Best Western Hotel Santee Lodge, Santee

Room was roomy and clean. There was traffic noise but didn't bother us. Check in was very easy. Pleasant help. Parking right in front of room. Building two story with no elevator. My husband is disabled but the check in person moved us downstairs with disabled park in front of our room.

I needed a nice place to spend the night while having work done at Agile Off Road. This hotel was walking distance from them and made it very east for me, they gave me an extended check out while the work was being completed. I would stay there again as the staff was very friendly and the room was very clean and nice!

Clean room, friendly staff. Breakfast was good with lots of variety. Good location as it is close to plenty of stores and restaurants. Also due to the heat, the AC was a blessing for the room. Would stay again if in the area.

Front desk manger would not answer to assist clerk at the time and attempted to double charge for the same room after supposedly setting payments on the phone with the branch manager I would not trust staying here again.

There was a Dirty smell in the shower drain and ants in the bathroom that got into our personal belongings. The TV channel change button would not work. The AC was broken but was replaced. No scheduled room service for 4 night stay, ran out of TP and linens. Poor room service policy

Poorly run poorly staffed unclean and probably unsafe hotel. Staff poorly trained. Give either no information or misinformation. They use Covid as their excuse for everything. Internet information is ultimately dishonest

I travel about 120 days a year so far 93 of them have been in best western's this is far The worst I've ever been in. And I know I've stayed in some pretty bad hotels throughout the world They said they upgraded me to a suite. Not impressed at all. I would expect more from the best western chain. I had a two night stay at the minute I drove into the parking lot I realize that I'm only staying one night. Perhaps I'm a little bit jaded because I travel a lot and I've stayed in many hotels. This one just doesn't cut it for me.

Super staff, great location. Older hotel but close and convenient to restaurants, shopping and close to our family which was great. Although we did not have pets they do allow them which is great. We have stayed at this hotel and will stay again.

The room and pool were clean, which is essential. The down side was the air conditioner in the room. It was very much like a swamp cooler. The room was incredibly muggy and unpleasant the entire time. It was much too hot outside to shut it off. The parking lot is a bit hairy if you drive anything larger than a compact car. The spaces are small and there's only one entrance/exit.

Friendly staff, 24-hour donut & ice cream shop only steps from the lobby. 7-11 next door. Very clean, quiet, great for family. About an hour from the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum 750 Depot Street Campo, CA 91906. Great train ride.

We were on our way to San Diego Zoo. The hotel is about 25 minutes away from the zoo, but it is much cheaper than the ones closer to the zoo. We found it a good value, clean room, decent breakfast, and nice hotel staff. There is no elevator to the 2nd floor, so this should be noted when you choose to stay here.

My Mom and I travel from Northern California to watch my daughter play College softball. The hotel made are stay a prefect trip. The Manager and employees took really good care of the hotel site. The room was sound Proof.

The location for our needs was perfect. It was a very clean and comfortable hotel experience. The staff, the room, the complimentary breakfast and WiFi / TV made it was comfortable stay. I would recommend this

We were very happy with this Best Western motel. Our first choice is always BW. This motel was easy to locate. The rooms were very clean. The breakfast area was well stocked and clean. We were surprised to see more than coffee, muffins and juice. Check in staff was very pleasant and helpful.

I had $100 credit in vouchers from previous promotion and I didn't want them to expire. So we decided to book a room after attending a wedding on this day. Best Western is my "go to" for hotels. Overall, it was a pleasant stay. We only needed a place to stay for the night. Only a couple glitches..... the stopper in bathtub wouldn't let water drain. While waiting for an UBER, i looked down at curb and noticed a very flat, remainder of what was once a rat. It had been there awhile, due to it's condition. I would hope the maintenace crew had overlooked it by mistake, as it was hard to figure out what it was. But, ewww, I hope it's picked up soon!!

On a long road trip and this was one of the most disappointing places to stay. The motel room was ok. It was clean and accommodated my dog. I just got a strange feeling, people were milling around and waiting in cars for no reason. I wouldn't return .

I love this location of all the Best Western - nice staff, clean rooms and a full tub with shower. I stay here frequently as I wait for the completion of my home and have never been disappointed. The location is quiet - has pool and jacuzzi.

I loved my stay! My room was comfortable and clean. The outside appearance of the lodge is clean and well kept. The area around the Lodge is quite and no riff raff hanging out in parking lot. I know I don't have to be afraid of walking from the parking lot to my room, when I come back after dark. The staff was very friendly during my check in and check out service. This was my third stay there and I plan on coming back on my next vacation. Very happy overall and would recommend to anyone. Thanks!

The rooms are poorly maintained. There is no maid service. You must go to the front desk for towels or soap. We booked with a pet and were informed at check-in that the pet charge would be $30 per day on top of not having maid service. We have been staying at the motel for over 10 years. But this will be our last stay. Not recommended.

This place is so convenient, rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff are extremely helpful. We decided to extend our stay since we were enjoying it so much and the staff working it so we didn't have to move rooms.

Upon check in room smell like chicken curry, bed have hair, bulb light in the bathroom didn't turn on. I asked for the room to be clean and was told NO. They said room service must be require 24 hrs in advance and you must stay at least 4 night to get room service. even tough I just check in and the room was smelly with all the issues I mentioned above they refused to clean.

This motel is clean and in a safe area. Quiet and clean rooms with very adequate amenities especially with dealing with COVID. The staff was very professional and they seemed concerned for our safety and security.

Although the staff was nice, this simply did not make up for the rest of the awful stay and hotel in itself. This place is simply one step above a motel. The pictures on website are of their suite. The regular rooms look nothing like the pictures. I had to strip the bed and purchase blankets and pillows from the nearby Target just to sleep. No never ever again.

Room felt dirty and bed smelled like pee. Non-smoking room smelled like smoke. Way too much money for the quality of the room. We've paid less for better rooms. Front desk staff was pleasant at check-in/out.

When I checked in late at night I pull back the sheet to check for bed bugs and found a paper towel between the supposed clean sheets. There were large cookie like crumbs on the chair. I informed the desk and they did change my room. Next am I opened door and a homeless lady with a cart asked me if she gave me some of her stuff could she take a shower in my room. I informed front desk and they did take care of it. This is an issue of safety. I paid 171.00 a night and it wasn't close to worth it. Run down .

lights in sink area stayed on all night would no turn off, towels were stained. No servicing the room at all during our stay. .no replacement of soap or coffee, trash not emptied staff said due to Covid, but I think they took this to the extreme especially since the state is opening up. Seems like an excuse because of short staffing.

Dirty!! When we arrived there was NO toilet paper, diry tub and sink, sticky dirty floor. We had a service animal with us and there was NO place to take her! Very small parking lot and that too was dirty! I WOULD NEVER SUGGEST ANYONE STAY THERE! $200+ PER NIGHT FOR THE WORSE ROOM I'VE EVER STAYED IN!!!!!

I stay at a lot of hotels in the San Diego area and I have to say that this particular Best Western in Santee was amongst the cleanest I've stayed in that wasn't a "luxury" hotel. Far exceeded my expectations in terms of cleanliness, privacy, and spacious rooms. The only thing that could have been improved was if the beds we're better quality and less squeaky and if the grounds outside we're maintained a little better. But overall, a great stay. Wish I could have stayed longer.

To start off Customer service was horrible and rooms were Very dirty, Did not offer any type of service due to COVID Restrictions pool was close you needed to beg for towel service horrible. I have never had a experience like this NEVER... it felt like I was staying at a MOTEL 6... HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!

