Due to my line of work I am always in San Antonio. I've tried many other hotels in the past but none compare to SureStay San Antonio North. I come here every time I need to stay in San Antonio. My experience is always pleasurable with no complaints what so ever. The entire staff is incredible! Trust me, you will not be disappointed.
I stayed there for a business trip and found the staff friendly and the rooms clean and comfortable. The breakfast that was offered was good and promptly started at 6a.m which work with my work schedule. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends.
our second time staying here. staff is very welcoming and caring. clean comfortable beds. out door pool was fun for our kids. free hot breakfast which is a plus with this inflation when you are traveling with family. we always enjoy our stay and we will be definitely be back.
This hotel needs to be looked at more I thought it was run by best western Best western doesn't have this kind of bad smell in all hotel
Facilities were adequate but everything was run down. It seemed like minimal attention is paid to presenting a pleasant place to stay. Garbage can in unattended breakfast area was overflowing before breakfast even started. Just definitely was not the service and facility Ive come to expect from Best Western. Probably won't choose a SureStay again.
The outside of the building has an impressive look, except for the buildings next to it. And that there is nothing around, except the freeway. Step inside to a smelly dark lobby and check in desk. The girl behind the desk took so long to find our reservation. Something we were sorry we made! But it was too late to cancel it. She then asked for a $50 deposit. This was the third Best western hotel we stayed at during our 10 day trip around Texas, and the first time it asked of us. There was no elevator to our second floor room. The hallway must have been just washed, but reeked of wet carpet. The room was okay, but very well used. Clean enough, but we refused to sit on the sofa. That looked dirty. All night the toilet ran every 20 minutes, I know I timed it. Could explain why there was no hot water in the sink taps. Neither of us felt comfortable enough to shower in the morning. First time that happened in all our years of travelling, yuck. The breakfast consisted of greasy under cooked sausages and scrambled eggs. No variety of bread to toast. Cold cereal and instant oatmeal. A bowl of over ripe soft apples! The worst breakfast at a Best Western hotel. Even the seating area was dismal. When checking out, the same girl was behind the desk again. Maybe she lives there? We insisted that she go check our room right then, so that we could get our deposit off our bill. We didn't want to wait and then see it on our credit card statement when we got home. We agree with other reviews, how can this hotel be under the Best Western name? Do they not have a standard that we expect from that chain. Maybe they need to check honest reviews from seasoned travellers!
No hot water in shower (but it was there for the sink). Toilet was clogged. Sink had long whiskers present from shaving from a previous guest. My room had a great view of the stairwell. There seems to be a common theme for these types of hotels where the hotel owner is looking to save every penny, so the place isn't well kept up or well cleaned.
Dirty room. Only serviced once and the cleaning person took our personal towel and took me 3 days of constant nagging to get it back, Loud. Pot smoking in rooms. Homeless people sleeping in broken down trucks outside room. Semi truck running all night, parallel parked in the guest parking spaces running the in cab generator with the exhaust next to my AC. Every time it turned on, the carbon monoxide came into our room and hotel. When asked guest services to take care of this, was given attitude. Could not eat breakfast as there were no healthy options, just cheap vending machine food and dried cereals full of sugar.
Everything was great. Rooms were clean. Comfortable beds. Free hot breakfast which was good. Not many hotel offers breakfast any more it was convenient. Friendly staff. Gave us extra blanket and pillow for the kids. Answered all of our questions. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
It should be an embarrassment to Best Western to have brought such a substandard brand under their umbrella. For years BW has been working to reposition themselves as a quality mid-range provider. Back to square one folks. The floor in the room I had was FILTHY. Walking in bare feet for 5 minutes were enough to turn the bottoms of my feet black. After washing my feet in hot soapy water, I wore my shoes the remainder of the time I was there The front desk staff should never be allowed to occupy customer facing positions. Overall, not an experience I will ever repeat and because of this I will warn away anyone who will listen not to make a similar booking mistake.
