"Warning - Hotel takes a $300 hold on each room"

I stayed here last night with my daughter. I thought it was a nice enough property and gave it a try. I didn't have any issue with the property and the breakfast was fine. Today, I found a $400 charge to my account. ($100 for room and the remainder was a security deposit. I proceeded to call the hotel and the gentleman said that the hotel typically holds a $300 deposit after a stay and thought the woman who checked me in the night before would have told me. I explained she didn't tell me and if I knew the hotel would take a temporary $300 fee then I would not have stayed there. A $300 holding fee until it is placed in my account 5 days later. I have never in my life been assessed such a fee upon staying at a hotel. In any event, I wouldn't recommend this place. The gentleman understood the hardship and tried to see how I could get the sooner than 5 days. He referred me to my bank and my bank said there was nothing they could do to get the money sooner. Bad business practices.

"Disappointing "

We stopped at this hotel on our way to Ocean City. The only room they had available for the whole night was a king size room, for 150.00. We arrived around 1 am and were only staying for a few hours to sleep, and then hit the road. The toilet was barely attached to the floor. It completely wobbled. It was attempted with a fix of cheap caulking around the base, but it barely held on. There was obvious water damage around the base and seal of the toilet. There were no curtains at all to block out sunlight or traffic lighting from coming in the windows--only sheer covers. The shower curtain did not have a liner in it, and it was cloth, so the water from the shower leaked all out of the tub, all into the bathroom floor, and into the main hall area. Do not stay here. For this price, I expected so much better

"Satisfactory hotel"

We were looking forward to a few days away in a different area than where we have been before. There really is not much to do in this area. Maybe shop a local mall and a few restaurants like chilies, Texas roadhouse and I think there is a subway. If you have a pet make sure you understand they charge per day even if you don't have housekeeping come in. The front desk staff were very nice and the hotel itself was decent.Just not the right area for us We checked in at 3.30 Checked out Early next morning Rate was a little high at 144.00 for one night

We were coming from the north to the south and needed a stopping point and figured this area was as good as any. Boom, a Best Western to the rescue. The room was spacious and the clerk super friendly. The breakfast was a hot breakfast and was free. Great coffee and eggs, bacon, muffins, and juice. I highly recommend choosing this place if you are near the area.

"One night stop during road trip"

Very nice hotel. We were travelling with 2 kids, 11 and 2. We got a room with a closed off living room which is a must as the kids have their own space and own tv. Comfortable, large room. Pool area was nice and warm water, nice big hot tub. Would stay here again if we ever cross this area again in our travels.

We attended a wedding in the area. As home was a couple hours away I decided to sleep over. Reservations last minute were no problem. Cost was reasonable. Breakfast on site was fabulous ammenity. Drive home was relaxing because i was not tired and it was not dark. Overall Great Choice!

"Out East Trip"

Very poor quality Best Western. Staff was friendly. We stayed on our way from DC to NY. Breakfast was AWFUL. Worst breakfast we have had. My husband wanted to use the fitness center, and he was frustrated. All the equipment was broken and a few were in pieces.

I stayed here as a last minute thing, and this place exceeded my expectations. I have stayed in best westerns before and the were just ok. This place was GREAT. The outdoor setup was nice.. The indoor pool was great.. And the little pizza shop right across the way was also a plus!!! Next time my daughter plays in Newark we are sure to book this hotel!!!

The hotel was clean, with comfortable room. The staff was friendly and helpful. I was given a complimentary upgrade to a suite, and the room was very spacious.I would not hesitate to stay here again. The only negative for me was that the hotel wasn't as close to my family as I would have liked.

"Not to par with the franchise's standard!"

The place is not well maintained, actually very poorly cared for. The room's carpet is stained and dirty, the AC unit has a broken lid, the tv has a cable hanging on the side. Overall there is no attention to details at this facility what so ever. Inside the elevator there is a cut-off label on the door, the hallway (3rd floor is what I saw) smells bad from humidity perhaps, the walls have scratched paint on many places. On top of it all the clerk that checked me in was very indifferent to any of my questions or requests. His customer service level was average at best. The entire experience has not been to par with the franchise's standard. I really wish I had chosen another property from the many options we had :(

Beware this hotel has bed bugs. Stayed there over the weekend and I have bed bug bites all over!!!! I should have known better by the smell when you walk in the door. My reservation was paid in advance so I went ahead and stayed against my better judgement. I learned a BIG lesson here... Don't do it, paid reservation or not. It's not worth saving a few bucks, ya know.

"Not a favorite"

Stayed with our soccer team for the weekend. The hotel is near a highway and busy divided main road, so there is road noise. Rooms were renovated, but hallways appeared dark and overlooked. My room had a smoke smell, even though the hotel had a non-smoking policy. I let them know, and they made a note so I was not charged, however bot so much apologies or any partial refund. Also the bed covers such as blankets were disgusting, hospitals have better bedding. Pillows were small and disastrous. Bedding was not good, period. Now the worst, people in our group having not closed their door at night woke up in the middle of the night with a man going through their stuff. When hotels staff was notified they said there is nothing they could do, even though other people have encountered this person in the hallways. Police was not notified, or cameras checked. At least we left with that story. The staff here was definitely not welcoming or showed any appreciation at check out. Stay away from this place.

We are 100% smoke free and we try our best to remain as such. We have never experienced such an issue noted above and as the cameras were reviewed we were unable to find anything pertaining to this claim, also the involved guest did not want the police called when offered by the front desk agent.

Nice. large clean rooms and a hot breakfast too. Very convenient to the highway, the local shopping mall is huge. A Mexican restaurant just the other side of the overpass is a family run joy, with great autherntic food. I was really impressed and will make this my area-destination in the future.

"Good hotel, Horrible pool"

We stayed there the past weekend for the race at Dover Speedway. the hotel was clean, the front desk was good (I had partiers in the room next door and they dealt with it immediately) and the rooms were clean. the wi-fi was excellent. The location was good as well. Plenty of places to eat nearby. The two downfalls were the breakfast in the morning (which wasn't all that bad to be honest). It had a decent selection but the eggs were some sort of powdered eggs or something. I couldn't eat them. The pool. I stayed here because of the indoor pool for my son. We got there Saturday and went directly to the pool. The area had a strong smell of clorine and after an hr we had to get out. Monday before leaving I promised my son we could go swimming. Literally three minutes after walking into the pool area we had to leave because our eyes were burning and tearing so bad we couldn't see. The clorine in the air was absolutely horrible. It had to be dangerous to breathe it for our eyes to burn so bad. It was a huge dissapointment.

Off the freeway but worth the short drive. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Safe area. Clean. Breakfast was great- full breakfast with great choices of yogurt! Staff were friendly and accommodating. Would recommend this hotel to a friend.

"Could have been great... with a quiet heater"

Overall everything went fine for us except the heater noise was incredibly loud. We woke up a few times during the night because of it. In order to prevent it from triggering too often we ended up lowering the room temperature, and thus had a pretty cold uncomfortable night. During check out I mentioned it to the receptionist, who apologized for the inconvenience but on a tone that really meant "I don't care and I'm not going to do anything about it".

I know this isn't a 5 Star hotel but there are certain things that shouldn't be too much to ask. The free breakfast is a nice perk but the breakfast area doesn't get cleaned at all during breakfast. There were trash cans over flowing and dirty and sticks tables everywhere. You lose you appetite when you walk in. I tried to take my kids to the pool on Friday afternoon but it was closed for maintenance and they didn't know when it would open again. Got the kids dressed and walked by 15 min later and suddenly it was open again. Lastly we rolled in our last night at 10pm on our last night from a wedding. Carried 2 sleeping kids up to room only to find our key cards didn't work even though they did a few hours before. As I said lots of small annoying things that add up after a while

"Very disappointing"

Check-in person pleasant but not accommodating. There were problems that were addressed with front staff right away, and I was just yess'd, but no action was taken to correct the problems. Room stale smell from smoke (non smoking room) No soap/conditioner in the dispensers, and dirty overcrowded pool. Only good thing was the breakfast (which we had to go extremely early to get).

