Best Western Fireside Inn

My wife and I spent a night in the Fantasy room “Lords & Lady's”. The room did not disappoint. A complimentary bottle of sparkling wine was waiting for us in the room. Everything was very clean and well kept and despite the crazy idea of sleeping in a Rolls Royce…it was one of the most comfortable beds I had ever slept in. The fantasy rooms are separated from the other rooms which provided a very quiet sleep for us. The only criticism I had was the room temperature was impossible to control and was rather warm in the room.

Once you walk in, you'll understand the namesake of this property. If you like cozy, this is the place for you. Every experience with the staff was top notch. Be sure to take time to visit Tom's Place in the evening. You won't regret it.

A very nice place to stay. The stuff are really friendly and seem to care alot. You won't believe the complimentary breakfast. There is not a bad thing I can say. The front desk is always helpful and they housekeeping staff really keep it fresh.

The place is so well kept. Well beyond my expectations. On site restaurants were amazing. Friendly and welcoming staff. I have told friends of how much I appreciated and enjoyed my stay. I will be returning often.

The hotel is a bit old school but still so very nice with a fireplace in each room. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were lovely. Dinner in Bistro Stefan was amazing. The staff was so friendly and helpful.

Really cozy and well maintained! Staff were very friendly and location was great for a quick trip to the city to do some shopping and run errands. Really nice holiday decor! Breakfast while ample was short on execution…it's hard to run that kind of buffet when there aren't a lot of guests, I would imagine.

Great hotel, no traffic noise, nice sized room, comfy bed too! Breakfast was included so that was an awesome bonus! The website said "seasonal pool" which was annoying because we were there on Sept.30th (who would have thought an outdoor pool in Ontario would still be open?) we didnt bring swim suits, and wished we had.

We drove into Kingston on a sunday afternoon, and checked in to the hotel about 3:30 pm.This is our first time in Kingston for this time of year(september)A older Hotel, but was definetly built right back then.Although short staffed, everthing went great.We received all the things we were to,and were greeted by everyone who worked there.Restaurants although had off season hours,had great service and personality.Being off season we also received a break on our room fees.Would definetly recomend staying here.

My experience stay at the Fireside was excellent. I was only there for a couple days. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. It will definitely be my hotel of choice when I visit Kingston again

I booked a room at the Fireside for my son on his wedding night . They were very pleased with the room , service and hot breakfast ! It was a nice treat for them and they were very pleased with the suite , overall .

everything was wonderful accept the TV reception and stations available, rooms where very clean and very comfortable. food at the restaurants was also very good. the complementary breakfast was wonderful. over all a great stay, just fix the TV !!

Uniquely Kitchy. Not like any other hotel. Vegas like in the lack of windows in the heavily themed bar, entrance, and hallways - feels like time stands still. Deserves a cult following or to be a movie set. Clean, very friendly staff, good size rooms. Did not get to try the cool family themed rooms with the Rocket Ship or the Hot air Balloon because we were 3 people and they only slept 2. If you stay here look for the repeating Cabin prints on the walls in the hallways (trippy - every hallway looks the same and the illusion is that the hallway never ends because you keep passing the same picture). Enjoy the attention to detail inside and how the outside looks like little connected cottages.

Stayed 3 nights in the Northern Lights, average rate per night was $480 Cdn but honestly well worth it. Loved the huge Hot Tub ! The King Sized bed was so comfortable and the Champagne and Chocolate Covered Strawberries were lovely. We barely left the room and it was the perfect mini vacation. 10/10 would recommend to any couple wanting a romantic get away. A slightly larger fridge and a microwave would have topped it off.

With the disappointing stay next door, we found this gem of a restaurant on our last night, while out for a stroll. Out hotel did not have a restaurant so we came over here for dinner. They even said we were welcome to come back for breakfast. The food was wonderful and the service was excellent. Next time we are in the area... we know where to stay.

Always a fabulous stay at this hotel. It is our only choice when we come to visit family in Kingston. We love the space of the rooms, the ease of booking, checking in and checking out. The hotel is extremely clean and very cosy. Breakfast is wonderful and if you're looking for a nice night cap Tom's Place is the right spot!

The moment the door opened and I walked into the space, I felt at home. It has a cozy classy vibe about it. Room was clean with no bad smells. Pool was just right temperature on a heat warning day. Breakfast was yummy, with choices for everyone including fresh fruit. Staff service from beginning to end was efficient, welcoming. Good places for girls weekend, solo refreshing, adults with their parents, we saw some children with family who were no major concerns. Highly recommend. Will be back.

Work truck parked in handicap parking. Front desk didn't care. Grab a menu at the front desk if you want room service - or you will have to go back to get one. Rooms are not marked well and staff are not helpful. We got a theme room which had a great fireplace but the way they had the room set up, you couldn't enjoy it. Room was mostly clean. A lady had to clean the outdoor pool before her kids went in it. Breakfast is not served in the fantasy rooms - they said it was due to COVID that they did that, but there's another review on here from 2014. They've basically just gotten lazy and pinch pennies now. Staff didn't seem to care about customers. Would not suggest staying here.

We are best western diamond select members...on arriving front desk clerk told me there were no available rooms to upgrade, i asked twice if she was refusing upgrade just to confirm answer...never said a thing about us using our supposed valuable points...found out later that evening from another clerk that i was lied to...there were a number of empty suites...next day owner talked to me, said no upgrade available because i used my Points...he wouldn't get paid for room...no idea if this is true or not... Rooms themselves fine, fireside is electric fireplace...hallways very musty smelling, tv fairly ancient, no high def flat screen...used tom's place restaurant...good food...animal skins/heads atmosphere probably not for some folk...hot breakfast fine...just don't expect to be recognized as diamond select members...we often arrive at hotels that have already given us room upgrade...no need to ask...

The hotel is quite unique since it has animal heads in the hall. The theme is old fashioned making it a cozy place to stay for families. Would have been nice to have an elevator to get to the second floor since carrying luggage up can be challenging. Location is good

Met midway with family members to celebrate Christmas and exchange gifts. Kingston is a central location for us meet and the BW Fireside Inn is the perfect place. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Evening dinner in Tom's Place affords us the opportunity to catch up and enjoy a delicious meal. Breakfast selection has a wide selection of offerings. We stay here for each reunion.

Discount offers on website were not applied for a bone night stay. Very pricy for onevroom. Breakfast buffet was nice and clean. Front desk not so nice or helpful at all. would probably have chosen a better place however I was looking for a quick stopover.

Fireside Inn is my preferred stay while visiting Kingston. Very clean and comfortable rooms and friendly staff. Two restaurants within hotel with good food and hospitality. You will not regret this stay!

This suite is such a comfortable and relaxing room. Has a great hot tub with beautiful lights both in the hot-tub and above it. Comes with a nice bottle if sparkling wine & chocolate covered cherries - very romantic and will most likely make your girl cry. Definitely worth it. Make sure to book a reservation with Bistro Stefan as they have an amazing chef as the food was amazing.

We have been staying at this Hotel for the past 8 years. Sometimes we stay 4 times a year. They never disappoint. Courteous staff, breakfast is just what we need to start the day, Toms Place is so much fun and the food is delicious. We love that we never have to leave the hotel. We have stayed in many different rooms, we have had regular rooms, theme rooms, jaccuzi suites. We just love staying here. Close to downtown. Uber is easy to get or you can drive and park in parking lots in the downtown area.

If you're looking for something different with alot of character, life and good restaurants, select this hotel. You will not be disappointed. It looks great, very clean and well maintained. The gym is a little dated. Restaurant on-site was full of life. All of Kingston is easily accessible from the hotel.

We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and cozy. Everything was super clean! All of the staff we encountered were friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was super. Lots of variety and something for everyone.

We both really enjoyed the stay. Check in / Check out were both really easy and straightforward. Internet connection was easy. Restaurant was clean and food was good. The breakfast was included and was a nice touch. Coffee in the room and an ample supply at breakfast as well.

We (couple) spent one night in a king fireplace room. It was clean and everything was in good working order. The room did not have modern decor but there was a nice sitting area with good furniture, a lovely fireplace on a chilly evening, and a comfortable king size bed. What more could one ask for? Breakfast was the usual hotel buffet; nothing special but no complaints. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Good hotel, friendly staff and professional. Free hot and cold breakfast. We go to Kingston every 3 months and this is where we stay every time. Fireplace in the room is a bonus. Clean, comfortable beds.

We went for a one night mini getaway for a change of scenery and to give me a break from caregiving to my husband. Although we made sure to get a room close to the front desk amenities and were assigned an accessible room with a low entry tub. I was imagining the kind with a door. Unfortunately the low entry tub is just a cut out. Furthermore, it did not have any grab bar to stand safely while showering. At the same time, I could not have a relaxing soak in the tub. On a positive note, they offered us a commode which was appreciated as the toilet was not raised, and had no grab bars. The staff was as helpful as they could be. The Bistro is closed Monday nights which was a disappointment and the following morning, it was a buffet style breakfast which has changed since my last visit many years ago.. I ended up back in caregiver mode serving our meal and tending to my husbands needs. At least the change of scenery and the fall colours made for a nice drive out.

We stayed at the Best Western the weekend of Oct. 22nd when we went to Pumpkin Inferno and the Trolly Tour. Usually stay at B&B but for the price, comfort, hospitality and breakfast buffet can't be beat.

This is querky type of hotel which is oldie worldie / dated. We chose this hotel as it seemed different and had some character, which it does, but it just seems over the top. It even has some themed rooms. Nevertheless the rooms are comfortable, but probably needing an upgrade. The dinner was in the bar, which is on itself an experience, with a Moose head on the wall!! All staff were very pleasant

We chose this hotel based on reviews and the fact it was much more reasonably priced than downtown hotels. Our 2-night stay included hot buffet breakfasts. Our room was very clean, quiet, and great for sleeping and relaxing. All staff were helpful and friendly.

I very much enjoyed my stay at this inn. The staff was friendly, the rooms, cozy and extremely clean, the floors in the bathroom shone so much , I checked to see if they were wet :).I stayed at a different inn the next day of trip to save a bit of money, but regretted it as it was not nearly as nice., and I only saved 10 dollars on each room. It is always Best Western for me from now on.

Room was fun. There was some flaws in the room such as lights not working, TV not working, and penis pills left behind from another guest… but we made the most out of our stay. Enjoyed walking around Kingston and the water (about a 8 minute drive away), and enjoyed the hot tub.

We always stay here when in Kingston. Staff are always helpful, the rooms clean and comfortable and situated conveniently for most of the local attractions. with two restaurants on site there is no need to move far after a busy day. Parking is plentiful and the breakfast area spacious enough. Breakfast is the usual fare and plentiful. For a busy area you hear no traffic noise and the rooms are generally very quiet. Certainly worth a visit.

The rooms are clean and comfy. I always go during the summer but each room comes with a fireplace, so I would love to try it during the winter months too. The staff is amazing! There are two restaurants on site, one a bit fancier than the other.

We stayed for 2 nights for a family wedding. The locarion was easy to find and very convenient to where we were going. The staff was great. The rooms were very nice and were clean. We ate in the pub and were quite happy with the food and selections. We didn't use the pool but did sit out and the patio was nice. Breakfast was quite good for a bufet. The only thing better would have been a menu ordered breakfast. All in all a great hotel.

We stayed here to break up the journey on our road trip. Rooms are very clean and staff were pleasant. Pool area looked nice but we didn't really have time to use it. Ate at Tom's bar within the hotel, which was good. There were also other eateries around not that far away. A grocery store within walking distance.

Lovely, homey spacious rooms with fireplace and free parking. Excellent service. No elevator to 2nd floor. Easy location to get to downtown. Not far from restaurants. It is very close to the train station.

We had another hotel booked but had a terrible experience so we had to find lodging quickly. We live 4.5 hrs and the gentleman at the Best Western was so helpful and kind. Within 10 min we were booked and had somewhere to stay the night. The hotel and staff were amazing and the breakfast was amazing. I would highly recommend this to all my family and friend. We are already planning another trip

pool and poolside is great. room was clean but nothing speical- very dated. some staff are excellent some are incredibly rude. - when you get the good ones...they are amazing ! breakfast was good. lots of options.

We stayed at the Fireside while attending a family wedding in Kingston. The facility was great- while it isnt a new building the rooms were cozy, very clean and offered everything we needed as a spot to get ready for the wedding and to spend the night after. The blackout curtains were fantastic as we didn't wake until almost 9am the next day with no idea what time it really was!

The rooms are pretty small with the bathroom in our room really a one person at a time. There is no lift so if you are on the second floor with heavy suitcases be prepared to carry them up the stairs. The breakfast, that was included was pretty basic and bacon ran out both days we were there. Staff generally very helpful and pleasant. To be honest pay a few pounds more and stay at the hotels on the water front.

Actually don't want to say how good it is because of the risk more people stay here. Have been 3 times, always great.. Tom's place and Bistro Stefan..are great additions to this hotel. The pool is also great.

Room was comfortable and clean. The hot breakfast was pretty decent by hotel chain standards... there were a number of options (eg, ham, sausages, eggs, muffins, cereal, nice fruit, juice, coffee/tea, etc.). Better than at other hotels like this that we've stayed in. We were told they didn't have almond milk or soy milk, but found out later that they did... so ask at front desk if you need that.

BW Fireside Inn provides a very comfortable stay in Kingston. Our visit was for a medical appt with HDH and having a comfortable place to stay made the trip go smoothly for us. The king bed was comfortable, cable tv, fridge, clean bathroom, internet were all utilized. The hot buffet breakfast offered a good variety. We recommend!

The best part is the outdoor pool, you can order food and drinks right from the pool! We had a king suite with a fireplace and it was very spacious and comfortable. We loved everything about this hotel. The pub was great (have the nachos!). My husband would have liked it if the breakfast options changed per day, but I really liked the selection. The hotel was a $15 Uber ride to the downtown, a perfect location! I look forward to coming back here again and again, I'll definitely book a whirlpool suite next

my first visit to Kingston , the hotel looked nice on the website but was a bit of a disappointment in real , the room was clean , The breakfast was okay but not much choice , each day the same , no cream cheese .waffles were made in advance and put in a container so they became very soggy

Hotel is well situated IBX downtown Kingston. Pool & area are lovely. Rooms are clean & staff are very helpful. I have stayed here many times. Each year I come to visit family & have stayed here at least 6 times & will do so in the future.

Front desk personnel were very helpful Breakfast was included and had everything you needed to get your day started. Grocery store right next door is very convenient in case you have forgotten something. This was my second time staying here and I will return next time I am in Kingston.

My wife and I did a one overnight stop at this WONDERFUL hotel as we always have in the past. When we do a multi-day visit in Ontario with family, friends, and relatives, we always make our first on-the-way stop at this GREAT Best Western Fireside Inn. Our dinner at Tom's Place Restaurant was EXCELLENT and breakfast at Bistro Stefan was EXCELLENT. We will continue to make this GREAT hotel stop in the future. ask about pool operation and distance to venues. Staff was accommodating and friendly. very quiet and secluded. l would suggest this hotel if the pool was operational. Kingston is a very nice place to visit.

I was surprised to find myself at a place where I stayed more than 10 years ago. I was very pleased. I had fond memories of my first stay. Like the first time, I was very pleased with my stay. I will certainly stay there again on my way to Montreal.

We stopped by Kingston after driving back from Montreal last Saturday. I have tried booking any hotels but there was no available rooms. On our way to the last room available through Hotels.com, we saw Best Western and we were lucky that they have an available room for 4. So I cancelled the previous hotel I booked last minute(no charge), and checked in. My husband was pleased with the room size,layout and ambiance. We had dinner at Tom's Place. We had a free breakfast that came with the room rate. It was very hearty breakfast, eggs, ham, sausages, yoghurt, cereals, coffee and juice. A very pleasant accommodation at half the price of more high end hotels. I like Marriott, Hilton, et al. But Best Western served our needs when we needed it most.

As soon as we walked in, I was transported back to the "good old days" when staying in a hotel was an exciting adventure. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The room was very clean, welcoming, and well equipped. The bathroom was one of the cleanest hotel bathrooms I've seen. We had dinner at the on-site restaurant, Tom's Place, where the food was well priced and yummy, the service was quick and friendly. Our complimentary breakfast in the morning was hot, fresh, and plentiful. The coffee was perfect. I highly recommend a stay at this hotel while in Kingston!

We definitely enjoyed our Theme roomed night. The amenities were clean and roomy. Location of hotel was close to main areas of town.easy to check in and out. The breakfast was well stocked and not to busy.

Terrible rooms dated and dark our bathroom was slanted and door would not shut. Front desk staff ( younger women ) not helpful unaware of services. Free breakfast buffet style burnt scrambled eggs and sausages stale bread and muffins staff no masking they think it's funny that I wear one, Beds uncomfortable no room clean up had to go get fresh towels 3 day stay. The have a shuttle van be I asked and it's not for guest use so don't ask she wasn't sure why they had it and after I asked it was moved behind the property so no one could see it. If you are looking for an overpriced old hotel with rigged electric fireplaces this is the place for you. If you like showers with little water pressure and a 20 year old bathub this is the place, Please avoid at all costs there are many others to choose from with pleasant staff and bright and clean rooms.

