    « More than a hotel »

This place is much more than a hotel, much more like a combination family hotel/resort. The pool area and atrium are both amazing. Staff is friendly and professional. We didnt eat here mainly because it is so close to so many other options!

    « Daughter's 14th Birthday »

I was pleasantly surprised. I wanted a hotel that my daughter and her BFFs could enjoy and stay active. First, the room size is generous and the four of us had plenty of space. Second, anything we wanted such as a microwave or room service happened IMMEDIATELY. Third, the pool area is great but really, the atrium and its palm trees are outstanding. It is a fun atmosphere. Even better - the games room! Best $20 I have ever spent. They had a riot for an hour. The BEST! The restaurant's bar. I earned that beer! Girls in the teens are exhausting. One more thing - the food is good and affordably priced. Highly recommend The Lamplighter for family fun.

First time being here..hotel is very clean..everyone was so helpful..felt like I was away for a vacation and not for medical reasons..I do have to come back and this hotel will be the only hotel I stay at

« Third visit, still great! »

Third visit to this property since 2011 and it's in excellent shape. I think the hallways have been updated since our last visit, very nice wood panelling and new carpet. Same great 1 bedroom suite on the first floor of the North Wing. Room very clean and nice, bed very comfortable. Visitors should note that, while the pool is open all day, the waterslide is only open after 5pm on weekdays. Also there is no food or drink allowed in the pool area at all. Games room was enjoyed by all. Great value for the price!

    « Impressively clean »

Hotel was clean. It was a very busy weekend and hotel was fully booked. Children as well as adults keep on running on the hallway up to late in the evening, kept on waking up in the evening. Overall, good place to stay, easy on and off from the 401.

    « Good stay. »

Best feature is hotel is totally non-smoking. Rooms are clean. Breakfast prices should be on board outside restaurant near check-in desk. We rolled to centre of mattress. Drapes should open from centre not just one side.

Great stay-10th time visiting this great property and I always get service by a great staff. I find the rooms in excellent conditions and appreciate the separate shower. Lots of close parking and lots elevators.

    « Fantastic Getaway! »

We chose this hotel for a 1 night getaway with the family and had just an amazing stay! We had a lovely room with balcony overlooking the atrium, pool and water slide. We made great use of the balcony. The hotel is designed to bring the outside in with palm trees ??, koi pond and more! Our daughter was absolutely ?Wowed? by the hotel and my husband was also blown away! The pool was wonderful and warm and I finally mustered the courage to take the water slide down! It was great for kids and adults. The hot tub was nice and hot and we made good use of that too. The showers at the pool area were very convenient. Kudos to Pamela, Manager and Sang at the Front Desk. They were very courteous, helpful, professional and kind. Sang was my go-to-person for any questions I had. The guest information binder in the room also had very helpful and useful information about open/close hours of the facilities. Shelley's Tap & Grill was great for room service and for breakfast. Loved The pancakes ??! The staff at the pool and water slide were so nice and helpful. We watched the staff/lifeguard staff shut down the facility in the late evening. They certainly worked hard collecting all the towels, straightening the chairs to precision, reading/checking the water table content, securing and locking up the pool area at closing. All staff we met were professional and certainly well trained and versed in their roles at the hotel. It was a busy weekend at the hotel and the staff handled themselves very well. We had lots of fun and enjoyed just walking around the hotel complex too. It was very quiet at night and we had a great nights sleep. The beds were really comfy. Thumbs up to the owner, managers and staff of the hotel. We look forward to returning again!

« Front Desk failure to communicate »

The Lamplighter is located on Wellington Rd close proximity to the Victoria and Children's Hospital on Commissioners Rd . There are plenty of dining options in the area. Wellington provides easy access to the 401 and Downtown London. The Hotel includes amenities such as an onsite restaurant, pool, gym and conference facilities. The Hotel caters to families with children; the water slide is a popular attraction for kids. There was some renovation being conducted at the hotel however it didn't interfere with our stay. The room was well appointed with a desk fridge, two very comfortable queen beds. Pillows were a bit too big for my liking. The room was clean and comfortable. Parking was readily available. My only gripe was that a package was sent to the hotel, it was accepted by reception. It's unclear whether it was received prior or after our check out, none the less no one tried to reach out to us to advise us that a package was left for us; despite having the room number and my name on the package. We only found out about it when a relative called to advise that they had sent something for us to the hotel. When they called to confirm 2 days later the hotel stated that the package was indeed at the front desk. The shipment company confirmed it was signed for 3 days earlier. No one at the hotel attempted to reach out to us, which is unacceptable. As such I would not recommend this hotel for this reason. It's unclear as to how they were going to address the unclaimed package. Again unacceptable.

    « family friendly »

We need to travel to London for medical appointments annually. We love staying here. It is very family friendly with the fantastic pool with waterslide in the atrium and the arcade. Shelly's restaurant is wonderful and has a great kids menu. Also they have complimentary shuttle service to the hospitals. The rooms are clean and spacious and the staff is very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend.

« Nice little family getaway, with some minor issues »

It was a busy weekend, and an ice storm which had a few interruptions in power. This isn't the hotels fault, but they adjusted nicely. Lifeguards at the pool were attentive at the waterslide, but I would recommend someone in the hot tub area, as the adults found it unusable with the amount of 6-9 year old kids (whos parents werent watching unless you count from the mezzanine or balconies to drink their beer) running through it and spitting water at patrons. I wouldn't have minded a chance to use the hot tub, but couldnt due to above. Room was clean, and well appointed (1 bed king suite) Check in / out was a breeze Would definitely stay again, but not during jr hockey season when the teams roll through there...

« Awesome Hotel, Watch for Large Tournaments! »

I'd love to give this hotel 5 stars! PLUS: Fantastic pool/atrium area, clean, spacious rooms, nice restaurant, great location, comfy beds. NEGATIVE: Hockey tournaments! Ask if there is going to be a large group staying there before booking. If there is, don't face the atrium, or ask for a higher floor where you do not share patio space. I had a large group of hockey parents who used our combined patio space to have a large and boisterous gathering that lasted until almost 1 a.m.. This was even after I called the front desk twice. When I has to book a second night due to an ice storm in the area, I switched to another room away from the atrium. So much better! If I had stayed in that room the first night, the hotel may have gotten the full 5 stars.

    « A near-to-home getaway »

I've never stayed at a hotel like this before. The interior has a heated pool with whirlpool and (I think) the upper level has a water slide, and, uniquely, the interior guest rooms have balconies that face the pool. With a very high glass solarium ceiling, tropical trees and humid atmosphere, at night with the "street" lamps on, it feels like you could be in a hotel courtyard in Florida. The hotel also has conference rooms and services. We reserved an exterior-facing king room, which was quiet and comfortable. Actually, the bed was the most comfortable that I've ever slept on at a hotel. They do not offer a complementary breakfast, but there is an on-site restaurant.

    « Business Conference »

Clean, beautiful hotel. The solarium pool area was spectacular. Beautiful place to take your kids. The conference rooms are big and spacious. The check in and out was easy and the Restaurant had great food and lots of room to move.

Wonderful place to stay - exceptionally clean - you should be very proud of your cleaning and maintenance staff! Front desk staff and cleaning staff are very friendly. My first time here and I will be back.

Dining Room very busy but service was quick and friendly. Front Desk staff courteous and efficient. Always enjoy staying here. Enjoyed our Atrium room. Beautiful vacation spot. Didn't use pool but have enjoyed it in the past.

    « Excellent hotel »

Always a pleasure to stay in this hotel. The rooms are always clean and fresh and the staff is eager to help if needed. It also has amazing amenities like a beautiful pool, exercise room, although small, restaurant within etc.

« Excellent location for Business »

This is without a doubt my first choice in hotels when I come to London, the rooms are spacious and clean, the staff are extremely friendly and the amenities are fantastic. Would highly recommend it to anyone either with or without families travelling to the area. Well located too!

    « A full service hotel »

Whenever we are in London we always stay here. We stay in hotels at least 50 nights a year and this one is always one of the best. Nice rooms, quiet and clean. Conveniently located and Lots of parking.

« Very nice place, great service. »

I stayed there since |I was in London for business. The people at the front desk were very courteous and helpful. Check in was fast. They ask you for your cell phone number when you arrive and they send you a welcome text. After that you can text them for anything you need instead of calling the front desk. I found this very helpful. I send them a text and they reply immediately, it is a great option of communication. My room was on the first floor, very close to the pool area. The hallway smelled like chlorine. The room was very comfortable, very clean and very comfortable bed. The down side was that the furnace was very noisy, so every time the furnace started I could hear the noise of the fan. The room had a Jacuzzi tub. They have a big pool which I did not use but it looks very nice and popular. The other bad point of this hotel is that it does not have breakfast in the morning. There is a restaurant attached to it, but if you are in a hurry and need to eat something fast I do not recommend this restaurant at all!!! I sat there for 30 minutes and didn't get any food. There are many other places for fast breakfast in the morning close to the hotel, including a Tim Horton's. The hotel is in a great location on Wellington Ave, which is the main street in London and the one that brings you from the 401 to downtown London, it is 6 minutes away from the Hwy 401. The hotel is very close to downtown also probably 5 minutes and very close to the hospital. There are many options for dinner close by. I would stay there again and give them a second chance but I will probably ask for a room upstairs. They have special rates for seniors, government workers and CAA members and that is convenient if you go there often on business. You can get a room here for a very good price.

    « Back Again!!?? »

Another enjoyable stay! Once we checked in we realised that they had lots going on for the kiddos as it was March Break! Movies, magic, face painting!!!! The pool was very busy but lifeguard staff did a good job of crowd control.

    5
« Better than Great Wolf Lodge the kids said! »

We had an awesome stay here! Clean rooms, comfy beds and great staff! The pool area is gorgeous! The kids really enjoyed the pool and waterslide. For a fraction of the price of a stay at Great Wolf Lodge, the kids loved this place more! Reasons why when we compared: - no lineups at the slide (yes, only 1 slide made them happier because they didn't have to wait an hour each time in long line ups!) - comfier beds - less expensive!!! Way less!!! - awesome Breakfast (family of 5 ate well for under $50 incl. tip!) -cleaner than GWL (no kids puking or pooping in pool every 5 mins!) - friendly staff -none of us wanted to leave! We will definitely be back!!!!

    2
« Understaffed for March Break - pool closed @ capacity. Ridiculous. »

We chose this hotel as a one night March Break excursion to get away with our kids. It was busy, as we expected. An adults only hot tub would be nice. The signs say kids under 12 must be in a hot tub with a parent & hot tub has a max capacity of 10. At one point there was myself, another woman and EIGHT kids in the hot tub... and none of those kids were mine. We went to dinner and came back to use the pool facilities again. There were far fewer people so we were pleased to see that...until we noticed all the pool gates were locked with signs saying they were at capacity. But the pool had exactly half the patrons that were there earlier in the day, which means they cut staff numbers in the evening. So we had to tell the kids they could not use the pool. Had we known that was going to happen, we would never have travelled to this hotel...the whole purpose of the visit was for the kids to use the waterpark. We understand and respect the rules for safety purposes, however this falls on the hotel staffing policy. How do you have a sold out hotel for March Break & not adequately staff the waterpark??? We won't be back... I won't pay to travel to hotel for a waterpark we MIGHT be able to use. Our kids were very disappointed.

« Excellent Stay for March Break »

We decided to book a short stay in London for March Break. We chose this hotel because we immediately fell in love with pictures of the pool area. We called the hotel three hours before check-in, but staff politely told us because of March Break it was very busy and the rooms were not ready. We tried again 45 minutes before check-in and they said there was no guarantee, but we could come in. Check-in then was a breeze with staff giving us our wristbands for the pool area, a guide to all the March Break activities and there were even free cookies at the desk. The hotel is very modern looking and impressive for a Best Western. Our room was clean, roomy and provided everything we needed. Although, I always find it funny when the room can sleep up to four people, but there are only three drawers for clothes. But no big deal. There was no Keurig, but we found the in-room coffee pretty good and housekeeping was happy to provide extra. The atrium and pool area didn't disappoint. It was humid and with the palm trees and domed rooftop letting in so much natural light, you could pretend you were away somewhere that wasn't London, Ontario. It was always busy at the pool (sorry single people, but families rule here), but we always found seating of some kind. Everyone was respectful of each other and when some kids got too rowdy, the pool supervisors straightened them out. There were lifeguards during the day, but I didn't see them in the morning or night. My husband and oldest enjoyed the water slide, but my family mostly stuck to the main pool and hot tub. However, like other reviewers, they found the water a little too cold. My only guess is the hotel doesn't want to pay to heat the pool a few degrees higher. C'mon Best Western, with so many commenting on this, why not make your customers happy? For March Break, the hotel had pre-arranged activities for the kids like a clown and magic show which we really appreciated. Unfortunately, we only had time to participate in the afternoon scavenger hunt, but my kids loved it and the prize you receive for completing it. We probably spent way too much time and money in arcade which was a lot of fun. The location of the hotel is excellent because you can find everything on Wellington. We did everything from go to dinner, go shopping, go for ice cream and to the movies. We also went to the Children's Museum and Fleetway Fun for bowling and mini golf, both which I highly recommend. Another unique thing about our stay was the hotel will send you a text to see how your stay is going. I ended up using this type of communication to ask everything from what was the new wifi password, to asking for more coffee to where was the closest movie theatre. It was a fast and easy way to communicate with the front desk wherever I was in the hotel. We loved the Best Western Lamplighter Inn and my kids are already asking go back. My only suggestion is to turn up the heat in the pool and, as much as we enjoyed the free cookies, maybe offer some fresh fruit instead? Otherwise, a very enjoyable stay. 4.5 stars. P.S. I was a dodo and left my keys and a library book (!) in the room. Luckily, we were visiting relatives nearby. When I called the front desk, they were very helpful in contacting housekeeping and locating my stuff so I could drive back and get it. Thanks BW front desk staff! You guys were awesome!

    « Great Family Fun »

Very welcoming hotel. The check-in process went very smoothly, very quick, lots of people working the reception area. This is a very family friendly and oriented hotel. The kids had a great time swimming and playing in the awesome pool area. The rooms and bathroom are not the biggest or most updated I've ever seen but they were perfectly acceptable for a family of 4 with 2 young kids. We stayed in a queen suite that overlooked the atrium.

    3
    « Good night away »

The hotel and staff overall were very good, the room could use a little updating. The shower seemed to only have 2 temperatures, scalding hot or freezing the cold and was very hard to shut off the water.

    4
    « 3 day conference »

Very accommodating hotel. Staff were very good and taking care of the rooms in a timely manner. The atrium made an especially inviting location for food and social events. Great location close to all amenities

    3
« Not the greatest family hotel - very cold pool water! »

this hotel appears like the perfect get-a-way for a family but make sure you are aware of what comes with it. really it is a matter of what you expect in pool behaviour to what you get in reality. this is a very busy place and the pool is very, very busy. balls are allowed in the pool ( not just beach balls ) but all types of ball. i was hit and my child hit in the face and the ball was allowed to stay in the pool. i spoke with the manager and he agreed no balls allowed in the pool, but the next day, footballs - mini balls, etc were back out. kids wrestling and jumping around. the lifeguards can only ask them to stop and dont remove people. be ready for the unsupervised children, while parents are drinking outside their hotel rooms on the bottom floor. waterslide is 4 ft and over only. so the area is very busy with limited rules and the water is very cold in the pool. many people leave and not the best for young children (lots of blue lips). the rooms are nice and the location is central to many places. just be ready for very busy pool area, with few rules, and very cold water.

    « One of London's hidden gems »

Best Western Lamplighter in London is one of London's hidden gem and a great place to stay. The hotel has an amazing pool area with a water slide and hot tub. Our room was clean modern and very comfortable. Check in and out was fast and staff was super friendly and helpful.

    « Excellent Hotel - GREAT Restaurant »

Very comfortable and up to date; rooms are large and beds excellent. Biggest PLUS is the restaurant - POSTO's. Best small hotel restaurant I have ever enjoyed. Great on any scale. Worth staying there to enjoy restaurant.

    5
    « Conference »

The room was clean and comfortable, was upgraded to a suite(very nice)..approximately 30 steps from the conference. Would like to see "adult hours" for the hot tub. I was planning on having a bit of relaxing time in the hot tub but was full of young children at 2130.

    « Never disappointed! »

Best Western Lamplighter inn in London Ontario Is a great place to stay in whether for business and/or leisure... always good and never disappoint ?? if you come by yourself or with family you will enjoy it especially with the indoor atrium and swimming pool!

    5
    « Hospital Appointment »

I called the Lamplighter Inn last minute to book a room for my family of three. My child had an early morning procedure at Children's Hospital and we decided it may be easier to travel the night before. Not only was everyone I spoke to very kind and friendly, but they also offered us a hospital rate which was super appreciated since we were just looking to sleep and leave at 7:00 a.m. Our beds were very comfortable and it was nice and quiet. Our family was feeling pretty tense but somehow we got a great night's sleep. I would definitely go back for a stay at a happier time.

    5
    « Hidden gem »

I was very impressed with this hotel! So close to home and I didn't know what I was missing lol. Next time we will definitely be taking the kids and staying a couple nights for them to enjoy the gorgeous pool area...

    5
    « Hockey tourney »

I've been going to London for my son's hockey tournaments for years and everyone went out of their way to staying at the Lamplighter. Now I know why. The water park is the primary draw. Good location. Looks like the hotel has been renovated and it looks really nice and clean. Only comment I would have is to offer better tasting coffee.

    5
    « WOW! »

It was 10 years ago the last time I was here with my family came . When I walked into the front doors this weekend I was astonished . I could not believe how beautiful it was . Chinese gentleman in the Lobby went over and above for us so hats off to him . Was also happy that the pool was open until 11 PM which most places are closed a lot earlier .

    5
    « Amazing stay »

Excellent staff. Room was clean. Loved the pool and hot tub. We stay overnight for doctor appointments. So thought we would take our brazillian girls there for a one night stay on the weekend and there was 2 birthday parties going on and they had lots of kids, so our girls found it a little over crowded in hot tub and pool. was more relaxing after supper when there was not so many kids around. Close to shopping and eating areas and they have a restaurant right there that has great food also.

    5
    « Birthday Getaway »

Our visit was for my son birthday, this is what he wanted to do. This hotel is a pet friendly (but in our case we have a service dog for my son)when I found out where their rooms were for pet friendly I had ask if we could be place closer to the pool where we would most likely spend our time. And they were happy to do so, it made all the difference for us. We couldn't be more pleased and satisfied with our visit. We will be back!.

    3
    « Great Staff, »

Reception Staff was excellent. Our room was clean, large and comfortable. Would have been nice to have had a guide to the Television Channels. Staff made us feel very welcome. Had a meal in the Restaurant. Food was mediocre at best - I had a Reuben Sandwich for lunch and it was ar least 80 % fat. We are big fans of Best Western and this was a disappointing experience.

    « Happy with stay »

I stayed here while in London for work and I was overall happy with my stay. The hotel was about 20 minutes by cab away from the airport ($40 one way). The front desk staff were very friendly and called me a cab every time I asked (cabs arrive quickly). The rooms are clean and have everything that you need. The hotel itself is a bit confusing to maneuver as you have to walk through the conference and pool areas and down many hallways before you get to your room. White Oaks mall is about a 20 minute walk away and there are some good food options within walking distance.

    3
    « Good clean stay »

perfect place if your just looking for a cheap place to stay. has anything you need. would be good for family/business trip. breakfast was decent in morning. lots of stores n resteraunts in the area as well.

    5
    « Amazing customer service »

Check in was fast and efficient. The room was clean, affordable and very nice. The staff texted me right away and i was bale to communicate via text message for my entire stay which was very convenient.

    4
    « Kids enjoyed it »

This is a really nice hotel. On a main road of the city so it wasn't too far to go downtown (may want to avoid with kids) and not too far from a shopping mall. They have a water slide which my kids enjoyed, but it closes early and only open during a set time frame. Onsite restaurant which was nice, but we wandered to the Crabby Joes right beside it.

    5
    « GREAT OVERNIGHT STAY »

Pool Area, room service, food, room, everything was as expected and above. Every staff member I dealt with was very friendly and happy. Good Job. A family get away for the night. Kids loved the pool said it made them feel like they were in Florida. All positives from this customer.

    5
    « Great visit »

We came here with 3 grandkids. After initially being put in the wrong room, the hotel quickly switched it to the correct room. The pool was good overall the room was fabulous and the service was great. The staff are very attentive to our needs taking care of us totally. The hotel isvvery close to the hospital and all sorts of shopping and restaurants.

