« Wonderful stop to relax »

Traveling home from Charlotte and wanted a quiet stop with a view away from the city. Found this gem and will be back. Room was the cleanest that I've found in a hotel in years, grounds were beautiful and exceptionally maintained. Husband and I enjoyed sitting on the swing relaxing before bed and sitting outside enjoying the free light breakfast and coffee watching the numerous birds and squirrels. All staff were incredibly nice and offered great suggestions of local spots to visit. Went out back to watch the sun rise over the mountains by the sitting area near sign. Only things that could've been better and are not that big of a deal: fire pit being lit a bit later, pool maybe a bit later and mattresses could use an upgrade. However we slept fine and still found a wonderful relaxing stay as a couple. Just wonderful. Oh and the goody bag was such a sweet surprise upon getting into the room!!!! Also they have cloths in office for motorcycles:)

    « A mountain gem. »

We travel alot around the country. Always looking for affordable clean comfy hotels. This Best Western is a gem. Very very clean. Great views, and service was fast and lots of smiles. The place has outdoor rocking chairs in front of each room so you can take in the beautiful views. A fire pit with chairs. A gas grill and table so you can picnic. The room it self clean comfy bed, refrigerator, big screen tv and even a goodie bag to welcome you with a cookie and microwave popcorn. So together this allowed us to unwind feel like we had comfort on a great visit. Highly recommend this place.

« Best value, friendly management and staff, amazing location »

Amazing and friendly staff. So many personal touches and great people, including the owner and his all hist staff and especially Debra, Dennis and Babs. Room doors open to the great outdoors, with outside chairs and benches to kick back and relax. Spotless and updated rooms, all new beds and furniture, new bed sheets and thick, comfortable towels. The hotel is located a mile or so from Waynesville downtown with an amazing view of the Smoky Mountains. We've been staying here for the past 5 years every May and we plan to be back for many more. If you want high value for your money, modern amenities, a friendly staff and a quiet place that's off the beaten path you won't find anything better - in Waynesville or anywhere else.

« Nice modern rooms, Friendly staff, Good breakfast, Great View »

I love this place! The rooms are on the outside, but the quality of room is very modern and upgraded. It does not feel like a cheep motel at all! The staff is very friendly, and they give you a welcome package with cookies, brownies, and water in the room. The beds are comfortable, although the bathroom was a little small. The breakfast has more options than you need, including a waffle maker and multi-function coffee maker. The view of the mountains outside is amazing! I stayed with my husband and 2 sons, and we had a wonderful time. I will definitely stay here again!

    5
    « Beautiful views »

Very nice, clean and affordable hotel. Staff was very nice and accommodating. Very convenient to town and attractions. Would definitely stay here again. The views of the mountains were breathtaking, the property was very clean inside and out.

    « Absolutely Great Service! »

I'd give this hotel an excellent rating except that the facility itself is older. It's been rehabbed but the counters are low and there isn't a lot of storage space (drawers, etc.). Our room was sparkling clean though, with a fridge and microwave. The service was first rate! The manager, Debra, was able to upgrade our room on arrival (at no additional charge) after we'd had to change our reservation dates. All of the staff, from the cheerful breakfast room lady to the maintenance guy (who fixed a squeaky door) did their jobs with a great attitude. We had one day where housekeeping seemed to have been interrupted before they finished with our bathroom. When we called for clean towels and shampoo, not one, but two staff members came to the door within 10 minutes. Definitely recommend this hotel for location and excellent service.

    « Good all around »

This hotel is 5 minuets away from the Folkmoot center. Close to several restaurants, and has a lovely view. The hotel looks recently renovated. Our room had a microwave and mini fridge with a freezer.. which was large enough for a small bag of ice or a few TV dinners. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was large and well appointed. The breakfast had mini muffins, breads, bread for toast, boiled eggs, microwave sausage biscuits, waffles, juice, coffee, tea, milk, cereal, yogurt, and fresh fruit.

« waterfall and wildflower photo trip »

Really good hotel, extremely nice staff and very accommodating. They went out of their way to try to assist you in any way even before you ask. Offering tips on food and sights you might like. Also offered to go to Walmart to make a purchase for me when I suggested I was tried and planned not to go.

« Great place, Great view. »

We were greeted by a friendly staff and had a great experience. The room was spotless with a very comfortable bed, refrigerator, freezer and microwave. The front side of the facility has a great mountain view while the back side is very quiet and private which we liked. Nice rocking chairs outside the room and we were made to feel at home. The staff was great, (Jasper was awesome) and we will return again for sure. Highly recommend this facility to anyone traveling in the Waynesville area. Close to shopping and a couple of great restaurants as well.

« excellent view and great value »

This hotel has a great balcony view of the mountains. It was nice to sit outside the room on rockers, drink a nice glass of wine and just enjoy the scenery and quiet atmosphere of the area. The hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful.

    « Excellent stay »

The hotel was conveniently situated and the staff were amazing. There was always someone available and very friendly/helpful. There is a small gym which no one else used and that was important to me as NC was experiencing very cold weather. The room was spacious, comfortable and convenient.

« Great place to stay »

We stayed at the Best Western Smoky Mountain Inn on March 30, 2018 and it was a very peaceful place to stay. My husband & I stayed in a wheelchair accessible room, which was a little over furnished but still beautiful. Although there wasn't any tub bathtub seat in the room this was quickly taken care off by a friendly staff girl. In my opinion the entrance table and clothing closet should be removed from this accessible room only to be replaced with a clothing rack with shelf near the far end of the TV stand wall nearest the washroom. The room was pleasingly clean and beds comfortable. The popcorn, cookie and water gift bag was a joyful treat. The breakfast met our wants and needs. The property location does require a vehicle to commute to the quaint downtown area. The hotel location does provide and beautiful mountain view with outdoor chairs and fire pit, I would recommend this hotel as a nice place to stay. Great location to connect with the picturesque Smokey Mountain highway. The old 23(441) Highway into Ober Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Dolly Land areas.

    « Visit to Great Grandmother's »

We arrived late in the evening, but that was no problem. We were checked into our room in a matter of minutes. The rooms were great for the price and the view was amazing! The breakfast offered had a nice variety. We would definitely stay here again.

« Best hotel in Waynesville »

We stay here a couple times a year visiting family and it's always a great stay. Especially since their maybe renovations. The rooms are modern, clean, large and functional. Beds are great, nice pillows. HUGE tv (we did have issues with connection that we couldn't fix, kept going in and out, was blamed on wind...) Grounds are well kept and usually there's a basketball net in the back upper parking lot (busted during our visit) Great breakfast with lots of choices. No brainier to stay here.

    5
    « Photography workshop »

The location was great with easy access to the Blueridge Parkway. My room was quiet and clean. Bed was comfortable. I only ate "breakfast" here once -- minimal for okay. Early risers are out of luck except for coffee or tea. Staff were very friendly and helpful -- good advice for places to go for photography.

    5
    « Great service »

Staff of hotel were very friendly and helpful. Property and room were very clean and comfortable. Quality of a much more expensive hotel. Very convenient to everything in Waynesville and the Laurel ridge country club.

    « Wedding »

Stayed two nights for our nephew's destination wedding. The hotel was surprisingly nice and reasonably priced. Debra at the front desk was especially helpful and accommodating. Would stay again; Waynesville is beautiful.

Stayed here for four nights for a family wedding nearby. Staff was amazing from start to finish! Monica was very hospitable at check in and made the stay very pleasurable! They really personalize the experience and we really appreciated it. Bethany made breakfast great every morning and we loved her personality! Jasper was great too in providing towels and anything we needed all week! you have a great team and they all made the hotel feelclokw home away from home!

« New grandbaby arrived in the area and we needed a place to stay. »

We stayed one night. The room was clean, no chemical cleaning smells, beds were comfortable - had a great night's sleep. Very accessible to Asheville, outdoor activites, restaurants. The view is beautiful and the staff was friendly and very helpful. They also called me almost immediately after we left, when they realized that we had forgotten a couple things. So we had time to return to pick up our items. Looking forward to staying there for returning trips.

    « Clean, beautiful, excellent! »

We've been staying here at least twice a month for 17 years and wouldn't stay anywhere else in this area! Clean rooms, beautiful views and excellent customer service!! The staff here treats you like family! They gave us (one of their regulars) a gift at Christmas! What hotel does that? You can't beat the view while laying by the pool!

« Clean rooms at a fair price »

Stayed two nights at this property and it was very nice. Clean rooms good free breakfast and very friendly staff. off the main express way makes it a quite location. Has a nice view of the city and mountains too. Will come back.

Great spot rooms are clean. You have a beautiful view of the Smoky mountains. Restaurants very close by. The staff was very friendly. The breakfast hit the spot. The beds and pillows are nice and comfortable. Would definitely stay again

    « Family Wedding/Guests Find Home »

Not the newest establishment in town but most likely the nicest people. Our wedding guests/family (almost 30 rooms) made this home for 3 days. The staff was remarkable. The rooms are remodeled and nicely appointed. The location is perfect - tucked away from the traffic, and yet an easy drive to the delights of Waynesville and surrounding area. If you are okay with it not being the Ritz, you'll enjoy your stay at this well cared-for, older hotel, being cared for by a five star team.

    « Expensive motel »

My husband and I have travelled extensively and have always been impressed by the very friendly service we usually receive in America. But the service we encountered at this hotel was, without exception, amongst the worst we have ever encountered. Our existence was not acknowledged on our arrival when the receptionist was busy with a call which she did not try to curtail. Instead of an apology for keeping us waiting, or simply a greeting, she demanded to know if we had a reservation. Given the extremely cold temperatures I asked for extra blankets after I discovered that there was only one thin blanket on each of the two double beds, I was told that they were ?sold out? of blankets. It was only after I pointed out that given he fact that this was a highly rated hotel, that the room door did not close properly and that there was air gushing in under the door that she miraculously found two more blankets. Check out was met with the same lack of hospitality. Added to the bad service was the fact that the double beds are really small and the breakfast a frugal affair in a tiny room which could not accommodate all the guests. I have read the other reviews and can only speculate that these reviewers have not spent time in good, cheap road side motels. Given the prices charged for the service provided, this establishment should be ashamed of itself.

« Happy we pick to stay here »

Planned a trip to Asheville, hotels there were to high, found this Best Western & glad we did. Convenient to downtown Waynesville, Asheville & everything in between. The property is quiet, well kept, the rooms are clean & we even got a welcome bag! Only negative is the breakfast room could be bigger, not lot of places to sit. Other than that a great value

« Family ski night stay »

« Great views. Great service. »

We love staying hear on the way to Tennessee. The service is wonderful. They continually are freshening up the property with paint, plants, etc. Nice to see that. Great views. Easy access from Route 74.

    « Fantastic motel »

We have been staying at this immaculate motel while visiting family in Waynesville for years. Everything changes. But this place has progressed from "great" to "best in class" as far as we're concerned. The folks here do everything they can to keep guests safe, comfortable and happy. They offer one of the most delicious & meticulously serviced continental breakfasts I've ever experienced in a cozy dining area which happens to be right next to the exercise room. The beds are comfortable, everything is clean and newly renovated, & there's a microwave, etc in each room. Kids seem to do very well there. I've never seen an innkeeper team that cares more or does more to make your stay a pleasant one. If you're in Waynesville, NC or nearby, I can't recommend this Best Western highly enough. We rely on those folks when we visit Waynesville several times a year. Try to book ahead if you're planning to visit the area at peak times such as Memorial Day, etc.

