Very nice hotel with friendly stuff, central in middle of Gouda and with excelent parking options. Very good breakfast and a comfortable Suite. Special Thanks to Eva at the reception. For our next trip to Goude we will come back to Best Western City Hotel Gouda
My music grouo of 40 had a great time here. Excellent rooms, clean, fantastic choice at breakfast, bar stayed open later if we asked. One or two minor problems (with shower drainage) sorted immediately. Staff friendly. When an outdoor concert venue was was wet the manager allowed us to dismantle the dining room so we could perform in that space. Quiet...no noise late at night in the corridors.
This hotel is very good. I was here for business reasons and it has everything you need. It doesn't serve food besides breakfast but not a problem as a short walk to lots of other options. Room was spacious, bed comfortable, breakfast selection very nice particularly the fresh breads. Very clean as well. Overall would recommend.
Visited Gouda for business travel. This was the second time staying here and the stay didn't disappoint. The rooms are clean, friendly staff, great breakfast within the hotel and the proximity to the center center is a very convenient walk with additional access to shops, cafes, and restaurants. Would recommend for business or leisure stays.
The hotel was conveniently located and very clean. The staff was excellent. Helpful and kind. For example, Daniel in the dining room fetched breakfast for my 8 year old after breakfast was closed. Michael at the front desk called several taxi companies until he found one that could drive us to the airport at our desired time. Would stay again.
An excellent hotel with comfortable rooms, we did get an upgrade to a large room, friendly staff and good breakfast. Good base to explore the town Car parking, with good sized spacing, under the hotel, see the hotel website for details of pre booking, is very convenient.
Great hotel both for Business and leisure. Carparking in adjacent building and Quick accessoires from main roads. City centre with cheese Market and churcg Just minutes away. Spacious room, extensive breakfast, nice staff! Loved the historical entourage, pictures and glass stained windows.
Nice, centrally located hotel with good parking facilities, easily accessible coming into the town. Large comfortable and stylish rooms and efficient staff. The breakfast is pretty good if rather pricy. Would recommend for a business trip or as a base for a city trip.
The hotel is located next to the city center but it was still very easy to arrive by car, too (however, hotel guests don't get any discount if they park their cars to the parking garage under the hotel). The room was really spacious and offered really nice view over the roofs of Gouda. However, the bathroom was weird as... there wasn't any! There was a sink next to the garderobe and the shower was in a small recess next to it - there was no door of any kind in the shower! It was ok with small kids but many families could find it a bit uncomfortable with teenagers...? Fortunately the water closet was in a small Spartan room of its own... The breakfast was ok but I certainly expected a bit more with this price. Like bigger selection of fruits and maybe some fish...
Have to give this hotel five stars. It ticks all the boxes. Well appointed room with windows that open to allow fresh air into the room. Seperate toilet and shower. Climate control and a fridge. Room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The icing on the cake was the very friendly and helpful staff.
Brilliant hotel. Comfy, excellent value and good location. We were here on a cycling holiday and bike storage was good. Excellent rooms, bit odd bathroom but all good. Would definitely come back. Staff nice and friendly and location is good for exploring
We stayed here for one night as a part of our bike tour. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast had so much to offer. Our room was large and decorated very unique (a complete wall had a picture of Gouda cheese and the walls in the bathroom complete lit up!). I took a relaxing bath. The water was hot and the bed was incredibly comfortable. You were in easy walking distance to the downtown area. We would stay here again!
This hotel is walking distance to the train station and city center. There are many good restaurants in the area. It was also easy walk to many local historic sights. Had the weather cooperated we were also close to a bike rental shop. BTW no review on the restaurant.
Very nice and quite place, super staff, delicious food, and great services. In addition to all of this, location is very important in the middle of the city close to train station and city center as well A nice walk in the morning beside channel with ducks and beautiful flowers
Great stay for family & friends. This hotel provides all you need for weekend trip to Gouda centrally located, great service and very friendly staff. Parking in the garage is very close to the hotel entry and prices are around 12-14 € / day Only as a Diamond select member I would ha e expected some more benefits including upgrade to a better room category, but bit sure if there is any better category. However, standard rooms are also good. We highly recommend to visit Gouda Cheese Experience just 8-10mim walking distance from the hotel
We came to Gouda for a few days break and for me to come back to visit family as my father is from Gouda . We have stayed here before as hotel is central to what we want to do although this time we did feel the staff were a bit ‘off' with us for no reason. Also the bar wasn't opened much considering it was new years. There were buckets around because of leaks which wasn't very safe. Overall we like the room and car park but I'm deciding if I'll stay again.
The Best Western Plus City Hotel Gouda offers skylights and lots of natural light: a lovely eco-hotel with a friendly and helpful staff. It's convenient location is walking distance from the city center, and rooms offer a great view of the canals.
Great location to walk into Gouda. Hotel is modern and clean. Slightly quirky colour scheme in the room (yellow and black) and unusual shower but we liked it! Breakfast was very good, with a nice selection. Staff were friendly and welcoming.
Very nice hotel, comfortable in all aspects, great breakfast, short walk to city center. Was easy to find street parking. The only frustrating problem is that wi-fi signal was virtually non-existent - be aware of it.
Stayed one night as a weekend get-away with the wife, it was great. Will certainly come back. Nice bathtub, nice breakfast and very good service. Located within the limits of the old city, just a lovely 5-minute walk away from the main square. I would travelers would also love it, for the location is great also to connect from Gouda to other cities (just by the city ring).
Enjoyed a great stay in the city and hotel. I upgrade to a suite which was well worth it. Excellent size and amenities. The hotel is a short walk to the train and Main Street, restaurants everywhere. Staff very friendly
Pit stop on our road trip back to the UK. Luckily the week before Government reintroduced quarantine. Lovely place full of charisma and charm. It was a warm afternoon and the plaza was buzzing with life in Gouda. Hotel was nice and clean, and they had take huge precautions re the current Covid situation. Gouda is obviously known for its cheese.
The Best Western is located in the center of Gouda, at 5 - 10 minutes by walk from the city center. There is also a public parking nearby. The staff has been very welcoming. All the measures related to the sanitary crisis seemed very well organized: sanitizers in the lobby, one way lift, management of the breakfast buffet in order to avoid crowded hours... The room was very nice: clean, extremely well equipped and quiet during the night. For me this is an excellent address at a reasonable cost.
We stayed at this hotel for the first time during one of our numerous trips in the beautiful Zeeland. This hotel is very well located in a calm area, easily reachable by car, close to a parking but, most important, at a very short walking distance from the centre of the beautiful city of Gouda. The hotel deserves its 4 stars and is very well decorated with very friendly and helpful employees. The rooms are large with high quality bedding. Rooms are very well equipped, clean and well maintained. The only point of improvement is that the bathroom is not separated and consist in a bathroom combined with shower. The access to the bath and the shower is not easy (too high) and given the proximity with the bed, you cannot have a shower either at early morning or evening without switching on lights and hence waking up your partner. I would also strongly recommend the use of an anti-slippery nap as I find this is very useful and safe if you do not take your shower in a shower cabin. Given the Covid19 situation, the breakfast was served at table i.o. the traditional buffet. However, we could have a good overview of the quality and quantity of food that is available and had a very enjoyable breakfast before a busy day with a good mix of salty and sweet food. We could also taste the restaurant that is inside the hotel. We had a splendid 3 course diner that we all enjoyed. The food is very well prepared, of very good quality and very well presented. The service is friendly and helpful. I recommend this place for discovering Gouda and surroundings and especially with such a good return on money.
We booked an executive twin room for an off season long week-end at this hotel and were rather disappointed with our stay. Our room (N. 317) was reasonably sized and the bedding was comfortable but there were many downsides. The room had a separate loo but no real ‘bathroom', just a basin behind a low wall and a bath in a claustrophobic bath-sized niche we had to climb into to have a shower. Very unpractical and even dangerous, especially for people with mobility issues, because the bath is very slippery. There were no bathrobes nor slippers and, except for one shower cap (for three days), no complimentary toiletries. The room had no wardrobe, only an open rack with a drawer and those irritating fixed coat hangers. No coat pegs either.. There was no minibar, only an empty fridge, and no bottle of water was offered on arrival (water was on sale at the reception desk). There was no coffee machine, only a kettle for instant coffee or tea. And one biscuit a day per person. So very Dutch! In the hotel lobby there was a (free) coffee machine with an ‘out of order sign'. To our disappointment the room had no view whatsoever. It was even rather gloomy because the windows are looking out onto a red-brick wall. On a stormy night, despite the double glazing, we were kept awake by the wind howling in the narrow space between the two walls and the rain hammering on what sounded like a metal roof or metal window sills. When we arrived on a cold February day the temperature in the room was 19° Celsius (66,2 °F )and we didn't manage to turn up the heating or find an extra blanket. For a hotel housed in a plain building the corridors and the breakfast room were surprisingly nicely done up. The corridors on all floors have beautiful large pictures of the major sights in Gouda. We walked past all of them by way of introduction to the city and wrote down the names of things we didn't want to miss. Service isn't great at this Best Western. The first evening we noticed the bulb of the floor lamp was broken. So, we unscrewed it – it was so old it just crumbled - and left it on a paper napkin on the desk assuming staff would replace it. As they didn't, we took it down to reception the next morning and were told new lamps had been ordered. When we left, the bulb had still not been replaced. There were no wine glasses in the room and glasses we used were not rinsed. The buffet-style breakfast was adequate but the products on offer were industrial. Even the thinly sliced Gouda cheese wasn't especially good. Although the breakfast room faces an open kitchen, breakfast eggs are not made to order. It's either hard-boiled eggs or pre-cooked scrambled eggs. The unsmiling girl who came to take away used plates without a word made us feel uncomfortable. For those like us who arrive by train, the location of this hotel is far from ideal. Both the station and the hotel are situated out of the centre, but not in the same direction. As there was no bus from the hotel to the centre, we had ample time to get soaked before reaching the centre on foot.
