I had my wedding here on 16/9/18 after cancelling our previous venue. John Kelly was exceptional as was Ross. The honeymoon suite is amazing all staff were fantastic. John even ensured both me and my hubby had time to reflect over our day. He even ensured the company that supplied my LED floor were brought to task which I thoroughly appreciated. "Business overnighter"

I'm not normally a fan of Best Western hotels, but this hotel is the exception! I couldn't find a fault if I tried! The hotel is easy to find and there is plenty free parking. It's in a quiet location too, backing onto fields and set well back from the road. Smooth and quick check-in, large and very comfortable room, pretty well equipped and spotlessly clean. Good shower too. I arrived very tired so I didn't bother with dinner, but breakfast was freshly cooked and better than average. All the staff were cheerful too, which generally bodes well for any hotel. All in all, I'll happily stay again when next in the area!

"60th birthday celebration"

My hubby and I were taken here on Saturday night by relatives for a belated 60th birthday meal for myself. The restaurant had a nice ambience and we have a very pleasant waitress serving us who was very accommodating with our food special requests. This is our second visit here and have say that this time the food was not nearly to the standard as previous - perhaps a different chef.

"Scottish Holiday "

This hotels first impressions from the outside were average but once inside everything else was 5*. We were upgraded to their top room, excellent. It did not stop there as the food in the restaurant was also 5*. My wife who is a vegetarian had a top quality meal. Stuffed Sweet potato, not had this type of meal before. It's always been sweet potato-fries as an addition. It was really tasty and different, well done to the chef. My steak burger was also excellent. A very enjoyable meal with very friendly service could no fault this hotel and its food.

Most enjoyable, slightly disappointed with "double executive" room as felt it was no more than a double, and was far inferior to the double executive room I did see.. However it was a beautiful, adequate room so did not deflect from everything else.. Just can't help feeling slightly fobbed off..??

Lovely hotel with helpful friendly staff . The food is excellent and the breakfast is just right to give you the perfect start to the day. The best place to stay after a long hard day on the business trail comfy rooms and a good nights sleep what else could you wish for

Arrived in the restaurant at 18.15. Got drink straight away then waited 20 minutes for my order to be taken. Main course was shoved down in front of me. No offer of any condiments as the waiter rushed away. Finished drink but no offer of another. Go to bar but barman is too busy so go back to table and finish the main course. Plate is finally taken from table at 19.45 desert menu is offered but I don't know how long this will take and will not enjoy it the mood I'm in. I notice the diner on the next table has been offered a drink in the meantime. The food was very good btw.

"Suite upgrade made from enjoyable visit"

We booked a twin - but were upgraded to accommodate the Spanish cycling team who were taking part in the European Games! A massive room with enough space to seat at least 10 people, a comfortable bed and a good clean bathroom. Unfortunately the food let the place down - very unimaginative and not well prepared. If a good chef could be persuaded to take on this place it would easily make 4 stars!

Having stayed here a couple of times I can say that this is a great business stop. The staff are attentive and friendly. The food and service doesn't leave you wanting. Very handy location for the surrounding business estate.

"Great stop over"

Very attentive staff. Lovely man on reception full of local knowledge and advice on places to visit. Evening meal good. Beds soft and comfortable, loads of space in room too. Hotel is situated away from the main road so nice and quiet. Grounds kept nice and tidy too

"Feels like coming home"

It's always a pleasure to return here. I've been staying here when work necessitates for probably 15 years now and have found it to be consistent in excellent. Good food, and not a microwave to be heard-proper food with healthy choices. Staff are friendly and caring.

We stayed four nights at the Garfield Best Western, Glasgow Scotland. The hotel is lovely, very friendly and clean! The staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable. We especially enjoyed the restaurant and the Beef Steak Pie! We were about a 15 minute drive from the City Centre, easily accessible using Bus 38 C which dropped us off at the front of the hotel.

"One star is too good for this place! "

My husband and I were here for our nieces wedding on a beautiful, sunny July day. Unfortunately, our first impression was marred by the horrendous stench of sewage which greeted us running down the front steps and into the gardens of the hotel. Surely an emergency plumber could have been called given the special occasion taking place?? The bar area was far too small for the number of guests in attendance, after dinner they opened another room with tables and chairs aplenty, this room should have been opened throughout the day to avoid people having to stand around before and after the ceremony. The bar itself was tiny and the staff most unpleasant. At one point there was only one barmaid serving and my husband waited in line for around 25 minutes. It was as though the wedding was a surprise to them! The attitude of one barmaid in particular was disgusting. We were advised by our family that there were drinks included for us, and, while I understand the staff have to check if we have had our complimentary drink when serving us, barking “have you already had your free drink?” at guests is definitely not the best way to go about it. A lesson in manners and customer care would not have gone amiss here. When dinner was announced, they immediately turned the lights off in the bar and shouted that the bar was closed. Those who were waiting in line just had to go without being served. When everyone was seated for dinner, we were told the speeches were before the meal, however, no staff came around to offer drinks (which we know were already paid for) which unfortunately meant we had no drink to raise a glass to any of the toasts. Unacceptable standard from the hotel as far as I am concerned. One tiny jug of water for a table of ten meant there wasn't even enough of that to go around so we were forced to raise empty glasses. The dinner was ok. The soup was nice and the main and dessert was fine for me. I had to ask three times for a jug of water for the table. While we enjoyed the wedding and our time with family, I am sad and disappointed that this hotel badly let down the wedding party with the shockingly poor service. If you want advice, avoid this place!

All the staff were extremely helpful. The invalid room was well appointed and maintained. The menu offered plenty of choice. Three was at extensive range of wines and whisk. We have stayed at this hotel several times and would thoroughly recommend it

"I'd give it a zero if I could"

Attending our Niece's wedding in the Garfield and we were met at the door by the stench of sewage, presumably from a burst pipe. Inside, a less than friendly barmaid served us, charging £7.95 for a bottle of prosseco which filled a champagne flute. The wedding ceremony went well but the wedding dinner was sparse, barely children's portions. We were staying the night so off to a stifling hot bedroom, no aircon and only a small hopper window to open. The room was so hot my wife got up during the night and fainted in the toilet. Result? A visit to Glasgow Royal Infirmary in the morning and 2 cracked ribs. We left the hotel, passing the beautiful aroma of stinking sewage on the way to the car.

Our single serve prosecco bottle, similar to most licensed premises, are a standard size 20cl bottle. You are correct to state we do not have air conditioning, but the recent heatwave has made all hotel rooms throughout the west of Scotland significantly warmer. Unfortunately as this glorious weather is not what we usually experience, this is not an area we are currently considering for investment. I hope your wife is feeling better, and had you informed us we would have arranged first aid treatment and organised transport to the hospital. "Do not stay here"

Found large shirt pin in bed (my partner bleeds easily so that was scary), dirty sock behind bed, bathroom fan didn't work, bathroom light flickered on and off. To top it all off there was a function on directly below us in the bar downstairs. As if it wasn't bad enough that we couldn't use the lounge/bar, the music was so ridiculously loud that it made the floor vibrate. This continued until 12am. Got hardly any sleep as a result.

I stay locally to this hotel but needed a couple of quiet nights to complete a work project. Stayed 15-16 June in executive double and i can honestly say it was perfect. Check in and out was effortless, room was perfect and the view helped enormously. I must Complement the Housekeeping staff who were extremely nice and are a credit to the Hotel.

"Happy stay at the Garfield"

Stayed in the Best Western Garfield for 2 nights for business. I drove here from the airport but there is a station not too far away. There isn't much in the immediate area, there are some restaurants but not a wide selection. Lots of places deliver to here on Just eat if you wish though. I was in a Standard Double and it was a good room, a touch on the cosy side but ideal for a single traveller like me, bath was a bit small, wouldn't be comfortable for a tall person. The room only had a small window so naturally light was only average. My room was located on the ground floor, I was worried when I aw it was close to the bar but it was a weekday so there was no noise, in fact it was very quiet the first night, second night the person next door had the TV on too late and then had a loud phone call at 7am…..not the hotels fault I just wish people could at least try and think of others. I had room service both nights and the food was good but I did find the thick cut homestyle chips nice but a bit too greasy. Breakfast was above average and the scrambled eggs were excellent, second day was not quite as good, pastries were a little dry and they had run out of ketchup. Staff were very friendly indeed and the hotel public areas were very clean as was the room. Water pressure was excellent but the water wasn't very hot on the 2nd morning, so might indicate you'll have trouble having a hot morning shower when it's busier. Room had a medium sized TV, a desk, decent amount of storage and it's own electric heater, which was a bit of a fiddle to get working when the room felt a bit cold. Bed and bedding was of good standard and I had good sleep both nights, the curtains also provided excellent blackout. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room were good and there was a suitable amount of electric sockets, no USB charging ports though, did have a very small analogue radio styled to look like a CRT TV, that was a bit of an odd extra. Check in with quick and easy and check out was also. Plenty of parking on site. Would definitely stay here again, an excellent 3 star hotel but I did think it was quite expensive for a 3 star.

Stayed 2 nights for a wedding. Lovely room, comfy bed, very clean. Impressed with the housekeeping service. Tasty breakfast. Excellent food at the wedding. Only negative - no hot water on Sunday morning.

"Rude awakenings."

At 6:45am we were woken by loud bangs, men shouting back and forward to each other and being extremely inconsiderate outside our room window; only to realise it was the delivery men for the bar downstairs. This went on for about 35-40 minutes. Really upsetting as our stay up until now was great and everyone was extremely accommodating and attentive, just a shame that something like this has ruined our stay.

"Birthday lunch"

My husband took me to the restaurant on my request as we haven't been in ages and I wanted a nice lunch. Wasn't disappointed, the food was amazing, would highly recommend if you haven't been before or like us not been years. The only negative was that it took us ages to get served as the staff thought each other was serving us! Once we got the order in it was all good, even got money off our bill so that was a lovely birthday treat! Very friendly staff and very apologetic, will definitely be back again.

I stayed here on Friday 01/06/2018 as we were going to a concert at Hampden Park. The hotel was clean and reception staff spot on. Our purpose was strictly bed and breakfast. Room was clean and spacious, bed was very comfy. Everything was spot on until the following morning. The waiting staff/chef must have had a late Friday night themselves! We were greeted and seated very nicely by the waiting staff, we were asked if we wanted tea/coffee and toast white or brown..... We asked for white and brown turned up. No real bother we weren't fussed. I managed to get the attention of a waiter after about 20 minutes of waiting to order two full breakfasts. Another couple were seated about 15 minutes after us just behind us, they ordered well after is, cancelled their ordr, then re-ordered again and received their order before we got ours and our orders were exactly the same! 10 minutes after this and a word in the waitress' ear we had to re-ordered as the chef had apparently misplaced our order! The breakfasts came out and we're missing items, we couldn't believe it could be so wrong! We asked for white toast again but we received brown again and then the waiter turned up with a random pot of tea we hadn't ordered. The staff were very friendly but considering it was so quiet in there I couldn't believe how poor the service was. Will not be staying again for that price with such poor service.

We were NOT told in advance of our 3 night stay that there was to be 3 nights of extremely loud music from a tribute act on the Friday night followed by a wedding both on the Saturday & Sunday night. Our room was directly above all the noise (No 3) and although the music stopped at midnight the sound of drunken guests went on for longer! There were people knocking on our room door and running away obviously thinking we were in their wedding party. The hotel is far too small to escape the sound of the loud music. This was not a cheap hotel as the room rate was more than some 4/5 star hotels in central Glasgow and the hotel a lot smaller than we expected. We definitely think the hotel had an obligation to forewarn us of the noise expectancy either at booking or definitely before our arrival but to not mention it at all and to put us in the room over the party and bar area was totally unacceptable especially when we weren't there to party!

Not that along ago i went here with my friend and as always the staff were welcoming and happy. When i myself had The Best burger again and the nice thick chips i ate all of it to prove how good it was. Lucy my friend ate the Double decker cheese sandwich with the totella chips it came with salad and lentil soup. My mum also ate but i don't know what is was i think it was fish soup

The Garfield has weddings down to a fine art. The package we booked was amazing value, the day was extremely well organised, and nothing was any trouble to them at all. John, Cara and their team are an absolute credit to the hotel. From housekeeping to waiters, to bar staff, to the restaurant team led by Ross - the staff are nothing short of fantastic. We will always remember our wedding day for all the right reasons. The Garfield will always hold a special place in our hearts.

"A good stay, excellent dinners"

I have stayed here before, but not for a while, so it was good to be back. I had a single room (hoped for an upgrade as an "elite customer" at BW, but it was not to be. Facilities were good - a decent desk, a good bathroom but the bed was on castors and rocked whenever you moved in it - I do not expect seasickness as a hazard normally, but this got me worried! Dinners were uniformly excellent every nice - my nephew joined me one day and commented on how good they were, and restaurant service was excellent. Breakfast was good but service one day was very slow (1/2 hour between arriving and receiving a hot breakfast) . I did complain and was told there were staffing issues that morning. Every other day was fast service with an excellent fryup to sort my cholesterol for the rest of the day. Good choice of drinks, but I stuck to the excellent "East Coast IPA" Stepps is a bit out of the way, but I was into Central Glasgow within about 30 minutes by train or 45 by bus, and leaving a car out of the city makes live so much easier.

Had a nice stay here. Room was clean and I really liked the bed. The receptionist was funny when we checked in. Pretty standard place, quiet, out of the way, but it did the trick for sure. Room was cold when I got into it, but boy, do the heaters ever kick in when you fire them up! Great sleep. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet stay, away from the hustle and bustle.

