    « Nice hotel! »

An older hotel with different buildings but nicely remodeled. It doesn't have elevators. But a great stop for skiing and nice getaway for the views! Clean rooms, a balcony with chairs to see the views! Great hot tub and sauna although a shor cold walk. Well worth it! Great stay!

« Great Motel and People »

Our favorite place to stay in Summit County, Colorado. Have stayed here often and will in the futures as well. Have observed nice upgrades and good maintenance over a 15 year period. Plan you next trip here.

    « Loved our stay »

We stayed here on our way to Utah and it was a great retreat. Clean room, amazing location right next to the lake and the staff was very accommodating. We also had a balcony with seating. They do also offer ski lockers and complimentary breakfast. Great restaurant within walking distance.

    4
    « Good value. »

Good value near ski resorts. Acceptable breakfast. Good wifi. A number of amenities that we did not use. Convenient to shopping and restaurants. Arapahoe pub next door was a pleasant and unexpected surprise.

« Very nice, clean hotel. »

The Best Western surprised me. It didn't look great from the exterior, but the room was spacious, the beds were very comfortable, and the bathroom was renovated and nice. The complementary breakfast had eggs, bacon, waffles, and was an actual breakfast versus just a few cereals and muffins thrown out. I would definitely stay there again.

    5
    « Nice Hotel / Great Value »

Nicer than expected. Great value. Nice location on Dillon reservoir. Everything was clean, bed was firm, staff was friendly and breakfast was great. Easy access to interstate and nearby shops and restaurants.

    « Budget ski trip »

super deal, cute place, nice people, great central location, comfortable beds, nice ski locker, parking easy, stay in an upper room because I don't think the floors are very quiet, did not try the hot tub, breakfast was very busy

« Reasonably priced, quiet and great management! »

Stayed here for five nights during a recent ski trip. The place is not fancy but it is clean, quiet and has great management. We realized at about 8pm, that our refrigerator was not working. I put in a call to the front desk hoping that something could be done early in the morning. Within about 15 minutes a courteous maintenance man arrived to check it out. He agreed with our conclusion and in about 15 more minutes, we had a brand new refrigerator! The beds and pillows were comfortable and the room was fairly large for the price. We were on the second floor of our building and there were no elevators. This was not a problem for us, but might be a consideration for others. They have a good breakfast including eggs, sausage, waffles, etc. We will return next year!

« Great spot great hotel »

This hotel is right on Lake Dillon - beautiful in summer or winter. The rates are excellent for the quality of the hotel . It is not one of the newest hotels , but it is always superbly managed and clean. The hotel is actively managed by the owners and it shows !! Better than most of the BW plus hotels !

    5
    « Ski Keystone/Breck »

We have stayed here since 2008 and it is a great value. Can walk to several places for dinner. Meet new people in the hot tub and breakfast is excellent. Walks along the lake are great to loosen up before hitting the slopes.

« the hotel is very old »

hotel -(or at least the building we stay is very old , the room ans the hallway in the building looked very dated , looks like some rooms have windows below the ground , breakfast is ok , the location is decent , and it is very close to lake

    5
    « One of Summit County's best »

Been going here for years. Comfortable beds, clean, great staff, very good breakfast, beautiful location by Lake Dillon, lockers for your skis. It's great for summer and winter. Arapahoe Cafe, next door, is delicious.

« One night stay en route Denver to Steamboat (more than average but not q very good) »

I booked this as our flight from the UK meant it would be too difficult to drive to Steamboat, somehow I had forgotten that we still had to go through the Eisenhower tunnel! Luckily the weather wasn't too bad although we were still tired (on UK time) when we arrived. I chose this rather than the modern chain hotels closer to Silverthorne, and would probably do the same again if I wanted that location. We were in a block away from the reception, room was fine, albeit very hot so we had to keep the windows open all night. Some noise from other guests in the corridor. We didn't use the hot tub, but did eat in the hotel pub and had the free breakfast. The pub was very disappointing, would not recommend. Breakfast was good, for free! A varied menu, but not much space so everyone competing for seats! I know a lot of people stay here to ski locally, may consider for future trips; we tend to stay in resorts to ski in/ ski out such as Steamboat Springs or Snowmass as this trip.

    « Nice stay »

For booking last minute, this was a good find. Typical hotel room. The only thing I would like to point out is- you have to walk or drive to the continental breakfast, and walk outside to the hot tub. Of course during nice weather, this isn't a problem at all, it isn't that far. January, we definitely had to drive to breakfast. Hot tub is big, but they close at 9:30, which is a little early in my opinion. Other than that, we would book again.

    4
    « Pleasant and Clean »

This is an older property located across from the waterfront (reservoir) in Dillon, CO. It is an older property but clean and pleasant. The buildings are old wood frames and there are several of them with a handful of rooms in each one. Rooms 101-106 face the waterside (across quiet street)... the others do not. The floors creek in the rooms but all in all - we had a pleasant 2 night stay here.

    5
« Great location and good value. »

Although this motel is on the older side, the rooms were modern, clean and comfortable. The view of Lake Dillon is great. We were able to walk to the Dillon Ice Castle which saved us from parking problems. The price of the room was a great value for a ski town in winter. Very good restaurant next door. I would go back.

    4
« Nicely appointed for inexpensive accomodations »

The room has all the necessary modern amenities such as a hair dryer, safe, iron and board, flat panel television. The bedding was typical, nothing luxurious. During the season, the place is at full capacity with a fair amount of noise when the guests come in late after partying. Location cannot be beat in Dillon as it is right at the center of the town.

    4
    « Nice place »

The hotel was great. The only criticism is that the place is a little worn out. It is great for skiers looking for a nice place to stay near the slopes. It has a lockers for the skis, large hot tub and sauna. Breakfast was standard fare offered by most hotels. The lady at the front desk was pleasant and friendly.

    5
    « Absolutely Wonderful »

This was our first time skiing and we had the most wonderful time. This hotel was amazing. Right on Lake Dillon. The staff was very friendly. Our stay included breakfast! I've never had the breakfast like I did here, so thank you! Ski lockers are also included for those who need them. The hot tub was wonderful to use after a day of skiing. There was a sauna, but since it wasn't in use it was cold (and would take a while to warms up). The area was quiet and you are literally minutes from Loveland ski basin and Frisco, and seconds drive to Silverthorne (where they had coach, Nike, etc. outlets). I would definitely stay here again. We are wanting to bring our children next year. I have already recommended a friend who is currently booking a trip for February because she was so inspired by the fun we had on our trip.

    5
« Great Hotel in Dillon »

This hotel was a great place to stay while visiting the local ski areas. The hotel was quiet, the rooms were spacious with comfortable beds. This hotel also has ski lockers for your skis which is a nice extra. The cost of the room was very reasonable.

    « Vacations »

Dillon Colorado is most spectacular. Love staying at BW on Dillon lake, All seasons with beautiful scenery. Close to everything. Don't stay anywhere else! The hospitality is always top notch with making ur stay warm and welcoming! Thanks BW!

    5
« Great place to stay. »

Rooms and bathroom are good size. Even have use of a ski locker. Staff is super nice and helpful. Location is convenient. Beds are ok, breakfast offered lots of choices and is good! overall we had a great time and will stay again.

    4
« Nice hotel and fairly priced »

This hotel is a bit off of I-70 but it is worth finding. Friendly staff and clean room. And much quieter than being next to the highway. Even better there is an excellent restaurant next door, the Arapahoe Cafe.

    5
« Great value on Lake Dillon, near ski resorts »

We very much enjoyed our stay at this budget motel. The location is right on the lake and we enjoyed breakfast with stunning mountain views. The rooms were very nice and had been upgraded. Appreciated the mini fridge and desk, table and chairs even for a basic room. Breakfast was better than average for this class of hotel. Plenty of parking. Near several stores and restaurants. The only minor complaint is that our room was next to the exterior stairs and it was very loud. We'd stay here again.

    3
    « Convenient Location »

This hotel consists of 4 2-story builidngs. Rooms are clean, location is great. The only complaint I would have is the breakfast. It's kind of terrible, more than usual for this type of hotels. We end up buying breakfast elsewhere. I'd say it was a little overpriced, but we stayed during the Christmas weekend. We booked it with couple friends, and we end up staying in different buildings.Hanging out in the lobby wasn't convenient either since it was in another building altogether.

    4
« Very good and comfort stay! »

The room is sweet and comfort. The location has beautiful surroundings and convenient transports. I prefer to stay there for several weeks if possible :) I will stay there again if I visit Dillon again.

    4
    « Dillon BW »

This is a nice property with a fabulous view of Lake Dillon and upgraded rooms. Great shopping and dining, and the ski resorts are close by. Only problem...walls are RAZOR THIN. Even with the best ear plugs, I heard every car, every scraper, and every conversation from 6:30 am - 9:30 am.

    3
    « Not worth the $$$$ »

This hotel is WAY overpriced for what it is. It's a $200/night motel and not a nice motel. It's all around average. Would be a good deal if it were $100 or less. The rooms are standard, not super clean. Our smoke detector went off at 7am. The breakfast area was so crowded we finally just gave up and left. The heater was so loud it kept us up most of the night. Overall not a great experience. If you can get a deal it's not a bad place to stay but I would not stay here for the high prices at the time.

    5
    « great experience »

great location, close to Lake Dillon, about another exit to Frisco and 15 minutes drive to Breckenridge plus a few minutes to Keystone and Silverthorne. older facility but they keep it clean, plenty of space room and very clean bathroom. good complimentary breakfast. close to restaurants and grocery store.

    5
    « Good hotel »

This is a good place to spend a night. Check in and check out were good and the hotel rooms were good sized. The buildings are older but they have been remodeled. The breakfast is above average for this type of hotel. Plenty of extras for breakfast like chocolate chips and whip cream for your waffles.

    « A Gem in the Rockies »

Overall, an awesome hotel. Location, staff, hotel cleanliness, amenities, scenery, nearby attractions, all perfectly on point. Multiple world-class ski resorts close to the hotel. Located right next to beautiful Lake Dillon. Close to Keystone, Frisco, & Breckenridge. Love this place and can't wait to be back after the New Year!

    4
« Location great, otherwise outdated »

ask for a room overlooking the lake, restaurant right next door is very good. Great walking area for humans and pets. 10 minute drive to pot store just across the dam. Value is good but property needs major renovations throughout

    5
    « Great service. »

Another stablishment mess up my reservation and were not helpfull so I book at BW at the last minute. They were very friendly and helfull. I will definetly stay here again. I am pleased with the service, location and price.

    5
« Convenient to Summit Co. Skiing »

My son and I stayed at this hotel recently and had a great time. The room was clean, breakfast was very good, the beds were comfortable, and the staff was great. It's also a close drive to many skiing

    3
« Great location, average hotel »

Spent 1 night here with our 2 dogs. We loved being in such close proximity to the lake path to walk our dogs. We were also able to walk into town to pick up pizza at Lake Dillon Tavern and bring it back to our room. Unfortunately, our room was cramped and noisy, even though we were in the end unit of a single story building. We could hear our neighbors until late into the night. Breakfast isn't served until 7am and we were on the road before that. The location was great, but the hotel itself left a lot to be desired.

    5
    « Beautiful location »

Only about half a mile off the main highway. Right on the bike path and centrally located to ski areas. Next to Lake Dillon; the views are amazing.Great beer and food at Pug Ryan's restaurant ~ 100 yards away. This is my favorite hotel ever.

    5
« Perfect! One you'd want write home about... »

Staying here was a pleasant experience wirh very clean, comfortable rooms! The parking was right outside the rooms or building and was perfect for a night or two. We feel that the whole experience of checking in and staying here was one of the better choices we have made in lodging. Well done to the staff and thanks for a super clean room and comfortable bed!!! Everything was right about this place.

    4
« BW stay in Dillon »

Older motel style accommodations with exterior entrance to rooms but nicely updated and comfortable rooms and lobby; good breakfast selection and quality; beautiful views; convenient location of 70; good service

    4
« Very pleasant hotel with great views and wonderful staff »

Stopped here on the way to Fort Collins and was very happy. The room was large, wifi excellent, and the breakfast quite good. The views of Lake Dillon and the ski slopes of Keystone and Breckinridge beautiful. The Inn is just off I-70 but far enough away and up on the hill so as not to hear any traffic. Definitely worth the stop and off-season a very economical respite.

    5
    « Sweet retreat »

From the beautiful views of the mountains, to the staff that wants to ensure your stay is worry free, this hotel offers you a sweet retreat from the hustle and bustle of life. We spent 7 nights there, and will return next year for 10 nights.

« Great Place to Stay »

We stayed here for a night to get away from Denver. The hotel was clean, the staff was extremely nice and friendly and the breakfast was great! It had amazing views of the lake and great walk-ability to Dillon. We would definitely stay here again.

    5
« Good welcoming hotel - winter or summer. »

Convenient to the major ski resorts like Keystone, A-Basin, Breck and Vail at a very reasonable price. Staff are always helpful. Goof for families, singles, couples and pets are welcomed. Great for scenery and Lake Dillon activities in the summer. Home from home.

    5
« A hotel with a GREAT mountain lake view! »

I loved this location. It was right in front of a walking path in front of the lake with the BEST view of the water and mountains. It was beautifully wooded out...just perfect! The room was very nice, clean, and cozy, especially when it was 28 degrees outside in October. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling near the area. It was amazing!

    5
    « Snowboarding at Keystone »

The Best Western was better than I thought it was going to be. Perfect example of you can judge a book by its cover. The room was clean, the bathroom was clean and big. I loved it and will definitely stay again!!

    5
    « Very Pelaxing »

My wife , I and our dogs love going to this location. Great views, super quiet , well priced and very accommodating. We just booked a few more days after the first of the year. This is our home away from home.

    5
« Best Western Dillon CO like a private lodge! »

Great location. Multiple buildings on nicely maintained and appointed grounds made this BW feel much more like a private lodge than a motel. Very clean. Great breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Great proximity to shops and stores.

