"GGT vs the Midnight Cancellation Policy"
GhettoGirlTravels, 18 Avril 2024

OK, I get it. You're part of a major hotel chain, positioned directly across the street from the airport. Hotel guests reserve rooms by giving you their credit card numbers. But then, when flights are late, canceled, or individuals decide to stay somewhere else, your hotel is left with empty rooms that could have been sold. So, you initiate a midnight check-in policy. Any reservation that has not been checked in by midnight is automatically cancelled. You then charge the credit card used to hold the reservation. Everyone knows your No Show policy, including Expedia. So what happens when someone books a room, makes a full payment, and receives a confirmation from Expedia? When you message the hotel (via Expedia's system) to notify the hotel that although you're prepaying for the 16th, because your 5:30 amflight will arrive early the following morning, you get crickets. When you message to follow up and explain that you have another hotel, on the 17th, but can't check in until 3:00 pm, you get crickets. (Is WhatsApp really not a thing?) The point is that rather than waiting in the airport (for seven hours) or paying for x amount of time in the airport lounge, you've prepaid for a room and will walk across the street, to the hotel, as soon as you clear immigration and customs. Well, … you walk up to the desk and here's what happens! Desk Clerk A has no idea of what you're talking about. Desk Clerk B comes over to assist. She explains that check-in is not until 2 pm. (Let us pray!) You explain that your reservation was for the day before and that you messaged the hotel (via Expedia) [after reading the note that said to do so, because this hotel does not return calls]. Clerk B goes and gets Manager/Desk Clerk 1. He inquires about the credit card you used to reserve the room. You explain that you paid for the room (outright) and show him the receipt via Expedia. He then explains the midnight check-in policy and says the hotel couldn't rebook the room. You then explained how that doesn't make any sense, given that you had already paid for the hotel room (from the 2pm check-in (on the 16th) until the noon checkout (on the 17th). How could the hotel “resale” a room that was already booked and paid for, via Expedia? He explained that it was because you didn't pay the hotel. You paid Expedia. Therefore, the hotel did not have a payment, by midnight, and had every right to cancel the reservation. OK. At this point I need to disclose that I was born and raised in Detroit. Just saying … So, I asked for the following clarification: 1. I paid for a room at your hotel, with the intention of paying full price, but only using the room for six or seven hours, and messaged you about the situation via Expedia. 2. You canceled my reservation, as a no show, and now the booking is no longer listed on my Expedia list of stays. My messages to you are also no longer available, via their app. 3. I did not receive a message from your hotel (nor from Expedia) notifying me that the reservation was canceled. 4. You're denying me access, to a room that I paid Expedia for, to shower and nap, over a four/six hour timeframe. Is that correct? I was told that if I could NOT provide the messages, to the hotel, Manager/Desk Clerk 1 was able to “sell” me a day pass, for a fee on top of the amount already paid for the room. At this point, it was high time to represent Detroit. I opened my phone to a thank you message from Google Maps. One of the pictures that I uploaded (of a Best Western Hotel in London) just received 1,000 views. Funny how that Best Western message appeared right before this latest Best Western booking issue. Next, I showed Manager/Desk Clerk 1 a recent message from TripAdvisor on my achievements. I've written 111 reviews, uploaded 360 photos, and received 34, 879 views, “from travelers around the world.” Finally, I explained my Expedia VIP status. In 2023, I booked 155 hotel stays, 21 flights, and 4 activities. I followed that by explaining how I'm a full time travel blogger (since December 2022) and I blog my experiences (good or bad). I took a seat and began messaging Expedia. Manager/Desk Clerk 1 called me back to the front desk. “I have good news. My manager said to give you a room. There are two beds, because that's all we have available.” He handed me the keycard. So, at 9:35, I finally entered my room. At 11:53, I walked out and returned to key to Manager/Desk Clerk 1 “Thanks.” I said. “You're welcome!” He replied. Detroit vs Everybody! I smiled, (under my breath) and exited the hotel.

"Management is not honest; Do NOT stay here!"
KatieTalksTravel, 22 Mars 2024

Only giving one star because I accidentally booked a one-night stay for May 14 instead of March 14. When I showed up on March 14, I realized I made a mistake. The receptionist told me I'd have to pay again for that night ($122), which I did, and the manager (I think her name was Christian) told me I would be refunded for May 14. I won't be in Nicaragua at that time, and that wasn't the night I intended to book. After many calls with my credit card company, Chase, who went out of their way to help and reach the property, the property is refusing to refund me for the May 14 stay (it's just $120). I cannot recommend staying at this property because it doesn't seem like management cares about its guests. The manager told me one thing in person, that they understood my mistake and would refund me, but on the phone, it's another story.

"Very Good Airport Hotel"
yellowpjs, 05 Mars 2024

I wanted a nice hotel before an early morning flight. I arrived after check in and was efficiently checked in. I told them that I had an early morning flight and asked for a packed breakfast. They asked me if I wanted a shuttle, I asked if it was safe to cross the street to the airport at 5am by myself and they said yes so I decided not to take the shuttle. Room 52 I had Room 52, which was in the first block of rooms near the entrance. The room was very basic, but it had everything you needed. The room was adequately cleaned but if you looked behind the bed, it was very dusty so it could be better. Everything worked as it should. The room was not very big, there was a bed, a desk, a chair and a small coffee table, a tv and a closet. The bathroom was basic but sufficient. Wifi worked fine. I went to the pool, and it looked really busy. Lots of people using it. There was a snackbar. I went to the restaurant for dinner. I ordered a half chicken with salad and fries. It was a big portion and it was very fairly priced (for tourists). I had outstanding service at the restaurant. I checked out at 5am, I just gave them my keys and I asked them for mysimple ham sandwich and an apple, I was able to bring this through security with no problems. It was super simple to cross the street to the airport. At the crosswalk I waited for the light to turn green, and crossed the street. It was simple and easy. No shuttle needed. Overall, if you have to stay near the airport, this is the best place.

"Excellent Stay"
dfletcher242024, 25 Février 2024

My 2nd stay. Excellent experience, very clean and great food. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Great atmosphere. Restaurant is close. Many food selections. Friendly staff. Pool is nice. Great location to the airport.

"Great option for catching an early flight"
Michael M, 24 Janvier 2024

Located right across from the airport. I was impressed by the quality of the dinner that I was served. I believe that most guests get a free breakfast. In my case, I had an early flight, so checked in my bags before breakfast opened, then came back to the hotel to have breakfast and check out. It's that close to the terminal. Nice airconditioned rooms make a great refuge from the mosquitoes, heat and humidity. Poolside bar for a relaxing final evening in Nicaragua.

"Disfunctional hotel"
217davesss, 22 Janvier 2024

Took a hour at 3am to get a functional room. First we were given keys to a occupied room. The next one the door was broken. After finding a functional room the A/C blew out. For our 3 hour stay during a layover was a disaster

"Only stay if you MUST sleep by the airport"
Felipe A, 19 Janvier 2024

Old and poorly maintained facility. Very bad service if at the front desk, bar and restaurant. We had nearly no water to shower and the few drops of water we got were cold (literally few drops) The only good thing about this establishment is its location. It stays literally across the street from the airport.

"Superb"
JZ1X, 17 Janvier 2024

Everything excellent from check in to check out. I forgot my prized, keepsake gold chain my friends and relatives told me “forget it it's lost” when I called the hotel I was so happy to hear housekeeping had found it and to pick it up at the hotel. May friends and relatives were like in shock saying wow they are really honest.

"My favorite hotel in Managua"
timchaffee1963, 15 Janvier 2024

Been visiting for 30 plus years and still feels like home. Enjoy the meals. Kitchen and serving staff are wonderful. Housekeeping are always friendly and go above and beyond to help out . Front desk team doesn't compare to the other teams, also the hotel manager is very good. We will continue to return every visit to Managua.

"Good place!"
toomasm35, 10 Septembre 2023

Nice place to stay before or after arrival to MGA. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful, rooms and facilities are clean. Food is OK but not excellent. I wish they were selling fine cigars at the bar.

"Worth every penny!"
kjax2023, 05 Août 2023

I'm from the US. Stayed in over 100 hotels in my time and been to 15 countries and counting. This place was not just the nicest BW i've ever stayed in, but the way it's set up keeps the rooms quiet and comfy. The staff was super nice and very professional with zero complaints. In fact, i made it a point to let the hotel manager know how impressed i was with all the people that worked there. Food was great in the Pergola restaurant connected to it and the pools (2) were clean and nice. The outside bar staff was on point and every member of the staff there was just great! Even if you stay there for one night because it's across the street from the airport, it's worth the stay.

"Good place to be ready for an early flight!"
wellwhateverfor, 27 Juillet 2023

We stayed one night waiting for our early flight home the next morning. I had hoped to have a room that overlooked Managua, but this hotel is set up with a variety of one-story wings. Because of all our luggage, we got a suite so we could make sure we had room to get everything packed right - and it was only $5 more per night. We had lunch and dinner at the restaurant and, except for my side squash that was one of the best things I've ever eaten, the food was so-so, but perfectly serviceable. We went to the pool in the afternoon and though it was raining, we enjoyed it as there was covered space for our stuff. (Had the best cappuccino while there! And my husband had a mint limeade that we had had before - if you haven't tried one, make sure you do while in Nicaragua.) Our flight was at 5:35am, so we asked for an express breakfast which was a banana and fat bread/thin filling sandwich and got the shuttle that takes you across the busy street to departures.

"Amazing hotel in Managua"
inavasmorales, 20 Juillet 2023

This hotel offers a relaxed atmosphere with an amazing pool for all ages, there is plenty of tables for large groups and the food is just amazing. I highly recommend the house platter which contains an assorted selection of meats.

"Disappointed "
Mollyfrancesoconnor, 29 Juin 2023

I'm hoping this review encourages change as this hotel has potential. The positives are convenience, friendliness and cleanliness. I was sick while visiting so never had the opportunity to check out their restaurant or pool area but it looked nice. However for $80 I had no hot water. The next morning I had NO water at all, I was checking out early for a flight so wanted to shower and brush my teeth which for $80 I kinda expect. The staff although friendly had no interest in compensating me for this. My included take away breakfast (which you consider with the cost of hotel) was given to another guest due to bad communication and as far as I could make out, there was no source of drinking water other than the complimentary bottle on arrival. Considering they have a notice in the room about helping the environment, a free filtered water dispenser should be provided. My 2 star review is due to what I received for the cost.

"Great airport access!!!"
Etel S, 17 Mai 2023

Right across from the airport. Cold AC and restaurant on site. Restaurant was pretty high cost for mediocre food. Stingy with towels here as well - seems like a Nicaragua thing - in any case, easy access to the airport + pool + safety!

"Great location poor service"
francisco4212, 11 Mai 2023

Right in front of the airport. Rustic interior, barely working AC and ants in the rooms. I have stayed in at least 6 different rooms. The restaurant staff is a hit or miss, some are good and others you will see with little ear pieces like they work with a top secret organization. Make sure to lock the windows to the bathroom because they are left unlocked. Also be sure to inspect the appliances because if they see something is broken after your stay then they will try to charge you an overpriced item. For example I did not use the hair dryer and they sent me a fuzzy photo saying I broke it when it was never used. Price of the hair dryer $60 usd. The convenience is simply not worth the hassle. Also when people walk across the halls the sounds carry. You will hear everything and it will not be a restful sleep.

"Not Impressed"
fmgtan, 26 Janvier 2023

We stayed here for one night, the night before our departure from Managua. Location-wise, very ideal, you can literally cross the street and you're at the airport. Best Western also provided a free shuttle service if you don't want to drag your luggages. Upon check-in, we were given a dirty room, so that was not a good 1st impression. After the room situation was resolved, it was very hard to sleep because you can hear people outside talking, walking or just simply passing by. There seems to be no sound-proofing at all. Furthermore, our AC was dripping water on the floor and the water pressure from the shower was almost nil, on top of not having any hot water! So when it's time for us to get ready at 2am in the morning for an early flight, it was very hard to shower. We didn't bother switching our room, because we only stayed there for 12 hours. Although we were promised packed breakfast to go (as our booking included breakfast), we didn't get any. I was told that we had to wait to get them ready, meanwhile, the shuttle to the airport was waiting for us, so we didn't have any choice but to leave without the food. In terms of the cost we paid, we expected so much more from Best Western.

"Nickel and dimming for low quality"
Frankly99001, 20 Janvier 2023

The staff will look to Nickle and dime for things that are free in every other best western. Early check in is a charge, typo on the number of guest for a two bed room, additional charge. Then you may find ants in your room and staff that enters the room without notice.

"Adjacent to Managua Airport"
Stephen L, 18 Décembre 2022

Large hotel adjacent to Managua Airport. Nice rooms, well equipped and a bathroom with a hot shower often not found in other Nicaraguan Hotels. Comfy bed, good a/c, nice garden and pool. The restaurant I found the a/c too cold, needed a sweater and several items unavailable on the evening menu

"A three minute walk from the airport, efficient and welcoming."
Burrorojo, 05 Décembre 2022

Easy walk from the airport - I did it at midnight and was unconcerned! Front desk staff was friendly, very bilingual (eng/esp) The cabins/rooms were quiet, good wifi and A/C. Nice grounds for walking around and a superb all included real breakfast! Will definitely return.

"Dissapointin"
L7904ZZpatricias, 22 Octobre 2022

I have been staying at Las Mercedes for 12 years, always looking forward to relaxing by the pool. On arrival using the time to aclimatize and on departure to relax and unwind before returning home. Always taking a couple of extra days just to enjoy. However on this occasion we found the pool closed for a Christian youth group using the area, but no the pool. Along wiht the pool closure, the pool bar was also closed and for some bizzar reaso, so was the only other bar located in the lobby. We paid extra for our two additional days but recieved less. Had we been told, when we booked the additional two nights that the pool was closed and both bars, we could have moved to a different hotel. As it was we had to hang out in our room, paying a premium for less services. On the first day there was a chef making personal omelets but this service was removed for the next two days, yet we were paying more to stay!!!! Breakfqst was poor with limited choicees. One day an offereing was hotdog sausages, and poor ones at that, They used to have q great breakfast, now it is substandard for the price of the hotel. Up side, the coffe is really good although they are slow to do refils and have to be hounded after the second one, Airport X is close by at less than half the price, but no pool and Camino Royal just down the street, more expensive, but has great food, pool always available and bars to socialize as well as the Casino . Rather than risk dissapointment again we will book else where

"Nice layout of a hotel for someone who doesnt like tall buildings, one story and lots of plants and trees"
sandy22magic, 29 Août 2022

we enjoyed our stay but the door needed maintance twice, I feel like at this point they should have just sent us to another room. I feel like because it was a courtesy room for a membership I bought and an event I hosted there that maybe they didnt care for our satisfaction that much, having maintance come in twice and have the door wide open wasnt so nice, with all our stuff in there and some of us using the bathroom when they came in, phone wasnt working no way to call front desk or room service, tv only showed one channel, The staff is very friendly and warm not complaints about that.

"Only hotel to stay in across the airport"
luisr10252022, 18 Mai 2022

This hotel was so disgusting, they came late to pick us up at 1am from the airport and asked us if we could walk to the hotel cuz their shuttle driver was sleeping. Once in the rooms the bathrooms were so dirty. Breakfast was so bad with everything tasting bland

"Clean, safe, close to Airport and with great FOOD!"
Calikid777, 16 Mai 2022

Restaurante La Pergola is fantastic! Worth booking a room at the hotel just to eat there a few more times! All restaurant staff genuinely sincere and caring while delivering excellence in service throughout my visit. Food fantastic and affordable with great variety on the menu to choose from. Will 100% be returning

"Good hotel"
laura n, 15 Mai 2022

This hotel is really cool. It is right opposite the airport (you have to cross a hair-raising road but there are staff to help and also a shuttle). The pool is awesome, lots of music and very lively atmosphere. The food in the restaurant was also really good. The rooms are nothing special but they are clean and adequate for our needs. Despite being ‘just' an airport hotel, we actually really enjoyed our stay! Would definitely stay again.

"Another Great Trip to Managua"
Tim M, 05 Mai 2022

Great access to the airport. Excellent staff and the breakfast is better than any Best Western in the USA. Perfect for departing Managua as you can check in with the airlines and come back and relax there instead of the airport.

"No water, no early morning food, mediocre restaurant food"
SLTahoe, 07 Avril 2022

Needed to stay at the BW Mangua to catch an early morning flight. The hotel is right across from the airport so two minutes ride to the airport. There was NO water in my room in the evening and in the morning barely a trickle in the shower and NO hot water. The rooms havent changed in over 20 years. The restaurant food selection was limited and food less than average quality. Printer in the lobby was not working to print Covid test results and boarding pass. 6AM flight, but no food options that early in the moring. Construction noise at the hotel that went on well past 5PM

"Great place to stay and very safe"
thealleysquad, 01 Avril 2022

Food at the restaurant was a little expensive but was worth it.. the churrasco traditional was a 10/10.. breakfast was amazing as well.. very beautiful scenery right at heart of managua.. overall it was a great place to stay at

"Great place to stay near the airport"
megganbonilla, 27 Mars 2022

Great place to stay near the airport. The staff was very friendly and the service was great. Property could use some more clean up but apart from that this is the place to stay. The gym was closed during my stay but that is okay

"Convenient for a night"
adeles482, 21 Mars 2022

It served the purpose of an overnight stay in between flights. The outside and reception area is far more impressive than the rooms/cabins. The people were friendly but to be honest it was a very weird hotel, like nothing we have experienced before!

"Best value hotel"
Bill W, 14 Mars 2022

Have stayed here many times. There are cheaper hotels but this one has everything you need. Always a smooth stay. This hotel is across from the airport and runs a shuttle service to and from. I recommend calling ahead to the hotel and arrange for the shuttle as the highway is too busy to cross with luggage

"Right across from Airport"
Emily H, 12 Mars 2022

Right across from the airport which was nice. Rooms were clean and comfortable, however, we did not have any water for a couple of hours at night due to construction ongoing at the hotel (no shower), which is the reason for the average rating. Staff was very friendly.

"Excellent locations and amenities"
Yader S, 08 Mars 2022

Excellent location right across from the airport. Good amenities like a nice pool, WiFi and free transfers from and to the airport is available. Includes a free delicious breakfast with both National and American items.

"Amazing Staff"
BensX2022, 04 Mars 2022

After a bad night, I came to the Best Western, Las Mercedes at 4am. The gentlemen at the front desk could see that I just needed a room and he accommodated me, got me a room, arranged a round trip driver to get my Covid test. I saw him the next morning as I was leaving, and he asked how I was doing and to have a safe flight home. He was a true gentleman!! Food & Service was excellent all round. Highly recommend!!

"Best Breakfast of any Best Western property"
Timothy M, 21 Décembre 2021

The location to the airport is perfect, they have a van for transfers or walk across the street. The staff knows me and always has fresh coconut water in my room and at the bar. Their breakfast is outstanding, eggs made to order and everything else you may want. On your day of departure just check in with Avainica and walk back to the hotel for breakfast and relax before your flight. Spacious pool with a bar and a excellent club sandwich. The staff is super friendly and always willing to help.

"Garden oasis across from airport"
ramcghee, 03 Décembre 2021

Lovely, clean rooms in a pretty park-like setting with lots of trees and 2 pools. Friendly and professional staff. Buffet breakfast included - fresh fruit, eggs, pastries etc. Dinner at the restaurant was great too!

"Airport hotel"
sandramaureder, 29 Novembre 2021

Soulless place, but in the perfect location if you arrive at Managua Airport late at night and have the early flight with La Costeña to the Corn Islands booked. Or vice versa. Room was ok, but wouldn't want to spend more night than necessafy there.

"Loud and dirty."
jtibbitts14, 20 Juillet 2021

Constructions and cleaning being done in the middle of the night near guste rooms causing sleep disruption. Ants crawling all over bed and rest of room. Very dirty sheets with stains and hairs. Close proximity to airport was only good thing.

"Great hotel getaway from a busy city"
sammiesjogreen, 07 Juin 2021

If you want to avoid a hostel in Managua, this is a very nice and comfortable hotel. I stayed with my husband to treat ourselves to a nice place and it definitely met our expectations! Great pool bar, beautiful restaurant, and delicious steak dinner for room service. There were a lot of local families staying here, but the hotel is so large that we easily were able to enjoy a romantic couple nights here.

"Great place to stay in Managua"
atm417, 03 Juin 2021

Entire property is amazing and very clean beyond expectations better than hotels in US, I stayed in several hotel in Nicaragua and this one exceeded my expectations. Restaurant is great and food is amazing. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The entire staff is friendly they try to help you in every way possible. The hotel is a safe place to relax and enjoy a few drinks. It's directly across from the airport and central to many tourist locations.

"Airport stay"
GDNicaTravelers, 28 Mai 2021

Very convenient stay if flying to and from Managua. This hotel is always clean with friendly staff. The on-site restaurant has great food and reasonable hours for traveling. We have stayed here many times and will continue to make future reservations.

