!
The SureStay in Helen, GA, is in an ideal location, with convenient walking distance to area activities and free parking. The rooms and grounds are meticulously clean; everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful; and the pool was warm and clean and inviting. Breakfast was the typical grab and go food.
So glad I chose to stay at this hotel on my first visit to Helen. It was the perfect location! Within walking distance to everything. I stayed on the second floor and loved the footbridge to the street. The room was spacious and clean. Had a microwave, fridge and coffeemaker in room. Water heated up fast for shower. Sink and shower actually drain well. Lots of electric outlets, USB outlets. It was a very quiet hotel. Didn't hear neighbors through the wall. The air conditioner was noisy, but I didn't really have to use it much during my stay. Was always greeted by staff, whether at the front desk or housekeeping crew. Continental breakfast was more than just granola bars (they had muffins, a variety of cereals, and more), which was nice. But also liked that this hotel was right next to the Huddle House, for those seeking a hot breakfast. The bed was maybe a little saggy (like on the side...felt like I might just slide off), but not too uncomfortable. I would recommend this place and would definitely consider staying here again!
The hotel was very nice and clean. We had the King Suite with a jetted tub, fire place, and a heat lamp in the bathroom. Everything worked great and was very nice and relaxing. The staff were all very freindly and helpful.
Very nicely located in Helen, Georgia. Easy walk to all the sites in town. Pool was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was just enough choices. Could have used a full length mirror in the room. That's my only complaint.
The staff was friendly. The room in general was clean. Breakfast was good. The problem was the cleanliness of the bathroom--not quite up to standard. The room was newly redecorated/renovated, but that was not a solution for the musty odor--the room needs a good airing-out.
The room was so full of mold we could not sleep. Mold was above the tile base and on the bathroom walls. The jacuzzi tub had body & soap scum around the edges. The mattress was falling apart. The good thing - the two ladies in the front office.
For the price the bed could have been better than it was. You felt every spring in the mattress. If my husband moved the whole bed moved. The overall price was much higher than it was worth for the location.
Great place for a weekend getaway. Very crowded in town but easy walk to everywhere we wanted to go. Staff was very friendly, Didn't try the breakfast because we slept too late every day. Great recommendations from staff concerning where to eat.
Nice place, clean and close enough but far enough away from the downtown area. Lots of upgrading being done outside, will be nice when done. Loved the breakfast, just enough to hold you over. Toilet had a tendency to run a little bit told the clerk and pretty sure she went and got maintenance on the job right away.
The customer service here is horrible. My husband and I booked a much needed 1 night getaway here, and on the way got a nightmare of a phone call that my dad had been admitted to the hospital and it wasn't good. It's still not good. I tried to call and explain to the hotel and even got the booking company to call and explain and they only responded with saying that we had to give a 48hr. notice. Seriously? All they care about is money. We are talking about a human life. This was so incredibly heartless. I will never book with this company again.
I enjoyed Myself so glad I chose this location and will use it again and I will definitely bring others along with me. The Shops and Activities are amazing. They will bring out the kid in Older adults such as myself .Also the Anna Ruby waterfall hike was Outstanding I over it.
Came for 2 nites. Booked as we saw decent reviews. Too bad these "decent reviews" were not so recent. Room was musty. The rooms are non smoking (which is good) but there are TONS of Cigarette butts outside the room which makes the room smell. Mildew in the shower. This was a place to rest my head but didnt get a good nites sleep. The rooms were VERY EXPENSIVE. We paid WAY TOO MUCH for the rooms. Had the rate been MUCH lower, then I would have added another start to my review. The only good things were that it was walking distance from downtown and the breakfast was fine. They are short staffed but they did an outstanding job in accommodating their guests as they were very friendly as well. Wouldnt stay here again as its not my cup of tea
Chose this “hotel” off of high reviews. Completely false. This this a motel charging 4-5 times what it should be charging. Room was falling apart, literally from the ceilings and walls to obvious water damaged floors in the bathroom that were loose
Floors were dirty and made our feet black. Food was left in microwave by previous people letting me know it was not cleaned either. Toilet was loud and squeaky. Faucet in tub was coming out of the wall.
Not the nicest hotel. Staff weren't too welcoming or friendly :( The hotel states it's been recently renovated but there's water damage in rooms, dampness/must, and cheap bedding (old brown, itchy blanket). It was not a cheap stay either, so surprised it was so underwhelming. We originally booked two nights to stay in Helen, GA but left after 1 night. They did allow us to cancel the second night with no issues (thinking that may be common for them). I wouldn't recommend this hotel for a stay in Helen.
Service was excellent by a caring staff. Room was clean and well kept. Close to downtown Helen, Ga. Within walking distance. I like the breakfast it was excellent.. Would recommend this hotel to other visiting this area
The property is clean, neat, and presentable, and within walking distance to downtown. The king bed was comfortable but the comforter was too thin. There was no water dispenser in the breakfast area. Breakfast was heat and go. Fresh fruit was available. Weekend of May 20 will be crowded with German-car enthusiasts.
We booked the hot tub suite for a couples get away. The room was spotless clean and full of amenities. We were within easy walking distance to restaurants and shops, this is important being that both my husband and I are disabled. The mountain coaster is directly across the street. All in all, it was a perfect stay and we will be back.
We stayed in the suite with the jetted tub and fireplace, and it was perfect. Very clean, staff were friendly and helpful, and the location of the hotel was perfect: right on Main Street, and within walking distance of everything. The hotel has an indoor heated pool, and even though we saw people using it, we did not. The beds were so comfortable too! In fact, my husband wants me to call Best Western and ask them what brand of mattress they use!
Overall nice place and very convenient to downtown Helen. The location is the best part. However the walls are very thin and if your next door guests are loud or play the TV loudly you will be able to hear it. The people next to us left their set on all night (both nights) and the front desk did nothing to solve the problem. Try to sleep well through that.
Very convinced location, nice lobby and maintenance staff. Room was small but clean that is important. Upstairs room was very noisy. Breakfast could be better. Fast and easy check in and check out. Free and enough parking.
The rooms looked remodeled with hard floors. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Pool was warm with heated room, my son loved swimming when it was 30 degrees outside.heat worked good in room. Internet was average. Staff was good, would have liked a little more friendly welcoming vibe though…breakfast was well stocked.. wish they had hot breakfast like eggs bacon sausage toast…
We stay for 2 days and our stay was really good. Good decent breakfast and the location is perfect just on the middle of town to walking distance to restaurants, shops and in front of the Mountain Roller Coaster. We definitely come back and recommend this hotel.
Room was small but mostly clean, breakfast was limited. The salt used for the weather carried into the room and then you walked on it all night and found it on your feet and in bed with you. Not too bad, just the hotel price point should have been lower.
This hotel is next-door to all the sites in Helen. It is a very clean hotel with a friendly staff. The continental breakfast is excellent. The room was fresh and clean. Some of the sheets and mattresses could use an upgrade.
The hotel was average. The staff was very friendly, the beds were very comfortable & clean! Overall it was a nice stay, I would stay again. No bugs. It did smell a little stuffy upon entering the room. Coffee was spectacular!
For the amenities in the room, the pool, the breakfast, and very helpful & friendly staff, this is the best bang for your buck in town. The location is great because it's not in the middle of town but close enough to get in and out of the crowd easily. The beds were fabulous!!
This was an excellent hotel and very affordable, very clean and comfortable! We didn't really know what to expect with the reasonable price usually we expect some compromise to comfort etc...,but we didn't they really had everything we needed and desired for a pleasant stay! We would recommend it to anyone!
A purchase I made for some candles at the mason jar shop totaling $120 was stolen out of my room. It must've been while we were at Oktoberfest for all of two hours the evening of October 20th, but unfortunately we didn't realize it until we had already left the hotel the next morning. The staff refused to acknowledge that anyone COULD HAVE stolen something out of the room. The only people that would have a key would be the staff. When I called to complain report the “missing” candles, the person who answered the phone, Tammy, hung up on me. She told me to go ahead and call best Western. This is the worst I have ever been treated by the staff at a place that I'm renting a room from them for $176. It was beyond belief the way they carried on and conducted our conversations. I spoke to the owner of the hotel, Carol, and she backed her staff. It was obvious there was no questions asked about the situation or how it occurred. I would never ever stay at a Best Western again. This was the worst experience at any hotel, And not because of the theft, but because of the rudeness of the desk workers and the owner.
My stay was excellent. It is within walking distance of everything. It was very clean. The showers have amazing water pressure. The breakfast has almost anything you can think of. There is a heated pool. The staff is very friendly and accommodating I would definitely stay here again.
That was a perfect stay for us, unfortunately we could hear every word of our room in the adjacent room. Also what else they did. Of course, this is a shame that the walls are so thin. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is typically American.
Nice motel in Helen, GA. Great location, just a block from the village area. Clean updated room, comfortable bed and nice indoor pool. Very nice staff. Lexi was very helpful and super nice. Breakfast was ok, nothing worth noting. Would stay here again and recommend.
This hotel surprised me! The staff was super friendly. The hotel was very clean. The floors were laminate, which i like in hotels because it feels cleaner. It was very close to where the events were for Oktoberfest.
Check in was easy and the staff made us feel real welcome. Location was near town and Festhall. Easy walk. Very nice room for the price. We will be back for sure. A few more towels would be nice. Great stay. Second time staying this year.
Good place to stay. The room was spacious and clean and the staff was kind and helpful. The indoor pool was nice as well. Within short walking distance to shops, restaurants, and the river. Would definitely stay here again!
Great rooms, beds and indoor pool was a life saver. We loved the morning breakfast and needed that fuel to get started with these active grand kids, 7 and 9. Staff was always friendly and nice to talk to. Did not really have any problems, but knew we were safe at all times.
