« Great hotel and amazing staff! »

This has got to be the best hotel with the best staff I have ever stayed in. From the bar staff to the housekeepers. They are all friendly. I have stayed here a few times and each time it gets better and better.

Hotel is lovely and modern. Room was good size we paid extra for superior room was worth it. Staff where all excellent especially the guy working bar and restaurant didnt catch his name . Just know he's been working there 15 years. Also restaurant supervisor rachael was very professional. Over all food, staff, rooms and atmosphere where great and will definitely be back.

    « Great Stay »

Another good stay at this friendly well run hotel. Excellent service, good food and a relaxed atmosphere. The dining room has been extended with a terrace added outside. Leisure facilities are good and again the staff are excellent. Handy location near the M90 with easy access to Edinburgh and other areas of Fife.

Well where do I start? 9th time here and never let's you down, from the moment we arrived till we left. Room perfect Rachel and her team excellent felt spoiled by them and a massive thank you to the chef. Breakfast, meeting Etienne is like meeting an old friend and will go that extra mile for you, and as always food and variety is excellent. Big thank you to Alistair (General Manager) for making it a special weekend for my wifes birthday. The place is a credit to you. And thank you to all the rest of the team. See you next month.

    « Great Easter break »

Had a 2 night break over Easter here. The room was large and had lovely big bed which was very comfortable. We ate both nights in the restaurant and the food was very tastey. On both nights the restaurant was busy but had a nice atmosphere. All the staff had time for you and would stop and have a chat and a smile. The breakfast was self service and had loads of choice from cold meats, cheeses, fruit etc through too full Scottish breakfast ( my favourite was the haggis ). There was two weddings while we were here but there always seemed to plenty of staff to take drinks order. The staff always shine at this hotel on all the occasions we have visited and we will be back again.

« The most memorable part of my stay was the Spa .... Hi Gorgeous »

Hi Gorgeous is located at the Spa at the Keavil House Hotel. Hi Gorgeous offers treatments, make up, hair ...... everything you could ask for for a wonderful pamper package, or a boon to any bride to be & entourage for the essentials before the wedding. It must be one of the hotel's best kept secrets! Also on site is the gym, pool, jacussi, sauna & steam room .... all fab !

« Food not as good as other best western »

Room was lovely and spacious however it was a long walk from the amenities maybe I felt it more because I was suffering from a bad knee. The food was disappointing I have stayed at a lot of these hotels and usually enjoy the food however this time I had a taste less steak pie and breakfast was serve yourself and there was only cold scrambled eggs

« Streets return to Kevil for more ! Awesome! »

This is a quiet wee retreat on the outskirts of Dunfermline, but with a lively kick of vibrance. First trip a couple of months ago, a gift. The Manager invited us back for more and we were only too happy to accept. Well it's our Wedding Anniversary; why not. Alistair's team are simply the best. Warm reception on arrival, and the most modern and fully equipped bedrooms overlooking the grounds. Comfy bed, lots of toiletries, bathrobes &a slippers too - feel like Royalty .. staff are so willing to please, so polite and helpful. The Manager from the restaurant, Rachel, is so nice, and with her team they ensure your taste buds get a run for the money - food and service is tops! Both breakfast & dinner; never disappointed ?? Relaxing - from sitting on their terrace with a bottle of bubbly, to watching and listening to the wedding guests have a ball. A place with life, but also tranquility- who could ask for more. We took a walk around the grounds and woodland, then a short drive into town where there is lots to do. Alistair and team.. we are still with you tonight, and we will come back again, and again.. thank you. Charlie.

« Great across the board »

My self, my partner and a few others that we work with stayed here whisky we where working at an exhibition. The staff from the outset where lovely, very friendly and welcoming. The food was fantastic everything I had, I loved. The breakfast was great, picking what you want to off the buffet. It all seemed to run very smoothly! The pool was also a nice addition. My partner had something in his eye and the team helped to try and wash it out, extra room key when my partner didn't want to wake me after a long day. Couldn't fault a single thing on out stay. Thank you to the manager and team, for a great stay on a very long and tiring week.

« Peaceful location on outskirts of Dunfermline »

Two night stay was very good, executive room was spacious with large comfortable bed. Food was good quality, beautifully cooked with a large choice for evening meal and breakfast. Friendly staff were obviously well trained. Although we found it quiet, I imagine that could be different if a large wedding was going on.

« Great food.... noisy guests »

This was meant to be a relaxing chill overnight stay for us. The fist thing we spotted when coming into car park was a wedding party so we knew that it wouldn't be quiet and how right we were. Don't get me wrong the hotel was good, room clean, only one complaint was the cigarett butts left outside the ground floor rooms in the flower beds. The food was excellent and the staff very attentive but the guest at wedding were a lot to be disired. The banging of the room doors was horrendous no concideration for other guests and it lasted well on into the early hours the guest retiring last being after 3am. We had about an houes sleep all night so we left shattered. Complained when booking out to staff all be it they were very sorry to hear of our sleepless night, there was nothing they could do. I suggested that they fit soft closing hinges on all the room doors to solve the noise problems. Reading back on some of the complaints in the past this is not a new problem. We also suggest that if you are going to book a weekend stay at this hotel you call before hand to see if any weeding are being held that day as it will be noisey at night.......

    « Lovley leisure centre »

Stayed in the hotel on a deal for £109 dinner b @b which was fab! On arrival very friendly receptionist explained everything to us. Room was very tired old and very corporate. Immaculately clean though. Very cold window wide open and net curtains hanging off the rails which was dissapointing but i fixed it easily enough. However once i closed window i didn't realise i needed a key to open it and it wasnt there. ( didn't notice this until morning when it was very warm) managed to catch a cleaner who was very apologetic! Room heated up well. Huge bed lovley selection of pillows which i loved! Had scones and coffee in lounge which were very nice but didnt seem fresh..lovley all the same! Went to leisure centre for the afternoon which we loved! The guy on reception wasnt very informative but we thoroughly enjoyed it. Sauna pool jacuzzi ect practically to ourselves. Very relaxing! Just what we needed for a very rare night off from kids! There were some kids in pool with parents who i have to say were beautifully behaved! Loved every minute of it. We dressed for dinner and enjoyed a delicious meal and wine. Couldnt fault anything. Beautiful restaurant and staff very friendly. Had a good night sleep..bed a tad hard but cant please everyone. Breakfast was again delicious. For a buffet everything was so fresh and hot. Staff again very pleasant. Really enjoyed my stay but felt room very corporate. Wish id known about upgrade with garden doirs ect..nobody offered us this and we were unaware of it i just read it on here and happened to notice the room being cleaned opposite us and it looked a bit better. All in all great value for money and staff all lovley. Definitely worth it and leisure centre fab. Maybe a spa break would be something to consider as a treatment or 2 would have went down a treat ! I did try and book some but therapist was full is obviously very busy. Will look forward to returning but would prefer to upgrade so it was a bit more romantic and not so corporate. Thanks again for a lovley stay.

    « Wedding »

We had our wedding here yesterday and we cannot thank Kevin and his team highly enough. From the minute I walked through the with my bridal party until we left this morning. Nothing was too much for them. Everything ran smoothly, Kevin talked us through absolutely everything. All staff were very professional and friendly even when my brother on law fell ill, they provided a room for him to lie down in. So many comments from guests about the food and the service. Once again, thank you all so much for going above and beyond ????

    « A Quality Stay »

Good quality and excellent staff, restaurant had good quality food at good value, the overall hotel is well worth a visit both for business or leisure. Plenty of free parking and good leisure facilities, little touches like free coffee on departure were excellent

« Nice hotel but cold on arrival and noisy guests = Sleepless nights »

We stayed many years ago on our Honeymoon and loved it so much that we decided to stay as a stop gap on our way to scatter my late Fathers ashes in Nairn. Check in was nice & welcoming. Family room had ample space though looked a little tired and dated with worn furniture and stains on carpet. The room was cold and we found the radiators were not working. We reported the problem and was told that the duty manager was in a meeting and would sort the problem once finished. The guests in the above room were very noisy, children running back & forth across the room. We reported this also, Reception said they could not ask the guests to be quiet and only had 2 family rooms so could not move us unless it was into an executive room but DM was still in a meeting so could not do anything anyway. Despite the noise at 9;15pm we tried to get some sleep, this is when the DM finally came to check if the heating was OK (4 hours after reporting the problem), we were in bed, fortunately the chain was across the door, as when we didn't answer the door he tried to let himself into the room. When I went to the door he only mentioned the heating and no mention of the noise and changing of rooms. There was also the added noise that came from either a hot water heater or air con unit, whirring noise every 10 mins for a few mins all through the night. We had very little sleep due to the noise of upstairs guests and the whirring. We are very disappointed that they didn't do more for us regarding the noise from upstairs, it was a difficult time for us as it was without the added stress of the noise and hardly any sleep. However the hotel itself, leisure facilities and breakfast were lovely, could not fault them, but when you are staying somewhere and do not get much sleep It's hard to enjoy the nice things. We were also not asked on checkout if we enjoyed our stay yet at our further 2 hotels they both asked on checkout if everything was ok.

    « Overnight Deal »

Drive from Glasgow to the hotel very easy and arrived in time for the scones and tea after checking in. Paid the extra to the hotel for an upgraded room but it was not so different from our friends room who also had booked the deal but did not go for an upgraded room. I asked the lady at reception who advised the other upgraded rooms were all taken but there were items in the room not included in my friends room. Ok there were the housecoats but no slippers, the toiletries were the same as in my friends room, there were two small bottles of water, biscuits in the tea tray and looked out to a garden so not much of a difference for the extra money but I received a call to say the manager had taken off the extra money I had paid. Very good of him. The hotel is very nice and it was clean and the reception area lovely and I'm sure when the summer is here the grounds will be beautiful. We decided to have soup and sandwiches (took ages for the waiter to take our order, had to go and ask him) and our treat of scones (on the deal) after, but one friend just wanted her scones now. Her 2 scones looked delicious so we were looking forward to them. When we eventually got the waiter to clear the dishes away we then got our scones but nothing like the ones my friend had polished off! One each (instead of the 2 my friend got) but they were totally different, worst scones ever! They seemed to be made up of stale bits of pastry fallen over which made me realise the waiter must not have realised we were all to get the scone deal, and gave our friend the better ones! Anyway we had a good laugh about it all and had a great time and would definitely go back. The meal at night I enjoyed but had to ask twice for mint sauce for the lamb, one friend sent her Thai vegetable curry back to the kitchen as it was just veg on top of watery rice, we were told that the chef said it should not have left the kitchen! Breakfast in the dining room was lovely nice and bright and my two boiled eggs just the way I'd asked for but the porridge was just a runny cream. No Worcester sauce for the tomato juice. Hey I still would go back as really liked the place and if you have a complaint they are only too happy to fix things, but the scones were awful. As for the spa it was great using the pool etc. Staff were all friendly and most were helpful.

« Lovely hotel and disabled friendly »

Hotel is in a nice location and only 15 mins from Dunfermline town centre. Keavil staff were welcoming and friendly. Our room was on the ground floor (35), it was spacious and suitable for a wheelchair user. The wet room was great! Bed and pillows were comfy and room was immaculate. Food choices were plentiful and reasonably priced. The new conservatory is lovely and it was nice to watch pheasants strolling the grounds. Sadly we didn't have time to use the leisure facilities but perhaps next time.

    « Fantsstic Stay/ Brilliant Staff »

We stayed at Keavil House for a girls night away. Our first impression of the hotel was WOW. Things went from WOW to fabulous when we saw our very spacious/ clean and well equipped rooms. The staff are great, friendly and although worked very hard always had time for a quick chat or a bit of fun. The food in the restaurant was delicious and we will definitely be back for lunch/dinner. Would return tomorrow if we could.

    « Great overnight stay »

I stayed here on 31st March with my partner as part of a special deal. Although the hotel was busy, we couldn't fault any part of our stay. The location is very peaceful. The view from our room (50) was really lovely, with pheasants walking around the grounds. The food was excellent, service fantastic and the staff (plenty of them) were all very helpful and attentive. I would certainly recommend this hotel.

    3
« Had the potential to be better than average »

The hotel was smart looking from the outside and inside was clean and well presented. We were greeted by a pleasant receptionist and started with scones and tea in the bar area. The tea service was a little slow and the crockery etc was a bit dated (metal tea caddy which my partner burnt himself on) but overall, a good start to our experience. We spent a relaxing afternoon in the pool/spa which is a fantastic addition to the hotel. Our room was perfectly adequate but my biggest disappointment was the noisy boiler bubbling away all night which kept me awake and in the morning, breakfast was very disorganised in comparison to our lovely meal the night before. We waited 25 minutes for toast and coffees and by this time, we had all ready been to the buffet. I was disappointed that the ?made to order? breakfast was not made entirely fresh either the only cooked to order part were the veggie sausages and I then had to go to the buffet form the rest. It just brought the tone of the hotel down a little. My rating would have been 4 or even 5 but for these 3 things: 1. The noisy boiler (or whatever it was) 2. The chaotic and sub standard breakfast 3. The slow service with teas/coffees and dated crockery Thank you to all the staff who were very friendly and clearly wanted to make our stay an enjoyable one.

    4
    « Excellent Getaway »

This one night break was given to us as a present so didn't know what to expect. Have to say we were not disappointed right from the minute we checked until the minute we checked out. Checking in was smooth room was plenty big complete with the usual tea coffee flat screen tv and free wi-fi. There is also a health club on site which we used as this free to guests staying at the hotel. Dinner in the new restruant was very nice nobody rushed you once your table was booked you had it for the rest of the evening. The breakfast is buffet style with plenty of choice both hot and cold dishes the good thing your eggs are cooked to order so are fresh. In conclusion the staff are all very professional and I would have no hesitate in staying at this hotel again.

    « Wedding »

I have had the most enjoyable stay here with family and friends at my daughters wedding. Graig and all the staff truly went out of their way to make this a memorable day,the facilities and the grounds are fantastic, the meal was excellent. The rooms were excellent,I would recommend this hotel for any function and wedding and also for just a break away. There is also a spa facilities and a lovely pool for guests to enjoy and use, this is definitely a venue to consider if anyone is looking for somewhere to hold an event. I recommend this hotel and staff 100%.

This hotel is very clean to a high standard, and the rooms were A1, including the TV remote, all very clean. The Staff in the hotel could not be better, polite, really friendly and gave a great service. They all worked hard and worked as a team. The food was great, the breakfast was spot on! Keep an eye out for Adam (member of staff), he is a star, making us feel so comfortable and beyond great service..lets hope his their next time we come. The beds were very clean and comfortable...great place. The Pool and sauna/steam really very good, but the staff I found unwelcoming..shame they let it down..We came away so relaxed which was well needed. I would truly recommend this hotel and Thank the staff for there hard work. Hope to see you again. Mark and Julie

    « Saturday night stay »

1 night stay in a ground floor family room was very relaxing and we were well looked after from the moment we arrived. I had asked for an early check in and even though this wasn't guaranteed at the time of booking (understandably), they made it happen for us. Room was spacious for the 4 of us and breakfast was great.

I bought a gift for my friend for two nights dinner and breakfast through a wowcher deal. How wonderful an experience and amazing value for money. Food at hotel was absolutely delicious we couldn't have been happier. Staff very friendly and courteous. We had a lovely time. Hotel rooms very comfortable, shower area a bit tired but serviceable. Beds comfortable. We would recommend this hotel and definitely stay here again. Well done to all the staff x

« One of the best managed hotels I have ever used »

Stayed here on Saturday night using a wowcher dinner, bed and breakfast deal. From the moment we entered the hotel until leaving we were greeted and treated with curtesy and care. From scones and tea on arrival, dinner, drinks, breakfast, check in and check out and use of the spa, every single member of staff was pleasant and helpful. Our room was large, comfortable and clean (number 43). The food was amazing. Hats off to the kitchen staff. My lamb was beautiful. This is definately one of the best run hotels I have ever stayed in and I totally commend the management. Well done. I definately recommend this hotel. Thank you to everyone. We will be seeing you again.

After staying in a travelodge at Heathrow the night before I guess any hotel would be better but this one is great. Clean and tidy Big comfortable rooms Robes and plenty of towels provided Quiet rooms (great sleep) Sauna, steam room, pool etc complimentary WiFi is available in rooms and is adequate for business use or streaming a movie Staff are friendly Car park is free Breakfast is good There is an on-site restaurant but I didn't use it. This is now my go to hotel when visiting this area and I look forward to my next visit. ????

    « Great weekend »

My husband, son and I stayed here for a night as part of a couples getaway. The room was a good size, especially as we had our own travel cot with us (one was offered to us). We had fill access to the gym and spa facilities which were great. The food was delicious, however a bit too fine dining for our liking, the main meal didn't come with potatos or chips, when ordered separately they were a bit more expensive than I'd usually pay. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be back!

« Room for improvement, and needs new beds! »

I thought this was a lovely hotel only let down by a few small issues, the main one being the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in! I realise this is a very personal thing but all 3 people in my party complained about the hard, lumpy mattress so we can't all be wrong. Great food and lovely staff but very slow service both at dinner and breakfast. The spa area was very nice but full of screaming children both in the pool and in the café area for the first hour and a half of our visit; nobody warned us about this, not the relaxing spa day we'd hoped for! The showers weren't working but we all had showers in our room so that wasn't an issue. Made to feel like 'voucher customers' when getting the tea and scones as part of our voucher deal; not the best way to encourage a second visit! Overall, a nice hotel but needs some work to bring it up to the standard expected; the uncomfortable beds ensured I will not revisit unfortunately.

    « Pleasantly suprised »

My sister got me a gift voucher for a nights stay at this hotel; both myself and girlfriend enjoyed our stay ;nice clean large room with fresh fruit ,enjoyed the pool and sauna ; and the food was too good to describe, not forgetting to mention all the staff who were happy ,well mannered and very efficient,we both have recommended this hotel to our friends, and look forward to a return visit in the near future . The pheasants outside the door were so good to watch they came for their breakfast each morning. Overall a pleasant stay . We will be back.

« Best Western Plus Keavil House Dunfermline »

Having stayed here before I stayed another night again. I upgraded the room this time to executive suite, since did not like the last room. The room was spacious although the decor has seen better days, bed very comfortable. With snow outside and the large single glass sash window the room took a little while to warm up. The toilet you had to flush 2 to 3 times to ensure it was clean. The shower had little to no water although hot, the shower cubicle was very small. Overall disappointing for the extra cost.

    « Top notch! »

What a lovely hotel, with well kept grounds. My wife and I, got married here (Quite a few years ago) and it was excellent all round.Staff were very helpful and the bedroom was lovely (although it was the honeymoon suite - you'd expect it to be grand). The food and service was faultless too.

    « Snow experience »

With the recent snowfall last week. There were problems with deliveries and staff getting into the hotel. Rachel suggested a hot buffet (Soup, Cold meat / fish starter, steak pie / haddock goujons / vegetarian pasta main course. The chefs (Dylan & ?) created a wonderful meal. I would suggest a hot buffet once a month. Well done Rachel. Well done Dylan & ?

    « Snowy weekend away! »

We stayed last night for a one night break. Given the weather this week, we were told in advance by the hotel by phone (they also posted on Facebook) that they were doing everything possible to keep things running - and they certainly did this very well! Supermarket shelves have been empty but they still managed to put on a lovely dinner last night and a great breakfast this morning. Staff had been sleeping in the hotel or walking about 5 miles to get to work, just to please their guests, and they were able to keep things running and open the spa for use too. So overall, very well done on a very difficult week. We would definitely come again. I hope the staff ignore the comments of guests complaining about the situation - they obviously didn't realise the country has mostly been at a standstill this week! Particular thanks to the female staff member who seemed to be the main one organising the restaurant last night - she looked after us very well.

« Superb despite snow challenges! »

Stayed on Saturday 3rd for one night with my husband, brother and sister in law. The wowcher deal (Although booked through hotel) was given to us as a Christmas present. On Friday we received a call from the hotel explaining that due to the weather the roads were poor, they had limited deliveries, would have a reduced menu and the spa might be closed. Although we initially thought about postponing, having a landrover and knowing we could get through most things we decided just to make the most of it... and I am so glad we did! All your staff from reception, to the bar/restaurant and those cleaning the rooms were so lovely and polite and always said hello and checked we were ok. Some of them looked very tired from no doubt a chaotic and challenging week but they were all absolutely wonderful. The pool area ended up being open and we had a wonderful time and although the menu wasn't quite as fancy as the normal menu could have been, we all felt the chefs did a wonderful job with what they were dealing with. We were so disappointed to hear a few other guests complaining when most of Scotland has been hit with incredibly rare weather this week and it was so evident that staff were going above and beyond. The hotel itself is very modern looking inside and our room was great with free WiFi, blue tooth music player and an internet connection for laptop. Thank you to all your staff for being so cheery and helpful - particularly Sam on the front desk and the girl with the hair pleat (can't remember her name) - both fantastic!! Will definitely be back!

This hotel has grown better and better year by year. Now it's restaurant has been extended to include a lovely outside table area. Great food. Great position. Great Staff. And...it even has a lovely swimming pool.

BEST WESTERN PLUS KEAVIL HOUSE HOTEL PRO * lots of parking * Clean, well kept, modern * Friendly staff * Lots of amenities- Swimming pool, various lounges, bar * Nice rooms - clean and plenty of storage * Free WiFi * The food is really good CON * rooms are a little dated and claustrophobically designed * Had to ask more than once for items at the restaurant. * No usb slots in the room OVERALL I'm coming back here. The food is lovely, the place clean and has lots to offer. It's not far from town and yet set in lovely surroundings. The Cons above are tbh minor ones - all in all I would recommend this hotel.