"Always good for location to Airport...this trip Staff made it better."
ElCardhu, 16 Mai 2021

I always stay when I am heading out of Nica, in the past I've checked in for the convenience of the location and just suffered the problems. This trip, I was impressed with the level of service and attentiveness of the staff...something changed. The problems remain, water pressure, hot water issues, pool bar, but overall it's worth the money for the location.

"Quirky Layout with A Mix of Good and Average"
2fromTX, 15 Mai 2021

Based on a one night stay, I would say that this hotel serves it's purpose - it is directly across the road from the airport, so perfect for catching a morning flight. In fact, if you time the traffic properly, it is a five minutes or less walk from the front door of the hotel to the front entrance to the airport. Just mind your step as you cross the road. The lobby is sleek and modern and the check in service professional and efficient. They were kind enough to print out some documents we needed to catch our flight that we sent them by e-mail. The lobby has a small coffee bar, but unfortunately it wasn't open at 7:30 a.m. when we were getting ready to depart. Once you leave the lobby to go towards your room, the hotel looks much different. The rooms are located in a series of interconnected, well maintained barracks style buildings separated by covered walkways. Our rooms were pretty basic and small, but clean with a comfortable bed. Our only complaint was the air conditioner. Don't get me wrong, it was great. Really great. But, we couldn't locate a blanket and the unit was aimed directly at the bed. Unfortunately, by the time we figured this out, the lobby was closed. If you are looking for a place to eat, the logical place is the restaurant at the hotel, which can be found at the end of a long covered walkway leading off the lobby to the left. The restaurant is very large, sort of like a conference room style place. We heard music playing by the adjoining pool, so went over to a table outside. The pool is huge and tropical, and quite a few of the guests were taking full advantage of it by swimming, having drinks and eating. There is a snack bar by the pool providing drink and appetizer service, and they had a speaker setup playing music, creating a nice festive atmosphere for the evening. A waiter from the restaurant came out and told us we could order from the full restaurant menu and they would bring it out, so we did. The fajitas were great, cold beer reasonably priced. Sadly, at 7 p.m., they promptly shut down the snack bar and the music. The lights dimmed a bit and our food from the restaurant came out shortly after. It was fun watching what appeared to be large bats skimming the pool to get small drinks of water, an unexpected natural entertainment source. Although we didn't get out much during our short stay, we didn't see a lot to do in the nearby vicinity, but this place is just fine - and interesting - for a night's stay before a flight.

"Very disappointed - no working internet"
rebekahcampan, 05 Avril 2021

Paid $120 USD for this hotel and the internet didn't even work. We've stayed at much cheaper hotels all across Nicaragua, and even in the smallest, most remote towns, had no issues with internet speed or connection. Came to the Best Western in Managua and couldn't even get a call through with the internet. We were dealing with an emergency and needed internet to figure things out, and were so frustrated with the internet at Best Western as it kept cutting out and not working. The staff gave us an ethernet cable to try to plug our laptops in directly, but the cable was broken and neither ports worked. Super disappointed and frustrated with this hotel. The only nice thing is that it's across the street from the airport.

"Great location to catch flights"
Retired_Traveler_7, 02 Avril 2020

No surprises, this is a Best Western Hotel with rates accordingly, always ask for discounts for seniors or CAA/AAA members. Location is ideal for early morning flights or less stressful arrivals or departures, especially with trying to get a flight out during the multiple cancelations. Well kept grounds with large swimming pool, snack bar and good dining restaurant. The rooms are laid out in small bungalow style all connected with covered walkways and room types are based on needed bedding. Overall rooms are clean, comfortable but on the small size including the basic bathrooms. Great quiet air conditioners to cool the rooms as needed. The meals at the restaurant including the included breakfast were tasty, well prepared and ample

"Great Location across from the Airport."
productiveinva2020, 13 Mars 2020

We always stay at the Best Western Las Mercedes the night before our flight, and you can not get any closer to the Airport than this convenient Hotel. I love the convenience of having a good Restaurant in the Property, the food is very good, Cool AC and comfortable chairs. Lobby is clean and modern. Our room was quiet and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Good AC and nice towels. Pool and garden are beautiful. We highly recommend the Best Western Las Mercedes when you are arriving late or leaving early the next morning, for the convenience of being so close to the Airport.

"Updated since last visit"
MullinsW, 10 Mars 2020

Upon arrival to Las Mercedes I noticed as soon as I arrived that the lobby had a major upgrade. Definitely a modern vibe with lots of white and silver accents. The rest of the hotel looked the same. Room was clean and has ample room for a king bed room. Lots of channel options both in Spanish and in English. Had an early flight the next morning and upon arrival to the lobby was promptly great and within seconds was on my way to the airport via hotel shuttle. Great hotel and great location directly across from the airport.

"Bad customer service and expensive"
Powmafia, 03 Mars 2020

Bad customer service and way to expensive for the rooms they have. they have made multiple mistake in my reservations and made me pay for it. i'm usually very patient and i always try to find ways to arrange things so everyone is happy. they simply do not give a f$&@. also they maids are extremely loud , they would scream at each other from one end of the hallway to the other at 8 in the morning. Worst best western experience i have ever had

"You can get a better deal"
Noelia V, 08 Janvier 2020

The only reason I stayed at this hotel was that it is right in front of the airport so is useful to catch early morning flights. The rooms are outdated, small TVs for the price they have. This place needs renovations, the breakfast was served at 6am so didnt try it. I tried their buffet style lunch for 15USD no beverage included, nothing special. You can save money and get a better stay

"Comfortable stay"
Ian P, 11 Décembre 2019

It has been upgraded since the last time I stayed there. Set up is long corridors with rows of rooms. It is a long walk to the restaurant. I had a nice dinner but it was quite pricey after being used to Granada prices. Breakfast was included and excellent. Should get some yogurt and maybe some muesli. Eggs cooked to order. Coffee at breakfast must have been instant not very good. Recommend

"Excellent hotel close to Sandino airport"
Herman M, 08 Novembre 2019

I have stayed at the Best Western Las Mercedes many times since 1988. The good news is that it's a five-minute drive from Sandino airport. (You could actually walk across the street from the airport, but I don't recommend it.) The hotel lobby has been expanded and improved in the past year. The hotel is set in a beautiful setting--it looks rural, rather than urban. The complimentary breakfasts are extraordinary. Dinner is pretty good, although not great. The drawback to the restaurant is that it isn't near anything interesting other than the airport. We got a rental car--best place is Lugo--so we could go anywhere we wanted. If you don't have a rental car, you'll have to go by taxi, because you really don't want to walk into downtown Managua from Las Mercedes. It's just too far. You're advised not to drink the tapwater. However, the hotel provides a bottle of water gratis. All in all a very good hotel, with the drawbacks I mentioned above.

"Outstanding and awesome!!!"
Dexter C, 31 Octobre 2019

Location, location, location! We have travel to Managua at lease twice a year, and have tried other hotels over the years. But none can compare to Best Western. Beside the location, we have a staff (all around), that is committed and dedicated to make you feel, safe, and at home. Excellent price for all that they offer. Everything from a full breakfast to their internet service, and their free courtesy shuttle service, is excellent. Staff is very friendly, professional and helpful. My wife and I HIGHLY recommend this place.

"Good stay in front of the airport."
Michele P, 23 Octobre 2019

Comfortable and functional stay in front of the Managua airport. Good rooms, excellent breakfast/lunch buffet and friendly staff. Not particularly picturesque, but excellent for a business/official visit.

"Wonderful day with family."
Fearless616955, 19 Octobre 2019

Expended the last night in Managua with my brother who take care of our dad who was I'll, and wanted to treat my brother to a relaxing night which he did. He slept all day and the evening we went to the pool bar to have a nice brother and sister chat and snack. Anibal who recommended us a delicious snack. I definitely will do it again and for a longer stay.

"Very pleased."
Myloveplus6, 11 Octobre 2019

I highly recommend this hotel. It's within walking distance from MGA Airport. The rooms are private, clean and the mattress are comfortable. Breakfast is included and free parking. For breakfast there's a cook that makes your eggs to order along with a vast selection of other food options and fruits. I felt very safe and pleased at all times. I would stay again and recommend to friends.

"Las Mercedes Best Western"
CarolSpringfieldIL, 23 Septembre 2019

Whenever we are traveling to places in Nicaragua, we often stay at this Best Western in Managua. It is across from the airport and convenient to LaCostena Airlines if you are traveling to other parts of the country. They have recently remodeled and it is very inviting. The persons hired by Las Mercedes are kind, patient, and very knowledgeable about the hotel, all it offers, and ways to get around the city.

"Good option before airport!"
Valvarado, 04 Juillet 2019

Just in front of the airport, is a very good option to save time. The food is good and very good buffet breakfast. Rooms are confortable, if you are unlucky, you might get a room with smoke smelling. I've been there about 5 times and only once was unlucky.

"One minute to the airport. Lovin' it."
MsJeannie, 05 Juin 2019

Directly across from the airport in Managua. The very best breakfast buffet. AND at dinner, the best tortilla soup that I've ever had in my life! The hotel restaurant and lobby has been completely renovated. Super nice.

"Great airport hotel"
Getaway34734862951, 26 Mai 2019

Great hotel to stay at if catching a early flight or come in late. I usually stay at Camino Real hotel near airport but chose best western this trip. For the price difference it was worth it. Rooms are a bit out dated but clean, pools were nice but I didn't use.

"Ideal Location for Airport "
dennysinnott, 28 Avril 2019

We booked here 2 separate nights due to its location which is a walk across the road from the airport. This was a bonus for us as the domestic terminal to Corn Islands and International back home were 2 minutes away. In addition to this the staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool with a bar and concession were also nice. The rooms were clean with good AC and hot water. The restaurant has a good menu. The breakfast was included and it was buffet style with lots of options including fruit and custom made eggs. Excellent and friendly place to stay. Note there is a gift shop in the lobby and small store 150m at the gas station which sells beer, rum and lots of other snacks.

"10th Stay at Las Mercedes"
WindmillVancouver_BC, 03 Avril 2019

Perfect location for airport stay. Just across the road and if that is too far to walk use the complimentary shuttle service. We stayed here at least ten times over the past seven years and will continue to do so. Extremely friendly and efficient staff and a good range of food & beverage outlets. Spoil yourself with a $40 massage

"Could be better"
Freedom30146121427, 11 Mars 2019

Stayed for ease of morning access to the airport. The hotel was clean and pleasant and staff friendly. However there was no water in the vending machines and bottles from the restaurant expensive. Basically no drinking water unless you pay very high prices. Also hot water didn't seem to be working

"Great Hotel!"
Explore07902294317, 07 Mars 2019

Best Western was a great hotel to get last minute. There was a shuttle at the airport waiting inside the terminal which made it both quick and comforting. The rooms need to be updated but they were clean and comfortable.

"sneaky tactics"
karen2863, 04 Mars 2019

When I reserved my room on line, I wasn't able to change the one person to two people for the reservation and didn't think it would matter, since it was only my husband and myself. When I got there, they charged me $20.00 extra for my husband- the room ended up costing $120.00 for one night- 4 times more than a much nicer hotel in Granada the night before. The Best Western doesn't seem to realize that the rest of Nicaragua is slashing their prices due to the lack of tourism currently. The hotel is empty, for good reason. In the future, I will stay at one of the other nearby hotels, which offer free airport shuttles. Also, the "free" breakfast was lame- a few fruits and croissants. They said we did not have "access" to the hot portion of the buffet.

"Really done nice , totally renovated"
randyh413, 13 Février 2019

Everything is new! The room was clean & nice with A/C & hot shower. The bed slept good. There are 2 pools A on-site massage and hair Cutting place. The free breakfast bar was great with a lot to choose from

"Not exciting but just beside the airport"
PSchoppe, 24 Janvier 2019

The hotel is just across the street from the airport. You can easily walk, but the hotel offer free shuttle bus. The rooms are very dark even in the middle of the day. And not very soundproof. The staff is friendly and helpful

"High quality"
JustinBrasdog, 15 Janvier 2019

Had a great stay in December 2018. Very good restaurant, too. The value and service we're excellent. If you're flying in to Managua, this is a great place to stay, as it is walking distance from the airport.

"Very Nice!"
TBMark, 27 Décembre 2018

We missed our flights and had to stay here for a few nights. Hotel is very resort like with two nice pools and gardens everywhere. It is right across from the airport and had a shuttle if you need it. Staff are very friendly especially Bruno who was exceptionally friendly and with great service.

"Nice"
Mike M, 11 Décembre 2018

This is what you can expect from a typical BW in Nicaragua. They keep it clean, breakwas was good. Some noise at night but I guess this was to be expected in a big city. I think it's pretty good for Nicaragua.

"Great, and very safe, place to stay!"
ClairXyz, 11 Novembre 2018

I am sitting in the restaurant of the Best Western Las Mercedes, having just enjoyed a magnificent Nicaraguan steak, and a couple of Toña beers. That no-one had written a review for almost a month made me hesitate to continue with my planned trip to Nicaragua, but my experience has proved that I should not have been concerned. I was arriving during the day, so elected simply to cross the street from the airport on foot. There is a light that stops traffic, so this is perfectly safe, and is right by the manned payment booths at the exit of the airport parking, so felt totally safe. The room is no-frills, but the air conditioning is powerful and the bed comfortable so I am satisfied. Breakfast is great (fresh cooked omelets, killer beans and rice, fresh fruit.. ) All the staff are extremely friendly and professional. I would certainly stay here again!

"Good for Managua layovers and business."
skoddehauk, 21 Octobre 2018

The hotel is located right by the airport in Managua, just a short walk from a terminal. We arrived late at night and it was a relief to be so close to the hotel. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The grounds are well kept and it is a big pluss with the pools and gym at the hotel. Location makes it most suitable for business travelers on a quick visit to Managua since there is really nothing going on around the hotel. Breakfast was nice with a good variety of foods. The only problem I faced at the hotel was very low water pressure, making it more or less impossible to take a shower. Modernised not long ago, the lobby, bar and rooms are of good standard. I have no problem recommending this hotel to travelers to Managua.

"Excellent Stay"
mrclair, 11 Octobre 2018

I booked a stay at this hotel since I needed to be close to the airport and nearby locations. Other than a minor issue with my key card, I was very happy with the facility and enjoyed my overall stay. The staff was very friendly and hospitable and I felt very comfortable.

"Great place, convenient to airport"
Chris S, 02 Octobre 2018

The rooms are clean, nice. not too large, but not too small. The environment is very pleasant with an outdoor pool and recently remodeled lobby and restaurant. You can eat indoors or outdoors and there is a bar and a place to order food out by the pool. The pool is large and grounds are well kept. If you didn't go to Nicaragua for a vacation, then one afternoon here will make up for your missed opportunity. The convenience to the airport is amazing, as it is directly across the street. If you don't feel comfortable crossing the road, you can take the airport shuttle. I have stayed there on 4 different occasions, and only once was it uncomfortable. They actually rent a separate pool out for private parties. One night there was a young girl's 15 year birthday party and the music went on until 2 am. At that point i asked the desk what I could be expecting for the rest of the night and they assured me the party was over. The next day they offered to move me to a nicer room further away from any noise, but I declined and asked for a complimentary lunch, which they gave me. The one thing to watch out for is to always double check whether services are in dollars or cords. The staff is quite flexible between currencies, but you don't want to assume. For your first time coming to or leaving Nicaragua, I definitely recommend this hotel.

"Convenient for airport access"
Andrea F, 02 Octobre 2018

Staff are warm and friendly and although the rooms are basic, they are perfect for breaking up a trip as the hotel is located directly across the street from the airport and they include a complimentary breakfast. Thank you José Pérez for the lovely service in the restaurant!

"Great Layover option in Managua"
jordanseverin, 29 Août 2018

We recently went on a family trip to the Corn Islands (2 kids, 8 and 11). We had a last minute flight change on one of our flights and needed to find a hotel in Managua for the night. We decided to stay at the Best Western Las Mercedes primarily due to the location. It is literally right across the street from the airport. We hadn't really read any reviews as this was a last minute requirement. We decided to rent out 2 rooms (both with doubles), one for the kids and one for us. The price was totally reasonable compared to our other options. The place was great, its not a five star place, but that's not what we were after. We were after inconvenience and ease. The negatives were that the breakfast buffet options were limited (from a North American perspective), the pedestrian light at the road didn't work so we had to dodge traffic to get there (it really wasn't bad, just a little nerve-racking as the kids were not used to it) and that there were a few dead bugs (3 or 4) in one of the showers in the room. I more than expect that when travelling to Central America, so it wasn't really that big of a deal. The positives were that it was otherwise very clean, the beds were comfy, the rooms were fine, the staff was really friendly, the location was great and easy to walk to (just watch out for traffic), the pool and the lounge were fantastic (kids played for hours, but they love pools), the food and drinks poolside were exactly what we needed, and it was quiet for being next to an airport. If you need to book a night in Managua while travelling through, I would totally recommend this place. It was great.

"Lovely Staff"
Jennifer L, 21 Août 2018

I've stayed at this Best Western a few times and the best thing about this place is definitely the staff. So sweet and friendly, and they go out of their way to make sure everything is great. Everyone is wonderful, and especially Jose Gomez who works as a server in the dining room, amazingly kind!

"Close To The Airport"
Michael P, 20 Août 2018

If you are in need of a hotel room close to the Managua, Nicaragua airport, the Best Western Las Mercedes is the perfect choice. The hotel is located directly across the street from the airport and provides free shuttle service to and from the airport, free buffet breakfast, wi-fi, gym, and clean comfortable air-conditioned rooms.

"Across from the Aiport, Good breakfast."
mike g, 13 Août 2018

The rooms are rather small and old but adequate. The breakfast is first class, served in elegant surroundings. The there are 2 pools, one big enough for laps, but tends to be full at times. The staff is professional and efficient. The gym is very poorly equipped for a big hotel, is without A/C so very unpleasant. We spent 5 nights, and frankly without a car it gets boring. It is however perfect for an overnight upon arrival, due to its closeness to the airport. Only need to cross the street.

"Convenient to Managua airport"
eric0lthwaite, 22 Juillet 2018

Set out in rows of porta-cabins , very much like staying on a mine site. The rooms and conveniences are basic but they do have WiFi. The restaurant and food are reasonable. There are two swimming pools but neither seeing much use at the time I visited. I would rate this hotel as a good start / end point for a trip to Nicaragua, before moving on.

"Excellent airport transit hotel"
Ryan G, 22 Juin 2018

This hotel is a great choice if you're just wanting a place to stay near the airport while arriving or departing Managua. Directly across the street from the airport. 5 minute walk across the street from the terminal or catch the 1-2 minute free hotel shuttle. Big comfortable rooms. Restaurant on site with tasty breakfast buffet included. All staff were very professional and friendly. My wife and I stayed here 1 night after arriving on a late night flight into Managua at 12am. We also enjoyed being able to relax on the hotel grounds before our return flight departing at 1am a few weeks later. Dinner at the restaurant and relaxing at the hotel pool bar rather than sitting in the airport before catching the late flight was a big comfort and convenience! The hotel and surrounding area felt very safe and secure, which was also a big plus considering the unfortunate civil unrest in other parts of Managua and throughout the country during time of travel.

"Best of the best for it's money"
hmonta619018, 18 Juin 2018

I love my Best Western Las Mercedes. It's right across the street from the airport and they still pick you up as a VIP. The free (included in price) breakfast is delicious, dinner is awesome and the staff is even better. The rooms are absolutely clean and the staff is an absolute pleasure. They will do whatever it takes to make your stay special. I usually stay 2 1/2 weeks and have been visiting for the past 20 years. Car rentals are right at the airport so everything is near... OHHHHHHHH and the pool, always clean and olympic sized!!!! hair dresser the best. Bartender, well super great!!!! love my stay at MY BEST WESTERN LAS MERCEDES

"Two Thumbs Down "
Michelletraveler3, 09 Juin 2018

We arrived early and were told our room would be ready by 2 PM. I even offered to pay for early check in but the FD said just come back at 2 and your room will be ready then. We patiently waited and came back at 2:20 only to be told that our room wouldn't be ready for another 20-30 minutes. The staff was rude and didn't care in fact they told me that the room is only guaranteed by 2 if they had no shows. Offered no apologies and told me to wait in the lobby I waited a whole hour before my room became available. The room was noisy and far from the lobby we weren't given directions and got lost. Spider webs were found in the closet just overall bad experience. One piece of advice for staff. an apology and honesty goes along way. Had the front desk been honest and not set my expectations for my room to be ready at 2 I wouldn't have been so disappointed.

"Not planned on trip but enjoyed my stay"
Metravel4ever, 05 Juin 2018

I had to stay there two nights unplanned (due to protests blocking my plans). I don't stay at BW at home but this was best option. I enjoyed the environment, was nice lobby, has pool, felt safe, kept my luggage there overnight when I went to Corn Islands, and the service staff were very good. The place was packed due to protests and flight issues due to volcanic eruption in Guatemala but service staff were very accommodating. The rooms were basic but mine was clean and everything in it worked. I'd stay there again. The free breakfast was average but I was satisfied with the fruit, croissants, and coffee. I'm rating this four stars because I consider it better quality for the location.