We had multiple baseball teams staying at the hotel, like 30 teenage boys and they didn't have access to the pool at all! We also were not told the pool was closed while booking or while checking in. Would have definitely stayed somewhere else.

The tub had been painted and is now peeling so when you use it strips of paint float all over your bath water and stick on you. corroded fixtures too. Lots of hear on the bathroom floor, maybe the mop needed cleaning I dont know but yuck. Bagged breakfast at this location while others along our 10 stay journey gave you either a hot bagged breakfast or made to order. understand covid issues but this location is just what they always do. They dont even provide coffee, except the off brand kurig. cheap out to the max for profit.The parking is very hard to get into because the place is wedged into such a small space. the handicaped parking is a joke-literally at a sloped angle- watch your wheel chair as it roles away, if you can even get your car in a spot. The reception lady was very nice however and internet worked good. Beds and pillows were great

Staff was nice and helpful. Room was very clean and everything was perfect! The breakfast was good even though it had to be a to go because of covid, it was filling and a nice variety of food. Was there 3 days and had no problems at all.

I don't usually write reviews but I would like to acknowledge the outstanding customer that I was offered during stay. Dan (Coordinator at the lobby) was always willing to accommodate my needs and would get out of his way to make sure that every guest were okay. I hope I can stay longer, but I have to drive up north for Mother's Day. Thank you so much to every member of the best western santee lodge staff. It is very nice to travel for work, but it is better when I'm treated with the highest level of professionalism and care. Thank you Israel (Suite 308).

The staff is so friendly and kind they treat me as if they know me personally. I come here all the time and I highly recommend. The rooms are clean and they have my favorite channels to watch. The convenience of the location is perfect. Everything is so close.

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The manager Dan is always walking around talking and checking on the guests making sure everything is good. The value of the rooms is perfect and the location couldn't be better

Older, but clean and friendly. Covid limited the services and they do what they can with the restrictions. However, breakfast was in a sack - and the same thing every day (apple or orange, yogurt, a pre-packaged pastery, granola bar, and water). It got boring after a couple days. We picked up the breakfast and snacked on it during the day. There is a donut shop next door that is good. (See "Honey Donuts" in another review.) There is also a Starbucks and Omelette Factory kittycorner to the hotel. Housekeeping service only once every 4th day. Coffee service is in the room and you pick up supplies from office as you may need them (more coffee, clean towels, toiletries, etc.) We generally always stay at Best Western Hotels for consistently good places - even during Covid. This hotel was an exception to BW's standards. Hopefully, things will get back to normal when Covid ends.

Pool access was padlocked, pool was dirty, caution tape laying on the ground near hot tub, Friday morning lobby “host” acted inconvenienced when we asked for the breakfast sack. When asked if coffee was available we were told to go across the parking lot to 7-11 and that there was a doughnut shop on the way. We will NEVER stay there again!

I love bestwestern santee lodge they are like family they make sure my accommodation are met!! So helpful I love them! The housekeepers are great everything overall was well! I recommend everyone to come here!!

The delightful staff was the highlight of my stay at the Best Western Santee Lodge. Every person with whom I interacted was pleasant and polite. The Pluses: The bed was pleasantly firm as well as perfectly soft without being too hard or too soft. No "dips," which is my pet-peeve. The mattress was, surprisingly, one of the best I've slept on in a hotel. The staff offered a breakfast bag with a juicy orange, yoghurt, granola bar and a danish. Good price for the area. Clean. Good selection of tv channels. The Minuses: Super thin walls. I could hear each word from the room next door. I had to turn on the fan, which worked really well to drown out the noise. Room smelled like stale smoke. Towels were on the small side. Room could use a refresh, but it's hard to complain too much since it was kept really clean (except for dark grout lines in bathroom and a bunch of peeling areas on the tub fiber glass) Water wouldn't drain in the shower so lots of standing water. I wanted to emphasize again how lovely the staff is. This makes up for many of the property's short-comings.

Staff is very friendly, they are there when you need them T.V. and internet connection is wonderful, And it stays connected. I have been in other motels where T,V, an internet kept going out. There is a washer an dryer that is there for their guests to use. And it takes quarters not a card. Price is high, but they all are.

Love how welcoming everyone here is!! Customer service is very helpful and they made sure my stay felt at home! Thank you! I highly recommend this place if anyone is traveling in the area!!! The location is great close to freeways, stores ,food everything we need! They accommodate with whatever we need! I love the grab and ho breakfast bags they have for us also!

Front desk staff was very friendly when we checked in late at night without a reservation. The hotel is older, but the room was comfortable and seemed clean. Parking is tight, but there were always spaces available. For an area full of overpriced hotels, this was an acceptable choice.

This Best Western location (Santee) is incredibly accommodating. The owners and staff went the extra mile. I will be staying here again and would highly recommend this hotel! Outstanding Service and friendly staff.

This hotel was a very Bad experience for me, my husband and puppy. Very rundown and parking lot was trashy. We will not return here. We were disappointed in quality of room with many chips in paint and filthy grout in bathroom, and chairs bottomed out.

Woke up to the whole room flooded bc they had left a hose on all night next to the room. Stepping into water first thing as you wake up, not a nice way to start the day. We thwn proceeded to tell them of what happened and they tried to blame us... and then they charged us extra. When i say it was flooded, i mean i thought we had left the bath on or something but their bathrooms were so gross we wouldnt have dared to take a chance on taking a shower at that place.

This was the worst hotel stay we've ever experienced. We understand that the Best Western is considered sort of a middle ground as far as hotels go, but we have always had fabulous stays, clean rooms, and great service and we are Gold members. BW Santee looks quaint from the outside, but that's the last good thing I can say about it. The bathroom was infested with ants, the AC unit didn't work at first because the filters were completely clogged. We had to remove the filters before it could blow cold air, and then it proceeded to leak all over the floor. We tried placing a coffee cup under the drip to contain it, but the cup was full every ten minutes. We noticed that our feet were BLACK after walking barefooted for a few minutes. The gentleman at the front desk had about as much personality as a ream of paper and even hung up on my boyfriend after we requested a late checkout. I couldn't get any hot water in the shower, even on the hottest setting, unless my boyfriend flushed the toilet. Disappointed is too mild a word to describe the let down we experienced here.

Very clean rooms.friendly staff.my stay was on a holiday weekend and was looking for someplace quiet to relax and get some needed rest.the room was very clean and comfortable with nice white towels and soft linens.i was able to relax and found the hotel and area safe.nearby stores and walking trails made for a lovely holiday.thank you.

Like other guests I found hair all over bathroom shower,sink & toilet. Floor WAS FILTHY, cracked tile and grout crumbling and missing. The vanity cabinet is a joke. They had actually applied wood-look contact paper to the bottom of it. When remodeling they left the old base cabinet and added the contact paper and a piece of new laminated wood to make it look new and added a granite top to it. TACKY!I felt like I was staying in a slum. Unsavory characters walking around area. Shower insert had been painted in an attempt to update and model. The paint was peeling off the shower. They had remodeled the rest of the room, new furniture,carpet, larger fridge and microwave. Bed was probably great when new, but it was sunken in. Outside doors need repainted. It just looks rundown. Needless to say, bring your own cleaning products and don't use the maid service. And, I used my own pillow & towels! EEEWWWWWW!