This is one of my favourite hotels in Kingston. It is warm, and welcoming. Great breakfast buffet is included. Room was spotlessly clean. One restaurant was closed when we were there, but Tom's Place was open....lovely lounge with a good menu and great food.

We enjoyed an evening at the Best Western Fireside Inn. The staff was wonderful, the food at Tom's Place was delicious, and the room was comfortable. The only constructive criticism would be to updated some of the room decor. It definitely has a "1980s cabin" or "Anne of Green Gables" feel, which some people may enjoy. Our loveseat in the room was pretty uncomfortable and the desk chair definitely needed to be replaced.

This is our go to place when visiting Kingston. Easy to get to, rooms are clean and quiet, staff is friendly, breakfast is always warm and fresh. The onsite restaurants have good food at reasonable prices.

This place felt like a cabin. I loved the rustic décor, restaurant is a hunters paradise, and the staff were fantastic. When I travel through this area again I will be sure to stay there. Give this place a chance, and you won't be disappointed!

I really enjoyed this hotel. It was a lovely experience, a very clean room, and we were able to stay overnight with our dog! Also, the room felt almost like a cottage- it was super cute and cottage-like, and the breakfast was lovely!

I rented a "fire side suite". The fire place had to be used on a timer which was loud and bothersome. There was no heat from the fire place. The TV was garbage, with no option to rent a movie. The breakfast was not good either.

It is in need of a fresh look, the fire place is electric and on a timer. The room is small and the bed is uncomfortable and not great to watch television while laying down. The washroom and tub unit are small. The decor needs a fresh look.

This was a beautiful anniversary gift for my husband we stayed in the space theme room and it was perfect nerdy but amazing we both loved it And found toms place great for cocktails and the next morning the included breakfast was amazing !!!

My wife and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary here in one of the Whirlpool suites. It was such a lovely Valentine weekend that we will be returning annually to celebrate our anniversary. The staff is courteous, friendly, informative and helpful. We were treated like royalty and will return every year.

the room was very clean but needed a total renovation. The window was broken and needed to be held open by a hanger. The entire hotel needs a major renovation. The exterior looks dirty and also dated.

This is a very welcoming hotel with excellent staff (especially Cathy) and they do everything to make your stay the best. Everything you need is there with Tom's Place for dinner and the Breakfast Room with hot buffet. Even with Covid shutdowns, their precautions are adhered to extremely well. Room service for dinner was excellent and there was a good choice in the breakfast package which was a Grab and Go and a choice of hot or cold. Have frequented in October, December and January with hospital appointments.

Had to throw out previous guests garbage under bed. Bed and boxspring do NOT fit frame... you will be sleeping on a boxspring on the floor. One bar of soap. in a king suite. HORRID. Not only did we have to go collect our own "room service" from a lower level and carry it back to our room without proper coverage, where it became COLD COLD COLD by the time we got back to our room... Our French fries weren't fully cooked, all the food was undercooked and cold. The vegetarian burger turned out to be the tiniest frozen patty I've ever seen and still cold in the middle. The nachos had NO cover at all, sliding as an entire piece, melted cheese was cold when we picked it up, even though we went down immediately when they called us. THEN WE ORDERED TAKE OUT FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE THAT WAS RELIABLE AND INSTEAD OF THE FRONT DESK CALLING TO LET US KNOW WHEN IT ARRIVED, WE HAD TO INQUIRE ON OUR OWN ABOUT OUR $200+ FOOD ORDER THAT THEY GAVE SOMEONE A KEY TO BRING THROUGH THE HALLS RIGHT TO OUR DOOR. THIS IS NON ACCESSIBLE FROM ANY ROUTE OTHER THAN ONE WITH A KEY. THE DELIVER SERVICE WAS ADVISED WE WERE OUTSIDE WAITING SO WERE THE FRONT DESK SO THERE IS NO NEED TO GO TO OUR ROOM LET ALONE NOT ADVISE US THIS HAS BEEN DONE. . THEY IGNORED IT ALL. ACTED AS THOUGH GUESTS DONT MATTER. The staff seems more concerned about looking in mirrors than doing anything for customers. Save your time and money, go elsewhere. Supposed to be a nice little New Years Eve/New Years Day getaway. But this has been the furthest thing from a getaway or nice. We willl be trying to cancel our second night as the first was beyond disappointing.

If you haven't been to the Fantasy Suites they really are a MUST. The Flights of Fantasy suite is my personal favorite. It was more amazing before COVID when you could package the romantic dinner packages and add things to room but certainly worth booking!

From quick and friendly check in to amazing service from staff, we love returning to Fireside Inn. Whether we stay in one of the Fantasy Suites for special occasions or any of the other rooms, we are always satisfied with our stay!

Hotel was fine but dated. Nice staff. Good air in hallways and rooms. Breakfast was not good through Bistro Stefan. Also it's not free, its touted as that but its included in the price. I don't think its worth $154 a night before tax. Funny that you guys quoted me $139 on the phone for one night and $154 for second night then when i got there you charged $154 for both nights. Another reviewer said this. Maybe this is a common tactic you are using? And yes that quote was before taxes. And no the $154 was not after taxes. It was $154 + tax + MAT tax. Maybe charging people $120 before tax per night and save offering the breakfast would be better. I will say the air quality in the hotel and room was good. So, a little bad, a little good in this review. Regarding the breakfast. Please guys, make sure you have your cooks fully cook the potatoes as they were rock hard, and use real eggs ( not powdered ) as they were dry and tasted awful. And the water was not great from the place where you pour it ( next to the orange) Might have been an off day but still. The yoghurt should be in containers not squirted out from a machine ( it was watery) and the waffles were soggy because you leave them in a container where the heat condenses on top and drips back on to the waffles. A lot to be improved. If you can improve the breakfast I think this place might be worth $139 a night. No more than that though. With tax + MAT tax it ends up being like about $180 taxes in. That is a lot for one night stay in a dated hotel. I might stay there again if they can improve breakfast and drop their prices to around $130 a night before tax otherwise I might look elsewhere for something more modern with a better breakfast. Can't complain about the beds though they were comfy. They will ask for vaccination passport. Not sure if they do this for breakfast or the hotel. We had ours but from what i recall for those who don't have a passport, hotels aren't meant to ask for it. Only restaurants and entertainment places.

The place is very nice. The staff is also very nice from check in to restaurant staff to the cleaning lady. Very good breakfast. Room is clean and so is the overall hotel. It's also very quiet, enjoyed quiet nights and very quiet breakfast.

Best Western Fireside Inn is a great little hotel to stay in. I always love staying here when I come to Kingston for business. The staff are very friendly, the lounge/restaurant has wonderful food and staff as well. Breakfast buffet is always top notch. It does have dated décor, but I feel that this goes with the entire vibe of the hotel so it does not bother me, but may bother some. FYI the thermostat is on the unit itself and has a little flip up piece that is almost completely blended in when closed! I had to ask the front desk how to adjust my thermostat because I couldn't even see that there was a section to adjust on the unit itself - so now anyone reading this is aware :).

We spent a very pleasant night at the Best Western Fireside Inn in Kingston. Although the rooms are a bit dated, they are super clean and the bathrooms seem to have been relatively recently upgraded. The fireplace in the room was nice. Part of what made the experience so nice for us was having dinner at Tom's Place (in the hotel). The ambience was cozy and the staff extremely friendly. The free breakfast (buffet) was served in the other on-site restaurant - "Bistro Stefan" - a nicely appointed dining room, again with friendly staff. All covid protocols were in place. We would definitely stay and eat here again!

Though not a new hotel and some things could be upgraded, this hotel is in a good location within easy drive of almost everything. We had no problems at all during our 2 night stay and would definitely stay here again.

Older hotel but that adds to the charm. Room was quiet and clean. Comfortable beds and a spotless washroom. We especially enjoyed the restaurants on site. Fireplace room was fantastic, might try one of the theme rooms next time.

We visited Kingston to take in the Penitentiary Tour and as Best Western Rewards Members we always try to select a Best Westen when traveling. We certainly weren't disappointed with our selection the Fireside Inn!

Best Western is consistently good quality with clean and comfortable rooms. Great pub & restaurant on premises at the Fireside. Food was fantastic and service was quick and friendly. Safe, quiet location but easy to commute to anywhere you need to be.

We planned to arrive in Kingston later in the afternoon heading west and had no desire to travel through the Toronto traffic during rush hour so booked the BW Fireside Inn. This allowed us to go through Toronto the next day at noon and while it's crazy traffic it was much better than what you would find later in the day.

This hotel is a good choice for a Kingston stay. A very retro place, decor from years ago!!...sort of a deliberate choice of the owners, makes the stay fun and interesting. there is a simple breakfast but in Sept the restaurant was closed; a classic retro bar also. despite the retro look, rooms, bathrooms, bedding etc, are fine, very clean and neat. An interesting place, we would return.

Okay room for the night. We were just passing through on our way to Quebec so we really just needed a place to sleep for the night and this hotel did just that. My requirements are clean and no bugs and this hotel checked the boxes. It's by no means anything special, but the staff are friendly, it's clean, and comfortable for the night at a good price. The rooms are large but very outdated, nice it had a mini fridge to store our food for the night. There is no elevator so keep that in mind, but that wasn't a huge deal. The restaurant had decent food, breakfast in the morning was your standard chain breakfast. If in the area and you need a place to say for the night, this is it, would do so again if passing through, though may consider one of the newer hotels if staying for a few days (but that's just my personal preference).

We stayed here one night, very quiet and private. The rooms and decor are a bit dated, lots of wood and other dated accents. However, the place is very clean. COVID protocols were in place, lots of signs and hand sanitizer. They take this seriously which is good to know. The rooms were clean and well appointed, wifi was good. The included breakfast was a coupon for buffet at the restaurant. The food quality was much better than what you usually get with a free breakfast. I'd come back for the breakfast alone it was so good. This was a nice pleasurable stay, with so many places to choose from it can be hard to decide. When I'm back in town, I would stay here again.

Originally when we booked this hotel we were not too sure on what to expect. The hotel itself is very unique in the respect that it gives off a cottage or chalet feel. We were pleasantly surprised once we arrived. All the he staff we encountered were all very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and very clean. Location was good as it was still close to downtown and there were many amenities within a couple minutes of the hotel. My only real complaint was bed in the room. It was way too soft for our liking. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

Our trip to Kingston over the weekend was to visit family and friends. Fireside Inn has a great central location on Princess St with free parking. Room was clean yet somewhat dated decor. Staff were friendly and helpful. King bed was very comfortable, but our sleep was disrupted numerous times with noises and speech in the hallway. The bathroom was clean but I'm not a fan of the low toilet. My husband was unable to connect to the internet with his phone, so he had to use his own data plan. Breakfast was included and Sunday morning was buffet with good selection of nutritious foods. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends.

I booked a whirlpool suite as a surprise for my boyfriend and I as our final day of completing the 340km Rideau Hiking Trail. We throughly enjoyed the big tub and massaging jets and loved the comfortable king bed. Sparkling wine and choco-covered strawberries was a surprise after our check is as I did not know it was included in the room. Another treat was a buffet breakfast during COVID. A safety measures in place and a hot and forest meal was a nice change to the brevity's box breakfast we have had earlier in the year at other hotels. The room is worth the extra money for a stay of comfort and luxury.

My husband and I were looking for a quick 2-day getaway from the kids and I wanted a room with a whirlpool. After some searching, we found the Fireside Inn. I was intrigued as the photos online don't look like your typical Best Western. I booked a whirlpool room for 2 nights and we were highly satisfied. The room was quite large, had a beautiful fireplace, and the whirlpool was huge! Definitely the biggest one I've ever seen in a private hotel room. And very comfortable as well. The bed was so comfortable, we didn't want to get up each morning. It was like staying in someone's home. The decor is interesting. I think it hasn't been updated in awhile, but it adds rustic charm (which I believe is the point). We ordered room service from Tom's Place both nights and the food was delivered quickly and was enjoyable. The breakfast included with the room was decent. It's about as good as you can get for a small breakfast buffet. No complaints. As for service - everyone from the front desk to the staff at the restaurants are not only friendly, but aiming to be as helpful as possible. This definitely adds to the experience. I recommended to my husband that this be "our" hotel going forward for short escapes away. It's a 4.5 hour drive for us, but worth it. And Kingston has so much to see and do, you'll never be bored. Can't wait to return!

Room decor needed updates drastically. While everything worked as it shoukd and the room was clean , at $269 luxury suite I would have expected a more modern decor. Buffet breakfast was cold upon arrival at 8:30 am and not replenished while we were there( approx 40 minutes). ALL staff were extremely professional and followed all Covid safety measures.

We stayed in the space room and what an incredible experience. This from is crazy looking I'm pretty sure there is NOTHING like it in Canada. The staff is great and the restaurant is a very relaxing atmosphere with great food. I highly recommend this hotel.

We stay primarily at BW hospitality locations. Simply because since the first time we did, the staff, and surroundings are top notch. Best Western have a number of locations in Niagara Falls, and an executive suites location in St. Foy QC., as well as the Fireside Kingston. We have thorughly enjoyed staying at each, and they alkl have their own unique character. Great experiences, always, and friendly, clean, well equipped hotel destinations.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights with family/friends. Driving up to hotel we were a bit hesitant. To our surprise we all really liked the hotel. Very cozy rooms, good size. The restaurant had good food and pool area was also nice! Just wished there was an elevator and better a/c in hallways/stairwells.

We stayed in the Lord and Lady room because staying in a themed hotel room has been on my bucket list. It was fantastic!!!!! Sleeping in the rolls-royce was surprisingly very very comfortable. I can't wait to go back!

Very clean rooms / hotel. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. I would 100% stay at this hotel again. We arrived very late on a Thursday night and were able to sleep in the next morning. They hotel is nice and quiet and accommodating.

I would recommend this hotel. The pool area was great for relaxing or swimming. The wait staff at the bar were very attentive. The hotel was tastefully decorated, the beds comfortable and our room was very clean and that is one of the things I look for.

Lovely hotel just off the highway..... well maintained, pleasant staff and restaurant/bar area decor very relaxing..... the only downfall was during breakfast buffet there were some people walking, laughing, talking over the food without masks on.... was not told by staff that masks should only be removed when sitting and eating...... did mention it but nothing done..... too many variances of Covid to not be too careful.....

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Comfortable and spacious room, with all the amenities and speedy internet. Helpful staff all round. Nice size swimming pool and you don't have to reserve the time you go in. Appetising breakfast, diverse food, but no cheese. Good food at the restaurant, well priced. Wine is good, selection of beers could be better.

Yes, there really is a working electric fireplace in your room. Faux brick wall, mantle, hearth, Americana art and all. It seems apropos for a Swiss chalet theme, but not appreciated enough on a hot summer's day. The theme is seamless inside and out, with lovely landscaping and a cozy atmosphere in the decorating touches. The room felt a little small. There is no way someone can walk between the bed and the chair when someone is sitting at the desk. There is a lot of pine from the four-poster bed to the trim. Very country Swiss! There was also no vanity space in the bathroom with a pedestal sink and no counter. We would have loved to spend more time here and enjoy the pool. Breakfast was unbelievably wonderful! It felt like a touch of normalcy with lots of hot item choices - scrambled eggs, several meats, baked beans, waffles. Plus cold items with freshly cut fruit as the highlight. The breakfast area was divided up so that social distancing could happen, and tables and booths were well spaced. Staff were readily available to clean, stock and direct traffic. We arrived late evening, so staff at check-in may have been tired. Efficiency is appreciated, but a little warmth would feel more welcoming.

They are trying for a Swiss fantasy village vibe. Instead, the rooms look like a 90s rec room. Our room had been recently recarpeted, but it still looked like it was right out of the 90s, I don't know how they managed to find such dated looking carpeting!!! The bathroom was newly renovated and fresh looking. Overall, decently clean. No TV remote in the room, internet was fine. We were Shocked that there was a buffet as the only breakfast option. When we booked, (a week earlier) it was breakfast to go, which is also what the sign in the lobby said at check-in. Instead, we had to join the other people serving ourselves from the buffet. No distancing. We chose to go back to our room rather than eat at a booth in the restaurant. Food was as expected, scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, waffles, yogurt. Slightly cold, pretty bland. Typical hotel breakfast. We must have had the same receptionist at checkin as others have mentioned. She certainly did not seem happy to have us there or willing to offer any information. We stayed on points, but would have been more upset if we paid cash. Overall, I'll try somewhere else next time I stay in Kingston.

We stayed in the Space room with our 2 out of 3 kids and could not be happier! The kids loved sleeping in the spaceship, and we didn't mind sleeping in recliners. Why they don't market to families for these fantasy suites is beyond me...missing the market on them for sure!!! The pool need to be refinished, but doesn't stop anyone from enjoying a dip and who would mind with bar/ restaurant service poolside? All in all, a great location, friendly staff, food was excellent, service was excellent and the breakfast was great! I will come again!

Booked two KIng rooms which came with fireplaces, Rooms are nice, clean and somewhat upgraded, Beds were comfortable but pillows could be updated, It has an outdoor pool and it looked pretty clean. The bar closes at 9pm on the weekend which i didn't quite figure out but there is a mini fridge in your room so you can store drinks in there, Staff were very nice and the breakfast bag hit the spot. We'll be back.

