Loved this hotel! Our room was perfect and the staff was great! An excellent value, would definitely stay here again. And you can't beat the location -- close to all the Brandywine sites. Also, enjoyed our dinner at the Mendenhall Inn Restaurant.

We stayed at the Inn at Mendenhall on September 13th while in the area for a family birthday party. Our daughter is having her wedding at Mendenhall in 2027 and we wanted a "trial run" at their restaurant and hotel stay. We were overjoyed with the experience! The hotel is extremely clean and our room was very comfortable, quiet and well appointed. We went to the bar for a drink and enjoyed the conversation with the friendly bartender. We stayed for dinner and the food was excellent and the waiter was top notch! The real pleasant surprise came the next morning when we went for our complimentary breakfast. They not only had the normal bread/pastries/cereal set up, but also had waffle stations, a fresh yogurt dispenser, chaffing dishes of hot eggs, potatoes and meat, and a custom made-to-order omelet station. The fantastic array of breakfast choices was only enhanced by the use of real silverware/dishes/glasses at the tables instead of the usual disposable plates and plasticware. The entire staff, from the front desk to the bartender, waiters and breakfast staff were friendly, helpful and very professional. All of these touches added up to a fantastic experience all around!!

Stayed in both 102 and 103. The shower head was horrible and the drain in the tub was horrible too. When taking a shower, the shower head spray was too wide and not concentrated. Felt like it take forever to clean up the soap. Then the drain was so slow the water accrued to the ankle. The toilet in room 103 had sporadic problems with the water tank so it didn't flush all the time. Flapper need to be changed. If at all possible don't stay in the basement rooms.

This hotel is not fully updated. We got stuck with one of the bungalow rooms that is equipped for handicapped guests. We booked a regular bedroom on booking.com and switched nights. They switched our room type and didn't tell us. When we arrived we were greeted with "I guess you want to check in." What happened to "Welcome to ..."? The paint on the outside room door was peeling, the rug was fraying, the wood underneath the mini fridge was chopped up and the bathroom had peeling wallpaper and a number of screw holes in the wall that weren't even patched after removing something hung there. Management wad made aware of this and did give us a price adjustment and said they need to look into how routine maintenance has been skipped. How odd and hard to believe. Front desk staff does not seem to be trained in hospitality. When I pointed out the driveway littered with corks during the breakfast hour, the front desk clerk said that maintenance was going to clean it up. Nonplussed. There was a wedding there last night and I guess they got the renovated rooms. Room cleaning and replenishing of towels and water, coffee items is optional and available only by request. I asked for water on day 2 and they said there was no more but I could take it from the snack room, which was almost bare and had no bottled water. We have more on order was the response. What a huge disappointment. The only people who seemed to care about guests' needs were the women hustling in the breakfast room. I would not recommend it and would not return.

The positive reviews about the good breakfast (omelettes made to order) and the convenient yet quiet location did not disappoint. The staff in the breakfast room was very attentive. Unfortunately, our standard room with two double beds was fine until we encountered ants the next morning so we asked for a different room. In the second room, the furniture was badly scratched up & in need of updating. Also one of the pillow cases was so worn out it had multiple tears & pilling. On the day we checked out, we saw numerous rooms undergoing work so hopefully once the hotel completes the renovations it will be up to standards & appropriate for paying guests.

We returned to our home town for a family event and needed a room for the night. Mendenhall Inn was a favorite dinner spot and we decided it would be fun to stay there. We arrived a little early and were told the room wasn't ready. As we waited, a steady stream of people arrived and received their rooms without waiting. Our event was at 6 and we needed to shower and change. The desk agent said YOUR room isn't ready when we asked why we had to wait longer. We finally received our keys and when my husband went to set up his cpap the outlet didn't work so we had switch everything around to use an outlet that worked. There was no towel bar in the bathroom so we had to hang our towels over the curtain rod. There were ants on the desk and on the coffee stand in the breakfast room. I am retired from a major airline and have stayed in hotels all over the world. This experience was very disappointing.

Room was great, clean and well-appointed. Breakfast good and staff friendly and accommodating. Restaurant is a ‘meh', asked for the Ribeye, waitress said ‘sold out', ordered the NY strip.. subpar. Waitress mentioned a choice of two vegetables, green beans or asparagus. Chose the spears, $4.00 up charge. This was not mentioned, would still have selected the item, but thought she should have mentioned. The hotel was nice, go somewhere else for dinner.

Last friday, we booked this place with Capital One points — it had great reviews and was a 4-star hotel, so we really didn't expect anything like this. They put us in a room that was literally below ground — like, you had to walk DOWN from the lobby to get there. There was a garden right outside, but we were basically underground. Super weird setup for a hotel. We went to the front desk to ask about switching rooms and the staff wasn't exactly warm or helpful about it. Ended up just leaving that night and booking somewhere else — there was no way we were sleeping there. And to top it off, they refused to give us a refund. Wouldn't recommend.

We stayed one night at the Inn at Mendenhall with friends. We planned an overnight stay to tour the Brandywine Valley including Winterthur, the Brandywine Museum and local wineries. Location couldn't be better, 10 minutes from Winterthur and 7 from the museum. Our room was great, quiet, bed comfortable, bathroom good. Our friends though had a room down the hall and near the service area, which they said was noisy. We ate at the restaurant/tavern. Food was good and because we were early, they gave us the tavern price for Happy Hour. Also had the Bananas Foster for dessert, which they prepare at the table. Quite the Show! As others have mentioned, you get china plates and real silverware for breakfast. A hostess actually seats you. Breakfast was good, lots of variety. I read some of the other reviews and we had no issues with our stay.

Arrived a little early and the front desk clerk said room wasn't ready. Seem unconcerned and disinterested. Had no idea when room would be ready. Others showed up and complained loudly after hearing same story. Had already been turned away before. After loud complaining were offered alternate rooms. Very disappointing.

Front Desk Women was short and rude (Dolce) from the moment we walked in. Told us where breakfast was but not the time and asked staff at some point and they got rude about wasn't it on the piece of paper we gave you, rather then answer my simple question politely, was met with an attitude. When I went to find a manager morning of June 5, 2026, Dottie (sales manager) immediately touched my service dog and informed me that my dog was not allowed near food and that I needed to leave my dog outside the breakfast area. Dottie then looks at me and suggests we sit in a back room away from other hotel guests so other guests are more comfortablem The hotel staff chose to segregate multiple times, unwilling to admit any wrong doing. I informed Dottie she was discriminating by not allowing us into the breakfast area. I then informed Dottie service animals are allowed anywhere the public is allowed. Then Dottie touches my dog's face again. I tell Dottie he is a working dog and don't just reach for a service dog and always ask the handler if one can interact. She seemed bothered that I advocated for myself. It's was even more upsetting as my dog was clearly marked as a service dogm The staff, including management needs to be educated on being more kind and considerate considering that we were paying guests. I'm aware there is a lot of money in this county and most people who stay here are in the higher income bracket however what I've experienced, with not just staff but corporate, that we are replaceable and that we did not matter. The folks in our party where disabled and eldery and considing the reviews, have left a lot to be desired and we wished for more. A little consideration and compassion goes along way. The handicap accessible room, shower was great, however the toilet was another story. The room should have never been rented. When we sat on the toilet, it made a loud crashing noise and moved. Rather dangerous in my opinion. We brought eggs back to the room one morning and had finished the bowl. We left it on the tv stand and within 30 minutes out of nowhere, there were ants crawling all over the bowl. We could not figure out where they came from. When I brought this to the manager of the hotel, he told me, we spray weekly. Clearly spraying is not enough. I tried again to bring a solution and he just seemed irritated by my advice and feedback. This hotel smells like a giant wet paint stick and is nauseating. Considering this is a 3 star hotel, I would say go elsewhere, with several options in the area. They wanted to do nothing to fix the issues or were unwilling to give a discount for the multiple issues. We brought these concerns to the manager and it was if it went in one ear and out the other. I recommend you do not waste your time or money at this hotel. They will discriminate against the disabled every chance they get and management refuses to even provide a satisfactory solution. All feedback went in the ear of staff and out the other. When I escalated to corporate it was even more of a joke and had absolutely no desire to fix things or make what we faced right. Choose another lodging location, as there are several in the area, don't waste your time or money. This establishment choose to openly discriminate and if anyone in your family is disabled, handicap, or any other that is not able bodied, go elsewhere, it's not worth the headache.

In general, our experience was disappointing. The Inn has had no visible maintenance beyond the most cursory/cosmetic for a number of years. A few examples: the bathroom was equipped with a chipped tub which had no non-slip surfacing and only one grab bar at the opposite end from the shower (scary!); the bathroom door scraped along the edge of the toilet when closing resulting in scrapes on the toilet and the door; hallways and room exterior doors were chipped and in need of painting; there were ants in both our room and in the breakfast area. Additionally disappointing was although we booked to stay four nights, the bath room was supplied with only two bath towels and enough shampoo/conditioner/bar soap for one/at best two nights; no hair dryer; no hand lotion; no pen or note pad in the room; we were told to ask at the front desk if we needed anything; in general, housekeeping was available not on any schedule but by request only; when we requested it, none was received until we happened to run into a housekeeper in the hall and ask for help. In general, the Inn seemed understaffed, although staff when present was trying. Frequently there was no one at the front desk. Twice we heard other guests complaining to staff in the restaurant and at the hotel front desk.

The Inn At Mendenhall hotel and event complex goes back to the 1800's, but it's a fully updated hotel: attractive, comfortable, quiet and clean. It's just outside the heart of Chadds Ford. The rooms are large and well-appointed. Breakfast buffets are included in the (very reasonable) room rates, and they're excellent, with attentive service from delightful and very friendly predominantly Latina staff. People at the front desk are likewise friendly and helpful. The stay made a convenient base for a delightful 4-night visit to sites, activities, and restaurants throughout the Chadds Ford area. Would definitely return!