"A marvellous Hotel"

My wife and I stayed for two nights and could not have been happier. From the moment we checked in until we left we had a lovely time. All the staff from the receptionist, to the cleaners to the restaurant people were fantastic. Thoroughly professional, friendly, caring service is guaranteed. The meals we had both dinner and breakfast were a delight. Whenever we come North I always check availability of Garfield House!

My daughters wedding reception was held in The Garfield on 14 April 2018. With 12 weeks to go we cancelled original venue and booked the Garfield I can honestly say that was the best decision we made. We had a fantastic day and I would like to thank everyone at The Garfield for helping making this a wonderful occasion. The meal was great and the rooms were excellent. "Family Hotel"

We arrived here after our flight. We landed in a wedding party that took place. The friendly staff worked tirelessly to get our room ready in time. We spend 1,5 hour near Frankfield Loch, which was a 5 minute drive, with our dog Bram. We walked around the loch. In our room we ordered room service and while the wedding was at full swing, we heared nothing in our lovely large room. The service was quickly and with care and love. The next day we had after a day in Glasgow a dinner in the Bar and Grill. Nice staff and good food. Our experience with reception was very warm and all were committed to give us a nice stay. I only woke up at night while a wedding guest went to bed, and his floor made a cracking noise in our room like he was next to the bed. We experienced that as a typical historic noise that belonged to the building, region and our holiday experience. Whooooo ghosts….

The hotel is very comfortable, the staff are very welcoming. The hotel is approximately 25 minutes away from the airport, it's a straight forward trip down the M8 to junction 12 were we turned off. We asked the gentleman behind the desk at check in to recommend a local restaurant. He recommended The Indian Kitchen restaurant 1.2 miles away, which was absolutely brilliant! Thanks

"Great for an overnight "

Myself and my husband always try to get away for an overnight stay without the kids a few times a year. We have been to the Garfield for dinner before but never an overnight stay, however we had heard good reviews before so thought we would give it a try. We went with my in-laws and had a great night. When we arrived the hotel had no note of us having booked two rooms and only had one reserved for us, however they found another room and gave us the same deal. The meal was lovely no the staff were excellent and friendly, nothing was a trouble. The rooms were clean, modern and lovely and peaceful. There was a wedding on in the hotel and because it's not huge I thought it would have been quite noisy, however you would never have known. The only downside to the hotel was that they didn't sell cocktails ...... not a huge deal at all but would have been a 5 star rating if they had ! All in all would definitely go back and would highly recommend

"Fine wedding venue"

Lovely stay and the hotel did the happy couple and guest proud on the day and throughout. We were fortunate to get a very large room, which was very comfortable for the price paid. The hotel is a bit out of the way for Glasgow city centre, but would be an ideal base if you have a car for the area and is a quiet location.

I was at a wedding at Garfield House yesterday. The day went perfectly and we had a wonderful time. The staff were very helpful and helped make the day stress free. They were attentive but unobtrusive. The food was delicious. The hotel itself is lovely too. The bar areas and restaurant are very modern and tastefully decorated. Everything looks fresh and clean. However, on arriving at the hotel, the first thing I noticed were the plant pots at the foot of the stairs to the main entrance. Clearly previous guests had used them as an ashtray, which did not create a good first impression (as the hotel was quiet when we arrived I would imagine that they had been left from the previous day). I appreciate that it is the guests at fault, but perhaps this is something that the maintenance people at the hotel could clear up regularly. I would imagine that on a nice day, the wedding party would stand on the steps for photos. This is the only criticism for an otherwise perfect day.

Where to start...... from the day I booked the Garfield as my wedding reception John Kelly was a truly amazing gentleman who knew his stuff! Every member of staff who assisted me during the planning where so helpful and nothing was a hassle. Then on the day what I thought couldn't get any better each and every person who worked at the Garfield where superb! John Kelly was on top form ensured every moment of our day went without a hitch. He gave a 110% to us and made sure our wedding was an enjoyable occasion to all. I didn't think I would have been relaxed as I was but John Kelly ensured that by taking on all the stresses and supporting us every step of the way. I would not have changed one thing about our wedding and I would recommend the Garfield and John Kelly every day.

"Great hotel with superb food thats ideally positioned"

I stayed for one night with my wife and we found every aspect of this hotel to be excellent. It is located just off the M80 on the Cumbernauld road. It was a house many years ago and although its been extended it f retains some charm unlike many of the new conversions. The room was perfectly fine with all the facilities you would expect, comfortable bed and area for my wife to fix her hair in the morning. She often says the sockets are not located on top of the dresser and awkward to access with straighteners, so she was pleased to report accessible sockets, happy wife happy life. We eat from the lunch menu as we were out for the evening and although it was just fish and chips it was very very good fish and chips. Same for breakfast, we just had cereal and toast but presentation and service was excellent both times and the restaurant is a nice place to relax and enjoy your food. The staff is the hotels biggest asset, they are seasoned professionals who know how to look after you. Not too in your face and not hard to find when you need someone, a difficult balance but in my experience they strike the right balance. I'd recommend this hotel and as it was my first stay at a Best Western I'd look at their other hotels and consider them for other future days and weekends away.

"5* Family Christening"

We celebrated our son's Christening yesterday within the Buchanan Suite at the Garfield Hotel. What a lovely day in a lovely setting! Brilliant staff, venue AND food. A rare find in my experience. The Buchanan Suite was large, modern, very stylish and most importantly, immaculately clean!! The staff were amazing from start to finish. Very attentive and obviously very experienced. They could not have been more helpful and dressed the hall for us arriving, setting out all of our decorations which we were able to drop off the night before. We opted for a 2 course sit down meal. The food was really tasty, with generous portions and a great variety of options to choose from. Special thanks to the chef who managed to please a very fussy celiac vegetarian guest on the day with a lovely individual meal designed to suit her tastes. This has literally NEVER happened at any other family function we have hosted or attended. Thank you all at the Garfield for making our day a special one. We will most definitely be back again soon. I stayed here after being to Aberdeen working on my way home to darlington and I'm very picky but couldn't find a problem the room is nice and clean and I had tea in the restaurant bar which was very nice try the Aberdeen Angus steak pie the car park is really I would stay again.

We initially booked this hotel because it was classed as dog friendly. Always hard to find somewhere. What a hidden gem this place is. Staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough to help. The manager that was on at the time was very chatty and polite. Rooms are clean and of a good standard as well as well decorated. We ate in the hotel. Food was very nice and at a reasonable price. Hotel is set back away from the main road. You can walk into the countryside behind the hotel if you want a stroll. An adjacent field is suitable for walking the dog. We will certainly stay again. Not just when we have our dog but when touring on the motorcycles.

Excellent hotel. Onsite parking is a bonus, railway station about a 10 minute walk. Food is excellent. Hotel is always clean and the staff are amazing, always willing to help. Attended a family wedding here too and everything went very well. Would definately recommend.

Our friends and ourselves, for years have been at various venues over the Christmas period and enjoyed party nights and over night stays. Some have been better than others but by far the best is this venue. John Kelly and his team were fantastic, the service and the food was excellent. The DJ played at a level we could still have a conversation and the hot pies at the end of the night were just the icing on the cake. I honestly cannot rate this venue any higher, very impressed and will use them more often in 2018. We have heard their tribute nights are all booked up weeks in advance! Graham & Aileen Mackay

We attended a wedding in this hotel on the 27th of December 2017. We stayed in room 36 - a massive comfortable beautifully decorated suite. We had a delicious breakfast with table service. The food was freshly prepared, warm and tasty. The staff is the best credit to this hotel. They are so friendly, helpful and go out of their way to assist. We will definately return! For our work Christmas night out this year, we attended a party night at the hotel! Our welcome to the hotel was excellent! The meal was of a high standard and the party night was just fantastic! Some of us stayed overnight also, the room was spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable! We are already talking about next years visit - although we may attend a tribute night before then, as we had done this year also! I can't fault this hotel at all, all the staff are friendly (especially John and Gillian) and it always feels nice to visit! Looking forward to returning very soon!

Lovely hotel. Rooms are spotless comfy bed great night sleep. Staff are very friendly and helpful they let us have a late check out which always makes it better. Food is lovely not had breakfast but lunch and dinner never disappoints. Returned a few times.

Booked via booking.com for a dog friendly hotel and also sent a separate email to say Ollie my well behaved Labradoodle was with us. On arrival at 16:00 having travelled for 3 1/2 hrs the man on reception gave me a key to room 48 a suite (I had paid extra for an executive room). He saw the dog and went to the back of reception and we could hear him saying they have a dog! He then came back and said the nice room he had given us was suddenly not ready and gave us room 31. Obviously this was a lie as we overheard the conversation! He then went on to say the dog was not allowed in any of the public areas only to walk to the room. This defeated the idea of being dog friendly as we like to be with the dog and not leave him in a strange room. We walked to room 31 it was old fashioned dark and miserable and totally ruined our stay. We travel every week with our consultancy work and always take the dog so this was awful as we had to get a takeaway and eat it in a dingy room. Garfield House you are not dog friendly so don't purport to be so! Additionally definitely don't lie to your customers by saying the room at four o'clock (when you can check in at 14:00) isn't ready and repossess that room key and replace with a dingy room a key to a dog house.... very dissatisfied.

I was with a group of 30 people and was looking forward to the tribute acts that were on offer plus Christmas dinner. The function room that we were in was not very warm and some of our group had to put coats back on and also asked staff to check to see in any windows were open as their was a constant draft coming from somewhere. When the soup came it was lovely and warm, but main course was not up to standard. The tribute acts were not that great as well. No one was staying in the hotel from the group as were able to travel home after night out

Excellent from start to finish. Met by a lovely man (sorry didn't catch his name) who organised fizz for our party. Then took us to our table. Very nicely decorated too. Service, food and atmosphere excellent. We left a tip for the staff with our thanks. We danced all night. Lovely touch with homemade hot pies at end of night. Well done Garfield Hotel. On arrival room was excellent and spotless clean. Tribute night for colleagues and friends. Manager John Kelly welcomed us at the function suite and as always looked after his guests and helped make our night even more enjoyable. Food was delicious and nice and hot. Staff so attentive and pleasant. Entertainment was fantastic. Michael Buble and Robbie Williams tribute. Sounded like the real deal. We danced our way passed midnight to the excellent DJ tunes and next morning had the most delicious breakfast served by more lovely staff. Big shout out to Ross the duty manager for making breakfast so pleasant. Would def return. Roll on next time.xxx

Very clean bedroom with extremely comfortable bed and good size bathroom. Had dinner at the hotel which was very good and good selection from the menu, service was good. There was a great choice and selection from the breakfast menu I had the full Scottish which was perfect and set me up for the day.

This was a very comfortable place to rest before going to work. The staff were very organised and pleasant on arrival. The room was very clean and comfortable. There was no noise around so I got a good nights sleep in a very comfortable bed. Breakfast in the morning was also very nice. The waitress was very polite and the hot food came in good time. It was a nice relaxed start to the day. Thank you.

Despite living in local area for 10 years, this was my first visit to Garfield for a meal. The restaurant was really busy on Friday lunch time so obviously it is a good place, however due to the business my friend and I were slightly neglected. After being seated we waited 25 mins before anyone came to our table...we had to go and get someone to come and serve us. From there it then took a further a 25 mins for what was really a soup and sandwich. The food was mixed-up presented well and lovely soup and salad however my croque Monsieur was so salty that I could only eat half. I told the waiter this when they came for my dishes and was apologised too but still paid full price. The hotel is beautiful so it's disappointed that this was my experience. Especially waiting so long for food while I'm 9 months pregnant. I will probably try again in future and hope for a better experience then.

Stayed for one evening and the sockets in the room tripped out Manager and desk staff could not apologise enough, offered recompense and opportunity to charge any phones etc while waiting for electrician Sorted out with no fuss. Good food and service at dinner I'm 6 foot, 17 stone and felt small in the massive bed Stayed room 35 and it's lovely and quiet Spotlessly clean with good powerful shower 15 mins from city Will stay here again

Wow! What a suite I was given, having stayed in no more than a matchbox all week I was warmly welcomed into one of the suites as Garfield House. On entering I actually think it may have been bigger than my apartment! All in all the hotel was superb, clean, modern, friendly staff and a fantastic restaurant to boot. Further to this the bed was nice and firm and I had a great evenings sleep and awoke to a fine freshly cooked full Scottish breakfast. I can't wait to return in the near future on my next business trip to Glasgow.

We were there for an evening wedding reception. Our rooms were available early, we enjoyed early entry and had plenty of time after our journey to get ready for the wedding. Staff, reception, concierge and chambermaids all very jolly and helpful. Slight mix up with the room, but it was sorted. It was a nice change to have breakfast served to the table, rather than a buffet. The catering for the wedding meal and afterwards was top class, very efficient but relaxed. Food was excellent. Well done.

I use this hotel mostly during the day for business purposes. There is a train station a short walk away and from there the train time is about 15 minutes to Glasgow city centre, and the Garfield offers much better value than the city centre. The menu varies and the food is always excellent . If you don't fancy what's on the menu, tell them what you would like and they will make very effort to prepare what you want. Alway good service. The hotel is well furnished. Comfortable in the lounge area and the dining area. Good car parking and good links to the motorways. I have also been for meals with family and friends and always had a good evening

Stayed at this hotel for two nights. Great experience, lovely friendly helpful staff. Fabulous breakfast, sorry I didn't get to have dinner there the menu looked lovely. Very clean hotel, room lovely would difinitely stay again. There is no lift at the hotel but they have groundfloor rooms if you can't manage stairs and the staff were very accomodating in this regard as I was travelling with my mother who couldn't use the stairs. Thanks to all the staff at the Garfield you made our stay very enjoyable!

