Pitbauchlie House Hotel, Sure Hotel Collection by BW

This hotel is closer to 4 star than 3. Only downside is they say you can drink the tap water as no free bottled water and I don't like drinking tap water in hotels. The rooms could be a little bit more soundproof.

The hotel is located in Dunfermline, the ancient Scottish capital which is not too far from Edinburgh airport and deserves to be visited. It is located on the outskirts of Dunfermline but it has a private parking which is very convenient if you are coming by car. The room I stayed was comfortable.

Booked for 17 family members as it was my husband's 60th birthday. Food was excellent, staff were very good. Didn't feel rushed. Was a lovely family meal. All totally enjoyed it. Thank you.

Have stayed here before all great so booked again. Not happy ! rooms are clean, breakfast and service was lovely well cooked, attentive restaurant staff ,bathroom modern, good beds - comfy exept for one mattress tired and lumpy but serviceable, no issues again there . My main aggravation however is that i booked a MONTH in advance and the hotel knowing works may disturb guests who wanted to sleep during the day or perhaps work nights are not warned that works would be going on ( we spoke to others who said same ) when booking this should've been made clear lots of works would be going on during the stay , you then could book elsewhere if this would be a problem, total lack of communication from hotel and management from booking To arrival, we also found the staff at the desk to basically ignore any of this was going on When we got there and throughout the stay. Including not being asked the question you always get asked when you leave. "How was your stay" possibly due to embarrassment we felt avoided . We Arrived very tired and ready to get some sleep for our cruise the next day. Upon arrival we found there was no access due to driveway being dug up and resurfacing. No signage warning you not to enter in vehicles , just men shouting at people not to drive in. , no signage for guests on foot (like ourselves) of where to go, and with two cases in each hand and my mother ( who is 80) and unsteady on her feet we had to jump over the freshly laid tarmac base and negotiate the lumpy grass. Guests should be the priority and number one concern to management. Temporary and accessible footpath should be in place , which is why usually you surface one side of an access road at a time. To allow cars and foot traffic safe access , and the hotel should have made sure this was all planed and executed correctly with guests in mind before work began with the contractor,. being a hotel no less and dealing with the public, not here . heavy plant equipment moving all around you , no barriers signs or anything. Contractor and hotel Literally zero thought or care or heath and safety consideration for guests on how to go about what was being done Upon entering the room the noise and smell was constant all day so windows couldn't be opened, you could not rest wouldn't have mattered what room you had , in the evening when they knocked off we thought things would improve , but things didn't get better -work also going on in the surrounding rooms, hammering power chisels removing plaster. Following morning Woke at 8am by the noise and concrete dust blowing from a circular saw directly towards the an open window ( all caught on film) which is exactly what an aged parent with lung fibrosis needs. Why you would put guests in a room right next to the works both inside and outside im not sure. I Now Feel like this hotel does not value nor consider it's guests not even an apology , so regardless so can't recommend nor would be back .

Basic hotel that suited us for Knockhill circuit , handy to Dunfermline. It did all that it said but lacked that wee bit extra , this was reflected in staff and building. Failed to give the feeling that wee were the guest and they wanted to excel in all departments

Just back from this hotel and have to say we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, was treated well from checking in to checking out, rooms are lovely although a bit dated very clean and well maintained, the room aids do a lovely job, food is pretty good and drinks are decent measures, we had breakfast included and it's off a menu, but don't be put off oederexactly what you want and say how many we did, only disappointment was we thought tomatoes would of been tinned lol you help your self to toast and cereal if you want it all in all a lovely stay

The disabled toilet was certainly not designed by a wheelchair user! I use an electric wheelchair and can transfer from the chair to the toilet. However, there was very limited room to navigate to do this easily at the hotel. Everytime I moved, the hand dryer went off, I could not even lock the door so my daughter had to stand outside. The space inside and design of this "disabled" toilet did not offer the same dignity or respect as would a standard ladies/gents toilet would. Then to be told by reception staff that "a wheelchair user designed it", was obviously untrue! If they had done, this simple basic human need wouldn't have been as degrading as it was at this hotel.

This is another Best Western Hotel, we like to try different ones but Garfield in Cumbernauld is still tops but this hotel is also very good. On arrival the Hotel is set back from the main road but a big sign outside so easy to find. If I was to be extremely picky I would say driveway is a let down but that's me looking for a fault. The receptionist was very welcoming and friendly indeed and that's how it should be as they are the first person you see representing the company. The room was very spacious and comfortable and wee had a great view overlooking the garden. The food was good and as was the breakfast which had everything. Nice location and we would definitely go back again. Wee had an outside guest as an alarm clock (see picture)

This is a superb hotel. Well-maintained clean, quiet, nice staff. Nice stopover enroute to cruise terminal. Beautiful setting.