Or room was very clean and comfortable; the inclusive breakfast was good and the staff were all very helpful. The pool was lovely. The only downside was that Bistro Stefan was closed (one of our favorites) . We'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

We stayed for 2 nights, but checked out early. We were going to stay 3 nights, but had a bad experience. Got bit on upper left thigh, buttocks and neck while sleeping. I reported to Manager, but she didn't care or try to rectify. My husband took pics for proof.

The woman who runs the desk in the morning was bar none the crabbiest person I have ever met in a service industry position. Everything was an imposition and she would not bend in the slightest. The pet policy is ridiculous and not explained at booking. They expect you to be with your pet at ALL times. This was modifying by a more helpful staff. During Covid the free breakfast was carboard copy of McDonald's breakfast - stale tasteless and cold. Bring your own pillows, the ones in the room are blocks off cut up foam in a case and actively interfere with sleep

We loved our stay at tranquility base. The room itself was very unique, the bed was VERY comfortable, and it was very quiet and intimate. The service of the hotel itself was just ok, we left our dishes in the hallway to be picked up and they remained there until we checked out. The breakfast was also incredible disappointing considering we paid a lot to stay in a suit. I understand during covid, you have to make it work but I thought it was very cheap and the quality was not good. Vouchers for the the restaurant or a nearby brunch spot would have been better. The gentleman at the front desk was extremely caring and accommodating and made the beginning and end of our trip very memorable.

I arrive on check was forced to sign an additional rules for our dog. The woman at front desk did not care about me or my pet, This dog is very well behaved for her age and helps us sleep do to are anxiety. Plus they charge and extra 30 dollars for pet. This was not my first time here but mostly our last.

Stayed here to have a quiet getaway. The rooms are beautiful with charming rustic touches. There is a fireplace in every room. The fantasy suites are all amazing!! I stayed in the Northern Lights suite and loved every second of my stay. The hot tub was deeper then I expected and was exactly what I needed. The fantasy suites come with a bottle of sparkling wine and chocolate dipped strawberries. Ordered room service from Tom's, one of the on-site restaurants, and was not disappointed!! I can't wait to come visit again!!

We stayed in the Fantasy Suite - Lord and Lady. What a quirky, cool and comfortable room and experience it was. Would recommend if you are looking for something a little different. Close to restaurants and stores. Was quiet and relaxing. Can't wait to go stay there again. Looking forward to trying the other fantasy suites as well.

The room was neat, but the novelty wore off within about an hour. Would be fun for a kids birthday party though. TV was awful, only cable with terrible channel selection. The room was clean. Bed was way too soft, not very comfortable.

We stayed in the space room for my partners birthday and it was amazing!! So worth the money and a great experience. The room was kept very clean and the decor was awesome. Even got a free Mars bar with the room!

Beautiful room, had a free bottle of wine that was delicious, whirl pool tub was fantastic, bed was comfortable absolutely loved the room and the decor definitely would book this room again anytime!!!

My boyfriend and I stayed here recently. We did one night in the Tranquility Base Fantasy Suite. Front desk was kind and had our room ready upon arrival with champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. The room is AMAZING. It was so cool! We are going to try all of the fantasy suites. Such a nice mini getaway. We will be back!!

We stayed here for 5 nights in these difficult covid times. The take out/room service for supper was very good. The bag-breakfast was ready for us in the morning, a hot sandwich or croissant, fruit, juice water, yogurt, food bar, was very good. But the best thing about this hotel is the staff. They went out of their way to make us comfortable. . My only suggestion is to take a firestick if you want entertainment The cable service was great if you were into sports, news or children's programs. I highly recommend this hotel.

We went for a 60th surprise birthday and we were well taken care of. This hotel never disappoints. They always go above and beyond what my expectations are. Have been going to this facility for the past 8 years and cant wait to go back again. The rooms are quaint and rustic not like normal rooms. Every room have a fireplace. The jacuzzi rooms are amazing and if you want a real treat get a fantasy suite. Like I say I cant say enough about this place. In the summer there is a pool as well

The rooms are fantastic. The fireplace is always a treat. I've stayed a few times here in the last few months. This was the first time here with my wife. She absolutely loved the room's atmosphere and decor.

Booked for 116$ on BW reservation line. Managed to check in early a bit past noon. Was provided a room on second floor. It was cozy, very nice with wooden frames, fireplace (with fake flames on a timer), fridge, lcd TV, confortable desk chair, double bed, good WiFi. Bathroom was a bit small, but surprised by the double shower head. Gym was closed due to covid. The on-site restaurant was open for lunch and dinner. Breakfast was a bit disappointing, only a croissant with jam, a juice and a fruit. Nothing else. Plenty of parking.

I always love staying at the Fireside Inn. The beds are SO comfortable, rooms are always VERY clean (especially nice during the pandemic) and having a restaurant on site is very helpful. The fireplaces are just the icing on the cake and make for a relaxing atmosphere in the room.

The Flights of Fantasy Room was like being pampered and on vacation without being on vacation. The dry sauna and hot tub was a wonderful experience. I wish I had a bathroom like this one at home. Keep up the good work on maintaining the relaxing experience.

Excellent staff (front desk clerk, wait staff at both restaurants, cleaning staff - all made our stay delightful. Extremely clean room Restaurant food 5/5 Breakfast 1/5 - could do much better, even for a go bag - it was really awful Fantasy room - excellent total environment TV - small, basic cable - pretty pitiful (no movie purchase options, no streaming capabilities Wifi - free but slow Parking - free and close to rooms Would we go back - definitely, but will speak to manager for a discount since we cannot eat the pure sugary go bag breakfast which is supposed to be included with the room. Seeing as they serve people lunch and dinner, they should be able to serve their clients a hot breakfast containing more the just sugar..

I wanted to meet up with a friend from highschool so we treated ourselves to a staycation for a night. I loved the fireplace in the standard room and the bathroom products didnt dry out my hair like most hotel shampoos do. The man at checkin was awesome and set the mood for our night bu being friendly and hospitable and even recommended a place to have dinner when i mentioned I was feeling hungry. I am extremely pleased with all of the amenities and how my stay turned out. Thanks!

This Lord and Lady room has beautiful decor. We felt like we were in a castle. The room was huge and had all amenities needed. The bed was so comfy, the whirlpool tub was very big, there is even a DVD player in the room.

The detail of this room is magnificent, it must have cost a pretty penny to construct when it was made. The “spaceship” bed has different light settings that illuminate the edges and the stairwells. There are places where amethyst crystal clusters are illuminated in sections of the wall. The TV area has two fully reclining chairs, great for relaxing (but not cuddling.) You will surely be wowed when you enter the room, and perhaps again when you go to sleep with an astronaut hovering outside the bedship. There are some things that you might also find a tad underwhelming. Although there are 4 TV's in the room, they were are quite dated and the picture wasn't very clear (maybe even just replacing main TV would have been a good idea.) There are areas that the wallpaper is peeling, some lights on stairs aren't working, and coffee table is in bad shape. Upon entering you are presented with chocolate strawberries and a decent blush wine. The strawberries weren't fresh though to the point where they looked shrivelled and we debated just tossing them... I get that Covid is hurting businesses, but it's sometimes the little things that go a long way. Room cost was $350 plus tax per night. Came with a bagged lunch that I wasn't keen on because it had unhealthy mains such as Otis spunkmeyer danishes, and high sugar granola bars. Would have preferred a healthier option. Does come with an apple or an orange though. Again, Covid misfortune, but I just feel the choices of the bagged lunch fell flat for me. Yes I'm picking a bit, but still rated the experience 4 stars because the room really is “out of this world!” Staff seemed nice and hotel felt cozy. I would most likely return to another themed room in the future.

We visit Kingston about once a year because there's so much history to discover in this part of the Province. We don't bother to check out other hotels anymore because we really enjoy this B-W. Friendly, clean, comfortable and cozy. A huge added plus are the two excellent restaurants accessed from the lobby.

Really like this hotel, from the warmth of the rooms to staff that I recognize from previous visits. I really like the fireplace, and 4 poster bed. Would love to try one of their fantasy suites sometime.

Dated and a bit dark, but comfortable hotel close to downtown Kingston. It was peaceful and served our needs. There was free parking close to our rooms. The hotel staff were pleasant and allowe us to check in early, which was a bonus.

Ive stayed here many times. Friendly service, cozy rooms, and good value for the room. I'll travel the extra 60 minutes to stay here, instead of brockville or belleville. Good food at restaurant. Even with the covid19 pandemic, its a place i look forward to stsying at.

My husband and I stayed at the Best Western Fireside Inn in August. Yes, the decor might be considered "rustic" to some, but we found it to be cozy and very clean. We had a suite with a separate bedroom, a hot tub and a living room with a firelace. To our surprise, we found a bottle of wine and chocolate covered strawberries in our room, upon arrival. We did not expect that at all. You could not ask for a more comfortable bed.. and my husband is very fussy. We had dinner in the restaurant on the main floor, and I had the best nachos I've ever eaten. The staff was most hospitable and friendly. The location was great for us too. They are situated beside a grocery store, so when we wanted snacks and drinks, we simply walked over to the store. We did not swim, but the pool looked clean and inviting. The only drawback was due to Covid, they did not offer the free buffet breakfast. Instead, you get a grab bag with an apple, orange juice, a danish and a granola bar. I really missed the free breakfast, but what can you do. Overall, we had a great night and a great nights sleep. I would definitely recommend the BWFI in Kingston and I can't wait to go back.

The check in clerk, Stefan was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. In the morning the check out clerk, Haylie was equally great. We further met 2 other staff members in the parking lot and they were great to talk to as well, great staff makes a stay so enjoyable. The rooms were uniquely decorated as if its a cottage, gas fire place brown crown molding, old books on a shelf. The beds were very comfortable lots of pillows, clean,. Only negative was the fridge in the room was so small could only get a couple of drinks in. Overall a great stay.

Very clean, quaint hotel! Decorated in a Bavarian theme with wood furnishings and outdoor flowers everywhere. Staff members responsible for keeping the property clean took great pride in their work. (I watched a staff member pick up used cigarette butts outside of one of the entrances) The rooms are well designed with some creative pieces of furniture and storage. Breakfast does come in a bag, but with the restrictions in place, it was fine. There is a Food Basics right next door if you feel you need to enhance what is in it. We asked about a bike route at the front desk, we received excellent directions to Lake Ontario Park and biked along the lake shore all afternoon. We didn't eat at the outdoor patio, but it was always quite full when it was open...must have been good! The pool area was clean and had some tables and chairs. We loved our weekend in Kingston and are coming back in the fall again. Definitely staying here!

This hotel is on COVID restrictions and housekeeping does not clean the rooms. Clean towels are available at the front desk and a breakfast packed bag comes too. The pool and location are the major draw for this facility. I would like to say that the night clerk was the absolute best here. Hailey made the stay much more enjoyable with her attentiveness and friendly attitude. I hope the manager recognizes this as she makes up for the property drawbacks. I would definitely stay again but I would ask for a mattress with more support. Thank you Hailey!

After being confined for so long, we had to get away, We stayed before at the Fireside Inn and I must say it is still a real treat to come and enjoy their exceptionally good food. The rooms are super clean and nicely decorated, The beds are very comfortable. Most of all the staff is friendly. We highly recommend this hotel for a memorable getaway.

This hotel is 1970. The room AC worked extremely well. And the staff where all nice and trying their best. As for the stay, bed was uncomfortable and beyond old. Pillows was 1-2” think with no give; felt like feet above head laying down. The books in room 30-40 years old. Opened room door, smelled like opening a cottage that had been sitting for a year. Would not recommend this hotel if you are looking for anything under 20-40 years old. The bed was pine, and all room decor was also pine; old pine.

The room was extremely clean and fresh, wifi access was simple and room was comfortable. Selection of tea in room was excellent however the coffee was horrible. Grab and go breakfast was good under the circumstances, more choices would have been better.

We stayed for one night and it was not quite as good as most of the reviews. The location is fine as it is near lots of restaurants, but the room didn't provide a good night's sleep. This was mainly due to the heat and cooling system needing to be alternated to get the right temperature. The AC had been set at too low when we arrived. There was also a night light near the door that was too bright and lit up the room too much. I also found the mattress to be a little hard for my liking. The outdoor pool was nice and warm and the breakfast to go was fine. But due to our sleeping difficulties, I don't think that I would stay here again.

Start of trip to help move one of our children to new city. Clean, quiet room. All services worked well. No surprises -just what i was looking for. Was able to get a good nights sleep, and start the moving experience well rested.

We have stayed in 3 of the Fantasy Suites and the Northern lights room in the past year and loved all of them. Highly recommend them for a great little couples get away. The staff if absolutely amazing. The hotel and pool are very clean. The restaurants are fabulous. The manager Haley is exceptional she really goes above and beyond to make her customers happy. Can't wait for our next stay :)

my wife and I had 1 of the fantasy suites for our anniversary. For the time and situation of covid-19 we were very pleased with our stay. The room was a 2 story space themed room. It was very well setup.

overall this is a very clean hotel with large rooms. It was very quiet offering a good nights sleep. There is also a complimentary breakfast offering fruit, muffins, toast, yogurt etc. Not extensive, but enough to get your day started. The decor is a tad dated but not really a big issue.

Check in was a breeze. We checked out our room first , then went directly to Tom's Place for a drink and some food. The room was small but comfortable. Really small bathroom, nothing for counter space. Comfy bed. Toms Place was really good. The complimentary breakfast is a typical , 'hotel,not very appealing at all' type breakfast. The fantasy suites at this hotel are a great way to take a mini vacation if you're local, or make your travels more interesting if you're from out of town. The staff are exemplary, and with two dining establishments in the building, you don't have to go far for delicious food if you're looking to settle in and relax.

This was our first time staying in Fantasy suites. We plan to stay at least once a year. So romantic and the complimentry champagne and strawberrys where such a nice touch. The hot tub was incredible and the room neat and clean when we entered. Thank you for a great Valentines stay..

This time last year my family found out my mom had cancer and was rushed to KGH. My whole family has worked for the BW Cobourg and the BW Fireside Management and staff went above and beyond to make a difficult time for our family less stressful. So I will always return to the Fireside Inn when I stay in Kingston.

The hotel was very clean, the room was wonderful big comfortable bed, lots of pillows, the fire place was nice and cozy. The suite was a very nice size with a livingroom separate bedroom and nice big bathroom. The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. We love staying at the fireside inn, it's never been a bad experience for us. Nice for a quick stay or nice romantic evening.

The Best Western Fireside in Kingston looks lovely from the outside. The lobby is small, but clean and well organized. The front desk staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Our room was clean and comfortable, but getting tired... Small updates have been done, but it's time to update the larger furniture and over-all decor of the room. My boyfriend enjoyed the free breakfast but unfortunately I was unable to enjoy it as I was too late - I arrived 5 minutes before they closed breakfast and was told I couldn't eat because I was too late. I did eventually get a coffee. For the same price, I will probably stay in a newer hotel in the downtown next time.

This hotel is very reliable. The staff are always very nice and the rooms spotlessly clean and nice. It has a rustic feel with the fireplaces in every room - very peaceful and great to relax. The whirlpool suites are huge - the tub is the largest one I have seen in a hotel room. Breakfast is always good. I stay here several times a year and am never disappointed.

Walking into the room, the bathroom is separated from the rest of the Suzy Wong Suite by the moon door. This set the atmosphere of a very comfortable stay in a very luxurious room which includes a Jacuzzi, a fireplace, and lots of space to just relax and enjoy. Location is not downtown, but quite central to everything with no more than a 15 minute drive. Highly recommend.

Always an excellent place to stay. Very quiet and relaxing. Beautifully appointed. Lots of incredible woodworking. Old time feel. Very clean. Tom's place is a pub with a mountain lodge feel, real wood fireplace, incredibly friendly service. Bistro Stefans has more of an upscale feel, great food, and excellent service. You wouldn't go wrong in either place. This trip we stayed in the Northern Lights suite. Very nice, great to have your own personal hot tub. We have stayed in and toured other rooms, all are very nice and the decor lends to the relaxing feel. You could spend your whole trip here without leaving the property or it's just a very reasonable can ride to the waterfront downtown area. We have already booked a return trip for this summer, but I'm sure we'll be back before then l. I can't say enough about the friendly service, great job by all making us feel welcome and at home.

We stayed in the fantasy rooms. The space one and the balloon one. They are very cool. The balloon room was fancier and better appointed than the space room but my 5 year old boy thought it was amazing. The service was great and toms bar was just lovely. Food was great there. We really enjoyed our stay. The only thing that took away from a 5 star review was breakfast. It was dry and not very nice.

John and his team do exceptional work and it is felt throughout the property as staff is very friendly, courteous and look like they really want to work there. Bed is extremely comfortable, food is great and ambiance very cozy! We'll be back again. Thanks!

As a getaway, it was perfect! The staff was friendly and helpful. We wanted a quiet, restful night. The fireplace and jacuzzi was just what was needed. We will be back for our wedding anniversary in May!

I had a free night. This hotel upgraded us to the whirlpool suite. Beautiful. Some of the wallpaper looked out dated, but you could tell everything else was modern. Our bathroom had some mouthwash wrappers on the floor of the bathroom, but other than that the place was clean. It was a fabulous night, and we plan to bring the kids next time. The place has a cabin in the woods feel.