Very clean and comfortable hotel. Room was spotless as was every area we experienced. The furniture in our room appeared new and bed was comfortable. Very quiet the night we stayed. Included breakfast was very good and was served on china rather than the paper and plastic ware at many hotels. Lobby was very nice and outdoor patio was nice as well. We really would have no recommendations for improvement.

The Inn at Mendenhall is a luxurious hotel for a reasonable price, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Rt. 1. The room was spotless, beds were comfortable. The free breakfast was above average. We had only booked one night but stayed for a second.

I had read differing reviews of this hotel, so I was not sure what to expect. When my husband and I arrived, we were struck by how quiet the area surrounding the hotel was. It is actually located in a nice residential area. The hotel lobby was decorated nicely and very clean. Check in was easy and our king room was clean, comfortable, and spacious. The bed was comfortable and the shower in the morning had nice water pressure. Breakfast was hot and good - typical hotel fare, but with an abundance of seating and a slight feeling of “upscale.” Being members at Longwood Gardens, but living several hours away, we will definitely be back again.

We were unable to go the hotel due to 6-10 inches of snow expected, but my review is to warn others about their penalty policy. We made the reservation for two rooms on Thursday evening for a conference in the area. The next day, we received an email that the conference was being rescheduled to the end of March due to the winter weather expected. We called the hotel (the next day!) and they said they could not help us and that we needed to call Expedia. We were finally able to get someone on the phone with Expedia and they called the hotel to see if they would provide a waiver so that we could get a refund. The hotel had told me that they got no money and all the money went to Expedia if we did not show for the stay. Expedia said the hotel allow a refund of one room but would charge 100% for the other room per their penalty policy. We called the very next day after making the reservation AND their is now a heavy snowstorm expected in the area, so we can't make it anyway! They are basically taking our money knowing that nobody could come anyway! We will not make our reservation here again for the rescheduled conference! It is ridiculous and sad when they don't consider your situation and just quote a policy that makes no sense in this context. Just beware...

We chose Mendenhall blind, and couldn't be happier. The establishment, Staff, food, everything was woderfull We wil be back in the future.

If you don't know what you are doing in your own kitchen, you will certainly love this restaurant! Food was overly salted ( think the Mayflower cargo ), overly seasoned ( masking ) and overly cooked ( steak like your leather shoe sole, maybe a 7 year old steer from the neighborhood ) Signature turtle soup was pathetic, no turtle taste. Salad was great because they did not have to cook it. Minimal staff running around clearly overburdened with tasks to the point of cruelty ( keystone cops ). No attention to or knowledge of food allergies ( menu not marked ). Even when asked " gluten free ? " do not trust.... it may still contain gluten, wife became very ill. It is a shame because this restaurant really can be so much better. Wish I could spend a week teaching them.

This was our second trip. Both times it was a great experience. We stayed here because it was close to the long wood gardens which we visited. The Christmas decorations and property was amazing. If you go next year check with the hotel for their prices fixe menus that includes admission into longwood gardens.

Very convenient hotel location with nice size rooms and bathrooms. I really enjoyed the china, cloth napkins and silverware for breakfast buffet. Good variety of breakfast options - scrambled eggs, sausage patty, bacon, bagels and toast options, two types of Belgian waffles, and a very nice assortment of cut fresh fruit as well as whole fruit and packaged danishes. Coffee options included regular decaf, with a machine that also dispensed a very sweet cappuccino, hot chocolate, and latte. Cereal, danishes, yogurt, and a variety of different milks were also available. Although there was a nice topper on the mattress, it was a little firm for me, and scrambled eggs while plentiful were just OK. Staff were very helpful and accommodating, and the rooms were clean and quiet despite it being Thanksgiving week. While we did not have a chance to dine at the restaurant, I'm told it's very good and I believe they served over 600 Thanksgiving dinners in two ballrooms using their two kitchens.

The room was an undecorated box. Terrible odor. Loud noisy air conditioning. Luckily we could open the window. That was until the wedding party started their party. Complained to management at 11:45 pm. Noise continued until 1:30 am, couldn't sleep through it. Next morning air outside room smelled terribly of sewage. Breakfast bar was overcrowded and totally picked through. Front desk was not helpful and defensive. Wouldn't give anything to make it better, like partial refund. Said they would leave a message for Zach, the manager. He never called and never returned two messages.

When I arrived, there was no luggage rack in the room. Fine enough. I took a shower and the tub filled up with water to my ankles. The drain stopper was down, so it was a clogged drain. As I continued to shower, I noticed POOP on the shower curtain. Not rust. Not dirt. Not a stain. POOP. When I got out of the shower, I tried to call the front desk and my phone was dead. I traveled to the front desk with wet hair in my PJs to report the problems. No compensation offered at the time. I got my folio the next day via email and they took $25 off the room. I don't think that was good enough for 4 items very wrong with the room in the first 15 minutes - especially poop. Would not recommend. I am nauseated thinking about it. The breakfast was good. Would recommend to add hard boiled eggs onto the buffet.

The location is convenient for visiting Longwood Gardens and the Nemour Estate. It is a very lovely area. Our room was mostly well appointed with a small refrigerator and microwave, comfortable bed and comfortable chair. The bathroom had a much appreciated magnifying mirror and powerful blow dryer. We had a quiet stay. The breakfast was a buffet and free but not very good. The eggs might have been powdered but, whether they were or not, they were seasoned and salty. The only yogurt available was sweetened. The only oatmeal was sweetened and instant. Toppings were sweet items like chocolate chips, trail mix with candy, granola. There was some very nice melon but no bananas or berries, nuts or shredded coconut to top yogurt or dry cereal. The toasting machine was difficult to get to the right setting. In both the breakfast room and the hotel room, there was a container marked for “tips.” We always tip, but I've never seen this in a hotel before. The only staff we encountered who was fluent in English was at the front desk.

This was a return trip for us celebrating our wedding anniversary The hotel experienced a loss of power during a severe thunderstorm that came through the area just after check in at 4:00. After speaking with the front desk who could not give any details on when or if power could be restored that evening, I explained that we have a medical device which requires electrical power to function. I explained we would like to cancel our stay, seek accommodations elsewhere and get a refund or a stay credit. I was told since we paid in advance through a third party website the refund would need to go through the third party. To date and almost 4 weeks later the third party website has made attempts to verify our situation with hotel management to no avail. Very disappointing. The hotel is very conveniently located to Longwood Gardens and many other points of interest. Would really like to recommend The Inn at Medenhall to others but this level of customer service is unacceptable.

First, the location was great for going to Longwood Gardens. The place was very quiet (weekday visit) and the Inn is not on a busy road. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. Breakfast was a notch above the usual chain hotels- real bacon! We really liked the hotel- clean , comfortable - we will return ! Highly recommend The Naked Olive to eat nearby.

We stayed here 2 years ago. It's a decent hotel at a decent price. The staff is very good, particularly Sandy. Our safe was locked, but no one ever came up to unlock it so that we could use it. The linens are clean, but frayed. Breakfast is mediocre. There aren't at lot of options in Chadds Ford so I imagine we will stay here, again, in the future. Great central location.

Quite nice. Hotel is in the midst of renovations but, honestly, I thought it was fine just the way it is. Good selections at breakfast. Staff was helpful and pleasant. Would highly recommend this hotel while visiting the beautiful Brandywine Valley area.

Clean rooms and facility. Nice complementary breakfast. Upgraded linens. Friendly staff. The only drawback is the walks are very thin. You can easily hear full conversations of next door neighbors. The onsite restaurant and pub had good drinks and food.

Best value in the area. Nice people. The location is very convenient for Longwood Gardens. Close to good restaurants. Quiet location. Quiet rooms. Free parking. Fire pit is nice. The restaurant is good. The breakfast buffet could be better.

The Pillows are too flat. The cocktail Drinks are expensive and mediocre. Breakfast is good with healthy options. Restaurant food and waiters are wonderful. The hotel and rooms are Clean. Hotel has really nice amenities. Atmosphere is great. Overall, fabulous place to stay.

I was not acknowledged as a platinum BW member and had to ask for late check out which was granted and then not put on my account so my keycard stopped working while I was trying to get car and load luggage. Requested a room NOT on ground level and was given a room on the 2nd floor, however, due to the hilly terrain behind the hotel, the 2nd floor room was actually ground level. Had to move rooms to a DOUBLE b/c no more kings available. Also requested room in quieter area and was given one 3 doors away from the elevator. I had to ask twice for a do not disturb sign and a luggage rack. Housekeeping ignores the do not disturb sign and knocks on the door at 930 on the day of check out. Housekeeping also BLASTS music while cleaning rooms and leaves the giant cart with dirty laundry right outside other doors instead of the room they are cleaning. Several towels had multiple stains on them (washed, but stains remained). Also the sink filled up and would go down extremely slowly and the safe didn't work. Both were fixed after I let the front desk know.

We met two other couples at the Inn at Mendenhall. We all had a wonderful time. Our rooms were excellent and ready when we arrived. The restaurant was perfect for our first evening. The staff was attentive and cooperative through two problems of our own making. We had to reduce the reservation from three nights to two and missed the deadline with the online booking service. The Inn's staff worked with the service to recover the last night. I also checked out without taking my health kit. When I realized it, the staff had already put it aside and arranged to have it shipped back.

The Inn at Mendenhall was a nice, clean hotel. The best part was its location - not located in a shopping place, instead in a non-heavy traffic area. Its location was great - an easy, 10-minute drive to Longwood Gardens and 20 minutes to Hagley Mills and Nemours Estate.

One of the top places I have ever enjoyed. Great place, beautiful atmosphere, an excellent service. I will definitely recommend this place to all my family and friends as a weekend getaway or a place for a family to get together for event or leisure.

Would highly recommend this lovely hotel which also offers a bar with live music and a restaurant. we had dinner in the bar, which was absolutely delicious and the music was very enjoyable. The free breakfast had more options than typically available.All staff were very pleasant and helpful. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable.

Really like this place so this was a repeat visit. Right off Kennett Pike near Delaware/Pennsylvania border in Brandywine Valley. Front desk staff great. Rooms are clean and spacious. Nice fitness room. I just wish they had recycling for plastic etc.

