"No one works there"
Emily J, 11 Octobre 2024

I couldn't check in, because no one was working there. There was no bell to ring, so I called the phone number, but no answer. I started chatting with hotels.com to try and cancel the reservation without losing any money, and while I was doing that, an employee finally came out of the back room and checked me in, 30 minutes after I'd arrived. The room was fine. It was quiet and I felt safe there. I did not feel safe coming and going in the parking lot. There were a lot of men loitering, and one woman who appeared to be on drugs.

"It wasn't terrible, but I won't be staying here again."
Cletus-Atwood, 02 Octobre 2024

This place was more run-down than I expected. The parking area was littered, there was an overflowing trash can near the front entrance, along with piles of cigarette butts on the ground nearby. My room had some large water stains on the ceiling; there was evidence of amateur painting and repairs in the bathroom. On a more positive note, the bed was comfortable, the air conditioning worked quietly, the room was clean and the breakfast was decent. It appears that the biggest problem here is a management failure. Instead of making guests feel like they're in a low rent district, why not have staff pick up the trash outside the building, and empty the trash cans more often. If you're going to allow smokers to loiter just outside the front door, you should have receptacles there for the cigarette butts. Also, it wouldn't hurt to hire qualified, licensed professionals to do the repairs and maintenance.

"Rebuttal to some of the lower star reviews"
evangew, 24 Septembre 2024

First I want to state this EMPHATICALLY, NO, ABSOLUTELY, NO, homeless people around the pool. Nice area, sounds like a waterfall in front as well as swimming pool. Close to stores nearby. Elevator next to front desk so they can keep an eye on everything, nice lemon cucumber water there. Nicely decorated for Halloween. Try to get room not facing streets. Good breakfast, even almond milk but also lots of hot dishes. Seems like there are some kind of living room (on each floor??) so you can receive guests without inviting them to your room. It's centrally located with connections for BART and Amtrak so if you are visiting Napa or places like it, you can save money staying here and using car or public transportation elsewhere.

"Quiet and comfy hotel"
Kim C, 19 Août 2024

Quiet, great location, safe...awesome breakfast! This hotel is in a very convenient location in the east bay right off of the highway 4 freeway. There is a burger King across the street, a nob hill Market, small strip mall and the contra Costa cinemas too...all in a safe, very quiet location. They have a free breakfast with fantastic hot food selection!

"NO TOWELS, RUDE STAFF, HOMELESS AT POOL"
Nicole G, 09 Juillet 2024

It took 6 requests over a period of 3 days to get enough towels for my family to shower. I finally had to threaten to dispute charges for the room just to get towels after asking nicely multiple times. Had to walk to front desk every time because the phones didn't work. Room was not very cool during a heatwave due to gaps in door and no AC in hall plus AC in room not working well. Low water pressure. There were homeless sleeping by the pool and drugged out homeless going into pool area, the pool and hot tub were nice other than that and cigarette butts on the ground even though it's a no smoking hotel. Breakfast better than most places for free, waffles always good, bad coffee. Evening staff was nice.

"Stay at John Muir Inn - Martinez CA"
cddobbs59, 10 Juin 2024

Good location and staff friendly. If you own any EV that is not Telsa there are no charging stations. Tesla had 12 right across the street which we thought was great, except we don't own a Tesla. Nice breakfast offered and staff friendly. Hotel does need updating and parking is crowded and not really a good place to park when registering.

"Love location but needs serious make over with upgrades."
santiagodennis2020, 08 Juin 2024

Excellent breakfast. Needs facility upgrades, to many failures to mention. Do not wish to return visit.

"Good location when in Martinez, but overpriced and dingy"
TravellerPLL, 25 Mai 2024

When in Martinez, this is a good choice regarding location. The property, however, is disappointing. If you are able to overlook the musty smell of the room when you enter, the basic of basic breakfasts, and an outdated hotel feel, well that's a place to stay - for a night or so.

"Best Western a great family value"
JeanB3333, 14 Mai 2024

I sometimes travel with family and I can, if need be, get rooms with 1 bed or 2 for reasonable rates. I also like having the included breakfasts. I appreciate even the water they hand out at check in. As a Best Western rewards member I frequently get reward points and am now going for Diamond Select that translates into free nights, We also usually use the internet and appreciate the free wifi and even the numerous plugs in the rooms. Overall this is one of the better values and it is safe with just the right amenities.

Love the area. Lots of dining options. Safe for walking. Great location for my needs. Eating area I always very clean. If employees were a little friendly I would live there

"One of the worst experiences of this experienced traveler. "
Dogsx6, 30 Décembre 2023

This hotel needs to have its license as a Best Western pulled. We checked in with a woman that asked for license and CC, then didn't look up at me until my wife came back from the restroom. The room we checked into smelled and the ac wouldn't not stay on. The sheet down the side of the bed was stained. I went down and asked to be moved. She gave me a slip of paper and asked me to write everything down. I did that. Then she asked if it could be re rented. I said “well except for those things I wrote down” the pictures below are from the 2nd room. Towel was just gross (found that the next morning) the sheet, we had to ask for new sheets and I told them I'd change them myself as we were on the way to a family dinner. It was gross that they didn't notice the stain up by the pillow area when they made the bed. The woman at the front desk blamed not being able to communicate with the Asian housekeeping crew. (Can we say, racist?). It was a horrible experience. We had stayed here before but it has gone downhill. They should clearly not be a branded hotel anymore. I have to admit I notice things. I used to be a front desk manager for a major hotel, but this was just gross. I also had my first job cleaning rooms and the sheet/towel thing should have been noticed by at least 3 different lines of people before those made it into the room. *the lady doing the breakfast area was very nice.

"DISAPPOINTED EXPERIENCE "
Mark J, 27 Novembre 2023

My room was extremely cold, I advised the front desk 3 times, they said maintenance would come, but they haven't been here in over 12 hours now. I have issues with cold temperatures and the staff did not seem to care. I asked to be moved to another room and they declined and told me to wait for maintenance. Also they took my towels out ( including the unused ones) early in the morning and now it's afternoon and they have not replaced them, stating they are being washed. Normally hotels have extra towels available. I will advise my company to never book me at this hotel ever again.

"Love this place"
nikkigonikki90, 11 Novembre 2023

Love this hotel! Clean, friendly, they always call to make sure your room is tomorrow standards about 20mins after checking in. If you book online they have the your paperwork, key, and everything ready to go so check in process only takes about 5mins!

"My stay"
jefflamarr, 31 Octobre 2023

We were greeted by a nice friendly smile. She was very nice and professional. I made a request for a first floor room because I'm disabled. I got the first floor room but ended up getting a room that was completely down at the other end of the hallway. Our room is clean but seem very dark. The lighting could be better. As far as the breakfast goes very disappointing. I wasn't offered bonus points as being a diamond member, I was just handed two bottles of water.

"Pet Parents"
sftballer999, 29 Octobre 2023

The staff was friendly and helpful during our entire stay. While an older hotel it was clean and well kept. Breakfast was fresh and good options for a free included option. Being pet friendly the rooms were still clean and well kept. The parking lots were well lit and safe

"Horrible Dirty Smelly Hotel"
500charles, 25 Septembre 2023

The hotel was not very clean, the staff was rude, the bathrooms were not good. I would never stay at this BW ever again!! I would never stay at this BW ever again!! The only semi-positive thing was the internet was okay.

"Clean Hotel, Poor Service"
rabrannon, 22 Septembre 2023

The positive about the hotel was that it was clean and well maintained. The negatives were the breakfast, the lack of customer service and the function of the sink in the bathroom. I have stayed at this hotel in the past and had a great experience, but it appears that customer service is no longer a priority.

"Traveling with Pets"
jrbvb, 18 Septembre 2023

The rooms were cleaned but at check-in they did not have the fact I was traveling with pets which was an issue. I was told no animals on the second floor but because they did not have I was traveling with pets she put us on the second floor. Come to find out, there were other travels with pets on the second floor so the lady just lied. I was charged without my knowledge the pet fee even though they were told they were service animals. The night desk person was somewhat rude and made assumptions and providing her own opinion that were uncalled for and inaccurate.

"Wonderful for family"
mcallisterjennie, 19 Juillet 2023

The full hot breakfast each morning was wonderful! The room was clean staff was great although hard to hear behind the glass. Location was close to six flags and shopping.the beds are a bit lumpy but over all experience and price made up for it.

"Room smelled of stale cigarette smoke."
moonchildmanis, 22 Mai 2023

This hotel was definitely very old with small rooms. ‘Hot' breakfast choices were cold and some were very overcooked/dry (potatoes for example). But the main reason we wouldn't choose to stay here again is because the rooms smell of stale cigarette smoke. Not just ours but those of our other relatives who also stayed for a wedding we were attending. Our daughter who stopped by to change had to quickly leave because she was so sensitive to the odor.

"Gross rooms & Bed Bugs"
johnmel805, 14 Mai 2023

The room was filthy with ripped up chair, gross carpet, non-smoking but smelled of smoke, no bathtub plug (bathroom was decent) dirty, stained sheets w/no bedcovers. Very uncomfortable mattresses and the very worst BED BUGS!! I am washing all of my clothes and luggage prior to bringing it inside my house. We have already found 2 beetle bugs in our luggage since we left. There were people smoking and drinking in the parking lot all night and cigarette butts all over the ground. The breakfast was good and the staff was friendly.

"Rooms falling apart - poor customer service"
formynana, 18 Mars 2023

During the night 11 PM the fire alarm went off in our room. 3rd floor, seemed the ceiling started leaking over our bed ! We had to change rooms, getting out of ours quickly because of the large amount of water coming down. Staff not very helpful, did change our rooms to one that was bad, heater full of dust, 2 of 3 lights in bathroom didn't work. Vending machines on most floors empty or out of order. Our 8 year daughter refuses to stay at best westerns again due to the trauma from the loud noise, changing rooms late at night . She was a wake most of the night, scared to sleep ! Reply from hotel was, sorry hopefully with new staff you will give us a try again ..NOT !!!

"Nice solid property"
Sandy S, 08 Mars 2023

Great location for our needs. Safe area and decent property. Excellent customer service. Could be better coffee in the lobby and at breakfast. Breakfast was varied and plentiful. Staff was helpful. Would stay again.

"Thieves"
alvarac24, 21 Janvier 2023

Long story short... my room was entered when I had the privacy sign on my door and $100 was stolen from me... mind you my room was not even cleaned. Manager gave me attitude instead of looking into the situation.

"Always dependable"
jmancinone, 14 Janvier 2023

We have stayed at the John Muir Inn many times over the last couple years. It's the only mid-priced pet friendly hotel in the area that's up to our standards of cleanliness. Continental breakfast is very good, there's a variety of food, hours are good, and the dining room is always clean. The room is always clean as well. Parking is plentiful, loading & unloading is easy. Highly recommend.

"Family friendly and great location"
esavage01, 26 Décembre 2022

Very friendly staff, large room with mini fridge and microwave. Very comfortable beds. Location of the hotel has nearby shops and restaurants I'm walking distance. Starbucks right next door for my morning coffee was a plus.

"Chpmnk2000"
shore2004, 27 Octobre 2022

It was Avery nice stay with a decent shopping center across the street with a few different eating options the place was clean food was good the check in person was nice and knowledgeable about the area

"Ok for one night"
224shelli, 24 Octobre 2022

Slow check in with one clerk and several people waiting to check in. Breakfast low on food and service, rooms have a musty smell. Dated elevator, clunky feeling. Not enough disabled parking. Hard beds.

"NOT HANDICAP FRIENDLY AT ALL"
speedigonzo1, 25 Septembre 2022

things were broken in the room, it was a non smoking room and it smelled like smoke, they did not honor a travel card from BW corporate office. Elevator was broken 2 nights in a row, my room was on the 2nd floor, and staff did not help me I am handicap. I almost fell twice going up and down the stairs. they still did not help me.

"Worst. Hotel. Ever..."
E1508EZstevem, 11 Septembre 2022

Absolutely, without question, the WORST hotel I have ever been to in my 72 years -- notice I didn't say worst hotel I have ever "STAYED" in. We requested a 1st floor room because of mobility issues (bad knees) -- we were given a room on the 2nd floor despite the fact that the elevator was out of service -- apparently, the 1st floor is saved for people with disabilities (which is fine), and people with pets (I guess animals can't climb stairs). When we got to our room, it smelled like the bottom of an ashtray. Went to the front desk and were told they would try to find us another room but couldn't guarantee that it, too, wouldn't smell like an ashtray. Called Best Western Customer Service but they were closed for the night (customer service is closed?). Called Best Western HQ and they transferred me to customer service (which is CLOSED!!!). Called HQ again to speak to supervisor -- was told there was nothing they could do and I would have to talk to customer service (BUT THEY'RE CLOSED!!!). We decided to find another hotel and went to front desk to check out -- they charged us for 1 night stay even though we were there for only 30 minutes. Called HQ a third time -- was told there was nothing they could do and would have to talk to customer service the next day to request a refund. Ironically, this person asked if there was anything else they could help me with -- had to laugh and told her she would have to help me with something before she can help me with anything else. Additionally, (a) place was messy (face cloth on stairway landing and towel used to hold open door to 2nd floor hallway); (b) someone smoking not far from hotel entrance near NO SMOKING sign; and (c) checked-in residents occupying the only two "CHECK IN ONLY" parking spots. Avoid this place at all costs -- 1 star was generous because I was not allowed to leave 0 stars.

"The beds suck"
jimmybats, 08 Août 2022

The room was old and not very well taken care of. It looks like they may have painted not to long before my stay because there was paint spatter on my furniture and drapes. There was a big bubble and hole where it looked like water had leaked through the ceiling and instead of professionally fixing it they left it and painted over it. The AC door that covers the controls was broken and just laying on top of the AC unit. The bathroom was semi clean but there was hair in the bathtub. The TV remote had seen better days and didn't work properly. I will not stay at the property again.

"If you go there to relax housekeeping will ruin that."
11Ejt1981, 04 Juillet 2022

Partner and I booked a room to get a break from the kids. The hotel room was alright. We could look past the marks on the bathroom wall and broken curtain rod. But housekeeping tried to enter our room at 7:45 am we yelled at them to get out and we were in there. They shut the door. Then came back at 8:45 to do the exact same thing. Front desk only said I'm sorry.

"Just Don't"
CWADE88, 24 Mai 2022

We were not sure about this stay from past reviews but thought we'd give it a try. BELIEVE THE REVIEWS. This is not a good place. Random group behind the hotel having a barbeque in the lot. Dead cockroaches along the walkway. Hall carpets were dirty. Door to the room had a one inch gap at the bottom allowing noise and light all night. All of the towels were so threadbare, you could see through them.

"Fair Warning"
t842021, 16 Mai 2022

I booked a room online for Fri and Sat. Came to check in, and no reservation found. They finally found my account and was able to reserve the room for the 2 nights. However, she failed to tell me that my online reservation was actually for the following Fri and Sat and... I CANNOT CANCEL THE RESERVATION even though I literally stayed the weekend before and didn't cancel it. Now I have to pay for 2 nights when I'm not even using it. Bull crap, I will NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN.

"Reliable & Clean"
jmancinone, 04 Avril 2022

So far we've stayed here twice and plan to for all future visits in the area (2-3 times/year). It's tough to find a quality pet friendly hotel in the Antioch area, this place is by far the best even though it's about 20 minutes away. The rooms are spacious and clean, there's coffee in the lobby during most hours, there's a small coin-op laundry available 24hrs, breakfast is decent, and check in & check out were super easy. We had one small maintenance issue that was handled immediately. Regarding our pets, the $30/day fee was more than worth it to keep our dog & cat with us (and cheaper than boarding or using a pet sitter). There's even a nice little dog walking area way back at the end of the parking lot. It's right off of the highway and within walking distance of a shopping plaza and movie theater. It's definitely worth being a Rewards member, the room discounts are good, you can easily use points to pay for your stay, and they offer lots of gift cards throughout the year if you travel a lot.

"We LOVE Best Western over all others"
Donice S, 06 Mars 2022

The BEDS are more comfortable than anywhere else. Having the Breakfast is so welcome. The Price is usually just perfect Esp for Seniors and Military. And It is great to be greeted so warmly by those we have seen at the desk before.

"In need of an update"
330maxh, 28 Février 2022

This is an older property which has had some renovations, but not a complete makeover. As a result, it just feels "tired". The room I was in on the Second Floor was plagued by noisy water pipes inside the walls feeding adjacent rooms (next door or above or below -- I was never quite sure). Conveniently located off Hwy 4, with some shopping and fast food nearby. I forgot to take a picture of the "closet" in my room (213), but it was a space barely wide enough to accommodate hanging clothes hung parallel to the rear wall on a hanging device that can only hold five or six hangers. No door . . . just a curtain to cover the opening. I don't know how many other rooms are so poorly laid out as mine that this is the only space for hanging items, but it's a cruel joke. I was here solo on this three-day business trip, but if my wife were with me, she would have been extremely upset. Breakfast here was passable. Eggs were overdone, precooked sausage patties were underdone (that is, not browned), and "hot" food items were well below the minimum 140 F food safety holding temperature standard. The juice machine was not properly adjusted, and the concentrate to water mixing ratio was in favor of the hotel -- orange juice was diluted close to 50% more than it should have been. If all you need is a bed for the night, it's an OK place. But I'm not certain I would stay here again without knowing they have completely renovated the rooms -- not just the bathrooms. Barely a 2-star property.

"Great stay"
jasminewest1113, 05 Décembre 2021

My stay was great. I appreciate the grab and go back in the morning. Also, they have coffee 24 hours a day. And a strip mall across the street with a Starbucks as well. Great location staff is awesome

"Great stay"
marramont111, 30 Novembre 2021

Great please. Staff is great at there customer service skills. We like that all staff is helpful and that there are on top of there services. It is always a pleasant stay. They also have a shopping center across the street that makes your stay wonderful.

"Needs a lot of Improvements"
bvchanmdx, 12 Septembre 2021

The Good: The property was just across the convenient stores and restaurants. The Bad: Dirty. Towels were not cleaned well. Stains can be seen. Pretty disgusting. When I asked the front desk twice, they could not accommodate me for new cleaned towels, twice. And they only have 2 towels to provide. Dirty Carpet. Please get rid of the old carpet. You will save more in a long run. Staff is ok, but they can be friendlier. The swimming pool had leaves and branches. Were we supposed to clean it before we us it? Best Western usually meet my expectations and my money's worth. Not this one. We were supposed to stay for 3 nights, we cut it short to 1. We thought it was not worth to spend one more night. Sorry

"Need repairs."
Virginia M, 05 Septembre 2021

Location is great. Hallway has torn carpet. Breakfast has a good selection except it is not cooked properly. The center was cold and soggy. Everything is very clean and in good condition. Other than cooked everything was great.

