"All round very good"
wfc1066, 19 Mars 2024

First impressions very good . Received a friendly welcome . The room was spacious and comfortable with a bath and all normal amenities. Breakfast was again excellent with helpful staff and reasonable choice of quality products e.g. scrambled eggs, croissants, freshly-squeezed orange juice. Bar also good in the evening.

"Classy but comfortable"
848wesw, 27 Février 2024

A classy, old-school hotel, but comfortable and recently renovated rooms. Excellent breakfast, central location with good restaurants about… the neighborhood is a beautiful renaissance and medieval city centre. I stayed for one night only on my way to somewhere else, but I would go back again with my family.

"Lovely hotel, friendly staff."
Rillers, 25 Février 2024

Our GPS took us directly there. Very pleasant hotel, well situated and with very friendly staff. The breakfast was also very good. Their garage is very handy too. We will stop there again in the future.

"Super comfortable and quiet place to stay within walking distance of the cathedral"
LorrieW834, 11 Novembre 2023

Beautiful place to stay. Within a short distance of the cathedral and the office of tourism. The staff is very helpful. The morning breakfast is delicious and has a lot of variety. Beds are super comfortable and quiet. Nice bathrooms, ours had a bath which was lovely to soak in after a long day of walking. Great restaurants close by!

"Clean, friendly, quiet and in a great location."
IrishJohnB, 27 Septembre 2023

This hotel looks older but is modern inside. The staff is very nice. It is in a great location in the historic center of the city. The area is very quiet with few cars. Breakfast has many options for everyone. The rooms are surprisingly roomy. We would stay here again.

"Good location and great rooms"
mySoloTrip2023, 23 Juillet 2023

Loved this hotel for the convenience of its location, the mattress, and the bathroom. It's an easy walk from the hotel to restaurants and shops in the historic part of Bourges. It's also quite conveniently located for shopping at the Saturday market, which I highly recommend. The mattress was wonderfully firm, and the bathroom is quite large. Breakfast was pretty underwhelming, but the staff are friendly.

"Amazing location with friendly reception staff secured parking and close to all the sights"
Brown_Samantha, 12 Juillet 2023

Located in the heart of old town Bourges, this hotel is steps from everything! Restaurants, cafes, shops, the cathedral etc etc. It is in a nice historical building, with a beautiful water fountain out front. The reception staff spoke English very well, so that helped us non French speaking travelers a lot. We had a rental car, so we reserved a secured garage parking spot. It is really small, so be sure to reserve ahead of time. We did not take the breakfast at the hotel, as we like to explore the local patisserie. Our room was comfortable and spacious. Nice bathroom as well. There is a small elevator. One note to travelers: following our cell GPS, when it announced "you have arrived!". The accuracy is not very good. On top of that challenge, hotel sent instruction that you have to announce your arrival for them to lower the traffic bollards (which we did not need as we arrived in the early afternoon) The area is kind of messy to drive in, even just for arrival and departure. Be cautious!

"Superb central location, lovely hotel with a secure car park."
Widlydidly, 02 Juillet 2023

This hotel is in a superb central location, lovely hotel with a secure car park. Many local choices of good bars and restaurants. The hotel staff were efficient and welcoming Yes I would most certainly stay here again.

"Lovely hotel"
QGoesThere, 08 Avril 2023

This is such a cool boutique hotel! The rooms are very nicely furnished and comfortable! Breakfast was a wonderful experience. The location makes checking out the sites easy. I could step out of the hotel and begin sightseeing or shopping within 1 block of the hotel. Staff was very helpful and willing to help.

"An absolutely delightful hotel"
JCQ19, 10 Mars 2023

This is a delightful hotel in the middle of the lovely small city of Bourges. The room was warm, spotless, nicely furnished and well equipped; the public rooms are pretty and elegant; the staff are charming and friendly, the breakfast buffet was tasty and good value for money, its in a lovely building surrounded by other lovely buildings: what more could you ask for?

"Family friendly hotel"
WratherS, 22 Décembre 2022

This is a gorgeous hotel right in the the center of the city! The rooms are clean and beautiful. The king suite was the perfect size for our family but it would also be a romantic destination for a couple! Merci beaucoup

"No AC during cold months of the year"
Teferi66, 10 Octobre 2022

Well the positives were that the front desk employees, both the male night manager, and the two women who checked us out were all very nice and spoke English which was a plus. The downside was that although they technically have AC, but because it's October and 50 degrees outside they only have the heat available for the whole hotel. Well the room was like 77+ so we opened the balcony, and left it open for a few hours which cooled it down a bit, but when we went to sleep we had to close them and it warmed up fast with no heater on. Didn't hate the hotel, just wish they weren't cheap on the AC

"Disappointing for a four-star"
pgbDublin, 02 Octobre 2022

We stayed two nights. First the positives: Central location close to all the historic sights, including the cathedral. No issue accessing by car, despite city traffic restrictions. The hotel advised what address to put in the satnav. The hotel is at a fork in the road. If driving, it would be best to park before you reach the hotel and get guidance to the parking which is behind the hotel, on the right. Parking is secure. The door is locked at night. The foyer is very nice. The receptionist was very friendly. She spoke perfect English, but indulged my halting French. The room had a seating area with a coffee table. There was a fridge and a safe. Also a nespresso coffee machine. Capsules were replenished each day. The bed was comfortable. The negatives: 1) Air-Conditioning: The AC was not set to cool the room. I mentioned this at reception and received a promise that it would be looked at. Nothing happened. Nor did I get any follow-up. I assume it is hotel policy to turn off the AC at this time of year. But it would have been nice to be told. I booked the hotel because it advertises AC. With the windows closed at night the room got too warm for us and interrupted our sleep. 2) Sound-proofing: There is no external soundproofing, even with the windows closed. The street is not busy but there is random shouting late at night, which again impacted our sleep. There was no early morning noise from the street. Internal soundproofing is also poor. We could hear our neighbour using the bathroom. 3) Cleanliness: The room was fine. The bathroom sink and toilet were spotless. But the shower needs work. The grout lower down was dirty. The edges of the bathroom floor need work too. The negatives, for me, far outweigh the positives. I would not stay here again and I would not recommend this hotel.

"Not your ordinary Best Western"
Mathtravel, 29 Septembre 2022

We were initially put off by the Best Western title as staying in a cookie cutter hotel in Europe is not to our liking. What a great surprise. Edward VIII stayed here before ascending the throne. Beautiful hotel in a lovely part of the old town. Easy walking to the Cathedral and other sites, restaurants, and shopping. It even has a very nice fitness room on the lower level. Our room was comfortable and had an elegant feel. Would have gladly stayed several days. Breakfast was very nice with fresh squeezed orange juice.