Very professional and completely attentive to everything that my friends and I needed or requested. Beds smelled so good when we climbed in, soft towels and the front desk was jes plum gr8, ain't got a bad thang to say. The new management is very interested in hearing what cld be bettr and appreciative of ur business.
We loved our stay here, great place to stay in helen. Very nice spacious, and extremely clean rooms, beds looked well took care of as well. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay here again!!
Best hotel i have stayed at in awhile . Very clean and very nice front desk clerks. And the crew manager has it going on very nice and sweet. Had a great checkin with the front desk clerk . I believe her name was Tammy. Will recommend and stay at this hotel everyone I come to Helen ga.
We had hundreds of Shriners in town. This location was perfect for our activities. Restaurants, downtown , shopping, all within walking distance. Will definitely book here for next years event and hopefully even before.
Great location and very friendly staff Indoor pool While the breakfast was not hot there was jimmy dean breakfast sandwiches and pre made waffles Our favorite places were Paul's on the river to watch the rafters and the German place on the other end of town attached to the hotel Parking on the other side of the road We will be back
The room was not clean and the floor were filthy. There were spider webs all over the private porch. I was actually bit by something in the middle of the night. The curtains were broken and did not close all the way.
We needed a base hotel for large group attending daughters wedding in local area. We cannot speak highly enough of the service ,cleanliness ,comfort , basically everything that was provided by the SureStay staff. In addition To a great block rate for the rooms , they provided a hospitality suite for us for the girls to get ready and prior to the ceremony where they provided pastries juice fruit etc. at no additional fee. Everything was great it was so valuable considering the large number of people traveling from out of town thank you so much For such a valuable contribution to it was a wonderful weekend in Helen Georgia and surrounding areas
Stayed here on a Friday night while making our way to FL for Spring Break. Choose hotel because of location and that it had a heated pool. Location as great-within walking distance of the town and the mountain coaster which was across street. The pool was below average. It was not well heated. The staff was not very helpful and quite frankly grumpy. My wife and I were both ignored by desk staff when we greeted upon arrival and wished a good morning upon checking out. I asked about the coaster as well when first arrived and the desk staff said she didn't know anything about it. Coincidentally, when I told a vendor in town we were staying here they also said the staff was not very friendly. At least they are consistent!
I was supposed to be fishing but that was canceled from prescribed burning in the area. So I thought what about Helen, they have good fishing. I found the Sure Stay to be clean outside and reasonably priced. I stopped in and they were amazing from check in to check out. I even decided to stay an extra day.
The rooms are newly updated. Great showers, clean rooms, really comfortable beds. The front desk customer service was amazing. Every person in this hotel was above and beyond, but Tammy was absolutely amazing. She made sure that every time I walked into the lobby, I had everything I needed. The front desk recommended places to eat, which ones had their own parking. Continental breakfast was WAY beyond what I would have imagined. Fresh food, CLEAN property.
This hotel is amazing! Right in town, walking distance to the town, amazing pool!! The breakfast was amazing! Such a variety of food and its not stale like most hotels! Staff is beyond friendly! My only complaint is we had things broken in our room that should of been fixed before we stayed. This is a great hotel for you and your family!! HELEN is an amazing town!!! WE ABSTOLUTELY LOVED THE MOUNTAIN ROLLER COASTER RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET!!!
I stayed here two nights in April. Pros: location Cons: Not as clean as you wish it would be. See pictures I am including with my review. The staff is not knowledgeable. I did not get info about the area when I made some questions or I did receive even incorrect responses. The walls are thin. I was lucky that there were no unruly or loud guests when I was staying. But they woke me up just with conversation or maybe TV on. Breakfast is terrible. I could not eat anything that was offered: low quality and inedible items. See pictures I attached with my review. I feel even offended that someone can offer and think I would anything that they offer. I just went to a registrant to have breakfast.
If you are looking for a budget friendly hotel within walking distance to everything look no further than Sure Stay Hotel staff was very friendly and recognized that I was a diamond member. They do offer a modified breakfast of yogurt cereal and heated biscuits. Overall its a great hotel with classic charm would stay again on future visits to Helen Ga.
The rate from Thursday to Friday went from $70 per night to $205 per night for the same room. There were no special events going on in Helen so no reason for these high rates except to gouge the public.
This hotel was the perfect location in proximity to everything. We basically could walk to all the shops. I do think the walls were thin as I could hear the neighbors snoring and since we were on the 1st floor, the people upstairs mustve had toddlers. The footsteps were annoying so next time, I will request 2nd flr. Breakfast couldve used cooked food. The only protein besides yogurt was some processed biscuit. The rooms were nice, modern & updated even though tv was small & fridge had water on the floor from leakage-someone mustve turned it off. Mattress was probably tempur pedic but was worn & probably needed flipping or replacing. pillows were very flat but I always take my own. Saturday night was overpriced as hotel probably only worth $99/night max
This hotel has an outstanding location. Just one block from all main restaurants and stores. The room was big and clean. The bed was very comfortable. All staff members are very friendly and helpful. it is located across from the Mountain Coaster.
My family and I came to Helen for a winter vacation. Upon check-in, Tammy greeted us and made us feel right at home. Our kids were tired from the drive, but she went above and beyond and offered crayons and coloring books. She even remembered their names and greeted us every time we saw her. Our room was clean and the staff was extremely friendly. Lennie was our housekeeper and she brought us extra towels and room refreshments without us asking - she truly cared about the quality of our stay and knew what we needed. Because it was so cold outside, we swam in the heated indoor pool and the front desk recommended excellent restaurants. I can't say enough about how great our stay was. We will definitely be back and thank you for a great stay!
My wife and I arrived at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve I had made the reservation in my name but my wife had driven the car because she was driving when we left I inadvertently forgot to bring my driver's license so when I attempted to check in I didn't physically have an ID the manager was very kind and accepted a picture of my ID that I had on my cell phone to allow me to check in We were given a room on the very end of the building on the first floor which helped to ensure that our stay was as quiet as possible the hotel is located within walking distance of downtown they offered a continental breakfast the following morning which was very good
SureStay Hotel was really nice except that there were ants in and around the vanity. The location of this hotel was absolutely great and was walking distance to every shop and place of interest for us.
Traveled from Mobile to Helen, GA for a one night visit. Was a walk in. Receptionist was very friendly allowing us to view rooms before booking and taking the time to discuss the areas must do and visits. The next morning the receptionist had the same attitude making our stay pleasant and welcoming as if we were family. Will rebook in the near future.
I would like to compliment Ms. Dana Bates, the Asst. Gen. Manager at the Sure Stay Hotel in Helen, Ga. I'm in the process of coordinating a military reunion in 2023. It was outstanding working with her. She is very professional, thorough, Military Friendly, and was very helpful in suggesting items that could be used for military reunion. She was adamant about if I had any concerns and questions, and she would answer and/or take care of them. I'm looking forward to working with her, for our reunion. Thank you Ms. Bates.
Great motel right in town. Easy to walk to all in town destinations. Front desk staff went above and beyond when we encountered a small problem with a leak. Would recommend all our friends and family to stay at this best western when traveling to Helen Ga. Clean and up to date rooms.
If you're looking for a clean, affordable, and friendly place to stay while in Helen, this is the place! I stayed here for the weekend and just wow- the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating to any and all of my needs. The views were amazing and the room was incredibly clean! I'll definitely be back for the holidays. If you're visiting Helen, make sure to book a room here- you won't be disappointed
We had an absolutely fantastic stay and couldn't ask for anything else!! We were lucky to be able to book due to Octoberfest festivities. Check in was super easy, the front desk young lady was so nice and helpful! This property has the very best location, super close to downtown, a 1 min walk to see all of Helen! Our room was very clean, the bed was so comfortable! All the female staff members were extremely friendly and very helpful! I would recommend this property over all others!! So thankful and can't wait to get back!!
Nice up to date clean rooms, well informed/friendly staff, very good continental breakfast. Would have given 5 stars if not for noise of heat constantly cycling on/off. Available cable TV programing/stations could be improved on.
Visited SureStay in November. Beautiful fall colors. The mattress was very comfortable. The staff were very personable, friendly, and knowledgeable about the area around Helen. The motel was in walking distance of the heart of Helen.
Nice to get away. Enjoyed our stay at SureStay. Friendly staff, clean room, great soft bed and pillows. Within walking distance of downtown Helen. Breakfast was standard fare, but good. The motel was an older one, but in good condition. Recommend if staying in the area. The only problem I encountered was being a male, the toilet seat would not stay up. Had to stand to the side and hold up with left knee.
Tammy was working the front desk during our stay and she was outstanding. She was very helpful with directions and made sure that we had everything that we needed. We were there for OctoberFest and the Hotel is in a perfect location. Restaurants and shopping are all within walking distance.
Nicely remodeled motel, great location as we were able to walk everywhere that we wanted to go. Very clean and quiet. New towels. Staff was very friendly. My only issue was that the bottom of the bathtub needed a good scrubbing. Other than that everything was very nice and we enjoyed our stay/
We stayed at the SureStay for Octoberfest and loved it! Destiny and Lesley at the front desk were helpful, funny, and really made us feel at home! Donita in housekeeping was fantastic! The rooms are spacious and perfect for a home away from home. I will definitely be staying here any time I make the trip to Helen. I had a friend staying in the fireplace room with the large jetted tub. I was very jealous! All of the rooms are great, but that room would be the perfect romantic getaway. I can't wait for next year!
Had the nicest room with jetted tub and fireplace. Very romantic. Could not hear other guests. Hotel staff were very hospitable and the location of hotel is perfect for Oktoberfest. We had a large group stay and everyone enjoyed the place.
