The only thing that was good about my stay was the staff. They allowed me to check in 30 minutes early. They were extremely polite and courteous. I got into my room and had to immediately leave because I was meeting my daughter and grandchildren for dinner. I noticed the smell of mildew and cigarette smoke right away. I figured because of my time crunch I would just buy some Febreze and a fan. I went to turn the AC down and the front of the unit was falling off, and the top was dirty. I then noticed the comforter had hair on it and so I pulled it partly back and saw it had stains on the underside. Again, I was in a hurry and so I decided I would just pick up a blanket as well. I didn't return until late that evening and that's when I turned all of the lights on and saw that the room was dirty, disgusting I will never stay at a Best Western again. I have photos of the dirty and stained floor, but when I pulled the comforter off the rest of the way that's when I noticed that the heavier sheet that goes between the comforter and sheet was pushed down to the end of the bed under the comforter. This told me that the sheets were never changed. If they had that would have been replaced, but it was balled up at the foot, under the comforter. I ended up sleeping on the chair with my blankets. As I stated earlier, I will never stay at a Best Western again. I should have known when I saw that reservations were non refundable. Not one single room selection was refundable. Corporate needs to send a representative to this location and investigate it. I leaned my lesson. I wish I wasn't in a hurry or I would have addressed the issues. There will be no next visit. I used to previously stay at Holliday INN but their prices have gotten too steep for only spending a few hours to sleep so I created a holiday in rewards account. This was literally my first stay in a Best Western in years. I can't express how much that this is also the last.
Great place to stay, great price. No complaints whatsoever. I did not use breakfast, so I have no comment on that. Price was $85, which I thought was a bargain for the condition of the room. Everything clean, no problems. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Not sure how this motel got any 5-star ratings. My first room was on the first floor. I walked in and was immediately overcome by a moldy dank smell and nasty carpet. I asked for another room after the desk clerk told me the first floor rooms tend to smell like that after a day of rain and that other businesses in the area are essentially flooded each time a big rain comes through. Red flag. Got a second floor room that at least didn't smell of mold but was heavily sprayed with some perfumey air freshener. Red flag. I just needed a bed for the night, but I'll never stay here again. Horribly soiled carpet, damaged lamp shades, poorly cleaned bathroom. The blow drier was held together with duct tape (really??!!) Lucky for me I got a side room so I slept with the window open. Skip this Worst Western motel. You'd be better off camping along the side of the road.
We stayed at this hotel whe we were in Emporia an I prevuiously left a not so good review about the Sunday morning breakfast. However, since then I have been contacted by the management there and was filled in on the unfortunate lack of employees that morning and they offered to make this right. I have tried to delete my previous review so I hope it is gone. We will go back there.
I have stayed in multiple hotels in Emporia, and this is the one I will be returning to. There are hotels that MIGHT be a smidge "nicer" or newer (like the Holiday Inn Express) but for the additional price there is no added value. This hotel is quiet, clean, and staffed with lovely and kind humans. What more can you ask for?
We have stayed here before, as it is one day's travel from our home. It is clean, the staff are friendly, and the breakfast was good.it is right behind Walmart, so it is easy to pick up forgotten items, and there are a number of restaurants within walking distance.
As I travel finding a healthy place to stay is very challenging. Best Western Emporia Inn was a haven. The staff was on point. Rooms were clean. Free of air fresheners and perfume laced laundry soap that permeates towels and bedding.
I'm feeling crabby from all the gouging companies are doing lately. We tried to stay at La Quinta but they had no trailer parking (and they now charge $25 for dogs). So Best Western it was. We have a 20 pound, non shedding, well trained dog. In addition to the $25 dog charge, the room we had to take was $10 more than the cheapest room. $35 more so she could sleep in the room for 8 hours! And it was obviously a dog room. Our pup found some food on the floor and the carpet fascinated her. Otherwise, the place is older and has some smells, but parking and breakfast are good.
Great location. Comfortable beds. Good breakfast with all the options. Shower had good water pressure. Very clean. Friendly and helpful staff. We have stayed here several times. Would recommend this hotel.