A group of golfers who were very well looked after

I stayed here a few times a couple of years ago and always remembered having a good stay. I decided to give it another try whilst passing through Dunfermline. The rooms were the same as I remembered. A bit tired but clean and tidy. I didn't eat in the restaurant as the menu was a bit disappointing. The worst part of my stay was during the night. People shouting and banging doors in the corridor until nearly midnight. I could also hear the tv in the next room until the early hours. Not good when you need a good night sleep and are on the road early morning. Unfortunately I think this will be my last visit.

We were among a coach party of friends staying here over the weekend of 15th to 18th May, and had a wonderful stay from start to finish. We were well looked after by the friendly, helpful and attentive staff team led by Thiago, who made everyone very welcome throughout our stay. The hotel itself is smart and well maintained, set within beautiful grounds with ample parking for both cars and coaches. Our room was comfortable, spacious and well equipped. The main bar and adjoining restaurant both enjoy attractive views overlooking the gardens, and there is also a sports bar with a smaller dining area overlooking the grounds. The function room is quite large, with its own bar and a dance floor. Breakfast each morning was well stocked, while the two evening meals we enjoyed at the hotel were delicious and well prepared. Overall, this was a thoroughly enjoyable stay, and we would happily return and recommend.

Excellent hotel. Very friendly and helpful all the staff. From reception. Managers owner and house keepers waiters all service with smile. Beautiful and very clean rooms. Very nice and cosy rooms. Breakfast and dinner is very good. Lots of variety's for breakfast. Ample parking. Beautiful garden at the back with beautiful plants and flowers and beautiful scenery. Very comfortable stay.

Good experience staff was very helpful and friendly rooms were well equipped and cozy overall we had good time

We went in group of almost 54 people of seniors citizens all menage with by hotel owner and they staff management the trip stared at 15th May to 18th May in short we all are happily done our trip also included Coach driver too they also look after us and food they serve us three meals a day and top of that refreshments provided including tea coffee and all neccsary we needs and you what the cost of all trip you guess. I think you can't reach to guess let me tell you it is cost of us £375.00 per person. Start to end .... Including take us Scotland tourist place sea views Edinburgh city, Indian restaurant for lunch plus top of all one live dinner and dance party one night so many things we do with them room was good bed good heating system was good staff was also good friendly honesty carefully supporting end of all we are all enjoying with they while we leaving them they come to say buy having best wishes too

It's a really good basic hotel. The breakfast was top value and the rooms really clean. Everything that I needed was there. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Parking on site and close to reception. There was a coach tour booked in, but it was handled well and despite being busy there was no affect on the speed of service offered to other guests. Great value and recommended for any business stays.

On business with my colleagues for Babcock and working in the dockyard, I booked through our system and decided to try this hotel and by the end we all agreed that this hotel was very good and pucker. I apoligise for not remembering names but an initial shout out to the manager (smartsuit, bold like my colleagues), chat and gossip with the receptionists (Billericay, say no more) and breakfast waitress, all need acknowledging for putting a smile on our down south faces and making us very welcome. Points to highlight: 1. The staff across the board were very attentive, helpful and accomidating. 2. Rooms: beds very comfortable, modern bathroom which was very clean. 3. Food: refined selection on the evening menu that allowed for quality dining, which was very tasty. Breakfast had a great selection, with either a continental or full Scottish (my colleagues had this and were very happy) or a selection of pastries and fruit, shout out to the waitress who was very patient with my colleagues demands. 4. I didn't use it but the garden was well maintained and the view was lovely. 5. Great location to the Dockyard, town and public transport. 6. Great selection of beers and spirits at the multiple bars. 7. Very reasonably price. We will be staying again in the future, most definitely, cheers team we'll done.

We booked a 5 night stay in this hotel for a long weekend. We had a deluxe room, breakfast not included. Room was beautiful, comfortable and clean with a lovely view of the back garden. The 4 poster bed was comfortable. However, considering that we stayed for 5 nights, we were disappointed that there was no deal for breakfast which was expensive so we didn't take it. The menu at the bistro was expensive too and the menu would have been boring had we eaten there every evening. The internet wasn't reliable and kept going off causing inconvenience.