My wife and I stayed at Garfield House Hotel for three nights. We had stayed here last year and I am delighted that we returned. "Great hotel but location is a bit remote"

The hotel,rooms staff service, breakfast/food are spot on and Garfield House is good value but the location of the hotel was a slight issue for me. If your working nearby and only staying for the odd night it's a good option but i like to be able to have a wander out of the hotel and there's very little within walking distance. Working in Park Head i did some slap shod research before booking Garfield House and looking on the map: Stepps looked to be fairly close. I soon learned a valuable lesson though that getting into Glasgow in a morning is much more of an fraught process then getting out of it. Looking at the numerous stellar reviews the hotel gets, 3 stars might seem a bit harsh but personally it was just the location that didn't work for me.

First impression of the hotel wasn't that good. Had to fight my way through a wedding party to get to the check-in reception. The room could be cleaner. The waiters in the restaurant were too eager to take orders. Got locked out of my room twice before check-out time/ they had re-coded the room key before time.

"Most comfortable bed I have ever slept in"

I get hotels booked by my office, sometimes they're good, great, okay or, well, not so much fun. I'll tell you of the downside - single bed rooms just feel a little too small, and no AC. But that's it - the car park is huge, the furnishings and fittings perfect, the room was very well fitted out and the bed.... seriously - though I'm not sure if you could actually steal a bed - but it would be worth the effort! The food is great also... and whatever you do, do not try the Brewers Fayre across the road - it's dire. Great stay, loved it - would most certainly return!!

My husband and I stayed here for one night on our way home but would have loved to stay longer. The room was very comfortable and spacious and all the staff were really friendly. We didn't have an evening meal here but really enjoyed breakfast. Plenty of choice even for me being a vegan. I left a pair of shoes and to my surprise they sent them on to me. Great service. Would definitely return and recommend.

We stayed at Garfield House on our way up to Scotland for a holiday We arrived to a busy foyer where there was a wedding in progress as well as those of us booking in Lovely to see the kilts and the bagpipes but even better to see how Ian coped calmly and efficiently Maybe it was my stick( recovering from a broken hip!) but he gave us a fantastic room downstairs rather than the one already allocated on the first floor ( we didn't mind the first floor and didn't ask for a ground floor room) It made our holiday The hotel is beautiful and kept to a high standard We had an evening meal and breakfast - both were excellent with a varied evening meal menu - the chocolate 'mousse in a chocolate basket '( can't remember it's name was gorgeous Would highly recommend this hotel

"Evening meal"

We have eaten here before, however I am afraid we won't be back. Service non existent, meal poor, my husband's burger tasted awful and was not edible. Table was not cleared and no one came to ask if we had enjoyed our food or if we wanted a dessert or coffee. We had to go to the bar to pay our bill and even then we were not asked if we had enjoyed our meal.

Fantastic hotel, warm and friendly staff, ideal for business or pleasure - and dog friendly! Have stayed here several times over the past year while visiting my Mother-in-Law in hospital. Staff have been fantastic, food is great and best of all we have been able to bring our two small terriers who now also love the place and see it as a home-from-home... Would recommend anyone to choose it as a place either convenient to Glasgow for business or as a base to explore the fantastic surrounding area.

"Very bad service and extremely poor food"

We were here several years ago and quite frankly were appalled at the standard of the service. In fact this was another place we decided to exit without actually getting to the point of eating or drinking due to the lack of service. A week or so ago we decided to give it another go for lunch, after all it has been a number of years since we were last here! What can I say, not very much except not a lot has changed, although to be fair we did actually get seated and had something to eat which was a vast improvement on our previous visit. We had the two course lunch menu at £12.50. I shall be very frank, there was a very poor choice and in the end we went for the prawn cocktail and soup to start then I had the braised shin and my other half had chicken pie. It was not what I would call good food, it was ok but barely ok. It was edible but we shall not be returning as we can get a much better meal, better quality and superior service, in the city centre. In fact you can get a much better meal with better service in the Buchanan Gate along the road and that's a Brewers Fayre restaurant!!! Kind of says it all really!

"Lovely room and great staff"

We spent 3 nights here and would certainly use the hotel again. We stayed in room (31) which was extremely spacious and quiet. The hotel is very well decorated. The staff were lovely, friendly yet professional and efficient. They made a great fuss of our exceptionally well behaved Labrador. Breakfast was good, a little more fresh fruit and choice of yogurts would be good. Dinner was good but my husband had to send his steak pie back but the replacement burger was good.

Stayed while on our way to struy ,firstly staff were very friendly and helpful the hotel was spotless nice atmosphere,only small thing was our room a lamp light didn't work and empty toiletrie bottles left in bathroom.Breakfast in the morning excellent one of the best ones I've had .I would recommend and would definitely stay here again .

The staff make this the best place to stay. They care that you experience the best stay possible. Nothing is as good as home, but this is close, so always my first choice. Well maintained, clean, great food, great staff. What more could I wish for?

Spent one night here. The room was small but it was clean. The bed was super comfy and the bathroom very clean and modena. Will be coming back if in the area again! Also had free wifi, and agood rand of coffee and tea in room.

Visited with colleagues, all food received was delicious, would return again. There are deals on for starters and a main but nothing that was gluten free so had other options. Food did take a while to arrive was the only issue especially as we were on a lunch break. Nevertheless would return.

"Quiet anniversary dinner"

My wife had previously visited on works nights out and was impressed every time. We decided to go to quietly celebrate our wedding anniversary, and I could not have been more satisfied. This won't be classed as a "high class cordon bleu" ( aka ripoff ) restaurant but from start to finish we would not fault it Very friendly staff from when we arrived until we left Good choice of food and drinks and priced for all budgets Food well prepared and served All in all a very pleasant experience

Nothing else much in the area, from what I could see, so it's crucial that the hotel provides all you might need - and it does! A fabulously friendly welcome from the cheery receptionist - he checked us in, and out and organised the restaurant and engaged in very cheery chat. A lovely start. Room was lovely, restaurant was good for dinner, nice choice of drinks available in the bar, and a delicious Scottish cooked breakfast. Clock radio with usb point for charging was a very welcome addition. Couldn't fault the hotel at all.

"Home visit "

Having lived in England for many years, my trips back to Scotland have always been north of where I used to live. This occasion was to see family and the Garfield was our choice of residence. Our room was an executive one and although it didn't look like the one advertised in their brochure, it was very spacious, accommodating, clean and comfortable. Especially the bed! Plenty of space in the car park which is to be expected as this hotel hosts many, many weddings. That in itself speaks volumes although it may mean a very busy hotel on a weekend! The restaurant has very pleasing decor and excellent food to match - you won't be disappointed. Breakfast was 'ok' but plentiful and how many hotels serve a pot of tea containing two tea bags? Staff are very friendly and professional. Happily stay here again.

"Great staff shame about the cows"

We have stayed here before and have to say that's why we returned. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was large but too warm so window was opened to let some cold air in. The cows in the field in the field next to the hotel grounds didn't seem to sleep At all and made so much noise. So I couldn't sleep for the noise or if window was closed I couldn't sleep for the heat. Breatfast was excellent, menus in restaurant was not great and I would say overpriced. Very handy for the fort shopping.

Went on Saturday for my friends wedding and the staff from the girls looking after the rooms, to the reception staff, all the girls serving meals and the bar staff were outstanding could not praise all these people enough, thank you all for making it a very special day. "Perfect Family Celebration"

Garfield House Hotel was the ideal venue for our family celebration. Our requirements were discussed in a friendly and professional way and we were shown alternative rooms, menus and prices. Everything was well organised over two further meetings and all our options and requirements were met. On the evening in question the event went very well, with perfect organisation, lovely meals and excellent service. For those family members wishing to stay over at the end, the accommodation and breakfast were superb. Our thanks to John Kelly and staff for a most enjoyable experience.

"Good hotel handy for Glasgow Cathedral district"

Ample parking. Good location just off the M80. I was working on Cathedral Street in Glasgow and found this to be an extremely easy commute. My room was a good size overlooking a field. There was a busy road nearby, though road noise does not bother me. The bed was very comfy. Had 3 great nights sleep here. Staff were excellent - especially the reception staff who were always friendly. Only downside is that there aren't loads of eateries near by, though there is a restaurant in the hotel. I would stay again.

Stayed at this hotel for a business trip just for the night. Food was fantastic and the staff were very friendly, made me feel very welcome and had great banter. Had a good night sleep and had all I needed in the room. Would highly recommend.

Stayed here again after several years and it was every bit as good as the first stay. Staff very pleasant and very helpful. The breakfast were excellent can't wait to stay again thank you. It is very close to the fort shopping centre which was great for us as I love to shop.

"Very handy for Glasgow"

Booked this hotel a few weeks before a visit to a concert, as the prices of other Glasgow hotels were going through the roof. We were prepared to drive the 8 miles or so into Glasgow but then discovered the hotel is about 0.5 miles from Stepps railway station, which has its own car park. Rail travel times are 15 minutes on the fast route to Glasgow Queen Street station; 25 minutes on the slower journey. Off-peak return fare only £3.40 - I don't think you could park in the city centre for that. Last train from Queen Street just around midnight. The hotel itself is well furnished to a modern internal design, & our room was very clean. The staff were very friendly. The car park fronts onto a dual carriageway, & provides a barrier between the carriageway & the hotel, & so there was no traffic noise. Access is off a residential road, so the hotel location is quiet. Highly recommended & wouldn't hesitate to stay there again when in the vacinity

Slightly out from the city and not much nearby but fine for us rooms very spacious and clean nice comfy bed and bathroom was clean shower powerful and warm. Hotel staff friendly and helpful and overall hotel was well kept although floorboards are very squeaky (but too be expected from an old building)

This is the most friendly hotel that I have ever stayed at! The atmosphere is excellent. All the staff are always very cheerful and helpful. All rooms are well proportions, light and airy and extremely comfortable. The resterAunt always has a comprehensive menu of appetising meals. The bar is well stocked We have stayed at this hotel five or six times and keep going back. We never like departing.

My room and ensuite bathroom were huge and absolutely spotless,with every amenity you could require (including Bluetooth docking station) As with the whole hotel the decor was fresh and modern but still full of character. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. All the staff were exceptional, professional and attentive but also extremely warm, friendly and welcoming. All in all one of the best hotel experiences I have ever enjoyed.

"Pleasent surprise "

We stayed here for only a night. Our relatives had their small family wedding at the hotel. Much nicer hotel you think! They welcomed us so nicely and kept us happy all the way through! Our room was fantastic. Cosy and very clean. Enough place for everything and their shower is perfect! Lots of hotel has no pressure at their shower which I hate but I love them! Drinks are served fast and the food was very very delicious! All staff was extremely helpful and lovely. Very good stay! Thank you!

"Great Rooms, customer service and location"

This was a repeat visit for us. We base ourself here when visiting Scotland as good free parking at hotel and all Central Scotland locations easily reached by car. There is a rail station approx ten minute walk which takes you into Glasgow. The staff are very friendly and informative. Restaurant is good with a good menu selection. Great breakfast with a continental buffet and cooked breakfast cooked to order. Great visit again, we will be back.

"Amazing welcome and treated like royalty!"

We stopped at the Garfield Hotel yesterday on our way to the Scotland v England match. We had been driving for over three hours, with our young son, who was a mascot at the match later that day. When we mentioned this, we were immediately ushered through to the restaurant, where our son was told his lunch would be 'on the Garfield'. The food and service were excellent, and our son was treated like a celebrity (which he really loved!) - and got his photo taken with the Manager before we left. Special thanks to Ross for the fantastic meal and banter. Our son was desperate to go back for tea after the game, but sadly we needed to get back on the road. We will definitely be back, and would recommend the Garfield to anyone. Thank you, guys!

"Great hotel in Stepps"

Overnight business trip. Staff were friendly and were flexible on meals (we needed to leave early which they accommodated). Restaurant was good for evening meal although a little expensive. Rooms were really good although no air conditioning so windows were the only cooling option which were noisy.

We had a party of 15 adults and 5 children at the hotel for a meal on Saturday 3rd June 2017. The food was excellent and well presented. The staff could not do enough to make our evening enjoyable. We all thoroughly enjoýed ourselves. Super venùe.

We recently got married at The Garfield(13/5) and cannot thank them enough for the fantastic experience we, and all our 150 guests, enjoyed. From the initial booking back in October last year right up the day of the Wedding, the management and staff made us feel like true VIPs. The professionalism and courtesy shown is a credit to the owners and to the hotel profession. The staff made everything so simple and they certainly go the extra mile to make a difference---and they do it with such obvious pride and enjoyment! For special mention we must praise Tuathal, John, Kara, Lisa and Ross for their excellent customer care, and a special note to Leon, the Head Chef---just fantastic--all our guests were raving about the quality and presentation of your food--thank you all. We cannot recommend The Garfield highly enough---if you are looking for a top quality Hotel in the Glasgow area you have now found it! As a Wedding Venue it was perfect. The planning and arrangements all went 100% to plan on the day due to the staff being so highly professional and motivated. "Garfield House Stepps - great place to stay"

This hotel was in a convenient location for our travel plans and not so close to the city. It's convenient to the train and bus service. There's plenty of free parking on-site. Breakfast can be part of the price and the food was excellent. Staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. Our room was very nice and we did get a BW upgrade when available. Room amenities were excellent, good amount of space and upgraded bath facilities.

