The hotel itself is ok. The pop machines were out of pop the room had no remote and one of the elevators was out of order. The room I was decent. Bed was clean as was the bathroom. We were on the first floor close to the front desk so it was a little loud but not bad. The area around the hotel was very run down, lots of buildings boarded up. We chose this location to be close to the Mark Twain museum and Bushnell park. Came in on a Friday and left on Sunday
I would not recommend this place at all. It is in a very seedy area and there are a lot of unwanted people walking around the property. We were unloading our car and were asked if we wanted to buy drugs by someone who pulled up in a Cadillac Escalade. Hotel is not clean and the hallways are extremely dark and dingy. Breakfast area was small and food was terrible.
People out front drinking and playing music on jam box. Smelled pot all through hotel. Man in lobby drinking out of a cooler. Homeless man hanging out with his umbrella in the back of the property. Bathroom floor was sticky. I will never stay here again.
I am only giving 3 stars because the staff was so friendly and nice. Our issue was the funky room. Even with the air on, it was still just kind of stuffy with a general funkiness. Everything else in the room was clean and the beds were comfortable and the location was good. I don't know if the funkiness was in the carpet or the air conditioner filter, but please air that room out and get an odor neutralizer of something.
My husband and I stayed at the Best Western Hartford on Friday, July 19th - Monday, July 22, 2024. We were there for the Hartford Jazz Festival and go every year. We are world travelers and have never had an experience like this anywhere. I completed the survey while we were still there and someone responded immediately. I then responded to the email and attached pictures, however, I have not had an additional response. Before I list my concerns I do have to say that the staff were friendly and tried their best. They did not have enough help, support and supplies for a sold out hotel. And before you ask if I complained, I did not. I overheard other people asking for new rooms and there were not any available. I also heard the staff complaining to each other and I felt so bad for them. Concerns: - the room smelled especially around the door - my husband used the bathroom before me and cleaned the shower, it was covered in hair - I washed the floor later and have pictures of the dirty towel - the sink in the bathroom did not drain - rust all over the shower head and racks - the exhaust in the bathroom did not work - the bathroom door was rotten along the edge - there was mold around the tub floor - the wall near the tub was falling away and rotten - tried to sit by the pool but the smell from the Sewer Treatment Plant next door was so strong that I had a headache. It was like that all week. - the curtains in the room were ripped - the remote control on the TV did not work - the clock was covered in dust - there was not enough food during breakfast, they ran out of everything, eggs, yogurt etc. - Saturday night they ran out of towels and linens - there was only one staff person on Saturday night, there was trash in the halls and no one to clean it
DO NOT STAY HERE ! ENOUGH SAID. I WARNED YOU. THE PLACE LOOKS LIKE A HOTEL FOR DISPLACEMENTS, THE STAFF WAS VERY UNCOOPERATIVE, THE HOTEL SMELLED LIKE WEED, THE BEDS ARE MADE FOR SMALL CHILDREN
Smelled like marijuana all weekend - every time you went in the front door. Bathroom door looked as if it was kicked in and didn't shut - questionable brownish/rust colored stuff at the base of the tub where it meets the flooring - also spots on door and hinges - yuck. Toilet didn't flush work a darn. Although convenient to downtown, has some issues to be addressed.
Location was a little remote but in close proximity to our event activities. Clean facility, great shower pressure, friendly staff.
The staff was friendly and informative, the room was clean. Outdated, but clean. Quiet hotel also. Continental breakfast wasn't the best, but it's convenient and included in the price of the stay. Bed was very comfortable.
We stayed here for one night for a family graduation in Hartford. It was clean and spacious. We were in room 103 right by the front desk so from time to time it was a little noisy, but otherwise no complaints. The room was great with a fridge and microwave. The water pressure was incredible and the towels were good. Breakfast had ample options. There was coffee and tea and hot chocolate available in the lobby 24 hours. It's a great location 7 minutes from downtown Hartford. There is a cannabis dispensary right next door so there were some shady looking people walking around the area. But we had no problems at all with anyone. The front desk staff were friendly.
We needed a place to stay between Boston and New York and luckily came across this hotel. We were greeted very warmly by Juan and given our nice clean rooms promptly. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was very clean. Upon leaving, I left the spare set of keys to our van in the room. I realized what had happened once we were in New York and called the hotel in a panic. Fortunately Juan answered the phone and assured me he had the keys and told me they would be able to mail them to me and to call the manager in the morning. The manager was so nice, took my information and told me she would mail out the keys that day. Now it's just a matter of the post office doing its job. So thankful I stayed at the Best Western Hartford!
Service was friendly. Hot breakfast was free so I've never complained and always find it just as suitable as a McDonald's breakfast - it's always the same options of toast, eggs, home fries and a sausage option. I've stayed at over a dozen BW this year. The rooms in this one were a little more worn than any of the other rooms I've stayed at. Seemed clean - some staining on the couch. Bed was comfortable. Price was right.
Lots of both good and bad about this hotel. First off, Stephanie at the front desk was awesome. Breakfast was decent other than no waffles. Everything else was pretty much bad. My room was not cleaned properly, as there was trash left from the previous tenent, although I just cleaned up and didn't mention it. When I pulled back the covers, there was no fitted sheet. Asked the guy at the desk and he said "sorry, they're all dirty"... whatever, I'll sleep on top of the flat for the night. Next day, still no fitted sheet. I asked for one at the desk, and she said she'd look for one but I never heard back. Next night, still nothing. Asked Stephanie, and she at least attempted to find one. After bringing me 2 different sheets, we realized they didn't have a fitted sheet to fit my bed 🙄. The shower head was DISGUSTING! The shower curtain was not water resistant AT ALL and I completely flooded the bathroom during my first shower, and it took every towel and rag they supplied to clean it up. The toilet ran all day and all night. The bed and pillows were decent, and I slept pretty well on them, but that was one of the very few good things about the place.
From the moment we arrived, we knew this wasn't going to be a 5 or even 4-star experience. Front desk personnel were not friendly, did not make visitors feel welcome, and were unprofessional overall. The breakfast area is very nice, but could have been a much more positive experience if food/condiments were stocked appropriately. The room/bathroom was dirty and needed maintenance. The light in the bathroom was flickering and appeared to have a short (or light was going out). This was a real nuisance when trying to get ready to go out.
Staff was wonderful! Helped me find a public park to take my child to play, and switch to a room on a different floor when another guest made the first hallway smell very bad. However, there was not fresh fruit available for breakfast.
The room was not cleaned well prior to our arrival (e.g. hair in the shower). During our 3 day stay, our room was not cleaned once. They post the breakfast as 6 am to 10 am, but in fact, there's no hot food before 7 am and the food runs out by 9:15 or so. I complained that the sign is inaccurate, and the front desk was really rude about it. (If they would post correct breakfast hours, then people could plan their morning accordingly.) The hallways smell badly, but the room smells ok. The beds are comfortable enough, and the AC worked.
Hartford Best Western was excellent. Great mattresses, best sleep, clean room & linens. Good hot water in the shower. Good size refrigerator & microwave came in handy to reheat the good free breakfast we had. Breakfast had eggs, potatoes, pancakes ( that you make yourself) sausage, good strong coffee, yogurt, & juice. The pool was fabulous open 8-20:00 outside Wi-Fi had great connection. Convenient free parking right off the interstate. Friendly, professional, caring staff. What more could you ask for!
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. 4 tires and rims STOLEN from our car. Mark Marino the person who said he was the manager was awful and couldn't care about what happened. BLACK MOLD on the ceiling of room #137, DISH TV schedule was blank the entire time, towels NEVER filled in the gym, and pancake machine only working on Saturday. STAY AWAY from this HORRIBLE HOTEL.
This hotel is very dirty. The room was not cleaned from the previous person. There was hair in the bath tub wall and old used toilet paper behind the toilet. There was feces all over the wall in the bathroom right outside they front desk. My room was not cleaned once in the 4 days I was her.
Ran out of breakfast and and room towels and smells like weed everywhere with people smoking it even right in front of lobby doors! I told the person at the desk and they said they would spray air freshener! First time at a best western and last!
Was going back home to MA from NY. Decided to stop in CT and let the kids get some rest. Be came to this Best Western location and was beyond disappointed. My kids socks were black, the tub had a yellow tint to it, there was blood stains on the curtains
I went to this hotel and it was the worst place when you walked in. It was dirty and smelled bad the girl who checked you in is very sweet but that does not make up for how bad this place is.She gave us our room and we went to go in the back door has no lock so anyone can get in random people were just walking in and out and smoking outside. I did not feel safe and when we went to our room it smelled like weed and there was a strong smell of cleaning supplies to cover it ( that did not help).we left about 10 minutes after checking in and we found out that it was a shelter for people on the second floor. I will never go here again so please do not come here!
Stay somewhere else. The hotel staff are very friendly but the building is old and run down. The room had a bad odor and the paint job was sloppy because its old. The hallway carpet is filthy, smell of weed, phone didn't work, lamp did not work, no outlet for the corner lamp, it remained unplugged. Pay a little more and stay somewhere else.
I stayed in this hotel in June this year (2022) and got terribly bitten by bed bugs, when I realized about it I found them crawling on the bed and killed some myself. I left the hotel that day and told the personnel, but I am not sure if they will really act. I came back home with a big problem and directly to wash all my clothes and spray my luggage that is still outside. I called the health department and placed my concern, but it's really, really bad. I didn't feel safe in this hotel at all! I wonder what else I can do other than put reviews everywhere.
Place where I go for business And a place where I can rest Place is not loud with running children or Yelling adult Halls don't smell of Anything but cleanliness I can walk around barefoot and Feel like I'm in Jamaica lol
Fitness center closed, pool closed, whirlpool closed. Bag breakfast. Outside doors are NOT locked so ANYONE can come into building. Not safe at all. Staff said locks are busted and they can't get replacements. Sorry, but that is not a good enough reason - go to hardware store, but outside doors should always be secure. Especially in this odd area.Holes in drapes. Staff wearing T-shirts, hanging out in lobby chatting with friends each time we went to lobby. Room was OK sized. We were told that entire second floor is for homeless, which is fine, but staff should have told us that, not another guest. Nothing securing paying guests from the others.
This is the worst hotel I have encountered and I travel extensively. Several people (at least 5) were hanging out in the lobby that appeared not to be staying at the hotel. These individuals were engaging the front desk clerk in the lobby and commenting on guests personal appearance (classy). I still gave the hotel a chance and went to my room to order dinner. The delivery driver said he left my dinner in the lobby, but when I went to the lobby the front desk person and the non-patrons said they hadn't seen anyone. That was enough for me to decide to check out. However, I was informed that was not allowed until the morning. No refund, although I didn't stay at the hotel. Avoid this place for your own peace of mind and safety. The best I can say is that the rooms are large, but as others have said the chemical, old smoke smell is strong.
Based on this hotel, I will not be staying at a Best Western anytime soon. The two biggest issues were that the room smelled VERY strongly of old cigarette smoke and/or chemicals, and that the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, with no nearby options to eat, not even a decent fast-food restaurant. Also, the overall appearance of the hotel is depressing, with a bare lobby and hallway carpets that are horribly stained. To top it off, a screen in our window fell out the second we opened the window (which we did in a vain attempt to improve the smell in the room. Only positives were that everything seemed to be safely cleaned for COVID and that the staff was pleasant.
Nothing remarkable to report about this place. Check-in was a nightmare since the front desk assigned me the "wrong room" (the room I entered had been cleaned but apparently had been reserved or something) and I had to gather up my belongings and return to the front desk to obtain a new room key. Slept well but had to find breakfast somewhere in downtown Hartford - yay, traffic - because the grab and go bags in the hotel consisted of a small, prepackaged blueberry muffin and tiny yogurt. I understand that COVID-19 has been a problem for many places but for the price of the room, I expected a little bit more food for breakfast or hey, maybe knock $20 or so off the nightly rate until you can serve a full breakfast again. Overall I was underwhelmed by the services here and am grateful that I was only checking in for one night on my way to Pennsylvania.
The folks at the Hartford Best Western took great care of us. Our company sent a convoy of trucks and linemen to assist with restoring power in advance of a big winter storm. They were very kind and helpful, if we ever get called to the Hartford area again, we will definitely be staying here. Highly recommended!
The staff was nice but our room was not up to par. Remote didn't work, low on toilet paper, no blankets or bed spread, no iron but had an ironing board, no bags in trash cans and worst of all the smoke alarm chirped all night. Lastly we had to get our room key reactivated after we got locked out.
Very nice and helpful hotel staff. Room was spacious and had a large tv and clean bathroom. The only problems I had with the room were that the microwave was super finicky - it would run for a minute and my food would still be cold and then I would put it in again and for some reason it would work. The numbers also did not run down on the microwave. Also, the walls were so thin that I could hear every word of a telephone conversation in the room next to me and the man's snoring. The bed was very comfortable though, the fridge was a plus, I liked the bathroom. My favorite part was the hot tub - perfect temperature and made my night! Overall definitely a good stay.
We flew into Hartford because we were heading to a family wedding in Poughkeepsie, New York. This was a most pleasant place to stay the night before heading to the wedding the next day. It was much less hassle than flying into NYC as did a number of people who attended the wedding, and our time did not allow us to spend a day in the City.
Nice and decent hotel to sleep in only that their pillows are too small. I am now a member of Western hotel. Keep doing what you are doing but please increase your pillow sizes. Nice staffers and nice environment.
scooted off for a sunday of open historic homes in the Boston area and stayed at this property on the return trip. very nice facility; Easy to reach and locate. Outward hotel appearance is welcoming, rooms are spacious with attractive decor and functioning amenities. Internet was VERY fast. Breakfast had many options for selection. Fitness business Centers were well laid out and easily accessible. When in the Connecticut capitol region, definitely consider this property-you will be very well satisfied.