    « Quick Getaway »

We booked this room about a month in advance and was a little concerned since our room was on the 2nd floor with stairs. My wife is particularly handicapped and stairs are a no go for us. However we were assured that access to the top floor would not be an issue and it wasn't. They uniquely designed the hotel by digging it into the backside of a small mountain. From the back parking area you had access through a breezeway to the 2nd floor. Our room was clean and fresh and had a great view of the mountains. The only drawback for some may be that it's within sight of the freeway. However I heard very little noise from the traffic which dies down after rush hour. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. The landscaping is pretty and the evening quite and restful. My only drawback was that the bed was a little firmer than I'm used to. This may not be an issue for many. I will definitely stay here again. The price was good for what we received. An overall pleasant stay. Allen... AKA The Day Trippers

« Old design, but recently updated »

This two story motel is built using a design from the 1960's (though it is much newer than that)--outside corridors, window facing the corridor, vanity at the back of the room. The drawback to this design is that to have privacy, the curtains must remain shut. The window cannot be opened for fresh air. The heating/air conditioning unit draws air from the outside, but the "fan only" setting has been disabled, so there is no air circulation in the room unless the unit is heating or cooling. That said, the room condition was excellent, with new tile in the shower and new counter top on the vanity. The room also has a microwave and refrigerator, desk and sofa chair, good lighting, ample electrical outlets. There is some traffic noise in rooms facing the highway (the hotel is located on a hillside above the roadway). Rooms 222 and higher are in the back building facing away from the road and may be quieter. Breakfast, included in the room rate, was adequate and staff kept the selections resupplied. There is no elevator to reach the 2nd floor.

« Hotel is nice but computer needs lots of work »

Overall the hotel itself is very nice but the hotel's computer needs some work or people that know what they are doing. Arrived on Friday Nov 10 to find 7 people in the lobby. One lady in a group of three looks to be very upset. She is asked to step aside so that desk person could check in the next couple. Then back to the lady that was at the desk, and then I learn that she has been there for two hours trying to check in. They had lost her reservation. She is once again asked to step aside and the next lady gets checked in. Then her traveling partner goes to check in and her reservation is not in the system even though she has an confirming email. So she is asked to step aside. So now I am at the desk, WOW my reservation is in the system. So I get checked in. Go to the room only to find that all the towels in the bathroom are in the floor and some are in the toilet. Back to the front desk. Had to wait again for 20 minutes just to get towels while she is still dealing with the other ladies. Next day we return to our room only to find our key cards do not work. Go back to the front desk only to find that I am NOT in the system. Someone else is listed in my room. So took some time to get this straightened out. Then today I get an email saying my reservation is confirmed. Today being 11-14-17 and we stayed at the hotel, 11-10 and 11-11 nights. I booked the room way before then. Like I said the hotel was nice but the computer system needs some work. The only thing I would say is not very good about the hotel is the SMALL breakfast area. Not big enough when the hotel is fully booked. My advise if staying here..... bring all you can to support that you have booked your room, will may need it. Would I stay here again..... Maybe.

« Hidden Treasure with Great View! »

Thanks goodness for GPS Navigation as this property is hidden at the top of a hill with signage that is small and difficult to see from the road. The reward was the view from the hilltop! Requirements for a great stay are a clean room, comfy bed and pillows, and a great shower and this place delivered. If we had stayed in warmer weather, it would have been nice to take advantage of the rocking chairs on the balcony or the quaint sitting areas by the lobby along the driveway. The rollaway we had looked a little worse for wear but was comfortable. Breakfast offered the regular carb staples, just wished for bacon or sausage to go with the pancake & waffles.Would stay here again if in the area

    « Didn't want to leave! »

I'm very funny about anywhere that isn't home but I felt so comfortable here! Very clean, super sweet staff and comfy beds. We only got to stay one night on our short wkend trip already plan to go back and will definitely stay here. Oh and the views right outside our room were gorgeous!

    « Well run »

Clean rooms, comfortable beds, great breakfast selection, near the highway but away from the noise. We prefer the upper (back) level. Grounds are well kept with attention to detail. They have a pool, fire pit, grill, picnic table, fitness room, rocking chairs, a swing and chairs to sit outside. Also, plenty of plugs for electronics and they sanitize their TV remote control...it's the little things that please me! The reason I rated very good is that working with the reception desk is challenging at check-in.

    5
    « The best »

Probably the best run hotel I have ever stayed in. Plus you can't beat the knockout location with stunning mountain views and pastoral setting. Great, attentive staff. Modest price. Quiet. Very nice rooms.

« Staying at the Best Western, Waynesville, NC »

The BW in Waynesville, NC is exceptional! The location is very pretty - on top of a hill with a nice flat parking area. The location is near Hwy 74 (Smoky Mountain Freeway) so was easy to find. The employees were unusually gracious and welcoming. Our room was very clean and the breakfast was good. I highly recommend this Best Western Hotel to travelers in western North Carolina.

Stayed for one night while driving the Blue Ridge. The location is convenient to both Parkway access and local food and shopping. Room was very clean and everything worked. There is some traffic noise from the nearby freeway, but it is tolerable. Breakfast was adequate and the dining area was kept clean by a very active attendant. A very good value!

« Best hotel value ever »

I stayed at this hotel for two nights 9/13 - 9/15. For a budget hotel, this was amazing. I've stayed at much costlier hotels that were not nearly as nice. My room had two queen beds. The room was sufficiently large so as not to feel crowded. It had a practically new hotel size refridgerator and freezer. The flat screen TV was probably a 42 inch or larger with an excellent picture including a large menu of channels. The beds were comfortable. The AC worked well. The shower was clean and worked well. There were quality soaps, shampoo, and lotions. In the room was a guest bag with two large complimentary waters, chocolate chip cookies, and microwave popcorn. Besides the room, the hotel had a good fitness room with nearly new appearing equipment. Breakfast was more than sufficient for a budget hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The exterior of the hotel was beautiful and well maintained. Outside the rooms were rocking chairs and benches to enjoy the beautiful views and weather. The pool was clean and well lit at night with chairs and tables. There was also a smoking area with a gas fireplace. All in all, this was the nicest hotel in its price range I have ever stayed at. I highly recommend it.

« THE BEST Hotel Stay in a long time! »

I travel a great deal and this hotel is one of the best I've been in for quite a while. Spotlessly clean with great housekeeping. Fantastic view overlooking the pool and mountains. Friendly, helpful front desk. Easy, quick check-in. Well-maintained grounds with lovely landscaping, picnic tables, cushioned seats at a fire pit, even rocking chairs on the outside walkways. My room appeared to be newly renovated, very clean and great beds. Even a comfy chair and ottoman. Not to mention the HUGE flat screen TV that really impressed the two children with us. The free breakfast was standard hotel fare but a good variety of items that were restocked immediately as needed. Very clean with 100% health grade. One of the cleanest, safest feeling stays in a long while.

    « Wonderful! »

After a pretty rough night at a motel in Maggie Valley we decided to spend our second night here on a recent weekend getaway. I am so glad we did! Very clean rooms, minutes from downtown Waynesville, lots of outside picnic tables and chairs to enjoy the beauty of the surrounding mountains, rocking chairs outside of every room, and Deb at the front desk is amazing! I could stay a week here. We will definitely be back. Thank you to Deb and all the wonderful staff!

« The suite is beautiful »

Amber who checked us in was very friendly and helpful. The suite we rented for 4 days was beautiful with a king bed & large TV. The grounds are gorgeous. Everyone that we came in contact with was very nice. The hotel is near restaurants and shopping. Go to Clyde's restaurant for country food and the best omelets.

« Great place to stay »

We just did an overnight while visiting family but have to say it was great. Both night and morning desk clerks were friendly and speedy. Room was clean, and they provided water, cookies and popcorn. Nice touch was dark washcloth to remove makeup, I always feel bad when provided with white. Towels were soft and absorbant. Rocking chairs outside. Only complaints were it would have been nice to have extra blanket available in the room as bedding was thin and breakfast area is very small and cramped.

« Great View, Friendly Staff »

We have stayed here three times and had positive experiences each time. The staff was quick to meet any special requests, the room was clean and comfortable, and the grounds were lovely. We frequently sat outside, enjoying the beautiful mountain view. My husband enjoyed using the fitness room as well. All in all, three great stays. We will return!

We stayed here for one night before driving to the Smoky Mountains. It was a great hotel with a wonderful view. Clean, comfortable rooms. My daughter used the exercise room and said it was really nice. Breakfast was good with a variety of items. We would recommend and stay again if ever in the area!

    « Love this hotel! »

This is my second stay at the Best Western Smoky Mountain Inn. I was here for the Lake Logan triathlon. I had requested a room on the second floor with its own parking space. I arrived early and was told that my room wasn't ready yet. I sat on the swing and enjoyed the beautiful scenery while I waited. I was happy that the 2 free bottles water were there. The rooms were renovated within the last 2 years. They have a big flat screen TV, refrigerator with a freezer and a microwave. The Wi fi works great. The only negative is the AC is noisy. Since it gets cool at night, I didn't need AC so I turned it off. The room was clean and the staff was awesome. I highly recommend this hotel and will be back next year.

Fantastic play to stay in Waynesville. My sister lived in Waynesville for many years before moving to MD. This summer after attending a local music festival I needed to find a place to stay overnight and made reservations at the Best Western. It was perfect - clean, comfortable, convenient, lots of amenities, and a staff that made check-in and check-out simple. I highly recommend this place !

You want a tremendous view and a quality hotel at a fair price. This is it! Very romantic fire pits and gas grill for grilling with a view! Bring a bottle of wine and your wife will be all smiles! You won't regret it!

« Great Location, Great View of Mountains »

I was impressed by the renovations done to this older motel! Lots of outdoor sitting areas with chairs, rockers and swings with nice mountain views as the hotel is on top of a hill. Everything is tastefully painted and there is even a gas fire pit to keep warm on cool nights. The rooms are all renovated with new tubs & surrounds, name brand. Also redone are granite countertops, large flat screen tv, microwave and upscale refrigerator. Breakfast is ok, continental style with waffles. There are other nearby breakfast places if you want upscale. Would definitely stay here again.

    « Motel Review »

Not one of the best motels in the area. Was over priced for the room as compared to other BW motels that I have stayed in. Location not bad for the area. Hard to find without directions. No visible Motel sign on highway.

« Overrated, just typical hotel »

I read prior reviews and had confindence that I was booking a nice room for my family. Upon arrival, I was a bit disappointed. The room wasn't dirty but it wasn't as nice as made out in prior reviews. Breakfast was a complete disappointment as it contained little to no protein. Overrated and overpriced for what you get! Also, extremely small pool!

    « Mountain views »

This was our first time at a Best Western and we were impressed. There was a gift bag of water and snacks, pool, landscaped grounds with plants and flowers. The bathroom was sparkling clean. Rockers and chairs are positioned for a great view of the mountains. About 30 minutes from Asheville. If you are a runner be aware of dogs around the farms. They will chase you!

This hotel is one of the cleanest and. I eat hotels I've ever stayed in. Perfect in every way. Refrigerator and microwave in room, granite countertop at vanity, spotless shower and carpet, beautiful grounds. Extremely helpful staff. They even give you a goody bag to welcome you!

Nice Place, clean rooms. Fabulous view of the Smokies. Restaurants and shopping near by. Nice breakfast. Friendly staff. I would stay there again. Large room. Clean bathroom. Comfortable beds. Front staff was helpful with directions. A slight drive from the interstate but not bad

    « A wonderful hotel »

I love this hotel in every way, have stayed many times and always look forward to staying with them when my travels include Waynesville, BUT do NOT stay at the Hendersonville NC BW! It is unsafe, the maintenance man came into my room without knocking! Plus, the awful smell when I entered the room, almost knocked me down. I am a BW platinum Rewards member, so you can trust me on this one.