"Worst Western Minus"

We were calling this place the Worst Western Minus during our stay for two days last weekend. I had originally booked this hotel a couple weeks ago because of its proximity of where we needed to be for a trade show. My son is 4 years old, and so i wanted an indoor pool, and included breakfast. Well, upon arriving, we noticed the trash all over the parking lot, and a few cars with people just sitting hanging out (we later noticed -smelled, really- that they were smoking pot in their cars in the lot. not sure if they were hotel guests or if that's the local hang out spot to do that sort of thing). Checking in was fine, the young man at the desk was pleasant. The room was clean. The third floor hallway had all sorts of smells going on, the most potent being the smell of marijuana. there was a big sign at the front desk reading NO PARTIES, but clearly no one pays attention. There were people up all night. ALL night, running up and down the hall, laughing and yelling. If you don't mind being woken up a few times a night, then you'd enjoy this place. The side door closest to the parking lot has a swiper where you can get in using your room key, however, it doesn't work, and there's a sign that says to enter through the front door, maybe because there's some shady people hanging out in the parking lot? Either way, the smokers that come out that side door stick a pizza box in the door to keep it propped open, so really, there's no security, and all kinds of characters could be coming into the hotel at any time. Those above-mentioned smokers come down, leave the pizza box in the door, and then walk off, so who knows if they're even hotel guests themselves. The breakfast has a pretty decent variety: cereals, bagels, muffins, waffles, yogurt, coffee/juice. I did get turned off after finding a LONG BLACK hair in my Frosted Flakes, but whatever. My biggest problem/complaint with this hotel is the pool. Please keep in mind, my biggest factor in deciding on this particular hotel was the indoor pool, since I have a 4 year old who loves to play in the pool. THIS POOL AREA WAS DISGUSTING. The pool and hot tub both were REPULSIVE. It was Sunday night, and seemed as if the pool and hot tub were not cleaned in over a week. There were clumps of hair floating in the pool, the water had a creepy oily film on it, and the hot tub was foamy and green. I made my boyfriend go get the pool skimmer to at least get the big chunks of hair out; the pool's floor even looked murky by the stair area to enter the pool. This place needs to hire a pool guy, cuz it was just wrong. Honestly I don't know why this is even a Best Western Plus. I've stayed in Best Western Pluses, and I feel that there are standards, and there is a reputation to uphold. I feel almost "let down" by the Best Western brand, and am not really interested in staying at any Best Western Pluses in the future, based on the poor quality of this one. Like I mentioned, "Worst Western Minus".

This time I was traveling to Delaware and I had no idea of the layout of the area and hotels nearby. I found a Best Western nearby my destination. This hotel was a delightful surprise and surpassed my expectations. I recommend this hotel without reservation.

"Weekend Mayham - Won't Be Back"

The good: • One of a very few nationally known hotels in Bear, DE • Staff was extremely friendly and welcoming • Appears to have been recently renovated • Rooms have a microwave and mini fridge with fresh coffee and fruit in the lobby • Complimentary hot breakfast was clean, fresh, and had a decent variety The bad: • Extremely strong odor of marijuana emanating within the halls and corridors. • Loud occupants throughout the hotel...even at 11pm. Calls to the front desk to voice concern went unanswered • Obvious intoxicated man (non-occupant??) was allowed to help himself to coffee and spark vulgar conversation with guests in the lobby. • Mattress was old and sagging. This, combined with the stench of marijuana, and the loud kids/music made it extremely difficult to get a good nights rest.

"Not what we expected"

We needed a hotel close to Christiana hospital because I was having surgery and was staying overnight. I wanted my husband to be able to rest and most of the other hotels in the area were $200 plus. The weather was turning icy and I needed to be at the hospital @6:30 in the morning so we decided to go up the night before because we live over an hour away. We have stayed in many Best Western Plus hotels all around the country and they were all really pleasant so that in itself was a selling point. We arrived around 6:30 in the evening and the temperatures were right at 31-32 degrees. We were looking for a parking spot and turned the corner only doing at best 5 mph and starting sliding. There had been a big snow the week before so fortunately we slid into a big snow bank. We got traction again and creeped to a parking spot. Walking across the parking area was very slippery. We thought we would get to the sidewalks and they would be treated but they were not. Nothing outside had been treated. The sidewalks were very slick. When we checked in we told the desk clerk and he said he would have to put some ice melt down. When the desk clerk checked us in he emphasized this hotel being a smoke free hotel throughout the entire property. He gave us our room and we proceeded. As soon as we opened the door it was such a strong smell of cigarette smoke. We called the front desk and the clerk was very helpful. He apologized and said he would move us to a different room. I heard him in the hallway and he was checking multiple rooms and they all smelled. He finally found us a room and we moved into it. The beds were incredibly uncomfortable. They felt like they were very old. We had two doubles so that made it acceptable and doable for my husband and I to sleep more comfortablely. The bathroom was very cold. We had the heat up but it was so cold it took a while to heat up after turning the hot water on. I would not ever stay here again and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

"STAY AWAY!!"

Robert Allen, General Manager, did not stand by his employees word to comp both nights of our stay, so we left after the first night to find a clean hotel. In short this Best Western had roaches, waxy brown stains on bedding, rust on toilet paper holder, weed smoke, dust, horrible odors and a toilet that wouldn't flush. I would have taken more pics if I knew things would turn out the way they did. We were moved from the 1st floor to the 2nd floor, back to the first floor & ended up on the third floor (all in one night). 6 hours after we arrived, all four of us piled into one bed, b/c the pullout couch linens were dirty (after my elderly mother pulled the bed portion out). I could type so much more, but instead I'll just encourage any & everyone that considers this hotel to steer clear. It was so very bad that this is my first time ever writing a review. I travel extensively & this hotel was by far the worse. Even the front desk person said when it comes to customer service we had the worse experience ever! He helped the best he could only to have a manager that was unapologetic and couldn't care less about our stay. If the front desk employee says that your two night stay would be compensated after having to endure so much, then that should be honored. The conversation was had with the general manager & the notes were in their computer system. Front desk guy refused to check me in before 3. He didn't even look to see if rooms were available. I stay in hotels 20 weeks a year for business and have never had someone, blatantly, refuse to check me in with looking at availability.

"Worst Hotel experience ever!"

We decided to give this BWPlus a try because of the amazing experience we had at one in Thornburg VA. We one was awful. It was dirty (carpet, smelly pillows) construction over our head all night long.

Was looking for a clean quiet safe place that didn't cost more than $100. This place was perfect. Front Desk was terrific and room was very clean and quiet. Felt safe also. I really liked the clean bathroom and the pillows.

"Not Worthy of a Best Western Plus"

After an unpleasant stay at the BW Concordville Inn last winter, we tried this property. The front desk was the best part of the stay. The room had a thin blanket (not the usual comforter that BW Plus hotels supply) and we had to crank the heat up to an uncomfortable level to keep warm. We left a note for housekeeping to supply us with more blankets and to supply us with another soap bar the first day. The note was thrown out and our request ignored. The second day, housekeeping skipped us altogether--bed was unmade, dirty towels were still on the floor, and towels were not refilled. This property seems to be a popular spot as the hotel was full each of the 3 days we were there. But it seems that BW properties in the Delaware area are sadly lacking when we compare them to the properties in CA where we had stayed for over 20 years.We will have to choose some other hotel chain if we visit Delaware again.

"HORRIBLE STAY"

Find somewhere else to stay! Came down for a soccer tourney. The only thing I can say is the room was clean. That's it. They have 5 handicap parking spaces at the hotel and they were all being used by guests that were NOT HANDICAP. I have a handicap tag and had to park clear in the bag of the hotel. I pointed this out to the front desk personnel on several occasions throughout the weekend but they did nothing to change this! THEY ARE NOT HANDICAP FRIENDLY!!!! Noise. If you don't have a problem with not sleeping then stay here. Paper thin walls. The people in the room beside us had no respect for others in the hotel. Sunday morning at 2am when they returned to their room screaming, laughing, and partying with no regard to others guests it was like they were standing right next to our bed. When I tried to call the front desk I realized the phone in our room was broken. Tried calling the front desk 4 times from my cell phone before I finally got mad enough to get dressed and go downstairs to complain. To bad their was NOT A SINGLE EMPLOYEE TO BE FOUND. I was their for almost 15 minutes at the desk yelling for anyone and couldn't find anyone! So I went back to my room to continue to listen to the people beside us party till after 3am. I sent an email at 2:30am to the general email of the hotel to explain everything that happened and also spoke to the lady at check out but as I write this review at 12:42pm, the manager has yet to acknowledge my email.

Who doesn't love a clean hotel room? That is how I rate my room if it doesn't appear clean and I can't stay. This room looked and smelled clean. It is so nice having breakfast available at convenient hours and enough for everyone. They did not run out of breakfast food. Yes, I have been at hotels that do run out! Not here, eat away.

This was a last minute decision to stay. It was convenient to the highway, clean and comfortable. Quiet setting. Lots to choose around area for dinner. The Best Western Plus has lived up to my expectations and I would put this location near the top of the list.