    5
« Clean rooms, well priced. No Air conditioning. »

The location is great, right next to a beautiful lake and is near the tourist cities. Rooms are clean, bathrooms are big and clean and the bedsheets and pillows seem clean. The rooms have no air conditioning. We did not need it since it was winter, but it was uncomfortable in the summer when we stayed there in June 2015. Overall goos hotel and location to stop for a night.

    5
« Excellent hotel with exceptional view »

Truly exceptional location being right on the lake with an incredible view of Mt Dillon and the surrounding snow covered peaks. Everyone at the hotel was so helpful and friendly! I had requested a room facing the lake as this was my father's favorite location and we were coming up there to spread his ashes. Ptarmigan fulfilled my request but I was in a downstairs room right in the front by the parking lot. I asked to be moved to an upstairs room and the clerk was extremely accommodating. This was much appreciated as the hotel was completely booked for the evening. Extensive hot breakfast included in the price which for today's standards is very reasonable. If I return to Dillon I will stay at the Ptarmigan Lodge!

    5
    « Fantastic Stay »

Beautiful hotel on Lake Dillon. Views are fantastic. You can literally walk to the lake from hotel. The hotel is clean and internet is fast. Lots of activities to do around area. Great stay. Reasonable rates. Would recommend to everyone.

    4
« Beautiful location, nicely maintained older motel »

Several separate buildings, well maintained and very clean. Some key card problems, and bathroom was very clean but needs some new nonskid shower strips and a safety bar. Also needs a microwave, had refrig. Must walk outside to access breakfast in building with office. When it snowed staff was shoveling early.

« BW Ptarmigan - Great Stay, Beautiful Setting »

One of the most enjoyable stays in my travels, BW Ptarmigan in Dillon is in a beautiful setting right on the lake. Buildings appear to have been older but remodeled, and room was spacious with a large bathroom. Amenities included TV, refrigerator, Wi-Fi, overhead fan. Excellent water pressure and temperature; at the end of a day of riding or hiking, I like a HOT shower, and this one was superb; I was so ecstatic, I must have taken a 20 minute shower! Hotel staff friendly and professional. The only issue we had was initially finding the room, as there are numerous buildings and we were unfamiliar with the area. Once you get settled, you realize the layout not as big as it appears on the map. Breakfast was average, and the dining room was crowded. But overall a pleasant stay, and will stay here again, as well as recommend. Good value for the price.

    2
    « Don't Believe the Photos »

This looked like a very nice hotel on the lake according to the website photos, but in fact it is a well worn motel-like accommodation with some sloppy painting and a well-used atmosphere. Breakfast room was cramped and I was unable to get connected to wi-fi. Desk clerk was unhelpful and unconcerned about this.

    5
« Excellent one night stay »

We were travelling and needed a stay for one night. This one fits the bill if you like to overlook a beautiful lake with mountains in the background. Add to that outstanding eateries just next door, we loved it.

    4
« Great value for the area. »

great view of lake and mountains just a few steps away from room. Bed should of been firmer. Older looking outside but inside was fine for this price range. Great value for the area. Dillion is close to frisco

    4
« Good Place To Stay »

Enjoyed 4 nights lodging. Breakfast was OK, room clean, staff were good. Don't like the lodge being spread over 4 buildings.Breakfast could be improved by mixing up the two hot foods a little more. No problem for a couple of days but for longer stays it lacks mixing up the hot foods. Each day is either eggs and bacon (3 days in row) and one day eggs and sausage.

    4
    « Nice lake/mountain setting »

This was our first time to stay here. There is no a/c, but the windows opened for a cool breeze plus a ceiling fan. We've definitely stayed in newer places but this was all we needed. The mattress was great and we had a balcony we could go out on and were able to see the lake. There was free breakfast and we were steps away from walking by the lake. We would definitely stay here again in the Fall.

    1
« Get out the bulldozer »

This motel is a disgrace to the lovely spot it is located in. The plumbing is circa 1950. The shower lever is archaic in its operation, and leaks because it is sooooo oooooold. This motel is crying for a full gut job. Every noise from nearby rooms can be heard loud and clear. When someone turns on the water or flushes a toilet the noise that reverberates throughout the area is incredible. The desk employees are nice which is a positive. Please do a serious update.

    2
    « Book direct »

I accidentally booked through a 3rd party site. Usually I call the hotel and see if they can match the price. I didn't this time, my mistake. We were given a "basement" type room that was really dark even with the curtains open, with 2 hard queen size beds. I was really hoping for a more comfortable stay at a Best Western.

    5
    « Best sleep I have gotten »

The outside might look like it's rough but rooms and comfortable. Bed was perfect. Great views close to lake Dillon. Clean rooms. Staff friendly. Room was not as I expected clean comfortable and felt like home.

    4
    « Nice Overnight Stay »

Decided to break up a trip with a stop in Dillon and a one night stay in the BW Ptarmigan Lodge. The hotel is across the street from Lake Dillon. The room was very clean and comfortable, and reminded me of the classic Best Westerns - nothing fancy but very adequate and a good value. Only downside was hearing the room above - TV, walking, etc. so ask for a second floor room. Don't miss the Arapahoe Cafe next door. Also, an easy, short hike to the Old Dillon Reservoir is close by and a great way to start the day with some amazing views.

  • 5
    « Quick trip »

Very nice. Had a room with a view. Breakfast was exceptional and very unexpected. Was a bit noisey from the 2nd floor guest, but overall ok. Dillon is a great stop off for day trips. Went to a restaurant close to the hotel(Arapahoe) what a treat, walking distance and good food.

    5
    « Wonderful stay.... again! »

This is by far one of my favorite places to stay. The view of the lake and mountains is spectacular. It's a wonderful, pet friendly place where you can feel right at home. We always reserve a room with the kitchenette. The breakfast has expanded greatly over the years with lots of choices. A large and relaxing hot tub awaits at the end of the day.

    4
« Best Western Ptarmigan Lodge, Dillon, COLORADO »

This was a nice place to stay. The room was clean, bed was comfortable, and breakfast was plentiful and did not have to wait for anything. Stayed two nights and it was quiet and no problems with noisy guests. Check out was easy and fast. I would recommend this hotel and I will stay here again next time I am visiting.

    5
« Excellent hotel with a great location and price »

This was our first stay at the Ptarmigan and we will definitely be back. The location right on Lake Dillon is awesome and the rates were surprisingly low. The staff was friendly and the rooms were great. They were starting painting on the building we first stayed in and they switched us to a better room for our second night so we wouldn't be inconvenienced by the workers. Great service!

    5
« stay at the Lodge »

This was such a nice place stay The shower area was great All you have to do was step into the shower close the glass door turn on the water The shower head was just right not to soft and not to hard The breakfast was great also The towels were soft and not ruff

« Best Western Ptarmigan Lodge »

What a great hotel! It's in a wonderful location, right across the street from Lake Dillon, a great bike and walking trail, and the amphitheater. It's right next door to the Arapahoe Café, a wonderful local restaurant. The hotel is very attractive, with hanging baskets of beautiful flowers. The staff was exceptionally kind and helpful. Breakfast was wonderful! They had a huge variety of hot and cold items, including bacon and eggs, which were kept well stocked. Highly recommended!

    5
« As Great as it was the first time »

Reviewing again after a couple of years and it was so good to see that things are still as nice as before. I had requested a room at the top level and at the end of the level and that is exactly what I got! That rarely happens! This place is best for the views and hospitality. Why stay in Breckenridge and/or Keystone when this is so affordable and close? Staff was great! Also, there is some construction work right now being done across the way on the addition of an amphitheater. It does not seem to deter anything at the Best Western except maybe some of the view. However, the setting is so nice, that it is just good to be in the area. Breakfast can be a bit hectic if you get there early, but there is plenty to be had all morning long.

    5
    « Multiple stay guest »

Excellent every stay! Stay here everyone time in Dillon which is at least once a year. All our other family members also stay here, especially for every family event. Love the location, convenience and wonderful, helpful, courteous staff! We recommend it to everyone!

    3
    « Beautiful area »

We stayed 1 night. There are no air conditioning in the rooms, which is fine if the temp is cool enough. We were not comfortable leaving the window open as heard all the conversations, dogs barking and luggage being rolled by. The room was noisy even with the window closed. The breakfast area was not kept well stocked and was very busy. It is a beautiful area and there is a very nice walking, biking trail around the lake.

    5
« Home Away from Home »

We stay at this Best Western at least once a year. Same owners for as many years as we can remember. It is evident from the exterior to every corner of the interior the love that goes into maintaining this property. From Spring to late Fall the flowers are a buzz with Humming Birds. You have beautiful views of the mountains and simply cross the road to the Lake. Fantastic eateries well within walking distance. Our favorite is Arapahoe Cafe Pub Down under which is connected to BW parking lot. Rooms are immaculate, and updated on a regular basis. You can easily spend a week at this property and not run out of things to see and do. We have found that the rates for this BW are the most reasonable of all BW's we've stayed in Colorado.

« Nice motel on the shores of Lake Dillon »

This is a nice older motel on the shores of Lake Dillon, and close to several great restaurants. The rooms are decent sized, some with decks, lots of electrical outlets, and good internet speeds. This is centrally located in Dillon. Be aware that there are no air conditioners, which is not a problem in the winter, but could be for some warm nights in the summer.

    4
    « Quick nights stay »

Room was very clean. Didn't quite get the set up. We were in a separate building around the corner from where we checked in. The reason for a 4 instead of a 5 was our room was in the basement of the building. People could walk by & see in . Didn't like to have the curtains closed all of the time. Also the parking was an issue. Someone parked next to us that was not a parking spot. We weren't sure if we were going to be able to back out. My husband finally jockeyed us out. Don't think people would have liked to be woken up at 4 to move their car.

    « Would not reccomend »

This hotel was Eh! the hot tub was great, but room itself and setup of the hotel is not exciting. You need to carry your luggage up and down many steps... front desk is not friendly- whole set up of the hotel is complicating.

« Resort at Motel Price »

Terrific value. The setting across from the lake full of sailboats, the lodge décor, the capable and friendly staff, the comfortable and warm décor rooms, the dining facilities within walking distance-all adds up to an extremely restful and pleasant stay.

« Snuggled right by the Lake and Mountains »

Excellent location, right next to Lake Dillon, and restaurants of Dillon easy walking distance. Bike and walking path around Lake Dillon is right off the front entrance. Many things to do in this area if you are active and love the outdoors. Room is excellent with comfortable beds, and different style rooms to accommodate many different needs. We like the 2nd floor with the balcony that looks out to the mountains. We love it!

« Three nights in Dillon in August 2017 »

Nice hotel right across the street from Lake Dillon. Nice grounds. Very substantial free breakfast each morning. Just a few minutes walk from the marina. It does not offer air conditioning in the summer time but this is not a deal breaker based upon Colorado Mountain Weather. Had a little trouble with card keys going dead but front desk associates were quick to assist. We will return again soon.

« We love to stay here! »

We stay here almost every year on our way to Utah. It is set overlooking Lake Dillon. It is a somewhat older hotel but the rooms are very nice and comfortable. Staff is always professional and helpful. Breakfast is wonderful with several hot items. Only drawback is the heating/ air conditioning set up. If it's summer you only get air conditioning and can't access heat and vice versa. However, the staff quickly brought us a space heater when we were chilly and it worked great. Because they switch to heat early in the fall and it is in the mountains it shouldn't be a problem in the winter.

« Waste of Money- should have drove home »

Attended a wedding in Silverthorne and my daughter wanted to stay the night for a quick girls night. We chose this location to stay here because Best Western normally has a good reputation and they had a hot tub and steam room to come back to. The room we got was basement level dungeon- very dark and we heard the family above us the whole time (woke us up as well). Looking forward to hanging out after the wedding we got back only to find out the hot tub and steam room closed at 9:30 pm- Really? We went back and sat in the dark room with lousy wifi. The key cards barely worked and to top it all off the shower in our room leaked from the ceiling tiles, flooding the floor. We were completely disappointed in our stay and should have chose to drive the 50 min home. Especially considering the price of this lodging.

Great location and very helpful and friendly staff. The parking and business been close by were above par. The view of the montains and weather were fantastic. I'm looking forward for the our next during the fall.

    « Love the location »

Love the location. It's right across the street from Lake Dillon. This year there was construction going on with the new amphitheater being built, but that didn't stop us from having a great time. We just went a little further down by the lake to sit down. Our room was very comfortable, and the breakfast is great! Everyone is very helpful and friendly! The best Best Western we've stayed in!

    « Beware Dungeon-Like Rooms! »

We were looking for a place to spend a night enroute to Durango and as Best Western Rewards members decided to book this property. It is in a beautiful setting next to a lake. I imagine that as a result of booking the lowest possible rate, we were assigned a room that reminded me of a dungeon. When you drew the drapes aside, you realized you were below the parking lot looking up at cars parked there. The room itself was dark and dismal. There was an interesting air conditioning unit that when turned on ran constantly and very loudly. And there was a 1970's push button phone as well! We were only here for a few hours and my husband was tired from driving so we didn't complain or demand a better room. However, be aware that such rooms exist if you book the lower rates.

    « Loved It! »

I stayed for four nights. I had a second floor room in building 3. I did not have a view of the lake, but that was ok. This place is an outstanding value. You absolutely can not beat the scenery or location. It is right on the lake and the multi-use path around the lake. There is also a section of the path that goes down into the outlets in Silverthorne, so you can walk to the outlets. Breakfast was included, as well as internet. This facility (which is actually several buildings, which I loved) is not in the lower portion (Silverthorne), but up on the hill (Dillon). It is much quieter there. And yet, you could still walk to the outlets and a number of really good restaurants. Pretty much everything you could want/need is within walking distance. The facility also has a washer/dryer for guest use (yes, there is a charge, but the ability to do laundry without having to go to a laundromat?!?!) Rooms can be somewhat noisy because you can hear doors closing, and if you leave the windows open, cars coming/going. There is also a semi that delivers to the restaurant next door (unaffiliated with the hotel) around 0530 - that can be noisy. The staff at the front desk were great.

