The pillows are no good. The room smells awful, the floor Has black stains all over it. The blanket is thin as a sheet. Whatever you ask for you have to pay extra. Ask for a hour late checkout. I have to pay for it. I asked for early check-in. We have to pay fifty dollars for that. The breakfast, it's mediocre. It's not about anything. Yeah, the workers they come here. They don't care, so they enjoy the breakfast, but the meat, it's always raw in the middle. It's never cooked fully, very limited things to choose from. I wouldn't, really call it a breakfast. They need to do some major upgrades. At this hotel, the shower curtains are just sheets. Don't catch any water. If you have a choice, don't come here
The staff are always warm helpful and inviting! Late checkin was helpful for my last trip so to my surgery time being changed !
Perfect with location right across my daughter's prom. Loved the building soo fancy. Loved the breakfast, sad that pool and spa was close I was looking forward to enjoy that while my daughter at prom .
I booked this hotel for my husband and son and it was so run down and dirty they asked for a refund after they saw their room. They ended up switching hotels. Dirty rooms and broken hot tub. Don't be fooled by the nice exterior photo. They was also one other family staying there that also switched to a different hotel on the same night.
Very clean and nice place to stay. Just a couple blocks off of Hwy. 99. Close enough to be convenient bet far enough to be quiet. Seems to be a nice safe area, right across the street from a Highway Patrol station. Clean hotel with a good breakfast, with choices of hot food and cereals. I would definitely stay there again.
The breakfast was great and the staff were all very competent. I was disappointed that the sap/jacuzzi was out of order. Still me overall stay was a work trip and the job got done. will stay here again...(if the spa is working).
Price gouging by this Best Western taking advantage of a concert in the area. Front desk staff openly said this was why they jacked up their rates - nearly double. I could have stayed in a 5 star hotel for the same or less money.. Breakfast was a bust, as they had run out of food by 8:30 am. Indifference of front desk staff when asking why the excessive rate.
The hotel was filthy and smelled like cigarettes covered with febreeze. Walls, floors, bathrooms, the pool.. everything disgusting and dirty. Worse than hotel 6. Also not located in a great area, I didn't feel completely safe with my kids. I'd NEVER stay here again.
We have stayed here 5 times now. Always clean, The staff is helpful and the breakfast is wonderful. It is always easy to park and the parking lot is quite and has lots of lights. we will be back again soon.
Reasonably priced. Very nice rooms. Clean with working appliances. More than adequate breakfast available. Parking lot was well-lit. Staff members were polite and available for questions. Although not really within walking distance, there are a good variety of restaurants within a mile or so.
I stayed for 4 days and everything went smooth. Good location with just about everything you needed. I ended up leaving my glasses and Maribel and her team found and she shipped them to me and arrived very quick. Thank you Maribel and your whole team!!!!
Sadly this Best Western felt seedy and neglected from the moment we came through the front door. About 2 hours after we checked in a worked tried to force his way into the room. If you can avoid this hotel, do.
The location was great, rooms were clean and tidy. The property was well maintained and the inside had a pleasant smell. Staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was pretty good! We had one small issue upon checking into our room that was apparently still occupied. They quickly assigned us to a new room.
Three night stay, room serviced only once. No blankets, had to use my own. Trash not taken out after first night. Carpets were dirty. Did not replinished my used towels. Wrinkle bed spread was just refitted and reused. Bad impression. My falmily and I will hesitate on using Best Western again.
I enjoyed my stay here. The room was clean and the staff was very friendly with check in and check out. The room came with free parking which was a huge plus. My room had free breakfast and it included some warm items as well and cold items. My room had all the amenities i could hope for: iron, fridge and microwave. We even managed to watch Sunday football on the tv in the room! The AC kept the room very cold and nice during the hot weekend and the room was big.
The staff is the cherry on top. They are so kind and accommodating. The room was clean. The breakfast selection was better than most and had something both of my picky teens ate. Elevator is a little interesting but overall great experience.
Check-in was fine, but certainly uninspired. Details were not thoroughly explained, we had to ask several basic questions. Agent was indifferent. Carpets throughout the common areas and stairs really needed to be vacuumed and cleaned. Upon arriving at our room, it smelled weird. My children described the small as "wet". I've never understood why when we make an online reservation and identify 4 guests, there aren't enough towels in the room to accommodate the number of guests staying in the room...made a trip to the desk to get more towels. It was 90 degrees outside, but our room wasn't too hot. Window-mounted A/C wasn't too loud and worked just fine. The beds are a bit too firm for our tastes, but we slept pretty well. The shower water pressure was adequate. Upon leaving our room in the AM for the in-house comp breakfast, we were met with a strong smell of cannabis. Breakfast was fine. Not as many options as some of the other BW's we have stayed at. Would have really appreciated some granola and peanut butter. Note this location is quite a way from I-5 if you happen to be traveling. Overall below average experience. We would not recommend this property to others.
They have another family the key to our room! This was after they had to use my had copy reservation confirmation to even "find" our reservation. Stayed three nights, but they did not clean the room on day two as requested. Breakfast sub-par for a Best Western Hotel. Pool was nice.
The check in process was fast but not pleasant. The front desk lady was just doing her job. The room itself was ok clean and basic , no surprise. The free breakfast was ok with scramble egg ,sausages and waffle maker; otherwise , it is average. The only problem is the noisy AC unit. It was difficult to have a quiet sleep when the AC was on.
Booked this place for us to stay before my son's SAT. Location is accessible from highways and in a quiet neighborhood. Interiors can use some updates. But front desk area and breakfast room are clean and tidy. Breakfast is self-serving. Has a nice selection of items (with a waffle maker) and good selection of hot beverages. Overall, it works fine for our purpose of stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed our night at Best Western Capital City Inn. The room spacious, bed comfortable, and staff attentive, capable, and friendly. We will definitely stay here on our next trip to Sacramento.
What a big wow for a small Best Western in south Sacramento! The staff were very courteous. Receptionists Maribel and Louiza were gems. My wife had a procedure at the nearby Kaiser medical offices, and Maribel let me have a later check out so I could have the room during her morning operation. That is first-rate kind service. The breakfast was good with a variety of offerings. The room, upgraded by Louiza, was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Big surprises can come in small packages.
The person that checked us in was nice and helpful. The hotel room was dirty. It was dusty and the floors needed vacuumed. The bed skirts had several stains like they haven't been washed in a while. The room we were in was right across from the elevator, so don't do it. We heard and felt every little door that was slammed and the loud noises from the hall.
Very nice hotel. Comfortable. Conveniently located off of CA 99. Two concerns: 1) Having breakfast and there was a spill. It was wiped up from the floor and the same towel was used to wipe the food counter down!!! Then there was a live crawling bug in the bathtub. I would stay again when I come back. Staff very nice. Ample free parking. Breakfast is good.
After our first hand wash the vanity sink filled, and never drained. We had to use bathtub to brush teeth and wash hands for the rest of our overnight stay. The bathroom had a strong cigarette smoke odor. I reported it so I would not be charged for smoking. It is also difficult to drive to from I-5, and then return for our journey south.
Clean good location . Staff very friendly and helpful.Breakfast was great eggs sausage and French toast were hot and fresh . Good selection of cold cereal and juice along with several selections of coffee.
A comfortable stay. The front desk staff was courteous and efficient. The carpet near the elevators looked a bit used and needs a cleaning. Would definitely consider returning and recommend the hotel. Stayed here 3 nights.
Nice enough. Clean. Bring your own pillows. Thiers suck. Or go to Ross down the street. Otherwise, great. Breakfast was eggs, sausages, bagels, waffles. It makes you wrote more than 200 characters. What else do they want me to say ffs.
we are very particular with the beds. bad or old beds do not help us get to sleep. but the beds here were very nice and very comfortable. the accommodations were just right for us. we were only passing through and have no reservations.