"Horrible"
sonnfel168, 23 Août 2021

Too many problems encountered during my stay. Shower clogged, wifi not working, house phone out of order, noisy neighbors in the middle of the night. Room doesn't seem to be well maintained. Needs improvement.

"Very clean"
whenisnow, 22 Août 2021

My family and I always stay at this Best Western, the main reason is because they accept dogs. Our stay is always wonderful. The hotel is older, but the staff does a great job keeping it clean. The breakfast buffet is back and it's wonderful. Staff members are friendly and helpful.

"Best Western John Muir"
frankwisephotography, 10 Août 2021

I travel with dogs for sports and competitions. The Hotel is pet friendly, and as an added bonus has a real breakfast available every morning. The fridge and microwave in the room was a great bonus, as was the extra sink for dog food prep

"Disappointed"
cagleds, 11 Juillet 2021

We rented two rooms for 5 guests. Each room was given 2 towels and 1 washcloth, which were used the first night. Housekeeping took the used linens while we were at breakfast the next morning, but did not provide any new ones. We requested additional linens to shower after swimming and were refused any additional towels. It was crazy, we spoke to multiple staff including the manager! Another couple overheard and said the same thing happened to them, if they are not going to replace them, or provide an appropriate number of towels, they should not remove them before check out!

"Just perfect stay!"
chamorroeverth, 27 Juin 2021

Everything you need is right outside the hotel, couldn't ask for anything more... Employees are always friendly, making sure our stay is a pleasant one. We enjoyed our clean fresh scent room with plenty of room to play and release the tension of a busy week.

"Go elsewhere"
pandorab744, 19 Juin 2021

Not a very up kept best western. The outside looks great the inside is not. The elevator doesn't work right half the time and the rooms are small. The pool area in pictures looks big. It is just a little tiny pool area. We booked two nights only stayed one and when to a different Best Western.

"Worst experience at a best western"
jay4one, 13 Juin 2021

The outside exterior is exceptional Made you feel like you were checking in to an Exotic hotel, but the moment you enter in the customer service at the front desk is sub par the rooms are raggedy and look as if they're falling apart The only thing that I had to look forward to was receiving breakfast The lady was so accommodating

"Nice Hotel and Helpful Staff"
Lisa M, 08 Mars 2021

I would have given our stay an excellent rating if it wasn't for us for having to ask for more than one set of towels and toiletries. The staff was very nice and helpful. I realize that do to COVID they cannot serve their normal breakfasts. However, they could approve the prepacked options that they give you.

"Good Deal for the price and nice area"
Gifted-Healer, 03 Mars 2021

Really nice hotel. Not the newest in terms of features or appearance, but a well maintained and nice place to stay. Parking is spacious and safe. Shopping area just across the road and easy access to local roads which lead to interstate.

"This place sucks"
emmanuelhinojosa, 15 Février 2021

It's just an overpriced motel 6. I'm starting to see more of these pop up. Since I was staying there a month for my job, I got to stay in 4 different rooms. Every room had an issue especially with the shower heads spraying water all over the bathroom. One had a bed where it had a big slump.

"Small and Dirty"
lovelygiftbaskets1, 11 Février 2021

Not what I expected. Too small and dirty and I was not comfortable at all so I left and went to Best Western in Benicia which was much better. Rooms were bigger microwaves were clean inside and beds were nice and clean. I would not recommend the John Muir Inn Best Western but the one in Benicia I definitely would.

"double booked room"
3121Dan, 10 Février 2021

my Recent stay at the best Western in Martinez California was horrible I was a pain customer I was given a rule that apparently was double booked I did not know I use my room key to enter there were two white adult already in the room, I am a black man they were extremely upset they assumed maybe I was breaking in their room I'll let them know I had a room key and I was told to come to his room I quickly apologized and went to the front desk, i told the lady at the what happened and she just said sorry and give me a different room , i was not satisfied with her response because to her this was not a big deal but to me this was definitely a big deal this could have turned Deadly for me

"Terrible service, wonderful location"
CalliGurl, 09 Janvier 2021

We recently stayed several days at the Best Western John Muir Inn in Martinez, CA. and while the location was great and the hotel itself fine, we cannot say the same for many of the employees—especially the front desk staff. With only one or two exceptions (Grisella is wonderful!) every interaction we had with the front desk was a major disappointment. Whether we were checking in, asking questions during our stay or checking out, the front desk staff did not give us good customer service. Instead, we were given cold stares, blank stares, labored sighs (or worse yet, pointed silence), dismissive attitudes, snotty attitudes and just plain rudeness. Ashley is particularly bad; there's no way she should be working with the public. And here's the real kicker: One of the worst offenders amongst the front desk staff is the front desk manager, Faviola!! Not only does she “manage” the other rude employees but she also handles the reviews that the hotel receives from guests. Faviola's standard copy & paste reply to every negative review is a joke. The fox is definitely in charge of the hen house at this establishment!! All the employees need to lose their bad attitudes and learn something about real customer service, or seek other employment ASAP.

I wish I was allowed to leave negative stars, cause this one would be -100 AT BEST. I cannot begin to say enough about what a trash establishment this is. I booked last minute from Expedia and their description of this property couldn't have been further off. The entire property is run down, and it shows everywhere...The mattress on the bed was sloped in the middle, it came to a point so you could either sleep downhill on either side, or try to lay right on top of it and have the springs poking you in the back. Needless to say, EXTREMELY comfortable. The absolutely terrible condition of the property aside, my biggest complaint is with the staff and the other guests (most of whom looked like they were coming off/getting started on a meth bender). There were MULTIPLE members of the housekeeping staff walking around WITHOUT MASKS. Are you effing kidding me with that nonsense?!! Unbelievable, truly, I'm lost for words. There were also numerous guests walking around the lobby and on guest floors without masks. Despite numerous signs around the property insisting that masks were required for entry, not a single member of the staff approached even a single guest to have them put on a mask. It was an out and out disgrace, there really isn't anything else to say. I checked out as quickly as possible as there was ZERO reason to stay here a minute longer. Contracting COVID isn't exactly on my to do list, so I left immediately. I booked a non refundable room and they can keep the money even though I didn't stay for the reservation. Avoid this place AT ALL COSTS, unless you're looking to catch a COVID case, or you're the type looking to rent a room by the hour.

"Dingy gross rude!"
dontstayhere303, 25 Octobre 2020

This place is rose. All the furniture is beaten down and disgusting. the housekeeping is horrible. There's dirt in the hallways and in the room and in my situation I had it left over for a soap from the last occupant. Ashley the receptionist at check in and at checkout was rude and very unhelpful. if you have any choice other than this place I would recommend taking it. I stay in a lot of Best Westerns up to 90 to 100 a year and this place is by far one of the worst disgusting dirty unhappy places I have ever stayed

"go ANYWHERE else"
rlsajl, 08 Septembre 2020

This is a local tweeker hotel definitely not a place to stay if visiting the area. No parking due to the broke down cars in the parking lot, druggies wandering the lot, toilet didnt work i was told by the front desk to use the bathroom in the tub, cabinets broken, shower head shot water across the wall and all over the bathroom floor, 2 queen bed room offered 1 towel (they said they didnt have any more) sheets were stained, the room had a can opener covered with food, as i wiped down the counters they felt gritty as if they've never been wiped before, refrigerator didn't work, remote didn't work. no masks being worn by staff or visitors. This place should be closed down. I wouldn't have stayed but it was a 10pm check in with my baby and we were exhausted.

"COVID? What COVID?"
Steven C, 01 Septembre 2020

Very disappointing experience, for many reasons. Checking into the hotel, there were people going in and out of the lobby without facemasks, despite a county and state ordinance requiring the wearing of face masks in all public places. While I was at the front desk, a couple came in with no masks and simply sat in the lobby a few feet away from me. Immediately outside the front door people were congregated smoking, obviously without masks, despite a county/state ordinance that there is no smoking within 20 feet of an entranceway. On at least 3 mornings of my stay, even the desk clerk was not wearing a face mask. When I turned down the covers on my bed, there was a stain on the bottom sheet, the contour and location of which made it's source pretty clear. I am not saying the sheet was actually soiled- the stain was faded, so probably just didn't come out in the wash. However, a hotel of any quality at all would have discarded such a sheet, not put it back on the bed. At least the mattress was comfortable. The window was filthy. It is true the air was smoky due to recent nearby fires, but I do not think that accounted for the grime on the window. The elevator groaned and lurched and bumped the first time I used it, so I took the stairs thereafter, even though my room was on the 3rd floor. What if I was not physically capable of doing that? And, my most trivial complaint. I tried to listen to a music station on the Direct TV while having a glass of wine. Even though the music stations on cable and satellite TV always come included with basic service, they somehow had it set up that you had to pay to listen to music. John Muir Inn, when it was independently operated, was considered a fine hotel in Martinez. I have referred people there on several occasions. Never again! Best Western has turned it into a dump. Incidentally, I am a Martinez resident. I had no choice but to travel during the COVID pandemic due to a family emergency, and be in airports and on airplanes and other transit, and therefore "quarantined" myself for 7 days upon returning home. Really sad to see the poor quality place a once nice local hotel has become.

"Never again"
Bearzmom, 20 Août 2020

We stayed overnight due to a fire evacuation in a nearby city. The good part was the mattress was comfortable. But my goodness, the bad parts! I am in the habit of removing the bed coverings immediately as I know they aren't laundered regularly. When I removed it, I was horrified at the filthy blanket under it. Black spots all over it. I tried to call the front desk and the phone was not working. (My husband later rewired the thing and got it to work.) So I called from my cell phone. They had someone from housekeeping come up to look at it. I asked for clean blankets, and she said they had none, but offered to wash them for me. A hotel with no clean blankets tells me they are seldom changed (and this is a hotel that accepts pets.) So she returned them after laundering, and I took the warm blankets and put them on the bed. You can see the before and after photos. The blanket was actually a lighter color! Who knows how long they had been on that bed without laundering. I do not blame the maid, but rather the management who does not provide them with clean blankets, and tells them to simply remake the bed after changing the sheets. In addition, the storage dresser was old and shabby (see photo), there was no non-slip mat or grab bar in the tub/shower, which was very slippery, and there were no carts available upon checking in or checking out, so we had to make several trips to the car (we had our cat with us due to the evacuation.) There was no breakfast of any kind offered due to the covid virus (I understand that but we weren't told ahead of time.) The hotel was very noisy, and people stood around the entrance smoking. We won't be back.

"Seedy people everywhere"
R5889QTsteve, 10 Juillet 2020

Avoid this hotel which used to be outstanding. It seemed like the hotel had taken in many homeless people and their dogs. Parking lot had a large number of empty whiskey bottles and used fast food bags. I saw one car with all four tires flat that was extremely dirty and had probably been parked for months. In one week the police had to come to the hotel. The only two goods things about the hotel was the cleanliness of my room and the front desk service.

"Shady people"
ludamiko, 29 Juin 2020

Too many people hang out in front of hotel smoking. Need an area away from the front entrance. Felt uncomfortable getting out my car with my 5 year old grandson. People outside seem as though they were on drugs.

"Scary and smelly"
amarque2, 12 Juin 2020

This place was terrible. Have stayed for over 10 years. This time lobby and room smelled so bad. We even tried spraying room with air freshener and disinfectant, nothing worked. People in parking lot and lobby all night. In cars doing different drugs, drinking and asking for money. We were told the police are dropping off people there to stay. We didn't even want to leave our cars in the parking lot.

"Dirty and bugs"
Gatordank, 04 Avril 2020

The location is nice but other then that it's not worth the money you have to pay. Trash under thd beds sheets were dirty top blanket too. Had one towel and the lady at the front desk look at me like I was crazy. We was planning on staying longer but I doubt it now. Number one way to expensive for what we got no breakfast we a bag launch cereal no milk. I was fighting off roaches most of the time . If they got rid of the bugs and got better cleaners I would totally recommend this place so much potential. I feel like I got ripped off for how much I paid should have been so much better..

"Family visit to Martinez Ca"
Bill939, 17 Mars 2020

The positives of this hotel are : convenient location, good mattress, very good coffee and breakfast, quiet heating unit, able to open window a little, offered hbo on tv. We were 3 in room with two queen beds, so we were not able to store our clothes--a larger room would be better. During busy times the shower water was only luke warm. One needs to be careful going using the tub as there was no grab bar. Overall we would stay there again--Excellent value.

"Great amenities and service"
RedstoneRick, 22 Février 2020

I usually don't read five star reviews but I hope you read this one. It's right off the freeway next to the shopping center that has kinder's BBQ. The parking lot is a little small. Some of the outside vents look a little old but otherwise it's very rustic look. Lobby was a little slow but I got to the checkout quickly. Hallways look a little like they need an update. the vending machines are really priced well. Can soda was a dollar. The room was fabulous well decorated DirecTV internet soft beds bathroom accoutrements. the hotel itself isn't very big the rooms perhaps a little on the small side but well-stocked with microwave refrigerator iron. Locks on the door chain and deadbolt and seemed a little dated but very safe area. Bathroom had tile sink and hot water in the shower worked great a it hadrubber bath mat. Check out with super easy got a receipt for my stay.

"Best Of The Best Western"
951fernando, 05 Février 2020

I stayed in this hotel and I travel for a living. I have never felt more obligated to leave a review of the overall experience. Prerna along with Faviola made my experience one of a kind. I have stayed in some of the best hotels in the US and customer service and attention to detail is what separates them from the rest to be able to get the same level of genuine care made me want come back time and time again. both of these ladies are genuinely nice and extremely people-friendly. I truly hope upper management recognizes the warmth they bring to this hotel.

"Awsome reward"
Francisco A, 16 Janvier 2020

Easy to accumulate points, motels are in a lot more places than other, microwave and fridge always available, unlike some other u have to pay extra to get it for one night. A bit of work on the app and website it tends to lag a lot.

"Great price, but that is all"
haachoo, 16 Janvier 2020

Check in was terrible, I took over 15 minutes before anyone came to check us in. The bathrooms were not properly maintained. The grout was gross and dirty looking. The mattress was also very firm, too firm for my liking.

"If you like noise and police activity you'll love this hotel"
laskdnl, 14 Janvier 2020

Homeless people sleeping in the second floor lobby, dogs barking throughout the night and police activity three out of three nights I stayed here are just some of the highlights of my stay. Needless to say I would not stay here again.

"Zero customer servisce skills"
sherreyf, 28 Décembre 2019

Ashley on the front desk, never talked. Transactions were handled by shoving paper at us. Worst customer service I have ever seen. She was also very rude on the phone. Noisy on second floor because of extremely creaky floors above. Finally, Ms. friendly moved us to a different room that had no closet rod. Mind you we were staying for 9 days.

"DISGUSTING! IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR HEALTH GO ELSEWHERE"
clarissas847, 16 Décembre 2019

This hotel is nasty. First of all, its a no smoking hotel. Our room constantly for 12 days smelled like cigarette smoke. I told the front office 3 times and they said " well some people still smoke here." I am pregnant and am trapped in a room at midnight smelling like smoke! The door didn't close and the housekeeper never pulled it shut. We wrote notes daily to remind them! I will never support a best western hotel again!

"Convenient hotel with wonderful staff!"
RJB-15, 12 Décembre 2019

We were visiting family in the area and needed a hotel that accepted children and pets. We were welcomed at the front desk like we were at a 5 star hotel! The young woman at the desk is a mom so quietly asked if she could give our son a little treat? She was at the desk a lot during our visit over Thanksgiving week. She always engaged in conversation, checking in with us to make sure everything was ok. Our room was clean and well appointed. The breakfast was included in our stay and had a good variety of choices including waffles, hard boiled eggs and the usual cereals, oatmeal, hot eggs and sausages. Across the street, there is a grocery store, Starbucks and a few restaurant choices. If there is time to explore, there is a wonderful park near the water. This isn't a fancy hotel, but is one of the best hotels at this level! I've stayed at 4/5 star hotels whose staff could take lessons from the staff here!

"Noisy"
jzwillows, 11 Décembre 2019

Very thin walls and ceiling. A person walking above will be heard because of poor sound damping. Closing the door of the adjacent room will be heard. Stay on the second floor to prevent walking from above from ruining your sleep.

"Very nice experience."
Ronny H, 02 Décembre 2019

This property is right off of Hwy 4 and I had an ADA room. A rubber floor mat for the shower was provided on request. The bed was fine and the room was pretty large. Though I don't use a wheelchair, the bathroom had a roll-in shower and was very maneuverable for someone that does. Only issue for me is that the room is way at the end of the hotel. I have a bad back and knees and so it is a long walk.Lot's of places to eat and a movie theater across the street.

"Horrible Service"
Jamelia H, 01 Décembre 2019

The staff when I checked in were not pleasant at all. They didn't want to do their job, and acted as if they where doing me a favor when they checked me in. When I asked for a room not near the freeway, they made it seam as if that was something so hard to do. They were not booked up at all.

"Ok hotel poor front desk staff"
Dylan S, 17 Novembre 2019

Hotel was average. Clean place to lay you head but the front desk need some serious training on hospitality! If you can get past a rude front desk then go for it but I'll be going somewhere else next time I'm in the area.

"Clean & comfy"
Loflady, 03 Novembre 2019

Excellent if you're traveling on a budget! Clean, efficient, comfortable & conveniently located. Excellent when you're traveling on a budget. Hotel is clean and efficient staff, comfortable and conveniently located.

"Best Kept Secret"
C H, 28 Octobre 2019

Excellent value. Convenient location. Access to restaurants, stores, and entertainment. A short drive to the local town where local musicians where performing in restaurants serving a variety of cuisines.

"Very Good"
eb8nos, 28 Octobre 2019

Make sure you call toll-free to make your reservation. That way you will make sure you get what you ask for and staff will take note of your requests. At breakfast staff was friendly and kind, breakfast was delicious, hot and varied (waffles, scrambled eggs with sausage patties, french toast, cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, coffee and a selection of orange , cranberry, passion fruit juices). If we need to come back we will definitely return to this hotel. It was located very conveniently for us, easy access to the freeway. there was a Cinema close by, a CVS, Burger King, Italian and Mexican food Restaurants. It is not a big Hotel but it was nice and clean.

"Disappointing experience"
Bounty8111, 22 Octobre 2019

Had to stay in Martinez for business, and had the choice of staying in a more upscale hotel just down the freeway or at this Best Western location literally down the street from where I needed to work. Unfortunately, I didn't make the right choice. The hotel looks respectable from the exterior, although driving around the property, the first challenge can become finding parking that's not in the far back corner surrounded by work trucks and tractor trailers. Both when I went to check in, as well as check out, nobody was at the front desk. I ended up waiting a few minutes until I finally had to call the hotel to make the phone ring and bring the desk clerk out of the back and to the front to help me. The interior hallways of this hotel are probably the scariest looking thing about the place. Just feels and looks dirty and old. Even the smell of the hallway was just off. Definitely in desperate need of new paint, carpet and light fixtures. The room was very standard, and I did appreciate the bed was clean and decently comfortable, as well as the lamps with the multiple power outlets. Unfortunately, there were other parts of the room that weren't so great. The carpet was literally rolling upwards in the middle of the room causing a trip hazard. The shower curtain had some pretty gross stains on it that appeared to be dried blood. The bathtub drain stopper wouldn't work properly. And the room did not have a do-not-disturb sign in it, which may have helped prevent the two random construction worker guests who banged on my door at different times not realizing they had the wrong room. Location is at least decent if you need to be in Martinez, especially being right in front of a major shopping center with several food options. But because of the quality of the hotel itself, I can't recommend.

