Super clean room and we enjoyed having coffee on the deck prior to our wine tour. The complimentary breakfast is amazing! The muffins were out of this world and it was great to have the option of fresh waffles.

    « Very nice hotel »

We stayed there for one night, the room was very nice, with a fireplace and a fridge. Nice and clean and quiet, a bit far from downtown but easily accessible by car. Breakfast was included and was composed of the usual : scrambled eggs, sausages, toast, bagel, waffles, cereal and some fruit. Nothing out of the ordinary but quite decent.

    « Great spot »

This is our go to place in Kingston. Easy access from the 401 and easy access to downtown if you want. Quiet and clean rooms and comfy beds. Toms place is a great resto/bar to have a drink and supper. No complaints!

    « Perfect for a long weekend »

Have stayed at the Best Western Fireside for many years and have always been extremely satisfied. We particularly like the ambiance and convenience of Tom's Place. Perfect for a late afternoon drink or a dinner. Excellent steak and fries.

« Great place to stay in Kingston »

The room were well appointed and very comfortable. The staff were friendly and I would definitely pick the Best Western next time I am in Kingston. The breakfast buffet was excellent and added real value to the visit.

« always a pleasure to stay here »

The staff and the stay are always a pleasure. I have a choice to stay anywhere and I choose. The fireside is quaint, quiet and not the generic clinical hotel room that I see as a business traveller. I enjoy

« Good value, convenient location »

Hotel is well situated to get to all parts of city easily. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Restaurants offer better than average food. Decor is a little dated, but very clean and comfortable.

« Very nice staff and perfect services. »

Very nice old fashion hotel with renovated rooms. You will find small book shelf with old books that you could read near the fireplace. I am sure that breakfast with service you will enjoy, try it. In this hotel located 2 restaurants. One is Tom's Place, old fashion decoration with real wood big fireplace, very good service and big bar. Ask about favourite meal. Each day they preparing special plate for the guests. Second place is Bistro Stefan, classic restaurant with very good service. I would like to refer to visit both side. You will like it. Thanks to all staff that doing work fast, clear and always ready to answer to any your question with real smile. They enjoying what they are doing and they looks happy, as one big family.

« Fireplace Ambiance at Fireside Inn »

This quaint lodge like Inn, is the perfect place to relax with all necessary amenities you could need for a short stay. The onsite Pub is cozy and inviting, great food and menu options. The Fireplace is a lovely added touch with 4 poster King beds should you choose this room. Easy and accessible parking, close to rooms and free breakfast in the morning.

« comfortable accommodation, clean, close to medical facilities »

We stayed near the east entrance so straight in to our room, no stairs, close to the parking lot. Quiet, comfortable and a fireplace in every room. We were a 10 minute drive from Hotel Dieu and only 15 minutes from KGH. Friendly helpful staff, from the front desk to housekeeping to the breakfast and lounge staff. Lots of lights, great shower with 2 heads (like standing in the rain). Shower curtain on an oval track so, although the tub is small, there is plenty of room to wash without being impeded by a clingy curtain. Exhaust fan, heat lamp and shaving/make-up mirror that shows every flaw. Towels were soft and cushy. Great smelling shampoo, soaps etc. Comfortable loveseat across from the fireplace and well-lit desk with office chair. Good size TV. Beds were comfortable with lots of pillows.

« Hotel - Very Good - The Restaurant - Not So Much »

We quite enjoyed our hotel stay, but the restaurant experience left a lot to be desired. Pool quality food and inexperienced service. One meal was very good, the other was disgusting. When we identified the problem the server was oblivious to the problem, replaced the meal but did nothing to correct one person having a meal and the other not. She did little to correct the situation. We will not go to the restaurant again.

    « Excellent Stay »

The staff was excellent to deal with on check in the girl was extremely helpful, the food was excellent,we left our cell phone in the room and the staff went out of there way to go back to the room and locate it for us. we will definitely be staying at this location again . definitely a 5 star rating

    « R&R&R&R&R »

For a great time: Room, Refreshment, Relaxation you can't beat the Fireside!! The Renaissance suite with double shower, double whirlpool was a romantic space to recharge. Dinner at Stefan's Bistro was awesome as usual and the top drawer service provided by Bruce was a highlight to the meal...oh, and the creme brulee!! A peaceful night and then the fantastic complimentary breakfast is which second to none anywhere, not even off the menu breakfasts...because I have had them all!

    « Fireside Inn »

At the 5 locations I have stayed this year, Fireside Inn currently ranks number one. I look forward to coming back and trying one of their fantasy rooms. What made the experience most enjoyable was the location in the city of Kingston and the dining experience I had for breakfast and their special Surf and Turf I had my first evening there.

« Great stay great restaurant »

Pleasant surprise .. rooms good, bed comfortable, hotel was quiet, which we enjoyed. Pub great decor... Restaurant was fabulous - best Caesar salad I've ever had, prime rib cooked to perfection. Mike the chef cane to table ... would go back.

    « Great value! »

Good quality. Excellent value for family stay. Cozy hotel with good service. No extra parking or other fees. Decor is dated, but comfortable rooms, beds, and atmosphere. Breakfast and service was good.

« Home away from Home. »

Traveling for work puts me here very frequently. The whole crew, from the front desk to the maintenance staff, make this my favorite hotel. The restaurants are fantastic with multiple choices. The complimentary breakfast is great. Amazing job. Thanks again!

« Going Back For Sure! »

From the moment I seen the website I knew this was the place to stay. A fireplace in every room! Extremely clean rooms, free parking and a hot breakfast buffet which had plenty to choose from. The staff are friendly and the bar/lounge is very cozy with lots to see and again a nice fire to enjoy!!

    « We'll be back »

Wonderful place, felt like we stayed at a cabin in the woods. Clean rooms that are nicely laid out, beds are comfortable, pillows could be better, but we still slept fairly well. The continental breakfast was excellent. Happy, friendly, yet professional service. We docked a point because the lounge food wasn't that great for the price we paid, although it's highly possible if we'd ordered something else it may have been better. We liked the hotel so much we stayed again on our return trip. Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place to stay while in Kingston.

« Overnight stop in Kingston on our way to Ottawa »

They recognized us as Diamond Members and upgraded our room to a suite. It was very nice and had a lodge feeling. Breakfast was included which was very good and appreciated the atmosphere in the dining room.

« Best of the Best »

Admittedly I haven't stayed at Best Western in years if ever, I didn't plan it that way but most of my reviews are from Marriot based hotels or La Quinta. It's actually been a long time that I stayed at another chain, mostly because for work they book at other chains so I review those locations. This time I had to be in Canada on my own accord to fix an antique speaker up in Kingston, ON. A friend of mine and I had to keep switching dates to meet so I had to get a room of Priceline so they chose this hotel. I don't like to book through third parties as the chain's website is often a better deal nowadays. The days of deals on the internet are gone and I feel the share the same databases. I didn't have a choice as hockey tournaments were going on and everything was booked. At any rate I drove up to Kingston, ON this past Friday 3/23/2018. I got to the hotel and parked in the East entrance. There is a West entrance also but it is because of the way the hotel is designed. The guest attendant was great and she suggested I sign up for the rewards program. I always do this as the benefits can be good. I got room 229 on the second floor with room keys and breakfast vouchers. I walked through a maze of corridors and found my room. The hotel is 45 years old and the hallways are tight. The first thing I noticed as the hotel probably had a makeover at some point. Things looked pristine. One thing to note is how clean everything was. I have stayed at a lot of hotels and this was a great thing to see. The rooms are small and tight also but laid out in such a way that it works for what it is. The fireplace is a nice touch. I had one problem, an alarm kept going off and I thought it was the TV. It was the room's safe that was indicating batteries needed to be changed. Someone from downstairs came up and replaced them. It wasn't a problem or anyone's fault. I didn't need it anyway but they were very attentive. I had to leave to go so I didn't stay in the hotel hardly at all. The bathroom facility in the room was pristine as well. It felt a little cramped but given the age and the kind of place it is I took that into account. There was a coffee make, soap, toiletries and the complimentary towels also. The shower had a cool attachment for dispersing the water. The temperature for showering was perfect. The bed was very well made with a refrigerator in the room also. I slept well for the 6 hours I got to sleep. It was quiet but I had to be up at 6 the next morning to go to my friends place. I didn't get to experience Tom's place or the free Buffet as it was a shotgun trip up and back so I can't comment on those places. I also didn't work out in the exercise room but it was open on the second floor. I checked out at 6:30 AM on 3/24/2018. Since I couldn't use the vouchers (bistro opens a 7 AM on the weekends) the attendant packed me bottled water, a banana and a granola bar. That was a nice touch. After reading reviews here is looked as people had similar experiences. As I said I wasn't there that long and I didn't get to experience all of the facility but for what I was there for it was great. It almost reminded me of traveling in the 70's with my parents in Canada and those are some of my best memories so staying here reminded me of that. I hope the management/staff can keep up the good work in this competitive time in the travel business.

    « Awesome »

Stayed in the space theme suite. AWESOME THERE WAS A ROCKETSHIP AND COOL LIGHTS AND A HOTTUB AND A SAUNA ALL IN YOUR ROOM! it is a must. Would love to go back but with a group of friends. Only complaint is there was a huge hornet in our room attacking us and then a huge spider in the bathroom. Also there were no windows in our room. I know there were no windows to keep the space theme but there should be the option to open a window so you can look outside.

    « Great stay »

Very nice hotel with great service and accommodations. Breakfast was included each morning, which was great. Staff is very friendly and hotel was very clean and maintained. Free parking was also a bonus.

    « A great getaway »

We spent 2 nights in March at the Fireside and really enjoyed it. The hotel has been there a long time but they have kept it in really good shape. We had the kingsize with fireplace (it's a fake fireplace). The bed was really comfortable but if you stay in some of the more modern hotels, you will find the bathroom quite tiny. The hotel is quiet, clean and well managed. The staff were all very happy to serve. The free breakfast is a great deal... it's a hot buffet and not the continental that most hotels provide. There's something for everyone whether you want to eat healthy or load up on waffles and sausage. My one suggestion is that since this is more of an "in room" getaway that the TV packages should be updated. The channel selection is limited and there are no Hi Def channels. The TVs are flat screen but they could be updated and larger. We enjoy a movie or two on our vacations but the picture quality and selection I would rate as fair. The location requires a car if you are looking to shop or explore some city restaurants. We did not try dinner at Tom's or the Bistro. Tom's looks like a cozy bar atmosphere. We will return to this hotel. A great place for R & R and great value for your $.

    « Amazing! »

« Friendly staff and well maintained hotel »

We have stayed here twice during the past year. While it is an older hotel, it is well maintained and rooms have been upgraded. Both times we stayed we had a fireplace in our room which is a nice touch. And breakfast is included which is nice. The staff are very friendly.

    5
    « Comforts of home! »

We stayed for just one night in a standard room which offered an old style decor of comfort which felt like home. The bed offered an extremely comfortable sleep and in the morning you are greeted with a yummy breakfast buffet with lots of options for everyone. I would definitely recommend and would definitely return!

« Good place for a stopover in Kingston »

This hotel was a good place for a one night stop over in Kingston. The room was well kept, the staff were friendly, the WIFI worked well and the breakfast was fine. The hotel fully met our expectations.

    « Awesome Experience »

This is a beautiful Inn and one of the best I have ever stayed in. As you walk in the front door there are two restaurants one on each side of the desk and the smells were outstanding. This Inn has a very rustic feel about it which was a complete surprise and a very welcome one at that. Our room was beautiful, the beds were perfect and the ambience was terrific. Staff was excellent and very accommodating. I will make this my #1 Choice if I ever need another place to stay in Kingston. I highly recommend this Inn.

    « Lovely, spacious room »

Check in/out was fast & easy. Our room was very spacious. The fireplace was a nice bonus, especially in February. The bathroom is small (leaving more room in the living space) but is adequate. Breakfast was nice, although could have been hotter. Eggs, ham, sausage, hash browns, breads/muffins, waffles, juice & fruit. Good service. We also ate dinner at Tom's place which was fast & tasty.

    « Homey Hotel »

When we come from Switzerland to make family visit to Kingston this is a very good choice for us. Nice room with fireplace, in restaurant for Breakfest, very friendly staff! However, the staff at the front desk rather ?dry' and not especially friendly. The Manager, however, again very friendly and helpful. The ?Bistro Stefan' has just been renovated, but we look forward on the next time and then try this kitchen. We will be back.......????????

Was an experience to remember will definitely be back to try another fantasy room !! Great service amazing hotel restaurant has great pub food !! Spending a night on the moon was absolutely amazing will be back to experience again !!

    « A great night away! »

One of my favourite one night mini-vacations is to Kingston, ON...more specifically to the BW Fireside Inn. While it is a bit outdated in some ways, it more than makes up this in friendly courteous service and some amazing facilities. While costly, I certainly recommend you try the Fantasy Suites for a different experience. For the 2nd time, we stayed in the Tranquility Base suite...and excuse the pun, it truly is out of this world! The bed is a space capsule, there is a space man floating from the ceiling (no red Tesla, sorry), a moon-pool hot tub and a beautiful bathroom. They have upgraded the room with home theatre style chairs for the tv-holics among us, and the room includes all the main features like hair dryer, safe, mini fridge...and of course, welcoming chocolate covered strawberries and sparkling wine. Breakfast is included with the room...it used to be you could book a time and breakfast would be delivered to your room but they have now changed that to a buffet breakfast (which was nothing to write home about but sufficient) in the restaurant. To make up for that very slight inconvenience, you receive a $20 voucher to be used in the restaurant (Bistro Stephan) or wonderfully relaxed and intimate bar/pub called Toms Place, our favourite. For your information, regular rooms are fine (but a bit dated), whirlpool rooms are nice (with their 4 poster beds), and other Fantasy Suites include Flights of Fantasy, Suzy Wong Suite, Lords and Ladies Suite, and Northern Lights. There is an outdoor pool for summer use. All in all, a great night away with a special someone...and yes, I will be back!

« Blast from the past. »

We stayed at this hotel on a stormy night in January on the way to Toronto. We wanted some comfort so we asked for a room with a jetted tub and try put us in one of the suites. The room came with a bottle of bubbly and a few of the best chocolate covered strawberries I've ever had. The suite was well appointed with a small sitting area in the front with a fireplace and 2 person jetted tub. The bathroom was large with a nice glass stand alone shower. There was a separate bedroom in the back of the suite. Overall an exceptionally clean room that looked like it was decorated in 1985. Hilarious! The breakfast buffet in the morning was the best I've ever had included in the price of the room. They have a bunch of other theme suites too. One for space travel and one with a vintage car. Weird and wonderful.

    4
« Would definitely come back »

Great rooms. They were large. We didn't use the fireplace. The room was already so warm. Great restaurant and bar. Great service. The only thing is I wished they had a vendor machine for some late night snacks. But other than that it was a great time.

    4
« On the edge of towwn »

We chose this hotel because it was near the station but it was a bus ride away. As it was raining and we were tired, we got a cab which was quite reasonably priced. There is a retail park nearby but it is quite a way from the centre of town. There hotel was fine for the price and the breakfast was ok.

    3
« Past due for an update »

I have stayed at this hotel in the past, but never realized how dated the decor is. Rooms were clean, but dark and dreary. All the surfaces, trim, paint, wallpaper seemed to have been a poor DIY job. I use another Best Western Plus hotel in London Ontario for work related events and there is no comparison in every way. I am seriously surprised that this hotel rated as a Plus facility. Breakfast was included and the dining room was nice for that purpose. I was warned in advance that there would be no meals served on the days I stayed as it was during the Christmas holidays and that notice was appreciated. Hallways were very narrow to the point that the housekeeping staff have to move thei carts into a room if someone is trying to get by. In general the room was comfortable but a refresh on everything is long overdue in my opinion.

    5
    « Clean, good value »

A good value hotel with excellent customer service from the front desk. The room was spacious and clean. The exercise room was small but had all I needed- only disappointed it didn't open prior to 6am. Good buffet breakfast with lots to choose from.

« This hotel will violate your personal privacy! »

Best Western Fireside Inn released my private information to a third party without any consent form. When I've asked for information as to why they released this information they've ignored all requests thus far and aren't being accountable for their breach. If you want your private information released without any regard this is the place to stay; otherwise I'd find another hotel!

« Great Room Great Service »

The hotel looks nice and cozy from the outside with a country charm. Inside the lobby you feel like you are in a cottage setting. The front desk was friendly quick and efficient. The room was a nice size with a fireplace in it. You feel that you are not in the city but in the country. The washroom was a nice size with a double shower head. The room was cleaned and beds made everyday. Breakfast was warm and cold food with a real fire in the fireplace. They had eggs ,scrambled eggs, ham ,sausages and potatoes for the hot food and your usual cold food. Highly recommend this hotel and will stay again. Had a large amount of snow overnight and by 6:30 in the morning most of the parking lot was plowed. This made it easy to get out.

« Don't eat or stay here! Under renovation. »

Hotel main restaurant is currently under renovation. We were not told this at the time of our reservation. Food in the bar area is not a proper dinner. Breakfast the next morning is makeshift in the bar area. Proper power source to maintain food at an acceptable temperature for Public Health was not operational. Food was cold, staff struggled to try and correct the power problem, but were unsuccessful before we had to leave.

« Unique place to stay in Kingston! »

While planning a visit to Kingston, the Best Western Fireside Inn appeared as one of the top rated hotels in the area. Room rates seemed reasonable, so I checked some reviews before booking, and discovered this hotel has ?fantasy suites'. Never knew such a thing existed! As our visit coincided with our wedding anniversary, I decided to splurge on the Flights of Fantasy suite. It was well worth it - the room was even better than the photos! There's too much to list, but some of the best points included a very comfy bed, with lovely crisp linens, made to look like a hot air balloon. A real stone staircase leading to a cozy fireplace with sitting area. And at the top of the stairs was a living area with a large TV, mini fridge, sink, coffee maker. And a double jacuzzi tub! And a sauna! We especially appreciated the sauna, as it was -25c outside, so we could warm up while enjoying the bubbly and chocolate covered strawberries that were included in our room...Thank you! As others have mentioned, the hotel decor may seem a little dated, but it's so clean and well-maintained, it only added to the charm of our stay. We highly recommend this suite for a unique place to stay in Kingston! And we look forward to returning to the Best Western to stay in some of the other suites.

    « BEAUTIFUL - FRIENDLY - MARVELLOUS »

My wife and I stayed here at the Fireside Inn on an overnight stop en-route to a Toronto Christmas/New Year's visit to family, relatives and friends and this is a most-beautiful hotel. It has a very precious antique/heritage atmosphere. Everything here is a must for anyone looking to stay at a hotel in Kingston, Ontario. Hopefully this 1,000,000% satisfaction comment will bring them more business! Keep up the wonderful work.

