Je m’inscris Manager on duty was unfriendly to start. We asked for a luggage cart and were told they were up on the floors. We asked to get one and she said I will have to find time to go look for one. We ended up having to make two trips to our room because of her unwillingness to help. We are older and really needed it. The hotel had a weird smell . Needs serious updating. Will not be returning.
Rooms were spacious, clean and stocked. Easy to move around in and comfortable. Had no problem unpacking everything and turning this room into a home and an office for over a week. Mgt & Overnight Staff was accommodating & kind. We will never stay anywhere but Best Western in Athens.
Lots of outlets for plug ins. Great AC. Breakfast was great. Had scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, gravey, but NO biskets! They even had my oatmeal and Silk vanilla almond milk. Great set up to start your day. Might ask for handicap room next time. No helpful grab rails for bathtub.
Comfy rooms, greasy breakfast and a unprofessional manager. Avoid, there are plenty of other options to stay in Athens, TX . When a customer is judged by their appearance, and verbally confronted as a suspicious*looking" person for putting his possessions in his own vehicle in the parking lot, you must consider how often that occurs and to whom. Go elsewhere if you must stay in Athens TX.
Most comfortable beds and cleanest room that won't break the bank & will be the best stay you'll not regret! Almost paid $100 more down the street at Holiday Inn since they remodeled. Daughter stayed there the only thing better was the breakfast choices. Holiday Inn newer amenities means nothing with stained sheets and half cleaned rooms, hallways wasn't vacuumed. Managed hotels and did the dust test they had plenty dust let's you know management don't check behind the housekeepers which will eventually lead to airborne illness's at the Holiday Inn. Best Western is cleaner folks and their pool is open. Best Western needs to update their driveway and if you have a low vehicle exit out the driveway in an angle so you'll not drag your bumper's off your dang vehicle.
Went to a family reunion, prices were jacked up due to Labor Day weekend. Breakfast was nasty, not much of variety saguages were very hard and dry couldn't eat them. Couple of empty bins, not sure what was in them. They really needed to do better job or stop serving breakfast all together possibly get a better cook. 😳
My sister in law and I stayed here on a antiquing trip. Very easy check in, quiet environment, cozy beds. Saw families by the pool Nice place for sure. Loved the easy access and friendly staff that greets you. We had no issues and was Super Clean!
We stayed 1 night as a family of 3 and enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was great with variety. My kid enjoyed making the big Texas waffles! I also loved the big refrigerator in our room! Room was clean and comfortable. Location was great too!
The rooms need extensive renovation. The carpet was old, dirty and torn in multiple places, there were numerous unrepaired holes in the wall, the HVAC lid was broken off, the bathroom sink fixture was broken off from the countertop, the shower had rusty screws that could cut open someone's skin, and the walls near the shower had water damage.
I'm a contractor and did some work for this particular hotel I have been dealing with Lisa the general manager and my company veterans striping company was restarting the parking lot for the Best Western Plus in Athens a phone completing the job I had the general manager come out and take a look at the work and at that point she said she wasn't happy with the way the paint was bleeding through and I spoke with her again and said that I would have to have a representative from the paint company to come and take a look at the paint to have him text it and get an opinion if the paint was good or bad. At that point I told her I would notify her when I got the results the results were the paint was no good and the company was replacing the paint for your charge and there would be no charge for labor to redo the parking lot either we call that 100% customer satisfaction what we call it however at that point also the maintenance man with whom I've never talked to you or spoke with ever continue to call me names and can have bad a person I was and how he can take care of me and you know beat me up but I just walked away from him I still haven't been paid for the first job I did for him and we were going to do the second job again for free but we have to be paid for the first job to know that we'll get paid when we're done anyway I haven't heard anything from him I emailed them asking for payment and yet to receive that so let me know other choice except through file a lien on the hotel and a complaint with the better Business bureau and a complaint with you attorney general's of Texas none of this is necessary it would have been a lot easier to pay the bill and let us redo the parking lot free however I guess that you not to do that and the maintenance man is a troublemaker and very unprofessional so I just want to thank my opinion on what happened and therefore thank you very much for allowing me to places have a good
Traveled for a rodeo weekend with my family. Hot shower, plenty towels, good cold air and VERY comfortable beds. Hotel provided a good fresh breakfast and the staff was very welcoming upon check in and check out.
Hotel was fairly clean, however, the room had a strong sour/wet smell. I went in another room that also had a sour smell. Breakfast was your average free breakfast. Staff were mostly friendly and helpful. Disappointing after reading previous reviews.
Very clean, beds were comfortable and a/c worked fabulous! Pool area was very nice. Lots of choices for breakfast -eggs, sausage, biscuits, waffles, cereals, fruit & pastries. Would definitely stay here again!
I have stayed at the other hotels in Athens and the Best Western is the ONLY clean and well maintained hotel. Beds are good and comfortable. This hotel is convenient, clean, new/well maintained, and the staff is very nice and helpful.
The staff at this hotel are great and are doing the best they can. They were all pleasant and helpful and the room was clean. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was pretty good. The walls are thin though so if someone nearby is making noise you will hear them. The hotel really needs a renovation to get more stars from me. Our tub had rust near the bottom edge on the outside and there were signs of water damage on the bottom of the bathroom door. There was a faint odor of cigarette smoke that we think was coming from the sagging sofa. The guest laundry and ice machine on the ground floor weren't working and the sundry shop was empty.
We love staying at Best Western because of the comfort of the bed and pillows and we most enjoy the convenience of having breakfast provided. The staff were most helpful and professional. We will definitely be staying here on our next visit to Athens.
It was exactly what we expected and more. Bed and pillows comfortable, AC blew cold, bathroom facilities, and hair dryer all worked well. Provided toiletries were nice. No closet but I never use one. Breakfast was fresh and delicious.
This new hotel is very attractive, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast. Staff were kind and helpful. We had 3 rooms for a large family and everyone had a great experience. Beds were extremely cozy and we all slept so well. The kids loved the many breakfast choices and the coffee was great. Highly recommend staying here. (For the average person, it might be a bit pricey, but everything seems to be getting more expensive.)
The Best Western in Athens had far & away one of the best showers ever! It was worth the entire trip for the big, pelting drops of warm water...Water pressure like I haven't felt in 30 years! The breakfast features buttery real scrambled eggs and sausage, the beds & pillows are super comfy, and the staff was sweet. I highly recommend this hotel!
We've stayed here a couple times this summer. The town of Athens is a friendly place with many good people. The hotel staff were also very helpful, and they put together a nice breakfast each morning. I would recommend not staying on the side closest to Hwy 31, because it can be a little noisy. But I am a light sleeper, and changes in barometric pressure wake me. As I said, we are repeat customers, and when you need a place to rest and recuperate, this hotel is just right.
Hotel was clean and quiet. The staff was helpful and friendly. (When I travel alone, it is always nice if the staff will make conversation with you.) Breakfast was good. Other customers seemed to enjoy themselves as well.
Over the last 12 months I have more that 60 nights on the road, most of them have been with Best Western. Of all the locations I have stayed at more than once, Royal Mountain Inn is very consistent from check in to room standards to checking out! They make you feel like the most important guest they have that day! Keep it up.
Clean-Room was clean, did not come in daily to clean due to Covid. Actually understaffed. Had to take used towels down every morning to exchange for fresh ones. Staff-Front desk most were friendly only one was not. Kitchen 1 great, 1 hateful Bed- was very comfortable AC- was outstanding Breakfast was OK. Hall carpets NASTY! Elevator would not come to first floor and had to ask the front desk to go up and bring it down. Pool- We were told the pool was working and ready to use. Website listed out of service. It was green and dirty from Monday July 4 to Friday July 8. They said it was safe to use....NOT!!! Always gave an excuse that the pool man was cleaning but was caused from the heat. That was a lie, it was never serviced.
