Best Western Space Age Lodge

The Space Age Lodge is a convenient location for you to stop by. The parking is great and the rooms are quite comfortable. It seems to be a simple place to rest your head for the night. Just mind you are by the highway and railroad tracks. It may or may not be a quiet night for you if you have issues with surrounding white noises.

When we saw this place existed, we had to stay here during our one-night stay in Gila Bend. We love kitschy motels, and this one fit the bill. The lobby is really into maintaining the space theme. (Don't forget to look up!) What you won't find are tired rooms clinging to kitsch. Our room was recently renovated with engineered wood floors, a super comfortable bed, cozy towels, and drapes that blocked out the light. The bathroom was fine, with the large sink area outside and behind a half wall. Everything was sparkling clean. A train runs behind the motel (no horn) which my husband did not hear. I am a light sleeper, so I heard the train's rumble. Occasionally, a loud truck would go by on the road in front of the motel, and I heard that, too. Husband, not once. Breakfast is included at the space and alien themed restaurant next door. You order off a menu with decent offerings. We also ate dinner there, and that was fine, too. All in all, this is a great place to stay and if we are ever in Gila Bend again, we would stay here without hesitation.

Clean, food great, interior design charming--this UFO Space age Lodge was charming! A surprise, but definitely would go back again for the experience. Full Breakfast with menu and choices. Bed very comfortable, and interior of room felt like a Jetson Cartoon--fun! Couldn't ask for a better experience. Highly recommend.

I have enjoyed staying at this hotel over the years as I travel back and forth between NM and California. The desert seems the perfect place for a Space Theme motel. I started staying there when it was a private motel. Now owned by Best Western. They have done a great job renivating it and still keeping that kitchy space theme.

I have stayed at the Best Western Space Age Lodge several times. During my most recent visit. December fifteenth I stayed in a room that I could feel grit underneath my feet. The floor had not been cleaned. Upon checking further around the edges of the room, the floors were not clean and there were Dead bugs and dirt. I was very distressed because the rooms have always been cleaned that I had stayed in Before. The hotel itself is rather pricey for a low budget or mid budget hotel. I do want to say that the staff as usual was very friendly. The breakfast is great. I am hoping that the next time I stay the rooms will be cleaner.

On the way home from Vegas it got dark on us and we decided to stay here. Room was clean and roomy. Refrigerator with a freezer worked good. Heater/air conditioner is a in wall unit and very noisy. We had to turn it off to sleep. Shower head needs replaced, water everywhere. The door to the room had been broken into. The door jam was all splintered. The continental breakfast at the restaurant was just okay. Oatmeal was good but served with a rotten banana. No table service after we were served. There was a chicken bone on the sidewalk outside the room. Little Italy across the street was okay for pizza. Probably wouldn't stay again.

I was in Gila Bend for two nights with 11 friends on a geocaching trip. We stayed at this hotel for two nights. There are not a lot of options in this town, but the hotel was fine, if showing its age. The space theme is well carried out, the rooms were very clean and sufficiently comfortable. The shower would change temperature whenever anyone in a nearby room flushed a toilet, and the sink faucet expelled water like an oddly shaped pressure washer, but that wasn't overly problematic. The air conditioning units are pretty loud, but that helps drown out the trains when they go by.

This hotel is a must-stop, as is the restaurant. Flooding last year all but decimated this small town, including this property, but owners and Best Western revitalized the rooms better than ever, and have worked so hard to bring a great hotel to this town. Knowing the history of flooding, we spent money on foot at little restaurants in the area, and at the Space Age Restaurant, and we will ALWAYS stay the night at this really fun and comfortable hotel.

Good price quality Microwave and coffee machine in the room. Safe environment. Super free breakfast in the restaurant. Fast internet. Good fridge In Gila Bend there is nothing to see. Good for one night as a stop.

The spaceage hotel and restaurant were a bright spot on our trip from Texas to California! We were exhausted after many hours of driving and needed to stop to sleep a few hours. We saw the spaceage hotel by Best Western online and were a little skeptical. But it was fabulous! It's totally retro and very fun. The free breakfast was delicious and the portions were generous! We even bought a coffee mug to remember our desert adventure. The family next to us were all wearing spaceage Martian sunglasses and taking family photos in front of the hotel.

Great staff.. quirky atmosphere with everything space.. even the plates and coffee cups in restaurant had a space theme... Reminiscent of old school Route 66 themed motels and motor Lodges... Breakfast was awesome.. not you run of the mill buffet like at most.. but a menu.. and waitstaff. Would have stayed longer if we could.

Everything was excellent. Clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff, cute theme. The restaurant was excellent and the included breakfast was AT the restaurant with several full-plate options to choose from. Absolutely would stay again!

Basic room with no microwave. Bed ok. Noises as best to road. Not given room I booked and staff not really interested. Breakfast cooked to order was good. Space she theme is tacky and it's just a roadside motel. Gila Bend is a small dusty desert town so not surprised

I did not have very high expectations but I was still very disappointed with my one night stay at this motel. I paid about $165 as a Best Western member which is not exactly cheap for a two star roadside motel in a small town. I think the "Space Age" gimmick which is really no more than a couple of photos and some Disney like space stuff allows them to charge a bit more than average. Space Age stuff aside it is very basic motel with a very ordinary restaurant. The rooms are just OK but I got the distinct impression that cleanliness is not one of their strong suits. See the pic below of the inside of the coffee maker.......yuck.. As others have said the motel is next to a train line so there is some noise but it's not too bad. The real noise issue comes from your neighbours as there is little if any sound insulation in the walls. I could clearly hear a conversation from next door on one side or listen to the news from the neighbours TV on the other side. My first and last stay at this establishment - even if there are slim pickings there must be something better in the area

I stayed one night here and really have no complaints. It is an older building, but it was clean and in a great location. As other reviews mention, the train does run behind the hotel, but I didn't find it to be a bother at all. (It's just the sound of the train on the tracks; not loud train whistles or anything.) The bathrooms need upgrading - the shower drain was very slow and the shower knobs took many turns in the incorrect direction to work. Nothing major. I would definitely stay here again and recommend for other travelers.

Such a fun hotel to stay at. Besides that the room was immaculate, water hot, breakfast at the on-site restaurant perfect! We enjoyed the space Age theme. The pool looked beautiful although it was too cold to use when we were there.

I drove through here once a few years ago and decided to stay for a few days to enjoy the sunshine. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the place was. Having the restaurant made life a bit easier. The room was a decent size and they were nice and quiet.

I've been wanting to stay at this SPACE hotel for years as I make a long commute from California to Texas twice a year. I think the hotel is newly renovated, as it has a nicer floor alternative to the traditional carpet which I don't trust. The room was very clean, however there was no vintage, spacey vibe - which I totally expected (and wanted!). Too bad, but the room wast clean, and after an 11 hour drive, this was greatly appreciated. FYI, there's a train that runs behind the hotel, but it didn't bother me, because I had a sound machine.

Just a fair motel. Could be so much more. Beds and pillows were worn and not very comfortable. The air unit is in the wall and blew over the bed and I woke up in the middle of the night with a sinus headache. The decor is dated. It could be a nice, kitschy place with some work. I expected more for $120. Probably wouldn't stay here again.

We were driving west and Gila Bend was an obvious place to stop. In checking the hotels the BW Space Age had good reviews online and definitely lived up to its reputation. Built in the 50s it was a renovated motel sith a space theme and it was great! Very clean and friendly and the breakfast at the restaurant was wonderful.

Room was clean, large enough for the 2 of us and our medium sized dog. Attached restaurant had a somewhat limited menu but the food was excellent for both dinner and the included breakfast. Only problem was being in the desert and there was no grass for our dog.to do her business. An excellent refurbished Route 66 style motel and we would definitely stay there again.

The service within the hotel and restaurant were very mediocre. The restaurant isn't very clean. Staff doing a whole of sitting giving off a feeling that they don't really want to be there. Not very observant of their guests. The floor in our room was dirty and the desk area had coffee all over. The pictures on the website are deceiving and not what we expected.

We have stayed here a few times while travelling from Canada to mexico. This is an older hotel but it is upgraded. Traffic noise can be loud and the unit that we were in had a loud a\\c but the room was functional and clean. Just what we expected.

Stayed only one night. The whole hotel has been updated and kept up in good condition. It is reminiscent of an old roadside motel from years past. It was super clean. Parking was easy. Rooms are small but comfortable. Dining option onsite was great! The "space age" decor was colorful and fun.

The room was very clean and comfortable. There is a train behind the hotel, but with the air-conditioning on you hardly hear it. The breakfast was excellent. You eat at the restaurant next door. Staff is very friendly. Will stay here again when we are in town.

Everyone was so polite and professional! Top notch customer service. The hotel has clearly been updated and the theme is so awesome. Even the pool is shaped like a space capsule. For a space or nasa buff - this place is a must. The one drawback - which was pretty hard to get over - was the bugs. We arrived to a couple of crickets in our room. Cool, we laughed it off. But it got worse. I know it's the desert. But yikes.

What a nice hotel well off the beaten path !!! The rooms are nice, clean, quiet and large. The staff are very nice and make you fell welcome.Try the restaurant next door. The food is really good. I will be staying here anytime I am near Gila Bend, AZ. and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice place to relax and recharge.

This is a nicely updated and clean motel with lots of fun “space age” touches. They were very accommodating for our dog and the cooked-to-order breakfast was tasty and offered large portions. The air conditioning was a bit loud, but worked well, which was great since it was well over 100 degrees when we checked in!

Me and partner stayed here for a night to rest before hitting the road. Okay hen we entered the room we checked around for cleanliness, and I immediately noticed the bathrooms tub was filthy! Our tub was filled with dust and hair. The sheets on our bed wasn't any better it was hair ALL over our sheets. The floor looked like it hadn't been swept in months. We explained our room wasn't as cleaned as we would like, and the man at the front desk was very unapologetically careless. He switched us rooms this room was a level up of clean from our last room. As soon as I walked in I noticed the rooms floor was disgusting filled with dead bugs, and trash under the bed. The rim around the tub looked it hasn't been cleaned. Our sheets were stained with rips. The A/C in the room is pretty loud but we could deal at that point. I say all that to say this place is not worth the $110 we spent to be surrounded by filth with no care from the staff. We picked this place because the best western we stayed at in New Mexico was amazing, but this one was not.

