My husband is older and when we get a hotel room we don't want to move again so always look for a room with a lounge and a cafe. This hotel was perfect. Very clean and comfortable. The food was really good. Our compliments to the chef. We would stay there again.
Great experience! The staff is so friendly and kind. Room was clean and comfortable. Free breakfast at the attached Sawmill restaurant was a bonus. Indoor pool and slide was nice as we were there to see the grandkid. It was a pleasure to stay in your hotel while in cold lake for a family visit!
We came for the Air Show but it didn't go well for the weather related situation, however we had a perfect stay at BWI over the weekend, especially the friendly front desk staff make us feel very happy. We will definitely revisit this hotel in the future.
Very clean and friendly staff . I would stay here again . no problem , lots of parking and there is parking lot security doing walk arounds . Food was good at the restaurant lots of seating .
Overall my stay was good. I was impressed on how big the gym was and it was not a little room like some other hotels. The security was good as well. I was working late and it was nice to see that security was on site when I arrived at 11pm. Being a female and seeing that there is female staff this late at night made it safer with having security around and a peace of mind.
Best wester was a great place to stay, The checkin was quick and effortless staff was very polite amenities on this property were great ! We utilized the pool and meeting room for our group everything was excellent!
Always good when we stay here. Kids love the pool, hot tub and waterside. Restaurant, bar, slots and liquor store on site is very convenient. Sadly though breakfast is no longer included with your stay and you have to pay extra for that
Nice clean hotel, Internet was spotty, cable TV was on and off, bedside light did not work, only 1 light over the bed worked, blow dryer in the bathroom did not work, only 1 garbage bin in the bathroom, and no recycling bin.
Comfortable stay and good breakfast. Good hospitality and good for the bucks. Convenient location. Internet provider had some issues when I went last time , hopefully they get resolved the next time I'm there :)
Great place to stay. Good rates, top notch service. Nice to have Smitty's right in the building. Would recommend this venue to anyone traveling to Cold Lake for pleasure or business. A place where a business trip can turn into a pleasure trip.
Despite the staff being very busy while helping forest fire evacuee , they were exceptionally friendly , accommodating and efficient. Our room was very clean , the check in and check out process was quick and the restaurant quality was great.
We normally stay in hotel but due to lots of gear we stayed in a motel suite. Bed was great but the rest of the "suite" was a flashback to the 70s. Old green and orange uncomfortable furniture, no bedroom plugins or charger outlet. Heater in bedroom only blew cool air (not great in winter). Would not stay in motel portion again but stick with the hotel
We were here for a hockey tournament and the staff and stay was fantastic! Very helpful staff that were patient with all the excited kids running around. They loved the pool and waterslide, we would definitely stay here again.
One night stay required for an ice fishing trip. Very accommodating, super clean, and the staff were awesome. Friendliest staffing group I've ever met. Obviously busy, but very quiet and respectful clients. A great place to stay!
Main parking lot pretty tight for a bigger trailer. Staff was awesome and this was the best value we have found in a long time. Hotel had everything, we didn't need to go anywhere else. Big thank you to staff!
This was an overnight stay on a trip across western Canada. If you're passing through it's very convenient. If you're centering your trip around the lake, it's at least 3 or 4 KM south. The property is adjacent to a couple of entertainment venues, so if you're visiting on a weekend and the weather is nice, you might hear a lot of loud music because there is a rooftop establishment on the right-hand side. I usually wear ear plugs when I sleep so it didn't bother me. Parking can also be a bit tight since the lot is shared. The room was well-equipped, clean, and everything worked. The breakfast was very good. The price relative to the quality of the lodging was excellent. I'd definitely be happy staying there again.
Very friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms. Ate supper and breakfast in the Sawmill restaurant the food was very good and the staff were extremely friendly. The room, restaurant, entrance and hallways were neat, clean and well maintained. I had two issues one was the elevator door was not functioning properly and the other was street noise.
Front desk staff was rude to us, was told they would not give us any pillows, then when I asked for an extra blanket they decided to never show Up. The food server did not serve us? And the jacuzzi still had little hairs left inside it. Was I pleased with how we were treated in this hotel.
Great breakfast buffet from the Sawmill on site and comfy beds. Staff were friendly and room was clean. Even though the decor is starting to get a little dated, everything worked great. Would definitely stay again.
We, an extended family of 6, were quite happy with our stay at first, with clean rooms, comfy bed and nice amenities. Until we had the breakfast on the holiday Monday, which was aweful to say the least. We had to wait 20 minutes+ to be served and gathered our orderings, and then were told they
Big rooms, nice place and friendly staff. The only thing is I have to call twice to get my receipt to my email even though I opted for express checkout. Over all, I still enjoyed it. Breakfast is good
Clean rooms, pleasant staff, good breakfast and excellent location. Parking stalls were a little on the narrow side but all in all a good hotel. There is a pool here but we did not use. I will stay again if rates don't sky rocket.
I booked online based on the nice photos of the new-ish HOTEL building and when I got there, they sent me to the dumpy MOTEL next door. It was never clear to me in the reservation and when I asked at check-in, they said tough luck too bad. The room itself had been renovated at some point in the past. It had a comfortable bed and hot shower with good water pressure. Furniture was dumpy and worn. But the air conditioner was louder than Boeing 747 and went on and off all night. Old coffee maker but no kettle and when I asked, they didn't have one. Did not service room in 3 nights but you could get extra worn out towels. Sketchy neighbourhood. They offered a complimentary breakfast which was standard hotel buffet fare. Only went once.
A Nice quiet clean hotel. Pet friendly which was a bonus. Friendly staff. Pool was good for the kids it was warm and also has a water slide they could have stayed in the pool for the entire trip. Subway and dominos are close by for walking. Hotel has a restaurant its good but a bit pricey. Will stay again
Best Western Cold Lake is a great hotel. Clean and cozy. Friendly staff. A great pool. Complimentary breakfast. I enjoyed my stay in the Jucuzzi room. I would recommend this hotel, good price and a great safe place to stay
we had a wonderful stay. The pool was warm, and so nice to have just to ourselves. The staff was very helpful, and attentive. It was nice to be called by name when we came in or had a question. We were also able to have our dog with with us, which was very important. The breakfast was amazing, hot and fast! 10/10 would recommend!
