"Can't use pool after checkout time"
Hopefultraveller888, 01 Avril 2024

Disappointing that can't use pool after the checkout time, even though we booked a 'swim and stay' package ! Have done this at Barton Manor and many other hotels before- I think this rule should be made clear in the booking conditions or upon check in.

"Works conference"
T1398KKnicolaw, 26 Mars 2024

We hired the Barton Manor Hotel function room for a works conference. The room was beautifully presented and of a very high standard. Souvik Swapnil and his colleagues were extremely helpful and attentive, ensuring that we had all of the necessary equipment for presenting and that everything was in working order. Refreshments and delicious shortbread biscuits also well presented at break time. Would recommend and use again

"Excellent afternoon tea"
marg67_11, 23 Mars 2024

Had an amazing afternoon tea. Plenty of food which was good quality served by lovely restaurant staff who were very attentive and friendly. It was very good value and I would definitely go again and would recommend it to my friends and family.

"Outstanding customer service"
Claire W, 17 Mars 2024

I attended a conference with Blackburn Diocese on 23rd/24th February and enjoyed a wonderful overnight stay. My room was beautiful, the food was excellent and the staff were all extremely polite, attentive and helpful. At my evening meal I had to leave the table as I started to have a coughing fit and one of the waiters (Jamie) came to check if I was okay. I was feeling quite anxious but he went to get me some water, stayed with me, reassured me and kept me calm. Exceptional customer service.

"Acceptable hotel"
Maldoc, 29 Février 2024

One night stay to meet up with friends. Room well equipped. Walk in shower, no bath. Tea and coffee with fresh milk. Dressing gowns but no slippers. Heating and air con via wall unit worked via a remote control. We used the pool, which was basic, and only two heated uncomfortable concrete loungers. No jacuzzi. Nice bar area and dining room. Food variable. Some of the meals were very good but others not. Ordered breakfast in the room by filling out the form in and hanging outside the room, but it wasn't picked up. Got a very vague apology. All in all a very typical Best Western, only good in parts.

"Rude and unhelpful reception."
catfletch, 21 Avril 2022

I booked a night away for my sister and brother-in-law for a 40th birthday present. I used a reliable online booking site, paid and received confirmation. On arrival at the hotel the guests were greeted by a rude and unhelpful receptionist who told them that there was no booking despite them showing him confirmation. He made no attempt to help them sort the issue. The guests left and drove home without a second thought from the hotel about what had gone wrong or any consideration for the long journey back. I spoke to the online site who were very helpful. Could the hotel not have done this? Why use such a site when you have no intention of collaborative working? I have emailed on 5 occasions and received no reply hence my review on here. I chose this hotel as I thought it had a good quality reputation. If you need a night away avoid at all costs as they are likely to turn you away without a second thought.

"Perfect"
Michael A, 14 Avril 2022

Service was exceptional, never had to wait for food or drinks, facilities and rooms were all extremely clean and tidy and staff were all very professional yet approachable and friendly. Great nights sleep, very comfortable and quiet. Thankyou

"The last time"
vijg2018, 07 Avril 2022

I have stayed at this hotel for a total of 6 weeks since November 2021. I return because the staff are really friendly and the location is perfect for my business meetings in North Preston and there is little else. However, the hotel is tired. Its old and groans and buzzes with ancient air ducting systems. Cupboard doors don't close, the baths tub is scarred from years of use. The cleaning is poor and I have had to ask for a hoover to be run in the corridors and in my room. The food has been the same for 5 months and is unimaginative stodge. Tonight is the third night that I have called down to reception to ask them to stop the partying in adjacent rooms, it is currently midnight. Reception does not pick up. The staff are lovely here but it is not enough to make me ever stay again.

"Wedding 2022"
Chloe B, 30 Mars 2022

We came to Barton Manor for a Wedding the weekend of Mother's Day. The staff were brilliant from start to finish to ensure the wedding ran smoothly. The food was amazing both wedding breakfast and breakfast!!! All waiters/waitresses/bars staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was OK we did book late on but it wasn't a reflection on the price we paid. Overall it was a lovely weekend and I'll be coming back.

"No Rewards Welcome - they don't honour all rewards program details - I'd recommend avoid at all costs"
m m, 25 Mars 2022

Am a Best Western Platinum Rewards Member. Booked this hotel for break for my wife and I for Mother's Day. Travelled over 200 miles and asked for complimentary late check out on booking for. Rang evening before booking in, very helpful gentleman - confirmed complimentary room upgrade. Said check late check out when we check in with reception. On booking in was asked to pay for both nights in advance. Refused. I was told this was the hotel policy !! Paid 1st night and had credit card pre authorised for 2nd night. On checking £200 taken - more than entire stay!! Also, was asked to pay £20 for late check out that should be complimentary- refused outright. Appalling as should be complimentary. I booked this hotel as it has a gym and spa and we could use these and check out late - this request was made clear on the booking form booked through Best Western App. Attitude a reception appalling. No rewards member recognition at all and I've Never been asked to pay in full in advance before - and I'm a worldwide traveller - card & pre authorisation always been ok. As a Platinum Rewards customer with nearly 200,000 points, my history is visible on their system. A final point, ny wife wanted a robe for the fitness / pool area. The unhelpful reception lady said no, she could have one or even hire one. A call the Best Western HQ and a robe was provided, but I expect I'll be charged for it !! Some very pleasant staff members and good breakfast, but the Reception welcome / issues / no complimentary late check out / robe issue AND THe ATTITUDE AT RECEPTION on booking in, means I'll never stay here again. Hate to complain. I was brought up in this industry where I learnt paying guests should be treated as valued customers - not the attitude here, unfortunately. When I return home I intend to lid a complaint with Best Western direct as this is supposed to be one of their signature hotels !