Me and my wife had 1 of our best stays at any best western hotel ever, excellent staff, breakfast, laundry facilities, air conditioning in room, help from staff, and Louiza at front desk was very knowledgeable and helpful and very kind.
We went on this trip for the weekend everything was going wrong then we go to our hotel and everything changed. We got checked in super fast our room was the first one rite at entrance, so everything was easy to take to my room then I remembered I forgot to buy milk for my daughter but they were so nice at front desk and they let me have a few glasses thanks so much!!!
Travels to visit my daughter is a long drive across Bay Area to the Foothills Hwy 49. Best Western Hotel is a great stop over ahead to rest and rejuvenate. With that said I'll be back to stay at Best Western Capital City Inn.
Hotel looks nice on the outside until you pull up and get propositioned by a prostitute! Front desk did nothing when I told Them.Multiple Night of loud music or TVs the downstairs staff did nothing about. Bath tub clogged with months of hair, razor blade guard and soap wrappers.
This hotel was a life-saver. We came here to be close to the Kaiser hospital and the location was PERFECT for us. Andrew at the front desk was very helpful over the phone even before we ever checked in. And since everything worked out we decided to stay one extra day making 3 days instead of two.
The place is generally run down--everything is worn and old and dirty feeling.... which, by itself, isn't necessarily a dealbreaker....the cost was not unreasonable for the kind of place it is in an urban area., However, during our stay in September 2020--in the height of the upswing in Covid-19 we were the ONLY people in the motel wearing masks in the public areas...not the other guests, not the front desk staff and not the maid service employees. There were no signs requesting the use of masks. Sacramento was at the time in the PURPLE, or worst case tier. Masks are required in public places in this status. To add insult to injury (hopefully there will not actually BE any injury) upon making the reservation, we were told a $100 deposit would be charged to our card--we assumed this would count towards the room charge. Not so, it turns out...its a DAMAGE DEPOSIT! I've never heard of this practice. Admittedly, it will (hopefully) be returned to us, but in the meantime we had an extra $100 charge on top of the Room fee. Both of us are long time members of Best Western's Rewards Program....too bad, I'm not tempted to use Best Westerns again. I certainly would never go to this place again. Finally, until fairly late at night there were radio parties going on in the parking lot under our window, which we had open because of the room odor and noise of the AC unit.
I had surgery at Kaiser about one mile away which made it really convenient . Was also during the COVID19 pandemic so the hot breakfast was not served which was understandable. The grounds were beautiful and the ADA room clean and more than adequate with roll-in shower etc etc. The staff were super helpful with exceptional service from Andrew who went out of his way to ensure out stay was as good as it could possibly be under the circumstances.
I come here to work and this is my first choice of places to stay in this area. It is close the job and somewhat safe being right across the from the CHP and not next to a neighborhood.Rooms are clean and the place is generally quiet. Plenty of places to eat nearby.
Everything was good the service the staff the management Housekeeping was good the only thing the elevator floor was clean and they should have an Ice Machine and Vending Machine on the second floor too.
Pros-Our room was very nice and clean. Nice lighting. Quiet. Very helpful staff. Even though the regular breakfast was not served, due to the covid19 issue, they provided a brown bag take out breakfast that was good. Cons- NO RV parking. Fortunately it was a slow night, so there was room in the lot to park our 52' of truck and trailer. No shampoo/conditioner provided ( may have been overlooked?) The bed was marginally comfortable ( maybe getting close to retirement?!) Enjoyable stay !
front desk staffs needs more training, upon check in no eye contact or direction given luckily i had family that they had given me direction, late night agent "female, blond hair" had her son at the front desk jumping all over the counter, as I m trying to ask a question he is all over the keyboard the mother on shift could not help due to distraction, room found candy wraps, lip gloss, chips and bottle water as if there a rush on cleaning the room and for the price I paid for not worth it. I cleaned my own room from the moment I check in to the moment I check out and the hotel staffs all knew about this. This is how I found all the unclean area including the wall seems as if someone splash soda or coffee
97$ a night, breakfast the next day. Waffles were good, eggs watery and gross. Good location for our trip. Check out time was 11, enabled us to get out comfortably. There was a guy out front smoking weed and mean mugging us as we walked in though, not awesome for a father of 3 young kids. I think he worked there too...
Outside landscaping is in bad need of attention, Lobby is very small as well as the rooms. Breakfast area is cold as well as over cooked food. The employees dress as though they work in a men's stripper bar. They do not put there best foot forward. Not a three star do not be fooled.
Very nice, CLEAN hotel - fitted botto sheet and softer towels would be a big improvement. Nice features included a microwave and refrigerator in the room, and a very nce assortment of breakfast items in the dining area each morning.
Capital City Best Western is situated for easy walking distance to/from quick dinning and easy on/off from freeway. However, be careful about turning onto Massie court, since this street coming from the off ramp of the 99 freeway has no light, so be patient.
Only stayed here for one night, but the room was a major disappointment. No internet or tv for 3 hours during my stay. Additionally, the bed was not comfortable and there were long hairs on the floor of the room with the shower. The area itself is also a less than desired area. My coworkers told me that on future trips to the area I should stay in Rancho Cordova. I would advise others to do the same.
Remodeld could have been better. It's a nice building and convenient location for us! We used best western after remodeling and they been nice but here I had hard beds, ant problem. Had no choice but to stay die to Thanksgiving
Traveling with a kids soccer team for the weekend. Checked in to find the elevator not working, ants crawling around the toilet and the hallway and stairway carpet smelling musty and smokey. Turned out to be least of our problems. We left our luggage unattended in our room for no more than 30 minutes and had someone enter our room (likely another guest) and steal all of our luggage and car keys. Police arrived quickly and helped as much as they could but no luck locating our stuff or the thief. Police warned us that the area is very dangerous and that was clear with lots of sketchy people in the area and some at the hotel itself. Staff was as helpful as they could be but clear that they have an uphill battle. Ownership has not invested in the property to maintain it and keep it safe. Security cameras in the lobby don't work. Side entrance doors are propped open and unsecured. Staff told us they recently got a bid to put cameras throughout the property which they clearly need. Others in our group were woken to the sounds of domestic disturbances in adjacent rooms to boot. Only good news is our car itself wasn't stolen.
This location is due for some aesthetic upgrades. Breakfast, while included in price, fell below par. Fruit was not ripe/edible, eggs were cold, and we were there when it opened at 6am. Coffee was barely "drinkable".
DO NOT STAY HERE! They need to do an internal investigation of their employees. Checked out with front desk and gave them my room keys. I was traveling alone and from out of state. Few hours later I had to call them to see why my card was charged extra. After I checked out and gave the front desk my room keys the room was "robbed" of two TV's and bedsheets. The GM told me he knew i did not do it but still charged my card an extra $600 (even tried for more in smaller amounts, but was blocked). When i called they still had not even contacted the police or filed a report. Still have not heard from the owners. DO NOT STAY HERE.
We checked in to the Best Western John Jay Inn on Thursday, September 12, 2019. We noticed a few ants in the room but didn't think much about until Friday morning when we got up and the room was over run with ants. I requested another room and was moved one floor down. We saw a few ants in that room as well but once again didn't think much about it. I went to bed that evening and turned over to see a roach on the wall. That was the last straw! I called the manager and let him know that we were checking out immediately and would not be paying for the room that night. So, at 10:00pm, we packed up our things and moved to the Hilton Garden Inn. I'm so thankful they had a room available.
The hotel is an imposing Colonial structure looking very welcoming from the street. Inside is a calming small loiunge area with a business center across from it. You step forward through the lobby to the check-in counter. Our host was very considerate and gave us all the information we needed for our stay. We took the elevator to our room and was pleasantly surprised whrn we opened the door to a large room with king size bed. The carpet was new and the bathroom was conveniently set up for a two person occupancy. The hotel was within walking distance of our meeting venue. Enjoyed our 5 day stay very much!