We have stayed at this hotel a few times and have always had a great experience. The staff are working really hard to make sure all the restrictions are met without any issues for the guests. We will stay here again
Right from check in to check out the service at this Best Western was outstanding. The Sawmill restaurant in the hotel had amazing food and service. From pool to hot tub to supper to the casino you didn't even need to leave the hotel. I would definitely stay at this Best Western again.
I was offered a great rate to stay for the weekend I phoned the hotel and booked. Was signed up with Best Western reward was an added bonus. Check in was quick and easy. Front staff was good about replenishing items when you asked at the front desk for your room towels, soap, etc. The continental breakfast was a great added bonus. Downside was the breakfast was small you only got three item choices which wasn't enough to fill you up. The sausage wasn't cooked enough, the scrabbled eggs had black in the meaning old eggs, and the pancakes were good but too small in size. The pool was good, waterslide was fast. Downside the hot tub was a luke warm bath. Pool towels needed to be checked on and replenished more often. At times we had to go and ask for towels as there was one or none left. Location was awesome, restaurants were close by walking distance if you wanted different than the one inside the hotel.
We enjoyed our stay at the Cold Lake Inn so very much!!! The Jacuzzi Suite was awesome!! The staff were all super friendly and answered all our many questions about Cold Lake!!! The room was very comfortable and clean! This hotel also has a pool and Hot Tub!! The complimentary breakfast at the Sawmill Restaurant in the hotel was excellent, and we had a number of very good menu items to choose from!! We will definitely stay at this hotel again if we ever come back to Cold Lake!! It really should have a “Plus” added to its Best Western name, as it was a superior hotel in all respects!
First time in almost 15 years returning to Cold Lake. Hoitel well situated with restaurant, Liquor stor and VLT games room. All possibly opening by July. Hot breakfast Pick up available as is room service in the evening for supper. Direct access to Military Base and short drives to Harbour and great local beach.
We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Cold Lake Inn. The staff were friendly and welcoming. While the Deluxe 2 Queens Room was spacious and clean, we found the lighting in our room a little dim. The pool and waterslide was a hit with the kids. We also got to enjoy the VLT lounge and a nice dinner at Sawmill, both conveniently attached to the hotel.
My son and I stayed here while we were fishing. The staff and room were perfect. We really enjoyed the pool as well but the water slide might be the fastest in North America so be careful lol. The continental breakfast had lots of selections and was very tasty.
The sawmill food was very expensive for over-spiced and over-cooked food. We NEVER send food back to the kitchen but this time we had to, the $70 steak was leather and the seafood side that came with it tasted like it was baking in the sun on an old fishing boat in +30 weather then scraped onto our plates. The room was nice and modern, hotel was clean but the bed was very uncomfortable, pillows were rocks and only had 1 thick duvet I almost died under.
very cozy hotel, all the staff are friendly and accomodating, Our rooms ate always clean. Very affordable. Restaurant are serving great food. Great service, parking are not a problem on our big van, will definitely stay here again
Staff provided a "Pet" room which met my needs perfectlyt. I dined at the restaurant and the food was great. The folks who provide the service are eager to be their best, That is what I appreciated the most. This location is great value for your money.
The service at the front desk is second to none. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The continental breakfast is a brown bag breakfast, which is grab and go. Juice in the bag instead of water would have been preferred. Probably done that way maybe due to some peoples allergies
The staff was friendly and helpful from the start, by helping us with a play pen for the baby. The on site restaurant was the Sawmill and the food was delicious. The room was clean and beds were comfortable had a good night sleep. I would stay again.
Professional staff. Friendly and courteous. Always very clean. Efficient check ins and outs. Nice having a restaurant or two to choose from in the same building or nearby. Always my first choice in hotels.
The hotel was very dirty in areas, the elevator had spit all over the walls and the toilet in our room was fixed with a plastic cup, not to mention it says on there website a free hot or cold breakfast and there was nothing, they didnt offer anything, so for me and a child it was a $30 plus tip breakfast and i didnt get my coffee until i was half way through.......pluse the hotel was pretty empty but they decided to put us above the bar so at 130am my 9 year old is in the window watching drunk natives scream and yell and fight in the middle of the street.......
excellent services I received during my stay at BW Hotel at Cold Lake. I would have stayed longer if the business would have allowed. Planning to go and stay on my next trip which could be the end of this year or early next year.
The room was very nice ... hotel was clean... efficient... lounge personnel very helpful as were desk staff. A welcoming hotel chain. The restaurant however left much to be desired. Cost of dinner was not reflective of the locale .. nor was there a relationship between the cost and the quality of the food...
Staying here makes traveling away from my family a little easier. Room comfortable and clean. Stocked with coffee everyday. Comfortable bed with lots of pillows. Couch and chair were good for relaxing on after a day of work. Restaurant downstairs with a delicious menu.
Stayed here for a night while in town for work and was thoroughly impressed. The decor is stylish and different from any of the other Best Westerns I have stayed at. The front desk agent was very friendly and professional. I visited both The Sawmill Lounge and the gaming lounge to check them out. Service was great in both, and the prices were reasonable. The room I was in was clean and comfortable. We will likely stay here again.
I like this hotel and it will be my main pick in cold lake as it has walk out pet rooms and I need that. They do charge a fairly steep rate to keep a pet in the room. However at least they have an option. The other bigger hotels won't even give an pet option.
Visited for a 1 night stay. Check in was easy and quick. Room was very clean and spacious. Had a microwave and fridge. Stayed on the second floor right by the elevator but was not noisy at all. Air worked well all night. Sawmill restaurant attached to hotel was very good. Shower was hot with plenty of pressure. Towels and linens were fresh and white. Check out was just as easy. Complimentary refreshments in the lobby. Would definitely stay here again.
The positive aspects include spacious rooms and the Sawmill restaurant within the hotel. Parking is pretty good. I was however disappointed that the room was not as clean as I had thought it would be - based on so many reviews. The room smelled musty and the chairs by the table are quite filthy - they could use a good cleaning. It was quite noisy with doors banging and people talking outside my window late at night and early morning. I had a room on the ground floor. I arrived late on a Sunday and the restaurant was closed so I popped down to the vending machines which were all pretty much empty.