I have stayed here before when in the area on business. The room was clean. The air filters for the a/c and heat were very clean also. The price was very reasonable. The General Manager, Robert took good care of me. There was a minor issue that could have been fixed after I left but he got on it immediately. I really appreciated it. I will stay again in the future.

"WiFi beware"

The WiFi wouldn't connect my laptop. I had to call the 3rd party to do a reset, and then my laptop could connect. So they fixed the problem, but I'm not super confident in the reliability of the WiFi for work purposes, daytime or at night, although I only stayed 4 nights and didn't retry the connectivity.

This is one the best Best Western Hotels we have ever stayed at. Its very clean and the staff go out of their way to satisfy you. The breakfast was very good and the breakfast lady did a great job keeping the food fresh and keeping the area clean.

I was in for 2 night for some 0% sales tax shopping in DE, good location if you want to go to Christiana Mall and apr. 1 hr drive from Rehoboth Beach Tangers Outlet. Room was OK hat some sticky gum or ? on left side of bed, but clean and up to date, no noise from Pulaski Hwy, Texas Roadhouse just across the hwy liquor store apr. 1 mile away

"NEEDS TO BE CLEANED"

Unfortunately I am writing a review that is not positive. The property was in poor shape. The Carpet is absolutely filthy through out. Th rooms are OK and the breakfast was fine. As a group when we walked in we were not sure if this was a place we felt good about staying in. Unfortunately rooms elsewhere were limited. The smell of CHERRY scent through out was an attempt to hide a musty smell. We are not going to be staying at a BW property in the future we will stay at our usual hotel chain. as far as Value if a room was available near the airport we would have stayed there for a few dollars more.

Good hotel. Location is convenient to Dover Downs for NASCAR. Staff is very friendly and helpful Have stayed here for the last 7 years while attending the NASCAR race at Dover. The breakfast is good. Amenities such as pool and jacuzzi are a oplus also. Easy on easy off of highway.

This is the 3rd year we have stayed at this hotel. Rooms are clean staff is polite and helpful. Pool is NICE, whirlpool is wonderful after a long drive and city traffic. Texas Roadhouse is across the four lane and offers a discount when you show your room key. But if you are to tired to drive over and back try Roma's Pizza across the parking lot.

"Much less than a "plus""

My wife and I were at this hotel from 7-9 September. We booked this hotel in the past before it became a "plus" and were very disappointed with the cleanliness and service this trip. The first night we had to have the local manager get the commode cleaned on the outside. The second night we had to get the manager to give us towels as room service was not accomplished. When I called the hotel manager, he attempted to put the problems off onto to me because I hadn't placed the sign on the door. When I explained that we hadn't had to do that on the first night, he didn't have an answer. I understand that he probably has to deal with many complaints because of poor staff work but that should not be my problem and my wife and I should not expect poor service from a "plus" BW. We had previously stayed at this hotel when it was not a "plus" and were pleased with it. However, we will not stay again due to the service and the manager's unprofessional manner. We have stayed at two other BW hotels on our trip this month and they were all outstanding and they were not BW Plus'.

Bad first impression at check in with the female counter staff, but overall a really great hotel. Amenities were good quality. Pool and hot tub both are great. I live in the area so I can also say it's close to places like Walgreens, the grocery store and many restaurants. Breakfast could have used an attendant, but otherwise fully functional. Not many smiling faces around the building, but a lot of lookers. If you're going to peep, just say hi, you know?

"Acceptable Good Price"

Perfect for this trip's needs, but not something I'd choose for a planned stop. We chose this location due to its proximity to an impromptu stop and its low price. We were happy with the service and the cleanliness of the room, as well as having a refrigerator available to us. The halls were musty smelling, there were no drapes (making it difficult to sleep since the parking lot light was shining in our window), and the smoke detector went off 4 times before determining the cause of someone smoking in the building (not their fault, obviously).

"Perfect stay"

This Hotel gets five stars in its class. We needed a hotel conveniently located to roads that were major and also local routes. We needed to use the Camp Bow Wow in Newark to provide day care to our Beagle, and meet family. This hotel is right off Route 1 and very near 95. It was very clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Bath facilities were fine and a good TV with a large choice of stations. Parking lot was nice and since we brought our dog we were happy to find a very adequate walking area. A plus also was the the Texas Road House restaurant directly across the highway and a Pizza restaurant across the parking lot. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and Rebecca was especially helpful during the (complimentary) breakfast. If we need a stay in this area in the future, we will definitely be back.

Staff was great! Any issue I came to them with was resolved immediately. Rooms are a little outdated but still pretty comfortable. The outside area at night is not very safe. All in all the experience was Good.

While looking for an overnight on our trip to New York I checked many, many hotels along the Route we would take from which was along the Eastern Shore using the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. The Best Western in Smyrna looked reasonable but we picked the Best Western in Bear Just because it was another 40 minutes or so North and suited our scheduling. The price at this hotel was so much more reasonable than prices at other hotels (all brands)in August of 2017. So much so that I read through quite a few reviews before booking because sometimes price is not the only consideration! This hotel met or exceeded our expectations in every aspect. Clean comfortable accommodations, great shower, Exceptionally courteous and helpful staff. The breakfast was very typical but certainly more than adequate to get two adults and two kids on the road in very good shape. I would recommend this place unconditionally and will stay there myself again in a heartbeat. My grandchildren used the fitness room and the pool which were both safe, clean, and perfectly adequate and enjoyable.

This hotel was great in all respects. It only lacked a security camera in the parking lot(s). I drove my classic car there and would have felt more at ease. Everything else was great. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

"Okay hotel for overnight stay"

We checked in to this hotel at 10:30 at night on our way to the beach from up north. The clerk was friendly if a bit distractible. There was a strange unpleasant odor in the hallway but it was vague. I was disappointed when we entered the room. It was advertised as having 2 queen beds. I specifically look for queens when I stay somewhere because fulls are really tight for 2 adults. Well they were full not queen. In addition the air conditioner was not working. It was really warm in the room which makes sleeping uncomfortable. Breakfast was provided complimentary and was decent although my son's fruit loops were stale. We would choose a different hotel in the area if we came back this way.

"Not a good weekend"

We arrived on a Thursday evening and checked in. The front desk staff are very courteous and friendly. We went to our room and found it to be clean and a nice size. When we awoke in the morning and went to shower, we discovered there was no shower curtain. The front desk apologized and said they would advise the cleaning staff to correct the problem. When we returned later in the evening, the bed covers had been pulled back up, there was now a shower curtain, trash was left sitting on the desk and there were no towels nor hand soap. Again, I visited the front desk and encountered the same clerk as upon check-in. He also apologized and provided fresh towels and hand soap. The following morning, we had breakfast and had intended on using the pool. A large part of the reason we selected this hotel was due to the indoor pool because we were travelling with our granddaughter. We checked out the pool and were very frustrated. The pool water was green and so cloudy, the bottom of the pool was not visible from either the shallow or deep end. I was not going to allow a child to swim in that disgusting water. When we returned to the hotel later that evening, our bed sheets again were just pulled up on the bed. This time there were no cups, there was no soap or shampoo in the shower, and, again, trash was left sitting on the desk. Another trip to the desk and the same clerk again apologized and said he would see about adjusting our bill due to the numerous problems we encountered. We checked out the next morning and received no adjustments.

The three grandchildren (11, 9, 4) loved the breakfast and the pool! This was a grandparents weekend with sightseeing during the day, and the pool at night. We were within 10 miles of everything we wanted to see, so the location was excellent. I would stay here again!

Ok so you think Best Western and you don't automatically think a "5 star" hotel BUT this hotel deserves it. Not because it's super fancy or anything but it is VERY VERY clean, the staff are awesome, the layout of the rooms are nice, beds are comfortable and it's in a convenient location. Stayed here for a family reunion in Bear, DE. Hotel was 5 minutes from the family reunion. Check in was simple. Young man at the front desk was very proficient and professional. Free breakfast is also included. Didn't eat but it smelled really good! All in all, a great stay. Will always stay at this hotel when in that part of DE. Kudos to housekeeping and the manager of this hotel. You guys/gals are doing a fantastic job.

Traveled with our 25 lb cockapoo for the first time. This was our first experience with a pet friendly hotel. This hotel is PERFECT for traveling with a pet. GREAT staff (they explained much to me), quiet rooms and the grassy area outside of the hotel was PERFECT for our doggie. She could roam the large area without being close to heavy, noisy traffic - relaxing for her after a long day cooped up in a car and experiencing tiny rest areas. I HIGHLY recommend this specific hotel for folks who travel with their fur babies.