"good location and comfortable nights stay"
Flyer07979691631, 09 Octobre 2019

This hotel is clean and the hotel staff is helpful. We rented two rooms and a meeting room for the day. The staff was accommodating in letting us preview the room the night before in order to make plans for how we were to setup. Breakfast was good and the area was constantly kept clean as guest came and went. There is also a shopping area across the street with multiple restaurants and grocery stores within a very short walk.

"Best Place in Martinez for the Price"
ashtonwaggoner, 27 Septembre 2019

This is a great place to stay in Martinez the staff is SUPER friendly and great atmosphere. there are plenty of places to eat within walking distance. a great italian restraunt and there is a sports bar close with great food and cold beer to watch all of the games!

"Well managed and clean hotel"
adiugri, 17 Août 2019

On a business trip, the room , clenliness, and service exceeded my expectations. Karen in the breakfast room does an excellent job in greeting everyone with a pleasant Good Morning and making sure all the breakfast offerings are quickly replenished as needed.

"Best in Martinez"
karenembry, 12 Août 2019

I do think this is the best option in the Martinez area. It is very conveniently located across from a shopping center with Starbucks and grocery store and good restaurant options. The rooms are fine with good sized fridge and microwave. The TV options are not good for kids--no cartoon network or Disney, etc. The pool is cute, but not heated. Free afternoon cookies! And a decent breakfast with hot options. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel seems to house a lot of temp refinery workers, so has that vibe to it, but a good value for the money and good location. Most of the motels on Alhambra are sketchy, so I think this is the best bet in the area if you do not want to be in Concord, where you get more upscale choices.

"Great Location but only "average" for a Best Western"
dlindb542041, 12 Août 2019

Safe area and convenient location. Close to freeway and across from coffee shop, grocery store and resturants. The continental breakfast was average, with not much selection for "hot" breakfast. The bathroom is small with poor water pressure in the sink. We had two rooms, one of which the air conditioning was not working. They were working on sprinkler system around pool, thus we could not enjoy relaxing by the pool, without getting spray by water.

"Great handicapped parking!"
DebiVentura_CA, 08 Août 2019

I have stayed hear a couple of time but on a Friday night, this place was overpriced for the area. Everything was just average compared to other BW's. They do have GREAT handicapped parking! The parking was 5 steps to the front desk and 5 steps to the elevator which led right up to my room.

"You like sleep? Then don't pick this place!"
kissyjoy, 21 Juillet 2019

Wow...this place might be one of the worst places I've stayed. The front desk girl was very nice but that's where it stopped. Immediately upon walking into our room (207) it reeked if cigarette smoke. We were in a hurry to meet with some friends and accepted it. When we came back to go to sleep, we found extremely uncomfortable beds and pillows. The bedding had stains all over it. The blankets had somebody's hair on them that definitely was not ours. There was a napkin and straw on the floor from a prior guest. The table had something sticky all over it. As we went to sleep, we found out that the walls are paper thin. There were people in the hallways talking and laughing at 5-6 AM both days we were there. The people upstairs sounded like they were going to come through the ceiling at any moment. We are going home more tired than we left since it is impossible to sleep for more than a couple hours at a time because it's so loud. Not only that, housekeeping still knocks on your door even with the do not disturb sign on. After housekeeping had been in our room, we came back to find the napkin and straw still on the floor. Our towels were not replenished and they hung wet ones on the bathtub to reuse. There was not a single washcloth in the room. Our beds had been made but, of the 3 uncomfortable pillows, 2 made it onto the bed and 1 was still on the floor. We had to try to get towels from the front desk and they gave us a couple...but no washcloths. The bathroom is small and is not easy for 2 people to get ready in. There are no mirrors anywhere else in the room so you're stuck with a small mirror. The shower fixture was not attached at the top and would pull out of the wall when you tried to turn the shower on. This was a dirty, stressful place to stay that you cannot get a good night's sleep at. Avoid this place at all costs!

"Lost travel voucher, did not honor express check out so no receipt for business"
Explorer68001321416, 13 Juillet 2019

The front desk lost a $25 travel voucher I gave them when I checked in and then did not email me a receipt even though I requested express check out. I had to find out from my bank they didn't apply the $25 voucher and when I called the hotel they hung up on me repeatedly.

"good stay"
Sandy T, 08 Juillet 2019

Choose express checkout! convenient..Overall good experience and staff is friendly. Wish our room was not next to the ice machine due to the noise but it was minor and didn't disrupt our sleep. I would return if I visited Martinez again.

"Great place to stay"
Tome M, 02 Juillet 2019

I have stayed there before and returned because I liked the hotel and the breakfast. Not big on plain scrambled eggs but they have little omelets that are good. Time in the hot tub was also good. Beds were comfortable and so was the room.

"Front desk staff needs to be trained"
Explorer42131767372, 07 Juin 2019

The front desk person at checkin was so preoccupied with what was going on with the patio door (that the manager and two other staff members were handling) that she could not service me (the only person at the counter/lobby) I had an airport pick up and needed her to focus, which I stated. Apparently she didn't because at 8:30a the following morning I get a call from the front desk asking me what my name was and that there wasn't anyone assigned to that room. I responded by describing the person that checked me in, the time and that my credit card was ran and a printout was initialed and signed. She repeated “yeah, well I don't have anyone assigned to that room”. I told her I was sleeping and didn't know what to tell her. At check out, I asked if she was the person that called the room, she said “yes”. As I began to state that wasn't the best way to handle a front desk mix up, she began to talk over me restating she didn't have anyone assigned to that room. I attempted to restate that it is not the responsibility of the guest for lack of accuracy of the front desk and once again she spoke over me saying it is not on her either and the system did not have anyone assigned to that room. As she is checking me out and charging my credit card- so apparently I was checked in in order for her to check me out... Oh and did not mention that the tv and coffee maker were not plugged in (far behind the furniture) so after two calls to the front desk the maintenance person shows up and plugs them in AFTER he unplugged the lamp and something else because there aren't enough sockets for the tv, lamp and something else to be plugged in at the same time. I will NEVER stay at this Best Western and will think quadruple times before booking any Best Western

"2 stars"
johnnycool510, 02 Mai 2019

The paint was peeling off the wall, the shower had no pressure and my room was next to the ice machine. Guest kept coming for ice and the machine was loud when producing the ice late at night. There is only one elevator servicing the whole hotel.

"Busy place, they do their best, sometimes some things looked over"
girlanddog, 18 Avril 2019

Kudos to Gizelle and her infectious smile and the lady with the short brow hair who works in the breakfast room. I was given the very best room upon request--THANK YOU! But there were little things like people who questionably were fellow guests hanging out at the pool and also coming in from the outside for breakfast. Someone spilled milk in the elevator and when the maintenance guy finally came, he left the elevator out of order while he went off to chat with someone in the back office, I had to shout out to get their attention so the elevator would be put back in order. then, he merely wiped up the spill without cleanser and without washing the walls where it was spilled. This is a very busy hotel. It is also irritating when the staff checks you in and then interupts your check in because someone else is in line behind you and wants their key card fixed. I stayed her once before and my room number was also programmed on someone else's key and that person entered my room and went to the bathroom noticeably in my room before it was discovered it was not their room and the staff did nothing. The maintenance supervisor is sort of weird. It is the best hotel in Martinez and within walking from good restaurants and a grocery store, It is what it is. Food workers need to wash hands after taking out trash and cleaning surfaces before handling food.

"Uncomfortable Bed, Barely Slept"
norabakes, 14 Avril 2019

Biggest complaint: King size bed in Room 340 was so hard and uncomfortable that we barely slept at all, tossed and turned all night. I don't need a super soft bed but this bed is way too firm for a hotel. Terrible. Second complaint: Breakfast. The eggs have ham cooked in it. I've been to many hotels and scrambled eggs are a very standard item for breakfast. Why would you put ham in it? They already had sausage to choose from as well. There are alot of vegetarians and people who don't eat pork, so that is ridiculous. That just left me with bread and yogurt to eat. Unless you want cheerios or instant oatmeal. Also, their waffle maker is currently broken. Minor complaints: Noise. Take into consideration how many nights you are going to sleep here. If it's just one night, I would say you can probably tolerate the sound of cars buzzing by (hotel is right next to highway). This wouldn't have been a problem except I couldn't sleep on the hard bed, so I heard the cars all night. Also, the walls are fairly thin so I did hear people open and slam their hotel door next to us, once. Minor complaint: The bathroom door cannot stay open (slams shut). Some pillow cases were stained (ew) but there was at least 2 clean ones. Bathtub drains very slow, so you are showering with water up to your ankles. I don't mind this because the bathroom sink did not drain slow, that would have been a major complaint if it did. Positives: free parking. free wifi. easy check in. clean room, clean towels, aside from some pillow cases. No bugs. Free breakfast (if you eat a bunch of pork). Elevator wasn't slow.

"Pretty bad"
PaulaA2616, 07 Avril 2019

Our room was not cleaned for our second night of stay. Our towels were taken but no one came back to clean the room or replace the towels. Our garbage cans were left overflowing. The front desk clerk acted put out to get us towels that evening. Our toilet clogged our second night requiring us to use the public restroom. There were stains on the sheets and blanket. The air conditioner unit was filthy. The hot tub was barely warm enough and most of the jets were broken making it an unpleasant experience after a long day of sightseeing. My daughter got food poisoning from the breakfast. I was extremely disappointed in this stay. I had high hopes for the only hotel on our trip in which we would spend 2 nights. I will never stay there again and would not recommend anyone else to either. I reviewed my stay through Best Western and received communication from the hotel manager. She was not very helpful in addressing my complaints.

"Not the best"
srdaloha, 28 Mars 2019

I recently stayed at this hotel. It was dr Dirty cigarette buts in lobby for to days, the elevator had oreo crumbs for 3 day I woke up in the middle of the night to find the roof was leaking, yes i was on the top floor. Called the front desk only yo learn maintenance not on during night. No I did not go back to sleep. In the am. When I checked out unable to get of summary because person manning the front desl either didn't know how or understand what i wanted. Will never be there again

"Great time at the Best Western!"
OnAir41825604872, 26 Février 2019

This place is AMAZING and the breakfast is delicious! My room was clean and large. The staff is always friendly and they are so accommodating. I always stay here every time I am in the Bay Area!! You won't regret your stay here.

"Nice Inn and great location"
Qusai H, 05 Février 2019

Hotel was well located with given amenities. Room were good and clean. Breakfast was decent enough though coffee was cold as server used to get in jug and then pour it in flask. Could have some improvements

"Hard beds"
AJ85119, 28 Décembre 2018

I have spent the Christmas holiday here for several years & feel it has gone downhill some. I did the corporate survey so maybe that will help. The bed was so hard I felt like I was sleeping on the floor Ugh! Still the best value in Martinez.

"Overall very nice, but some nitpicks"
Lori S, 21 Décembre 2018

We recently spent five nights at the John Muir Inn, and I really, really want to give it five stars. They did so many things very well. The beds were very comfortable and the wifi worked well. The staff were very courteous. The breakfast had a nice selection and there were cookies available in the evening! There was a nice little kitchenette area in the room. However, there were just too many little things we didn't like. There was barely adequate room in the parking lot and some nights we wondered if we'd find a spot. The rooms desperately need more and brighter lights. A floor lamp by the "comfy" chair is especially needed. There is almost no counter space in the bathroom, and I am a woman who doesn't wear make-up and doesn't need a lot of space. The gravy at breakfast was almost always cold. A couple of days we didn't get new drinking glasses while the old ones were taken away. And while the desk person tried to do a nice thing by giving us a room in a little tucked away corner, we ended up getting LOTS of highway noise. Nothing much individually, but it all adds up. So while I would recommend this hotel, I can only give it four stars.

"Not what was expected"

Usually; this hotel has lived up to expectations... this time not as much... when we made our reservation there is a option on there for having a crib; we checked that box; as we were traveling with our toddler and the last time we stayed we were told there were cribs available... so we didn't bring her pack and play... then as we checked in; we were told they don't have cribs... then why is that even a option on the site??? So after a 3 hour long drive from the airport my husband and I had to scramble to find a bed for our toddler... spending additional 45$ Later... we would have stayed at another hotel if we knew this... also the website is not clear as to what the rooms include... again as we were traveling with kids we wanted to have a room with a kitchenette... we chose the room type with this option... we were placed in a room not with these amenities... we can live without it but not the crib... beginning experience not up to the quality that we are expecting especially being best western members... so disappointing...

"Best Hotel"

This is one of the best hotel's to stay at in the area of Martinez. It's located in a really nice area that has a great shopping center across the street and also a movie theaters across the street. Great place to stay at :)

"Exceptional location"
Seangie, 26 Octobre 2018

Although the hotel is a bit of an older building, it is very well kept with friendly and helpful staff. The Breakfast is a good quick bite to start your day. 25-30 minutes from San Francisco and Napa Valley and Muir park. Would recommend as an alternate to staying in SF if your budget conscience as long as you have a vehicle available.

ilikevegas2004, 23 Octobre 2018

This is a very nice hotel. I like the idea that all rooms have inside entrances. I like the idea of opening my door to a hallway instead of the outdoors. I always feel more safe. The bed was very comfortable as was the chair. They serve breakfast, but it ended before I got up. There are a few restaurants across the street. I loved the Mexican food.

"Awful Management"
StaceyMas, 18 Octobre 2018

I stayed at this hotel for a work trip for 3months. The first 3 weeks everything was fine then they moved me to another room. The 2nd room had bed bugs and I had bites all over both arms. I complained to the front desk but nothing was done!!! They said there was no available rooms so I actually went to the store and bought something to treat my room. There was also a guest at the front desk complaining about bed bugs and his lock cut off his trailer in the parking area. Then they told me I had to move again 3 weeks later on my only day off. I was assured that this room would be available for the remainder of my stay. Well 2 weeks later I got a call while I was working and was told that they needed to move me ! I so NO!!! But was lied to by the manager that the room had to be remodeled. I came back from work and there was someone checked into my room so I went to the front desk and was rudely informed by the manger that they moved all my belongings to another room! She just kept arguing saying I agreed WHICH I DID NOT so I open the door and all my belongings are thrown in 2 big trash bags on the bed. They even shoved the dirty clothes in a suitcase with my clean clothes. I definitely feel violated knowing they opened my suitcases . I will talk to the General Manager as well as Corporate but I would say this hotel is not living up to the standards of Best Western and I would NEVER recommend this hotel

"More for the local workers than for the road warrior"
Phil S, 17 Octobre 2018

Old building, needing sound proofing and updating. Right next to the John Muir Highway and traffic is always loud. Poor building construction has thin walls and floors, so neighbors and hallway are always being heard. Staff is friendly, but mostly disinterested in getting anything done. Be better off going across the street to Starbucks or Burger King for breakfast.

"Convenient and pleasant"
Braddock52, 13 Octobre 2018

We were going to a wedding in Vallejo and decided to stay the weekend at this hotel after doing our research. We stayed Friday through Monday and since we reserved the room a while ago we got a decent rate. We got a room on the 3rd floor and apparently expedia saw my age and assigned us a handicapped room. I said we would take it. The bathroom was very large and the room was spacious and on the end of the hall so we didn't have to worry about the TV as I am hard of hearing. The hotel was right off the highway so there was a little traffic noise but not much. The window could be opened so it was nice to have the fresh air. The staff was very helpful and friendly and we got to know them during our stay. There is a little pool and Jacuzzi outside which I took advantage of, at least the Jacuzzi, the pool was unheated. Every morning we were able to get a real nice breakfast downstairs. The WiFi was very good and I didn't notice any stoppage of service. The nice thing about the location is that there is a strip center right across the street with some nice places to eat and even a CVS and small grocery store. We had a very nice time and if we are ever in that area again will stay there.

"SOLID THREE STAR HOTEL"
Lj-OnTheGo, 24 Septembre 2018

Easy to get to off of Highway 4. Hotel & room was clean. Staff was pleasant. Small pool & hot tub. Okay breakfast, but we stayed on a busy three day weekend and they ran out of food at breakfast which was inconvenient. Would stay here again if we are in the area.

"Great experience. Clean hotel with friendly staff."
Cruiser279172, 27 Août 2018

Great experience. Clean hotel with friendly staff. Good breakfast. Great location with good shopping near by, and a movie theater across the street. Also, many restaurants located close by. Would stay there again.

"Hotel stay"
Jim-Barb-F, 27 Août 2018

Room was adequate for two adults. Fairly quiet. Good bed, too many pillows. Desk and lounge chair. Good TV. Had refrigerator and Microwave.Great cleaning staff. Breakfast was adequate. Parking at times was an issue. People were smoking right outside the front door. Our room had some items that were not working properly. Value for what you received was very good.

"Hotel review"
Sharisse M, 27 Août 2018

Lovely location, convenient to restaurants and services, quiet at night, good breakfast bar, good price. Courteous employees. Pool is clean and hot tub is pleasant. Good parking area that is well lit. Carpet needs to be replaced in hallways. Ceiling squeaks.

"In the trees, near the town"
Susan B, 21 Août 2018

This Best Western was 10 minutes from downtown Martinez, and 16 minutes from Benicia, where my art class was held. The property itself was reasonably quiet, except for the Sunday night dork yelling in the corridor. Clean, hospitable, it's typical of what you've come to expect of Best Western.

"Great breakfast"
Aree M, 20 Août 2018

The breakfast is really a highlight at this BW. A lot of the food seemed to be homemade and there was great selection. Nothing quite like crispy bacon in the morning, is there? The only disappointment with breakfast is the poor layout and lack of seating--however, I think I saw some people bringing food back to their rooms, which is not something allowed at all BWs. Other than that, I would say that I had a poorer than average experience at this BW. There was a long wait at check-in, and the room, while clean, seemed a bit shabby and in need of some repairs. In addition, some of the room features did not seem well-thought-out, such as the curtain for the closet being right by the door and prone to slipping out when the door was opened and shut. The AC was also a bit anemic, but thankfully it wasn't a very hot day. In keeping with a troubling trend, this BW placed me into a room with 2 doubles instead of a room with 2 queens. This had previously happened to me at a BW in Anaheim in May, and after denials from the hotel I called BW corporate to confirm the size of their queens. In both cases, based off the size of beds the room did not have queen-sized beds, and while the front desk clerk at John Muir confirmed that the room had doubles, the manager denied that was the case and so there was no refund for the cost difference. If you are staying in Martinez, this place may be worth it for the great breakfast. Just be sure to confirm your booking--the woman who checked out ahead of me was in the same boat (booking a queen room and getting saddled with a full). Buyer beware, I guess.