    « Great hotel! »

The entire hotel was being remodeled but everything was clean and quiet. It is a great location in a quiet setting. Close enough to Waynesville, Lake Junaluska and Maggie Valley. We had no problems while there and would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable place to stay.

Beautiful landscape, fire pits, clean and very comfortable rooms, very friendly staff. This was a very peaceful stay with them. This hotel is centrally located to Waynesville, which great places to eat and shopping. Maggie Valley and Lake Junaleska.

« Great stay in Waynesville »

My son and I were in a father/son trip to western NC and stayed overnight at the BW Smoky Mountain Inn. Full disclosure and not to sound snobby but I normally don't consider BW properties. The Smoky Mountain Inn was fantastic and I would highly recommend if you plan to stay in Waynesville. Check in was a breeze with a super friendly front desk lady and we got a room in second floor with a mountain view. Two queens room was super clean and looked like a recent remodel. Beds were great, AC worked well, nice big screen tv. The grounds of the property were particularly nice with chairs set out, a fire pit going, and nice lighting. It's approximately 10 minutes to downtown Waynesville and there is a Wal Mart a few minutes away. Excellent choice!

    « Good hotel »

This was a nice, clean, comfortable, and reasonably priced hotel. Our only complaint is that we expected a full breakfast--as was the case with other Best Westerns where we have stayed--but received only the very small Continental breakfast of breads and cereals.

« Great place to stay »

We spent three nights at the Best Western Smoky Mountain Inn in Waynesville. This is how good hotels used to be run. All of the staff are friendly, the rooms and grounds are immaculate and the view is wonderful. The hotel sits atop a hill overlooking a portion of Waynesville and the surrounding mountains. The employees work hard, keeping the landscaping lovely, full of flower beds and blooms everywhere. There are two fire pits and several seating areas scattered around the property. There is a short trail behind the hotel where you can get an even better view of the mountains. The room and bathroom were comfy and large enough to move around in. New furnishings and a large dorm-style fridge. The complimentary breakfast was adequate, with the usual cereal and milk, muffins and breads, juice, yogurt, instant oatmeal, coffee, and two waffle/pancake makers. Lots of carbohydrates. More warm protein options would have been nice.(There were hard boiled eggs in the fridge.) We did have some trouble with wifi and the TV in the room but I was able to use the internet in the lobby, and we weren't there to watch tv, so it wasn't that big of a deal for us. Overall, a great place to stay. If you've lost faith in the Best Western brand, this motel will restore it, if only for this location.

« Great one night Family Stay! »

We planned a stop over here on our family vacation to the beach. This was an excellent choice in a beautiful setting. Our only regret is that we didn't arrive until late at night. We wished we could enjoy the grounds and hotel a bit more. It is in a beautiful setting, right outside a small town. Typically I don't have high expectations for small towns, but this was opposite that experience! The rooms are very LARGE, clean and well appointed. There was a gift bag with a couple snacks and bottled water! Other little complimentary items made us feel like the staff or management had really thought of everything! (You don't feel nickel and dimed here.) The views are excellent. The grounds are kept very nice, with a lot of thought and detail work. Flowers, sitting areas, etc. The rooms are open to the outside, and very accessible to your vehicle, also a sitting area in front of each room! The breakfast was decent, just enough options, probably could have used more fresh fruit or non carb options, but we were happy. There were boiled eggs, yogurt and oatmeal. The young lady attending the breakfast area was on top of it and really nice to our boys. The only slightly negative thing was that I did notice the front desk staff seemed overwhelmed a couple times. I'm sure they had a lot of responsibility on their plates, and they were able to run around and do a lot. I do hope that this property can continue along this path and continue to provide a high level of customer service. The wifi never worked fully for us, but we weren't there too long for it to be an issue. We left from here to go explore the smoky mountains for hiking and waterfalls, then off to our next stop. This was a very comfortable overnight for our family and a great start to vacation.

« Night Check In Is Rude, The Staff Is Ridiculously Noisy, Etc »

Upon checking in we had to wait over 10 minutes and call the hotel to get someone to even come to the front desk. Then she told us to hold on because she had made coffee and was tired and needed some. She didn't even ask us what type of room we wanted. When I tried to give her my rewards card and tell her we were AAA members, she ignored me. Finally we got checked in and in the room (with 2 smaller beds - we just wanted one bed). The noise started up just after 6 am. Slamming doors, conversations (very thin walls), and when the housekeeping staff started their cleaning they were all yelling back and forth to each other from one end of the building to the other. This went on for hours. We only stayed one night and were exhausted leaving. I would not recommend this place to anyone - which is really sad because I have never had a bad experience at a Best Western til now.

    « Fantastic stay »

Angie who checked us in was really helpful and nice I would recommend this hotel to anyone it was so clean and comfortable. There was also a goodie bag with water, popcorn and a cookie you don't usually get a surprise when you get into your room. Debra checked us out I can't say enough how friendly this place is.

    « Very Nice »

My husband and I stopped here on our way back to Florida. The staff was very nice and the location and outdoor areas were particularly lovely. The room was good size other than the bath area. The housekeeping was a negative for me as there were several items left from the previous occupant including a used bar of soap in the shower and some ice cream in the freezer! This made me wonder what else was left uncleaned. Breakfast was mostly carbs but good and fresh. There was a surprising amount of road noise from the highway which wasn't that close.

« Everything in its place! »

I travel a lot but this establishment deserves kudos. The grounds are immaculate and many different flowers amongst sitting areas. There are even propane fires with chairs outside. I was really surprised to see shoe brushes mounted at every breeze way. The king room was perfect and very very clean. The front desk clerk, "Angie" was most accommodating and serves as a credit to this motel. It is little wonder that they carry the title of being number one of hotel choices in this area. There is no lack of good places to dine and I always consult TripAdvisor when I'm away from home.

    « Great Inn »

This motel doesn't have an elevator, but one is able to get to second level without doing stairs. Beautiful views and landscaping and lots of seating to enjoy the out of doors. No traffic closeby. Room was room. Fridge was fairly large, had its own freezer which was great since I could refreeze my cooler pack. Bed was great. Ample pillows. Thermostat worked well. Wifi worked well once I realized the password was all lowercase.

My husband and I stumbled across this fantastic hotel. It was very reasonably priced so we decided to give it a try. The hotel was spotless, the staff couldn't be more helpful and there were numerous outside sitting areas with beautiful views, flowers and landscaping to sit back and relax. I would definitely recommend and plan on staying there again.

The staff was excellent and very helpful with our stay. You should be proud to have a staff like this . They are AWESOME! My husband was recently diagnosed with heart failure. Located just off highway (but without big sign), this was a great place to stay! Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Room was quiet, very clean and spacious, with welcome treats of cookies, bottled water and popcorn to microwave in the room. Hotel very well tended, with lovely flowers all around and outside seating areas to enjoy the mountain views. Breakfast was included and was good.

« Excellent hotel and service in the NC Mountains! »

My family (2 adults, 3 kids - 9, 6, 2) spent the night here on our way to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. We usually stay in the Asheville area, however ridiculously high prices plus the fact there was a festival going on in downtown Waynesville, persuaded us to give the Best Western Smoky Mountain Inn a try - and it was fantastic! The property grounds are very pretty...nice views, sitting areas, bird feeders, etc. Felt much more like a resort than a chain hotel. There is a gas fire pit where you can sit, a swinging seat, as well as a nice pool. The rooms, while outdoor entrance, were very clean. Water bottles and cookies were in the room upon our arrival. Rocking chairs were outside our door. Very comfortable beds...very happy with what we had in the room. Staff members were extremely friendly and helpful!! From the check-in to the breakfast staff, we were received with courtesy and professionalism. Waynesville is also a nice alternative to Asheville. Several great breweries, shops and restaurants. We ate at Haywood Smokehouse (another review) and it was only a couple miles from the hotel (and another 5 star!). Great little mountain town! All in all, I would stay here in a heartbeat again when my travels bring me to WNC. I was extremely happy with the Best Western Smoky Mountain Inn.

    « Above average stay »

Nice, clean hotel. Beautiful view of mountains. Comfortable beds and fairly quiet although some remodeling taking place and dumpster in front of hotel is an eyesore. Breakfast was very carb heavy. No hot items since they don't have a kitchen. Friendly staff and great location for downtown Waynesville and Blue Ridge Parkway. Wife said she would stay there again and I agree.

    « A great place to stay »

My husband and I wanted to do a quick weekend getaway and this hotel meet all of our expectations. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was exactly as advertised, a nice continental style breakfast. The view is great. It is easy to travel to all the surrounding mountain towns. Waynesville has a lot of nice shopping on its main street. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel.

« Friendly, fantastic hospitality and very clean rooms »

This is a hidden gem of a hotel. Perfect for budget-conscious travelers who still want a clean, comfortable, and enjoyable place to stay. Room was very clean - spotless bathroom. Hotel staff was super-friendly from the manager all the way through the housekeeping staff. They left a gift bag with bottled water, cookies, and microwave popcorn in our room each day. Simple thing, but was such a nice touch and made us feel very welcome. The property is beautiful with nice seating areas outdoors to go with the amazing view. Continental breakfast is basic but works well. Weather has not warmed up enough to make the pool comfortable yet and it is not heated -brrrrrrr - but that was a very minor thing. Hotel is very convenient to downtown Waynesville and made a great home base for us to explore this beautiful area. Most impressive thing for us is that the staff clearly takes pride in making sure their hotel is comfortable and their guests have a great experience. Would definitely recommend and stay there again!

    « Felt like family »

Older but updated hotel nestled in rolling hills but right off the highway. The landscaping was beautiful. Many "smoking areas" with comfortable wicker furniture and even a fire pit. We don't smoke but enjoyed sitting and looking down at the traffic and enjoyed the sunset. Too cool to swim but the outdoor pool looked inviting. The room was big, large flat screen tv, wi if was great. We stayed 4 nights and was left a bag of cookies, microwave popcorn, and bottled water daily. We had a room in the back with a large group of motorcyclists around our room. They came in around 10 pm one night but the room was so well insulated that we barely heard them. I asked at the front desk for a softer pillow and extra bath towels and they accommodated me right away. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was good. No eggs but one had plenty of other choices including a waffle machine. Our price went up on the weekend but we were in town for an event on a holiday weekend so we understood. Make reservations in advance to get the best price.

Easy access from my exit off the Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway. The grounds where more homey than hotel. Friendly service. Great rate. Great View of the Smokey Mountains. My room was clean. I had a fridge, microwave, coffee pot and coffee. I had good soaps and a nice surprise was complimentary bottled waters, cookies and a popcorn pack in a brown paper gift bag, nice touch. All that and a beautiful hard cover book filled with photos of the area and things to do there. I felt safe tucked in my clean sheets watching full cable and free wi-fi. A hot shower and continental breakfast after a solid nights sleep. I would stay there again. I don't usually write reviews but this place was worth the effort.

Traveling from Raleigh North Carolina to Nashville Tennessee, Wife and I were meeting a friend for dinner at a seafood place in Waynesville N.C. Reservations were made for the Best Western Smoky Mountain Inn. On arriving we were greeted with a friendly "Hello, and welcome". The Inn is on it's final steps of a three year renovation, "from top to bottom". The rooms, clean, bright and well appointed, though our bathroom was a bit small. Our normal stays, when we travel to Tennessee or Florida, We use the Hilton Hotels or Best Western Plus. This place may not be a "Plus" but it comes awfully close. We will stay again in our trips to Tennessee to see the grandchildren.