Was coming here for a wedding so booked a room too, the hotel is beautiful inside and they done a really good job with the wedding. The place looked great. We ate dinner in the restaurant which was really good, staff were great, very chatty and friendly, especially the Irish manager (not sure of his name). Really great service all round. The rooms were cosy, and I had plenty of room to get ready, blow my hair etc. so not too small. Bed was really comfy. We asked for breakfast in bed, unfortunately we were both very hungover so never ate much of it but what I did eat was really good, you just filled in a little tick card and left it in your door the night before which I love! Would recommend this to anyone for a wedding or even just a nice night away, there isn't much nearby so its lucky the food is so nice that you can just come here for a nice relaxing night away too. 10/10

The evening meal was excellent with a good choice, but not too much, which I think makes life a lot easier. The location is great for what we wanted it for. The railway station is about a 10 minute walk away and takes you straight into Glasgow Queens street in about 15 minutes. All major roads are close by for commuting/visiting the likes of Sterling, Edinburgh, Perth and much more. If you are site seeing in central Scotland, this is a great base, as you can get to and from a lot of places from here within an hour or so. The room was clean, tidy and comfortable, although the room we had was near the delivery yard, so a little noisy first thing in the morning for a short time only. However, a good alarm call to get up. I think anyone would be hard pressed to have anything bad to say about this hotel. Good value all round!

Nice hotel. Parking is at the door. The room was just big enough, but comfortable. The en-suite bathroom was modern and in good working order, with a shelf for the shampoo bottle and a hook for clothes. I had requested a walk-in shower, which was only available in an Executive room (at extra cost) because the "wet room" on the ground floor was already occupied. Standard rooms only have showers over the bath. However, the bath was low to step into, so I managed. There is no lift, but the stairs are shallow. The bar food was good and tasty, although my Prawn Laksa was an interesting version of the dish, which included a tomato-flavoured soup rather than the coconut milk fish stock I was expecting. The staff were friendly and helpful and overall the Garfield is a good alternative to the nearby Inn, and sometimes cheaper.

Fairly comfortable. Good location for training into Glasgow to see the sites. Our room was comfortable, but no view, overlooked a rear flat roof. On the whole the staff were very friendly, competent, and caring. Several niggles. Firstly, every hotel and guest house I have stayed at provided complimantary bottled water. On our arrival there was one (and a chocolate bar). When we returned after our day out, there was no water. When I asked at reception I was told that they only provided one bottle per visit, as a "gift" from the hotel. Secondly, the food was ok but appeared to come from a caterer. Doubt very much if it was cooked fresh on the premises. View reinforced by the fact that someone who appeared to be the the chef seemed spent a lot of time wandering around in the restaurant and bar, particularly when our meals were being prepared. Lastly, only memeber staff that let it down was a female receptionist. Why didn't we say anything about the above? Because there was a distinct lack of interest. Usually we are asked how was our stay. Not here. Didn't even acknowledge that I was a BW Rewards member. I would recommend this hotel, as a base for visiting Glasgow, but I wouldn't go back.

Went here with my wife just to get away for the night. Soon as we got our room we were really impressed by it, was a generous size with a added couch to. The food and drink was also very good especially the breakfast, it was delicious. So all in all was well worth a visit and we will be back for more very soon.

I have been staying at this hotel for the last 2 years on a weekly basis as part of my work and I have found it to be excellent and very comfortable. The staff are friendly and the restaurant is good with a broad menu that changes every 3 to 6 months. It is ideal for both business and leisure and has good access for the rest of the Glasgow / Edinburgh belt of Scotland.

We were married at the Garfield in February 2017. From the moment we walked through the front door, months earlier, we knew it was where we would have our reception. The staff, particularly John and Kara helped make our day a fantastic and memorable one. The planning and attention to detail beforehand put us at ease, any request we had was accommodated and we were left in no doubt that we were in safe hands. The reception itself was terrific and all through the photos, meal and speeches the staff kept the day rolling smoothly. The dance floor was heaving all night and the three bars on the go ensured a short wait for your drink (very important to our lot). Many stayed over including ourselves and the bridal suite was excellent The feedback we've had from our guests confirmed how we felt about the hotel All in all it was a fantastic day which we wish could have went on and on. Had dinner here with our Glaswegian friends. We were a party of 7.Nice ambience in the restaurant with sufficient room between tables as not to feel hemmed in as in some places. Plenty of choice on the menu to cover most tastes. Food is of a good standard without frills. Scallops with black pudding was nice but just fell short of hitting that wow. Can't really fault the fish and chips. Sea Bass was nice but did have quite a kick from the chillies in the rice. Fine for me as I don't mind some heat but might be a bit much for others. Service is efficient and very friendly. Too full for pudding but all in all an enjoyable night and we would definetly return if in the area.

What an amazing place to have a wedding. Well worth the trip over from Australia to spend a special day and night at the Garfield Hotel. The staff were all lovely and the day was conducted well by the manager. Absolutely stunning gardens for photos and a great 4 course meal. We booked the hotel at the very last minute, I spoke over the phone with a fantastic lady, Lisa she is a real asset to the hotel and a live example of customer services ! Was the first trip for us (my girlfriend and I), on arrival where the experience begun a very welcome check in, in the room a very nice bottle of ITALIAN wine (I am Italian). Dinner at the restaurant very nice and tasty Fish pie ! Sunday roast and burger very nice too ! The overall experience was absolutely fantastic! See some picture so you get an idea ! Was met by man on the front desk who was very smart ,courteous and helpful . Advised where our rooms were and advised about the dining times . Room was clean tidy and larger than stayed in before . Bed was amazing so comfortable and so were the pillows had a great nights sleep . Shower in the morning was refreshing . Also plenty of tea and coffee facilities and lovely shortbread biscuits . Can't speak more highly of this hotel. Fantastic staff who have treated my little blind rescue dog like he's royalty. Beautiful room that has views over looking fields full of horses. Really handy location, just off the motorway, and for me personally it's a 10 minute drive from my sisters. I previously had been a very loyal customer of Premier Inn just across the road ( I travel up to Scotland 4/5 times a year to visit family) but had to choose Best Western on this occasion as I have just adopted my blind rescue dog.....well Best Western you have got yourself a new loyal frequent customer. Many thanks to the wonderful staff on reception and Siz ( my blind dog) and I shall see you again!

Very friendly staff who want you to have a good time and always have a ready smile. Clean rooms with new bathrooms and comfortable beds. Really good "Scottish breakfast" . Intermittent Wi-Fi was annoying as kept having to re-connect.

Disappointing main course, escalope of chicken was dry & tasteless and veg was just average, service was excellent wine was perfectly chilled and pudding was nice. All in all a very overpriced meal for quality we received. I feel that for such a lovely place and good staff the food really lets the place down, menu is also pretty boring & really needs to be looked at by management.

"Never be back"

I have stayed here many times and the staff very good. This time unfortunately we were put in room 17, very noisy with the sound of a turbine or boiler or the like. The porter was helpful and said he "could feel the vibration ". There were no rooms left and we were very tired so I had to check out at 00.30 and get to the local Premier Inn where we got a great sleep, albeit from 01.00 and we had to be up at 08.00. The night porter in the Garfield asked for our number, but alas no response and therefore we are also left further out of pocket as we had to pay £91 at the PI on top of the money the Garfield took. I sent them an email this morning but no response. All in all pretty poor and unless there is a good reason for ignoring us I can only assume the hotel manager at the Garfield doesn't give a toss really. So we vote with our cheque books! I must have spent more than £1000 there in the last six months but won't be back to tolerate this lack of basic respect. Pity I have to give a star! Kind regards

Centrally located with great views of Glasgow. Venue hosts a lot of functions. It is clean and rooms cleaned by helpful staff. We held our daughters 30th Birthday celebration at the Garfield Hotel at the weekend and I have to say it was a fantastic experience enjoyed by all family and friends. We organised the event pretty much last minute and were lucky to secure a booking so close to Christmas as their other functions rooms had been fully booked. The staff were great in accommodating us and setting up the Drawing room for around 30 guests. The meal was lovely and piping hot and the staff were more than helpful in setting up the room to accommodate us having a meal and then resetting in order that we could enjoy the live music we had organised in a more intimate setting. All of the staff were friendly, efficient and nothing was too much trouble, however I have to give special thanks to John for providing such patience and helpful input in ensuring we were able to make the most from the accommodation as well as guiding us through the menus, to Cara and her Team who looked after us so well on the night and to Hazel who managed the bar and drinks so efficiently. Thank you all for making my daughters birthday such a memorable one. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to family and friends for any future events you were all fantastic thank you and well done!

"Disaster at the garfield"

On the 14th my family attended the garfield hotel for a family meal for my brothers 50th. The meal had been booked a few weeks before for 12 people and had been given away menus with her to look at what would be on offer. When we arrived for the meal we noticed set menus at the table, when asked about this we were told "because you have over ten people in your party you have to choose from a set menu of 4 starters 4 main course and 4 desserts" I've never heard of something so stupid in my life. Other people in the restaurant were choosing from the main menu...if we were to come in separate groups would we have been given set menus or treated like 12 individual customers??we were after seeing the manager allowed to choose from an extra 2 main meals of steak frittes and fish and chips.this was only after 1 waitress had said they only cater for numbers of that size for special occasions...itwas then pointed out it was a 50th birthday meal though I think the balloons saying happy 50th would of obviously pointed this out.also when booking the meal my parents were never told about this over 10 people set menu thing. So after sitting down my partner and I ordered drinks as rest of my family had already done this. I ordered a large red wine and my partner a soft drink.when the waitress returned she sat the soft drink in front of me.as I was about to say that is for my partner the waitress tried to move the soft drink but in process knocked the glass of red wine all over me. Apologies were given but a full glass of red wine as you could imagine does make quite a mess. Before we had even ordered starters I was having to return home for a change of clothes,it was lucky that I live 5 minutes away. On return my partner and I then received our drinks (this time taking cover) which I assumed would be free for the trouble caused but I'll get back to that later. I had the pea and ham soup for starters which was nice and chicken roulade for main which again was nice. On looking at the other plates of food overall the food looked good so the disaster of a night has nothing to do with the chef. So after we had finished my dad paid the full bill but didn't tell us price, I had asked if he received any discount or at least my drink not to be charged...again never told me. It was only today when I seen the full bill of £245 pound that I seen that the red wine had been included in the price and there was no discount other than my niece getting a chocolate brownie for free. Overall a terrible visit to a restaurant that the 12 of us had been to before for my parents wedding anniversary and had a nice meal and given the choice of the full menu. This was the reason we returned but we won't be returning again apart from possibly enquiring about a dry cleaning bill being settled for red wine stains.

Attended our friends 6oth birthday celebrations here and was so impressed by this well run hotel and its staff. The attention to detail in every area was a joy, and unusual these days!! The meal was delicious, and piping hot despite serving around 100 of us at the same time, service was excellent and the staff were all efficient and friendly. We stayed overnight, and the high standards continued in the room and at breakfast. Truly a very enjoyable occasion - well done John - you and your team run a very tight ship!

"Fantastic hotel"

I've stayed here two to three nights a week for business. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The bedrooms are large and very comfortable, I always seem to sleep well there. The breakfast and evening meals are good and are served by staff who are friendly and attentive. All the staff take pride in their hotel. It also provides a good service for business meetings. This is the best 3 Star hotel I've stayed in (it should really be a 4 or 5 star)

Stayed here on Friday (28/10) as part of Wedding. The hotel reception were very welcoming and informative. John Kelly in particular, was excellent and attentive at showing me and my partner around the wedding area and giving us information on holding a wedding there - nothing was too much trouble. The room was stunning, luxurious and comfortable. Had a lovely view of the horses and the hills. Evening meal was absolutely delicious, we both enjoyed the food, great service and relaxed atmosphere. Comfortable bar area and all staff were extremely helpful. Breakfast the next day was very good, fantastic choice. Hotel is very nice, but outside the city. While there a wedding going on so the rooms upstairs noisy. No elevator so had to carry luggage upstairs. Rooms are nice size, with no view. The hotel bar was excellent with comfortable chairs and an attentive staff. Breakfast was excellent in the morning.

comfortable, clean, great access to motorways but almost has a rural feel. Restaurant serves more than adequate food and the staff are all excellent. Beautiful smoked haddock poached to perfection as were the eggs at breakfast. I have stayed here many times and always had a decent stay.

"Great hotel, poor timing"

The hotel fire alarm kept going off in the middle of the night until early morning. There was a guest smoking in the room. Also, the kitchen staff burned something making breakfast. I was glad to know they worked but once was good! There was also a wedding reception held one of the nights I was there. As you can imagine, lots of rowdy guests. I was very tired from the fire alarms from the night before and was none to excited to see wedding guests. The hotel is beautiful and the staff were wonderful. I was just there at the wrong 2 days! I would stay here again though.

