Description

The Best Western Plus BierKulturHotel Schwanen is located in the pretty town of Ehingen on the Danube. A highlight of the hotel is the free Wi-Fi. All rooms are equipped with individually controllable air conditioning. Flat-screen satellite TV, Sky free to guest, a coffee machine and free beer care products round off the offer. You will receive a bottle of 0.5L mineral water daily free of charge in your room. Most rooms have a balcony. The special architecture easily combines the historical elements of the brewery with modern architecture. In the associated brewery guesthouse with distillery, you can enjoy the rich breakfast buffet and traditional Swabian dishes. In the summer months you can end the evening in the beer garden with home-brewed beer and distillates. The Best Western Plus BierKulturHotel Schwanen also offers beer brewing seminars where you can brew your own beer. You can also book massages and hikes at the reception, and we also offer bicycle and e-bike rental. The central location between Stuttgart, Munich, Lake Constance and close to Ulm makes a quick journey possible. The train station of Ehingen is only 350 meters away.

"Quiet and comfortable"
M8253FQjulieb, 30 Août 2019

The hotel is well situated and well appointed. The first hotel on our trip with tea and coffee making facilities in room a Nespresso which was appreciated. The staff were friendly and helpful and we had a place to securely lock bicycles. The room had a balcony that overlooked a quiet lane. Bed was comfortable and we had a good nights sleep.

"Nice Hotel with a Perfect Inside on Beer Culture"
Julieswiss2014, 05 Septembre 2018

Nice hotel, located in the middle of the old town. The interesting common factor of the hotel and restaurant located opposite is the Beer Culture. The hotel owner has a small beer brewery and in almost all the products used like shampoo, or in the food there is part beer included. The room is nice well appointed, on international standards with all the facilities including that of an espresso machine. The room is big and a good size bathroom. The opposite restaurant is a real gem. It serves local cuisine with beer as I have ordered from the set menu. They have to a beer menu with 40 different brews. Excellent service and friendly. The breakfast is served in the same restaurant and the spread is nice and well covered with specialities. In addition, as I was booked on a package with the use of an e-bike, I am really impressed by the quality of the bicycle and the attention of the pack bag with snacks. Overall a nice experience and recommended because in this part of Germany at the Donau they have so many miles of cycle routes. Great also for families.

"Unique rooms"
jessicapG1242PS, 13 Juillet 2018

Great Best Western value. Rooms were spotless, bathrooms are well appointed. I have only a single complaint, and that is that the foldout bed is only good if you are a child. Otherwise, the mattress is thin, and the bars underneath drove into my upper back. Made for an awful night of sleep. But the bed (according to family members) was quite comfortable. Lots of great bakeries, shops just steps away. Loved Ehingen!!

"Fun Concept with Local Atmosphere "
travelllily, 19 Juin 2018

The hotel is clean, interiors pretty new and of good quality, staff is very friendly. The beer style or beer concept is a little over done - almost absurd or ridiculous from time to time. We slept in a so called “beer suite” which was a well designed two storey room. Bathroom with a sliding glass door. Staff in the restaurant was extremely friendly and helpful. But, dear manager, please pay them for extra time in the evening. We were at your hotel probably during one of the busiest nights in Ehingen due to a company event with > 1,000 guests: we would have loved a beer (or even a standard check in) after 11 pm.

"Nice Design in Ehingen!"
954belindam, 08 Juin 2018

We stayed at this hotel for two nights March 27-29, 2018. Each room in this hotel seemed to have its own quirky, but highly functioning design. I had a king bed room with balcony and it was super compact, but I had everything I needed and I loved it. The staff was really helpful with everything I needed. The breakfast every morning was really good and there were many options to chose from. It was right in the middle of the little town which had several restaurants nearby. Very quant just lovely. I would totally stay there again! Great Job Best Western Ehingen, Germanhy

