We were in route to Texas towing an RV involved in hit and run has to stay for repairs. Staff were amazing, felt like home. Amazing job and rooms. Met great people while we waited. Thank you 🙌🏼 We appreciate the hospitality, friendliness of all staff and guests. Breakfast was amazing. Would stay there again!!
We had a great stay at Best Western Saluki Inn. Clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed the bar Manny's attached to the hotel. The bartender Reggie( hope I spelled correctly) was great!!! We met Jay (manager) who was very friendly and hospitable. We will stay again.
This Best Western is way below the standards for a Best Western. It was generally clean but the hallway carpeting wasn't. The internet mostly did not work, and when it did it was very slow. The pool area was very clean, but the water was very chilly, even for vigorous lap swimming, and pool towels were in short supply.
Clean rooms, excellent breakfast. Friendly staff everything was wonderful. Will stay again in the near future. Convenient location to campus, restaurants and many ourdoor activites in the southern Illinios and Carbondale area. Great location.
The bed was amazing & room all was very clean. Breakfast was also very good. The air conditioner unit at the end of the hall on 2nd floor had its cover off & propped against a wall. In addition, the elevator stopped working. All else was fantastic. I was not given a receipt for my $50 deposit drafted from my credit card. I'm still waiting for it to process back on my card.
Customer service was exceptional. Also, I was really surprised and elated that the pillows were sooooo comfortable. This was my 2nd visit in 2 years and this time was better than the last visit. The pool area was very nice and bright, the staff was helpful and welcoming.
OK place, quiet and comfortable bed in a clean room. Nice shower. Outlets for electronic devices on lamps were very loose and I worried about the plug for the laptop coming out. Couldn't use my USB charging adapter in those outlets, not enough clearance with the table/desk. Breakfast was ok but coffee was weak and I threw out 1/2 a cup. Sort of odd smell in the halls...but clean.
Rooms are clean and spacious. Minor room imperfect's but nothing major. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Pet friendly. Breakfast was good. There were hot and cold items. This hotel is very family friendly. Overall one of the best hotels to stay at in Carbondale.
Overnight stay with my son for an SIU visit. We were only in the room for about 9 hours, but all was good. The hooks in the bathroom were broken, so there was nowhere to hang towels, but we weren't there long enough for that to matter. It was clean enough. Staff were very polite. Breakfast was the usual free breakfast. The fitness center is open 24 hours and looked nice. The pool was closed. The location was very convenient- right off of the main road and 5 minutes from the SIU campus.
Disappointed the clerk could not process my tax exemption card on check in or check out. Otherwise a pleasant stay although the elevator were out on check out which did not make my wife who is handicapped happy . Nothing more to add to the list.
I had a great stay at this hotel. Staff were friendly and the room was clean! The breakfast also had fresh options which was an added plus. The location was also nearby grocery stores and shopping outlets so it was convenient enough. Would recommend for someone travelling through the city
Clean hotel in general. Everything was pretty clean: lounge, hallway, carpet, room, sheets, etc. Decent amenities in the room: coffee machine, hair dryer, TV, mini fridge and microwave (definite a plus for family travelers), The towels were a little worn - on the thin side. Hair shampoo and conditioner were kind of cheap brand. Breakfast was free and very decent - a plus. Front desk employees were easy to work with and very efficient.
Best hotel in the area! Everything exceeded my expectations, from price, cleanliness, comfort, staff, breakfast. And pet friendly! I honestly don't leave many reviews unless excellent or terrible…excellent here. I've stayed at a couple other places not too far away and by far the best.
Didn't look like the pictures. Smelled like weed, damp, and dirty. Homeless inside lobby and outside. No parking. Alarm went off and when I asked what it was, the lady ignored me. Very loud drunk guests too.
Great property with extremely friendly staff. Good restaurants within walking distance. The room and public areas were spotless. Nice amenities with updated rooms. The breakfast area is spacious, with fresh food that was given constant attention.
I was very impressed with the hotel. All the furniture seemed brand new, everything was super clean, the TV was huge, and the continental breakfast was eggs, bacon, waffles, danishes, toast, juice and coffee and it was all delicious. Really one of the nicest hotels I've been in.
Everything was very nice. I highly recommend staying here. The staff is so kind, breakfast was excellent. The rooms very nice and comfortable and clean. I have nothing negative to say about this Best Western. I will definitely stay here when in the area.
The bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. Since Covid, I wipe down my room, eg. remote, desk, sink, toliet seat, etc. The cloth was clean!!! We had driven through a thunderstorm to get to Carbondale. After arriving, the siren went off for a tornado watch. The receptionist let us know what to do in case the tornado touch down. My husband stayed downstairs until the coast was clear. It was good to have some calming at the end of the night.
It's a very clean hotel that is in a great location with lots of restaurants and stores around. I also liked that it has a bar attached to the lobby for easy, safe convenience if you want to unwind without worrying about driving. The beds and pillows were very comfortable too, slept very well.
Bed and pillows were uncomfortable. No noise control. Our room seemed to be below some kind of equipment that ran at different times. Only one bar of soap that we had to move from the sink to the shower and back. Bathroom didn't have a fan. Other guests leaving the attached bar were super loud.
No pool no restaurant that didn't seem to bother staff . said the pool was out of their hands that it was filthy and the pool area stunk. Advertised a restaurant that they did not have the bar was very uncomfortable with bartender friends, couldn't even order a drink.broken chairs in our rooms outlet in lobby sparking,
Room was clean, morning coffee was excellent, breakfast had my favorite waffle machine. The only thing I found wrong with the room was the condition of the lamps in my room (all 3 were broken in some fashion but still worked fine). Multiple places to eat dinner within walking distance. All in all, a decent and reasonably priced hotel.
Staff at the front desk was wonderful. Breakfast was hot and restocked often. Need to clean shower heads and faucets - gross build up and impacts water pressure. Parking lot had a lot of trash - but could have been a factor of storms that rolled through.
The service is excellent and the treatment is wonderful. Everything is clean. I loved the site. It is excellent. I will send the site to my friends. It is really wonderful. I thank everyone for the good treatment and I will repeat the hotel in the future
This hotel has renewed my hope in hotels, as a whole. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. The room was well clean and neatly appointed. Breakfast was tasty. Very glad that I chose to stay at this Best Western. I would gladly stay there again.
The motel room was very below standard. Besides the fact that the pictures on their website look completely different than the motel itself, the pictures are staged what a disappointment. We had bugs in our room crawling on the floor, then on the closet door. The bathtub had rust spot on the inside of the tub, besides the fact that the faucet continually leaked. The furniture was old, and the office desk chair was dangerous to sit in because it was ready to fall over and had stains on the chair. The bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable, making it difficult to sleep. The room had a terrible smell. We were so disappointed in the quality of the motel and will certainly not be staying there anymore. So very disappointed!
Convenient location, easy to get to SIU and other spots (eg restaurants). Great price; could bring extended family. Staff excellent and genuinely friendly. Breakfast and coffee great, lots of options and tasty. Made trip to see our daughter that much better.
Smelled of paint and dead mouse. Paid for a 2 room suite. Did not get that. Was put in a room first that had paint materials everywhere. Instead of front desk believing me she called the owner to see. Never again! We checked out a day early because it was so bad.
Window was extremely drafty and I could hear everything outside. Towels were dirty with sticky stuff on them. Pool was out of order and I was not relayed that when I called and asked. Would not recommend this hotel.
Booked with this hotel for my son's wrestling tournament down the road on January 5th. I made a mistake with Priceline regarding booking dates, and the manager and staff went out of their way to help me correct my mistake. I cannot overstate the how incredibly nice, respectful and helpful the manager and staff were. I highly recommend this property if staying in the Carbondale area. Thanks again!
We stayed here several times while our son was in college. We would recommend this hotel as one of the better ones in town. It's clean, quiet and has a pretty good breakfast. It's close to the college.
Have stayed here before. It was a game and holiday weekend so prices were as high as a 5 star hotel. Upon entering, the room was freezing. Turned down thermostat with no problem but noticed the room felt extremely damp. Everything was holding moisture which made the floors shiny and damp, and beds same. Towels are like sandpaper. We also noticed mold on wall. Listened to a domestic situation for hours with no one addressing (on main floor, a few doors down from main desk). No we did not report because it was obvious as the screaming led to the hallway, and am sure everyone heard. We then heard 3 car alarms going off throughout the night, so did not get much sleep and left us with an unsafe feeling. Thankfully my car was okay when I went out in morning. I was too fearful to go out at 2 am. Breakfast was fine for what you'd expect.
The room is always nice and clean. Pool is wonderful. The kids always enjoy it ALL day . The breakfast has a nice selection. Close to family in town and many places to eat and shop. My mom enjoys Gambling at Mannys next door. Also.
If you are budget minded and just need a place to sleep, this is perfect for you. My daughter and I needed a place to stay while in town visiting college and this Best Western is super close to SIU. It's not a new hotel by any means, but it's fairly clean and has a decent breakfast while being BY FAR the cheapest price for our budget.
Clean spacious room w mini fridge and microwave, quick and easy check in, great breakfast, friendly service and great rate. Appears 1st floor is being renovated so looking forward to checking it out next time I'm in town…thank your for a great experience!!
I enjoyed my stay. I was in town for a conference at SIU Carbondale, and the hotel was very conveniently close to campus. The lady who was in charge of breakfast was very kind and hospitable. Overall, it was a great experience.
The room cooled quickly, and the front desk staff weee friendly and prompt. The breakfast was yummy, and Tae was a fantastic host, going above and beyond to make sure we had what we needed. Aside from a few cosmetic flaws, the room was comfy and we would choose to stay there again.
I was very pleased with my visit. The front desk crew gave very clear amd precise instructions. Her communication skills were superb!!! I liked the info about breakfast which made me loon forward to getting up for breakfast. The hotel lobby smelled great all day which is always a pleasure.
First, love the option of a 3-queen room. It even had a pull out sofa, so plenty of room for a family of 4-5 to sleep. Room could have been cleaner, not terrible, but dust and other things made me think it wasn't that clean. Breakfast was meh! Coffee was meh! Location is good and the value of what I paid seemed to be in line with the quality of the property. Also the staff at check-in seem to struggle with a simple check-in transaction which seemed strange.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and the pool was fun. It was super close to everything we wanted to do (state park, restaurants, etc.). Our only issue was that there was a bright light out in the parking lot that shone through the window and made sleeping a little tricky.
A series of terrible unfortunate events. I was put on the first floor and my curtains didn't even fully cover the window. I was worried about someone looking in. The curtains were FILTHY and had spots all over them. The walls were worn down and stained. People were walking up and down the hall blasting music on their phones. The last straw was when I was sitting in the bed and a BED BUG crawled on top of the covers over me! I spent less than two hours in that hotel and regret every minute of it. -5/10 do not recommend
The owner went way out of the way to make us a meal when we arrived late in the eve, right before closing time, after a softball game. Rooms were clean, breakfast was great. Would stay here again for sure.
Have been staying at this hotel for 5 years visiting my son. Always great service and great breakfast in the am. Your close to the college and stores. The mall is sad but they have strip malls and large grocery store and kohl's next door
I would never go to a Best Western hotel ever again. After finding out there is no sink in the bathroom, I had to go across from the bathroom to clean up at that sink.I do not feel that's privacy. And having privacy is important to me.
The service was terrible, we arrived late in the evening and the front door was closed and there was a sign saying use the pool door, there was no direction where the pool door would be, we had to find a random open door took the stairs to the first floor then confused about where the lobby would be, then found a spooky looking elevator took it down and then found the lobby that was under construction, no one at the place which look like a counter, then a very inept person showed up, and told us that backdoor is the entry, where is the backdoor no one knows, of course communication is a big issue here with language and stuff, and then we enter the room the furnitures have worned out and the room smelled musty, this place is so out of whack that I wonder why there is no regulation that let this kind health hazards to stay open and operate and put peoples lives at risk.
The room was relatively clean and neat. Noisy people were above us and not much was done after we complained so it was a bit of a restless night. It may have been a one-off, but I don't think I'd recommend staying here.
Great location, clean rooms and excellent breakfast. What more do you need. The breakfast included bacon, biscuits and gravy, eggs, and an assortment of other options. This hotel is located close to the university and also close to many great restaurants. The rooms are very nice and beds are comfortable and quiet. My only suggestion if you are staying here is to get a room on,the 3rd floor so you won't be bothered by the heavy footed walkers above you. This isn't the hotels fault but sure is a pain when trying to sleep and are awakened by heavy walkers above you.
This was our first trip to Carbondale and it was a very enjoyable stay and we were visiting the General John Logan Museum in Murphysboro the next day, so this was a short drive to the museum. Was a very nice property.
The room was clean and the lighting (which is important to us) was excellent. Also excellent was the water pressure for a wonderful shower. What wasn't okay was the breakfast. The area was not clean, especially the floor. It did not open on time. The choices were very limited. The price was right so we would likely stay there again.
The staff were great and effort is made to keep it clean, however, the hotel is in need of some updates and repairs. The breakfast options are limited, and the juice machine was out of order. The wings at the bar were great! But college kids were in there being kids - I got in and out.
BW can be a great value priced mid tier experience, but this was not. The potential was squandered by tis location by disrepair, poor execution and situs issues. Homeless drug addled vagrants in parkin lot and around hotel. Room was in horrible disrepair but clean. Clogged sink, broken basin, peeling paint, room door damaged
In the first room, we killed 5 roaches with in the first 10 minutes. It was dusty and moldy in the vents. The room smelt of mold. Hair on the bed linens. I asked for a different room or refund and was offered another room, which the front desk was not apologetic or friendly about. Second room smelt like mold and floors/ linen felt wet, mold in the vents, all furniture was dusty.