"Average...but"
wanda t, 26 Mai 2018

The room was OK for one night but I have been in much better Best Western ! It seems that the hotel is taking advantage to be located in front of the airport which is indeed very handy but it still need some managerial follow up. The reception was remodeled and is quite nice. Receptionists could be more welcoming ! Rooms were not upgraded though, they remain small but they are clean. The cold water was not working well in our room so the shower was extremely hot !!! The rooms do not have fridge ! I would also recommend to put a list of the TV channels. Nice swimming pool but not that clean as some people were in the pool with their clothes !!! The restaurant is quite good. Take local beer as the exported ones, such as Corona, are 5$ !!!

"Disgusting - beds were hard as a rock., paint chipping off the walls & ceiling, wrong plug for coffee maker - really ???"
Darlene J, 18 Mai 2018

Disgusting - beds were hard as a rock., paint was chipping off the walls & ceiling and there were holes in the wall. The air conditioner was a joke - it hardly worked at all. The supplied a coffee maker with 3 prongs but there were no outlets with 3 prongs - really ??? So no coffee. Just awful. Since we were only staying for 1 night, out of necessity, we stayed and got thru it but seriously it was really bad.

"Belongings"
Highland Tours N, 13 Mai 2018

I forgot some belongings in the room (my phone charger and some clothes) I called them 8 hours after realizing I've left them behind and asked them if they had them, they told me they didn't, that room keepers didn't report any forgotten items. Immediately this was obsurd to me and told them I was going to be at the hotel in a few days and that I expect them to have my stuff by then, needless to say that when I went back they didn't have my belongings. This is unacceptable especially since this is an international hotel, my advice: make sure you don't leave any belongings behind, otherwise you won't get them back especially if they are electronics

"Perfect location "
merceruk2, 08 Mai 2018

The best spot for a late night arrival. Literally across the street from the airport, 100m at the most. You can see the hotel from the terminal. Friendly check in, clean, comfortable rooms and a great breakfast that is included in the price. The bar even shows flight arrivals and departures.

"Las Mercedes Best Western, Managua, NIcaragua"
CarolSpringfieldIL, 02 Mai 2018

We often stay at this Best Western for its convenience to the airport. It is undergoing some changes so be patient if you stay here. These changes do not diminish the quality of service provided by the staff - check-in, shuttle service, assistance with luggage, restaurant. They even have a coffee and dessert bar in the lobby. We tried this one evening. Great coffee and choice of desserts.

"Very poor service"
Robz086, 15 Avril 2018

The buildings are clean and comfortable however the service here is sub-par for a chain hotel. Check-in took forever, our room wasn't prepared (clean but no towels), the bar service was very slow and unfriendly. Overall not a great stay. Luckily we're only here for one night as it's close to the hotel. After weeks of travels, my husband and I were hoping for more than what we received from this hotel.

"Good First night stay"
vandermaatenv, 12 Avril 2018

Right across from airport. Most flights get into Managua early, early morning. Good place to spend first and last night in Nicaragua.Watch for Concierge at airport.Do not walk across to hotel. Hard to believe but ner do wells watch here for people arriving that dont have a clue about Nicaragua. Quite expensive compared to rest of country but avg for US or Canadian prices.Free buffet breakfast is good. Not a place for your holiday but good jumping off place to get your bearings.

"Very Convenient to the Airport"
guppie9, 11 Avril 2018

I stayed here for a week with a large group (200+) in June 2017. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The conference room was large and air conditioned. The food provided as a buffet for our group was outstanding. The rooms left a little to be desired. To be fair, I have never stayed in a country like Nicaragua. If you are comparing this to a hotel in the US, you will be disappointed. I don't know what other hotels in the Managua area are like, but it was a pleasant surprise for me. Definitely conveniently close to the airport.

"Extremely Convenient"
Michele C, 29 Mars 2018

This hotel is literally across the street from Managua airport. I believe they have a shuttle but we chose to just walk across the street. Makes it very convenient if you have early morning or late night arrival or departures. It is a large property which is kind of confusing to find your room. The breakfast we very good (and free!). There was an omelette station as well as fresh fruit and other continental items. We also ate dinner in the restaurant (which is not free). The food was pretty good. The cost wasn't too bad but probably a little more expensive then other places. The beds were comfortable enough. We arrived to find ants in our bathroom but we called and it was quickly taken care of. We did arrive at 6pm and was supposed to be a 2pm checkin and was told we had to wait until 1 of our 2 rooms was ready. We had to sit in the lobby and wait about an hour when I asked again and it still wasn't ready. At that point, they just gave us a different room.

"Pricey, but comfy and convenient"
Michael F, 19 Mars 2018

I actually had 2 stays a week apart as part of my week in Nicaragua, the first a single night in room 68 and the then a week later for 2 nights in room 44. In both cases I found the beds comfortable and the AC very good. In fact the only complaint in the rooms was both had cable TV issues that I never worked out was a connection or certain channels just fuzzy off their satellite system. The Wifi throughout the property is adequate for most needs, but I wouldn't try to game on it. I found the property and grounds to be pleasant and relaxing, the pools clean, and the staff friendly and accommodating. The only thing lacking there was the communication between BW in the US and the property as despite my advising BW I would be arriving from San Juan Del Sur around 6AM, not only was the room not ready, but the front desk staff was not even expecting me. The food and beverage prices were a bit steep for the area, but fair by US standards. I found the breakfast buffet to be quite good and thoroughly enjoyed my Nacatamal. Overall for needing to overnight in Managua before and after trips to other parts of the country it's location across from the airport is great for the o dark thirty check in I had for the flight back to the US and I found Las Mercedes to be a pleasant neighborhood to explore during the day. It is a bit on the high side for what hotels in Managua go for, but factoring in car fares in Managua it works out int he end.

"very pleasant stay across from Managua Airport"
Brian B, 19 Mars 2018

Quite lovely property with spotless rooms, very comfortable beds. Extremely convenient location, 2 or 3 minute walking distance to Managua airport. Food was delicious and reasonably priced at restaurant for dinner and a full hot breakfast provided!

"Amazingly Convenient "
Chris C, 19 Mars 2018

Have stayed at the BW Las Mercedes several times when travelling in and out out MGA. It is the perfect location if your plans include any late night arrivals or early morning departures with ground transfers to/from other parts of the country. An airport shuttle is available, but defiantly not necessary as it is located directly across the easily pedestrian navigated 6 lane street. (Just be careful!!) The lobby and reception areas are modern and fresh. Check in/out has always been a seamless transaction with the polite and professional desk staff. The basic room is pretty plain jane with only a few necessities provided. The rooms have always been clean are equipped with AC and hot water. 1, 2, and 3 bed options are available at the bottom rate depending on the size of your group. If I was staying for more than a couple nights or planned on spending a lot of time in the room.....I would probably upgrade a notch or two. The complimentary breakfast is quite good with many different options, including a custom omelette bar w/ a very personable chef who will great you with a smile. I have rated this a 5* due to the great experience I have always had travelling through to other parts of Nicaragua. In saying that, Las Mercedes is a well kept hotel keeping up the BW standards, and gets a solid 3 stars for comfort and amenities.

"Great hotel"
net66, 19 Mars 2018

We loved our stay here. We started our trip in Nicaragua staying here and we ended our trip staying here. The location for the airport is perfect. My first thought was “We are going all the way to Nicaragua and staying at a Best Western” but as soon as we arrived and checked out the amazing pools and grounds it felt like we were in a secluded hotel! The food is great, the service was awesome especially at the pool bar! They even mixed up my Caesar powder I had brought along! The pools are very nice and it was always quiet around them.

"Wonderful Accomadations"
heatonkent, 16 Mars 2018

This is the third time I have stayed at Best Western Las Mercedes in Managua. Each visit is better than the last. I was quite surprised by the modern look of the lobby this year and the new renovations that are taking place. The rooms are comfortable and spacious with well attention to care. The breakfast is like nothing I have ever seen before (one of the reasons I love staying here) and the restaurant is very, very good food with excellent service by the staff. Very attentive. The hotel manager Mr. Roberto is very kind to spend time talking with us and very engaging to speak with. My overall experience is A+.

"Exceeded Expectatons"
MsVickiG, 14 Mars 2018

I don't usually have high expectations for an airport hotel; but, even if Best Western Las Mercedes hadn't been conveniently located so close to the airport, I still wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone travelling to Managua. We were able to stow our luggage in a lock-up area before checking in, the new lobby is airy and modern, the staff was friendly and efficient, two pools gave us options, there were lots of other amenities too. I do have high expectations for the Best Western brand and this hotel exceeded them. The room was super clean, the AC and internet worked great, the bed was very comfortable, and the food and drinks we enjoyed were tasty and fairly priced. I enjoyed pizza while my husband had a pannini which he said was also good. The shuttle service was the fastest I have ever experienced and the icing on the cake was the croissants and coffee on offer because, at 4am, were we too early for the complimentary breakfast. We will stay here again on our next trip to Nicaragua.

"Great food with casual atmosphere!"
Patty I, 12 Mars 2018

We stayed at the BW Mercedes upon our arrival and departure from Nicaragua. The location was excellent, located just across the street from the airport. Beautiful grounds and a great start for a birding trip! The restaurant food was excellent and service staff very willing to assist. Rooms were comfortable and clean! We'd definitely stay there again!

"This is an A+ Best Western"
mchaffieclan, 03 Mars 2018

This Best Western is directly across from the airport. If traffic is bad they will shuttle you to or from the airport. It is a superb property with beautiful pool. The restaurant is superb as well. Breakfast is wonderful full of fresh fruits etc.

"Great airport stays"
Brent M, 28 Février 2018

We stayed at the Best Western Las Mercedes Managua on three different occasions on a two week trip. The first was the night we arrived, the second was the night before we flew to the Corn Islands and the third was the night before we flew out. The hotel is right across the street from the airport. The first time we flew in we were waiting to pick up our luggage when we saw a guy walking around looking for "anybody staying the Best Western" We went with him, he helped with the luggage and lead us out to where the van picked us and other passengers up and took us across the street to the hotel. The ride isn't totally necessary because there is a crosswalk but you do have to remember that in Nica the pedestrian does NOT have the right of way so you are either dashing across the street or waiting for a break in traffic on a major hiway. Our rooms were always nice but my biggest complaint is that they would tell you your room number and then send you on your way with no directions as to where your room was. And this hotel has many rows of many rooms with not all of them marked. We needed to ask where the room was every time. I think they need a hotel map to hand out with your room keys. We only got to have breakfast one day because our flights were very early the other two times we stayed but the breakfast was good the time we had it. And there is also a breakfast table they set up at midnight if you do have an early flight so you can grab a pastry and coffee. We did get to go to the pool on one afternoon and it is really nice. There are actually two pools but we chose the one by the bar. In fact the pool bar is a great place to meet fellow travellers to share stories and advice. Funny thing is that as Canadians most of the other travellers we ran into were fellow Canucks. Drinks at the pool bar are reasonable (although more than in the rest of the country) and they have the full restaurant menu. Service at the pool bar is excellent. On the day we were leaving we decided that we needed to take home some Nica Flor de Cana rum and that the price and selection at the gas station was too high so we asked and they found us a driver to take us to the nearest Pali grocery store so we could buy some rum to pack in our luggage. I would recommend the stay here for anybody that needs to fly in or our of Managua.

"The only hotel you really need in Managua"
Carl D, 23 Février 2018

If you are flying into Managua on your way to somewhere else, which I imagine applies to 90% of foreigners, just walk across the street from the airport and stay here before your transfer or the night before your flight home. It's not the Ritz, but the breakfast is free, the rooms are ok, and you'll save money on cabs. And you can walk to your gate from the lobby.

"Great location"
beansbiker2016, 20 Février 2018

We stayed here for one night before an early flight home. The location can not be beat-it is literally across the street from MGA. And yes you can walk across-there is a light. Allowed us to drop our car rental off late afternoon when we arrived and not have to worry about doing it in the morning and having to use up time then. The rooms are basic but decent by North American standards. Ours was in a row where there was just two rooms next to each other in almost "cabin" like units. Shower was hot and strong, wifi worked, AC worked, bed was reasonable. (unlike some of Nicaragua!) The pool area is nice and you can have a meal or drink beside it. Felt like we were kinda back to North America a little early. All in all a great last night destination after your adventures in Nicaragua....

"Good for a quick stay"
alyssaandgreg1018, 18 Février 2018

We stayed here for one night upon arriving to Nicaragua....it was nice to have a clean room and shower before the long drive west. The rooms are laid out very close together so you can hear everyone walking around and wheeling their suitcases at all hours. Luckily we were too exhausted to pay much attention. Rooms were clean and front desk staff was friendly and spoke English. The restaurant next door was a bit over-priced for what it was, but we were too tired to venture into town. Very close to the airport and an easy walk or complimentary shuttle across to the terminal. Would recommend for a quick stay to get your rest before traveling farther into Nica.

"Not the Las Mercedes of old...."
parrotheadnica, 10 Février 2018

About 15 years ago, I stayed a time or two at Las Mercedes, and after those experiences, I avoided it until now. I am glad I gave it another chance, as it's vastly improved. The old layout is the same, and you can see shades of the old Las Mercedes, but the rooms are clean, fairly well lit, have the usual amenities, and the meal I had in the restaurant was fine. Service at the front desk was quick, as was the service in the restaurant. The only thing I can think of to improve is water pressure in the shower, but that's really a first world problem, isn't it? At least the water was hot!

"Don't let them book you in the old section of the hotel!"
CindyCC2015, 07 Février 2018

OK. I have stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions. It could be a really nice place to stay if......if the breakfast was better (My evening meal was pretty good), they had a kiddy pool for the young ones, and the check in process was more streamlined. Also the hotel is sooooooo large that I found my room difficult to find and getting to and from the main areas is maize like. They also need to cater to wedding celebrations away from the rooms. Although happy for the newly married couple we had to listen to their party until after 2:00 AM. This would not have been so terrible had we not had to catch a 6:00 AM flight. I won't stay here again unless forced to. Sorry. P.S. I was happy to see they had updated and refurbished some of the exterior areas. This could be a nice place. Has potential.

"Good experience"
Allison B, 31 Janvier 2018

It was a nice hotel, and the highlight of it was definitely the food. It was excellent, and the rooms were comfortable. However, at one point my key was not working, nor my roommate's key, so I went to the front desk. It took 3 or 4 visits before they stopped trying to refresh the code and actually sent someone to our room to help us. It was a long walk, so not the greatest customer service.

"Nicer than most Best Westerns"
Bernetta A, 27 Janvier 2018

For starters, The Good: This place is walking distance from the airport; however, they provide a shuttle. It really has a decent breakfast buffet which includes fresh eggs, fresh creme, pork belly bacon, sausage, rice and beans, two juice options, custom omelets, bread selections, just to name a few. The breakfast outdoor sitting area is very peaceful although very close to the road. They play American romance movie theme songs. The grounds are amazing. There is even a VERY nice covered area for event, maybe a wedding. There are two pool areas. The rooms are nice and cozy. It is great for a girls weekend. The staff is almost overly polite. The tv has at least one English channel. I stayed in two separate rooms. I checked out and returned the next day. The rooms were very clean. There are a few side of the road restaurants the locals use along with a few shops within one mile of the facility. There is also a Subway in that area. The airport had restaurants including McDonalds. The bar has good food as well. No one ask for tips. Remember $1 is 38 Cordobas. Go ahead and tip the people. $20 USD will feed you a week if you eat at the local restaurants. The facility is constantly being cleaned. The Bad: Most of the staff has the worst English. I asked for a face cloth and I kept receiving a full sized body towel to shower with. The hot water is horrendous. You can not drink the hotel's water and they have a sign on the sinks reminding you. The bottled water they provide is hot and slimy. You can't ask for ice, because it is made with the water. If I can't drink the water can I swim or shower in it? I am still stressing over that concept. No pool for me. Shower time limited. My skin has pores. The bar food is overpriced and charged in USD. The car service is VERY expensive. Take your drivers license, passport, and a major credit card and rent a car for the weekend for under $100 usd. On my second day I woke up to hammering. Why are you hammering before 8am? They do not apply you points to your BW account nor do they except company discount codes. The good really outweighs the bad. It is really clean. Bring your own water (there is a gas station right down the street. You can get a case for less than $2 usd. The price is awesome. I will come back again. Things to Remember: Get bottled water, have you own face cloth (wash cloth/wash rag), local food is down the street to the right of the hotel past the first gas station.

"Better Options Elsewhere"
Vagabondgirl, 23 Janvier 2018

We stayed one night before an early morning flight. You can't beat the location- we walked across the street to the airport. The room was clean but sparse, had a few little oddities- a coffee maker with two instant coffee packets, no hand towels or glasses in the bathroom, a safe that didn't work, a desk staff that didn't answer the phone, etc...Totally not big deals, but little things just add up. The real kicker was the lack of hot water. I know the hotel has been under renovations but the lack of hot water is inexcusable at this price point. We'll be back in Managua next month and will stay elsewhere.

"It was ok"
PamelaFloyd, 22 Janvier 2018

Convenient. Terrible food for terribly expensive prices. Cold pool. They told me they would wash and dry my sweatshirt and give it back the same evening. I wrote clearly on the bag. I ended up leaving without it and had to buy one at the airport. Beds are comfy although it can be a bit noisy depending on where they put you.

"So convenient to the airport. Always very good service!"
ChristineCarla, 17 Janvier 2018

I have stayed at the Las Mercedes Best Western on 21 times in the past 8 years and I have always enjoyed my stay there. The rooms on the main halls are excellent and offer full size and king size beds with amenities that include iron, ironing boards, safes, full length mirrors and hair dryers. The back rooms by the smaller swimming pool, offer up to 3 beds per room and are a bit more rustic. The breakfast is included in the cost of the room and their breakfast buffet is excellent with plenty of fresh fruit, juices, dry cereals, beans and rice, either bacon or sausage or both, plantains, beans and rice, sometimes french toast, made to order eggs and made to order omelets, pastries, and toast. The wait staff serves coffee and tea at the table. The waiter, Jose, has always been so very kind to me and the group of people I travel with. The chef who makes the omelets is always so pleasant. The general manager of the property, Roberto Cruz Sequeira is attentive and responsive. ALL of the food at Las Mercedes Best Western is 'safe' for us to eat, including the salad and fresh fruit. The selections on the dinner menu are excellent. I have never had a bad meal there.

"Great Renovations and Wonderful Guest Services"
Tim M, 16 Janvier 2018

This property has just finished a major renovation to the Lobby and Restaurant. They have stepped up their Guest Services and everyone we met was friendly and was willing to help in any way. The bartender found out I like fresh green coconut water with my Flor de Cana Rum and gave me a liter to take with me. Their complimentary breakfast is the best I have ever had at a Best Western property or any other branded property for that matter. The easy access to the airport and their shuttle made life easy when traveling with 3 surfboards. Roberto and Jairo should be proud of their staff, great job gentlemen.

"100 buck night on a 10 buck bed"
Moon M, 15 Janvier 2018

What a turd of a hotel.we were astonished at the poor quality of the bed.quite possibly a 30 year old mattress as we both sunk toward the middle . Very uncomfortable.this old hotel is overcharging .we changed our last night in Nicaragua to another hotel.

"Good Location Hotel"
Tracey W, 11 Janvier 2018

I needed a hotel close to the airport in Managua just for one night. This was the perfect location. We simply had to walk across the street and we were there. The pool was large and the kids enjoyed it. As close as we were to the street and the airport I don't remember hearing any noise. Our room was very close to the lobby and we could hear people coming and going with their luggage constantly. However the close proximity to the lobby and the front door made up for the noise. Getting to the airport was my main goal and staying here made that very easy.

"Great Location "
ERIC W, 10 Janvier 2018

I've stayed at this hotel probably 50 times over the past 12 years. They've recently done a lot repairs and remodeling. The restaurant and lobby area are really nice. They've made some significant improvements in the rooms as well. It's a great hotel if you have an early flight. I normally walk across the street to the airport at 5:00 am and check in and then walk back to the hotel for breakfast, instead of waiting at the airport for two hours The breakfast buffet makes it worth the higher price.

"Great airport location!"
User, 06 Janvier 2018

It is what it is, does have two nice pools rooms were clean and had great air conditioning and hot water. Not fabulous for its ambiance but works great for the location. Pool side food was horrible and the staff were not really on top of things. However the restaurant closest to the main lobby was well appointed and had great service. If you need a hotel close to airport this is the one, especially if you are traveling with small children.

"Great airport location"
Judith C, 05 Janvier 2018

This hotel is just fine for those in transit. It is a short walk across the highway to and from the airport and even has a free shuttle. I have stayed there often. It is comfortable, has a pool that stays open late, and a full breakfast in the morning. It is not a place to stay if you plan to spend several days in Managua as it is not near anything but the airport.

