We were so pleasantly surprised, this hotel was very clean, comfy and the staff was kind, polite and helpful. We checked in late in the evening and the night front desk gal was so nice and very welcoming. The room was very clean, updated and the bed had nice clean linens. The morning breakfast was perfect. They served hot food, eggs, sausage, waffles. Fruit and bread with good coffee just mention a few things. I'd stay here again. The room was quiet, hot water for showers. It was a great place to stay. Thank you for taking care of us!
Security is LACKING! Side door to this hotel does not lock. Numerous people who do not appear to be guest were sitting on the benches outside the rooms and were sleeping for hours. Some even came inside and slept in the chairs in the additional seating areas. Breakfast was awful. Standard hotel breakfast with rubber sausage, fake eggs, waffles, etc. Not the best stay, not the worst but will be going elsewhere next time.
I was Extremely satisfied with quality, of this hotel. We enjoyed comfortable beds, pleasant staff, value, clean rooms, updated Decor. Nice breakfast. Used the in-room mini frig which was very spacious. I'd definitely use this location in the future.
While I had a few minor issues this is a great hotel It was easy to find and to get in and out of, and their was ample parking. (At least during a weekday. Check in was easy and the clerk was very nice. I did have an issue with 1 key that would not work. The room was nice and clean and the bed was comfy. I didn't smell any smoke or overuse of cleaning chemicals. I can't think of anything bad to say about the state of the room. After a long drive I wanted to take a relaxing bath but the drain didn't fully close. The bathtub also creaked getting in and out. I forgot to mention this at checkout. The breakfast was pretty standard. Waffles, eggs, sausage, bagels, cereal, with coffee milk and juice. The dining room was clean and the food was better then average but nothing to write home about. I didn't check the pool area or gym so I can't comment on them. I would stay here again the next time I have to be in the area overnight. I would rate this at 4.5 stars
After walking out of the Quality Inn and losing two nights pay without staying (I'll sleep in my car before sleeping at the QI)t my wife and I checked in the Best Western. This place was fantastic. Clean, curteous staff, clean hotel room, great hot morning breakfast. We will definitely be back.
The staff are friendly, knowledgeable of the area, helpful, and professional. Breakfast was excellent! There were a variety of choices, even fresh fruit. I noticed that breakfast was maintained by two people who were extremely efficient and nothing was ever out. They even came out with smiles. The food service is definitely to be commended. Our room was quiet, clean, and comfortable. We recommend this hotel.
I was surprised how nice the hotel was. The room i had was excellent. Updated and very clean The staff was really friendly and helpful. Location is great. Within 2 minutes of downtown Gaylord via car. Breakfast offered in the morning was very good. Nice gym that had newer equipment and the pool area was nice and clean. Comfortable pool temperature. I will stay here again my next trip to Gaylord.
Nice hotel. Had a big room that fit 10 of us. We forgot our fudge in the fridge and they kept it for us for over a week u til we came back through. Absolutely awesome customer service. Loved the kitchen and bathroom as well, and the huge space. Just a great experience.
Clean. Remodeled. Spacious bathroom with new fixtures. Tv had 100 stations. Price was 70 better than any other motel in area
We had to change rooms immediately due to the room smelling strongly if tobacco smoke. We got a different room immediately and it smelled almost as badly. The breakfast was terrible and very minimal selection. The pool room was over chlorinated and just being inside by the pool, the fumes burned my eyes without even getting in the water. The floor was sl excessively slippery, i was scared to allow my kids to walk around the pool. The only positive was the staff was very friendly
Room was very clean. Everything worked. Bug TV lots of channels. Quick check in. Easy access to hotel, stores, restaurants. Even though full capacity, it was quiet.
Clean, friendly, comfortable. Best Western Hotels have not let me down, which is why I keep coming back.
Would highly recommend this hotel. Great location, clean well maintained. Friendly staff, rooms clean nice pool and breakfast.
Fabulous stay as always, my home away from home. Friendly faces, clean rooms, and public spaces and thee most comfortable beds
Very clean rooms Pool was very nice pool room is warm enough to go from pool to hot tub The breakfast was amazing.. Motel is close to Shopping And dining In the area.
We received prompt and accurate check in. Option for adjoining room was offered, although we had not requested. Because we arrived at dinner time and left immediately following breakfast, we did not get to use the pool nor fitness center. We reserved at this hotel because they did offer these amenities. I did check them out simply to give feedback to potential future guests. Pool is not huge, but did offer some length and depth for the lap swimmers:)
I loved my room, it was quiet, peaceful, clean and I loved the tub! It was the size of a 4 person hot tub, just not as deep but if filled quickly with plenty of hot water. It was a great place to get away.
We love this location. It has been extremely accommodating for us over the last 2 years. Friendly staff and great service. It is not a double 5 star hotel, but an overall “A” for convenience. We definitely will need this quality location as an option for the next several years.
Room recked of cigarette smoke smell. Especially in the bathroom. Made my pregnant fiancé nauseous the whole time. Was unfortunate that the front desk didn't do anything about it. Was okay stay other then that.
Nice very clean hotel. Right off I75 lots of restaurants and shopping close . Friendly staff and great value for the money. Nice fitness room pool and hot tub. Room was clean and smelling clean. Never a problem with other guests. Thanks
Not sure why this is listed as a 2 star but my husband and I LOVED it. I would give it a 4.5 due to hot tub being out of order and nothing saying that until next day. I had chose this specifically for the hot tub to relax. But the front desk girl had not been told it was out of order. We were at dinner when she tried to contact us. Later when I noticed it, she upgraded us, for free, to a jacuzzi room. OMG it was heaven. Big enough for both my husband and myself. We were in there for like an hour. I have fibromyalgia but that jacuzzi tub relaxed my muscles very good. We also utilized the excersize room for about 30 minutes and that was clean and easy to use also. Both rooms had soft clean beds, were nice and clean, great breakfast (for him I was having surgery next day). There is a gas station next door that we heard maybe a few times during the evening when trucks fueled up but nothing major. My only 'complaints' were minor. We could not adjust the heat on the wall unit but went to the one under the window. Plus the curtains billowed up when the fan was blowing. (I fixed it by putting the suitcase holder against it.) Also no vent fans in the bathroom. The downstairs had a little snack shelf where you could buy them. The lobby was nice and decorated for Christmas. We may drive over again just for that little get-away that we had.
