"Subpar hotel stay"

2
Barb W, Wisconsin 19/12/2022

Would not recommend this hotel. Breakfast items were not fresh and unable to eat them. Nobody is ever at front desk. Pool and hottub not warm enough. TV in room did not work. Patking lot was not plowed and dangerous to walk through. We are diamond members and this was the worst BW we have ever stsyed at.

"DO NOT RENT CONFERENCE ROOM!!"

1
Donna D, Almond 07/11/2022

I would like to talk to someone in charge of this place. Things have got to change. I do not want anyone to go thru the ordeal we had to put up with. For one thing they have NO contract when you reserve the conference room.

Dave P, General Manager at Best Western Plover-Stevens Point Hotel & Conference Ctr, responded to this review
Dear values guest , please advise what was the issue and how can we solve this for next time. Thank you Management

"Very nice hotel with friendly staff and ample amenities."

This is my "Go to" Hotel when I am traveling to this area. The hotel is very clean, quiet, tastefully decorated, and the staff go above and beyond. It is located near the Interstate and is close to restaurants and gas stations. I have never had any issues at this hotel!

"Do better"

1
Keiko96, Algonquin, Illinois 17/07/2022

Check in was supposed to be 3p. However they did not have any rooms ready. We got into the room after 5p. There is really no breakfast, pathetic actually. Very rude staff. However the room clean but for an actual sweet there was no real seating area. The pool was nice as was the hot tub but they were upset we tried going into the pool 5 minutes early. For a motorcycle rider they did not have an area that we could park.

Price increase of $200. from 2021 for three-night stay. No room service. Poor breakfast selections (hardly anything but cereal and bananas). Requested first floor room a year in advance and then two months prior, only to be told they gave it up the night before our scheduled arrival. We have a handicapped person who travels with us. To make matters worse, our room given, was on the top floor at the far end from the elevator. No room service during our three days stays. Enough said.

"Good customer service"

I accidentally left a dress in the room during my last stay. They located the dress and shipped it to me. I sent them a label but the label didn't work so they shipped it at their cost. Thank you Plover Best Western!

"Rude Staff"

1
sondrabigham, Boise, Idaho 31/05/2022

I stayed at this hotel for what was supposed to be 2 nights. Due to weather, I needed to check out a day early and they were uncompromising and stated that I had to give them 24 hours notice to check out early. How the heck was I supposed to know what the weather would be like?? I explained my situation and the staff stated there was nothing they could do. I later found out that the "staff" was actually the manager and lied to me when I asked for the manager. This location of BW is downgraded and should have a major overall. They were busy reading when I walked in and couldn't even greet me. The breakfast was a lunch bag. BAD BAD BAD.

Dave P, General Manager at Best Western Plover-Stevens Point Hotel & Conference Ctr, responded to this review
Dear Guest, we are sorry to hear about the experience you had staying with us. We do require 24 hours' notice for cancellation for most time but after speaking to staff you checked in late in night on a windy day with your flight being delayed and you did not mentioned anything during checking about cancelling your next day stay. The weather was bad for 2-3 days so you should have informed staff since it was evident that weather will be bad during your stay days. We take pride in maintaining the facility which is just 11 year old building. Front desk staff were doing his training and did greeted you as well like we do to all our valuable guest. We are sorry to know that we did not get enough notice even though you know and we have to charge for one night stay. We hope to serve you next time whenever you are in the area. Thank you for your time reviewing us. Best Regards Dave- GM

"Excellent hotel for the price"

User 27/05/2022

This hotel was super clean, from the bathrooms to the beds to the nice hot tub/pool, to the common areas. The rooms were well stocked and had all the little things we needed, and the bed and linens were very comfortable. It was nicely designed and well maintained and very affordable too. The hard-working staff were helpful and friendly. We would definitely recommend this one!

"Manager needs a life!"

1
akrozell, Rosendale, Wisconsin 28/03/2022

The hotel staff is very rude, We were there with a large group of multiple families. We gathered in the lobby of the hotel were there were multiple tables, chairs and a TV. Now, I do understand their concerns of noise and accommodating other guests, however, our first night there, we were the MAJORITY of the hotel guests. Maybe 2 or 3 other families were there, but we never saw anyone else. We were not too loud, we made sure to clean up any mess we made. We even went as far as to wipe down the counters and pick up any debris on the floors. We left by 10 pm, which was when quite hours started. This was not good enough for the manager. He made it very clear how annoyed he was with our group. He watched us on camera and continuously came over to make it clear he wanted us to leave. When you have 13 families paying $250+ staying at your very slow hotel, you would think they would be a little more appreciative of the business. They did offer us a conference room to gather in, but it was very cold, did not have a TV and he wanted to charge us $100 AND we would still have to leave by 10 pm. We did end up renting the conference room on our 2nd night, but only because we truly were not trying to cause problems and by that night there were more guests. It was still intimidating knowing that they were watching our every move on camera. I will say though, the hotel and rooms were spotless!

Dave P, General Manager at Best Western Plover-Stevens Point Hotel & Conference Ctr, responded to this review
Dear guest, thank you for reviewing us. After talking with staff looks like our common public areas were used by your group as bar and not any more public area. With no prior notice or information breakfast area was used as party place from 0.300 pm till 10.15 pm. That was so much inconvenient for other guest staying in hotel with no access in pool and common areas. Even morning breakfast time was used for second round of party in public place where other guest cant even freely access coffee and juice machine. Kids knocking windows randomly of other guest from parking lot- how can that be explained? We thrive ourselves for best customer service and cleanliness and will taking into consideration any genuine and unbiased review for improvement. Thanks

"Horrible Staff"

User 28/03/2022

The hotel is very clean and up to date, but the front desk staff is not friendly and very strict. If you want to stay in your room and not use the amenity's then your stay should be just fine, but the staff restricts social gatherings in the common spaces and sits and watches everything you do. Actually sits and hovers over you!!! NOT kid friendly, as the staff does not allow the kids to do anything. All around not a good experience.

"Dirty"

Foodlover8026, United States 13/02/2022

The pool was soooo dirty and pool area was falling apart. People wrote in the grime on the pool. It's dated May 2020. Walls were crumbling by windows. Rooms were clean. The breakfast bar was still not open. Bag breakfast only. Hotel is very dark colors and weird.

