"Great hotel to visit the Christmas markets"
Very pleased by our first experience in this BW. We spent one night to visit the Christmas markets. The hotel is ideally situated, our room was very cosy, modern and very clean. The lobby staff was also very welcoming! Although the street could be noisy sometime during the night that is only for the rooms on the front side… The bar at the ground floor is comfortable and pleasant.
"AACHEN Trip"
I absolutely loved the entire experience I had at this hotel. I had stayed in superior room which was comfortable and clean and the most I liked are the hotel staff and location. I will definitely stay again when in Aachen.
"Very small room but friendly "
We decided last minute that we wanted to stay in Aachen as our planned Belgium trip had to be cancelled as we would have been subject to quarantine in the UK. So we spontaneously decided on this centrally located Best Western. It was more expensive than some Aachen hotels but the location is great - just around the corner from everything including the Dom. In the end we chose this hotel because it had parking. When we arrived we were told that there was no parking as it was booked out and we should have reserved. A bit annoying as we didn't recall seeing the need for reservations on the hotels.com website. Fortunately, there is public parking just around the corner from the hotel. The hotel's own parking on the other hand looked awfully tight so we were glad how it turned out. Our room was very small even by our London standards. Bathroom was tiny also. Being tall I kept knocking into the furniture. It was too hot for our liking and the air con was temperamental and didn't manage to achieve cooler temperatures. Decor was bland and uninspiring but looked new and well maintained. The bed was comfortable though the rest of the room was really too small to be enjoyable. On arrival, housekeeping hadn't filled up the teas and coffees in our room but reception provided these when asked. Reception was really the best bit about the hotel - the lady with the short blonde hair was super nice and engaging and a major asset to the hotel. The reception and location makes this an ok hotel, otherwise it is not very good value or particularly comfortable.
"Not bad, actually good"
Very well located, well and modern rooms; kind service. Nothing exceptional but totally in line with expectations. Beds a bit soft for me. A bit expensive though.. however due to the season (Xmas) I believe prices had to adapt ..
"Christmas Markets "
Booked this hotel for a Christmas Market weekend break. A brilliant find, so close to the market and shopping area. The staff at the hotel couldn't do enough for you, making us feel welcome. The rooms were lovely. A good choice of food for breakfast. We will definitely revisit
"A week in Aachen"
The hotel is in a good location, near enough the city centre to walk to the sights or the shops, whilst far enough away to be out of the tourist loop. There are several takeaways and restaurants within a 5 minute radius (lots of decent looking German pubs within a stones throw of the hotel), as well as a chemists and supermarket right across the street. The room was decently sized, on the 1st floor which offered a panoramic view of the bus station right opposite LOL. Pleasant staff speaking English/Dutch/French and of course the native language. I did find the breakfast a bit unimaginative though, the same selection every day albeit perfectly adequate, cereals, yoghurt, cheese, ham, cold cuts etc. Cat lovers will be interested to know the Aachen cat cafe is right around the corner, behind the church. No more than 50 yards away! Unfortunately when I visited the city there was no Christmas market going on and therefore in November it's a bit dull, but of course this is no fault of the hotel. Aquis shopping plaza is about a 15 minute walk from here. A word of caution; Peterstrasse and its neighbouring street Julicherstrasse are not the nicest parts of Aachen, watch out for the drunks and hobos who gather round the bus station and the supermarket opposite. I was there a week and never felt threatened however but it is something to take into account.
We will be back if we have a chance to visit Aachen, again.
"City trip with central hotel"
Well positioned hotel so that all tourist attractions can be reached on foot. Very smart, sizeable, modern rooms. The rooms to the front of the hotel overllok the main road which, if you have the room window open are extrelmy noisy from outside traffic.
"It's all you need"
My room was quite small but had what I needed. The bed was comfortable and the comforter was excellent. The breakfast had a decent variety of items, both European and American. The staff was excellent and helped us out on every inquiry. It's a short walk to the old city. This is a good moderately priced option. Great shower height!
"Old fashioned... but a good sleep"
Old fashioned... but I had a good sleep. Comfortable room, but outdated, nice breakfast, friendly staff. The neighborhood is 'so so'; not really nice to walk in this area. Wifi was a bit slow, but workable.
"Good choice"
We stayed one night. Our rooms was smaller but very well designed, very clean and very comfortable. The bathroom was quite large. Nice linens and comfortable bed. Parking is in a secure garage within walking distance from the hotel. One can park temporarily near the hotel lobby to unpack. Within walking distance to the old town area and shops and restaurants. Wifi was a bit spotty at times. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
"Great hotel"
We stayed at the Best Western Regency while visiting the Equestrian games in Aachen. The staff at this hotel were just brilliant supporting us with logistics and getting around. Nice room, really good smorgasbord breakfast and an easy 5 minutevwalk to the old, fashionable parts of town.
"quite near the city center, but need for an update"
Oh dear, decoration and furniture are definitely outdated. The reception and restaurant are ok but need a refresh. The tiny TV screen is on top of a remarkable and not so attractive cupboard. Rooms are a bit noisy, you hear the neighbours quite well. The bathroom seems a copy paste of a very cheap hostel. But the bed was comfortable, and after a long exhausting run through the hills around the great city I managed to sleep quite well. I did like the breakfast as well.