Booked reservation here because our apartment was not ready. Only was going to stay 1 night but ended up staying 2 nights. Very nice hotel. We had comfortable stay. Our kids enjoyed outdoor pool. Friendly front desk.
Ugly bad terrible awful dirty bad customer service Dirty sheets were never change dirty pool open glass beer by pool over f48hours terrible breakfast and ugliest customer service igot proof if needed.
The place is simple but clean, has protein options at breakfast, but the staff was uncaring in their approach to customer concerns. I have a pretty good white room though with a good circuit machine and a pretty good pool.
The staff was nice, friendly, and professional. My room was very clean. They also offer a small breakfast. I only stayed 1 night and the manager was prompt with checking my room and returning my $100 deposit. I will definingly be returning to stay at this location in the future.
The hotel was well located for your trio to San Antonio Texas, I think price is according to the value. We had a nice rest and sleep. Probably the hotel can have more staff who speaks Spanish or more willing to try.
The hotel was recently purchased by the Best Western group, this was obvious. Renovations were completed to upgrade the hotel to Best Western standards. Would I put the Best Western PLUS on the title. Probably not, but the hotel was satisfactory for my needs. I am not too picky. The internet worked very well. I have a FireTV stick and all of my applications worked correctly, which means the internet bandwidth and speed were sufficient to run the Amazon Fire TV. That was a plus. The bed as super comfortable and the 4 pillows were nice. I am a 3 pillow guy at least and I was very happy that the bed and pillow situation were good. The room was renevated also, I like a refrigerator and microwave, both were new and were in perfect working order. The breakfast was a bit lame, only the basics, but with a good coffee making!
=When we stayed in May 2022, we noticed the bathroom sink was not working and they did not fix it. We had to use the shower and it clogged very soon. Horrible experience. They said it would be fixed next day but we were leaving next day.
everything was great. frindly staff. clean rooms. bed was very comfortable. they had full breakfast everyday. loved their outside pool. right off the freeway. we will definitely be back and do recommend
Upon check-in found hair in sink, and shower head was broken, and mold under caulk at the base of the shower. Also found a greasy substance on nightstand. It was a late check with an early rise so decided to stay put. Upon check-out the following morning I informed the desk agent of the findings. I was told to call the manager later in the day. Upon speaking to the manager I was provided multiple excuses as to why the room was in the condition that it was. According to him the room was unkept because of short staff. I proceeded to tell him if he can't manage the hotel adequately close the fuc*king hotel. Instead they continue to issue rooms that are filthy and unacceptable to paying customers. My commitment...post as many negative reviews as possible to make prospective customers aware of the lack of quality service as possible. I definitely would not recommend!!!
a great value for the accommodations and they are offering a real breakfast with eggs and meat along with all the normal carbs. room, bathroom, and beds were clean and the beds comfortable enough for a good night's sleep. I'd stay here again.
The location was good, breakfast was delicious, it was a quiet stay, the price was very reasonable. I was completely satisfied with Surestay and I will return and I highly recommend this hotel to others.
very nice clean hotel. outside looks old but inside is renovated. our room was big clean and specious. front desk was very accommodating . hot breakfast in the morning. we felt safe. very quite. defiantly worth the money.
The overall stay at the hotel was good. I was literally only there at night to sleep and that's it. The issues of concern were that the hallways had a strong smell of weed. I'm not sure if someone was smoking or if the carpets need to be replaced. Getting to my room, the bathroom had a strong smell of urine. The bed was pretty hard, you could feel the springs, and if I moved to the other side I was in a hole, and the pillows are quite small. Also, the towels had a lot of stains on them. Other than that, the stay was good, for the price you pay it's good value for your money. Internet was good, shower pressure was great.
it was a pleasant stay. nice quite hotel. budget friendly cant complain for the price we paid. nice decent clean rooms beds were very comfortable. we had the pool by our self kids enjoyed . right off of freeway easy in and out. friendly staff. everything was great
This property is inexpensive, but it's because it is very outdated, ugly inside and out, and needs major renovation. The beds were old and very soft, too. It was clean, though, and the front desk staff were courteous..
rooms are really clean beds were really comfortable. front desk was very friendly and accommodating. stayed at this location for 5 nights. very peaceful stay. EVERYTHING WAS GREAT. for the price we paid one of the best hotel we stayed at.