This hotel was perfect for what I needed. The room was clean and smelled good. The bed had very clan sheets and was comfortable. The restaurant was pretty good and with the hotel giving a complimentary voucher for breakfast it was a great value.

The Space Age Best Western was very cute and well-themed. Clean rooms, good wi-fi, and helpful staff. The full-breakfast choices in their lovely sit-down restaurant were impressive. Definitely stay here if you are going through Gila Bend!

This was just a fun place to stay! The space touches were really cool and very well done. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The AC was kind of "odd" but it did seem to keep the room cool. Breakfast was good, a nice idea to have it in the restaurant & be served. The front desk staff was pleasant & helpful! Would stay here again.

Great place to getaway nice new remodeled property. Excellent customer service. Neat place for alien enthusiasts, neat architecture, diving pool and jacuzzi. Clean and safe close to pond and canal if you enjoy fishing.

FREE fully cooked breakfast was excellent, used hot tub and was perfect temperature and relaxing bubbles. The restaurant/bar served beer, wine and liquor and had a great menu. One of the only hotels in the area, has everything you need.

Great place to stay has a retro space theme in rooms and in the restaurant. There is a full bar also so the fun atmosphere continues while dining. The pool was enjoyed by many guests. The breakfast in the morning is made to order and was very good. There is a great neon sign for photo ops. Just a fun little place.

... unless you like the sound of trucks and cars passing past your front window and trains running all night just behind you rear window. If you like a poorly prepared breakfast thrown in you might be happy with this coffee shop.

I was shocked when I discovered that Best Western had given their name to this renovated motel. I think that I will avoid Best Westerns in the future. My guess is that this was built as a motel in the 60s. While being able to back up to your door & unload & load your car was an advantage, everything else was not. We got the room that was the farthest away from the office & we had to walk about 100 yards to get anything. We had to go to the office & ask for ice & if there was an issue with your room you had to walk to the office. The room itself was great. It was modern & everything worked great. However, you could hear every single train (1 went by about every hour) on the tracks right behind the hotel & every single car on the highway out front. We got very little sleep. For breakfast we were give coupons for the attached restaurant next door where we had a choice of 4 meals. All were skimpy. I would not stay here again.

Fun space age theme throughout! Clean spacious room- and pet friendly! Loved that there was an attached restaurant that served complimentary hot breakfast to guests- full service- no waiting in line at a breakfast bar! Friendly staff here.

Super clean all around: lobby, grounds, and especially the room! Clean, crisp linens; comfortable, quality mattress. Shutters at the windows instead of blinds, curtains, or shades really made the room feel tidy. Reliable hot and cold water in the shower with good water pressure. Appreciated that the air/heat unit was not blowing directly on the sleeping area. Cool murals, decor, color scheme, and the glitter in the exterior paint keep the space theme going. Parking directly outside the room. Patrons pick up after their dogs, always a good sign of respect for the property. This place was booked solid when we stayed there. Will definitely stay here again when passing through Gila Bend!

Loved the theming of this property. And the restaurant is most excellent! We had dinner and breakfast. The dinner was super good. French Fries - oh YEAH!!! All our food was delicious and temperature appropriate. Cold food was cold, and the hot food was served HOT!!!

It is a typical Best Western all clean and brightness. The King size bed was comfy and the pillows too. They provide a complimentary full size breakfast at the Space Age restaurant next door. The motel is sandwiched between a busy highway and the railroad tracks. There are freight trains running directly behind the building. They blow the horns behind the motel. So earplugs! It is probably the nicest room you can find in Gila Bend.

Always fast checkin and out and pleasant service. Rooms clean. Air conditioner great during hot days. Pool and hot tub relaxing. Comfy beds. Restaurant right next door, which is where you get your complimentary breakfast.

After a big flood in August of 2021, the entire hotel has been refurbished. It was comfortable but we happened to get one of the two rooms not yet finished and so there were no blackout blinds or curtains on the window (only flimsy mini blinds that were worthless for cutting out light) and the room was SO bright all night long that it was hard to sleep. Also you should note that there are train tracks right behind the motel - the 2 am train came through town tooting it's horn. This is the best place to stay in town though - the other options are pretty poor. Staff was nice - just wish our room had the black out curtains - it would have helped a lot.

Totally renovated recently with nice flat screen TV's and new carpet and granite etc. The breakfast is in the restaurant next door and it was good. Fixed menu but you can order from the real menu too. Good food, good comfy bed; except for the trains that come by every two hours or so and BLOW their horn as they pass by.

Quaint throwback hotel. Drive up to your door, Pool, restaurant and cute. The staff was friendly and the pool was like new. Love the wood look floors for they help keep the room clean. I felt like it was a Route 66 hotel so the nostalgia set in.

For us, it was a place to crash for where we would be at the end of a day of traveling. Unfortunately, the hotel is between train tracks and a busy road. It was loud all night even with ear plugs. Also, the hot water took a long time coming for a morning shower. Things it has going for it are a comfortable bed and many channels on the TV.

Space Lodge in Gila Bend is nice and awesome. We loved the room, the pool and spa. Breakfast was awesome the whole experience was enjoyable. The service was great the front desk agents, maid and manager were amazing too.

We checked in at 5 pm and Lorraine did an outstanding job. Being Best Western Select, we received our free water. For guests at the hotel, the Hotel Dining Room offered a cold or hot takeout breakfast. We chose the hot breakfast. Lorraine explained the dining room opened at 7am. I got up at 6:45 am and called the dining room at 7:05 am. I explained I had a guest coupon but that I was afraid of the COVID. In very mean way, manager Magna at the restaurant stated I had to sit down in the restaurant and wait for them to serve me. I explained the COVID concern and Magna hung up. I called her back to see what we could do and she said she was late and it was my problem. I went to Burger King and bought my breakfast. I call Carmen, the hotel General Manager, and told her the story. She was half interested and pointed out that I selected Burger King, so it was my financial fault. No reimbursement for the Burger King expense. On the military rate, this hotel charges $107.99 plus tax in a small town in the middle of nowhere. We could have stayed much cheaper in Tucson. Best Western should dump this property and hopefully the current management will go out of business. I feel sorry for Lorraine who does an excellent job, but Carmen and Magna are worthless.

The inn was styled in the old-style motor court of long ago times where you drive up to your room. There are still inns like this today, but this one is fairly old, having been built in 1964 and having a quaint, old-style appearance with the both interior and exterior. According to the Best Western website, this inn is one of the first inns to have the Best Western name. As the name implies, the inn has a space theme, from the aliens outside and in the lobby and restaurant, to the murals in the lobby. The room was very small, but comfortable. The TV was equipped with DirectTV and had HBO. It appeared as if the room needed to be updated. The bathtub was stained and the lamps themselves looked as if they had been there since the motel opened. This motel had a strong budget look and feel to it, but not a budget price. I think they should charge at least $30 a night less than they do. As for breakfast, they offer only a take-out bag. If you want a filling breakfast, you'll need to sit down in their restaurant and order it.

Nice check-in manager, room is fine, bedding is nice and it was clean and in good condition. Air conditioner is very noisy and on/off constantly and makes for a rough night's sleep. Highway, parking lot or other guests not a noise issue at all. But, suggest management provide ear-plugs if all the a/c units are that loud (I have but could not find in the middle of the night.) That said, it's the only real option IMO to stay for miles around on that route cross country to get to I-8. The restaurant sorry to say is really awful, for breakfast anyway. I had figured to stay in Gila Bent but didn't realize how bleak the other choices were when looked on internet until I drove by. (Next time more research!) Was a bit pricey for a room in the middle of nowhere, but . . . was glad to score a room. It was full. Lots of construction workers.

My dad and I would always stop when we were passing through Gila Bend to eat in the 70s. Back then, the signage was a little different. I seem to remember there being a spaceship with little aliens on it when we would go. On my latest visit, I'm stoked to see that they have kept this little piece of hotel Americana history maintained. It's beautiful and worth the visit.

one room fits all, king or 2 queen. space theme is nice, but $130 ++ is way to high. we had lunch at the adjacent space restaurant and it was not good at all! go to the italian place across the street. meutermedia

There's not much in Gila Bend, Az. but I travel there for work a couple times a year and I always stay at the Best Western Space Age Lodge. The staff are always friendly and the rooms are clean. You always get a voucher for a free breakfast next store at the Space Age Restaurant.

There aren't a lot of motel choices in Gila Bend, but this is probably the best. Nothing fancy here, but the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was included and was quite good. We also had drinks in the bar before dinner which was fun.

We tried to order food for two adults and two Kids. We waited a loong time. After a while we tried to order at the desk but were told that they would come to our table. So we sat down and waited for a Long time again. Guests at two tables who arrived after us, were ordering and getting drinks, and still the waiter did not come to our table. We felt absolutely not welcome and we left the place. I don't understand why. Perhaps they had a problem of us being a gay couple.

Overall, our stay at Space Age Lodge was fine--the motel is slightly dated but for the most part it is clean and comfortable. The room itself was fine but the space painting on the lobby ceiling is covered with spiderwebs. The decor is fun and we loved the outside signs! While there is a train track right behind the motel, we didn't find the noise to be disturbing. Trucks on the highway in the early morning were louder than the trains. Would probably recommend others to stay just for the unique factor of the motel.

We read the reviews, so decided to stop when traveling through. We have a small dog and they do accommodate them...when we checked in I heard the train right behind and I found it hard to believe the other reviews that it was quiet...well, it was! It's also located on business 8, so there's the traffic going by. But the A/C unit provided the perfect amount of white noise and we didn't hear a thing. The room was super clean and comfortable. They have a restaurant on site with a bar and it's also clean. We had breakfast there, that was complementary with the room. They actually had a complimentary menu, plus a regular menu. It was just a nice stop after a long day of driving. It is kitchy...but that is just on the outside :)

If you're on the fence & not sure whether to stay here, rest assured it's a great place to stay! The staff is wonderful; breakfast was very good; bed is comfy; the design is an experience in itself & the value was just right! A quirky, perfect stay!