Our room was clean, it was quiet, staff was friendly and helpful, and the hot tub and pool were very relaxing. What else could you ask for? The location is close to several restaurants and big name stores. You could even walk to them if you wanted to. So glad we picked this place for our stay.
This is a basic average hotel that provides adequate accommodations convenient for travelers in the Gaylord area. It's bland…basic brown decor. The breakfast buffet is typical. There are chain restaurants nearby, but I'd recommend that you drive the short distance to downtown Gaylord which is charming and vibrant. You'll find locally-owned restaurants and shops in a quaint Alpine atmosphere.
I called to book our room the lady was so friendly. The check-in was quick and the lady was very friendly and helpful with information about places to see and to have supper. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was good and there was lots for everyone. I was sad that in the breakfast room there did not seem to been anyone cleaning up around the tables as people left. But they could have been under staff as so many places are at this time. We would stay here again.
Step into the luxury of a whirlpool tub that you have to use faith to operate. It's the strangest thing, the tub won't work unless you sit in it, and the front desk can't give you any clue as to why it won't work, and if they say they'll find out for you and call you back, they won't. Back to the tub, I was giving up on the whirlpool experience, and I thought I'll just give that stupid button labeled push on more try. The button did not work after pushing it 100 times, you have to step into the tub for the magic to happen; a true leap of faith. Oh, and pack light, it's not fun to have to bring all your luggage back down to the front desk because your keys wont work on the first try. Other than that, enjoy your stay.
Clean room. Comfortable bed, Great shower. Very friendly and helpful staff. Did not use the pool but looked really nice. Walking distance to mini marts and places to eat. Their snack shop was cheaper then going to gas station,
We really enjoyed our stay at this Best Western. The beds were very comfortable, rooms were clean, breakfast was good, pool area was clean and all of the staff were very friendly. Parking can be tight at times but it always worked out. I would definitely stay here again if in the area.
We looked for an affordable option for our group visiting Mackinac Island and other nearby sites and this hotel met all our expectations. I am usually a pretty fussy traveler and this property was great. Clean room, comfortable bed, nice breakfast and good service. We have already recommended this hotel to other friends and family.
I would have gave this hotel a 4 star review. Everything was typical of a Best Western. Check in was a breeze. Room was clean and was typical for a Best Western. Breakfast was typical for Best Western. Waffle machine, eggs and a meat for the hot portion. Cereals, breads, fruits, milk, and juices for the cold portion. Breakfast area was kept clean and food was decent. The indoor pool and hot tub was what turned a 4 star into a 2 star review. The pool and hot tub are kind of connected but don't share the same water. The pool water was blue while the hot tub's water was green. I saw guest in the hot tub earlier in the day and I just though the color difference was due to different pool tiles being used. During check-in the only thing that was mentioned were the hours of the pool. My son and I proceed to go down and use the hot tub, we get in (since we saw others in there just before hand) and it's just not sitting right that the water color is so different. We make a call to the front desk and asked if the greenish color was normal. The front desk explained that they called the manager the day before and let them know that it was green. We told them if that is not normal you need to close it down, you could get people sick. It wasn't until then they came and put a sign on the pool's door that the hot tub was closed. My 2 star review is not because the hot tub was out of order. Things happen. It is because management knew it was out of order and failed to inform guests at check in and did not put any notices up that the hot tub was out of order.
Super friendly staff, welcoming and warm. We have two teens and they are a bit difficult to impress most days, but they really enjoyed this hotel experience. Breakfast had several options for whole family too!
While my experience with Best Western hotels is usually positive, this hotel location in Gaylord was a notable disappointment. One major problem I faced is a broken shower in my room (see photo of broken tub/shower), and when I raised this issue with management, it elicited only a quick apology. After a day of hiking, not having a shower was a major problem, and this seemed like a major omission given the hotel's relatively steep summertime price. This experience seemed indicative of the broader hotel situation, as things did seem a bit run-down and dated. The only good thing I can share is that the standard complimentary breakfast offered was decent.
Both mattresses were very lumpy and very uncomfortable. Hard to get a good nights sleep while trying to get comfortable on these old and lumpy mattresses. Stayed 2 nights. The breakfast was great the first morning. But the breakfast was not so good the second morning because the sausage patties were awful tasting.
We stayed two nights, and the breakfast people were the best! Engaging in conversation, and they just made the morning more enjoyable! You could also tell they wanted to be there to serve you, it was more than a job to them! Also our room was very clean and easy access for being upstairs! We also only paid $80 bucks a night, and if you sign up for the free rewards you can also build points, to then get a free hotel room!
Excellent rom the warm reception to the checkout. Rooms were very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful with a good varitey and tasted very good. I had questions about our destinatin and the staff gladly answerd them. All of the answers they gave tunrned out to be correct and very accurate. Couldn't have asked for anythng more.
My son opened up the room with the key that was provided to us upon check in and he walked into a room that was occupied with people in bed and obvious evidence of major alcohol use. When i called and complained to the front desk,I was hung up on. I went to the the desk and was threatened with “the cops to be called on me”. I was intimidated by a man that claimed to be a manger but would not provide me with his ID. I took video. They also took video while I asked if it it was because I was complaining about the situation. Worst ever experience! Stay away from this place!!!!!
Stayed with a group for a wrestling meet. Had a pool, breakfast, let us use the breakfast room for pizza and cake, washer and dryer. Staff Accommodated my request for a conjoined room. I Would stay again.
What a great stay in the throes of winter! Was able to getaway & use my free night at this location. Was given a very nice room on the 2nd floor with all the bells & whistles. My room was spotless & the bed was wonderful. All I needed was a stove & I could have lived there. The fresh, hot coffee in the lobby was welcoming as it was so cold outside. Pool & hot tub gets an A+, the breakfast had so many choices & the strawberry waffles were the best. Everyone was so friendly, the lobby inviting with a fireplace, and the night was quiet & peaceful. Very close to shopping, & a variety of places to grab dinner. BY far, one of the best Best Westerns I have visited & I have traveled all over the country. I spoke to 6 different employees & everyone was personable & helpful. If traveling to Gaylord, I highly recommend you give this one a try. Thanks for all your hard work, it is appreciated!