There are not a lot of hotel options in Waynesville so I hesitantly booked this room not expecting much. What a surprise! Not only were the rooms spacious, clean and comfortable. They also provided many little extras like snacks and bottled water. The Hotel staff was very friendly and informative. The outdoor seating area and fire pit was a nice place to unwind for the evening. I would definitely recommend staying here. This is a fantastic value

My wife and I decided to check out several micro brewery's and to experience downtown Waynesville,NC over this past weekend. Having never stayed in this area before we took a chance on staying at the Smoky Mountain Best Western and we were absolutely glad we did! This is an older property but it has been taken care in every aspect. This is still the old park in front of your room type of motel but there was plenty of clean spaces available even though it was full that night. The rooms were immaculate and fresh. Furniture was also very appealing. We had a single queen bed that was very comfortable. Huge flat screen TV for your pleasure. The grounds are very well tended, with some nice outdoor sitting areas with nice views. Bath rooms are typically small but very clean and tidy and the shower had good pressure. One nice touch was the little gift bag that we found in the room with bottled water and cookies and microwave popcorn! In room microwave and refrigerator were very welcome! Definitely would come back for another visit!

« Best Best Western I have stayed In. »

We were tired and wet and needed a place to stay and spotted the Best Western Sign. Little did we know how nice the staff was in helping us find the place, check in quickly and reccomending a great restaurant close to eat and warm up in the unusually cold early spring evening. Our room was as clean as could be and had a disposable sleeve over the remote for cleanliness. Wow, I usually have put them in a baggie!! They thought of everything. The bed was soft and comfortable and the TV a huge flat screen. They had a 100% NC sanitation rating on the wall of the breakfast room. Impressive. They also have an outdoor pool with lovely flowers planted all around the property. When we checked out was told we were lucky to get the room last night as they were booked solid, and I can see why. You can see the pride taken in their work at The BW Smokey Mountain Inn! I will be sure to reserve a night if going back!

« Clean, comfortable and convenient »

The only thing that would make this hotel better is if it were dog friendly. It has an easy to reach location off of 23, easy to take the surface roads into town for dinner. Perched high up on a small hill, they have placed rocking chairs and benches outside of the rooms and around the property so you can enjoy the views. Non smoking rooms are great. Bed was very comfortable. The entire property is well-maintained and very clean. Lovely perennial flower beds just starting to bloom in late April. Staff was very friendly and polite.

    « Exceeded expectations »

Exceeded my expectations numerous times. Very comfortable. Very clean. They have put a lot of thought and effort into making this a good experience. On one level its a basic old school motel at a reasonable price but they have made the most of that. A care package in the room. Rope lighting as you drive up. Great shower head. Good coffee choices at breakfast. Free wifi. Nice pool. And the view is amazing. And right off the highway but hidden away where you dont know it.

It's all in the little details. This may be a "chain" hotel but they make it cozier and friendly small town type. Great location right off expressway. Everything nearby in west Waynesville. Good view of mountains on porch with rocking chairs. Sitting areas on property. Basketball goal and good pool on property. Property is updated, super clean, large rooms, comfy beds, large flat tvs, plenty of hot water. Daily snacks and water left in rooms. Friendly helpful staff. Good breakfast included. We will be back and recommend.

Modern, clean rooms, friendly staff, good continental breakfast. Very convenient location. We will definitely stay here again! Only minor thing is the breakfast area is a little small when it's a busy breakfast rush.

« Great service and reasonable rates for our extended stay »

In town for almost two weeks for work. I was able to stay in the same room the whole time. Great location to the smokey mountains. A great area to take in the fall colors. Easy driving distance to town. Nothing really with in walking distance. Nice folks though. Happy with our stay.

No need to look any further, this is THE place to stay in Waynesville. Recently renovated inside and out. Clean, comfortable, friendly 100% rating. Located off Rt. 23/74 at exit 98. Breakfast room with plenty of choices for everyone. Plenty of outdoor seating areas. A plus is this place is pet and smoke free so the rooms smell fresh and not overpowering with air fresheners. Did I mention CLEAN!!!!! Guaranteed if you stay here, you'll return. Happy travels.

Wonderful to receive check in phone c all feom front desk aftwr we were in our room for a little while. Very clean. Great shower head. Comfortable bed. Clean air filters. Wonderful to be able to adjust air so easily. One recommendation is to raise the height of the sink counter. Way to low. More luke set at accessible height and we are not in an accessible room. Friendly staff. Would add some k8nd of glutenfree protein to breakfast such as sausage, scrambled eggs, cheese cubes or slices. Include oranges in the fruit.

    « Adequate »

The room was old style but clean.Very noisy air conditioner. The front desk staff were inattentive and not welcoming. Our internet booking said check in at 3pm and we arrived at 2.50 and were told the check in wasn't until 4pm but were begrudgingly allowed to check in. Their own info. in the room said check in was 2pm! Good location for bottom of Blue Ridge Parkway and Smokey Mountain National Park

The view of the mountains is spectacular. The locations to downtown is perfect. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a great getaway.

Discovered this hotel after a quick trip to the area. Our room was very clean, comfortable, and quite. Would definitely stay there again if and when we are in the area again. Loved the view and the fact the motel was up on a hill from the road.

« Caring Staff, Beautiful Setting »

The staff at this hotel is caring and helpful. The rooms and clean and comfortable. The hotel sits on a beautiful hillside with easy access to the entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is my favorite place to stay when visiting the NC mountains.

« Excellent choice in the area »

We stayed Oct 25 - 26. Our room was exceptionally clean, updated and the shower was a treat from where we stayed previously. The staff is so welcoming. The grounds are very well kept and set up to sit snd enjoy the view. They even left us bottles water and a snack in our room. We will definitely return when we're in the area. Thank you!

As I had to be in the area for a Saturday funeral, I was not looking for a luxury hotel although the prices did not reflect this. The room was very nice as well as the staff. But I think the price of the room was outrageous. I understand that it was peak leaf season and all but this motel is not close to restaurants or any other shopping.

    5
« They were sold out! »

We love this hotel in the mountains and the food in the city. But sadly it was sold out this past Saturday night and has become a popular place based on the app reviews. It is also leaf peeper season in the mountains as the trees turn beautiful this time a year and people travel from far to see this. We will try again next time we're in the area. We did go by and feed apples to the donkeys at the bottom of the hill and had lunch at Bogarts. We just stopped driving early when we found out we could stay here and got a room and drove to waynesville the next day.

    « A quite relaxing neat motel »

Very easy get off and back to highway. Extremely quite. Spacious and neet room. Very friendly staff members. One of them took a picture of us seating on the swing bench in fornt of the entry door, it is only a few minutes drive to the main street of Waynesville where you can find quite a few restaurants.

An older property but redone and very nice. Friendly staff, good breakfast, easy location. Not sure it's worth the price but quieter than motorcycles in Maggie Valley. Nice view, close to shopping and restaurants. Interesting amenities on the property.

Located at the last minute on Trip Advisor while viewing Fall Foliage in the mountains. This motel was exceptionally clean with great views and there are several outside sitting areas to take advantage of the views and enjoy a glass of wine. For the quality of the hotel and views the pricing was exceptionally good.

    « Very nice! »

My husband and I spent one night here and were very impressed. We normally stay at Hampton Inns when traveling, but since one wasn't near, we chose this Best Western, based on reviews. It's an older hotel, but has recently undergone renovations. Room was very clean, beds comfy, large (rainfall ?) shower head, large screen TV--an added plus was the fact that they put a complimentary bag in our room with two waters, chocolate chip cookies and popcorn for us to enjoy during our stay. There is also a microwave and small refrigerator in room. Grounds are very well kept. The staff couldn't have been nicer. I will definitely stay here again.

This is the only motel/inn I would consider in this area. It is clean and the setting is gorgeous ....any time of year. The staff are friendly and go out of their way to ensure my stay is satisfactory.

    « Very, very pleased! »

Our stay at Best Western Smoky Mountain Inn could not have been nicer. The staff accommodated my parents with a room adjoining mine with no steps in between. For several years I have been trying to coax them into staying here, but they were doubtful that their needs could be met better than in Canton. Comfortable beds, a wonderfully complete breakfast, and terrific service proved to them that a stay at this inn was the right move. I am both relieved and thrilled that our experience was top notch. Thank you to everyone from the desk staff to housekeeping for helping me keep my word!

This is the best Best Western I have seen. Has been completely redone. Upscale rooms and furniture. Nice lobby and well maintained exterior make this a gem for the area. Good hot breakfast and great internet, pleasant staff and comfortable bed. Much more than expected for a Best Western,

« Excellent for location and price point! Fabulous beds! »

The Best Western Smokey Mountain Inn, was a wonderful surprise. Clean, updates rooms, with great bedding, wonderful pillows, really big flat screen TV's, Good breakfast included, and great location overlooking beautiful mountains. There was a pool, and outdoor seating at cafe styled tables and a swings love seat that allowed us to enjoy the fresh mountain air. Terrific value. We were here for a family wedding, and it really worked out well for all.

This is the best Hotel I have stayed in, in a very long time! The view is amazing! Very quite, peaceful place. The staff were very nice and the room was clean! They even give you a welcome bag of goodies! Not to many places do that. The hotel has a nice swing on the grounds were you can take in all the views and relax. I will definitely stay there again in the future!

Loved the place, it was a very relaxing time. The view was wonderful. Clean rooms, gave you a bag of goodies, friendly staff, and kept the outside area very tidy and clean. would not hesitate to go back. One of the best Best Westerns we have stayed in.

    « Stay of September 20 and 21 »

Loved this hotel, but most Importantly the staff. Kaye was in the lobby and proceeded to tell me about the area. Her information was instrumental in our stay. Everyone at the hotel was extremely friendly, and I mean every staff member. In addition we received two bottles of water, cookies and popcorn. Really nice perk. Wide screen tv was genuinely appreciated. The grounds were well manicured. The room was immaculate. I would stay here again, and would recommend to friends. We did not eat the breakfast buffet, but it looked good. Would give this hotel ten stars if I could.

    « Stay Here! »

I can sum up this stay with two words - STAY HERE! I've never had a good experience with any Best Western stays but this property has changed my mind. When pulling in late, my husband and I noticed it is located next to a car dealership that was brightly lit. We thought, great, bright lights = no sleep but this was not the case here. Because of the way it's situated you don't even see the car lot, instead there's a pretty mountain view. Smoky Mountain Inn is an older motel that has recently been renovated and they did a marvelous job. I've stayed at 5 star hotels before that didn't offer the amenities we had here. I am a stickler for cleanliness and detail - everything here is new and clean, clean, clean! Here is what I loved about the Smoky Mountain Inn: 100% Sanitation rating in the breakfast area (the coffee was very good!) continental breakfast was included in rate Size and cleanliness of our room (we had a mountain view room upstairs with 2 queen beds) The decor of our room A gift bag in room containing 2 large water bottles, a pack of large cookies and microwave popcorn. Refrigerator and microwave Large flat screen tv (42"- 48"?) Clean sleeve for tv remote Desk and chair Large comfortable chair with ottoman Comfortable bed with plenty of pillows Tiled floors in toilet area Clean base boards and floor behind toilet Granite counter in sink area Fresh shower curtain that was hung on a rounded rod that allowed for more room when showering A HUGE shower head that had an easily adjustable water flow Plenty of thick fluffy towels A dark washcloth specifically to use to remove makeup Nicely scented soaps and lotions Plastic bag to line ice bucket A large folded paper towel to take with you in the car Trash can liners that are tied tight so when you dispose of trash they don't slip down Beautiful maintained grounds with flowers We only stayed here one night of our extended weekend getaway. It is close to the Asheville area and the Blue Ridge Parkway and makes a great home base for daily hiking and exploring. After staying in some really, really bad hotels and Inns in the Hendersonville area that cost way more, I wish we would have found it sooner and made it our home base - well, next time! Thank you to the management and staff who do such a good job at making this property so enjoyable!