Wasn't given the type of room I booked. Booked 2 queens, got a king with a gold out couch. Shower started well for first minute, then got cold very quickly. Would have been okay if I didn't want to actually wash up and rinse.
We needed an inexpensive place to stay while in Hartford and this was a convenient location just an exit or so from downtown. We were warmly welcomed by the front desk staff and accommodated our request to have our room and our friend's close to each other. The rooms were spacious and clean and the breakfast was very good. The front desk staff were also resourceful with their restaurant recommendations. My wife and I have had good experiences with Best Westerns before but we were truly impressed with the customer service at this location.
Was there in July .. they are providing rooms to section 8 recipients.. So you can smell skunk and see people going at it on the hoods of cars. They ran out of supplies like toilet paper as well.. Do not stay here if you have young children.
I always try to stay at a BW hotel wherever I go as they are always good quality and great value for money. Check in was easy, staff was friendly. The room was bigger than usual, it even had a couch to watch the tv from. The bed was comfy. Breakfast was usual, plenty to choose from. Great experience and would stay again.
We had issues checking in as we have a service dog the front desk lady asked us a lot of questions that were none of her concern as why we have the service dog it's for my son who is autistic to top it off the room was infested with ants as I took pictures there were at least 50 ants on night stand
Hotel was fine, clean rooms, fair pricing, resturant within walking distance. The front desk was difficult to deal with on the phone when trying to make reservations, wanted us to wait till we arrive then check in at desk at higher walk in rate since we would arrive in about 90 minutes. Had to call 800 number.
My spouse and I flew into Hartford to attend a military funeral. Flights and logistics turned out to make it a time crunch for us. We basically landed after a red eye and had to get ready immediately to go straight to the funeral. We hadn't showered yet or anything after the red eye and we decided to check into this Best Western. After finding out that check in was at 3 and the funeral started at 1, we were feeling pretty hopeless but the front desk was so, so gracious, allowing us to check in early so we could properly prepare for the service. They really came through in a tough moment on a very tough day for us! We are so grateful! Part of paying our respects was to show up clean and respectable, so this was invaluable. The hotel is dated, yes, but clean and has friendly staff. Breakfast was sufficient and the water pressure in the shower was ON POINT. My room smelled clean and was well kept. Thank you staff for being there for a combat veteran and his family when they needed it the most!
I liked this place. We stayed here for a concert, and ubered back and fourth. Price was very reasonable. It includes an outdoor pool, and indoor hot tub. Sadly the hot tub was down at the time of our stay. You can tell this is an older property, but it's been renovated and it's in nice shape. The location is in a bit of an industrial zone around the old airport just outside of Hartford, so don't expect views. The breakfast is really good, and the woman keeping it stocked did a really great job. I truly hate when certain chains don't restock breakfast items. This Best Western had plentiful food, including eggs, sausage, bacon and home fries in the morning. They have all thes standard bready stuff, and a pancake machine. Plus yogurts, eggs, coffee and juice. No skimping here. They no longer have a shuttle, and that's a bit sad however Uber gets you everywhere. We first ubered to Bear's smokehouse for dinner before our show. That was ok, but it was Kansas City style wet BBQ with sauces. I'm a texas dry rub guy. Good for Hartford though. On the way back from our show at xfinity theater, we walked north a few blocks to mcdonalds and caught an uber there back to best western. That way we avoid the traffic and the uber can take the highway. So consider that if you see a show in Hartford and use Uber to this hotel. Overall I would most definitely stay here again. It was a great experience. Thanks Best Western!
The rooms were very humid and moist. Dirty too. I had two rooms: one has a piece of clothing left on the floor; the bed skirt in the other room has suspsicious spots on them. There's no ventilation in the bathroom so expect wet floors in there ALL the time If you plan to take a shower. The rooms smell musty too. The smell is really strong. The doors expanded because of the moisture. The front desk is very friendly except for one lady who was just grumpy. Do not stay here.
The hotel is clean with ok looking rooms and lobby. The bed was comfortable, but the bathroom needed some fixing (e.g. little holes in the wall). The location isn't very nice but it is practical if you intend on using your car since it is right next to the highway.
Housekeeping did not turn into lost and found shoes l left behind. We called three times explaining right where the shoes were left to no avail. We gave them plenty of time to check in the room and with housekeeping.
Nancy at front desk went out of her way to make sure I had a room I liked. She said she wants me to be happy.Great customer service.Nice lobby.Nice pool.Very nice room with refrigerator.Close to highway.Like the way it looks homey even from outside. Not more than 2 story one side and 3 story other side.
I booked this trip through Booking.com (thankfully, booking.com was able to assist me with my issue). I only booked it because there was an offered free shuttle service and this was going to provide me the cheapest way to get to and from a concert at the local pavilion. The theater I had planned to go to was not actually as close as it was to many other hotels but I imagined this would be cheaper than an Uber. It turns out that this service was no longer provide and when I approached the customer service to request it I was told that they no longer provided it AND that I was responsible for checking the BW website and not "trusting" a third party booking agency. I was incredibly reasonable and asked what other compensation they could provide me considering the shuttle was the only reason I booked with them in the first place. After having the customer service rep at the front desk make several trips to a random back room to "speak with her manager" and her consistently telling me that it was my fault, I asked to speak to the manager. I was told "she was busy". There was clearly never a manager there that was a woman at that time. A man came up to my room and knocked on our door, which I thought was sort of unprofessional. He then told me I could cancel my reservation for that night with no charge. I found another hotel and again went to confirm this with the staff at the front desk- she handed me a sticky note and told me they would email me and then walked off. Nobody emailed me anything. In fact, after booking this hotel I was then thrown around the ringer and had to call booking.com (per the advice of the guy at the front desk) to request the did not charge me. The guy told me that they had asked booking.com to remove the shuttle service multiple times- booking.com told me that was a lie. Then, booking.com called and spoke to the hotel on my behalf. It took the agent several hours to even get the "manager" to reply claiming they would not charge me for the night (despite what this other guy had told me) and they refused to compensate me. Eventually, booking.com had told me that they were unreasonable and awful to them (so it was not just me) and booking.com provided me a credit of 25 dollars toward my transportation. I will never stay in a BW again due to this one experience. I was treated very poorly. I understand mistakes happen but it is all in the way it is dealt with. This was dealt with in the worst possible way- they blamed me- the customer.
The entire hotel was very clean. Room was very clean. Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice size room. Very comfortable bed. The bath towels actually fit around my body. The pool and hot tub were very nice. I highly recommend staying here.
We stayed here recently while visiting the Hartford area and was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It's inevitable that some folks will have a negative experience of some type at one point or another. But our stay was more than we expected. Sure, the hotel is in a industrial-type area across the street from a small airport. But we had no issues whatsoever. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. Also, the overall appearance of the hotel was clean with no issues. Also, at night the hotel was surprisingly quiet. This considering the fact that we had youth softball and baseball teams there for tournaments. I would recommend staying here and would stay here again if I was in the area.
My wife and I decided to stay here on our trip through New England and this was a great place to stay. We got a great room at a fair price. The room itself was clean and comfortable. The staff members were all friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again
I have been here a lot these past 7 months and it has Always been a Great Experience. Service is good and Customer is the Best! Everything that I am looking for is within 10 to 15 mins from the hotel.
Very helpful, got our room very early. Good parking and in a safe area by a airport. Breakfast was nice and very clean dining area. Pool was nice being outside. Pool towels at the pool. Room was nice and it was clean.
My boyfriend and I checked in on Friday and extended our stay Sunday morning to check out on Monday morning. Upon arriving back at the hotel Sunday night, all of our stuff was gone from the room. Come to find out, the front desk told the cleaning crew it was a checkout and not an overnight. I lost a lot of stuff due to this and the hotel refuses to talk to me since my boyfriend was the one registered to the room. Come to also find out, the hotel then told my boyfriend they believe I was on drugs and alcohol since I was so distraught over my things being gone. Now, how does a hotel lose a pair of Michael kors sunglasses, $100 foundation, almost $100 primer and an iPhone charger? Sounds to me like the cleaning people took it because I know someone wouldn't just throw those things out.
I really regret not listening to all the negative reviews but they are 100% accurate. Musty feeling and smell throughout. Old facilities. Worst part: our sheets and blanket reeked of urine! Absolutely disgusting! We weren't offered another room. Couldn't sleep feeling how disgusting this place is.
The stay started off bad when I went to the website to see what the rooms offered and they stated that there was a Keurig coffee maker in every room. So after I purchased coffee for that style maker the room does not have it. I called the front desk to inquire why and I was given the excuse that they made a change and the website had not yet been updated. I asked how long ago this change was made and the response was over a year ago. So it is clear they have no intentions of updating the site. Later in my stay, I am in my room in the evening time I hear my door start to open. Come to find out the front desk issued a total stranger a key to my room. I again called the front desk to find out what is going on and they said that "their system did not show anyone in my room". I was on day two of a six-day stay. I do not recommend this place to anyone. They clearly false advertise on their web page. The staff is completely incompetent not to mention the wifi is garbage and the rooms are run down and need to be renovated.
Staff was great, not worth 160 a night. Shower leaked from not having proper curtain. Internet was very fast. It was hard to sleep first night, but then was good after that. Whirlpool was nice. I wish breakfast was bigger.
We stayed here for two nights. Our room was near the lobby and I was concerned i wouldn't be able to sleep as noise could be heard through the door. BUT we kept our AC on and that did the trick. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It was a very busy hotel so the breakfast area was quite crowded in the morning. There were fresh berries with the other items. The staff was friendly. The only downer was the location. . . if you're just getting off the highway, it's fine, but we picked it not knowing where it was. . you're sort of in a industrial-feeling area.
Do not stay here! We checked in, were given a room filled with trash, given another room, walked into a floor filled with marijuana smoke, the room was dirty and smelled. We checked out within 15 minutes of checking in!!!
I stayed here from 7/8/19 - 7/12/19, along with 12 other families, for a nearby softball tournament. While the manager was very accommodating, even acknowledging "what we've been through" during our checkout process, I can't stress strongly enough that you should NOT stay at the Best Western Hartford Hotel & Suites. The Section 8 housing situation must be fairly recent because we checked reviews prior to our stay and saw nothing negative. However, during our 4 night stay, our 12 year old girls and their siblings were exposed to a constant cloud of marijuana smoke, shirtless men and their friends propping open side doors and hanging out in the parking lot, smoking in stairwells, and other residents roaming the halls obviously drugged out of their minds. On the day we checked out, the Red Cross was set up in the meeting room to offer medical care to the residents, indicating that Section 8 housing is here to stay. Aside from all of that, the hotel completely ran out of toilet paper at one point, and the hot water was intermittent throughout our stay. The cleaning staff didn't do a great job (we found a chicken wing bone under our bed that wasn't ours!), and was very stingy with towels (we only got 3 for our room which slept 4 people) and never replenished our shampoo or soap. The pool was cloudy and the hallways were not clean - the same pile of potato chip crumbs sat outside our neighbor's door all week. My first floor windows were both unlocked, and when I tried to lock them one came off the track, so I think it must've been broken into at one point. Bottom line - DO NOT STAY HERE!
Good location. Close to Hartford attractions. At check in, little information about restaurants in area. House keeping cleaned bathroom but not sleeping area. A piece of food was left from previous customer. When reported all that was said was I am sorry. Being Western holder, I felt this was unacceptable. Good breakfast
Pros: Check in/out was easy and staff were nice throughout. Room was clean. Pool/spa was nice. Breakfast was decent (with exception of pancake maker which was too slow, messy and inconsistent). Cons: Beds were awful. Fan is needed in bathroom desperately as so much condensation in bathroom you can't dress in there even the next day and the toilet had condensation still on it the next morning after evening showers.
My sister and I stayed here for multiple nights because of a family emergency. I can't say enough good things about the staff expecially Juan! He checked us in and could not have been kinder or more compassionate as he listened to our horrible story! Joshua and Lashonda were very nice too. Having said that, our rooms were not cleaned several times and we weren't in the rooms all day with the Do Not Disturb sign up. I had a noisy neighbor and there was a stain on the curtain that I told management about.
The air conditioner didn't work in the first room we were assigned – after we had unpacked and settled in. We packed everything back up and moved to another room. It was more spacious, however, the toilet needed to be flushed twice nearly always so it needs maintenance too. The shower valve should be replaced as the temperature kept changing. The sink faucet – cold – only turns off if in one precise position in the center - not turned off toward the back like the hot does. The refrigerator temperature was too cold and couldn't be adjusted, so my food became frozen. Housekeeping skipped our room altogether one day and when I called the front desk to inquire, they said they'd call housekeeping and call me right back. I never got a call. I called again ½ hour later and told them to just bring me towels – I wanted to shower and enjoy my room. The wifi kept dropping out. The furniture was comfortable; the breakfast offerings were good, the coffee was good too. This facility is below the level of most Best Westerns and is in need of some maintenance.
Walls are paper thin . If you fon't need much sleep then you won't mind constant door slamming . Partying in rooms shouting, talking loud until 4.45am . I was dying to get up at 6am and go hammer on the doors of the culprits . But honestly ,I was just too tired . Place reeks of weed . You get up in the morning and the whole floor smells so strong of it you could get high . Told the receptionist ,doubt if they're bothered . It's a shame Best Western used to have a good reputation way back when .Breakfast standard , waffle machine wouldn't work so few upset people . Good location easy on and off 91 . Won't stay there again though
Comfortable beds, OK breakfast, very nice staff! The walls are super thin, apparently, as I could clearly hear the guests in the next room, even after turning the HVAC fan to "constant on". I switched rooms and the same thing happened. The front desk had no problem with switching my room (as if it's not uncommon).