"Just barely ok"
frequent_traveler290, 13 Août 2018

This is an older building in need of much repair. As we sat at the pool and looked up, we could see a large gaping hole in the trim alongside the building. One window screen was obviously pried open (burglar??) Appeared that the pool area was never swept as it was difficult to walk barefoot around all the fallen pine needles and the black sappy stuff that dripped from the trees. Too much chlorine in the pool, burning our eyes. Broken umbrella at one table. Outside trash barrels were overflowing with garbage. "Smoking post" needs to be further away from the Front Lobby as us people in the nearby pool area smelled cigarette smoke time and time again. Surprisingly, indoors appeared to be in much better condition although it's obvious that this is an old and well used building. Our room was quiet even though there was traffic noise it wasn't an issue whatsoever. Must admit that the shortened length of the shower curtain is a bit odd as it still allowed water to leak onto the bathroom floor. Our room was being cleaned as we returned from the pool. So we sat and waited about 10 minutes as I wore a towel around my waist. Imagine my horror when I later discovered a red rash on my body, apparently from the chemicals used in cleaning the towels. Whatever you do, use the towel and quickly discard as you too may get dozens of red blisters on your body. Breakfast: Crumbs absolutely everywhere. Sticky chair which my husband managed to sit on, stained his clothes. The "potatoes" were disgusting. Should have eaten elsewhere. When I pushed the HOT WATER button on the water dispensing machine, nothing happened. Repeated, repeated, repeated and repeated. Finally had to locate an employee to explain to me how to push two buttons simultaneously to get hot water (what about a sign on the machine???) Nice to have a shopping center across the street. Overall, we have stayed at many many Best Westerns and this one is definitely near the bottom of our list. If we ever return to Martinez, we'll find somewhere else to stay.

"Motel 6 is a luxury compare to this place"
Vanessa N, 30 Juillet 2018

I normally dont write reviews but tgis place was horrible a motel 6 would be a luxury compare to here. Food was horrible would be alone. Of time until they refilled the food options the lady looked very upset and like if she hated her job whenever we ask if that they will replace something that would be out of the room was dirty that was dried up snot on the walls when we called the service to come clean it they even had a hard time removing it there was leftover plate trays containers underneath the AC from prior guess there was hair all over the tub the sheets were so thin and worn out that we could see through them the comforter was stained there is no closet it's just a ride against the wall with occur in the front of it the room was small the hallway is arm's length from the across rooms which you can hear everything there was light coming in from the outside hallway and you can hear everybody walk and talk I can hear the dog down the hallway all night from us just plain horrible I could really say that the Motel 6 would it be my better options then this place

"Best Western winner again"
DonaldYokum, 26 Juillet 2018

Every time I check into a Best Western, I'm looking for flaws in their upkeep and management, because they're so hard to find. This property had no flaws in the room that we were assigned to, everything worked well, and we were perfectly comfortable. The morning brought the evidence that their breakfast room was not capable of handling the onslaught of people stuffing their maws with the goodies that were on display. I sett led for a cup of coffee.

"Average, older hotel, good location"
JaneT013, 25 Juillet 2018

Good location: near the highway, but quiet. I think this hotel has been around a while. Generally clean and pleasant, with very helpful, friendly staff at the front desk. They seemed to be very busy: we arrived after check-in time, but had to wait for the room to be cleaned (in the hurry to clean, the cleaning staff missed a few spots in the corners of the bathroom, but mostly the room was clean and had everything we needed). Breakfast was standard, with cereal, rolls, fruit, etc. The only issue was that the walls were pretty thin (or the door was pretty thin), because we heard a lot of conversations in the hall. It did get quieter later in the evening, but noisy again in the early morning. Fine for an overnight stay.

"Poor Experience"
christinejonesev2018, 24 Juillet 2018

Dirty room; grape vines on room floor from previous guests. Stains on carpet. Crown molding coming off wall. Water pressure horrible. Neighboring guests on 2nd floor smoking marijuana first 2 of 3 nights of our stay. Breakfast foods put away prior to stated closing time. BW brand usually very reliable; not so at this hotel.

"Very poor quality"
Willie B, 29 Juin 2018

This is a very below average hotel. Rooms are out dated and have bad smoke odor. Refrigerator made noise though out the night. I had to call them back to change my sheets and they did not leave any clean towels in the bathroom. They left the bathroom sink fixture in the room ????. (See picture)

"Excellent"
cynthiaisla, 03 Juin 2018

The facility was well kept with staff constantly maintaining the grounds and the inside.Very convenient to grocery, Chinese restaurant, pizza place and other stores just across the road. Although the hotel is pet friendly there is no bad smell at all. I also would like to give 2 thumbs up to the professional courteous and attentive staff of this hotel. Excellent cleaning staff. Definitely will be back

"Great Location"
782henryk, 30 Mai 2018

Great, CLEAN room! Bed was comfortable. Excellent breakfast selection: small omelets, sausage links, biscuits and gravy, yogurt, waffles, juice and of course coffee. Good selection of nearby restaurants. We ate at a Chinese place that was very good.

"disapointing"
jancX4942UU, 19 Mai 2018

needed a last minute one night stay and this was adequate for that purpose but disapointing compared to other experiences at Best Western properties. Carpet was threadbare, stairwell was dingy, room smelled odd and unpleasant, and was extremely noisy. Desk staff were unsympathetic and said I should've requested a different room if it was a problem because they weren't going to turn off the vending machines. My bill was different than the price I'd been quoted and I ended up spending quite a bit more than I had anticipated for a less than stellar experience.

"Fine staff, nice hotel"
Patrick F, 13 Mai 2018

We stayed at the Best Western John Muir Inn. It was fine. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was very pleasant and polite. The breakfast was typical Best Western fare and met our expectations. The outside parking lot was a bit sketchy. There was quite a bit of activity and we didn't feel that we or our vehicle were very safe. We would have felt better if the property had surveillance cameras.

"Enjoyable"
TERRESA P, 29 Avril 2018

Went for a girls trip with 6 year old grand daughter. She enjoyed the pool and hot tub, but the pool is not heated! Smoking allowed around pool area. The shower handle would not work in room 133. The rooms are pretty tiny but adequate, the beds are comfortable but I think they are double beds, not queen as stated. The lobby area was really nice. The front desk clerks were very helpful, Alyssa especially. Shopping center directly across the street was an added bonus, several restaurants there. The breakfast was excellent. I would return if I could get a bigger room (I tried to purchase one, but there were no suites as the website suggested). Also, I asked if the pool was heated when reserving; I was told yes. I would return if the these two items were addressed.

"Ideal Location"
Sara F, 28 Avril 2018

I liked the location of this Best Western as it was across the street from a pharmacy if you forgot your toothbrush, a bagel place for breakfast and a bar & grill for dinner and after work drink. It was only 8 minutes from the courthouse and easy to get to from Oakland Airport.

"John Muir Inn Martinez CA - AWESOME"
silverdeer2018, 12 Avril 2018

The hotel is located across the street from a shopping complex with good places to eat and a large grocery store. Located close to everything in the Martinez and Concord. The only drawback was the non-slip surface in the bath tub. The tub was very slippery but it was pointed out to the staff and hopefully corrected

"Disappointment Awaits "
Anita B, 07 Avril 2018

From Check in to Check out it felt awkward and unwelcoming. The check in clerk was not friendly at all and seemed to be clueless about the hotel and the Rewards program. In the room the clerk gave us was an “Accessible” room so we had a roll in shower; just seems strange that the clerk didn't tell us we aren't getting a tub and regular shower. We also couldn't change the channel on the television in the room; we asked for the clerk to come rectify this problem, he said he would be up in “15” minutes but never came. I finally went downstairs to get someone and some man came up and found that the device to change channels fell on the floor; which is super strange. The Breakfast they offer is just to say the least is a disappointment. I have been to quite a few Best Westerns ( Rome and Palm Desert were the best) that offer delicious breakfast options but here they offer very little and what they do offer is not at all appetizing. Dried up sausages and soggy biscuits is about the only items available. Overall I wouldn't recommend this hotel. Nearby there are hotels that are just as reasonably price and not awkward and unwelcoming

"Martinez trip"
Ronnie M, 06 Avril 2018

very helpful staff good biscuits , did not like bed and pillows, have allergy to down pillows other wise very good stay. good health room equipment, could have better TV stations available. could use a steam room

"Two night stay in Martinez"
Whimsicalartist, 01 Avril 2018

Other than the poor quality of food the hotel was terrific, comfortable and the staff was exceptional. I enjoy the area and I have family in a neighboring town. Improve the food quality without increasing the rates.

"Overnight Stay"
Momofbowler, 29 Mars 2018

I enjoyed staying there. I went to the movie theatre across the street and had a very peaceful sleep when I returned. The breakfast was good, just needed to be a little hotter for me. The breakfast needs to be refilled until they actually close the area.

"Stayed here for 2 months plus with a great experience overall"
Steve W, 28 Mars 2018

Alyssa, is by far the best hotel employee I have had the pleasure to deal with. Wonderful customer service. Everyone else has also been great to me, housekeeping, the people doing breakfast, any given day etc. Everyone I have delt with has been very accommodating and nice, it is agreat place to stay due to the staff. ????????

"Find another place to stay"
TheTraveling3, 24 Mars 2018

Upon making reservation, requested non-smoking and non-pet room because of pet allergies. Was given a room on first floor- hallway and room smelled like cigarettes, and I saw someone with a pet. Room was changed to third floor "because they never allow pets on that floor". The next night a barking dog was on the third floor in one of the rooms. When I asked, this time I was told that if they have no other rooms they will put customers with pets on the 3rd floor and there are really no guarantees of any pet-free rooms. TV had problems; requested assistance but hotel maintenance person never showed up. The place is shabby, and the breakfasts are quite minimal in comparison to other Best Western Hotels we have stayed at. This hotel needs a visit from Best Western to see if they are in compliance with the chain standards. I don't think so.

"Business Travel With Team"
Deb S, 18 Mars 2018

My first room was not great as it was on the first floor with a motion-sensor light right outside the window. However, they gave me a new room on the second floor with a little kitchenette and sitting area. While I did not need the kitchenette the sitting space was nice. The corner room had both sets of windows facing a busy street. However, the traffic did not bother me when I was working, studying or sleeping. Really useful to have WiFi and a nice sitting area in the lobby where the team could meet quick.

"Stinks. Lousy housekeeping."
xxx340, 28 Janvier 2018

Six night stay. Requested that bedspread be changed on second day. Finally on the fourth day I stripped it off myself and delivered to the front desk. Housekeeping never did replace it. The entire second floor smelled like a high school locker room after a basketball game. Excessively noisy. Lots of loud, discourteous patrons.

"Manager prevents staff from meeting guest needs for towels, dietary needs."
Kenneth L, 27 Janvier 2018

Management does not allow staff to give more than two sets of towels per room, no matter how many occupants! Breakfast attendant had almond milk available but said management would only allow her to distribute xx number of containers per day, no matter how many guests made a request. We found cockroach in room, brought it to desk. Appreciated that the gave us a can of bug spray. They said they would notify maintenance, but did not. The next day, when we inquired, there was no record of our complaint.

"Sticky residue on furniture and potato chips under bed!"
SherazAli, 01 Janvier 2018

Room smelled like cigarettes and hallway smelled like marijuana! Add noisey dogs and dirty room, now you're ready to party! First night there was a guy on a bicycle going around the parking lot yelling "Jim"! A few hours later another guy shows up and starts yelling obscenities at the sky (I think he was Jim). The front desk lady was very nice and always smiling, happy to help me with anything (she was wearing an elbow brace)! Breakfast is typical eggs sausage along with some fruit, yogurt, and cereal in dispensers and milk in jugs. Coffee station is dirty with sugar everywhere and sticky creamer containers. The sink water pressure in room 136 is set for squirrels, maybe birds!? It's extremely low. By the time I filled my hands to splash my face the soap would dry and crust up. The location is peddler centric! There's a nice shopping center across the street with some good places to eat and shop. Other stores are well within a 5-15 mins drive.

"Good for the price"
bribri8677RJ, 30 Décembre 2017

We stayed for Christmas to see family and friends in Walnut Creek and we're pleasantly surprised. Good location and great staff. Some of the other tenants were a little interesting but nothing that I would knock the hotel for. Overall we'll be coming back.

"Ok but not the best..."
borisph, 28 Décembre 2017

The hotel was ok but not the best. The rooms were clean which is all I can say went well during my stay. First off, the WIFI was not working properly which made it difficult to do any work at night. The rooms were some what outdated and I noticed that many doors seemed like they were jammed and broken into. This made me have an uneasy feeling. Lastly, the hotel cable wasn't working properly and I didn't have any cable for 2 of my 3 nights. Perhaps my review would be better had I not had technical issues. On a side note, I was working in San Francisco City during my business trip and I regretted staying at this location given the long commute into that area.

"Too noisy in the daytime."
Y3209WJpaulw, 19 Décembre 2017

I drive truck at night and need to sleep during the day. I tell the clerk this when I check in, EVERYTIME! My first time there, she put me on the west side of the building, and I get woken up by the bright sun after 2 hours. This last time she put my I'm the first room from the elevator, so I get to listen too every person pass by my room. Some are talking loud, others bang their suitcases around. The doors do very little to block noise. The shower was less than warm, sink too, when I had to shower at 11:00am, but of course, plenty hot when I was checking out at 8:30pm. At least the TV worked. My first time there, they had to replace the HDMI cable and program the TV...took about an hour (I only have 10 hours downtime), the second time they didn't have the necessary remote to fix it, so I had no TV at all. This time there were 3 Corona beer bottles around the outside of the building when I checked in at 11:00 am, when I checked out at 8:30pm, the other 3 were now in the parking lot.

"Last minute convenience"
ronchen82, 19 Décembre 2017

Stayed here over Thanksgiving weekend on a last minute reservation. There were a lot of construction workers staying here. The parking lot is odd in that it wraps around the hotel, but there's only one entrance and one exit independent of each other so choose your parking spot carefully. Martinez is safer than Concord and Antioch, but still be careful of your belongings since the motel is right by a freeway onramp. The hotel is fine due to its age, but the noise from the freeway is incessant. I recommend asking for a room facing away from the freeway if you're sensitive to noise. The breakfast is hardly worth mentioning and definitely not worth any pictures. Given the lack of choices it the area, I would stay in Pleasant Hills or Walnut Creek.

"Long weekend in California"
Chuck M, 14 Décembre 2017

Needed a place to stay while attending a family gathering. This was suggested to us because of the location. Close to downtown and across the street from shopping and restaurants. The parking was very full. However an employee was parking her new Mini in a handicapped spot by the front door. That was not necessary. The hotel is not new, but well maintained. Beds are very comfortable. My wife has a bad back, and requires an elevated head. when we raised up the mattress to add a pillow for height...lo and behold....3 KNIVES. We reported it to the desk and they came and removed them. This was a very disturbing find. There must be a story to be told about how they got there. Assistant manager said they would compensate us for the inconvenience...Hasn't happened yet. Breakfast was plentiful, and the attendant very pleasant.

"Overnight in Martinez"
Dennis W, 10 Décembre 2017

I was traveling through the area with work and found this place to be conveniently located to highway 4 with plenty of options for food close by. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The in room worked fine and the breakfast was pretty good. I would definitely recommend.

"I love it they make you feel at home very warm and cozy"
Nicole G, 09 Décembre 2017

I love it they make you feel very comfortable. It's very warm and cozy makes you feel like your right at home. The quality of the bed is perfect as well it makes you never wanna get out of bed.!!!!!!!

"Welcoming and Friendly"
BARBARA E, 08 Décembre 2017

Rooms are clean and comfortable. All the staff I have dealt with the many times I have stayed there are helpful and knowledgeable. The location is easy on and off the freeway, yet the rooms are quiet.

"Family visit"
Not1fish, 02 Décembre 2017

Very friendly welcome, our room was clean stocked well and bed was comfortable. The breakfast was surprisingly well complimented and very clean. We will revisit the hotel soon. The staffs great service is the most important reason why we were so pleased

"Pretty area"
918barbras, 02 Décembre 2017

Area has a fresh, clean appeal. Best Western is near a corner, easy to find. Windows can be opened. Lots of parking, well lit. Staff present all night also. Its a safe feeling. Multiplex theater near by and plenty of healthy places to eat.

"Bundled through Expedia and got an excellent rate for our stay."
44vickip, 02 Décembre 2017

Kudos for the free breakfasts. My husband loved them and ate one (sometimes two) every day we were there. Good selection of items to choose from. Also, I tipped the maid. I don't usually do that, even though my one job before going away to college was at the Big Sur Lodge in Big Sur, CA. So I know how hard that job can be. We even told her one day that she didn't need to bother with cleaning up the room, we needed no towels and I'm fine with sleeping on sheets I've slept on the night before. She did such a great job on the days that she did clean up room that she deserved a tip. People should really tip their house cleaners at hotels more!

"Clean, cozy, welcoming"
deannal26, 30 Novembre 2017

Very good stay at John Muir Inn/BW. The rooms are clean and bright, bedding and furniture looks and feels new. Bathrooms remodeled. The only thing(s) not upgraded during their remodel are the room doors and the "feel" of the hallway leading to the rooms. Breakfast is more than adequate, but could have more interesting items. Wait staff, check in, and houskeeping some of the best I've encountered, and we are high hotel-users for work and leisure.

"Great Spot"
Asia D, 26 Novembre 2017

Staff is lovely. Would definitely stay again! Breakfast is okay...would definitely heat up the sausages a little longer. Overall great experience and would recommend to family and friends. Thank you so much!

"Not sure what you mean."
Mike M, 25 Novembre 2017

Most likely will not stay at this hotel again. The room and the whole place was dirty. Dog poop was on the stairs going up to room. Bed sheets were thin and stained. The lobby was not very inviting. Had to wait for someone to show up at desk both during check in and check out. Other quest were smoking and loud around us. Too many dogs. Surprised there is not a crosswalk between hotel and shopping center. Very dangerous.

"Very Poor Quality for Price"
Laura S, 17 Novembre 2017

Been staying here regularly since 2011 and the hotel has deteriorated while prices go up. I think because they don't have a problem with low vacancy (due to the many manual laborers that stay there for work/jobs in the area), they do not have to be competitive or cater to their guests. This hotel is at the very low end of all the other BW hotels I have stayed at - especially in the Midwest and South.

"Not up to par for best Western"
181clairt, 15 Novembre 2017

no working TV not enough towels for the guests staying in the room. they had a dispute with the cable company so the guests had to pay because they couldn't work it out. They had problems with the billing charging more that my reservation was they corrected this. lots of problems with this stay.