We were traveling to Canada from the US for the first time in years. We chose this Best Western because it was close to Queen's University which was our destination and were not disappointed. It was 10 minutes from where we needed to be .. close to a lot of stores and necessities. Aside from receiving good value for what we paid, their customer service was top notch. There wasn't a single staff member who wasn't helpful, friendly, or very accommodating to any need. We had a standard room with two beds and the added fireplace was a nice addition to a clean and welcoming environment. The rooms have very nice décor which is noticeable throughout the entire hotel. The bathroom had two adjustable shower heads which was a nice feature you don't often see in hotels. The breakfast that's included in more than your standard complimentary breakfast .. a complete buffet with a variety of choices. We didn't try either restaurant that's part of the hotel but one was full both nights and had a wait to get in so that told it was obviously good. Only down side was the room didn't have a microwave and we had food to heat up both nights we were there. The staff was helpful though as we brought it to the front and they heated it in the kitchen. This was not a deal breaker though, but would be a nice added feature to the rooms. Overall, a really good experience and would recommend this hotel for anyone staying in the area. We would certainly stay again if close by.

We always stay at the Best Western Fireside when we are in Kingston - always stop for a drink and snack in the friendly little bar and eat in the dining room which is excellent. The rooms are very comfortable and we always get a good night's sleep. Pet friendly too, which is important for us!

This was always our "go to place" when visiting Kingston but this time was disappointing. Booked jacuzzi and usually receive a bottle of wine and a breakfast in your room option...ordering of the menu...but were told that because we booked online (through best western website even!) that we didn't qualify for it. Never informed of this before. Very disappointing! Room could have had more attention to cleaning detail too.

My husband and I have stayed at this hotel on several occasions. This time we were particularly impressed with the service and kindness of the man on the desk who organized a room for us in the late evening. We had spent hours in the emergency department of Kingston General Hospital and were exhausted. We were given a lovely room and charged the hospital rate for it. This same man remembered us the following morning and was solicitous and caring.

I normally don't like chain hotels, I was nervous when a family member wanted to book here but I was very pleasantly surprised. From the warm greetings at reception - who are also very good at providing any needed information, all the way to the amazing restaurants (Tom's is good for the end of day drinks and desserts, Stefan's is where you find your breakfast in the morning) I can't find anything negative to say about the hotel at all. If you are not travelling by car, you will have to rely on local transit (the #4 Bus and the 601 express both go by the hotel), or you will have to rely on cabs. You could probably walk here from the train station on a nice sunny day in the summer. It seems to be a very nice city to get around too, and we look forward to coming back the Best Western in the summer time - when it's warmer

The Fantasy Suites are a cool experience. Very affordable too. We stayed in the ‘Northern Lights' room with a private hot tub. Highly recommend this hotel. Tom's Place is the in-house lounge. Sink into a wing-backed chair and soak up the British-pub style ambiance.

I go there for business purposes for the last couple of years and always meet and exceed expectations. They also have a electric car charger which comes handy! Another good thing is that there are two excellent places to eat within the hotel.

Always friendly and welcoming! The rooms are always very clean. The breakfast is really good and have lost of variety of foods! It's in a good location and we have been going to this Best Western Fireside Inn for many years and we plan on going back for many more.

Much nicer than the delta on the waterfront and bw does not charge for parking. Location isn't near the hub. Carpet in rooms I never liked. Food is good in the bistro high level of service. Exercise room needs some updates.

The atmosphere was very cosy and the staff attentive. Excellent hot breakfast with lots of choices...fresh eggs, sausages and homefries, waffles, plus cereals and etc. The room had a fireplace with a large sitting area. The place felt like home with its décor.

Best Western (Fireside Inn) Kingston is always a great stay for me. I have stayed over 20 times throughout the years. Whenever I show up they still great me with a smile and recognize that I am a loyal customer and thank me every time I stay there. They have always gone the extra mile for me when I stay there.

We had 2 memorable nights in Tranquility base room at the fireside inn.2 great meals in the onsite restaurants along with excellent service .The place was very clean and the staff very friendly.We have booked our next stay there already in one of the other Fantasy suites.We highly recommend.

Older motel with so much ch character it should be on your where to stay list. So cozy in every way. Food in the casual lounge was excellent. Don't let the older look and low pricing scare you off. I will definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone looking for a charming place to stay

Great hotel ... sorry we were only there one night. Beautifully clean room with a hunting lodge feel to it. Loved the fireplace in the room. Restaurant and dining room were gorgeous ... so many small details like the birds in the ceiling mouldings. Breakfast was good.

Excellent service, convenient location for amenities. Both restaurants were excellent; we even went back there for lunch on our way home after our meetings at another location. Want to come back with my family!!

It's always a pleasure to come back to Kingston and stay at the Fireside Inn. I have to pick up the right nights to do so to keep prices reasonable. Clean rooms, great breakfast, nice people and very efficient check-in check-out. I won't call it my second home, but it's a "feel good" hotel.

As promised the fireplace was in the room, which created a nice atmosphere. The bed is comfortable. I liked the double shower head. The couch and coffee table have seen better days and it felt a bit dated. No elevator, it is an INN. Breakfast was ok.

Clean hotel rooms, comfortable beds! Good breakfast. Missed out on the oysters at the bar...my mistake...had to be there before 9 pm, It was to cold for swimming, but will be back in the summer, the pool area looked nice.

My husband and I stayed for 1 night to attend a wedding. We actually loved the room, it was super cute and cozy. The fireplace was a nice touch and the large wooden furniture just made it feel like a cabin. Bed was comfortable and it was nice and quiet, compared to some of the newer hotels where you can hear every little noise from the hallway. Would definitely stay again, it was conveniently located and the check-in process was super easy and the ladies at the desk were super friendly and helpful.

The BW Fireside Inn is a convenient location and from what we saw and experienced is a well maintained facility that is clean, comfortable and quiet. Food and beverage service is available on site and other great food alternatives are only a short drive away.

My wife and I stayed at the fireside inn unfortunately just for one night we would have loved to have-stayed longer. This is a lovely hotel with great staff. Our room was large and clean,had everything we could need , coffee toiletries plenty o fresh soft towels ect. The breakfast was fantastic with loads of choices. The on site restaurant Tom's place was a bonus as well what a lovely place and the food good to boot. We enjoyed in so much I think we will have to go back to Canada just to get to stay here for longer.

We discovered this gem off the 401 last year and have since stayed 3 times when travelling to Ontario. A comfortable, clean welcoming stay for our family. The rooms are cosy, if not a little "countrified" and the breakfast buffet is a great deal!

We so enjoyed our stay and the room was very clean and comfortable. A fireplace and 2 beds and a sofa - what more could you ask for on your anniversary/birthday. I would recommend this place to everyone and will be talking about it for months.

My husband is intrigued by space so as a surprise I booked the Tranquility Base Room. It was so amazing!! An out of this world experience! In our room was a complimentary bottle of wine and chocolate covered strawberries. Even a Mars bar. The whirlpool was big. Lighting in the room set the ambiance. Sleeping in the lunar capsule under the stars in space was cool. It was very quiet and relaxing. It lived up to my expectations and even more!! Staff was friendly and helpful. We ate dinner at Bristo Stefan's. The service was great and the Prime Rib was one of the best I have had. Highly recommend it. Can't wait to go back to stay in another Fantasy Suite.

This hotel is extremely out of date with a smell, especially the bathroom smells of uncleared urine. It is so bad that both of us didn't take a shower which is very unusual for us. We were told our room is at west side. After we parked our car, we saw it is a little stairway to walk to second floor. It is very difficult to carry the luggage's to use the key to open the entrance door. We stayed at many Best Western hotels. I don't believe this hotel carries Best Western standard. The food in the restaurant and the breakfast is nothing to brag about.

Very nice room, comfortable bed, corner fireplace, quality equipment in fitness room, and a particularly welcoming breakfast area. The buffet breakfast is somewhat typical of most hotels, with a nice selection of hot and cold entrees along with the benefit of helpful employees in the dining area, a rarity at most mid-range hotels. A relaxing environment to enjoy breakfast in, without feeling crowded or rushed.

They really did stick with the rustic theme--the room had a "cabiny" feel. There was even a wooden shelf with a carved duck and some old books about Canada. One book was really hysterical. The living/sleeping part of the room was quite generous, but the bathroom was super tiny--it felt crowded with just one person in it. There was also a small fridge in the room, but no microwave. In fact, there was no microwave for any guest to use in the entire facility! In the future, that might be a nice addition for instance for boiling hot water for tea that doesn't have a coffee aftertaste or heating a hot pack. Breakfast choices were many and were protein-friendly.

When we first started going to this room for our anniversary it was a very nice experience. We were just there on the weekend and it was a little disappointing. Room service breakfast is no long included in the package but buffet breakfast is. The potatoes and scrambled eggs were cold and it was not a great breakfast. There use to be a propane fireplace in the room - now it is an electric fireplace that produces no heat (disappointing). Large water stain on ceiling between the hot tub and the fireplace. Just not the nice experience it use to be. Room cost with tax was $440 including tax and in our opinion just not worth the money anymore.

The beauty of a theme fireplace room with hot-tub requires no further explanation. We were pampered from the moment we arrived by staff members who seemed to care; which was a real treat. Although not on the waterfront, this hotel satisfies as advertised.

The positives: all staff were very friendly the beds and pillows were very comfortable the location is good the room on the surface is clean the breakfast is okay The negatives: the TV remote did not work the tv picture was pixilated and distorted the internet was down in the morning all the grout in the tile ceiling and a lot in the tub surround was coated in mould

Love the warm rustic feel of the hotel. The room I had was more than plenty. Clean and comfortable. Hotel staff friendly and willing to help. I've found my go to hotel when I travel to Kingston every month. I highly recommend this hotel!

This property has BEAUTIFUL gardens. The buffet breakfast was, without a doubt, THE best breakfast I have ever had at a Best Western property, and I've been to many. The room was dated, but everything worked well and it was exceptionally clean and quiet. Little extras were noted, such a "real" coffee creamers in the refrigerator rather than the disgusting powdered stuff.

A good deal by Kingston standards. We had a spacious room with a comfortable bed. Dark-hued decor with fireplace would be most inviting in fall or winter. Ample free parking was welcome, given the cramped and pricy parking garages of the downtown Kingston hotels. Heated outdoor pool still open in mid-September was a bonus. Edible full buffet breakfast included. One negative experience: I left an item of clothing worth over $100 in one of the drawers and realized it when I got home. It seems that one of the cleaning staff helped themselves to it. Well, maybe the succeeding guests, but the desk clerk told me over the phone that cleaning staff are instructed to clear all drawers and turn in any usable items to the lost and found. Not a surprise, but it is kind of sad that some people don't get it that the law does not recognize "finders, keepers."

This is a great hotel . Comfortable beds, friendly staff. Both restaurants on the property are very good. The rooms feel like you're at a cottage. The shower heads are awesome as well. I highly recommend.

We were traveling through Canada to Vermont and I wanted a quiet hotel that reviewers found clean and comfortable. I was not disappointed. Because we had traveled all day I also wanted a hotel that had a restaurant on site. The Bistro had excellent food at a reasonable price.

This is by far the "Best" Best Western we have ever stayed at. Beautiful decor and fireplaces in the rooms just add the final touch. Great speedy check in and out. Two restaurant options on site make for an easy dinner choice too.

Right from the check in to the room to the restaurants to the service, we give this hotel a 10 rating. We will be back to stay again when we have more time to explore the city. The outdoor pool was very inviting but it was too cold out to swim, but next time

All rooms have fireplaces! Great location and the restaurant is SO GOOD! I honestly have never been to a better restaurant at a Best Western. I would even go back without staying at the hotel. The dinner special is hands down the best value anywhere. We asked why they don't charge more and they said Kingston has a ton of competition. Bistro Stefan is a Kingston favorite for a reason. The food was amazing and I'm a foodie so that's saying a lot. I ordered a martini and it was ON POINT. Back to the hotel, the staff is super friendly and professional. We came for a one night escape for our 1 year wedding anniversary and we will definitely be back. It is only 45 minutes to Three Dog Winery which is open all year and that was great too.

Hotel was very nice. Room had 4-poster bed with fireplace. Very comfortable. Restaurants were just off the lobby and very conveniently located. Food was good and great value. Thr French Onion soup was a very hearty meal in itself.

This is our third holiday in Canada and we have been lucky to have stayed in a great selection of hotels. The Fireside Inn in Kingston is another great example. Our budget for hotels is not huge and so we always look for mid-range hotels with solid reviews which is how we picked the Fireside. Easy to find on one of the main streets into Kingston, the hotel has a good sized free car park which always had a space for us. We had a regular king-bed 'fireplace' room which was a very good size. It was clean and tidy - a special mention to the over-bath shower which had two shower heads which made for a really good experience. The room was well equipped and the free wifi was strong throughout. Breakfast was buffet-style and perfectly fine. The hotel has a good sized outdoor swimming pool with seating around it. The hotel was about a 35-40 minute walk into Kingston for us, but there are bus stops nearby if you prefer. Under 5 minutes walk is a 'Food Basics' supermarket which is very handy for bottled water, fruit and any other basics you might need for the in-room fridge. We found Kingston itself to be a lovely lakeside town, and a great base to tour the 1000 Islands. Apart from breakfasts, we didn't eat in the more upmarket Bistro, but we did use Tom's Place bar in the hotel every day for drinks and bar food. We enjoyed Tom's Place very much, it has an easy style and friendly atmosphere. A special mention for two of the staff in Tom's - Diane and Hunter - who were particularly warm hearted company. We were genuinely sad to leave the Fireside, which is about the best compliment we could pay to this super hotel and it's team. Would love to stop at this hotel again someday.

Front desk staff was excellent. King sized bed was too soft, we were sinking....lol. Pool looked good, but did not swim, restaurant bar looked good, breakfast was good, servers at breakfast were very smily.

I love this hotel . Each time I have a reason to go to Kingston area I take it , just to stay in that hotel. The staff is wonderful, the owners are delightful and the decor suits me. It is warm , inviting and comfortable . I haven't stayed in the theme rooms yet but will find a reason to - ? my birthday ??

This is our go to place when in Kingston, for couples they have rooms with jacuzzi tubs, they also have fantasy rooms, we have used both types of rooms in the past years and they are amazing. There standard rooms are large in size, with beds and couch area, with plenty of room to hang clothes or put in dresser. The hotel is quiet, extremely clean and 5 minutes from downtown area.

Clean and cozy rooms with fireplaces. Good and reasonably priced meals at the two on-site restaurants. Easy access to downtown and waterfront. The computers in the business centre was extremely slow. Need to be upgraded to high speed.

Just got back from one night at this hotel. We really enjoyed it. The staff from beginning to end greeted us with smiles and it genuinely appeared they loved their jobs. We arrived early and although our room was not ready they asked for our number and said they would call when it was ready. Honestly I didn't expect a call. Good customer service is hard to come by these days so I just assumed we wouldn't be able to get in earlier than the 3pm check in. It was so nice to have actually gotten a call and we were able to check in a little early. We were already impressed at this point. Breakfast was another highlight. It's complimentary and far better than most breakfasts offered by hotels. Scrambled eggs, ham, sausages, all sorts of breads and muffins, pancakes, fruits, beans, hash browns, etc. I wasn't expecting much since most times hotels offer breakfast it's often bagels, toast, cereals, yogurt, etc and super basic. We thought we would check it out and then likely go out for breakfast like we normally do but we didn't have to. So much selection, we were so impressed. Rooms were clean and comfortable. We would stay here again in the future for sure.

Such a fun room. Too pricey but worth it I think. We payed 600 for 2 nights. Susie Wong Fantasy room. Need a little upgrade though like the toilet flush is broken rusted inside the tank. We are goingback next year and book the Tranquility Base. Food are great specially Tom's Place. Great breakfast at Bistro Stefan. Scrambled egg, waffles,sausage, ham, beans, fruits boiled egg, home fries,bread, coffee and tea. All included in our stay. The staff are nice. Oh they need to put their cover sheet and pillow display cover for a wash it smells like a mans sweat. Other wise we had a lot of fun.

This location really surprised us. We stayed 2 separate nights while dropping off and picking up our daughter from Queen's University. A short drive to the downtown area. I chose it initially because it had an outdoor pool. This hotel is beautiful, cozy, extremely clean and has excellent customer service! The beds are very comfortable. The only negative is the weak wifi. It kept bumping us out.

Stayed here for four days for work and was not very pleased. The only positive thing was the comfortable bed. The bathroom was very tiny, the breakfast area was too small (so much so that we didn't even go for breakfast after the first day) and the tv channel selection was the worse! One day the maintenance guy knocked on our door and literally opened it before I had a chance to answer (within seconds and it's a good thing we were decent!). This hotel is at the bottom of my list when I visit Kingston again!