Stayed here mid October for the festivities. Great staff, heated pool, clean rooms, decent breakfast. Can't ask for more. Next time I'm back in Helen I'll be staying here. I really liked that my building had direct access to the street from the 2nd floor.
This hotel did an amazing job of providing our group of 100+ individuals with a fantastic experience. They ensured that we felt safe, had the accommodations we requested, and they endured our shenanigans. 10/10 would recommend!!!
Very friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were clean with comfortable beds. Close to all events, small shops and restaurants downtown. Short walk. Plenty of spacious parking. Hot coffee in the lobby and Kuerigs in the room with coffee and tea choices. Pool was a perfect temperature! Can't wait to come back next year.
Perfect location for walking around. The coaster is right across the street. The hotel and room was super quiet. The bed was very comfortable. Sheets were soft. The shower had great water pressure. Highly recommend.
We recently had need to spend one night in Helen while on our way to North Carolina. We wanted to enjoy some of the local vibe and then get a good nights sleep for the journey the next morning. This hotel is within walking distance to the main part of Helen. We chose a Jr. Suite and I have to say it was a nice room with plenty of space. It had a gas fireplace and huge jetted tube in the living area. Staff was accomodating. I would stay there again.
Room was infested with ants and I had to throw out lots of food. Maintenance came in and sprayed the room and that night and now next day we found more ants crawling around in the room. The hotel is centrally located and was easy to get to It was within walking distance to all of the downtown shops and restaurants.
Great area in the middle of town. Overall clean but needs more updating. Mold smell in room, items in the room were damp wet everyday. The bed was comfortable. Enclosed pool with wall to wall sliding doors but half the doors didn't open because being broken, rust and holes. Again needs updating. Staff was friendly and the grab and go breakfast was nice, lots of choices.
The staff was very helpful and kind. Very clean rooms and the pool was clean as well. We will be visiting the hotel again in the future. It was in the heart of town, close to everything we wanted to see and do!
Hotel was not a modern as expected and the continental breakfast leaves something to be desired but the staff was kind and upbeat. Slightly overworked and understaffed, but those that were there did everything they can to make the stay a good vacation.
This was our first trip to Helen. We were so happy with the hotel. It was in a GREAT location. The room was very clean. The young man at the front desk was so helpful and nice. He helped us with restaurants and places to go. We will definitely be back and we will definitely be staying here again.
Have used Best Western many times in the past. Posted pics looked good with mediocre reviews. Upon entering the room we encountered an odor, not sure whether it was staleness or a cleaner used. Fortunately we travel with an air purifier that helped to dissipate most of the smell. Bed and pillows were clean and comfortable. The sink had drainage issues. The calking at the tub seams were stained and appeared to have mold . No care or inspection has been performed for this room in quiet a while. Not a lot of hotels in this area to choose from but I would pick any others before returning to this one. This review is based off the one room that we were in. The cleaning staff designated smoking area appeared to be in front of the group of rooms where we were in. I understand if you are a smoker, but since these are non smoking rooms and you had to walk through this to get to the lobby. Figured there would be another area.
First, listen to what customer requests, I even called to make sure a ground floor room was available, when arrived was put on second floor with stairs and requested ground due to handicapped person traveling with me, asked staff about issue and was told not on reservation, I requested on Best Western reservation site, and then called the hotel, in person, also with request. Was put next to smoking room, was not sure the room I stayed in had smokers before, had a smell, and commode was loose when sit down on, not the typical Best Western experience. Overpriced for what you get. It is an older motel but still needs to be up to Best Western standards.
Recommend this hotel for families looking for a friendly and economical spot to stay in Helen. It is close enough to walk to just about everything you need to get to with a family but far enough away from the noise. The Huddle House next store is nice, cheap and close family meal spot. The pool is also a nice addition for your stay and putt putt is close behind the hotel. For the price after looking around town I thought it was the best deal for our family. Can spend more in town if you are looking for something higher end but for the price to stay here I don't think you can do any better.
Perfect location to park car and walk downtown to everything - traffic terrible on weekends here- room was small but enough to sleep - very friendly staff and clean- pool looked a little cloudy after use but we didn't use...nice place for 2 nites
We had a great stay here. The room was so clean. The beds were very comfortable, and the staff was extremely nice. The location is also perfect for walking everywhere you need to go. We never had to drive our car!
not good, this was the first and last time that we will stay at this motel. We had a bad night. Things were broken and ants were in our room, TV speaker was busted, beds were Very uncomfortable. and paid way too much for the quality of this motel.
My room was adequate...but the price!! Yes, I understand my stay was on a weekend night, but the price of rooms in Helen is ridiculous. I would have stayed elsewhere if I hadn't committed to meet friends who were staying close by. The room? It was a nice basic room. It was clean. Amenities were minimal, but there was a mini-fridge, a desk and an easy chair. The bed was reasonably comfortable. The bathroom had a light burned out, and the heater didn't work. The shower drain was slow. No shampoo. The location close to downtown is really nice. The town itself is quaint, but is not charming enough. I would stay here again, but would avoid weekends like the plague.
The room was clean but the bed was too soft/wore out. We stayed two nights and felt like I over paid. It is inline with the pricing for the area it seems looking at rates nearby. With Covid the breakfast is pickup in office and take to your room, muffins, pastries, coffee & tea. There is a nearby Dottie's Kitchen...yum. Save your hunger for breakfast there.
The rooms were clean the staff was nice. I didnt think the size or quality of the room was great for the money I paid. The bathroom was so small. The shower had some ceiling cutout right above the shower weird. Room was small too.
For a non-smoking motel, stale smoke hit you in the face when you walked into the.room. I understand Helen is a big tourist destination and weekends are a premium - but geez - it's just a room with a bed, toilet and hot water. I will say on the positive side - it's in a great location.
Helen is very small so assume most hotels are with walking distance of area restaurants and shops, but it was nice to park and not have to drive everywhere. The room was very clean and looked pretty updated with the exception of the bathroom. Even though the bathroom was older and in need of a remodel, it was super clean. I liked that the floors were a wood tile and had no carpet. We didn't spend much time in the room, as we were out and about all day at the falls and checking out the town. It was however nice to come back and sleep like a baby. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable and honestly that is always one of the most important features to us.
We had a King room with whirlpool and fireplace. The room was very spacious and clean, with modern furniture. Their heated pool is awesome as well. We definitely feel like we got a very good value for the price we paid. Ms Patricia at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. Big thumbs up for her! The hotel is right in the middle of town and walking distance from everything, which is good because it saves you the parking fee that's all over town. The only thing that wasn't positive about our stay was that we had really noisy room neighbors, but that's not really the hotel's fault. There was also a bar across the street that blasted music until 1AM on Saturday. I'm not sure if the town is always this loud, or if it was because it was new year's weekend. Anyway, I recommend this hotel and we will definitely be back!
Great location in Helen. Great staff. Older hotel, but everything worked! Had plenty of hot water. Within walking distance of almost everything in Helen. Tip: leave the hotel from the back....much more level walking and less traffic.
This is the second time we have stayed at this Best Western. We just parked car and just walked everywhere we wanted to go since it was so close to town. Will definitely be straying her again next year.
Conveniently located within walking distance from the town and most food. Can tell the rooms are either recently renovated or in the process of undergoing renovations. The walls and ceilings are thin, so if you're a light sleeper, may want to look elsewhere, because you could be kept awake by other patrons. The first room we had had several mall roaches. We complained, and were moved to another room, which was bug free. Patricia and her customer service saved this review. She was extremely apologetic and did everything she could to make the remainder of our stay a pleasant one.
The mattress was horrible. It was lumpy & felt like it was 10 years old. The walls are very thin, no sound proofing at all. We heard our neighbors talking/laughing until 5 am. Afterwards we were able to hear them snore. It was the worse night of sleep. We didn't fall asleep until 5:30 am. There was no effort by the staff to accommodate us, even though they talked with a manager. We cancelled our 2nd night and stayed at another hotel in town. They provided excellent service, including free juice, coffee/tea and free cookies in the afternoon. Plus a complimentary hot breakfast. All for $30 more than Sure Stay Best Western.
This is our third stay at a SureStay in the last 50 days. While we realize this is a "low end" Best Western hotel we expected more from a hotel with this brand than a redo of some other hotel from the past. Our room was 107The bed was either cheap or worn out and probably both. The mattress really needs to be replaced. The drape over the window was a single panel that barely covered the window. The curtain rod was about 2 feet longer than the drape. The AC/heater would come on and go of very frequently and would wake us up or keep us from going to sleep. The shower had a new rod that bows out to allow more room in the tub but was either hung too high or the curtain was too short allowing water to escape the tub and go out onto the floor and get the bathmat wet. We we made our reservation in advance with a deposit to hold our room, we never realized this hotel probably only had a dozen rooms filed. The check-in took about 15 minutes as the clerk apparently had computer problems with the guest in front of us. The breakfast that we could take to uur room was better than others with GOOD coffee and Otis Spunkmeyer muffins.
SureStay saved our nite! After abandoning another hotel within minutes, we found SureStay after a long day of travel. Carol (one of the owners) greeted us at the front desk & provided us with a lovely, clean room that was recently renovated. The bed & pillows were perfect. We had a wonderful night of sleep! We highly recommend!
Stayed for 3 nights. Room was clean and the breakfast was really good. There was a variety of food to choose from including juice and breakfast sandwiches. You took the food to your room to eat. Location was great. We walked into town every day, took about 5 minutes. Went on two hikes and saw the best waterfalls, better than the ones out west.
The front desk employees were friendly and helpful. The room was non smoking but had a faint cigarette smell I would told at check-in that I could smoke outside of the room if a smoker. The rooms open to the outside so I could understand the smell. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The room had been recently renovated. No carpet is always a plus.