This hotel is actually much nicer than I expected. Its in an industrial area, close to the freeway. The lobby is easy to find, and the wait to check in was not bad (but it was about 1am). Our room was at the end of the hall, and was very quiet. The bed was very comfortable. The room was a nice size, with all the normal hotel features. The decor was a little dated, but in good shape and clean. There is a coffee maker in the room, which is nice. The bathroom was outdated but clean. Hot water came almost immediately. Kind of low water pressure, but it was fine. You get free breakfast, but we got up too late and ran out of time to stop and grab anything. The only negative was parking. There doesn't seem to be enough spots in the lot. And a couple people parked over the line, so they kind of took 2 spots. Of course that is not the hotels fault. So we had to park on the street, which made us a little nervous, but our car was fine in the morning. So this hotel is nothing fancy, but a nice place to get a good nights sleep & a free breakfast. For the price - you cant beat it.
This hotel's #1 asset is its staff. They are warmer than summer days in Sacramento. I had the mobility-challenged room (110) which is right by the front desk. Every time I went out, whoever was there and had a smile on their face and called me by name. They are always happy to help whatever your needs. Nothing negative to say about this hotel. They have an onsite guest washer. To access it, yo have to go into the pool area, then it's to the right.
This hotel was exactly what I needed so I could attend a local wedding. Quiet, well located, and accessible in Elk Grove. Breakfast leaved something to be desired. When compared to other Best Western Hotels, this one has a smaller dining space (I ended up eating in my room) and fewer food choices. Staff is very nice and welcoming.
I had a great stay at this hotel. I said it was "unexpectedly wonderful" because the room rates were reasonable instead of stupidly expensive with all other area chain hotels. I was pleasantly surprised.... reasonable rates and nice hotel. The room was clean and had no odor. At the desk, Andrew, Sandy, and Julie were awesome. There was a continental breakfast. Only one elevator, but that was okay. The A-C worked fine and there were plenty of towels. I had to wait a bit for hot water ... but that was okay ... after a couple of minutes it ran hot. I would definitely stay here again! : -)
This hotel is a little older but it was clean and comfortable. It's near the freeway but we did not have any trouble with freeway noise. The bed was very comfortable and everything in the room absolutely worked. the service here is really good the girl at night was very helpful and the girl first thing in the morning was helpful. I went to get a soda out of the soda machine and it was hot for some reason and she went right in the back and got me one thatwas cold. We travel a lot on business and we will definitely be coming back to this one
Rooms are very dirty. Had to change because of throw up all over the nightstand People smoking by the front entrance so you have to walk through cigarette smoke when you enter and leave the building. Breakfast was good and staff were friendly.
Even though located right off the freeway I have always had a quiet room. Parking is easy and the staff very helpful. Rooms and bath spacious with plenty of room to work and beds comfy for a good nights rest.
Had no problems during our one night stay. Nothing fancy just a good clean room in what seems to be a safe area. The staff is wonderful- very friendly. Would love to stay here again next time we have to come back to the u.c. Davis medical center which is relatively close
Pros: Very comfortable bed, quiet area, friendly staff Cons: Old, worn out, showing its age, dirty carpeting, sketchy area, musty smell in the room Usual hotel breakfast with rubbery "scrambled eggs" but there are some ok things to choose as well.
A friend & I attend a lot of sewing & embroidery classes throughout the year in Sacramento. This is the ONLY place we stay at. The staff has been there a long time & always recognize us wen we arrive. They always ask in their surveys to choose any employee that stands out. This is an impossible task as they are all so great. Will be staying there again. At first, we only stayed the nights required for the classes. We enjoy this place so much that we come the night before & stay an extra night.
Check In and Cjeck Out process was quick and easy. Welcoming staff. Room was clean. Overall the room was quiet. Not much to do/visit within walking distance, but a great place to put your head down and rest.
The hotel and staff are very kind and helpful! The area is really quiet, we had a very nice rest. Will be going back in May for my Wedding Anniversary and can't wait. Should stay if in the area very nice!
Was traveling for business, every room they put me in had ants in it. The manager offered to spray the room, yes, and I was supposed to sleep in a sprayed room? I was to stay 3 days, I checked out the next day.
Having lived in Sacramento for over 15 years, I knew which part of town to pretty much avoid. However, things have changed since living there and we were pleasantly surprised at this hotel. It was clean, comfortable, the staff was helpful and very kind, and we would stay there again.
While I was at Kaiser for surgery, we stayed here the night before and day after. My wife came back to hotel that night and found the door left ajar. Later that night what seemed to be a local lady of the evening had a loud argument in the hall way with her date. This was followed by loud banging on the door down the hall with shouting "police open up." You expect something a bit quieter on the third floor and better response from Best Western.
Staff was welcoming and accommodating. Rooms (we stayed in 2) were well-kept. Breakfast was great. Location was perfect for all the things we wanted to do in Sacramento. Very reasonably priced. One of my better stays.
The John Jay Inn was worth the extra distance to travel when there was other hotels closer to where my meeting was the people are friendly and prompt to address needs. Some fast food is close by. Nice Place
Great location and friendly staff. The coffee was hot and food was comparable with other hotels . Ckean rooms and felt safe staying at this hotel. You will enjoy your stay with nearby shopping and a good night sleep.
We had a room on the second floor in the back of the building which was very quiet. The place is a little dated but it was fine and the price was fair. The AC worked well, the bathroom was dated also I don't really care for bath mats as I wonder how many strangers have stood or sat on them. The tub walls were rather dirty but I was showering so pretended to myself that they were clean. I had planned to use the washer and dryer but was told the washer was broken so......
I stayed at this hotel while waiting for my new cable service to be installed. The room was spacious enough to store all of my items. They have the most comfortable beds and a nice view of Sacramento.
We stay here every time we are in Sacramento. Considering the other choices in the same area, it's still the best one. However, even though they've done some remodeling in the past year, we found that most areas feel more worn and neglected. Beds are comfortable and rooms have both microwave and fridge. Breakfast is standard and runs out fast! We had the bad luck to stay while both the elevator and key cards were down. Kudos to the staff! Every one we dealt with was so kind and friendly. They really make the place seem better than it is. This hotel used to be worth every penny. Sadly, we may have to move on if things don't improve.
Made reservations for handicap accessible room but the employee didn't follow through on booking. Got to hotel to find out there was no more handicap room; plus an arrogant and snooty check-in person. Ended up with a room that was not handicap accessible. They did move us next morning. I think we should of been compensated for the mix-up and inconvenience. Was told manager would call me at home and I haven't heard a ring yet. Not happy. Double check your reservations after making them.
The room we checked info was nice and ok. Regretfully the toilet did not flush, so we had to move to another room. The first alternative room was hot and smelled like it had been smokend in for years. The second alternative was better, just a noisy airconditioner. The waterpressure in the evening was very low! The next morning it was back up to normal. So yes, pleased with the service it is strange that hotels where you have to sign for not smoking has rooms that have been smokend in.
Clean, quiet, reasonable and spacious room. I booked a king suite three weeks before a concert at Golden 1 Center through the Best Western website at a BW Rewards rate. This property is a 15 minute drive from the venue. There is an outdoor pool and jacuzzi. It looked like the hotel was completely full, yet we didn't hear anything in our third floor room. I will definitely stay here again when in Sacramento.
The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast dining area was small. The selection was s little more limited than usual. Both the night and morning desk clerks were pleasant and helpful. We were tired from our flight and glad to have a nice accommodation.
It is on the lower end of what I have become accustomed to for Best Western. I try to stay at BW exclusively to earn points. The breakfast was sub par but not at all bad. It would have been a value if the room was about $30 bucks less a night. Bed was not super comfortable for me but that is hit and miss anywhere. Staff were friendly. I would stay here again. But don't expect a nice view or lots of easy good restaurants close by. There is a Starbucks close but you are surrounded by strip malls and have to seek places out if you want to eat. Of course you could just drive somewhere. We did. It was not a bad experience at all but not the value I would have liked.