"Bittersweet "
Emmy707, 11 Novembre 2017

Checking In: A lovely lady whose name I don't know because she wasn't wearing a name badge helped me she was kind and very informative. On the other hand the other gal next to her also not wearing a name badge was not very friendly. Hallways need more lively frames and better wall construction. The room smells clean and is very modern. Breakfast was nice. Nice stay but it could have been better.

"Awful"
nicoleO411XR, 11 Novembre 2017

Dirty sheets, thin walls, so you can hear everytghing from your neighbors. There is a sign on the toilet that tells you to take a rilubber band off the flsp before flushing. The nightly rates were doubled because I didn't pay in full prior via hotels.com. It was an awful experience.

"Won't get a good rest here"
Bayleebleu, 10 Novembre 2017

I know this is close to the court house, but if you value your sleep, go elsewhere. The Bed is horrible and room had an oder. The room wasn't the cleanest and there was a lump of someone else's hair in the tub. I think they should hire people that want to work instead of the front office lady that couldn't be bothered with us.

"Nice older motel"
franceent, 08 Novembre 2017

Rooms were smallish and dated, but staff was very friendly. They accept Pets, which is why we stayed. Great breakfast room person, and great hot breakfast. Front desk staff also friendly and made sure our needs were met.

"Great stay"

Walls and door are thin causing LOTS of noise to be easily heard. I could see light coming through door jamb and at bottom of door. The noise caused multiple wake ups. Bathroom was adequately stocked. The price of the room was affordable. Service at the front counter was good. Lobby was good. Since I'm evaluating, one more thing....better sound isolation is needed in the bathroom. Overall, I'm glad we were there only one night.

"Overnight sleep"
jesusvY8741AR, 16 Octobre 2017

We went to 6 Flags Discovery Kingdom for Fright Fest. Came back to the hotel tired after a long day and checked out before 11A.M. My overall experience with this location was Excellent, however i wish it would have been closer to 6Flags because in order to get there we had to pass a toll, otherwise it would take around 2 hours to ge around XD

"Older, refurbished hotel, great breakfast "
Liz305111, 15 Octobre 2017

We stayed here for a night after our late night flight into San Francisco. The hotel has been refurbished, but the soundproofing wasn't updated. The big plus was breakfast. The best continental breakfast that I've had in a hotel. Food was fresh, tasty and not greasy.

"Bad trip"
charliehF5004GK, 13 Octobre 2017

Given room right by ice machine in hall was used all night long. Rooms were clean and functionable but service was lacking, seemed more interested in talking with fellow employees and This is all done in front of the customers

"Good for a stopover"
PSKT, 09 Octobre 2017

I chose this hotel as a convenient stopover after a long transatlantic flight to Oakland. It worked well for this. There were a few niggles: the room was fairly small and the plunger in the bathtub did not fit properly. But generally it was good: the reception was friendly and quick; the breakfast had a wide range of items and was well stocked; and there were several nice extras including bottled water in the room and plenty of cookies at reception. Martinez is also a pleasant and quite attractive place to stay with all the necessary amenities close to the hotel. The price was also lower than most other hotels I considered in the area.

"ehhh"
988taliah, 04 Octobre 2017

average...I prefer a better quality hotel. This is average. Bathroom sink is super small and doesn't really accommodate getting ready. Not sure the last time the bedspread was washed. Front desk ladies were very nice helpful however.

"A place for family to stay"
168gigiw, 22 Septembre 2017

My friends and family stay at this location when coming to town for the holidays or just a visit, the place is conveniently located to highway 4 about 35 minutes from San Francisco and 35 minutes from wine country and 3 hours from Lake Tahoe, there is a nice grocery store and restaurant across the street as well as a movie theater

"Too Noise to Sleep!"
Gini B, 22 Septembre 2017

Lots of maintenance teams stay here and they have very little regard for quietness ... front staff very limited on helping with the problem of noise ... well located ... right off freeway ... parking is limited ... you get what you pay for!

"Martinez best western"
maureenf343, 19 Septembre 2017

Nice average best western with average breakfast fair, comfortable beds, a clean pool and hot tub. Book in advance though as is often filled with contractors. only problem experienced was the Elevator was out during our stay, and we had asked for a ground floor, but ended up on floor 2

"A Nice Find"
Q2605CYgregr, 17 Septembre 2017

Since the other Best Western properties where I usually stay were charging too much for rooms this trip. I found this one where rates within my price range. It was a really nice find. Friendly, helpful, professionally attired staff; attractive, appealing exterior, very clean; and well appointed rooms.

"Best western John muir"
ricardoalejandrom846, 07 Septembre 2017

I had a very comfortable and Great stay at the best western John Muir inn a big thank you to the staff there very helpful and charming the breakfast was great a lot of options looking forward to my next stay there

"Pleasant Stay at John Muir Inn"
Paul M, 06 Septembre 2017

The John Muir Inn is in a convenient location in northern Contra Costa County. The staff is pleasant, the breakfast has a variety of fruits, cereals, eggs, sausage, potatoes, bread and waffles. The motel's WiFi is reliable, though it was slow at times, during the evening's higher use hours. The motel is conveniently located off a Highway 4 exit. A shopping mall with grocery store, a variety of restaurants, a Starbucks and other shops is located across the street from the motel.

"THE WORST BEST WESTERN!"
186freddied, 05 Septembre 2017

Nasty dirty covers, nasty dirty carpets, unfriendly staff. you can catch the housekeepers on the second floor on their phone, talking to each and doing no work.... This hotel DO NOT recognize/respect their DIAMOND REWARDS MEMBER!

"John Muir Inn"
Annmarie T, 31 Août 2017

I explained to checkin clerk that I needed a very good night's rest for next day medical procedure. I was given an isolated, very private room and had an excellent night's rest. Buffet breakfast was one of best ever, especially moist omelettes. I only stay at Best Westerns because they are The BEST!

"THEFT - DAMAGED MOTORCYCLE - SKETCHY PEOPLE"
cruilla, 30 Août 2017

Do not stay here! Too many sketchy people lurking around the parking lot. Very unfriendly staff and dated rooms and uncomfortable beds. If this is what you are looking for stay if not drive on about 15 minutes. Remember I warned you!

"Pleasant stay"
Jim-Barb-F, 27 Août 2017

We stayed nine nights at the John Muir Best Western in Martinez. Clean, friendly. The room was a bit crowded around the desk area with pointed corned that got bumped into a few times, but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good, better than expected. We had an elevator issue one day. Great freeway access to do things in the area. Overall a very nice stay.

"Excellent stay at the John Muir Inn."
Daniel N, 26 Août 2017

Excellent location and excellent Best Western hotel. I have stayed here in the past and it is always a great stay. I love the Martinez area as it is a nature lovers location. Will definitely stay here again.

"Lots of construction guys"
joshmH1462RQ, 24 Août 2017

There are a lot of construction type of guys at this hotel. With those types, it's hard to keep things nice. Things that I noticed that made this a bad experience .... the carpet was disgustingly dirty, the window in my room had a broken latch (like someone busted it on purpose to open the window all the way), the covers on top of the bed had stains, the television channel guide that is next to the remote was completely inaccurate, I called the front desk one evening to ask what channel ESPN was on and the girl said that she would have to go check on the TV in the lobby and that she would call me back ..... well, she never called back, I had to call her and ask if she had found it .... of course I could have checked all the channels but that's not the point. The next night I went down to ask her a question and she didn't seem like she wanted to be bothered by me. When I was checking in on Monday night about 10pm, I parked behind some cars that were parked in the handicapped spots because they were close to the lobby because there were no other spots available, even the 10 minute check-in only spots were taken. When I walked in through the front entrance, a couple of the construction workers (unsavory looking guys ... flat billed hats ... tattoos ... smoking ... mean look on their faces) commented to each other (loud enough for me to hear) something about "I hope no handicappers have to leave". I would have driven my car around back to find an open space if it wasn't for me feeling unsafe to walk past those guys with all my expensive work gear to get in to the hotel, that's why I parked where I did to check in. I don't need to get talked to like that by those types of men. By the way, the gal that checked me in that night also parked behind the handicapped spots too! She probably didn't feel safe either. In the evening, there were other construction guys hanging out leaning on their trucks until late in the evening, smoking, drinking, cooking on a grill in the bed of the truck .... it's just not something that I care to have to endure when I travel. I was traveling for business this week, and I can deal with it, but I definitely would not recommend this hotel to anyone I know, especially if they are planning to travel with their wife and/or kids. God only knows how my wife would have been treated by these guys ... or teenage daughter. Good luck with this property, I won't be staying there again.

"Good stay"
Fred K, 19 Août 2017

May have had the best breakfast I have ever had at a Best Western. Facilities clean, stayed on the highway side which is the only reason this was not excellent. Staff was attentive, thoughtful and polite.

"Not bad"
Keith O, 19 Août 2017

If you just need a place to stay, this isn't a bad choice. The hotel is kept clean and looks nice. It is am older place but it doesn't look like it. The rooms are very nice, clean and the bed is comfortable. The bathroom was clean. The shower head is mounted higher than most hotels; for those of you that aren't highly challenged. Try to stay at the end of the floor because of the ice machine. Very loud at night when you're trying to sleep. I was on the 2nd floor. Staff was nice and curtious.

"Very Good Hotel"
edwardrF5683EE, 15 Août 2017

I had a good stay the second time around at this hotel. The only bad thing the house keeper would knock on the doors at 9am every morning and say HOUSE KEEPING. I was working over night. The hotel is in a good location.

"Great stay"
Stephanie H, 15 Août 2017

Daisy is amazing at the front desk! And Karen works wonders in the breakfast area. I always stay at this hotel when I travel to this area. I would recommend this place to everyone I know. The upgrades they are doing look great

"Cozy and Clean"
R8301KXmichelled, 14 Août 2017

Although, a tiny bit rough around the edges in the hallway, the rooms were pretty nice. Not huge, but clean and cozy. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was the normal best western set up that we look forward to. Do to our schedule, we didn't have time to visit the pool or hot tub, but they looked pretty nice. It was very close to six flags and not too far from San Francisco. I will stay there again.

"Needs severe updating."
Eryn M, 13 Août 2017

When one asks for a nonsmoking room, you get one right? WRONG! Two of the three nonsmoking rooms we booked reeked of smoke. Airing out the room did not even help, as the scent lingered throughout our stay. As someone allergic to smoke, my husband and I were trying to safely air out our room. The laundry room needs vents to pull out the hot, steamy air due to customers doing laundry. The place does need updating. The one plus was that it was within walking distance to a few little dining places.

"Great hotel, great location"
Nomad2020, 12 Août 2017

The Best Western John Muir Inn in Martinez, CA is a very nice property in a very convenient location. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. The room was modern and had everything I needed. When in the area again, I will definitely stay there. BTW, the full, hot breakfast each morning was outstanding!

"Bay Area gem"
Laural C, 08 Août 2017

Great location just into Bay Area with easy access (10 min drive) to BART. Nice little pool. Walk to next door shopping center for food and groceries. This room had a small kitchenette with dishes. Price is much lower that those closer to City.

"Very Pleased!!!!!!!!!"
kerryo913, 07 Août 2017

I was on a business trip and so grateful i was sent to Martinez ca, The accomadations were outstanding and all employess i had the pleasure to meet. Each staff member I met greeted me with a smile and always made sure I was well cared for. It is always so nice to see all employees working as a team and having a great time with all their responsiblities. The rewards program is so wonderful and makes it very affordable.

"Great overnight stay."
Kenneth K, 30 Juillet 2017

Great place to stay while traveling through with our family.Delicious breakfast and awesome front desk staff. She checked us in late afternoon and out the next morning....always smiling, even after working the 2ND shift ,then 1St shift!

"Easy Access"
Beverly B, 30 Juillet 2017

John Muir Lodge is the easiest access the John Muir House, markets, drug stores, restaurants and Walmart. It is family friendly, quiet and is centrally located to Marine World, San Francisco and the delta.

"Stay away"
cattrealtor, 20 Juillet 2017

Rude front desk staff (I interrupted her dinner while she was in charge of check in), She then accused me of trying to sneak my dog in while he was standing next to me in the loby. She hadnt bothered to check my reservation. Put me in a horrible room right across from housekeeping while there were other vacant rooms in the hotel. There was a gap between the door and the threshold that was at least two inches. Security chain broke first time I tried it. Maintenance in the room above for most of the night. And the room was straight out of the year it was built...who knows when? When I asked to be moved the next morning, the person on deck grudgingly agreed. New room was 100% better, with one exception. My daughter and I had serious questions as to whether the sheets had been changed from last stay. Kitchen/breakfast staff was great. Good job and very friendly. I wonder how I would have been treated if Iwasnt a Rewards Member. Making me rethink my stays at Best Western.

"Fun Weekend"
Lisa D, 15 Juillet 2017

Even with the hard beds, my daughter and I enjoyed our stay at this hotel while attending a renaissance festival in the area, I must admit that the staff was very pleasant and helpful for us as we had never stayed in this part of California before

"Weekend get away"
raw678, 14 Juillet 2017

This hotel exceeded our expectations. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. However the parking lot was littered with garbage. Other than that, I would definately recommend this hotel.

"Pretty good value"
greghB7069QM, 10 Juillet 2017

Pretty comfortable stay and not too pricey. Some of the staff seemed to be a bit on the smug side but nothing that couldn't be overlooked while enjoying the stay. Because the hotel is pet friendly it does create a certain smell to have to be tolerated for those of us that don't bring pets with. But overall not a bad stay.

"Outstanding hotel in an outstanding location with an excellent price!!"
A5172WUrachelm, 09 Juillet 2017

This was our second time staying here and we had a great experience both times! Excellent service, location and price!! The rooms are bright and nice decorated and very clean. Excellent amenities!!!!'

"New improved John Muir Best Western"
Charolette F, 03 Juillet 2017

Best Western Hotels & Resorts are best at having a clean room to lay down after a long journey. The John Muir has been under new management and made significant face lift in the last several years with new lobby, professional front desk personal and new mattress and fresh rooms.

"Wonderful! amazing! Best Western management is great!"
Diane_E_A, 30 Juin 2017

Visiting from New Mexico, John Muir National Park. I was amazed by this beautiful room for $100.00. clean, spacious, amazing! Love it! Highly recommend and will return. Staff so kind and sweet. There is a gas stove, sink, fridge etc in the room! Love it

"Great"
B7460TVdanielag, 27 Juin 2017

Room was clean, very organized. Coffee and snack was a plus in the room. With different options for self cleaning. Not just shampoo and hand soap. Breakfast had a lot of options. Specially for picky eaters.

"Had A Great Stay Here"
johnnyhV1012BO, 24 Juin 2017

Great value, Clean rooms , pleasant staff , nice pool , nice daily breakfast , close to freeways , walk to shopping and star bucks and restaurants and movie theaters . I finish by saying to reread what i wrote above

"Bad Night"
richardtJ865JE, 24 Juin 2017

Because I am a diamond member they upgraded us and did not tell us .I reserved a king they gave us two queens and with a kitchen when we went back to the lobby and complained we had the wrong room she said we upgraded you. We said we didn't want the upgrade we wanted a king. She said they didn't have any Kings.

"Good location , good price"
900andreeaf, 19 Juin 2017

Perfect location between Napa Valley and Bay Area . Hotel had a very small pool and you can hear every move in the building ! Yet great service overall , and very clean . Would stay there again . We also enjoyed the restaurants in Martinez downtown !

"good business place to stay"
Peter B, 16 Juin 2017

We were looking for a central location facility to our work and this was it. Nothing over the top but a place to clean up and relax after a day working with an education group, that means a bunch of kids. Good location, reasonable price for the service .

"Friendly Staff Great breakfast but!"
Mike71553, 15 Juin 2017

This is a very nice hotel and staff is welcoming and friendly. They have an awesome breakfast buffet including Belgian waffles very similar to Hampton inn's. The room we had was very large and airy, but was too close to the VERY NOISY Coke Machine on the 3rd floor. It sounds like a garbage truck continually making it's noise. Make sure you are on another floor or way down the hall from the Coke machine which is next to the elevator. We had a maintenance issue in our room but the desk agent was very helpful. The issue could not be fixed and there was not another room in the hotel suitable for us so with her help we were still able to enjoy our stay in the area and make a day trip into San Francisco via Car and Ferry. I wanted to commend Ariana the assistant manager. She was willing to and if necessary do it by herself turn a conference with 2 in wall trundle beds into a room suitable for guests to stay in within a couple of hours notice. We decided to stay in our original room anyways.

"An average stay"
crisc119, 13 Juin 2017

Room was average with older bedding. The staff was fantastic though and the location was perfect with lots of stores including a Starbucks, grocery, and drug store right across the street. Free breakfast in the morning with friendly attendant.

"Not bad...but..."
IDPokefan, 12 Juin 2017

The A/C unit in our room kept shutting off and giving us a message about the front door. It was VERY irritating and the front desk people apparently knew about the issue. Also, the breakfast area was not very clean and very poorly stocked. We had finally earned a free night and, although this was in a nice location and a decent hotel, it was really disappointing to have to fight the A/C all night and to wake up to a cruddy breakfast. I'm a HUGE BW fan...this one was well below what you usually experience.

"Overpriced for hotel needing serious renovations"
vodkaman3, 10 Juin 2017

Family stayed there. First night my wife found a bedbug on the pillow. Staff had no rooms until next night so stuck with that room (ugh). Room with two queens had a gap of 1" under the front door, ketchup on the wall (I hope), a filthy bathroom vent and a mattress that had collapsed preventing any kind of sleep. At least the breakfast was fairly decent. Since many of the issues were related to overall hotel readiness vs staff issues, I provided feedback to the best western corporate customer Svc Dept. No response whatsoever. Very disappointed in best western.

"Family Visit"
BONNIE T, 02 Juin 2017

We were 2 couples on our way to Napa and sharing a room with 2 queen beds. It was a little crowded in that the room seemed wide enough but there was at most 3 feet between the beds and the dresser/desk units. Room was quiet even though the hotel is located on a main street and across from a small shopping plaza. Grounds were well-kept; very small pool area and pool in the front of the building on the street side. We would definitely stay there again if the need arose.

"Very Nice"
1063613297, 31 Mai 2017

Service and room very nice. The lobby/lounge area was nice. The free breakfast was better than expected. Breakfast offerings included a wide variety of quality items. Staff were pleasant and helpful to our group.

"Not what I reserved"
MandyMay1104, 28 Mai 2017

My dad was having major surgery, and I wanted to be close by. This hotel was the only one that would accept our 90 pound dog. I made a reservation 5 days in advance. I wanted a king suite to accommodate my husband, our 8 month old, our dog and myself. I even called 2 days prior to confirm the reservation, and to make sure they knew the size of our dog, and that we have an infant. When we arrived I was told that king suites are on the top floor and dogs are only allowed on the ground floor. Ok, then why did you book me a king suite? "The only room available on the ground floor is a 2 double bed room." Ok, do I have a choice? When we got to our room, it was TINY! Let me say that again...TINY! Did I mention our 90 pound dog? And we were right in front of the ice maker that people were using at ALL HOURS of the night. Did I mention I had an infant as well? I was not happy at all. But my dad was having surgery, what was I to do? I had other things to worry about. Our dog was struggling for space and our infant had NO room to play. My husband and myself were climbing over each other to get what we needed to do done. The staff was friendly, and I did enjoy the constant coffee available, but that didn't make up for that fact that I felt lied to, and had added stress on top of what I was already worrying about.