The fantasy suite hot air balloon room is incredible. Three floors. First floor is a plush bed with a large hot air balloon with a tv inside to watch while laying down. Walls are nice stone work with murals of a village with hot airs balloons. Next floor up nice fireplace and couch. Next floor up, huge clean hot tub, sauna, kitchenette, comfy couch and big screen tv. When the lights are out the balloons glow softly. Stunning! Down side... although clean, carpet is worn. For $500+ a night, there are only two chocolate covered strawberries and the wine is not great. The included breakfast was very substandard, wieners and stale muffins. They should definitely improve the breakfast! Staff is awesome, friendly and welcoming. It is definitely something to do for a romantic night just bring your own wine and snacks and don't expect much for breakfast. I will definitely try other theme rooms. It is a must do couple experience ❤️

We stopped here being everything by the water was booked. Glad it was because this place was us. Old cabin/lodge type place. fireplace(for looks) in room nice and cool ac nice pool. Tome place was great for food. very nice breakfast . Quiet place too. beds were great staff was fantastic, Can say enough of how pleased we were to go here. They have Theme rooms too but a little pricey. Maybe on day we will try one. Highly recommend this one. Larger room made it so comfy and cozy

We have visited Kingston many times over the years with the last 3 staying at the Best Western Fireside. The room, amenities and staff have been lovely. One of the nicest outdoor pool areas yet. The breakfast is plentiful with sever hot items and a great selection. The location is not far from the downtown area and local sites.

My wife and I spent 6 days with the folks at the Best Western Fireside Inn and the only word that comes to mind is Exceptional. We were to be there for only 3 nights and our plans changed due to a rescheduling at the KGH. The event was stressful enough but to add the change of added nights was to say awful. The staff on the front desk pulled out all the stops and made the necessary changes to extend our stay and made us feel so welcome. We can't say enough about all the staff, they were as I have said exceptional.

We stopped here on our way from Niagara to Ottawa to make the drive a little easier, and I'm glad that I'm a Best Western card carrier as this place was a delightful surprise. Our good-sized room featured a comfortable king bed, sitting chair and couch (I was impressed.) as well as a fireplace, which looked nice but it was 33C. The hotel was larger than imagined along with a pool and staff were quite pleasant. The complimentary breakfast was exceptional, offering myriad treats both hot and cold. The location allowed easy access to downtown where we roamed for a few hours, eventually dining at a craft beer restaurant. Yes, we would gladly return.

We booked in advance with our Elite status and were promised a room for 1. No room was ready until 3.NO Elite welcome package. We ate in Tom's Bar to put in time. The room was okay. Lovely four poster king sized bed. No elevator so we had to drag suitcases up the stairs. Fortunately the handicap parking space was right beside the entrance to the second floor. A very good breakfast was included.

I have stayed here several times. On reception, I was welcomed, efficiently checked in and offered an upgrade to one of their "Fantasy Theme Suites", in addition to the always outstanding complimentary buffet breakfast and other perks. I accepted a stay in the "Tranquility Landing" suite, which emulates a lunar landing capsule and moonscape environment. Designed in a former squash court, this three level suite offered a very whimsical yet realistic stay in a bed situated in a full size landing module, with jacuzzi tub....a deep pool on the second level surrounded by moonrock, a main floor fireplace/lounge area and a very generous bathroom. Everything was perfect, includiing the provision of the Mars chocolate bar.....and the floating astronaut stayed in one place. A one of a kind experience, in a facility that understands the meaning of hospitality and valuing repeat clients. Outstanding reception staff, restaurant staff, buffet breakfast and housekeeping. I will return....often.

I have rated this Hotel alot in the last 7 months as we have had to make many trips to Kingston. We have stayed at other motel/hotels in the past and nothing wrong with them. this Hotel goes above and beyond. Very quaint approx. 74 rooms which has suites, fantasy rooms and regular rooms. Rooms are very nice and have alot of character. Every room has a fireplace (electric) which adds to the character. ALL staff is so friendly. I have never had a bad experience with any staff and I have been staying here for the past 5 years. You wont be disappointed. Great value for your stay. Two restaurants on site which is super convenient. Beds are so comfortable and the pillows.....awwwww a little piece of heaven

the hotel was nice and clean. Tom's Place for drinks in the late afternoon was great and Bistro Stefan was an excellent dinner choice. the starters and entre's were all great and came out in a timely fashion. We were not rushed at all and enjoyed our leisurely dinner.

I did a tour of the wineries in Prince Edward County with friends and since hotels were really expensive closer there, we decided to stay in Kingston. I was really happy with the Best Western. Even though I have traveled quite a lot in the past, I had never stayed at a Best Western before. I would go back there in a minute since my stay was a pleasant one. The room was quite spacious. Every room has a fireplace. The bed was really comfortable. The bathroom was spotless!! The wifi was fast and the breakfast good. I read by the pool in the morning and it was quiet. Even though the hotel was fully booked, I never heard anything coming from other rooms or the hallway. The soundproofing is incredible! It was as though I was alone in the world in my room. The only con was that the decor of the room is a bit dated. You can see that it was furnished a while back but since everything is clean, it doesn't matter. I recommend it highly!

We returned once again to the Best Western Fireside Inn in Kingston and had a wonderful visit. We chose to stay in one of their premiere Fantasy Suites, the Flights of Fantasy, a two-story hot air balloon themed room with a jacuzzi tub and a sauna! It is a beautiful room with amazing amenities! The buffet breakfast is always good and the $20 voucher for food and drink at their pub or restaurant helps too. We went to the pub and had a great time. The waitress/bartender was super friendly and the food and drink was fantastic. My wife's cosmopolitans were strong and yummy and my beer was tasty. We look forward to our next visit to Kingston and the Fireside Inn!

I'm a wheelchair user and am used to my accessibility needs being treated as an inconvenience when I travel. I stayed at the Best Western Fireside Inn for one night on short notice when my air conditioner broke and I needed to escape the heat. I had my dog with me, and was impressed by how welcoming and accommodating the staff were - in particular, that they had a takeout option for both dinner and the included breakfast buffet, and that the staff enthusiastically helped carry my food to the room. They were also very welcoming to my dog, who is anxious around strangers, which helped her to calm down and feel more secure. The food was delicious, and prepared with caution (I have a number of food intolerances and it's always a bit of a gamble when I'm not eating at home, but I didn't react at all.)

First time and wont be the last.. Awesome Hotel with a great breakfast Staff was very helpful and nice... The rooms were bigger than I thought and very clean. Not far from downtown and not far from the Mall.... Thank you

The Best Western Fireside Inn is a great hotel option situated about 10 mins. from the Kingston waterfront. Hotel features a great outdoor pool area with food and non-alcoholic beverage service, a hot and cold breakfast with many options to suit all tastes, comfortable rooms, and friendly staff. Definitely consider this hotel for your Kingston stay.

We stayed at the Best Western Fireside Inn and it was a really nice hotel. Everyone from the ladies at the check in desk to the restaurants were so kind and helpful. We loved the swimming pool. It was the perfect way to end a busy day of touring. The breakfast was so good. The waffle maker was a great added touch. I would recommend this hotel if you are visiting the Kingston area.

I was very impressed by the comfort of this hotel room. Warm and relaxing, with details like real ceramic mugs for your morning coffee (as opposed to horrid styrofoam), and creamers waiting in the fridge. The complimentary breakfast was outstanding. Staff all very friendly.

My wife and I stayed 2 nights and it was SUPER-EXCELLENT. Hailey Fournier and all the staff I had contact with were excellent. When we travel to Ontario, we always make this hotel one of our overnight stops. Maybe a total of 5 or 6 nights in the last 4 to 5 years. Keep up the excellent work everyone at Best Western Fireside Inn, Kingston. We definitely plan to continue staying at Fireside Inn on our Ontario trips.

Rooms were very clean. Decor a bit outdated, but all the amenities you could ask for. Bathroom looked like it had possibly had an upgrade recently. Staff very helpful and courteous. 2 restaurants, we ate at Toms for dinner, possibly the best French onion soup we have ever had. Very good portion sizes, reasonable prices. Breakfast was included in the price, hot or cold, buffet style served at the other restaurant in the hotel. We had the hot breakfast, was very good.

Came here for one night to do some sights in Kingston. Have been here previously and have enjoyed each time. Small hiccup at check in but the staff gave us another room to compensate. Very pleased. Would recommend

could not ask for more in accommodation...far above average. The food and the staff again were the best. We revised our trip for a return visit and we were not disappointed. The rooms are exceptional, clean, creative decor, great beds altogether a most pleasant experience.

Very affordable, spacious rooms, all basic comfort is available. Small garden with pool available. Very friendly staff. Privat hotel parking free-of-charge. Also the breakfast is as one would expect. Nothing fancy but a good value stay.

Nice hotel on main road into Kingston. Handy for access to downtown Kingston and easy access to the highway was the main reason we selected this hotel. The staff at reception and in the bar and restaurant were all friendly and very helpful. Nice room on 2nd floor, clean and comfortable, king size bed and fireplace. Breakfast buffet good choice and evening meal in Bistro was excellent. Only downside to our stay was the drunken noise from the room below at 1-30 am which went on so long we had to ask night staff to sort out.

After stopping out the front of two motels in Kingston and driving off because of how “run down “ they looked, we were pleasantly surprised as we drove into the drive way of the Fireside Inn. The exterior looked lovely, clean and welcoming. The best was yet to come. I was greeted by a lovely young lady who told us yes there was availability here. Within a very short time I was booked in, joined the loyalty club and told breakfast was included in the price. She also recommended the dining room for dinner and that was excellent. This hotel was the most friendly and the best of all of our accommodation we booked in Ontario. Thank you Fireside Inn.

The room was comfortable and cozy, there was a good selection of hot breakfast items and the outdoor pool/patio area is lovely. There are lots of trees and you can get drink/food service on the patio.

We stayed room 105 14th may to 28th may 2019 visiting our family..I feel I must finally thank you all for the quality of our stay, I was quite unwell during my stay and am only just recovered,we had a spotlessly clean room,lovely breakfasts,staff in all departments were so kind and helpful..the staff in the bistro particularly helped me when I fell over..again when I left my handbag in the bistro,I hope I can return one day as although I was ill had a wonderful stay thank you Irene and Steve Mulvale..padstow Cornwall UK xXxX

The rooms are a bit dated, but extremely clean. The place feels like a lodge -- the restaurant is great -- good food and drink. I can not ompliment each and every employee ebough. All are very friendly, helpfulo and were very informative. This is a real gem.

we came to this motel in Jan for my husbands birthday , and before we left we booked another fantasy suite for my birthday, We would be going back to this motel again, we love Kingston to shop , first time we had the Lords and Ladies suite, this time we had space one

Would highly recommend for the traveler that doesn't want to spend a lot for a short stay. Staff is extremely friendly and room was spacious and very clean. Shower head was great. Tom's Place had great food and service.

Each time I visit Kingston I stay at the Fireside Inn. The service and hotel are always excellent. Rooms are clean and well appointed (including a fireplace), bed(s) are extremely comfortable and the breakfast brunch is very good. Check in / out is easy. If you want to stay in to dine there is Tom's Place or Bistro Stefan within the hotel. There is ample free parking with easy access to the hotel. While the hotel is part of the Best Western chain it has it's own unique charm.

We stayed 1 night at the Best Western Fireside during our Kingston Getaway. Clean comfortable, friendly staff, good breakfast. Close proximity to the highway, waterfront and tourist attractions such as the Kingston Penitentiary.

Have been to this location several times with the Hifgway of Heroes ride. The location serves as a launching point for the Memorial Ride on Sunday. This is a very nice location. Only two stories high so no elevator but reasonable rates.

We stayed in the Suzy Wong room for one night. We enjoyed the jacuzzi tub, fireplace and how comfortable the bed and pillows were. The sparkling wine, chocolate dipped strawberries, the special dinner menu and dining discount were an added bonusThe hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The food and service at the Bistro was excellent. The lounge was very social. We will definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the Fireside Best Western in Kingston. It was a great experience form start to finish. It has an amazing breakfast that is included. Great spot and it is accessible to everything going on in Kingston.

Simply Excellent. Thus Best Western is really a beautiful Lodge type setting. Toms Place is a wonderful lounge and excels with its menu. Also the Stefan Bistro is the upscale restaurant and both are located attached to this lovely hotel

Stayed here for 6 nights - 1 regular room, one Tranquility base and 4 Northern Lights room. Came here on vacation, never been before, but I will come back to Kingston just because of this place. All rooms were clean and cozy, sleeping in a spaceship was a lot of fun, but I loved the hot tub in the Northern Lights room. Just floating in silence, letting my whole being relax. Very easy to get in and out of, and there were lots of towels. Would suggest the hotel stock queen sized robes for special requests, since 'one-size does not fit all'. In the front lobby, there is a unique bench carved from a tree trunk, that was both comfortable and so beautiful I had to get my picture taken on it. The Toms Place restaurant were quick, friendly and efficient, and the food was tasty. The Bistro Stefan was amazing! I had tender rib-eye steaks with baked potatoes so well cooked the skin was delicious too. The chicken scaloppini was moist and tasted really good, and the veg were cooked correctly, neither mushy nor crunchy, but that happy medium. The double chocolate cheesecake was a wonder. The efficient and friendly staff, from housekeeping to managers, went out of their way to give me a good experience, and explain or help me anytime I needed. What a wonderful home-base for a 1,000 Islands adventure!

I stayed her as part of a visit to Canada so that I could visit lots of family members in Ontario. Not only was the hotel warm and friendly but staff went the extra 2 miles to help me solve major problem. You see, I had left the hotel to journey to Ottawa for the next stage of my trip and when I got to Ottawa I realised I had left my insulin in the ,minibar ‘fridge in my room. After a number of phone calls staff there found the medicine and sent it UPS to me in Ottawa. This was so important and the hotel realised this and went out of their way to find a solution. I am so thankful to them and indeed the organising lady at UPS Kingston for helping me in a desperate situation. They all deserve 5 star ratings

We have been coming to the Fireside for over 25 years . We had dinner in Toms the first night and Stefans the second . Great service , food and very friendly staff . I asked for a map to a local small town and had a goodle map printed by front desk in 5 minutes . Great smile and feels like home

I recently spent a night at Best Western Fireside Inn, Kingston, Ontario for business. It was a very relaxing, enjoyable experience. The location was central to everything in Kingston - and also close to the highway with lots of parking. The room was very spacious and well appointed and the check in was quick and friendly. Best of all was the complimentary hot buffet breakfast. It was a full, healthy meal with scrambled eggs, ham and sausage...with waffles, fruit and cereal for lighter appetites. Overall it was a very enjoyable stay and I would recommend it highly to anyone staying in Kingston.

Great experiance at the hotel. Check in/out was fast. The staff are all friendly, informative, and helpful. The room was clean, the electric fireplace was a nice touch. The king-size bed was very comfortable. Loved the double shower head.

Hotel rooms, in general are very similar, however, what I feel makes a significant difference is the staff. I felt the Fireside Staff were outstanding, we were very happy with our stay. Everyone from the front desk to the cleaning staff were cordial and helpful. The breakfast was very good, rooms were clean and the overall experience was pleasant and relaxing.

Accommodations were clean and tidy. Staff were attentive and pleasant. Very pleased with our stay and will return. For our purpose, the location was convenient and staff were informative as to attractions available in Kingston. I would recommend this hotel to our friends .

Central, clean, secure, cosy. Outgoing personnel in the hotel and the two restaurants. Very quiet, quality for your money. Easy access to everything, and close parking well lit for security purposes for a single person to feel at ease.

Was looking for an chalet style experience with a hotel service...there were 2 restaurants connected, so I didnt have to go very far, and the service was great, would definitely recommend to people looking for a mini escape.

The hotel is easily located and has a good location. City center is too far to walk to but parking garages are plenty to find so non issue. Front staff was very helpful and friendly. They really were great. Staff at breakfast was very welcoming too! Breakfast was good. Varied as well, a very nice extra. Room however was quite dated. Slide wind was stuck and took a lot of effort difficult to slide open. Room was dark and stuffy. Pillows were lumpy and flat and in need of replacing. Fireplace in the room is a cozy extra though. Parking is free - a nice plus. Hotel has 2 stories and no elevator (or we missed it).

My work and travels have given me the opportunity to stay in hotels all over the globe. Europe, Asia, North America. And I've stayed in famous locations in Las Vegas, New York, Dubai, London, Paris the list goes on.... But nothing compares to this hotel. As rooms go, the standard ones are without comparison. Now the Fantasy-Suites are without doubt the most fun, soul enriching and a real break from life! And if you think, I've said it all, you'd be wrong. You see building don't speak, they are the framework for a message. And as for this hotel and its staff, they are the ones that gave my wife and I the experience of a life time. The staff here speak the language of yester-year. Welcome, genuine-care, and pride. We'll be back! Thank you for everything.

The hotel was quite nice but a bit outdated in terms of the decorating. Would have liked a larger tub. The tub was very small and not conducive to having a leisurely bath. We had a dog, and the charge was quite a lot. I was surprised as some hotels in the area were free for pets.

We have stayed at this hotel many times. I cant say enough about this place. everything is fantastic. They remember us from one visit to the next. Have not met a staff member who isnt smiling. Toms place is amazing place for drinks and food. We eat there every time we are there. We never leave the hotel. Everything is right there for us to enjoy. You will never be disappointed with this hotel.