"Lovely surprise"

My husband and I have just spent five nights, with our dog, here. Our expectations were not that high but this is a great hotel. We were made welcome when we checked in, our dog was much admired and petted. Our room was clean and spacious, the bathroom immaculate and the beds super comfy. The restaurant was lovely and the food delicious and very reasonably priced. Add to this ample parking and location perfect for the motorway. We will definitely be back. Anne Watson

Attended a wedding here and was very impressed with the quality of food served. Staff were attentive and friendly which can be lacking in a big venue. Toilets smart and clean. Large lounge area at the front of the hotel bright and comfy.

We Were attending a wedding and staying over, our room was very clean and really quite nice. The staff were all helpful and polite. Breakfast staff in the morning were great. The only thing that did bother me was in the rooms it says 24 hour room service. After sitting in the bar until the early hours my partner and i tried ordering a sandwich to be told they weren't offering 24 hour room service. Although this wouldn't put me off staying again it was a little irritating at the time.

Was here on a conference for a couple of days and whilst the hotel lent itself perfectly to what we wanted to do, it was the staff who not only made everything go without a hitch but who also made everyone feel completely at home. The food in the bar and grill was not only varied and incredibly tasty but also great value for money as was the well stocked and very relaxing bar. The bedroom was a good size, with a genuine double bed as opposed to two singles pushed together and a lovely range of toiletries was provided. Opening the curtains to the views across the countryside was a great way to start each day and just relaxing with a coffee in the sumptuous lounge was very welcome throughout the day. Cant fault it to be honest and would happily recommend it to friends and family

Rooms spotless, lovely big clean towels, great as a wedding venue, only downside is the extremely expensive bar prices and also the bars do not accept card payments!. Breakfast was excellent great choice and all fresh. Would definitely stay again.

This is our second visit to the Best Western Garfield House and I have to say that it was as good as our first. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is extremely dog friendly. All the staff we came into contact with made a fuss of our Border Terrier. The room was spotlessly clean and spacious. There was tea, coffee and hot chocolate as well as shortbread. I really appreciated this as I love both hot chocolate and shortbread. The hotel is easy to find and has a good quality car park with ample spaces which is surrounded by well kept grounds. Overall another enjoyable visit to the Best Western Garfield House Hotel. I definitely think that we will be back.

We were very pleasantly surprised by the standard of service, food and rooms in this hotel. We had an executive suite which was not much more expensive than the double rooms, It was very large and well decorated, definitely in the luxury category. We would definitely stay here again.

"Nice Hotel but not dog friendly"

We are taking in a tour of the western Highlands and Islands for my 50th birthday, by me I mean me Sue my wife and our West Highland White Angus using the brilliant train pass called Spirit of Scotland. First stop from Wylam near where we live was Glasgow. It was really hard to find a dog friendly hotel in Glasgow but the Best Western website stated they were extremely dog friendly and would fuss over your dog as much as you as long as you rang their central website so they could find you a dog friendly hotel. We were given a booking at Garfield but we're surprised when we arrived to find that their version of dog friendly is the dog was not allowed in public areas only the room. We were told we could leave him in the room and go out or have a meal in their restaurant as long as Angus remained locked in the room. Any one who books a dog friendly hotel expects restrictions ie we can go in the bar not restaurants and / or sit in a patio outside at the very least. Going to a strange place and locking your dog in a strange room away from you is actually seriously dog unfriendly. Fortunately I complained and a great guy called John allowed us to bring Angus into the lounge area. Later that evening I took Angus for a walk and obviously he did his ablutions which as any responsible owner involved the poo bag but they have no bins outside so we had to walk around the housing estate next door to find a bin! I don't mind hotels restricting or refusing pets but please don't mislead us by claiming they are dog friendly when they are not. Please Best Western do not recommend this hotel as dog friendly it is not! However I will say thank you to John for trying to accommodate us under the hotels rules.

"First impressions - LASTing Impressions"

When I entered the hotel through the reception (18:30)- the first thing that hit me was that there were two members of staff having a general conversation whilst they were surrounded by what can only be described as a bed of dead leaves. Very welcoming... Check-in was easy and the lady receptionist was pleasant and friendly. The instructions to find my room were clear and shortly I was installed in what appeared to be an OK room with the amenities that you would expect at the price level. This was a very humid September day and the room was very warm with the noise of a hidden fan adding to the ambience. I opened the window and checked the view - not much but overlooking a large private house. My thought was that I should have a reasonable stay with such a quiet outlook away from the busy main road. I proceeded to take a meal in the bar grill and chose fish and chips. The meal was served reasonably quickly by a friendly waitress and was on the whole enjoyable save for a few chips being slightly raw. I took a Carling lager and this was actually very good. So good that I had another... The internet connection was amongst the fastest that I have encountered with no messing with intermediary pages asking for religion and inside leg measurement. I needed to go out to my car at 23:00 to retrieve a phone charger, at this point there were around six staff sat around the reception area - still surrounded by dead leaves...come on guys! And so to bed - the mattress was reasonably firm and supportive and I guess that I was soon fast asleep. But not for long! At 5:23 the piercing noise of a (presumably) fire alarm sounding had me leaping out of bed. This then stopped within seconds with no explanation leaving many doors opening and closing along the corridors. Of course this leaves you feeling uneasy and tense. I tried to regain my sleep and after what seemed like ages I must have nodded off - only to be woken by more alarms and flashing lights at 6:00. This time it was accompanied by a loud diesel engine - the bin men had arrived! After again struggling to grab some sleep I was awoken again at 7:15 by the beer delivery. Saved me having to set an alarm clock. Breakfast was served quickly and was very tasty with all the usual fare on offer. So far so so. However when I was packing up to leave - I found the most unpleasant sight - I must have OCD (or perhaps I am just very inquisitive!) as I found myself checking on top of the wardrobe for things that I could have never placed there - it would appear that I am far more inquisitive than the cleaning staff though. There were two items in evidence on the top of the wardrobe 1) a (presumably) empty box for a pregnancy test 2) a (presumably) used sanitary towel. Back at reception - the leaves were still there...

The staff are very helpful nothing is a bother to them. The room was spacious, attractively decorated and clean. We ate our evening meal in the restaurant on two occasions and the food was excellent as was the service. On the whole a very positive experience. We would definitely stay again

Superb. Yet again the people of the Garfield House Hotel meet, and exceed expectations. A huge thanks to Ian, Stephanie, Hazel, Sarah and all the folks in the Kitchen for making this night very enjoyable. You wouldn't have known there was a wedding on in the other suite. Service was great.

I keep giving this hotel good reviews because it earns them. It has the best staff I have experienced in any hotel. It's always clean and the food is really good. Even though my work budget is a bit restricted I can always eat well.

Nice quiet area within easy walking distance to railway that goes to centre of Glasgow, The staff was very helpful and approachable. Restaurant food was very nice especially enjoyed our breakfast the porridge was yummy! The view from our window was a very pastoral country scene.

Visited the Bar and Grill for lunch. We had a sandwich with Fries and Fish and Chips. The service is much improved from the last time we went some years ago. In fact we had avoided the place because of previous poor service. But this time we were pleasantly surprise with very attentive staff. Menu was good for lunch. Will go back now.

"With our three dogs"

With our three dogs we stayed at the Garfield Hotel for 2 nights. When we booked the hotel we had slight reservations as dogs were only allowed in the bedrooms, we thought it would feel uncomfortable walking through the hotel and the grounds with them - In reality, AT NO POINT DID WE FEEL THAT. Every single employee not only made our stay easy and enjoyable but welcomed our dogs (especially Taz) as they made their way through the hotel. The location of the hotel was also great as its close to the motorway. The standard of the hotel, staff and food was excellent not only in terms of professional but friendly, helpful and welcoming. Highly recommend this hotel. We stayed in room 28 and the only down side was the constant noise coming from the beer pumps and the early morning wakeup call by the bin collection truck, won't stay in that room again. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful stay.

John Kelly, Manager of this hotel and his staff provide a very warm, friendly and excellent standard of service. From reception desk to bar, dinner and breakfast all staff were exceptionally welcoming and friendly. We held our Mother's 80th birthday celebration with dinner for 24 guests and it was perfect. We also stayed in the hotel as well which was very comfortable. Would definitely use again for overnight stay and large functions. John and his team couldn't do enough to please us.

"Wedding reception"

We stayed at this hotel as the family wedding we where at had the reception here and what a sound move that turned out to be. The venue was top class and all guests enjoyed the day and night. The hotel itself,although part of a chain, has a familiar local friendly feel to it. We partied into the wee small hours and although the bar closed,as long as we kept the noise level low,we were welcomed. The rooms have beds that swallow you and I'm 6ft 1 and not the slimmest. I didn't get breakfast but given how i was feeling, didn't want it. Overall deserved 4 stars

"Fantastic Service, Food, Ambiance everything with one complaint..."

[Restaurant visit only] What a lovely place to spend a Sunday evening, nice ambiance, people who couldn't do enough for you and really lovely fresh food with a proper home-made feel. Normally on a Sunday we'll cart around to the local Beefeater or such like for a simple bar meal to wind down from a busy weekend just as matter of course, and this time (as locals) decided to give the Garfield House Hotel a spin and we were delighted we did. The people and the décor made a 3* venue feel easily like a 4 star or more. Lovely staff and nothing was a trouble for them. My only complaint was that the card machine didn't have a gratuity function on it as I'd have loved to have tipped well, sadly having no cash in my possession whatsoever I felt terrible having to leave without tipping. We'll remedy this by visiting again soon and leaving a proper tip to redress the balance. A lovely place to go for a small treat or to take friends and family and for the small difference in price to the local haunts, it pays for itself 10 fold just by being such a pleasant place to be. Recommended!

1st night: After a long day trudging through Glasgow, tired, wet, weary, discovered there was a wedding party, electric guitars, booming drums, 8-12 midnight, we walked the streets until midnight. 6am start next morning for bus to Glasgow Green for competitions. 2nd night: Another wedding party - 8-12 midnight. 5am start next morning for ferry . We again walked the streets until midnight. The menu doesn't change at all...except for the odd 'special'. A very rude Italian-Scottish waiter in restaurant who decided that the group of pipe band people should not be served in turn but be left waiting. We had our suspicions which were proven when he didn't realise that my husband and myself were part of the group and he told us 'I'll sit you over here, away from the pipers, and you'll get a better service!' We were actually quite shocked as we watched our friends who were in the restaurant before us, still waving at the waitress looking for service, as we tucked into our pudding! I've never seen anything like it before - we were paying the same as everyone else in the restaurant. There was a comment card left in our room which had been written on the 17.07.16 and even when I left it out on the table in full view, it was ignored.

"Amazing lunch and lovely staff "

Came for lunch today (August 12th) with my wife, having the business lunch deal. Every course was beautiful and the desserts were so tasty. I don't usually write reviews but my wife insisted I mention our waitress. Her name was Stephanie, lovely girl with a lovely smile. Her attitude to the job is refreshing, she got our drinks and took our order all while making friendly conversation and asking about our day, plans for the weekend etc. Lovely change from standard service. She knew the menu and when we asked for recommendations she knew what to say and how to describe the items. This girl is a credit to your hotel! I had the steak frites and my wife had the shin of beef. Wow, the beef just crumbled it was cooked to perfection and the pepper sauce served was lovely. Overall we recommend the bar and grill at the Garfield to anyone and hopefully you get service as wonderful as we did.

I arrived at the hotel at 12pm, which I did not realise was 2 hours early for check in time, I thought that check in time was from 12pm earliest as booking.com asked my time of arrival. When I approached reception a woman with blonde hair, pink scarf round her neck by the looks of it? didn't even ask if I was okay or needed help, I actually had to approach her myself, from then she was very ignorant looked me and down and told me "rooms aren't ready", when I returned at 2pm I again had to approach her she wouldn't assist me... again still very arrogant and not giving us any directions what so ever as how to get to our rooms just mumbled a room number, sign this and shoved to the side.... I felt belittled by her and looked down on as if i shouldn't be there.

My wife and I have just spent two wonderful nights at Garfield House Hotel. It was truly fantastic. From the moment we checked in until we checked out the service was excellent. Our room was immaculate, spacious and very quiet! All the staff are so professional, extremely friendly and very pleasant and helpful. The evening meals were first class and the breakfast was quite superb. I have nothing but praise for the excellent, friendly caring service. First class all round

We visited the hotel with a party of 10 for food. The staff were highly attentive, professional and excellent. Food itself was absolutely delicious and highly recommended. The bill was extremely competitively priced and overall it was an excellent visit.

This hotel is a little jewel. Yes, it's style I'd dated but the decor and the rooms are impeccable. I was told the housekeeper is a tickler who rules with a rod of iron and it shows. Everything looked new. The bedroom was superb and in great condition. The bed was one of the best. Added to this the staff cannot be more helpful. Nothing seems to be to much of a problem and requests are dealt with efficiently and courteously. I was running training event and this is so valuable. Two staff deserve mention in dispatches: Shiree works in the restaurant and has incredible attention to the customer. When my wife ordered oatcakes and cheeses, what arrived was standard biscuits. As we decided to 'complain', Shiree arrived with a plate of oatcakes. "I saw it come out and knew it was wrong!". Overall she looked after us very well indeed. Ross also went beyond the call of duty. When my wife was working iin their training room over lunch, he appeared, concerned she was going to miss her lunch; "Would she like him to bring her some lunch?" It appears also that Rudolph Hess landed not too far from where he used to live! (Weird conversation or not?!) This is a really nice hotel and great value for money. Overall, absolutely no complaints. I strongly commend it.