« Best Western, Keavil House Hotel »

We stayed in this hotel for two nights in February. The hotel stands in a large area of land located off the main road through Crossford. We found the rooms clean and comfortable with all the usual facilities you would expect from a good hotel. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Breakfast was of a buffet type with Scottish breakfast and Continental options. The evening meal menu was quite varied and we found the quality and taste well above average. There is a health spa adjacent to the hotel with swimming pool, gym, sauna etc. The spa is open to locals and can be quite busy at times. The hotel is well located if you would like to visit the sites in the area, although I feel that a car is essential for getting around. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

    « Not as expected »

Going by the reviews on here I gave this hotel a shot but unfortunately I was disappointed and will stick with better brands in the future. Room appeared ok upon entry but after closer inspection the carpets were stained, it looked like it needed a hoover and items such as the services folder has what looked like food stains on it. We were tired, couldn't be bothered complaining to get the room changed and just wanted to enjoy what we could of the hotel which seemed ok. Before going down for dinner I noticed a droaning/low pitched noise which would last a minute then go off then back on for a few minutes hoped that after a few beers I would sleep through this no problem. I investigated this and the noise was coming from the electrical cupboard right next to the room. I woke to the noise at 4am and struggled to get back to sleep. I left the hotel tired and feeling that I would have been better staying at home. Nice dinner and ok breakfast. Not worth what we paid for the dbb. Bar/waiting staff pleasant. Had I been asked by reception if I had a nice stay I would have informed them of the problems but I wasn't. Definitely will not return to this establishment.

    « Could do better »

As regular customers of Keavil Hotel we have been very impressed with the new Botanist restaurant, it is very light, stylish and comfortable. The staff are, as always, wonderful. The menu is fine if you are just passing through but as locals who lunch at the hotel often the selection of dishes is becoming a wee bit tiresome. Even if there were a couple of specials that would help. There is the roast at weekends.......so disappointing. Tasteless meat, mixed veg and boiled potatoes. How exciting! A few of the dishes are really good e.g. salmon and fish and chips but watch out for the prices, your bill might come as quite a surprise! Don't order the chicken dish unless you have a good hour to wait, the staff will even tell you it takes ages!

« Beautiful Friendly Hotel and Spa »

Just returned from a most relaxing weekend break at this hotel and spa. Staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Our receptionist was very helpful at check in and offered us on arrival tea and delicious scones in lovely warm sitting room to start off our break. Our room was very modern clean and spacious looked as though everything was brand new. We spent the afternoon relaxing in the spa. Beautiful pool area well equipped with jacuzzi sauna and steam room. The restaurant was well organised and despite being very busy we had excellent service. Our meal was fabulous I can highly recommend the lamb ! The bar area is intimate and beautifully decorated and our barman was very friendly as was the manager. Breakfast in the morning was buffet style for us and selection was very varied something for everyone. Food at this hotel is excellent. We checked out a nearby park Pittencrieff before we left the area and loved our walk there would highly recommend if you are traveling to this area you stay at this hotel.

    « No fault found »

Stayed with my wife on a deal, we stayed for two nights. Guests would be forgiven for thinking this hotel had been recently refurbished but that's not the case. The owners keep on top of the hotel condition to the extent that it looks so. It is quite impressive. Rooms are big and well appointed. We arrived to a bowl of fruit in our room which we enjoyed and were much surprised to find it replaced fresh next day on return from our day out. We had left our towels hanging on the towel rail as we were happy to use them a second time. These too we found had been changed! The room and its refreshment could not be faulted. The restaurant is an extension overlooking the garden with a family of pheasants in attendance and would be really lovely on a fine summer evening! The food was excellent. Wife had a very tasty lamb dish, so good I had it the following evening. I had salmon, beautifully cooked and presented, which wife had the following evening. Breakfast was a buffet as is usual in many hotels these days, and a pet aversion of mine, hate them. That said, the buffet provided was exceptionally well presented with cereals, cold meats, fresh fruit, breads and of course the usual hot dishes, for which the plates were hot, the food sufficiently warm and not dried out or over cooked. It was one of the best buffet breakfasts I have had. The staff in the hotel are welcoming, friendly, up for a bit of a laugh, very attentive and nothing too much bother. If it seems from this review that we were impressed, yes we were and could not recommend it highly enough. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will repeat. Anyone finding fault in this hotel is going there with that intent and can only be a nit picking pain you know where! Ps, it has a leisure club if you wish to waste your heartbeats!

This is a very nice hotel that I now use on a regular basis, very warm welcome every time. It has now added the lovely new Botanist Restaurant during its latest upgrade and as usual the food is excellent and delivered to your table very quickly with very friendly staff. Buffet Breakfast is still to a high standard and the selection is excellent. Some of the rooms are a bit dated, the rest are excellent, all rooms are spotless and tea and coffee is still provided.Excellent facilities on site and very quick check in from very efficient and friendly staff

    « Pleasent Stay »

Stayed for two nights in January, very cold and icy outside but on arrival had a lovely friendly warm welcome! Room was clean, big airy, lovely bathroom, and very nice toiletries. the bed was very comfortable and we slept like babies. There was a party being held on the Saturday night, and apart from a few loud party goers heading out, we heard nothing. The spar looked lovely, we didn't actually use this due to the bed being so comfy and us sleeping in... We ate breakfast two times, both of which were nice, self service, all cooked lovely, the restaurant area has a lovely view of the countryside. All in all a very pleasant stay, lovely staff and a nice atmosphere.

We visited this restaurant this week. 4 people, all had different starters and 3 had the fillet steak and 1 had the haddock and chips. Firstly we were all impressed with all the food served to us. It was all very fresh and well presented. The steaks were cooked exactly as we had asked them to be and you could taste the quality of them. The portion sizes were just right not too little but not too much. We did not partake the sweet menu as we felt we had had enough already. Only thing I will say is that there wasn't anything on it to tempt me.

We stayed for a 2 night break 25 &26th January on a 5 pm voucher deal. Lovely warm welcome with tea and scones. Really nice room which was very spacious, lovely bathroom with very nice and high quality toiletries. We enjoyed both dinners and breakfasts very much. The service was friendly and efficient in both the hotel and restaurant. The pool/gym/ leisure centre was excellent.

    « Excellent! »

Stayed overnight with my mum and 2 kids on a fab 5pm deal. Hotel room was lovely and spacious and beds very comfy. We also very much enjoyed the tea and scones in the lounge and the pool was gorgeous. Staff were young and extremely helpful and friendly. It was very busy due to a function,(some of the guests very loud when going to bed, but that's not the hotel's fault) and so service at dinner was a bit slow for the kids, but very pleasant. Unfortunately, my little boy was unwell after dinner, but the staff were quick and efficient at helping us out and were very kind to us - thank you, it was very much appreciated. We got a notice to warn us that breakfast service might be very busy, but in fact it was absolutely fine and the buffet was really excellent. My son had even recovered enough so that he could enjoy it too. The kids loved the pheasants outside the room and have now named them all! Would certainly recommend and hope to come back some time.

I received a voucher for lunch and use of the swimming pool/ gym facilities as a Birthday present. My wife and I additionally booked a room for an overnight stay in the hotel. « A super hotel with excellent staff. Book soon. »

We stayed at Keavil House at the weekend to celebrate my husband's 80th birthday. It was a low key close family get together. We had 5 adults and 3 children in the party and the hotel was perfect for all ages. The 3 rooms were extremely spacious and well equipped with quality toiletries and a great hospitality tray with Brodie's treats on it. The bathroom had "work tops" on two sides which was perfect for all our clutter.!! Dinner menu had a good choice and was served by professional yet friendly staff. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a varied selection of hot and cold food. The leisure club was used by us twice.Every one of us enjoyed the spotless pool. The gymn looked well equipped with a wide selection of serious looking machines. All areas of the hotel looked well cared for and all the staff looked well trained and happy A group of pheasants wander in the gardens I think guests feed them as they looked tame.. I recommend Keavil House as an ideal place for a quiet break in lovely surroundings .Also perfect for weddings, private dining and I would think a super venue for corporate conferences and team building events in the grounds. Suggest you go soon. Cheers

    « Dunfermline 2 day stay »

We stayed with a group for two nights while exploring Fife and Edinburgh. We were excited to have a room in the historical section of the hotel that was absolutely gorgeous and had wonderful garden views. The beds were perfect and we rested well. The breakfast buffet and dinner menus were full of many delicious offerings that made it hard to decide on something. I would definitely return to stay here again.

Great value for money, if you leave after breakfast then that will be your choice, choice includes cold meats and cheeses or cooked breakfast. Evening meal, plenty of choice, presentations of food excellent, quality very good. The staff both in the restaurant and bar were professional and friendly. Included in the price of your stay is the leisure facilities which are very good. My room was clean and each day upon my return late afternoon it was always clean and tidy.

Once again we have enjoyed a fabulous four night stay over the Hogmanay period. Keavil House and it's staff are more than a hotel. We have been going there for several years to enjoy seeing the new year in and at other times when we are visiting that area of Scotland. As usual, food, service and ambience was of the usual high standard which we have come to know and expect. Nice to see the new Botanist restaurant and I'm sure this place will be a lovely place to eat during the better weather. The room is comfortable with plenty of nice toiletries, big fluffy towels, decent shower and good sized bath ... all immaculately clean. Already booked for our Hogmanay break this year and looking forwards to seeing you all again at the end of February.

Myself and my partner went away as a treat to our selfs as we were both working Xmas and the day was a delight the only thing I had to fault was the in room Wi-Fi and the service at breakfast where my self and partner requested tea coffee and other items where left to wait and where then forgotten about while other guests who came in upto 10 minutes after us were served these items but all and all good stay and great night sleep can't fault people for only being human

« Short break as couple »

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Keavil House. Had a bit of trouble finding it initially as it was dark and our postcode took us to Keavil steadings which was at the back through a housing estate. Quick phone call and helpful receptionist directed us. Warm welcome, immaculate surroundings. Friendly staff. Food superb but was very busy with a function that evening so a little wait for our nibbles platter to arrive. Seafood sharing platter highly recommended and steak was superb. Wine reasonably priced and new facilities everyone is deservedly proud of. Sunlight streamed through skylights at breakfast. Room enormous, doors opened onto garden grounds and greeted in the morning by some curious and clearly resident pheasants expecting some breakfast! Bar had no crisps left though to munch with our G&T but good selection of Gins. Health club facilities busy and impressive. Was recommended to us and in turn we would happily support this recommendation. Mr and Mrs Anderson

« Great apart from breakfasts! »

Arrived for our 2 night stay at Sunday lunch for which we had a table booked with family. The meal and service were both very good. Checked into our room which we loved, spacious, comfy bed, nice toiletries provided, lovely sleep. It all went pear shaped the following morning at breakfast. We were told no buffet on because only a few guests breakfast would come direct from kitchen, which I thought better it would be fresh. Told 15 mins wait, happy with that. I had ordered porridge first followed by cooked breakfast, hubby decided on cereal and cooked. Hubby just started on cereal and breakfast arrived! Not freshly cooked then! Waitress offered to put under grill but was already looked over cooked! So husband had 2 courses in front and had finished reluctantly before I had one! I call that atrocious service from terrible waitress! 2 nd day not much better as I was left standing waiting at buffet for a fried egg for 10 minutes. Such a shame as I would have otherwise given this nice hotel an excellent rating. Will be returning some time and looking for breakfast improvements! Incidentally sausage were like Tesco value range! We stayed 17th and 18th December

Just back from a two night stay. This is about our 8th time staying here, and have had a brilliant two days. Food absolutely brilliant in the new Botanist restaurant, both for evening meal and breakfast. Once again Rachel goes that extra mile for you when in restaurant in the evening. Etienne at breakfast was amazing and again nothing to much trouble, these two are a credit to the hotel. Please pass on a big thank you. Also a big thank you to chef Dylan for the soup recipe. We did miss Gavin at the bar, but everyone has to move on. Looking forward to returning in the near future.

« Hmmm - some good, some bad.... »

The photo makes the location look much nicer than it actually is! The hotel is at the end of a long road which skirts round a park and through a housing estate. But on arrival the welcome was friendly, the family room we had was spacious and nice. And the leisure facilities were great - big round pool, small sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and kids' splash pool. Nothing fancy or luxurious, but it did the job and the kids loved it! Dinner was a bit of a Fawlty Towers experience though. Noone properly explained the DBB offer to us - you get £28 towards your meal. Excluding alchohol and kids' food. I am sure it was pointed out at time of booking - but that was ages ago and I coudn't remember! Service was so slooooooow!! We have a 2 and 5 year old and wanted in and out quickly - 2.5 hours it took! Food was fine and there is a good choice. And it was Christmas and we were feeling jolly - but by the end the service was beginning to get quite annoying.... Good buffet breakfast the next morning - same bad service though. But always with a smile. I think they were trying their best - just maybe not trained properly or short staffed... I don't think I would particularly recommend it.

« Love the new dining room »

This is a favourite hotel, it is good to see it being updated. The new dining room is lovely, spacious and bright and we look forward to dining on the terrace in the summer when we return. As always, the staff are friendly but professional, coping with snow storms and bus tours as well as weddings and business executives! It offers excellent value and we have recommended it to family and friends over the years. The revamped menu was well received, the wine list is excellent without being overpriced. recommendations include the Highland Burger, the Chicken Breast, the Expresso Ice Cream........

« Fantastic hotel in a great location »

We are just home after another three night stay at this briliant hotel. From the moment you arrive until the moment you leave you experience incredibly friendly people and facilities that make the dinner b&b package we had such great value for money. We paid for the upgrade in rooms and would recommend that - welll worth the extra £15 per room. Service in the restaurant was very good - they staff the hotel very well. There is a good menu and food is excelllently cooked and arrives well presented. A special word for the wine list which gave us the opportunity to try wines we had never come across before and all at reasonably prices. The leisure centre is a wonderful bonus. A fully equipped gym and a swimming pool that is usually quiet even although open to locals through membership. Thank you everyone at Keavil for the wonderful stay that we had. Sad we had to leave but we will be back!

I booked a one night stay for Dec, 28th, I had a deal for room including 2 course evening meal, breakfast and spa access, When I booked I was offered an upgrade to a superior room for £15, which I took, Back to that in a minute.. Room was nothing special, Squeaky floor boards and a bathroom door that swings open when let go and bangs against the bath noisily, minor detail but annoying when purpose of the stay was for a relaxing night away, Spa was fine although it's a health club not exclusive to residents, Evening meal was excellent, I had the mussels and the fish, My wife had soup and the chicken, She also had a dessert sticky toffee pudding, All excellently presented, Buffet breakfast was good also, Back to the upgrade.. When we checked out I was asked to review my bill, I noticed there where 2 of the £15 upgrade entries on it, When i questioned this I was given a Glib short answer I didn't understand, Not wanting to make a fuss i paid and left, When I got home I checked the receipt more thoroughly and saw I was charged the upgrade fee for the stay on both the arrival day and the leaving day, So if correct the upgrade of £15 is per day which is £30 and not £15, Cheeky... That aside, apart from the new botanist restaurant I found the hotel to be tired and in need of an upgrade, I don't think I would book again, try somewhere else next time..

« Comfortable hotel, excellent restaurant, and with excellent guest service. »

We have stayed here before, and chose to come back for a celebratory long weekend. Our package included breakfast and dinner (two courses in the revamped " The Botanist" restaurant). The menu is varied, and the food tasty and cooked to a high standard. Sometimes in hotel restaurants there is an obvious choice of meals - which means that you want to eat out after your first night. That was not the case in The Botanist. We were happy to eat there every night, and didn't exhaust the courses we'd be happy to eat. Service was friendly at both breakfast and dinner. We were made to feel very welcome. Guest services were always excellent and friendly. For example, ice was available, as was fresh milk for tea and coffee. Staff here, from chamber maids, reception, bar staff, waiters/waitresses, to maitre d, all gave the impression that they enjoy their work; which greatly improves the customer experience. We also managed to leave a coat behind, something we never do. House services found this for us, packed it up well, and posted it back to us efficiently. It nice to make use of the pool, steam room, sauna, and jacuzzi during our stay. Along with the garden view room, and our experience of the restaurant, made this stay feel luxurious.

« Excellent service, comfortable stay »

I am a regular at BWs and this visit confirmed why. I had booked a double room, but found I was allocated to a twin (I am tall, so a single bed is a no-no). I was promptly changed to a different room - very comfortable. On the first morning I got a nasty shock - no hot water (heating or shower) as a boiler had failed. Endured the cold and mentioned it at reception as I left for work. Came back that evening... "We're very sorry about the problems, would you mind moving to a different room" I was even offered help with my luggage, although not needed. The new room was, IMO, better than the previous - walk in shower instead of stepping into the bath and the heating was working flawlessly. I understand some guests were turned away because of the boiler problem, so I feel lucky. Breakfast was good - buffet style and a wide choice, and dinners were excellent, with a good menu including a delicious lamb dish, perfectly cooked. Another nice touch was being greeted by name after my first night - little things like that make working away from home less depressing. I could not fault service in any way and the price was quite reasonable. Hotel has good leisue facilities although I did not use them on this visit.

    « Christmas Weekend »

We were given this as a early xmas present what a choice. What a fantastic hotel from the minute we arrived until the minute we left, all staff were very welcoming and friendly. Food was excellent couldn't fault it, note to self don't have the Camembert starter followed by Ravioli when we go back, the Camembert would have been more than enough with maybe a side of fries it was a full sized Camembert but it was lovely especially with the deep fried cauliflower florets really different. Very busy weekend but you would never have guessed as there was nothing we wanted for, didn't use the leisure facilities this time as wanted to go into Edinburgh. Room was lovely and quiet not much noise apart from the squeaky floor boards it was the newer bit of the hotel and the boards all the way through this part of hotel seemed to have a problem. Only 1 minor problem in shower/bath no grip bar to get in over bath maybe the hotel could think about that, it is a preference thing as we get older. The grounds of this hotel is very wide spread and when we left on Sunday morning it was -7 and the frost everywhere made it look more spectacular.

The hotel is lovely. Loved the relaxing lounge before going into restaurant. Staff very good. Food was spot on. Stayed 2 nights and the spa and pool looked good sadly didn't get time to use it but will next time. Definitely be back in spring or summertime to explore the area. Only issue we had was ordered a wine and beer with meal and it didnt arrive asked again and only wine came but that i can deal with that. Just booked Standard room but next time would upgrade a bit as room was fine but decor dated but was cosy and comfortable. There was a xmas doo on and thought there would be a bit of noise but didnt hear a thing. Loved it will be back

    « Love this Hotel »

No, the Keavil is not the echelon of luxury but its not far off it!! Staff are welcoming, friendly and totally accommodating. From the Lady on Reception (Donna), the lovely Chambermaid, and Rachael in the Restaurant, Hubby and me couldnt have been happier. The facilities suited our needs. He loved the pool and spa, which guests of the hotel have free access to. There is also a Steam Room and Sauna, with a Jacuzzi, and you have access to a fully equiped gym blah blah blah.... I dont do Exercise so Im not the person to ask. Anyways, comfortable surroundings, fabby breakfast, and the option of a nap for an hour if needed in the Lounge. Breakfast, I would challenge anyone not to be served with what they want. Poached eggs amazing, smoked haddock delicious and the sausages and mushrooms....I could go on but your eyes would maybe start to bleed ??. We were so taken with the Keavil House Hotel that I have booked a night Dinner, Bed and Breakfast in March. I would only add 1 thing, Connor/Chef, if this Dude is on you have to have the Flat Iron Steak.....Geeeeeorgeous doesnt come close ??

« excessive noise coming from ignorant staff »

Absolutely livid about how i have been treated at this hotel. I stayed here for 2 nights while in the area with work. the hotel was a little further away from where i was working than i would have liked but i got a cheap deal on a single room which i decided to go with due to the fact that the hotel is advertised as 4 star. checked in fine. receptionist seemed pleasant and friendly and off i went to my room had a long day working and travelling so decided to head straight to bed. this is where the problems start. the tv is sideways on from the bed. and because of that the bed is ruined on one side where people have been sitting on it watching tv. lying on the bed is extremely uncomfortable. feels like you are falling off it all the time. i contemplated asking for a different room at this point but decided to suck it up and deal with it for 2 nights. then within about 10 mins the whole room vibrates as someone takes a running jump down the 4 or 5 steps outside the room. again decided to not make an issue of it. 10 minutes later the same thing. and over and over again someone is marching up and down the steps directly outside my room and through the fire door which slams shut and bounces on the door frame every time it is opened. after this going on for a couple of hours i started to watch through the eye hole of the door and see that it's a member of staff causing all the noise. I decided enough was enough and went to reception and requested a different room. the member of staff that caused the noise was stood taking to the receptionist as i approached. when he realised i was making a complaint about him he slipped away to one side. The receptionist told me she would have to check with the duty manager because there were no more rooms available at the rate i had paid. She also made the incorrect assumption that my company had booked and paid for the room which i felt insulted by. So i returned to my room. the marching up and down continued and nobody came to see me. eventually i went back to reception where the receptionist claimed she had tried to call me and then said she could move me to a different room but i would have to pay an extra £20. I refused and proceeded to make my point that i'm not putting up with a member of staff marching up and down past my room with no regard for the residents. to which the receptionist accused me of being a little rude to one of the supervisors. Now let's get one thing straight. i don't care if this man is a supervisor or a dish washer. he is showing a total lack of regard for the paying guests in this hotel. i still cannot believe that the receptionist had the audacity to accuse me of being rude towards the member of staff who created the issue. and all the time had a smirk on her face. i became a little irate at this point. The receptionist then walked off to get someone else to deal with me who i can only assume was a manager of some sort. there was no introduction but after me giving him the facts he moved me to a different room. the door slamming continued late into the night on both nights of my stay. you would think they would get some soft close doors or something to resolve this issue as i see others have had similar complaints. Staff attitude aside, i accept that the room i had booked was at a discounted rate but for a hotel to say it is 4 star you expect a certain standard in all the rooms. Something i feel is not met. not by a long shot.

