Best Western The Dartmouth Hotel Golf & Spa

Lovely quite spot, very friendly and helpful staff, nice lounge and eating area and Lovely food. Nice pool / steam room / jacuzzi / sauna and gym in with the price. Plenty of parking and my wife said a lovely spa. We will be definitely going back again.

Went for the Dip n Dine deal £25, (this gets you £9 off your lunch order which will get you something on the sandwich or starter menu). Pool nice temperature but atheistically very tired, needs new tiles. Food- very good gluten free options which is rare, all very tasty, unfortunately had a hair in my pudding but the waiter rectified this promptly with a refund. Overall I think the place needs a facelift, it didn't give me the luxury feel but it wouldn't take too much to rectify this. I'd come back if it had a makeover.

Fantastic spa experience through a Groupon voucher great value and everything we needed. Staff were very welcoming and allowed us in at an earlier time. Bath robe and towel provided. Nice size pool with easy step access and warm at 30 degrees. Other facilities were sauna, steam room, cold shower, warm shower, jacuzzi and stunning woodland views. Cups no longer provided but better for environment and water is available with your own water bottle. Toilets were lovely and clean with lockers that worked £1 coin needed. The mud treatment was amazing you have your own space to self apply the beautiful scented mud. Each section is colour changing so orange is to apply. Red light is when the hot steam comes up with lights on the ceiling to help guide you and cold water taps if you need them. Blue light was to wash off using another beautiful scented Salt scrub. Skin is left feeling super soft and you are left feeling so relaxed. Two course lunch is provided with choice of non-alcoholic or glass of Prosecco. A good selection of starter, main and desert. Service was fantastic and food was delicious portion size very generous. The only reason why not a 5* would be the hotel needs a facelift, looking dated. But already looking forward to returning.

First spa trip taking my stepdaughter along. Staff were friendly, and some aspects of the hotel were nice. However came away disappointed - 1) bedroom basic (rm 301), curtains are velcros onto the window and didn't meet in the middle and corner of curtain broken so we had gaps where the morning sun came through. Mould on bathroom ceiling. 2)restaurant menus advertised falsely on website, disappointed there was no takeaway menu, or bistro menu as downloaded prior to visit. 3) restaurant - 1st night our side was forgotten, and I had to send back my brick of a sponge (been overcooked, and had gone chewy and hard). 2nd night, I asked for cheese in my burger and ended up with cheese on my chips too (maybe a bonus for me as a cheese lover) 4) breakfast - fry up- mushrooms were gritty, like sand. It put me off the rest of the hot breakfast and avoided following morning. 5) spa - nice, but the hair all over the floor was a massive put off. The treatment area, was super. I didn't complain, because the staff were great, and hopefully my review may help to make this hotel a better place.

Nice hotel, great staff and ideal location. Not a golfer but easy base to visit local attractions. Spa, pool and gym recommended. Room has huge walk in shower and told this is being installed in all rooms. Plenty of hanging and storage space. King size confortable bed. Will probably book again, just a bit of a distance from where we live. If you have the choice dont have room 101 (dont worry you will get out again) as we always like window open and this room is close to what I think must be fridge or chiller motors for kitchen. Not rediculously noisy but just enough to be annoying if you have good hearing A few little niggles. No bottled water in room and not prepared to drink water from the bathroom tap. Coffee at breakfast was appalling, very weak. Only way to get a strong coffee was to put 3 espressos in cup and top up with water. Could not tell if it was poor fresh beans used, not enough ground coffee or perhaps the temperature of the water. No lights in either upper or lower car parks, installed but not turned on so not easy to find your way from car to hotel.

Fantastic hotel friendly and very helpful staff rooms were clean massive bed which we loved had a lovely mud bath and massage which were amazing would definitely book again highly recommend for a relaxing weekend and dartmouth is a very pretty place

My Daughter and I had a lovely lunch today, a big thank you to the restaurant staff who looked after us so well. Then onto the spa. I can't recommend the mud treatment enough, my skin felt amazing afterwards. They also have a pool, Jacquzi, steam room and sauna which is all available to spa users.

Used Groupon voucher, paid extra and had a wonderful relaxing massage from Victoria. Didn't use the pool as my friend and I enjoyed relaxing in the spa room after the massage. Had a very tasty 2 course lunch overlooking part of the golf course.

This Best Western was perfect for our stay – the weather was not good and so we enjoyed the swimming pool and the other facilities. The breakfast – in an attractive and airy room with views – was composed of delicious ingredients. There was a wide choice of both cold and hot breakfast. Everything was fresh tasting and appetising. The room was spacious and had lovely views. We look forward to returning to Best Western Dartmouth soon as we found the hotel, the surrounding countryside and the town of Dartmouth very attractive.

We booked just one night so we could do a section of the coast path one day and visit Dartmouth the next. Hotel room was cosy and clean although bathroom a little tired. Spa and pool area needs an update but a nice extra in the price. Breakfast was fine, self service buffet including hot items. Staff friendly and welcoming. Overall good value for money.

Pool / Spa was very dated and lacking quality seen in most Spas. Friendly staff and food was nice, although selection limited. No aircon in room which meant had to open window, and although nice fresh air the country woke us up early when sun came up.

Spa experience was great, my therapist was Victoria, really considerate and a great massage. Afterwards she gave me details of the products she had used and gave me advice on what she found. Pool, facilities and sauna were also great. Reception team were really friendly and helpful. Thank you, we loved it xxxx

We booked a ‘dip and dine' spa session which was from 10am until 2pm, including spa facilities (pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room) as well as £9 each to spend on food in the restaurant. We were able to use this voucher on the large/main food menu, which included lots of options. Our lunch was originally booked for earlier but spa staff were able to change this for us to accommodate us spending more time in the facilities. The staff were friendly. Restaurant was in need of an update, we felt. Spiders webs and mould on windows/doors, tables were incredibly sticky which put me off that the cutlery was laid right in top of it. Food took quite a while to come out. The spa facilities could do with updating/cleaning. Windows and tiles were dirty, changing rooms were dusty, and there was hair all over the side of the pool. Despite signs saying children must vacate by 10:30am, this did not appear to be adhered to. As well as ‘no food or drink by poolside'. There was a group who brought their own shopping bag full of food and drink, including alcoholic drinks (which was obvious by the way the intoxicated group were behaving), observed by spa staff but were not challenged on this which made it not a very relaxing time! On our booking confirmation, we were told to bring £1 for the lockers. However, none were available in the female changing rooms so I did have to put my belongings in with my boyfriend's. Overall, it was pleasant but I wouldn't visit again.

My spa experience was out of this world the therapists are so kind and welcoming. I had a couple of treatments, but by far my 60mins with Victoria were sensational, never have I had such a fantastic, professional and so beneficial experience. The spa treatment I received was amazing. The therapist I had was incredible, she made me feel completely at ease and went above and beyond to give me the best experience I could have wanted. Lovely calming environment that made it even better.

Fantastic Spa Day Treatment by Victoria. My friend and I booked in to a day of pampering and lunch. Our arrival could have been friendlier and more informative however the treatment I received from Victoria was one of the best ever. She was attentive, calm and made me feel very relaxed. She used products that suited my skin perfectly after an indepth consultation (it still feels wonderful) I upgraded by £8 for hot stones (friend wasn't offered this) Lunch staff were great and food well prepped and beautifully presented ( a few more mains would be good as I struggled to find something out of just 3 choices) Out look for dining area lovely and great to see white table clothes for dining. The pool area was good with sauna jacuzzi and pool with free robe and towels as part of the package . So many positives! Negatives- soft music playing around the pool would have been nice, pool tiles need a deep clean to the jacuzzi side and info at the time of booking to bring a pound for the lockers and own drink container helpful. A smiles from the welcome lady on arrival a MUST as it could have started our day better. Looking forward to returning next month for a facial and stone back massage with Victoria.

The most wonderful spa treatment. We had the Razul mud treatment, which leaves your skin feeling silky smooth and an all over feeling of relaxation. I feel like I've had a full body massage, it was the most relaxing spa treatment ever. Highly recommend, and the staff are lovely too.

All round excellent value for money for a golf society weekend. Staff were terrific. Food was excellent. Course didn't disappoint. Need a few more buggies as its a long walk but rewarding round on a challenging championship course.

The hotel is well managed and comfortable and makes a good base to explore the beautiful countrysie of south Devon (apparently you can play golf here as well!). The staff were all friendly and helpful. Dartmouth has several places to eat out if you want a change from the restaurant. You should check to see if there is a folding seat in the shower, if you need one.

Having read the good reviews we thought we would try a couple of nights. I would agree the staff are really excellent and friendly and the food was good, those are the good points. The room ( 213) was most disappointing. Our bathroom had mould in several places and the wiring from the wall to the hot towel rail I would call most dangerous if you have young children. Also the wiring to the TV from the plug and TV wall connector was dangling over the radiator, again not good for children. The duvets on the single beds were only just wide enough , a rather large person would have a problem with the size. So overall most disappointing. I discussed the room items with the front desk and they said the rooms are due for a revamp in a couple of months but in the meantime as regular visitors to Dartmouth we will not use again. I also reported this on the Best Western online questionnaire which followed our visit.

Great location, close to Dartmouth and surrounding areas. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast with plenty of choice for both meat eaters and vegetarians. Room spacious and good amenities. Would definitely stay here again if in the area. Free parking close to Hotel a bonus.

Treated ourselves to a local hotel for our 10th wedding anniversary. We were looking forward to the "spa hotel" but left fairly disappointed with the room. The room was tired, and whilst not dirty, it certainly wasn't clean. The curtains were mildewy, the lampshades stained with watermarks and wonky, the shower again mildewy, mirrors streaked etc. Again, not dirty but just disappointing. Thankfully the pool and spa were nice, and staff a saving grace. Breakfast was mediocre.

+ve Location, location, location! Both the immediate environment and as a base to explore South Devon. Pleasant, helpful and hard working staff. Full English breakfast very good. -ve In urgent need of refurbishment both inside and outside. Very poor standard of room furnishing. Our room was actually dangerous with its sloping roof where the one dilapidated couch was placed. No Continental breakfast buffet offered. This is a mediocre Golf Club House with male orientated bedrooms attached plus a Spa. It is clearly a very popular venue for golfers the car park was nearly full each of the four days we were there. Maybe the management are happy with the revenue and profit generated and feel no need to try better. But there is tremendous potential for a better presented hotel facility. Reference - of the four mini breaks we have taken this year three were at Golf and spa hotels, we are not golfers. One, a Best Western franchised hotel near Worcester which was excellent.

I would recommend this as a really lovely indulgent day at a very reasonable price. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Lunch was lovely overlooking the golf course, but the real treat was the facial and massage, absolutely restful and soothing given by a delightful lady. My only suggestion is that more beds are definitely needed in the pool area

Frankly, you will struggle to find better value in the UK to spend a magical few days away from the “hubbub”! The quality of the spa and in particular the outstanding service and treatments received by Trippy and her colleagues is world-class. But what struck me too was the beautiful “can do” attitude demonstrated by all from the spa manager to the wonderful Lisa who was on the Spa reception. From the moment of your arrival to your departure the experience is very much home from home; absent the fabulous no mobile phone network coverage (but fabulous wi-Fi coverage) which truly ensures you are ensconced and feel cocooned in some of the most glorious countryside redolent of the best the UK has to offer! The serving staff in both the bar and restaurants were also all excellent and couldn't do enough to help. By far the best spa break in the UK in terms of real value for money!

Stayed here for 3 nights as a base to explore Dartmouth and the surrounding area. Fabulous quiet location with great views of the countryside across the golf course. Our rooms were very clean and comfortable with modern en-suites. It's worth noting that rooms aren't serviced daily unless specifically requested. We visited the swimming pool once and the changing rooms and pool area was lovely and clean with towels provided (you do need a £1 coin for the lockers but the coin is returned). Food in restaurant is basic but tasty, breakfast is especially good. Lovely outdoor terrace adjoining bar with views of the golf course which was particularly enjoyable in the warm weather. Staff were friendly and helpful although seemed stretched at busy periods.

Good location and some nice facilities but stay was a bit overpriced for the experience. Rooms were a bit musty and unkempt. Food was also a bit pricey - it was fine but things missing from breakfast buffet and many mistakes made in our dinner order. We paid more than our usual budget hotels and probably received slightly poorer experience.

This hotel is unfortunately very average and it's not due to the staff or service, it's due to the very dated buildings and rooms. The Great Western group desperately need to give this outpost of theirs some love and upgrade many of the facilities if they want to compete with other hotels in the south west. When we arrived my first impression was disappointment at the front of the building as I could tell it wasn't a high standard hotel. It looks like a golf clubhouse from the 1980's! However, the gentleman on reception was very friendly and enthusiastic telling us all about the facilities, times for the restaurant, swimming pool etc. He also told us about their staff incentive programme which seemed great (you receive a gold coin that you can give to the staff member you feel goes over and above/ helps you & they get a reward) and we did find the staff very helpful and engaged. In fact I would call out - SUSAN who was the restaurant manager as being very welcoming and helpful and also NIKKI in the spa area who was very kind to my daughter and I. We gave Nikki our gold coin as she really helped us out by finding shampoo and conditioner as we'd forgotten ours (as we were expecting the hotel to have minatures or a tie up with a local wellness brand - which they DON'T!). The family hotel room we had booked had a view of the golf course and the grounds are impressive and very tranquil. We even heard an owl right outside our window at dusk which my daughter loved hearing, so you are surrounded by nature and it's very peaceful. But the room was nothing special - it was like a Premier Inn bedroom in my view, but had cost 3 times their prices! The beds were clean and comfortable but the duvets were way too thick for summer. The accessories and the bathroom were dated (eg: decorative cushions on the bed and the curtains were a dark old-fashioned pattern that looked like something my grandma would have in her house, not a modern hotel). I am also very surprised that they pitch themselves as a 'Spa Hotel' as there was a tiny pool area with a jacquzzi and sauna/ steam room. Not much space to sit around, although there were a few loungers. But I'd be very disapointed if I'd booked a spa here (& I do go on them fairly regularly so have visited quite a few) as it wasn't luxurious. I cannot comment on the spa treatments as I didn't have one. We had a nice time in the pool as a family but the slots you are allowed in the pool are limited, due to spa guests having priority. I also can't comment on the golf as we didn't use those facilities, but the grounds looked amazing. We ate dinner at the hotel as it's not close enough to Dartmouth to just 'pop' back for dinner. However, I found this food disapointing and quite bland. My husband's portion was very small for the price he felt (Portugese hanging chicken). We didn't stay in the bar as it had no atmosphere - it felt like an airport waiting room. But I would reiterate that all the staff were friendly and helpful in the bar and restaurant area. I really think the team here are being let down by a dated building and it's such a shame that it's not nicer/ more upmarket as it's in a lovely area and I'm sure they'd get far more business if it had an interiors overhaul. But currently they seem happy just to target day time golfers in the dated bar and golf shop!

Great experience! Went on a golf trip for 1 night and had a fantastic time! Played the championship course twice very tough but well maintained! Food was delicious only reason I can't give five stars was the pool table, it was in very poor condition and only one cue with a broken tip sounds petty but was looking forward to some pool. Would recommended and stay again though.

I have such mixed reviews on this hotel. My husband booked it as a night away for my 40th birthday as part of a week of celebrations. We went as a couple. Positives Treatments were amazing Staff were really friendly Dinner was beautiful Location is beautiful Negatives The hotel is filthy - main area, our bedroom and the pool It is unloved and needs a lot of work doing The bed was really really hard Loads of wasps in the main restaurant area Breakfast was average I had a lovely time due to the effort my husband had made and the treatments. I felt sad for him because he was so disappointed with the low standard of hotel. We wouldn't recommend this hotel in its current state.

My wife booked this surprise break at the Hotel with a deal including use of the pool and gym, a three course evening meal and spa treatments following day. Journey down was easy, great access, plenty of parking. Classic country style buildings, a bit dated in appearance, but all clean and functional, very friendly staff. Not a golfer, but the course looked very well managed and challenging with the terrain. Nice area to grab a coffee or a beer in the bar with open air seating too on the decking. Room was clean and had tea making facility, TV, a recently refurbed bathroom and a view of the course. Evening meal was enjoyable in the clean restaurant area, staff were friendly and courteous. Had a good, quiet night sleep in our double room. Morning brekky, fabulous buffet hot breafast, self service. All cooked nicely, not overdone. Visited the well presented spa centre (pool, jacuzzi, gym and spa). Wife had a facial and relaxation, I had an enjoyable back massage from Michelle. We stayed for a two night, three day golf trip. I have to say that after reading previous Trip Advisor reviews we were a little concerned over about how clean the rooms would be. But, everything was spotlessly clean and we couldn't have asked for more attentive & helpful staff.

I was booked both a facial and a massage for my birthday and had the best experience here. Evie my therapist was so lovely and reassuring. She explained carefully the products she was using and which were best for my skin type. All other employees were kind and made sure we had everything we needed. Full use of the brilliant facilities and access to a delicious 3 course lunch in the restaurant. I couldn't recommend this place enough, 10/10 experience.

Stayed one night using the Hotel as base for Dartmouth visit. Location was excellent for this being only a couple of miles from Dartmouth park and ride. The Hotel is obviously a very active Golf Club and while I am not a "golfist" we enjoyed the quiet setting in lovely grounds. The room we had was clean, quiet and comfortable. We used the hotel pool which was a good size. The staff were all friendly, welcoming and helpful. The evening meal was good if not excellent but no real complaints and all in all we had a really enjoyable stay. The only real negative for me was that I found the bed too hard. Overall I thought it was good value for money.

Gone downhill. Been going here for the last 10 years for spa days and overnight stays and the last 2 it has gone down terribly. The last 2 times we have returned food back to the restaurant and the excuse was the Chef was in a meeting so someone else was cooking!?!? Should they be cooking if they clearly can't?? The spa itself, no cups to get water (you have to walk out to the reception to get these), the treatments not as good as they used to be, my daughter and I had the same treatment booked but one of us got an Indian head and neck massage included whilst the other one didn't. One spa staff member clearly needed to shower as her odour was extremely off putting whilst she was sat on the stool!! Last time we went down even though we had received email confirmation of treatments, we hadn't been booked in so a wasted trip. What has happened to this place, a total disappointment and won't be returning 4/6 times a year anymore if at all

We used the hotel as a base to explore the surrounding area over a long weekend. We had lunch and evening meals out of the hotel and didn't use the spa or golf so can't comment on that. We stayed in a suite. We found the room very tired with dated furniture and the bathroom was both dated and a bit grubby. The toilet was black below the water line and could do with a freshen up and refurbishment as could the whole room. The living area of the suite was bare, stark and uninviting. The room had clearly not been vacuumed well after the previous guests as we found confetti and hair bands in the carpet. The complimentary soap, shampoo and shower gel dispensers were almost empty on arrival and not topped up during our two night stay. Finding a did guarded Stanley knife resting on to of the bedroom mirror was a surprise and again questions the thoroughness of the room clean. The outside terrace is a good addition to the bar area however at least one member of the bar staff appeared curt and rude to a fellow guest who chose to order a glass or Rose. Some lessons on customer service needed there. Breakfast was good and it was nice to see the bacon fried unlike most hotels where it seems soggy and microwaved. In summary - it is a great location and lovely and peaceful. The hotel needs refreshing and the rooms need upgrading.

The spa is dated and in need of some attention but the mud treatment was great fun and the gentleman on reception was very friendly and helpful. The room had recently been decorated and the smell of paint was quite overwhelming but the new bathroom was fabulous, and the shower was great. At dinner Mathew was very knowledgeable about the menu and made good wine recommendations. Had an issue with the hair dryer not working in the room and the girl on reception (sorry I didnt get your name) went out of her way to resolve the issue. Thank you. Xx

Beautiful Hotel , room was amazing , clean warm and very comfortable and spacious , the spa was lovely and the mud treatment a great experience - the blonde lady on Reception was very welcoming and friendly, the grounds were immaculate The food was absolutely divine , we opted for the hanging kebab and catch of the day both were delicious and a big thank you to Christopher in the restaurant who was polite professional and funny - would recommend to anyone looking for a fab spa experience

A very good stay to celebrate my friends birthday. Clean room although beds too firm, great food, we had a 3 course main meal and breakfast, all very good. The spa was fun and relaxing and the massage sublime. Very good value

Visited this hotel with high hopes and were disappointed. Paid for a package 2 night weekend, and was put into an outdated room, picture frames were damaged, stains on bed, no conditioner, mirror was filthy and overall shabby room. Put sign outside door to clean room which didn't happen. We were suppose to receive a welcome drink which never happened. Spa facilities were nice but jacuzzi cold and women's shower out of order. Breakfast was good and the evening meal was nice, however nothing special. Overall disappointed with the stay and for the money paid, wouldn't recommend to others. However, staff and receptionist were nice.

Booked for our wedding anniversary treat. Very helpful and friendly staff at reception. Room and bathroom - clean and tidy. Sauna,pool and jacuzzi area, extremely clean and tidy, very helpful staff. Evening meal and breakfast- good menu and choice options, lovely food and friendly approachable staff. I had read some reviews after booking which were not positive and expected the worst, however this was not the case in our experience. Thank you to the Dartmouth Golf and Spa team for making our weekend lovely, we will be returning.

Booked this 2 day break with my friend and we have had the most wonderful time. Included in the deal was a Rasul mud experience and we also had a massage and facial. All the treatments were brilliant. We also used the swimming pool and jacuzzi which were lovely Our room overlooked the golf course which was lovely. All the staff that we encountered during our stay were so helpful and pleasant and nothing was to much trouble for them. We had breakfast and evening meal there and the food was wonderful. We can't wait to go back

It's a perfectly acceptable Best Western with friendly staff but to call it a ' Spa' in the description and to advertise on spa breaks websites is really misleading. The facilities are on a par with my well equipped but slightly tired local council leisure centre with the only thing vaguely spa like about the place is the fact that it has a couple of treatment rooms. If you think that you've stumbled across some amazing spa experience deal, you haven't.

Saw a Wowcher overnight stay, spa treatment, evening meal & breakfast for cheap so called the hotel as we would have our small dog with us, and it wasn't clear on Wowcher if that was okay. Was told it was, and as we take her everywhere with us asked the usual things that are important which essentially is can she come into bar and/or restaurant with us to eat and drink and was told yes, but we'd have to leave her in the room for the duration of the spa treatment which was totally understandable, so we booked it. Arrived and me, my wife and the dog went to the bar to drink and eat at 7pm to be told no dogs allowed in that entire area. Told the bar manager we had called and discussed this beforehand, as the Best Western website advises you to do (the website that says they love dogs, you can take them in your room, restaurant and the staff might even give them treats) and was told there was no way we would of been told that. So I'm a liar. Was then told she'd be fine in the room as they put dog beds and food/water bowls in there but that was news to us and hadn't happened. Off he went to reception again to be told it had been forgotten and was being done shortly, so we could eat with the dog in the small, dingy pool room off the bar and away from the nice dining area and away from other guests and that the doors into it would be closed after us so we were totally shut away from everybody else in a dingy room with a pool table and old bar furniture. Was also told to make sure our dog doesn't mess in the room, as if she isn't house trained and as if we needed to be told that. So we ate our dinner, which was fine, and was back in our room by 8.30pm as we couldn't go anywhere else unless we put our dog in our room and left her there. Totally get if a hotel or any business doesn't want dogs in their establishments, that's their choice and get some people don't like dogs and want to stay in such dog free places, we would know that and book elsewhere, but if you say you do like dogs and want them to visit the 100 Best Western hotels in the UK that “love” dogs, then do it and don't treat dogs and dog owners like leppers. They didn't even have a water bowl for her in our pool room, a Tupperware box was got from the kitchen to cover that and they guy went out of his way to tell us it was because it was disposable as any other solid container would be unhygienic to re-use. So you chuck away metal dog bowls after every dog has drunk from them? All those dogs you love visiting? Hotel is fine, food was fine but this totally ruined our stay. 100% wish we hadn't come, we live an hour away and was considering taking the financial hit and driving home as we can't enjoy a leisurely breakfast either as our dog will be shut in our room, which is a new place to her and will make her nervous. Best Western will probably be very happy to hear we won't be visiting any of their hotels again, with or without a pet.

Overall excellent, beautiful grounds, spa, sauna, steam room, indoor pool, very comfortable lounge bar, plenty of parking, impressive gated entrance, friendly and helpful staff, overhead opening window in the bathroom.

Booked here for carvery but disappointed as pricing was not as advertised. Food cold and served by very disinterested chef. No wonder only 6 people there. Had to be sent back for microwaving to enable us to eat.

