    « Birthday weekend away »

Staff were great! Room was comfortable and the price was reasonable! Lovely stay! Especially the lovely ?happy birthday'dessert plate that was in the room to welcome us! Would stay again if visiting Derry! Only con which was it was out a bit from city 15 mins, so you would be better off with a car! ??

    « Great Wedding Venue »

We had our wedding here on 5/5/2018 and we really couldn't have picked a better venue. The room was perfect and the team at the White horse Hotel were very helpful in setting up everything for us. The food was exceptional. The staff were superb and went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect throughout the day. Special thanks to Ramona with the pre-wedding planning and to Kimberly who made sure everything run smoothly on the day. We had an amazing day and we highly recommend having your wedding here! « Family meal - great venue for familty event »

We hosted a meal, following a funeral service in the city, at the White Horse. Graciously handled by Kimberly and Selena from out enquiry call. We had a great room, and a really fine meal and plenty of time for generations of the extended family, circa sixty, to both enjoy their meal, and catch-up. What warm family hotel experience.

« Just a great place to host an event - we'll be back! »

We hosted an endurance cycling race from this hotel over the weekend of April 28th-29th. Kimberly and the events team walked us through all the options and were more than helpful when we made a few requests, such as create a Start/Finish area in the carpark and keep it up for 44 hours! We could not have asked for a more attentive events team or more helpful front staff. The food was plentiful and excellent. We'll be back!

    « Sons christening »

I had my son's christening in the white horse in 6th may. From the minute I rang to book it the service had been first class. As I had a group if 60ish, they offered me their campsie suite free of charge so all our guests were in the same room and the children had the freedom to run about and not annoy other diners. On arrival the room was set up beautifully. The dinner was absolutely beautiful and was only £16.95. Which was great value for money for the quality of the food. The staff could not have done more for us and nothing was to much trouble. My sister's had sore feet and they were given complimentary bedroom slippers. They even brought a sparlker out on a pudding for my brothers birthday on request. Would definitely recommend the white horse for any occasion, and will return for any future gatherings??

« Amazing, especially for price »

Kimberly was working the front desk, and she could not have been more professional, courteous, and helpful, (planning route for our destination to downtown tomorrow). Surprising excellent indoor pool, whirlpool, and fitness center. You can even purchase swim attire. King size very comfortable bed in a large mkdern room, with a dining table for 4. Large desk, and clothes closet, with tea and kettle. We have been travelling around Scotland for 20 days, and stayed at a nice B & B in Dungannon last night , and we have had some very good accommodations, but this very reasonably priced hotel is the best deal we have had, rivalling only the Corner Hotel in Carnoustie, which equals this Best Western Whitehorse hotel, only because the Corner had an excellent free breakfast. This Whitehorse hotel also has an excellent restaurant, and pub. It is conveinently on the outskirts of town, but still only 10 minute drive to downtown by bus, (stop across street) or 06 minute drive by car. It also has a large modern bathroom with shower, no tub, but like I saifd before, an excellent pool, to unwind in. Also, has spa with pedicures. All for only £58. One happy Canadian!

    « The perfect afternoon! »

My future sister in law booked her wedding with the White Horse Hotel in October 2017 and on the day she won afternoon tea for six. Both the bride to be and one of the bridesmaids were pregnant at the time and so it was this Sunday before we wre able to put the prize to good use. From the minute we walked in the door the service was impeccable, we had been seated in the sun lounge to take full advantage of the rare but glorious sunshine while we enjoyed our afternoon tea. When the food itself arrived it was clear that everything had been freshly made and displayed with the greatest of care. The fresh scones were soft and buttery and the rich chocolate mousse cups were a firm favourite with everyone. We were waited on by Hassan who managed to be very attentive, keeping the tea and prosecco flowing without feeling like he was hovering, and checked on by Selena to ensure everything was up to standard. After the sandwiches, scones and desserts were finished the treats kept coming, we had a beautiful plate of fresh fruit, meringues and marshmallows complete with creamy melted chocolate and finally a delicious lemon sorbet. I have been lucky enough to have been in the hotel quite a few times now and to have dealt with Selena and other staff and it has always been a pleasure. The hotel is always clean and relaxed and the staff are extremely helpful and welcoming. It's a mark of how welcome we felt that on a sunny day when the town was buzzing with the jazz festival that a group of child free Mammys could barely tear themselves away. It was the perfect afternoon and I'm sure we will all be back many times before the wedding!

    « Wedding Reception »

A real big thank you to the White Horse Hotel being the venue for our daughter's wedding. The venue was stunning the food absolutely fantastic the staff friendly. It isn't hard to see why this is an award winning restaurant, Noel your food was amazing a delight to look at and even better to taste. Special thanks to Ramona with the pre wedding planning and to Kimberly who pulled it altogether on the day everyone had the best day ever. The suppliers for this venue worthy of mention goes to Lorraine who provided the most stunning, delicious cake, Hudson Blue who entertained us for the evening and kept us on our feet, Ali and Laura we have some hilarious pics from your photo booth and Canterbury Tales for dressing the room. We stayed in the most amazing suite and we were greeted by the owner Mr Horshi in the morning as a large number of our party stayed overnight and again enjoyed another feast at breakfast. Thanks to all your staff who worked so hard in helping to make this a memorable occasion for my daughter and her new husband. Really can't thank you enough we all had the best day ever x

    « Great Hotel »

My family and I spent 2 nights at the Best Western and I wish we had stayed more because the stay was super comfortable. The rooms were spacious and nicely decorated. The bathroom was well stocked and the towels were really soft. Breakfast had a good variety of cereals, toast, fruit, pastries etc.. and the staff were very nice ladies who even offered to wash my toddler's cutlery as soon as he had eaten his porridge. There is a spa on the premises but we did not get the chance to use it.

    « Nice Hotel »

Nice stay along the highway near Londonderry/Derry in Northern Ireland. Ryan the front desk clerk was super. Helped us to book in using reward nights, gave us recommendations for attractions and supper, brought us a US plug converter, and was genuinely a treat after a long day of travelling. Rooms were comfortable, tastefully decorated. Breakfast in am was good; nice to have fresh fried eggs. Wait staff in restaurant were nice too. I would stay again.

    « First Communion Celebrations »

What a brilliant time we had at the White Horse on Saturday for my daughter's First Communion meal. All of the staff were fantastic and the meal was delicious. Would highly recommend having any occasion in the hotel.

« Lovely hotel and staff »

We stayed at the hotel after Easter and had a peaceful and relaxing 3 days there. The staff in all areas (reception, cleaning, dining, leisure) were welcoming, pleasant and friendly. We had asked for a room in a quiet area and the receptionist happily obliged; the family in the room next to us was quiet and respectful of others too. The room was spacious, with a super comfortable bed and radiators that we could adjust as needed. All meals were totally delicious, subtly flavourful and prepared to a very high standard. The leisure facilities were great and well-looked after. All in all, a really lovely hotel and we are looking forward to staying again very soon.

    « Best day ever! »

We had our wedding here on 21/04/2018. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. The staff were incredible, so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The food was 100% absolutely delicious, and very reasonably priced. The hotel itself is tastefully decorated and very welcoming. Special mention to Kimberly who went above and beyond for us, John who made sure everything ran smoothly during the day, and Jill who looked after us in the wee hours! Thanks for making our day perfect!

    5
    « Personal Service »

The hotel is nice and the pool is great. What makes this place special though is the staff. They welcome back us regulars with open arms and love getting to know new customers. Thank you to the whole team...Jill, Emma, Margaret, Albert, Lenny and many others. We'll see you again soon!

« Afternoon Tea and treatment »

My husband and I went for afternoon tea and a treatment. The selection of sandwiches and scones were good and fresh, the waiter was attentive and brought us more tea and coffee, we had a lovely seat in a little alcove in the main restaurant. Afterwards we went for treatments with Michelle, I had a facial and my husband had a neck and should massage. Michelle was very professional and I found the whole experience very relaxing. I also used the swimming pool, which I had to myself and the steam room. We paid £45 each which I feel was good value for what we experienced.

    « Fantastic hotel! »

Just spent a fantastic overnight stay, along with my friend, staying with the 'Here come the girls' package. From the very first moment we walked into the hotel we were warmly greeted and fully informed about all the hotel facilities and our selected package. We opted for the back massage and it was truly amazing! The ladies were fantastic and made us so relaxed. The 4 course dinner looked incredible and tasted delicious! And the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. That goes for every member of staff we met along the way...everyone made a point of stopping and saying hello. Your staff are a credit to you and we will most definitely be returning for another stay very soon. Thank you for a great stay!

    « Saturday stay »

Wonderful hotel. Lovely manager kept checking on us and remembered where we'd been and asked how it went. Had the most beautiful steaks in the restaurant with such lovely service. The rooms and pool are all spotlessly clean! Nice bar area with guy singing in the evening. Highly recommended!

« Spa day with afternoon tea »

I'm never one to write reviews! But I was so impressed with the service and food in this hotel I had to ???? Myself and my friends went for a Spa day and had the choice of getting a facial or a massage ! I had the back and shoulder back massage which was so relaxing and worth every penny, want to thank the laddies Michelle, Chloe & Michelle for excellent service & making us feel welcome from the get go up until we where leaving : ) After our swim and massage we went for some afternoon Tea which was out of this world & again the service was fantastic even lit the fire for us! I'm a cold blooded Human ?? Would be recommending the Best Western Plus White Horse Hotel to family and friends it says (Best) for a reason!! ????

    « Easter Sunday lunch »

A party of 10 came for Easter Sunday lunch. The food and service was amazing. The kids had a ball getting balloons, face painted and Easter egg haunt. We also loved how no one rushed us through our dinner. We will definitely be back. Well done ! #firstclass

    « Easter lunch »

Thank you for a great family outing. Loved the Carvery (roast beef sooo good) and the kids had a ball with the face painting and balloon animals. Nice family friendly event that kept the whole family entertained

    3
« Easter Sunday carvery and kids entertainment »

Had a lovely meal but couldnt say the same about the service or kids entertainment!!! Had to ask for our order for starter to be taken!! Waiter bringing drinks spent a lot of time walking around as we didnt have a number on our table! After we had eaten our main course our plates were collected but 15 mins later we had to ask for our desserts which were preordered at same time as starter!!! Waiters too busy setting up tables!! 2 out of 3 desserts arrived. My husband and I had finished ours when my son got his ice cream!!! Because of all the waiting we missed the start of the egg hunt at 230pm. When we went out at 245 egg hunt was all finished, face painter didnt allow us to join the queue as she was finishing up so all my child got was a balloon model!!! Easter bunny didnt come near our table in restaurant either!!! Although food was lovely we were not impressed with kids entertainment and def would not rush back for this reason ?

« Another successful dog show »

Lough Foyle Canine Association once again held its show dog of the year event at the White Horse. Of course our dogs are very well behaved, but they couldn't have been made more welcome. We used the ballroom for our show, and ate lunch in the ante-room/bar area, which was just perfect. We could keep an eye on dogs and were not in the way of other guests and diners. Staff were pleasant, friendly, and professional. Nothing was too much trouble. Another highly successful event.

« Spa and afternoon tea »

Have been a couple of times now with friends and then family. Really nice afternoon tea, glass of prosecco and coffee. Had use of the pool and sauna facilities. All friendly, helpful staff. Especially enjoyed the really relaxing facial by Michelle who was so welcoming and lovely. Would definitely recommend. Hope it won't be too long until we're back again.