Excellent hotel. Super clean room. Comfortable beds and pillows. This hotel is pet friendly. NOTE: there are designated pet friendly rooms, which is a great thing for people with allergies. I highly recommend this hotel.
Booked solely for the Jacuzzi Suite. When we got to our room the Jacuzzi was not working, the floor surrounding the tub was VERY soft, and the room was very humid. When we complained to the front desk about the tub not working they said they knew it did not work and we should have been told at check in. We were never informed at check in. Even after explaining that that was the only reason we booked that hotel we were not offered a solution. No change of room, no discount, nothing. Super annoying.
Jocelyn at front desk was very Professional, Friendly & Helpful. She made us feel right at home. Our room was clean, quite & cool. Very comfortable! Breakfast was delicious! Jocelyn Conklin is a wonderful asset to Best Western!
Comfortable hotel, nice indoor heated pool, decent breakfast included in price. Close enough to town where they have a great bbq restaurant. We did not use the fitness center or other amenities at this hotel other than the free parking and wifi.
The staff was very helpful and accommodating to our needs. Would recommend to fellow travelers and friends to stay at this location. The breakfast was amazing and the staff was very helpful with setting it out for us early if needed.
We had a great stay- though we didn't have enough time to use the pool, that is one of the main reasons we booked this location. It was clean and the staff was very friendly and the bed was very comfortable. It sits back behind Wal-Mart so at first, it's a little tricky to find the right street. Our window looked over a nice little pond- which was nice to look at first thing in the morning!
Toilet is falling apart. There was trim and some random mirror or construction part left is our room. The jets were not working in our room, and supposedly we got a lower rate, but it didn't appear to be in our charges. Their WIFI was not working at all, they said no password was needed. Which was weird to us. Their extra door was not locked all all times, which was a bit worrisome to us. Lastly, their TV's have all these channels and options and although we tried it many times it did not work. We have stayed at other hotels and they do work. The reception lady that checked us in was not too friendly. I'm used to having very friendly staff welcoming me to their hotels. Their breakfast was good though, many options to select from. We loved a lady that was in helping in the breakfast area, she was older in age; she was very friendly and even helped us how to use the waffle machine. Their fitness center does have a bit of variety and even dumbells.
This was the best experience we have ever had with a hotel. The hotel is clean & the staff is friendly & helpful. The breakfast was the best breakfast we have had at a hotel. The quality & variety of the items was excellent. We would definitely recommend to anyone.
Very nice place to stay. This will definitely be the place we stay while traveling through. The employees are very kind and helpful. The breakfast had good options to choose from. The rooms are very clean and spacious. Looking forward to our next visit there.
Very clean hotel. Staff was very professional and efficient during check in with no problems. A/C in the rooms worked great and clen bathrooms with excellent (nice smelling) soaps for showers. Also very quiet area.
Quiet, safe room with friendly, welcoming staff. Ample parking for our large RV. Nice variety at breakfast, including make your own waffles (in a variety of flavors)!! Will definitely stay again if in the area.
Friendly staff and delicious selection of food. Honestly has the same spread as Holiday inn minus the omelets and bacon/sausage but for half the cost. The massage chair in the room was an amazing touch too after a long drive. Very clean. Pictures and description are 100% accurate for this hotel.
My room had a strong smell to it. There was two dirty wash clothes hanging on the shower door, and the shower was not very clean. It took a very long time to get the shower water hit, once it was hot it was fine.
This was an unplanned stop. We used the BW App to find this hotel. In the future we may be going on trips to this same location; and we will stop here again when we do. Staff made the stay excellent. The cost was excellent. Once the renovations are finished, this will be a great place for use to stay.
We stayed at the Best Western Emporia Inn on a move across country January 8, 2022. We asked to stow three heavy boxes behind the front desk since the elevator was out of service. In the morning my husband set down his backpack behind the front desk while he loaded the three boxes onto the luggage cart. When we arrived at our next hotel in Indianapolis he realized he had left his backpack at the front desk in Emporia. He immediately called them since his passport, his laptop and traveling cash was in the backpack. They told him they never saw it, we were never referred to the manager, she never made an effort to reach us. We have filed a police report as we are fairly sure that there was limited access to behind the front desk, someone had to have seen the backpack and their lack of concern seems very odd to us. Our next step is for the police to pull the security videos since the Best Western doesn't seem interested in finding the thief.