This hotel is inexpensive. But you get what you pay for…which isn't much. There is little-to-no soundproofing between rooms, so if you're on the first floor, it sounds like a herd of elephants is above you. There is no housekeeping service provided during a stay; however they will let you get fresh towels. The bath towels are about the size of giant hand towels. A $100 security deposit is required at check-in and you get it back five days later if you don't trash the room. Be sure to take pics of any damage your room already has so you won't be charged. (Ours had a badly damaged bathroom door.) Beware of the cockroaches too. I'd recommend paying a little more to have a more pleasant stay in the SA area.
I've stayed in many Best Western and by far this one is the worst. As soon as you walk in you smell a horrible odor that smells throughout the whole building. Check in took 15 minutes and another 15 at check out. They require a $100 deposit which is more than the rate. The room was ok, tv gave issues and the remote didn't even work. Bed was uncomfortable and pillows are flat with no cushion. Barely got any sleep due to the people upstairs being loud all night. Breakfast is some overcooked egg and sausage with bread. Hotel for sure needs a lot of work done. Spend the extra bucks and stay somewhere nicer.
late night stop just to get sleep from long 16 hours drive. great customer service. the guy at the front desk was very helpful. big parking lot. bed was very comfortable. very quite. was able to fully rest for my long drive again. hot breakfast in the morning. we be back for sure.
Rooms are clean, but signage says no housekeeping on daily basis. Rooms are clean and large, laminate flooring, comfortable bed. Biggest issue is with staff knowledge or lack thereof. I had a best western gift card which apparently makes check in almost impossible to do in under 20 minutes. When we finally did get checked in, and key cards received the key cards didn't work. So back to front desk stand in line again and get ones that do work. Room decent, clean. Water in shower dripped all night. Shower curtain refused to stay closed on both ends so floor flooded while showering. Breakfast of soggy scrambled eggs and weird colored sausage links. Muffins small enough to liters be one bite and done. Walls paper thin so sounds heard all night from other rooms above and beside us. Check out was yet another 15 minutes of lobby waiting for someone/ anyone to appear so we could check out. Lastly there is $100 deposit for a $60 room. Which according to the signage you get returned to you in 5-7 business days. Really? A hold I understand. But the room itself is cheaper than the deposit??? Overall not a great experience for a best western diamond member. Can't recommend this hotel, and will not be returning here again.
Out of the blue I found myself in San Antonio, Texas. Wanting quick access to I35 I picked this hotel, at first I was a little weary about some of the older comments and ratings. Glad to find out they've stepped up their game. John and Cheyenne behind the front desk were greatly accommodating. Friendly and warm atmosphere with great low prices. Would recommend and definitely be back.
Toilet handle falling apart, shower leak, over all horrible experience a d dirty should've read the reviews for here I see I'm not the only one with the similar reviews not worth staying. Unprofessional, from cleaning Lady. We travel and are exhausted to come in into the broken room. I Will never stayed here. Started off wrong ended really wrong.
everything was great. the rooms were clean nice and big. comfortable beds. friendly staff. nice outdoor pool. everything was awesome. check in was quick. hot breakfast was offered. it was a great experience
Linens only changed once during 4 night stay. Toiletries and toilet paper never replenished. I had to get toilet paper from front desk. Creamer and sweetener for coffee only provided on weekend. No closet or even a bar to hang clothes in room.
The hotel was very clean, pool was clean, the room was very clean. Didn't have issues with anything in the room and staff was very fast and efficient. Definitely will recommend it and will return and use them again.
we had an awesome stay. we were in san Antonio for a quick trip an d found this place. we enjoyed our stay. the staff was friendly and helpful. she was very welcoming. rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. next time when we come back we know where to stay. defiantly recommend this place.
it was a nice stay. not too busy hotel we had the pool by our self. clean rooms, bed was comfortable. friendly staff told us about the attractions near the hotel. big parking lot so no . non smoking rooms which we needed for y wife's allergy. overall good visit. will be back.