    5
    « Best experience »

When me and my mother went to see a concert we looked at at least quite a few places and found this one I really liked it it was the best experience I've ever had there awesome customer service and going back soon with more people

« Hockey team tournament weekend »

Best Western Plus Lamplighter Inn provides excellent accommodations for our entire hockey team. The rooms were spacious with comfortable beds, well designed washrooms & lots of extras (make-up remover towelette, USB charging ports etc) The pool, slide & hot tub were a hit with the kids. Some of our teammates had rooms backing on to the atrium which allowed for a great space to gather & share a snack/meal. We reserved a private room & had a buffet dinner served to us. This worked wonderfully & the food was delicious. Criticism: the arcade ran out of toys for the claw machine? & don't try to check in early; your room will not be ready till 3pm

    3
« Nice bedding, unprofessional front desk staff »

Not my first stay - this one was the worst. If this was my first stay at this hotel I would never return. I had to re-enter the wifi password on the second day of my stay (unheard of at other hotels). They have a text messaging system for guests but no one responded for over 30 minutes. My repeated calls to front desk were unanswered. Finally when I called the text message cell phone my call was answered by someone with attitude and NO knowledge of customer service. Later I got a text response saying they didn't answer because they were "a bit busy"!! The room was nice enough, even though the room door rattles every time someone opens the hallway glass door from the elevator well. (My room was second from the glass door) Luckily it was a suite so I could close the bedroom door to sleep. They have a good full breakfast for $6.50. But service can be erratic.

    « Great motel »

Great experience at this hotel with my grandkids over Christmas break!! Would highly recommend!! Kids are already asking when can we go again? Close to shopping and hospital if anyone is needing to be near loved one in hospital too Thank you to all staff members there .

    « Pool was freezing »

If you have small children, bring a rash guard for the Pool. My toddlers lips were blue & chattering within 5mins of swimming. The staff said it was 82 degrees, but it was definitely in the low seventies

    « Great stay .... cold pool »

Everything was great except the pool water was cold. Key feature is the pool and many kids were in hot tub instead of pool to warm up. Did email a complaint and had a quick response from management which was nice.

    « Beware of the so-called ?waterpark?. »

The ONE slide in this ?waterpark? has a 48? height restriction. While there is a ton of room to run around this hotel, one does not get good value if one has younger children. Neither my 5 or 7 year old met the height restriction and were not allowed on the slide, despite being excellent swimmers. In addition, unlike almost every other BW in the world, there is no free breakfast.

Had a nice time at this hotel! Great pool for kids!!! The water slide was a huge hit for the kids! Would recommend this hotel for family as it's a family friendly satay for everyone! Would come back for sure!

    « Great New Year's Eve! »

We had a great time. We reserved two rooms and had 3 adults and 5 kids overnight for NYE. The kids loved that we were on the ground floor and had access to the pool/slide. Overall we had a great time!

« Awesome place to stay and Pet Friendly! »

My only complaint is that the pool was too cold! Not sure if it is always too cold or if it just right now since the weather outside is -15 Water slide was awesome. Hot tub was perfect but could be bigger- always full (probably due to freezing pool) staff was attentive. Room was clean. Beds were sooo comfortable. Gym was good. Arcade was a little overpriced but ok selection of games. And my dog was able to stay with us so that was awesome! We'll def be back.

« AWESOME SERVICE, AS USUAL »

The Best Western Lamplighter Inn lives up to it's reputation. Once again, our stay there was excellent. You can't ask for better service and value when staying in London, Ontario. The rooms are tastefully decorated with calming, white bedding. The mattresses are Tempur-Pedic is the south wing and are extremely comfortabale. There is a refrigerator in every room. The staff go out of their way to ensure that your stay is as perfect as possible. There is a wonderful pool with waterslide, as well as a fitness room and arcade.

    « Best Western Lamplighter »

We had a wonderful stay at the Best Western in London. The staff are friendly and the rooms were clean and well maintained. The pool area and water slide are nice but the pool was chilly. We will return for another stay but hopefully the pool will be a little warmer.

« Great Family Place but needs some rules »

Great hotel. Great amenities. However, there needs to be some enforcement of some rules in the pool/hot tub area as it's out of control in the hot tub. Very family oriented but there should be at least one amenity that's for adults.

    « Pool too cold »

Hotel is nice, has a good family restaurant. The pool was too cold, my 2 and a half yr old's lips were blue within 10 minutes. We have a pool at home that we keep at 78-80 and this was much colder, not good for young children.

    « Amazing! »

I booked our stay online and didn't even noticed that I booked for the WRONG DAY! We arrived to the hotel, went to check in and realized our prior was actually reserved for the previous night. The staff were amazing and we were charged a discounted rate for the night we missed and by some miracle there was an awesome Atrium room available that night so we were still able to stay. I don't know the names of the people we dealt with as my husband did that part, but you made two little girls very happy by accommodating us! The Atrium rooms have an awesome resort feel. We highly recommend this place and we will be back!

    « To the rescue »

Sunday I had book and a reserved a room at another hotel through air miles and they denied us lodging, although we don't live that far away, it was my husbands Christmas party at the university and we wanted to celebrate without driving. What a great way to use my air miles, right? We frantically called around and The Lamplighter was great, got us in quick, even sent me a quick text from the front desk shortly after check in. Not once did I feel belittled or that I shouldn't be there, like I had at the other hotel. The room was beautiful and had everything I needed in there to get ready for the party. Thanks for the rescue, I'll be sure to book them first next time. And get to enjoy the pool.

    « Very nice rooms »

Room was good but the timer for the fireplace and jet tub where annoying. Hot tub was nice and the pool was just right not to cold. Price of the room wasn't to bad. For a night away with the husband it was good.

    « Pleasantly surprised »

Don't normally stay with Best Western but chose this hotel as close to the hospital. Was able to walk to the hospital even in a snowstorm. Hotel must have been recently renovated as lobby and hallways are very modern and it makes it look like a 4+ star hotel. Pool area is very cool and almost makes you feel like you are in the Caribbean. I thought rate was very reasonable. Food at adjoined Shelly's was very good as well. Thanks Best Western Lamplighter for the pleasant surprise as not what I expected.

« Nice place, reasonable price.... couple of minor issues. »

Nice place, I have been here on many conferences over the years. Decided to stay the night with the kids because of the nice atrium and pool w/slide. The central pool, slide, gardens, etc... are beautiful. Well maintained, very clean, unique. One huge dissapointment was the "security" person who raced over to my family to inform us that we couldn't drink any beverages around the pool. Nothing, not even water. Note: Our drinks were in plastic cups, not glass. This person went on to inform us that it is provincial law (its not). Other best western hotels allow this without issue provided the drinks are not in glass containers.. Our room wasn't cleaned on arrival, but someone came to look after it. Staff was awesome about opening the slide anytime the kids wanted to use it. Breakfast was very reasonable and tasted great.

« I wanted late check out. I have a card that is suppose to give me special privileges I was told no. »

I was very disappointed with the service. No microwave in room. I went to Walmart and bought one. Late check out wasn't available. Too expensive. Hotel across the street quality inn has a full kitchen and pool. Large suites and always gives me late check out. I should have stayed there. Only 5 tickets per family so not all my grandchildren could swim in pool. Very disappointing

With palm trees and gardens in this huge atrium, nice hot tub and pool, balcony with screen door open, overlooking the Atrium, created an exotic vacation feel right in the room. very relaxing, Would gave given a 10 but no microwave, in a king suite...???

Our family loves this hotel. They always request it. I stayed there recently because my mom was doing treatments at hospital close by. It was very convient with in walking distance. Staff in the restaurant are very friendly. Front desk staff also very friendly. Very easy to communicate with the front desk when you need something because they set you up with text messaging once you arrive in your room. Always recommend this hotel to anyone going to London.

« resort in the city »

I stay at the Lamplighter every year for hockey and baseball tournaments. Excellent amenities and service for kids and teams. Parents can sit poolside, in the gazebo or on room balconies overlooking the pool and slide while their teens and pre-teens hang out in the games room or swim while parents watch them poolside from the patio outside their rooms. The restaurant has a perfect menu for families and for evenings snacks after a late game. modern, newly renovated appearance.

« Hotel Great, Problems with Breakfast »

My daughter and i stayed at this hotel due to it proximity to Victoria Hospital as she had an 8:30 am appointment. She requires wheat free foods which made our orders special, I realize but it took 30 minutes to get our food. The gluten free bread had poppy seeds on top which she can not eat and there was a lot of oil on the home fries. A poor start to the day!

Pleased with overall experience. Just a short visit to London for family get-together. Room was clean and front desk staff were friendly. Restaurant was clean and wait staff was helpful. Location was satisfactory for purpose of visit and accessibility to room was good. Parking was adequate and close to entry doors. Bathroom was well stocked and clean.

    « awesome family experience »

Stayed on a Saturday night and kids enjoyed the pool area and watched movies before bed in the comfort of a pull out which is not normally the case. Room was very large as we were upgraded as a Diamond member. No concerns and would recommend this hotel and will be back.

« Great Place to Stay »

Rooms are clean, great pool facility, kids had a ball on the waterslide, our family has stayed twice and both times were great. Decent prices as well. Restaurant was a bit pricey and slow but overall a good experience.

« Beautiful Decor, very clean and friendly staff. »

Really enjoyed the stay for the price. The atrium is amazing! We didn't get a chance to try the food or to swim but we will definitely stay again and try them out. The only odd thing is that the sink was outside of the bathroom and it made me nervous that it would wake the family everytime it was turned on in the night.

Great hotel . Our visit was for hospital apt. Hotel offers a shuttle to and from hotel and at no charge. Awesome service. Driver was very friendly. We always stay Best Western when we can, but got to say the quality and value of this hotel is superior.

« Fun for the kids! »

We stayed at the Lamplighter over a PA Day with our daughter and it was a great time. The room we got was not the room we booked and Tania went above and beyond to move us immediately to another room. The rooms are clean and well kept and the bed is incredibly comfortable. The rooms are really quiet despite there being a lot of noise at the pool. The pool and water slide were a lot of fun. Not huge but still fun. Other reviews indicated rude pool staff that wouldn't allow drinks on the deck, but there was no issue when we were there. There were a number of hockey parents and there was no issue with beer cans in coolies. The only challenge was that there were far too many people in the hot tub at one time, and most of them unsupervised kids. Would totally come back again.

    « Very Nice Hotel! »

We stayed two nights for a medical appt and had a fantastic stay. The hotel is beautiful and they have done amazing job with the decor. The hotel looks like a 5 star hotel as soon as you walk in. Check in was seamless and toiletries were provided when asked at the Front desk Positives: - The rooms are clean and practical. - Pool and Atrium are amazing. Has large pool and hot tub. Did not use the waterslide but looked awesome. - Business Centre available although not used. -Close proximity to hospitals Negatives -No Microwave in rooms - A shuttle is offered to transport guests to medical appts. We had a noon appt at St Joseph's medical centre. When we called the night before we were told to call in the morning to arrange transportation. The next morning very early my wife went to arrange the shuttle and was told it was transporting 3 people at 11:00 am to the other hospital and would not be back until 12. Our appt was for 12 so we had to cab it. When we were done at 1:00 pm we called to possibly get pickup, we were told the shuttle just left to take people to the other hospital and would not be able to get us until 2pm. I know it is hard to meet all guests needs but perhaps they need another shuttle. One for each hospital. -Bathroom is outdated and while clean could use an update and a fresh coat of paint as there were several chips of paint missing. Aside from that though we enjoyed our stay and would stay again if in town.

« Great hotel and conference center in London »

Attended this hotel this past week and had a very good experience. Clearly the hotel and conference area has been renovated and had a nice fresh look to it. The hotel also has a huge indoor atrium with a pool and water slide. Some of the hotel room have sliding patio doors that overlook the pool of the ground and 2nd level. Hotel staff very polite and professionally and quick to respond. Restaurant and bar at the front of the hotel has a large menus and some really good food. Hotel is also just located directly across the street from the London hospital.

We keep coming back for the service and the rooms it by far the best hotel that we have stayed at and each time we come there it is another good experience and my granddaughter loves the pool and the water slide that the hotel provides my daughter and I love the hot tub it is so relaxing. The location is very central to the malls and the children's hospital which we all enjoy and use We feel that if you are looking for an overall stay and good experience we recommend that your stay here will leave you wanting to come back to experience all the things this particular hotel has to offer

« Excellent - will definitely stay again! »

I arrived at the hotel and was greeted Lyod who checked me in quickly. I asked if room service was available as I was under the weather and really didn't want to go out - thankfully it was. I went up to my room which was evidently very newly renovated - very nice and spacious. I ordered a salad and phoned home - my salad arrived before I even finished my call. The salad was delicious. I went to bed and was surprised at the comfy bed and pillows. I can't say enough about the bed and pillows! I left early in the morning and left my do no disturb tag out because there was no need to have the room cleaned. When I returned there was a note that if I required anything I could just call. I then dropped back into bed and again got a great sleep thanks to the mattress and pillows. I cannot express enough the quality of the bed - I struggle with sleep while travelling - I didn't here! There is no question about where I will stay the next time I'm in London. I just wish every one of the cities/towns that I have to overnight in was of this quality.

    « Great Pool! »

We stayed here to celebrate our sons birthday and booked our stay around a hospital visit. We were even offered a special hospital rate! Loved the pool. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. Would have liked a free breakfast but other than that very enjoyable stay.

    « Fantastic »

The staff is amazing, We had a medical emergency and required 2 rooms on short notice. with a late night check in. They gave us a Hospital rate which helped out immensely as I was paying for these rooms unexpectedly. They are the closest hotel to the hospital. The rooms were super. With the pool it was quite loud with kids running around but under our circumstances it was perfectly fine.

    « Always Great Stay »

« Traveling for family event »

I wish I could rate worse than one star. To start both my wife and I are disabled and the only way to reach our room was upstairs or to walk down a long hotel hallway. We had bags and where other hotels would offer bellhop service or maybe a cart here there was none of that. We asked for a more accessible room and were told that wasn't an option. When we found the room we were disgusted by the cleanliness of the room, the floor of the bathroom was covered in water because of a leaking shower head. We tried to call the front desk but the phone didn't work. If we weren't obligated to stay because of family we definitely would not have stayed.

    « Most Comfortable Beds! »

This BW Plus is beautiful. When I see a BW like this, it makes me proud to be a rewards member. Visited this place twice, coming and going on a bus trip to and from Michigan. The entire place is a site to behold especially the pool area featuring a water slide, whirlpool and waterfalls. We had two breakfasts and dinners provided to us on the tour. Dinners were 5 star quality. Breakfasts were "soup to nuts." My only suggestion would be to provide fresh oatmeal, plain yogurt, fresh bananas and a variety of berries. Not all of us want grapes/melons as the fruit and not all of us want bacon, sausage, eggs, pancakes, etc. Beds were the most comfortable I've ever slept in while away. No hotel in the states that I have stayed in has felt as comfortable. I looked forwarded to the end of the trip when we had one night again here. Suggestion?: Provide signage to find the way to rooms.

« Amazing stay and excellent service »

We stayed there while getting some medical treatment. When we arrived there had been an error with the booking. I was greeted by Andrew and he was very polite and professional. Andrew took the time to go over the situation with me and assured me that he would sort it out. He did just that and set us up with our exact needs. The room was clean and the pool area was very family friendly and had a mini resort feeling to it. The housekeepers I passed daily in the hall were friendly and helpful. Any questions that we had were answered quickly. Something as small as needing some new towels in our room was done quickly just like the front desk staff member Megan said it would. This place made a tough week that much better and we were able to look forward to getting to our room after a long day at the hospital. We are always loyal Marriott travellers however, this BW lamplighter Inn is well worth a try. I will go back there again! It is staff like Andrew that make these places great!

« Best beds in London, my new go to hotel when in London on business and pleasure. »

Despite being on the "main drag" the rooms are very quiet and the beds are fantastic. I always have a 4 hour drive to London and when I get there I can't wait to get into the the most comfortable king size bed and read until I fall asleep. Pool is lovely but not really ideal for little ones as the water slide is for 4 feet of height and up. Located in an easy to access everything area.

« Our go-to Hotel when we stay in London »

We live in BC but our family all live in the London area. We try to get back at least once a year. If we're going to fly in late at night, we usually stay at the Lamplighter for the first evening of our trip. We have never had a bad experience. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room is always clean and comfortable. And I like the fact that there is a decent restaurant right on the premises. See you next year!

« Room Smelled Like Vomit »

Our room smelled like vomit which was originally masked by air freshener. We reported it after our first night but there was no record of us bringing it to their attention. The room attendant also had severe body odor which lingered in the hallway. They eventually gave us 25% off or our bill - but in my opinion - that was not enough.

    « BW Lamplighter London »

Great space with clean and tidy rooms. Beds and pillows were fabulous. The only thing we found strange, was that we inadvertently walked through a wedding ceremony. I would have thought that ushers would have been at doorways to prevent this. We felt that we were intruding - but didn't realize the ceremony was on until we were well into the room (atrium overlooking the pool)

One of the nicest BW hotels we've stayed at over the years. The room was very comfortable, plenty of free parking, conveniently located on Wellington St, restaurant and bar connected to the hotel was very good, staff excellent, room was sound-proofed and I got a great night's sleep. This is the second time we've stayed here overnight on our way to Northern Michigan and will be back again next year.

    « Great spot »

Oir atay here was short but it was clean and the staff were amazing. It was nice to get a text asking how things were going. When you're busy you don't have time to discuss the details or some concerns with the hotel. Two small concerns: The pillows were the kind with big foam chunks in it, that was horrible. The other one. After coming back from hockey my picky eater wanted mac and cheese(kraft dinner to be exact) I attempted to order room service at 10:03 and they were not able to provide. Not that it's a huge issue. I understand. They might have gone home and they were closed at ten. It just would have made my stay a ten had they been able to provide that and didn't have pillows that restricted my neck the next day.

« WOW !! You have to check it out ! »

Between Business and Pleasure visits to Best Western Properties this one has exceeded all expectations. I stay at Best Western Hotels 60 to 70 nights a year and am very rarely disappointed. « Comfy Beds, Tired Bathrooms »

I stayed here for a Conference nearby. The price was right, rooms clean and bed comfy however, the bathrooms are cramped and tired. There is a toilet smooshed between a bath tub and shower. The tropical rainforest atrium and waterslide look pretty neat though. I think this hotel is a great value.

Generally OK stay. Good location. Close to LHSC for surgery. Didn't get the extra blanket we asked for. Did not get the breakfast due to surgery date too early. There was a dirty sock left in our room. The service in the restaurant was slow, as there was only 1 staff working. It's the best Best Western I've stayed at, but not the worst Best Western.

Stayed here three nights for a conference. Room 372, view of the parking lot but the room is amazing. Jacuzzi tub and fireplace! Too bad it's too hot outside to have a fire. Lots of conference rooms, the space is great. Atrium and Pool is amazing with a waterslide that's actually worth doing. Waterslide staff were really nice to stay open a few minutes more so I could have a slide as I didn't get to the pool until 9 o'clock. Love the rock decor around the slide. Couldn't be happier with my stay here. I would love to come back.

    « Hot weekend for a Wedding »

Great facility to host a wedding. Pool was fun for the kids! Rooms clean and beds extremely comfy!! The temperature was on the warm side near the ballroom which made it difficult for the guests to keep cool, given the 39+ degrees outside this was understandable. Public washroom facilities near the ballroom required more care and attention during the wedding.

    5
    « Tropical Swimming Pool »

The bed was comfortable but the Mattress pad was pilled & I found it uncomfortable. Our private dining room was beautifully decorated for a group of ladies. We had stayed here on a previous reunion & chose it again.

I was very happy with my stay at best western lamp lighter. It is a beautiful facility. My room was very clean. I found the bed very comfortable. Checking in and out of the hotel was very easy with friendly staff. They checked in with me through text a couple of times during my stay to make sure I was having a good experience. I would definitely recommend others to stay here. Thank you

I stayed at the Best Western Lamphouse in London Ontario while attending a conference. The cleanliness of the room, the comfort of the bed and the excellent services both at reception and in the restaurant/lounge was excellent.

The room was large and clean. The room had a tub and separate shower great idea, kudos! Great flexable staff. Amazing atrium pool area. We had all our needs meet and exceeded. The location is very convenient. We had to short a stay wish we didn't have to leave so soon.

    « London Business »

Was asked to complete a rating of the hotel via text. Gave a low score because my window was a portion of the wall (not a full window like other rooms). Hotel offered to switch rooms at 11:30 pm and sent someone to help. I wasn't about to wake my kids so told them to follow up with me in the morning. No one ever did.