We arrived several days after booking our stay only two find no available rooms ready by our mid-afternoon arrival. We were told to either wait a bit or return later, but one was found as we were deciding what to do. The room was on the first floor even though we'd requested one on third to minimize noise. The desk clerk remembered our booking call and simply said, "I forgot to make that note". Upon entering the room we immediately noticed two things, a heavy air fresheners odor and a broken down sofa whose cushions were no more than a foot off the floor. We then told the clerk that the room was simply unacceptable and insisted that she see for herself. She agreed and quickly booked us into a somehow magically available third floor room. We shafted our things and found the sofa to be in only slightly better shape and the airfreshener smell replaced by one that seemed musty. We stayed because the town apparently was full for obscure reasons. Reasons that seemed justified by the quickly filling parking lot. A walk around the building quickly revealed a lot of postponed or neglected maintenance and general lack of housekeeping. The fenced outdoor pool looked clean and functional, but it's gate was locked because it supposedly needed repairs. Breakfast is available by voucher only, no buffet is offered apparently this had been covid related, but most states had lifed covid restrictions before our stay - none of the staff wore masks. We'll likely skip breakfast because they fill a foam tray box for you to take back to your room where you must make your own coffee in a rather dubious single serving brewer. Can't make this stuff up, we're here now because there's no realistic alternative other than being charged for an unused room while hoping to find another without a reservation. This place is worn out, don't waste your time or money
Very friendly employees with hot breakfast. Breakfast included waffles, eggs, sausage, biscuits, and fresh fruit. Nice breakfast/lobby area that they let our family use for our social gathering. Room was clean with everything functional.
When we checked in the clerk was checking in a large group of construction workers, she was professional with them and us the whole time. The workers tracked in mud but it was cleaned up quickly.Everyone was friendly and helpful.
Nice place. Breakfast was very limited, but the eggs were delicious. They had a selection of coffee, cocoa and tea. Bed was comfy. Friendly staff. Felt safe at this location. Restaurants near by. Well lit parking out front
There was a wad of hair on the bathroom floor. Other than that it was comfortable and the staff was very accommodating. There could have been a few more items available for breakfast, yogurt, toast or potatoes. But otherwise the front desk staff and cooking staff were awesome!
Our room was exceptionally clean and welcoming. The bed slept like a dream (this is a big deal to me as I have arthritis and require a comfy bed. Staff was extremely professional and friendly. We will be staying here a lot. I've stayed in every hotel in Athens and this one is by far the very best! Quaint, quiet and clean.
Room smelled like an ashtray. The odor was overwhelming. I reported the disgusting odor to the desk, but they did not have another room. I sat eucalyptus scented bath crystals in cups all around the room to cover up the nasty odor. In the morning, I put a please clean room sign on the door when I left this morning. The fridge was dirty and freezer was so built up with ice, it was unusable. The nightstand drawer had something sticky spilled in it. When I came back tonight, the room was not cleaned, and the cigarette smell was even worse. Again, I sat out bath crystals so I could tolerate the night. I try to stay at Best Westerns whenever I travel because they've always been clean, well maintained and reasonably priced. But not this one! I won't be back.
Property was clean & well maintained. My room was very clean & nicely furnished. All appliances worked well. Fitness center was clean and nicely equipped. Pool was in good condition. Breakfast service was limited due to covid, but adequate. Staff was professional & courteous. Would not hesitate to stay here again.
I travel regularly and typically stay at one particular brand which does not have a facility in Athens. We had stayed at this Best Western once before and had a nice first-floor room and encountered friendly staff. When we knew we would be in town a second time, we asked for the same room again, but were told we would have to call the day of the reservation to see if it was available. The day we were to arrive, we called between noon and 1:00 p.m. and were told the room had already been given to another guest (check-in is at 3). When we arrived, we discovered we were given a room on the third floor, and the desk clerk abruptly told us no other was available. If they couldn't honor the specific request, they should have at least gotten us as close as possible. I have both mobility and balance health issues and the location of our assigned room made it difficult for me to enjoy our two day stay. In addition, the sofa in our room had a large, greasy spot and tears in the upholstery, and the carpet had stains I don't even want to speculate about. I often make special requests when making a hotel reservation and am well-aware those requests cannot be guaranteed. However, in my experience, those requests are almost always honored. In fact, right off hand, I don't recall a time when it wasn't. To me, the experience we had here indicates either poor management, or an uncaring attitude about their guest. There is another national chain hotel in Athens and, after this experience, I will be going there in the future.
The room was clean and well appointed. The staff was very friendly. The beds were comfortable and the room was very clean. Coffee was available and the refrigerator kept our drinks cold. Good Place that I will come back to for a trip to Athens, Texas. So much to do there!
Considering I was staying in a rural area like Athens, this property is well above any other in the area. Very Clean. Great Rooms that look brand new. The staff were very helpful and breakfast was the best of any hotel I've stayed in during covid.
The room was NASTY. Food from previous guest left in fridge, spider webs in bathroom, earrings from previous guest left on floor. Obvious room was not clean and no mgmt there to speak to. So gross. We won't be staying at this hotel again. I sent a request to Best Western directly and have yet to hear back.
The staff were all very friendly, check in and out was so easy and the location was perfect. The front desk greeting at check in was so friendly and so was the housekeeping staff. The room was clean and I felt very comfortable/covid safe. Can't say enough about the people and the clean, very nice hotel.
Dark dingy entrance, no lighting in halls or rooms, everything was dark No room service during stay. No breakfast - given little bag with apple, 1 bottle of water, tiny muffin, tiny snack bar. Hotel down the street served full breakfast. Trash can set outside of room for pickup, they did not put another bag in it. Had to take dirty towel to front desk to get another towel. Not staying here again. Other guests were also shocked at how this hotel is being run.
side door zipped tied. meth users coming in and out of rooms and loitering in the halls all hours. i videoed there was someones old bbq pit sitting by the side door as well, plus numerous empty beer boxes. one morning as i left the room there were two meth addicts sitting and smoking by the back door. luckily my car wasnt burglarized and they had not stolen my catalytic convertor
Everything was great from the first moment we arrived. We were assigned a nice, large, clean room. The vending area was close by and clean. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. They put together a simple, bagged breakfast as they were still following COVID protocols. Will definitely stay here again.
Of course, during this COVID mess, everything is not the same but this BW is quite lovely.Check-in was easy, room was clean, amenities were all there. Breakfast could be improved for men. Women generally do not need as much food as a man but the breakfast was too small even for a women. Other than that we enjoyed our stay.
Booked multiple rooms for a wedding thru Agoda.com. First, DO NOT USE Agoda.com for booking, it's a horrible site experience. They state you can easily change or cancel your reservation on their site, up to a specified date. No, you can't change anything on their site, and the cancel date got moved back several days without warning. They also state you don't prepay, you will pay at the hotel. No, they charge you and then you have to work with the hotel to get a credit back for giving them your card when you check in. Bad site, avoid it and save yourself the frustrations. Now for the hotel. My daughter was having her wedding near Athens. She called the hotel to make a change to her room reservation (because she couldn't with Agoda). The hotel told her they couldn't make any change, that she would have to contact Agoda. I called the hotel and asked them to make the change because we had no success with Agoda, and they took care of it. She arrived and got checked in, planned on a friend staying with her one night. So she pulled out the couch bed to get it ready. It hadn't been cleaned from previous use. There were crumbs on top of the mattress, along with a quarter and two large stains. And it was not made up, no sheets or blanket. She called the desk to assist, and was asked to come get the sheets at the front desk. No offer to come clean the bed or make it up. And she was told they were out of pillows for the pull out bed, due to being booked because of weddings. And the pull out bed was so uncomfortable it wasn't possible for anyone to sleep on it. While we all recognize the world is a different place, and resources are not what they were a year ago, it's still not appropriate in my view for a hotel to ask visitors to get their own bedding and make up a bed, not have sufficient pillows for bedding, and not be able to clean a room properly. If we visit the area again, we will be looking more carefully at other lodging options.
We came and stayed here to visit family. Be aware that when pulling in you'll want to go at it from an angle. It'll scrape of you aren't careful. The beds were super comfortable and the rooms were clean. The to-go breakfast needed more of a change up but it beats not getting anything. We would definitely stay here again if needed.
I always stay at this hotel when traveling to Athens and Canton, Texas. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The one thing missing during this stay was a hot breakfast. I realize it was during COVID; however, the hotel could have had individual packets of coffee, tea, cider, and hot chocolate which could have been prepared in the room. Also, they could have offered individual boxes of cereal and milk. Plus, they could have offered oatmeal and various breakfast items which could be prepared in the microwaves in each room. We were offered a Grab & Go; however, since both mornings were in the 30s, we opted to go to the nearest McDonald's and Whataburger for a hot breakfast. The room rates remained the same - no adjustment for the inconvenience of having to leave the premises for breakfast. Normally, I give this hotel an Excellent rating; however, this time I felt they missed the mark on the breakfast and could have adjusted the rates to reflect what was actually offered.