"Smelly"

The room was smelly & damp. The service was nice with early check in but the place need an upgrade -BAD. There were holes in the wall & when you woke up you just felt wet. It was gross. That is how damp it was.

"Older propery trying to improve"

Our room was clean but it had that slight odor of "old" and "mildew". We did notice that the two rooms next to ours were under renovation. Perhaps this will place will be better as it was in a very good location for us. The pool could have been fabulous but they have definite problems with the temperature control in the room. We had stayed at a Best Western with a pool room exactly like this one out in Oregon and it was terrific. It is a huge room with high, high, gorgeous cedar ceilings. Unfortunately it was so extremely hot in the room that even a swim in the cool pool wouldn't allow you to stay in the room very long. The front desk staff was friendly and the breakfast was pretty good however you wouldn't get any smiles or hellos from the breakfast lady guarding the items.

"Disappointing Experience"

We are platinum members. There were some problems with our three-night stay at this BWP. We understand this is an older property (but a "Plus" is questionable). First, the good: the front-of-the-house staff were friendly, courteous and proficient overall (with one exception, below). But here's the bad (and odd): After our first night, housekeeping didn't leave us any fresh towels, etc. So I got some from the front desk. After the second night, as we passed by the front desk for our day plans, we mentioned to the clerks (two women) that our room was ready for housekeeping. But our room received NO HOUSEKEEPING AT ALL. None. I mentioned it to the desk clerk in the evening, and he was very apologetic, promising to inform management. At our checkout the next morning, I again mentioned the problem to the front desk (one of the two women we saw the previous morning). This time, the desk clerk was defensive and repeatedly tried to make excuses. A very bad act. Her customer relations skills were sorely lacking. And of course we never heard from management about our problems. Additionally, the property badly needs updating. The room should have been cleaner...mold in the bathroom, etc. Clearly there's a problem with housekeeping. Breakfast was mediocre at best. We will not return to this property.

"One of the worst Best Westerns"

Bugs, stains, patched holes in walls and bad breakfast. I have had very good success with Best Western Plus hotels, this one did not measure up. We had bugs on the lamps and bed covers, which kept my wife up all night. There are many stains on the carpets and the bathrooms had patches without paint that had been repaired. Don't be fooled by the nice pictures of lobby on the we site, the lobby is the nicest part of this hotel. The breakfast selection was limited and eggs were very runny. This hotel is more comparable to a cheap Days Inn than a BW Plus.

These guys added $1.50 to my bill with the notation SAFE, what ... they think I just fell off the turnip truck? An otherwise nice hotel, with decent service will to ruin my opinion of them by TRYING TO CHEAT ME OUT OF $1.50. Really?

"First choice hotel"

As a family that travels along the East coast pretty regularly we continue to look for love cations that suit our needs. BW Christiana/Bear is close to the highway, located near some retail but not heavy roadway. Our family likes having an indoor pool to suit our travel needs year-round, and we have stayed here quite a few times because it suits us nicely, is clean, has a beautiful indoor pool area with hot tub and my kids can sneak out early and grab a bowl of cereal or pancakes and sausage at the breakfast arena to tie them over until I can get moving. I would refer this location to others.

Pool was filthy and rooms are very dated. Only one washing machine for whole hotel. Outside of building is very appealing but the rooms show a different story. The pool and hot tub was filthy and cloudy. Not the standard expected from a Best Western.

"A year plus later still a good place to stay but beware"

I stayed here again because of my previous stay but this time when checking in I was told I would be pre-charged $50.00 incidental fee which would come off my bill at a later time. I was very polite but refused to have this charged. I am a card member with BW and I have stayed at this hotel prior. The front desk agreed not to post the fee against my account but it was not the way to start my stay, nor did it help there were small children running around loudly without supervision. That said, the hotel continues to be clean and the breakfast area is very nice. Another reminder you can not turn left out of the hotel (divided hwy).

We stayed here for four nights while we explored Delaware / Philly area. This motel was okay, not great. Safe area and easy to get to. Breakfast included scrambled eggs and bacon or sausage, and the breakfast area was clean and well-stocked.

"Easy access off of highway"

Hotel is typical Best Western. Clean and comfortable room. No complaints. Only drawback is when looking out window, view was of parked trucks and vans but seems like a very safe area. Breakfast items, usual Best Western fare.

"Needs attention"

Needs attention to detail. What I mean by that is that it needs a better cleaning staff supervisor. While I wouldn't call it dirty, a lot of places have bee missed. Yes the major places were ok but the nooks and corners have been missed.It's a shame that a newer hotel is let down by the staff. The hall carpet, especially in the back is disgusting. Did not try the breakfast. Would I stay there again - probably would give it another try.

fell over coffee table as no light worked as I came in - cut and bruised knees, dirty sheets and mirror, sink drain did not work, so washed faith brushed teeth with sink full of stagnate water. I'm done with Best Western and I am a platinum member.

My family and I stayed here while dealing with an unexpected emergency in our home. I have to say that this hotel is not lacking in any area whatsoever. They have gone above and beyond to make sure your stay is comfortable, peaceful, and affordable. If their goal is to leave you with a refreshing, all around great experience fresh on your mind when you checkout, then they have definitely exceeded that goal. The next time you are looking for a hotel, Best Western should be your only choice.

Great location. Friendly Staff; we were greeted, told about the hotel's amenities and hours for the pool and breakfast. Fresh baked cookies took the edge off a long trip. Breakfast was also good. The staff worked hard to keep the area clean and well stocked. I would definitely stay here again.

"Service is bad here"

I stayed for 3 nights and for 2 of those days I had no maid service. After letting the front desk know, the second day I still came back to no maid service. I also let the front desk know the plug in bathroom sink wasn't attached. That was never repaired at all during my stay. The rooms are large but are old and needs remodeling.

This was just a stay over on a road trip comma but I would recommend this hotel to anyone who had to stay in the area. The staff efficient and very personable. The room was very nice, a good size and a great shower. We are going to stay there again on our way home.

We were traveling with 2 children on our way to Virginia each and needed a place to stay on the way. It was late and the traffic was heavy. We saw the Best Western sign on the interstate and hoped it would be suitable, have vacancies, and in the best case, have a pool! We were thrilled to see the pool from the highway as we neared the entrance. The hotel was clean and comfortable and the employees were friendly, polite, and helpful! The kids also slept well after a nice swim in the pool, which was clean and pleasant. I would highly recommend this hotel to families!

"Only This"

An average Best Western in a location with few amenities in close proximity. The Texas Road House is across the street, but do not try to walk across the busy highway as the cars speed. Hubs almost was run over by someone going 90. Do not turn right coming out of hotel to look for gas, you will drive for miles on Pulaski Hwy. Go to light and turn around and go left. The best feature of the hotel is its off the exit of route 1. The real negative is a lack of places to eat, as the TR is packed on weekends. Rooms are worn, but clean. The desk staff is okay, breakfast bar the same, the view from our room was of a RV lot and they were warming them up when we were there, so a little noisy. Try to get a room on the other side.

I have no negative comments except the fan in the bathroom OH and the toilet was like a plane taking off. LOL Everything was extremely comfortable, clean, staff was excellent. Anthony was extremely helpful when I inadvertently booked in the wrong month. Very helpful and when I got to meet him in person at the hotel, he was so nice, glad I got to meet him. Gym was acceptable. Wish we had had time for the pool!

As a Best Western rewards member, I was highly satisfied with the accommodations and service orientation of the general manager and his team. Several quality checks were conducted. Requests were fulfilled with an appropriate sense of urgency and in a professional manner. Although there are opportunities to refresh bathroom shower paint and moulding, the room was more than acceptable. The grounds were manicured and the common areas i.e. business center, breakfast, pool, spa, etc. were clean, organized, and welcoming. I look forward to visiting in the future.

The room was extremely hot when we arrived and the telephone didn't work, so I went to the front desk. The gentleman was extremely busy and alone, but stopped to take my information, yet nothing was done. The microwave also didn't work. This is a convenient stop on our trip twice a year, but we will no longer use this hotel.

My family and I booked several rooms here for a family gathering and we were dissatisfied with the staff immediately. The manager came out and was just as rude. They were were so mean and nasty we tried to take our business elsewhere however the entire area was booked. Needless to say we will never go back there. The rooms were ok and they have an indoor pool. The price was goood too thats why we choose there but they need a new staff and some lessons in customer service.