"Great for what we needed."
brokencircle, 03 Janvier 2018

We stayed one night here as we got in late and were flying back out to Corn Island the next day. We walked across the busy highway at 11pm and had no problem just look twice. Room was clean, shower was hot, breakfast was great and room was quiet. Our flight wasn't until 2:00 the next day so they let us stay in our room beyond checkout. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again in same situation.

"Perfect post or pre flight hotel"
schlegal1, 31 Décembre 2017

We just needed a place to stay when we arrived late night into Managua. The location is ideal, across the highway from the airport. You could walk but if you call the hotel the shuttle gets you so you don't have to deal with carrying bags across a highway at night, which seems like an invitation for disaster. Actually, the shuttle was waiting when our flight arrived but our luggage didn't make the connection. So we had to take some more time in the airport and the shuttle went ahead with the other people who were ready to go. We just called the hotel when ready and it came right back for us. So the delayed luggage was a pain, but the desk made sure we had the toiletries we needed, including toothbrushes and toothpaste. I liked the layout of the hotel--its outdoor corridors felt open and pleasant. Our room was quiet and comfortable. A/C worked well. WiFi was fast as well. The restaurant is large enough to accommodate everyone at breakfast and the breakfast is fantastic. Omelette station, fruit, coffee, tea, juice. Great staff in there, too. We only needed it for one night but I would happily stay there again if needed.

"Cold showers, mosquitos in room, loud booming disco music and little sleep!"
JOY Z, 13 Décembre 2017

This hotel provided cold showers, loud booming disco music playing until 11 pm, and mosquitos in the room. There was a large gap open to the outdoors between the front door and the door frame, through which mosquitos could easily enter. I am now covered in mosquito bites and itching like crazy, all received on my last night in Nicaragua in this hotel room. I would think that Best Western would take more care to prevent their customers from being potentially exposed to serious diseases such as Dengue Fever and Zika virus. We stayed here to get a good night's sleep before an early flight out of the country, which was impossible due to the very loud noise. Management refused to quiet the music after we brought it to their attention. After our cold showers, I spoke to the front desk person who said they were aware that their water heater was broken, and he advised me to shower at a non-popular time if I wanted hot water. I tried it again at 5 am the next morning, and it was still completely cold.

"Avoid at all costs"
daviddP334LW, 05 Décembre 2017

Avoid this hotel if you possibly can. Faulty internet, no hot water, didn´t get the room I reserved, exterior door had a crack big enough to see in from the outside. No hand towels in the bathroom, lobby under construction. And I could go on....

"Lovely hotel!"
jennye0201, 03 Décembre 2017

Wonderful hotel! Conveniently located across the street from the airport. Very pretty with lots of greenery. I enjoyed the huge pool, the gym, bar and restaurant! I stay here each time I visit Nicaragua! I highly recommend it.

"Good location"
Fideltraveler_17, 22 Novembre 2017

I stayed two nigts in this Hotel for a private conference. This hotel has a very good location just in front of the Main Airport Agusto Cesar Sandino in Managua, breakfast was include in the room rate, and this was so good, you can choose whatever you want, There are two pools, one in front of the bar which is nicer, other good thing about this place is that you have complementary access to the Gym, you can just open with your Keys´ room, one negative point was that upon arrival they did not take me to the room, they just talked is room 63 and I was like ¿? I did not receive a map from them, but I figured out, apart from that was good, staff are so helpful and professional there!

"Dirty, ant infested and resembled a prison"
Q9741VFtimr, 20 Novembre 2017

Nothing that a non-prisoner would enjoy. Stay here only if you are totally out of other options. Trust me on this... While the staff was pleasant and professional, the room really, really sucked. I was entirely surprised that Best Western would allow conditions like this to represent their name.

"Excellent staff, great location for stop overs."
WindowLes, 19 Novembre 2017

The hotel was clean and the staff are excellent. Even the staff who don't speak English were friendly and helpful. I was very impressed by the service. I ate breakfast in the restaurant and lunch at the poolside bar, both were great.

"Perfect location across from airport"
Miriam H, 26 Octobre 2017

Love this hotel. I stay here every time I have an extra day flying into or out of Managua. Grounds are lovely, breakfast that comes with the room is wonderful, and their gift shop with items from Nicaraguan artisans is a plus.

"Horrible food!"
Kay P, 17 Octobre 2017

Have stayed at the Best Western Las Mercedes at least 20 nights because of the location. The breakfast is also good. Love the omelet man. The rooms are so so. They are remodeling the public areas. With the new dining room complete thought they would step up the dinner. Not so just had the worst dinner ever. Fussili salad that tasted like wallpaper paste, Asian chicken soup that was creamed chicken soup with a quarter cup of salt and about 3 ciltanro leaves. Gave up on dinner and got flan which was pretty good.

"Great stop going and coming from the airport."
john d, 10 Octobre 2017

While this hotel is undergoing renovations it is still a great choice if you need to spend the night near the airport. The rooms are large, beds are comfortable and restaurant is good for a regular meal and the breakfast buffet that comes with the room is fantastic.

"Across the street from the Managua airport"
Timothy N, 06 Octobre 2017

Very conveniently located a short walk across the (busy) street from the airport. The breakfast and restaurant by the pool had great food. It was very quiet but we were there in the rainy season. The room was very comfortable and the A/C worked well for my wife who doesn't like the heat/humidity.

"Perfect After Late Night Flight into Managua"
D6126FWheatherf, 29 Septembre 2017

Perfect After Late Night Flight into Managua. Definitely good as a travel transition for someone accustomed to North American Hotels and unfamiliar with Latin America. There is air conditioning which is a nice novelty in this area. The regularly running shuttle that does not appear to require much planning is very helpful. All staff are friendly and professional. Perfect After Late Night Flight into Managua.

"Las Mercedes Best Western, Nicaragua"
CarolSpringfieldIL, 25 Septembre 2017

I highly recommend staying at this Best Western. They are remodeling and making some great changes. The staff who work here are the best. They greet you warmly upon arrival, It is very clean. The restaurant is the best and the servers kind and patient. The menu is extensive. Be sure to try the breakfast. Cesar will make you an omelet however you like.

"Overcharged"
jakesK6879YF, 24 Septembre 2017

Accidentally booked a double room for one person, but was for me and my daughter. When I arrived with two people, they charged me an additional $30 for the second person, even though the room already had 2 beds. I had to pay but immediately went to the website to check. I booked the same night, same room with TWO people and the price was the same - not $30 more. The receptionist was rude and acted like I was trying to rip HIM off......it was the other way around. The Hotel is the same as its been for 20 years. They are going through a big remodel so it doesn't look very nice. Rooms are clean and the access to the airport for an early morning flight is the ONLY reason you would stay here.

"Awful.....THE WORST WESTERN EVER!"
CentralAmericaRover2, 30 Août 2017

The only thing this "Worst Western" has going for it is location which is directly opposite the airport. The room was not clean and there were mites in the bathroom. The food in the restaurant was not edible (I can eat almost anything when hungry but, after a few famished bites, I found it impossible not to spit out the horrible "stuff" that was served.

"Very nice and so convenient to airport!"
txchiquita22, 26 Août 2017

We arrived in Managua at midnight and went straight to the hotel across the street. They have several security guards and found that if you do not have your room key, you will NOT be admitted on the grounds to park securely! Which made our driver frustrated, but I was happy to see that attention to safety. He found the key, and we found our rooms to be very comfortable. We slept 3 to a room, There was plenty of room and the closet was spacious and bathroom adequate. Our friends had a slight issue with the A/C in their room dripping on someone's head all night, but ours was not positioned over a bed. In the morning it was glorious to walk outside around the grounds on our way to the restaurant which serves a great buffet. For dinner we had very tasty dishes. A very pleasant stay!

"Won't stay here again"
fish3d, 24 Août 2017

I only spent one night. I picked the hotel because of it's proximity to the airport and knew I would be arriving late and leaving by 4 am the following day. I gave the review two stars because the staff deserves a star and because you can walk across the street to the airport. The food here is just plain horrible. I was traveling with a friend and neither of us could finish our meals. I had chicken ??? hoping that it might be relatively neutral but it was rubber. My friend had pasta and the sauce was junk. Again the staff was great, food horrendous. My bathroom sink was covered in tiny little mites but it was so late when I finally got to the room and I was leaving in about 6 hours for airport I didn't even bother to report and change rooms. Room was tiny but did have two separate twin sized beds as advertised. The wake-up call was a knock on the door.

"The Best Restaurant near the Airport"
D K, 21 Août 2017

We stopped by the restaurant for dinner at Best Western Hotel which is directly across from the Managua airport. The restaurant must be renovated recently and it is very spacious, very clean and modern bathroom. Our group ordered a variety of entre from the menu and without prior reservation, the restaurant was able to serve at a very swiftly. Surprisingly, all the dishes were very good in terms of quality and tastes.

"Clean, Wonderful Staff"
Christa B, 21 Août 2017

We stayed one night so we could catch our flight the next day. The staff was very nice, rooms very clean, nice HOT water! That is a plus when traveling around the area. Very nice "little" gift shop for souvenirs. They have a lot of choices but the store is hard to move around. Still everything was wonderful. Enjoyed our stay and would do it again. Beautiful grounds, as well to walk around or sit outside your room on a bench.

"Slipped a bit"
Steve E, 16 Août 2017

You cannot beat the location for easy access to the airport, but at 6 in the morning, whatever hot water there should have been was gone. They put me in a room with two beds as the rooms with one bed were sold out and gave me a very fair price. The lights that shone right outside the room made sleep difficult for me. The shower had cracked tiles and the shower head was stuck pointing directly down. I will choose one of tne many botique hotels next time.

"Like staying at an airport hotel"
365jeanneh, 14 Août 2017

This hotel is directly across from the airport. Extremely convenient for early morning flights. Shuttle takes you to the airport. They are in the process of remodeling. Best breakfast buffet. If you don't have time, then take it to go for your flight.

"Pleasantly surprised"
hjd1984, 14 Août 2017

We didn't have high expectations given we picked this for convenience but we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms are basic but decent for a night's stay with a large bed and good aircon and wifi. There was a wide selection of options for breakfast to suit all tastes including cooked-to-order omelettes. The 2 pools were also great to chill out in and well maintained. We did use the free pick-up service from the airport even though we could easily have crossed the road ourselves. Recommend this if you've never been to Nica before and have luggage.

"Good location that´s all"
Imoreno1167, 10 Août 2017

The place has great location just in front of the airport, but don´t be fool by it, the check out process was as slow as it can be, at least for me was. The noice of the street, mosquitos in the room, no hot water and the overall experince is not worth it.

"Lousy reception staff"
proud2bnica, 03 Août 2017

We had a wonderful time at the hotel, we are extremely satisfied with the room, the food was excellent, the gardens are great. The housekeeping, groundkeepers and restaurant staff are the best of the best; however, the reception staff were rude and unfriendly, including their manager. I must say that the general manager is a gem and if it wasn't for him I would say this place sucks! I've stayed at this hotel for many years and I was shocked that this new staff don't even smile or say "welcome to our hotel". I would have rated them 5 but for now I will give them a 4.

"Quick stay in Managua"
wavesandwine, 31 Juillet 2017

This is your basic Best Western, nothing over the top, but a fine and perfectly located hotel for a quick stop over in Managua. If you need to stay overnight to catch an early flight this is directly across the street from the Managua airport. The grounds are perfectly manicured and the rooms are set up in bungelow style row of rooms. It is clean and easy to access. I use this hotel every time I need a quick overnight in Managua. They are renovating and investing in the common areas which is a nice upgrade from when I first visited in August of 2014.

"Unexpected Delight"
northstategal, 28 Juillet 2017

Beautiful hotel and grounds right across from the airport with free shuttle. (You take your life in your hands if you try to cross the street on foot.) For being right across an extremely busy street from the airport, it was amazingly quiet.

"Very good staying"
PauloUeti, 23 Juillet 2017

I was there for one night only, passing by on the route to Panama. It is very well located, just across the street in front of airport. The hotel has pick up service, which I was not expecting, and it was nice. It is a huge compound with day-use service as well. The room is good, with good space and great shower. The restaurant is nice and reasonable with prices. I do recommend specially if you need time because staying in downtown is very crazy due traffic jams all the time. The service was very good. I recommend.

"Comfort and good attentions in front Managua airport"
Gaviota_999, 23 Juillet 2017

I stayed in this hotel for a few days for meetings. They offered a well-equipped conference room. The hotel is located right in front of the airport which makes it convenient for big groups and even individuals spending the night right after their arrival or prior departure if it is early. They also offer free drop/pick up to/from airport and breakfast. It has two swimming pools, small gym, beauty salon and massage services. I had a nice manicure. Room service is very efficient and the hotel is very, very clean. The restaurant is spacious, staff very attentive and respectful; the food is good for affordable price. I requested a quieter room and they were very accommodating. By the way, if you want a noise free room, ask for a room without the communicating door to the next one room. Rooms have all you need and appliances worked just perfectly. Something I loved is the green environment with gardens, very relaxing. Something that I would suggest is to add some color to the gardens and some renovation/decoration to the lobby to make it friendlier and cozier.

"Proximity to Airport + Breakfast Are Strengths"
YetAnotherTraveler, 21 Juillet 2017

The BW Las Mercedes is close to the airport. Like, literally across the street. The shuttle takes more time to load than to arrive at the airport. The hotel is different than most, with individual buildings offering around 4-20 rooms. Walkways are covered to protect from any rain. There are two distinct building types. The closest to the lobby are longer buildings with more rooms per building. Those furthest away are in smaller pods. I've stayed in both, and prefer those closer to the lobby (they are in the yellow buildings). Those further away are nice (white buildings), though it can be a long walk. The white buildings are undergoing renovations, so some are new and more trendy, and others are yet to be updated. During our stay, the remodeling was in full effect and went on until about 7pm at night. Given most walls are concrete, there's a lot of pounding and tile cutting. Our room was renovated, and was more modern. Beds were comfortable. Yet, we could not have been further from the lobby and restaurant. The restaurant is nice for a lunch or dinner, and reasonably priced. Meal quality was above average, but nothing too special. The breakfast buffet was nice, with an omelette station and lots of hot sides and fruit. The line can get backed up, though the staff works quickly and efficiently. It would be nice to have some prepared scrambled eggs for those in a hurry. The hotel has a nice pool, though given it's more of a business/travel hotel, it's not often utilized. The lobby is in a multi-year renovation project, so good things are coming. In the meantime, a temporary check-in area gets the job done. Kudos to the BW LM team - they've been renovating the hotel for years, and the quality of the renovations are nice. Parts of the hotel are tired, though the renovations seem to be improving the entire property bit by bit. If you are looking for a quick stop near the airport, you simply can't get any closer than the BWLM. You'll have a comfortable sleep.

"walking distance "
gineer, 18 Juillet 2017

You don't need the shuttle for this hotel (unless you have a lot of luggage), you can literally cross the street and you are in the lobby. It is set up as a series of individual chalets, and has the look of an army barracks. The food was pretty good and breakfast is included with your room. There is also a nice pool. If you're hoping for a quiet getaway this is not the place for you as the busy road right outside is full of honking trucks and cars until late into the night and also there are many arriving and departing aircraft at Sandino airport

"Ideal airport location"
Patricia C, 12 Juillet 2017

We spent our first and last night in Nicaragua there. You literally just have to cross the road to get to the airport, it's very convenient. The place is very comfortable, despite the fact that they choose the worst times to treat the pool. I wasn't able to use it either morning I was there. There is an excellent breakfast buffet and a nice bar by the pool. Prices are reasonable. The rooms are standard, clean, and reasonably quiet. The airport isn't too busy, so plane noise isn't an issue.

"It's Just Location!!"
Alejandro E, 11 Juillet 2017

Not a typical Best Western Hotel Brand..poor service..rooms were very small..food was mediocre..and did I mentioned that service was bad..the only good thing this hotel has to offer it's that is right across from the airport. I will not be recommending this hotel, they need a major make-over..

"convenient location is the redeeming factor"
Nicole G, 09 Juillet 2017

It used to be my favourite place to stay travelling in and our of Nicaragua. And in the last 8 years we were treated very well and the rooms were lovely. But starting 2 years back, no matter how early i booked, we would always be put in the "back rooms" which are not as luxurious as the front ones, yet the price was the same. The restaurant staff is as friendly as ever. But i no longer feel i get my money's worth and actually prefer to pay the same price to get a taxi straight to Masaya or wherever i need to go.

"Not what we expected at a Best Western"
2skidivers, 08 Juillet 2017

We needed a room near the airport for an early departure the next day. All we wanted was a king size bed and a hot shower and the shuttle to the airport and we would have been happy. But when we checked in, they gave us a room with 3 single beds even though our reservation confirmed a king size bed. After going to the room, we returned to the front desk and asked the manager for a different room and were told that was the only one available and it was only about 5 PM. The room was small with thin curtains that let in the light from the hallway. When we took a shower, it took a long time to get hot water and then it became scalding hot. Tried to adjust it and it got cold again. It was impossible to get a comfortable water temperature. The only reason this is not rated poor is because the hotel was very convenient to the airport and the shuttle was available when we needed it at 4AM. Message to management: If you cannot provide the room on he reservation, at least tell the guest when you give them the room key so we don't have to come back after we find you didn't give us the type of room we wanted. You can also apologize and offer either a discount or a voucher for food/drink. This experience soured us on the entire Best Western Chain

"Convenient location, Free airport shuttle"
nbcaudill, 05 Juillet 2017

Located directly across the street from the airport. Free airport shuttle available anytime, all you have to do is request it 5 minutes prior to the time you wish to depart. The staff speaks English, and are very accommodating. I had arrived after a long day of traveling across the country, and the man at reception ordered a pizza for me over the phone so I didn't have to bother with understanding their Spanish. Everyone was very kind! The room was nice; comfy beds, hot water, and a coffee maker. I didn't get to try the breakfast options, nor the pool. Free wi-fi that functions well.

"Outstanding Setting - Excellent Property"
Don Z, 30 Juin 2017

Racking up well over 1.2 million BW points and years on the road this is an excellent property. Loved the settting in the middle of the trees and nature. Very well maintained, clean and well kept. Staff was excellent as we did not speak Spanish. Restraunt food was excellent. Located across the street from the airport was a bonus. Very professsionally managed. Hats off to the manager and their staff. A great way to end our vacation. THANK YOU.

"Great location to airport"
93dwightw, 19 Juin 2017

Perfect location to stay when arriving late to or leaving early from Managua. The continental breakfast leaves much to be desired and the music at the poolside bar is generally too loud. The rooms however are clean and quiet.

"Convenient place to stay"
rusalgado, 17 Juin 2017

I stayed with my family on a trip to Managua. The location is very convenient right in front of the Airport. The room was clean but it felt really small for the two beds and the price. The food at the restaurant was very good. The location is worth 4 stars

"Worth the Wait..."
J8273LXpatriciab, 16 Juin 2017

I love my holiday start in this Hotel every year for 12 years now!! Love staying when I leave too!! Best breakfast, great service, super clean! I would recommend. I can't say any more! Kids had fun. Dinner was very nice, and I loved the typical Nica Steak dinner!

"Small room. HORRID restaurant "
scarabrose81, 06 Juin 2017

Small rooms but clean. Pool is delightful. Don't go to the "new restuarant" the worst food I've had in Nicaragua. So bland no flavor. Overbaked TV dinner would be better. Staff lacking in efficiency been waiting for the check for 25 plus minutes . No Beuno

"Perfect for an early morning flight..."
jartrob, 03 Juin 2017

Stayed here to be close to the airport (the hotel is directly across the street and the shuttle service begins at 4:00 am) (it takes 45 seconds to get to the airport). The rooms/bungalows were clean and quiet. An easy, convenient place.

"Convenient to airport"
crocuslover, 29 Mai 2017

This is a place to stay if you need to be near the airport. When we arrived, they struggled to find our reservation, and needed our paper confirmation which was disconcerting. We stayed for one night prior to an early morning departure. We had time in the evening to enjoy the pools and poolside restaurant service. The pool water in the small pool was cloudy which tells me it was not super clean. Our lunch was good - pollo a la plancha - served piping hot! Lots of flies though... We needed a taxi to go to dinner and the hotel has taxi drivers who will take you to a restaurant and wait until you are finished. We paid $20 for this service and our driver was named Ivan. He was super friendly and I was very grateful for his service. Rooms are air conditioned and beds are comfortable. Noise from the hallways (which are open air) can be very loud as there are tile floors and nothing to deaden the sound. I wore ear plugs at night. Again, this hotel serves a purpose in that it is across the street from the airport. On-going shuttles to the airport at all hours.