We were so happy with our stay at the Best Western in Gaylord! All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was a decent size and very clean. I really appreciated the use of UNSCENTED cleaning products; our room smelled fresh with NO artificial or chemical scents, which made me so comfortable there. I also appreciated the cotton sheets, which feel so much better than polyester ones. Regulating the temperature in our room was easy with the wall thermostat. We appreciated the number of options in the included breakfast, and really enjoyed the fresh water infused with lime or orange that was available in the lobby throughout the day. We also enjoyed the fitness center, where my kids got some energy out while watching their favorite show, and I got to ride ten miles on the stationary bicycle when it was too rainy to go out. And at the end of the day, my husband and I enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub. Our stay here exceeded our expectations; again, the staff was so friendly and kind. We chose this hotel from reviews on TripAdvisor, and I am happy to add our very positive review to assist other travelers in finding a good place to stay in Gaylord. Thanks to all of you for your great hospitality!
This is my favorite hotel! I have stayed at a wide range of hotels from Michigan to Florida and this is the best. There are fancier and newer for sure but you will not find a hotel that is any better with more caring, kinder people than here!
My husband and I had a really good experience at this hotel recently. The front desk staff was very friendly. The room was nice and the beds were very comfortable. The hot tub was great and the pool was actually warm!! The best part was the breakfast. The lady who takes care of the breakdown area was super nice and helpful. She made an effort to make sure the food was different all 3 days we were there. There were plenty of unique condiments to go with everything. It was probably the best free hotel breakfast we have ever had. Give her a raise! Highly recommend this hotel for a budget friendly stay in Gaylord.
We rented 2 rooms for our family up north Christmas. Room 200 is a lovely, large apartment with 2 bedrooms and a full kitchen and a whirlpool tub. Perfect for my son and his family! The room is next to stairs and elevator and they did not hear any sounds or noise. We were in room 211. It was comfortable and quiet. Each staff person we connected with was pleasant and helpful. Thank you!
Just a one night stay . Hotel is seconds off I75 . Staff is pleasant and knows the area well. The hotel is close to anything you need and lots of shopping place is clean and modern. The rooms are large and it's a great value.
Long ago, we didn't seek out Best Westerns. Our experience was from the one in our college town which was worn and nothing special. But we've been using BWs again and have been quite happy. This one in particular was my favorite, a good part of that was due to the staff. The room was comfy and loved the beds. We'll be back.
always clean and good breakfast. was not busy. little bit of road noise. good location. internet good. tv channels good. used my points to pay. restaurants near by. shopping close. ez on ez off highway.
This hotel comes with a fitness room, and indoor pool, large clean rooms, and a great breakfast. The rooms have a microwave and a refrigerator in them and a good size bathroom. The breakfast was thorough with hash, eggs, sausage, cold and hot cereals, waffles juice milk yogurt etc. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Best hotel we've stayed at (traveling north) in a long time. Staff was hospitable and helpful. Was able to do an early check in without any hassel. Pool and hot tub were a hit for my family. Full hot breakfast was delicious and breakfast attendant was friendly. We'll be staying here again! I have 2 children and we stayed on the second floor. One con I could see, for the people below us, was them running/jumping around the room. Granted they were sleeping by nine.
This was my first time staying at a Best Western, so I didn't really know what to expect. The only real complaint I have is that our toilet was not in working order and was not truly fixed during our stay. The maintenance employee who addressed the problem as best he could without doing major work on it was very nice, helpful, and informative. Other than that, I would say this was an average hotel stay with somewhat friendly staff and a satisfactory breakfast.
We typically stay at Marriott hotels but weren't able to this time. However, although this hotel wasn't much to look at from outside, our room was amazingly clean, the service was excellent and there was coffee, juice and flavored water available 24/7. Some of the Marriott hotels haven't met the standard that this hotel has. We even noticed a breakfast employee going above and beyond with his job. Highly recommend this hotel.
We were nicely surprised to find that we had a spa tub with room for two, king size bed, and elevator to second floor. Room was quiet, bed was nice, choice of soft or hard pillows would be nice. Breakfafine for most guests; we'd suggest plain instant oatmeal for strict diet along with soy or almond milk.
I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel was. I've stayed at Best Western before a couple of times and regretted it, but the reviews convinced me this one was worth a shot. It had reasonable rates and was clean. The staff was nice. The layout of the hotel is a little confusing. We didn't use the pool. There wasn't a lot of road noise, and the beds were comfortable for hotel beds. The breakfast wasn't good. There were a lot of people packed in the small room and the food itself didn't taste good. We ended up throwing our food away and getting food elsewhere. The location is good. It was within walking distance of a little shopping strip.
Everything was very nice and it was very quiet. Nice breakfast available and very comfortable bed. Hot water, water and coffee available at all times. Very nice pool. Great place for us to stop on our way to Machinac Island.
Friendly staff, nice breakfast selection, and a room that was clean, comfortable, and quiet. I would definitely stay here again. Wish we would have had time to visit the pool. Convenient location off the freeway and a Starbucks right across the street!
As others have mentioned, this Best Western just looks ordinary from the outside but it is well above average inside. Lobby looks newly remodeled and pool area was spacious and clean. Rooms were in good shape and also clean. Way above average free breakfast area with its own separate room. The day we were there it had make your own waffles, bacon, eggs, breakfast sandwiches, and breads. Very close to freeway and many restaurants and services in area. Would definitely stay here again.
We paid the amount we were originally quoted even though I messed up and made the reservation for July when we where staying in June. Very friendly staff and very clean and quiet. It was a last minute stay and everything was awesome!
Stayed here for a business trip for two nights. The room was clean and the staff were great. Kenneth the attendant for the breakfast did a great job keeping everything clean and replenished. Would recommend this Best Western for your stay.
Handicapped Batroom needed some attention otherwise very good. When we come to Gaylord we stay at the Best Western Hotel. It's lcated near the places that we have to visit and there are other places of interest for our free time.