Like all Best Westerns everything was clean and in good working order. Breakfast here was lousy. Cold and food that should not be heated in a microwave like the tater tots. It seems liked house keeping was ready for us to go. Every time we were out of the room, housekeeping said
We got a suite and the price was less than other single rooms in the area. We only slept there and was gone during the day, but was so nice to come back to such a nice room! Only request is that they move the full length mirror from the inside of the bathroom door to the outside. No one wants to watch themselves on the toilet! lol Highly recommend this place!
The staff was very friendly and the room very comfortable and quiet. Breakfast exceeded our expectations, We have visited this motel before and will visit it again in the future if we need to be in the area. A very satisfying visit.
This is a great hotel, especially for the cost. Always super clean with friendly staff. It's easy to get to right off the highway and close to a lot of restaurant; not to far from Old Town Sac where we like to hang out when we stay at this hotel. Thanks for making it nice and affordable!
As usual,no hassle BW stay. I'm a trucker and there is room to park a big truck. Building is slightly dated, but the service is what is expected of this chain. Becky,Fang and Mai went out of their way for me. Hotel is clean and located close to the freeway(SR99). Will be using again.
This is a good hotel .. would highly recommend it. It is quiet, and there is plenty of parking, even for trucks or cars with trailers. There are a number of adequate restaurants very close. The internet works well. You can open windows for ourside air. Very clean and well appointed.
I was in Sacramento for training and my company had me stay here for 5 nights. My room was clean, and attended to every day. None of my personal belongings were ever disturbed. The bed was firm and they provided four pillows. Everything was quiet, though I did hear someone upstairs walking around at 1:00 am on one night, but it was brief and I was able to get back to sleep. The breakfast they serve here is great. They have scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and either two types of potato, or one potato dish and french toast strips. They also have a waffle maker, and provide various cereals and pastries. There are many drink selections as well. I loved being able to have a good breakfast without having to spend extra time to hit a restaurant before reporting to work. The only odd thing that happened during my stay was one evening there was a man outside my window stealing electricity from an outlet, I think to charge his cell phone. He was talking loudly with another individual and seemed to be changing clothes. I kept an eye on them until they left. I suggest if you don't want anyone hanging around your room, try to get one on an upper floor.
This is an unexpectedly pleasant place to stay in a busy area just off the freeway. Hotel staff were exceptional in customer service. The room was quiet, comfortable and spacious. Amenities included hot beverages 24/7 and a very good hot breakfast with lots of options.
The hotel was fine for a comfortable night of sleep, if that is all you need. Not really near anything. And frankly, a motel might get you the same thing for less cost. Nice lady helped at check-in. Probably feels safer than motor hotel. Other guests seemed friendly. Complementary breakfast available (didn't eat it), but they had waffles!
Very clean, helpful staff, useful amenities, pleasant environment. One of the nicest Best Western properties I've stayed in including the in US, UK and Europe. Only downside is its location--just a tad hard to find, but worth it.
The hotel and the location are nice. However, I think it's a bit overpriced for this type of hotel. The internet worked as expected. The employees were friendly and professional, so my only minor complaint is the price.
Was here for only one night, but would stay here again when visiting this area. Staff was very courteous and answered any questions that I had. Rooms were large and with the added feature of a microwave and refrigerator, mad it a lot more comfortable especially if you are staying more than one night.
Excellent value for the price. Clean room and good beds. Had a nice breakfast. Breakfast room was temporary due to construction, and was too small. Not everyone could be seated. Attendant did not/could not keep up with the demand for eggs and other hot foods. Did have a wonderful selection of things to eat. I would definitely stay again.
Will not stay there again two times I've stayed there whether it be noisy drunks in the room above me or some mysterious beeper going off that no one can find and wakes you up it's just a noisy place Staff falls very short of expectations
Thumbs up! Great service. Friendly staff. had a great night sleep. Spa was very relaxing. Several other hotels in this area but just looking at this one will catch your eye. Not far from several good resteraunts.
I never stayed in this area before but I must say the area is very poor and kinda ghetto. I wouldn't walk around alone outside. The hotel inside is nice and everything was good. The price was very pricey for being in this kinda area. I stayed at other Best Western on weekends and usually it's about 20 dollars cheaper. So that was a bit unfortunate. I recommend staying here but just not a pretty neighborhood. While trying to find the location on maps I was a bit shocked on its location. I was at first worried but I didn't need to be outside. I was going to Elk Grove so maybe a new location there would be nice. I only checked in 10mins farther than my location this time was to use my Bestwestern points. Thanks for the kind hospitality.
Stayed here for a quick weekend getaway. Room was spacious, clean and nice. I liked the exterior of the hotel. Looked really historic. Staff was friendly checking us in and out. Had no problems here everything was timely and clean!
This BW hotel exceeded my expectations for Sacramento area. This out of the way, hidden hotel tucked away off the beaten path was just the comfort level that I needed. Surprised me how comfortable the bed was, since I have a bad back and hotel beds usually give me a hard time. Not this time it was really great!
The staff is really helpful and friendly. The complimentary breakfast was great with a wide variety to offer. Looking forward to their newly remodeled breakfast area. The in room internet was fast and stable.
Gentleman at desk was so friendly and helpful! Lent us a bottle opener, offered a late check out if needed, and genuinely appreciated our business. Also, the mattress was so comfortable and the rooms were super quiet. We all slept well.
I'm a frequent traveler, Elite member of Best Western, as well as Gold member of Hotels.com. I first came to this hotel in October 2015 and returned October 2017. I booked and requested the same room (212) - which is a one bedroom suite with a balcony and gas fireplace. A wet bar and mini fridge/ microwave was also included. There are only two of these rooms with the other just above on the third floor. I preferred the second floor because the third floor balcony has no roof cover from the sun and rain. The checkin experience was fast and very friendly. I was able to checkin when I arrived just before 1:30pm. There are two other “John Jay” themed Best Western's in California. I stayed at the Palmdale location this summer but Sacramento's is far more updated and professional. The room was clean and included all the amenities needed. I love the separate bedroom and large balcony. I noticed a soda and snack vending machine on the first floor however it didn't appear to accept credit cards. The pool and spa were clean and relaxing. They are currently building a kitchen to serve hot breakfast. This is required by Sacramento County to serve hot items. That said, due to strict local laws, all the breakfast items are pre packaged like a “grab & go.” Within walking distance is a Burger King, Jack in the Box, and Chevron mart. This is a great location alternative to the now very expensive hotels in downtown (due to concerts and events at Golden 1 Arena). I will definitely return to this Best Western on future stays in Sacramento. This is truly a hidden gem with great rates if you book direct.
Easy check in/check out process. Room had what it needed, the internet worked. AC worked, TV and microwave functioned. Microwave was clean. Didn't use the fridge, but it was cold. Bedding was fresh. Had no issues and the staff was nice. Cloe to the freeway. Easy stay.
Room was clean. Desk clerks were very friendly and helpful. Room was stocked with the neccesities (towels, soap, cups, coffee, etc). TV was newer and was easy to use. The A/C unit worked great as well. Easy to check in, easy to check out.
Although this property has a decent appearance it doesn't have much else to recommend it. Situated in an area of mostly vacant lots. After signing a statement saying we wouldn't smoke, we were given a room that reeked of cigarette smoke. Breakfast consisted of cereal, cellophane wrapped pastries and not much else. The staff was quite pleasant. I wish I could have written a more positive review.