I regret trying to save money on this business trip. I stayed for 5 days at this hotel and my room was cleaned only once. I had to move furniture around to access plug points for coffee maker and laptop. No coffee in lobby (I assumed since this was a "Plus" hotel) and brown bag breakfast each day. Inside of hotel was generally clean (a lot of trash on the outside though) but linoleum type floors made it feel like a dormitory. Very industrial area and a majority of folks staying here are contractor tradesmen.
This hotel is so friendly and very clean! My kids loved swimming in their outdoor pool. Rooms are very spacious. I was very surprised by the grab and go breakfast my first morning, there was so many items in the bag. My second morning they had a hot breakfast. I will definitely stay here again
One wash cloth for two women in room. electric outlet in washroom would not work. grab and go breakfast was 6-8:00, got down there at 8:15 and they had already picked everything up and did not even apologize, simply said "sorry" in a very sarcastic tone. They probably had a couple left over but never offered. I also asked for a cup of coffee and was told they didn't have any and you had to use the coffee maker in your room, again a sarcastic voice. (I have heard horror stories about room coffee makers and would not even think about using one) I have stayed at several Best Western hotels in the past two months and they have opened up their full breakfast already. I do not recommend this hotel unless you ONLY want a bed for the night and NOTHING more.
very nice hotel . front desk was very helpful when a kid was screaming next-door to us at 2 o'clock in the morning. front desk called the room and resolved the issue. was very happy with the service. especially because i have a special need child and i didn't wanted her to wake up. nice clean room. will be back
it was a very nice hotel compare to the hotel we had to stay yesterday. nice big clean room. check in was easy and quick. staff was friendly. my family enjoyed their stay. right off the freeway. we will surely be back.
i was hesitant to book looking at the other reviews but we had an amazing stay. i guess you just have to experience it yourself. front desks were amazing and helpful. nice renovated place. now we know where to come for our next trip.
Had children visit from chicago area. No problems at all. Staff was helpful and younger kids enjoyed the pool. The fridge and microwaves were a convenience for our family. The rooms were next to each other.
Came to san antonio for spring break. it was a great experience. we enjoyed our stay great location not too far from downtown and airport which was convenient. friendly helpful staff. clean rooms. this was our first time staying at this hotel but will definitely stay here next time.
I rented a room for a one week stay, but I decided to keep extending my stay, because the hotel is great and they had exactly what I needed in a disabled room. But above all, what made my stay great was the staff. They helped me so much and were more than accommodating. They have also done a lot of remodeling and upgrades to the hotel since last I stayed, years ago. It's a great place to stay. I hate to write reviews for places but this place really impressed me. I will definitely be back.
place looked really nice. renovated room. rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. professional and helpful staff. great price point. far better then hotels around. we will definitely stay again next opportunity. i recommend this hotel highly.
Never stay here unless you want a marijuana and other drug filled hotel with loud music and no elevator. No smoking signs everywhere and the smell of pot was so strong it made my eyes water. I have no clue how these people are in business. Terrible “customer service”. Man on his phone in online class had no idea what he was doing. By the time we left I was in tears. DONT stay here.
we had to stay here because we had lost power and water during the winter storm. we felt safe and comfortable. staff members were very professional and friendly. beds were comfortable. nice clean room. we are thankful that we were able to stay comfortably during this bad weather.
this hotel provides excellent customer service during the difficult time hotel had pipe broken and they had to turn off the water. Management had tried every possible thing to make the guest happy. my wife and i are very happy with service. hotel did not have water due to weather condition but rooms had heat and electricity. very happy. we will definitely return
I have stayed here twice since i have my family in san antonio. To go bags for breakfast but had 5 items in it. front desk clerk were always polite and professional. room was clean and had sofa bed in it which was nice for my 5 year old. we will return for sure. we have decided to stay here for our next stay for sure.
i was here for business trip. this hotel is really nice. friendly and helpful staff. to go bag for breakfast had breakfast taco in it along with orange juice and fruit. if you want peaceful sleep and you are tried from driving. this is a place. enjoyed my stay
quick check in check out. friendly and helpful staff. rooms very clean and quite. hand sanitizers were available at check in and by all the door. to go bags wee available for breakfast. i will be back and i do recommend this place.