Good Room request accommodated; clean room; good ethernet and WiFi; good quantity of electric sockets. Not good Hair in sink; their grab and go breakfast is a water bottle, a piece of fruit, a snack bar, and a pastry. No consideration for diabetics or pre-diabetics having a snack bar and a sugary pasty. This is not a breakfast; it is a snack and is a joke. This is not a sufficient breakfast to fill a person to work until lunch time. Why couldn't BW have a combination sausage and cheese on a bun that a person could heat in the room microwave? Why couldn't BW make eggs and meats and serve them in containers? CDC, health departments, and COVID have nothing to do with preparing oatmeal, eggs, or meats that can be put out buffet style; cooks can wear gloves; restaurants, cafes, and diners are now preparing meals and there is no reason why the hotel cannot do the same thing; the hotel can provide gloves for guest use and people know to distance getting these hot items and can eat in their rooms; COVID is being used as an excuse.
Great, clean place to stay. We went to Canton for Trade Days and because hotels are very limited in Canton we chose to stay in Athens. It's about 20 minutes from Trade Days. (Very easy drive). I felt like the room was clean and the shower/bathroom was clean. Because of Covid, they do not offer a daily housekeeping service but were more than happy to exchange our towels. The only breakfast offered was a “grab and go” breakfast. You pick it up at the front desk with a banana and muffin and bottle of water. Staff was very friendly. I thought the hotel was well maintained.
We were very satisfied with our "Hurricane Laura" stay. Felt everyone took precautions for our safety because of Covid 19. Had a great choice of places to pick up food, not to mention how close they were to the BW. Everyone that worked there during our stay were very nice and accommodating to all our needs, and we would not hesitate to stay here again. Thanks!
I understand the pandemic is effected the food inventory. But I can't believe that we paid over $100/night for a average 2 stars room and a bottle of water and an apple for breakfast. Never stay here again. Really want my money back. They said FULL BREAKFAST in the hotels .com website. But the breakfast was just a joke : 1 water bottled and 1 apple.
I travel a couple time a month to Athens for work. This hotel is always has clean rooms and and a pleasant lobby when entering. Lisa and Taylor are friendly and get me checked in quickly when I arrive in the evening. They have been taking precautionary measures due to Covid-19. Highly recommend this Best Western.
Highly recommend. Hotel is extremely clean and the room even has a fresh remote in a bag!! I travel A LOT and have never seen this feature. Staff is very friendly and they even gave a Veterans discount.
Our check in was very easy and pain free and we were in our rooms promptly. The room were very clean and everything was in working order inside of them. The hotel has vending machines on every floor as well as ice machines. And checkout was just as easy as check in.
The staff is pleasant upon arrival and during breakfast. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. For a hotel the towels were softer than you'd expect. I did not use or pull-out the sofa sleeper but the couch isn't very comfortable therefore I wouldn't recommend using. This is the only part of the room that could use an upgrade. Other then that it's a perfect place to stay.
This is the first time to this Best Western. It was a great stay, the room was clean and comfortable. The free breakfast was good. The location is easy to find and easily accessible from highway 31. Will visit again.
I was very impressed with cleanliness and size of the room. I normally look for cheaper rooms but I know you get what you pay for. We decided to try a Best Western and I was skeptical because the room price for two queen beds was about 20.00 ore than I'd normally pay. It was worth the extra price! The room and bathroom were spotless. The staff was excellent. This was an excellent value and I will look for Best Western hotels on my next travel.
I was in town to see my sister in ICU. They were very accommodating to find us a room away from the noise. Breakfast was closed when we were leaving April was very accommodating to help me with my hot tea and offered to stay open a little longer the next day. We will stay here again if in town.
This is a very nice, newer hotel. I can't remember ever having a bad experience at a best Western and I try to stay at one every time I travel. The staff here is very friendly and the rooms were always spotless every day.
We usually stay at choice hotels but the reviews for the local selection on TripAdvisor were less than appealing. We picked the Best Western and can honestly say that this location, for the price exceded our expectations by a large amount. The rooms were the equivalent of a Comfort Suite that was newly renovated with a nice bathroom and comfortable bed, couch and pillow choice. The breakfast was a typical full hotel. The breakfast nook was clean and well supplied. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I will stay here again without a second thought.
Decor is beautiful inside and property is extremely clean both inside and outside. We were in the room closest to the lobby and it was quiet. Beds are very comfy. Pool was clean. Breakfast typical continental. Small sitting area. The only complaint I have is a family member has a medical condition that keeps her cold all the time; I asked front desk clerk for a blanket and was told they were all out. It was 105 degrees outside during the day...that many people needs blankets causing them to be out? I highly doubt it. Would still highly recommend this property.
I traveled to Athens for a horse show at Henderson County Fairgrounds and chose this hotel because it was super close. I could not have been more impressed with the nice staff, the cleanliness and well appointed room, and about the most comfortable bed that I have ever laid in. I want to find out what this mattress is and buy it!! When I'm back for a horse show, I will only stay here, or if I'm ever in Athens for another reason, I will only stay here... as should you! Great breakfast and strong free WiFi.
Got to stay here for the second year in a row and it was also a great stay, but a coupe of things were different this time so I'll bring those up. (TripAdvisor is letting me review again so why not!) The bathroom lock did not work, the hot water at breakfast was barely warm (even when I witnessed them refilling it), and housekeeping comes WAY too early. Most days they were knocking on doors at 8:00, 8:30! Are you kidding?! Majority of people are probably still asleep! Also, our room did not have this problem, but a friend that stayed here at the same time had to be moved to another room because of bed bugs. But anyway, that's all. This is a great choice for staying in Athens; feel free to refer to my first review.
First time in a very long time staying in a Best Western. This is a very nice hotel, seemingly new, very Clean also. The breakfast was great. I was pleased to see the variety of options including VEGAN sausage. The staff were all very helpful & nice. My boyfriend & I were just in town for a night but if we need a place to stay when we return it will be this BW for certain. Also the bed was extremely comfortable; and were quite picky :)
My sister and I stayed here before a day in Canton at Market Days. We were warmly greeted by the young lady at the desk upon arrival. She was friendly and courteous. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The beds were comfortable and there were a variety of pillows to choose from. =) The free breakfast offered a nice variety...yogurt, granola, cereal, bagels, English muffins, fresh fruit and many hot options like eggs, biscuits and gravy, sausage, waffles and good coffee (with flavored creamer). The lady who was replenishing the breakfast was VERY nice and friendly and did a great job of keeping things filled.
Good location just off the loop for easy access to other sides of town (toward Dallas, Palestine or Canton) , already on east side of town(toward Tyler). Friendly, welcoming staff. Clean, quiet rooms.
Stayed one night on our way to Canton. Great location. The hotel was very nice and the staff was friendly and proactive. The room was very clean, the beds were extremly comfortable and I loved the clean TV remote pouch. The breakfast attendant was great and keep everything well stocked. I would have preferred the price being about $30.00 less, but other than that I was very happy with our stay.
I travel for business to Athens often. I have tried most of the hotel here but I have found this BW is the best bang for the buck. The beds are nice, the rooms are nice and most of the staff is willing to go the extra mile for you. I do recommend this hotel.
Trevor At the front desk was excellent, good breakfast, room was good, when in the area again stop in again to stay, everyone at the hotel was very friendly, El San Louis restaurant right down the street was great
Normally I'd be staying @ a La Quinta, but recently they've gone down hill (customer service, cleanliness, etc.). I would stay @ a Best Western on occasion, but I've currently changed my view & go out of my way to check into a BW Plus or better (they're making leaps to upgrades & amenities).
Arrived after dark and had some trouble finding the hotel. The room was good, and the bed comfort was great. Not greatly modern, but clean. Service was reasonable at the front desk. Breakfast was average -- I did not enjoy the super thin bacon which was served, and the eggs were just ok. Try to serve more than light yogurt.