We made an unexpected trip to Helen during Octoberfest. We wanted a hotel close to town so we stopped here. Although the price was more than expected, the room was very clean and the bed was amazingly comfortable!
We were advised it was in the heart of Helen, walking distance to everything. This was not the case. We had asked about this specifically because my husband and I both have serious back issues. I have to use a cane. The hotel is actually located on the backside of the bridge. We would have had to walk UP a hill then across the bridge to actually get into any of the real Helen shopping area. The hotel itself was great. Nice room, very clean. It could use a new king size bed (we both felt like we were falling off the edge of the bed). The clerk on duty - James was super helpful and attentive. I would recommend the hotel.
This hotel saved the night! We initially drove in to town and rented a room on the river, which turned out to be such a nightmare that we left after spending about an hour in total in the room. We popped over to SureStay where the front desk clerk graciously brought me to inspect the room before I rented. Everything checked out. Room 204 is clean, beds are comfortable, pillows are in abundance and super fluffy, there are no odors nor musty smells, and most importantly the AC blows nice and cold.
So while looking all over Helen for a reasonable hotel with a swimming pool. This is what we choose, what a great choice. The girls enjoyed the pool, the rooms were plenty big enough. I think the most redeeming quality being they location. It was in the perfect walking distance of all the restaurants and shops. We would defiantly stay here again!!
We traveled with our family of 4 plus my brother-in-law and his wife. Our room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable. My brother-in-law however was not pleased with his room. He complained of black mold on the ceiling. Our room was on the second floor, my brother-in-law's was downstairs. The noise level was acceptable for Helen on a weekend and the hotel was in walking distance of restaurants, shops, and the cool river tubing.
my husband and I reserved this room for two nights. Where do I start..... Firstly, the shower situation was abysmal. The shower temperature would go from hot to cold with no way to adjust it. Secondly, there was a hole in the ceiling covered by a grate that leaked water constantly. The staff was polite, however not very helpful. I have stayed in some pretty ratty places but this one tops them all!
Brandy Nix is a problem at this establishment. We went for a Father's Day weekend. Drove five hours so we arrived late Friday evening. We enjoyed tubing Saturday and returned to our room with no towels at 3:30 in the afternoon. The front desk was very rude with no help in our situation. We then called Best Western customer service to express our dissatisfaction. After customer service called the hotel Brandy Nix ordered us to leave. When we went down to talk to her she refused talk to us and had the police tell us to leave and that we would not be refunded our money. I guess if you stay here do not complain or you are without a room. She put us out with nowhere to stay with our 2 year old daughter. We paid for two night and returned home within 24 hours. We will not recommend Helen Ga.
I would give it a zero rating if I could. This place is a dump! The staff is rude and the hotel is extremely run down. We tubed all day and they didn't clean our room while we were gone. We tuned all day and came back to a room without any towels. When we asked for clean towels they informed us they didn't have any and wouldn't have any for a few hours. We were sitting in our room soaking wet with no towels.. My husband walked to the lobby and got towels off the linen cart himself. The people at the front desk were extremely rude and sarcastic. This is the worst customer service I've ever experienced. They advertise free breakfast which is also a joke. You can have one item per person. They had cereal with no milk. We paid $430 for two nights and I wouldn't have paid $40 a night if I had seen it before hand. It's very outdated and the mattresses are worn out. I will never stay here again.
Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious. The beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was as good as you can do given the current situation. It would have been nice to have milk but that's what the refrigerator in the room is for. Thank you for the great veteran's rate.
The doors (room door and bathroom) were both soiled. The hotel limited the quanitity of breakfast items a guest could have to 1 (we ate elsewhere). I have yet to stay in a room in Helen that didn't smell a bit musty, rooms are always humid (in my opinion) at all hotels. This room was updated, but curtains were in rough shape, did not stay closed, I used hair clips to hold them shut and seal the gap. I loved not having carpet, but after showering the floor was very slippery and I slipped a few times on the floor from the level of humidity. The pool area is nice, but air inside was extremely hot as it was about 90 outside the enclosed pool area, but the water felt great.
Very nice, clean, quiet, and convenient. Standing in the lobby, looking at the main street, Dollar store is 1/4 mile down the street on left, Country Grocery store is 1/2 mile across the street on right. Need cannister gas? True Value hardware by Dollar store has it. Laundry mat is directly behind motel, maybe a little right of swimming pool, about 75 yard walk.
I do not remember the name of the man who checked us in but he was so accomidating getting us a handicapped room last minute for my mom who uses a walker. He even highlighted places to eat & things to do that do not have steps to make it easier for her. He really went above & beyond! All of the staff was great! Room was as expected from the pics & was walking distance from everything. The year round pool was great for my kids! I would definately stay here again!!!
I would recommend if staying for 1 or 2 nights. Dry wall was missing at the base of the walls in our room. Lady checking out Sunday morning was very rude. But the gentlemen and women who checked us in Saturday was super nice. Location is great. Overall it wasnt bad compared to the other hotels in the area.
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We stayed in the king whirlpool suite. It was very clean and very relaxing. We will definately book another stay at this particular hotel. The staff was very friendly and very helpful.
The wife and I ran away for the weekend to Helen, GA, to experience the Bavarian vibe. We stayed at the SureStay Hotel, because it was affordable, available, and had a jacuzzi in the room :) I was a little skeptical when I first started thinking about staying in a two star hotel, but was very pleasantly surprised by the SureStay. All of the facilities were very clean and well cared for. I really liked the fact that the rooms didn't have crappy carpet, but instead had laminate floors. Everything worked in the room. The closest I had to a gripe was that the tv remote was very generic, and the only functions on it that seemed to work was channel and volume, no closed captions, no mute, no sleep timer. We're already having discussions about making another trip to Helen and staying there, so it wasn't a big issue.
The location is great and the rooms were very clean. We love a restaurant nearby called Big daddy's that is within walking distance. The town is a cool place to visit and great for fishing during the summer time
The hotel location was amazing. So easy for us to walk all the shops and restuarant. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful as well. We were a little surprise that to access the indoor pool we had to go outside. Also while it was heated running through the cold night back to our rooms was not ideal. I would return and next time bring my own robe.
Exceptional Value. Friendly staff, good location. Decent pool. Will come back in future years. I really don't have enough time to come up with more superlatives. 200 characters are a lot to require. Have a good day.
Manager doesn't seem to care about her guest. She wouldn't even call us to talk about the issues we had during our stay. We went to Helen to relax and both nights we were there we couldn't sleep because of the noise.
Friendly staff, clean rooms and extremely comfy beds. It was really quiet. Everything is in walking distance. Which is great. They offer a basic brekfast which is good. We just grabbed some coffee. We will definitely be staying here again.
We found the room clean and neat. We liked the vinyl laminate style floor rather than carpet. It felt clean (no dust bunnies in the corners!). Beds were comfortable with a blanket between the cover sheets. No bulky duvet cover! It was cold and rainy when we arrived so a covered and well heated pool was a real bonus. Pool was clean and clear. Pool deck was not slippery - I like that! We didn't use the continental breakfast so no opinion on that. It is an older style building that might put some people off, but it was clean, neat, comfortable and a good value for the money. Only complaint was that the TV had terrible reception. Some channels were better than others, but mostly snowy - looking.
Upgraded CLEAN room! No rug!!!!! Clean bathroom, indoor pool, jetted tub! Would def stay here again. Front desk guy at check in was knowledgeable about the town and places to visit! Parking was easy, walking distance to ANYTHING in Helen,Georgia you want to see
The room was small, but clean with hard surface floors instead of the dreadful carpet. Bathroom was very small but usable. Check in was very cumbersome, since one of our friends had made reservations for three rooms. She needed to be there and sign paperwork; it's a good thing we arrived within an hour of each other. We did not have breakfast, since we wanted something more substantial than sweet rolls and went next door to the Huddle House. Location is very convenient to downtown and the Festhalle.
An unexpected surprise. Super clen and newly renevated rooms with womderfully comfortable beds. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We were there for weekend fun and the Surestay is right down town within walking distance to everything that we wanted to do. We will be back soon.
We have stayed at this hotel before, but they have done quite a few renovations since then. Even before, it was a clean, affordable stay. Now it's even a better deal. It's an easy walk into town and the pool area was great for relaxing after a long day.
This hotel was lovely. Very comfortable stay, excellent staff, a nice, quick walk to town and my family was happy. We appreciate the helpful front desk staff, and I thank you all for making our stay so pleasant!
This was a great one-night stay. The hotel was very easy to find. It's on a great location, walking distance from the very center. People were fast at checking us in and out. It's clean and confiable.
We arrived at this hotel around noon and were not able to get into a room. I had a little difficulty with the desk attendants' attitude. Overall this was a nice and clean room. The downside of the room was that it was noisy. The walls were paper thin and no sound insulation. The breakfast was acceptable. They did have microwavable sausage and egg croissant sandwiches which was great.
Old hotel with paper thin walls and ceiling. You can hear almost everything happening in the rooms next to yours and above yours. The noise bothered me a lot and I couldn't fall asleep. You have many other options in town with similar prices. I don't recommend this hotel.
No frills, clean, cozy. Great location. Parking in town is scarce, being within walking distance to most everything was a huge plus. This place is center of town. Huddle House is next door. The breakfast in the lobby was coffee, pastries, and a couple old apples, but didn't matter to us. Only interaction with staff was check in/out, and it was fine. Check in clerk was welcoming and friendly. Had jokes. Room was great, had a small balcony, a whirlpool, and an electric fireplace on a timer. Everything was clean. Bed was comfortable. Hotel was quiet. Real nice overnight couples escape.