Coronavirus Unsafe cleaning. I found hairs all over the room, I had to clean the room myself with sanitizers and light. After my first impression I had cleaning skip me. Luckily I had cleaning supplies. Hairs in-between apparently clean folded towels. Overall bad vibes.

We got the King bed with kitchenette, basically a 1 bed room apartment. Good room for the price. Bed was comfy . Santee has 3 hotel/motel and this was only one with this room option. Walking distance to 7-11, honey donuts, Filippi pizza. Too bad we on this stay at home though. We stayed here due to our house getting fumigated. I would stay here again if needed.

I usually don't complain. But, after taking a shower at the Best Western in Santee, I walked across the floor of the bedroom area. By the time I got to the bed, the bottoms of my feet were BLACK with filth! The same thing happened to my wife (see the photo). I went to the front desk and showed the photo to the desk clerk. "That's not good.", he said. I asked that someone come clean the room. I have never been so skeeved out in a hotel in my life!

Room was clean, staff friendly, found it to be very affordable, we did have Internet and cable TV air conditioner and heater worked, bathroom was clean with lots of hot water, have stayed here in the past and will stay here again in the future

Water pressure was extremely por, shower Insert peeling, hair still present to the visible eye in shower. Interagated by staff when attempting to enjoy underwhelming breakfast options. What room number ,whats your name etc. Upon arrival staff member was to engage with wrestling on the TV to acknowledge I was there till commercial. Overall never stating again.

We got the King size bed and it was a suite. Came with a microwave, refrigerator. Nice couch. The bed was real comfortable. It was really clean. We didn't go swimming but the pool looked really clean. Breakfast was ok. Coffee was good. The only thing that happened was the water from the shower, in the tube took longer than usual to go down. I let the staff know and they were gonna take care if it. Other than that I would stay again

We wanted to stay near the Santee Drive-in and this was the perfect place. Check-in was easy. The person at the desk was new and stated she would have to charge a pet fee for my husband's service dog. The manager stepped in immediately and informed her that she is not allowed to do that. We were given room 105 with roll in shower. The handicap parking spaces were right in front of the room, although they were taken for some of our stay (there were only 2). The room itself was very spacious. There was plenty of room to move around in a wheelchair. The bed was very comfortable (my husband wanted to bring it home). The bed was on the high side, not great for someone who needs to transfer and can't stand to do it. The roll in shower was ok, the downside is that you do need assistance with the hand shower because it is mounted at regular height. The adjustable kind are much better and I hope, in the future, they upgrade to those. There is a portable shower chair provided. The only real downside is that the ice machine is right outside the room, convenient but noisy. We sleep with the TV on and with the heater also running, it drowns out the outside noises. We will stay again next time we are in the San Diego area.

Needed a place to stay while visiting family that was close to the family. This hotel was convenient, priced right. It was clean, and quiet and staff was friendly. It did have free breakfast but we did not use that amenity as we ate with family every day. We also did not use the pool and jacuzzi since there really wasn't the time. We would recommend this hotel if the need arises to stay in this area. We would stay here again.

Stayed for two nights and was very happy with everything. The premises, the staff, the breakfast food, suggestions for local restaurants. Everything was great. I will be staying here again when in town.

This hotel is located within walking distance of a 24-hour convenience store and a donut shop. One of the San Diego MTS (trolley) stations is within a mile of the hotel. This was my second stay at the Best Western Santee Lodge. I stayed there two years ago (2017) and I wrote another good review on TripAdvisor. The hotel has been upgraded since then, with a better TV and furnishings. The only drawback is the "first come, first serve" free parking in a somewhat constricted parking area.

Rooms were nicely remodeled, beds are very comfortable! Having a fridge and microwave was very nice. All employees very very courteous and helpful! Location worked well for us! We will be returning in January!

This hotel is very friendly and the location is perfect for us as it is near our daughters home. There is somewhat of a variety for breakfast which makes it more appealing. The hotel is clean and the staff is very accommodating. The parking is tight but since we don't need to park a car it isn't a problem for us.

After 3 days on the road I was tired from travel and needed a spot to rest. The staff at Best Western (Josh) went out of the way to accommodate parking my 20 foot moving truck. They allowed me to park in front of the lobby and assisted us in backing the truck into a parking spot. I appreciated the assurance that our truck would not be towed even though we were parked in a non conventional manner. Thanks Staff at Best Western

Exceptionally clean rooms and grounds. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We loved the pool and hot tub! Nice to have a washer and dryer onsite. Breakfast was good for typical hotel free breakfast fare. I will definitely stay here again when visiting Santee! Found a new home away from home!

Our visit here was challenging due to many issues. Our room was 4ft. from the very noisy ice machine which cycled on frequently and was used often by other guests. The first night the toilet leaked. The maintenance man was very friendly and helpful but unfortunately did not adjust the toilet flow correctly so the toilet ran all night the second night. The floor tiles in the shower area were slippery when wet. The bathroom walls had been repaired but never painted. We did appreciate the two chairs and a table. The breakfast room is quite small.

Room was as expected, breakfast the usual fair not a good as some we've been to. The pool was dirty dispite the fact it was supposedly cleaned the day before we arrived. The hot tup was discustingly dirty with what looked like mold or rust, definetly needed to be resurfaced. Noisy a/c unit, had to wear earplugs to sleep.

Nice place. Clean. Comfortable. Very nice staff and service. I like breakfast included. I drink coffee in the morning, a must. My husband doesn't. He doesn't get it. So it's very nice when I can go down and get my coffee. They changed up the meal each morning.

I visit this hotel several times a year to see family in the area. My stays are always so pleasant. The staff if just above and beyond expectation. The room was spotless and the new remodel with wood flooring was wonderful. I never felt cleaner in any hotel than this one. Every day presented a spotless, carefully cleaned room with fresh towels and immaculate bedding. This place rocks!

I looked at all my options in Santee, even though there were a few mixed reviews. I didn't have a single issue. They are still updating a few things on property ( exterior paint on walkways) but the rooms were amazing. This is the first hotel I did Not cringe at when I walked in during my stay in CA. This motel is an older motel but still quite comfortable. Our room was clean. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast room was clean & had an array of breakfast selections more so than other chain motels. We were a little upset about the overall price as we spent 9 days & the area was not on the beach or near any attractions but what can you say...that's California....high prices!

Clean, quiet and reasonably priced location for parents visiting at San Diego Christian College. Staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are a little dated but the included breakfast was yummy. The hotel was full and it was quiet. Pool and jacuzzi available but I didn't use because of the bad weather. Am a single traveler and I felt safe. Can walk to nearby Sonics or 7 Eleven. 3rd time staying here. Consistent.

This was a special surprise and so delighted we have found this gem of a hotel. The speical attention to details in the room and at breakfast were outstanding for his level of hotel. Upon arriving to our room we received a courtersy call to inquire if the room was to our stafistaction. Ample towels, the television remote was sanitized and cleaned and in cloth holder. The room was clean and no visible carpet stains. Bathrom was clean and well-maintained. Staff was helpful and cheerful. When I made the reservations I requested a "quite" room ( which I know is difficult to guarantee), but the reservationist mentioned a few room numbers that would be farther away from the street and said they would call me when one of the rooms were ready and I could come in and check in, as they are unable to guarantee a particular room. WOW! Nothing in life iis 100 percent perfect, but for my visit this property is doing a great job in meeting all the expectations of their guests and that is an extremely difficult task to accomplish!!!