This hotel was very clean, had great things to do which as the bar, Sawmill and the pool. Created a very enjoyable stay. The staff was very friendly and the service was amazing. Defiantly will be staying here again
The pool and water slide are definitely a hit with the kids. While the kids are playing in the pool the hot tub is great for the parents. This was our second stay at the hotel after getting invited back by the staff.
We had a wonderful nights sleep at this Hotel. the room was very well maintained and clean as was the entire hotel. The bed was very comfy and the west wing was really quiet, we never heard a thing all night!! We also enjoyed an excellent meal in the lobby restaurant.
The staff are always extremely friendly & accommodating. The rooms are clean. The pool is something the kids really look forward to. We get the balcony room which is especially nice in the summer. The sawmill offers a tasty breakfast and the hotel offers 50% until 10am.
Hotel is an older place but maintained. We have stayed here before and will again but will look for someplace different to eat. Had trouble last time and did again this. Didn't have menu items and prime rib was way overcooked.
Nice place, stayed in the Motel part of the Hotel, rooms were renovated, but had some dated features that were not updated, (lights and plug ins ) room was very clean and modern. i will be staying there again.
I won a night stay and took my grand children for a night of pool time and a meal out. My house was being renovated so the timing was perfect. The pool area is kept very clean and the slide is excellant. Our room was very good.
This hotel has everything you need. A great place to stay, large spacious room, excellent meals, liquor store, VLT if you want to try your luck and excellent location! The staff are extremely friendly and go out of their way to provide you a tremendous experience. Lots of parking and a very clean hotel. Great pool and waterslide! You will not be disappointed. My sheets were changed when I asked and my sunglasses were taken off my dresser. I mentioned this to the manager And she said that they were not responsible for lost or stolen items. I was in the room for 5 weeks and have made many more trips back to cold lake and stayed elsewhere. Be wary if you stay here with your personal belongings. Besides that the hotel is clean and the staff were pleasant. And the food was excellent. Just want to let people know that there are gambling machines in the hotel and if you stay in any rooms above the area you will hear people entering all night.
a nice stay , only the breakfast was not that good , the food was not warn enough and it was placed in the hall instead of the dining room so you had to travel with your plates . the chooses you had where good ,
Meals at the Sawmill were awesome, Hot Tub was hot, Waterslide was great. Gym equipment top notch. Wife enjoyed the VLT's in Ruths. The staff whether it was the front desk, the restaurant or the housekeeping...you could not find more pleasant staff. They were all smiling and very helpful as we had not been to Cold Lake before and needed to find the hockey arena. Need to make sure that you ask if you are in the hotel or in the motel part when booking.
Great place to stay always love staying here they was great beds are so comfortable the staff is great the food was great I'm not sure if there was a breakfast use to get a ticket for breakfast but did not get one other wise the stay was great
Overall a really great experience. The restaurant connected to the hotel was top notch, with great service and excellent food, which was very tasty and well presented. To top it all off, breakfast came at a 50% discount for those patrons who were also staying at the hotel.
I'm on the road every week and visit Cold Lake 4 times a year and this is the only place I'd stay. Excellent hotel with excellent amenities and service! I use everything they have to offer and look forward to every visit!
great hotel and terrific friendly staff.the noise in the lobby from the people waiting to get into the adjoining restaurant was so loud that you couldn't hear the BW check in staff very well. I finally gave the restaurant group a "look" and they were quieter. the restaurant waiting line needs to be relocated out of the hotel lobby.
Had a birthday here for my wife's 30th and it was done very well. Excellent food and great organization. They don't charge you to use the projector and helped setup the room. Overall a great little party and excellent food from the sawmill.
Stayed at the Best Western Inn - Cold Lake while visiting for a family wedding. The lobby was extremely clean as was the room. We were upgraded to a king suite which suited our needs perfectly. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, the mattress in the pull-out couch appeared to have never been used, and the bathroom was spotless. We ate at the Sawmill Restaurant for breakfast and the food was good. As an added bonus, there is a discount on breakfast when you stay at the hotel. The pool was warm and clean, and the water slide is fast! Overall, we had a great stay. I would highly recommend this hotel when staying in Cold Lake.
Found this hotel in Cold lake with a Sawmill restaurant attached. (Sawmill in an excellent restaurant, great value). The cost was more than fair, and the rooms were quite nice. I would highly recommend this Best Western.
No issues with hotel or facilities. Great location and always clean and comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful. Restaurant has great prime rib and also great service. Beds are always comfortable and nice to have your own mini fridge and microwave.
All good for the price and the city. Bed was comfortable and the room was clean and tidy. Service was acceptable, early check in and fast check out. The restaurant was good but I didn't like the breakfast though.
The front desk staff was very helpful. The Sawmill Restaurant food was below par this time. The pool was nice but the jets on the hot tub did not function on this trip, but the staff did say that maintenance was working on the problem.
This is a very nice hotel. The rooms are large, clean and the beds are comfortable. My children enjoyed the pool and water slide very much. They have cold water and coffee on the main floor at all times which is a super nice touch. There are several restaurants on site. I highly recommend this site for families with children of all ages.
Centrally located. Rooms were large and clean, beds were comfortable. Quiet. Had no problems with the wifi. Check-in was quick. Great service. Breakfast buffet was good. Restaurant was also very good.
I was staying at this hotel for work, and would recommend it for either work or play. Easy to access off the highway, delicious breakfast, and a very good hotel restaurant. The staff was helpful and friendly. I couldn't possibly have asked for more - staff was helpful with any request I had. Rooms were clean and comfortable.
This is a convenient location, the staff are always professional, friendly and helpful, The rooms could use better lighting and new carpet. The restaurant staff was very good, as well as the food. Always a good bet.
We enjoyed our stay and will probably stay there the next time we travel to Cold Lake. The Hotel was clean and the staff was great. We enjoyed the breakfast at the Sawmill restaurant. My kids enjoyed swimming in the pool, using the slide and soaking in the hot tub.