We decided to come to Helen very short notice. We usually book ahead of time but that wasn't an option this time. We saw the hotel and decided to stop and see the rooms and rates. We were offered my husband's military rate with no problems. We are traveling with a 6 year old who is very hyper active and we did not want to disturb other guests so we asked for a room on the end and was accommodated. Our room was very clean and that is number one for me. We had lots of very noisy neighbors and had to call the front desk. She immediately came and asked them to be respectful of the other guests. They didn't listen but that is not her fault. Over all our stay was well enough that we will definitely stay here again if we travel this way.
Charming older property in need of an update. Clean but past its prime bedding and furniture. Room large but dull. Could benefit greatly with just paint. It was cool out and we enjoyed the gas fireplace made the room cozy. Staff nice they were very helpful. Breakfast is very minimal and basic. Coffee, juice, muffins, fruit like that. In a good location. Walking distance to town and shops for the fit. Short drive for the rest of us.
Was told the pool would be open on my trip to helen so we booked in October get there with 8 kids and the pool was olny open the first night so my sister's left to go home to Atlanta and i asked to get a refund for my last night so i could go home and was told no there not they can do for me
I was surprisingly very impressed with this budget friendly hotel. The location is PERFECT which was my original reason of booking. We upgraded to a jacuzzi room. The room was extremely clean. Nice laminate floors, not the nasty carpet you come to expect for budget conscious lodging. The jacuzzi is gigantic and well worth the upgrade. The bed was very comfortable and nice resort style pillows. My only minimal complaint is the continental breakfast is lacking. Basically pastries and juice. But the Huddle House is a quick 2 min walk.
We were there for the hot balloon festival. We have visited several times. I had a problem with dirty floor and had them clean it again. Our laptop was stolen. We didn't realize until we got home. We called a couple of times about the laptop. Nothing back from them. I wrote a review for Trip Advisor that has disappeared.
We stayed in Helen twice. My father and I hiked in GA, NC, and SC. We saw 21 waterfalls. Helen is a very nice town. The staff at the hotel were very nice. The rates were reasonable. We did not have any issues. I will stay there the next time I am in Helen.
This hotel is a great place to say when visiting Helen. It is just a few minutes walk into the center of town. The rooms were clean. The beds were comfortable. There was plenty of parking. The staff was friendly. I would stay here again.
The "BEST" Best Western venue on the Chattahoochee River while not directly on the river but in the heart of a iconic Alpine villege reasonably price for this tourist venue with an indoor pool...AND WELCOMING STAFF
Great location and easy walking distance to practically everything. However, it's not the cleanest. When we first checked in the room we were given had hairs all over the bed and pillows. The man at the front desk gave us a new room. All was well until we went to take a shower and discovered the shower curtain was moldy. Again, it was resolved very quickly. The rooms look to be in the middle of updates. It looks like carpet was just replaced with wood laminate. The bed and pillows were comfortable. Would've been a higher rating if it was just a little cleaner.
This place needs zero stars! It advertises as recently updated-if this is true they need to fire someone! Room had no baseboards, holes in the window covering, cracked window, missing lightbulbs, dirt accumulated around the sink faucets and more! At checkin they reuse not only key cards but the little envelope it comes in-grime covered! The breakfast was laughable. Coffee was thick with grunge, broken toaster, nothing fresh! They should have paid me to stay there!
The room was clean and had enough towels. My room 109 did not have a number on the door so I felt like I was special and had a private room. The cleaning lady came by in afternoons to see if we needed anything for that night or next morning. Thanks. The front desk has one lady that was pleasant and the other lady rude. The breakfast could be more than what they had but if you need more like in eggs go to the Hoffer's bakery they have the best breakfast in town.
The deluxe king room with balcony, fireplace, and jacuzzi is a welcome retreat after a busy day in the downtown area.Walking distance to many areas of interest. Front desk staff are welcoming, friendly and professional.
Room was clean, walking distance to all the fun. Staff was friendly, professional and helpful at all times of the day or night. Even with a 100% occupancy, the staff was busy and always courteous. Will definitely stay there again in Helen.
Room was clean but in desperate need of upgrade and maintenance. I would Think that best western rooms would be a little better maintained. Had it not been clean We would have went elsewhere. The towel rack in the bathroom was pulled out of the wall. The toilet was loose and rocked excessively.
We went to this hotel for the first weekend of Oktoberfest, in late September with a large group from our car club. It was conveniently located, easy to find, and the staff was very congenial and efficient. We will definitely will go back again next year. There were a few minor Issues with the room, that I called the hotel about afterwards. They were very apologetic and glad I called the issues to their attention and said they would address those minor issues immediately. All in all, a good value.
We had a great stay. We were in town for the Oktoberfest, so we were not in the room much. It had been remodeled since we were hear last and it looks great. You can't the location from the Fest Halle.
Very nice newly renovated hotel within easy walking distance of all Helen's downtown attractions and close to Fest Hall, package store. Staff is very attentive and outgoing Continental breakfast is minimal but in an nicely updated eating area.
We have had a phenomenal stay. I asked front desk for an extra blanket, I got it. It was a packed house this weekend, I didn't hear any noise. The indoor pool was clean and had additional towels for convenience. And all the restaurants were within walking distance of the hotel. The floors are wooden laminate. Beds are nice, firm, and clean. The bathroom is great. I'm a big girl and was able to use the bathtub for a bath. I plan on staying here again.
The front desk clerk named brandi is extremely rude and refused to help us with directions she also insisted we stay at another hotel.when we asked for towels she got a huge attitude. I will never stay at this hotel again.
The location of this hotel is great Near restaurants, Also very quiet place. Very nice breakfast My mom and I were very happy with hotel we will stay there next time we visit Helen ga Didn't experience any problem In our stay.
If your planning a visit to Helen, GA I suggest you go through the week. It is packed with people on the weekend. It took 1 hour to drive 1 mile into Helen due to the traffic. Google is not a big help in places and may get you off your path. Once arriving the check in was brief and courteous. The rooms were clean.
I really enjoyed my stay. The staff was great and very friendly. The hotel was convenient to downtown and tubing! The rooms were clean. The breakfast was not bad! The kids enjoyed the pool! Great place for the value!
No signs or chemicals after couple caught having sex in pool...... and after calling office staff and being told they'd call me right back, never received any kind of call, or anything. Multiple sets of cops came out but nothing was done pool wise to clean it. The indoor pool was main reason for us staying here.
Great hotel will definitely be going back! Breakfast was a good variety. Room and bed were comfy. Great location just 5 .in walk from shopping and restaurants. Staff was very helpful and nice people. Absolutely love helen ga.
Genuinely appalled at the state of the room. I was only staying one night and was exhausted upon arrival at the hotel & didn't have the energy to report all if the issues. I would've expected these issues more from a $50/night room, but not a $100/night. There were 7 flies in the room upon check in, the room smelled like cigarettes, the main lamp's bulb was out, woke up itching from the sheets of one bed so moved to the other bed, there was mold in the grout around the bath tub, the sink had a large crack in it, the floor was dirty (after a shower, the walk over to the bed coated my feet in dirt), anytime the room above me used water the pipes would make a high pitched squealing sound, in the morning the room felt damp despite the air conditioning unit being on all night, the door to my room would only open every other try with the key, and the “high speed Internet” was unusable as it was slower than my one bar t-mobile service. At least the mini fridge worked, but that's about the only highlight.
This is our favorite place to stay in Helen. Conveniently located so you can walk everywhere and not fight with traffic. The staff are always polite and friendly. The covered pool is nice. The jacuzzi/fireplace room is a nice touch for those special occasions.
The staff are amazing (Nancy is a tremendous asset to this location) They are helpful and care about their guests. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We love the location of the motel and how well the staff is knowledgeable of the area.
We stay at this hotel based on a very positive experience we had with a Best Western hotel earlier this spring. This experience was not so good. Room was not up to expectations. Apparently there had been a water leak...ceiling showed areas that had been patched and painted. Carpeting had been removed and replaced with manufactured flooring. While the facility was not nearly full several nights, we were there 6 nights, we ran low or out of hot water nearly every morning. One night there was a group being loud on balcony until at least 1:30 in the morning. When we said something, the clerk said that they had other complaints but there was no apology or follow through. Room was never cleaned and some days towels weren't even changed.
Laurie and I didn't have reservations at SureStay by Best Western, but the hotel we had reserved was not what it's website promised. We had to fine a new hotel after we arrived in Helen. One of my best strokes of luck ever was booking this Best Western property. We easily walked to all the restaurants and shops in the village. Super staff, great beds, nice pool, etc. If you are going to Helen you can't find a better place in my opinion.
Nice clean rooms, quiet area away from the business of downtown Helen, but within walking distance to many places. Staff was friendly and nice. Did not use the pool, but looked inviting. I liked that they do not use big comforters. Clean overlay blankets.
Start to finish we enjoyed our one night stay at this Best Western brand. Front desk staff was warm and friendly. A happy bunch. Room was right where we requested. Free breakfast was standard and as expected. Thank you, for the hospitality! Newly renovated rooms were fine.
The location was walking distance from shops and restaurants, so you don't need to drive. It had a simple breakfast and covered pool. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was informative, accommodating, patient, and kind. Best hotel experience I've had.
From the first phone call till we headed back home we had a great visit here. It is in walking distance of everything. The rooms were recently updated with nice flooring (hate carpet in hotel rooms) They have a fridge with drinks and water bottles for only a dollar at the front desk. Snacks for a dollar also. The continental breakfast was smaller than most places we have stayed at but it was enough for a couple of mornings. I want to give a huge shout out to Brandy who took our original booking. We reserved 13 rooms for our Statesville HOG club. She took excellent care of everyone calling to reserve their rooms and even held more rooms than we initially needed. Thank you Brandy!!! I would definitely recommend staying here.