"Disappointing"
WillMakin, 12 Mars 2022

Very disappointing. We visited about five years ago and had a wonderful meal in a very busy restaurant. This time the place was nearly empty and the food could only be described as ‘McDonalds for grown ups', everything fried or grilled, sauces out of bottles served with bits of salad. The room we had was lovely but there were no toiletries, drinks were limited to three tea gags and four coffee pots to fit the machine and no instructions for the Bluetooth speakers. The WiFi was intermittent at best and made using my iPad very frustrating. The staff tried to help but to no avail. Sad to see what was once a destination restaurant reduced to this, and the hotel sinking too. Would we go again? No……

"Disgraceful greed towards critical services."
Sherpa47948382764, 18 Décembre 2021

Paid the final payment to then be advised they had catered for 220 people ( in the Barton suite which their website states caters for 150 seated) we were advised by our infection control that due to the current situation and for sustainability of a critical NHS Service that we should not attend this event due to the risks. We did not expect our deposit back however regardless of terms and conditions we would have at least expected them to act reasonably regarding the circumstances, especially being NHS workers. Upon contacting the venue to explain the situation and the advice we had been given we were simply sent a copy of their terms & conditions, with no alternative offered and bluntly told no refund will be honoured and they were retaining the entire amount. We find this totally unreasonable in the circumstances, they have showed no empathy and no care at all. Despite this and although this venue will never again be considered on a professional or personal level we wish all the staff a safe and happy Christmas and New Year.

"Lovely stay"
Nicolette D, 27 Novembre 2021

"Army reunion"
sunjim44, 16 Novembre 2021

This was our first visit to this hotel. It was a one night stay to celebrate Rememberance weekend. An excellent 3 course dinner with coffee and mints. The food was delicious and I could have earen it again. However, when we retired to bed, I had the worse nights sleep ever, or should I say non sleep. The room was lovely, coffee and tea supplied plus bottled water. The bed I'm sorry to say was so hard I couldn't get any sleep at all. I have never had such a firm bed in any hotel prior to this. We left early without having breakfast as I needed to get home and go to bed. Needless to say I will not stay overnight here again.

"Avoid room 4!!!"
2Wanderingbears, 16 Novembre 2021

Booked a stay and dine package in an Executive room. Having stayed in an Executive room a number of times previously (always allocated room 1 which is the one shown on the website), I was shocked when opening the door of room 4. This is absolutely not an Executive room!! I'd stayed in a standard room a few weeks previously and had the hotel not been full, I would have insisted on moving into one of these. The decor was appalling - old, scratched, dusty and mis-matched furniture. Cobwebs in corners of the room and on the ceiling light. Top of headboard was thick with dust, as were bedside lamps. Bedside table was like an artefact from jumanji, and also thick with dust. The cleaner clearly hoovers around the furniture and makes no attempt to hoover under the tables/bed as the carpet underneath was visibly dirty. Very heavy, tapestry throw on bed which is clearly not washed between guests - appalling given the COVID situation, just remove it. No fluffy robes, radio or luxury toiletries as advertised. Very poor 4G in the area and hotel WiFi is shockingly poor. Used the swimming pool - that was ok but sauna was only luke warm. Went for a shower on leaving pool and none of the usual shampoo/body wash in any cubicle. Having stayed at Barton Manor/Grange about a dozen times, we both agreed it will be our last until a full refurbishment is done. Had we not have been attending a reunion we would have checked out and gone straight home.

"Lovely stay!!"
619bethanyl, 13 Novembre 2021

Me and my partner stayed for one night as a last minute get away. Could not fault it! Room was nice, spa and pool were absolutely amazing! Nice and quite, just really relaxed. First time we have been relaxed in a long time! Staff were all very friendly and always there to help. I can't comment on the food as we didn't eat at the hotel but we will definitely be coming back again! The only small problem was the taxi card reception gave us to use as we asked what number was best to call a taxi. After trying to ring for more than half an hour we didn't get though to anyone. In the end we Google taxis in the area and ended up with 4bee's !! He was great very friendly and on time. Overall we had a lovely stay and can't wait to come back.

"Terrible....Mould & Dirt!!!"
Mjb20188, 08 Novembre 2021

We book the Gate House Suite for my wife's birthday. I was told this was a newly decorated suite! First impressions looked good. However, we soon discovered that the room had not been cleaned properly and the bed had not been changed from the previous guests!! We reported this straight way to the housekeeping manager and he said he would sort and get back to me in 5 minutes with a plan. 30 minutes later still waiting for him to back to us. I went to find him and he said he was going to get the room cleaned again and bed changed. Nearly an hours he said it was done and we thanked him. We went to try and get back into the room and key card now did not work, so had to got back reception and get that fixed. Finally got back in room and found the following disgusting dirt - * Mould growing on 2 skirting boarding. * Think dust still under the bed side table (very visual - not moving any furniture) * Mould on window frame and window sill. * Dead fly on window sill (After 2nd clean) * Broken sink tap. * Dirty drinking glass (lipstick on it) * Food bits on carpet * Cobwebs on inside of door frame. * Hand sanitiser wall dispenser in Reception and outside of Toilets by restaurant disgustingly dirty. Reception Manager said not sure why as every normally clean!! I did NOT stay after this and got a full refund. My wife was gutted as it was her birthday treat.