    « Clear Mountain Air »

The Ptarmigan Lodge is high in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, on the shore of Dillon Reservoir. The chalet-style buildings are charming, and the views from the rooms are idyllic. We used it as a peaceful break on a cross-country drive, but it is mostly used as a base for skiiers, hikers and explorers staying for a number of days. There are good restaurants within walking distance.

    « What a Great Find! »

I picked this hotel based on that it accepts pets and it was in the Rockies. I had never stopped in this town before. I LOVED the location. It's across from a large lake. Unfortunately the city was working on building something so I couldnt get to the lake. Although it was raining, the place has an outdoor patio area. The room was of good size but the bathroom was very small. The restaurant next door has excellent!!

« Our favorite hotel in Summit County, Co »

We have stayed in this hotel for 8+ years winter, spring, summer, fall. Have never been disappointed with the property or the service. The location on the lake is fantastic, and close to great restaurants. The only problem is we have to make rezzies so far in advance to get a room. The walks and parking lots are cleared regularly in the winter, and the blooming flower bed and pots are gorgeous in the summer.. And when we need to we can bring our dog.

    « Hidden gem »

Why didn't I stay here before? I've been to the area many times visiting family and have completely overlooked this GEM of a hotel. VERY clean, friendly staff, great location, uber comfy bed...and...what a great price for the area! I'll definitely be back!

« Beautiful location & great value for the money »

We reallly enjoyed our stay here! Grounds surrounding the hotel are beautiful & our room was very clean. Appreciated the comfortable bed, pillows & 24 hr coffee & tea available in the lobby. Hope to stay here again in the future!

« Incredible overall facility -- loved it! »

Very large, apartment-size room with full stove/oven and overhead microwave. Kitchen furniture and dishes, dining room furniture, two wonderful beds, and dressers! Room appeared to be newly refurbished. Spotless. Beds had new pillow-top mattresses and bedding. Towels are sparkling white. Front Desk, Dariela, is very helpful, professional, and super friendly -- an absolute asset to the hotel industry! Breakfast hostesses keeps everything restocked and fresh.

« Great place - very family oriented. »

Our family has spent time here for the last three summers. It's a great place to relax and is especially nice for families. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The view of the lake and the mountain backdrop are fabulous. I wish our family could stay longer.

    « Lovely »

Really enjoyed our stay here. So glad that they are pet friendly and that they had a nice area to sit with tables looking out over the lake. Beautiful view! Only downside was some noise of construction across road for new amphitheater, but well worth it! Also hot tub was great!

    « Great Hotel »

Excellent hotel. The best thing about it is the location. Right off a large lake with massive mountain views. Great ride too to Breckenridge around the east side of the lake. Oh, but no A/C in the room. Not that big of a deal though even though we were there early July. The front desk gave us a nice portable fan, which we used and it was good.

    « clean hotel »

Very clean rooms, nice friendly helpful staff that go out of there way to help the customer. There was good service with the breakfast and the cleaning staff keep the rooms clean on a daily basis. The hotel clerk is ready to give directions to area cafes and activities. There is a great view from the motel located on Lake Dillon.

I didn't realize this was a "stop over" for people. People checked out above me at 5am. Very noisy on the floors. This walls and floors. Then fired up their diesel truck outside my bottom floor unit. NIce location though. Lots of slamming doors in the hallways every evening.. May try another place next time Fred M

« Great Base Camp for Colorado Day Trips »

The Best Western Ptarmigan Lodge in Dillon Colorado offers quality lodging for the price with a rather rustic atmosphere nestled in the pines and with a great view of Lake Dillon and mountains in the background. Visited in the summer time frame and found the accommodations quite acceptable ....they are also well set up for skiers during the winter. We originally planned just a one night stay but we elected to extend to three nights. What impressed us the most was the strategic location just off I-70. We were able to branch out in several directions for day trips to popular Colorado spots such as Vail, Breckenridge, Steamboat Springs, Loveland Pass and more.

    3
« On our way to Vail »

OK old style motel with decent rooms some with lake views. NO AIR CONDITIONING!! Manager said to open windows but I was traveling alone and staying on ground floor. Since it was built as a ski place. It surprised about AC but it was hot during July days. Eventually it cooled off. Nice little town and good stop before being able to get into Vail Condo the next day. If you like cheap and quaint this is your place. Staff very friendly.

« Very satisfied with our stay here »

I would definitley recommend this hotel. Easy check in and check out, extensive breakfast choices with many extra touches, nice staff, clean room. Location is excellent with mountain and lake views, quaint flower boxes. Loved the outdoor tables looking out to the lake and surrounding mountains (ate our breakfast out there!) This hotel is not fancy, but very lovely. Only drawback was that our room didn't have air conditioning and the July days were hot.

« Best Western Ptarmigan Dillon, CO »

Excellent accommodations for us with our little dog. Beautiful view of Lake Dillon. Great TV, great kitchen, hot tub, all very clean. The grounds were beautiful with wildflowers, grassy area for dog & lots of paths for walking. Highly recommend.

    « Pleasant surprise »

Great location, easy to find. Convenient to everything yet in a quiet, scenic area overlooking lake Dillon. Older property that could use updating but kept in good, clean condition. Breakfast and hotel staff were excellent. Good value for the money.

    4
    « A very pleasant stay »

Very pleasant staff, good breakfast, clean rooms and pleasant views of Dillon Lake. The one problem we encountered was noise from adjacent rooms due to the building's older construction. Also the lack of air conditioning on a hot night might force you to choose between outside noise or a hot room.

    5
    « Cozy »

Beds were comfy, hotel was close to restaurants, breakfast was fabulous, plenty of parking, hot tub was big and the space was nice, beautiful view of lake Dillon, staff was helpful. I am definitely going to stay there again.

« The Oldun in Dillon, Colorado »

This Hotel is set in idylic souroundings, Mountains and a large lake, the set up is 4 separate locks in a garden setting on the side of a slight slope ovelooking the lake. In the grounds there is a Diner/Pub. Unfortunately, we had to leave prematurely due to our advanced years and the high altitude (9500 ft). The management were extremely helpful in arranging an alternative Hotel, at a lower Altitude.

« Beautiful, peaceful and very comfortable! »

Great property and location! Everything you need is nearby including One of the best restaurants in Summit County, Arapaho Cafe. The room was very clean and comfortable and full of all the amenities. Very nice!

    « Great get away »

Great place to relax and recharge. Beautiful location and a beautiful area. Close enough to everything, you can walk or bike to most activities, but far enough away from the crowds. Next to the marina and the amphitheater and up the hill from the outlet mall.

    « Love the location. »

We stay at this hotel at least twice a year. Love the location close to everything. Yes it does not have air -conditioning but neither do a lot of hotels in Colorado...not a problem we always pack a fan. Great simple breakfast. This is one of our favorite locations. And its pet friendly

    1
    « The room was a sauna! »

This lodge has no AC/fan, only a ceiling fan. The room temperature consistently stayed at 75 - 79°! Upon calling the desk, I was told to turn on the ceiling fan and open the windows and door to the patio! I was offered a box fan if I wanted to come and get it! Miserable sleeping and it was too hot to open windows, etc. This lodge is a poor representation to the name "Best Western"!!

« Best Western on Lake Dillon »

Upon arrival at 2am with our 11 month old son, we rushed him into the room while he was still asleep and put him in his PackNPlay. After settling him in, we looked around and realized they never cleaned our room. List of what was wrong: bed not made, trash on floor, table and chairs spread throughout the room, all the cups were already used and laying on the table, dirty shower with soap already open and hair on it, change on the bedside table, etc. Lady at front desk was very rude and asked why we wouldn't move to another room and I tried explaining that my son was already asleep and we didn't want to wake him up. She laughed at us and essentially said we were lying about the cleanliness of the room. I would NOT recommend this hotel, mainly due to the lady at the front desk during our arrival. The hotel location was great and beautiful, but the hotel is very rundown and our room was no clean when we arrived. They also still made us pay 75% of our bill which I don't think is fair. We stayed at the hotel for 9 hours and slept in a dirty bed and room.

    « Summer visit »

Advertised as a room with a view of the lake is a pretty big stretch. If you stand in one spot on the balcony and look between two buildings and past a pine tree...yep, there's a lake over there. Also, what hotel doesn't have air conditioning. It was in the 80's and room was warm! Other than that, the room was clean and in good shape. A winter visit would probably be better.

    « Amazing trip! »

The views are amazing and prime location in summit county. You are within about 30 minutes of Copper Mountain, Breckinridge, Keystone and only about 10 minutes from Frisco. Went to Idaho Sptings for some awesome white water rafting which was also about 35 minutes away.

« A economical place to rest after skiing the abundance of trail within 15 miles! »

A clean, perfectly located hotel right in the middle of ski country. The rooms are spacious, comfy beds, and the included breakfast preps you for your daily adventures. The large hot tub does the trick to soothe your body after skiing all day. Keystone, A-Basin and Breck are within a 20 minute drive!! Not staying on the mountain really saves a ton of money. The local restaurants near the hotel are a plus. Already have my reservation for our next ski trip in 2018.

    « Outdated But Clean »

We had a room that faced the inner courtyard area so no lake view. The room was outdated and a little dark and we had issues with getting the toilet to flush. When we arrived there was toilet paper in the toilet already, like it had been used but it appeared clean. I think maybe housekeeping had a problem with getting it to flush as well because everything else was clean. We enjoyed the balcony on the room and the breakfast room was very nice as well. Unfortunately there was major construction in front of the hotel which was noisy and annoying. All in all I thought it was a decent value for the price we paid. It is in a great location, much quieter than Breckenridge. You can walk to the farmers market, a few restaurants and pubs and the lake.

« Fantastic Place to Stay »

This is our 8th time staying at the Best Western Ptarmigan Lodge in Dillon CO. We will not stay at any other hotel when we are visiting Dillon/Frisco area. The rooms are always inviting and clean. We have recommended this hotel to our friends and family and will recommend them again.

    2
    « Disappointed »

The hotel is old, inconvenient to get around in (several buildings) and over-priced. We had to drive around the block to get to our room. It is in a fabulous location with a great view of mountain peaks beyond the lake. There are free concerts in a park across the street.

    5
« Nice 'cabin feel' motel on the lake. »

Large, clean, updated rooms in building #3. Comfortable bed, OK breakfast, and beautiful location on the lake surrounded by mountains. The outside looks more like an old style motel but the rooms were modern and updated. I will be back if in the area.

    5
    « Perfect location »

Best location and view in area, and reasonable, too. Friendly and accomodating staff. Quiet location right across street from Lake Dillon away from traffic. Adjacent to bike/walking paths that are part of the area's paved pathways.

« At least the construction workers stopped at 6pm »

This is not a hotel. Its a dog kennel. Thank the maker I got a full refund after a 2 hour stay. Holiday Inn in Frisco is a couple of bucks more and worth it. There is no air conditioning at this BW. Barking dogs and open windows= bad review.

« An older property; but a good value »

I like this motel/hotel because it offers a good value for the price. It's also pet friendly, if that's important to you. I spoke to two staff people: both receptionist/reservationists who were on premises in Dillon, not at the 800-number reservations center . The young woman who took my reservation and deposit was very friendly and accommodating. I asked for a room: 1-on the ground floor; 2-with a lake view; and 3-a King bed rather than two doubles. She advised they were unfortunately sold out of King bed rooms during my visit; but assured me she had assigned me to a ground floor room with a lake view. Great. When I arrived, I was given a second floor room on the backside of a building, facing directly away from the lake. The receptionist I spoke with at check-in was also very friendly, as well as polite and efficient; but she said my reservation contained absolutely no note or other indication that I wanted a lake view or ground floor room(!). She was able to re-assign me to a ground floor room (still two doubles) and, though it was on the lake side of the building, the views were directly at the back of the closer building which separated us from the lake. OK. I'll take it. Too late (and no better options) to quibble. Not your fault. Thanks for helping to the extent you could, as quickly as you could. The room was smallish but comfortable and adequate. There was a small fridge and a coffee maker; but no microwave. I used and appreciated the free wifi; but they need to add at least a couple of USB outlets--probably next to the bed(s) and near the desk. There were an abundance of 110/120 outlets; but today USB outlets are no longer a pleasant surprise. They are now a necessity for the smart phones, laptops, smart books and other devices that use the free wifi. The room and it's bath appeared to have been renovated fairly recently. They were pleasant and functional, as well as spotlessly clean. The bed was honestly one of the most comfortable I've ever slept on. There was no air conditioning; but there was an effective ceiling fan that ran very quietly. This property just feels more like a motel than a hotel. It's been pleasantly renovated, however, and was actually very comfortable. I wasn't able to try the "free" continental breakfast. At less than $100/night, I would stay here again; but I'd send and confirm periodic reminders regarding my room preferences.

« Best Western in Dillion CO »

The view of the lake would have been amazing had it not been for the road construction during my stay. The room was great, plenty of space and very clean, However there was a door leading to a porch outside that was bolted shut. The internet service was excellent. Breakfast was good but the pastry's were a little on the stale side but there is a great breakfast restaurant in the parking lot of the hotel. I would recommend staying in this hotel if you are in the area.

« Great stay, friendly staff »

Stayed here one night only but liked the location and the friendly. The property borders a beautiful lake, very scenic. The staff was friendly and the complimentary breakfast was pretty good, decent variety. The air ceiling fan in our room made some noise but not too much. I would stay here again, enjoyed it and would recommend it for others

    « wouldn't go again »

The rooms were clean however the walls were thin so we could hear the people next to us and above us all the time. Also the plumbing that ran through the walls in our unit knocked all freaking night, it made for very restless nights. The area between the hotel and the lake is now under construction son instead of the view of the lake you get to stare at/ listen to construction equipment.

    « Large clean room »

The motel is comprised of four buildings. I don't believe that it was an original Best Western, but it was fine. The room was clean and had two queen beds. As with most lower to mid priced hotels it is in need of tender loving care. They had an excellent breakfast in the morning , everything that you could want. The staff was friendly.