    « A Great Stay »

Enjoyed our stay here very much. Lovely, comfortable room, excellent restaurant and Bistro and extremely helpful staff. Great value for the cost and good values in how the place is managed. We would stay here again anytime.

    4
« Excellent hot breakfast and quaint decor »

This hotel provides much better quality and variety of hot breakfast items than most hotels. Fireplace rooms with pine furniture provides cozy ski lodge type feel. Hotel is 2 minutes from shopping plaza and 10 minutes from downtown Kingston. Would definitely stay here again as more reasonable rates, free parking and better service than I have experienced at downtown hotels.

    5
« Great food Best hospitatlity »

Amazing service from everyone, from checking in and getting late check out the next day, both the pub and restaurant have excellent food and the service staff are very friendly. You feel like you matter at this hotel. The best customer service I have had in a long time

    « Weird Vibe Overall »

Paper thin walls led us to feel a little to close to our neighbours. Room was decent for a quick night stay, Tom's had decent bar food in an interesting setting. Waitress was nice and helpful, she realized service wasn't on par and offered to pay for our drinks due to it. I appreciate things like that. Our dog barked all night because they put us next to the laundry and we had no idea why he barked so much until we left in the morning. Breakfast buffet was overall odd and if I had to pay 14$ for it I would have been annoyed with the watered down drinks and coffee, poorly presented breakfast items and lack of choices we were disappoint overall. Crappy breakfast with a nice setting. We had an overall odd and awkward stay with a lot of hassle we could have done without after a 10 hour drive. Not worth the money!

    5
    « A pleasant retreat »

Located on busy road yet surprisingly quiet room. Clean and comfortable. Pleasant dining room.. . no annoying television blasting at you as you eat! Great breakfast. Would definitely recommend to others. Courteous and efficient staff too. Convenient parking. Affordable rates, better than most for the quality of stay.

    5
« Cozy, Clean, Great Breakfast »

We stayed the weekend of Christmas. The staff were very pleasant and made us feel welcome. The bathroom was very clean. The electric fireplace gave the room a unique appeal. We had the breakfast buffet twice and both times it was well stocked with fresh food. The kids loved making their own waffles. The rooms were not as sound proof as some other hotels - we could hear hallway traffic and the neighbours bathroom.

    « Great rooms! »

The fantasy rooms were so much fun, and I can't wait to try a different one next time I am there! My check in experience was great, nice friendly knowledgeable staff! Décor is old school and well themed I loved the rustic vibes from the property. Only a 10 minute drive to downtown.

    « Excellence of hotel »

This Best Western is overall one of the best experiences we've had at any hotel and we've travelled all over North America - all US states and all Canadian provinces We also stayed in Hong Kong and Tokyo. The staff was extremely helpful in Kingston.

« Good hotel for the price »

We had a wonderful stay. The Tom's Cabin lounge is awesome as it feels like you are sitting in your living room with a real fireplace roaring. We will stay there again the next time we go to Kingston.

    « Always a great stay! »

I stay here on business monthly. Rooms are clean, staff are friendly and breakfast has many choices!!! A lovely restaurant attached, or an easy relaxing pub to end my work day. The location is great, only 5min off the highway and close to shopping and grocery stores. The fridge in the room is very handy!

« Bed, Bedding & Breakfast is Tops »

Bed and bedding I rate 10/10. Breakfast Included rates 10/10. Nice room fireplace. On-site Restaurant is excellent. Great Staff. Plenty of parking. Small lounge in room is nice. Homey decor with old books is fun. Overall very good.

« Dont go to Tom's place rude cooking staff »

Went to Tom's place for the first time service was good the food not so much. My wife had ordered the veggie burger and I had the prime rib dip. First of all the veggie burger in the menu doesn't say it has a processed veg patty on it so my wife didn't want it. Server was nice enough to ask her if she would like to have something elses so she got the fish & chips. When it came out my wife notice right of the bat it was an out of the box frozen fish, agian processed but gave it a try anyways had two bites no taste just mushy tasteless fish. We talk to the serve asked if it was made in house as expected no comes in pre made and frozen. So she took it away for her so my wife just had sweet fries for supper SAD. After all of this we got the bill and the fish was still on there so she said something to the server and the supervisor took it off the bill. But wait that's not the end when my wife was paying the bill the cook came out and started complaining about us using so very rude language. Me being a kitchen manager for over 5 years I was going to rip a strip out of him before my wife stop me and we just left. If this would have ever happend in a restaurant I work in or managed you would have been fired on the spot for insulting the guest. Will not be going back and what a shame because it's a nice place, relaxing and cozy with a nice open fire place. Sad it was ruined by one loud mouth cook.

    « Warm and Cozy »

If you are looking for a warm and cozy hotel to stay then I would recommend this one. From the time you walk in you feel comfortable. There are two restaurants on site, Tom's Place is open all day if you want a casual lunch or dinner. The Bistro Stefan is open for dinner if you wanted a higher end meal. Both restaurants the meals are excellent and staff very friendly. For breakfast the options are hot (scrambled eggs, peameal bacon, sausage, baked beans, home fries or waffles) all delicious or cold (cereals, muffins, fruit salad, yogurt). The location is perfect as you are only an 8-9 minute drive to shopping malls, Costco, downtown or there are stores and drugstores within walking distance. The rooms are very clean, beds and pillows are comfortable and have an ambiance fireplace and again staff are very friendly. They also have whirlpool suites if you like to soak and fantasy suites. Free parking, free internet, free breakfast and pet friendly. Will definitely stay here again.

« Handy location, Nice place to stay »

A nice room with a reasonable price. It was close to where we needed to be. We were very happy with the lounge / restaurant. We enjoyed a nice meal there and a drink later. It is quite and pleasant - a very nice place to go to spend time with friends or family.

    « Nice Place ! »

I stop in like always and checking in , then i was given an upgrade for my room "no extra cost" . The Restaurants are great they both have good specials on , one is a higher end and the other is more casual c/w a bar. The nice thing is you don't need to go out , you stay right on the premises .

    « A wonderful cosy stay »

I booked this stay for a number of families during our visit to Kingston for a swim meet. It was the perfect distance to the event location, the rooms were perfect for the stay and breakfast was exactly what we needed. We even paid a visit to the lounge/bar and had a wonderful time.

« Great sleep, great room »

The jacuzzi suite was amazing as always! We have stayed here many times and enjoyed every visit. Great beds and great sleep. Nice for a romantic get away right in town. Next time we will try the northern lights suite!

« Rustic Charm meets Country Chic »

I consider this property exceptional. This is an old building that has been well maintained. The decor may be a tad dated, but it fits with the Western Theme and it is so well-kept that instead of being 'tired;, it is rather charming. From the moment I entered the cozy lobby to check-in, I was impressed. A speedy check in led me to my room with two very comfortable Queen beds, made up with clean white linens, a pretty bathroom with ample space to put my toiletries and the most inviting of all was having a fireplace in the room. I had the pleasure of eating in both the restaurant and the bar. A free 'real' breakfast was a delicious surprise from the usual over-processed eggs. With a kitchen on site, meals were prepared in house. All the staff from maids to bartenders were efficient and polite. The only suggestion I have is that an older building with earlier electrical codes means that there are fewer plugs in the room, and not always strategically placed. A power bar to charge phones on the night stand would be nice. I certainly will stay here again to visit my young adult at Queen's.

« Black Friday Shopping weekend! »

This hotel is by far worth the wait of wanting to stay here all my life. The staff are beyond friendly and helpful. The service is top notch, that you'd expect to receive at a Five Star resort. I've stayed at several Best Westerns and this hotel is by far the nicest all around. The food at Stefan's Bistro is amazing. Puts another little resort in Whitney to shame. We were able to upgrade to the jacuzzi suite our second night, which came in handy for wrapping all our entire Christmas purchases, as it is perfectly spacious. The huge tub was a welcomed treat after two days of the mad shopping rush. The complimentary champagne was the perfect touch. Very comfortable, Very clean. We will be back each year. Our new annual tradition. Special thanks to Joanne. Great service. ????????????

This is by far our favourite hotel ever. This location and the service always exceeds our expectations. We have stayed at many Best Westerns and Kingston by far exceeds any location. The restaurants both Toms place and the actual restaurant are amazing. The Waiter we had In Toms place Nathaniel was the best waiter he was 2nd to none! Absolutely excellent service

    « 2 thumbs up! »

As a rule, I never give any hotel a perfect score. There's always something that could be better, faster or more convenient, but the Fireside Inn located in Kingston breaks the rule. They are a model of just what a hotel should be; beautiful, modern facility with a "homie" feel, clean, comfortable rooms and beds, outstanding meals including breakfast and knowledgeable, professional staff who sincerely care about satisfying their guests. The Fireside Inn is a 10 !!

    « back in time »

We stayed one night last week. It was fine and in line with the price $135 with breakfast. The beds were comfortable , the room clean and the breakfast ok but nothing super. The turn down is the decoration. I believe it is the same since 25-30 years. Very old dusty feeling, wood every where ,ugly pictures on the walls, old electric fire place. The bathroom is very outdated and the tub was plugged... Also, no elevators. If you are on the second floor, you have to use a stair case who looks so old and with different floors covers... I was surprised to find this style in Best Western, may be some like it, but not for me even at this price.

Clean, big room and super comfortable. Excellent value for money ! Awesome staff!! Excellent getaway for my wife and I. Have stayed at much pricier hotels and haven't received this kind of awesome genuinely caring service. Keep up the good work. Al

i've been staying at this hotel every year and always have a great stay in their whirlpool suite; the room is cozy and warm with the fireplace and lighted paintings. The hotel restaurant, Bistro Stephan serves excellent food! great servers also. Will definitely keep going each year for a nice get-away.

« Everything you need without the exorbadent price. »

We stayed for one night while in Kingston for a concert. The hotel room was large, clean and very comfortable. Everything worked. The bed was great. But I loved the he restaurant called Tom's Place. It is a hidden gem. When you walk in you think you have entered a hunter's lodge from the 70's! The food was great, the service was great and the price was great! The hotel is not downtown but is a 10 dollar taxi ride away

« A problem with the heater, they replaced the whole unit..... »

as a Hilton Diamond, its rare that i stay at BW but if others are as good as this, they will certainly be considered in the future. let's start with Maitlynn(Hope her name is spelled right.) When creating a reservation, she went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we had everything we wanted with our reservation. She was a delight to work with when we checked in too. We had border issues that forced us to cancel with less than 24 hours for our first night. BW was great about that and agreed not to charge us for the first night. The AC/heating unit was having issues the first night. They got it going on the second night and replaced it on the third day. We were fortunate to have Christian as our bartender and waiter on two successive evenings. he is a character and someone who can spin a story. Finally, there is the room itself. Hey, its a best western right? well there is double headed shower, a leather couch, a mock fireplace in hte corner, nice paintings on the wall and a big old comfortable bed. if there was any criticism it is that the walls or ceilings are a little thin and i could hear a bit of our neighbor's life but given that that was the worst part of the experience, i fully endorse this hotel.

    « Another Great Stay »

On our way to Ottawa for Rememberence Day we stayed the night at the Fireside Inn. We have stayed here several times in the past. We have always enjoyed our stays immensely. The staff are always great especially Natalia who we see in the morning at breakfast. She is a kind and caring person. She always recognizes us even though we only see her a couple of times a year. We enjoyed a snack of chicken wings in Toms Place in the evening they were excellent. Our server was very nice and I wish we had gotten her name. The rooms may be a bit dated decoration wise but they are well layed out and always super clean. The beds and linens were very good qualify. As the next day was Rememberence Day I was pleased to see a Rememberence message playing on the info screens. The breakfast served at this Best Western is head and shoulders above that served at other locations. The quality and selection are great. We always look forward to our next visit. Kudos to the owners and all the staff.

    « Romantic Get away »

We had a one night in the king Jacuzzi suite last weekend. Every member of the staff we encountered were wonderful, helpful and very friendly. We enjoy the Jacuzzi tub, it was larger than most, which was wonderful for my 6+ft husband. The separate bedroom made the suite seem so spacious. The in room fireplace created the perfect ambiance for a getaway night. I was also delighted that the breakfast was in room and it was delicious. I am also celiac and they were aware of gluten and cross contamination and brought a lovely fruit cup in lieu of potatoes for me. We had a wonderful time and we can't wait to go back.

    « Very Good »

The room was clean. The bed was comfortable. Only basic cable TV. The free breakfast was OK. I liked the choice of two restaurants in the same hotel. One for fine dining and one for pub fare. Because it was for a hospital visit I got a substantial discount. The only problem I had was with the key card to enter room. Had to play with it to work.

« You can find better value »

The room is advertised as a Queen Room - it is a double bed. We get in and the room had the air conditioning on - took a bit to get it warm and no extra blankets in the room. The TV was not working properly and neither was the remote control. The breakfast buffet was cold, eggs runny, home fries over cooked and bread for toast was stale.

    « A Time to Relax »

This was the first time in five years hubby and I were away from family. It was only one night but we were not disappointed by the service a accommodations of The Fireside Inn - in Kingston. The service was friendly and prompt. The food delicious and filling. The breakfast buffet was varied, the dining area was beautiful. And the overall price for our stay was reasonable. Thank you to the staff for making our stay so wonderful.

« The best hotel ever! »

This hotel was a wonderful surprise to us. The exterior was immaculate and tastefully decorated for Halloween along with huge flower pot arrangements, Once inside we were amazed at the décor which looked more like a large home in a fashion magazine than a hotel. Our room was complete with a fireplace and wing back chairs, a sofa and end tables and softly lit lamps. The bathroom was spotless with plenty of towels and toiletries. The bed was extremely comfortable with extra pillows. There was nothing lacking. Downstairs was a dining room where breakfast and dinner were served with a huge fireplace at one end. Across from this room was a pub which had wing back chairs around the various tables and once more a huge fireplace. The pub food was a good variety and well prepared, as was the breakfast. The service was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful Every corner of the hotel, including the lobby was creatively decorated and a pleasure to see. With wonderful food, beautiful surroundings, comfortable bed and pillows, spotless premises throughout, what more could one ask for?

    « A Real Learning Experience »

We will never not book directly through Best Western. The price was lowered. Our points were increased. And we got to deal with some terrific individuals who do their jobs in excellent and at- ease ways. Which simple left us relaxed and happy we just dealt with them.

    « Unique Hotel »

I stayed here for 3 days in October,2017. I was upgraded to an executive Suite. It had a huge room with a separate bedroom, living room and bathroom. It also had a small bar. The decor was rustic and I liked this style. It was positive to have a larger room. The breakfast has hot and cold items and the quality was excellent. The service level was high. The price was reasonable. I will come to this hotel when I return to Kingston.

« My prefered in Kingston »

This hotel is great in many ways. You have a choice of two restaurant: a real high end and a bistro type one. The bistro is also a great bar to hang around. They also have a an electric charger for their guests. Decor is a vintage/cottage pine and which gives it a special 'cachet'

« Cozy old little hotel »

Stayed here for the first time based on the Trip Advisor reviews, which is pretty accurate. It's an old hotel but not terrible to stay at if you don't want to pay waterfront hotel prices downtown. It's only 10 mins to downtown and very quick to get to Hwy 401 so it's a great location. The rooms are clean and the bed was comfy. Love the little electric fireplace in the room. The lounge was okay and had standard pub-kinda food. Nothing great. The breakfast that's included in the morning was better than other hotels! Great selection. I'd recommend this hotel and rate it as a solid 3 star out of 5.

« Great service. Helpful and understanding. »

This is a BestWestern. So you know it's not a luxury hotel. However the service is so friendly and helpful. Even answering questions about uber at 4am with a smile and courtesy. Not to use a cliche but the service made my visit like a visit away from home. 5 star service for a 3.5 + star hotel. Excellent lrice and breakfast too.

« Great stay at BW Fireside Inn »

My wife and I and my sister and my brother in law stayed here overnight 26/9/17 whilst travelling to Montreal. We stayed in a family room with 2 queen beds and thought that there was ample room for the 4 of us. The room was very clean as was the bathroom . Our room overlooked the swimming pool and we wished we had brought our swimming gear with us as it was very warm and the area looked great, plenty sun beds ! We thought the bar area was unique due to the decor of deer heads and buffalo mounted on the walls along with much more western items on display . Spent ages admiring all the bits and pieces. Didn't eat here at night as we went downtown to checkout the waterfront area. This too was an excellent area. Plenty eating establishments and watering holes here. Breakfast was really good and plentiful . Staff were very helpful with info about the local area. Only fault was we felt the a/c unit was a bit noisy in the bedroom . Overall excellent stay and would recommend to anyone travelling here to stay here

    « NIce hotel »

We stopped here for 1 night on our way to Montreal. The room was quite spacious and comfortable. I enjoyed the fireplace in the room!! Eating dinner in the attached pub was a bit of an issue, as it took forever to get service and we were seated at a sofa with a cocktail table in front of us, which was awkward for eating. When we were seated there at the sofa, the server said he would get us a table as soon as 1 was free, in the meantime, we could have a drink. Several tables were emptied as we sat there, and new arrivals were seated at those tables.....meanwhile we sat at the sofa with no service at all! I understand that the place was busy that night, so we cut them some slack. However it was not a pleasant experience and we ended up eating from the sofa, hunched over the cocktail table, when we finally received some service. We would have gone somewhere else, but it was late and the hotel is a bit far from other restaurants. The breakfast was a different experience....excellent buffet, served in a delightful room, with many choices of food. Overall it was a nice place to stay. Maybe our experience in the pub was a one-off sort of thing.......

    « older but nice »

The building was an older one and the décor in the rooms was a little dated but everything was nice and clean. The room was a little cramped. The breakfast that was included was fairly standard (cereal, scrambled eggs, sausage, waffle maker, etc.) but it was all good quality. the service provided, from the front desk to all other staff was excellent.

« Excellent Hotel in Kingston »

Outstanding Hotel! My wife and I stayed there for one night. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly. The room was very clean, cozy and nothing was broken or out of order. We had a great supper and our waiter was awesome. We will undoubtedly stay here again on our next visit to Kingston and we highly recommend the hotel to anyone visiting the Kingston area. CAA members have special rates and the breakfast buffet was great.

« Great Place to relax. »

My Wife and I spent the night of Oct 5th, 2017 At the Best Western Fireplace in Kingston. We were interested in someplace quite comfortable and a bit different. The Best Western did not disappoint. A very clean and inviting Queen size room met all of our expectations. Each room has a fireplace and interesting décor. We found the bed a little soft but that is a matter of preference. Its highly likely we will stay here again on our next visit to Kingston and would recommend the hotel to anyone visiting the Kingston area.

Very traditional lodge decor. This is an older hotel but the upkeep has been phenomenal. Everything in working order and spotless. Comfy beds and the night light was a nice touch. This hotel shows a pride of ownership not often seen. Tom's place is great little lounge to visit but beware of potential early closing.