Very very clean hotel one of the nicer ones I've stayed out I was very surprised since it was by the airport. Huge heated outdoor pool indoor whirl pool. Very friendly staff excellent breakfast. I would definitely stay there again and probably will in the near future.
We stayed one night here. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The hotel staff was awesome! Breakfast was really good, and the hot tub was perfect. Easy to to get to, close to downtown. Highly recommended
No complaints. We went to see a wwe show and check in was easy, the room was nice, we had plenty of space, plenty of towels. There was also several features we didn't use like the hot tub, fitness center, etc
this hotel was very clean and updated. the staff was kind and friendly and very helpful. We also took advantage of the shuttle service to get to our concert, sadly it was only one way as the shuttle service stopped at 6:30 but the front desk help me set up a cab for the ride back.
Very nice clean rooms. Free breakfast was pretty good. The associates that work there are all extremely professional and very friendly! Dollar for dollar this is a nice place to stay. A bonus was the restaurant next door!!! Its called USS Chowder Pot, the hotel highly recommended it as they should have!!
Very good value for the money. Check in was efficient - nice lobby area. Very clean. Staff was very nice and attentive. Breakfast was OK....nothing fancy, but had the basics. Could have been a bit nicer.
The Best Western Hartford Hotel & Suites has clearly seen better days. In general, the hotel and the rooms feel very outdated. From the 70s carpet to the 70s style mirrored closet sliding doors. Bathrooms are very small and in my case, they couldn't find the right color to match the wall so touch up looks "interesting". In general, the whole place is saturated by the smell of OxyClean. Highlight of the free breakfast is the broken pancake maker.
We were here for the weekend of the Ninja World Championship. Nancy at the front desk was exceptional whenever we needed questions answered or ideas on local food/activities. Breakfast changed slightly each day so it made it seem less like hotel same ol' same ol'. The shuttle drivers were very polite and even rooted us on during our competition. Thanks BW for a great stay!
No cameras so when the police came it was nothing they could do, how can a hotel not have cameras that doesn't make any sense. Very dangerous location I would never recommend this place. If your reading this stay far away
It was fantastic! I would stay here again when I come back to Hartford, Connecticut!! The staff was amazing! The rooms were clean! Breakfast was good every morning. For an affordable hotel, I truly have no complaints!
This is an older facility that could use some significant sprucing up - the hallways are really depressing. They appeared to be working on one of the two elevators as it was blocked off by a piece of plywood. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was passable here. Nothing special except the OJ which was!! They had omelets of some type but they had a lot of fatty meat pieces in them.
I'm going to be honest -- I was a little hesitant at first about all the online reviews suggesting this hotel (in Hartford!) was worth almost 5 stars across various rating sites ... but I'm definitely giving it 5 stars! The staff were fantastic -- friendly, with big welcoming smiles. I felt genuinely cared for as a guest both upon check-in and again at check-out (in my experience this certainly doesn't happen at all chain hotels). I also received a free upgrade (to an Executive suite -- which was almost bigger than my apartment!) upon arrival -- completely unexpected and totally made my stay. On top of that, the fitness center is AMAZING (new equipment, big and airy) and the breakfast without question was the best I have ever had at a BW or similar chain hotel. Seriously mind-blowing the huge array on offer! I also slept incredibly well -- the quiet is very quiet. Oh, and the shower? The best I have perhaps ever had in my ENTIRE life. Wow. I could have stayed in there for hours! The only issue I had with my entire stay was that the cold tap in my bathroom sink would not turn off properly, and it kept flooding the bench area. Everything else was fantastic. I was in the area for a meeting at a local school, and I actually live in CT, so I don't know if I'll be staying in the area again, but if I do ... I will 100% stay here.
We very much enjoyed our stay at Best Western in Hartford. Easy access to parkways and short drive to downtown. Good breakfast and amenities. Would recommend this hotel to those that are looking for a comfortable hotel in Hartford.
Easy on, easy off rt 91. Very clean and friendly hotel. If you are heading in to see a show at the Webster Theater, perfect place to stay. 10 minutes out. Everything I needed was available right away... a roll away bed, extra blankets... did not have to wait long at all for the items. Justin at the front desk was very friendly and personable.
Returning to home in NH, from a short family visit in NY, we decided to overnight, and reduce driving stress by staying in Hartford. We found a deal in a generic travel magazine given out freely at rest stops, and found a low cash deal, with breakfast, and spent the night in Hartford, CT. Nothing could have been better... The price was so reasonable (under 80.00); the room (a lovly king sized bed and clean an wonderful accoutrements); an uncconditionally caring and competent staff; and a fantastic meal the next mornig. Wow!!! We are so grateful for the wonderful quality and ambiance, and are looking forward to our return visit! Mike and Reine, Holderness, NH.
We stayed at Best Western hotel, because we were meeting our son for the first time in 16 months. He was visiting Connecticut for a job work site meeting. The hotel was very receptive toour needs. Recommend this hotel for it's customer service.
This is a nice hotel to stay for a few days or only one night. The front desk folks were friendly and accommodating. They were experiencing technical issues with their computer system when I checked in, but did not delay my check in. They were quick to find a work around and were very nice. I had to call when my GPS returned me to downtown twice, but the desk clerk got me right to the hotel after a quick call. The sea food restaurant next door is affordable and very good.
Hotel is clean and the staff is friendly. Downside was the dirty clothing the check in employees had, that made for a bad first impression. Room and beds were as they should be spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was OK with the downside that the toilet is for small and I mean small children. The breakfast is average at best, awful fried eggs, ok sausages however, there were no potatoes offered. Coffee was good.
We stayed at this best western during a business trip and I was extremely happy. The price was very good, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff was super friendly. I would absolutely stay here again.
Staff needs training - gives out inaccurate responses or must rely on Asst. manager to micromanage. Asst. managers both blame the customer and rudeness is way beyond the limit. Nice room, good value but...
Reasonable price hotel situated right off 91N in an industrial area. Outside parking lot needs more lighting. Staff was friendly and helpful. We only stayed overnight but the amenities for the price you can't beat. Indoor swimming pool, hot tub and exercise room.!
We stopped here for one night last month as part of a 10-day Greyhound Bus tour of the NE states. Initially we were disappointed at the Hotel's location, being a taxi ride from the Bus Station and too far to practically walk when you're tired and lumbered with bags. It's also on a pretty plain and in parts rundown industrial estate. But, that's the only bad aspect. From checking in speedily thanks to the very pleasant Reception staff, through to entering our larger than expected room, then I'd have to say we were pleased that we'd booked here. Our room was very well appointed with all mod cons, and although the advertised (and eagerly awaited) swimming pool was closed "for the season", we nonetheless had a comfortable stay. There was an internal hot tub which cured our Greyhound numb bum syndrome, and, on the recommendation of the Reception lady, we dined just across the car park at the excellent Rib and Seafood diner, which was lucky because that's just about your only dining option in the evening. For anyone wishing to venture into the town then a taxi would get you there in 5 minutes or so, but we were just resting up and so didn't go far. Breakfast was fine, you just get used to the US trend of having plates, cups, cutlery and anything else you need, as throwaway plastic. Seems that they didn't watch Blue Planet in these parts! That said, the food was fine. All things considered, in a country where (to us, at least) hotel standards seemed rather behind European standards, and light years behind Asian standards, but the cost of a comfortable hotel room now far outstrips an average UK purse, then this was a pleasant find and well done to the friendly staff.
I actually was a little surprised as to how comfortable our stay was at the BW in Hartford. It was very clean, with a friendly & helpful staff and a fine room. I wanted a room that was quiet and they accommodated that.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The breakfast was a typical continental fare with some hot items. It was very clean and conveniently located, less than 30 minutes from BDL with HWY entrance close by and about 20 minutes to West Hartford, which were we had to attend to some business.
Good reasonable hotel. The check in staff were friendly and efficient. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was nice but nothing to write home about. The breakfast staff were nice. There is an excellent seafood restaurant that was recommend by the front desk,The Chowder Pot. It's right next door
Truck broke down selected this hotel since near the shop.. extremely impressed with stay.. business computers need updating overall was a good stay friendly attentive staff if problem arises they get right on it to fix ...
My children and I stayed at this location and were accused/charged for three pillows that they claim we took and did not. I contacted the manager when I saw the $200 fee on my credit card - I was shocked! I have never had this happen - wondering if this hotel makes these false claims to increase their revenue.
We were disappointed at how we were treated at this hotel. Although the bed was very comfortable the room had a lingering odour, the bathroom and fittings were very tired and in need of refurbishment. On checkout staff insinuated we had been smoking in the room (2 of us, non-smokers!) and that would be cause for loss of the cash hold ($200) we had to pay on top of the room fee already paid at check in. This was ultimately put right by the hotel manager and we left nearly an hour late for our onward journey. Not the way to treat overseas visitors who had not had any previous problems in 21 weeks of travel in the USA/Canada.
Hotel was clean and rooms were roomy. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was average. Was here for hockey showcase. One complaint was the washer and dryer, there was only one set and several times the wait was very long. Hotel was sometmes far for other resturants. Area was more commercial.
Nice staff. But don't ever pay cash with a hold on your card. They'll charge you twice. Breakfast wasn't the greatest either. Not really any options. Also if you're a smoker there are no options for you. Not even outside by the pool.
Very happy we picked thius BW. Easy to get to efficient front desk staff, nice, clean, fairlylarge room. Love that breakfast was included. great showerhead. Nice seafood restaurant almost next door where we could walk to for dinner after arriving at dinnertime at hotel. we definitely staythere again. very good value.
I always stay at best western people are always friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and they always got coffee, pools and breakfast. I wouldn't stay anywhere else. I been to several best westerns in different states always treated good
we had a very early flight out Hartford so we stayed here because of that glad we did. Nice Hotel and very nice staff once again these are the reasons I stay at Best Western. No problems no issues nice room we had a early flight so we missed breakfast
Executive suite large but no privacy. Glass partition separated living and bed rooms. There were brackets for curtains but none up. We booked this suite for the privacy. We had a 13 yo grandson with us. Glass dirty, carpets dirty and footrest dirty. Not staying here again
Nice pool - pool towels thin and poor quality.l Toilet in room clogged easily. Had to have it fixed when we were there. Bathroom floor dirty. Manager annoyed when I called her about the toilet. Would love to have hot oatmeal at breakfast. 2/4 staff were super friendly and helpful. The other 2 were ill-trained and defensive (manager).
This trip happens every year. It's location is quiet and the staff are very friendly and most important they are always helpful. The rate is reasonable and it is barely a 5 minute drive to the event we attend. The facility is very clean.
The hotel is located near the interstate and there are some restaurants close by. The Chowder Pot IV is just across the street and there is a McDonald's just down the street. The staff was very friendly, although I couldn't get a quieter room than I desired since we checked in late and the hotel was full. They had a very big selection of food for the complimentary breakfast.
Nice Best Western hotel on the east side of Hartford ....quick access to interstates and easy to travel in any direction and be there quickly...hotel was very well maintained and pleasant....one elevator having maintenance was only thing not working...Opened pool early to help please guests on a hot day - just before Memorial Day...breakfast was nice and internet worked well....did not have time to really use business center or fitness area (open 24 hrs) ...Very pleasant stay - in safer area....also adjacent to the smaller airport in town.
For this level of lodging (2 1/2 star), all my expections were fully met. Nice clean room, friendly staff, high quality breakfast, convenient access to Hartford, great casual restaurant (U.S.S. Chowder Pot IV) just a few steps away.
Exterior, lobby, and breakfast were fine. Perhaps it was just our room that had a problem, but this room had cleanliness issues. The bathroom had a persistent overpowering smell of urine, perhaps from the dirty floor and grout. The sink stopper didn't work. Towel service was an issue.
I like the title of another review that called this the "Just OK Western" instead of the Best Western. That's exactly how I felt. The "meh" feeling started at check-in as we had to wait at the desk while the only employee finished a phone call without so much as a nod, or a hello or a whispered "I'll be right with you." The room was fine but mattresses and pillows were both too soft - as was the water pressure in the shower. We'll likely try something else on our next trip in this direction.
Just spent a night in a Junior Suite on a road trip down south. I was expecting quite a bit more from this hotel to be honest. Yes, the staff were lovely and the bed comfy, and the room was clean enough. However, leaky taps and poor ventilation created a very wet bathroom. The advertised guest laundry was out of order. Hotel was full, and there was quite a lot of noise from the halls. Breakfast was just adequate, not what I have experienced with similar hotels. Tonight we are in a Holiday Inn Express. Much better in every way, and less expensive to boot. No more Best Westerns for these travellers.
I was over billed. The staff was helpful and identified an inaccurate charge on an old card. The desk person tried to correct it and gave me a receipt to prove it. However the charge to my card Was over by $220. Now I'm left to resolve that. I looked at previous reviews and saw one where they were double charged. I assumed it was a fluke. I was wrong! I'm not sure if the is anything fraudulent occurring but unless you want to untangle the charges, find a different place to stay!
Highly recommended, great property well kept. Good attention to detail. Shower head in the junior suite is amazing. Pillows can be better, but I say this about every hotel, memory foam pillows. Staff is very knowledgeable.
Customer service was Great!! Check in lady was Outstanding!! The beds were very clean & soooo comfortable, & this comes from a person who is use to sleeping on a very expensive sleep number bed!! The bathroom looked very nice & the curved curtain rod, in the shower, definately makes the shower comfortable!! Tv was Great & very large. Room was very clean & appealing. Parking was very easy & Free!! Free breakfast consisted of sausage, egg, juice, all bread products including peanut butter, jams, cream cheese, yogurt, fruit cup, cereals, & pancakes with all the fixings. Price for the hotels was very reasonable!! .....So why didn't I give it 5 stars? The shade on the window had a lot of foreign objects on it that really needs attention, no safe in the room closet & although the water pressure was very high ( & normally I love that) but, taking a shower was Horrible!!!! The water would be how I set it, then it would turn Freezing Cold then Extremely Boiling Hot!!! This would repeat every 15 seconds so getting in & out of the shower was required frequently!! This also happened the night before, when my husband took a shower, but I just thought that it must be a fluke!! I didn't report the issue to the hotel, due to having to hurry when leaving (because my shower took sooo long, I was running late), but I will be emailing them of that problem. Because of these two fixable things, I rate this hotel a 4 out of 5 stars!!