"Luxury by 20th century standards"
527benh, 29 Octobre 2021

It has taken a month for me to calm down from, quite frankly, a horrid experience at this hotel. I stayed the night before my wedding day in the hope that a pleasant sleep would best be found at a (so-called) luxury hotel. How wrong I was! The room was in many ways the standard of a typical hotel in the bigger cities of the country, despite costing £150 for the night. During the night, I was awoken at 1am by a deafening groan from downstairs, which lasted about 40 mins. Angry, and tired, I went down to investigate to find a staff member dragging tables and chairs along a wooden floor. He was unapologetic. The breakfast was buffet style, which in many ways sums up the hotel and its standards: it relies on its local reputation rather than innovation to survive. If you want a luxury stay - by the standards of 1997 - then consider this hotel. If not, stay well away.

"Awful"
Mooke007, 25 Octobre 2021

Unfortunately I found the stay terrible and far from worth the £150. Looks like you do a big of false advertising on your page. Let's star with my check in I paid for stay wine and dine when I asked reception wot time dinner was she reply's I will book you in and you can pay in the morning. I reply it's all in with the price after a few minutes of her arguing with me and me showing her my resivation she finally accepted it. The room wasn't wot I expected for the price no tea coffee or sugar never mind the well stocked complimentary tray that dint even exist. Had to ask reception for tea coffee and sugar there reply was come back later. For £150 I would expect it now!!! Had to ask the cleaners for some. Still no sugar of coffee at that point we gave up . Now on to the room net curtains dint fit windows and was that creased with holes in. Bathroom was dirty room was cold. At this point dint feel like going back to reception as they proved they dint care. Pool was freezing. Now on to the meal gravey full of pepper roasted potatoes very hard like golf balls. Got up at 3pm to go for a cigarette no one on reception used phone to dial 0 it wasent working knocked on office door no answer. Looking all over for staff after 10 mins I had to go behind reception and use there phone then a male came out of the office very unfriendly. If there was a fire we couldn't of got out the front door. The noise on the second floor was discusting all night banging doors people running up and down corridors. £150 to be kept awake in a dirty room

"Horrendous"
W1481NOlauriea, 19 Octobre 2021

Absolutely horrendous! Me and my boyfriend booked a 1 night stay in this hotel for after our camping trip to treat ourself to a nice hotel stay and a spa experience after camping, first of all we got there early and asked was there somewhere to get food and chill before we could check in and the woman on the desk with blond hair was very unhelpful and rude and told no where was open so we found somewhere ourselves to get food, we then come back at 1.30 check in was 2pm and another young lady told us we could check in as the room Was ready then the same rude blond lady come over and said we couldn't and made the the young lady check the Room was ready even though it said on the computer it was ready she was just making it awkward because she dosnt like checking people in early (her words) we then got a key to a house in the middle of the car park not in the hotel, we was unhappy with this and asked for a room in the hotel and we was happy to pay extra. The original room was £120 and we paid a extra £30 £150 in total. Then to our surprise the room was absolutely awfull it was a old fashioned room with the most uncomfortable hard squeaky bed, spiders all over the room the wallpaper coming of the walls and the toilet didn't flush properly, we rang Down and asked again to be moved this was a lot for us because we are not ones to Complain we was told there was nothing we can do we even offered to pay more and we even asked for the room in the car park as it was that bad to be told no it was off the market. We then made the decision to check out and drive 1hr 30 mins back home again it was that bad. As we was checking out we explained to them the situation and then all of a sudden we was allowed the room in the car park back but we had already made our decision to leave and packed the car up. When we got home we rang Booking.com to complain and get a refund and the hotel as refused our refund so now booking.com have said it's down to us to get a refund from them. I contacted the hotel yesterday and still waiting for a manger to ring back. I will not be giving up until I get my refund from this horrible hotel that we didn't even spend the night in.

"Amazing"
britguy0, 17 Octobre 2021

We stayed one night with friends, our room was spacious clean and modern, could not fault it. pool was lovely and clean, GHD straightners and hairdryer, sauna, steam room excellent. Evening meal and breakfast was lovely and staff were great. A lady named Zainab was covering reception and bar, I must say she was oustanding, nothing was too much trouble, we sat in the bar and obsevered her dealing with many guests, she was polite, courtious and very professional, what a star, an asset to Barton Manor, we will definately return. Mr and Mrs McGreal

"Shocking rip off poor service"
Customerfeedback145, 13 Octobre 2021

Son booked to stay tonight for two nights. Booked next week dates by mistake. Hotel refused to change dates even to move them forward to later in year no negotiation at all. He paid again to stay tonight and tried persuading them to give some leeway ... Whenever they have a free room. Shocking to not even try or give him some solution. Poor care. He won't be back and I would never visit. The lip service they pay on the website to customer service is a lie.

