The hotel tried to scam us with unauthorized charges to our credit card. After speaking to several managers at the hotel, a front desk person let it slip that we were charged for a missing hair dryer. This was quite laughable as my husband has no hair and mine is so long I can't use a hair dryer. I assured them we did not take the hair dryer. They refunded me the original $50 American put on my card, however, this does not cover the exchange fee my credit card charges for the transaction. I see no reason for me to pay the exchange fee for a foreign transaction that never should have been put on my card to begin with. I left several messages for Tacoma BW to call me back regarding the false charges. The last manager told me it had nothing to do with her and that I would need to speak to the other manager. She once again accused me of stealing and said it was a courtesy that they reversed any charges. I inquired and asked if they had looked into the previous guest that had stayed into the room, but apparently their housekeepers don't make mistakes and she accused me again of stealing a hair dryer. Any number of hotel staff including housekeepers, maintenance, security guards/concierges and of course managers inspecting the condition of the room could have taken an item and probably not for malicious reasons; An item may have needed cleaning or repair. An item may have been improperly installed. The list is almost endless. Obviously, I am not happy to be accused of theft. I did not take a hair dryer. It is unlawful to charge a credit card without the consumer knowing. The hotel never once tried to contact me. I wonder how many other people Best Western Tacoma have stolen from by placing false charges on credit cards? This review puts them on notice that I will not stand for them defaming, slandering or libeling my good name. I think this hotel practices should be reviewed, as false charges are stealing. Unless there's actual video footage of myself or someone else in my party removing property from the premises that's not yours, they're really out-of-line accusing you to begin with. Poor customer service, poor management and a poor hotel. I will not stay at this hotel again.
I like the Best Western chain because you know it's always going to be pretty good, sometimes very good, and every property is unique. This one was well above average and the price was $50 less than the competition across the street. Access to I-5 is fast and easy and yet the room was wonderfully quiet. The property is fresh and new (I was told 2 years old) and clean. There's ample parking, although you need to pay attention with a full-size pickup. If you appreciate a morning run or walk, there's immediate access to the quiet neighborhood and nearby Wapato Park. I particularly recommend crossing the Pipeline Bridge that takes you along an elevated boardwalk up in the tree canopy. The rooms are spacious and efficient. The AC unit is quiet. The blackout shades are the best I've seen, something I really appreciated. Somehow, I never heard the mini fridge. I particularly liked the location of the fridge-microwave-coffee cove. And the staff are as friendly as it gets. Everyone was wonderfully helpful and they all seemed to be enjoying their jobs. I developed a rapport with one of the cleaning staff who was smiling and had a friendly reply every time I saw her. But there could be some improvements. Staying 8 nights, I appreciated the fitness room. But it doesn't open until 7! Like many guests, I enjoy an early morning workout, but that's not possible here. I was told it was to keep it quiet for the rooms upstairs. An easy fix would be to put some acoustic tiles on the ceiling. Breakfast was nicely thorough with all the standard fixings, and the biscuits and gravy was particularly good. And nicely done with the apples, not those bland and pulpy red delicious apples that many hotels provide. But they ran out of coffee! Four times! That was probably just as well as I tend to drink too much coffee, but this would have been a big deal for my wife. A simple fix would be to add a second hot pot of regular coffee. Ah, but if this is all I can complain about, I'm livin' large when I'm livin' here. The next time I'm in Tacoma, my hotel search will be an easy one.
Excellent Place to Stay. Needed a room suddenly because (other hotel chain) overbooked and left my family and I. stranded at 9:30pm. Everywhere else was booked, then Best Western Tacoma kindly came to the rescue and had a wonderful room for us. Hotel was clean and unexpectedly updated and modern. Gym facility was top notch. Breakfast was fresh and satisfying. Great value for the money too. Staff were always friendly and helpful. I am very grateful and absolutely recommend staying here if you need a hotel in the Tacoma area.
This hotel was bright and clean with excellent staff. The room was large and well designed. Breakfast was above average. I especially liked the sausage and the seasoning on the potatoes. There are several parks and many restaurants close by.