My husband and I stayed over the weekend looking to purchase retirement home on lake. Hotel was very close to where we were looking. Room was very clean and the beds are comfortable. The pillow could have been a bit larger.
Check in was quick. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was good. The room was very nice and clean. Everyone was very friendly. I will definitely stay at best Western again in any state
Very good stay. Bed extremely comfortable. Rooms very quiet. Hotel was very good for the price. Front desk workers were very helpful and professional. The coffee was the best that I have had in a very long time.
Other than breakfast I very much enjoyed my stay. Room was clean , had fridge and microwave in the room. Very friendly staff. It was new year's eve but it was quite and other guests were very friendly
When I travel to visit family near Athens, Texas I always stay at the Best Western Plus Royal Mountain Inn & Suites. The staff are great to attend to my needs, including letting me check in early. I have recommended the hotel to many of my family members. I have also stayed at another well known brand hotel and have always enjoyed this Best Western much more, especially for the value!
We like to stay at BW whenever we travel in the USA because prices are usually excellent & rooms are well stocked, clean, roomy enough for 2 and generally good to excellent staff. We did not use the pool or gym, but our room was exactly as requested because we always book directly thru the BW website. My only personal objection is powdered scrambled eggs for breakfast, but this seems to be standard at many Best Westerns. If they were NOT powdered, they looked & tasted like powdered, but everything else was fresh: sausage, bacon, waffle batter, fruit, cereal, coffee, juices, biscuits & gravy, as well as hot or cold depending on how they are supposed to be. The kitchen staff was right on top of everything to make sure there was always plenty of everything. We will probably return to this area each year for family Thanksgiving celebration at a nearby ranch, so we plan to book here when we come in the future.
The room was clean and quiet, bed was comfy, staff was welcoming and helpful. Salsa for my eggs at breakfast was a plus. I would definitely stay here again. Hotel was easy to find and to get to. Great experience.
My family & I have stayed at this hotel numerous times for our annual trip to Canton Trade Days. The breakfast is always good & plentiful. The rooms are clean, & the beds are comfortable. We enjoy Athens because the town has much to offer i.e. restaurants, small shops, etc. without being caught up in the traffic at Canton.
The hotel is in very good shape. The registration personnel are personable, knowledgeable, friendly competent individuals. They welcome you with open arms and keep you warm while you stay. The services and amenities are great. This is like a home away from home. The Best place to stay in Athens, Texas.
This hotel is conveniently located near the loop and easy to get to from town. Clean comfortable rooms, decent breakfast. Elevator is slow but stairs are conveniently located and it's just a 3 story hotel.
Very clean facility with a welcoming staff. Breakfast was the traditional hotel continental breakfast, however the staff worked hard to keep it fresh, hot, and stocked up. Room was clean, bed comfortable and hotel located in a convenient and safe area.
It is the newest and nicest hotel in Athens. I have stayed at 3 other hotels in town and they don't compare. Safe yourself the grief and just stay here. The rooms are very nice and don't smell. I like that the access is indoors and the pool is a plus!
Rooms and interior seemed to be recently redone, comfortable bed, friendly staff, close to restaurants and an amazing full breakfast. Swimming pool a little cloudy but other than that A+. Would definitely stay again!
Our stay was just one night but what a nice hotel! Bed was comfy, room was spotless upon arrival. Breakfast was a nice surprise in the morning - REAL eggs, and a Texas shaped waffle....plenty of fruit and cereal options as well. We were almost home when I received a call from the front desk who was nice enough to call and let me know I'd left my pillows, and ask if I'd like them shipped to my home. GREAT service! We will definitely recommend Best Western Royal Mountain Inn to friends and family.
Swimming pool not great water was nasty and would like to sleep till at least 10am before vacuuming starts up in hallway at 8:50am. The free breakfast was alright and room was clean. Our main reason for staying at this location was because the pictures of the pool looked nice. Pictures are very deceiving.
I really liked it here, nothing big to complain about. Our room was nice and roomy, the beds were comfortable, the staff are nice, and it is close to quite a few restaurants, stores, and of course Lone Star Camp. Breakfast was pretty good. It was lacking a main option. There were no grits or oatmeal packets, just side stuff like eggs, sausages, cinnamon rolls, toast, etc. It was really nice that they served vegetarian meat options. I don't know if they knew Adventists would be there or if they do that on a normal basis, but that was awesome. And just some general things outdoors like the rut that was almost always unexpected driving out of the lot, it would sound pretty drastic too. And the lighting in general on that street at night is basically non-existent. But this was a great place to stay.
Pillows seemed to be lumps of foam. Peeling paint in the bathroom. Elevator smelled bad. Front desk couldn't recommend a local restaurant, only knew the chains. Noisy party in the hall until after 1 am. I was traveling and picked the hotel based on star rating. Overpriced for what it is. Low average at best. 3 stars may be generous.
Room didn't have Kleenex or toilet paper upon arrival. Starting at Saturday 8AM they were out of pool towels, body towels, hand towels, and wash cloths. There were only 2 people at the pool that had towels, so I'm not sure where they were all at. However every time you'd look the cleaning staff was just standing outside smoking. Then to top it all off after leaving I realized I've been charged for my stay 3 times. This issue is yet to be resolved as I spoke with David at the front desk and he was very rude and unhelpful so I'm waiting to talk with the manager.
Great place to stay while visiting the scuba park in Athens, TX. Looked for several places in Athens and the Best Western had queen suites that accommodated the group of instructors for the two day certification trip for 24 students.
In town for business. Hotel is farthest east from town but many eateries close by. Good hotel and good overall value. Did not eat breakfast. Hotel staff friendly and prompt. If TripAdvisor wants input then quit requiring 200 characters for comments.
Multiple families were staying there for a wedding, including the wedding party. We congregated I the evenings in the conference room. Ample everything of HBA items, breakfast and quiet. Bed linens are first rate. Two things to be aware of: the entrance from the highway is steep- if approach it head on, you may scrape a bit, take it at 45 degree angle and you conquer it. The elevator is slow, so don't expect it to a bullet... It's also very quiet! Super spot!
The staff took great care of us! Our room was clean and comfortable. That's all I have to say about it. I am not really sure why there is a 200 character minimum on the reviews, but here I am rambling.
I was very surprised by this location. VERY comfortable beds. VERY clean hotel. Breakfast was good as well. I am a marriott member and stay 75 nights per year. Very impressed by this hotel in Athens. Would highly recommend and stay again.
My son and I had the opportunity to spend a night here and it was very comfortable, room was nice,it was quite, and clean. The breakfast was fair for hotel breakfast. We were greeted at check in and it was fast
This is a clean, somewhat updated place, located in a perfect spot to find and have access to the entire area. The staff was wonderful. Beds are very high, so if you're 5'5" or less, bring a step stool to get in bed!
Never mind that the place was cleaned impeccably, the rooms were spacious, the weight room was nice, and the staff was also extremely friendly. Too bad it was raining or we would have enjoyed the hot tube, too. Highly recommend.
Wow , I have to say I was extremely happy with my stay at this hotel ! For a family that travels a lot this has to be one of my favorite hotels we have come across yet!! First off the hotel was very clean and it smelled wonderful , not the usual “hotel” smell you usually smell. It was also nicely decorated and the employees were so so kind and very helpful !! The beds were also very comfortable I have to add! Overall I would definitively stay here again , I was a very satisfied customer !! If you are in the area I would highly recommend staying here !! Thank you Best Western for my lovely stay !!
I was very pleased with the hotel, the service and the quality of the room. I was allowed a late arrival, coming in from another state this was very important to me. When I did make it the hotel service attendant was very nice and informative and I truly appreciated her service.
hotel appearance was great. Staff was wonderful and friendly. Room however, was too hot, even with using AC unit to cool it down, Just seemed to want to be hot. The bed was worn and sunk in, and very uncomfortable. Not something I am used to at a Best Western Plus hotel.