« Excellent and friendly service »

I spent a weekendwith a cousin at this inn. We had very comfortable, well-appointed rooms. The staff was very polite and friendly and made every effort to be helpful. I had a problem with printing out my boarding pass but, fortunately, one of the ladies at the reception found a solution.

    « A Lovely Stay In A Lovey Hotel »

We were going the Waynesville area for an annual Bladder Cancer Survivor Support Meeting on Fri & Sat (9/16 & 9/17). We wanted to do some SightSeeing while in the area also. Based on some recommendations of the local BCAN Organizer we choose this hotel for our stay. We called & booked a room for five days, not knowing how long we would be able to actually stay and they were so flexible with the days, we could have left or extended as we needed. We arrived on Thursday and checked out Mon. & headed toward Asheville for a couple of days there before heading back toward the coast. This is a very lovely property located on a hill with beautiful views. They have very nice little park benches located all around so one can sit outside to enjoy the views. There is also a nice outdoor pool & small gym, but we did not take advantage of either. The overall service was OUTSTANDING, from everyone at the front desk, to the breakfast service, to Carolyn, who cleaned our room each day. A VERY NICE TOUCH was the fresh Water Bottles, Cookies & Popcorn placed in the room each day. That was a nice snack to come back to each day & also to know we could start the next day with a fresh bottle of water. The room & bathroom was spacious & very clean, and a microwave, refrigerator & free WiFi were provided. While this is not a five star hotel in Manhattan, I am giving it Five Stars & a very high recommendation because everything was right for this location & we will definitely book this hotel when we are in the Waynesville area again :-)

    « Gorgeous view & lovely motel »

Situated with a beautiful mountain view, this hotel also has carefully planned landscaping that complements the setting. The rooms look to be freshly remodeled and are very atractive. It was quiet even though it sits on a hill above a noisy road. Staff are very pleasant. The breakfast was very complete in terms of items offered. An excellent value and a step above other motels in this price-range. Would highly recommend a stay here and we are "picky" about where we stay.

We stayed at the Best Western in Waynesville, NC to attend a wedding in Waynesville. The hotel was very clean, newly remodeled and hotel staff was outstanding. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast was very good. This hotel is a great stay and value. Deborah went out of her way to make sure the guest for the wedding staying at the hotel were made to feel special and welcomed. She went over and beyond to ensure that everyone's stay was outstanding. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in this area.

After a long day of hiking in the VA Mountains my next stop was Asheville. Unfortunately, It was late and everything was booked. Waynesville was a bit further than I had planned to drive but once I got to the room I was very grateful! Super clean, quiet, friendly and away from traffic. I'll definitely be back!

« Best Western Plus Plus! »

This's hotel lived up to their website photos and more. From the minute we checked in until our checkout the next morning this was a real treat. Staff were very friendly, especially Kayeand Barbara. The room was immaculate. Believe we were in one of the newly renovated rooms - great job. Great beds, fabulous tv, and the grounds were just beautiful. With the mountains as a beautiful backdrop the views were wonderful. They also redid their pool area. Lovely little touches all around the property making this place more than just a one night stop but a destination! We'll be back.

« Great location, Great service »

A typical motel with a not so typical family friendly ambiance. A super friendly staff. The grounds make for a pleasant atmosphere and the views are gorgeous. The location is perfect - close to town, expressway if you care to go to Asheville or a short skip over to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Smoky National Park.

    « rest amidst turmoil »

Instead of toughing it out when we had water problems at home, we stayed here. Older in structure, the motel is clean and quiet, ample in size, and a nice continental breakfast is offered. Barbara will welcome you at the front desk and make you feel like kin. The cleaning staff is very efficient.

This is one of my favorite places to stay, tucked on top of a hill with a gorgeous exterior and breathaking views. Sharply-dressed Pratik checked me in with unmatched warmth and professionalism. The room was clean, well-appointed, and comfortable. Fast internet, hot shower, cozy bed, big TV. This hotel is a great value - I'll definitely stay there again.

« Beware of the mice »

Stayed here a few months ago and had a great experience, so we decided to stay here again. It's a convenient location and much more affordable than hotels on the Blue Ridge Parkway or Asheville. This time we stayed there our experience wasn't so great. Around midnight my wife heard strange noises & woke me. We discovered some mice moved in! We called the front desk and they handled it well & moved us to another room. No mice that we were aware of until we awoke in the AM to find mice dropping all over the furniture.

    « Great choice »

We were pleasantly surprised by how nice this hotel was when we pulled off the highway and asked for a room with two queen beds. All of the staff were friendly and professional, and seemed to take pride in their jobs and the hotel. The room was very comfortable with a small bathroom but super shower. We couldn't get the bedside lamp to work and the desk clerk came up right away to fix it for us. The continental breakfast was okay. My least favorite part of the stay. Favorite part is the view and landscaping. Beautiful!

    5
    « Professional »

Very clean, well maintained and extremely helpful staff. Located on a hill above a car dealership but it is screened out and the views of the mountains are excellent. Would recommend. My only complain is the internet service but I have an older Ipad so it may be my problem rather than their server. Newly decorated and painted. Great value.

    4
    « Nice view »

This was a very nice hotel with a very friendly staff. Everyone who I dealt with went out of their way to deal with any issues that I had and the view from the balcony outside our room was breathtaking. The rooms were also very nice and are in the process of being upgraded on top of it. I would stay here again in a second.

    « A Good Place to Stay »

We stopped here coming from the Tail of the Dragon on our way to Sliding Rock. This is a nice comfortable motel with a pleasant and helpful staff. It is a little tricky to find but some key directions from the staff made it easy.

« Beautiful Grounds, Great Empolyees! »

Everything about the hotel was nice. Little places to sit and take in the scenery. Beautiful flowers all around. Nice room. Even a little bench outside our door to watch the world go by. I mentioned to a couple of the employees how nice the hotel was and they both said "thanks, it is a team effort". Teamwork has made this the nicest hotel we stayed in for our weekend trip to North Carolina!

    « Returned once again »

This is the 5th or 6th time we have stayed at Best Western Smoky Mountain Inn,I lost count. When I called to reserve a room I spoke to Debra and requested the same room that we had every year that we been there. We always call three months ahead and Debra made sure we had the room.We met her last year and she has always been friendly and helpful. We spoke to Jennifer quite a bit and she was also very friendly and helpful. We needed to have the tires on our car balance and she told us about a place that we could trust. She was right and with in a hour and a half we had the tires balance with a very reasonable price. This is and older motel but very well maintained. The outside and the grounds always look nice. They have added more tables and chairs for people to sit and relax out side. The rooms was always nice but they have upgraded with new carpet, lights, 39 inch tv"s microwave and many other things. When the new owners took over two years ago we wonder if they would keep the motel looking nice like Jay and the old owners did. Well they have and made a lot of improvements .All of the workers including maintenance and house keepers was very nice. Most of the time we will stay for four nights. Waynesville is a very nice to visit. And while we are there we will visit the other towns. We we stay in August we will drive to Burnsville NC. for their craft fair.We like a room on the second floor facing the mountains. If we return next year we will stay here again.

« Difficult to find but well worth the effort. »

This is a older hotel however the maintenance has kept it in excellent shape. We have generally found these BW hotels to be rather in need of updating. We interfaced with the day time maintenance man and desk girl, both were super with great attitudes and leaned over to make us comfortable. The hotel is hard to see from the main road but worth the search.

« Moderate priced property with great lights... »

We are in Waynesville for a couple of days visiting relatives and selected this place based on its location and positive reviews on TA. We arrived in Waynesville around 11:00 and went to lunch. I called the hotel and asked if an early check-in would be possible. Jennifer, at the front desk, asked me to call back at 13:00 and she would do her best to secure our category room. I called at 13:01 and she told me to come on over, they were waiting for us. Great customer service. We checked-in and were directed to room 234 on the back side of the property. The front side has nice mountain views and would be the preferred location, but we live on a mountain top in Tennessee and can forgo one night without a spectacular view. I was impressed upon entering our newly refurbished room with the excellent lighting. All table lamps were bright with additional good lighting in the bath area. The furniture appeared to be new with a large flat screen TV with high definition signal, medium size refrigerator and freezer, nice work area again with good lighting and electrical outlets for the our toys and a microwave oven. There was a nice welcome package that included two large bottled waters, cookies and microwave popcorn. The two queen beds were comfortable with an assortment of pillows to choose. The toilet bath area is a little on the small side, but the separate vanity and sink work well. The free WiFi is efficient with a download speed of 25Mbps and an up speed of 5Mbps. It handled all four of our devices running at the same time. The weak spot of this property is the included breakfast. The dining area is too small for this size property. You have your usual assortment of "continental" breakfast items with a waffle station attached. The orange juice was watered down. The wife decided to make some toast in the commercial toaster and set off the fire alarm. The attendant waved a towel in front of the sensor until the noise ceased. At least we were early enough so that there was not a major evacuation of the lobby. This is a nice property just off a major highway. The access to the hotel is a little tricky with a round-about prior to the entrance. If you have a good GPS you should have no problem. We will pick this place again if we have plans to spend the night in the Waynesville area. Our senior citizen rate was $116.00 for the night.

    5
    « Awesome staff...especially Jennifer! »

Newly remodeled rooms, friendly staff, all my requests were met except opening the breakfast area at 6:45am . . . it doesn't open until 7:00am . . . as a construction worker I am usually out the door working by then!

    « Love this hotel! »

This hotel is awesome! I stayed here for the triathlon in Lake Logan and I had my own parking space. Parking was a few steps out the door. Since I had a lot of stuff to unload, this was a huge convenience. I received a bag with 2 bottles of water, popcorn and cookies. The next day the items were replaced. Who does this?! The rooms were recently renovated. The shower has an adjustable shower head. The refrigerator has a freezer. The bed was comfortable and the scenery is beautiful. The hotel is next door to shopping and restaurants. It is a great hotel!

The good things first. Pet friendly. An excellent and friendly staff. Now for the not so good. Checked in and toilet would not flush. Moved to another room and the tub does not drain properly. Ankle deep in water before you can complete a shower. AC has to run on high to keep the room temperature comfortable, very noisy. We booked for 4 nights and will probably stay the entire time but I will not be staying here in the future.

    « WHAT A GREAT GETAWAY!!! »

The perfect location for a quite getaway. Everything we wanted to see and do was within close proximity of the resort. The staff was friendly and the place was very clean and kept serviced, even daily bottles of water, popcorn and cookies. Even though we had a lot planned for both trips, I could have enjoyed just hanging out, looking at the view, swinging in the swing and swimming in the pool. I will definitely stay here again.

The picture attached is the view from our room - overlooking the swimming pool and the mountains. The Best Western Smokey Mountain Inn in Waynesville is one of the nicest Best Westerns we have stayed in while on the road. Even tough this motel is older, it has been kept in excellent condition. The beds were very comfortable. Very nice landscaping surround the motel with sitting areas and picnic tables. The breakfast area is small, but the food was good and well presented.

The first thing l noticed when driving up to this BW was the immaculate grounds...well kept, lovely flowers and several benches scattered throughout the landscape. Our room was immaculate as well. Comfy beds, clean bathroom and plenty of linens. Like others have stated, you are so close to the town and its charming amenities, yet it's quiet and peaceful here. If you can, wake up early to view a beautiful Smoky Mountain sunrise...table and benches provided near the BW sign. Breakfast was satisfying and staff was helpful and friendly. Also loved the donkeys at the barn near the entrance and enjoyed watching the fat squirrels eating from the bird feeders! All in all, was a great experience here!