« We really enjoyed our stay! »

My daughter and I stayed here for the weekend while skiing Arapahoe Basin. We thought the room was lovely. The sheets were of good quality and sparkling white. Having a variety of pillows is really important to me. Much to my delight, we each had four pillows on our beds! A couple of big puffy ones, a squooshier (feather?) one, and one that was something inbetween, that was just right for me... . They weren't of particularly good quality, but I was quite satisfied and slept well. I will say, the walls were kind of thin in the rooms. I could hear the people in the next room having a conversation in a normal tone of voice. There was a nice big flat screen TV in the room. We don't really watch TV, so we never even turned it on, but it looked like a real nice one. They have a nice big hot tub, as well as a dry sauna, centrally located in the grouping of hotel room buildings. A welcome amenity after a hard day of skiing. Plenty of clean dry towels were on hand in the hot tub room (...not like some places where you have to bring a towel from your room or try to grab a staff member and ask where you can get an extra towel or two for the hot tub.) Finally, I'd like to say how much I enjoyed the continental breakfast. It was very nice. I expected the usual offerings of course: bagels, toast, English muffins, mini lemon poppy seed muffins, pastries, and a variety of cereal offerings. But this is one of the nicer spreads that includes a Belgian waffle machine (regular syrup AND blueberry syrup), scrambled ?egg food product? (which was disgusting, by the way) and delicious sausage links. They also had real eggs, hard boiled, peeled, and refrigerated, but I slipped one into a cup of hot water from the coffee machine and it was perfectly warm by the time I toasted my bagel and made my coffee choice. I appreciated that they had a variety of milk, 1%, 2%, and whole milk. Oh yeah, even soy milk. All readily available. There was one of those Minute Maid juice dispensers with orange juice, cranberry juice, and, ?lemonade or something. Anyway? we enjoyed our free breakfast. The property is so beautiful with the lake so near and the mountains so grand! There are a variety of restaurants nearby in addition to a Walgreens and a City Market (Kroger) grocery store.

« Basic but in a great location »

Stayed here on my way back to Denver. Have stayed in Summit county many times but this was my 1st time at this property. It is not fancy but is clean and comfortable and the location is great. There is a very good restaurant on site (The Arapahoe) and that is a plus. The continental breakfast was minimal but I was going out to a local place for breakfast anyway so that didn't matter to me. My room had a nice balcony and partial view of Dillon Lake which was also very nice. Bed was very comfortable. Wi-Fi was a little slow. Would definitely stay here again.

« My Go To Place »

What can I say. I've been staying here as my go to get away place for decades now, with my kids, family, etc. It's always been a great place to stay - kick back and get out in the mountains. Never spend too much time in the room, but it's always been kept up very nicely and over recent years has added and steadily improved the breakfast. Hey - over 20 years of staying here now and then - and I still come back.

« Beautiful Views!! Clean hotel room! The works! »

I was visiting my best friend who lives in Colorado Springs. We decided to drive up to Breckenridge, CO for the weekend. My friend found the Best Western and we booked a room to stay on a Sat night. All though there was some street and walking path construction, when we pulled up, we couldn't believe the views. Just absolutely breath taking. Check in was super easy. The front desk mgr working was so nice and helpful with questions we had about the area. We got our room which was easy to get too. The room was clean and smelled fresh. The hot tub was very nice, spacious and clean. Beautiful views from the hot tub room as well. The hot breakfast had a great selection as well. The food tasted good and was fresh. The staff was excellent, too. Definitely recommend staying there. I can't wait to go back and visit her, just so we can stay at the Best Western again. The views... unreal. So beautiful.

    « Solid Value »

Second visit to this motel. Will consider them for 2017-2018 visits. Although close to some lakefront condos, it is not close to other motels which is nice. Location has nice lake views, and good access without being on main thoroughfares. Realistic expectation for a good value keep this place on my list. Breakfast was adequate and bountiful. Housekeeping may be the weakest link, but nothing was found to be unacceptable.

Great hot tub! Wished it was opened until slightly later though! The location was fantastic - mere walking distance to several great restaurants and a very short drive to the Silverthorne outlets. Less than 30 minutes drive to either Breck or Copper Mountain. Great spot for an overnight stay coming from Denver especially. Rooms are slightly dated for the price, but overall very presentable and offers the usual BW-quality comfort!

    « Perfect location »

Your first impression is "wow what a view". Most rooms face Lake Dillon. While it was still winter there, when we stayed, the mountain view was spectacular. There are restaurants within walking distance for any meal and any taste you could want. Be aware of the altitude. It does take some getting use to. Walking is a joy but it is work. The hotel is adequate but not "resort" quality. We enjoyed our 2 day stay. We couldn't enjoy their breakfast because the room is so small. Many people got breakfast and sat outside to eat. In the summer this may not be an issue since it would be so much warmer. While it wasn't a 10 it is worth staying for your stay.

    « Unsafe »

I would not stay here again. Room smelled like pee. Someone tried to enter room. View was nice. Equivalent of a motel and not worth the room fee. Book that was left was not turned in by maid. You can hear everything, conversations. Hot tub was too gross to use.

« Great location but outdated »

Dillon is a hidden gem in Colorado with a beautiful lake and an 18 mile trail for running & biking. I was here for a night and enjoyed my stay here. However, this is an old property that needs to be updated. Pros 1) Great location: right by the lake, trail, and outdoor music venue. Many shops and stores are just a mile away. 2) Free breakfast 3) Balcony with a nice mountain view 4) Ski storage 5) Nice hot tub Cons 1) This property is outdated and needs to be updated. 2) No AC: since it was not hot in September when I visited, it didn't bother me much. I had a great time in beautiful Dillon and would like to come back here again. Overall it was an ok property with a great location.

    « I love the Ptarmigan Lodge »

This hotel is very comfortable in a cool mountain town, Close to so many ski resorts, very friendly staff. The spa is very nice and they do a good job on the free breakfast. It also looks over a beautiful lake and some of the rooms even have patios.

    4
    « Nice View »

Nice place to stay. Wake up to a view of the lake out side the property. An old famous restaurant next door. everything you need in one location. The location is good to travel to ski resorts and other towns in the area. The rooms were very comfortable. They had locker to hold you ski equipment near the entry doors. If you are in the area this should the a place to consider

« One night away from the city! »

My husband and I decided at the last minute that we wanted to get out of town for a night. After reading reviews on Trip Advisor, we called and found availability at the Ptarmigan Lodge. We were definitely not disappointed! The room was located on the second floor in Building 3 away from the construction. It was very clean, and comfortable. I especially appreciated the soft bathroom towels. The property is next to the reservoir, so it was nice to take a walk down by the water. Breakfast was quite good - eggs, sausage, pancake and waffle makers, juice, coffee, tea, danishes, fruit, cereal, etc. We will certainly keep the Ptarmigan Lodge on our list of mountain get-aways!

    5
« Great Place to Stay in Summit County »

We have stayed here several times and will not consider staying elsewhere in this area. The location is outstanding, overlooking a beautiful alpine lake (Lake Dillon reservoir), across the road from biking and hiking trails, and very near (even next door) to several good local restaurants. The rooms are clean and the included breakfast has a good selection of hot and cold items and good coffee. Couldn't ask for more!

« Lakefront hotel with just enough to keep you busy for a night or two. »

This hotel offers a very centrally-located place from which to begin whatever adventure you have planned in the surrounding mountains. If you want a lakefront room, book early. We arrived after booking just the day before and missed out on a room closer to the water that wild have afforded us the spectacular sight of Lake Dillon. We did get a peek-a-boo view. Better than nothing! There are the places for food within walking distance. The Arapahoe Cafe, Pug something Brewery (sorry, can't remember), & an Italian place we didn't go to. For food, the brewery was simply amazing. We had the stuffed mushrooms and hot wings. Excellent! I also appreciated that, although it was a bit over an hour from opening the dining area, the bartender and waitress sat us down and assured us it was okay. After having just been turned down by the Arapahoe for entering 15 minutes early, that was a welcome change. (What, the registers don't work until exactly 4:00?) Speaking of the Arapahoe Cafe, great downstairs bar with a pool table and televisions. Witnessed an embankment beatdown as Denver lost to the Chargers.

    « Our "Time Shsre" »

Unparalleled views of Lake Dillon and the Tennessee Miles Range. We freQuentin this facility for a number of reasons Consistently, they have friendly staff, good breakfasts, and clean facilities. We stay in the pet friendly rooms. Occasionally we rent a room with full kitchen facilities. It is a great place for pets. It is across the street from the Dillon Amphitheater, where concerts are available in the summer. Next door is the Arapahoe Cafe that serves specials in the basement pub. (Great ribs!)

« Great stay as always! »

We stay here for a couple of days every six months. The service is always wonderful. We love the scenery and hot tub. We recommend going during the off-season as it is less expensive and less crowded.

    5
« Great place for budget minded »

We stayed here 3 nights while we were on vacation. Hotel was very clean and the front desk was friendly. We had a really nice view of the reservoir and we loved the hot tub. They had nice patio furniture to sit out front and look over the boats sailing. There are several really nice restaurants a few steps from the hotel. Breakfast was really nice and there was lots of hot and cold items to choose from. There was coffee and tea available in the lobby all day. There was no a/c, but they had a fan we put in front of the window and it was very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again and we would highly recommend!

    « Great views! »

I recently stayed here Monday thru Friday with my Mom and her dog. The beds were very comfortable, the rooms were clean (even the pet friendly room), and the views are fantastic! The breakfast was nice, including scrambled eggs, sausage links, waffles, pancakes, toast, cereal, fruit...great selection. Nice sized hot tub. We will definitely stay here again. There were so many great hiking trails nearby! The only con was the construction right across bldg 2, but not the hotels fault.

    « A favorite place to stay »

My husband and I have stayed at this hotel several times and will gladly come back again. We like it because it is very quiet and private, it is always clean, the breakfast is good, and the location is great.

    5
« great room and breakfast »

Great room at a great rate! It was spacious, clean, quiet, and decorated nicely. Great location too, right next to the beautiful Dillon lake. Free parking and breakfast- you can see the lake through the windows in the breakfast room and make pancakes or waffles yourself. They provide both hot foods like sausage and scrambled eggs and cold foods like eggs, yogurt, milk and pastry etc, Highly recommended!

    5
« Hiking in the Rockies »

Anytime I travel I use trip advisor to assist. I read reviews is people who complain or praise but it is about expectations. Don't leave one star for a great budget hotel when you should not expect the Ritz. This place was clean, great location and for the price was 5 stars. Do yourself a favor if you can stay here or a fancy hotel in Denver get her and enjoy the views and the near by trails. Great stay

    « The BEST! »

What a rare find! This must be the best Best Western I have ever experienced. Price was very reasonable and the room was fantastic. What a view and I didn't have to pay extra! Nice people at check-in which were so very helpful. Breakfast was wonderful with many options and hot items! Area for it for rather small, but most people eat and leave quickly. Dillon may not seem like a lot beyond the reservoir and the outlet stores, but this quiet gem is just the best!

    5
    « Love this place! »

Ptarmigan is right on the water - and so reasonable. Clean rooms, quiet, close to an adorable place for breakfast, the outdoor concert venue, and the trail around the lake! It is a special gem, off the beaten path.

« Our go-to motel in Dillon, Colorado »

Fell in love with this motel. It's location is on Lake Dillon with full lake views. You can walk out, cross the street and be on the bike trail around the lake which connects to Breckenridge, Copper, and Vail. The room is comfortable with pegs for skis. The frig is larger than most with a separate freezer section. Restaurants are within walking distance. The staff is lovely. The breakfast options include scrambled eggs and sausage daily, pancakes or waffles with 3 extra optional toppings, plus the usual assortment of boiled eggs, cereal, breads, muffins, fruit, and peanut butter. Internet was the fastest we have experienced in a motel, took no time loading videos. Oh and they were very accommodating to our pets. Our only disappointment was not having a microwave in the room, although the breakfast microwave is always available.

« Hotel on Lake Dillon »

We stayed at Ptarmigan Lodge 2 nights this time and once 3 years ago. It is a very nice hotel located just across the road from Lake Dillon. It is about 100 miles from the Denver making it a good place for a first night stay if you are traveling west from Denver. There is also a good restaurant located in the hotel parking lot.

    4
« Good hotel in great surroundings »

Stopped for one night before reaching Denver. Arrived in the afternoon but feeling under the weather so literally only used as a place to sleep but what I saw of the surrounding area was very nice with a large reservoir and lake views. There are also plenty of stores and eateries nearby. We got a ground floor room in block 4 at the back. The room itself was spacious with a large sharp flat screen TV and comfortable double beds. It was quite cool so lack of air con was not a problem for us. There was a ceiling fan. The complimentary breakfast had a good selection of items including hot items (so-so sausages and scrambled egg), cereals, bread/bagel, sweet pastries, yoghurt, fruit, juices and hot drinks. A nice addition: waffle makers to make your own fresh waffles. My one criticism was the shower which had difficult to use controls and a terrible spray. I was looking forward to a nice hot shower but the water came out like a full-on tap - worst shower head I've ever used! Overall, I would recommend this as a comfortable stopover in a convenient location.

    3
« Convenient Location with great views »

Location is convenient to the amphitheater, dock, Tiki Bar and restaurants. Great view of Lake Dillon. The room itself was large and clean. We had a woodpecker on the back wall of our bathroom that enjoyed waking us up in the morning. The bar/restaurant behind the lodge has guests that leave at all hours that feel the need to let their Harley Motorcycle idle for 20 minutes at 11:30 p.m. and upon calling the front desk we were told there was nothing they could do. The breakfast is better than most. We were just expecting coffee and Danish but they offered eggs, sausage, yogurt, granola, cereals, muffins and fruit. The rooms have a small refrigerator to keep items in as well as a coffee pot.

« Would not stay again »

Too many things in room didn't work, bathtub plug didn't close, water kept changing temp on its own, no way to get into room once balcony door closed (on its own), hard to get to dining room from building 4 where we were put even though we had long ago requested a lake view. Just too many frustrations and there are other places in town to stay in.