Family gathering, children, dogs, and very noisy adults!! The staff were amazing, we were given a private room, which was so comfortable. Service good , food great, beakfast delicious, bedroom clean and a good size, lovely hot shower. A great place to go with the family.

So on the whole it all needs a little tlc. There was 3 of us my daughter, granddaughter and myself for a spa night away, The room was very basic but the bathroom only had a skyline window for ventilation and being as though it was lashing it down could not open that, NO other form of ventilation at all so after the 3 of us having a shower the entire room including the bathroom floor was wet thought out our stay, plus 1 wash does everything, Really should rethink this one. The spa well where the jacuzzi is in the photo looks lovely and tiled? NO its covered in a big blue plastic thing, The pool was warm but honestly the changing rooms are dirty yes dirty there was hair and bits all over the floor, one of the showers was so full of hair it wasn't useable and this wasn't just me saying other people said the same it was grimy no nice smelling aromas nothing, this place is not a spa. I have given an honest opinion of our stay i asked the 2 other family members to have an input and this is the conclusion we came to. We are not snobs nor fussy we just like nice, clean and fresh but yes some investment would help. On a plus side the breakfast was one of the best we have had 10/10.

Very satisfied with the excellent service from start of our Group booking right through to our Departure. Rooms we're of very good standard as we're Dining facilities. The Course was in very good condition despite a lot of recent rain & is an enjoyable challenge for golfers of all standards. I'd recommend hiring a buggy though

Visited this hotel with high hopes and were disappointed. For our room being over £100 a night, we had a room that had not been renovated in years. Very old. It was dirty including cracked floors, cobwebs everywhere, mould on the bathroom ceiling and the blinds were falling off the wall held up by Velcro and staples… no hair conditioner. Just an all in one “hand body and hair” wash. Plus no one answers the phone when you ring. I've had much better quality from a premier inn. Wouldn't stay again.

Terrible experience! Should have realised when the hotel sent an email saying that the restaurant and bar was going to be closed and moved upstairs during our stay. Only notified a day before we were arriving. Restaurant staff very negative, warm beer on the first night. Extraction in the room not working so this may have well been the reason for the damp feel and dank smell. First morning told there would be no hot food as they had had a power problem. So, no breakfast! Woke up on second morning to no hot water, therefore unable to Shower/Wash/Shave or even flush the toilet!!!

I have stayed here many times and am never disappointed the staff are lovely nothing is too much trouble food amazing . A lovely place to chill at any time of the year .. We have celebrated special birthdays has Spa weekends and are never disappointed .

A few of us booked this trip back near Christmas. It was a great break of good food laughter and golf. The hotel is great and the service is fantastic. Value for money is exceptional and we the best time even tho it was a tad wet. It's our second time here and I will definitely be heading back again.

We are just come back from this hotel. Worst experience and we are very dissappointed. Me and my husband visited many hotel across the world, this hotel one of the worst we been visited recently. I am a easy going person and never give bad reviews before, however this hotel made bad effect on our holiday. I chosen this hotel because of the spa, after a busy hiking day would be nice relaxing in the spa. However, what we experienced in the spa was a joke and very disappointing. It is very dated , inside the pool there was big fat black mark iabove the water everywhere. Look at the pictures I put on what is the reality, as what the hotel put on pictures is not real. In the pool area lot of crack around the jacuzzi and the dirty marks inside the main pool was very dissappointing. Steam room was not working and we was stayed for three nights, and was still not repaired. Jacuzzi was a joke, just very light bubbles. Sauna was ok and the Gym was in good condition. Food was normal, some of the staff was not looked welcoming, the receptionist was very friendly. Golf area was well maintained. This hotel in current state only 1 star, not worth for the money. Luckily the weather was great and we was outside all day, which was outstanding, however we could not enjoy the spa abd the hotel when we back which was very dissappointing. We never going back again. Dartmouth and Dartmoor National Park highly recommended, must visit, but do not stay in this hotel.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY Stayed in this hotel recently. Having visited over 100 hotels across the world, I can name this hotel one of the worst. Very basis facilities. I was expecting slightly more for the price we've paid. Staff not very welcoming. They might have over-worked but it's non of the guests faults. In general not a hotel you should stay if you have kids especially young kids.

for the price the hotel is reasonable. rooms were very hot at night, we could hear the baby/child crying in the next room. still not doing daily room servicing due to Covid unless you go to reception and ask each day

I found the hotel very basic in every area and the price did not reflect this as it was very expensive. There were a number of features I found very poor no mat in bath or handrail to stop falling. The sink plug was missing and had been replaced with intirley the wrong thing. This was far worse than any 1 star hotel would not recommend it.

I stayed with my son for five nights and the hotel made our holiday. It's a very nice venue and great for golf if you play which we do. The food was good and it was great value for money. It's also a good venue for traveling around eg Dartmouth and other parts of Devon.

Had a terrible experience and would NOT recommend. Despite having a confirmed booking, i got there in the middle of the night to be told someone marked my reservation as for the day after and there are no rooms available for me. Then i was told, wait, there is a room, and was given the key; I get to that room, try the key and a man opens the door! At 2am! Then the receptionist finally tells me they have another room that is marked as out of service because it needs maintenance, as it is damp and smelly but i can stay there until the morning. The place is in the middle of nowhere, i was told that if i wanted a refund i need to come back in the morning...that would have been a half hr drive at least each way, for a mistake that is not mine.... Following day, another receptionist apologises for the experience and says he would speak to his manager to get a refund approved. A few hours later i get an email saying the room i stayed in was fine and that no refund will be issues. I call the hotel frustrated and the manager (?) shouts at me! it has simply been horrible.....PLUS the steam room is decommissioned for good, so yet another piece of misleading information. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

The cottages at the best western hotel are very nice , quality beds , furniture, and kitchen equipment, very comfortable. The hotel it's self has become very tired , bar area, and furniture could do with refurbishment Golf course excellent, although one of the staff could have been a little more helpful, told us what we couldn't do , not what we could, we were told couldn't go off earlier as there was 4 groups in front of us , never saw anybody on front 9 in front of us ??? Overall cottages a nice place to stay ,

I came here for work, not golf, but nonetheless the hotel is great. The surroundings are lush and peaceful, restaraunt spacious and bright with friendly staff and a good menu including lots of gluten free choice. Hotel users get free use of the pool, which is actually deep enough to swim in (a pleasant surprise for hotels) and the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room - pool facilities close at 2000hrs. Bedroom is nice and roomy and I'm looking forward to a decent nights kip in the quiet countryside.

We visited to play golf. The course is a great challenge and well maintained. The greens were good and true. The bunkers have minimal sand, so don't go in them. The staff were amazing, all very willing to help. The food was up to scratch too. So why only 4 stars? The accommodation! None of us had a perfect room.. In my room the TV had intermittent reception. The paint on the wall was peeling. The bathroom had cracked tiles and a tile that rattled and wobbled. When using the shower the water stayed in the bath and slowly filled it. The loo seat had a mind of its own and a wicked sense of humour! You never knew when it would suddenly lurch sideways, annoyingly the loose tile was directly under the left foot. All minor faults, but all aggravating, all simply rectified.

The hotel is geared up for golfing holiday but not for family sightseeing. It is approx 4 miles plus outside of Dartmouth, make sure you have a car. Rooms tired and restaurant basic. Room overlooked golf course, so view pleasant. Nice looking swimming pool/ gym/spa although we did not use.

We paid 83 pounds per night for 4 nights and at that price we were pleasantly surprised at how nice the room was. The spa and swimming pool was very good quality and at the time we stayed it was also pretty quite which was nice. I would advise against using the restaurant, I had the beef burger on the first night and it was like something from a van on the side of the road, and the young girl serving at the bar was very rude to us the whole time we were ordering, it was quite strange really. If you do need to eat at the hotel the best thing to do is order room service and have pizza. A lot of the golfers/locals will stare at you every time you have to walk through the bar/restaurant to go to the rooms which is quite rude aswell, although this isn't the hotels fault. The location is really good and we could drive to Dartmouth in under 15 mins.

Fantastic weekend in one of the lodges. The lodge was well equipped with everything needed for a self catering break. We used the restaurant for meals and would advise booking although a table was always made available for us. Staff were amazing, nothing was to much trouble and always greeted with a smile and friendly word. I have visited previously for lunches and received the same standard of service. Would recommend staying to explore the surrounding area if you're not a golfer. Wonderful wedding venue, food was fabulous.

This hotel is definitely geared up for golfers. We stayed for 3 nights and each evening there were large groups of about 12- 20 in the evening. This meant that meal times had to be structured around them… not too much of an issue. One evening it did get a bit noisy but not too bad. The food at breakfast was very good. The evening meals were kept to a small selection of meals, but very well cooked. I can recommend the catch of the day.. in my case mackerel and monkfish. Service was excellent from all staff, really cheerful and very helpful. The room we had was a family room ( I booked at short notice) and was spacious. Beds were firm and comfortable. We used the pool each evening. The facilities were good.. excellent sauna and steam room. Note to management… the cleanliness of the showers and changing rooms were not good. The black mould was horrendous and I,m not sure why you would leave this like it as it is a fairly easy clean with the correct cleaning solutions. Also to use masking tape to attach the “fairy lights” to the restaurant ceiling was a bad mistake and looks awful, again such an easy fix to do properly.

Great week spent in the self catering lodges - 3 excellent sized en-suite bedrooms with good facilities in the lounge/kitchen/diner. Swimming pool and spa and 2 golf courses as well! A great location for a family get together with lots of varied amenities close by.

We booked accommodation last minute, meaning we were restricted on options. We picked the Best Western Dartmouth for its convenient location and proximity to the places we wanted to see. This I cannot fault and appreciated. I can also say that when an issue arose, the staff member I spoke to was apologetic and sincere and I felt that the staff were very friendly and warm. However, I felt that the hotel was a very average place to stay and the cleanliness of the room was subpar. I feel it was expensive for what it is.

This hotel is advertised on the Best Western website as being ‘pet friendly' and chargeable at £10 per night. However, on arrival for our ‘pet friendly' weekend break we were asked to pay £20 per night for the dog and told that dogs aren't allowed in ANY areas of the hotel and in fact we would have to walk around the outside of the hotel to get to our room. We were not allowed to dine with our dog, have a drink in the bar with our dog and in fact our B&B break meant you had to leave your dog in the car to use any of the facilities including at breakfast time in the hotel as they have a new rule of not leaving dogs in the room due to the risk of them barking and therefore you need to leave them in the car. If you are looking for a pet friendly break you are unlikely to be careless enough to leave your pet in the car - especially on a hot day. The Dartmouth Hotel should remove the offer of ‘pet friendly' and stick to human customers. We decided not to stay and would not recommend this hotel to people taking pets. It's probably very nice for humans, but we will never know because we never got beyond Reception.

This was an amazing, comfortable and friendly place to stay, although large it wasn't imposing or noisy. The staff where friendly and nothing was too much trouble, it felt like being in a rather old stately home, so if modern is your thing, this won't be for you. We made daily use of the pool and sauna areas, with the temperature just right. The food suited our tastes and was beautifully cooked and we enjoyed this while gazing at the golf course and countryside and we don't even play golf.

We were a fairly large party of golfers who stayed for 2 nights and played the gol& course. We had nice rooms which were on one of the lower floors. The Staff made sure we enjoyed our time at the hotel and on the golf course. The golf course was great, a real challenge of golf. It was a tight course with greens that ran fair and true. The 10th and 18th were spectacular. The bar was great with a pool table and a great selection of drinks. The dining room served good food. It was also handy to have a Pro shop in the middle of the hotel. We all enjoyed the visit.

We stayed may bank holiday weekend and through til the 5th, a 5 day B&B package with one evening meal with a drink included. Positives Rooms were of a good standard, with two tub chairs and coffee table, bathroom with shower over the bath, comfortable beds. Breakfast buffet (help yourself) was better than others we have stayed at, with pastries, cereals, toast, fruit, cooked breakfasts and choice of 4 fruit juices every day. We had 2 evening meals, 2 courses was around £20 and very nice. Fresh fish on the menu each day, and everything from burgers to curry's on offer. We enjoyed lemon and Torbay sole, pork, chicken Cajun and a very nice beef burger as mains, with a delightful tomato soup and pate for starters. Didn't try the desserts. Serving staff were lovely, and did me poached eggs each morning. You could order a continental breakfast, or kippers off the menu if preferred. Views of the golf course were fabulous. We were not disturbed by noise during our stay, even though over the bank holiday weekend there was a big group of golfers in very bright holiday type shirts! Negatives The front of the hotel was a big letdown after coming through their fabulous gates and down their drive (a rather steep one) to the car park. (They do have some very attractive buildings opposite the hotel which I think are self catering). The reception was to the left when you came through the doors, I nearly missed it. You have to walk through the bar to get to the hotel rooms. This is also where you will have both breakfast and evening meal. They have a spa, which is down some stairs off the main corridor. However, I didn't see any price list, what services they offered, what products they use in the spa. Nothing in the hotel rooms about the spa services, or indeed a menu to order from for room service. So we didn't indulge. Big missed marketing opportunity there I think! I feel they were just concentrating on their golfing facilities. They could do so much more with little effort. On arrival we were told if we needed our towels changing mid week they would change them. No one came into the room during our stay to refresh the coffee/ biscuits, or to make the bed. Not sure if this was a hangover from Covid or because we were on s special, but if I am paying for hotel facilities, I expect these things to happen. We were not in a self contained unit! We asked for more coffee on day 3 and it was replenished, but saw no one from that point on in the room. There was no green tea in the rooms, just Nescafé coffee and standard tea bags (I'm dairy allergic so for me it was a negative as I mainly drink green tea). On settling our bill, we were not asked if we had enjoyed our stay.

Very clean hotel. A bit dated and tired in areas. Golf is very much the main business for this hotel and as such it does feel more like a clubhouse with guest rooms rather than a hotel with a golf course. Staff are lovely, parking is close to the hotel. Hotel is wrapped by the golf course, which looks beautiful. Pool area is really good. Times are restricted for children though so check this before you book. Food is good. Breakfast not so much - if we booked again we wouldn't bother with the breakfast and we'd head into Dartmouth to find a cafe/bistro. Overall, it is a good stay but I think it looks better online that it is in person.

I would not recommend staying at this hotel as it is extremely overpriced and the hotel standards for the rooms are low as they are not clean. I will attach photos of how we found our room to be and despite our complaints we did not receive any apologies or any kind of refund. My advice is that you are better off staying at a travel lodge as you will save money and get a better service!!

On arrival the floor one of our party was staying on smelt like cannibis, this was also in their room. The windows on the stairs was left open all night (I presume to get rid of the the smell) however as the fire doors were also kept open it meant it was incredible cold in that room as it was the first room on that floor. The member of the party did not sleep well at all due to being cold which did not make for a good day of meetings that day.

Have stayed here several times and have always been satisfied. Change of top staff ie chef and manager needs to settle down. Ideal for traveling to Dartmouth whether you are a golfer or not….we are not.

Great place to get away and relax, spa facilities lovely and very clean. Meals, dinner and breakfast were lovely . Staff so we're so helpful and polite . Room clean and had everything you need. Would recommend a stay especially if you are a fan of golf or Spa,s. Will be back.

Spent a weekend with friends, had a lovely time until the golf shop member of staff felt it exceptable to talk in a very unprofessional manner, what was meant to be a relaxing weekend ended up all 3 of us feeling verbally abused. Based on this experience I won't be recommending the resort to my golfing friends. Some training in customer service wouldn't go a miss.

We tried this place via a 'Great Little Breaks' offer so wasn't expecting much. Previous 'offers' have found us next to a buzzing air conditioning plant or overlooking dustbins etc but not so here. We overlooked the putting practise area with steep banks behind it, so good start. A previous reviewer called their staff 'the star of the show'. I must agree. From check in, cleaning and restaurant, everyone seemed happy and engaged in conversation. Being a golf club they probably employ staff from a better quality of the local populace. Yes, that sounds snobby but who hasn't encountered the monosyllabic morons that infest the hospitality industry? (before coming here we stayed in one). Breakfast was a buffet style event. Evening meal was varied, well cooked and with upgrade choices. Room was found clean and tidy. Pool was a good temperature though maintenance was lacking. Great steam room, Sauna rather cool. Overall value for money was brilliant. We intend to return and book direct.

We thought it would be a nice break to have a night away from the humdrum of life. When we arrived the temperature outside was 2 degrees. The weather was bad... So why would the hotel not put the heater on before their guests arrive when the weather is so cold? They know the time of check in. The little radiator took an age to heat the room. It was freezing, I ended up in the bed to get warm. On top of that, there was broken shards of glass on the floor next to the bed. So clearly guests before had broken a glass and it had not been cleared up properly. Luckily my husband spotted it and cleared it away. The towel rail was turned off and took us a while to find the switch to turn it on. The bathroom was freezing too. We used the spa - the welcome pack clearly states that towels and robes will be provided. We were given towels when we asked for them (if that is what you can call thread bare terry towelling - I have cleaning rags in better condition) but no robes. After the spa we went for dinner. We had a reservation for 7:30pm. We ordered the starter after getting annoyed at 8pm that no one had taken our order. Not even a drink. An hour later the starter arrived. The mains then took another hour. We eventually ate at 10pm and to be honest the ribs were nothing more special than something we could have bought in Tesco. We went back to our room and the people in the next room were having a party. We asked them to quieten it down so they went and continued their party in another room but kept coming back so we heard banging from their door all night. We didn't sleep a wink. The next morning I felt so ill for lack of sleep (I have an auto immune disease) that I just didn't feel like a cooked breakfast so I asked for the continental breakfast. It took them a further half hour to cook a Croissant. In that time we had to check out (check out is 10am) so we ended up eating breakfast with our bags and cases surrounding us. My husband fed the info back to the staff at reception when checking out and they didn't appear to care. So we certainly won't stay there again.

Really nice overnight getaway. Enjoyed use of the swimming pool, steam room and jacuzzi. Meal was delicious (blue cheese gnocchi and lemon cheesecake) and waiting staff were friendly and attentive. Room clean, massive bed (feels a bit like an upmarket Premier Inn) and shower room felt luxurious. Dartmouth just 10 minutes drive away. Lovely scenery although our room was on ground floor and had a hedge for a view! Would maybe phone hotel directly next time to see if we could ask for a room on the golf course side for the view. Reception staff too were really pleasant. It feels like all the staff have either had very good customer service training or it comes naturally to them! Overall very happy.

Lunch and use of the spa with rasul mud experience: Food was nice, staff pleasant, helpful and service good. We had a nice, relaxing time. Unfortunately the spa, changing rooms, pool area and mud room all needed a really good clean. Would be 5 star if dust, fluff and hair wasn't to be found everywhere you looked!

Hotel is getting rather tired now. Good location. But facilities need updating. Pool is very very busy and too small for amount of customers trying to use it. Food was good quality at breakfast and staff friendly and helpful.

Stayed for 3 nights , lovely rooms very friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast would have preferred A La Carte menu for dinner , but that is personal preference as I am not a huge eater , the Spa facilities were great also had some lovely treatments , which was the reason we went as it was a Birthday present for my friend , I would definitely return

After waiting for this Spa Day , (since covid ) 1st impressions were good , the man on reception was really pleasant , and also the girl on the reception of the Spa had great customer service, the down fall came when she took me through to the changing rooms ! The robes were thin and cheap , and also no flip flops !!! we were told to bring our own even tho when my friend purchased the package it stated these were included , I went into the changing room and the smell of sewage was awful !!! I asked the girl on reception did they have a problem. And she said they did but there was nothing they could do !! , I personally think they shouldn't be opening that changing room the stench was real bad , very off putting on a relaxing day , the jacuzzi I feel they should time people 15 min slots as a group of ladies came in and basically hogged it for the duration of the spa day so we couldn't get in it together !! Now onto the restaurant, The meal was lovely the girl was a little abrupt as we were early but as we explained we just came early for a drink before our time slot for our meal , the meal was lovely I could not fault it as was the desserts the lad who served us had great customer service ,he was polite and efficient , would we go again ? I honestly can't answer this as I feel for what my friend paid, we didn't get the best out of our package , thank you to the staff though as I feel they have to apologise A lot on behalf of their company for the poor sanitation.

Spa team didn't smile and seemed unhappy on arrival and there were open LFT boxes in the desk which we assumed meant they may have been short staffed. As we walked through the spa doors towards the changing rooms it smelt horrible- like poo. When in the changing rooms we felt unsafe as it seemed very dirty and smelly. The lockers are unrealisable and take two people to unlock as someone needs to lean on the door whilst you twist the key. We ended up helping a lady in a panic. Friendly staff staff in the restaurant and good service. The pool was cold, spa and steam rooms were warm but not very hot and again didn't smell very nice. The gym has some good quality equipment but again felt dirty. When using the gym we noticed dead spiders by the skirting board, rubbish on the floor and the carpets had not been hoovered for sometime. When going for a treatment this was explained to us and then the lady left the room- so it was a ‘do it yourself treatment' which wasn't clear on booking. The food included was good but nothing special. However, the restaurant team were very friendly and attentive! We left feeling a little dirty and not relaxed. Showered as soon as we returned home from the journey. The hotel needs a good clean and refurbishment as it's looking a little worse for wear. The drainage needs looking at and some air fresheners might be needed to get rid of the smell down in the spa. I wouldn't recommend if you're looking for a relaxing spa day.

Was given this spa experience for Christmas, have been phoning every day since, still not been able to book! Non existent customer service! Do not do it! Was so ready for a relaxing day after the stressful years of covid. TERRIBLE NON EXISTENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Stayed at the Dartmouth Hotel and spa for a Weekend getaway with partner and friends. Great hotel, sensibly priced and staff were extremely helpful. Clean rooms and nothing too much trouble.Would recommend.

Very unhappy with the spa customer services. They Have agreed to process a refund for vouchers I purchased as a Christmas present for a spa experience, now they are ignoring all my emails and voicemails I have left. Also poor communication between the staff as had multiple people emailing me different information. I have now had to contact my bank to claim this money back as it doesn't look like they are going to get back to me after already waiting a month and still no reply! They were replying instantly when I made the initial purchase/booking.

Shocking customer service, still owe my partner a refund of over £200 which they agreed to send over a month ago. Don't answer the phones and dont respond to emails. Will let our bank claim the money back now, will not be using this place again!

We enjoyed our short winter break. We enjoyed the food and the services provided. Really enjoyed the swimming pool and jacuzzi.Enjoyed exploring the local area. Nice hotel and friendly staff - will be back

I'll start by saying the staff here are very friendly and keen to help. The food we had was very nice and the treatments we both had were also lovely. The thing that lets the whole experience down is how dated a lot of the hotel is with a visible lack of maintenance and cleanliness in places. Our bathroom was the worst offender with cracked floor tiles with play in them. There was also dirt around the edges of the sink and bath and a theme we noticed throughout the hotel is that a lot of things are looking a bit tired and in desperate need of updating.

We stayed for 3 nights over Christmas. The staff were amazing, food was incredible and we had a great time. Pool and spa were in great condition. Exterior a little tired but the internals were good condition although dated

We booked a golf cabin with log burner for two nights including spa treatments to celebrate a friends birthday. We arrived to find that the heating in November wasn't working. We went to reception to get some help and was provided with the instructions for the heating to solve the problem ourselves because they didn't have any support available until the morning. Check in was 4pm maintenance left at 4pm! The heating was broken so we returned to reception to be given a fan heater for a whole house! This didn't work. We went back to complain and ask for the manager to be told that the receptionist was the manager. We asked if we could have logs for the fire to generate some heat. They didn't have any! We complained again but by this time we had had a chance to check the house properly. The oven hadn't been cleaned and we even had burnt bacon in the grill! Dirty curtains, cobwebs and stains. This place wasn't cleaned. After two hours of wasted time and an argument with the manager she finally offered us another house to use so after packing and moving we had wasted the first evening just trying to arrive and settle in. The offer to compensate was the cheapest bottle of house wine they had. Seriously, NEVER ever again!

Lovely 1 night spa break. Hotel a little tired but our room was clean and airy. Excellent evening meal and wonderful spa treatment by Amy who was excellent. Made use of the pool and sauna which were very good. Very friendly staff especially Christopher at breakfast. Will definitely return. Good value.

Lovely location, delicious food, light and airy hotel, clean & well presented. Top quality customer service. Highly recommend this hotel, it is set in an idol if location, minimal mobile phone signal that allowed us to really switch off.