    « Don't book when there's a wedding on »

I would give 5 stars for the staff, dinner and leisure facilities - I would defo return to this hotel, just not when a wedding is on, which we didn't know about. Check in was great and with our deal we got tea and scones which was lovely. Used the pool/steam room, etc at the health club and it was great - very nice and relaxing. Dinner was lovely. There was a wedding on so at around 1am there was just loads of banging coming from the room upstairs stomping about - this went on for quite some time. I think if I stayed again I would ask not to be on the ground floor. Finally stopped once I'm assuming they went to bed an hour or so later. Then at 4am we got woken up by drunk wedding guests banging on doors and shouting trying to get in to rooms. When they couldn't get in to any rooms they just decided to party in the hall outside our room. I had an altercation with them and after then being quite cheeky they finally moved on. By this time it was time for stompy upstairs to get up! Never slept at all and was so shattered that we didn't make it down for breakfast so can't comment on that. We did ask for a later check out due to the circumstances as my wife had to drive home and was shattered but as there was someone booked in to the room they could only offer us 11.30 and checkout was 11 anyway. Got to mention that this was other guests fault and not that of the hotel - but I'd still ask for a room not on the ground floor. Excellent deal on wowcher and like I said I would return as staff, facilities, dinner all good but I would double check that there was not a wedding on at the time. Came for a relaxing time away and left shattered.

    « Lovely Birthday Meal! »

Lovely birthday meal in the new Botanist Restaurant last night - new décor is beautiful and gives a lot more space for each table. The food was amazing with great service from all members of staff who couldn't have been more helpful, will definitely be back.

« Fabulous lunch in the New Botanist Restaurant »

Seven of us visited the new Botanist restaurant at Keavil House yesterday and Wow we weren't disappointed. The new décor is beautiful with lovely views of the garden. The staff as always at Keavil House are welcoming and attentive and the food was delicious with a large menu and Sunday carvery. We all commented on the presentation. It was excellent. I finished off with the Beer mug chocolate brownie . It was chocolate heaven!! It's my birthday in a couple of weeks. Guess where I'm going!!

« Lunch on Sunday 3rd December with friends. »

7 of us had lunch in the Botanist. Most had steak pie or battered haddock. The plates were warm, the food was piping hot and the portions were generous. The haddock in particular had crispy batter. We had a selection of desserts and mine,(raspberry creme brulee) was delicious. It was served with luxury shortbread rounds. I'm assured the chocolate brownie in a mug was to die for. I would have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant and our group will be back.

    « Party Night »

Attended the Boogie night for our work Xmas Party. Great time had by all. The staff were lovey and the service quick. The food was delicious. Also, the dj was great fun with a mix of music getting everyone up dancing. Would definitely recommend and return.

    « 25th Wedding Anniversary Lunch »

It was my Mum & Dad's Silver Wedding Anniversary at the weekend and we, as a family 16 in total, had a special lunch in Keavil House Hotel. We visit the Hotel on lots of different occasions as they staff & venue are second to none. As always Eteine & his restaurant team did us proud. All the food was excellent quality and taste. More specifically my mum wasn't able to eat much and they provided her with soup (which hadn't been part of the menu) instead. Because we were a large group we had a room separate from the main restaurant. this meant we could have a private event and make as much noise as 16 people do :-) I would recommend this hotel to anyone (& have done to various friends & colleagues). The fitness suite is very relaxing, clean, bright and welcoming to everyone. I am never disappointed to visit and it's like home from home when staying overnight. As a family we quite often bypass other venues because of the treatment, level of friendliness and first class service we receive from everyone from Managers to chamber staff :-) :-) Another very satisfied customer on what was a very special day for all our family :-) P.S. Can't wait to have dinner in the new Botinist Restaurant :-)

« Good hotel with excellent staff »

A friend and I stayed for 1 night and enjoyed a relaxing break. Room was comfortable even if the beds were a little soft. The heating did not work but we were very quickly provided with a heater ( and an apology). Dinner was absolutely lovely and promptly served. Gluten free was easily and helpfully accommodated without losing out on the choice of dishes. All staff without exception were friendly, helpful and professional.

    « Amazing stay »

Beautiful welcoming staff. Very friendly making your stay very enjoyable and great facilities in which to unwind. Exemplar staff at the hotel. Would highly recommend. Nil negative to report. All members of our family were impressed and left following a great stay.

« Awful staff. Rude, disrespectful and disinterested. »

We encountered and witnessed some disgusting behaviour from one of the managers at this hotel. The receptionist too was disinterested and verging on rude when we entered the hotel. The manager in question was addressing young waiting staff at an event we were attending when we overhead him very aggressively and rudely tell one to stop feeding her face and to the whole group " to get up and get their ar*#s out there" ie into the event to start serving. This group of servers looked like high school kids. We were absolutely disgusted to hear a member of alleged management speak to staff in such a degrading and disrespectful way. We will never return there as it was an upsetting experience being in such a hostile environment. We left without having drinks and had intended considering this as a potential venue for an upcoming family wedding which is definitely out of the question now.

    « Wonderful hotel »

We stayed here for four nights last week, the room was spacious and a very comfortable bed.It was spotlessly clean and had a view over the garden. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly. It was nearer Edinburgh than Glasgow but the motorway was close and away from the city's was nearly empty to getting around was easy. The pool and spa were lovely was surprised at the size of the pool, much bigger than usual hotel pools.

    « Our wedding »

We had our wedding here on Saturday and it was perfection from start to finish. Our wedding planner Craig Colligan was an absolute star from start to finish. The whole team at Keavil went above and beyond what we expected and our day was truly magical. The venue was stunning with every request actioned without hesitation. Thank you so much for making our day unforgettable xxxx

« Michael Buble tribute night. »

I was at the tribute night with 5 girlfriends. at £25 a ticket it was well worth every penny. The evening started with a two course meal of which we had a choice of 3 main meals and 3 sweets finishing with tea or coffee.the food was superb. When the show started it wasn't long before everyone was up dancing and singing along with Paul Moore's tribute. It was a great night finishing with the resident disco. when is the next tribute night.!!

    « Wedding venue 3.5 out of 5 »

Attended a wedding here yesterday and stayed overnight also. All staff were very welcoming and friendly throughout our stay but it's the first time I've visited any establishment anywhere in the world where the bar staff warned us that the drinks were expensive before they started to pour! To their credit, the drinks were very expensive so it was an appreciated warning. The venue itself was nice. We were in a separate part of the hotel but only a short walk back to the main building. The food we were served was a complete let down. The lentil and ham soup had no flavour or seasoning and no lentils in it either, the beef was also tasteless but cooked beautifully which made it all the more disappointing and the lemon tart was just as bland. The evening buffet didn't raise any eyebrows either as it was just as dull. This brought down the whole evening not just for me but for other guests also. Room- The bedroom was clean and spacious with a great shower and very comfy bed. If I had to nit pick I'd say that I'd have liked a bottle of plain water in the room instead of elderflower but that's all I could complain about. Morning breakfast- A breakfast buffet was served and offered all the usuals you'd expect. I opted just to have a hot breakfast instead of cold but from what I could see there was a decent selection of cereals and yogurts etc The hot selection offered the usual items you'd expect- I was surprised at how nice the scrambled eggs and sausages were as in my experience, most hotels fail by offering microwaved eggs and deep fried sausages which are just awful in my opinion. Overall, we all did have a pleasant stay despite the food being a disappointment and the drinks being very expensive. Breakfast saved the experience a little but i would return here if need be. I can't give a half mark on here but I'd honestly rate this venue as 3.5 out of 5

« STUNNING VENUE. GREAT BASE FOR EDINBURGH VISITS »

Stayed 3 nights b&b in room 23 an executive room. What luxury for less than £300 for the 2 of us. 5 green dots says it all. Staff were always attentive and helpful. Quiet room despite them having 3 weddings over Friday and Saturday. Breakfast was well cooked, ample, hot and fresh. Spa/pool facilities excellent and open 6am till 10pm with free towels !! Dunfermline (birthplace of millionaire philanthropist Andrew Carnegie ) was 5mins drive away with several tourist attractions available. Those wanting to visit Edinburgh will be able to take a train from Dunfermline town station(free car parking) can do so for £6.50 return or can drive for 30 mins to the free & park and ride near the airport and get a tram to the centre for a all day unlimited travel.bus/tram ticket of £4. Thoroughly recommended

    « Wee weekend away »

Although this is a sort of local hotel I have never been here before. It is a jewel set in acres of land. Peaceful and quiet with the most attentive and helpful staff. My partner booked this as a surprise. Check in was seamless and efficient. I am lactose intolerant and reception brought up soya milk for me within minutes of my request. The bar staff were informative and the restaurant food is to die for! Special shout out to Rachael in the restaurant. I quizzed her at dinner and breakfast about the dairy content. Nothing was too much of an issue and she came back with kitchen alternatives including James' Dessert! At breakfast I left my glasses in the room, she read the menu to us! 5 star service all the WAY! We'll be back!

    « Our Wedding »

My husband and I can't thank the staff of the Keavil enough. We had a brilliant day with excellent service and we were very well looked after. We had so many compliments on the running of the day, the food and the service. Right through the day and even during breakfast the next morning we felt like we were a priority, and nothing was too much hassle. We'd highly recommend the Keavil as a wedding venue, but even just for a hotel stay. Many thanks again to our wedding co-ordinator Chris Angus and all the staff at the Keavil House Hotel. We'll definitely be back!

    « Beautiful venue »

Attended a wedding here yesterday and it was stunning. The decor was soft grey and lovely big windows. The staff were lovely. Our waitress Scott (not her name as she had lost her name tag so has one that says Scott for the last month) was friendly and funny. Looked after us and was cracking jokes while helping us. Rooms were lovely and big, very clean and had everything you would need. The only reason this does not have 5 stars was the drink prices. £9 for a mojito that was not very large was a rip off. Staff at the dar in the venue room were lovely and friendly but the staff in the bar main reception were moody and grumpy. Lovely day and would possibly consider for future.....

    « The Arts Society »

We have just returned from a four nights stay at The Keavil House Hotel, a party of 18 well travelled, discerning clients. Not to have a single adverse comment about the hotel, food staff or service says it all. The young staff were excellent, menus varied and portions excellent. The beds were extremely comfortable, ( pillows were a little lumpy ) but the hotel is clean, comfortable and welcoming. A real fire in the lobby would be a nice touch.

« Murder Mystery Dinner Stay »

« Best of the Best at Keavil House »

Great stay at the Keavil, we were very happy with the service and the genuine smiles that we met each day from the staff at the hotel. Darius was so exited each day to meet the staff and wish then good morning or good evening, the staff met his enthusiasm like for like and it made our trip very easy. The food was awesome, I am ready for another vacation just to burn the food off, Salmon was too good to describe and breakfast set you up for the day. I have had the pleasure of staying in Best Westerns in many different countries and this is the Best of the Best and I would recommend it to any one.

« Lovely Hotel but cold »

I had a lovely stay in this hotel. Unfortunately the weather was dreadful. The hotel didnt respond to this and was very cold. Although I complained every day the hotel remained cold. The lounge was really cold when sitting trying to enjoy a drink and a chat. Because the heating was not on for very long this meant my heated towel rail didnt work either The staff did try hard to solve this issue however without any success, Such a shame. Would recommend this hotel when the weather isnt bad.

    « Thomson/Ellis wedding »

What can we say We are absolutely blown away with how everything went, I'm not sure what we expected but you went over & above even our wildest expectations & not just us, all the guests have commented on how great & flawless the day/night went, from how friendly all the staff were including meeting the staff doing the other rooms in the morning, how good the rooms were even down to the breakfast in the morning. Everyone complimented the meal some still talking about the steak pie today. Please thank the whole team behind the scenes for us as we know they all work extremely hard to make sure the day would go so well. And of course you Chris, you done an absolutely fantastic job putting it all together for us it seemed to run seamlessly, you were relaxed & agonised & I feel that came across very well putting us all at ease. Just when writing this to you & have only just told Yvonne just now, I remember on the day you telling me the cd we provided the morning of the wedding didn't work in the hotel CD player but just as cool as you are you said not to worry you had downloaded the songs to your personal phone, it was just a little thing but think it is a good example of you going that extra mile to make sure everything was perfect for us. On behalf of my wife & I I would like to thank you again You are an absolute gentleman You are a true credit to the company Thanks again Barry & Yvonne Thomson

« Lovely Place Country Setting »

We stayed in the room the very farthest from the lobby and other amenities but it was a great room. We had a door to the outside and it was green, flowering, and comforting. The breakfast was excellent as were the other meals we had. The dining room and the lounge opened up to a wonderful yard and garden. We would have liked to have spent more time here and use the pool and other spa options and see all the Carnegie sites in town, but were heading off on a tour.

Lovely garden room with door out into lovely gardens, very clean, tea and coffee and flat screen tv, usual toiletries and plenty of towels. Food in restaurant is of good standard and service is friendly and very quick. Very quick check out from very pleasant staff. Would definitely recommend for a visit and a meal.

    « Excellant night stay »

This is a lovely hotel with friendly , happy , helpful staff, Our room was very large with a comfortable large double 4 poster bed, everything was clean and well presented. The food at both the evening meal and breakfast was of a high quality and Etienne and his team went out of their way to make the dining experience a good one. Our bill was slightly wrong when we checked out but it was dealt with swiftly and efficiently. Would definitely stay here again

    « Restful hotel »

Old country house , extended tastefully in well maintained grounds, beautiful flower beds. Clean and welcoming. The staff are friendly, go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The food is very nice and well presented though I felt menu was a bit limited, especially if you are there for more than one night and some items not available. Breakfast is really nice, with many items freshly made for you. It's in a quiet location but not miles from anywhere. Our room was well maintained and modern, in the newer wing. There is a leisure centre with pool etc which is basic but not managed by hotel . Would recommend this hotel. Definitely stay again if up that way.

    « Nice setting »

Booked here when we couldn't get accommodation in Culross as seemed to be nearest nice place. Wasn't disappointed, not far in a car to visit. Room lovely, clean and quiet. Food was really nice, wine bit expensive but it is a Best Western Plus!!

    « Mixed experience »

'Average' rating is maybe a little low but couldn't rate as very good. Attended a wedding, great venue, lovely building & grounds, friendly attentive staff, meal & buffet delicious. All good! However, we stayed in an Executive room, it was very tired & needed freshened up, e.g. stains on carpet. Breakfast was disappointing, a reasonable £10 each with plenty of choice but quality was poor especially cooked items. Greasy & cheap. Breakfast area was tired with some quite damaged furniture - chipped tables with MDF showing through. As we experienced the previous day, staff all friendly & helpful.

Lovely hotel. Food excellent and staff very friendly and helpful. Room well furnished with a lovely view of the garden. It is ideally set to visit lots of attractions in Edinburgh Glasgow Stirling the Falkirk wheel and the Kelpies, The hotel has no lift to the first floor. Lots of free car parking spaces. We have just spent 6 happy days at this hotel and we will visit again. We highly recommend this hotel.

« Will Definitely be Back »

Stayed here for two days while visiting family in Dunfermline. We had a perfectly lovely superior room (48) situated right at the end of the garden in a quiet corner. Our bed was a super king and the room was perfectly appointed with high quality and plentiful toiletries. The tea/coffee making provision was likewise outstanding. We hosted our family in the hotel for a buffet Sunday lunch and for evening dinner. In both cases the range of dishes on offer was most acceptable and the food was delicious. We were particularly impressed by the enthusiastic and knowledgeable local waiter who clearly enjoyed his job and was proud of the food on offer. We made good use of the nearby gym and spa which was excellent. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Dunfermline. A perfect stay.

    « 2nights, fantastic atmosphere, great food »

We stayed here for the weekend. The hotel was lovely and clean and modern, the staff were all really helpful. Our room was modern with a mini fridge (poor views tho). The food was delicious, lovely menu and one of the nicest meals ive had. We stayed in December and sneaked into two Christmas parties and had a great time, however there is a nice relaxing bar area were you could sit and watch Im a celebrity, whatever tickles your fancy.

    « Favourite Fife hotel »

This will always be my favourite hotel in Fife, since I got married here. I've visited a few times since and never been disappointed. Rooms are lovely, although the carpet in our room this time could do with being replaced, the rest of the furnishings were fine. The food is excellent, although I felt it was difficult to justify the difference between the B&B rate and the DBB. In future I'd just book B&B and pay separately for dinner. Saying that I'd definitely recommend this hotel.

« Nice hotel with a friendly welcome »

I booked three rooms for myself and some colleagues recently. Upon arrival the receptionist was very efficient and also went through everything I should need to know. The room was spacious and had a door that opened onto the lawn behind. Breakfast was excellent and it was just a shame I was not staying longer. There is also a leisure club on site with a pool.

« Spa and afternoon tea »

Had a wonderful day from start to finish, it was a gift from my children to go to the spa followed by afternoon tea. Firstly I would like to thank the staff at the spa for lending me her costume as I accidentally forgot to take mine, cannot remember her name but very much appreciated her helping me out. The pool area was so relaxing and clean and staff very welcoming. We were then welcomed by friendly staff and had a lovely selection of sandwiches and cakes, desserts, so compliments to the chef and kitchen staff, who are behind the scenes. Just a lovely day in a lovely hotel.

    « Helpful staff »

Stayed over for a night to attend a function. Staff very helpful with excellent breakfast. Spacious room well appointed, except the shower had my pet hate a Mira shower. Impossible to regulate the temperature running the risk of scalding yourself. Have yet to find one of these that works properly- otherwise might have got full stars

    « Take earplugs »

This hotel does wedding receptions with live bands and discos, so if you value your sleep take some earplugs. The soundproofing is poor. I guess this would be a decent enough place to stay on a function-free night.

    « Lovely Stay »

Welcoming Staff at reception, very friendly, polite and helpful. Lovely big room (126) with a garden view, huge bed, flat screen TV lots of channels including bt sports, all modern especially the bathroom. Tea, coffee facilities. Fabulous breakfast with very attentive staff. Hotel is spotlessly clean and of course not forgetting the brilliant Liesure facilities. Loved it. Ideal for a wee break away. Thank you so much to the Manager and his hard working staff.

« Short stay to meet up with friends »

Well appointed country house hotel. Staff were all extremely friendly, obliging and efficient. Room was very comfortable although we were a little disappointed that although it was garden facing on the lower ground floor, the outlook was quite poor. Dinner was very nice, the menu varied and in our view reasonably priced. Breakfast was good too with option of either hot/cold buffet as well as items cooked to order. We did not make use of the leisure facilities but our friends did and commented that the pool was especially good. Overall, a very enjoyable stay and we would not hesitate to recommend Keavil.

    « another happy stay »

We have been staying here for nearly 20 years, and keep coming back. The staff are friendly but professional and extremely helpful. The spa is lovely, we look forward to using the swimming pool which is always spotlessly clean. The rooms are comfortable, the food is excellent, beautifully cooked and served. This time we were joined by my sisterand brother in law, mother in law, daughters in laws.......we bring the family! Thi hotel offers wonderful value for money, the location is good being close to the motorway, the Bridges ( all 3 of them!), and the railway.

« Very good all round »

A lovely hotel in a lovely tranquil location . Good food and helpful and welcoming staff. The bedroom and bathroom were comfortable and spacious. . The kingsize bed was very inviting, but here lay the only flaw. The mattress was uneven with parts which sagged noticeably.. But overall a very enjoyable stay.

    « * Pretty Good but Pricey.....* »

We were here for a wedding and had a lovely time. The food was excellent and I have to say the staff were the friendliest I've ever come across at a function. A real credit to the team there. The drinks prices however for a Dunfermline hotel were pretty steep and the room had no tea or coffee or any freebies which was disappointing. It looked a bit unfinished. If it was a staff rating it would be a 5 but I'm afraid a few things let the stay down.

    « What a transformation - a hidden gem »

It has been a year since we visited Keavil House - and what a transformation. A warm welcome with home from home comforts. Local produce prepared freshly ,presented as you would expect in the West End of London. Alistair and his team have worked hard in 12 months to make this a destination in itself. To take time out, relax in the well equipped pool, catch a fitness class, go to the gym or sample the wonderful treatments available from the in.house beauty and hairdressing salons. We had a wonderful time and arrived home re-charged and rested. It's a hidden gem waiting to be discovered

    « Quiet setting »

The Keavil is in a quiet village/town not far from Dunfermline. You can use it as a base for seeing this part of Scotland. It's comfortable and the staff attentive. Restaurant above average. There is also a Spa and pool available to guests within the grounds.

This was the venue for our daughter and son in laws wedding. From the start the staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for us and went out their way to help us. The day of the wedding was amazing, Chris and Mags helped make sure the day went smoothly and that we had the best day ever. If there was anything you needed the staff were more than willing to help. The Elgin suite where the wedding was, was gorgeous and perfect for the day. Would definately stay there again and would highly recommend it

« Lovely hotel with friendly staff and excellent facilities and food »

A real gem of a hotel in a great location for touring around the area. The staff were extremely welcoming and professional at all times and were always happy to help. The food was of a good quality both morning and night and there was definitely plenty of choices at breakfast. Our room, albeit an Executive was spacious and the housekeeping team made sure it was always spotless. A real bonus having the pool and gym as well as sunbeds at a small extra cost. Plenty of on site parking even when there was a wedding function. Pleasant gardens to the rear of the hotel, a haven of tranquility to relax in after dinner. There is no lift (not complaining) just making comment. Looking forward to staying here again soon.