Old and dated motel with a quirky theme, but not worth it. Railroad runs behind the motel & there is a busy road in front of it - it was loud. Bathroom had a funky smell that wouldn't go away even with the window partially open. Shower didn't drain well at all so was standing in ankle-deep water almost the entire shower. Reception didn't tell us the town was shutting off the water at 10am so a toilet that should have been flushed couldn't be (gross!) - when I went into reception to see what was happening she said she tried to call our room but we didn't answer (because we were at breakfast), but she didn't try to call the cell number she had! Free breakfast at the adjacent restaurant was a joke - terrible food (hashbrowns might have been cooked in rancid oil?), service was horrific from one woman that was positively foul and the sweet other woman couldn't quite overcome the foul one's barking at everyone - it was a strange scene. Also strange was the surprisingly good 'gourmet pizza' at Little Italy across the street from the motel - not something we expected to find in a town like Gila Bend.

This is the 3rd time I have stayed at this facility. Rooms are clean, everyone, right down to housekeeping is friendly, there is a restaurant next door, have never had a problem there. I would surely recommend tiis facility to anyone.

A really neat old style motel dating back to the 70s. It is sandwiched between the road and the railway line so pretty busy and noisy, but the rooms are comfortable and have the basics and we had a good nights sleep. The front desk staff are friendly and efficient. The breakfast, included with your room, is really good and has a nice selection of hots dishes, with juice and coffee. We didn't have dinner in the hotel, but went across the road to Little Italy (Very good!) We had drinks in the bar before dinner, which was fun, and came with some good salsa & chips!

This was the only motel that had a room available. Was overpriced for the condition---old and dated, but clean. People working there were very nice. Guess there is a lot of US and UK military training in the area --- could be the reason for the stortage of rooms.

This is a nice hotel with a space theme. Neat clean rooms. Next to a rail line so there was some train noise but no train horns.i didn't hear the train with earplugs. Bed comfortable. Neat rooms. Breakfast served in restaurant next door. Would stay again.

Space Age Lodge lived up to its reviews on Trip Advisor. Clean & comfy rooms, quirky decor in the lobby and the plaster even had glitter! The pool was clean, grounds immaculate & the employees all helpful & friendly. If you stay at the Lodge, you receive a chit for breakfast at the Space Age Restaurant next door, and you have quite a few choices from the hearty breakfast menu. We even tried it for dinner & the food was respectable. There is a handy gift shop in the restaurant & we went home with spaceman sunglasses for the grandchildren. More centrally located to visit many of the National Parks & Monuments in the area & out of the Phoenix crowds.

This place has great decor. The rooms are basic but clean. Nice hot breakfast at the the diner next door. Parking right outside your room. The diners food is good and they offer a bar. This place isn't fancy but if you need a comfy, clean room for the night you won't be disappointed.

Older quirky outside newer updated interiors. Very nice staff and clean large rooms. Big refrigerator, cold ac, comfy beds. Staff very friendly. Only downside you have to go-to the office for ice and no microwaves in room. They do have one they can bring in your room for you though. Overall I enjoyed my stay. There is also wifi and cable. Also has a quirky restaurant and gift shop right next door.

The space age murals and the decor is real treat to the eyes. And the staff and the restaurant were a fun experience. From the desk clerk at the hotel to the waitress in the restaurant, everyone was pleasant and enthusiastic to make our visit a good one. I need to do some more research on the artist who did the murals throughout the place. Fun! Add this to your must see spots!

I decided to stop just shy of Phoenix and was super excited when I pulled up. This is a totally great road trip destination hotel. If you have kids/friends in your life who love UFOs and space you have to check this place out! It has a nice outdoor pool and a restaurant next door with the same theme for a very sufficient breakfast. It also had a great looking salad bar and a good menu if you are there for any other meals. The rooms are a little dated and it definitely has a 1960s/70s motel feel to it. But in my opinion that just added to the charm. For an old motel in a nowhere town the prices as well were higher than I expected. But for the novelty I would pay them again!

We arrived after a very long drive. The lady at the front desk was very helpful, directing us to some much needed cocktails, at a restaurant on the hotel premises and a fantastic pizza place, for dinner. The room was clean and the rest was peaceful.

Room was very clean and comfortable. A/C worked great which was really good since it was over 110 F outside. Restaurant food was excellent and large portions. Each staff person we encountered was always smiling and helpful. Would definitely stay again if we are in the area. Train didn't bother us cause the A/C ran almost constantly. Luckily the train didn't blow its horn during the night, just rumbled on through. Loved the space themed decor.

We had eaten here spproximately 10 years ago. At that time we had a great experience and decided that on this current trip we would stop again. To our delight the restaurant had kept its space age charm. Immaculate, great food, new booths fun space paintings a must see for all. The servers were pleasant and accommodating. We stayed for 2 nights on our way to and from Mexico. The room was clean and kept up. No complaints at all. We ate at the restaurant twice. Terrible customer service as it took a long time to get seated, waited on, and checked out - both times! Would not recommend.

This is probably one of the most fun receptions I have check in at . The rooms are pretty standard , but very clean and well maintained. The air conditioner was a little noisy, but in fairness is was trying to complete with very high temperatures.

Traveled through and needed a place that was dog friendly. Very clean and updated, nice staff and fun space decor. Unique and fun. Pool area was hopping with kids and sounded delightful. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the vibe. Skip the restaurant- sweet staff but sub par food.

I expected a regular motel in the middle of the desert, this was an oasis of pleasure to the eye and amenities. Definitly a do-over.The room was great and the decor was literally out of this world. The food was good and service better.

The Space Age Lodge is an original. It's well maintained with a friendly and helpful staff. Room was very comfortable and the layout and amenities are excellent. There is some train noise, but we didn't find it objectionable. Had worse at other places. (Oh, and ear plugs are available in the room.) They provide Direct TV with a complete line-up of channels to select from. The included breakfast at the next door restaurant is sit down and order from the menu. One of the best complimentary meals I've been offered anywhere. Worth the stop for the breakfast if nothing else.

Ordered food for myself and my family, here we go with the review. My daughter had the 11 dollar, beef sandwich, which consisted of two slices of white bread, covered in gravy, with 1 slice of packet beef, then microwaved, awful. I had a 12 dollar beef chimichanga, microwaved rubbish, rock hard. Wife had the cheese crisp, this consisted of a tortilla covered with cheese, microwaved, rock hard rubbish, 6.99. My son had the fried chicken “stuff” with mash, terrible. go here, spend half the money and go to a subway, I've eaten some rubbish on my travels but this is the worst, drive past please.

This was a unique 'out of this world' style motel. The staff were extremely helpful. The decor kept to the theme and the room was clean and quiet. The restaurant next door was efficient but nothing special. A very basic breakfast was included in the room price. Gila Bend is a cute little town worth a short stop.

Stopped here on our way to Organ Pipe National Monument then on to Green Valley. Good resting stop and quiet sleep! Love how it's decorated. Complimentary breakfast was just perfect and our waitress was spot on! Would stay here again!

Really enjoyed staying at this hotel while we visited Organ Pipe National Monument. We absolutely loved the quirky alien theming and thought the rooms were very nice. This motel sits right near train tracks and the train/horn is VERY loud. The shower was odd - it is very difficult to figure out how to turn it on and off. I don't know why hotels have to make such simple tasks so difficult, but hey, here we are. This is a motor court style motel, so you park outside your room - just make sure to not leave the door open at night with a light on while you're unloading or expect to find lots of little bugs in your room. Now the restaurant - yeahhhhh.... You're given a voucher for free breakfast at the restaurant for everyone in your party. The breakfast selection is very limited, but it's actually much better than any standard free hotel breakfast, as it's made to order and they use REAL eggs. We both had pancakes with sausage patties and they were delicious. The reviews for the restaurant are pretty scary - but for breakfast, it was actually really good. The presentation isn't good, but it tastes good, and that's what counts, right?! The staff seemed like they are phoning it in, but they live in/near Gila Bend - can you blame them?! I would NOT eat here for dinner. This town has much better restaurants (mexican food!) than the Space Age.

After a long day on the road, we need a close, convenient, dog-accepting hotel. this fit the bill. Nice and clean, easy checkin, and very easy for the dog. I bit pricey perhaps, but very welcome at the last minute. No complaints about anything at the hotel, though the restaurant was only average.

The motel has all you need. It is also pricey for where it is. Comfortable room with a nice bed and parking next to the door. There is a RR track nearby but it didn't seem to bother us. It's an old place but they seem to have kept it up nicely. The restaurant is the subject of another review. Needless to say there are better places to (try) to eat.

Staff was very helpful and friendly but cannot overcome this properties shortcomings. I have never seen weeds growing from the carpet. Yes weeds. The motel is 400 feet from the Union Pacific main line and the trains ran their horns at all hours of the nite and day. The street traffic is all of the trucks and cars going from Interstate 8 to Phoenix and is less than 100 feet from the property. Unless you are deaf you will not be able to sleep well.

Stayed here for 1 night with 6 friends. Most decent place in town - decent price. We stayed in the handicapped room - large with all amenities and walk in shower. Nice and clean. Only down side was the ugly carpet. Could be new but dark and worn looking. Our friends heard the trains right behind the hotel but we heard nothing. Good breakfast included in the attached restaurant.

Saw the flying saucer on the roof from a distance which really made us smile. We were met by Lorraine at the front desk who was very pleasant and friendly. Checked into our room to find it very clean and comfortable. Then went for dinner at the themed restaurant which we had the Green Burrito Special which was awesome! On the walk back to the room we again smiled at the signage, lighting, and sparkling walls. Had a good sleep in the quiet room. The included breakfast the next day was fantastic. We both really enjoyed the experience at this hotel and will be back when in this area. Great value and highly recommended !!!!