I've stayed here twice and each time was pleasant. The staff was friendly and the room was clean. Breakfast was good and the food tasted fresh. Close to the highway, but not too close. Safe area, I would stay again.

Uncomfortable mattress and pillow; poor paint job; toilet door would not close; lights on timer; no decor; desk clerk accused us of making noise all night, based on next door guest. I'm 87 & my son is 54. We were in beds, trying to sleep. The guest on the other side of this woman told us she had complained about her family also. & that the clerk had knocked on her door in the middle of the night scaring her. The bathroom has a plastic tub insert with no grab bars. The room has 2 queen beds was obviously built for doubles, since there was no room for 2 people to walk around.

Check in was fast and efficient; breakfast is included. Rooms are clean, but a little shopworn. Location convenient, just off the highway, but there is no road noise. Room has what now seems to be a ubiquitous odor of air freshener, which I don't really like, but which seems to grace every hotel room I have been in lately.

Santee is a good location to visit greater San Diego. This Best Western adjoins next door neighbor “Dougnut” shop that is family owned and offers 24 hrs service including Thrifty Ice Cream, a wide sandwich menu, and Yogart specialty bowls at an excellent price. Costco Gas is “just down the road.” The 52 (East-West) freeway is close, but not audible. Reservations by phone were simple and easy to make and get our AARP discount applied. After a long drive check-in was fast, informative and easy; restroom access a few feet away. The room felt spacious, two queen beds adequate, but are definitely on the firm side. Check out was offered as express, or in person. Parking was good, seemed very safe. We did not use pool or spa, but other guests did. Shower water pressure was strong, water definitely hot enough. Refrigerator was adequate to hold left overs, microwave to reheat. The in-wall air conditioner/heater seemed loud to me, but we are not used to this type of appliance. I would DEFINITELY stay here again.

I often stay here while visiting some friends and while the decor and amenities are little dated. I've tolerated it for 1 or 2 night stays. The big thing for me is HD picture quality and an array of good channels to watch. For some reason, depending on what part of the hotel you get assigned your experience will vary greatly. Not sure if they've addressed it but I've changed rooms because of it. Never used the pool since usually the time of year I'm down there it's too cold anyway.

The room was nice and clean though the beds where too hard for my comfort but with several amenities available like soap, tiny bottles of shampoo and conditioner that made up some of the difference. Parking was a bit crowded and the area was quiet and free of crime.Overall it was a great experience but overpriced for what it was.

I prearranged my stay using Best Western rewards for my first night and a rate of less $90/night for the next 2 nights. Access is slightly difficult due to the hotel is on a corner lot of 2 busy streets (Magnolia and Mission Gorge / Woodside.) the direction provided by the hotel's website are excellent. The staff is courteous, friendly, and helpful. There is a pool and spa but no fitness center. Room was clean and the bed comfortable.

got to the hotel early, only live a little more than an hour away. Got checked in and asked to hold our couple of bags which they graciously did. We returned some time later in the evening. The bags had been taken to the room and a Best Western snack bag had been left also. Two waters, ewo bags of chips and nut bars. Room is clean and comfortable. Nice decor, goods sized tv and a guide to the stations in the guest book, thank you.

My family and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The hotel looks nice from the outside however we were very disappointed with our stay over all. It seems the upkeep of the rooms are not being done as they should. Sink was loose and wobbly. After one use, the toilet clogged. A/C unit hadn't been cleaned as the air coming out of it smelled musty. There was several noticeable stains on the carpets. The beds were comfy but the pillow seemed old and very lumpy. In the morning I heard what I thought to be our shower dripping but to my horror it was the ceiling. Water was coming down from the light fixture. The light was on. I quickly turned it off so it wouldn't spark out. I had small children with us. I guess the people up stairs were taking a shower. All our towels got wet and the clothes I had in a bag on the floor were soaked. I called the Front desk to let them know and they took 4 hours to send someone. He showed up at 12:30pm while we were packing to leave. I told him to just forget and to take care of it once we checked out. Staffer John was very nice. I can't say the same for another staffer who calls himself "MO". He has a bit of an attitude and an unwillingness to be helpful. His answer for almost everything is "I don't know"...

I needed a hotel near my house for the night and again chose a Best Western; I am a new fan of Best Westerns because I keep having one good experience after another at each one wherever I am. I made a reservation using my BW Rewards number and got a great deal. Chris, at the front desk when I arrived, was welcoming and accommodating to my request for a second floor room in a quieter area of the hotel. The hotel grounds are immaculate and I love the old style pool in the courtyard set up. The have real flowers in pots on the rails - a beautiful touch unusual for a budget hotel. Their attention to detail is over-the-top! My room was very clean and very comfortable; please remember to leave a tip for your housekeeper. It was nice that there was an envelope in the room for this purpose. Finally, they include a nice breakfast that is just right to get going for the day. BTW, there is a donut shop and 7-11 next door for delicious snacks.

We were traveling through bad storms and had enough. Had never stayed here before. It will now be our go to stop when in the area. Nice clean rooms. Comfortable and nicely appointed. Very good breakfast with choice of eggs, sausage, waffles, potato cakes, cereal, fruits etc. very nice staff. Captains Quarters next store was great. Higher end restaurant but very good with friendly staff

We stopped here for the night while driving on i95. The front desk and all employees we encountered were very nice and helpful. The pool looked very nice. There is a restaurant across the parking lot that was very convenient and acceptably good. The room was a standard motel room with two large beds. The only problem was it smelled like an old motel room. We sprayed some cologne and that helped a bit; but the room needs new carpets, curtains, bedding and paint to address the root cause. It was nice to be able to park directly in front of the room.

I arrived early, around 12:30 pm, and the staff were very accommodating to allow me to check in to an available room early so that I could shower and freshen up after a long flight from Toronto, before meeting up with my wife and her friend. Parking was free and the free breakfast had a lot of great options like waffles from a waffle maker, sausage patties, scrambled eggs, etc. Rooms were clean and well maintained. The beds were comfortable. Since I booked this hotel as a package with my direct flights to and from Toronto combined with my car rental for 4 days, I do not know the exact rate, however, I can deduce that the hotel rate I got must have been very reasonable for the services I received. Just wanted to say San Diego and Santee are really beautiful locations. Just driving from the airport to this hotel in Santee was a treat in terms of scenery!

I called to check availability and Sam was busy with a guest at the desk and asked if he could call me back? Sure enough five minutes later he called and was very friendly and efficient, making our two-room reservation. Upon arrival he was still there and recognized my voice immediately and greeted me with a huge smile. His guest service is impeccable. Having been the CEO of large Resorts, I would be delighted if all or any of my team members behaved like Sam! The rooms are gorgeous, there's a pool and jacuzzi bordered by well maintained hanging flower pots to bring a very pretty look to a dreary downtown Santee street. The building is angled away from the road so the traffic noise is minimal. The rooms are modern and fresh and very comfortable. Free breakfast is also a delight, in a very clean, comfortable dining room. Cannot say enough about this cute BW. So if you have to be in Santee or Lakeside, and need to stay over, I HIGHLY encourage you to stay here!

Santee is nestled between Alpine on the east and Pacific Beach and La Jolla on the west. The natives settle there so as to hedge their bets between the brush fires and floods from the foothills and the earthquake-triggered tsunamis from the Pacific Ocean. It is the perfect location to gamble on their survival whatever slings and arrows of outrageous fortune they may face. Colliding asteroids are not considered, most unfortunately.