"Horrible rooms"
Had to book in Aachen last minute for business. Best Western brand is usually reliable. Plus said four stars. This is NOT a 4 star hotel. The rooms are small, dated and in poor condition. The interior design of the rooms is reminiscent of a 1970s sex hotel in Japan. Good service, decent breakfast, but badly overpriced when rooms are taken into account.
"Friendly staff and family atmosphere"
The room was rather small sized which was not recognized from the foto. The better was a spacious bathroom /wc. Everything clean. The reception very kund and helpful. Parking on a separate address.the location favorite: A nice walking distance to dom and city centre and the carolus therme as well. The bus station opposite is not very nice bur it does not disturb.
"Great stay"
We stayed at this hotel for a week and I could not fault the service and the staff. They could not do enough for us. The hotel is centrally located to everything we needed in Aachen and close to the bus station which we used each day to get us to our event. It was a 2 minute walk to the supermarket and 5 minutes walk to the old town for nice restaurants. Our room was very good and clean and beds were comfortable with a large bathroom. This hotel is a typical city hotel and suited our purpose as we were only at the hotel to sleep. There is no restaurant at the hotel but there are plenty within walking distance close by. The breakfast was excellent with lots of choice. We found the staff so helpful and friendly and definately would stay at this hotel again.
"Dirty old hotel"
This hotel claims four stars. Maybe if Aachen would be situated in Ghana that would be realistic. Room smell dirty and bathroom is worn down and really really dirty. Don't go here. There are better hotels in Aachen at this price. Overpriced and out of date.
"Nice hotel - parking in the garage below the hotel is a challenge"
The Best Western Hotel Regence in Aachen is located very centrally - the hotel shows its age in many places but in my opinion not really negatively. The room decor is just lovely. What I liked - Very friendly check-in. Communication in general is above standard. - Quiet rooms - Good and quick WiFi - Great breakfast - Option to include Minibar in room price - Clean - Cozy beds What I did not like - There is a garage with 5 parking places beneath the hotel. Before you enter be aware that this garage is very narrow with a very steep angel access. Only drive in there if you are a very experienced driver in a small car. We warned! - No real restaurant on premises Be also aware to check first which of the Best Western hotels you have booked because they are not far from each other on the same street.
"Excellent stay"
Service was excellent: We asked for a double room with extra bed for our son, and received at the normal cost of an extra bed: a double room (with sauna in het bathroom, yes, room 506), with a connecting door to a single room with kitchenette and a sitting corner ! And at the back of the hotel, as requested, to have a quiet stay, away from the noise of the street and busstation. We had reserved a parking space in the parking garage of the hotel, this was in a street at the back of the hotel, just 5 minutes away: excellent ! And only for 9 EUR extra. Breakfast was very good, also the service there: the breakfast-lady brought us coffee even before we even asked, and she offered our son hot chocolate. When our coffee was finished, she brought new coffee, again, even before we asked ! Breakfast was also very good, with lots of choice. Location is super: directly near shops, Christmas market, etc.... We had an excellent stay and would definitely return. We even recommend the hotel to family and friends.
"Great location for visiting Christmas Market"
This hotel is next to the bus station and 500 metres from the main shopping area of Aachen. Fantastic breakfast buffet and the staff could not of been nicer. The rooms are compact but plenty big enough for a 2 night stay. If you are looking for super deluxe then pay for the Mecure Hotel next door but if you just want a base for being out and about in Aachen on a budget then this is the place to stay! Hotel is 600 metres from very pretty Christmas Market dotted all around the cathedral - busy but eary to move around and see the stalls.
"Great Location"
Stayed here for 3 nights to visit the Christmas Market, which is less than ten minutes walk from the hotel. Rooms are clean, with comfortable beds. Staff are really helpful, willing to offer suggestions of where to eat/drink and to assist however needed. Would definitely stay again if visiting Aachen.
"Strange practices - Beware - Embarrassment ahead"
My wife and I arrived and checked into the Regence together with a few colleagues, ahead of a delegation that we were looking after. Although my wife's details were not registered the staff were clearly aware that we were checking jointly into a double room. The next morning I checked out and received my bill which listed the incidentals. I left the hotel with the delegation whereas my wife stayed someone longer and consumed the breakfast which was meant to be included in the rate (only 1 was consumed under my room number). When she left the hotel later in the morning she was stopped and asked to pay 20 Euro for the double occupancy. Strangely enough this was not requested when I checked out and also not when I left the hotel. Furthermore the difference between a single and double room is Euro 10. And best of all, the staff was not willing to issue any receipt whatsoever. My wife was hugely embarrassed as she could only assume that this was some sort of "working girl" tax that the front office staff "levy" to bolster their coffee kitty. I certainly would not recommend this hotel due to this incident and will make the Best Western chain aware of the practices in this hotel.