Check in experience: Checked in on Sunday night. Asked front desk attendant for restaurant/bar suggestions in downtown Kingston. Fireside Inn restaurant was closed. Cocktail lounge had a 9 pm closing sign on its door and it was nearly 9 pm then. Front desk attendant said she knows the city well and nothing I'm looking for would be open on Sunday night. Later I drove past more than 4 open restaurants/bars with seated patrons visible and with online searches showing later closing times. When I asked for directions to my room the front desk attendant responded by positioning her arm behind her back and pointing to her right. Around back, she said. I asked for a route with an elevator to the second floor. She said there was no elevator available. And there was no offer to get a staff member to help me with the luggage I said was very heavy to haul up flights of stairs. The room: Hints of mustiness. The window had no working apparatus to keep it partially open for fresh air. There was a fair bit of noise from the HVAC system. Poor selection of TV channels. Tiny and old bathroom. Building is vintage 1970's. The room was substandard, in my opinion, and priced higher as compared with several other Best Western's where I had recently stayed in the U.S. and in Canada. Room rates: I'm a loyalty/rewards member and had booked my stay on the Best Western site. The rate was extraordinarily high for that class of hotel in a small city. Pricing appeared not to be in line with the fundamentals of supply and demand. There were about a dozen vehicles in the parking lot at the back of the building when I drove around to try to find an exterior stair case to the second floor after checking in. And it was 9 pm. There were about the same number of parked vehicles the next morning. So I wondered why the member/loyalty rate with tax was in the range of $200. Certainly supply of rooms was far greater than demand. Checkout experience: I had missed the free breakfast. I asked the front desk attendant if I might be able to get a muffin and some fruit to take with me. Despite her objections I explained that would only involve putting cut fruit left over from breakfast in a take out container with a lid and putting it in a bag with a muffin and plastic cutlery. She came back with no cut fruit but with a muffin in a bag along with a banana and one other piece of whole fruit. She shoved the bag at my stomach with her fist leading; stopping just short of making contact with my body. General: It appears that the motel may be a family operation. It celebrated its 45th anniversary in 2017. I'm wondering, because of the disinterest these folks displayed in stimulating repeat business, if grandpa is just about finished with the hotel business.

We had a great stay-very comfortable bed-loved the hot tub and the dinner was excellent-prime rib,cooked just the way we wanted,tender and juicy- and baked potato with sour cream and butter-liked the veggies too. Too full for dessert,The chocolate covered strawberries were so good!The room was nice and clean and smelled fresh! We appreciated the special treats too!

This hotel is like coming HOME. Not that sterile hotel feeling. It's like staying at your grandma's cottage. The only thing missing from a stay here is a cat in your room that greets you as enter your room. :) Older hotel, yes. Well maintained and clean? Resounding YES. This is my Kingston business trip go to.

This is not like other best western. The look is like a cabin, very cozy, even with a fireplace into the room. It is clean and the service good. It also offer a bar/pub and a bistro, both also very “warm”. I would say that is a very good roadside hotel, perfect for cold weather

What an amazing experience. The hotel staff were friendly from the moment we checked in. We ate in Tom's Place the Friday night for dinner and the wait staff was amazing. We didn't wait long to be served or to get our food. Any time we asked a question we had an answer right away. I would definitely recommend Best Western Fireside Inn to anyone travelling to Kingston.

Our room was a wonderful surprise. The bed was so comfortable, the decor outstanding, and the jacuzzi tub was such a wonderful feature. A truly relaxing experience.We stayed in the Norther Lights suite, which was very large, also complete with bath robes, lots of towels,fireplace and relaxing furniture.

Everytime I go to Kingston, Fireside Inn is my first choice, even if it's not directly downtown. It's not a luxury place, but it's very clean, friendly, welcoming and trustable : youi know what to expect. Breakfast is included and is quite complete, even if I wish they could have some real coffee to wake me up and not some colored water pretending being a coffee. On the other hand, at the restaurant, Prime Rib is one the best I've had in North America.

Great location, food and service at the restaurant was excellent. Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Kingston area for the weekend. Very cosy, fireplace in the room was a nice touch to the experience.

The hotel was very clean and staff was very friendly. We had the Jacuzzi suite and it was excellent. The tub was huge. The bed was lovely, a little soft but comfortable. Loved the big shower as well. One complain about the tub is it took over 30 mins to fill and the jets were very powerful and couldn't hear each other talk. The sparkling wine and chocolate covered strawberries were a very nice touch. The breakfast was alright, but I only really like the fruit and waffles. Most of the food in the buffet was a little dried out when we got there. The food at Tom's Place was very good, the drinks though weren't every cold. Read a review that the Caesars were the best, but wasn't satisfied as they weren't cold, but warm. Overall, I would stay at a Best Western again in the future as it was a little pricey.

Just came back from a night in one of the fantasy suites. We had chosen the Suzie Wong suite which was quite nice and spacious. The room had everything you needed and a beautiful Jacuzzi in the room that fit 2 people quite comfortably. My only complaint is that the room could use some updating as in some of the light switches didn't work and twice when filling up the hot tub we ran out of hot water half way through but that could be because we did it at "prime" times when the rest of the hotel would be showering. Neither one of those things took away from what a wonderful room this was. Not sure i would go back and try any of the other rooms but it definitely was worth crossing off the old bucket list.

So several times a year, we drive down to Kingston for a night away and stay at the Best Western Fireside Hotel on a regular basis. This time, we chose a whirlpool suite and they gave us the Executive Suite, Room 301. It was a very nice suite, very spacious with a separate bedroom. So far...a high! Dinner and drinks at Tom's Place were great (as always!) and our server, Victoria, was friendly and cheerful! Another high! The low came when we decided to use the whirlpool in the suite...there was very little water pressure (literally a low) and after half an hour, the tub had only filled halfway...as well, by this point in time, the hot water had run out...another big low! We finally gave up on the whirlpool...disappointing given the cost of the room! While a beautiful room, not sure we would do that again.

The theme rooms or just a plain room. Rest assured that it's a Best Western which means a comfortable place to rest your weary body after a long car trip or a good home base to explore the area from. And how can you beat a fireplace to make it feel like home on a cold night.

Apart from our initial registration problem, we found the hotel was a good one to be at for a weekend. We asked for a quiet room on the ground floor and got that. Unfortunately it was a very long walk down two long hallways from the front desk and restaurants. We should have specified that my husband had walking issues. Our television did not work initially as the batteries in the remote were no longer working. The person on the front desk came and exchanged them. The next morning, however, the remote would not work again. This time we did not bother doing anything about it.

Two convenient restaurants on site. The bistro was closed but thoms place was open. Bed was very comfy and room was clean. Fireplace made it cozy. Reason for a 4 star was that the tub had hair in it. It seemed clean but there was some black hair on the bottom of the tub. We Dident take a shower because we werent sure if it was clean. Other then that it was a good stay. Pet friendly room was a great option.

Really appreciated my queen room for my one-night stay during a snowy, cold January. The fireplace and sofa was so welcome, the bed was comfortable, the decor felt like a chalet environment. Everything was clean and in good working order. Great water pressure, good bathroom. The buffet breakfast was greatly appreciated, and better than many similar. Appreciated the parking close to the building as it was a cold night.

Both the sink and the tub did not drain properly. The decor is old. The lighting was dim. The breakfast that was included was diasappointing, it came off as cheap and would have been better not to have included it in the price.

Clean, comfortable rooms, good restaurants and friendly and accommodating staff. Try the prime rib dip sandwich at Tom's Place, the nachos looked good too. Breakfast was good as well. An elevator would be helpful if you have to cart a lot to your room. I'd stay here again.

The staff were outstanding, very kind and provide great assistance when needed. The lounge staff were great and I provided and additional tip of 20% to the waiter working that evening. The rooms were a bit of an issue, i can hear everything next door, common conversation was easily heard in room 105 so i asked to be moved.

My wife and I stayed in a theme room here called Tranquility Base. It was unbelievable. In room jacuzzi, and done up to imitate sleepng in a lunar capsule on the moon. Seriously. Hey also delivered chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of sparkling wine to our room. It was definitely different and a lot of fun.

My wife and I were visiting Kingston for the day and checked into a fantasy suite at the Fireside Inn. What can I say - it was one of the nicest rooms we've had the pleasure of staying in. The bottle of sparkling wine and chocolate dipped strawberries was a nice edition but the HUGE hot tub was beyond awesome. It was so large you could of gotten a half dozen or more people in it - but it was our's for the night! The room was large, comfortable, and well appointed. Wifi was solid - the in room fridge had creamers for the coffee maker and there was bottled water at the ready. The staff was friendly, efficient and helpful. We were given a 20$ gift certificate at check-in for the hotel's restaurant/bistro which we took advantage of. Very good meal - excellent server. Breakfast in the morning was buffet style and had everything anyone would want - eggs, sausage, peameal bacon, cereal, fruit, yogurt, waffles, bread products, coffee/tea, juice. Double thumbs up for an excellent quick get away!

Dinner at Bistro Stefan followed by a night's stay in the Suzy Wong Fantasy Suite was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend for local kingstonians for a night away with a special someone or a relaxing getaway for anyone outside the city. Great for all types of travel

Very nice place with an electric fireplace in each room. Very clean and cozy. Breakfast was fantastic. Did not get to sample dinner since was holiday time and lack of staff. Beautiful decor and comfortable bed with great shower. Good location to downtown Kingston. Friendly staff. Would definitely return.

When visiting in the Kingston area, we always stay at the Best Western Fireside Inn. It offers everything you need for a perfect night away. The staff are outstanding, friendly and knowledgeable, and go ou if their way to ensure your stay is exceptional. With a pub and an excellent restaurant on site, there is no need to venture off the property to find a great meal. The breakfast buffet which is included with the stay, is amazing! They also offer Fantasy Suites, as well as rooms that will accommodate dogs travelling with their owners. The hotel is easy walking distance from a local outdoor plaza for anything you might have forgotten to bring along, and there is a grocery store next door as well. The neighbourhood is residential behind the hotel, which offers a great opportunity for walking in a quiet environment.

Great place to stay. Easy to find. 10 minutes from waterfront and downtown. Lobby was cosy, clean and nicely furnished. Tom's place looked very comfortable and cosy. Room was very clean and well furnished. So cosy. Couch in front of an electric fireplace was a real treat. Bathroom was well maintained. Everything worked. Decor is country lodge. Breakfast was included and was standard fare. Good value for the money. I would stay here again.

I now rate this hotel as the BEST HOTEL in Ontario. My wife and I stayed here at the Fireside Inn on an overnight stop en-route to a Toronto Christmas/New Year's visit to family, relatives and friends and this is a most-beautiful hotel. It has a very precious antique/heritage atmosphere. Everything here is a must for anyone looking to stay at a hotel in Kingston, Ontario. Hopefully this 1,000,001% satisfaction comment will bring them more business! Keep up the wonderful work. We were given an upgrade to a MOST BEAUTIFUL room to our surprise. WOW ...... no-matter-what room we get next time, we still plan to stay here. We hope to do a 2- or 3-night stay to enjoy the historic Kingston area and of course this beautiful hotel. Food, atmosphere, and very friendly staff were great as well in the Bistro Stefan Restaurant. We are very anxious for our next visit.

Throughout the years I have had a Best Western membership. We always found that the Best Western chain had the cleanest rooms, the most courteous staff, the best breakfast. However, this Best Western is truly the Best Best Western I have ever had the privilege of staying. You will be more than pleased of all the amenities this place has for you, whether your are traveling by yourself or have your entire family with you!

We have stayed at this hotel many times. Each time we have been more than pleased. So accommodating every stay. Beds comfy. Rooms clean. Lounge staff friendly. Can't say enough about this hotel. It's always our first choice to stay when we go to Kingston.

Stayed for the weekend in the Fantasy Suite “Tranquility Base”. Amazing quiet, calm and relaxed. Just what we were looking for! The food, room service and drinks were excellent. Staff were amazing. Thank you very much!

For the benefit of the hotel staff, some more feedback is justified. Upon entering the restaurant, doors closed automatically and made a very loud sound due to its strong hinge spring. This shocked us. 15-20 seconds later, the restaurant server came out from the kitchen to see what happened. We guess she thought we had slammed the door in order to draw someone's attention, as this could explain why she had greeted us with such a hostile manner. It would therefore be useful to let the server or anyone working in the restaurant to be aware of the strong door hinge and the potential huge noise that it could make. With this knowledge, any future reoccurrence of similar incident will not create unnecessary negative emotion and subsequent misunderstandings. Review made October 10 2018 : “hotel hardware and service are okay but encountered a very unpleasant experience .... A female worker shouted at us rudely " What are you doing here ?" , when we entered the breakfast room about 30 minutes earlier than the opening hour ....” Responded by Cathay, Sales Manager October 12 2018 : “Thank you for taking the time to write this review, and I do apologize for the unpleasant experience, I spoke with the server and you had startled her, hench the shout, they rarely see anyone that early in the restaurant. She does apologize as well. With that said, we do hope that you will return to the hotel.”

We travel to Toronto frequently and have stayed in several hotels just off the highway, none have even come close to the Fireside Inn. Not only was the price more affordable, but the hotel was cosy and welcoming. The lobby was beautifully decorated for Christmas and it really felt like a country "inn". Our room was immaculate and we were surprised by how spacious it was. The fireplace and love seat were a bonus and the bathroom was spotless. We arrived early in the evening and had planned to eat out but the pub in the hotel looked so inviting that we decided to eat there. When we arrived we were told that there would be a 2 hour wait, but the manager quickly offered for us to eat in the dining room and order from the pub menu, which was more suitable for our 3 children. The dining room was great and our server, Danielle was friendly, kind and very accommodating. We had a well priced dinner that came to under 90.00 ( including tax and tip) for the 5 of us. Our complaints were minimal, the room was very warm as others have said, but we just turned on the air and found it comfortable. The pillows are not feather or even foam and were not great- even our boys noticed. Service at checkout was friendly, but could have been more attentive, such as asking about the stay or wishing us safe travels. That being said, The Fireside Inn was an absolute find and we will definitely never stay anywhere else along the 401, or in Kingston for that matter!

This hotel was a comfortable welcoming place to stay and relax away from home. It is close to downtown where shopping, arenas, theatres, and historical sites are a 5min drive away. Room was clean and quiet with a soothing fireplace.

My wife and I were attending an event at the Little Roadhouse on Days Road and needed a place to stay for the night. I discovered I had enough Airmiles to play for the stay so I booked right away. We were not disappointed. Thought a bit dated, the rooms were cozy and extremely clean. The bathroom was spotless, the carpets well vacuumed and even the artificial plants didn't have a spot of dust. The electric fireplace was a nice touch and a cozy spot to sit while we were waiting to head to dinner. My only complaint was the room was blistering hot. The window didn't open so we were forced to run the air on high for our entire stay. It didn't really help. Not sure what the management can do about this, if anything, but future guests are encouraged to bring a small fan. Another great touch was the free breakfast brunch included in our stay ($12.50 value per person). This wasn't a package of stale bagels and weak coffee - this was a buffet that featured every type of breakfast food imaginable including delicious scrambled eggs, a waffle station, fresh juice, yogurt and sausages. Nothing was missed. That said, the vibe of this hotel was wonderful and I'd like to come back when the pool and patio are open. I'd love to enjoy the delicious food of Tom's Place with some open air dining. Highly recommended.

The hotel is older, bed was fantastic, room ok, very clean. Great shower head in the shower! Bathroom is tiny! Tiles at the front door of room were shiny clean. Had dinner at the restaurant, we both ordered the charbroiled grill burger. Sounded so good. It was a formed patty. Harvey's type! Tasted ok but was disappointed! 2 burgers with sides and 2 beer one cocktail was $62.50 Nice ambiance of the dining room. Had breakfast in the morning. It's free and should be! The eggs were dry and grainy, potatoes tasted like soil! Not the best even for free! We've stayed at the best western in Cornwall, so beautiful, and this place does not compare! Overall. It was just OK

I earned a free stay with BW rewards and knowing the weather can be uncertain I chose to use it on the drive home from St. Catharine's. I have stayed at the BW Fireside Inn before. The service and quality of the rooms, restaurant and bar/lounge are always excellent. It is a pleasant, relaxing oasis and the themed rooms are lovely. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. It is easily accessed from the 401 HWY and minutes from downtown. This is definitely the place to stay in Kingston.

Cozy room with fireplace for ambience. Very clean. Comfortable bed. The staff was very friendly and helpful on check in and in the Bistro the next morning. Breakfast was great and there was a variety to choose from. Express check out is a great idea.

An amazing team of staff members who care, professional and friendly. Our friends and my family met in the middle to celebrate our friend's milestone birthday. They came in from Montreal and we came in from Toronto. We couldn't make it in Friday due to a last minute minor surgery for our daughter but I made arrangements with the hotel for my friend's birthday arrival and they executed it flawlessly for me. Thank you so very much. On Saturday, we met up and toured the beautiful city of Kingston. After a full day out, we enjoyed dinner in at Tom's Place at the hotel. A very popular restaurant and lounge. The service was great, the food was fantastic. One of our friends is a wine connoisseur and tested the knowledge of our server and we were impressed! The rooms were fantastic, clean and loved the traditional Canadian Cottage Rustic Cozy charm with fireplace. A lot of great attention to detail. The Breakfast Attendants were so friendly and professional and busy replenishing the buffet breakfast for the guests. Something for everyone. Loved the touch of baked beans. Great service, great rooms great food and beverage. All around, great hotel. Keep up the excellent work! All the employees deserve recognition!