"You won't be dissappointed!"
BluefieldsGal, 14 Mai 2017

After having to fly to Nicaragua unexpectedly, I spent a night at the BWLM. I was extremely surprised by this hotel and its staff. Everyone was extremely friendly and professional. Upon my arrival at the airport, I contacted the hotel so that I could be picked up. Within 10 minutes I was at their front desk. Check in was quick but i had to wait for my room and since I was quite hungry, I had a meal at the restaurant. I thought the quality of the food was descent but the meal was pretty expensive. I had the Nicaraguan meal, which includes a steak, fried cheese, ripe plaintains and rice and beans, with a water and dessert. Total was $27 which included a 10% tip. I have had this same meal in Miami, with a cocktail instead of water for a lesser price (tip included). I am not able to comment on the breakfast buffet, which is included in the price of your stay, since my flight left too early the next morning. The hotel does have WiFi but not a business center. If you need anything printed you have to send the documents to the front desk via e-mail and they will print it for you. This is quite inconvenient since you may have to wait awhile until they receive your e-mail and have to check more than once to see if it came through. I was quite pleased with the room. It was very clean, AC was cold and the bed was comfortable. I plan on returning soon and would definitely stay in the hotel.

"Great Property across the street from MGA airport"
Tim M, 14 Mai 2017

What a great property for all your needs while staying in Managua. This Best Western property is ideal for travelling in and out of the Country. The Las Mercedes offers a shuttle van to and from the airport which is great when you are traveling with lots of gear. Also when departing you can go check in at the airport and walk back across the street and relax in your room before your flight departs instead of being stuck in the airport. Las Mercedes has the best breakfast of any Best Western that I have ever stayed. I think this is the only Best Western that has a chief cooking fried eggs and omelets. The breakfast is a great value. They also have a pool bar, two swimming pools and many other amenities. The staff is friendly and attentive to your needs. Congratulations to Management and Staff.

"Las Mercedes Best Western, Nicaragua"
CarolSpringfieldIL, 26 Avril 2017

Las Mercedes BW is doing some major remodel and will be even better. We have been staying at the hotel whenever we travel in and our of Nicaragua and experienced some of the best service at check in/out, restaurant service and food, clean and comfortable rooms. A plus, the BW is across from the Managua International Airport and their shuttle service will pick you up. Highly recommend since the highway to cross to BW is heavily traveled.

"Not accommodating for families "
gregory b, 23 Avril 2017

Would strongly not recommend this Hotel. When you ask for a room with 3 single beds you expect that the quoted price is for three people. The service at the desk was horrible. Airport X Managua will get my business in the future.

"Stop over hotel"
rkglauser, 10 Avril 2017

Great place if you are in transit, friendly staff, good food and quick service. Stayed twice and had two different rooms, last one was much nicer than the first one for same price...!! Pretty nice pool area

"Look out for theives at the desk!"
kristinarichard, 07 Avril 2017

I was a part of a group but arrived at 11pm, they were not arriving until 2 am. We booked through Expedia (I know better but the reservation was booked for me) and the fact that I work at a Hotel I know how Expedia works. Well I tried to check in around 11:30 by myself and the front desk clerk said my reservation was not paid, that I needed to pay for my room. I knew this was a lie because it was paid for through Expedia but he REFUSED to allow me into my room unless I paid cash. So I demanded a receipt. It took 20 minutes to get a receipt and he showed where it had the amount I paid and folded it up and stuck it in an envelope. I left the next morning to Jinotega. Yes Expedia already charged the card for the room so the room was already paid for. He stole $100 from me. This happened in December 2016. When I looked at the receipt it was for October 2014. It had my name on it and that I paid cash but the date was wrong so he could get away with it. I absolutely loved this hotel the first time I was there. And the amenities are excellent. But this reason alone I will spend the extra 20 minutes to drive to the Hilton Princess (which is gorgeous and wonderful) instead of risk having my money stolen again. I only went there with $200 to spend so this experience really put a damper on the entire visit.

"Does what it should"
Mischa W, 06 Avril 2017

Ideal location for an overnight layover where you dont want to do much more than staying around the pool or sleep. We had our flight at 7am from Managua and just had to walk across the street. Else the hotel is a little loud (especially if you get a room facing the very busy main road).

"Bargain Hotel close to airport"
Nikatravlr, 02 Avril 2017

We have been going to this hotel for almost 30 years and this time it was the first time I saw it quite different then usual. They are renovating the front entrance so the new entrance is off to the side. The pool was quite dirty and the water cloudy. Perhaps the renovations will upgrade this place to what to its full potential.

"1 minute from the airport"
luc p, 01 Avril 2017

This is without a doubt the most convenient location in Managua, right across the street from the airport, you can actually walk to and from the airport. They have a great in house taxi service that will take you and wait for you wherever you want to go in Managua. A good restaurant and a spacious pool area. Rooms are clean and almost all renovated.

"One night turned into 3 nights with the Peace Corp "
Perrie M, 26 Novembre 2016

We spent our first 3 nights in Managua at the Best Western with the Peace Corp family due to hurricane Otto we had a great time. The restaurant was fabulous. Breakfast every morning was perfect and the entire hotel staff were excellent!

"Okay Hotel"
luv2trvl_11, 25 Novembre 2016

Our family stayed here for one night. As far as location and proximity to the airport is concerned, this place has all other beat - you can literally walk across the street and your are at the airport. There is a free hotel shuttle offered but if you can manage your own luggage it's just as easy to walk across. This hotel is set up very different from other hotels I've visited, there are many different buildings with rooms. The buildings furthest away from the main building (i.e. front office) have 3 twin beds in each room vs 2 double beds in the buildings closes to the main building. We had booked the 2 double bed rooms and instead were give rooms with 3 twin beds - we only found at after walking miles to the rooms (everything is very spaced out at this hotel). We had to wait around 20 minutes for the front desk to sort it out and move us to the rooms we had booked. There are two pools, one is substantially larger than the other but neither have great lighting at night. Overall the hotel met our needs however I wouldn't recommend this place for anything other than a 1 or 2 night stay when you are arriving from or leaving the city via the airport.

"Standard but friendly"
hotelstaff1234, 16 Novembre 2016

Room was extremely basic but expected. AC wasn't working but they sent a repair man immediately. Very good free breakfast and very helpful service. Directly across the street from the airport. Don't let any cab drivers tell you otherwise....

"Great Airport Stay"
Cfarley1, 13 Novembre 2016

This is a great hotel for an overnight stay near the airport! The hotel shuttle and proximity to the airport are unbeatable! Close, clean and convenient! The room service was delicious as well! If you are looking for a close to the airport stay I would recommend this hotel!

"Avoid at all cost"
Saiguefault, 12 Novembre 2016

I never write bad reviews, and have a pretty high tolerance for mistakes, but the experience I had with Best Western demands it. I booked this hotel for a night with my girlfriend before her flight back to London. At $110 for a night, this is truly a great expense, especially for Nicaragua. I chose this hotel because I wanted a stressless experience for her before her 18 hours transit back to London. This was anything but stressless. We arrived and the Airport shuttle was waiting for us, with the driver driving us straight to reception. This was the end of the pleasurable part of our experience with Best Western. After making us pay the concierge barely indicated to us the general direction to the room, and we had to haul our luggage ourselves to get there. We then tried to have a shower, but the hot water was not working. I called the concierge letting him know about the situation, and he said that he would send someone. 20 minutes later, and getting exasperated, I had to call him back, and still, offering no apology, he told me that he would send someone. A further 20 minutes later, getting really angry, we decided to go and make a complaint to the front desk, but on our way out we met the technician which then fixed the issue in another 20 minutes. After that, two hours after going to bed, my girlfriend was woken up as ANTS were crawling all over her. They were everywhere under her pillow and on her body. They had infested the bed, and it obviously wasn't a problem that formed during our mere two hours of sleep. She headed straight to the front desk, understandably angry, to complain to the concierge who, once again, told her that he would send someone. Finding that unacceptable, she had to push and demand for us to be given another room to sleep in, which should normally have been offered anyway. The concierge reluctantly accepted after a while and we were "moved" to another room (we had to carry all our luggage, once again, by ourselves, in the middle of the night, to the other room which we had to locate on our own). Needless to say, after all this, we neither slept enough nor well, and my girlfriend is now stressed and exhausted on a long-distance flight despite my investing a lot of money to avoid this very situation. After such a poor service and experience, we went to the concierge to complain about the whole situation and demand a partial refund, as the service we had paid for had clearly not been provided. He refused categorically to issue it, and barely offered us a discount on future stays, despite my saying repeatedly that we were staying here for our last night before going back home to England. Our complaints were met with nothing but complacency by the front desk staff and only after 10 minutes of complaining did he offer a basic apology, but no refund. He then promised us to take it up to his manager when she arrived in the morning to offer us a refund. A couple of hours later, she emailed us offering us once again a discount on future stays, showing no understanding to our situation. Avoid at all cost, there are many hotels in Managua which are way cheaper and cannot possibly offer a worse service than "Best" Western.

"Good nights sleep"
Kay P, 03 Novembre 2016

I have spent at least 20 nights at the Best Western Las Mercedes, not because it is nice, but it is so convenient. Never had a quiet night until last night. I stayed in room148. So very quiet! It is at the end of one of the long corridors, but well worth the walk. No one walks by talking or pulling luggage also no supply carts. I still like the omelette man.....

"Easy access prices ok good security"
rubicon, 03 Novembre 2016

I was met at the ai port as soon a i go off the plane. Shuttled across the street. Hotel is designed for gringos. Older hotel probably pretty fancy in its hey day. Buffet breakfast was good. There are better deals but this place is easy

"Spent one night, getting in late and leaving early, so did not experience all it had to offer."
mgdavis131, 01 Novembre 2016

Reception was good and rooms were well appointed, with comfy beds (maybe a little too soft if you have back trouble), a desk, and nice bathroom. Location was great to catch an early flight as we simply walked across the street to the airport. There was coffee and sweetbread available in the lobby in the morning (coffee makers in the rooms with instant coffee/tea and no cups). Rooms opened off wide open hallways and there was at least one garden-like courtyard.

"convenient"
R H, 31 Octobre 2016

Walk across the street to the airport, ( or if you are lazy, take the shuttle), clean rooms. ok restaurant , swimming pools kid friendly, good breakfast, strong internet, all good, and I find the hotel staff to be helpful and friendly, very safe!

"What a Unique Place"
1busymommanurse, 14 Octobre 2016

WOW!!!! What a unique place. As other travelers have mentioned, this is a renovated military base. The design is largely outdoors and boasts simply lovely grounds. The rooms are very clean, yet simple and the beds are quite comfortable; especially after a long flight. The staff are very accommodating and the restaurant has recently undergone a massive renovation. It is located RIGHT ACROSS the street from the airport; however, the air traffic noise is hardly noticeable. The air conditioning was a REAL relief. What a unique place.

"Right across the street from the airport..."
JohnKotula, 04 Octobre 2016

Las Mercedes is a big, spread out collection of cabana style rooms, connected by covered walkways and surrounded by gardens and swimming pools. It is efficiently run by a highly professional staff. I can't see any reason to stay here for more than a night or two, but if you are flying into or out of Managua you can't beat the convenience. It is right across the street from the airport. You can walk it, if you don't mind crossing a busy four lane road, or the hotel van runs all the time. Everything works: wifi, air conditioning, hot water, TV. The complimentary breakfast is excellent. It is a good transition point to take off from to see some of Nicaragua's really wonderful locations.

"Service Oriented"
bruchko, 04 Octobre 2016

We recently spent five nights at Las Mercedes. Apparently the hotel is a renovated military base. So the design of the hotel is unique - rows of "barracks" connected by covered, outdoor corridors. That may not sound appealing except that Best Western has done an exceptional job converting this former military base into a very cosy hotel complex with two outdoor pools, a large, shaded outdoor terrace, beautiful green foliage and an excellent restaurant. Everything is extremely clean and well maintained. The location can't be beat - it is literally across the road from the international airport. Early morning departures or late night arrivals are easy - simply walk across the road and you are at the airport. We received excellent service at the restaurant. The breakfast buffet opens at 6 AM (with some cold breakfast options available as early as 5:30 AM) with a selection of fresh fruits, cereals, toast, rolls, eggs and omelettes. The hotel doesn't look fancy but it does deliver excellent service. The hotel can arrange a taxi for hire and has a small gift shop that sells water, drinks and mementos. An ATM machine in the hotel lobby can be used to withdraw cash in local currency. The hotel accepts credit cards, US dollars or local currency.

"Very nice hotel with great location"
sportcat71, 02 Octobre 2016

Stayed here overbite before flying to blue fields. Beautiful grounds. Clean room. Great ac. Yummy breakfast. Staff friendly. Very nice pool which we all took advantage of. Would recommend for a short stay. :)

"best airport access"
Rhoda V, 02 Octobre 2016

If you are looking for a place to spend the night either when your plane arrives and you are waiting for transport to your vacation spot the next day, or when you are wanting a place to stay in Managua when you have an early flight the next day, Las Mercedes is the perfect spot. The hotel is clean, spacious, and well-managed with beautiful grounds, two lovely pools, a full-service restaurant and poolside bar service. The staff are professional and friendly, and the hotel is located directly across the Carretera Norte from the Managua airport, so you can either walk across with your luggage or take one of the hotels frequent and speedy shuttle buses. Most of the staff speak English well, and the complimentary breakfast is one of the best anywhere----fresh tropical fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, gallo pinto, assorted pastries, made-to-order omelets, homemade cheese, three kinds of fruit juice, cereal, fried plantains with cream, and plenty of good Nicaraguan coffee.

"Location, location, location!"
Nancy O, 20 Septembre 2016

We've stayed here a few times. Rooms vary a lot in size and decor. They have all been ok, some nicer than others. Ask for a room near the pool and the wifi should work in your room. The overall layout can be confusing, we had to ask for help the first time we stayed here to find our room. The breakfast buffet is fine, dinner options are marginal. The chicken with jalapeño salsa is ok. You can walk across the street to the airport, which is great and pretty much the only reason to stay here.

"Across Street From Airport!"
CharlieOrlando, 18 Septembre 2016

Only reason to stay here is you want/need to stay a night this close to the airport. It fulfills that criteria! It does have a restaurant that is open till 11 pm for late arrivals and a shuttle that starts at 4 am for early departures. I think I saw two swimming pools, one with a bar/grill, so could even kill a few daylight hours if need be. The hotel layout is interesting, i.e. odd, but the interiors of the rooms are perfectly comfortable. It is literally across the street from the airport, so if you don't have much luggage, you can walk. The shuttle seemed to make a continuous loop, so never a long wait.

"Convinient and cheap"
michaelschaeffer, 24 Août 2016

Opposite the Managua airport, Clean airco, satelite tv, big bathroom excellent breakfast included with egg-bar Two swimming pools, fitness room and pool side cocktail bar. There is free airport shuttle, so you dont have to cross the six lane street with your luggage Especially good if you land after dark in Managua airport and are in transit only

"Perfect Hotel Before or after a flight"
Howard P, 22 Août 2016

I stayed at this hotel before I flew home. It is a very well maintained hotel. Not a high rise hotel. Designed to fit on with the environment. Plenty of free parking, shuttle to the airport but you really don't need it because it is just across the street. An easy walk. My check in was okay. The staff is nice but not overly gracious. I had a nice room. The AC was perfect and the bed was very comfortable. The design of the hotel makes it a noisy hotel because people outside and around your room can be inconsiderate and loud. The pool is beautiful. They have a nice pool bar. I didn't feel very welcomed by the bar tenders. Just doing their job and not attempting to be real friendly. I also had dinner at the restaurant. It is one huge room with very bright lights. I had an asian coconut soup along with a steak sandwich. Both were good.

"Very nice hotel with beautiful grounds right across from the Airport"
Carolapf1, 19 Août 2016

Best Western Las Mercedes is right across from the Managua airport and super convenient with a free shuttle. You can let them know in advance and they will meet you in the baggage area with a sign with your name. The hotel is on beautiful grounds with large trees, pools, pool bar. It is actually historic, but modern rooms with air condition, really nice bathrooms, good beds and free Wifi, free water upon your arrival, most reservations come with the really elaborate breakfast, both Nica and North American in their new dining room or attractive patio if you want to be outside. We stayed at a cheaper rate via AARP and were in the slightly smaller rooms which are newly renovated and very attractive.

"Late flight"
Cpharris21, 13 Août 2016

I got back to Managua a day early. So I checked into the Best Western right across from the airport. I have to agree with other reviews that is quite noisy. The restaurant is very good with an Argentine style theme and small but good breakfast buffet that was included with the room. Besides the noise my main issue was that they would not allow me a late check-out. My flight does not leave until in the evening and they told me I would have to pay for an extra night stay.

"Nice Hotel but NOISY"
Stephanie H, 10 Août 2016

The rooms are clean, the hotel is pretty and it is extremely convenient to the airport. However there are many large groups here and they can't help but be noisy. We were kept awake until 1 AM by a group outside of our room. We requested a quiet room (and waited 1.5 hours for it to be cleaned) but that did not make a difference. If you can sleep through noise then this is a fine place to stay, otherwise I would stay elsewhere.

"Nice treat"
septsunseeker, 08 Août 2016

I was amazed that this hotel was so large. It appears to just be a small lil roadside hotel across from the airport. It's really a large compound that host beautiful pools and pool side restaurants and bars. The room was super clean and the bed was very comfortable. AC was just what the doctor ordered and helped me sleep like a baby. I was able to safely and comfortably walk myself to the airport in the morning, however that do have a shuttle service that picked me up from the airport. Would highly recommended staying at this facility.

"Fine for an Airport Stay"
NorthernAlberta2, 06 Août 2016

The hotel is fine for an overnight stay because it is so close to the airport. They provide free shuttle to/from the airport but you have to contact the hotel in advance. This is no problem. Breakfast is included and is fine. The facility is very large and has at least 2 pools, an outdoor bar, and an indoor restaurant. The rooms we had were very clean, had hot water, and air conditioning. Customer service is lacking overall. The price of drinks and food is very expensive, as is the cost of the hotel for what you get. Service at the outdoor bar was very poor.

"NO HOT WATER! NO COFFEE IN LOBBY!"
awyeth, 05 Août 2016

Good Grief. Go buy a hot water heater. Room 163 had no hot water. Also no coffee in lobby. What modern hotel has no coffee in the morning. Room was fine. Air conditioning was very cold. Beds were clean.

"I keep staying there"
Onesimo F, 04 Août 2016

Well, I have been to Managua several times now and Hotel Las Mercedes continue to be just an excellent hotel where I feel home. Managua is sometimes hot, but this hotel rooms are so comfortable, food is so good and the people who work there are just great and nice, and very very respectful...I ´m not interested in exploring other options as this hotel is across the street from the airport...just great...

"Comfortable and clean"
Tonsoffuntravel, 21 Juillet 2016

Check in was easy. My key card didn't work initially but the porter ran and got me another. My room was exceptionally clean. There is air conditioning. I didn't have any hot water in the shower. Still, I enjoyed my one night stay before my flight out.

"An amazing hotel"
Phyllis H, 21 Juillet 2016

Staying in this hotel was an amazing experience for me. I absolutely loved the surroundings, the beautiful flowers and shrubs; loved the lay out of the rooms it reminded me of a resort in Bermuda that I visited several years ago. There were covered areas and open areas, private areas and public areas. The restaurant served an out of this world breakfast--lots of fresh fruits (best pineapple ever), omelets to order, muffins, croussiants...I also had dinner here--the spinach cannelloni was delicious. But it's always about the people. They were very accommodating. The manager, Mr. Cruz, assisted us in our travel plans around Nicaragua and was extremely hospitable. Honestly, I don't know why anyone flyng into Managua would stay anywhere else. It is across the street from the airport, the service was excellent, the food delicious and the people were friendly and helpful. Phyllis Rhode Island (USA)

"Close to airport"
Whitney M, 21 Juillet 2016

If you need a hotel that is nice and near the airport then Las Mercedes is the one for you. Restaurant was delicious and had a very large property. Landscaping was beautiful and had lots of amenities.

"Best airport hotel"
Jokenmom, 13 Juillet 2016

We stayed here the night before our early morning flight on December 31, 2015. There is a pool for the kids, a small pool side restaurant, reasonably priced and directly across from the terminal. Not for a long stay but perfect for one night on either end of a long flight. We actually experienced an earth quake in the hotel on the morning of our flight so will not forget our stay :).

"Worst stay in 10+ years of travel"
Jim W, 13 Juillet 2016

In a word -- look for another hotel. Rude staff which gave incorrect information. Spider web above the bed. Noisy hallway in middle of the night. Staff could not even print boarding passes correctly. Not up to Best Western standards.

"Like trying to sleep in a bowling alley."
Temblor8, 12 Juillet 2016

Unfortunately, due to hotel design, this place is extremely noisy. I asked for a "quiet room" but probably got under an hour in total sleep due to the constant hallway noise (talking, doors slamming, and rolling bags on tile hallway) and noise of airplanes overhead. Best Western is trying hard with this property. The staff were helpful, the beds super comfy, the room well appointed, and even the food in the restaurant is good. Stay here if you are a heavy sleeper, try the Camino Real down the street if not.