Excellent stay…very clean rooms…hot breakfast the best I ever had…everyone so nice and friendly…won't hesitate to stay again…hot beverage available 24 hours…two sinks one in bathroom once by coffee machine…
My room was really nice. It was beautiful, very clean and the bed was super comfortable. The staff helped me out by putting me in a room away from others so it was quiet because I had to study and prepare for a business test. The room was set up perfectly for me to study, as well. The continental breakfast was delicious and the dining room was very clean. Marty worked the first day and she was so friendly. The second day the lady was just as kind but I didn't get her name. The fitness roo. Is set up nicely and I loved using it every day. Also very clean. I didn't use the pool or hot tub but it looked nice and others seemed to be enjoying themselves in there. The water pressure in the shower was incredible. I could have stayed in there all day. There is a fridge that I could fit days worth of food in. A microwave and Keurig. I loved the room for the price. The staff was GREAT! I will absolutely go back to this hotel every time I'm in Gaylord now that I know what it has to offer. Oh, and the breakfast was delicious with tons to pick from. The biscuits and gravy were so good. I hope I didn't leave anything out. The staff were very helpful considering I had so many questions about my stay and the local area. They were so helpful and never made me feel like a burden from asking anything. This hotel is located next to everything you could want and yet the noise from being in such a heavy traffic area never effected my sleep. I could go on and on. I will be back for sure.
Room was clean and comfortable I got in late at night and was so happy with the service. The area is pretty desolate. I was having a hard time finding a hotel. When I called staff was super helpful. I had a great stay!
Our group stayed at this hotel and encountered the worst behavior and interaction with hotel stay ever. Adults were given a 9pm curfew as you cannot be in the halls or common areas after 9pm which was not posted anywhere. Other children in the hotel were in the halls unattended and we were given a warning and told "I do not care if they are not your children this is your first warning. Two more warnings and you will be kicked out". Our children were in their rooms. Also there was no alcohol allowed. The rules of the alcohol and adult curfew are not rules that were posted until the next morning by a typed note from the staff. Most of our group left the hotel and rebooked elsewhere the next day. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone. This hotel could have been a free stay and I still would not stay there. The staff should be retrained on customer service and if I was the owner the General Manager would be fired immediately!
Nice rooms. Clean and Quiet. Only wish the pool and hot tub were fixed at the time of my stay. However the staff was very friendly! Breakfast was average but good overall. Would come again if I were in the area again!
Booking was super easy through priceline. The room was fantastic and not outdated. Nice furniture, bedding and comfortable bed. Hot water. Hot breakfast. I wish all hotels were this great, especially for the value.
We always use this motel when we travel for what ever reason. Overall I recommend here for what ever occasion group, family, or business. Centrally located to anything your interested in f RV I'm dinner to outside activities. Breakfast is very good, only wish they had some sort of potatoes to go with the meat eggs and biscuits with gravy.
This location has a very long hallway with 2 accessible doors, however, the handicapped room that I was placed in was at the END of this very long hallway, away from the accessible doors. There is a door right next to that room, but if you go out it, there is no way to get back in unless you walk down the parking lot (it had just snowed and iced, and the plow did not get everything and I was in a walker) to one of the accessible doors, then walk back down to your room. Just beware if you are mobility limited, this location might not be for you. I have not experienced this at other locations, but next visit to Gaylord, MI and I will be looking at one of the other hotels. Such a shame as I really like the beds at Best Western.
First time in a suit with kitchen and 2 rooms. The staff was the best. I went to high school with the manager and she let the staff off and her family worked. Best advice you don't need to bring much cook ware they had plates glasses etc already there with dish rags and soap!
I have stayed in other hotels in this area when traveling there (my hometown is near Gaylord) to visit friends and relatives. This is the first time I stayed at the Best Western. Because of the pleasant experience with the staff, comfort of the entire place and especially the room. I will no doubt be staying at Best Westerns after this experience. Thank you for such a pleasant stay.
This hotel may look like any standard hotel from the outside, but it is definitely more than that! Beautiful lobby, recently renovated rooms, amazing breakfast and great staff. Highly recommend staying here if you are in the area!
At 4:30 AM, a 70 lb. headboard fell off of the wall and nearly injured my toddlers. Upon further inspection, the headboard was only screwed into DRYWALL using three short screws - no anchors, and not into studs... DRYWALL. What made me even more angry is that there were NINE total holes adjacent to the others, meaning it had been put up this way TWO OTHER TIMES. It's ridiculous that they couldn't bother to put a BOARD into actual studs to secure this properly. Someone is going to get seriously hurt. Thankfully my kids were only scared and confused, but due to the weight of the thing, they could have had major injuries if this had fallen on a hand, finger, head, etc. Staff and amenities were fine, but this safety issue should never have REOCCURRED, and by looking at the stripped out screw holes in the drywall it had already happened twice before. FIX IT CORRECTLY!
Very reasonable rates. Comfortable beds and pillows. We stayed in a room that had a couch and a chair for seating options. Hot breakfast was available with many choices in a clean dining room. Easy check in and checkout. Friendly service. Would stay at this location again.
We selected this hotel for a quick overnight from our home in metro Detroit based on its TripAdvisor rating and a stay I had there years ago. Well, the years may have not been particularly kind to the place. Perhaps my impression started when we showed up at noon, admittedly earlier than check-in time, and the front desk staffer snapped "I can NOT check you in early, we're short staffed," before I could even say hello. Well alrighty then. So we went to the wedding and reception and checked in that night, no problem. I asked for a top floor room, didn't get one. The room was adequate, very clean, the furniture a bit worn, the bed firm enough, the fridge cold, the shower a bit tricky to operate. The pool was small but clean, the hot tub glorious after a long day of driving and celebrating. Smokers two feet outside the door was a bit obnoxious. If I stay in Gaylord again I might look for a newer property, or maybe one of the golf resorts.
Lucky to get the last room due to a cancellation. Staff at check in very friendly. Room and entire hotel exceptionally clean. Rooms with micro wave, refrigerator, coffeemaker, nice breakfast bar, comfortable beds, laundered bed spread. We did not use the pool or hot tub. Great place to stay and reasonable price. Only draw back, on a busy intersection. We have stayed at many hotels and this Best Western compared to some of the best rated.
our room was spotless! the fitness center is nice, very well organized for a small space. hot breakfast with the staff attempting to keep up and refill items that were empty (i only wish the other guests were as nice as the staff - they seem to have forgotten what social distancing is already). we didn't get to utilize the pool or hot tub but looked in and the area was super clean as well. one of the quietest hotels i've slept in
I was pleasantly surprised. The place I normally stay increased doubled the rate for the summer so I chose to stay at the Best Western. I was pleasantly surprised by the interior and lobby decor. It was quite nice though a little dark. The hotel in general including the room was clean. My room smelled very nice. The gym was just right. Had a good variety of quality equipment. I didn't use the pool or hot tub but the area looked nice. Water pressure in shower was great.