We stayed here for 1 night as part of a cycling holiday of the Netherlands. We were welcomed warmly and shown where to securely store our bicycles in the hotel's secure bicycle parking area. We enjoyed a nice dinner that night within the hotel. We found the hotel's location good for exploring Gouda on foot.
I have stayed here twice a year for a couple of nights over the last 4 years on business and the hotel has always been of a consistantly good standard. Good staff, nice room, good breakfast a good place to stay,
I have stayed there 4th time in the last 4 years. We did come here to celebrate a special moment but our stay was a real disapointment. We were assigned a room facing the trash outside, making even worst by noisy trash collecting truck early morning, shower was leaking (I wonder how this kind of thing are not check by the housemaid or crew on regular basis). We were expecting a romantical getaway, it was all but not romantic. Don't expect either to get a drink during the afternoon, bar is not open before at least 5pm, according to reception there is no official opening time of the bar. So definitely not the best romantic getaway I was expecting in Gouda.
This Best Western hotel was clean and the rooms were quite spacious (Comfort Room). However, we did not have very good wifi. We asked the front desk about it and they replied with a shoulder shrug and that our room was known for having the best wifi service. We had one bar at best while in the room but the wifi in the lobby and restaurant was great so we would just sit down there to use it. This would have been a very unfortunate situation if we had been there for work or longer than one night.
The Best Western is the best place to stay in Gouda. It's location, it's cleanliness and lovely decor make it the ideal place to relax after a hard day's work. I have stayed there 3 times and would stay again.
Hotel located close to the city center of Gouda. Friendly but inexperienced front desk staff, clean rooms and a decent breakfast buffet. Good WiFi but no gym. However, there is a gym next door that you can visit for 9 EUR.
Great hotel, reasonably priced and very close to town centre. Good parking, great wifi and spotless clean. The staff are very helpful and pleasant, This was a return visit and I'm sure we'll use again in the future
We spent one night at this hotel and it's a very modern, comfortable choice for visiting Gouda. The hotel location is excellent, an easy 10 min walk to the main square of Gouda along the canal and a pedestrian shopping street. The hotel is in a historic building that has been totally modernized. Everything is very new and clean, and in excellent condition. The rooms are ultra-modern, with good use of space. Bathroom facilities are new too. Our room looked onto an open courtyard of the hotel, but it was very quiet. We did not think the air conditioning was adequate; we wanted it cooler but could not get the temperature cool enough to our liking, however we were able to keep the window open due to lack of noise. Breakfast is a very full buffet and the woman in charge of the breakfast room was very friendly and helpful. The front desk staff was a little variable - at check-in, the person was polite but otherwise not very welcoming. At check-out, the person was much more friendly, maybe because it was less busy. It seemed like the best option for Gouda and obviously a lot of business people use the hotel. We had a very pleasant stay and would stay there again.
The hotel was great - breakfast had everything you could want, the staff was helpful, the beds were comfy. We stay in one of the suites, which was very nice and had extra room and a very nice bathtub.
We stayed here for 2 nights, I liked this hotel we parked out motorcycle outside and the first thing the reception said to me, was the police will give you a ticket, if you go and park in our Garage (Q park) then I will have you checked in, true to her word she did, also said to pay parking at reception as this was the cheapest option, a very nice welcome. The room was lovely, air con did not seem to work very well but that is hotel air con no matter what hotel it never work effectively. It is only a very short walk to the town centre we walk down and ate at one of the market square restaurants although the hotel does do meals of an evening, we did use the bar and found the staff to be very pleasant. Breakfast was very nice although we found it difficult to get a seat, they had a lot of tables reserved for a group and half the room roped off. Will I use this hotel again yes next time I'm in Gouda I will it's a handy stop off for the ferry's back to the UK.
booked room for 2 w/o.breakfast. First room we got had a bed missing one leg.(First one for us) got new (not upgraded room) where A/C didn't work (midst of the heatwave) also fridge for cooling bottled-water Didn't work -just produced Lots of additionel heat (safe?) Rooms of all ok standard/size as expected for price. -Got 2 bottles of cold water as comp for fridge not working... Too HOT and humid at night so cancelled night two-No problem with that. On arrival card-key to room not working,so had to go down to reception to re-activate again. underground Parking at side of building (+€10 pr day) Good space /Secure = + Staff at reception nice and positive,do they have an instruction of Not upgrading?
Wonderful location everything within 5 minutes walk! Nice staff, breakfast with hagelslag! Good coffee if the line is not too long. Easy parking and reasonable prices. Incredible restaurant next door.
We stayed at this hotel for the last 5 years. Every time for at least 4 to 5 weeks. We had not had a bad experience from any staff member. If anything they go out of their way to help. In the restaurant Dina was very good in the restaurant and Leonieke in reservations and sales always make us feel extra special. We come from New Zealand and this is our only holiday for the year. We highly recommend this hotel in Gouda.
The hotel is just on the outskirts of the city, in a quiet spot. But you can easily walk to the centre, where sights and restaurants are. We had a package deal which included B&B and one dinner. Spacious room, with some interesting variations on the standard configuration. I.e. the toilet was separate, behind a door. The wash stand was in the bedroom, behind a half-high wall. Walk in shower behind wall, next to wash stand, no door. It didn't bother us, there was space enough for everything. Comfortable beds, enough cupboards etc. to put down your things. Nice, varied breakfast buffet. The dinner was good but not spectacular. Although it was fixed for the package deal, the did allow some variations. Freindly staff. Good wifi.
We had nearly been duped out €93 at another hotel before finding this one. We rang ahead to say we were on a cycling holiday and needed a break. We were offered a twin room for €88 and secure storage for our bikes. The room is delightful. It's spacious and clean with great facilities. The receptionist couldn't do enough for us, she moved beds apart as requested, carried luggage and was absolutely charming. We should have been on our bikes cycling towards Delft but have enjoyed our experience so much have decided to stay another night. By choice this price was without breakfast.
A very nice modern hotel with a beautiful breakfast area. Rooms have everything you need. The location is spot on - a short walk/cycle into the centre of Gouda. Plenty of nice places to eat nearby. Very good secure bike storage facilities. Gouda is a beautiful place to visit.
We used the hotel as part of a week long cycling trip on the cheese and sea route of the Netherlands and found it to be well positioned, clean, tidy and with friendly staff. The rooms were well renovated and the breakfast of a very good quality. A suggestion will be to stock the mini bar in the room as we would have used - and paid for it.
Stayed one night on a cycle tour. Parking available for bicycles. Room was very good - fairly new and spacious. Good breakfast though busy with tour group. Lighter bedding in summer wood be good, but that seems to be the case in all European hotels!
Again, don't let the name of a motel chain fool you. This is a great and trendy hotel in a great location. We had a corner room, or shall we call it a suit. Separate lounge, huge bathroom with free standing bath and huge shower. Friendly service and a funky restaurant and bar at a very reasonable price.
We usually stay in 5 Star hotels, not snobs, just like to stay in nicer places when on Vacation. This Hotel was one of the only hotels in Gouda and we stopped in at around 6 pm as my wife had to use the toilet. Ended up sitting at the Bar because the place was so nice and talked with a local businessman that was staying there. He convinced us to stay there! Went to the front desk and negotiated a great one night stay price with Breakfast, and ended up spending one of our BEST Days in Gouda. DON"T miss this place! I says 4 stars everywhere but I don't know why??? This is 5 Stars in my book! Better than several of the 5 Star hotels we've stayed at in other places we have visited. I don't think many tourists find Gouda as the prices were VERY reasonable!
Our room was very well appointed and we were impressed by how well the space was used. Clean and efficient as we would expect from Best Western. The restaurant attached is apparently very good but we didn't eat there exc eat for breakfast which was very good.
The 4 star Best Western Plus city Hotel is situated alongside one of the many small canals in the centre of the pituresque , old city of gouda, in the centre og the Netherlands. The quiet backside , airconditioned rooms have a view on a part of the small harbour. The best rooms are on the 3rd floor ( 306 and 304 have interconnectig door!) .Perfect staff, front desk as well as restaurant. Just 10 minutes walk to the 15th century , gothic style city hall.
The hotel was in a great location - close enough to all the tourist attractions but far enough not to feel crowded. Very friendly staff. Definitely to be recommended. Will definitely consider them for my next visit.
great location and price. the room was very comfortable and quiet. no complaints and really appreciated the relatively low cost compared to other, smaller hotels we stayed in. the breakfast biffet was lavish - the best of the sort i've experienced in a long time.
We were on a self guided 2 week cycle trip from Amsterdam to Antwerp & used Gouda as a stop over. Couldn't find anything more interesting to stay in but was very pleasantly surprised to stay at a Best Western. They are sort of set up for cyclists & the huge buffet breakfast is perfect to make yourself a travel sandwich. The rooms are simple clean & spacious. The upstairs bar right next door is in an old light factory is a fun vibrant place for a drink or casual dinner. Easy cycle the next morning to get to Kinderdijk to see the windmills.
In fairness, the beds were comfortable and the breakfast more than adequate. Wifi worked reasonably well. However, I didn't find the plastic wall panelling at all tasteful; the open plan bathroom was not just distasteful but also impractical. The staff did their best but their computer system does not allow for flexibility or twin-bed rooms, although the receptionist did at least find a second quilt. The bike park is quite a hike around 2 corners but it does have sockets to charge batteries if you get there early enough.
I stay here twice a month and it really is an excellent hotel. The staff are charming and very helpful with nothing being too much trouble. The rooms are simple but superbly clean and the shower, towels, coffee & tea in the room are all great. Breakfast is a super buffet with coffee and juices from machines. The highlight is the team on reception - just the nicest people to greet you after a long days travelling. Gouda is beautiful ad with the hotel being central you can walk into town to sample the numerous restaurants.