Super nice rooms with the best beds and bedding. Really clean and good valve. The staff is so helpful and friendly. We loved all the amenities of this property. The pool and waterslide were a huge hit with our granddaughter. It was clean and well maintained. We really enjoyed all our meals in the dining room and lounge. The buffet was so reasonable and high quality dishes. We call could not stop talking how much we enjoyed it. Nice touch to have coffee and cold water all day complimentary in the lobby.
this hotel is not a 4 star hotel, scum in and on the walls of the Jacuzzi. a four foot pool that was so murky you couldn't see the bottom. rusty brown stains on the bath towel and on the pillows, During my stay, on one night the room was not cleaned and the towels not replaced. On another occasion house keeping walked into my room without even knocking... the power breaker tripped in my room.. they told me I had too many electrical devices plugged in, I have only my computer plugged in. now with minus 20 temp outside the heater broke.. a terrible sound from the bearings, I turned it off. should I change rooms. its 2am now I need to be at work by 5am... another great night. I call a 1 800 customer service number... sorry the office is only open from 7am to 8pm. I called reservations, they are available 24hrs a day the lady couldn't help me but agreed and admitted that it was a terrible business practice. I will stay here for another 3 hrs then I will check out and never return... I hear the holiday inn across the road was a much better place. this hotel is definitely not a 4 star hotel... to suggest this seems like a joke
Rooms were very clean and staff was amazing...if I had a negative I would have to say that the shower head could be better it didn't work very well...this improvement however small would be a nice improvement to an already great experience.
This Best Western hotel in Cold Lake appears very new and clean and was a very comfortable stay! With a restaurant and liquor store right on site, you don't have to go far at all to enjoy your stay. The base price on the website is for an older separate motor-inn style portion of the hotel so I would recommend spending a few bucks more to stay in the newer main building where your door is in a hallway, not opening to the outdoor elements!
I was on a 10 day road trip. 5 cities with 5 different hotels. This was, hands down, the comfiest bed ever. Quite possibly the comfiest ever, but perhaps because I was exhausted. My only complaint was that I only had 6 hours to actually enjoy it because of a hectic schedule. Amazing sheet set. Heavy duvet that was very welcomed in the frigid cold. Front desk staff were amazing. The place was immaculately clean. Bar/restaurant attached so no need to stray far from the hotel. Well done, Best Western.
The Best Western was good, clean, and staff was attentive, good place to stay. Overall I would say this is an above average place to stay while in Cold Lake. Parking seems to be a bit limited in the winter, but can work around that. Location is good close to other amenities in the area.
The staff and management were over the top accommodating. We were given a large group discount for the team and coaches. The hotel when one further and extended to anyone traveling to watch the team play in Cold Lake. We checked with multiple hotels and this facility with its management were the only ones wanting to work with us. I would stay anywhere else after the service we received.
This hotel is very clean it has very nice staff. I enjoyed my stay here I love that there is a swimming pool and hot tub I was disappointed that it doesn't have a continental breakfast but overall my stay was good.
Very nice hotel. Reception area is elegant and modern. Reception staff were professional and welcoming. Lounge staff were attentive and friendly. Nice little casino in the hotel. The rooms were immaculate and modern. Definitely recommend.
We stayed at the Best Western for a last minute trip to Cold Lake. We had a fast check in, the room was nice and clean and cozy. i definitely recommend this hotel if you are ever travelling to Cold Lake.
We stayed in a VIP suite and it was amazing! Beautiful room with everything you could ask for. Very nice staff and were willing to give us a discounted rate. The suite had Jacuzzi tub for two in the bedroom and a fireplace open to both the bedroom and sitting room Great room for that romantic get away with your loved one. :)
Very nice hotel. Reception area is elegant and modern. Reception staff were professional and welcoming. Lounge staff were attentive and friendly. Nice little casino in the hotel. The rooms were immaculate and modern. Definitely recommend.
Staff was very pleasant and accommodating for our needs. They provided a thorough explanation of the hotel's amenities, services, etc. A little difficult finding a parking space at busy times for hotel access.
Good hotel, nice restaurant, smart staff, busy parking lot. In the past the breakfast was included in the room price. Now you have to pay extra for the breakfast, but you can choose between continental and order. The breakfast is in the restaurant.
Stayed at this hotel as I was told it was the only one that had a restaurant and bar. It's not. In any event, stayed in the main tower. Rooms are ok. Beds real good all else pretty average. Restaurant and bar were exceedingly poor. Very slow service, ill equipped staff and downright awful food. We were on first attempt a larger group. Some orders never came, others were served prior to those who had ordered a half-hour or more earlier. Waitress was overtaxed and no one came in to assist. Food was just tasteless, dry and simply unsatisfactory. The menu prices are not cheap either! Second try the next day was no better. Wish I could say otherwise. If you stay here, stay for the beds. Little else to attract you. Can't say I associate value with this location given that combination.
When we checked in, we were assigned to room 213. My god, the stench in that room was nauseating; we never made it past the front door. The desk clerk assigned us to a new room and things started to get better from there. This new room was clean and comfortable with a great TV and cable channel selection. The climate control system was spot on and easy to use. The room came with an ironing board and iron which I actually used and they were both clean and in good repair. This hotel is somewhat of a contradiction. I was surprised to see the same fingerprints and smudges on the elevator mirror as we checked out after having stayed for three nights but the public washroom just down the hall was spotless. The in-room hotel guide clearly stated that safety deposit boxes are available. But sadly, the only option was to place our items in the common safe that all staff can access. No thanks...we made alternate arrangements. The Sawmill restaurant has an absolutely fantastic breakfast at a special rate for hotel guests. Don't pass that opportunity. Additionally, if you are lucky, a server by the name of Raj will be assigned to you. He is a true ambassador for this hotel and a fine gentleman. Thanks Raj!!! So, after our initial unpleasant experience with room 213 which was quickly rectified, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to others.
The hotel itself was very good and comfortable. The staff were not quite up to the same standards as the physical hotel. They were not rude but just seemed to be doing the minimum required for their job. Both the lobby and the hotel room itself were very nice and inviting and the free wi-fi worked well. Stayed in the "other" building and the rooms were still pretty nice.