Travor the front desk worker is very rude and unprofessional. Lisa Fields the manager call the police on me and my family for no reason because of the what Travor was trying to make my mother leave before the check out time because the maid wanted to go home early on Thanksgiving to be with her family and to celebrate her birthday. I sent over a email the Mr. Kong of Best Western. I am just waiting to hear from him. At the end of the day all late check out for 45 mins extra was in place but Travor changed it because he felt like it. Was told he was going to charge for another day stay if we did not hurry up out of the room because the maid wanted to clean the room early before check out time to go home to be with her family on Thanksgiving Day. The question is why did she come to work if she wanted to be at home? One hurt customer I am . Never been treated this way and hope not again in life.
We stay mainly in Best Western properties, but really never know until we get there just how nice, or not, it's going to be. This location was an unexpected pleasant surprise. And I say that only because Athens is not a big tourist destination (that I know of anyway), but it surpassed some of the BWs that we've stayed in located in larger, more popular cities. It's beautifully decorated, staff is friendly, room was beautiful, and the breakfast area with its double sided fireplace was well done.
Nice clean rooms and hotel with a staff that is very courteous and helpful. Convenient location and great value for the price. I have stayed here several times and will be back. Check-in and Check-out was a breeze.
I have stayed at many hotels before and this, by far, has to be the best hotel ever! I will definitely be returning! The beds give you great sleep, and the breakfast was superb! If it had not been too cold, we would have used the pool!
Very clean, comfortable hotel. Even the smell was welcoming ??. Very quiet, didn't hear other occupants at all. Nice breakfast from biscuits & gravy, waffles, eggs, etc. easy to find. Very welcoming & friendly staff.
I stay at this hotel every time for Canton Trade Days - it is only 20 miles from Canton, & Athens has a good selection of restaurants. The hotel is always clean & comfortable, & the staff is very friendly.
We were very pleased with the room, the staff. The room was a nice size with a couch. The hotel is very clean on the inside and outside. The breakfast was about normal for hotels without a restaurant. Cereal, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, bacon sausage. fruits and an assortment of muffins and bagels. Overall we had a pleasant stay at Athens. I would recommend staying here and we would return and stay at the Best Western again. The staff was very helpful at check in and we used express checkout.
We checked in late and left right after breakfast, but slept well on a good bed, had a good hot shower, and a good hot breakfast. We were traveling after a long day on the road and this was a good stop along the way. It was not hard to find and check in was easy and quick. Would recommend.
This hotel is one of the nicest Best Western Hotels we've ever stayed in before. The rooms were extremely roomy, clean, and comfy. The breakfast was a notch above your normal hotel breakfast. We only wished they had cribs available. We will definitely stay here again.
Five stars, each one well deserved. A well-presented property, clean rooms, welcoming staff, plenty of hot water, sink and shower drains work as designed, breakfast is varied, breakfast area adequate and the price for a room is right. What more could you ask? I'd stay here again.
We attended a wedding at a nearby winery, and didn't want to make the drive back to Dallas late at night. The hotel staff were very friendly, the room was very nice and clean, and the the bed was very comfortable. They also had a nice hot breakfast available in the morning. Overall this hotel exceeded my expectations.
The rooms are very clean, fragrant and well lit. THE bathrooms are very clean and well kept. The water seems to be always sufficiently hot. The sinks and the tubs drain well. The mattresses are firm and comfortable and there are pillows galore. The breakfast is definitely worth not having to leave the hotel and most of all, it'scomplimentary.
The rooms are large , clean , micro, fridge! The breakfast was a full breakfast The elevators were broken which was a slight inconvenience but the desk clerk offered to carry our bags up the flight of stairs to our room. They put us as close to the stairs as possible to make the suitcase Schleping easier. Very friendly and helpful staff! Highly recommend!!
This Hotel was excellent. The staff, the rooms and the amenities. The only problem I had was you couldn't use your points because of Canton Weekend. I didn't not feel that they should be able to control when and how you use your points.
We booked a suite through Expedia and when we arrived we only had two double beds and no suite. The place was booked so we had to make due with what we had. Next time I will call hotel directly instead of using third party
Very happy staying here as always. Such a clean and comfay place to stay. Staying here is the best in Athens Texas for sure. Close to Wal-Mart and Whataburger what else you need. Just stay need here. Collect the Best Western rewards points by filling this out survey.
Was in town for a horse show - just needed a place to stay that was clean, good A/C and safe. This BW was all of the above, we had a clean room/bathroom, clean sheets/bed, excellent A/C units and it was very quiet. Nicely lit parking lot (may not be ideal for horse trailers...) and a lovely decorated former. Did not use pool or workout for lack of time, looked nicely kept though. Will be back when in the area.
I have stayed in Best Western hotels in many places. Some were good, and some were not so good. This one is very clean and quiet. (Of course, our room is on the top floor which I definitely recommend. When husband walks across the floor, it echoes!) Our room is also quite large! When we checked in, we were told that breakfast was a "full buffet", however, the only hot food seemed to be waffles. The location is convenient to everything in this small town, just with the city would fix the entrance so you don't scrape the under side of your car coming in. Someone needs to correct the GPS location. My Google Maps had me take a street behind the hotel which does NOT lead to their parking lot. The price is quite good, so we would probably stay here again.
We stayed here again while visiting family and it was the best 3 nights sleep I had on our trip..there were a couple of little issues but they were so quick to help and very accommodating. Beds are comfy and even though they were booked up, it was so quiet. The breakfast is always good and wonderful options. Pool was nice and clean and exercise room was good for what I needed. Love that the AC works well and you can run the fan which helps since I love that for sleeping.
Great staff , front desk help was second to none . Keep up the great service and rooms were very clean and spacious. I will continue to travel and use best Western and there friendly staff and confortable rooms .
I booked online and completely missed the fact that I had a 3pm check in. I will arrive in the morning at 5am, so this was poor planning on my part. Athen must be very busy because everyone is booked or almost booked solid. I'll just say that Trevor that answers my prayers went out of his way and fixed me up. I am so GREATFUL! Thank you, Trevor of BWPlus in Athens, TX!!! I'm sure my stay will be great.
I travel a great deal in my job. Stay in many "nicer" hotels. Was in Athens for a funeral. Great value great service clean and comfortable. Well done. Recommended by a seasoned traveler if you ever need a stay in Athens
We stay at this hotel every year for our annual trip to First Monday. This year we were greeted by a front desk person who immediately started spouting his political views. I felt this was very inappropriate if I agreed with him or not. Other, it was a good stay. Good breakfast, clean and convenient.
A phenomenal place to stay for the price. Super clean hotel and the staff are super friendly. This facility was way beyond what we expected for the price point. We only stayed for 1 night for business so we didn't really get a chance to experience all the hotel had to offer i.e. gym, pool, etc. I will say the breakfast was excellent! Now the choices are what you would expect, eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, gravy etc. BUT what made this breakfast better was the fact that it was hot and fresh. The ladies "behind the scenes" were constantly making sure all was good and that the food was fresh. A rarity in my opinion. If you ever make a stop in Athens, TX and need a place to stay look no further than Best Western Plus Royal Mountain Inn & Suites. They'll do you right!
Customer service at check in/out was horrid! Clerk insinuated that he didn't care about the disabled member of my family. We requested rooms on the first floor close to a door because my aunt can hardly walk at 80 and is using a walker. We got put on the second floor, all the way at the end of the hall (even far from the elevator).
Pleasantly surprised at this little gem in a small town in Texas. Clean lobby, rooms, halls. Smelled good, looked good. The complimentary breakfast was excellent and the staff was there to make sure the goods stayed full so there was enough for everyone. The staff was courteous and approachable. I'll stay here again and recommend to all my friends.
We spent 6 nights there this month while visiting relatives. The room was wonderful with a very comfortable King size pillowtop mattress which was very much appreciated after an 800 mile drive. The staff from the front desk, the breakfast area and the woman who kept our room so fresh were all very accommodating and helpful. We plan to stay there again the next time we visit.
Everything was great about the BW in Athens! We had 5 different rooms amongst family members and everything was very nice. Beds were comfortable. A/C was cold during July summer days. Breakfast downstairs was good. Pool was sparkling clean. Staff was friendly and ready to assist. Very very nice property!!
We were in Athens for a little league tournament. This hotel took care of us like we were family. They let us use their machines to wash and dry our uniforms. The front desk clerk printed out maps of the area for us and reminded us of issues in the area. Apparently, Google Maps has the entrance wrong at the hotel. The clerk made sure we knew of the issue.