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was outer space themed and the walls even had glitter. It was so fun for our family and especially our little girls. The hotel was clean. Staff was friendly. And there was a complimentary breakfast at the Space Age Lodge on the hotel premise. The breakfast was a step up from traditional continental breakfasts. We had eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausage, french toast and great service. It was all included with our hotel stay. We'll definitely return.

If you're looking for something different, you might want to stay at the Space Age Lodge in Gila Bend, AZ. The rooms are Space-themed, and space aliens would find the office comforting. Check in was okay, and the room clean. Strangely, counters in the room were very low--as if they were designed the proverbial "little green men." This wasn't a problem, but the toilets are also very low, which might be awkward for those of the elderly persuasion. The attached diner had better than expected food, though not what one would call healthy fare and funny waitresses. Most of the time our room was quiet, but a main rail track runs nearby so it helps to be very tired when you arrive. That undoubtedly goes for everywhere in Gila Bend. The motel is dog friendly as long as he/she doesn't bark at visitors from outer space.

This was me third stay in the last 30 years and each time has been a joy! Great sci-fi theme, nice clean rooms, a great pool and attached restaurant. Other restaurants within walking distance. Nice, quiet stay!

I wasn't planning on staying in Gila Bend. But, my motorcycle developed a terminal electrical problem and died 1 mile outside of town. After spending nearly 2 hours on the side of the freeway, in the dark, wearing every stitch of warm clothing I had with me, and the Truckers moving 80mph and swerving over to within 3 feet of my bike, I might have gladly stayed at the Bates Motel! Fortunately, that was not the case. I have been here in the past and the place was a bit if a dump. Imagine my surprise when I found the small Lobby all bright and cheerful, the Desk personnel welcoming and friendly, the room renovated, clean, and well appointed, and most importantly: a clean comfortable bed! While the Space Theme has been a trademark of this hotel for decades, it has made a transition away from "Aliens" and has put an emphasis on historic Space Travel. There is art, murals, and information about NASA, APPOLO Space Missions, Challenger, and more. I think they might still be working on renovations, so it's possible that some rooms are better than others, but it is obvious that this Long-time Theme Hotel is coming back up in the world of Hospitality! Thank you, Best Western Space Age Hotel, for making my unpleasant circumstances easier to bear!

To start off, we do a lot of traveling around. We are not novices. My husband has several medical conditions that require some adjustments, but we have always been fine without bringing along anything more than we had on this trip. We are currently in Rm. 119 of this “stellar” establishment. There is a space theme in the hotel and “hotel restaurant “. The pictures and murals are very nice. The room was clean and we checked in after 7pm with no reservation in late November which is the busy season around here. Good sized room with two comfortable queen beds. Individual heat and air conditioning unit in the room is nice, but we got in freezing cold and the unit only adjusts up or down to a certain temperature. There is a table in the room but it tips over with the slightest pressure. Then there is the shower. The handles on the water and shower knobs get in the way of each other and it's impossible to get the water a consistent temperature. They also don't just turn on and off. They keep turning right, or left and sometimes water comes out and sometimes it doesn't. The shower is currently running lightly because I can't get it shut off. Once you do get water running and the shower on the water temperature varies greatly. Either scalding or freezing. After getting settled we got to experience the restaurant. It is kind of attached to the motel. As I said the space theme continues and is very pretty. The food is enough to keep you alive, but I opted to have a Diet Coke for breakfast instead of my free meal with the price of the room. Their “world famous” salad bar was dismal. Lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers and cheese. They had some pasta salads and fruit as well, but not much for a traditional salad. We both had the country fried steak. Good portions, but not very tasty. The mixed vegetables were canned and very bland. The next morning, I got my husband a large coffee to take back to the room. I asked for creamer and was told they were out and that I had creamer in the room. They put the coffee in a styrofoam cup with a lid used for sodas. I tried to put the coffee in the coffee cup provided in the room, but it did not have a lid of any kind. My husband has Parkinson's and needs a lid because of the tremors. I should have gotten him a straw to drink his coffee with. The hot coffee spilled all over him. All though the pictures are nice I will never have any interaction with this establishment again unless it's a law suit for medical bills.

Space age says it all. This motel was one of the original BW'S so its old. On a main through fare so there is lots of truck noise. Light sleepers need plugs. So so clean, bed was good. Unit has a fridge but no microwave. Gila Bend is not a big town so dont expect big box stores.

We know this place has been around quite a while and were surprised at how nice the room was. Clean, comfy bed, great shower. Only caution is that the shower in our room had a "hair trigger" when out came to temperature adjustment. Tall shower head and great water pressure more than made up for that, though.

This Best Western has a fun space age theme as the name suggests. The room was very clean and comfortable. We checked in late and we received great check-in service. The breakfast was in the restaurant next door and was delicious. I would stay here again.

I've always wanted to stay at this iconic hotel in the blink-and-you-miss-it town of Gila Bend. The lobby is stunning, the room was tastefully done in blues, very comfortable mattress, free breakfast at the restaurant. a fun stay. be sure to buy an inflatable alien at the front desk! we took his pic at the pool, sharing our breakfast, and tucked into bed - grandson loved it.

Joe and I were traveling to San Diego and decided to take a break. We stayed at this cute little place. Rooms were clean and quiet and the breakfast was free and delicious! We would definitely stay there again.

This was a last-minute change in the itinerary and a welcome surprise. This is the older style hotel with the single-story park in front of the room feature. The room itself was nothing special just your average room. all amenities were nice clean and up-to-date. The name of the hotel says it all, the owner has some kind of connection or love for the space atmosphere so all features have that going for it. From the UFO top of the Breezeway to the UFOs for the table covers around the pool. My wife really love this place and I surprised her with a couple of inflatable alien dolls that they sell at the front desk. Also included is a free breakfast next door to the restaurant connected with the hotel. Just your average breakfast and you get to pick between a few different items. We pick the egg bacon hash brown breakfast which is always a good choice and it was indeed great.

A good value Best Western motel, clean well furnished room, friendly helpful staff. Down side was train line immediately behind hotel and very noisy air conditioning. Would recommend to anyone wanting to visit Organ pipe Cactus NP

The space age lodge's decor is best described as 60's kitsch. This makeover motel is quite adequate and comfortable for it's age. The restaurant is adequate, serving lots of grilled and fried delicacies. Fresh fruits and veggies are difficult to find in diners, right? The one downside is the railroad tracks that run directly behind the rooms.

I stayed at the Best Western space age hotel on a cross country trip from San Diego to Austin Texas. I arrived late in the evening tired and sleepy. The hotel staff was efficient and cheerful when I checked and I appreciate the speed that they checked me in and helped me with getting settled in.

The renovated space age lodge is a real treat for the fans of americana. The lady at the front desk was so friendly and helpful and the room was comfortable and clean. One drawback is noise - trains pass close by twice and hour through the night, and the aircon is not the quietest. I always travel with earplugs, so this was not a problem for me. Breakfast at the attached diner was good, but was busy on the Sunday morning we visited. Beware that they need a credit card here, or a $100 deposit.

Just had a great two days at the Space Age Lodge. Without a doubt, our room was the cleanest and more comfortable room we have had at a motel in a long time. Congratulations to the house keeping team. Our room was spotless, the bed was really comfortable, the bathroom sparkling and the in room facilities were ideal. The ground staff were constantly cleaning the carpark and the gardens were very well manicured. I loved the space age theme, even down to the spangly exterior paint! Staff were lovely, check-in and out was quick and easy. The WiFi connection was very good and we even enjoyed our meal and breakfasts at the adjoining restaurant ( despite some of the other reviewers less than satisfactory experiences.) This isn't the cheapest motel in town but the quality of the room made it worthwhile. I agree with other reviewers that the there is some noise from the road and nearby train track but, to be honest, it did not disturb my night's sleep at all.

We recently stayed at Space Age Lodge for the second time in little over a year. It was still as clean as ever and definitely a treat for a space age freak like me. An absolute bonus is the free breakfast in the Space Age Restaurant. It's a real, made-to-order, generously-portioned, sit-down meal. Don't miss the weird space alien themed items in the restaurant's gift area. The sunglasses alone are worth a selfie or two.

From the pictures on TA we knew it was going to be a quirky space themed place to stay but it was great. Really clean rooms, friendly staff and great decor if you like space and NASA themed rooms. The breakfast in the cafe attached to the hotel was fine. We had a comic moment when we asked for some lattes and was told they had coffee! Great stay overall.

Hotel is ok, but the food at the café next door is way below par. We could not eat the taco salad we purchased for dinner and decided not to try breakfast. Wait staff did not seem concerned when we explained there was hardly any meat on the salad and what was there was not like any beef I had ever had before. It also looked more like nachos than a salad. Definitely will never eat there again.

location is great other than the proximity to the train tracks. The restaurant is the best place to eat in Gila Bend. The beds are comfortable an the bathroom clean but the there were hardware items that were not clean like the lamp bases.

We had a couple disturbing surprises when we checked into our room. There was a dried wad of chewing gum on one of the bedside tables, and there were hair trimmings from shaving in the soap dish. The room seemed clean otherwise, but it made me wonder what other corners might have been cut if they missed fairly obvious surface dirt like this. The room was kind of noisy, too, especially the road traffic and the train behind the hotel. We had the complimentary breakfast at the attached Space Age Restaurant. The breakfast options were limited, but it was satisfactory.

This theme related motel had quite different decor. It was clean and comfortable. The front desk check in was very good. It was more expensive than expected but there are few options in Gila Bend as it is a small town. The partnered restaurant was very hit and miss. The service and food were poor at dinner time but greatly improved for the included breakfast.

I loved this place. From the history, the friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, and comfy beds. Sure, rooms are smaller than average, but it was just me so it was okay. The bed was wonderful. Bath/shower was hot, and rooms were immaculate. The theme was well done but not too much either. Also, my mother was concerned about my safety. It was a nice comfort to see three locks on the door. Compared to tge experiences of colleagues who chose to stay at the Choice Inn, this place is the best you can get. I will definitely return.

