Best Western Le Relais de Laguiole Hotel & Spa

Despite initial impressions - and this is going to date me as it looks a bit like Crossroads Motel - this hotel turned out to be a bit of a gem. The rooms are a little tired but clean and perfectly adequate however the pleasant surprise of our night's stay was the dinner which proved to be quite delicious. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. (A trip to the Laguiole knife factory (10 minute walk) is well worthwhile though can end up being expensive! If you don't fancy a walk there is a well-stocked shop directly opposite the hotel.)

The room are not the most beautiful one. Looks a bit worn-out. But... Very good service at the reception, very good service at the restaurant. Smiling people, trying to help and happy to serve you. Yes, I can recommend this place. You will certainly have a nice stay.

Stayed here for 5 nights as the main hotel if our coach holiday. The way we were greeted by the manager I knew this was going to be a great stay. The staff were all very good and always helpfu. Rooms were good though our room did not have a fridge it did not cause us any problems. The self service breakfast was excellent, and evening meals were just as good. All the desserts were home made and absolutely faultless. The swimming pool and Jacuzzi again were excellent. Our overall experience of the Hotel was nothing short of first class. Given the opportunity I would certainly go again.

We stayed one night here, and were made very welcome by the all-female staff. The room was well-appointed and comfortable, and the in-hotel restaurant served an enjoyable dinner. Fine large swimming pool at the disposal of the guests, and there's also a sauna that can be rented by the half-hour - we didn't try it, but it looked good.

I had a brief one night stay here in June 2017 while visiting the famous restaurant Michel Bras. The Best Western is in the middle of the village and had a good sized room (106) with a particularly large bathroom with an excellent shower. There were plenty of spare electrical sockets for recharging things, which can often be an issue in European hotels. The lady at reception spoke good English and was friendly, and the bed was comfortable. Of course this is not a luxury hotel, but it does exactly what you might hope for given the price. Be aware that after about 11 p.m. the front door is locked, and you need an entry code to get back in, which is conveniently printed on the back of your room key.

We booked, and fully paid, two rooms at this hotel more than three months ago through the European website booking.com. The day before our arrival we received a message telling us that our reservation had been canceled and that no rooms were available for us at the hotel we had chosen. We immediately called both the hotel and booking.com. They both rejected the error on eachother. The hotel receptionist, who was quite rude, told us that the problem was with booking.com and that we should call them directly next time, that their hotel was fully booked and that there was nothing they could do for us.... After calling booking.com more that three times, they finally agree to book us in another, smaller hotel, but could not apply the payment we made to them three month earlier. So we did go to that place and fully pay for our rooms. Booking.com is supposed to reimburse soon the payment made more than three months ago. Terrible experience. We really did not feel welcome by either booking.com or this hotel.

On our way to view the Tour de France, one night stop over. Room 204 very spacious! Service above and beyond from the Boss and her team, she has a MBA and fell in love with hotel business and one can see that! Do not miss the restaurant they actually reopened the kitchen for us... Fabulous red meat from the Aubrac! with morells! Breakfast served with Daumann tea!!

My wife and I were part of a 33 strong coach party from the UK; having travelled for 2 days, we arrived to be warmly greeted by Celine. Upon reaching our room, we were surprised and delighted to see that we had been given a family room; a double and single bed, plus a sofa bed, well appointed bathroom and plenty of space in the bedroom to sit and relax. As a party we were out all day each day but back early enough once to enjoy the swimming pool. Didn't see any towels provided though. Evening dinner was excellent on all 5 nights with alternatives being available if required. Some good entertainment from a duo and a local dance group too. Celine and Geraldine and all staff are to be commended for their friendliness and efficiency. Very well recommended.

With 17 Bentleys and 34 people from the Bentley Drivers club we stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The manager Celine and her assistant couldn't have been more helpful; literally, nothing was too much trouble. When originally planning the tour we had only intended to stay one night, but the manager suggested several things that we could do and went out of her way to help us organise visits to interesting places. We had one participant who needed to have a blood test and the manager organised it for us and even took him to the appointment in her own car. Rooms were quite reasonable and the menu items we chose were very good. I would thoroughly recommend the hotel!

Just can't say enough about our wonderful experience at this BW hotel. Our room was comfortable, bed cosy, staff friendly and helpful and the hotel's restaurant offered both delicious dinners and breakfasts. A great place to call home while checking out the surrounding area. It is just fabulous.

Stayed as part of a large group for 6 days. Service was excellent from the very friendly staff, some of whom spoke perfect English. Any requests were dealt with immediately & nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were comfortable (request a balcony) and the food was good, although some of the local dishes were "interesting"! If you have any special dietary requirements then inform the hotel prior to your stay AND remind them again when you arrive! The covered swimming pool & jacuzzi, and the outdoor sun terrace were used by a number of us each day however the route to it is a bit torturous since it's accessed via the 1st floor (don't forget to take your towels). On one evening after dinner we were entertained to an hour of folk dancing by a local troupe; this unexpected event was very well received by the hotel guests. A new well-stocked supermarket with 24 hour petrol station is 200 yards down the hill from the back of the hotel and there is another 24 hour petrol station opposite the hotel (both petrol stations are often unmanned & require a credit/debit card). The town square with its bronze bull statue is a short walk from the hotel and has a few typical French café-type restaurants plus many cutlery shops selling "Laguiole" knives. The cutlery museum & workshop is a 10 minute walk up the hill opposite the hotel entrance and is worth a visit. There's a good view of the surrounding countryside from in front of the church which stands on a hill overlooking the town centre however the last 200 yards are very steep; there is a car park & picnic area. We will certainly be returning to this hotel.