Clean and friendly. There was a storm prior to check in so internet and cable were down for about 2 hours but that could be expected with half the city's electricity out. Location was good. Didn't use the pool but noticed they had it cleaned and ready for use shortly after the storm cleared.
While staying overnight, I became ill with what I thought was a stroke. I contacted the front desk for help and they responded in an outstanding manner., by calling for an ambulance, contacting my wife, and making sure I observed and cared-for until the ambulance arrived. When it turned out I had an inner-ear problem but couldn't drive home, they made arrangements for me to stay until my kids arrived to pick me up. Even though I became ill, it was a pleasure to meet these outstanding people. The Motel was pretty great too. I can't recall anything to complain about the Staff were ALL: friendly and helpful, the Breakfast was excelent and my Grand Daughter enjoyed the pool very much, OUTSTANDING!
The first night was OK but I didn't think housekeeping cleaned my room very well. The second night I went to take my pills that were on my nightstand and my pill case was infested with ants! I've never seen so many ants indoors before! They were were everywhere! When I took the case to the front desk to show the clerk he said "Wow. I've never seen that before" and just stared at it. I had to ask to be moved to a new room. He did not offer. I was moved to a room next to the vending area so it was noisy. I sent an email to BW CS about my experience and they didn't respond. I feel like it was treated as "no big deal" that my room had ants, my things were ruined, and I had to pack up and change rooms late at night.
Our experience with this hotel was very good. Clean, comfortable, friendly staff, great breakfast, good location. Will definitely stay here again when in this area. Felt the cost was a little high, however, it is the summer.
Quiet comfortable room, bed was very comfy. Room was clean, but showing a little age. Good selection of TV stations. Breakfast was as expected. Excellent value for an overnight night stay. Decent dining choices a few minutes drive
The hotel staff was nice, the rooms nicely appointed and the breakfast was good. The hotel is close enough to attractions in the Lake Athens area. If you are looking for great value then is hotel is as good as any in the area.
Highly recommend this hotel. From check in to check out it had best service in the town. Ive been at most of them. Be it business or a night away from home its worth it! A must stay better then Holiday Inn even the pool!
Nice hotel, well maintained and clean. The staff were all friendly and the breakfast area was well stocked with all kinds of options. The rooms are clean and the entire hotel is neat and tended to daily.
Very clean, Staff was helpful and the Pool and Spa were great! Will be staying again for sure! Breakfast was great and beds were comfortable! Thanks BW for being a quiet, clean and helpful [place to stay while my home was getting ready, home away from home for sure :)
This hotel is very clean, friendly and quite. Breakfast isn't bad, standard. Bed are very good. Don't think I need to write 200 words to finish this review. You can only say so much. Everything was good!!!!!!
Awesome facility. Clean, comfortable rooms and hotel at great room rates. Terrific and friendly staff ready to assist you in every way. Great breakfast with a wide selection of items to choose from - including delicious coffee..
We stayed for four days while visiting for a local graduation, and were incredibly impressed with this Best Western. The staff were all very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The room was a good size and nicely appointed, and it was very quiet. The beds and pillows were comfortable, and overall we had a wonderful stay. The hotel seemed like it was out of the way at first, but as soon as we left to go "into town," we realized it was actually perfectly situated on the main road that lead to everything we needed - restaurants, the college, the post office - everything was a five to ten minutes away. Such a nice experience after an 18 hour drive!
This is a great place to stay if you are looking for quiet and relaxing. The staff was friendly and helpful. I will definitely return. There are so many places to visit in this small east Texas town and it is so convenient to Tyler. Lots of things to do
Trevor does a great job of taking care of His guests. Had all the paperwork for us to sign and emailed copies To our Office Manager for easy expensing. The Wonderful Woman who serves breakfast works extremely hard to make sure that Coffee is nice & fresh, puts out new servings of Eggs, Bacon, & Cinnamon Rolls as they come off. TV is always on for the Morning News. And there are always Fresh of the Press Copies of USA Today, love that little touch. Rooms were clean & pristine, My only 2 real nitpicks were the Driveway could be a little less gullied & the Water Pressure wasn't super High. Can't really hold that against them since there maybe some City Code & TX DOT influence over those minor inconveniences
Rooms were very spacious, clean, quiet, & had very comfortable beds. The breakfast was good every morning that I was there. Desk staff were all friendly & helpful in suggesting places to for dinner. I would stay here again if I am ever back in the area.
Woke up 3-4 hours because of the heat. Couldn't get the temperature gauge to cool the air down. Other than the heat, it was a good hotel. this is my 3rd visit here. One of the better hotels in Athens,Texas.
Awesome hotel we will stay again. Loved having our own thermostat in room. Breakfast offered a variety of food! Drinks too Overall great place to stay.great great great awesome! Athens not a bad little town.
Such a nice hotel. Staff is professional and attentive. Rooms are beautiful and the beds are fantastic. It was quiet and comfortable and decent internet connection to watch Netflix. The breakfast was great with a good assortment of choices.
This place is TOP NOTCH and I would stay here again for sure. Clean very very clean!!!! The staff was very friendly. The size of the rooms for the king suites are very good size, a lot of space to move around in. If you are looking for a hotel room in Athens Texas stay 100%
When business takes me to smaller towns, its still nice to find nice and newer properties, if possible, and this BW definitely fit the bill. It had everything most newer properties need, including mini fridge and microwave, if necessary, and a comfortable king size bed, all coming in at only $81 for the night ....
My family and I stayed here one night while visiting extended family. When you walk in the hotel looks clean and the lobby is pretty. The staff was friendly during check-in. Our room was on the third floor and was clean and smelled nice. There was a fridge in the room which I liked. The breakfast was your average hotel breakfast which consisted of waffles, cereals, gravy, biscuits, and muffins. Just be careful if you have a sports car because the drive way has a dip. So when you exit, the front end will hit the concrete if you are going too fast.
Nothjng fancy but very clean and quiet. Rooms have mini-fridge and microwave. Great free breakfast and very clean hotel common areas! Staff all very friendly and helpful. There are few options in the area and this is a great one!
I stayed in Room 301 for a few days which is a King Suite and it was very spacious! It came fully equipped with a fridge and microwave which came in handy for leftover food we had from eating out. The TV came with a ton of channels and free HBO which is great for watching movies. The bed was extremely comfortable. My wife said it's the best hotel bed she's been on. Usually we have trouble falling asleep on hotel beds but fell asleep right away. This hotel is very clean...one of the cleanest I've ever been on. The housekeeping staff does a great job. We stayed for multiple days and they always did a great job vacuuming, making the bed, and replacing towels. The lobby areas are clean and nice as well. The front desk staff is great. When I checked in they were really friendly. Every time I walked by them or through the lobby area everyone said hi. They really seem to enjoy working at the hotel. Overall, great stay! I would definitely stay here again the next time I'm in Athens.
The rooms were outstanding. The bed was very comfortable. There was a microwave and a refrigerator with a small but sufficient freezer. The staff went out of their way to assist. The sleep quality was excellent with no notable outside noise. The breakfast was very good except that the hot foods were never hot, in fact the eggs were always stone cold. Otherwise this would have been a 4.0 stay.
This hotel is conveniently located on main travel route Highway 31. Rooms are comfortable and spacious. Bathroom has good hot water and nice towels. Beds and pillows (one soft, one firmer) are very, very comfy. AC WORKS! In room fridge WORKS and really keeps things refrigerated not just cool. Decent breakfast (not the best I have had but more than adquate) - both hot and cold items. Good coffee at breakfast and in the room with little coffee/hot water maker. Everything seemed clean and in good working order. Housekeeping knocked and opened door to room very early ( 8:20 a.m.) both days so be sure to put the DO NOT DISTURB sign in the key. Hotel has very low visibility signage so don't pass it! I would stay here again.
Great visit. New and clean hotel. Room was clean and comfortable. Great breakfast with Bacon and eggs, rolls and waffles. Very friendly front desk. Will return on next trip. Room was spacious with couch.
I had to go to Athens to take an exam at TVCC and my stay at the BW was very comfortable. I have to be honest, I was worried that I had to travel alone to a town I had never been to before but the BW was well maintained which in turn provided a sense of security, the staff was friendly, the room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. If the need arises, I would stay again.