Front desk has the rudest people I have ever encountered. I booked this room in April as we knew we would be going to the event at Longwood Gardens, I called a week prior and inquired about early check in, was told this shouldn't be a problem. Arrived at 12.45, was told room wasn't ready yet, early check in is not guaranteed and it would be ready at 2pm. All that's fine, but the front desk person was extremely dismissive and just rude with her tone. Room being ready, wasn't a big deal, we were going to get something to eat anyway. Came back at 3.30 - Room still wasn't ready, a different person attempted to check us in, and asked if we needed a handicap room, I said no, not at all. The other girl yells well that's what your 3rd party booked. The nice person says, let me see if I can find a different room. The 1st person, the rude one, yells, NO you can't change them, she booked a handicap. I booked through Chase Travel, and my confirmation does not state handicap, I called Chase Travel and they stated, no I did not book a handicap room. So I believe this front desk person got snippy when I showed up at 12.45 and did this out of spite. I'm not sure why she is put in that position, she obviously should not be guest facing. You can clearly see she is not a happy person, and does not believe in customer service. The hotel was pretty empty, so it's not like they didn't have the rooms. They even had rooms available on the website. Now to the room, could not sleep, we were right next to a construction area, and there was something mechanical turning on and running every 10-15 minutes, it was incredibly loud, and made a loud noise when turning on and turning off. So Basically, this hotel, ruined what should have been a nice overnight getaway.

My husband and I went to the Brandywine Valley to sight see for our anniversary. We usually stay in a Marriott when traveling, but wanted something different for our anniversary. It exceeded our expectations! Room was as pictured on the website. It was clean, had a comfortable bed and pillows, and a great list of tv channels including HBO. The bathroom had great lighting/mirror for putting on makeup. There was a lighted makeup mirror as well though it was not working. We had a lovely dinner in their on-site restaurant. We would absolutely stay there again, expecting all to be the same as this stay. Our only 2 critiques would be to check the wallpaper in the room. Glue back some loose edges to really make it “perfect” and provide a pen and pad. We wanted to write some things down. We are old school. We don't take notes on our iPhone.

Welcoming staff, spotless room, very comfortable, excellent breakfast buffet. Very good value. There was a fire pit outside to enjoy and a restaurant on site. The restaurant was amazing - well beyond our expectations. The windows open if you like fresh air.

Inn at Mendenhall - great value price, clean & quiet, close to home About 6 years ago, we did an anniversary stay here and the Presidential suite was a nice splurge despite the construction renovation ongoing at the time. This time we just reserved a double standard room on the top floor and were pleased with the accommodation, especially the cleanliness and quiet it afforded. It also was a value priced stay and included a breakfast buffet. On our anniversary we did fine dining at the hotel, but a nice casual alternative embraced this time was dinner at Buckleys Tavern about 4 miles east on Rt 52. Finally we love that the Inn at Mendenhall is so close to our favorite resale shop ENCORE SHOP at Routes 1 & 52.

We had a very enjoyable stay! We want to especially thank Dulce for going above and beyond to help us feel comfortable. When we checked in (after 8 p.m.) our room was chilly. She tried to help us remedy the situation but once it became obvious that the heat wasn't working, she quickly arranged for us to move to a comparable room, which was right across the hall. The hotel was especially clean and the breakfast provided many options. The setting is beautiful and logistics were quite simple to navigate. We stayed here because it was close to home when our electricity went out during a storm. We will definitely be back if we find ourselves without power again!

Good choice. There are many hotels to choose from near Longwood Gardens. We've stayed in others but this was the best. It was reasonably priced. The accommodations were very nice. The rooms were spacious and very clean. We had 4 rooms. Besides the microwave and coffee maker there was a larger refrigerator than the little box ones. It didn't have a freezer section though to put our ice pack. The bathroom was tiled and had good water pressure. The positioning of the toilet paper was awkward to reach. Moving it under the counter would be helpful. We did have drinks at the bar which were good. Only criticism was the number of things out of order. The coffee maker in the lobby, the cappuccino maker and yogurt maker at breakfast. The help was very attentive during breakfast. It would be nice to have hot water available in the lobby for tea. We would definitely return

We stayed at the Mendenhall Inn for one night in December for a family event in the area. The location was perfect, the hotel well appointed and a substantial breakfast was included. What could then leave such a negative impression for our stay? We arrived at 2:00 and were told that our room was ready – BUT – since check in was at 3:00 it would cost us an additional $20 to get into the room early. Our room was clean and ready. We hadn't asked for early check in but it was sitting there ready. But to get in it would cost us $20 more dollars because it wasn't 3:00. We have NEVER had this situation happen before. We were incredulous! The girl who was checking in had no response probably having had to deal with this often. It was either pay the money or change for our event in a bathroom or our car. It wasn't the $20. I'm fortunate to say that wasn't going to break us but that the room was sitting there ready, due to no request for early check in from us, but we still had to pay to get in. This is a horrible policy and is truly beneath a quality of hotel that Mendenhall proclaims to be.

The Inn is actually a hotel, with little to make it feel like an actual Inn, which is what I was hoping for. That said, the room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The front desk staff on arrival was inattentive (younger folks cannot stay off their phones even when working.) But the staff in the restaurant was great.

First of all, I'm not someone that gives bad reviews, but in this case, I felt it appropriate. Simply put, this is more of a hotel for groups as the hotel frequently serves as a wedding venue. Therefore, it's not an ideal place for couples or solo travelers seeking a quiet stay, particularly when the hotel is hosting a large group or a wedding. Unfortunately, even asking at check-in if a wedding was being conducted, I was told "oh, it's just a few people". This was clearly not the case as we would later discover. During our stay, we had numerous noisy wedding guests congregating in the hall outside our room from 11pm until 4am. And although I reported this to the front desk twice during the night, my calls yielded no resolution. More concerning is the hotel doesn't appear to have any security staff to monitor or control disruptive guests, particularly those resulting from weddings or similar group events. So, unless you enjoy paying for a room offering a level of noise that prevents you from sleeping, you may be better served by considering one of the area's B&Bs or other hotels.

The place was wonderful but what put it over the top were Sandy and Tina… staffing the front desk… full of enthusiasm, smiles and super helpful and accommodating. They brought a life and energy to our stay. Mom is 86 and they immediately offered a wheel chair when we arrived. Rooms were wonderful and the restaurant featured great service and food as well .

We had checked into a Marriott property down the road. The room had a bad smell and someone was using a hammer drill in the room next door. I found the Inn at Mendenhall online and called. Tina was super! She was able to find us a room and ran around to have house keeping revisit the room to ensure everything was up to their standards, it was. She was very friendly and accommodating. After our previous experience down the road my wife smactually said that Tina restored her faith in humanity! Anyway, the room was super clean, well appointed, and very comfortable. Breakfast was superb. The property is beautiful. We can't wait to make it back up there. Please thank Tina for us.

Only stayed for 1 night a week ago while visiting Longwood Gardens. Nice Hotel. Only about 5-7 minutes from the gardens. Room was very nice. The air was not working, so they promptly moved us to another king room across the hall. Normal amenities....microwave, fridge. Restaurant was closed when we were there, so can't give my opinion on that. There is a free buffet breakfast, but we did not make it in time, so can't comment on that either. Very friendly staff. Lots of wineries around....wineries were a bit more than we are used to, but that is to be expected being right outside of Philadelphia. Went to Kennet Square , which was about a 10 minute drive ..no big deal there. Mostly restaurants. We were not to fond of the whole area, as there was not alot to do. My husband did find a casino in Deleware (Casino at Deleware Park). It was about a 25 minute drive, so we decided to go there for something to do. I guess the area is just not for everybody.

This hotel was even better than we remember from our stay years ago. It is very clean and the kitchen and housekeeping staff are very helpful, accommodating and friendly. It's also a convenient place to stay for touring the Chadds Ford area. Our only complaint is about two of the female staff at the reception desk the first two days. One never acknowledged our presence and the second one was very snarky, unfriendly and talked to me like I was a complete imbecile. Both women were on their cell phones the whole time as well. We didn't let it bother us because we were prepared after reading other reviews complaining about them as well, but the first line of staff should behave much better than this because not everyone will be as nice as we were despite their behavior. Everett at the front desk on the last two days of our stay was very professional, friendly, funny and personable. He is the reason I didn't give four stars.

The refrigerator in the room was making a loud and very annoying noise all night until I fished around behind the cabinet and unplugged it. The room did not have any kind of room darkening shades. The thin white translucent shade let all the outside light in from the parking lot and the patio, making it too bright to sleep there. Being able to sleep in a hotel is the most important factor, and if you can't sleep, whatever emenities there are, are irrelevant.

My family and I were pleasantly surprised at how nice this place is! I'm used to staying in known name-brand hotels like Hilton, Marriott, Holiday Inn, etc. The customer service and the way the rooms were beats most of these chains. The room was clean, smelled clean, and had everything we needed. I will say the double "Queen" beds seemed more like Full size, but it did not make or break my stay. The front attendant, an older gentleman with gray hair, was absolutely wonderful from beginning to end. I wish I could remember his name. He empathized on our not-so-great car ride and gave us a great parking spot since we were leaving early in the morning around 7. I'll add, we arrived at midnight. He was so gracious and kind, and let us know to inform him if it became loud in our room since there was a wedding party. We never heard any noise. He even checked on us when we were having breakfast. We were there only 1 night for a tournament and my daughter was competing. When we left he wished us luck. I highly recommend this place, and would stay again! Maybe one day they'll add a pool. :)

I stayed here for two nights for a wedding that was happening at a different location. The rooms at The Mendenhall Inn were a little outdated. They were spacious which was nice but the one we were in, room 131, had a lot of issues. There was definitely a water issue from the roof (the room is on the top floor) because there was water damage in the bathroom and above the door of the room itself. Paint was peeling and there was blue paint on the back of the door, it looked like the door was peeling. I also asked the front desk twice for a toilet seat lid. Ours didn't have a lid, which was weird. I was told that maintenance knew and was going to take care of it, and during the two nights we were there, we never received a lid for the toilet. The elevator inspection was also expired. A photo is below. The elevator was creepy and very slow, the stairs were a faster option. The gym was extremely outdated and was like a sauna. The breakfast was great though, it had a nice assortment and the employees were working hard to make sure everything was always filled. There is a nice outdoor space with a propane fireplace for people to sit around. Overall the hotel was just okay. Nothing special and everything seems very old and stuffy.