Had a great 2 night stay at this hotel...everything was up to par and no complaints! Pool was very clean which was great! Rooms were clean and the over all shape of the hotel was great, we used the lounge for a late dinner and it was good with great service. Our check in we were greeted with friendly professional staff! The hotel was quiet which was nice as well. Breakfast was 50% off when staying there which was a nice touch, made our family breakfasts a great deal! (the sausage needs to be replaced with another brand...wasn't very good...that's my only complaint :)
I stayed in the annex - though hotel is connected to the Sawmill restaurant which was very busy my room (which was on the main floor) was super quiet, room was very sound proof which I greatly appreciated. Room was very clean, bed comfy.
Enjoyed our trip to Cold Lake. The bed was very comfy and staff was excellent. The hotel is in the middle of town and access is excellent. There is a Sawmill restaurant on site which adds to the quality of stay.
We came to cold lake for a reunion. We always stayed at Best Western Cold lake. As always our stay was perfect. From the Front desk staff to the Housekeeping and the restaurant staff, they are all friendly and accommodating.
We had an awesome time.. Excellent service!.... Our room was very clean....we will definitely be back. and I will highly recommend this hotel..... They also have an onsite restaurant and we enjoyed the food so much.
Checked out at 8:45 am, staff was very friendly. Will stay again, if in the area. Was a bit of a hassle having to walk around the barrier between the parking stall and the door to the room. Too bad there wasn't a bigger area to walk the dog.
For $140 per night I would expect breakfast to be included. Pool kept running out of towels, hallways we cold & not very clean. We were only given 3 towels in room even though I booked for 4 people, had to keep asking for towels.
The first room we went to smelled like vomit. The nice front desk lady changed rooms immediately.. the other smelled musty and I had to fix the toilet.. but my kids would not be sick to stay in the room so we decided not to complain.. again. Buffet was missing milk for cereal and butter for toast, pancakes and French toast... none was available. Would not have gotten buffet if we would have known this.. expensive cookies and fruit we ate.
Canadian and USA persons stay here. We attended Grandsons baseball tournament which the won first place, weather was cool and windy, but this is usual for this time of the year Cold Lake is a huge city now and a very large military base for flyers in Canada. Met US military gents from Texas.
This is a nice hotel and is reasonably priced as compared to major centres. The Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean. I would suggest staying in the motel side as compared to the hotel side. The rooms seem a little nicer and are quieter.
Great hotel, friendly staff. Very clean and comfortable room, lots of space. Have stayed here twice and both times have been excellent. On site restaurant and lounge is very good and a great convenience.
Staff were very friendly and efficient getting us checked in. This is a practical hotel, with all the typical amenities, like pool and hot tub, business centre, conference rooms, etc. We found the decor in the lobby a bit dark. The rooms were a good size, with good lighting. Although a few kilometres from the lake shore with its boutiques, spas and restaurants, it is in the centre of "south" Cold Lake, close to the big box stores and the Canadian Forces Base. The hotel does have a good restaurant. The hallways and elevators could have used a vacuum, however, but it was a long weekend, so perhaps some staff were away.
Myself and staff had a great stay at this hotel. We felt at home the minute we arrived till we left.Clean large rooms and superb dinning and lounge. The staff couldn't be more helpful. We can't wait until we go back in Sept.
We stayed here again a couple of weeks back.... prices seem to be cheaper then last time which is a plus. Room was quite warm and there didn't seem to be any way to turn on the air conditioner. View was terrible..we faced a brick wall...We were offered breakfast .. at 50% off.. it used to be free.. so we went else where for that. Beds seemed comfy enough ...shower was good... and the pool enjoyable... I am sure we will stay here again.. even though they are finally getting more and better accommodation in the city of Cold Lake.
We enjoyed our stay, the pool was excellent the hospitality the family restaurant that is available in there was great, the location is good, close to town with all services available in walking distance, I would stay there again I enjoyed the satay.
1 respect for people's illnesses. I was in the Resturant and asked if the could refrain from using the cleaner willing I was present eating. I have liver disease and allergic to chemicals. When they sprayed the chemicals I got tightness in chest, trouble breathing and dizzy with blurry vision. I asked the manager if they could refrain from spraying the chemicals or I would have to leave the Resturant now. Manager said they would make sure they didn't spray while I was there. During my meal they sprayed again twice and it made me so sick I had to leave before my meal was completed and didnt have a chance to see what there was for desert. 2 the room smelled with odors and dirty. Even though this is a room that allow pets I didn't expect to have a bad smelling room with stain carpets specially paying 160.00 a night. 3 when I went to pay for the room, the printer was not working and couldn't get receipt. I asked for email however had to call back later that day and request the receipt again.
Great hotel providing a good location and great service. We stay there when we are in Cold lake visiting family. The rooms are large and very nice. The beds are very comfortable. The rooms have a wonderful feeling of coming home. It is always a vert enjoyable stay.
This Hotel is very clean - has a friendly staff, good prices for accommadations , quiet rooms , has lounge , pool , fitness center. Dining is a little pricey but food is good. wifi free close to downtown. I always stay here when visiting. No need to go anywhere else. A little more parking would be a asset, can get jammed up sometimes.
I have been having to travel up to Cold Lake for work as of recently. This will have been my first review of any hotel I have stayed at, and I have stayed in many! I want to give a huge shout out to all the staff that work at this Hotel, as right from the checking in, to housekeeping to the servers and bar tenders in the sawmill, they make you feel like you are at home and nothing is to big of a task to want to make you feel welcome. I have had many colleagues also stay here as well and they all say the same thing, The hotel staff at this hotel, make it feel like a home away from home. I especially want to thank the Front end desk Staff - Carmella, and how everytime she sees me even after being a month away she always remembers my name and has a huge smile on her face to greet me. Thank you Cold Lake -Best Western, for always making me feel like being away from home wasn't really that long. Judy P
wonderful location, great pool and waterslides for children (although it goes very fast so don't try to catch them). Sunday brunch is fabulous. Try not to get a room near the elevators as they are quite loud.