"Living "on the wall""
Ken M, 09 Mai 2018

My room was attached to the old city wall, and was on 2 floors. Entry onto the steel upper floor also held the bathroom and closet. Down the steel stairs, past the deeply recessed window in the old city wall, and you find the large, comfortable bed and desk and TV. Quite an unusual layout, but fun. Dead silent rooms, since you are encased in either concrete and steel or the 3-foot thick wall! Reception was OK, dinner outside in the courtyard was served from the excellent restaurant across the narrow street. I didn't have a chance to take the brewery tour, but it looked nice through the windows from the breakfast area in the restaurant. All through the hotel there were evidences of the brewery, from bier shampoo to various unusual bier themed foods on the menu, to souvenir bier-related bottled and jars full of nice edibles and potables. Certainly a place for beer fans!

"Funky place, out of the ordinary"
Les1000, 15 Septembre 2017

I might be unpopular with some readers for saying this, but in my mind, “Bier” and “Kultur” are a contradiction in terms. And yet, somehow this hotel almost pulls it off. Room design is rather funky, with the bed in the center of the room (most comfortable!), different nooks and crannies for storing personal items, and a couch/writing desk at the foot of the bed, facing the window. Service at reception was not terribly friendly, the restaurant was good, both in terms of quality of food and service.

"Disappointed "
Mvavbitt, 14 Mai 2017

This was our first over night stop on a 3 week European vacation - not what I was hoping to start with. This hotel - or at least the room we had - was NOT as advertised. Bare concrete walls, painted with some wood screwed on to it. Very small space - bathroom [w/c] and shower is separate areas. Staff was very curt and abrupt - not very helpful. Parking was nowhere near the property. We've never had this many issues or been this disappointed with a Best Western. Not a place I would feel good about recommending.

"Nice duplex rooms"
Gašper M, 21 Janvier 2017

Near the city center, German style, nice hotel, interesting rooms, duplex style, one option with bedroom and the other with bathroom in the second floor, room style in wood or in iron, both makes a nice ambient. Rooms as well as the other facilities are very clean, only reception is a bit small. Restaurant is right across the street. Reccomendable

"Cool suite in quaint Hotel"
David A, 16 Octobre 2016

This was my second stay at this hotel. My daughter and I were there for a fencing tournament in Laupheim. This hotel was located in the next town. We were upgraded to a Bier Suite with an awesome loft and fun lights. The hotel restaurant is over 300 years old and has excellent home made beer and food. Great for one or two nights. We would like to return and do the Bierkultur tours in the future.

"Hidden gem of a boutique hotel"
Tinskip, 10 Juillet 2016

We stayed overnight at this small, modern hotel situated in the heart of Ehingen. Best Western has bought into the BierKultur, a system of breweries in the city of Ehingen that provide amazing beers (and food and even skin care products) for a series of restaurants. Attached to the very modern hotel is a restaurant where one can dine and get a wonderful continental breakfast -the best we had during our 12-day stay all over Germany). Our room was a very modern 2-floor minisuite with a balcony, and it was a free upgrade from a slightly smaller room that I had booked online, they decided to give us a little bit more room for our daughter, it seems. Everything was new, modern and in excellent working condition. The garage was easily accessible and affordable. To be honest we felt that we didn't see what else the hotel could provide to make it into a 5-star rating, it was that nice.

"Brief but very pleasant stay"
marklaura2015, 30 Mai 2016

We really enjoyed the hotel and room that offered good space in a modern layout. The hotel specializes in beer culture and there various courses you can book. Check in/out is quick. There is outdoor free parking, and, there is parking in the hotel garage for 5 Euro per day. The are a lot of lovely small towns in the area and beautiful countryside. This is the perfect place if you are in this area. Booking online is easy.

"Simple but nice hotel"
Beat R, 23 Avril 2016

Simple but nice hotel in Ehingen "downtown". Friendly staff, clean rooms and recently renovated rooms. Breakfast is served in another building across the road, the breakfast buffet was absolutely ok for the price.