    « Beautiful Hotel »

This was our second time here, rooms are clean and pool and atrium are beautiful My only complaint this time was that we waited for an hour to get into our room. They offered us ten dollars at the restaurant AFTER we waited and had a drink - so we never got to use that. Hot tub in the pool area was also broken. These are the reasons I wouldn't give it an 'excellent' rating at this time.

« Enjoyable stay at the Lamplighter Inn »

We visited this hotel with my sister in laws and their families. The kids loved the pool and water slide but the adults were greatly disappointed that we received no compensation for the broken hot tub and a cold response from hotel staff at front desk regarding the issue. My daughter left a pair of Birkenstocks by the pool at the end of the evening and they were not there in the morning which was a little upsetting to her and staff were not able to locate them. The beds were extremely comfortable and quite clean. We had an enjoyable getaway with family despite the issues.

    « Lamplighter Stay »

Our kids loved the pool and the pool slide and could have stayed at the hotel 24/7 for this reason. The hotel is located in an area of London that is accessible to highways and to the downtown area. The hotel staff are helpful and prompt in service.

Thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, cleanliness and helpful, couteous staff at "The Lamplighter" and would recommend it to anyone spending time in the London, Ontario area. Great for couples and families alike...the Atrium offers a 'taste of the tropics' to relax and unwind. We'll be back again.

    « Wonderful mini vacation »

Great place for a overnight or 2 day stay with grandchildren. It is a very clean place and notice there is always someone around cleaning, (e.g.) even mirrors on the walls. Cleaning staff is very personable as well as any staff you might need to speak with. I noticed this time however that a gentleman was being brought in by his daughter, I believe, and there wasn't a handicapped entrance suitable to cross the wheelchair over. My daughter in law ran over and held door for them. If there is an entrance elsewhere I apologize, perhaps they could have entered at the front door. Shelley's is an awesome place to eat. This is the 3rd. or 4th. time we have been here this year and am quite satisfied.

Members of my family have stayed at the Lamplighter Best Western many times. Each visit has given us a good night sleep with all the necessary amenities. The Pet policy makes us feel welcome with our Dog and cat. The Pet friendly rooms are not a run down space as with many hotel. Our Pet room was lovely, clean and new. Our children enjoy the large pool with the water slide. Its and extra lovely space for a family when traveling across Ontario! This was my 6th visit to the Lamplighter and again, I was not disappointed. This is a great family hotel!

« Wonderful place to stay! »

This hotel was absolutely BREATHTAKING, the Atrium and Pool was my absolute favourite. The pool is a taste of a warmer climate, without the traveling required. The best place for a stay-cation. The staff went above and beyond for everything we needed. They responded in a timely manner, and I was always greeted with a smile. We required a pack n' play for our daughter to sleep in, as well as a few extra things and they had absolutely no problems getting us what we needed. The room service was wonderful as well, GREAT food and HUGE portions for an affordable price! Our room was the perfect size, and I appreciated all the amenities. The hotel is gigantic with three different wings all surrounding the pool area, some with even a lookout to the pool. It was just the most wonderful experience. The downside seemed we were in the same hallway as a bunch of groups with preteen/teenagers. As parents of a small infant, it made bedtime difficult. However, that is not the hotels fault. I would HIGHLY suggest staying here, they made our two day stay wonderful. It was the best hotel I've ever stayed in, we will be staying here from now on. We actually extended our stay by a day, just to soak up the fun in the pool area. We totally didn't expect our experience, as we just needed a place to stay because our house had a flood. I think we will need to take more stay-cations and hang out here a few times a year! The only feedback I have would maybe have a little spot for the younger children, under 3 or 4 years of age. My daughter (14 months) had trouble in the pool with the active older kids not paying attention to their surroundings. So maybe a little playroom somewhere like the games room or small wadding pool, something for the littles. Otherwise it was wonderful!

    « Baseball tournament »

Our whole baseball team along with several other teams stayed at this hotel. Great pool, one of a kind with a great slide for the kids. Very large pool which accommodated a lot of teams that weekend. The rooms are nice and big which is great. I could appreciate the hotel staff not wanting us in the hallways when teams were grabbing a bite to eat together, however, they should have allowed us to use one of their several meeting/conference rooms for a small cost, not the price of a full room rental. They are very strict on their noise policy which I appreciate especially after 10:00pm and a long day of baseball.

We were drawn to this hotel because if their pook and atrium. After friends and family highly suggesting this hotel as a great family hotel for the kids and great online reviews we decided to try it out and so glad we did! We will defiantly be back. « Fun mini Break »

Stayed one night midweek. Did this to avoid staying at hotel with sporting groups staying for tournaments, (many bad reviews on line from those in the groups and not in the groups), and because the room was $60 less per night midweek. I found the hotel staff friendly and helpful. Hotel was clean and well presented. Pool was better than expected, it was not packed to the brim, waterside was an extra bonus of fun. Was happy to see life guards on duty too. Had a lovely breakfast in the restaurant beside the hotel. Only downside I found was that the wash hand basin was not in the bathroom but just outside the bathroom door. Also being a hotel with a pool somewhere to hang wet swim suites would be a plus.

    « A Great Weekend »

My wife and I decided to get away for a weekend at The Best Western Plus Lamplighter Inn. We had previously stayed at this hotel and were extremely pleased. The hotel exceeded expectations again! The staff are pleasant and very efficient. We were greeted with a sincere "Good morning" each day not only by the front desk staff but by maintenance staff, managers and everyone who represented the hotel. This was a great start to our day. We had booked a room with a view of the fantastic atrium and could not have been happier. Our room was well appointed with a great view. I sometimes have trouble sleeping in hotel beds but not this time. The mattress was incredible! We both slept better than we do at home. We have already booked for a weekend in September to watch the London International Airshow (the best Airshow in Canada) and will look forward to another stay at the best hotel in London!

    « Never been disappointed »

We stop at this hotel often on the way to Windsor. We have never been disappointed with any aspect of our stay. From friendly and helpful check-in to the pristine condition of our room, there is never a wrong note. Just recently we visited with our granddaughter who loves the pool and the waterslide. Service in Shelley's is superb- they go out of their way to please. This hotel always gets a two thumbs up.

    5
« First time but not the last »

Kids loved the pool and waterslide. Beautiful skylights over pool. The staff was friendly, the halls and rooms were nicely decorated and everything was clean. We were not expecting the pool area to be so nice, it felt like we wee at a fancy resort that cost way more than it did. The first thing my kids asked when we got there was when can we go back? My only knock on the place is that I wish there was breakfast included, the prices were a little high for breakfast at the restaurant that is attached.

    « Good stay »

Clean hotel in great location. Lots of free parking, and the attached Shelly's restaurant is very convenient for dinner/breakfast/lunch. We had dinner at Shelly's with some family members who live in London, and called in for take out breakfast in the morning, they offer great value breakfasts and kids options. We chose this hotel cause of the pool/s and it's great reviews. Unfortunately our 5 year old (who is one of the tallest in his JK class was not tall enough to go down the slide. Shame on us for not measuring him. We assumed he would be fine as he goes down slides at Great Wolf Lodge and community swimming pools all the time. The slide at LampLighterInn is nothing spectacular so he was bummed that he couldn't go on (at least at Great Wolf Lodge you can say he isn't tall enough for the more "dangerous" slides) Which brings me to the pool. Another shame on us parents as we didn't bring pool toys. We went on a Sunday/Monday overnight stay and there were birthday parties or just big families with lots of inflatable pool toys - it's hard to tell your kids that they can't play with them when they are just laying at the side of the pool to look at. So we got drawn in by the pool feature of the hotel, but ended up just going for a short swim. The hotel offers a cool "text" feature. You can text the front desk any questions you have and you get a text response back in record time, neat!

The hotel is centrally located for ease of access to major facilities in the area. It is very clean and presents a comfortable, spacious and well designed layout. Staff are very pleasant, accommodating and knowledgeable about the surrounding area's facilities, offerings and access to a variety of conveniences. Located on a bus route it is also within walking distance to malls, restaurants and attractions. A major draw for parents is an on-site water attraction featuring a water slide.

    « Fun family getaway »

Our family of 4 stayed for 2 nights over the weekend. All aspects of the hotel were very updated and clean. Beds were comfortable. The highlight is the atrium/pool area that feels like a tropical oasis - loved all the real tropical plants, fish, and overall general theme. The pool and waterslide were very well supervised by lifeguards and clean. The front desk staff were very responsive to our questions (love the ability to text them instead of calling!) The restaurant onsite (Shelly's) had great food and drinks at a reasonable price (we ate there 3 times during the weekend because it was so good and convenient!). Overall, great value - we will return :)

    « Great pool »

We took 3 of our grandkids here for overnight and swimming. Mini vacation. The rooms are large bright and clean. There was a fridge and a safe. We were on the swimming pool atrium. It was good except our air conditioning didn't work. We were offered a different room or a discount. We took the discount and stayed in the room we had. Should really have moved as it did get quite warm but that is on us. Overall was good and we would return.

« Location of room is very important »

We stayed at this hotel last year while in town visiting my parents and were so impressed that we decided to stay at this location again. Last year we had a two queen room with its own terrace to the outside on the first floor. It was bright, clean, spacious and just wonderful as we had our dog with us last year and the outdoor patio was great. This year we had to get a king suite facing the indoor water park(only choice on the website). Sounded good in theory. Well, the room was located on the first floor behind the waterfall feature(first room on the hallway from the front of the hotel). Although it was technically bigger than our room last year, it seemed smaller. It had a small living room with the bedroom facing the water park. This room seemed much more worn, it was dark and dank like a dungeon because the only window in the room was in the bedroom. The large window let in hardly any light because the 2 story water feature was almost right up against the window of our first floor room and barely any light could filter down past the behemoth. Luckily, the waterfall was not noisy and didn't keep us up at night. The room was clean but we tried to stay out of the room given the depressing atmosphere. We did not use the water park. We had to sign into Wifi daily and we couldn't get in after the first day so we had to get a different code. This hotel does not provide breakfast despite being a Best Western.

    3
    « Staff »

The staff was terrible, they had it or for us, we did everything they asked and we had a group of 13 rooms. It was a terrible experience, the hotel it's self was great for the kids but the staff gave us nothing but problems

    « 5* Quality at 3* Rates - This Hotel Rocks! »

The Best Western Lamplighter Inn in London is a gem. The owners take great pride in providing excellent service to their clients and they are going a great job. The Hotel has amenities usually only found in expensive hotel chains. You will get a great night's sleep on a lovely Tempurpedic mattress. Your room will be very clean and the beds will be made with lovely, while linens. Your standard room will have a refrigerator, coffee maker, hair dryer, etc. The young and young at heart will LOVE the water slide in the gorgeous indoor pool. By the way, they actually have washrooms right in the pool area! There is also an arcade and workout room. The staff are extremely friendly, helpful and professional.

    « Best place ever! »

Delightful staff, excellent rooms and service, and a good restaurant. We stay here as well because it is pet friendly. We also appreciate the hospital shuttle which gets us to important appointments. The pool area is like a tropical oasis with the most beautiful plant species as well as palm trees. Children obviously have a great time in this area and sometimes there are special events scheduled around the pool/gazebo area. We have notices that there are many banquets, conferences, special events etc., yet there is always available parking.

« Good overall hotel but..... »

The great thing about a hotel geared for families is that the amenities, particularly the pool and water slide, are very good. But the bad thing we found is there was a lot of children and many of them are out of control. We had stayed for 2 nights (Saturday and Sunday June 24th and 25th) and found each night a very different experience. Saturday's stay more closely resembled a frat house. The pool was absolutely packed and many of the parents in the atrium area around the pool seemed more interested in getting drunk then watching their kids. Later in the evening the kids were running and screaming through the halls until well past 11 pm. Sunday was totally different. The pool was less full and the partyers had left. The only other issue was both my sons cut the bottoms of their feet on something sharp on the bottom of the pool. They said it wasn't a piece of glass, rather it was the bottom of the pool. I emailed the management afterwards, and I am sure they will look into it. The rooms were very good and the beds were comfortable. We had breakfast in the restaurant, Shelley's, twice and it was very good both times. Staff is friendly and their service very good.

Great hotel; clean, big room (we had king suite), quiet room; nice clean pool. Will definately stay again. The room we had opened into the pool attrium. The pool closes at 10pm, so there was no noise after that. Nice real palm trees at the pool side.

    « Perfect Getaway »

« Power outage & noisy wedding party »

We got room 201 so the end of the hall. There was a wedding so we heard music & people till 1am. If you are able to get a room at the other end it would be quieter. The hotel also had 2 power outages. Once was a quick one. Less than 10 minutes. The other was a bit longer. Maybe half an hour to 45 minutes. We were at the pool at the time & they could not close their roof. It started to rain & then hail. Everyone rushed out of the pool at this time. It was definitely inconvenient & a bit scary. The roof was closed the next day so we went swimming & tried the water slides. Hotel was clean & had great staff. It was just bad for us because of he wedding & power outage.

« Great place to stay »

    « Best Value Ever »

Don't even think about staying anywhere else. I travel coast to coast in Canada and this is the best value for a Hotel ever. Absolutely immaculate in and out . Restaurant bargain priced (huge breakfast $6.25) and people actually come to eat here. Spectacular pool with Lifeguards. Rooms are very large and super clean. No issues at all.

    « Very nice model »

This is probably the nicest motel I've stayed at. I wasn't footing the bill so I don't know how much the room cost so I can't comment on the value. The room was comfortable, clean and reasonably quiet with good wifi service and sufficient electrical outlets. The grounds are mostly paved with asphalt but the Atrium pool looked nice but I didn't have time for a swim..

    2
    « Expensive noise »

We stayed in one of the honeymoon suites (not cheap). There was a rhythmic banging noise (sounded like a well pump) - loudest in the bathroom but loud enough in the room to wake us at 7:30am both mornings of our stay. It continued on/off throughout the day until about 10/11pm. I did not appreciate being woken early on our holiday. Hotel staff, other than sending up a staff member to listen to the noise (which by the time they arrived had of course stopped - but he did listen to the recording I had made on our cellphone and agreed it was audible and would inform the manager) were "unable to do anything". We will not be staying there again.

    « Avoid on weekends!!!! »

Have been here many times and just arrived today for a couple of nights. So far not off to a good start. Most of our stayed are Sunday to Wednesday nights. Learned today that coming on a Saturday is a major mistake! This is a big wedding and convention hotel. We often enjoy meeting a lot of the convention people at the pool and have never had an issue. Sadly we don't have that experience this time. Right now the hotel is over run by travel baseball teams. Parents are to busy partying to notice what a disaster their kids are. The pool and slide are basically useless to most other guests because it is so over run by unsupervised teen boys. I've been in and around busy pools before but this is so unsafe. The lifeguards have been completely useless when it comes to trying to keep control. We tried to swim im the evening but after being nearly jumped on and hit by balls we left. I spoke to a lifeguard about the issue but was given basically a this is the way they are... Kids will be kids... So much for safety as long as they're happy stand. I came back to the room and called the front desk. Was told that they would send a manager down to talk to the lifeguards. A couple hours later we went back to the pool and it was still the same story. Parents sitting on the upper deck to busy drinking to care to supervise their kids. So disgusted! Would like to know if this hotel has a Satisfaction Guarantee policy because we are far from satisfied! Hopefully tomorrow will be better so that our whole weekend isn't a wash.

This was my first stay in the London Ontario area, and this hotel made the stay very enjoyable. The breakfast discount made a good deal a great deal. The food was delicious and service was fast. The rooms are very spacious, clean with a very comfy mattress. The pool area is amazing with the water slide and indoor/outdoor feel to it. You will see what I mean when you stay here. Next time I am in London on business or pleasure this will be my first choice for lodging.

stayed over night for a conference, stayed in a king suit and found the room well appointed with things such a sitting room , two big screen TV's and a water closet with a separate sink and wash up area. Check in was smooth . Only suggestions for the room would be a TV channel guide and please make the AC a lot quieter( room 266).Pool and work out area would be hard to beat. Great place for a stay in London

« Great Location and Close to Everything »

The hotel was large and the room was clean and nice. The breakfast in their restaurant in the morning was fabulous. I get notifications when my credit card is being charged and I got two of them from this hotel for 2 different amounts. One is for the actual charge plus $25 for incidentals and the other 2 days later for the proper amount. It seems all hotels now are charging like this, but one gets taken off 3-5 days later.

    « Workcation Stay - Excellent! »

The Best Western Lamplighter Inn in London Ontario is an excellent venue. I attended a one-day work session and the staff were truly professional meeting our work objectives. The front desk staff were very welcoming and informative. The dining room staff were very pleasant and seemed happy to assist. The hotel is a treasure for the leisure part of my work/vacation with a swimming pool area absolutely beautiful.

    « Conference... »

I recommend this venue for attending, food and drink as well as conference facility for attendance. It is second to none for consideration of a family / business venue when required to attend a conference. Stay, visit and check it out!

« So Much Fun Easy Getaway »

The Lamplighter Inn was great. Our rooms were clean, large and the beds were so comfortable. When reserving make sure to ask for a room facing the pool. It's like a mini Melrose Place at night. Everyone sitting in their balconies overlooking the pool The pool is super fun with a great water slide. Take note-you must be 4ft tall to ride it. Upon leaving we booked our next weekend there. A great time was had by all. P.S. Don't eat at the hotel restaurant-our waitress was nice but service was dreadfully slow and the kids had to wait an hour for an average meal. I would understand if the place was busy but it was slow.

    « Very Nice Hotel »

The room as well as the service was good. I enjoyed my stay at the conference. The restaurant was reasonably priced. The room and the common areas were kept clean and tidy. I would return to this hotel again. Internet was always available and it was nice to have a TV in both the bedroom as well as the sitting area.

    « Amazing hotel! »

Overall experience was superb! Staff was extremely friendly and helpful, lobby looks amazing. I've stayed at this hotel well over 7 times (mostly when I was younger) and have never been let down! They are constantly renovating to make the hotel look modern and "up to the times"! The pool... the pool... the pool! The pool area is absolutely incredible! By far the greatest pool you'll ever find in a hotel! The pool was clean, the water slide was fun, and the lifeguards were friendly! The rooms are average, nothing special but nothing gross. At the end of the day you aren't coming to this hotel for the rooms, it's for the pool! Had an absolute blast and would recommend his hotel to anyone who wants more than a conventional hotel stay!

We have stayed at the Lamplighter manytimes over the years for both business and pleasure. Good location - close to everything. You will not go wrong by staying at this property. This is a bonafide Best Western premium location.

« Stay, YES, eat, NO »

The Best Western Lamplighter Inn, London, ON is a very beautiful place to spend time and sleep. Even though my room was beside the atrium, I was never bothered by noise from that area. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean, comfortable and contain great amenities. However, if you choose to stay there, make sure you are able to leave the property for meals. Shelley's is in no way like the former restaurant at that location. Poor service, cold food that should be hot and sarcastic staff make dining there an unpleasant experience. Unfortunately due to the timing of my appointment at the hospital, I was unable to take advantage of the shuttle service but I thought the addition of that service would be extremely useful for anyone visiting the hospital several times during their stay.

    « Conference stay »

My wife and I stayed at this hotel recently for 2 nights while I attend a conference at this hotel in London. The complete staff in all areas; room, management, food and front desk were professional people who really care and provide great service in all the above areas. It was so nice to stay at such a well run hotel. We look forward to our next visit. Great job and thanks to all your staff. Oh! and a great pool...Wayne

We loved this hotel! Our room was on the 2nd floor of the atrium with a balcony. Pool was awesome and the hot tub was nice and hot. Our Son loved the slide! Has a games room and the restaurant on site "Shelley's" had great food, service and prices! Hotel was very clean!

The accommodations and the staff were awesome. The conference rooms and availability were perfect. The atrium made a perfect spot for breakfast, lunch and breaks, and the food was well prepared and never ran out. Staff were friendly and the room cleaning was well done.... maybe a little early 8:30 on average but well done

    « Wonderful hotel »

I loved the atmosphere and cleanliness of the hotel. Staff was friendly and checked with us via text if our room was satisfactory. I have stayed here before for a wedding and business and definetly would again, food in restaurant is excellent, however found hot food not even warm, which was disappointing.

Stayed one night, the stay was good. Not great not bad, just good. The hotel staff were polite. The room was a little worn. There were plenty of pets. It was nice to see a pet friendly hotel. We had heard great things about this hotel. It was not the place we were thinking it would be.

