The hotel is centrally located, so my business collegues could walk to our meetings, but making the reservation was difficult, the manager or group reservation manager never called me, and then the guy at the front desk would only take 10 rooms, no discounts, I had to come in multiple times and now I am trying to get the sales tax back bc I work for a nonprofit. too diffifuclt to deal with anyone there
This was our second stay at this hotel and both times were wonderful. The hotel is spotlessly clean and has every amenity one could possibly want. The bed was so comfortable. The bathroom was spotlessly clean and the bathrobes were super comfortable. Excellent, delicious breakfast and the restaurant was spotlessly clean.
Clean, well appointed Broken elevators with no known fix date. Everyone has to carry luggage and walk to 2nd or 3rd floor by steps. They have no one to help. Lots of older folks really screwed. A really Major issue Noisy from hallway activity, and upper floor Room phone to get front desk do not work. Westfield deserves far better Two hangers No cups in bathroom A/c thermostat worked sporadically
The environment was noisy and there was NO housekeeping despite repeated requests at the front desk.
Well located hotel in the center of Westfield. No room service but breakfast is OK. No espresso available. The hotel is using disposable plastic cutleware and carton/cardboard plates, all is wrapped in plastic... How is it still possible in 2024 ?
Make Staff followed a female quest through the hotel among for their number and making inappropriate comments. Then took guests phone and synced contacts to text and harass.
The room is too small for that amount of money. $200 per night. The breakfast is regular- eggs and bacon. The hallway smells terrible. The staff act like they never seem African American before. In the 4 night and 5 days I have been there; no room service ever came to my room. Expect the train to wake you up. And the loud vent that chips in and out… that is really loud.
One of the best hotels I have stayed in for a short visit. Close to the YMCA to workout. The hotel is in walking distance to many fine restaurants and shops. The staff are very professional and respectful. The breakfast was exceptional. The beds are comfy cozy. You can let fresh air in your room from the window. I will stay again, if I need too.
My wife and I stayed at the Westfield Inn a week or so ago and had mixed feelings about it - wish the issues didn't exceed the benefits. Pros: We had stayed at this hotel 14 years ago and were pleased to find it had undergone a significant upgrade since then. The lobby has been reconfigured a bit, but of more importance the hallways and rooms were much improved in appearance. I don't notice room lighting too often but did in this case - many different choices to make the room look inviting and easy to read a book in bed (though there was one mystery switch we never did figure out). The hotel is right in the downtown of Westfield, which contains a number of good restaurant choices. Our favorite is Ferraro's, less than a 5-minute walk. The bed was very comfortable and the street was relatively quiet - a good thing as there seemed to be no way to turn the fan to 'constant', something I always do to drown out street and hallway noise. The included breakfast was adequate and the room was kept clean. I should mention the front desk staff on the morning we left gave us a cheerful goodbye - not close to the attitude we received upon arrival (below). Cons: *SIGH* - That's what 'greeted' us as we opened the door to the lobby. The receptionist wasn't welcoming, nor even neutral, instead giving off heavy I-don't-want-to be-here vibes. The receptionist bypassed any welcoming message and instead immediately handed over two long sheets of paper filled with small print and told us to sign them both. When I asked what I was being asked to sign - trying to avoid the 15-minute read it would take - she sighed again and said words along the lines of "It says you won't steal things or break things or other problems". Amazed that this would be required in the small cute town of Westfield I somewhat jokingly asked if they had a lot of problems here - "Allllll the time" was her answer (with another sigh). Very comforting. The receptionist then asked me to hand over my ID (not just to take a look at it, like every other place) - she said she needed to make a copy of it. Really? The updated room seems to have focused more on appearances (nice) rather than quality (not so nice). The floor was some kind of laminate - not carpeting - that didn't seem attached to the floor underneath. Almost every step was a new squeak - not horrible if you're the one making the noise - but I apologize to whomever was in the room below us. The bathroom sink had no obvious way to employ the stopper - there was no pull near the faucet nor was it one of the push-in to stop/release as you sometimes see. Hint to others - you need to open the doors underneath the sink and manually pull down on the stopper lever, which was not hooked up. The Westfield Inn is a Best Western owned property but on arrival you will not see the Best Western sign in front of the property, as is shown in the hotel graphics - nice job of Photoshop, I guess. Instead look for small 'Westfield Inn' lettering over the door (as you drive by slowly, wondering if this is indeed the hotel). Not sure if the Westfield Inn owner or Best Western is to blame for the legal contracts you need to sign upon arrival. There is free on-site parking but it is tight if you choose the spots directly under the hotel. We parked in the open lot directly behind the hotel, but I don't recall seeing a sign that said those spots were for Westfield Inn customers - perhaps I missed it (I didn't get a ticket).
We visited the Westfield Inn for the first time this weekend and were so surprised at the facility quality and amenities. Beautiful rooms (we stayed King Suite), comfortable and so convenient to shops, trains, friends & family in Westfield. A hidden gem!
This is the only place available to stay in the center of Westfield. It is clean, upgraded, and the staff members were courteous. Everything in the center of town is walkable. Parking is available, although tight. Noise from footfall above our room was irritating early in the morning. We would ask for a third-floor room in the future. A malfunctioning coffee machine was replaced. The staff didn't know how to divide our bill in half to be put on two credit cards, but presumably they could learn how to do that.
Had a great stay here. A great location in Downtown Westfield with si many restaurants and stores in walking distance. Very clean room. Beds were super comfortable! Complimentary breakfast was typical but good.
Nice enough place with comfortable, clean room and excellent free breakfast and great location. However, as noted by other reviewers, the scent they use throughout the facility was horrible! Overly strong and off-putting. I had quite a time trying to get resolution to a billing issue (I extended my stay for one night and was told by the front desk that my group rate would be honored for the extra night. When I got my bill upon checkout I was charged $50 over that rate. Front desk clerk talked to the manager who said he would refund $30 of that, which pissed me off but it was better than nothing). Over a month later the refund had still not posted, despite 2 emails that were never returned and twice trying to call but the phone just rang (no voicemail option). I finally tried once more - they transferred me to the Manager whose voicemail box was full. I called again and asked to be called back. Much to my surprise I received a call from the NEW general manager within the hour and he refunded the difference in full to match the group rate and sent me the adjusted folio. Perhaps new management will help as I have had several friends who also stayed there in the past and had a terrible time with follow-up and refunds/bill adjustments. I deleted my original review and reposted with an extra star as I am pleased with the resolution in the end.
Nice staff, modern looking but the hotel smelled awful. Artificial scent in the rooms and the hallway. The scent was disgusting. Even with the windows open we couldn't get rid of the smell. Bed linens were clean but the bed was very soft and the sheets weren't comfortable.
Well kept secret in upscale suburbia. Looking for an easy escape from city via mass transit to a great downtown? This is it with clean quiet updated rooms. Here for a family wedding, would return any day.
This cute little Inn was the perfect place to stay in Westfield while visiting my daughter. The rooms were beautiful, spacious, comfortable and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. This Inn goes with the charm of Westfield. This will always be my go to place to stay.
Returned for another stay while visiting family nearby. The hotel is in a great location to walk the town which is full of restaurants and bars, shops and more. The railroad track does run directly behind it, but the trains are Not constant nor Overly intrusive. Our room request for Away from the track was not met this visit But, we actually slept just fine. The king room was So subpar. The edge of the bed left about 6” to the edge of the dresser, which Oddly held the Keurig that sat on a pull out shelf. The Keurig was dirty inside so didn't use it. The entire room layout was odd. Had a couch n table. An entire area with a small fridge attached to an Unfinished area, tiles in the bathroom were cracked and grout in the shower could use a Thorough scrub. The doors on the shower would not stay closed which made for a drafty shower, lol. The lighting in the bathroom needs a Major Upgrade, way too dark by the sink. So, overall the room was clean but Seriously lacking. However, the Positives of the location, being a Rewards Member that Impacted Price, the Amazing Hot /cold breakfast Included that Actually had Healthy Choices with a helpful, kind Staff on hand to help with anything needed ( tho a NON dairy milk option would be a Great addition) , the free parking and No resort fee Outweighed this particular lacking room. Prior Rooms were better. The Best part, the ease of staying where one feels Safe, in a clean hotel in the Middle of a Wonderful Town. We ll return and would recommend
Excellent location with beautiful remodeled rooms. Rooms are clean and beds are comfy. Staff is friendly and professional Breakfast is great with waffles, pancakes, yogurt and espresso and cappuccino machines. Breakfast room was spotless and kept well stocked.
This motel is very nice and quiet. The location is perfect. Downtown shops and restaurants are across the street. The town is quiet, you can walk the area at night without concern. Staff is friendly. Rooms are comfortable.
This is a great hotel, wonderful location, friendly staff, very nice amenities. The breakfast is very good. I can't say enough good things about this hotel. I will always stay here when I travel to our business headquarters nearby.
We left some clothing in the closet of our room (completely our fault) but after numerous phone calls and different stories -- the day we checked out & the day after-- we were told they had the items. Since we were driving back through NJ a few days later, I figured we could just stop by and pick them up. Unfortunately, when we did so no one on duty -- front desk or housekeeping -- knew what we were talking about and they couldn't find our stuff (and frankly they didn't seem like they wanted to help). We eventually gave up and left to continue our drive home. Called back the next day and again went through the same questions of whether or not they had the our items. Eventually they seemed to remember who we were but it wasn't clear they knew where our items had gone to -- but they promised to call us back within 24 hours. That was 2 days ago. For upscale Westfield, you'd think this place would be better managed and not give us the run around. Definitely won't be staying here again and will avoid Best Western at all costs in the future.
I have stayed here a number of times ,the standard of the rooms is consistently high which offers spacious and comfortable accommodation. There is a complimentary breakfast which I understand is adequate but I don't personally take advantage of that hat option. My only complaint would be that do not reply to emails as promptly as they used to do , that aside this property is a good option when visiting Westfield.
Breakfast was good with fresh fruit and yogurt and hot food. Nice little coffee machine. Perfect location central to a lot of places and close to a rail station. Beds/pillows are nice and comfy. Hotel Staff very friendly. Used the YMCA across the street.
Bridial couple booked a block of rooms for their guests, location is perfect, so close to everything, we could walk to most restaurants & shops. Rooms were large & clean, breakfast has lots of options & food was well prepared, check in was quick & they are well stocked with a large variety of food & personal items, staff was helpful when needed.
Newly and throughtfully updated older hotel a few short blocks and wonderful walk in charming Westfield. Many restaurants and fun, upscale shopping right there. In addition to the great location, the room was very comfortable and the hot breakfast was more than adequate with nice options. Appreciated that the windows could be opened for fresh air and the excellent lighting in the room.. A few quirks because of the older bones of the hotel did not deter the overall enjoyment of our extended stay. Most of the staff very friendly.
I was very satisfied with the whole experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful, including the house keepers. You should put mini bars in the rooms, also contract with Chez Catherine to deliver to the hotel. Also, the elevator needs to be replaced with a Larger one, to accommodate handicaped guests.
I was super excited to stay here and get to know the area until………I understand you have renovated your rooms however if you are going to renovate keep up with it. Cross check the rooms, have house keeping cover their hair, change the cooking oil, check if each room is still working, if the doors still lock, if the walls are clean, if each room still has hot water, if the towels smell and look clean, if the rooms smell fresh, not making the guest feel has if their a bother. These are just a few of the issues that I had. Thank you for your time.