Undercooked food at bkfst. Smelly dirty mop bucket left overnight in hallway. Dirty sheet on bed with blood stain on it. One room looked like it was vf inder construction with wood chip al lm over hallway guest room doorway. Dark lighting in room. Not enough electrical sockets in room.
Its unfortunate that they have amanda as an "employee" because the hotel is a rather nice. This amanda is the most miserable person Ive ever come across. Stop being a miserable person and be grateful someone actually hired you!
1st Room checked one to was dirty- looked like possibly started to strip bedding- second room had bed bugs crawl in my son while laying down- sent video of infestation of bugs crawling and markings on box spring under bed skirt
amanda should be fired! I know its hard to care at a minimum wage job but don't be in customer service if you know you are a rude person. Miserable people have no business being in customer service. Management at this location needs to do better at hiring. I guarantee amanda was only hired because they were desperate.
I rated this a 3 everybody is nice the place is clean but this is the noises place I have stayed the wall are thin and if you have someone above you in room forget about sleep one night the guy walk back and forth too midnight the he left came back 30 minute came back later and started over finally went to bed got up at 4 am and started again then the next night drums played at the soccer field just south west of hotel til around 1030 pm heard one couple screaming at each other so if you want to sleep go some place else I'll spend more money next time.
Was a very nice clean room although a few things could be fixed. the remote could be better and more channels, floors seemed kinda sticky, but overall was great! Had a cold mini fridge and a nice working microwave too. Lots of space as well which is a plus! Sheets were stained when we got there which was eh but oh well.
Very confrontational.just accused instead of asking ..gng on a complaint from a old lady who is miserable. She came n lounded on room door lik she was the police. N stood in door with foot holding door
Overall great stay and value. I was pleased to see this hotel added to the Best Western chain. Really the only thing that would have made the stay better was location, and better thought for coffee sweeteners. They only offer sugar and sweet n low. I think it would be worth it to add other sweetener options to the buffet variety. As a traveler, all I wanted was a good cup of the coffee I was offered with my choice of Splenda and cream. Other than that, I would come back every time I frequent the area. The value was worth the daily 30 minute drive to my sons college canpus.
I really felt violated today when a maid came in my room unannounced walked in and saw me half naked!! I couldn't believe that she didnt have the decency to knock b4 entering!! I was appalled...I went to complain but noone did anything.this got to be the worse hotel I've been to...trust me you don't want to go there the rooms stink...its just an awful place and a waste of money !!
Rooms were clean, ac was AMAZING, breakfast was good, staff was friendly. Pool was small, but refreshing and cool. Price was great. Was easy to get to and was close enough to everything we wanted to do. Wish check out was noon instead of 11, but would stay here again.
Check-in was fast. Front desk agent was smiling and very helpful. We were traveling with kids and pool was a must. Perfect size pool for young kids. Rooms were nice size and price was reasonable and it looked like it was renovated not to long ago.
When I opened the door to the room I noticed an odd smell, I don't know if it was just musty or it was the cleaner they used. The room was not inspected before it was occupied as it needed a toilet roll, water glasses and coffee supplies. The room had engineered floors rather than carpet and seemed clean and the bed wasn't bad. The bathroom was a safety hazard as it was a walk-in shower next to the toilet with no screening so the water went everywhere also the tiled floor was very sloppy and there was no place to put the soap or shampoo except on the toilet. There were bars on the wall of the bathroom which made it seem like an institution also there were hairs on the floor where it had not been cleaned properly.