My wife and I were visiting Gouda, Netherlands for the celebrations on Kings Day and booked 2 nights in an executive room via the Best Western web site. The room itself was well presented, but there was nothing for us to use in the room. There was an empty fridge, no bottles of water, no shower caps, not the usual sanitiser items you would expect - nothing at all! Even the coffee sachets were ‘hidden' beneath a tray. The first night we visited Gouda and we arrived back at the hotel after midnight to find the outside door locked. There was no one in reception and no response to ringing the doorbell. We were finally helped by some locals who banged on the windows until someone came to let us into the hotel. The first morning we spoke to reception and they advised that it was policy to not provide items in the room, but certain items were available free of charge on request. On check out after two nights we were advised that we could have saved €40 per night for the same executive room (€80 in total) if we had booked direct with the hotel instead of via Best Western website. We were not pleased and asked for a refund only to be told that was not possible! We could perhaps get a reduction on a future visit. Overall the visit was a bad experience. We will not visit Best Western in future. They do not put the customer first. People should be aware that they should book direct with the hotel to get the best price - not via the Best Western web site.
Location is nice and hotel is also good. Room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was average (cost was 16.5€). Its standard can be improved. Parking was available in an underground area and its cost was 10€.
I really enjoyed my stay in this hotel... Very varied breakfast..the room was very clean and comfortable. I really liked the hotel because it is near to the center of Gouda. The staff is very kind too. I suggest it!!
Had a 3 night stay. Room clean and well laid out. Breakfast buffet was extensive and well stocked. Restaurant has a limited range, but the burger I had was excellent. Staff friendly and efficient. A thoroughly pleasant place to stay if you are visiting Gouda.
I stayed at the Best Western Gouda end of March 2019. My room (201) had not wifi reception. Issue was known to staff and was not fixed during the stay. No compensation was offered. The vending machines on floor 2 did also not work properly, I had to call staff twice to get a drink out of the machine. On the last day, room service took one of my private blankets and washed it. Result was that I did not get my blanket back before I checked out. On check out day, I asked for a 1 hour extension of check out time (from 12 to 1 pm) which they offered for Euro 25. Given all the other malfunctions I experienced and got no compensation for I think that managements oversight needs to be strengthened.
Central location in the old city, approx. 11 minutes from the trainstation. Quiet location, parking is next door available at the Q park Bolwerk - Sint Mariewal 3, 2801 WH Gouda. Dining available at the hotel's restaurant but the menu is limited, then again it is downtown so plenty of choice available nearby.
Was there on business and it is central and an excellent hotel. I have stayed in other hotels in the area over the past 20 years and Best Western is by far the most convenient for myself and company visited. Good hotel - really nice rooms with a bath! Orange colour scheme grows on you! Strange clothes hanging over suitcase. Suitcase bench bit too small for my big case. Excellent temperature control and wifi. Restaurant good and good Italian/ pizza right next door. Walking distance to restaurants in Gouda central.
The hotel is situated walking distance from the city centre. Also its fast to get out of the city the explore around Gouda. Its nice simple hotel with nice personell. Parking as well though not for free. Breakfast was good and with lots of choice. Good place to stay!
Went to visit family for New Years and decided to treat ourselves and stay in a hotel rather than family. Hotel was central to Gouda town which was good so were able to walk to the bars shops and ice skating in the market square. Staff were friendly and room was cleaned and cleaned every day.
If you want to get good stop-over in Gouda, come to this hotel next to everything. Very comfortable but so international with fancy tags which not allow to back to your room after the breakfast. The staff is very friendly but sometimes we have only one personnel for the WE. Breakfasts were absolutely excellent and saved the cold nights. When you are coming from South Hemisphere and you land in Holland during a cold and dry autumn day, we want your room warm. But unfortunately the device for the heater was not working and no extra blankets. We asked for support but nobody came to verify the heater. We had a suites for two nights and we except a comfort.
If you want to get really good time in Gouda, come to this place. Very comfortable, the stuff is very friendly. Second time, year by year we got the room upgraded. Breakfast is absolutely excellent. Warmly recommend
Was here for business so was not expecting a tourist town, but this was great for a 3 night stay. Hotel was nice with space for a European hotel. Clean and comfy bed. Got alittle warm on the third floor until I opened the windows. Shower and sink are basically open to the bedroom which may be alittle weird for some. Access to full gym was really nice and it had a restaurant and small bar. Nothing fancy. Right next to a really good restaurant LH Gouda and about 10 mins wald from center of town. Overall better than expected.
We stayed one night in this hotel. It was clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful. I left my wedding rings in the room and I was able to call a couple of hours later. The staff found them and they were waiting for us when we returned to pick them up!
This hotel is situated adjacent to a canal just a few minutes walk away from the centre. It is modern, clean and comfortable. There is a car park immediately adjacent to the hotel with direct access via a lift. The tea and coffee making facilities provided are a little sparse there is unexpectedly for a four star hotel no bottled water supplied in the room fridge. Overall a decent hotel in a great location for a reasonable price.
We had a very comfortable overnighter here which, for a chain hotel, turned out much better than we had expected. The rooms and corridors appear to have been recently decorated and the blue, grey and brown colours were subdued and calming. After a couple of stops without it was also nice to have tea & coffee-making facilities in the room, which was large and had a nice view over the canal. Good also to have secure storage for our bikes, although you have to go right round the block to find the access gate. We were impressed by the breakfast choice and the efficiency of the staff who kept the buffet items stocked up and cleared away tables.
We arrived on Friday for a 3 night stay and checked in in our room. The cjeck in procedure was good.In the evening we went out for a dinner and when we came back the problems started. When we came back to out hotel around 1.15 AM then the entrance doors where closed and no one answered when we used the phone at the entrance. We tried to bang at the doors, call the hotel with our mobile phones without any success. After a good 20 minutes in the middle of the night we decided that we had to try to find a taxi to take us to another hotel when a police car passed by. We asked to police for assistance and they banged even harder at the doors and used their flash lights. Finally a man came and opened the entrance door by that time there where several other guests that also where waiting outside the entranceWe complained but the reply was only that they could be at the reception all time and other explanations. No excuses or compensation was offered.Next day: Saturday we wanted to call the reception from our room in the evening around 20.00 pm but again they did not answer. I walked down to the reception to find a man standing there, he told me that the reception was closed at the moment but they will be back in 20 minutes..I believe that to earn 4 stars they hotel should provide a working 24 hours reception and not let their guests wait outside in the middle of the night, it is quite scary since it is dark and no people there..Other than that we had only minor complaints: The safe was looked and a couple of lamps did not work. We had ask the to fix that. I think that they should have checked the room better before letting new guests have it. The location in the room of the toilet and shower is funny as other guets commented. The toilet door is not possible to lock.I would only stay in this hotel again if I have no other options..
Excellent hotel situated a short walk from the city square. Good size room with a separate toilet to the bathroom. Hotel gets all pluses from us - except, although the aircon fan worked, there was minimal cooling into the room. Extremely helpful and pleasant staff. Good reliable Wi-Fi. Excellent breakfast available. (Starts 7.30am on weekends ). Safe storage for bicycles.
This Best Western in Gouda is a very nice hotel. Clean room, wonderful staff, easy walk to the downtown pedestrian areas, a bit pricey. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a chain hotel in Gouda.
We were there for a long weekend and the hotel is good. It's a bit of a shame that there is no where to be able to sit outside near the door.... it looks like there is enough room for at least a few tables and chairs... having said that quite convenient for the centre and comfortable.
Spent one night with two rooms. Best Westerns can be a bit "hit or miss" but this one was extremely nice. The check in was quick and pleasant. The parking was literally out the front door. Admittedly I got lucky and was able to find a free spot on the street in front of the hotel but it was very nice to have such a close spot and it goes to show it is possible to get street parking at a cheaper rate. The Rooms were modern, nicely decorated and clean. The beds were comfortable and our room came with coffee and tea service. The wifi was strong and the breakfast was plentiful and had a nice variety. Overall, Could not complain about the stay and would come back again. Gouda city center is a five minute walk and is worth a leisurely walk. You will find shops and restaurants and even a Albert Hjein and Jumbo if you need snacks or groceries. You can walk the city center in an hour or less. Not sure how much the public parking garage was but it was surely more than street parking.
Reception staff well informed and very helpful. Stayed in room 133, good sized twin room. Clever use of space for storage but don't expect a standard closed in wardrobe! Cute kettle with proper cups but lacked any creamer/milk substitute so get your milk at the Albert heijn supermarket in market square. Parking is via “bolwerk” car park, underground, air conditioned, piped music, secure, discounted to €10 per 24hrs. Powerful shower with nice shower gel supplied. Town is a 5-10min walk, lovely area with beautiful streets and canals. Can recommend the Central cafe in market square for great lunch and evening meal. Breakfast at hotel was good but not worth €15 so try the cafes in the square. Only downside we found was the wi-fi signal pretty weak, lost connection frequently.
Stayed here for 2 nights whilst on a driving holiday. Checking was quick with the receptionist pointing out places of interest of Gouda on a map. Room was large with open plan type bath/ shower. It was clean and tidy, air condition worked well as it was hot outside. The view from the room was a pine end of another building, not a problem. Very good breakfast. The car park attached to the hotel with direct access by lift was clean and tidy and modern. Having a new car I asked the staff, was the car park safe. They replied yes, but it is a public car park and things do happen. Staff were very polite and friendly. I would definitely stay there again.