HORRIBLE experience. Saying Tina at the front desk is rude would be an understatement... When I called to book she immediately said we are too busy & will call me back later.. never heard from her. I tried asking about early check in since regular is 4pm and the wedding I was going to starts same time.. she proceeds to call me ignorant, says I don't understand policy, & HANGS UP on a customer. I will never stay here ever again & you shouldn't either!!!

Its location is midway between Longwood Gardens and Winterthur museum, garden & Library. We stayed one night after spending the day at Longwood Gardens and visited Winterthur the next day. After half an hour checking into the room, the bathroom floor was flooded and we had to switch room. That was extremely inconvenient. We saw two stink bugs in the room during our stay which was little unpleasant. Other than that, the room was generally clean. Breakfast was OK. Nice and helpful staff at front desk and breakfast room.

Sandy at the front desk has gone above and beyond for us from the start. We booked the room back in the fall 2022 for a wedding in December 2022, but needed to be able to check in at 6am rather than 3pm so we could sleep right away following a red eye flight. Sandy stayed on top of communicating with the manager and calling us to let us know if this meant we needed to book the room for an extra day or not, and he stayed on top of writing notes so our room wouldn't be given away if the flight was delayed, etc. Sandy is a keeper!

We loved staying here. Quaint little hotel in an adorable area of town. Highly recommend for a couples trip! Great local restaurants very close as well. We highly enjoyed the live music in the hotel restaurant/bar area. Staff was friendly!

Hotel and staff are very nice. Room was clean and comfortable. Despite the busier road the room was quiet. Decent value and location. Tavern 52 is a short walk next to the hotel, and Longwood Gardens is nearby.

Very nice hotel. Clean, comfortable, quiet. Outstanding breakfast. Unloading and parking leaves a very unpleasant taste. It was pouring rain and there is little to no cover for unloading and loading. Parking is in the back and not close to the door. Prepare for a good soaking. The lady at the desk was unfriendly and not helpful. She seemed bored as she chewed her gum. The man in the morning was much nicer.

Very comfortable hotel which was perfect place to rest after day of hiking around Longwood Gardens. Hotel staff were very friendly. Room was quiet and bed was very comfortable. We dined at on premises restaurant. Found it to be pleasant surprise with inviting menu. Located nearby Longwood this hotel was perfect for us. Room 219 does need fridge looked at as it was little noisy. But small quibble compared to great stay .

Decided at the last minute needed a getaway after thanksgiving, booked the longwood garden package 3 days before. Have stayed at Montchanin years ago but the price point was a bit steep right now. Saw this place offered 2 tix breakfast and minutes away from longwood, reviews were good and seemed like a good option. It was great! Minutes from LG and picked up tix and rolled right over! Tickets included were great because otherwise that day was sold out! Tickets included in package allowed us to walk in and through the entrance in minutes. Hotel and room were clean easy to navigate and breakfast was hot and fresh, similar to other comp breakfast but it was very well done. If visiting LG stay here.

This is our second stay at the Inn at Mendenhall. In the past we have stayed at both the Hotel DuPont and the Inn at Montchanin. The Inn at Mendenhall is fantastic! We love it. The rooms are so clean and well appointed. The staff is wonderful. The fitness room is spotless. The restaurant on premises, the Mendenhall Inn is wonderful. On top of that the prices are extremely reasonable. We can't wait to return!

Quiet room, even when they held two large weddings on the premises. Comfortable room. Great shower. Good bed. If you're also a hot sleeper, the mattress might leave you feeling a bit over-heated in the middle of the night. Good breakfast. Great property, nice to walk around while having a smoke. Plenty of parking. Great restaurant for dinner. Convenient to Chaddsford, Longwood, Kennett Square, and northern Delaware. Plenty to do and other good restaurants just a short drive away.

Wonderful hotel near Longwood Gardens. Breakfast was very good . Staff was very friendly. They have a lovely room upstairs where we could get together. The fire pit outside is welcoming. Rooms were well appointed, and had a Keurig in them. Lovely stay

Cozy and nicely decorated, friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was included, cereal, eggs, bacon, sausage and waffles,. Room was clean and quiet, very comfortable beds. We were in the main building which was conveniently located across from the restaurant.. We went to the restaurant for happy hour where we had a wedge salad and calamari appetizer. Wonderful restaurant. One fire pit outside the entrance and one outside the restaurant. So enjoyed the Fall leaves. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Located down the street( but in another state, PA) from Winterthur and the Delaware Museum of Nature and Science and a short distance from The Hagley Museum. Amazing trip -this was my ideal hotel stay.

I could hear EVERYTHING in the room next to us, all conversations, any movement, when they blew their nose, I could even hear when they used the bathroom and how long they peed for. I've never experienced this with any other hotels that we've stayed in. It made me very uncomfortable because if I could hear everything in the room next to us then that meant that they could hear any sound that I made. The hotel should definitely invest in insulating the walls better.

Loved this hotel. Very clean, front desk staff is wonderful. Breakfast area is very well kept and clean. Our room was a nice size with a very comfortable bed and pillows. It is very close to Longwood Gardens. We did not hear any noise in the hallways. A great stay and we will stay here again

This property is a rock solid 5 stars. The room was awesome, the grounds incredible, but what sets this property apart is the staff. The front desk, the wedding personnel, the cleaning staff, everyone with which I came into contact is what gives this property 5 stars+. Set in a small village, the ambiance of this hotel oozes charm. The room was spotless, as was the entire hotel. I could go on and on, but you get the idea. Use this property for a wedding (we attended one). Use it for a getaway. Use it anyway you'd like, but if in the area, don't miss the opportunity to spend time here.

We stayed here recently when we visited Longwood Gardens. We were super-pleased with this inn. Beginning with the front desk staff to the breakfast servers (Rita was extra helpful) and including any staff we passed in the halls- all were pleasant and truly went the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable. Someone does a GREAT hiring job! Our room and bathroom were clean and attractive. Bed was comfortable. Water pressure in shower was great. The buffet breakfast was much better than we've had in a while at any hotel. Good selection of hot and cold items to choose from. Location is quiet, but it's popular with wedding guests on weekends, so it can get busy that way, but it did not detract from our stay at all. The only small problem we had during our stay was cell phone reception in the hotel, and this is a challenge in this entire area. This would not stop us from staying here again. Great to experience such a well-run hotel.

Pleasant stay, great location away from main road yet very close to both Longwood and Winterthur, free mostly okay breakfast (skip the fake eggs). Comfortable bed but possibly the worst pillows I've ever encountered: short and lumpy. As advertised, it's a place where weddings and groups stay so it can get a bit noisy in the evening when they gather in community rooms. Great to have the elevators!

The hotel is nicely located right in the midst of some wonderful sites--Winterhur, Longwood, Nemours and Hagley. It is comfortable if slightly worn. Staff was nice and when open (Thurs-Sunday) for my stay, the restaurant is great. I felt it was a good value.

I'm really to have found this well located, hidden gem in the Brandywine Valley. The property is well kept and safe and the staff, cordial and professional (including breakfast room). The room was clean and appeared recently upgraded with marble. My favorite things: mini-fridge, ample plug ins, black out curtains and a nice showerhead with strong water pressure, were all there. Only downside (room 204) was an air handler that rattled when turning off & off with the thermostat and a digital clock improperly set. Other than that, I will be back.

Mendenhall Inn was very convenient to everything we wanted to visit in the Brandywine Valley. Our room was very nice, comfortable and clean. Our stay during the week was outstanding. Breakfast was good, hostess was outstanding. I would not recommend staying over the weekend as the rate increased for the worst part of our stay. Rather ironic. I would stay there again but plan our trip to avoid the noise and crowd and higher rate.

This place is first class. The staff are very professional. The food is excellent! The location is beautiful. We had the champagne brunch, it was great. I recommend this place to everyone visiting from out of town, you have to make a trip here.

We chose the Inn because of its proximity to Longwood Gardens, and were not disappointed. The drive was less than 4 minutes. Even though we arrived late at night (after 11:00), we were greeted warmly and check-in took about a minute. Our room was ample and all amenities were in place. The room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable.

Fabulous! Lovely lobby, great room, wonderful staff! We were so blessed that when we stayed (midweek), it was wonderfully quiet! We were very satisfied with our room. Very very clean! Beds were very comfortable! (We both have back issues.) Shower head was great! Complimentary water and coffee in the lobby and in the rooms! Plenty of places to sit outside. A common area available inside on the second floor to sit and read or watch TV. The breakfast was amazing! I think I read online that it was a continental breakfast. It was way more than that. (2 types of eggs, sausage, hash browns, fresh and cut up fruit, make it yourself waffles, yogurt, bagels, cereals, coffee, capuccino, juice, water, tea) Another amazing touch was that they have real plate to use, not a plastic or paper plate and real utensils, not plastic forks and knives. There were two breakfast rooms to sit in and places to sit outside. The staff is attentive and kind! Wouldn't hesitate to come back for another getaway. Highly recommended!

We had a great stay. Overall, hotel is clean. When it comes to travel, I prefer to avoid pet friendly hotels - this property meets that requirement. The hotel is very near to local attractions. Nice staff.

Tina was very helpful in selecting a reasonably priced accessible room for us that with large bathroom and grab bars. Unfortunately it didn't have a walk-in shower, only a bathtub, which was a hassle for me to get in and out of, even with the grab bars. And why in a tub used by people like me with mobility issues did the tub not have a no-slip bottom? (Need a designer who has disabilities to check out the design features first!) Odd that there were no towel racks either. Had to settle for 2 double beds; no queens in the accessible rooms unless we wanted to pay a hefty price for an accessible "executive suite."