Stayed here for 1 night after seeing a deal on my hotel break. We parked early and walked into town, about a 25 min walk. Check in was easy, reception staff were great. Room was large, a bit dark but very clean. Bathroom was modern and spotless. We had £25 each towards food and a glass of wine on arrival, which we could have with our meal. Food in the conservatory was lovely. Service was brill. Then had a couple of drinks in the bar - nice relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast was a continental buffet then pick a hot selection from the menu . I had the vegetarian breakfast and was so good. It's the staff who really make this hotel, everyone one of them so helpful and lovely. We will be back .

Some rooms may not be modern boutique style, but mine was spotlessly clean, comfortable and warm with a large walk in shower. The public areas were pleasant and comfortable. Beautiful garden with plenty of seating and far reaching views. The bars were well stocked with a good range of drinks. Food was excellent, especially the cooked to order breakfast (so rare these days). I was attending a wedding, which was managed by the staff with almost military precision. Plenty of staff on hand and extra care taken to ensure that my wife, who is coeliac, was able to eat safely. The strongest attribute of this hotel is its staff. Too many to name individually, but all extremely polite and helpful. From house keeping, bar staff, waiting staff, reception and management, nothing is too much trouble. Would certainly recommend and hopefully we'll be back.

I would like to thank Donald, Ann & all the staff for making our daughter's wedding a special day. They couldn't do enough for us and the room was just what was required. We use this hotel a lot for meals and you can't fault it, I highly recommend it.

My husband and I visited the hotel with a my hotel break voucher our daughter gave us for Xmas. Our voucher was for £100 and we got a fantastic offer of bed breakfast bottle of wine which was delivered promptly to our room. We were asked at check in what kind of wine we preferred. We were also given £25 each towards food. All of this for £132.00. Our room was lovely. Spotless clean lovely and warm and a king size very comfortable bed. Lovely tea and coffee tray. We booked a table in the bistro and the food was delicious. We went down for breakfast and the young staff were brilliant very very helpful. Brilliant selection of fruit juices every kind of breakfast cereals and fruit. Toast rolls I could go on and on. My husband had the full breakfast which looked delicious. I just went for a breakfast roll with sausage which was massive and delicious. It's so nice to have your breakfast cooked to order and not a buffet where the food is barely warm. What I would say is the hotel is not in the town centre. We got a bus into the town which was £5.60 and we got a taxi back which was £10. Not the hotels fault of course. The reception girls were all lovely as was all of the staff we came across. We are in our mid 60's and visited yesterday.

Lovely hotel real shame about the bar service or lack thereof

We live close by but hadn't visited since the new owners took over. We brought our 6 year old grandson who loved the garden to run about in and enjoyed the (very reasonably priced) children's menu. The food was very good and freshly prepared. There was a delay with our order which was acknowledged apologised for and we were offered a complimentary drink. It was a Saturday night and we were in no rush but appreciated the good customer service and we will certainly be back.

Great value stay this weekend. Fantastic value, clean, spacious and nice service. Only got one complaint - breakfast was a bit of a miss with quite a few items not available (no kippers, no croissants) - if this had been available it would have been a perfect stay. I asked staff to top up the continental buffet but a few items not avaliable. Again staff serving breakfast were lovely.

Went with 7 friends for lunch we all had meals from the small plates menu very tasty well presented and nice and hot Staff very good at their jobs the young lad who served us most of the time was an excellent waiter very accommodating and very pleasant would give him a 5* rating will be back

I attended the Hogmanay party and, unfortunately, it was a disappointment. The food was mediocre — the starter was tiny and lacked flavour, the main consisted of a small chicken breast with half a roast carrot and a single stem of sprouting broccoli, and the cheeseboard was so small it should really have been called a cracker board. No grapes, and only a teaspoon of something pretending to be chutney. Service felt disorganised from the start. Teenagers at the entrance simply pointed us toward the table, and the inexperience continued throughout the evening. Dinner service was slow and slightly chaotic. As for the music, it seemed like the DJ was only there for the money and had no presence or interest in getting the party started. Songs crashed into each other rather than being mixed, and the set leaned too heavily toward the younger few in the crowd. By the time the music finally suited the predominantly older audience, it was already late. Compared to other venues, this was a let‑down. I'll be heading back to places like Orocco Pier or Scotts in South Queensferry in future.

The starter was nice, there was confusion between the waiters if the main course I had put Infront of me contained an ingredient that I had requested to be removed when placing my order. Main course was under seasoned. Dessert was generic. DJ wasn't good. Found the atmosphere to be quite flat at times from certain song selections. Not a good New Year's Eve celebration.