We stayed in the back section around the pool which was very quiet since no one is swimming this time of year. Front desk staff was very friendly, attentive, helpful and promptly addressed our non working TV when we returned to the room one night. Rooms were clean and well maintained and beds were very comfortable. Included Breakfast provided lots of good options: eggs, oatmeal, cold cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit and great coffee. This was a GREAT value for the money and we'd definitely stay again.

OK, we read all of the reviews and took a chance. Good news: Overall, this is a nice place to stay. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the place was quiet, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very basic, cereal and milk, inexpensive muffins or danish, oatmeal, coffee & juice, and, of course, make your own waffles. Overall, we will come back when we visit at Santee again. Easy access, although parking is a little tricky, a very small lot, but still a nice place if you are a Best Western visitor.

I was told there was a one time pet fee of $20.00 before making the reservation. When I arrived it was $20 per night (4 nights). Check-in time was delayed a full hour (4pm instead of 3pm). It is advertised as having a heated pool, it does not. About half of the jets on the spa work. Sausage for breakfast 4 days in a row. Manager would not make the pet fee right even after questioning the employee that said it, but could not remember, because regardless of what was said it was still hotel policy.

We do apologize for any inconvenience while your stay but as we discussed at check in, I am confident on my employee's knowledge about our pet policy. When you arrived before 3 pm, rooms were ready to check in but it was your decision to wait for ground floor room. We don't advertise that our swimming pool is heated but yes we do have a swimming pool and heated spa that your son used right after check in and he gave me the best compliments about it. I am the manager and I gave you additional discount at check in that you took very happily for your misunderstanding but it seems you rated us because you would not like to pay pet fee based on our policy. We do serve breakfast as per Best Western stranded, and your son's honest opinion was "it could not be better than this breakfast". Again we apologize because our customer is our priority but fairness matters as well.

I stayed from Dec. 21st to 28th, 2017 to visit my brother who lives nearby. Positive: 1) Good clean room, good Wi-Fi, flat-screen TV. 2) Small refrigerator and microwave in room. 3) Free breakfast 6AM to 9AM (I think all Best Western hotels offer this). 4) 24-hour convenience store (7-11) one block away within walking distance; 24-hour donut shop 1/2 block away. 5) Good Italian restaurant 2 blocks way (across the street). 6) Light rail station for San Diego MTS system (trolley) is less than a mile away. Negative: 1) Parking is free, but the parking area is small and cramped. 2) The hotel is on a busy street with tricky access if turning left. Four stars. No complaints.

The food was excellent the best of almost any best western hotel I have stayed at.the night clerk was very helpful by helping with our bags as we are all disableable. I will stay at this hotel in the future when I come to town. I wish the prices were a little better as we are far into being well into being seniors..

Reserved Hotel on Bring Fido web page. Cost was $90.00 and $9.90 tax. On arrival was charged additional $22.02 pet fee, they did not honor the 50% discount with Best Western rewards card. Total cost $121.00. This is NOT a $121.00 hotel. Breakfast omelet was cold and hard. Hotel room was not in the level I expect from a Best Western Hotel.

Clean room, however, maintenance needs to completely finish repairs and normal maintenance. Items like doorways, caulking around fixtures and areas where there is water. Need to complete seal baseboard in bathroom where I saw a roach poking in & out

BW Santee has great helpful professional staff along with very clean rooms. It is a great location to go anywhere in San Diego County. Breakfast is very good. Stay here whenever we visit the Santee, CA area.

Overall good experience. Very basic room, but it was clean! Bed was a tad bit too firm for me, but I like a soft bed! Breakfast was good, but no bacon. :-( Coffee at breakfast was not good at all, but I'm a coffee snob who like really strong coffee.

The hotel was adequate for a one night stay. The room had a musty smell upon entering room. Left door open for a short while to air out. Bathroom accommodation was a bit tight. The hotel is an older facility, therefore, I can understand. I was there for my granddaughter sport event. The hotel was a 5 minute drive to the athletic location.

This property was terrible and not a Best Western quality. If I were a Best Western I would sell this place. It was noisy from early in the morning until late at night. This particular property left me feeling and safe which made it very difficult to have a good nights sleep. Though the beds were clean, the carpet and over all room cleanliness was poor.

Great hotel. We arrived about 30 minutes before check in-time and they were very accommodating and friendly.Clean, comfortable, and great room. Continental breakfast was excellent and convenient with multiple hot food choice. Internet was superb.

There was no one manning the check in desk upon arrival and no obvious way to contact staff. I was given an uncleaned/possibly occupied room at first, before then being given a room that didn't match my reservation (reserved King, got 2xQueen). No WiFi, broken TV in room, and strange smell when running A/C.

This is our favorite Santee motel. Always welcoming staff, clean and well-maintained room, hearty breakfast. Easy access from highways and to recreation and businesses of Santee. Weeknight rates are perfectly reasonable. Weekend rates much higher. Plenty of food and convenience options within walking distance, as is one River Park.

The room was fine. It was clean and comfortable. It wasn't cleaned until later in the day so couldn't really come back to the hotel to take a nap. The only problem was it was right next to the pool so a little noisy. Much better than the other hotel in Santee.

This hotel is in a terrible location. We stayed there to be near family. The next trip I will stay further away to get a nicer place. These are a VERY basic accommodations at best. This is an old building with some lipstick on it, but it still shows its age.

Very friendly staff, manager was amazing and professional, had a noise complaint but staff went out of their way to be sure it was resolved immediately. Clean rooms, pool and hot tub were clean with no weird smells (yes I've had pools with weird smells at other hotels) breakfast was great with such a large selection of items. I'm very satisfied with my stay. On a plus side the hotel is very convenient to many stores restaurants and shopping.

Room was not new but clean. Front desk was helpful and got me registered quick. Area was safe and close to freeway. Parking was a little tight. All the stores and restaurants are close by, just about anything you need.

I had an excellent stay at your hotel in San Diego, CA. The staff provide excellent support. I would stay again in the future. I would recommend it again to others. The location was near a subway station and near a nice shopping center.

If your looking for a comfortable, affordable place to stay to the north end of San Diego the Santee Lodge will do the trick for you. Although no what you'd call close to the beaches it is within a couple blocks of the southern California freeway system and within a short time you can be anywhere you should want to go, depending on the traffic of course. Everything about this property is what you expect from a Best Western. For dining out, there is a rather nice Italian restaurant just across the street. It is a favorite of the locals and there was already a waiting list when I got there about 6 p m.

Painted wet furniture with no signs on it in the rooms. Pool closes at whatever time staff decides. And breakfast is like going to a carnival sideshow with guests acting terribly, mistreating the machines and cleaning out whole trays of eggs to take back to their rooms.

Was disappointed when I had bugs crawling on me ..... both beds had them. I was moved to another room, but then after being moved I was just scared to sleep back in the bed I just decided to check out.

Hotel is clean. It needs an update but I had a decent sleep - it was reasonably quiet and comfortable. Dog-friendly. Best option if you need to stay in Santee. There are definitely better options if you're willing to drive 10-15 minutes, but the location is fairly good with easy access to a Starbucks and dog park at Woodglen Vista Park.

Nothing specific for a one night stay, but it was clean free internet, and parking. Good coffee, and more than I expected for the continental breakfast. I would stay there again if I ever have too. Not to pricey even for a holiday weekend.

Convenient location, next to 7/11 and donut shop. Nice hotel with good complimentary breakfast. The waffles were delicious. Friendly staff who made check in and out a fast service. I plan on staying here again.