Inefficiency, multiple problems, staff not responsive, and staff not always truthful when attempts to rectify problems are made, are all features of this facility. Breakfast area was unsatisfactory with staff clogging the area socially and some of the equipment being non-functional as well as cleaning supplies left in the area of the breakfast food.
Booked a one night stay for this hotel. Front staff were very friendly and check in was quick. Lobby was nicely decorated for the holidays and there is comfortable seating in front of the fireplace with a big TV. There is coffee, hot water and hot cocoa available at all times in the lobby. The room was nicely decorated. Bed was very comfortable. The room and bathroom were clean. Breakfast was okay, the usual bagels, different kinds of bread for toasting, assorted cereals, muffins, fruit, yogurt, make your own pancakes, fried eggs (which were like little round coasters) and breakfast sausage. Coffee was very good, also had juices available. The hotel is a little off the well traveled path but close enough to drive to other shops and town. We went for the Holiday Light show at Goodwin Park Golf Course which was a short few minutes drive. I don;t know what else was really close by since we only stayed 1 night. There is a terrific seafood restaurant across the hotel parking lot called the Chowder Pot, excellent food. I would recommend this hotel and would stay again.
We had a 50th wedding family ann and it was nice that all the family stayed there because the price was good One of the best things was check out at 11. free wifi and the breakfast was hot. The bed was nice and comfy and lots of space. didn't feel confined.
The hotel was nice and clean. The parking was good. Close by the clubs and a gas station. The breakfast was good and hot. The only thing was there was no ice machine on the third floor. Had to go down to the second.
The staff was great ! Great conversations on things to do and always a follow up on our day trip .... it was like family! Breakfast was hot and provided many options. We used their shuttle service almost daily to go downtown. Great restaurant next door - USS Clampot
Clean comfortable rooms, hot breakfast with eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, etc.... Great customer service! Outdoor pool and indoor whirlpool, we didn't use but nice for summertime.... Will stay again
A little off the beaten path, and not exactly luxe, but a great little business hotel with a nice hot breakfast included. Good spacious rooms, clean, good beds and linens, and very accommodating and friendly staff. Really, what more can one ask for business travel?
The site is close to downtown and there's a freeway entrance close by, so it's very convenient. The room was comfortable and the Wi-Fi decent, and they have a connection for cable internet if you prefer to use that. Worth the money when in Hartford.
The bill was low, and the room was clean, quiet and comfortable. The restaurant next door is amazing and the interstate is easily accessible. The Best Western in Hartford had everything I could ask for while traveling for business. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Though the room was adequate and the bed was comfortable, the room had an odor and there was so much noise from adult kids running up and down the halls late at night, that I am not sure average is an accurate rating. The noise going on in the hall was very concerning (third floor). Not only did it keep my daughter awake, we were concerned about our car and what kind of neighborhood we were booked into. Someone had even left their suitcase out in the hall which is a big security concern. The breakfast was okay, not great. Aside from this, I had issues with my bill and called the hotel after returning home only to be rudely spoken to by the person (female) at the front desk. She spoke too fast, too quietly and mumbled. When I asked her to slow down and speak up, she ran through the dialog again in the exactly the same manner. I have stayed in many hotels in the past 3 mos. Several were Best Western and I have never had so many problems. It was very disappointing.
Told we had reserved last two available rooms - one with a king bed and one with with 2 queen beds. We told reservations we would arrive after 8pm and were told we had guaranteed reservations. However when we arrived we were told said rooms were not available and we were, instead, upgraded to two junior suites with a single queen in one and a single king in the other. Each had a pull out bed also. Both were unsatisfactory solutions but at that time of night it was too late to seek other arrangements. We felt sorry for the young lady left at the desk to deal with this problem and pass on what she had been instructed to do. Even more interesting was the fact that others who had checked in at the same time also came back to the desk to find out why they had not received their requested reserved rooms. Being “upgraded” or given a small discount does not always make a satisfied customer.
Hotel is outside the city, rural and quiet,...bonus next door is a very good steak seafood rest. the small airport is not commerccial, has a little restaurant and does not create noise or fumes, there is also convenient gas and macdonalds with easy access to I-84/ 91/95
My mother and I were staying in the area because my father was in the hospital. We stayed one night thinking that he would be coming home, but did not. The hotel staff was vey accomidating in gettingus into another room right away sence we had already checked out that morning. They immediately offered us a special rate due to having a family member in the hospital. We chose this hotel because of TripAdvisor!! Much Thanks!!!
I ran a class at this facility all day and then stayed over to attend a meeting elsewhere the next day. The room for the class was set up exactly as I requested. The price for my night stay was excellent. The staff were eager to help and do whatever they could to make me more comfortable, as quickly as possible. The bed was very comfortable and breakfast and wifi were included in the cost of the room. This is not a high end hotel but is a very good value and is comfortable and clean.
I was booked here on business. Close and convenient to airport, and also to other conveniences such as places to eat, and gas stations. My room was clean and comfortable. The only reason I didn't 5 star the place was because they have Direct TV, and the reception kept going in and out, and some programs/stations just were not coming in at all. I didn't ask for a new room to see if it was just my TV or the entire hotel. Other than that, all was fine, and really convenient for me to get to and fro the airport.
This is not a "destination hotel" but for a highway stop, it offers everything you could ask for: clean, comfortable rooms, high speed internet, and a great seafood restaurant right next door. The breakfast was excellent with good variety and the staff most helpful. I did not use the gym but it looked good. I would recommend this hotel and will definitely be making it a regular stop over when passing through Connecticut.
loved the staff, very helpful. great breakfest, desent beds, pool and hottub was devine this time of year, housekeeping were on point with yhere service, would stay here again and again, Jenny, Sammy, Kelly, Alex
Very friendly staff! Loved the breakfast and variety of hot and cold food. Room was clean and all the appliances worked perfectly. We choose this place since it was easy access to the highway and had the appliances in the room. Would highly recommend and return again
I will never stay at this hotel again. If BW cared as much about taking care of customers as it did presenting long surveys to assess customer satisfaction, my experience may've been better. Had problems with almost everything during my stay from internet, to toilet, to shower cleanliness, poor maid service, dirty sheets that were not replaced, nor was bed made, taxi reservations promised but not made, etc.
The hotel and room were clean. The breakfast was good, good selection. The reason for a 3 star review is because some of the staff were not as friendly and accommodating as I would expect. I had quite a few problems with my key card working which was really frustrating, after 6 trips to front desk and back upstairs trying to get it resolved I was very annoyed that they didn't have a maintenance person who could fix the issue. However, Kevin the day manager was really great. The night employees were not as attentive and caring. Check out took 10 minutes because no one was at the desk and we needed to leave to catch a flight. If the customer service was better I would give the hotel a 4 star.
The room was good. The pool and hot tub were nice. The breakfast was as good as you would expect. Used the business area and it was fine. I am going to have to type a bit here as I don't really have much more to say.
The overall atmosphere was nice. The bed was comfortable and the room and bathroom were clean. Other than the pancakes, breakfast was typical eggs, sausage, cereal, breads, and pastries. The pancakes were in a make-your-own machine. Ours turned out not totally brown, but we noticed others that looked more typical. We think that the machine needed to be warmed up. Other than that, the stay was uneventful.
Overall enjoyed my stay. It was above average. Room was neat and hotel was quiet and convient to everything. Accommodated my family pretty well. it had a modern appearance. I would stay hear again. Breakfast was decent.
Very nice people and very clean hotel. Close to the ice rinks and that is what we were there for. Hockey. The employees were very very helpful and gave us recommendations of things to do and nice restaurants. Great restaurant right next door. Great Prime rib dinner and great fish selections. I would go there again next time we have a hockey tournament .
Rooms separated by internal door which has poor noise insulation. Air conditioner set up that it blows air in the face when you on the bed. You hear people check in and out if your room next to reception area. Also you hear people walking in the hall way. The location is - industrial area - not my favorite for leisure staying.
I stayed for one night at the Best Western, Hartford near I-91 and Brainard airport. The room was fine, beds very comfy and the staff very nice. Adequate breakfast with plenty of options. No complaints there! WiFi also adequate and no issues connecting. How to make it an Excellent? Here are suggestions: Put USB charging options in the rooms. Most updated hotels have the usb ports in the lamp consoles. Double check the rooms after cleaning - I found a spoon right next to the bed on the floor. Offer a microwave in the breakfast room. Oatmeal packets are provided, but no way to warm them up other than using hot water. The apples in the lobby are a nice idea, but they were pitted and looked old. Maybe cookies instead? That's it... a good place to stay, so don't hesitate.
We could not have been more disappointed. We didn't expect much because of the price point, but we expected the rooms to be clean, and they were not. One of the two rooms had an overwhelming cigarette odor -- and while that was the fault of inconsiderate prior guests, clearly the hotel had done nothing to try to clean it up prior to our arrival. When we complained, we were offered $10 off the room rate on that room, which was basically an insult.
Our room was not ready at check in time. It was probably because the room smelt like smoke. When we were able to go to our room I immediately spoke to the front desk and they said they would refresh it for us which meant spraying air freshener. I was told there were no other rooms available.
Anyone who reads my reviews know I NEVER give an excellent rating, but this one qualifies. Great room, wonderful staff, surprisingly quiet considering it is across from the airport and backs up to the interstate. Would have liked a little bigger bathroom (I know this is one of my standard gripes), but nothing actually wrong with it.
The front desk service was excellent, very attentive/ The room was clean and in great conditions. Next to groceries stores and near the Uconn Storrs campus; as a student is a plce very convenient to stay.
People smoking marijuana in the pool area and drinking alcohol and I reported and the lady was too scare to say anything and no towel around and children playing in the hot tub without supervision it suck and everyone can sneak in the pool
This is a busy airport hotel, so I understand things might not be perfect late at night with short staffing---Monday night stay. We were on a combo business/family trip. We checked in around midnight and the front desk was busy and many guests were checking in and others were going in and out of the front door to smoke. So, after wading in through a cloud of smoke with our half awake children, we reached our floor and hallway, which also had a definate air of being recently smoked in --- to open our door to experience the musty, warm environment of our room. The air conditioning was off, and after turning it on and waiting for 20 minutes, it was apparent that it wasn't going to cool the room matter how low the temperature was set. But it was loud, so we know it was running; "auto" being the only air conditioning setting allowed that cooled, kicked on with a gurgle for each 15 minute cooling cycle. Next we attempted to set up the pull out sofa and found one wrinkled sheet and a blanket with cigarette burns in the closet. There were no pilllows for the pull out either. We called the front desk and they said that they would try to send linens up but they doubted they had anything. They did manage to find pillows and a sheet but, we had to go back down to pick it up after the front desk called to say they were unable to leave the desk to deliver them. Yeah. Glad they found some. The king size bed was comfortable but I was short of "icked" out when I realized the only a single see through sheet was between me and the matress. No pad or double sheets on the bottom of the bed. Since it was late I felt myself stuck. Of course I forgot to pack my hotel sleep sack and so had to hope I was exhausted enough just roll with it. Although the bathroom needs a little bit of touch up maintenance, I can tell it was clean because I could smell the bleach used to clean the room. I was just relieved to find it clean and fully stocked with towels and blankets. Overall, I felt that the room had been cleaned and deodorized to remove some previous problem and was glad I couldn't be more specific; except the overpowering smell of chemical cleaners in certain parts of the room and the windows which had been left open upon our arrival, as clues. At night the neighborhood seems a bit dicey, and I would not feel comfortable staying at this hotel with the clientele I passed in the hallways alone. Who hangs around in a corner of a hotel hallway? Overall, I was left feeling uncomfortable and and inconvenienced, wishing I had just decided to stay downtown rather than thinking the airport location would be more convenient. Perhaps because we arrived so late our experience was not as pleasant but we will be changing hotels tommorrow night and will pass on this later on the week when we finish our business trip and in the future.
This is such a nice hotel to spend a overnight stop. It has plenty of parking. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. There are multiple tv channels to watch. The bathroom is well equipped. The breakfast is hot and tasty sausages eggs juice pancakes yogurt and fruit. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
We stayed in this Best Western for one night when visiting friends in CT and are glad we selected this hotel. The staff at check-in and check-out were polite and friendly. The room was comfortable and clean. There is an excellent seafood restaurant right next door.
Nice hotel, good beds average breakfast. Front desk careless. After an 8 hour trip the last thing you want to deal with is unactivated room keys after you go to a third floor. Check out not even a Thank you for your stay and a How was your stay? I used to run a Best Western Plus and this attitude is not customary of the Brand.
The hotel was very clean. The room was very comfortable. Service was very good and staff were very cooperative and helpful. I recommend this hotel for its location and price also. We feel very comfortable during our stay as we found every thing we need.
Easy access to the hotel and quick ride to/from the airport. Very clean, modern decor and appearance for a last minute stay hotel. Located near malls, stores and restaurants. The room was very clean even the carpet. Normally, the carpets look weathered and dirty. Bed sheets were crisp and clean as I am a fanatic with cleanliness since I had a bad experience with bed bugs upon my travels at another 4 start hotel. So, really depends on care of hotel.
Hotel was very nice, but the staff is exceptional. Went out of their way to make sure my stay was enjoyable. Highly recommend staying there. Plan to stay there th next tim business brings me to he area.