The room was very clean. The staff was very helpful. The pool and hot tub were great. I love that the room has a Kerrigan in it. The decor is beautiful throughout hotel. I definitely recommend this hotel.
We stopped for the night on our way to Mackinaw Island. It was perfect in that all our expectations were met and the pool area was open and limited due to Covid. Breakfast was still offered and choices were adequate.
The hotel is very nice and clean, front desk clerk and breakfast person were both so nice and attentive! Great options for breakfast as well! The outside of the hotel looks a little older but the inside must have been updated recently!we really enjoyed our stay and already made reservations for our next visit to Michigan!
The hotel was nice, upon entering the pool area all you could smell was bleach, this is the time of covid so we assumed this had been used to disinfect the floors. Upon entering the hot tub (which the jets didn't even work on) my swimwear was a purple/burgundy in color upon entering the hot tub when I exited after about 12-15 minutes (as my skin was burning) the swimwear was now rust colored. When I advised the front desk she stated I would have to speak with the manager. The next morning when I brought this issue to the manager the next morning she was extremely rude and stated “there is nothing I am prepared to do for this situation as our levels are set to the health and safety guidelines and checked daily by the local health department!” As if the local health department had nothing better to do then go around to the hotels and check the chemical levels of the pool and hot tubs daily. It has been a month since I filled a complaint and still have had no contact what so ever.
The Best Western Gaylord looks like a newer hotel. Everything was clean, fresh, and seemed new. I didn't use the pool area, but it looked very inviting as well. The breakfast area was big enough for quite a few quests. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were very quiet.
Stayed here for my grand daughters birthday weekend to shop Gaylord. Easy access to shopping and restaurants, pool and hot tub were nice, rooms clean and spacious. Price was good value. Easy access to I-75 also.
Pretty sad, we are in the middle of a pandemic, local restaurants have just opened their doors again on February 1st but, these people just don't get it ! It doesn't matter what your personal opinions are about Covid-19, you should keep those opinions at home when you come to work. People like this are the reason we all can't get out of this mess we are in. I believe their poor decisions have set a bad example for their guests as well because there were virtually no guests wearing masks during our stay. We came out of our room to leave and a house keeper down the hall started coughing and then walked into a guest room to clean it without a mask on. It's insane that I am even writing a review like this but, I feel others should at least know. Rooms are large and clean but, I wouldn't recommend this hotel. I heard another couple laughing about being told that they all have medical issues and can't wear masks. That would be pretty hard for anybody to believe. What amazes me most is that this isn't a mom and pop hotel, this is a National chain and their own company standards posted on their website clearly states that ALL employees will wear personal protective equipment as well as guests, not to mention that it is a statewide mandate !
My wife and 2 small children arrived on Monday 12/28/20 with a 2-night stay booked. Upon arrival, there is a sign posted on the entry door stating that all employees and guests are required to wear masks. The 2 woman at the front desk while checking in were without masks. Once given our room, we went to the second floor and saw the cleaning woman in the room across from ours without a mask. Within minutes of that, a maintenance employee was walking the halls without a mask. Now I fully understand that some individuals have medical conditions preventing them from wearing a mask. I respect that. However, the 13 different employees I saw must ALL have medical conditions because not once did I see an employee wearing a mask. This includes employees that looked to be in their mid 20's through maybe mid 40's. When I asked the front desk, I was given the explanation that “most of the employees have doctors notes and can't wear masks”. Seems odd. Not to mention the countless, and I mean dozens upon dozens of guests without masks as well, none of which I witnessed being addressed for their lack of compliance. On our second night, Tuesday 12/29/20 at around midnight, the fire alarm went off. We rushed our sleeping kids into our car and waited and after 10 minutes the said we could go back in. No fire department showed up. Only the maintenance man (unmasked of course). The explanation we received was “we aren't sure why the alarm went off but we don't smell smoke so you can come back in.” I'm sorry but a fire alarm doesn't just go off for no reason. And after what we witnessed in the first 36 hours we realized the entire staff and operation of this place is completely incompetent. Packed up our room and drove 3 hours south in a snow storm and felt safer than being in the care of the “Best Western”. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Ever.
Really nice stay. Room was clean and comfortable. We loved the extra sink, counter, fridge/freezer, Keurig and microwave along with the extra living area space to kick back and relax after breakfast. Front desk staff was friendly and the breakfast staff went above and beyond to provide what they could during COVID19. I would stay again.
We had to make an overnight trip to this area and selected the Best Western based on assurances here on TripAdvisor that they are taking all necessary COVID precautions. We felt safe staying here and commend them for actively taking appropriate safety measures. We've had mixed experiences lately with Best Westerns and have stayed at some in poor condition, but this motel is very clean and obviously well maintained by a conscientious staff. We appreciated the Keurig coffee maker and in-room refrigerator and microwave.
Nice hotel. Clean room comfy beds. Large tub for two. Employees very friendly. Highly recommend. Nicely updated lobby. Personnelly didn't care for the miss matched furniture, guess that's the new thing.
Stayed overnight on 9/26/20 while traveling. This is an older hotel that has been recently renovated. Room 131 is an accessible room and therefore quite spacious. Everything in the room is new, fresh and clean, from the flooring to walls, fixtures and furnishings. A great choice and mid-price for Gaylord. I appreciated the Keurig coffee maker in the room which is far superior to the older, filter-pack style. Mini frig in room. The breakfast was very limited, I believe due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Had a good sandwich for dinner at the Alpine Tavern nearby.
Very nice rooms, love the big TV, friendly people, nice location, close to shopping and plenty of places to eat. Highly recommend Lucky's for a great steak! Hotel workers eager to help with anything you need .
Had the pleasure of staying at this property being offered what I thought was super customer service. Front desk( Shawnee ) did a great job of checking me in. Next day I decided I would rather have a King room that has a little more space than the double Queen. Well, Front desk manager ( Marty ) said "No Problem" I was in that room after work that day! Next morning I needed a couple more Keurig coffee packets ( I like coffee in my room). Nick at the Front desk said "No Problem" ! I also like the fact that there is a pretty good Mexican restaurant right next door. You also can walk to Wal-Mart or Lowes from here if you wish. Thanks Best Western!