    « Expected more »

From the pictures we saw on Booking this hotel it looked fabulous, our room did not correspond. Decidedly average facilities. Young man at reception could not have been nicer. Found staff at breakfast a bit off. Staff in bar friendly and helpful. OK for one night wouldn't be staying for longer. So, lovely people, decent price, but not much else.

« Favourite place to stay - Can't fault it »

Hotel is gorgeous, very modern and stylish. Room was absolutely spotless. Staff are all friendly and welcoming. Food is top class - best steak we've ever had! Enjoy staying here and honestly can't get enough. A joy to stay in. Can't wait to go back!! Can't recommend it enough!

    « 1 Night Stay »

On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who got us checked in and gave us some very good tips on places to go/things to do in Derry. The room was spacious and clean with an ensuite which was also clean and perfect sized. I used the leisure centre facilities the following morning before check out where once again I was greeted by a friendly receptionist who was very helpful. The leisure facilities were also very good. Check out was quick and hassle free.

« Mothers Day afternoon tea »

Brilliant afternoon out for afternoon tea. The price was so reasonable so I was blown away by all the homemade goodies. It all looked and tasted really great. We were well looked after and it felt like a really nice treat for my mum.

    « Weekend getaway break »

Great little hotel on the outskirts of londonderry..Very friendly staff and a warm friendly atmosphere.Very affordable and great value..Room was very comfortable. Food was fairly basic but catered for everyone's taste well presented and piping hot and good quality. The same can be said for breakfast which was hot even though it was a buffet style breakfast....something a lot of the big hotels can't get right. They have a nice leisure centre also with a full range of fitness equipment 20metre pool and sauna and jacuzzi. Also a full range of beauty treatments...All in all a jewel of a place and will return again soon..highly recommended and so laid back...thank you White Horse

    « Two night break »

Visited the White Horse Hotel for two nights last week with my husband and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff very welcoming friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely and beautifuly decorated and although not very large it had everything we needed. The bathroom was also small but no space was wasted. We stayed on Thursday and Friday night so the restaurant wasn't very busy on our first night but food was excellent and service wonderful. The second night was also great and the restaurant was much busier. Breakfasts were also very good and pleasant and helpful staff. We also had lunch in the bar on Friday and the sandwiches were beautiful. We used the pool both days and it wasn't busy which suited us. My only negative point would be that the ladies changing room could do with a deeper clean. Maybe I'm a bit fussy. Will definitely be back as we also enjoyed the shopping in Derry.

Attended a function with dinner beforehand. Absolutely superb quality, generous portions, excellent value for money and served by friendly and pleasant staff. Very large function room and well laid out by hotel staff. Booked for next year again!

    « Amazing hospitality »

I recently had my enagement party held in the Campsey suite of the white horse hotel. The staff who helped set the room up and looked after us all night where amazing. They had the place so well laid out and couldn't do more for us. I would like to put in a special mention for Kim who works there as she is the nicest most helpful person I have met in the any hotel. I can't wait to liaise with her more with regards to our wedding coming up soon.

    « 60th wedding anniversary »

White Horse staff were fantastic from first phone call to check availability right through to finding a bangle dropped by a guest the day after the event. Kimberley was so accommodating from day one. She took time to understand our needs, made some great suggestions and we had a lovely room which really suited our needs. They put together an impressive menu which proved to be delicious on the night with lots of positive comments from our guests. It was my parents' 60th wedding anniversary and Kimberley and all the team at the hotel made the event so special. If you are planning an event in the North West, I would recommend giving Kimberley at the White Horse Hotel a call. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. I don't normally do reviews but this was exceptional!

    « Friendly »

Really lovely girl on reception, smiley management and even the housekeeping team had a smile and a greeting. My kids loved the pool and it tired them right out so we could enjoy our dinner without them jumping about. Great value 4 star hotel.

    « Girls away »

A Group of us stayed at the weekend and had a ball. Really lovely reception team who checked in on us whenever we went past. Big bedrooms and good pool and sauna. Steam room a bit dated but they said it would be done up soon. Had dinner in the restaurant and some cocktails in the bar. There was a great girl singing in the bar too.

    « Reunion »

We arrived on Friday afternoon at the hotel. Lovely bright reception area. Check in was smooth and faultless. The rooms we stayed in were excellent, beautifully decorated and very spacious. There was a double bed and two singles in our room so our party of 4 could have stayed in one room rather than two. We ate in the hotel that evening. Food was tasty and service friendly and efficient. We spent the evening in the bar with, a few other guests. The hotel bar had a lovely family feel to it. Nadine behind the bar tended to our every need and remembered the rounds as the night went on, which is quite nice! Next morning breakfast was tasty, our servers were very attentive. On leaving the hotel we had a look at a recently renovated room (111) absolutely beautiful, if you are planning a romantic night away, ask for this room, it is gorgeous. We enjoyed our night in the White Horse. We didn't make use of the pool facilities but I will next time. Definitely returning to this hotel. Excellent value for money and a lovely friendly family hotel.

    « Family stay »

Cannot thank the staff enough at this hotel. They really seem to care about making everything perfect and will take the time for a chat or to ask the kids about their toys. Loved the pool facilities and had a great evening meal in the restaurant. Also enjoyed sitting by the fire with a coffee after dinner. Thanks all!

« Spa and afternoon tea »

Massage only lasted 25 mins and my friends lasted even less (approx 18 mins as I timed it) and it was advertised for half an hour. No water given at the end of massage either. I get regular massages and never have had a massage with no water at the end as they always say it's important to drink water at end of a massage. Afternoon tea was really nice, only complaint was the service. There was no one around and had to keep going out and finding someone to get more tea and some water and to give us jam and butter with our scones. The food was nice though. Used pool and jacuzzi. The toilets in the changing room were filthy. Definitely won't be back again. Definitely wasn't worth £45pp especially when could have got afternoon tea on its own for £12.95pp Please take this feedback on board in a professional manner. This was our personal and honest experience.

« Afternoon tea and spa »

My friend and I went for a back neck and shoulder massage and afternoon tea after it for 45 pounds each . We were very disappointed as we both realised after that our sessions only lasted 20 mins for myself and 25 minutes for my friend as it should have been thirty minutes as part of the deal ( this included getting ready and waiting ) . WE weren't offered water at the end of it which I thought was strange , I been to quite a few spas . Our afternoon tea was good , we were given prosecco and tea ( only breakfast tea offered) scone sandwiches and the sweets were nice . The customer service wasn't very good , we had to ask for the jam and cream and had to request water and more tea several times , no one came to us, we had to go to them . Pool and leisure facilities are ok , Jacuzzi in the pool section and the toilets were filthy , told my friend not to use them . Brown all over it .

    « Birthday party »

Had my daughter's 18th bday party in one of their function room, great place , great food, very helpful and friendly staff. Definitely will go back for party again. Highly recommended. Family and friends enjoyed the evening and all praise to the venue and food.

« Great Hotel, bad food »

Stayed here recently with my partner. The room was nice, claimed to have a fridge- didn't. Clean hotel, bit cold. Only bad thing I can think is the food from room service was awful and we were starving. I would recommend changing this. Drinks in the bar were amazing and the bar man was lovely.

Afternoon tea in the restaurant was lovely, good selection of sandwiches and tray bakes. Would highly recommend!

« Excellent stay with very helpful and personable staff »

Excellent stay with very helpful and personable staff. Nothing is too much trouble and all is done in a pleasant and friendly way. Great service team, would strongly recommend. The best rooms are in the new wing, especially the large family size rooms. Nice bar with SkySports. Good restaurant and gym, swimming pool facilities and meeting rooms. So it has most things you need for a family stay with a range of ages.

I came here with my family as we were flying out in a couple of hours. We came in and were seated immediately. I had the carvery which I found to be excellent. The food was plentiful and tasty. The rest of the family opted for toasted sandwiches which looked and tasted great. Would heartily recommend and will return.

    « Average stay for a lovely hotel.. . »

We stayed in this hotel last night. 3 family rooms 10 people for one Boxing night getaway. I actually am finding it hard to say anything good or bad about this hotel.... I feel it was average & could have been a hole lot more!!! Rooms where lovely & clean. We got a good enough B&B rate thankfully. Hotel was dead for it being Christmas period. The food was nice, good value for money. Altho they where serving a reduced menu & when booking I asked atleast twice for menu prices etc and was never told this. Pudding was let down... cocktails in the bar where tasty & Well made but expensive enough. 3 cocktails, cider, Guinness, 4 kids fantas £40!! The pool was grand nobody in it other than us so that was great. The man on pool/gym reception had a terrible attitude & didn't want to be there. He was rude to a couple out of our party whilst there. Staff didn't seem to have much Xmas spirt even tho the hotel had lovely Xmas decorations up. The guy playing guitar & singing in the bar was good. All in all everything was prity much average & couldn't think of much to make us drive an hour & 40mins back to stay. Merry Christmas all ??????

    « Enjoyed our stay »

Stayed here for one night with a friend in a twin room. The room was very clean and a fair size. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had dinner in the restaurant on the set menu which i found quite limited but the food we did have was beautiful. Breakfast was a great selection of cereals, fruit, juices and cooked breakfast. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would return.

    « Lovely Spa & afternoon tea »

Visited with my sister as a treat all booked through SpaBreaks.com We arrived in the morning and were warmly greeted by both the reception staff of the hotel & the spa/leisure staff There is a pool with a bubble jet area, sauna & steam room. Everything is clean and well maintained. The changing rooms are very cold so we appreciated the snuggly robes we got! The only downside is that there isn't a relaxation area, but whilst waiting for our treatment the leisure staff did bring a welcome warming cup of tea that we had in the reception area. The massage was good (wished for more, as usual) & we then got changed & went into the dining room for our afternoon tea. We were shown to an alcove and our Prosecco came quickly followed by our sandwiches, cream scones & naughty treats! ?? Great service & we have booked to go back again in December!

« Good at the price »

Stayed with wife one sat night in Oct after a bit of shopping etc in the city. For the price, was a bargain, and enjoyed the bar entertainment that night. Didn't have breakfast so can't comment. The only thing I will say is that the pool, as I had read in previous reviews, was indeed quite cool and we only stayed in for half an hour or so. Something which perhaps could be addressed by management.

    « Spa treat »

Fabulous hotel, staff couldn't have been nicer. Four of us went on a girls night for the spa package. We absolutely loved it. Rooms were lovely clean and tidy. Restaurant was lovely to although I'm quite a picky eater so the spa menu wasn't to my taste but that was a minor complaint. Pool facilities were great and the girls who gave us our treatments couldn't have been nicer. Thanks so much for such a relaxing stay. We will be returning after Christmas.