"Nice Stay"
dannetteb2017, 27 Mai 2017

We ended up here due to an unexpected spider invasion at the family houseboat we planned to stay on. The staff was very accommodating considering we had no reservations for our three day stay. We had three different rooms and they were clean. The lobby/lounge area was nice. The free breakfast was better than expected.

"Terrible facility"
P7132OLwilliaml, 22 Mai 2017

This was the dirtiest hotel we have ever stayed in. Would absolutely not recommend this hotel for anyone. Found dead bedbugs in first room offered, along with an foul odor. Do not stay in this hotel, ever!

"Small rooms"
marcgF3114MV, 21 Mai 2017

First time stay at this hotel. I was disappointed in the size of the rooms. Service was good. They had a very good breakfast. Considering the hotel is not near any major attractions (e.g. airport, convention center, or major shopping center), the room rate was too high.

"Hotel stay"
Alex A, 17 Mai 2017

Overall it's not a bad place to stay. Very convenient that there's plenty of things around such as eateries and movie theater nearby. Only thing I wasn't pleased with is that they didn't give change out for their washer and dryer. They said I had to go get change from the grocery store across the street. Felt like they should provide change for that or have a machine that dispenses quarters.

"Good time"
tania v, 16 Mai 2017

My husband, son and I had a good experience. Office staff was nice and accommodating. Things we asked for we got right away; ie extra tissues, coffee, toilet paper. The room was cleaned everyday. They also had homemade cookies everyday. The breakfast provided was great. It was close to the freeway, stores and restaurants. Everything was within 10 minutes that we were going too. Overall experience was good.

"Quaint Hotel Nestled in California Countryside"
Hovey S, 15 Mai 2017

Looking for a last minute room in the urban San Francisco Bay Area, I booked the John Muir Inn because of the location near my brothers house in the town of Martinez. The hotel is situated on the John Muir Parkway, CA10 and has great access from anywhere in the area. It did turn out to be a bit far from my actual destination, but that was not a big problem. Staff and room we great, for a $100 range Inn, and the breakfast was typical. The lobby was comfortable and cozy with a lit fireplace and nice fluffy furniture. Lots of free parking and a nice strip mall with restaurants and a grocery store right next store. With a small fridge in the room, it was very useful for a multi-day stay. Overall great experience.

"Excellent stay"
lonaldd, 09 Mai 2017

I would recommend this place to anyone. Amenities are very close to the hotel. The staff was very polite. The newly remodeled rooms were nice and clean. The breakfast had all my favorites and was normally set up before their scheduled hours.

"great people"

I was in Martinez, CA. for work and stayed here for 3 months. The staff very friendly and always helpful. Breakfast was excellent. I would definitely stay at this location again just all around good experience. Thanks

"My Experience at The Best Western-John Muir"
278geneh, 01 Mai 2017

I enjoyed my stay for one night with other family members who stayed in one other room. We went to our nephews wedding in Lafayette on Sat. April 29, 2017. We had to stay out in the lobby for awhile before leaving, sat and had coffee and food. All of the employees were very nice. One gal stood head and shoulders above everyone else. She was kind, friendly, smiled and very approachable. Helped me out with a reservation mistake I made and went ahead and cancelled it for me so I could reschedule and stay April 29. Sorry, don't remember her name.

"Awsome Place to Stay"
shimmy2016, 01 Mai 2017

This hotel was not only at a good location but also the staff was great!!! This location was nice enough to let me check in early so I didn't have to wait until the afternoon. The lobby was vert cozy as well

"Excellent Customer service"
kerryo913, 25 Avril 2017

Absolutely incredible service & extremely accommodating. Soft & comfortable bed & bedding. Towels are big & soft & fluffy...breakfast is outstanding..the omelets..sausage..bisquits & gravy are so delicious & every variety of yogurt.

"Served a purpose"
Mandy L, 24 Avril 2017

This hotel is tired, the landing on the second floor constantly smelt of smoke. Our room didn't have a great smell when you walked in the room, however we reported that the shower was broken & it was fixed straight away. The beds were comfortable. The staff were friendly & helpful & the breakfast on offer was good. From there we used the train for a couple of day trips to San Francisco so like I say, it served a purpose.

"Stay at John muir"
Kristie C, 24 Avril 2017

Horrible treatment and excessive noise will not be back . Over charged and charged more than once staff cdnt figure it out had to wait a day to speak to manager.noise went on all weekend and offered few points in compensation. Slap in the face really

"convenient location and pleasant facilities"
Peggy B, 24 Avril 2017

We came here with 30 others for three nights, and all of us enjoyed the pleasant pool, lobby, and other amenities. Great location across from shopping center with Starbuck's, grocery, and several cafe/restaurants. Easy freeway on/off. Breakfast offerings included a wide variety of quality items. Staff were pleasant and helpful to our group. I wouldn't hesitate to stay another day or week.

"Met our needs"
valueseeker1, 10 Avril 2017

Just needed a place to stay overnite so we could get to the Martinez Marina for a fishing trip early the next morning, which was just 10 min away. Easy to find off highway 4. Plenty of parking. Pleasant front-desk person. Room was clean and comfortable with an updated bathroom, including a hairdryer which I used. Comfortable bed. Breakfast was to start at 6am but it was ready earlier which worked out well for us as we had to leave early. Protein foods available, including hardboiled eggs, omelet-like egg pancake, sausage links, yogurt, microwavable egg/sausage sandwich and breakfast burrito. To-go breakfast bags also available with water, fruit, granola bar and packaged pastry. Would recommend for a 1-2 night stay. Best value we found in Martinez/Benicia area.

"Very Noisy"
smithel10, 09 Avril 2017

A car alarm went off in the parking lot around 4 am. It blared for over an hour with the staff doing nothing. What is the point of giving car information at check in if it is not used for anything? The gap under the door was so big that we had to block it with a towel in order to sleep and try to block out the hall noise. Breakfast was included which was nice especially given how little sleep I was able to get

"Baths apparently bad, dogs good - but a fine hotel otherwise"
96donalds, 07 Avril 2017

Although Best Western has pretty well priced itself out of range, and has moved away from the motel model, I still stay at a BW a few times each year - all in all, it is the best chain. This motel was a good value, in a high-priced area, impeccably-maintained, with an excellent breakfast, good internet, and a good location. I was surprised, though, to hear from staff that the tub stoppers were designed not to work - baths apparently create a bacteria problem (having some small medical experience, I find that doubtful). On the other hand, dogs were rampant in that motel. Dogs are a much greater health hazard than baths. But California has of late literally gone to the dogs as childless couples now consider them to be little persons, so I suppose the motel must encourage them. Again, it was otherwise a fine value, in a good location, with a good breakfast, and I would recommend it.

"John Muir Inn, Martinez CA"
Lawrence D, 05 Avril 2017

Here on business, so it's convenient. Nothing outstanding about the property but they are freshening it up currently, which it needs. My room had a small section in the center of the ceiling where the "popcorn" was missing..... like I said they are in the process of rehabbing this hotel. I couldn't quite get the right room temp for some reason- either too warm or too cool.

"Unsatisfactory"
cosmo_lm, 03 Avril 2017

I was not satisfied with the service I received. Upon arrival I was given a room that not only had a horrible smell in the hall way, but there was also construction work going on the entire floor my room was on, & I wasn't told this would be happening. I was just woken up by the loud noises. I couldn't get any work done & had to use the business center to do my work during the day. When I complained I was given an option of another room. Only to find a moldy leaky big spot above the bed. Due to them not having any other rooms available but that one, I decided to stay in the original one I was given. At least it was clean. Also I was offered points that didn't even equal up to a free night. Due to all the inconvenience I would have expected more from staff & management. Especially since I am a rewards member with best western. The peaceful days I thought I was going to get turned into a noisy & nerve racking nightmare. Overall I was very disappointed. I hope their service will improve in the near future.

"Over charged multiple times"

"GOOD VALUE"
76diannah, 26 Novembre 2016

Needed a place to stay over Thanksgiving so we could be close to family. This hotel is clean, reasonable and the staff is very helpful and accommodating. The rooms have been recently updated, the mattress was a little too firm for us.

This hotel was converted to a Best Western about a year and a half ago and they have been phasing in upgrades since then. The room was very nicely appointed with a comfortable bed, nice linens and a remodeled bathroom. The breakfast offering was very hearty with eggs, sausage, potatoes, biscuits along with the standard yogurt, fruit and pastries. What made our stay especially nice were the super friendly staff, especially Torrence who checked us in. We have already made reservations to go back next week.

angelmarie772016, 19 Novembre 2016

Lovely room, great breakfast and service. Clean and comfortable. When we arrived staff was kind and friendly, they answered all our questions and made sure we knew where we needed to go. The room was clean and the best part was the bedding, very fresh and clean.

"Comfortable Lodging"
packing01, 14 Novembre 2016

This Inn is close to the County Court House and the John Muir Home. Close to Kaiser Hospital. Clean and quiet location. Many places to eat directly across the street. Warm cookies in after noon. Great Breakfast. Just off Highway 4.

"Sounds worse than it really is"
Felicia M, 10 Novembre 2016

I recently stayed here for a week; was here for work; and my stay was very good. I stayed in 2 different rooms during my stay; 132 King Bed loved it; but room 118 Double Beds, I would not recommend. This room was not as renovated as the once and is right outside the ice maker. Also, the windows are not sound proofed so I could hear the cars/trucks outside. Also, for some reason the guest on the 2nd floor seemed to walk around allll night (this was not a problem in the first room). The Staff however were GREAT/FRIENDLY/HELPFUL. I was concerned when reading other reviews of their being a strong smoke smell in the rooms, but I did not experience this at all. I loved that the rooms have a fridge that gets things really cold (so cold that it froze my guacamole :-)) and a microwave. There is also a movie theater across the street and a GREAT Italian restaurant, you have to get one of their Pear Tarts if you go. I only ate breakfast once, and it was good (the hot food) but make sure to check the expiration date on the pastries. It was too cold to use the pool, but its small and out front of the hotel; probably would not have used it if the weather was warm. The fitness room is also quite small, it did not look like more than 5 people could be in there at a time. Overall my stay was not that bad and i'd stay here again, especially if its for work as the price was kind of high during the week, and recommend it.

"grate stay"
Evita G, 08 Novembre 2016

everybody was very helpful and made my stay very pleasant i will be back. i work in the area during the weekends and i do not like having to go back and forth with my kids. i felt safe with my family there.

"Clean room, Good bed, Small room, Cold pool"
vernona438, 07 Novembre 2016

The room was a little small, but it was as clean as a whistle. Employees were polite, friendly and professional. Everything needed was there and my stay was comfortable. What would have been nice, though, is for the swimming pool to have been heated, as advertised on the In-Room information. It seems as though the people who own motels aren't people at all. They know the cost of everything & the value of nothing.

"Exceeded my expectations"
lb2me, 06 Novembre 2016

When checking in, I asked the staff to see if they had a razor available and she checked and when she did have a razor, she offered me if i needed anything else, toothpaste, shampoo, shaving cream, etc. Even though i did not need all these items, she really wanted to make sure that i had everything that i needed. The staff at this hotel were amazing. Always so helpful and went above and beyond to make sure we had items that we needed. They were also so friendly. The overnight staff were so kind that when we were eating breakfast, they passed by to say goodbye to us. We came back from a wedding and we gathered in the lobby and the front desk staff informed us there is coffee available and offered us water and cookies.

"Hotel was nice but service was the best"
sbarnz, 28 Octobre 2016

Arrived late and the desk clerk Ari made us a fresh pot of coffee. Rooms were clean and breakfast was as good as any restaurant. I want to give extra kudos to desk clerk Ari. I tried to print my return trip boarding pass but the printer was out of ink. We tried to forward it to the front desk but it wasn't going thru. She took it upon herself to call SW airlines and they sent the pass directly to the hotel. She printed it out and brought it to me when I was enjoying breakfast. She really goes the extra mile.

"Wheelchair access was dismal!!"
54charlem, 17 Octobre 2016

Wheelchair access was almost non-existent. Handicapped parking was also lacking. Staff was not friendly or sympathetic to the lack of a wheelchair accessible room even though my reservations were for an accessible room!

"Clean pleasant place"
Janice R, 10 Octobre 2016

This is our second time staying at the BWP in Martinez, we came back because we like this hotel and the area. The only glitch was the spa jets were barely working in the morning, and the pool, although advertised as heated, was ice cold. Other than that, we had a very pleasant stay, again.

"favorite place to stay in Martinez"
Dianne P, 29 Septembre 2016

Always a comfortable place to stay the night. The property is well cared for, caring staff and the breakfast is always good. This hotel is always my first choice when I stay in Martinez. It is centrally located and close to family.

"Martinez"
Savannah R, 29 Septembre 2016

I wasn't acknowledge when i first came to check in. I stood their for about 20 minutes because the person at the front desk kept answering phone calls. The room smelled like cigarettes when we requested a non smoking room. Our toilet was somewhat broken. Every time you sat on it, the toilet would fall forward an water would splash on you.

"Wonderful Best Western John Muir in Martinez"
Patricia G, 27 Septembre 2016

Clean, great location, friendly stuff, free breakfast, coffee maker in the room, fridge, reasonable price. For sure stay at this hotel if you are in Northern California. One of the best Best Western Hotel I ever stayed. Highly recommended

"Classic feel and very Welcoming "
Shay M, 26 Septembre 2016

Amazing hotel. Great food, and excellent customer service. One of the employees named Jeremy stood out to me the most. His energy can turn your frown upside down and he is very helpful and comforting to your needs. I don't know why he is not manager because he has the qualities of a positive, kind hearted team leader. My family is homeless so its nice to be treated with respect and to be taken care of with love. He his lovable personality is something you can't forget. -Shay

"Best Western Martinez, Ca"
Mike L, 22 Septembre 2016

Excellent value for the money. Very clean, great staff. Outstanding breakfast. About 15 minutes to nearest BART station, then a 45 minute ride into San Francisco. We would definitely stay here again. Many restaurants in the area.

"Great value"
NewIberia_laGbl, 18 Septembre 2016

Great motel...rooms a little smaller than most best western...seems a little older but kept up nicely...Employee Torin was so helpful & friendly!!!! Wish all hotels had great employees like him! Great breakfast & right across the street shopping area with nice little restaurants

"Great Motel in Martinez"
491prestone, 17 Septembre 2016

I find this is a great place to stay and a great value for the area. Close to Concord and Walnut Creek and their is a great grocery store across the street (Nob Hill). Clean rooms and a great staff make this a great place to stay if you are in the area.

"Good value, nice place"
Robert P, 17 Septembre 2016

It's an older motel but kept up. In a nice location. Right off the freeway, but not too close. Lots of trees and landscaping for a nice setting. Room was smallish but Best Western clean. Little touches like a water and Granola bar, toiletries with cotton balls and q-tips. Wifi was good. A very easy short walk across a not too busy street to a Grocery store, various restaurants, Starbucks and a Rite Aid. I even got a haircut across the street. Very convenient. The pool/spa area is small and located right next to the front entrance. Not my thing, but it might be for you. Didn't do the breakfast as I start work early. Nice that they had coffee at 3:30 AM. Will stay here again.

"John Muir Best Western"
maureenf343, 15 Septembre 2016

I like this motel, have stayed before. The breakfast is very good, great fresh eggs. During my stay there was some remodeling in progress, cant wait to see how it turns out. And they do have a nice pool and hot tub area. Unfortunately, I had scheduled laundry for this stay as they have a laundry room, but only one washer and dryer out of 2 each worked, so I had some issues getting my laundry done

"Inget att rekommendera "
Elin A, 11 Septembre 2016

So - my husband and I booked this hotel by accident. We really wanted a hotel closer to San Francisco, but it was late and we didn't have the energy to argue. So we drove there, happy to have somewhere so sleep. The staff was alright and we got our room and got to the second floor, and as soon as we got of the elevator we could smell the smoke. We had an non-smoking room but it was mixed with other smoking rooms, and that's how it was on all floors. We hoped our room would be free of the bitter smell, but it was almost worse, at least as bad. Everything REAKED of smoke, even the phone when we were going to call down and complain. BUT - the staff was really helpful here and we got to switch room without any problem, to the third floor were there was no smoke smell. So, this room was nice, except there was something wrong with the toilet during the night so we couldn't flush and the shower was really hard to turn on and off. The breakfast was alright. When we checked out and complained the staff were help full and when we signed up to the Best western club(?) they promised we would get points to give us one free night. Still waiting but it has only been two days and it could take up to one week. Since the staff was really helpful and everything worked out in the end, I will give this place two stars instead of one, even though I wouldn't dare to recommend it to someone who has some standard. The staff seemed to know that their hotel is below standard. OBS: se bild

"this is a review for Best Western, Martinez CAlifornia"
einsteinpoo, 10 Septembre 2016

We spent the night at the Best Western in Martinez. We were hours late due to the problems and delays of AMTRACK. Mr. Jeremy greeted us at the front dest. He was friendly, professional, accommodating regarding our lack of food since lunch and the time we checked in was around 1 a.m. Jeremy is the BEST employee that I have ever encountered in all of my travels. I have traveled in Europe and America. He is 5-star!

"Peaceful...."
Grandsbaby, 07 Septembre 2016

The staff is always great, they treat you very well and it's my daycation place. I'm sure you you really like it here. Accessible to the interstate leading to great shopping, amusement parks and wineries.

"Nice staff; Accommodations are not "Plus"; Pets Permitted"
Heather A, 06 Septembre 2016

The hotel staff was lovely - very nice and helpful. Resolved the one issue I had with reserving a 2 king suite at a higher rate. When I went up to room, we did not have kings (actually had 2 queens) and told that they had taken all kings out due to complaints. They adjusted my bill and corrected the rate. This is NOT a Best Western Plus - yes you get a little bottle of water and some popcorn as well as some upgraded toiletries, but this is more on par with a Comfort Inn or Quality Inn. Little things (like room phone broken) and water facets backwards are throughout. Even though it was advertised as a 'suite' these are not suites. You have a chair, desk, fridge and sink in a corner, but it is one room. While they do permit pets, if you have allergies, I HIGHLY recommend you DO NOT stay here. My sister was living on benedryll and had a reaction to what we are guessing was the room or hallways.

"Softball stay"
softballmom27, 05 Septembre 2016

It was a nice hotel the cookies that they baked were very good. I also liked having the free breakfast thing. It was also in a very convenient spot. Great customer service. The beds were very comfortable.