Great hotel for kids and groups! Amazing pool and customer service! Also love the text to front desk option as it made the whole experience super easy! Would go back in a heartbeat! « Never any issues at Best Western Lamplighter »

I've stayed at the hotel in total probably 10 times and every time it's great. I come for work as we usually have a conference at the hotel. The guest rooms are clean and tidy. The WIFI is perfect and easy to connect to. The meeting rooms are great ... podiums and microphones are modern and work very well. All staff that I have ever come in contact with are friendly and helpful. Tons of parking and multiple entry doors into the building so you are able to park your car close to where your room is. TV's are modern and all channels work. I have absolutely no issues with the hotel at all and would recommend it to everyone.

« best bang for your buck! »

We had the misfortune of having to attend a funeral/visitation in London and needed a place to stay overnight. I had been to the Lamplighter Inn for a conference many years ago and had been impressed with the food and quality of the hotel. This time we were pleasantly surprised to find a great pool/water slide/hot tub and LOVED the room with a balcony overlooking this area. The breakfast was extra money but at 30 dollars for a family of four was a steal compared to our experiences in Niagara Falls. If you are looking for a quick get-away with the kids for half of the price what you would spend elsewhere (ie Toronto or Niagara Falls), this is the place for you. We wil be coming back!

I will definitely be staying here again on my next trip to London.

« Best of the Best »

My husband had to have surgery at Victoria Hospital in London. We choose the Lamplighter because it accepted dogs and my hubby had a pre-op on April 10th. We were driving back from our Florida home returning back to Balsam Lake our summer home. We had our golden retreivers with us and looked on line for a hotel that would take dogs. Well we found the Lamplighter Inn and we were so impressed we went to book for when my hubby was having is surgery, however due to the popularity the hotel was already booked. My husband had his surgery and we stayed at another hotel which will remain nameless. When my hubby had complications with his surgery and had to stay longer I phone the Lamplighter and was thrilled to hear there was a room available for me. It was a very stressful few days at the other hotel with what was going on with my hubby just escalated the situation with how much I hated where I was staying. I booked into the Lamplighter this afternoon and cannot say enough about it. I feel like I'm in the Caribbean or at a spa, it is heaven on earth. I'm here for two days and I thank God there was a room available. The rooms, food, atmosphere is excellent and I would recommend this over and over again. Oh did I mention I'm a travel agent and very picky so the Lamplighter is a 5* plus in my books and I will recommend to my clients over and over again. Thank you so very much for making my stay here in London a beautiful experience considering what my hubby and I are going through with his surgery. P.S. Did I mention they have shuttle service to the hospital, can't get any better then this. Regards, Nancy Wilson

« Police force used to ensure no outside food »

If you are travelling with children or with a conference group or sports team this is not the place to go unless you want your kids to be confronted by armed police officer for having snacks that were not purchased at the on site restaurant. Policies are one thing, but having on site Police, not security officers is complete overkill for a family hotel barring some type of noise complaint. Stay at the Holiday Inn or anywhere else but here.

    « A night out!! »

Nice hotel. Great Staff especially at the restaurant. I liked that the front desk sent a text to see if everything was ok. The pool and waterslide were a hit with the kids. We were at the pool for at least 3 hrs. It is a very beautiful area and lots of chairs if you wanted to sit down. We will definitely go again.

    « Disappointing »

Location of the hotel is good however it was a sub par experience. The beds were extremely hard and pillows extremely soft. The pool area was good but the water was very cold. Couldnt enjoy it at all. Definitely not worth even close to its cost. Our room was on the back of the hotel with no connecting hallway to the main hotel unless we walked through the pool area.

This hotel is so much fun - imagine a waterslide inside a lighthouse! Really terrific, bright, and open indoor water playground for adults and children. Big, comfy beds and rooms with balconies, a terrace and/or a living room space to choose from. Beautiful meeting rooms with great service and an on-site restaurant and bar with good food and even better service. This hotel really has all that you could want for a business meeting, special event or family get-away.

We recently stayed at the Lamplighter in London Ontario. My husband and our three kids decided to get away for the weekend. Our trip was awesome from the moment we checked in until we checked out. The staff was friendly and helpful, and any requests were handled literally in minutes. The hotel was very clean and the kids enjoyed the pool and water slide. We will definitely go back, and can't wait until our next visit!

    « Nice, comfortable hotel »

I stayed here for one night on business, and was very happy. They upgraded my room to a king suite, which was clean, spacious and convenient. The bed was very comfortable, and check-in and check-out service was excellent. It is very close to the Westminster Hospital (walkable within 15 minutes). My only small complain was the fitness centre. While there was lots of physical space, it was sparse. Two old treadmills (neither of which worked), and manual (non-electronic, without routines) reclined cycle. There was a home-gym type of set-up for weights, but that's about it.

« Best hotel in London, Ontario »

The staff are courteous and knowledgeable and extremely helpful no matter what your needs are. The room was absolutely perfect and when I booked the room I asked for a specific area (facing the pool and on the ground floor) and they were able to accommodate me, which I very much appreciated. I stayed there with my daughter and two granddaughters and the kids love to sit on the balcony and look at the pool, when they're not in the pool having a blast!

« Sports event in town »

I stayed at the Best Western Lamplighter for three nights with my daughter for a tournament. Great pool and fantastic water slide! The atrium is a great place to relax and socialize with friends or family. It feels like a bit of a tropical getaway. The rooms are nice and clean and come equipped with a mini fridge for convenience. Located next door is Shelley's restaurant, which has a very nice menu with a great price point. One of the best parts is you don't even have to go outside to have a meal. The hotel is centrally located with endless restaurant choices from walking distance to a very short drive. I found all staff members very friendly and ready and willing to help if needed. All in all I wouldn't even look for other choices in that part of London if I were in the area again. I would certainly recommend this hotel as a great choice for a family getaway! Definitely the best Best Western I have ever stayed at.

« Clean rooms, nice pool area »

I was training for a long distance bike trip and this was the perfect place to stop for the night. The pool area is very cool and the water slide wasn't supposed to be opened but it was so that was fun to go down. The rooms were very clean and the hotel is big. There was a minor problem at check in but after a bit it go sorted out.

« We loved it here! »

Absolutely gorgeous room. The facilities are fabulous. The pool area looked amazing! The breakfast wasn't bad but next time I think we'll go out to a restaurant to eat. I appreciated that the front desk attendant texted to ensure everything was alright upon our arrival to the room. The bed was huge and comfortable, the spa bath was great, the shower was the absolute best! We will most certainly be returning.

« Best Best Western I've been to! »

We stayed here on our way to the USA on a recommendation from a co-worker. I try to always stay at Best Western and have been to many. This has got to be my favourite so far ! I love the fact that you get a welcome text and they check to make sure you are 100% happy. I asked for extra towels and they arrived within 5 minutes! The pool looked amazing but we didn't get a chance to try it- maybe next time. We ordered breakfast to our room which was excellent ! We almost stayed here a second time a few days later on our way back but they were completely sold out ! I wasn't surprised!

« Not even the basic necessities »

I had stayed at a Best Western in another town the evening before and was impressed enough to choose this location for our evening in London. What a mistake! From the previous location, I was quoted a rate at the Lamplighter however upon booking by telephone was surprised to find the rate $40.00 higher; again I had very much enjoyed my stay and agreed thinking availability may have changed. Upon checkin, the receptionist was friendly however didn't go over the usual information at all- I had to ask about breakfast and had to call down to find out the Wifi password. I don't believe the sheets were clean as they didn't smell fresh and still had the sign on the bed from the previous guest asking they be changed. As we had arrived late with the baby, my husband suggested this was possibly left by the hospitality staff which I thought at the time could be and perhaps I was overreacting. Unfortunately, the next morning I had a shower. All was well until i tried the shampoo. At this location they have wall mounted shampoo dispenser that was COMPLETELY empty. I pushed and pushed the knob to get out enough drops of shampoo to attempt to wash my hair but was sadly not even enough to make one bubble in the palm of my hand came out of this dispenser. Upon check out the next receptionist didn't ask how our stay was, only how I wanted to pay. So I waited to voice my concerns until their email survey came to voice my dissatisfaction and concerns about the basic necessities not being supplied since no one in person cared enough to ask. Upon my survey review I did receive an email from the manager of the Lamplighter informing me of how my previous experience at a Best Western couldn't be compared to their location due the difference in amenities and previous 40 year track record; is this a reply to a dissatisfied guest or a marketing advert?!. Although the Lamplighter had more amenities, they didn't have the basic needs of a hotel taken care of by cleaning and stocking our room before they put us in it. The reply of this manager has certainly changed my whole view of this chain. I have three trips planned for this up coming year and will not look at a Best Western due to this situation. As they one bad apple can ruin the bunch.

    « Wonderful beds! »

The hotel was great for staying with my sister for her husband's surgery. The shuttle to the hospital was very helpful, and returning to the comfort of the hotel was lovely. The beds and pillows were excellent, and the bathroom arrangement as well. Shower, bathtub and toilet in one room and sink outside. The room was spacious and comfortable, and very well decorated and clean.

    « Business/Family trip »

Very considerate staff. Atrium area is gorgeous. Felt like I was at a resort during my down time from work. Met other folks staying here who were visiting the nearby hospitals and had family who had surgery booked, everyone seemed to be enjoying the facilities. The arcade room was pretty oldschool but my daughter loved it. Weekend the pool was crazy busy with kids, but found lots of quiet time during the week to get in and enjoy. The waterslide was a lot of fun.

We stayed at the BW Lamplighter for our 25th Anniversary. We stayed in a lovely Junior King Suite. It had a very nice sitting room with a couch, chair and a very big TV; a desk along with another TV in the bedroom. The room was sparkling clean, the staff were very accommodating. Check in was quick and we used the express check out! Will definitely stay there again. We left a couple of small articles in the dresser and they mailed them back to us for the cost of postage!

This is our go to place in London Ontario. The location is fantastic - close to shopping and dining. The hotel itself is very clean and well maintained. It also is a very quiet location. The check in and check out was very smooth. Also the staff are very professional looking and acting. Definitely try this hotel.

« Clean and comfortable with cheerful, professional staff »

I've been to this hotel before but this was the best stay yet. On Thanksgiving weekend, we had a suite with 3 adults and a 20 month old. The rooms were clean, modern and the pull-out couch was the most comfortable one I've ever slept on. The front desk staff was professional and the chambermaids were very friendly and welcoming. Of course the atrium with the pool is why we came back and my granddaughter loved it.

« Excellent Customer Service and Hospitality »

I came down to London, at the end of September 2016 to catch a concert at Bud Gardens. I stayed at this hotel and it was wonderful. From the very first moment the customer service was tremendous. The room itself was also spacious and clean, and everything I needed was there neat and ready. The pool area is amazing and the fitness centre was great. The location is great as well and it was a very reasonable taxi fare over to the concert. I will stay here again for sure.

    « Perfect »

After a negative experience at another hotel- this was a pleasant surprise. I had asked for a quiet room in the back to be away from the crowd and I was happy with this choice. I was there for one night and I did not care to be near the pool area but if you are travelling with family- this could be a better choice. They offered me a pass for the pool but I was not interested since I had a busy day. The standard room with king sized bed is good sized for solo/couple and really clean. It had full length mirror which I thought was great. The wash-room had both tub and stand-shower. There was no hand shower but this could have been a nice addition and hopefully, the hotel management can look into it. The wash station is outside the bathroom which I thought was odd but again, it goes with the layout and you can see the pictures. They had bottled water, coffee maker and refrigerator but no microwave. Internet was high-speed wifi and the connection was good. Parking was free and it was easy to find a spot. There was a lot of towels and toiletries, etc. Breakfast was not included in my room rate.

    « Perfect »

Was here one night on business. I was pleasantly surprised how great this place was. The rooms are good size with excellent lay out/design. Very clean and comfortable. The pool, hot tub and slide are really cool as well. Excellent value for this absolute Gem. Look forward to bringing my family here one day. I know the kids would love it especially if there big kid father liked it so much! Definitely be staying here again.

Except for no free breakfast an excellent hotel. Location and appearance and cleanliness were superior. I would recommend this hotel if you are in the vicinity and if you have children the atrium pool and fitness area were beautiful

« Clean room overlooking pool »

We asked for a king atrium room overlooking the pool. Check in was seamless and staff was pleasant. Room was clean and balcony overlooking the pool is very nice. No complaints. Will be back. Close to many ameneties.

« only good part was the pool! »

I was really disappointed after reading some reviews for this hotel and found that the reviews were not what I found. The room was not too bad but the washroom was very very small and was falling apart. I stayed in room 124 right on the end and to my surprise you did not need to use a pass to get in any of the doors to the outside so anyone could come and go as they felt like. There were signs everywhere "beware" do not leave anything valuable in your car, obviously they had issues in this area. I was suppose to stay here for a week at the end of October but not a chance! I felt unsafe the whole stay, certainly not worth the money. I have to say this is the first Best Western that did not offer any sort of breakfast.

    « Excellent. Brilliant. Nice. »

I have been to a lot of hotels but this one surprised me like no other. For the cost, which was pretty cheap, I wasn't expecting much, just a decent few nights sleep whilst exploring the local area. My wife booked this one, she showed me one picture of the pool area and I said "do it" it looked great for our boy. It didn't let down and exceeded my expectations, the pool area was exceptional, the atmosphere great, room was large, spotless, the entire hotel was excellent. The staff here were so good that I felt like we were doing them over a bit on the price we paid. The service was better than any we've had. One of the best hotels we've ever stayed in.

« A great place to stay for a long weekend in London Ontario »

The London International Airshow was being held on the weekend of September 16th. My wife and I decided to stay for the long weekend. We stayed at the Best Western Lamplighters Inn. We were not disappointed. The Inn is much larger and more luxurious than we had thought. One has a a welcoming first impression when one arrives. There are well dressed, very professional staff to greet you upon check in. Our room was a nice size and well appointed. It is a small point but entry into the room is easy. Just a tap card as opposed to the dreaded slot sliding lock. The room was very clean and modern. The pool area is very special. It is huge! The area has a tropical feel with palm trees and all sorts of tropical fauna. There is a waterslide and importantly, there are 2 lifeguards on duty. I could easily imagine families staying during the winter for a weekend getaway. The restaurant adjoining is very good as well. It has a great menu and is very reasonable. "Shelly's Bar and Grill" is the name. Impressions? The London Internatioal Airshow is the best military airshow in North America and the Best Western Lamplighter is the place to stay for the weekend.

« Gets better everytime we stay »

Myself, my wife and three kids stayed over on a Sunday evening. Everything was great! We have stayed several times in the past and have recommended this hotel to many of our friends and Co worker's. It looked like minor updates were done to the property since the last time we stayed (about a year ago). It's nice to see that this property is being well kept and maintained. Staff was very friendly and rooms were definitely in our opinion 5 star! We will be back. Thank you to the staff and hotel for a great night away from home.

« What a fun face for families »

This hotel had a great pool area with a water slide. There was a game room. Room was very comfy and quiet. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was in a great location. Handy location to restaurants etc. including one restaurant on site.

« First time at the Best Western Lamplighter Inn »

I recently stayed at the Best Western Lamplighter Inn, while in the area for a medical appointment for my son. Although we have been to London numerous times, this was our first time at the Lamplighter. To be very honest, I was a little apprehensive booking at this property, as I normally stay downtown at some of the larger hotels in the city. Within minutes of arriving, my apprehensiveness was long gone, as I was immediately impressed with the EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE, the modern decor, and the CLEAN rooms, hallways, and pool area. I was met at the front desk by Karlee, who was very pleasant, professional, and welcoming. She took the time to explain the property, the area, amenities, pool, the nightly rate, among other things. She was professional, courteous, and is an example of what customer service should be like. She made us feel at home. After, she sent a text message to me, to ensure that everything with the hotel and my room were satisfactory, and asked that I text back if I have any questions, or encounter a problem during my stay. This is an excellent idea, and I took advantage of it twice during our stay. (I had questions about the pool area and check out). What a great service they provide. The room was clean, average size, and comfortable. The beds were perfect firmness and the sliding doors kept the noise from the atrium out. My only complaint about the room was the noise from the corridors. Very loud banging/talking could be clearly heard through our door. From about 6am-7:30am doors were slamming what seemed like every 3 min. Around 9:00, I tried to lay back down for an hour, as it was an earlier morning than I anticipated, but only to hear a very loud, continuous banging/grinding coming from the atrium. A maintenance worker was removing or repairing a section of the metal fencing. At 9:00am. Give me a break. A little consideration would have this type of work performed after check out time at least. So much for a restful sleep. The pool was excellent. Very warm, clean, well maintained, and the water slide was enjoyed immensely by my son. Really cool. This is a main attraction for this property, I would assume, and it didn't disappoint. The only other 2 things at the hotel we tried were the games room and the restaurant, Shelly's. Both were subpar. Some of the games in the games room ate our tokens. Some games not working, or in very poor shape. Shelly's was a similar experience for us. Nothing terrible, but definitely nothing I would recommend. Fair prices there, though....so it IS an affordable restaurant for being located inside a hotel. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Lamplighter Inn. The things that will make us return are the pool area, the cleanliness of the property, the unique environment, we loved our atrium room and balcony, but above all.....the service is second to none. Something is to be said about service with a smile. You definitely get it here. Thank you, and we will see you soon, Lamplighter!!

    « back again! »

so I was here a year ago and loved it. I am not a finicky traveler I am easy going and done expect a lot a nice clean bed is pretty much all i ask. the pool was a little bur but it was still pleasant. the one and only thing with this entire stay that I was not impressed with and i will go into more detail in the restaurant review but the room service was not worth what i paid for. i paid over 65$ and that included an 18% gratuity charge.. 18% was ridiculous the guy who brought us our meal would barely say a word. my "garlic bread" was two of the smallest bread sticks i have ever seen. the dessert was amazing, i wish i took a picture of the mile high cake so good! Very disappointed that the restaurant literally advertises their "famous" corn bread and our ribs didnt come with it. by the time we realized it the restaurant was closed so they really reall didnt deserve 18% grat. the front desk staff and even the house keeping we came across in the hallways where so friendly lots of smiles friendly and helpful. my only problem through out the whole thing was the room service which is again more the restaurant not them. the atrium where the pool is so such a nice little get away relaxing. clean beds so comfy I am 7.5 months pregnant and let me tell ya best night sleep i have gotten in a while was in the hotel bed! lol so thank you for that!

« Great atrium, beautiful flowers »

I loved the room, which opened onto the central Atrium which was surrounded by beautiful tropical trees, plants and flowers.. It meant that I could walk everyday without going outdoors. The fitness centre was amazing too. So bright with windows and a skylight.

« Year After Year It Gets Better »

I book at the Best Western Lamplighters Inn every year with with grandson and now 2 grandsons! They are so very accommodating and an absolute pleasure to work with. The rooms are always extremely clean, room service is spot on! The staff at the front desk welcome you like family. The pool is fantastic and having our room over looking the pool is great for the kids. The interior restaurant, Shelley's is a must! We love everything we've ever had there or ordered up to our room! The staff when either in the hall ways or at the pool have been more then happy to help you with any questions you may have. The hot tub is a huge hit along with the games room for the boys or the workout room for the adults! Going back next year for our 5th year in a row!

    « AMAZING EXPERIENCE! »

We traveled to London for the Air Show 2016 and decided to stay at a hotel to avoid the over 3 hour trip one way. We booked through CAA and was impressed with the photos of the hotel, pool and restaurant. Well............the pictures don't do it justice. This hotel was amazing! The hotel staff are the friendliest, even walking around the hotel, which is beautiful, if you walked by a staff member, they would greet you with a smile.....so nice! They made you feel special...We arrived at the hotel, my husband checked in and we grabbed our bags and headed to the room. By the time we got to our room, I received a welcome text that was lovely and warm, saying hello, welcome and if we needed anything to call or text this number, which was great! When we got to our room, we noticed the fridge wasn't cold, so we called the desk and within 4 minutes a lovely gentlemen arrived to see that the setting was set to low and give it 10 minutes on high, if not colder, please call back and he will be right down. well, needless to say, we didn't need to call! We headed for the pool which was so beautiful! We were a little bummed that my son couldn't ride the slide as he wasn't quite 4 foot tall, but we were ok with that. It was just another reason to come back another time. We had a blast! We were going to go get something to eat somewhere but decided to hit the restaurant, what a great plan! The food is so tasty! The oven roasted chicken was to die for, my son loved his penne and the staff were delightful!~ After dinner, we then headed to our room to find the fridge temperature perfect. We wanted some extras towels and within minutes, someone arrived with them. I couldn't believe how clean and neat the rooms were and how prompt the staff were. The room being right outside the pool on the bottom floor was a bit concerning, thinking there would be a lot of noise and to our surprise....NONE..it had a great view too! In the morning we had breakfast at the restaurant before heading out and again, just so tasty again! The Salmon melted in your mouth and my husbands waffle was so yummy! I am definateley going to stay here again with my family and you will not be disappointed if you choose this hotel. Even though we encountered some issues with the fridge, they were quick to resolve and did it with a smile. It was an awesome start to our mini vaca weekend to the Air Show! The welcome text and after checkout text when we were on our way to the Air Show Sunday was welcoming and a nice touch to say how much they appreciated our business. Great to see how some places still go out of their way to please you and make sure you have a wonderful experience. thank you for making our family's weekend great!