« Fantastic 2 night mid week stay in stunning room »

We booked a 2 night mid week stay in November as part of our 4 day holiday to Donegal and derry. So so glad we chose to stay at the white horse over the other 4 star hotels available in the city centre. It is a few miles out of the city but there is a great quick motorway which takes you into city within munites. On arrival we were greeted with such a lovely smile by the young man on reception and his customer service was fantastic and he never failed to greet us each time he saw us. This I have to say goes for all the lovely staff with a mention to the lady who I think may have been the manageress, she will know who she is if I say she showed us how to use the jacquzi? we had our 4 course dinner on the Tuesday evening and even mid week there were a good lot of tables booked. Food for both dinner and breakfast stunning. we will definitely stay here again and its because of all these reasons.Customer service is just so important and for me this hotel exceeds expectations, big thanks to all and we will be holidaying here again

    « Last minute booking »

My friend and I decided last minute to have dinner here before we went late night shopping, we where able to get a table straight away, the staff where very welcoming and attentive, the waiters checked on us regularly which was a nice touch, the food was amazing and very well presented, i would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a lovely meal in a warm, relaxing and very friendly atmosphere, with excellent customer service and great value for money, I will defiantly be a returning customer in the future

    « Ok stay »

We've stayed here before but felt standards have slipped a bit. The room was very warm and despite asking for the heating to be sorted out we ended up sorting it out ourselves. The room was quite small and the bed was hard and the pillows werent brilliant wifi was very irratic and it wasnt the easiest to get on. Thank goodness the breakfast was the saving grace. Lovely fresh fruit salad and good quality ingredients. Staff were friendly and ensured we had tea and coffee early on. If these points are addressed it would be a great hotel

« 60th Birthday Celebration in Hidden Gem »

Absolutely love this hotel! This is our 4th visit for different celebrations. The staff just couldn't do enough for you. We booked a family member and his wife the Donny Brewer suite for his birthday and it's just gorgeous- well worth a booking! The food in the restaurant is always of a high standard and nothing is any trouble. I mentioned to Ramona the manager that we were here for a birthday celebration and she made sure our guest was brought a celebration drink and sparkler complete with Happy Birthday played on the piano! These little touches make want to return. Have to mention the lovely treatment we also got from Theresa in housekeeping who was so pleased that we'd enjoyed our stay and let us see another suite for future stays. If you're considering visiting, don't give it a second thought - just do it!??

« Stay was ok- nothing special »

The hotel has extensive parking and is decorated well inside. The bar on Saturday had a few people in it so we had lunch there. The barmen were in slow mode but when the order was taken and the food arrived it was very good. The room is an average size and everything you need. We visited the leisure center and was told that they had run out of towels so we had to use our room towels. The assistant said he will get them replaced. I asked where the spa pool was but he said it was " broke today". Back in the room I rung for more towels - which arrived promptly. At 12.04 the next morning the room attendant let herself into our room while we were dressing- only to tell us there's no hurry in checking out!! It is a nice hotel - just a couple of things need to be addressed to make it better.

« Handy location for Derry (londonderry) and airport »

We arrive a little before check time staff were most helpful and confirmed the room was ready. Breakfast was fine and the one evening meal was nicely presented with the staff checking from time to time was the meal to our liking and did we want more drinks.

« just passing by, great stay! »

we stayed just for one night on our way to the giant's causeway; the hotel was easy to find, with parking spaces available, a short drive from Derry. the room was comfortable and clean; we were glad to be able to make coffee and tea :) the ladies at the reception were lovely, we appreciated the map of Derry that helped us have a pleasant evening in town. overall we're satisfied and will recommend this hotel!

« I will not be returning on what I witnessed »

I can not fault the food in this establishment. It was quick and delicious but it seems there is an Indian gentleman in the restaurant who is quite rude to younger staff member. We were situated in a box behind a wall in the restaurant, however we could hear a man shouting at a younger staff member so my husband went out the the bathroom to see if he could see who this man was shouting at but her back was turned. I am unsure what it was about but the young girl politely asked the man if he would please stop speaking to her so rudely as there was customers about (making me think this was not the first time she had been spoken to in this manner) but the man proceeded to tell her to ?shut up and that he did not care'. The girl did not say anything after that, she listened to all the abuse the man was giving her about her being ?a bit c**p at work lately'. He then moved her somewhere we could no longer hear but after hearing what this man had to say, some of it I cannot bring myself to repeat, I refuse to return to a restaurant where older staff members think it is ok to treat staff in the manner he did. The young waitress then returned to our table to take our dessert order a few minutes later and she seemed to be agitated so we asked her if she was ok and she stated that she was absolutely fine then continued making jokes with us about a previous conversation we had. I refuse to believe that this young girl could be treated like this in this day and age. I will also be contacting the hotel directly about this.

    « Comfortable, great service »

Stayed here one night with our two young sons. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff all around was wonderful. Enjoyed our dinner at the restaurant. Having a little boy who just started walking, was nice to have some open areas where he could explore and not get in the way.

    4
« Great hotel well located »

We did have a great stay at the hotel. Though the rooms were a bit on the small size, the room was clean and comfortable. The restaurant was ok, not bad but not exceptionally good either. Nice hotel, well located.

    4
    « Spot on »

If you are in Londonderry this has to be on your list of hotels to stay. It is clean, well presented and the staff all have a smile. The food is spot on and for the cost of everything combined it is very good value. I will be staying again.

    4
    « Good choice »

Check in was efficient and quick, although we did not get the room we had booked for, a minor problem that was addressed by the front of house manager. Our room was clean and tidy, in places showing its age. Air conditioning would be an excellent addition. The food in the restaurant and bar meals were very good, limited choice was the only minor down side. Our complimentary breakfast was very good.

    5
    « Bad weather »

I just want to thank the white horse for all that they done for the people that got stranded in the bad weather as we couldn't get up or down the road because of flooding. Emmett took real good care of us and made sure we were as comfortable as can be. Thanks for the tea and coffee also.

« Great value, lovely staff »

Enjoyed a spa break here...deal was an overnight stay, breakfast, choice of spa treatment, 4course meal, a cocktail and small bottle of prosecco , all for £100! Great value, cannot fault at all. On arrival, I was a little wary as hotel is just off a main road and had an old dilapidated building on grounds opposite. But wow! It was such a surprise when we walked in. Staff are so friendly, not one ignored us and the restaurant staff were very efficient. My friend and I had a facial, the lady was lovely, the room had low lighting and soft music playing-so relaxing. Really enjoyed my first facial. We went to the bar and enjoyed a cocktail before going for dinner. Meal was great, good choice on menu and plenty of food on plate. The staff were quick to serve the food and clear away and again friendly. My only complaint was that duty manager? came into restaurant and spoke with guests/some people she knew but ignored other guests... not good! Next morning breakfast was again very good, fresh food, breads, meats, cheese and an Ulster fry. Food was hot, buffet style but fresh and tea/coffee and toast was served to the table. Altogether for the money, great value and comfortable rooms.

    « A little dated hotel »

One of the few chain hotels in Londonderry is the Best Western White Horse hotel, which is located on the outside of town. There is plenty of free parking at the hotel and they main road is next to the hotel. The rooms are average size and they have small safes and some storage space. Whilst the lobby area has been refreshed sadly the rooms are a little dated. The hotel has a nice gym and a good 20 meter pool. The restaurant options are okay but overpriced and the service wasn't great. Sadly there was no recognition of elite status with Best Western and no upgrades for diamond members. All in all a solid low end property which is well located if you are passing through for a night's stay

« Convenient for town and airport. »

Very friendly welcome when we checked in. We had a pleasant large room with opening windows. There was plenty of hanging and shelf space, a nice work desk and an area for suite-cases.Very good lighting in bedroom and bathroom. Bathroom had a walk-in shower and plenty of shelf space. The was a tea/coffee kettle set, hairdryer and safe. Wifi was good. There was ample seating, two comfortable chairs and a table, an upright chair at work space and a two seat sofa. The restaurant and bar served a selection of meals. There is ample parking. Although out of town it is on the motorway and is only a few minutes from the airport.

« Clean, comfortable hotel with very friendly staff! »

We enjoyed our short stay. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The pool was clean and quiet which we enjoyed for a short while. As for the room, it was clean, spacious and worth what we paid. The only down side was the phone wasn't working (meaning having to go to reception rather than call) and the to controller wasn't working however this was quickly replaced. All in all it was a decent stay and we would return happily.

« Mr and Mrs Knox »

We recently stayed here for one night and were very disappointed with this hotel. The receptionist was very friendly and welcoming but it was downhill all the way after that. Bath taps did not work and there was a smell from the bathroom. Hotel guests walked up the corridor banging on all the doors at 3am mostly drunk and there were still people who were drinking in the front reception area area at 10am the next morning. Breakfast was inedible and certainly not fresh and we were greeted by a man saying you've booked room only - we had just paid for breakfast at reception the previous night All in all we could not rate this hotel with any stars or and would not recommend a stay here

    4
« NIce place to stay a few nights »

Always enjoy staying here - rooms nice and roomy, not cramped, staff friendly & helpful. The restaurant serves good quality food and in winter the open fire in reception is a welcome space to sit and rest, read and have a cup of tea.

    « Nice and relaxing »

Myself and my wife booked this hotel for a couple of nights away. We chose the white horse as it offered a spa package which was what we were looking. We arrived at 3pm which was the time stated for checking in and were greeted by a friendly chap behind reception who also took our booking for dinner that evening. Our package included a stay in the Donnybrewer suite which did not disappoint. The room was excellent and just what we wanted. The meal in the restaurant was very tasty and would recommend anyone who stays here to try it out. Our second day here we had a massage booked in the spa and this I would also highly recommend. There is also a great swimming pool which includes a kiddies pool so is ideal for families, also includes a sauna, steam room and gym. Staff are very helpful and friendly and the hotel is kept very clean. Would highly recommend this hotel if it is a relaxing break you are after.

    « Anniversary Weekend »

Got this wee bargain online, 2 nights b&m with one 2 course evening meal and use of leisure facilities for £100 total. Was not expecting much due to price. Room was clean but average and in need of renovating. Did not use leisure facilities. Free meal was amazing, food was very good and service was excellent. We even got a free bottle of wine. Atmosphere in reception was lovely as they had huge open fire and comfy seats. Hotel a bit out of town but bus stops right outside and has frequent service. Would def stay again if Deal comes up.

    « Three Star........... »

I have stayed in a few 4 star hotels and I have to say the above hotel comes no where near to a 4 star but on the plus side staff , restaurant food and second floor rooms where first class but parts of the ground floor where old and worn out , the swimming pool water was ice cold and there where no towels at the reception area so we had to track back to our room to retrieve towels any how I feel an upgrade would be in order .

« Lovely hotel, great food! »

I stayed here for 2 nights with my boyfriend and we could not have enjoyed our time more! Lovely hotel with excellent facilities and incredibly friendly and attentive staff. We had a delicious meal in the restaurant (highly recommend the brownie!!). We only wish we could have stayed longer! Thank you for looking after us - will definitely come back again!

« It was OK, even if it aspired to more »

The hotel looked very nice, but there were snags during our stay, that were irritating more and more. We booked directly, as we had 2 nights, first for 3 and second for 2 people. The room was spatious, but was cramped with 3rd bed, that we didn't need. For the first night we got 2 sets of towels/robes/coffee cups etc.. We thought - maybe a child doesn't "deserve" a robe and didn't make a fuss, and then for 2nd night we got 3rd robe and 3rd set of towels... Nobody offered help on arrival, when we walked into reception with plenty of bags. Nobody asked at the end asked if everything was ok. There was no comment card in the room... In the leisure centre there was no shower gel/soap in the showers, so we needed to bring soap from the room. In general - we left the place with a feeling, that we don't need to come back, as nobody really cares if we want to. Pity

« Very disappointing restaurant experience »

A friend invited me to dinner recently in the restaurant of the whitehorse hotel. It is years since I ate here and was looking forward to somewhere different. The restaurant was lovely and very inviting so was initially impressed. The service from both male waiters was very good. However the food was really disappointing for us both. I had the chicken dish with the sauce on the side. It was really tasteless and the accompanying baby boiled potatoes similar. As I can cook a mean chicken dish at home I expect it to be at least comparable it was far from it. My friend had the sea bass which was over done not what you want with any fish dish. We did not bother with desserts. I did not want to cause a fuss to embarrass my friend as it was her suggestion. However I will not be back. Such a shame.