Three of us stayed in a cottage on a spa break offer. Cottage was spacious and clean. TV's in each room but not all remotes had batteries or batteries that worked. The upper floor bedroom had a foul smell coming from the wash handbasin and there were quite a few black bluebottle type flies in the room; which I thought was related to the foul smell coming from the handbasin. I chose not to use this shower room on the final day as the smell was getting worse and I got fed up with killing flies so I put the plug in the basin and kept the door closed. The food was good in the Bistro and the staff in the Spa were fab - Michelle on reception and both the therapists. Nothing was too much trouble.

The hotel, staff, food and golf were all amazing. We booked a Sunday driver, overnight stay, dinner, bed & breakfast and were not disappointed. The staff were very attentive and friendly, the 3 course dinner was excellent value. There was no allowance against the al-a-carte menu, a couple of dishes had a small supplement only, everyone had 3 courses. All food was home made (including bread, pate as well as all other dishes), by an excellent executive chef. It was actually his soux chef on the night that we stayed & all was fantastic. The views from the restaurant & on the courses were breath taking. We would highly recommend this hotel & championship golf course & would definitely stay there again if we are in the area. Stayed for 2 nights for a golf break. Excellent value for money as the course and hotel are very well managed. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The menus were wide ranging - just try the delicious mussels, with a brilliant offering for breakfast. Rooms roomy and very clean. Buggies were available for the whole group which we were grateful for a the course is challenging.

I would say this hotel is not ideal for a spa weekend, it is a hotel designed for golfers and that's it! It is a very tired hotel and needs a refurb! The spa itself is ok but again very average! Very expensive stay for what you actually get.

Have recently returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel. Throughly enjoyed our stay, staff were friendly and very amenable. Menu choices were great and varied enough to have something different in each of our 3 nights. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Thanks to all for our stay

Looking on the bright side, the food was quite nice, the rooms were clean and the restaurant staff were polite and patient with our large group, but I found anything past those basics was lacking. From initial organisation, they couldn't fulfil the conditions of the deal offered (golf course availability) and told us to take it or leave it. When we got there the restaurant was serving buffet breakfast, but somehow managed to take 40 minutes to bring us the equivalent from the bar menu. Only one of the TVs in the bar worked, which was in a room that the hotel inexplicably barred us from using during a busy day of televised sport, so they could seat a group for a meal. Cue my group decanting into the empty restaurant, full of free tables. The 'spa' offering, although not the purpose of my visit, was poor, with a very small pool, a steam room that was out of order, a sauna that wasn't even warm, and a jacuzzi that was dirty and tepid. Basic enquiries to the pro shop were met with turse, single syllable answers from the lady behind the counter. Finally, when it came to our long awaited round of golf on the championship course, which we should have had use of for two days, but was too full on day one, a clearly unplayable course was kept open with no prior warnings about condition or playability, which I see as a synical and mercenary act, designed to ensure payment of green fees and buggy fees, which we had no hope of enjoying. While they can't be expected to control the weather, it's not unreasonable to expect a little consideration from a venue offering a highly weather dependent leisure activity. I think a warning and at least the offer of a subsidised future visit was in order. While the deal was cheap, it didn't deliver on its promise and I am surprised so many people have such low standards and review this place so highly.

My friend treated me to a spa package and we went last week. Spa was great and not too busy and enjoyed the pool with the water feature that you stand under in the pool and it acts as a massager. Went for lunch and unfortunately my friend's meal had something wrong with it so she asked for a new one. Everything fine until the dessert when hers was delivered first and she ate most of it by the time mine was delivered and we realised they had squashed hers! How ridiculous for the restaurant staff to get petty “revenge” for sending a meal back that had a genuine problem. She was understandably upset and we were both in disbelief. There was a wedding on so perhaps staff were stressed but no excuse for this. We went to have our treatments after that, abs although we can't fault the spa staff, the day had been ruined by that point. I feel so bad for my friend who just wanted to do something nice for me.

We found the cottage very comfortable and well equipped. Parking excellent. WiFi was a bit intermittent in cottage. Had some minor issues, e.g. light in bathroom didn't work at start. Also a loose door handle fell off, but both were rectified within 2 days. We ate once at the restaurant and thought it very good. We didn't use the other facilities so can't comment.

I have just stayed at the cottages at The Dartmouth Golf and country club and it was an exceptional stay. Cottages well equipped and clean and in a quiet valley with all the hotel facilities on the doorstep. It is close to Dartmouth with all its amenities and the Park and Ride is just up the road as parking is restricted in Dartmouth so easy to use. If I had one criticism it would be poor WiFi and I mean poor non exisistent till you leave the valley. Also mobile phone signal

Very run down hotel. Just had dinner with group of 16 golfers. Very poor menu. Most were charged supplements. I only had two courses but received no discount. Heads they win, tails they do not lose. Also, rather tired room with heating plant just outside.

Excellent weekend, good golf facilities and the hotel was comfortable. Both breakfast and evening meal were very nice and service very good. Two golf courses, both are good to play and well maintained. I would definitely recommend for a golf break.

We stayed at Dartmouth Golf for the weekend which had to be rebooked 4 times due to covid and we have had such a fantastic weekend - the staff were so good - always helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. the food was outstanding as usual, and the golf course was in immaculate condition. We are looking forward to coming back next year I want to thank you all for such a fantastic weekend you have all been absolutely amazing xx

Really great value for money with friendly and welcoming staff and excellent facilities. The rooms are clean and well stocked with everything you would need, including a selection of teas, coffees and biscuits. Highly recommended.

Booked to go with a friend as a treat. Pulled up outside of what looked like the golf club house, had to go in to check we were in the right place as no obvious sign outside. Signs every where in spa to ask people not to leave towels on the few beds to save them, however people did, about 7 beds had towels and no people. Staff came and went and did nothing about it. The pool was a little bit to cold. Steam room and sauna were lovely. Went for our rasul mud treatment, was told my appointment time on arrival, but not to see reception when ready, was told off for going into the open mud room without them!! Not good customer service. The room wasn't ready. There could of been more mud/scrub as only enough to do front of body. Next we went for lunch. The menu for us had 3 main items, very limited. Ragu, fish and chips or 5 been chilli. I don't eat tomatoes or fish, so asked if I could have a burger instead, was told that was fine, no mention of extra charge for it. Starter was beautiful. It was the fine dining I expected, as advertised. Shame the same couldn't be said about the main meal. Didn't realise the 5 bean chilli, which my friend had, would only have 5 beans in it. Mainly tinned tomatoes and lots of chilli. My burger came out burnt and the chips were dried up. Should of complained at the time but did want to make a fuss. If it was fine dining neither meal should of left the kitchen. No one asked if our meal was OK at the time. I left half of my meal. We waited for the table to be cleared or asked if we would like dessert or coffee. So after 15 minutes we left as was getting cold. Dining area was a bit chilly. Went back to spa to have a member of restaurant staff run after me to pay my bill. Asked if I could do at end of spa and was asked to pay there and then. I was charged for the burger and chips. However chips were part of the menu that I had already paid for. I did not check at the time and just paid.very embarrassing as other people in the spa had noticed and were looking. I then went to the steam room to warm up after getting cold in the restaurant, my friend went to the quiet chill out room, considering it was some where to relax, it was right next to reception where there was a lot of noise, so could do with a door to close between the 2. When I booked I wasn't ask if I wanted to book any other treatments ie massage, so tried booking couple days before to be told there was nothing available. I thought fair enough, did ask on the day if there was a cancellation could they let me know. Unfortunately there wasn't, however I did notice 2 treatment rooms were empty the whole time we were there. Maybe they don't have the staff to cover. On the plus side I did have a lovely day with my friend. Would we go again, probably not, would we recommend it, once again probably not. I would not go for dinner there either as feel McDonalds did a better burger and chips than what I was served

Great mini spa break, great location, staff very friendly. The menu was varied and we both enjoyed our three course meal, portion size was spot on. Our spa visit the following morning was exactly what was needed, especially for a first timer (me). I would certainly revisit.

This is a great place to stay and blow the cobwebs away. Stunning views, great golf experience, easily accessible to visit surrounding beauty spots. particularly Dartmouth. I enjoyed the golf teaching break, excellent tuition from Rob. Food was good and accommodation needs updating. The hotel is not the same as on the website so was disappointing and a little misleading as that is what initially sold me on the break. the photo is another hotel. However, I had a good break and would come back.

Room ok, great if your a golfer, however not really a choice just for a few days break. Food was poor quality, dinner small portion of fish covering tough yellowing greens, which was inedible. Leek and potato soup bland and watery. Staff very friendly and helpful. Not much in the way of eatery's close by, Dartmouth and tones 4and 6 miles away and you need to book somewhere as they are mostly fully booked

Stayed for one night during the Tour of Britain cycle race. Check in was slow as there was only one person on reception. Took around 10 minutes and further delay as I needed to check in online. Room was OK, clean and well presented. No view at all but that's OK as I was only using it to sleep in. Ate in the restaurant in the evening and that was really good. Food was what I class as typical pub food. Staff were excellent. Friendly and excellent service. Check out was a nightmare in that the reception was unmanned at 08:20. In the end I had to leave my key card with the breakfast staff. I sent a message to the hotel telling them what I had done but received no acknowledgment. I would stay there again.

Over all the stay was brilliant the golf course is well maintained and the hotel it kept to a high standard, I was drinking with my team mates on Monday evening and asked for a full bottle of white wine to be put back for us in the fridge for the next night, a lad in a white shirt not sure if the manager as didn't have name tag on was nice and polite and did this for us. Tuesday night once again the lad in a white shirt was behind the bar with a colleague of his name Phil i believe, I asked for the bottle of wine from the night to be credited back to our account as i didn't think it had been opened if it had been opens we would of drank it, how ever Phil was in the fridge looking at the wine when the young lad pointed out it was the one with a name on it and was un opened to then see with my very own eyes Phil secretly opened it and handed it to me and said “sorry it's was open “ I confronted him and he made up an excuse of misunderstanding and we got a refund back, other than that brilliant

We've just come back from a one night's golf break. It included 2 rounds of golf on their championship course and dinner bed and breakfast......all for £99 each! What can I say .... excellent value on all counts! How anyone can say otherwise, I honestly don't know. The staff were friendly and helpful; the accomodation was clean, spacious and comfortable; the food was extremely tasty and we'll presented and the golf course was well maintained. A great place to stay at a great price. Thoroughly recommend.

Great hotel…great golf courses…..Staff are excellent nothing is to much trouble. Every time we go back it feels like we are coming home, The rooms are very decent always very clean and tidy……The bar furniture could do with a little updating but I am sure that's in hand.

Lovely room, good choice at breakfast , hot food served to the table and also had dinner there twice. All tasty and nicely presented. I was on crutches and staff were very helpful, especially Dee who organised an accessible room at short notice. Unfortunately the spa was booked up 3 weeks in advance so didn't get the treatments I was hoping for. Good position, really quiet so had a lovely restful stay. Good value and would stay again

As the name suggests this is a Golf Club with a Spa, that has lovely bedrooms and cottages. It's not a Hotel that also happens to have a golf course. We stayed in one of the cottages that was great for 6 and very well appointed. We weren't there for the golf and still had a great stay, using the Spa & Restaurant facilities after a great day visiting local attractions. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Often they were rushed off their feet, but after Covid and Brexit, getting the right staffing levels must be difficult. We would happily come back and stay when visiting the area again.

On arriving at the room we were met with the spell of toilet which was throughout our room not just in the bathroom. We had to open the windows to vent the room and get rid of the smell. The bedlinen also had a small pile of dirt on it like someone had dropped come soil on it. The restaurant staff were unfriendly and verging on rude. It is a nice setting with a good golf course but I would not stay there again.

Went for a golf break with some buddies. Staff are very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Food was super, rooms comfortable and whilst the golf course is a cracker, only our golf left a little to be desired!

We stayed for 1 night on the 21st August. Firstly let me say the staff were great. All very friendly and made us feel welcome. The downside though was the hotel. Its quite run down feeling. The bistro had a lot of cobwebs and dead wasps lying about. The whole place seems a bit stuck in the 1980's. Clearly needs a good clean and refurb. The hotel seems geared more towards golfers than guests a number of golfers were there and being very loud and swearing at the tops of their voices which was a real shame. The spa was a bit on the small and uncomfortable side and our treatments were cancelled due to staff shortages which didn't help. Overall I wouldn't stay again which is a shame as the staff, as I said, were all very polite.

Lovely clean, spacious rooms, with everything you need. The staff were so helpful and friendly. All the meals we had there were delicious, in particular the hanging beef kebab. We appreciated the free, easy parking.

Food was very good. Spa was good but pool area could have been cleaner. Room was basic and very dated. Hotel is old and doesnt look great from the outside. We ordered chocolate strawberries as a surprise extra but they werent in the room when we arrived and the staff didnt seem to know anything about them.

The entrance and hotel itself needs a good clean and tidy up, it has seen much better days and it's a considerable job to do. As you enter the hotel part of the building its a bit like Crossroads (for those old enough to remember). For the whole time we were there we never saw reception staffed once, just the same old unbranded printed off sign. We made our way to the spa and were greeted by a lovely lady on reception who booked us in and explained everything to us. I must say I was very annoyed to have booked treatments for the whole group only to then find out we had to pay for the spa facilities on top, this is highly unusual!! After we changed we went in to the facilities which were clean and well kept. The facilities in the spa include; Gym, pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. You are able to drinks at the pool side but have to walk upstairs to the club bar to fetch them, it was rather a unique experience having a gin and tonic in a paper coffee cup haha. Time for our treatment - I chose a full body massage and throughout the whole experience the therapist wouldn't shut up talking; what I don't know about her life isn't worth knowing. After some 'pampering' we decided to have some dinner upstairs and today was Carvery day - I have to say with all honesty this is probably one of the best Sunday lunches I have ever had. In fact I don't think I have ever had beef cooked to such perfection, the knife practically slid through it, the crust absolutely gorgeous. The roast potatoes were crunchy to the bite and soft and fluffy within. Yorkshire puddings were exemplary - a super lunch. Unfortunately I cannot remember our servers name (I want to possibly say Leanne), she was from the North East of England. This lady was an absolute joy, nothing at all was too much trouble and was by far the best member of staff on the day!! The following day we went back down to the spa and used the facilities. Frustratingly as we were enjoying the pool we were told to move over by a young girl as she was setting up for swimming lessons. Part of the pool was then roped off before a trio of screaming kids came in. The swimming instructor was shouting her instructions at them whilst their parents sat around the pool side. This obliterated any sense of relaxation at all. I'm not against kids using the pool, however this is supposed to be a spa and not a town leisure centre. It was not good to have to pay to use the facilities as a spa only to be told to move etc. With the right management this place good truly be amongst the best in the South Hams but unfortunately in parts it felt like a Travel Lodge trying to be a Hilton.

The receptionist was brilliant and explained all required. The organisation was excellent as was the food with an lovely evening meal. Also the golf course was in very good condition and kept moving. All 8 of us had a great time and brilliant value for money.

The photos online on the website definitely make this look luxury. Unfortunately it is not my idea of luxury! On arriving the place was dark, dreary and dirty. The carpet was dirty, the fridge smelt of old mops as did the lounge. There was a lot of spiders and ants in the rooms along with chipped sinks and dirty plug holes . It felt dirty and damp and no wi fi even though we were told it was available. We would have to walk to the hotel to access this ! Hotel geared up to golfers who like to swear and talk loudly and not consider children. Management not bothered and passed complaints around several people within the team with no apology or outcome. Would suggest you save your money as overpriced and not managed well at all. Won't be coming back.

Lovely hotel and great staff when you get hold of them!!!! Please can someone at the hotel man the main phone line. Family want to book lots of rooms for next summer. At the moment the phone lines are just putting us on hold. We can't rate the hotel if we can't stay as no one picks ups the phone.

Amazing Amazing Amazing Massage was amazing The Mani and pedi for my daughter was amazing and the therapist was soo friendly! Hotel is run down and so are the facilities but the above two made it outstanding!

We were staying in the self catering cottages attached to the hotel. We used the hotel for some meals as well as the bar. Food quality good and reasonably priced. Service excellent,attentive and friendly.

We feel so lucky to have stumbled across this hotel. I hadn't any great expectations but was pleasantly surprised on many levels. The location is great, the views spectacular, over the gold course (not that I am a golfer) and the room was big, clean and very modern. The bathroom was lovely, although I do prefer a bath to shower, the shower was great, modern, powerful and big. Having stayed there, we would have stayed longer had we been able to. We would definitely return

We booked in for the rasul mud treatment and two course meal. We were welcomed at the spa by Harriet who I have to say was great. She was so polite and positive! The mud treatment was great, very hot but so relaxing. We then had use of the spa facilities which again were great. We then moved on to our meal which was nice. The menu was very limited but still a nice cross section of food types. For the price we thought it was today worth it!

We arrived at the hotel a little early, which was good as we went into the bar for a drink. It was a lovely setting overlooking the putting practice part, (we are not golfers so sorry) we said what a wonderful setting. We were staying for 3 nights, and really looking forward to the break. After collecting our key, we went to our room, well both our chins almost hit the floor, and not in a good way. The room was untidy, as in the bed cover was just thrown on the bed, looked like it had been sat on by 3 or 4 people. We went into the bathroom,. The floor had that smell of dirty water, like the floor cleaner needed changing in the cleaners bucket. The room was tired. The wall and floor tiles looked old and worn. The toiletries consisted of a multi purpose shampoo, one in the shower, and one by the sink. The towels were hard , not quite sandpaper, but close. The mirror in the bedroom hadn't been cleaned, finger marks all over them. I read the information book that was left, when opening it 9, A4 sheets fell out, all the same saying welcome, and some Covid tips while staying. Also was written, for room service or drinks from the bar, call the receptionist. ( who was only on duty from 10.30 am until 7.30pm possibly) I noticed the phone receiver was off the hook, so replaced it, then noticed the phone was unplugged from the wall socket. I plugged it back in and the phone screeched at me. So that's why it was unplugged! I did the same, no phone then. That is all the negatives. We stayed for the 3 nights and had breakfast and evening meal every night. I would like to say how fantastic all the restaurant staff were. They were very well mannered, even had a laugh with us about various things, nothing was too much trouble for them. They were very attentive. We even asked them to change a few things on the menu, this was done without any problems. We were warmly welcomed to breakfast every morning, and evening. The hotel is set up for golf and spa booking, it also advertises for people like us that want to use it as a base, to travel the area sightseeing. But it doesn't have a lounge area to relax in at night, there are soft seats beside the restaurant tables. And a dingy bar area that's dark and wasn't open. If you said would you come back here again, I would say yes for the food and the service. Definitely not for the rooms. We paid good money, and got a low grade room, I have stayed in better travel lodges and premier inns, paid much less and got far more superior rooms. If the rooms had a makeover, and were of a better standard. We would possible stay again. Thank you

First impression the reception looks terrible there is nothing plush about this hotel. Very over priced a pint of San Miguel £5.50 menu very expensive. Housekeeping is very bad our bedroom was covered in dust light stands headboard missed cleaning around the toilet, when we were there for 3 days our cups and glasses were not changed no replenishment of tea and coffee we had to ask. But of course the golf course was very good for my partner. There is nowhere quiet to sit and read a book while having a coffee. There is nowhere to buy anything sanity wear paracetamol I was told drive up to the rd turn left and go to the garage NOT GOOD.

Enjoyed a lovely stay at this hotel with some friends . We booked the restaurant ,initially as a back up in case we couldn't find other options elsewhere, but the food , prices and staff were so good that we ate in the hotel every night.

We went on a golf break, great hotel and golf course, reasonably priced. Course was in great shape, just wish my game was better. Hotel service was excellent and the staff very friendly, will be going back there.

A decent three star accommodation with enthusiastic and conscientious staff. Clean spacious rooms, and decent value for money. Experience generally good, but likely to attract loud, noisy groups, so better for sports orientated folk.

The five of us have been playing golf together for a number of years. We found the venue delightful. The golf course was attractive, interesting, is slightly hilly and the greens were a bit slow. Some long walks between holes. Overall, a lovely course. The hotel itself was clean, functional and the staff were excellent, attentive and polite, despite a large, rowdy group of other golfers. Meals were very good and varied. Tribute is the only ale on draught. Another option would have been welcome. The pool and spa was pleasant. The pool is a little short, but adequate. We would happily return

We paid £156 for 1 night (a Thursday) for a spontaneous trip down to Devon and this was the only accommodation left available (no wonder!). The reception is more like a school office and the images on the website must have been taken from one of the better rooms. It seemed as if it hasn't been redecorated for a good 10-15 years. It was extremely loud in the morning with people talking and golf carts shooting past our window. The walls may as well have been made of paper. The hotel was clean but because of the lack of updated furniture and bathroom tiles it felt musty. I don't think I've ever stayed in a more overpriced hotel. I would have paid maximum £60 to stay here and that's from someone coming from a city. We stayed in a 5* hotel in Manchester a few weeks ago for the same price and the difference was impeccable. Don't give your money to these hotels taking advantage of post lockdown ripping people off.

Been coming here for a while and the customer service is terrible. The spa facilities always close early and they give you next to zero notice! Tired of paying for terrible customer service! I appreciate its unprecedented times but it's been 15 months since the pandemic begun, you'd think they'd have something in place to avoid closing early, or at very least get better at communicating to its members.

Before we arrived at the hotel we had a very shocking experience with the booking/ reception staff. I was booking a romantic birthday weekend for my boyfriend not knowing anything about golf. I booked the golf and spa 2 day package meaning I had booked the 18 hole. This lead to clothing attire problems 2 days before the booking as I was not made aware on the website, booking confirmation and on the phone during the booking that proper golf clothing needs to be worn. Due to this I tried refunding my golf session which I could do however I couldn't refund my boyfriends golf. I wasn't happy with this option as I didn't want to pay for a service I was not receiving. I was put through to 3 different members of staff who were all unserporstive and putting the blame on me instead of apologising for not making me aware on booking that you need golf clothes. I was finally put through to a manager and she was just as bad as the other 3 she was rude and it took for ages to come up with a solution. We finally came up with a solution and it was the most stressful situation I have been in. I would heavily suggest all admin staff complete some Customer Service training as non of them apologised and try to come up with a one off solution which you would in any other workplace. I have given a star for the golf course which was lovely and a star to the spa which was incredible and the spa staff were so friendly. I would recommend the spa 100%. I have also given a star to the room and restaurant staff. The room was simple for the money we paid and had everything we needed. We had issues with our food which I will mention below. Thankfully the restaurant staff were supportive and brilliant at their jobs that they were able to come up with other solutions for our food. They should teach the admin staff a thing or too. Our 3 course meal which came with the booking was ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING. I wasn't happy with my starter it turns out the soup I ordered was a cold soup so I spoke to the staff and they managed to find me an alternative which was much appreciated. Mains was SHOCKING I had a chicken burger and my partner had a beef burger. Our buns were covered in green mold they missed the cheese of my partners burger. My chicken was so so dry. The salad(lettuce) in the burger was bad and the chips which came with the burger were not to our liking. Dessert we chose Brownie which wasn't to bad, we took the food to our room as we were bored of waiting for table service in the restaurant. After this dinner experience we were not looking forward to breakfast in the morning. At breakfast the next day the morning manager came up to me and asked if we had issues last night and we said yes. He was very sorry for what had happened and he let us have lunch and free drinks on the house. We were very happy with this option so we took it and had a nice simple lunch of a toasted tea cake and a sandwich. The breakfast was simple and on the Sunday it was my boyfriend's birthday and the lady serving us was very lovely and organised a complimentary fruit platter. This was a very lovely gesture for her to do which made us enjoy our morning. All in all we would not book to stay in the hotel again due to the admin staff and the poor cooked food. We did enjoy the 9 hole course and the spa was incredible.

8 of us recently stayed on a short golf break , hotel staff polite,efficient and professional .food in the restaurant superb (recommend the salmon) Bedrooms spotlessly clean and beds very comfy .The golf course in excellent condition , very testing , but a great challenge , take plenty of balls . We are already planning a return later in the year .Not one of us could find the slightest thing wrong , well done staff and management.

This is our annual weekend away and was booked for 2020, but was rescheduled to June 2021 with no fuss or complications. The hotel and pro shop staff were friendly and welcoming. Despite the ongoing restrictions we had a great time and want to say a big thank you to the staff who have to work twice as hard to look after their guests. The room was clean and functional for two golfers and check in was easy. We had breakfast and an evening meal in our package and you give your choices in advance for the evening meal. the food was delicious and well presented. The golf course is in great condition and well presented and a stern test. We had a great time and thank you to all the staff for making it a great weekend.