I visit Longwood Gardens several times a year and always try to stay at the Inn at Mendenhall. It is clean, non smoking and has an excellent breakfast. The staff is friendly and helpful. The proximity to Longwood Gardens is an added feature.

It is Aug 3, 6:37pm. We called to make a reservation for a room. We called three times and let it ring until the phone hung up. At the fourth time, someone at the front desk finally answered. I mentioned that we have called three times and the phone kept ringing and then disconnected me. The respond from the person at the front desk was "we never pick up the phone" and chuckled. If this is the normal customer service that we can expect at Mendenhall Inn, I (and other family members) who had made reservations decided to cancel and go to a nearby hotel instead.

What a wonderful place to stay, it's off the beaten path and yet so close to Longwood Gardens. The staff were really friendly and the room was incredibly clean. The restaurant on property was amazingly delicious. Breakfast in the hotel was very good also.

We stayed here only one night but it was clean and updated and the location was great for visiting Longwood Gardens and Winterthur. We didn't take advantage of it, but they offered a free breakfast. The room was clean and bright and the bathroom was nice and updated. For us, the mattress was too firm, but we find that to be the case in most hotels. Wish there was a way to request some sort of extra mattress topper for those who prefer a softer bed but other than that, this place is simply lovely. If it was offered, even at an extra cost, I'd pay it. My back was killing me after only a few hours and I ended up sleeping in the chair with a footstool but at least that was an option. Also, I'm not sure what it is about today's hotels that they have pillows that are barely filled and are not comfortable. In that regard, this hotel is no different. We brought our own pillows so it really helped. We were glad to find this hotel and would probably return.

The service was excellent with friendly staff. The property is beautifully well lit at night with outside seating to enjoy your cocktail. This place is beautiful, and we will return when in the area. We came for a visit to Longwood Gardens, and were pleased that this hotel was only two miles from there.

Excellent place to stay if you are visiting Longwood Gardens. Clean and comfortable, and in a very quiet and convenient location. It's only about a 6-minute drive (less than 3 miles) from Longwood. Has a nice lounge area on the second floor above the lobby. The breakfast spread is reasonably good. We've stayed here at least three times and have never been disappointed. No complaints.

Room was a bit worn out but very clean. Sheets and towels were fairly new. There was plenty of water pressure in the shower. Everything worked fine and it even has a Keurig in the lobby and in the room. We brought our own favorite pods. Breakfast could have been a lot better. Eggs were watery and seemed like powered eggs. There was no bacon and the hashbrowns were not cooked long enough and were very greasy. All the other foods and drinks were good.

We highly recommend the Inn At Mendenhall. The location is very convenient and the room was very clean and private. There is very nice attention to detail. We enjoyed the breakfast selections and the service was fantastic. There is also a very nice seating area outside.

I picked this hotel at 5 am after a sleepless night at a fancy hotel in Cooperstown. I needed a place for the two nights we weren't going to stay in that place. We were headed to Pennsylvania anyway and decided to go early. The Inn at Mendenhall was our reward. The place was clean and comfortable. The bedding and towels were generous. They had really nice soap. The breakfast is lovely and served with real cutlery and plates. Best of all, the staff were warm, helpful, and courteous. They seemed genuinely glad we were there.

My husband and I stayed here after our visit to Longwood Gardens. The hotel is very clean and welcoming and the front desk staff were very professional. When we got to our room at about 4p, the thermostat was at 76. It was a very warm day (95 degrees). He turned it down and we went to dinner. We got back to the room around 8:30p and it was still 76. He called the front desk. A woman named Tina came up to the room and checked it out. After about a half hour it didn't move; she called back and checked on us. He told her it was the same. She informed us the hotel was full, but she would do her best to get in contact with the maintenance person. About an hour later she came up to the room and told us there was a room down the hall that was booked but the reservation never arrived. She moved us to that room, which was much more comfortable. Her consideration was most appreciated. Most people don't put that much concern into a guest's stay. I would recommend this hotel for a variety of reasons but the consideration was most appreciated.

We decided to stay here on the way to Philadelphia. It was a great choice for many reasons. The hotel is conveniently located to the various Revolutionary War battlefields as well as the Wyeth museum (which we were too late to visit). Our room had an outside door to the parking lot, which was great, and yet still was quiet at night. There was a wedding party at the hotel, but it didn't affect us at all. It seems like a good place to have that type of event. The bar/restaurant looked good, but I had made a dinner reservation at the Gables. The breakfast was the same kind of thing you'd find at a Hilton property. Powdered eggs, sausages, bacon, toast, bagels, cereal, yogurt, fruit, tea, coffee, and bad juice. The only thing I liked was the tea and make your own waffle! I've come to not expect much from these free breakfasts. The room had all the things one needs in a hotel room. Definitely recommend.

The area is lovely . The room was spacious and had a coffee machine , small frig and a microwave . staff was efficient and pleasant . Breakfast was a full hot breakfast and offered eggs sausage , fruit and toast All around satisfactory . Will return again

Very nice 2-night stay at the Inn for a trip to Longwood Gardens. The hotel is near to Chadds Ford and Kennett Square. Lobby, bar, and lounge are nicely appointed. Rooms are immaculate - looks new! The hotel offers tickets to Longwood Gardens - the tickets are flexible so no need to get timed tickets from the gardens themselves. Beware that the double rooms have full-size beds, not queens. Other than that, it was a very pleasant stay.

Spacious room, comfortable bed, nice sized bathroom with plenty of counter space, frig and micro wave --- everything needed for a lovely stay. The inn is off of route 52 -- a much quieter road than route 1, and yet very close to Longwood Gardens.

We spent three nights. Excellent accomodations, nice staff, good breakfast, very good restaurant, close to other good restaurants. Price was reasonable. Sometimes they were short of breakfast items as 9 am approached, so don't wait to 8:45 to eat breakfast. Highly recommended.

We stayed and dined at the Mendenhall Inn. Great food. Outstanding service. Very clean and knowledgeable staff. Morning breakfast buffet had many different selections to pick from, fresh fruit to waffles.

We had a great time staying at Inn at Mendenhall instead of the Fairfield or Hilton Garden next to Longwood... Mendenhall is nice and quiet as this hotel is off the main road. Great breakfast and excellent service all around.

Centrally located to many local sites - within 5 miles of Longwood Gardens and Winterthur, this clean, quiet, comfortable hotel offers a great breakfast, good value, excellent showers, and helpful staff. We would stay here again even though the on-site tavern does not seem to be open daily at the moment.

We had a wonderful experience staying at the Inn! It is a beautiful place and the staff members were very accommodating. The bed was very comfortable. I had a good night sleep. The restaurant/lounge area was very cozy which included a fireplace. Will definitely stay here again!

Stayed here on a visit to Longwood Gardens. Conveniently located to the gardens and easy to find. Nice restaurant and bar attached to the property. The room was clean and attractive. Would stay again.

I have stayed at the Inn at Mendenhall a few times - each time when coming down to the Longwood Gardens. The rooms are clean, everything works. Breakfast is plentiful, though only the fresh fruit (also plentiful, to give them their due) is not very high cal. I plan to stay here again. While I stayed alone this time, I have stayed with my husband, a major breakfast guy, and he very much likes their breakfast spread. They have a little place where you can buy beers and soda, by the can. I love that I can pick up a beer and some crackers if I missed dinner. No price gouging, either. There's also an onsite restaurant - used not just by hotel guests. I haven't eaten there, however,

We booked the lowest rate room and were delighted. Staff were warm and helpful. Bed, amenities like TV, fridge and microwave were all there. Our room was convenient to the elevator. The fitness room was closed temporarily. A lovely surprise was the lobby on our floor with comfortable and elegant seating. Also I wasn't aware that a small but complete breakfast was included. We would definitely stay again.

Quarantine my family had covid so I stayed here and it was a great choice!!!! From the staff to the service to my room. If i needed anything they were there. The staff even checked to see if I was comfortable or if it was to much noise

I stayed at the Mendenhall since my daughter‘s wedding reception was being held in the grand ballroom. Every aspect of my stay in the hotel was wonderful. The room was neat and clean, the amenities were all in working order, and most importantly the staff was exceptional!

Great hotel. Rooms are well designed, well equipped and provide a pleasant ambiance. Well-mannered, efficient staff and nice on-site amenities, including a bar and restaurant. Good Covid practices. Good breakfast compared to other similar settings. Perfectly situated for Longwood Gardens and easy access to Kennett Square. Would definitely recommend and will definitely return. Great value.

Our preferred hotel for Longwood Gardens but there were a few issues with breakfast and no heat in our room. Sadly, the restaurant was closed until New Years weekend but there are many others in the area. Close proximity to Longwood make this our usual hotel.

What a terrific location! Only a few minutes drive to Longwood Gardens and so many other sights. The room was large and comfortable with everything we needed. We hope to stay again in a few months to enjoy some of the local wineries.

This was the perfect overnight stay experience. Luxury for surprisingly low cost. FULL breakfast offerings included. Wonderful location central to everything one wants to see and do in the Brandywine Valley. The room was spotlessly clean with new looking bathroom, refrigerator and microwave and coffee maker and HUGE TV all in excellent working order. Able to easily control heat/cooling with thermostat. It really doesn't get any better than this!

Lovely, modern room, spacious. Very comfortable bed. A full, hot breakfast is included with the room rate. They had eggs, waffles, pancakes and many pastry choices in a nice dining room. This place is 5 minutes from Longwood Gardens, so it is great for people wanting to visit the great gardens. Much less expensive than other hotels in the area.

We visited the Pennsylvania area to attend Christmas events and sight see. We liked the location of the hotel. It was one of the quietest hotels we ever stayed out. Very little to no road noise for the room we were in.

The hotel is located very close to Longwood Gardens and has plenty of parking and an excellent full breakfast. There is a restaurant on site called the Mendenhall Inn that provides fine dining. The prices are on the high side but the food is outstanding. The only negative is that it is really hard to find the property at night especially if you have to make a left turn. We drove right by it the first time.