We booked this hotel and very disgusted and not worth the money. Huge hockey team in there but the noise the running around screaming late at night early in the morning kept us up late and woke us up early am. Understanding the parents should control more on how the kids should act but staff too needs to enforce it. There are people who stay there for work as well as people who are commuting on long drives. Also blood smear on the inside elevator door and food outside a room from when we arrived early afternoon to the following day. We will be looking else where next time
Stayed here on business, nice and clean hotel, a standard breakfast, room was clean and quiet. Pool was clean and nice and the gym is top notch as far a hotel gyms go. Would recommend for most business travelers. Try the steak at the sawmill.
The room was clean and comfortable, bed was good, didn't like the pillows, but that is just my own personal preference. Last time we were there breakfast was included, now we just got 50% off breakfast, so this was a disappointment, seems we had kids there on a budget. The restaurant food was good , but too expensive for a sports team, and then they added the 15% tip on the food bill, which the service did not warrant a 15% tip. They didn't even have us seated together. If travelling with a sports team, next time I would book at the holiday inn across the road. Overall total price too expensive.
Very well maintained, friendly helpful staff. Has everything on site or within walking distance. Highly recommend this hotel. Great food, bar and rooms. The location is excellent for shopping or checking out the town. Too bad all the hotels weren't as good as this one.
Extremely helpful and concerned staff. The breakfast was very delicious and I made sure that I was able to eat it by getting ready in time - it was very hard to leave the extremely comfortable bed, but the breakfast was worth it. My husband has back issues and he was very happy with the comfort of the bed and pillows, as well. The room was nicely decorated and had a beautiful view of the city. I live in Cold Lake and I wanted to have a mini vacation as it was my husband's birthday and we hadn't really left the city for any long duration so I wanted something special to celebrate his birthday and provide a relaxing escape from the everyday (while still being close to home). I didn't realize how high up the hotel actually is, and from the fourth floor the view from our window was breathtaking. It was hard to believe we were in our own "home-town" and it truly was like having an escape. We had supper in the Sawmill on-site and it was very good. The breakfast was very good, as well - there was an assortment of dry cereals, scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, potato wedges, waffles, apple juice, orange juice, and toast. The rooms were very clean - even the hair blow dryer was clean (I have seen some hotels where there is dust in them). One of my favourite things about the room was the lights above the bed and to the side of the bed. I am a reader and crocheter and it is hard to read or crochet while relaxing on the bed usually, as the table lamps are not very bright or not high enough. At this Best Western in Cold Lake - the lighting was perfect - pot lights just above the headboard (perfect for reading while someone else dozed) and the lights next to the bed where bendable so that you could direct the light where you wanted it - and it was bright enough but not distracting to the dozing person. Did I mention the bed? I know I did, but I can't say it enough - the bed was like nestling into a cloud and the pillows were soft, too. Best Western is known for the comfort of their beds and pillows and this hotel did not disappoint. I will definitely be staying here again - maybe for longer next time. A hidden gem in the City of Cold Lake.
The building is nice and clean and staff were friendly. We travel a LOT and felt it was a bit pricey for what it is, but hey! Supply and demand I guess. We've stayed in lovely boutique hotels in Edmonton for the same cost. As another reviewer noted, the bed was very comfortable, but the pillows were thick and lumpy. The bedding was very soft. We also agree with another reviewer that the room was quite dark, even though our window had an unobstructed view with light coming in! The shower was great with lots of water pressure. Even though the place was full, there was never a shortage of hot water. As for the included breakfast... it was ok on Saturday, but nothing to get excited about. Enjoyed the waffle station. On Sunday, the food was in the foyer and although it was all in steam tables, everything was cold and dry (this was a full hour before breakfast ended). The pancakes were like rubber. I'm not a picky eater, but I couldn't finish my meal. My comment regarding this is, if you're going to do a full breakfast do it well. Otherwise, do a good continental breakfast and leave out the hot food. Or don't offer breakfast, reduce the room rates by a few $ and continue to offer a 20% discount at the restaraunt. Also, I don't mind using paper plates, but plastic cutlery is horrid. It really diminishes any meal. I'm impressed that management has responded to so many comments, but I hope they follow up, not just pay lip service. We'll be returning to Cold Lake in the new year.....
I have stayed in at Best Western Cold Lake Inn a number of times. It's my favourite spot. The staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean and nice and the beds were very comfy. The Sawmill on site for business dinners and the New Ruth's VLT lounge is a great time. Decent sized gym. Perfect location! If you are traveling with kids, the water slide looked like a great time. This hotel is a delight! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
Very good , clean , Food great. Pool and slide , sports bar , Lounge , and dining . Friendly staff. I Enjoyed staying there. I will stay there again when returning. It is also centered in Cold Lake which makes it convenient.
The hotel room was clean and the restaurant was very good. However it is difficult to get a good sleep because the bed quilt is so heavy and hot. You either have it on you and roast; or have it off you and freeze. We ended up asking for a regular blanket. The hotel staff were friendly. Would stay there again though.
We stayed at the best western and just took a chance to get a room the staff was very friendly and helpful gave us different places to see as we had to wait for our cousins the room was very clean and cheerful there was a soccer tournament going on that weekend but it was still very quiet and comfortable I would recommend this hotel to anyone
Gee we had booked online using a telephone agent. When we arrived at the location we were shocked with what was offered. It was on the back side of the motel complex and not in the hotel. The cost was at least $30 higher than other motels in the area. Upon entrance to the motel suite we were disgusted that it smelled of cigarette smoke. I had decided at this point to book out. If it wasn't for the clerk at the hotel counter we would have left all together. She exchanged rooms so we could stay in the main hotel. We will never book online again with Best Western and will probably stay at another hotel in the area when we go back for business. Too much hassle.