Dave P, General Manager at Best Western Plover-Stevens Point Hotel & Conference Ctr, responded to this review
Dear Guest, pl verify your identity so we can reach out and provide appropriate feedback. We are in middle of doing renovations in the pool and thank you for bringing that up. We expect to have the pool area in great shape by April or so. Our interiors and hallways have most modern color and design among others in the area. We unfortunately cant alter color and lightening as per your wish but we can contact you for any suggestion if needed be whenever and if we plan interior renovations. Thank you for taking time and reviewing us.

Enjoyed our stay. They let us check in early. It was quite. Room looked new. Nice tv! I would definitely recommend this hotel. The staff was great! Easy access to Stevens point. Thank you for the great stay!

"Friendly, clean and comfortable"

Highly recommend this hotel. Very friendly. Room, bed and pillows were more comfortable than a more expense/higher rated hotel I stayed at the following week. Very quiet. Nice "bag breakfast" ready to go in the morning; extremely generous.

"POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE"

1
User 02/11/2021

We booked this hotel as it was in descent proximity to the jobsite we were working. We advised an employee 24 hrs in advanced that we would not need the additional stay and would be checking out the next day. We are familiar with the rules as we have stayed at numerous Best Westerns for over 100+ nights during our first year... so I'm not understanding why we were still charged an additional night. We've been promised a call from the hotel manager since the day we checked out and the employee stated she couldn't change the check out date. This was on the Oct 21st. We've made several calls to the hotel since then and still have NOT spoken to the hotel manager, today is Nov. 2nd. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE TO SAY THE LEAST, mind you this hotel was completely empty. I'm baffled at the way they treat loyal customers and there was NOTHING customer service could do to override the hotel managers decision.

Dave P, General Manager at Best Western Plover-Stevens Point Hotel & Conference Center, responded to this review
Dear guest, we are sorry we cannot accommodate your request to refund last night stay just because of no notice. we need 24 hour notice to cancel one night stay. Also we are sorry to hear that your criteria for selecting hotel is to look at # of vehicles in lot and not how clean the hotel is, amenities and customer service. Good luck.

"A safe staff over during Covid"

5
Ky_G0lfer, Versailles, Kentucky 03/10/2021

We stayed in second-floor king suite. The room was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The owner, though short on staff, worked tirelessly even through the night to keep things right for his guests. In lieu of a hot breakfast, staff shortage again, he provided each guest exact breakfast which was really very good. It had a Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwich, a yogurt, a banana, A granola bar, and a piece of pastry. It was really very good! I feel like we need to roll with the times and be more tolerant during these Covid periods. I gave this hotel five stars because he satisfied our most precious need being that of a safe and clean environment to spend the night. I would not hesitate to stay here again during Covid, but I would love to come back at the end of Covid and take advantage of all their amenities because I'm sure they are wonderful.

"Modern and very clean!"

5
picassosocks, Lakeville, Minnesota 16/08/2021

The hotel looks very standard from the freeway, but we found it to be extremely nice inside. Our room was immaculate and everything was updated. The breakfast was great and the location ended up being really convenient for visiting relatives in a nearby town. It's a little bit pricey, but I felt totally safe being there with kids and observed other families too. I would certainly recommend this hotel.

Nice hotel. Very clean. People were friendly and professional. Would stay here again. Nice location. Easy to get to all the places that we needed to go. Only thing I would have liked was for the coffee machine to be on longer than just breakfast time.

"Love this hotel!"

This hotel is very clean, and the owners/staff are very friendly and accommodating. We look forward to staying at The Best Western in Plover every time we travel up north.the rooms are very nice, very clean. The temperature of the pool and hot tub are perfect, and the pool area is very nice and always clean. While we miss the full breakfast spread, the grab n go breakfast bags are very hearty, with a nice variety. This will always be our “go to” hotel when traveling.

This place was amazing! The service was incredible. Everything was very clean and accommodating. The heated pool and hot tub. Area was the best part. Everything was super clean and every time we entered the owner was right behind us with clean fresh towels. I do a lot of traveling and this was hands down one of the most comfortable places I've ever stayed. The linens looked like they were brand new. I'd be a complete fool to not recommended this place! Thank you Best Western of plover Wi. For making our weekend an experience to remember!

"Amazing!!!"

User 21/02/2021

We got stuck in a snow storm and had to make a last minute stop for the night and I'm so glad we chose to stay here. It was quiet, peaceful and clean! I even forgot a charging block for my phone and the man at the front desk gave me one to use, I couldn't recommend staying here more!!!

"Good Price, Lousy Stay"

2
MLHoner, La Valle, Wisconsin 21/02/2021

We stayed here as we were snowmobiling through. The price of $75/night and the location on the snowmobile trail was what led us to book this hotel. It is basically all it has going for it besides a decent pool area (with a very slippery deck). There is nothing in the area except a Kwik Trip and another hotel. The restaurants all appear to have gone out of business. The room is nice enough and the bed is comfortable aside from using 4 tiny, uncomfortable pillows on a king sized bed. However, the walls are paper thin. I listened to neighbors on both sides cough and talk all night long. Our room faced the highway so there was that noise as well. I would advise asking for a room on the backside. Overall, this was the worst night of sleep I've ever had in a hotel. After eating Kwik Trip for dinner, there was not any sort of breakfast provided. Our son is planning to attend UW- Stevens Point next year and after we checked in, we thought this would be a nice, cheap place to stay while visiting him. Not any longer..I'll pay the extra money to stay elsewhere.

Dave P, General Manager at Best Western Plover-Stevens Point Hotel & Conference Center, responded to this review
Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your feedback from your stay. We appreciate your kind words for our pool and room. However, we are saddened to hear your comments restaurants, noise and breakfast. We truly are sorry that we could not meet your expectations. We always have options for getting food from the area which could have been asked at front desk and same goes with some light talking noise from neighbor, a call to front desk could had helped. Regarding Breakfast, we can only provide breakfast bags or very limited items for self service, which was advised during check in time. We are providing all items as per brand standard. Although there is restaurant that serves hot breakfast across the street that open very early in am in case needed be. We hope you giving us another chance and returning to our hotel in the future. Thank you

latanabear2015, Plover, Wisconsin 14/02/2021

The suite was okay for the price. The website stated that it included a full breakfast (it didn't). I understand not having everybody eat down in ten eating area with covid and all- but then the breakfast should have been taken off the website. We were super disappointed. Staff were awkward and made a comment about no “Hankey pankey” after 10 pm... Like we're adults though? Yeah. It was weird. Probably won't be returning

Dave P, General Manager at Best Western Plover-Stevens Point Hotel & Conference Center, responded to this review
Dear Guest, First and foremost thank you guest for taking the time to provide feedback. We would like to express our apologies that you had some negative experience staying at Best Western, Plover. Kindly be advised that we are working with front desk staff and we will make sure its behind us. Regarding Breakfast, we can only provide breakfast bags or very limited items for self service. We opted to go with breakfast bags taking into consideration the current scenario. We are providing all items as per brand standard. Also if you visit brand website it does clearly indicate- Modified breakfast service and selection. Our hotel aims to provide a truly unique experience, and we are again sorry that we were not able to exceed your expectations. We look forward to welcoming you back to our hotel in the future to see the changes and giving us chance to change the view of our hotel. Thank you

"Clean!"