« Loved this cozy, comfortable inn! »

We spent just one night here and loved the cozy, spotlessly clean room with two queen beds, a sitting area, and a fireplace. A very unique place -- such a welcome change from the decor of the cookie-cutter chain hotels! The buffet breakfast that was included in the very reasonable rate was really good, and was the nicest breakfast room setting that I've seen in a long time. Wish we had known to request a first-floor room, due to a mobility issue and no elevator. We would definitely return.

    3
    « Whimsical Hotel »

Check in was a breeze with the friendly staff. The rooms are more for tourists than business travelers. We had a fireplace room with fake flames. The rooms felt like it was a decoration hobby of the owners wife, a mix of this & that and needless knickknacks everywhere. Very good beds - slept well. Plenty of parking. Good internet connection. Brrr the pool was fresh. Good breakfast buffet. It's not my type of hotel but would recommend for families & tourists.

    4
« You get what you pay for! »

The fireside inn is an excellent choice! It's easy to get downtown within 10 minutes and easy to get back on the 401 highway. It has a relaxed atmosphere and has a very good breakfast and very friendly staff. If it's nice weather, enjoy the outside patio and lounge with a drink or take a book and sit under an umbrella and soak up the beautiful weather! The bar/lounge serves up some excellent beers on tap, and the snacks I had were delicious! The room was big enough and outside of summer you would likely turn on the fireplace. It was still warm so didn't use it.

« Okay, but over ranked on Tripadvisor »

The hotel was likely built in the 60s or 70s and has been renovated in perhaps the late 90s. Hallways are older, rooms are fairly old and come with a fireplace. There is nothing that is particularly wrong with the property - but there is also nothing particularly great about the property as well. I found the mattress to be too soft, but that is a personal preference. I would stay again, but I would try other places first. The onsite bar is decent, had good service, similar strange rustic decor as the rest of the property, and some good beer on tap - although it closed at midnight on a Friday - it was quiet, but still fairly early for a hotel bar to close on a Friday. The breakfast the next morning is standard to slightly below standard for included breakfasts in North America. I wouldn't eat the included breakfast a second time.

We have celebrated many special occasions by staying here over the years and have always enjoyed it Staff is wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable and professional. « As advertised and more »

Have stayed in a number of hotels/motels that were not up to the standards advertised, however, the Best Western Fireside Inn was a definite exception. Found it just as shown on the ads. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Room decor was amazing, like living in a rustic cottage, fireplace and all. Free breakfast was the best we have experienced in many years. If you are visiting Kingston, Ontario I highly recommend you try this location.

    « A great stay at BW - Kingston »

Though we have been trying to avoid Best Western hotels for our hotel stays because we do not agree with the added marketing fee charged on our bill. We did take a chance on BW Kingston and were glad we did. It appears that the fee is now hidden in the room rate - so not as irritating as in the past. The property was date but clean and the staff very friendly!

    5
    « You gotta try it ! »

Am a regular BW Fireside Inn Customer. Have always had a great stay. The staff are exceptional and go out of their way to make you feel at home. Property has both a Formal Dining Room and a comfy Pub style eatery as well as a buffet breakfast.

    « Friendly staff, comfortable »

My husband and I had to look for a pet-friendly hotel at the last minute. From the instant we walked in the door, everyone was friendly and welcoming, from the front desk to the cleaning staff. The little bag for the dog, containing a couple of treats and a few poop bags, was a wonderful touch. The beds were very comfortable and the room really clean. It was very quiet. The decor is quite dated and the corridors very narrow, but I would definitely stay here again.

« One of My Favourite spots! »

This is a wonderful place to rest your head...fireplace in the room, pool outside, jaccuzi in the room. The best part of this place is the lovely staff who go out of their way to help with anything you need. Ok...so it is not uber modern...however it is charming and I always come away hoping I will be back soon!

« Comfortable country inn atmosphere »

Check-in person was very welcoming and helpful. Quickly changed us to a ground floor room as there are no elevators. Rooms are very cozy, feel more like a B&B or inn than a hotel. We enjoyed our dinner in the on site Bistro, dim lighting, tablecloths, excellent menu. Unfortunately we were not able to enjoy the soft music once people at a table near us pulled out their phones. It was like poor radio reception with three stations coming in! (Younger folks would not understand that reference)! Note: breakfast buffets on holidays are on weekday hours not weekend as we had assumed, so 6:30 to 10:00 not 7:00 to 11:00. We arrived shortly before 10:00 and items were cold, not replenished and cleared away before we were finished.

    3
« Good Value, comfortable stay »

We stayed at the BW Fireside Inn for 3 days to attend a Wedding and spend some down time in Kingston. The hotel is doing its best to keep everything very clean and presentable, but there is no hiding that the wood everywhere decor is outdated and needs to be updated, the rooms are comfortable but noise from other guest seemed to go right through the walls. The breakfast came with our room so we took advantage of that each morning, the selection was very good, and the staff was excellent in keeping everything available and cleaning up as people left . The only down side was the decor of the restaurant again it was outdated but clean and comfortable. Looking at some of the prices that other hotels are asking for nearer the waterfront , the BW Fireside is a good value , and it's clean with a excellent staff .

    « Great Stay »

We spent a night here on our way to Ottawa so we could tour the Kingston Pen. We enjoyed the short stay and cannot think of anything negative to say. Our room was big enough for the three of us and a dog. It was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. I had been looking forward to swimming in the pool which looked enticing at night but it was chilly and I just couldn't motivate myself even though they said it was heated. Reasonable rate for the dog. We would stay here again. Although we did not stay in one, check out the fantasy suites.

We love to stay in Kingston on our way to Montreal from Toronto. This stay was even more eventful as we were on our way to Montreal to attend our Granddaughters wedding. We had a great sleep and a delicious dinner. We Will always go back to the Fireside Inn.

    « Weekend to Relax »

We spent 2 nights here in whirlpool suite. The room was clean and spacious. We had complimentary champagne and strawberries dipped in chocolate in our room when we arrived. We also received 2 complimentary Breakfasts delivered to the room both mornings. Highly recommend the eggs benedict. Sat by the pool and enjoyed lunch from Tom's place. All in all we had a great weekend relaxing. We will return.

« Best hotel in Kingston »

We have been coming to the Fireside Inn for the last 5 years on our anniversary. This year we were given an upgrade to a jacuzzi suite which turned out to be perfect. The staff are always friendly and accommodating. The included breakfast is first class. We will continue to return here for our anniversary next year. It's just a great place to stay.

« Excellent full service hotel »

Lots of character in this hotel, inside and out. I had a large suite with a Jacuzzi and a fireplace. Pleasant sitting area and a separate bedroom with a door. Could make it as dark as I like. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The hallways seem a bit narrow, but this is not a cookie-cutter motel. A restaurant and a bar off the lobby. Breakfast is in the restaurant, and is certainly restaurant quality. Real eggs! Check in/out quick and simple.

« Customer focused employees in a cozy and well run property »

Clean, well maintained hotel with exceptional service. Every employee we interacted with was friendly and helpful. Hotel pool was clean and empty most of the time. Tom's Place bar service while at the pool was not open while we were there. Good selection at breakfast; replenished regularly and all items fresh and hot. Despite being busy, servers and breakfast manager greeted us with a smile. Room cleaning service was efficient, and again, the employees were friendly and courteous to us. Good value though our room was a bit smaller than we were used to. But clean and quiet. Fireplace in each room adds a nice, cozy touch

« Excellent Breakfast and Neat Rooms »

I found the rooms to be rather cozy and comfortable with their fireplaces and interesting decor. It was very clean as well. I normally have difficulty sleeping away from home, but I had a decent sleep for a hotel room. However, what stood out the most was the hot breakfast that was included. The food was fresh, the quality excellent, and the selection good. It was restaurant quality. I was very impressed and greatly enjoyed a hearty breakfast before making the long trip home.

    « hotel with character »

This hotel was convenient to the highway to Toronto. It had character in the decor. I got upgraded it was a lovely king with fireplace. The restaurant Bistro Stephan for supper was super. Nice atmosphere, great service and good roast beef available on Tues. night. The room was clean and quiet on the second floor. Wifi was good. It is different from all the same hotels. I would stay here again when in Kingston.

    « Great stay »

This hotel exudes warmth and character. Rooms are cozy (fireplace included), and contain all amenities. The hotel restaurant and pub are terrific. The free hot breakfast was restaurant quality and substantial. The free parking is protected and roomy. Location of the hotel is away from the noise, but within minutes of local attractions. Finally, but most importantly, the staff including front desk, room service, and dining service, were most accommodating and gracious. Thanks to all.

« Booked last minute, very impressed! Cute, comfy and CLEAN! »

My mother and I had somewhat planned a last minute weekend away to Kingston. No hotel booked. We arrived and starting scouting out options. We lucked out when we drove up to the BW Fireside Inn, they had one room available! It was perfect. Cute decor, comfy beds, and CLEAN! Two double beds, a couch and a fireplace! The staff were lovely, and the breakfast in the morning was just what we needed. I left something behind in the hotel room, and the staff were kind enough to help co-ordinate shipping it back to me. My mother and I loved our weekend in Kingston, and we will definitely be recommending this hotel. Thanks!

    « Great Stay »

Our first time staying at the Fireside Inn and we loved it. the hotel has plenty of character that we learned from the restaurant staff was fashioned after the owners interests and hobbies, of hunting and travel. The same owners for the past 45yrs! Very Clean, great restaurant and quality of food.Large comfortable rooms, and the pool outdoors looked very inviting. We will stay here again when we return to Kingston.

    « FIresdie Inn »

Room is a bit crowded with all the furniture (we had a King room), and very dated in décor style, however, location was good for us and was relatively well priced. Beds are firm, breakfast was fair for a buffet.

    « Comfort and Relaxing »

Great room, rustic but modern. Washroom was modern, floor tiling new. Walls are well decorated and outside wall if logged. Fireplace added decor and probably add a cozy atmosphere in cooler weather. Restaurants were cozy, not too loud and the food was exceptional at dinner. Breakfast was one of the better offerings I have had in similar type hotels. Staff courteous and friendly.

« One night stay in Kingston »

Nice hotel in Kingston. Comfortable bed and nice shower too., with an overhead shower spray, good for tall people, no stooping. Breakfast was included, it was alright. Didn't care for the scrambled eggs though. There was a fireplace in the room, but didn't use it as it was summer. The A/C worked well.

    5
    « Will definitely Return »

Comfortable bed. Immaculate bathroom. Firness centre is good. - although treadmill was broken. Restaurants is good. T ypical bar menu - soups of the day are excellent. Rooms somewhat dark. Landscaping very tasteful.

« Best sleep and breakfast during our entire vacation! »

We were on our way home from Nova Scotia (drove there and back). We stayed at other hotel chains on our way there, during our stay and on the way back. Our bed for the week in Nova Scotia was nice and soft but very sunken in the middle. We stopped for the night in Edmundston before stopping in Kingston, and the bed there was as stiff as a board. We enjoy the Best Western in our home town, so when we decided to break up the long drive through too much construction by stopping for another night in Kingston, we decided to check in at the Best Western Fireside. The bed in this hotel was like sleeping on a perfect cloud! The bedding was clean and comfortable. The room was clean and even a little romantic. The fireplace was a great touch! The bathroom was immaculate. Double headed shower! The included buffet breakfast had the best variety and quality food. Everything was fresh, hot and tasty. We were so very pleased with this hotel. We've been telling everyone about it. We've stayed in our fair share of hotels and we have more than enough to compare to. This was one of, if not, the best hotel we've stayed in. We are already planning a long weekend away for October to stay at this hotel again.

    « Solid 3* with Wonderful Staff »

Highly recommend this hotel if you are in Kingston to see the sites. Hotel is located @ 7 - 10 minutes from the waterfront. It is a solid, bang for your buck property. Exterior is quaint, interior very clean, family friendly, staff is super. Found best pricing directly on Best Western's website. It was a nice, last minute booking.

    « Great Experience! »

We took a short family trip to Kingston and thoroughly enjoyed our 2-night stay. The staff was friendly & helpful, the rooms were clean and cozy, the beds were extremely comfortable, and the complimentary buffet breakfast was perfect. We will definitely be returning to this hotel and recommend it to anyone. Next time we would like to stay in the fantasy suites. They look fun & the kids would think they are a blast.

« Lovely Hotel and Restaurant »

This hotel is lovely and the restaurant is top-notch. They have some packages for hotel guests--be sure and have a look on their website before you book. The bed was great and the hotel was quiet. Be careful of the drive-through roof if you have an RV or high vehicle.

    « no elevator »

there is no elevator to the 2nd floor . After driving all day, I was not impressed and too tired to complain . The Bristro was excellent and the service outstanding ! Crystal and Bruce know the art of providing great service !! We crawled our way up the warmest flight of stairs to our room.

    5
« Friendly staff, clean rooms and good breaky! »

Front desk staff was efficient and pleasant! Rooms were clean and large. Very good size tv in the bedroom and a nice fireplace as well! Varied options at breakfast (good selection) and tasty! Would stay here again!

    « good experience »

Great service, great food, good experience, decor a touch dated, but service and guest experience more than made up for that.Very accessible, a good family experience, and there actually is a fireplace in the room!

    « Great stay! »

Front desk staff were couteous. Room comfortable and also had a fireplace. We had a free breakfast buffet each morning in one of the two restaurants on site. There is an outdoor pool. The Kingston Penitentiary tour is a must and only a 7 minute drive away.

    5
« Great staff and bar service at the outdoor pool »

Nice, clean rooms, great staff. Breakfast was great too! Would try Tom's Place for a bite to eat next time. Looked nice and cozy inside. Nice outdoor pool with bar service! The hotel is not walking distance to downtown and the waterfront but it's a good location in between the 401 and downtown.

    « AWESOME VISIT! »

We stayed at the Fireside Inn on July 19 and 20. We had two rooms booked to spend time with family visiting from Quebec. The rooms are beautiful and the staff are extraordinary. We even met the owner and her husband who were very kind and gracious. Both evenings we ate superb meals at Chez Stephan. One of the days we spent enjoying the outdoor pool that has food and bar service. (Toms Place).Joanne was outstanding! Couldn't have asked for a more perfect getaway. We have a special Anniversary coming soon and plan to make the trip to Kingston to celebrate at The Fireside Inn.

    5
« The very best value better than 5 star and should be rated as a 5 star if noy allready. »

We were two very tired old souls that were driving back from Quebec city. We decided to call it a day and remembered a quaint little hotel that we visited 4 to 5 years ago. Would it still be the same ?? When we arrived, the front desk sweetheart treated us like her grandparents. Took care of us like no other. This hotel DID NOT CHANGE!! She placed us on the 1st floor as we didn't have the desire to climb the stairs. Wonderful room, bed space, design, décor, fireplace, clean, quite, whatever. The free breakfast is a Hot and cold buffet. Quality plates and cutlery. Food was fresh as was the orange juice, coffee croissants (to die for). The Bistros stake house top quality, in fact better than 80% of the ones in Toronto . This is now our family's official home in Kingston.

    5
    « A Happening Place »

While not located close to the harbor, this hotel was a center of activity. Two restaurants, a bar and bistro were located there and it seemed locals patronize them. The atmosphere was welcoming and the personnel courteous. I would recommend this facility.

    5
    « A Very nice Hotel »

Very comfortable hotel. I stay here whenever I'm in Kingston as it is very convenient for where I need to go when in Kingston on business. The breakfast is quite good that comes with the stay and in a nice setting. The choice of both the restaurant and the bar/restaurant make for a nice on-site option for meals.

« Well worth staying here »

All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful . Room was well appointed and quiet . Price was reasonable and close to what we had planned for the weekend . Downtown was still only a few minutes away . We would highly recommend this hotel

    « Clean and Quiet »

Very clean and quiet place just minutes from downtown Kingston. Breakfast was good but very crowded space on a busy morning. Front desk was really helpful in providing me with shaving cream since I forgot mine at home. The room was quaint and even had a fireplace. Did not use it since it was July!

    5
    « Clean and comfortable »

The room was very spacious and comfortable. It was clean and well maintained. The free wifi, parking and breakfast was great. The pool area was beautifully landscaped. The staff were efficient and friendly.

« Great staff, cozy decor, free use of EV charger »

I've stayed here for 3 nights (over 2 stays) in the last 6 weeks and continue to be impressed. On both visits, the staff blocked off access to the electric vehicle charging spot for me (yes, they have one and it it complimentary!), so that other guests wouldn't inadvertently park in that spot and prevent me from recharging. The charger is a Level 2 1772 and is located at the rear of the right hand parking lot when facing the hotel from the street. This is the coziest BW I've every stayed at and the staff are always cheerful, helpful and polite.

« Clean, comfortable and friendly! »

Great hotel for a 2 night getaway with the kids. They really enjoyed the pool! Room was clean and staff friendly. Location was great, only 10 minutes to Kingston Pen and 20 minutes to Fort Henry. Would stay here again in the future.

    4
    « Quirky »

A handy small hotel. The pool area was really nice. The rooms pleasant but dark. All areas were clean and tidy. There are some themed rooms too. The breakfast was adequate. And the area cleaned and tidied.

    « Don't Expect That Much! »

We recently stayed at this BW location in Kingston after staying at other BW locations elsewhere. Expect the same type of breakfast as other locations with the same type of breakfast staff, some of them overly friendly others quite disgruntled, banging serving dishes and grunting as they dump piles of semi-boiled sausages into the warming tray. Expect the same group of foreign tourists monopolizing the one waffle maker and the same over done potatoes. DO NOT stay in the west entrance location as the rooms have paper thin walls and the carpets smell. The motel/hotel does not have an elevator. The rooms themselves are a weird mixture of furnishings with gas fireplaces and very outdated bathrooms with one small exception, the shower head is adjustable! Okay for a night but for $200 a night, you might want to shop around.

« Fabulous one night stay »

We stayed here for one night with another couple and were extremely satisfied with our stay. The lady checking us in was very nice and the Bar staff were exceptional. Overall we were pleased with everything, the room was nice and the Bed very comfortable. Would definitely recommend this Hotel

    « Summer trip »

Very easy to find Staff were great and the food at the restaurant was really good and very well priced. Room was very clean and the in room breakfast was on time and very well prepared. We did not take advantage of the pool but the area was very clean.

« Our night on the moon »

We stayed in the Tranquility Base room. The service was excellent and the room was neat. You would not need more than 1 night in the room since the novelty wears off but after the first day, it is basically the price of a regular room so, win-win. It is spacious too and we had 4 TVS.

    « Amazing »

With a senior lady friend, I visited Kingston and Gananoque, Ontario for short cruises on Lake Ontario and St-Lawrence river; also to visit these towns and visit the casino. I have appreciated every visits as well as the Best Western hotel where we stayed for the whole time of our visit. It was the first visite for my friend while I had been in these surroundings many times in the past years.