« The view from our room was beautiful. The hotel grounds are immaculate and landscaped throughout. »

The view of the smokey Mountains is spectacular! It is secluded from commercialism, yet close to everything! The breakfast choices are very satisfying. The surroundings are very serene. The staff is very friendly and accommodating! The rooms and the grounds are landscaped beautifully and are immaculate! I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

    « Hidden gem! »

We booked this mainly based on cost, as we were actually visiting Hendersonville. So glad we got to take a beautiful ride through Pisgah forest (Hwy 276) to Waynesville and this quaint motel with a gorgeous mountain view, away from the commercial strip. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff could not have been friendlier! Would give 5 stars, but that would falsely imply luxury. Basic value accomodations, done perfectly is the best description.

    5
« Outstanding - Helpful staff - Easy access - close to town »

The room was clean. The view was spectacular. The staff were tremendously helpful and friendly!! Close to Waynesville. Easy access to the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains scenic drive. The price was a tad high... But I guess you get what you pay for ????

« The Best Deal along I 40 in NC. »

Although we stayed for just one night passing through the area and have stayed at several other chains and B & B's in the area this Best Western will get our business again. Close to Waynesville and environs for exploring and ease of returning. It has just undergone refurbishing from the carpet to the mirrors. Buffet breakfast mostly carbs. We ate at the local restaurant across from WalMart. They will get a repeat visit too.

    « Great Little Treasure »

Clean, comfortable, friendly, convenient, quiet. A nice affordable place to stay for a weekend or a week. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Be sure to check out the donkeys at the bottom of the hill. WE stay here whenever in the area.

« Great Hotel in Smokey Mountains »

We've stayed at this hotel twice now and both times have been great! Staff is wonderful and the rooms are nice and clean. The property has a nice feel as they have it decorated nicely. They even leave you a little treat bag in your room. I highly recommend staying at this hotel!

    « Our 45th anniversary trip »

We were planning to stay in the waynesville nc area the fri and saturday before july 4. After checking several trip advisor reviews for this area, i was horrified at so many other hotels and lodges. The repeated complaints of nasty, outdated rooms and facilities and unfriendly and rude staff at these other places had me reluctant to book anywhere. But going on the good reviews of this Best Western, i took the chance. My only complaint was with taxes, etc our 2 night was $200 each night. I thought this was high since the night before we spent the night in asheville hotel indigo for about the same price. (Also they upgraded us to a 12th floor suite when they asked why were visiting. After telling them, we were given the suite upgrade complimentary). But this best western is everything the other reviews state. Beautiful grounds, with lots of flowers. Friendly staff of all we came in contact. Room was extremely clean and comfortable. Had a nice view of the mountains and pool etc. (im not sure but i dont think other side of inn would had the mt views our side did. The water and snacks were a nice room extra. The breakfast was continental style but generous in choices. They also were gracious when us late movers went past the 10 am time for breakfast. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.

« great location, beautiful view »

we weren't sure where we were going to stay for the night came across this town decided to stay very nice rooms and great view very friendly staff had rags in the lobby to clean off the motorcycles. I thought that was a nice touch. Had cookies and fresh coffee in the lobby. The rooms were nice and clean and they had a breakfast. Would stay here again.

    5
    « Extremely clean! »

This is one of the cleanest places we've stayed! Staff goes out of their way to make your stay the best! Bed was one of the most comfortable yet! Grounds are very kept and maintained. View of the mountains is incredible!

« Excellent lodging with mountain views »

This is a beautiful property that is immaculately kept. The room was spotless and even the grounds were a showplace. The amenities were plentiful; they even dropped off bottles of water and a bag of microwave popcorn after we checked in. There is an exercise room and a swimming pool next to the parking lot. The room had a refrigerator as well as microwave. We were able to park just outside the room. A continental breakfast was included, with apples, bagels, waffles, cereal, yogurt, pastries, coffee, tea, milk, orange juice, etc. It is just a couple of miles from Waynesville, one of our favorite small towns to visit and browse the many small shops. And of course it is the "Gateway to the Smokies", so Maggie Valley, Cherokee, and the Blue Ridge Parkway are nearby. The highest spot on the parkway is a few miles away heading toward Asheville (a most photographed spot). Motorcyclists will find a basket of cleaning rags in the lobby.

    « Short but Sweet »

This is a really nice place to stay. The grounds and building were very well maintained. All the staff we came in contact with was very friendly and helpful. We felt welcomed, comfortable and relaxed. A gift bag of water bottles, cookies and popcorn was brought to our door soon after we checked in. The room itself was spacious, nicely decorated and well-equipped. Plenty of towels! The location is great....outside of town on a hilltop with a wonderful view of the mountains. We paid a bit more than we usually do for a room, but the value was good and we would recommend it.

« Hilltop, mountain view, friendly, relaxing and flowers too :) »

The Best Western Smoky Mountain Inn is definitely one of our destination motels !! When we travel to the Blue Ridge Parkway or any place we might be visiting in this part of North Carolina we will always spend the night here. This is absolutely one of the prettiest, relaxing, comfortable hotels we have ever stayed in. It sits on a small hilltop overlooking the mountains, what a beautiful view plus the landscaping is wonderful, flowers everywhere. The hotel itself is very attractive with a second story balcony but you can park behind the motel and directly enter the second floor. The rooms are spacious and attractive, the beds are very comfortable. The hotel crew is great, everyone is very friendly and considerate. The only thing I would like to see improved on is the breakfast, it is typical continental but it's still good. I give them an A+ all-around !!

    5
« Newly renovated and excellent staff »

this is an older style motel, but very recently renovated. Rooms are decorated nice, bath fixtures are new and very clean. I travel a lot and slept the best at this hotel I have slept in 6 months. Pillows were great. Not too fluffy, just right. Breakfast bar was all carbs. Doughnuts, breads, waffles. Wish they had eggs and bacon. They had yogurt and boiled eggs in the fridge, but not what I wanted. Overall I liked it and will stay there many more times.

    5
« Excellent choice in Waynesville »

This pretty property sits high on a hill overlooking mountains and valley. It is two story with outdoor corridors, but parking is on both the upper and lower levels, so you don't have to use stairs. There is no elevator. Our room with two queens was large and included a refrigerator and microwave. Mattresses were excellent. Breakfast is included, and was adequate. The hotel staff was very accommodating and pleasant.

    5
    « Clean and Beautiful »

I stayed with friends at this hotel for a ladies conference. It is a beautiful setting with awesome views of the mountains. It was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Very close to downtown Waynesville and Lake Junaluska. Don't miss a walk around the lake.

    5
    « Wow »

The price was over the top but the accommodations were superb. The room was so clean I could almost hear it squeak. The grounds were emmaculate. Maybe we could have found a better price but we stopped in for the night traveling to Myrtle Beach. The clerks were nice and genuinely friendly.

    « Best hotel ever »

This hotel is nestled into the prettiest spot you can imagine in the smoky mountains. It is located off the beaten path but within a few minutes of shopping and restaurants. The grounds are beautiful and every detail of the property inside and out is perfectly maintained. I travel a lot for work and am so tired of the cookie cutter hotels with their high priced "from the market" snacks and their everything the same mentality. The Best Western in Waynesville is a refreshing change. I couldn't have been more pleased with everything about it!!

« Attention to every detail! »

We were impressed by this high end Best Western in Waynesville. The staff was super friendly and helpful at every encounter. The entire hotel was quiet, spotless, and maintained. We were given a king room with an amazing view and every detail was covered. I was especially grateful for the freezer, fridge and microwave combo in the room. It was most helpful for a 3 day stay. The breakfast buffet was delightful and although we didn't get a chance to swim in the pool it appeared to be well maintained and pristine. The bed was very comfortable and the decor was excellent. This hotel felt like a home in the midst of the Smokies. I would highly recommend it!

« Peace and Tranquility in the Great Smoky Mountains »

If you want to stay at a motel with a gorgeous view, then the Best Western in Waynesville, NC is the place. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, the rooms clean, staff is courteous, and the view is magnificent. Give it a try!

    « The most equisite hotel !! »

The cleanest most up to date hotel with the friendliest and caring staff one could ever wish for. Every square inch of the property was well manicured - it's as if the parking lot had been vacuumed!! The room was perfect - extremely comfortable, exquisite, super clean, high end shower head and shower, giant flat screen tv, etc etc. We stayed at 5 hotels this week and the Best Western Smoky Mountain Inn was the most superior by a long shot.

    « Family visit »

The hotel was a very convenient location for our weekend visit. The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. I liked the new decor. My husband and I enjoyed the breakfast and coffee provided.

    « Vacation stay »

Great place to stay! Clean and quiet. Staff very personable and friendly. Breakfast too. Right off I-74 beautiful view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Will stay there again when traveling. On the way to Asheville or visiting Biltmore estates.

    « Mini vac »

One of the better motels we have stayed in. It was a cheap price and a extra nice motel, the out side was well kept with a nice view, the inside was nice and neat as well as being clean, there was 2 bottles of water popcorn cookies sitting on the counter waiting for us. We are going back to the smokies around July and that will be the place I am staying. Walmart and restaurants within a half mile and the staff was very much helpful.... Thank you Best Western of the Smokies!

    « A biker's dream motel »

Stay at this place you will not be disappointed. Close to all the great rides. Close to fuel and dining. Staff is outstanding, friendly and courteous. Rooms are large and are spotless. Breakfast is way better than average. Good assortment of pastry, cereals, waffles unlimited coffee and cookies 24 hours a day.

    « Awesome Mountain Hotel »

Great location close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and terrific staff. Nice comfortable rooms and great service. Good parking and good location to local restaurants. Well worth the price of admission. Top of the list as far as Best Western hotels go.

    5
    « Just right »

I cannot criticize anything with our stay. We did not eat breakfast here so I cannot comment on that. The price was right, the room was clean, everything functioned, the bed was comfortable, and it was quiet and all the staff we encountered was friendly and helpful. What more can one ask for?

    5
« You must stay here!!! »

Stayed here with a group of motorcyclists from Michigan for six days. The manager Pratik and all his staff are some of the nicest people My wife and I have countered on any trip .They are in the process of remodeling the exterior the rooms have been completed and have HUGE flat screen TV's . If in this area you must stay here you will not regret it.

  • 3
« Nice place... but they have difficulty with room selection »

This is the second time I have been put on the second floor after requesting a first floor room this is important because traveling by motorcycle it's nice to be near your motorcycle plus not to have to carry all the gear upstairs to your room. Roads are decent cut little breakfast is a little above average staff generally friendly.

    5
« Very nice remodeled motel »

The rooms are nicely redone but the breakfast area is really small. We stayed one night while traveling through the area. We plan to return in June. The best place to eat is at Bogarts, reasonable prices and good service. We ate dinner and lunch the next day.

    4
« These folks go the extra mile »

This is a very clean motel with a magnificent view of the mountains. A very courteous clerk checked us in and gave good directions to local destinations. In our room was a gift bag containing bottled water, popcorn and cookies. It was a nice surprise, but we were even more impressed when the used items were replaced on our second night. The staff was very accommodating. There was an adequate breakfast, but the room was a bit small and the microwave and toaster tripped a circuit when used at the same time, so one star off for that. This is a very good motel.

    « What a Relief! »

After starting out from Louisville, KY in early p.m. on way home to FL, I knew I wouldn't get that far. I had stayed at this BW before and loved it! I called from I-40 to see if they had a room (many hotels were full--weekend and graduation--)but a lovely girl said they did and she would save a room for me. It was dusk when I got there (a few miles out of my way) and the hotel actually honored my Gold Card points. It is such a pretty setting and the landscaping is beautiful. I'm looking forward to my next visit with such nice people..

    4
    « Good Experience »

The staff was caring and even called to make sure the room was satisfactory. Offered assistance to any needs that I may have. There was some construction, but it is posted that they are in the midst of renovation. Very quiet and peaceful. There also was a complimentary gift bag of "goodies" waiting in the room upon arrival.