"One night stay got business meeting"
Drakesy, 09 Mars 2016

I would certainly recommend this hotel should you happen to be in the area. The rooms are well appointed and good value. I had a suite which was actually a duplex so the seating area downstairs was completely superset from the bedroom. The only issue was that the bathroom was downstairs with some rather tricky stairs to negotiate! The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly.

"Cycling the Danube Donauschingen to Vienna 900 Kilometeres Hotel Important!"
pat w, 28 Septembre 2015

From the outside it didn't look like a a traditional Best western and I was bit wary. However the room was amazing a bit like scandavian style all in wood really quirky and we were pleasantly surprised. very comfortable the best pillows in the world!! I have a neck problem and these were superb unlike all the other hotels which have pyramid stylepillows that go flat with no support in them think they maybe feather pillows and appears to be the German style of pillow.!!! Secure storage for Bike Right in the centre of this pretty town shops and restaurants nearby. I can't review the Hotel Adler because we never ate there however we were going to but the owners were quite unwelcoming. They appeared reluctant to seat us then we sat down and were given a german menu and asked the the waiter for the english one. He was so abrupt his tone of voice was offensive and told us to wait!! I stood up and said we are not staying here and walked out!

"Nice room, good food, but next time I'd avoid the stairs"
60750WorldTraveler, 26 Septembre 2015

We got the premier suite (top level) and in all the premier rooms they said you had to climb stairs to get to the bedroom but the only bathroom is down below on the first floor. Narrow stairs. Otherwise We found this very nice--could open door to deck and windows. It was too warm in bedroom upstairs until we turned off the air conditioner (thermostat is downstairs) and opened the windows. The warm air rises and the upper level got hot. And even the lower level never got as cool as we set the thermostat for. 9 euros each for an excellent breakfast with the usual cold buffet plus hot scrambled eggs and bacon, also Nutella and bread and jams. A waitress (at their restaurant across very narrow street) and especially the front desk representative spoke excellent English. The only phone in the room was upstairs and you had to read their book on the coffee table downstairs to learn how to call the front desk. A note by the phone with the front desk number (not 0) would be helpful. Free wifi. Coffee maker. Cute little town, nice to walk around. Hotel has good elevator. We also had dinner at their restaurant across the street, and it was excellent. Nice big bed, must have been king size.

"No qualms going here again"
Shelley N, 21 Septembre 2015

Stopped for 1 night, it was warn, clean, spacious and well appointed with very friendly staff and a lovely restaurant next door which had amazing food. I would definitely recommend it, as all Best Westerns I have stayed in, it was a good standard and you know what to expect.

"Comfortable small town hotel"
Suresh_Sekhar, 15 Août 2015

Stayed 28/7 to 31/7/2015, business trip Family owned property, who also owns a good restaurant, just opposite to the hotel & a brewery. Clean & comfortable room, divided into a lower & upper floor for sleeping. The only draw back I found for a 4 star rated property is that no food after 9.30pm, but there are restaurants nearby.

"Second stay: will definitely go back again"
Paul A, 26 Mai 2015

This was our second stay in Ehingen and the second time we've stayed at this modern hotel, owned and run by the family that own that 300+ year old brewpub over the road. There are plenty of nice touches around the hotel, with a strong beer/brewing theme (including very tasty "beer jam" at breakfast), and an on-demand minibar service (with very reasonable prices). The breakfast was great each day, with the space growing to accommodate additional guests on busy mornings (we were there four nights, with the Thursday being a bank holiday). The beer in Schwanen is excellent, and the ABC Brewery tour is highly recommended (the brewer - Micha - is also often seen around the hotel and is very friendly and fluent in English). The food served in the evenings is now more "gastro pub" than on our last visit but is well worth trying (we ate here on two of our four nights) as it gives a modern spin on some German/Schwabian classics. Ehingen is known as the "Bierkulturstadt" (Beer Culture City) as it boasts 4 breweries: not bad for a town of just 25k people! There are also excellent walking and cycling options in the area, including a "Bierwanderweg" around the town (and the neighbouring village of Berg, 2km to the south).