    5
« Real nice place for a short or long stay »

Best Western in Dillon, CO offers clean, spacious rooms with nice grounds for walking and a good selection of restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast was good and the scenery gorgeous. All rooms in Dillon are a tad pricey since its a resort area but this hotel is worth it.

    5
    « Stunning location »

Lovely motel. Good sized room, very clean. Ok breakfast included. Lots of walking /cycling outside the door. I would stay here again. We were in a ground floor room at the back but you could ask for a room with lake/mountain views.

    3
    « Comfortable room »

Good location near the Dillon Marina and some rooms have a lake view. We had a nice ground floor room in one of the rear buildings. Good parking and a short haul to our room. Room was very comfortable with good beds. Would stay here again.

    4
« great location but not the view shown »

For views of the lake and mountains, it was great and an easy walk to the lake and nearby park. But,it was not the room view shown to lure people in as almost all rooms have views only of the grounds. Very good breakfast with a very inadequate sitting area unless it is warm and you can sit outside.Nice grounds. Good wi-fi. There is biking hiking path that goes forever but especially great to get to the nearby park Good price. The balcony door locks you out, no key to get in, found this out right away. Luckily, my wife was still in the room! Water temp controls in bath and sink hard to control, bathtub plug didn't work. Warning not to answer phone inquiries led us to think it was a high crime area. Strange that a full length mirror was opposite the toilet but no where else to put one! No microwave, none promised! Thermostat didn't control the heat and we needed to open the door to cool a bit. I'd stay again with a more realistic expectation of a lake view!

    4
    « Would stay again »

Other than having thinner walls as it is a charming older style hotel and no air conditioning other than windows (unless I missed something?), was a great place to stay. Great breakfast and staff. Clean. Beautiful location.

« Not what I booked, unhelpful staff, will not be back! »

I booked a lake or mountain view room 2 months in advance. When we arrived, I was told the best they had available was a "courtyard". I made the short walk to several lake view rooms, with curtains open, and no guests checked in. When I asked the front desk clerk about those rooms, she said someone was already going to be checking in and they were not available. As a Best Western rewards member I expected better service than I received. To make things worse, we checked into our dated and run down "outbuilding" that had a horrible smell. We left this dump and checked in to a much nicer hotel down the street. Needless to say, we will never book this hotel again.

    3
    « Ptarmigan Lodge »

We always stay here for our mountain getaway. This time, we had our dog with us so the room wasn't as nice as those in the other buildings. There is no AC so it was a little warm and we had noisy neighbors on the first night. I'm not sure if alcohol was causing their bad behavior or they just left home without their manners. As far a the location, it doesn't get any better!

    5
    « Adorable Lodge/Hotel on the Lake »

My husband and I stayed here for a romantic getaway to the mountains. We had a fantastic time! The staff is very friendly, the facilities are well-maintained and spotless, and the lake is right there!! The small balconies are perfect and the courtyard is beautiful. We enjoyed walking by the water and even walked into town for dinner (15-minute walk). I would highly recommend this as a great place to stay! We really enjoyed the changing aspens during this season as well.

    3
    « Good enough »

The facility is not brand new but seems well maintained. Our room was quiet and apparently clean, though the bathroom smelled of mildew. The complimentary breakfast was extremely crowded, which made things a bit unpleasant.

« Perfect Lodge over looking the Lake Dillon »

We where driving outside of Denver looking for a Best Western Hotel to stay at. My wife was looking in the AAA tour book & see this one,we where about 20 miles from there. It was so beautiful over looking the lake. we enjoyed our overnight stay. Will return again in the future.

    5
« Very Nice Best Western »

This Best Western is definitely exceptional as the previous review stated with very reasonable prices. The rooms are quite comfortable, and the grounds are beautiful. It is located on the lake and walking distance from several restaurants. We've stayed here several times, and always had a great time.

    4
    « Clean, good location. »

We stayed in this hotel while in town for a wedding. The location is perfect - short walk to lake and outdoor concert area, restaurant and brewery. The rooms were clean, beds comfy and it was quiet. We didn't try the breakfast offered, but others said it was quite nice and extensive.

    5
    « Exceptional BW »

Owners take exceptional pride in the cleanliness of their hotel, inside and outside. They have potted flowers everywhere in the summer and spring and have kept them pretty ALL the time. Other hotels, I have found, do not pay this much attention to the landscape, which is important to my husband and me!

    5
    « room with a view »

Excellent service, comfortable and clean. Great location on the shores of Lake Dillon, Co. A must stay. Ask for a room with a lake view . it gives something extra to your stay. the view will take your breath away. Very nice breakfast as well and our experience was nothing but positive.

    5
« Fantastic stay and value! »

Our one regret is that we only had one night to stay at this lovely hotel. Staff was friendly and professional, the rooms were comfortable and clean, and the location is outstanding, right on the lake! We enjoyed walking along the shore and sitting on park benches while taking in the beauty of the lake and Rocky Mountains. The complimentary breakfast was adequate and the coffee was good. Wish we had more time here!

    5
« Best Value in Best Western »

We think this is the best value in the Best Western chain. It's a little older, but the combination of the locale, grounds, cleanliness, friendly and conscientious staff more than overcomes the age factor. We always ask to stay in the old section with a view of the lake.

    4
    « Short stay »

Very clean hotel. Only there for overnight but had a very nice view. When we got to the room, the air conditioner was on and it was cool in the room. It was very hot and humid outside, so it was nice and cool for sleeping.

    4
    « Ptarmigan in Dillon »

Excellent service, beautiful views, wi-fi worked, and stay was comfortable. The Ptarmigan Hotel is within walking distance of the Dillon Reservoir & Marina. It is also just a short drive from Frisco and Silverthorne where there are many restaurants & shopping.

    5
    « PEACEFUL & RELAXING »

The hotel is just a few steps from Dillon Reservoir, the Dillon Amphitheater, Marina, and a beautiful paved trail all of the way around the lake. The property is lovely and well maintained with pine trees, lush grass, and hanging baskets of bright, Colorado flowers. The room was well thought out and perfectly clean. We had a mini-balcony with doors and windows that opened to let in the sweet, clean, mountain air. Two minutes from the Silverthorne outlet malls, and many restaurants and other attractions. We would definitely return on future trips to the mountains!

  • 4
    « Beautiful Setting »

Looks are deceiving. This rather plain, older motel had very quiet and comfortable rooms and is situated in a beautiful location by lake with walking paths. The breakfast was well done (although the room where served was cramped an a little uncomfortable). We will definitely stay here next time.

    5
    « Pleasantly Surprised »

My first trip to Dillon Co and we couldn't of picked a better place to spend 6 nights. Perfect location directly across from Lake Dillon. Lots of things to do in the area. The room was in bldg 2 and was very clean and comfortable.

    « Great get away »

Beautiful location and a great place to get away from all the tourists. Great location for a base camp with all the stuff to do in the area. The rooms are nice, the staff is excellent but the breakfast selections can get a little old on a long stay (but I don't come here for the breakfast). The only reason I would state as to why to not come here is so I would have less of a problem getting a reservation when every I want to come back.,

    5
« Beautiful location and lodging with some character »

I was traveling primarily for business with some vacation days, had been on the road a while, and was so happy to land at this hotel. The grounds are nicely landscaped and maintained, the room was large and comfortable, the area is quiet with fantastic scenery. I liked that the lodge doesn't look or feel like a corporate chain. I would stay there again for skiing or summer vacation travel.

    5
« Great location, peaceful, lots of room, great value! »

The staff granted our requested room with a perfect view of the lake. Short walk across the street to a little lake "beach", paved bike trail, walking trail. Several picnic tables to eat outside in the great summer weather. Walking distance to several eateries. Arrival and checkin and checkout was a breeze and totally enjoyed our stay. The room was perfect size and amenities for the traveling family.

    4
    « Near Dillon lake »

The accommodations cover four different buildings with only one building having a view of the lake. OK rooms with breakfast in the morning . Could use a little updating but in a great location near some restaurants .Reasonable rates and helpful staff.

    5
« Beautiful Place to Stay »

The views are Beautiful. Hotel is right on Lake Dillon. So we enjoyed a picnic and a wonderful walk along the lake. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. No air conditioner, but with the windows open and the balcony door open it wasnt bad. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Nice breakfast in the morning. WOuld definitely stay her again.

« A very good reasonable place to stay in the mountains »

So if you are looking for a reasonable place to stay in the mountains, Best Western Ptarmigan Lodge may be the place for you. The price is right (depending on which rooms you choose), and the location is right in Dillon, Colorado-- with several towns not far away. My favorite place to vacation is in Dillon, and my lady friend loves the Ptarmigan lodge as they always have what she needs, and reserves ahead of time. They have small rooms, medium rooms, and even a larger one as well, and I can guarantee that whichever one you choose, you will be comfortable there. The rooms are clean, the janitorial service is very good, and you should enjoy your stay there. One thing-- you may want to bring your own pillows, as their pillows are quite small. But that is a personal preference sort of thing! The breakfast area is okay, but that's the best I can give it-- if you really want an outstanding breakfast, go to the Arapahoe Café and Pub which is RIGHT next to the Best Western. You will enjoy breakfast there! So you can't beat the price and the service, and you will really enjoy the view of the mountains all around you, as well as Lake Dillon, which is practically in your backyard!! Come check it out!!

    « Great Mountain Lodge »

We were traveling as a group of seven and reserved three rooms. Arrived later in the evening and were quickly checked in. The Lodge is right on Lake Dillion and there was a live band playing. They were actually quite good by the way. The music stopped by around 9:30. Our rooms were nice and clean. They do not have air conditioned rooms, but with the ceiling fan going and the windows open, the fresh mountain air made it one of the best night's sleep on our trip. We checked out the breakfast in the morning, complete with waffles, sausage, and the usual things found in hotels. All very good. Are is a bit cramped for space, but overall not bad. They served real orange juice from pitchers, not from a watered-down machine. All of our beds were queens, two per room. Bathrooms were fine as well. We would very likely stay at this hotel again and highly recommend it, provided the weather is such that you can enjoy the cool mountain air.

    « What a view in Dillon »

Stay here for the view......or if you are looking to do anything on the water the marina is across the street! Wonderful spot if you are going to Keystone events but don't want to pay their prices! The view is much better too ~ you see lake and mountains! Rooms are small and walls are VERY thin, but other than that, it was a good location on the way to and from anywhere in the area.

    5
    « Loved it!!!! »

What a great surprise! Loved it! great location, walking/bike paths just across the street. Great views of Dillon Lake. All amenities around the corner. PETCO, KingMarket, Gas, liquor stores, and dozens of restaurant. Dog friendly...Free concerts Friday and Saturday a block away. Minutes from Breckenridge, Frisco, Vail.. Friendly staff, great breakfast. Beautiful tables outside for staring into the lake or painting. Dillon marina a block away, Tiki bar, boat rides, paddle boarding.

    « Awesome Mountain Lodging »

We love this hotel & location! Amazing views of Dillon Lake & the mountains! Such a great value for what you get. It's steps away from the lake and long trails. Breckenridge is only a 15-20 minute drive. Dillon & Silverthorne offer great restaurant options, shopping and site seeing. It's the perfect place to take a family! We love going there every couple of years.

    5
    « Great accommodations »

Grabbed a room at the last minute while in Silverthorne and it turned out to be a great stay, right next Lake Dillon, nice room, great breakfast service and can't beat the location. We snapped a lot of pics as we walked around the lake, the amphitheater and the park, then biked the path around the whole lake. Great stay!

    « by the lake »

very good hotel placed on the lake shore ( Lake Dillon); nice view, usual free continental breakfast. Clean room, wi-fi. Good choice if you want to spend some time enjoying the beautiful view of the lake.

« Our second marvellous stay »

A year ago we stayed for the first time in the BW Ptarmigan Lodge and as then our stay was just fabulous: the warm welcome at check in, the huge king room with private balcony on the quiet side of the lodge, the breakfast buffet in the morning, the restaurant nearby for an excellent dinner and the location directly at lake Dillon. Even there is no AC in the room, with the temperatures in Dillon (it is over 2000m) you really don't need it, you can enjoy the nice breeze from Lake Dillon. We wish we could stay longer but we will definitely come again!!

    3
    « Anti"quaint"ed »

Rustic and located in a perfect "Primo" place, but very old and outdated. No air conditioner or microwave; otherwise good value for the cost. If you are okay without these 2 amenities, grab this deal!

« Beautiful setting in Dillion »

This is a nice hotel in Dillon with a lake front setting. This is an older property with a rustic decor. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was good. The room did not have air conditioning but with the windows open it was cool. We'd stay here again.

« Great place to stay! »

This hotel has a great view and very friendly staff. Beds are super comfy and within walking distance to restaurants and the lake. Breakfast was always delicious and the food never seemd to run out. Great variety of food as well.

« beautiful Dillon Lake views »

lakeside delight with really comfortable bed, great location, and delicious free breakfast and super friendly staff. Don't get the room next to the ice maker! The Arapahoe Café in their parking lot was really convenient and good. Also right across the street from the amphitheater

    5
« GREAT VIEW OF LAKE DILLON! »

The hotel in in an excellent location. It's a close drive to Breck, Frisco, etc.. It's a few minute walk to Lake Dillon from the parking lot. Pug Ryans and other food establishments/bars are a short walk away. The hotel also offers a good, free complimentary breakfast. The rooms were nice, quiet & clean.

    2
    « Where's The View??? »

Guess nothing can be done now, but how disappointing to be in such a lovely setting, across the street from a magnificent mountain lake and the surrounding scenery only to be in a Inn with no views, outdated small rooms and virtually no ambience. Really a shame. It did explain the relatively low rate.

    5
    « Summer stay »

We had a great experience for a July stay. The staff was very friendly, the room well presented, including a small balcony. The scenery is superb, with Lake Dillon across the street. The ampitheater nearby hosted daily events, including a wonderful outdoor church service.

    4
« Clean, quiet and very convenient to bike trails »

My husband and I stayed here for just one night during our short trip to bike ride to Breckenridge and Copper Mountain. Hotel is not fancy, but, it is clean and very convenient to bike trails and Lake Dillon. Our room was comfortable and quiet.