User 08/12/2020

Stayed here for over 3 months and the staff were constantly cleaning-something! The owners took over in July and are putting a lot of effort into bringing the place up to the standards it is supposed to operate at. They were reasonable to work with and fun to be around.

"Unprofessional and Unfriendly Hotel Manager"

1
Keith J, Dodge 18/08/2020

It was a very poor experience. Items did not work properly in my room (and not addressed) and it was quite noisy at times during quiet hours. I was most disappointed, though, with the hotel manager. He was confrontational, unfriendly and unprofessional. He didn't attempt to address any of my concerns, instead making accusations of me. To say the least, it was a REALLY, REALLY poor experience and extremely disappointing. I would have left but I was too far along in my stay (and would have lost the money invested in the room stay).

Best Western, General Manager at Best Western Plover-Stevens Point Hotel & Conference Center, responded to this review
Thank you for reviewing us. We value your feedback, based on the review we will certainly take a look and will improve our self to make it pleasant stay for other trip advisors guest. Firstly a fair review would be appreciated which can give proper reflection to other guest looking at this property. Secondly a refund was demanded for something inappropriate but it was honored (refund was given) which is clearly not mentioned to show other side of story. Also instead of checking out on day one, the stay was extended at this property. This clearly indicates the real story behind the stay.

"If this is the norm, makes me wonder"

User 11/07/2020

1st off, the location, not too great, kinda outside of Plover. Not that Plover is this huge metropolis to begin with, but is still easy to get to and has a gas station across the street and restaurant as well. When we checked in, the guy opened the holder that holds the return keys for contactless turning in of the keys. He rummaged around for our keys, and could only find the holder so he finally "charged" the room keys. Isn't there a turn around time on re-renting a room during this Covid pandemic? That aside, the lobby would be nice, if you can see it, as most if not all the lights were off. Maybe with less people coming lately, trying to cut costs? The room appeared to be cleaned, though it did have a musty smell to it. It as updated, and had a spot in the bathroom floor, not sure what that was. Other than that and a couple hairs on the bathroom floor, the room was clean. Pool area, the lights were off there, and it was not a heated pool. Was refreshing, and the hot tub was nice temp. It took a while for the jets to kick in. Not sure if they were remodeling when Covid broke out, but need of some updates there, or at least finish what it looks like to be tiling to give it a updated feel. The hot tub may need maintenance as it seemed to take a while for it to start working. There was no lock on the entry to the pool area. (so it is not secure, anyone could walk in) The beds were very comfortable, and the pillows had substance to it. Tv selection was good. Breakfast, no show. It does advertise that you do have one in the morning from 6-9 but yeah, was dark and a ghost town. Nothing there. Even on the hand out for the wifi, states breakfast. Could be because of Covid, or again trying to cut costs. I don't know. When I tried to check out to get a receipt, states to ick up the phone, no one answered so i out my keys back in that bucket. I did get a receipt emailed to me though. So this review is a mixed bag really. Some pluses and some minus. Is Covid to blame? I dont know. Overall, I would stay there again.

"Not Well Maintained and Terribly located"

2
eepartri, Minneapolis, Minnesota 18/03/2020

I stayed at this hotel while traveling for business. It is probably my fault that I didn't realize how remotely located it was but it's sometimes hard to tell that when you are planning a trip to an area you've never been. They had the best rate in the area where I was to be working so I booked it. When I got to my room, it smelled like someone had just got done in the bathroom (if you know what I mean) but I tried to ignore the smell. The room was decent but very low lighting. I had been able to get a king bed with a Jacuzzi tub and had been looking forward to relaxing after my work day. When I turned the jets on, one of the heads came flying out and made all the other jets go down in pressure. I tried to put the head back in, but it was sufficiently broken. When I left the next morning and returned for my second night, the jet head was still laying in the tub indicating that they neither cleaned it nor bothered to get someone in to repair it. The sheets were partially undone and the pillows I slept in the night before were still in the position I had left them. When I went into the bathroom, the same smell remained, and the hand towel I had used the night before had not been replaced and they had taken the wash cloth I had used the night before but didn't give me a replacement one. The TV remote also only worked at certain moments and from certain places in the room and if you moved the TV the picture would break up for a few moments. Over all I really wished that I had booked a different room and now understand why they had the best rate, because they are the lowest quality.

"Hotel decent, Pool is Ice Bath and Service sub-par"

2
User 12/03/2020

The hotel itself looks decent, recent remodel I assume. We added an extra night at check in to use the pool longer since the kids were really looking forward to it. At checkin, Dan I am assuming is his name, was really nice and helpful. We went out to eat supper, came back and rushed to the pool only to find out the pool was extremely cold. Another couple that was staying and was part of the hockey team we were on also said it was freezing and she went to desk and they said that the pool was 76 degrees....nice. is all he said. No not nice, freezing. So we spent a few minutes in the hot tub, my daughter couldn't go in the pool or hot tub, my son tried his hardest to enjoy the pool but was quickly disappointed. I got an email from the front desk with the invoice, i decided I was going to ask about the pool as well. No response, he responded via email with my question on the bill but not addressing the pool. So I went to front desk in the morning since we were going to be gone until 3PM at a hockey tournament. The lady at front desk said they are not able to turn it up any higher than it was set at. That night sure enough it was still freezing, we went bowling and mini golfing instead. Then we needed a plunger in our room as toilet was plugged. Called down and he said he would be up. hour later, nothing so we went and found out no one was in the building working so we opened up the housekeeping room and got it ourselves. Come to find out the building is unsecure at night, anyone can come in without a key card, no one is there over night. This is ridiculous. Complete waste of our money. I gave 2 stars only for the looks of the hotel, but they can be deceiving.

walstib, Shullsburg, Wisconsin 09/03/2020

Have to start out that the room was very clean!! When we got there we got charged for the room that's suppose to have the jacuzzi in it, but we didn't get that room. The guy at the desk was not very pleasant when asked about it, so we just said Fine! We stayed for 2 nights and never had hot water, shower was luke warm! We don't like to leave bad reviews, but we weren't happy with this place.