Clean, friendly and secure. Unfortunately, I think due to the extreme heat and summer weather we had some ants that entered our room. We had reported this Saturday afternoon as we were leaving for the second part of our conference. The front desk agent, Katey I believe was her name was amazing- said she would send someone up right away. When we came back to the hotel the original person I spoke to about the issue was no longer on shift. I had asked the front desk agent at that time ( i believe her name was Abigail) if she could check and see if anything had been done about the ant situation. She snapped back "i have no idea I just got here". Considering that the hotel was FULL and no other rooms were available, I was hoping that someone could just tell me if it got taken care of as I knew we weren't able to move rooms. I politely asked if she could check the room notes and see if anything was left on account. She looked i tup and replied "nope. nothing. is that all"..... Up until that interaction everything was great at Best Western. I stay at BW because I know what I am going to get with every hotel- they are unified and clean and organized and across the board the same. That desk agent, I am hoping was just having a bad day, but I was thoroughly disappointed in the lack of professionalism and courtesy that was shown.... Security of parking lot was good, availability of parking was good and the breakfast was amazing Thanks BW!
The manager Aaron of the hotel is terrible and discrimination. There are ants running on the tables near the microwave. I would not recommend this hotel.
Hard working staff; very clean and well-maintained! Service was top-notch! The room was also excellent; a Safe in the Room would be nice!
The hotel is right next to the freeway so it is convenient to get in and off the freeway. There are many restaurants and a grocery store nearby. Parking is minimal especially if you have a large vehicle.
We picked this hotel because we were told there was a secure, patrolled place to park your car. Not true. The hotel shares the parking lot with a very large Goodwill store, next to that is a huge strip club. We checked in and went to our room, the thermostat was stuck at AC 64F. We called down to get it fixed and were told no one was there to do that at the moment. We headed out for a bite. My husband dropped me off and opted to drive back to the hotel to get a parking space right at the front of the hotel so our car would be safe. As i was waiting the server at the restaurant went into detail how unsafe the entire area is, with multiple "smash and grabs" nightly despite multiple camera's EVERWHERE. That was it, we walked back to the hotel grabbed our stuff and left! Booked a room at the SilverCloud in Ruston for double the price. DO NOT STAY IN THIS AREA!!!
The hotel is very nice and comfortable. There are 2 slow charge EV chargers and a bit of cunfusion about using it, but it eventualy worked out. Don't completely count on it though. The location is convenient to the freeway, but not very attractive or exciting . Itw as perfect for an overnight stop. Excellent value for the money expecially when you include the full breakfast..
Nice clean new hotel property.. great breakfast buffet, kids loved the pool.. just needs a hot tub! The neighborhood is a bit sketchy but that's common everywhere nowadays. Will be back, thanks Best Western
This place is great! Arron does a great job. He cares for all his customers and teats them with respect. I honestly think this hotel is brand new. It has an upscale vibe to the hotel. I will definitely be back! Clean modern and hip. This property is a great example of what a future hotel looks like! We will be back!
Staff was friendly, room was clean and the beds were comfortable. My family and I really enjoyed the indoor pool, which was warm and clean. I also enjoyed the fitness center. Breakfast was good as well! We would definitely stay here again and recommend to others in the future.
During my 2 night stay, my hotel room door wasn't closing properly and snapped closed on my foot, severing the top part of my baby toe off. When I told the front desk, they were u concerned. The owner then showed up the next day and blamed me for the injury, saying the doors were not the issue. I asked for a night compensation as I had to go to urgent care and I'm not a US resident. He said no, but he would contact me in the next 24hrs about the issue. Never heard from him again. His name is Pinder and he is concerned about how his business looks, not the customer.
We were here for five nights. The room was very nice, but there was only a shower in it. Breakfast was included each morning. It was pretty good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Any time we had questions about anything, they were wonderful.