    4
« Gem in the Wilderness »

Rustic, but well maintained rooms at a good price. Views and within walking distance of Lake Dillon and mountain backdrop, walking trails and amphitheater. Close entry to Dillon Marina and a park for children. Wonderful breakfast including: scrambled eggs, sausage, cereal, muffins, danishes, bagels, yogurt, fruit cups and fresh fruit. Entrance in buildings looked odd due to storage lockers for skiers at first glance. Overall a hidden treasure - we will be back!

    4
« Friendly, convenient and clean »

The personnel are always helpful and very friendly. We always stay here as a stop over on our way to visit family. We enjoy the view of the lake and request a particular room for our needs and always get it. They have an area for us to walk our dog. We have never had a problem here. We used to stay at another chain in Dillon and believe me, the Ptarmigan Lodge wins in caring about their guests. The breakfast is usual but does include hot and cold items.

My wife, sister and brother in-law stayed five days at Ptarmigan Lodge and enjoyed every day. Rooms were nice, clean, comfortable beds, and the price was reasonable. Breakfast was excellent. Scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, cereal, yogurt, sweet rolls, toast, and fruit. Very good selection and plenty of it. always had food ready. We would stay here again next time we are in Dillon. The lake is close and there are paths to walk or ride bikes. You can ride around the lake. Beautiful lake.

    « Stunning Location »

We attended a concert at the Dillon amphitheater, not realizing that the Ptarmigan Lodge was right next to it (awesome). Rooms were clean, service was outstanding, and the view of the lake against the mountains is unparalleled. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone.

    « Great Stay »

The hotel had a beautiful setting. The staff was great and the room was wonderful. It is a great place to stay and take a nice walk around the lake. I also did not find the hotel too pricey either. It was very convenient to a great restaurant as well.

    « Beautiful View »

The Ptarmigan Lodge Best Western Hotel in Dillon, Colorado. It is located directly on Lake Dillon. It is a beautiful setting. All the flowers around the grounds add so much to the experience of the lake and the mountains. There are several areas of picnic tables overlooking the lake for families and groups to gather there on the hotel grounds. The room I stayed in had a small kitchenette with fridge, stove with oven, microwave, fully stocked with dishes and kitchen linens. The bed and the pillows were very comfortable. Everything was immaculate in the room. Very nice bathroom, tub with shower and plenty of bath towels and toiletries. I would highly recommend this hotel. I have stayed there several times, summer and winter, and will go again. Keystone ski resort is just down the road maybe 6 miles. Why would anyone go there to stay paying those high prices when you can stay at a reasonably priced hotel a short distance away. They are also pet friendly. I have stayed there with my chihuahua and no issues with her. She loved it too.

« A stop of on the way »

We needed a place to stay outside of Denver and before we got to Vail. This was the perfect place. Wonderful views, good location. Near a small town. Good rooms at a fair price with breakfast and the Internet included.

« Great value and location »

Clean, basic room. Windows open for fresh mountain air, ceiling fan, refrigerator. In room safe. Easy access to amphitheater for summer concerts, bike path to Frisco. Super breakfast. The only down would be that they had a cute patio but we couldn't access it because the door to it was permanantly shut. Great value and location.

    « Great location! Beware no A/C! »

This hotel is located in a great area. The hotel is right near Lake Dillon and there is even an outdoor amphitheatre that had a concert going on the Friday night we stayed there. The rooms are a bit outdated and simple, but very comfortable. The room did not have A/C, but did have a ceiling fan. It was a little warm early in the evening, but we just opened the balcony door that night to let the cool mountain air into the room with the draw from the ceiling fan. Not a bad experience at all.

Great place to stay run by great ladies. I especially love rooms 201 & 202 with their view of lake & mountains you can see from you comfy bed! It is pet friendly and has great trails and lake for family & dogs to enjoy.

« No AC. Beautiful area. »

We checked in for 2 nights the last of June. 90 degree day. When we got into the room there was no AC. It was so hot. So we checked right out. The service was great. The lady at the front desk was very nice and polite about the situation. We hated to leave because the view was so great. My kids were very upset. I would stay here if it had been any season but summer. The outside and inside halls are very dated but the room is up to date and cute. Again as long as you are fine with no AC then it's a cute hotel on the lake. Plus the prices are great for the location.

    « Beautiful! »

Most affordable, yet also very clean. Got treated to a free concert right out our window. Nice variety at the breakfast bar. Friendly staff. Close to all the cool places in Dillon. We'll definitely stay again when we're in the area.

    « Beautiful, Peaceful Setting »

We stayed 5 days here in June. This place is in a perfect location to enjoy the peaceful beauty of the Colorado Rockies. Stepping out our door in the morning, we were greeted with a stunning vista of Dillon Lake with the Mountains behind. The buildings are not new, but very well maintained, and updated. We had a King Suite, which featured a separate bedroom, living room, dining area with stove, fridge, and cupboards with complete set of dinnerware. The breakfast is very good. Hot scrambled eggs, sausage, wafflemakers, cereal, bagels, yogurt, milk, juices and coffee. The breakfast nook can get crowded, but we always found a table.

    « Enjoyed our stay »

We liked the ambiance of Dillon and its access to great bicycling. This property isn't new, but it's very pleasant, and the room had the plus of a very nice balcony. The breakfast was a squeak better than average but the breakfast room isn't quite large enough to accommodate the number of people at the hotel. Staff excellent. Great value for a summer stay.

    « Resort experience »

Located on a lake shore. Impeccable service. Great dining nearby. We've met people from all around the US and from other countries who agree with our assessment of this facility and staff. This is a resort experience at a motel price! The best value in the Best Western chain.

    « Lovely weekend! »

Great location right on the lake, near walking/bike path, Marina and restaurants. There are three buildings and although you may not see the lake from your room, there are tables, chairs and umbrellas with fantastic views. Breakfast was good and constantly stocked.

« Old Charm with Mountain Lake Views »

This hotel is dated but well maintained. Walls are thin...but it's great and we stay her at least 2 nights every year. Location is perfect... looks over Dillon Lake and flowers are amazing in July. Owner is always working around the property. The mountain breezes are great when you open the balcony doors and windows. Can walk to 2 good pubs and breakfast places. You can hike, bike, boat, walk around the lake path. Also, there is a great playground nearby. Love it here!!!!

« Stayed here multiple times »

We love staying here. Staff is friendly. Have only had trouble with a room once and they worked on fixing the problem. Great price for the area. Great rooms. Great breakfast - lots of choices, including hot items. Love the surroundings - right by Dillon Lake.

    « 100% Great Place & Location »

Consider looking out from your motel room balcony and seeing before you: Lake Dillon with sail boats & stand-up surf boards and foothills all green with trees & mountain meadows and very white snow-topped mountain peaks! Plus the motel is next to bike trails & walking paths & Lake Dillon Marina & places to eat and drink. Tip: Check out the Lake Dillon Theatre and their summer production schedule AND check out Georgetown & the Georgetown Railroad Loop trip AND gold mine tours.

    « Returned after 16 years »

My wife and I spent 3 wonderful nights at the Ptarmigan Lodge 16 years ago and when the opportunity came to stay again we were greeted at the front desk by a very nice guy that set us up for our stay this time around. The grounds are well kept and the view of Dillon Reservoir are spectacular! Our room was not facing the water but that did not detract from our enjoying our stay. The beds are somewhat firm for us since we are used to a sleep # at home but the ceiling fan was a nice feature. The breakfast was really nice! I hope it will not be another 16 years before we get to enjoy Dillon hospitality again!

    « Beautiful View »

We didn't know what to expect when I made the reservation, but it turned out to be the best choice I made. The hotel was a little rustic, but very confortible. It was the view that was fantastic. We over looked the lake with the snow capped mountains in the back ground. What a picture it made. We ate a home town restuarant next store to the hotel with excellent food. Over all great experience.

    « Beyond lovely »

We were exhausted from a two fold trip that included a daughter's wedding in Boulder and a hiking trip to Moab. Ptarmigan Lodge, right on Lake Dillon, was an oasis for our tired minds and bodies. The bed was heavenly, the shower in the morning was strong and steady to wake us up, and hot breakfast on the patio overlooking the lake with snow capped mountains in the backdrop were the finishing touches we needed to continue the last 600 miles of our journey home. Highly recommended.

« A Wonderful Rest on the Way to Vail Pass »

I stopped here halfway through my move from (relatively) flat Western Nebraska to Grand Junction, CO. My car had limped up the Rockies at 40 mph, and by the time I arrived I was exhausted and frazzled. The hotel was just across from the marina park, which was absolutely beautiful. As a bonus, the front desk staff who checked me in gave me tips for driving in the mountains, and put my mind at ease by assuring me that I only had one more pass to get through before the downhill remainder of my trip.

« Big bang for the buck »

Views, friendly staff, very clean and updated rooms, makes you feel like your second home. Close to biking trails, boating. concerts, fishing and other areas such as Breckenridge, Frisco, Silver Thorn, and great restaurants like Eric's down under, The Blue River Bistro and The Cantina and many More. The Owner are there to help you for what ever you may need. Give it a try and you will always want to go back.

    « Unexpected pleasure »

If you have the chance to book your stay at the Ptarmigan Lodge in Dillon, CO, do not hesitate! The location cannot be beat with views beyond stunning. It was especially nice because I was there off season and it was very quiet and restful. The staff were very kind and professional and the rooms were very clean. It is not super fancy but very nicely appointed and the property is kept very well. And they allow pets for a very low fee. I highly recommend staying at the Best Western Ptarmigan Lodge. It is also a great location during ski season because Keystone and A-Basin are a short drive away and Breckenridge is just the next exit on 70.

    « Best views! »

We arrived after a long day of driving, expecting a quick, ho hum overnight stay off the freeway. Boy were we wrong. The views from our room were spectacular! After walking our dogs along the shore of the reservoir, we decompressed with some wine on the patio outside the main building, and then had an excellent dinner at the Arapahoe Cafe next door (not affiliated with the hotel). The room was spacious, with a little kitchenette and an updated bathroom. Lots of grass to run the dogs. A great value for the money!

« An Excellent Place to Stay »

We have stayed here before (3 or 4 times), and it has always been clean, very comfortable and pleasant. The surrounding area is beautiful with Lake Dillon close enough to see and take a walk by. The staff is professional and helpful, and the hot breakfast was very good and satisfying. We especially liked the room we had with a King bed which was very comfortable. The room smelled clean and very fresh.

    « Pet friendly »

« Amazing Views, Beautiful Property »

Ptarmigan Lodge is perfectly situated for amazing views, convenient access to fun and flavorful dining, a few minutes away from world class skiing, and all the benefits of a perfect mountain getaway without having to deal with tourist traffic. The lodge is reminiscent of an old ski lodge of stripped pine logs. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are equally ideal for an extended stay or a stopover. I only stayed one night, wish it had been a week.

« Hands down the worst hotel stop on our trip, paper thin walls, hard beds »

This was absolutely a horrible nights stay for $100. We rented two rooms last minute on our way back home from a road trip to San Diego. So many things were just awful, the paper thin walls and doors were the worst part, we could hear people at night and in the morning, and my neighbors door opened and i thought someone had walked in. The thermostat is on a wall behind the TV, so you have to move the TV to turn the heat up, but it didn't seem to matter. Tiny toilets and shower, everything was clean, but the drain plug in the tub did not work. Also who has double beds anymore, which were just rock hard. We were hoping to get at least 6 hours sleep before restarting our road trip, I ended getting a broken 4 hours which was just awful. Bad stop, would not stay again for sure. Does have a pretty view, so that's about it.

« NIce Comfortable, Affordable, High-Value Place to Stay When Skiing »

I stayed at the Ptarmigan twice last week (the 1st week in April 2016) while skiing. As noted by others, Its location close to I-70 and Route 6 is convenient to many ski places including Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, Breckenridge, Copper, Loveland, and only about 30 minutes from Vail. It is also less than two hours from Denver Airport. I stayed in two different rooms in two different buildings (there are four separate buildings in total). Both were excellently maintained -- including the bathrooms -- and appeared to have been refreshed/renovated within the past few years. My first stay of 2 nights was in Building 4 in a room with a King bed which was clearly a newer building. The room was spacious and used a traditional rustic decor (lots of wood) that made it appear old but upon closer examination was clearly fairly recent. This room overlooked a nice courtyard between the buildings with Dillon Reservoir (Lake Dillon) in the distance. My second stay (1 night) was in Building 2 with two double beds. I specifically requested Building 2 because it is closest to the Hot Tub (see comment below) and Laundry room, and because it has a frontal view of Lake Dillon. The room was smaller and more basic, and was a little cramped with two double beds, but still nicely maintained. I was reasonably comfortable by myself, but two or more people would be on top of each other. The view to Lake Dillon from the room's picture window was mostly blocked by cars parking directly in front of their rooms at the same level, but walk outside just a few feet and the view was spectacular (see attached photo). At night both buildings/rooms was absolutely quiet -- always my number 1 priority. Contributing to that quiet was its convenient-yet-out-of-the-way location relative to the two large roads in the area -- I-70 and Route 6. For heating it uses circulating central hot-water -- the gold standard for quiet comfortable heating. The beds were comfortable, bathrooms clean, and the towels were large and soft in both the rooms and the Hot Tub / Spa area (not the small over-used scratchy towels at many places -- especially in the hot tub / spa area). The free breakfast was a full breakfast -- scrambled eggs and hard-boiled eggs, sausage patties, make-your-own waffles and pancakes, and a nice assortment of pastries, fruit, yogurt, juices, and cereal (plus coffee). During my week+ exploration of the area I stayed at three other locations. Only one of which offered anything for breakfast at all, and that was just a basic baked goods and cold cereal "Continental style". The convenience of having a real breakfast immediately available without any wait facilitated getting to the slopes earlier for better parking -- and added to the value of the room. Internet was free and fast with no noticeable delays when streaming music. They have a great indoor hot tub that can fit perhaps 12-14 people comfortably and also has a Sauna and shower. It was kept really hot and was terrifically relaxing after a hard day skiing. However, the one thing that wasn't great (as noted by others) was that the hot tub / sauna are in a separate part of building 2 that is an outdoor walk from all buildings -- with buildings 1 and 4 being the furthest. This walk was not pleasant when returning after a nice soak on a frigid evening and was a real deterrent. Next time I plan to bring a hooded sweat shirt and sweat pants (I've suggested to them that they offer a hooded terry robe as an optional convenience). However, don't let that deter you from staying. The tub itself is indoors (many are outdoors), and is more that offset by the value of a quiet comfortable room at a reasonable price with a free breakfast. I liked it so much that it was my go-to place for my last day before returning to Denver Airport to fly out the next day.