I stayed here whilst on business as the location is very convenient for work. This is a really great hotel! The staff are all very helpful and friendly and make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. The room is spacious, well equipped and the bed is really comfortable. I ate in the restaurant and the food was absolutely incredible! They offer an Early Diner menu which is really good value for money (2 courses for 13.95 or 3 for 16.95) Breakfast was also great! I can definitely recommend staying here and I will certainly be staying again on my next visit.

I have stayed at the Garfield many times and if in the Glasgow area always try an book a room there. I find the hotel welcoming and the reception staff so friendly. The rooms very comfortable, so much so that I don't want to get out of bed in a morning. Nothing else to say really and I have a reservation there this coming week, tried for two nights but booked up.

I usually stay in the premier inn nearby, but as it was a last minute booking I decided to enhance my Best Western points card and stay Garfield House. Friendly greeting at the reception and room was clean. TV signal was poor And service at the bar was none existent, so ended up going to the brewers fayre over the road. Good breakfast and very nice staff.

We stayed here for a weekend in June when visiting family locally. We had room 36, a suite which was amazingly spacious for our family of four. Super king bed for is and a bed each for the children that could be placed in different locations to suit sleeping arrangements. We also had a dining area, living area and large bathroom. The location of the hotel was great for us making it easy to get to the city centre on no time at all but not in the hustle and bustle. The hotel had a wedding reception and party on both the nights we stayed but this didn't have any impact on us. Breakfast was a choice of cooked or continental. The staff were very accommodating of our five year olds and made us feel at ease when eating in restaurant with them. Fully recommend this hotel and look forward to coming back.

I stay in a lot of hotels, but this is one of the best. I cannot praise it highly enough. We stayed for the weekend whilst visiting family in the area. The accommodation is first rate, but the thing that made the trip so fantastic was the absolutely brilliant staff. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was done with an incredibly pleasant approach. We were travelling with my parents and mother-in-law, all around 90 years old, and the staff were unbelievably kind, helpful and really lovely to them. They fixed windows (that my parents jammed open); provided a complimentary desert, chatted and made a fuss of them and provided first aid, calmly and kindly, when my mother choked on a bit of melon at breakfast. This is a lovely hotel, run by lovely people. An absolute gem and a treat. Thank you all so much.

Warm and welcoming staff make this hotel good. Well appointed spacious rooms, with good facilities. Very clean and tidy. The food in the restaurant was good, and served in a timely and professional manner. Internet connection was good, and the bar area is welcoming and comfortable. I will return on my next trip to Glasgow.

Booked the Garfield Function Suite for mum's 80th Birthday. We had a 2 course meal followed by coffee and cake for over 70 family and friends. Wonderful day.... All the pre-meal preparations with John, The Manager, went well and he catered for all our family's dietary needs without any hassle or inconvenience ie. Gluten free and dairy free. We were also able to do a table plan that the staff implemented for us and we were able to access the room early to put up decorations etc and to allow the pipers to practice, with no issues having pipers playing in the hotel either. All the staff were excellent and followed our plan of when we wanted the meal served with time after it for a slide show before coffee was served with our own Gluten and dairy free cake. We had a few people call off at the last minute due to illness but we were only charged for those who had a meal on the day. Fantastic meal and the event was thoroughly enjoyed by all our guests. A huge thanks to John and all the staff.....

Stayed here with a colleague found the rooms too sporadic n varied for the price. Whilst they were comfortable they were old styled with large gaps under the doors which allowed corridor noise to be heard Went for dinner alone but found the restaurant lacked atmosphere. Didn't use any facilities so unable to comment.

This was our second visit (we booked this visit before we left last time!) Once again a lovely warm friendly welcome. Room was fantastic, nice comfy armchairs, plenty of storage space, comfy bed and for all that it's in a city, peace and quiet. Everywhere is clean and well decorated. Food was great, all had something different and everyone enjoyed what they had. When we booked this trip we mentioned in passing that it was to attend our daughters graduation, we arrived to a letter congratulating her and a bottle of fizz to celebrate and when we arrived back the staff asked how the day went- those touches make such a difference. We plan to be back later in the year! Looking forward to it! Although we didn't have him with us this time, our dog enjoyed his last visit!

I decided to book this hotel as we wanted somewhere near to attend a wedding. The only other option we had was a Premier Inn in the area we wanted to be..and I on checking prices found this wasn't much more expensive actually since breakfast was included possibly the same. While it isn't exactly IN the countryside as such it does have a country feel to it and the area does have nice countryside surrounding it. It had good easy parking..the reception area was nice and the decor was very much higher end boutique style...loved it. I had requested a quiet room..and while the view wasn't amazing..it was quiet and was beautifully decorated..shower room not fabulous but absolutely spotless which is all that mattered to me. We decided to have a light meal since we weren't sure when the evening buffet would be. The dining room is nicely set out and decorated..I was very impressed with the quality of food..we just had a main course each and the food was good..as was the service. We slept really well..bed was comfortable ..and the breakfast was excellent..taken to order coffee served fresh to the table..I hate hotels that make you get your own coffee or do a buffet rather than fresh. Check out was easy as was check in..and I would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in this area...in fact if we lived nearer would happily eat here again. I hadn't realized how easy it was to get to Glasgow airport from this hotel..in fact you could stay here if you had an early flight or were arriving from overseas and didn't want to drive into Glasgow.

In two recent visits I couldn't have been looked after better by the male members of staff at the Garfield. Always friendly and smiling, they are efficient and made both visits a pleasure. The same couldn't be said for the abrupt matronly lady on reception duty who failed to be polite, friendly or smiling when asked for the slightest service or advice. It won't put me off going back, but I'll be selective in terms of whom I ask for service so as not to inconvenience her further.

With our two little dogs we stayed at the Garfield Hotel, Glasgow for 3 nights. When I booked I did have slight reservations as dogs were only allowed in the bedrooms , hence I thought I would feel uncomfortable walking through the hotel and in the grounds with them .......In reality...NOT AT ALL. Every single employee not only made our stay easy and enjoyable but welcomed our dogs as they made their way through the hotel. The location of the hotel was also ideal as I had a meeting in Glasgow (10 mins by car) one day and then we explored Loch Lomand (One easy hour away) another day. The standard of the hotel, staff and food was excellent not only in terms of professional but friendly, helpful and welcoming. Highly recommend this hotel

I attended my sons wedding here although it was on a small family wedding held in the Campsie suite. The surroundings were lovely. The meal was excellent and the managers do staff wereon hand to see everything went well. I would recommend this hotel for any functions.

My husband & I celebrated our Ruby Wedding Anniversary here on Sunday 26th June. It was held in the Campsie Suite. We had a fantastic time. John & his staff looked after us very well and the food was lovely. We are so glad we decided to return here. We had our Engagement dinner, first night as a married couple and our Silver Wedding here. The only reason we did not have our wedding at this venue, was at the time the function facilities was not large enough for our numbers. I decided to host my 50th Birthday Celebrations at the hotel because it is very convenient to where I live.Plus there is a car park.I had been for afternoon tea and dinner before and the hotel had always delivered what I had been expecting. On the party night I had a pre-party dinner for 17 people in the restaurant. My menu was personalised and everyone enjoyed their meal. I booked one room for two of my guests.It did not disappoint. We partied in the Buchanan Suite and enjoyed a lovely buffet for 90 people.I used the services of the hotel D.J.-Mojo-and he ensured that we all had a great time. The staff were all very efficient and friendly across every single department. Management-Cara and John- were excellent at dealing with my many requests,they offered excellent advice and nothing was too much of a bother at the planning stage of my birthday celebrations. On the night of the party,John Kelly was looking after us.To say that this man is outstanding at his job would be an understatement.The night went to plan and John stayed on top of every single detail as had been previously planned with me on numerous discussions.The night was a complete dream for me and I am so very grateful for the fun that we all had.I had an absolute ball! I suppose that I am a customer that demands a very high level of service. I got exactly what I wanted at the Garfield House Hotel. I absolutely recommend this venue.The hotel gets five stars. John Kelly-He gets six stars from me.

We stayed here for 2 nights for our anniversary. The hotel is beautiful and I love the decoration of it. We ate at the hotel on the first night and the food was really nice. Staff were very nice, making conversation and we're helpful. Unfortunately our room was near the beer pumps and this kept us up quite late with the banging noises. We spoke to the man on reception and he explained how they had been fixed and it must of only just started again. We were offered a different room but we only had one night left so we were given a free drink and free breakfast to apologise for the noise. Other than the noise the hotel is beautiful and we will 100% be using this hotel again when we next visit. Thank you to all the staff! Never felt more welcome.

Coming to visit family over the years while in Scotland, we have never stayed in a hotel, always preferring to stay within the family fold. No longer! We've found this little home away from home & will most definitely be back. It's the staff most importantly that sell this hotel for me. John Kelly is an absolute asset, & it's easy to see why he has been here for so long. It just wouldn't be the same without him. What a personality, even though he's a Celtic fan! ;-). He was warm & welcoming & epitomised Scottish hospitality. Brenda also deserves a special mention. Nothing was too much trouble for her & always with a smile, I felt like I'd known these people for years. Everyone we came across was helpful, be it organizing a taxi, an iron or a sandwich in the early hours of the morning! Just the best staff, which you simply don't experience in larger hotels. The hotel itself is comfortable & centrally located. Lounge/bar and restaurant areas lovely & food great. We look forward to our next stay!

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying in this hotel - unfortunately for only one night - on 10 June 2016. We were wishing we were staying for longer, it was such a great experience. From the minute we stepped in until we left we couldn't have found ourselves being made more welcome and everyone on the staff was so friendly and helpful. You can feel that it is a happy place. Room very comfortable and spotlessly clean, food excellent and service impeccable. A most enjoyable stay.

Any hotel that has a chilled bottle of wine and basket of fruit in your room when you check in is going to get a great review. This is a very nice, well run hotel in a quiet area that is very convenient to transportation and attractions in both Glasgow and Edinburgh. The Stepps train station is nearby for trips to Glasgow (and Edinburgh via Glasgow) and the town of Stepps has it own quiet streets and neighborhoods to explore. Our room looked out on a pasture with horses, so it also felt rural. They have a very good restaurant with excellent service. Instead of taking the train to Edinburgh, we recommend the 30 min drive to the large free parking lot at the Edinburgh airport and taking the tram into town.

Had a fantastic sleep all nights. Went fishing nearby and brought the trout back the hotel. Chief Joe Rose, took the challenge of cooking the trout and cooked it to perfection! The staff are accommodating and very kind! I would recommend if you need to stay in the area to definitely check this place out. In order to have good staff you must have good management! Thumbs up to all!

Small hotel but it is good for a base for a weekend stay. Staff very friendly and helpful. It is pricey for the offering but maybe that's the going rate in the area or maybe it's just sterling /euro exchange rate. Breakfast finishes on the dot of 10 so don't be late!

I stayed in this hotel for 3 days, the room was great and the bed was very comfortable which is why I would still recommend this hotel to others. I was however very disappointed with the WIFI as I assumed I would at least be able to check my emails during this trip. The wifi was so bad I could only get some what of a signal sitting next to the bathroom and room door , on the floor and even then it was barely usable. There was no signal at all at other parts of the room. Another thing to mention was the maid. We had put up a do not disturb sign so we could sleep longer, however the maid did not seem to care. The room door was opened while I was still in bed. Thankfully the door was chained from the inside, so it did not fully open. Further more the maid came back in an hour and tried to enter again, despite of the do not disturb sign.

We had lunch here last time for a while as we're off to Spain for some time but I would like to pay tribute to the Staff over 20 odd years who have looked after us at all manner of occasions from family get togethers to birthdays to funerals and everything in between including works Christmas parties or we just wanted a meal out The Garfield was always our 'go to' place. Particular mention must be made of Fergus and Sean whom we have had the privilege to know for all these years and more recently Jose. From the family style welcome, the ambience, old and new decor and of course the food to the way the management care for their staff is unique and I hope it never changes. New managers come and go but nothing should be allowed to change the essence of the Garfield house hotel. Our special place. Gracias amigos. Dios bendiga. (Apologies to José if that's not right. I'm trying)

We didn't sleep over in the hotel, used it as a base to get ready for a family gathering which was a very comfortable few hours. Arrived early morning and purchased breakfast which was ok, not the best I have experienced. If you are a big eater and like your fry in the morning then it may not satisfy you. At £9.95 it was in my opinion overpriced. The rooms are lovely, spacious and clean, décor modern and if you get a room overlooking the fields the view is great. There wasn't a hairdryer in the room that I could see and my only gripe was the fixed shower head. If you are small like me and don't want to wash your hair then fixed shower heads are not the best. Shower caps were provided. Reception staff very nice and cleaning staff polite with a 'good morning' to everyone they met. I would recommend a stay here. One of the best Great Western I have experienced.

We have stayed frequently over the last 20 years but since our last visit the hotel has undergone a major refurbishment of the highest quality. Both public rooms and bedrooms are of a very high standard. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient, the service always excellent. We enjoyed four breakfasts and one dinner all of which were of the highest standard. Our bedroom was tastefully decorated, sumptuously appointed and had a great shower. Faultlessly maintained over our four night stay. There is a large car park and the location is quiet but with easy access to the motorway network. I think it really should be a 4 star hotel. Also, great value for money.

The hotel was not hard to find. Ample parking. A little isolated from downtown life. You WILL need your own transportation. Room was comfortable but compact. Power and plumbing operation was different. Make sure you buy a power adapter for the UK. No elevator so you have to lug your baggage up the stairs and through doorways. Bar and restaurant were pricey. Staff was friendly. We were able to drive over to a nearby shopping area with restaurants. Picked up fresh fruits to snack on. If you arrive on a Sunday, understand that most all businesses are closed.