We booked this hotel stay during the bank holiday weekend to enjoy a relaxing break for my belated 40th birthday. From the outset there was confusion at reception as I was made to complete an online track and trace questionnaire which had technical faults, including incorrect date formats for our stay - which does undermine the purpose of track and trace. The room itself which we found after being directed through a bar room full of boisterous golfers enjoying a few drinks was pleasant enough and was what you would expect from a budget hotel. The decor was in general quite unusual and tired in appearance, but given the plight of hotels during the pandemic I was willing to overlook these shortcomings as this is clearly a hotel which requires serious financial investment. The main reason I have given this hotel a poor rating is due to the specific handling of a genuine issue we had during our stay. In the morning after our first and only night, I attempted to have a shower only to discover the water was scolding. After countless attempts to alter the temperature I decided to concede and contact the reception for assistance. When I described the situation I was told that our only option was to use the gym changing room showers as the maintenance staff were not in on that day and if called in would not arrive on time to help. I was also told it was "just one of those things". I generally try to see the best in most situations, however to be told this was the only solution and to take it or leave it, is not an acceptable solution to what is a fundamental part of staying a hotel. There was little by way of an apology and quite a defensive attitude to the problem. We took the decision to leave early and return home to have a shower, as the solution offered would have meant taking all of our belongings back through a busy breakfast service in the restaurant/bar to showering the gym changing rooms and return to our room - back through the bar again. I would not expect this from any level of accommodation, and I am extremely disappointed that my birthday weekend was marred by this event and poor customer service. I sent a courteous email to the customer service team at the hotel to ask to speak with the manager to discuss my issue, however this email has been ignored and hence I write my review here with regret. It goes without saying we will not be staying at this hotel again, and we would struggle to recommenced it, given our experience. A little more customer care, respect and consideration would have gone along way.

I went for a spa break with my Mum the first weekend the restrictions were lifted. The spa and treatments were great. The food was yummy, the setting was beautiful (despite the rainy weather), the staff were friendly. We will definitely be returning

Very tired looking hotel with a somewhat shabby reception area to welcome you. Noisy at night with golf societies. Breakfast limited and poor quality too. Service in the morning was slow. Overall a poor experience and very overpriced for what you get.

Hotel in general very tired, needs alot of re decorating to brighten it up. Bathroom facilities quite old and not working to full use. Restaurant menus need to be up dated and changed more often with a better selection of food. Hotel reception not very inviting to walk into and possibly the least helpful in staff. Staff in restaurant and bar were exceptional.

Great course, although the weather was bad it drains so well and we got 2 rounds in. Unfortunately the staff and other facilities were terrible. We were greeted by a rude receptionist who gave us no information and showed no interest in making us feel welcome. The TVs weren't working in the bar area and they had no gas to serve any draught beer. They didn't apologise, just offered very overpriced bottled beers. The food was average, drinks massively overpriced and staff rude and not very welcoming at all. We had a 7:55am tee time but breakfast doesn't start 7:30, we weren't told this or any information about any facilities upon check in. It's a shame because the course is great, but I would not return.

First of all, the golf course was fantastic. Well maintained and presented and friendly course Marshall. Unfortunately that is where the good news about our three night stay ends: arrogant and unfriendly staff, mediocre food, overpriced (and very poor selection) of drinks, awful restaurant service and staff treating to overcharge us twice. It's also wroth noting that although there is a ‘pro' shop, everything is way overpriced and the more is one ‘pro' with the rest of the staff being clueless. More an overpriced retail shop rather than what you'd expect from a proper professional shop. Shame on you Best Western

Dated and run down facilities, room was basic and unclean, shower was like a drip hairs in the bath and sink. The walls are like paper, could hear next doors conversations. Was woken up at 6am but next door running a bath. Breakfast was awful, asked for the vegetarian option which was beans, mushrooms, a “sausage” with peas and sweet corn in? Fried toast And a tomato very very basic cheap food. Not what you want for breakfast, there are so many better veggie options. So disappointed with our stay, we paid £150 for one night b&b and it was appalling not worth the money!! The staff at the spa were unapproachable, didn't explain anything to us or that it was a children's swim when we arrived. We won't be recommending this hotel to friends & family and certainly won't be returning.

The spa lovely and relaxing, lady at reception very helpful and welcoming. Afternoon tea very very disappointing, sandwiches tasted stale , cake was dry. The waiter was lovely and very accommodating although I felt very sorry for him as I heard back of house kitchen staff speaking to him poorly! Bistro area looks tired and needs a re vamp. Kitchen staff need to treat waiting/ bar staff with more respect.

A peaceful place and a fantastic getaway with excellent value for money. The spa was clean and functional, the gym equipment was up to date and the spa staff providing treatments were excellent. All the restaurant and bar team went out of their way to be friendly and efficient at a difficult time for them. The outside needs a lick of paint on the render, but inside was clean and fresh. The bed was amazingly comfortable - the best sleep I've had in a long time. The grounds are stunning with views over the golf course.

We stayed in October half term for 4 nights. The food is excellent and would definitely recommend the Sunday Lunch. The hotel is a little dated, but very clean and the staff are very friendly. Great location 10mins from Dartmouth.

Hotel was clean and good standard of decor, in difficult times. Good covid measures, only spoilt by some other guests who did not follow advice. Staff were excellent , friendly and could not have been more helpful. Food in restaurant was excellent too.

Sunday Golf special offer. What a bargain! Great course with a great hotel and spa but more importantly the staff are superb! See you next year!! Top tip book a buggy otherwise it's a hilly walk albeit very enjoyable!!

It's a tired place, needs a lot of work, stuffy rooms and full of sweaty golfers. It's not a place for a spar break or anything relaxing. I would definitely not come back, dirty place, mattress of double bed was just to singles shoved together. More like Worst Western.

Won't refund the cost of the lodge, we can't make it as I suffered a stroke on Tuesday this week and we were due to visit next week the 23rd, reason given too short notice period. Their t&c didn't allow a refund, Disregarding Our situation, no compassion whatsoever.

Short and sweet but a great stay! Rooms were of perfect size and the team were incredibly friendly throughout. Felt reassured with all the sensible COVID precautions throughout. Did not have dinner nor breakfast so unable to comment.

We had a weekend break in a lodge for 3 couples. It was well equipped and comfortable- the only downside was there were only 5 chairs at the dining table and we found it a little chilly, you weren't able to adjust heating & the towel rails didn't work. We used the restaurant (moved to function room with limited menu due to COVID) Couldn't fault the service and the food was good.

My husband and I visited for a drift away spa day. We've been to this hotel for treatments numerous times and the standard they set in the spa is consistently high. It came with an afternoon tea which we'd give a 3.5 out of 5, the sweet selection was really good but the prosecco was flat and the sandwiches were quite unimaginative. The ladies who did mine and my husband massage and facials were outstanding and very thorough. They really are an asset to this hotel and spa and made us both feel comfortable in these unsettling times. The pool and jacuzzi areas were super clean and we enjoyed the practically empty facilities! We'll be back for sure.

We booked a room for two nights at this hotel to celebrate my birthday in late August. On entering the room we were aware of a very noisy bathroom extractor fan which ran continuously when the bathroom lights were switched off. We reported this to reception shortly after occupying the room asking when will it switch off, ''in the night'' was the rather vague reply. We reported this problem again early evening this time reception said it will switch off between 9 and 10pm and if it didn't report back to them. The fan was still on at 10.15pm still running continuously sounding like a vacuum cleaner, we tried to contact reception but they were now closed. We made contact with two members of staff who visited our room, agreed the fan was very noisy but couldn't offer another room as they were fully booked. At 11.15pm we left the hotel and drove home as sleep would be nigh on impossible with that fan droning on. Subsequently my wife contacted the hotel asking for a refund but the manager responsible proved elusive to talk to, however when she was finally tracked down she offered another stay at the hotel which we certainly didn't want, just our money back. An email sent to the hotel reception pointing out our complaints has been completely ignored. We have stayed at this hotel twice in the past having a very enjoyable time, however this latest experience has been awful. Suffice to say that was one ruined birthday.

We visited the hotel in order for my wife to use the spa facilities, have a pedicure etc etc. Unfortunately the steam room and sauna room both closed due to COVID, which is no fault of the hotels of course. My wife enjoyed her swim and pedicure so was happy until we went for some food upstairs. You would think a hotel the size of this and the amount of golfers coming in and out there'd be decent food too. Wrong. The menu was limited with only a few options, we decided to go for the pizzas something that would be easy to prepare fresh. When our £12 pizzas arrived on fancy chopping boards I can almost guarantee they were frozen at the time of ordering, looking very familiar to something I might buy at a supermarket. Either reduce your prices or serve freshly prepared food.

Stayed in one of the cottages on site and found the location excellent the cottages are well fitted out but seemed a bit spartan probably due to Covid. Hotel building is quite dated but very clean and good Covid precautions in place. The pool is very good and we visited the restaurant twice with our family party including one vegan who was impressed when given her own menu with choices. The menu changed each time we visited and all the food very good. Restaurant staff friendly and service excellent

Enjoyable stay, although disappointing that more effort hadn't been taken to make up for necessary absence of some facilities (including the entire main bar). For example, it wouldn't take much to install a TV in the only open bar. The golf course is good, playable and a challenge for all abilities. Hotel staff were welcoming and friendly throughout; shame the same couldn't be said about some of those in the golf pro shop. Good covid-safe procedures seemed to be in place with an abundance of signage, but not enough attention was being paid to some of the basics, such as regular cleaning of surfaces (tables, chairs, door handles, etc.). The interior of the hotel is nice enough but the exterior is in desperate need of renovation, with rotting facia boards, broken & blocked guttering and various flora growing from the roofs.

What a disappointment. There were only two good things. The staff (though too few of them) and they had done the bathrooms up. The rest of the hotel needed a refurbish. There were seats in the sitting area falling apart, tables damaged. They had bought some chaiirs - but thwey were in flat packs, so they were buying the cheapest they could. Food was OK but nothing special. think they were using Covid as an excuse not to do things. Even more remarkable as it was clear that my room had not been sanitized properly. Never again!

I think this is a great place to stay in the middle of picturesque Dartmouth. It is a lovely hotel next to a huge beautiful golf course. The hotel itself is Good in some elements for instance the breakfast was delicious and served with a smile, the rooms were good especially the valley suite. I was pleasantly surprised to find a swimming pool 4'8ft deep and when you get out of the pool there is a jacuzzi for 16 and above. You can book spar treatments plus there is a gym. I would highly recommend staying here

Hotel fine but more for the sport, golf person. If like golf then a good place to stay. Staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean and did the Covid bit fine. Breakfast the best meal there, pool good bit no children between 10am And 4pm. Will need to drive out to do any thing (apart from golf). Thanks

Beautiful photos, clearly taken many years ago in the hotel's former glory though! This has clearly become a very unloved and dilapidated hotel since, and in need of a great deal of TLC! In summary, very outdated and tired decor, stuffy rooms with no climate control, and not even a fan, just a window that opens approximately 10cm to stop you suffocating in the heat of the room (we visited on quite a cold and wet weekend too, so those staying the week before in the heatwave must've been sweltering!). We asked for a fan and were told we had to join a waiting list for one, then when those guests lucky enough to have a fan checked out, we asked again at reception for one of their fans, only to be told they'd already been allocated, so us and our 1year old baby would just have to continue to put up with the stifling heat. The bathroom, supposedly cleaned to a whole new 'covid safe' level before our arrival was worryingly dirty with hairs around the toilet and bath edge, and we were told that "due to covid your rooms won't be serviced during your stay" so after we'd used all of the one toilet roll allocated for our 3 nights, we had to travel to reception to request another roll, and even empty our own bins from the room! Oh and then to add insult to injury, the toilet roll holder fell off the wall in the bathroom through a lack of maintenance, so the 'precious' singular toilet roll was soaked through from the oversplash from the sink, also because there weren't enough towels allocated so to have one that we could use as a floor towel. The most worrying factor was the temperature of the water in the rooms though, turn the hot tap on and you could've made a cup of tea with the hot water coming out at force, and not a warning sign in sight! Absolutely horrendous!! I burnt my hand, and thankfully I did, before my young child suffered a much worse fate!! On check-out day we were running slightly over time to get out of the room by 10:30, simply because the room was too blooming hot to be able to think straight to work out what needed to go in what bag whilst entertaining our baby, so the call from the snotty receptionist to not-so-subtley ask if I was housekeeping when I answered the room phone, then to say well you do know you should have been out 10 minutes ago, didn't exactly enhance our experience in any way. In fact, upon checking out, I can only compare speaking to the receptionist like talking to the character off little Britain who looks at you blankly and says "Computer Says No!". Unfortunately things weren't much better up in the bar and restaurant either with one particular staff member who'd clearly been forced to work a very long 12+hr shift, and whom would rather be anywhere else but serving guests. He was quite simply a misery and made simple requests for drinks and food seem like we were asking a great deal! It obviously doesn't help communication matters when we're all having to wear masks, stand 2m apart, and constantly wash/gel our hands etc, but some establishments have managed to reopen and 'welcome' guests whilst following the government safety regulations, whereas this hotel was way OTT with the yellow hazard tape and signage, and completely underwhelming in terms of a friendly welcome. As with any hotel or place to visit, you can always forgive a somewhat disappointingly 'tired' venue providing that the staff are friendly, warm and welcoming, but unfortunately here, this was not the case. We wouldn't normally take the time to write a negative review about a venue, as have better things to be doing with our time, and would rather be praising a place that we've stayed at, but having stayed here before a number of times over the years, it was definitely noticeable just how tired and unloved this property has sadly become, and in it's current state, we will not be making a return visit. On a positive note though, we'd like to add that the breakfast staff were more pleasant, and when I managed to track down two housekeepers, they were at least helpful and polite.

Large room with a comfortable bed. We did not take breakfast. The hotel is located in the middle of the Dartmouth Golf Club so the surroundings are attractive. COVID 19 aware and easy to follow one way systems in place.

This was my second stay since October 19 and it was a very pleasant stay good safety procedures in place staff were friendly and polite very good food I had a most enjoyable stay lots of room in the car park I didn't try the spa

Enjoyed our spa experience here. The ladies who did our massages were fantastic. Nice lunch on the terrace and friendly chap behind the bar. The spa was nice and quiet which was relaxing however could benefit from some cushions on the loungers for comfort

Difficult to provide a meaningful review during current restrictions. Location of hotel is rather remote, requiring a 5/6 mile drive into Dartmouth. If not a taxi will cost £13.00 each way. Breakfast options were limited.

We rented 'The Willows' - one of the privately owned lodges on site. It was a superb property - well equipped, spotlessly clean and all very Covid-compliant. We used hotel reception twice to book Taxis - Dee was superbly helpful and booked appropriately for our needs. I was travelling by train and her knowledge and the relationships they have with local taxi firms really came to the fore here. It was a bit of a sad end that when I went to the hotel to sit for my Taxi on the day of departure that gleaning information from the receptionist on duty at the time was painful - and at one point it looked as if I;d be sitting in the car park for an hour. I did eventually manage to get coffee and sit on the balcony but can understand why other reviewers have commented that the facilities upstairs are dated. Its a lovely place in a beautiful setting and the green keeps are clearly masters of their role.

Christopher who served our breakfast to us was absolutely lovely and a real asset to the hotel. He stood out from everyone with his friendly and accomodating nature. Hotel was ideal for a few days away visiting Dartmouth and the surrounding area. Ideal for golfers and business trips too. Food choice was OK although a wider range of food would have been better (i know Covid has meant a smaller menu but unfortunately many of the food options weren't to our taste). Spa was basic but nice for a jacuzzi and dip in the pool.

Our Sat Nav tried to take us to a village nearby, a common problem according to the reception staff but otherwise easy to find from Totnes, just stay on the A3122 Dartmouth road. Spacious rooms with a lovely view over the golf course. Pool and gym were OK but sauna and steam room were shut due to Covid. Breakfast was good, easy parking, short drive to Dartmouth, Totnes or the coast at Slapton, Blackpool or Torcross

A short break in Devon to escape the claustrophobia of COVID restrictions led to a very pleasant stay. As you would expect the hotel was not in normal operation, with one way arrows all over the place rivalling Custer's last stand. One observation was that the arrows did not create a logical flow. Arrows clearly pointed to which patio doors to go through to get out to the terrace, but there were no arrows outside telling which one to go back in (and yes you have guessed it, it was the one you didn't come out of). The restaurant was well set up with socially distanced tables having moved dining from it's usual place to the ballroom. The staff all wore visors, sanitary hand gel was well positioned around the hotel and the staff were all extremely helpful. I was disappointed that I could not charge anything to my room and each night payment had to be made by card. I understand why, but it would help cut down interaction with the card machines. All in all my wife and I felt safe and would certainly return, COVID or not. Good value for money.

I've stayed there before, but you never know if standards acan be maintained. Not disappointed, the staff are wonderful, Charlotte, restaurant manager is so helpful and kind, Christopher in the restaurant is so funny and lovely, I could go on. They have done a fabulous job of making it Covid safe. We felt very happy there, very safe and fabulous food. Given the present difficulties, they are doing a fantastic job of making the stay lovely. Went into the spa, very clean, as was our room. We will be back!

Purchased a voucher from groupon for a rasul mud treatment, use of the facilities and lunch for 2 people. The lady on the spa reception was really friendly and helpful as was my therapist Georgia. We started with the rasul mud treatment, neither of us had tried it before and it was fun but I probably wouldn't book it again. The facilities were nice and very clean. Unfortunately the steam room & sauna were out of use but we could still use the pool & jacuzzi. The pool was quite busy when we arrived but once we had finished our treatments we only had to share it all with one other person.( We went mid morning) I added on a raindrop massage for both of us which I highly recommend. I wish I had booked the 60min treatment now, it was so relaxing. The lunch side kind of let it down. Lunch was meant to be included but we were told the kitchen wasn't doing food so it would have to be an afternoon tea which was to be booked 24hrs beforehand. The restaurant had no atmosphere and was really dated. (Saying this all the staff we encountered in the restaurant were extremely friendly!) The cream tea was a bit of a let down, the scone was probably the best part on it. It consisted of 3 small dry cheese sandwich fingers, scone with jam & cream then a small toffee tart and 2 little square cakes that reminded me of what they used to serve at school. The voucher cost £79 which is great value for both of us, but I wouldn't of been happy if I'd paid the £200 for it. I would 100% recommend the spa though.

If your looking for a relaxing spa get away this is not the place to do it. Pre stay I was advised to book in a time for our treatments the lady on the phone suggested 3pm and even though I questioned this as check is not till 3pm, I was assured the rooms are ready by 2.30pm and we would have time to check in, pop our bags in our rooms and get changed. This was not the case. As we got to reception and asked if our room was ready we got a very blunt no, to which we were told to ‘go and have a coffee' when I explained that we had two treatments booked and would we not end up being late for them ? We got another very blunt reply of ‘ no just check in after'. We were not nicely greeted nor we were told where to ‘get a coffee'. Once at the spa the receptionist was lovely and chatty. But once we went into the changing rooms - having not been able to check in and drop our bags off - we came unstuck with needing a £1 coin for the locker which is another inconvenience that could of been avoided if we able to check in when I was told. We decide to have two back massages, mine was lovely and the masseuse was lovely. However when my treatment finished my partner didn't come out for another 20-25 minutes, both the receptionist and other masseuse wondered why. To which they had to pop a sign under the door saying only 30 mins treatment ! An extra long treatment would of been a bonus had my partner actually got what he requested. Instead of a calming massage he had a full body scrub which wasn't even washed/rinsed off him properly. As his masseuse got her time slot wrong he only received half of his treatment, hot rocks were on the side ready to go, but instead of carrying on she just told him she was getting him a glass of water and walked off. My partner had no idea the treatment had even finished... After spa treatment we had to get changed back into our clothes (as we were not given robes and slippers) and went to our room, to which there were no robes or slippers there either. When I rang reception to ask, she advised ‘we are only a three star hotel, they should of given you them at the spa but I don't really know what the procedure is now'. Which meant we had to walk through the hotel in our swimming costumes to the pool that was full of children jumping off the side and screaming. There was a sign saying no diving but no staff enforcing it. Pool and jacuzzi were luke warm. It is to be noted we complained at reception and we were told ‘it can only get better'. Which is besides the point when you've paid money for a SPA break and the SPA section of your stay was rushed and not what you asked for nor what is remotely relaxing and infect stressful. We are not the type to make a fuss and this is the first time we've ever complained anywhere, but our experience was so under whelming and disappointing. This isn't to discredit that things obviously have to be done differently now due to the current circumstances but known of the problems we had were related to COVID procedures. My partner was offered another treatment for the next morning at 10am but who's going to want a massage straight after breakfast? Overall a huge waste of a weekend as we've come away not relaxed and not feeling like we got value for money what so ever. This is not a place for a spa get away.

whilst the hotel and golf was excellent, my friends had the standard 3 course meal which was very good, however 2 of us upgraded to have a sirloin steak and both agreed probably the worst steak we have been served. Very chewy and not at all tender.

Booked a four night break before the pandemic broke out so was surprised and happy we were able to visit the hotel even though there were some restrictions in place due to covid, do not follow sat nav guidence as its not correct around the area, room ready on arrival, lovely and spacious with large bathroom and lovely views, buffet breakfast was not in place but the to order system was in place and worked very well, it was nice to be served anyway, nothing too much trouble for the staff, we found Christopher to be very jolly which brightened a couple of our mornings, had evening meal on first night which was basic but appriciated under the circumstances, swimming pool and spa were closed which was dissapointing because it was one of the main reasons we booked this hotel, but understandable, although it had what was a very nice golf coarse that was not of interest to us, we will definatley return at some point hopefiully when the hotel is fully open.

Excellent holiday break for my wife's birthday. Friendly efficient staff. Perfect setting in beautiful Devonshire countryside. As golfers the pro shop was well stocked with a large variety of golf equipment

With all that's gone in the world you'd have thought, a little bit of Leniency and helping people out would be a nice gesture. Taking with us is 2 people over 75 who are as you'd expect are very worried about the holiday, so with deep regret we had to cancel, was hoping to move to next year but no chance, no help no help with allowing us to re schedule, no refund of deposit, no nothing, on this basis I'd not recommend and would certainly never book again with Best Western. In these time people want & need help.

Booked a four night break before the pandemic broke out so was surprised and happy we were able to visit the hotel even though there were some restrictions in place due to covid, do not follow sat nav guidence as its not correct around the area, room ready on arrival, lovely and spacious with large bathroom and lovely views, buffet breakfast was not in place but the to order system was in place and worked very well, it was nice to be served anyway, nothing too much trouble for the staff, we found Christopher to be very jolly which brightened a couple of our mornings, had evening meal on first night which was basic but appriciated under the circumstances, swimming pool and spa were closed which was dissapointing because it was one of the main reasons we booked this hotel, but understandable, although it had what was a very nice golf coarse that was not of interest to us, we will definatley return at some point hopefiully when the hotel is fully open.

Another lovely break , nice rooms with a hearty breakfast to start the day . Great position to explore Dartmouth , only ten minutes from both Dartmouth Town Centre and Blackpool Sands a lovely beach in a great setting. I play a little Golf however this was not the purpose of this trip , but i must say the two courses are first class.

I have just had a 1hr ‘work it out' massage by Katie and now feel AMAZING!! During the Covid-19, I didn't think it would be the usual experience but to my surprise it was no different. Katie was very good and with the right amount of pressure needed. All my working from home and travel stresses are a thing of the past. I highly recommend you book yourself in for tour next stay. Thank you Katie!!!

Stayed here a number of times for golf breaks and always found it reasonable value for money, nice little spa (quite small but adequate) and comfy rooms, especially now the bathrooms have been given a makeover. The reason it's only an average review is the food and drink. Both have gone downhill on my last two visits. Utterly bizarrely for a golf club, a club sandwich doesn't exist on the menu and the former excellent pint of Tribute is absent - most probably for a cheaper beer. The food now served is nothing more than standard fare with breakfast in particular nothing to get excited about. Seems like the venue's sale to Best Western has seen a slide in quality which is a shame.

Me and my friend booked a weekend break. It was so relaxing and chilled. Wasnt too busy and the treatments were amazing. The food in the restaurant is a set menu and price but the food was brilliant and worth the cost. Staff in all areas were great with customer service would highly recommend and am already looking at my next stay

Had a great stay at the Dartmouth Hotel, the weather was terrible, but the staff and facilities had a warm welcome, lovely evening meal in the restaurant. Bathroom needs a little updating, but overall lovely hotel.