    « Disastrous service. »

Arrived at the restaurant at 12:40 and placed an order for a pannini and also a White Horse Burger. Three other people in the restaurant, two already eating, one girl waiting for her order. Few minutes passed when two other ladies appeared and another couple arrived some ten minutes later. Despite trying to attract the French Waiter's attention, decided not to make a fuss and just wait. 1:10, the two ladies were served their order followed closely by the other couple's order. At 1:20 I approached the waiter, who by this time was fussing over a number of foreign visitors who had just arrived. On enquiring about my order, he literally pushed past me and I thought he was going to the kitchen. No such luck, he went to the reception desk and stood there with a vacant expression on his face. I asked one of the waitresses who was passing, to take payment for the tea which we had consumed while waiting for the order. At this point the French waiter jumped to life and told the waitress that I had nothing to pay. I asked him where my lunch order was and asked what was wrong with him that he could not get it from the kitchen. His reply of "nothing wrong with me - its you" raised my hackles so rather than get into an argument with this useless poor excuse for a waiter, my wife and I left. If this person represents the standard of waiters the the Best Western Group employ, I have a feeling that the White Horse (which used to have a good name) will be relinquishing the BW franchise before they go out of business.

    « Worst Dinner Experience!!! »

Stayed in the hotel with a fairly large group and we also had dinner in the dining room. The hotel itself was fine though it's not near anything. Dinner was a disaster. It was an hour before we received our appetizers and another until we received our entree. Most of us left before the dessert came. Turns out there was at least one wedding reception going on and apparently the staff didn't care about our group at all. I would have thought they would at least comp our drinks but we got nothing even after speaking with the manager about our dismal experience.

« Worst afternoon tea experience »

Came here on a girls day out to have afternoon tea, on arrival we were told to go to the restaurant followed by a lady who showed us to our table, hidden in the corner of a empty restaurant, gave us tea and coffee and no milk, waited for ages until we seen someone to bring us some, the afternoon tea arrived, very VERY disapppinting, should me named miniature afternoon tea, no description of what we were eating or what even was in the sandwiches. No one came near us the whole time to check if we needed more tea or coffee or if we were OK, I actually got up and walked round the restaurant with the teapot in hand looking for someone to get us more tea and coffee to which I got the attention of the barman in the next room to help us. The experience was so horrible and the atmosphere and service was even worse, we even actually got up and got peanuts from the bar.

    « Weekend Break »

My husband Michael & I have just returned (well last Sunday) from yet another wonderful stay in this fabulous hotel, absolutely our favourite. All the staff our amazing, so friendly & helpful at all levels, just can never do enough for you. There are just too many individuals to mention but you all know who you are. Thank you so much for making our 92nd stay so lovely, hopefully we'll make the Century before end of 2017. And of course it's the Best Western Plus White Horse Hotel's 25th Anniversary of same ownership uncanny since it's also our 25th wedding anniversary later in the summer which of course we will be spending in White Horse Hotel (where else?) Thank you Issam & all once again. We look forward to returning again in the not too distant future. Carmel & Michael

« Terribly disappointed in this hotel not a four star quality »

Terribly disapointed in this hotel we generally book at least four star to get the quality of what should be expected for a four star. The rooms were nice and the beds comfy. The bathroom however was disgusting, there was cobwebs and dirt all around the sink area. The towels ripped, and the drinking glass dirty, also the pillow case had holes in it. Our room smelled of chlorine even though we were not near the pool. The wifi only worked for the first hour we were there after that it was impossible to get on. We couldnt book our next hotel on line. There was no other room to switch to as they were booked. After I expressed my disapointment to the check out host, she did give us our breakfast complimentary. Will

    « Sunday carvery »

Called in without booking today for the Sunday carvery. The staff were all very helpful and we got a table very quickly despite the restaurant being very busy. Service was quick and we were well looked after. There was a good selection of starters and desserts and the portion control on the carvery main was not in evidence as I watched the heaped plates being carried past. The carvery was fine, nothing special but no different from anywhere else. My only real disappointment was the pudding. I ordered the apple/berry crumble with custard. The fruit was delicious but it was not a crumble on top - it looked and felt like a congealed mess, hard to chew. I had to remove it. As a carvery meal I would say it is everything you would expect and for £16.95 for 3 courses and coffee (good coffee) it is good value. Staff also appeared to be very good at helping young children - chatting to them and getting extra plates etc.

    « Wedding reception »

We recently had our wedding reception here and we couldn't fault a single thing. We wanted to stay in the Derry area and the White Horse was the most welcoming of all the hotels we visited. When we booked our reception with Emma we were given lunch on the house - a nice touch! Kimberly was brilliant throughout our planning and nothing was a bother. The day itself was amazing! The decor, food, service and hospitality was second to none. We appreciate everything and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel to anyone planning their wedding. Thank you to all the staff - you are a credit to the hotel! Lorraine, Christopher and Callie x

    « Excellent spa break »

Nice hotel with really friendly and helpful staff throughout (this was a return visit after a previous good experience). Loved the pool, sauna and steam room and had a great massage. The therapist was really thorough in understanding how I wanted to feel after my treatment and left me totally relaxed.

« Fantastic hospitality, comfortable rooms and superb food. »

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel with the tour group we were riding with. We really enjoy our stay here. ALL of the staff here - Front Desk, Restaurant Staff, Kitchen Staff, Chefs, Bar Staff and Houskeeping - nothing is too much trouble, they are always polite, friendly and helpful and always treat you as a valued guest. The rooms are comfortable and bedding, towels and toiletries are of a very good standard. Our only tiny gripe is that the pillows are way too hard - soft, even feather pillows would be a fantastic option, and the toilet tissue could be better quality. We will definitely be back and wish the hotel andall of the staff a very good season ahead. Many thanks to all of you for making our stay enjoyable.

« Nice Hotel on outskirts of Derry City »

Spent one night for business here. Although not centrally located in Derry city, the hotel was very busy, as was the restaurant and bar. I ate there and the food & service was reasonable. The bar had a singer that night but it was quite late before he started to perform. A short taxi ride would be needed if you wanted to visit the city at night as the hotel is located just off a main road. The wifi was very poor.

    « Wedding reception »

We booked the White Horse for our wedding dinner and reception. We are very glad we did. The way we were looked after was second to none. Professional, efficient, accommodating and clear. The dinner was fantastic, a carvery style dinner where you could go back for seconds if you wanted! We also received a free night's stay in the bridal suite and couldn't fault it at all - we even had a small jacuzzi in the bathroom and a bottle of champagne on ice! Breakfast also good, wide selection and a good cup of sweet, strong tea (or coffee) available. Would highly recommend to everyone seeking a venue for a wedding reception, or anyone seeking a relaxing stay in the NW of Ireland in general.

« Decent hotel with good food and service »

I was at the White Horse Hotel for a wedding. The reception was good with champagne, tea, coffee and some nibbles. The meal was 4 course which started with egg salad, soup, roast beef dinner and apple pie and finished with tea and coffee. It was nice and was served quickly, the beef was lovely. the meals vary depending on the wedding package. Not sure which one it was. The bar was surprisingly cheap for two drinks (beer and gin and tonic) came to approx £7.50. The room I was in was No.130 at the end of the downstairs corridor. it was spacious with a couch, table and 4 chairs and nice and comfortable sized bed (King sized maybe). There was a dresser, iron, hair dryer, safe and TV. The bather room was a little small but was fine. I think that was the biggest room in that corridor. we had a look at others and they were smaller. The hotel is a 4 star but the rooms don't really reflect that. The service I received was good and I enjoyed my evening. I also had breakfast which had everything you wanted such as a fry up, fruit etc. There was a wifi network but I had trouble with it as there was a weak signal. I believe there is a spa and a gym so you could go for a relaxing weekend. Overall I was happy with my stay and the service I received.

Room very smart and clean . Good help from all the staff . Nice quiet stay with amenites available should I wish to use them. The location was perfect for me to get to my work .The dual carriage was near the hotel and give easy route to the centre of Londonderry or the Airport. The Hotel rooms were quiet and warm.

    « Date Night Package »

We had booked a last minute getaway and this was the best deal we could get for our money, you get bottle of wine & nibbles (which are a few buns) on arrival, 4 course dinner each in restaurant, breakfast in bed and use of leisure facilities, we had booked the suite as we like our luxuries... when we arrived I realised that I had made my booking and hadn't checked my confirmation, which had the wrong date on it for later that week, but luckily enough our room was available and it was no trouble at all to be changed as we had drove 2 hours to get there! The suite was beautiful, super king size king koil bed (amazing comfort) separate seating area, robes and slippers. We used the leisure facilities, had a quick swim as the pool was quite cold, used the steam room was fine but could do with updating and the sauna. had a beautiful meal in restaurant and drink in the bar and enjoyed breakfast in bed. overall was good value for money, would be a good base for exploring the north coast and Londonderry.

« DEFINATELY NOT A FOUR STAR ROOM.! »

My Wife and I stayed at this Hotel for one night only...20/21 April2017 We had Room 103 and found it to be extremely basic for a four star Hotel, with the walls devoid of pictures or other adornments The bathroom was antiquated with black mound engrained into the floor tiles and substantial gaps in the floor grouting around the bottom of the door and the shower curtain was dilapidated as was the shower control valves There also was a substantial damp patch above the shower head in the bathroom The toilet was situated tight against the bath and one had to sit sideways to use same The toilet tissue was inferior to anything I have ever seen ....it looked and felt like the cheapest of the cheap and not as one would expect in a four star hotel..in fact as I pulled a bit off the roll it came apart in several places ...obviously not having been perforated correctly There were wires showing in one corner of the bathroom which led to and powered the towel rail...which I doubt would have passed health and safety checks for bathrooms..wires in a bathroom are a 'no no' I understand There was no iron or ironing board as one now expects in four star hotels One of the bedside lamps was defective The wallpaper was lifting off the wall in places especially on the wall on the bathroom side of the room The room had a very stale smell in it which was immediately obvious when you walked into it and despite opening the window it did not improve We paid £83 for this room which is average for a four star hotel and while we did not expect gold and crystal all around the place we felt that it could have been an awful lot better than what we received I wish to emphasise that your Staff were lovely...very courteous helpful and professional at all times and it is just a pity the room did not come up to the same standards While I am not a person who airs grievances in public I feel it should be brought to your attention as this was not a four star room for which we paid for. I would normally bring this sort of thing to the attention of staff on duty at the time but I had an important hospital appointment and this was the furtherest thing on my mind We will definately NOT be back and definitely will not recommend this Hotel to anyone !

    « 40th Birthday »

My Mother and Sister booked us in for an overnight stay as a surprise. The room was lovely and very clean. I had a massage with a girl named Sandra who has just recently opened up her own business called bohemian beauty, which i would well recommend on my own experience. She was professional, friendly and the ambience and massage itself were wonderful. The meal in the restaurant was outstanding and the fry in the morning was one of the best ive had. Staff all helpful and friendly. Definitely up for a return visit.