This place has the most comfortable beds ever ! Their breakfast was incredible and even had vegan items and soy milk for me :) Thank you so much for going out of your way for your customers ! You rock ! We will be back!
This is the second time I have stayed at this Best Western. Each time I find the staff tries hard to accomodate their guests. This last time their was an issue with the plumbing and they had to shut off the hot water. While I found the situation upsetting,(after all no one likes a cold shower), the staff remained calm and pleasant. This certainly help diffuse a difficult situation. Food is similar to most chain hotels. The one extremely helpful service is they will drive you into downtown Hartford and pick you up again - for free. This is service is one if The main reasons I chose to stay there, as opposed to staying at a much more expensive hotel in the downtown area.
Front desk very courteous and attentive as customers arrived to check in....Room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Breakfast was a nice touch to the stay the servings never ran out servers at the hotel made sure of that.
Great hotel for the stay. Rooms are clean, big, and organized. Enjoyed the pool and Jacuzzi nice and relaxing. Staff where very nice. Breakfast was good nice options for the price you are getting the bang for your buck.
Our car broke down a couple of miles from this hotel around 11pm at night. I called to see if they had rooms and if they could send a shuttle to pick up me and my two small children. Within minutes, Shinequa (sorry if I misspelled her name) picked us up in the Best Western shuttle. And very soon my kids and I were snuggled up in comfortable, clean beds. And in the morning it was so great to walk out to the lobby and find a bountiful, well-maintained breakfast buffet. My kids loved the pancake machine! I could not have imagined a better place to have my car break down!
Location is really excellent with respect to downtown. The room was clean, breakfast was good, had no problems sleeping in the bed, which felt comfortable. The area surrounding the hotel is fine, and there are several gas stations and convenience stores up the street.
Room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The hotel is in a good location. The front desk was friendly, quick and helpful. The beds were comfortable. There was free parking. Hotel price includes a full free breakfast..what's not to like?
Given the competition from Hilton Gardens and Embassy Suites, you'd think Best Western would up its game slightly. This Hartford Best Western is near I-91 and well located but is so filthy, it seems as if it's NEVER been cleaned. The floor of the elevator had so much grime on it, you felt dirty standing on it in your shoes. In the grooves of the door jam was caked in dried food and gunk. The rooms not much better. Carpets so dirty you don't feel comfortable walking around barefooted.
An unassuming hotel right across the road from an equally unassuming little general aviation airport, right off I-91 - who would think it would be as nice as it is. Terrific staff, good pre-made hot breakfast items, even a decent pancake dispenser! Clean, very comfortable, quiet and in every way a good choice. I'll stay again.
I stayed here unexpectedly for a few times. Every time the staff remembered me and were professional and friendly. I was fortunate enough to be helped by Erin numerous times. She is such a great asset to the team!
Aqused of smoking in room By rude staff then worked it out with staff and still charged $250 Tried calling every day for a week and no reply from manager Non hotel folks with many kids at the pool and spa was dirty water
I paid for a king room and ended up with a queen size bed. towels were not changed when I called and the wifi there was not good. However, it was a few nights and i had service in the area. I would personally not go back to that particular best western but others have been okay. breakfast was also pretty good while i was there.
This hotel is in a sort of industrial area, convenient to town and the highway or airport, but not exactly pleasant. Our room was large and modern, might have been handicap accessible. Even the bathroom was large. Not luxurious, but roomy. How do they not have exhaust fans in hotel room bathrooms??!! I will say the beds were super comfy and felt luxe. All of the staff we saw face to face were very nice, and seemed willing to help. Breakfast wasn't too bad - some protein choices along with the bagels and fruit and cereal. Staff had a hard time keeping things filled, but it was graduation weekend and they were at capacity. The walls are like cardboard, I could hear people in the next room cough! But our big issue was housekeeping. When we returned to the hotel on our second evening, after a long, full day at college graduation, our beds weren't even made! Some member of staff had removed our dirty towels and emptied the trash cans - thank you to whoever that was - but that was it! Maybe bathroom was wiped up, hard to tell. No clean towels, beds unmade. Not the way you want to see your room at the end of the day. We had to go down to the front desk to get towels for the next day. Our party had four rooms in different areas/floors of the hotel, and all had varying degrees of the same story! Disappointing, to say the least.
Great family experience, pool, breakfast and accommodations were all awesome. Early check in with a 3 year old was a great surprise. Would recommend and also stay again when we are in the area. Looking forward to staying in a Best Western when we travel again this Summer.
After a day of running around with teenager at event. I was so glad to be back at hotel. It's quiet, clean, and out of the way of traffic, yet only 2-3 mins. drive to convention center. The front desk is greets you with a smile and really want to know how your stay with them is going.
We started here on our way from Philadelphia to Boston. The hotel was nice on the exterior. Upon arrival, we realized there was a large group staying there. They took over the lobby and eating area. The hallways were not vacuumed and kept clean. The room was fine, no problems there.
Our check in was great with Jose. He helped us with a better rate than I had found (a first for me). He helped us with dinner ideas and we decided to go next door to Chowder Pot from his recommendation. It was amazing! The hot tub was super hot at night and cool in the morning. Strange, but worked for us. The room was very spacious. The bed was too hard for me. Breakfast had several hot and cold choices. I would definitely return.
Many of the patrons staying there were very shadey! I do not recommend this hotel for a family! Please do your homework before booking! I'm sure other best westerns are better! The location and other patrons made it creepy!
Good staff, solid breakfast and a great bed. A positive experience. Was there for a family member's birthday party celebration. The staff were great and I got some gym time in as well. The decor was measured but definitely value for money.
Staff was helpful even though we were checking in after midnight. The coffee machine was out of decaf and the staff insisted on replenishing the coffee even though I said it wasn't necessary she said it needed to be done anyway.
Room service was not consistent. Beds not made on 1 day of a 6 day stay. Complimentary breakfast was about average juice machine was out of orange juice and eggs were in shout supply. Overall it was an OK place to stay.
Excellent hotel! The staff was absolutely wonderful and respectful. Hotel rooms were well decorated, clean and enjoyable. Great experience and would come back! Spent the day in Mystic Seaport, a must see if in Northern CT.
We passed through Hartford and got a great deal on hotels.com! This hotel was clean , had a great breakfast in the morning and a beautiful outdoor pool/indoor hot tub. The rooms were very attractive and spacious and the staff was very professional.
My teen daughter and stayed here one night one our way home from a trip in New England. Able to get reservation easily, price quite reasonable. Easy to find, ample parking in well-lighted lot, friendly staff, very clean and modern room, beds comfortable. Had breakfast on site and well-pleased with offerings. Will stay here again if passing through.
We are very happy with our last stay at this Best Western!! Couldn't have asked for a better check in/out. Hotel was clean and staff were friendly! We would stay at this Best Western again if we needed a place to rest our heads!:)
Great stay - clean room, beds comfortable, staff pleasant and supportive, breakfast was good, outside was impressively clean. Access to room was good. Overall great experience. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in this area. Easy to get to, great group of staff. Stay here!
I was attending a concert at the Xfinity Theater and realized that it would be next to impossible to park near the theater. The front desk offered options and a van to take people to the concert...very helpful on all levels. The room was clean, I got a great nights sleep and it was very quiet. I would recommend this hotel and plan to stay there again when attending another concert.
I stayed here for my 50th Reunion (Trinity College). The location "across the highway" from the rest of town made me a little wary, but it was actually quite pleasant -- a small municipal airport across the street provided lots of grassy fields, and there is no street noise or crowding. Don't try to walk down from town -- there are no sidewalks past the highway and little allowance for pedestrians. But this should be unnecessary, since the hotel provides free shuttle service all day until about 8:30 PM. To or from anywhere in town! Very nice. The free breakfast was good enough that I had no motive to look elsewhere. And the coffee machine stays on (and free) all day. Yes! The room I stayed in was very nice. Anything fancier would be just for show. The big TV worked fine and a guide to three HBO and other channels was helpful. There were some pretty rambunctious folks in the room next door, but I can't blame the hotel for that. Best of all, it's right next door to the Chowder Pot, a great little seafood restaurant with a good raw bar and a decent chef.
One of my colleagues and I stayed here the night before attending a conference. I've never stayed at a Best Western and wouldn't repeat the experience. The walls seem to be paper thin and I was much more acquainted with the people in the next room than I ever hoped to be. Between the extremely loud and prolonged conversation in the hallway at 3:30 am and the constant talking with loud Hispanic music (I knocked on the adjoining door twice) and talking that kept up till just before 6:00am, it was a very unpleasant stay. If your looking for somewhere to get a good night's rest, I would not recommend staying here!
This place is in the middle of nowhere pretty much in the hood I wouldn't consider this place a 4+ stars like they claim. The entire room smelled musty and the towels smelled like they sat in the washer for 2 weeks then still placed in the room
It was the closest hotel to Uconn we could find it, we stayed there for our son graduation. We had a good experience with a BW hotel in Danbury . Erin at the reception desk gave us a good welcome even when we arrived before the check in time. Like the Danbury one the room was spacious and comfortable, and the breakfast all you need for a good morning start. We just had a couple of minor problems with the bathroom and the cleaning of the room.
The Hotel is close to interstate, very clean large rooms and has a great restaurant in walking distance .The prices are good for the room. The breakfast was good. The staff was very friendly .I would definitely recommend this hotel, especially if just travelling through. the area was safe.
nice size rooms, affordable seafood/American fare restaurant nxt door, close to highway w/o the noise, comfortable beds, good breakfast (variety hot and cold items) hot tub, pool, laundry and gym areas. Stayed there for wedding at Glastonbury boathouse, mcdonalds, wendy's, subway & burger king in walking distance. Would stay again!
We enjoyed our stay this weekend and it was exactly what we needed for a one night visit. Myrical, at the front desk, was very helpful when I thought I left my keys there in the hotel. I would definitely stay there again and so would my friends.
The next time you visit Hartford, CT you must stay at this beautiful hotel is a a great place to stay! The staff was nice and kind and very helpful. The rooms were lovely and pleasing to stay in, the food was good and it was in a good location near the highway close to downtown.
Clean, comfortable, reasonably priced, 24 hr coffee service in the lobby, shuttle service into hartford. The only thing missing was a variety of nearby eateries that didn't require getting onto the highway.
lady at front desk was rude upon check in. middle of the night my eye was hurting no room service have to come down at front desk to get tablet. signed up for express check out but have to call them back and asked for the receipt.
Great place to stay clean and very respectful.i would recommend the place to other family and friends.it was a great experience to be when u are dealing with a crisis such as I was.i will come to this place.
we weren't flying, but noticed that they have a shuttle service we were there for one night large room, quiet on top floor facing front they offered a nice breakfast, with more than enough choices looks like the hotel was redone recently if you need a hotel in the area, would take a look at this one
Easy to get to off the highway. Clean. Courteous staff. Good breakfast -- plenty of seating for everyone. Enjoyed it enough to stay an extra night. Great rate with Best Western Rewards. Only thing missing is an indoor pool.
As a Diamond status rewards member, I expected to be made welcome at check-in, to be welcomed back to BW. To be offered the room upgrade or at least told there is unfortunately none available. To be offered the goody bag or as an alternative the 500 bonus points. Well none of this happened. I figured asking about one rewards point would kick in their memory if all the things they should attend to but I had to ask every single question. Just unacceptable as a welcoming script. Plus with a price of $160 Canadian it was almost 80% more expensive than the other 10 BW properties we stayed in in the last 2 weeks
Everybody at this location was friendly and helpful. Everything was clean and in great condition. The breakfast was great and the location was the best part. It was close to everything we wanted to do.
Our family was in a very stressful situation in February when our older mom was in need of life saving emergency triple bypass surgery at St. Francis Hospital. A blizzard was in the forecast and we all live a distance from the hospital. Fortunately we made reservations for 2 rooms at the Best Western. We were greeted at the front desk by Erin, who was very pleasant! What a breath of fresh air! Erin also assisted us with take out options (with delivery) for our late dinner. Our rooms were very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was also very ample. Can't say enough about how we enjoyed Erin and our stay!
The hotel is fine for an airport Best Western. Pool, hot tub, gym, half-decent breakfast. Place frequently smelled like someone was smoking pot in their room. Conference rooms are ridiculously small. Biggest complaint is that there is only one restaurant (seafood) and a McDonalds within walking distance of this place, so if you are hungry make sure you have a car.
This is a nice hotel on the edge of Hartford. From check in to check out the staff were very helpful and did everything they could for us. Our rooms were clean and modern and very large. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. Breakfast was fairly basic but the room price was very reasonable so we didn't really expect a lavish breakfast. As we didn't have a car with us, the shuttle bus was particularly helpful. Although the hotel doesn't have a restaurant, there is a seafood restaurant right beside it. So would I recommend it ? Absolutely.
I must say, this might have been the best hotel I've ever stayed in for that price. I had called different hotels in the area that had plenty of availability online, but they needed a credit card to book a room, but when I called three other locations they all told me they were completely booked, & it must be incorrect online... It was a very late night for me & I was two hours from home. Finally, I find this hotel & had a very pleasant conversation with the front desk clerk Ornela who assured me a room & I was also able to pay in cash as I did not have a card on me. Not only was Ornela EXTREMLY patient and kind (as it was 3am) but she even made sure I had a room right near the stairs to outside as she knew I was a smoker, she took the extra step to do that without me even asking. The hotel was very clean, spotless actually & the rooms was surprisingly well stocked with fridge & microwave. also, one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on! Thank you so much for a great clean stay, & an excellent staff !!