This motel is very conveniently located. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Grandkids really enjoyed the pool which is enclosed. Water was comfortable, but enclosure was hot, no breeze because sliding doors would not open. Staff was very nice...we booked directly through the motel. Breakfast was ample and well organized. Would definitely stay again and have recommended to friends already.
Excellent value for the ammenties offered. Great breakfast bar. I didn't expect the breakfast bar to have many options but they did. Rooms are clean, and walking distance from downtown. They also offer an indoor pool that was very well maintained. I would definitely recommend this to others!
The location is fantastic. Very close walk to town. But that's about it. The room had a musty odor. The bathroom floor felt moist the entire time, as though someone had just taken a hot shower. The towel holder was bad rusted, the floors were not vacuumed, the paint on the sink and counter was peeling. The bathroom had two lights, one with the exhaust fan, and one similar to the old heat lamp style. The first night the exhaust light went out. The other light went out the second night, leaving us to shower with flashlights. The pool is inside of a green house. The green house had several doors that could open and close, however the tracks were rusty making it difficult to open or close them. One of the doors frame had came loose, leaving exposed glass. The breakfast was frosted flakes, raisin bran, toast, bagel, packaged pastry, yogurt, and thawed (previously frozen) sausage egg and cheese croissants, apples, and oranges.
We had stayed in this motel previously and found it to be OK and a reasonable price for the room. On this weekend the room rate was quite inflated making it not such a great value for the room quality. The room had an odor and wasn't as clean as I would have preferred.
Hotel was clean, nice and very close to downtown. We walked to everything. The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful! We would def choose to stay there again. It's also right next door to the Huddle House. Although the hotel offers a breakfast, we were very happy to have more choices just next door.
Room was decent. Inlaws stayed next door at America's Best Value Inn and paid $228.00 vs. $360 for the same amount of time and same room (double bed). Not worth the extra money paid. Room did not smell great but was clean.
The hotel was the best part of our trip, everything else was OK and somewhat worth the money I spent but the hotel was by far the best part. The room was super clean, the wifi service was faster than mine at home and the mini fridge was the best one I have dealt with in a very long time.
DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL! Staff is horrible, pricing is a joke, disgusting pool area! Customer service sucks, they do not care. It is nothing like a Best Western hotel. If this is what a SureStay Hotel is, I'm sure to stay away! It's a dump run by uncaring incompetents! This is my worst review ever given for a reason... DON'T STAY HERE!
The hotels breakfast even being just continental breakfast the coffee was watered down, orange juice was watered down and had really nothing to eat besides yogurt and jimmy dean microwave sandwiches. The beds are in poor condition, pillows aren't very soft or firm.
Great value for the location! Within walking distance of everything. Room was very clean and had a microwave and fridge. Kinda small but most people don't go to Helen to stay in the room. Was fine for me and my friend.
The hotel is still remodeling some of the rooms, they said the room we were in was due for a bathroom and vanity upgrade but I did not see anything wrong with what was there. Our room was very nice and clean. Staff was courteous and helpful. We have always stayed there and will continue to.
A good value in the heart of town. A little old but well maintained. Very quiet and comfortable. Complimentary breakfast, internet, and a heated seasonal indoor pool. Within easy walking distance of the entire downtown of Helen and its attractions. Staff is friendly and helpful. Nothing fancy but exceptionally well situated and easy on the wallet compared to nearby lodgings.
We had a great family short vacation. The rooms are ok for the price. Location is great right at town. Very close to tubing shopping and the park . Staff was very sweet and very helpful throughout our stay.
The best western in Helen is amazing for hikers! Clean rooms, large space to lay out out gear and amazing staff that even offered to do our laundry for us. The breakfast is free and we were told we'd be allowed to get cereal throughout the day!
This hotel was overpriced for the value received. In any other location, the nightly rate would be reduced by 50%. The carpet had not been vacuumed and the damaged walls simply painted over. The location was convenient to town. Best Western needs to either update these low-end motels or get rid of them.
The property is older and could use more than a superficial updating, but all in all, we enjoyed our one night stay very much. I called several properties, looking specifically for an indoor pool that my 7-year-old grandson could enjoy (April is still too cold for an outdoor pool). There was at least one other hotel with an indoor pool quite a bit cheaper, but (when asked) they acknowledged that their pool heater was not working and had not been working for several weeks. That sealed the deal with Sure Stay. I always encourage people to consider why they are making a trip and what their end goal is when traveling. For this overnight stay, I needed a clean room, comfortable bed and indoor pool without breaking the bank. I got all three and more. The hotel staff, both on the phone and in person, were friendly, professional and personable. The beds were very comfortable, there were sufficient towels, hot water for showers and the Keurig in the room was a definite bonus. We used the fridge and the microwave, and my husband even touched up a shirt with the iron. Everything worked perfectly. What more can one ask? If I were going to stay for more than a night or two, I'd probably pop for a more expensive hotel with better breakfast options and lots of other amenities - assuming it was updated, of course. But for our purposes this property met our needs just fine and I would definitely consider staying there again.
We stayed here for one night. The room was very nice beds are very comfortable and I was very surprised that they had free breakfast. This is a great little hotel and I would recommend it highly. They have a heated pool which is very nice. close parking near your room. Everybody was very friendly if you need a place to stay pick this hotel very reasonable price and very comfortable.
I would have preferred to stay in a hotel that was newer. Carpet had an odor , along with the room, and lighting was dim. Place needs an upgrade. Something in the room was biting us and left me and my son's legs itching. Also that night I realized I needed a cot and asked the older lady on duty for a cot and she was rude and not helpful chastising me, saying "you should have told us you needed a cot by calling us after you booked the room", how rude needless to say never got a cot recieved a blanket and pillow, lol and told use it for the smelly floor that had a 300 year old odor coming from it yuck, smh.
The room was very nice and clean. We loved the jacuzzi suite! The front desk clerk was very nice and helpful when I had to change my booking due to a family emergency. I really appreciated her kindness and concern for my situation
My daughter and I love to take time to get away by ourselves. This weekend we chose to go to Helen. It was a chilly, rainy Saturday but we enjoyed our day. The SureStay is an older hotel so we didn't expect a lot. The bathroom's toilet paper holder had no roll in it. The toilet paper was actually sitting on the floor. We kept it either on the back of the tank or on the rim of the tub. The first morning the housekeeping came by before we left the room. They handed my daughter new towels but never came back and made the beds or emptied the trash. Neither of us slept very well on the mattresses, they seem to be older.
A close walk to town and everything around. They have so many restaurants and a putt putt for the family and many shops to glide through. Make sure to watch the Glass Blowing. The beds were comfortable, pillows nice and fluffy.
We stayed here for years back when it was the Super 8 motel. This was our first time since changing over. And boy were we impressed! We got a room with a jacuzzi tub and a fireplace. The rooms have been renovated and are very nice and modern, including laminate flooring. Great location so you can walk to anywhere in town. We will definitely be back!
Staff was very helpful. Location ideal. Parking very convenient. Close to downtown, Huddle House next door. City Hall across the street. Key issue solved quickly. Will come back next year, hopefully. Thank you for great stay
This is a great location walking distance to downtown helen. However the rooms are outdated even though they stat they are remodeled. Also unsure how well they clean since we found pjs from previous guest in room.
Our family goes to Helen every year for New Year's Eve and we had booked at this hotel once before, several years ago. It was absolutely horrible. I knew that they had changed owners and we were willing to try our luck again because the price was perfect for our budget. We were not disappointed at all! The front office staff was efficient and we were able to check in a little bit early. We stayed in the newer part of the motel, our room was clean, our beds were soft, and our towels were fluffy. The continental breakfast was decent. The walk to the heart of Helen was easy. But the absolute best part of our stay was the heated in-door pool. My daughter and I had a GREAT time swimming around and standing under the heated waterfall. It was a really fun time. After our first awful experience, I'm glad we tried again. We will definitely be back to this hotel next New Year's!
Its a Nice place, we stay here often when traveling to Helen. We have had Good and bad experiences, but the issues were rectified, just an inconvenience. I would definitely stay here in the Future. They need lights next to the beds!!@
This motel is in need of some serious updating. Dark, dingy rooms, without many electrical outlets. One lamp was all the lights that were in the main room. We booked for 2 nights, but only stayed one we went to the Hampton, much better. Best Western should visit this place to make sure its name brand doesn't take too much of a hit.
We got into the hotel late Sunday night. We had a long stressful trip and were happy to rest for the night. Upon entering Helen, we were so impressed by the Christmas lights and town, we changed our travel itinerary. We canceled Gatlinburg and moved our Maggie Valley reservations out by a day. We also changed rooms and got a king suite. The staff were very helpful and we had a great time. This hotel is located well and has a Huddle House next door. City Hall is across the street (and up the hill). Stay in the suites, they are well worth it.
This hotel is in an excellent location, walkable to almost anything in the town of Helen. The beds are fine and the room was clean. However the lighting was very poor (for instance, no bedside lights and just one dim floor lamp and one very dim desk lamp), dogs in the hotel barking throughout the morning and evening that calls to the desk did not stop, nothing to find TV channels, poor continental breakfast, and very basic amenities. On the plus side, there's an indoor pool which we used years ago when the hotel was owned by another group. We come to Helen regularly, but will not likely come here again.
The rooms are being remodeled. The flooring is old. Staff was friendly. The reason for the low rating. Our carpet was dirty and they did not vacuum during our stay and it was obviously dirty. The location is great for walking.
Older hotel been remodeled and somewhat updated. Location good but steep driveway. Continental breakfast was good and coffee in room. Staff very helpful with directions and suggestions. Helen is beautiful but be careful when you park. $5.00 every time you park and still have a good walk. This hotel is within walking distance.