"Relaxing!"
Tracey P, 07 Juillet 2016

We stayed here for the convenience of the airport at the end of our trip and figured that whatever money we save on a cheaper place would be spent on transportation anyway(airport shuttles are free). Anyway I have to admit that after trekking all over southern Nicaragua, this hotel was great for relaxing and unwinding. The pool was huge and nice. My kids enjoyed it while I relaxed on a lounge chair. There's a bar if you want drinks. The food was good, best breakfast we had in our whole stay. The hairdryer in the room was a perk for me. The coffee maker was nice as well as I used it to make manzanilla tea for my unstable stomach. The shower was great and the beds were comfortable. I felt a bit guilty as my goal was to be a backpacker and stay in basic places but I didn't realize how much I needed to unwind until I got there;) I found the staff to be very formal, too formal than what we were used to in the other places we stayed, but we were fine!

"Convenience stays"
AznGuy76, 05 Juillet 2016

Stayed here for 2 nights and will stay 1 more during this week at Nicaragua. The place is very big and a little maze like but pretty over all. Very convenience for a late stay since it is right across the airport. Food is good but for latinamerica its pricey. The major concern I had was their wifi, very unstable and slow even with few guests. Beware of mosquitos since there is a lot of greens all over the hotel.

"Convenient"
greyheaded, 04 Juillet 2016

A straight walk across the road at a stop light and you are at the airport entrance. We were given a complementary upgrade (renovations elsewhere) to a suite which was huge. Sitting area with wicker love seat, chairs, coffee table, private patio; separate bedroom with king-sized bed; 3-piece bathroom. All the perks--air conditioner and ceiling fans, flat-screened TV, phone (courtesy wake-up call), alarm clock, ironing board/iron, safe, full toiletries plus shaving and sewing kits. Nicely landscaped grounds with all the conveniences--restaurant, shop, pools, bar, etc. Our flight was too early for their included breakfast, but we did have a very good grilled fish dinner in their restaurant the night before.

"Stay for the convenience to the airport"
AliceWritesHere, 03 Juillet 2016

Good for an early morning flight out of MGA. Great shower and ac. I found it to be noisy but it did settle down after midnight. Interior halls tend to echo any noise. I suspect there are better options but I don't know if they could compare with the convenience of walking across the street to the airport at 5AM. Flight after 8AM? Don't walk...take the shuttle. It's Managua after all and I'm not sure I trust traffic to stop even at a traffic light;)

"Paying for convenience "
brad s, 29 Juin 2016

Other than being right across from the airport, there is nothing special about this hotel. For budget minded travelers you are much better off arranging for transport to Granada or even catching a cab at the airport and getting out of town. The hotel restaurant is pricey. We arrived in Managua in the late evening and decided to stay here instead of getting straight to Granada. We ended up spending more on the room and dinner than we did the next four days in Granada. Bear in mind that we were budget travelers spending 20usd for a shared private room. If you are arriving late and want a comfortable room with aircon and a decent breakfast included and don't mind paying us prices, this is a good option. For more budget minded, take a pass and head straight for your next destination. Finally, if you have an early morning flight you can find plenty of airport transports out of Granada, we left at 4am, to help you make your flight without having to stay close to the airport.

"Good hotel near the Airport"
JustinLau83, 28 Juin 2016

Me and my family arrived in Managua at 8pm and needed a place to rest before carrying on with our trip the next day. The hotel is literally across the street and couldn't be more convenient a location. We pulled in to the parking lot (24 hr guard) and were checked in without issue. We stayed in room 188 which is near the back of the property which allowed for a quiet evening. The room was clean and included three single beds, full bathroom and air conditioning, which was everything that we needed. The hotel includes multiple pools and a big restaurant with a full international menu. We won't hesitate to stay here the next time we have a late flight. Would recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to relax near the airport.

Well the hotel is directly across the street from the airport and is convenient to the airport. They have completed the remodel of the restaurant, too bad they did not improve the quality of the food. It would be nice to have working air conditioning that would not keep you awake. The staff at the reception desk, well the less time dealing with them the better. Enough said.

"Across the Street from Airport"
Sabrina D, 14 Juin 2016

I ended up stranded in Managua on the way home since my Costena flight from Big Corn Island left 2.5 hours late and I missed my flight to the States. A passenger on the Costena flight told me about this hotel. It is just across the street from the terminal, but I don't recommend walking. The hotel has a free shuttle, which will save you the $5 taxi fee. I found the hotel very nice and comfortable. Hot showers with great water pressure, rooms spacious, neat and fresh with no scent of toxic chemicals, and the beds were very comfortable. The air conditioning worked great. The grounds were lush and beautiful and I spent most of my afternoon out by the pool. It was lovely until the pest control guy started spraying and literally a huge white cloud came toward us and I was coughing and choking. They really should warn the guests sitting at the pool and bar so we can escape to our rooms! I got rebooked on an early morning flight the next day and the shuttle was ready to go whenever I wanted. Everyone on the staff was nice and friendly. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone passing through Managua and connecting on a next day flight.

Very accommodating and professional. I was met at the airport and assisted to the hotel shuttle. Staff was helpful, answered questions. Service and food in restaurant was excellent. I do wish they had an ATM at the hotel.

"Shameless hotel cashing in on airport location "
Steve L, 11 Juin 2016

We booked at the best western as we really had no other choice, an early morning flight and travel from San Juan del sur meant we couldn't make it any other way. Considering the location of the best western in the area of Managua (there is literally nothing else nearby apart from local shacks) it is absolutely shameful the prices they charge for everything: Room per night $105 (Our room confusingly included two double beds and a single with scarcely enough room for anything else) Chef's salad $10 (Reasonable quality, beef a little dry perhaps) 5 snacks from the reception cooler $10 Average quality club sandwich $7 Tour prices direct from the hotel to other areas of Nicaragua are simply astronomical and ran to a maximum of $150 per person - it is much easier to visit these areas using your own means! Evening buffet is of average quality but still costs around $18. The hotel lacks any kind of character at all, the pool area was dirty as were the passageways between rooms. Room service plates were left outside rooms for the duration of our stay, attracting flies and possibly worse. The staff are surly faced and couldn't even muster a smile on check in, and seemed preoccupied chatting to other members of staff. The only exception to this was the groundskeeping staff who always smiled and offered help. The only good things going for the establishment are: - Airport location, Literally across the road. They offer a somewhat redundant shuttle also. - Breakfast buffet is of decent standard. - Good air con I know when we visited Central America it was not peak holiday season but the hotel was depressingly empty Only stay here if you are very rich and don't care about your surroundings or, like us, have no other option. The best western takes liberties and charges extortionate prices for goods and services simply because visitors have no other option.

"Close to airport"
John M, 11 Juin 2016

I've stayed here twice before when flying into Managua. Prior flights have had a layover so arrive after dark, which isn't good for driving here. Hotel is adequate. They have many amenities; pool, pool bar, restaurant, and you can easily walk across the street from the airport. It's a bit overpriced $100 off season but convenient to airport. We have a 1:30am flight back to LA so we decided to kill a few hours here before going to the airport. Their restaurant is great. We are watching a USA v Paraguay soccer game on the big screen, sipping drinks and eating some food. They let my wife change clothes in the restroom, no questions asked. We probably could have jumped in the pool if we wanted. Very accommodating! I started writing this post to advise that rental car companies that offer GPS(Budget) are going 'by-by.' GPS is no longer updating their maps and hey are invalid when traveling lesser know roads especially along the coast. The way to go now is to rent a mobile wifi hotspot from your rental car agency(Dollar). You can use your accurate Google Maps to find your way around as well as use internet and Skype. We didn't try it while here because I'd already booked a Budget rent a car and was stuck with GPS. Also, Delta has a direct flight now from LA to Managua. It gets you here while it's still light out. You can rent a car and drive to Granada for a nice dinner.

"Going downhill!"
xextremex23, 11 Juin 2016

I've stayed several times at this hotel in the past. But with the recent stay I was disappointed with the room. Bathroom was clogged with the first use! Nobody came to fix it until the next morning. Hotel personnel weren't the friendliest, it has changed since my last stay. I don't know what's happening to this hotel! It's going downhill unfortunately.

"A good place to begin and end a Mission trip"
Bluedog1310, 05 Juin 2016

This is my fourth time staying at this wonderful place during a mission trip. First, it is right across from the Managua airport. My room has always been clean and beds comfortable. Shower a little cold. The staff is always helpful. The restaurant is really good. I especially coming in from the mission field and get a good night sleep.

"Noisy"
randomgeo, 01 Juin 2016

This Hotel is amazingly convenient if you are arriving late in Managua and need to get a flight in the a. m. as its located directly across from the airport. The room I was given was closest to the front desk, unfortunately the grooved tile that makes up that hallway combined with the wheels of every travelers suitcase that traveled down that hall all night a day early morning l created a sleepless night of noise. The hotel itself is fine, and the room was comfortable but I highly recommend that you get a room in the far back. I took off 2 stars since the point of a hotel is sleeping (when you are solo traveler) and I perhaps got 2 or 3 hours.

"Nice hotel"
Juan N, 31 Mai 2016

The Mercedes is a very nice hotel. Located just in fron of the airport it has a lots of green areas, the rooms and bathrooms are modest but big enough. They have two swimming pools and a nice bar by the pool. Not so sure about the price because I didn't have to pay for it. Beds are confy, well equiped and very quiet at night.

"Halfway excellent"
Matthew M, 28 Mai 2016

I just want to start off by saying that there are some really excellent aspects of the Best Western in Managua. The pool is amazing, breakfast is great, and of course the location by the airport is important. However, with that being said, for the price we paid, I would expect more. It really is one of the more expensive places in Nicaragua (excluding the absurd). I have stayed a couple times now and several times have had issues with hot water that either doesn't work or only gets to be lukewarm. There often seem to be minor issues with things not working, etc. that (to their credit) they are quick to send someone to fix. For example, the most recent time I stayed, the light bulbs were dead when we got to the room so we had to call to have them replaced, and then the tv remote batteries were dead, and then there wasn't hot water. These are not major problems! They are very minor annoyances that were dealt with very quickly, but given the price of the hotel, I would think a slightly higher level of quality should be expected. So go enjoy the wonderful pool, eat a great breakfast, and have no worries about airport transfers, but just know that you are probably getting a slightly lower value than you should be getting for the amount you have to pay to stay here.

"A Great Place To R&R"
ejweb_13, 22 Mai 2016

Flying into Managua late at night, this was the perfect place to recover from a flight. The rooms were clean and quiet, the restaurant was new and cool, and the staff most accommodating. The motel is a walk across the street from the airport with pedestrian lighting. Our flight leaving was 1:00AM and, thanks to the staff, we secured our luggage at the motel and spent our time by the pool side bar. An experience that brings pleasant memories.

"Clean, good value, close to airport"
beachl0ver2011, 16 Mai 2016

Very well kept and clean hotel directly across the street from airport, yet you don't really hear airplanes. Good water pressure, hot water, free wifi. Free breakfast is fabulous with local cuisine, fresh fruit and omelette bar. Get a massage with Elsa. $40 and so worth it! Try to avoid rooms in halls near office. Tile hallways mean you hear every roller bag and cranky kid check in. Two nice pool areas.

"Solid Central American Airport Hotel"
Gentlemanexplorer, 15 Mai 2016

As many have noted, this is the most convenient place to stay if you have an early flight out or a late flight in from Managua. It is literally right across the street from the airport. They offer a shuttle, but unless you have a towering amount of luggage, why would you need it? Check-in was easy, armed guards also act as doormen, air conditioning was blasting like nowhere else in the country. The hotel is a large compound of outside alleyways with rooms on either side. Our was clean, comfortable, and had strong wi-fi. We ate there as well, grateful for an easy dinner. It was over-priced and mediocre. There are two pool areas and multiple dining areas. However, we got there towards the end of some large birthday party in one and a wedding(?) was finishing up at another, so be aware that this seems to be a popular spot for locals to rent out/come to celebrate if you're looking for a day of peace and quiet at the start or end of your trip.

"Can't beat the location"
Jennings W, 12 Mai 2016

This isn't a "vacation" hotel, but if you're flying in late or leaving early from Managua, you can't beat being across the street from the airport. While we've heard others complain about the rooms, we've always had rooms that were large, very clean, and well maintained. The pool is nice and stays cool under the trees. The only complaint is that the bar and restaurant staff tends to be... aloof, not super helpful or fast. The porters, however, are excellent.

"Better than average Airport Hotel ... But ..."
twangypearl, 10 Mai 2016

We stayed at this hotel both on the way in and the way out of Nicaragua for a total of two nights. It is about as convenient as you can get to the airport (literally right across the street and walking there from the hotel is actually faster than shuttling if you don't have a lot of luggage). Check in was smooth and attentive. Free wifi and free in room water. Included breakfast was good, service in the restaurant very good, and the coffee at breakfast a real stand out. Room was clean, spacious, comfortable and everything worked. I would have given 4 stars had our stay been just the first late arrival, overnight and out early the next day directly after breakfast. However, here's the two buts ... On the way home we decided to come a day before our flight (rather than an early drive from Granada), and spend a leisurely afternoon by the pool swimming and reading. Food options at the pool are just okay (a step above a seven eleven), as are drink options. On the expensive side, but not too bad for an airport hotel and we knew that going in. The kicker was it was a Sunday and the main pool was host to a public (pay to enter) party swim (with VERY VERY loud party music), and tons of families. So not only was it impossible to concentrate on a book on the deck as the music made it actually uncomfortable for us to be there longer than one drink - but all the loungers, tables etc were taken up by the public party goers and the pool was overflowing with children. We were told the public party swim ended at 5, and tried to go back a second time later in the day to find a lounger and hopefully enjoy the pool - but no such luck. Trying to grin and bear the music, we ordered a beverage and asked at the bar for a towel to lay out somewhere on the deck and have a dip - they sent for one, but it didn't come. Asked again, same routine. The few staff members on the deck were too busy serving the outside guests. Finally went to the front desk (a fair stroll from the pool) and waited for almost 10 minutes for a towel there. Since there is another smaller pool - we thought we could head there. No such luck as it was rented out for a private party until 7 pm. So the whole day was spent really really wanting and trying to have a day by the pool and being frustrated at the attempts to make it happen. It would be nice if management reserved at least a section of the pool loungers for guests of the hotel and keep the music to an ambient level - and/or have the smaller pool available for guests of the hotel if they are opening the larger pool to a public party. Secondly - we did not have an early flight and wanted to sleep in before the long haul home. However the tiled hallways create quite a racket with rolly suitcases and we were woken up several times at the cracker as other guests rolled their bags and conversed past our room. If you don't have an early flight, ask to stay at the far end of hallway (and perhaps the management could take this into account when assigning rooms as well). All in all I would stay again on the way in if arriving late - but next time will arrange to fly out with out stay overnight. Phone ahead and ask for the pools' scheduled activities if you are counting on relaxing here.

"Great simple hotel "
Gemsinvestments, 08 Mai 2016

Best Western Las Mercedes is a great value hotel right across the street from the Managua Airport. They provide a free shuttle to the airport, even waited for us outside immigration with a sign and helped us with luggage. Free breakfast was great, it's simple but fresh fruit, omelet bar and local food was plenty to start the day. Everyone had a smile and overall service was pleasant. Elsa the masseuse was one of the best I ever had (and I get regular massages around Latin America) and for us$40 for 1hr it was worth it while we waited for our transport to Esteli.

"When flying out of Managua this is the place to stay"
365jeanneh, 02 Mai 2016

I go to Nicaragua many times a year. The night before my return to the US, I usually stay in Managua for my early morning flight. Best Western Las Mercedes in Managua is directly across the street from the airport. So extremely convenient. I get up and check in to the airport a little early. Take the shuttle back to Las Mercedes. Enjoy their fabulous breakfast buffet. Then head back to the airport on the hotel shuttle again, and very happily board the plane and take my little nap. I recommend to everyone flying out of Managua to do the same.

"Feels Like Home"
CarolSpringfieldIL, 27 Avril 2016

We live in Nicaragua 7 months doing volunteer missions on the Atlantic Coast. We do look forward to our time at Las Mercedes. They hire and train people to be so kind and patient with the travelers in and out of the Inn. There have been many renovations and, of course, it is conveniently located across from the international airport. Thank you Las Mercedes for taking good care of us from the moment we walk in to the time we check out.

"Managua BW"
David S, 27 Avril 2016

Only choice close to the airport. Overpriced for quality of rooms. Friendly staff. Food is overpriced and mediocre. $12 for a cheeseburger in Nicaragua is a bit high. Beers are 3x local prices. Mosquitoes are a problem, even in the rooms.

"Airport convience"
John F, 23 Avril 2016

A very quiet hotel, much updating done, a large estate with pool & pool bar, no traffic noise, yet right on main highway. Fast shuttle to hotel & back to airport in morning. Very good personal experience with every one I dealt with

"Two pools, open air restaurant, international guests"
Lois S, 21 Avril 2016

I felt like living at this hotel. Had an economical room ($59 plus tax,not always available), which was at back of hotel -quiet and perfect. Sitting in the dining room at the wonderful Nicaraguan style buffet breakfast included in price of room, I met Nicaraguans, Northamericans, and people from all over the world(there was an international congress of milk producers being held there) and could have stayed and talked for days (I did for hours!). What interested me most were the volunteers I met. At nite I brought food in to my room (didn't like the American food offered), and when I asked a waiter for plastic utensils, he gave me silverware wrapped in a napkin. I showed him my room key and said I would return the items in the morning. He told me to just leave it in the room. Everyone who worked there was like that. A free shuttle bus to the airport which is literally across the street sealed the A-plus rating for convenience and comfort. Wouldn't stay anywhere else.

"Great for area and price"
cocothumper, 20 Avril 2016

I have stayed here 10 times and it's a great, consistent hotel that is constantly improving. The location cannot be beat, you are literally across the street from the airport. The rooms are nice and clean, and the hotel is set up like little bungalows. There are several pools to swim in. The restaurant has just been redone and they have improved on their dining options, but if you are vegan you will be out of luck for most breakfast options. The other food disappointment is that they use a lot of fake ingredients, like cheese sauce for nachos at their night bar. Overall, it's a great place to land when you come in to Managua and need a good night's sleep.

"Convenient and Luxurious"
gpotvin, 20 Avril 2016

Located literally across the street from the airport, this is the most convenient hotel we have stayed in for getting to our flight - you can walk if you can carry or roll your baggage. The price is high for Nicaragua, but not in comparison to other places near airports. The restaurant served a nice selection of food at reasonable prices and there is a full service bar next to the larger of two very nice swimming pools. The rooms are clean and very comfortable and the staff are friendly and accommodating.

"Great location to airport "
BuddyDogJackson, 19 Avril 2016

This is a decent hotel. Really....the best thing about it is it's convenient location! You can't beat being directly across from the airport. I've stayed here dozens of times and its location is really the only reason I come back and pay the price. The rooms are comfortable. Air conditioning sometimes isn't great...but most of the time does the job. The wifi is ALWAYS bad. And finally....the restaurant needs a major improvement to its menu. They have a mediocre selection and the worst part for me is that the BEER is lukewarm. Never that crisp ice cold brew you're so hoping for to cool you down in the heat of Managua.

"Great spot"
daddio1030, 18 Avril 2016

We have used this hotel several times and have always enjoyed. It is a very convenient place to stay when flying into or out of the Managua airport. It is a quick walk across a very busy street or the hotel does provide shuttle service. Good food options as well if you are hungry and don't want to leave the hotel property.

"Great Airport Option"
goozey, 15 Avril 2016

Literally right across the road from the Airport. That said, never having been to Managua before, I emailed ahead and had them waiting at the airport with a sign. It's always nice to see your name on the sign with a guy waiting for you when it's 10 pm in a new city/country. He walked us through the airport systems (immigration, customs) ... and popped us in the van for the 90 second drive across the road. The next morning, we just walked across the road to catch our AM domestic flight. There's a crosswalk, signal lights ... super easy ... it's right there. The hotel was quite good ... AC worked fine, room was clean, bed was good, pool was nice, breakfast quite decent, free wifi in the room. Friendly staff, quick checkin and check out ... no problems at all. Recommend for your airport conveniences.

"Lovely ending to our holiday"
galadriel2003, 12 Avril 2016

The hotel is very nice, conveniently located opposite the airport even though crossing the road with luggage could be dangerous, I would suggest using the free shuttle service provided by the hotel, it is safer than crossing the road plus is more secure if leaving really early or very late. I liked the fact that the rooms were adjacent to each other but all on one floor, so no noise from above. The hotel was quite at night, the room very clean, the bed and cushions very comfortable and there was hot water. The rooms are aired conditioned, considering that Managua is unbearably hot it was a real luxury to be able to sleep at night. We had lunch at the hotel 's restaurant and we were really pleased we did. The staff was helpful and friendly, the food was very good and the premises very clean. We spent the afternoon and evening by the pool, the pool was a bit cloudy because there are trees around it, the pollen falls on the water, but it did not stop my husband from dipping in. We had a very lovely day and will definitely go back if visiting Managua again.