    5
    « Beautiful Setting. »

This little native stone gem is tucked into the mountains like a welcoming oasis. Angie checked me in quickly and warmly, the room was comfortably and amply appointed, the view was glorious, the internet was fast & reliable, the shower was hot and strong, the bed was restful. I liked my stay - I'll stay there again if I'm back in beautiful Waynesville.

    4
« A nice find near hiking areas. »

Very nice and clean. A nice drive down Blue Ridge Parkway to Black Balsam Knob hiking area. Staff very courteous. Breakfast was continental and not as abundant as other Best Western's we've stayed at. However, a nice touch of complimentary bottled waters, popcorn and cookies in a goody bag welcomed us in the room.

« Pleasing one night stay in the Mountains »

This hotel is very nice, clean and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They are in the process of a major renovation to the property. Already have new bathroom showers (very nice) and new paint in rooms. To come is new room furniture, fixtures, and carpets as well as renovations to the pool area, new paving all around the hotel area, and new outside lighting. The location is up on a hill with very nice views of the mountains all around. Beds were comfortable. Reasonable rates for mountain resort area lodging. Easy access to various mountain attractions as well as Asheville, which is approximately 30 miles away. Only real negative I saw is that rooms open to the parking lot (ground floor) or facing parking lot (second floor). However, this is prevalent in most motel accommodations in the area and is not a major problem. Air and Heat is somewhat noisy but it helps hide any outside noise so not bad trade-off. One more bonus is rooms come with microwave and refrigerator/freezer--handy for keeping traveling goodies/water/etc. fresh.

« Amazing place to stay for wedding »

This is by far the best place to stay in Waynesville. The amazing view coupled with great rates make for a wonderful experience. And it's very easy to navigate to and from. My wife and I as well as our entire wedding party stayed here in March and we couldn't have asked for a better experience with comfortable beds, friendly staff, and there's an awesome hiking trail/beautiful hill behind the place for you to enjoy!

    « Great Hotel »

We stayed here this weekend, while visiting my aunt! The hotel is in a great location, the staff is above and beyond. The breakfast is wonderful, and the rooms were really clean! I give it two thumbs up!

    « Very Nice Motel »

We spent one night at this motel and were very pleasantly surprised. We had a king room which was very neat and clean. Although it was not high priced it had all we needed to make a pleasant stay. The microwave, refrigerator and television seemed pretty new. There was a sofa in the room also. The bed was comfortable. We even had a little welcome bag with cookies, water and popcorn for the microwave. The motel was easy to get to, well located and had beautiful views. The breakfast was very good with good variety. An exercise room is coming soon. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. All around good experience. We will definitely stay there again.

    « Blue Ridge Heaven »

The location of this property was so convenient to all the services we needed and only minutes from where my son and his family lives. The primary reason for this stay was to spend time with the family and their 16 month daughter. The property was excellent in every way.

    4
« Clean rooms, beautiful view - but don't bug the guests »

I've stayed here several times visiting family and have always given this inn five stars. However, a couple of things legitimately bugged me this visit. #1 It's bad form to call vacationing folks at 9am, waking them up to ask what kind cleaning service they'd like for their room. This is a small hotel, without elaborate amenities, so that call is a wee bit annoying and quite silly. Making things convenient for their staff should be secondary to leaving their guests be. #2 A gap between the door and the frame let cigarette smoke in from the smoking-allowed benches....and, in the winter, would be quite cold. The noise from the heater/air conditioner is overwhelming.

    5
    « AMAZING stay!!!! »

My boyfriend and I chose to stay here as a long weekend getaway and it was beyond perfect. Jennifer at the front desk was beyond helpful and friendly and made our stay great! We asked for housekeeping service each day we stayed and were very pleased with how clean it was! The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of space in the room to enjoy ourselves. We enjoyed the hill area behind the hotel just going to sit and look at the beautiful mountains, as well as looking at the mountains from our front door! The swing bench was also great for just relaxing. Waterfalls are all less than an hour away, which is no problem because the drive to see them is beautiful. Jennifer recommended Bogart's restaurant for dinner and we ate there twice during our stay. The coffee service was awesome and we drank some daily. We will be coming back most definitely we loved it at the best western smoky mountain inn!

    « Wow ... First Impressions! »

This review may be premature but I choose to think not. Drove from Florida to the Smoky Mountains with no lodging arrangements. Hit up the faithful "Trip Advisor" and located this hotel. WOW! The staff was hospitable and accommodating. Entered the room and it was clean and had exceptional amenities. The reason this was a welcomed surprise is because I have been a loyal Hilton Honors VIP member for almost 13 years. I have never stayed anywhere else. Best Western, I am thoroughly impressed and look forward to a wonderful week while visiting the park and surrounding sites!

    « Another Good Stay »

My husband and I spent 2 pleasant nights at this motel in Waynesville. We have stayed here on at least 5 other occasions and always find it clean, pleasant and convenient. From time to time, we have business in the area and also visit elderly family members who live nearby. Our one concern is that the smoking area was directly under our second story room and sometimes the smoke drifted up to the walkway above. We noticed that many of the employees smoked.

    4
    « Very pleased »

Easy access to this hotel. The staff was very courteous and the room was fresh and clean. Far exceeded my expectations for the price!!! The bed was comfortable and the shower was great - rainfall head Will definitely stop again when in the area

    5
    « Outstanding »

When you walk in you see the donkeys and rabbits. Nice! After checking in and going to the room you think the room is going to be "cheap looking". The layout is as a Motel, but once you get inside you are surprised by a very spacious room and very, very clean!!! Great view of the mountains and really friendly staff at the desk. Thats exactly what we love: a quiet, comfortable, clean place to relax! Thanks!

    « Great Hotel »

This hotel was excellent. The rooms were clean, quiet, and comfortable. I was very surprised at how quiet the room was being it was an outside room. The staff was very friendly and the maintenance supervisor asked every day if my room was ok.

    « Great Simple Affordable »

Have stayed here many times over the last 5 years and each time has been very nice. Not a fancy hotel, but clean with friendly and helpful staff. Recently renovated and very nice new décor. Good breakfast options as well. Highly recommend for great and affordable stays. View of the mountains is nice as are the donkeys at the farm as you turn onto the drive to the hotel

« A great choice in the Smokies »

We stayed there en route to Asheville -- it is very close to Cataloochee Ski area/Maggie Valley, to Asheville, to Smoky Mountain NP, and to white-water rafting venues in the mountains. Centrally-located & newly renovated, this Inn has great views and a warm welcoming staff. We will definitely be going back there -- great value.

« 1 Night Stay for WCU open house »

Nice place to stay for 1 night. Lots of improvements going on with breakfast, hope that improves, very clean. Felt very safe even though it's a motor lodge style Inn. Room was well appointed lots of hot water for long showers. We will stay here again I'm sure. Scenery is wonderful!!

    « A good choice in Waynesville »

We stayed here for 3 nights and were very pleased with our choice. It was reasonably priced and in a wonderful, quiet location with a view of the mountains. The people were especially friendly there and made us feel so welcome. The room was clean and very comfortable. Beds were great and the TV was huge for a motel room. I like having the sink outside of the bathroom as it makes it easier getting ready. And I still like being able to park right in front of your room. You do have to walk outside to get to the breakfast area though. The breakfast was average, nothing special. We would definitely stay here again.

    5
    « Over Night Visit »

While visiting my son we stayed the night at the local best Western. I like the chain so I tend to stick with them when I travel. In Waynesville they are currently doing some updating and I'm good with that. A good business should keep their rooms fresh and up to date. It was in a good location. Close to food and shopping. We had a wonderful view of the mountains. I would stay there again.

    « under renovation »

waynesville was a nice surprise. we stayed here during a ski trip to maggie valley. it is only 10-15 minute drive to chataloocee ski area. i actually preferred staying here to maggie valley. there are more choices to eat and less crowds. the hotel was very clean. aside from the renovation of the breakfast area that we were not aware of we enjoyed our stay. if this hotel had a hot tub it would be even better.

    5
« Nice staff, very nice room, excellent view! »

We had a great stay. The room was very nice and impeccably clean! Breakfast was okay, the room it was in was very cramped. I believe they are remodeling the normal breakfast space. The only issue we had was the iron leaked water on our clothes as we ironed. We would definitely stay here again!

    « Nice Stay... »

Traveled to Waynesville area over week-end always try to stay at Best Westerns just always find them to be pretty close to the reviews and good value, clean, safe etc.... this property was no different friendly, clean , bed was comfy (could use another blanket) but overall really nice place... two things that I did have an issue with was the doors open to outside and our room the door had to be slammed to shut tight... (2 women traveling alone) so had to be careful that the door was truly closed. The other was the breakfast area was being remodeled? So they are set up in a room..needless to say 8 people at a time was a squeeze. Not impressed with the food either. Most have biscuits and gravy at least...just sausage that you had to nuke and boiled eggs ;-( Disappointing.....

    « Always a nice stay. »

We have stayed here several times as we travel to Chapel Hill. NC for family visit. We have never been disappointed. We like the location. We always eat at Beaurgards nearby. The cookies and bottled water in the room are nice to have. We're anxious for the new breakfast area to be completed.

    « Pretty location »

Reasonable rate, clean room, comfortable beds and a nice touch a bag with 2 bottles of water, a cookie and a bag of popcorn. Mountains were really pretty around area. Hotel was close to highway and also to downtown Waynesville with a lot of eating places available. Outside grounds were also pretty.

    « Nice Motel! »

This is your typical "motel"! Clean, quiet, and fine for one night! No real frills....parking outside your room is a plus for unloading. Front desk personnel were very friendly! Breakfast was included, but room was small and very crowded....so we opted not to partake!

« The absolute best for those on a budget. »

I visit Waynesville several times a year and each time I reserve a room at Best Western Smoky Mountain Inn. The staff while checking in is always prompt, helpful, and very knowledgeable of the area and various to-do's in and around town. Along with the exceptional maid service, I really enjoy the bags left in each room, which have water bottles, cookies, and even popcorn! Last but not least, the view from the room windows, as well as from the doors, is always the best, with an amazing view of the mountains.

Second time staying at this hotel! Newly remodeled hotel. Beautiful appearance of the room. Extremely comfortable beds!! Good breakfast included in the stay. Very friendly staff (from the check-in to the breakfast attendant). Beautiful view of the mountains! Felt extremely safe staying at this hotel. My adult daughter and I look forward to staying in this hotel again when we visit Waynesville NC in December of 2016!

« Comfortable, friendly place in the beautiful Smokies »

Stayed here in late September 2015 with a friend at the start of a weeklong bicycle trip across North Carolina. Staff were all very friendly, and accommodated our needs the right way. Coffee maker and fridge in the room were nice touches. The setting in Waynesville in the Smoky Mountains is green and beautiful. Relaxing place.

« Highly Recommend this location »

I took my granddaughter and niece to the Polar Express in Bryson City on a Friday evening. I was looking for a reasonably priced (and clean) place to stay between Bryson City and Asheville after the train ride. After researching prices, locations, and reviews, I decided to stay at this Best Western location. The price was excellent, which sometimes makes you wonder what the place looks like. I am very happy to say that this place was extremely clean and in a very quiet location that was easy to get to from the Interstate. The staff, at check-in and check-out, were very friendly and extrememly helpful. The room felt very fresh and clean, with a small refrigerator and coffee pot, and the beds were very comfortable. The view the next morning was breathtaking! I can't say enough positive things about this location and I highly recommend it!!

    5
    « Excellant lodging »

I found this motel clean, comfortable and quit. Rooms have frig, coffee pot and microwave and they even provided popcorn. The breakfast was fair to good. The usual pastries, bagels waffles, fruit, coffee, milk, yogurt, etc. All in all a good experience.