Lobby and room were very clean, well lit. Bed was comfortable. Shower had good water pressure, good temperature. Biggest complaint were no USB plug ins in the room. Not one. Unacceptable in this day and age of numerous electronics that most people carry with them everywhere. Also, the TV remote was too confusing, I could not figure out the volume controls, only got louder any time I tried. It was late a night when I checked in, I did not want to disturb the neighbors. So, dead phone, dying iPad, and no TV, Was a long night.
the towel shelf and desk were full of dust you could write your name in it, which leads to believe the room itself was not clean(ed). The tub had a hole in it. the drawers had stains in them and the doors on them did not close properly. the mirror on the wall looked like it could fall at any minute. the lamp plugs connections did not work therefore nothing could be charged, if we did not have personal chargers we would have been out of luck. the bathroom door had a hole in it as well as crayon marks on the inside door, again cleanliness concerns. the carpet in the hall was not vacuumed until 9:00 Saturday night. Would think that would be done during the day. Cable was horrible same channels multiple times no guide in room for channels. We would have changed rooms but from the above felt the rest of the hotel would have been the same. as it was SIUC moving in weekend nothing else available for other hotels.
I had my two little girls with me on this stay, and we chose a king suite with a couch in a separate room. My girls slept quiet and comfortably on the bed, and I've never experienced a better couch in any hotel room. There was plenty of room for my girls to play with their dolls watch TV. The location is great as it is near several food joints. I would definitely stay here again.
Staff was so pleasant & room was so clean. Breakfast was awesome. The Cook was was on top of everything. Everything was fresh & not watered-down like some of the other places we stayed. Definitely such a wonderful person to have there.
Besides being able to stay there with my dog I wanted to use the pool which was not heated as advertised and I inquired about it twice. The safety bar going into the pool was wobbly. The curtains torn
Room was very dirty. It Had dirty towels behind the couch. It had trash behind the end table upon arrival. The whole building was falling apart. Door handles falling off doors in the halls and exits. Carpet torn up throughout. Window was rigged up with sealer. Trim pieces hanging off the door frames. I asked for extra towels in the room. And never got any. We only had two for 4 people. Floor in bathroom was loose and falling apart. Very dissatisfied with the hotel upkeep.
I didn't catch the name of the man at the front desk but he was helpful, kind, and patient with our party. It was a great visit and we'll definitely have to come back for our next visit! Room was clean, pool was great after a long day, and staff was awesome.
We were not very happy with our stay at this hotel. There were ants and bugs in the breakfast area. The elevator inspection was expired. It is located next to a strip mall that has a restaurant and a liquor store and they sit out at night and drink alcohol out of the liquor store. There was also a yelling fight between a man and a woman that woke me up at 1 a.m.
Wonderful staff. Breakfast was great.pool was very chilly but Kids loved it and swam daily multiple times Breakfast lady was awesome and helpful. Housekeeping was great and very polite. Loved the picnic tables and grills in back.
I thought this was pretty nice, especially for the amount being charged. Double queen room with spacious with a decent size desk had I wanted to work. Everything seemed very clean. Breakfast buffet was about what you would expect --- adequate, but not memorable. Staff was very helpful. Two negative comments about the room: (1) The bathroom was fine but looked like it belonged in a different hotel from the room itself. Cheap molded tub/shower insert was showing its age. I'm also not crazy about the tub / shower combo generally. I don't know that I've ever taken a bath in a hotel. And a walk-in shower with the door is a lot nicer than a tub with a curtain. (2) folding closet door had come off its tracks, and was left leaning into the closet, making the closet unusable. See picture)
We were greeted upon arrival and checked in with no issues. After going to the car to bring in our items, we realized the outside doors (to the stairs) were not secured, so didn't need our room card. I thought maybe that was only during the day, but we found the same to be true at nite. The doors had the capability to be locked/secured, as there was a card reader there, but they were never locked. Our room had a few 'issues'. The toilet was totally loose, as the base was not 100% attached to the floor. It was an 'adventure' sitting down. The easy chair in the room was missing the back cushion, so we had to put a pillow there so you could sit somewhat comfortably. If you have a choice, do not request a room on the side of the small strip mall, where there is a restaurant and liquor store. It seems to be a 'hangout' of sorts in the parking lot and people were coming/going until really late, and they were very loud. The breakfast area was very small (maybe 5-6 tables), but the breakfast was very adequate. The employee working there was constantly replenishing the food and cleaning tables when guests left. She was very good. The hotel is very near many food and shopping places. We were hoping for a hot tub, but there wasn't one and the pool water seemed very cold, so didn't use that either. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. Checkout was also an easy process.
I reserved 2 rooms for family. Both rooms were very clean and comfortable. Greeted by a very nice and friendly front desk attendant. Rooms included breakfast and there was plenty at all times. Hotel had a nice pool as well. The hotel was full and some guest were a little loud but that was no fault of the Best Western. Have stayed at several of their hotels and have never been disappointed.
I travel frequently for work and really enjoyed my stay at this place! It was clean, quiet, comfortable and reasonably priced. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. The management is accommodating and went out of their way to make sure I had a pleasant stay! I will definitely stay here again when traveling to Carbondale!
This was my first hotel stay with my dog and I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet the hotel was. My dog slept all night both nights. The entire stay was smooth. There was plenty of safe space to walk the dog after dark.
Pool is closed, elevator is broken (3 days so far), maid service is shoddy at best. You have to put your dirty towels and trash in the hallway, if you want it picked up.Location is full of homeless, druggies and panhandlers. Cops or ambulances constantly. Dirty, smelly rooms. Won't be staying here again.
When I arrived they told me they changed my room reservation from a 2 queen bed to a king bed and a sofa sleeper that was broke. So couldn't be used as a sleeper. I was not given a discounted price. And the room was absolutely disgusting. I had no where to go as we got there late at night and my son had a wrestling tournament the next day. The pool was gross. Windows in the building had leaks so it was noisy. The bathtub was gross.
This hotel is one of the dirtiest, most run-down places I have stayed at. I arrived at 7pm after 12 hours in the car; if I wasn't so tired, I would pack up right now and keep driving. (As it is, I'm lying on top of the bed as I write this review because I really don't want to see what's been left in the sheets.) The only positive was the young man who checked me in; he was polite and professional. Other than that, I am totally grossed out and disappointed in Trip Advisor for giving this hotel an award. Based on the unclean condition of the room and the facility, there's no way I'm showering here or even staying for the free breakfast.
The experience was fantastic, the staff was friendly. Specially the front dest guy ‘Soni' was really helpful. Overall the breakfast was great and I loved it. The swimming pool was clean and warm. I would love to say at BW saluki inn anytime when I visit Carbondale.
I really enjoyed my stay at the Best Western in Marion. The rooms were very nice and have new beds; very comfortable. Check In/Out was very quick and easy due to Harry at the Desk. The little pub they have keeps the guests from having to drink and drive and everyone was very friendly. Breakfast is the standard Best Western Breakfast.; slightly better than others but well maintained by Jennifer. I will stay here again soon.
Nice hotel; good location; very clean and comfortable rooms; breakfast was not served every day; occasionally a little noisy with people out in the parking lot later at night since hotel is adjacent to lounge and strip mall.
The only reason I gave this 4 star was because of housekeeping. The room and bathroom were very clean. Beds nicely made and very comfortable. The hot breakfast was anything but hot. More like cool to lukewarm. CHEAP POWDER COFFEE CREAMER. Poor selection of fruit and cold items. Front desk did not enter my BW rewards number when I gave them the card at check-in. I got no points or promo rewards for my 3 night stay. Been staying at this hotel for over 6 years. It is not what it use to be. We love hiking and kayaking the Shawnee National Forest, doing the Wine Trail and visiting our daughters at SIU. Considering trying a different hotel next time.
Overall, another enjoyable weekend was had at the Best Western Hotel in Carbondale, Illinois. To maintain the care of the swimming pool, kitchen buffet area, front desk, and finally the exquisite private suites, the entire staff worked as a devoted and polite squad. My room was spotless and sterile, which speaks well of the housekeeping staff. Extra hand sanitizer was also available. In addition, everything, including the fitness center, business center, WiFi, television, electricity, and my personal favorite, the sophisticated Keurig coffee maker, was in working order. Also Jay, a manager, was incredibly patient and helpful, going above and beyond what is required or even expected of a manager. This was a fantastic experience! This hotel comes highly recommended, and I will be booking my family's stay with them in the future.
This hotel was very clean. The front desk person was very nice and welcoming. Our room was exactly what we thought it would be based on the pictures. The breakfast was a nice hot breakfast not a muffin in a bag. This hotel was close to several shopping centers and The SIU Campus where my son is attending and I'll definitely stay here every time we come to visit him!
Check in was quick and easy. Upon entering the room it was extremely musty smelling. Husband used the fitness room, said it was not good. It didn't have much to offer and he had to use a towel for floor work. It's a budget hotel so I guess you get what you pay for, however I've stayed in much nicer hotels for about the same price we paid. Next town over had a Drury Inn for the same cost, way better hotel and amenities. Will stay there next time we are in town. Breakfast was pretty simple, nothing special. Not many healthy options.
Very friendly and clean. Awesome stay. Will be back 5 stars. Close to at least 4 restaurants and the free breakfast was a plus. Also very close to the Duquoin State Fairgrounds. There is an indoor pool but we did not use it this time.
Great experience. Very friendly staff. Our room was clean. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Bathroom was clean and there is great water pressure and lots of hot water. We really enjoyed the hot breakfast. Biscuits and gravy, cheese omelets, bacon, waffles, cereal, muffins, oatmeal. Food was fresh and the breakfast staff was very friendly and attentive. We felt the area was safe and well lit. I did not have any concerns arriving back late at night to the hotel. We wanted to go check out Manny's bar attached to the hotel but they had already closed when we returned to the hotel. We did not swim or sit in the hottub as we did not have time during our stay but it looked good. I will stay here again and recommend this hotel to others.
We were staying here to rest after hiking around southern IL. Overall a great hotel and will definitely be coming back because of the bar. We were able to have a fun night with pool, darts, and good drinks. All within the comfort of the hotel! The bartender Aaron made fantastic drinks, was very friendly, and attentive. The drinks were fairly priced as well, and the bar was clean and had a chill atmosphere. If you are looking for a place to crash while visiting the Shawnee, look no further! The beds were comfy, room were clean, breakfast is good, and the bar is awesome.
I got to siu here and when ever i am in town i prefer this hotel particularly. They have never disappointed me customer service. Breakfast attendant is awesome. Lucia and angelica are very accommodating and friendly.
Very comfortable beds, staff exceptional. Only complaint coffee machine in lobby/breakfast area did not have regular coffee, only decaf. People that drink coffee need their coffee! I will check that next time.
Staff was all very nice and accommodating but the hotel itself was dirty. Pool had tile cracked on sides that my kids cut themselves with. It was very dirty with hair and other things. Never towels in the pool. Treadmill in the fitness center did not work, floors where extremely dirty, hallway was extremely hot, breakfast was not out at said time. It wasn't terrible just wish they would upkeep the hotel a little more since it is a great location.
Friendly and helpful employees. We had a pet friendly hotel room and were pleasantly surprised how clean it was. It is a great location and an excellent experience for travelers with pets! I will definitely stay here in the future.
Our room was clean, and the beds were comfortable, but there were several problems with the room: the smoke alarm was hanging from the ceiling by its wires; the refrigerator motor made a constant clicking noise that was so loud and annoying that we unplugged the fridge at times; one of the dresser drawers did not close. The breakfast buffet seemed low on food.
I recommend this hotel for all purposes, whether short or long. There is a bar attached to the hotel. In the bar there is a pool table, slot machine room, dart machine, Tv's. You can bring your own games of entertainment to share with your group and other visiting guest. We where able to decorate the bar for our party. You can pair your music to their sound system. We had food catered to the bar. We did bring card games and did raffles throughout the night with guest of the hotel and our group. Hospitality was pleasant. I plan to use this hotel again when needed. They do offer free breakfast, has a swimming pool , exercise room and located next to everythingggggggg. Meaning the mall, groceries, restaurants and lots of other shopping from clothing, shoes, candles, Walmart and more. I don't think you would be disappointed.
All their staff is really friendly & nice. They really make you feel welcomed. I even got a goodie bag for being a member! Love the location. Traveling with family and all stores & restaurants aren't that far away from the hotel.
Definitely one of the best hotels in the area. Less then 10 min from SIUC and great places to eat near close to the hotel. Check in and check out was fast and easy. Breakfast was delicious. I had a problem with my tv and they quickly fixed it. Would definitely recommend.
Clean and quiet rooms. The location is great. There's a couple different grocery stores nearby. Plenty of food options in the area, as well as convenient stores. Housekeepers work quickly and they're always so pleasant. No issues to report.
It was the worst experience I believe I have ever had as a hotel guest. Having to ask 3 times to be moved due to noise level was not the correct way to handle it for starters. When I did finally get moved I had one of two men that were at the front desk ( I have know idea of where they came from. No uniforms nor name tags) one of these men came to my room at 10:45pm and when ask through door who it was, because he stood off to the side where you couldn't see him through the peep hole. He says I brought the extra pillows and blanket you ask for. I DID NOT REQUEST THOSE. SO, I called the desk and ask if someone from up there was just at my door. He said yes, but I think it was miscommunication. Okay! Mistakes happen. Then it happened again at 2:00am. What! Same miscommunication on the same subject. AGAIN, I DID NOT REQUEST THEM. Very scary, unsafe place to stay.
I travel through southern Illinois quite a bit and I always find myself staying here. Comfortable stay, friendly staff, and who doesn't enjoy a complimentary breakfast?! I'd recommend Best Western to anyone.
The staff are always so polite and recognize us every time we come visit! We always stay at the Best Western when traveling for the home SIU baseball games. We have recommended this hotel to all of the other parents because of their great service! We wouldn't stay anywhere else!
This hotel has good internet streaming compared to other hotels (disconnects once in a while and steady other times), sad that the pool was closed due to covid, but they also served breakfast which I haven't seen in the hotels I have stayed durring business trips.
Great room. Great service. Clean. Friendly staff. Breakfast was delicious. Parking was safe and convenient. Would recommend Best Western again. Cost was reasonable. Will definitely stay again. Already have rooms booked.
We stayed at Best Western In Carbondale for a family reunion. This is a wonderful hotel. The entire staff is very good, professional, and caring. The rooms were clean. Breakfast was great. Location is excellent and safe. Strongly recommend!