"More Than I Expected"

Hotel is located on Route 40, easily reached by exiting Route 1 in Bear, Delaware. I found the room to be clean, with nice bedding, lots of pillows, and soft bath towels. Room was well-lit, quiet and included a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. The Wi-Fi was very good; there was a flat screen TV, desk and chair for working, and a small bench for sitting. Room was large, with new carpets and I saw no evidence of disrepair in the room. Hotel has an indoor pool and hot tub (open until 11PM) which I did not use because I stayed here just for an overnight during a long road trip. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Near the hotel are many chain restaurants and a decent pizza place just a few steps from the front door. The hotel offers free warmed chocolate chip cookies in the evening, which I thought was a nice unexpected treat. Scrambled eggs, sausages, waffles, bagels, pastries, yogurt, cereals, juices, coffee, were all available at the complimentary breakfast. Breakfast area had plenty of seating. What I wanted was just a place to "crash" after being on the road all day and facing another all-day drive. This hotel definitely more than met my expectations.

"Poor service from manager"

I had the unfortunate experience the other night at this hotel. After sitting at the desk for 10 minutes, realized a previous guest had left a strong odor of crap/poop on the chair which now was on my clothes. I was so mad and disgusted. The person at the front desk came right up and changed it out with another chair and was helpful. But how does housekeeping not even wipe down these chairs between guests? In the morning I asked to speak to the manager and tell him what happened and see if he wanted to earn my continued business by giving me a free night NEXT time I was working in Bear. I didn't even ask for a refund from the night before, just courtesy going forward. He didn't even bother to call me back, to either apologize for the incident or offer me anything. That says it all... I won't be staying there and you guys should check the room thoroughly if you decide to stay there.

Place was great.! Staff was very friendly and very helpful. They gave us the location for a wonderful park(Glasgow Park) where we could take our dog for long walks. There was also a grassy area behind the hotel where we could take our pet for early morning walks and late night walks. We were given a pet room that was very close to the exit which was great for us. I must say that the room was very clean and had no pet odors. The staff also pointed out simple directions to get to where we wanted. This helped us a lot. Breakfast was great with a selection for everyone. Food was fresh and plentiful. I would stay here again in a heart beat.

"Less than great experience"

First, the evening desk clerk was not dressed properly for the job. Secondly- our room was occupied when we got there. The staff says no, but we heard the dead bolt lock while we were attempting to use our key, which did not work. They also talked to us through the door. Whether THAT chased them away, or the desk clerk warned them to get out, I am not sure, but I have my suspicions. So we were told there was only one other room available. Which was a downgrade from what we reserved. (king suite to a standard queen rm). No AC in this room. Desk clerk calls us to ask about the room. Says he talked to the manager and he will adjust our bill. Nope. Check out time. New desk clerk will not adjust the bill as he knows nothing about it. Will take a note and give it to the manager. I get a response to my review on the BW site. After speaking to the manager, Best Western customer service, we did get some compensation for our botched stay. But I doubt if I will stay at this location again.

We chose this hotel because for its location as our pet had to be taken to the Vet Speciality Hospital. The staff was very accommodating and friendly as we were unsure of our exact plans. After 2 nights in the hospital we were able to all go home rested. The manager Robert could not have nicer or more helpful. They are truly a pet friendly place even if your pet is not with you. The rooms were clean and breakfast was better than we have found at other hotels.

We stay at this hotel approximately twice a year as it is in such a great location for what we need. The staff are always polite and can never do too much for you. I think the rooms could do with some updating but it is always clean and comfortable Good enough breakfast and generally well stocked, good choices although more variety of fresh fruit would be appreciated, never have bananas I have not met Anthony before on reception and initially he came across as a little off hand but I think this was more about shyness . I have to say he is a really nice young man and lovely to chat too and nothing is too much trouble. Once again a good stay

"Nice Hotel"

Clean, nice hotel. Good location between Philadelphia and Washington DC. Excellent hot breakfast buffet. We ate at the Texas Roadhouse across the street and had a delicious dinner. I would stay at this hotel again.

Stayed at this hotel while visiting my daughter at University of Delaware. Clean hotel, excellent staff, good location! Very nice hotel, would definately stay here again! Could use some improvement with their free breakfast!

"Annual NASCAR race stay"

This is an excellent facility. I stay there annually while attending the NASCAR race in Dover. I have been staying here for the past 7 years. An excellent facility.The rooms are clean and spacious. The facility is immaculate. Excellent amenities (ie pool and hot tub). Would recommend this hotel to anyone

The hotel and rooms are always clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful. It is a great location..close to shopping and eating without a lot of traffic. There are grills and pavilions outside as well.

Clean, nice and quiet hotel. Can't say anything bad except the bathroom needs painting, especially around the shower. Paint peeling on wall. Otherwise very nice hotel and breakfast bar. Good selection of breakfast foods.

I located the availability of an Iphone 7 at the Christiana Mall so this was perfect place to stop to pick up the phone and then head to New York. The weird thing is the GPS put me by a grocery store with the hotel being nowhere near the said location - Thanks Siri- I contacted the hotel and the overnight person gave me a landmark to look out for as it's across the Texas Roadhouse Restaurant and only 10 minutes from the mall so this was perfect in all aspects. I left Atlanta relatively late in the evening and arrived to this hotel early in the morning. The overall hotel is relatively nicely laid out and the room is superb. Of all the hotels I have been to, I have never seen a shower with dispensaries containing soap, shampoo, and conditioner which I thought was interesting. The bed provided a well night's rest and provided great sleep quality. The desk and chair is comfortable to use as well as ample storage through the use of the dresser. The bathroom was a bit small but provided the purpose and oddly, it seems like people like to take things from the hotel for their own use when they leave the hotel so they leave a sign saying they will charge you if you remove items from the room such as coffee maker, towels, alarm clock,etc but I guess it only makes sense but again Ive never seen that anywhere else. I got a great room at a great price and no complaints at all. The breakfast was plentiful and the wifi is lightening fast as well as the courtesy computer to print things out was nice to have. As far as getting around, the state highways are nearby and the interstate are minutes away. The mall is about a 5 minute drive and nearby amenities such as gas station and restaurants are nearby within a few minutes drive. The vending machines and ice machine on the first floor work just fine and very friendly and cheerful employees shine!

"Another Great Best Western Hotel"

We were looking to get away for my husband's birthday & thought Bear, DE would be a landing point to visit model train stores. We decided on the Best Western hotel in Bear. What a great choice! When checking in there was some type of computer glitch that wouldn't allow the young woman to check us in [all her phone lines were ringing at the same time]. At this point I told her we would come back when she wasn't so harried. She wouldn't hear of it & asked if I could just give her a couple of minutes to straighten everything out. Within 5 minutes she had the phones tended to & checked us in.She upgraded us to a suite for being so patient. We asked about places to eat & she gave a very nice recommendation for a diner [the food was great]. The next morning, breakfast was fabulous--hot eggs, waffles, etc. If we ever travel to this area again, we will be sure to stay at the Best Western in Bear, DE.

Used hotel as it was close to Delaware Racetrack. Pleasant and easily accessible. The area has changed significantly since our last visit. It seemed easy to get lost on all the highways that are in the area now. Bring GPS or have good maps.

I travel extensively and this Best Western is always clean, comfortable and convenient with friendly and helpful staff. The value is exceptional and the hotel is conveniently located. The hotel is also one of the better Best Western properties that I've stayed in.

We stay here prior to cruising out of Baltimore, because it is close to my two sons and grand kids. The facility is well maintained, clean and very neat. The breakfast has everything one could ask for. The staff is first rate and extremely helpful. We have stayed here several times before, and, absolutely, will again!

Friendly and comfortable...! Very clean and low key for relaxing. I am a bit of a hotel snob, and this was the only place in the area, but i was more than satisfied and would come again! Nice hot tub!

It wasn't a horrible experience but for the money I paid, I was very displeased. Not to mention, I was over charged and since when do hotels charge a $50 deposit on top of the hotel fees and taxes. This as new to me and I stay in rooms all over the country as I am a driver. I wouldn't stay here again.

Nice, clean, quiet hotel. Texas road house with fabulous ribs across the road. Only down fall was I had a cold shower. Was surprised to discover they gave me 50% off after I notified them of the hot water issue. I can't say anything negative when they are willing to make things right.

"No wake-up call!"

I stayed here for one night after driving for many hours. I asked the clerk at the front desk for an 8:00 wake up call. He said, "sure, no problem." The next morning, I opened my eyes and it was 9:30. No wake-up call. I had missed breakfast, and got a later start than I wanted. The girl at the front desk tried to be helpful. This must be a shady area because in the bathroom there is a sign indicating the various prices for things in the room. It read, "due to the popularity of the items in our hotel rooms, we have provided a list of prices." I guess their clientele steals everything- towels, the alarm clock, etc. Other than not getting my wake-up call, the hotel is clean and comfortable.