The Best Western Westfield is the only hotel property in town. Close and convenient to downtown. Recent renovations make guest rooms pleasant. However, hotel staff needs to learn better Customer Service to show guests their appreciation. Would be nice if property invested in new towels...those in my room were GRAY and THREADBARE! Would be nice is housekeeping staff replenished soap and shampoo in bathroom dispensers. Just sayin...for the only show in town...they should be more attentive to guests needs and comfort.
We booked a "suite" with a kitchenette and fridge. Checked in and were sent to a room without a fridge. The helpful desk attendant moved us to a different room with a small fridge. On checking out we discovered it had stopped working so had to throw away about $40 worth of food. Coffee maker in room also did not work. Hotel was undergoing renovation when we stayed there two years ago but it feels like they never finished. Kitchenette is minimally useful -- there are a couple of plates and mugs, and 2 cooking pans but no cooking utensils, dish towel, etc. A small table and two chairs would be nice for anyone wanting to eat in. Things we liked - we could open the windows for fresh air, we were steps from the train station for easy access to NY, and there's walkable access to Westfield's many restaurants. Westfield is an attractive small town. The Best Western is a decent enough choice despite its shortcomings, but I wish there were alternative lodging available.
We checked in. The refrigerator wasn't working. Usually that's not a big deal except we had expensive medicine that HAD to be refrigerated. They offered the refrigerator in the breakfast room until they could check into the frig problem. Went out for a dinner, returned and the frig was still not working. Checked with the now new clerk who didn't know anything abt our request. "Slept" there 1 night of 2. We requested a room change after our 1st night due to extremely thin walls and the broken refrigerator--we could hear everything above us. We learned the hotel was fully booked, but guests were not checked in yet on the top floor. In fact, we learned the ppl above our room were departing. We said, "great, can we swap with that room or any one of those yet unchecked-in rooms?" Clerk named Alyssa said "we can't do that"--why?--"we just can't do that. We may be able to provide a comp to you. I'll check with the manager." Several hours passed, checked again with the new clerk on duty who didn't know anything about our manager's request or the refrigerator: "I'll check with the manager." Slept in the same room on night 2, heard a lot of the same noise above us, still no working refrigerator nor any attempt to have it repaired. Checked out on Sunday, "any word from the manager?" Clerk: "No, they have your phone number and will reach out to you." Us: "Can we have his business card and phone number?" Clerk: "No, I can't give you that information." That was 3 days ago. Still haven't heard from anyone. Clearly, this hotel does not want to TRY to make things right.
Wonderful location in a quaint town! Able to walk to many bars restaurants and shops. Hotel was SUPER CLEAN and offered a very nice breakfast buffet. Amazing staff! Will definitely be back to the Westfield inn!
Hotel location is ideal for being downtown Westfield. Cannot believe the location for access to restaurants and the town in general. Very convenient to the railroad service. The mattress in the hotel room was excellent I actually uncovered the linen to see what brand it was for my home.
When we arrived at the hotel, the small entryway and lobby didn't inspire much confidence. But we were in town for only one night, so we just hoped our room was clean and the beds comfy. When we got off the elevator we were completely awed by the beautifully decorated corridor - it was very luxurious! Our room was also gorgeous. The bathroom was sparking white, the beds and pillows extremely comfortable, and, best of all, the a/c worked perfectly! The temperature was in the 90's so that was greatly appreciated! A lovely breakfast was served, with juice, coffee, waffles, eggs, bacon, cereal, and a variety of bread and pastries. We can wholeheartedly recommend this hotel!
Place is clean, great location, great bed, pillows, water pressure, towels etc. Elevator didn't work, and didn't get any help from front desk staff on check in. We had 4 roller bags, and could have used some moderate assistance. Nothing too strenuous. Basically was a good stay… just the first contact was disappointing. Would stay here again.
I have stayed in this property on a number of occasions and have never been disappointed even during the height of the pandemic when things were very difficult for all service providers .There have been some staff changes but this has not affected the service provided . Rooms are large and have how had remodelled kitchenettes fitted . Generally facilities in the room are very good although the internet on this visit was occasionally a bit hit and miss . The complimentary breakfast has now been reinstated but I didn't take advantage of it , but I did hear from other Frequeht guests that it used to be better , possibly there is still a way to go after two years of restrictions. In short a good value high level three star hotel .
Nice area, with lots of shops and restaurants in walking distance. Friendly employees and great food from breakfast with a nice little coffee/mocha machine. Felt very safe and friendly are, with a trader joe nearby.
I have stayed at this location twice since March. I chose to stay there because of the location. The first time we were given a room with incomplete renovations. I couldn't sleep, and didn't want to disturb my husband. There was a sofa there, and I could have sat up to read, but there was a large empty space where there should have been an end table and a lamp. We could not get a cup of coffee in the morning due to the machine malfunctioning, Ok, not the best, not the worst. The second time (checked out yesterday) was a horror show. I got on the elevator to go to the breakfast room. I waited and waited, elevator did nothing. I walked down the one flight to the breakfast room. Ok, not that big a deal. However, when I went to leave with my suitcase the elevator STILL did not work. I waited and waited again. I had to be at an appointment. So, with a bad knee I had to carry my bag down 3 flights of stairs. I was very upset, and made it clear at the reception. The young woman at the desk saw fit to help somebody who got there before me. As we were speaking the elevator arrived on the first floor. Her response was "See, it's working, you just needed to be patient:" She took my bag and as she was walking away I heard her say very audibly "Jesus Christ!" When I returned for my bag, I had calmed down and wanted to be civil with this young woman. I asked for my bag. She did not ask my name and she brought out the wrong one. She asked me if I was someone by another name. I said no, she then proceeded to ask if it was a Vera Bradley bag. I said no, described my bag, and gave her my name. I went to the edge of the room and pointed out my bag, saying "it's right there". She then became very sarcastic, saying well "that was why I was asking, otherwise how would I know?". I was planning to thank her, but before I could she said "you're welcome" very sarcastically" and literally slammed the door to the room (she was inside) on me. Never again. Maybe this young woman should learn empathy, and customer service skill training is in order. Never again. The office where I had my appointment told me that they've received nothing but complaints about this over-priced hotel.
Handicapped room was on the second floor and had to be accessed using an elevator. The elevator broke earlier that week and the hotel staff did not call us so we could make arrangements at another hotel. Room had been reserved for months. The desk clerk became agitated when I asked why the hotel had not called to inform us that the only access to the handicapped room would be via stairs. I asked to speak to his manager and he said he was not there. He ordered me to leave the hotel and then called the police. We left the hotel after speaking to the police. I left a message for the hotel manager who never returned my call.
Perfect location for exploring cute downtown Westfield, NJ. Reception area is VERY small & unattended so you have to ring bell for service. Parking lot area is also very tight. If you stay more than 1 night, housekeeping doesn't come every day.
Great stay with the family! Charming hotel it seemed to be recently renovated. What I loved the most is the location. With in walking distance to all of the attractions. The staff were great, professional and helpful! Will definitely be back!
I have stayed at many hotels in my life. I have to say The Best Western Westfield Inn is the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at. The staff at this hotel did a fantastic job. Especially Peter the Front Desk Manger. He knew everything about the property and made us feel at home. He should get a promotion or at least a raise. Over all a great experience at this property. I hope to return soon.
Stayed in November for five days and it was the worst experience I've ever had in a hotel, and I am a frequent traveler. There was never anyone at the front desk upon entering or exiting the hotel and when faced with a problem the two girls working the front dest gave totally different information, none of which was correct. You had to go and find these girls in a back office if you needed them as they were NEVER at the front desk. They were rude and dismissive on top of unaccessible. The hotel was full of people who stayed in the halls partying and running them all hours of the night. When we complained we were told that there was NOTHING that they could do about the situation so I suggested that they move us to the floor above and the loud obnoxious group to a lower floor and they said that they would have to ask the offenders if they were willing to do that which the offenders did not want to do so the staff at this hotel let them stay on the third floor tormenting all of the guests on the second floor for their duration of their stay! The morning I went to complain-there was a line of three others there to complain about the same thing-quiet, compliant, paying customers also there complaining who were told, "we can't (won't) do anything about this situation." So I asked for the manager-which their manage -in five days was NEVER at the hotel and every time we asked for him the front desk girls would say, "oh he just left OR we just talked to him," really a hotel without any management on staff for days on end? I finally asked for corporate's number and called them right in front of the front desk staff to which corporate said, "they absolutely can do something about these people-they can ask them to leave the establishment!" So I put corporate on MY personal cell phone with the front desk girl and corporate couldn't get anywhere with her either so corporate told me if it happened again that night to just call the police to come to the hotel! A sleepless vacation after a 20 hour drive to NJ=miserable. NIGHTMARE~do yourself a favor and DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!!
Booked two rooms for 4 nights Thanksgiving week 2021. A family with children allowed the children to run the hallways, stairwells and operate the elevator unsupervised all night. When this was reported to front desk, staff said nothing could be done! Up all night because of the noise. Checked out the next day. My credit card was charged for the two rooms for 4 nights. Disputed the charge with credit card company. Filed complaint with Best Western Corp but they do nothing but give you the run around. I finally gave up calling them days before Christmas with nothing resolved. We asked to speak with the manager but he was never available. Corp obviously doesn't care either. I would not recommend this hotel even though its in a great location, in a wonderful town. The experience ruined our holiday.
The manager is rude ignorant & a scam artist. The rooms despite being newly renovated are awful. They are small unappealing & look like they took used furniture/drapes from other hotels. I had a mirror break when the door fell down trying to open it. The manager tried to blame me for it & make me pay. The employee I reported it to was scared she would get fired cause her mgr. Miso is a tyrant. I got a flat in their parking lot from a nail due to their construction & they refused to pay for the repair or even offer me anything. The manager & his night time clerk purposely screwed up my reservation so I couldn't use points to pay for the stay. Then jacked up the amount of points that could be used so I had to pay cash. Even the person I spoke to at the corporate office said tripling the amount of points You can use from one night to the next is unprecedented. Don't stay at that property there are much better choices in the area.
Really small hotel in the centre of town - completely accessible to travel, it is walkable from the Westfield NJ Transit station (2 mins). Buses and trains there to Newark Airport and to NYC. Westfield is a small town with lots of small shops and restaurants. Also completely walkable.
Needed extra space while visiting in-laws in Westfield. The location of this hotel is second to none, walking distance to all downtown shops and restaurants. Though it's an older/old-fashioned hotel, looks like it has had a relatively recent update and looks good. Heater didn't work particularly great in our room but was adequate enough and bathroom sink didn't drain too well (hence the 4-star instead of 5). One thing you do get with older hotels is better sound insulation - we had a family with very young (and loud) children next to us whom we could not hear at all when in the room. The price for the room and location was very reasonable given this was a holiday week and when we needed an extra night's stay the front desk was easy to work with setting that up. Would definitely stay again.
If you are visiting Westfield this is a good place to stay. It was great to be able to walk to everything in town. The train station is right there, it will get you to NYC. The hotel staff was helpful, the beds were comfortable, the pillows were soft. My only complaint is that it needed a good cleaning.
