The Monterey Hotel, BW Signature Collection

I've never posted a bad review on this website. I'd rather live, learn and put it down to experience. Given the very senior clientele visiting throughout our visit, I believe the hotel is never held to account. This place makes its profit on very old clients that accept without complaint. Given the prices charged, for the very little offering - this place is absolutely mediocre and is nothing but a disappointment. Our family member at 78 years treated terribly. A Premier Inn - (2 available in the area) would have cost a third of the cost and been so much more hospitable than 3 days in this catastrophe. Hotels like the Monterey should be monitored by the authorities. Faulty Towers has a better covering and this was fiction!

Very clean hotel albeit quite dated. About a 15/20 minute walk to the waterfront. The pools and jacuzzi were a bonus. We were room only so can't comment on the food but we enjoyed our stay.

Stayed once again at the Monterey Hotel this time to celebrate our anniversary . As always our room was clean and bright ,fresh towels every day.Tea and Coffee topped up when needed .Breakfast was good plenty of variety ,and friendly helpful staff looking after everyone. Bar food again was good ,we didn't eat in restaurant. Indoor and outdoor pools are well maintained and plenty of fresh towels available. We must thank the manager for giving us some vouchers for complementary drinks to celebrate our anniversary they were much appreciated. This is a great hotel and deserves a four star rating and we would highly recommend a visit.

Just returned from Monterey hotel. Firstly the staff were all lovely and we were half board and the food was really good. There is a bus stop right outside which was a bonus. I did ask before my stay for a room with walk in shower due to mobility and although this could not be guaranteed unfortunately I had to make do with strip washes as shower in spa was not appropriate. The hotel does not have air conditioning so beware if going in hot weather as we could not sleep due to the heat. We did have fan in room but did nothing. More electric sockets are needed as had to unplug either TV, Kettle etc to charge phones etc.

Absolutely brilliant. So clean and fantastic food. Every member of staff from Reception, Restaurant and Room Service, greeted guest's with a welcoming smile. As a senior lady travelling on my own, I appreciated the attention I received. An added bonus was a Bus Stop just outside the Hotel, so it was great to take a bus to several area's of the Island to visit. I enjoyed it so much and have booked for next year and will be taking my Daughter with me.

A really lovely hotel. Clean and spacious rooms, especially for a family of 4. The pools were a big hit with our children. These, too, were clean and well maintained. The outdoor seating area by the pool was a great place to sit and have a drink. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We didn't eat in the hotel but others said how nice it was. The hotel is well positioned on a bus route, giving easy access to town, the zoo etc. It took us just over 20 mins to walk into town but this could have been slightly quicker in cooler temperatures and without young children in tow! The only negative was how hot our room was. It was stifling! A small fan was provided but wasn't sufficient for the size of the room. That said, we still had a fantastic stay and would certainly return.

It's my first visit and it's been a lovely experience. The staff are all so friendly and polite. The room was clean and comfortable. We ate in the bar area and the food was delicious and very reasonably priced. It was all freshly cooked and hot. I hope to come again soon.

The hotel was very good, located on the bus route too. Ideal for getting about. Somethings a bit dated in the room but all well kept. Squeaky flooring was a real nuisance in the room ,seemed like all sides had the same issues. Staff were all very good, food was exceptional, drinks as expected. Would definitely stay there again.

From start to finish, our stay was so relaxing. We were met with a warm welcome and this level of hospitality continued for the rest of the week - nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was plentiful and of a high standard. The outdoor pool was a welcome addition where my daughter enjoyed hours of fun in the sunshine. We also made use of the indoor pool and jacuzzi. The staff are what makes this place so enjoyable thank you all

I can't recommend this hotel enough, the staff, food and cleanliness are well above their 3 star rating in our opinion. It was a refreshing change to find that the staff were very customer focused, they were helpful and extremely friendly. The evening meals were as good as if not better than any of the hotels we have stayed in, (U.K. and abroad). Our room was a very good size and the bed was very comfortable, okay so the bedroom furniture was a little bit dated but it was perfectly useable. The room was spotlessly clean with toiletries replaced daily and clean towels regularly.