This hotel is an excellent choice. The staff is extremely friendly and go out of their way to extend excellent customer service. The breakfast that is included with your stay is not like an average breakfast buffet. Items offered include waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, bagels, cereals, muffins, coffee, juice, tea, milk and many other items. I was pleasantly surprised that everything was warm and that they had such a variety of items.

"Nice place, but the internet is definitely a recurring issue"

The shower is GREAT! Nice shower head, strong water pressure, but the carpet is so dirty, turned my socks and feet black after an hour. Otherwise, it's clean and well maintained. However, I have 2 jobs and am always working and the internet here was almost near impossible to connect to or stay connected to. Talked to the front desk twice and then gave up. Bed is super comfy and clean. Quiet hotel. Definitely would like to come back, but only if they address and fix the wifi issues. They also have two gazebo's in the back with a bbq. It's very nice.

This hotel is easily accessible off of I-95 and has a nice variety of things to do in the area. I just wanted to relax for the weekend and could not have selected a better spot. The pool, hot tub, and rooms are very clean. It's quiet but yet kid friendly. You will be pleased with your stay here.

We enjoyed our stay! Wish we could have stayed longer. It was centrally located to wherever we went. The rooms were very clean, showers wonderful, I liked the shampoo dispensers. Also loved the breakfasts, with Bacon AND sausages! Front desk staff always friendly and accommodating. Pool was great.

"Good for one night stopover"

We arrived at 5pm,they were very busy. Check in was quick and efficient. Room was clean, a bit small for 2 queens. Beds were softer than usual. Plenty of pillows. Bathroom was clean, everything worked. Sink is outside the shower and toilet area. Room has a frig and microwave. Free WiFi worked well. Indoor pool with hot tub was nice. Free breakfast was OK , eggs were not fresh. There was a large party going on, on the first floor and we thought it might be noisy later, but we did not hear them on the 3rd floor. This hotel is very near the highway -so there is road noise at night. the weather was extremely hot but the air conditioner worked well.Price for the stay was reasonable.

5 stars for providing bacon at breakfast! Most hotels have undercooked sausage patties or links. Nice clean rooms. My room was a little small for two queen beds but it wasn't bad. Very comfortable overall and a very nice indoor pool with hot tub for relaxing.

"Tournament Stay"

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights/4days, while in town for a Sporting event. We choose this hotel due to closeness of the fields, and the price. Overall, it's a nice hotel for the price. It's quiet, clean, and located in a decent location close to the highways. The rooms are well appointed, however we were given a handicap accessible room,it was great since it was bigger, however the bathroom was a bit challenging for us, as there was no tub and only a handheld shower head. The first night there seemed to be some strange activity going on with some undesirables in the parking lot, however we were not bothered by them, and felt safe the entire stay. The indoor pool was good size, and the hot tub was great.

Stayed here one night with family and had a great stay. Pool and hot tub were clean and not crowded. Breakfast was delicious--eggs, bacon, waffles, cereal, oatmeal, fruit, coffee, juice, yogurt... Room was spacious and clean. Beds were comfortable and pillows fluffy. Room had a fridge and microwave. Toilet was a bit loud when flushed and lighting in hallway a bit dim but otherwise stay was fantastic. Overall, everything was clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

the hotel is located about 15 min away take rt 40 to 896 north very easy,,The breakfast was ok ..standard fare ..eggs sausage breads cereals yogurt.and juices ..overall a nice stay for the price about 100 usd...

The room was nice, but there was a smell of excessive air freshener, like they were trying to cover up a different smell. The bathroom was big with the sink area separate, I like that. There was a refrigerator and a microwave in the room both were very clean and was nice to have. The staff was very friendly and did a great job. There is a pool and a whirlpool both are small, but was okay for us just to relax in after a long drive. The breakfast was not the best the eggs were watery, and it was a lot of carbs. We have stayed at a lot of Best Westerns, this one was a plus we expected a little more. But it was okay to stay at for one night.

Hotel staff is very friendly, and location is right off the highway.. The Hotel itself is in need of some major upgrades. Musty smell in the hallway and room. Room although tidy, was in need of a good cleaning.

We had a great stay here in June 2016. The hotel was quiet, the staff friendly and the room was comfortable and cool. We checked in at 10:30 at night and there were fresh cookies at the front desk. We also needed to use the computer and printer which was free and easy to use. Great customer service at the front desk.

"Good for a quick overnight stay"

Stayed here with family for a LAX tournament. It is close to pretty much anything you may need, Kmart, Dunkin Donuts, Restaurants and pharmacies. Staff was friendly. Non smoking facility. Lobby & halls had a smell/odor, not offensive just stale. Room was very clean. Lighting in bathroom was a bit dim. Rear stairs to the rooms was dirty. Needed to be vacuumed big time. Breakfast included in room rate was cold cereal, bagels, instant oatmeal, yogurt, self serve waffles, coffee, juice. There were hot scrambled eggs and bacon. I could not find bottled water anywhere. I asked the front desk if I could purchase some and they had none. Vending machines only had soda selections. I would stay here again if it were for a quick overnight.

"Better than expected"

Out stay was great from the time we booked to the time we checked out. Some friends had blocked a set of rooms for an event that weekend. We arrived about an hour early, but they had a room available for us. Upon checking in, the staff handed us a gift bag from our host friends. Room was very clean and updated, cold a/c, and free parking. Breakfast the next morning ended at 9:30am so we didn't expect much by the time we went down at 9:15. To our surprise, everything was pretty well stocked and we were able to eat a good breakfast with waffles, scrambled eggs and sausages. The staff was friendly and didn't seem to rush any of the guests that lingered and ate until almost 10 am. We also liked the later than average checkout time of 12noon. Overall it was a great stay, definitely better than we expected from a Best Western. Would recommend this location to others.

"Great Place"

Anthony checked us and he was very pleasant and helpful. He even helped find a corkscrew so I could open a bottle of wine I purchased at a winery. The room was very clean. The bed including the pillows were very comfortable. They had plenty of towels instead of the usual 2 bath towels most places provide. Breakfast was standard which included scrambled eggs and sausage. There are several restaurants close by. I would stay here again.

Me and my friends were here for a night after firefly and they were so nice about us not checking in till 3 am. The room was sooo nice and clean. The shower had soap dispensers with all the shower products you need. Also the bed was super comfy, I would recommend it!

When we come north from Florida to visit our family we always stay at the Best Western Plus in Bear, DE. It is conveniently located to our family in PA and DE. We stay for over 2 weeks so we want a hotel with amenities. Our suite is perfect 2 rooms plus bath; 2 TV's. Excellent service and free breakfast.

This was our first visit to the Bear, DE Best Western Plus but it won't be our last. This hotel property was inviting as soon as you stepped in. The hotel staff went out of their way to make things pleasant and the breakfast buffet offered in the morning was outstanding. Usually when we stay at a hotel offering breakfast items, they consist of cold cereal, danish & some type of fruit. This location offered scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon, pancakes, danish, muffins, fruit, hot & cold cereal, yogurt, etc. This hotel is an excellent value for the money!

The hotel was nice, clean, and modern. The front-desk staff was professional and friendly. The room was nicely equipped and spacious. I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent water-pressure in the shower; a true rarity in hotels! My one criticism was the king bed in my participator room felt "overly used" but the hotel was very quick to apologize, offer me a different room, and me they would look into it which reinforced to me that it truly was a one-off. I would definitely stay here again! PS: The Texas Road House across from the hotel was great, too!

we stayed here for the night as we were going to my son's graduation at the University of Delaware. The rooms were clean the lobby was clean the breakfast that's complimentary was decent, the cookies that they serve at 5:30 p.m. at night is a nice touch, the indoor pool is a bonus though there's too much chlorine in that room, and all in all I'd have to say it was a very nice place with very welcoming staff at the front desk

A really good hotel in an unexpected location. Second visit, there was a Grotto Pizza just down the road (since closed). Grotto is a favorite from my childhood in Pa. People and hotel are the best, helpful staff, nice clean and quite hotel.

"Very nice and clean hotel"

This was my first visit to this Best Western Plus hotel. It was a very nice and clean hotel. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They had a nice entry way sitting area with a TV and fireplace. They provided a complimentary breakfast in the morning which was nice. I would definitely stay there again and I would recommend it to others.