"Only stay here for access to the airport"
blueanchor2014, 12 Avril 2016

This is not a venue to enjoy. The rooms are laid out in corridors reminding me of cell blocks. Our room was small and gloomy, having said that, it had all the modern facilities to be expected. The staff were mostly helpful. Both swimming pools were lovely and well maintained. The restaurant was adequate but not enjoyable, but the hotel did have refurbishment going on. There were armed "porters / guards " on the main doors, at the same time worrying and re-assuring. Very convenient for the airport which makes this an excellent option.

"Terrible"
Marianne H, 12 Avril 2016

First you had a slow check in. Had drinks at bar by pool. Had left an open credit card. Had to argue with the gentleman that we had the privilege of charging to our room. Restaurant. Pushy to order the second you sat down. When asked for a couple of minutes, you were totally ignored. Took twenty minutes to get the waiter, Roberto, back to our table. Not a busy place until we were leaving a bus load of teenagers came in. Food was good. My father had a hamburger; I had the pasta dish. It was very good. The room had ants in it - some dead some alive. The air conditioner sounded like something should be crawling out of it. Turned it way down to cut back the sound. The place looked good. Had a business office. No printer for printing tickets. needed assistance on how to put the @ sign in the computer to get to the website. Had to ask. Who would "guess" control 64. Needs posted. Slow checking out. Nobody in line. Very convenient to the airport. As we were leaving, there was a shuttle waiting. Left immediately upon loading our luggage.

"BW Las Mercedes"
julies2413, 07 Avril 2016

Pool was cloudy. New air conditioning units were not effective. Ran from check in at 1:30 until midnight and the room still wasn't cool. Tried 2 different rooms. These units were new since our last stay here a few months ago.

"Great for departure from Managua"
rjonsun, 03 Avril 2016

Located directly across the street from the airport. Shuttle across the street begins at 4:30 AM. I think the free breakfast starts at 6 AM, but we had an early flight out and missed it. Two swimming pools, both very clean and enough lounge chairs. Restaurant and food were good, but not outstanding. We were walk in customers and paid a bit more than Web prices. Rooms were spacious and very clean with good beds, bathroom and A\\c

"Very Convenient"
Kevin K, 29 Mars 2016

Being directly across road from the airport saves a great deal of money on airport shuttles. Now that a lighted crosswalk has been installed the comfort level of crossing the road has increased dramatically. The rooms are small, comfortable and equipped with all amenities. All staff, from reception to maintenance are friendly, professional and very efficient.

"Perfect - close to the airport"
ohusby, 24 Mars 2016

As soon you have collected your luggage, you can cross the highway and you are inside the hotel (there is also transpiration by car). Quick check-in by qualified personnel, and then straight to the at night the same day you left Europe. Outdoor pool, good breakfast. There is som renovation going on. Earlier it was possible to have breakfast outside, maybe that will be made better?

"Clean & comfortable"
phspangler, 23 Mars 2016

I'm a single woman and stayed over night before my early morning flight. I felt safe and enjoyed reading, eating dinner and relaxing by the larger of the two pools where waiters bring drinks and yummy food. The room was clean with cold air-conditioning, bed was comfy, water was hot, but I heard lots of partying and traffic noise through much of the night, thus hopeless conditions for early to sleep and rising rested. I would still opt to stay here again.

"Great spot to stay after a long flight"
Chantalsully, 22 Mars 2016

We stayed at the Best Western for one night when we first arrived in Managua, Nicaragua. Great pools, awesome breakfast and they had an attendant (Larry) waiting for us at the airport when we arrived (at 11:30pm) who helped us to the hotel. As we had been traveling since 5am, it was wonderful to have someone escort us over. Starting your vacation off at The Best Western in Managua is a wonderful idea if you are looking for some R&R to start off your vacation. I highly recommend staying here for an evening rather than heading off immediately to your next Nicaraguan destination.

"Comfortable airport hotel - take shuttle, don't walk, to airport."
Ginsadventures, 17 Mars 2016

Great service at front desk & pool bar/restaurant. Room was spacious and bedding very comfortable. Large bathroom and great A/C. Food & drinks were delicious, nice variety without having to leave the hotel. Very good value, would return! Note: You can walk across the road to the airport but wait for the free shuttle, don't walk to the airport. Walking was dangerous. Drivers ran the red lights in both directions.

"Great airport hotel in Managua"
Pivo06, 15 Mars 2016

This is a great location for folks flying into Managua late who need a place to stay before leaving the next day. The hotel is literally right across the street from the airport. There is a shuttle but it's a 2 min walk across a crosswalk. If you arrive at night, look left out of the arrival doors and go towards the white lit up roof of the parking attendants. There is security all the way through. The rooms are clean and the grounds are nice. The pools are ideal for travellers looking to cool off in the hot Nica sun. The breakfast buffet is good too. A small gym exists but really - who is working out during their stay??? We will definitely stay at this convenient location again.

"Short stay before airport departure"
empty_nestOmaha, 14 Mars 2016

We stayed here one night before our airport departure early the next morning. We had a good dinner at the resort. The pool was great and the beds comfortable. The rooms we had booked with two beds were not available but they upgraded us to suites and brought in extra beds. It was a good thing the beds were for our children because it might not have been as comfortable for an adult. One of the rooms was near the entrance so when the people arrived from the airport around midnight we could hear conversations as people walked by for about an hour. Another room was at the back of the resort and we could hear music until about 11. The location was great for car rental return-we just walked across the street.

"Best little oasis in Managua"
Bellatravelingshoes, 13 Mars 2016

We love coming here. The beds are comfortable, the air conditioners work great, nice hot showers, flat screen tvs with cable, two pools with palm trees, snack bar by the pool, wifi, shuttle to the airport, room service and free breakfast Buffett! We love coming here year after year!

maryIowa, 09 Mars 2016

We spent our first and last night in Nicaragua at the Best Western Las Mercedes in Managua due to our flight schedules. We have to say it was super convenient since is was just across from the airport and everyone was very nice! The gardens are pretty and clean, simply decorated rooms gave us a feel for Nicaragua. Just what we wanted-not to mention we slept great! The property is laid out in rows of rooms separated by the gardens. You barely hear any of the airport noise-just birds and monkeys! The hotel serves a great, free breakfast and we also ate dinner there. The restaurant was under construction so our evening dinner was a little slow, but very good! The pool is large and there is a bar next to it-the pina coladas are delicious.

"Ask and you shalt receive"
Edwin T, 09 Mars 2016

The hotel is pretty good, and the staff is efficient if not too friendly. The location is great if you're flying in or out of the airport. Stay away from the bar unless you like excruciatingly slow service

"No better place to stay for airport convenience."
bjwcfpc, 08 Mars 2016

If you have a late evening arrival or an early morning departure at the Managua airport, this is the place to stay. We came in late in the evening after a long day in transit. How wonderful to be in our beds within 20 minutes of leaving the airport. Las Mercedes provides a free shuttle. Our rate for 2 people including breakfast was $95. But you might be able to get it for as low as $72. The rooms weren't great, but they were clean and comfortable. The property has 2 pools and a large open air breakfast area. The breakfast buffet had an abundance of good food.

"Vacation "
Carolina S, 08 Mars 2016

We stayed at this hotel from feb 29 to march 5, The first day we were their bugs were on the wall, The room service was okay i had asked for room service everyday but i didn't get room service the third day, on the fifth day their we decided we wanted to make some coffee and when we go to use the coffee maker theirs mold in side it and its broken, my daughter went to complain to front desk and showed them the coffee maker they said they would send someone but never did. Also when you entered the hotel they rarely welcomed you or opened the door for you. The bathroom was cleaned very well either, I work as a housekeeping supervisor in new york so I would know if the rooms condition was up to standards, the only way i would stay at this hotel again was if it was my only option front desk not good at all

"Slightly shabby luxury at bargain price"
Jody_11, 07 Mars 2016

This hotel is amazingly quiet and pleasant for an airport hotel--walking distance albeit across a very busy highway. My room was at the back and not as upgraded as some (i.e., still a keyed lock, a but musty), but maybe that's why it was such a bargain -- about $80 including an amazing breakfast buffet, two swimming pools, lovely grounds, and helpful staff. I had stayed at the Airport X on my way in to Nicaragua, it was an even better bargain, but some distance from the airport and a bit funkier overall (though new, with clean rooms). I'd recommend either one.

"When I go to Nicaragua!"
Johnny-Tarmac66, 07 Mars 2016

This is a great hotel that feels like a resort with its large pool and bar. It is across the street from the airport so you never have jets fly over you and the terminal acts as a sound break when they are on the ground. The rooms are made up of groups of four units connected in a row, all one level so they feel very private and earthquake safe. The grounds are very well maintained as is the pool area. The food is very good but the drinks were a little expensiive but if you want cheap beer you can take a left outside the hotel and walk one block and find multiple small stores. The AC was cold and the water was hot so I had no problems with that. I enjoyed my stay and recommend it highly!

"Very expensive"
MikaCarole, 06 Mars 2016

Beers are sold 85 cordobas. In all the country it's 35. Stolers! I don't like this! Hôtel has no charm but it's not horrible. We took this hôtel arriving And leaving, two times we had a problem with beds And prices. They are not clean.

"Dated"
Michael R, 06 Mars 2016

A/C barely kept up with temperature. Crack in door allowed bugs and mosquitos into the room. water pressure poor in shower. safe locked on arrival. noisy room. location next to airport a plus but that was it.

"airport stop over"
Louis F, 06 Mars 2016

Totally unexpected quality of an airport hotel. Great location easy access to airport. If you need a hotel look no further. Staff wass friendly and very helpful. We actually wish we could have stayed n additional day to just chill and relax.

"Convenient hotel for a quick overnight stay"
nmmelancon, 01 Mars 2016

I stayed at the Best Western at the beginning and end of a weeklong trip to Nicaragua. Since I landed alone (as a woman solo traveler) at 9 pm in Managua, I wanted a hotel that was convenient, clean and safe. Although you can easily walk (yet it is a very busy street) across to the hotel from the airport, I took the free hotel shuttle. The staff is friendly, the rooms are decent and clean (but not luxurious), and the food is decent. I also stayed here the night before leaving Nicaragua. It is extremely convenient to the airport and I think the best option for an overnight stay before or after landing.

"Close to airport, Clean Accomodations"
Oriolezgurl, 28 Février 2016

My husband and I stayed at this property when preparing to depart Managua for the US. We have stayed he before under similar circumstances. The rooms are clean, air-conditioned, good breakfast buffet and nicely appointed for its star-rating. It is a very busy hotel so there are usually lots of guests arriving at all hours, therefore it is often noisy at all hours. The room that we stayed in (162) was in a little modular unit. It was ok, but had no hot water. I would probably ask to not be given a room like that again. The hotel is particularly nice when leaving for the airport, as you can use the crosswalk and "walk sign" to cross the highway. I know that we will prob return on another trip to Nicaragua.

"Good place to kill time before a late-night flight"
jean84usa, 28 Février 2016

My partner and I came here to kill time at the poolside snack bar before heading to the airport for our red-eye flight. I enjoyed my pina colada and tostones (fried plaintains with beans and fried cheese), but my husband's chicken burrito was bland. It's not really a budget place (our bill was over $30 for drinks and food), but it was worth it to pass the three hours before our flight and use the wifi. The hotel is literally across the street from the airport, and there's a crosswalk with a pedestrian push button. It wasn't a problem to cross the street by foot at 11 p.m., but it might be more difficult during the day with heavier traffic. We didn't stay at the hotel and so can't speak to the accommodation. The clientele seemed to include several large groups of North American teenagers/young adults.

"Super convenient place across road from airport."
David Z, 25 Février 2016

Perfect for a late night arrival or early morning departure from Managua airport. It is definitely not cheap compared to the rest of the country but I think that is to be expected. Food and beer are expensive as well. But the rooms are clean and have good A/C and the grounds and pool are really nice.

"Great Location & Best Omelets in the world"
Charles C, 22 Février 2016

We have stayed at this hotel, directly across from the airport, many times in the past 10 years and find it to be consistent in the welcoming attitude, cleanliness and great service. The omelet chef is friendly and makes made-to-order omelets to die for! Highly recommend this hotel!

"Useless front desk"
sooperson, 20 Février 2016

I had friends at the hotel/restaurant today and I tried calling,,,,, for 20 minutes and no one answered the phone. Since I was in Leon, I walked over to their hotel here and their attitude was one of "so what". I had the right phone number

"Disappointing room for the price"
Coconut_Grove_Dave, 17 Février 2016

We had stayed at this hotel about 2 years ago and decided to try it again because of its convenient location near the airport and our arrival at 2:00 A.M. Our room was small and quite drab. It was not any better than some hotel rooms we have stayed in at half the rate. No effort went into decorating the room to make it feel warm and comfortable. The bathroom was a little more polished. Breakfast, served near the swimming pool, was good and had an omelet station. We agree with another reviewer who wrote that the hotel was dated - it could use some modernizing. We will consider staying at this hotel on the occasion we arrive at or depart from the airport late a night - it is literally just a short walk across the street.

"Needs Help!"
steelheaddan, 13 Février 2016

So we spoke to reservations Friday night and made reservations for Saturday night. Two rooms, re-furbished please. No problem, got you all set sir. Arrived Saturday night and were told the reservations were made for Friday evening and they were completely full. OK, after ten minutes or so two rooms somehow became available. I said great, walked to the first room set some bags down, and of course not in the re-furbished rooms, ok, can deal with that, although they are old and in need of updating. Arrived at the second room and there was garbage from the evening before and beds unmade. No worries, put us across the way at another open room. Dinner a complete disaster, been traveling the tropics and know Tico time, Nico time and every sort of tropic time on why it takes so long. Long story short, 30 minutes to be talked to and one hour 15 for food to arrive. Food arrived cold and un-dedible. Servers excuse was hopefully next time there won't be as many people. Saw a sign on the way back to the room saying they are under construction and soon they will be taking care of guests like they deserve. REALLY? Yes the airport is across the street and we have a 5am flight and we feel completely safe. Would have gotten up 15 minutes earlier and stayed at a place that didn't feel so unorganized. No other spot in Nica put out such a poor product...

"Great Location from Airport "
Lively_chris, 13 Février 2016

We stayed here overnight coming and going to Big Corn. Very reasonably priced, and Clean. We loved the bar at the pool... Great food! The breakfast buffet is included in room price. A lot of food to choose from. We would love to go back and stay longer!

"Ok for one night"
divindaze, 11 Février 2016

This hotel needs some updating. The room we stayed in appeared to be new and was very clean but the rest of the hotel was very lacking. It is right across the street from the airport so that would be the only reason to stay here. It was noisy at night so be sure to have ear plugs.

"Best Airport Hotel in Mangua"
BWiley8, 10 Février 2016

I have stayed in this hotel for years for either my first or last night's stay In Nicaragua and this visit it was for both. Now that there is a pedestrian traffic light to stop traffic on the busy PanAmerican Highway between the airport terminal entrance and the hotel front door, this is an easy a transit as anywhere from plane to hotel room. Immediately, when inside the lush hotel grounds sitting with a drink by the pool, one seems far away from the traffic, etc. The rooms seem more upscale in decor, etc. than in the past. If I have an 8 a.m. departure flight, I walk over to the terminal to check in and check my luggage, then return to the hotel for the excellant breakfast and get my carry on and check out. The hotel has allowed me to store excess luggage with them for a week while I went to Little Corn Island.

"Reasonable accomodations"
TIMOTHY O, 08 Février 2016

This is a mid-level facility by US standards, but quite nice for Nicaragua. AC, comfortable bed, bottled water available. There is an outdoor pool with restaurant, and an outdoor bar with a reasonable number of choices of beer and liquor, as well as wine.

"Bed & breakfast"
dolliebonilla, 07 Février 2016

Nice, clean, and tidy. Staff is great rooms are beautiful air conditioner provided perfect for a hot day pools are nice and clean. Location is amazing seeing that it is located in front of the airport with shuttel access

""Surprised" This stay!"
coatiman, 07 Février 2016

Expat here again. Well, another "Visa Run" out of Costa Rica. Again due to winter up in the USA, I returned to a great hotel in Managua. The pools were just what I needed to get the "mojo" back! This trip I was just a little disappointed. I have been coming here for the past 5 years now, spending 3 nights per stay. Always having a great stay. This trip I had a slight inconvenience. The restaurant...It is not in "full" operation". It is open for the GREAT breakfast, and a very- very limited dinner menu. The restaurant is under going a major renovation... but it is open! Should be all completed appox. by May. What I had for my 3 nights ( Different entree) was still great!

"Fab place will organised !"
Elisabettaamadi, 05 Février 2016

Incredibile place if you need to be very early at the airport in Managua. Well organized not the usual very 'American standard big hotel' place. It is like a holiday village with a local flavor and some great personalized service. They are special. Fear and clean room and excellent bar.

"Awesome!"
Harvey B, 05 Février 2016

The hotel was recommended as it is extremely convenient to the airport. We have stayed at the El Camino Real in times past. And let me add that is a nice hotel. It's more expensive but it was recommended for a comfortable stay and good breakfast, which we had. But again it was more expensive. Now on to the Best a Western Las Mercedes. Upon arrival, WOW! The staff was awesome! The room was awesome! The food was awesome! And to sum it all up. Our stay was AWESOME! The Best Western Las Mercedes will be the hotel of choice for all future stays. We have family and friends coming and they will be staying at the Las Mercedes. AWESOME stay!

"The hotel pool open to locals"
presto2011, 05 Février 2016

We decided to stay there as our flight was at 5am the next morning. We were planning to spend our last afternoon by the pool. Unfortunately, the hotel pool is open to the local community, therefore there was no place to sit and the pool was overcrowded with locals with lots of kids. We were stuck inside our small room all afternoon. The second pool was reserved by a local for a private party. At around 5:30pm, you can see locals leaving the hotel with their towels and bags, and we were able to find chairs. This is in our opinion totally unacceptable. The paying customers (150$US/night) have to stay in their room (no lounge areas) while locals benefit from the hotel amenities. When we asked the hotel staff (both at reception and concierge), they just nodded like it was daily routine. The hotel is well located for an early flight, but next time we would just stay somewhere else and take a 10min taxi.

"No Sleep New Years"
Crystaly2015, 04 Février 2016

We were staying in this hotel on New Years Eve. We had an early flight the next morning. We booked here because it was across the road from the airport. They had a New Years party that was still going on and blaring the live band music when we checked out at 5:30am. It kept us awake all night. Very disappointed.

"Hotel Restaurant "
Larry S, 03 Février 2016

I believe in recycling but when I'm am in a restaurant I hope they don't do it with the menu. The gallo pinto was dry and I really don't know if it was from the breakfast or the day before. The cheese looks the same. But at the end after complaint y realize that they don't care. Judge by your self.

"Clean,safe and beautiful grounds"
Happy-seniors2, 02 Février 2016

My wife and I arrived at this hotel January 28th for a stay of 6 nights. It is situated just in front of the Managua airport. You could just go across the parking lot, cross the highway and go in if you wanted to but it was safer to take the shuttle van which was there for us. All the rooms are situated in a garden setting. They are clean and have air condition. Breakfast buffet style is serve free of charge every morning. The wifi and internet really work good outside near the reception area or at the restaurant. They have 2 pools and a pool bar where you'll meet the friendliest bartenders. Carlos and Anibal will serve you the drinks you like. After 5:30 p.m. All the cocktails are half price. You can also order food from the bar.

"Self-contained and across from the airport - very convenient."
Razia A, 01 Février 2016

This is a good place to stay if you want easy access to the airport. Helpful front desk staff. Very clean rooms. Restaurant with good buffets. We were able to leave our luggage for a couple of days sidetrip.

"Convenient for flights"
Rochelle R, 31 Janvier 2016

Directly across the busy street from the airport but they still offer a shuttle which I used the first time I arrived since it was late at night. Their shuttle driver was waiting by baggage claim before exiting customs and made me feel safe and comfortable helping me navigate to the hotel my first time in Nicaragua. Now that I know where it is I'd feel safe walking solo as a female too. Wifi worked great, AC was an added bonus, nice room and open breakfast area by pool was nice. If you keep in mind it's a city hotel in Nicaragua, you'll be pleasantly surprised if you're willing to spend the money for something convenient and relatively modern.

"excellent place to stat"
larry and conni... f, 31 Janvier 2016

great for airport. they have shuttle or there is walkway with stop lights to get across highway. excellent facility with swimming pools, restraint, wifi, etc. gateway to travel Nicaragua which is a very difficult country to travel unless you speak Spanish. are just not set up for tourism but is a beautiful country. if no Spanish I would recommend flying to Managua, stay at best western, and fly to big corn island we also fraveled little corn island by boat. in big corn we stayed at marthas bed and breakfast and it was great..