The best customer service from Philister, Tony and Catarina! We've had 2 days ferry delay, they've helped us to get nice room booking and without any stress and worry. They've all been very friendly, patient and understanding ❤️ Their care made our first trip to Jersey much better ✨ The hotel location is quite useful, the rooms are clean and tidy. And outdoor swimming pool is a good bonus. I recommend to stay in this hotel, it's been a pleasant experience. Thanks again to these staff members ⭐

This hotel is slightly out the town, but is an easy walk into the centre or buses run past the hotel. We chose this hotel as it had car parking and during our week long stay there was always plenty of space available, something I had been worried about. We arrived just at the end of the first heatwave and when we went to our room (ground floor, 106) it was definitely on the warm side, but it is on the ground floor with a door out to the poolside and a fan was provided, so it wasn't too bad for us despite the absence of air-conditioning. The room itself was comfortable and cleaned every day to a very high standard with thoughtful touches like a shower mat, something that isn't always provided, to make us feel safer in the shower. Tea, coffee and biscuits were replenished daily as well. As my wife struggles to walk any distance now I was a bit worried about dining as it would be difficult for us to go into town for a meal, however we never felt the need to do this. Bar meals were good and reasonably priced and we ate there several times, the main restaurant is adjoining and the food there was excellent and we ate there the rest of the time, note that you really need to book this ahead of time as it did get very busy there at times during our stay. The most outstanding part of this hotel though was the staff, all so helpful and friendly which created a great ambience. When they learnt of my wife's food intolerances (not allergies fortunately) they made a point of providing a menu marked up with those that she couldn't have and alternatives which was much appreciated. If we return to stay in Jersey again we would have no hesitation in staying at this hotel again.

Bad customer service. Cut my finger on metal in mini fridge in room had to go to A and E hospital. Staff were not helpful didn't even apologise. Asked for fridge to be changed, nearly took them 2 days. Asked for them to pay my taxi fare that didn't go down well, but got it in the end. Had to have my finger glued so it was water proof. Also shower curtain kept breaking and drawers in room were broken. Hard to open and close.

I had a wonderful experience at The Monterey Hotel, largely thanks to the outstanding service from Amos, Eric, and Sharon. They were incredibly attentive, warm, and professional, making us feel genuinely welcome from start to finish. Exceptional service like theirs is hard to find, and they truly made our visit memorable. We will definitely be back!

I could not find a fault with this hotel. The food was absolutely top class. The staff were very efficient, and friendly. Anybody using this hotel would be happy. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Latest of many stays at the Monterey over many years, mostly with my wife. Wouldn't go anywhere else! Rooms, food, cleanliness, friendliness of all staff and position within St. Helier excellent. Easy to get there from Liverpool, and Jersey and surrounding islands well worth a long visit. About to book again later this year.

Good location - ease of access to St Helier. And bus stop to other locations just outside. Friendly staff. Lovely food. Nice & clean. Indoor and outdoor pool (both used). Only downside - bathroom : shower small, difficult to get into & out of (narrow entrance & high step). Also low water pressure, & nowhere to put soap or shampoo when in shower.

This hotel is absolutely amazing. The staff are so friendly yet extremely polite and professional. The food is always great with a fantastic choice.

A comfortable hotel with friendly attentive staff. Food good. Breakfast could be a little more varied with much more fresh fruit. A little far to keep walk into town so half board could be a good option. Although there is a passing town link bus.