Nice location of hotel in Westfield, and nicely appointed rooms. Customer service was terrible. When we reported non working elevator twice, we were told “it works fine. Stupid guests push the button too hard, so the elevator does not come up.” We could not believe a staff member would dare to be that rude to a disabled legally blind guest who had to manage walking down 3 flights of stairs due to the non working elevator. We were treated rudely also when reporting that our key cards did not work the second day. The gal at the desk had not deactivated them when we added our second day. She acted like it was our fault that she did not deactivate our keys when we returned to the desk telling her they keys did not work.
Staff acted as if you were bothering them. My room was located across the hall from an old ice machine which gurgle and dropped ice all night. I could not sleep and was abruptly awaken everytime a guest retrieved ice. I attempted to contact the manager Mike 5 times, but he never returned my calls. Staff confirmed that he received my messages.
I stayed for one week in this property ,and as on all our previous stays I was not disappointed The owners are constantly improving the property and consequently it presents better than I would expect for a property at this price point Check in and out is efficient and friendly . The rooms are modern and spacious with kitchenette ,coffee station and excellent connectivity. The bathroom is a reasonable size with all the standard facilities and good water pressure .There is a complimentary breakfast which due to covid19 is collectible from reception and comes pre packaged , I didn't take it ‘so don't know what it's like . In short a good value hotel in a convenient location for restaurants and transport links.
We were in town for an anniversary party and spent the night here. Reception staff were very friendly and welcoming. Room was clean, spacious and quiet despite being so close to the train station/tracks. We are fine with a breakfast bag secondary to COVID. Our two negative comments relate to the small lobby and the small parking lot. But we managed well despite these two small challenges secondary to the great location of Inn being in this very cute town. This location left me with an elevated perception of the BW brand of hotels.
We have stayed at this hotel often. The location is great BUT this trip was a big disappointment. The elevator was broken the entire time and I am handicapped. It made it extremely difficult. I had to use the dirty hand railing. They had no hand sanitizer. They said they would fill it, instead the dispenser disappeared so we had to take our own. On Friday we returned to the hotel and there was no parking spots. The person at the desk was totally unconcerned and said we could maybe park at the bank. We were in the process of finding another hotel when a spot opened. They are also one providing a bag breakfast. Every other hotel we stopped in has hot breakfast again. The room was comfortable and nice. We will be looking for other hotels in the area.
We visit this area often and always stay at this hotel because the location is great. However, it may be the last time. We stayed 3 nights and the elevator was out of service the entire time. My wife is handicapped and getting up and down the stairs was very difficult. She had to use the filthy handrail and when she tried the hand sanitizer in the lobby, it was empty. They said they would fill it snd never did. When we returned to the hotel one evening there was NO parking anywhere. I asked the lady at the desk who was very unconcerned and she said some guest had two cars, maybe we could park at the bank!!! We were in the process of booking a room elsewhere when a spot opened up. They are still giving bag breakfasts when every other hotel we have stayed is now giving breakfast again. Sad they don't at least open that room for guests as there were people sitting in the hallways. There are only two seats in the lobby, which by the way was “remodeled” and looks cold and uninviting. The room was comfortable.
It is in a Good location, but it has bad wi-fi as the wi-fi works intermittently. Room appears clean on first look, but I found trash under bed and sofa from previous customers. Room includes breakfast which is better than other hotels that don't include breakfast in the price of the room, but is is a bag
Poorly cleaned and badly maintained rooms. In-wall AC unit malfunctioning. Very, very lax COVID protocol enforcement despite signs to the contrary. Security non existent. Broken, noise ice maker on 2nd floor and hallway fire extinguisher case embellished with duct tape. Gap between HVAC and wall clear to outside allows bugs to enter. No grill on bathroom vent fan shows tons of dust/debris. Very old kitchen area with electric stove (coil burners) delapidated and filthy (kitchen area not shown in marketing pictures on website). Refrigerator freezer completely iced over and refrigerator barely cold. These are only the highlights.
This was a wonderful place to call home for the few days I was in town. Firstly thank you to the check in staff for allowing me to check in early after my red eye flight. This allowed me to get a nap for an hour and get totally refreshed before walking around the town. I was flying in and out of JFK and the train station is right there by the hotel which was super convenient. Had a room on the 3rd floor and I was shocked at how spacious and well appointed the rooms were. Easily walkable to the cute downtown area full of shops and restaurants.
I have stayed in this property a number of times over the last three years and have always been very satisfied with all aspects of the hotel the rooms are spacious modern , very clean and well equipped ,connectivity is excellent as is sleep quality . The bathroom is of a similar standard with reasonable combination of pump action and individually packaged toiletries . Water pressure is good as is water temperature. Housekeeping is efficient and professional with strong adherence to COVID restrictions . The major advantages of the property is without doubt the staff , Luisa ,Wilson ,Ngozi and Roberta on the front desks are consistently polite friendly and helpful as is Claudelle in housekeeping , that said all the staff I came into contact with demonstrated the same standards , due to COVID 19 breakfast is currently a grab and go bag from reception which I didn't try, but I am sure it is going to be more than adequate. In short for a property at this price point they offer excellent value for money and a very comfortable stay.
Very impressed! Totally updated in July 2020, the rooms and even linens were brand new. Not only condition, but style...very much on a par with fancier brands. Location is unbeatable, right in downtown so we walked to lots of restaurants and stores (free parking for hotel guests.). Very quiet rooms despite proximity to RR line to Newark...could only hear occasional toots as if in the distance, absolutely no vibration or other train noise. Front desk staff were solicitous and efficient, personally bringing up extra sheets and towels weighing a few minutes, and extending our stay for late checkout before our Newark airport flight. The town itself is totally charming and affluent, lush parks and top notch stores and a variety of restaurants (including long standing Chez Catherine next door.). This experience changed our view for the better for the Best Western brand. Will stay again next time we have flights into or out of Newark airport.
Not all rooms have microwave. After requesting, on was provided. Then due to noise above, we had to change rooms. No microwave either, and we were told that. Why did mgmt not move from another room? Refrigerator is not a refrigerator but is a wine cooler with set temp which can't be lowered and is set at 48 deg, not sufficient to cool. Breakfast is sparse and one must ask for items that are advertised but not provided. Beds are comfy and clean as expected.
Everyone greeting guests at the front desk was friendly and helpful. The lobby is small but the rooms are ample in size, clean and comfortable. My granddaughter said the bedding was "snuggly", which is a high complement. This is not a resort hotel where you will be spending lots of time in the lounge, etc., but it works very well as a home base when you have business or are visiting family nearby and just need comfortable, safe sleeping and unwinding space. We also appreciated the easy walk to good coffee and restaurants. It's close to the light rail station so during waking hours you will hear trains pass but it seemed quiet at night.
Front desk staff, Luisa, went far beyond being friendly and helpful. My wife and I made 2 reservations, one through Expedia, the other using points. My wife tried multiple times to cancel with Expedia, and got a runaround each time or was quickly disconnected. Luisa made multiple calls in our presence and later during our stay to try to cancel the reservation. Very satisfied with the hotel.
A great choice of hotels in the area. Was warmly greeted by the front desk. Check in was quick and easy and the agent even recommended a local restaurant. Located right in town, perfect to walk to grab a bite.
This hotel is in a superb location, with shops and eateries within walking distance. It is an older place, but is in the process of renovation. The rooms were clean and bedding comfortable. Very nice boxed breakfasts were provided because of Covid.
Large comfy rooms that appeared to be newly remodeled. Large bathroom. Generous grab and go breakfast . Super nice employees! Everything in walking distance in this quaint NJ town! Town was quite like a beach town. Close to train station if we had wanted to go to NY.
I would recommend this place to anyone! Clean specious rooms, very friendly and helpful staff. Seems to be newly renovated. The location is excellent close to everything in town. I would gladly stay there again.
As a frequent business traveler, I do not like being surprised at check-in with "Pardon Our Dust while we renovate" sign. I realize that hotels need to be renovated over time, in order to maintain their appearance, but I feel that this should be made known to guests ahead of time, or at least a reduced rate be offered. I could barely conduct a conference call with the noise coming from a lower floor. Doors were left open as workers carried materials in and out, power tools used outside, just below my room, and and in the hallway, and workers yelling up and down the halls. This marred what would have been an otherwise good stay. Rooms are clean and very spacious, nice TV, very nicely appointed bathrooms, comfortable bed, and fast WiFi.
very peasant experience and the Best Western is in the heart of Westfield...convenient to everything...parking however is insufficient and the parking spaces themselves are very tight and there is very little public parking available on the weekends.
This is the third time we visit. We come for my son's treatments with Dr.Rosenfarb.Even though in our first stay back in March they were already on renovation, we still choose to come back to this hotel. The renovation hasn't affected the status of the rooms we stayed in or the quality of service we received. The rooms are clean and spacious, the staff is very accommodating and helpful. The rooms we have stayed in have always been clean and everything in them working properly. The bagged breakfast is very generous and more than enough for one person. We've had a great experience three times in a row at the Best Western Westfield inn.
I've stayed at this property four times in the last two years and the standard is always well maintained.check in and out is efficient and friendly. The rooms are spacious , properly equipped with kitchenette good connectivity including flat screen T V comfortable bed with medium quality bright white linen excellent bathroom with good water pressure and instant hot water in a shower cubicle with a door not one of those horrible curtains that some hotels use. Towels are the same standard as the linen. Housekeeping is well managed and the room and general areas are very clean although in the current COVID 19 situation rooms are cleaned on the basis of guest request which is currently universal across all hotels . There is a complimentary breakfast which at the moment is in the form of a packed meal collected from reception , the morning restaurant is closed , as is the excellent gym due to COVID 19 precautions, Indeed covid 19 restrictions and precautions are diligently maintained . I travel approximately eight months of the year to various parts of the world and am fortunate to generally stay in some of the best five star hotels , this property is obviously not in that category but it's just nice and comfortable with a homely atmosphere and the main reason for that is the staff who are extremely friendly and helpful .if you need a hotel in this area don't hesitate to make a reservation here.
We were not told that the hotel was going through renovation and therefore when we arrived we saw that the floors were dirty, so the elevator and the concierge. When we arrived there was no one at the reception to greet us, in fact there was no reception at all. At first I thought we got the wrong door. It didn't look like a hotel at all (picture attached). After making a bit of loud calls, a very nice lady showed up half asleep. She politely gave us the key for our room. The key was not programmed properly so I had to do couple trips to "reception" to fix it. It supposed to be a four star hotel, however the rooms were small, the bathroom sink didn't work. The hallway was noisy and loud. The kids had difficult time to fall asleep. The price for the room was higher because it included breakfast. However when I request about the breakfast the lady told us due to covid they have cancelled the breakfast.
Always enjoy my stay at Best Western when I go to Westfield for Dr Rosenfarb for acupuncture treatments. I appreciate the discount for his clients and little xtra amenities with kitchenette for low vision people.
Hotel is under renovation, which is fine. Stayed in newly renovated room. Shower door was not properly leveled and it slid open while showering. Used the soap dish from the sink to keep it closed. TV would not turn on. Called the desk. The person said, "I don't know anything about the TVs or remote, sorry." The next morning the facilities person came and took care of it instantly and could not have been nicer. Too bad the night staff are so poorly trained! If you are a light sleeper, please know that a local train goes by and blows it's whistle. Last thing, the wall outlet near the head of my bed was falling out of the wall! Very poor work, and could be dangerous!