Starter was fine ,main course needed magnifying glass to see it .A slither of carrot a very tiny sprig of broccili coudn't tell if it was meant to be hash brown or potatoe and chicken was miniscule. Cheese was 3 very small pieces with crackers.DJ.was very poor .very little interaction with customers.Had to wear coat round my legs as cold air blowing through vents.

My colleague and I stay here every month for work. We travel from Southern England and consider this a home from home. Every staff member is kind, considerate and polite. They remember little things that make working from home better. Their kindness means the world. The meals are delicious and our work team had our Xmas lunch here which was amazing! Thank you to all the staff for making our stay special. You are all stars.

Went here after the sad occasion of my Dads funeral. Liz, Kiran and Jayne were fantastic and looked after us all day. Very attentive, respectful and so helpful. They helped us to set out the personal items and photos and adjusted the catering for a speech to be done. The buffet was nice and there was lots left over. Just wanted to say a big thanks to the staff and the Pitbauchlie in helping with this sad family gathering

We held my husband's wake at the Pitbauchlie hotel. The staff were friendly, sympathetic and accommodating in the run up to the event. On the day they were able to adapt to the amount of people attending and did so calmly without any hassle. They treated us with kindness and respect and would like to thank all staff for going above and beyond

Fabulous! Easy check in. Room had everything I could need. I used room service and the steak pie came piping hot by a friendly member of staff. Wake up call was bang on time. Night porter ( 4.45am) took my case to the taxi. All in all, really good place!

We stayed here on the night before heading home to Canada. Large property with a nice garden area. No lift here. Check in was easy and staff was great. Room for 3 was a queen and single. Bar/dining staff very nice and food was good. The only thing I thought was about off with this hotel was our bathroom was carpeted.old building but never seen this before. Not sure if all rooms are like this but it would not stop me from staying here again.

I noticed in the description of the hotel that they call themselves a three star. I stayed in a three star in Greenock and this place was way better. I digress. We stayed here for a couple of nights at the end of our Scotland trip since it was not far from the Edinburgh Airport. There's also a train station with free parking for our day trip to Edinburgh the next day. The hotel has plenty of free parking and a couple of eating venues. We took advantage of the convenience for breakfast and a supper. Our room was on the ground floor. It was clean and spacious with a window for air flow. For breakfast you can choose between continental and cooked. It's not quite a full Scottish breakfast but they did have most of the components. My Sweety went for the continental and I had the cooked. For dinner there's a bistro behind the lounge sitting in a glass atrium with a view of the garden. We couldn't quite see the three Forth bridges because of the trees. They have a Monkey Puzzle Tree in the garden. My Sweety ordered the Vegetarian Curry and I went with the Chicken Tika Masala. Both dishes came with the curry, Basmati rice and a large piece of pita bread. The portions were substantial and delicious. In fact it was almost too much. Almost. Honestly, pita is fairly chewy compared to naan. If they ever switch to naan the curry would be absolutely perfect. Even roti bread would be a better curry accompaniment than pita. You can do roti with just a cast iron skillet. As usual the staff at the front desk and bistro were cheerful, helpful and delightful. I have not met anyone working in the Scottish tourism industry that was in any way grumpy or surly. The room itself had a ton of storage, a big bed and a bathroom that did not require superhuman dexterity to snag the bog roll. The shower and tub were easy to figure out without scalding in hot water. The hotel has event rooms and bars but we never really noticed any excessive overnight noise. The hotel itself is set back from the road which eliminates traffic noise. The railway station is only a few minutes away and has free parking. We decided to take the train to Edinburgh instead of driving there and trying to find parking. As a bonus we got to cross on the historic Forth Railway Bridge. I recommend that you stay at the Pitbauchlie House in Dunfermline. It's got all the services and amenities that you need and is a 20 minute drive from the Edinburgh airport.

Visited with 2 friends. There was around 15 minutes between person 1 and person 3 getting their main meal -only course ordered. No acknowledgement or apology. Appeared disorganised. Had to ask where the 3rd meal was. Would not return again

We visited for lunch today and we were blown away with service and food. The pate is the best I've ever had and my husbands bruschetta was delicious, very good portions. The steak pie and fish were also delicious and great portion wise. Drinks are very reasonable. We will definitely return. Please try here.

Very nice hotel featuring two bars, nice resta fitness room and hotel rooms have all amenities (hair dryer, iron, tea/coffee making facilities). The hotel also offers free car parking. The hotel is not modernised or has air conditioning in the rooms but is very clean and staff are friendly. I would definitely stay again.