Just spent another holiday at the Monterey.Staff are so friendly and welcoming .Our room again was clean ,fresh towels every day .Tea coffee and biscuits replaced daily . We ate most nights at the hotel and the food was great.Indoor and outdoor pools well maintained.Would certainly recommend the Monterey .Hoping to return in September Monterey should be a 4 star hotel

Very conveniently situated hotel. Reception staff very helpful but not enough signage on exact location of room when leaving the lift. Room bright and airy. Pleasantly decorated. No light pull on string for bathroom light - string was grubby. No hooks to hang overcoats and insufficient number of hangers in wardrobe for 2 people. Bed comfortable. Refreshments in room sparse and not replenished daily - although rubbish emptied abd towels changed daily. All staff were friendly and polite. I can personally recommend the fish and chip supper from the bar menu - it was delicious. The other two members of party had the salad which looked very pretty. Looks aren't everything though. Less than a 5 minute walk to nearest shop and Cafe the Grand Marche Co-op and Dunelm. Inside Dunelm there was a lovely cafe for coffee, cake and toasties. Really good service and price.

Excellent hotel with genuinely friendly and helpful staff. Restaurant food was superb. We were on a walking holiday - people chat as they walk - and a recurring topic was how wonderful the dinners were. If I had gone out for a special meal in a restaurant I would have been extremely happy with that. I declared an allergy at the start of the week, and every evening I had a special menu with individual advice. Its location in St Helier probably means people don't pop in just for dinner - but they should.

A great 4 night stay with weather to boot.a particularly to Tony who went beyond to make us feel so special on our late arrival who kindly had sandwiches made for us and Sharon the breakfast waitress who has a lovely smile to see first thing in the morning to brighten up the start of the day.Thankyou you 2 Adrian and tina room 106.ps thank you to the hotel for the bottle of bubbly 🍾

The food was absolutely amazing. The three course evening meal was the best ever. What an amazing chef. We had DBB. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was clean tidy and comfortable. We'd definitely stay again

We once again visited The Monterey Hotel staying for 4 nights .Faith was on reception and we got a lovely warm friendly greeting . Our room was ready on arrival and was on the floor we had requested ,the rooms in the Monterey are bright and airy,have tea and coffee facilities ,plenty of towels and shower gels, are cleaned on a daily basis Food is good especially the new bar menu and breakfast has plenty of variety.The staff are friendly and polite and are always very helpful.This is why we visit at least twice per year and it never disappointing Well done to the Manager and staff .

Situated a good 30 minutes walk out of city centre, bus stops directly outside hotel. Views from room overlook outside pool, Indoor pool just warm but spa pool very warm as are shower cubicles, Hotel is immaculate. Staff are so friendly and extremely helpful. Rooms comfortable but warm. Bed has soft mattress and 2 pillows. Telephone, tea/coffee facilities, replenished daily as are towels. Hairdryer. Food:- 2 menus, Bar or restaurant. Can definitely recommend the salmon, £17.95, cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding, found the cheese & biscuits overpriced. Drink prices ok. Snacks available at the bar between 12.00 & 2 p.m. £11.95 for a sandwich. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Hopefully will return soon.

Had a great weeks stay in the Hotel . Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was lovely breakfast had loads of choice good walking distance from town centre and bus stops right outside too

Stayed for a week at Monterey Hotel. Had a lovely time. Food was very nice and the staff were very helpful and cheerful all the time.

Just come back from the Monterey hotel Jersey and we had a lovely time. All of the staff were so helpful, my husband is blind and they were always offering to help. The room was spacious and very clean. The breakfast had everything on that you wanted and the evening meals were very varied. This was our first visit to jersey and will definitely return I would definitely recommend this hotel.

What a fantastically friendly and well run hotel, every single member of staff were super helpful and made our stay extra special, the food is some of the best I have eaten at a hotel for a long long time, the breakfast was great and the evening meals were another level, the rooms were comfortable if a little dated. The hotel is on a mainish road, but one of the benefits of this is there is a bus stop directly outside. I would definitely recommend staying here

Hotel was welcoming with friendly staff. Hotel was clean and tidy but could benefit from some refurb in places. Good food.