Front desk guy called me a liar. To which we found out he was completely wrong, he did apologize but he did it in front of other Guests which really pissed me off. Then the breakfast was so empty. I waited 30 minutes to get eggs sausage n some potatoes saturday.there was oy 1 girl doing breakfast for a sold out hitel for KIDS SPORTS.... Sunday 2 girls on breakfast. I asked for eggs at 9:20 she said she was done cooking for the day. When people book hotels especially for EARLY morning sports... Breakfast is a huge deal for our athletes. You basically had none. Staff not professional AT ALL. And then fridge in room broken. And no bathtub? NO PARKING spots. Like oh my goodness.
This Best Western was very nice and so close to so many restaurants, stores etc. We watched the Seahawks game (that was not so great) but the next morning the breakfast was very good.. There is a bar/restaurant we hope to check out next time we stay here.
Always a good experience here. Spotlessly clean and everything is still fairly new (this property was recently built). The surrounding neighborhood isn't great, but inside is an oasis and this location suits my needs perfectly. Good breakfast by the way, the only location I've been to that features biscuits and gravy!
Not a great neighborhood the price seems elevated compared to the experience beds were too firm and somewhat uncomfortable for the daily rate… the hotel bar was less then inviting it just lacked presence looks good on paper
Highly rocommended! Professional, helpful, and friendly staff.Great breakfast. Hotel was new and spotless. It's very obvious that the staff and owner take pride inproviding excellent service and facilities.
Excellent stay. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast with hot and cold options.Very nice room and the cleanliness was very nice! A good location for some shopping and waterfront dinner was within 15 minutes. Enjoyed our stay.
Manager will cancel your reservation in the middle of your stay without notice and not let you back in room to get your personal belongings. He has ZERO customer service skills, was rude, lied to us, refused to accept responsibility or accommodate us for our inconvenience.
My family and I stayed here for 4 nights and it was a wonderful experience. Front desk staff were very polite and welcoming. The hotel was clean, modern and safe. Beds were comfortable, the air conditioning was cold and the room was very clean. Room was cleaned daily. Gym and pool area was well maintained. Hot and tasty breakfast was provided every morning- eggs, potatoes, bacon, turkey sausage, biscuits and gravy, waffles, hot and cold cereal, yogurt, bagels, sliced bread, croissants, muffins and fresh fruit. Highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again whenever I'm in town.
We stayed here for 2 nights during a lacrosse event. The hotel was easy to access, with many things close by. We felt safe at the hotel and in the surrounding area. There was lots of parking. The hotel itself is brand new. Our room was clean, bed comfortable and had everything we needed. The lobby area had coffee, hot chocolate and tea available 24 hours for free. A nice perk. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I would choose this hotel again with my family or with a team.
The front desk worker was extremely kind. We were sight seeing Tacoma for the weekend with two children and stayed at the hotel one night. The swimming pool and breakfast were amazing. The beds were extremely comfortable.
Probably the nicest best western I've ever stayed at. Most best westerns are usually old and kind of a dump but this one was the first brand new one I've ever seen. I'm used to staying at holiday inn express and for the first time ever a best western was on the same level.
We were in shock over the amount of single-use plastic at this location. Everything from the coffee in the rooms (plastic cups) to the packaged chemical powder creamer/sugar/plastic stir sticks so if you just wanted a napkin you had to open the entire package which meant the rest would go in the garbage. Breakfast was the same. One time use throw away paper plates!, plastic utensils!, plastic coffee and juice cups, plastic wrapped mass produced muffins, sugary snacks, sugary "juice", etc. In the end the recycling bin was empty while the garbage can was sadly overflowing with all this waste. The food quality was also cheap. Aside from the extreme mis-match between the nicer hotel decor seen in photographs and the plastic camping dining experience - the sheer amount of waste produced from just our stay, let alone a hotel full of guests over the course of a year or more, and perhaps across the entire chain (?) - saddened us tremendously. We heard guests at the next table say that this was typically American, but I have to say here that this was not at all our experience at other hotels in this state or the next. In other words, the competitors are doing far better on this front. That's why we'll be booking at a different chain next time.