"Customer Service Is Horrible"

User 08/03/2020

March 6 @ 9:00 pm I had a booked reservation for my Family. My fiancé could not make it due to her illness and it was booked under her name. I asked the counter guy can I still use the reservation because I had the card registered to the account. The guy tell me No he cannot help me, my fiancé has to be there or I can't have a room. Soo I had my fiancé call him to verify and he started to yell at her over the phone about polices. And then turns around to yell at me about polices. So then I stopped him to ask if she can cancel the reservation can I just book the open room and the counter guys says no I'm all booked up! Needless to say I walked out!!! Never again Like how are you booked if a room is cancelled. I went to 2 other hotels to find a room the first place stated that they were full but was friendly and told me Best Western has a bad Rep! And the second place had a room no questions asked and Was told BEST WESTERN HAS A BAD Rep! Save your money go elsewhere

In town for a seminar, this was a good choice, for easy to get to, well appointed room, free breakfast, everything I would like to have in a hotel. Quick check-in/check-out, clean and comfortable. Breakfast very basic, but had all the choices needed, fresh and clean

The Double Queen Mini Suite was great for our family. Separate room with a pull out sofa bed gave us a nice amount of additional space. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel very clean. Breakfast options were great. Pool was a good size, a little chilly, but the kids swam!

Stayed thru the Christmas holiday. Clean and neat and modern. TV with several premium channels along with usual fare. Good breakfast choices. Nice pool area. No one at the desk but they are just a phone call (and a half minute) away. Very Reasonable price for the stay!

We are a family of 5, and we stayed at this hotel while in town visiting for the Thanksgiving holiday. The room we had was PERFECT, with two queens in one room for the kiddos and smaller suite with a king for us. The rooms were nice, clean, and had everything we needed. Room service did a great job every day, too. The pool was clean and very nicely kept (it worked out great for burning off some small person holiday energy!), and the provided breakfast changed daily and had a great selection. The staff was super friendly and accommodating, and that goes for everybody we ran into from the desk to the housecleaning staff. We were very pleasantly surprised at what we got for this great price point and would definitely stay again, no question.

We had a room for two nights, the first night the people above us were very noisy all night. The next night I asked to switch to a new room and the staff there were so friendly and understanding they gave me another room at no charge.

Price was a little high for a Best Western on a Thursday night. The breakfast was not good. Coffee was bad, hard boiled eggs were over cooked, scrambled eggs were mushy and their was not meat for protein except the sausage in gravy.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Room was very clean. Pool looked clean, but we didn't use it. We were very happy with our short stay there. It was a last minute change of plans to stop for the night and we were pleasantly surprised by the rate.

i booked this hotel months an advance and told them when reserving the hotel that i need an early check in since i was driving 4 hours to get the hotel and that the ceremony was in the afternoon the person on the phone told me that i can check in at noon. Fast forward to day of the wedding the staff told me i couldnt check in until 3pm which is normal but what i dont get is when i ask the rep at the counter if i can get ready at a different room from the wedding party they tell me that i need to pay for that room if i want to enter there even after i have the groom on the phone telling both them and I that it was ok to go in there room and get ready for their wedding the rep tells us no that we need to pay. so when i tell them i want to cancel they tell me to call customer service when i do that customer service tells me that they have no access to the books of reservations so the customer service rep calls the location they tell them that i never called to cancel. How am i supposed to call the hotel when i was in the lobby on the phone with them. Thank God! i was able to get to the Americaninn down the street to get ready and let me stay there. Best Western do your self a favor and hire Derek from Americaninn to manage your Plover WI location and save yourself anymore issue.

Excellent customer service. Nice, clean rooms. Excellent hot tub and pool. The only thing that keeps me from giving this more stars is the walls are extremely thin and you can hear everything. Ask for an upstairs room to elevate that noise.

We were in town for a special event at the convention center and arrived about 90 min before check-in. However, they wanted to charge an extra fee to check in early. I've never had this happen before. On principle, I wasn't going to pay it so I asked the front desk staff to recommend something that we could do in the area to kill time while we waited. I wasn't expecting concierge service, but I was surprised that neither of the employees had a single viable suggestion. (One recommended a park, but it was pouring rain. I mean...come on.) On top of that, the hot tub was out of order during our entire stay. After a really long drive and long day, we were sore and tired and looking forward to the hot tub. Nope. Furthermore, the walls were paper thin. We could hear every little sound from the hallway and the rooms on either side. The other guests weren't being obnoxious but it was still annoying having to listen to every single cough, door opening, child crying, etc. Icing on the cake? When I went to check out, they had me listed in the wrong room. (I was in 210, but their records showed that as being registered to some guy I'd never heard of.) I just hope that whatever room they linked my credit card to didn't run up a huge bill. This was a nice property, but my experience was definitely sub-par. I wouldn't stay here again.

Our hotel room smelt like old smoke. Our bathroom had hair from previous guests on the toilet and in the shower. It was not an enjoyable stay. We checked out before breakfast was even served and no one was even at the front desk. We waited 5 minutes then just left the keys and went on our way.

Dan was a top-notch guy to work with for our meeting and we enjoyed our time very much. One couple from our group checked in and found their room was occupied. Dan personally showed them to a room that was better.

Typical value hotel as far as amenities. Clean and comfortable and quiet. Probably above average in clean. NO USB port so only 3.5 stars. Easy on and off highway. Large new gas station across street for necessities.

I stayed here twice over a 7 day period. On my first visit, I wanted to use the men's restroom at the south entrance but when I entered, there was vomit all over the floor and stall area. I returned to the same hotel 4 days later for 2 more nights and when I left, the vomit in the men's restroom was still not cleaned up. Yuck.

cleanliness was a 4.5 Breakfast was below BW standards in my opinion as there was no meat selection. The attendant was efficeint though. The side entrance to the building and the entrance to the room hallway have doors with signs saying key required to open. Some locations only activate the lock at night though. At about 9 pm I had to go out and the doors were not locked. I went up front and spoke with a manager-not clerk- and was told they do not lock the doors. This is a very poor policy ! I travel with my own security but not locking a side door is still a bad policy.