Check in and check out were slow as receptionist had to multi task. Was not recognized as a loyalty member and was not offered a complimentary drink either. Finally got our key and went to our room which had nice views only to find it hadn't been cleaned yet. Back down to reception and they were very apologetic and gave us a room a few doors down the hall. Unfortunately the view was of waste ground and trash cans. Room itself was spacious and nicely decorated. There was a fridge and kettle with tea and coffee. Airco didn't work very well it was hard to get it below 23 degrees. Slept well too. The hotel didn't offer a light breakfast so wandered into town to buy oj and a couple of croissants. Great car park next to/under the hotel with a special rate.
Really great hotel, close to the city center, clean and new. Breakfast too expensive, so we decided to look for options in the neighborhood. Really efficient staff, and there is a really good restaurant close by. Definitely would recommend it, the only weird thing is the shower area that has no doors, but you stay behind a wall and can be quite cold when leaving the shower, this doesn´t change the nice stay we had!
Wanted to stay somewhere for the cheese festival and it soon becomes apparent that its the only reason anyone goes to Gouda. The Best Western is on the edge of the centre so its easy to drive to and there is parking underneath. Its then a few minutes walk into the centre for restaurants and that vital cheese festival (don't expect too much...). The breakfast is a bit steep, but there are alternatives locally or get an inclusive package. The only weirdness is the shower on our family room, which didn't have a door. Some might find this a barrier to using the shower in the presence of family. I assume this is down to it being a 'wet room' (it certainly was, our towels were soaked after the mop up). All in all though, perfectly acceptable and a pleasant stay. A bit like Gouda really.
My second time in Gouda, this time for a wedding, and needed to find a hotel as we would have stayed with friends but their place was filled up with family. Not too many hotels in Gouda, but this one looked the best and did not disappoint. Friendly staff, great location, amazing breakfast included, clean and stylish rooms, and a large bathtub for relaxing soaks. I would highlt reccommend this hotel.
Stayed for an evening at the hotel. The rooms were spacious and well kept. Showers were adequate and the beds comfortable. Our friends had a flood in their room due to a faulty drain and were only given towels to stop water flow. The staff were not very helpful. We asked for a taxi to be called. After 45min, another guest took the taxi and the front desk offered no apology or follow up call to ensure we could get to the airport. We missed our opportunity to visit the Rotterdam city center and see the sights as the next one did not arrive for another 45min. The gentleman at the front desk, in particular, was rude and unapologetic. Ruined an otherwise good property.
Let me first start by saying that the BW chain has never been one of my favorites. This one has not changed my mind on this but my stay was actually pretty good. The location is excellent with direct access to a public parking and only a short walk from the center square. Check-in was easy and the front desk employee was friendly and professional. The room was very mediocre and especially the bathroom part had been set up in a very strange way. The tub is half hidden behind a wall and you need to climb in to take a shower. It is a little bit like taking a shower in a dark grotto :) Personally I did not like the décor and setup of the room but it was clean and the AC worked. The view from my room was of a wall, so I would try to get a higher room in order to have a decent view. I am not a fan of the open plan bathroom and prefer a traditional setup with a separate bathroom. Probably, other people might like this but I feel it messes too much with the humidity and temperature control of your room. We had a few meetings here and ate several times at the hotel and the catering for our group was simple but good and fresh. Check-out took a very long time - there was only counter available and about 10 people were checking out. Best Western will never be my personal choice (we stayed here with a group for business) but in general the BW Gouda offers a solid standard for a mid-range 4 star hotel. The biggest plus are the employees who genuinely try their best.
Beautifull hotel, straight rooms, clean ... On walking distance to the old city center... A must vist Lange Groenendaal small shops ... Good parking under hotel, a lot of attention fir the Dutch culture!!!
We booked this hotel as a base for some not-too-strenuous cycle touring, and were surprised to find that Gouda is a much more attractive and fascinating town than we'd realised. The centre is very compact, and within easy walking distance of the hotel. The numerous canals and waterways make Gouda like a scaled down version of Amsterdam. Almost every building around the centre seems to have some historical significance, bearing wall plaques explaining their importance. As non-Dutch speakers, we did not always fully understand the plaques, but got the general drift. This rich history features prominently in the hotel's decor, both in the bedrooms and public areas, portraying many of the town's architectural features. The adjacent car park is spacious, clean and safe, with direct access into the hotel. Once parked, the hotel processed the ticket to give us one that allows us to come and go for the length of our visit, at the rate of €10 per day. Well worth the convenience. Other reviews have commented on the layout of rooms, which is a matter of personal taste. Our room was comfortable, with ample seating. There were a couple of housekeeping issues that the hotel resolved, and staff at Reception, in the Restaurant, and in the rooms were all friendly and courteous.
Nothing jumps out as special but a pleasant stay, good location on a very pleasant canal and close to the small central area. Rooms clean, comfortable and good size, all staff friendly and helpful, decent breakfast just all good
Pricey but good value. Good location, Gouda is a lovely town. Nice room. Friendly, helpful staff at reception. Bar/restaurant looked great but we didn't eat there, except breakfast, which was great.Thankyou.
We had three nights at this hotel, with a family of five, three adults and two children, we had adjoining rooms with an internal door. The Hotel was very welcoming and the staff very helpful with anything that we needed. It is within easy walking of the market Square, shops restaurants, banks, bus and rail stations and supermarkets. We only had breakfast there, these are addition 15.75 euros each. There is a café adjoining the hotel which was much cheaper for the main meals and children. Plenty of take away shops close to hand with a variety of choice of foods.
Our room in this modern hotel was a reasonable size and boasted a couple of easy chairs as well as the bed and a desk chair. Our booking didn't include breakfast but this was available though for 15 euro per person and we elected to go elsewhere. The temperature control didn't seem to work but thankfully the windows opened and so we could reduce the heat somewhat. Staff at reception both arriving and leaving were very pleasant. Free Wi-Fi was great and worked well. The hotel is a short walk from the Markt Square mostly down cobbled streets making it a pleasant walk.
The Best Western Plus City is well located and offers nice rooms for a reasonable price. The room itself was comfortable and large enough for my short stay. Breakfast room is well decorated but the breakfast itself was very underwhelming (choice, quality). Also, the bathroom has a walk-in shower. Nothing wrong with this as long as the drain works well. The problem was that it did not and the water was not properly evacuated. Instead it spread in the room unknowingly to me, which turned it into a pond. How that can happen, I am not sure. I would think the cleaning staff should notice this kind of issue. I alerted the reception and they must have cleaned the drain, the next day everything was fine. On a side note, nobody apologized for the annoyance. Assuming this is a rare event, the hotel is alright.
Stayed at this modern hotel just 10 minutes from the centre of Gouda. Nice room with Safe,fridge,tea-making facilities & free Wi-Fi. Good breakfast & dinner , small bar & lounge (hotel used by business people as well as tourists) if required there are lots of cafes & restaurants in the town and a Cheese Museum which gives you the history of cheese making & also a cheese tasting Did a 45 minute drive from Gouda to Keukenhof Gardens which is worth a visit .Beautiful gardens with tulips, daffodils & hyacinth displays .Indoor arrangements have orchids etc & the annual theme this year was "Romance" which included a wedding arrangement including a white horse & carriage Very peaceful woodland walks & water displays & a windmill which you can climb to get a good view of the gardens & also a short boat trip to see more tulips! Lots of cafes & restaurants reasonably priced and areas where you can have your own picnic Very popular so go early Also visited the UNESCO windmills at Kinderdijk which was a very nice area. short boat trip or a nice walkway to the windmills & museum and a couple of cafes after the walk to enjoy the scenery We were very lucky with the weather plenty of sunshine so overall a pleasant trip
Nice, modern, clean and compact room. Great location near the center of the city. We had a nice stay. Breakfast in a modern setting. More than enough choices of breads, fruits, condements, juices, coffee and thee. Nice big historic square wih cityhall from the middle-ages nearby.
Stayed here for one night whilst visiting Holland on a business trip with colleagues from work. We had come for the Green Direct Plant show Hotel was really nice and couldn't fault it The room was more than adequate. Clean warm and comfortable Has a mini fridge a safe a tv a kettle and a a hairdryer. Nice shower too. Breakfast is good with lots of choice and not overcrowded. Served between 7 and 10 Check in and out was really easy the staff are very friendly 10 out of 10
Very nice hotel in the center of Gouda. Clean room with good bed. Nice bar/restaurant. Modern mixtured with old building. Breakfast was excellent. Enough choice and everything fresh. City parking is accessaible through the hotel. The city center is only a à 10 min walk through a nice city. Lot's of restaurants.
We have stayed here with family many times. This time with friends who were equally impressed. The hotel parking makes it possible to forget about the car and the walk into the centre means all sights, restaurants and shops are within easy reach. The rooms are comfortable and modern and the breakfast is excellent.
I was very pleased with my stay at this hotel. I stayed for one night on a bed and breakfast basis. Upon arrival, I was welcomed by friendly, approachable and helpful people at reception who went out of their way to help me and provide me with a map of Gouda. I was very pleased with my bedroom, it was a modern clean and tidy room with tea/coffee making facilities. The bed was very comfortable and with good decent size pillows, I got a great night's sleep. I had ensuite facilities in the bedroom with bath/shower. I found the hotel to be modern, well kept and clean/tidy. Breakfast was also very nice, a good choice of cold foods available and some hot food available as well. There is also a bar downstairs serving alcoholic beverages including beers. The hotel is also within easy walking distance on the main town square. I can fully understand why this hotel gets good ratings and would be happy to stay again.
Well-located hotel on the outskirts of Gouda, itself an excellent city with nice buildings and a good environment. Attentive and smart hotel staff, always willing to help and advise. We travelled by train this time but there is a good car part next door to the hotel. Schiphol Airport is just over 1 hour away by rail and Gouda has good access to other towns and cities in the region.
Had availability at short notice, good reviews, located in city centre and walking distance from shopping & train station. The hotel was good quality, and had a restaurant off reception. Buffet breakfast was included in room rate and had a good selection. Only downfall was that the shower drain was clogged so temporarily flooded the bathroom floor until we were able to fix it ourselves. Overall I would still recommend.