Just returned from 3 nights in the best western. Could not fault the hotel one bit. From the location which was a bit out from the city which we didn't mind as we drive to the hotel room which was of nice size and cosy. The staff were absolutely faultless. The lady on reception was great from check in to check out which she remembered us from. The food was absolutely fantastic and so tasty!! The man in the bar was great too. Had an interest in what we had been up to for our time up there. Was nice to see. Would definitely return.

« Best in the north west »

My new husband and I had our wedding reception in this hotel recently. The staff could not have been any more accommodating. The premises are all very clean. Many of our family members stayed in the hotel too. The food was delicious, the rooms were basic but perfect, the bridal suite could be doing with a little updating but as a whole very pretty. We were impressed by both Kimberly and Emmet's outstanding service and attention. We would highly recommend this hotel for a stay, a meal and definitely a wedding.

« A comfortable hotel with good food »

We have just spent two nights in this hotel and were pleasantly surprised at how good it was. It is definitely much better than it looks from the outside, but its best asset is the food that they serve. We ate in the restaurant on both nights and enjoyed it thoroughly both times. Breakfast is also very good, its buffet style, with tea and coffee and toast brought to your table. Our room was also of a good standard, not 5 star but warm, comfortable and adequate for what we needed it for. There was a bath in the bathroom though it was on the small side, but otherwise everything worked well. The hotel has a pool and a gym upstairs where I used a treadmill on one morning. One negative point would be the wifi - its free but not strong enough and keeps dropping out.Overall, a good hotel to stay in when visiting the north west

    « Excellent Food »

We had a 2 night stay recently as we wanted to be reasonably near the NW Clinic at Ballykelly. (This location would also be handy for Derry.) Firstly I think the decor in the lounge bar and reception area could do with being refreshed but that did not bother us particularly. I have to say however that the staff in the bar and at reception could not have been more pleasant and welcoming. They made our short stay a delight and as the prices were very reasonable, we would certainly stay again if in the area. There were 2 big surprises for us. Firstly the gym and swimming pool facilities were much better than we expected - I wish we had had more time to avail of them. But best of all was the food! Having thoroughly enjoyed our meal in the bar on the first night we decided to eat there again the second night instead of going into Derry as initially planned. Both nights were excellent. Cod with peas can be a thing of duty when done that well and the tartare sauce was the best I have ever tasted - so often it is awful - and I would also highly recommend the salted chilli beef. There was no problem in having a meal from the well-appointed main restaurant in the lounge bar so that I could watch the sport on the large screen. Food was also very reasonably priced. Entertainment in the bar was also excellent on the Friday night. My wife rang the hotel when we were on the way home to check if she had left her book there, and indeed they confirmed that she had. As we were about 60 miles away we decided just to leave it, however they offered to post it to us and it duly arrived a couple of days later. Many thanks White Horse.

« The most perfect all round hotel »

Arrived at this hotel on Sunday afternoon. No sooner we where in the door we where greeted by a pleasant young girl called Chloe (her name was easy to remember as it was the same as my wife's). When we told her that we where down to celebrate our first year anniversary she congratulated us and give us a complimentary room upgrade. The staff where so nice to us and really made my wife and I feel very welcome, wish I could off took all of their names so they could be praised for there professionalism. The swimming pool, steam room and sauna was another highlight of our fantastic stay and we rounded that day of with a lovely meal in there restaurant, the food was absolutely gorgeous. I'm usually a two course type of person but their dessert menu was so tempting that I had to try the salted carmel panna cotta. We finished of our stay with our breakfast the next day and yet again faultless, buffet style breakfast and a lovely kind waiter making sure everything was alright for us. Couldn't of asked for a more relaxing stay or a better way to spend our first anniversary, many thanks and we look forward to seeing yous soon

    « Birthday Treat »

This hotel is definately a favourite of ours.Having stayed here numerous times in the past, it seemed the perfect choice for a weekend break to celebrate my birthday. The hotel is very clean and the staff are really friendly. On our arrival there was a complementary bottle of bubbly and chocolate treats in our room to help us celebrate- a very nice touch ! This was the first time we used the spa facilities and it definately wont be the last. The beauty therapist was very polite and extremely friendly and we both really enjoyed our treatments - a great way to start off what turned out to be a brilliant weekend!

    « Great staff. »

This was a lovely hotel with great staff. The reception was very welcoming and the restaurant staff were great. I had a fantastic meal in the restaurant and would definitely recommend it. I went to the bar later on and there was no customers in there and no one serving behind the bar. It was open but no staff. The rooms were more then adequate and comfy. If I was around there again I would stay here.

    « very pleasantly surprised »

Small hotel but very nice. Rooms are great especially the family room ..we had 2 boys with us and they got a bed each plus we had a kingsize bed and still loads of room. The shower was brilliant great pressure and the bath filled in minutes with lovely hot water. The boys always like a bubble bath after swimming and they were not disappointed. The pool was great.... also kiddies pool and toys provided to play with ..very nice touch. Staff were polite and very helpful. We had a wowcher voucher and got a great deal with a meal included...2 courses plus a free bottle of wine....all excellent.

    « Amazing Deal »

I just back from a girls weekend in the White Horse Hotel and it was fabulous. We got a deal for 2 nights b&b, one dinner, pre-dinner cocktail, bottle of prosecco, 30min massage and a £25 foyleside voucher. We also were able to upgrade the massage with a dermalogica facial for only £20. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating especially Simon who checked us in. The room was lovely and spacious. The hotel appears to be being refurbished in parts, the reception had been done and the section of the hotel we were in had also been but the section between reception and out end was a it dates but very clean. The food was lovely, great breakfast and dinner. The spa was fabulous and I had one of the best massages I have ever had. Everyone was so friendly and they were very accommodating as I was breastfeeding and needed to store my pumped milk which was absolutely no bother. The deal was fabulous, the staff were all lovely and we will most definitely be back.

« Good hotel, good location, good facilities »

I booked 2 double non smoking rooms. However one smelt very badly of smoke. I asked reception if they would spay some air freshener, which they did, but even the next morning the smell was very strong. We ate in the restaurant and had a fantastic meal.

We are just back from staying two nights at the Best Western White Horse Hotel and it was Brillant!!! We could have stayed on!! Hotel is lovely, well lit, pool is great and gym is great also. And the food .... We had the best meal we have EVER had on Friday night in the restaurant - it was superb!! Would be worth going back for the meal alone. Handy to Londonderry, lovely shop opposite, just lovely and relaxing, will definitely be back!! Staff very friendly as well

Really friendly staff, great facilities and swimming pool and welcoming accommodation. In the morning when we came down to the restaurant, the staff were really friendly and catered to all of our needs. They were always trying to help improve our experience at the White Horse hotel. Well worth a visit~even just for an overnight stay it is well worth your time and money.

    « Brilliant »

Another wonderful stay here again, the food was amazing in the restaurant, & the bar staff attentive ( especially James, ) nothing too much trouble, great service. It was great to sit in the lounge after dinner with a beautiful fire, just watching the world go by.

« Nice hotel, dissapointing stay »

I recently attended this hotel for an evening function and decided to include an overnight stay. Hotel was nice room was clean. greeted by friendly reception staff. However very rude female member of staff from the restaurant made it very clear that we would not be able to have hot food from the restaurant at 21.30, not a very nice experience. after which we decided to go to the bar and was greeted with a rude member of bar staff . As a result of this we did not include breakfast in our stay. Will not be returning

    « Great value »

Nice clean and tidy hotel , very friendly staff and good value for money The restaurant was brilliant only let down by the speed off service once they got busy , but the quality of food was not effected Nice sized family room Good nights sleep

« Good welcome, average breakfast »

Popped in for breakfast after dropping off family at City of Derry airport before the shops opened. It is what you would expect of a hotel breakfast with the following notable points: 1. It was more expensive than some. 2. The choice was quite limited. 3. The hot food was good even though from a buffet and there was even black and white pudding. 4. It is only a couple of miles from the airport.

« Good Location to Belfast »

We arrived at this hotel in a tiredness afternnon, so we really needed a restful bedroom. We stayed there September 2016, it was very good, clean bedrooms and bathroom as well. The location is excellent if you wanna go to Belfast. I recommend.

« Customer Service is alive and well! »

Visited this hotel on their 'Here come the girls' package and had a wonderful time. Room was spacious, well laid out and thoughtful as 3 glasses, etc had been supplied (we were 3 in one room) as well as 3 robes and slippers! Pool was busy with children's lessons but we still enjoyed it and the Sauna, Steam Room. Our Therapist for our 30 min treatment was just lovely and what a great back, shoulders and neck massage! Food in the restaurant was delicious - our 4 course included meal had a good range of dishes to choose from. But the cream of it all was the staff - they were ALL lovely, polite and very genuinely caring. Particularly the young girl on duty at the pool - she was wonderful. Thank you for a wonderful break.

« Where not to stay in derry »

I will start by saying if you wish to visit the beautiful city of derry then do not stay here it's not near the town centre it's not even close ! The only thing it's remotely near is a field of cows and a continual faint waft of cow manure that greets you every morning.the hotel room although clean has a bath the size fit for only a small infant! And if you wish for a shower then good luck I presume they intend for you to clean the entire room whilst your in there. All of us enjoy room service on holiday.personally would prefer if the staff didn't persist to keep entering my room first thing in the morning eager to turn my bed down before I've left it!! Word of advice to anyone who's modest they enter the room first then knock.so if u don't wish ur naked self to be seen then get dressed in the bathroom with the damp floor from ur shower, or be like me and bare all to the room staff. This hotel is more suited to funerals and conferences and you are felt to feel so on your stay.just to add free WiFi is free because it doesn't work so don't try. Lastly I will warn you of the food here and am gratefull I only dined on the day before I left ireland.i had the worst food poisoning from my meal of fishcakes and spent the last day of my holiday attached to the toilet of the hotel.whilst in there thinking why oh why I heard my neighbour proudly removing his dinner down the toilet via vomiting like nobody I had ever heard before. My advice is do not stay here do not eat here and do not be fooled by the location.my trip to derry was the most amazing experience and I can't wait to return.my trip to this hotel was the worst experience of staying anywhere steer clear all

    « Lovely hotel »

We stayed here for one night, we had requested an easy access room as I`m registered blind and the hotel accommodated us our room was lovely very spacious, on the ground floor and right opposite the leisure facilities. We ate here and the food was first class as was the service. The only fault is we couldn't enjoy the pool as there was swimming lessons on all Sunday afternoon. It was very noisey + children were jumping + diving into the pool right above your head

« Excellent hotel for business trip »

Great location for me when I work in the industrial estate beside it. Stayed for 2 nights, breakfast was good, dinner on the 1 night was also enjoyable. The menu was limited so we headed to Derry for dinner on the 2nd night. The room was clean and the wifi was good. I would stay here again. The price paid was excellent value.

    5
« Nice clean well presented hotel with great staff and superb menu »

even though my wife and I live only a few miles from the hotel, this was a special occasion, our 33 wedding anniversary so we decided to stay where it all started. Our room was a suite and while we've stayed in larger suites, this was completely adequate. The receptionist, Gill, could not have been more helpful, pleasant and profession. we booked into the dining room for 6pm for our pre booked 3 course meal. The restaurant staff were fantastic but the meal was superb. we started with chicken liver pate, the wife had salmon and I had the most amazing chicken tikka masala, overall, I cannot fault anything!