    « Impressive!! »

I stayed at this hotel while attending a conference. I was very impressed with the service, the catered food, the cleanliness and the interior look and feel of the hotel. The atrium of the hotel is just absolutely stunning. It's like a tropical oasis that takes you away from everyday life. The man-made waterfall, the beautiful fish swimming in the water and the tropical plants are so well taken care of and perfectly placed in the atrium. Its a must you must to take a moment to sit and relax in this area of the hotel. And you can take a swim as well by the pool. The suites are laid out nicely and clean and the service from the time you walk into the hotel is welcoming and repsonsive. I would definitely come back to this hotel if I ever come back to London.

    « Fantastic hotel »

This hotel is my first choice in London whenever my son's ever had a tournament in the area. The pool and water slide are fantastic. The area is central for many amenities. The room was clean and spacious. I would highly recommend this particular hotel.

    5
    « Comparison »

In London I need a suite so I can work in a separate room without waking others. The Auality Inn and Suites is less expensive and you get less. The Best Western is more luxurious and so sometimes I pay the extra. The breakfast is not included but the restaurant serves a $6.25 Breakfast more than I could eat.

    5
    « Great pool »

We choose this hotel for the good reviews and we love it. Great pool, great staff, very clean. Near to the hotel you find good restaurants. We will be going back for sure. I would recommend to families with small kids.

    « Perfect weekend lodging »

I was so impressed with the service we received while we stayed at this location. The lady at the front desk was courteous and inviting. The Hotel itself is beautifully designed and it was perfect for my son to roam around and explore. The room (263) was more then comfortable it had a TV in each room and it was climate controlled. The pool was just perfect and it made our stay much more fun.

    « Great stay! »

This was my second time staying at this hotel. Both times service was excellent right from making the reservation. The rooms are lovely and the restuarant has excellent food. Room service was on time and food was hot. They also have rates for travellers visiting London for hospital reasons. Phenomenal service and would recommend wholeheartedly. Two thumbs up!!????

    « Great for a BW. »

Took the family using my points. Hugh room. Carpet was stained bad. Bed was nice. But the best part was the pool, but not any pool but a pool with a spiral slide out of a lighthouse. Cool. Kids loved the pool.

    « University Visit »

Great rate for great accommodations! Comfy beds, clean rooms and good water pressure in the showers (not always the case in most hotels). The water slide and pool made us feel like we were on vacation. Despite facing the pool area, the rooms are very quiet. Will definitely stay here again on our next trip to London.

« Mini trip with the kids »

We all really enjoyed our stay. Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and the hotel service is wonderful. We originally had a room overlooking the parking lot and since we were only staying one night I requested if there was a room overlooking the pool area. They were very accommodating and were able to give us a room overlooking the pool area. My kids who are aged 7&10 loved the water slide I actually went down a few times myself and we all loved it. We will be returning in the near future!!!! ??

« Best Birthday Party Place! »

We just celebrated my daughter's 10th birthday with 12 guests plus ourselves. We were in Room 147 (important because you get additional 'green' space outside your room) which was situated perfectly outside the lighthouse waterslide. Juan was so efficient and quick to bring tables and chairs so we could set up for the birthday party, and was friendly. Our room was clean and neat and they have updated many of the rooms along the back of the hotel. I would highly recommend having a child's birthday party at this location. The package we got did not include food, but I called Papa John's next door and they delivered pizzas to us exactly at the time I asked!

    « Great mini vacation! »

I brought boys my to the Lamplighter for 2 nights and they had a blast. The rooms and pool area are immaculate. Easy to get to, the location is perfect for shopping, dining, and sight seeing. It's also ideal for just lounging around at the pool area. This was not our first time and it won't be our last. It is an awesome last minute getaway without breaking the bank. Make sure to ask for an atrium facing to get the full tropical effect.

    « Great Family Stay »

Well, to start this was our first visit here. The Best western plus near us, has rooms that walk out onto the play area from the ground floor, so based on other review here, we requested that at this property. When we got to our room, the balcony looked out over the pool, (#177) but there was no immediate access. We decided to go look around the pool area and see if there were any other options, and we found rooms overlooking the pool, directly near a stairwell leading down to it. (#115 odd to #125). While exploring we ran into the manager, Jim Bay, and he talked it over with us, and quickly rearranged things to move us to our choice of rooms. (#115) it was great! We could sit and see the water slide and the pool from our vantage point, and the stairs to the pool were so close!! There are chairs outside each patio door with a small table, and the room was super clean and comfortable! These rooms have a queen bed and pull out sofa bed, which worked for us, the kids took the sofa bed -each have a tv too! We found out during the stay, that the rooms behind the water slide have 2 queens, but not a clear view as we had. We ate in the attached restaurant the first afternoon, and food was very good, and the server, Jill was very friendly and helpful! We ordered room service the second night and it was fast and delicious. Only negative really was the game room. 5 games and air hockey -run on tokens and vary between 2 tokens (1 game) and 5 (air hockey) tokens cost 3/$1. 2 of the games ate our tokens, and none of the games are very good for younger kids-at least ours (8,6) It was also very warm in there, and bright!! Kids didn't care, but as we didn't send them alone, we did! I didn't expect the size or set up of a large kid resort such as Great Wolf, but a little tlc here would be well appreciated. My hubby and I loved the 80's Galaga/Ms paceman. Although fridge included, a microwave would have been a feature we would have used, as well as a clothes hanger/dryer for wet suits. Also, other similar properties allow you to buy extra wristbands for the pool for visitors, at a day rate if the hotel isn't full, we would have loved to invite our friends over with their children, but there is only a max of 5 wristbands per room allowed. I understand when the hotel is booked, but as we were there during the week, it may be something for the hotel to consider.

« Overnight Late Check in »

I had to bring my husband to London for an early morning surgery. I asked for 2 beds but none available so I was upgraded to a beautiful suite at no extra charge and given a discount for medical. The suite was spacious and clean and comfortable. Great!

    « Family staycation »

When booking, I requested a quiet room as I am a light sleeper. Not only was the staff courteous and helpful, ensuring we were placed away from the elevator and ice machine, the hallways and recessed angled doorways ensure hallway noise doesn't migrate in. The room was immaculate. The separate shower (with a seat), and tub were a blessing with 3 young ladies and myself utilizing both at the same time. And the beds..... slept all night in luxurious encompassing bedding - no complaints. Check in was very quick. Staff extremely courteous. Texting a welcome and allowing response via texting to the front desk was extremely efficient. The breakfast package was very reasonable and provided by Shelley's. Excellent value, great service and good food. I will definitely make a point of coming back.

« Wonderful hotel for a family reunion »

    « Concert »

Was a great place and close to downtown Will stay there again for the Eric church concert coming up in Feb. The pool looked clean our room was clean. Wasn't a fan of my truck near the asphalt repairs on the roof that were going on. I moved my truck and all was good again. Large parking lot

    « Nice relaxing stay »

Room was clean as was the entire hotel. Constantly saw people cleaning the hotel common areas. They could pick up trays left in hallways from room service quicker. Everyone was friendly and courteous. They need to enforce the rules on kids in the hot tub. All in all a nice two night visit. Will visit again. Family oriented hotel with lots to do around you.

    5
    « Pleasantly Surprised! »

Was visiting friends close by and decided to stay here. Nice surprise as the hotel was very clean and tidy and the pricing very reasonable. I would definitelystay here again when I come back to London.

    « Feels like a resort! »

Great resort-style hotel with large pool with tropical gardens. Clean spacious rooms, nice hot showers, lots of parking space. The restaurant on site is not that great, however there are many other places nearby to eat. We would come back just for the pool, it was nice and warm.

« Great facility, limited pool access »

We appreciated the comfort, quality, and convenience of our room. The pool seems to have limited hours on the weekends, often being closed for weekend weddings. This is not communicated well in advance, and seems to be conveyed by signs posted the day of the event(s). Overall, we were happy with the service and facility, and loved the breakfast (available for an additional cost).

    5
« Great Hotel in London, Ontario! »

This was our 4th or 5th time staying at this hotel and I must say that it is great! Always consistent in how it looks (very clean, well kept, up to date) and the services it provides! We have our grandchildren over to use the pool facilities and they love it - plus the pool/atrium area is gorgeous! All of the people we have encountered who work there are very pleasant and helpful! We will be back for sure!

    5
« Even without the kids! »

When you think of this place you think somewhere to bring the kids. Nope even without them you can have a resort type feel with a relaxed well cared for atmosphere! It was certainly a different experience. We had a late supper and drinks in the atrium where were able to sit talk and enjoy the sound of the waterfall and the beautiful surroundings. My one complaint is there is no sound proofing between the doors and wall to the hallway. It being a fairly newer area of the hotel we were staying we were very dissapointed to find that we can hear everything and anything coming from the rooms when walking down the hall as well as everything and anything from the halls when in the room. Other then that it was incredibly clean and even have "clean remote" ! There were weddings and birthday parties going on and you could see the staff was making sure they were very well cared for. We would go back for sure with or without the kids.

    « Very good accomodation. »

Clean well-appointed rooms. Excellent sleeping comfort, very helpful front desk. Plenty of chain restaurants nearby but not central to the downtown core. It was a $15 cab ride to the Budweiser Centre.

    « Always Great! »

We have stayed at the Lamplighter numerous times over the last few years, the rooms are very clean and modern and the beds extremely comfortable. The staff are great and very accommodating. The atrium pool area is fantastic with a very tropical feel. Shelly's restaurant has excellent food and service. Makes for a great family getaway.

« Fantastic place to stay! »

The hotel and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. The atrium is gorgeous with tons of healthy plants and a great pool area. A terrific value and a perfect location close to restaurants and shopping. There is even a shuttle to Victoria Hospital/LRCP if needed. We would definately reccommend this hotel. A fantastic place to stay with polite and friendly staff!

    « Absolutely wonderful! »

Stayed here only one night during our family's summer vacation travels. Booked the room ahead of the trip and was very happy with the hotel once we arrived. Upon arrival the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our room was really nice, very clean and very spacious. The kids enjoyed the pool area as well. I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

    4
« Spacious and great pool »

We stayed for three nights with 1yo. Plenty of space for travel cot, easy access from car to room. Really good pool to swim and play in (not so great if you want to do lengths). Food in immediate vicinity is reasonable and there is a huge mall down the road if you fancy that. You are well placed to drive to see local attractions, we were only an hour to Pinery national park by Lake Huron. Good value if a deal is on

    4
« Great hotel with good amenities »

I am going to give a review based on past stays here. The pool is always fun. It was a bit of a let down that the slide was closed but with feeding the fish at the pool and the pool and hot tub it was not so bad. We have always liked our rooms previously but this time we noticed that it was starting to look outdated and a bit grim. The bathrooms for sure compared to newer hotels needs a face lift. Our room had an old 13 LTR toilet which is a complete water guzzler. The room itself feels out of date except for the tvs and the sink area. Other than that though the beds are comfortable and everything feels fresh. The staff are friendly at the front desk but the pool younger staff seem not too enthusiastic to be there and that everyone is an inconvenience. They were friendly though in getting the kids fish food for the fish. This is a great value for a hotel with these amenities but needs some minor touch ups to make it up to date. I still will return and think it's a great place to stay

    « Amazing »

This is the place we stay when coming to the London Cancer Clinic. We love the resort feel. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. We love the fact that there is a tub and a separate shower. You have Shelley's restaurant on site with great food. The pool is amazing! If you have kids this is the place to bring them. They also give hospitals rates which is helpful. The grounds are kept up as is the entire place. Very clean and elegant .

    « Second time around »

My husband and i have been here before. The first impression lasted because we thought the hotel was awesome! This time we just stayed overnight for our trip to Montreal and since webleft home late, we needed a place to stay before heading straight to Montreal! We never had second thoughts of choosing this hotel for the night. Its close to town, gas station, not very far from the highway but the hotel is in a secured location! The only thing i don't like is how stingy they are with their breakfast! They don't have a full breakfast! Your complimentary breakfast is made to order from 4 menu choices and if you choose another, you'll have to pay extra. I had Sunrise breakfast: 2 bacons, 1 teeny, weeny egg, 1/2 of the plate hash browns, 2 slices of bread and a slice of orange and grape + coffee and/or juice. I ordered my egg to be crunchy on the edges but i guess the cook does not follow instructions! Over all they have different amenities in the hotel which i think is the biggest asset. If you have the stay there, you can just skip breakfast thought the ambiance was great!

    « Great conference place! »

Food was a disappointment. Restaurant! Service slow and presentation -1 flavourful-1. Very slow with completing transaction. Conference was a success otherwise. Hospitality room was sufficient & well stocked. Catered food was excellent much different than restaurant.

    « A perfect spot to rest! »

I was traveling with 4 kids and a dog..our end location was Montreal. We'd had car trouble, car sickness, train delays and I am not sure I could have found a better place for fun, relaxation and space! Saved our trip! The pool was super clean, the staff was helpful for room service, (though the pizza that was delivered was gross), the beds were clean and so so comfy. Posted the pictures to Facebook, and everyone thought I was a super hero for picking that place to stop after a long day. It was great! Am planning on making it a special stop on our way back to Chicago!

« Not our best experience here, but still a good deal »

I bring my kids to the Lamplighter every year for a mini vacation while visiting relatives in London. Every year, we have a 5 star experience. This year was a bit different, but still a good trip in all. The big disappointment was that the water slide was closed for maintenance. To be honest, the water slide is the main reason my kids love this hotel so much. Other than that, everything else was really good. Our atrium room was perfect and I do love how you receive a text soon after your arrival to make sure everything in your room is acceptable. You can text the main desk for anything you need throughout your stay. We will definitely be back again next year.

« We found our favorite place to stay in London! »

I booked this hotel because I had to go to London with my two kids for a couple of nights. It was great. My kids said wow as soon as we went into the room. It was clean spacious and my son was impressed with the new flat screen tv. I knew before I went that the slide was under repair which was fine as long as I knew in advance so I was prepared. Nothing like going somewhere and being disappointed. The pool, hot tub and the nice little waterfall were great. I loved that the roof opened so it was just like being outside. The real palm trees inside were so nice and gave it an amazing atmosphere. The gym was clean and you had a view of the pool area. The little arcade was fun because it had classic games I could play with my kids. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved that I could text requests to the office. It is right on the main street so lots of restaurants and things to do either walking distance or short car ride. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. With my oldest going to Western I'm sure I will be seeing this place a lot over the next 4 years. Already planning to go back in October.

Stayed with the whole family (including our dog for some nights). The pool, hot tub, and waterslide are awesome!!!! Had a great breakfast every morning at Shelly's. Everyone was really friendly and accommodating! Will definitely stay here again!

    « Extended Family Visit »

We wanted to bring our young children to Storybook Gardens & Adventures on Wonderland. This was a great hotel to stay at between day trips. The kids LOVED the pool. My daughter like the many fish in the pond. One of the hotels employees gave her some food for the fish, this was the highlight of her trip! Room service via text messaging was VERY convenient. Restaurant was also good.

The Best Western Lamplighter offers a great place for our family to stay as we have 4 children under the age of 5. The pool was a great attraction for them and will be the highlight of their summer this year.

    « another great stay »

very nice hotel, we paid the extra for a room in the atrium area which has a balcony overlooking the pool; very beautiful view. My children adored the waterslide and pool. Great to have the extra space in the suite. well worth the money. front desk staff were very efficient and friendly and as we arrived early, my room was not quite ready, but they sent me a text when it was.

« Family Road trip stay over in London »

We were on a family visit to London, Ontario. The hotel was great.. The beds were excellent. The mattresses were very comfortable. Two queen beds with two side chairs , table, fridge, tv ... We were too tired from our driving to enjoy the pool but it looked great. The hotel is very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a small dog and they gave us a full package of doggie bags and a plastic water and food bowl. I would definitely recommend staying here.

We were really pleasantly surprised with our stay. The room was really nice. The pool and games room/restuarant on site made it a great stay for my kids. The pool is very warm and features a fun waterslide that my son loved! Would definately stay here again!

« Best Western Lamplighter Inn, London Ontario »

Very nice place to stay. the Atrium and pool were almost resort quality. There is a waterslide and hot tub as well as a large swimming pool. Great place for families. Only drawback was that breakfast was not complimentary.

    « medical stay »

awesome hotel beautiful pool area great restaurant shuttle driver was a wonderful lady made my daughter feel safe as she drove us too our appointments at the hospital (make sure to tip her she deserves it wish I cold remember her name), they take the over flow for Ronald McDonald house and that is how we had our stay there very polite staff if I need to go down to London again this is where I will stay.

My son enjoyed the pool and waterslide. It would have been nice to know that we could not use the pool when we arrived due to a wedding so we could time our arrival differently but was otherwise an enjoyable stay.

    « Great Family Getaway »

We visit twice a year as a tradition. Always fantastic service! Beautiful hotel and atrium. We higly recommend this hotel to families. So much to do, centrally located to the mall and great restaurants.

    « Excellent accomodations »

We were so pleased with this hotel. The location was convenient to shopping, restaurants, the 401. The hotel itself was updated completely, exceptionally clean, comfortable, the room had a fridge and a safe, staff were very friendly and responded immediately to all of our requests. We had our dog with us so they gave us a room that had patio doors that opened up right on to a grassy area. They have a system where you can text the front desk with any issues. They answered texts within minutes and sent some to check upon us. The kids enjoyed the indoor pool area with the small water slide - it was beautifully landscaped in a glass atrium. The bathroom area was a little small with separate bathtub and shower. The shower curtain was a little too short to prevent water from splashing in the floor. Also we wish breakfast came with the room. Otherwise we totally enjoyed our stay here and will definitely stay here again.

« Family trip to london »

We arrived just after 3pm on Thursday and checked into room 120. Our room was only a few steps to the pool. The pool was busy but we were able to stay for a few hours and have some fun and the kids loved the water slide. Lifeguards were on site and watching the slide closely. The pool also has a hot tub and towels available. The hotel and pool were clean and the staff friendly. I would recommend to families or anyone who is looking for a place to stay in London. Parking was free.

    5
    « Great stay »

This hotel was very clean, had all the amenities we needed, and the staff in the restaurant and lounge were exceptional. What a fantastic pool and water slide. Unique experience. This would be wonderful for a family with kids.

« Home away from Home »

My son, daughter and I travelled to London for my daughter's surgery. I chose the hotel specifically for the pool and slide so that the kids could have a little fun before my daughter had to go to the hospital. They had a great time! After the surgery, the room was an excellent place to rest and recover. Not only did the hotel staff go out of their way to ensure our comfort, the room itself was large, comfortable and very clean. We would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great place to stay for a weekend or a week! Many thanks to the housekeeping staff for their kindness as we spent a lot of time in the room, making it difficult for them to get in and clean. They were amazing.

« Visit to the Doctor »

This place is awesome! Had a follow-up visit at the London University hospital. This hotel provided a "medical" rate which was very fair and a great room which was like a suite. Friendly staff that provided information that led to a fantastic dinner downtown. Their hospitality helped calm nerves and make for a pleasant stay. Great location to downtown and nearby pubs. One of the "best" Best Westerns I've stayed at (and I have stayed st a lot both in Canada and the US). I will be back!

This is our second time staying here and we haven't even checked out yet and I am planning our third visit! Hotel is beautiful, clean, staff are excellent. Pool and slide are so much fun for the kids. Great location close to restaurants and shopping. We made great use of the games room, in room movies, guest laundry and the atrium seating area overlooking the pool. We will be back again for sure.