Booked morning of arrival and purchased upgraded to suite with kitchenette, fireplace and balcony. Web page said minor lobby construction, which was very minor. No working elevator and was advised it hadn't been for several days. Recent surgery didn't allow for me carrying bags up two flights so was moved to ground floor, but no reduction in room rate. Clerk at check-in advised us neighborhood was "sketchy" at night but car was fine the next morning.
This hotel is in a great location. Super close to the freeway. The staff here was amazing. So friendly and always checking in on you. Was located in a cute quiet location and the price was very affordable. Internet worked great and breakfast was great selection of food.. I would recommend to others to stay here.
Had a nice stay. Clean and breakfast was good. The new breakfast area should be up and running soon, but I enjoyed the breakfast none the less. Pool and spa were in good shape and hit the spot on a hot day.
This is a standard "colonial" version Best Western. Make sure you stay on the third floor. The wood construction does not isolate noise between floors at all. Side to side is not bad. Door slamming is, as usual a problem if you are a light sleeper. The breakfast was actually very poor but there are breakfast options all around. Room was clean, well maintained, and comfortable. Internet speed was superb. I was working in Rancho Cordova which is only about 12-15 miles away, but the commute was at least 30 minutes coming and going. The price is at least %40 cheaper than staying in Rancho Cordova. No views, nothing to see, and the area is not great, but there is a CHP office across the street so we all felt pretty safe. No pets. Nice people working there. So it gets a 4. If the breakfast had been decent, and the noise level better it could have been bucking for a higher score based on the price. Hope this helps!
The AC was off when I arrived to my room and it was 100 degrees outside. It never cooled me off. The hotel was dirty and my room was smelly. The water pressure for the shower was poor. My overall experience was poor.
When we pulled up to motel I thought wow beautiful looking hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was nice and clean comfortable bed. cant say enough about it. The only tiny thing I could say was the laundry room closed at 10 at night. wished it had been open 24 hours. I would stay here again its in a nice quiet area closed to restaurants We made a mistake and booked rooms in a different motel area The jiboon street where theres a different best western and a few other motels. that is a bad area with homeless lurking around and not so family friendly after dark.
During the night someone stole items from our vehicles by breaking the window. I feel so violated and sad by losing precious items. I hope someday the person who stole my things will see fit to give back the items that would mean nothing to them.
This hotel was clean, and the staff friendly. The breakfast was the best part of my stay! I would recommend this hotel highly, however, the only bad thing was the noises coming from upstairs, which is most likely to be expected at a hotel with multiple floors.
Excellent experience. Staff , amenities, internet breakfast. All facets were great. Comfort of bet etc warm day so the pool was awesome, comfortable stay start to finish easy access parking and with a truck that is greatly appreciated
Price, cleanliness, friendly and overall best place to stay in Sacramento. Internet friendly and the continental breakfast is very satisfying. Beautiful pool area. The staff is very welcoming and professional. A return stay is in our future.
I reserved 2 rooms for my wife & I and my brother. Upon check, we found ants all over our sink in our room. My brother had a mouse in his room and when away from the hotel I tried calling my brother from my cell phone and the front desk clerk would not connect me. I see no reason to return to this hotel.
The hotel was clean and well maintained, the staff was helpful and friendly I would stay there again in a heartbeat. It was nice having a pool for the warm evening, not many people took advantage of this amenity and it was like having it all to myself.
When we called to book this hotel I should have hung up when the clerk rudely told me that they would not honor our AAA discount. But since we were traveling through the area and in need of a place for the night I went ahead and booked because we'd never had a bad experience at a Best Western before. The clerk that checked us in was polite in the evening, unlike whoever answered the phone earlier. The room was adequately clean but had an unpleasant odor. We did not feel safe enough in the area to attempt to go out to search for a place to eat dinner and there was nothing within close proximity we could see. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel
If you are in this part of town this is the hotel to stay at. The rooms are nice, the bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in, but the staff is what made it great. They make you feel like you are home. The one thing people have complained about is the lack of a hot breakfast, this is a problem with the city but they are in the process of fixing it. I will say what they do offer is high quality and different, it was actually a nice change from standard breakfast offering.
Low water pressure, ants in my room, bad service in front desk. Got told something and they never did it for me. They said they couldn't change my room all they could do was raid it and at the end I stayed up at night waiting for someone and no one showed up like they told me they would
I had stayed at John J Inn in the past but not for several years. I was pleased to see everything was a fresh and clean as the last time I had been there. I selected it for this visit based on my previous stays.
I really enjoyed the location and the friendliness of the staff. That bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept on. Some other reviews mention the 7-11 type breakfast. I am a seasoned traveler and I agree it was mostly pre-packaged food, but it had a great variety, different juices and plenty of real fresh fruit. And, unlike 7-11, it's FREE!! I see they don't have a kitchen so this is a great option. Location wise, it's a minute to a freeway - so close access without the noise.
Great Best Western considering it's location near the heart of Sacramento. Worth the extra bucks in comparison to next door Red Roof Inn and Motel 6. Comfortable room. Ease of access. Entry is inside the hotel instead of a door outside. Nice pool. The only negative is the breakfast coffee is horrible. The in room coffee is much better. Denny's across the street was even better.
Spacious bathroom, small room with two queens, excellent internet connection, adequate assistance from front desk staff, attentive breakfast staff with many good food and beverage choices. Might stay here again if needing a quick overnight stay en route to another destination.
Clean, comfortable and everything in the room worked. Breakfast is somewhat limited (mostly cold cereal and stuff that be microwaved). The best part of the experience was the staff. From check in to check out, every member of the staff went out of their way to be helpful.
I'm going on night two of my week here and the guest above me has ZERO consideration for others. It's honestly like an elephant got loose from a zoo and he's chasing a mouse back and forth across the ceiling of my room. This is the second night I've expressed my grievances to the staff, and it still continues. The parking lot has a bunch of wasted spots, marked with no parking. The breakfast is a box of mixed pieces. I guess due to Sacramento's ingenious health department, they can't serve real food. It's literally a 7-Eleven selection with microwaves. There's no fresh made food. If gas station bagels, and plastic wrapped boiled eggs are your thing, you'll love the breakfast here. Another problem, the TV didn't work the first night. The power cord for the cable box died, and since they were sold out I was SOL. Thankfully the front desk clerk and I spent about 30 minutes testing solutions until we came up with the idea to steal one from a suite that had two TVs. There's no gym here, but an outdoor pool/spa with NO shade. Across the street is a CHP station, which hopes for safety, but in the parking lot for an decrepit skating rink next door, there's some serious prostitution going down after sunset. The price is right, and that was it's saving grace.
Best rooms and value for the traveler, never disappointed with Best Western! In addition to the great service you get amazing rewards back that adds up to free stays, Best Western is always my first choice!
I have stayed at many Best Western properties and i am loyal to this brand. This property is my new favorite! As a platinum member, they treated my guests and i like family. The pool is sparkling and refreshing with a jacuzzi as a bonus..
My wife and I stayed here one night and found it to be a nice, clean, comfortable hotel. I'm not usually much for hotels, but this one was particularly clean, had pretty new looking carpet, and nice furniture in the rooms. The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were very nice and clean. The pool was clean and very refreshing since the day was so hot. The surrounding area isn't exactly the nicest, but it isn't too bad, and it's very close to freeway access. It's conveniently located a short drive from some restaurants and shopping centers. There was a good variety of complimentary breakfast items and they were easy to take on the go. It's not the Ritz or anything, but it's a good value and perfectly nice place to stay for a couple days while you're on a trip in the area.
The staffs at this hotel are very helpful an nice, and the room is clean. The only concern is shower water pressure is a bit low and the internet sometimes is slow. There are plenty choices for breakfast. I like this location. It is close to free way and there are plenty of restaurants and shopping stores nearby. Overall, I am pleased with the stays at this hotel.