"Great hotel so close to the Jacques Coeur Palace, at the heart of the Old Town"
W405EKchristopheg, 22 Août 2022

Great stay, very kind helpful staff, fantastic location. Difficult to access by car, but 250 meters away from public parking. Extremely quiet surroundings and so close to the impressive Palais Jacques Coeur, beautiful historial site and gothic sculpture

"Lovely hotel with parking in the centre of Bourges"
Sheilacabalero, 06 Octobre 2021

The hotel d'Angleterre is a long established, comfortable hotel in the centre of Bourges. Service is excellent and there is a garage attached with 8 places. You can also park in the street although you have to pay during the day. It's a short walk to the cathedral and other attractions as well as shops and restaurants but the area around the hotel itself is very quiet. Highly recommended

"An elegant and welcoming hotel"
virginiev2904, 03 Octobre 2021

A beautiful hotel, very clean with spacious rooms. The service was excellent. Brilliant location as it is central and yet not noisy. The room service menu was varied and delicious. There is a car parking facility. A really nice stay

"Very good in all regards"
travelin_tommy, 04 Septembre 2021

My wife and I stayed a couple nights here. I booked a “Comfort Room” to insure a little more spacious room. It was fine, but I would be reluctant to get a smaller room. Our room was quite clean and comfortable. I selected Hôtel d'Angleterre for its central location, so we could park our car and walk everyplace. That proved to be a good decision, so we could even easily return to our room to leave or take things during the course of the day. Our interactions with staff were all positive: the day and night managers, as well as breakfast room attendants, were all friendly and helpful. Yes, I did book breakfasts to be included with the room. In this time of Covid, one wonders, but safety was important for staff and most guests. Food was decidedly above average.

"Excellent city centre hotel"
CoxieandBaggy, 18 Octobre 2020

Situated in the beautiful old town area. This hotel has half a dozen secure parking spaces, locked at night. The staff are friendly and helpful. This is not a formulaic hotel but a lovely, unique French hotel. Our room was very comfortable, well equiped and offered a lovely view of the old town with cobbled road and the old theatre. The buffet breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. The very friendly receptionist gave us a city map and recommended a choice of restaurants for dinner. We will definitely return when travelling through this way again.

"Excellent hotel in the center of Bourges"
stephanverdoold, 18 Août 2020

We stayed here for one night on our way back home. It was a nice stop as the hotel is located in the center. From here you will find all restaurants easily. It can be complicated to find a parking spot so therefore we just parked for one night in a paid parking garage.. Breakfast is great and the room was very good. Everything was clean, looked nice and the bed was comfortable.

"Excellent Location"
F7638VCnickg, 25 Octobre 2019

A recently renovated hotel . Building of a certain age and full of character. Rooms more than adequate Excellent Breakfast Professional and courteous staff Car Parking challenging Great location to walk into town It is a shame same Hotels in Samur and Anjou not up to the same standard.

"Hotel is so nice that we returned!"
CalellaDePalafrugell, 08 Octobre 2019

We stayed at this hotel last year when touring the area, and we liked it so much that we deliberately came to Bourges again, so that we could stay at this hotel once more. As last year, the staff are delightful and gave us a warm welcome. Since our last visit, some bedrooms have been refurbished, and we were in one of these rooms, which was lovely. Although the hotel is very near the centre of Bourges and in easy walking distance of the cathedral etc., it is very quiet. The hotel has an adjacent garage, if you'd like your car to be under cover. Receptionist recommended a nearby restaurant, but there are plenty to choose from. Breakfast was good. We shall be returning to this lovely hotel.

"Interesting room styling"
Joe-SVL, 07 Septembre 2019

Certainly didn't expect to find a Best Western on our Rick Steves tour of Paris and the Heart of France. The breakfast buffet was very large and excellent. There was a 2 page USA news summary available in the lobby. The large bathroom had a shower in the tub. There was bar soap provided, but not wash clothes. The WiFi seemed to disconnect when my iPad was not in use.

"Perfect in every way "
AandM14, 21 Juillet 2019

We were so pleasantly surprised with this hotel, quite simply it has everything that one needs for a short stay in Bourges. The location is really central, the staff very courteous and our room (108) was perfect. Excellent mattress, lovely linen, drinks fridge, hair dryer that works and perfectly placed by a mirror, tea and coffee facilities for that cup of tea in bed, powerful shower with lots of hot water and Curtains that kept the light out . Also an underground garage so for us this hotel ticked every single box.

"Perfect stay!"
ChrisH3040, 04 Juillet 2019

This charming hotel may be lost on some due to the Best Western part of the name. In our experience, BW has added some of the most charming European hotels to their brand. This one is no exception. Pictures of the original property, before it became a hotel, are on display in a glass case in the lobby. The rooms are large and super comfortable. There is a very small fridge filled with cold drinks for purchase. Along with the pant presser there is an iron. The bathroom is small but the toilet is separate from the shower making it easier to get ready faster and out exploring this charming city. Since we visited during an extreme heat wave, we were happy to find the A/C worked exceptionally well! The location is great for exploring the town and easy to get to. There is secure garage parking for an additional small fee but well worth it. (Be sure to reserve a spot in advance as there are only 8.) The staff was super friendly and helpful in recommending a restaurant and securing a reservation. The breakfast buffet provided a good selection. Hard-boiled or soft boil your own eggs, toasts, meats, cheeses, pastries, cereals, yogurts and juices Be sure to try Le Bourbonnoux for dinner! Fabulous meal (see restaurant review).

"Beautiful old hotel in excellent location"
src1948, 29 Juin 2019

Pros: Beautiful old building Great location in the heart of the old town Unloading space in front of hotel Small secure, easily-accessed garage, though book in advance Decent sized room with big window (though uninspiring décor) Adequate aircon OK bathroom OK breakfast, though fairly small selection Friendly, helpful staff Cons: One tiny lift OK TV - CNN but not BBC Uncomfortable bed – new mattress would help

"Lovely room helpful staff great location "
GretchenS828, 02 Juin 2019

We stayed here as part of a Rick Steve's tour. The town of Bourges is lovely. The location of the hotel is very central you can walk to the market if you are there on a Saturday, the Cathedral is within walking distance. Rooms are very comfortable the bathroom is spacious and has counter space. Highly recommend

"Comfortable room, friendly staff, great experience"
Kgirl00, 27 Mai 2019

He had an excellent stay at Hotel D'Angleterre. The staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke some English. There was a nice little lounge area that we enjoyed during the evenings. Their wine and beer were only a few euros each. Our room was clean and comfortable.

"A mixed bag."
11MichaelA11, 24 Avril 2019

We stayed here as part of a tour group and the walk where the bus let us off, due to the hotel's location in an interesting older section of the town, could be a challenge for some. It is a Best Western property. The room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was large and modern. Towels and linens were of a very good quality. They provided wash cloths. The toilet paper was unfriendly. A television had a couple of English language channels. The room had central air conditioning, but it could not be adjusted in the room. As it was a warmer than normal day, the room was quite warm. Our biggest negative was breakfast. As part of a tour group we were exiled into a large room with fewer amenities than the normal breakfast room. Service was nonexistent with uncomfortable seats. The tables had no table settings. Coffee was substandard. They offered plenty of bread choices, cereal and toppings. There was no hot food. In summary, it was an okay stay.