Clean, nicely furnished, large room with friendly staff. Comfy bed. What more can you ask for when needing to spend a night on the road? The space theme is fun. You get a so-so breakfast in the restaurant in the morning. Even though it was a cold and windy night we used the outdoor hot tub - very nice. Yes, the train runs behind the place, but I never heard a train horn during the night.

This hotel is a tad expensive considering it is in Gila Bend. But, it is clean and bright, the rooms and bathrooms have all been updated. Staff was incredibly friendly. Trains run behind the hotel and can be noisy. Comp. breakfast in the adjoining restaurant which was average but OK.

As are all the motels in Gila Bend, they are are older and many have seen better decades. It's just this one, is better than the others. It's clean, the bathrooms and the beds have been updated. Nicely painted, no stains on the carpets and the staff are pleasant. There is a convenient restaurant adjoining the hotel (you walk outside) that provides good food and the service is at best, average. However, you will pay for all of this. The hotel is expensive. They wouldn't get away with these prices if they were anywhere near PHX. But this is Gila Bend....it's the middle of nowhere and the alternatives are cheaper, but WAY more tired than this place. They got you! If I had to stay in Gila Bend again, would I stay there? Sure. But I'll try to avoid it in my travel if I can.

Friendly front desk, easy check-in/out, typical diner food served by friendly staff. Room was very clean, looked recently updated, and bed was very comfortable. Housekeeping does a great job. Just what I needed after hiking all day. My only complaint was the railroad tracks close by (but since all the hotels in Gila Bend are, can't really avoid it). The rate was a little pricey for the area but it was worth the extra cost to stay in a clean, well-maintained, and fun-themed hotel.

We ended up in Gila Bend after opting out of the expensive options in Phoenix on our way to San Diego. We used our satellite navigation to highlight our accommodation options and were happy to find a Best Western in the middle of nowhere as is was getting dark and late. I am not sure what to make of the whole space theme but it was novel and well characterised through out the venue. Our room was clean comfortable and well appointed with complimentary toiletries, blow dryer, ironing board etc. We were also welcomed by a couple of local cats who I thought were rather cute. We knew we were on a major road and rail line but it didn't really interfere with our comfort. Lorraine in reception was pleasant and called once we were in our room to make sure we were comfortable. I did think it was slightly expensive in comparison to some of the inner city properties we have stayed in in the past few days @$119.99 plus taxes. It's an older style property with not a lot of additional facilities other than breakfast, but we had limited choice and stayed anyway. This motel is a good clean honest venue if you find yourself in this neck of the woods.

We've stayed here many times. We like to park right outside the room. The older updates to the rooms are starting to show some wear but it is clean and comfortable. The air conditioning unit kept our winter room warm. It runs constantly so no dealing with the on and off noise all night. Big screen tv, refrigerator, table, chairs. Sink outside shower area. Non working bathroom fan. They have the best free breakfast in a real restaurant with real eggs starting at 5am so you can get an early start on your next long day. Next to train tracks but the noise is muffled and has never been a bother to us.

Older motel that has been refurbished. By far, considering it's age, the cleanest motel we have ever stayed at. Great staff. There is a restaurant attached. Very clean. Limited menu, but very filling and great tasting food.

Great stop between Flagstaff and San Diego. Good food on location with complementary fresh cooked breakfast. Older vintage motel with recent remodeling. The best amenity is ALL the VERY hot water a family requires--a rare occurrence these days with motels lowering their water temperatures to luke-warm. We had a good night sleep on a firm mattress.

What a nice surprise! We wanted to stay here on a trip from California to Texas because I'm a "space freak", and Space Age Lodge didn't disappoint. It's fun, it's quirky, and it's CLEAN. I mean, REALLY clean. The gentle sounds of trains passing by on the tracks behind our room throughout the night were actually sort of atmospheric; and from our room, we didn't hear any traffic noise at all. Loved the sparkly paint everywhere and the photos of space exploration in the room. Great restaurant for dinner across the street (Little Italy) and a FANTASTC FREE breakfast at the Space Age Restaurant. The only complaint I would have is that the TV had limited channels and poor picture quality. But we'll stay here again. Recommended!

This hotel is a remodeled old motel from the 60's. The Space Age theme is kind of cute and the room was clean and comfortable, but the noise from the train passing right behind the building, in addition to traffic noise from the main thoroughfare street out front, was not conducive to a good night's rest. I thought it was a little expensive (even with a BW Rewards discount) for the quality and experience.

Beaut modernist motel for aspiring Jetsons in the desert. Rooms are spacious and the shower was good. The interiors were clean and would only be better if they matched the retro exterior. The pool didn't look too inviting though, but maybe it was the wrong time of year. Overall, a good stay

Good clean motel with interesting decor. Feel comfortable booking here. There's a cute cat that wanders around. You can hear the trains that go by but I like that. You can also hear trucks go by faintly but again, nothing bad. Enjoy.

I liked the decoration of the whole place and people working there but the room smelled weird and AC was so loud. THe breakfast was good at the restaurant. i wish they make more space craft goods instead of aliens.

This Best Western was a surprisingly quirky little motel compared to the usual stodgy monoliths. But after the adorable space ship sign out front and the mural on the front lobby ceiling, the room interior was all Best Western quality. Very clean, well-furnished, comfy bed, for an excellent price. Cheery staff, both late-night and morning. The included breakfast was at the adjoining restaurant. About five options—what you'd get at a normal continental breakfast: pancakes, eggs, oatmeal, etc and a beverage. So, different, and no seconds, which in my case is a good thing! A lovely quick overnight stay that I'd highly recommend if you're just pulling off the highway as we were.

My wife and I and our two dogs stayed here one night on our way to Tombstone. Gila Bend is a very small town with only 3 motels. We chose this one because it had excellent reviews (and rightly so). The room was very nice and the bed was quite comfortable. Our refrigerator stopped working and in one quick call to the lobby, another one was on its way. Their customer service was excellent. The room also came with a free breakfast. Our stay was a happy one. There attitude is very pet friendly, unfortunately there was no grassy area for pets. Other than that, it was a relaxing stay.

We spent the night at this hotel because it looked cool; then it turned out to have been remodeled with super comfy beds, pretty wallpaper, a powerful air conditioner that doesn't blow directly on the bed ( hallelujah), a BIG tv and it's clean as a whistle (at a very reasonable price). Good deal.

Family trip with 2 grandkids. Room were immaculate. Staff was helpful and friendly. Food mediocre. Nowhere could I find a margarita - asked multiple staff. NOT one margarita in Gila Bend? Really? Grand kids had a ball. Loved the space décor.

The Space Age Lodge is an extremely pleasant place to stay. It is very clean and the decorum is superb. The motel's staff is extraordinarily helpful, knowledgeable, courteous, and professional. The restaurant provides excellent food at very reasonable prices, and the free complete breakfasts are great!

Stayed here on business for 2 nights in Sep. It's in interesting place in a strange little town. It's sandwiched between the i8 business road and a train line. Really friendly service from Jennifer and her colleagues. The pool is a welcome relief from the heat and comes complete with dive bombing bees that are feasting on the nearby flowers. It's was weird to be frolicking in the pool while massive trucks rolled by a few feet away. There's a friendly cat that accepts left over pizza and a long freight train that rumbles past near midnight. The friendly train driver gives you a hoot to remind you it's there. The breakfast in the attached restaurant was most excellent. I'll be back.

My hotel room was very clean besides the bugs that would crawl under the door and were everywhere in my bathroom . The staff was nice and so was the breakfast . For work I would recommend the hotel but I'd also recommend check your bathroom ceiling and bed to make sure no bugs were in there

Excellent Service for the Hotel Staff. Useful information shared regarding membership status. The Hotel environment is located in an excellent location and the noise level is minimal. The hotel staff on duty offered a choice of rooms that would best accommodate my immediate needs and was helpful in her recommendations. The location of the room offered was in an excellent location and I had no problems with my parking needs during my stay. Will definitely recommend this hotel to other people and friends for future stays.

Great stop on long road trip. The 1960s space program theme is wonderful. Thankfully the owners keep that original theme. Built in the 1960s this motel has all the modern updates AND it is SPOTLESS. The staff is top notch and was very helpful check in and check out. The Space Age Cafe next door is fun and the food is good for a road side stop. I had chicken fried steak, it was great. I had to buy one of their T-shirts to commemorate our stay.We enjoyed an after dinner swim in 100+ degree weather. We will definitely stay here again.

Good situated for visiting Organ Pipe National Monument. It is some 1.5 hrs driving. Very good price/quality. The rooms are clean and there is a fridge and microwave available. Ice is available at the reception. There is a good restaurant on the premises and the free hot breakfast is also served there. Nice welcome for BW platinum members. Fast wifi and the place looks safe even in the evening. Parking is free and in front of the room.

For being an older motel, it was very nice. This was the second time we've stayed there. The room was a good size. We use wheelchairs to get around and there was no problem moving around the room. The complementary breakfast is a full breakfast served at the adjoining restaurant. I'm glad we stopped there and should we be in the area, we'll stay there again.

The motel rooms, beds etc are very good, as are the check in and room staff. However, the breakfast is abominable with a choice of one type of food, a choice between a juice OR a coffee. For a hotel of this standard it is appalling. Also, avoid the dinner - again very limited, badly cooked, a salad bar that looks as if it's been trampled or left out for and waitresses who could do with some personality training! I travel a lot and complain rarely so this is really not good.

first stayed at space age about 40 years ago ... always plan on stopping there when traveling thru the area ... been there with 3 husbands ... now just me and the dog ... but always great stop ... with fond memories of other times ... good vibrations!