Very clean hotel, guest service could have been better. I felt like the clerk was judging me based on my race initially...her attitude didn't get better until my credit card was approved...she looked suprised that it wasn't declined. Guess I didn't look like I could afford a $100 room? Other than that the hotel was clean and comfy!
Please do not stay inless you intend to get charged additional $235 for towels and linens. No GM onsite for 4 days to explain the charges for refund. Very unprofessional!!! Will never stay there it recommend to anyone. Stay at Holiday or Marriot for additional $50 would be worth the difference. You get what you pay for!!!
I have to be honest as a Best Western Diamond member this is one of the Best, BW Properties we've stayed at so far. The staff especially "Angel" is very helpful, curtious and professional. We didn't have any problems with the hotel or staff! The value of the hotel was very affordable and the breakfast was unbelievably good. Also it's very rare that I even give anyone a 10 when it comes to ratings but this hotel at least for us was very easy to give a perfect 10
The rooms are very clean and very well decorated. The bed was super comfy and the room came with a nice size fridge. Very friendly staff. I would stay here again. Stayed in the middle of the week and it was nice and quite.
Clean. Next to CHP headquarters. Felt very safe. Service was nice. Breakfast was mostly microwaveable items. Had fruit, yogurt and cereal. Fairly easy to find and surrounded by a lot of places to eat. It's right off the freeway.
This was our first stay here and it is a very nice hotel and the breakfast selections are far beyond what you get at other hotels. The rooms are large and very nice, would stay again if in the area. It is not too far from a mall with lots of restaurants, so dining isn't an issue here.
Booked at last minute was a little leary of the area but the hotel itself was awesome. Attend horseshows in the area several times a year never get to partake in the breakfast cuz we leave so early but this hotel accomodated us and the breakfast choices where perfect to grab and go. Will definately stay here again. Most likely will be my go to hotel going forward.
What can I say. Pick a hotel in your price range and you won't be disappointed. Very helpful staff, kind and curtious. Bed was kinda hard but wasn't in a sweet and I'm used to my wife's pillow top so I can't complain too much. Over all experience was fantastic.
Very satisfy, location was perfect for our family trip. kids loved the pool, room was pretty clean housekeeping was on top of everything. Front desk was very helpful and friendly. Everything in room work, TV, Fridge, Coffee Maker. Very relaxed weekend. Thanks
Absolutely no problems. Everybody was great! We will definitely return. This Best Western sets a standard for those who are looking to be taken care of! Very accomodating and helpful to all the guests they encounter
Hotel was clean and nice. Area where hotel located was not the best but the value of the hotel was well worth the stay. Room was clean, but the shower water pressure was very low. I didn't eat breakfast, but checked out the options for breakfast and it was below what I have had at other Best Westerns where I have stayed. I would recommend this hotel because of the value.
This has become our home away from home. We have been going to the dentist in Mexicali. We r always greeted with a smile. The rooms have been very clean, love the fridge since we come so far. General Manager, Veronica is always very helpful with whatever we need. Maria, Santiago, Alan & whoever else I may have forgotten your names, greet us with a smile, make new reservations, and etc. The breakfast is delicious and hot, good variety, and very clean, she does a wonderful job. Recently, my husband had dental surgery. Santiago got me extra bags for ice, and hand towels and even brought them to our room. I was impressed!. This is our place to stay when we are in Calexico. Keep up the good work!!!! See you again in a couple of weeks. Oh, and I forgot something one time, Veronica called me personally to tell me she had put it back for me when we returned the next time, and it was there when I walked through the front door, very impressed with their honesty. Well done!!!
Have stayed at this hotel many times when visiting family and it has always been excellent. Breakfast is well stocked and nice variety. Definitely would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling and staying in Sacramento.
Every time I've stayed here the internet was weak and I could not stream videos on my phone nor laptop. The wait for check out was a while and my car was blocked in by service workers. Also the HDMI port behind the televisions are always difficult.
Recently I stayed at the Jay Johnson Best Western in Sacramento. Immediately from check I was not satisfied with the service that was provided. I had a rate that was quoted to me, but when I arrived the rate had changed. The rate was guaranteed, but they would not honor the rate. I ended up having to pay an additional $125.00 more for my stay. Unfortunately, I was not able to locate another hotel that would match the price. Another issue was the cleanliness of the room. Of course they did come in for their daily cleaning, but failed to wipe down the bedside tables. I had spilled my drink and cleaned it up, but there was an area that I missed. I left the stain in hopes that they would clean it, but to no avail. The elevator was out of service and had to use the stairs. Water pressure not good, vey low. I wanted to speak with the manager, but every time I asked, He was never available. All the staff could do was to leave him a message. Bedding was just a sheet and a thin, very thin blanket. Not enough to keep a person warm. Television remote not working properly. I expected the staff to be concerned with my issues, but did not even try to accommodate. I would never, ever stay at this location again, or any other Best Western. Horrible experience. Would never recommend this hotel for anyone, not even my dog!!!!!
Needed a place to stay while traveling. Chose this BW for access, location on our route and reviews. It's a small property in what appeared to be a developing industrial/shopping area. It was quiet, not far off the freeway and parking was not an issue. I agree that the water pressure is low, but our experience was that the room was clean and was adequate for our needs. Not a resort. It worked for us.
This place absolutely sucks. It feels like a motel. Maybe a notch up from a motel. Water pressure was low and cold. My room at stains in the carpet. Customer service is bad and uncaring. Would not recommend ever!
The staff was super friendly but the place was just so so. Bed was not great. No quilt or much bedding two sheets and a super thin blanket. TV remote didn't work. I walk to a nearby store in the afternoon only to be propositioned by several guys. I won't be walking again. In fact it's not likely I would come here again alone. Nice staff is about all I can say
Really enjoyed the room, and being able to work in the living room area while spouse slept comfortably behind a closed door. Pillows are better than usual for a Best Western. All in all a great, if short, stay.
I try to stay at Best Western's when I can because I usually find them fairly priced for the accommodations. This older hotel is in need of a complete renovation. The lobby and check in area was uninviting, the rooms and corridors very worn, and the "breakfast" one of the skimpiest. If I am in the area again, this will not be my choice of hotels.
This hotel was clean, The beds were comfortable. The room was quiet. This hotel was close to HI way 99 and easy to get too. One of the most interesting things about this hotel was it's free breakfast...There was a lot of variety but most of food was in TV tray type breakfasts in the refrigerator. I have never seen that before. Even the waffles where in the refrigerator. This was ok if you like that cuisine. If not there was fresh fruit and cereal. This was a great place to stay!
it is good play to staying for trip to business, or something else..very comfortable in and out...meeting with friend and group excellent , clean, quiet, good location to exit...it is good for holidays or pleasure when you need a place on your business,.
We stayed here on a business trip because it was close to the job site. It was a nice place to come back to for the evening. The hotel is close to the freeway and close to stores and restaurants. Just minutes from the Capital.
Arrived at the hotel, looked nice outside. Walked in to a warm hotel. Checked in and went to our room on the second floor, opened the door and let the heat out !You could feel the heat coming out before we went in. Immediately turned on the air, dropped luggage and went to the tournament. Came back later that night, with dinner. Finished half of it and went to put in mini fridge only to find left over food from the previous guests. Rooms were quite, no noisy neighbors which was good ! Over all, don't think we will stay again unless everything else is booked
They had us on the top floor with two windows facing a lovely tree and one of the most comfortable king sized beds I've slept in. We've stayed here several times and I think this has been the best stay so far.
Enjoyed our stay here and although it was not near to the places we wanted to visit in Sacramento it was comfortable and quiet. The lady (I think her name was Chris) at check in was very friendly and went out of her way in helping us with directions to places we wanted to go and see, restaurants and where to shop. Our room was quite comfortable, neat and clean.