"Great place to stay"
13PamelaS, 17 Février 2019

Fantastic location with the added bonus of secure garage parking in the centre of a wonderful medieval city. Staff very friendly and helpful. We arrived on a Saturday night and all the restaurants we quite liked the sound of were fully booked so reserve one in advance if possible.

"Probably best location in town"
RWietlisbach, 15 Octobre 2018

When it comes to location, the BW L'Angleterre couldn't do any better. It's smack in the old town centre and within easy walking distance (500m) of the cathedral. Yet it offers parking in its private garage, which is not easy to find in the centre of a medieval town. The building itself is very historic and has a lot of charm. Excellent service and very nice breakfast buffet. We very much appreciated that although we arrived very early in the day (around 12:00 noon), we were able to get into our room straightaway, which was great. We also like our room (mini suite), although getting to the room with a lot of luggage (2 large suitcases and 2 carry-ons) proved to be a bit of a challenge due to the tiny lift. The one thing we didn't like was a strange strong smell coming from the bathroom. Upon arriving in our room, we didn't really notice, as we headed out again after just a few minutes. But when coming back at the end of the day and wanting to rest before getting ready to go out for dinner, the smell seemed to grow stronger and stronger and became overwhelming. It was only after taking a shower that the smell was gone. Presumably it had been coming from the drain in the shower. But overall a very nice and pleasant stay.

"A true hidden gem"
mcoomer, 06 Octobre 2018

I've stayed here several times for business, and when my wife and I were passing through on the way to Paris this was a no brainer. Located in the center of old Bourges, this little hotel is minutes from the old cathedral, pubs, and restaurants. Rooms are on the smallish side, but very tastefully decorated, clean, and modern. Staff doesn't seem to have changed since I've been coming here and they're all very nice and capable. If you're staying in Bourges, overnight or for an extended time, I highly recommend this hotel.

"Nothing better in city center"
gregg1200, 22 Septembre 2018

Historic building and the location could not be more central. Staff is superb. Reserve parking if you are travelling by auto as Centre Ville is very auto unfriendly and having gps may save your life. Wonderful spot.

"Great location in Bourges"
crajku0, 16 Septembre 2018

The Best Western in Bourges was perfectly located in the center of Bourges. The staff (especially Stephanie) were very nice and friendly. She helped us out on many occasions with helping us find our wallet we left at a gas station and helping us with dinner and breakfast. The rooms were spacious for an European hotel and they were very clean. I would say the only downside was being able to hear the pipes when people flushed all night. Other than that, it was a great spot for an overnight stay in Bourges.

"Great service and great location"
Kakan2, 13 Septembre 2018

The hotel is perfectly locate din downtown Bourges. Nice rooms and also a nice reception area. Staff wás really service minded and helpful, and even helped with parking the car for us to help avoiding parking tickets. Breakfast ok, but not outstanding.

"Wonderful Hotel in Great Location for Touring"
TorontoJK, 26 Juillet 2018

This is a charming, historic property updated with all the modern amenities and within easy walking distance to all the sights. Our room was spotlessly clean with large comfortable beds, up to date plumbing, and an endless supply of hot water and good water presssure in the shower. We enjoyed our stay and would choose this hotel again.

"Well Chosen!"
Wineaway, 23 Juin 2018

Together with another couple we stayed here on 2 separate nights, breaking our journey from the UK to Perpignan and the reverse. As there was a festival our first visit we were only able to reserve basic rooms, which were perfectly fine. Comfortable beds, good shower, and opening windows - always much appreciated. Our return visit we had superior rooms which were considerably larger, with small halls on entering. Both bathrooms were large, one with a double shower, the other with a bath and over bath shower. We stayed in Room 122, which was delightful and had a small balcony. We slept with the doors open as it was a very hot night. There was a terrific noise outside the hotel around 2am. Sadly, it would appear that the night porter, who I am told normally deals with this sort of problem, was no where in earshot. The Reception manager expressed surprised and indicated she would follow it up. Breakfast is extremely good, and very plentiful. I would urge the hotel to provide drinking glasses in all room - squashy plastic containers in the bathroom should stay in the bathroom! It took me some time to persuade the aforementioned night porter to provide water glasses. Apart from him the staff were all extremely helpful and very friendly. A restaurant recommendation - Entre Nous, about 6 minutes walk away — - resulted in us eating there both evenings we were in Bruges. We also reserved 2 parking spaces for each stay - the parking is well managed and as long as you have power steering doesn't present a problem! The cost - €13, I think was very reasonable given that the garage was locked overnight and saved an unseemly dash to the public carpark before 9am! We would happily stay there again

"Lovely hotel in fantastic location"
traveler11223, 23 Juin 2018

I really appreciated the AC, clean room and generous breakfast. Staff was quite helpful. Every place I wanted to go was an easy walk. The Saturday market was especially enjoyable. Lots of good restaurants nearby.

"Beautiful little hotel in the heart of town"
Kathy S, 16 Mai 2018

We were visiting the Castle of Guedelon on our trip between Paris and the Loire. I was surprised to see recommendations to stay here, since it isn't that close to Guedelon, but we were happily surprised by this charming town and great little hotel. It was a little tricky finding the hotel because of the one-way streets, but we were able to unload our bags right in front of the hotel and parking was nearby, and free until 9 a.m. Our group of 8 were all pleased with their rooms, and there's a small lift. Breakfast was very good. The desk clerks were friendly and helpful, and directed us to a good restaurant for dinner. The town is easily walkable and the cathedral is worth the walk. I'd recommend it, and hope to return!

"Charming hotel in the centre of Bourges"
ILoveTravelling413, 19 Avril 2018

Charming, boutique hotel in the centre of Bourges - and great rates too. Lovely exterior, amongst quaint, narrow streets and easy walking distance to the main sites and restaurants. Breakfast is simple and plentiful. Staff were helpful and kind. We were driving and being able to drop bags off and have secure parking was a real comfort. Highly recommended!

"We were there by mistake!"
J H, 12 Mars 2018

Booked over the internet and asked for parking. Hotel is in the middle of the town and parking was excellent and secure. There is no restaurant, but we were advised to go round the corner where there was an excellent Brasserie. Room was very comfortable and warm. It was freezing outside. Breakfast was good and if you want to be in the middle of the town to explore..ideal. would go back

"A good basic hotel"
morgan45, 19 Janvier 2018

The receptionist was fab, the room was perfectly acceptable as was the bathroom. The bed was a lot better than most in French hotels and the place had a charm about it. There is not really a bar and no restaurant, so it is difficult to relax anywhere other than the room. There is parking though it is a bit pricey and not exactly spacious, I had our small car with us and I don't think I could have parked the other one!