It was spacious and welcoming! Very comfortable beds! Nice and quiet area and enjoyed a personal balcony. The breakfast choices were slim but the best was the waffles. Staff was very friendly and kind
Hotel needs improvement on breakfast buffet and dinning room isn't big enough to serve 10 families at the same time. Also I booked a room at this hotel for 59.99 military discount a week before my date then when I checked In the price incremented by 10 dollars with no notice or explanation. They changed my booking of 59.99 to 69.99 for no reason, the hotel management need to honor booking price and keep the price intact.
It was a great place to stay and the price of the room was affordable it was nice and quiet in the other gust was awesome as well everyone at the hotel was friendly we enjoyed our visit plus everything was closed by
Service was great. Rooms were clean. My kids love the place. Pool was medium size. Riverwalk was less then 10 minutes and almost half the price and better hotel. Parking lot at night is nice and bright.
We found roaches (live and dead ones), had a broken drawer and no remote for the TV. All the garbage cans in the building were overflowing! Assistant manager refused to refund us for the stay, settled on a 50% refund for the first night only and moved to a different floor. There was a basketball tournament in town, we advised other teams to avoid this hotel...most teams switched over to the super 8
Upon check-in the clerk didn't look pleased about life in general. Got to room to find out the refrigerator I paid extra for didn't work. There were fixture covers missing, the couch was old & disgusting. I found a paperclip in my bed sheets. I made due that evening with my own ice chest. Notified front desk @ 8AM & stressed the importance of having working refrigerator to store my childs medicine once again spoke to less than please person. Returned 6 hours later to non-working refrigerator and argumentative clerk. Who informed me they were working on the AC for the building - that was encouraging for my evening. Return late the 2nd evening don't even bother with the refrigerator & I'm laying in bed & think I hear rain. Sure enough rain is coming through the windows. I don't even bother calling the front desk I know at that point they don't care. I throw a towel in the window and count the time until I am able to check-out. You can see where they made some half assed attempts at remodeling. But it failed.
Came across this on a travel website and unknowingly the name, the price was were I need to be for budget. Pleasantly surprised, hotel has recently renovated and are quite nice and large. Would recommend to any traveling to check them out!
Worst hotel ever stayed in. The breakfast presentation was awful, my door would not lock and the room smelled like smoke. The lady that work in the kitchen was at the desk as well. Not a good attitude at all. I read reviews and it seems management gave the same response for every reviews. My a computer is generating the response
I called the front desk to report the constant noises and banging coming from the room above me. I had to call them 4 times and it didn't stop until 2am. I even had to have them come to my room so they could hear the banging, yelling and stomping going on. I'm completely dissatisfied with my hotel stay here. I might have gotten 3hrs of sleep and that may be over exaggeration.
It's an older hotel that has been remodeled so the room had a musty smell that air freshener will fix. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was okay Saturday morning, but not good at all Sunday and Monday. Waffles does not count for a hot breakfast buffet; plenty of cereal and milk though. Not bad for the price and the bed was very comfortable.
Good location, excellent clean rooms, great breakfast, comfortable beds, recently renovated. highly recomended will stay again soon, excellent WiFi signal big television screen and plenty of parking space,
Convenient location from the convention center, great staff, free breakfast, clean hotel overall, very quiet, good tv and wifi. More affordable than hotels close to the convention center and much quieter and less crowded.
For the price the hotel was clean and staff was very accommodating and helpful. Not in a bad area and once the hotel is completed with the renovations I'll give it a 5 star rating. I'll definitely come back.
I thought this Surestay would be better quality as it is a Best Western hotel. I was wrong. Noisy, musty, broken amenities. The toilet seat was cracked and pinched my leg. Could not use. Remote only worked for a close range. Heater/AC was very loud. Bed was uncomfortable and had toddler size pillows.
Clean hotel, was perfect what we needed with small kids. Wifi was good got my work done. Moderm rooms, well worth the price. Our room had microwave and fridge. Great staff, they helped us with getting around town.