This hotel is on the outskirts of town with its own underground parking garage to acccess on the main roads is easy. Within easy walking of the main attractions. We had a large room in the loft which was quite despite overlooking the road. The dinning room with breakfast is adequate but lacks any atmosphere as a dinner venue
As soon as we walked into the reception of this pleasant hotel, we knew we would find everything to our liking. Danielle made sure there would be nothing we lacked. The room was large and comfortable and the super king bed was firm and dreamy. We had a drink at the bar before going out to dine and breakfast the following morning, which was excellent. Bear in mind that there is one other hotel 'in town' and you'll understand why this property charges more than you might expect. A Bobby's gin & tonic (with 'free' tonic) is nearly Euro 10. A room is at big City pricing.
We have just spent three nights at this great hotel as we were attending a friends wedding in the centre of Gouda. The hotel was ideally located and was easy to find with an excellent underground car park. We had room 102 which had a pleasant view of the canals. The room was well appointed and was very clean. The hotel bar was nice with a reasonable selection of drinks. You must try the local Bobbies Gin!! The staff were all very friendly and helpful and spoke much better English than my attempts at Dutch, but I did try. My only criticism is the early finish for breakfast at 10am. We did not make it down once during our stay which was a shame. Perhaps the management could consider extending breakfast until 11am?
Gouda is an amazing city! Perhaps not on everyone's top 10, but it should be, a must see. And as a must see, this hotel is a must stay! What a hidden gem of a place. It was probably the nicest hotel in all of Europe that we stayed at. Nice, quiet, peaceful atmosphere, with excellent service! A simple walk from the train station, and right near the heart of the old town, within the city walls. We were 5-10 minutes away from everything. The rooms were amazing, they have thought of everything, from convenient power outlets to amazing beds. We slept very well. We were there on vacation and loved every minute. Their breakfast was amazing, and I mean amazing! I'd highly recommend getting your stay with breakfast! What a great way to start the day. I will definitely be back! Everyone, and I mean Everyone at the Front Desk was amazing. What an amazing group of people. The management was excellent, and the whole staff was amazing, make sure to let them know how much we appreciated them. All the girls and the guys that worked the front desk were amazing! Wow, their English was amazing! They were kind, they always smiled, they helped us figure out what to see and do. They were all beautiful, caring individuals that showed that they cared about us and about our enjoyment of their hotel, their city and their culture.
Nice Hotel to stay in when on business, use it regularly when in The Netherlands.friendly staff very helpful. Location is good for ambling into the town Centre Rooms basic but comfortable, buffet breakfast could be improved but does the job.
This is a well positioned hotel to visit historic Gouda. Quite modern, clean and comfortable bedroom. Reasonable size. Restaurant choice was a bit disappointing and although food was tasty we thought it not good value. Car park next door was fairly expensive at 10 euros per day even after hotel discount. Staff were OK but obviously under pressure with seemingly too much to do. Not sure if we would return.
The hotel is well situation on the edge of the beautiful historic centre of Gouda, within 10 minuites walk of the central square and main railway station. Reception staff were freindly and helpful. Rooms were modern imaginatively designed, spotlessly clean with comfortable beds. Unfortunately the ventilation system was a bit noisy and woke me up. Their restaurant served a good breakfast ( at 15 Euros per head you would hope so ) ! I ate there one evening the food was very dispappointing there are far better places to eat in Gouda including the excellent Brunel about 5 minuites walk away.
This is my favorite hotel when returning to my hometown from China where I live and work. Good location, nice rooms, decent staff. Bad luck this time with a bunch of intoxicated Dutch youngsters - young women - checking in at 3 AM next door continuing the party they came from. My and front desk personnel's request to stop the noise was answered with laughter, then threats. Unfortunately alternative rooms were unavailable, other hotels fully booked too. Took two hours to reinstate peace and calm. Police came over to check. Nights rest gone. The hotel acted inadequately. Security management is insufficient. One young man running the hotel alone is not enough. People should have been asked to leave and I should have been offered alternatives. There's work to be done to improve. This ruins the hotel's reputation. I have to advise to avoid this hotel during weekends.
Very pleasantreception staff, rooms are quite modern with open plan sink, shower. Kettle available, however wi fi was quite poor in the evening for some reason. Travelling by bicycle, there is a secure area at the back of the hotel behind locked gate. Short walk 5 mins or so to city centre. Unfortunately the restaraunt was closed on Sundays.
I parked at nearby at a Q Secure parking which was very near to the hotel. The Hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. I was offered a room with bath or shower, which was clean, smart, modern and fresh. Open plan wet-room shower, with sink in the bedroom and separate WC was all very usable, as was the comfortable bed. Air con for the room was not the easiest to operate, but worked well. Breakfast was excellent for a self-serve buffet style service. There was a car park payment machine in reception which offered some discount for a 24 hour stay.
We were travelling as a group of three cyclists. This hotel is used to hosting cyclists as there was a secure area at the back of the hotel to store our bikes. The hotel is a modern building joined onto an older building which houses a restaurant. The rooms are a very good size and well equipped. Beds very comfortable. Staff on reception very helpful and, as restaurant closed on Sunday, suggested places where we could go and eat. The town is a very short walk from the hotel. The breakfast was extremely good with a wide selection on offer. Highly recommended.
Stayed for two nights as part of a wedding weekend. All staff interactions were polite and professional, The buffet breakfast had a large selection of both hot and cold and local and international dishes.
This was a gem of a place. Lovely large rooms, fantastic breakfast. Great location close to town square bust not too near and also next to the LF restaurant (converted from an old lighting factory). Place to store bikes securely too and most of the staff helpful and friendly.
Although I would not usually pick a Best Western while traveling in the Netherlands, this was a nice choice booked for us by a cycling tour. Super clean, good location for seeing the historic city center and a great breakfast spread. Recommend!
We stayed 3 nights at the Best Western Plus City Hotel, on a music group bus tour. We have no comments about reservations, payment etc because they were made by the tour operator. Overall we gave it a 4. Quite agreeable. Down-sides were the weird shower and the sauna that was the conference room. Location --- nice and centrally located Service --- helpful and friendly desk staff, they had all the key cards made up for our large group. Helped with local directions and maps. The building ... Halls / public spaces are clean and modern. Conference room where our musical group rehearsed was away too hot! Great in providing a nice covered bike lock-up area (fietsenstalling) at the back of the building. The room ... a 2nd floor room on the front (north side) of the building. Size: large Bathroom - Shower! It elicited comments from most of our (North American) group. Almost a "room" and open to the main room. Not so good for privacy, or for steam heating up the main room. The bed - Sleep Quality was good. Noise - not a problem even though it is at a busy intersection Cleanliness - great Amenities ... Internet worked well Kettle; decaf available from the buffet Fridge yes, quiet, worked well TV --- big channel choice including BBC Thankfully enough lighting, and enough receptacle to plug in chargers etc. Breakfast: buffet, great. on site restaurant - had a lunch there. They are NOT normally open for lunch but had a group there so opened the rest of the restaurant. Special diet - great, super gluten free "brodjes"
The Best Western is not that hard to find, and one big advantage is that it has an underground garage, connected directly by elevator to the hotel. You do, however, need to know how to get to the garage, just ask when you book; parking is a big problem in many European cities and Gouda is no exception. The staff was welcoming and helpful, our room was comfortable and quiet, just what we needed. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant, it was very good, but the service was extremely deliberate, a little quicker would not have hurt. For breakfast the next morning we decided not to stay in the hotel, although I know from a previous stay that their breakfast buffet is excellent and varied, the day I was there previously it included poffertjes, a real Dutch delicacy! We walked to the Markt Square with the famous Stadhuis, and had freshly baked croissants at Bakker van Vliet, on a street corner with a very comfortable seating arrangement. Went there because we needed the Gouda delicacy stroopwafels, or rather stroopkoeken, which were delicious. Nice walk along the smaller canals, can highly recommend it.
This is a gret hotel. The rooms are large and clean. The room I had had an open plan walk in shower which was very clever deign. There was even a fridge. Minor irritations like holes in two of the towels and no milk in the tea tray were rapidly solved by the efficient, friendly staff. The air con worked well and silently. Excellent location and very quiet inspite of large party downstairs. Recommended.
Just in one word: fantastic This hotel is quite new. Staff is very friendly. Rooms are clean and well equiped. Wifi works good. The rooms have airco. You have to stand in the bath to use the shower (this is the only minor i can tell) Breafast is very good and plenty! Parking area is near the hotel (undergrounds). Parking can be done with a reduced price. For 10 euro a night! Centre is ca. 5 minutes walking (maybe less). The restaurant (lichtfabriek) is also worth to visit! Hope to visit this hotel again.
Only one night passing through. Located not far (within walking distance) of the Gouda Town Centre, this was a great choice. Buffet breakfast had plenty of choices, beds were comfortable, rooms clean, great value in fact. Staff were fantastic. Just love how they change seamlessly from Dutch to English and back again. So helpful indeed. Yes, I recommend a stay here.
We arrived early and to our delight, our room was ready and they let us check in immediately. The receptionist as very friendly and helpful. Room was huge and bright and airy with lovely views of the canal. There is free coffee up until midday which is a nice touch. Def the place to stay whilst in Gouda!
We had a great 2 nights stay at this hotel and used it as a hub to cycle in this lovely area. Location is great, inside the "central part" of Gouda, close to everything (walk 10 minutes to the markt and 10 minutes to the station). The rooms are spacious and noise insulation is good. We had a hard time adjusting the temperature, and the view was not very intersting, but all the rest was great. The half-open bathroom is a bit funny but not disturbing. The staff is very nice and the breakfast buffet was exceptional (except maybe for the coffee). You can rent bicycles from Rep 26 located 3 minutes away and leave them at the hotel (in the safe bike parking) after you leave, allowing you more flexibility for return times.