    4
    « Dining »

I have been to this hotel now for lunch 3 times and dinner once. I was really pleasantly surprised. The lunch menu is very comprehensive and gives you what you ask for without unnecessary extras that then get wasted. The food has always been very fresh and hot and thoroughly enjoyable. The restaurant is open all day until (I think( 9.30 pm), which is great if you decided to dine last minute. Staff are very helpful and accommodating and overall a really nice experience. Good job.Next I have to try the breakfast.

« Friendly staff and clean rooms. »

We stayed for two nights. The staff were all very pleasant and check in etc was quick and easy. Only problem was the noise during the night. If we're to rate the hotel based on how we slept, it'd be a 1! There was a wedding and hen night and being in rooms 102 & 103 EVERYONE had to pass our doors and people were chatting and standing outside and shouting and running up and down all night! Finished at 6.15am. We know the staff can't police the type of clientele they have, but the logical thing would be to book non wedding/hen people into the rooms at the back and away from the lobby area!

    « Spa weekend »

All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed the spa, we had booked a couple of treatments. The therapists were excellent. David at the spa really made our stay he couldn't do enough to make sure we enjoyed our stay. The food was lovely all staff were very attentive even though they were very busy. Rooms were very comfy and clean

« Good Place out of Derry »

This hotel is out of Derry but the price is reasonable, easier to find, quiet place, good service in the hotel. The room and bed were confortable and clean. Breakfast in the mornig was good and various. The hotel has parking. This my review is about the hotel the restaurant is different. If you choose this hotel you'll know the hotel is located near motorway and there isn't anything around, you have to use the car. The Wi.fi is free and quite fast

    3
    « A good standard. »

This was a very comfortable hotel for a night. I was surprised to find it quite so far outside the city, but the reasonable price for the room and the set course dinner more than made up for it! And, unbeknownst to me, there is a leisure centre, too!

« Poor service, no guidance for staff. »

Very poor service, food average, beef very good, carrots good, starter good. Eldest daughter asked for aioli on the side....impossible because it's included . The ham was very salty, suggesting that it hadn't been brined. My biggest complaint was walnuts in the chocolate brownie.....not mentioned on the menu and the staff hadn't a clue. I'm allergic to walnuts and thankfully only ingested a very small amount. Waiting staff seemed to have no concept of the dangers. When I complained while paying the young man discounted one sweet....not impressed. My youngest daughter complained at the check in desk where they were in the process of printing new menus but one would have thought that in this day and age of information, this should have been done when the sweet was put on the menu. Forget about the fact that I've never experienced walnuts in a brownie. I don't think I or my family will be back. Very poor for a 4 star hotel.

    « Nice place »

Good hotel very clean can't fault the rooms they are very well done comfortable an clean . Had food in bar both nights I stayed here very good both times .Lovely gym here with very friendly staff more than helpful to help you with your workout . Not to far from the city an plenty of room to park so all in all a very nice place to stay .

    « Very disappointing »

Very slow service even for the basics like drinks. We were there for Sunday lunch and although the starter was good the rest of the food was average. There was a lack of information on the menu, my Dad ordered the chocolate brownie for dessert and discovered that there were walnuts in it and that was not mentioned on the menu. The staff were unapologetic about the fact that he could have had a severe reaction to this and seemed extremely unorganised and unmanaged in the restaurant. Our party originally had six guests but dropped to 5 however when we checked the bill when we arrived home, we had been charged for 6 people. Will never be back and cannot understand how the place was ever given 4 stars!

    « Pleasantly surprised...fab hotel »

My fiancée and I stayed in the White Horse for 2 reasons...one to check it out as a wedding venue and two to get a night away from the kids on a spa night. The entrance isn't very much to look in truth but when you go in to the reception you're very pleasantly surprised...it's very light and spacious and the staff are very very pleasant, professional, friendly, welcoming and very accommodating. The room itself was very spacious, very well done up and cleaned to the highest standard I'm sure. The bed was very comfy and it had the usual bells and whistles. The spa and leisure facilities are fabulous...we were attended to by Sandra and she was brilliant at making you feel welcome and relaxed...brilliant and the pool was lovely and clean. The restaurant I've already made my review on...it was out of this world....the food and service was excellent and surpassed what we expected. Based on all the observations we had on the night stay and the wedding fayre we are delighted to say we are going to hold our wedding there. Many thanks for the wonderful stay!

    « Won't rush back »

Service very slow and it was not busy so there really was no excuse for the length of time we had to wait. Food much too expensive. Presentation poor. Having said that the chicken Gordon's I ordered were really good. Garlic fries and chips were also good. I won't rush back but I will try it again sometime in the future.

    « function »

Over this past two months we have attended the White Horse for three of our work functions. Two were retirement doos and the other was a leaving do. From our initial contact with the hotel we could only say everything was exceptional. The staff were friendly, professional, supportive and offered advice in regard to the arrangements. We had separate area in the dinning room which provided us with some privacy but also allowed us to enjoy the atmosphere of the restaurant. We were able to pre-book our meal and our meal was served at the time specified. The food was delicious. We could not fault any aspect of our evenings in the White Horse and would highly recommend it to anyone wishing to plan an event in lovely hotel with convenient parking and professional and friendly staff. We would like to thank Emma Functions manager for all her help and advice and of course to Monica Restaurant Manger and her staff who ensured we had a wonderful evening.

    « Bank Holiday Weekend »

I booked this stay through booking.com for a night away with my family. On booking this, it had stated that breakfast was included, only to arrive and at Reception I was told I had no meal plan with my booking. I was confused as it clearly said upon selecting my dates 'breakfast included' 'book now pay later'. Reservations explained to me that these were in fact filters that's you had to select. Perhaps they should reword this on the site as 'Please click here if you wish to add breakfast' and not 'breakfast included' as to me 'breakfast included' means 'breakfast included'. This matter was resolved but I just wanted to highlight to others this issue. It's funny as I didn't need to click the other filter of 'book now pay later' and this still stood? Also the images advertised are very misleading as the rooms looked to be new and refurbished when in fact they are old and dated with wifi not strong enough at the very back of the hotel, which is where we were placed. The bathroom was ok but the radiator was rusting away. The saying is true, you get what you pay for, so if your looking for a bed for the night whilst on the road then it's ideal :)

    « Highly Recommend »

My wife and I stayed at the hotel earlier this month. We are traveling around Ireland and was planning our trip when a lovely lady, Jessica, recommended places to go and things to see. The service was fantastic. Jessica ensured that we always had drinks and we were happy with our food shortly after it arrived. The food was fabulous, I could not fault it. Even with a large group in the other side of the restaurant our food as quick and the staff were attentive. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone. The restaurant, the staff and the rooms are difficult to fault. I will definitely be returning if we were to find ourselves in the area again.

Had a fabulous 2 day spa break at the White Horse Hotel in Londonderry. This break included a four course evening meal which was superb. We had a lovely day at White Horse Hotel for spa & afternoon tea. We both had a back massage & reflexology plus use of pool facilities. The pool area is a bit dated & could use a touch up. The afternoon tea was lovely with a great selection. And the prosecco was the best I have tasted. The staff were all great, friendly & helpful. Looking forward to returning.

    « Not too great »

Stayed one night, a very dated hotel, with dated bathrooms. Unless one wants to travel you have to eat in the hotel. Dinner was ok, but not great value, and bar food stops at 7.00 pm. Broadband was most unreliable and often none existent. Will do my best not to stay again.

We were staying at the Best Western White Horse Hotel, and our room was fairly spacious and overall nice. The bathroom seemed nicely updated. We didn't have any complaints about our stay, and we would be likely to choose them again.

« Great Girlie Spa Break »

My friend and I booked "Here come the girls" spa break and from the moment we arrived until we left we could not find fault with this hotel. The staff were extremely helpful especially Simon in reception and Hassan in the restaurant. We had use of the pool, sauna and steamroom before our fantastic massage in the spa. Later we enjoyed our complimentary cocktails before going to the restaurant where we also had a complimentary glass of wine with our 4 course meal. The choice of food and the service was excellent. I would recommend this deal for any girls looking for a relaxing night away.

    « Expected more from a Best Western + »

We had overnight stay here as part of our organized coach bus tour. The room was sufficiently comfortable, although internet connectivity was very slow, even in the lobby area. Our tour group was almost 50 people and we had an included dinner at the restaurant here. It took over two hours for everyone to be served. Breakfast was not any better. Many of us came to the dining area right at 7 a.m. (when breakfast was served) and the restaurant quickly ran out of items, such as the eggs and bacon. The potato pancakes were delicious, though. here are no pubs or restaurants nearby within walking distance, so the only alternative is to dine at the in-house restaurant. It just seemed that the White Horse Hotel was not prepared to accommodate this many people at one time, which is disappointing. T

« Clean hotel but isolated »

Hotel is nice, located just off the. Motorway. Only hotel restaurant so have to drive 2 miles to get a selection of eating places. Room clean, staff friendly. Fitness centre with gym, pool and hot tub attached. Wifi not very strong.

    « Enjoyable Stay. »

Myself and the wife stayed here last Thursday and enjoyed it very much. The Hotel is about a 7 - 10 min drive from Derry City and located on the duel carriageway beside the Campsey roundabout. We had a Family room which was spacious with a king sized bed and two single beds, en-suite was very clean and well kept, it had both a shower and bath. I would say the rooms were bigger than both Jury's and Premier inn. The food was very good indeed. There is a very good gym, as well as a pool, steam room(which was not working on our visit) and a sauna. There is ample car-parking. The staff were very nice and friendly. I will definitely go back again.

    « Nice Location »

We stayed at the Best Western White Horse as part of a group and we had a nice stay. The hotel is located just outside of Derry and a good location for touring. Plenty of coach parking and easy access to the hotel for a large or small coach. Hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. We asked for a fan to help cool our room and one was available. The room we had was small but comfortable. Freshly made shortbread biscuits were with the tea service - and they were lovely. Our room was made smaller as we had an extra small bed to accommodate our boys - but we had plenty of room and we were only there to sleep. Rooms were clean and comfy. We felt safe and secure there and if I was traveling alone, I would stay there. Pool and fitness areas were nice - our boys used the pool area one evening. The restaurant was nice, The food was very nice. The roast beef was some of the most tender and delicious beef I have had in a long time. Bar food was nice too from what my boys had and they had plenty to eat. There is nothing really in walking distance as far as shops or anything, but some areas where you can go for a walk after dinner. It would be a great stop for a business traveler or for folks who have transportation. Good central location! We would most definitely return.

    « Enjoyed our stay. »

We enjoyed our stay at this Best Western. The hotel is located just outside of the town of Derry. There was plenty of free parking. The young girl at check in was very friendly. The room was great. It was clean and big. The bed was comfortable and the in room Internet worked great. There is a nice restaurant in the hotel. The food was very good. Checkout was easy. We would stay here again.

    « Disappointing carvery »

I had stopped at this hotel with a tour group last year for coffee and scones and was impressed with the service etc, so decided to stop with my family for lunch last monday. We decided to take the carvery , which unfortunately was the worse carvery I have ever had, the choice was ham, dried up regenerated stuffed turkey covered in dried up gravy, dried up pork with onions on top, one choice of veg, creamed potatoes or white cubed potatoes which werent cooked properly. We were the first to be served and all of the food was luke warm. the waitress heard us commenting that it wasnt warm and offered to heat it up, I dread to think what the customers after us were given.Unfortunately my aunt who was paying for it would not let me complain at the time but I felt that you should be aware that your carvery is definitely not 4 star standard.