It's our second time visiting this hotel we would recommend it to anyone lovely clean rooms, fantastic food, service in every part of the hotel was excellent looking forward to our next visit

My wife and I stayed in the Monterey Hotel in St Helier, Jersey for a week from the 15th Sept 2025. Overall, we found it to be a well run, comfortable hotel with helpful, friendly staff, very good food, a lovely, quiet indoor swimming pool (we didn't use the outdoor pool) and conveniently located next to bus stops (we bought 7 day visitor bus passes). We did have an issue with our initial room allocation due to the very loud noise coming from the Kitchen extractor fans outside our window. We were, however, moved to another room within an hour or so which was much quieter. The rooms don't have air conditioning (we wouldn't expect it in the UK) and it was warm in the room at night, but it wasn't that bad. Throughout our stay we found the staff, without exception to be efficient, helpful and friendly. The food throughout the week was excellent. 1. There were a wide variety of well-prepared hot and cold options for breakfast which was mainly self-service. Tea or coffee and some additional kitchen prepared options had to be ordered and were delivered to our table. 2. The time you wanted to eat the 3-course evening meal needed to be booked each day at breakfast. The meals themselves were extremely well prepared by the kitchen staff and efficiently delivered by the restaurant staff with a choice of 3 or 4 options per course. We would have no hesitation in recommending the Monterey to anyone visiting St Helier.

Check in was very good with plenty of information the check in staff were very helpful during our 2 week stay nothing was too much trouble. The room was very nice plenty of storage, a good selection of drinks that was topped up every day, the bathroom was good we had a shower. The room was cleaned every day to a very high standard. My wife had an onion intolerance, the head chef was brilliant going through each evening meal with her, the food was to a very high standard and served well, breakfast was excellent every morning. The restaurant staff were always welcoming and had a smile for you. We used the pool quite a few times always clean. All in all an excellent stay Thank you all very much for making our stay in Jersey a one to remember. Lawrence and Marion.

Wonderful break at this lovely hotel. Warm welcome and tea and coffee on arrival. Every member of staff was so helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Food exceptional, good choice and cooked to perfection. We stayed in room 307 overlooking the swimming pool. Very quiet location. Would highly recommend, hopefully we will return next year.

Stayed at the Monterey hotel for a week, would recommend this hotel the staff were brilliant and helpful nothing was a problem Food and facilities were excellent both indoor and outdoor pools Would definitely go back to this hotel.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Monterey hotel really nice staff extremely helpful very clean rooms although slightly dated but slept very well. Excellent buffet breakfast, restaurant/bar food very nice the only let down was the Sunday roast very small portion size and lack of vegetables.

Five days to experience Jersey in St Helier and it was good. The hotel was by a bus stop so everywhere was accessible. Lots to see and do. Hotel staff were so helpful and friendly nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent either way varied menu. The rooms were clean with plenty of storage. Would go again.

The Monteroy is a well-run hotel - generous sized bedrooms, excellent quality food and staff that go out of their way to help. The two pools are lovely, the jacuzzi excellent. Town is easily accessible by foot or public transport and the car park is a reasonable size if you've hired a car/brought your car over the ferry.

Location great, if you are able to walk, only 20 min walk into town. All staff great, esp dining room and bar, reception very helpful also. Food excellent very good choices and plentiful , service superb. Bedroom very comfortable, we were on ground floor( only traffic noise)Bus service outside entrance, to town and zoo( great day out , and good eateries) All in all a super place to stay, would give it 5 stars. Only 1 picky thing, bedroom furniture could be updated, but very minor point.Would certainly visit again.

The staff are certainly friendly and the hotel is conveniently located (less than 10 minutes from Central Market). But we regret that our nights were not very restful due to inexplicably high heat during the nights and, above all, fallible sound insulation making us enjoy every footstep from the room above; at all hours of the day 😡