Good clean rooms. Lady "B" was great an friendly went out her way to make everything perfect. I'm be going back there for sure because of her looking at for the guest. Walking distance to most things I'm Helen.
A very simple room, clean, but you can tell this place needa a little work. I stayed one night and didnt really need any amenities so it was perfect. Continental breakfast was ok. Wasnt looking to eat there since i knew i was going to the German place down the road.
We had a group of 30 friends stay here for 5 days/4 nights. All of the rooms had been pre-assigned, however when we arrived all of those selections had been changed. No reason given. Check in process took what seemed like forever. So everyone got off on the wrong foot. We we told the facility had been upgraded recently. NOT TRUE. Maybe, new paint, and new carpet and beds... BUT, all furnishings were very well used. Old bath fixtures. Old a/c units were not functioning properly. The a/c unit drains were clogged not allowing the water to drain outside.. So it was just being blown back into the room making everything feel dampish. Three people got sick while there. 4 people came down sick immed after the trip. The included breakfast was a joke and not enough seating. After the first day we all walked next door to the Huddle House. Maid service was hit or miss. We got skipped 2 days as did most other rooms. Two couples moved to a different hotel. One couple just packed up and left town. What a GREAT BIG DISSAPPOINTMENT from Best Western. They should be ashamed to even own this property. ??? anything good to say??? Yes... it was CHEAP .... we got a special group rate of $70/night. You get what you pay for.
Yes, it's a little older, but the location is great. Right on the main drag, but just outside of the busiest part of town. Our room is clean. It has a mini fridge and a microwave. It has an indoor heated pool, which was a great surprise for our son. The front desk was very nice when we checked in. Considering we're here in the middle of Oktoberfest, it's a great deal.
We were told everything was renovated - not so. The bathroom was so tiny and rust around. No hair dryer - we had to go to the office to borrow one. The bed squeezed so badly, it woke up bedpartner by just rolling over. Breakfast was pretty awful. The only good is we had clean sheets and towels. Jacuzzi in bedroom was really stupid. Would never return.
I was surprised to find a room available in Helen during Oktoberfest on relatively short notice. So I was going to be ok with this place regardless. But it more than met our expectations. It is just a 5 minute walk to the river along Main street. Room had 2double beds, microwave, fridge, and coffee maker. AC was needed and worked well. Room was spacious and very clean. There was a slight smell of mildew but that was the only complaint. Check in and out was quick and easy.
The room was clean and comfortable, which made a long day on the road more bearable. Nancy at the front desk was unbelievably helpful with local information, and even went to bat helping us find a hospital for one of our injured motorcyclist. She went went far above the call of duty and is to be commended for her kindness and help. What a great place to stay, nice pool, too.
I spent one night. The room was ok. It seemed to be pretty clean. TV was ok, WiFi worked well. It had a fridge and microwave. Some of the furniture was beat up. The bed was nice, slept well. Walls are a little thin. Neighbors were a little loud. The door to the bathroom would not close because it would not clear the new toilet. Shower worked well, plenty of hot water. Breakfast was ok. Cereals, coffee, juice, bagels, toast, yogurt, sausage biscuits. The swimming pool was great! I would stay again, I got a good rate. Easy to walk anywhere.
I was really impressed with this motel. It was super clean, a really spacious room. Had a Keurig coffee machine complete with some K-cups. Located in Helen in the middle of the Alpine village, you can walk to anything there. It was a great price for the convenience. The beds were very comfortable. There was a free breakfast, which I did not partake in. Also had an indoor pool.
We are BW Rewards members so I wanted to use all my "travel rewards" before they expire. This is seriously the closest chain hotel to downtown Alpine Helen (The Helendorf Inn is the closest). We walked out our hotel room door and literally 3 minutes away we were on the bridge overlooking the Chattahoochee river! It is an old but quaint hotel. Nice gal at the front desk. Our room was not facing the Main Street so we were happy, but as soon as you walked into the room it felt like a cave. It was cool and very damp!!!! Opening the door didn't help either. We cranked up the a/c to 72 and left to go tubing. We arrived 4 hours later, and nothing improved. Perhaps the rains and the river has caused this increased level of moisture in the room. The sheets felt a bit moist too; however I got the best night sleep! Nice semi-firm beds with nice side-sleeper pillows, too. Continental breakfast was decent but nothing to write home about.
The motel staff was excellent, very helpful both when making reservations and check in. Room was clean and good size. Lots to do within, walking distance, dining and shopping. Nancy at the front desk, was very helpful with local knowledge, suggested a couple of great places to eat.
There were bugs everywhere, most dead, some alive. Bathroom was dirty, there was hair too. I cleaned (had Lysol wipes with me). On arrival I tried to check in an hour before and the front desk was not helpful at all and rude about their flat out “NO”. We travel a lot and usually find all hotels very accommodating. I expected more as I saw good ratings for hotel, very disappointing.
This place has seen better days. It's in a good location in Helen. The breakfast was good and that's about it for plus marks. The bed was was past needing to be replaced as were the towels, carpet and sheets. We were there on a cold, rainy January weekend and had a hard time staying warm in the room.
This is a great value. The motel is close to everything. The room and facilities were very clean. The staff are very warm and friendly. We stayed one night during a very busy time and wished we could have stayed longer. We would definitely stay here again.
would not stay there or recommend.had to wait 15 minutes for check in.room was dirty.poor room service.bed fell apart.dirty linens not picked up.carpet was not clean. was not vacuumed.is close to town
This hotel is within walking distance to downtown. The rooms have been updated recently. They are clean and roomy. The front desk was helpful every time we had a question. The breakfast was lacking but you are right next door to a Huddle House. We will stay here again.
This is a very nice place to stay. Nice room and staff. It is very close to down town. We like to walk to town every day. There is a nice park very close to the hotel. The best time to go to Helen is on the weekend.
We stayed as this hotel for a week. The room was always clean as well as towels and sheets. Friendly staff and well located with a walking distance the to the main street. Breakfast is averaged but, it's not like in other best westerns I previously stayed at. No eggs in any form, sausages or patties, only plain bagels & bread, it worked but definitely can be improved. The facility needs maintenance, my toilet was loose, the bathtub didn't drain properly and the floor needs to be replaced. If your are looking for a cheap place on a short vacation it will help but I only can give it 3 stars.
Ok it's a nice location. Helen is charming. The hotel is somewhat dated though the staff is reasonably charming and friendly if occasionally unresponsive. The internet is literally as close to dial up as I can remember. The rooms are typical motel. Semi Comfy beds, No bugs, Coffee maker is the poptop Keurig so it's not the crap pod thing you find in more expensive hotels The heater is a PTAC thru wall. Unit with the thermostat installed in the unit so one end of the room is hell and one is the ice pack. The bathroom is basic, industrial towels standard set up. The peeling wall covering is accented by the rust in the toilet paper holder. The furniture is dated and had the scars to show it. The television is a basic flat screen about twice the size of a computer monitor. The walls are paper thin.. I spent two lovely nights enjoying a neighbor next door with either deathly sleep apnea or operating a chainsaw. When I spoke to the staff the first morning I was told "he'll be gone tomorrow" I can understand not moving me.. Since there were only nine it 10 other people in the whole hotel. It's well located in the center of town. The heat lamp in the bathroom is apparently a fluorescent for all the heat it puts off. Gave it a 2 because for the price... I've had better
This is a basic hotel, there are no frills, it's a bit dank, dark and dreary, hard to heat. It's at one end of town without the action, which I guess during tourist season means it's fairly peaceful. It's dated, but the bed was comfortable.
This place is not pet friendly! It's not like this place is top 10 in Helen.. It's run down, needs to be updated.. I've stayed here several times in the past and it just gets worse.. I stay at the Helendorf that is very very nice and pet friendly!
We stayed here for 2 days, while chasing waterfalls, on our adult spring break 2018. A very nice, quiet hotel, centrally located in the middle of town. We were able to walk most places, until we went to the waterfalls. The price was reasonable and the front check in persons were very friendly. We will definitely recommend this hotel to everyone.
Great location for walking to restaurants & shops. Quiet rooms, well maintained & across from a manicured hedge welcoming guests to Helen!! We reserved on line & were not disappointed when we arrived... Anna, welcomed us warmly & when we arrived home she had called to let us know that room service had found a "left" behind valuable. thanks & gratitude.
Good motel with clean rooms and comfy beds. Pool could have been warmer as it is still cooler in the area though. The hotel is in transition of owners but I was assured by Jenna that the continental breakfast will get better, right now its a joke. The pic says it all with the hand for size comparison. They also had bread & bagels, and 2 types cereal with milk. Apple & orange juices and coffee were offered for drinks.
Spur of the moment stop on Christmas Eve, room was clean and hotel was convenient for a walk through Helen. Desk clerk was awesome, polite, professional and helpful. Surprised to find same desk clerk at check out and another wonderful experience. Will definitely stay again.
This is my second Review of this hotel. Several years ago I wrote a good review here when it was Super 8--or something like that. Last year (early 2017) we went there and the experience wasn't that great because the room wasn't good. I think they were in a transition to Best Western ownership then. I didn't write a review then. Anyway, we just went there for two nights (Dec. 30/31, 2017) for New Years Eve and had a great time. The check in was running late--even past 3 PM. It was too cold to keep killing time outside. The young guy at the front desk, upon our request, accommodated us to an upgraded room. The staff was very friendly. The room was a bit dated but everything worked fine. There was even a Keurig coffee maker. The location is the best value! Right next to a 24/7 Huddle House and to the shops and restaurants. I loved swimming in the warm pool when it was very cold outside the enclosed area. It really is the best value for the money in Helen!! Even if we find some other nicer/upgraded hotels at competitive price, the location of this hotel and the heated pool are compelling reasons to go back there again and again.