We stayed the night of August 6, 2016, ***Warning; the waterslide is too dangerous for any hotel. Parents need to be warned. I broke my collarbone on my first slide down. Another male had gotten injured on it a few minutes prior. He warned us about it. We were told by staff that in two years, nobody had notified them of any injuries. Really? On our way home, we met a total stranger in Lloydminster who knew all about this particular dangerous slide at Cold Lake Best Western. She knew a teen who had broken their arm on the slide at the Cold Lake Best Western. Had they too not bothered to mention it to the front desk? I would never let my child of any age go down this water slide. The speed at which your body is whipped against the walls of the last curves could easily lead to a concussion and possible death. Is that what needs to happen before this slide is shut down? The following day a 10 year old boy was killed on a water slide in the United States. I have been to West Edmonton Mall Water Park and enjoyed their slides of all kinds immensely. You go there knowing it is a waterpark with rides of all speeds and danger levels. The slide at Cold Lake Best Western does Not belong in a hotel. Either close it down or change the sign to Extremely Dangerous . . . Serious Injury Will Occur. As well, I found some photos on-line that are not accurate representation of this particular water slide. For example; a young girl riding a tube down a gentle water slide. Really? This needs to be corrected to accurately reflect the dangerous slide it truly is. Parents, be warned.
The location and grounds are nice. Staff friendly. But over 153 for government rate? It's robbery. Best Western's are independently run which sucks as the owners can make their own prices and rules. Also we had trouble with our room's card. Overall great stay, however would of went elsewhere if it wasn't for the pool. Also stains on white sheets. Yuck.
the Cold Lake Best Western is a very nice hotel, I have to highlite the server Joan in the Sawmill restaurant. this woman is the best employee in the hotel, she is frindly, provesional and she rememberd us from privious stays. as a little side note. the hotel went througe some renovations that improved the look a lot and looks very nice.
An ok hotel, we stayed in the older portion and the rooms are quite dated. We didn't get a look but i'm sure the new section of the hotel is much nicer. We weren't offered any choice between new or old section's. Restaurant was nice, reasonable prices, breakfast included with the room was a hot breakfast, scrambled eggs, sausage, toast, bagels, waffles, cereal etc. Staff were all friendly.
We had an amazing experience at this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, the hall we were in was nice and quiet, the food was tasty, and the beds were super comfortable! If we're ever back in the area, this is definitely where we will stay again.
We were surprised to have a room in the inn portion, but that was fine. The housekeeping staff clearly leaves the door open while cleaning (I understand that), due to this fact, we found a frog in our bathroom. Other than that the room was clean. The bed was comfortable but the pillows lumpy. It was really really dark in our room, even with the lights on. We did receive a coupon for a free breakfast for Saturday, but we would have to pay for it on Sunday. Overall, it was a fine place to sleep, but we didn't spend a lot of time there.
Had a room in the West wing, the area is under renovation. Room was fine, but needed a cleaning from the last occupants - potato chip crumbs all over the couch and floor. King bed was comfortable; pillows were awful, stuffed with foam chunks, yech. Had problems with the AC system, staff quickly fixed it. Breakfast room was too small for the number of guests, food was running out, tables and chairs were not available right away. Staff were very friendly and helpful. What the hotel needs to do is improve the breakfast area; get some better pillows on the beds; and clean the rooms with more diligence.
Maple Flag is no reason to boost your rates for regular patrons . Rates quoted vary from rate charged. Housekeeping not up to speed on who has checked out.Parking in front of motel units not reserved for checked in patrons
This hotel is a delight. Quiet room that was decorated with class & style. Quiet room even though near elevator. In Room service was excellent, as was comfy bed. We were very impressed and would certainly stay again.
I stay at this hotel with my dog... Room was really nice and clean... Only thing ... When you have your dog with you is little complicate to go out.... The hotel have rail around and only one way to get out... not really pleasant when you have the last room and not enough grass around for the "I need to go " dog things...but for people's without pets ... all is nice
Hotel was completely full for a dance competition and the hotel decided to increase their rates for a standard room to $170 a night (and that was with the AAA discount). Hotel hallway was under construction, so lots of dust and had a strong paint smell. Manager did finally give me a lower rate, but as a rewards member I was not happy that this hotel chose to gouge families and take advantage of a dance competition to make some extra money, especially when other newer hotels did not do this.
we recently stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The first two nights I paid for with my airmiles, but then we decided to stay one more night.. that evening is what was so expensive. Unfortunately, Cold Lake is way over priced to begin with.. for usually very mediocre rooms. This was a very nice Hotel though, very clean, quiet, wonderful comfy beds and a very good free breakfast in the morning. We did , however, find the room extremely warm.. even with the heat off and the window open.
I recently stayed at the BW Cold Lake for the first time. The hotel is currently under renovations but it was still clean and quiet for the time I was there. Newly renovationed rooms are in use. I stayed on the second floor and was down the hall from a well appointed gym complete with Keiser spin bike! Complimentary breakfast and good water pressure make for the start of a good day at this hotel. Travelling with kids? The waterslide looked like a great time!
my baby granddaughter turn 2 and we had a excellent weekend at the Best western we will be and has been the place of choice for the pass 7 years. the place is clean and friendly food is good , the pool is a welcome place for the children to go and burn some energy,we like coming they know our name and likes .
Not the best stay for us at a Best Western . Being a Platinum member I asked for the best rate and it was still a little high and was given a room that you had to go through the construction area plus our room had a ladder right outside the window from the construction area . We never got a room upgrade or our welcome bag as well . Overall breakfast was great , pool area very good , decent parking and close to other amenities .
Overall we had a good experience. Lovely hotel, reception staff were very helpful. They have free buffet breakfast...lots of choices and the quality of dishes are very good... This has been one of my favourite Best Western hotels.
The entire stay was a pleasant...My family stayed at Best Western Cold lake Inn to attend the hockey tournament... Staff go above and beyond to ensure we have an enjoyable stay... Definitely worth going back to!
We stayed at Best Western because we were attending a wedding in Cold Lake. The food was really good at the restaurant... rooms are spacious and the beds are comfy. The hotel staff were terrific and accommodating..
We had a wonderful time during our weekend stay at Best Western Cold Lake. Kids loved the delicious buffet breakfast and the pool with waterslides. Worth every penny spent. I like that the hotel is close to so many great restaurants. Thanks for the service!
I came to Cold Lake for a business meeting. I only stayed for 1 night but was impressed with the service...I was given a complimentary room upgrade to a deluxe king bedroom. Dedicated and helpful staff.. I look forward to returning.
Our hotel was perfectly located for our activities, the kids' hockey tournament. Stayed for two nights and had a wonderful experience. Our room was awesome, we checked in early and the staff was very accommodating.