    « Girl's Trip to the "Pen" »

Stayed at the Best Western Fireside Inn Kingston June 25 and 26th, 2017. There were 5 of us and we had two rooms, each room had two queen size beds. Plenty of room. Ate most meals at the hotel, either in the comfy lounge or out by the pool. All were good. We chose this hotel because it was within our budget and not too far from the Kingston Pen which we toured on the 26th.

    « Weekend stay »

Ive used this hotel a few times while visiting Kingston but, now it is in desperate need of a re-life. As soon as you walk in you can smell the old musty carpet, walls, etc. This carries on into the room as well. Musty smell from the carpet, and air conditioning unit. Staff however was amazing to deal with.

    5
« Great Hotel in Kingston Ontario »

A clean hotel with friendly and efficient staff that includes an above average breakfast with the price of the room. We had a drink at one of their restaurants called "Toms". They should consider changing the chairs as they were pretty uncomfortable, however having said that our stay at the hotel was great.

    4
    « NIce Stay »

A very nice place to stay. Rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The only negatives were the noise from people in the hallways and the fact that the building must have shifted at some point and opening the door to the room was very difficult. The location was close to everything and the breakfast was very good. The staff were very accommodating and very nice to deal with. We would recommend this Best Western to anyone travelling in the area.

    5
« Excellent service, comfortable rooms, great stay! »

My husband and I stayed five nights at the Best Western Fireside Inn in Kingston, Ontario. The room was big enough for both of us, and the bed was super comfortable. It was during a heat wave, and the air conditioning definitely worked with no issues. The customer service at the hotel, as well as the restaurant and lounge was superior - very friendly without being too pesty. Thanks again for a great stay!

    3
    « Kingston Pen Tour »

Our overall experience here was satisfactory. Its; a little way from the central hub of downtown Kingston so you have to drive everywhere. Beware of the one way streets and parking is a nightmare downtown. The adjoining restaurant "Tom's Place" is not recommended. The service was great but the meal itself was less than satisfactory.

    5
« Home away from home »

Another very enjoyable stay. The best of service where the staff is exceptional, the facilities are great and the food in both restaurants can match any of the finest. It made for a very enjoyable anniversary.

« Decent clean hotel with charm »

Did an overnight stay at this property and was pleased. It's definitely got some charm. The room was clean, and the bed was decently comfortable. They have a complimentary breakfast buffet which was also good. As a business traveler though, I have to say the Wi-Fi was weak and not very functional. There was a desk in the room for working but no nearby power outlets.

  • 4
    « Rustic and quaint »

We stayed for two nights and it was obvious why it is called the Fireside Inn... our room had its own fireplace. The bed was comfortable and everything was clean. Things were a little outdated compared to some of the more modern hotels we stay in but there was nothing negative about this place.. and the staff were courteous and efficient. The breakfast was very good, and I think we would go back if the opportunity arose.

    « Very clean. »

The price was good and so was the room. Comfort was wonderful. Breakfast offered a wide array of choices and it was fresh and delicious. My wifi would kick off and I had to go to the front desk. The last morning I was there, I couldnt connect to the wifi, so didnt bother.

    « Fireside Inn, Kingston »

Overall very good. We stayed five nights and the cleaners were excellent. I've stayed in places where the rooms were not vacuumed between guests and you could see long hairs everywhere. This was NOT the case here. The place does not have an elevator and this is a problem for seniors and disabled persons. Make note to ask for accessible rooms if this is you. We did experience noise the first night of stay but as usual it's the clients that are the problem. People were slamming doors until all hours of the night Probably a group traveling and partying between rooms. I would suggest putting groups either in isolation or put them so far apart it's inconvenient to walk between rooms.

    3
    « CLEAN »

Clean hotel, no issues. The rooms were really outdated.. just needed a place to stay so i guess it sufficed. However it is on the pricy side for a room. The breakfast was mediocre, but included so that was nice..

Quiet, updated, clean, pet-friendly. This will be our go-to getaway spot. Well appointed rooms. Ours had fireplace and great A/C. Log walls and country pool terrasse. Friendly staff in pub, resto and room service. Middle aged Receptionist with maroon hair was curt and inattentive.

    « Amazing service »

Came for three days for a regional bridge tournament. Having never been in the hotel before, I spent quite a while exploring all that it had to offer. Overall very impressed! The highlight was the staff in the small restaurant and the food that was served! It is such a treat to be served by someone who truly enjoyed what they do....smiling all the time and totally in tune with the fact that the customer is important. Whoever was in the kitchen knew what they were doing! Highly recommend this hotel

    « Great value...cleanest hotel I've been in. »

From the amazing staff to the very clean and properly appointed room, this was a great value. It is absolutely everything you need for a comfortable stay. Honestly, don't remember being in a hotel room that has been kept this clean! Included breakfast was great. Buffet staff were wonderful. Only caution - if you have mobility issues (we did not) request a first floor room, as there is not an elevator. Would most definitely recommend to family and friends, and hope to stay again.

« Nice hotel with big rooms »

Checked in very late after we landed in montreal anf drove to Kingston that same night. Located very close to the highway exit we didn't want to search for cheaper hotels. The room was huge for 2 persons for just one night(having 2 queen size beds). We were told there was no other free room left. Well, parking lot was not even half full, so I'm not really sure if this was true. And 140 $ CAD (plus an additional fee of 20$ for whatever) All in all: nice and tidy hotel, in my opinion a little to expensive.

My husband and I were only at the fireside Inn for one night. I really could have spent a week there. It was cosy, clean and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable too. « Great location in Kingston. Amazing staff and service. »

We stayed at the Best Western Fireside Inn in Kingston while visiting to attend our sons university graduation. We found it through Trip Advisor reviews and the value, reviews and location seemed to be a good balance. We certainly agree that this is reasonable value and the location is good. The rooms are quiet and clean. The included breakfast is better than most places that offer included breakfasts. The only negatives were we found the rooms and decor to be a bit dated, and the mattress on the bed and pillows were not that comfortable, making for less than the best nights sleep. In room electric fireplaces are a nice touch. At least the room was clean, quiet and there was no traffic noise. The staff were amazing. Check in was quick and friendly, check out was even better, surprisingly efficient. The restaurant staff were very pleasant and helpful. Overall, we were pleased. Just wish that perhaps they could upgrade the mattresses and pillows. We would stay there again, next time we would definitely bring our own pillows.

    « GREAT LOCATION »

This is the best location in Kingston that we have stayed at for over 30 years. We will return in the fall for another 2 days. There is so much to do and see in the Kingston Ontario. Take the ferry to Wolf Island and drive to the USA with another ferry ride or take the Glenora ferry to Prince Edward County and vist Piction.

« Great Food at The Fireside Inn »

Stayed for 3 nights, had dinner at both Tom's and Bistro Stefan's. Food is awesome, prepared fresh and with attention to detail. My stay included a complimentary breakfast, which was far beyond my expectations. All three mornings had scrambled eggs, sausages, toast, home fries, cereal, pancakes, waffles, fresh fruit salad, coffee, tea and muffins, bagels. The same breakfast would have cost easily $15+ each morning. Tom's has an amazing burger and I enjoyed a really good steak Bistro Stefan's. I believe all the food is made at Bistro Stefan's. The hotel has a quaint cottage feel to it. All rooms have a fireplace, cozy room, clean and comfortable bed. I would highly recommend this hotel.

« Always Great at the Fireside Inn »

What can I say.... my stay at this hotel is always great. I have even been to the hotel and the front desk staff recognize me. I am always treated with utmost respect and as a valued client. This hotel has a cozy "home away from home" feel. The breakfast in the morning is the best I receive from any hotel that I stay at.

« Great stay in a homey atmosphere »

Check in & out was fast. Crystal at the front desk was friendly & helpful & a pleasure to talk with. We liked our room. It had two doubles & a love-seat. Our room also had a gas fireplace, but maybe they all do. It was a nice touch & we used it both nights of our stay. The room was clean & inviting. The bedding was crisp, clean, fresh with lots of pillows. The towels were soft, thick & plentiful. The TV & WiFi worked well, no issues there. We will definitely stay there again & will recommend the hotel to our family & friends.

    « Beautiful Inn! »

My husband and I had to visit Kingston for a medical visit. We looked up this Inn on TripAdvisor and the reviews looked pretty good. They were right! The service was impeccable...friendly and warm! The rooms were amazing for the price paid! Fireplace included along with breakfast in the morning? Wow! We were not expecting all the little extras! Not only that, but there is also a great little pub and a restaurant attached to the Inn of you don't feel like going out! The food is great and everything is reasonably priced! When we visit Kingston again, we will be back for another stay!

Wonderful hotel with nice quiet location. Staff was wonderful and buffet breakfast was great. All fresh and piping hot. « Great Location, Friendly Staff »

We had heard and read from others that it was a great place to stay. Having a 2 restaurants on-site you cannot go wrong. The location is great too as just down the street is an area mall, a grocery store right beside us plus other amenities nearby. It also is lose to the College and not too far away from Queens. BG ring that it was exam time, students moving out and the weekend the streets were very busy, but nonetheless we were able to get to where we needed to without too much trouble. We arrived at the BW around 4pm and were greeted by a friendly young lady named Marilyn. She was polite, professional, made sure we knew about the about the 2 restaurants on-site, gave us our breakfast tickets and a general breakdown of the area when asked. When entering the BW I was struck by the décor, cleanliness, warm friendly atmosphere. The room which room which we booked included a very comfortable king-sized bed with a desk and chair as well as a pull out couch, lovely fireplace, TV, refrigerator and bathroom. It had everything you could want in a room. It was very clean and the décor was warm and inviting. I will say I overheard some comments that it was a bit dated but we were very happy. The shower had 2 heads which I had never seen before but I tell you it was a lovely shower. Just down the hall is the door leading to the Fantasy Suites, all different themed rooms if that is to your liking. The first of the 2 restaurants was Bistro Stefan and the menu looked scrumptious which included steaks, seafood beautifully presented. This is where you also have breakfast in the morning. Tom's Place is the other restaurant and it is casually elegant with very comfortable arm chairs for seating. Our order consisted of a hamburger with fries, clubhouse with chicken and rice soup and a steak and Philly cheese wrap with same soup. All were very tasty and the servers were very friendly. Brunch was very good with a large variety to choose from (cereals, juices, coffee or tea, milk, eggs, sausages, etc..) Parking is plentiful as well. I would highly recommend BW Fireside Inn should you have the pleasure of visiting Kingston. We will definitely be back once the school year starts up again.

« Lovely hotel, never disappointed »

We stay in this wonderful hotel whenever we need to be in Kingston. We have never been disappointed here. The staff is all so friendly no matter what their position. All smiles. We've loved all the rooms with the fireplaces. On our last visit we were upgraded to a whirlpool suite which was terrific. We enjoy having breakfast in the lovely Bistro Stefan; the selection is good and staff again so friendly no matter how early in the day. Thank you to everyone who make our stays so special.

Stayed with a family of four. Room was very spacious and warm. The bed comfy and cozy. There was a crib awaiting us upon arrival as requested. The staff was very pleasant and very accommodating. The breakfast was extensive and tasty. My kids loved the fireplace too. Second stay. Will be back again.

« Stay at Fireside Inn »

This Best Western is now average, in stay, decor & al. It is one of any number of hotels rooms, very impersonal. This Hotel used to be very different in rooms, now it is a generic stay like all others. nothing special or different. I miss the special attention and we have been staying there for over 25 years.

    5
    « Friendly and welcoming »

I have stayed at a lot of hotels over the years, but this hotel has to be the most welcoming. Not only the front reception staff but also the housekeeping staff. They are all so polite and try very hard to accommodate your needs. Excellent stay, I'll definitely stay there again.

« Home away from home »

This hotel should be a model for all others. From its design with two restaurants on site and fireplaces in the rooms to the fabulous breakfast, we were made to feel at home by every staff member and with every amenity. We had a great stay here and will definitely be back whenever we are in Kingston!

The rooms are beautiful. Just like being in your own livingroom with the fireplace on. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Food in the restaurant was great and so was the breakfast.

« Great Value For Money »

We were travelling up to Quebec so stopped in for a one night stay. Our room was great with fast check-in and good value for money. We ate in the bar restaurant for dinner which was nice. Breakfast was a hot buffet which was very nice.

« Relaxing day in Kingston »

My wife and I had an amazing time at Best Western. We would go back to that hotel and would recommend it to others. The lady at the front desk that check us in was very nice to us. She printed us a map on where we wanted to go, even if it was only 8 minutes away from the hotel. The supper at the Bistro in the hotel was extremely good.

« Fireplace made it so cosy »

I checked in during a snowstorm. The snow was blowing and it was really cold out. Walked out of the storm into the lobby and a pleasant busy restaurant with guests sitting in big wingback chairs with a fireplace blazing - very welcoming and nice. My room had a fireplace, comfortable couch and sitting area. Was so happy to take off my winter coat and boots, turn on the fire, and warm up. Bed was very comfortable with lots of pillows. Breakfast was very nice - the usual selection - nicely presented and prepared. Would definitely stay again.

    « Tired and a bit tacky »

This place tries for the rustic look and fails. The result is a place heavy on pine and a tad old, dreary and tacky looking. The bedroom is chock a block decorated with items one might associate with a rustic cottage up n the mountains. Unfortunately it just looks old and a tad cheap. The 'electric' fireplace is an example. Gas would be fine. A wood burning fireplace would be nicer. An electric fire simulation is just place tacky. While the bedrooms need serious updating, the renovated bathrooms are quite nice (albeit a tad small). The room came with breakfast which was as forgettable as the furnishings. Better save your money. Stay at the Holiday Inn Express or Choice hotel and go out for breakfast. Lastly, the ceilings are low throughout the hotel making the place look closed in and dreary.

    « Fantastic »

Stayed in many 5+ star hotels in passed. This hotel is a gem. Fantastic staff. Room was ready for us upon arrival including our crib for our baby. Although decor was dated there was nothing I could complain about. Cleanliness of rooms, super comfortable beds, parking, breakfast in dining room was great. Stop wasting your time looking in Kingston for a hotel this place matchs up to any 5+ Hotel. Dinner in bistro Stefan was delightful.

    « Visiting Family »

Came to stay at the Best Western Fireside Inn to visit my sister who lives in the next town over. Really enjoy our stay here. The hotel reminds me of a cottage cabin feeling. The hotel is also dog friendly. We book a dog friendly room in case we brought our dogs. But we got our daughter to watch them. The room that they did give us was near a exit so it was very convince to take them out if we needed to. We enjoyed the breakfast and loved that they had a waffle, instead of pancakes that was a nice treat. Also what I like about this hotel is that you were not that far from anything. I would stay here again. Over all experience was wonderful.

    « lunch at Tom's Place »

We needed somewhere near the railway station for a quick but good lunch in pleasant surroundings, & Tom's Place restaurant, in the Fireside Inn, was perfect. There really is a fireside; there are also comfortable chairs, enormous numbers of mounted deer heads & other animals (not the place for someone who flinches at the thought of taxidermy), no canned music at all, cheerful, efficient servers & well-prepared (though not especially imaginative) food. The outside of the building is fun too -- wooden & quirky, by no means the usual cooky-cutter modern hotel.

    4
    « Every room has a fireplace ! »

Stayed here while in town for a funeral. Loved the fact that every room has its own fireplace. Bed was very comfortable and the breakfast that was included was great. Rooms are a little outdated with paintings and a wood duck but it was very clean and cozy with a leather couch to sit in front of the fireplace. This place has a lot of charm!

    5
« the best, best western »

we loved this place, the room was perfect; clean, super comfortable beds, electric fireplace and everything that we needed was there. The staff was nice for real ! The room came with breakfast, it was the best hotel breakfast we've had in a long time, they had quiche ! and make your own waffles (turned out very fluffy and light) we also had supper at the bistro; yummy! We would stay there again and recommend to all. one more thing; when was the last time you saw live plants in your room (3 of them) and a selection of books, really makes you feel at home and welcomed

« Family Atmosphere in a Five Star Inn »

The owners of this BW have been here since about 1975. There's a family atmosphere embedded in a professional approach to inn-keeping. From the moment the welcoming doors automatically swing open, to the inviting front desk staff, the cosy atmosphere of the one-of-a-kind Tom's Place bar with double-sided fireplace reminiscent of a lodge, and the classy Stefan's Bistro dining room, you've never stayed in or visited anything quite like it. In addition to the comfortable and well appointed guest rooms, this inn has five Fantasy Suites catering to adults in a variety of romantic settings. It's a must for your next trip to Kingston, Ontario.

Welcoming staff, check in was easy. Room was clean and bigger than expected. We were able to adjust temp in room. Bathroom had larger size shower head that worked well. Room had a gas fireplace and a seating area. Free breakfast in the morning with a great selection of food. Great value.

    « O.K.for early risers!! »

Reserved well in advance for a 4 night stay. Given a claustrophobic room overlooking a dim stairwell and next to the laundry. Asked to be moved. Request granted. Same style room but overlooking parking lot and brighter. Rooms are rustic making them seem a bit dated. "Ambiant" fireplaces are electric so the room does not overheat. The bathroom is well appointed but I noticed some black mold on the bathtub tile. New grout is needed. Heat/A.C. is very quiet and works well. Housekeeping is very accommodating and service throughout the hotel was excellent. They offer a free buffet breakfast which had lots of choice but some of the items were salty and luke warm. It is totally self serve but attendants were helpful and friendly. I do not spend a lot of time sitting in my hotel rooms. Basically, I'm there to spend the night and get some sleep. The 1st morning, I was awakened at 5:50 a.m. by the sound of running water- maybe a neighbour's shower!! I was so annoyed, we considered cancelling the rest of our stay. Staff told us some people are working and just get up early. Hoping we would get new neighbours who were not early birds,we stayed. The next 3 mornings, we got to sleep 'til almost 7a.m. Would we return? Not a chance!

    « Numerous visits »

Very comfortable rooms - nice decor - friendly staff - good breakfast. Would stay again anytime. Only downside were the french fries at Tom's Place bar. Supposed to be "fresh cut" bot were obviously re-heats. Other than that 10/10

    « Impressed! »

We went to this hotel for my birthday weekend. Booked one of the fantasy suites and was concerned that it might be "cheesy". Much to our surprise, it was beautiful and classy. We had the Suzie Wong Suite. I can't vouch for the other fantasy suites. Both restaurants on site were very good! Only issue we had was with opening the door to our suite. The door was iffy and took several tries to get it open.

« hotel is nice and comfy »

stayed one night, outdoor pool was closing, room was magnificent, and comfortable The leased to third party restaurant, not so much for the included breakfast, as the server was extremely inattentive talking to one table for over 10 minutes while other customers are ignored. Food was good but my low service rating is for restaurant and not the hotel. Dinner is same restaurant is expensive, better choices in Kingston for food.