This was a wonderful place to stay. It was not expensive. The rooms were clean and tidy, and even had a special remote control cleanliness bucket denoting its cleanliness which I was impressed by. There is a fireplace which is a lovely. We were able to take our PET along. The fancy restaurant was fantastic. Great food. The Bar type restaurant had a bunch of stuffed animals and mounted fish denoting hunting and fishing enthusiasm, which I could really appreciate even though I do not do these activities. The staff here take great pride in their restaurant and hotel. The service is terrific and the staff are friendly. Do not expect 1,000,000 channels on your television or movies on demand, at least I could not find any, and that is great. The beds were comfortable. The room was very clean. The Decorum was dated but I liked that also. The hallways are narrow. The entrance lobby small but well placed.Great free parking. Overall, I was very satisfied, and would definitely travel here again. This is not a super luxury hotel, and I am happy with that, as I did not have to pay high price to stay here. This hotel was well worth it.

This is not your typical Best Western. I stay at Best Western's a lot and have stayed in them across Canada and throughout the Western US. This property is special. The fireplace in the room is a great touch. The massive king size four poster bed is beautiful and comfy! There are two great looking restaurants. I only ate at Tom's Place, you can see my review of that. The staff is great, they really make you feel like they are there for you which is so important and something that you don't find that often anymore. If ever a Best Western was quaint this is it. I'd stay here again in an instant and even asked the front desk to call my wife and let her know I was extending my trip so I could stay an extra day - that didn't happen but I asked. I hope I'll be back in Kingston soon so I can stay here again.

I usually stay here annually in the whirlpool suite which is awesome with a seperate bedroom. Cozy bed. The service and staff are excellent as is the restaurant; excellent food and our waiter Bruce is awesome.i would recommend this hotel to friends and family.

I stay at the BW Fireside Inn several times a year. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly & efficient. The rooms are free from “hotel orders”, always clean & more than enough comfortable space. Sheets & linens are fresh, clean & modern. The little pub is always busy but never so busy that you can't be seated or enjoy a conversation and if you are into comfy fireplace settings, you'll be relaxed in minutes. Although I am not fond of the food on the pub side, the restaurant & breakfast are both great. During the summer months, the outdoor pool & patio are a hidden gem in the city. Just a short bus or cab ride to the downtown area makes this hotel a bargain, always fairly priced & often much lower than competitors. It's a family run business & I feel at home & welcome with every visit. Cheers!

Stayed here as two couples for two nights and we were all happy. They accommodated us with our rooms being next to each other and were a big help with restaurant recommendations. The included breakfast is really good with some options you don't see in most other hotels. Like fresh sliced tomatoes. An item I usually have to ask for. The rooms are a bit dated in décor but very comfy including the bed and the bathroom is spotless. The most important thing! Staying here again for sure next time I'm in Kingston.

A romantic getaway at one of their fantasy suites. The room was large and spacious but is in need of updates. Stayed two nights, would recommend only one at that rate especially when our room was not cleaned after vacating it for over 4 hours. After we approached the front desk we were told we would have to vacate the room for another 45 mins to an hour to have it done in the early evening. Not impressed

We stayed here last week. The hotel was nice with good breakfast buffet included. We went to Bistro Stefan for dinner and the food was excellent. You get a discount menu if you are staying there. We were considering to stay in one of their theme suites, but the person did not want to let us see them. She only would let us look at some pics. In the end, we stayed in a regular room (CAA had a good discount). Also, we went to the comedy club next door which was lots of fun.

An amazing BW, immaculate, the friendliest staff, absolutely charming good sized rooms, two onsite restaurants serving reasonably priced delicious food, free Wi-Fi, parking and a great breakfast buffet. Also pet friendly if travelling with your fur babies. Can't wait for an occasion to return! Also close to downtown Kingston. A must if in the area!

We love coming here for a weekend getaway. The fireplaces in the room, diningroom and Tom's Place make for a relaxing and cozy atmosphere. The pool in the summer is well set up outside. The meals at Stefan's Bistro are top quality. We love that a buffet breakfast is included.

Front desk staff went above and beyond to book a trip for us the following day, amenities were great and breakfast was good as well. Room was very well decorated and clean, bed was good and the bar and restaurant were very good and the stay was great!

This hotel was in a good location for us on Princess Street. The room was decorated beautifully and was very comfortable. Everything was operational and the hot breakfast in the morning was good and handy.

Very accommodating staff. Good location to watch the women's field hockey team at Queen's University. Check in was quick and easy. Room was clean and ready for us when we arrived. Front desk staff was friendly.

Stayed here after St.Lawrence River cruise, a good distance from the port so took a taxi. Room was clean and very comfortable, great shower. Nice buffet breakfast and free airport shuttle were included. Reasonable on-site restaurant [Tom's Place] for supper. Just be aware that the two-story hotel does not have an elevator.

The stay at this facility overall was nice. We did find the bed much too hard but everything else was very good. The staff was friendly and helpful and the room and common areas were clean and in good shape.

My husband and I had an amazing stay! It was the first stop to our honeymoon and they upgraded us to a whirlpool suite! Everyone was very nice and the rooms were clean and the internet worked great. We are hoping to stay there again one day in the future.

Decor was wood and colonial and the hall ways made us feel like we were on the Titanic due to the amount of hardwood and the narrow hallway. The suite jacuzzi room was large with a mountain chalet feel to it. It was a comfortable enjoyable stay. The Tom's place bar/lounge had great food and staff.

Best Western Fireside Inn is a wonderful hotel. We arrived early, and asked for an early check in, but was told to come back, went back a 2nd time room still not ready. It would have been nice to get a room after a long drive.Great location, close to malls and restaurants. What we liked about it, it was really comfortable and very homey, sort of cottage style, with a fireplace. The room was a decent size which was good because when the rest of our family came they were able to stay in the room with us until their rooms were ready. The bed and pillows were very comfortable so it was a great sleep. There is a mini fridge, flat screen tv, safe, pool,also a menu to order from the in house restaurant. Breakfast was great, enough hot food to choose from.with many other choices. The breakfast staff was very accomodating to whatever your needs were, always replenishing when needed. Front desk staff was very helpful with directions and gave us a tour guide of Kingston with coupons to use (i think her name was Catherine, not sure thanks). This is one of the better Best Westerns we have stayed at We were able to take photos outside, nice backdrop scenery at the front. During check out, the young man was very courteous, and actually knew we were there for a wedding, asked how we enjoyed our time, We all really liked this hotel and would definitely return. This is a redo review and i apologize for giving the wrong rating. Great Hotel!! Highly recommend for an enjoyable stay.

We spent 2 nights at the BW in Kingston. It was a very comfortable stay. With fireside ambiance clean semi updated rooms and pool. Very interesting double shower heads in the updated bathrooms. Narrow hallways lends to the cozy atmosphere. A nice stay.

My wife and I travelled to Kingston recently (Sept, 2018) to enjoy a tour of the Kingston Penitentiary and a 5 hour cruise through the 1000 Islands and Boldt Castle. Our trip included a two night stay at the Best Western Fireside Inn. We've stayed in a few Best Western hotels, but this hotel quickly became one of our favourites. The hotel was clean, the staff were cheerful and welcoming, and the food at the two attached restaurants were excellent. The complementary hot breakfast was very tasty and plentiful. The overall design and feel of the hotel is reminiscent of a northern Ontario, Muskoka setting, with lots of knotty pine and heavy timbers. We had a king size bed perched upon a large four poster bed frame. The mattress was very comfortable. Our room was located on the first floor of the hotel, with our window facing directly onto the pool. We had occasion to walk around the pool, but did not go for a swim (no swim suits with us ;-( The pool did appear clean and inviting, with an average of 6 or 8 people using it at any given time. The hotel is conveniently located about 3 kms from Hwy 401 and only about 25 minutes drive away from Gananoque, where the 1000 Island Cruise is located. For our tour of the Kingston Penitentiary, it was a short 15 minute drive. I really can't say anything negative about the BW Fireside Inn. I was even impressed by the automatic double front doors what opened right up upon our arrival with our luggage. We will definitely return on our next visit to Kingston. Highly recommended!

I can't praise this place enough. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary. We were upgraded to a whirlpool suite and had a bottle of sparkling wine and chocolate covered strawberries awaiting us. This was unexpected and super nice. The concierge staff was great, very friendly and helpful! The bed was super comfy... we slept like logs! The whirlpool was huge and comfortable. The only criticism: the rooms looks a little dated... very old style, but cozy and comfortable Altogether, an excellent time. I would definitely go back!

Two night stay at a great hotel. We arrived and were greeted by Hailey and Rachel at the front desk for a fast and pleasant checkin. Rooms were real nice and quiet and very comfortable. The complamentry breakfast was outstanding and Tom's Place (bar) was again above expectations. The server Kate made great recommandations and the best Ceaser I have ever had. All in all a great experiance and we plan on returning again soon. No hesitation in recommending this hotel.

This is a clean, comfortable property. Very attractive landscaping and well kept pool.The breakfast has improved recently e.g. much better breakfast fruit.Some areas of hotel are rather warm. This hotel provides some areas with accessibility but it lacks an elevator.

We stayed at the Best western Fireside Inn during our trip to kingston trip and stayed in the fantasy suite Tranquility Base. The room is absolutely out of this world for the decor of the room. It was amazing as how realistic it seemed. The room was absolutely fantastic. The bottle of wine and chocolate strawberries that came with the room were a nice added bonus. The room is huge and comes with a nice whirlpool tub. The breakfast buffet the next day was great. Front desk staff were friendly and super helpful. Amazing stay. We will be back to try another fantasy suite

everything great except don't like the idea of not being able to enter my room from outside, especially for walker or wheelchair.The food was excellent, the staff was polite and helpful. rooms were clean we were in need of being close to hospital. this was good for that. very good excellent breakfast.

This is a very nice hotel. Very homey feel to the rooms. Made you feel comfortable and relaxed. We picked this hotel because of what was included, parking, breakfast, and it's close proximity to malls etc. The room was a good size, queen size bed and pillows were very comfortable. Mini fridge available, flat screen tv, in house menu to order from the restaurant. Breakfast was great, hot foods, eggs home fries, sausages, hot cereal, etc. fresh fruit and all the fixings. If you did not see it, just ask the staff. There is also a gym available. There is a restaurant with a lounge, nice decor, comfortable seating. We took pictures outside, the decor was photogenic, very nice background. I would fully recommend this hotel for any length of stay.

Stayed here on our trip to 1000 Islands. Was excited to see they had Fantasy Suites--always wanted to stay in one. We had Tranquility Base--a space lunar lander. Room was fantastic! So realistic looking. Great touch was the sparkling wine and chocolate strawberries waiting by our door. Really enjoyed our stay!

I must admit that I don't typically stay at Best Western, but it was quite literally the only hotel in town with space at 01h00 in the morning as we drove down the 401, so my wife, daughter and I checked in for a very short stay. It was quite overpriced, but that is what happens when you get the last room in a city. Our stay was short, only about 8 hours but the room was surprisingly charming. The decor was different than most hotels and had an old home feel to it. The breakfast was good, although there were no seats in the dining room so we had to sit in a bar across the lobby which was actually probably much more comfortable. We didn't like the animal heads on the walls when we were trying to eat.. My wife and daughter had a difficult time keeping their food down staring at these wall fixtures. Staff was friendly, room was clean. Can't see myself ever going back, however that is more to do with my own personal schedule and travel habits, but for the one night we needed it, things were fine. There was no elevator which was not pleasant dragging baggage up flights of stairs.

This hotel provides all amenities, great dining, and reliable free parking. While not in the center of town, everything is within easy driving distance. We prefer the location from the standpoint that downtown can be noisy. Front desk staff were most helpful and polite. We've stayed in several rooms over the years and all have been most comfortable.

This place was just perfect we stayed here three days to tour around the area and sure glad we stayed here room was nice size with two queens beds fireplace pull up couch table we really like the fact they had two restaurants and a outdoor pool made it very nice after exploring all day you just could seat back and relax the rest of the day without worrying about going out to dinner everything right there and also the free breakfast witch was perfect. We will definitely be back again thanks

Our family of four plus our lab mix dog really en;joyed our single night stay. We were en route from Chicago to Maine. The staff was very friendly. We stayed in a two double bed room with fire place and it also had a seating area with a love seat, coffee table, and the fireplace. The hotel was clean, the pool clean, the lounge friendly and food good. The breakfast was filling and served in their restaurant so it was a nice location too. We would have stayed longer if we were staying in the area rather than simply passing through.

"Not great" because it is a bit dated, though maybe in Canada the fantasy rooms work, as well as the stuffed animals in the regular restaurant. The room was a great size, and everything was clean and worked well. The staff members were efficient and pleasant. The pool needs a little help, and I guess so does the entire property. It seems like it needs an upgrade.

We stayed at this BW over the August long weekend which is a busy time for a hotel. However, the staff remained friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was well done with something for every morning appetite. We tried the restaurant one night and the food was good with fast efficient service.

Whether you try one of the fantasy rooms or not... this is a hidden gem..we have stayed in both... it is worth every penny.. the food at both restaurants is wonderful...the staff were very helpful..we had a trying situation this past weekend but they did their very best

There's not much to say about it, i just enjoyed every minute of my stay here. I stayed in the NorthernLights Suit and it was amazing! Staff very friendly, the room was clean, the food was good..... Can't wait t'ill next visit!

Located a few kilometres from the centre of town, this handsome and well-maintained twentieth-century rustic-themed hotel provided for a comfortable and convenient family stay. Perfection eludes it but at the room tariff it would be hard to do better in this part of the country. The good: courteous and efficient from desk. Spacious and well-appointed guest rooms that carry enough of the rustic theme without overkill. Most things expected were there and they all worked as expected. The beds were comfortable, the linens clean and crisp and we were all able to find pillows that worked for us. The included wifi worked well on all our devices. Breakfast is a well-serviced, better than average, 3-star chain hotel buffet affair. There's plenty of onsite parking in close proximity to one of the hotel's entries. Our grandchildren enjoyed the (seasonal) outdoor swimming pool. The not so good: we had two rooms and both had very small bathrooms. Indeed, a couple square metres of the commodious guestrooms could easily have been donated to the bathrooms with no loss of amenity to the former and to the considerable advantage of the latter. Unoccupied power outlets are at a considerable premium in the rooms so expect to queue up your devices for charging. There was no microwave in either room and the device provided to boil water was infinitely more complex and considerably inferior to a simple kettle – which the hotel apparently could not supply.

Over many years I have made the BEST WESTERN FIRESIDE INN my home away from home in Eastern Ontario. I travel a great deal on business. The team here are genuinely coordinated and savvy about customer service, seamless care, and quality.

Excellent experience, check-in / check-out was very professional. As other reviewers have mentioned the rooms are a little small; however, cozy especially with the fire place in the room. They have a wood lodge atmosphere to them (some people describe this as kitchy). Complimentary hot breakfast was nice (could have had more offerings). Great location off the 401 and situated well for the downtown Kingston attractions.

Stayed overnight, had a lovely large room, couch to sit on, computer desk, lovely bed. Clean, impressive, great staff, great breakfast, my only wish was a sweet pastry. Handicapped book first floor!!!

Good location off highway for stopping through. While the lodge style was kitschy and I imagine fun for kids, all the stuff animal head 'trophies' in the bar/restaurant were off-putting to me. It was also in need of renovations, things seemed very old and tired and not always in a good way. Our room door's deadbolt lock didn't work and the chain lock seemed ineffective (and slightly broken), so even though the door locked when closed it didn't feel very safe although I'm sure it was fine. The breakfast buffet was excellent and the people working at breakfast were very friendly. We didn't know it when we booked, but there are a few fantasy suites, and one of them is like a NASA moon landing (we saw pictures) and totally out of this world, really I've never seen a hotel room like that before.

This was a good place to stay, however, an elevator to the second floor would have been helpful. The hotel was undergoing some work at the front door, so parts of the front were blocked off, however, the lobby and hotel were fine and there is a restaurant that we found to be excellent. Hotel staff very pleasant and helpful.

The hotel was not luxurious, but it clean, comfortable, and the staff that I encountered were very pleasant and professional. Over all, it is a very acceptable and practical choice for business travel.

It's been a long time since we stayed at a hotel that did not have an elevator, so our second-floor room was a bit of a challenge with our luggage. Our room had a fireplace, which would have been lovely if it weren't July. The decor in the hotel is lodge-like, which is interesting in its own way, but definitely not typical these days. We ate at one of the two restaurants on site and had good food. It seemed that the water temperature in the shower was temperature-controlled, which was not quite hot enough for me but fine for my husband. There is an outdoor pool which is completely surrounded by a fence that is not see-though; we did not visit it. Plenty of parking. Location is not close to the downtown area, but was fine for our needs.

Lovely quaint inn,decor is super cute..rooms are very nicely decorated. Toms Place..located in the Inn is a definite must visit. The food is excellent,the decor is awesome! Staff is very friendly and eager to please. No elevator to the second floor so if carrying luggage upstairs,please ask for first floor room!