"Great place"
289brycea, 04 Septembre 2016

Great hotel. Good location for my business. High quality breakfast available early and until 9:30 am. Rooms recently renovated and always clean. I have been staying here for about 15 years as I travel frequently to the bay area.

"Quick stop in Martinez"
triptipdan, 03 Septembre 2016

Stopped at the BW John Muir on way to Napa with the family. Pretty much got what we were expecting, pool, wifi, etc. got some cookies at the front desk, and breakfast was nice too. Thanks for making our stay enjoyable!

"Good hotel "
Maribel O, 01 Septembre 2016

"convenient to SF"
kevin b, 01 Septembre 2016

Nice place, clean, good breakfast. Easy walk to shopping/dining across the street . Easy drive to BART station to take you into SF instead of driving/parking in the city (recommend). overall , very good location to base from for day trips in the area !

"Quite cozy and comfortable"
jilliaaan, 30 Août 2016

We arrived late but were met with a smile and great customer service. The elevator and hallways smelled like smoke which had me worried. However, once inside the room the smell was gone and the room itself was quite comfy. It looked to be recently remodeled which was nice and there was a complimentary cookie and water on the table. Unfortunately the bathroom outlet was broken so I had to use the living room outlet for the hairdryer but overall it was a clean, cozy room.

"Best Western John Muir"
Charolette F, 29 Août 2016

The Best Western John Muir has been upgrading and improving both the grounds, front lobby and both wings of rooms. The beds that have been replaced are much more comfortable. It can be alittle noisy from visitors to freeway closeness. Overall the maintenance and housekeeping keep the rooms and grounds very clean. The front desk people have better training, appearance, and service to visitors.

"2 night business trip"
wjgal, 29 Août 2016

I wanted to stay in a hotel in Martinez with a fitness center. The BW John Muir fit the bill - small but adequate, with an EFX, recumbent bike, treadmill and pulley weight station. Overall, the hotel was old but quaint. My room was clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated. It's the only hotel I've stayed in recently where the Windows actually open! Front desk is manned 24 hours and the staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

"strictly for Chevron or Shell Contractros"
MatthewL600, 27 Août 2016

No security of any kind for lots or property. Breakfast will get you going for the day. Overall best feature bed was extremely comfortable, but according to night clerk only on third floor because they are new.

"Incredible Value"
Kathryn W, 19 Août 2016

I travel to this area relatively frequently for work. This hotel has all the amenities I'm looking for: internet, good breakfast, in room fridge/freezer/microwave, and gym. The rooms are very nice and well maintained. It is an incredible value!

"Decent Motel"
Chris1963, 17 Août 2016

The room was clean and comfortable. Very busy front counter but check-in and check-out were handled efficiently. Bathroom smelled of bleach so I know they clean. A word of advice...in rooms with 2 king beds, they are not ADA compliant. The first bed in the door had 6 inches of space between it and the entry wall forcing you to squeeze your way into the room.

"Recommended"
ADOLF M, 16 Août 2016

clean and quality service. good hotel service, me and my family had a good time in this calm enviroment. The breakfast was awsome and varieties to sellect. I will defintely recoment this place for any one visiting the area.

"Very old inside"
Rebecca F, 12 Août 2016

Very old inside. Some of the staff was very rude and not helpful. Acted bothered by questions. Key card system down and had to be escorted to my room every time I left it. Frustrating waiting for everyone to be taken to their room.

"run down hotel"
andreasbY5432OU, 12 Août 2016

This hotel is completely run down. The receptionist is very unfriendly and unhelpful. Breakfast is lower standard. very loud rooms with low insulation against the noise of the highway. To top it off: guests do not get personal room keys - the hotel does not have a machine to produce them! each time you want to get into your room you need to tell a cleaning staff or the receptionist to open your door! without any security or check!! very unsafe!

"Excellent Staff"
kayokayo, 09 Août 2016

We (my husband and I) stayed two nights at this Best Western and our stay was very comfortable and pleasant. Parking is free and on site. Pro's: The room was very clean and had a fridge and microwave, ironing board, iron and blow dryer. The breakfast was great--combination of cold and hot breakfast foods, fruit, juice and coffee which were all satisfying. The hotel staff were cheerful, pleasant, and approachable. They were helpful in advising of local sights and it was conveniently located near the freeway for easy access to nearby areas. We forgot one of our toothbrushes and the front desk clerk was helpful in giving us a compementary toothbrush and toothpaste. Coffee was always available and I was happy to see a decaf option. We used the hot tub spa on site and enjoyed it thoroughly. Across the street is a great movie theater and we saw a movie in the most comfortable reclining seats. We will definitely come back! Con's: Not too many! Breakfast was a little crowded when we went down, but when I returned 30 minutes later to freshen my coffee, there weren't very many folks, so it seemed like the rush was gone. And it was still well stocked. The housekeeping staff didn't restock the toiletries (soap, lotion, etc) for our second day and didn't restock the in-room coffee. These were small things that we didn't realize until we were showering before leaving and really didn't have too much time to address with the front desk staff. We'll be back!

"One night stay hotel"
Jason G, 08 Août 2016

Before I sound too harsh, let me mention I am a hotels.com Gold member with over 90 nights in the last 13 months. I am also a Gold member of Best Western Rewards for the bookings I do direct. The majority of my hotel stays have been at Best Western properties for multi night stays. I booked this room through hotels.com as it was a free night using my rewards. I chose the most expensive room option to maximize my rewards voucher: 2 King beds with a minibar. Upon arrival at 3pm checkin, The front desk clerk begin the check in process with swiping my credit card for deposit then proceeds to tell me that the room isn't available yet! This was a large hotel with minimal guests based on the cars in the lot. After almost 2 hours of driving I was a bit annoyed by that because she couldn't even tell me how long. I asked for a phone call, but after 50 minutes I walked back in and was informed the room was now ready. This is an early 80s built hotel with only one elevator directly in front of the checkin desk and the rooms are a bit small. I was thinking this room layout would be a bit more like a suite based on the price and "minibar" description. A recent renovation took place with new carpet and paint in the halls and rooms, but some parts of the rooms were left neglected, like the restroom, which felt very budget motel in appearance. The room was clean and the morning breakfast was better than other Best Western locations. The exercise room is small and limited. Modern soda machines on each level which appear to accept credit cards a snack vending machine on the first floor. Pool and spa looked lovely but sat near the entrance. Overall, the price for this place isn't bad for the area, hotel is very quiet and large, but it's showing signs of age and the rooms are too small for me to want to return. Breakfast staff were friendly.

"John Muir in the pines"
vicki m, 08 Août 2016

Location is great, cinemas across the street and good eats. Staff is great and room was throughly cleaned. Hotel is old and could use some updating. The tub and shower needed fixing, wouldn't hold water and shower had no pressure.

"Last minute change of plans lead us to this great establishment"
David K, 07 Août 2016

Due to a last minute change of plans, my family had to quickly find another place to stay for night in the San Francisco area. This hotel came through with excellent service, great beds, and a very generous breakfast. Would highly recommend it to anyone.

"Not up to the standard of a Best Western"
lydia h, 07 Août 2016

Not a place to stay. But, does have some good points such as the breakfast and the very professional housekeeping staff. No safety bars in showers and very awful space in bathroom area. Better be pretty thin to find room to use it!

"Not unpleasant"
llibecurb, 05 Août 2016

This pet-friendly hotel is conveniently located for visiting the East Bay area. The hotel staff was pleasant and accommodating; the complementary breakfast offered healthy options and was well-stocked. Although the housekeeping staff did a very nice job maintaining the room, this hotel is showing its age; for example, it was very difficult to get the shower fixture to work properly, and the shower water stream was weak. My only complaint ... our requested wake-up call was 20 minutes late on our departure day!

"Welcoming and Friendly"
BARBARA E, 05 Août 2016

Room was comfortable. Lobby and personnel were clean and welcoming. Room was quite. Everything worked. Other guests smiled when we passed in the hall. Easy access to the freeway. Although I did not make use of the exercise room, there were people using it and it was not crowded.

"great stay"
fungwil, 25 Juillet 2016

we were in the area for a baseball tournament. room was clean. breakfast was good. price was right. most important, it wasn't overflowing with other baseball players. otherwise, it would have been a nightmare. close to the market...close to the theater.

"Always Welcoming"
Denise S, 11 Juillet 2016

I love Martinez and visit it often as I have friends there. This hotel is where I always stay. The rooms are comfortable and just right for 2. When checking in on our last trip, the night clerk, Fabby, was having a problem explaining the room keys to an Asian lady that didn't speak English, but Fabby remained calm and patient and got the issue solved. She made sure she recognized us during the issue and apologized for the wait. This is just one example of how great the staff always is. My only negative I can say is that some of the halls do have a cigarette smoke odor, but it fades when arriving at the no smoking rooms. It could use an upgrade in the carpet. The area is very quiet and peaceful.

"Excellent"
Daniel S, 11 Juillet 2016

Thank you so much for all your attencion. my co workers are very grapeful, next time we are stay in this hotel. all the service is excellent . location is perfect for business, couples, family time etc.

"Nice hotel with a few issues"
Englishsnob, 10 Juillet 2016

Hotel met our needs for a short family trip. Room was very small for our family, but we weren't going to be there long, so we made it work. Breakfast was great and the front lobby is very nice. Only two problems: the biggest being, the housekeeping staff did not clean our room after we left for the day (and we did remove the DND sign from the door). We ran out of towels and toilet paper and had to go downstairs when we got back at 9 PM to get more. Second, the flyer in our room said the pool was open until 11 PM but it was locked up at 10 PM. The front desk clerk was nice enough to let us in after we told him this. Seems there are some kinks and discrepancies that need to be worked out, but we would consider staying here again if we had a larger room.

"Quiet and Quaint"
Donna J, 04 Juillet 2016

Very nice place to stay. Friendly staff and clean rooms. There is a small pool. The room included breakfast, and free internet. It was also easy to find from Highway 4. I would definitely stay there again. There is also shopping and food choices right across the street.

"Don't know why they don't have a better rating "
anthonysT7447HR, 01 Juillet 2016

My opinion... I been staying in a different hotel every week for work and this place was great. Outside was around a lot of trees had a shopping center across the street also a movie theater on the other side of the street and a chevron gas station on the other corner and next to the 4 freeway. I walked in a was greeted nicely and checked in right away. Nice sit down area as well as a conference room as well. The room was very nice and clean came with a refrigerator and microwave, bed and pillows were very comfortable not one problem. The only down side was on the restroom door it had a patch up job done on it when it would of looked better just replacing the door. Breakfast served early for early risers and it goes on for awhile. They had omelette, toast, bagels, donuts, sausage, bacon, oatmeal, cereal and etc. I feel this place should have a better rating then the one they have. I've stayed in 4 star hotels that were not nice like this place. But this is only my opinion on my room 137. Also the front desk people were excellent they even helped me find a great place for dinner.

"Awesome visit!"
TimnTay, 01 Juillet 2016

The staff at this hotel were all awesome! They were friendly, helpful, polite, greeted us every time they saw us or members of our group. Always with smiles on their faces. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Quiet, except for the few loud guests occasionally in the hallway. Internet was very good too.

"great service"
Julie B, 28 Juin 2016

We travel often to vend at shows. In the past we have tried other hotels but now never even consider other hotel chains. The quality of the rooms, the staff & the (included) breakfast make weary traveler feel like we've come home to mammas house. This hotel in particular, is the best among the best.

"Great value and very helpful staff"
Jerry E, 27 Juin 2016

My daughter and I were visiting Berkeley for a university tour and due to several special events in the area, hotels in Berkeley and surrounding cities were a hard find. We used several websites to find a room, but in the end, we called the Best Western Plus John Muir Inn and spoke directly with a front desk employee. The available rooms were on the higher end, but he suggested various discount programs (AARP and AAA) and we got a great room at a very fair price.

"My stay "

I stayed at this hotel for 1 night it was welcoming , friendly, I would come here again , The breakfast was amazing I left here happy pools area was clean hotel was very clean . I would recommend this hotel .

"Martinez business trip"
thadseiler, 24 Juin 2016

I stayed a couple of nights mid week for a business trip...Good location! Nice clean and quiet rooms...Conveniently close (walking distance) to grocery store and a few restaurants... Even a Starbucks... I will stay again next trip to this region...

"I'll be coming back"
herpdoc, 22 Juin 2016

First time to the area, and looking around for a place that I can come back to (for business). Came across this on-line, and it had decent reviews. The price was in the budget, so I thought, "Well, if it sucks, I just won't come again"... It was a nice surprise. No, it's not the Hilton, but it's clean, functional, and quiet. The beds are good and the pillows a bit thick. AC works nicely (it's plenty hot outside) and there are a number of guests but I really can't tell. Most of all, the staff is amazing. Probably the best I've seen in a mid-range stay. Attentive, helpful, friendly and overall great. Anything I've needed, they've made sure I had. Even down to fresh cream for the coffee. Breakfasts are average, but have fresh fruit and decent coffee- I'm happy. I'll be back next month.

"Hotel Recommendation"
Nancy S, 21 Juin 2016

We have stayed at this Best Western Plus John Muir Inn, Martinez, CA several times. It is convenient and easy for us to get to SF for a yearly appointment. There is a nice pool and hot tub and outside sitting area. The complementary breakfast is good and very satisfying - several options to choose from. We would recommend you consider a stay at this location.

"Everything was wonderful. "
RSI-Chris, 16 Juin 2016

I come out to this area multiple times a year but up until this visit I've never tried this location. It did not disappoint at all! There is a movie theater across the street! Couple of stores, some fast food, a Starbucks. We arrived and were just in time for the fresh cookies too!

"Good, but..."
C2H5OHFresno_CA, 13 Juin 2016

The room was fine. Everything was "fine". But, the property has all the hallmarks of an older property that has been "remodeled" but still has some hidden limitations. Parking is extremely limited. Sound insulation is limited to the point that you're going to hear normal convestions from next door. Prices are high in this area. The room rates at this property are very competitive for this area.

"Relaxing place to hang out and unwind after Six Flags Vallejo"
Catabear1, 05 Juin 2016

The room and hotel was clean and quiet. Very friendly and helpful staff. Enjoyed my visit and did not have to pay Napa Wine Country prices. They offered smoking rooms which was a total perk for my husband. Good Restaurant options, Movie Theater and Starbucks were a short walk away.

"Good location, bad hotel"
Sheri P, 03 Juin 2016

Heating system didn't work. I found the reset button on the power cord and got it working. TV didn't work. There was no compensation for the nonworking television. Loud screaming, yelling, running in hallway in the middle of the night. Bathroom extremely small with no counter space what so ever.

"Not Your Typical Best Western"
Gabriela B, 03 Juin 2016

The room was small, presentation of bed was not as nice as other Best Westerns, price was too high for the tiny room and the inferior bathroom. No room to put down your toiletries and not remodeled. I was charged $129 for the night. It was way overpriced considering I felt like I was staying at a motel 6. The staff was great, the breakfast was awesome but the room was a disappointment.

"Quiet & Perfect"
Estrella G, 31 Mai 2016

During a holiday trip to Napa, all the hotels were booked and we decided to try this hotel in Martinez. I could not be more pleased. The hotel was clean, the room was quiet. And the drive allowed us to see new places in the area.

"Best Western John Muir"
Mark S, 24 Mai 2016

Nice hotel with good location for Martinez, Concord and Pleasant Hill. Close to Highway 4, which can be noisy if staying on the north side of the hotel. Dogs allowed with a fee. Rooms have nice décor and good beds. Cookies and free paper at the lobby.

"Excellent Hotel"
WilsonGotro, 20 Mai 2016

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. It is conveniently located, clean and attractive, with friendly and helpful staff, and reasonably priced. We came to Martinez to visit the John Muir National Historic Site, which was excellent. We had a great meal at a local restaurant. TV coverage was spotty, but so what. Highly recommended.

"Lovely getaway in Martinez"
Janice R, 18 Mai 2016

Staff were great here, especially Torin. The hallways and our room were a bit smaller than I expected, and there was a very heavy odor of cigarette smoke in the hallway, but we did not smell it in our room; everything in the room was clean (except for a small clump of hair in the bathtub); 24/7 coffee and great water jug with fresh fruit in it in the lobby. We liked the jacuzzi spa; the pool did not feel heated, and was a bit smallish, but should be great when the weather heats up. The shopping center across the street had everything we needed - Raley's, Kinders good quality bbq, sports bar/restaurant, nail salon. In the room the fridge and microwave and tv all worked fine. The pillows were lumpy and mattress was not top notch, but it was fine.

"Pretty clean and spacious"
ttotsis, 16 Mai 2016

The hotel has gone through some renovations and I believe the company they contracted should have been fired. They did a lousy job and it is evident in the tiling in the bathroom of our room. Other than that, the room was nice and clean with a nice big bathroom. Quiet and spacious. Friendly service and nice breakfast.

"Average"
Annalina G, 06 Mai 2016

Rooms were decent for the rate, however hallways smelled of smoke and Marijuana and a lot of traffic hanging out front drinking. Staff very unprofessional.Besides the rooms being nice the fireplace area was also comforting other than that BLAH....

"Positive Review"
Charolette F, 03 Mai 2016

BW Plus John Muir has been upgrading all amenities of the facility. The rooms, hallways, lobby have been given a fresh facelift. The staff have had additional training on professional, proper appearance, behavior and treatment of guest. Housekeeping have improved the time spent to clean and sanitize the rooms and hallways. The pool and Jacuzzi are better maintained.

"Great hotel!"
Kaelah R, 23 Avril 2016

Loved staying at this hotel, my boyfriend and I were treated with the utmost respect and were given great customer service. We plan to visit Martinez more and stay at this exact hotel for there comfy beds and breakfast

"Business in Martinez"
Stefon T, 22 Avril 2016

I have stayed at this Hotel on a couple of different occasions and would do so again. The location is great there are a lot of services near by and plenty of food choices just across the street and a pretty cool sports bar.. The hotel and staff are the best.. I had a bit of a problem and I called the hotel manager a couple day's after my stay (I wish I could remember her name) She could not have been nicer, I have no doubt that the issue was resolved quickly. I will definitely stay here again.

"Good place to stay"
Lemuel T, 21 Avril 2016

My stay at this hotel was very good. The employees were very helpful. Two employees (Daisy and Tory) were especially helpful when they gave me additional points for my inconvenience of them not being able to fix the stopper in my tub. This inconvenience in no way took away from the good experience I had from staying at the hotel.

"Great Stay!"
Nicole B, 14 Avril 2016

Everything was great at this hotel. It's nice to get great service, a clean home away from home at a good rate! Can't beat it. Thank you Martinez Best Western! I would recommend this hotel and will come again when I'm in town for business or pleasure.