Basic hotel with basic hotel breakfast. Conveniently located in downtown area and they provide access to nearby YMCA which is within walking distance. Hotel was under renovation when we were there. The staff was helpful and friendly
I had different impressions of my stay here. The good: great location to everything in the downtown area. Movie, local arts, great restaurants all within a short walk from the hotel. The room we received was spacious and had everything we needed. Personnel was caring and helpful in pointing us in the right direction. The cons: We had what I consider to be 2 flaws to our stay. The first morning we were treated to a cold shower which management said was due to a breakdown. We were traveling for 2 weeks and had 3 suitcases in our room. We didn't want to leave them in the car. When we checked out, they were doing a test on the elevator so my wife and I had to maneuver 3 suitcases down a narrow stairway. Not the end of the world, but still an inconvenience. I received a survey letter from Best Western shortly after my stay and I pointed these things out. Management emailed me back to state how sorry they were and that my account would be reimbursed 18,000 points. To date, I have never received them. I wanted to try this hotel because it was so close to my brothers house. I will probably give them another try when I visit again.
We had a suite room with stove & frig, conveniently located near to family, shopping, dining and train station. Surprisingly quiet, considering Inn backs up to train tracks. Good breakfast with (real) scrambles eggs, link sausage and fresh fruit cup (if early).
We stayed for one night as we were in town for a funeral. Upon arrival while driving into the property, we noticed a large amount of debris left outside in the parking lot, blocking parking spots. This debris was due to ongoing renovations. The room we were assigned was one of the renovated rooms. The room was in fair condition, with new flooring and the bathroom was okay. The new wallpaper in the bathroom was covering some large imperfect indentations/damage and was poorly done. The ceiling in the bathroom was stained and peeling. I was very disappointed that our TV did not work. It turned on but you could not change the channel. We called the front desk and they tried troubleshooting by disconnecting the cable box for 30 seconds. That didn't work. So, we paid over $150 for the room and had no tv. I will say there was a young lady who initially checked us in. She was pleasant and very nice to deal with. Had it not been for her, our rating would have been even lower.
Great location and great staff. There is work in progress but the difference between the "new" and the "old" rooms is night and day. Bathroom has bright LED mirrors and big walk in showers. Breakfast is free and offers more than the usual best western with cappuccinos among a wide variety of other items. Rooms are always clean and staff is always professional. Walk to train, bus, food and shopping. I look forward to renovations being complete
I stayed a his property for three weeks during which time I found most aspects to be satisfactory, the property is very well located for shops and restaurants if additionally you are attending the acuvision clinic of Dr Rosenfarb then. It's an easy 10 minute walk to his offices. The check in and out were efficiently handled and the reception staff Amanda ,Roberta and Morgan are extremely pleasant Roberta the the night clerk was especially helpful .The room (337) was spacious and reasonably furnished with a work station micro wave fridge and TV the bathroom was similarly of a good size toiletries are basic but appropriate to this price point water pressure is adequate but water temperature is very hit and miss sometimes the hot water is not as hot as it could be ,towels and linen are of average quality and adequate .sleep quality was as it should be as the room was very quiet the bed was also comfortable.Housekeeping kept the room clean but was a bit slapdash with restocking often I was left without toiletries and on one occasion the trash cans were forgotten and left unemptied linen was changed on an adhoc basis .The hotel offers a hot breakfast which I found not to be to my taste there are a lot of pre cooked commercially packed items including scrambled eggs and omelettes which are factory flash frozen and then reheated in either the microwave or oven , not sure how healthy that is ,that apart Anya who runs the breakfast room is charming and does an excellent job complying with guests requests.in short this is a good value hotel and I would definitely only stay here when I return to Westfield
Being located in the heart of the town and more importantly next to a train station makes it a commuters dream! The staff are very nice and professional. The breakfast selection is excellent. The high speed internet is up to par. You can go wrong with this hotel, strongly recommended!
I have being using this hotel for a while now and I must say that It was a pleasure to stay there every time. The hotel is under renovation and comparing the old rooms vs the renovated ones the difference is huge. I am very big fan of the new look. The staff is very nice and professional. The breakfast is excellent. Overall excellent hotel!
I have stayed at this hotel for few days and I must stay I really enjoyed my stay. There was a problem with the hot water that I reported to the front desk on my way to work. When I got back the issues was resolved. To addition I got follow up from the manager making sure that the issue was resolved the next day. I am thankful for the care shown. Will stay here again when in the area.
We had a very nice stay. High mark to all of the staff, they were very helpful and professional. The complimentary breakfast was a delight. The breakfast attendant Anya was on top of everything. We will be back for sure!
If I could give 0 stars, I would. Let me start out by saying our entire family from all over the US came into this small town to celebrate a family wedding. 2 days before my arrival, I was charged for a weeks stay for someone else. Over 600.00 dollars that pulled from my personal checking and savings accounts. They could not help me fix this with the bank and it was their incompetence that did it to me. Then we check in and half the parking lot is covered in construction materials, because the hotel is under construction and we were never told. Starting at 6 am all we heard was banging and noises that sounded as if they were coming through the wall. On Thursday and Friday, the day of the rehearsal dinner and wedding, we had no hot water. Again no one told us. For 2 days no hot water and it is because the, "plumber lives an hour and a half away"!!!! They had water at the front desk with fruit in it. The fruit was not changed for 4 days, do not drink it. They also thought it was genius to remove all carpet and put in hardware floors, so God Bless you if you are on the 1st or 2nd floor. For the rest of your stay you will hear every movement above you. STAY AWAY from this hotel if you know what is good for you.
Poor excuse for a hotel. The town is beautiful but this hotel is a disgusting eye soar on that community. We stayed at the hotel for three days and for three days we had no hot water. Mind you we filled the hotel for a family event. Our room also was next to a room they were doing construction on. We heard constant knocking, banning, screwing, drilling etc. Between the hours of 6a-12p and than again from 5p-9p. When we brought up this up to management we were met with excuses and no resolution. We finally got to leave this morning from this hell hole. The only decent part was the continental breakfast. If you're willing to spend over $500 for no hot water and construction, by all means check this place out.
I recognize this motet is a business.and appreciate the past relationship we shared. When I returned to the Inn with my roommate in ccu, intensive care, and was given a prognosis, which was grim.I felt that similar coldness that we wrote about after our last stay.I attempted and did book a stay up in New Providence,Closer,to Hospital, and they were having a special rate.I was denied.the rate and at the time I was a Diamond Member.I calculate my financial loss to be at least 200.00. Nothing was done. I assure you that that will be my last stay at the Westfield Best Western. And that's sad because WE. had enjoyed a majority of the staff and we wish to thank all in Housekeeping and The overall experience was not as expected.I'd rather not comment much more ,as it is where.I whole strongly recommend considering the New Providence Best Western Plus. Thanks to all the overworked Housekeeping staff, and to Amanda, Last time for these guests.
This hotel is conveniently located. There is plenty to do within walking distance. Many shops and restaurants and banks that you can easily walk to. On Saturday morning there was a farmers market next door as well. Parking however was a hassle
My in-laws stay here often when in town. They stayed again this week. The hotel has been somewhat renovated, we noticed when we came to pick the in-laws up, The phone was across the room from the bed, the bagels in the morning were not near as good as they use to be ( now small and taste like frozen bagels) and the phone charging dock next to the beds don't work. Overall not super impressed.
The front desk staff are a delight! The location could not be better! Walkable distance to all the restaurants, bars and most importantly train station. Strongly recommended! The hotel manager was excellent went above and beyond to help with the small issue I experienced, not worth mentioning. I'll be back for sure!
The location was excellent, walkable distance to everything in town. A block away form the train. Commuter's dream. The breakfast was very good, large selection. The staff very helpful and pleasant. Keep it up!
Hotel had unique décor. Good breakfast. Clean. However, I made reservations over phone for 2 nights. Specifically asked what the total would be & when I received answer, I asked if that included all charges, or if more would be added. Well, as it turned out, the total she gave me was only for one night, so the room cost double what she told me it would cost. Don't know what part of total she didn't understand. Needless to say, I was not a happy camper. So, beware. If we had been on a tight budget, that could have been disastrous.
I stayed here on July 27, 2019 for a wedding in the area. It's a little confusing when you first get to the hotel because you're not sure really where to turn into park. There's parking behind the building but there's not a lot of it. My room was on the second floor. The bed was comfortable the air-conditioner worked. The bathroom is also very clean. On the second floor is the room where you have your continental breakfast. Since it is located right on the street there is quite a bit of street noise. There's also many shops and restaurants that are within walking distance, which is good because if you leave with your car you might not get a parking space when you get back. The only complaint I would really have is the shower. The shower curtain is cloth and I found that it got the floor quite wet even with a towel on the floor.
We stayed here for a family reunion. The ad for this hotel does not play up their location like they should. Over three days we only used our car three times. Restaurants, shops, a grocery store all within a short walk from your room. The room was really nice. The beds were comfy and it seemed to be newly remodeled. My only complaints are the lack of carpeting seems to not drown out any noise fron the people on the floor above us (we stayed on the 2nd floor) and the water pressure in our shower. But the house keepers were very attentive and the breakfast had a good selection for being free. The train stops at the end of the block for those wanting to explore. They also had a great farmers market at the train station. We will definately stay here again! We loved it!
The hotel is under renovation, that must be kept in mind. That being said I believe this places additional pressure on everyone. We have always enjoyed our experience while in Westfield.l would be remiss not to comment that there appears to have been a dynamic inserted into the recent past interpersonal connection with staff and guest. We were scheduled for a late checkout (noon). The house phone began to ring at 12:03 ,and many frequent times thereafter. We finally stopped this banter on the phone.,Were able to obtain a cart arrived at the desk13:17,Attempted to explain our issue, offered to pay for the inconvenience. The response was well there is a very “wealthy guest who wants to check in at 13:00.And she is furious! We asked as to her whereabouts so that we could apologize in person for inconvenience to her,we were told she was out clothes shopping. We were then reminded for at least the one hundredth time”Remember you're in WESTFIELD “ . Thank you so much. I was born here, My Father was born in a home on near the original post office in 1903 his parents lived here before him,as did my Mothers parents,And I have been employed by the town in my early years and I am able to read a map.Now I understand that your reasoning was that English is not your first language. That is fine. However it would have been beneficial if you choose to remain at the desk so we could have checked out in a more rapid fire manner.I think if we all take one thing away from this experience, get over selves
Excellent service and close to restaurants we walked to Vicky's for Breakfast and Figuerro Italian for graduation dinner. We walked to nearby shops and stores. Smiles await you when entering the lobby. Remodeled Rooms are Gorgeous with new wall paper, hardwood floors, new vanity in bathrooms and shower. The bathroom tiles on floors are new and in shades of white/gray/black.
I stayed at the Best Western Westfield for my wedding. It's conveniently located to the venue I was married in town. We stayed pre-renovation, so I'm sure they have some great things in store as far as updating the aesthetic or ventilation of the place. All around hotel prices have gone up incrementally over the past 15 years, so I suppose it's among the proper cost for its value. The value being its location. The staff was friendly, I didn't have many run-ins with them. It's very small. The bathrooms in our room were my favorite part.