The front desk clerk was very polite and enthusiastic when we arrived around 8pm. She made a long day of winter travel seem much less draining! We had issues with the TV, but she talked us through how to fix it over the phone. The room was decent. Very good breakfast with many selections.
Will avoid in the future, pet room - holes in lamp shades AND MANY stains on the carpet. Room needed airing out. AND, FOR THIS YOU PAY FULL PRICE AND A PET FEE. Nice shower and bed comfortable. Poor security, outside door did not require card to enter. Disappointed.
Was very disappointed. I arrived very late to hopefully get a room. While I understand a 2 am check in is unusual, i was unable to page any staff. After letting their locator ring dor 10 minutes, I decided that they really didn't want my business. My last visit, while in a normal time frame check in was wonderful which made this visit that much more disappointing
Smelled like a moldy basement. It has been 2 days and I am still ill from it. Tv remote didn't work and we were told that it just didn't work and to change the channels on the cable box. It was so humid in the room (more than outside) that everything felt sticky so it was hard to tell if it was clean. The floor had obviously been “repaired” with a layer of plywood or something under the carpet and was awful to walk on.
I booked this hotel because of the strong reviews on TripAdvisor. I was very disappointed. The hotel is in need of updating. The king bed was great and the shower looked new but the toilet did not and the carpeting in the room is old, stained and moldy. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The lady booking by reservation over the phone (an older woman) was a bit off-putting about prices for the room. Honestly, I wished I had researched the ages of the hotels. I would have considered going to a Super 8 instead and saved myself some money. I felt the room was overpriced even with a rewards member rate. Very disappointing.
The room was nice and spacious. There was no luggage rack to put a suitcase on. When I got there the light over the sink had burned out so I had to have someone come fix it. The water in the shower takes forever in the morning. In fact I had to forgo my shower because after 10 minutes of running the water it still wasn't hot. I told the woman at the desk and she said “ we have old water heaters and they don't come on until the first person turns on the water in the morning”. So I guess if you're an early riser you're out of luck for a hot shower.
Matress was completely shot. Room was infested with ants. only half of jets worked in tub.side door to motel looked like it had been kicked in. Bed made loud noise every time you moved. Matress leaned to one side and you had to hold on to keep from falling off. Definitely not up to normal best western standards ass we stay in a lot of them.
If you want to attend a covid convention, this is your spot! No masks worn by staff. They scoffed at me when I asked about their covid protocol. Also the room stunk so bad that I had to get room freshener from the front desk. Right off the bat I found a big black bug. I hope it wasn't a roach but my hubby smashed it to smithereens so we couldn't tell. The carpet was bumpy. We didn't dare go into the breakfast room as it was small, crowded, no social distancing and not 1 mask. We should have never stayed there but it was late and we were exhausted. Stayed at a Hilton the next night for$10 more and it was fabulous.
The hotel is OK and the breakfast is good. When I checked the clerk had me sign a piece of paper with rate of $48. When I got the bill the next day is was a $100. I asked the day manager which is the correct rate and she showed me th piece of paper I had signed the night before. The night manager had crossed out the $48 rate and wrote $100. T he manger apologized and I paid the higher rate. When I checked all of the hotels in the area, Comfort Inn had the highest rate. How come??
They did a great job for us We used the breakfast room for our family get together and had a great time. They went way above to make our stay enjoyable. They would not let us clean up after our use of the facility
The staff are always top notch , Jocelyn is a great General Manager , and Tiyanna always friendly and accommodating . A nice facility and location for getting around Emporia and connecting highways . I highly recommend this hotel .
This hotel was in a good location and met our travel needs. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was advertised as continental, but real scrambled eggs and bacon. I will stay here again when we travel throught Emporia again.
We stayed at Emporia instead of Kansas City to break up our drive. Great decision. Nice property. Our grandkids loved the indoor pool. Staff very friendly, especially Dee, the breakfast hostess. She went above and beyond to make sure everyone was taken care of.