    3
    « Beds are rough »

Staff were great, nice rooms, fireplace was great for ambiance, although lights on same circuit, beds are as hard as sleeping on the floor. Wife had to make a pillow mattress on top of the regular one to be comfortable.

« Our stay at the Fireside Inn »

We always enjoy staying at this hotel, nice décor, good location, friendly staff, and we like both the restaurants. We have been to Kingston before, and we didn't consider staying anywhere else. My only observation to make is the menu in Tom's could be expanded to include more and varied offerings. A minor quibble.

    4
    « KINGSTON R'N'R »

I enjoy the personnel and I am consistently treated extremely well by all staff members. The facility would benefit greatly from some serious upgrades as much of it is outdated. The location is central to all local facilities and to the city in general. The translation is close and the downtown area is conveniently accessible. It is also nearby the university and serves my needs very well. I also benefit from the location being close to family residences.

« Great stay at Best Western »

    « Cozy and Friendly »

Attended a conference at a nearby hotel/conference centre. The hotel was fully booked. Stayed at the BW Fireside for the first time. A pleasant surprise! Staff were very friendly and efficient. Rooms are large and even have electric fireplaces. Complimentary breakfast was good. Their pub feels more like a cozy lodge than a typical hotel bar.

    4
    « Very cozy »

Was a lovely place for overnight stay only. I would not stay longer than overnight here, unless renovated further. Food/menus need updating. No elevators, long hallways - not recommended for anyone requiring a wheelchair or that are unable to climb stairs.

« Excellent bang for your buck! »

Exemplary hotel! Everything you want! Extremely clean, comfortable rooms, Customer service at its BEST! Bistro Stefan (steakhouse) comparable to a Fairmont meal!!!! Quite a few of the staff have worked here for years. Happy, well taken care of employees will always profit a business & this shows at The Best Western Fireside Inn. Joanne in Tom's Place & Matt in Bistro Stefan are AWESOME in their positions! Will definitely stay there again!

    « So Cozy »

Great atmosphere... Entire place is cozy. A must see and stay if you are in Kingston. If you love fireplaces this is a must. Lots of hides and stuffed animals and really good food. Try the bruschetta... It was great.

« Very comfortable with restaurant and breakfast included »

Comfortable, country styled rooms with fridge and fireplace. Clean and homey. I visit my daughter who is a university student in fourth year and this hotel has become our home away from home. Sometimes available thru airmiles.ca which is helpful! Convenience of 2 restaurants (casual one and more formal one). Stefan's Bistro has great prime rib.

    3
« Older hotel with good service »

The room we stayed in was a single queen with a pullout. The decor is dated and the rooms are dark although clean. The breakfast was excellent and better than most with a variety of choices and the food seemed of higher quality than many "included" breakfast hotels. In regard to the room, there was a moderately strong odour of chemical that was used to mask a tobacco / smoke smell. We would likely try another hotel when next staying in Kingston.

« Overnight at the Fireside »

We booked our hotel room, knowing we wanted to stop in Kingston to visit family, on our way back from Quebec. Found the hotel easily on Princess St., confused at first by the name of the in house restaurant that was also on the display. We arrived earlier than expected on Sunday of a long weekend. Our room was not ready, and we were invited to sit and wait on the patio by the outdoor pool. It was a beautiful afternoon to do so. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed, but luckily we had beer in the car, so grabbed brew and unwound from the drive at poolside. The room was ready within the hour. The 1st floor room with 2 double beds, fireplace was clean, comfortable. Bathroom a little short of space for personal items, but was also clean and adequate. Staff at the front desk were helpful and friendly.

« Excellent hotel, wish we could have stayed longer! »

Our family spent the night here during a recent trip from Toronto to Ottawa. We greatly enjoyed the hotel and our short stay in Kingston (Beautiful city!). We are a family of five and the room was very spacious, even with the roll away bed. The two queens were very comfortable to sleep in and the room was spotlessly clean. We loved the outdoor heated pool and pool side food and drink service. The rustic look of the hotel was charming and the complimentary breakfast was excellent. I would definitely stay here again, the only negative was that our roon had a very weak Wi-Fi signal, we had to go out in the hallway to get a usable signal.

    « Different than ordinary »

Stayed here for one night on the long wknd of September. 2 queen sized beds, couch and fireplace. Would be very comfy in the winter as the rooms remained me of a cottage or an old English library. The hotel is not modern style, old English in the standard room that we had which overlooked the hotel outdoor pool. Enjoyed the late afternoon at the pool, nice area has food service and tables outside. Did not use the bar or pub, but wish we had now after reading some reviews. Beds were comfortable, tv channels were quite static but did not bother to try and repair as tv was not that important. Did find our room in need of a bit more cleaning. The tv remote is fit in a "clean stand" but there was trash inside this little stand. Down at end of bed on the floor there was a discarded wrapper and bathroom had hair on the wall. Overall the room was clean and would stay here again, just bringing this to the attention of those whom may work there to pay a bit more attention to detail in the rooms when cleaning. Beds were comfortable, walk up to the 2nd floor so reserve a main floor room if you are unable to clean rooms. Buffet breakfast which was provided was a standard buffet continental style found in my hotels but again, the ambiance makes this hotel different than the rest. There is a grocery store right next door for snacks and drinks. Free parking and in room safe

« Good value for the moneky »

Clean, very friendly and helpful. Full breakfast. Big rooms. The bar was a great place to relax and feel cozy. The bartenders really like to chat with you if you want them too. My husband and I quite enjoyed that. The front desk went out of their way to make sure you were happy with everything and that you had everything you needed. I will go back for business and pleasure. We have a child in Queens and it's about 10 min from the University so this works perfectly.

« Pleasantly surprised with this last minute booking »

We had heard of this theme based hotel in Kingston but were unsure what to expect when we booked the Fireside inn at the last minute. We booked the hotel to be near the lake front and our Kingston Penetentiary tour. We arrived early and went for lunch at Tom's, the pub in the hotel. This was a great spot to unwind after our two hour drive from Ottawa and to connect with our friends. The comfy high back chairs, fireplace and cabin theme decorations made it easy to pass the time. The food was tasty pub fare. After our tour we checked into our rooms. These spacious rooms were some of their non theme based rooms. They were suites with couches, king beds and fireplaces. We were pleasantly surprised. The booking came with a breakfast buffet. This buffet was well stocked and fresh. All in all I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying overnight in Kingston even if you are not interested in "theme" rooms.

    « Warm and Cozy »

The Best Western Fireside is a unique hotel in Kingston's west end. Ten minutes from the 401 and easy to find. It is unique for the rooms, which has a gas fireplace fit into a bricked corner of the spacious room. The four poster king size bed is comfy, the room has thick crown moldings throughout, and, most importantly, the room was clean. Also, the decor of the property lends itself to walking out the front door on to a ski slope in Vermont. The two restaurants/bars are very well appointed. We had drinks and a light dinner in Tom's Place, set to feel like a hunting lodge. Wing back chairs and thick wooden tables were set against a signature fireplace and lent a warm ambience that was very inviting. Overall, the prices are about 20% more than I would have thought, but given the feel of the place, it is forgivable. Definitely where I would wan to stay again.

    « Friendly and Comfortable! »

We stayed here for one night after bringing our daughter to university. We booked the hotel using our air miles. Our room was a King Studio (not a themed room) and it had the largest jacuzzi tub I have ever seen in a hotel room. There was also a fireplace, seating area, two televisions and separate bedroom. The bathroom was spacious and clean. Robes were also provided. While we did not use the outdoor pool, it did look very nice. The advantage of this hotel is the exceptionally friendly staff, the free parking and breakfast included. The breakfast is quite diverse with fresh fruit, cereals, toast, yogurt, eggs, make your own waffles... The seating area is very nice and the staff is very attentive if you need anything.

They have a very good hot breakfast at this Inn. I only wish they had an elevator to help senior citizens get their luggage to their rooms. Fresh orange juice at the breakfast buffet would compliment the overall experience.

« Wonderful place to stay »

Loved staying at the Best Western Fireside Inn, Kingston. We were there on our way back from a trip down East and would have loved to stay longer. Everything, including the service, the rooms, the beds and the breakfast were top notch! Will definitely stay there again.

« Such a friendly, helpful, happy place »

This hotel is certainly excellent. The staff are so friendly and helpful and so happy. In talking with staff from the front desk, housekeeping and the breakfast area everyone says right away ...we love our jobs as the owner and bosses are great so we enjoy coming to work. What a wonderful testament A special thanks to Michelle who happily took my GPS that had quit and fixed it for me with a "my pleasure"; to the housekeeping staff who quickly and efficiently put our room back to pristine in minutes while chatting along with a smile; and the breakfast staff who made sure we were comfortable and had all we needed. You all made a stressful visit for a very ill KGH patient pleasant.

« "Wow" awesome Best Western »

My wife and I were down in Kingston Sept 2 to get my daughter settled in to her apartment as she is moving there for school. First check in was very fast and everyone was polite and cheery. It took maybe 5 min to check in and receive our vouchers for breakfast the next morning. We then went to our room with the king size bed and fireplace. The room was very clean and trust me I am picky . The bed had soft pillows and sheets and the room smelled fresh and clean. I have stayed in many hotels but this is ranked at number 1. The decor for the room and hotel is very lodge like. It is very cozy. We had dinner at Tom's place located in the hotel and the food was good and very reasonably priced. For breakfast we used our vouchers in the bistro also located in the hotel. There were scrambled eggs, sausage, home fries, baked beans, make your own waffles, cereals, croissants and muffins, fruit. Lots of drinks coffee, tea, juices. Lots of free parking. Check out was just as fast and friendly. I could not ask for a better experience. Best Western you have won me as a loyal customer and with my daughter in school now in Kingston you can be sure this is where I will be staying. Thank you Best Western.

« Would Not Stay Here! »

At first glance from the Outside, not what I was expecting since coming from a wonderful location in Perth. Entering the hotel it was dark and smelled like chlorine(from pool). Two front clerks for check in, and one was busy talking to 2 other staff members about personal things instead of catering to us for check. To find out the that person was a manager(.Hmmm!) There was feces on the outside of the toilet bowl, bed bugs, gym equipment not working well. I could go on but let's just say, I will NOT be returning.. The Breakfast was pretty good considering the hotel accommodations.

Spent a night here and we were very happy that we chose this place. Hotel is clean and staff are very friendly. My kids came in with me to check in and they couldn't stop talking about the staff behind the desk. She was very friendly and made a great impression on my kids. Room was clean and the fireplace was a nice touch. Breakfast in the morning was great. Lots of hot food to choose from. I will definatley come back to this hotel.

    « Relaxing Lodging »

Two nights for a single Queen room in a quaint hotel in early July, 2016. Loved the decor of the room with fireplace, relaxing beverage and evening meal in the lounge, great setting for breakfast. Quiet time at the pool. Comfortable bed. We were in Kingston for a wedding at a busy time so the room charge at $179 + HSTper night was higher than we usually like to pay. Very friendly receptionist.

    « Flights of Fantasy »

This exceeded my expectations. We booked the Flights of Fantasy suite for fun. We'd originally thought we'd book the Lord and Lady one but it was taken. We just had a really fun, relaxing time. We used the pool, ate at Bistro Stefan - which was pretty good - and had a cup of tea at Tom's Place.

« Great Hotel and staff! »

I surprised my husband with a weekend in the Tranquility Base Suite! He was so surprised and it was an amazing adventure!!! Included with the package was room service breakfast (your choice of 4-5 different ones), sparkling wine and chocolate covered strawberries. The room - firstly, all of the suites have their own common hallway that has beautiful decor and music piped in!! Then when you walk into your suite and you're blown away. Our room was absolutely amazing!! Huge! Had a hot tub for 2, loads of space, a fantastic bathroom, too many TVs ( even has one in the bathroom haha) and amazing decor! The hotel - very cute! The pool outside definitely looks bigger in the pictures but it's large enough for the number of people using it! You can even order food while at the pool! Very clean, loved the charm! The restaurants - there are 2 right in the hotel. We went to Tom's Place both nights and loved the staff and the food. The prime rib was amazing! It's a little expensive for what you get however the convenience, ambiance and staff make it a must! The staff - I can't say enough about the staff at the Fireside Inn. Everyone we met in the halls had huge smiles as we walked by, the front desk staff were absolutely the best I've ever seen! Friendly, efficient, knowledgable, and so helpful with any questions we had. I bragged to my daughter about the amazing hotel and she got me to book a different suite for her and her husband! My husband and I loved the experience and we will definitely be back to try the other suites! Thank you for taking pride in the hotel and the top notch customer service you all provide! It's definitely a hotel we will return too.

« Fantasy suites are surprisingly excellent! »

We've been visiting the Fantasy Suites for nearly 20 years. While they're a bit dated now, the prices have been reduced so they're excellent values. Almost surely the biggest and probably one of the best hotel rooms you'll ever stay in. You wouldn't suspect that from the modest exterior of the hotel or the very plain lobby and hallways. This isn't a 5-star hotel, but the Fantasy Suites make up for that!

    3
    « 70's Style hotel.. Retro vibe »

My first impression the hotel caters to a senior clientele I found the hotel to very dated in styling. However It was very clean and the service was excellent. The Buffet was very basic with selection charging $12.95 for that seems high. It was complimentary for hotel guests. The pool area was large no outside hot tub..

    « Very nice »

Stayed here for a night with my family. Very clean rooms, extremely comfortable beds. Hotel has pool and gym, which I didn't try, and breakfast buffet that some rooms come with. Our room had a fireplace and very "fireside"-y feel to it. Recommended place.

    « Service with a smile »

This was our second time staying at this Inn. I was pleasantly surprised the first time and this time they confirmed to me that they are actually that good. It started with the reservation and the fact that we needed 2 rooms for Friday and Saturday. Unfortunately Saturday was sold out. That being said a week before we were heading out they called to inform us of a cancellation, and then the day before the second room came available. Then upon arrival they realized their was a price difference so the young lady made sure everything was correct. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and ready at 12:30 in the afternoon. We stopped in at their little pub and had a great lunch. The lady taking care of us made sure that food allergies were addressed, and then off we went. Breakfast in the morning was included, and it was well presented. Unfortunately no bacon, but maybe next time. Both nights went great, and with the Tragically Hip Concert in town that weekend the property was actually very quiet. First stop next time as well.

I loved the hotel , the people and the food . The only thing I would suggest is more gluten free options as one of our party struggled a little bit with options but for the rest of us the food was lovely. Loved the pool and Toms lounge .

Bedding in particular was very comfortable. Fireplace and in-room TV v. nice. Hassle-free check-in and check-out. Did not use the pool but it looked good. Nice staff and good breakfast buffet. In-room coffee was average; perhaps higher quality grounds could be used.

The Fireside continues to be a first-rate hotel. The breakfast which is included is the best ever. Tom's place is a 10. The service ,the ambience, and the food are terrific. The outdoor pool is always clean and has lots of patio furniture. An all round lovely place to spend a night or two.

« Visiting Son at Queens »

We've stayed at the Best Western Fireside at least 3 times while moving our son to Queens and visiting him. The staff has always been professional and friendly, and the rooms have always been clean. We also like that we can bring our small dog along for the visit.

    « Worth the price »

Went there to do a thousand island cruise and used air miles points to pay for room. Brought another couple who paid $185.00 for one night. A little pricey to my standards, but worth the price. Rooms were spacious and clean with a warm ambience. We went to Red Lobster for dinner which was good. Later we went to the pool and had drinks on the patio. Stacey our waitress was very attentive to everyone and everything. We stayed in the middle section on the first floor. The buffet breakfast was good and plentiful.

    « Fireside Inn Great! »

Friendly staff, nice facilities, good food, good value. We could be served by the pool which was very nice. The room was very comfortable and clean. A choice of two types of restaurants for dining was very good to have. The pool itself was clean and inviting. Lots of very easy access, free parking.

« An outstanding member of the BW Brand »

Easily located, convenient, with plenty of free parking. Reception and checkout were both efficient, fast, friendly and welcoming. The reception staff know how to make loyalty clients feel valued and respected. The room (on the second floor) was clean and comfortable, with all the expected amenities, including free wifi and a very pleasant, well-presented complimentary hot breakfast buffet. The hotel offers a private outdoor pool and onsite restaurant. All BW Plus establishments should be like this one!!!!

« Charming, quiet and great value. »

We had an excellent stay at this unique and charming Inn. Friendly, helpful staff, very clean room, pleasant decor and very quiet. The breakfast buffet was extensive and the dining area was comfortable, clean and very nice relaxing decor.

    « Clean, comfortable hotel »

Stayed for two nights while in Kingston. Room was large, loved the fireplace and it would be great to use on cooler nights. Entire room was very clean. Adjoining rooms are not soundproof and you can hear everything going on. It wasn't a problem for us, but you could hear the kid playing in the room next door. Pool outside was nice, gardening was a very nice touch. Tom's Place is a nice touch to grab a drink or dinner. Breakfast was crazy busy but we were able to get a seat. Would definitely stay here again if in Kingston!

« Very Unusual Hotel with decor from the past. »

This Best Western is like stepping back in time. The 4 poster bed & fireplace were nice. The room was clean & the bed was comfortable. The staff were very helpful & someone took my picture sitting on an unusual sofa in the lobby. We ate at Tom's Place in the hotel & had good pub food.

    « 2 Night Stay »

Accommodations with hot tub and fireplace was good. Had strawberries and wine delivered to our room both nights. Breakfast was also included. Air conditioner noisy. Lounge/bar was busy the 1st. night, so service was very slow.

« A lot more hotel than we expected »

Away for a few days again. We booked this hotel based on preview reviews and we weren't disappointed, We had a King bed (a 4 poster) room with a fireplace. It was quite large with a view of the pool. There is free parking, wi fi (quite fast and easy to log into) and two on site restaurants. It is located about a 10 minute drive from downtown about 5 min off the 401. The full hot breakfast included scrambled eggs that were not rubber like is often the case at other hotels. The pool is outdoors and access with your room key. There is no spa but the pool has table service from the kitchen. We had one dinner in the restaurant with was very good and reasonably priced. The staff was friendly and accomodating. If you are in Kingston, I would recommend this hotel.

« The name says it all »

While some have said this place needs updating, I say it looks a feels exactly the way a "fireside Inn" would look and feel. The rooms are nice and clean. Bathrooms are not tiny bit also not spa like, just a bathroom (looked recently update for those that want that experience). The restaurants Tom's Place was great, not too expensive with good sided portions. But the ambiance of an old trapper cabin and the big wing back chairs made my family and I very welcome. The staff in the restaurants and hotel were all very helpful and pleasant to deal with. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and we plan to return. If your are looking for a cold cookie cutter contemporary hotel this one likely isn't for you but if you want a clean country Inn feel in the heart of the city give it a try, I don't think you will be disappointed.