The room was clean. The breakfast was plain bread nothing to put on it, yogurt, and wrapped muffuns. Low on blankets and sheets for the couchbed. Was there there are none. Also no extra pillow for the 3rd person on our room.
It's 11:30 at night. There is some person sitting and smoking outside my room, and the smoke is now in my room through the A/C. The noise from the street from motorcycles and trucks is incessant. There is a loud group across the hall—slamming their door every few minutes. There are people walking around the parking lot like zombies. The hotel property is in disrepair. There is a box of random crap outside my door. The town is a dump. Frankly, I wouldn't stay anywhere in Gaylord. Find something else. This is hell. Anyone who gave this place a positive review either has exceptionally low standards or was paid to do so.
Excellent hotel, located in an area full of cafes, restaurants and shops. The facilities are new and clean. I recommend it to everyone. It is a good option for those who want to stay among the surrounding tourist cities.
Room was is in immaculate condition. Beds were so comfortable we slept like a baby. AC worked wonderful and with temperatures in the 90's, and all of the rooms running AC we we happily surprised. Water pressure in the shower was great!! There was always hot water. Ice machines kept up with the holiday demands. The rooms are well insulated too, we didn't hear any outside or inside noise to disturb our sleep.
Newly remodeled very nice, clean, no breakfast because of covid 19. did offer coffee in main check in area. hotel very close to all types of restuarants and shopping. also very close to downtown gaylord
The front desk lady Carrie was very rude and disrespectful to us. She couldnt be bothered to get off the chair and her phone to talk to us. she claims shes a "superviser" We will not be returning as long as she works there.
We had the best weekend ever. The lady that checked us in was truly amazing I believe her name was Melissa, but not really sure. She was just awesome. The whole stay was really great. Couldn't ask for anything better. The rooms were excellent. Everything was excellent.
The room was very clean, the check in was smooth. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and made us feel at home. The pool was small but it was clean and the hot tub was great. We've stayed at two other motels in Gaylord on other trips, this one was the best value. We will stay here all of the time from now on.
My husband and I stayed at this property Jan 17-19, 2020 for a weekend of snowmobiling. The hotel was TOTALLY UNPREPARED FOR SNOWMOBILES AND TRAILERS! They had us park 1/8 to 1/4 mile away! Unacceptable parking our vehicle, trailer & snowmobiles in an offsite location. I emailed the manager and they will not credit my c.c.! NEVER AGAIN!
Snowmobiling is what they do in Gaylord, MI in winter. My husband and I and 2 other couples made reservations at Best Western on MLK weekend to do just that. Apparently so did 96 other people. The hotel was unprepared for snowmobilers and there sleds that arrive on trailors. We were asked to park ours at Lowes or Walmart without tranportation back to the hotel. Parking our equipment in an unsecured off site location is not an acceptable solution.
Stayed 4 nights to do x country skiing in area during week days. Very clean and breakfast is good. A little noisy if snow mobiles show up. Staff very courteous and helpful. Over all a pleasant experience. Hot tub helped after skiing. Hotel close to lots of restaurants.
Wow...way to alienate current and potential guests. Also, spell check is your friend; talk about looking unprofessional. I'm guessing an assistant manager on a power trip. This is going viral on snowmobile sites.
Stayed here on a weekend get a way, Overall not to bad but was not overly impressed, At check in was told "to bad you reserved on-line, you should have called the hotel directly , i would have given you a better rate" Not something the desk manager should tell a guest.. Ice make on the 1st floor is out of order and appears to have been for sometime, Was a pretty long distance up the stairs to find ice. Breakfast was just ok,, Scrambled eggs were cold both mornings, overall breakfast was better than most "choice hotels" we normally stay there. Hot tub and pool are nice as well as the fitness room. Our room was clean and comfortable no complaints there. The coffee in room and at breakfast totally sucks,, but I am a coffee snob.. Will likely stay here again if in Gaylord (mostly we like to stay at places with a hot tub and options are limited in Gaylord)
One night in this motel. The rooms are updated and very well maintained. Staff is extremely friendly and courteous. The breakfast included hot items as well as the basic standard items. Personally enjoyed the scrambled eggs and sausage. Did not use either the pool or fitness room, but both appeared to be clean and well maintained. Location is in a busy part or the town traffic wise but no big accessiblity problems.. One last observation. This was the most quiet motel I have ever been in. Great value for the price.
Rooms are roomy, clean, and comfortable. Atmosphere is nice and although it is an older hotel, it has been decently remodeled. Front desk staff were friendly also. Breakfast was good with your typical choices but also egg patties and sausage. Location is very near the highway so it is just a short hop.
We chose this hotel because of its amenities. Namely we're looking for a hotel with a pool and spa. This was perfect and reasonably priced. The clerk even brought me an extra blanket when I asked. Room was clean and hotel is in close proximity to everything we were looking for. Pool isn't too cold and hot tub isn't too hot, it's perfect. We will absolutely be staying here again if we can!!
Hotel was clean with great hot breakfast, kept filled. Pool and spa nice. Room 121 was lovely with great bed, but the room above us made so much room simply walking across the floor that it kept us awake, and then woke us up at 6am. Sounded like they were coming through floor. Room service did not show up though we were gone for 6 hours in middle of day. needed towels, soap, hated our trash left in room. Seems like if you stay multiple nights at a hotel that they are only concerned with new arrivals and leave a simple tidying up of current guests to the last. Or not at all. Disappointed.
Was really impressed with the room and the whole facility. Very clean and everything looked nice. Signed up for the rewards are received third night free. Also breakfast was pretty good. They have hot and cold food options. I would definitely stay here again. Front desk gurl was very nice and helpful.
Overall it was a nice stay at the BW in Gaylord. Nice big room with a king size bed, couch and jacuzzi tub. Rooms also have fridge, microwave, hair dryer and in room coffee. Breakfast was good but I was surprised there was no fresh fruit available. On the down side, we were on the first floor and the people above us had a very squeaky floor. Squeaked like an old farmhouse house, very odd for hotel construction. The toilet in our room needed to ve repaired as well. The flush handle kept getting stuck, in fact, the toilet was running when we first walked in the room. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The lady serving breakfast was great, she kept asking everyone if they needed anything, she was very attentive.