"Power went out and no water in big storm"

3
User 08/08/2019

The room was very clean, and the hot breakfast Saturday morning was very good. Later Saturday, there was a storm with fierce winds measured in Plover at 86.3 mph with very heavy rainfall. We were watching out the windows (see photo) when we noticed water spitting through the frame of the closed windows. We grabbed a towel. Soon it was pooling up on the window sill and pouring onto the floor. Five bath towels and the bath mat were no equal to the amount of water coming in. The rooms next to us also had water coming through. The hotel staff were very nice and gave us more towels. The power went out around 10:15 AM Saturday morning. The hallways were dimly lit with emergency lighting. After an hour or so, the hallways were black dark as the emergency lighting batteries died. The hotel manager did his best to try to keep people safe and taken care of. His cleaning crew worked to clean and prepare rooms using flashlights. They are to be commended for their hard work in a difficult and challenging situation. The manager tried to keep people, especially children, from standing under the hotel entrance, where roof tiles were falling down (see photo). Having no power meant no air conditioning, the room's mini-fridge no longer worked and our food spoiled. No ice in the ice machines. None of the vending machines worked. The microwave didn't work. No lights, no internet, no room phone, no TV to see what they were saying about warnings or storm news. The hotel has its own well for water. With no power, the water pump stopped, so we had no water. No water meant no showers, no water for drinking, hand washing or brushing teeth, and no toilet flushing. The manager brought buckets and opened the swimming pool so people could get water for toilet flushing. The hotel manager went out and bought something like 24 battery operated lights at Walmart and hung them up at the hotel entrance, in the hallways, and gave them to people for their rooms if they had no flashlights. I offered 1,000 watts of power to him from my Prius if he had a critical need for power (for his office computer, for example, since his backup battery died after one hour), but he declined my offer. The next morning (Sunday) there was no hot breakfast because the power was still out. No cold breakfast either, because the milk and yogurt the hotel normally serves had spoiled. The hotel has no emergency backup generator, and the manager said, "No hotel has one." It took several days to restore power. Our hotel manager was very gracious and concerned for the guests. But he seemed to not know what to do in some situations. I suggested he rent a generator to run at least the hotel's water well, so people could have water. He told me last winter the power also failed. On Tuesday afternoon (four days without power), he got a rental generator to power the pump as well as the hotel (see photo). I asked for a refund for the time we had no power or water. He replied, "I can't do that. The storm is beyond my control." Which is true. But with no power or water, there were no services. Fortunately, after filing a request with our credit card company, we were given a refund for the portion of our stay without services.

The hotel is located right off of I-39 near Plover, WI. Room prices are very reasonable. I found all areas to be very clean and up to date. The complimentary breakfast was hot and plentiful. Personally I missed having a breakfast meat, but those are personal choices. The hotel is a little on it's own. I looked for dinner options and was told everything was about 5 miles down the road. Certainly not a hardship, but not within walking distance. I would stay again if in the area.

This is the 2nd year I have stayed here for a car show in the area. Upon checking in once again I ofund the outside very neat and orderly and the inside was nice clean and inviting. The rooms are clean and it is convienelty located near a sports bar and family restuarant. The front desk attendant also advised us of some more causal dining just 1.4 miles down the road that had several micro breweries and everything from Asian to barbque. They have a good breakfast in the lobby too if you have time to enjoy a cup in the morning. Nice clean Kwik Trip accross the street to. I was tipped off on this place by a friend who also goes to the same event I do. I will book this place for a 3rd year now! I shouldn't even be writing about this place as it will be more competion for me!

Got to hotel and was told their system was down so they were just giving out rooms on a first come/first served. My room as given away leaving me with no room I ended up sleeping in the back seat of my car in a parking lot order to be available for the Ski Competition scheduled for the next morning. I was still charged $170 for a room I never got. Have filed a complaint and a reversal of the charges.

Dan, the manager, is always kind and accommodating. He and his staff always make sure the hotel has clean rooms, lobby and breakfast area. The lady at breakfast is very friendly and always makes sure everything is stocked and clean. They even have green tea (which I can't always find in other hotels). Scrambled eggs, waffles, oatmeal, danish, muffins as well as fresh fruit. This hotel is located near restaurants and gas station. Nice indoor pool. This is where I always stay when in Stevens Point area.

Manager is extremely rude and unwilling to work with anyone. He refused to cancel one night of my reservation even though I was with in the company policy. Had to get corporate involved to get my money back. There is nowhere that he allows groups to hang out and visit. We were there with our soccer team and the parents were not allowed to sit in the breakfast area you're also not allowed to bring food or drinks in the pool area. No tables or spaces to sit in the pool area.

The breakfast is amazing. The rooms were very clean and the indoor pool and hot tub were a really nice amenity. The location is very convenient to nearby destinations. If we had more time (we went for a family wedding) we definitely would've made more use of the pool and the fitness center. Has definitely made me a fan of Best Western

"Cheap operating hotel by owner/manager"

User 27/04/2019

@BestWestern Plover WI, dissatisfied stay. Indoor heated pool is set @ 79F, requested temp increase and told by owner that it's state regulations. I researched and delivered regulation ATCP 76. States the pool temp 72F - 95F. Owner refused to increase temp. Called BW Customer Care 800 528-1238. Case # assigned. BWCC called me back and attempted to contact owner. I was told that the owner/manager doesn't come in until 3, nothing more can be done at this time. Also told to try again with owner to see if he will raise pool temp. Will attempt one more time. Reservation is for 4 nights. Can't use pool with young grandchildren. Owners of hotels that advertise indoor heated pools that refuse to have pool temperatures that allow guest to enjoy the use to me is false advertisement. This hotel was chosen because of a previous stay where previous mgt. increased pool temp upon request. Not the same under current owner/manager. Update: owner/manager refused to increase temp. I stated I would never stay here ever again and his response was fine he didn't care. I called BWCC line and gave her my claim# and after she placed me on hold to review the claim her response was the owner responded by email & there is nothing that can be done to remedy the situation. I stated will be posting this everywhere possible, thus here is one of many to come locations. The towels are subpar quality and the complimentary breakfast was par at best. Read a similar post where this owner/manager responded stating the guest was wrong to have complained. After two nights staying here left to go to another hotel in the area. Much Much happier. Best Western response to customer care is unacceptable and I hope that reviews like these wake up the failing management of their operations otherwise hopefully other consumers will avoid staying at their hotels. I know it will be a long time before I ever book with Best Western.

We needed to come to Plover for a funeral, and we came in Easter Sunday. Very quite area and the hotel was nice looking from the outside. Lobby was nice and uncluttered. With modern touches in the furniture and wall treatments. The room was very clean with modern accessories and very tasteful furniture. The gentleman that helped us was very polite.