    « Comfort & great meal »

I always stay at this hotel , you can get a great clean comfortable bed and i nice restaurant in the same location . Hotel is located 5 minutes to the 401 and within walking distance to many amenities. I would recommenced the prime rib and apple crisp in the hotel restaurant .

    « Nice stsy »

My family and I stayed at this facility for a night. Our room was on the second floor. This is an older yeah charming facility with friendly staff. We enjoyed the outdoor pool and patio. We even had dinner on the patio. The room was comfortable and clean, yet the AC was a bit noisy and the Wi-Fi was slow.

    « 25 th anniversary »

This was our fist time at this Best Western but not our last. We read up on it on tripadvisor and the reviews speak for themselves, we had a very nice standard room , very comfortable and a very friendly and helpful staff. We had lunch by the pool with great service and were given ideas about where to go in Kingston. Then we had an excellent dinner at Stephan Bistr, definetly a 5 star. I love lobster tail and it was perfect. Fireside Inn should be very proud of there staff, and in particular when at Stephan's we were looked after by Margaret and she went out of her way to make our evening special, so thanks again for that. All and all thanks to everybody for making our special day special. It will not be forgotten.

    « Near or far »

Seems no matter where I stay at BW I can count on great beds, good value and a pleasant, refreshing stay.I'm not sure you can expect much more from an accommodation and added to that this time was access to really good food.

« Well situated and clean »

Hotel is very well located. A short drive from downtown Kingston. Also it was an easy hop on/off the 401 for a late night arrival. Hotel is well taken care of and clean. Breakfast was pretty typical but well presented (cereal, yogurt, toast, sausage, eggs, make-yourself-waffles, etc). Staff was very friendly and accommodating.

« Retro with Comfort and a Great Breakfast »

Two level hotel -- looks like it was originally a swiss themed hotel of the 70s. The room was clean and spacious with some nice touches like a loveseat. The bed was comfortable. There was a nice widescreen tv. Wifi was good and we appreciated having the small fridge. There are some retro reminders including a fireplace and a charming pine desk and bed frame. A mainfloor bistro is the location of an exceptionally good breakfast buffet. I thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor pool. Overall seemed to have a quiet, mature clientele. Would stay here again.

    « Overnight stay »

The exterior of the hotel was attractive.I found the reception area rather dark, small and claustrophobic. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The room was clean and comfortable.I thought the placement of the coffee maker in the bathroom was unappetizing. It could have been placed on the desk. The fireplace in the room was nice.Breakfast was good.

« Very friendly, aim to please hotel experience »

Stayed two nights, very clean and quiet. Every single employee went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Décor a bit outdated (perhaps and American hotel's perspective of Canada - pine furniture everywhere, deer and mooseheads, wooden rooster carvings etc. , but still clean and perfectly adequate. Good quality sheets and comfortable beds with lots of pillows. Plan to sit outside by the pool and garden and enjoy a relaxing drink from the bar service. Handy, easy to find location.

« Once again, enjoyed our stay »

When we first got to our room we were not expecting to have our own quiet hallway with only 4 suites down this hall, with music piped in. The regular hall didn't have music. Then we figured out where our room was! We in the Susie Wong room, we had our own stairs. If you have a physical handicap, it will not do. We enjoyed the room and the extra little touches that was provided. This was our second time at this hotel. We will be back.

    « Wonderful little hotel »

We stayed 2 nights in a Standard King room with a fireplace at the Best Western Fireside Inn. It was an incredibly comfortable bed, the bathroom was spotless and the room overall was wonderful! Employees at this hotel are very friendly and helpful. We ate at Bistro Stefan...surf and turf...it was delicious!! The only thing we found negative were thin walls (heard people in hallways) and a loud air conditioner. We were exhausted from busy days so we still slept comfortably. Thank you Best Western we will definitely visit again!!

« Best staff you can get »

We came from Toronto directly after our wedding, arriving at 1:30am instead of the planned 11pm. We stayed 2 nights and moved onto Gananoque, but realised we would need one more night on the way back. We arrived late that night as well and slept through breakfast the next morning. We didn't take advantage of the amenities, and next time we'd probably choose something closer to the downtown attractions, so there was a potential that we could have viewed this hotel from a grumpy perspective. But the staff, the staff, the staff is why I rate this place as excellent. Every individual we encountered was warm, friendly, eager to be of assistance, polite, respectful, knowledgeable, I could go on. Thanks so much for being our happy honeymoon facilitators! The wine and strawberries in the room with room service breakfast the next day was perfect, the big beautiful soft bed was a dream, the fireplace and view of the pool was appreciated. The little fridge for our wine and the safe for our wedding cards were really helpful. The breakfast buffet was perfect. But the staff is tops!

« Breakfast can be better »

The hotel looks good, and the bistro nice too The rooms are clean and there is more than enough room. Breakfast was not what I expected. Can definitely better with warm eggs and warm croissants instead of cold. Staff was friendly. We stay there for 2 nights and we didn't want them to clean our bed in between, but they make it smooth again, which we liked.

    « Like a mini resort »

Great place to stay. Spotless hotel, friendly staff, lovely pool and garden area. Tom's place has very tasty menu. Breakfast always fresh. Have stayed here many times. Very close to shopping and waterfront. Great location.. Minutes away from Hwy. 401 and Via Rail Station.

« great stay at the Best Western Fireside in Kingston »

We recently stayed at the Fireside and it was a return visit. Last time was probably 8 years ago. It's an older hotel but looks well kept, clean and fresh. Although it's not something I'm into the option for a "theme" room is cool. The pool looked nice, we opted not to use it only because there was a lot of kids at the time. The restaurant had good food and prices are on par with what you'd expect. Staff were friendly and help, check in-out was quick and smooth. Well located and is good value, we'd go back.

    5
« Perfect service! Excellent rooms! Nice foods! »

That's really a nice stay at Best Western! I got my room updated without any charge, though that was my mistake! And we love the dinner at your hotel, especially the service, as well as the beef steak! In one word, staying in this hotel is really a treat to me and all my family. Thank you so much! You make my trip no regret at all!

    5
« Very well established place! »

Just wanna say this is the most maintained hotel I've been to with very well maintained rooms and would definitely stay there again! The locations is not bad, you have a bus terminal nearby and not far from the distance to Wolfe Ferry if anyone wants to access to the US side and the other side of Hwy 401.

    « Consistency is a Hallmark »

We have stayed at this property many times. In fact, the BW Fireside is our first choice when travelling to Kingston. What it gives up for not being on the waterfront it makes up for in its being consistently excellent. Rooms are always clean, amenities and fixtures are always in good working order, front desk staff is efficient and friendly as are the breakfast staff and Tom's place staff. The grounds are immaculate.

    4
    « 2 Night Stay »

We stayed at the Fireside Inn for two nights on our Canada and US driving tour. It was easy to find coming off Highway 2 and very convenintly located for the city. Checking in was very easy. It did not affect us but for note there is no lift so if you have problems carrying bags upstairs it may be worthwhile requesting rooms on the ground floor. Our rooms were superb one had a four poster bed, plenty of space, clean and an excellent bathroom. Breakfast was served in the french restaurant and was of very good quality. We had dinner both nights in the bar area, which is done out like an old log cabin and was a nice layout. The food was great and the service excellent, I cannot fault our stay and would not hesitate to recommend this hotel for anyone staying in the area.

    5
« 1st stay in Kingston and at the BW Fireside »

As it states in the title, it was my first stay in a hotel in Kingston and at the Fireside. The staff was very welcoming, the hotel looked great, it looked like an old hotel, I mean that in a good way. It looked like a very well and long established hotel. I was lucky to be upgraded to a whirlpool suite. Wow, it was a huge room. The lounge/bar looked great, and the food was excellent. I always stay at BW hotels as and when I can, and this hotel is definitely in my list of favorite hotels. I will definitely be back.

« Great night at the Fireside »

This is our second time at the Fireside Best Western, everytime has been a great experience. The room is very nice and clean, nice decor and nice comfy bed. The bar and restaurant is great, food was very good and nice bar as well. You get a nice buffet breakfast as well.

« One of my favourite places to stay in Kingston »

Best Westerns are usually my first choice, and the Best Western Fireside in Kingston is no exception. The rooms are always very nice at this particular location. They are spacious, clean and comfortable and I think they all have a fireplace. There is free Wi-Fi internet. My most recent stay was at the end of May, 2016. The weather was quite hot but the pool didn't even appear to be close to opening, so although we understood it was a bit early we were disappointed with that. The hotel itself is close to shopping (including the outlet mall) and a quick drive to the downtown waterfront area and historic sites. Staff were informative and friendly and advised us where the best places to park would be. The restaurant's food is excellent, albeit a bit expensive so we opted to eat in the lounge. During the week the lounge atmosphere is second to none however I imagine it could be loud on the weekends. We were NOT thrilled with the free breakfast. I love to have waffles with blueberries or raspberries on top and the typical available melon concoction that most hotels offer was not ripe or tasty. I think because everything about the hotel makes you feel like you are in a top quality place you just expect a little bit better quality breakfast. We were only intending to stay one night as we were travelling to a destination with some time restrictions however once we were there a little while easily decided to spend an extra night. It's just that kind of place! :) We opted out from breakfast the second day though. I didn't use any other facilities this time so can't comment upon those, but in general the hotel continues to be one of my favourite stops when travelling between Nova Scotia and Ontario and we will definitely return.

« Excellent Hotel Encourages me to Return. »

First time I attended this hotel. Definitely will return. Room comes with a mini fridge and fireplace. Full buffet breakfast is a nice change. Rooms are very nicely decorated. Peaceful and relaxing decor. Look for rooms closer to the front of the hotel. Restaurant is excellent. Quality of service is excellent. Genuinely friendly.

    « Best so far »

Last year we stayed at 14 Best Western Hotels on our way to the Grand Canyon so we have some experience with Best Western Hotels. This one was one of the best. The staff were excellent and the restaurant offered great variety. The rooms were a little small but the location was close to everything. If you are a walker, it is only a couple of kilometres to Old Town.

« best weekend getaway ever! »

We meet our friends from Ireland and New York every year. This year we chose Kingston and picked the Best Western Fireside hotel. It did not disappoint. From the front desk, to the bar, to the diningroom we were met with helpful, genuinely friendly and courteous staff. Our rooms were lovely, fresh and spotlessly clean. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was very charming and very clean throughout. We had a lovely dinner in the bistro diningroom on our first night there. The food was excellent and so was the service. We finished the evening with drinks in the really cozy bar. A full breakfast buffet was included in our room rate. It was an excellent breakfast and very well laid out. Served in the lovely diningroom. We had drinks and dinner in the bar last night and again the food was excellent. The pool area is also lovely. We sat out and enjoyed our early morning coffee there. I would like to thank the management for running a hotel the way hotels should be run. Its hard to find these days. We have already decided that we will be meeting there again next year. And perhaps my husband and I will come for a winter weekend getaway too. Your guests in room 102, June 17, 18, 19, 2016.

    « Nice charm »

We enjoyed the rustic charm of this Inn. Very cute place. Hot/cold breakfast always appreciated. Restaurants on site very quaint. Wish we had time to enjoy the pool. Easy driving distance to everything Kingston has to offer. Seems a bit pricey.

« Great, comfortable stay but could use some updates. »

I have been on the road travelling so I was looking for a quiet place to stay. The service was great. The room was comfortable, quiet and exactly what I was looking for... except I was on the 2nd floor and I had quite a bit of luggage. I was not impressed there was not an elevator. I had a suite and loved the room. It had everything you needed.

    3
« Could be freshened up »

The room was a comfortable size but for $170 a night I would expect ceilings without patched plaster and brighter bulbs in the lamps The pictures on the walls were very sun faded. The bathroom was very tiny. The halls were also very tired. The Hotel was on a very busy strip convenient to lots of restaurants and activities. the room was quiet, set away in the back. There was a pub style restaurant on the premises with very good food.

    3
« Not as good as we hoped »

Stayed for one night passing through, rooms could do with an upgrade, tiny bathroom, had to call reception for tea although they had coffee. Toms Place was ok for a drink but food was pretty dire as was the service. Waitress was more intent on regaling the others with her story about a temperamental guest. Breakfast was good. If in doubt, choose a hotel down on the waterfront. Looked a good area with nice restaurants around it.

    4
« Great Stay Good Value for Money »

The hotel room and common areas are exceptionally clean and well kept. Everything is acceptably up to date. The Bar/Lounge is comfortable and you can get a drink or pub fare for a descent price. The Bistro is priced at the high end but the food was very good. The buffet breakfast was excellent with something for everyone. Staff are very courteous and eager to please.

    4
    « Delicious steak »

Staff were friendly and efficient, service was quick. Lovely bonus was the surprise of "Amuse bouchée " from the chef. It was a mouthful of delightful rare beef with capers on a crisp tiny piece of toast. Crunchy and flavoursome. Very nice with our wine while we waited for our meal. Log fire added to the atmosphere. Definitely worth a return visit.

    4
    « Excellent! »

Stayed here last week whilst visiting relatives near by and liked it so much we changed our plans and stayed longer! Really good sized, clean rooms with all you would expect. Breakfast was ok but defiantly not enough fruit. The beans were really bad and no bacon! The bar and its staff were excellent, particularly Patrick.

    5
« Another awesome stay at the Fireside »

Room was clean, as advertised. Staff were exceptionally friendly especially the front desk and the breakfast crew. Pet friendly - travelled with our dog and received a nice welcome gift which included cookies and "poop bags" - a very nice touch for our stay. Have stayed a few times at this location and have never been disappointed.

    « Returning after years. »

We were very pleased with everything about the hotel. We hadn't stayed there for some time but will be returning. The hotel is a very quick drive to downtown. Their pet policy is one of the best in the city.

    5
    « wonderful stay »

Our stay was wonderful as usual! Fantastic staff, great location & great atmosphere. You can't go wrong. Great for a family stay or for couples you just want to escape for the weekend. Always greeted with a smile by Hailey the Front Manager.

« Clean, but a long way from downtown and the lake »

We spent two nights here, booked by our travel agent. The hotel is clean, the staff helpful and pleasant, breakfast was included and was ok, but it is a long way from Kingston downtown and the waterfront. If you haven't got a car then it's an hour's brisk walk, a bus ride or taxi. Not recommended for people who want to access Kingston's vibrant tourist area.

    4
« Stayed in the Rolls Royce fantasy suite »

This is a very large room with a London vibe. Sleeping in an old Rolls Royce is a novel idea but as a bed it is not very big. We certainly enjoyed the evening and appreciated all of the fine touches the hotel puts into the room. The fantasy suites are pretty neat all in all and enhance the stay for sure.

    4
    « Fantasy suites... Creepy »

Stayed here on business for one night. I was pleasantly surprised when I was upgraded to one of their fantasy suites. The hotel seemed pretty normal until I got the fantasy hall. Very weird decoration and a weird vibe. Got into my room... My bed was literally a car. Room was super dated and the lighting was not good at all. The room actually gave me the creeps which is very unusual for me. The room's novelty wore off in about 5 minutes and I had to get out of there. It was too weird for me. Thanked them for the upgrade but switched back to a regular room and tried to forget what I had seen.

« Best Western Fireside Inn Kingston »

This hotel offers exceptional value. It is conveniently located in Kingston, The rooms are clean and homey. The staff are extremely friendly and the restaurant is exceptional. I stay at this hotel whenever I stay in Kingston.

    5
    « Great Place »

Great Hotel ! Although you can see the curve in the floor as you walk down the hallway and our room door didn't quite open smoothly because of the slant, and a crack in the bathroom sink, it still is a lovely hotel, with clean rooms, comfy bed, and a great starter breakfast.

    5
    « Great trip »

We had a wonderful time. It was a family retreat and we stayed here 2 nights. The room had 2 queen sized beds, refrigerator, and a fireplace (which added a nice touch). The breakfast was included and was very good. The hotel has an outdoor pool, but it was a bit cold to swim. The staff was very nice and friendly. It was a good stay.

    5
« Stay at Fireside Inn Kingston, Ontario »

Stayed here for 3 nights while I explored the historical sights of Kingston. I found the place a charming and friendly hotel. The location was only 2.5 miles from the Waterfront. They have a free and spacious parking lot. Bistro Stephan is excellent and the staff were exceptional. I enjoyed their lighted seafood entrees though most seemed to choose steaks and hearty fares. I was upgraded to a Jacuzzi room on 2nd floor. The extra space & amenities my visit much more enjoyable. The exercise room on the second floor was well maintained and had a good view of the pool area. t has an upper body machine as well as the standard treadmills. Pool area was pleasant & clean with several umbrella tables to enjoy drinks under. Overall a nice hotel, well located and a very enjoyable stay.

    « Fantasy suite »

The Fireside Inn was a very nice place to stay. Kingston was an overnight stop for us on our way Montreal to Niagara Falls. Kingston is right on the water and the town was going through some construction pains but I wish we had planned two nights instead of one. The staff at the hotel was wonderful. When we arrived the person who took my reservation earlier had failed to state I wanted a room with a jacuzzi but that was not a problem because the girl at the front desk upgraded us to one of their largest executive suites with a jacuzzi. There was a water pressure problem so they moved us to one of their fantasy suites- The Suzie Wong Suite. It was beautiful. The Jacuzzi was huge and the whole suite had several nice places to sit and enjoy. The restaurants in the Inn were quite good. The complimentary breakfast was good ambiance wise, however the food choices were'nt as good as other Best Westerns. If we were to stay again we would stay in a Fantasy Suite. It is not on the water front however it is a short driving distance to the water front. Best Western is our go to place when we are not sure of where we want to stay because most of the time they are very clean. I think it should be rated Best Western Plus but because there are no elevators it is rated as a standard Best Western.

« Monarchist Mary's review of Kingston's Best Western Fireside Inn »

The Best Western Fireside Inn is a charming and friendly hotel, well located with free parking. Bistro Stephan is excellent and the staff were exceptional. However, corridors to the rooms were so long and narrow as to be claustrophobic. Two people cannot walk side by side. The staff were very nice, friendly and helpful. The bathroom tub needs resurfacing. The rooms are exceptionally large and quiet. A nice big parking lot. Pool area was pleasant although dandelions on the grassed area need weeding. Overall a nice good hotel, well located and a very enjoyable stay.

    5
« Excellent value and a great experience »

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay at the hotel. If you have the in-room choice of breakfast, I recommend it. Our breakfast was delivered to our room on time, still warm and the quality of the breakfast was amazing. We attended a comedy show at Absolute Comedy just beside the hotel. Nice that it was so close by. The restaurants located in the hotel, Tom's and Bistro Stefan have a lovely atmosphere and I would also recommend them. We'll be back to this hotel again.

    4
« Comfortable place to stay »

Best Western Fireside Inn, Kingston is a nice place to stay for business and pleasure. Rooms are comfortable if you enjoy a rustic motif however it does appear it hasn't had any upgrades for some years. Still a relaxing place to stay; hotel staff are friendly & helpful and restaurant staff are pleasant and efficient.