"Lovely Place to Stay"
sally e, 11 Octobre 2021

Stayed at this lovely hotel with my partner last weekend. We were there celebrating a special event in a function room. Enjoyed a drink in the Walled Garden on arrival. Our room was lovely with nice finishing touches, very well furbished, sparkling clean with the facilities expected. All the staff at the hotel were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Special thanks go to the events manager, catering and waiting on staff together with the resident DJ. Look forward to returning in the future.

"Barton Manor Hotel"
E2603IAleew, 10 Octobre 2021

We booked a room at short notice and were accommodated in Room 30, the Gatehouse, which is separate from the main hotel. The room has recently been decorated and is to an extremely high standard, absolutely superb! Throughout our stay, all the staff were helpful & friendly which added to the overall experience. A great bar with great food available, will definitely be a return customer!!

"Fantastic Hotel!"
jedm495, 30 Septembre 2021

Last weekend my wife and I returned to the Barton Manor hotel due to the excellent experience we had in August. This time it was to celebrate my birthday. Our expectations were high, however Andrea and the team raised the bar yet again. On arrival there was some balloons and a card in our fantastic 2 bedroom Gatehouse which was a really nice personal touch. The service, food and cleanliness was of a very high standard! This hotel is absolutely perfect for a break away from the stresses of life as it is set in beautiful grounds with a wonderful swimming pool, Spa and luscious Walled Garden. We would highly recommend this hotel and again huge thanks to Andrea and her fantastic staff. Thank you!

"Over Night Stay"
incablue, 26 Septembre 2021

Stayed for one night here with lochs and Glens coach party on our way to Scotland. We were greeted by a lovely lady who welcomed us and gave us our room keys, she was pleasant and helpful. The restaurant manager was extremely helpful, i asked for a table for four (our party) as my mother has a disability, all the tables were laid out for 8 and 10, so i weren't sure if this would be possible but it was, he reserved a spare table in the corner for 4 people, so kind of him to do that as it was only an overnight stay. The rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious. There is a bar/lounge area with comfortable seating. Breakfast the next day was excellent with a good choice of cerials, hot and cold food in pleasant surroundings. This hotel is a really good place to stay, very comfortable accommodation with polite friendly helpful staff.

"Over priced - tiny rooms - Police swarming the hotel throughout our stay. Terrible"
W8432EHpaulm, 19 Septembre 2021

Paid €379 for 2 nights - which made expectations quite high (it's not cheap - put it that way) Surprised/shocked that it didn't include breakfast - that was a further charge if we wanted it. Driving into the hotel I thought there had been a murder. Literally Police all over (170 I overheard one of the officers say: pictures attached). On getting to reception I could see it seemed to be a training day rather than a major crime. Irrespective of the reason, we were staying at a country manor hotel which had uniformed police throughout. I thought maybe it was a Friday day time thing, no, it was for our whole stay. It's not bashing the Police, it's literally just the ambience you expect at a county manor and SPA does not include 170 police about the place. It ruined it tbh. Check in. We arrived 3 hours early due to our inbound flight from malta. We asked about early check in, and receptionist told us “the room has just become available let us clean it and try getting you in early” . 2 hours 15 mins later we got into the room.. cheers for the extra effort. But I accept that was my problem, it did state 2pm check in. The room (photos attached), was so underwhelming. We had 1 suitcase and it was too much for the room. Bathroom tiny, bed tiny, no floor space. Shocking really for the price and a 4 star facility. I was fuming , so Saturday morning decided I'll speak to the manager and explain maybe they'll do something. Fair play the duty manager gave me her time to sit and chat. I explained everything, even down to the price and no breakfast included. She thanked me for bringing it to her attention, and understood why the police presence should have been disclosed (it wasn't). She said she would see what she can do… didn't hear from her again… not even a token gesture of a free breakfast for the Sunday. There was a wedding in there on the Saturday night. Felt so sorry for them, everyone trying to have a good time; whilst 100's of uniformed police are swarming about. (I found out they were working nearby where a G7 conference was being held, so this was their base for breaks and rotation of officers at the conference - as I say, not a bashing of Police - it's clearly greedy hotel owners trying to make money in every way they can) Shocking place.

"NEVER AGAIN! Neither a Manor Nor a Spa"
bharat p, 16 Septembre 2021

a) Contrary to the name and expectation of grandeur this is just a B class hotel where (if you were tall) you have to stoop to sign the registration form as the reception desktop is so low b) The circulation area especially accessing the first floor where we were given our first room 105 is through one and a half leaf fire door (open) and lift lobby all the way up the corridor smelt (I mean as if you were in an equestrian stable) c) our first room overlooked a flat roof which must be kitchen underneath, ducts and vents making lots of noise hence we were moved upon complaining to 109. Which appeared to be locked for months and waft of stale air hanged till we had to keep the window open for some time d) The restaurant was full (although empty of guests at 830pm so the receptionist could have told us which times were free) hence we got some takeaway thanks to Dan e) The room was tired, chips in the shower tray and looking cluttered f) Dan actually walked with me up the stairs when I told him about the acrid smell which other guests also noticed g) No attendants at the Spa but worse still, there are unisex changing rooms where my partner felt very uneasy. Shower rooms were flooded because of bad drainage. Access to Spa is bizarrely from the first floor stairs down a couple of flights h) Breakfast was fine in that they took on my request to make an omelet. Overall we couldn't wait to escape the place. One wonders, at such eye-watering charges compared to southern counties you would expect good service. I will be seeking a refund for the discomfort