My family and I care here cause my grandma stayed here last y at and they had a great room. And this time we had a great room too. For people that are disabled you can ask for a specific or down stairs room. My grandma needs it and they checked and they had a room just for her it was so nice. So I highly recommend this place for people that are disabled or in wheelchairs. And the room was very clean my family and I were very pleased.
My family and I stayed Saturday night at this hotel. I really liked how we could walk from hotel to the town's offerings. This was the last weekend of the Christmas festival. Having just received alot of snow I found the staff to be pleasant and very helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The whole trip was an awesome experience. Thank you staff for a great weekend. Merry Christmas
Years ago, we stayed at this hotel when it was owned by a different chain. The Surestay is currently being updated by Best Western and we truly appreciated the changes. Very, very comfortable bed, clean rooms, excellent customer service. There were a couple things that were uncomfortable; such as one chair and no tables, tv sat very low and could not be seen when lying down on bed, thin walls and very dim light bulbs. All in all though, we were very comfortable and pleased with the value of the room. Yep, we will definitely stay there again.
The SureStay is an older motel 8 that was bought out. They have been doing some fixing up, replacing carpets, bedding etc. It was a decent place to stay for a short weekend motorcycle trip at a fair price compared to the other more modern Hotels which were twice the price. If this place was anywhere else I would not have chosen to stay here but it also would have been much cheaper. The bed was comfortable. The room and bathroom were clean. The heat/ac worked tho it's a noisy wall unit. The continental breakfast was extremely basic. If it's a short stay and your looking to keep your expenses in check and a comfortable bed is all you need with a hot shower you'll be fine. If you like the modern chain hotels pay twice as much and stay there. You won't be happy otherwise.
A run of the mill hotel/motel room. Beds were okay... room was clean... A good value. Within walking distance of almost everything. GPS location had us going in circles... but we found it. IF I ever return to Helen I would stay here again.
This hotel is within easy walking distance of all the Octoberfest events and bars. It is an easy walk if you have enjoyed a few too many German beers. The bed is extremely comfortable. The facility is old and the building does show some wear but it looks to have been recently upgraded. The only downside is that the walls are a bit thin making noise a bit of a problem.
After ditching a slum hotel down the street, my significant other and I went to the SureStay to get a room!! We asked to see the rooms before we booked and it was not a problem at all for them to show us. The rooms were clean and a great deal for how close it is to downtown. Lee and Daniel were amazing, extremely helpful, and made us feel right at home! We really appreciated how accommodating they were for us. I would recommend this hotel for a nice, clean place to stay.
Great customer service!! Will look forward to the upcoming upgrades in the near future. Great location, just a short walk to everywhere. Will look forward to the new kitchen area as well, always a plus to have a good breakfast to get away from paying any additional outside of the facility
Went to Helen for our anniversary. Hotel employees were very nice. Upgraded our room. Jacuzzi tub was wonderful. Bed was comfortable. Only issue was some ants around the sink, but I think they are upgrading. Would stay again.
09/02/2017 Our first time in Helen Ga. Liked the town, hated the hotel. The rooms are very dated and smell bad. The employees were nice but in the three days we were there our room was never cleaned. The "do not disturb" was not on the door. On our third night I went back to the desk again and told them our room has still not been cleaned. Her final solution for us to have clean linen was to have us move from an upstairs room to a room downstairs. It would have been too much for her to just give me 2 clean towels and washcloths. Best Western / SureStay really let us down on this vacation.
Nicely updated motel just a couple of blocks from the tourist shops, Festhall, activities, and restaurants. During our midweek visit we enjoyed the enclosed pool (open till 11PM) and the bountiful breakfast options (served in lobby area till 10AM)...both great for us night owls! Reception and custodial staff were all cheerfully helpful.
My husband and I did a quick trip to Helen this past weekend. We picked Sure Stay due to it being close to town and great price. We had a King Jacuzzi room... very clean, and plenty of hot water for the very large jacuzzi. A big thanks to Daniel Sutton at the front desk for helping us arrange a second night there without having to change rooms. We will be back and would recommend this hotel
We had a very nice stay at SureStay. Our room had a fireplace and jacuzzi which wasn't mentioned in the description and that was an added plus. There is a heated indoor pool also available but we did not use as we didn't stay for long. But there is room for improvement. Though the plumbing looks new the furniture and upholstery are old and faded and torn at places. Also the place needs a good dusting. Especially the balcony. We saw some cobwebs there and refrained from going back there again. The view from our room was very beautiful but it was spoilt because of a dumpster parked right outside. But all in all I should say it was good for the price we paid.
The town is gorgeous, hotel has beautiful views and walking distance to everything downtown. The staff is beyond friendly and out going. We were evacuating from hirricane irma and this place helped ease the stress after a very long drive. Very clean.
Stayed for two nights on Labor Day Weekend. The shower really needs a handle for getting in and out. The shower could be cleaner also. The beds are comfortable. The continental breakfast is OK. No waffles. The hotel does have an indoor heated pool. I didn't use it, but children were really enjoying it.
We made reservations several months ago and got great rates. We had stayed here when it was over 5 years ago. It is transitioning to a sure stay. There is a lot of remodeling and a great need for it. Housekeeping is a laughing matter. The rooms are musky and smelly. We bought air freshener and placed them in the room and left for 5 hours, when came back the odor was gone. We cleaned our on room after the housekeeper walked in and we told her to come back later, she never did. We told her we didn't need her to clean our room the whole 3 days we were there because we had cleaned it and didn't want her to mess it up. We went got our own towels. We left the soap and razor cap on the rim of the shower where we found it when we checked in. They had changed the room rate on us for one night but they changed it back with no problem. When we advised the nice lady at check out about the room she knocked off a big chunk of the bill. Daniel is the nice guy who fixed the room rate problem and Tonja checked us out. This hotel needs a lot of work but I have to say they are trying and in time it will improve. I will give them some time and we may stay here again.
All the employees here seem to smoke. We do not smoke and don't appreciate being subjected to it every time we open our door or walk down a side-walk....and yet there it was. Curtains on the windows were wrinkled like they just came out of a dryer without ever seeing an iron or at least a steamer! Room had a table and ONE chair that was stained. Overall not the nicest place we have stayed though it was walking distance to most of town. If this is a Best Western its a far cry from the one we stayed in the night before in Roanoke, Va.....which I just gave an EXCELLENT review of....talk about opposite ends of the spectrum!! Very steep driveway to get in and out of. Breakfast was extremely lacking.....next morning we ate at the Huddle House next door......There are better choices in town. Would NOT stay here again, or recommend it to anyone!
Staff was excellent, hotel was nice and clean. Super value for what we paid with an amazing location. Room was clean, pool was nice and simple. Breakfast was included. Serious value. Will stay again thank You!!!!!
I chose the SureStay because the rate was best, and it was close to downtown. Our room was not ready, but Debbie moved us to another first floor room with handicapped bathroom due to my strained hamstring. The room was clean except for the carpet. My white socks were soon black. The remodeling and updates were a little odd, especially the shower. But if you want hot water, this is the place to go. First morning, I wanted my usual cup of tea and started water in the coffee maker. I brewed my tea only to find that the coffee maker had not been cleaned, and there was a used coffee bag in the maker. Debbie was mortified and replaced the brewer with a Keurig. We were resting in our room during a storm when the door suddenly was opened by a housekeeper who had not knocked. Thank goodness we were not indisposed. Also, the ice machine outside our room was completely dry. Overall, the staff was helpful and nice. I don't really think I would stay there again.
We moved our stuff in and got comfortable. Then realized there was no table or chair in the room. Must be real economy mode. We were too tired to complain and wait for a fix. The room smelled strongly of disinfectant or cleaner when we moved in. One bed was okay, The other was broken down on the edges. Since our stay was one night, we decided to stick it out but will not go back there. The staff was friendly. The breakfast was fruit, cereal or pre-packaged rolls. Location was walkable to downtown Helen.
We were among a convention of people who filled every available room in this resort town. The front desk ladies were working hard to stay up with everything. The room was fairly clean, but very worn, and a lampshade was in shreds, which was the first thing I noticed when opening the door. Obviously, this motel must have been here for years. Breakfast was sparse, but coffee was good. Only three tables in dining area made it impossible to eat there anyway. Don't plan to ever stay there again.
No longer a Super 8 Motel Not sure what motel chain this property is now... I would sure check the rooms before I stayed. The heated pool is still a plus for this property. Huddle House is next door. Town is within walking distance.
Made reservations for five nights several months ahead of stay. Since there was a group of us staying there needing five rooms I requested that they all be down stairs and as close together as possible . Person taking reservations said it would be no problem. Upon arrival there was no signage for the motel only a bikers welcome extra security parking. Checked in and I was upstairs like several others and we were spread into different areas of the motel. Renovations were being made to motel and the noise and dust during the day until 6 pm every day was horrible. Last day of our stay the rooms were not even cleaned . When I asked if my room was going to be cleaned the answer was we are short handed today . Finally my trash was taken out and new towels left on the chair. Only reason I am giving this place an average grade is because of the daytime office employees. Next visit to Helen I will stay somewhere else .
The staff at this hotel went out of their way to help us enjoy our trip. They suggested a great restaurant, helped us report a problem with another hotel that hadn't lived up to the standards of the choice brand, extended breakfast hours on our day of departure and much more.
This has just become a SureStay hotel and is in the process of a much needed remodel. The bed was comfortable enough and the room was clean but dated. There was a lot of trash piled up at the end of the stairs and stacks of broken down boxes under the stairs. Breakfast was well stocked but not a lot of variety like you find in a pricier hotel. It was a pretty good value at $41/night!