Located at 185 Brainard Road, Hartford, Connecticut, USA. Nicely appointed rooms with large comfortable beds, good quality linen, plump pillows. Easy chair, pouffé, small coffee table, sufficient free standing lamps. Microwave, fridge, tea/coffee making facilities. Free standing flatscreen TV. Walls decorated with framed prints, carpeted flooring. Air conditioning. Ample sized bathroom, good water pressure, good quality white towelling. Small dining room with adjoining lounge area with sofas & soft seating. Feature stone chimney breast with glass fronted fireplace & wall mounted flatscreen TV thereover. Continental style breakfast, some hot food. Staff pleasant & helpful. Check in - 3.00pm. Check out - 11.00am. WiFi. Fitness room. Car parking. A nice hotel. I would use this venue again.
I was in Hartford for an interview and spent a night here at the Best Western. My parents accompanied me on this trip also for moral support and to view the area. The shuttle driver Juan was very nice. He picked us up from Union Station and drove us into the hotel. Erin, one of the front desk staff was very warm and welcoming. She arranged for us to be picked up by the shuttle and for my transportation the following morning to the interview. The room was clean and spacious. Free Wifi and continental breakfast were included in the rate. My interview day ended after an extended check out time (1pm). Erin made my parents feel comfortable in the interim and even provided them with sandwiches while they waited for me to arrive. Although brief, we enjoyed our stay and I would stay here again.
We had a lovely stay. The reservation was easy, the check in with Myra was efficient and our room was very nice. The room was clean, bed very comfortable and heater quiet. We met Kevin, the sales manager at breakfast and he gave us great information about why the hotel is so great. Erin checked us out efficiently. We would stay here again.
A much needed get away for a few tired Moms!! We were determined to have a relaxing but fun weekend and that's exactly what happened!!! The hot tub was awesome! Free breakfast is always good and OMG the bed was like sleeping on a cloud!! We will definitely be back !!!
This hotel has all the facilities you might want which we knew from when we booked but none of these were pointed out when we checked in. When we returned from an early dinner nearby the electric doors were switched off and we were outside banging on them for a while as the lobby was unmanned. After a while the receptionist returned to her position and realised we couldn't get in and switched the doors back on. When my wife said we had been waiting to get in for a while the young lady muttered that they had been switched off while cleaning was being done but no apology was offered. Not impressed. We did receive better service in the morning when a gentleman helped us get the shower working which was better. In our travelling around New England the service at this hotel ranked the poorest because of our experience. I would visit again as we were probably just unlucky on the day but I work in a service industry so I recognise when service isn't as it should be. Breakfast was good and the room was clean and comfortable.
Front staff was very friendly and served a good complimentary breakfast each morning. I was happy to have access to coffee and water in the lobby throughout the day. I was not satisfied that the cleaning staff did not always re-stock the towels and coffee kcups.
We stayed here for 2 nights. First impressions are everything, right? As we approached the desk there was a woman telling the front desk that she had bedbugs in her room. The hallway carpets were very dirty and remained that way during our stay. I'm pretty sure a homeless man was walking the halls. The icing on the cake was the aweful smell, so I inquired about it. It was coming from the sewage plant down the road. So my advise find somewhere else to stay!
Think again, if you are planning on choosing this location. Rooms are musty, machines in fitness center are broken. The shower head in my room was cracked. The condition of the hotel is a shame, because the staff is exceptionally kind and nice.
All my sisters, myself, and parents stayed in this Best Western. The rooms were clean, and comfortable. It was great having a fridge and microwave. The hotel staff were all very friendly and very accommodating. Erin, at the front desk, went out of her way to be very helpful, giving us locations of nearby restaurants, attractions and she took the time to talk with my Mother of all the changes Hartford has gone through over the years. We would stay here again!
We were passing through Hartford and chose this hotel. We were very happy with our choice. The hotel met our needs for a clean room, comfy bed, internet, free parking and a continental breakfast. At first we weren't sure of the location when we arrived, but the hotel staff gave us information of nearby restaurants.
Impressive staff, comfortable bed. Decor could be updated and lighting is somewhat harsh. Convenient frig and microwave. Fine location, convenient to Hartford but outside the city traffic. Three floors, with wide choice of rooms.
We stayed here en route to Boston after getting off a plane from Australia and driving straight up. The lady on reception was most welcoming and informative. Our room was a good size and clean. There was quite a loud noise in the hallway from some sort of motor but we couldn't hear it in the room and we slept well. There was a wide self service selection for breakfast which was constantly topped up. The motel is a bit out of town but there were several restaurants within walking distance. We would stay here again.
The room is a good size. Our room had a little bit of a smell. The breakfast bar had extras that was very nice. For examples syrup flavoring for coffee, blue berries, almonds, M&Ms, chocolate chips, and other items that make it better than other breakfast bars.
We came to the area to go to the Big E -New England States Fair . Hotel is away from the huslte and bustle of city -excellent service. fresh fruit and soy milk in addition eggs and sausage. cereal. good coffee - liked Keurig coffee maker in room. The bed was too soft for me. Very convenient trip to Bradley Airport. Shuttle does not go to airport but will take you restaurants or stores in area - 7 mile limit.
This hotel was great for the price The service was great, the location excellent. I really felt that the check in staff was efficient and friendly. THe bed was very comfortable. We were only in Hartford for one night so this was fine. It's not the most luxurious place in the world but is perfect for one night.
Hotel is very clean. Rooms are large with great mattress. We had a king bed and a couch. Refrigerator and microwave. Hotel is non smoking which is great. Close to airport if you need that. Right off highway. Staff very helpful and professional. Cleaning staff wears uniforms. The breakfast was great. Fresh eggs and omelets. Multiple choices. Cereal, breads, fruit, yogurt etc. Would stay again if we are in area.
The management of this hotel could not be nicer. Very professional and reasonable. I booked this hotel for several visits in a row for my son to use to study for Lsat exams while going to college. We asked for a quiet room each reservation and each time the hotel provided excellent accommodations. The hotel staff is friendly and wonderful. We met two Myras, Erin, Erica, Kevin, and others who were all very helpful. The hotel guest clientele are regular people traveling or on business. No airport noise. No outside noise. No bars or clubs with pounding music. The rooms are quiet, clean, modern furnishings and nice linens. Great prices. Easy access from 91 and local Hartford roads. Nothing like this in the area. All the downtown hotels are much more expensive, parking is about $15/ day, and wifi is not free ($10/ day). Highly recommend this place.
Came in from travel 1:30 pm. laid on top of bed covers. My partner later got under the covers. About 2 hours of sleep and rubbing my couple of mosquito bites. I knocked something off me. hit on bed. After further investigation! BED BUGS in 1 minute we found at least 15 of them. The receptionist was very rude as if it was our fault. Not apologetic or humble. They had limited communication. The night ended with me calling the police for the principal of this and a file report. It was never handled that night through managers or supervisors. We went to another hotel. On Monday, when I CALLED the GM. the end result was reimbursement for one of the night stay and the spray brought to treat our luggage and at that point an apology! WE WILL NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN. for that amount of bug the cleaners ignored such signs!
While not where I thought it was, this hotel was very conveniently located near the airport and major highways. I was worried about finding a good place for dinner, but found a huge seafood place just across the parking lot. Great lobster rolls! The room was comfortable and quiet. The staff was friendly and helpful.
We were here for business, and would definitely return another time. This place has THE most comfortable beds we've experienced; the rooms were clean and nicely furnished; breakfast had your typical hot/cold choices served in a comfortable front room. Easy access on/off the highway. Kevin takes great pride in his hotel and his community. He was very kind, hospitable, and helpful - directing us to restaurants and providing routes to our destinations. Maera checked us in quickly and made us feel welcomed. Erin kindly helped us with computer issues (getting boarding passes) with a smile and flair! So glad we chose this BW for this trip!
I broke down here in Hartford CT and had a great stay. Accommodations were top notch and Erin the lovely young lady at the front desk is awesome. Very friendly and professional on every level. I most definitely wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. She was so nice I might have to come back for a visit. Thank you very much for taking care of me, Darren Dupuis. ??
I stayed here for 3 nights and was very impressed. Rooms were, nice clean, and comfortable. Wi-fi was very good and this property is located in a quiet area. I would definately recommend this hotel to travelers alike.
This hotel is very modern and clean. Our room was very clean & spacious. The beds & pillows are so comfortable. It even had a full size sofa (bed). The staff is friendly & hospitable. They have everything you need!
This is seriously one of the best motels I've stayed at at any price or star level. Clean and well appointed. The room was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was in great condition and spotless. My only minor ding is for the elevator that needed some spit and polish. Great breakfast (I was especially enamored with the automatic pancake maker :) ) People who worked there were super nice. 10 minutes from Hartford. Literally across the street from the airport. Will go back again and again as our daughter just started at Trinity.
Stayed here for 2 nights with a group of pepole and had a great Experience. ERIN was amazing she went above and beyond to find things for us to do. She checked on us several times to make sure we were ok. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE ERIN!! The hotel is very new and clean. I would definitely stay there again.
This Best Western was basic, clean and decent for the price. Breakfast was included but it was very basic. No extras, nothing special but can't really complain either. The hot tub whirl pool was out of order which was a bummer. And the front desk associate was saying the room numbers of the guests checking in, out loud, which is a huge customer safety no no. It's not a fantastic location, nothing is literally right there, however with a 15min drive (sometimes longer due to the construction) you get to where the main attractions are. All in all, it was clean and safe and not too shabby. Worth it on a budget.
8 hours into a 12 hour drive, we decided to stop overnight and not push driving late into the evening. Pros: It's a solid highway hotel for a one night stay, conveniently located off the highway (with a gas station close by to fill up the next morning before heading), quiet, recently renovated hotel rooms, safe, gym, outdoor pool for kids to get some energy out, nice staff. Cons: none that I can really think of for a one night stay while on a long family road trip.
This is a nice hotel with extra amenities like the hot tub and outdoor pool. The breakfast has variety and we really enjoyed the pancake machine. It is easy to get to off of the highway. For dinner, we went to the First and Last Tavern that was close by. This is an excellent little Italian eatery.
I have stayed at this hotel for the last 10 years. It has had a few different names. This hotel is now in the best shape, cleanest rooms, friendly staff, comfortable beds, and the breakfast hits the spot. Very easy to get to, great dining and cocktails close by. Every time I am in Hartford on business I always try to book this hotel first. When my family travels south we sometimes stop here also.
We were in town for a memorial service over the weekend and decided to stay over and see some of historic Hartford. This location is in an industrial area, but there's a pretty good seafood restaurant and fast food options nearby. The room was clean and modern. Looked exactly like the photo on the web site, so they've obviously done a renovation recently. The staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast has great options. Love the pancake machine. Downsides: For reasons I'm not clear about, the place was smelly in the hallways. Couldn't quite tell what the smell was, but at certain times of the day it was pretty pungent. There was also a loud hum in the hallway outside of our door on the second floor (Room 222). Fortunately if was muffled once we were inside. That said, we would stay here again. There's a nicely appointed fitness room and a pool that we didn't use.
The Hotel was clean and the staff were friendly.. The breakfast was good but could use a big upgrade and the coffee was the only bad part of the stay it was so bad I could not even drink it .. Other than that over all my family of 4 was happy...
The hotel was very easy to get to off the highway and looked very nice on the outside. The room was very large and spacious, and was pleasant to stay in . Breakfast in the morning was adequate. The bed was very comfortable as well as the overall experience in the room. The only negative would be that the top portion of the window did not lock, so it was easy to just pull down from the inside and outside which was a little nerve wracking since we were on the first floor. Other than this, our stay was wonderful.
Shuttle is convenient, especially getting a ride from the hotel to somewhere else, less so to get back. Iesha and Naftali were so helpful and nice! Breakfast was ok (points for having Nutella), internet excellent. Location is close to highway, but otherwise a bit isolated. Room was very clean but smelled a bit funny. Washer and dryer were handy for our longer stay.
Except for a bathroom door that would not close our stay was enjoyable. We would stay at this establishment again, but would ask for any other room but this one (rm-163). We did not use the fitness room, but it did look like it was well equipped.
We had driven in from Niagara Falls, ON & made reservations online to the Best Western Hotel & Suites in Hartford CT. We were greeted by Myra who was there to please you & make you smile. The entry was so clean & bright. Our room was so comfortable & had gone under a renovation. We also met Keven the Hotel Sales Manager. He was so delightful to talk to. It was so helpful on helping us plan our trip the next day to Mystic, CT. He gave us suggestions to attractions, restaurants & check in to a room for us there. We asked about a food recommendation for that evening & they highly suggested the restaurant next door. We went there and the food was wonderful. If we are ever in this area again we would make sure to reserve a room here.
Having a clean, value conscious, property to hang my hat is very comforting when on frequent business travels. This BW should be redesignated as a BW PLUS! Exceptional amenities and well trained professional staff and convenient access make this my new home base when in my Central CT territory. Be confident that Mya will greet you with a brilliant smile and assist you professionally. A pleasure to deal with this staff. See you soon. ??
First visited two years ago while the hotel was going under renovation. Visited again his year, renovation is complete and rooms are great! Very comfortable, clean, and modern! Our next trip through Hartford we will gladly stay here again.
I stayed for the weekend. I was very happy with how clean the hotel was and how friendly the workers were. I was there for a softball tourney and there were other team staying at the hotel. I would give one bit of huge advice though... if you do not like kids, then ask if there are any teams staying at the hotel before booking. If you have kids, then it is a great place. There is a 10pm quiet time and no kids were permitted to walk around without their parents.
We spent a comfortable night at this hotel en route to Pennsylvania. The room was large, very clean and the bed was extremely comfy! Huge props to Myra and Kevin at the front desk; they seemed genuinely interested in us as customers, and were keen to engage in conversation about what brought us to Hartford, and tips about the best way for our onward journey. Friendly staff such as these fine folk make a good hotel great. Whilst the location is just off the highway and not at all near downtown Hartford, this is mitigated by the shuttle, which took us right to Mark Twain's home and collected us again at our leisure. Thanks, Kevin! Not all hotels provide such a service. The wifi was fast, the breakfast good and there's also a seafood restaurant next door for dinner. All in all, a really positive experience for an overnight stay.