Wonderful, relaxing, peaceful stay. You, the Guest, are treated as such by ALL the professional, welcoming, happy staff, ensuring your stay meets your needs whatever your reason to visit. A 'home from home' feel without the corporate, uncaring cold attitude. The attention to detail make this hotel so special, rare these days. I certainly would recommend for any Occasion, especially Weddings. as 'matters' to the Team 'you are special + stay goes smoothly', set in lovely gardens. Rooms, Lounges, Restaurant Gardens, Pool, Gym - Well kept, clean & inviting. Comfy beds, good room facilities. Great breakfast & Food. WIFI good throughout. A five min stroll in grounds brings you attached park area with good children's playground. Good location, 5 mins drive Dunfermline centre. Good train / bus services to Edinburgh City Centre. « Amazing Wedding venue! »

Just back from our friends wedding at the Keavil House Hotel. This has got to have been one of the best weddings (and venues) I've ever been to! Beautiful setting, lovely venue. I have to comment especially on the staff. I have never met such a wonderful team. Special mention to the member of staff at reception who sewed on my boyfriends waistcoat buttons when they fell off!! And the bar staff in the function room were professional and exceptionally well mannered. Swimming pool was amazing and much needed after dancing the night away! Again, staff were extremely attentive and pleasant. Nothing was too much for any of the staff. We will definitely be back and look forward to having some long weekends at the Keavil. A definite credit to Best Western group.

    « Great Hotel! »

I find the staff to be exemplary in all departments and a warm friendly welcome is always given and appreciated. Quality of food is second to none in my opinion. Use of the Leisure facilities is also beneficial and much appreciated.

What a great stay. Staff really welcoming. Bedroom was clean and spacious, food was terrific. Nothing was too much trouble. Really enjoyed relaxing in the leisure centre. Lovely warm pool and great jacuzzi.

    « Very welcoming stay. »

We had a fabulous stay, the room was a very generous size with a garden view. Every single member of staff was pleasant at all times of day, always a smile and a hello. We ate in the hotel every evening on the patio, the food was good and reasonably priced. There were recreational facilities available and I wish we were more prepared as they looked great. I read a review before I booked it which said this was a 4star hotel with 5star service, I couldn't word it better or agree more.

    « Our Wedding- June 24th »

We got married at the Keavil on June 24th and it was the most amazing day ever! We live down south so it was important we had facilities for our guests traveling up but also to have someone to help organise things. Craig was our wonderful coordinator who helped in every way possible. He was always at the other end of the phone to answer my incessant questions and dealt with many last minute changes in his stride. Morag was also a fantastic help. The venue is beautiful and was everything we wanted it to be. A mention to Nicki who dressed our seats and a massive shout out to Hayley who created the most stunning bouquets and centre pieces. The food was outstanding and many of our guests have commented on the quality. All the staff were welcoming and friendly and again a mention to Audrey who has a special and personal touch- always remembering names and little details. Room 50 is a lovely bridal suite which has patio doors out to the gardens- very secluded. We cannot wait to go back and stay on our 1st anniversary. Our day could not been more perfect!

    « I was not welome »

This hotel's staff was not at all welcoming. Instead of smiles, as that is what I am use to at Best Western properties, I was given suspicious stares. I overheard staff inquiring whether I was registered or not. This was the exception to all of my other stays in Scotland. I wasn't ever sure what it was that raised their suspicion about me not belonging at their hotel.

We had our wedding reception at the keavil house hotel and cannot fault the staff or the venue. They got everything perfect, just as we'd imagined, made sure everything was perfect. Staff were all friendly and our wedding coordinator Chris was absolutely fantastic. We would highly recommend this venue to others

« The most amazing venue for our wedding »

We had originally booked our wedding for June 2018 but due to family circumstances we had to bring the wedding forward to 30th June 2017. When we approached the keavil about this they were brilliant about it and very accommodating, there was no trouble in changing it. Our co-ordinator Chris made us feel at ease and understood our situation really well and was there anytime we needed anything or had any questions. The venue was beautiful and the rooms we stayed in were comfortable and lovely. The food was lovely. The day of the wedding went smoothly and brilliantly. We had to change the tables around but that was done with no issue and done promptly. Even though I was running a bit late (as the bride does haha) that was completely fine and they worked with us to keep The day running well. The meal was fantastic we loved it and our guests could not compliment it enough. We also have to give a shout out to Mags who made sure we were ok on the day as well and helped with our family situation really well. Me and my husband had the most amazing wedding there. The Elgin suite was gorgeous and I really wish we could do it all again. Definately recommend the venue and the staff

« What a hotel should be like! »

We stayed for 4 nights at this fantastic hotel and had a very pleasant stay. The hotel is set in a very quiet location, so no traffic noise! The public rooms and our bedroom were exceptionally clean and tidy and all the staff were very friendly and helpful (even the maintenance man offered to help with our luggage!). Our room (125) was quite a way from reception but was completely quiet. This was an executive room with an enormous bed which was very comfortable and the room itself was large with a very clean bathroom with a good shower. The restaurant had a very good menu and again the staff were very friendly and helpful. All in all it was a very pleasant stay and we will definitely return when we go back to bonny Scotland.

    « R and R »

My husband and I needed a wee bit of R and R as a result of his ill health. The mistake I think we made was not sharing this with the hotel since we had a few disappointments however it wasn't all bad. Good points - very warm welcome, lovely surrounding, good pool and a good position for visiting surrounding area. Recommend Limekilns and the Ship Inn where booking is required. Also recommend Pittencrieff Park in Dunfermline. Bad points - room was in he basement and it was cold. We got a radiator which solved the problem. Dining room was deserted and cold the first night then the second night we had the same problem in the lounge. Just felt it was lacking atmosphere. The hotel was very busy with sports teams and they ate separately resulting in the deserted dining room.

« Top standards of housekeeping, well-trained (and long-serving) staff; good food and efficient service. »

The hotel's in an excellent location, in parkland but close to local amenities and trunk routes. Highly-professional staff, all local and many long-serving. The whole hotel is always immaculate, public areas and rooms. The food's good, with varied menus and prompt, efficient service. No lift; but only one upper floor, and ample rooms on the ground floor if that's an issue.

« Business trips made less stressful »

I have been a regular guest at the Keavil House Hotel on business trips for around 3 years now, staying for 3 nights about 20 to 25 times each year. Having tried several other hotels in the area over those years, I still come back to the Keavil as I know I'll have a very pleasant stay. The staff (who I've got to know quite well) are always welcoming and helpful, the rooms are large and very comfortable, and the food in the Cardoon restaurant is quite outstanding. Also, as a guest you can use the facilities in their Health Spa with its swimming pool and gym. Dunfermline is only a 5 minute drive away and there is also a regular bus service from Crossford. On arrival at reception you are always made welcome and the check-in process is uncomplicated & swift. The staff will try and provide for any special needs you may have (difficulty with stairs etc.) and allocate you an appropriate room. The restaurant team, Etienne and his staff, are always very friendly, helpful and accommodating. If a guest has any food allergies or is unsure of the ingredients in an element of a dish, they will gladly explain its content. There is always a friendly welcome from the staff in the Lounge Bar and they are equally as helpful as the restaurant staff when making an order from the Bar & Lounge menu. It really is ?service with a smile?!

« Lovely place to stay »

Very friendly staff, couldn't do enough for you. Lovely food. & reasonably priced. Lovely place to stay although shower could be updated but bed was really comfy. Not far from the centre of Dunfermline.

« Good accommodation, moderate restaurant »

We stayed here over night during our holiday trip. The accommodation is very good. Great rooms well equipped. The food and service in the restaurant is no more than moderate. This hotel is also used by bus tourists. And that you can see at the breakfast buffet. The buffet is really plundered. So the normal hotel guests must do with the leftovers. Staff is hardly abled to refill in time. Desk personal during checkout was not so very friendly. Probably it was not here day.

« Great Staff, Great Food, rooms a little ragged »

Real gem of a hotel with great staff, great food and the team can't do enough, when i first stayed rooms had bottles of water and bars in them, they have taken those away and the rooms really do need a revamp, apart from that, fantastic.

« A little hard to find but well worth it. »

A little hard to find but well worth it, especially if you get to meet Audrey. Her help was priceless. We took the train into Edinburgh and enjoyed the town 2days in a row. Skip the castle unless you like weapons .. walk the Royal Mile and visit that castle. The people are sooo friendly.

We had our wedding at the keavil house hotel, it was outstanding for a wedding venue the staff we fantastic and couldn't be more helpful. They went above and beyond the call off duty to make sure our day was so special to us. Special mention to Morag our wedding coordinater she was amazing and make the wedding run to perfection. So in a nutshell if you are thinking off getting married at the keavil house hotel I would say you definitely should. Thanks again to all the staff at the keavil. What an amazing team

    « Relaxing weekend »

Initially we booked into this hotel for somewhere to stay while at knockhill However, the weather on the Saturday was terrible so we opted to stay at the hotel instead. We went to the spa which was lovely quiet and very clean. The only downside is that you need to go out the hotel to get to it but it's just a few steps away and did not bother us at all, staff provided us with locker and towels. We went for dinner in the restaurant which was fantastic. The food was up to a very high standard as was the staff, only issue at dinner was a leek in the conservatory, the rain was coming down so hard it could have not been foreseen and staff dealt with it in a very professional manner. I don't remember his name but the restaurant manager was very nice and took very good care of us at dinner. Breakfast in the morning was not a let down, anything you wanted was there and again cooked to perfection. We were in room 48, very large room with doors leading out to grounds and it's out the way of the noise of wedding or functions. It was warm comfortable and had everything we needed and more. Looking forward to our next visit

« Nice place for a short break »

My wife & I just had a short break at Keavil House. The room could do with a refurb (the base of the bed was tattie, it was a bit tired & dusty), but the dinner was very good & much improved on last time. The staff were excellent. Our main gripe was the lack of consideration for guests who weren't at one of the weddings. Nowhere to sit between the reception & nighttime, children allowed to play anywhere. Good, but not outstanding.

« Poor. Needs to do better »

I recently stayed 1 night for a business trip. Bed was comfortable but the pillows were not. They were very hard. The air vent in the bathroom had a thick covering of dust and had obviously not been cleaned for a while. In the morning I discovered a half empty bottle of shower gel in the shower and very oddly a make up mirror on the corner of the bath. Clearly the room had not been checked. At breakfast all the jugdof friut juice were almost empty, there were no pastries, very little fruit and only half a loaf of bread. I sat in down at a table looking out at the garden which was very pleasant but did not see any waiting staff so did not get offered any tea or toast or eggs cooked to my liking! Checkng out was chaotic and I had to ask for a copy of the bill as was not offered one. Poor service all around.

    « Perfect stay »

We came here to stay on their Sunday deal which included a 3-course meal, room and breakfast for £99. The hotel is very nice with lovely gardens all around. Our room had a door that opened on the the garden and the windows opened so we could enjoy actual fresh air rather than stale air conditioning! There was a chain on the door for security. Bed was comfy, full sized bath and great shower. Dinner was delicious and the deal still have you access to the full menu. We spent the day at the health club which is complimentary for guests. Lovely pool with complementary towels and lockers. All with friendly, helpful staff. Would definitely stay again.

« We were made very welcome »

Superb facilities, great food and wine, excellent staff, value for money if I was finicky enough to complain about anything then it would be that the room for the disabled was a long way from the restaurant .... and that the maitre D wouldn't let me take his chef back home with us.

« Fantastic staff, great hotel in a great location »

My husband and I have just spent three nights at the Keavil on a DB&B basis. The location is beautiful; set in mature woodland with plenty of wildlife - we had a cock pheasant walk past our window every morning and evening, and it was not shy when I wanted to take a photo :-) Thank you to Audrey (Hotel Duty Manager), who was very welcoming on our arrival and always had time to spare to chat with us. The bedroom was immaculate, so a big thank you to the Housekeeping staff for the great job they do, and all done with such a cheerful attitude :-) The Leisure Club is great and the staff were more than happy to accommodate a wheelchair user. All though the level of great staff is high at the hotel, Top marks I have to say, must go to all the Restaurant and Kitchen Staff. The meals were delicious and the service was excellent from happy, courteous and friendly staff, and it was a pleasure to meet them again and to be remembered by them. Steven Clark, Daniel Gale, Sophie Malcolm, Siobhan, Mags Couper, William Rankine and Graham Thouroughgood all deserve a mention and our thanks, but I must give an extra thank you and hearty recommendation to the Managers about Rachel Gillett and Katie Christie. Nothing was too much trouble for them and it was a joy to see them again, with such joy, courtesy and remembrance of our needs. They simply couldn't do enough for us :-) :-) :-) It is unusual to be able to keep a hold of such great staff as they are usually snapped up by the competition, so I can only assume the Keavil have a great work ethic for their staff. My husband and I very much hope to meet them all again on our next visit, which we will try not to leave it so long, like the last time. Massive thanks to the staff again - I can heartily recommend the hotel, the facilities and above all the fantastic staff who ensured we had such a great hotel break.

Not far from Edinburgh this hotel is set up for functions, parties and weddings. Highly efficient staff and lovely gardens. Rooms very clean and although slightly dated decor comfortable and well sound proofed! With two weddings running concurrently it was a a surprise that the food and service was of an excellent standard. Well Done

Great hotel, rooms were very nice. View from room was just lovely. Balcony doors in the room that open into garden, an very friendly pheasant who taps on the door to get fed. Only thing to let it down was the food, wasn't overly impressed with it.

« Always look behind the facade (currently looking a little tired); this is a real hidden gem »

Stayed here as part of a group coach holiday for just one night so didn't have much chance - due to timings of coach holiday - to sample some of the facilities such as spa, gym, pool, etc - which look great from website. However, of the facilities sampled: superb! Lovely room with comfortable bed and plenty of space. Great shower! The evening meal was absolutely delicious, delightful sea bream, in particular, in a charming dining room. The bar area was very pleasant for after dinner drinks. After a good night's sleep enjoyed a great breakfast - what a revelation Bircher muesli is and so delicious that I investigated how to make this when I got home! The place was very clean and all the staff were most polite and helpful; a real credit to the management. Although only there for one night I really enjoyed this hotel and would happily stay again here anytime.

A good standard of hotel. Rooms slightly dated but size and facilities within room impressive. Staff at reception very friendly and helpful including restaurant recommendations and taxi bookings. « Great Wedding at the Keavil House Hotel »

Fantastic wedding and the Hotel - the staff - the room - the meal were all excellent. The staff could not have been more helpful and could not do enough to assist. Being disabled the accommodation and facilities were perfect and it made such a difference to me. The wedding took place in the hotel and it was a beautiful service with the Registrar being very helpful at creating a lovely atmosphere. At breakfast the buffet was ideal and brought an excellent Wedding to a conclusion.

« Great hotel with lovely staff »

Comfortable rooms with lovely surroundings. There are a couple of food options in the evening, a bar menu or a la carte restaurant. Breakfast is very well done with a choice of continental and / or cooked. Rachel and the rest of the restaurant staff couldn't be better. There a full sports complex on site including a good sized pool. It would have been a 5 star if not for the four (quite loud) weddings that were going on during our weekend staying at the hotel. That said even with all the wedding guests we still felt well looked after.

    « Easter Getaway »

Spent 2 nights at the hotel over the Easter period and having arrived we were dealt with at reception very quickly and directed to our room. We were at the furthest end of the hotel which was a 100m approx. walk from reception but thankfully meant no passing traffic from other guests at night. Room was adequate for our needs if maybe a little dark but the bed was comfy to sleep in after first thinking it a little hard to sit on. we went to the restaurant in the evening and found the menu a bit pricey, i ordered a prawn and salmon cocktail for £8 and when it arrived i was very disappointed, it was a pile of shredded lettuce with a very small amount of salmon in the middle and 3 prawns around the edge of the plate with a very cheffy drizzel of marie rose sauce on it. No way was it an £8 starter and what made it worse was when i lifted the first prawn i found it to be only a half one (i nearly laughed). Pointed it out to staff but still awaiting a response. Our mains had a rice accompanyment and it lacked flavour and reminded us both of sachet of precooked rice you can buy in supermarket. With a beer and a soft drink it was almost £47 which was to expensive as the following night we ate out and we had a better meal for half the price. Breakfast was good with the usual selection of items available with some being cooked to order. The pool area is nice with the pool being a good size, seperate jacuzzi and sauna and steam room. The surrounding area is nice and it is close to some attractions such as Deep Sea World which we visited and Dunfermline is only 10 minutes away by car for you to have a wander around. Overall the hotel is on par with similar priced establishments my main concern was the pricing of the restaurant items which to me where about 20% above what the should have been.

    5
    « Excellent Service »

Staff were very friendly and attentive a warm and pleasant greeting on arrival. Ate in the restaurant and the food and service could not be faulted top class.Room was clean and tidy and more than adequate.

« Great Hotel for Exploring Dunfermline / Edinburgh Areas »

Visited this hotel in April 2017 with my partner as it was a gift from Christmas time. We didn't know what to expect really and it was a little further than we usually travel for a break. However any initial worry was soon alleviated after we arrived in the grounds of Keavil House. Lovely hotel set in very nice grounds, although does feel a little like you are driving through a housing estate initially to get to it. Nearby is a play park for kids and a large area to run, play with the family or play sports. Ample parking on the hotel sit which feels safe and secure. The check in was very simple, and all staff are extremely pleasant throughout the hotel. Room was very spacious with a good view onto the surrounding private gardens. Used all the leisure facilities which were great and again staff extremely helpful and friendly. Pool was a good size, gym well equipped and changing areas ample. Didn't manage to use the spa facilities whilst staying but will in future when we return. As part of the deal we had a 3 course meal in the Cardoon Restaurant and the food was excellent. All three courses were great quality food and accompanied by a good wine selection and friendly knowledgeable staff. The bar had a great selection of drinks and particularly gin which we are big fans of. Superb selection with a few different tonics too. Comfortable stay in the room, nice and peaceful with a good nights sleep. Breakfast was buffet style and again great quality throughout. Good selection of hot and continental style options with a vast array of drinks. All in all a great stay and we will definitely be back.

I decided we were going to enjoy every moment of my friends wedding so booked to to stay at the hotel too. I started off the day by booking in with Sharon the on site hairdresser, she pampered me and gave me an extremely stylish hair up and took the time to ask what i liked etc meanwhile my partner went for a swim and a Jacuzzi We then checked in to a very stylish and comfortable room with some really special toiletries to help make you feel more stylish During the day the staff could not be more helpful, the wedding was perfect in every way , the set up was beautiful and the food fantastic. I will now look to book again for a relaxing night

I have to say I could not fault the staff nor the hotel for their amazing help all weekend. even finding me sandpaper to rough up shoes on the wedding morning .Fluffy duck a big thank you not just for that but everything else you helped with. Also the staff were amazing before the wedding, during and after this meant a huge array of people all of whom made it a very special weekend. You helped make this day beautiful. Many thanks. I would certainly stay again. pool was great and the food excellent. I had an executive double and very nice it was too. Can not fault the housekeeping as my room was immaculate and they gave me extra coffee almost constantly to help with the amount of 'can I use your room to change in guests' I had on the Saturday morning. really lovely.

    « Fantastic Value »

Just stayed one night at the hotel and although the rooms could do with updating it was very clean and covered all the basics. The location is superb but best of all are the staff. They are extremely welcoming from the reception to the bar and the restaurant. Nothing was too much trouble and they are always on hand. The food is excellent with two menus to choose from either the bar menu or the main restaurant menu. If you want to sit in the main bar area and watch TV they are only too happy to accommodate. The hotel has a Spa and Gymnasium which is open to none residents and judging by the car park appears to be popular. Business or leisure I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. The staff will amaze you. Enjoy

    « Expected more ... »

So attended my cousins wedding which was great and a good night. However based on the hotel I feel it was "Average" and needing slight improvement. The room was lovely but our spirits where dashed when we all had to go for a shower before getting ready to discover it was broken (room 115) And we had to call reception to help fix it which they showed us that the repair they had previously asked for was not carried out and we had to wrestle with the shower whilst scalding yourself to turn it to a reasonable heat and amount of water flow. I also asked if I could vape in the room and was told no yet the receptionist in the morning was sat vaping in reception ? At breakfast I asked the staff for a tall glass instead of a tumbler for apple juice, I was told no I was not allowed so I asked a manager who gave me one in the end. Went to ask reception for a sanitary towel for my sister to which the receptionist loudly said "IS IT FOR HER PERIOD" I'm confused to what else it could be for and why the need to shout it. On a positive note Phillip in your FB team was a delight and recommend he be a team leader or something as he was so helpful when others couldn't be bothered. So nice hotel has its problems but reception in the morning are rude.

Had an amazing stay at your hotel last weekend. Deal included breakfast and evening meal. Upon arrival we were told we had received a complimentary upgrade. The room was beautiful. Look forward to returning in the better weather and being able to open the door onto the gardens. Bar service was great and drinks what you would expoevt to pay in a 4* hotel. Restaurant was amazing in the evening with an extensive menu choice. In the morning we were able to order breakfast to be cooked freshly as the usual hot buffet was not on as the hotel was quiet. Made full use of the pool and sauna which were spotlessly clean. All of the staff were very friendly and we can't wait to return.

Cozy, nice and relaxing hotel in Crossford with wonderful and helpful personal. Just beside you find a really nice health club with pool, saunas and a well equipped gym. I have tried single, double standard and there executive rooms and can highly recommend the double standard and the executive with there comfy beds. Had a couple of good nights sleep :-) The hotel Wi-if is better than the average in UK but still poor compared with Nordic standards. I will also recommend the lounge/bar as a nice place for a drink and some food. /Jörgen

« Bad sleep and hard to find »

I had never been to the area before and used Sat Nav but the post code didn't work as I drove past where Sat Nav said it would be and almost turned around but due to the roads was unable to do in continuing on I came to the sign that I recognised from google I turned down a narrow slip road and again I thought surely I've gone wrong but I kept going so I could turn around but after a few minutes I saw a sign for hotel reception. It was all very unhelpful to someone travelling a distance and unfamiliar with the area, more signs are needed. So room was quite dated and a bit shabby with paper thin walls, my neighbour snored like a freight train so from 3am on no sleep for me. Bed was hard (sore back) and pillows limp and flat. No air conditioner in room to act as white noise to defuse the snoring so just all over poor. Also no heat control unless you count the ability to open the windows. I wouldn't recommend it for sleep at all unless they have a major refurbishment to sort out the issues. The restaurant however was superb and I highly recommend it on its service and food.