"Lovely hotel in a great location"
MSH-Sussex, 24 Novembre 2017

This is a charming hotel. Very friendly staff, comfortable and spacious room and excellent breakfast. If travelling by car, it's worthwhile reserving a space in the hotel's small but secure car park round the corner – but it's easy to first pull onto the area in front of the entrance to unload case(s) if needed.

"Clean, quiet hotel, great location"
Gary M, 23 Novembre 2017

This hotel is clean, quiet, and centrally located to make everything walk able. Our room was a good size with a very gracious sized bathroom. Staff were all very friendly and were willing to help with anything we needed. It has breakfast available and a bar/lounge so you can sit have a drink before of after your day. Had a really nice stay.

"Location and Comfort"
poppyb594, 04 Novembre 2017

Very nice hotel in vintage building with modern amenities. Located in the old city it is just around the corner from the Palais Jaques Coeur and a few blocks from the cathederal. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The desk staff spoke good English. The breakfast room and lounge are roomy and pleasant. Good value for the money. For folks used to American Hotels we were exceedingly pleased that the tall windows opened to the narrow street below. The only problem we encountered was a lit sign next to our window, but opening the closet door minimized that. In short recommend this hotel highly

"Wonderful location and acommodations."
cgw37, 09 Octobre 2017

The hotel is located right in the middle of the old town and is within walking distance to many attractions, fine restaurants, and shopping. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Protected parking is available on the hotel premises at a reasonable cost. Breakfast is great. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a wonderful, modern bathroom. This is one of the best Best Western hotels we have used in Europe.

"Return visit "
David W, 23 Septembre 2017

This is our fifth visit to Bourges, and our second stay at this hotel. It is in a great central location, we stayed in room 226. Which was great, a mini suite, with good views from the bedroom window. The public areas are very comfortable, and in good order. Fantastic staff, very helpful and friendly. The restaurant is for breakfast only, however Bourges has plenty of restaurants to choose from. We have stayed in three hotels in Bourges, we would always choose this one. Highly recommend ed.

"Great hotel in the middle of Bourges"
AndyPlanet043, 20 Septembre 2017

Our booked hotel (Ibis Styles Bourges) was fully booked and we were rebooked to the Best Western Hotel D'Angleterre, in the centre of Bourges. Especially because we were passing through from Spain to Paris, this hotel was a very nice surprise. The hotel is located on a very picturesque street in the middle of Bourge and we received a very warm welcome despite we arrived in the middle of the night. The rooms were beautiful, clean and the bathroom was superb. Breakfast was also great and was served downstairs in a beautiful old room. Although we were passing through, we spent the morning exploring the city and quickly forgot our troubles the night before with the Ibis Styles. Thanks again!!!

"Comfortable and discreet, yet close to the centre of town."
RuthieMead, 25 Août 2017

We often stay at this hotel on our journey back to Calais from the Med. It's comfortable, with a pleasant reception area. The "classic" bedrooms are quite snug - but comfortable, and the bathrooms are always very good indeed. Tea and coffee provided in the rooms as well as extra pillows. The hotel is in a quiet street - with on-street parking (make sure you have euros for the machine) but only a five minute walk away from numerous restaurants and cafes as well as some serious retail therapy. Oh - and should you require quiet contemplation, the Cathedral is five minutes in the other direction. Breakfast is the usual buffet, but with attentive yet unobtrusive staff. An ideal stop off point.

"Very good!"
GIORGIO M, 23 Août 2017

We are two couple of italians, and stayed in this hotel two times: on 29/07 and 10/08, choosing Bourges as intermediate step for the roundtrip. It is located in a very characteristic small square, with a small fountain in front. It is possible to download the luggage and then park not so far, in another square. Anyway, for our second night on 10/08, we have booked the Hotel parking (it has only few places...), which is at 20 meters (paying a reasonable tarif). The Hotel is an old buiding completely restructured at the internal, maintaining its charm of passed years. The rooms are spotless, quiet, enough space, with air conditioning. The bathroom very new (special shower!) and confortable. The breakfast is in a classic room and it is very complete (french croissants included...!!). The service at reception was extremely kind and useful both the times. Knowing that we had to return at the hotel after some days, the Hostess suggested us to book the parking Hotel for that day and also a restaurant for the first dinner (unfortunately it was full). When we returned, the parking was ready for us, and another Hostess booked that restaurant for us (this time it was free and it revealed a very good choice: le Bourbonnoux, near the Cathedral..). So the stay has been facilitated! Bourges is nice to visit, with maiestically cathedral of Saint Etienne above all. We sincerely feel to suggest this Hotel.

"A good margin for improvement "
Andrew H, 21 Août 2017

Reception 3/5 The guy at the reception was kind and helpful BUT I previously booked the parking for the car and found out there was no parking available so I got pretty disappointed and if I had came with my own car for sure I would have changed immediately hotel and asked for a refund. Had to leave the car in a public park closed to the hotel bearing all the risk of damages during the night. Position 5/5 Hotel is super centric Room 4/4 The room is nice and comfortable but the wifi is terrible and slow Bathroom 4/5 Breakfast 2/5 Very poor in terms of offer to be a 4 star. The blonde lady serving it seems you bother her every question you make. Cappuccino was horrible Final 3.8/5

"friendly and accommodating"
Asifindit, 20 Août 2017

We had mistakenly booked 2 rooms for the wrong night, and Pascal was so helpful and changed our booking without any problem. He made us very welcome. We had a very comfortable night, and the perfect breakfast.

"Basic hotel, but a great choice for Bourges"
whimsey21, 26 Juillet 2017

I stayed here for three nights in June, and was very pleasantly surprised. The hotel is located close to the city center, and is a very easy walk to the (few) tourist sites and the "old town." The hotel itself is extremely small, but I found the staff to be quite friendly, and the property to be very comfortable. My room was a good size, with a comfortable bed, decent sized bathroom, and very effective air-conditioner. The room was extremely quiet, allowing me to sleep well, and the wifi met my needs. The BW Angleterre is what I'd consider a fairly basic hotel, but it provides a clean, comfortable place to base yourself if you need to be in the city. Breakfast was also small, but quite adequate, with a very tasty selection of cheeses, various pastries, fresh fruit, and coffee beverages. I was very happy with my stay and would choose the BW again in the future.

"somehow undersized packing unsuccassfully a lot in very little"
Bardangas, 23 Juillet 2017

Neither the sum nor the parts are 'awesome' and it manages to oversell itself especially to a clientele that is impressed by heritage overtones. It is a small understaffed establishment with a very good concierge cum receptionist cum manager - a Mr Pascal. He was excellent. The room was marginally well serving for the price. The location is excellent indeed and the information provided by Monsieur Pascal. Boisterous enthusiasts resided the establishment. Car parking facility lacking.