Stayed here for a week in August 2025. All the staff were friendly & helpful, the hotel was clean & the food was good. However I probably wouldn't stay there again. It's about a 20 mins walk into St Helier but you need to remember after a busy day out that it's uphill on the way back but you can get a bus. There is no Aircon in the rooms, no fridge & no safe (one at reception). Reception will give you a fan but there is only one spare single socket in the room so I couldn't have the fan on & charge my phone without unplugging the TV. The bathroom was very compact (Rm 307) & poor water pressure on the shower that is over a bath so you have to stand right next to the taps to use the shower. Someone else's bathroom fan squealed & echoed up the service riser, likewise a noisy tap in another room caused a hammering sound to echo up the riser & both of these woke me during the night on several occasions. I would have expected a guest or the cleaners to have reported these & maintenance to fix them but it happened all week. The corridor windows outside 307 are not double glazed, don't shut properly & don't block the sound from the traffic on the main road outside at night so keeps you awake sometimes. They have a bar but for the size of the hotel there are very few tables/seats to just sit & relax with a drink unless you're eating as well. The Jet2 advert says some evening entertainment but I'm unaware of any taking place.

We've just had a lovely few days at this hotel. We stayed in a family room which they accommodated to fit 5 of us and it was plenty big enough. The room was cleaned to a high standard and we had our hot drinks selection refreshed every day. It was great having the pools for the kids as they were a great form of entertainment for the times we were in the hotel. The breakfast was always tasty and plentiful with a good selection. I would say the best thing about this hotel which made it stand out for us though, were the staff. They were always so friendly and made us feel so welcome, especially with the children. My son was playing in a tennis tournament and they always made a point of wishing him luck in the morning and asking how he got on in the evening. For the amount of people they must see through their doors every day it was so lovely to not just feel like a number. Would definitely recommend staying here!

This is a lovely, welcoming hotel with superb staff who are always available to help. The hotel is very clean and tidy. Our room was cleaned to a very high standard . We were fortunate to be on the ground floor and the room was directly accessible to the outside sitting area with the outdoor pool and adjacent to the indoor pool. The only issue about the room was the bathroom was quite small. The bedroom was south facing and was very warm through the night as the hotel does not have air conditioning. We were bed and breakfast. A range of cooked dishes was available as well as a selection of cold meats and cheese. We ate in the restaurant 4 times and the food was very good. Service both for breakfast and dinner was excellent. The hotel had limited relaxing areas and casual sitting ,particularly in the bar area,which we found limiting for seating after dinner . The hotel is convenient for accessing the centre of St. Helier by bus or for those who are able a 15 minute walk into the centre. One thing of which we were unaware was the in the evening all the shops shut at 5 30pn so no browsing in the evening. The Monterey hotel offers a clean,well maintained and managed hotel. The best part of this hotel is the staff. They are excellent and to be congratulated.

I'd say the hotel more use to couples but we visited with 2 kids. All the staff were so friendly, nice and helpful. Kids were able to use the pool inside and out. Breakfast was spot on. Room and hotel very clean. If your wanting a room, a pool and a decent breakfast then The Monterey ticks all the boxes.

Nice little hotel that is well positioned near the centre of St Hellier, decent breakfast very helpful staff and clean rooms.

It was a nice enough hotel but average at best. You could not fault the food and the service was good in the restaurant but there was a strange taste with the water they gave you in the restaurant so could not drink it and we had to drink bottled water. I told the waiter about it but I don't think anything was done about it. But the food was very good. The room was clean but dated. There was a musty smell in the bathroom and corridor on the second floor. I don't know where it was coming from. Maybe the hotel should investigate this. The room was comfortable. There was a 20 min walk into town or you could get the bus.

What an hotel , it is excellent in every way. We had a lovely holiday. The staff were professional and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them. We will definitely be going back there. Our room was very comfortable and clean. Both breakfast and dinner were extremely well prepared and very well presented. Well done to everyone at The Monterey and thank you for making our holiday so memorable.

Probably the best hotel I have ever stayed in. Fantastic food and incredibly helpful staff. Would love to go again. No negative points at all.