"Barton manor hotel gatehouse room 30"
Ackred123, 13 Septembre 2021

Myself, husband and daughter would like to thank Debbie (receptionist) who managed to fit us in the hotel at very short notice, and we were given the brand new room 30 which is a 2 bedroom room in the gatehouse detached from the actual hotel. It's beautifully decorated and spacious and very private, although the traffic noise can be heard at busy times of the day and slightly during the night. Before I booked I had read previous reviews of the hotel some of which were quite negative....we only experienced 1 negative and that was on the Saturday evening when we were told the dining room was unable to accommodate us for a evening meal, , when I explained we were residents of the hotel it didn't make a difference, even though James ( sorry, not sure of his job title) was very pleasant to us the evening before and reassured us he would fit us in at some point for a meal even if we had to wait an hour or so, which we were grateful for. This was never given to us an option for the saturday evening. Different staff to the previous evening. I would definitely recommend and stay at this beautiful hotel again. Many thanks to all the staff for there care and attention, and again special thanks to Debbie and James. The Ackred Family

"Lots of potential"
roamingrovers, 05 Septembre 2021

After reading reviews from other people we were a little concerned as to what to expect from a stay here, however, on the whole we were pleasantly surprised. Barton Manor Hotel has great potential, the spa facilities were fab (plus GHD straighteners and hairdryers in the changing rooms, big thumbs up), staff were friendly, pool, darts and billiards available for no charge and the bedroom was a decent size. Our room (room 2) was really quirky and the en-suite was hidden by a door which appeared to be a bookcase, there was even a TV in the bathroom!! We had dinner and breakfast in the Walled Garden restaurant, the food and service were good and again the staff were helpful. However, the bathroom had not be cleaned properly before our arrival which was disappointing and there was only one towel provided in a room for two people. The décor is in need of an upgrade and the furniture was a bit dated. Luckily, we arrived just before a large group from a wedding party so check in didn't take long. I can imagine that had we arrived moments later it would have been a long wait with only one person on reception. For a 4 star hotel there could definitely have been improvements but we enjoyed our stay.

"Disappointed newlywed."
Maddy120792, 04 Septembre 2021

I definitely wouldn't stay again - Great rooms! Staff very rude. Food average - some parts inedible. I bought a package deal Inc. Bed breakfast and dinner - most of evening menu not available as stated on website. The manager called us away at breakfast and said someone had left a note that our breakfast hadn't been paid for and could she put it on our room - I thought this was to do with the package i had bought and returned to the table where a member of staff had a bill for 2x breakfasts and I had to sign it. I challenged this and said could I nip and speak to reception as my booking clearly included breakfast - I showed the staff member this on my phone and she kept telling me to sign the new bill. I didn't know until now that before I returned to the table she was asking my husband to sign - firstly the booking was in my name, secondly this is incredibly inappropriate as this was a surprise night away for my husband as a wedding gift, which was told upon booking. I was given no apology and the manager stomped near our table and told the young girl it's taken off the bill - we were made to feel like we were doing something wrong when it was a mistake on their part! She did not apologise and made the young girl and us very uncomfortable. Not the service you expect from a 4* hotel.

"Very disappointed"
80High, 28 Août 2021

I booked here for a birthday celebration and to meet up with relatives for 2 nights. I was given prices for rooms but wasn't told that the prices quoted were for that day only. After checking with relatives how many rooms I required the price had gone up considerably. I didn't find out the new prices until I arrived at the hotel and it was too late to find an alternative for us all. I wish I had booked at the Marriott which is close. I did not receive an email confirming the original prices but they told me they had sent one so beware if you decide to stay here. Check the room prices carefully if you book with the hotel. Unfortunately that weekend the Chef and kitchen staff had to self isolate so couldn't provide the party meals. They did refund the cost of the meals and found us a restaurant for the party evening but we had to find our own for dinner for the first evening after a journey of 200 miles. Make sure too that you have a room in the new wing. My daughter was put in a family room in the old part of the hotel which was dirty, had ripped curtains and damaged furniture and woodwork. On complaining they were moved to two other rooms in the new block for the second night. As the kitchen was closed there wasn't the option of a cooked breakfast and we had to fill a form in before we went to bed opting for a choice of croissants, yoghurt, fruit and bacon or sausage baps plus coffee and had to collect the breakfast in brown paper bags and eat it in the lounge or your room.We still had to pay full price for this. To sum up this is a badly run hotel and staff need better training. It certainly was not the celebration I had looked forward to. I think we were ripped off and would not recommend staying here.