"Impeccable"
Gerard G, 12 Juillet 2017

Centre ville , walking distance to all spots in Bourges- cathedral, jacques coeur palace...-.Nice rooms, air conditioning, excellent equipment . Very good breakfast. Private Parking available -strongly advised to book in advance -. All in all , an excellent choice in Bourges.

"Help when needed"
Yvette_Lawson, 06 Juillet 2017

We stayed here one night in May. It was a holiday in France. I fell and cut my head and was told if I went to the hospital it would take 4 to 5 hours to be seen. With nothing open (drug stores..etc) the hotel got me bandages and tape. This saved out trip. By the way the room and breakfast was great

"Very nice hotel in Bourges centre"
Darryl R, 06 Juillet 2017

Spent two very comfortable nights here; great location and very convenient to walk to all the main sights' I had prebooked a car park space but there are plenty of public car parks close by anyway. Room comfortable, air conditioning functioning in the middle of a heat wave, staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast good.

"A few notes"
jhklaw, 25 Juin 2017

A/C not effective although not hot outside. WiFi so slow it is unusable. No cable - only French channels. Asked for ice - told I could have a only little amount because they have a small ice machine. Soap dispenser on wall in bath - no shampoo or conditioner. They list themselves as a 4* hotel. .

"Lovely, charming and well situated Bourges hotel"
Hockeymom54, 25 Juin 2017

Spent 2 nights in this lovely hotel oozing with charm. Good location for walking everywhere in town. Comfortable beds, air con was perfect (which I can't say for many hotels Stateside or abroad), breakfast was very satisfactory, staff was friendly and helpful. Coffee was passable but they ran out during breakfast and didn't seem to want to make another pot. Parking very limited and we ended up in a public lot. Free wifi was spotty in the room but the town has excellent free wifi so it wasn't much of an issue. Average marks for service only because of the odd coffee issue.

"Comfort in Bourges"
petematthews, 05 Juin 2017

Stayed here a week ago - Approx 10 minute walk from the Bus station. I tried to get a cab but didn't see any at all. I eventually asked in a small Tabac, and the guy in there was very helpful and pointed me in the right direction.Very nice hotel on the corner of a small road. Clean and comfortable, helpful receptionist. The room was a good size, airy and very pleasant. A good continental breakfast - Approx 6 minutes walk to the Cathedral, and a very good restaurant opposite called L'Amphitryon which was excellent - good home cooking, good selection of wines. A well situated hotel.

"FIRST CLASS LOCATION"
johnGerrardsCross, 26 Mai 2017

This is a very attractive hotel - an old building right in the middle of the old town in Bourges. There is plenty of room to pull up in a car outside to unload. The hotel's car park is very close - but also quite small (but one would expect nothing else in such an ancient street). The "non old town" Bourges is not terribly attractive, but don't worry - the old town is very pretty and the cathedral is spectacular. I think Bourges is under rated - it is well worth a visit. The room was large and well furnished. The air conditioning was a bit weak, as was the coffee at breakfast (another reviewer commented on this). The wifi is free, but (as usual) there is only BBC World offered as an English channel. TV packages are available that include a wide range of British TV channels. It is a pity that so many French hotels do not welcome British visitors by giving them something to watch on TV. The staff were very helpful and I would be very happy to revisit.

"Perfect for the old town"
Patrick B, 25 Mai 2017

In the centre of the old town, a rather old-fashioned but pleasant hotel. Excellent beds. Spotless. Soundproofed. Helpful reception. Very good breakfast. Public parking is difficult so reserving a space in hotel garage very recommended. The room is a little small for the price. But perfect if you want to potter around visiting the old town.

"Great hotel!"
falads, 14 Mai 2017

This was our second stay at the Hotel d'Angleterre. There is nothing to criticise and a lot to praise. The hotel is in a great location, very central. We had a clean and very comfortable room with nice bathroom; secure, covered parking; good breakfast served in our room at the time requested; and, best of all, extremely helpful, friendly staff. Highly recommended.

"Great for a short stay"
ChantellaD, 14 Mai 2017

Stayed here for 3 nights whilst working in the area. Hotel is very well situated in Bourges town, close to lots of restaurants and the cathedral is a shirt walk. They even serve English breakfast tea!

"Four Stars-Mostly"
ulysses4, 01 Mai 2017

We are very fond of Best Western Hotels, particularly in Europe where the combination of independent ownership, generally passionate and skillful management, older and historically interesting properties and good value comprise an attractive package. This hotel has a lot of positives and a few annoying missteps-most of which could and should be corrected. First the many factors on the plus side: a bull's eye center of town location. a charming and caring staff. Great character and individuality in the public rooms and the accommodations, all of which are kept clean to a very high standard. Through the combination of thick glass and the nature of the nearby streets, it is quiet and peaceful. Our bathroom was modernized and generally pleasing, although track ceiling lighting is-as is often the case-inadequate for shaving, putting on makeup, etc. The main, correctable negatives center around breakfast. An attractive enough room, but commercial/industrial grade orange juice, and the weakest coffee I have been served in years (and we usually visit 25-30 hotels a year) is more consistent with a two star than a four star grade. The scrambled eggs looked better that they tasted. Also, the napkins/serviettes barely cover one knee, much less your lap. They are inadequate for cocktails much less breakfast. This is false economy. Treat your guests with more respect. We were glad that the hotel had a garage; but it is a Rubik's Cube affair with nine very narrow spaces that would be a challenge even if a crane could move the cars into the spaces for you. Fortunately, for us, we arrived on a quiet weekend day, and left on an even quieter national holiday. On a busy day, the facility could be dangerous or just unworkable since you most likely will have to back out past some immovable stanchions and into traffic. The hotel has a small elevator, probably all that would fit in a very old building. Bourges is a lovely city, and we would certainly consider staying here again-but would hope that they would choose to make breakfast a more pleasurable experience even if they had to charge extra for it.

"Excellent Charming Hotel"
Peter W, 29 Avril 2017

This is a lovely small hotel located near all the main attractions in Bourges. The hotel is in an old building which means it has some charming characteristics. The lobby and bar lounge are small but nicely furnished. There is a wonderful wooden staircase heading up the the upstairs rooms. There is a classic 2 person lift available as well. My room was lovely. There was a small sitting room as soon as I entered. The bed was on a platform 3 steps up. Very comfortable indeed. The modern bathroom was 3 steps down. An unusual room layout but the that is part of the charm of this place. The tub and shower were very modern and the water was hot vet rapidly. Breakfast was limited but of excellent quality. You just don't find bread like this anywhere outside of France. The wifi signal was weak in many of the hotel areas but was fine in the bar. The garage was small and required some creative maneuvers to get in and out.