This was our second time staying at the Saluki Inn. A nice place with an attached bar and continental breakfast. Rooms are big and clean. Shower pressure is brutal. Staff is friendly. I like that the sink is separate from the bathroom.
Helping and caring staff.. Lucia is too sweet . Hot breakfast was served and they followed covid guidelines. I will be staying here for my all future stays . 200 words are too short to describe my stay here clean rooms freshly painted and renovated
Friendly staff the girl wo checked me in went above and beyond to satisfy my needs. They accomodated me in my favourite room. Very good breakfast . Nice bar and bartender I always win money here gambling
This hotel is in a nice location, the pool was under construction so I didn't get to enjoy that but I knew that before booking. Staff were pleasant. Checking in and out was a snap. Continental breakfast was alright.
Had a wonderful time and the service was great. The room was clean and very nice. They wore mask and I love that it was peaceful even with a bar connected to the motel...recommend for anyone you will enjoy
My whole stay was pleasant and staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. Hiren helped me get a room exactly how i wanted it to be. Me and my girlfriend have stayed in many hotels but this was best option for the price paid.
I always stay here when in town. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The shower pressure is great. This is an excellent value for the price. They are currently updating the rooms and pool. There are 4 restaurants within walking distance in the strip mall next door. I feel comfortable and safe here.
My daughter and I stayed the night at Best Western in Carbondale. Our sole purpose was to go shopping. We visit here a few times a year, and the Best Western is the only place our family stays within the city limits. The room was clean, and the beds were very comfortable. The whole hotel seemed to be very clean, friendly and well run. All of the stores and restaurants are very close by.
Im staying at the Best Western Saluki Inn and went to the bar connected to the hotel and the bartender Amanda was amazing. She was one of the most personable bartenders I've ever encountered and definitely deserves a raise.
Amanda in the bar is amazing and very polite that is the best bar I've been too in years!! Amanda made it fun and very enjoyable!! The other bartender Sam I believe was her name she was funny and had a beautiful smile!! Keep up the good work guys!! I will definitely be going back there again!!!
I love this hotel. The service is so excellent. Gabby the manager is really good what she does she is the best. Amanda works the bar in the evening and she is a people person. Really nice and she got the job done.
The pool was great(a little cold) and the room very clean. The property itself is well maintained. Breakfast was grab and go instead of buffet hot food. We always look forward to the buffet... it's alway good. Perhaps a microwavable sandwich to go.
This hotel experience was excellent! The customer service was superb and the bar was a lot of fun with great drinks and food. Couldn't ask for a better experience. Kirsten was the highlight of my visit as she provided excellent customer service even before I arrived. I call a few times and spoke with her so I can make sure I was properly prepared for my visit and she was very helpful and very friendly. Couldn't ask for a better experience. They certainly make you feel at home. Superb you all! Superb!
We checked in on the evening of March 6 and the young lady at the counter was excellent. We used this as a place to crash for the bicycle ride in Alto Pass about 25 minutes away. The room was clean though the coffee grounds had been overlooked. We had a quiet stay with at least two college sports teams on the property that weekend. I am not sure how it was so quiet. Breakfast was filling with eggs sausage biscuits and gravy. The rooms were worn but serviceable.
There was nobody available to check us in for approx. 15-20 minutes. Upon arrival there was a sign saying they stepped away and to use the phone on the right to call. I called several times and the phone just range without any response. Pool was ice cold (not heated as advertised), the room was dirty, microwave had not been cleaned at all, and only got about 5 channels on the TV.
We always choose this location because they have a restaurant lounge, indoor pool, workout area, clean & nice rooms, and the best breakfast overall. We also like the clothes from somebody of shopping and restaurants
My daughter and I visited SIU. We drove 5 hours and arrived at 11PM The front desk was very nice and quick. The room was clean and pillows were so soft. We sell well. We checked out at 9am. That was quick also. We did not eat the breakfast because we had to leave but it looked good. It was a short stay but it was great.
First time at a Best Western. Room and bed were good, breakfast was sub par fake eggs, biscuits and gravy. Room walls were thin; heard the conversation in the next room. Convenient location, close to SUIC. mall, and parks. We hiked in the area so hotel location was premium.
I stayed here during a road trip vacation as it was near Giant City State Park, i had made my reservation online several days before. First, the front desk clerk advised that there was NO WIFI. You had to go in the bar next door to use their wi-fi. Second, I had asked for a quiet room away from elevators, vending, etc. (I always do this). When the front desk clerk handed me my key, I asked again if it was near the elevator. She said it was NOT right on top of the elevator and no shared walls (should have been my hint) and that she's never had any complaints. Well, when I went up to the room it was directly across from the elevator, so I didn't even go into it and went back to the front desk to request another room. She said all she could move me to would be a room with 2 Queen beds. I had reserved a King room but ok, 2 Queen beds would work as long as I don't have to listen to the elevator all night long. When I got to my second room the cable would not work at all. The TV turned on but all you got was a black screen. So I called the front desk, she came up and could not get it to work. I advised that I can't stay somewhere with no Wi-fi AND no TV, so if the third room had problems I would be leaving So we went back to the front desk and the Manager stepped in to try to find me another room. We went up to the third room together and things seemed to be ok (at least as good as it was going to get) with this room. The manager was very nice and said she would cover my dinner due to the check-in issues, and she did. The TV worked in the third room but they have over 1000 channels and no channel guide, so it took quite a long time to find basics like CNN. The rooms aren't as well lit as the pictures imply. The lighting was poor, the room was dim and dark with all the lights on. To see the keys on the remote you had to walk over and look directly under a light. One of the folded up towels in the bathroom was damp, either someone else had used it or they didn't leave it in the drying long enough. Then later when I was finally ready to go to sleep I closed the room darkening drape and it had something disgusting all over it. I don't know if it was blood or make up but when I showed a picture of it to the front desk clerk in the morning she also said it was disturbing. The bed was fine but the pillows were tiny. The shower was fine, and Breakfast was fine. I didn't get a chance to use the pool due to it took so long to check in and get settled in a room The manager and desk clerk were both very nice, but still overall I think that this is a terrible place to stay.
Stayed there 3 nights for my wife's HS reunion. Nice place, clean and close to many restaurants, Walmart, Target, etc. The hotel does not have a bar or place to eat inside, but does furnish a very nice breakfast. Beds are very nice and firm and cordial staff.
WE have stayed here several times when visiting SIUC campus. Staff very nice. Room was clean, however the ceiling in the bathroom above shower was coming apart showing drywall tape. Room had the odor of Ben Gay or simular product. The bed was a little hard in my opinion. Breakfast was good, always kept up with keeping everything full. Parking gets full fast especially if returning late an night and spills into other lots that arentl the hotels. I would visit again. Make sure to make reservations early for special weekends at SIU.
I got invited to an interview at SIU, and decided to stay at Saluki Inn. The hotel staff was friendly, and the amenities were what would be expected. Not fantastic, but not bad. Breakfast was tasty, and it was nice that they opened so early so I could wake up before my interview. Overall, the stay was pleasant, and I would recommend it.
Our favorite place to stay when we visit our daughter at SIU! Wonderful, friendly, and helpful staff! Good hot breakfast with a very attentive staff! Great value for the money! Would highly recommend!
The hotel was not clean. The room carpet was dirty with stains, bathroom and tub need a deep cleaning and upgrade. Bed and sheets were fine. Overall state of the hotel is that it needs an upgrade and cleaning.
Hotel met our expectations but nothing more. Clean comfortable room for a fairly high price as it was SIU move in weekend. Hotel was full but was staffed to handle the customers. We go to Carbondale several times per year and will stay here again.
Stayed here one night while I was in town for a SIU college visit. Staff was friendly, room was clean, shower was good. No complaints. The free breakfast was a nice touch. The food was hot and they always had plenty of for the crowd that was there. Location was good, about 10-15 minute drive to campus, not bad. Stayed on the 2nd floor, sounded like an elephant was in the room above, so some noise.
A male housekeeper walked in my room 8:30 in the morning while I was changing clothes. He had a master key but he didn't knock or make an annoucement. He saw my husband and granddaughters leave and just came in. I thought my husband was coming back in because all I heard was the lock turning and door opening... then I saw that man. I felt soooo violated!!!!!! The management said he wasn't suppose to enter rooms that early in the morning. They refund my money but I'm still feeling some kind of way. I'll never stay there ever again.
Group of us stayed here because we rode down on cycles. Our plan was to eat at a BBQ place in town and was told about another place for ribs and went there instead. The Hotel was wonderful. Frank greeted us with a smile and was very nice and friendly. The Lounge had a fantastic bar tender named Cassidy who was so friendly and helpful. They were having a beer special which was great. The room was huge, bathroom was huge. Bed comfortable. The room was very clean and quiet. Though we did not use the pool it looked very nice. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it to others. Great location to eating, drinking and shopping, also.
My hotel room smelled, specifically the bed. All linens in the room were stained (bedding and towels). There were hairs in the bed that clearly were not mine. I considered leaving after the first night and switching hotels, but stayed because of the convenient location to my training. I would never consider staying in this hotel again, and would not recommend the hotel to anyone.
I would definitely return to this hotel. The price for the great accommodations was good. Very clean and inviting. Good service. Elevator for upper floors. Nice breakfast in the morning. Easy access but off the main road...quiet!
Great value & location. Needs some small improvements. Needs a serious deep clean, room had a few issues (broken curtain, bathroom door didn't latch, chip in the bathtub) We are scheduled to stay again in August, but I will look at my options before making reservations for parent weekend in September.
I booked the room on Priceline and was placed in a "Priceline" room that had a slab for a bed, but I was moved the next morning and it's been smooth sailing ever since. The staff are friendly, beds (new bed) is very comfortable and what's not to love about endles cookies
My son, after driving for 6 1/2 hours in the torrential rain, arrived at this hotel, at which we reserved and prepaid for a room, was turned away at because he was 5 days shy of 21 years of age. After pleas and promises from myself (his mother) I was advised of their strict policy that no one under that age would be allowed to register and that the reservation would not be honored. I found a hotel down the road that gave him a room, and saved $30 in the process. After several e-mails and a phone call to the corporate office, they finally agreed to refund my money. There is no "age field" on the reservation form, and nothing on the website that advises of the policy. Therefore, I am letting people know.
Convenient to SIUC, downtown Carbondale, local shopping and dining, the Best Western Saluki Inn is a true class act. Parking is convenient. Staff is courteous, helpful, and welcoming. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Breakfast is nourishing. When I come to Carbondale, the Saluki Inn is my go-to hotel. Protip: book early if staying during SIU events - the Saluki Inn fills up quickly!
Staff was easy to talk to and did what was asked. There were some fun size Candy bars under the couch. Phone booking was awesome. Pool was clean. Kids loved the cookies at night. Breakfast could have more room.
The Best Western Saluki Inn is centrally located hotel in Carbondale, IL. The hotel is very warm, welcoming and clean when you walk in the front door. The rooms are clean, spacious, and quiet. The staff is great as well!!! We will stay there again.
I stayed here 2/27 and 2/28/19. Working in the area and thought I only needed 1 night, I had Room #109,on the 1st night. It turned out I needed to stay a 2nd night. Checked in again and got Room #224. Both rooms were clean and slept well. Breakfast is ready at 5:30 am, so you can be on your way. I seen 2 different Front desk clerks and 2 different Clerks in the morning, (due to the 2 day stay). All of the Staff members were Cheerful and Polite.
Average staff, below average food, do not get a warm fuzzy feeling staying there. Internet was ok, lounge was ok, and the location was excellent. I have had 2 similar experiences here, debating on staying elsewhere that is not as convenient but has better overall atmosphere.
Hotel is really nice and staff great, Been here a few times. Always like the breakfast and pool. Location is very good. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Housekeepers, front desk and breakfast staff are all friendly and welcoming. We recommend this hotel when in Carbondale and we will be back next year.
The hotel was located close to SIU which was important for our son's college visit. Hotel has a restaurant and bar attached which is great for late night dinner and drinks. Clean, comfortable and a good value
Saluki Inn Best Western is a very comfortable and convenient hotel. The rooms are nice, beds very comfortable. The staff is great, very helpful. I like the sizes of the king rooms. The hallways are very spacious and our dogs are very welcome. Great hotel for our dogs because the hallways are wide and we are usually boarded in the lower level. Nice breakfast with some good choices available.
Overall this place is pretty nice. The staff is what makes this place. Thanks to the check in woman and the woman who works the restaurant. You made us feel important and that made our stay top notch. The bed was comfortable. The heating unit in the room was loud and ran constantly which is a bit distracting. I thought the décor was a bit dark but we were only there two nights so it wasn't that important. It could use some upgrades but all in all it is a comfortable place to stay for a few nights.
clean but needs quite a bit maintenance in guest rooms & guest bathrooms. Pool room very dark, for safety reasons I suggest more lighting. Young kids were swimming without supervision. Lots of places close by for dining & shopping.
Very clean and nice older hotel. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. An excellent breakfast every morning. Pool was a little cool, but clean. Even with several basketball teams there at the same time, it was quiet. I like this place
I stayed here on business for about a week. The hotel is in a good location, close to restaurants and shopping. The staff are very friendly and accommodating however the hotel is extremely dirty!! My bed smelled of urine, there was black mold in my and coworkers air conditioning unit. My coworker complained and was told they were sold out and there was nothing they could do. Would not recommend staying here and would not stay here again myself.
Hotel was very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. The beds are comfy and the decor is up to date. Breakfast is pretty good and they have plenty of coffee. The hotel is close to SIU. I'll stay there whenever I go down to SIU.
Good pricing and the front desk was very accommodating. There was a housekeeping issue, and thanks to the front desk staff they were able to help us. The room could also use a new mattress. The lounge was nice to hang out in.
This is a good hotel. The room was clean, the staff was friendly, the bed was comfortable, breakfast was typical (average, but what do you expect for an included breakfast?) There was plenty of parking, and there are many restaurants close by. I would definitely stay here again next time traveling through Carbondale.