This hotel was clean and had warm coffee in the lobby when I arrived. The room was very clean and bed was firm and comfortable/ Location was easy to find in and off the highway. The location of the hotel was only 9 miles from the wedding venue. Staff was very polite and willing to help with anything that I needed. The hotel and updated training room along with a clean hot tub and swimming pool.
Checked in at midnite, was greeted with a warm smile , chech in was quick and efficient, our room was super clean, spacious and newly appointed with granite countertops. Lots of space fir makeup bags and shaving gear.
First time at the hotel, stayed two nights for a wedding. Can't say enough good things about this hotel. The free breakfast was delicious, the location was great, and the staff very friendly and helpful!
We were on a golf trip and stayed here strictly due to the low price. The hotel had been remodeled and was ok for the price we paid. If you want a cheap hotel with very few thrills this is your choice.
The room was beautiful and the lady checking us in was super friendly but I was charged for something I shouldn't have and it ruined my whole trip as we had to cut it short due to being short on money from the charging it. The breakfast food was good but half of it was cold and I waited 20 minutes for it to be re stocked and it never was. Half the stuff was all gone.
It was a nice hotel for families. Reasonably priced, clean and friendly staff. The breakfast nook can get very crowded, but the food was alright (it was warm). The pool and hot tub were great, but the "no kids" policy is not enforced for the hot tub. The bed was comfortable and the room clean. I would stay again in the future.
The indoor pool was unheated and was so freezing cold that we couldn't swim in it, so we just used the hot tub. We chose this location specifically for the pool, and was disappointed when we couldn't use it. The decor was so beige blah and could use some serious upgrading, along with new mattresses. The complimentary breakfast was also pretty blah (greasy bacon, tasteless eggs, etc.) I left my new large tumbler in the fridge when we left on Sunday, and Housekeeping located it & returned it to me when we stopped in on the way home on the following Wednesday. That was a little thing, but much appreciated.
I rarely stay at BW but was super pleased at our experience here. The best features: large updated room, great shower, two sinks, refrigerator, new linens, situated between Starbucks, Jeep dealership and Walmart
I visited the Best Western in Gaylord while we were visiting northern Michigan. The check-in process was simple and the reception staff were friendly. The hotel was clean, but the hallways were kind of dark feeling. It is not that there were lights out, but the decor is darker and the lights are not very bright. The room was nice and clean. The house keeping staff does a very good job. The hotel has a nice pool and hot tub. There is also a nice fitness room. The breakfast was a little disappointing. The breakfast room needed maintenance. The table we sat at was wobbly. It seemed like it merely needed to have a few bolts tightened and it would have been stable. The food was OK. I went to get a pint carton of milk out of the refrigerator and it was frozen solid. Some of the supplies like napkins and utensils had run out and there was no staff in the breakfast room for about 10 minutes to refill them. The breakfast experience was disappointing. In summary the room was nice and very clean. The amenities were nice. The breakfast was not great.
We stayed at the Gaylord Best Western overnight on a business trip. My wife was with me and we got a King with an in-room whirlpool bath. The room was nice and the tub was very relaxing but that is where the good ended. The room was terribly hot and we had a hard time getting the air-conditioning to cool it down. There was a burning smell like a vaccum cleaner belt the whole night and it was coming from the air conditioner. I tried 4 times to call the desk about getting a wake-up call and after 30 rings each time over an hour I finally got an answer but I was so irritated by then that I forgot to mention the smell. The refrigerator obviously had not been cleaned because we found half a carton of Newport Menthols in there. Too bad nobody smokes in our family (just kidding). Bfast was pretty bad. The mini omelettes were still frozen on one side and the coffee machine produced some of the most vile brew that I have ever tasted. The sausage was luke warm but the OJ was good. After re-reading what I just wrote, I'm not sure why I gave this place a "3" rating but I guess it's because at least the staff was very friendly.
We had a fabulous stay at the Best Western. The location is perfect - easy walking distance to lots of eating places and a gas station right next door. Easy drive out the back gate to Walmart/Lowe's etc 2 mins away. The room was cool, spacious and comfortable with a MASSIVE bed that was so comfortable as were the pillows :) The decor is a bit dated, the room coffee was dreadful, and the toilet was a bit wobbly but those were the only downsides. The cleaner did a FABULOUS job - quick, thorough and efficient :) The free breakfast is ample with a number of different choices to suit all tastes. And the machine coffee was much nicer. Great accomodation for reasonable price. Thank you :)
We were delighted with our stay in Gaylord. The room was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the extra sink outside of the bathroom was very convenient. We also loved the "clean" TV remote. We would definitely stay here again.
This hotel has a excellent breakfast. It is clean, quiet and the rooms and beds are very comfortable. It is very close to I-75 and has ample parking. There are lots of restaurants close by as well as places of interest. I always enjoy staying here!
My daughter and I were in a short trip to see a relative. Th two Best Western's we stayed at were wonderful well worth the price. Our rooms were very clean, beds and pillows were comfortable. The people were e trembly please take and helpful. The second Best Western on the trip seemed very booked, with lots of kids, yet I did not hear a thing in our room. All the staff were pleasant and helpful. They seemed to enjoy their jobs.
We stayed here for four nights while attending a rally about 20 miles away. We found this hotel right off the Interstate and close to all kinds of restaurants and shopping. The check-in clerk even let us in our room a little early, as we were hot and tired after a long ride. The hotel was clean and the breakfast was adequate. The beverage machine in the hall was out of service for our whole stay. Our room's bathroom door was warped and extremely hard to close. It was even harder to open. At one time I thought that I was going to have to call the fire department to get my Sweetie out of the bathroom. We mentioned our door problem to the front desk clerk the next morning. Nothing was done. We mentioned the problem to the maid. Nothing was done. Finally after three days, I cornered a housekeeping supervisor and she was able to get a young maintenance man to take a sander to the door so we could open and close it. This gentleman said that he would talk to the manager about making an adjustment to our bill for all of our troubles. All I noticed was a $4 a day discount. We are not real happy about our stay here.
Check in was very slow. Our room was huge, a bedroom with a king bed and one with 2 queens. The kids were happy with the tv channels. The internet was SLOW. We ordered pizza and we could all sit at the dining room table together. No issue with noise and we were right next to the elevator. The pool was freezing. Breakfast was a disaster. The breakfast room was too small and nothing was being replenished. The silverware was gone, no biscuits for the sausage gravy, no eggs, no milk, no coffee. We saw an ad that showed a pancake machine...no pancake machine. We were very disappointed.