This is the worst hotel I've stayed in.y company booked a single room for some night where the stay was nearly £100 a night. For that I got a room that you stand in the middle and touch both sides. The hotel and room is old fashioned (old carpets etc). I couldn't even hand my shirts up in the closet as the safe etc meant clothing didn't have enough room to hang. If I had paid £30 a night u might not have an issue but for that price you can stay down the road in the Dakota for £80 a night. Do not book this hotel it is terrible. I wouldn't let my worst enemy or an animal stay in some of the rooms.

First time we had visited a Best Western Hotel. Enjoyed the Beauty treatments with Anne, who is a lovely lady (Book in advance).Very relaxing experience! Nice to be pampered! We then spent time in the swimming pool and sauna, hot tub, steam room. We also had the option of gym and sunbed. What I would suggest is if you are having any massages in the beauty room,to book them for later on,if you are going to be working out.The room was fine, not cold, and with a large TV.The evening dinner was superb, with a good choice. I had the soup, then fish as a main course, which was delicious, and left just enough room for the sticky toffee pud. I found the staff very pleasant and attentive throughout the meal. The breakfast on the Sunday morning was excellent with a very good range of food, from the running buffet full breakfast of bacon, sausage, etc., cold buffet,or freshly cooked veggie breakfast, porridge etc., Again the staff were very helpful.A very pleasant weekend.

« Good but quite disappointing »

We stayed here on Oct 22 for one night, on arrival room was big and clean. Leisure facilities fantastic, staff amazing, but that's sadly where it stops. Whilst having dinner I had the salmon starter, which was accompanied by a large piece of mud on the end of the which you will see on the picture I have moved off my salmon. Steak was good, room was too hot, had all 3 windows open and heating off and ended up with a migraine cause I couldn't sleep due to the heat. Was looking forward to breakfast as I wasn't feel my well during the night. Best thing about breakfast was the toast, no tatty scones, fried eggs which we ordered from the kitchen were not cooked properly, the scrambled eggs were like porridge, sausages were soft, good hash browns though. Sadly will not be back, only giving it 2 stars due to room being clean, hash browns were good and my partner enjoyed his soup. Although food looked good it was a major let down for me as this was what I was looking forward to the minute we booked.

    « Another great stay »

We had a great stay here. Room spacious with good facilities. Quiet location with plenty parking. Pool clean with good changing facilities. Dinner well presented and really tasty. WiFi worked fairly well. Great location for visiting Pittencrief park and Dunfermline Abbey.

    « Last-minute overnight break( Special Offer) »

This was our second visit to the hotel and as last time we found it to be excellent. All the staff were lovely and friendly and food was beautiful. We also enjoyed the swimming pool and gym facilities. Very good train service from Dunfermline into centre of Edinburgh and 15-20 minute drive to The Kelpies from hotel which is well worth a visit.

« Excellent place to stay and eat »

Being recently on my Mediterranean holiday I was missing the famous Keavil mackerel risotto! Excellent food, location and spa facilities. The hotel and restaurant personnel is very friendly, skilled and always trying to make sure your stay is a very pleasant experience.

    « Excellent once more »

Stayed here for one night as part of a coach party. The room was a good size and very clean, the bed was very comfortable and unusually there was two pillows plus spare ones so didn't have to contact reception for more. A good hospitality tray and toileteries. With being a party we didn't have the normal menu but there was a good choice and it was excellent. A good choice at breakfast although buffet there was also things you could order specially at no extra charge. The staff were very professional and friendly. Would definately stay again. Just one point there is no lift at the hotel so if needed request a ground floor room.

« Disappointing room for the price advertised »

I've stayed in this hotel every time I've worked in Dunfermline and have alway liked it, not this time though. The outside of the hotel is not very attractive, however the reception and public areas are very nicely decorated, especially the restaurant. It has an on site gym and swimming pool which is in very good condition and makes the hotel good value for money usually. The double rooms in the newer part of the hotel are very nice, with a good view and nicely decorated. This time I'm in the old part of the hotel in a single room. It's very small and the furniture is a old and a bit worn. It has the feel of a b&b with old fashion curtains that don't match the valance on the bed. The room has just been painted and is still tacky so it smells very strong. The mattress was very old and uncomfortable. When I complained the staff tried their best to help and changed the mattress for me but I couldn't move rooms as they were full. They offered a discount (it was massively overpriced) but they should not have had this room occupied smelling as it did.

    « Wedding reception »

Good service, buffet lovely, They had two tables out so there was not the usual long queue for the buffet. Afterwards they cleaned up the tables quickly and efficiently. We found the drinks a bit expensive. Nice atmosphere for a wedding although music a bit loud .

    « Spa lunch »

Had a group on voucher, me and my sister enjoyed an afternoon in the spa, which was lovely, good size pool and has other spa facilities like steam room and sauna. Staff at the spa were helpful and friendly. The lunch part of the deal was served in the hotel restaurant, the building is lovely, nice decor, staff well presented. Staff very knowledgeable about the menu, had fish and chips, then cheesecake which was amazing!!! Would recommend for lunch, dinner, any occasion.

    « Overnight stay »

I was at a wedding nearby and had an overnight stay,The Room i was given was lovely i have stayed other places in the past and when you are on your own the room you get can be tiny but not this one you could have had a party in it. When it came to breakfast there was everything you could want, the staff were very friendly and helpful you just had to ask.

« Best wedding day everrrrr! »

We had our wedding at the beginning of September in the Elgin Suite in Keavil House Hotel and it was the best day ever! The staff and their service are just first class. Craig was our coordinator and he was calm, friendly and organised and everything went without a hitch. He explained the order of things clearly as we went along and it made every minute enjoyable. The bar staff were quick, efficient and always had a friendly smile for my guests. The suite is just gorgeous, beautiful decor, spacious and clean. Toilets are immaculate. We have had lots of great comments from happy guests on the way they turn the suite around with the champagne reception happening in the bar area - this is a smooth process and a perfect way for the bridal party to get photos without being interrupted. We went for the premier package that included chair sashes and table centrepieces and the ladies that organise these are the friendlisest most helpful people on earth. They helped my ideas come to life! Just so happy with the way everything went! Don't hesitate to book here!

« Most friendly and helpful staff »

We stayed here for 1 night as a birthday treat and planned to treat it as a spa break but the beautician was on holiday so never got to use the salon or spa. Our executive room was large and comfortable, it got extremely warm at night but a call to reception had a fan sent to our room within minutes. We had a lovely stay in such a peaceful location. Every staff member we met from the reception to the restaurant were polite, happy and helpful an absolute asset to the place.

« Itison Voucher Spa and Lunch »

Had a great visit. Nice pool, hot tub, steam room and sauna. Just one gripe about the Spa part of our visit. There were children constantly using the hot tub whilst we were there, not even necessarily being supervised by adults. I noted that children under the age of 8/9 are not permitted to used the Sauna, Steam room and Jacuzzi, but these kids were definitely about 5. We were able to use the jacuzzi so it wasn't a massive big deal, but do think these things should be exclusively for adults. Great that there were good showers and changing facility's too. Had lunch which was fantastic. Great staff and plenty of food options to choose from. Visited the bathrooms at the reception area, and unfortunately for me, overheard two of the foulest mouthed service staff I have ever heard! They were wearing chambermaid type outfits. I can use bad language with the best of them, but this was taking swearing to a new level. Got the shock of their lives when they realized I was in there with them. The hotel might want to make a point of raising this as had this been a child or a older customer, this experience could have been escalated into a formal complaint. Will definitely be back though nonetheless as my overall experience was a good one!

    « Lovely lunch »

Had an it is on voucher - 2 course lunch and use of leisure facilities for £18 for 2 people. Nice and clean leisure suite had use of gym sauna steam room and jacuzzi. Hairdryers provided in changing room and private showers - no need for money for locker either as these are courtesy. Decided to have buffet lunch choice of pasta chicken fish and steak pie although this had a mash topping rather than pastry which I thought was peculiar. Food tasted fresh and hot. Dessert choice fab and drinks reasonably priced. Waiting Staff seemed pleasant although my friend overheard housekeeping staff using very inappropriate language when she visited the bathroom.

    « Lovely Lunch »

I have been having lunch regularly during the week at Keavil. Prices are very reasonable, and the food is consistently good. Service is excellent (thank you William and colleagues), and the view of the gardens beautiful. I had another one today - roll on next time!

    « Hidden Gem »

Only ever driven past the drive of the Hotel. Pleasantly surprised - quite a long drive way. Check in was quick and easy, reception staff very friendly. Our room was quite a distance away in the hotel involving stairs, not a problem for us but maybe for those unsteady on feet or with young children. Room high standard, paid a wee bit extra. Bathroom had both a bath and shower. There was a wedding on at the same time as the function we were attending and there was an issue with water late evening, told the water tank got drained by a running tap left on so there was a period when toilets were not flushing. Didn't affect us to be honest and water was back by the time we returned to our room (after 12 midnight). Good variation of breakfast food but could get busy and uncomfortable at peak breakfast time - genuinely a hidden gem, enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

« Silver wedding anniversary party »

Had a fantastic night in the Elgin Suite, and stayed overnight in the hotel. From the original enquiry to book the party, to running the event on the night, the staff couldn't have been better. I should especially mention Nicola who was our hostess on the night as well as main point of contact during the preparations. She made our ideas come to life and made it a memorable night for us. The buffet on the night, as well as lunch in the Cardoon Restaurant and breakfast on Saturday couldn't be improved upon. The staff in the Restaurant were friendly and helpful. Having stayed previously, the bedrooms have recently been upgraded to a high standard. Would recommend this hotel for functions using either of the function suites available.

    « Keavil House Hotel »

A peaceful location but close to main routes. There are plenty of places to visit nearby and lots to see. We stayed for three nights in an Executive Twin Room and had dinner, bed and breakfast. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. High standards of cleanliness were evident throughout the whole hotel and leisure facilities. All staff were polite, friendly and attentive. The food was very good indeed. Overall a most enjoyable break. Would definitely recommend this hotel and return in the future.

    « Relaxing Break »

Keavil House is a lovely hotel situated between the Kincardine and Forth Road Bridges. The hotel grounds are well kept and picturesque. The room had all necessary modern amenities, the bed was very comfortable. As it was an old building so the floor was a little uneven in parts but this was a very minor fault. The staff were 1st class both at reception and in the restaurant and the food delicious. Would definitely recommend a stay if visiting the Dunfermline area.

    « Fantastic stay »

« Amazing Evening Meal, Lovely Hotel »

Stayed for 1 night in a standard room which was very spacious. The two twin beds that had been joined together had seen better days but i slept fairly well, the other half not so much however. We used the pool which was clean and had friendly staff then headed to the lounge bar for some drinks before dinner. Again friendly staff, reasonable prices and a comfortable atmosphere. We had reservations for 7pm and were provided a menu whilst we had drinks in the bar, the south african restaurant manager came through to ask if we would prefer to order our food and wait in the bar which we did. The food was ready promptly and served hot. Every course (we had three) was absolutely delicious, staff were attentive and friendly without being over the top. Because we booked direct we were also received £5 off each meal and complimentary first drink which was a wonderful added bonus! Breakfast the following morning was a slight disappointment for myself as i was really looking forward to the Scottish aspects of breakfast, because it was fairly quiet some items such as the haggis and black pudding dried out, there was plenty of other items to choose from and again the staff were all very friendly and attentive, there to take orders for omelettes and smoked salmon etc. We would not hesitate to book again, even if just for the evening meal alone! We had been 2 years ago also for a wedding which was also lovely, where we did have an amazing breakfast and very comfortable bed also!!!

« Excellent staff and excellent service »

The main thing with this hotel is the staff especially the bar staff, Gavin , Colin, Dave and Ali. They are always helpful and do their best to sort out any issues that we have. A special mention must also go to the restaurant staff and reception staff.

    « Wonderful 3 day stay! »

We had a lovely 3 night stay here while we were touring Edinburgh. This hotel was a nice quiet treat for us to return to after spending 2 very busy days in Edinburgh. We had all 3 of our dinners at the hotel because the food and service were excellent. Breakfast was also delicious with many choices. Etienne, the restaurant manager, was especially helpful and provided great service along with his staff. Our hotel room was very comfortable. Loved the large indoor pool which was perfect for lap swimming. The changing rooms were clean and very modern. The grounds are also lovely, especially for walking after dinner. I would definitely recommend the BW Keavil House Hotel!

Received a one night stay with evening meal and breakfast as a wedding gift...we couldn't fault anything at all...the hotel is lovely as are the surroundings..both evening meal and breakfast we were served up top quality food. We were supposed to be using the pool and other leisure facilities early on the sunday morning but unfortunately we overslept... We definitely recommend here for a treat.

We only stayed for 1 night, but enjoyed a lovely meal in the restaurant and used the excellent gym facilities in the morning. Rooms were spacious and comfortable and staff friendly and helpful. Strangely, they also have one of the longest driveways I've come across in a while!

« Lovely Hotel with excellent service! »

Stayed for four nights on our trip to Scotland with my husband and teenage son! The entire staff were great and nothing was too much trouble and anything we asked for was sorted sraight away! The Restaurant staff were particularly attentive and friendly! They ensured we were well looked after even though they were busy with bus tours and other parties! The food was excellent, large portions, well presented and always hot! They do only change the menu every few months, so on a four night stay we may have struggled ( even with a specials night) however we were lucky and they changed the menu half way through our stay! I have to say the second menu suited our taste better, the Featherblade was to die for and the "puds" were fantastic. Rooms were great, really large and clean. We stayed in an interconnecting Executive room, so meant our son had his own room but we could be together easily if we needed to be. It was like having our own suit! The only critism was the showers over the bath! They were not great and kept altering temperation! Also as my son had had a Knee Operation he could not get into the bath. I had mentioned this before our stay but was told that the only walk in showers were in the disabled rooms and not interconnecting! I know my elderly mother and her friends would also struggle to get in the baths. Just a suggestion but maybe when the hotel does some alterations they could put in more rooms with walk in showers, i know an awful lot of people including myself who prefer to shower! Also i would ask for a first floor room as the floors do creak a bit and if you have unconsiderate guests above you like we did on one night of our stay it can be annoying, they woke us up at around 5.00am i really can't imagin what they were up to, however i do understand that is not the fault of the hotel. All in all though we really enjoyed our stay and would certainly return and recommend it.

« Nice leisure facilities, good steaks. »

Booked a one night b&b through best western. Room was quite small and you hit your arm on the toilet roll holder as it was so close to the toilet. Got showered in leisure facilities as room had shower curtain and water tends to go everywhere. Pool and jacuzzi were good, very clean showers and lockers and towels provided free . All staff, from reception to bar and waitresses were very friendly and polite. Food was very good. My husband said his sirloin steak was one of the best he's ever had! Only downside was skinny fries were like macdonalds! Not what you'd expect in a decent restaurant. Dessert was lovely but they did forget to put biscuits on cheeseboard. Breakfast lovely, plenty of choice. Did try and charge us for room even though we had paid on booking. Soon rectified by reception. If returning would do so on a dbb deal as expensive for what we got.

    « A night away »

Well, wow, what a place, beautiful grounds, good amenities, Great staff. Arrived just after 2pm, check in was a breeze, room was superb (Executive double). Next a drink in the bar, two weddings were on, so pretty busy, Would I get married there.... YEP! So after a beer, back to the room. Bathroom really nice, deep relaxing bath, great shower, Good 'Pinchables' (lol, check their website), so down for dinner. Busy but Fantastic service, Starters were great, Main was Great, Desert was Great, Wine was Brilliant, Portions were huge, I didn't finish any course, they were so big. Back to the room. Then the downside, due to two wedding parties at the hotel, ultra busy, Breakfast, no glasses for Orange Juice, remedied in a couple of minutes, Ordered Fried eggs (Order any eggs you want, they will cook to order), Eggs arrived, so off to get the rest of Breakfast, Bacon, ran out, Black Pudding ran out, Haggis Ran out..... so eggs, with Sausage an Mushrooms. 5 minutes later, Haggis and Black pudding appeared, but I had finished by then, so a little (read lot) disappointed, the a few minutes later Bacon appeared.... It actually spoiled the stay. Would I recommend them... YES... Value for money 4 out of 5. Hints and tips, ask if weddings are on, if two, Breakfast Early. Can I fault the staff, NO, can I fault the quality, NO, will I stay there again. YES. A great place for a swift relaxing break. It also has a pool, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, beauticians, pool, Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna included, pool can be a tad busy, but overall, excellent

    « 2 day break in Fife »

2 day DBB deal with Itison. Lovely hotel. Great staff. The restaurant is exceptional and worth the stay just for the food. We booked for dinner both nights and glad we did as a wedding was on the first night but although packed the staff coped wonderfully. The pool and Jacuzzi are great and they have 2 saunas wet and dry. I have stayed before on business and we will certainly stay again if we are in the area.

« Two night DBB break »

Got a 2 night bargain DBB offer and as we had been to this hotel before we decided to return. We were given an executive room which was large, with large TV, and a large bed. The hotel is very clean and the staff are very pleasant and can`t do enough for you.

    « 2 Day Break »

Great hotel in great location but the best thing about it are the staff. Every single one will go out of their way to make your stay as good as it can be. The restaurant was busy both nights we were there, but they are very well organised and coped very well. We pre-paid our meals and they were fabulous. We will definately go there again.

    « Great weekend break »

We're just back from a three night stay with 'Itison' vouchers. Value for money was exceptional. We were dinner, b&b and in a spacious, clean room. Surprisingly, there was no restriction or value placed on dinner (three courses plus tea/coffee), except for a surplus on a steak. Breakfast buffet was comprehensive, and of a perfectly acceptable standard. The hotel is quiet, two weddings on the Saturday night and we didn't hear any noise. From housekeeping, to reception to restaurant the staff were were very friendly and obliging, enhancing a very enjoyable, relaxing weekend. Wouldn't hesitate to return.

    « Fabulous »

We arrived on Friday night, were in room 39 a very spacious room with a lovely bathroom and views overlooking the garden. Dinner was excellent, Steven the restaurant manager was most friendly and very welcoming, we enjoyed drinks from lovely bar staff, had a brilliant sleep and a beautiful breakfast after our swim, sauna, jacuzzi in the leisure club in the morning. A hidden gem, would highly recommend, all the staff were lovely, a real credit to this hotel, will definitely be returning.

    « Lovely break away! »

Stayed here with two Itison vouchers used on consecutive nights with DBB. Had a wee glitch trying to book, but on my third attempt was sorted, thank you Suzanne! We had a ground floor room which had patio doors, wasn't overly big but very nice. All staff were very friendly and professional at the same time, however, I must say that Steven Clark(Restaurant Supervisor) and the serving staff in the Restaurant were absolutely superb, both at breakfast and dinner! They are a credit to the hotel! The food was absolutely amazing too! Nothing on the menu was out of bounds except the Ribeye steak which had a supplement, but the Flatiron steak was included and superb! All food was beautifully cooked and presented-thanks to the chef! Will have no hesitation in returning, hopefully in the near future! Thanks again!

    « VERY ENJOYABLE STAY ! »

Was taken here on Friday night, for a surprise overnight stay, by my husband. It was lovely , and even the staff at reception gave us a really nice welcome. Room 37 was Huge, spotless, and had a wet room. We spent some time in the Leisure centre , which was very clean, and bright. The food was excellent, Dinner, as well as breakfast, which has a magnificent choice of hot and cold buffet food, and you can also order straight from the kitchen, so freshly made. Staff are lovely and nothing is too much trouble

« A lovely hotel with super staff. »

We stayed at Keavil House as a group of three couples to celebrate my father-in-law's 99th birthday. Everything was good. The spa/leisure centre is one of the best-kept I've ever seen, with a comfortable pool, properly warm jacuzzi, sauna and steam room; friendly, even down to lockers that don't require a pound coin to release the key. We had executive rooms which are good-sized and well furnished with everything you'd expect. The bathrooms are well-fitted and immaculate. The free wifi was fast. The dinner menu was superb with a really interesting and varied set of modern Scottish/UK dishes using local produce, and good quality wines at reasonable prices (ours were under £25). No wonder the restaurant has won so many "rosettes". On a DBB room rate, many hotels sneakily restrict the "dinner", but at Keavil House, the full menu choice was available, including coffee - only steaks cost anything extra. This is how it should be done - much appreciated! Best of all, the staff were without exception superb - reception, leisure, housekeeping, dinner, breakfast - every one clearly took real pride in the place and in providing cheerful, friendly, fine service. Will we back? - certainly!

    « Haste Ye back »

Lost count how many times we have stayed at this hotel. We really like the whole experience and it is a experience ! The hotel and gardens are great, the staff who all seem to stay locally are lovely and very knowledgeable and may I say proud of there workplace. Crossford is a quaint wee village, there is a garden centre which is worth a visit. Less than five minute drive takes you in to Dunfermline which has loads of attractions. We have on occasion got the train from Dunfermline into Edinburgh, much easier than trying to park in the capital. We can also recommend this hotel for New year as we stayed here for 3 days over new year in 1999. The health and leisure centre is well worth a visit too and is free to all hotel guests.

    « Fantastic Wedding »

We held our wedding here in July and could not fault Alistair and his team - we had a fabulous day despite the torrential rain, not least due to their special efforts to ensure we had a fab day/evening. They even ordered in our favourite champagne for our room although they did not stock it! All our guests had a great time, in particular our family from down south who enjoyed 4 nights here. Thanks again!