The room was very comfortable and there was lots of room to stretch out. Great shower, comfy bed (even for those with a bad back). The hotel was very clean and seemed very new (or recently renovated). The wifi worked flawlessly. The location is an easy walk to city centre and there is a grocery store within walking distance. They have free secure parking for bikes. The only downside was that breakfast was not included in the room price and was pricey (we did not partake).
Stayed Sunday night through Thursday for a Tue/Thur meeting after some hitches in making a booking, due to not being able to access the conference block booking. The hotel restaurant does not really serve Sunday meals, but cheerfully put me up a quick steak/chips. Breakfast was good (especially the warm rye bread, and cheeses of course). 2 cup instant coffee (one decaf) and teas in room. King size double bed, separate toilet and a bathtub/shower requiring some athleticism to enter (for an 80+ year-old). Refrigerator (empty). Free auto-brewed coffee available in foyer till 1200 (Buy it at the bar afterward). Monday was my jetlag recovery day spent walking the canal into the city center - about 10 minutes, with a multitude of direction signs back to the hotel! No museums open, of course. Excellent gratis WiFi, printout by sending an email attachment to the reception desk. Conference facilities with remote access facility were satisfactory, lunch sandwiches etc. were good. Evening meal of a wide variety taster plates of Dutch specialties was interesting and slightly overwhelming. A most enjoyable conference, largely helped by the hotel staff. Thank you!
Stayed here in Gouda for one night on our bike trip. After 80km on the bike it was nice to arrive. The staff were friendly. We locked our bikes out back in a secure area. The room was good. Comfy beds. The shower area was precarious. A big step in and slippery when wet. I am not sure everyone could handle that set up if you have any mobility issues. Also no privacy if that matters to you as it opened up into the room. It is an easy walk to the main square where there are lots of restaurants. The hotel is along a canal so very picturesque. Breakfast was ok, standard and included in our rate. I would definitely visit Gouda again!
A very nice hotel, with a locked open air area at the back of the hotel for bicycles. There is work being carried out at the back of the hotel. Our room was good but the shower was in the bath, quite a step out to get over the side. Sorry to say that I was not very impressed with the breakfast. We stayed in six hotels on this trip, the breakfast in Gouda was the worst. Whilst the hotel was one of the yes.
Modern, clean, bright hotel, near the main canal and easy walking distance to pedestrianised town centre. Friendly helpful reception staff. Breakfast choices were rather limited for the price of 15.50 Euros: various breads, a few cheese and meat slices, a couple cereals, yoghurt, juice, hard boiled eggs and little pancakes. But the charge was more than I would wish to pay for just a continental style breakfast - 15.50 Euros. For that price there should have been more hot food, like sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, pancakes, etc. However, the reception and dining room staff were very friendly and helpful, especially when we lost a wallet, telephoning the beer pub for us. The online instructions for parking could be improved by a small detailed notice board on the wall outside next to the appropriate car park entrance, saying "enter this car park section if you are staying at the Best Western Plus." You have to go to the QPark, get a ticket, walk to hotel entrance on that car park level, and go to reception. When you leave with your car (even if temporarily) you get another ticket to enter into the machine along with the first ticket. You do this every time. When you check out, you pay the 10 Euros per day charge, and enter the final "leaving" ticket to get out of the car park. But that was only a small detail. Otherwise a good convenient place to stay.
My wife and I, her parents and their two friends recently visited this beautiful hotel this week. We stayed here as part of our cycling holiday in Amsterdam. After a very very long day cycling we eventually arrived here at 8pm. Firstly, the hotel were able to provide us with a locked space to store our 6 bikes which was a relief! The hotel were very accommodating in reserving us a last minute table at their restaurant at 2115 so we could eat. Our rooms were immaculate, with excellent bath / shower facilities. The rooms were clean, light, spacious and warm. The restaurant was lovely and quiet, excellent service: however, the menu choice was fairly limited, but what we did order was beautiful and served in a timely fashion. We booked for breakfast the following morning and this was an excellent take on the continental breakfast. Plenty of choice, fresh fruits, juices and coffees. We took a quick walk in the morning to Gouda town which took 5minutes and is beautiful. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone!
Very centrally located. Safe lock up for our bikes. Spacious, clean and comfortable family room. Good breakfast with plenty of choice. Efficient and quick check in and check out. Would definitely stay again.
As usual I will stay at Best Western Gouda whenever I visit my HQ. Overall the quality and standard is what you would expects. But I would suggest if possible English Sports Channel would be great for English speaking guests.
The hotel is very clean and tidy, very simple but not really minimalist. The staff were very nice to us and the breakfast I can say very good. The location is the best as quite near to the old beautiful city centre.....and my office
All you need to have for a business trip. Clean room, design modern furniture, good breakfast and quiet location. Staff is friendly. Good wifi and business oriented. Truly enjoyed staying at this hotel
At the end of the day this is a Best Western but it is clean, dry and comfortable. The staff were helpful and friendly. Its central location makes it excellent for just wandering around the picturesque city of Gouda. However I did think breakfast in the hotel was expensive and we preferred to have our breakfast in one of the characterful establishments around the marketplace. We really enjoyed our long weekend here and our room felt it had been recently refurbished. Taking all things into account if we were staying in Gouda again I would definitely book here again.
A very good sound hotel. Rooms comfortable and quiet with a very good selection at breakfast. Good location on the edge of the town centre with everything within walking distance. Beautiful central square which is worth a visit.
very good and warm hotel good service good food great room and facilities all the staff were helpfull and did everything to assist and help me n getting around the bathroom was great and large enough for two pepole at the same time
Two night stay. Very handy location both to find, for parking and to walk into town. Bed very comfortable, room nice temperature, plenty of hot water, shower but would have prefered a bath, yes no shower door but it is out of sight, plenty of fluffy towels and room clean. Breakfast ample choice, fresh delicious breads, fresh fruit, cold and hot options. All staff we met were very helpful, friendly and put themselves out, treat people nicely and they respond.
We stayed two nights. The location is great and parking is straight under the hotel. Our room was huge with a very comfortable bed and great linens. Breakfast was a feast. Fresh fruit, lots of hot food, cereals ...wonderful choice. Loved the staff. They were especially friendly and helpful. A short walk to the town square. Loved our time here.
This hotel was excellent, modern, clean and the staff so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was full of choices and the rooms were well equipped and very clean. Huge beds! Located close to the city centre, just a 5 minute walk. Highly recommend the hotel and the city, We had a guided tour which was well worth it to hear the history and see the quaint buildings. The country as a whole are such nice people. Its is kept spotlessly clean whichever city you visit, airport and stations too.
It's a very nice hotel, with friendly staff and good facilities .... one big minus: the bathroom is an open bathroom incorporated in the bedroom. No separate lights, no privacy, so definitely a weird concept.
The room was clean, modern and the space was used to the maximum. However I had a ripped bottom sheet because it was worn and needed to be thrown away! There was a fridge on the room, with nothing in not even complementary water. As for the tea and coffee in the room there was 2 tea bags, 2 coffee sachets one was decaf, 2 saugars and 2 powderd milk, really ! No toiletries our shower pump dispenser was empty. Breakfast was ok but was an extra. Would book again
The only issue I have about the room design is the fact that the shower area and washbasin are basically within the room. The toilet at least is in its own enclosed cubicle but would have preferred a proper bathroom. otherwise great room and the hotel was everything you expect from this brand. Parking is quite expensive but reasonable and at least it is in an underground carpark with a lift to all floors. you can stay there for 24 hours and appears that Best Western get a reduced rate. Maybe I'm just used to parking for free.
I stayed for 5 nights in this hotel between 25th and 30th September,2016. They gave me Room 110 facing the canal and traffic junction. It was a nice sight to watch. The outside noise did not reach the inside of the room. It was amazing to watch how the road on the canal opens up to allow a passing boat, stopping the road traffic and restarting same in just about 90 seconds. Room was spacious enough (as I stayed alone). I opted for a shower instead of bath with tub. Staff at the front office and breakfast room were friendly and helpful. I had a problem with my suitcase' telescopic handle for which they gave me some tools to set it right. Gesture appreciated. Breakfast was usual fare and good. The place was quite spacious to accommodate even a big crowd coming at the same time for the breakfast. I could do my 5 kms walk on 3 evenings just going around the hotel, walking along the canals. The famous Gouda cheese market as well as the shopping market are just a 10 mts walk from the hotel. I enjoyed my stay and will surely stay again. Rtn.J.Ganesh
Excellent quality hotel. Good professional service. Good size rooms. Very comfy beds. Toilet/shower/sink are separate from each other. Slightly quirky shower, needs to be used at low pressure otherwise you'll flood the sink floor area and then the bedroom. Breakfast would have benefited from more hot food items. The small omelettes were a nice touch, other items were boiled eggs, grilled tomatoes and crispy bacon.
wold have been an even higher rating for a hotel that was very smart and well located, but the bath was separated from the toilet (which many will find useful) had what we felt was a design fault in that it was not easy to get out of. One could move a moveable step to the bath (that is what they expect people to do if they want) but it did mean it wasn't as easy as it should be. I have spent a lot of words on what is essentially a minor point. Overall, a really good stay in a modern design conscious hotel
We enjoyed our stay in the Best Western Plus City Hotel Gouda. The interior decorating has been done very stylishly with a lot of attention to detail and is an hommage to the city of Gouda cheese and its many monumental buildings. The location is a good stone's throw from the inner city, a really convenient and well within ten minutes walk along streets with a lot of monumental buildings as well. Gouda is a nice city to visit and this hotel is a good place to do it from. Very friendly and smiling staff. Great breakfast selection. The hotel has been built with build-in atmosphere. Very good! Although you have to be able to cope with the very very bright yellow in rooms and the hallways (must be the cheese theme:-).