Fun place to stop off on our road trip. The rooms were clean, staff friendly and helpful. Check in and check out we're easy. Breakfast (included in room package) was good. The space age theme and decor good fun

We needed a place to stay because of the hot and dry weather that Arizona loves to give us travelers. I called for an early check in and was accommodated easily by the staff. Checking out was easy as well. The staff here especially the front desk are sweet and well mannered. The breakfast is served by the restaurant attached to the hotel with the same space theme. Breakfast is made to order from a simple menu including a kids breakfast. (Free breakfast!) The space theme is pretty cool and made the hotel stand out. The room we had was a single king sized bed. The A/C was loud but hey as long as it kept us cool! The room was clean and the bed was comfy! We would definitely stay here again!

This motel has gotten even better the last 25 years due to remodeling. We like the ample counter space in the bathroom. The sink is small but adequate. The desk chair and two upholstered chairs are very comfortable for reading and computer work. On the desklamp are two outlets for device hookups. The air-conditioning is refreshing and easily adjustable. Children will enjoy the pool and the space alien theme in the restaurant. The staff is friendly and the room we had was clean and pleasant with a picture of earth taken from the moon and a picture of a space launch on the walls.

The murals alone make this a must stay place on a hot summer day. Beds and soft bedding were fine. AC kept the whole spacious room cool. Pool water didn't shock you when it was 114 degrees outside. Fast internet and helpful staff were appreciated. The breakfast is for real--many choices and huge!

The rooms are clean and nice. The pictures of the spaceships taking off were a nice touch. The employees were fantastic and helpful. Friendly and they went out of their way for us. It was too hot outside to get in the jacuzzi, hahaha!!! We enjoyed our stay. The food was really good.

A nice, convenient and comfortable hotel, albeit not the most modern motel, with modern amenities. However, it does provide a decent night's rest after driving thru the desert in Arizona. Very nice reception by staff, very helpful. Internet seems to work reasonably well. There are not a lot of choices here.

Excellent rooms and I really like the space-theme. We have spent the night hear often on our return from Wyoming or New Mexico. The town is hanging in there, but it's a challenge for the desert. It's good that it is part of the Best Western chain.

The hotel and Jacuzzi were clean, comfortable and refreshing. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I was fascinated by the great job of the space themed décor. The hearty breakfast was hot, fast, and delicious. The restaurant staff was friendly and helpful.

Stayed here for the weekend and was very pleased with the service and room where I stayed. Food is great and Magda really made it a great experience with the Mexican style breakfast. Props to the cook, manager and staff for really making it a great stay!!! Keep up the great work!

The hotel was very clean and the staff were very efficient. Loved the Space Shuttle decorations in the room and the restaurant. The food was great and very reasonably priced. Will definitely stay here again.

We spent one night here on our way home from Sedona. Very clean, excellent wi fi, staff all very accommodating. Very comfortable bed, all necessary amenities. Would stay here again if in area. Jennifer at check in very efficient & friendly.

Wonderful motel for such a small town! Clean, near, and aervice was excellent! The front desk called after we went into our room to see if everything was ok. Breakfast was great, not themusual fare. Would definitely stay there again!

I love that this hotel has kept the whimsy of the alien/space theme from the original owner. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We were on vacation for hiking and photography of the spring desert - which was beautiful this year. If we are out in this area again we would stay here again.

For an older motel, it was clean and inviting. Has a large pool with restaurant on site. In a small desert town on a good road on hwy 8 taking a short cut to hwy 10 we came upon this older motel. It is charming and we enjoyed our break from the road. T. Griffith

We selected this hotel the night before the Final 4 - about an hour from Phoenix. Their Space Age add caught our attention. The hotel is rather old, but a good place to stop if you are heading to Phoenix the next day. Not much going on around the hotel.

This Best Western is an unexpected treat in a very small town. We stayed there while passing through. It is a bit old but nice and clean. The room comes with breakfast at the diner next door. It was a nice change from the usual buffet style breakfast.

Great place to stay if your on your way to or from Organ Pipe. Gila Bend is not very big, hotel options not aplenty. Room was clean, beds comfortable and free breakfast was pretty good. A bit tired in places and a railroad runs right in back of it, but after the first couple, you don't notice. The space theme is kitschy but cute. You will find a stay here interesting. Not sure if I'd stay here a week, but compared to other locations in Gila, this would be my choice.

Stayed here for one night while driving around Arizona. The room was large and good and in good condition. The staff was helpful and friendly. The breakfast that is included with your stay was very good. There are a couple restaurants that are easy walking distance. I had a good stay at this hotel.

Sad looking building. ..surprised with room was very acceptable and very clean. For the price paid for the room could have been a better quality looking hotel, specially whe using the well known name of Best Western. However the hotel fulfilled the value received.

Staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The rooms were large and up-to-date, clean and comfortable. The outside of the motel rooms makes you want to check if the rooms are satisfactory, and they certainly are. The restaurant breakfast was off a menu and very good.

This is a classic motel from the 1950s, with a space-age theme from that era, remindful in a way of Tomorrowland. There is nothing fancy; it is a nice clean place with a good restaurant. It was nice to be able to park in front of the room. There is a good pool, essential in this hot region. I would heartily recommend it.

The room was very clean. i would stay here again in a heartbeat. It is an old classic motor lodge where you park in front of your room. we did not hear any outside noise. They have updated the rooms and furnishings. did not get to try the Breakfast. Very Friendly staff.

We stayed here on a long road trip after visiting Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument and on our way to Yuma. The exterior of the hotel is a retro 60s homage to the space era. The rooms are large with a large screen tv, refrigerator and microwave. Bathroom is large, very clean and decorated with the theme of the place. Breakfast was a choice of several items from the menu and were very good. I would recommend this place to anyone who asks. We were somewhat concerned about noise from the busy highway but it was not a bother.

The room was great and the bathroom actually one of the best on our whole trip (we stayed in about 8 different hotels). Lots of counter space. Cute decor for those who are nerdy about the space shuttle program or UFOs/little green men. Both interests are catered to haha! The food and service at the restaurant is very average, so don't expect the best meal of your life, but it fuels you up.

Space is a wasteland but there are still a couple of places to eat. Was seating quickly, place was clean, omelet was good, hash browse ok, coffee good. Waitress sort of drifted off after first cup. It was ok nothing more, nothing less.

We have stayed several times there in our way to San Diego. Rooms are very clean and comfortable and spacious. Mini fridge and a great tv. The restaurant is pretty good. I've traveled a lot and tend to use wipes to clean remotes and light switches and things like that all the time. In our room this last time we found the tv control in a special pouch that read it was clean and disinfected and ready for the new guests. I was impressed it looked like new. I have never seen that before. I even took a picture of it! Now they have a very good Italian restaurant across the street. It's amazing since the whole town is like one street and hot like the dickens. I would stay there again definitely.

I always stay at this hotel on my trips to AZ. The Space Age title is probably more like what Disney thought Space Age was like in the 1950's. However, if you like that funky approach, you will enjoy this hotel. The rooms are nice and clean. The lobby and exterior have this dated Space Age theme which is fun. Not much going on in Gila Bend, but if you are looking for a place to stay on your journey on Highway 8, you will enjoy this BW.

The Space Age Lodge was a pleasant surprise in the middle of Gila Bend...Hotel staff were are very friendly & helpful. Very clean rooms. Breakfast was made to order and really good. I would stay here again.

Its an Older Hotel but well kept. Its the best stay in the area about 1 mile from I-8 Gila Bend. A decent in hotel restaurant, and located in the center of the town. For the money its the best stay in the area

Hotel has BUG problems. Bugs in the room. Bugs on the dining table in the restraurant. Bathroom showers need upgrades. Front door did not close properly. No one asked how our stay was upon checkout. I had to ask for a military discount to get the price of $100 a night for a roach motel room. Rooms should be below $50 a night when the bugs have been exterminated, and rooms have been upgraded. Not worth the price of $100 a night.

Very cute little hotel! Has a pool and spa! Restaurant attached but didn't get to eat there! Had a storm go Thursday in the middle of the night! Lost power around midnight! They were working as hard as they could to accommodate guest! Very nice people!

This was my first leg of a cross-country move, and I wanted to ensure that I had a place to stay in Gila Bend when I got there, having no clue how busy it would or would not be. I booked my reservation on the road with no previous research, and based my decision solely on the familiarity of the Best Western name, and the $99 a night rate. Must be nice, huh? Nope. This place is a total dump for $99. $49-$59, maybe, but not $99. A/C didn't work, and the base of the bed cut my dog. I was on the road, so no time to complain, plus the woman working the desk didn't even look up from her magazine when she asked if everything was alright. Breakfast at the adjacent restaurant was OK though.

This was a great stop on our way from Texas to California. Absolutely the most convenient place we stayed - our parking place was directly in front of our room and made loading/unloading super easy. The space/mid-century theme of the lodge was so fun - from the sparkle paint to the flying saucer room numbers to the 'futuristic' lamps to the murals in the lobby! The pool was clean and refreshing, the bed was very comfortable, there were plenty of towels and it was pet friendly! We couldn't have asked for anything better. Also nice - the great Italian place across the street (see separate review). Train noise? Very muted - did not trouble us at all. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend staying here.

A nice Best Western and probably the nicest hotel around. Good breakfast at the diner next door. The rooms are a decent size for a hotel of this size and age (built in 1965/1966). The rooms are fairly modern but could use some updating.

From the outside this hotel is not much to look at, however the rooms are very nice and have a far amount of space! The staff was very friendly and attentive! The rooms were clean, cool and much needed after a hot day in Arizona. If you find yourself come through Gila Bend and need a place to stay, I would recommend this hotel.

This hotel is the best we hdd found in the area and we had a good night sleep. The beds are the best of the rooms.Very comfortable. Customer service very good. Rooms are spacious. But the hotel needs remodeling... inside and out of the rooms. We get a room in the middle of the parking lot facing the pool were the ceilings are higher from the others rooms and this makes a huge difference and the 2 beds rooms are also larger than the other ones. First we saw a room on the corner,,and it was very dark and with lower ceiling. Breakfast was good. Air conditioner was already on before we checked in the room and this was a pleasant surprise.