Clean and more upscale than many others. Good Value. Great restaurant options on site. Rooms are decent size and clean. Good location for sight seeing and other good restaurant choices within 5 miles.

Best BW in the state of Delaware area. Will not stay in Bear or Wilmington. We stay in Concordville, PA and now Mendenhall. Worth every penny. Central location and we are going back in December as this property is close to Longwood Gardens. Thank you.

I know that might not sound like a big deal ... but in these COVID times, you never know whether you're going to get breakfast in a hotel, whether it will be grab and go or very limited ... or extensive. That's what we had .. on a weekday too. Thumbs up. Nice front desk. And in a time when everyone seems to be looking to fill service jobs, no complaints about the room, towels etc. Quiet too, and our room faced the main road.

Do not miss this amazing hotel/restaurant if you are looking for a very special experience. The Sunday brucnh is out of this world!! The location is perfect - very near Longwood Gardens. The food and staff are exceptional.

I made a reservation for and paid extra for a room for 5. The room provided was two full size beds with a chair and absolutely no room for any additional rollaways. Three towels were provided. I understand it was a busy weekend, but when you make a reservation, you expect that.

This was our second time here and we were in the older building side. Everything is nicely renovated and the rooms are of generous size and include a fridge. These rooms have a step up in order to enter, so if this is a challenge then you should request a room in the newer building. Thankfully the Wi-Fi worked well because this little valley has challenging phone connections otherwise. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Everything about the weekend and this property was excellent. The rooms were beautiful, clean and comfortable. The staff was totally attentive. The hot breakfast was great. The restaurant and bar were beyond delicious. We live close by and this place is lovely enough to just use as a getaway from home!

Our stay was very nice. The staff was courteous and friendly. My husband left his sports coat in the closet. We called and they held it for till we returned at 3 pm. It's location near Longwood gardens was perfect. Our dinner at the restaurant was superb. Our waiter was outstanding and the food delicious

This was a very friendly hotel with a beautiful lobby and comfortable room. Breakfast offerings were plentiful and the best selection we have seen in a long time! It was a great deal for the price. I would definitely stay there again.

Beware: This hotel was built before the handicapped requirements. Each room has a step UP to enter and DOWN to leave. I nearly fell departing my room. Very awkward and surprising. Generous breakfast and all aspects of the room seemed very pleasant. Nothing special except being so very convenient to Longwood Gardens.

We stayed at the Inn at Mendenhall for just one night but really liked the hotel. It's cozy, charming, with plenty of parking, and a nice patio. Our room was clean and had a comfortable bed. We also enjoyed the fresh and tasty breakfast buffet food. However, the highlight of our stay was a wonderful young lady, Gabby, at the front desk, who was super helpful and friendly. We highly recommend this place.

Have stayed here many times and it does not disapoint. Caring staff, great room and good breakfast. The weather was very hot and this was a cool santuary to return to at the end of the day. I would definately recommend this property.

The Inn pretends to be a Premium Lodging Property but I have stayed at better Motel 6s. No swimming pool, no spa or hot tub. And they totally screwed up our reservations. We had booked adjoining rooms to help with our grandchildren. When we check in we are given different rooms on seperate floors. They staff said it would be too much work to change the rooms so we could have adjoining rooms.

The hotel was clean and well kept. The restaurant is a well kept secret. The web site just said that the restaurant was on site. It actually had wonderful food and great service The free breakfast was a full meal with fresh hot food. This is a little over 2 miles from Longwood Gardens

Firstly, this whole complex seems to be geared around weddings and receptions - most buildings look like catering halls. We did not stay here for that. Staff was courteous enough, the room seemed to be clean and that's about it for positives. The bathroom floor was wet, from what I do not want to know. The toilet paper dispenser was set on the rear wall in such a way that only a contortionist could reach it (my shoulder still aches from the effort of getting to it), the fridge - while nice to have - did not get cold enough to use, even on the "max" setting, and the air conditioning unit was situated across from the bed, in a closet, so that the constant on and off awakened us regularly throughout the night. Breakfast was ordinary and bland, though plentiful. Overall - a 3. Got to do better post-covid!

In planning our family Vacation, I had previously spoken to a pleasant staff member and made our planned visit. Once we arrived, my wife mentioned how exquisite the exterior and surrounding property looked. We have excellent service, clean and comfortable room/beds, and an enjoyable breakfast. Should we ever make it back this way from Louisville we definitely will stay here again.

We travelled from out of state, as did most of the other guestts, for a wedding. This was an excellent place to host this type of event. Everything we needed was at the hotel. The service, the htoel, the wedding venue, and restauran bar were right at our immediate disposal. Highly recommend this venue to any couple looking to get married!

Our latest stay at Mendenhall involved meeting three Ohio friends, two of whom had never seen Longwood Gardens or Winterthur. We had a wonderful time and Mendenhall was definitely part of the equation. Having a clean quiet room in which to enjoy a break in the action, having a delicious hot breakfast, having a refrigerator for leftovers and a microwave to heat up my beanbag heating pads, having a lounge on the second floor in which to play cards and visit all contributed to the success of our trip. Which is exactly what I knew would happen. After all, my husband and I had fled to Mendenhall during Superstorm Sandy when we lost power, heat, and water in NJ. After all, this is the inn where I feel so safe and comfortable that I don't mind staying by myself. After all, this is the hotel that is perfectly positioned to see the many attractions in the area in a half hour or less. Mendenhall has earned the title of this review - our home away from home.

We were very pleased, would stay here again, clean and comfortable. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful! Made us feel welcome! New and modern accommodations, free parking, and a very nice breakfast. We came here to visit Longwood Gardens, easy to find and a very short distance from Longwood Gardens.

No back door entry, no pool... but otherwise great. Breakfast had a good variety and there was plenty of seating. A bit noisy since there were 2 weddings happening. They have room service which is a plus.

The hotel was lovely and close to everything we were interested in visiting. They also provide a very nice breakfast. We were able to get to all three DuPont mansions in under a half hour as well as nice restaurants, the Riverwalk in Wilmington, shops, a mushroom farm and wineries. The hotel also has a restaurant which we will try the next time we are there. Nice outdoor area at the hotel as well. Staff was very pleasant. We would definitely stay here again when in the area.

We stayed here four nights while visiting gardens in the PA/DE area. We chose this hotel because it had an in-house restaurant. We discovered upon checking in that the restaurant is only open Thursday through Saturday evenings. Of course, we were there Sunday through Wednesday evenings! Really a disappointment! Check in staff member was disengaged to say the least. He didn't even know the breakfast hours. The good news is the guest rooms had been recently renovated, but they put the toilet paper holders behind the toilet, making it impossible to reach while on the seat!. Love to meet that designer.... Breakfast was ok, good options but the eggs were clearly reconstituted powdered ones. Really uneatable.

Unbelievably loud. Heard neighbor on one side puking during the night and neighbor on other side you could hear their pee hitting the toilet water. Fire Pitt for guest was in courtyard right outside room and was EXTREMELY NOISY.

Nice hotel, although a little pricey for what is essentially Best Western on "steroids". Room was standard but included a nice arm chair with hassock. My husband was injured and the handicapped parking was quite a distance from the lobby. Breakfast options were good but the pancake maker was either not working correctly or was too complicated to correctly navigate and the bagel was barely warm after 2 toaster cycles.

A cheerful and quiet suburban setting in a pretty neighborhood. Great location for visiting Longwood gardens [minutes away] and the Dupont estates in Delaware. Kennett Square, with its quaint and charming main street, was close by as well. The hotel parking was super easy. The fire pit at the hotel was an enjoyable plus. The full hot breakfast was delicious and of the usual fare of eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, etc. At no time did I feel uncomfortable with my stay. We would not hesitate to book this place again.

We stayed at this Inn recently to visit Winterthur and Longwood Gardens. We feel it was a great choice as it is very close to both these venues. The hotel is attractive, more "homey" looking than the normal Best Western. There is a wooded area in the back past the parking lot, which you cannot walk in, but gives a nice touch. This hotel is super clean. The young woman at the desk was so very polite and helpful, very professional, she was a delight to interact with. The beds were comfortable, you can open the windows. The rooms have a refrigerator (no freezer) and microwave, nice size television, beautiful new bathroom with, I believe, granite countertop, nice toiletries offered, not a large room, but good enough. My only issue, and why I gave four stars instead of five, is the breakfast. I understand that things have changed due to COVID 19, however, I am beginning to feel that hotels are using that as an excuse (not just this hotel, but others as well), as I am arranging a summer vacation and calling ahead about breakfast and finding sparse offerings. Regarding the Inn at Mendenhall experience, they offered cereal which was mostly children's sugary flavored cereal, gluten free bagels only (no "regular" bread at all). Most people do not have celiac disease and if gluten free is a trend, I and most people are not part of it, especially older people, which appears to be their clientele. Apples are offered, of course plentiful coffee, yogurt (only light & fit), not "regular." I guess we are all on diets as well. Thankfully, there was a warm offering, a Jimmy Dean egg and sausage biscuit. Jimmy Dean is not the best choice as their ingredients are far from pure, but I was thrilled to have them. We put them in the microwave and it was something. Well, that didn't last long, as the last half of our stay, there were none and we were told that they ran out. I feel they should anticipate their needs (including people taking two instead of one) so that all of their guests have the option of eating a warm protein every day. If they feel people are taking too many, they should monitor the sandwiches and have someone give them out. If more sandwiches was too expensive, maybe go out and get some hardboiled eggs to offer their guests? As I mentioned above, I hope that the large chain hotels are not using COVID 19 as an excuse for sub par breakfasts. If they are so concerned about COVID, why did they allow people to eat indoors? That was an option, two full rooms to eat indoors without your mask. Anyway, my food rant aside, this was an excellent hotel at an EXTREMELY affordable price, for that we are grateful and we would stay again in a heartbeat. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

A family friendly hotel near Longwood Garden, It is extremely clean and everything is in good repair. Staff are very friendly and helpful. I try to get this hotel everytime I visit Longwood Gardens and Kenneth Square.