"Shady/Unprofessional Management/Owners"

User 14/04/2019

A couple weeks ago, my boyfriend called Best Western Plover-Stevens Point directly to see if he could get a better rate talking to them directly before booking online. The manager/owner who answered the phone would not tell my boyfriend the rate unless he gave him his credit card number. Once he gave the manager/owner his credit card number, the man stated "okay, you're all booked" without even telling my boyfriend the price. When he did tell him the price, the rate he gave was approximately $20 to $30 more per night than the Best Western website. Needless to say, he booked online rather than directly with Best Western Plover-Stevens Point. We checked in this last Friday night without issue. We used to live in the area and came for the weekend to visit family. The room appeared clean as did the common areas of the hotel, but there was some remodeling going on and the lighting in the hotel was not good. We went to check out the pool and hot tub and the pool was too cold for us to even use it. The temperature for the hot tub was okay, but the floor and sides were textured so rough that it hurt our feet and rear ends. Saturday morning, we again went to use the hot tub. There was a family in the pool area with a young boy (approximately ten years old). The boy jumped off the edge into the pool--he did not take a running start, he did not dive, and he did not make a big splash. The boy was just really showing his mom he could jump into the water. He was also the only person in the pool. The manager/owner immediately came into the pool area and scolded the boy for jumping. He really was not being obnoxious or unsafe. Saturday evening, my boyfriend's brother and parents came to the hotel to spend time with us and hangout in the hot tub--as they do every time we stay at a hotel in the Plover/Stevens Point area. Prior to his parents arriving, we went down to the hot tub with beverages in plastic cups/mugs with lids. The manager/owner stopped us before entering the pool area and told us we could not bring beverages in there. I thought "okay, no big deal," but there was no sign stating we couldn't. There was a sign stating no glass and another stating no beverages in the pool, but nothing about the pool area. In fact, there were small tables in the pool area to presumably be used to set beverages. When my boyfriend's parents arrived, his dad was stopped by the manager/owner at the entrance to the pool area. His dad explained why they were there and the manager/owner asked for our room number (I thought to verify that we were guests). We thought everything was taken care of as the manager/owner didn't say anything more to us. When we got our bill of what the hotel charged us this morning, the manager/owner had added on $20 for my boyfriend's parents coming to use the hot tub with us for a total of 15 to 20 minutes. We attempted to address the charge with the manager/owner as well as a second manager/owner. They were very rude, they raised their voices at us, and interrupted us. We tried explaining our frustration was with the fact we were not made aware of the charge. If we had been advised of the charge when his parents arrived, we could have opted not to go in the hot tub. The managers/owners refused to work with us to resolve the issue and walked out from behind the desk and out of the lobby while we were trying to resolve the issue. They refused to reverse the charge we were not made aware of and several times, they stated "we don't need your business." I did call Dispatch to see if law enforcement could be of assistance, but, unfortunately, they said it is a civil matter. My boyfriend is a Diamond member for Best Western Rewards. He has never had an experience where the staff/managers/owners were this shady. Sorry for the lengthy review, but I feel this business is run by shady, unprofessional individuals and is not an accurate representation for Best Western as a whole. I plan to attempt to contact Best Western Corporate as I don't think these are the people they want representing them.

Best W, Manager at Best Western Plover-Stevens Point Hotel & Conference Center, responded to this review
Jessica F, Your review is totally unfair and it doesn't represent our business, service and qualities we offer. First of all you should be thankful to hotel that you brought bunch of people in Pool without paying or letting us know. it is basically liabilities for business in the event of they get hurt, or in the situation where they drowned in pool or fire it becomes liability for us we typically not allowed any guest that are not staying in hotel in Pool or public areas where they enjoyed accompanying you and used pool we charged $20 extra for their pool use if they were to book another room/night they could enjoy full benefits of using our hotel, when we first caught your group entering in pool area, your boyfriend agreed to pay and then next day during checkout both of you didn't want to pay for extra people. it was very rude and unprofessional that you threw things on frontdesk we could have call police to handle your behaviour but we didn't. Thanks Manager, BW Plover

We brought in a group with around 15 rooms this weekend. There were no complaints from any of those that stayed in our group. The breakfast is standard, blah. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. As we were a large group, the manager (Dan) did ask us numerous times to he considerate of others staying by not being too loud. We decided as a group of ~ 40 people to use the attached, but separated banquet facility for a charge both Friday and Saturday evenings. It turned out great for our group as we used the bar area to watch sports and the banquet area to eat. They do need to address the access issues to the hotel. The remote entrances should be locked and accessed via a key card. We will recommend that other groups in our organization use this hotel for future stays.

I checked in to the hotel on Thursday evening and things went fine, but took a little bit of time finding my reservation. Wasn't super worried. Last night I got my bill/receipt under my door the charges were different than when I prepaid. I tried to talk to the hotel and they were not helpful. I'm worried about getting charged twice, and no one was willing to help me they told me to call the company I booked with (which was from their website). I would be cautious when paying ahead with them.

"Poor value"

User 01/04/2019

Our room had one King size bed while there was room for another King size but there was only a single chair instead. The value was poor for the provided facility. Our room was very noisy as everything in the hallway and adjoining rooms could be heard. It sounded like people in the room above us were riding horses when they walked around their room.

"Beware if you have group reservation - they won't let you cancel/No refund"

1
kimmymacbu, Western Wisc. 01/03/2019

I was supposed to go to annual conference that I have been to before a couple times at this hotel. The rooms were okay. But this time a major snowstorm was hitting WI, so my colleague and I called on Friday afternoon to cancel our Saturday reservation. We called before 4pm, only to be told that because it was a group reservation, we would get no refund. First we heard of this policy. Some members of our group were smart and called the 800 number and got a refund, but we didn't hear of this till too late. Not even half off, or a coupon for a free stay at another hotel, just sorry, you don't get you $100+ bucks back. They have lost my business for ever, and our group better find a new hotel for our annual conference, because a bunch of us will never set foot in that place again. The storm was so bad, it resulted in the 114 car pile up on the Interstate, and the hotel itself lost power, so guests woke up to cold rooms and no breakfast. Not my type of “hospitality.”