We were on our way to seattle and needed some rest before continuing from LA. This place popped up and was available. Now I see why. There was a lot of homeless people wandering and it also has a bad smell around the premises. Staff is friendly and inviting. rooms were clean but there was a bullet hole on out window on the 3rd floor. Needless to say, we were tired and needed some rest, so we slept on the floor in-between the mattresses. I couldn't sleep all night. Although there was a security armed with a gun and knife (that was a first for us) we still felt off. The "hot" breakfast was cold and the pool was not clean. A murky yellow color to the water. We left ASAP!!
We stayed here for a night to attend a youth baseball event. Super happy that we booked this hotel vs other ones around there. We booked directly on Best Western website as an award member. Got the best rate. The location is easy to get to. Clean and safe area. Some folks mentioned the Goodwill store in the front having homeless people hanging around. We didn't see any of that. Only one or two homeless men were in the back next to the neighboring hotel. Checking in and checking out were fast and friendly. Plenty of parking. Newer property, so lots of great things to mention. Clean and spacious room with lots of towers and storage. Oh super clean carpets. I wore my white socks and was surprised to see they didn't turn brown like other hotels. Breakfast was really good with biscuits and gravy, eggs, breakfast sausages, bacon, MYO waffles, and other assortment of Cheerios, drinks, etc. You won't be hungry. The dining room was clean and spacious. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a good stay for your money.
We had cancelled 1 night of our 2 night stay and they said I never did call and the would not refund my money. Horrible customer service will NEVER stay here again!!!!! Find a different hotel. Aaron the gm does not know how to take care of business!
Very clean room and friendly staff love to stay here all the time with my husband. Convenient location it close to everything we recommend it and its very affordable with all they have ,breakfast is good
New building, at the perfect location for us. Very friendly staff with lots of knowledge about area restaurants etc. Comfortable lobby with a bar and breakfast area. Not a huge pool but great for kids. Small but well-appointed workout room. Will definitely be back.
Dirty and no amenities (pool, workout room), but the advertise them and have pictures in there website. When you ask for manger they are never available and you won't get a call back. And there was a horrid migraine inducing smell that I this was supposed to be air freshener though out the entire hotel!
Great rooms, very comfortable and clean. Wonderful continental breakfast in the morning. Everything was great. only concerns the employees seemed hardened and untrusting most likely due to the fact its not in a good part of town.
I liked this hotel they Have a very clean rooms, bathroom and breakfast area where everything was excellent, sometimes when you go inside some hotel rooms you would smell some cigarettes or smells of weed even where you're not supposed to smoke but not this hotel, It smelled fresh and super clean And everything was super shiny and comfortable inside the room! the windows were clean with no hands printed on them, and the price was completely reasonable!
Very nice and new hotel but the surrounding area is filled with homeless and very active open drug dealings. During the night we were woken several times with people yelling and loud bangs that sounded like firecrackers but very well could have been gun shots
This location was very conveniently located for attending a show at the Tacoma Dome. Limited parking. Great breakfast and very friendly staff. The rooms were clean and the bed was the most comfy bed that singable slept in at any hotel in recent memory.
First night here my truck got its catalytic converter cut out from a parking spot the hotel security told me I had to park in while under surveillance cameras when I went to the manager of the hotel instead of compensating me he gave me a lecture on the US failing as a country compared to the country he migrated from. I booked this hotel because it's advertised as nice online with pictures and all but in the photos online they failed to add in the tent city of homeless camped out in the parking lot every night and day and the prostitution that happens in the sex shop parking lot in the same plaza as the hotel. AVOID HOTELS IN TACOMA THIS ONE ESPECIALLY!!
This is a new property and it is clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is decent (it actually tastes like food) and the rooms are clean and comfortable. This property is flanked on 2 sides by a homeless camp. It's sad these folks have no where else to go but the trash and noise outside the property at night don't make for a good nights sleep and not exactly inviting to walk through. Upon arrival the doors were locked and I had to wait for a staff person to notice me to open the door so I could check in. I would not stay here again.
Just an excellent stay at this new Best Western property! The customer service was excellent and the staff just so friendly! I do see some of the other reviews that noted the homelessness in the area which obviously is a challenging situation. We did feel that the immediate area was quite secure and didn't encounter an problems. Beds were top notch too!