    5
    « Wedding »

My husband and I booked the Renaissance room...it was beautiful. We had it for 2 nights. Lots of space for all of the bridal party to get ready and great ambiance for taking pictures The staff was very courteous, the rooms very clean. The jacuzzi was extremely relaxing the night before the big day.

    4
    « Nice Hotel »

We loved the decor and different themes at the Fireside Inn. Service in all areas was excellent, with friendly staff from the front desk to the breakfast buffet. Room was large and generally clean and quiet. No extra blanket and some old items (e.g. Old heater) in the room would be minor drawbacks. Breakfast was very good and overall we were happy with our stay.

    « ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! »

I have stayed at this hotel during my last 3 trips to Kingston. I am an annual visitor. When I visit Kingston, I stay for 4 days just for a nice getaway. I love everything about this hotel. Friendly staff, clean rooms, very cozy, waaaay comfy "poofy" beds, great on- site dining, and close to just about anywhere you want to go. And ample free parking! The beds are so comfortable, it's just amazing! And the breakfast buffet is a nice bonus. Lovely, relaxed atmosphere. Tom's Place is especially fun for a cocktail in front of the fireplace, a light tavern meal and trivia cards on all the tables. Just lots of fun. And did I mention the Oyster Bar on Friday night's? FANTASTIC! Love you Kingston Best Western, you're the best! See ya again next year!

The location was very easy to find in a stranger city. It was close to shopping and close to main thoroughfares. We met very friendly people who were attending the same event in Kingston as we were. The in room fire place added to the coziness of the room' I wouls choose this hotel again if I were returning to Kingston

« How I stay at est Western Hotel on my stay in Kingston »

I always stay at Best Western Fire Inn, Kingston, because of the restaurant and there very good choice of dinner items and specials. They have a great helping staff all over the hotel. My check in experience is always taken care of in a quick and helpful way.

    « Absolutely Delightful ! »

We had to go to Kingston in April and booked into this hotel as it was close to the venue we were attending. I had not stayed with the Best Western before but thought it was a safe choice. Were we pleasantly surprised ! It was a great stay - the accommodations were so well done, like going to your Auntie's house . Cozy wallpaper, such remarkable detail in the workmanship, solid poster beds, room larger than we are used to for a very reasonable price. The dining room and bar are so welcoming and the staff fantastic ! The place is so clean and well kept, with such a cozy, welcoming atmosphere, I can't wait to find a reason to go back to Kingston. We didn't stay in a theme room but a staff member gave us a peek of a vacant room. Unbelievable !

« Awesome service, great room. »

Lady that checked us in (Hayley) was super nice, very friendly, very helpful with all our questions about getting downtown (10 minutes away). The room was superb - long with a couch at one end, tv, bed - room for a desk and there were even books in the room...the bathroom was at the opposite end which kept it a little more private than normal. Lovely room, clean, quiet, comfortable. Highly recommended !!!

The Fireside in Kingston is our go to getaway hotel, always a great experience. The room is always clean, no surprises. Always a nice touch is the fireplace. Had a good nights sleep very comfortable bed. The best hotel buffet breakfast anywhere. We will be back.

    « Amazing HOTEL Experience »

Not just for a Best Western, but for any hotel in general...The Fireside Best Western was absolutely wonderful. The room was spacious, clean, and cozy...and we loved the decor. The bar was SO beautiful and rustic...we were shocked at how amazing it was! The service was amazing and everyone was incredibly kind and generous with helping us at every turn. They even gave a treat bag for our dog that had cookies and poop bags. An amazing overall time and we will 100% be coming here (and only here) when we travel to Kingston!!

« Base of Tranquility Fantasy Suite »

This is such a cool room. You have a small entrance way and then you walk in to a room transformed in to outer space with moon rock and your very own Spaceship to sleep in. We had a complimentary breakfast sent to the room in the morning and we're greeted with chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of champagne. Great way to spend a night with someone you love.

    « Clean rooms! »

The rooms were very clean, and the beds very comfy. There is an electric fireplace in the room which is a plus. Breakfast was included, eggs, sausage, beans, hash browns, waffles, fruit, cereal, yogurt.....and more. The only thing we missed, is there is no lobby to hang out in.

« Pleasant and Well Located »

The Best Western Fireside Inn, Kingston, Ontario, offers a pleasant, quiet and comfortable stay in a well located area near the Queen's University campus. The breakfast included is an ample spread with lots of choices.

    « Great place »

Met a girlfriend there for a nice relaxing night away. Front staff was wonderful. Let us check in early and offered express checkout. Breakfast was included. Great food, could have had some more fruit but we didn't go down till almost 10:00. We sat chatting for almost an hour and no one rushed us out. Very friendly

    « Country Cabin »

A very pleasant stay. The room included a fireplace and lots of chunky pine furniture. King bed was a little hard for my liking but this would be my only concern. The breakfast buffet was nicely presented and offered in a warm cozy space.

« Pretty cheesy, but clean enough. »

I've stayed here about 10 times over a 5 year period. - Hotel fixtures and decor are very dated. "Country cabin" theme from the early 90's which is really just an excuse for shoddy amateur carpentry. - Breakfast is below average quality. - Some rooms offer no protection from adjacent rooms sound. Can hear conversations and TV even at moderate volumes. + Rooms are all large + Staff seem adequate + No issues with cleanliness

« Comfortable place to stay »

We ended up with a first floor room towards the back of the hotel. The rooms are large, and ours had a fireplace, fridge, two double beds, a small couch, desk, and a large flat screen tv. Our first night was very peaceful and quiet. The second night we had heavy-footed neighbours in the room above us who kept us up until the early hours. Breakfast was good, a decent selection. There were hot and cold items (sausage, corn beef hash, home fries, baked beans, oatmeal, waffles cereal, toast pastries, scrambled and hard-boiled eggs, fruit salad, yogurt, etc). Located only a few minutes drive from downtown. Overall a comfortable place to stay. I would return again if ever in the area.

    « You've Got To Stay Here! »

I stayed in one of the themed rooms called Tranquility Base. You get to sleep in your very own moon lander and the three storey room makes you feel like you are in space. This is perfect for the nerd in all of us. The room was clean and the free bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries were a very nice touch. The food is great (except for the steak I had for breakfast the second morning. It was inedible). But I highly recommend the corned beef hash! The staff are exceptional and really helped make my stay even better. If you need anything just ask for Alec, Maitlyn or Linda. But everyone there is amazing and will make sure you have everything you need, even directions and suggestions of what to do in the city. I don't think I'll ever be able to stay at a normal hotel again!

« Stay for the Johnny Reid Concert »

Always an excellent stay. We have been staying at this particular BW on and off for the last 30 years. We find it has a very relaxing atmosphere catering mostly to couples. Tom's Place being our favorite lounge. We only wish it would stay open a little later after a return from concert, it was closing at 11:00

    « Great stay »

Stayed here for a one night getaway. We booked a Jacuzzi suite, which was perfect. The room was clean, functional, well maintained - separate bedroom with huge four poster bed, TV, wall safe; bathroom with shower; bar sink area; living room with leather (leatherette?) couch, huge Jacuzzi, TV, fridge, desk, fireplace. Lots of lighting options. The décor is ... different lol. Rustic? But don't let it fool you, there is nothing "old and worn". We had dinner at Stefan's and coffee and dessert at Tom's place. The food at Stefan's was good, but nothing super special. We also had the breakfast buffet there. I enjoyed the atmosphere at Tom's. It was nice to have both options. Service at hotel and restaurants was impeccable. Would definitely come here again and highly recommend it.

« What a nice surprise! We will definitely be back! »

Had never stayed at BW Fireside Inn before but from now on will try to book it first! Totally reasonable price, especially considering the delicious hot breakfast in a.m. Great breakfast host staff and caring and personable front desk staff. Was blown away by the cleanliness of the hotel room and bathroom. Have stayed at new hotels that did not come close to having such thorough cleaning. Husband has bad back but woke up saying he had not slept that well in years, the mattress was that comfortable. Yay for Best Western Fireside Inn!

    « Great stay - pleasantly surprised! »

I wouldn't expect a best western to be anything other than an average chain hotel but I think this one bucks the trend. Service was great at front desk and our room was lovely - clean, spacious and the fire just gives it that something above your standard chain hotel! Apparently they have fantasy rooms too but can only speculate as to what they might be! Decided to eat in as there are two restaurants to choose from and we chose Toms Place as it had a lovely old style country feel. Food and service was good - dont expect fine dining but no complaints at all. Breakfast the next morning was also good - more choice than in a lot of US hotels. I can see why this place is no 1 in Kingston.

« Clean cozy and rustic »

Had a room for the night while visiting family. The room was large and had a big 4 poster bed which was really comfortable. The two places to eat in on site were quite busy but we did not have dinner there as we were attending an event. Check in was easy and staff was friendly. The place was clean, and our bathroom was newish. Some painting was being done. We had breakfast the next morning and while pretty standard the food was ok. We left and were a half hour away when I realized that my ipad was still at the hotel, where I had left it in the business office when I checked in for our flights. I called the hotel and a staff member literally put the phone down ran up to the business office and found it. Only complaint, no elevator for those who need it.

Loved the fire place in the room and all the decorations it feels like home. The breakfast was very well presented and very good. Lots of parking and a good location close to all the restaurants and activities in Kingston. Would go back for sure.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Best Western fireside inn Kingston. The rooms are very nice and also very comfortable. The hotel is extremely clean. The hotel is located at a 5 minutes drive to downtown. The service is also great. The reception manager Hailey provided us exceptional service. We had dinner at one of their restaurant Tom's place. Food was very good; it was a pub style. They also have a very good steakhouse restaurant. I strongly recommend this hotel. . C Riopel Piche

    « Birthday Getaway »

We choose to stay here to celebrate my birthday. We choose the Whirlpool Suite. This features an in-room jacuzzi tub, and a fireplace. The size of the room is comfortably large, with a separate bedroom (for the king size ). While the room is dated, everything is clean. The bathroom looks ot be updated with a travertine walk-in shower. Other things to note is that the room has 2 TVs (main area and bedroom), fireplace (although the fireplace is electric only), desk, DVD player, fridge and coffee maker. This room includes breakfast at Stefan's, and it is a lot more than your basic continental breakfast. It is buffet style, but everything is laid out very well, and the selection was all tasty. No need to go out for breakfast. Tom's Place Restaurant, right on the other side of the tiny lobby, is a treat to be in. It's like being in a lof cabin, with all the decor there. We did not try the steak, but the burgers are well made . The exercise room seems to have been an afterthought. A limited selection of exercise equipment squeezed into too small of a room. If it was summer time, I would not have thought about it much, and just gone in the pool, but for fitness, this is all there was. Otherwise, very clean. Note that this is a 2 story hotel with no elevator. If you have mobility challenges, you may want to request the first floor. We found out the hard way...:-( Other than that, if you can score a good price here (i.e. promotion or CAA or Senior's discount), you will enjoy your stay.

« Well kept property, rustic and cozy »

A really enjoyable and relaxing stay. I was made welcome and upgraded to a very nice suite. I had everything I needed. Great shower. The little touches make the difference and I really liked that they put creamers in the refrigerator. Every hotel should do that. Thank you BW for treating me well!

« A little tired looking, but the service makes up for it. »

We recently stayed here as a stopover on our way to Montreal and quite frankly we were just looking for clean, quiet and inexpensive (not cheap) accommodations for the night. We were pleasantly surprised when the Fireside Inn delivered in spades. While the building and rooms are looking a bit dated, they were well maintained and clean as a whistle. More importantly, the service was far beyond my expectations. From the super-fast and friendly check-in to the staff in the restaurant for breakfast (included free with the room), everyone was friendly and professional. While I probably wouldn't make Kingston my end destination, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if I needed another stopover.

    « Showing its age! »

My wife and I stayed over Valentines. Had always wanted to stay here and while it was nice enough, it sure is showing its age. I certainly got an Alpine feel ( not just because it was a million degrees below zero either!) . Narrow hallways, floors that are uneven, wood panelling etc..... Sunday buffet was okay, but the layout for it in that restaurant is quite poor from a serving standpoint- but again, old style layout. Staff nice enough with minimal interaction we had with them.

    « Quaint Hotel »

Very pleasant experience, the reception staff are excellent and to highlight them, Haley and Mitlaind. Most cordial. It is also perfectly located if you are going to the Memorial Arena. Very rustic, the pub has very comfortable seating.

« Country in the City »

We've passed through Kingston on many occasions, but have never actually stayed in town. We decided to burn up some of our Best Western reward points, as well as some Air Miles points and stay in Kingston for a few days to check out the sights and take in the local history. We usually stay at Best Western and BW Plus because, well , we prefer Best Western. The Fireside Inn goes way beyond the typical. Our King room was beautifully decorated in quality Pine furniture, a comfy bed, ceramics in the bathroom, and an electric fireplace. This was one classy room. There are also two excellent restaurants attached to the Hotel. The biggest decision while standing in the lobby is to turn left or to turn right to decide which eatery to visit. The included, hot, sit-down buffet breakfast is a huge added plus. This is what 'customer service' is all about. Well Done !

« Comfortable, Affordable and Good Value »

First time visitor to this property. Visiting family and selected BW Fireside Inn based on tripadvisor reviews, Very comfortable, affordable and good value (complimentary breakfast included). Ample parking on site and it's free. Staff at front desk, both at check in and checkout, very pleasant. Rooms were clean with a quaint country feel to them. Fireplace in the room is a nice touch from your standard looking hotel room, Minutes away from downtown Kingston. Will definitely stay again on our next visit to the area Highly recommend,

« So Glad We Stayed Here »

We stayed here during a month-long road trip. We booked it based on the reviews (didn't get an upgraded themed room). The front desk staff were very helpful, the rooms are clean and cozy (love the fireplace and cabin feel to it), and the restaurant/lounge was fantastic. We had breakfast there in the morning, and it was a pretty typical. It probably wasn't my favourite hotel for breakfast, but it wasn't bad. A trip to the lounge is a must, even if you just have a drink. All around, the service was very good. The only negative for me was the gym. It was very tiny, and the treadmill was stuck at an incline. On the upside (pardon the pun) I did get a good workout from going uphill the whole time. They don't have an elevator, so if you have a problem with stairs, ask for a room on the main floor.

« This is not your typical Best Western »

Great hotel with warm character. Great lounge and an amazing breakfast! Overall one of my favorite Best Western properties that I stay at! I travel fairly frequently and have always had a great experience with this hotel and their staff.

« Best kept secret in Ontario »

In the world of marketing the current trend is to "wow" your client...to go beyond what they would expect and this hotel definitely put the "wow" in our experience. From the moment we checked in and were greeted by happy friendly staff to an outstanding dinner at the Bistro Steakhouse and their pleasant staff. Our room was a suite and it was huge. The over sized jacuzzi was more like having a hot tub in our room and the fireplace in front made it all so cozy and romantic. The king sized bed was very, very comfortable and slept like a baby. Breakfast was well prepared and kitchen staff like everyone else there was so friendly and kind. Looking forward to a return trip in May.

    « Cozy hotel. »

This place has a Moose hanging above fireplace in TOM's Place bar and restaurant. Plus other critters hanging on wall and a fish. A wolf pelt and a wolverine too. Attendants are the best. Food is good. Drinks are good. Really nice and cozy. But don't go there. I want it more for myself.

    « Gem in Kingston »

This was a very brief one night stay enroute to Quebec from Michigan. Arrived around dinner time after a long day of driving, the last 4 hours of which were in heavy traffic and snow squalls. Left immediately after breakfast. Fireside Inn was chosen because of TripAdvisor reviews and it was an excellent (if all-too-brief) stay. Had a nice dinner in one of the two hotel restaurants. Room decor was slightly dated but clean, well-maintained, had a fireplace and was unique, all of which added to its charm. Room rate included a full breakfast and was about $100 US, a bargain for what you got.

« Great place to stay in Kingston, Ontario »

We were well looked after at the Best Western Fireside Inn during the Christmas holidays. It was nice to have our own gas fireplace in the room. To our surprise, there were hot breakfasts on Christmas day and Boxing Day (unlike what we had been told at check in). The room was quiet, and everything worked well. There is a refrigerator in the room, and a couple of grocery stores within walking distance. Will definitely go back.

« Best Western Fireside; a comfortable place to stay »

We have stayed at this hotel many times mainly because it is comfortable, affordable and of good value. The fireplaces in every room are a great addition although the rooms do need an update. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. The Fireside is not far from downtown Kingston; parking is never an issue (and is free); the buffet breakfast is excellent and Tom's place is great for dinner or a drink.

« Tranquility Base space nerd fantasy! »

This review is for the space theme Fantasy Suite, not standard guest rooms. Booking: Reservation made en route directly with the property front desk because price was same for Fantasy Suites. Location: Convenient directly on a main road (Princess) approx. 10 minutes from 401 FWY. Some traffic when exiting all times dawn to late night. Price: CAD 275 per night plus taxes for the Tranquility Base space theme fantasy suite, which was least expensive of the special rooms on our night. Arrival: Covered area with self-unloading. Multiple key card entries closer to separate room hallways. Check-in was followed by a quick overview of the property restaurants and local attractions. Accommodation: Former squash courts converted into nearly sound proof themed rooms. This room has no windows, which adds to the ability to achieve complete darkness for sleeping. A combination of lighting options sets the mood as desired. We enjoyed the complimentary Mars candy bar, Canadian sparkling pinot grigio and bottled water. The room has three levels; living room & bath, jacuzzi whirlpool, and 'lunar landing ship' bed. In-room conveniences include two suede electric recliners, four small flat screen TVs (in bathroom/WC, by whirlpool tub, in sleep pod, in recliner area), couples rainfall shower, remote controlled gas fireplace, fridge, iron & board, safe, hanging clothes rod & approx 10 hangers, K-cup coffee maker & liquid cream, private label toiletries, hair dryer, free wifi. Breakfast was free but standard at best; somewhat rubbery eggs and plain potatoes. Overall, the room was very nerd honeymoon style, but fun and comfortable... it's not overly spacious (no pun intended) but not so tight unless you have more than a close couple. Tom's (attached less formal restaurant) was good quality with generous portions but selection is limited to salads and tavern/pub fare as expected. Staff was polite and professional but comfortably casual. Front desk warned of possible full booking but there were openings as it was later at night. Bed comfort: 5 out of 5 (super soft body-enveloping memory foam with heavy linens and cotton poly fiber duvet). No signs of bed bugs. Parking: Free uncovered self-parking near side entries. Staff: Friendly and knowledgeable throughout. Recommended For: Those into a strange but fun fantasy on a special occasion or a weekend/night away. A solid 4-star level. ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT: The only downside was quality of the breakfast...but then, it was free.