This hotel was clean, easy to find, and felt very safe. The breakfast was so so in quality but it was a full hot breakfast with lots of options. I will definitely stay here again when I have to be in this town.
My wife & I had an evening business event @ Texas Freshwater Fishery Center - conveniently just 5 mins from the hotel. Lodging was the basic room with queen, sofa & nice desk; plenty of outlets for chargers, laptop, etc. VERY clean; excellent bedding; great breakfast; VERY inviting "living room" off lobby for reading/relaxing ... but best of all? EXCELLENT staff! Truly made us feel @ home & like their warmth was not perfunctory. WILL STAY HERE AGAIN!
We were sorely impressed with the appearance of this hotel and the helpful attitude of the staff. When we checked in, the front desk clerk was courteous and helpful. The facility was exceptionally clean and obviously well kept.
This is my second time staying here and I raved about the Best Western Plus Royal Mountain a year ago and if anything I'm as pleased or more pleased than last year! This gem is clean, modern, well kept and value priced. The metal art is beautiful, the pillow top king bed is super comfy, the suite is spacious with lots of plug in points (a big plus for cell phone and tablet people!), the bathroom classy and clean. And then there are the little things that move them a step above...The positioning of the pillows on the bed, even the bathroom tissue is given a fancy touch! Trevor greeted us when we arrived and was as helpful and cordial as last year. The managers of this hotel obviously care about their property and their guests. I recommend this place as highly as any property I've ever stated in.
I was in the area for business. It is a new nice hotel. Bed and room was comfortable. Breakfast is normal hotel free breakfast-nothing to brag about. I will stay here again. Much nicer and cleaner than the other places in this town.
My son, my daughter in law and my new grandson flew in to come home for a brief visit. I was pleased at how friendly & helpful the front desk staff was. I bid on a silent auction package at OUR Little Towns Family Peace Project Fundraising Waffle Breakfast...& won! It included a FREE night at OUR Towns Best Western Hotel. I used that gift to house my visiting family...this way we would have a pool to swim in. Thanks for donating to OUR local charities and fundraising event. As a small business owner...I can truly appreciate that. It was a slower & quiet weekend at the Hotel, so they were able to get us in a downstairs room. My visiting family had their hands full with luggage and a little one traveling along. We appreciate being able to have a downstairs room. The room was exceptionally clean, it had all the amenities they needed. I was able to come in early and stock their frig and bring snack goodies along. The room was ready early, as I had requested an early check-in. We had a nice family swim time and the manager Lisa went and got my little grandson a couple of floaties from her apartment...that was a super kind gesture...and very much appreciated by ALL of us. My 5 month old grandson slept on the sofa and actually slept 9 hours straight...a first for him...needless to say...Happy Parents! I asked if my other son and I could pay for our breakfast since we weren't guess at Hotel...I wad told that guests of guests can come and enjoy breakfast...as long as it's just a few guests of course! What a breakfast spread, the Breakfast staff was friendly and asked if we needed anything else...they brought fresh biscuits out and allowed me to take the older biscuits home to feed to my outdoor critters...raccoons, possums and dillos! I'm glad that the Breakfast area has a tipping jar...we left a generous gratuity. I had set up a 1.5 hour Couples Massage at The Retreat Massage and Day Spa in Athens for my son, his wife and a 1.5 hour for my other visiting son...so I asked for a late checkout since I was babysitting my little grandson in the Hotel room...they accommodated my request...so the little tar hill & I napped together for nearly 2 hours...a very precious time for us both. I have rebooked 2 rooms for 2 days as the Tar Hills and more family members are coming home for The Hamburger Festival in September...this momma is excited! My ONLY suggestion/request is PLEASE make the pool area a SMOKE FREE zone instead of a SMOKE BREAK area for staff. Looking forward to our next upcoming stay. I'm proud as an Athenian to have such a luxurious Hotel in OUR Little Town! :-)
This is a nice room, being there for business only in the room a short time, in by midnight out by 7 am. Nice amenities did see a breakfast bar but did not take advantage of service. Very friendly staff and will stay here again when in area.
The hotel meets all the standards you or anyone is looking. For us, we have a grandma with some disability and a child so the beds are too high and the space is a little too tight for 4. Overall it is the BEST of the very BEST.
Convenient location to get anywhere you need in Athens or other surrounding close towns. Very friendly and helpful front desk staff! Room was spotless, nicely decorated, bed was comfy and pillows soft. My husband loved the air conditioning thermostat and I loved the extra blanket from housekeeping! Breakfast was great dining room and food bar was kept clean. We will be staying here on our next trip to Athens!
Stayed here for four days and three nights. Nicely decorated and clean hotel. Trevor and Andrew are 2 wonderful young men working the front desk who went out of their way to help us. Sheets could use an upgrade soon. Internet worked great...able to stream movies. Had a strange encounter with one of the housekeepers when she barged on the elevator with a cart as I was trying to get out. Pool and hot tub are nice!
Very nice find in a small Texas town. Conveniently located near the horse show site plus restaurants. The lobby entrance was very pleasant and welcoming. Peaceful ambiance and nicely decorated. Clean and tidy in all areas.
I've noticed that a good many BW are making themselves distinguished by incorporating town theme. The moment you walk through the doors to the check-in desk. It hits you, this town has a wild side that waiting to be explored. Don't get comfortable yet. Do you ever get a feeling that something from above is staring at you. Well take phone and take a great selfie with it. Endure your travels Enjoy your stays.
I never consider staying anywhere but a Best Western. I don't like it when someone else is making reservations for me and put us in some other motel.. I have never found a Best Western that I ever had a problem with. They are always clean and comfortable and the breakfast menu has plenty of choices to meet anyones tastes.
This is about twenty minutes from Trade Days and for us, was a perfect spot. Cute hotel, friendly staff, nice clean rooms, pool, hot tub, and overall great experience. I would go back for sure. We went to Trade Days and then cooled off at the pool, and still drive back for dinner in Canton. Along the drive there were several produce vendors to check out.
This is probably the nicest BW I have stayed in ever. It is 6 years old but looks and feels newer. Clean, comfortable, decent breakfast. My kids enjoyed the outdoor pool too. If there was any gripe I can make it is that there are ashtrays around the pool and it's like a smokers hangout. I think a dedicated smoking area should not be in such common areas especially where kids are. I'll still keep my five stars up but I was thinking about lowering it because of this.
The hotel had a Great staff, clean rooms, comfy beds, quiet a/c, good breakfast and the location was easily accessed! We stayed on a weekend in June for a family wedding. We will enjoy staying with them again when the need arises in Athens, TX
Super job by all. Everything went well. Internet was out for a short time but they got it back up and running soon. Desk clerk at check in was amazing even though his computer didn't want to cooperate. he even recommended a restaurant for us to eat while the internet came back up.
The Best Western Royal Mt Inn in Athens TX was very nice. The staff super friendly and outgoing. And I would recommend it to anyone needing a room in Athens, TX. I had to deduct a star however because the sheets on my bed were "pilled", (By definition, a “pill” is a surface defect made up of a small ball of fibers.), making them feel dirty. As it was quite late when I discovered this I decided not to call to have the bed remade, and to be honest here I thought sheets that are that worn should not have been on the bed to begin with.
This is the Nicest BW I have ever been too. Decor and furnishings are more indicative of a more upscale chain. Friendly and very comfortable/clean. Larger pool with hot tub. Decent spread for breakfast. Front desk was very interested in my experience and volunteered all info necessary to make for a pleasant stay.
I have nothing to say but good things about this hotel clean ,friendly, ez parking, quiet. I had my 90 year old dad with me and he couldnt find anything to fuss about that more then 5 stars there. Fast food and nice eating close. We will stay here on the way home also.
I enjoyed my stay in this hotel. I traveled for family function and my brother stayed in the same hotel. It was a very nice room and the breakfast was great for a free breakfast. Will stay here again.
The only reason I didn't give this place a 5 is because the biz center, which is what I needed on this trip, failed me miserably. The computers were so out of date I couldn't print a document off of my thumb drive. Other than that, the room was nice and breakfast was good.