The staff was exemplary. The rooms were old, and in need of repairs. There were water stains on the roof of the room. If it were not for the location I would have found another room. This room was close to where I needed to conduct business. The staff was great. The rooms were slightly below average.

Overall, my experience was average. Wasn't too impressed but at the same time was not disappointed, with the exception of the smell of the room and one of the receptionist that did not look or acted friendly.

I could have stayed at a Motel 6 for half the price, but I wanted a more comfortable trip for my family. Unfortunately, the Best Western Santee Lodge was a basic and rough as any old, cheap (but the price was not cheap), dusty highway motel. The pool was dirty/green/small. The carpets were icky. The breakfast room was uncomfortably small--almost to the point of unusable. That being said, the staff was pleasant and I feel like they try their best with what they have.

ok, old carpeting, stains, in general worn & aged. Staff is nice. Rates are competitive. Meets bare minimum standards for us. Close to our family only reason we stayed there. In great for stores, restaurants.

Much better option in terms of location than the Roadway Inn down the street. It was clean, comfortable and exactly what you expect for a bargain hotel in Santee, ca. (Small town, no frills). Our room was non-smoking, but definitely had faint smoke-smell.

I mentioned details earlier. the room was fine but the remote for the TV was non responsive. I went to the front desk, they gave me a the one from the lobby, that remote also did not work. The following day after I checked out, spoke to the manager and he advised me that the hotel was experiencing a Cox issue. I asked why that should be my problem, he advised me that he would give me a discount on my next reservation. I called the next day for an additional reservation, he increased the room rate by twice as much.

Staff was outstanding & friendly, our room was comfortable & cool. Would have liked less noise at the pool but this is a smaller version of a Best Western. Rooms are VERY close to enclosed pool area. Overall, we had a pleasant stay & enjoyed all the amenities including free breakfast & wifi. We would return.

Had to wait for reception to return, check in took while, but person was professional and courteous so made up for it. In room there had been water damage, area had not been repainted. Breakfast was good, but no attendant and I actually ended up throwing other people's trash out. Other than the above, stay was nice.

The parking sucks and the building is old with new paint. The staff was nice and the area seemed to be ok. It is a little difficult to get in and out of the parking lot. Next time I'll drive a fee more miles to get the same room for $50 less a night.

Rates and exterior appearance fine. Rooms very dark. Noise from pre teens swimming until 10 pm. Clock light was flashing when I arrived. Took 15 mins to reset. One of outlets would not hold plug. Breakfast ok, but nothing special. Clerks were helpful

The staff was very friendly. Room wasn't ready upon being there at 3pm. Bed and mattress were extremely uncomfortable. Had a very loud hotel guest screaming for help at 2am. Had to call the cops (still not sure if anyone else did). Front desk didn't really handle this in any way or bring it up when we were checking out. Was a very scary experience, not sure how much the hotel could do to prevent it. Wish it was addressed differently.

If you're looking for a 5 star hotel This place adjust ain't it but the place was comfortable and clean and well maintained for the price it wasn't bad it included breakfast which I didn't care to get but it's there if you want it, all In all my stay was good can't complain and the lady at the check in counter was super friendly and nice!

Cleaned room very well better than many I have stayed at in the past. The staff very happy and there to help with anything needed.Nice appearance on the outside. The lobby could have been a little cleaner and so could the breakfast area with more options for breakfast but overall very happy to stay here again.

The Best Western Santee Lodge was clean and quiet. The bathroom had plenty of hot water, both in the sink and the shower. A complimentary breakfast was available; the earlier you got to the breakfast room the greater the choices, but even when getting there late there were still plenty of choices of a various of food items. The lobby has a complimentary computer and printer set up so printing airline boarding passes was quick and easy. I would stay at the Best Western Santee Lodge again and am happy to recommend it to other travelers.

I needed a one night stay in the Santee area. This hotel is pretty average, meaning it will be quite adequate for most needs. It is somewhat older but clean and well kept. It has outdoor corridors and the parking lot might be a challenge for very large vehicles or RVs. The bed was fine. Television channels were better than some hotels limited compared to others. Breakfast was typical of a Best Western. Service was polite. I would not hesitate to stay again if I had to travel in the area.

TV only received one channel. No discount offered. Breakfast mediocre. It would be nice to have had a variety of hot food items and seasonal fresh fruit. Outside appearance very nice but rooms dingy with only table lamps.

Not too bad rooms were pretty big a little bit pricey because they do allow animals but the room smell like they allow animals but other than that it wasn't too bad there is a pool in the middle of the property and lots of free parking and the owner seemed very nice

Occupied two rooms, my sister and I, and my mom separate... excellent room.. with very comfortable mattress, excellent water pressure, shower and tub, great shampoo and body gel in dispenser in the tub enclosure. Sister and mom experience the quick breakfast... I waited... but enjoy the in room coffee... arrangement... ... I also enjoyed the pool and hot tub... close admenties... like 7-11... liquor store.. Walgreens is closed... close to attractions.... We were visiting local relatives.... visited Phil's BBQ ..yummmy.... and reasonable... I hop ... excellent with kids...... Mary Donuts... loved the area.. plus PostalAnnex, for mailing our buying goods home.... Veija Casino off hwy 8 excellent buffet...yumm and shopping discount stores across street...

We stayed here in November of 2016 for two weeks and now in March 2017 for 12 nights. Staff is great and very accommodating. Breakfast is very good and great coffee! Rooms are large and comfortable. The nicest and most economical hotel in Santee, CA. Very conveniently located, as well. We look forward to future stays.

Our house was tented for termites and we needed to stay away 2 nights. I checked out another nearby motel according to its nightly rate, but after reading Tripadvisor, decided against it, too many bad reviews. I decided on Best Western. I have never been disappointed. The Manager was professionally attired, answered all my questions, made sure our room was ready. The room was immaculate, seemed to be recently painted, but not sure. Bathroom area was spotlessly clean. The towels were soft and plush. Bedding nicely done, bed comfy. There are a lot of restaurants nearby, close to freeways and shopping and hiking trails along the San Diego River. The grounds are nicely kept. There is a pool and hot tub and vending machines. Our room was across from the pool, but never heard noise. Continental breakfast was off the Lobby. The usual offerings, waffles, bagels, toast, cereal, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, juices. No scrambled eggs or sausage or meats, but there was plenty to chose from. I can't remember all the offerings. Enough tables and chairs and TV. Big parking lot, plenty of spaces. Wifi in the room was good, also had fridge and microwave.

Our house was tented for termites and we needed a place to stay for 2 nights. I decided on Best Western because I can trust that my stay will be comfortable, safe, with great breakfast and wifi. Room appeared to be newly painted, great bedding, clean bathroom, soft bath towels, hot water. Quite location, convenient to restaurants, shopping.

For the choices of hotels in the area I was impressed that this Best Western was run with professionalism which contributed to knowing I made the right decision in choosing Best Western. It was perfect for our needs of meeting with family living in the area. The staff was very cordial and attentive to our needs. I would stay here again in the future if needed. The continental breakfast had plenty of choices and more than what some of the other hotels offer. All in all we were pleased.

Overall, this place was OK. Room looked like it was redone, but be aware there is no elevator to the second floor. The floor in the bathroom was pretty dirty -- we left a towel on the floor as a rug. Breakfast was fine -- lots of choices. Not sure I'd stay here again due to noise issues but it was OK for one night.