    « A great venue for a great wedding »

My niece and her now husband held their wedding at the keavil in April and what a fabulous day was had by all. The wedding was held in the Elgin Suite, it's such a lovely room and was set up exactly as the bride wanted it for the ceremony, day and evening reception. The staff were excellent, food delicious and the atmosphere was perfect. The bar was well staffed so there were no longer waits for drinks. The garden was ideal for pictures. Couldn't have asked for more.

« Yet another little treat! »

Keavil House is no distance from the Motorway but the quiet atmosphere makes for a peaceful night.Even when there is a wedding on, you never hear anything. The rooms are large, the hospitality trays generous and replenished daily, the beds extremely comfortable and you can open a window and have fresh air, HEAVEN compared with most hotels! The food is excellent and we appreciated being able to book a table in advance. As always the swimming pool was spotless with friendly staff. We`ll be back!

« BEST Western? WORST Western! »

TERRIBLE!!! First impression of hotel wasn't great - run down and definitely NOT a 4 star! Checked into room 101 (an executive room)... Would hate to see a standard if that's an executive. The stairs leading to the room were filthy and badly needed a Hoover, the wooden sills outside the rooms (in the corridor) were in a similar state. First impression of room - a great size, but insulting yellow painted walls with shabby blue headboards & stained Divan bed cover. The windowsill hasn't been dusted in a long time, as shown by the dirt after carefully moving the unwashed netting. We ditched our bags and headed to the leisure centre (a building directly across from reception). The swimming pool was great, nice & clean. A hot tub, sauna and steam room are all included in the free access, alongside a free towel & locker. This is by far the best (and perhaps the only good) thing about this hotel. We went for dinner (was on a DB&B inclusive rate), this was the worst meal we have had in a long time. From starter to dessert it was terrible, from the quality of the food to the lack of experienced staff. I have left a detailed review of the meal in the Cardoon Restaurant tripadvisor page. We then went to the bar for a few drinks. The barmen are very polite, and very consistent in serving you your drinks, they seem a lot more experienced, or so we thought. The bar is described as a "cocktail lounge" in the Guest Information book. When we asked about cocktails, we were told "no we don't do cocktails, not fancy ones anyway. We can make up a screwdriver or something like that though". We stuck to our usual drink. I pulled open the shower curtain the next morning, and was pretty disgusted. The shower VERY BADLY needs a good scrub, and the shower curtains are obviously not washed regularly (I've posted pics). We went down to breakfast, hoping this could be the savour of the hotel. There are cold and hot options available at the buffet, and also hot options from the kitchen (poached eggs, etc). We were asked if we would like tea or coffee and toast, and then seated at a table. A young girl arrived at the table with coffee pots and toast, and then left without muttering a word. We weren't asked if we would like any eggs, etc from the kitchen, and we never had any coffee cups or teaspoons on the table, and no staff ever approached our table again. So we went wondering round to find our own coffee cups, spoons and saucers. We then helped ourselves to the hot(ish) food display - overcooked rubbery sausages and tasteless black pudding, warm orange juice (we saw a member of staff emptying two non chilled cartons of juice into the jug)... Not quite the savour we were hoping for. When checking out, the lady asked how everything was. When I replied saying the room could do with a good clean, she just said oh I'll pass that on. Poor show Keavil house, poor show!

    « Gym membership »

My boyfriend and I joined the gym and spa, purchasing an annual membership. Was very expensive however we seen it as worth while as when we visited the place was lovely, lovely grounds and the pool was peaceful not busy at all. We soon realises this wasn't always the case. Kids everywhere at times which made it hard to lane swim. Furthermore the part in which you lane swim can fit maximum 3 people at any one time. This would be fine if it wasn't for teh fact that around 10 people at the one time wanted to use the lane swimming area. It's a beautiful place, lovely gardens. But not the relaxing place you see at first glimpse as it gets very busy and almost ruins the tranquility and elegance you expect from the landscape and the price tag.

    « FOOD FABULOUS »

We had an absolute fantastic overnight in the Keavil Hotel, we were greeted by a lovely gentleman who came across as a manager although I didn't note his name, he was extremely pleasant, professional and arranged to take our bags as we arrived slightly early for our room. We then enjoyed an absolutely beautiful 3 course lunch in main restaurant and the food was outstanding, absolutely delicious, all the food was amazing including the next days cooked breakfast when I had an omelette, again cooked to perfection, chef should be commended. An absolute fantastic stay, staff were so friendly and welcoming, particularly Rachel in the restaurant.

    « 4 night stay touring area »

Staff was fantastic, friendly and attentive. Executive room was spacious and comfortable. Access to gym and pool a big plus. Breakfast, bar and meals were great. Location made for easy central access for visiting Edinburgh to the east, Stirling to the west and St. Andrews to the northeast. Room could use AC (we slept with window open) and organized recycling in the hotel would be a plus. Wifi was the fastest and most reliable of any hotel from our three week trip around the UK.

« Booked for a one night stay »

On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff and our room was impressive. Leisure facilities were great. We went for dinner and my wife ordered two fish dishes which were tasteless and un-appetising.. To be fair, my steak was good. I asked for cheeses for for afters which I got. I asked for a cheese knife and received a standard dinner knife, obviously not for cheese, but I didn't make a fuss. Went back to room and watched TV. Switched off all lights at bedtime and tried to sleep, but fan in bathroom kept going. Took card out of wall, but still it kept going. Little or no sleep. Breakfast- another story. Mine was OK from the buffet, but Mrs asked for gluten free toast. It arrived and was mouldy. It was replaced with sincere apologies, but should not have been served in the first place. Food a big disappointment.

    « Fabulous wedding »

We stayed at Keavil House whilst celebrating a friend's wedding and found the whole experience exceptional. We were looked after from the minute we arrived and the staff really couldn't do enough for us. I found the hotel to be of a great standard, clean warm and welcoming and would like to pay tribute to the night porter who took care of us in the early hours. I would definitely recommend this hotel as a wedding venue.

    « Lovely relaxing break »

Stayed here on a wee weekend away with hubby. Hotel is set in a lovely quiet location and only 5 min drive from the town of Dunfermline. Check was quick and easy and our room was nice with French doors opening onto the garden. Pool area was good size and nice sauna and steam room too. We only ate breakfast in the hotel but it had a great range of foods and the staff were fantastic and nothing a problem. Will deffo stay again if in the area ??

    « Keavil House Hotel »

My husband and I stayed at this hotel (DBB) for the second time last weekend 17th July. I was really looking forward to going back as our last visit for our anniversary was excellent. We stayed in one of the ground floor premier rooms with patio doors out to the garden. We were not disappointed. This time we stayed in a standard room on the 1st floor which was extremely spacious and comfortable with views overlooking the garden. Robes, slippers, toiletries etc provided. We had a bar lunch before relaxing in the spa for a couple of hours and later enjoyed a lovely dinner. Food and service excellent. I can highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely be back.

« 3 star at a push, restaurant really lets this hotel down »

My boyfriend and I stayed at the hotel to celebrate my birthday. We were both really looking forward to it but I have to say, we were quite disappointed. Because the hotel is advertised as 4 star Best Western Plus we expected the hotel to be exceptional. The room was a great size and was very clean, so we were happy with that. We also loved the leisure facilities. However it was the restaurant that really let the hotel down and why I would not go back/ recommend this hotel. The meal at dinner was delicious and there was a great selection but the restaurant felt very unclean. There were horrible stains on the bench/ sofa and it was really far away from the table. The waitresses didn't really seem to know what they were doing as they didn't know what beers were available when asked and dropped/ spilled things a few times. It was breakfast that really annoyed me though. We were shown to a table and given toast and someone else's used butter. Just revolting! A four star hotel should be resetting and restocking every table so it looks as if no-one has sat there before. The plates for the buffet were very grubby. I had to move a few to find a clean one but wish I hadn't. Everything was burnt/ over cooked. How a four star hotel can burn baked beans is beyond me. So overall the hotel itself and the rooms are fine. However there is a lot that needs to be done to live up to the expectations of a 4 star Best Western Plus.

« Superb staff in a great hotel »

Sarah on reception was very professional and accommodating to my enquiry for a room and booked my husband and I into a spacious "superior room" boasting a lovely view of the mature hotel grounds for a very reasonable price. On arrival, we were met by Sarah and Audrey, and our expectations were certainly were not let down. I have to say the staff at Keavil House Hotel were all outstanding; particularly Etienne (Restaurant Manager) who clearly exceeds the normal management credentials, as his team are all extremely courteous, helpful and professional and simply cannot do enough for the customer. A huge thank you to Etienne, Steven, Holly, Sophie, Jasmine, Sheldon, Christy, Erin, Andy, William, Rachel, Tabby and the rest of the restaurant team. The meals were delicious, with a broad selection offered and large portions - thanks to the Chefs and kitchen staff. David and Rebecca in the bar were also very cheerful and kind. The hotel rooms were very clean and tidy - thanks to Amanda and the rest of the housekeeping staff. Also Jason in maintenance was also incredibly cheery and helpful. The hotel boasts a great leisure club and team (Shannon and Jason in particular were very helpful showing me around with the utmost kindness to make sure it was suitable for me (as I am confined to a wheelchair). Also "Hi Gorgeous" hair and beauty is a "must" place to visit. Sharon in the hair salon was friendly and kind, and cut my hair to perfection - thank you very much. Hotel staff are often the "make or break" to a hotel's reputation, and I can happily state that Keavil staff are superb. My husband and I had a great three nights stay and we were sad to leave, although we are both determined that we will arrange a return visit soon. Thanks again to the superb staff - you are all absolute stars :-)

We were in an executive room, very spacious and comfortable. Hotel was very busy but staff were very accommodating. Bathroom had an excellent shower and overall the whole experience was lovely. Were going to use the swimming pool but had a bit too much wine the night before so didn't try.

    « A 3 star at best »

Myself and my family stayed here for 2 nights in July 2016 whilst attending a wedding. Considering the amount we had to pay for the 2 nights we were really disappointed with the hotel, it more like a 3 star at best than a 4 star. The hotel is located at the end of a long narrow road, it is driving distance away from shops etc. There is plenty of parking available and free of charge. The mobile phone reception is quite hit and miss. The wifi at the hotel once logged in is ok a bit slow in the evening but this is to be expected, what I found annoying it would not stay logged in, I have 2 devices which required Wifi connection and every time I had to go through the logging on process on both devices even though I checked the remember me box. The staff at the hotel are very polite and helpful. The food was above average I had no complaints here. The function room for the wedding reception was laid out nicely and all the staff working there worked really hard to look after us. Negative points: On check in we went to our room only to find it had not been cleaned after the previous occupants. We found the hotel to be quite grubby and tired looking, it needed a good clean, in our corridor there was a bucket placed to catch the water leaking in. There was building works going on which started around 0830hrs and it sounded like a war zone with banging etc, at one stage I though they were going to crash through our ceiling it was so loud. Although building work has to happen, it would have been nice to be warned by the hotel it was taking place and maybe apologise in advance. On check out they tried to over charge us by £74 and the receptionist was quite adamant that that was the correct bill, it was only after I had to break it down and ask to see the restaurant receipts she realised that there was an error and amended the bill. We would not stay at this hotel again.

    « Great day out »

My husband and I went to this great little find for a spa and lunch. For a bargain price of £20 each we had a lovely day out - swim jacuzzi steam / sauna and a fabulous buffet style two course lunch or set menu. Food was marvellous and far exceeded expectation. Set in serene setting it was a perfect way to relax- I would highly recommend this venue. There was a wedding party there also and I am sure they have chosen well x

    « Excellent retirement lunch »

I organised a retirement lunch for a colleague today and it couldn't have gone better. Lovely private room, excellent menu at a very reasonable price with perfectly cooked and presented food. The staff were all friendly and helpful. From the first contact with the hotel they could not have been more helpful. We stayed for several hours after lunch finished and were still made to feel welcome. Our 3 course lunch cost £13 a head. Amazing value. Thank you so much.

« Room a bit dated, staff and food made up for it »

Had two nights here on business in the area, usually use Holiday Inn Express but fancied a change. Rate including breakfast and evening meal included was pretty good. Had room 2, a single as booked. Small and dated decor/furnishings but clean and bed was comfortable. Bathroom similar, shower very small and tight by the sink but these are minor gripes. Enjoyed all the meals, special menu fajitas were especially good. Had a swim in the pool and the gym looked good. Definitely will check availability when need to be in the area again.

« Great hotel in lovely location »

The room was small but had everything needed including patio door that opened directly onto the hotel grounds which was a lovely touch. The standard of cleanliness was okay: the bathroom could do with a bit more attention during cleaning. The bed was comfortable and I had a good nights sleep. Breakfast was excellent: I was served tea and toast straightaway with the rest available I n a buffet style. The staff were very attentive and helpful. I would definitely return if I was in the area.

    « Venue for a meeting »

Arriving on a Sunday afternoon in Preparation for a meeting the next day. We did not get an upgrade even though we have the highest tier of rewards membership. The evening meal was average. AS the hotel is well off the road there was no issue with road noise so a good nights sleep was had. The breakfast was pretty average, ordered poached eggs and according to the waitress the chef dropped them on the floor so had to wait on fresh ones. No waffles available and no offer to make some.

    « Whagt a great find »

Spent an overnight here to save traveling in the morning to Knockhill Cacing Curcuit. Very comfortable hotel with a good restaurant. Our room was spacious, the only downside to it was an ajoining room door which was poorly soundproofed. However as the occupant of the ajining room was quite after about 10.30 it didn't disturb us through the night. Food in the restaurant was very good as was the service apart from a delay in taking our main course plates away. Adjoining pool/ gym facilities were very good. An added bonus is the the hotel is in large grounds which are great for a stroll We would definately stay again but would ask for a room without adjoining door.

« Lovely hotel, friendly staff, appalling wifi...... »

Lovely hotel well-situated for all of Scotland's tourist trails and great access to airport and the capital. Staff very friendly and food generally of a high standard. Great gym and spa facilities too. However for one of the chain's superior hotels, with a good number of business users, the poor standard of wifi and telecommunications is unacceptable in the modern age. This lets down what would otherwise be a 4-star experience.....

    « Lovely family lunch »

We recently enjoyed a family reunion over lunch on a beautiful sunny day recently. The occasion was made even better by being able to enjoy a lovely 3 course lunch, where the food was of a much higher quality than the extremely good value menu may have suggested. I would have no hesitation in going back. Full marks to the staff for good quality service!

« Five day four nights visiting garden and houses etc. In Fife »

A group of 24 like minded people with a coach organised to our requirements. Provided by Omega Travel visited a number of gardens, houses, the Falkirk Wheel and the Burrel Collection from the 8th to the12th June. We stayed on a half-board basis and the meals were first class. The staff from the Chamber Maids through the Reseption Desk to the Waiters and Waitresses could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable. I would thougherly recommend this hotel. The only slight problem was the room which we were allocated. It was adequate but could have been bigger.

« tranquillity and friendly hospitality »

Tranquil spacious rooms overlooking beautiful gardens . Clean well maintained with extras on the coffee tray I would only expect in the most expensive hotels I have stayed in. The bar is small but friendly and the restaurant serves great quality bistro style food. Breakfast does not disappoint and the pool and gym were great too. We had our wedding there having never visited before and were disappointed by nothing. Our return was to enjoy the facilities on our own this time!

    « A couple of issues »

Stayed here while traveling in Scotland with a tour group. Was generally impressed. However, there were a couple of issues. The breakfast was underwhelming with soggy eggs and inconsistent service. The WiFi was also annoying as it claimed I was logged in for seventy-two hours, but I had to log-in every time. Also, Crossford is pretty small so it would not be my first choice. However, Dunfermline is not too far if you have a car, so that would probably make it easier.

    « Afternoon Tea »

I visited Keavil House with a group of friends for their afternoon tea. I have a hearing problem so I booked via email. The response from the hotel was quick and courteous. As one of the party was pregnant and another has several allergies I was easily able to confirm with the restaurant that they could accommodate us. On the day the service was excellent and we were able to sit in comfort and chat. The food supplied was perfect, even with the dietary restrictions, and was certainly in abundance. If I'm in the area again I would certainly go back.

    « Excellent hotel »

I booked this hotel as my husband had a track day at nearby Knockhill booked for his birthday. We stayed on dinner bed and breakfast deal. Room was clean and bright. Excellent size. Very quiet. I used the swimming pool and gym during the stay which were excellent. Steam room could have done with more steam though. The food was also very good. I found that the staff were very attentive both at reception, restaurant, bar and house keeping and at leisure complex. I requested a late check out which they allowed. Only negative is they advertise that they have a cocktail bar and when I asked to see the cocktail menu I was told they don't do cocktails so I'd suggest they maybe stop using words "cocktail" bar in the hotel info. Overall excellent stay and I would highly recommend this hotel.

    « Two night stay »

Booked this Hotel online for myself and my husband as it was convenient for a family function. We were welcomed on arrival and check in was efficient, the receptionist was chatty and smiling. Our room was quite a walk from reception but was very clean, spacious and again, welcoming. The bathroom was modern and had a seperate large shower cubicle with a powerful shower, there was also full size bath, toiletries supplied were of a high standard. Our room was on the ground floor and had patio doors to the side garden, no patio area, which was a shame but in hot weather I imagine these doors would be an advantage. Coffee and tea making facilities were hidden away in a cupboard but offered a good selection of beverages. We had dinner in the restaurant and the service was exemplary, the very helpful staff were polite, chatty and very genuine especially the restaurant manager. The food was very good too! Breakfast was also very good and staff again were very happy to help and attentive when required. Lots of choice on the breakfast buffet also cooked to order menu available. Checkout was also efficient and carried out with a smile. The only negative for me was that the bed was a little harde than i like but this would not put me off staying again!. To conclude: Great customer service (Tick in the box for your training program and staff selection Best Western!!) Great Hotel which we would happily revist when we are in the area. Thank you for looking after us so well!

« great place to eat »

Since February, my husband and I have been visiting the Keavil about once a week for either dinner or lunch. The food is amazing and the choice of dishes superb. The price is also very reasonable for an establishment of this calibre. The lunch menu on Saturdays and Sundays is boosted by a buffet selection that is both delicious and varied. It is also superb value....£13 for a 3 course lunch! You also have the choice of mixing courses from the main lunch menu and the buffet. The restaurant staff are so attentive and knowledgeable, led by restaurant manager, Etienne. Nothing is too much bother for them and they can always assist you if you have special dietary needs. I would not hesitate in recommending the Keavil as a lovely place to enjoy a quiet meal or indeed as somewhere to go to celebrate a special occasion. (There are private rooms just off the restaurant especially for that purpose.) On Tuesday and Wednesday evening, the restaurant has theme nights. The choices on that menu are available as well as the usual evening meal menu. Examples include,Asian, Mexican, Italian, Burger night. Once again the theme menu is usually priced around £12-£15. Very good value indeed.

« Top Quality Oasis - Perfect for Business or Personal Travel! »

Superb hotel on all fronts - we so loved our stay. Thank you to all the hard working staff in the restaurant, kitchen, reception, management, housekeeping and health club! Delicious food. Superb warm and friendly staff on all levels (seriously, the most delightful housekeeping staff I've had the pleasure of meeting on all my world travels!). Even with a hiccup in the wifi connection one time, one of the managers stepped in quickly to personally assist and get us back online. The health club facilities are excellent - best range of kettle bells I've seen in a hotel gym, bar none! Loved the sauna and steam room, jacuzzi and large pool! (I'll treat myself to a massage, facial & mani/pedi next time, hehee!) The sleeping rooms are quiet, spacious and comfortable. The grounds are lovely and peaceful with great local walking. What a perfect place to stay while visiting my father in a care home in Dunfermline! I'll be back many times! Two thumbs way up. xxoo

I booked the keavil for our wedding on 30th April 2016. Myself and family stayed on the Friday night and we had our evening meal the the restaurant. This was included in our hotel price and the meal was delicious plenty of choice and we all had a 3 course meal. We sat in the bar after words and had a relaxing few drinks. All staff friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was a buffet with a choice for everyone cooked or cereal etc all delicious plenty to choose from this was the same for both mornings. Our wedding day was was just wonderful it ran to click work thanks to our wedding coordinator Craig, the wedding meal was delicious all 120 guests commented on how they enjoyed it including the vegetarian options commented how delicious there meal was. The wedding package is well with the money it took a lot of stress off me in the day knowing Craig was there to help. I would highly recommend the keavil house hotel for a luxury stay or if you are planning a wedding you must check this hotel out. I will be back for stay soon.

« So quiet and restful here...it was delightful! »

I was here with a group touring around the area with VisitScotland. They picked these wonderful little hotels for us to stay in and this was a delight. Set on 12 acres of landscaped gardens it was a treat to walk around and take in the beauty of the mature trees and bulbs brightening up spring. The hotel is spread out on two floors and even without a lift your luggage has help from the staff if you cannot manage. The rooms are large and have all you could want including free wifi, comfy beds and tea and coffee making along with some really nice special treats. Housecoats too as well as safe, iron and board. A view to the gardens and if you are lucky you will see the pheasants. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast and both were lovely and filling. There is also a heated indoor swimming pool, spa and gym. I can see why this is such a popular spot for weddings. I also really appreciated the coffee and tea available right at the front door in the morning....and the newspaper...and the staff here, they are just super nice people!

« Holiday break in Scotland »

Decided to spend our 6 day break in Scotland in a hotel close to Edinburgh and picked this hotel based on the reviews given. We were not disappointed as it was as good as the reviews claimed. Our room was a good size overlooking the garden on the first floor. Surprised though by a lack of lift. The room was very comfortable and clean and the excellent work by the house keeping staff each day kept it that way. Breakfast was very good with a large selection of both hot and cold food and again the staff were very helpful. Only used the bar once to order food on the first night and service was slow but the food was fine. The hotel was situated just outside Dunfermline with quite a long winding road down to it. It is situated in very pleasant surroundings which makes it popular for weddings, etc. One thing to look out for is the pheasant family who patrolled the garden below our window looking for the occasional treats thrown by guests. A great base for exploring the surrounding areas such as Edinburgh, Striling and Dundee. Would definitely stay here again.