"I cannot even imagine what they're thinking"

1
JRBaski, Madison, Wisconsin 28/02/2019

I stayed at this hotel for three nights while I attended an event in their conference space earlier this month. This is the third time I'd attended this yearly event. The past two years had been lovely, but this time? I can't even. It's hard to know where to begin. It started with the driveway. We'd had a snowstorm a day or two before, but the snow was all just packed down instead of being properly plowed. Even the walkways were snow covered, and a member of our group tried to use a shovel that was laying outside to clear it, but the shovel was broken (and what kind of business doesn't procure a new shovel and CLEAR WALKWAYS themselves immediately?). These were just the first of the safety hazards. A facilitator of the event mentioned that when they arrived at the conference center it was very cold. There was speculation that the heat had been turned off to save money. That evening, a galvanized pipe burst (likely because it had frozen), rendering the lobby of the conference center very stinky, very wet, and very unable to be used. The next day there were pools of water emerging from a utility room. Tons of towels were put out to sop up these messes and remained, forgotten, for at least a day after the leaks had been resolved, just laying on the ground in an unsightly fashion. Such a tripping hazard. A plumber was called to deal with the second watery mess, but management strangely did not have them fix the out of order public bathroom stall (one out of only two public bathroom stalls) in the conference center. That stall was out of order the ENTIRE time we were there. Talking with other attendees I found out that stall had been out of order since they'd last been to the hotel in the Autumn. Yes, it had been out of order for MONTHS. Did I mention there were 30 women using this single stall in their public facilities? Can you imagine that? Also, the paper towel dispenser was broken, but I can handle that as long as there's a roll of paper towel hangin' out nearby. Speaking of broken, the sensor on the security door between the conference center lobby and the rooms was broken and hanging loose from the wall, leaving the formerly always locked door always open. In previous years you needed your room key card to access the rooms, but as it stood earlier this month, there was no extra security. Anyone could walk in any time of day or night. And while we're on the subject of locks: conference center door does not. The knob does technically lock, but the door will not latch. So if you plan to use this space, do not leave anything of value in it. This was discovered on the third night of the event, after two other nights of having left hundreds of thousands of dollars of machinery unguarded in the room that we were told was secure. Lastly on the conference center issues: water. This area has a lot of nitrates in the ground water due to potato farming. So much so that officials recommend that babies drink bottled water. Well, if it isn't good for a baby, it's probably not great for the rest of us, either. There is a hotel provided water cooler in the conference room and in past years the old owners/management would come change the bottle when it ran out; they would take the seal off the bottle and plop it on the dispenser. The first time we requested more water this year we heard noise in the next room and discovered they were FILLING IT UP FROM THE TAP. The second time we requested more water the manager (in a very rude fashion) told us to get it ourselves. Yes, he suggested we fill up a giant water bottle from their locked utility room (how do we get in??) and then hoist it up on their dispenser. There is so much wrong in representing the water as bottled and so many logistical and liability issues with telling us to do it ourselves. The room itself was just fine and clean, except for the smoke detector hanging off of the wall. Its light was still lit, though, so I felt pretty sure it was still working. After the past very positive experiences I've had at this establishment, this stay was quite the bummer. I'm still pretty appalled that anyone thinks this is a cool way to run a business. The funniest part of all of this was the signs everywhere suggesting people review them on Trip Advisor. So, here we are. :P

"Not Family Friendly"

1
User 23/02/2019

We had a small family gathering, renting 4 rooms. Booking and check-in/out of our room was pleasant. Management was very helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast, as expected was the usual continental breakfast and was warm. No complaints for the above. Now the cons of staying here. The pool...cold. The hot tub...cool, barely warm. We were told that was the normal temps. The kids were playing in the pool and were scolded several times for splashing by management. I could possibly see other guests complaining if they were getting wet but our kids were the only people in the entire pool area. The men played cribbage in the breakfast sitting area and were continually being told by management to quiet down. Again I could understand if they were obnoxious or it was after the 10 PM quiet time but it was early in the evening and they were just talking in a normal tone.

The front desk employee, Stephanie, was very polite and professional. She helped me check-in in a timely manner. My suite was very clean. I could walk around without socks on and wouldn't have to worry about dirt (LBVS). The king bed was the best! Sheets are comfortably soft. The bathroom was clean and there were towels for days; since we had the whirlpool!! (Great addition to the room).

"Nice, comfortable hotel on the edge of town"

Adventure44214290992, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 14/11/2018

This Best Western is well-kept, nice facilities, and nice if not fairly basic rooms. There isn't much to walk to or anything, but they have a nice area for breakfast and a good fitness room. It's a quiet area and the rates are generally quite good. Definitely a good place to stay when traveling in the Stevens Point/Plover area - especially because there's nothing to the south for about 70 miles!

"Quality Hotel, Nice Staff, Need Improved Housekeeping"

4
Julie B, Kenosha, Wisconsin 30/10/2018

Staff was very friendly at check-in and throughout the stay. My room was quite large, a pleasant surprise for an affordable room. The breakfast buffet included hot entries, always a plus. My only concern was little things in my room that showed that housekeeping had clearly rushed through my room. There was a wrapper on the floor next to each garbage can showing housekeeping had spilled when emptying and hadn't bothered (or noticed) to pick up. I also found a used towel hanging on the back of the bathroom door. Given that I was staying there alone, it clearly wasn't mine. I mentioned this to the front desk and they were nice and apologetic. They took my concern seriously. Overall, very nice hotel. They just need to have a conversation with one housekeeper. I had friends stay at the hotel and their rooms were very clean and nice, so I think my experience was an anomaly.

"Great Stay"

5
QueenOfSlack, Waterloo, Wisconsin 26/10/2018

My friends and I needed a comfortable place to stay after walking a half marathon in the area. I had booked the Best Western because I have had good luck with them in the past. This Best Western was even better than I expected. The beds were very comfortable and the decor was very nice. After walking almost 7 miles in the cold weather it was nice to be able to hop in to the hot tub to relax. Breakfast in the morning was a typical hotel continental breakfast - which is all we expected. Staff was great too. Definitely will stay again the next time I'm up there for an event.

My daughter and I stayed here for a soccer tournament. The staff is very friendly and professional. The rooms are clean and the hotel has everything you need to make your stay comfortable, free Wifi, parking, breakfast and nice pool area at a reasonable price. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

"Nice overnight for travelers"

4
slampe, Auburn, Indiana 02/10/2018

A great overnight place for the weary traveler. A friendly staff with plenty of suggestions for dining and things to do in the area. Breakfast was average, but the coffee was great! We did hear people in the hallway talking, but it was minimal and there was some creaking subflooring. Not a big deal.

"Great Location for Meetings!"

5
JodiBur, Madison WI 01/10/2018

We use this facility for regular & special meetings. The staff is very responsive to our needs & friendly, too! I highly recommend you check this hotel out for meetings & events. It is clean, easy to get to & the amenities are great!