The room was spacious and clean. The hot tub and pool were a nice added bonus. The breakfast was decent with fresh fruit options. The free shuttle to the concert venue was great! And the staff were friendly and helpful.
Hotel was spacious and clean well worth the price. Would stay there again Had no issue with service, pool and spa were clean. Also had a pavilion for the guest to use with grill. Not far from restaurants and stores. I would recommend this hotel if your traveling to Hartford or the surrounding area.
We could not get a good quality of sleep here because kids were staying here from a couple of sports teams. It was very noisy and not the best stay, The rooms were smaller than other Best Western properties we have stayed at. 1 computer was broken in business center
So, on the plus side: a great hot breakfast and very friendly staff. I was disappointed by a couple of things room-wise. They were mostly good but there was, let's say, a housecleaning oversight in my first room. The suite to which I was upgraded was great, except for abundant, loud and repetitive noise from the ice machine on the other side of the wall. Sigh. So for me, 3 stars.
Clean room, friendly staff, easy access from highway, close to restaurants. Nice pool, whirlpool, and gym. Service is consistent and efficient. Parking and gym are free. This was my 4th visit. I would go again.
This is a great little hotel. Great free breakfast, clean, comfortable room, pleasant employees, clean and well kept. The pool and hot tub were wonderful! It was very close to the Xfinity center where we were going. They told us there was a free shuttle but we didn't use it.
Spent Saturday night here with my daughter while in town for a softball tournament. Overall not a bad place, wouldn't be on the top of (or on) my list if I were going on vacation. But it is very convenient for us and close to the softball fields. The room was clean, which is the most important thing for me. Overall for the price not a bad place to stay.
The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable. There was a fridge, microwave and a Keurig coffee maker. The shower was big with plenty of hot water. Breakfast was hot and fresh - limited choices but clean and well-stocked in a small but airy breakfast room. A few cons - the housekeeping folks were a bit noisy out in the hallway. The walls are kinda' thin which means we listened to the guy next door's TV literally all night long. The bathroom door had quite a squeak. Certainly, none of these were deal-breakers. The lines were long at check-in with only one clerk working the desk. At check-out the next morning, we were told that we'd been listed as "no-show" but it didn't take too long to convince them that we were indeed there and had the room key cards to prove it. The very nice, young gal at the desk assured me they'd take care of it. At home a few days later, I noticed my credit card had been charged a "no-show fee" but it had been credited as well. It's all good. My husband and I were on our way from Philadelphia to Boston and this hotel was an excellent half-way stopping point. We'd definitely stay again.
Exactly what we needed halfway to Maine. The staff was pleasant and helpful, room was large and clean. Had a great dinner at the seafood place next door, thanks to the Best Western manager who mentioned the Happy Hour prices when we checked in. Visually, it ain't much, sandwiched between the freeway and the airport, but ambient noise was minimal.
I was so pleasatly surprised by my stay at the Hartford Best Western. I expected rather pedestrian furnishings, but instead found a spacious, bathroom with granite counter top and pretty freshly redecorated room with rather modern decore. The bed was very comfortable with a cush comforter and very fluffy pillows. The best part of the stay was the staff. Due to a delayed flight I did not arrive until 3am. The lady who greated me at the desk (I am so sorry I didn't as for her name so I could give her better kuddos) was as pleasant as if I was arriving at 3 in the afternoon. The gentleman who checked me out in the morning made sure everything was to my satisfaction and if anything could have been improved during my stay. There was only one minor flaw in the stay which garnered the 4 star rather than a 5. The shower head was attached to a hose that leaked, thus the water pressure was rather low. A minor maintenance issue that they assured me would be addressed in the future. I truly feel that I received the same level of customer service you would get at a high end hotel, at budget prices. If I make this trip again, I will absolutely make this my top pick for an overnight stay. Thanks so much to the excellent staff!
I don't write many reviews, but I feel compelled as a citizen as a fellow traveler to warn you to NEVER go here. EVER!!! If you do stay here and God forbid you have a problem, don't bother trusting the manager Eddie Torres. Because that guy will tell you what you want to hear, lie to your face, shake your hand and then screw you once you leave. Here's the story. Upon entering the room it wreaked of smoke. It was supposed to be non-smoking. So much for that. We were in a hurry and had to head off to an event we had to make so we shrugged and were like, we will live with it. That was until we had to get ready. HAIR from previous tenants clogged the bathtub, PUBIC HAIRS in the soap dish and SEMEN/CUM stains on the comforter. At that point I was like...enough. We are getting out of here. So....I took some pics to make sure the management didn't think we were crazy. We grabbed our bags and left. I spoke with the manager Eddie. I explained the situation, he assured me everything was fine. We booked through Hotwire so he said I would have to go through them, but he would note the account. Something told me just to call right there, but we HAD to go or we would miss the show. Flash forward a couple of days later. I call Hotwire. They call Eddie and what-do-you-know he changes his story! Hotwire says sorry but you used the room. I was like....yeah....that's how we found the problems. So I call Eddie. "Oh yeah I'm sorry we noticed you used the room so I can no longer offer you the refund." "Umm...yeah Eddie that's how we figured the issues." In the end, these issues could be found at any hotel and mistakes do happen. At the end of the day $140 whatever dollars isn't the issue. It's the principle of the matter. Eddie Torres shouldn't have lied to his customers only to change his story later. They should have honored the refund, or not offered it at all. In the end, this was booked by our corporation, for a business trip. We have already notified them and our legal department will handle the matter. Which is great because I am done dealing with these people.
Room was very clean, but when I turned the bed down to sleep at night found hair and debris in the bed....also found make-up on the pillowcase after further inspection. Very deceiving as the rest of the room, bathroom, towels etc. was exceptionally clean. It sounds like they just got lazy and did not change the sheets from the previous guest, very disturbing, as this is my minimal expectation of a hotel room.
This hotel is in the middle of an industrial park and priced low enough to attract a mixed demographic bag. The weekend we were there guests dumped bubble bath mix in the whirlpool and were doing god knows what in there. There were hair extensions floating in the pool and most of the kids/teens weren't wearing swim suits. This isn't a place for a 'getaway' or any kind of special occasion. We were contractually obligated to stay here, or I probably would have preferred sleeping in the car.
Good location and decent hotel, good staffs. However, found several bed bugs at 3 AM after my fiancee realized she had bites all over her face, hands and back. Took several pictures, killed few bed bugs and found one live bed bug, captured on a plastic cup and took it to front desk at 3 AM. Staff was nice enough to move us to a nicer suite. However couldn't sleep for a while thinking of bud beg even in that bed/room. Not staying in this hotel or any best western EVER again.
The facility is extremely clean , the staff friendly and facility in quiet area. Excellent service and staff make it worthwhile visiting every three moths just for weekend get away. Once you visit, this will be your go to spot for weekend relaxation.
I have stayed in this hotel 2 times. Both times the employees check you in quickly and ask to insure I have all of my needs for my stay. Nothing is a problem! The staff makes me feel like I am part of a neighborhood and recognized me from my first visit. Everyone is kind and considerate. My best experience is that I forgot my wallet at the hotel in my room. Nothing stolen. This is a big deal to me for staying in a metropolitan location.
I Love To Stay IN This Hotel, Breakfast Exellent, And room very Clean..personal Verry kind ,The night personal very nice. The people there are sweet ,our experiences in the hotel Magnificent.I took a friend and He tell me is was the first time He eat breakfast in a hotel, and He Liked 2
I have been to this property on prior trips - it is convenient for business trips. It is not a great property, but this trip finally convinced me to not return. Just three examples (and keep in mind this is business travel): 1. My office booked a king (executive) suite and asked for a quiet location. I arrived to find I had been given a single standard room off the lobby. After some discussion, i was eventually moved to a different and quieter location, but all king suites were gone - so: no large table. (I needed the large table in the suite to array work related materials); 2. Next morning, the hot water runs tepid at best. Front desk offers to send an engineer - I understand sending an engineer if the A/C malfunctions or the phone is on the fritz, but sending an engineer does no good if the water in the hotel is NOT hot. So, I get to take a cold shower before attending my meeting. 3. Breakfast area is occupied by a bus load of students - not eating, just hanging out waiting to take off. All hot food is depleted. Front desk staff apologizes but can do nothing, Lovely, So, I head to a McDonald's for the relative quiet to do a last minute review of work and get breakfast. So, overall, a disappointing experience.
Easy on/easy off the main road, good restaurants near by. Clean rooms, professional and friendly staff, average pricing. The decor of the room was nice, internet worked room had a microwave, coffee set-up (keurig), and a nice sized fridge with a freezer (for your ice packs). The shower was just right in pressure. Breakfast was the norm, except they had fresh blueberries (nice touch). Didn't see a free newspaper.
Stay: April 14-16, 2016 I would like to commend the wonderful job the staff is doing at the Best Western Hartford Hotel & Suites. I know most people submit a review to issue a complaint, but when someone does an exceptional job, you need to know and they need to be commended, especially publically. I would specifically like to name Kevin McCabe, Sales Manager, and front desk, Myra Fields. We had a very large group that they needed to deal with and they could not have been more patient, efficient, compassionate...well, the list could go on and on. They managed to get our group of 50+ mostly on the same floor, which is a dream come true for chaperons (although we are so fortunate to have an amazing group of students, etc.). The rest of the employees there, although I do not have names, are doing an amazing job, also. The property is well-kept, clean, and they were able to keep up the supplies for breakfast for not only our very large group, but many other groups that were there, too, for the N.E. FIRST District Championship, being held at the XL Center. They also supplied shuttle service, which our team did not use, but other teams that may have been struggling financially, very much appreciated. We have been doing this for 21 years now, and I have to say, this has to be the best experience we have ever had, due to Kevin, Myra, & the rest of the staff here. When we were fortunate to have a corporate sponsor (we lost of business partner 4 years ago and it has been a struggle for our team), we stayed at some very nice hotels, with many amenities, and their staff is doing a much better job. We selected this hotel due to location (easy access to highway...close to downtown) & price, but I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The do not have a lot of fancy amenities, but the hotel rooms are nice, beds very comfortable with very nice bedding, etc. and you couldn't ask for better staff, etc. to deal with.
Room had a king size bed, microwave, refrigerators, couch, chair, and desk. Included are free WiFi, and breakfast. I recommend this hotel . The staff were really helpful in guiding us on the points of interest in Hartford. The shuttle driver dropped us off in the morning and picked us up when we were done sightseeing. Excellent.
The staff at the Best Western was very accommodating and pleasant. We stood at this hotel for a cheer competition that was being held nearby. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. The shuttle service to and from the venue was a huge plus. There was a variety of breakfast items available, the staff was very attentive and replenishing the items before they were emptied. This is I'm sure was a project within itself with so many hungry girls getting ready for their day. The pancake machine was a hit! This was the first time we've seen one. The girls all seemed to love it. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel and will be looking forward to next years stay.
I give technical classes several times a year that are held here. The hotel is clean, quiet, comfortable. The staff are always helpful. We have had shipping and equipment problems on occasion and they have been great in helping solve them. There are plenty of restaurant choices within a short drive.
the only negative that i experienced was the lobby's concentrated coffee Maxwell coffee is usually good this coffee is like jail coffee lol no lie its watery don`t know why but their needs to be more options.. but overall great stay
This hotel is well managed and is a great value for the price. It has amenities that can be found in four and five star hotels. Large well appointed guest rooms, easy check in and check out systems. Most importantly a well trained guest centered staff. As a professor of hotel management I applaud the management for creating a culture of quality service that enhances the guest experience. I really enjoyed the Keurg coffee in the guest room, the beds are the most comfortable I have experienced in a hotel. I recommend this hotel without the slightest hesitation
I always stay at this hotel and the staff is incredible this last week i left money in my room after check out made it back home which is 2 hours away realized my money which was a decent amount was missing i then called the best western hotel on brainard where i stayed asked if they found any money and without hesitation they told me they had it in an envelope they attemptrd to call me which at the time my phone was dead and the returned every last dollar i really appreciate best western and the beautiful staff god bless and now best western is my go to thank u and god bless
The Management, front desk and housekeeping staff made us feel so welcomed, we didn't want to go. I would not hesitate to come back and stay longer at this location. Their customer service is above exceptional!
This hotel surpassed our expectations in every way. We loved our room, the staff was great, and the breakfast was plentiful with a variety of choices. Hotel shuttle was prompt for getting to and from the Connecticut Convention Center, a 5 minute ride away. Restaurants nearby, including delivery service.
Newly renovated, with interior corridors, a large covered main entrance, very nice lobby/sitting area and large breakfast area. Good complimentary breakfast that included eggs, sausage, pancakes, plus all the other usual offerings. The room had a Keurig cup machine, a good TV, a good refrigerator and a good microwave. The bathroom was fine. The entire room seemed very new and clean. I stay in Best Westerns a lot. This one is not designated a "Plus" property but I think it should be.
The beds in our room were extremely comfortable. Some of the best sleep I have received in a long time. Need additional amenities and staff responded efficiently and quickly. Can't wait to visit my children again if not just to stay at this Best Western.
This was our 2nd weekend away staying at this Best Western. The staff is excellent. It's not right in downtown Hartford, yet very close to everything!! The staff was wonderful about recommending good restaurants fun places to visit.
This was the best Best Western we've ever stayed in. New furnishings and carpet, spotlessly clean, free shuttle service into Hartford sites. 24 hour coffee and tea available. Super friendly and helpful staff. Smiles everywhere. Great seafood restaurant right next door. Convenient to any place you want to visit in a wide radius.