"Excellent stopover in Bourges"
robtLoughborough, 23 Janvier 2017

We have visited this hotel many times in recent years as an overnight stopover to or from the Midi. Its is "sans rest" but the very helpful staff will recommend decent places to eat. Beware of Sunday and Monday evenings though as there is very little choice!

"Perfect location, very comfortable"
VictoriaSW1, 27 Décembre 2016

We had an enjoyable stay at L'Hotel d'Angleterre. Its location in the centre of Bourges means that exploring everywhere on foot is easy. It's a few yards from the beautiful Jacques Coeur Palace. Rooms are comfortable. If there is a space, parking in the small garage is very convenient. Staff is friendly and helpful.

"Great Choice for a Stay in Bourges"
Trek-Always, 01 Décembre 2016

Great location. Everything that you will want to do is easily walkable from here. Strong breakfast. Clean and comfortable. Quiet. Lots of eating choices nearby. If this review is helpful then please indicate so below.

"Not bad at all"
Zokkita, 14 Novembre 2016

Great room, great welcome, very good meal. Great pub opposite. For the middle of nowhere can't complain at all! Parking very easy at the time - November ... in the same street as hotel ... didn't go for breakfast as sleep well over leaving time but they were ok with that...

"Quaint and Comfortable"
ARB1615, 27 Septembre 2016

Comfortable room with modern bathroom. Shower. Electrical outlets on both sides of bed. Refrigerator in room. Small closet. Wifi worked in room. Great location - easy to walk to all attractions and to local market. Nice breakfast with pastries, eggs, yogurt, fruit, tea/coffee. Friendly staff. Tiny elevator if you need one. Would stay here again.

"All the amenities of an American hotel including AC"
suzieq77, 25 Septembre 2016

Nice, nice place on quiet side street in this ancient town. Convenient location to everything. Very pleasant staffing and decent breakfast. Thankfully there is an elevator altho very tiny but sure beat hiking several flights of stairs just to get to first level of rooms. Bathroom is very up to date.

"A pleasant hotel"
Mike P, 13 Septembre 2016

Great room (superior) with plenty of space large bed and refurbished bathroom. Pretty well in the centre of town but quiet at night. Everything easily walkable. Adequate breakfast but not as good as one should expect in a hotel in this price bracket

"Great boutique hotel"
Paul B, 02 Septembre 2016

Lovely place to stay if you want to make more of a stopover. Book the secure parking it's worth the extra to park off street (although we weren't actually charged) if you're heading north or south with a car full...

"Great location.. Tired hotel"
Vixster28, 27 Août 2016

The location of the hotel was great. However, the hotel was tired. The carpet in the room was dirty, although the bathroom was nice. The room was also tiny. Breakfast was included, however it was also tired.. the cheese, ham etc looked old.. and they were very slow to restock the pastries, and only put 4 minis out at a time with maybe 15 people waiting to swipe them. The sausages were uncooked and the scrambled egg was ok. The yoghurts were warm in a dish, which I assume went in and out of a fridge until out of date... they were already off. A small mini bar like fridge would have helped this situation. The 24hr bar was interesting... You had to ask the receptionist for a drink which they may or may not have - Pot luck there! Also, if you come in late, be prepared to ring many times to get in again. Car parking was reasonable for secure parking in the centre, but there is free parking available up the road if not.

"Very pleasant hotel in heart of Bourges"
Roger W, 23 Août 2016

Ideal for an overnight stay on your journey south.Large clean refurbished room and good parking garage attached to the hotel Very handy for choice of local restaurants. Good choice on breakfast menu and WiFi easy to connect to.

"Small but perfectly formed"
LeMansLarry, 15 Août 2016

Good place for a stopover. Well placed in the city, with main street and cathedral in walking distance. Small lobby, small dining room, small bar/lounge and tiny lift. However, it is all well appointed, clean, well maintained with friendly helpful staff. Room was adequate in size, quiet, air-conditioning, en-suite, wi-fi, TV and tea/coffee making. All we needed for our nights stay. The secure carpark is also small and spaces need to be reserved. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice and quality. I would stay here again and explore more of the area.

"Horrible experience don't go there!"
Marisa G, 04 Août 2016

This was a real disappointment it was far from the centre and Cathedial the staff were cold and unhelpful and recommended a horrible beer smelling bar/ restaurant for our evening meal but luckily ther was an ok restaurant across the road I would really recommend you avoid staying in this hotel.

"Two nights"
Bob S, 02 Août 2016

What a great little hotel. If you want parking you do need to book it in advance. However, my wife and I shared a room with a view of the Cathedral towers - quite splendid. Meticulously clean. The staff were courteous and helpful. For those who like a busy town, Bourges is not good on Sundays.

"Best western Bourges "
Fran B, 25 Juillet 2016

Our stay at Best Western d'Angleterre was lovely. The room was clean and quite spacious. Breakfast was included in our stay and was delightful. Parking was secure and undercover even though we were right in the heart of the town. Great location, easy walking distance to the Main Street with good restaurants, and amazing cathedral and beautiful parkland.

"Excellent Location, Awesome Breakfast!"
Tibor B, 14 Juillet 2016

I was recently in Bourges and had the pleasure of staying in the Hotel d'Angleterre. The hotel is situated almost in the center of the old town, it is surrounded by one way cobblestone streets. Everything in the old town is within walking distance. If you google map directions to anywhere it "seems" that the driving time is double the walking time. About the hotel: The rooms are smaller than "American" hotel rooms, but when in France in the summer time you really will only sleep in the room. The bed was in my opinion high quality, along with the comforter. The room had a TV a desk, a mini fridge, and a really nice (in my opinion) bathroom. I actually preferred this bathroom to many "american" style bathrooms. The staff has many people to speak English either very well or broken, either way, I had no problems communicated with any of them. Which added to my comfort level due to my inexperience with the French language. I have to specifically talk about breakfast, because to me this was awesome. Coffee is important to me, so to others this section might not apply. The staff personally brings coffee to you if you ask, the coffee itself was great every day, now I'm not a Starbucks regular, and I'm not a coffee snob, but this coffee was great to me every day. The food was a variety of meats and breads (the breads and pastries were FRESH local fare EVERY morning). The scrambled eggs, I'm sure it's nothing cosmic, but they add cream or something to their scrambled eggs, and I swear they were the best scrambled eggs I've had in a LONG time. I found myself looking forward to my morning breakfast/coffee due to the freshness of EVERYTHING food related. They only had one small juice dispenser, which wasn't a big deal to me, because if you wanted anything else you could just ask. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

"Delightful stop-off en route to Spain"
a1emslie, 11 Juillet 2016

This is a sweet place to stay in an historic town, with a beautiful cathedral.Rooms are spotless and beds very comfortable. Breakfast is good and one can reserve safe parking. The Centre of town is an amble away. A perfect stopover on a long drive. This was my third visit on my drive through to the Costa Brava. Excellent staff who are extremely helpful.