Hotel room was very clean, I used the pool and everything was very nice in the pool area, especially liked the shower facilities in the pool area. The exercise area was very well equipped, and very clean.
This property seems to be newly renovated. The rooms are very comfortable except that the A/C was set on 61 when we got to our room, so aside from wasting energy, that not a bad problem. The breakfast was wonderful, they even had corned beef hash that was very delicious.
Great value and a very clean hotel! Staff was very friendly and took very good care of our large group (baseball team). Pool was pretty clean. Everything about this stay was top rate. I would recommend to all.
All staff members were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and well appointed. The only issue we found is that there are no vent fans in the bathroom. The breakfast provided is acceptable and there was plenty of food for the people present. Overall we had a great experience and recommend this hotel.
This Best Western was extremely clean. Comfortable and good size room. The room was modern and up to date. Will make this hotel a regular stop. Breakfast was good. Extremely pleased with this Hotel in general
I was VERY impressed by the Best Western in Gaylird Michigan. The room was very nice and clean. The bathroom was large and modern. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was one of the best I have ever had in a hotel. Try the breakfast hash - it was made fresh and was delicious. I will definitely stay in this hotel again when I am in the area.
Have stayed here 3 times, no problems n any of them. The Staff from check in to check out were professional and a pleasure to work with. They were going thru some renovations the first time I was here and now it looks much better in the lobby area. I have always had a clean room and a comfortable be.
The hotel was clean and the room was nice. The beds were a little hard for me but my husband was fine. Breakfast had a variety of items to choose from and all were of good quality. I would stay at this location again.
Newly renovated. Clean. The pool and hot tub were perfect after a 12 hour drive. The bed and pillows were so comfortable! The coolest feature of the room? A secondary sink outside the bathroom! Genius. It's also directly across the street from Starbucks, Bigby, and Panera Bread.
I love this hotel. Highly recommend guys! The rooms are really amazing!! Please come here with your friends and family. This is an outstanding hotel. Tell all your friends and family!! I would come back every time!!
Very clean rooms and surprisingly quiet for how close to the highway you are. Hot breakfast was very could, but was the same menu items for all 3 days of our stay. We have stayed at 6 different hotels in Gaylord, Michigan in the past and so far this one was the best for the money.
Great stay ,had Dental surgery and stayed here solely for that.nice stay overall Good experience Good food. Nice pool area.nice breakfast. Just one thing the shower head sucks bad.didn't work like supposed too. everything else worked.
The cost was only 94.99 after all taxes and fees for a night in Gaylord, MI. They were the nicest looking hotel in the area and we were trapped due to the storm. The staff that night was very minimal because the highway was shut down and the gentleman working the front desk was an absolute beast at his job. He was shoveling the driveway, making sure the power would turn back on and helping people at the front desk store. I cannot stress enough how much of a hard worker he was. I really hope he gets a raise or a bonus for his spectacular job that night. It was an absolute blizzard with whiteout conditions and winds over 60 mph. It did not phase him the slightest. This is by far the best Best Western I've stayed at and I've stayed at a few across Michigan.
Good Morning! My daughter and I stayed at your hotel Friday night. I will start by saying it has been beautifully remodeled. Upon check in, both of your front desk employees were wonderfully welcoming. After getting to our room, we found a razor blade sticking straight out of the carpet which we turned in at the front desk and told the room we were in had been a storage location during the remodel and must have been missed.. Friday night was quite noisy with work out center directly next door. THe treadmill being used was terribly squeky and heard way over the volume of our tv. Saturday morning was the biggest issue. We were wakened at 5:45 am with the commotion of people moving about in the Breakfast room across the hall. There was no way you could go back to sleep as the room was completely full of people by 6am. The door on the room had no seal you could see right through which made the noise even louder. This room should clearly not be used as a guest room. When mentioning this at check out all we got from both employees was a giggle. Clearly this has been a problem with other guests. Very unhappy to be put in this situation! If you stay here do not let them put you in room 102!
We stayed here before when it was Holiday Inn Express couple of years ago . Now its Best Western . we check in at night front desk was very help full for quick check in and guide what's going on in town. our Room was newly renovated with 14"-15" thick pillow top bed set. my wife and kids like huge 50-55" screen LED TV to watch movie. Bathroom was very clean with new tub and surround , wall paper, light fixture . my wife like new portable hair dryer to dry her hair in morning . i am very happy with internet speed for quick email check . my son enjoy big pool and we enjoy hot spa which was very clean. Breakfast room has new furniture we enjoy variety of hot breakfast items and fresh coffee. We definitely recommend this hotel to our family and friends .
But wouldn't book through hotels.com again because my check in took about 30 minutes with my toddler and husband waiting in the running car outside. They couldn't figure out that my booking was already paid through hotels.com, which I thought was a pretty common booking practise by customers these days. Anyway, I still have 5 stars as the hotel is only newly known as Best Western, and was recently all redone inside because of that. It was very nice, and couldn't ask for a cleaner “value” motel! Rooms were nicer than expected with microwave, fridge, keurig. Breakfast was served til 10am which is later than usual which is nice and I thought the breakfast selection was better than many hotels I have stayed at - big, fresh muffins, Chobani yogurts, Nescafé coffee machine, etc. Also, pool is open until 11pm; most hotel pools close at 9pm and we never end up getting there in time. I spoke to another receptionist the next morning to clear up the booking dilemma and she said everything was fine and sorted out so at least I didn't have another headache on my hands when we tried to leave! Will stay again and maybe plan an overnighter trip getaway now that we know there is an affordable, clean hotel to stay at!
It's now Best Western, transition was smooth. Great value , very close to the trail, hot breakfast, clean rooms , pool and jacuzzi was clean, and friendly. Hot water took awhile to get to us but was good. Will stay again!!
I'm pretty picky when it comes to hotels and do not choose Best Western's in general because they tend to be “value” hotels. This hotel is nice and clean. Updated lobby. We stayed in a whirlpool suite and the tub was nice and big. Mini fridge and microwave were a plus. Breakfast was not great but as expected. Would stay there again over the Holiday Inn Express (which I've stayed at before).