« The Pool Is Worth Staying For! »

This was our 3rd visit to the Lamplighter. We were in town for an event at Budweiser Gardens. The parking is super convenient and has easy access to the rooms. We just had a basic room. One thing I was disappointed in was the charge for the cot. While only $10, we got to the room and the cot couldn't even open up. We had to pull the mattress off the cot and my son slept on the mattress on the floor. Again, it's only $10 but it would be nice if we were told it didn't actually fit! Another disappointment was the cleanliness of the room-- this shocked me considering we've stayed before and had no issues! There were hairs in the bathtub and while my son was lying on his mattress on the floor, he noticed whoever had stayed their prior to us had clearly spilled their pills on the floor. I picked up and threw out 4 pills. My kids are older and know better but this could have been extremely dangerous for a little one! The pool was spectacular as always, and the main reason we stay here. Breakfast at Shelly's is also good as well. It's definitely a great value and we will be back!

    5
« Extremely happy with our experience at the Lamplighter! »

Our son's wedding was at the Lamplighter so we were there for rehearsal, dinner, brunch etc and everything was top notch. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our suite was huge! We had a full fridge, sunken living room, huge bed, separate Jacuzzi and shower. We loved it and entertained over 30 people on the day of the wedding. the food for the wedding was excellent and the rehearsal dinner and brunch at Shelly's(restaurant attached to the hotel) was very good and reasonably priced. I would recommend hosting a wedding there to anyone who asked.

    5
    « Good experience »

We had a good experience in this hotel. The pool is beautiful. My daughters had a great time in the pool. This place is a little bit noisy. During our visit a lot of children was noisy and few dogs barked. But not during the night. The rooms were clean and smell good.

    4
« Modern, clean with nice staff »

Very nice reception and helpful staff. Although we didn't use the pool, it looks great. Hope to come back. The waitress at the restaurant was friendly and nice. 10 minutes from the freeway. Overall remarkably clean and efficient 4 to 5 stars

We had an Awesome time, wonderful stay and lots of fun with grandchildren. Pool was fantastic, staff always friendly, good food at Shelly's Restaurant, very clean hotel and planning to go back as soon as we can.

« We travelled to London for a doctors appointment and to try one of their golf courses. »

The hotel was very nicely decorated inside and outside, the hotel staff was very professional and knew the surrounding golf courses in the London area. The pool area was well maintained and clean. The pool was monitored by lifeguards.

    « Exceeded Expectations »

My wife and I drove from Detroit to use this hotel as our headquarters to enjoy some of London's attractions. We had our three small children (7 and under) with us and thought they could use the pool while we took a break in between activities. Little did we know the kids did not want to leave the pool and the water slide. The staff was extremely considerate and engaging. They treated our kids kindly and made them feel welcome. The hotel was extremely clean and well maintained. (I saw a gardener misting each individual palm leaf with a hose and sweeping the brick pavers free from dirt as well as a maintenance worker measuring a small crack in the drywall located in the gym for a repair.) Staff was everywhere and available. And the food and service was excellent at the Shelly's Restaurant attached to the hotel (we don't usually do restaurants with our small children but all was great.) We are definitely planing on staying at this hotel a couple times a year. Don't hesitate if you are considering this hotel for your stay.

    « London Lamplighter »

Extremely clean and rooms fairly sound proof. The pool and hot tub were clean and not over chlorinated. The children loved the slide and the oasis atmosphere was beautiful and serene. Plenty of free convenient parking. Also mini fridge and outdoor patio included with room charge.

« En route to Wisconsin »

This was the perfect place for our family to stay while en route to Wisconsin. It was easy to find, had great amenities for us and our dog. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a great time in the pool atrium area where the water was clean, the water slide was operational... we enjoyed the retractable roof.

    5
    « A Tropical Paradise »

Each time we travel the Highway 401, we never miss a chance to stop at the Lamplighter. We just love the Atrium full of tropical flowers and plants, event palm trees all around the very warm pool and water fall. We appreciate the restaurant Shelly's so much, that we never eat outside the hotel. There are plenty of parking places. The rooms are spacious and we always use the mini fridge and the free Wi-Fi. Every employee is professional. Last, and not the least, the hotel is clean through and through.

    5
    « Beautiful Freindly Hotel »

This hotel is very clean, beautifully decorated and the staff is very friendly and careful to make you feel welcome. The restaurant is great for families and the pool and waterslide are a great feature as well.

    « A great pool and price »

We stayed on the way to Niagra Falls and I picked it because my son loves to swim. The pictures of the pool were accurate and the pool was very clean. The staff was helpful and friendly. The room was also clean.

    5
    « Ideally Located! »

This hotel is perfect for a family get away. The atrium hosts the pool, hot tub and water slide. Lots of tropical plants to give you the feeling of being in a resort down south. The hotel has great facilities for conference and business meetings. Love the restaurant. Affordable prices and great menu. Hotel is surrounded by lots of chain restaurants, Red Lobster, Mandarin, and LCBO is within a ten minute walk. Right across from St Joseph's Hospital, so ideally located.

    « Made my stay »

I was very pleased with the location, pool, restaurant ... In a nutshell, the whole facility and staff. Walking down the hall to the room, I realized I had made the right choice for the night. After a long distance arriving here was a much needed break and the hot tub fantastic on my muscles. Very comfortable bed and pillow and blanket. Beautiful resort feel. Thank you... I needed this stay at the location.

« Quiet family getaway, clean, and great food. »

Our yearly visit to this hotel never disappoints. Our room was clean with no surprises and close to the corridor and restaurant which was nice. Connie checked us in and was very professional as she was training a new employee. Later she called our room to make sure we were comfortable and settled. The continental breakfast in the "Pasto's Grill" was very adequate with items such as fruit, scrambled eggs, French toast, sausages, home fries, yogourt, cereals, toast, muffins, English muffins, juices, tea and coffee. The service from Katherine was friendly with a smile. Never disappointed staying here which is very conveniently located right off the 401.

    « A Great Local Getaway! »

We enjoyed our one-night stay as a local getaway. It's nice having a great hotel with a great pool London! Did you know its home to one of the largest retractable glass atriums? The rooms are nicely decorated with some advanced technology features for the rooms such as USB capability.

    « Pleasantly surprised »

This hotel was recommended by a family member we were travelling with. Front lobby was gorgeous and modern and we were very impressed. However we became very skeptical when we saw the dated decor in the hallways to our room and thought that we would not be staying. Boy what a pleasant surprise we got when we walked into our room. Our room was on the Atrium side, large and very clean. Modern decor inside and the beds and linens were dreamy. Room was equipped with fridge at no extra cost which was handy. Loved the pool, hot tub and slide. Great place for families and adults only too. Love that it was not too far from the university.

    5
    « Excellent time again »

Our baseball team stayed at the Lamplighter for the 2nd year in a row. Again, an awesome experience. The pool is always amazing and the kids love it. The parents minds are at ease with all the lifeguards. The staff were great (as long as you didn't have obvious booze containers in your hands). The one-site police officer was also cool and didn't give us a rough time as long as we behaved. Overall, a great time and highly recommended.

    5
« On Our Way Back... »

We were on our way back from a family wedding and needed a room for the night on our way home. This hotel is just great. Convenient location with everything you need near by and the restaurant in the hotel has a great breakfast. It's very large and you could spend hours wandering the halls looking for your room and everything else but the staff are quick with directions and a smile. The only downside is that our young son wanted to use the large water slide in the massive pool complex but alas it's only open from 1700-2100 on week nights. Maybe next time?

« Best Western Lamplighter, London »

We chose to stay at Best Western Lamplighter since we were going to be attending a function in on of the banquet-meeting rooms at that location. Our experience as a hotel guest was positive with the exception of having to wait for the pool to open at 8AM. I was also impressed venue as a whole as I have never considered the Best Western as a "conference center" but was impressed with every part of this facility. We look forward to a return visit, this time for pleasure. A tropical oasis indeed

« Nice Stay at Lamplighter »

The hotel is right off the highway 401 and convenient to get to. We were staying for a wedding and the rooms were spacious and beds were comfy. The only thing I did not live about room was the sinks are outside of bathroom. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful - the venue for wedding was nice and atrium was set up looking really good. Good choice to stay while in London.

    3
    « Fair »

Slightly disappointed. Rooms dark and if you overlook the pool, you aren't opening your blinds to get "natural" light when you are getting ready. So room lighting should be better. Room felt dingy. Beds were comfortable though. For the price, I was expecting more updated rooms. Was a little disappointed with the pool. Though love the balcony for sitting on when kids are in bed.

    5
    « Great value! »

My family and I love this hotel! The rooms are well appointed and clean. The beds are super comfortable too. Love the pool and the atrium. So nice to sit on the balcony overlooking it. Highly recommend this hotel to families. The restaurant on site is affordable, which is a bonus!

    « Wedding »

Quite a few members of our family stayed here for a family wedding, rooms were excellent, nice pool and waterslides. Breakfast was excellent. We walked to the Mall which was a bit further than expected, the receptionist said it was not far, but in 30 degree heat half an hour each way was not so good, but hey we are English, we coped!

« Not bad, great pool. »

Spent 2 nights there with my husband and daughter. The room was nice (for Best Western standards) and clean. The pool is very nice and the water is warm, but the slide only opens at 5pm, which was no good for us. We were on a tight schedule, so I put up the "please make room sign" @ 10am. When I came back at 2pm room was still not done. I called the front desk and asked for my room to be cleaned at 4pm and that was no problem. Wifi is not very good.

    5
    « Great stay »

Was great fun. People were kind and hotel was very clean. My husband and I were completely satisfied with our stay. Great for families as well and looking forward to bringing our kids for our next stay. I know they will love it like we did.

    « Best mini getaway »

Hotel is very clean ,front desk people very professional and friendly, rooms are very clean and well stocked . It's not just a hotel , it has this mini water oasis that feels like you are down south. Water slide in side a rock mountain, hot tub and fair size swimming pool , all heated. Game room has nice games for kids young and old . Go to the web side to find out more. We will be back. Enjoy my friends.

    5
    « Great value »

Good location, great pool and Shelly was good for breakfast. As an option a lot of other restaurants are very close. We had a king suite and were worried because there were a few weddings happening but it was quiet when we went to bed. The pool area while very busy was like a little getaway. We will definitely go back when we visit London again.

    « First family getaway. »

We decided to attempt a family getaway with our 3 year old and 9 month old, and we are so glad we did. We had a wonderful time and our 3 year old has already asked to go back!! The pool area was great, and staff were very friendly. We were given a standard room with two queen beds, but no patio area or anywhere to get away from the little ones when they went to bed. I decided to call and see if anything else was available and if it were possible to upgrade. Marshall at the front desk was so accommodating and moved us to a pool view room with a balcony. This made our vacation, thank you Marshall!!! My 3 year old hardly got out of the pool the entire time. Definitely recommend this hotel for families with young children, especially those who love to swim!!! We look forward to going back soon. Thank you!

    5
    « Pleasure trip »

« You just have to stay here at least once! »

This property is, to say the least, very unique. Do yourself a favour and reserve a poolside room. Great view of the tropic like setting, complete with an upper bar/lounge area that overlooks the pool and waterside! Very clean rooms and close to everything!

    4
« I really enjoy the stay your hotel »

The room I stay in it was nice plus able to try the jet out that in my bath tub for the first never try that before. The only thing I found that the towels there up to high for someone is short or if they were in a wheelchair. Plus it quite a distance to walk because I was way at the back of the hotel.

    5
    « Birthday celebration! »

Every year for our birthdays our moms takes us to this indoor paradise???? Shelley's bar and grill has excellent food right inside the hotel or Red Lobster is a 10 min walk located just down from the hotel. The sound of the waterfall and ambience of the sparkling water and pool lights is the perfect setting for an overnight peaceful getaway ! Location is central in London so there is lots of shopping if you have extra time!

« Want it for myself! I almost hate to publicize this place! »

Spent just one night for a wedding recently but we will be going back for a tropical getaway. We booked this as it was close to our wedding hall and were pleasantly surprised at all the "extras" we found. I had been there 25 years ago for several conferences but things have changed! The room was very clean, modern clean bath, and the added touch of robes and slippers supplied. Ironing board, coffee maker and fridge in room, as well as shower gel, shampoo, makeup remover, etc. Jacuzzi in room too. To top it off- chocolates on the pillow! Not a usual thing in Canada! The pool is the fantastic thing though. It is set up as a pool in the rainforest, complete with waterfalls, slide, flowers. Next time we will book a room overlooking the pool area. It is like being in the tropics for a while. It was very well used by kids on the weekend but during the week it is a quiet getaway. We are almost looking forward to snow so we can go enjoy! The dining room, Shelley's, was also very good. Fast, reasonable, nice décor. Definitely worth the trip. Also offer rates and transportation for people going to the hospitals, which is of interest to out-of-towners. They are doing everything they can to make your stay easy.

« Beautiful hotel room and fun pool »

The room was amazing. Very clean. The beds were so comfortable and the sheets are nice and soft. Nice big window and very spacious room. The only complaint I had was that the pool was cold. And I mean really cold, hard for an adult to get in.

    « Great Get-Away, close to home »

Top Notch Staff and Service - from checking in, to friendly life guards at the pool, to room service providers. Shelly's Restaurant has a great menu and great prices. Would definitely stay here again.

    « A great short family break »

We booked 1 night at the Lamplighter Inn, London, Ontario for our sons birthday. The pool was the main reason we booked this specific hotel and it was only 30 minutes from home. Good value for money for a 1 night break.

    « Always a very pleasant stay »

Once a year I have to go to London for a meeting. I always stay at the lamplighter Inn and have never been disappointed. There is a beautiful atrium with a pool, hot tub and water fall which we always enjoy. Looking forward to our next.

    « Wonderful "Staycation" »

We wanted to treat our 4-year old grandson to a bit of a holiday without going out of town. We booked one night (2 days) at the Best Western Lamplighter and it was an awesome experience. We booked a queen suite, which had two separate sleep areas. It also had a patio door and a patio with table and chairs outside the room, overlooking the pool. The pool was the main attraction for us. It has a nice 'resort' feel, and our grandson spent hours swimming. He was also intrigued by a large goldfish pond. The lifeguards gave him some fish food, and he really enjoyed feeding the fish. For breakfast we at at Shelly's. The service was great and the meals were awesome. I ordered a Mediterranean omelette that was the best I've had anywhere. I highly recommend the Best Western for a mini-break. Even though we live in London, this made us feel like we were on holidays - and it was just perfect for building memories with our grandson. He left asking when we can do it again :)

    « Beautiful hotel »

Checked into this hotel for business. Quick and easy check in, took less than 5 minutes. Had a room over looking the pool which was quite full of kids and families at the time. Could hear no noise in our room. Pool is beautiful with a hot tub and separate slide so the kids are not splashing into the main pool. The atrium and pool area is beautiful with the gardens. The room was spacious for two and clean. Beds comfortable. Bathroom spacious with tub on one side and walk in shower on the other. For the amount of people around the halls were quiet. Room had the standard coffee maker and fridge. Ample parking and free. Free wifi. Restaurant onsite, we did not eat there but the offered good specials the evening and day we were there. Comfortable and enjoyable stay

« Some Good Some Not So Good »

Living in London it's a great place to book the kids/grandkids. Lots of fun for them. Brough a water bottle and can of pop to pool. Nope have to leave. Went to the bar (closed) and the F&B Manager chased us from there too. Asked if the bar was going to open. Nope. Only March Break week. To get a drink you have to go all the way to the front to the bar order and then bring it back. No thank you. The pool area was packed and likely all rooms sold out but not enough business to open the bar? Not likely to book again with all the other options in town.

    « Best hotel in London Ontario!e »

From check-in to check-out, everything was perfect. We stayed in the Exec suite 101 which is perfect for visiting the beautiful water park/pool (a quiet area to sleep) and easy access to the parking lot. The room is beautifully furnished with a dining room table and a kitchen with an almost full-size fridge. The separate bedroom has a very comfortable bed, the linens are like new and the on-suite has a Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. There is a small bathroom off the living room and the pull-out couch and linens are good too. No detail is left to chance. If you are planning a weekend with the kids or a fun date weekend, this place would work for both. Don't hesitate. Book now.

    « Family Birthday Celebration »

Stayed here with family on Friday night. We had booked 4 rooms. One of the rooms we paid for the upgrade so that it was pool side and we could sit out and watch the kids swim. The other 3 rooms were at the end of the hotel. All of the other rooms around our room by the pool were empty. You would think since we paid for 4 rooms, that were overpriced to begin with, that they would maybe upgrade at least the grandparents to a room by the pool. All the rooms were nice but they were a hike from the pool. This hotel is ok, but for the price, I think I would choose somewhere else.

« Best hotel in London, ON! »

The BW Lamplighter Inn is the best hotel that I've stayed at in London, ON and the best Best Western hotel I've ever stayed with. The staff is very friendly and this location is the only one who seem to recognize my "Diamond" status without having to ask. The rooms are comfortable and clean. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone staying in London, ON. Thanks.

    « A truly great hotel »

This is my favourite Best Western in all of Southwestern Ontario, whether for business or pleasure the hotel is sure to please. Convenient to all of London and so very clean, the restaurant is great and the food is always good. I recommend that if staying see if you can get an Atrium room, so very nice to sit outside on the balcony if the weather outside is bad

The hotel is clean and friendly staff. Rooms are very comfortable and nice. The bed and comforter was above board. The restaurant attached to the hotel is very good. Wonderful staff, fair prices, good food and no nonsense. Good experience very close to the hey way.

    « Simple Getaway »

A very relaxing property. The pool area is fantastic. I wish there was some time for adult swim. Restaurant is a great value, menu has a good variety. Service is excellent. We had a room with a whirlpool tub nice option. Location of the property was easy to get around London.

    « wow! »

we were really impressed with this facility. the restaurant was a bonus surprise. excellent ribs for dinner, great breakfast special, reasonably priced for both. pool was impressive, we were too late for the waterslide but it looked like it would be a blast for kids

    « A Stay at the Lamplighter »

This is one of my many stays at this location and they have all been positive. The rooms are excellent and the restaurant is top of the line. There was a conference going on at the time and it made no difference to my stay. Well organized and no hassles for the guest. The pool was filled with kids and the room was quiet with no indication of any of the poolside activity. Always a pleasant stay here.

    « Very nice!!! »

Rooms are very clean and nice, the pool atrium is absolutely beautiful. The kids really enjoyed it! Located near lots of restaurants and stores. Price was reasonable for all the amenities. Would be a excellent place for a wedding and reception

« Great staff, great hotel »

The staff went out of their way to make my stay comfortable. The pool is a great way to round off a busy day, and the hot tube gave me a good view of the waterfall. The room was spacious and had enough outlets for my electronics. Food at Shelley's restaurant - great breakfasts, and dinner was good.

« Pet Friendly Hotel and Hospital Visiting »

This facility has very reasonable charge for accommodating one's pets. In addition the hotel wing with pet accommodation is the furthest away from the road and is very quiet and is surrounded by a green space. Guests that are visiting the area for medical reasons have an additional discount to their room rates. The hotel décor is modern with excellent pool area for young families. All the staff that we encountered were very friendly and courteous.

« Best Western best experience »

Was expecting typical chain hotel/motel experience, this Best Western far exceeded my expectations. Nice quiet and clean room, which was very close to the conference hall my seminar was held in. Food and beverages provided by the hotel was excellent.

« Cleanest hotel I have ever been in »

Took the kids down for a overnight mini vacation. The only small very minor detail, which did not affect our holiday at all was,,, upon arrival front desk staff is not very friendly,,they are very efficient in their work, however a little smile and small talk goes a long way with me. As well the waitress in the restaurant. Very good waitress, but very short and to the point, did her job very well, but with very little friendliness. I am from a small southwestern farming town, and I guess I am accustomed to more friendly small talk. This hotel is the cleanest I have ever seen, everywhere you turn the staff are cleaning, and they are cleaning things you wouldn't even think needed cleaning. We stayed in the pet friendly wing, and the smell was amazing, so fresh and clean smelling. The pool area was immaculate. the amount of kids in that area, ( 2 birthday parties as well) and it was being kept spotless. This is a great spot. Its like a little hidden gem in London. I would really be interested in finding some history on this hotel,,like how long it has been in London as I faintly remember staying there as a very small child but don't recall the atrium. Will definitely be returning with my family soon.