We spend a couple of nights here and everything was great. Breakfast buffet was excellent, good wi-fi and all staff were extremely helpful. Love the swimming pool with water slides and a hot tub! We were glad that we had chosen Best Western Coldlake Inn.
I had a wonderful experience during my stay at Best Western Cold Lake Inn. Staff were very professional and friendly, clean rooms and the bed was so comfortable, great restaurant and the location is perfect! I will recommend this to anyone who is planning to visit cold lake.
We have stayed at Best Western Cold Lake Inn a number of times when in Cold Lake. It is our favorite spot. The newly renovated rooms are beautiful and the continued service of the staff at the hotel is always excellent. The breakfast buffet was really good, very convenient location, beds/linens were clean and comfortable. Worth the money in every aspect. We highly recommend this hotel!
Very clean and modern. The staff go out of their way to ensure the quality of your stay. The attached Sawmill Restaurant and bar is one of the best restaurants in town. Hotel prices in Cold Lake are still quite high (due to the oil industry) but are coming down.
The staff made our business stay and meetings a success, very accommodating above and beyond what was included, the meeting rooms were lovely and set up for us in advance, highly recommended for any business or family stays
Staying at the Best Western provided me peace of mind. I wanted a clean environment for my children and am always wary of staying in hotels when we travel. The room was exceptional and my sanity was saved. The price might be considered a bit high but it was worth it not having to worry. My kids enjoyed the swimming pool complete with a big slide while i soaked in the hot tub. The breakfast was great--it wasn't the average continental breakfast. There was a big selection for my picky eaters and the food was very good. The front staff and servers were very nice and attentive. I will definitely stay here again.
Arrived Dec 20, had our dog with us so we were contained to a specific area outside of the main building which wasn't much fun especially if you were off to the pool or hot tub, as you then returned to your room via the -temperatures outside. Breakfast was initially disappointing as most items were empty when we got there but were soon refilled. Overall I would stay again but maybe in the main building
We were here for two nights with our family of 6 over Christmas. We had ended up with a suite that had 2 queens and 1 double. Yes...a double. Didn't think they were an option anymore. Checking in on the afternoon of Christmas Eve, the place was a ghost town in terms of guests, but the front staff was warm and accommodating. Got our keys and went up to our room. This was the first kind of oddity. We were on the third floor, but had to walk down a long hallway, to get to the elevator, and get to our room. Weird but it is what it is. The property is built on an odd chunk of land, so they built as they could! Once in the room: -Bathroom decor was nice. Shower, sink, etc. were great. Enjoyed having a shower in there because it was just nice -Beds were comfortable but a double...guess there isn't enough space because of the wall for the "separate" room in our room, but I think the wall is extremely redundant. I guess if for a family, a private room for mom and dad, but really...get rid of the night stand, and I'm sure there is enough room for a queen in there. -TVs were well equipped with cable, which is awesome...HD TV at that, so we could watch decent high quality programming while the clan got ready -Lots of space in the room, but I wonder if TOO much space. Again, we had just spent time in another hotel for 4 nights in Edmonton, which was a suite, and made WAY better use of the space (2 Kings, softbed, etc.). May need to look at possible reno in the future? Downsides: -Found a plastic bag from a Calgary Co-op behind the TV in the separate room. Luckily, nothing in the bag, but wonder how long that was in there for? -Price: I spent over half for 2 nights in Cold Lake what I did in Edmonton for a similar type room for 4 nights. I can understand maybe trying to make a buck in oil country, and it wasn't like the place was filled to capacity, and even if I had paid in advance, I would have still been paying over half of what I paid in Edmonton...yeah...nice room, in a good looking hotel, but still over priced Did not have a chance to do anything for breakfast in the hotel as we were taken care of by family we were visiting, and didn't get a chance to visit the pool, so for just staying for a couple of nights, the hotel was decent, but just over priced.
This hotel is clean and pleasant The staff was friendly and helped us get checked in early so that I could attend my meeting. The breakfast which is included is very good and has a nice selection of hot items, including bacon, eggs, pancakes, toast and more.
I stay in htis hotel every time I am in Cold Lake for business. The Sawmill is on site for your business dinners nad while you do that, your family can enjoy the pool and waterslide. Excellent facility and I highly recommend it!
excellent lodging great food neat, clean quiet all the amenities provided. caring friendly and polite staff. parking is close to exit of hotel outdoor lighting is good at night. it was a good experience overall
Perfect hotel to stay if you're visiting Cold Lake TriCity Canada. Good reception, great breakfast, quiet and comfortable. There's also have Jacuzzi in the room.. Wow.. This is my first time seeing this. Not sure if this is in all rooms but this was in my King size room. Really nice. Will definitely stay here again " if and when" next I come here.
Other than a non functional fridge and housekeeping that didn't show up, things were very well done at this property. The staff were all very good and the food was very reasonable as well (Attached Sawmill).
I stayed at this hotel for a business visit and it was probably the best Best Western hotel I have ever stayed at. Although I didn't eat there for once, they have a Sawmill Restaurant in the hotel which is fantastic as you don't have to stray far to get a decent meal and drinks after a long day. I stayed in the adjoining part of the hotel, and the room was very nicely laid out an quiet. I was a little chilly, and the heater was fast to warn the room up and keep it at a steady temerature all night without keeping me awake. A GREAt place to stay if you are visiting Cold Lake, and close to a lot of amenities.
very comfortable beds, impressed with the sawmill being right there, that was so convenient. Didn't get to have breakfast though. I definitely would stay again except I would bring a fan because I need white noise to sleep and the fan on the air conditioner wasn't loud enough .
this hotel is one of the reasons we keep coming back to cold lake. staff are very warm, friendly and helpful. we love the breakfast there and the easy access to the town and the lake. the pool and the fitness centre are very good.
Well the visit started well the check in girl was polite positive and welcoming. We got the key and headed to the room get to the door and bam it doesn't work went down to reception and she fixed the problem straight away will done Adriana. After getting changed headed to the sawmill restaurant and o yes the Beef was perfect the taste was so good in all a great dining experience. Slept well got up headed down for the breakfast looked good on staying to eat it it was just nearly warm but in the plus side it still tasted good hence the 4 instead of the 5.