    « Waynesville North »

One night stay in Waynesville to attend an event in Ashville wanted to stay south of Ashville away from the city. Easy access to the highway and quiet mountain setting. Good service and clean room. Full breakfast available in lobby was good with a variety of choices. Will consider on next trip in North Carolina.

    4
« Nice views, clean, comfortable »

Very nice location that sits on top of a hill and has lovely views of the surrounding country. Older property that is well maintained and has been remodeled. Outside entrances to the rooms circa 1960-70 motels. Staff was very friendly and the beds were quite comfortable. Rated only a 4 instead of a 5 because we were a bit miffed to find that we paid a group rate of $139 per night for a wedding we attended. We were looking for rooms near Asheville for the next night and up popped this Best Western for only $81 per night. (We paid more to stay elsewhere!) So we feel that everyone that paid the "group" rate for the weekend got fleeced a bit compared to the price available for that time of year!

    « Beautiful Sunrise »

The hotel sits on the side of a hill overlooking a small valley. The view of the sunrise was excellent. There were some very good restaurants in the small town and easy access to shopping. Location was great with a short trip to the Great Smokey Mountains and a very scenic drive to Cherokee North Carolina. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. They were renovating the hotel but the room where we stayed was freshly painted and the appliances were new. The only downside to the entire experience was the potholes in the road leading to the hotel and in front of the office but I understand they will be resurfacing that soon. I would stay here again.

    « Clean and scenic »

This is a small motel tucked away in the mountains, very scenic setting. We stayed for just one night but it was great. Very clean, friendly and helpful staff, good wi-fi service, and modest breakfast included. Would definitely recommend this place. Note that they are currently undergoing some renovations (Nov 2015) but they seem to be making an effort to minimize disruptions and noise.

« Clean and comfortable. Great Views! »

I enjoyed my two-night stay here, even though it was raining! It was an easy drive to Biltmore and Asheville. If you are a non-smoker, make sure to request a room that has always been non-smoking. Recent renovations have converted smoking rooms to non-smoking and there is still a strong residual old smoke smell (I had to leave Rm 235). After I was moved to Rm 217, I had a pleasant stay. Wi-fi was very good.

« The view is great. It's a great location near the highway.Clean&Comfy »

It did not 'smell' like other hotels. You know what I mean. They did not use the same disgusting smelling cleanings as most chain hotels. Wi-fi was including and worked very well. The TV had more channels than most others. There is a microwave and small refrig. Table and chairs. I was there in late October, 2015, so the pool was closed. People were very friendly. It's not cheap, but if you want comfort go for it. AARP rate is honered, but check on line also before you call directly. There is super Walmart very close (within a mile). The town is about 5 miles. Waynesville is a quaint town with interesting shops. People from Asheville visit on weekends or extend stays. The woodshops, art shops are some of the best I've seen. When I was there I saw many species of birds around the hotel. There is a path uphill which you can hike. But I saw most of the birds in front and side of the hotel.

« Best Western Smoky Mountain »

We had a very pleasant and comfortable stay here. As we were house-hunting, this was a great and convenient location for our downtown agent in Waynesville. Motel staff were very pleasant and helpful and we had a very comfortable room. No complaints at all, had a very pleasant stay.

« Booked it based on advice from Trip Advisor. You are right on track »

Although this is an older motel, it had nice updates in the rooms. New carpet, comfortable well dressed beds, breakfast was a bit sparse but there isn't much room in the dining area. The attendant said they were getting ready to update and enlarge the area which will be helpful.

    « Smokey Mountain Gem!! »

We were looking for a small clean place where we could back up to the door and feel cozy inside. This place was much more than we asked for - immaculate, friendly, helpful, with perfectly groomed grounds and quaint decorations for the season. We will recommend this place to anyone traveling through the Smokies and all the great little nearby towns!! Kudos to the owner and staff for making this such a great place to stay!!

    « Wonderful! »

This was an amazing place to stay. Arriving in our room, we found a bag with water bottles, delicious cookies, and popcorn for the microwave. The view from our window was amazing! The room was spacious, clean, and the beds were really comfortable...good price too. Will definitely stay again.

« Scenic location, nice rooms »

The location cannot be beat ; nestled in the Smokies, the views are great. Just a few minutes to Waynesville which has a great small town vibe and a vibrant food scene. The rooms are large with comfortable beds; our rooms were very clean. The staff were all friendly. The breakfast was a very basic continental in a cramped breakfast room. The motels undergoing renovations which includes fresh paint, new carpet, new furniture, and an expanded breakfast area. They had placed goody bag in our rooms in case we were inconvenienced by the renovations which we were not. WiFi worked well. Great location, good value we couldn't have asked for more.

« Restful and acommodating, close to everything around Waynesville »

Love the area, love the people, love this hotel, love the landscaping, love the mountains, love the weather, whats not to love? I have been coming to this hotel since 2006, to watch the scenery and the mountains the change of colors to the leaves, (even though not every year the colors change is spectacular, but some years it has been spectacular!) and the hotel has been improving every year. I love some restaurants and some stores! and I love the feel of Waynesville! I would love to have a log cabin around here!

« Stay once and you want to RETURN »

This is the fifth time we have stayed at the Best Western Smoky Mountain Inn. We have never been disappointed . We do reserve a room about three months in advance because we want a certain room on the second floor with a mountain view.We have never had a problem with our request.Karen who worked the front desk had retired this pass year and now we have Deb who was very nice and helpful. Our room was a king bed room and had plenty of room. The room was clean and each day they would clean the room. It had a table with two chairs. The a/c was making a loud noise at times and the next day Ron the maintenance man fixed the problem and there was no loud noise the next three nights. The hotel , building and grounds WAS VERY WELL MAINTAINED.The hotel is away from the highway and we did not hear and road noise. We have check other places to stay in Waynesville but we always come back to Smoky Mountain Inn.This is a good location to visit the area.

« Tasteful, great service and value »

This hotel has a great view and tastefully done outside and in. The service is excellent and a great value for your money. Quiet and a nice mountain view. The breakfast has a good selection. The towels are thick, bed super comfy, large wide screen TV and plenty of room in the room with a table to eat at. Convenient location and you can't hear the traffic from the street.

« Spacious, clean room close to shopping mall and restaurants. »

Old fashioned park outside your door motel except it is totally updated. Most newer hotels only give you one luggage rack - here you get two. Plenty of drawer space. Table and two chairs with complimentary water, cookies and microwave popcorn.

    « Noisy/Run Down »

When I arrived at the Best Western there wasn't a clear sign of where the office was to check in. There was a walk in ahead of me and while he wasn't an AAA or AARP member was given that rate but with two beds. He got the same rate I had for my room booked in February for one bed. The motel is run down and dumpy. I had read about views of the mountain views but the side they put me on had no view. This is a motel so the doors are outside and not as secure as hotels with interior doors. The motel did provide two water bottles, a package of two cookies and a bag of microwave popcorn. So that was a nice touch. The room was very dusty so it must not have been cleaned for a while or they do a poor job at it. One of the pillows on the bed was also dirty. The sink is on the outside of the bathroom area and is in the room. There was a smaller sized flatscreen with cable. There was also free wifi. Besides being run down and not being properly maintained, the real issue at this motel is the noise. So this is a huge problem if you planned on staying here to sleep. The room next to mine I think were watching a sporting event as I could hear every word they said; every sneeze and every cough. When I checked out, the clerk tried to tell me that there is a noise problem with all hotels which is not true at all, there are just problems at the poor quality ones. If sleep is important to you, find somewhere else to stay.

    « Great Stay! »

My husband and I chose this hotel because of the view of the mountains and the comfort of the room and especially the beds. They were so comfortable! The room was very neat and clean also. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. This hotel is very convenient to downtown Waynesville, NC which is a very popular tourist attraction. Great Stay!

« Smoky Mountains in the Fall »

Nice hotel but very pricey for an average at best facility. Stop over on Harley fall ride in the Smokys, this Harley friendly hotel is old but they are in the process of renovating the rooms. Nice furniture and bathrooms have been updated. Towels were awesome and the shower head was great with good pressure A Managers letter in the rm stated they are replacing carpet next. Breakfast area is small and the selection is standard fare for BW. I probably would stay here again but not during the pricey season,

    « Enjoy the mountains »

The motel is being remodeled and the room we had was basically a new room. It was odor free and clean. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was good. The view from our room looking over the mountain was fantastic.

« VERY GOOD PLACE TO STAY, CLEAN CONVENIENT! »

Located on exit 98 of rt19/23 it is just a right turn and you're there. also, convenient to I-40. Right down the street is a gas station and stores and restaurants are within a 2/3 range with a 24 hour Huddle house right close by. The room was clean with 2 comp. bottles of water, cookies and microwave popcorn. Breakfast was good, not a lot of hot food (waffles), but bananas/apples, cereal, donuts and the like. I would stay there again. happy trails

« Nice Hotel with Great View »

I picked this hotel online for being close to the areas I wanted to visit. It is central to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Great Smoky Mountain NP, and Maggie Valley. Asheville and Cherokee Casino are not too far away either. The room was clean and nice. The view from the second floor of the nearby hills was also very nice. And, having a bench to sit on just outside the room was a great plus. The hotel is behind a Chevrolet dealership, but it did not deter from the view or ambiance. Breakfast was adequate to start the day, but, the eating area was a bit small if more than 8 people were there together. The only semi-negative aspect, if there is one, was that 2 of the 3 the front desk staff did not seem too friendly. The exception was the clerk who was at checkout on Friday. She was what you expect in customer service. Sorry, I didn't get her name.

Newly renovated so the room was fresh and clean. Staff is very pleasant and helpful. Just a short drive to downtown Waynesville and close to restaurants and shopping. We will be staying again in just a few weeks.

    « Nice basic stay »

Although I don't normally stay in Best Westerns, this was a pleasant experience. Check in was efficient and friendly, and the room was clean and well appointed. Because they were in the process of remodeling (nothing affecting my stay), a gift bag with bottles of water, cookies and popcorn was left on the table in my room. A very nice touch. The room included a nice sized refrigerator and a microwave, as well as better than average toiletries. The walls were quite thin, however, making me happy that my neighbors were relatively quiet. If I were ever back in the Waynesville area I would certainly not hesitate to stay here again. The room included

« Nice surprise after a long motor cycle ride »

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Was not expecting such a clean room with a great view of the mountains. Great grounds to walk around and relax. The check-in staff was very nice and gave us a complimentary microwave popcorn and two bottles of water. There are two floors to the hotel and you can drive around back and enter rooms in the front via a breeze-way - you don't even have to climb the stairs to second floor this way. We came to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway and this hotel is only about 5 miles to the entrance. There also is a Walmart really close to the hotel. Pizza Hut delivers to this hotel. We definitely will stay here again.

    « Excellent »

Since our last stay at this hotel it has been upgraded so our room was newly decorated and furnished. Our previous experience was great so this one was even better. The rooms are large and the refurbished bathroom with a "rainfall" shower was also a match for everything else. There was a refrigerator and microwave, fairly standard now, but this one had a separate highly efficient freezer - very good if you are staying for a few days. A really nice touch was a bag with two bottles of water, a large pack of cookies and microwave popcorn which was left in the room. The breakfast which was excellent was served in a very pleasant dining room. The manager and all of the staff were great, very welcoming and helpful. For some reason " the system" queried our identity and when we left we had to sign four forms to guarantee that we would pay for our room if some "third party" should have paid for it and did not - despite the fact that we had already paid for the room beforehand! This was disconcerting (having our identity queried) and has never happened before in any hotel in the USA and Europe! However it in no way put us off staying here again, we definitely will - this is just for information should "the system" query your identity when you check in!