I had left a cash deposit because the night before my credit cards had been stolen so i was told that they would have to check the room at time of check out before refunding me my deposit. totally understandable. What I should have done is have them take inventory before I occupied the room which they didn't. Manager had the audacity of making an accusation that a wash cloth was missing at time of check out in front of a full lobby. WHO DOES THAT!!! i had never felt so embarrassed and degraded.
Bad from beginning to end... Poor service at the check in. TV had pop ads on it all night. Never found the FREE HBO channel offered. Kids on the floor above running up & down the hallways until after 11 pm. Room smelled of mildew. Horrible breakfast choices and what was there was of poor quality.
They did not inform us when we checked in that they had issues with ants in the room. When we told them there were ants in our room they said that they knew there were ants in some of the rooms but they had not heard that our room had ants. They gave us $30.00 off the bill for the inconvenience because we have AAA and had already received a discount
We picked this hotel on the fly over the phone with BW on our way down from Oregon and accepted the terms like not being able to cancel once we reserved the room. Not a great place to stay since BW has other properties in town in better neighborhoods. The owners have renovated it and it did look nice though. The room wasn't air conditioned when we went in so it was hot, then there was the strong odor of air freshioner which we hate. Under the air freshenor was an odor of cigarettes which was odd since it's a non smoking hotel so I guess a guest lit one up. Very small breakfast area with only frozen packaged goods to microwave. The management claims they are only licensed to provide that type of food by the city so we don't blame them for that. When the 1 toaster and the 2 microwaves are going at the same time the circuit providing power trips so the one desk clerk has to go and reset it. I can imagine when it gets busy how many times it gets reset! We stay at BW because we like them and 8 times out of 10 it is a nice stay. I would maybe stay somewhere else next time I'm in Sacramento...
We were very happy with our stay, enjoyed the hot tub and the room. The internet was great even with 3 of us using it, no perceived lag. Note: They are only allowed to sell pre-packaged foods for breakfast, so no "make-your-own" waffles, only toaster ones. That said, they had a really nice array of options including several great protein options, including a non-GMO/organic breakfast burrito with meat. I'd definitely stay there again.
Need better communication with the staff . This is not the hotel I will stay again and would not recommend to a friend .I rather stay at Holiday Inn or Hampton Inn . The staff should be trained properly .
We stayed on a recent business trip, and were very satisfied. The hotel is convenient to the freeway, yet quiet. The rooms are clean, staff friendly and accommodating, the breakfast adequate, and the price reasonable. It checks all the boxes.
Excellent hotel at an excellent cost. The staff was very amiable and willing to address any difficulties we found at the time of checking in. We needed to find a Wal Mart store in Sacramento, and the person at the front desk explained to us, even drawing a map to help us get there. The location of this hotel is very convenient, just off Hwy 99 in California.
Don't know the employee's name that helped us at 3am on June 21,2016 but she went above and beyond the call of duty. We had an emergency and she called an ambulance for us when I thought my husband was having a stroke. She directed the paramedics to our room. It turns out my husband had a severe drop in blood sugar and the employee provided us with food and orange juice to help bring his blood sugar back up. She aided in saving his life. She was more than willing to do what she could to help and remained calm throughout the entire experience.
Our stay was very pleasant. The staff at the John Jay Inn are very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are very clean and well maintained. We stayed 2 times at this hotel and found the same results.
A pleasant surprise for a hotel in South Sacramento. The hotel appears to be pretty new. It is immaculately clean...The rooms, pool, and laundry area. Front desk staff was very nice and accommodating. The continental breakfast was pretty average for a 2-3 star hotel. They had little frozen breakfasts that we microwaved in our room. I'd definitely stay here again when I'm in town.
We had two rooms reserved for a two day meeting. I should have known this would not go well when the hotel called at 2:45p on the day of my reservation they called to say the key card maker was broken and asked if we wanted to change our reservation to another hotel. Since it was short notice and we weren't familiar with the area, we needed to keep our reservations. We both needed to ask the front desk to let us into our rooms every time we left. However, the guy was really nice and apologetic, you'd think a chain that large would have resources for when this happened. I overheard them say it had been broken for two weeks, but it should be back from repairs "today" . There were mysterious spots on the floor in my room. The day we arrived there was a garbage can in the hallway collecting water falling from the ceiling. I wouldn't walk around the neighborhood alone. And other reviews address the breakfast. All in all,not the worst stay, but it left us with plenty of stories for when we get home.
As usual for California, a nice welcome at reception. Rooms are clean, spacious and comfy. The hotel is situated a bit out of town as in more than a walk but for the price that is no cause for complaint.
Everyone is so helpful and nice here! The room which we stayed in was great. Big and spacious and clean. The breakfast although not great was good. They had a lot of choices that were nice touches...Tabasco and Nutella packets...Oikos Greek Yogurt was awesome. We were able to relax and unwind which was wonderful after a day in the city. The bed was a bit hard and hurt my back a bit. We will stay here again.
Very clean, friendly staff, ample parking. Room was large and bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good, lots of food choices from yogurt, oatmeal, eggs and sausage, waffles, etc. Would stay again, close to freeways and shopping.
Our stay here was fantastic, The hotel is very clean, the staff is very professional and the amenities were great, I would recommend this Hotel to anyone who wants a clean peaceful, and enjoyable nights sleep.
I will always look to stay at a Best Western when the need arises. I have Best Western to be most consistent with the quality of service one would expect from a leader in the hotel chain industry. I will continue to recommend Best Western whenever possible and am anxious for my next stay!
This place is not a safe place. Also there is no security camera at parking lot. We stay one night here and next morning we found our car window broken and lot of my important stuff stolen. I talked the front desk since this happened at their property. They told me it is not their responsibility. We booked this hotel because the Best Western name. We used to stay this hotel when we travel. So I do not recommend to stay here.
A convenient location . Great hotel. Great breakfast. Big, clean room and very comfortable bed. Fabulous pool and Jacuzzi. Excellent value. Will definitely stay again when I am in the Sacramento area.
The staff was very kind and friendly. We didn't care so much for the breakfast. The "hot" breakfast was frozen meals that could be heated in the microwave. They were high quality food items, but processed and salty.
I stayed there for 4 nights. The room is good size & clean but the door must used the force to close completely. Most of breakfast items are frozen box unless if you just need basic breakfast. Only 1 complain: I booked 4 nights for $409.80, I did not pay attention on the paper I signed, I found out later when I got back home that they charged $509.80 on my cc. I called my cc to report this fraud.
I liked the hotel, room & staff. The staff was very pleasant and helpful with everything. But I have to agree with the other reviews regarding breakfast. Do not go out of your way for it! Nescafe is not coffee! and why they do not have waffles, of anything fresh is beyond me? The hotel is a good value for the area, but if you like coffee, best to bring your own, and don't forget the little filters!
Fortunately there is a Starbucks down the road if you want real coffee instead of Nescafe. Other than that the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff is pleasant. Not sure why this BW does not have waffles, all the others seem to?
This hotel is conveniently located by the freeway, has very clean, spacious rooms, A table and two chairs are in the room. The breakfast included an incredible number of choices which you pop in the microwave. There were: 2 kinds of yogurt, 3 cold cereal choices, 2 kinds of instant oatmeal, 3 kinds of prepackged burritos, egg/sausage/cheese entrees, bagels/cream cheese, sweet rolls, oranges and apples, coffee - regular and decaf, white bread for the toaster, jams and peanut butter, a dispenser with 2 kinds of juice/vitamin water/vanilla iced coffee, Staff is very helpful and friendly.
We were passing through so the hotel was just fine. The breakfast was very disappointing. This is not the fault of the hotel as apparently they are required to have all food pre-packaged. One presumes this is for health reasons although the health of the environment also affects the health of people so this is a very short-sighted ruling.
I have stayed in many Best Western Hotels, and have come to expect a full hot breakfast prepared in a real kitchen. Instead I found packaged breakfast bowls and muffin sandwiches in a refrigerator case that I had to microwave! I would have found a better meal at a drive-thru.