It wasn't too bad of a stay. The beds were comfortable and location was good. I felt the rooms were a bit pricey for the type of hotel. However the lounge/restaurant attached to it provides the perfect atmosphere and was the best part of the experience.
I stayed here recently. Room was clean and quiet. Breakfast is included in the morning. They had a mixer in the evening at Manny's next door with drink and appetizer specials. Check in was quick and efficient. We will be staying here again in a few weeks.
The Good: Clean room, clean bathroom, bedsheets etc. all spotless, clean. The Bad: The TV did not work, the technician came and left; TV still did not work. The shower is pulling out of the wall, makes you wonder if you should worry about setting the shower head. Not up to the usual standards of Best Western.
We enjoyed our stay at the Saluki Inn. It was clean, comfortable and the staff was very friendly. We will be staying at this location again in the future. Very easy to locate and welcoming atmosphere.
Stopped here on the way further south. Front desk personnel were awesome. Great breakfast. Beds were comfy, too! Did not get to use the pool or weight room, but they looked very clean and tidy. Had stopped at another hotel in the area and was not impressed. So glad we changed our minds and came here!
Staff is fantastic! Rooms are great, never had any issues here. I would Definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for somewhere nice for you or for you and the family to stay this is the hotel to go to!
Awesome stay. The staff was very personable and knowledgeable. The bar staff was excellent but the kitchen was very slow, it took an hour to get a chicken sandwich and they weren't busy. It was 20 Mikem out of our way frim the highway, but it was worth the stay.
It is a decent hotel with most amenities. We did gave to request the bathroom floor be mopped. It was sticky, dirty and had shoe prints. Our room smelled of fried food, as the bar was below our room. Not pleasant.
Most of the staff is nice and polite. The room was ok and fairly clean, however, there were tears in the curtains, the chair was ripped up, the drawers didn't close in the dresser and the TV had really poor reception. (even though it was DirecTV). It was reasonably priced and definitely conveniently located for what we needed, but could use a bit of maintenance.
It's clean, it's close, the staff is polite. I try to stay here when bringing my son to or picking him up from school because of those reasons. It's not the Ritz Carlton but that's not what I expect from a Beet Western. On the whole, the place is fine, as long as you aren't there when they jack the rates up obscenely.
I stayed the night here after a long day on a wine trail. It did take about fifteen minutes for somebody to come to the counter. The directions on the sign told me to call a number on the service phone. It rang and rang before an employee finally came to the front. The staff, including the woman working the next morning, we not very friendly. The room, however, was clean and the beds were comfortable. We slept well and had breakfast there the next morning. They have a decent variety of breakfast food available.
This was a terrible place to stay. I had my cat with me, so the room they provided was a "pet" room: filthy and the carpet already torn up by other animals. Also: 5"X4" hole in carpet; black grease and bugs (dead and alive) on window sill; drink and food left in refrigerator; little hairs in bathtub; so much dust I left large X's on the side tables. Horrid. I did speak with the manager the next day and she seemed stunned. I hope this place tidies up.
Hotel manager staff very rude. The room was dirty when i arrived. There is peeling paint and exposed wires in the room. The hotel smells like it flooded long ago with that damn moldy smell that they try to resolve by spraying air freshener down the hallways all day.
We stayed here the weekend of our wedding. The rooms, staff, breakfast, and bar were all great and service was fantastic. However, a few days later we did get a $250 charge for smoking in our room. We don't even smoke.... so this was obviously a mistake. I emailed management and they never responded. I'm not sure if the refund on my card was from them, or my dispute with my credit card company. Either way, this was upsetting considering we definitely didn't smoke and we brought them a TON of business that weekend. If I would not have checked I might not have noticed.
In town for a wedding. Had a great stay at the Best Western. I would recomend this place to anyone. It was clean, comfortable and staffed by very nice people. Not a problem at all in fact it was a great experience.
Building is well maintained and various areas are kept clean. They have a swimming pool and an exercise room as well as an area for serving breakfast in the morning. Bedroom was decent sized and had the standard bed and table/chair for working purposes. Television was a nice size and there was a decent selection of channels available. Free breakfast in the morning included the standard toast, bagels, and waffle maker that many places have. They also had scrambled eggs and breakfast potatoes, which were a nice variation. Very nice breakfast options, especially for a free continental breakfast. Prices are decent but a little on the higher end. Have stayed at similar places for cheaper prices, but the location is not unreasonable with all the extra amenities available and the quality/cleanliness. Only issue with the entire stay is that neighbors weren't very quiet in the morning. A lot of doors opening and "slamming" starting before 6AM, which was a little frustrating. Seemed to be a lot of high school aged kids around at breakfast, so guessing that noise is more so from the kids coming and going. No fault of hotel, but being woken up early multiple times did detract from experience a bit.
For me the Saluki Inn checked all the boxes: * Clean room, very comfortable bed * Friendly, pleasant staff * Refrigerator, microwave, quiet HAVC unit on which the fan can run continously * Sink outside of the bathroom makes things faster for multiple people * Good breakfast that starts at 6 a.m. * Very quiet up on the 3rd floor, slept well No negatives here!
I enjoyed my overnight stay. The staff was friendly and even suggested events for my family to enjoy in town. The only disappointment was the pool was not available because it was being repaired. My son was unhappy.
Decent hotel. Close to SIU which was the purpose of our visit. A bit pricey for quality of hotel. Bathroom could have been cleaned better upon arrival but the rest of the room was clean. Nice to have restaurant and bar attached to the hotel. The restaurant service was excellent!
This is the 4th or 5th time we have stayed at this particular hotel. Again, it was a good stay. We stayed with a high school wrestling team. The rooms were all clean. The beds were comfortable. The front desk was helpful. The continental breakfast was fine. We did try to eat at the restaurant in the hotel. We couldn't get anyone to wait on us so we left and ate next door at Moe's. Will stay again!
Nice basic hotel room. Good hot and cold breakfast. Far from campus. Very close to shopping and a multitude of chain restaurants. Easy on and off the interstate. Make reservations VERY early for functions at SIU. Books fast.
We stayed here while attending the Murphysboro Apple Festival. Rooms were very clean and the location is convenient and along the Carbondale shopping strip. Our visit included a free breakfast which was good, the typical waffles, eggs, bacon, etc. The lobby always had some free snacks available as well.
I was pleasantly pleased with every aspect of the hotel & its amenities. We ate in the lounge & played the slots. The breakfast was delicious & filling. We utilized the internet & had family come by for dinner to celebrate Christmas. I appreciated the hospitatlity
I was told this property was recently renovated and I wasn't disappointed! Very clean, modern, and comfortable. Breakfast could have been better, but you can't go wrong with fresh waffles. The manager over Christmas was so nice and helpful!
Stayed in first floor, clean, quiet and decor was updated. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was the typical hotel continental spread. I used the workout room, it is small but had the free weights & treadmill and elliptical-that's all I needed & I was the only one using the room so it was great! Would stay here again.
My son and I stayed here during a SIU College visit, we had a great stay and the hotel met our needs. The fitness center was functional but a bit dated and the pool looked very clean. (though we did not use it) Breakfast was great and seemed to be kept up very well. Coffee was available and tasty! Very friendly staff!
We stay at this hotel every time while visiting family located in Du Quoin, IL. Very nice hotel with a great breakfast selection. It is located within minutes of restaurants and shopping. We travel with our dog, and even with other pets in the hotel, very quiet!
For $87 which included a $20 dog fee, we had two queen beds, a mini-fridge, a microwave, and a small coffeemaker. At 6 a.m. bacon, eggs, biscuits & gravy, etc., was available in the lobby. Room was clean and quiet. We were given a room near the back door to easily take our dog out. Walk to Pier One and Mo's Grill, Freeze ice cream shop.
The hotel is very clean. Pool area is nice. Water was warm and clean. Nice hotel with a friendly staff. We also enjoyed walking to the Krogers just down the street. There is a gambling room that is attached to lounge and this was fun at the end of the day.
Comfortable accommodations and close to SIU campus. Several options for dining and shopping in the immediate area. Housekeeping staff is ready to clean rooms early so we found it necessary to keep Do Not Disturb sign on door regularly prior to leaving for the day.
I arrived at 9 PM in the initial room given to me had not been cleaned or serviced at all. I had to return to the check-in desk and request another room. Very difficult after a long drive. There should be extra effort for late check in persons.
This is a great hotel. Our room (King-sized bed) was modern and clean. The internet was great, the TV reception was good (Direct TV and bad storms, but it came around). The staff was helpful and friendly. They had a good breakfast selection, but we did have to ask for some food items to be restocked (which they did). I would recommend this hotel - and we would stay here again.
We have now stayed with you each of the past 3 or 4 years as we traveled to Florida for each winter. We are sure glad that we found you as a pet friendly property. We do not mind the short drive from the freeway to and from the hotel. Your place is too nice to miss. Friendly staff, accommodating to our needs, clean, reliable, close to restaurants, etc. etc. Thanks for being so darn good.
Great location, free breakfast and warm indoor swimming pool. Check in and Check out was fast and painless. Staff members were courteous and very helpful. Breakfast was included and the price was fantastic. I'll definely come back.
We have stayed at this hotel many times and are pleased with each visit. The staff is outgoing and very helpful. The included breakfast is better than many you find in restaurants, fresh coffee is always on.
We've stayed here twice, once fore a class reunion and once just to visit family in the area. Both times we were pleased with the accommodations and amenities. The complementary breakfast was very good, with a nice variety, quality and quantity. It is close to the mall and several restaurants. And best of all, it is close to Barns and Noble. We love Books!
I have not stayed in a best western before this. My experience has made me want to never do it again. Having been involved with the industry as a contractor for 18-plus years, I expected more. The people at the desk were nice enough. They had an attached bar/bar-food restaurant. The person working there was not paying attention very well. I waited a couple minutes while she finished whatever she was doing on her lap top. The drink I asked for was on an upper shelf. No ladder, just jumped up on the back counter to reach it. Then while I was waiting for a burger, she had forgotten about another clients drink order, apparently for a little while. My room at first appearance was ok. However, as I began to take a look around, and mind you I have been a part of more hotel renovation than I care to think about, I started to notice issues. One outlet I tried did not work at all. There was dark mold around the base of the toilet. Grout missing in spots on the tile, and not very clean overall in the bathroom. This makes me question everything at that point. If the room keep cannot clean a bathroom correctly, how well effective are they at the rest of the job. The carpet wasn't very clean either. Then when I sat down at the couch, I noticed an issue with the floor under the carpet. It felt as though someone had carpeted over a hole and weakened sub-floor. Probably from a water leak from the tub? It wasn't a room with a view, looking over a rooftop with roof units. But didn't pay for a view. However, the curtains were torn and damaged. It is no wonder why the hotel seemed so low in occupancy. Update your workout room equipment with better functioning equipment. Train housekeeping and manager. Obviously there is a lack of accountability. A renovation would help. Based on my experience, the property does not perform regular inspection or they have a lack of experience. In which case that means the regional managers are not doing there job very well either. Accountability goes upwards in the hotel business, all the way to the president of the company or brand owner. If this is what your brand is about then I guess this will fall on deaf ears. If I had a fairly good experience, I may have considered Best Western for our stay in Connecticut over thanksgiving to visit my son. But my wife would be appalled with such accommodation. The hotel business is notorious for these type of accommodations, especially at your price point. The RevPar of this property probably doesn't warrant additional investment. I have to believe that better quality can be delivered at this price point. However, the things I noted are more than just hotel brand quality issues. Some are possible safety issues. Others are definite management issues. Either way, I would not rent out room 223-A until I addressed the floor issue.
We spent three nights here. Nice hotel, very close to MANY stores as well as restaurants. Our room was large with a King bed on the first floor. Hotel staff was accommodating and all were very helpful and kind (except one at our check-out). The Hotel offers a nice breakfast with fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal and hot items like scrambled eggs, bacon and biscuits and gravy. There is also a machine to make large Belgian waffles with lots of toppings. There were muffins and rolls and mixes for oatmeal etc. I enjoyed the various juices, orange, apple, grapefruit etc. as well as coffee which was available all day. If you want to eat nearby...I recommend Fujiama (just a block or so south of the Hotel) It was amazing. Register with Best Western's point card for and take advantage of these points to buy things onlineor get discounts.
Very clean and good-looking. Very good Mexican restaurant almost next door. Staff very helpful. We had trouble figuring out how to get on the Internet to print our boarding passes and the desk person was very helpful. This was just down the road from my daughter and was very handy for her to pick us up to take us to Marion to the airport.
Newly remodeled property. Very clean, modern, efficient, comfortable, central location to area services. Nice attached bar and grill with expanded hours. Good rates. Quality rest. Helpful staff. Would stay again for sure.
This hotel is a great location for visiting ISU. Very nice hotel. Clean with friendly staff. The hot breakfast was very good. With a freshman at ISU we are hoping we can get this hotel for every visit. Close to shopping and good restaurants.
Great central location right in Carbondale. Friendly staff. Fresh and hot breakfast items. Close to Kohl's, grocery store, and many good places to eat. We went to Great City Lodge for dinner, the food and lodge were wonderful. Would stay here again. Room was clean, mattress comfortable and lots of pillows!
This motel is fantastic! From check in to check out the staff is friendly & helpful. Had the pack n play set up in the room when I got there. Gave me a room convenient to door to take my dogs out. The room was immaculate! Plenty of space. Fresh & clean! Breakfast was included & there was plenty to choose from, hot foods as well. Bacon, eggs, cereal, yogurt, bagels, toast, muffins, & more. This is definitely the place to stay & price was reasonable. Mexican restaurant in lot next door so we could just walk there. Ordered carry out & it was very good! This was a perfect stay!
Definitely worth the upgrade if you have more than 2 in your party or just want 2 separate rooms of tv (though open floor plan makrs volume a trick. Manager Gabby is the one to get with if there is an issue, she is a gem! Will say here that Expedia is thw WIRST "service" and would suggest trying direct through Gabby ir booking.com in general.