"Really Nice Accommodations"

This hotel is beautiful. Much better than expected. The rooms are nice, the pool is nice, the location is great! The hotel staff is friendly, the free breakfast was good, and the hotel is very neat and clean and pet-friendly too. We visited over the Christmas holidays and the décor was nice and festive too. Outdoor grill and picnic area available for the warmer months. The staff is very helpful, however, they weren't very knowledgeable about area attractions, Washington DC, etc. If you want to go somewhere specific, use the business center to search and print out your own maps. We used the front desk staff instead and were sent on a wild goose chase. We ended up no where near our requested destination. (instead of the capitol buildings in Washington DC, we ended up at a KOA campground about 45 minutes from there).

first time staying at this hotel and surprised how quiet it was in the room. there is no restaurant but there is a free breakfast area and some local food places deliver for free, the hotel included some menus upon checking in and a 10% discount at the roadway restaurant across the street. great areas for walking the dogs and there is a large grassy area in back with pavilions, grills and picnic tables.

This hotel is very nice rented it for a fair price. The staff was very nice and helpful. The room was clean and nicely decorated. There was a small fridge and microwave as well as a coffee maker definitely a plus. I noticed in the back of the hotel there was a grilling area with tables and covered Gazebo(never saw that at a hotel before) I typically try and stay in a hotel that offers breakfast in the morning. I love the make your own Belgium waffle stations( its the little things). I was disappointed with this location because their waffle maker was apparently not making the waffle right as I noticed myself and other guest trying to get it to brown. From the taste of it I don't think they were using Belgium waffle mix and that could have been the problem the taste was way off. The staff tried fixing it but it was not working. Although my waffle experience was not as I expected I would definitely check into this location in the future. It was a very nice place to just get away to get some peace and quiet. (if someone really reads these things please fix the waffle station :-) It would be greatly appreciated....

We have stayed here many times now and always book for the location primarily. There is a good choice at breakfast and a pool and fitness suite on site. The staff are always lovely and it is nice to see some familiar faces such as Britney on duty and that she remembers you from one time to the next. I believe there are no differences in the rooms so no up grade possible. We always have the top floor but I am not sure it truly matters and there is a lift handy so it makes it easy access. Due to the location we will stay again

We like to stay hearer when in the area for ease. We consider it worth visiting. I am not sure what makes it the Plus other than a pool but it is very adequate for what we want. No differences in the rooms we are told

Checked out signed receipt for 118.79 after we got home saw our credit card was also changed 170.29 I called hotel told I had to dispute charge through my bank hotel manager refused to issue a credit.

Great Hotel and Service. My kids loved the pool; my wife and I loved the hot tube/sauna. The people that worked with us were always friendly and helpful. The hotel is perfect for a night's rest - nothing fancy when it comes to view (it is right off a highway, with a trailer parking space behind it); but great stay.

Stayed at this property to avoid staying in New Jersey. Very pleased with the property, about 5 miles off I 95, but there are two good places to eat within walking distance. Very clean property, with three floors, elevator, pool, hot tub. Rooms are spacious and clean, furniture is modern. Very quiet, staff was very pleasant and helpful, breakfast area is very clean and well stocked, very comfortable stay, I would stay again, price was very good. Only issue was Ice machines on the first and third floor only. Property does have washers and dryers for use and that is a nice feature. They had a meeting room.

The staff at this hotel goes above and beyond for a great experience in Delaware. The location is nice for shopping and also for getting on the highways in that area. Rooms were a nice size with very comfortable furnishings. Will definitely go back if we're in the area again.

Overall stay was enjoyable. We we en route to NY on I-95 and need an overnight stay. Room was well laid out , good internet. Breakfast met expectations. Would stay there again. There was a slight odor in room probably due to disinfectant . I think this is a pet friendly place.

The room had a broken door that does not lock ,so when you step out the room you have to go back and check it every five minutes to make sure your belongings are still in the room or you have to take two shifts to go out the room in order to make sure everything is still in there

I love this place for the covered outside area, pool, hot tub and breakfast. Great locale to many restaurants also. This is my place every time I drive south as I have to break up my long ride! The rooms are spacious, clean and nice.

If it wasn't for the carpets, this would have been a decent place to stay; carpets are chemically sprayed on and it adds an irritating smell to the room-watch out for people with respiratory issues. Otherwise, staff was helpful and friendly. Location is not that great, but it's an ok stop on the road with some restaurants within walking distance

Stayed here for a few nights while working in the area. Very nice and spacious rooms. Breakfast was great with real eggs, not the powdered like mix. The staff was all friendly and rooms were quiet. Would deff return and stay here if in the area again.

This is the place to stay if you are participating in an event at the Kirkwood Soccer Complex. It is the closest hotel. More importantly it is a very nice hotel and the service can't be beat. I had a soccer team from the Olympic Develoment Program spend the weekend there early March, they were very accommodating very helpful and friendly.

For the price and customer service we would stay here again. The customer service was fabulous. We asked for more soap and we got it. Our room was clean. There was ample parking available. We could have stayed closer to our family who live in Middletown DE but the price difference was too much. We were happy to be greeted by phone by the hotel staff "Anthony". Simple, sweet and good breakfast included.

We have been staying at the location twice a year for (May and Sept/Oct) the past three years for race weekends. We are always greeted by the entire friendly staff no matter where we are within the hotel. Rooms are clean and comfortable and breakfast is good. Property is well lit and clean. We enjoy staying at the Best Western Plus when we go North for the holidays. All of the staff makes us feel at home when we come and go to visit our family. There is always a hot breakfast. Coffee is available 24 hours per day. The reception area is always neat and very clean. Rooms are very clean and the cleaning staff maintains the room daily. It always looks fresh and tidy.

This was a stressful family trip to visit someone ailing. But the hotel was a great stop for 3 days. Breakfast was typical but fresh and the breakfast area was well maintained and clean. The business area was also well stocked with paper for printing! The front desk was very helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The soap and shampoo dispensers in the shower were great. This had the best water pressure in a hotel that I have ever experienced and the water was always hot! Along with 24 hour coffee. Again a great stay! HOWEVER, 2 negatives - avoid the second floor and odd# rooms in the future - outside light from nearby businesses shining in and the shears do not block it, nor do the "curtains" close and for some reason the halls were dim and not well lit in the evening. Finally, the rate being quoted to incoming off the street was not more then I was paying with advance notice. So call first before you book online.

I was extremely disappointed in the customer service I received from the wait staff for breakfast, it was the managers wife which is even worse, she was very rude and nasty, it was the way that she told us that we had to have shoes on our feet to be in the breakfast area which it was not posted anywhere, I would very much like a refund or at least some kind of refund for the inconvenience of her attitude, I had to go up north from south carolina to see my father who has dementia and not even know who I am or his grand children or great grand children I did not need to be spoken to by her in that way when I have to deal with my father being ill, also since I had to drive so far to see my dad i was trying to get a better rate on my room because I have to plan for his funeral and I did not get any help with that, I was given a phone number to call corporate if I am not satisfied with the outcome of this complaint also may be filing a complaint with the better business bureau

The room was nicely decorated, I like the dispensers in the shower vs the little bottles, but could've used a different scent or brand, too much lemon, lol. The fridge was still dirty. I have been staying at this location for a few weeks as I have also been working at the Delaware city oil refinery. It is a great place I have had my wife and family come out a few times. The restaurants are great that surround the hotel such as Roma's pizza and the Texas Road house we have kids this is a great place for the kids as it has an indoor pool.. It also has a full breakfast other hotels do not have. So far this has been a great experience and the laundry room is one of the areas best...

Had a good stay here. Rooms were clean and staff was accomodating. Breakfast was adequate and the dining room assistant attentive to keeping everything clean and hot. Room did have some maintenance problems though that did not effect our stay. WiFi was problematic the first couple of days then became good the next two. Wish there was a better guide for cable. Beds were wonderful if you like a soft nest. Loved it and slept the best of our whole trip. Too soft if you don't like a soft mattress. Water pressure a little low. Humidity was high in the room as the bathroom had no fan and outside was rainy. Proximity to restaurants is good. Good take out next to building and good steakhouse across a busy road, but worth it. More good options with in 3 miles.

As with many of my other reviews my love of the best western chain was once again confirmed with this property. The staff was welcoming and friendly, and the property and rooms were very clean throughout. These things make a huge difference anytime you travel but especially when you travel for weeks at a time. The room was very nice, clean, and comfortable. The hotel is on a VERY busy road and close to many stores and restaurants. The breakfast was good as expected and clean. Our biggest complaint was the $50 plus tax, extra charged to our credit card for "incidentals". We were supposed to be told about this on check-in but we were not and it was a shock when we looked at out statement online. With all the credit card thief going on, we called right away. They said we would get it back in 2 to 14 days. We called the hotel itself and they were not helpful at all, but just said it was a policy to charge this. A call from the central office said it had been a practice for a few years and most customers are not aware of it. Our Discover Card must be prompter to post than other credit cards. It was removed and the correct amount posted in a few days. We have been aware of this practice at campgrounds or rental cottage etc, but never at a hotel. Corporate said only that they will let the management know that we were not informed of this practice. There are plenty of hotel/motels out there, and we will be staying at the others.