« Great WiFi & Restaurant but the bed I stayed in needs replacing »

I enjoyed the country house feel to the hotel and the WiFi was top notch! I had a very nice meal in the restaurant, Haggis followed by Shepherds pie and it was delicious. Overall the room quality was pretty good, the only issue I had was with the bed. I stopped in room 111 with a massive king size but it looked considerably worn on first appearance. Basically the bed was bowed in on either side where people had slept over the years, woke up feeling stiff which doesn't usually happen. Overall a great hotel but the bed needs sorting.

    « Amazing Staff »

We had booked a number of rooms for a 2 night weekend family celebration. The service in all areas was first class. The quality of the food both for breakfast and dinner was good. « Fife base »

Spent 3 enjoyable nights with my young family during spring break. Large family room, with king size bed and two sofa beds for my 6 & 3yr old. Stayed on a B&B basis, with buffet breakfast offering a large & varied choice. Nice swimming pool & gym opposite main hotel building. Great base for exploring the Fife coast, with all staff we met being very friendly & helpful. I would mention that the lounge area could do with some renovations as looking a bit tired in places. Also, outdoor furniture could be replaced as a bit worn. Overall, a nice hotel with pleasant staff and good location.

    « A perfect stay »

It is very seldom that I can say that a stay was perfect but this one was. The room cleanliness and maintenance were exceptional and the bed could not have been more comfortable with feather or polyester pillow options. The décor (modern) pleasant. The staff , without exception were friendly and very professional reflecting the competence of the Manager. The food was excellent at night and there was a buffet breakfast. The Leisure Centre pool could not have been better. The hotel itself is very modern rather than 'Country House' but beautifully situated in parkland. While there were two weddings on Saturday they did not take over the hotel and we were not at all crowded or disturbed.

    « PEACEFUL LOCATION & GOOD AMENITIES »

Great, quiet location and a fantastic pool/fitness centre available to residents. The staff were all very polite, friendly and helpful. My 'standard' room was of a reasonable size and the housekeeping team kept it at a very good standard throughout my stay; the staff are the stars of the show! Excellent breakfast. A large selection for a full Scottish from the hot buffet plus additional choices to order (smoked haddock/salmon etc). Also plenty of cereal & fruit choices with lovely Scottish breakfast rolls available in addition to other bread choices. I found dinner to be not as enjoyable, I always worry when I see a huge selection on the menu, less is more? Essentially there was nothing wrong with the produce, but exceptionally crowded main course plates lead to an unappetizing appearance for me, plus there were too many 'skinny chips' around which reminded me of a fast food outlet! Overall though I really enjoyed my stay and would certainly recommend the hotel to friends.

    « Friday meal »

Visited here after reading others reviews. We will never be back here for a meal in the "lounge"! we were seated at a small pokey table in the bar area and ordered vegetable crisps and mayo- these were broken in small pieces and tasteless, we both ordered the omelette which was exactly that an omelette with the tiniest salad thing, needless to say we were both still hungry, the bill was £40 which included £7 for a large rose wine. I have to add it is £14 for an omelette.

The room was very nice and our reception on arrival was pleasant . There after constantly overheard staff talking about imminent " inspection " At the time of booking we inquired about problems we might encounter because of a garlic allergy .and were advised the kitchen would be made aware . On the large menu, on the first night there was one dish per section that was applicable . One was soup and the other two were fish . On the second night , with the same menu , the soup had been replaced with a garlic based one ! . During our stay , our recently resprayed car was scratched by a white van . Even though we had parked in the front row in the hotels car park the C.C.T.V. camera could provide no identification of this vehicle . We do hope the inspection well ! .

    « Comfort and class »

Can't find anything bad to say here. The bed in my enormous room was a vast uncharted tract of comfort, and the only bed I've ever slept in that matches the wonder of those Hypnos ones they have in Premier Inns. The food was excellent, the room service fast, the breakfast was pretty darned good, even the lounge music in the - well, the lounge - was pleasant to listen to. And I can report that they're using LED light bulbs, which means they're the greenest place I've stayed in yet. I had a chat with several of the staff, and they're all pretty nice folk. I reckon you're getting good value for money here.

« Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. »

Stayed here for 2 nights during the school Easter break. All staff were really pleasant & friendly. Pool & sauna (in a seperate building) were nice. Only used the hotel restaurant for breakfast which had plenty of choice on offer & was really tasty. Stayed in one of the family rooms - the main bed was comfortable. Shower pressure wasn't great. Furniture in the room we stayed in could do with being modernised. Good level of cleanliness. Overall a pleasant stay.

    « Very comfortable »

We stayed just one night at Keavil house , using it as our base for a family wedding on April 2. I booked,2 executive rooms (one with an additional bed for my grandson) and were able to check in and change prior to the ceremony. Staff were incredibly cheerful and helpful and arranged taxis to the wedding venue for ourselves and other family members. Our rooms were spacious and the beds were extremely comfortable which ensured a good night's sleep. We would certainly stay here again.

    « Relaxing Easter Break »

Fantastic 3 night break over Easter with our grandchildren aged 19 and 9 yr old, lovely clean, comfortable hotel, staff were very friendly and helpful. When booking we were told we could have ajoining rooms which was perfect for us, so we will always ask for now. Nice comfortable seating area in rooms, rooms kept very clean and tidy. Breakfast and evening meals were well presented and tasty, we ate in the restaurant all staff were polite and efficent. We all enjoyed the Swimming pool very clean and warm. Hotel well situated reception staff gave us very helpful information about bus routes and best train stations to use, which we used both saving having to drive everywhere. All of us enjoyed our stay and sure we will return as still a lot to see in the area. Thank you to all your experienced staff for our enjoyable stay.

Cracking hotel with all the facilities you would want including spa/pool etc. Rooms were all clean , comfortable and had the usual tea/coffee making facilities. Staff were all very pleasant and accommodating. I have never had a bad experience with this chain before and glad to see this one matched the others I have stayed at.

    « Easter Break »

Cavil House didn't disappoint. Mum, Dad and Eden along with Granny and Grandad had a great 2 night break. The facilities are excellent, with the pool being nice and warm and the cleanliness of all the hotel and facilities was excellent. Our best bit is always the food and again this was excellent, can't fault the value for money for the whole weekend.

« Nothing was too much trouble »

I chose this hotel after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor and I have to say we are not disappointed, due to being a light sleeper we asked if could move room due to a noisy heater in the next room, the staff were amazing and within 5 minutes we were moved with the minimum of fuss. In addition the facilities were very good, the room very clean and the food in the bar excellent.

    « March 2016 »

The staff at the Keavil House are both friendly and kind. I travelled to the hotel with my rugby team and they were very accommodating to our large group. We also had many meals in the hotels restaurant which were all excellent with very attentive staff. The hotel is also kept very clean and the general grounds are well-kept.

« Superb service and amazing staff »

I recently stayed at this hotel with my team, and the experience was amazing! The staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was nothing but extraordinary. The rooms were clean and had all of the essentials. The shower's temperature control was a little bit finicky, but that is the only negative thing I could think of! The hotel grounds were beautifully kept and the pool/fitness centre was a huge bonus! The restaurant's meal service was wonderful, and they always went out of their way to make sure everybody's dietary needs were met. The friendly staff and wonderful atmosphere made for an extremely enjoyable experience and I would return in a heartbeat!

    « Fabulous Hotel »

The Best Western Plus Keavil House was superb. The staff were excellent and accommodating. The food was delicious and it was great to get a taste of the Scottish culture. The landscape surrounding the hotel is exceptional and the rooms were pretty neat. The pool and gym facility were immaculate and heavenly to use. I hope to return next year with my family to show them how great it was! Shoutout to Etienne for being so welcoming and helpful.

« Nice staff pity about the toilets »

Stayed over night for a concert and must say that we were impressed. The staff are lovely and friendly and the actual grounds looks great. Our room was functional however the toilet was poor and although there was a notice to say they were having trouble you would espect that it would do the basic. The liesure place that you are allowed to use is clean and again the staff are lovely. We would definitely go back but maybe to a suite this time.

    « An enjoyable stay »

We spent a very enjoyable 3 night stay at this hotel, our room (no 11) was spacious, comfortable and very clean, there was some noise from the function room below due to a party and a wedding, however these did not affect us too much and we slept well in the very comfortable bed. The shower is a bit temperamental and we could not get the phone to work but all in all a good room. We ate in the restaurant on 2 nights and the food was delicious, breakfasts too have everything you could want and the ingredients were very tasty. The staff were attentive and looked after us very well ( thanks to Shioban). We did not use the spa so cannot comment on the facilities. We visited Dunfermline - small Saturday market - and Edinburgh (for the Rugby) A really good place to stay and we would definitely book into the Keavil House in the future.

    « Highly Recommend »

Stayed for one night as attending friends wedding. Check-in was 2pm with wedding a 2.30pm pleased to say we were able to get into our room sooner. Staff were very helpful. Room was very spacious with tea/coffee facilities; toiletries and towels supplied only downside was the fan in bathroom took forever to switch off and I could hear the one next door also which interrupted my sleep! Room was also very warm even though I turned radiator down and opened window. The canopies and dinner at the wedding were very good, however the buffet at night was a bit of a let down with the sandwiches being hard including the fillings. However I would definitely consider staying here again

    « Highly recommended »

We were a party of 8 family members celebrating a 60th wedding anniversary, this was our first visit to Keavil House Hotel and were made to feel very welcome by all the staff. The exceptional care and attention to detail made our two night stay a time to remember and nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant staff were attentive to our every need, the quality of the cuisine was of a high standard. Rooms were very spacious, cleaned each day and offered a wide range of services e.g. tea, coffee, wifi, Bluetooth, radio, telephone and Sky TV. The leisure facilities were also of a high standard which were included in our negotiated price. We would definitely return to this hotel again.

« They know how to host weddings »

Decided to stay overnight after friend's wedding which was at the hotel. Booked an executive room which was lovely. Spacious, huge comfy bed, great facilities. Very speedy free wifi which is always top of the list. The only thing was that the room was very warm and no air con. Switched heating off and opened a window but with curtains drawn it didn't help. Breakfast was lovely with quite a choice. The staff were all working hard and very pleasant. The wedding was lovely and the surroundings were lovely.

    « Lovely staff & great stay »

Excellent staff from start to end, pool reception staff were lovely and found out our rooms were ready early while we had our treatments with Anne which were great and I would high recommend...check in staff were brilliant and we had a lovely lunch in the bar, food and service 5 stars. Rooms are big and beds are comfy...breakfast was fantastic. We would definately stay again my only negative is the pool has swimming lessons and was more like a public pool area than a relaxing spa area - otherwise would have got 5 stars :)

    « Excellent choice »

This hotel is set in very large grounds. Check in was quick staff very polite and efficient. We were allocated room 39 very large room was bright and clean we were impressed. We went to the swimming pool, staff were very cheerful and helpful. Changing rooms were clean. Showers were nice and hot. Pool very nice. Evening meal was very good. Restaurant staff were very helpful, efficient and polite.Breakfast was superb.

    « Friendly, efficient staff. »

Stayed here for one night but as we were going to a family night out in that area we didn't eat in the restaurant that evening but the buffet breakfast was very good. Fried eggs to order so not left lying on the hot plate. All members of staff were smartly dressed and very friendly. Our room on the ground floor was clean and tidy and bed appeared to be comfortable until trying to sleep on rock hard pillows. Most hotels have one soft and one firm pillow for each person but all four pillows were too hard and too late to ask for them to be changed. Extractor fan in bathroom very noisy. Pool and steam room good and changing room clean. A lovely hotel but minor touches could improve it to a higher standard.

    3
    « Dirty »

We stayed for one night in a family/executive room, no.14. The room was a good size, bed comfy. Pillows hard as concrete! The bathroom floor was dirty, dusty behind the door and I spotted the odd hair dotted around! Clearly had not been cleaned in a while. The toilet was dirty behind the lid when I closed it. For a 4*hotel I would expect water in the room, I was told it wasn't included in an executive room! In summary I think the manager needs to oversee cleaning as a priority and also expect the odd request for water! The reception staff on the whole were very pleasant. Breakfast was a buffet of hot and cold items which was very nice. I should've remarked on the bathroom on checkout, and I usually do but our lift was waiting for us!

« Nice hotel terrible service »

The hotel and facilities are lovely. We spend a night at Valentines weekend this year. The dinner was included and unfortunately the service let everything down. We were brought other diners meals on several occasions, had to ask where our food was a couple of times and also were apologised to because they didn't expect it to be so busy? I was very confused about this because it was Valentines weekend and obviously a poor excuse. I do have to say though when we did eventually get our food it was delicious. Staff over friendly and overall not the romantic dinner we were expecting. Breakfast buffet poor.

« Good Hotel, Great Staff! »

Enjoyed a lovely overnight Valentine's weekend stay. Comfortable, spacious room. Excellent food, great pool and spa facilities and friendly, efficient staff. Huge breakfast buffet - hot and cold choices with made to order options also. Highly recommended!

« Loved the spa and breakfast!! »

We only stayed one night but made full use of the amazing pool, steam and sauna rooms. The relaxing break was just what we were after and we weren't disappointed. Friendly staff and nice little touches set this hotel apart from others we have visited. Room was spacious and comfortable. We were particularly impressed with the breakfast options, with made to order selections aswell as the vast buffet. The service we were given was excellent (especially from the young waitress who had a constant smile on her face and natural willingness to help). We will definitely be back and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

    « Simply Wonderful »

I stayed at the Keavil on Friday 19 February 2016.I had previously stayed in July 1996 for a wedding. I was thrilled to return and find that standards are of paramount concern to the general manager and his staff. On arrival, I was immediately offered an upgrade to an Executive Room which was in itself a generous offer . The room was spacious, well stocked and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and varied. There wasn't one member of staff that I encountered who wasn't friendly or helpful. I am considering my return visit. Thank you to the team at Keavil for making my stay so pleasurable

    « Very pleasant stay »

Had a lovely relaxing evening , in spite of it being a business trip . Room and facilities were excellent with a view over the hotel gardens. The leisure complex was an added bonus . Would definitely stay here again . Nice walk in the hotel grounds too, more time there would have been a bonus !

    « "Lovely wedding venue" »

Had a fantastic day at friend's daughters wedding. Elgin Suite was a lovely setting with good sized dance floor. Meal was really nice, food tasty and piping hot. Excellent service from Nikki and her team -special mention to Mags for her pleasant demeanour and attentiveness. Would definately recommend to anyone looking for a wedding venue.

    « Great dinner »

A valentines dinner which we both really enjoyed. A great setting in a lovely looking hotel. We were met at the door and shown to the dining room. The service was very friendly and efficient, and the food was delicious and good value. Afterwards there is a comfortable lounge to sit and relax in. A really enjoyable night.

    « Ideal business hotel »

Stayed overnight with work and it was as good as usual. Rooms are clean and spacious and the restaurant has a good choice of excellent food. Breakfasts are really enjoyable and if you feel the need to exercise there is a gym and pool in a separate building beside the hotel. If you're looking for a good venue for a conference, workshops or meetings then I would thoroughly recommend this hotel. The staff are helpful and friendly.

    « Good overnight stay »

We stayed overnight after a wedding reception. The room was comfortable and more than adequate for my husband and me. The staff at breakfast couldn't have been more attentive and pleasant. Even the receptionist was extremely friendly. We will definitely recommend Keavil a House. Well done to the management, they certainly have their act together with their staff training.

    « Highly recommend »

We would recommend this hotel to anyone , we attended a wedding, which went swimmingly thanks to the staff and the food was of an excellent standard. The gym and pool are fantastic too. We had a family room which was a good size, the beds were very comfortable and everything worked. Shower could have had hotter water but the staff said it was due to everyone using it on that day.

« Overnight stay Christmas present. »

Had a lovely time at this hotel. Rooms very comfortable spotless clean, food excellent, staff lovely. Woul definitely return to the Keavil House Hotel. Had a lovely dinner in the restaurant and a free complimentary glass of wine because we had pre booked.

« Extremely helpful managers didn't make a meal of my tardiness »

I arrived at the restaurant with only minutes to go before it closed. The manager couldn't have been more helpful and without any fuss or chastising simply took my order and kept staff around until I had finished my meal. Top marks!..................

« Lovely night away, lovely staff »

Had a lovely overnight break away here. Were given a free upgrade to a superior room after mentioning a minor gripe with the room to reception. The receptionist and duty manager were both lovely, very friendly and professional. Room was lovely, great size looking on to garden. Had a bite to eat in bar lounge in evening which was nice and reasonably priced. Breakfast was included for us and was buffet style with an excellent choice, and again lovely staff. Leisure suite was also visited, great size pool and spa for the size of the hotel.

« Keavil House the Best and friendliest Hotel. »

Attended a Wedding in January. Never stayed in a Best Western before but will definately try them again if all their Hotels have staff as friendly, and helpful. Apart from the wedding meal which was excellent we ate there the previous night and I cannot fault the Service or Food. Breakfasts were also tremendous. Only drawback was a dearth of good beers or at least to my taste.

    5
« Excellent accomodation and service »

We stayed for one night and had a very enjoyable experience, the service was excellent, hotel was comfortable and relaxing, and the food and service in the restaurant was the best ever for us, breakfast too was excellent with a buffet style selection of both hot and cold dishes, plenty of parking and loads of outdoor space for walking and getting some fresh air

    « Excellent accommodation »

I stayed here about 14 months ago and only gave 3 out of 5. This time was a much better experience. I stayed in an executive room. It was fantastic, very clean & tidy with lovely little luxuries like filter coffee pots, bottled water, oat biscuits as well as shortbread biscuits. The bathroom had little extras too, including luxury toiletries. As well as bathrobes and slippers. The bath itself was very big and lovely to soak in. I had my evening meal in the bar which again was great. All of the staff were polite & professional. One very minor suggestion rather than complaint. There was apples and sweet mince pies on the reception desk but no sign to say how much or if they were free. A definite return quicker than 14 months next time.

    « Great stay & wedding day »

We booked one of the Whirlwind Wedding Packages to get married in Jan 16. From the very start we were made very welcome and relaxed. Craig, our wedding coordinator, was fantastic. He was very helpful with all my queries, which i had a lot of. All through the lead up to the wedding he kept us on track and he even managed to get us and our families organised on the actual day of the wedding (a small miracle since we kept flitting between different rooms) . All of the staff were fantastic and friendly and helpful, we cannot praise them enough. Our wedding breakfast was delicious, and the evening buffet was equally as tasty. Everyone of our guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves and commented on how well the day/evening went. Our room set up for the wedding breakfast was exactly as i had planned, they did a great job of setting it all up. I also had quite a few of my family come up the night before the wedding and Craig organised a private dining room for us all for our evening meal. We also made good use of the spa facilities. We would highly recommend the Keavil House Hotel as a wedding venue, or even just for a break or meal.

« One day only experience »

I, with other members of my family attended my youngest son and his bride's wedding at the Keavil House hotel on the 23rd January 2016, On arrival we were made welcome by the lovely reception staff and from then until we left after lunch on the 24th Jan. the attention and courtesy we were shown was exceptional. The wedding dinner and service was superb and speaking as a previous hotel owner I could not fault it. The room I had (deluxe) was spacious and modern, and very importantly the bed was very comfortable. The management staff took a personal attitude to all the guests and when my daughter mistakenly asked the general manager if he was serving coffee in the breakfast room, without hesitation he simply poured the coffee and brought it through to the reception area, when I told her he was the GM she apologised and he dismissed it it totally as being of no importance. That is something to be recorded in this day and age by lesser staff members. I went to watch some of my family swimming and spending some time in the spacious and well equipped health centre with an adequately sized swimming pool, we did not have a chance to see the grounds or any other services which the hotel may provide.

« Great value, lovely food. »

Stayed here with friends for a spa break on one of the deals. Hotel lovely and spacious and most importantly clean. Room spacious and has everything needed. Staff very professional and friendly, nothing too much trouble. Food was fantastic in the restaurant, would definitely recommend. Spa and leisure facilities great, has everything you need. We also had a few treatments and it was just lovely. Would recommend here, especially if you take up one of the offer, fantastic value. It's a bit out of the way and we didn't leave the hotel, but if you are just looking for quiet away time with fab food and great service, then look no further.

    « Another great Hogmanay »

This was our seventh consecutive Hogmanay stay at Keavil House and once again, the quality of the Hogmanay celebrations, the hotel facilities and the staff were excellent. This time we stayed in a room in the old part of the building which had a lounge area and the bedroom as well as a well appointed bathroom with a shower instead of a bath. The toiletries provided are lovely and the towels during our stay were lovely soft fluffy white ones. The bed is extremely comfortable with nice linen. Food at Keavil House is always first class with plenty of variety, some of which is locally sourced. As always though, the greatest asset of Keavil House is the staff , many of whom have been there for years. They all go the extra mile to ensure that guests are made to feel comfortable and welcome. Would we go back again ? Oh yes, already booked for a stay later in the year and our room is already reserved for Hogmanay again.

    5
    « Another Great Event »

We have held an Awards Dinner at Keavil House Hotel for 3 years running now and they do a fantastic job. Everyone from the hotel involved in the set up could not have been more helpful, from the General Manager right through to the Maintenance Manager. On the evening Nicola took good care of us and ensured service was slick, helping us to finish the formalities of the evening ahead of schedule, which gave attendees more time for partying afterwards. Thank you to a very professional, friendly and helpful team - hopefully we'll work together again in 2017!