« Avoided A Close Shave -- Thanks to Best Western Plus Lamplighter »

I recently stayed at the Best Western Plus Lamplighter Inn and had a very good experience. Check in was a breeze and friendly. I was very tired from a long drive and ordered room service which turned out to be great -- Club Sandwich by the way. I left the next morning, but forgot to pack my container of shaving cream. No big deal, but it's expensive. I called the hotel when I reached Toronto. The General Manager assured me he would have it sent to my home address. When I did get home a few days later, the package was waiting for me. I'm impressed by this Best Western because every one of its staff were really courteous and helpful and kind. I really value that and will definitely stay there again on my way to Toronto. Peter G. Chicago, IL

« Great for a weekend NOT for a week »

Service was great, the hotel was clean and the pool was a nice feature for the kids. But we were set up here for a week as part of the Canadian National Ringette tournament; and this is not a place to be in for a week. There are much nicer suites in the London area for this duration. The mini fridge is mini and the temperature was off. It froze my fruits and veggies so we weren't even able to keep them around for our week long stay. I wasn't fond of the open door access to the wing we were staying in either. At one point there were people wandering our hall looking for restrooms from the conference rooms. There wasn't anything to deter people coming off the streets and roaming the hotel. I wasn't too keen on not being able to bring the pool towel to our room. Its pretty chilly running from the pool in your wet suit to your room. I did appreciate the daily replenishment of water.

« Awesome for business or pleasure! »

I stay annually for our companies training. Facilities are always great. A lot of improvements over the last few years. Food is always awesome too. My family visits at least once a year as well and uses the pool. Kids absolutely love it. Awesome place !!!!

    « Pleasant Surprize »

Stayed two nights. Hotel very clean and up to date. Pool and area with slide and waterfall was great attraction for children and was very well maintained and supervised. The room we had was very clean to the point of having a sanitized tv remote. Of note was the use of a premium hair dryer. Our room was away from the pool area and very quiet.

« Warm paradise all year round »

The atrium with natural tropical plants and water attractions (pool, spa, waterfall and slide) is a beautiful and relaxing environment. The personel is professional and helpful. The restaurant is very nice.

« Unreasonably Charged but Overall Nice Place »

Nice hotel, nice room, loved the pool and slide. Staff was kind. The price of the room was a bit much for what it was. My girlfriend and I got the king suite with the tub and fireplace. She had a smoke hanging her head out of the window and we wound up being charged an extra $200 claiming ashes on the windowsill (improbable from what I saw), dry cleaning for the drapes (they didn't smell), and closed the room for the night after our stay because of not having drapes. Highly doubt any of that happened. Just going way overboard to justify a ridiculously high charge for us having no affect on their business. I understand charging if people are unreasonable, try and lie their way out of the charge, and inconsiderate; as in actually making a mess or not caring about the hotels amenities, but we were none of the above. When I called about the charge I was just honest, open and overly apologetic about her actions and everything I've said here about our thoughts on the charge. This approach yielded nothing at all. Have to love a large hotel chain's response to a good and honest customer. Zero tolerance. At least the guy was kind on the phone. Not being a smoker myself, would I stay at this hotel again? Absolutely. Just cant help but be frustrated at the human relations part of this tale

    « Good Repeat Stay »

Stayed here for the second time, as I was in town for an event that was happening at the hotel. Check-in was slow as there was just 1 desk clerk, despite the hotel being completely sold out. This time, I stayed in a king suite, room 261, which was located in the "north tower". I had wanted to stay in the "south tower" because those rooms have Tempurpedic beds, but those rooms were all sold out. However, much to my surprise this room also had one (and apparently this was one of just 2 rooms outside the south tower that has a Tempurpedic bed!). If you're considering a Tempurpedic bed, this is a great place to try them out! I would have liked to have a balcony, but there wasn't one. Oh well! The room had a view of a waterfall in the atrium, which wasn't bad at all! Room was clean, except for a small stain on the mattress protector. Restaurant food was good, however, it seemed to be very disorganized. In all fairness, I won't get in to to detail because they did make things right, and did so proactively. I didn't get to visit the pool this time because of timing. I will be back!

    « Another good experience »

Met up with family on a mini-vakay. We got an atrium room on Easter weekend, it was a little pricey but figured what the heck. The room was immaculate, the atrium balcony did access the pool area, but not officially unless your kid hopped off by themselves. The atrium room was probably a waste, it was unexpectedly quiet however as we were just off from the waterfall and staircase, but you couldn't really hear that when in the room with the door closed. Rest of the family stayed in the end section, which has been renovated from my last review and was very nice also and also very quiet. The pool is great for kids and the whole area is very tropical. The hallways seemed very cool with the a/c kicked on, making it pretty cool by the time you got back to your room. But all in all it was a great trip and I would go again, but would be interested in a lower room rate next time.

« Awesome place. Wish we stayed longer. »

Had an investors dinner in London and decided to stay the night and bring the kids. I wish I stayed longer. The solarium is where you can have coffee and drinks overlooking the water falls and pool. The pool itself was great. There are change rooms, towel service, and chairs. Everything you need. They also have a fish pond with Koi fish. Best part was we got a room that walks right out to the atrium with the pool so getting in and out was easy. Room was very clean. Comfortable. For what you get, you can't beat the price and service.

« Great Stay with Young Kids! »

Nice clean room. Huge portions for kids meals at Hotel restaurant. Friendly service. Large pool, kids loved it. I would go back again with kids. Great family stay, close to lots of shopping and grocery stores.

    « Tropical Feel »

Excellent hotel for family fun and relaxation. Feels like you are in a tropical paradise even when its snowing outside. Great Bar and restaurant so no need to leave the hotel for anything. My husband even forgot his bathing suit and they had one his size for a mere $15.00 Kudos to this Hotel for all it has and all it does to make a guest feel welcome.

    « Fun times in a jungle atmosphere ! »

Great place for a family trip. Relaxing atmosphere with a beautiful pool and lots of amenities. Note: The room fees don't come with a continental breakfast! This would be an awesome place to hold a wedding and I am told they have them quite frequently. With ballroom of various sizes, they can hold multiple events at the same time.

« Decent hotel , good family fun »

Ok the rooms are huge!!! a bit dated and lots of wasted space but its all good. The pool area is not huge but lots of fun great slide. Bed was good , room was clean overall good experience. Price is a bit high in my opinion

    « No Accountability »

I have stayed at the Lamplighter with my two sons on several occasions. It is our favourite "stay-cation" place. We can't afford big vacations on March Break, so we chose carefully where to spend our money. As usual, the rooms were clean and comfortable and I really appreciate the in-room fridge. This time, though, I was disappointed in the lack of accountability from the front desk. Someone put too much chlorine in the pool, so we lost out on evening swim time. That was disappointing. The bigger problem was the next morning, at about 7:30am, when repairs began on the waterslide. We were awakened on our vacation to a sound like jackhammers! It was loud, disruptive and ongoing! Not how you want to spend your vacation. When I complained about this at the front desk, I was given a very glib response of "we didn't know they were going to do that." That is irresponsible. People have paid money for a vacation. It was someone's job to know what was going on. Plus, the hotel's repairs should not be allowed to interfere with the experience of guests, unless there is some warning or financial compensation. The person at the desk had a chance to make me feel understood, to show some empathy, to take responsibility, but he dismissed me. That is my lasting impression of the Lamplighter staff. It is what I tell everyone when they ask how my time was at the hotel. I will think twice about staying there again.

    « Wedding planning for 2016 »

I would like to thank the staff at the lamplighter inn london ontario. They are very knowledgeable and understanding when there is a budget in place for a fairly large wedding. We chose this site to host our wedding in July of 2016. Keep up the good work.

    « A wonderful family place »

This was a completely unexpected oasis. Beds were super comfortable, pillows were as well. In-room fridge was convenient. Our room overlooking the pool was lovely. Bathroom was great also. We stayed here with a hockey tournament and it was ideal.

    « Nice and Clean »

Pool was a little cool but didn't bother the kids. No slide if your under 4ft. My boy enjoyed his stay as we did also. Lots of natural light. Fish pond was nice. Had a great sitting area overlooking the pool area.

« Great way to destress but not 100% relaxed.. »

I totally agree with any of the others that said this place is busy on March break. My husband and I went here for our anniversary and there were definitely lots of kids and both pools, hot tub and the regular pool were very full/busy. The pictures of them on site look way larger then the actual size was, so we were a bit disappointed with that. The hot tub had a sharp step I believe it was the last one, if you have happened to of missed it, I did twice that he and I went in and I scratched my foot the 2nd time I had went in. The bed was hard, pillows were great and lots to choose from, very nice walk in shower, the room was very large and nicely cleaned. No complimentary breakfast included at this location being a Best Western Plus you would at least expect it.

    « During March Break »

Very nice hotel, but would not recommend during March Break with a family. Pool is not large enough to accommodate everyone and was "at maximum capacity" most of the time. Personally find the beds way too hard, but some people may like that.

    5
« march break holiday with 4 grandchildren »

we enjoyed going here, I took 4 grandchildren ages 6,7,11, and 12 they all loved the pool area, by the hour, clown that made ballons for them, and the young ones like the face painting, meal was very good at shellys.

    « Mother / Daughter Trip »

Stayed at the Lamplighter overnight while attending a concert with my daughter in London. We enjoyed a lovely dinner at Shelly's prior to taking a taxi to Budweiser Gardens. After the concert we relaxed in the room, each having our own queen bed -- so comfortable. The following morning, we returned to Shelly's to enjoy a delicious breakfast. All staff were very accommodating and friendly. Cannot wait to return.

    « Excellent as usual »

Third time staying at the Lamplighter Inn and was very pleased in all aspects. Decided on Monday afternoon to book for Tuesday and were very happy that there were still rooms available. We had a great time. The room was awesome!!

    « March Break »

I understand it was March Break .We went on the water slide then we had to wait almost 20 min to get back to our chair and towel as there was to many people around the pool.I did not like the wait at all!!

    4
    « Great Rooms »

The hotel itself is beautiful but the frustrating part was that the pool reached maximum capacity both nights that we were there and then it became a waiting game to get onto the pool deck. My nephew was upset because he said why do we have to wait. We paid to be here we should be able to use the pool and hot tub when we want. NOT RIGHT THAT THEY KEPT ON SELLING ROOMS WHEN THEY ASK HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IN EACH ROOM WHEN YOU BOOK. THEY SHOULD STOP AT THE 150 MARK AS ONLY 110 PEOPLE WERE ALLOWED ON THE POOL DECK AT A TIME.

    5
« stay for two nights »

We stay at the best western every time we go away, the hotel in London is one of the nicest best western hotels we have been at and the staff is the most efficient. The restaurant was clean and the staff was nice and the food was excellent.

    « Little family getaway . »

We traveled to the lamplighter for a little birthday party at the beginning of March break . Friday March 11 . We booked through airmiles which was awesome and saved us lots of money . Since we had 5 children and 2 adults we had to book 2 rooms . Air miles made the reservation but I called and kindly asked to be side by side . When I arrived I had my fingers crossed that they would be side by side which they were , the enterences were even kinda facing each other which made going from room to room easier .. we figured the pool would be crazy busy with it being March break but it really wasn't . 2 out of the 5 kids I had weren't tall enough to use the slide which broke one of their hearts . But the lifeguards were so nice but firm on the height requirements and they even let one of my kids keep them company while the others used the slide . She was soo happy , She kept calling them her friends and she and the lifeguards knew each other by name .. thanks Sam , Chris , Fin, Tre? They even took her to feed the fish . Everythime I went up the lifeguards were always laughing and joking with all my kids even the older ones which sang them songs and did funny things back . I'm not sure which lifeguard it was but my broken hearted child that couldnt ride the slide came back soo excited .. she said he told her that if she went to bed really good and got enough sleep that she could possibly grow enough to ride the slide tomorrow . I thank him very much on two different levels . Lol . The hotel was super clean , not one complaint , I even seen a maid cleaning the spiral cord to the phone . Great job lamp lighter . The next morning we had breakfast for 5 kids 2 adults all with drinks out meal was 49$ . The food was excellent the only thing I'd day is that there resturant staff didn't have personality . They weren't rude they were just there to do their job and not much more . Thanks for a great comfortable and clean staff . And an extra thank you to the wonderful lifeguards you have on staff ..

    « Same on you! »

I'm currently pool side at this hotel with my family. I was having a great time until a staff member came up to me and confiscated me and my husband's bottles of water. Yes I did see the big signs at the pool entrance stated "absolutely no food or drinks of any kind", but I still brought a bottle of water for each of us. I figured it couldn't mean water. I even saw someone with one which made me more confident bottled water is okay. Nope. This is not right. It's depriving us of a basic necessity. Swimming and just sitting at pool side in the humidity is very dehydrating. The pool is full of families. Poor children. This is not right and I'm pretty sure it's not legal.

I have stayed here multiple times and love the place. Great restaurant, comfy rooms, great staff and LOVE the pool. Convenient location to the 401. The food in the restaurant is really good and the service is great. I always look forward to staying here after a long day of travel. I will be back.

« Kids ruled the Hotel »

This experience was terrible because no adult can control the children and some adults wanted to fight if you asked them to move out of the way. This hotel is usually very good however this weekend the kids ruled the hotel.

    « Great everything!!! »

I go to this hotel every year for a hockey tournament and it is always a great experience! The beds were comfortable and the rooms were equipped with a desk and a mini fridge. I also enjoyed the restaurant as the waffles were great before hockey! The pool was also superb. Even though we didn't win the tournament per se, the trip was still a great one!

    « very disappointed »

The food was bad, the wait was too long and then my food came cold. The pool was overpopulated, couldnt get in the hot tub again overpopulated. The lifeguards were far too busy chatting to do their job. Shampoo and Conditioner didnt work in the room. The bar over the atrium was not operating which was very disappointing. This was an overall bad experience and I would have to be in a very tight spot to stay here again. I paid 184 for my room before taxes and got bad food, a noisy stay, thank goodness I brought my own shampoo and conditioner. Have stayed at Best Westerns many times and don't think I will return.

« Great Stay at Best Western PLUS Lamplighter Inn »

We (family of 5) decided to stay at this hotel overnight as part of my son's bday gift. Our son turned 4, our daughter is 2 1/2, and our youngest son is 10 months. My husband and I were very pleased with the cleanliness of the hotel, the friendly staff, and the appearance and atmosphere in general. We had a room on floor level, right near the slide to the pool. The pool is open until 10pm (I believe) and we were a little nervous that it would be very noisy and our young children wouldn't be able to sleep (they go to bed between 7 and 7:30). We were very pleasantly surprised that there is not one, but TWO heavy sliding doors separating the rooms from the pool area, and our room was completely quiet. Our children LOVED the pool and were enthralled with the koi pond next to it. We had the BEST time! We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. The location of the hotel is great as well - lots of shopping (a large mall, strip outlets, etc. and lots of places to eat all on the same street).

    5
    « Highly Recommend »

I have stayed at this Hotel twice in the last 4 months I would highly recommend this location. The pool and workout facilites are exceptional and inviting. The on-site restaurant "Shelly's" was very good the food was great and the staff friendly and courteous. The Specials offered were good value as well.

    « California Relaxation »

Once you walk into the pool area you will be amazed at all the beautiful palm trees and flowers. It is huge and such a relaxing area. Even the top roof slides open to view the stars or sky. Warm pool with great whirlpool too. Such great and friendly service with very clean rooms. Their staff work very hard to please. Thumbs up to the gardener and pool staff for such hard work. Fast service at the front desk too. U will never regret you stay @ this beautiful place.

« Come for business, stay for the waterslide »

Great hotel, with the feature attraction of the pool, waterslide and centre atrium guaranteed not to disappoint. However, if you don't like screaming, loud kids running around, be warned. We asked for a room overlooking the pool, when we booked a month in advance, but were placed as far from the pool as possible. This may have been a blessing in disguise, as the hotel probably did us a favour keeping us far from the antics of pre teen boy hockey teams and their negligent parents. The staff were nice and the lifeguards attentive at the pool. Beautiful and fun place to stay for work or leisure. We'd book it again and bring earplugs.

    3
    « Restaurant »

Hotel is fantastic but the restaurant is horrible! We went in on Saturday feb 6th with our hockey team. we waited over 2 hours for breakfast. We made a reservation and there were only 2 staff working. It took us over 1/2 hour to get luke warm water for my tea... Will never eat there again!!!

    5
    « Great mini-vacation »

This place is a perfect mini-vacation. The pool area is just perfect for kids. Rooms are clean, comfortable and well-appointed, restaurant has everything you need at a reasonable price -- hotel is great value overall. Staff is helpful and friendly, kids get a water slide, arcade, and the chance to feed giant koi all in one weekend. We'll continue our periodic visits to The Lamplighter. We've made such lovely memories there. If you haven't been, go. Great place to stay for out of towners, and great place to get away without actually having to get away if you happen to live in town.

    5
    « EXCELLENT FACILITY »

This Hotel is among the finest I have had the pleasure of stay at. The staff is very receptive and accommodating to all your needs. The facilities are second to none and the rooms are super clean, comfortable and modern. When in London it will always be BW Lamplighter.

    « Business Trip »

Stayed there Feb 13th on business trip. I booked a suite. It was small, cramped, loud and smelled badly. Definitely not worth the extra money. Pool area was awesome. Seemed like a great place for kids.

    « Family day »

Just checked in and went straight to the pool with massive water slide. Hotel is very clean and has all the amenities you want in a 4+ hotel. Only down fall we are here only 1 night. On site restaurant and free wf. Even have real palm trees in the pool area. Especially since it's -30 c outside. Feels like your in a resort down south. Enjoy we did

    5
« An Oasis like experience »

For a fun experience I recommend the "Queen suite" room, pool side. The atrium has a tropical feel with all the live plants and water falls. Staff are friendly and go out of their way to meet any extra requests (we asked for more chairs pool side). Just note that where there are pools, there will be children and the kids at the pool were having a blast. (parents were too)

    « Highly Recommend.... »

Just got back from this hotel and I cannot say enough good things about it. Great room (I had one with a Jacuzzi and fireplace), quiet, super comfortable bed, pleasant/competent staff and the Atrium is amazing!! Would stay here again in a second. I much prefer this hotel to any of the one's that I have stayed at downtown. Too bad this hotel isn't closer to the downtown core...LOL...Shelley's Restaurant is not bad either for food and drink.

Great Hotel for groups or teams, nice for families, restaurant was good and staff was excellent in the hotel, very honest housekeeping staff, turned in our laptop that we left in the safe by accident.

« Great hotel for a family trip or sports team! »

The atrium in this hotel was outstanding. Lovely pool, huge water slide, and tons of natural light. If your child's team is having a sports tournament in London, this is the hotel to stay at. Would also make a fun overnight for the family. Rooms were clean and good-sized. The restaurant had incredibly slow service. If you want something faster, you can order in pizza from a local pizza place and they will bring it right to your door.

    « Good Business Stay »

Attended a conference and spent 2 nights. Hotel was excellent all around. Nice room, good bed, lots of room. Did not use pool or restaurant. Very convenient to highways and downtown London. Easy parking and convenient stairs, elevators, vending machines. Lots of restaurants nearby and within walking distance. Didn't try hotel restaurant, but looked very nice. Would definitely stay here again for a business trip.

    5
    « Hospital trip »

The hotel and staff were excellent it helped alleviate some of the stress that we were feeling due to the nature of our trip. The pool area was like nothing we had ever seen before and we felt like we were on a mini vacation instead of a hospital trip.

« Not as warm as last time »

We called and booked our room in advance. Seeing as we are returning customers we requested a particular area of rooms we would like to be in. Upon check in we were told that none of those rooms were available. When I told the clerk that had we known we would have cancelled the reservation as we live about one hour away and would have just booked another weekend. She quickly gave us one of the rooms in the area we wanted- I thought this was a little strange, but gladly accepted. Thank you! On a side note, I would like to point out that while I was at the desk, a group of 7 people were checking in, and the other clerk would only give them 6 passes to the pool deck, pool, and water slide. The woman was of course upset, and said that when they booked the room for 7 people she should have been told then. She asked if she could purchase an additional pass, and they said no. I am only bringing this up as a warning to any larger groups, I sure would have like to have known too! Our room was just as expected, and was extremely similar to our last stay. The bathroom had a separate shower and tub, which would be fabulous for families traveling with small children! There is a mini fridge in the room, but no microwave. We found the pool area to be much, much colder than last time. We needed to have pants and sleeves to sit out on the balcony and the kids were quite cold coming and going form the pool- this was unexpected. Previously, the kids were in their swimsuits wet or dry, and we comfortably sat in shorts and tank tops.... it was like a tropical climate. We ate dinner at the restaurant on site. It was nice not having to drive anywhere, although there are plenty of restaurants very close to the hotel. The one thing I would like to advise the hotel itself of, is for the housekeeping staff to check the gardens. There were several wine glasses and pop cans thrown in the gardens by our room- who the heck does that?! You finish a glass of wine and throw the stemware over the balcony? Some people have no class I suppose. I didn't notice anything like this before and I completely think it's a guest issue much more than a hotel issue, but I would hate to see a child accidentally cut themselves. I would still recommend this hotel, but I am very curious to know when I book in March if I need to bring my parka or my flip flops?!