My friend and I visited the hotel for a girly spa break over the February half term. We really enjoyed our stay and found a spa deal on the woucher app. The break was worth the money we spent. The initial welcome was ok albeit brief.we didn't get any info on the spa etc. Although on checking out Dee was at the desk and she was more than helpful, if only she was there on day 1. Room.- our room was clean with a lovely view of the surrounding country side. The toilet and shower was clean and was cleaned daily with fresh towels. Where our room was situated was just near the restaurant on that level. It was very noisy during the evening and we could hear noise from rooms above us. The beds however were comfortable and there is a heater in the room if it is cold. Food. The breakfast was ok, not the best cooked breakfast and some of the bar and restaurant staff seemed grumpy but Charlie was always happy and willing to help. The evening meals were more tasty and the portion sizes were really good. Spa. We really enjoyed this part of our stay. The massage for 30 mins is priced at £39 and I initially thought this was a bit pricy but it was well worth every penny. Jenny the beauty therapist was excellant. I felt totally relaxed and pampered after my massage. I wish I had phoned the spa in advance to find out the less busiest times as 9-10:30 am and 4pm to 6pm are busy and buzzing with children and parents. Avoid these times if you just want peace and serenity. The spa staff were always polite and happy to answer questions. The steam room was a tad dirty but I did see the therapists clean this area so it maybe a build up of people going in and out. The gym also was really good and had enough equipment for a good work out. Over all we would stay here again and I felt we had value for money.

Overall a good enjoyable stay. Charlie was very helpful in the restaurant, as was Dee from reception. The room was cold as the heater didn't work but we did get an electric heater so that helped. The room was noisy and a constant banging of doors was heard. The restaurant was good. Breakfast very nice as was the evening meal. Our disappointment was we were unable to experience the spar as they were all booked up and not being able to have a game of golf but that was due to the weather. We would return

My sister and I booked a spa break joined by my brother and friend a day later... the staff were lovely, so accommodating and friendly especially the Bar and bistro staff who went above and beyond (and worked such long hours but still smiled) the spa staff and cleaners were also friendly. The rooms were tidy and clean. The only problem we had was that the rooms were noisy and could benefit from sound proofing...

Excellent spa facilities,with lots of places to use,steam room,sauna,jacuzzi,good power shower, the beds were very comfortable,good shower in room,big room, good choice of food in the restaurant,great breakfast, friendly staff who worked well together,good customer service,good welcome at reception,all in all a good 3 star hotel,

My mum bought us a night in this hotel to use the spa and have a break. The hot tub was cold, the sauna was cold, the pool was cold. The lights in our corridor/room were intermittent, and there are no tea/coffee facilities in the room. It is £1 for a game of pool - why advertise a games room if it is extra? Prices at the bar are insane - I realize this is a hotel, but it feels more as though the hotel knows you can't go anywhere else. Staff are ok, but hit and miss. Wouldn't go again or recommend.

This is what happened on our 2nd Visit 2 visits 2 incidents Not I would just like to to explain our annoyance with the water leak at the Lodge. If I can point out that this is our second visit to the lodges and the 3rd incident we have encountered. On our 1st Visit. The curtain rail fell off the wall and hit my son on the head causing bruising and pain. The shower on the 1st floor leaked as I was using the downstairs toilet and flooded it along with tripping the electrics as the water was pouting through the light fitting. We reported both of these incidents and although we had the inconvenience of having to move lodges at 8.30 in the evening nothing was ever done about these 2 complaints, so as you can now understand my comment of it being brushed under the carpet. Our Second visit resulted in yet another shower leaking all over bed room 2 soaking the bed, my father-in-law laws clothes his hold all and the carpet, we had to run around for an hour and a half soaking up the waterfall that was coming through the roof along with trying to complete our Xmas meal. There was no one available at the Hotel to assist with this at all and we had to make good the flooding and use the majority of towels we had which were only replaced on Boxing Day. We were offered an alternative lodge as you suggested but that would of meant us moving all our belongings, presents, Xmas meal etc which would have taken over an hour to do, we were also told the following day that there was not a lodge available either the previous day as you were full so I don't see how you could have facilitated this. Thank you for the kind offer of some rooms and breakfast in the hotel, but this I Offer just contradicted the fact that we wanted to be together as a family at Xmas which we couldn't have been as we would of had separate rooms in the hotel. May I also thank you for the gesture of good will in the bottle of wine we received. My annoyance is with the fact that there was no emergency help available over the Xmas period so please explain what would have happened in a crisis and who would we have contacted after the hotel had closed, surely this is a safety breach which you are responsible for and I will be checking with the relevant authorities. The handy man did arrive around 3pm on Boxing Day although I was promised he would be there first thing, so as you can see my frustration with Dartmouth Hotels promises. To sum it up, both experiences of our stays with you have been below standard, not what we expected or paid for. Still not had a reply to my last email over 3 weeks ago poor show.

Superb location. So close to the beautiful town of Dartmouth. Room large, bed comfy and very big. Bathroom clean if a little dated. First floor room.New showerrooms on ground floor however. Lovely food but supplements were a steep! Great efficient staff.

After a wonderful trip to Woodlands across the road my family decided a meal in the golf club would be lovely especially as we had seen signs saying 'kids eat free'. We arrived at the golf club to be told only the bar menu was available and even some of that was not available so an extremely limited choice. However, we thought at least kids eat free. Upon ordering at the bar we were told we would need a voucher. Obviously vouchers weren't advertised on the sign at Woodlands. I feel like the whole deal is completely mis-sold and am extremely disappointed. It was such a shame to end our amazing morning with such average bar food which was in fact quite pricey. Would not recommend. Staff also were very unhelpful and not at all with the Christmas cheer! It being 22nd Dec!!

We went on a deal. Very pleased with our two night stay. The hotel is located in a pleasant rolling hilly countryside which was the base for the two golf courses. The golf did look tempting!!!. We enjoyed the breakfast and dinner. It was good value. The rooms were clean, tidy and comfortable with a massive double bed. The spa was very nice. The pool is not not very big but more than adequate for the occasional paddler. Good jacuzzi and sauna. The steam room was not working but did not miss it. There was also a gym which seemed to be well used. The journey to either Dartmouth or Totnes was relatively short by car with both towns well worth a visit. The staff, especially the catering staff, were very pleasant and helpful.

Initial meet & greet very disappointing with miserable spa reception staff who seemed to treat myself & partner as an inconvenience disturbing their gossip. The whole reception staff seemed to be suffering from colds, which included the masseuse who constant sniffed and wiped her nose with the back of her hand, then proceeded to massage oils into my back with the same hand... Restaurant staff were extremely helpful and friendly , especially Adriana. Unfortunately the bar staff at the restaurant (Neil/Phil?) Could have been more silken and reluctant to serve anyone. Very good facilities at the spa but the whole day was spoilt by poor customer service and staff attitudes.

The rooms were well appointed and spotlessly clean. The shower was wonderful. The view from the room across the golf course was lovely. The food was very good and well priced. The spa exceeded our expectations. We regret not staying longer!

Stayed two nights very pleasant and clean room good breakfast and dinner the servers were excellent really enjoyed staying here However on checking out I was charged for my food however I was on a inclusive dinner bed and breakfast rate after much “ discussion “ I was somewhat reluctantly given a credit of some £ 32 very disappointing and took the edge off my stay

Stayed here a few times now over the past few years. Always enjoyable and the staff are exceptional. Both the championship and the 9 hole courses are a delight to play although can get busy at times. Highly recommended and good value for money.

Nice comfortable room. Really impressed with the food it was excellent. Lovely friendly staff. Beautiful surroundings shame about the weather ☔ will definitely come again. Perhaps in the summer or spring.

This is a great and good value place to stay whilst visiting Dartmouth.If you enjoy glof also an excellent course, the SPA and leisure are great. Taxi from here to Dartmouth is £30.00 or a short 4 mile drive both of which we did.

I visited the spa on 18th October with my mum for a birthday treat.The spa was very clean and the reception staff were welcoming. We were met by our therapists to discuss our treatments. I chose the Drift Away massage and the Totally Quenched and Drenched facial including an eye treatment and my mum had the Raindrop massage and also had the Totally Quenched and Drenched facial. We were taken to the treatment rooms which were peaceful, calm and tranquil. My therapist, Kresh, was very professional but also friendly and was very informative about the products she was using and why she was using them. My mum's therapist, Sally was also friendly and attentive. The Temple Spa products used were lovely and we both felt totally relaxed with glowing skin after the treatments, so much so that my mum has several products on her Christmas wish list! We will definitely be visiting the spa again!

On arriving didn,t find the exterior of the hotel very attractive but on going inside we were greeted by delightful staff which continued throughout our stay.The interior could probably benefit from updating but couldn,t fault the cleanliness.The food was excellent ,we had bed and breakfast and dinner on two nights.If we come to the area again will definitely stay again

Very clean, no traffic noise at all, good food & excellent pool & spa. Golf course looks very good as well. Good locally sourced fish dishes in the evening menu. Superb breakfast . Loads of parking spaces. Sauna is very hot

This was our second visit to this Best Western hotel and again it was very enjoyable. The hotel is situated 4 miles outside Dartmouth. Our room was large, clean and comfortable with two easy chairs so we didn't have to it on the bed in the evening. Breakfast is extensive and we had two dinners with our package. They were tasty, good choice and service excellent. This is a golf hotel and we did not play any golf, choosing instead to do the tourist things but obviously there are individual golfers and small groups who are not a problem. However we were unfortunate to have a very large group of society golfers on our first night who took over the bar, restaurant and were very noisy. Having said that, the staff made sure that individuals and couples were well looked after. There was a a smaller group the second night, also rather noisy but this did not really spoil our stay.

From start to finish of our weekend stay for wedding the staff could not have been more helpful. The room was clean and tidy and as we were getting ready when they came to clean they were more then happy to come back at a later time. The food at the wedding was amazing and very good portions. The breakfast had good quality ingredients and was cooked to order. On our last morning, we had overslept due to a late night and had missed the breakfast. "We will make you up a sandwich to takeaway" was the response fro the very helpful restaurant manager, who by co-incidence had bee on duty the previous night at the wedding. Such a helpful and calm member of staff. I will be back with friends to sample the spa.

I stayed in this Best Western Hotel for one night. It is several miles from the town of Dartmouth and was obviously suited to those who are golfers. I did make use of the nice swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna. The bedroom was comfortable and clean but it would have been nice to have a fridge with drinking water as is usual in many other Best Western hotels I have used. The dinner and breakfast were ok but nothing special. If visiting Dartmouth again, I would probably stay nearer the centre of things in the town where there are plenty of restaurants to choose from.

Great hotel, food of a high standard, friendly & polite staff. Golf course long & challenging with fabulous views of Dartmouth. Very relaxing break & feel like your miles from anywhere. Weather varied from sunshine to heavy winds & rain, but still enjoyable.

We were guests at a wedding on the 5th October 2019. Firstly what a stunning room, balloons on every table and a huge ring behind the top table. Sadly the food was not up to its usual standard. Due to poor timing by the happy couple having their photos taken away from the club itself we were left waiting for our food and it was finally served nearly 2 hours late. Very difficult to get 80 meals ready at the same time without a two hour delay. What we had was lovely, although the veg had turned a bit watery, the roast potatoes were no longer crispy and the creme brulee had gone beyond its best. The staff were fabulous, special mention to Charlie, Nathan and Claire who despite the difficulties maintained a cheerful demeanor and were helpful to all. With the food being served so late there was not much call for the evening buffet which smelt wonderful. Well done to all.

Our third stay this year and nice to be recognised by a couple of the staff. Our room on the ground floor overlooking the golf course was very clean as always, the bed comfortable (although the pillows could be better quality). A request for extra heating for the room as my husband's illness and age means he feels the cold was quickly dealt with. The hotel is in a lovely setting and the peace and tranquility here is hard to beat. The food is generally well prepared with a good choice. Breakfast choice is excellent. We shall be back to visit again in the near future.

I recently got married at the Dartmouth hotel and myself and the vast majority of our guests had an amazing day. The food was exactly what we ordered, the TUNA was amazing and cooked to perfection, pink in the middle. I personally thanked Rob the head chef as I had so many comments about how nice the food was. Charlie was exceptional and did everything she could all day to help. She sat and calmed my nerves in the buggy while we had our photos, Liased with me all evening about what we needed to do and at what times, she even came and found me to say bye when she left and wished me well which meant the world. Dee on reception also was popular with the guests with my father in law saying I must tell you all how excellent she was. Any issues I have had have been dealt with quickly and our day ran without any major hiccups thanks to the staff. On behalf of myself and the Hopkins family a brilliant day was had by all.

I attended a wedding here recently and must say that I was completely disgusted and appalled at the Resort for the following reasons. Set in the grounds of a lovely golf course nestles this resort and to be honest this is the only highlight I was attending a wedding and at first all guests met in the bar for pre ceremony drinks and this was the start of a very poor service offered there. The bar staff were on some sort of bonus scheme for the drinks as the difference charged by the staff on each round purchased by our group changed each time. Ranging from low £40's to in excess of £60 for the same drinks all day. The staff also were spotted on numerous occasions being asked for double measures of spirits and serving singles then saying oh you want a double double. Each optic was a single measure serving!!! The ceremony was lovely but the bar staff serving the Buck's Fizz were rude ignorant or helpful when people wanted just a small Prosecco The food served at the wedding breakfast was raw undercooked and to be honest not very appetising and the waiting on staff where not watching the service or trying to help the guests on 3 occasions plates and cutlery were asked for and yet the waiting on staff just brought more food out. People were waiting and the food was left to get cold. Another thing the simple thought of allowing teas and coffees to be given to guests after the meal sorry not allowed you have to buy separately. Some wedding guests felt this was a bit poor form. Overall the family gathering was enjoyable the staff and food leaves a lot to be desired Guests stayed in the lodges on the grounds and found none of them came with tea or coffee making facilities and on top of that nowhere in the booking confirmation or on the website does it state that you have to book and pay for breakfast or an evening meal so some of the guests were left without any meals after traveling long distances Overall Best Western need to look into the price irregularities, the menus offered and the staff's attitude because for the prices charged it seems they are only interested in making money and not giving paying guests any thought or concerns to their needs If you wish to enjoy playing or enjoying the spa breaks this might be a good place to visit avoid if you wish to have a wedding here

Had a lovely weekend away. Looked after well by all the staff. Room was very spacious & well cleaned. Will recommend & look forward to coming back. Golf course was tough in the 50mph winds but was a great test.

I don't normally write reviews but I always refer to them before booking somewhere to stay or eat. But I felt the reception I had at the desk on arrival was quite rude and wanted to prewarn those staying. I stayed at the hotel for 1 night on business. When I arrived I wasn't greeted with a smile, or a “welcome to the hotel”. In fact I had to say excuse me as they sat there ignoring me. I was told “your name isn't on any booking so you can't stay” ... I explained it had been booked through work but I had the confirmation email somewhere. I was definitely named as the guest. They explained “well we aren't expecting anyone fitting your description” I asked her to look again, this time with my confirmation email in her hand and she said my company have booked it wrong. I later realised that meant my colleague had booked it in his name, however had named me as a guest. There was no, “enjoy your stay” or “let me have a look at this for you” or anything like this. I had to ask times of breakfast/ dinner etc as the information wasn't offered to me and directions to the rooms etc. Such a shame as the restaurant food was excellent and their staff were warm, friendly and very helpful. Positives Food was wonderful and the restaurant staff were really friendly and helpful. Negatives Hotel is a little run down and the receptionist was rude.

The cottage was well equipped and had everything you could need, it was also well laid out. It was nice having a small garden to sit in and balcony seating areas. However, the beds were very uncomfortable and although the cottage was perfectly clean the living room curtains and windows were not very clean and spoilt the overall look. The pool area in the hotel was adequate.

Stayed for one night with my Mother. Hotel is a few miles outside Dartmouth and set by a Golf course, with stunning views. Room was good, overlooking the course. Breakfast was plentiful with a good choice and there is a varied bar and dinner menu. We made use of the pool and spa which was really nice. Yes hotel is a bit dated in parts but for the money it is excelkent value. The staff, from reception to waiters were all really/ helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Had a last minute 4 night break, staying for the first time. Very pleased with location, room very clean and comfortable. Food good (Mussels especially rcommended) All staff pleasant an helpful, will stay again.

Booked a surprise wedding anniversary weekend for my husband and myself. Room was very good, breakfast was great and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Made full use of the spa and had a very relaxing massage. Would definitely stay again.

This is our third year at Dartmouth, the course is in superb condition, we play four times over four days and never get bored of it. What a challenge especially the 4th. We all used buggies as it is a challenge to walk. This year we stayed in the lodges for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed them. They are well maintained and have everything you'd need. My only comment is that in the room i stayed in there was no shower, not a game changer just used the shower in the room next to us. Have to say the food in the clubhouse seems to have gone up a notch definitely worth eating in the restaurant and lunch options are very good. It would be nice to be able to get a bar snack after 6pm as an option to a sit down menu. As a large group I'm in regular contact with reception, thanks goes to Roxy for all the help and organising. Perfect stay, already booked in for next year.

My wife and I throughly enjoyed our 3 night stay- food excellent and waiter service helpful and attentive.Room perfectly adequate and comfortable.Excellent base for touring the area.Would happily recommend this hotel.

Excellent hotel and championship golf course for our annual golf 3 day Ryder Cup challenge. Very courteous and efficient staff, excellent food and very nice bedrooms. The hotel lacks a "Wow" factor though.

I visited with my sister for a two night break. It started reasonably well but the level of service is disappointing. It looked OK from the outside but under the surface it's sadly low budget. We had a twin room which was small but had all we needed. Not a fan of all-in-one shampoo and body wash on the wall - very Premier Inn - but the quality wasn't bad. Hairdryer was next to useless and the air con unit was so poor that we hardly slept the first night. We ran out of toilet roll on the first night and it wasn't replenished. Asked for a supply whilst we sat in the bar having a drink and it was brought to our table! Really??? Breakfast was OK but strangely it was table service on day 1 and buffet style on day 2. Took an age to bring us tea and coffee with a further long wait for the milk! The restaurant manager was nice enough but not completely on the ball. All in all it was an acceptable place for a short stay but not somewhere I'd want to spend a week.

My wife and I stopped by the hotel restaurant a few moths back half way thru a long drive for coffee as we were passing. After ordering a cappuccino and a coffee we waited ages , only to be served eventually with one of the drinks being lukewarm. I complained and got another drink to replace it. Fast forward two months to this weekend and on the same journey we once again pulled in for coffee. Nothing changes! It was not too busy and at the bar the staff member took my money , statted to make the drinks and said she would bring it to the table. I told her we were sitting on the outside balcony and she said Ok. once again a wait of just short of 15 minutes, I walked back inside to see if I had been forgotten and saw our drinks on a tray ontop of the bar. I waited a couple more minutes, observing the staff member who had taken our order, yapping away to another staff member. I went over and immediately the staff member who served ussaid she was just about to bring them out. I took the tray myself. The drinks were not hot but we could not be bothered to sit and wait and re-order.

I took my wife here for her birthday to use the spa and facilities. When we arrived we signed in and decided to eat lunch first. Now this was at 1250 we had a treatment booked for 1400 plenty of time right? WRONG! The waiter Christopher was trying way to hard to make jokes and in my eyes was being rather rude. We waited almost an hour for our food which finally arrived at 1350 so we had 10 minutes to rush our food and get to our treatment. We had the mud treatment which was rather fun the pool, steam room and Jacuzzi were all working and lovely. All in all a nice day out just ruined a bit by the long wait for food.

Over three years we have as a group of 10 seen a decline in the overall appeal of this hotel, which is a shame. New management is needed as we suspect that complacency has set in here.The staff are nice people who need more empathy with their clients, more smiles and more courtesy.. not just a yes or no answer to a question but a real desire to help. How about some decent pillows in the bedrooms and where the carpets are most unpleasant.

Firstly it felt more like a golf club with rooms instead of a hotel that offered golf. Saying that though, despite not being a golfer, we had a great time there and would go back again. Room and public areas were clean and tidy and the pool with sauna and steam room was a bonus. We were initially concerned that it was a bit out of town as we did not know what the food was like. The restaurant had the usual patter about the chef being local and passionate about the produce from the area. However, this time it was no idle boasting. We had planned to eat in Dartmouth some of the time but we found the food so tasty we returned to the hotel each evening for a meal. All the staff we met were welcoming and friendly. We had an idea what we wanted to do during our stay. After talking to Adam, who was keen to share his local knowledge, we quickly had our whole stay planned and had a fantastic break. We used Dartmouth park and ride whilst there to avoid the congestion in town. It is ideally situated a few miles from the hotel and at £5 for the whole day, reasonably priced. If you are not a golfer, do not be put off by the name of the hotel, or you may be missing out on a great break

Spent a few days at the hotel. Main reason for visit was to go to Woodlands Theme park which is really close. The hotel is lovely. We stayed in the village suite. It was comfortable, well equipped and really clean. The pool was great and all the staff we met were really friendly also very accommodating to my grandson who is ASD. The food was amazing both breakfast and the meal we ate in the evening. Will look forward to visiting again.

We have been coming here since the hotel opened and each time we enjoy the quiet and relaxing location of the hotel. The food is excellent...you can eat in the bistro or enjoy a varied 3 course meal in the restaurant. The breakfasts are amazing with lots of choices. The staff are always super friendly, efficient and nothing is too much trouble. The spa is a great place to relax after a day playing golf or sight seeing. My husband plays golf but I don't...so please don't be put off by it being a golf hotel, it's in a lovely quiet location but only 10 minutes from Dartmouth and down the road from Woodlands Adventure Park.

Relaxing quiet environment with friendly welcoming service, excellent food and a great well maintained golf course. Room was clean and had all the facilities you would expect, and en-suite bathroom had clearly had a full upgrade since our previous visit. Enjoyed some relaxing time in the pool and steam room.

My friend and I booked a two night deal at this hotel through living social . From the moment at check in until we left we couldn't complain about our stay ! The staff were all super attentive and helpful, the room was clean and the beds comfortable- giving us a great nights sleep. The room was warm but they provided a fab to allow us to cool it down as soon as we called reception someone brought one to the room within ten minutes . Breakfast was plentiful and cooked freshly . We had a three course dinner and drink with our deal but we didn't manage all three courses ! The swimming pool area was lovely and clean. We both used the spa and found the prices reasonable and the treatments relaxing. We would definitely visit again!

Great golfing stay, however don't go here if you enjoy your sleep, very noisy generally caused by doors slamming all through the night and early morning. Spoke to the person on reception about it and she didn't care

Although we're not golfers this hotel was great for. Short trip to Dartmouth and the surrounding areas. if you love golf the courses look excellent. Enjoyed a lovely meal in the restaurant and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Room and bed very comfy as well.

The Hotel was easy to find (with a Sat Nav) and on arrival at reception, checked in , asked for help with luggage as I had to attend to my mother in a wheelchair.The porter helped with these to the rooms...of which I was very grateful,nothing was too much trouble for him :) . We only had breakfasts for the duration of our stay which were very good. The internet connection was almost non existent... guess that's due to the land ...very hilly.....was expecting to have a mini fridge in the room.... but no.... We did have a wonderful stay all in all as my brother got married.... so no real time to nit pick lol.

I have put this at very good for an overall rating as to be fair for what we went to Dartmouth for (which was Golf) this hotel is outstanding for. The current Sunday driver deal of £99, two rounds, DBB, accomodation and full use of the facilitys is an excellent deal, and gets people to the hotel on what is no doubt given the location a quiet night. That may not be around long so get it whilst they have it if a Sunday is available to you. The Room was excellent, great bed and shower. The Food was brilliant both Breakfast and Dinner (poss too large a portion of Creme Brulee in fact) and the golf course EXCELLENT. I had a short use of the Spa as well and the Sauna and Steam room were excellent. I didn't use the pool but it was well used. Some of the building outside needs a paint and there are a few shabby areas. These need addressing as they look poor and detract. There is a great outside balcony and was well used on our very hot weekend that we were there. Some of the staff are excellent....some are "phoning in" their customer service. A manager needs to give all the weekend staff some information about the golf course, as i asked one behind the bar if the course came back to the hotel so i could get a drink half way, and he had no idea. This is a golf hotel and ALL the staff need some basic golfing knowledge in my opinion. As a first time visitor, a staff member not knowing or seem to have any interest in one of the main activitys at the hotel is poor. Most of the other staff excellent if some a bit to officious to the other staff. I found and saw though the staff being very friendly to guests so its not as poor as some other reviews on here. I am though going to put service only at average below which actually is a little unfair. Just something to improve and keep an eye on. I know the location is a bit remote but the WIFI is poor, in the rooms and general areas (except the Spa reception). Please improve this as poor WIFI in a hotel of this standard is not good. But overall i really enjoyed my two day stay here and if you are a golfing group (at any time of the week) you will get a nice place to stay and a very challenging course. The final par 3 in paticular is a great challenge.