This is probably one of the best stays we have had very good rooms, great breakfast and indoor pool and work out room. The staff were very help full and accommodating . wouldn't have a problem recommending this hotel to anyone
I really enjoy staying here. The staff is fantastic (both at the desk and in housekeeping), the beds are so comfortable, the room is always clean and neat. The breakfast is fine, and the in-room coffee is actually quite delicious. It's an easy choice to make when I'm coming to Carbondale. (And a friend of mine in the hospitality business told me that "you can't go wrong with a Best Western," and so far, that has been absolutely true.)
We were on our road adventure back from New Orleans to Chicago and stayed over in Carbondale, IL. We wanted to stop in Carbondale as I went to SIU over 47 years ago. To say the least, I recognized very little. The Hotel and room were very clean and the staff was excellent and helpful. This is a place to stay at in Carbondale, IL.
Lovely staff. Clean and comfortable. I definitely would stay here again: it's a great value. Two things: no hooks in the bathroom to hang your clothes while you shower. Draping them on the toilet is your only option. It would be cheap to install hooks in every bathroom: that's pretty standard at hotels and at home. The other thing: it was 8 am and the maid came in without knocking. A half hour later, she did it again. We were checking out that morning, and I understand that she was anxious to get started, but that's not appropriate. It's true that I didn't have a "do not disturb" sign on the door, but no knocking entry at 8 am - really? Otherwise, great job!
This is a clean, comfortable, well-situated hotel. Perfectly adequate for a short stay. Staff was cheerful and helpful. Pool too cool for me; skip the breakfast eggs. Room was good size; appreciated the 'frig and microwave in every room.
I think that this is a great hotel that is clean, friendly, close to shopping and restaurants. The staff is helpful, and if there is ever an issue, they rectify the issue if they can. It's a secure hotel, and the connected restaurant/bar is nice to get a last minute drink before heading up to our room.
I stayed here for 5 nights. I usually try to stay at Best Westerns when I travel, if possible. This hotel was quiet, clean and comfortable. This particular hotel had one of the best breakfast buffets I have seen at ANY Best Western. It was kept well-stocked and the offerings varied each morning. Coffee was always hot and fresh. There was also a machine that dispensed cold lemonade, orange juice and water 24 hours a day. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. On the downside, there was no clock radio in the room at all, nor was there any full-length mirror. I travel quite a bit, and I don't think I have ever been in a hotel room that did not have a clock radio. Moreover, the air conditioner unit in the room did not cool the room down sufficiently, yet the lobby and hallways were cold.
Planned our Eclipse stay 4 months in advance, choosing this property because the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful when I called for information. So glad we stayed here! A very comfortable hotel, clean and well appointed. Great location in Carbondale. Easy access to all types of shopping.
We stayed at this Best Western for 2 days in August. This was during the big eclipse event. The personnel at the Best Western were amazing. From the night desk, Myla, who provided assistance for last minute requests (spare key to make a quick trip to the car) to Julie at the breakfast bar, who not only prepared and restocked the food, but also took the time to walk around to the patrons asking if they needed anything, the staff at this hotel was very, very personable! We were so appreciative of their friendliness and helpful spirit! The room was quiet and nicely decorated. Very pleased with our stay!
Room and breakfast were average - not great, not bad. Our room had a musty/moldy smell and we ran the air conditioner, but since we only stayed one night did not complain. Beds were clean and comfortable, bathroom was average. Due to SIU move in week and Solar Eclipse, hotel would not honor corporate partner rates - $200 for one night for an average hotel - unacceptable.
This hotel looks nice inside and out. Bed was comfy, the free breakfast was great. They allow pets which is why I stayed. Pool area looked nice but did not get the chance to swim. The lounge/bar was nice with good food. Only thing is the bathroom set up is kind of strange and the room was kind of small. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
Carbondale hosts a university with few hotels on/ near campus... unfortunately, you must drive to hotels rather than walk. This hotel was the closest and served our needs. Staff is very friendly and eager to please
The hotel is in need of a facelift. Refresh the paint on the walls, new carpeting. Very high smell of fabric refresher of some kind in the hallways. We had a 3 bed suite, only one trash can in the entire room. No tv channel list in room, had to ask for one at the desk, then the tv channels didn't correspond to the list. But, room was clean, didn't smell, nice water pressure in shower, drain wasn't clogged in shower. Price for the room seemed high for the condition of the hotel.
Came down from room around 9:20a for breakfast and was completely picked over like they were ready to close down at 9:30 when on a Sunday they say they serve till 10:00a...so that means no bakery, no yogurt, they were serving gravy and biscuits - 2 biscuits left and the dreggs of the gravy pot, barely a spoonful of solids something like glue...no milk, two little boys had the last of the muffins...so bottom line for this Sunday...bad service and selection instead of keeping their usual promise...
A comfortable bed, clean bathroom with hot shower and friendly staff made our stay here enjoyable. We recommend this hotel to those wishing to be near the SIU campus. The area has lots to offer in the way of shopping and dining.
Our stay was very nice. The room was clean, The staff Brittany at the check in desk was very cordial and went out of her way to be helpful. They had made fresh cookies and had ice water available. Friendly overall
The hotel was nice and clean and the staff was very friendly. The only thing I didn't like was that housekeeping comes to your room extremely early to clean. If you are not up at that time they will provide you extra towels but they don't come back at a later time to clean its like all the staff departs by noon. Evening housekeepers are needed especially when big events are in town.
I've been through Carbondale multiple times this summer and was fortunate enough to discover The BW Saluki Inn early on. The staff is always so friendly/helpful and my room has always been very clean in full working function. With being surrounded by various restaurants it is very convenient, but the bar/grill downstairs makes for an even greater convenience. Pool and fitness rooms are exactly what the nightly traveler is looking for. Breakfast is simply yet filling and always tasty as well. I will always look forward to my stays here.
Receptionists were very nice and seemed to care! Room was clean and beds were comfy. Wi-fi was good with our phones. Breakfast was ok, nothing fancy, juice machine was out of order but they had replacements. Treadmill and elliptical need replaced!! Treadmill was loose and felt old. When I first started thought I was going to slip and fall on it. Elliptical was extremely loud and not at the higher end. Overall good experience but could use a few minor updates still..
I was charged 3 times for my 1 room stay 6/25-6/26. I reserved my room through booking.com. i paid through booking. When I check out on the 26th I was charged two more times. One of the charges was already refunded. The other required a call. I explained to manager Gabby. She was extremely rude and told me she did not have time to deal with it. Booking called to explain to her. It has now been 6 days and I still don't have my refund
Booked room 365 days in advance and couldn't get a room on the first floor. The sink was clogged and just filled with water causing a nasty back up to come out of it. The plug in by sink didn't work. Hotel Needs Updating!!
Was very happy with the hotel and the staff, our stay was very pleasant. My wife just had surgery and the staff wentt out of their way to be helpful to her. They gave us a handicapped room and made sure she had everything she needed for a good nites rest.
I stayed at the Saluki Inn for 10 days. The front desk staff and Brittany were very professional, caring and attentive to my needs, they were outstanding!!!!. Julie, the chef, had exceptional breakfast, in a timely manner everyday. The food was great and fresh everyday. I enjoyed the fitness center, cleanliness of the hotel outside, and inside, free internet, and the self service laundry, were all accessible, and operational, and great. So thankful to to the staff, and ALL the employees that made my stay a wonderful experience, and I will return soon. Make sure you join their rewards program.
Very nice hotel, have stayed there in the past, that's why I chose it again for my recent stay.I would recommend this hotel to anyone that needs to stay in Carbondale. Great hotel for family coming in to see students at SIUC. It's only 8 minutes away from campus.
The hotel was great, the staff was incredible, the rooms were well appointed. I was truly impressed with the staff, we had excellent conversations with everyone from the desk staff to the breakfast staff and the cleaning staff, everyone was friendly and genuinely warm. I would like to see the addition of a hot tub as this amenity is very important to my wife and I as it adds to our comfort and ability to relax during a stay.
Located off the main road in and out of the city. Close to stores, restaurants, etc. In town for a one night stay before an open water meet. Had a late check-in, the front desk staff super friendly. Room was clean w/a microwave, super-sized mini fridge and ample toiletries for our quick stay. Hotel was booked to 95% capacity. You could hear people in the hallways, but could not hear others in your room. I rate this as a quite experience. Breakfast was a SURPRISE! Typical hotel breakfasts are so heavily carb laden that for us protein enthusiasts the choices were limited. NOT HERE...scrambled eggs, bacon, hard boiled egg option, yogurts. Make your own waffles, muffins, toast, bagels, etc. juice bar, coffee bar. YOU CANNOT GO HUNGRY HERE. The breakfast was served from 6-10, we did not arrive to breakfast until the 8 o'clock hour. All items were replenished and fresh. The kitchen breakfast staff was very friendly, walking around busing tables, greeting guests and asking if there was anything we needed. PLENTY OF VARIETY FOR THE KIDS & ADULTS. Very pleasantly pleased. We travel to Carbondale 3 times a year for sports events and will now stay here from now on. Only negative is parking is a little sparse but were able to find decent parking. For a one night stay I would have hoped to pay under $100 BUT YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. For peace of mind, cleanliness, safety of the area and customer service, well worth the $.
a diamond in the rough. I just wanted to do a little fishing and I also had a very restful night. The Pub and restaurant has been added since last time I was here. It is a wonderful relief for tired travelers.
I have stayed at the Best Western Saluki Inn many times in the last three years. The staff is friendly and warm and professional. The rooms are clean and well appointed. I would also add the breakfast is one of the best I have enjoyed. The internet is good and the hotel is in a good location. I will return again...
I checked in the hotel last night in the front desk employee rekia was so nice helpful she make you feel like you at home hotel lobby was clean room was clean i would come back this my favorite hotel also she wrote down all of the restaurant that was open who deliver she is wonderful
Super friendly helpful and Emily the manager is good at her job!!! I could have stay at some other hotel but I like The Best Western in Carbondale Illinois. Its close to shopping and the High-Way and lots of food places
The staff and facilities were very nice. Front desk staff was pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was good and we enjoyed the bar/lounge. The bartender was so much fun and friendly. She gave drink suggestions and information about upcoming events.
This hotel is near the SIU campus, shopping mall, and many restaurants. There is a bar & grill attached to the hotel called Manny's that was fun and food was good too! Our room was clean and comfortable. Complimentary breakfast was very good and fresh. I would definitely stay here again.
I had great experiences here & one mishap. I was able to handle it with the manager & was satisfied with the outcome. Since my last visit, they finished the attached bar/grill. A nice addition for travelers to unwind and grab a bite to eat. Still very clean, with friendly staff. Only dislike is the pillows.
Close to the park and also shopping. Great staff and delicious breakfast. We were allowed to bring our pet yet the place was so clean you would not have known pets had been in the building. The pool was slightly small, yet perfect for our beginner swimmer.
I made arrangements for my pet and Emily was very accommodating. She brought me a blanket for Skye to sleep on. Having the bar and grill attached was a plus. Leslie was a very personable bartender who took good care of us.
Everything was nice. Friendly staff, clean room and reasonable price. Breakfast was adequate as far as quantity but below average as far as quality. Coffee was very light and the omelette and the muffins lacked taste.
It had a good breakfast and the rooms were nice. Friendly staff. Had a family suite which fit us all very comfortably which is incredibly hard to do. And the rate even though we booked on site was incredibly reasonable.
Clean and secure for a reasonable price. Breakfast was ok. Saved me from having to run through a fast food place and spend $5. Walls, ceilings/floors must be a bit thin. Got noise from next door as well as room above us. There was a good sized indoor pool, an on-site bar, and a small workout room. If booking based on budget, would recommend. If booking based on amenities and extensive staff services, you may want to look else where.
Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Went out of way to help you. Nice lounge to have a drink. Breakfast had a good variety and hostess kept everything full and fresh. Room was clean and refrig, coffee maker and microwave
This property was a pleasant surprise. I read the TripAdvisor reviews and thought I would give this place a shot. My usual picks in Carbondale are the Holiday Inn and Hampton Inn and this hotel compares favorably with them at a price about 30% cheaper. Holiday Inn and Hampton Inn usually run $120 and this property runs in the $80s. Employees were genuine and friendly. Property was in good shape. The woman who handles the breakfast takes her job seriously and does a great job greeting and taking care of the guests. My only downsides are: (1) beds seem slightly smaller than other hotels, and (2) I'm not sure opening a video slots bar off the lobby will attract the clientele you want for a hotel. This was just launching when I stayed.
The people from the front desk to Bar staff were very kind. Not fake, genuine. New bar is not what you would expect in a Best Western. Mini casino, drink specials, kind bartender made our night .He was hilarious but also very professional. The hotels in this area are way below their standards and amenities.
I have stayed here here a couple times recently for quick business trips. The hotel is clean and comfortable. The location is convenient also. I try and be as "economical" as I can while I travel for business and this is a pretty good value for the area.
I stayed at the Best Western Suites in Carbondale for work and had an excellent experience. The rooms were very clean and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast had a rotating item every day to mix things up and I loved the strawberry cream cheese option for bagels. Cookies at the front desk and a hot chocolate bar at night were excellent touches. The staff was super friendly and the new bar was awesome and will only get better once they have their grand opening. Excellent overall experience and I'd highly recommend to anyone looking for a hotel in the area!
Had to stay in Carbondale for Business and always stay here. The friendliness of the staff and warm feeling I get when staying here is evident from the front desk to the very attentive breakfast person who always makes your day. The bed is super comfortable as well the hot shower with good pressure. I always stay here when I visit and will continue to
I requested a room in a quiet part of the building and received just that - clean and quiet. As I was getting ready for bed the sink backed up and some very gross material floated out of the drain. I let the desk know about this and was immediately assigned a room upgrade. All was well after that and I passed a quiet night. If housekeeping had noticed during the cleaning process that the drain was slow it might have saved me needing to switch rooms at 10p, but I can't say that for sure. The next morning, the maid disregarded the Do Not Disturb sign and walked in as I was getting out of the shower. As it was well before checkout time I found this very disturbing and mentioned it at the desk as I checked out in hopes that it would lead to better training. The breakfast was adequate and I had a great workout in the fitness room. My impression of this hotel is that it's generally well run and aside from a few hiccups I had a satisfactory stay.