We enjoyed our stay at The Monterey. Lovely big family room, very clean and quiet. Comfy beds. Toiletries and tea/coffee/hot chocolate (which kids loved!) provided and replenished daily. Reception staff friendly and helpful. Maids were lovely. Kids loved the pool and jacuzzi which were very quiet - we were often the only people in there! 10 min walk to shops and restaurants in St Helier through the Millenium Park. A little further to sea front but all walkable, no complaints from our youngest who is 10. Excellent location. We didn't eat or have a drink at the hotel so cannot comment on this. Very quiet location. We thought it was very reasonably priced. Would recommend.

this hotel is just on the outskirt of St Helier, made it very easy to drive the car into the country side without using the one way system in town. it was about a 10 minute walk into town centre. There is an indoor and outdoor pool, which is great for good and bad weather. the rooms were very clean and comfortable, there were lifts to all floors. the restaurant was fantastic, such a variety of food, for both breakfast and dinner. The staff were the most kind, friendly, helpful staff that I have met. we would definately recommend this hotel to our friends and stay there again if we return to Jersey.

I have bought two groups on consecutive weeks to this hotel. First of all the rooms are lovely, clean, roomy and very comfortable. The food is excellent, very well presented and a superb variety on the menu. the staff is a credit to any hotel even a top London one. They are friendly, welcoming, charming, fun and extremely professional. So the hotel really cannot be beaten. On week one the joke that is Condor Ferries cancelled our sailing so we had to leave a day earlier, the hotel Manager and staff were so helpful and they arranged a buffet for us as we were missing dinner, they were so caring and charming they turned what could have been a disaster into a success. On week two the joke that is Condor Ferries cancelled our sailing home again and we had to stay an extra night. The hotel did a great job in sorting rooms out for everyone again the Hotel turned what could have been a disaster into another success. On behalf of my company Vision Getaways I would like to thank the Hotel and all who work there. They are all a credit to the hospitality industry. Thank you so much and we look forward to returning but NOT WITH CONDOR FERRIES!!!!

I stayed at the hotel for two days. Very friendly staff at the hotel and while the food is really good it's pretty pricy and a lot of the guests agreed. I was over charge by the waiter so I had to pay the difference not a problem but the staff was very polite about the matter and explain why it happened. I had a problem with my room so I complained and got moved to a even bigger size room I was very happy with how the hotel handled the situation. I tested out the pool, stream room and hot tub a little disappointed how the hot tube wasn't warmer enough a shame but it was still nice to use and to chill out. I do feel they could give free lockers to people who stay at the hotel would be a nice thing. The price for this hotel is in the mid range price so it isn't cheap but not far off by being expensive. I stayed at the Apollo two years ago and you do get vale for money and it is slightly in a better location as it's very close by the town centre were this hotel is a 10 min walk away from the shops. staying that at this hotel you sure do get a little bit more then Apollo so I can see why they charge more. Overall it's a great hotel if you are staying for a few days very few things to complain about I would return again .

The Monterey Hotel is well positioned about a 15minute walk from the restaurants and bars in the centre of St.Helier. If you're driving beware of the one-way streets which may make finding the hotel for the first time a small challenge. Having said that there is plenty of parking available. Our room on the 2nd floor was comfortable &cleaned daily. All the rooms have radiators for cold nights. Our room also had a lovely deep bath with a powerful shower & toiletries provided. The wi-fi is excellent (& free) throughout the hotel. There is no safe in the room though you can pay £5 to keep valuabiat reception. Our bed was comfortable &there was not much noise either outside or from other residents. One of the big plusses of the hotel is the nice indoor pool, jacuzzi &steam room (&an outdoor pool for the summer). They were all very quiet when we used these facilities (with the exception of 2people who never moved from the jacuzzi for over 2hours) The breakfast is excellent -there is a fantastic buffet of hot dishes available (eggs, sausages, bacon, black pudding, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, hash browns) as well as kippers, smoked haddock, boiled or poached eggs which can be ordered from the waiting staff. There is also a good choice of cereals, yoghurts, cold meats, cheeses etc... available. The bar staff were excellent (particularly the 'evening' barman from Serbia -sorry I didn't get your name)& the bar is open till midnight. There are a range of local keg beers, spirits &soft drinks to buy at reasonable prices. Meals at the restaurant are pretty good too with a changing menu at £24 for 2courses. The reception staff were very friendly but didn't seem to know much about the area. Overall, a very nice 3*hotel.