Very clean hotel, convenient location, friendly staff!! Even enjoyed their wonderful breakfast with build-your-own oatmeal options, waffles, yogurt, etc! Nice place. I had a comfortable room and it was immaculate, great TV and Internet, hot shower, modern room. Great job!

Hotel was clean and well taken care of. With 2 queen beds in the room it was a little crowded, but that was OK because we were visiting friends in the area and not spending much time in our room. A continental breakfast was available, but we chose to have breakfast at a restaurant, The hotel was appropriate for out needs and we would return if we are in the area.

Clean, well-kept hotel. Friendly staff, bathrooms updated and fresh. Newer tile, great neutrel colors, nice television. Great shower! Nice lobby. Breakfast waffles were wonderful, coffee tasty too! Easy to find, right on a main street.

I read positive & negatives. My take is, that I would stay here again. The room looks redone. TV has a lot of channels. Toiletries sufficient. Bed is comfortable. Quiet at night. The only suck was, a decent free breakfast wasn't ready until 8 AM----we were there to judge a horseshow---Show starts at 8 AM--the breakfast room was busy, on a Sunday @ 6 AM---still , in all, staff very polite----

The lodge is good for reasonable price. Rooms are clean, comfortable and good. The breakfast was good. with enough foods to have a breakfast. Had some good options like sausage, eggs, waffles, yogurt and fruits. Free WiFi, free parking which is really nice. The staff were good on serving and helping us.

We have to go to San Diego often, as my mother is in a convalescent home. We always stay at Best Westerns, and have had excellent experiences, so much so that this time we invited friends to join us. We stayed at Santee Lodge for the first time. When we arrived early, John was very good and checked in our friends early. Our room was not ready, however, John said it would be ready in 10 minutes if we wanted to wait. We decided to go visit my mother first, and so he checked us in and said that we could just pick up the key upon our return. We left and came back around 4PM, (check in is at 3PM) fully expecting to pick up the key and plop down on the bed, as we were exhausted both physically and emotionally. The room was still not ready, and a new guy was behind the counter. Instead of calmly checking on the room to see what was the holdup, he began to verbally attack John, and then us. When we asked for another room that was ready, he wanted to put us in the middle of rooms that had animals, and the room he wanted to give us had previously housed an animal. (It is a pet friendly hotel, and all the ground floor allows pets). Both of us have allergies, so that was not a solution. At the end of it all, the room needed a bedspread and then it would be ready. No need for the drama at all. The guy threw our key down on the counter, and when I went to open the room, it had not been activated. Once activated, he threw it again on the counter at me. He actually told us to get out of his lobby,and get lost! The next day, we went out for the day, and on our return, we found we had been locked out of our room. So we had to go back and deal with the same guy. The owner came out to make sure things remained calm. (We had reported the incident to him earlier). If there had not been mitigating circumstances, ie our friends were well situated in their room, my brother had taken the day off work to spend with us, etc. we would have left the first day. But we stuck it out, kinda hoping for at least an apology from the offending party, but there was only tension. We DEFINITELY felt that we were not welcome. The owner felt that the situation was tension between co-workers, but the fact is that we were treated horribly as guests, and instead of relaxing at the hotel, we felt constant tension, and again, no apology from the guy or compensation for us. The hotel itself is ok, the rooms are clean and kept up nicely. If they realize that being in the hospitality business means to be hospitable to strangers, they would get much better ratings from us.

Although the hotel was clean and the staff was friendly, the manager overcharged us, refused to work with us over a mistake BW made in reservations. Because of his attitude and his unwillingness to work with us we will NEVER stay at this Lodge again and I recommend others to steer clear. He also tried to sneak in a charge for a service dog for two rooms at an additional cost of $160. Manager Peter Ko was uncooperative, arrogant and unfriendly. Not a good start to a family vacation.

...but I was generally pretty miserable at this hotel, which is really a motel. I have tried to assess why, and I can tell you that it started with my first interaction with the owner. I had been travelling for 10 hours by the time I arrived and I was greeted by him with a severe scowl because I arrived before check-in (it was 3 pm 'my time', but noon there). The woman behind the counter with him was lovely and just quickly looked for available rooms and found one, while he continued to scowl. Not. Too. Welcoming. Didn't need that. I was supposed to have a 'suite' but I got a table and 2 chairs crammed next to the beds. The room was clean (1 star), the breakfast buffet was adequate (1 star), but my colleague and I were convinced that there were people living there full time, and confirmed it by passing a room with the door open, and a hospital bed within. Our work location was very close by and I'm not sure what other hotels are in Santee, but I shudder at the though that this rated the #1 hotel there. Yikes. Epilogue: The owner must have been having a bad day that first day because he tried very hard to be professional after that, but the tone had already been set. Also, KUDOS to those who took the photos for this place...you would have no idea it is crammed in between 2 other businesses on a busy boulevard.

The staff was wonderful and very accommodating. I needed to be on the first floor due to an injury, the employee on duty made sure that my need was met and offered me assistance - I was really impressed by the willingness of staff to ensure my stay was enjoyable. I will be back, nice room, reasonable price, close to where I needed to be!

Read your registration before you sign upon check in. They say they are not responsible for lost or stolen items, my son's iPad was fine when we left the room upon coming back after housekeeping the entire screen was shattered. I took it to the office and asked for them to replace the screen or comp a night which fixing the screen would be cheaper. The owner still refuses to accept responsibility. Shady people. My son's iPad was in his suitcase hidden, don't understand how it could've shattered when we weren't even there and they don't want to take responsibility to fix it.

This hotel was a great value! I stayed here for San Diego Comic Con because it was way more affordable than any of the hotels near the Convention Center in downtown and Mission Valley. The breakfast was good and offered a lot of different options. The lobby, rooms, and complex were all nice. The only thing I didn't like was the mattresses; they were kind if springy. But I would definitely stay at this hotel again! I also enjoyed the free parking and free WiFi.

Our stay was wonderful. The staff from the front desk to the maintenance staff were wonderful! The room was immaculate and comfortable. The location was perfect - family lives nearby. Centrally located to many amenities. The team was helpful and professional. I would absolutely stay again!

Unfriendly staff, musty rooms, dirty pool, and foot traffic all night from hookers! Never stay here again. Expensive for what they give you. Dark rooms and I found rather depressing. Parking pretty tight. At a very noisy intersection. Try The Rose Inn. Better value and quiet.

Our stay at Best Western Santee was an overnight stay. We attended a family wedding in La Jolla, CA and this was the closest availability. This hotel was well kept and the room was comfortable.It was a place to sleep. The hotel is not where we would normally stay, but I would stay again if my first choices were not available.

The rooms look like they are from the 1980's. No extra wall outlets to charge a phone and laptop. The microwave was broken as well as the coffee maker. Without a door to the bathroom sink, every time it is used, the light bothers a person sleeping. No DVD player with the TV. If you are in a pinch, and there is nothing else, this place is ok to just sleep.

We stayed here as a stop over on our trip from NY to Florida. Check in was very quick and smooth, price was good $87 for the night. The hotel is set up like old fashion motel style. You park your car right outside your door, which I think is great. The room was very neat and clean and had everything you need in it. The bed was comfortable, they could use new pillows. In the morning we had breakfast before we left. Breakfast was the usual complimentary, scrambled eggs, sausage, pastries, waffles to make yourself, yogurt, oatmeal, grits, some fruit, juice and coffee. I would definitely recommend this hotel and I would stay again if my travels takes me in this direction.