"Total lack of communication"
721glynisb, 23 Août 2021

Didn't actually get to stay at the hotel but felt I needed to comment on the lack of communication which in effect would make me very reluctant to attempt to stay here in future. Booking made on Saturday to arrive on Sunday for 1 night stay. Made at short notice so we knew any payment was non refundable. Travel to the area was due to family crisis, but plans were cancelled on the Sunday when our son phoned to tell us not to travel up as 3 of the family had developed symptoms of RSV. Out of courtesy I decided to phone the hotel rather than just not turn up, to let them know we would not be arriving and the room could be released. After 3 unanswered calls I left a message asking for someone to contact me. I'm still waiting! Eventually decided to email. Again, still waiting for acknowledgment a day later. So much for me trying to be courteous and letting the hotel know. Our stay at Barton Manor would have been the first of many as it is very close to our sons home, but their lack of communication hints at poor customer service. We will therefore look to returning to the hotel we have used many times in Lancaster where communication with their guests does not seem to be a problem.

"Would stay again"
SixShaw, 19 Août 2021

Needed to find overnight accommodation on a trip north. Found this on the web and got one of the last few standard double rooms on a deal. We were expecting something a bit older but this turns out to be quite a large modern hotel and has a conference facility which wasn't being used when we stayed. Reception was friendly and helpful. Slightly better and larger room than a Premier Inn and much better equipped. We were particularly pleased to have access to the pool which is relatively well equipped, clean and modern. We just asked reception for info and towels were presented. We did have problems signing into either of the two Wi-fi networks. One device we did manage to sign in demonstrated it was quite slow, so accessed the web using data. Can't comment on the food because we didn't eat here. Its good facilities and ease of access to the M6 means we wouldn't hesitate to stay again if we found a deal at the right time.

"Day 3 of 3"
dmahon2, 15 Août 2021

Disappointing. I would recommend you stay at the Marriott a mile down the road instead. Once you're off to a bad start, you notice all the bad things but I will try to be fair and point out the few positives as well. We checked in here for the third night of our long trip from the South of England to the Islands of Scotland and back again after dropping off our daughter at her new job. Unfortunately this was easily the least enchanting. On entering the executive room we had booked, my wife was immediately turned off. The website shows a large, light airy room with a list of modern facilities. This was dark, with dated features, ripped curtains, mis-matched furniture that was sometimes new, designed to look old and other times simply old (but not antique). The bath looked dirty and the carpet was worn. The room did have a coffee machine and some Bluetooth speakers, but there were no bathrobes, no toiletries (never mind luxury ones, the only toiletries I show was a soap dispenser fixed to the wall) and no sign of a TV in the bathroom as advertised (why advertise if if not there). We complained and were show another room - while cleaner and more modern, it had separate beds and was hot and noisy. We decided to stay where we were given it was late and be glad it was just one night. A quick visit to the pool - clean, looked recently revamped, decent steam room, no jacuzzi, combined changing area, lockers needed a coin which we weren't told about beforehand. Fortunately it was also completely empty so we just put our clothes on a chair by the pool. The restaurant was fully booked - reception were refusing another guest a table. Fortunately we were on a package including dinner and had booked a table a few weeks previously. When we got into dinner, there was plenty of room - perhaps they were understaffed and that's why they weren't accepting more covers. The menu for pre-booked dinner wasn't the full menu, but when we enquired about the other menu, we were told we could pay extra to have that. Unfortunately the other (full) menu had changed from the one still advertised on the website and the steak that my wife wanted wasn't on it. So it was fish for the third night running - but it was good and the staff were pleasant and trying hard, though very young and inexperienced in the majority. I suspect post-Covid they had just taken on quite a few newcomers to open back up. Breakfast was good as well. So - a bad room, far from the one advertised. Pool OK, restaurant staff helpful and food good. In conclusion, I would go back to the Marriott (day 1 of 3) instead next time I need to stay by the M6 near Preston but I wouldn't come back here. A disappointing end to our brief trip.

"Bad, with a good ending."
Maps52218464336, 10 Août 2021

A story of two halves , good news and bad, let's start with the bad and how it turned around. Firstly, on their web site it states that along with the main hotel they have a secluded lodge, this lodge is far from secluded being sited on top of the A6. And that's where the problem is, if you are placed in one of the rooms facing the road it is loud. It is also a good 200 yards from the main hotel which means if you are experiencing a normal British summer ie rain, you are either going to get wet going to and from breakfast or wear wet weather gear, neither a nice option when on holiday. Now ours wasn't just loud but ours was very dirty, and badly in need of some tlc, now I can forgive a room being dated if it's clean but ours was far from it , lots of dust, lots of cobwebs and we had to dispose of eight , that's eight of those big gangly spiders which are all legs. And the noise from the A6 meant no sleep as there was an Hgv passing every 30-40 seconds. So first thing in the morning it's of to reception , as we where booked in for three nights there was no way we were staying in that room. I must say that reception were more than accommodating and I got the feeling that we were not the first to complain about this room. So we were moved into the main hotel and it was like moving to a totally different hotel , clean , fresh and away from the road. As for the rest of the stay all was good, the swimming pool area is really nice, only three other people in when we went in, the gym was full of new equipment and the spa staff friendly. Breakfast food was adequate and quite palatable although they were a bit mean with their tea and coffee refills. All in all ending up a pleasant stay , would I rebook , defiantly but I would stipulate a room in the main block.