"well situated in Bourges"
aagourmet, 09 Juillet 2016

The hotel d'angleterre is nicely situated for touring the city of Bourges. Literally right around the corner is the Palais de Jacques-Coeur and just down the street is the UNESCO Cathedral of St. Etienne. Also, it is close to the ramparts and many of the half timbered buildings of the town. It has parking (not as tight as I thought it might be given other reviews). The room was fine with free wireless and it had a nice enough breakfast. We also sat in the lounge after dinner and had a digestif. also a pleasant experience. The staff were both friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again if in Bourges.

"Lovely hotel in lovely Bourges"
hannahloves2travel, 02 Juillet 2016

We had a big very attractive room with a big bathroom and a great shower. Loved it!!! Location is very good and breakfast was delicious. The hotel has a lot of old world charm, but is nicely maintained.

"Central spot in beautiful city"
Andrew M, 22 Juin 2016

Bourges is the medieval equivalent of Bath, a heritage delight. The hotel is right in the centre near all the things you want to see, so very convenient. It is small, has a wonderful history of its own and aims to please it's visitors. It's staff are a delight. Rooms unpretentious, clean and comfortable and excellent breakfast. No restaurant but there is a very good restaurant within 20 yards and many more nearby. Wifi bit dodgy but that was being upgraded when we stayed. We thoroughly enjoyed our one night and plan to go back.

"Great hotel, well located"
pealringer, 05 Juin 2016

Stayed here an route from Beziers to Paris. Spent a rainy day trying to see the old town, but that did not work out too well so we repaired to our hotel room with a bottle of Sancerre and some fresh pastries. We did visit the Cathedral, though it is big it is rather plain inside, it's a better sight at night when illuminated. There is no dinner at the hotel, but fortunately there are lots of choices close by.

"Great location!"
SaintesJeremy, 20 Mai 2016

Located in the heart of the old town this is the place to stay when visiting Bourges. Friendly staff, and very clean comfortable rooms. A stones throw from the fantastic Jaques Coeur Palace which must be top of your visit list.

"Very Comfort Stay Bourge, France"
David L, 11 Avril 2016

Nice, quite and comfortable hotel right in old city area, walking distance to shops and cafes. Hotel staff are friendly. There is parking on site and not recommended, the space is small and guest have to pay a small fee for overnight parking.

"On teh way to Paris"
GeorgeK46, 24 Mars 2016

We stayed at Best Western Hotel d' Angleterre for one night on our way to Paris from southern France. We wish we could had stayed longer since the hotel was one of teh best that we have experienced in France. Modern good size bathrooms (unusual for France), spacious rooms well furnished, excellent breakfast buffet (included) and an excellent location only 5 minutes walk to the famous cathedral. Parking overnight outside the hotel in no problem but only up to 9 am when stores open and teh car has to be moved. Strongly recommend it.

"The perfect place to stay for a visit to Bourges"
Cincinnati-Bill, 16 Janvier 2016

Located in the heart of the ancient half-timbered city of Bourges, this hotel provides a warm welcome, covered parking, comfortable rooms, and an excellent breakfast. As befits the name, the staff are English-speaking. With the WAZE GPS app at least, it was easy to find. (Due to the medieval layout of the narrow streets, with many being one-way, a GPS app is very helpful in the city.)

"Business in Bourges"
Leonard C, 22 Décembre 2015

I can't fault my stay at the Hotel D'Angleterre. I have stayed their on many occasions and it has become my hotel of choice when staying in Bourges, The hotel is well managed by pleasant staff, provides comfortable accommodation and is well situated in Bourges providing easy access to attractions, shops and restaurants.

"Elegant historic hotel with excellent staff"
Epices6, 14 Décembre 2015

I stayed with my group in this elegant, centrally located hotel and loved our three nights there. The rooms are comfortable, with quality amenities, the staff is simply excellent: caring and accommodating. The hotel is (rightfully) well-known and booking ahead is essential.

"Wonderful Historical Building transformed for comfort"
George M, 22 Novembre 2015

This hotel is in the old part of town which is spectacular. It is a few blocks walking distance to many historical sights. The cathedral nearby is simply spectacular and much more intimate than visiting Notre Dame or Chartres. The staff was excellent and the breakfast was tasty. They were very accommodative and allowed us to take our breakfast to our room so we could relax and drink our coffee while waking up. We got the suite which had an extra bedroom and provide plenty of space. There is parking if you need to park your car, just be prepared that it is a snug space, but the staff is very helpful. Wear good walking shoes as these streets are very old stones....but it is wonderfully atmospheric. A wonderful place to chill out and also to use as a base to explore the many chateaux in the area.

"Very comfortable stay"
MikeAtsill, 02 Novembre 2015

So glad we decided to head into Bourges for an overnight stay en route from Spain to Le Touquet, instead of staying out by the autoroute as normal. We pre-booked parking which I would recommend. The receptionists spoke good English which was helpful and all the staff were very accommodating. We had a classic double room which was very clean and quiet. We went out for dinner to Restaurant Sarl le Bearnais which is a pleasant little bistro about 10 mins from the hotel (see separate review). As other reviewers have commented it is an excellent hotel from which to explore Bourges. It is a great place to wander around and the cathedral and gardens are worth a visit. The breakfast buffet was very good with a mixture of hot and cold food. Would definitely stay again.

"3 Nights in Bourges"
Leonard C, 29 Octobre 2015

Visited Bourges for business. I would recommend that the Angleterre is well worth considering for business or pleasure. it is a pleasant hotel conveniently located in the town centre within easy reach of a multitude of restaurants to try out for your evening meal.

"We will use this Hotel again"
G12Rose, 28 Septembre 2015

We came upon this Hotel quite by accident whilst travelling through France. We were delighted with the Hotel - it was clean, comfortable and in a lovely spot. The medieval town of Bourges is an interesting place steeped in history and the Hotel staff were able to provide useful information and recommendations. The Hotel provides a varied breakfast- we found everything we wanted- and an undercover car park is available at a small cost. We know we will return to Bourges and will use this Hotel again.

"outstanding hotel"
here2007, 25 Septembre 2015

An outstanding hotel in a good location to explore the town. Spotlessly clean, well equipped bedroom with comfortable queen bed. free WiFi, TV, Minibar. Lift. Excellent breakfast. Used Garage at €1.50 per night.