They were super rude to me and made me feel VERY unwelcome. I don't recommend this place at all! I was only staying for one day and they made it clear they didn't want my business. Yes it was very inexpensive but for a female being alone I did not feel safe or welcome there.

It's not the best motel, but if you're in Santee this property has good parking, is decently maintained, offers a nice free breakfast and clean pool. It's not kept as well as the Wynn or Venetian but you're in Santee paying a decent rate for a safe, clean place to stay with nice amenities. Owners/operators are somewhat awkward but they seem to be immigrants from another country- not a deal breaker, just be aware.

If you have stayed in El Cajon, Santee, or Lakeside you'll know that there is not much to choose from. Most hotels are old, musty, and not that well cleaned. The BW Santee lodge was cleaner and fresher. We got a suite rather than the regular king bed room. It was clean and quiet. The price was fine. The breakfast was good. The hot part was cup of soup and individually wrapped burritos and they also had the full complement of bagels, bread, pastrys, cereals. No parking for oversized vehicles as the parking lot is small and uneven. I found the pillows hard and they gave me a shoulder ache but that's just me. I prefer places that give a selection as I like soft pillows. They have an 11 am check out and they mean it.

Room was clean and quiet. The queen beds were made with fresh linens and they were very comfortable. Our room was across from the pool but we heard no noise from the pool equipment. Coffee served with the breakfast is excellent quality; breakfast items were fresh and plentiful. Quick service on check-in and check-out. Easy access to stores and restaurants nearby.

Electrical outlets, especially near the desk need replacement. They do not hold plugs inserted in them. The shower faucet is hard to pull out, is not secured to wall properly and therefore comes out of the wall. The coffee took a turn for the worse since last staying at this hotel.

We stayed here one night for business and it was everything the other reviews said it was. Very clean rooms but short on amenities and nice touches. One of our night stands was just missing and the cabinet under the sink was broken off. Nothing we couldn't live without just glad we didn't pay top dollar for it. Price was right and bed was comfy. Lots of traffic noise early in the morning. We slept in room 102 second floor and started hearing trucks at around 5:30 or earlier so good thing we had to get up early to go to a job. Be warned about the noise but the bed was very comfy. Also -They have soap/ shampoo "dispensers" in the shower which suck because I take baths and they were not easy to reach. Great for business but I wouldn't go there for vacation. I would opt for the Barona Casino next time!

We needed to be at the San Diego Christian College and this motor lodge was 4 min away. The neighborhood is definitely seedy (lots of bail bonds places), but the motor lodge is well-run and extremely clean.

We were visiting with friends as well as having some business to conduct and found this hotel provided easy access to freeways, restaurants, shopping, etc. The staff was wonderful, and we enjoyed our 6 night stay. The breakfast was good and refilled often. The complimentary computer/printer availability was very helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the small table was especially useful. It was an enjoyable stay!

This is a very well kept hotel,The staff is very well trained and has everything they need to help you,and make your stay the best they can.The hotel is right in a good location for the Santee and Lakeside area. I Personally thank all hotel rates are way to high just for a bed and shower,and a waffle.But it beats towing your RV, Just for a nights stay.

There aren't many options in Santee for over night lodging. Our son and his family have moved there and we wanted to be close by. This was a convenient location to them and to local shops and restaurants. It is also one of the cheaper option that we feel comfortable staying in. There was nothing special about this place but it was clean. Rooms were a decent size and included a small fridge and microwave. The breakfast was very basic but adequate for a 2-3 night stay. We were there Saturday-Monday nights. We stayed on 2nd floor because that floor is pet and smoke free. However, no elevator. So be aware of that. The desk clerk and maids spoke limited English. We did not have a problem with the room but did have trouble communicating with them even to get extra towels, etc. I was thankful that there were no major issues. We would stay here again.

The hotel room was pretty standard for a Best Western, but with a pretty small bathroom. The pool was not heated and was too cold to use. The breakfast was pretty standard, but they did have a waffle maker, which was nice. The bed was also too soft for me, so I had to sleep on the floor (I have a bad back).

My family traveled for a weekend race I had in a close by regional park and this hotel was one of the few options close by. We were pleasantly surprised by the comfort of our room, the quality of breakfast in the morning and how convenient it was for us on this trip. Get pick for our needs!

Our guest room was very comfortable - spacious, clean, and well maintained. But the hotel is very loud overall. Thin walls mean you can hear everything going on next door, and exterior hallways make for lots of noise from the road and parking lot. It's also pet friendly, so you may have barking dogs. The breakfast was bare bones and there is no fitness center. Given that there aren't many other choices in the area, this is probably the best, but next time we'll stay a little further away for nicer accommodations at almost the same price.

This hotel was extremely clean with convenience of restaurants and other needed services close by within walking distance. Utilized the laundry services and hot tub (too cold for pool although in excellent condition). The breakfast was excellent with lots of variety. Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Would recommend to others.

This is a very clean and very comfortable hotel. It is easily accessible to the highway, shopping, El Cajon and Lakeside, and to one of our favorite restaurants- Jimmy's. While most of their rooms are not huge, they are quite adequate. The housekeepers are great, the beds are very comfy, and the free breakfast is outstanding. All of the food is always very fresh. I have stayed here three times and will definitely be back. The owners are exceptionally nice people.

This is an excellent motel -- Clean, Comfortable, Priced right; staff is friendly and helpful. We made a mistake when we booked and only booked one night -- the staff not only set us up for a second night, they kept us in the same room so we didn't have to move our things. We plan on making the Santee Lodge our go to motel for stays in the San Diego area.

This hotel met our needs, good location and nicely maintained. If you are staying in Santee this is a good choice. Close to dining, freeway, etc. For all the choices in Santee this is a good one to chose.

This motel offers very friendly service, and the rooms are well-equipped and very clean. Their breakfast are offers a wide variety of choices for breakfast, and is always kept well stocked. Their internet service in the rooms is very good, and allowed for streaming.

It is a very comfortable place to stay, my niece is a couple miles away and this is very convent, we have always used this hotel since we have been visiting my niece in Santee.. The hotel is always busy because of the convent location, the price and the condition of the hotel, along with serving a contaninetal breakfast, you can't beat the price for all of this. I will use this the next time also.

enjoyed my overnight stay here. Staff was very friendly, room was clean. it was very easy to find and near lots of food places. I would definitely stay here again. I was able to bring my dog with me as it is a dog-friendly establishment.

Cleanliness was an issue, debris under/around base of bed. Two worms in bathroom. Plug on the nightstand work didn't work. No bath mat, we had to ask and insist. The mgr. wanted us to use our towels, but those can be slippery on tile. AC "high" cool light not working. We were told the unit only cools on high. We left the room for several hours on low, when returning, it was stale and muggy. Someone should have mentioned it... Breakfast ok, fresh yogurt, fruit, 3 cereal choices, juice watered down, waffle maker, cold milk, syrup, pastries, muffins, toast, hot coffee, bagels. That area very clean and well stocked.

I stated on my (online) reservation that I had difficulty walking and that I'm handicapped. They assigned me to a room upstairs with no elevator. After I found out where the room was located and told them that I had stated my disabilities on the online reservation, they switched me to a room on the ground level but it had two queen beds instead of the king bed I had reserved. Also, the TV guide in the book listed channels that were not on the TV and the ice machine was not located where it was depicted on the map. I am reluctant to book at this hotel even though I own a rental in this town and sometimes need to visit.