Stayed at the Best Western as it was close to downtown and near our destination. Easy on/off to the interstate highway. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean and quiet room. Nice breakfast offerings. Because of our short stay we did not make use of their exercise room or the pool.
I stayed at the Best Western on Saturday Night and checked in Saturday afternoon around 1PM. The area in which it is in is very quiet. The hotel is 3 stories and has a lot of parking all around the building (you can keep an eye on your car from the room. The lobby area was very spacious and quiet also very modern. The front desk staff wasn't really helpful in helping me find the room, they just told me my room number. I requested a double queen bed and the room was very spacious and clean. Very clean! I am happy with this hotel and happy with my stay. If I ever need to stay near Hartford, CT again, I will stay with this hotel.
We went to the Springsteen show at the XL, decided to stay over rather than drive 1 1/2 hrs home after the show. After check in we took the free shuttle to the XL. The only thing that would have made the trip better would be if the shuttle ran late on big event nights. We would definitely stay here again.
We were in Hartford for a concert and choose the Best Western based on the Tripadvisor rating and we we completely satisfied with our stay. The room and the facility were spotless and the free breakfast was great.
Best place on earth , over 1,000 venders I can't say enough. My son loved Thomas the train . Also so many new products coming out this year . Not one bad thing it's great Jan 30 31 make a date to go . With your family
Came into Hartford last weekend for the 2016 Winterfest Volleyball Tournament..and was delighted with my stay at the Hartford Best Western Hotel! The entire staff from chambermaids...to front desk was polite, punctual, helpful, and by all standards...."Top Notch". The front of house and sales manger Kevin did everything thing possible to make our stay exceeding enjoyable. They "happily" shuttled our parties back and forth to the Hartford Convention Center both after hours when we ran late...and additionally during the last day of our tournament saving many of our parties the hassle and cost of the city parking garage (even after we checked out and were no longer guest!). I highly recommend this hotel to any large groups coming into the Hartford area looking for a great service and strong value during their stay! Great Job Best Western! Thanks, Bill G.
Based on other reviews and the price, we chose to stay at this hotel and were very glad we did. The room was very clean and quiet, the beds comfortable, the free breakfast more than adequate. Coffee and hot water for tea and hot chocolate were always available in the breakfast room when we came in during the evening. The staff were friendly and went out of their way to make us comfortable. I asked about the free shuttle schedule to downtown (only about 10 minutes away from the hotel) and learned that there was no schedule, that the shuttle was available to guests when needed. All in all, a great stay and terrific value. We would definitely stay here again.
We stayed here for a volleyball tournament our daughter was attending. The hotel was clean, the staff was courteous and went out of their way to accommodate us. We had a suite and it was clean and spacious and everything worked. The hotel is in driving distance(5 minutes) to everything you need.
Friendly, hospitable, welcoming. Always a hearty hello when entering the vestibule. Breakfast area was constantly being replenished and helpful assist . Sitting area was comfortable and fresh with internet access. Would definitely recommend for future stays.
This is the absolute best deal in the Hartford area. We came to town to see our favorite basketball team, UCONN Women, at the XL center. It is not far from the venue. The hotel is just beautiful. We had stayed here some years ago when it was a different place. That was very nice, but this is awesome. The rooms are very large, decorated beautifully. The bed is sooo comfy, soft, yet firm. Nicer than some places where we have paid at least double. The sales manager, Kevin, is a really nice guy. We met him last time we were here, when he recommended a great place for a bite to eat. We have been there quite a few times since then and always are thankful for his help. This is right next to an airport, NO noise. They include a breakfast, that is okay, needs real butter, but other than that it is fine. This hotel is a real gem, we will stay here again.
Picked this place because of the attractive price online but it was a nice pick! Free breakfast was better than most and room was clean but very standard. Had to stop in Hartford on my way back to the city and it was great for the price. Would definitely return
Just what we needed for a one night stay during a long road trip. No frills, but the room was clean, bigger than normal, the beds were comfy, the shower was awesome, and the breakfast was better than expected.
I was here for an extended weekend for business, Dec. 11-13. The hotel is pretty quiet, not the quietest I've stayed in. The constant humming noise in the hallway, which management reports as having been fixed, was ongoing. It was a curiosity, but I couldn't hear it in my room so it didn't really bother me. The hotel is pretty clean but not the cleanest I've stayed in. One of the days I was there, I left the room at 11 AM, and when I returned at night the room had not been serviced. Not catastrophic, but not really an acceptable mistake either. The room is pretty comfortable, not luxurious, but not spartan either. There was a nice refrigerator in my room, which was helpful. IMPORTANT TIP : While the hotel is extremely convenient to the highway, the airport, and within about 15 minutes of a lot of excellent dining options, Upon arrival at night there is really nowhere to eat. So if you're arriving late bring your own food!! Also the breakfast is really sub-par for this type of hotel. The coffee had a metallic taste, usually indicative of the urn needing to be cleaned. And the pastries were stale. Again, no big problem, I went to a supermarket (surprisingly difficult to locate) and brought my own granola bars into the room. So the bottom line...the hotel is fine but nothing to write home about. I'm returning to Hartford for business in a few months, and I may very well stay here again, with slightly lower expectations. Hopefully they will improve the breakfast and fix the strange humming by then.
Our king room was roomy and clean. There were luggage trolleys available, large elevators and a free breakfast. The staff was friendly. There was just one little thing that bothered us. A hum. A constant hum that would not cease. At first we thought it was the fan in the bathroom but when we left the room, we found the hum was even louder in the hallway. We were on the second floor, and I am not sure how many rooms were in range of this constant annoyance. Hotels cannot control noise from the surrounding area, but something should be done to ensure the inside environment of the hotel is quiet. We called the front desk and asked about the noise and if anything could be done about it. The persons at the desk were not helpful. We used our earplugs and got a good night's sleep in spite of the constant hum. The hum was still going the next morning when we rolled our bags down the hall to the elevator. I hope they fixed it, but if the attitude was any indicator, I expect whatever is causing that noise is still humming away. If you are sensitive and need quiet to sleep, this may not be the right place to stay.
Had a king size room with desk and accent chair. Room was clean and roomy. Staff was very friendly and courteous . Only downside was the complimentary breakfast which was limited and just ok in quality. But you're not staying there for the food. You won't be disappointed with the room.
Hotel was clean and updated. We did not use any of the services provided other than the shuttle service, which was efficient. All the staff were friendly, efficient and thorough. We would definitely stay here again!
We were in Hartford for the Women of Faith Conference and were happy not to have to drive and to have the shuttle each day take us to the XL Center. The downside was waiting at the end of each day to return since there were so many also waiting. We wound up taking a taxi but there were four of us, so that was OK. We were happy to just walk to a restaurant after a long day on Saturday, and the Chowder Pot IV was excellent. A real bonus!
Clean, large room, recently renovated. Breakfast included. Omelet, sausage, pancakes, oatmeal and fruit available. Courteous staff. Shuttle available for our conference. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend it. Costs less than the "Downtown" hotels. 5 minute drive into the city.
Stayed for a huge convention at XL center, slept on comfy beds, ate sausage eggs ar free breakfast, friendly shuttle free to downtown, free parking added up to an excellent experience at a great price.Earned my business everytime I am in town.
I loved my stay here. I met my husband here for a night while I was working in NY, and he was working in Boston. Perfectly clean hotel and room, it's a great location right off the highway. Free parking lot. The bed was SO comfortable. Room was huge, we had a king bed with a couch, tv and desk.
Very nice rooms at this property, a bit out of the way of major attractions but very close to us-91. Large 40 inch flat screens in the rooms with newer beds and furniture. If your looking for a quiet clean hotel for a great price this is it. They have a pool and workout room and whirlpool, but I didn't use them but they looked good.
I stayed here because I had an interview at Hartford Hospital nearby. This hotel far exceeded my expectations! The hotel has been recently redone and I could tell. The eating area was modern. The lounge area had a new TV as well as modern business workstations. The manager was extremely kind, and even gave me an umbrella to borrow when he saw I was going out in the rain. The most unexpected feature was the room. The room was very large with a separate area with a couch and table, as well as a full sized desk and modern chair. There was also a sink and a fridge. The best feature was the bed! The bed was probably the most comfortable hotel bed! Overall the room felt very clean. There was a free shuttle to the hospital, and the manager was very accommodating with regards to this shuttle. He even suggested that I keep my car in hotel parking lot (even after checking out) in order to take the shuttle to and from the hospital. There is no restaurant in the hotel, but next door there is a really great seafood restaurant with wonderful chowder. I went on a Wednesday night, and this restaurant was very full. The only negative was that my wake-up call came about 10 minutes late (thankfully I had set my phone alarm, so it didn't make a difference). Overall, great and unexpected experience.
good place to stay, plenty of parking.room was clean and bed and pillows were comfortable.extremely quiet room as did not hear any noise in the two nights we stayed.breakfast was excellent as there was a good selection such as bacon, sausage, eggs, bagels, muffins, yogurt ,fruit, cereal, juice, milk, coffee,All the hot food was hot.the lady doing the breakfast did a great job.Only minor complaint was heater in room made a slight noise when blowing heat which was a little irratating on second night.
My family and I were on an emergency. The Staff at Best Western secured a room for us when rooms were booked; were very compassionate to our situation and assured our comfort while meeting our needs. Their warmth, friendliness, caring and words of comfort uplifted us in our tragedy.
We are here for my daughter's softball tournament and planned to kick back for the evening and watch the Series in our hotel room. Well, our room could not get Fox. There was ONE employee on duty, who was help - tried but had no training or support. Finally, by the 8th inning she managed to managed to get the game on in another guest room and moved us. But super frustrating....Last time EVER at a BW. Kudos to the employee for working so hard to correct a bad situation, but should never have happened or been so understaffed.
The Best Western Hartford Hotel and Suites is a big property, so be prepared if you book rooms here. The long---really long--hallways make lugging suitcases and walking to the breakfast room a time-consuming process. Let them know if you have anyone in your party with mobility issues. We didn't, and we had to adjust for her needs. It is a convenient location, but it was not typical of most Best Western facilities in my opinion.
Property has pretty lobby and great breakfast. Room was nicely decorated with comfy beds. Wasn't comfortable with groups of people right outside the front door smoking...or no close restaurants...or not in the best location. Just be prepared.
Our family was looking for a hotel to stay in as we went to visit Hartford University. All the "name" brand major hotels were so priced through the roof it forced us to look elsewhere. Found Best western near the airport and the pricing was fantastic, basically about half the price of the name hotels. Looked up the reviews on TA (of course!) and didn't hesitate. WELL WORTH THE STAY!!! Clean comfortable rooms, the bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on and the location was about two minutes from all major highways! Please do not hesitate to stay at this hotel, because it is a 5-10 minute ride outside of Hartford, people may thnk twice, but don't the money you save, the clean room and wonderful staff make it worth it!!!
Entire hotel newly renovated! Great (free) breakfast. I've been staying here for about ten years on a regular basis. Service is consistently superb. Kevin, Eddie and the entire staff ensure that all needs are met. They go above and beyond. Any problems, which are rare, are addressed immediately.
Clean, very good free breakfast, easy check out. Good seafood restaurant next door with great bartenders. Very friendly staff. Will stay there again. Lobby was very big with lots of room to work if you did not want to work out of your room.
I'm normally not a fan of airport hotels, but we needed to pick up two people from Bradley in the morning, so I chose this Best Western. We'd been on a road trip all week, staying in hotels and motels throughout New England. Most were fine, but this was the only one with a refrigerator, and boy, I really missed that! The bed was really comfortable and pillows fluffy. The room was large, so was the bath. It was really, really quiet, something I didn't expect at an airport hotel. Breakfast was good, they had nice fluffy biscuits! Check in, was courteous and efficient. If you need a hotel in the Windsor or Springfield, MA area, this one is very well priced, quiet, and comfortable.
We will stay here again. It was clean and updated. The exercise room was nice. It had a pool as well. A vending machine and ice maker that was working. Easy check in and check out. Loved the big TV. Free WiFi. The breakfast was fine. Not 5 star but good basic choices that include bacon and microwave omelets and a pancake making machine. Needed more seating by the food. Needed to empty the garbage more often. Easy access off highway. No views but not a problem.
We just needed a place to sleep and get some breakfast. We were on our way home from a college visit and had a youth football game on Sunday so we decided to stay in Hartford. The choices were Best Western or Days Inn. Accidentally we went to the Days Inn first. BOO YUCK!. I was happy to find out we were in the wrong place. So we went next door to Best Western. It was clean. The rooms were updated and comfortable. Loved the TV. Love the coffee, microwave and small fridge. Breakfast was fine. Not 5 star good but enough to fill our bellies. Seating was difficult and the garbage needed to be emptied but those were minor complaints. Nice exercise room. We have s child that goes to college in Hartford and if we ever need to stay over we will go to Best Western again for sure.
My husband and I first stayed at this hotel in February 2015, after getting caught in a nor'easter. It was an unplanned two-day stay, but we were comfortable and cozy the whole time. We chose this hotel when returning to Hartford in September 2015 and were not disappointed. Parts of the hotel were still undergoing renovations during our first stay, and the end result is worth it. The rooms have a nice, roomy layout and nicely updated decor -- bright and modern. The dining area also has a nice layout with various table heights and a couch. The food options are typical Best Western breakfast, but they are good quality (and Best Western has the best breakfast menu I've ever come across for an economy brand). The hotel's location offers easy access to the freeway without appearing to be overpass-adjacent. The wireless internet is fast and reliable, even with multiple devices connected. It's also worth noting that during the winter storm, we never saw a lag in service -- and were pleasantly surprised to find even the full breakfast layout each morning.