« Exceeded expectations on service and food »

I am lucky enough to work in the food industry and travel a lot in the UK and Ireland for work, so have a great experience of hotels, service and out-of-home food. I stayed overnight in the Best Western hotel and had minimal expectations on my trip, as Best Westerns can sometimes be hit and miss. Note, I stayed in the hotel in January this year and have only just got chance to review the excellent service and food here. I was really overjoyed by the service, I love that feeling you get when someone goes over and above their call of duty and the man on reception certainly did. He helped source me toothbrush, and hair product that I had left behind. It sounds like a small thing but the manner in which he did so was genuine! The food was exceptional. It was Indian themed, and the cod dish I had was amazing! The sauce had delicate spices and fresh flaky cod with added little Indian deconstructed bhaji was like something I'd never had before. I bumped into the chef at reception and congratulated him on his good work. I have rebooked to stay here again on 29th June it was such a good place. ? Hopefully the service and food was as good as last time.

« Country location, handy for the city. »

Decided to stay here on my visit to Londonderry as I wanted to be near the city but in the country. The hotel is quite nice and the reception area modern and airy. Check in was efficient and friendly. We had rooms 211 and 212 - both were identical. The rooms are spacious and there is plenty of laying out space. There is a flat screen TV, drawers, queen sized bed, table chairs, safety deposit box, wardrobe. The bathroom is quite modern but I didn't like the bath/shower as the water flow - on the hot tap - was quite slow( the water was boiling though). All in all a decent nights sleep. BIG beef was thta the continental breakfast which was not included in the room price - was really poor. Most of the food was gone and to be honest there was not much quality there. The music was just awful!

    « Beautiful for Weddings »

My friend recently had her wedding in The White Horse, and what a day it was! Everything was perfect, and the staff really went the extra mile to provide an excellent service. We stayed overnight, and found our room comfortable, spacious and clean. Breakfast in the morning was delicious - and restaurant staff very helpful. Special mention to Jill on Reception, and also Ramona who were fantastic!

    « Excellent »

This a quality hotel, the restaurant service and food was excellent. The room was clean and comfortable. Only one minor thing, the bathroom was a little small. I did not expect this standard from a Best Western, as I have stayed in others which were not so good. Well done White Horse

    « Very good »

Stayed here over valentine's Weekend. Lovely hotel...rooms are clean and spacious with modern decor. Bathrooms have everything you need and are spotless. Only down side we had was the service in the restaurant....1st night they got my partners order wrong and 2nd night they forgot about our deserts. Anyway overall we had a great time...we didn't use the leisure facilities so can't comment on them.

« Very good hotel and friendly staff »

Stayed for two night, and used the gym and pool on the second evening. Wish I had used them on the first evening as well. Very well fitting out gym and nice sized pool with sauna. Hotel Reception and staff helpful and pleasant. Room was very nice and clean. Bed and pillows both firm and clean, the pillows are a nice change from a lot of Hotels who think marshmallow like pillows are acceptable. Dinner and breakfast were both very good, the restaurant and bar staff were all very helpful and attentive. The only reason I have not given the Hotel 5 stars is the Internet access. The only place that there was a strong, consistent service was in the Reception area. In the bar, restaurant and especially the room the WiFi signal was next to useless. I was informed that this is being looked at, so maybe it will be get better soon.

    « Not 4 star for me »

First point for anybody using a GPS is not to put in Clooney Road to find this place but Donnybrewer Road! Located off a motorway the location is not very picturesque. Rooms are small and cramped. Breakfast was poor for the price in the morning. Overall very underwhelmed.

« Really good hotel, food is gorgeous! »

Stayed here with my family and we had a lovely stay. Food was absolutely gorgeous and staff were lovely! Our room was a little dark but it had everything we needed so we were happy. It's the perfect hotel if you want somewhere outside the city and I would definitely stay here again.

    « fantastic stay »

Stayed here 3 weeks ago, myself and my partner for 2 night break. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Are 1st room was not what we had expected and I think the staff member had seen the disappointment in are faces and came back to the room with a offer of an other room has soon as we seen the new room we were over the moon with it. The bar was llovely and staff was very friendly enjoyed a lovely strawberry daiquiri and a few glasses of wine. The restaurant food was amazing. All in all I didn't want to go home. Will definitely go back.

    « Excellent »

Stay here for one night as a group of 3, arrival very straight forward and welcoming. Rooms were clean and tidy. Went to the bar after food service had finished but we were still served. Food was outstanding. Stayed in the bar and enjoyed the entertainment. We had a 5.30am start, the night porter had made the three of us a full breakfast and nothing was a problem. Outstanding service from all the staff we met. If only all hotels where like this !

    « Left feeling misled »

Booked a package to get away for one day of walking and visiting family after comparing with other establishments. According to website a four course meal with bottle of wine was included in the package and this looked pretty competitive. At the end of the meal were presented with a bill for the difference with a voucher none of the staff cared to mention. We tried to clarify at check out but the Manager did not even attempt to apologise for what at best was a misunderstanding and at worst misrepresentation . The food was actually very good though the service unimpressive but what spoiled it for us was the feeling to have been taken advantage of. The room was spacious but cold. Could not use the safe as locked. The gym looked impressive. The pool facilities looked bland and in need of TLC and the female changing was out of order. All in all I seriously doubt we will be back.

« Good base for touring Donegal & Antrim »

Our room was well sized & comfortable although the bathroom was squat especially the shower unit which was barely functional. Staff were very friendly and the leisure facilities were better than expected. As regards the hotel location, it's far from a hop and skip to Derry city itself, but it is perfectly located for visiting Malin Head, Portrush, Giants causeway, etc.

    « Weekend break »

Stayed last weekend and had a great time from the lovely room delicious food and the fabulous friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us we will return. Although it is out of the centre it is a direct road into city centre and only took 10 mins or so. Pack a swimsuit the leisure facilities where excellent ????

    « Great Hotel »

My wife and I took our 4 children to the White Horse for one night and were not disappointed. I have previously stayed there on business and have always found the staff very kind, friendly but not over bearing. The food is first class and well portioned. We used the leisure facilities which were more than adequate. The only criticism I would have is that when you are booking online you confirm a price, only to be contacted the following day to inform you that your reservation would be an extra £30. We paid £119 for two adults and four children plus the extra £30 which totalled £149. So it can be quite expensive also taking into consideration a family meal in the restaurant and a few night caps. But overall very good albeit expensive. Maybe the management would consider family deals.

« From Whitehorse, Yukon to The White Horse Hotel »

« Here come the girls »

I arranged this package for myself and my friends and for £80 each for cocktail on arrival, 30 min facial, 4 course meal with glass of bubbly, bed and breakfast I was well impressed. The value was amazing. Resturant staff were so friendly. The only thing I would have any issues with is being offered a mijito without mint... as it was being poured from a premixed pouch. Since my cocktail was free I wouldn't worry too much. However when buying my own drink I'd be a bit disappointed with this, thats why we stuck with the fuzzy navel cocktails which were tasty. I'll be back, highly recommend this package.

    « Very comfortable bed »

We enjoyed our stay but there is couple of things I would change. What I missed was Spa menu in the room. I wanted to book a treatment but by the time I decided to go downstairs to the reception to see the menu, the Spa was closed. It would be nice to have at least some idea what treatments are on offer in the room file. Also the wifi was hit and miss. The on site restaurant had very good and efficient staff but unfortunately there was only two vegetarian options (pasta and halloumi). The halloumi was very tasty but as we stayed for two nights, we eat in a restaurant close by the second night as I did not feel like having pasta and did not want to have halloumi two days in the row. Also they had a young boy playing piano on the night we visited, and he was very good. It was lovely to hear live music, just 'loud' enough not to disturb conversation. Our bed was very comfortable and all the staff were great so if we are again in the area, we would not hesitate to stay here again.

    « Great Lunch »

I stopped here for lunch recently while on business. It was very pleasant, well presented, well cooked, well priced and well served. I would not hesitate to stop by again. I didn't stay overnight so can't comment but if I ever have the need to, I will.

    5
    « Spa break »

We had an over night stay for me and my mummy, a spa treatment each, 4 course evening meal and a shopping centre voucher. The staff couldn't have been any more helpful or nicer. Food was second to none. Live music in the bar. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Would defo recommend. Will be back again soon. Thank you.

    « AMAZING AFTERNOON TEA!!! »

One of the best and most filling afternoon tea's I have had! You get loads for what you pay. Staff I have to say were very friendly and attentive. Our afternoon tea was served in the lovely foyer looking out over a little side garden.

« Didn't get the room that I had booked »

I had booked a Deluxe executive room and we got a double standard room which i was very disappointed. I went 2 reception 2 say so and i was told that is was a deluxe room IT WASN'T!!! The room we got was ok so i let it go over my head. Also every morning when we went 4 breakfast we were told we were room only, which we weren't. Food in the restaurant was way over priced. Also on arriving when you enter the main door there was no sign 2 say where reception was as you are greeted with 2 large doors. We also went 2 get ourselves book in for a beauty treatment, but we were told that i had 2 ring David myself 2 book us in as the beauty staff r not on site so we just didn't bother, Goodness they mustn't need the trade.

First time at this hotel, from the moment we arrived everything was positive. Carvery lunch was excellent considering the number catered for. The staff throughout the hotel were very helpful and well mannered. We will certainly return to this hotel

« Not the Best anymore! »

Stayed here on the Sparkle offer and having been here on numerous other breaks had no qualms or worries about returning. Oh dear, now while the and good standard of house keeping is maintained the restaurant service was a circus. My seafood chowder arrived just tepid, letting it down. Main course came with cold champ and cold gravy with a skin on it. Time for dessert and time came and went for us and 3 other guests who waited 20minutes on it being plated up. We had all ordered the cheese cake eventually theirs came.. but then we were told after another 10 minutes they had run out! They did provide alternatives from A La Carte and were glad as the other 3 guests said theirs was awful. As a gesture we all treated to a glass of Prosecco. Gave up on the tea and coffee as it had obviously been forgotten about. After asking I was brought a single cup of tea, no sugar or anything else. We had such a laugh with the other 3 guests saying we might as well just sleep at our table as it was nearly time for breakfast. This restaurant used to be run with precision and flare sadly its all gone, and we decided after an uninspiring breakfast our Best Western days are over.