Stayed 2 nights while attending a funeral. Stayed in room 339, which was extremely clean, with a quite efficient A/C, with two queen size beds, a functional microwave, refrigerator and single serve k-cup machine. The owner, Christian was extremely helpful in getting us information regarding a blanket we were interested in purchasing. The breakfast area was clean and provided an assortment of items. Typical “free “breakfast fare, which I would rate a 7/10. Would stay again if ever in Westfield. The location is super for walking distances to restaurants and stores.
Our trip was centered downtown and we were able to shop and eat without moving our car. So convenient ! We will definitely utilize this Inn again as our family lives here. Also, train to NYC right across the road !
We worked with Christian to not only block off rooms for a family event, but also to use space in the hotel for family meals together. He and his staff worked tirelessly to make everything perfect for us, coming up with a creative solution when room was tight. The incredible service made our family weekend perfect. We couldn't have asked for more accommodating, polite or guest focused attention. We will never look any further that Best Western Westfield Inn for needs of this nature in the future.
Some reviewers have commented on problems at the hotel, either with "age" issues or construction impact. We would like to report that the refurbishment project seems to be well underway and the hotel is getting a good makeover. There was a little noise, from work on the second floor, but it ended just before dinner time. There was a little construction "dust" in the stairwell, but management seems to keep on top of things and is sensitive to guests' concerns. Our room was refurbished, and in Excellent condition. All promised amenities were available and working well. We used the WiFi, coffee pot, and hair dryer. The tub/shower is roomy, as is the room itself. We appreciated the sitting area, and the individual room climate controls. The hotel's location is terrific. Walking distance to several restaurants, upscale shopping, and the train station, all within a few blocks. Breakfast was average, typical of low-end buffet style offerings. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Thank you.
Fantastic location in downtown Westfield—walk to shopping, restaurants, train. Room is clean, good sized and has a fridge and microwave and free wi-fi. There was no hot water for a morning shower on the first morning. It was fixed by afternoon, though. Staff was apologetic but nothing offered (eg credit) to make up for it. Housekeeping did not replenish coffee or toiletries that were used up. Eggs and potatoes at free breakfast were cold. Will stay again when I come back to town because of location and will hope for better experience.
The bathroom ceiling started leaking water because it was raining outside. Then a few minutes later it started pouring out water and the entire bathroom was flooded, destroying our possessions that were still in the bathroom. We avoided entering the bathroom to retrieve them because we were advised not to by the front desk due to a possible electrical hazard. They moved us to a different room, and said the manager would be in touch about compensation. The general manager, Kimmy, was less than helpful and told us she was not able to refund our room. She said that they could either reimburse us up to $100.00 for our damaged items, or offer us a free two nights next time we were in NJ. I knew we would be back so I went with the second option. I asked if I could get something in writing that said that, but she said she wasn't going anywhere and we could just ask for her. To make a long story short, she did "go somewhere" and the new management team wasn't willing to help us. Not only did we never receive any compensation for the damaged items, but never got to try them again. The only thing we did get is 3000 best western points which are worthless to me because I try to avoid best western like the plague, but they are the only hotel in Westfield.
I have stayed at the Best Western Westfield Inn for a few years now when I come to the area. The location is convenient next to the NJ Transit station and the stores and restaurants of Westfield. The hotel combines traditional charm with modern amenities. The included breakfast offers many options. The wifi worked perfectly.
We like to stay outside of the City but close to transport in and the Westfield Inn is perfect. NJ Transit along with a number of restaurants and shopping all within walking distance. My family and I travel to this location a couple of times a year but I am writing this review following our most recent stay because we noticed some nice changes. Breakfast was great, new additions this time; make your own waffles and a cold yogurt dispenser were now available that were not in the past. The worker refilled our coffees and if your in at the right time, warm cinnamon rolls! New staff this time and we did find out the property is under new management. We met the new general manager Michael Camassa, who sat down and talked with my wife and I for a bit which was a pleasant surprise as we find management can be absent on the front lines. This was clearly not the case here. Hotel is dated, could use a refresh but is still very clean. Housekeeping was great and the front desk friendly enough. We look forward to our next stay and hopefully continued improvements. Highly recommend. Thank you to Michael and the Best Western staff.
Sink did not drain. Tub did not drain. We were assured that if we endured the defects for the night that the maintenance person would fix it in the morning. Then in the morning we were told that he was not coming until the following day. Kid you not! Had we known we would have these conditions for more than 12 hours, we would have checked into another hotel. But that's not all: stocking breakfast supplies appears to be be afterthought. We stayed for three days. They had no napkins -- they ran out -- for all three days. No one went to the store to get any? Same thing for cream cheese, cereal (other than Total), and no maple syrup the last day for the make-your-own waffles. Walls and ceilings are thin so if you hear people and TVs in the room above you and next to you. And there is a train station adjacent to the hotel with trains coming late and early. I travel in dozens of hotels a year for work and I made the mistake of staying at this one for Thanksgiving weekend. (My sister also stayed in the hotel and told me her TV did not work). Buyer beware.
Had a very disappointing stay. The room seemed like it had not been cleaned. We checked in late and decided to make the best of it. Bath tub had mold on it. Hair on the bed and I am attaching a picture of what the sheets looked like on one of the beds. The toilet whined all night and we were on the second floor and heard people walking all night. I wrote to the manager about the lack of cleanliness as per the recommendation of the staff (wrote to Michael Camassa, General Manager) and received no response. The staff was very pleasant and apologetic.
First and foremost, get black out curtains. The room we were given faces a very nearby building that had lights on in rooms facing ours until late at night. Sheer curtains let in all light. The decorative curtains do not close to block out light. This is a huge oversight to guest comfort and would not be that expensive to correct with new curtains or, pull down shades installed. Decor is out dated including the front desk area. Carpet in room appeared in good condition but had a "sticky" feel to it in bare feet. The price for the room was quite high for the quality unfortunately we had no choice as we live nearby and our a/c broke that day and the Best Western in Westfield was the only hotel nearby with a room available. I would not purposely book this hotel otherwise, nor would I recommend based on the price vs the quality of accommodations. Having said that, the bed was fairly comfortable and pillows were adequately supportive. Room was very clean also and considering how close to the railroad tracks this room was, extremely quiet at night. Personnel were professional and pleasant. This hotel is good for someone that doesn't have high expectations or needs and wants to be in a nice town, with easy access into New York City.
We enjoyed our stay at this cozy hotel in Westfield. The hotel was quiet and clean, the staff friendly and our room very comfortable. The hotel is located about a 2 minute walk from the commuter train to Newark/New York and there are many nice restaurants within walking distance.
Convenient location, rooms spacious, clean, very comfortable king bed, tiny lobby and front desk. Staff exceptionally welcoming, professional and personable. Close to train station. Generic exterior. Not fancy, but a comfortable motel. Breakfast included w room includes scrambled eggs for those who need protein.
We love coming to Jersey. I love the people at Westfield in. Very polite and pleasant people. I would reccomend this facility to anyone. There breakfast is always fresh and hot and there juice is always fresh
Visited Westfield for a family birthday and stayed here last year. It's not special but it has everything you need including friendly staff and a car park. Westfield is a nice town and the hotel is well situated in the 'walking' area close to shops and a wine bar across the road!
It's a shame as the location is great. Some of the reception staff are not friendly or helpful. The rooms are often not amazingly clean. They don't hoover often or clean tiles etc. If you stay over a week you will need to ask to get your sheets changed. The breakfast is not great and often don't have yoghurts etc. (Not topped up during the morning, so go early). No water or anything on arrival. The beds are comfy and location is good - otherwise would rate as a 2.
Nice hotel with clean, comfy rooms. Right downtown, easy walk to all the local shops. Very reasonable price, especially since we had a small, but fully stocked, kitchen! Would gladly stay there again, and would definitely recommend.
This is a great hotel in Westfield NJ. Great rooms and amenities. Great breakfast, Set in downtown Westfield, walkable and close to train station or Port Authority bus lines. All of the staff, from room reservation, to housekeeping, to front desk, were very professional and respectful.
The staff was very professional and met our every need. One example: we came back at 1:30 am from a day trip to NYC. We had an early flight later that morning that required us to leave the hotel at 4 am. When I returned from NYC, I made two requests, a wake up call at 3 am and a copy of the bill before I left. Both requests were fulfilled. At 4 am, I went to check out and was greeted with a smile. Throughout our three day stay, the staff was always professional and very helpful. They answered our questions and seemed genuinely interested in making sure our stay at the hotel was a positive one.
My family stayed at this hotel while attending the funeral of my father. Jennifer and Amanda were so thoughtful, considerate and very helpful. The rooms were very nice and clean. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation
Excellent hotel....very clean....very nice room (nicely decorated) excellent service...friendly staff... very nice complimentary breakfast....very comfortable bed, had a good night sleep! Looking forward to many more visits to this hotel in the future!
This is a nice quiet spot in the middle of Westfield, which was convenient for some regional work I had. Everyone was very helpful and understood the value of customer service. Like many Best Westerns I do not expect a lavish breakfast, but what I needed to start my day.
Very nice, cozy hotel in convenient location. We walked to restaurants, shopping and the train station. I read a review that said it's "outdated", but I do not agree. It is charming! The bed and pillows were very comfortable. A good breakfast is included. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Very nice hotel although not very luxurious. The rooms were very clean and the staff was excellent. My only complaint is the water pressure/ shower head. This could use some improving. Overall good location, lots of good restaurants and bars within walking distance.
Everyone here is exceptional friendly, front desk staff, supervisor Teresa, Manager, Kimmy and rooms clean, beds comfortable, food good. Jeremy and Melanie in restaurant, very friendly and helpful! TY
I stay here every year and once again had a fab time. The team are really helpful and the beds are so comfortable. Bathrooms have been decorated and at last there is a decent hairdryer. Have already booked for Thanksgiving weekend 2018.
Always have had wonderful experience staying at Best Western in Westfield NJ which is our reason for staying several times per year. Family is nearby and town has many restaurants and a great selection of stores most of which are walkable.
The staff at the Best Western Westfield truly care about the comfort and welfare of their guests. We appreciate the very personal accommodations so that we could observe the Jewish Sabbath.....It's like coming home to family!
This is a very comfortable, warm friendly place to stay. We visit every Fall and always look forward to seeing the stuff each year. Very convenient location. Close to restaurants and shopping And comfortable walking neighborhoods.
Family members gathered in Westfield...our old home town...for a Memorial Service. The Westfield Inn was a perfect location for all our activities. Shopping, train to NYC, etc.The service was at a local church and we had dinner at Chez Catherine which is directly next door to The Westfield Inn. Good experience.
A little dated but price was excellent. Excellent staff. Very mediocre breakfast included - don't bother. Very noisy construction next door. Would definitely stay here again. Only place in town, but great location, easy walk to shops, restaurants, and train in to the city.