« Nice place to stay for skiing. Extremely well Managed »

Extremely well Managed Best Western. Have stayed here 3 times so far this winter. Easy access to Keystone (6 mi), Breckenridge (11 mi), Vail (30 min), Copper and Arapahoe Basin (about 20 min). Next to the (top rated) Arapahoe Cafe and Pub, local skier hangout in downstairs pub (great specials) and sit-down dinning upstairs. In a relaxed part of Nice location in Dillon up 6 towards Keystone. Little traffic and overlooks lake. Walk to 2+ places to eat. Next to lake with plowed walking paths. Rooms & bathrooms are large, a bit older but very well maintained, with a table and chairs, most have decks with views of mountains and/or lake. Nice full hot breakfast with many choices, staff keeps food well stocked, can go down early for coffee and rolls, read paper, use internet computer/printer, until hot food is served. Great staff!

    « Ski Trip 2016 »

Highly recommend this hotel. Somewhat rustic décor that fits the area well. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. Located above Lake Dillon it has very good views in some of the rooms, not so much in others but still nice. Walking distance to good food places.

An affordable hotel in the small town of Dillon. Just off I-70, it is a short 10 minute drive to Keystone and 20 minutes to Breckenridge. Nice hot tub ans sauna for apres ski. Includes a continental breakfast buffet each morning. Clean and quiet rooms within walking distance of shops, restaurants, and the free bus shuttles to ski resorts.

We have stayed at this Best Western many times when coming to the mountains to ski. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. Internet is fast and beds are very comfortable. They also have a great oversized hot tub for your post ski relaxation. Several restaurants in walking distance and on the free bus route for Summit County resorts

    « Great Value/Clean For a Winter (Ski) Stay »

Rustic winter setting, convenient to the Summit area resorts (Keystone, A-Basin, Breck, Copper, Vail). Spacious room (we had 3), neat and well-maintained. Extra blankets in dressers if needed, nice. Thermostat controls baseboard heat, no central air, but we had a remote-controlled ceiling fan, nice touch. Hot breakfast was excellent, though the seating area is small, plan well. There are 3 separate lodging structures, but all are close together and an easy walk to hot tub/office. Plus the hotel sits literally a stone's throw (1 min. walk) from the #1 rated Dillon restaurant, which we found a great plus. Ski lockers are exceptionally small, can only store 1-2 pcs. of equipment, but at least they offer them. Staff was friendly, helpful with a few minor requests. Hot tub was HOT, very fresh and clean, room for about 10 (which is used a lot in winter). Easy access on/off I-70 (about a mile off of it). All in all, can see why this is a top choice for a ski stay, relatively inexpensive and clean/well-run, which is for a 2-star pretty nice. Recommend it.

    « Would stay again »

We stayed 4 weeknights this past week in bldg. 4. Motel is slightly dated, but well maintained. Staff was very friendly. Rooms were clean. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was very good. Hot tub was great, after skiing all day. Convenient to Copper, Breckenridge, Keystone, and A-basin (and 35 min drive to Vail). Staff member recommended Arapahoe Steak House and Pub (next door), great food, but be there early (or you may have to wait). I was able to use the WIFI even during the evenings (can't say that about some hotels I've stayed at).

« Our go-to overnight for western dancing. »

My wife and I dance at the Silverthorne Pavilion in Silverthorne on the second Friday of each month during the winter. Dance is open to anyone: two-step, three-step, western swing, cowboy cha-cha, line dances, etc. (free lessons from Tex Degarie at 6:00pm to 7:00pm) Dance from 7:00 to 11:00. $5 per person. Anyway, dancing aside, we often stay the night in Silverthorne instead of trying to make our way home (1 and half hours) late at night. Our go-to hotel is the Best Western Ptarmigan Lodge. It is convenient, quiet, clean, and reasonably priced. Don't forget to ask for the AARP or AAA discount. I think because the hotel is housed in three separate, buildings, the noise level you often get at a hotel is greatly reduced. We always get a good night's sleep in warm, comfortable rooms with all the amenities you'd expect. The hotel sits a couple hundred yards (easy walking distance) away from Dillon Reservoir and provides easy access to restaurants, hiking paths, and other diversions. Check them out if you are heading to Silverthorne and need a nice place to stay. Oh, and come join us at the Silverthorne Pavilion for a little Electric Slide and Boot Scootin'.

    « Great value »

We loved staying here this year while we skied the area for 6 days. We have stayed in condos in Frisco in the past when we have done this kind of trip, but because there were only the 2 of us - no grown kids - we only needed a hotel room. I found this via Tripadvisor and wasn't disappointed. My husband called it the best hotel room we've ever had for skiing. We got one with a king sized bed and it was a very spacious room. It was well sound proofed from neighboring rooms and the hall. The bed was wonderfully comfortable. The hot tub was a short walk and the laundry room just past that. Breakfasts included eggs and sausage and waffles, substantial enough for skiers. It is in a beautiful location on the lake with views of the mountains. A couple of the top places to eat in Dillon are also an easy walk (one was the restaurant on the property). We will definitely stay there again next time we come to ski.

    4
« Good deals nice size room »

Got a Kitchenette unit. The price was great considering it is ski season. There were two double beds, a smaller refridge, and a full oven/stove. My room provided great post card views of the Lake and mountains. The hot tub is large and not crowded.

    « Conveniently Located »

This property is conveniently located right on Lake Dillon. They offer everything needed for a hassle free and reasonably priced accommodations in Summit County. The Arapahoe Steak House and Pub is right next to the property, and offers a great choice for dinning. The property offers easy access to all of the Summit County ski resorts. There's an enclosed hot tub and sauna facility to relax those muscles after a day on the slopes. If you not looking for a lot of frills and just want a good place to stay while skiing, you can't go wrong with the Ptarmigan Lodge.

    « Give it a 3.5 »

This is very dated motel that has been well taken care of. It is quite affordable. The floors creak and the room was a bit noisy, but the it is clean and well maintained and the location is in a relaxing part of town near the lake. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is convenient for any Summit County ski areas. The breakfast is standard BW fare--not bad. Make sure to eat at the Arapaho Cafe which shares a parking lot with the Ptarmigan Lodge--it is terrific. This one deserves a 3.5* rating but you can't do that with a 5* scale.

« Can walk to restaurants »

Stayed here while we skied at Copper Mountain, about 10 miles away. Really enjoyed not having to drive to restaurants after a long day - several were under a 5 minute walk from this hotel. Rooms were spacious and clean and while we didn't have the view of the lake, we enjoyed the mountain view from the balcony. Breakfast was adequate, restocked efficiently and offered plenty of choices. The breakfast room is small but no one lingers and tables become readily available. Looking forward to a return visit!

« Great Rooms and close to restaurants »

We stayed here for our last day of skiing. The hotel is amazing with ski lockers and a great room. Our room had a balcony and an amazing view. The breakfast was good but didn't have all the options we have seen at other Best Westerns. The other missing room item was a microwave which was also disappointing. We would definitely stay here again.

    « Practical for Breck »

I was looking at a place that didn't require all the flashy amenities. Best Western Ptarmigan is about a 20-25 minute drive to Breck. It's an easy, straightforward drive and very convenient. There's a hot tub that is very useful after a long day of riding. I went on a weekday so the hot tub wasn't packed. I'm not sure how it is on the weekends. Overall, if you're looking for a no frills place to stay that is close to the ski resorts, this is a good choice.

    « Snowboard week »

We stayed here hotel last week. The location is pefect. 6 miles to Keystone & 9 to Brech. The hotel itself is 4 buildings that are all easily walking distance to resturants, post office, ski rentals and laundromat. Lake Dillon is directly behind the facility. All Staff was courteous, helpful and friendly from the front desk to the cleaning service. We ended up adding a day to the beginning of our stay due to a major storm coming in and were worried would have trouble coming thru pass. I called ahead the operator was very nice added a day apologized because we would possibly have to switch rooms next day since would now have 2 seperate reservations (1 thru Expedia and 1 thru front desk). At chk in once again staff apologized for our possible inconvience but at 11am next day we walked to desk and were able to stay in same room. Facility was quiet even with it being full. There is a good sized hot tub room on site, we did not make use of this amenity but it looked nice and relatively unused. Our room was a good size, beds were comfortable, bathroom was very clean and our room had a small private deck. We had a great time and will definately stay here again. If you stay, Arapahoe Cafe, next door, has amazing ribs. Jersey Pizza, at light on right, we recommend trying the "Norm" pizza.

I really like the location of Ptarmigan lodge in Dillon, CO. It has great access to skiing. The walking trail and view of lake Dillon and surrounding mountains is gorgeous. We enjoy the breakfast and hot tub when we stay here.

« Good base for Colorado ski trip »

Nice big quiet, room, very clean, tons of hot water in shower, roomy bathroom, more than adequate hot breakfast with good coffee to start your day to access numerous ski areas, and at least 5 dinner spots within walking distance, and many more within a very short car drive. Staff is pleasant and this won't bust your budget. Try to get a room facing courtyard to avoid room near an ice machine.

« Inexpensive option in Dillon »

Stayed at the Ptarmigan for 3 nights. We got their kitchen suite. Large room and the bed was comfortable. A bit shabby and dated but good. Wi-fi would have to be manually signed into every time you left the hotel. Not difficult to do, but annoying if you forgot. Breakfast was okay, but the sausage was not overly warm. A lot of selection however. We enjoyed the hot tub and the sauna. Much quieter mid-week, the hotel was pretty busy Friday night. We'd go back, more for the area than this hotel.

    « Great location - very comfortable »

The hotel has easy access to highway 70 - they offer a great breakfast and have friendly staff - great value even though it is an older hotel - we would definitely stay there again. and there is a good variety of restaurants nearby.

« Beautiful views, close to food and shopping, reasonable price »

We used 2 rooms for a family of 6 with 2 children aged 4 and 6 and grandparents. Rooms were accessible by steps to second floor. There were ski lockers on the ground floor. Rooms were clean, had a refrigerator, table and chairs with a fan overhead. Wifi was free. The hot tub was huge, would accommodate 15 people. It was a short walk and inside with a steam room, bathroom and a place to change clothes. There were plenty of towels in the hot tub building. It was about 50 steps from our building. The free breakfast was just right, waffles and pancakes, cereal, scrambled eggs and sausage, and all kinds of fruit, hard cooked eggs, muffins, breads, juices. There was a highly rated BBQ place just a few steps from our building. Plenty of places to eat within a mile or so. We skied at Arapaho which was about a 30 minute or less drive. It would be accessible to Keystone as well. The views of mountains and the lake were photogenic. Only thing that was strange was that the room was about 80 degrees. We turned the thermometer down as low as it would go, and we had to open a window to bring the temperature down to comfortable sleeping. (And I am a freeze baby so if I thought it was too warm...it was) We were on the second floor, maybe heat rises. The price was right and the place was right. It took over 2.5 hours to drive from Dillon to a hotel near Denver airport, when we left the Arapaho ski area about 4pm. Traffic was very dense over the pass.

« Nice location in Dillon »

We stayed here for one night to extend our ski weekend. The staff was very nice and the room was clean and spacious. You are very close to the lake and there is a hot tub on property. We would stay here again! Things to know: rooms do not have AC, buildings are separate (we were in building 4), pets are allowed in specific rooms, not all rooms have a view of the lake.

    « Excellent Stay »

I was looking for a decent hotel in my price range and this seemed to be the only one. This hotel is older but well kept. Our room seemed to have been updated recently. It was very clean. The hot tub was excellent. It is in a separate building but was not an issue. The breakfast area was busy at 7:00 am but the food was good. I would stay again.

« Convenient Location - Very good value »

Not a lot to say about this hotel. It's a pretty standard budget hotel, but I'd say a step or two above a true "budget" hotel. The rooms are clean, you get free breakfast and WiFi. It's in a very convenient location for skiing at Keystone or Breckenridge. Our cost (after corporate discount) was just over $100/night for a weekend stay. For the location, this seemed very inexpensive, so I was worried about the condition of the hotel. Aside from a pretty underwhelming breakfast, the hotel is better than expected and a great value.

    « Once again - excellent stay »

I love the location of this lodge for proximity to the lake. The room exceeded my expectations. It was quiet, in excellent condition, and very VERY clean. The breakfast was good and extremely well kept, cleaned, and stocked. The front desk was above and beyond. I had wanted to add on a night when they were all booked up. They helped me snag the first cancellation and even worked it out to where I didn't need to change rooms.

    « January Stay »

We usually stay here when coming to the area. Quality of service is predictable and consistent. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean and functional. We've experienced no unpleasant surprises. We will be staying here again through the ski season.

    5
    « Very Welcome Stay »

We had a large room with a balcony. The room included a refrigerator, coffeemaker, iron, hairdryer, large closet area, and plenty of drawers. No microwave though. The bathroom was large and included a bathtub with shower. Everything was in excellent shape. The hot breakfast was average. Ski lockers for each room are located in entrance to the building. Note - we did have to go outside to get from our room to the main office and breakfast area.