"Not a good experience!"
MinhajAliKhan, 11 Avril 2016

I had called up this place directly and specifically requested an ADA room. I was promised that it would be available to me. I had also informed them that I was allergic to smoke and did not want a room on their smoking floor. When I arrived to check in I was told that there was no ada room available despite the fact that A commitment had been given to me. The person ar the reception was very helpful and all she could really do was to offer me one of their rooms on the first floor which had not been refurbished. It was not a pleasant stay. The only reason I opted to stat there was because it was very conveniently located to where I had to go for my meeting. I don't think I will want to stay here again

"Review"
Erin B, 05 Avril 2016

Clean the rooms more, looks clean but smells terrible. Also, the check-in took about 20 minutes, the check-in host didn't apologize for his absence. He seemed more annoyed that additional people had reservations to check-in to their rooms!

"John Muir Best western Inn Evaluation."
Carolyn F, 04 Avril 2016

The staff and and the room was excellent. The breakfast was very good. I slept ton the side near the freeway, and so it was to noisy. Other than that it was great. It is a good location if you spend more than the evening as it is near Nob Hill and CVS. You should ask to get an odd room number because that is the side that is away from the freeway.

"Always a great stay"
Laurie B, 04 Avril 2016

My family stays at this Best Western several times a year. The rooms are always clean, staff is friendly. The newly remodeled rooms are very comfortable for the Price. The location is convenient for our needs. Many places to eat close by. The complimentary breakfast is a plus.

"Stay was nice."
TaylorJN, 23 Mars 2016

Staff was nice overall with our stay. However I would like to point out that I was shocked by one of the staff who checked us in.... When I've stayed at other Best Western's with my employee discount they always ask for the Best Western Authorization form.. and when we checked in... They didn't even ask for it, and never asked for the cc.. They only asked for I.D. I thought that was super strange. I will point out that the front desk staff was very attentive and friendly, however the gentleman who checked us in didn't really seem like he enjoyed his job because he wasn't very friendly on a couple of occasions with me. Overall our stay wasn't bad, the breakfast was great, the room was nice, and we were close to everything located in hotel.

"Yes! Stay Here!"
Sarah V, 20 Mars 2016

The reviews were not very sunny, but I booked anyway. I grew up in Martinez, and always wanted to stay at the John Muir Inn. Boy am I glad I did! I traveled with my 3 teens and they even had a great time there! Internet was great too. Man... The breakfast was awesome as well!

"Loved It"
Charlene Hilary M, 17 Mars 2016

VA discount, as my husband was in the hospital, Very nice property, staff, cleanliness, convient to resturants, stores, freeway access etc. Cant say enough good things. Bed was so comfortable! Hot tub was hot. Jets worked great. Rare in my traveling experiences.

"Nice hotel and very pleasant staff"
lisaoW2705YV, 06 Mars 2016

I would have given this facility 5 stars accept the bathtub plug didn't work. The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The gym was small, but very clean. They could have had a bigger breakfast spread. Still, it was pleasant. We were very pleased with our stay. The next time we need to get away we will be choosing this hotel again.

"Needs attention"
picksomething, 29 Février 2016

Good location, nice to have free parking with convenient shopping center across the street. However, this is a marginal property and definitely is NOT a Best Western PLUS by any stretch of the imagination (we are Diamond member so know BW properties very well). The quality and workmanship of their ongoing remodel is marginal at best (toilet loose, cement on door threshold, cement splattered on bathroom wall, crooked towel bar, loose tub faucet, new carpet already fraying, old smoke smell in room, no screen on window to allow in fresh air, bed headboard wood chipped and marked up, room not that clean, room door didn't close without forcing it. Breakfast is so-so although not bad.

"Place to Stary before Eye Surgery"
George P, 18 Février 2016

We needed a place to stay before eye surgery. This Motel was just .7 miles from the operating facility. The service was Excellent. The place is under modernization and was kind of messy. Our room had just been freshly painted and there was a odor from the paint. Other than that, everything was great.

"Work Week Away From Home"
EEugene, 18 Février 2016

Firstly, the service was excellent. When I called to tell them of the leftover wake-up call, the inoperative hair dryer, and the permanently low desk chair action was immediate and corrective. The wake-up call was removed, the wall-mounted hair dryer was replaced with a new one in a bag and the old desk chair was replaced with a brand new needs-to be assembled (not by me) one. The hotel rooms were being remodeled when I was there but the work was not intrusive. The property is across the road from Nob Hill Foods, CVS, Starbucks and a movie theater just to name a few. Very good breakfast each morning.

"worth the money"
123tbham, 18 Février 2016

This motel is geared up for the business traveler and refinery worker. Breakfast was excellent and staff super. No problems with parking. No problems with anything in the room. Nearby stores for shopping. Next to Hwy 4. Everything was good, even during construction over the holidays.

"John Muir Inn Best Western"
Brent H, 17 Février 2016

This hotel is decent for the price in its location. There are a lot of near by amenities within walking distance. Currently the hotel is undergoing renovations and with that is a lot of noise. The finished rooms exhibit really poor craftsmanship and most things would not meet code for plumbing, the hot and cold are backwards in every room i stayed in and there is nor warm water, its either too hot or too cold. The electrical and the dry wall jobs are terrible, as in third world quality. If your not staying on the third floor which is the top floor, expect to hear people stomping on the floor above you all night. The staff is nice and the food is ok.

"Six Flags- Preferred"
PAGO-Too, 16 Février 2016

Martinez is a lovely, quiet, oasis just fifteen minutes away from Six Flags. As it turned out, the properties close to Six Flags were sold out for the President's/Valentines Weekend. So a search turned up this unsung jewel. So glad we found it. The Inn is located about 1/4 mile from the Martinez Amtrak station and the historic John Muir mansion. My son has autism and my measure of a staff's quality is how quickly and how well a staff differentiates their approach to my son's needs. This staff did quite well and I was pleasantly surprised, since it seems that many of the guests work in the oil industry.

"Find something else, this one sucks!"
doru dumitru s, 12 Février 2016

Guys, if you want: - to be automatically checked out of the hotel, although your reservation is for a few more days, - to be charged extra for a room you never booked, - to beg again and again for a manager to look into your charges, - to ask for receipts you never got for the charges and not get them, - to email at the address posted on their website and realize that email address doesn't exist, then, go for it. Otherwise, keep your distance from this filthy, customer unfriendly, totally unprofessional business. All of the above happened to me. If you want details, contact me at dumitru.d.sarpe@ca.abb.com

"John Muir"
Linda L, 11 Février 2016

This hotel is under construction but that did not interfere with our stay - we got a new room and it was wonderful. The location is very convenient because it is off a major highway. It was very easy to get to the BART - train system going in and out of San Francisco.

"No improvement"
mjvega, 08 Février 2016

This was a second chance for what was once a great place to stay. It appears there must be new owners or new management and they don't really care about the building, the service, the food, or customers. We'll be staying in Concord the next time we pass through the area.

"Business trip"
Bryce A, 07 Février 2016

Great location for me to do business in the Bay Area. Too pricey for the product offered. Breakfast service and staff are excellent. Fox News not offered in TV channel lineup. .Rooms have small bathrooms with not a lot of counter space. Internet did not always function properly.

"Great Breakfast spread"
joya474, 05 Février 2016

Not the place to stay right now if you are not into the halls all being covered with wrap to protect during remodelling. The breakfast was great value if you have a big appetite. The price for one night was decent.

"Fair"
Cynthia H, 02 Février 2016

An OK place to stay for business, wouldn't vacation here. Some good restaurants within walking distance. Needs better parking lot security at night, my trucks were ok but another contractor I was working with had items tampered with and or stolen.

"Under Construction"
Lucas W, 26 Janvier 2016

Stayed for a months duration at this hotel as they were under construction. The first few days were not bad. After a few days, the construction came closer and closer to my room. They start at about 8AM, and the workers are very loud and inconsiderate. I worked nights, 7 days a week 13 hours a day. I had to call the front desk multiple times to request they move locations so I could try to sleep. Two days in a row they worked on the rooms on either side of me, which was miserable. I feel the construction could have been better planned, or zoned off as to not effect the customers, especially considering there were multiple guests that were also working a similar nights schedule as myself. I requested a fridge and microwave three times, as my reservation stated that they were included with the room, and never received one. The clothes dryers were broken on multiple occasions. The shower rods are curved, and the bathtub/shower unit was not. This caused an unbelievable amount of water to get on the floor when the shower was used. This was a very unpleasant experience for me.

"Congratulations"
Charolette F, 09 Janvier 2016

Congratulations on huge improvements to facilities and staff. Owners, and Management need to feel and extend the compliments to all the staff. The John Muir BWP in Martinez, CA is a better professional and welcoming hotel. Close to freeways for access to Northern California visitor locations and business.

"Disappointed this stay."
A4889BIdavidk, 26 Décembre 2015

Nice new carpet. Nice new floors. Very disappointed that staff did not resolve clogged toilet for two night stay. Maid service comes to room too early (8:10 AM). Too much hallway conversation by employees.

"Under construction"
mjvega, 20 Décembre 2015

There were a few problems in our newly renovated room, but the staff was very responsive. We ended up very pleased and will stay here again. The new beds are very comfy, the wifi was fast and consistent.

"Cannot go wrong"
123tbham, 20 Décembre 2015

Great value, especially for refinery workers. Very comfortable and super location. Breakfast is early and good. You cannot go wrong, should check this one out. Parking is good too, and stores are directly across the street if you forgot any thing.

"Staff NICE but POOR Management"
Michelle R R, 16 Décembre 2015

Positives: Very nice staff: front desk clerk, housekeeping, breakfast room. They appear to care about the patrons personally. Bed was comfortable. Hotel is in a good location close to freeway, stores, and near neighborhoods so the hotel is convenient for family visits. Owners seem to know the hotel is run down, so they are putting in new carpet. Average breakfast is offered. They accept pets overnight. Negatives: Management lacks customer service skill and motivation; they are lacking in attention to detail and don't appear to take pride in the property. Management is not present to support the staff during key times (i.e. during checkout) and staff does not know how to fix little issues that arise, hence they become big issues. The staff is not trained properly nor empowered to solve everyday situations to improve the customer experience. It does not seem there are well established procedures for staff to follow. There was incorrect accounting on our bill, so make sure you are not overcharged. The hotel is VERY overpriced given the quality. Cigarette smoke residue fills every floor, even the "non smoking" floors smell like smoke. Filthy carpeting in the common hallways. Trashcans are overflowing with discarded food containers outside the hotel as there are not enough cans. Parking spots are so small that patrons need to park in two spots, thus making parking an issue. I'm not certain what makes a hotel BEST WESTERN. The only advantage I can see is that a customer earns points for a free stay, otherwise Best Western appears to simply be an organization to help with reservations and manage the rewards points program. Best Western does not appear to uphold standards. I think the Best Western Corporation is riding on name recognition and doesn't really need to provide strong quality control. Seems to me if the individual hotel owners pay a fee to be a member of Best Western, then Best Western should demonstrate stronger support and help struggling properties, not just allow them to flounder and create angry customers. John Muir Inn has potential, they need management training and some property renovation. The two biggest revelations after staying at John Muir Inn: The name Best Western doesn't mean much. The other huge thing I leaned is that second hand smoke is still allowed in California Hotels. Second hand smoke... it just doesn't seem right, I thought there were laws against this.

"Needs a major upgrade"
Chili C, 02 Décembre 2015

The water was shut off for the first 3 hours of my stay with no warning. Towel racks literally fell apart when removing a towel. Towels in the room so old they disintegrated when used. Furniture in room is stained and old. Nice staff, but someone needs to put some money into the rooms to update the carpet and furniture. Better places around for the same money or less.

"Reservations incorrect"
MDC C, 28 Novembre 2015

when I booked the room, I specifically requested an ADA room with roll in shower since I am in a wheel chair for showers. When I arrived the staff told me that the reservations did not state my request so therefore they had no such room for me. I was given a regular room with 2 queen size beds. I could not get the wheel chair into the room, so therefore I did without it. No problem at all with the staff, they were very professional and courteous

"Loose doors and bad floors"
Brian J, 28 Novembre 2015

This site needs a major make over. Old site - with bad floors, carpeting and doors that don't close (out of line). Major construction in and out of the motel. Parking lot was also a mess with paint stains and construction materials all over the place.

"It Got Better"
Malenggay, 16 Novembre 2015

Reserved a 2 King Bed Room only to be told at arrival that the internet booking messed up and I only had a 2 Double Bed Room. Raised a ruckus (had my printed confirmation with me) but no dice...got a 2 Queen room instead after much finagling. The crew change helped, Marlene took the time to understand our concerns and managed to get us the 2 Kind Bed room halfway through our 5 night stay. KUDOS to Marlene! The hotel was undergoing a much needed renovation so the stay was so-so...rooms are in desperate need of said renovation - just our luck to get both rooms pre-renovation. SIGH. Wi-fi is spotty depending on where your room is located. Convenient to a strip mall with restaurants, grocery, pharmacy, ATM and a movie theater across the street.

"In need of re-model and security"
Michael S, 12 Novembre 2015

Spent 3 nights at this hotel, the first night was in a horrible room that we were later told should not have even been rented. A bloody fight occurred on our floor and loud drunks and non-guests kept us up most of the night. The next morning when I complained they did move us to a different room which was somewhat cleaner, everything worked and was on a different floor. I think the staff cares but is overwhelmed with problems.

"There is better lodging elsewhere"
Kemp M, 08 Novembre 2015

Simply stay away. Its not what you would expect from a BW and certainly not a Plus. Property seems to cater to workers from the oil industry which may be the contributing factor to the obvious presence of smoke odor, stains, worn furniture, and general depressive look of the hallway areas leading to the rooms because it is unlikely that these hard working individuals are actually spending their own money to stay at this property.

"Thin walls and doors make for a noisy stay"
mikegrattan, 02 Novembre 2015

Overall, this is a clean hotel with friendly staff. Unfortunately, we were in a room that was next door to guests who were having some type of domestic dispute that got super loud at midnight, 12:30, 1 a.m., 2 a.m., etc. throughout the night. The noise level seemed to be amplified by the lack of insulation in the walls, and the very thin doors. We called the front desk several times, they finally sent someone down to knock on their door because they were refusing to answer their phone. They also refused to answer the door. I told the front desk if they couldn't handle the situation and get the Noisy Couple to quiet down, we would like a different room. They said they would have something available if we wanted to move. However, moving rooms in the middle of the night is just as disruptive to your sleep as listening to the Noisy Couple; and they seemed to be quieting down after their phone rang and their door was knocked upon. So we decided to stay in the room. It was fine for a while, they were still talking but not as loudly, so we finally fell asleep. Then they started up again around 2:30. Another phone call, more knocking, and they quieted down again. Rough night. Considering the volume and the context of their arguments, it probably would have been a good idea for the front desk to just call the police and let them handle it.

"Excellent Staff"
Y6176SBchristineh, 18 Octobre 2015

I have stayed here many times and for extended times. The service of staff is always excellent. The hotel is in the middle of a needed renovation. The staff is top notch. I always get excellent service with true compassion. The breakfast has a good variety to choose from and the breakfast staff is outstanding. Sorry that they took the Tip Jar away. They work their butts off and always are attentive.

"Terrible"
David V, 11 Octobre 2015

Worst Best Western I've ever stayed at. Dirty, Overpriced and the staff could care less if you like it or not. This is coming from a Best Western diamond member. I stay at various Best Western sites over 90 nights per year. Do not stay here. Terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible.

"great experience"
Victoria Y, 11 Octobre 2015

The times I've stayed at his hotel, it has always clean and the staff I have interacted with have always been courteous, professional and helpful. This hotel will always be my first choice whenever I need a room in this area. I've tried two other hotels in Martinez and both were dirty and the service was poor and their prices were about the same as this hotel.

"Better stay than reviews"
Susan J, 09 Octobre 2015

One of my insurance companies set me up here during a 3 day training...most Concord hotels were booked. I was not expecting much from the reviews I read, but was pleasantly surprised. Yes, the smoking rooms are right across the hall from nonsmoking rooms, but my ns room was scent free... yes, the hotel carpets need upgrading....but, I must say that the room was dated, but adequate. Mid week nights were quiet, bed comfortable, room tidy and clean - and, the breakfast had lots of good choices and plenty of food. Front desk was accommodating, even when busy. Many construction guys stay there, I noticed, but all were polite and quiet. Not a 5? place, but more than adequate.

"Terrible Customer Care"
Cheryl5454, 08 Octobre 2015

This motel still allows smoking in certain rooms which contaminates the remaining rooms & hallways with cigarette smoke. My 2-bed room was small, & the bathroom was barely large enough to move in. And those are the good points of the motel. The front desk was only staffed with one person per shift & that person was frequently overwhelmed & cranky. I left my brand new swimsuit in a drawer upon my departure & my aunt immediately went to the motel to get it. But it mysteriously disappeared- hope that dishonest housekeeper enjoys it! I will NEVER stay at this motel again when I'm in town working.

"Needs lots of maintenance"
robininfresno, 05 Octobre 2015

We booked 4 rooms together as a group and we were put on 3 different floors instead of being together. In one room the bathroom door would not latch shut, in another there was a strong smell of cigarettes. There were cigarette burns on the furniture. Breakfast was OK, but there was not near enough tables to eat at. My husbands has a group home and were taking our staff and guys to 6 flags. All the hotels in the area were booked so we took what we could get. The area itself was pleasant as was my first impression of the hotel as we drove up. The property has the possibilities of being a nice place. Hope management will improve it.

"Awful Experience"
Linda R, 23 Septembre 2015

While staying at this hotel we encountered the following problems. 1. My friend was solicited by prostitutes in the pool area because it is open to the public. 2. There was fight that happened at the pool and we had to watch a guy get his head kicked in while the staff did nothing. 3. Someone had called our room and tried to get our credit card number by claiming it wasn't working. 4. The staff would rather be on their phones then attend to their guests. The staff got our bill wrong upon departure and were not authorized to refund us.

"Best in town"
canadatripper2010, 21 Septembre 2015

Overall, a very nice hotel. There are few hotels in the immediate area. Especially appreciated being across the street from a shopping area with grocery store, drug store, restaurants, etc. Movie theatre is also located within walking distance.

"Look to another place for lodging"
Mike S, 14 Septembre 2015

This Best Western franchise is an example of those that give the good ones a bad reputation. The overall experience had potential of being good, but the surly, unresponsive front desk staff blew it. We had two rooms, one for my aging parents. On the second day, the staff actually rented the room to someone else, and gave the person a key that let them in my parent's room!!! The front desk was flooded with unhappy people whenever I went to resolve an issue, which unfortunately, was 2-3 times each day. Too bad. The location is good.

"Bring your Clorox Wipes/cleaning supplies!"
Brian L, 10 Septembre 2015

First room they gave us was under construction. Next room had an overflowing trash can of beer cans, used soap in the bathroom and black hairs between the sheets! Coming back from eating there was an ambulance and firetruck covering up a dead person in the parking lot just across the street from the hotel! Don't think we'll be back.