Miscommunication at check in, very stressful. Rooms very nice and comfortable. Booked originally for 2020, we were advised on arrival that the breakfast would be a grab and go due to someone having covid. We had to choose from a list of what we would like. There were three of us in our room so ticked pastries, bacon and sausage barms, coffee and juice. At pick up no pastries, one girl said they had run out then they hadn't had the delivery. The duty manager apologised calling be poppet which I advised I was not her poppet. The breakfast was nearly £10 per head, which she duly took off the bill. When we got to the room and opened the bacon barn there were two small pieces of very greasy bacon which could not be eaten. My daughter and I used the leisure facilities which were ok until you needed to shower, there was no water coming out of any of the showers. I had to go and find someone who duly came looked in the loft and said he would have to call the plumber. Although there was a dispenser for wet clothes it was empty. This was supposed to be a stress free night and day attending a family wedding.

"Poor Standard of Cleanliness"
L5838RQjoannal, 30 Juillet 2021

We have been visiting Barton Manor Hotel for years (when it was Barton Grange) and have always found it comfortable, welcoming & clean with a great restaurant and facilities.(We are based in the US & South of England, and use it when we visit elderly parents locally) However on visiting at the end of June, we notice that, along with the name change, the standards had dropped dramatically. We acknowledge that these are difficult times for all in the hospitality industry so prepared to give them another chance. We booked in for 2 nights at the beginning of this week. After a 250 mile drive, we checked in and were informed the restaurant & kitchen were closed due to staff self isolating - no one's fault particularly, but what is inexcusable is that no attempt was made to tell us before we made the visit (we only booked the night before as well) that this had happened. I was told no allowance on billing would be made to take this in to account, as we'd only booked a room. When we got to our rooms, they were filthy - cobwebs, hair in the shower, dust encrusted fan, what looked like dry skin on the bedside table - this was only what was visible to the eye, and considering the country is still enduring the pandemic, this is completely unacceptable. I tried calling reception but no answer. I went down and spoke to the lady on the front desk - was told there were no other rooms and she got the duty manager to come and talk. He came up to see the problems for himself, assured me both rooms would be properly cleaned whilst we were in the garden having a drink with family (he comped me a bottle of wine) - during this drink, we were sold an out of date fruit shoot which tasted disgusting - again, not a good look for an industry struggling. When we returned to our rooms, one of the bathrooms still wasn't very clean and we still had cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. Needless to say, we only stayed one night and won't be returning. I have complained, in writing, to the general manager, and await a response. Wouldn't recommend it these days.

"Lovely countryside setting"
473tonyd, 12 Juillet 2021

Stayed here for 2 nights as we were attending a wedding in the local area. The hotel is lovely and is situated in a beautiful countryside setting. The room was perfect for what we needed, very comfortable. The restaurant and gardens are very nice, the garden area is nice to sit it when the sun is shining. The only negative was that the cooked breakfast was a bit cold, presumably because it is not cooked to order and sits in a container to keep it heated. We didn't use the spa facilities on this trip. We would definitely return.

"perfect retreat for our 5th wedding anniversary"
Louamiedan, 01 Juin 2021

We stayed here for our 5th wedding anniversary. The staff were very welcoming and friendly . We spent the afternoon in the garden having a few ice cold drinks of lager and a sandwich, which was perfect. It was peaceful and relaxing. In the evening we had a top quality meal at the walled garden, the food was exceptional. Upon realising we were celebrating the staff gave us a complimentary drink of fizz which was a lovely touch. My only criticism was that we booked a stay and 3 course meal but this translated into a meal to the value of no more than £21.98 . It would not really have been possible to have 3 courses for this much so a bit of false advertising which does need to be corrected. But overall we had a great stay and would highly reccommend.

"Fabulous completely fabulous.. "

Wonderful team , super super hotel, so very welcoming under the current circumstances, I can only imagine how wonderful this hotel would be a bustling hive of happiness, the room was super and clean I felt very very safe , I will definitely return when we can see the hotel in its full glory , such a shame , if you have to travel for business/ work this is a super place to stay. Grab and go breakfast really well organised super stay .

"Not what advertised"
lornat790, 09 Septembre 2020

We booked this hotel gor a overnight stay after looking online. We checked in with a lets say face like thunder member of staff she gave very little information and proceeded to answer the telephone mid way through booking in no apology very rude. Once we got into room a executive one all was not what we had booked the pictures online show a modern spacious room when in reality it was a out dated in need a of a revamp room advertised luxuries there was no luxuries believe me. We complained to the same woman who checked us in who gave the excuse of covid to the room not being what was advertised, she had no intrest in our complaint. Service in bar not much better we waited 20 mins for our drinks to arrive and the bar was not busy. We booked to go into restaurant was not impressed with the menu so cancelled, yes i know everyone has got different taste but a menu online would of been good to see before booking. When we retired to bed well have to say was not the most comfy bed at all and the walls were paper thin could here every word of next rooms argument ent early hours in morning. Little things too like advertising coffee machine but only having one pod. I expected a lot more and much better service ive stayed in better 3 star hotels than this. Definitely will not be returning or recommending to friends.

"Nice to be back!"
Roger052, 24 Août 2020

It was nice to return to Barton Grange for an overnight stay on a journey north. The hotel and staff are (as always) very welcoming and they have clearly worked hard on their Covid precautions. Everywhere is clean and we felt very safe staying here. Comfy beds in a quiet room and a well cooked breakfast rounded the stay off.