This motel was excellent value for money. I would certainly recommend a visit if staying in this area. The motel is very clean and professionally run. The breakfast area is very spacious and the food was very well presented
I stay at the Best Western Plus In Athens, Texas every time I pass through (which Is often), easy on, easy, off the highways. Great (CLEAN) rooms with really comfortable beds and even better sheets. Wonderful staff providing the best service from check-in to breakfast to check-out.
We usually stay here during our shopping trips to Canton a couple of times per year. Hotel is always clean, everything looks nice, rooms are nice and beds are comfortable. Breakfast is good. Food is hot and fresh!
This hotel was clean and the rooms were also very clean and well appointed. I stayed while on a family trip and my brother and nephew also stayed at the hotel. We were all happy with out experience here and will stay again next time we are in town.
Overall, I was pleased with the accommodations, the service and the breakfast at this specific hotel. I used the treadmill in the fitness room and enjoyed my workout. I was pleased and will stay at this hotel again.
Hotel itself is nice, beds are comfy...no complaints there. Staff was nice. Pretty place, but the breakfast was awful. It was edible if you are starving but definitly not good tasting. My husband and I ate it the first breakfast but the next day we went somewhere else for breakfast. I would come back to this hotel but just so you know don't get your hopes up on the "free breakfast"...just grab a banana and go eat breakfast somewhere else. Oh and they ran out of coffee so we had to wait about 15 minutes till more was finally made.
Staff is very helpful. Great Location near shops and restaurants. College nearby. 20 minutes from Canton. Clean safe hotel...highly recommend. Breakfast provided...nice selection. comfortable beds and nice linens.
Lived in Athens for a while, haven't been back in 8 years. When I booked the best western I thought I was booking the best western that was on the hill, a little further down the road. Imagine our surprise when we found a funeral home on the hill! Lol! Realized that I had in fact booked the best western only the new one. We were very please with this place. Clean rooms, no smoke smell, friendly staff and closer in town. Breakfast was great, beds were comfy, we couldn't really have asked for more. We will definatly come back here!
This is one of the nicest hotels in which I have stayed. It is super clean (BIG PLUS). Every thing works. Awesome decor. The beds are luscious. Quiet. Staff is friendly and helpful. The best place to stay in Athens. Close to everything. Nice breakfast with eggs and waffles and fruit.
Nice, safe and secure hotel. Great staff. Easy on, easy off the highways. Breakfast has a great variety to choose from. Loved the Cappuccino machine. Will be sure to stay there again on my next trip to the area.
Great value very clean good prices. Enjoyed our stay will return here next time I am I the area. I would recommend this hotel for business or pleasure. I really dislike the 200 word requirements of trip advisor but otherwise like the app
Can't go wrong with this hotel! Affordable, comfortable, clean, feel totally safe, dining is just a short distance away, and the bed is great! Stayed on the first floor and it is quiet. Every time we come through Athens, this is where we stay because it is consistently good.
The room was very spacious and clean! We had a large group in town for a wedding and everyone was happy! The hot tub was clean and nice which is a big plus for me because I enjoy a good soak! The breakfast was really good! I was pleasantly surprised.
Overall it was a very pleasant stay. Will definitely consider staying again. Room furniture is beginning to show signs of wear but the room was still clean and comfortable. Complimentary hot breakfast was good except for the bacon.
this hotel is very nice, rooms are clean and comfy. the breakfast is awesome, great choices. the pool is very nice. the staff go above and beyond! i have stayed here 3 times now!! would highly recommend!!
It's a treat to stay here - especially the bed & linen quality and breakfast choices. Its location is on the active, better end of town, and is near the loop (which makes it easy to get around). I would recommend the pickiest friend to stay at this hotel without thinking twice!
We came to town for a wedding and the check in was not until 3:00, which is what time we needed to be at the wedding! I took a chance to see if the room was available early so we could freshen up and change. The staff was very nice and had a room ready that was perfect! Thanks for being so helpful and friendly!
The staff at this hotel, specifically Amanda, were most helpful and pleasant. I enjoyed my stay very much. I stayed in a King bed room, which included a sofa, a desk, mircrowave & refrigerator - everything I needed for my stay. The room was clean & very comfortable. Amanda placed me at the opposite end of the hall from 2 families with several small children, which I greatly appreciated.
This is a great hotel. It is very clean and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I have already made a reservation for an upcoming trip there. Check in and out is very easy. If you are traveling in the area I would highly recommend this hotel.
I've stayed in a lot of motels ranging from the roadside dives in which I feared driving away with a bad case of the itch to The Gaylord...so I know hotels. I was not prepared for this one. At $80, I was expecting a fair hotel at best. What I got was FAR more than I expected and worth FAR more than the $80 I paid. I give this place a full 5 stars without hesitation, not just because of the value, but because it was truly a nice room with all the amenities...including a super comfortable bed.
I don't have room to write everything I wrote in the previous part of the survey, but I will say this, to get a good room at the last minute, Best Western came through. Friendly front desk and other employees, very clean room, reasonable prices and we appreciated how the desk personnel worked with us. Breakfast needs to be wider and more room for displaying food. Breakfast had lots of items to choose from. Good stuff!! We'll stay there again. We fell in love with Athens, TX
Stayed at this Best Western on a family trip to Texas. We were greeted by an extremely courteous and helpful staff member and made to feel at home. The room was very nice, the breakfast excellent, and the service was great. The hotel was very nicely decorated. This was one of the best Best Westerns we have ever stayed at! Definitely recommend it to everyone!
These folks were so nice and the room was just wonderful. We booked this because of the reviews we read and I am so thankful we read them. The pillow top bed was so comfortable, we both slept good. Even the breakfast was above average including scrambled eggs and sausage.
Nice hotel for Athens. Clean exterior, smells nice, rooms are well kept. Breakfast was nice. Only complaint for this trip was that the guests on the third floor were stomping around like they weighed 500 lbs with cement blocks strapped to their feet. Extremely noisy for this stay. However my other stays have been very pleasant and I will continue to stay at Best Western plus. Close to restaurants, stores and gas stations.
This hotel was very clean a little cheaper then a Holiday Express. I would have stayed at the Holiday Express but they raised their rates and the Goverment Per Diem rate was less, so I tried Best Western and was very surprised, I would stay again!
Went to the Best Western Royal Mountain Inn on Wednesday night. After working most of the day, flying to Dallas from DC, driving for 90 minutes I was hoping it was a nice place to just get some rest. I was not disapointed. Entering the lobby everything was clean and bright, the hotel clerk was cheery and gave me the choice of rooms. I asked what would be the most quiet and she put me on the third floor. Getting into the room I was pleasantly surprised. It had plenty of room, was made up nicely and very clean. The ice machine and a vending machine for drinks was on that floor and everything worked and again was clean. The bed was comfortable, water hot and bathroom had plenty of space no complaints. The breakfast was a nice touch. There was eggs, sausage, biscuits with gravy, waffles, pancakes, cold cereal fruit, yogurt, coffee, juices, newspapers all there for the patrons. The woman who was taking care of the breakfast area was there and kept it clean and stocked. One thing to note is from the website everything looks larger than it is. The lobby is smallish, the breakfast area would be cramped with more than a dozen people and the excersize room only has three pieces of equipment in poor shape which is my only complaint. Otherwise a great place to stay.
Friendly, courteous and efficient staff. We'll maintained property and very clean rooms with fresh linens and towels. Beds are very comfortable. I fell asleep almost immediately and the wifi access is probably the easiest I have ever experienced at any hotel I've stayed at before. Kudos to the manager for your well trained staff and the emphasis on customer service.
Reservations in order when we checked in - very helpful, friendly young man at desk. Breakfast was hot and had variety of choices both mornings. Did ask staff to have housekeeping to remove dirty item left on floor, staff member wrote issue down. Had not been done when we left the second day, somewhat disappointing. Therefore can't give but average overall rating.
This is one of the best hotels that we've had the opportunity to stay in Athens, TX. The location is easily accessed and it is very near several restaurants in the area. I recommend this hotel to anyone in the area.
Our trip started with us booking a room with 2 queens. Upon arrival we were put in the honeymoon suite which had 1 king. Not good when it's my husband, my 89 year old mother and me. The night desk guy, David, was arrogant and patronizing. The shower which was handicapped had a broken holder so it had to be held continuously and the water flooded the bathroom and went under the door and out into the room. Horrible experience. We will never stay here again!!