Stayed in one of the cottages and would highly recommend or a relaxing family break. Comfortable and well equipped. Nice views and swimming pool and tennis courts a plus. Well located for exploring south Devon. Would return.

Customer service ZERO points. Hard beds. Two hour check-in wait without so much as a complimentary coffee offered. Definitely a golf hotel and not a luxury spa hotel. More like a motel. Over priced. Left two nights early and wished we left the first day!

So the reason for my trip down to Devon was not a happy one but nonetheless the hotel was a welcome respite after a long and hot 6 hour journey. Taxi from Totnes railway station £20. The receptionist was welcoming even though it was late evening. No check ins available after 10pm as the reception is closed. Went to my room which was a pleasant surprise. Lovely room with a huge double bed, bay windows with just trees outside but that was nice as it gave me a peaceful night sleep ... that is apart from other guests slamming the doors. Anyway the room and bathroom was lovely. Full bathroom and tea and coffee facilities with biscuits - hurrah ! Next morning, time for breakfast - with views over the golf course and the downs - was met by Christopher - a very happy young man, very helpful, served with a smile. So I had my breakfast at 10am, returned to my room to collect my belongings when the phone rang. It was reception telling me, and I quote " you do know check out is at 10.30" ???? So my one and only complaint which was not necessary was being told on phone I was late checking out. I have stayed in many many bigger and better hotels and have never been called at check out time to be told that. So for me that's a mark down on this hotel. The receptionist was quite abrupt too. Would I stay again : yes I would even though she annoyed me. Taxi from Totnes railway station £20.

First things, first, and I know this sounds obvious, but primarily this is a Golf Club. It gives the hotel a certain feel as you are sharing all of the 'common' facilities with the golfers at the club. Not a problem, but makes things a little different. The hotel rooms them selves feel jaded and tired. They look like they were last refurbished in the 90's and are pretty basic in terms of their facilities. This isn't a cheap hotel, so that is quite a disappointment. Let's just say that this doesn't feel like a Spa Hotel. Be warned that the rooms do not have a/c and have a very basic electric radiator if things get chilly. Our room had a beautiful view over the golf course. I suspect there isn't a bad view in the place. The hotel is remote, making it very peaceful, but you will need a car to get anywhere at all. The food in the restaurant was pretty good. I wouldn't say it warranted the description of 'being under the supervision of an executive chef', but it was a reasonable quality with plenty of options on the menu. There was also a good range of wines, and plenty of beers to go at at the bar. The highlight was the bar and restaurant staff. They were very attentive, extremely friendly and very helpful. Couldn't have asked for more from them.

The hotel is for golfers at the tough Dartmouth Championship course. It is too far out of town to be ideal for other pursuits. Clean and comfortable and generally good service. Very good breakfast (please add rolls - just sliced bread is not enough) but dinner was not a culinary masterpiece - just alright.

One again, we had an enjoyable visit to Best Western Dartmouth. Ask for a course view room. They have a great view over the golf course. There are two golf courses, 18 hole championship and the 9 hole Dartmouth. Both courses are very hilly and the championship, in my opinion, definitely needs a buggy. The course is kept in very good condition and we always enjoy playing, on both courses. For a 3 star hotel, it certainly is worth a visit and very good value for money.

The hotel itself is set in beautiful countryside and is kept to a high standard. However the workings within the hotel are sliding over time. Breakfast buffet is limited and infrequently refreshed. The bar menu hasn't been updated for years and the evening 'fresh' menu often repeats the following night. OK for meat eaters, very poor for vegetarians.

My husband and I spent a few hours at this hotel enjoying the mud rasul treatment and lunch, which was given to me as a birthday gift. The staff were friendly and helpful and ensured we were looked after. As we had the treatment booked we had some spare time which we spent by the pool, it was very hot there, someone did open one of the doors later and it was just lovely being able to sit outside for a short while. The mud treatment was good, didn't know what to expect, and the lunch, risotto, was of excellent quality.

I organised a U3A group holiday to Dartmouth and chose The Dartmouth Hotel, Golf & Spa as our base for 4 nights. The rooms were very comfortable, the food was excellent, above what I'd expected and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They worked extremely hard to ensure our stay was enjoyable. This is a great place to base yourself for a holiday in this area of outstanding natural beauty and it didn't disappoint. The pool and spa were an added bonus and the only downside, if you could call it that, was that there were no wonderful walks to go on around the hotel as it is obviously surrounded by the golf course and due to health and safety reasons, we were asked not to wander. Having said that, the area around Dartmouth offered many walks with stunning views of the estuary and coastline. Local attractions included the Dartmouth Steam Railway and River Boat Company, which is a must. We did the Round Robin and it was well worth it.

Our annual golf tour took us to South Devon and this was an obvious place to stay. We've had mixed experiences with Best Western but this is a good one. A bar serving a good range of draught beers, decent rooms (although the extractor fan wasn't working in mine - 206) and a nice terrace overlooking the putting green. Roxy on reception was very helpful, Adam and Nathan on the bar & restaurant couldn't have been more accommodating but creme de la creme were Helen, Chris and Coti at breakfast. Three of us went to the local park run on Saturday and they managed to rustle up a late breakfast out of nowhere. Plus the golf course is really good! Unless you're fit you might need a buggy.

On arriving at the hotel you drive down a welcoming tree lined drive. Down a hill and turning left your greeted by a large car park. The hotel front looks like a factory unit with golf trolleys parked haphazardly in front of the main entrance. The reception area was dark and dingy and painted prison grey. No one at reception only a door bell to attract some one attention , eventually. Rooms were dark and unwelcoming,tea and coffee available in usual hotel quantity and a measly single packet of biscuits to be shared . Bathroom had recently been refurbished to a good modern standard, although no sign to indicate the water was hot enough to boil an egg or more dangerously cause a serious burn to someone. Even the electric towels “ Hot Surface” label was on the floor . Breakfast, be early if you want something from the starter buffet as on both occasions used it looked as if it had been attacked by a plague of locusts! and was not topped up. Main breakfast was plated to order and acceptable . The hotel title gives the impression of somewhat superior to what it actually is and is basically a golfers hotel with a small swimming pool. Premier Inns properties are much more superior to this establishment and makes one wonder how the rooms and facilities commanded our rates of £135.00 night mid week . Would definitely advise anyone not playing golf to get better value for your money elsewhere.

We really enjoyed our stay, hotel had a great view of the golf course. The room was clean & spacious. Only about 3 miles from Dartmouth & a great base for exploring the beautiful countryside. Make sure you do a boat trip to Agatha Christie's house.

The staff are so friendly and helpful. We booked a 2 night Spa break and were allowed access to the spa for 3 days. We didn't leave the hotel as everything was on site, a great restaurant and bar area where you could sit and relax. A lovely spa area with pool, jacuzzi (which I would have preferred to be hotter) steam room, sauna gym and quiet room. One of the best pedicures I have ever had and my husband say it was the best back massage he has had. Even though we don't play golf we had a wonderful time. The rooms and bed are very comfortable, a pleasure to be in. Breakfast was amazing.

We booked 4 nights leading up to our Golden wedding. The room was lovely, overlooking the practice green.The bed was very comfortable. I always find it difficult to sleep on strange pillows and usually take my own, this time I forgot, so I have marked the sleep quality down one notch(probably a little unfair). I am sure most people would be more than happy.We left on the Friday to have the last night at the Hotel where we spent our Wedding night. Wished we had stayed the whole time at Dartmouth Hotel.

Nothing short of exceptional. Very good value for money with excellent and caring service. The golf courses ( Dartmouth and the Championship) were both in pristine condition and challenging and enjoyable.

I found this hotel a few months ago and it looked great for a relaxing break over Easter holidays. Spa Facilities and room very good along with views of countryside. The two nights we were there however, a large golfing party were staying and when we returned from our day out and stopped for a drink in the bar/seating area it was very noisy. The men talking used quite bad language even though my son was in the area and staff didn't feel the need to tell them to stop or quieten down. In the end we had to return to our room. There is no where else in the hotel to sit if you want a drink or coffee. Not really suitable for families if large parties like the one staying with us. Overall a very nice stay. But something for families be mindful of.

Location lovely in hilly Devon. Hotel clean and tidy, not posh but bar staff and waiter friendly and provided a good service. Rooms fine for short stay, shower room nice size and looked fairly new with good shower. We had a deal which included a three course meal but choice very limited and extra to pay for certain choices like steak and some fish dishes. The food was ok, would have liked more variety, dessert was the best course. Slept well beds comfy. Breakfast had nice choices of some fruit, yogurts, cereal, dried fruit, nuts, breads to toast and juices and the options of ordering a cooked breakfast of your choice off menu and coffee or tea. Quality of cooked breakfast ok. Spa was relaxing with steam room, jacuzzi, sauna and little pool we paid extra for treatments which were relaxing, however, treatment seemed to fall short slightly of the time as left for a good five minutes to just take off robe and lay on bed and treatment finished just within time limit, both therapists lovely, but treatment would have been more enjoyable with a scalp massage when mask was on and if there hadn't been a clock ticking in the room which interferes with relaxation a little and sadly I didn't look younger after expensive facial! But miracles don't happen often . Overall glad we had a deal as wouldn't have wanted to pay more, one night was enough for our purpose.

I went for a golfing weekend with a friend and found the accommodation excellent, the food was also top notch! They had a heated indoor swimming pool with jacuzzi/steam room and sauna. The actual golf course was really very well maintained and a challenge with magnificent views of the countryside all around. Well worth a visit.

Although we are not golfers we were amazed at the brilliant situation of this hotel. It is probably about 4 miles from the centre of Dartmouth but situated in such a lovely area of the surrounding golf course. Immaculate golf course with beautiful trees, small lakes and trees etc. and as you enter this amazing area, you drive down quite a steep road, surrounded by the beautifully kept greens. The hotel is at the bottom of the golfing greens, apart from the putting course, so you can look up at the amazing countryside surrounding this area.

My sons invited me to a carvery lunch with their mother for Mothering Sunday. We had a superb carvery meal. This was served by the very welcoming and pleasant chefs. We were welcomed and escorted to our table by the waiting staff. The served our drinks and took or order with a smile and very pleasant manner. The ambiance in the resteraunt was first class and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. I could not fault anything during our very pleasant lunch.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Dartmouth Hotel. Staff were very friendly and took the time to get to know us and our needs. Spa treatment was fab (recommend the body scrub). The grounds were spectacular, a quiet retreat in the countryside! The only down side was having inexperienced staff at a busy breakfast, which let down the overall wonderful experience!

We recently stayed at the cottages/lodges at the Dartmouth Golf resort. What a fab time we had the lodges were great, with plenty of room,and all the equipment you'd need for self catering and more. We also ate in the restaurant at the golf club where the food was very good. This was a short break during February half term and was excellent value for money. We definitely will go back as my 11 year old child thoroughly enjoyed himself, and wants to try the golf course next time. Thankyou for a great stay

The only reason we booked this hotel was because of the Spa. We were willing to be in the middle of nowhere just because of the Spa. There were other hotels closer and near amenities, also much cheaper but we chose this particular hotel over the others because of the Spa. We drove from London. We did not mind the drive, we thought once we get to the hotel we could just unwind. Driving along the country narrow lanes was exhausting and difficult. It also took ages. It became quite dangerous and it got to a point we could not clearly see where we were going. But we told ourselves it'll be worth it in the end.....Big mistake ..... we got to the hotel around 6:00 pm to find out that the Spa was closed. Apparently the hotel did not have anyone to man the Spa so they decided not to open it. The receptionist was very apologetic but we were just upset. We could have stayed in a closer hotel which would have saved us the petrol money and the stress of driving on very narrow and dangerous country lanes. To be told that the Spa was closed was just an insult. Why was our booking accepted if the hotel had no man power to open the Spa? It was raining outside, we were in the middle of nowhere so we had no choice but to stay in the hotel. There was nothing to do and in the hotel there was hardly anyone around. Very depressing situation. We went to our room. The room looked ok. We decided move the duvet and saw hairs in the bed. The further I moved the duvet the more hairs appeared. We called reception and asked if the bedding had been changed and were told that it had so I suggested that someone came to check the bed. When the receptionist arrived we showed her the hairs in the bed and as we remove the duvet completely there were more human hairs...how disgusting....we could not believe that that a hotel would expect you to sleep on the sheets somebody else had slept on. We were moved to another room. What a fiasco!!!! On our return home we complaint to Wowcher and we receive and apologetic letter from the hotel but they were not have to reimburse us for not having used the Spa. This is something I don't understand. If someone pays you for a service I you don't provide that service shouldn't a refund be given? Had we known the Spa was not going to be opened we would have stayed in a much cheaper hotel. Hotels without Spa are much cheaper.

We took advantage of the Sunday deal. £55 per room includes 2 course meal and use of spa facilities. On arrival we were early and could use the spa until our rooms would be ready at 3pm. We also booked a treatment so we were well chilled by the time our room was ready. The Spa is lovely with nice facilities and the room was excellent. We had a lovely 2 course meal in the evening and the food was superb. The only negative is the door slamming of other guest. I dont slam my doors at home so I wouldnt do it in a hotel. Maybe some signs to ask guest to close doors quietly.

We visited the Dartmouth spa for a one night stay and spa break. It was my boyfriends birthday and having never been to a spa before we thought we would visit for a nice relaxing time. We arrived to use the spa on the Saturday and were given a towel each but no robe, the spa area was cold so we only stayed 45mins. We also couldn't use the sauna as it was broken but we only found this out once we entered the spa. There was a leak in the ceiling were a bucket was catching some yellow looking water. Overall we were extremely disappointed by the spa and the break did not serve its intended purpose. The room was nice all though it was on the lower floor so it didn't get much sunlight but was a nice sized room and served its purpose. The food was very good, the waiters and waitresses were very friendly and helpful, it was about the only thing that made us happy about this spa break. I have contacted the spa but had no response and as a regular visitor prior to this that has disappointed me. I will be giving the Dartmouth spa a miss in future.

I recently visited the spa for the day which unfortunately turned out to only be 30minutes after both the jacuzzi and pool were freezing. I contacted the spa regarding this issue which I was responded to after a month and rudely spoken to by the managing director who was very defensive about the water temperatures having no empathy what so ever. He informed me that there had been no other complaints, I can see on here and other sites there are similar complaints and also had friends and family visit in the weeks after all who said the same, that they were unable to spend anytime in the pool or jacuzzi because of the cold temperature. I would avoid like the plague, many more spas out there with much better service and a much nicer atmosphere

Me and my husband went for a 2 night break including a treatment each. Staff were very welcoming and polite. The food was excellent and we were looked after really well which made us feel welcomed. The spa was really nice. We were showed around when we arrived and the pool was a really good size. The spa staff were very so lovely and very helpful. Clean and spacious, treatments were the best we had in years. I would totally recommend this hotel. We will definitely be back.

We enjoyed a two night break in the suite for my partners 50th birthday. This hotel was superb in every respect. Firstly, the staff were relaxed and very friendly. Secondly, the setting was amazing surrounded by beautiful countryside and located in acreage spot to explore the local area. The suite room was comfy and clean made up of a separate lounge and bedroom. The food was great and we enjoyed the bar sited near to the bedrooms. We did not get to use the spa but it looked lovely. We will definitely return here for its friendly and welcome atmosphere and excellent facilities.

Visited the hotel for an early valentines break with my boyfriend on a spa weekend deal. The room itself was clean and tidy however the spa facilities were unclean and poorly kept. The steam room had green algae in it where it had clearly not been cleaned in a long time. The pool smelt and had cloudy water with green corners. This was massively disappointing as the purpose of the trip was to relax in the spa when due to its lack of cleanliness we didn't want to spend any time in there. On the most part staff were helpful and the therapists who provided treatments were extremely professional and welcoming. Such a shame as the offer was marketed at such good value however the expectation did not meet reality.

over night stay, cold hotel and water could of been warmer but lots of plus points. A little bit of decoration started to be needed here and there, Food good we had evening meal and breakfast all freshly prepared and tasty, bedding and comfort of the bed excellent .

Fantastic value for money. Nice clean rooms with en suite bathroom. Great staff who were extremely helpful. Fabulous food well presented. This is a great venue to stay and explore the beauty of The South Hams (Dartmouth, Slapton, Salcombe, Bigbury, Thurlestone etc). There are two excellent golf courses on site and the spa facilities. Thank you for a great stay.

We stayed for a night on a spa break deal which included dinner. The hotel itself is quite dated and as its a golf club it was quite man group heavy! Not really very nice for couples. The food was okay but the choice on the menu was limited unless you wanted to pay quite significant supplements. The spa was okay although the hot tub was more of a Luke warm tub! I wouldn't go back.

My wife and I stayed here on a spa break.The staff were very helpful and friendly with nothing being too much trouble. The room was very good and tidy. The food was excellent both evening meal and breakfast. Would recommend this place to everyone. 10/10

Very attentive and pleasant staff added to a most enjoyable few days. We had a lovely, comfortable and quiet room. The bathroom facilities were excellent, especially the walk-in shower.The hotel blends good golf course facilities with excellent accommodation etc. for non-golfers. We have stayed there some 2 years ago as non-golfers and were treated very well in the same way as golfers. However the overall quality has been considerably improved. The food at breakfast and dinner was very tasty and good value for money.The pool and other facilities were just right, especially the "pampering" options!We will definitely return.

Good clean hotel, friendly staff and the food for breakfast and dinner was very good. We were visiting Dartmouth and only downside is that this is a little out the way meaning a car journey or taxi to get into town.

When we left The Dartmouth last year I thought I was going to be looking for a new birthday venue. Not so. Our lovely friends at The Dartmouth had other plans. So this year we arrived and checked in as usual but then went to our fantastic lodge. OMG!!! How amazing. We loved everything about our lodge for four nights. What's not to love. Three bedrooms, three bathrooms, open plan lounge, dining/kitchen and a wood burning stove. The lodges are so well equipped and perfect for chilling out and recharging the batteries. We certainly chilled. Comfy sofas to relax and the wood burning stove was fantastic. So easy to use and you can buy logs and kindling at the little garden centre on the right hand side of the road on the way into Dartmouth. The birthday dinner in the restaurant was delicious. `the birthday boy chose the prawn hanging kebab. He was not disappointed and declared it the best. Breakfast, we only went over on our departure day was, as always, perfect. We can't thank Dee enough for everything. She really is magic and its a joy to meet up. To say we enjoyed our stay just doesn't express our joy during this stay. It was perfect, amazing and so relaxing. Even a lovely spa morning. We didn't want to leave but are so happy that our reservation for next year is confirmed. Thanks guys. To all of you. You are all stars.

We held our first annual distributor meeting at The Dartmouth. The conference room was very clean, well presented and included all the things we needed for a perfectly pleasant meeting.The girls in reservations were very helpful with booking rooms for our distributors, especially Roxy who was impeccable with my changes on a daily basis!The food and drink in the restaurant was to a high standard and was enjoyed by everyone. No problems there at all.Personally my room was a little cold, but as soon as I turned my radiator on it warmed up pretty quick and was very comfortable. The only thing I couldn't figure out was the shower which I wouldn't change from scolding hot, but this was a very minor blip in what was such a pleasant stay.Thank you to everyone for making us feel comfortable.

Having stayed here before it was nice to see the standards were still high. Room immaculate as usual, pool area only spoilt by the kids swimming lessons on a Friday afternoon?? Food excellent as always and well worth the money. Mattress a little hard for our liking but it was only for one night. Large party of golfers could have been louder or rowdier but were well behaved and the whole experience was relaxing and stress free

Well worth a visit. Everything was spot on. Golf course is difficult, but still playable to someone like me, a high handicap. Would advise a buggy. If you have problems walking as some very steep climbs.

Excellent 2 night break. Great leisure facilities coupled with excellent food and a well thought out New Year's Eve event. Would not hesitate to recommend and will definitely be looking to return. Thank you.

My husband and I recently stayed here to celebrate a friends birthday. The offer was a fantastic price and also included a two course meal and use of the facilities. The pool and jacuzzi were lovely, I didn't brave the suana or steam room and the changing rooms were clean, had good showers and also had hair driers and straighteners to use. The room was large with a beautiful view and the bed was so comfortable I almost over slept, think the fact the curtains block out all light really helped. Toiletries wise there was only an all in one body and hair wash so if like me you have long hair you will need to pack conditioner, the bathroom looked fantastic but I couldn't work out the shower but it probably very straight forward. The staff were brilliant and even arranged the towels on our friends bed like swans surrounded by petals as I mentioned it was her birthday. I throughly enjoyed all of the food, was very well cooked and presented. I look forward to visiting again.

We stayed on a Sunday evening through the hotels Sunday deal. Our bedroom was spacious, spotless and of superior quality. The bed so comfortable with quality bedding. Extra large luxurious bath towels. The very high sandard of the bathroom is impressive. We had dinner in the restaurant. A most pleasant experience. We have been so impressed that we have rebooked.

Lovely weekend here, rooms very clean and comfy. Good food. Only criticism is Sunday afternoon staff serving during carvery, wasn't that busy but there were 4 tables near is full of dirty crockery etc and stayed like that the whole time we were in there, want to sit down for a drink after the meal and saw 4 men who had been playing golf come in for a drink and they had to clear a table in the bar area before they could sit down. Another man ordered a coffee and was still waiting for it after 20 mins, he gave up and left. Just think they need to make sure that the staff clear tables as soon as one becomes vacant, they should be looking out for this surely.

Fantastic time away at this Hotel. Staff are superb especially Helen doing the breakfasts, so bubbly and nothing is too much trouble. Spa area is lovely. Would definitely return. Good value for money!

Beautiful setting , views of the surrounding countryside . Superb food especially the evening meal. Attentive staff , in particular Helen the breakfast supervisor who was an absolute star. Also Charlotte in the spa who was an absolute gem and made my friends day X

Very good value golf break. Comfortable good sized accommodation, good food and very helpful members of staff. The only slight problem is the lack of mobile phone signal which is not the hotels fault. We found signal in the car park,

Stayed with my mum and 14 month old for one night on the Sensational Sunday Saver break which cost us £90 in total. The stay included a two course dinner and then we added on breakfast and also upgraded to a family room so it was a great deal. When we arrived on the Sunday at lunchtime we decided to enjoy the Sunday carvery and so glad we did as it was absolutely delicious and the chef was really friendly and accommodating of my little boy. They also gave us the menu for the evening so we were able to look at the choices for our included dinner. When we did get into our room it was lovely and spacious and heated up very quickly. I also got chance to enjoy the leisure facilities which weren't busy at all and my son also had a lovely swim at the allocated child friendly time of 4-5pm. Dinner was nice with quick service and again child friendly as they brought him some bread and butter to keep him happy! I can highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding it was very tasty. Breakfast the next morning was a wide choice of options and the fresh fruit with raspberries was a treat, however it was very disappointing not to have any pastries available as these are always my favourite bit. I would definitely come and stay here again as it is a lovely location, staff are very friendly and helpful and the shopping in Dartmouth is brilliant, most places were open even on a Sunday.

Greeted not with a smile or a hello but rather "What are you here for?". Following on from this all staff were helpful and polite. Food, despite it taking an awful long time to order, was delicious. Paid extra for a "sea-view" room but instead got a view of grass and a sign.

Took my wife here for a night away had a spa treatment the staff were very attentive we asked for more pillows and a hair dryer as the one we had didn't work and we had them within a few minutes can't fault them. The food was amazing we had a 3 course meal and also had afternoon tea can't fault it we even booked again for February thank you for a fantastic stay can't wait to come again. The spa staff were very friendly and saw to our every need thank you very much.

Not a bad hotel, food and bar are good. Spa, gym and pool need a good scrub and deep clean. Locker room smells like a sewer! Gym and Pool area shut at 8pm which is very early for a hotel! Surely it should stay open to 10 so hotel guests and members get a chance to use it rather than feeling rushed!

We arrived at the hotel, beautiful hotel and grounds. Reception advised us where to go and we went down to spa, lovely welcome and was asked to fill in medical form and asked what time we would like lunch then given our robes,flip flops and towel and took to the changing room. We then went and had our Rasul mud treatment which was fabulous and then enjoyed the spa facilities, pool, steam room, sauna, jacuzzi and hot and cold showers. Lunch was lovely and the chocolate brownie was the best I've ever had! Prosecco was nice and we had water on table and ordered a pot of tea. We then had a massage to finish off our day. Great deep tissue massage and was the best massage I have ever had! Staff were lovely and friendly too. The staff kept the changing rooms clean and the water cups in spa topped up. Only thing I would like to see different is for there to be some calming music in sauna and steam room Thank you for a great day!