A friend and I stayed here for one night as we were visiting Longwood Gardens the following day. The Inn is on a quiet road and was very clean, comfortable, and had great water pressure in the shower! (A big plus for my friend) Front desk staff were friendly and professional as were other staff members we encountered. The recently opened lounge/bar was inviting and even though we only had drinks, the food looked good.(the full restaurant is reopening soon) Breakfast was limited, but we expected that because of COVID restrictions. (Good coffee) I would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful experience at this hotel! We stayed for my son's wedding which was held on the same property. The room was very clean and tastefully decorated. The staff were very helpful and courteous. I would definitely recommend this venue for a wedding and this hotel for any type of visit. Only regret is not having any time to visit Longwood Gardens which was very close by.

Medenhall Inn is a quaint hotel in good repair with limited service. PROS: Condition of the property. Tina at the front desk was extremely gracious and welcoming. Gluten free bagels at the breakfast! Attractive price and easy parking. Great toiletries. CONS: Extremely limited service. I stayed for 5 nights and NEVER received housekeeping. (Later told that it wasn't being offered during COVID.) Sometimes called for assistance and no one picked up the phone. Overall I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is in a quiet area. Jeff(?) at the front desk was wonderful and helpful. The continental breakfast was awful - don't waste your time - find breakfast elsewhere. The beds were comfortable. Our room seemed to have a problem with stink bugs. I know we were in the country, but there was one under my pillow (dead), another dead one on the second bed, and a live one crawling around. Luckily, I didn't find the dead one under my pillow until the morning or I am not sure I could have stayed in that room. Also, poor ventilation in the bathroom was causing the ceiling paint to come off in large chunks. Definitely needs some maintenance.

The room and hotel and were clean and welcoming. The staff was attentive and friendly. We enjoyed our overnight stay and could definitely see us returning in the future. Mendenhall is a good place to relax and unwind.

One warning is that the Inn is in a cell phone dead zone, so you'll be depending on the Inn's wifi if you're going to be doing much with your hand-held device. Aside from that, it's simply a decent motel: rooms are clean and reasonably well-appointed. The location is not as charming as other spots in the Brandywine Valley, but you are a short ride from several attractions. During our visit the restaurant was not open and the breakfast room ran out of sandwiches; maid service and front desk staff were professional. Maybe with a functioning restaurant it moves to "above-average," but as is it's just a place to sleep comfortably.

Staff was friendly and available at all times for assistance. Guest rooms were very clean and well decorated. Breakfast bar limited due to COVID but many grab and go options. Highly recommend especially if there for a wedding.

This is our favorite place to stay in the Brandywine Valley, five minute drive to many attractions. The hotel is very well maintained, complies with all Covid protocols, well-furnished, quiet heat/AC (not a through-the-wall unit), large well-lit bathroom, friendly staff, fast wifi.

Taking into consideration we are in a restricted environment, our stay was perfect. Room was spotless and the pillows and bedding could not have been better. The entire facility was not worn but appeared new. We will definitely stay here again and hope to enjoy the amenities that are closed due to COVID restrictions.

The place is nice and the price was even nicer. Evidently the walls are thi. My girlfriend from high school who I haven't seen in several years were catching up sitting on our beds when we got a call at 10:30pm from the front desk. The neighbor room had complained that we were too loud! That was completely unexpected.

Stayed here with family so we could go to Longwood Gardens. Due to vivid restrictions we were unable to leave the gardens and then return at night like we did last year. The hotel was very accommodating and had our room ready by noon so we could pick up food and eat in the room before heading out for the day. The room was clean and it's a short uber ride from Longwood. Plan on returning again next year

We were so impressed with this place. It was very up to date and extremely clean. We had some business to take care of while there and found a nice quiet lounge area to set up our computer. We will definitely come back when in the area.

Stayed here on Thanksgiving weekend with our children and grandchildren. A 5 minute drive to Longwood Gardens also close to Delaware attractions. A cut above our usual Best Western hotel in the area. We will return again.

This hotel has the best location for visiting Longwood Gardens, Winterthur, Brandywine River Museum of Art, and other attractions. The hotel is extremely clean and the rooms and bathrooms are very stylish. The air conditioning/heating uses ductwork rather than a through-the-wall unit so it is quiet and does not blow on the bed. The rooms are very well lighted (you can read anywhere in the room) unlike most hotels these days.

When I arrived to check in, I was greeted by a big smile from the receptionist. Our original room was dirty when we got there, there was just a room number mix up. When we went into the right room, it was clean and cozy!

My family of 5 stayed here over the Labor Day weekend. In fairness, the room was clean and comfortable. This was good, but there were also serious problems. First, this is hospitality business. I do not expect to be greeted at check-in by a rather cold and laconic introvert, particularly a person with the apparent title of "hospitality specialist." We had much luggage and children to care for, and no one was either available or had any apparent interest in offering to assist in any way. Secondly, and more seriously, there were problems with the room as well. You could not close the drapes, as it was designed that way, and had little privacy. The on-site WIFI was poor. The cable TV had very few channels. And the bathroom had few towels and was lacking in basic toiletries. We would not return here and cannot recommend this hotel.

We were in a suite. The living room and bedroom were comfortable. The lighting was excellent, there was a light on each side of the king sized bed. The windows in the bedroom open, only a few inches, but you can have fresh air. We visited in September 2020, during the CoVid. All the facilities were closed. They have a beautiful, large breakfast area, but it was closed. They did provide breakfast but it was just in a bag - muffins, juice, fruit. Coffee and tea are available in each room. As we seen in other hotels, we are encouraged to reuse our towel, and just like other hotels, there was not towel rods for the wet towels.

We had one of the suites mid-week. It was clean and comfortable. They helped me out eliminating some excess noise at night from an exhaust fan. We like coming and going via stairs and theirs is decent, not a dingy hallway or anything. And the hotel is a great location if you're going to Longwood Gardens.

Overall I was pleasantly surpised at what an upscale look to the look, the whole property and the room. I was not worried in this covid time as the room was cool and clean. The only critcism is there was no milk substitute or milk available to buy to use for the inroom coffee maker. The coffee was surprising good for the system but suprised that a minor ingredient like that would not have been sourced ahead of schedule. Very close to Longwood gardens and other attractions in the River Valley. Staff pleaseant and helpful.

Great staff, very clean updated rooms, great wifi. Even during COVID-19, my stay was great! I really enjoyed the property and what they had to offer. The team was very attentive and provided great service.

My husband and I live not too far from Inn at Mendenhall but was looking for a quick getaway. I called on the phone to make the reservation and they were quick to answer the phone. The woman on the phone was so accommodating. She answered my questions and was so pleasant. Upon arrival, the man at the desk was the same. We felt very welcomed. The room was extremely clean and modern. We asked for an extra blanket and within 10 minutes we had one. We went out for breakfast and upon return, the room was cleaned. We also asked for a later check out and there was no pause in their response. I would certainly go back.

Comfortable overnight stay in Chadd Ford. Large room, comfortable bed, warm bedding, and large bathroom. Easy check-in with typical hotel breakfast. Staff friendly. Near Kennett Square dining and Brandywine Museum.

Overall, we had a great stay! I love that we were able to check in so early. We were able to get dressed and simply walk to our dinner date. The restaurant is upscale and we were able to dress up. The service for dinner was great! Then, we were able to walk back to our room and stay the night.

Stayed here overnight for the convenience of going to Longwood Gardens for the night Christmas display. The hotel staff were friendly, the room was clean and well equipped. We had dinner at the restaurant which was excellent. The only issue I had was there was a wedding party from West Chester on my floor who were loud and intoxicated and kept coming out into the hall yelling and banging on each other's doors. They kept us up until 2:00 am. We did call the front desk and they responded quickly, however once they went back downstairs the noise resumed. Apart from the aforementioned, we were very pleased with what the hotel had to offer.

Three os us visited for Christmas Eve, and it was extremely busy. But the staff remained calm and worked hard. For starters, we had 1 crab imperial stuffed mushrooms and 2 Brussels and bacon. All of which were scrumptious. We followed with two NY strips and 1 shrimp and scallops. All were absolutely excellent. Our waitress, Veronica, was attentive and kept us informed with kitchen backlog updates. While we did have to wait longer than normal due to the extremely busy kitchen, the food was really worth waiting for. Love this place!

We have stayed at several hotels in the Kennett Square area. This hotel has been our favorite to date. Beautifully appointed at a reasonable rate. The bed was very, very comfortable so sleep was great. We were there at Christmas and the hotel was decorated very nicely and we even woke up to a small present at our door. The breakfast was very nice and the scrambled eggs were perfectly cooked. Just a lovely and positive experience.

The room was large and clean. The hotel itself and the room was nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable. Good breakfast was provided, the omelet station was a nice touch. We felt that this was a great value for the money.

We were in the annex of what seemed to be the original motel. It was a weird setup with the balcony style of rooms of an old outdoor motel with the balcony enclosed after a remodel some time ago. You also had to step up from the balcony into the room which is very easy for you to trip over. These rooms were also dark. OK for a one night stay but definitely subpar for a two night or more stay.

My wife and I stayed at the Mendenhall Inn recently and it was spot on once again. Our room was neat and clean, service across the board was very good, the rate was reasonable and the breakfast in the morning was good too. I am please the recommend this nice hotel to you.

Highly recommend this hotel ...best breakfast buffet I have seen..hot and cold food with special order omelets! Very clean room. Not far from route 1. Lots of room amenities, comfortable bed, I was very delighted with my stay.

Mendenhall Inn is easy to pass by as it sits back from the road with most of the property extending back. There is a lovely lounge and restaurant attached to one wing of the inn. The entrance to the registration desk is directly across the driveway from the lounge/restaurant. Once we figured it out it was fine. Included breakfast featured a made to order omelet station. All was way Above average. We chose it for proximity to Longwood Gardens (2 miles) and Winterthur. Will return because of the value and the awesome service and food.