Room I stay in for Newly renovated. Hot Breakfast was good(eggs,Sausage, waffles and etc) Staff was very friendly. Pool was also nice. I stayed here back in a day and this new management is doing some major changes. Looking good!
Was hesitant to stay here, but needed a quick hotel. They were renovating which was not a problem at all. The room was clean and ice cold. The only problem I had was they kept knocking on the door reminding us of checkout every 30 mins. Was very well aware of the time. Just made it hard to sleep with knocking.
The rooms were clean, beds comfortable, no bugs, no stains. The bathtub should be replaced, because the floor was uneven, but the bathroom in general was ok. The staff is friendly. The pool area was closed for remodeling or something like that. Breakfast it's ok. In general the price you pay is fair.
Me and my family will never stay here again or recommend anyone else to do so. As a choice hotel member we stayed at this hotel in San Antonio for the 2017 Tejano Fan Fair. The price was cheap and everything else was mainly booked. Upon arrival the front of the building was nice and the front desk staff was friendly; however, when walking to find our room this hotel started to make a dramatic twist. Our first of three rooms was horrible. In the first room the restroom smelt like pee that hasn't been flushed in weeks, the bed sheets had cigarette burns in them, the shower floor was wore out, and dead bugs were squished against the wall as if an employee killed them but didn't want to wipe them off the wall. When mentioning the room issues to the front desk staff they moved us into a second room. The second room smelt better but live roaches were crawling out from behind the TV, There was no mini fridge, there was holes in the wall and we were still not satisfied. We went to the front desk and attempted to check out but they insisted on showing us one more room. The last room was nice and we could definitely have stayed there; however, seeing what the other rooms in the hotel looked liked we were just not comfortable staying there. We spent most of our day looking for other hotels, when we got lucky and finally found another hotel. We checked out the same day and had to pay a hefty rate for a hotel downtown but it was definitely worth it than staying here.
Stayed at Econo Lodge San Antonio on 7/15/17. Here is the list of problems encountered: Room was at least 90 degrees upon arrival at around 8:00 pm and was not bearable to sleep until around 1:00 am. There were several window A/C units laying under stairwell. Bathtub was filthy and used soap in soap dish with no new soap. Towels are small and very rough. Stains on sheets. Office chair in room was broken and tilting to one side and not repairable. Couch springs were shot and you fell into the couch and one arm rest had a large indention in it. Hallways had torn paint and holes (did see one sign that said under construction). Appeared to be several possible gang members staying on our floor and when returning from late night breakfast appeared to be drug deal going down in hall across from our room. Had problems with phone chargers not charging all the way, but worked fine before and after hotel. Front desk staff were very friendly and courteous. This was the cheapest option north of San Antonio to north of San Marcos.
THESE ARE ALL TRUE FACTS, WITNESSED BY MYSELF: I've never seen so many drug addicts in one place. About 11:30 pm, police had to beat up a guest, then an ambulance came and took him away. The next day a man was at the front desk. His belongings had been stolen from his room. The next day the housekeeper's radio "Tenant in Room 2xx is non-responsive and we need to kick in her door." In my room, four lightbulbs were burned out when I arrived, and three dirty pillows were laying at the foot of the bed, as if someone had just left. A resident's dog was tied up on a choke chain to a permanent tie-out in the 104 degree heat without access to clean water or shade. That's a felony. I told the front desk. The pool was very cloudy and unusable. Gang-members stood around with their pants sagging, holding bottles of liquor, waiting for somebody to open the side door. I was supposed to stay two nights, but couldn't because my boyfriend feared for my safety. At night, vagrants with needle-marks all over their bodies were barbecuing. They were not even staying at the property, just wanderers. All entry doors malfunctioned that night. One gate and door was always unlocked by the pool area. Not very reassuring. I got charged half of the second night, even though I couldn't stay. I was afraid my car would be stolen. I can't believe this is a part of the Choice Hotels chain, or any chain for that matter.