"Friendly staff"
Bettyboo640, 16 Août 2020

Booked this hotel very last minute but, were not disappointed. Staff were very friendly & helpful & the food we had at dinner & breakfast was lovely. Room was adequate with a nice bathroom. We never got chance to use the leisure facilities but were asked if we wanted to. Good on adhering to wearing masks & social distancing reminders etc.

"Overnight saty"
Julie S, 07 Août 2020

When I booked the hotel the staff were very friendly, they told me what offers and options they had, which were very good deals. We had food in the restaurant which was delicious. I recommend the fleetwood fish and chips. They had a very good wine menu and reasonably priced. They do have swimming and lesuire facilities but we didn't use them. The rooms were clean and bed very comfortable. The hotel also had plans in place for covid with hand sanitisers around the hotel, tables away from each other and table service. Would definitely stay here again.

"Stay swim dine"
jesspickton, 05 Août 2020

A wonderful gem. We part took in the over night stay with dinner wine and breakfast which also includes use of leisure facilities. Value for money friendly helpful staff and felt 100% safe. The walled garden with lavender was an unexpected delight to wonder around and the room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Thanks for a great stay

"Disappointing"
Bluemacc, 26 Juillet 2020

When we were checking in, we were told that the pool & gym were open. My husband was very disappointed at not to have been informed prior to us arriving as he hadn't brought any fitness gear with him. The website had said it was opening on 31/07/2020. We entered the executive room which was situated in the annex. It really smelt musty & was overpoweringly hot. We opened the windows wide but it wasn't making much difference. Then I noticed the towel rail in the bathroom was on full power. I tried to turn it down but it only went down to no 2. There was only 1 pillow each on the bed & no spares. So we had to ask for extra & also a fan. The internet was also a problem - very intermittent . The tv on the wall was too small & too far away! & the full length mirror is in a very strange position in the room. The room was very sparse & not luxurious at all. The bathroom was very nice with fluffy towels. The receptionist in the evening was very pleasant but didn't know if the rooms had a hairdryer- which I thought was odd. All in all we won't be returning.

"Never returning"
cassiew787, 18 Juillet 2020

Upon booking I was not advised of any changes due to Covid-19, apart from we won't be able to use leisure facilities which was absolutely fine. Arriving in our room there was no welcome/instruction sheet with WiFi details (4G dosnt work), breakfast times or bar opening hours, no shampoo for shower. This is a 4 star hotel with ‘all the facilities you would expect'. Went down for our evening meal which was included within the package I bought my partner for his birthday, they served me a Chicago town pizza!! I asked the waiter for mayonnaise and he brought brown sauce and his response ‘oh s**t sorry pal'. They did take our drinks off the bill, but honestly had I been prewarned at the time of booking and my expectations been set I would have waited. This is not the service that is expected I told the waiter and he told the chef. I am honestly not the type to write negative reviews but for £140 I would have rather saved my money and cooked a frozen pizza at home. So so sad

"Wedding 28th February 2020"
822graemer, 03 Mars 2020

My daughter Kimberley and son-in law Daniel booked their wedding there on Friday 28th February. The staff under the direction of Anne were amazing, if anything went wrong we were not aware of it, it was the most perfect day, they worked so hard to ensure that the bride and groom had nothing to worry about. The professionalism, decor, polite staff, lovely food, nothing was any trouble, they looked after all our guests from arrival to departure. I would highly recommend this hotel. Thank you for all your hard work in making it the most perfect day.

"Pleasant stay"
778jillt, 01 Mars 2020

We stayed at this hotel for a friendship weekend with our rotary club. The staff were very welcoming and the rooms were very comfortable. Beds very comfortable. Bathrooms newly done but very disappointing shower just a trickle of water and very hard to regulate the temperature. Food in restaurant was of good quality and service was good. The hotel has recently been sold and there is programme of refurbishment going on, which didn't really affect us. We were unable to use the pool as to do so you had to leave the building and walk into the walled garden to gain entrance. It was very cold so decided not to bother. You also needed to get a key from reception to gain access. Not really very inviting or user friendly. Hotel well located for the Flower Bowl complex where we passed a very enjoyable few hours playing crazy golf and having a curling lesson. Good value for money!

"Service with a smile"
TonyTrainor, 26 Février 2020

We booked this hotel so we could meet up with friends in the area, as it was showing a good TripAdvisor rating. The hotel certainly didn't disappoint. First class service all the way from reception, checking in so easy, the restaurant (well worth a visit wether staying in the hotel or not) and the leisure facilities. The website doesn't show it, bit they have a gym and swimming pool/sauna, which the kids loved. Great place, definitely go back.

"Non existent service "
140samf, 20 Février 2020

Non existent customer service. Couldnt make my booking to a significant family emergency. Emailed 24 hours via Booking.com in advance and asked to reschedule . No reply to my message yet charged my card the full amount to my card. Would never stay again

"Good hotel, good location"
captainpalatick, 05 Février 2020

Didn't fancy trying to get parked in Preston so chose this place for the evening and I was very impressed. The staff are great, the room was very nice and the breakfast even came with fried bread. Only downside was a rather poor shower, but if you're in North Lancashire and need somewhere handy for the M6, it's ideal. There's also a few restaurants within walking distance if you fancy something different to the menu. Could I hell get the radio to work though.