Whenever at the restaurant or bar, ask for Danny. Great service.A major point for business travellers at times is hotels being able to make you feel at home. The presence of a gym around ia valuable .
We were on cycling holiday and the hotel was on the bike route. It was satisfactory or better in all ways except difficulty in signing onto the internet. We had to go to the lobby to get connected. It is a distance away from the town centre requiring a taxi to and from the hotel.
This new hotel is nicely located in the center of Gouda. Everything is (more than) OK: the rooms, the design, the breakfast, the kind employees, the lounge, the parking (reasonable charge of 10 euros / 24 hours). We will go there again.
We were given a free upgrade as the hotel was full with visiting national rowing teams, so we enjoyed the penthouse suite on the top floor which was amazeballs! - Huge bed, the largest shower cubical I have ever seen, a roll-top bath, seating area and a kettle & cups to make tea/coffee. We are familar with Gouda, but this property is relatively new (less than 5 years old) . However we found it easily following the river, and drove straight into the underground public car park. Go to level -1 and then take the lift up to the hotel reception. You get a discount on the car parking fee when staying in the hotel, - it cost us €10 for overnight parking. The cost of breakfast seemed a tad expensive at €15.25 each, however, on a Sunday morning little else would be open in the city. The breakfast included a wide range of breads, cheeses, cold meats, cearals, and also cooked bacon. I would certainly stay here again.
Stayed here for one night during a cycling trip around the Netherlands. The facilities are superb and the hotel is excellent. The staff were most helpful. One little note. We had been cycling for 80 kilometres, then to be told that the restaurant was booked up with the New Zealand rowing team, so we would have to go into the town, for a meal was the last thing we wanted to hear. Why couldn't the New Zealand rowing team go there? It wasn't that good and just like a cafe. Spoilt the experience.
I stayed 2 nights at this hotel while travelling solo through The Netherlands on a bike trip. The hotel is well located, modern and my room (top floor) was perfect. The breakfast buffet was by far the best I've had... besides the regular bread, cheese, meats, yogurt, fruit and eggs they also offered pancakes, Crispy bacon, omlettes, lox... and just an overall larger selection of breads, cheese, fruit, etc. I would definitely recommend this hotel. The pictures below are my room and the view from my room.
The positives: Good breakfast, hot & cold buffet with good coffee. Clean room and bathroom. Good sleep quality. Good AC & WiFi. But: location isn't great. Looking out over an ugly bus parking area and some kind of a picnic area(?). The trainee receptionist , when we checked in, was abandoned to her own devices by her senior colleagues, while they chatted. They were aware that she was having difficulties but did nothing to assist her for quite a while. Unfair to her and no care for us. We were surprised, at breakfast, to see all the staff handling food without gloves. Unusual features: the (spotlessly clean) shower and sink are actually in the room, only the toilet is separate. The two armchairs in the room were like something out of a doctor's waiting room, small, upright and uncomfortable.
We had two rooms at this hotel. An executive suite, and an executive. We fit 2 adults and 2 kids in the executive suite, and 2 adults and one child in the executive room. They are very spacious. We had 3rd floor, and could see the steeple of St. John's chapel. The air worked great, nice fridge and safe, plenty of storage space, and awesome water pressure. They have a conditioning soap/shampoo in a dispenser in the shower. A couple things to note, there is no shower curtain. We rigged a towel from a hook to the blow dyer to give some privacy. There is a half wall that separates the bath area from the room, so it's not really a problem. Also, they do not give washcloths (this is not uncommon in Europe, though). I needed an iron, and they had a nice ironing board and iron they brought from downstairs. We absolutely loved the breakfast. They ladies working were so friendly. They had a great coffee machine that offered lattes, coffee, cappuccinos, etc. So many fresh breads, fruits, cheese, meat, and warm items, too. Amazing. We didn't eat in the restaurant for any meals. We did eat off the bar menu on the afternoon we arrived. The man suggested some great snacks, and we all enjoyed them. The hotel has parking underneath it, but there is a small fee. It is a few short minutes to walk into the town center. The walk is gorgeous. You can walk to the train station within 15 minutes. This is a great hotel with friendly staff. We'll gladly stay here again if we get the chance.
nearby the trainstation and the citycentre in lovely gouda.both in walkingdistence.very good breakfast(bread, eggs, yoghurt, fruits etc) and diner.Room was specious, with mini bar, coffee and tea facilities.bathroom was half open.so not a problem if your traveling with your husband.nice bathtub.really enjoy our time her.we would recommend it!
I stayed here a night to see the cheese market. The staff was very friendly and helpful in helping me find my way around town. I walked about 15 minutes from the train station. The going wasn't so smooth on the sidewalks and streets even with my wheeled suitcase, but I managed. It was about a ten minute walk to the town square where the cheese market is held, and where a lot of restaurants are. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was really good offering a large selection.
We were on a 7 day bicycle trip through the Netherlands and this was the best hotel of our trip. Excellent service, friendly staff, nice quiet room and very good food. Dinner and breakfast were way above average. They accommodated my gluten free diet very well with good tasting gluten free bread which was rather rare on our trip in the Netherlands.
The hotel is in a great location, a 10 to 15 minute walk to the station and 10 minute walk to the market square. The staff were very friendly and the hotel was very clean. The buffet breakfast gave you a good choice and made a excellent start to the day. I was a bit disappointed with the room. I had booked an executive room and I was looking forward to a sofa bed, so I was disappointed to find that we had a small single bed as well as our double bed. Like other people I found the wash hand basin too high and the bath/shower difficult to get into. I would have preferred to have a conventional bathroom rather than the open plan bedroom/bathroom.
Hotel was very clean and modern. It is about 10 minutes walk to the main square. The breakfast is included and it was great. There was a lot of variety. Town is pronounced Howda and so is the cheese. I never knew this. Enjoy the town. The canals are also nice and so is the area around the church. The church is about 120 metres long and narrow.
We spent a night here while on a cycle tour Positives - good location, easy to find - clean good sized rooms - friendly helpful front desk Neutral - hotel restaurant closed by 8pm - hard beds Negatives - really odd open plan shower arrangements. Totally unsuitable if you enjoy privacy
My husband and I stayed at this gem of a hotel in Gouda when we were on a eight day bicycle ride from Amsterdam to Bruges in Belgium. The hotel is just four years old but it is clear that much thought has gone into making this converted warehouse a cozy and comfortable hotel. The public rooms are well designed as are the bedrooms. Breakfast is a vast spread, very good quality. it is also conveniently located such that it is a short pleasant walk to the main tourist sites in the city, most spectacular of which is the church with its beautiful stained glass windows. it is one of the truly excellent Best Western Plus.
Stayed at this hotel for two nights for business in July 2016. The hotel had been renovated recently and was very nice. The decor was modern and thw hotel was spotless. The room was very nice and the bed was very comfortable. We ate in the restaurant one of the nights and the food was excellent also. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming and also gave excellent advice on places to visit. Gouda itself is a beautiful town. It is very small but very picturesque. It had a very laid back feel and has plenty of choices for eating out. All in all a nice few days.
We were told that Gouda requires its citizens to separate and recycle their waste, but this apparently does not apply to hotels. This hotel does not recycle ANYTHING, not even paper. We had collected a few (normally) recyclable items such as paper and plastic. We asked the maid what we could do with them and were advised that they do not recycle at all. We double checked at the front desk and found out this was in fact the case. For this reason I will never stay at this hotel again. The irony is that they have a big sign when you approach reception that says "Think globally, act locally". This is obviously just a cute phrase they used and not something they take seriously. As for the rooms, I did not like the layout. The sink and shower area are completely integrated with the room without a door or any separation.
This is a great hotel, and terrific value, very friendly staff, and great breakfast. Rooms were excellent and beds very comfy after a long bike ride. Only slight caveat is that there's no totally undercover bike storage just open bike shed.
Second visit. Great hotel, good rooms, great location, reception very helpful but the restaurant lets it down. Almost impossible to get a drink in the bar when restaurant is open, quote - to busy to serve you!. Breakfast great but flawed - day 1 no cooked tomatoes or omelettes available 2/3 of cooked options. Day 2 no hot chocolate - machine out of water, no orange juice - run out of concentrate, coffeee machines which are so slow anyway, warning of need to empty coffee grounds and presumably imminent failure. Thank goodness there is a great restaurant next door!
stayed at this hotel for 2 nights with work . nice big rooms very clean and a very good breakfast . parking for a large van is not easy close to the hotel. when we found a parking spot it cost 15euro for 24 hours if working in this part of Holland will look to stay at this hotel
We stayed on the top floor overlooking the canal for a 4 night cycling holiday. Our stay included our bike rental (from down the street 1 minute), very comfortable room and bed, breakfast buffet and 2 dinners. All was perfect for us 'older' cyclists, other than missing some good English cycling maps. They have a great numbering system that makes it all doable, but there were some explanations of towns etc. that we didn't have. But it was incredible with each day setting off in a different direction and enjoying a unique cycling experience. Lots of beautiful towns. Our price was half what was quoted by a Cycling Tour company that used this hotel. While we might have missed out on better maps and some extra support (which wasn't needed) it was certainly worth it. Also need to comment that the dinners in the restaurant were exceptional for serving small groups of people. Everything we ate was top quality.
Going to Gouda and staying in a nice hotel is quite affordable. It only takes 30-45min to go to the airport so 80 euros for the hotel is quite good deal if you consider that the taxi to the airport is almost 100€. The hotel is really nice and quite new. People I met at reception was really nice and professional. Breakfast was ok-ish, nothing special.