This hotel/motel is one of the best Best Westerns we have ever found. We stayed here a few years ago and found this place again this last summer. we love this gem in the desert. Love the restaurant also. thank you for a very pleasant stay.

Interesting themed hotel, but ageing. Pleasant helpful staff. The hotel is conveniently placed in the center of the small town of Gila Bend. The Space Age/Extra-terrestrial theme is fun. There is a railroad track fairly close behind the hotel, but the sound proofing is adequate. If must spend the night in Gila Bend, AZ, you've picked the right hotel with the Space Age Lodge.

We lucked into this gem in the desert on a road trip from Florida to California. Friendly staff. Rooms a little outdated but clean and comfortable. Best part was a full free breakfast in their restaurant. Great stay.

While far from our destination San Diego, it was really dark on the road we were traveling on and still had to go thru the long stretch and mountains, decided to stay here and get an early start HOME. very surprised at the outside thought very weird, but when we checked in and got a room the room was very up to date and clean and ;had all the amenities. The Nite Auditor was very nice and gave us a great price loved it. Bed was comfy fell asleep right away. Had a restaurant connected to it, we got 2 breakfast coupons for a free breakfast. My husband and I wanted to stay past Phoenix on our drive back to California. I looked on the map and picked Gila Bend. I had no idea how small it was until I went to pick a hotel and only saw 3 options. This one had the best reviews and looked quirky and funky! On our travels, we love to stay interesting places with stories, not just lists of "customer care" mantras. To us, we miss the days where tired travelers stopped in to interesting roadside motels and were part of a story. This place has that! It's a Best Western, so the rooms are supplied with the typical interior you would expect from a chain hotel (mini fridge, cable tv, big bathroom counter, comfortable chairs and bed), but if you open the binder located in the room, you can read about the interesting history of this place. Most of all - why is it a space theme?? :P All the little touches in the building and room are taken into consideration. Just for a night stay somewhere different and appreciate the special touches someone designed for you. It's something straight out of the 1950's/1960's. The woman that checked us in was so kind and welcoming. As part of your stay, you are given a voucher for breakfast at the Space Age Diner next door. You get options for a fresh made breakfast and hot coffee poured for you! No lame line to get stale cheese danishes and buzzers for your waffle maker that you had to make. It was fresh, delicious and provided a fun environment for breakfast discussions. What a nice stop in the middle of the desert. Make sure to read the story in the binder! Also, the Italian restaurant across the street is delicious and an easy walk over and back.

Expensive, small room, smaller flat screen, ice only in office, you have to wait for front desk person to check people in. AWFUL wifi, works ok, then times out. When trying to login I found out front desk person wrote login wrong, its all small letters, nothing is capitalized. Often ended up using my iPad and iPhone on cell because I couldn't get log in to work. Lots of traffic noise late. Poor insulation between rooms. They list about 40 TV channels, but several didn't work the week I was there. The Best Western name means nothing here.

This hotel is a little different when you walk into the lobby. Everything is like it is from the 60`s and 70`s space age. Check-in was easy and fast. The hotel was clean and well taken care of. The room was clean and comfortable. We though there was going to be noise from the train, but we did not hear it. The hotel has a restaurant next door that is open till 9pm. The hotel breakfast is next door. Check-out was easy. We would stay here again

I would venture to say this is the best place in Gila Bend, AZ to stay. However, I did not check the one other place. Serves the purpose and seems popular with people traveling across I8. Has a restaurant associated and pool.

This quirky 1960s motel is very likeable with birds singing in the palm trees in front and fun decor and exterior look. The include breakfast served in the restaurant makes a change from the usual Best Western buffet style and was tasty and efficiently and well served. I find the cost a little high compared to other hotels of a similar standard but there is not a lot of choice in Gila Bend. I would have given the hotel a rating of 4 but for the fact that I actually had real need of internet which sometimes worked, sometimes not and when it was it was very slow. It is a shame as I have staked here before a number of years ago and enjoy driving up to it and the great wall art.

Space Age Lodge brings back memories of the charming motels of the past, back before corporate branding removed a lot of the character from road side lodgings. The staff does an amazing job of maintenance and housekeeping on the property as the rooms are clean, comfortable and well appointed for the price point--I've stayed in higher starred rooms that didn't offer two chairs in the room or nearly as nice lighting. One down side is the slow wi-fi but our work around was to simply use our LTE. Breakfast service is good with a varied menu. Lunch and dinner at the restaurant is hit or miss on service. Menu selections are basic roadside diner fare and keeping in mind this is Gila Bend, you're not going to find a Michelin rated restaurant with chic on site chefs, so the food does what it is supposed to do: fill up an empty spot at a reasonable price.

The hotel was acceptable. From what we observed it was the best in town. The decor in the lobby and restaurant was unusual something we would never expect. Entertaining. The room was more than adequate. We had concerns about the trains passing behind the hotel but the lack of train whistling and turning the AC fan up killed the sound (The room amenities did include ear plugs). We got a good sleep. The breakfast was served in the attached restaurant with a limited menu but with an ample selection of "typical" hot breakfast plates.

Small, dirty,old, with bad plumbing and a toilet so small and low, I thought I was back in Cambodia. How this place is a best western, I have no clue. Keep driving, don't stay here. The pool was 'not available', but no discount given.

Very overpriced, actually crazy expensive for what you get, older everything, breakfast was OK but minimal, stayed at a lot of Best Westerns and very surprised that this made as part of that chain. Did I say overpriced, right, already covered that :)

Clean and comfortable very nice staff. Remodeled older strip type motel backs up to the rail road. Very much overpriced. Paid $143.00 plus tax for a king room. My opinion this is not a expected major chain motel. With all this said not many options available in Gila Bend

Best place to stay in the small town of Gila Bend. I've stayed here several times on long motorcycle rides. I've also stayed in some of the cheaper, budget places in town, but this one is worth the money. It is a typical, pleasant Best Western experience. The breakfast is actually a coupon for the restaurant next door and is quite nice.

There is not much of a choice in Gila Bend for hotels and this hotel takes advantage of that, with very expensive rates, considering it is an old and very dated motel. The wifi was virtually non-existent. The train noise would have bothered us except that the AC in the room was so loud, it blocked out the noise of the trains. On the only positive side, the breakfast was excellent - perfectly cooked eggs and good bacon. And excellent service in the restaurant. Eat in the restaurant but don't stay the night!

My wife suffered a fall. It was certainly not the hotel's fault. But the staff was forthcoming, efficient, gracious. All ended quite well, thanks to the staff . . . and to some good luck, I suppose. I recommend the Space Age.

Found this place online when searching and decided to give it a shot. We were pleasantly surprised. Décor was really cute with all the space stuff. Room was great for a couple of really tired folks. Bed was fantastic as were the pillows. Lady at the front desk said they were Serta. Food onsite spot was adequate as we didn't want to get in the car again. Will definitely stay there if we are ever passing through.

Would not have stayed here if I had know about the train noise and highway noise at night. Very old syle motel with outside doors to parking area. Antiquated air and heat system with unitl located on top back wall of the building. Have to walk across parking lot to office to get ice. No coffee available in the loby.

The space age hotel is certainly a bit unusual, but easily the best choice in town. The free breakfast provides a solid start to your day, while the comfy bed and A/C make for a relaxing evening. Happy to see the hot tub working again, but the permanently messed up wifi is a major disappointment.

Best Western Space Age Lodge is a really cool little hotel. It is definitely showing its age, however don't let this keep you away. The rooms have been updated, bedding is comfortable and it was clean. We came in late and left early so it was just an overnight stay. Breakfast was fully cooked unlike most

Don't judge the room based on the Kitsch as seen from the outside. The rooms are very clean. Beds comfortable. A/C worked really good. Plenty of hot water. Rooms 101 - 105 do not back up to the railroad track. Don't worry about the train, it does not blow its horn as it passes. Also, the complimentary breakfast is actually a choice of FREE breakfasts from the on-site restaurant. A VERY nice touch!!

Room okay, but bed was a bit hard - clean and quiet, asked if they had a microwave and they had the house keeper bring us a microwave. The staff was very friendly and accommodating too. Easy on and off I 10 - not many options in town for food - we ate at the hotel restaurant (you receive a chit for free breakfast at the in house restaurant too)

Cockroaches and they said they have had a problem with them for a while. I was very disappointed that they would not compensate us some way, instead we paid for unwanted visitors in our room. A regular bug spraying would be highly recommended.

Unusual themed hotel but not over the top. Staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble. But for me, the breakfast experience was worth a rating of six stars on it's own. A full cooked breakfast, cooked to order, and served on proper porcelain plates with real metal cutlery and proper mugs in a proper dining room. Top marks.

My wife and I stopped here on a two week trip from Florida to California. The check in staff was extremely courteous and helpful. Our room was immaculate! It was very large, clean with excellent furnishings and decorations. The bed was one of the most comfortable we have stayed in. We had a great nights sleep and a great stay. The next morning we receive a free full breakfast of our choice at the attached Space Age Restaurant. Over all we loved this hotel and will definitely stay here again when in the area.

When taking the Phoenix Bypass this is our motel of choice. The attached restaurant provides good comfort food for dinner. The full breakfast is well-prepared, although if one goes into the restaurant at a busy time, the wait can be long. There is a train track close by, but the motel provides ear plugs if this is a problem for you...we've never had a problem with train noise.

Hotel is outdated, esp. bath room is from a different century. Staff is very friendly. Rooms are clean and are standard ... we had two Queens and lots of space. WIFI took a while till it worked... we had to phone with the system admin :-((((

Room was very clean. Linens and towels unstained and I good repair. Bed and pillows comfortable. Didn't notice any train noise but we live close to tracks. Morning traffic noise was noticeable. Check-in and check-out were quick. Internet worked well. If I should ever find myself in Gila Bend again(doubtful) I would go back.

Hotel has a quirky theme with its focus on space. Nice rooms near railroad tracks, so lots of noise. Rooms were clean and odor free. Staff was polite and helpful. Great murals in the office and the restaurant. Restaurant food was good; service was slow. All things considered, this is by far the best hotel in Gila Bend.