"Very comfortable hotel in a wonderful location"
FredH186275, 17 Septembre 2015

We were visiting Bourges for just 2 nights in order to see its wonderful cathedral and the splendid Palais Jacques Coeur. The Hotel is 2 minutes at most from the latter and about 10 minutes from the former, and as a bonus we had a great view of the cathedral from our bedroom over the roofs. Our room and bathroom were of reasonable size, nicely decorated, very comfortable, and, despite the fact that we overlooked the street, quiet. The breakfasts were good and taken in a room which endearingly for East Sussexians like us was decorated with pictures of Alfriston Church, Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters! Whilst having no restaurant itself the hotel is within seconds of a good one l'Amphytryon, and a few minutes of many others. We were able to leave our car in the hotel's garage for 12.50 euros per day which seemed very reasonable to those of us used to Brighton parking charges. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Does attract some of the louder type of posh English visitors but it can hardly be blamed for that. Bourges is beautiful and this lovely hotel is right in its centre.

"Gorgeous and elegant hotel right in the centre of medieval Bourges - magical!"
Hev185, 16 Septembre 2015

This is a gorgeous elegant hotel right in the centre of medieval Bourges. We only stayed for one night on the way down to the south of France. We had a comfortable room looking out over the front of the hotel. Can't fault the amenities, the services, the breakfast or the cleanliness of the hotel and the helpfulness of the staff. We appreciated the efficient air conditioning in the room on a hot August night, and the secure car parking space not too far away. We ate a very acceptable meal in a nearby restaurant and strolled up to the cathedral and gardens and caught the light show at Jacques Coeur Palace - it was a magical stay and we were sorry to leave. We'd definitely come back again - this *has* to be the hotel of choice in Bourges.

"Excellent service in classically French hotel"
644helenaw, 15 Septembre 2015

This is just the perfect hotel. Lovely, friendly staff, a beautiful setting and delicious breakfast. We have stayed there twice and have been more and more impressed with it. Literally every member of staff we have come across has been utterly charming and helpful. It is good value too considering its location and the stunning facade. A perfect place to break the journey down south. Makes the drive worthwhile.

"Nice Location"
Robert V, 08 Septembre 2015

This is a nice little hotel and about as close as you can get to everything important in Bourges. It is literally steps from the Palais Jacques Couer and a quick walk to the Medieval Quarter and the Cathedral of St. Etienne. The staff was efficient and the breakfast layout was adequate but nothing special. The room seemed a little dated but were clean and comfortable. Our bathroom had been updated to more modern fixtures with plenty of room. Would not hesitate to stay here again the next time we are in Bourges.

"Magical hotel in a magical city!"
Nicholas D, 06 Septembre 2015

An overnight stay en route to our holiday destination - and what a pleasant surprise this hotel turned out to be! Clean, comfortable and very welcoming, with all the amenities one could reasonably expect, including a private secure garage on site. It's easy to imagine that a Best Western hotel in one town may be the same as any other but that's not the case here - it's very original and full of character, with plenty of historical information and features on display. Bourges is a magical city with a wonderful cathedral, centre and fabulous illuminations. It's well worth a visit and the Hotel d'Angleterre is very well placed within the old town in easy walking distance of the city's many attractions.

"Great location"
Pete Z, 05 Septembre 2015

Stayed here last evening. The hotel was neat and clean and offered a good night sleep. The breakfast was just ok. Nothing hot. Rooms are plain but functional. The bathroom was newly renovated and was small but nice.

"Ideal base for exploring Bourges"
falads, 01 Septembre 2015

This hotel is perfectly placed, just around the corner from the Palais Jacques Coeur and within walking distance of the many delights of Bourges: historic sites and buildings, gardens, museums, galleries and of course restaurants. The welcome and helpfulness of the staff could not be improved, the room was very comfortable, clean and well equipped. At the end of our 6-day stay we were sorry to leave.

"Excellent hotel with great service and parking!"
Dayle d, 30 Août 2015

Yes you pay extra for the parking but it's worth it. The room - a superior double - was large well appointed. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and they speak English. The breakfast was one of the best we've had while in France. Loved Bourges!

"comfort rooms and great location in a historic town - worth spending a couple of days"
BelgiumPh, 13 Août 2015

Very friendly staff - real french hospitality. This is thé hotel to stay when you explore this nice historic town : in the middle of Bourges and surrounded by the best restaurants, spacious rooms - comfortable bed&bathroom, very quiet to sleep, parking available ....

"A room with a view!"
TexasAMC3, 02 Août 2015

Wonderful hotel in a great location. Our room was spacious with a wonderful street view, in the morning we could hear the chimes coming from the Cathedral. Plenty of storage, comfy bed and great a/c! Great bathroom with a large counter and fully closing shower door, yay! Breakfast was very generous. We stayed here only one night, unfortunately. We have never stayed at a BW in the States but this is our second or third BW stay in Europe. If only they were this nice in the States!

"NIce old hotel in a good location"
Richard M, 31 Juillet 2015

For such an older property, this place was really nice. The rooms are updated and have comfortable bed and a very nice, modern bathroom. The area is full of cobblestone streets and small shops, restaurants and bars. Breakfast room was very nice.

"I would stay here again"
Mary G, 27 Juillet 2015

This hotel met all our expectations. It was clean, with spacious rooms and great bathrooms! The staff went out of their way to be helpful. The internet is a little frustrating but eventually worked with front desk assistance!

"The BEST Hotel here western or otherwise"
ialine, 24 Juillet 2015

Excellent Location Helpful desk, clean renovated modern bathroom and excellent bed. This hotel "gets it" right! Coffee maker, one bottle of complimentary water, refrigerator, extra pillows blanket ( not that we needed it) air conditioner and a soundless quiet room.

"Nice"
Jeri L, 18 Juin 2015

This is a wonderful hotel, very friendly. All employees speak English and are willing to help with translations. Nice rooms and European style breakfast choices. There are prepared hard-boiled eggs, or you can boil additional fresh eggs to your specifications.

"Great stay"
Vivienne E, 12 Août 2014

Great stay ,great staff, great hotel . Wonderful welcome and staff were helpful with car parking. Pity all the shops and most restaurants were closed in Bourges on sunday but dancing in the park was excellent!

"A wonderful, caring staff"
Chad H, 24 Juillet 2014

The entire team at d'Angleterre takes great care in making everyone feel welcome and are flexible in meeting the needs of each individual. The location is wonderful with many excellent restaurants within walking distance.

"Standards maintained"
Brian D, 07 Juin 2014

When you book a Best Western Hotel you know what you're going to get - a good standard at a reasonable price. The Hotel D'Angleterre in Bourges was no exception. Clean, modern and a very helpful and friendly staff. Full marks!

"Very nice stay"
Doooz, 16 Janvier 2014

My stay was perfect. The hotel is very well situated at the heart of the medieval city centre, in a quiet street. The staff is lovely. The room, though not big, was very clean and the bed was comfortable. I particularly enjoyed the complimentary kettle with tea and coffee in the room. Breakfast is good. I definitely recommend this hotel. Just be careful when you, there are work in progress (but they do not begin before 9) in one side of the hotel. the other side is perfectly calm.