Great service and nice female bartender! Will definitely come back...great drinks with fair prices I would recommend this place to all. Hotel rooms are very clean and housekeepers do a wonderful job..
My crew has been staying here for the past month and we are very impressed at the length that the staff goes to make us comfortable and Star in the bar is on top of it with our drinks and making sure we're happy at all times.
Great hotel. Super reservation service, outstanding front desk folks. Pet friendly. Clean, quiet. Housekeeping service was exceptional! Breakfast was delicious. Very family oriented. Close to shopping and restaurants.
You are in a good location. Need to spruce up and make more attractive. Brighten rooms and lobby. Good beds are essential. We also stayed at the Best Western in Sedalia Missouri and found this hotel to be great. It is an older hotel but well kept, smelled good, beds good and well run. It appeared to us that the update was in making a bar versus the rooms. Construction seemed incomplete with no one working on it. Gave a poor appearance.
Wonderful place to stay. Staff is friendly and helpful. Nice atmosphere at the bar. 5 star in my opinion. Fridge and microwave in every room, clean rooms and a nice breakfast. Nice televisions and plenty of channels. Have stayed in other hotels in the area and by far the best for the money.
Started staying here with our company it's a great hotel people are friendly and very nice rooms the bar is nice and never too busy. They will start serving food soon along with getting s mini casino and pool table. Would recommend this hotel to anyone!!
This is literally the best Best Western I've ever stayed in. They have a bar right at the entrance and there is plenty if seating. The rooms are exceptionally clean and there is a microwave and a fridge in each room. The best part is they accept CLC.
We went to attend a wedding and this hotel was very accommodating. Most of us were all on the same floor and grouped together. We were pleasantly surprised that they just opened up a bar at this hotel which stayed open for us to gather there after the wedding. The employees are all very nice and will help you with whatever you need. The room was comfortable, very clean and the beds were great. Wish I had one at home. I only wish the breakfast would last a little longer. When on a vacation we don't always get up that early and missed out on it. We will definitely stay here again.
Was very satisfied with the experience. We stayed at Saluki Inn for my daughter's wedding weekend. The staff was wonderful. Brittney especially was so welcoming and accommodating. The rooms were very clean and nice pool area and breakfast area.
Very pleased with the check-in procedure. Rooms were ready when we arrived. Very clean in appearance. The pool area was very nice. Breakfast was excellent - wide variety of items to choose from. Check-out was easy.
Overall a nice hotel. But I did think the increased rates for the weekend were a bit pricey. The Breakfast was good and fresh with decent options. Pool clean and well maintained. Room was clean and comfortable. Internet seemed a little slow but not terrible.
I have stayed here three times now. The rooms are clean, The beds are firm, The breakfast has good sausage and gravy, bacon and eggs, and and a wonderful mini waffle maker. Add to that the fact that the staff actually greets you when you come in and it's a great value. It's a little cheaper than most of the competition and you don't sacrifice.
I always try to stay here because the rooms are clean, it's close to our daughter and the price is usually good. Have always had a good stay here. The breakfast is pretty good too. Food places and shopping are nearby.
Very helpful and friendly staff! Hotel was clean, breakfast was good! One mattress was a little worn but I slept well. Hotel is only 2 miles from SIU campus, so very convenient. It was also next to the mall and across from places to eat
We stayed for a trip to SIU. The room was very clean. The price was great. The night staff at the front desk was also very helpful showing us a map of the area with great directions to the campus. The only drawback was the noise from the room above us. Whenever someone moved, their floor our ceiling creaked very loudly. We noticed that ours creaked a lot too. Having a room on the top floor would solve this problem!
Room could have been a lot cleaner. Thick dust along the base board and corners, two straight pins and two pills on the floor, a lick layer of dust in the air conditioner that water condensed on and gave the room a slight odor.
When I pulled into the parking lot I easily found open spaces to park. Upon entering the person at the front desk was helpful in finding me another available room due to the moisture issue from the AC unit. I felt confident in the hotel I was staying in and would continue to purchase rooms anytime I travel that way. I also love the way how the customer service is outstandingly helpful and resourceful. They gave me tips and places to go in the area for dinner, and they do a really great job keeping all of the amenities clean including the pool/hot tub. I would recommend this to anyone staying in the area.
We were there for the big Praise the Lard BBQ contest in Murphysboro. Everyone was so nice and helpful. The room was clean. The microwave worked well. The refrigerator was bigger than normal and clean. The breakfast free each day was hot and well made. The location was also nice. The pool was also clean and nicely clean. By a big shopping mall, Walmart and other area's of interest. The national and local papers were also a nice touch. We would get a room here again.
Because of the General manager we stay at this hotel !!!!!!The General manager Brittany Foster is amazing and made every stay there memorable even when we had to travel under duress this last trip due to a death in our family. Thanks to Brittany all went well and we hope you have the good fortune to stay at her Hotel !!!!!!!
This is our third stay at this hotel. The first time we stayed for 3 nights, the second time, 4 nights and this time only one night. The staff is always friendly and room is always clean. This time our shower was clogged, but I realize they are psychic and can't fix it if no one reports it. The breakfast is very good, however, they should offer water in addition to juice. The price is very reasonable for what you get and the location is good.
I can't say enough good about this place. I've stayed several times this year preparing my son for college and they always go above and beyond. The front desk staff has gotten me milk at 2am to help an upset stomach. The room is always clean. The staff is not only professional but friendly. Tonight I called with a special request for my next stay and John from the front desk physically went and checked the room to see if it met my needs. A few minutes later he called me back--he had checked with his manager and wanted to correct something he had said in error. This may not be the Ritz-Carlton, but it's an amazing place to stay in Carbondale and is my first choice.
I called the Best Western Saluki Inn in Illinois on December 3, 2015 to book a room for August 20-August 22, 2017. This is when there be a total eclipse and Steven wants to be there. I called this week to confirm the reservation and to update the expiration date on the credit card. The following day I got a call stating that I had to book the room for three nights and the rate has went up. I was quoted $84.99 per night plus tax on 12/3/15 and was also given a confirmation number. Now the rate is $402.99 per night. I understand that rates go up during big events, BUT I reserved my room before the rates went up and they will not honor my reservation now.
We had a very good experience recently. Our room was upgraded and that allowed us to have our friends in the room for conversation. The front desk people were always friendly and willing to help. We asked for restaurant recommendations and we're pleased with the suggestions. The breakfast area was always kept clean and coffee was available at any time. Would stay there again.
Definitely disappointed with this location as of today. Highly praised them in a previous review back in June, 2016. Since then I've stayed twice and booked two other reservations for future stays. In December 2015, I those multiple bookings over the phone with Gabby and one of those stays was for this upcoming SIU weekend. During my booking I asked to reserve for 2 nights. Due to recent family matters, I called this morning and spoke to Gabby to change my reservation for only 1 night. She said I couldn't change because it's a 2-night minimum. Being that the 2-night minimum was NEVER mentioned during my original booking, and that I've been a loyal customer to the hotel who was trying to use my reward credit this stay, I asked if anything could be done to edit the stay to one night. She was not helpful what so ever and I hung up to call customer service. During that call to customer service I learned that Gabby cancelled my reservation and they couldn't do anything about my reservation or the issue I had. I called back immediately and my reservation was reinstated, however was told to call back to speak to the General Manager, Brittany. Called back twice and both times she was “on the phone”, called back a third time and she left the building. Finally, after a half-day runaround, I got a call from a random Karen or Kathy that said Brittany said nothing could be done. Completely bad customer service and no wonder, they said management has changed since my June review! Brittany never took the time to call me back so I cancel this current reservation and all my future stays. I will not be back to this location! I'm sure an SIU family would have LOVED to book the one night I was trying to give up, but instead they rather lose a loyal customer and great review! Now I have NO hotel room and obviously the surrounding area is booked. Overall, I rather have no hotel then be force to stay 2-nights after being rudely treated. Just plain disrespectful!
Garbriela the office manager corrected a problem we had on check in very quickly and compassionately. Truly a great hospitality person. The rooms were comfortable, very clean and neat. The breakfast area was prepared with care by Lavada.
comfortable, quiet, the girls at front desk went above and beyond to help us- had car trouble and had to stay longer than originally thought- location was good, wish the beds were more firm; liked the indoor pool.
The Amtrak train station in Carbondale, IL, is easy to get to when staying at this hotel. We had to catch an early train. The complimentary breakfast is normally available starting at 6 a.m. They had our breakfast ready at 5:30 a.m. because they learned that we had to leave at 6 a.m. to get to the train station. Now, that's what I call service! The staff were very accommodating (we had special needs) and at check-in, I received a warm welcome.
This hotel is very close to SIU campus. Very close to shopping and restaurants. This hotel is very clean, the beds are comfortable. This hotel is going to be our home for the next four years. The staff is very friendly. The price is not bad either.
We stayed here for 4 nights, and everyone we came in contact with was helpful and friendly. Our room was nice and large and clean. The breakfast, although typical of a Best Western, had fresh fruit in a bowl, hot items, and many other choices. The breakfast area was kept clean and picked up throughout the breakfast times.
I had an early train to catch to Chicago from the Amtrak station located in Carbondale, so instead of getting up super early and driving over an hour from my town, I decided to stay in Carbondale the night before so I wouldn't have to get up so early. Upon arrival I was greeted by a very nice young lady. Checking in was a bit of a problem because the first room didn't have a refrigerator but beyond that everything was fine. The room was very clean and updated. The only thing I might recommend is staying on the top floor because you can hear other guests walking around in the room above you.
Great place close to SIU to stay for meetings or campus visits with a homey Saluki feeling. Nearby to many restaurants, mall, and shopping facilities. Quick access upon entering town from Marion/I-57.
THe room was great! The people were polite and helpful. When we arrived we were very tired. We had a 9 pound dog so expected a room that wasn't very nice. The room was really nice. Had room to put our luggage. Enough towels. Very nice.
It was a great stay and the receptionist was very courteous at check in and made sure that my team and I had everything we needed. The kids love the pool. Will stay here again and recommend others as well.
All was above a normal Best Western. I travel and stay at many Hilton's and Marriott and this hotel is just as nice if not nicer. Staff is excellent, rooms with leather couch and nice quality TV and all decor is updated and very comfortable, Had Fridge and microwave in room.
Room had so much hair everywhere. The extra roll of toilet paper was damp. Hard to get the room cool. Bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable. But for one night stay while we did the Shawnee wine trail, it was fine. Close to a really great vegetarian restaurant, Longbranch.
We stayed at the Best Western Saluki Inn with some friends for a "wine trail weekend" tour of the wineries surrounding this part of southern Illinois. Overall, the hotel was very inviting and the staff were super friendly. I'm a firefighter and we were offered a small discount which was very appreciated. The room was very nice and up to date with relatively new furnishings as well as a flat panel television, microwave and dorm size refrigerator. Upon entering the room, it smelled fresh and clean but some of the furnishings could have used a good dusting and a more thorough wiping on the surfaces of the nightstand, desk and other surfaces as we found a number of water rings where previous guests had placed and/or spilled beverages. We always travel with disinfectant wipes so the issue was easily remedied. The bathroom was very clean but again, the wash basin area could have used a bit more attention as I noticed some toothpaste splashes on the wall and backsplash. Again, wipes used and no problem. The beds were very soft and comfortable so we slept well each night. Simple breakfast choices such as scrambled eggs and biscuits and sausage gravy were offered every morning along with cereals, bagels, danishes, etc. Coffee, juice and lemonade were available all day. The hotel has a pool area that our friends made use of and enjoyed thoroughly but we were tired from a long day and chose to relax in our room in the evening. I'm sure that we would most likely choose the Best Western Saluki Inn for our next wine trail stay in southern Illinois.
Very good experience, nice hotel, nice room - will be my choice on next stay as well. I did have bad timing in that the pool was closed for maintenance the day that I would have liked to have used it. Otherwise I was very pleased.
Our room was comfortable and quiet, but we asked for and received a third-floor room. The room could have been cleaner, there was dirt and dust in the corners of the bathroom floor and Shelves. However the linens were clean. We stayed there two nights after the first night the cleaning service neglected to replace our towels and so we had to go down to the front desk to get fresh towels. They also didn't replenish the coffee supplies in the room. The breakfast area was clean and well stocked with a variety of breakfast items.
Service was excellent, people very helpful, we enjoyed the pool, good hours, the breakfasts were always very good, with eggs, bacon or sausage plus rolls or bread with waffles if we desired plus cereals were available, There was always juice and coffee availabe. We were very satisified both of the stays we had at the Saluki Inn in Carbondale, Illinois. Thanks, Tim, Melissa and Bruno Baumgartner
The attention Gabby and Brenda gave me improved an otherwise forgetable, average, slightly-worn out motel. Gabby promptly fixed the loose handle on the room door; Brenda, the night clerk, did a great job of quieting a noisy, rowdy group next door to us at midnight.
Very good hotel compared to the others that are offered in Carbondale. Staff is very nice, rooms are clean, serves a decent breakfast and is very centrally located. King beds seem to be more comfortable than the 2 bedroom rooms. Staff is so nice I don't even consider the other hotels any more when I visit Carbondale.
We didn't book a hotel until we were actually in Carbondale the day we wanted to stay overnight. The staff was very accommodating to us. We had a nice room at a reasonable price. We had a complimentary breakfast that was satisfying. It was a hot day when we arrived and they had lemonade and cookies available for us if we wanted it.
1st room - ice clogged refrig, had to move. 2nd room - neighbor had tv on til 3:45 am - no sleep that night. Called to complain at 3:00 am. I could hear phone ring in adjacent room, but no one answered. Mgr did offer a $20 credit for that night (off of an $80 room). Moved again next morning. 3rd room OK. Started to think I was on some hidden camera TV show. TV channel systems different from room to room with different remotes. Channel listing not always correct. Someone decided that a 1" high piece of granite would make a good threshold in the bathroom. Tripped over it several times. Still looking for that hidden camera. Couldn't get out of there fast enough the next morning!