"A good airport hotel"
sanscott, 29 Janvier 2016

We have stayed at Las Mercedes in Managua several times over the last 20+ years. It is all about Location! Location! Location! The Best Western Las Mercedes Hotel, is located directly in front of Managua's international airport. Really, it is walk able. The hotel is the perfect place to stay when arriving late or leaving early or transferring to another location. Actually, it is not that far into the city center either so it is perfect for any stay… and the accommodation with breakfast is reasonable. Guests can also enjoy their spa and play racquet ball, tennis and volleyball. The hotel has an interesting set up with rows of yellow wooden, one-story buildings which are united by a clear domed roof to keep the rain out. There are 174 rooms offering a variety of configurations. All rooms feature air conditioning, telephones, cable TV other amenities including a large buffet breakfast. The hotel offers a free business center, secure parking and free transportation to/from the airport. Las Mercedes is a smoke-free hotel but pets are allowed. The grounds are well landscaped with one tree worth noting – a huge Guanacaste tree near one of the two pools. Adjacent to the largest pool is Tanhinos Bar serving drinks and light fare and with a daily happy hour. The La Pergola Restaurant has an international and national buffet a well as ala carte items. They are currently redoing the original indoor restaurant. The eco-friendly hotel offers the Best Western 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. It is worthwhile to sign up for Best Western's customer loyalty program where points can be accumulated for future free stays or credit to an airline. We are great fans of customer loyalty programs.

"Excellent service"
Glenda W, 28 Janvier 2016

The front desk staff was extremely helpful! After dinner I had a ruptured blood vessel in my eye and it looked really scary. We went to the front desk to ask about hospitals and they called EMS. Within 5 minutes the EMS team arrived and were very thorough and helpful. Fortunately, I also had my own eye doctor on the phone and between the two we decided no further treatment was necessary. I cannot express enough how helpful the staff and management were in this situation. We stayed here for one night before our 8am flight the next morning. We arrived from Big Corn Island at 9:30 am and by 10:30am we were checked in to our room. This Best Western feels more like a resort than a hotel. The rooms are clean, quiet, comfortable, and air conditioned. Breakfast is great. The pool area and snack bar are convenient as well. A new restaurant is being completed soon and it will be a great addition. You can literally walk across the street to the airport, but there is also a shuttle which we used upon checkout to drive us since it was parked right at the front door of the hotel. We will definitely stay here again in the future even if we have to stay longer than overnight. The architecture of the hotel was very interesting as well, not your average Best Western.

"Comfortable and with great breakfast"
RThomas5586, 27 Janvier 2016

It couldn't be any handier for catching flights. The airport is across the street. One could walk from the terminal, and many do, but there is a tall fence with barbed wire at the top which you have to walk around, making it a little farther. The alternative is to use the free shuttle, which will promptly come to pick you up. The breakfast buffet is wonderful with great coffee and eggs made to order. We didn't eat any other meals there. The staff is efficient and friendly, everything is very clean, and the beds comfortable. On the minus side, our shower had a scant trickle of hot water. It was impossible to control the water temperature. All rooms are on one level and have tile walkways going by. It can be quite noisy when others drag suitcases past. The rooms are basic. The swimming pool is huge, the beer is expensive, $3.25 U.S.

"Clean, comfortable and very reliable wifi "
Mohamed E, 26 Janvier 2016

This hotel is situated across the street from the airport - you can literally walk from the airport to the hotel - very short distance. It is among the cleanest hotels that I have stayed in Nicaragua. The breakfast buffet is solid with eggs made to order, fresh fruit and pastries. The showers have hot water which seems a huge luxury.

"Airport Conveniency"
jrmoor1953, 18 Janvier 2016

Very convenient as it's walking distance across the street from the airport. The room was comfortable with AC and good lighting. Safe enclosed compound. The free breakfast was very good. I stayed there another year on my way out of the country. It's great place to rest upon arriving or leaving the country.

"Very Good....But...."
wanda t, 16 Janvier 2016

This hotel is very convenient as it is located right in front of the airport, so for early/late flights it is very practical. The rooms are simple, clean and functional. They have a nice swimming pool...But at night the dining space is dreadful...gloomy lights (these kind of white bulbs), not cosy at all...too bad as they could easily arrange it to have a nice warm atmosphere as it is right next to the pool. We wanted to dine at the hotel but when we saw the place we changed our mind...

"Always helpful"
Charles S, 13 Janvier 2016

I conduct mission trips for the Catholic Diocese of Dallas, the hotel is in walking distance to the airport. I have groups up to 75 people and they are able to accommodate all of us. We are learning to work together to complete a raped check-in process. Meals are good quality and staff is helpful.

"Clean and Convenient"
LaDale S, 12 Janvier 2016

My husband and I stayed at the Best Western Las Mercedes after arriving at the airport from the U.S. It was a great location - we walked with our baggage right across the street and into their parking lot of the Best Western at 9 pm. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The water from the tap is not recommended by the management but they provide bottled water in the room. The rooms were air conditioned and quiet. The management was attentive and friendly. We saved an expensive taxi ride into the city as we were not staying in Managua but traveling North the next day. Upon return, an early flight of 7am was not going to be missed due to traffic or any other unpredictable event. Again, we simply crossed the road to the airport. In the future we will always stay at this Best Western, it was super convenient!

"Pleasantly Surprised"
Lisa M, 09 Janvier 2016

we were very pleasantly surprised at the resort feel of this hotel very clean, incredibly friendly and helpful staff English was spoken well by all hotel staff we encountered food was just ok at the hotel and the buffet for lunch was expensive for what it was walking distance to the airport which was very helpful as we left late

"Convenient location"
katillak, 09 Janvier 2016

Stayed here in Managua solely because we had an early morning flight. Rooms were clean but lacking hot water for us. Grounds are large and include pool and restaurant. We didn't find the pool very inviting as right next to rowdies at the bar. Food looked dreadful and was expensive, we ordered in pizza. Hotel offers shuttle to the airport at an added cost. Can't imagine needing to use it. No more than 100meters straight across the street with a traffic light crossing is the departure gates, very convenient to walk.

"Not impressed "
Sarniafoodnatzi, 07 Janvier 2016

The rooms are just 'okay' but infested with large ants and other bugs. The resort is confusing to move around in. The pools are nice and landscaping is also good. The food is average.. But the prices are on the more expensive side. Convenient with the airport right across the street but the staff seem unhappy and distant. Not once was I greated with a smile. If you have the option stay elsewhere.

"A must for early flights out"
Bill B, 02 Janvier 2016

Nov 17 2015 - Right across the street - if you have a 7AM or earlier flight this is an excellent spot to sleep for the night before your flight. Two pools and a whirl pool are nice - Food and drinks are typical US prices though.

"great value and convenience"
234aynb, 27 Décembre 2015

we have stayed here multiple times when traveling to/from Managua. Friendly helpful staff, clean rooms, and a great restaurant keep us coming back. Directly across from the airport makes this stay super convenient.

"Convenient"
terryfimbres, 20 Décembre 2015

The rooms are very clean . It is very convenient to be across from the airport. They will meet you at the baggage claim and walk you through customs. It makes for an easy entry into Nicaragua. I stay here coming and going to Nicaragua. I have always enjoyed my stay.

"Disappointing all around"
iluv2travel4fun, 11 Décembre 2015

When I got to the hotel a large group was checking in ahead of me and they only had 2 people working the desk so I had to wait for about 15 minutes to get my room key, no directions on where the room was and before I could ask the clerk had moved on to the next person. The room was very dark and very small and the wifi didn't work in the room. There was a coffee maker (with instant coffee) in the room but no cups or glasses. One of the bath towels had a hole in it. The food in the restaurant was awful. It really tasted like someone who didn't know how to use a microwave had heated up a frozen dinner, soggy and cold in the middle. On the plus side they have great mattresses.

"Convenient to Airport "
Gypsy_Adventure1, 05 Décembre 2015

This is located directly across the street from the airport so I booked it with plans to walk to the hotel after our 1am arrival. I was pleasantly surprised to find a greeter in the baggage claim area that helped us quickly get through customs, assist with our bags and shuttle us to the hotel. The rooms are clean and the breakfast was good so it's a great overnight stop when passing through Managua. My only criticism is the hallway noise as carts travel on the tile floors. Request a room as far from the lobby as possible to minimize the early morning hallway traffic.

"Airport Hotel with Great Rooms"
casey j, 03 Décembre 2015

Literally across the street from the airport, big hotel with motel style rooms. Restaurant was under construction but the food and service was pretty good (a bit slow but they were quite busy). Room was quaint but had everything you needed. As other places in Nicar, no wash cloths nor hot water. My rating is based on Nicar standards; this would be a 2.5-3 star hotel via American standards. Clean and convenient. Would stay here again.

"Right across the road from Sandino airport"
Herman M, 01 Décembre 2015

I've stayed at Las Mercedes almost every year since 1988. It keeps getting better and better. The grounds are lovely. The restaurant is pretty good, although in November, 2015, it was being remodeled, and we had to go to a back-up restaurant. Now it has hot water--not every hotel in Nicaragua has this. They have a good system where a staff person is waiting for you at the airport. Then he calls for the shuttle, which arrives within a few minutes. Very efficient system. A good choice because when you arrive you'll be tired, and this restaurant is literally across the road from Sandino airport. (Not a good idea to walk across the highway, however. Wait for the shuttle.)

"This is where you stay for the airport"
MarkfromMaine1, 29 Novembre 2015

Perfectly nice and very well situated to the airport (but still nice they drive you across the road). A great break between surf camp and heading home. Two nice pools, small rooms with A/C and a TV, people were very nice. Had a good meal at the hotel also.

"Only If you need to be nearby the airport"
nnayyann, 28 Novembre 2015

We decided to stay at the best western because its location, right across the street from the airport. Therefore the location is great if you plan on flying early in the morning. It is far from anything else than the airport. It took us 20 minutes to go downtown to get diner. The hotel is depressing and not well maintained. It is really expensive for the county, we paid $100 for a one bedroom. The room is so old that it seems dirty (even though it was probably cleaned). The wifi barely worked. Try to stay away from this place and enjoy a nice place in Granada instead. The 1 hour drive is really worth it!

"nice hotel"
dakgrl, 24 Novembre 2015

Better than I expected based on some of the reviews. Does not feel like a Best Western at all. very local feel. quiet, pretty grounds. great pool area w/ large clean pool. Room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was included. always saw staff cleaning and tending to the grounds.

"Great airport location, garden like grounds "
Denise0086, 24 Novembre 2015

This hotel is opposite Managua airport , less than 250m walk from the exit. The palm and fern gardens make it unexpectedly tranquil. The rooms have modern showers, air con ,wifi and comfy beds. There is an excellent breakfast of cereal fruit juice , fresh fruit, toast and omelettes cooked to order . Staff speak English . Restaurant apparently serves til 11pm but we dd not try. Friendly .

"Convenient and modern"
Boogie384, 21 Novembre 2015

This large garden-style hotel is across the street from the International Airport, which is extraordinarily convenient for outbound or inbound travelers. My wife and I stayed there one night in order to catch an early morning flight. The property is immense with convention rooms, two swimming pools, and about 150 single-story rooms. The rooms are well designed and clean, the food was good, and we highly recommend it.

"Has not changed much since 12 years ago..."
nicaralph, 21 Novembre 2015

Value rated type hotel is what you get... If you understand this OK. Seems they just miss the details.... with a little more hands on Management it could be very nice and train the staff. Grounds are "Old Managua and very nice. Seems not to have personal pride in product & service.

"Always an excellent experience over the past 8 yrs. My last experience is a testament to the quality of professionalism!"
Patrick H, 18 Novembre 2015

I have been traveling to Nicaragua from Florida 1 to 2 times per year for the past 8 years. Each and every time that I have visited Nicaragua I have stayed at the Best Western Las Mercedes in Managua upon my arrival and my departure. The hotel is very convenient in terms of access to the airport in Managua as it is directly across the street from the airport. For my first visit to Nicaragua, a friend of mine recommended that I book at room here on my way home to Florida as my flight was early in the morning and staying at this hotel the evening before my flight would allow me to access my early morning flight without any hassle. I literally woke up, walked across the street, and checked into my flight home within 10 minutes. From that point on, over the course of 12 trips to Nicaragua, I have always stayed at Las Mercedes during my visits and recommend the hotel to all of my friends who travel to Nicaragua. Aside from the convenience of being located less than a 3 minute walk across the street to the airport in Managua from the front door, there are so many positives about staying at the Best Western Las Mercedes. The hotel is extremely clean. The customer service and employees speak many different languages and are as friendly as you could imagine. The restaurant and restaurant staff are outstanding. My friends and I love eating breakfast and dinner at this hotel. The food is delicious. Typically after a stay in Nicaragua, my friends and I will stay at the hotel for two evenings so that we have a full day to spend at the hotel pool (there are a few of them) and bar area for the afternoon before exploring Managua in the evening. The main pool and bar area is very relaxing, spending a day there has become a tradition with my friends and I. Across the board, the Best Western Managua exceeds your expectations. Most recently, I was reminded of how professional, genuine, and friendly the Las Mercedes staff is. After a two evening stay prior to my departure home to Florida, I arrived at the airport around 6:00am to catch my flight with Copa Airlines. Upon my arrival I was told by Copa Airlines that because I changed my ticket itinerary a week prior, the would not be able to fit my two surfboards on the flight home. Caught by surprise and worries about the $2200 investment I had in my two boards and board bag, I walked my board bag and boards back across the street to the Best Western. Sweating, panicked that I may not see my boards again, let alone make my flight out... I asked the front desk if it were possible to leave my board bag and boards behind with them for 2-3 weeks until a friend of mine that lives in Nicaragua full time could pick them up for me and hold onto them until I visited again. The staff members at the Best Western Las Mercedes immediately said "of course, we would be happy to assist you" and before I knew it they took down my information, took the board bag off my hands to store it safely, and wished me a safe trip home. I made my flight, relieved and very grateful. After a few weeks of trying to arrange a drive to pick my board bag and boards up at the hotel to drop off at a friends house in Tola for safe keeping, I emailed their staff to make sure that they still have my boards. The staff emailed me back within 4 hours of my original inquiry and assured me that they have my board bag and boards, and would hold onto them until someone could pick them up for me. All I needed to do was provide them the contact information of the person picking them up and they would see that my boards got to the correct person in good care. I left my boards at the Best Western on September 27th. It is now, November 18th and the staff at the Best Western has kept my boards in safe keeping for me for this entire time as I have had trouble finding someone to pick them up for me since I left on 9/27. This is an great testament to the type of people and professionalism at this hotel. I am so grateful for the staff at the Best Western Managua and will be visiting Nicaragua again on December 2nd. I look forward to delivering a few huge hugs and thanking their staff sincerely for being there for me and my prized possessions without reserve. Thank you to the entire staff at the Best Western Las Mercedes! I cannot express my gratitude for my past experiences enough! Aloha, Patrick Harnett

"Great location, terrible rooms"
Rob H, 18 Novembre 2015

Was charged $85 (about $100 with taxes) for one room for two people. Great location, right across from airport. Room looked as though it hadn't changed from 1970, which is okay with me, but found out early in the morning right before leaving for my flight that the shower would only spew out very hot water. Cold water was either out or wouldn't turn on. Waited for 5 minutes on both handles, only hot available. Couldn't shower due to it being burning hot. Didn't have time to request a change of rooms due to flight. Lobby staff took my contact info and said they would pass it on to the manager. So far no contact. Really poor hotel/room.

"Clean, convenient and Friendly"
Kurt N, 14 Novembre 2015

The hotel is just a short walk from the Airport terminal. Staff is attentive and friendly and the desk staff speak pretty good English if your Spanish is not up to par. Rooms are clean and the AC worked great! Great buffet breakfast in the mornings. It was nice to soak in the pool in the evening to escape the hot humid weather for a while.

"Great facility"
David M, 14 Novembre 2015

Could not be a better location than a 3 minute walk from leaving Managua Airport to front desk at Las Mercedes. Reasonable rates, which include a breakfast buffet....get the 3 egg in late with your choice of ingredients. Rooms clean, a/c works wonderfully. Have stayed there each trip to Nicaragua.

"Great"

This is a great hotel. Service was great. The price was right. The staff was very supportive and helpful. It is a nice, clean, and safe place to stay. I have stayed there several times and have had good experiences.

"Across the street from the airport"
jay5100, 12 Novembre 2015

This hotel is good. I found the prices in the restaurant to be more expensive than you would pay in other parts of Nicaragua. The rooms are clean and the service is good. The location is the main reason I stayed here. The hotel is literally right across the street from the airport, making it the only place to stay to catch those early morning flights.

"Nice place to stay. "

I found it surprisingly a nice place to stay. Location, location, and it's right next to the airport. You can walk it- it's about 3 minutes. Just turn left when you exit the airport. Just be careful crossing the busy road. Alternatively you could get the free shuttle bus :P -Rooms and bathroom were very clean with Decent aircon. -It's quite a big hotel. More of a resort style with two large sized pools and a basic gym. -I wasn't far from the road/airport and I could hardly hear any noise. -good security -good buffet breakfast (included in the price) -Staff were helpful and friendly. They even drove me across the street to the airport and back just so I could use an ATM (didn't charge me either). I would recommend this place.

"My experience here is average. Good breakfast."

Rooms feel like your traveling to the 70's. The staff are not nice, they don't care about your personal need (or special needs). Seems that they dont have good training. The breakfast is the good thing here. Fresh and hot, and good flavor.

"Decent overall, but don't trust the fees quoted by the doormen/hotel for their "shuttle/taxi""
Joe D, 13 Octobre 2015

Had an overall good stay but had to write a review to make people aware of the way this hotel handles fees for taxis/transportation.. I stayed here with a buddy I had met traveling through Nicaragua. We decided to stay at Las Mercedes because we both had early flights the next day & the hotel is right across the street from the airport. We got there mid day & needed to get a couple things in town at a local shopping mall. When my buddy (doesn't speak much spanish) asked about the cost for a taxi, they told him it would be about $40, but could use their shuttle, which was basically a car/sedan, similar to most of the taxi's in town. I met him in the lobby, asked about the cost, which I speak spanish, they quoted $17, but said there were no other options other than the hotel "shuttle/taxi". $17 in a taxi had gotten me about an hour & a half ride earlier in the week so I knew this didn't seem right. Upon getting into the car, I talked to the driver & he got it approved (called back to the hotel) to do the run for $11, which was still extremely expensive for a couple miles to the mall (metrocentro). on the way back we hailed a cab for 80 Cords (about $3). This was just very frustrating because the hotel basically said there were no other options & you had to take their shuttle service, then tried to overtly rip us off. When staying as a guest of a hotel (and paying a large amount of $ comparably in Nica), you'd think you can trust them as you are patrons. Not the case. All in all, everything else was pretty good (other than the highest priced beers that I had seen all week at the hotel/pool bar). Btw, you can get one of the taxis from across the street at the airport. Cheers.

"Las Mercedes Best Western, Managua, NI"
CarolSpringfieldIL, 12 Octobre 2015

We always stay at this Best Western when traveling into and out of Nicaragua. We are usually traveling Bluefields and spend the night at this Inn, sometimes we stay here when in transit to Costa Rica on missions or when traveling to other Latin American countries. This is our preferred hotel. The staff are welcoming - all those we encounter from check-in to check-out. They are remodeling so be patient and enjoy the stay.

"Wonderful Hotel Just Across Airport"
Maritza518, 05 Octobre 2015

The food and restaurant staff of this wonderful hotel are very kind and helpful. The Front Desk Staff are definitely not as pleasant as the other staff; especially the male staff. The grounds are magnificent and holds some beautiful old trees and quite nice to have a wonder around. The food at the pool bar was outstanding. Certainly would prefer to stay there because of the proximity to the airport.

"Improve"
marioaM6325XR, 05 Octobre 2015

I have stayed at this hotel for several years... This visit showed me that they are serious at making improvements... I must say the place was clean, internet was spot on... good deal for the convenience of being across the street from the Airport. New Restaurant on the way ... I rate this hotel among the best in Managua...

"Shared room with uninvited bugs"
xiomaraaliciaf, 28 Septembre 2015

Bugs in rooms is disgusting and unacceptable Hotel needs serious upgrade Water leaks on hallways, free shower going to your rooms, good luck if you are coming back from an event on high heels. What you get for the value is between average and poor as long as you get rid the the BUGS!

"It has its moments"
John V, 19 Septembre 2015

Stayed here twice on the way in and on the way out of Nicaragua. The place is clean, well maintained, the swimming pools are beautiful and clear. Wi-Fi leave something to be desired as it is hard to get in the rooms. The restaurant is being renovated but the food is good and I found the prices reasonable.. I paid $95 us a night plus tax and the room was well worth it. It is clean, the air conditioning is good, flat screen TV with BBC and CNN news. I've slipped in better rooms but for one or two nights it is not uncomfortable. The furnishings are hard to describe but adequate. As in any Central or South American Hotel there are not enough outlets for power-hungry North Americanos. You can't beat the proximity to the airport. If you're really cheap you can walk right across the main road, but it's very busy. The hotel has a shuttle that will pick you up and bring you back. Staff is friendly and most speak enough English that if your Spanish is not good it's not a problem. All in all I will definitely stay here again.

"Location good, city bad"
Sabi315, 13 Septembre 2015

Did not like Managua at all. This hotel was across the street. The room was clean, food was good and so was the pool. I felt like I was in a security compound because I was told (and felt) that Managua is not a friendly city