This is a regular haunt for us and this visit did not disappoint. The welcome was friendly, the hotel comfortable and clean with what appeared to be recently refurbished bathrooms. Disappointing that there were only biscuits for one with the tea coffee refreshments in the room. We ate in the Bistro on our first evening which was ok. Breakfast was great, super variety. The spa was great, pool steam room and sauna were great. Look forward to a return trip.

Although we are not golfers, our first impressions of this hotel was the stunning setting and beautiful grounds. The restaurant also overlooked the grounds - so this made breakfast a lovely experience

We have booked 4 bedroom lodge for my son birthday! Was very excited and looking forward! I always call to check my booking before we go! So I called them and they told me that by mistake they over booked and they can offer us a family room in the hotel . As it was kids holidays and all other places wich we choose was already booked we agreed. ( I called them, not they called me). They offered us free breakfast and it was about £90 chipper. I asked if it will be a good size family room?! Yes they said. It was one room and they squeezed 2 kids bads in it, no wardrobe even in the room. We had to keep all our clothes in the bags on the floor in this small room. They cleaned the room without even hovering or cleaning. The only thing we enjoyed was swimming pool, very good sauna and steam room. Is with time for kids and they did let us know about it. Thank you! I would not recommend this hotel.

A very picturesque Golfing venue in the rolling hills of the West Country, after our drive down from Salisbury we received a warm welcome at the reception & pro-shop.Six Golfers raring to go we decided to play on the Nine Hole Dartmouth Course before our afternoon Tee Time on Championship Course.Whilst the Championship Course is a good challenge it is okay for all levels.The Dartmouth Course is a little more open but of the same quality. The rooms had everything you needed.I enjoyed the Spa facilities which helped sooth the aching limbs and the restaurant food was excellent. All the staff were very polite and welcoming.

Six golfers aged 55+ enjoyed a 1 night stay, 2 rounds on the Championship Course + 9 Holes on the Dartmouth Course. A good challenging course for all handicap levels, Spa facilities soothed the aches, whilst the food was excellent. A Great Value for Money Golf Trip celebrating 60th Birthday's.

Just had a fantastic carvery at the Best Western Golf and Spa. A choice of 3 meats and 8 different vegetables. All cooked to perfection. The staff were very friendly and cheerful. Ideal for large parties or more intimate couples. I have only used the resteraunt and not booked any accommodate.

A very enjoyable stay at this golfing hotel close to Dartmouth with a very good range of facilities (swimming, sauna, jacuzzi, keep fit, and beauty) and very reasonably priced meals and drinks with stunning scenery.

A lovely hotel in an idyllic situation. The friendly and professional staff looked after us extremely well. Good food and comfortable rooms plus an outstanding golf course.Plenty of parking great for walks.

I stayed 4 nights with my wife for a break mainly to play Golf There is a 18 hole Championship course which is quite demanding with 4 tee off positions . And a 9 hole Dartmouth course that I did not play . I did not use the Spa

We stayed with our daughter, son-in-law and 3 month granddaughter in one of the Cottages which was just as we expected except the heat. The cottages have underfloor heating with thermostats in all rooms. It was not cold outside but the room temperatures were mid twenties and in our bedroom it was 25C at night and in our daughter's room where the baby was, it was 27C. One window in our bedroom opened but none of the others did. There was a French door in our daughter's bedroom but last week we had the very high winds and it was not possible to leave the door open. I asked Reception for instructions to change the thermostats on four occasions with the response that no-one knew how to, it would be necessary to telephone Switzerland, unbelievable but so what, the Deputy Manager visited and agreed it was far too hot and would get back to us the next day, which she didn't. I eventually went on to YouTube and got the instructions and toward the end of our stay the temperature had dropped to a comfortable level. Although I am a Golfer playing golf was not on the agenda. However we made daily use of the Bar and Bistro and found them to be good value and good quality with very helpful staff.

Had a pleasant overnight stay but that was helped by the fab weather and nearness of Dartmouth ,such a pretty river side town. The hotel has several bits looking very "tired"and the bedrooms whilst adequate are very noisy...think walls made of paper! The included dinner was fine but the supplements for some items such as duck breast or steak ridiculous, 4/5/6 pounds extra! The boys played golf, course in good condition but large groups made their 2 ball very slow. The girls had massages, therapist absolutely brilliant but no beds in relaxation area free to relax on after treatments, this area actually far too noisy so not ideal for purpose. Tried to sit by pool but no beds there either, actually only loungers for7! So mixed review, not terrible but,for the cost not really good enough.

If you are looking for a decent golf course in South Devon, then this is the place for you. Hadn't played for a while, but the course has matured and looks so different now the trees have all grown. Really good facilities and staff & will be back!

We booked four lodges for our group of 22, including 3 young children. During the weekend we played golf, used the Spa and enjoyed a meal in the spike bar that was reserved for our private family function. Accommodation in the lodges was superb, service excellent in every department and the food on Saturday night was great. All in all a perfect location for such a family celebration.

I have been to this particular Hotel in previous years and I can categorically state that this was the best stay. The staff from the initial contact in Reception, to the Pro Shop was very good, however I must make comment regarding the staff in the Restaurant, Lounge /Bar were exceptional. Extremely polite, helpful and 'nothing' was too much trouble. The golf course was of its usual high standard, well presented and the greens very good.

We booked two "Deluxe" rooms for six nights for a family holiday (two teenage boys). The rooms were certainly not what I would expect from "deluxe" and were even quite shabby. Definitely not worth what we paid for them. No fridge, no safe box, no toilet brush, two tiny bottles of poor quality shampoo/bodywash (not replenished during the whole of the stay). Breakfast choice from the menu was OK but limited buffet items. We were told we would get no Best Western Points because we had not booked directly with the hotel (we had tried but told they could only give us non-refundable rooms several weeks in advance whereas with Booking.com we could cancel up to two days ahead - a necessary precaution because of potential work demands). The swimming pool was small and always looked so crowded we didn't try to use it. Nice that we could use the Driving Range and very nice putting green but Best Western has definitely gone down in our estimation.

Great place to eat and use the pool facilities. I have recommended to my friends. The food was fresh and tasty....however the restaurant service was really....Well....Strange! We prebooked the table, but arrived early to a half empty restaurant. Still we were asked to wait whilst a kerfuffled maître d'hôtel faffed behind the bar, the bar staff wafted about and two young and runragged waitresses rushed around doing the real work. Next I virtually had to beg to place our order - whilst aforementioned maître d'hôtel swooned over some old guys at the bar who were merely knocking back some pints. Food came quite quickly once we'd fought the order in. Like I say, it was lovely. Next challenge was getting our hands on the bill. I must admit that I was brutishly vocal about the shoddy service. Next minute the nervous Nigel on the table next to us who had eaten an entire 3 course meal in virtual silence with his awkward looking family, started cooing to the waitress about the "fabulous service"....he was so complimentary of her that I thought he was gonna come out brown. This kind of screwed with my Zen and I decided against complaining there and then. But anyway, story aside, we will be returning and I'd like to stay the night because it Did seem like a nice place and I'd like to continue ploughing through the menu. Yum.

I wanted somewhere to stay while I was working in Dartmouth. This place seemed to fit the bill and it really lived up to it. Some lovely friendly staff and a great pool. I was really good value, I recommend it!

We've recently returned from a 1 night 2 round chanpionship Dinner B&B break. I'd played this course before and I knew it was a great golf course so our expectations were high. Unfortunately though, things didnt quite live up to how we'd hoped. The tee boxes were in appalling condition - un-mowed, lumpy making it difficult to get a flat lie when teeing off. The fairways hadn't been cut either. Due to rain prior to our arrival the bunkers were mostly water-logged so all were deemed as GUR. Buggies were only allowed on cart paths so we didnt take them. Id recommend them really as there's a lot of hill climbing between holes and if walking it's a good old treck. If you carry you feel a bit like a mountain goat... Anyway post round we checked into the hotel and went for a spa. There were no towels available for us, as they'd run out. In the changing room the towel bin was overflowing and it needed a good tidy up tbh. It looked like nobody cared. Moving on from that the dinner included was a 3 course meal which to be fair was very nice. We were a bit disappointed though that many of the dishes such as steak had supplements on top.. Bar prices were extortionate as well. Just under £15 for 3 drinks!! I understand in a 'swanky' upmarket venue that that's the going rate but I did not feel that this place warranted these prices. The bar food as well I felt was a joke - £12.99 for a burger & if you want chips its an extra £1.50?? A £12.99 burger should come with chips in my book.. Breakfast the following morning was very nice, although the full Dartmouth breakfast (which I expected to be a beast) consisted of 1 egg, 1 bacon, 1 sausage, beans, mushrooms, tomato and fried bread. My 6 year old son could put that away. Three hungrey men could eat 2 but anyway... Overall though, I felt this was good value for money. I feel bar prices were playing victim to visiting parties and I actually saw several guests going to their cars and bringing bottles back. The course when in good condition is a beauty, although tight and the 9 hole Dartmouth is a lovely addition to the Championship. I would definately return, but I'd pick my time better & enquire into course conditions prior

I have just stayed for a two night golf break with my husband. I booked via telephone and right from the start to the end, customer service was exemplary. Very helpful and happy staff in reception and the bar restaurant, even the golf team were great. Great food in the restaurant too. So thank you for making our stay memorable, we will be back.

Lovely hotel within a countryside setting. A short 10 minute car journey into the very picturesque Dartmouth. Breakfast and evening meal great. Swimming pool and spa facilities excellent. Room was very spacious with modern decor. A lovely 2 night stay.

we have stayed at this hotel before so knew it was good. Nice & quiet. This time we were down for my mums 80th birthday & we ate at the restaurant. This is a good quality restaurant. Sit in the conservatory for some nice views. Service was great as was the food. We also did bar food one night that was also good. Room was pleasant & clean. Put you up for my daughter was not ideal but they gave us a second mattress that made it more comfortable Recommended

Stayed at Heron cottage with my family for 4 nights. We were delighted with the lovely accommodation & facilities within the cottage. Everything was spotlessly clean & very comfortable, I will definitely return & would recommend. We used the spa facilities which were very good & also dined at the hotel restaurant which we also enjoyed. Staff very helpful & attentive.

Lovely beautiful hotel spacious family room kids enjoyed swimming. The hotel is only a few minutes away from blackpool sands seaside. Will definitely go back again. The only negative was the damp smell in the bathroom. Enjoyed the spa facilities aswell.

Price in the bar too high if food and drinks were less money would have spent more time in the bar instead of going out to the pub golf and spar were both good and going into Dartmouth did not take to long would come again to do the spar and golf

Hotel was nice, room was very clean and well maintained, although we were put in the room that's was literally the furthest from everything. The spa poll etc was lovely, but to get to it from our room we had to match up 3 floors of stairs walk through the bar area which is always full of loads of men. and then back down stairs on the other side to get there. I don't know why their is no passage from the bottom floor through to spa as it's annoying and embarrassing through walk through the bar to get there. Knowing it was our anniversary they made a nice gesture of towels arranged pretty on the bed, which was nice. The breakfast was a bit disappointing, the bacon was really fatty and not crispy at all, I managed to find 1 egg out of the lot that was not completely over cooked, and they had no plain bread for toast, wholemeal I expect to have seeds of whatever in but not white. I hate seeds so this is a big no no for me. We had a bit of late lunch on the day of arrival I hubby had this burger which looked like it had be flattened making it way bigger than the bun and not very nice at all. So we decided not to eat there again. The receptionist were very welcoming and helpful when trying to find a local restaurant to eat out too.

We had our wedding here in January this year. It was perfect and exactly what I imagined. The only downside being the weather but no one can help that! Charles the wedding coordinator was just brilliant, nothing was too much trouble and he made me feel at ease. The food was incredible and all our guests commented on it and the evening buffet! We had the suite on the wedding night which was lovely, however I have stayed in the normal rooms too. They are really nice, but basic. If you pick a ground floor room the bathrooms have been refurbished and are lovely and modern. The spa is also really nice and a lovely place to relax. It's about a 15 min drive into Dartmouth but also has a lovely pub close by called the sportsman (something like that..) perfect for woodlands, it's near enough opposite the entrance! Desperate to stay here again, only downside is weekends they only let you book 2 nights if you want a Saturday!

In the middle of a wee valley, surrounded by golf courses and a short drive from Dartmouth. The staff are very helpful and will happily sort taxis for you. Our room wasn't particularly stylish and neither were the common areas but all clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was a complete shambles the first day, nothing was ready at the same time and the staff seemed very stressed. It was super busy. Second day was fine. The breakfast was a regular hotel buffet and the standard you would expect, not extraordinary. There's a wee balcony that's a total suntrap if you want a drink or food outdoors. The spa is small but very clean and very nice. There's also an outdoor spa area where you can lounge if the weather is warm enough. Overall would recommend.

This hotel has a very relaxed atmosphere, the layout of the restaurant and loung area being very spacious and relaxing.The meals are excellent, and well presented. I can honestly say that the cooked breakfasts are superb. Many restaurants simply cannot do poached eggs. Here,they are absolutely spot on. The staff are all presentable, knowledgeable and do their jobs very efficiently. The 2 golf courses are kept in immaculate condition. Hotel is also well placed being 10 minute drive from Falmouth itself. FIrst class all round.

A very nice Best Western Hotel. The restaurant and grounds were very good. The pool facilities were also a good standard. The room we had was recently renovated, the shower room very nice, the bed very comfortable. Food was very good and breakfast relaxed and good quality. Staff very friendly. Very accessible hotel too for wheelchair users.

Absolutely fantastic all the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful my daughter and i had a wonderful day felt thoroughly pampered and the lunch was lovely.bought this deal on groupon and fantastic value for money we will definately go again

This is a great place for a family holiday, the accommodation, food, staff, golf course and spa are all fantastic. There is everything you need on site and attractions, beaches etc are all close by. We will definitely be staying again.

Our Room was ok for a 3 star although loo roll holder fell off the wall! It's in a lovely setting but unless you play golf there is nowhere outside to sit and relax. The views are really nice. Now let's talk about the breakfast! The food itself was very nice. We had a full English and helped ourselves to toast and fruit. The breakfast waitresses however do not add to the pleasure,they were so miserable! I don't think I saw any one of them crack a smile. We, and a few other couples had to repeatedly remind them about our order. We waited half an hour for 2 croissants! Didn't try the pool or spa but heard someone say the Jacuzzi wasn't working. Probably a great holiday for golfers, but I wouldn't go again.

I can see why they are having to advertise on group on. Although the spa facilities look and smell lovely and the spa staff are very friendly and helpful, that's all I can say in a positive light for the best western gold hotel and spa. The showers in the spa made a loud moo-big noise every time they were used and the jaccuzi was out of bounds. The Rasul mud treatment wasn't really what I'd call a treatment as you have to apply the creme yourself and then sit in the steam room. The lunch has very limited choice and was served in a Resturant without air con which made it a very hot and uncomfortable dining experience. The lack of music around the whole spa made it awkward to share the pool with other spa gooers but the large cuddle chair in the garden is an asset for the spa as well as the happy & friendly spa receptionist.

I stayed here for a 7 night break for a relaxing chilled out time and that is what i got. My room was large and spacious with a en suite and the shower was worked very well. All the food I had in the hotel was nicely cooked and tasted good. The breakfast choice was very good but I do feel that the breakfasts should of be included for the price I paid for the week. The spa and pool which i used most days and is on the lower floor of the hotel was a very enjoyable place to unwind,but a couple of days the steam room was out of action. The staff treated you well and it's a very pleasant place to stay.

Use the park and ride if going into Dartmouth. It's murder on the dance floor. If golf is your thing this is the place for you.Breakfast is fine and the young ladies are very professional serving table Dinner OK and bar is adequate.Be careful about parking your car some members are very possessive.

We travelled as a group and stayed in the hotel in early July when the weather was very warm. Check in was trouble free and very efficiently conducted. We played the championship course 3 times and found it in good condition and very challenging. Definitely a course for lower handicap golfers. Our rooms were good and clean and tiidy but very hot at night with no air conditioning. Breakfasts were served and the full English was great set us up for the day! We had one evening meal at the hotel which was ok and atet in Dartmouth on the second night. Dartmouth is a lovely place to visit and highly recommended for a weekend break. Our only negative comment regarding our stay involved a couple of Minor incidents with staff who refused to serve us sandwiches before one game at 11.30 am as apparently only served from 12 am. A petty argument and eventually we paid £7 each for 2 pieces of bread and some cheese. Completely unnecessary. Other than this issue we had a good stay and would recommend as a good value destination.

We stayed at this hotel in early July . We were a group of 4 playing the golf course for 3 days and ate in the restaurant on one evening. The Championship Course is a tough test of golf and would be better suited to lower handicap players whilst the Dartmouth Course is better suited to higher handicappers. Both courses were presented in very good condition and we didn't suffer any problems with holdups or slow play. A buggy is well worth considering as there are long and steep walks between holes.(buggies were £26 per round which is expensive). The hotel was fine for our purposes - although we didn't use the spa facilities.The only issue which caused concern was trying to get a sandwich to eat before 12am proved impossible. We ended up paying £7 per head just for some bread and cheese which was plain ridiculous. Overall a good stay spoiled only by a member of staff being too belligerent when it just wasn't needed.

Having stayed in the cottages last year, we booked again with little hesitation. However we happened to choose a week when the slimming pool, sauna etc were out of action !! Disappointing although on request we received a partial refund. The surround of the cottage had not been cleaned for some time, inside the instructions to get the TV to work were poor and we ended up asking another tenant for help. The floor needed a good washover and ventilation in hot weather is poor unless the doors are wide open. However the site is a good base to visit the surrounding area and perhaps we caught them on a bad week.

On arrival, we found reception staff not accommdating or welcoming. We had small issues throughout the day and lack of sleep and rest from where a school prom was playing music. I was disappointed. locating is good as it's not far from Darthmouth which has amazing views and great food.

The self catering cottages are lovely, they provide everything you need for a long weekend break. The cottage itself had three double bedrooms with all on-suite bathrooms. We had our 2 year old son and Best Western accommodated to our needs for child cutlery, highchair and travel cot.The gold course and spa are available for use although we didn't use them as the weather was so nice we spent most of the time out in the sun. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Great place would recommend to anyone.

This hotel benfits from sharing facilities with a top golf club in the South Hams area of Devon. There are always plenty of staff available, they are very friendly and immensely helpful, and so the service benefits. Food is good and hearty! The rooms are comfortable, the public rooms excellent and very handy if you are on floor 3. The Spa provides comprehensive facilities and for golfers, this hotel is a "bit of heaven".

Nice hotel in a beautiful location. Clean spacious rooms helpful friendly staff. Nice spa and pool. However it's miles away from Dartmouth, we knew this in advance and was planning use the local buses into town. Unfortunately we found the nearest bus stop is along a very busy windy road with no footpath so we had to drive into town. The hotel doesn't have any grounds other than the golf course and access is denied to guests unless they are playing golf...this was a great shame as we were looking forward to walks after dinner

Firstly, I have to say that, overall, our party of 5 had a lovely stay. We stayed in one of the on site 'cottages' (Cottage No1 "The Swallows"). With hindsight, this is probably the worst situated of all the cottages as it has a barbeque on an upstairs bacony and doesn't get much sunlight through the day and epsecially in the evenings. (TIP...if booking one of the "cottages" go for one of numbers 5, 6 or 7 ! They have level access to the entrance path whereas Cottages 1 - 4 are accessed up several stone steps). The location was ideal for our visits to Dartmouth, Kingsbridge and some of the local beaches. The situation of the cottage, overlooking the ‘green' and the golf course was lovely - and quiet. Internally, the cottage probably met most of our expectations. The fact that all 3 bedrooms were ensuite and had access to balconies was a bonus, as was the additional cloakroom on the lower floor. If we had to pick a fault with the inside of the cottage it was that there was no real storage available for toiletries in the bathroom for the master bedroom on the top floor, nor was there anywhere in that bathroom to hang towels. Our biggest issues however were with the outside facilities of the cottage, in particular the state of the balconies and the exterior woodwork, furniture etc. Bearing in mind that our stay was at the start of June, our expectation/plan was that we would be having barbeques for the 2 nights we were there and spending lots of time outdoors, it was very disappointing therefore the encounter the following issues: * The barbeque was incomplete! My son and I had to assemble it ourselves from the boxed item we uncovered in the under stairs cupboard! * The barbeque was on the first floor / side balcony - we had to carry everything we needed upstairs and through the bedroom! * The state of the side balcony and the furniture etc was very poor with a broken balcony surround holding the glass screen, overgrown shrubbery, weeds coming through the patio slabs and mould on the glass screen and the dining table (which, along with the chairs, was also covered in bird droppings !) *The poor state of the side balcony was also mirrored in the 2 balconies to the front of the cottage with mould, weeds, general debris, and even a dead sparrow to greet us! *The furniture on the downstairs patio area was dirty and had clearly not been cleaned for the start of the ‘summer season'. * There were significant cobwebs and dirt etc on all the outside doors/hinges It was clear that no time at all had been spent on cleaning / maintaining the outside facilities of the cottage which was very surprising bearing in mind that the expectation surely must have been that, at this time of year, they would all be used !? Just to reiterate, we did enjoy our stay but it was tarnished by the above issues – pretty much all of which could have been resolved if some time had been spent on them.

Stayed for 2 nights bed and breakfast with one Dinner. Plus golf Twin room, very clean, well maintained, very comfortable. Food was good.staff very pleasant and helpful. Drinks very expensive, bar food expensive. Golf course exceptional, cost of buggy hire too expensive, no special offers, cost to hire electric golf trolley also too expensive. We have stopped at this hotel and played golf on several occasions over the years. Whereas we would not hesitate to come again in the past, now the cost is making us think twice and will be looking elsewhere for a better deal. We paid a total of £440.00 for two persons including buggy hire for two of the rounds of golf. Others must be thinking the same as golf course and clubhouse very quiet. As I said previously the golf course staff should be complemented for their efforts in producing 2 superb golf courses. Thank you.

A very pleasurable two night stay with husband and another couple giving us ‘girls' time to take advantage of the spa facilities while the chaps played a round of golf. Room 211 clean and adequate with tea/coffee making facilities, hair dryer, tv, Wi-fi but bathroom in need of refurb. Comfy beds but duvets far too heavy for spring/summer. Breakfast good, bistro had a varied choice but our evening meal was very disappointing and we chose to eat out on the second night. Staff very pleasant and helpful. There was a special offer on treatments at the spa and I can recommend the massage and facial with Sophie. Water in pool just the right temperature. My husband informs me the course was very challenging.

Just wonderful, golf course is fantastic and all of the amenities. Staff and food excellent. Did not use the spa but it looked lovely. Did not manage to play the 9 hole, but a few guys who we met said it was fantastic. Overall an amazing place to stay.

12 blokes, 4 days, 3 nights, 27 holes of golf a day, varying golf handicaps. We had a great time. Weather was fabulous. I chose the golf tour package. Seemed good value offering 12 for 11, and a free pack of 12 golf balls (Callaway Warbird) for each player. Hotel reception/booking staff easy/pleasant to deal with (especially Dee). Very accommodating. We stayed in 2 well equipped lodges (2&3) - came with bbq set, towels, dishwasher tablets, all there for you. Hotel bar was a little Jekyll & Hyde - either quiet or v.rowdy. Perhaps felt too much like a golf club bar than a hotel but no real complaints. Spa went down well - few who opted for a swim and sauna instead of another 9 holes spoke highly of it. Restaurant we used one night, and food and service were both of a good standard, although would have preferred to have known about supplementary costs for various items at time of booking. We played at four courses - Bovey and Thurlestone were the stand-out courses, Dawlish I would skip. I had wanted to play Thurlestone having walked the coastal path years earlier, and wasn't disappointed. Dartmouth was long, demanding and in good nick although the greens could be quicker. The 9 hole course is a hidden gem with the 9/18th tee high on the hill down to a green over water being a fitting end to the round. Would recommend buggies for anyone who is less than super fit - carrying a bag over 4 days was a little tiring. Walked between 10 and 15 miles a day. All in all, an excellent and very enjoyable first golf tour. No regrets.

This Hotel is a great place to stay, if you are playing golf or just relaxing, it has what you need the staff are very good, and the services are very good, the food is very good quality and well presented, a great base for travelling around Devon.

Our cottage had three bedrooms, all “on suite”, so it is a great place for up to three couples to consider staying in relative comfort, with all the amenities of home. Well fitted kitchen with halogen cooker and dishwasher, large table with six chairs, large lounge with two sofa's, comfortable beds (twin or double) patio & garden furniture. We have previously used the restaurant and bar within the hotel, and found them to be more than satisfactory, however, this time we opted to be independent, so cannot make any comment.