The Garfield is a very handy hotel if your looking to stay or work in Glasgow. £15 in a private hire taxi. The breakfast buffet is great along with the hot food orders. The alcohol in the bar is a ripoff. £4.80 for a pint of Stella. The rooms are ok but could do with a fridge in them. And better WiFi. The staff can't do enough to help you and if it was not for the staff it would only be a two star. The overall price is on the high side, people were paying on average £110 per room but as I was on working terms that was not up to me.

We stayed here one night last weekend and I believe we stayed in one of the newly refurbed rooms and it was lovely. I couldn't believe the size of the room! One size had the bed and the other had a lovely little lounge area which was nice to have a little place to sit within the room away from the sleeping area. The bathroom was a good size with a very good but basic shower. And a walk in wardrobe, every girls dream! The outside of the hotel was stunning with a massive car park and nice little areas to sit outside if you're lucky enough to get the weather. The decor on the inside was really modern and up to date with a nice little seating area next to the bar which was very grand. Looks a lot more expensive than it is. I think some of the corridors and rooms still have to be updated but happy with what it looked like so far and will be stunning once it's finished. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

We stayed at the Garfield hotel for 1 night. Our room was lovely and had everything we needed and spotlessly clean. Couldn't fault staff , they were very pleasant , helpful and made us feel very welcome. I would definitely stay in this hotel again... Had a very enjoyable stay.

Very welcoming and comfortable hotel with efficient and pleasant staff. Was a large wedding one day and a large conference type event another, but the staff were able to manage everything well. Have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

This is a luxury hotel situated in a location that is easy to access by road. There are ample parking spaces which are surrounded by gardens and trees. The staff at this hotel are friendly and efficient. We ordered a meal via room service and it arrived in an impressively short amount of time. The bedroom itself was a pleasant mix of traditional and modern. There was a wooden table and desk as well as a flat screen TV. The room had tea and coffee making facilities, a trouser press and hair dryer. There was also a sachet of hot chocolate which is always a nice touch. The bathroom was modern and spotlessly clean. There was a powerful shower which was easy to use. There was a selection of high quality soap, shampoo and towels. I would highly recommend this hotel to dog owners. The staff went out of their way to be nice to our Border Terrier. They assigned us a room near a side door that made it easy to take the dog in and out. There was just one oddity and that is the bedroom door did not have a peephole. Overall this is an excellent hotel and I would definitely recommend it to anyone considering a stay in the area.

Stayed with my girlfriend for my birthday weekend great location for a place to stay in Glasgow. Rooms are really big with lots of room nice bed and clean showers room 34 request if you can get it was lovely nice young lad on the bar is very helpful if you need any help from him about anything chap on reception who checked us in Friday evening very helpful also - we payed for breakfast it is not a buffet waited on service fantastic in general worth the money you want be wasting your time.

I stayed here with work for two nights, having arrived really late, checking in was very friendly and efficient. The hotel itself is clean, modern and has a great lounge and restaurant area, although the bedroom which i was in was tiny. this is a great hotel with fantastic staff. All were very helpful and it was a really nice relaxed atmosphere in the hotel. had a conference to go to within the hotel. due to another member of our party being a little late we were out of time for a full meal but we got our starter then put in our order for the main course (lovely ribeye with blue cheese sauce) which was ready for us after the conference. AND they had Stella on draught. would stay again.

"Very helpful reception staff"

At the end of our stay we left a bag behind near the reception desk by accident. This contained some important personal items which we needed for the rest of our trip. The reception staff contacted us and arranged for the bag to be forwarded to us by courier (at our expense). "Surprise 50th Birthday Party"

My family arranged a surprise 50th birthday party for me last week. The hotel staff were fantastic. They were all in on the secret; the staff in the restaurant, the bar staff and the manager. They made my guests so welcome, kept them abreast of where I was (in the restaurant being oblivious!) and when I was finished my meal (not rushed) the restaurant staff casually lead me through to 50 guests all discretely sitting in one of the hotel's other bars having a great time. Food, service and hospitality was second to none! Some of my guests stayed and they praised the accommodation and breakfast.

A fantastic day for my daughters wedding - we had rain, hail, snow and sunshine all at the most fabulous wedding venue. The staff could not do enough for us, the rooms, meal and service were fantastic and everyone agreed it was a perfect day at a perfect venue. Was here for a friend's wedding and can honestly say that it was a blast. Very well organised for a wedding venue and the day went great. We stayed over as a bit of a haul for us in a taxi. Room was clean although quite small. Bed was comfy too and staff there are all very nice. Breakfast really let the place down though which was a shame. We had the full breakfast, was swimming in grease. Everything else was nice and we enjoyed the wedding.

Stopped at tgis hotel for 2 nights, the staff are very friendly and the place is beautiful. And the food was great. My one big issue was, I was woken at 5AM the first morning by the TV switching itself on, to say I was tired that day was an understatement. I ask the guy on the reception that evening if the TV's had an alarm on them. His response was no, there are no alarms in them as there is an alarm clock supplied in the room. He said that it was the first time it had ever happened. He said maybe Mayvis the ghost was responsible. The next morning gues what happened at 5AM. you guessed it, the TV switched it self on again. It was acceptable the first time, but not the next day too. I couldnt get to sleep as I was very annoyed so I left the TV on, I drifted back off to sleep sometime after 6AM. Then I was suddenly woken up very abruptly by a Fire alarm. Now I was really tired as now I had 2 hours sleep stolen away from me. Maybe this wouldn't be too much of a problem for some people, however I am in the recovery stage of having my pancreas removed after having a pancreatic tumour and fatigue an everyday thing without extra help from the hotel. Maybe if my request was taken seriously and somebody checked the tv, I would have given 5 stars.

Visited today for a friends wedding , the wedding was an intimate affair & the room for the ceremony , meal & night time reception was done up beautifully !! The staff were very welcoming & attentive from the arrival to simply ordering a drink especially a young girl called Sarah who served our champagne & canopies she was extra friendly and made sure we had plenty too eat ! She went out her way for us ! ( very refreshing theses days !)The wedding meal & night time buffet were delicious and plentiful ! As this was my first visit to this hotel it will make me Defo go back again and try the bar & grill ! Well done to all the staff you all worked hard & seamlessly too make everyone welcome & well taken care of ! Thank you ??

"Birthday Lunch"

Attended the bar & grill for a birthday lunch last Sunday. All in all was a fantastic day. The staff are an absolute credit to the place! It was packed at one point and although you could see the staff were extremely busy this didnt seem to phase them in the slightest & they were still mindful of each and every table so drink orders, food etc was kept flowing and no one was kept waiting for anything. The food was absolutely fantastic I thoroughly recommend the steak pie which I don't tend to take when eating out as I worry about the meat in the pie being tough or fatty but top marks to the chef as the steak was melt in the mouth and so enjoyable! Aswell as the staff being totally professional they are also happy to have a laugh and a joke with guests which certainly makes the dining experience more enjoyable! I can't wait for an excuse to come back!

Decided to take my wife out for a quiet meal here as a last moment decision and can only say I cannot regret that decision. Our meal was absolutely top notch and even though the staff were having disasters behind the scene our service was excellent too. I have only been in this hotel once before for a wedding reception but this was the first time in the Bar & Grill and I can tell you it won't be our last. I had Haggis, neeps & tatties with peppercorn sauce for starter and although I was kind of sceptical of this as a starter was very pleasantly surprised. I then had the lamb stroganoff for my main and again can't fault it at all. All in all a fantastic night with my darling wife with great food to boot. I'll give the Garfield ten out of ten for everything.

"Loud party until late"

We were really looking forward to this stay, everything looked really nice. The staff was friendly. Unfortunatly there was a party on the ground floor, keeping us awake. The staff was nice but unable to give us another room, or earplugs at least. The lady also told us that they are booked for parties often and usually the rooms right above the party room are given to guests belonging to the party. With us however, this was not the case. Rather disappointing and unprofessional.

Stayed over on a Saturday night and was very pleased with the room and the overall feel of the hotel, friendly staff and a very nice breakfast. Just be aware that if there is a function on it can be noisy on the first floor, but the music stopped at midnight so it wasn't too bad.

We booked this hotel based on the other reviews here on TripAdvisor and because for the first time we'd decided to travel to see our family with our dogs. Unlike lots of hotels that said they were pet friendly, but whacked a hefty surcharge on for "housekeeping", The Garfield House did not charge us for bringing our dogs. On top of that they were nothing but welcoming and friendly. The hotel is beautiful, the public areas, superbly clean and well kept, furnished comfortably. The restaurant, again the same, clean and welcoming. We had a family meal on our first night, as our family came to see us... the food was lovely, everything tasted great, and they offered an early bird too, which we couldn't take advantage of. However, the meal was great value. Perhaps a little small on the main courses, for the chaps, but overall really really good. However, breakfast was the full works, and a great selection from fresh fruit to a full cooked breakfast. As responsible dog owners, we took everything we needed to make sure the room was kept as nicely as possible, but no-one seemed to mind that they were even there. Wonderful two day experience will definitely return. Also, note for other dogs owners, the playing field opposite is great for early morning walk and last thing at night, with plenty of bins for cleaning up. The hotel is also great to get into Glasgow centre, and or easy access to Stirling and the Trossachs/Loch Lomond National Park about a 40 minute drive.

Fantastic night and all staff made the evening a great success. Food was delicious, service great and all organised with the help of Gillian and on the night with John. Would always now consider Garfield before anywhere else for family function or even for a nice evening out. Relatives who booked rooms for a few nights really enjoyed themselves and commented on how good and approachable all staff were during their visit. Really delighted to recommend this hotel.

I stayed at this hotel for the night of my friend's birthday party. Linda made an excellent choice of venue for her celebration. Nothing was too much trouble for staff who were uniformly courteous and friendly. My room was clean, quiet and comfortable; ordering breakfast in bed was a rare treat! I recommend this hotel (particularly if you have a dog) and would stay here again.

Stayed here for 2 nights in March for a short business trip. Rooms very nice and bed very comfortable. Hotel ideally located in a quite lovely area of Scotland. Dined in the restaurant and food was beautiful and staff very friendly. Only negative was the price of Guinness from a can, even barman voiced his concern at this.

We stopped here overnight to break up our journey and found it very convenient as it wasn't too far from the main roads. The welcome we received was very friendly and the reception staff made a nice fuss of our dog. The room was very clean and spacious with all the amenities you would expect to find in a hotel room. We thought that the chance to have room service breakfast for just £2 extra was great value. The only downside to our stay was that dogs were not allowed in the bar area sowe could not sit and have a drink with friends.

Needed somewhere for an overnight stop on the way further north. It wasn't easy finding somewhere that allowed dogs especially at no extra cost. There is a filed opposite the hotel suitable for exercising your best friend and the dogs are allowed in the hotel rooms. Rooms are not luxurious but are certainly very good value for money as is the breakfast. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was very tasty and plentiful. If there was a drawback it would be that dogs are not allowed in the bar or restaurant. The hotel does tackle this by offering breakfast in rooms for a £2 per room supplement. We thought this was a good price to prevent our spaniel getting anxious being left in the room on his own - he is a little precious.

Very happy with an overnight stay whilst attending a nearby conference and would happily use this hotel again. Despite proximity to Glasgow/Stirling motorway there was negligible traffic noise. The hotel is conveniently located for east side of Glasgow area and my experience was excellent overall.

We stayed here Saturday 12th March, we used our avios points so we basically got our stay for free! The hotel is very nice, the staff are professional and helpful. Whilst we were staying there was a wedding reception going on but in no way did this impact on our stay, we heard a bit of noise from our room (38) but not from the wedding, there seemed to be a lot of banging about noises but we were unsure where they were coming from, there was a storage/utility room next to ours so maybe there was someone there. The room was large and comfortable, the view was not great as it looked on to the flat top roof at the front of the hotel which impeded the view, as we were only there 1 night it was not an issue, we were happy with the room in general although we both agreed the mattress was a bit to hard for us both. Wifi available but quite slow. The cooked breakfast in the morning was done to perfection, the pot of tea we ordered was luke warm but we drank it quickly and just asked for another one when we were served breakfast. Ample parking available, we did not have an evening meal, the menu looked extensive and in line with hotel prices, there is a Brewers fare across the road which seemed really busy. We would stay again.

I stayed here for one night mid week. My room was clean and well appointed, the only negative was ensuring that you pulled the door fully closed when you went through it, a very minor thing. The bar areas were comfortable. It was well situated from the main roads around the area. I would happily return here the next time that I am in the area.

Attended a conference here. Staff very helpful throughout. Buffet lunch was very nice, well presented and good value for money. Wifi was a bit slow, but got there in the end. Plenty of parking, very well located and comfortable hotel. Board room had air con, which was a life saver as with all the people in the room it was roasting.

I chose to stay at hotel because a family event was being held there, I wasn't disappointed. Apart from event being very successful, we found the accommodation was perfect for our needs, our room was very comfortable, the beds were best I've slept in, and I have stayed in a lot of hotels. Staff appear to be trained to high standard, also very courteous. Food was excellent, both at family event, and breakfast. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

Stayed here after a function. The hotel itself is fine. Staff were generally good but we were not informed that a wedding fair was taking place in the hotel the morning after our stay. At 10am the next morning, a wedding band began rehearsing and it felt like they were in our room with us. Not on at that time in the morning. We were in room 6 so avoid that if you want a peaceful night's sleep!