« Love Staying on Lake Dillon »

If you intend skiing all the Colorado parts of the Epic Pass then staying around Frisco / Dillon is the best area to allow easy access to all the ski areas. We return to this hotel every year and we always get a warm welcome and a great room. For us it's just the best place to stay. Dave and Kat

« This may be our last year staying at Best Western Ptarmingan »

We loved its location, being close to the lake. This is our third year staying at Best Western Ptarmingan, about a week each time. However, our experience as I am writing this review is fairly disappointing. We will be looking for another hotel next year. To begin with, I was not given a key to the ski locker for my room when I checked in. When I called to ask for it shortly after I get into my room, the lady asked me to go to the office to pick up it, instead of having someone sending it over, if not right away maybe later. Then tonight I found out that the TV remove does not work properly (we can lower but not increase the volume). I called and the same lady told me to use the button on the tv, or go to the office to pick up the single universal remote they have. Then after 9pm local time, it felt like sauna in our room. It was hot when we got back around 5pm. So we kept lowering the temperature on the thermometer, but the room temperature kept going up (to about 75 Fahrenheit). So I called the office again, and the same lady told me (i) I can open the window; or (ii) borrow a fan. You probably guessed it - I need to go to the office to pick up the fan. Neither seemed a reasonable option in this day and age and I expressed that this is unacceptable. The lady said that someone would come over to check the thermometer. And someone came over, to drop off the fan and universal remote (seems like we would have to figure out how to program it). I fail to see how using the fan or keeping the window open is a solution to room temperature control failure. My impression is that the thermometer problem happened at least last year when we stayed here (in the same building a different room), and I believe I pointed out in the customer satisfaction review. I am positive but not sure that the tv remote did not work either last year or the year before. Just frustrated to deal with the problems and the lady's attitude after a full day of skiing.

    « Great Location & Great Price »

I had a wedding in Silverthorne and chose to stay at the Best Western Ptarmigan Lodge in Dillion. It was a great choice with an excellent location on the lake. The staff was very accommodating of an early check in to prepare for the wedding. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

    « Peaceful and pretty »

Loved the location; it is in a somewhat residential setting and right next to the reservoir. We had some beautiful sunsets! Note that there are not many rooms that face the water, however there are some. This Best Western is comprised of several different buildings; I don't think there were any that were more than two stories tall. We had a second floor room with a private balcony that faced the back. I think the rooms that faced the water had a shared balcony; It was very peaceful where we were located, even though our room was next to the stairway. No issues though. The buildings are small enough that there is not a lot of traffic even though the place was booked full during our entire stay. We had a great time. Stayed three nights and would stay there again, no problem. The desk staff was extremely helpful!!!! Can't praise them enough. Thanks guys.

« Great quiet place with excellent views »

We keep coming to this hotel as it's located at the quiet area right at the lake with breathtaking views and laid back atmosphere. We love the quietness of the central heating system delivering warmth with no noise. Great location and reasonable pricing makes this hotel a good value for someone looking for a break from business of modern life.

« Nice place for skiing at Keystone and Breck »

Stayed for several days of skiing at Keystone and Breck. Nice pub across parking lot, locals hangout pub down stairs, dinning room upstairs, great food and drink specials. 6 mi from Keystone, 11 mi from Breck. Lodge style buildings, about 12 units per building. Large tub in center building, short walk from room. Good breakfast in room overlooking the lake. Some units overlook lake.

    « Excellent Stay »

We stayed here for almost three weeks while skiing at Arapahoe Basin. This hotel was great for us. The breakfast was very good - eggs, toast, cereal, pancakes, juices, good coffee, and a variety of pastries. We found the staff to be very helpful and accommodating. The bus service to the hill is very convenient; across the street is a bus stop and you have to transfer at Keystone to get to Arapahoe - but the total travel time was 30 minutes. Next door is the Arapahoe Cafe with a downstairs bar. We ate at the bar many nights; each night is a special and we found the food to be excellent. We had burgers, tacos and other dishes and every time we found the food to be great for very reasonably prices. The next time we come, we will definitely stay at this Best Western again!

« Convenient, good value but buildings need improvement »

Convenient located along the lake, near to restaurants (one is next door) and easy access to main roads are the high points. Also the ladies at front desk are friendly and courteous. Caroline was helpful courteous and customer oriented. Helped me to get another room which meet better my preferences. Also checked the day after if everything was going well. As others mentioned it is a good value, well maintained and clean. Ski lockers at front hall are convenient as well. Heater system is old but efficient and works quietly. Negative: Buildings are old and very noisy (motel style), better insulation should be considered. Very tiny breakfast room and food just ordinary, reasonable for the value though. Housekeeping talk loud and one day they left our in room clock-radio on tuned in a Spanish station, on top of it messed with alarm clock which woke us up early in the morning. Sauna and hot tub are small. Hot tub water have a strong bleach smell.

« A great location, just minutes from the slopes »

We really like this location. The views are fantastic. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the sauna and hot tub area is spacious. We love the hot breakfast in the mornings and the easy access to the slopes, lake, and park area. --Allegra and Bryan C.

    « Summertime in Colorado »

We have stayed at this particular hotel several times in the summer. The location is great. Across the road from Lake Dillon and off the main drag, makes it a quiet and pleasant location. The hotel is an older property but appears to be well maintained. As others have mentioned, breakfast can be a challenge due to the small size of the dining area. The staff works hard at keeping the area well supplied so cut them some slack as they do their best. There is ample parking for the time of year that we stay there. Due to being in a ski area, I would imagine it would be very busy during the ski season. During the summer, concerts are held at the outdoor theater across the road which are an added attractions. Plus there is a walkway around the lake and sailboats sometime hold regattas which are nice to watch and make for a pleasant day. Check in and out is quick. The lobby is nice and the desk staff helpful. There are restaurants in the area. The restaurant next door does what looks like a lot of business and is handy if you don't wish to drive.

« Gorgeous Views, Nicely Updated »

Our stay was a last minute decision. We were *SHOCKED* to find such an affordable place with rooms available on Thanksgiving week. The place looks a bit old from the outside. The lobby is... "rustic." But the rooms were a nice surprise. Well appointed and comfortable. The balcony with lake views is really amazing. Breakfast: It's great that BW+ offers real breakfast foods, but the quality (microwaved eggs, flavorless sausage, rock-hard and dry biscuits) negates the benefit. The quality of the eggs, sausage, biscuits & gravy, etc., are *really* bad. I do like the waffles, so...

    « Dillon's hidden secret »

Great place for weekend warriors. Here is the routine. Beat the morning traffic Saturday morning at the but crack of dawn to enjoy a 90 minute commute from Denver and then just chill in summit county and have some breakfast. Then ski from frop drop until the crowd starts to bum you out. Go check in at the Ptarmigan and have a nice dip in the Hot tub. Go see a movie before Dinner and then treat yourself to a nice dinner (the Rib place right there in the parking lot has great ribs by the way). Get up early, have the free breakfast and hit the slope at rope drop again. Then hit the road by 1:00 pm and get back to Denver in less than 90 minutes.

Very good value for this area and great lake & mountains view! Building is older, however well maintained. Staff was friendly and courteous, well managed property. Stayed for vacation and would definitely stay at the Best Western again!

    « One night »

Great location and easy access to the resort and the walking around lake Dillon. Hotel is simple and maintained OK... Breakfast can be a challenge, not a lot of spaces and a staff that is very quickly overwhelmed when there is too many people. Good for a quick stay.

    « Great deal »

This is a Best Western and not a Four Seasons so let's be fair. However, I really like this hotel. The things I liked. Rooms very clean. Beds and pillows were comfortable. No loud heater fan blowing all night, quiet floor board heating. Great location on the lake, nice and quiet off of the main road. Staff was friendly. Great value. Things I did not like. Lack of pool. Breakfast was okay. Not terrible, not great. Really those are very insignificant complaints. Not only would I stay here again, I would try to find a reason to stay here again.

« Great Peaceful place to stay »

We have been staying at this Best Western for the past 15+ years for a week-end get-away from the hustle and bustle of Denver life and traffic. For the past several years we request and always get the same room, which has a great view of Lake Dillon and the beautiful snowcapped Rocky Mountains. The hotel staff treat you like family, the rooms are immaculate and up to date. Your morning is started with great coffee, and a great selection to eat for breakfast. It is just so quiet and peaceful with wonderful scenery everywhere. In the summer months the grounds are manicured with gorgeous flower boxes everywhere. Dinning is just a few steps away at the Arapahoe Cafe restaurant which also has a popular sports bar downstairs to the café, both have great meals. I consider the ribs the best in Colorado. Then the icing on the cake in the Silverthorne outlets just up the road. What more could you ask for.

    « A good value for a good location »

The town of Dillon Colorado is very convenient to the ski slopes of the Summit County. The Best Western is in a great location overlooking Lake Dillon.. In addition to easy access to the ski slopes it is convenient to shopping and dining both by car, bus or walking. Several of us from the Ski Camp stayed there and we all enjoyed our stay. The staff is informed and accommodating and the complimentary breakfast was excellent.

« Nice hotel, Beautiful view, great value »

The view out the front door of the hotel overlooking Dillon Lake was beautiful. The guestrooms are very nice at a great value. Very clean, nice room with a kitchenette and a small dining table was great for me and my three nephews. The breakfast was surprisingly good, well stocked, and very appealing. Will definitely return.

« Excellent Value but one Slight Negative »

My wife and I stayed here for one night on 2 separate occasions after arriving at Denver Intl Airport, and prior to leaving from the same airport 2 weeks later. Being the shoulder season we felt that the value was outstanding for a lovely room in a lovely location with excellent service and a decent breakfast. The bed was comfortable and the room was well equipped. However on our first visit it had been a very hot day for the time of year (I believe in the 80s F) and the room was hot and stuffy. There is a large and quite effective fan, but no air-conditioning, and it did not prove possible to reduce the temperature to the level we would have liked. On our return visit the weather was glorious, but there was now snow on the ground, and temperatures were much lower. In a different but equally good room we still had the same issue. The room was being heated, and stuffy, and we were unable to reduce the temperature sufficiently for our comfort. It is unfortunate that we have this criticism as in all other respects this was an excellent value, well-run, clean and welcoming establishment and I can well believe that this would be an outstanding choice when skiing the local ski fields and needing to be kept warm in the winter!

    « Clean and comfy »

Great views. Friendly staff. Clean! Comfy beds. Good continental, hot breakfast. All in all great place to stay and reasonable price. Close to the lake with scenic views. Best of all its within walking distance from the Arapahoe Café!!!

« Our Stay at The best Western Ptarmigan Lodge »

Our room was very comfortable and the room was easy to find. The weather was cold and snowy, but did not affect our ability to find our room. The staff was very helpful and considerate about telling us about the other locations in the vicinity we were interested to find.

    « Always Great! »

We've been to Dillon several times over the years and always stay here. Accommodations are great, room looked recently renovated, and they serve a great hot breakfast. Also it's so nice being right on the lake with plenty of hiking trails close by.

« Comfortable rooms in a beautiful setting »

The view of Lake Dillon from the hotel breakfast room, and from many parts of the property, is absolutely breathtaking. My room was very comfortable, complete with desk, table, refrigerator. I was there to kayak on the lake, and because it was October I had to drive to the marina in another town. But I wouldn't have wanted to stay anywhere else.

    « Excellent location »

This property sits above Dillon Lake and has spectacular mountain scenery on all sides. It is an older motel style property but has been maintained well, is extremely clean and the room was comfortable. The staff were helpful and friendly. The free breakfast was surprisingly good and offered a wide variety of food. For the price this was an excellent place to stay.

« Great Location Decent Room »

This was the first stop on our drive from Denver to a festival in Telluride. The front desk check-in was efficient and helpful when we asked to split the reservation and allow each of the two couples in our party to pay separately. The room was large, clean and comfortable. We were staying one night, but if you are a skier this seems like a great location and they have ski lockers outside of the rooms. The location right on Lake Dillon could not be more beautiful. Not many of the rooms actually face the lake so don't get your hopes up unless you specifically ask for a room with a view of the lake. Breakfast was plentiful, with a good variety and the breakfast room does have a view of the lake.

« Best Western Ptarmigan Lodge, Dillon, COLORADO »

Nice Hotel on HWY 70 when driving out to Utah. Beautiful lake next to the hotel was the best thing. We got in late, so didn't use much but the bed and shower. Nice tall shower for my husband. Had to carry suitcases upstairs to second floor which was not an issue for us but could be for some.

« What a terrific find!! We now have a reason to make a weekend out of the Dillon area »

We were on our way home for Las Vegas to Denver, and chose to spend another night in the mountains to see the changing of the leaves. TripAdvisor and AAA rated this motel well, so we booked it. WOW. It is right on Lake Dillon. Walking paths, a nice park for the kids, and the terrific breakfast all made this a great place to stop. We had 2 queen beds for under $100.00, not bad at all.

    « Great location! »

We've stayed at the Ptarmigan twice this summer, it has become our favorite place to stay in summit county. We travel with our dog, and it is very convenient to the lake, and trail for the 4 legged friends. It's an older motel, but is very well maintained. Both times the rooms have been very clean and appear to be recently renovated. It can get a little noisy on weekends. The second time we were in building one, with the nice porch outside our room. This was nice most of the time, except when a group was sitting outside our window smoking. We had to close our windows to avoid the second hand smoke. It would be nice if they made this a non smoking area.

« Nice Hotel By the Lake »

Very nice stay. It is an older hotel, but well kept up and very clean. There are 3 or 4 buildings and it is across the street from Lake Dillon. The lake has a paved trail around it (about 26 miles) where you can walk or ride bikes. Our room was downstairs next to the office and the room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. It has the sink outside of the bathroom. The room is self is average size, comfortable beds. Staff were pleasant and helpful. There is a small restaurant (can't remember the name) but it's in the same parking lot. The food was good. It's a small rustic place with lots of character, and a bar with eating downstairs too. I recommend getting there early since it is small and people were waiting when we left at 6:30. I would highly recommend this hotel and it was a good value (we stayed Sept 24th which is more off season)

    « Spectacular location! »

A very good choice whether for a week or just an overnight stay. Definitely has the feel of a lodge. The property is located next to Lake Dillon, a picture perfect spot in a beautiful mountain town. With several world class ski resorts nearby, and a gorgeous lake with walking trails, picnic areas, a running and biking path, etc., Dillon is a great spot in any season.