This property has quite a history, which mirrors that of the restaurant next door. It is located with a highway on one side and a train track on the other - which could be problematic. However, earplugs were supplied in the room (!) and by running the fan all night we weren't bothered by the noise excessively.

Very shabby hotel in Gila Bend which has nothing much going for it. Very poor value for money with unclean bedding and a hopeless internet connection. Hotel is sandwiched between very busy and noisy highway and railway line!!

This still is the best place to stay if you have to stay overnight. It is old and iconic, but still clean and they keep it updated. There is a newer choice now, but I would still recommend The Best Western. The staff is helpful and friendly.

In general this hotel is below the normal Best Western standards in terms of services and décor. The one major issue was with the wireless internet service. It was painfully slow and repeatedly failed during use, rendering the service absolutely useless. Quite frustrating. The front desk promised they were working on an upgrade to the wireless system. There's also an issue with noise from trains. Fortunately, the a/c unit in room offers a continuous fan option which worked well to block out the train noise during the evening.

We couldn't find a place in Phoenix to stay because of the play offs so we drove to Gila Bend and stayed at the Space Age Lodge. It was WONDERFUL. The rooms were clean and it was nice and quite. We fell into that space age bed and slept like babies. Loved the décor and glittery walls. I would stay again. The staff was soo nice!!!

Hotel rates are somewhat high for Gila Bend, but this is likely best hotel in this area. Good place to stay for visiting Organ Pipe Cactus Natl Monument. Rooms were good, breakfast excellent. However, no markets in Gila Bend and had to go to front desk to ask for ice.

The hotel is doing some mayor face lifting and working hard to make this a place to stop before heading south of the border. The front desk staff went the extra mile to assist and ensure the lobby remodel did not cause too much of a problem during check in and check out. They are trying to put a good foot forward.

When they went with the space theme, they went all the way! There is glitter in the stucco so it glitters! If you are in the area and need a room, don't hesitate to stop. It includes breakfast at the adjoined restaurant and it's a standard diner style breakfast. It was decent, service was good.

The staff was very helpful and professional staff. The rooms were renovated with a space age flair. There were NASA pictures of space flight in the lobby and a very nice mural of space in the ceiling.. Good linens, furnishings and amenities. Nice pool. Restaurant very good and priced good there was the best Spaceship Mural in the Restaurant, and they had the best space design dishware too. Food was very good (breakfast was included). Our dinners were good too -

The room was quite spacious and clean, and the blue space theme was lovely. However the Internet here was just plain terrible. None of us could get a consistent connection, so we all used 4G for the duration of our stay. I wasn't the only one with issues, another woman was in the lobby asking about it when we checked in. The desk clerk "reset the wifi" both times but it didn't make any difference. I think when a hotel advertises free wifi, it should work! The free breakfast at the Space Age Restaurant left a lot to be desired. The heater fan on the roof made so much noise that I had to ask the manager to turn off the heat. The toast was soft and damp, my hash browns were burnt, and the coffee tasted like it was left over from the night before. Very disappointed with this restaurant, and they can't blame it on being busy, there was only one other person eating at 6 am.

Unique decor and clean with a comfortable bed. Had trouble with the Wi-Fi, but all in all, a nice stopover. A bit pricey for the area, but breakfast was good and service was friendly. The NASA memorabilia is interesting.

Not much to choose from in Gila Bend so we chose the Best Western. Nice facility. Room rate was pretty high. Morning breakfast was very good;however, we ate at the restaurant in the evening and were very disappointed. Food was OK, but the service was terrible. Took forever to get a waitress, then took forever to get our food. My wife never got her beverage and the waitress never came around to ask if we needed anything.

Great Place for an overnight. Comfortable room and tasty breakfast. Noise from trains in the back but did not bother my sleep (really tired). They do provide earplugs if noise bothers you. Internet failed a few times but the rainy weather seemed to be causing the problem. Staff rebooted but worked for only a short time.

I loved this place! Was just looking for a place to stay one night then continue the road trip. Tired and ready to stay anywhere, I spotted this single level, seemingly plain/generic motel. Well...you can't judge a book by its cover! When I took better notice, what initially looked plain was really not so; it was unique! The entire motel, outside, inside, and the adjoining restaurant were "Space-Age" themed ala 1950's Buck Rogers. The clerk was very nice, providing me with a very clean, well appointed, double bed room which was huge! There was an 8 foot long vanity counter with sink, the fridge was concealed behind a nice cabinet, and the heater/air conditioner was overhead with a digitally controlled thermostat; so unlike typical motel accomodations. I had my complimentary breakfeast at the adjoining Space Age restaurant. The service and the food were excellent; bacon, eggs, hashbrowns cooked perfectly! Their restaurant's heater even simulated a space ship lifting off! I would recommend this motel to a friend.

The Breakfast was the best I have had from a hotel and it was a very nice and clean hotel. I .probably wouldn't have choose this hotel by looking at it but it had great reviews and I understand why it was clean and the staff was great

We were visiting Organ Pipes National Monument and the Space Age Lodge added to our adventure. It appeared to be newly renovated in an amazing 60's style. The hotel and restaurant staff is friendly and helpful. It was a memorable hotel experience ...very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is included and is ordered off a menu ( rather than a buffet) and was delicious. We spent two nights here and enjoyed this unique area in Arizona.

Gila Bend Gila Bend is on hwy 85 on the way to Lukeville/Sonoyta to cross the border. We spent one night at this quirky motel on our way to Mexico. A great border crossing by the way. The theme is space related and rather a kick to see. A renovation is in progress, but our room was clean, comfortable and fine for a one night stay. Comfortable beds and linens.Breakfast is included and is served next door in their restaurant. A full menu is offered with large portions and delicious. The staff was pleasant and made us feel welcome. We were told that the only resturant that served wine and beer was the Italian one across the street. Check my review on it. We will definitely stay here again on our travels to and from Mexico.

We were so happy with our stay at the Best Western Space Age. Great Rooms-updated. Very comfortable bed, Great Breakfast and Fantastic Customer Service! They accommodated our group very well. We also loved the Italian Restaurant across the street for dinner.

After driving from Disneyland all day through 116 degree temps, this was truly a welcome oasis. Great front desk customer service, price was reasonable, very clean, trains didn't bother us but I understand how some folks could be. Only disappointment was the pool was closed for refurbishing. However, when I called two days prior, the desk person did tell me that.

The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is because of the front desk clerk. When we asked her the price she quoted is $130. We then tools her we could book it on TripAdvisor for $90, I even showed her on my app. Instead of booking us for that price I had to book through the app. She then thought it was funny that TripAdvisor only gave the hotel $76 dollars and made me pay the extra $14. I find it stupid that she could have made the hotel the entire $90 if she wasn't concerned with watching the TV

This hotel is clean, nicely furnished and the rooms are a good size. The staff were very friendly. We had dinner in the adjacent restaurant and that's also where the complimentary breakfast is served. The only issue is the noise from the air conditioner. Granted, temperatures were in the high 90's, but the cycling of the air conditioner through the night was very loud. And, to make matters worse, our room was beside the office and they must have had an industrial-strength cooling system in there because we could hear it cycling through the night as well. It vibrated the wall and you could feel it when sitting on the toilet. Not something you expect to feel first thing in the morning. If we ever make it back to Gila Bend we'd probably stay here again but we'd check the room first to make sure the noise level is tolerable.

I think this is a great spot to stop for the night. Some may find the space theme a little cheesy, but I think it is fairly well done. Wish we had more time to use the Hot Tub and swimming pool. The staff was very helpful and the restaurant was fairly good. I will definitely be staying here again.

1960s style motel. A little outdated but clean as a whistle with outstanding staff and adjoining restaurant. Stopped on a spur of the moment after a long days drive and was wonderfully surprised to find this Best Western motel. Very low price and free breakfast. Not cereal, fruit, juice, toast and coffee. This is a MEAL in a restaurant right next door. You can't go wrong stopping here for a good nights sleep. Just off of I-10 at the north end of town.

The staff is very professional & friendly. Rooms are newly redone & very clean. They give you a voucher for breakfast at the restaurant next door where everyone is great, too. Cute alien décor. I would choose to stay here again.

We drive through Gila Bend now and then. We always stay at the Space Age. It's about $100 a night -- which is not cheap for Gila Bend. But the rooms are spacious and clean. The motel is decorated in a space motif which is kind of corny but endearing at the same time. We stayed at a Day's Inn in San Antonio and had a terrible experience, but Best Western seems to have found the secret: clean rooms at a decent price. Seems like you can always count on a Best Western. The Space Age offers a full breakfast in the attached restaurant (not the typical continental breakfast). It has a swimming pool but when the temperatures are 110 degrees it's like jumping in a bathtub). The front desk folks are very nice. There's plenty of parking right in front of the rooms. The AC keeps things cool. If you have reason to go through Gila Bend the Space Age is a good place to stay. They take pets with additional $20 charge. Also, right across the highway is an Italian restaurant that's pretty good.

If you find yourself needing a place to stay in the middle of the desert, don't fret, the Space Age Best Western is cool! It was built in the 60's but has been renovated and well maintained while keeping its charm. The room was clean, AC cold, linens plush, and staff very friendly and helpful. Pool was clean. Pet friendly! And breakfast provided by restaurant next store. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

On our way to California we decided to stay at the Space Age Lodge. It's a really cool place, the pool was very clean and looked refreshing (didn't try out), room was very clean and loved the furnishings and there were lots pillows on the bed, which was very comfortable. The only thing we noticed was there were a lot of flies in the room when we got there...probably because no screen on bathroom window. We will be back next year!

what a great little hotel in the middle of the beautiful sonoran destert.. the staff are very courteous, the rooms, although dated, are clean and efficient.n the free breakfast served will satisfy the heartiest of appetites, and served by a cast of smiling waitresses... great stay and by coincidence the history channel was showing a documentary on space travel and aliens... hmmmmm... thanks the smiths