Small community setting with NYC chic amenities, out the door shops, high end restaurants, trains, etc.. Convenient to NYC, airport. would definitely choose again! Having run my own B&B in the past and chose to list on Trip Advisor, I highly recommend and rate Best Western Westfield Inn, Westfield, NJ as high end with lots of caring thought put into location, amenities and staff. Have stayed at hotel many times in the past. They are cutting corners in the breakfast and front end service. Ran out of Cream cheese. Noisy. Church next door rings bells hourly through the night. You must ask for a room away from church.Toilet overflowed not due to us.
Very nice, small hotel right in the center of town. Several minutes from train station with service to Newark or NYC. Parking is free and directly under the hotel. Room was comfortable, clean and quiet. Breakfast was good with actual china plates and real knives and forks rather than plastic. Front desk was helpful and pleasant.
Stayed here as it's near the RR station and convenient to our home town of Cranford. Room was comfortable and breakfast was very good. Parking is a bit tight, but there seems to be enough for the guests. Easy walk to Trader Joe's.
This hotel is in a very convenient location for commuters to NYC or those visiting and working in central NJ. It is a small hotel, which makes getting a reservation difficult. The service by desk staff is a bit uneven--and the rules about accommodating guests seem strict. Staff are not always gracious in their refusals. Housekeeping is excellent. Food for breakfast is not very healthy or flavorful. Rooms are a bit worn--especially bathrooms. Noise can be an issue. However for my purposes it was a good place to stay.
this is really the place of choice when visiting this part of New Jersey - the hospitality, room and the entire " inn feeling " . The location is perfect for local , New York City, shore, etc. Most of all , the entire staff went out of their way to assure my stay was flawless , enjoyable , and looking forward to the next time. Whenever something asked for immediate response was given and the value superb. the inn is not new but this is what makes it so charming and not cookie cutter style which is tiring. Obviously, an important component of Westfield after all these years and years to come. Am used to the Best Western properties and really rate this one very highly.
Stayed here on Aug 25 with my parents, we had a funeral to attend to the next morning. Staff was nice. The room we stayed in was very outdated, definitely old. Also we had breakfast the next morning, it was fair. I would've liked to have a better selection. Other than those two issues, we enjoyed our stay and hopefully if we ever visit the area again we'll definitely book here.
Lovely clean comfortable hotel. It was very central and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We were visiting for my niece's wedding when my Mother took ill and it was good to know that while my mother was in hospital I had somewhere safe and friendly to return to each night. The breakfast each morning was an added bonus and the breakfast room was kept clean and well stocked. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to others visiting Westfield.
It was the closest to home atmosphere we could have found. The desk clerks were so very helpful in regards to local transportation, restaurants, etc. The breakfast was very nice. Appreciated the plain yogurt, nuts, applesause and fresh fruit.
Very nice stay at this Best Western. Accommodations were great, room was very clean and newly renovated. Hotel was within walking distance of many restaurants and shops. Staff was very pleasant. Only minor fault was low water pressure in shower but that may just be the nature of all hotels nowadays.
The hotel was clean, comfortable and had more amenities than I actually required. I had a one night visit only with the sole purpose of visiting my Aunt. I would definitely stay at the Best Western in Westfield again.
Excellent hotel in the middle of Westfield NJ, an upscale and quite affluent community with a train station and bus service around 40 minutes from Manhattan. Downtown area loaded with almost every ethnic entry restaurant. you can imagine from takeout Chinese to upscale sushi and Asian. You may walk almost everywhere and enjoy smart shopping for the women(and men) Trader Joes is here with its low price high quality wines. Call it plonk, but call it excellent tasting.A town to visit or live in.
Features to appreciate about this hotel: * friendly front desk ~ Amanda checked us in and was wonderful. She told us of places to eat and was warm and welcoming. * on-site parking * central location ~ walk to train station, next to Well-Fargo bank, across the street from downtown shopping area and restaurants (5 Guys Burger, Starbucks, etc.and upscale restaurants all within 3-4 blocks) * fairly spacious rooms and updated baths * liked the fabric covered big bench to put suitcase etc. on in room * free internet and breakfast * bed is super-comfortable * working frig We were very pleased with our stay and will stay here again. Some of the room decor may be a little dated. I don't mind as it is comfortable, and sometimes when a room is updated, they lose some of the comfortable features.
This hotel is in my opinion a 2-star hotel that charges 4-star prices. The front desk seemed very uninterested in having my business when I was checking in, it took 15 mins to get someone to answer the front desk phone when trying to set up a wake up call. The refridgerator was really noisy with an incessant buzz that made it very hard for me to sleep. The counter for the sink in the bathroom is tiny, not really enough room for two peoples bathroom supplies. That all said the room was decent sized and reasonably clean, and the bed was ok, though the sheets are pretty coarse. For the price I definitely would not stay again!!!
This property is dated; however, the staff was very courteous & efficient. The room was cleaned, but smelled strongly like a man's cologne. I could hear the person above me. The check-in & departure process was seamless.
The staff were exceptional. Went out of their way to get my room cleaned so that I could check in early. In the evening, found me real wine glasses and brought them up to my room even after I told them I could use the plastic ones in the lobby.
Great location to visit family in Westfield. Easy walking to many restaurants and a lovely park. Great staff. The rooms could use some updating but I'd happily stay again. No outdoor space. I'd love to see them use the roof as a place to get a little sunshine but until then there is none.
What a great experience! Helpful, courteous staff, delicious breakfast, terrific FSC little town location. Should not be missed if you stay over in the Westfield, New Jersey area. Surrounded by great local restaurants and a grand find! Definitely staying there again soon!
You could not ask for a more friendly and personable staff. It was refreshing to receive such courteous and professional service in a time when rude and abrupt behavior seems to be the norm. They even put out fresh chocolate chip cookies every evening and had cold lemon water available at all times! I would definitely go back there.
A friend and I spent a wonderful weekend at this Inn. Rooms are clean and spacious, employees were knowledgeable and the breakfast had so much to choose from! Downtown shopping is great and everyone is so friendly! We both loved it and will surely be back.
Nothing to say except VERY disgusted, LIVE ROACH found on the bed under the pillow. Checked out immediately. Will not recommend in the future. Unfortunate, as my family has used this hotel for 25+ years.
By pulling through the arched opening and into the parking area of the Best Westfield Inn, parking my car, and walking into the small lobby, I immediately achieved a pleasant serenity and escape from what would otherwise be the rat-race atmosphere of suburban New Jersey. By then checking into what I was told was the "one room" that was still available, I gained access to impressively large and luxurious sleeping quarters and a magnificent bathroom. The location of the Inn is optimal for strolling around the downtown area, with several nice restaurants in the immediate vicinity. I also walked through a public park area to the suburban neighborhood where my parents were born and raised.
Clean rooms larger than expected when we entered the tiny lobby. Not many rooms, and all guests are catered to. Free breakfast was good...they closed at 930am, and reopened 15 minutes later and stayed open until almost 11am..after they found that many guests missed out! Thank you amanda at desk for making the decision, and to melanie for serving us all with sincere desire for our satisfaction. The beds were older, and a bit stiff, and doors not soundproof. But for a 100yr old bldg, it was in very good condition! Highly recommend to those who dont like crowds or hearing no...kudos to yet another best western inn
We told them we had 6 people staying in the room, but they didn't provide sheets in advance for the extra bed. When we asked it took them over 2 hours to find sheets for us. My small children were way past their bedtime and crying because they had no place to sleep.
I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Beds were comfortable and everyone was pleasant. Location was right in the center of town with wonderful shops and restaurants...all within walking distance. Highly recommend and will stay there again!
Great time, beautiful place. The rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly. Can literally walk to restaurants, stores and bars. If I need to come back again, I would definitely stay here again.
I stayed at the Westfield Inn while interviewing for a job nearby. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The cookies at the front desk were a nice touch and a welcome snack after a long day. The room itself was spacious and the beds were extremely comfortable. The bathroom was beautiful and clean. I was not familiar with the area and the front desk staff was more than happy to provide suggestions for local spots to eat dinner that were close enough to walk to. I would definitely recommend the Westfield Inn to anyone visiting the area.
This Best Western has never let us down. Convenient for our needs, helpful, courteous staff, kitchenette is a great option to keep food costs down. Best of all are the fresh baked cookies around 5 pm!
This is a small hotel in a great location. It is within walking distance of many nice restaurants and stores. The hotel is clean, the staff is professional, and the wifi is terrific. The breakfast isn't anything exceptional. For a small hotel, I think they can really set themselves apart with a full breakfast. It's a little loud at the hotel due to its proximity to the train station (the tracks run right behind the hotel). Overall, it was a nice experience and I would come back.
This is a gem. It's near the train, in the heart of Westfield. It's also walking distance from boutique stores & restaurants. Breakfast is included as is WiFI. The rooms are warm & welcoming. Highly recommended.
This little hotel is a gem. We were in town for a family funeral and this place was recommended. It is small and while the building is a bit older, everything looked to have been renovated recently and was very clean and nice. Comfortable beds. The heating/cooling system actually worked (how often does THAT happen?) and was easy to adjust. We had a corner room with a nice view of the town. Breakfast was a very nice surprise.... lovely breakfast room on the 2nd floor, looked brand new with a very friendly manager standing there to help with anything we needed. Eggs, sausage, cereals, pastries, bagels fruit and 2 kinds of juice. Lot's of hot coffee, and a huge selection of teas. Concierge couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Would stay there again in a heartbeat!
Pleasant stay , greeted by very friendly and professional staff. Loved the decor and clean, beautiful remodeled rooms! Free parking and delicious breakfast included with your stay. Great location! I would definitely recommend this hotel to to my friends & family .
This hotel is located at the heart of Westfield with plenty of restaurants nearby and also close to the train station. Rooms are spacious and staff is very nice. There is continental breakfast included but it is very simple (after a while we get bored as there aren't many options). You can sleep very well (very quiet).
Quaint hotel. Very quiet and arrived to the smell of freshly baked cookies. The guestrooms were spacious, modern and the beds are extremely comfortable. A welcoming staff and very courteous. Also enjoyed the complementary healthy breakfast. I recommend staying here for your next visit to Westfield New Jersey.
My boyfriend and I stayed here this weekend, the hotel itself is a little dated but that didnt matter, the beds were comfortable and the rooms were very clean. The breakfast was excellent, the girls that worked in the breakfast room were very pleasant and so were the rest of the staff
What a quaint hotel. It definitely has that European boutique feel to it especially with a wonderful French restaurant attached. The staff was awesome and were all very knowledgeable with my requests on the local scene. There is a ton of shops and restaurants all just a few blocks away. My room was immaculate and the free breakfast was a nice surprise. I really enjoyed the fresh New York styled bagel shop bagel. I will definitely be back!
I really enjoyed this hotel and found the employees very friendly and helpful. It was like a home away from home. There was a delicious breakfast. The fresh pastries and bagels were my favorites, but there was also gluten free items and fresh fruit for my girlfriend. I will definitely be staying again.