    « Friendly and appealing »

The staff are what makes the hotel. They are extremely friendly and try their best to sort out any issues when they happen. There have been a few issues and some people would be put off by this but they do there best under the circumstances. On the whole the hotel is very good and is an enjoyable stay

    « Winter break »

We have just returned from a weekend in Keavil House Hotel - just what the doctor ordered after a hectic festive period. Room was clean and comfortable and staff were very friendly and helpful. We ate in the hotel restaurant and the meals were delicious. We also made full use of the gym and spa facilities, which were excellent. Hotel only 2 miles out of Dunfermline, and spent a nice day at the shops. We will look forward to a return visit. John, Glasgow.

    « Winter weekend break »

Comfortable hotel. Well placed for exploring Dunfermline and local area. Excellent restaurant. All staff friendly and helpful. On arrival room was cool and heating not due to go on until 5pm. Reception provided portable heater and room heated quickly. After dinner on the Saturday lounge area cool. As the weekend weather was cold and wet it was surprising that not all areas were well heated.

    « Hogmanay Hoolie »

Well done Keavil House Hotel your Hogmany Hoolie was indeed a very well organised and executed three day event , on arrival Wednesday 30th December we were welcomed in with a lovely high tea ( scones were amazing) , and friendly staff my room was no 10 which was a large room and very comfortable unfortunately I think next to some staff rooms which made it rather noisy in the early hours . The food over the three days was exceptional if anything the portion control needs reigned in but I'm sure not everyone thought so , breakfast menu had everything on for all tastes and it was always fresh , new year day brunch was a bit of a shambles staff wise not sure if they were relief staff or had came on shift straight from a party but there was no coordination and requests for tea and toast were taken and promptly forgotten !! Also no lunch service or even sandwiches on offer we were told "we are closed"!! , brunch was available until 1pm but with the average age being 50+ most had eaten by 10.30 and ready for a snack at 2pm so we had to go out for something to eat . The events themselves were great nights everyone enjoying the food/dancing very good atmosphere , on Hogmany the event was in the larger of the two function rooms which was only accessible by leaving hotel and walking down an unlit path with lots of pot holes , bad enough when wearing high heels but some of the guests where elderly and one had a walking frame .this same lady was looking for a seat in the lounge area but was told the empty seats were reserved and to go ask the bar man to get her one by a member of staff ( did I mention the lady had a walking frame !!!) this was probably the point for me when I thought maybe some customer service training was needed . All in all though well done I hope the few points I've made are taken as constructive criticism , having worked in the industry I know these are very easy fixes .

    « New Year 2015 »

My friends and I had a fantastic New Year, from the mo net we arrived the staff couldn't do enough for us. We had ungraded to an Executive King double and we weren't disappointed, very spacious with lovely pinchable toiletries, there words not mine! The Hogmany Hoolie was fab, food, band, all fantastic. The race race night on the 1st was a bit more chilled but such fun. Breakfast delicious. Need I say more, we will be back!

« Another great New Years Package »

This is our second visit at Keavil House for the New Year package. As with our previous visit we had a great time. There were 5 of us in our party and we received a warm welcome from reception staff. Craig was in reception greeting guests who were arriving and the General Manager Alistair also joined him to welcome us back. Our rooms were large and well appointed, afternoon tea was laid on for the first and second day,the food at breakfast and evening meals was plentiful and freshly prepared. The Gala Dinner and dance on Hogmany was really nice with a great band the dance floor can get crowded at times however this should be viewed as lots of guests joining in and enjoying themselves. To summarise we thought the accommodation package was good value for money and we will be delighted to return. Our thanks go to hotel staff staff all of whom were extremely friendly and helpful Well done

    « Hogmanay Hoolie 2015 »

A fantastic night (again) at the Best Western Keavil House Hotel Hogmanay Hoolie. This is the 3rd yr we've been there as a family (10) and another brilliant night. Food was excellent, staff were first class and fun with it, ceilidh band were great explaining all the dances and taking part when required (as did the staff to make up numbers), disco after the bells was fantastic, Bill played all requests and great party music catering to all age groups in the Elgin Suite. Needless to say we have booked already for 2016 and will be visiting Keavil House in between times for lunch and dinner, maybe even the cheeky wee weekend :-) Highly recommend this Hotel to anyone as either a base for sight seeing or just a relaxing weekend making use of the spa facilities, or as a fantastic wedding venue. Many thanks to all the staff & managers who made our night out so special to us as a family. Can't wait until 2016 Hogmanay Hoolie

« Amazing hotel and many amazing memories »

In 2013 I proposed to my girlfriend at Midnight at Keavil House Hogmanay Hoolie she said "YES". So on the strength of an amazing night with excellent service from the entire staff team we decided to book our wedding at Keavil House for the 31st December 2014. Our guests all checked in for the Hogmany package breaks taking full advantage of all the hotel facilities. Our ceremony was held in the wedge-wood room a perfect venue for an intimate wedding. We were then treat to canape's and champagne in the club room again the excellent and attentive staff team ensured our wedding was perfect in every way. Big thanks to Nicola the wedding planner. On the evening we all attended the Hoolie in the Elgin suite a perfect night was had by all of our wedding party. This year we return to celebrate our 1st Year Anniversary see you all at Hogmany Hoolie 2015. Thank-you Keavil House

    « Party Night Friday 18/12/2015 »

Keavil house hotel. Went to Christmas Day lunch for two 3 years ago, good meal, well presented traditional style turkey with all the trimmings on a 14 inch plate. So I had no reason to refuse an invite to a party night with about 30 others on the 18/12/2015 . Tables well presented seating 8 to a table. Choice of menu, turkey, sea bass, or some sort of ricotta for mains, with Christmas pudding with a white sauce or a chocolate sort of mousse for dessert. No starters apart from a roll and butter. The meals were served approx 15 mins after order. What I was presented with was a 10 inch plate ( or thereabouts) with a piece of fish with what looked like pesto sauce beside it together with 3 boiled potatoes and a generous spoonful of carrots! ( ie. No roasties, green veg, etc). It reminded me of meals that I see in a large company's subsidised canteen or a hospital restaurant.( which I use quite frequently when visiting). The fish was edible as were the other trimmings however the quantity was way below what I expected from this hotel. My opinion was mass commercial catering and it looked like it using the minimum one could get away with with hopefully no complaints! A fair amount of scraping off was carried out by the waiters when collecting plates from all tables. I opted for the Christmas pudding. This was of the type that was cut from a slab. Reasonable but a bit dry. I had forgotten about the 'white sauce' till it was pointed out to me by the person sitting next to me. This was a drizzle on the plate before the dessert was placed over it. The lady next to me asked the waiter if there was any cream available as her dessert was a bit dry? He went to check and came back apologising that there was none! Another male diner asked another waiter the same question. He came back with a jug of cream and put it on the table. All of used needed it! Teas and coffee served!! One waiter came round and he poured the coffee, no problems. Another waitress came and gave one diner on request a decaff tea. The rest of us waited for normal tea. We never did see that waitress again ever. After about 5-10 mins we asked another waiter about tea. He returned with tea apologising profusely. I said" it's not your fault"! Oh, I forgot to mention the Christmas crackers! These must have been sourced from Poundland as they were the cheapest of the cheap. A paper hat, too small to fit a head but one could balance it on top, a piece of paper with a sad joke and a tiny plastic totally useless frog! It would have been better not to have put these crackers on the table in the first place as they lowered the tone of the meal still further. After that experience, music by a DJ followed where dancing could take place . One table of diners left early presumably to go and get something else to eat! My comments are similar to others attending so it is not just me. No point in complaining to the waiting staff, it wasn't their fault. This is a corporate policy management Issue and needs to be looked at. Meanwhile, where the waitress went to remains a mystery! I expected more from this hotel. I attended a similar event at another hotel within Dunfermline same time last year. It was considered by all to be very good with good food and catering together with entertainment . Sadly, this is not an event I would want to repeat ever. Possibly this hotel will claim that they are rushed off their feet over the festive season: so how can another hotel provide a good service?.

« Superb food and service »

Our meal at Keavil was lovely and the staff were very polite and attentive to all of our needs. I had the burger which was a generous size and was absolutely delicious. I am looking forward to returning soon!

« Excellent value, excellent staff »

We've stayed here a few times and we are never disappointed, our last stay was no exception. We attended a "Glitter Ball", held in the Elgin Suite, on the 11th December and stayed for one night. The tables and room settings were really special, clearly someone talented and experienced had done the room and the tables. The 3 course meal was delicious and served by a small army of waiters so that none of the three hundred people were kept waiting. The DJ played music that suited everybody, it was great. Our room was enormous, we could have had the Ball in there. Breakfast was a buffet style with trays being topped up regularly so nothing had that, "Been there all day" look. Great place to stay.

    « Lovely weekend »

First time at the Keavil House Hotel in Dunfermline. Had a thoroughly relaxing weekend, all the staff were lovely and the breakfasts were most enjoyable. Would definitely recommend this hotel for a weekend away. We both thought this was one of the quietest hotels we have stayed at.

    « Christmas Party Night/Overnight Stay »

First the Party Night. It was fine as these things go. Don't know how may Christmas one's they have done, but, "Could do Better". Food fine, but they would have sold a lot more drink if they had bar staff who knew what they were serving and how to serve it. On these types of night out having a "Party atmosphere " helps, and I'm sorry these guys were barely into long trousers, it needed a more experienced team. The Hotel itself is lovely. Nice easy check in, accesable rooms on ground floor, wet floor and disabled bath. There is an upper level which most of our group was in, rooms very spacious, beds have the split base so they can either be made up as doubles or 2 singles. They were very comfy, plenty of drawer and hanging space. Very nice bathroom . We had 6 rooms booked and they were all the same, and actually very nicely surprised how big they were. Next morning had a very good buffet breakfast, and with added items that were made to order at no extra charge. All in all a very nice stay, would highly recommend it, but would be aware of booking at the christmas holiday season as Party Nights are noisy and bousturous..

    « Very nice »

Nice and very peaceful location, away from the main road. Rooms very warm and comfy beds. Tried swimming pool in the past and was very good. Car park big enough. Food also good with full Scottish breakfast each morning :-)

    « Electric car charger »

We chose this hotel for its location and because it has an electric car charger. The charger was just outside the front of the hotel and was easy to use. We were able to use it when we wanted to. We had a relaxing stay with a nice evening meal and breakfast. Unfortunately didn't have to time to try the spa facilities.

« Scottish Women of the Word Conference weekend »

A lovely quiet hotel yet only 10 min from Dunfermline and 30 min from Edinburgh Airport, on the bus route from Glasgow to Fife. Ideal location to tour many historic and scenic locations. I have visited this hotel for an annual conference every November for the last 7 yrs. We have just spent another excellent weekend at this lovely hotel, nothing too much trouble for the staff. Food lovely and rooms of a very high quality. Thanks to all the staff for their excellent service.

Had lunch at Keavil house Hotel twice since they changed their menu and did not enjoy. The buffet lunch that Keavil did up until recently was fantastic, however now there is no buffet. I will go to the pool to swim but go elsewhere for lunch from now on. Uninspired!

    « Great Staff. »

My wife and I stayed here for one night, we will be back. The hotel staff stand out as it's best feature, everyone was friendly, courteous and efficient. The room was a very good size as was the bathroom. The room had all the facilities you would expect, the coffee especially was of a much better standard than normally found. Robes and slippers were supplied, a nice touch The food in the restaurant was very nice, the dinner menu had something for everyone. Breakfast consisted of an extensive choice of options, many served buffet style, other items could also be ordered freshly prepared. Everything eaten was lovely. Rachel and her staff worked hard to provide a pleasant dining experience. On the next visit we plan to visit the spa time was against us on this visit. I would recommend a visit to Keavil House.

    « Stayed for a wedding »

As the title states stayed here for a wedding at the beginning of November. My husband and I stayed for 2 nights. Room was clean and everything that the hotel did for the wedding itself appeared fantastic. Staff were polite and courteous. I booked into the hairdressers to get my hair done - Sharon was excellent and I would recommend her to anyone who stays in the hotel. I was disappointed at the lack of lorne sausage for breakfast. As someone who lives away from Scotland I was really excited at the prospect of a proper Scottish breakfast. I was really disappointed when there was none - to the point I queried with someone on duty - I got a shrug of the shoulders and informed you don't provide that. A shame.

    « OVERNIGHT STAY »

Stayed here for one night on the special dine deal and because it was a Friday got chocs and wine also, can I say that this was excellent value for money, don't hesitate to book this deal. The food in the Restaurant was excellent and the menu extensive even for a fussy eater. The staff in the Restaurant for our evening meal were excellent, the girl in charge for the evening went out of her way to make us welcome, and nothing was too much bother, overall the staff everywhere within the hotel were excellent, would definately stay again.

« My granddaughters wedding venue »

I stayed at this hotel from 22 October till 24th for my granddaughters wedding which was held in the hotel. What a brilliant stay we had, from the staff at the desk, through to the waiting staff in the restaurant and from the wedding planner to the cleaners, they couldn't have done enough for us, such a comfortable room and great food, would definitely recommend this hotel for a wedding or indeed for a holiday stay, we had a great stay and wedding, thank you xx

My husband and I have just returned from an overnight stay at this hotel and found the room very clean and comfortable and all staff were very pleasant. We did not eat in the restaurant at night but did have breakfast in morning, which was buffet type, and found there was a very good selection. We also used the pool in the leisure facility and again found this good and the staff very helpful. I would return to this hotel and would also recommend it to friends. I

I stayed at this Hotel last week and it was a great experience. I arrived at the hotel about 8.45 and had a lovely welcome from the receptionist. The bar and restaurant staff were friendly and the food was nice too. The bedroom was a comfortable size and bed was comfy. I cannot say much more than this as I was up and out early the following day I can say this is a great place to stay and I will return when next in the Dunfermline area or maybe for a short break when we visit Scotland.

« Sons surprise 18th Birthday family meal »

Can not fault this hotel. Our sons surprise 18th Birthday family meal was quite a feat to organise as we are all spread out over Scotland but the entire staff at the Keavil House were in in the surprise for our Son. Special mention must go to ' Rachael' ( sorry if I've spelled your name wrong !) for your hard work and help. My son was caught completely by surprise and a good night was had by all our guests. The whole Hotel and grounds are to be recommended. Thank you.

« Restaurant lets down a comfortable hotel »

I've stayed here about a dozen times over the last ten years and never had any reason to complain. We stayed October 17 and 18 and felt the service levels and quality of food in the bar and restaurant were very poor. There seemed to be enough staff but they all seemed to disappear when any service was needed! Service was slow and the food was not up to usual standard - my wife had asked for a medium-rare steak which was served almost burnt. Only four people were eating there so perhaps others have noticed the quality decline.

    « Meal & Wedding »

I visited this hotel this weekend - we stayed in a different hotel but all other family was in here, so the night before the wedding we met and had a meal in the restaurant. I had the chicken pâté for starter and fish for the dessert and it was absolutely outstanding. I loved it!! The next day at the wedding it was just as good - very professional and helpful staff who made my cousins wedding day very special. Very pleased with my experience with this hotel!

« Comfy room let down by the restaurant »

Nice and comfortable room , however , very let down by the quality of the restaurant. Food was bland and had too much salt and service was very slow. Breakfast in the morning was okay however service was once again quite slow . Room was very comfortable, Nice and clean . Location is good I feel like a walk in the park there is a great park nearby.

    « Great Short Break »

Lovely hotel in nice surroundings, with extremely pleasant and helpful staff. Food was excellent and the restaurant well appointed. Leisure facility was great and the swimming pool beautifully clean. The only slight let-down was the rubbish internet access in the room, but this did not detract from the overall experience of a great weekend

« Disappointing to start but improved. »

Came here for a family wedding. First impressions were not great but it grew on me. We arrived Friday tea time after a very long drive. Room was fine. We had an executive family. Nothing fancy but served its purpose and was roomy. We decided to just eat in the bar as hungry and tired so thought it'd be more relaxed but nothing on the menu appealed so ordered a plate of chicken goujons to share to tide us over. They came out deep fried in batter which was not nice at all. Later we went to the restaurant and my Husband had leek and potato soup and I have muscles. Well the soup tasted and was the consistency of herb infused water! I will say the muscles were lovely. We then both had flat iron steaks which were completely tasteless. Mine with garlic butter again tasteless. I couldn't believe it. We went to bed disappointed to find our pillows were like sleeping on rocks. Did not have a great sleep and awoke with a sore neck. Right so that's the bad out the way. Now for the good. I will say the most outstanding thing about this place is the staff. The Customer Service is incredible. Everyone was polite and friendly and efficient. Breakfast was lovely. After breakfast I asked if they did other pillows and was told it would be taken care off and low and behold two amazingly soft fluffy pillows arrived at our door. Our wedding was a small affair of only twenty yet we had about six or more staff attend us. The food was tasty and filling and well presented. One member of staff was always about not sure if he was duty manager or restaurant manager but he was brilliant. We were looked after so well. We were told there were three weddings on that day yet never saw anything or were bothered by anyone. We had a pheasant came to our window in the morning to eat our shortbread which was nice. So although this started as a bad review id definitely come here again to try because the staff made it worth it and the food was better second night. Maybe the Friday someone was just having a bad night.

« Having stayed here a few times,we had a family birthday stay »

I was one of 12 family members staying for my brothers 65th birthday,we had all stayed before and we're looking forward to it ,however things were not as good as previous stays. We had 5 rooms booked, and out of the five bedrooms,2 of the toilets didn't flush,we were given another room, and guess what similar problems with flushing..the tissue would not flush away, gross! Wallpaper was off walls round the Windows. No valance round the bed base, decor in need of some tlc.Dinner was lovely, breakfast was another experience,we ordered our fried eggs, nearly finished our breakfast before they came, there was two fried eggs on this plate, but they had been fried together and I had to cut through the middle so we could have one each.

« Outstanding and disappointing all at the same time. »

This hotel was recommended to us by regular visitors. You can't go wrong with a recommendation can you?? We were on a 2 day DBB deal and with the Spa across the road we were looking forward to a relaxing weekend. We had afternoon tea in the conservatory as there was a function on in the bar area. The afternoon tea was more than acceptable, however the decor and fabrics were lacking the finer touches of TLC and a duster. A lot of broken blinds and cobwebs. Never mind, we bought a drink and went back to our room. there was a knock at the door and here was the hotel manager with a tradesman wanting to measure up the furniture for glass tops. Would we mind?? Well what can you say. There was another knock at the door 5 mins later with complimentary drinks and snacks for our inconvenience... fair enough all's good and nice touch. When we arrived for dinner we were asked what room we were in, which we told them. We were met by a vague confused look and asked if we were both dining? Strange question as we were both there....no matter. We sat down and proceeded to read the menu. We were paid a visit by the restaurant manageress at our table who said that there was a problem with our booking. She said that we had only booked for 1 night for 1 person in 2 rooms....this was supposed to be 1 room for 1 couple for 2 nights. After some serious embarrassment and affront on our behalf we had to leave the table in order to go to our room to get our tablet so we could display our email correspondence and confirmation to show that we had booked correctly and paid up front...which we were able to prove that we had. It was the hotel who had messed up our booking. We were assured that the DBB deal would be honored without any issue for both nights..and given a voucher for a drink for the following evenings meal. Now very much on edge and uncomfortable we ordered our food. The Shin of beef was out of this world. Absolutely amazing. My wife had it the following night and was again blown away by it. Breakfasts were exceptionally good as well. We were all packed up on the Sunday morning having a coffee in our room before going to check out only to have the housemaid knock and come straight in without waiting for a response. This could have been extremely embarrassing. When checkout came we had been charged for the drinks we got the coupon for....really. In summary. Fabulous food, dusty decoration in need of some TLC, Botched booking.

« Very friendly hotel, good food, comfortable rooms. »

I stayed here with a group of ladies for a weekend away. Food was great, rooms very clean and comfortable, staff very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Beautiful, well kept grounds with a golf course and children's play park included. I didn't visit the spa or pool, but some of the ladies enjoyed these facilities, some used the beauty therapy rooms too. Only two small points. My friend with whom I shared a room has MS. She does not need a wheelchair, but uses a tri-wheeler to walk, and her walking is very slow. We had a lovely comfortable room with what looked to be a brand new wet room. It was very spacious with all the hand rails needed, a shower behind a full length glass screen. However the wash basin was a miniscule, cloakroom sized one which made even teeth cleaning difficult as the mixer tap jutted out over it. But worse was the distance from the main reception----down two long corridors, which took my friend a long time to negotiate. From the size of the bathroom door opening, it's obvious the room has been adapted for wheelchair users, but not all disabled people use wheelchairs, and it surely would have made sense for this room to have been much nearer the reception area and main door. The corridors included two doors which needed to be pulled towards you, which would be difficult for a wheelchair user on their own. As I say, the room itself is well appointed for a disabled user, the only thing that lets it down is the distance from the main door and reception.

Jut home from a fabulous weekend at Keavil House Hotel. Beautiful hotel, fantastic food & lovely gardens too. But what really make it extra special was the staff. « Outstanding staff »

I've just spent a weekend at this hotel as part of a group of around 40 people. From the moment we arrived on Friday evening, until we left this afternoon, the staff could not have been more helpful towards us. This was more than just good service, this was genuinely friendly. Every member of staff acknowledged our presence in corridors, or just passing. It was lovely to be taken care of so well. The restaurant was lovely and the food was superb - again served really well.

« Mostly very good, could be excellent »

I stayed Sept/Oct for 5 nights as a place to come away to work, to have a bit of time to myself, and to enjoy the location. A problem on arrival with my room was dealt with immediately and I found it a really lovely, tranquil place. (If you can avoid weekend weddings). The staff were very helpful and friendly - particular thanks the to guy in the leisure centre who recommended a route for running locally. I got round there a few times and it was great. There was an issue with the food a few times - I ordered the same item on room service twice and each time it arrived very differently. And the restaurant could be better. When an issue was raised with them, I was impressed that staff listened to these issues and said they would address them. I do hope they will (And I might well come back and see if they have!). Overall I think this place has lots of really good things going for it, they just need to sort out a few of the issues that are pointed out here by other reviewers, and bring consistency.