Homeless people. Break ins everywhere. DON'T STAY IN ANY HOTELS IN AREA. On top of that no swimming pool even though says they have on website. Manger is awful, tool forever to get a hold of them. No crib or extra bed. Very dirty hotel. Machines out of service everywhere. Best Western should be ashamed of themselves to put there name on this. Could hear people on floor above me. Looks good until you get in your room. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
Will not be booking with this place again they would not give us a discount because some of the stuff wasn't able to use like the pool there breakfast was ok they need to train to cook the food properly. And management should do the dirty work not the staff step up to the plate
One of the worst experiences I've had in 30+ years of travel, including 100+ nights at hotels yearly. The hotel refused to honor the rate booked directly through BW's website. I presented valid identification as listed in the rate terms, and they claimed that there was additional documentation required to receive the rate. The front desk agent admitted these requirements were only visible to them (so how is a guest supposed to know they are required). The only solution they could provide was allowing me to cancel (now that I've arrived at the hotel) or pay a much higher nightly rate. Instead of accepting this form of extortion, we opted to go find alternate accommodations, happily paying more to stay elsewhere. Follow-up requests for a response from hotel management, and Best Western have gone unanswered. It should also be noted that they continue to sell this rate without disclosing any further requirements. Unbelievable!
I recently came to Washington unexpectedly. Before my trip I spent an hour online searching places to stay. I am so happy I chose the Best Western Plus in Tacoma. The hotel itself is very nice- clean rooms (and great smelling, even the hallways), nice gym, breakfast every morning. The staff was wonderful. Each one of them went above and beyond. They were very friendly and I was always spoken to every time I walked past the front desk. I did take off one point for location. There isn't a whole lot in the immediate area and as I was there without transportation, it would have been nice to have a little more within walking distance. There were a few fast food places down the block and in this day and age with all the delivery services it wasn't a reason I wouldn't stay here again in the future. All in all it was a great stay and I will book here again for my next trip.
Me and my family had a great time, the price was great and the rooms were nice and clean and they felt relax just to be in. The beds were nice and comfy so we slept great too. Definitely would come back again, and if we do go to visit family we know where to go.
I really liked this hotel. I truly wanted to give it a five-star review because it was so beautiful. The hotel is new, thus the pool was not yet operating. I was horrified and disgusted when I looked through a hotel window and saw street people with tents and garbage everywhere. When I asked a receptionist about it, her comment was that the management was trying to do something about cleaning up the street by the hotel. People should not be allowed to “check in” next to the hotel in this way. We loved our room, the check-in process, and the breakfast. Everything would have been perfect if it had not been for the items I mentioned above.
I love a new hotel! This property has been opened for less than six months and it's great to experience new, pillow top beds, brand new linens and well thought out rooms. I really appreciate the extra space for luggage, the great shower and nice bath products. The room was comfortable and quiet. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The only negative is the location. It is a rough area and certainly not a place you could ever go for a nice early morning or late evening stroll. This is no fault of the hotel and certainly some thing I hope the city is working hard to resolve.
We arrived from overseas and drove south stumbled across this hotel. From the first walk through the door we were warmly greeted by the staff .a brother and sister. Our room was brand new so very comfortable limbed and spacious room The breakfast was great. the chef cooked the bacon to our satisfaction! Nice selection of teas We would definitely recommend
First thought.. WOW. Best Western has really stepped up their game over the last few years. 2022 build, just opened a few weeks ago. I've never stayed at a more beautiful hotel. Comfy beds, nice clean rooms, 24 hour coffee service and a wide variety hot continental breakfast. Top of the line fitness center.. pool and bar weren't open yet but hopefully next time I come back! Can not recommend enough!!
The hotel is brand new so its very clean at the moment, we stayed in a double queen and the room was perfect. Customer service was also great, the check in and checkout process was very quick and easy. Also, the complimentary breakfast tasted great and there was a very good variety. Overall, we enjoyed and stay and we are looking forward to coming back!