Hotel and golf combination works very well. Good range of food options available at all mealtimes and good range of drinks available from the bar. Only marginal downside is that the bar/lounge area is shared with spa users who are often robed.

Wow what a Course! 6 of us stayed in Lodge 2 which was great and felt brand new when we walked in. The golf Course is stunning, particularly when the sun comes out. There is a tennis court which some of us enjoyed and the Spa and Healthclub was a great relaxation opportunities before a few beers and watching the Masters in their TV room in the bar. Staff were great, particularly in reception, golf shop & bar and the food in the restaurant was good with a lovely breakfast. A real gem in Devon and being so close to Dartmouth meant we enjoyed a nice meal out in a lovely town. Highly recommended!

Facilities are lovely with a pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. 8 of us in our party and we had the spa to ourselves. Staff could not have been more helpful. Afternoon tea was scrummy with gf and vegetarian options. Perfect escape for a relaxing day with friends.

Me and my partner just had a one night stay here. Beautiful area and stunning views of the golf course. The rooms are clean and very well decorated. The staff are welcoming and helpful. Food is of a good standard and broad choices. The Spa is a definite recommendation and massage treatment is a must. Only flaws are the shower in the room was far too hot with no way to change to the perfect temperature, the pool was a little too cold and the glasses in the bar were filthy. Perfect get away for an older couple who have a passion for golf.

My daughter and I visited the spa today on a Groupon voucher. The voucher included a 2 course lunch and a rasul mud experience. It was such a great day from start to finish. All staff we met were polite and helpful, particularly the girl on spa reception. The facilities in the spa were great and the lunch was absolutely delicious. Again the staff we met in the Bistro area were polite and professional. The radul mud experience was definitely an experience, enjoyed by both of us immensely and nice to tr6 something different. I cannot rate our day highly enough and we both can't wait to return! Thank you.

All of the Staff we had contact with were 1st Rate, from reception of housekeeping. Chefs were excellent and very familiar with our allergy issues the result of this is that my wife never felt uncomfortable asking for help. It is true to say that this is the most relaxed we have been in any Hotel even other BW's where food was concerned. The Hotel itself was friendly and warm. The Spar facilities were very good. Despite the weather being far from ideal we had one of the best stays we have ever had. It is our intention to return to this hotel. Either to stay or to use the golfing facilities if we camp in the area. I would encouredge anyone to try this Hotel out whether a Golfer or not.

This is a review of our experience in the Carvery on Sunday 11th March 2018. My wife booked a table for 14.30 for us plus her mother, who was 90 last year and needs a little extra attention. It started well, as the staff at reception and in the dinning area were very kind and helped my mother-in-law to a very nice table with the aspect across the golf course. We had high expectations, and I appreciate that they had been busy, but it went downhill from then on. We waited quite a long time to have our order taken, which was for 2 x prawn starter and 1 x soup. The prawn starters were well presented and tasty, but the soup was completely inedible; not sure what had happened to the flavour, but it was so salt, that it was impossible to eat it. The waitress was a long time coming and didn't really know how to deal with my comment that the soup was inedible. I was offered "another one", but that completely missed the point. The carvery was a disappointment, with the exception of the turkey, which was OK. The lamb was not well cooked, nor did it appear to be of the quality that the menu suggested. The beef had obviously been very good, as there was almost none left; the chef was polite, but guarded what was left and had to be cajoled into parting with it, which was not much; there was no attempt to offer me more beef (there probably was none) nor one of the other meats. The Yorkshire pudding was cold and inedible, and the vegetables added to the disappointment. The roast potatoes were under cooked and soggy, and the parsnips overcooked and soggy; the carrots and peas were OK. We had to ask for fresh swede and red cabbage, as there was none left; the swede came quickly, but I timed the red cabbage and it took 6 minutes, during which time, no one offered to take my plate and keep my food warm, although there were 2 members of staff stood at the servery (one on his mobile phone). At least the gravy was hot. The main course eating experience was pretty disappointing, and well below average. For dessert, the cheesecake, ice cream and cheese and biscuit selection were all very good. During the meal, no one came to ask if we were OK, and we had to request more water, which was slammed down on the table with not finesse. We were not offered coffee, and I got the impression that they would be pleased to see the back of us, as most of the staff were cleaning tables. On leaving, I told the Bistro duty manager that our meal had been very disappointing, and declined to leave a tip. Positive: Helpful staff on arrival, and nice table outlook. Food: Average to poor Normally, I would have been much more aggressive with my criticism at the time, but the meal was for my lovely Mum-in-Law, and I didn't want to spoil her Mothering Sunday. We were very disappointed, as being local, we are always happy to try lunch venues, but it will be a very long time before we return.

I spent a relaxing day being pampered by the treatments and using the facilities. The facilities included swimming pool jacuzzi steam room and sauna and the staff were very friendly and attentive. After using the facilities we had a tasty meal which we could not fault. A truly pampered day!

We had a spa special afternoon including lunch. The lunch was very tasty, the spa was good except steam room was closed. We had a drink in bar then a dinner. Everything was fine and staff very good. We stayed the night and the room were very clean and the beds very comfortable. Breakfast was good.

Yesterday my friend and I went on a spa day to celebrate our birthdays.we really enjoyed the experience lovely friendly staff .nice warm pool and an excellent meal with a glass of bubbly. Thanks to everyone for making it a great day.

We stayed during the snow storms that hit the SW of England on 28 Feb to 2 March and the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. They all went out their way to ensure that we were comfortable and to help us on our way when it came time to go home. Very impressed.

I was taken here for a surprise birthday gift. All seemed ok when we arrived, we went directly to the spa as we wanted to have lunch and then chill for the afternoon. We were booked at midday for lunch and explained to Sophie when we arrived, she seemed to be really faffing about clicking on the computer screen and didn't listen to what we were saying, she seemed so flustered, and lots of fake smiling at us. You could tell other clients felt equally awkward as the lady next to me frowned at me, and rolled her eyes. She told us we weren't booked in! but gave us a menu whilst she dealt with another couple, taking them off to the changing rooms, then Sally tried to help and Sophie did no more than fly round the corner and started mouthing off to Sally telling her to take towels and go in the other room. I was pretty much ready to leave as the first impression is usually the right one! If we hadn't driven so far we would have left then. Sophie said here are your robes and I'll show you the changing, but we said again to her we wanted lunch first, and she just tutted and clicked around the computer again saying the kitchen may not be able to let us have lunch now as it's too early, so we said no it's 12 now and that's when we were booked! So she made a call, took our order and said when we were back from lunch and finished in the spa to go to the treatment room. She never explained what she'd arranged, just glossing over her incompetence in dealing with clients. Lunch was pretty poor, fish and chips was like a childs portion! then dessert the lemon posset was just runny cream flavoured with lemon, gross. We finished lunch and went to the pool and spa, overall it was nice. The only downside is there is little room for the 8 loungers beside the pool, and they get "reserved" by guests so there was no where else to sit! When a bed did become available it was soaking wet from other peoples swimwear as it had material cushions on, yuk!.The Jacuzzi was really small 4 people was a squeeze and who wants to sit in a jacuzzi with strangers that close! It would have been nice to have some fresh towels when you've finished your time in the spa instead of trying to dry in the ones you've used in and out of the pool! We finished at the spa and went to the waiting room Sophie had told us to go to, only on stepping foot in the entrance she shouted from reception "urrm excuse me, can I help" obviously not recognising us from a few hours before, so we said yes we're having a treatment so you said to go into here, then she was all fake smiles again and said for us to go in and wait. The treatments were ok, I had Sally for mine and she was really good. My partner had Sophie! she may have redeemed herself slightly with the treatment, but she should be taught some customer service, and respect for her colleagues particularly in front of other customers. Overall we would not go here again, we have been to other spa places all well above the level of quality and service experienced here.

Having read such good reveiews, we stayed here during half term. We stopped at the Premier Inn in Honiton on the way here and I wish we'd stayed there! First impressions were great - if you like golf I'm sure you'd like to play this course. The grounds are beautiful. Check in was smooth. All good so far. We went to our room - we'd paid for a slightly bigger 'family' room so there would be an extra bed. Well, there were two single beds and what can only be described as sort of makeshift trampoline with an inch thick foam matress on top. Not only was it a disgrace to call this a bed but it was also dangerous. The rigid metal sides and the amount of bounce offered by the trampoline-style base meant a child sleeping on this was likely to hit their head hard on it. I bruised my shin on it trying to get past it. So we had to push the two single beds together and our daughter slept between us. The table and chairs were placed in an area of the room with very restricted headroom. I am only 5'1" and hit my head several times. We had to move them, leaving little space to move around in the room. Still, at least we had a bath in the bathroom, which seems to be increasingly unusual. However, on inspection it had not been cleaned properly. There was scratchy dust all around the edge and when I moved the shower screen there was much more under there. It's not really good enough. I cleaned it but it took ages to rinse off because the shower was pathetic. Maybe that's why they didn't clean the bath properly? There's also not really anywhere to put stuff in the bathroom. Plenty of room, but nowhere to put your wash bag...unless you balance it on the toilet but you're going to need that to rest your towel on because the towel rail is on the other side of the room...about ten feet away. Aside from being kicked in the head by my daughter during the night, the noise from the lift woke me up repeatedly. When I got up the first morning I consoled myself with the thought of a good, freashly prepared breakfast as the menus says you must order the full English from the waiting staff. When we got to the breakfast room (which is also the restaurant and the bar) we discovered that is was a buffet breakfast. :-( The bacon was overcooked, the eggs like jelly and the sausages mostly undercooked. The mushrooms were ok! Then the whole break started to go downhill. Yes, it was possible for it to get worse! A group of about 30 male golfers entered the bar area. Why they have the bar area in the same room as the breakfast area I don't know. Then they started to become louder and louder until they were all shouting over each other. It never occurred to me that we might need my daughter's ear defenders at breakfast at a spa hotel so she was sat at the table shaking with her hands over her ears. We retreated to the bedroom. At least they were only here to play golf. We thought we'd avoid the hotel for the day and come back in the evening to go to the spa. After a day trying to avoid the rain, we returned to the hotel to find the group were still there and seemed to have taken over the hotel. The noise they were making was outrageous and they were intimidating - standing in the way when we were trying to walk past etc. We decided we couldn't go to the spa or eat in the restaurant with these people running amok so we went out for food. When we came back they were back in the bar, shouting. We retreated to our room again. At 1.30am they were shouting in the corridoor. At 2.30am they were doing it again. The hotel state that they expect smart casual dress in the restaurant and reserve the right to ask you to leave. Yet apparently, as long as there are more people in your group than they have staff, you can do whatever you like including being utterly disrespectful to other guests. I cannot comment on the pool or spa as we never saw them, despite this being the main reason we chose this hotel, given the weather forecast. We complained at reception when we left and received an apology, otherwise they would have received only one star as a rating. They did not offer us any form of refund or anything else and we didn't ask for one. We were just glad to be leaving. It's one of the worst stays I've ever had anywhere...and I travel a lot.

I purchased our 3 day stay through secret escapes so was a little apprehensive as to what to expect...I needn't have been! Our rooms are spacious and clean, the pool/spa area is perfect for a dip, hot tub dunk and a steam, and the grounds are kept immaculate. The hotel is set on a very pretty site. We had breakfast and three course dinner included, both were of an excellent standard with the dinner menu changing daily. Staff were always pleasant and eager to go the extra mile. We are a family group across three generations and so it's often hard to please all however the team here have made our stay incredibly pleasant. Thank you, we've had a super time!

Myself and 4 ladies had booked a weekend spa break at the hotel. It was a belated 50th birthday w/end. From the moment we arrived, the ladies on reception and the hotel manger were wonderful. Everyone was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. They made us feel very relaxed from the moment we stepped in the door. The front was wonderful, breakfast absolutely delicious, the spa was great and the treatments very relaxing, we will certainly be returning for a second visit.

It was average. Staff were friendly, room was clean. We had a massage booked, as a birthday present. The spa staff were lovely, and the massage very relaxing. The swimming pool was small, but pleasant enough. The location of the hotel is very nice. Lovely views across the golf course. I didn't have much luck with the food though. Off the evening menu, I started with scallops. I love scallops, but generally they do have some taste. Next, I ordered the catch of the day, then was told they had no catch of the day! Maybe I could have been told this before I ordered? So, I settled for beef bourginon. Which was ok. At breakfast, we both ordered croissants, and were informed that they only had one left. It was mid way through breakfast, so not sure why. We were told that we could wait 20 mins for some more, but I was ready to go home by now. Maybe, we just caught them on a bad day.

We've been celebrating a birthday at The Dartmouth every January for eighteen years. January is not the best month for birthdays with unpredictable weather but we've always enjoyed our visit to The Dartmouth. We've had the pleasure of excellent, spacious accommodation. A truly warm welcome and a special event to look forward too. The food was, as always, very enjoyable. The dinner menu changed daily. Breakfasts are excellent. Marek and Richard were a ray of sunshine at breakfast even on the greyest morning with the rain beating down. We so looked forward to seeing Charlie at dinner. We really will miss her. Charlie has always been lovely but on this visit she went the extra mile. I'd been unwell and my appetite suffered. Charlie took time to consider what would tempt me and not be too much. She was spot on. Thank you Charlie, so much. A special thank you to Sharon Wilkonson in Housekeeping. Such attention to detail and very kind. Also thank you to Leah on reception. Your smile lights up a room. Last but not least. The maker of magic. Dee. Dee has helped to make many of our visits so very special and together with Carl weve always receive such a lovely welcome. Thank you Dee for everything. Sadly our birthday celebrations at The Dartmouth will be no more and we really will miss them and all our friends. The hotel is booked over next year's birthday and our chosen accommodation not available. It's life. This birthday planner has her work cut out finding an alternative destination but I"m up for the challenge. Just know we will miss you guys and thank you, for 18 great birthdays and happy memories.

Thi hotel was booked because it looked quite luxurious from the pictures , it is a nice hotel which is really geared up for golfers even has a golf shop inside hotel. We stayed for 2 nights the room was nice had everything we needed beware of low ceilings though in room 306. Meals were very tasty with a good choice and staff very attentive. The spa I think could be better we couldnt have any treatments as booked out so if you want anything book well in advance as its not the biggest of places the pool area is clean and warm but can get claustrophobic if a bit busy we personally wouldn't stay here again as we felt isolated and surrounded by golf talk it is not for us

The hotel itself needs some modernising with silly things like no plugs by the bed and paint flaking. The rooms are basic but warm and comfortable. The amenities could also benefit from an up grade however, the food was fabulous! I have an allergy but nothing was too much trouble and the food a high quality. It is totally golf focused and the spa provides a pleasant break from the noise of the bar.

I booked my wife, mother in law and sister in law through Groupon a Spa day. They were looking forward to a relaxing day, but when they arrived after a 2 hour drive, it was crowded; There was no available lockers, there was no available deck chairs (they arrived at 11am, didn't get a chair till 2:30pm). Communication was lacking about where to go. Service was slow. They ordered their food and drinks, but the staff apologised because they'd forgotten! Food arrived after 20 mins from initial ordering, but drinks came after. They'd dropped the food off, but completely forgot about the cutlery, nor did they have time to check that they were ok. It was abundantly clear that both the spa and restaurant was understaffed and overbooked! (There was only 2 waiters on the bar/restaurant and all the tables were pretty much taken/full, also 1 member of staff working in the spa reception for the numerous spa guests!) It wasn't a relaxing day at all for my family or the other guests. It feels like management was greedy and took on all those bookings without consideration for quality of service to its guests. We'd like a partial refund please, our experience wasn't good. Some of your poor staff looked like they were going to have mental breakdown; you should compensate them too.

Booked four nights with my daughter. Loved every minute. Great room, spotlessley clean, super bathroom with walk in shower. Spa was immaculate, wonderful staff, Sophie and Amanda were great. Everything you need is there. Restaurant was very good, superb service and wonderful choice of food. Marek and Richard made our stay. Very professional staff throughout, including the cleaning staff. We shall definitely return soon.

partner booked this as a birthday treat. can be hard to find with using sat nav. not enough chair/loungers by the pool. mud treatment wasn't good however the staff and lunch was brilliant. would come back again but for different treatment

Special 16th birthday visit for my daughter, sister, niece and myself. Fantastic, caring staff who went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and that our requests were able to be happily accommodated. On arrival, Dee at reception dealt with us in a genuine, friendly manner and assisted with the secret birthday requirements very professionally. The bar/restaurant staff were always happy to help, Marek seemed to be on duty morning, noon and night and yet never failed to provide excellent service. Charlie in the restaurant was so happy to offer superb food choices for my daughter, who is a vegan and we were so impressed with the way she appeared to go above and beyond what could be considered great service. Exceptional! The food as a whole was tasty and a pleasurable selection...however, the full English breakfast was not up to standard and appeared to be perhaps prepared too far in advance. Hard eggs and bacon and congealed beans. Apart from this, we were very happy with the service. The pool and Spa facilities were not huge, but quite adequate with amazing views over the golf course. Could do with updating in places but on the whole, was clean and in working order. Hotel room was smartly presented and the beds and bedding of great quality...very comfortable and beautiful views. Would definitely recommend this place and would happily return for repeat stays. Great staff and setting are definitely amongst the highlights for us!

We took advantage of the one night DBB for £99 and it was worth every penny. Room was lovely but a bit chilly - heater was not man enough. We could hear neighbours snoring too which wasn't great. The 2 course evening meal was really nice, some of the best tasting food i've had for a while but let down as could have been warmer. Breakfast was great but we were told we had to wait for cooked as a table of 9 had sat down just before us which I don't think is good enough. We just kept being told to visit the cold buffet!!! Spa is really nice and we were lucky it was quiet. We both had massages - husband loved his but mine wasn't great, very limp and repetitive movements. Bar area was nice with a lovely atmosphere and some lovely friendly staff. All in all we had a great stay. Close to dartmouth too which we enjoyed on a sunny day.

this was our second visit but not to the same self catering accommodation. both times we have had grandchildren who have really enjoyed the pool especially when the weather is poor- frequently! the fireworks on new years eve were spectacular-even the rain stopped in time! the position is stunning and very convenient-dartmouth,blackpool sands and even paignton zoo is not far. it is a pity that there is no official access to the golf course paths for walking especially when the course was mainly closed due to the amount of rain. we had an incident with 1 solitary bad tempered golfer who was playing 3 balls off the 18th tee.

We stayed in a cottage over Christmas. We found the accommodation to be excellent (especially the kitchen, which was good enough to cook a full Christmas dinner). Our main issue - which would prevent us from booking this again as we didn't find it family friendly. The weather was bad when we stayed so swimming was to be a key activity. The swimming times for children were very limited to 1.5 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon. The pool was closed on Christmas day (no problem) but open lat e on Boxing day 10am which meant only 30 mins swimming for children. After discussion and negotiation with the spa manager we managed to extend our swimming until 11am. The hotel has no children's play area or room and the bistro / bar area was not child friendly. The golfers considered us with complete disdain. Despite having their own separate golf entrance, one golfer 'took out' my son with his golf bag in the hotel entrance and didn't even apologise. We had to be very careful of golf buggies when walking from hotel to our cottage, the golfers felt that they had priority. We asked in the Pro shop if we could use the golf paths and walk around the course, we even dared to ask if we could hire a buggy and drive round it - obviously a resounding no on both suggestions. Reception weren't especially friendly and we only cracked a smile from one spa attendant. To be honest it was all very COLD in more ways than one. Great for self catering stay but not really for young families.

We booked our New years celebrations at this hotel near Dartmouth. The ballroom for the Black tie dinner was beautifully prepared and the drinks reception before dinner was most enjoyable. The menu was short but excellent in quality and presentation. like the rest of the hotel the service levels were outstanding, particularly at such a busy time of the festive season. Following dinner we were entertained by a superb group. After midnight a disco took over and played until we stopped dancing....14.15. The evening was a great success and we will be returning BEFORE next new year. On our second day the breakfast service was thoughtfully extended to 11.00 .As always the staff went out of their way to make sure everybody had exactly what they required. Exactly the same happened at dinner that evening. To think when we checked out the next morning (at noon!) we had not used the golf course, Spa or swimming pool !!. We will stay an extra day next time and fit these in!. So in summary a splendid hotel with absolutely outstanding service!!

We had a pleasant stay but it was not quite a hotel feel as it is mainly a golfing venue with a sports feel. Missing the normal hotel lounge fires and plush seating in the reception areas. This was a purpose built sports facility for golf which felt comfortable but did not have the luxury feel of a country hotel.

Having stayed 4 times now, I think this hotel is in an ideal countryside location with great views across the golf course and down the valley, yet only 4 miles from lovely Dartmouth and it's wonderful estuary harbour. The hotel offers a range of good facilities including golf and spa, and serves great quality food, and all at very reasonable prices.

Staff were very pleasant, food was very nice, hotel was clean. Only small negative was the Wi-Fi signal was hit and miss, would connect sometimes but not others. Also very slow. Golf course was great, all in all a nice experience at this hotel.

Had a great stay with my son, and he also loved the facilities and ambience of the hotel and felt very comfortable at the hotel and was treated as a young adult. Very friendly staff in the Spa area and nice food.

Beautiful setting. Spa very good. Food ok, menu limited but good. All in all a good spa break. Staff very friendly. Swimming pool and spa centre excellent. Golf coarse stunning. Would Recommend for a romantic spa weekend. Will visit again for sure.

My daughter and I booked this spa break for our birthdays and it was worth every penny. We left today feeling totally relaxed; having enjoyed our stay so much. The room was clean, comfortable and so quiet, especially since we knew Christmas parties were taking place both nights we stayed, we did not hear a thing. The spa and massages were excellent. A special mention to the chef who provided my daughter with the best vegan choices she has ever been offered in any of the places we have stayed (we go away every year as our birthdays are a day apart). The food was beautifully cooked and very tasty, the restaurant staff were helpful and friendly as were all the hotel staff. Thank you very much we enjoyed every minute.

Brought my husband for a mini Spa break. We absolutely loved it. Rooms felt very clean, bed was soooo comfortable I didn't want to leave. The staff members were polite and friendly. The girls at the spa were so down to earth and professional we felt very welcome. Warm welcome and departure from reception and dinner/breakfast staff were very attentive. Thank you Katie and Sophie for our relaxing treatments and thank you Sophie for converting me by giving me the 1st massage I've ever enjoyed! Back again? Yes!

My husband booked our short break as the hotel met our needs. He enjoys golf and I have just started playing. We played the short 9 hole together, then he was able to play on the championship course while I enjoy being pampered. We found the bedroom clean, fresh towels daily, bed very comfortable. Our package included 2 days bed and breakfast, dinner the day we arrived. Meals were very good. Having looked at restaurants in Dartmouth, we decided to have another evening meal at the hotel and choose the sea food platter as we both like fish. The meal was excellent, the staff member took time to bone the fish for us. Staff were generally very friendly. We used the spa facilities and pool. In all a welcomed break.

Planned this as a suprise for my wife as she needed a break. We booked this through Wowcher. The reason I gave a low mark was because of the following. * Supplement price was added onto each course of our meals. Steak was extra £9 each. From the booking and checking in this was NOT mentioned untill we placed out order. *Old buildings materials was just chucked outside out room window. *Mostly based around golfers. Not much for anyone not there for non golfers.

We stayed here as part of the spa package. The room was clean and comfortable and the spa was quiet, well maintained and relaxing. We really enjoyed our massages and using the pool/jacuzzi ect. The afternoon tea was delicious and a nice luxury. Dinner was surprisingly good, the duck being cooked to perfection and cheesecake being particuarly tasty. The biggest overall bonus were the staff who were friendly throughout but who also maintained a caring and professional approach through an emergency we had which meant we required an ambulance for my partner who has just finished chemotherapy. We would like to say a big thank you to all involved.

This is a good hotel but obviously geared towards golfers. Room, food, reestaurant and bar service, check in and out were all excellent. I have a serious health problem with breathing and can only walk readily for about 25 yards. In cold weather this is reduced a lot. The downside is that the golf captain and lady captain, with all the golf buggies, take parking precedence over the disabled parking bays. I was forced to walk further, with considerable difficulty, than the presumably physically able golfers. For this reason it will prevent me returning until the parking is changed, otherwise I would return with no hesitation. John B

Credit where credits due! This was a lovely stay and the staff were great, especially Kerry who served us. She gave us plenty of information and told us about the upcoming New Year menus explaining what's was going to be happening. So relaxing and just what's needed before I get back to work for Christmas. The staff in the spa were great, couldn't do enough for you and explained things very well. Thanks for the great time everyone.