I do lots of travel all around the world for my Business purpose. For selecting the hotel stay, I always first look for Best western/Best Western Plus is near by or not. This is a very nice Hotel and the price is also within limit. I normally came to Delaware for working in Delaware city refinery & always recommend everyone to stay in Best Western Plus Newark/Christiana Inn. This is a excellent hotel compare to any other hotel near by.

"Smell"

Stayed before at this hotel and the housekeeping staff was great. After a long day at work, my room was fresh and smelled clean. But this trip, the first thing I smelled was the horrible stench in the 1st floor hallway, then when I went into my room, there a strong smell of a sick older person. i had to go to a store and purchase Lysol spray, Clorox wipes and a scented candle, this made it more tolerable.

Great location. A lot of restaurants and stores in close proximity Great Lobby and Breakfast! A large assortment of food items. Cookies and coffee throughout the day. Comfortable couch and TV in lobby. Made it comfortable to meet and greet family members.

This hotel had suites that really met our needs. there was a door between the bedroom/bathroom area and the living room, and it had a pull out couch. The decor was good quality and staff were nice and helpful.

This Best Western is a relatively good one. Nice large lobby area. The self-serve buffet breakfast was really good. Sink did not drain properly in my room, but since I was only there briefly for two nights, this was not a big deal for me. I would expect other guest in the near future would have a positive experience logging at this hotel.

"Convenient location, comfortable rooms and upscale breakfast"

When I called the front desk they actually had rooms at the coupon price of $69.00 which is very reasonable. We had 2 queen beds in the room. The hotel was impressive with a great location where there were plenty of restaurants to chose from. The beds were very comfortable. The only problem we had was the thermostat in the room. It just wouldn't cool down enough for us. Also, the internet was slow. The room was very clean. The front desk staff especially Anthony was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay there again.

The only complaint was the washing machine was broken. It made a terrible noise. When I reported it to front desk, they seemed very unconcerned. Since my stay lasted 2 months this inconvenience had me hand washing my clothes in the sink.

I love this Best Western. The staff was outstanding. They go the extra mile to accommodate you. I was originally placed on third floor, however I wanted to be on the first floor. Front desk clerk was able to make the change for me. The bed was very comfortable. The free morning buffet is excellent. I loved the free in room Wi-Fi. You get discount on a few restaurants that are near the hotel- steakhouse across the street and pizza place within walking distance ( also deliver). Victory Christian Fellowship Church is within three miles of the hotel. I would recommend this hotel.

"Staff Great, Hotel Poor"

There were no cleaned towels at the pool site. when I asked for a few towels from the front desk I was given hand towels and was told there weren't and cleaned towels unless I wanted to wait for her to do a load. Also the toilet in the room was horrible. First thing I noticed when I opened the bathroom door. Rust running all down the back of the toilet onto the floor. Also hair left behind in the shower. I took pictures for proof. Also there wasn't any bedding in the room for the sofa, I had to go get it from the front desk. Last when I pulled out the sofa there was a black balloon with a scull print ( from Halloween) smack in the middle of the bed. Gave me the impression that the bed was never cleaned. Also the was a fire alarm the building had to be evacuated. However once the building was deemed clear the hotel staff gave information the the customers. They just went behind the front desk and on with their business. That gave us the impression that everything was ok. I still am not aware of the reason the alarm went off. I just believe the customers should have been told what was going on so that they could finish their night feeling safe instead of worrying if the alarm was going to go off again. This stay could have been better for the price that was charged.

I was so pleasantly surprised when I checked into my room. It was large, lovely, and spotless. I had planned to go out to eat but the hotel provided a variety of nearby restaurants' menus. I called, had food delivered, and even that was a quick and delicious service.

Stayed here for 2 nights while visiting a relative in the Christiana Hospital. It was only 5 miles away, so decided to stay here because of the price and amenities. Check in was easy and was explained everything I needed to know about the hotel. The pool and hot tub was awesome. A nice addition for sure. The breakfast was very good and plentiful. Our room was very clean and we loved the bed and pillows. Everyone was so nice and helpful too. All in all, we recommend this place for sure!

Room was very clean and bed was comfortable which are the most important things to me with a hotel. Free breakfast was standard and met expectations. If your room is on the front side of the building you will need to close your blackout shades to keep out bright security lights and traffic noise. There were a couple other minor flaws but nothing that overly affected my stay. Staff was very nice.

We had a very good experience at the Best Western Plus in Newark Delaware. Our room was clean and comfortable. Service was also good. We were able to get reservations on short notice, dispite the fact that the hotel was packed. We were also able to spend a great visit with our grandson on the campus of The Univ. of Delaware. "OK hotel en route south"

Have stayed here before as it's a convenient stopover when we head south. Check in was fast and easy. Room was comfortable. Wifi was much better than during our previous stay. Breakfast was a little limited as noted during a previous stay. Hotel could do with a little brightening up. Rate was reasonable and we had a $25 travel card so a good deal.

"Overpriced bad hotel"

Moldy bathroom, broken closet door, smelly, security light outside of our window on all night, towels that smelled of cigarettes, mediocre breakfast, long wait at reception for no reason. We will not be staying here again. It was not horrible, just bad and overpriced. We paid $160 per night, it was worth about $65 per night. And.....the mattress was bad.

"Little Gem of a Hideaway!"

We used this hotel as "home base" for our little weekend honeymoon. It is close to a large variety of attractions (Riverfront, Christiana Mall as well as other places). The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They told us about showing our room key for a discount at the steakhouse across the street, which was a nice surprise. We used the pool and hot tub (all by ourselves as no one else was using them). The breakfast was decent and a variety of foods was there. Housekeeping was friendly as well. We had a room on the third floor, which overlooked the construction lot next door (we were not staying for spectacular views). We would highly recommend this hotel to others and can see ourselves staying here in the future.

We had a great overnight stay during a multi-day motorcycle trip. The desk clerk was not only quick and courteous, she went out of her way to print out local maps when we inquired about gas stations and restaurants in the area. She also had us park our motorcycle in front of the entryway where it would be safer. (That's one reason I stay at Best Westerns when possible) The room was clean and spacious. The breakfast was your average hotel breakfast spread.

Have stayed at this location many times. Hotel and staff are both always delightful. Rooms are spacious, I have work while I am there and the internet and peace and quiet both serve me well. Located perfectly with many good places to eat near by.

I took my son to see the race in Dover. Coming from N.Y.we decided to get a room. This hotel is very clean, the room is nicely appointed and the staff at the front desk were really nice and helpful. Not being from the area, I had a few questions and they were all answered. The pool is nice too.

Have been staying at this hotel for the past 5 years while attending the fall NASCAR Race at Dover. The cost is reasonable and is very convenient to get to. Close enough to the race track for convenience ---but not too far away.

"Inexpensive and Clean"

Little better than the average BW. Wifi could use some help but breakfast is decent and the rooms are clean and updated. Good value for the money for a business stay since all you do is sleep in the room anyway. Room key gives you 10% off some local restaurants. We had 7 rooms and only one had to be changed out as it was probably a smoking room prior and had the lingering smell to it. They were super nice and took care of it, Shout out to Brittney who was professional and helpful.

I enjoyed my stay at the Best Western Plus in Bear, DE. The location looks like it might be noisy because it is close to the highway, but my room was very quiet. The staff was courteous and the check in/out procedure was painless. The breakfast was very good. Overall excellent stay with no complaints.

The hotel staff are always very pleasant and one member goes out of her way to make sure your stay is made special. Britney is a credit to the company and has a good memory for faces and will always make some comment relevant to you. The hotel is well placed and has some good facilities Sadly the breakfast was lacking this time, no porridge, sad buns and the same hot breakfast each day. Also refill bottles in the bathroom so I am not keen on this particularly from a BW+, That said all in all a good hotel

"A nice property - but"

We had a very nice stay here but it wasn't without issues. The bed was great. The TV was fine, the water pressure was also fine. The WiFi was slow and the sign in the parking lot saying the property was not responsible for personal loss or damage to vehicles was disconcerting and so we unloaded our vehicle. Carrying the golf clubs and the extra luggage to the room was a bother but we managed. The breakfast was about average and checkout was fine. The property is close to the interstate so it was convenient.