This used to be the place to stay in Kingston when you wanted a romantic weekend away . It's now so dated and worn looking ! The price does not reflect this as we payed the premium rate we payed years ago when the decor matched the decade we are in .

It is obvious that this owner loves his hotel. Beautiful flowers in window boxes, watered every morning, fabulous rooms made to be like your home, with bookracks filled with books, and a breakfast room that must compare with one of the best in the world. Attention to detail, friendly service in breakfast room, always a smile on their face. When asked who the friendly person is that runs that part of the hotel, I was told he has been running it for more than 20 years, and the hotel has been owned by the same owner for 40 years. It is obvious in the attention to detail. Also extremely dog friendly. I would not hestitate to recommend this hotel to anyone.

We had a magnificent stay at this hotel recently. The hotel its self is very unique as you can tell by looking at photos of it. I have never seen a best western with this look in the past, and I am very glad we decided to stay. We had booked our stay for 1 night using points and upon arrival the very nice lady at the front desk acknowledged our Diamond Select status immediately and even offered us an upgrade to one of their fantasy suites, which was shocking as I almost never receive anything at Best Western hotels, if they acknowledge it at all. So a special thank you to her, you really made our stay. I wish I had her name to mention here. We chose the "Flight Of Fantasy" room as my girlfriend really liked the look of the bed. You enter a special key-card required area to get to the fantasy suites which felt special to begin with. Once we finally found our room we couldn't believe how incredible it looked, the air balloon bed was huge, from the floor to the ceiling. The room had 2 levels with stairs and a fireplace half way up. The upstairs had a couch, a sauna, and a big hot tub. The room was much better than it looked in the photos. The room was a bit dated which is something I have read in other reviews but it does add to the feel of the hotel. Usually I would say it is a negative but in this case I guess I liked it. We didn't receive any chocolate covered strawberries or sparkling wine as other have said they received but that may have just been because we were upgraded, I'm not sure. We will definitely come back to this Best Western and try a different suite next time.

Short and simple. My wife and i stayed at the Best Western Fireside Inn for 2 days. Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Quiet. Nice outdoor pool. This came in handy as the temps. were in the 30's. Good breakfast...included. A 5 to 10 minute drive to the waterfront (downtown). Hotel is a bit dated. Bathrooms are on the smaller side. If ever in Kingston we would stay here without hesitation.

We unknowingly booked the outer space room in the fantasy suite section of the hotel. Aka "Tranquility Base". I thought it was a spa theme haha Anyways, it was so legit and creative; I think kids would love it. Or a even an adult space fan. The room was huge (2 stories) it was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was a little dated but fine over all. Staff was super friendly and helpful. I enjoyed dinner and breakfast at Bistro Stefan, well done I think. Definitely a stay I'll always remember and for good reasons only. Thank you!

Stayed here not long ago, very large room, overlooking a lovely pool, friendly and helpful staff, near to station and airport and not far from downtown, Wonderful breakfast included in price, although evening meal was a let down and expensive.

I stayed one night at this hotel recently, it is only a few kilometres from the Kingston Via Train Station. The hotel is a bit dated and the room had a bit of kitschy grandmother's basement vibe, but it was still very nice and comfortable. There was fireplace in the room, which gave a nice ambience on a the cool evening, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable. The was a sofa and coffee table in the room which made relaxing by the fireplace very easy. There was nice selection for breakfast, it was tasty and the staff were very friendly. I would consider staying in this hotel again, should I find myself in need of an overnight place to stay in Kingston.

We found Fireside to be an excellent choice for BW. The checkin was fast and efficient. The checkin person was very friendly and helpful. She spent time going over the interesting points in Kingston and helped us determine the best sights to see. Our room was excellent and spacious. Plenty of towels and the bed was very good. We would highly recommend this inn.

Quite disappointed in our stay this time. We have stayed at the Fireside Inn on numerous occasions and it certainly isn't what it used to be by any means. Everything now is on the cheap. Two towels. Only enough coffee in the room for one cup of coffee each for two people. No extra blankets. Extremely poor selection of television stations and not high definition. Basic cable package. Breakfast included. Glasses for orange juice and water were the size of shot glasses. Poor selection of bread for toast. Small bowls for fruit salad. Cream for coffee tasted like condensed milk. Coffee was terrible. Added $100.00 charge onto credit cards for incidentals without informing us verbally at checkin or in confirmation email. Not sure I will be going back. Too expensive for what you are receiving.

This is our second time staying at a Best Western and we were not disappointed. Check in was efficient and staff is friendly. There are only 2 floors in this hotel. When I saw it from the outside I thought it was a motel. I was pleasantly surprised. We stayed on the second floor. There are no elevators so if you have mobility issues than your best to stay on the first floor. The whirlpools suites are on that floor. We got 2 keys to our door and you just tap them and they automatically worked. Better than the swiping version. Our room was clean and we stayed in the east entrance. There is an ice machine and vending machine on the floor as well as an exercise room. There is also an outdoor pool which opens at 9 and you need you room key to get in. I have no complaints about my room. I liked the wooden crown moulding and wooden wainscoting and all the wooden furniture. It had a cozy cottage feel. Our room also came with a fireplace. The tv was huge. We had 2 phones in our room, lots of lamps. There was a coffee/tea station and they put the 4 creamers in the fridge. We got an ice bucket. I like the night light on the floor. The bathroom had a feature that I never had before - a heat lamp in the ceiling. It keeps the bathroom a little warmer. The tub/shower was easy to get in and out of. Skid free and a dual shower head. Plus a shower curtain where you can see through on the top. Lots of shelfs in the bathroom. And a fan. I have stayed at 5 star hotels that weren't as nice as this room. There is no room service. And I would have liked the body towels instead of the medium towels and a bottle of water. Those are just suggestions. I can live without it. There is free wifi and complimentary full breakfast. Parking is free. This hotel has two restaurants, Tom's place and Bistro Stefan. The breakfast buffet is in the Bistro Stefan. I would definitely stay here again and I totally recommend this hotel.

We spent 2 nights at this hotel in a very large clean room with lovely fireplace, comfortable bed, friendly and helpful staff and two amazing restaurants (a pub and a bistro). There is no need to leave the property to eat, as both restaurants have great food! The breakfast buffet is included and the parking is free, which is always a bonus. While it's located on a main street, it is very quiet with no traffic noise. It also has a lovely outdoor pool and patio area. Except for a detour due to construction, it's very close and easy to get to downtown Kingston. We would definitely stay here again.

Spent 2 nights at the Fireside in Kingston for work. Spacious room, comfortable beds, good sized outdoor heated pool, 2 great restaurants on site (had dinner at the Bistro and was sooooo good) but the best part of the stay was the staff - so helpful, welcoming and accommodating.

We stayed here several years ago and not much has changed. Reception was friendly and helpful and were aware of our last stay and gave us the same room, that is service. The room was clean, spacious with a whirlpool bath adjacent to the lounge area with a separate bathroom and w/c with the bedroom separated to the rest of the room. It is a very quiet hotel with no traffic noise that we were aware of and conveniently located for local attractions. With two restaurants attached, you have everything you need. there is a first class breakfast served in Stefan Bistro, which is probably one of the best we have had. We would always stay here when visiting Kingston.

Loved this hotel. Four poster bed and a fireplace. Restaurant was very unique and food was excellent. Staff were friendly be and very personable. We're planning on coming back and will stay at least two nights.

Stayed one night in a king room bed was firm and comfortable. Had dinner in the bistro had the guest special rib steak cooked nicely ceasar salad was outstanding and all for an adorable price. Complimentary Breakfast in the morning was perfect. This was our 3rd time starting here would return for a 4th.

A must visit place with deep root in the Canadian culture which has a lot to offer. Great location, country style environment, great service and hospitality. Great service, clean rooms and best value for dollar.

After a long deliberation on where to eat on our only night in Kingston we picked the Fireside Inn. It looked lovely with interesting decor of a log cabin. I was then surprised at the meal of fish and chips. I substituted the fries for a caesar salad that was made up all outside leaves, no bacon, tiny croutons and too much dressing. I informed the server and they gladly gave me a tossed salad. No better. Again, all outside tough leaves. I doubt we will back that way again. We did not stay there in a room.

In general the experience was OK. It's an old 3 star off the road motel. It has two long wings and two stories. If you have heavy luggage insist for the ground floor. There is no elevator and no one to help with your suitcases. Breakfast is basic, but better than chain hotels breakfast in the USA. They name it "Fireside Inn" and in many posts there is a fireside seen in every room. In fact It is an electrical fake fireside that produces no fire and no heat. It works on a timer that stops every 60 minutes and totally off when the lights are off. Rooms are renovated but some furniture will remind you of your grandparents old closet. Staff is friendly and helpful. Restaurants are nice and good, and as a matter of fact I had one of the best steaks I ate in my life.

Very clean room. Room had a fireplace and a sofa. Enjoyed the ambiance of the fireplace and the look with the brick wall. Costs $14 (including tip) to take a cab to the waterfront. Friendly front desk staff. Breakfast buffet has a nice selection.

Super clean room and we enjoyed having coffee on the deck prior to our wine tour. The complimentary breakfast is amazing! The muffins were out of this world and it was great to have the option of fresh waffles.

We stayed there for one night, the room was very nice, with a fireplace and a fridge. Nice and clean and quiet, a bit far from downtown but easily accessible by car. Breakfast was included and was composed of the usual : scrambled eggs, sausages, toast, bagel, waffles, cereal and some fruit. Nothing out of the ordinary but quite decent.

This is our go to place in Kingston. Easy access from the 401 and easy access to downtown if you want. Quiet and clean rooms and comfy beds. Toms place is a great resto/bar to have a drink and supper. No complaints!

Have stayed at the Best Western Fireside for many years and have always been extremely satisfied. We particularly like the ambiance and convenience of Tom's Place. Perfect for a late afternoon drink or a dinner. Excellent steak and fries.

The room were well appointed and very comfortable. The staff were friendly and I would definitely pick the Best Western next time I am in Kingston. The breakfast buffet was excellent and added real value to the visit.

Hotel is well situated to get to all parts of city easily. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Restaurants offer better than average food. Decor is a little dated, but very clean and comfortable.

I was very happy with my stay here. Comfortable bed. Nice fireplace in the room. Room was larger than expected. Breakfast was great. Had dinner in the restaurant; it was good. I will be staying here again next time I am in Kingston.

Very nice old fashion hotel with renovated rooms. You will find small book shelf with old books that you could read near the fireplace. I am sure that breakfast with service you will enjoy, try it. In this hotel located 2 restaurants. One is Tom's Place, old fashion decoration with real wood big fireplace, very good service and big bar. Ask about favourite meal. Each day they preparing special plate for the guests. Second place is Bistro Stefan, classic restaurant with very good service. I would like to refer to visit both side. You will like it. Thanks to all staff that doing work fast, clear and always ready to answer to any your question with real smile. They enjoying what they are doing and they looks happy, as one big family.

This quaint lodge like Inn, is the perfect place to relax with all necessary amenities you could need for a short stay. The onsite Pub is cozy and inviting, great food and menu options. The Fireplace is a lovely added touch with 4 poster King beds should you choose this room. Easy and accessible parking, close to rooms and free breakfast in the morning.

We stayed near the east entrance so straight in to our room, no stairs, close to the parking lot. Quiet, comfortable and a fireplace in every room. We were a 10 minute drive from Hotel Dieu and only 15 minutes from KGH. Friendly helpful staff, from the front desk to housekeeping to the breakfast and lounge staff. Lots of lights, great shower with 2 heads (like standing in the rain). Shower curtain on an oval track so, although the tub is small, there is plenty of room to wash without being impeded by a clingy curtain. Exhaust fan, heat lamp and shaving/make-up mirror that shows every flaw. Towels were soft and cushy. Great smelling shampoo, soaps etc. Comfortable loveseat across from the fireplace and well-lit desk with office chair. Good size TV. Beds were comfortable with lots of pillows.

We quite enjoyed our hotel stay, but the restaurant experience left a lot to be desired. Pool quality food and inexperienced service. One meal was very good, the other was disgusting. When we identified the problem the server was oblivious to the problem, replaced the meal but did nothing to correct one person having a meal and the other not. She did little to correct the situation. We will not go to the restaurant again.

The staff was excellent to deal with on check in the girl was extremely helpful,the food was excellent,we left our cell phone in the room and the staff went out of there way to go back to the room and locate it for us. we will definitely be staying at this location again . definitely a 5 star rating

For a great time: Room, Refreshment, Relaxation you can't beat the Fireside!! The Renaissance suite with double shower, double whirlpool was a romantic space to recharge. Dinner at Stefan's Bistro was awesome as usual and the top drawer service provided by Bruce was a highlight to the meal...oh, and the creme brulee!! A peaceful night and then the fantastic complimentary breakfast is which second to none anywhere, not even off the menu breakfasts...because I have had them all!

At the 5 locations I have stayed this year, Fireside Inn currently ranks number one. I look forward to coming back and trying one of their fantasy rooms. What made the experience most enjoyable was the location in the city of Kingston and the dining experience I had for breakfast and their special Surf and Turf I had my first evening there.

Pleasant surprise .. rooms good, bed comfortable, hotel was quiet, which we enjoyed. Pub great decor... Restaurant was fabulous - best Caesar salad I've ever had, prime rib cooked to perfection. Mike the chef cane to table ... would go back.

From the moment I seen the website I knew this was the place to stay. A fireplace in every room! Extremely clean rooms, free parking and a hot breakfast buffet which had plenty to choose from. The staff are friendly and the bar/lounge is very cozy with lots to see and again a nice fire to enjoy!!

Wonderful place, felt like we stayed at a cabin in the woods. Clean rooms that are nicely laid out, beds are comfortable, pillows could be better, but we still slept fairly well. The continental breakfast was excellent. Happy, friendly, yet professional service. We docked a point because the lounge food wasn't that great for the price we paid, although it's highly possible if we'd ordered something else it may have been better. We liked the hotel so much we stayed again on our return trip. Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place to stay while in Kingston.

They recognized us as Diamond Members and upgraded our room to a suite. It was very nice and had a lodge feeling. Breakfast was included which was very good and appreciated the atmosphere in the dining room.

Admittedly I haven't stayed at Best Western in years if ever, I didn't plan it that way but most of my reviews are from Marriot based hotels or La Quinta. It's actually been a long time that I stayed at another chain, mostly because for work they book at other chains so I review those locations. This time I had to be in Canada on my own accord to fix an antique speaker up in Kingston, ON. A friend of mine and I had to keep switching dates to meet so I had to get a room of Priceline so they chose this hotel. I don't like to book through third parties as the chain's website is often a better deal nowadays. The days of deals on the internet are gone and I feel the share the same databases. I didn't have a choice as hockey tournaments were going on and everything was booked. At any rate I drove up to Kingston, ON this past Friday 3/23/2018. I got to the hotel and parked in the East entrance. There is a West entrance also but it is because of the way the hotel is designed. The guest attendant was great and she suggested I sign up for the rewards program. I always do this as the benefits can be good. I got room 229 on the second floor with room keys and breakfast vouchers. I walked through a maze of corridors and found my room. The hotel is 45 years old and the hallways are tight. The first thing I noticed as the hotel probably had a makeover at some point. Things looked pristine. One thing to note is how clean everything was. I have stayed at a lot of hotels and this was a great thing to see. The rooms are small and tight also but laid out in such a way that it works for what it is. The fireplace is a nice touch. I had one problem, an alarm kept going off and I thought it was the TV. It was the room's safe that was indicating batteries needed to be changed. Someone from downstairs came up and replaced them. It wasn't a problem or anyone's fault. I didn't need it anyway but they were very attentive. I had to leave to go so I didn't stay in the hotel hardly at all. The bathroom facility in the room was pristine as well. It felt a little cramped but given the age and the kind of place it is I took that into account. There was a coffee make, soap, toiletries and the complimentary towels also. The shower had a cool attachment for dispersing the water. The temperature for showering was perfect. The bed was very well made with a refrigerator in the room also. I slept well for the 6 hours I got to sleep. It was quiet but I had to be up at 6 the next morning to go to my friends place. I didn't get to experience Tom's place or the free Buffet as it was a shotgun trip up and back so I can't comment on those places. I also didn't work out in the exercise room but it was open on the second floor. I checked out at 6:30 AM on 3/24/2018. Since I couldn't use the vouchers (bistro opens a 7 AM on the weekends) the attendant packed me bottled water, a banana and a granola bar. That was a nice touch. After reading reviews here is looked as people had similar experiences. As I said I wasn't there that long and I didn't get to experience all of the facility but for what I was there for it was great. It almost reminded me of traveling in the 70's with my parents in Canada and those are some of my best memories so staying here reminded me of that. I hope the management/staff can keep up the good work in this competitive time in the travel business.

Stayed in the space theme suite. AWESOME THERE WAS A ROCKETSHIP AND COOL LIGHTS AND A HOTTUB AND A SAUNA ALL IN YOUR ROOM! it is a must. Would love to go back but with a group of friends. Only complaint is there was a huge hornet in our room attacking us and then a huge spider in the bathroom. Also there were no windows in our room. I know there were no windows to keep the space theme but there should be the option to open a window so you can look outside.