This was a wonderful hotel stay. We were there for three nights while visiting our daughter who was at SIU. Staff was hospitable, breakfast was hot and plentiful. Would definitely return here again. Really enjoyed the heated indoor pool with my granddaughter
While the hotel was very clean which is typically the most important part for us, the AC unit was so obnoxious. It kicks on and off all day and all night. When it's not on the air is stagnant, but at least quiet. When it is on it's loud and kept us up most of the night. We stayed three nights and didn't sleep well any night. We were on the first floor and the walking above us was also very loud. The breakfast was very good (expect they don't serve water) and the hotel rate was great. The location is accessible to many things within walking distance. However, we've stayed at the Holiday Inn down the road and would have to say that is our preference. This was our second stay at this hotel. If they could redo the AC/Heating, this would be a first choice but not sleeping because of this is not okay.
Stayed here 2 nights while in town for business. Hotel & room was clean & quiet. It was a busy hotel right off on of the main highways and near a lot of restaurants and things to do. Bed was comfortable and room was very spacious. Would stay here again when in town.
Found this place on Hotwire for a reasonable price. It is a great 3 star place. It is not lush or fancy, but it had everything we needed. It was a few miles from the SIU campus, easy check in, free breakfast, comfy beds, free wifi, free parking, and had the amenities for a nights stay (blow dryer, shampoo, coffee maker in room, etc.). For a one or two nights stay, it was sufficient and the staff was very friendly. The hotel is close to their mall, and other chain names close by. Would definitely stay again.
check in process was typical, and were told that our room was just cleaned. Um, NO. We walked in and right away I noticed an uneaten orange, a half empty gallon of tea, a dirty fork, an open container of ranch dressing, a 40 oz cup from a gas station, and dirty shorts on the floor. Not what was expected at all. I do not recommend this hotel. VERY DISAPPOINTED.
We had a very good stay in Carbondale but I do regret the tininess of the breakfast area and the waste caused by plastic plates, cups, knifes and forks. The latter is a US problem which could be done without.
This hotel is a great option compared to what you get at the other nearby hotels at a much higher price. The staff is very friendly, the breakfast is as good as what you get at the much higher Hampton Inn down the road. The rooms are large with flat screen TV's, comfy King bed mattresses, and nice amenities. Very clean, good shower pressure, and nicely decorated for an older hotel. Only one nite was it noisy because I was directly under a room of construction workers who got off work at 3 AM in the morning. When I mentioned it to the staff, they moved me to a new room immediately. I would definitely stay here again.
Looking for a hotel while visiting our son, he suggested Best Western, as it's right in town and gets great reviews. Now I know why and I'm so glad he did. The staff is friendly and welcoming, the room was nice, clean, and the beds were excellent. Breakfast? It's not cuisine, but for the price (free) it was well prepared with many choices, and surprisingly good. Next visit we'll definitely stay there again. The price is excellent as well.
One night stay to take my daughter home from SIU. Great location to university, friendly staff, clean and comfortable room. Breakfast in the morning was acceptable; better than a fast food option. Will stay here again.
Much more than I expected. Very clean, modern and beautiful hotel. Staff very accomidating, variety of breakfast items daily, great bed and pillows and all around Excellent hotel. I would definately recommend to anyone staying in the Carbondale area.
We checked in during shift change, and it was seamless. Every attention to detail was covered. The ladies on the second shift knew there stuff! Super helpful getting cab services (unfortunately, no Uber). Bed was comfortable, and housekeeping was very attentive. Good location, a little tricky entering, but once you get onto it easy to navigate. Simple checkout.
This hotel was perfectly fine. The room was clean, the breakfast was adequate and it's conveniently located to both the college and shopping. Staff was also very friendly! Check-in and check-out were both easy.
Staff was friendly•Pool is indoor•Fitness room is open 24 hours•Room was clean & spacious for a single bed room•Bed was comfy•Bathroom was updated•Great location near the mall & lots of food•FREE breakfast w/good choices•Priced well, we booked for under $100•3/3-STARS!
I have stayed at the BW Saluki Inn many times over the last year while I am in Carbondale. The staff is always friendly and attentive. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The breakfast is top notch and the pool is amazing. I highly recommend this hotel.
Stayed here for 3 nights in March. The hotel was full almost every night. There was not too much noise but we were in the rear of the hotel which was very nice! Only 1 night the room above us was very noisy for about an hour very late at night. The pool was small but nice - however there is apparently a rule that anyone under 18 must have an adult present at all times to use it. Too bad the room manual says 13 - that should be updated immediately if the age is 18. I would have went down to avoid the embarrassment and upset my son suffered. He is a 3 time gold medal challenge winner. They made him leave immediately and did not ask nicely. Also, the double rooms only have FULL size beds. Very small for 2 good sized people to share. Stayed close to the edge all night. Shower very good size, nice showerhead. Room very good size & clean. Love the fridge and microwave. Breakfast was nice. Only 1 day the Orange Juice was very watery but was fixed immediately. Everything was hot and refilled constantly. Breakfast and hotel staff friendly. Would appreciate the kitchen help wearing a hairnet or wearing their hair back. The manager promised to address that with the staff. Overall a decent stay but I thought the room price was a little high.
We didn't have high expectations of this hotel. We usually stay in a little more luxury hotel, but there's not much to choose from in Carbondale! However, we were very pleased! Great service, clean rooms, comfy beds and nice shower. What more can you ask for? We also swam in the pool and had the whole thing to ourselves. My daughter loved it! We didn't eat the complimentary breakfast, but instead asked the front desk to recommend a good place. They sent us to a local favorite, Harbough's, and we loved it.
I spent the night here prior to an all day exam. Stayed in rm 224. Would recommend avoiding this room due to traffic noise. There were also AC issues. Every time the AC would kick on it would make such a loud noise that it woke my husband and I. I needed a good night's sleep but did not get it. Other than that the room was good and the front desk people were extremely nice. Breakfast buffet was acceptable. The AC was mentioned to staff at checkout. Hopefully this issue will be resolved.
Great rooms at a great price!!! Clean rooms, friendly staff, hot & delicious breakfast included, and centrally located!!! This hotel is close to Wal-Mart, University Mall, and most importantly The Pinch Penny Pub!!!
The staff was friendly and suggested a enjoyable place for dinner. They also gave great directions to the place. We even found a ice cream shop. The location of the hotel is within several chain restaurants and shopping malls. We were happy that the pool was in-doors, since the weather during our stay was cool.
My husband and I have been to this hotel twice while visiting my father. They upgraded our room both times and were unbelievably helpful. Very very clean, wonderfully comfortable blankets. The breakfast bar is AWESOME--Wafflemaker FTW
I wish hotels would accurately and honestly state the bed sizes in rooms. I was not overly impressed by the rooms and in particular the beds...they were small. Breakfast was a let down. We arrived with about 30 minutes remaining and many items were out of stock. When the gravy was replenished, it hadn't been heated up prior to being put in the crock pot and was cold.
Clean hotel, good breakfast, easy to get to, great staff! We would definitely stay at this hotel again. Food and shopping are close by as well. Highway access was easy for traveling around the town and to towns close by for the events we were attending.
Me and my parents and my dog stayed at this hotel for a couple day wine tasting trip. The lady at the front dest was so pleasant. the rooms were very clean and updated. The bed however was a bit hard, but overall experience was great.
First room was not cleaned. Second room had sheets that were so worn that it would have been best to skip the sheets. Seriously, the sheets need to be replaced. Location just off main thoroughfare is convenient and the university is a short drive. A few restaurants are conveniently located in the same plaza.
We enjoyed our stay. The staff were awesome and hepful in a lot of ways including our stay and knowledge of the surrounding area. The food was fresh, full of variety, and good. We felt safe and comfortable all around morning, noon, and nights.
I have stayed at this hotel numerous times but this visit was by far the worst. The door handle was broken on the entrance door to the room, the tub and bathroom had mold and the cleaning staff started cleaning the room prior to us leaving.
The room was clean and nice. Not a deluxe room by any means but comfortable and friendly staff. Very close to Giant City which you must visit. What a treat to take a walk early in the morning before departing.
Me and my girlfriend recently stayed at the establishment for one night and I very impressed with this hotel. The staff were very professional and courteous. Rooms were very updated and clean. They served a very good breakfast with plenty of hot choices. Would definitely stay here again!!!!
Not one complaint! Rooms were clean, service was great. Staff were very nice and helpful. great location. near lots of stores and restaurants. wifi was great. pool was nice. We had a large group staying, the staff was great to us, all 60 of us. Would recommend and would book a room there again.
service was great, staff was great and helpful. the rooms were clean and pleasant the girl at the desk was more than helpful ( Gabbie ) I would have my mother stay here the location was great also, everything you would need is very close
Carbondale does not seem know for quality places to stay. This place was a class act through in through, and we stayed 5 days. The internet billing came under a different motel name, so maybe there was a change of hands. We were quite pleased & will return on our next trip. They we significantly less costly than the Holiday Inn, but equally as nice as those I have stayed at.
The hotel is very conveniently located near many restaurants and shopping areas. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very clean and smoke free. If the facility had smoking rooms is was not noticeable.
This hotel was an excellent value. I was in town on business and needed a nice, clean hotel for one night. The hotel was very quiet and I was able to get a good night's rest. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The fitness center was very small, but contained treadmills in good working order. I would definitely stay here again.
I should've known this would be a disaster from the moment I booked. Was going to be in town for a wedding. Called months before hand to reserve a room in the block the wedding party had secured. Reserved 2 nights. Luckily, the wedding party double checked reservations because the girl who booked my reservation over the phone only reserved me a one night stay. I booked this hotel because my family and the wedding party was staying here. I have stayed at other, nicer hotels in this area before, but due to the discounted rate and pool, I booked here, several months in advance. Upon arrival, there was a sign that the pool was out of order. Since this was one of the main reasons I had booked here instead of elsewhere for a cheaper rate, I inquired as to what additional discount would be provided. The front desk clerk got the manager. He was very rude in addressing this issue. Would not provide any additional discount. His reason was because I should have known the pool was down for repairs since it was posted on the website about 2 weeks ago. However, the problem with this is that I booked about 2 months (over the phone) before our stay so obviously this information was not available for me at the time. He just kept repeating this over and over, "well it has been on our website for the past 2 weeks". Despite them looking up how far in advance my reservation was booked, he would not provide additional discount and spoke to me in a very rude manner. Also, stated that they would have the pool fixed by the following afternoon, however that did us nothing good as we had a wedding to prepare for and attend the following afternoon I thought room was clean until my sister screamed from the shower. I went to see if she was ok and she pointed out a pile of pubic hair on top of the shower head. I can only assume this was intentionally placed, whether by a previous guest or staff it really doesn't matter, what matters is that obviously they did not clean the shower or they would have caught this. Informed front desk and got no reaction, not even an apology and definitely not a discount. This is a first for me. I have stayed at MANY hotels in the past and whenever a guest is inconvenienced there is at least an apology. The hotel itself was located in a good location close to Wal-mart, mall, buffalo wild wings, Japanese steak house and many others. Few minute ride to SIU. Safe area. Typical hotel buffet breakfast. Complimentary newspaper and coffee/tea in lobby was nice. Can't comment on pool as I never got the opportunity to use it. Next time, I'm in town for a game or to visit family, I will stick with what I know--one of the Hampton Inns in Marion or Carbondale.
Great place to stay, very clean and quiet, nice breakfast...lots of extras. The staff is helfful and professional. I have stayed at this particular hotel several times and have been very well pleased each and every time.
Thus is one of the cleanest hotel we ever been to for the price we paid. We had good breakfast too with good variety. Easy access to highway. Staff was friendly. Would stay here again. Signed up for the membership program so hopefully we can get more points soon.
Had a wonderful stay overall. The staff was very friendly. The continental breakfast had a nice variety. Rooms were a little dusty but other than that were well stocked. Coffee was always available. The pool and exercise room were nice as well. My only concern was in the pool ceramic tiles were used. These were extremely slick when they became wet. It was very easy to slip even when walking slowly. Other than that, great place to stay!
I had a great experience at the Best Western in Carbondale. The staff was extremely friendly and the grounds, common areas and rooms were all clean. I think the hotel had great amenities including a pool, gym and breakfast bar. For the price, this is an excellent deal. The manager (A gentleman I forget his name) was extremely friendly. My family and I were there for a funeral and the kind faces and clean areas for us to visit were a plus.
Another opportunity to stay at my favorite chain of hotels, The Best Western. The experience was great overall. That includes, great service, clean surroundings, comfortable room and a great breakfast. Thank you!
the staff was rude before we even got there. they were harassing us about the card that we wanted to use as we were driving there which was over 2 hours. they had us stressed before we even got there. the fitness center was so tiny and had 3 pieces of equipment and only 2 were working and its not open 24 hours. the pillows were so small not standard size. we were given only 2 towels for a family of 5
I stayed here with my family and can't say enough about the attention to detail from the rooms, to the breakfast, to the staff. Best hotel for families in Carbondale. The pool is clean. And it is only 5 minutes from the campus.
I have stayed in this hotel on numerous occasions and the last two times it was not up to par. We brought our daughter back to school for second semester, and didn't notice the bed was broken until we actually got into it that evening. It was so uncomfortable due to it sinking in the middle, we had a poor night sleep. I told the front desk the next morning, and her excuse was that a young travel basketball team was there the weekend before and must have been jumping on the bed. I'm mad at myself for just taking the excuse and walking away. This was our go to hotel when traveling to SIU, but since the last two times were not the greatest experiences, I might have to stay at somewhere else next time.
Great place to stay, everything was very clean, the entire staff was very courteous, the Wi-Fi worked awesome, have a lot of channels to choose from on the tv, and the breakfast was great with lots of items, even bacon! It is located near a lot of food places and shopping centers and even a movie theatre. I will definitely be staying at the Best Western Saluki Inn the next time I visit Carbondale again!