Good, clean hotel with friendly staff. The restaurant, Shelly's, serves good food (and drinks) by great staff. The Best Western Lamplighter Inn is where I stay when I'm in London, ON (when they're not sold out). Thank-you!

« If you are staying in London, Ontario this is the place to stay. Awesome for families. »

Indoor courtyard and pool area is well kept and supervised. Great for families with younger children. Everything is kept very clean and well decorated. We were there a week before Christmas and the decorations were beautiful. The restaurant has a wonderful breakfast. Staff are very courteous and friendly.

The Courtyard makes you think you are on a Tropical Island. The beds are luxurious and the Wi-Fi excellent. You really get value for your money. The staff is most friendly. There is ample parking. You can forget your worries and feel cared for. The rooms overlook the swimming pool so it is ideal for families as well.

    « Christmas Eve Gateaway »

Booked a room for Christmas eve for a romantic trip to London. Picked the lamplighter because of the pool section. That section for the most part lived up to the pictures on the website. Beautiful palm trees, awesome water slide, and waterfalls. When we booked the hotel originally we did so because we wanted a suite off of the atrium pool area on the second floor with a balcony. We asked when booking to have a suite with a Jacuzzi and fireplace. This was confirmed for us. When I called a week before our booking to confirm a few details, I found out that we were not to be off of the atrium, because for whatever reason they don't offer suites for that section..... which I am not sure if that is true..I feel it was screw up in the booking..I also asked when I originally booked to have early check in and late check out to be listed. When I called to confirm early check-in I was given a window from 12:30-2:30pm that may work for early check in but they couldn't promise anything... which again frustrated us. So we decided to come at 2pm, to avoid waiting around.. Our room was a suite on the third floor with a view of the parking lot.. The room itself was very nice, was a little dirty under furniture though... and some items from previous guests had been left under one of the dressers in plain sight. The bed was so comfy and the Jacuzzi was delightful, lots of towels which was nice. The staff when explaining were things were not very informative, they were almost robotic, so we had to do our own venturing through the hotel to find things. Was annoyed that alcohol was not allowed in the open bar area that overlooked the pool because you were required to purchase a drink from their bar section that wasn't open because it was the holidays.. and since we didn't get a room off the pool like we wanted we, we didn't get to sit and enjoy the atrium like we wanted... The pool itself was nice, no deep end though. The water slide was awesome, and fun for all ages. The waterfalls throughout were fantastic. Fitness center was limited though, no sauna which was kind of disappointing, and the game room could have had more games. Felt that the hotel needed more upgrades for how the website markets it. Those little details would enhance the hotel to be so much more. Overall not a bad stay.

Clean friendly location amazing pool and restaurant has amazing value. I had a suite beside the pool but I didn't hear any noise when I closed my patio doors. Meal specials at the restaurant were delicious and a good value for the price.

This is probably the best Best Western Hotel, that I have had the privilege to stay in. The place is extremely clean, the rooms are well laid out and comfortable.. The food is great. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

« Very nice property with above average room size »

A problem free stay, above average size rooms, very nice property, and a full service restaurant. Some people really like the free food bars, and complain when they have to pay for breakfast. I am getting to the point when traveling that I avoid the breakfast grazing bars. This location had a full service restaurant where we enjoyed a very tasty and peaceful breakfast. We spent three days in Ontario on our road trip and this motel was by far the best one in Ontario. If I ever would come back to the area, I would stay here.

Hotel was clean, food portions and quality were excellent for both Diner and Breakfast. Good atmosphere overall for the family, especially like the lifeguards at the pool , we could relax in our room overlooking pool with the kids swimming.

    « Outstanding customer service »

Family stayed there for one night. Enjoyed the pool and restaurant facilities. Front desk service was outstanding. We had car issues and front desk had a battery boost pack available. But more importantly they went above and beyond in finding my daughters 'blankie' that had been left behind when we checked out. The night manager looked thru the laundry in housekeeping and found it! Very much appreciated.

    « Company Christmas Party »

Attended our company Christmas party and stayed overnight too. The room was excellent (get one with the balcony) and the food, although "special event catering" and not a la carte, was excellent. I have stayed here a few times and I am never disappointed.

    « Amazing getaway! »

We just returned from a 2 night stay at the lamplighter inn. We were a group of 9 with ages ranging from 9-58. From booking to check in our experiences were fantastic. The pool was beautiful everyone enjoyed it and the ambiance was amazing, it felt like we were down south! The rooms were updated and spotless, beds were ok. We needed an extra towel when I called the front seat they brought 3 more within minutes! The gym facilities were ok. The kids loved the arcade but it could use a little updating. The front desk staff ( Brittany) were so good to deal with. We had a discrepancy with our bill and it was fixed right away with a smile! The entire hotel was so clean! I never once saw any garbage or dirt anywhere. We ate at the restaurant (Shelly's) as well and everyone was friendly and the food was great! The chef is super nice! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone that is looking for a family getaway close to home.

« Excellent and restful experience »

The hotel was extremely well kept and the room recently renovated and uptodate. I took advantage of the atrium/pool area. It was lovely and when I visited (midweek), very quiet. I also had breakfast in the hotel's restaurant. It was well-presented, hearty and of good value. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

The pool area and indoor gardens are spectacular. Christmas decorations were amazing .... a huge tree made of potted poinsettias in red and white. Bed was memory foam and super comfortable. Lovely décor in the guest room and all through the hotel. The restaurant served a delicious breakfast and the servers were attentive and friendly.

    « Birthday Party »

Today was my sons 7th birthday and we had booked a pool party at this hotel. Check-in was efficient, the room was clean and in close proximity to the pool area. The major disappointment was that my son was unable to ride the waterslide. According to the hotel's website (as well as all the literature I received), "persons using the waterslide must be 4 feet or 48 inches in height in order to ride the waterslide". Please let me clarify on behalf of the hotel. This is untrue. Riders must be OVER 4 feet tall to ride. When the on-duty lifeguard measured my sons height, his head was touching the line. I was informed that his head must be OVER the black line. The on-duty manager confirmed the same. He then offered arcade tokens or a free breakfast (we weren't staying over). I didn't want any of that - I wanted what I paid for: A birthday party for my son (who is 4 feet tall) where he can ride the slide. We wouldn't have booked this party had we known this in advance. My son was very disappointed (especially when his friends were riding and he couldn't!). The manager did drop off some arcade tokens to our room. We didn't use them. Not good enough. Beware when booking a party - all riders must be OVER 4 feet!

Met my 2 university aged daughters for a one night stay here. Room was nice, atrium was lovely and hot tub was great. We ate dinner at Crabby Joes next door and went to Coras for breakfast so can't comment on food but otherwise was just what we were looking for. This was our second stay and probably not our last. Room was quiet, wifi fast and beds comfy.

« Takes the sting out of medical visits. »

This is the second time we have stayed at the Lamplighter Inn. It was a lovely stay and we had a suite which we really liked. When I booked the room I did it on their website and took the CAA rate but when I mentioned it was for medical purposes they gave me an even better rate. That impressed me right away. Everyone was friendly and I loved the look of the pool area. I think it has been renovated since I was there last and I wished I had my swimsuit with me. It started to rain around supper time so we were glad that there was a restaurant attached to the hotel. We had a great meal and then just had to go up to our room and relax. Having such a nice place to stay the evening before a medical appointment certainly is a comfort. My son and family also went up for a next day medical appointment and they really enjoyed the pool. We will go again whenever we are in need of a hotel in the London area.

You would never know this hotel was full of hockey teams.....the layout of the hallways keeps the noise funneled away from the rooms. The pool/water slide what a treat. « An excellent getaway in London »

We stayed here for a 1 night getaway with family (no children). Both suites overlooked the indoor pool area. The rooms where great having 2 levels and a small patio area overlooking the sunken pool area. Ask for these rooms if you say here!!!!! The facilities were VERY clean and well maintained. The only low-light is the dining room. The food was very good but the dining room was understaffed and it took quite some time to get our meals.

    5
    « Great night's sleep »

This hotel had the unique ability to keep the halls quiet at night (we have been unlucky in London, we always seem to be caught in the middle of the hockey parties). It was also clean and well kept. Excellent food at the hotel restaurant too! Great pool for the kids, but above alll, a nice quiet night's sleep!!!

    « A warm & relaxing place to have a mini-vacation! »

I stayed at Lamplighter Inn last month with family during a shopping trip to London. Staff immediately made us feel welcome upon check in with their pleasant attitude. Our room was on the top floor with a balcony that opened into the pool area. The air temperature was so wonderfully warm! Room had all necessary amenities, including a coffee maker with tea and coffee packets, bathroom soaps, shampoo and conditioner, blow dryer and an empty mini fridge. The room was modern and clean, the pillows supplied were plentiful and fluffy, needless to say I slept great in their large beds. The pool area was clean and warm. The pool was a decently large size with a jacuzzi connected to it. Jacuzzi is all ages, I believe there was a minimum age of 5 years old. (TIP: jacuzzi jets are run by a timer that must be turned on every once in a while, the timer is a big button attached to the stairs just outside of the jacuzzi) The pool area also has a children's slide at the top of an lighthouse that ends in a separate area of water above the main pool. This hotel has a games room on the lower level, a beautiful sitting area with indoor plants overlooks the pool area that has a clean glass paneled roof. Overall I highly recommend this hotel for a fun family outing!

« Fantastic place to stay! Adult and kid friendly »

The hotel was booked solid with hockey teams and wedding guests but we didn't hear a peep from any of these groups. We were a little worried that the hockey kids would be a little rambunctious but didn't happen. We always book a room facing the pool and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We had an 8 year old and 1 1/2 year old with us and we all had a blast!

    « Great hotel, expensive »

Excellent hotel, but when booking, check to see if breakfast is included, and if so, see if that actually happens when you get there. Also, note in this area in the winter, children's hockey teams fill up the hotel fast and take the most cost effective rooms, leaving you with the pricey alternatives if you do not book soon enough. Some children were allowed to run free down the halls in the evening, not sure where the parents were. Also, this particular hotel seems to be a wedding venue, owing to the giant atrium and conference/banquet facilities so book early for a reasonable rate room. Also note you cannot book more than 3 rooms at a time on the website, then when you phone the 800 number, you don't get the same rate. Best Western needs to clean up their act.

« Perfect for those staying in London for medical reasons. »

Having to spend three nights in London due to a minor heart procedure taking place at University Hospital, I'm so glad our time was spent at the Lamplighter. Without touching on every last detail, I just want to let everyone know about the amazing shuttle driver, Phil. Of course being so far away from home and going through such a procedure, I found myself incredibly nervous, but on the drive over to University Hospital, Phil was cracking jokes and trying his best to get a smile on my face and get my mind off of why I was really there. He knew so much about the London area too, filling our heads with so much information in the short twenty or so minute drives we spent together. So if you're travelling to London, especially for medical reasons, make sure to stay at the Lamplighter, because even though it is a beautiful and cozy hotel with an incredible tour, Phil the shuttle driver will for sure make your stay worth while.

« Comfortable One Night Stay and Good Conference Facilities »

I had a good 1 night stay at this hotel. I was a little concerned about the age of the hotel and was hoping for a room that had been updated. The room was fine - it was clean and had everything I needed. The bed was comfortable with crisp bedding. The only thing that was a bit weird was the washroom - there was an old tub that was no longer being used for showering purposes. Rather, a walk in Amsterdam type shower was installed directly opposite the tub. This resulted in moving the sink and counter outside of the bathroom into the carpeted area directly behind the door. Now, did it mar my stay? No, but it was a bit weird - I felt a bit icky brushing my teeth and washing my face on a carpeted surface outside of the traditional bathroom setting. Other than that, the property is quite lovely, particularly the atrium area with the pool - you really feel like you are somewhere other than London, Ontario for a moment. The pool looked fun with a slide for young children. I attended a conference there and the conference facilities are great as was the service offering. I would definitely recommend the location for a company looking to host a conference or larger meeting. The front desk staff were very courteous and professional.

    « My Stay in October 28-30 »

Hubby admitted to hosp for open heart surgery. My stay was at this wonderful hotel. The staff was phenomenal. The rooms were impeccable. My kudos to the front desk staff, they understood as I stood there crying, the housekeeping staff, the restaurant there served Delicious meals. The whole staff catered to my needs when I was so worried about hubby. They have a shuttle to the hosp so I didn't have to do any driving. They took me to the hosp. and came to take me home. AND OH the atrium and pool that they have there. PHENOMENAL! Sometimes I just sat in there to marvel at the beauty of the place. It was like I was in the Caribbean or a South Sea Island. It was so peaceful there. They had an infinity pool from the atrium that drained into the pool on the lower level. They had water slides. It was the whole deal. I was very privileged to stay at such a hotel . It was like a resort we stayed at in the Caribbean a few years ago. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that is traveling to London. I can only say how great they were at accommodating my needs. Check out time is 11.00am but when the Dr. hadn't come in to see hubby yet. I phoned down to the front desk and they even extended my checkout time as I needed. Great Hotel and Great People that work there. Thanks for the GREAT Experience!!!

« Great stay in London »

We just moved away from London a few months ago, but came back for a week to visit friends and family. We chose the Lamplighter because we know it's good, and it's so close to our old home. The service was very good, rooms quite spacious and the beds are very comfortable. Room service was great... toast would arrive a little soggy from the covers, but that's really not something they can change, so it's a non issue. Everything was as advertised, and we certainly had no issues. We were situated close to an outside door, which for a weeks stay, was very conveneient. We will definetly stay there next time we're in town.

My son and I were booked at this hotel so he could attend some appointments at the hospital. I was very pleased when we arrived with the size of the hotel. It has a beautiful pool and waterslide and whole property is clean and spacious. It would be fun to book a poolside room for February. With the greenhouse roof, it would feel like a vacation down south. The restaurant is quick, well priced and friendly with lots of kid friendly foods available. This would be a great hotel for sports teams.

The Lamplighter was a great place to be able to spend valuable time with our grandchildren. The rooms, the pool area (with slide) and the staff were fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed the Lamplighter. Shelly`s Restaurant served up a good breakfast at reasonable prices. Some of the rooms had sitting areas outside the patio doors overlooking the indoor pool and ponds. Beautiful tropical landscaping all around the pool area made it even more relaxing and enjoyable.

« Tropical Oasis in London Ontario »

My family loves the Lamplighter Inn. It is excellent value as you have the huge atrium area to relax in. I have been here two times and stayed in the same room (coincidentally) which has a walkout to the brick patio and is one level above the pool deck. This is the same level as the pool slide entrance and gazebo bar. The room had a Queen bed, fridge, safe, closet, washroom and sink area on one level and then two steps down to sofa bed, desk, tub chair and TV. Plenty of room for family of four. On the patio you have two metal chairs and a small table where you can relax while the kids play in the pool. There are no food or drink on the pool deck level. During our recent 18 hour stay the kids bounced around the pool/hot tub/slide for 8 hours!! (Ask for a late check out). The pool is supervised at all times by a minimum of one lifeguard and usually two. The kids had begged to come back after a two-night sports team stay two years ago. On that visit, the kids spent a lot of time in the on-site arcade. There is an on-site restaurant which had reasonably good food for average prices; about $10 each for breakfast. Very convenient. The facility has many large meeting rooms and is heavily booked with weddings and sports teams. In addition to the pool area, the atrium includes a large gazebo and open seating area which can be reserved for gatherings. You can have a beautiful wedding ceremony and catered reception here (but they do close the pool for this so call ahead to check it will be open). I have also seen sports teams use this area for pizza parties (book in advance). The hotel is exceedingly clean and in excellent repair. It is very popular so you have to book ahead many weeks or months especially for groups.

« Beautiful pool area - rooms leave a little to be desired »

The pool area is fabulous, it was the reason why we booked this hotel in the first place, as we were hoping to use it. (Just didn't have any time to partake). However the rooms leave something to be desired. No better than other hotels and not nearly as nice as the online pictures. A little dated. The 2 person jacuzzi tubs are not spacious, really more of a 1 person jacuzzi tub. Felt it was a little too expensive for what you get. You are definitely paying for the pool area.

    « love this hotel!! »

Love this hotel! Our favourite place to stay when we come to london, which is yearly. Never been disappointed! Beds are comfortable, shower is awesome, rooms are spacious...only the refrigerator was a bit of a problem as it tended to freeze things and had no temp. adjuster.

« Mini resort in the heart of the city »

Hotel was very well maintained, rooms were clean and comfortable and the in house restaurant had a great menu and dinner was excellent. It's like going to a mini resort. We love going there, especially in the winter. Love their pool, especially for the kids. Lots of things to do for fun. The Atrium rooms overlook the pool, but not to worry ... the pool closes at 10, so you'll get a good night's sleep.

« A Great Hotel in London, Ontario »

I booked direct through the hotel desk before traveling as I can request a quiet room and ask questions directly rather than through a national call center. The manager took care of my reservation in a friendly, helpful manner. I requested a military discount (both my wife and I are retired military) and received it. Thank you, Lamplighter Inn. As I asked about the room at check-in, the young lady said she was upgrading our room to a King suite at no additional cost as it is the quietest room in the hotel. (side note: as some others have mentioned, the rooms with a balcony overlooking the pool can be somewhat noisy. The King Suite is on the other side of the building) The parking lot is spacious and wraps around the entire complex. Looks like plenty of room if you are driving a motor home or trailering an RV. Within an hour of settling in the spacious two-room suite, a friendly housekeeping attendant knocked on the door and asked if we needed anything (extra towels, water bottle, etc.). This rarely happens when we travel and might be the first time. The suite has a living room with desk, phone and free Wi-Fi. I believe I saw an Ethernet connection also. A good sized HDTV is on the wall facing a 3-seat sofa and coffee table. Very comfortable area to do some work, catch up on emails and/or watch TV. The bathroom sink is in a separate room directly across from the bathroom. A small coffee maker is on the sink vanity with a good number of regular and decaf coffees. In the bathroom you have a choice of walk-in shower or standard tub. Everything looked sparkling and new. In fact, the entire complex appears to be new. The bedroom was large with another HDTV easily watched from the bed. We don't have any young children, but took a walk to the pool area. Very impressive, with a waterfall, large pool and a very large water-slide for the kids. All enclosed under a massive dome. I didn't take any pictures as they would not have done justice to this wonderful hotel. I suggest you take the time to look at the many images on the web site. The location is on Wellington Road, extremely easy to go into downtown London and also to Route 401. We went to a great pub called The Church Key, about ten minutes north of the hotel. Separate review for that later. Every single person on staff was friendly, welcoming and professional. I wish we could have stayed another couple of nights! Put this at the top of your list if visiting London or just staying overnight while traveling across Ontario. You will not be disappointed. The value for this hotel is superb. If you are a U.S. citizen, the exchange rate in favor of the dollar was ~ 30%.

This is now my favourite hotel in London, I really like the Atrium rooms where you get a little place to sit and enjoy some reading, the staff are awesome and always accommodating, a truly pleasant hotel that is priced right for business travellers I would recommend it highly to anyone wanting a clean and comfortable place to stay

« So much fun!! Great hotel for families »

We stayed here for my sons baseball tournament (a team of 8 year olds) and it was a great choice! As the manager of our team I chose the lamp lighter and it did not disappoint. The service was very good and the rooms were quite spacious and very clean. The biggest perk was the indoor water park, the boys and their siblings went nuts!!! It was beautiful and awesome! They put our team in a block of rooms together. I would highly recommend this resort for teams staying in the London area!

    « Family Fun »

We were in London for a quick overnight stay for a family function and stayed here. It was very clean and comfortable. The highlight for the kids (and me) was the pool and water slide! Would stay again and recommend to others.

« Love the pool and water slide »

Always enjoy this hotel when bringing the children. The pool is a lot of fun and water slide is a favourite. Rooms clean and practical. Relatively quiet. Free wifi. Free parking. Front desk reception always excellent. Restaurant on site is handy.

    « A joy to visit »

We find the room to be extremely comfortable. The beds are luxurious and the amenities are plentiful. We especially enjoy the atrium area and beauty of the waterfall and palm tree vegetation. We live in London, but stay here to give ourselves a treat from time to time. We are never disappointed!

    « horrible Room »

the room smelled like smoke, it was the king room with a get tub. the bed was not comfy. the breakfast is not very good and way over priced. the restaurant has VERY slow service and the food is not worth the wait, The hot tub when we where there was closed for to much chlorine, the water slide is fun but also SUPER high on chlorine. And the bathrobe is not nice and they only give you one!