Best Western Plus in Gouda was the perfect hotel for our two night stay. Our rooms were modern, perfectly clean, comfortable, and had a wonderful view of the canal. We opted in for the breakfast buffet, which included many hot and cold selections, including wonderful little poffertjes (little puffed pancakes), small ready-made omelettes, bacon, cappuccinos, croissants, and lattes. The hotel is a brisk 10-15 minute walk from the train station. We wished we had called for a taxi for my mother. To the market place it's also about a 10 minute walk --- very pleasant through the cobblestone streets. The front desk and wait staffs were all very pleasant and we highly recommend this hotel.
Every time I'm in area, I'll stay in this hotel. 3 things are really relevant for me in this Best Western: great breakfast with a lot of varieties and tasty foods, comfortable bed, Basic Fit Gym available at the next door at really good price
Great location, great price, friendly staff, will be back?? Only drawback was wash stands far too high for a 5'1" woman. Beds very comfortable. Pillows could be better. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Will be back.
The hotel has a good niveau of a standard hotel. An architect had had a fine idea to combinate the hotel room and bathroom, but our opinion was another. The ventilator in the room was very noisy. We have eaten dinner in the restaurant of the hotel two times. The first menu was acceptable. The main course of the second menu was awful. The personnel was kind.
Mixed feelings. Extremely good location for Gouda, also modern and well presented and spotlessly clean. Bath/Showers though are difficult to exit from and Wash hand basins are ludicrously high - neither suited for elderly or frail people. The dining room is very slow for evening meals although the resultant food is quite acceptable. Too much noise from the kitchen area in the mornings [open to the Dining Room] and they should wait for breakfast to finish before clattering the crockery so much as conversation became impossible. On balance I would probably stay there again as it is a good location and very clean and well presented. Just a few things Best Western need to think through for future hotel designs
Perfect hotel for our stay in Gouda. Easy walking distance from the centre. A lovely double room with patio doors looking out over one of the many canals. The hotel was immaculate. One of the cleanest I have ever stayed in. Even then underground parking was the smartest car park I have seen and well worth the 10 euros a day parking fee. The staff were very helpful and accommodating at all times. Ate in the restaurant one night and the food was brilliant and had breakfast one day and there was a large selection on the buffet. Would definitely stay there again.
We spent 3 days in this hotel and were struck by the friendliness and the professionalism of the staff. This is obviously a well-managed hotel where everyone is willing to make your stay memorable. Clean spacious rooms with very comfortable beds. And a breakfast buffet that caters for all. HIGHLY recommended. We thought long and hard to find a point of criticism but couldn't come up with anything.
Modern rooms, clean and spacious. Very well located and friendly staff always ready to help Good breakfast with large selection Good place to be when in the area, walking distance to shopping streets. Will be considered every time I'll be around Gouda.
I stayed here for a couple of nights whilst on business. Room was large enough, clean and more than met my requirements. Hotel is conveniently located in Gouda and more than met my requirements for a couple of nights away on business.
The room was very clean and nicely decorated, the bed was comfortable, and I had plenty of space (even enough to do yoga in the morning in my room). The hotel is well located and I would definitely stay again! Wifi connection worked well enough to stream my online yoga classes :) Hotel only has simple toiletries - one all purpose shampoo/body wash so if you need more (like conditioner or lotion) you should remember to bring it.
I stayed at the Best Western for 2 nights on business. It is a 45 minute drive from Schipol airport and it very easy to find. The taxis can easily drop you off at the front door so tehre is no hassle. The staff were very friendly and we quickly checked in before heading to the rooms. The rooms are spacious and either come with just a shower or bath and shower. The bath and shower rooms are quite large with a sizeable bed. The bath/shower is however "public" in the room so bare that in mind if sharing with a colleague. There were tea and coffee facilities in the room, hairdryer, television, fridge and some showergel and soap. Breakfast in the morning is a buffet style with cereal, pastries, cheese and meats or a cooked breakfast if you prefer. There are also hot drinks and juices. The breakfast was satisfactory and perfect for our needs. All together a good stay for 2 nights.
Since I saw the movie If this is Tuesday it must be Belgium, I always wanted to see the market, since it was featured in the movie.I had originally booked a B+B in the town sent the owner a full money order to The Groenenweg b+b took a taxi to the b+b someone inside but not answering, a neighbour told me to knock harder , finally an answer by a very angry man I told him who I was he started cursing at me told me to leave or he would call the police, he took my money in advance, ripped me off. I left with the taxi, he was shocked ,the neighbour was shocked , I was the most shocked, the taxi driver did not know were to take me so he took me to The Best Western it was full, but the clerk did call all the placesin town all full.He told me he had a room but it had not been house kept I said I didn't care it turned out it was cleaned after all.It was great. After the ordeal I had been through, he comped me breakfast it was all good and I enjoyed the market.
We stayed with friends for one night on a flying visit. I agree with the previous reviews, this is a great hotel with friendly staff, they even moved our rooms so we could be next door to each other. The rooms are large and comfortable with lots of light and all the amenities you need including; super big shower, free wifi, hairdryer and kettle. This is a very quiet hotel with parking but as our friends paid for that, not sure how much of a bargain it was. Not sure about the location as we were just there for one night to go to a party nearby. The breakfast was great with lots to choose from. We were there New Year's Eve and it felt like there was a good management behind the running of the hotel as they had extended breakfast hours and included a very late checkout which was appreciated by all. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a hotel in the area. Only one complaint, we didn't have a big double bed, two mattresses together. And watch out for the random spiral staircase running from level two to one for no apparent reason.
Have stayed a number of times in last four years. Stayed here for two nights with children and grandchildren. Had two pairs of rooms with interleading doors. which made for easy babysitting. Breakfast is still excellent and good value. Parking is excellent value and the hotel is within 5 minutes walk of the market square. The hotel offers excellent value inclusive weekend deals. Staff are very helpful.
Excellent hotel, very well positioned for the town, just a short walk to the Stadthaus and main square. 10 minutes walk from the train station and good parking facilities available by the hotel. Great staff and good food. Rooms are comfortable and bright and free internet connection works well.
Gouda is a delightful town so being able to stay close to the centre and within walking distance of a wide range of shops and restaurants is ideal. the hotel is modern, quite basic but also adequate. The staff were helpful. The bed was comfortable. Breakfasts are fine with a good choice. The bar a little on the expensive side and the seating and décor not really relaxing
Our trip to Gouda was spontaneous and we arrived with no accommodation prebooked. The Best Western was well sign posted all through town and that's the only reason we ended up staying there - because it was easy to find! The receptionist was friendly and gave us a room at a reasonable rate as well as plenty of information about the town of Gouda. The rooms were spacious, modern, clean and the beds were really comfy. All round a great experience, I would stay here again!
Arrived late after a long day travelling & checked in. Informed that the only food available was pizza. Luckily our host for our visit found a little Italian restaurant that saved the night. Review to follow I hope. Rooms are very basic & served well for freshening up putting ones head down for the night.
I have stayed at this hotel several times over the last 18 months. Great value and very nice rooms. This is the first great hotel in Gouda. Parking is covered. Walking to the historic square is only a 10 minute walk. Gouda is a beautiful city and worth visiting. When you do, stay in this hotel you will not regret it. I highly recommend.
A fairly new hotel (or so it seemed) and one of the nicer Best Westerns that I`ve stayed at. Easy parking underneath. Decent space and really comfy bed. Very clean, which is key. Breakfast was in a trendy brick dining area - with good food, and there`s a great brand new restaurant next door. But the best thing was the location. Easy to drive to via roads (right at the entrance of the town basically), but even better for exploring on foot. Just cross the canal to get into the core part of the town - a few minutes walk through the charming town to the centre square. So glad I chose to stay here.
We stayed one night, got in an hour before sunset, walked to the town square maybe 6-7 minutes through one of the most picturesque towns i have ever seen. Ate at at Cafe Central on the square. Wonderful dinner! Walked around town then back to the best western. Great room, comfy beds and nice bathroom. Parking deck is public and cost 12 euro but from level -1 the elevator goes strait into the lobby. Nicest breakfast spread i have eve seen in a hotel. Profetional young staff.
Nice functional hotel, everything is new and clean. Lovely bar and restaurant area and very close to the market centre. One possible improvement would be to have double beds, rather than single beds pushed together. I stay here quite a lot with with and I am always welcomed by the very friendly staff, which I think makes the hotel.
I usually don't like the style of the Best Western hotel, but I must admit, this is the big exception, the hotel is centric and modern, with decent restaurant and 10 minutes walked from city centre, but the highlights are the rooms, big modern, incredibly nice bathroom, separate toilet. I loved it. The only problem is that for a 4 star hotel, it was pricey (over 200 euro per night). If you don't mind splashing the cash, I fully recommeded
This hotel was the last 8 hotels in two week trip. It was perfectly organised and functional. However, the bar/restaurant didn't open until 6.00pm and we do like something at lunch-time. Gouda City Centre is lovely - but the outskirts are not. This hotel sits between the two, which is its problem. if Gouda Cty Council upgraded the old harbour it would be in much better location.
I stayed in this hotel for one evening, basically just to sleep for a few hours. It is located in the village of Gouda (where they make the famous cheese) about 45 minutes from Amsterdam. The beds were comfortable, but the setup was rather awkward. The bath was just like an open room, it did not have a door and it was rather difficult to get in and out. I think its a good hotel for a couple of nights, but not for much longer than that.
The Wifi is very poor almost non existent in our room, this is very disappointing from an international hotel group. The room and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast is €15 which is expensive but the food was good. Parking is good at €10 per day. One little thing that was annoying is that the hotel don't have courtesy umbrellas holland gets a bit of rain and a deposit system would prevent them going missing. Travellers can't take umbrellas on their flights nowadays so this would be a useful service.
Check in was fast. Although the girl didn't tell us much about breakfast. Booking through booking.com gives you cheaper rates. Stayed with two friends - be aware: twin beds do not separate and the shower has no door which makes for uncomfortable situations. Free breakfast is really good and of course - many types of cheese. Staff in the breakfast are super friendly. I would return.