Went on vacation to Carbondale, IL Sunday 1/24/16 to Tuesday 1/26/16. Best Western Saluki Inn was a nice hotel. Kind, friendly staff that greeted me. Hotel room all the way around was spotless clean felt like home away from home. Everything in the room worked excellent. Great and pleasant stay/visit. Would highly recommend it to anyone traveling through stopping by the Carbondale, IL area. It's a great hotel, price, friendly staff, excellent customer service. Breakfast buffet was great top notch selection of breakfast for anyone who likes breakfast. Upon leaving and checking out staff greeted me with good morning how am I doing. Then asked about my stay and wished me safe travels home. Brought my swimming trunks but didn't go swimming will next time though will make time during my visit to visit the swimming pool. Pool looked nice well maintained. Will for sure book my next visit when I'm heading to Carbondale, IL with Best Western Saluki Inn they earned a great first time customer and will be a repeat customer whenever I stop in Carbondale, IL. University Mall was nice to see and shop at the stores. Fat Bottom Betty's had a great pepperoni pizza. Qin Quan Restaurant was a excellent amazing Chinese buffet. Great food, great customer service, and fast service. Tequila's was a excellent amazing Mexican restaurant. Great food, great customer service, and fast service. O'Charley's had great food, great customer service, and fast service.
Very comfortable hotel. We checked in late and the front desk person was very nice and alert at that time of day. He even got our 2 rooms close together on the same floor. The breakfast was very good. They had a great assortment of hot and cold choices and everything was very fresh. I just wish the breakfast would last a little longer. When on a lesiure trip sometimes you don't get motivated that early. It was a great stay and would definetly reccommend staying here.
Very clean and friendly staff. The only problem I encountered was the tv remote did not control the the tv. They did offer to change my room but I was just too tired to pack my stuff to move. The front desk clerk was very nice and tried to reprogram the remote.
The staff was very friendly and the building was in very good condition. The only minor complaints I had was lighting in the room was a bit on the low end of my expectations and the walls in the bathroom were a little dirty. But again, these were minor things and overall I highly recommend this hotel, especially for its value.
The hotel was clean and the staff was pleasant. The bed was very comfortable and there were lots of towels. The location was ideal, as you the hotel is strategically located to several other places, such as restaurants, high way etc.
Visited Carbondale, Illinois for a Southern Illinois University Saluki basketball game and had a great experience. The Saluki Inn was very comfortable. Had a great meal at the Hunan Restaurant on West Main St. Saw an exciting Saluki come from behind win over Illinois State University
Hotel was very nice and lively!!! Inside Pool was great for the kids. Staff was very inviting, Room was clean and nice, I would stay here again for sure. Check out was easy. Pictures don't do justice for this hotel.
A spotless room, well appointed and comfortable. Our greeting upon arrival was warm and gave the impression that the staff cared that we were their guests. We had a few questions and also asked recommendations for local food. At no time did the staff treat us like we were interrupting their evening. All this while they were managing the checkin of a busload of high school basketball players. Upon early checkout, well before the morning free breakfast was ready, we were provided with a go-bag of snacks. We were very satisfied with this great property and will definitely return!
Clean. Friendly staff. Nicely updated. Good clean pool and workout area. Beds were a little hard, but room was nice. Close to Southern Illinois University. Far less money than Hampton, but almost comparable. For the money, a good place to stay.
Had to come from Clarksvill, Tn to relax before my State board and found this hotel to be close by and to have what I needed for a night before my big exam. The desk clerk was pleasant and the room was nice and very cofortable. I would visit them again. Thanks Best Western Saluki Inn!
Motel was very nice especially for the price which was lower than a couple others I was considering in the nearby area. The lobby area and breakfast area were good and kept very clean at all times. Our room and beds were very nice and everything was clean and very adequate. Good location. Will stay there again.
Used debit card for reservation, had $40 plus the total hotel bill taken out of checking account a day before I checked out. Hotel manager stated "thats the policy when you use a debit card, you should have used a charge card". Got $40 back same day..but not till the evening hours after I checked out around 11am. Also, no whirlpool in hotel when website stated it had one, and the pool was cold. Also heard doors opening/closing on/off all night.
Nice hotel, staff is friendly. Had one issue with one staff member but the FOM promptly took care of things and worked endlessly to fix it, which she did. I will be staying again my next trip to the area. conveniently located by major shopping and restaurant.
Staff was helpful, even when I called to ask questions before booking. The front desk personnel were fast and efficient at both checkin and checkout. They also took care of the breakfast area, which actually put them under some strain occasionally, but they handled well. The rooms were very clean. The cleaning lady one day started cleaning the room at 915, when I ran to the store. She offered to leave for a bit, but I let her go. She was still taking care of business when I had to leave. The pool area was nice, even if the water was a little cold when I got in at 715 am. Some of the paint was floating in the pool water tho. Sadly, two of the three mornings, I tried to get std waffle mix out of the machine and failed. Not sure if it was because it was after 9 both times. The chocolate chip waffle mix came out the second day OK tho. Suggestion tho... they need a sign to mark the entry on the Giant City road entrance. It is a shared road with another strip mall, but the hotel property is on one side. The entrance is hard to see at night, and practically impossible, even tho I knew where it was, to find the night it was raining and pitch black. If I were not being nit-picky, the over all stay was very good.
This hotel is clean, updated and functional as well as being close to everything a person would need in the Carbondale, IL area. I am making plans to stay here again and every time I visit the area. Although located in a college town, this hotel caters to families who can quietly enjoy their stay.
We stopped in Carbondale on our way from Springfield and St.Louis to Memphis because we wanted to see the IL garden of the gods. We picked it based on TA reviews and it was a good call. Nothing great our bad. Just a clean, decent hotel with good service. Very nice people. Really.
Chris was very helpful along with Manny. Will see you guys next year. Love it.... We have been staying here for last 10 plus years seen as Ramada / Carbondale inn and been best western for last few years. Improving every year. Chris always be happy.
Very nice and the 17th Street BBQ is a must in Marion Il. The rooms were wonderful, they were pet friendly and the staff treated you like you were family. The breakfast was outstanding, It is a little off the I-57 corridor, but it's definitely worth the 10 mile short trip west of Marion. If you like BBQ at all.. you have to visit the 17th Street BBQ in Marion. It has been on the Food channel with Guy Fior'e and lives up to the reputation. Everything about this hotel leads me to believe I will be back on my next trip east from Colorado.
The Saluki Inn was a real pleasant surprise on a ight when, once again rolling in late to a college town, just before a holiday, I needed a place mainly to lay my head, nd didn't want to take out a loan to do that. Located on the same strip east of downtown with a number of competitors ,but a touch closer. Maybe once an indie acquired by Best Western? Anyway the rooms are ample, the complimentary breakfast all you could ask for with the usual choices and then some (I stayed on two nights and noted the hot entrees were different on the two days). Room had a fridge! Pillows were real comfy. I slept like a rock, and that is not my normal, they either are doing something very right, or pumping sedatives into the bedding....:) Views...no, you don't stay on this strip for the views. And I am not sure they have a restaurant onsite. The bathroom was spartan. No charm but nothing broken or disgusting either, quite clean and functional. The room decor a cut above budget. Felt actually kind of nice. And a bigger TV than expected. Also a large number of convenient outlets and means for charging your electronic devices. Plus free wifi -- altho sometimes very slow. They have an indoor pool that is open until 11. Nt the biggest, maybe 30-35' long, but enough to do some laps and turns and loosen up the joints after hrs in a car, just what I wanted. Pool was not terribly warm but more than a polar plunge. Booked online and got room for less than $70. Would stay here every time if could do that regularly.
Me and my family visited Best Western Saluki on 11/13/15 to 11/14/15 to watch our nephew play basketball against SIU. The staff were terrific and the floors were super quiet. Our key didn't work and the staff replaced that immediately. We had an issue with our television, and that was fixed within the hour. We look forward to visiting Best Western again in the near future.
We were traveling with a small group and elected to stay here based on recommendations of friends. Glad we did. The rooms are very nice and super clean. The Desk Clerk Brittany was very pleasant and helped us with local recommendations. The breakfast is above average.
Heading down to SIU for a college visit, I was horrified by hotel reviews in the area. Although this hotel ranged about $20 more, it ranked high in reviews & my peace of mind & safety was most important. I'm currently writing this review from a comfy bed with super soft sheets that actually smell good! Checked in at 7pm & feel like I have this great place to myself! It's *super* quiet & clean, making me feel like I'm truly at home. I love the Saluki touch making me excited for our college visit tmmw. Didn't make it to the small pool, however it looked very clean. Wish there was a hot tub. Overall I'm highly pleased. I was able to use a discount that made my stay even cheaper. A complimentary breakfast before checking out is another bonus to this hotel. Great stay!
I have stayed many times at this motel on local business... quiet,,,indoor pool,,close to shopping banks ect. breakfast note this is a non smoking motel, parking for small trucks/trailers near SIU campus
I have stayed here multiple times the past two years. The hotel is always very clean and comfortable. Upon checking in, the attendant was very nice and provided me a coupon for food at the restaurant across the parking lot. The room was clean, and the internet was strong. Located only about 5 minutes from campus.
Great hotel, friendly staff. Room was very nice and clean. My wife left her ID in the room and the cleaning staff found it and the front desk mailed it to her. Great customer service. Would recommend this hotel in you are staying in the Carbondale, IL area. Only wish is they had a indoor hot tub :)
This Best Western is in a great location. Price was great. Restaurants, stores and coffee shops all close by. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Chocolate chip cookies in the evening are a nice perk. Would definitely stay here again when in the area.
We highly recommend this hotel, especially for its price compared to other hotels in area. Our king room was very roomy and comfortable. Everything is very well maintained. They have many electrical plug ins which is something we look for. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. They have an excellent breakfast - items are what you find in many places, but eggs and sausage items seemed better than most. Sausage gravy was definitely better than most - was very tasty with sausage actually part of gravy. Liked having a pumpkin spice option for waffles. One small negative was that internet was not very fast. We had our dog with us, and hotel is very pet friendly. One nice touch is that they have a saluki dog image on pet friendly rooms since they are located in a unitersity town that has the saluki as their mascot.
Upon arriving in our hotel room it smelled as if there was a dirty baby diaper or dead animal somewhere we were unable to locate the source during our stay. I also noticed pubic hair in the sink and on the shower wall upon my arrival. Also that night when I went to bed I found a fingernail clipping in my bed so my sheets were probably not clean. We did not report the problems as every time we went to the desk they were extremely busy with other guests. It is a shame we a had a poor experience as the staff was very nice and this could really be a nice hotel minus the filth and smell.
great staff, clean hotel with free breakfast, pool, and workout room. Every room has a fridge and microwave. Stay here every year for SIU-C Homecoming. great value for the money. My only negative is that I find the beds to be not so comfortable.
This is probably one of the best places to stay in Carbondale. It's clean, quite, and just enough distance from the downtown area to get away from all the bars The lobby is welcoming and all of the staff was pleasant. The beds and pillows where very comfortable, the rooms where very quiet. The hotel was pretty full due to it being a home coming weekend. They do have a nice small breakfast available. it's only a 3 story building so they have multiple access to get in around the building and only one elevator. Thanks for the nice stay.
Mattress excellent, clean room, okay breakfast, great service. Good location for where we were visiting. Amenities very good. Slept very well as beds were very comfortable. Was wary as price for room was very reasonable but very satisfied with room and location.
I always stay at this hotel when I visit my son at SIU. I look for clean rooms, a comfortable bed, a place to take a swim or do some exercise, courteous service and breakfast. This place has all I am looking for.
We stayed for 2 nights over the weekend. Picked it because of good nightly rate and great location (near SIU campus, Giant City national Park, convenient strip mall nearby) we were pleasantly surprised by what we received. The room was clean and spacious, equipped with microwave and fridge. Hot breakfast with fresh fruit, egg and great variety of healthy food. Good service from front desk to cleaning staff. Thank you BW for an enjoyable stay.
This was a great hotel for the price. We paid a little over $100 and it was far better than we expected! Comparable rooms we've stayed in have cost $150 - $200. The staff was very nice too. The beds were comfortable and the amenities looked pretty new.
Great Value Hotel. Clean Rooms, Friendly Staff, Pool just the right temperature! I've stayed at this hotel a number of times and the pool usually was too cold to swim. This stay I noticed management upgraded the pool area, and made sure the pool was heated so guests could swim. Also noticed some upgraded taste better items on the breakfast buffet. You make pumpkin or regular waffles, and much better muffin than in the past. The staff has always been pleasant and helpful. They always make me feel like I am at a 5 star hotel!
I was impressed by what I saw in the room. This place had more than I was expecting. All the amenities like frig, microwave, desk, hairdryer to name a few. The beds were comfortable and has a nice breakfast. The pool was closed for remodel at the time I was there.
We have stayed at the Best Western Saluki 3 times in the last 9 months. Staff has been helpful and pleasant every time. Breakfasts are tasty and hot! Would recommend this hotel. When we left the hotel last May I had to ask for many, many towels as we had left our car window open the night before . The passenger's side window had been left open and the seat was soaked!! The towels were given without question. The staff helped me dry the car and take 5 - 6 towels with me which I promised to return.
Staff was very friendly and helpful! Room was very large and clean. Nothing fancy, but we don't need much. Large fridge and microwave a plus. Breakfast was average, with some amazing muffins. Quiet except for noisy guests (not the hotel's fault that some people are inconsiderate). Added plus was being greeted with cookies when we would arrive back at the hotel in the evening. If we return to Carbondale we will definitely be staying there again.
This is the best value in Carbondale. The beds are very comfortable, but the hotel is showing it wear. The breakfast area is very busy in the mornings, but the staff tries to keep the food availalble. It is close to campus and the staff is friendly.
Very clean room, great breakfast selection, comfortable stay, desk help very good and considerate. If I were traveling there again, I would stay there again and would recommend it to others traveling in the area
Big fridge in the room, quality air conditioning system, decent breakfast, clean room, comfy beds, great location with proximity to shopping, SIU, restaurants, and a grocery store, nice staff. Internet reception was poor (at least in room 209). Will return.
GREAT PLACE TO STAY! Staff is always extremely friendly and helpful! We are frequent flyers as our son is now attending SIU. This is the only place I want to stay! Location is perfect and only minutes from campus!