Had to go to Sacramento for some training and i had to stay at this hotel for one night. Overall it was okay, not to clean, not to dirty, mediocre nothing soo bad. However Joseline M the young lady that helped me this morning was a breath of fresh air. Very nice person to talk to very curteous made the place seem comfortable, pleasant, and warm. Over all a decent place.
This hotel was excellent in every respect except one....The food offered for breakfast was all packaged! Usually if there is not a good selection at least one could make a waffle, not so here, only packaged waffles here, Sausage and eggs nope, aunt Jemima, even individually packaged bread! evidently a city ordinance, and out of the hotel's hands. we would not stay here again for this reason. As I said, everything else was excellent.
The hotel property was very nice. Good sized rooms. The free breakfast was different in that they had refrigerated (or frozen?) breakfast choices you could microwave in addition to cereal and some pastries. The eating area was VERY SMALL. The best part of the hotel was the staff. They were very friendly and helpful!
Although the toilet was slow flushing, the service was very good and the Manager helped me register for the recent BW promotion. The breakfast selection was one of the most diverse and best I have experienced from a BW and elsewhere.
You like friendly motel personnel, this is the place to stay! When I had a need they came to my room in less than 10 minutes with a smile and a willingness to help. Best Western John Jay Inn, Sacramento, CA is a great place to stay. The location was a bit hard to get to, bit worth it for the cost of the room. You're 25 minutes from SAC International Airport, even less to Sleep Train Arena and so many other things to see and do.
Well......The check in was good and the staff friendly and pleasant. My wife and I arrived in the mid evening as I had a surgery appointment at 0530 in the morning. Our room was the worst we have ever stayed in in our travels. The phone did not work, no double check wake up call, the heater did not work, the carpet was dirty and the shower had NO pressure. The water literately fell out of the fixture. It was late and all I wanted to do was get to sleep so we did not ask for a room change (it was full anyway and we may have been put in a out of service room).
Stay here whenever we come up to Sacramento and find the service and room good as usual. Not having been here for the past 2 yrs the only change is the process food for breakfast. Almost all are wrapped and there's a small refrig for instant breakfast items. Next time if I can get my wife up early enough we would be dining out. Downgraded the rating primarily because they downgraded the food.
Room 114 was spotless, quite comfortable, very quiet. Staff was nice. Unfortunately, when I went into the bathroom in the morning I found a few teeny sugar ants on the bath mat draped over the top edge. When I put on my glasses and look into the tub I found more. I turned on faucet so I could wash the ants down the drain and hundreds of ants poured out of the faucet with the water! The train was so slow that the ants were able to walk out of the water as it accumulated in the tub. Most of them ended up drowning but the tub drainage was still slow enough that I couldn't get them all washed down so I stood at the back of the tub using the handheld shower device to clean myself before leaving for the day. I ask the receptionist to come to my room and she was mildly surprised, not grossed out as I imagined she should be, and stated "thank you for telling" her. I cannot imagine that this is the first time that ants we're visiting this room via the faucet in the tub.
My family booked a couple of rooms here and the front desk was really patient with us seeing how we have a huge group of 20. The rooms was really clean and comfortable. They were really accommendating and allow us to check in early. I will definitely books here again if I'm ever in town again. The only complaint I had was that there was a strong smell of odor. However I'm assuming it was from the cleaning. I did found a few ants in the bathroom when showering. Other than that everything was perfect.
My experience was great. The hotel staff was professional, welcoming and friendly and very helpful with question about the surrounding area and getting directions. I felt valued! My room was clean and comfortable. I would recommend this hotel! It's location off the freeway was very easy to access and easy to find. The next time I am in the area I will book this hotel again.
Last minute stay in Sacramento traveling from Los Angeles to Lake Tahoe. The room was large and comfortable, and the accommodations were nice. Breakfast was pretty sparse, but the coffee was good. I would definitely stay again if I was in the area for an evening.
Excellent service at check in and check out. Wifi worked perfectly, Water pressure in shower could have been stronger. Breakfast offerings pretty plain. I was travelling straight up I-5 and the hotel was further off the highway than expected but still easy to find and get back on the road in the morning. I was looking for a comfy place to lay my head for the night and that's what I got.
This is the place to stay! We needed to be close to South Sac Kaiser Hospital and this fit the bill. Staff was very polite and helpful. Very quiet. Beds comfortable. We will definitely stay again. The only thing I would suggest is a larger breakfast selection. It was more of a continental breakfast. As we are not familiar with the city, having the options of eggs, potatoes, etc., would have been helpful.
Just completed a one night stay while in Sacramento for business. It had began to rain so I called the front desk at 11am and asked if I could checkin early at 12. The woman at the front desk was very polite and helpful, letting me checkin early. I booked through hotels.com and selected the balcony room which also had a separate room for the bed and additional TV. The room was very large and comfortable. Very limited continental breakfast but a Burger King and Jack In the Box are at the corner. All the staff I encountered were awesome.
This motel was friendly, clean & quiet. Under new management all of the negative review issues have obviously been resolved. Everything in the room worked well the bathroom was spotless with plenty of towels. the room was serviced before we returned from our conference. Even though it was a Single King room there were two tables and three chairs to arrange for dining and work space or just comfortable sitting. The continental breakfast was well stocked with a generous variety of both food and beverage items. We are very pleased with this choice & will continue to look to Best Western as we drive coast to coast next month.
I always stay at the hotel, when I'm in the Sacramento area. The staff is always pleasant and professional. It has a very comfortable feeling. It almost like coming home, not quite, but almost. I've been coming here for about 2 or 3 years, and it's always the same staff greeting and at checkout, which gives it a much "homier" feeling.
Staff was extremely helpful and nice. Room was beautiful! Rate was very affordable! We'll be staying there again. Very quiet. Beds were really comfortable. Very close to Kaiser Permanente which is why we were there. Easy to find.
My family and I recently stayed in this hotel before flying out of Sacramento the next day. The staff was very polite and helpful, but the hotel needed a lot of help. the spa was out of order, and we had to be moved to three different rooms for problems from the television didn't work to the power was out in our second room. We were finally moved to an upgrade studio for our troubles. It was nice and we did not experience any problems with it. The beds and rooms were clean and comfortable, but pretty outdated. It was very hot in Sacramento and the air conditioners worked well except in the room without power. Like I said the staff was courteous and prompt with their reassigning us to ultimately a room that worked. Not my first choice in the future based on my last stay.
I have stayed in this hotel up to one month when I was on a temporary working assignment. I stay there when I travel there for meetings and conferences. It is a little out of the way but it sure is worth the money. They rooms are clean, in great repair and I love the decor. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you choose this great inn.
Nice king room with microwave and refrigerator. Bed was a little hard but we slept very well. Breakfast burritos to microwave, juice, muffins, waffles, juice and Nestea coffee - satisfactory for a quick getaway but not memorable. But hey! The price was super reasonable and when you're popping in for a quick night while traveling on, it definitely filled the bill. I hope no manager is disappointed with this review because this motel is better than average and we thoroughly enjoyed a peaceful night's rest in a quiet room - something I can't always say for a motel experience. Thank you BW!
Coming in from the airport at 11 pm, we needed a place to stay that's close to the freeway. We chose this hotel by reputation because on one hand Best Western is generally mid-class hotel and on the other there's a free breakfast. As we parked, the exterior is surprisingly charming just as it is on the interior. Based on the previous reviews and pictures, it seems like they've done quite a bit of improvements. The hallways, front desk and room were all clean and upgraded. We were informed that this hotel is 100% pet-friendly and smoke-free. We're not smokers nor did we have a pet so it didn't matter to us. Though we of stayed to spend the night, we had a great impression of this hotel. The service, amenities and rooms were all up to par. It was very close to the freeway and restaurants making it perfect for road travelers.