Loved our first time stay at the Mendenhall Inn. Excellent accommodations, with easy access to Longwood Gardens and more. Great breakfast included as well. The fine dining restaurant next door is also a delight and makes this a great package!

Chose this hotel based on proximity to Longwood gardens and relatives nearby. Nice location off the main road with quick access to Longwood and Winterthur and plenty of restaurants and shops. Updated and clean rooms with better than average breakfast.

We had spent the day sightseeing and I didn't want to be driving at night. The Inn was clean and upscale with large rooms. The hotel staff were friendly and very helpful. The included breakfast was great. The only down side was that I requested 2 extra pillows, and was told that there were none available.

Attended a wedding here. It's a beautiful inn and the breakfast was amazing. The whole staff was extremely helpful especially Sandy who was very accommodating to my girlfriend and I. We appreciate it!

Our room was below grorund level and facing a stone court yard and the banquet hall. There was no view whatsoever. One of the hand towels in the bathroom had a frayed seam. There was a mouse trap in stairwell. Very disappointed. Not a good first visit. Do not plan on going back there

The Inn at Mendenhall was a gem of a hotel. The staff was exceptional. I made a mistake on my reservation, but the front desk staff corrected the issue with little effort on my part. The rooms were super clean. Breakfast was fantastic. The omelette station is such a treat.

The room was spotless and very attractive. Bed very comfie. Breakfast was just so-so. Powdered tasting eggs. No bacon, just sausage. I asked for oatmeal and it seemed to be a bit of an issue producing it from the kitchen. The waiter brought me some packets, but I was already half way through my eggs and toast so when I said no, thank you, he was visabl annoyed.

This was our third visit to the Inn at Mendenhall . All three were equally excellent. Great value for the money spent. Very reasonable rates. Great location. Very close to Winterthur, Longwood Gardens, and the Brandywine River Museum (Wyeth collection).

We stayed at the Mendenhall Best Western Premier Motel for three nights. It was a lovely place to call home during during our trip to the "Tri-State" area. We visited sites in PA and DE and the motel was centrally located to all of them. The entire motel was clean, well maintained, staffed by friendly people and comfortable. In fact, the breakfast area was being remodeled while we were there, but a very functional alternate location was available. Our only finding was that the front desk ran out of Halloween candy! It was a nice treat to have access to while it was available. We visited the bar, had great beers and then decided to stay for dinner. The special of the day, sliced roast beef sandwich, was the best we have had in years. The meat was cooked to rare, served on a great bun and had a nice horseradish sauce. The bar staff was friendly, knowledgeable and very efficient. Clearly, we would stay there again and we recommend it highly. Kimsatty, Newport News One last thought ---- a traffic safety reminder. When leaving the hotel front desk area by car, and while trying to make a right turn onto Highway 52 W there is a very large sign (motel ad for itself) on the left of the entrance, near the road, that very effectively blocks all visibility to traffic coming from the south. One must pull up closely to the road in order to clear the traffic and could easily be eliminated by moving the sign closer to the building.

Quiet, charming location off Rt 1 close to Longwood Gardens. New rooms, very clean. Great restaurant onsite with full bar and attentive staff. Front desk staff very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Mendenhall Inn a BW Premier hotel is nothing short of wonderful. The staff are friendly and helpful, the accommodations are top notch and the Restaurant / Bar Lounge offer a nice selection of items. Would definitely return.

Went for happy hour. Staff was attentive and friendly. If you want a draft beer here, be prepared to wait. The kegs are very slow since they are location on the other side of the bar and need to travel up over the ceiling. No joke. Ordered 3 appetizers off the menu and all were meh. Crab balls tasted fishy. We were disappointed.

The setting was beautiful, but looks to be a challenge for events during inclement weather. Sorry to say, but, the food was horrible. Unfortunately, since we were there for a wedding weekend we were forced to suffer through all meals on site.

The inn exceeded all our expectations. Our room was CLEAN as was the entire facility. The staff was friendly and helped in any way they could to make our stay enjoyable. The breakfast was very good. The restaurant was five stars.... really!! Great service and food at an affordable price.

Room (142) at The Inn at Mendenhall was extremely clean, comfortable, quiet and larger than expected. Desk Staff were helpful and knowledgeable about the area. It was great having dining choices - well appointed bar, formal dining room and casual outdoor dining. The breakfast bar was well-stocked and had a variety of hot or cold breakfast choices including an easy-to-use waffle machine. There was plenty of parking and the Inn is in a quiet area less than 3 miles from Longwood Gardens and Kennett Square.

The room was clean and the bed was moderately comfortable. This hotel is located in an area that has intermittent wi-fi (I have Verizon coverage.) Had to stand in the driveway to conduct business calls. Free breakfast was the worst I have experienced.

My Daughter and I were extremely glad we decided to stay here. Hotel was lovely, rooms were clean and comfortable. They offer many amenities. Staff were courteous and helpful. After along day out and about it was nice to utilize the snack room, where you could purchase snacks( even wine) . We then went up to the second floor area which was open with a view of the lobby. Lovely area large screen TV , where we watched a movie and played cards. Much nicer than needing to sit in your room to relax.The Restaurant on the property had such great food, and atmosphere. I ordered Bananas Foster for dessert, they came and actually prepared it at our table. I cannot think of one negative thing about our stay here . Highly recommend.

Hotel staff was very pleasant at check in. Staff was helpful in helping us to locate a tour boat in Wilmington. Gym had the basic necessities. Rooms were recently updates. Location was great. Near Longwood Gardens,Brandywine Museum, Winterthur and Wilmingnton, Delaware

Arrived late after multiple Arline delays. Check in was fast and efficient. Very good bed - firm. Shower was strong! It definetly wakes you up! Quiet hotel. My room was In the building across from the main hotel - where you had to step up to enter the room. Great hotel and free breakfast- would stay there again.

We stayed two separate nights. The first was in the main building and the room was spotless and lovely. The second stay within the same week was in a adjacent building. The door to the bathroom didn't close without hitting the toilet. The water from the shower wet the floor. The entire experience was different. I cannot say enough good things about the cleanliness of the hotel, the quality of the breakfast, the nice work out area, the comforatable outdoor seating area, and the location itself. We have stayed in the newer hotels in this area, but none compares to the value and cleanliness of MI. Also, the food in their restaurant is excellent.

The Mendenhall Inn is convenient to Longwood Gardens, and Winterthur, and Nemours Estates. The room was very comfortable and quiet on the 2nd floor, nice décor. Front desk Associate Val was very patient and friendly upon check in and check out! The restaurant was very nice and we had Sunday dinner there.

This hotel is odd, in that the grounds, lobby, restaurant adjacent, and beautiful conference facilities suggest an old world elegant inn. Yet, when you walk in, there is no list of amenities anywhere in the lobby, no booklet in the room explaining layout of hotel, options for local dining, nothing. We actually had to orally ask the front desk staff all these questions. They were oddly tight lipped, but polite. Other guests walked up to the lobby desk, similarly perplexed and confused. The restaurant is next door, fancy, and super expensive. But no dinner seating after 830pm? Bar is big, but staff makes it clear they shut down close to 10pm, so do not expect to linger next to the lovely outdoor fire pit (gas) or gaze up at the stars in the pretty courtyard. Many wedding parties, conventions, family reunions, rehearsal dinners busy filling the space. Overnight or weekend guests seem to get short shift. But, clean, comfortable beds, nice enough rooms. No fans in bathrooms, not enough towels. Sound proofing in between rooms was poor. Had to ring the front desk repeatedly due to warring couple in the next room at 6am. Breakfast was pretty good. Parking easy. Wouldn't go back.

Had a good stay as it was very convenient to Longwood Gardens. Room was good aside from a major issue of not getting the room we thought we booked via Expedia. Hotel blamed it on expedia as they said they don't even have that type of room in their hotel. They really need to make sure the room types offered are the rooms that exist.

My wife and I stayed here overnight on a short trip to see the nearby Longwood Gardens in February 2019. We had an excellent experience: welcoming service, clean and spacious room, great breakfast, and a quiet night. The one downside was the lack of HGTV, one of the things we look forward to seeing on cable TV when we travel. As minor as minor can be, however.

Great location, very nice room. Would have given 5 out of 5 if the staff were better trained. There were very few people staying at the hotel. The staff certainly had the time to smile and act like they enjoyed their jobs. All they need is some training and the understanding that their only job is to give the customer a good experience.

Every review mentions the obvious value of the location if you are visiting Longwood or Winterthur attractions. There are hotel chain options but there is a feel of a quality independent with this Inn. The breakfast options are better and the attention by the staff is first rate. Cleaning, clearing when necessary and courteous. The same with the counter staff friendly and engaging. It is like they really are paying attention to your needs. No wonder it feels odd. Room furnishing I believe are recently updated there is no sign of wear at this point. On site parking is generally not a problem unless there is a wedding of significant size. In that case you may have to walk a few steps to get to the lobby. Convenient location, clean and well appointed rooms, good breakfast offerings and competitively priced. Well worth staying overnight.

I was quite pleased by the accommodations at this Inn, where I stayed through the courtesy of the Winterthur Museum and Gardens. An exceptionally comfortable room, and the staff were courteous and responsive. Also, it was so convenient to be literally steps away from the restaurant, where I had a delicious dinner.

We've dined at the Mendenhall Inn many times, but this was our first overnight stay. With tickets for Longwood Gardens and Winterthur's Yuletide, we wanted something nearby, and this fit the bill. As someone who's extremely picky, I couldn't find a single nit to pick! Our king room was spacious and the halls were quiet. Bedding was so comfortable the husband slept late; we liked the pillows so much I ordered a pair for home. The bathroom was large, with plenty of space for toiletries. Housekeeping was top-notch -- the place was immaculate. And we were surprised by the choices offered in the Breakfast Room: from eggs with home fries and sausage to malted waffles, oatmeal, cold cereals and fresh fruit, it offered something for everybody. The price was right, and we felt we got good value for our money. Highly recommended!