Once I arrive I feel I can relax and rest, ready for the next day at work. I really love that I can get breakfast at 6.45 so I can get an early start for work. Many hotels don't start serving until 7.15 or 7,30 making the morning a rush to get going.

"Warm friendly"

Found this gem by accident having travelled to Glasgow without booking ahead. Arrived just as food should have stopped serving, but reception staff called ahead and we were served. (Recommend the sea bass) Every single member of staff was friendly and helpful. Not only pet friendly but welcomed! Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was freshly cooked and plenty of choice, served by a lovely retired gentleman. Booked for return visit for daughters graduation. Unless you desperately want to be in city centre would highly recommend a stay here. Didn't take long to travel in to centre. Thank you to staff!

This is my second visit here (as it close to my office). For a three star hotel it can't be faulted too much, shame it doesn't have gym and the wifi isn't amazing. Other than that its value for money. Booking.com messed up my booking but April on front desk quickly sorted (massive thanks to you!) and she found me an alternative room. Staff are very friendly and couldn't do more for me if they had tried. Food in the restaurant is decent, and the drinks are ok too. Beds are very comfy and the rooms are decorated dark and moody as I like them. I will be back next time I'm at HQ. Keep up the good work team and thanks again April!

A very late in the day booking after a bit of an emergency. Booked on the Best Western website and turned up 15 minutes later with all details on system and printed out for my arrival. Impressed. It was a twin room (29) (which was not ideal for me but all they had) and if you are travelling with a companion it was a good size. Despite being a single the bed was so comfortable. Bath over shower was very good. Coded free wifi took a little patience but was OK. Breakfast was great. Nice staff and plenty of piping hot good quality food. And the rate I paid was excellent. Loads of free parking too. The Garfield is a credit to Best Western.

Sitting in the Bar & Grill having a coffee. The ever friendly team are busy serving the restaurant clients. Efficiently, professionally, friendly, 3 key words to describe the staff, headed up by the charming Jose. My overnight stay, last Sunday, was delightful. ""Lovely Stay""

Stayed for three nights in this beautifully decorated, comfortable hotel, the bed's were so comfy with great pillows and best of all a dark bedroom, with gorgeous curtains, staff were very friendly and helped with directions, recommended taking the train into town (thanks Iain, on reception). Loved it and will be back and would definitely recommend.

We stayed here as we have two dogs and dogs are allowed. Just over the road is a great field for walking the dogs. The staff are friendly and helpful. Roms are clean and breakfast was nicely laid out.

This is a comfortable hotel, but stands out for the quality of the staff there. I never feel that staff are trained to make standard responses, but that they all enjoy what they do, and feel good if they've managed to make my stay as good as possible

The hotel is beautifully decorated, the rooms are delightful and the staff are genuinely friendly and professional. The receptionist (an older gentleman) and another young waiter were both superb at their jobs, I wish I could remember their names as they really were an asset to your establishment. Ideal Hotel for business near Glasgow. Good food cooked well. Really nice quiet rooms with a very comfortable bed. WifFi was a little slow but picked up a bit later. I can recommend this hotel and I will use it again.

"HOGMANY BALL"

It had been a number of years since my husband and I came to the ball, but we decided to go again, and if anything it was even better than last time, and that's saying something ! Meal was beautiful, John Kelly and his staff all very attentive, nothing was a problem. . We stayed overnight, and got up to a delicious breakfast . Would certainly go again, and would recommend it to anyone , no matter what age, as it was a very varied age group.on the night. Thanks again Garfield ! x

"Good for Business"

When you entered the dining room it was all tables for one... That said, the rooms were good; clean, well furnished and with fast internet. The food was first class. Staff were friendly and attentive. I would look to stop here again as it's location suits my office location but the price is often outside the budget.

was at my brothers wedding on Sunday 10th January and had a fantastic time. From the professionalism, helpful and friendly staff to the delicious meal we had. Not a thing went wrong under the eagle eye of friendly manager John who made sure all was well to even pouring out the wine himself! A great venue, we were in one room for the intimate meal and then moved to the function suite where there was the bar, a delicious buffet for the evening guests, a DJ and plenty of dancing. Thank you Garfield House, I know my brother and his new wife had a wonderful day.

I have attended many a Christmas party night over the years, but The Garfield out classed all the other venues, the staff were friendly and accommodating, the meal was fantastic and delivered to a high standard, without the school dinner approach like most other Christmas party nights. I thought that I would write to express my thanks to John and all his staff, both front of house and behind the scenes for what was a great occasion. I attended with my wife and friends and from the minute we arrived to a friendly welcome until we left the following morning everything was first class. Everyone worked so hard in an unobtrusive and pleasant way to add to the success of the night. A great way to bring the curtain down on 2015 mirrored by an excellent way to bring in the New Year. A special mention also to the breakfast team for working with a smile on their faces on New Years morning. We have brought in the New Year at a number of hotels throughout the West of Scotland and the Garfield is right up there at the top. The numbers in attendance was just right as we have experienced 'overcrowding' at other venues They expect to have us back there December 2016.

Another fantastic Hogmany ball at the Garfield Hotel. We have attended the New Year's Eve event for the last 10 years & it is always a great night. The staff are excellent, always friendly & very helpful. Three of our party including myself are coeliac and they could not do enough for us, providing gluten free canapés, dinner & breakfast. The entertainment was top class, great dj,singer & a song or two from manager John Kelly, a piper at midnight to bring in the New Year creates the perfect night. We look forward to our next Hogmany at the Garfield.

Had the most amazing night at the Hogmany Ball last night. The entertainment and food were second to none , John Henderson provided the singing and music as did manager, John Kelly who executed his role to perfection with a mix of fun and total professionalism , I was also asked to set off the balloons for the Big Bang at midnight , can't remember when my friend and I enjoyed a Hogmany like that. A big , big thank you and thumbs up to John Henderson, John Kelly and all the lovely and efficient staff at the Garfield. WELL DONE

Very nice hotel well located for Buchanan Business Park. Surprisingly no TV room or Sky which at the time seemed a little strange although each room has TV obviously. If you're looking for an alternative evening venue then your choices are The Buchanan Gate Brewers Fayre 250m to the left or the The Stewart Inn about a mile to the right.

Stayed here for a night with a conference next day and as usual the staff were fantastic, the room was great with plenty of room and a large comfy bed, free wifi and an excellent cooked Scottish breakfast cooked to order was a great start to the day.

I booked this hotel last minute when visiting Edinburgh and Glasgow for work. Pros - it was easy to find coming across the M8 from Edinburgh - lots of parking - executive double was very large - nicely furnished - big bathroom with shower and bath - big desk to work on - shortbread biscuits! Cons - wifi kept cutting off - although I put the heater on in my room it was quite chilly -the second plug on the socket near the desk didn't work (room 2) I would definitely stay here again when in Scotland

"Perfect Place for a "Do""

I stayed at the Garfield for one night (14/11/15) in order to attend an engagement party. The room was smallish but more than adequate for my purposes. It was also spotless and had heaps of fresh towels. The Hotel was perfectly suited for a gathering of around 100 people and the buffet was top quality - everybody had a great night! After a good nights sleep, breakfast rounded off a short but very pleasant stay. Food was obviously freshly cooked and everything (including the plate!) was piping hot. Check out was fairly pain free as total cost was under £50. Highly recommended!

"Simply the Best"

We have stayed here several times and found it faultless as usual. The room was lovely and spacious with all the amenities we required and a really comfy bed. The entire hotel is spotless and well maintained. We booked with Lisa in reservations and she couldn't have been more helpful, she allocated a lovely room for us. On arrival we met Iain at reception who was extremely welcoming and friendly. We always take our dog with us and it is never a problem, we always ask for a room near the fire exit and it is really easy to take the dog out and in for walks etc. We had breakfasts and evening meal, both very nice food, well presented and served by friendly staff. I would recommend this hotel 100% I am also saddened to read the review from Rob R about problems when he had no money to pay for what he had eaten, what did you expect Rob?? If you had no money then you should not have eaten/drank more than your allowance. Would you expect to go in to a shop and obtain goods without funds!! Your lack of ability to pay surely does not warrant a negative review

The hotel and facilities along with most of the staff was very good, food was also excellent. The only thing that let this hotel down badly was person on the reception desk, not that friendly and very efficacious. Let me explain a little more the situation. We stayed for two nights as we were working in the area. Unfortunately for me I had left my cards at home and had very little cash with me which I realised after the first night. My company was paying for the stay which included bed,breakfast and £20.00 evening meal allowance. Which I went over by the sum of £18.50. As is the norm with my company if you go over your allowance you pay the difference. Pretty standard for most companies. I explained to the man on reception that I had forgot my cards and could they invoice me the difference which I would pay when I got home on the Thursday. This is was were the problem begins. I was made to feel like I was robbing the place out of a small fortune and was expected to donate a major organ as collateral. In the end I had £17.00 in change and borrowed 50p from my work collage. To pay the outstanding bill for that night. Please remember that I still had my £20.00 allowance for the next day which could have been used to off set this. The hotel had my companies details and my home address and phone number. This was my first stay at a BW and if the reception here is anything to go by it will be my last. As a foot note, my colleague was checking out and upon seeing the very large queue for checkout decide to go outside and have a cigarette. Whilst he was outside this receptionist chased after him and challenged him regarding is outstanding bill. My colleague had to explain that he was waiting for the queue to die down and was not in fact absconding without settling up.

"50th Birthday party"

We had our sisters 50th birthday party in the hotel this afternoon and I cannot praise the staff at the hotel enough. From our initial meeting with John Kelly through to today everything was just perfect. We had 2 fantastic members of staff - Kathleen and Connor who couldn't have been more helpful. The venue was fantastic as was the food. A massive thank you for making our very special sisters day perfect. Can't recommend enough!

Customer service brilliant- best I have ever experienced due to friendly staff. Very helpful, any queries- sorted immediately! Bedroom- very good standard- only negative was early morning delivery at the back of the Hotel where I was staying. Conference facilities, excellent, staff would do anything to assist. "Party - 50th Wedding Anniversary"

We had booked a wedding anniversary party at another venue one year prior to the event and with six weeks to go it had to be cancelled due to very poor reviews and poor customer service when inquiring about these issues. This party was a surprise for my parents and we visited the Garfield Hotel to enquire about holding the party there. From the minute we arrived to meet Events Manager, John Kelly, we were immediately welcomed, made to feel nothing couldn't be accommodated and John spent time going through our thoughts and wishes for the party. To have a staff member who has the ability to put an anxious family at ease and to make us feel so welcome was wonderful. The staff and management both throughout our party and the following morning were friendly and welcoming and the whole experience was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Thank you to Events Manager, John Kelly, who really helped with keeping the surprise and welcoming my parents and all our guests throughout the evening and the following morning. It is very refreshing to find this level of customer service and this hotel is an excellent choice for a venue,great value, easy for parking, lovely food, excellent. We had family from all around the country and everyone had the same great experience. Thank you to all in the Garfield Hotel .

Everything you'd expect from a good hotel but also very welcoming, helpful, happy, professional staff too (I liked the fact that I saw someone run to answer the phone!). This was the latest of lots of stays here. Also, if you're into jogging/ running, head out right from the hotel onto the main road and there's a lake to run down to and round, 6.5k there and back.

We were looking for a quiet, friendly hotel and this fulfilled it brilliantly. The staff and management were welcoming, friendly and very professional. John the Assistant Manager was great, sharing the history of the hotel with us and even taking photos for us. The food was also top class. If ever we return to Scotland this hotel will be on the top of our list. Aussie travellers.

Comfortable friendly hotel with excellent breakfast but average internet speed and bar selection (one keg beer only, though I noticed a better selection in the other bar when I found it in the morning by the breakfast room). The room was small but well appointed and comfortable with good facilities, though the internet speed was rather slow and it took a couple of log ins before access gained. Superb breakfast of smoked haddock was a little slow to arrive but well worth waiting for, tasty and superbly cooked.

From my first step through the door to leaving staff were attentive, professional and helpful. I was in a twin room with 2 single beds. The room was large with plenty of space for desk and chair, and a further 2 comfortable chairs with coffee table in between. The bathroom and linen were spotless. I had a bad experience in a recent hotel stay in London so was wary of the bed. But it was super comfortable with a lovely warm duvet. Towels were fluffy and good size. I had dinner in restaurant - fish and chips which were great; then breakfast this morning was really good porridge followed by a cooked breakfast. The food is excellent. The lounge area is large and very comfortable with plenty of tables and power points for laptops. I love this hotel! Oh, many thanks to Bruno and remainder of team who served me in restaurant - many thanks to you all.

"The Garfield House Hotel"

Excellent hotel. Staff extremely helpful; food is always very good. Very near the M80 so is extremely handy for getting back on the motorway. Train station for train into Glasgow is about a 10 minute walk if you do not want to take the car. Dogs are always welcome too and staff are again extremely nice to the dog. This is now our preferred hotel in Glasgow.

"Wedding reception"

We had our wedding reception at the Garfield at the end of August. We couldn't have asked for a better venue. It was everything we had hoped for and more. The venue is beautiful complete with gardens which are a fantastic back drop for photographs. The food was fantastic with a large range of menus to choose from. Most importantly the staff provide a first class service. From our first enquiry to the day after the wedding John Kelly and the staff could not have been more helpful. We would gladly recommend the Garfield to anyone planning a special occasion.