Terrible! Old smelly rooms, cracked tile, dirty soap, rooms overlooking construction. We've had to switch rooms twice because of smell and heating problems. Our room smelled old and musty. The room , which supposedly is the nicest and largest in the hotel, had a kitchenette from 1970. The carpets haven't been cleaned since about that time. Our bed is a rock with scratchy, paper think sheets. No down comforter in sight. Thin, uncomfortable pillows. The roll away bed and pull out couch are not even worthy of my 5 and 8 year old who could be happy sleeping on the floor. The decor is completely outdated, the knobs on the cabinets don't even match. The paint is scuffed all over and the wallpaper is old and peeling in many places. They have apparently patched several holes over the years but have not made much of an effort to cover up the patch job. The bathrooms are the size of a closet and the lobby is not much bigger than that. The tub/shower is old and rusty and, for my parents in their seventies, will be a challenge for them to step into. We stayed here because we were under the impression there are no other hotels nearby. We found out there is a BRAND new hotel just 10 minutes down the road. Though we only checked in this afternoon, we came back to the Westfield best western around 8 to tell them that we were completely dissatisfied and wanted a refund so that we could take our two young children and move to the much nicer and cleaner hotel 10 minutes from here. However, they refused to refund our money and said that they are sorry for the inconvenience, but have given us a Best Western gift bag to compensate. This bag consisted of two small random bottles of water and two European cookie looking things. I have stayed here before, because again, there were no other hotels in the area up until a month ago, and the 'free continental breakfast' consists of some dehydrated eggs and a bunch of prepackaged cereals and pastries that no health-conscious individual would want to consume. For a quaint, New Jersey town with some upscale boutiques and salons, I cannot believe this dump has been the only option for many many years. I have no loyalty to Hilton Garden but after just walking in to the lobby and seeing a basic room, I urge you to stay there, rather than there. Not to mention, that the brand new hotel is the same exact price. I've added several photos but will attempt to take more in the daylight hours.
I must start by saying that this hotel is quaint, the rooms are clean, and the staff are very friendly. The hotel is also extremely overpriced for a hotel next to a train station with train noise pretty much all day and night! Then add in the fact that the black out curtains don't close, so you have constant light and noise from the train station with the sun streaming right in because only the shears fully close. Right now, there is also construction going on right next door-translate to right outside my window making more noise at 7am ... of course that was hours after the trains started sounding the horns though... all in all just way too much money for a room where it was impossible to get any sleep. Oh, and as someone else pointed out the walls and floors are paper thin so you hear everything- I could tell what tv stations both of our neighbors were watching (come to think of it the people above us too). Again, quaint, clean, and friendly... just not nearly $170 worth.
My sister and I planned a trip to New Jersey to visit family and due to unforeseen circumstances we had to book in to a hotel. Westfield Best Western Inn was recommended due to it's location and it was perfect. It is a 40 bed Boutique Hotel which serves breakfast only. The whole ambience was magnificient. Staff from General Manager to reception to breakfast room and housekeeping and maintenance were the most friendly group of people I have ever encountered in a hotel abroad. The hotel is quaint in style with spacious rooms. We had the benefit of a kitchenette which as Irish, made it so easy to make a cup of tea. Beds and bed clothes and pillows were very comfortable. I usually spend the first few nights fighting with pillows when not having my own but they were perfect. Noise levels were very very low in the building itself which added to it's comfort. Sadly Chez Catherine was closed for renovations so we did not get to enjoy a meal there. The hotel is near the train station and all shops and restaurants. location was 100% Woukd recommend this hotel without hesitation but be aware it does not have a bar.
I have just returned from a 10 day trip to the USA and stayed in this quaint beautiful 40 bedroomed hotel for 8 night. It came on the recommendation of an American cousin as we requested information on a suitable place in the centre of the many cousins we were hoping to meet. Our room was a lovely big room with 2 Queen beds. A kitchenette was attached to it with fridge, stove, microwave ,coffee maker with endless supplies of coffee/tea. Staff were top class. Roberta the Manager was a delight to meet and such was her concern she gave us goodie bags for our return plane journey. She runs a great business there. The accommodation staff were friendly efficient and courteous. Breakfast room Valerie was a delight to meet first thing in the morning.Front desk staff were first class also. I couldn't find fault with anything in this hotel and totally recommend it. The area is terrific as the train station is nearby and wonderful restaurants all around. Best Western dosent have a restaurant so location was perfect for restaurants. If I ever return to N.J. this will be my first choice of hotel. Loved it.
The Best Western Westfield Inn is a charming inn tucked away in a convenient location on a main street within walking distance of stores and restaurants in a delightful town. It doesn't have the feel of a hotel chain. It is cozy and comfortable. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast is substantial. Nobody will go away hungry. In the evening there are complimentary warm, delicious chocolate chip cookies There is also a dispenser of lemon water in the office for thirsty travelers .
I was in town for three nights and found this property to be superior in every way (I did not eat the breakfast). If there is such a thing as a boutique chain hotel, this is it. Having grown up in Westfield, I was concerned by the proximity to the railroad tracks, but I never heard a whistle when inside the room. Ditto the nearby fire station. Room was nicely appointed, clean, comfortable, very well serviced each day without inconveniencing me by friendly housekeeping staff (kudos!). Front desk staff were knowledgable and helpful about area dining, attractions, shopping, and necessities. Many dining options nearby, ranging from fast food to the white-tablecloth Chez Catherine, on site. Regrettably, I was not able to eat there. Centrally located, you can walk to dining, upscale shopping, sundries and necessities, banks. I rarely recommend a property unreservedly, but I have no trouble doing that with this Best Western.
We booked this hotel months before we arrived. Upon going to our room (210) we noticed it was next to the elevator, and hoped that it would not be noisy. The elevator was the least of our problems, about 5:30 am the guest above us must have started his tap dancing lesson, the floors cannot be soundproof since we heard every step.In addition, there is something wrong (?or its just old) with the a/c when it goes on it sounds like a small car is driving through the room .Then at around 7, and to our surprise, the breakfast room was our adjoining room, and so the real noise began, so much for sleep. We were going to leave but the desk person assured us that changing to a larger( suite) would be quiet, I asked for some compensation for the lost night, but did not get anywhere with that, I cannot imagine that anyone staying in room 210 could get any reasonable amount of sleep, but they sell it anyway. The next room was much better, but beware the train! It runs right behind the hotel, and the engineer want to say hello as he passes, so a couple of loud train whistles gets that done. So off to breakfast, it's just ok, bland eggs and then the usual other stuff, we were lucky enough to enjoy our coffee next to a family with young children, they thought they were home, and in keeping with hotel policy, made as much noise as possible, not only the children, but the parents as well. Ok , no nice quiet cup of coffee, and reading the paper on this Sunday morning. So the moral of the story is, I won't be back anytime soon. With two large hotels being built close by there will be other options.
This hotel was convenient to our business destination and the rooms clean. The bed was hard but OK. Breakfast, typical fruit, yogurt, toast and eggs/sausage. Coffee very weak - need better. Vending machines only take cash. Parking are was good and somewhat protected. There were not note enough electrical outlets available. The town itself is nice and there are plenty of restaurants to choose from - This hotel was easy to get to from the highway. If other options are available in the future, I will probably not come back to this particular hotel. If you like the sound of a near-distant train, then this place might appeal to you! -------- P. Reserved a room for my wife's 50th high school reunion. Perfect from check-in to checkout. Nicely decorated room with king-size bed. Clean everywhere. No complaints. She mistakenly left an article of clothing which they found. Not only that but she had left another article of clothing as well. They sent both to her Priority Mail, no charge!! Amanda is top-notch on the front desk. The breakfast room was stocked with great choices. It was a great stay We would highly recommend. Reasonably priced, too, for the reunion group.
Outstanding location for restaurants, shops, and a village shopping feel. The rooms are in desperate need of renovations/updating. Service was good but the price was pretty high considering the quality of the room. However, the location is outstanding.
this is a very old hotel in a small town in New Jersey. My husband and I were married there and lived there several years as well ,so the purpose of the trip was sentimental and we wanted to stay in town so this was the choice The rooms were well equipped and clean and all the staff ere friendly. A fitting place for a sentimental journey!
I really enjoyed my stay at the Westfield Best Western. Just like the town itself, it's classy! The room was clean & quite comfortable. The location is great - right in the center of town. I will always stay there when I'm in the area. Thank you.
We stayed on a big weekend in central New Jersey, this summer. The Westfield Inn was close to everything we were doing and there are so many places to eat, within a few blocks, we didn't know where to begin. The staff was very accommodating, friendly, and efficient. The Inn has been there for a long, long time. The room and bathroom were nothing to write home about but were clean. The breakfast that was included was your typical motel breakfast except for real bagels and some nice fresh pastries. They were a very pleasant surprise. Also surprising was the unusually generous cable television lineup. If we ever travel back to the area, we would stay again for convenience sake.
My husband and I love the Westfield Inn and employees like Amanda and Shelia make the stay extra special. They know us by name and always go out of their way to make our stay extra special. The chocolate chip cookies are a treat and we look forward to them. The breakfast is nice and it's great that they serve healthy choices like hard boiled eggs, yogurt and fruit.
Just a one nighter, but the suite was great! The VIP treatment was a nice touch and worth the few extra dollars. Staff friendly and helpful! Right in the middle of where I needed to be and close to many things that I could have gone to. I look forward to staying there again when I am in the area!
Nice Clean hotel in the middle of very nice town of Westfield NJ. Rooms were clean and up to date with friendly helpful staff. Staff was helpful in reffering excellent restaurants in the area as well as place of interest and directions.
I travel to NJ on business and only see the industrial side and highways. I didn't know what to expect in Westfield, NJ but as I approached the area I could tell it was going to be good. The downtown is beautiful with shops, restaurants, a movie theatre and a train station. Nestled among this is the Best Western. This property has free parking, a small lobby and a helpful staff. The inn is 3 floors and decorated with traditional furniture. The rooms are a good size and mine had a kitchenette. The bed was very comfortable, large flat screen tv, well equipped bathroon. The place was quiet and the complimentary breakfast was good. The only downside was that I was here for only one night.
We come to this area often and have passed by this hotel hundreds of times over the years without really noticing it. So when we needed to stay in town for a weekend we booked it without expecting much. But we were very pleasantly surprised by the nice rooms, friendly staff, comfy beds, modern furnishings, decent free breakfast, and just overall comfortable feel of the room and the property. And the price was <100 bucks which was also great. I think we'll be planning to come back for a weekend in Westfield because we liked this hotel so much.
Having had a long flight we were glad that Westfield was easy to get to from the airport. We were even more pleased to find that this hotel is in the middle of a lovely small town. The hotel staff were very pleasant, the room was clean and the breakfast was o.k. Just across the road there are plenty of places to eat or drink with no chain restaurants except for a Subway. We will stay here again if we are in the area.
This hotel has limited rooms and parking. I booked a 2 queen bed suite and was told when I checked in that only a 2 double bed suite was available. The breakfast is good. The hotel is located very conveniently close to town so you can walk to shopping and restaurants. But it is also right by the train so do not plan on sleeping in the trains roll in at 630am.
The Best Western Westfield Inn in Westfield, New Jersey is a warm and welcoming place to stay while visiting this inviting City. The staff is warm, welcoming and helpful. The breakfast is generous and offers great variety, from warm omelets and waffles, to cereal, bagels and muffins, and fresh fruit. The rooms are generously sized and handsomely appointed. This hotel is a former motor court, bearing the age well and still imbuing the charm of that era. The warm chocolate chip cookies at the front desk are a delicious and memorable touch.
A nice little place on the main street in Westfield. Obviously a building converted over from something, the building itself is old. They've done a decent job updating the interior while retaining some of the historic charm, and the rooms are decent though on the smaller side. Nothing really special, but a decent choice if you need to stay in the area.