« Great Hotel and Staff You Must Try It »

Just back from a lovely break in the White Horse in Derry. What an excellent hotel . The Staff are so friendly helpful and genuine. « Second visit not as good »

My partner and i visited in the summer for an overnight stay and were very impressed by the hotel. Very clean, modern rooms. Excellent friendly staff, we used the pool and leisure facilities and ate in the restaurant, the food was amazing and we loved the cocktails. We used the taxi service and the hotel supplied us with vouchers which was a bonus. The breakfast was buffet style and although was only served til 10am we couldn't fault it. We went home and raved about the hotel. So getting the opportunity to book again we jumped at the chance, this time we booked a package through the website directly which included a 4 course evening meal bottle of wine, breakfast and use of leisure facilities for 99pound which is a great offer. Unfortunately the taxi firm no longer does the vouchers to and from the hotel so about seven pound in a taxi from town/station. Check in was friendly whic was good, we were in room 201, standard double which was smallish but well decorated and for the most part clean, we did notice a few cobwebs and a bit of wallpaper peeling off, just general wear and tear. Once checked in we went down to the pool, unfortunately there was kids swimming lessons on which took up the majority of the pool and was very noisy so we thought we'd just come back in an hour as the pool opens till 7pm but we were informed there was lessons on all evening. Very disappointing as the use of the leisure facilities was the main reason we choose to come back to this hotel instead of a city centre one. We decided to sample some cocktails before dinner, the first one pearl harbour was lovely but the second golden cadillac definitely wasn't made correctly and didn't taste great. Dinner was lovely, and the bottle of wine was a bonus. We had a restless nights sleep being at the front of the corridor we heard quite a few doors banging and guest coming back to their room and the room beside us was banging around quite late. There was a strange ticking/cracking noise thoughout the night, at first i thought it was the radiator heating up but i think it was either the window or just the walls, if ur a deep sleeper u probably won't notice it but as a light sleeper it drove me insane. The pillows were a bit hard for my liking too but they do have others available on request. The shower isn't great, small shower head that you can't detach with low pressure but nice bathroom with shampoo shower gel etc supplied. Breakfast this time was good, selve self continental and order of a menu cooked breakfast served with tea or coffee. We requsted a slightly later check out at 1pm rather than noon which was granted 4 no extra charge. All in all a lovely, clean, friendly hotel but a disappointing stay for us in comparison to our last stay. For that reason we probably won't be returning.

    « Brilliant overnight stay »

We stayed here on Saturday 20th February for one night on a Girls Spa Break package for my sisters birthday and it was worth every single penny!! Staff were fantastic - all very welcoming, friendly and very helpful!! We had a cocktail on arrival (lovely), dinner in the restaurant (fantastic) and when the staff found out we were here for a birthday they brought a cake out and sang happy birthday!! We then stayed in the bar for karaoke for the evening! On the Sunday we had breakfast and then spent the remainder of the morning in the swimming pool, steam room and sauna with a massage in the middle of this! there was no rush to leave our rooms! Before we left we had a carvery in the restaurant! the food was great , entertainment great, staff great and spa facilities great I would definitely recommend this hotel to all Thanks for making it a great weekend

We stayed in the Hotel for two nights booking in on a Wednesday and leaving on Friday. From the moment of arrival to checking out we were treated like VIPs! The room was immaculate and had lovely decor. Of course there were the usual free toiletries, tea and coffee making facilities etc. The towels in the beautiful bathroom were massive as well as fluffy! Maid service was daily! In the restaurant for breakfast the service was excellent with great attention to detail. The same applied to the evening meal which was delicious. The staff throughout the hotel were friendly and courteous. We used the pool on several occassions and also the sauna again all in pristine condition. This was our third visit to the White Horse and will certainly not be our last.

    « 60th Birthday Treat »

We booked a relaxing overnight stay as an extra treat for my husband's birthday took a chance on an offer we received by email that looked too good to be true. The hotel was ten minutes by car from Londonderry, very welcoming, clean and tidy, We arrived a little early for booking in and were given tea in reception while we waited, booked into a lovely room very spacious clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful we had use of leisure facilities if we choose to, but after an afternoon shopping in Londonderry we just relaxed in our room then went down to sit by the open fire before going into the restaurant for our meal and bottle of wine, which was all part of the package. The food was very good, I had the lamb and my husband the steak both were well cooked and presented, the staff were attentive and friendly and we were well fed after our three courses and bottle of wine. We sat by the fire until the evening entertainment started in the bar area, the male singer did a great job and sang non-stop for the rest of the night we were all singing along. Would not hesitate to recommend the hotel for a short stay.

    « January stay »

Stayed for one night. Reception and staff helpful and pleasant. Room very modern but only small bath. Good sized tv. Reasonable priced food. Only problem was I had an interconnecting room which means you can hear the tv word for word of next room and also any conversations they have. Spoilt what was an otherwise enjoyable stay.

This is my 2nd stay at this hotel. Great value for money. Lovely big open fire in hotel lobby as well. Room is more than adequate and very comfortable. Good nights sleep. Breakfast was served hot and had a great choice. Very tasty. Evening meal was fairly priced and great local produce. Overall happy with stay. One downside is after 7 days I have still not got my holding money back

« The most ill mannered staff »

Hi I recently stay at your hotel. First of all I would like to say thank you to the staff who dealt with us on our arrival, they were extremely accommodating. However from this point on everything went down hill. We were offered a place on the party night due to a group dropping out. Oh how unfortunate we all now feel for saying yes. The food was beautiful however one member of our party found a hair in her main dinner. When we made the staff aware of this problem they were anything but accommodating, in fact referred to our particular member as, 'That one.' Not only was this extremely ill mannered, it destroyed the mood of the whole table. It was even more sole destroying having to endure the mannerisms of the staff for the remainder of our meal, in particular two short haired blonde women. We didn't let this dampen our mood however to my absolute disgust the next morning as I was cleaning the room and sorting my stuff out to leave, it came to my attention that there were a dirty pair of boxers under the bed, which certainly did not belong to me and my friend. Surely the beds would be moved to ensure the facilities were to an extremely high cleanliness level. When staff were made aware of this issue, it took over 30minutes to address the issue. As the group and myself checked out we made the manager aware of the problems we experienced and we were informed that somebody would contact us. Still no word two weeks on, therefore one of our members emailed the manager. The reply was little to be desired, and we were accused of breaking a bed, which was most certainly not the case. All in all, I can most definitely say that I will not be back due to the service experienced by some of the staff. They were incoherent and very unhelpful and I have chosen to not state any names. If you are looking for a nice relaxing get away, go somewhere else. It will result in you leaving feeling quite inferior due to some of the mannerisms experienced.

    « Fantastic evening »

We celebrated a special family birthday in the White Horse Hotel tonight and had the loveliest experience. Such special treatment from our lovely server in the restaurant, Monika and excellent food throughout the courses. A special mention for the amuse bouches! The hotel has a lovely family feel and is beautifully decorated for Christmas. Thanks for a wonderful night.

Stayed here for one night on business and the hotel and staff exceeded my expectations. It may look dated but the hotel is more than comfortable and very clean. The food in the restaurant was excellent and very reasonable.

« Leasure facilities are excellent »

We have stayed here several times over the last few years, the hotel has been upgraded to a four star, which in my opinion is right on the money. The rooms are excellent spotless and really comfortable. The leasure facilities are excellent pool, sauna, and steam room. The food whilst being big portions is of a extremely high standard and definitely value for money . The staff make you feel at home, can't wait until we stay again.

    « Worth the trip »

Great Hotel all the staff was very friendly & helpful, especially Tyler on reception, nothing was too much trouble a credit to Hotel. Breakfast was wonderful. It's a shame I didn't get to try the restaurant. Although it's a bit out of town it's well worth the journey, will defiantly be staying here again.

    « Four star what? »

This hotel by far has a brilliant web site which is so deceiving. 80's hotel with good staff. The pool is terrible, cold and not clean by a mile. The tiles were black and the kids pool had debris. I took my kids out after 10 mins. No armbands for sale or to borrow. The bedroom was adequate if you were in a 2 star hotel - not the stated 4*. Grubby through and through. A disgrace for the tourist board to rate this hotel 4 star - what were they thinking? The dinner was good but the breakfast wasn't. There was little choice. We booked for 2 nights but had to leave after one. On arrival in the carpark we should have stuck with our gut feeling of not going in. Went on to Limavady to stay on a real 4 star hotel. Different world altogether. On the plus side the staff were brilliant - shame about the hotel itself.

    « Mixed Feelings »

Booked the couples night for myself and my wife as a wee treat. Price was very good and was easy to make a reservation. Grounds to the hotel could do with a an upgrade. Staff on arrival were very friendly and hotel was nicely decorated. Sparkling wine and treats were in our room which was a lovely touch and very much appreciated. Made use of the swimming pool and stream room which was very relaxing after a long drive and shopping in the city centre. Staff in the restaurant were also very friendly and the food was beautiful. Rooms were clean and well decorated. The only let down was when I discovered a facecloth in the top of the slide robes covered in blood and other bodily fluids. Took the edge off what was a lovely night. I informed reception so hopefully this was passed on to housekeeping. Breakfast was ordered to the room but had to phone down to reception as it was late and without sauces. I come from a hotel background and a few small changes this could be a fantastic hotel.

    « Fawlty Towers »

Booked a table at 68 Clooney for 6 adults and 2 children 04/10/15 at 2pm. Whilst the food was nice, I can only describe the service as akin to Fawlty Towers! When ordering starters we were told that there was no melon for the children. They made do with bread rolls. We had to ask for butter. We had to ask for drinks. When the server was collecting our starter plates, we ordered pizza and chicken goujons for the 2 children. The adults went up to get our dinner and had our dinner finished by the time the children's meals arrived. We had to ask at least twice what had happened to the relatively uncomplicated order of pizza and chicken goujons. When informed that we were still waiting (20-30 mins later) one of your waiting staff realised how ridiculous this was and ran towards the kitchen. You can imagine how enjoyable our dinner was, trying to entertain an increasingly hungry 7 year old and 3 year old, who had to watch the adults eat and wonder where their food was. When it came to desert it seems your staff couldn't coordinate that either. The children requested one 'poke' and one jelly and ice cream... First two pokes arrived and then two jelly and ice cream. Again we had to keep asking for what we'd ordered. To top it all off, a member of staff very promptly came to our table to ask/check what everyone had had... It seems they can be efficient sometimes! When I went to pay, he then asked me to sign up for a loyalty scheme, which I refused. It was like a bad joke. There seemed to be a large function going on at the same time, however this is no excuse for such a poor standard of service. Very off putting for everyone. We will not return.

    « Weekend break - loved it! »

We stayed at the White Horse for a weekend birthday break and couldn't fault it. The staff were more than helpful and friendly. The nicest thing was the owner and his wife were there and made everyone feel more than welcome. We dinned in the restaurant on Saturday night and the food was excellent. Would definitely recommend it and we will most certainly be back!

    « Choir Dinner »

On Friday 25th Sept our church choir (20) had their dinner in the Campsie Suite. I would just like to thank the White Horse staff most sincerely for the excellent dinner and first class service. There was an ample amount of food , very tasty and most importantly very hot. Thankyou so much Barbara McCorkell.

    « Nice Hotel »

We stayed at the White Horse Hotel as we wanted to tour Derry the next day. The hotel room itself was very lovely with lots of storage. The twin beds were the most comfortable of all the beds that we have slept on in Ireland. The only problem that we encountered was the shower didn't work properly as only the hot water made it through the nozzle. We told the receptionist so hopefully this is corrected for the next visitor. The hotel is located outside of Derry and is about a 15 minute drive back to walled city. We did not mind this as the hotel was very quiet and the drive is fairly easy. We did not have time to make use of the pool but they have excellent hours at 6:30 am to 10:00 pm. The wifi was free and worked well.

    « Lovely stay »

I was pleasantly surprised when I stayed at this hotel. The room I had was on the groundfloor, it was pretty spacious and clean, the bed was really comfy. The bathroom was nice, just was you need (if you're happy with just a shower and no bathtub) and spotlessly clean. Derry is just a short drive away. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