    « Clean »

Clean, restaurant has a pool, whirlpools are thoroughly cleaned, bedding is cleaned regularly aside from duvet and sealed pillowcases. No mold to report. Clean kitchen. Friendly waitstaff. Fantasy suites are a definate 'view before purchase' / see photos beforehand. Also if you are an ethical traveller: housekeeping staff are treated very poorly by management.

    « Total Romance, a quiet getaway! »

We booked the hot air balloon room. Three levels including a Queen Size bed with an overhead tv, vanity, fireplace with a couch, hot tub and sauna in a quiet tv room with a kitchenette. Champagne and chocolate covered strawberries and full breakfast was included. The room could use some sprucing up like the hot tub but overall it was a wonderful weekend away. Just know, it comes at a price. For two nights it was $640.00. No kids are allowed in the fantasy suites and you need your card to get into the fantasy section. The bathroom is large with a large shower. Between the slats on the bench is in need of cleaning and the sink drains very slowly when we were there. A very calm and soothing weekend.

Once again we stayed at the Fireside Inn on our visit to see family in Kingston. The lobby and restaurants were beautifully decorated for the holiday season. We had dinner at Stefan's Bistro and sat in front of the fireplace which was lovely. Our roast beef dinner was very tasty. We really enjoy the fireplace in the room at this time of year. The room was very clean and nicely arranged. the staff is always very friendly and helpful. We will return again in the future.

    « Best - Best Western! »

We have stayed at several Best Western's but this one was the "Best"! The decor, cleanliness, and the cozy feeling throughout the hotel is certainly worth mentioning. Our room was clean and spacious, with an electric fireplace, and a comfortable bed and nice bedding. The dining room had exceptionally nice furniture and gave you the impression that you were dining in an upscale restaurant. The free breakfast was nicely displayed in a separate room and was hot and tasty with a nice choice of food. We would certainly recommend this hotel.

We have been coming to this hotel for over 16 years. The property is always immaculate and the service is 1st class in every department. I definitely recommend this hotel.

Stayed in the Lord & Lady suite and am soooooo happy I did!!!! The room was cozy, clean and large! The bed was in a '77 Rolls Royce! It was super comfy! I passed right out ! All in all I had a great time staying in this room and would love to stay again :)

    « Comfortable Stay »

We recently spent two nights at this Best Western location. The room was a good size, clean, with a fireplace and in-room safe. The mattresses and pillows were comfortable and afforded a good night's sleep. In the bathroom, a cool double shower-head made it feel like you were standing in the rain :) A bit disappointed that there was no body lotion at a dry time of year (perhaps if I'd asked at the front desk...?). Enjoyed breakfast the first morning (a Saturday). Options included yogurt, fresh fruit salad, cottage cheese, bread and pastries, cold cereal, hot cereal packs, waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, corned beef hash (corned beef hash????). Also juice, coffee, tea, water. The second morning, breakfast options were exactly the same. Disappointed they didn't try to mix things up a bit. Also, although it wasn't busy, we had to wait quite a while before staff noticed the fresh fruit salad needed replenishing. The price was right (I had a coupon from a Best Western promotional offer) and I would have no problem staying here again. Good place to stay if you're checking out Queen's with your son or daughter.

    « Great place to stay - »

Had a wonderful evening with friends. The rooms and hotel are very nice. We did find the rooms very warm so ran the air conditioner and that helped a lot. Breakfast was good, lots to eat, well presented. The lounge area was cozy and relaxed. Unfortunately their restaurant was booked and we could not have supper there - so we walked to Aunt Lucy's restaurant - a nine minute walk with lights and sidewalks - no problem.

Enjoyable stay with a spotless room, comfy bed, good breakfast, obliging and friendly staff, in a pleasant and uniquely rustic-style hotel. The fireplace in my room, along with the antique style bookshelf, and other little rustic touches were great. Also enjoyed the restaurant/bar with an actual wood burning fireplace, and it was packed Sat night. The young woman bar-tending made me the best Margarita I've ever had. Great place.

    « Very Helpful Staff »

I have stayed here a number of times. It's a convenient location for visiting Kingston. The staff here; from the housekeeping staff, to the restaurant staff, to the front desk always do a great job and in those few times were things aren't quite right they do their best to make it right, then and there. This trip I was flying a red-eye flight and then driving four hours and knew that i wouldn't have much time to sleep before my event in the evening. I called ahead the day before to ask if it was possible to have an early check-in, explained my situation, and when I arrived the next afternoon they had a room waiting for me. I was able to get some sleep before my event and the evening went very well -- thank you! The breakfasts are buffet-style and well done. The restaurant is good and the waitstaff are friendly. Parking is free and in the winter they do a great job of managing the snow. There always seems to be a place to park.

I was making this reservation for my friends wedding anniversary. When my friends came back from Dinner, there was a bottle of champagne and chocolates in the room. Thank you for making this an amazing night for my friends and easy for myself.

Always enjoy the stay at the Best Western Fireside Inn. Enjoy the surroundings, hospitality, and everything at your finger tips. Cannot say enough good about the restaurant/lounge "Tom's." A relaxed atmosphere, great food, and a cozy fireplace flickering in the winter.

    « Uncomfortable Stay »

After months and months of planning for this trip, we settled on Best Western because of all the positive reviews. It's located near the highway so it's very easy to spot, and the receptionist who greeted us (Maitlyn) was very accomodating and friendly. Our room was on the second floor at the very corner right beside the whirlpool rooms. It had a king-sized bed so the price was higher than normal rooms but it was very disappointing. Our room was mostly clean except for a dead fly on the window sill. The sheets and pillows were rough and itchy and made it very difficult for me to sleep. It looked clean but it did not feel clean. My face on the pillow was itchy all night long. That night we went out in the rain and came back to ask for directions but the evening receptionist looked at us, kept talking to her friend until my husband had to interrupt. She wasnt accomodating at all and told us to go back to our room to find the information we needed. I'm sure they probably had an extra with them at the desk. So we had to go all the way back upstairs and look for the booklet she was talking about before driving out into the rain again. We came back and decided to just eat at Tom's Place, the restaurant in the hotel..we stood there outside and several servers made eye contact with us but never greeted us. My husband had to approach one and we were told there were no more seats, however a couple behind us came 5 minutes later, and they were greeted and accommodated right away while we were still standing there. We waited and waited for around 20 minutes and decided to go back out in the rain to Tim Hortons instead. Early the next morning, we heard someone's tap whistle SO LOUDLY it woke me up at 6 in the morning, I could hear the tap whistling, AND the water landing in their tub as if it was right in our room! It was SO LOUD and I couldnt go back to sleep. That night, there were some rowdy kids running up and down the hallways at 11pm and interrupted our sleep. I was about to rate this 3 star but because EVERY TIME I FELL ASLEEP IT WAS INTERRUPTED, I had to rate it poorly. My husband complained at the front desk but they just apologized and continued charging us 300 dollars for both nights, not offering a discount. Some pros would be that there's a fireplace in the room and the breakfast is very good. IF you're a very deep sleeper and don't mind itchy sheets, then go ahead and book this hotel. If not, go somewhere else.

    « Above & Beyond »

After a grueling and exhausting day in the Emergency Department of Kingston General for some post-knee replacement complications, my wife and I arrived at the Fireside Inn somewhere around 10:00 in the evening looking for a room for the night. Jaclyn was on duty that evening and found us a room on the first floor which was great. Tired and weary and not having eaten that day, we enquired about getting some food and beverage. Jaclyn went that extra mile by contacting the staff of Tom's Place and asking for room service which she said that she would deliver herself, if need be. All worked out and Tom's Place brought us a couple of burgers and a nice merlot. Burgers and wine never tasted so good! We would like to thank Jaclyn, especially, and Tom's Place for coming to our rescue and going above & beyond! Peter & Linda Belleville, ON

    « Quite wonderful. »

This place is definitely out-dated, good quality and not tacky--decor, menus, etc--but it is absolutely comfortable and enjoyable--old-fashioned hospitality. Your every need is anticipated--a gas fireplace with a comfy sofa, a small fridge, and coffee service, a safe. the beds and linens were very comfortable and the drapes let no light in. Our request for adjoining rooms was accommodated. Having 2 excellent restaurants on site is a bonus, as was the excellent breakfast. Our server Linda was fabulous and was helpful with determining what was gluten free or not--this breakfast was much better than most, from eggs and sausage, to waffles and baked beans. Only downside was the windows that didn't open. The Inn is only minutes from downtown and you aren't paying downtown prices.

« Very cozy and comfy.....we'll definitely be back. »

We were in room 128 which is nicely located close to the west entrance that is around the back. The room window faces the parking lot and the pool. The room was cozy and comfy. Nice touch that it had a small couch so we could have visitors to our room without everyone having to sit on the beds (which were comfy and all but no one wants to just sit on the edge of a bed). The fireplace gave the room nice atmosphere without making it too hot as it's just for ambiance. Nice touch. The decor in the room is kinda 80s/90s but it's got character and it's cute. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet.....one of the best "included with the room" hotel breakfasts I've ever had. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the hotel so much that on the day before we were scheduled to check out we decided to stay an extra day!

    « Pleasantly suprised »

I had to have surgery at Kinston General, so My friend came with me. I received the hospital rate which was advised to ask for. It was very convenient to hospital, so after surgery was glad of that. The restaurants, both were excellent quality and service, actually, pleasantly surprised for a Best Western, witch I have stayed in a lot, so highly recommend this location.

This Inn continues to offer a wonderful stay. I am never disappointed when I stay here. From the time of arrival to departure you always feel welcome. The breakfast menu could offer more gluten free options.

    « Our 15th year anniversary ! amazing time ! »

My husband and I have stayed at many hotels but this hotel was by far the best one, the staff was amazing with any questions we had about where to go in Kingston since we were not from Kingston. The food was wonderful, but best of all was we stayed in the flights of fantasy room and all we can say is WOW! It was a great room for a special occasion like our 15th year anniversary...We highly recommend this hotel. We would also like to give a special thanks to Michelle at front desk and Hailey front office manager for making our stay memorable....

    « Very nice stay »

I only stayed at this hotel for one night on business, but the staff was very friendly and helpful, and the room was very comfortable and clean. The decor is much more country than city and there was a nice buffet breakfast. The hotel is conveniently located just a few minutes cab ride from the train station.

« Nice Spot for Homecoming Weekend »

The staff was friendly and helpful, something I don't often see with young people at the front desk. Always smiling and obviously enjoying one another's company and yet still professional and attentive. I had locked myself out of the safe and the staff were on it in the space of about 2 minutes, incredible service!. The room was clean and nice, no complaints here. The hotel felt safe and secure for a single woman. The breakfast was amply and varied. The staff here were patient with our large group moving tables around to sit together. Very good stay! My only complaint was the wifi. I couldn't get it in my room.

« You're never going to see another one like it. »

Make sure you get the king-bed suite with the whirlpool. They could shoot a documentary about this room. The only comparison I can make is to some of the Old West hotels in the desert Southwest. All this place lacked was a moosehead. Also. without a doubt the best breakfast ever. Things like German potatoes and hash in addition to the usual; seriously, eat lightly the night before. All of this wouldn't mean that much, except, at least when we visited (mid October) it was very, very, reasonably priced. A lot of fun, if you're not looking for bamboo flooring and indirect lighting.

« Country and Western Anniversary »

As a wedding anniversary present for my wife I got tickets to a country concert occurring in Kingston and reserved a room here for overnight. The concert went a treat and even I enjoyed it (though I prefer jazz, classical, classic rock, indie and almost anything but country). As others have said the hotel room was clean but looking a little tired. The fireplace is a very nice visual treat and much of the furniture is made from pine, including a 4 poster bed. If you are short, as is my wife, it takes a bit to get into as the mattress is quite high. Do not laugh at the antics of the short person trying to get into the bed, because while I said I was laughing with my wife, the glare I got said shut up. On the other hand the couch is made for short people and, while not overly tall, I found it difficult to get up not being used to standing from a position of posterior below knees. The bathroom was very clean and the shower had great temperature control and good pressure (I only wish it had a hand held option). The breakfast was very good, made more so as it was complementary. I would stay here again without hesitation.

    « Excellent! »

Staff at this hotel are top notch, I've never felt so welcome. The food and service in the attached Bistro restaurant was wonderful, the wait staff was great. Everything made for a lovely stay, including the room. Bed was really comfortable, loved the fireplace in the corner and the leather couch. I wish I could have stayed longer.

    « Good breakfast »

The place is a bit dated, but our room was clean and the staff were friendly & helpful. We enjoyed the rustic atmosphere of the bar, with wood fireplace and sofas/armchairs throughout. The breakfast was very good for an inclusive breakfast, and a nice restaurant to enjoy it in. (self serve buffet style). We did hear the neighbours talking around 4 a.m., so the walls could use some soundproofing.(and the neighbours could learn a thing or two about consideration for others..talking very loudly for an extended time at 4 a.m.) But in the end, we were satisfied.

« Excellent hotel, restaurant and staff »

We had a room with a king bed. The room was great but the bed was a little too firm, would have preferred a queen size but as we had not prebooked we were happy to take what was available. The meal in the Bistro was excellent and staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast had plenty of choice and was kept well stocked. Overall a very good one night stay. Would certainly stay again

« Should have done more research »

Luckily our room was ready when we checked in at 2 p.m. Front desk lady was very friendly. Room was certainly nothing too exciting but at least we could see our car outside our window! The electric fireplace was on a timer for some reason and the bathroom was tiny but we could could hear everyone else in their bathroom without any trouble! We had an OK dinner in Tom's Place which was country casual. Bistro Stefan's was not open on a Sunday. We went back to Tom's Place just before 9:00 only to be informed, rather curtly, that they were closing - it's Sunday! The young lady then closed the door in our face. Sunday night, not yet 9:00 p.m. in Kingston (for a funeral) shut out of our hotel and no place to go as we'd already had a glass of wine with dinner. Guess we can return to our room, time the fireplace and listen to toilets flush and hot tub jets around us! Good news is, it's only one night!! My advice - look elsewhere, especially on a Sunday night if you need a drink after a funeral!

« Lovely room and good food »

We stayed one night here and had dinner in Tom's Pub. The food was good and the atmosphere very nice. Our king room was spacious and lovely! The fireplace and couch and chair made this a very large and comfortable place to relax. Breakfast was included and the buffet was excellent. Would stay here again for sure.

« great bed and great bar, but best of all was the incredible staff! »

We were in Kingston for a wedding. The reception was at another downtown Kingston hotel, and most of the out of town guests stayed there, but the TripAdvisor reviews were quite poor for that hotel, so I decided to go with a TA recommended hotel instead and we were very pleased with our decision. We were only a 10 minute drive away from everyone else, but worlds away in terms of quality and pleasure! The rooms are dated and tired looking, but still cozy and warm. The bed was definitely superior and newer, despite the rest of the room not being updated. The linens were also superb! There are theme rooms, but we didn't see any in person. The hotel is quiet and this surprised us because our room was directly above the office and lobby. We were pleasantly surprised by that. The bar is cozy and the food is above average. Our breakfast buffet was included with our room and it was a proper hot buffet with eggs, sausages, hash brown potatoes, as well as hot and cold cereals and many bread and muffin choices. Again, a very pleasant surprise. The bar and restaurant are popular choices for locals in the Kingston area, too. The staff were, bar none, the most friendly and helpful I have ever encountered, anywhere!!! Josh was accommodating, warm, friendly, charming, and lovely helping us check in and making room in the kitchen fridge for a large quantity of food we had brought as part of our celebrations. We thought that was a great experience, but over our three days there, we discovered that the entire staff are all that way! I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone (note that there is no elevator and we were on the 2nd floor - the stairs were somewhat difficult to climb as they seem to be uneven in the height of the risers - I think the theme rooms are on the ground floor). We will definitely be back and look forward to our next Kingston trip!

    « Retired Xray »

The Fireside Inn is an older style being only two floors. There is plenty of parking and access in and out of the parking lot is very good. The staff at both check in and out were very cheerful, courteous, and pleasant. Since each BW is independently owned, each has its own style for decor. Tom's Place Lounge is unique for its cabin in the woods style. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room stayed in was clean, comfortable, and so were the beds. The only downfall was the small bathroom space for toiletries. We only used the restaurant for the breakfast but it was very clean and comfortable. The staff were cheerful and the selections for breakfast were many. This BW is a place I would recommend and whenever passing through Kingston in the future I would not hesitate to make another reservation with them.

« Great Thanksgiving weekend at Fireside Inn, Kingston! »

This was a weekend to visit our son at college. We booked the room a month in advance (very good service). Upon arrival, the check in was quick and helpful. We also met Haley Fournier, who we had the pleasure of knowing a wee bit in North Bay. She was fantastic with us! Loved the rooms... the beds were sooo comfortable. The rooms were clean and the fireplace was a nice addition to the room. We'll stay there again.

Hotel was easy to find and I was greeted by very friendly staff at checkin. Room was inviting to enter and was very clean. The lounge bar was very comfortable and the staff were helpful in explaining food choices. Overall we enjoyed or stay and would definitely go back and would recommend to anybody else.

    « Interesting, quirky, clean »

Best Westerns are unpredictable, with each property a unique experience and design. This one is a large property, somewhat dated in layout and decor. Rooms are decent size, but the bathrooms are tiny, with no area to put down toiletries, which is a nuisance. Decor is eclectic, a combination of old world tile, bricks, rustic cabin and Grandma's house. Rooms are clean, and they were busy renovating some rooms with new carpet and other features, so they do take pride in condition. There are two restaurants off the front lobby, one more a casual "rustic lodge" bar and grill, and the other a more formal traditional operation, but it looks like the food all comes from one kitchen. The food at the former was pretty good pub grub. A free breakfast buffet is included, served in the more formal restaurant area, and it was excellent, with real food, freshly cooked, not the processed eggs found in so many places. A good choice for travelers, even though not in the downtown tourist hub area.

« You can tell who takes pride in their business »

Each Best Western is individually owned and you can see that the owners of this hotel take pride in their establishment. The place was spotless, the staff great and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and there was plenty of foods for people to get seconds and even thirds if they want. The restaurants served delicious foods as well. I would have no hesitation in staying there again and again.

    « Nice place »

Our room was very clean, large and comfortable. We had food and drinks in the bar and it was all excellent, even though it was very busy. Staff was friendly and professional. Our only complaint was our room was on the 2nd floor and we had to take our luggage up the stairs. Would request the ground floor in future. The breakfast had a good variety of both hot and cold foods and was included in the price.

« Convenient location, comfy rooms »

Such a homey-feel to this hotel as every room is equipped with a fireplace! It was the first time I stayed to a Best Western that looked and felt like a Swiss chalet. The rooms were clean, modern, and they all had a couch and fireplace. The service is good and friendly, we had functioning AC, and the WIFI was free. The free continental breakfast was also pretty good as there is a hot buffet. Instead of an indoor pool, they have an outdoor pool which is great during the summer. Make sure you also check out their steakhouse!