"Grat details"
I am staying at hotels all the year and this one has surprised me. It is an old hotel but really well maintained and clean. Rooms have all kind of details that you rarely find in other hotels. Plugs beside the bed to charge the smartphones, all switches on hand, movable lamps, halogen spotlights with adjustable intensity, red light in the bathroom to warm you up quickly, heater to hang towels, trouser press, carpet, kettle, tea bags, minibar... My room has a small kitchenette with stove and sink, but other rooms have a microwave instead. It is well located and rooms are quiet.
"Fine business hotel"
Nice, smaller hotel near the center of Aachen. The room was average for a business hotel, just the details (dirty wall opposite to the air con, ...) pointed out that some refurbishing might be needed. The breakfast was also fine - not too many choices, but nothing important was missing. Coffee was good. The location is also good, the Dome is just 10 minutes walking. To wrap up - decent sleep in a decent hotel, not exceptional in any way, not bad in any way.
"clean, reasonable, central"
This hotel is located within an easy walk of the central shopping area of Aachen and the market area. The room we had was a good size for two, with a fridge, TV, and writing desk. The shower had good pressure and the towels were large and soft. We didn't have breakfast there as it seemed a little expensive, but there are many places nearby to grab something. We had to park our car on the next block over, but it was in an underground location that was very safe and included in the hotel price. It was a little inconvenient, though, to have to walk the 5 minutes in the rain to retrieve it. Overall, this is a good hotel with little charm. If you're just passing through or want a place with more convenience than character, this is a good choice. I'd stay there again.
"best location"
The hotel is located in the central of the city, just few walk to the bus station and many store and restaurant. It just perfect for bussines and pleasure. We choose because some review is seem very good so we try to check in and the staff is very fruendly and helpful to introduce Aachen and many restaurant as well. The room is cute in 3rd floor its quiet and clean. The wife is free but you need ask the staff for password and user , it a fast connection as well. The breakfast is great and so fresh. We would came back for sure
"Very good location"
Location is excellent. Rooms with face at the main road are somewhat noisy. Rooms are clean and of good quality. Personell is friendly and helpful. I stayed only one night but I think that for business travellers this hotel is ok for value for monet
"Very good business hotel"
Well-equipped, clean rooms. Not too spacious, yet with a comfortable desk (a pro for business travelers). Very friendly and professional staff and an excellent breakfast. Conveniently located near the city center, and with a locked car park just around the corner.
"Perfect Location"
Needed somewhere central in Aachen and this fitted perfectly to our needs. Excellent Hotel and extremely helpful staff. Wonderful choice at breakfast and all fresh. However the biggest surprise was the 1st class business room that was allocated. Everything you could need to work and also space to relax in. Great comfortable bed and the room was spotless. Finally Aircon that works as it should was perfect.
"Pleasant Stay"
Firstly The Staff ..... Incredibly Helpful & Very Friendly. They Make this hotel !!! Rooms very clean. Breakfast was fantastic, the Fresh Smoked Salmon was the best I've had in a hotel stay, Procecco on ice ( I didn't have ) but the food was of excellent quality. Having a re vamp in the winter/ spring. Offers an underground car park. Would use again . Thanku.
"Excellent Hotel near the Center City"
The Hotel was great and had its own underground parking garage, 2 blocks away (which you pay for daily). It is best to leave your car there and take taxis to the Aachen Dom and Carolus Thermen, as taxis are fairly cheap (8 Euros each way). Do not try to drive in this city. To get there, you need GPS. This trip to Germany was the first time I used GPS, and it saved us a lot of time and misery. It took us right to the door of the Hotel. The Hotel has no restaurant for the evening meal, so we ate two doors down at The One and Only restaurant (which was pricey but great). They do serve breakfast there at a cost of 16 euros per person. It is a good breakfast, just pricey. There is a sauna room in the basement, which costs 8 euros to use. You get slippers and a robe and towel. I used the robe and towel and slippers for the Carolus Thermen the next day (That saved me 6 euros). The staff is friendly and is very helpful. It loses a star for not having their own restaurant to serve evening meals.
"Very good hotel."
We booked this hotel on the spur of the moment in Aachen since we arrived there without accomodations. Our room was spacious, clean and quiet. We even had a little sofa. The location is good, within walking distance of the old town. Our breakfast buffet was excellent. A good choice for a short stay.
"Great location"
In my experience, it was decent, no frills place. I did not opt for the breakfast and did not have any meals at the restaurant so cannot comment on that. The room was compact, had a view of the Peterstrasse. I found the shower cubicle on the smaller side. But everything (wifi, tv, hot water, etc) in the room worked. Location of the hotel is good, it is very close to the city centre and the bus terminus as well. For tourists intending to visit the main sights such as the Dom and Rathaus, that should be no problem at all on foot. There are numerous bistros and restaurants along the way. The lady at the reception was very polite, helpful and spoke good English.
"Time away in Aachen City"
Great hotel , part of the Best Western chain .... Hotel Receptionists could not do enough for you Clean rooms , tidy floors , everything spic and span .... Did not have breakfast , we were eating out of the hotel most of the time ,.... Reasonable price for a 3 for 2 offer .. I was most impressed and will be returning again ,,,,