Nice hotel with super nice staff. Clean and comfortable. Near stores and restaurants. You can walk right to the train and take it into NYC. Breakfast was nice and the room was kept clean. 200 characters minimum will dissuade people from posting because it is too much. This is crazzzzzzzzzy
The hotel is located in Westfield and close to shopping, restaurants and the train station. It is a good value and accommodates many business travelers from our company. It is conveniently located near the office. The service is friendly and the rooms are clean,
Great little hotel right in the center of Westfield, NJ. Could not be more convenient - train station to NYC a block away, many many restaurants, cafes, etc. only steps away. Whenever we visit family in the area we like to stay here. But - book early - we almost couldn't get a room!
This hotel has very comfortable beds and super friendly staff. I was very happy to stay here as it is in very close proximity to the train station, amazing restaurants and a memorial park. This is a cute historical place and I would love to stay again.
The hotel is well located with easy walk to downtown, restaurants, shops, train station. Service is personal and taken seriously. There is a breakfast room that is pleasant and well stocked. The hotel is not glitzy or fancy but the rooms are comfortable and well sized and it fits the bill nicely.
this was my first time to stay at a Best Western Inn. I was very satisfied with everything. the Bath room and room were very clean, spacious and comfortable. I would recommend this Inn to anyone and my future trips I will definitely try to find a Best Western Inn to stay at.
Great location! In the heart of the downtown with many restaurants, coffee shops, and a couple of nice bars. There is nothing else like it in terms of location in Westfield or (nearby) Cranford. Clean, comfortable rooms with decent WiFi and complimentary breakfast every day. Very nice, helpful staff.
My wife and I had a wonderful 2-night stay here. All of the staff was very friendly. The Inn is in the heart of Westfield, NJ and you can walk to many fine restaurants and shops. Rooms were very accommodating. The breakfast... I wouldn't write home about it but it was free and there were many choices.
Located in the sleepy town of Westfield, this Best Western was exactly what it was intended to be. It's a no frills, business orientated hotel. The rooms are very comfortable, the breakfast punctual and delicious, the staff incredibly accommodating and courteous and the location central. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend it to any business travelers.
This cute hotel was perfect for our group who was in town for a family event. The rooms were clean, nice size, close to town and walking distance to/from train station where we came in from the city. The staff was lovely and accommodating.
The hotel was one of the nicest I've stayed at., Lovely style, spotless, best bed I've ever slept on in a motel. Town is a great walking town lots of shops, restaurants to enjoy.Staff pleasant and very helpful.Worth a stay.
This is a really nice place to stay. The staff is very friendly and Super kind most importantly its very clean. located in the middle of Westfield where everything is within walking distance. It really is a great place.
My wife and I would definitely not recommend this hotel. It was over priced, noisy, and not clean. The only accommodating person was the breakfast attendant. The rates go up a ridiculous amount during the week.
Disappointing stay overall. Very nice, quaint town and good for 1-2 day stay in the area. Hotel location is fine, in the middle of the town, many shops, cafes, restaurants to choose from, easy to walk around. That is the only positive. The hotel is old, in desperate need of full renovation, total overhaul from top to bottom, including services. This hotel is hugely overpriced for the place and quality. We paid less at a NYC Midtown 4 star luxury hotel !!!!! Many rooms are old, bathrooms, carpet, curtains need to be changed; heating is loud and antiquated. Linens are worn and not good quality. Bathrooms are old and ours was not well cleaned at arrival. Small kitchen area in the room looks like from the 1940's and needs to be updated and cleaned better. Breakfast is small, limited, poor quality, and space is tight, not enough seating. Lobby also small and not well organized for check-in. Staff is fine, but some are slow and not too enthusiastic. Parking in the back is fine. French restaurant next door is also absurdly overpriced and not good quality or service. Maybe these places were nice years ago, but they have gone down hill. We have stayed here before but will avoid in the future.
This hotel was very comfortable and ideally located to New York City. A train station was located right next to the hotel. The surrounding area was loaded with shops, restaurants and a movie theater which are easily accessible within walking distance. This city is very safe to walk around in at night. I really enjoyed staying here.
While attending a funeral, the family needed a hotel for overnight and this Best Western was exceptionally clean, the staff was very friendly and the location was conveniently located for the traveling necessary for the family. I would recommend this particular Best Western and the chain again.
The staff at Westfield Best Western was very helpful, courteous and accommodating. I stop here whenever I'm in the Westfield, NJ area. The service and price is great, walking distance to great eateries and a French Restaurant right next door! Always a pleasurable stay! You won't be disappointed. The staff go out of there way to accommodate. Kudos to the staff! VT-Fresh Meadows, NY
A cozy, comfortable hotel right in the heart of town. You can walk to great restaurants and shops, and jump on the train to the city. The rooms aren't large, and it doesn't have a gym, but the staff is friendly and accommodating. Warm cookies at the front desk are a nice touch.
The strength of this property is its location in the heart of Westfield and its employees. It's easy walking distance to the huge variety of fine restaurants, shopping and transit to NYC and it's employees are first-rate. The nightly chocolate chip cookies are to die for ~ don't miss them. However, the wallpaper, bathrooms, carpeting, etc. are all stuck in the 1980's. Fortunately, they have updated to flat screen tvs, but they need to invest in HD services; internet reliable/speedy.
Very friendly staff, convenient to downtown shopping and restaurants and train into NYC. There are very few in-hotel amenities. The included breakfast provides great local bagels, but microwaved eggs and toaster waffles.
Clean, well furnished rooms decorated in 'colonial Westfield' style. Comfortable beds. Amenities include microwave and fridge in many rooms. Heating system is a little loud at night, but easy to turn off if needed. Staff are pleasant and efficient. Convenient location, excellent French restaurant next door. Highly recommend!
They went our of their way to open doors. Easy walk - only three stories. No electric entry. Understanding staff. Plenty of room in mini kichen for a plata (blech). nice size refrigerator in the suites - not that expensive - plus comfortable beds, clean, etc.
Much cheaper than NYC, friendly people and great amenities. 2 minute walk to train station. They have cookies at check in and a decent breakfast. Elevator is small but only three floors. Trains quit around 10 pm if you are worried about sleeping.
Small hotel nestled between the bustling downtown of Westfield and the quiet residential sections that reminds me of the street that Josh (Tom Hanks) lived on in the movie BIG. On one side of the hotel is a main street and on the other side is a busy commuter railroad. Surprisingly, except for an occasional firetruck and/or a train whistle had a restful night sleep. The rooms do need upgrades but front desk service was polite and prompt and maid service was thorough. Not far from Newark airport and about an hour train trip to Manhattan. Local restaurants within walking distance were very good.
Nicely updated good sized room Very clean Nice bathroom. Service was friendly and helpful Free breakfast was good. Right in Westfield downtown area Resturants and shopping all around Parking a bit tight glad we didn't have the 4 door F-350 -would never fit. Would defenately stay here again
We stayed for a few nights while work was being done in our home. The hotel has been at this location for many years and I'm not sure how much updating has been done. The first thing you notice is a very strong smell of cleaning products in the hallways. This odor never dissipates. In the room, the odor is there but a little but lighter. We found the curtains were graying from age and in spots were frayed. Also, the bathroom needed some new tiles to replace cracked tiles and one morning water did not come out of the shower head! The heating element was also a little wonky and consistent warm air was sometimes replaced by cool air (remember this was December!) The other issue is their parking lot. There is limited parking, so if you arrive late at night there might not be a space - we tried calling the local police to let them know that we parked in a space at a parking lot down the street and we were warned that we might get a ticket (we did not but it was disturbing us all night wondering if our car would be towed). The location of this hotel is ideal- a quick walk to the stores and restaurants intown and a very quick walk to the train station. Hopefully, some cosmetic updates will be made in the near future !
Stayed once before. Clean rooms with fridge and micro plus free breakfast. Parking underneath and walk to town for great restaurants. Train to NY is a minute walk. Great staff. Westfield is a great little town with unique shops and a great variety of food establishments. Definitely a come to again
I stayed for a weekend visiting some family in Scotch Plains thanks to my aunt for putting me up in a room. I was impressed. The hotel itself is quiet and in its own little world, but right outside is every restaurant imaginable. We stayed two nights and had no trouble sleeping. The, or at least what appeared to be, head housekeeper, Dawn I believe, was incredibly nice to us making sure that our stay was enjoyable and we had all we needed. Breakfast was by far the best part of our stay. Karen the woman whom prepared our food not only made delicious omelets but was so friendly and welcoming we didn't want to leave the breakfast room. Checking out was quite easy thanks to the bellboy, Anthony I believe his name was or Andrew (forgive me if I'm wrong) we asked the front desk for assistance and he was at our door in minutes with a smile! Overall it was a great experience. Service & Location: 5 Stars. Appearance and modernization: 3 stars. Very happy can't wait to stay again
Hotel was clean, quiet and low key. The room was clean, quiet, bed comfortable. I was a late arrival/and off early - stayed one night for business. I found the hotel easy to find. It appears to be close to a train station, but I didn't use that.
We stayed here for three nights. The staff is great and the location is very convenient. The rooms have a kitchenette feature which is helpful to families. Local restaurnats and bars are within walking distance.
I'm writing this review at 5 am after not being able to sleep all night. Between the non stop road noise (nothing like hearing trucks down shifting all night for a good night's sleep), the creaky floors, the musty odour as soon as you walk in the room, and the loud in-room refrigerator, this has to be one of the worst hotels I've stayed in for business and I cannot recommend. To management, invest in soundproofing and better pillows!
This hotel was wonderful nestled in the heart of great downtown Westfield. Hotel was very clean and welcoming within walking distances to many great restaurants, cafes and shops. The bed was extremely comfortable and breakfast in the morning was delicious.
Stayed in 210. Heard kitchen noise at 05:00. Unfortunately, I had King Kong in the room above me who was walking back and forth in his room until 02:00. The fact that the room is right off the elevators and next to the ice machine didn't help the noise. We barely slept that night. The front desk did move us to another room, but not before the staff barged in to clean this room. One small tap on the door, a key swipe, and the maid was standing in the room staring at me (I was in my underwear) and she Just. Kept. Staring. at me...
This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel while visiting family. While it costs a bit more than other hotels in the area, which are few and far between, it is worth it for the small boutique hotel ambiance. The rooms vary in size, but our king room was large and well equipped. The windows opened, which is always a nice plus. The breakfast was good - comparable to other hotel breakfasts. Chocolate chip cookies awaited us in the lobby upon returning at night. The location can't be beat - walking distance to everything in the quaint town of Westfield.
Not overly fancy but exceeds expectation. Hotel is located very centrally in town that we visit often because we have relatives who live nearby. From this hotel we can walk to coffee shop, restaurants and shops. It is also very near train station, which would be an asset if we planned to go into Manhattan.
The Westfield Inn is an excellent hotel, well-located within walking distance to restaurants, shops, trains & buses, with a friendly staff and comfortable accommodations. Booking ahead for holidays is essential.
This was a very good hotel and extremely well located right in the middle of the town of Westfield (Great Shops) We had muy husband's 50th high school reunion there and everyone was very happy with the hotel