"Quiet, decent...nothing to it"

3
Joseph E, Flat Rock, Michigan 12/09/2018

Its snack dab in the middle of nowhere...but for my drive to Wautoma, it offers cheap prices for an overnight, the convenience of a great night sleep..but doesnt off a whole lot as far as a restaurant! Just the gas station across the street...quick service and friendly staff!!

"Owner/Manager heartless"

1
User 11/09/2018

Manager/Owner humiliated me in front of my guest both days I rented the conference room. He expected me to vacuum a few crumbs off the conference floor ( thought this was included in what I paid for) after I had gotten the ok/clear from the night staff, harassed my guests and requested more money for services I didn't use. Manager/ Owner promised my guests could swim for a $10.00 fee which is one of the main reasons I booked the conference room, the day of the event he opt not to have that service for me to use. He is not a nice man and I will ask anyone wanting to rent a room to use caution. I have never been so humiliated in my life. Please for the love of anyone go next door to Super 8 very friendly and willing to go the extra mile.

"Fast service in a pinch"

5
rpic, milwaukee, wi 07/09/2018

I had a room booked at a competitor down the road and when I went to check in I found they did not uphold their end of the booking so I called the Best Western and I believe I spoke to the owner and asked about my specific request and he was VERY accommodating and took care of me right away!! The room was very clean and quiet. I would defiantly recommend this hotel and will stay here again when in the area.

"Amazing!"

The hotel was very clean, the staff was very friendly, the breakfast was really good, and I loved the room!! I got one with a jacuzzi and overall the room was so comfortable. I definitely recommend for anyone having to stop for the night or who wants to stay in the area a couple days!

"Somewhere between average and very good"

3
Thomas M, Appleton, Wisconsin, United States 22/08/2018

I usually stay in the hotels on or near Plover Rd. when staying in plover but decided to check out the Best Western for a change. Nice clean room with a nice bathroom with seating in the shower. Comfy bed and very good wi-fi. There just isn't much within a half mile or so. I like O'so and the Bamboo restaurant but they are a little bit of a drive. Why does the breakfast more times than not have to involve a sausage gravy on biscuits? The eggs and coffee were ok though. A little noisy staying near the entrance and the fire alarm went off at about 6:20 am. I'll go back to staying on Plover Rd.

"Grreat Value"

User 19/08/2018

If you need a property in near Plover, Wi this is a great value. It is clean with very helpful staff and owner present. It is a short drive also from Stevens Point though not "walking distance" to these cities.

"Terrible Experience for Family Reunion"

Grneyed102, Elk River 12/08/2018

We had 7 rooms and there is a list as long as your arm as to all the problems we encountered at this venue. Each of us had numerous problems that were not resolved in a timely manner. As a Rewards Member (as are 2 others in the group), we are well aware of the other Best Western facilities that we stay at. Of the 7 rooms, 6 of us travel for work and are well aware of how hotels accommodate their guests. This was not one of them, including the Manager arguing that some of what happened was

"Well run motel"

5
User 09/08/2018

This motel is one of the better ones I've stayed in. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The manager that was there was attentive. They have the typical hot breakfast offerings as other hotels. There's a truck stop across the street but there didn't seem to be much more going on in the immediate area.

"Exceeded Our Expectations!"

5
User 08/08/2018

This place is a Best Western, not a Marriott. Once you rightsize you expectations this is a great place. Our experience, Cleanliness of room 92/100, Cleanliness of pool/hot tub 95/100, Cleanliness of common areas 98/100. Breakfast (remember this is included) included the standards like waffles, oatmeal, cereal and a small variety of breads to toast. Going the extra mile was scrambled eggs every day, alternating bacon and sausage or biscuits and gravy. They did a decent job keeping up with the refilling of breakfast items, but there were a couple of times they ran out of staples before the end of the scheduled breakfast time. 90/100 Service: The people behind the desk were very aware and ready to help. We needed a wine bottle opener, and the staff person offered me his own personal tool. I always felt like the staff was aware without my having to let them know of a need. 97/100 Noise Level While we were there (7 days/6 nights) the attached convention center was used several times. Many of the participants stayed in the hotel the night before. We were never bothered by noise on the second floor. 100/100. Since the reason we stayed there is one that will happen for us at least two more years, I hope we get to stay hear at least two more times.

"Simply the BEST Western!"

5
Michele G, Green Bay, Wisconsin 05/08/2018

We stayed here for a weekend getaway and were so very well treated. The room was very clean and there were NO problems at all. The breakfast was delicious and the young lady who was managing the breakfast area was polite and pleasant. Dan, the manager treated us like we were the only guests in the hotel. We did not use the pool area, but we did check it out (because I like to know about these things) and it appeared to be clean and plenty of towels were available. This hotel looked to be newly renovated, so I asked Dan if that was so. He said that it was renovated about three years prior. They take excellent care of this building! We will definitely return and will highly recommend this hotel to others. Thank you Dan for the wonderful experience!

"Nice decor, freezing cold pool"

4
Kristin H, Oswego, United States 19/07/2018

Friendly staff, fresh new decor. Comfortable beds and rooms were nice. Breakfast was just ok, but glad to have some hot options. Pool was ice cold which made it hard to enjoy as much since we were traveling with kids. Hot tub was nice. Good value and location for the area.

"Please stop yelling at me"

1
knopegore, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin 06/07/2018

I stayed here with my daughter in March 2018. I book this room through outside company. We arrived around 9pm after 3 hour drive. Room appeared clean initially but I found some trash, a dirty sink and previous guest's clothes hanging in closet. Really no big deal and did not want to make an issue so late at night. The hotel was very busy with a competition at UWSP. I mentioned the state of room at check out and showed pics I had taken and was told I would be given a 10% discount, which I was not. I found later I was charged twice for the room. I disputed the charge with my CC company then on next billing cycle found I was charged again. Calling the hotel someone named Peter Patel verbally berated me stating he had already given my a refund and was not going to do it again and that I owed him money. When I told him the state of room he yelled "Why didn't you just check out?!" He told me he had refunded my money any attempt I made to ask about the second charge he interrupted me, was confrontational and escalated the situation. He then hung up on me. This is not customer service. Because of this I cannot recommend anyone going there

This was a nice Best Western hotel that was maintained very well. Everything in my room was either new or in excellent working order. The breakfast was a hot breakfast of eggs, sausage and bacon. They also had a waffle machine and hot and warm cereal. I would give it a 5 star but there are not many restaurants adjacent to the property.

I stay at this hotel a couple times a year for work. Most of the time my experience is great but this morning I woke up with bed bug bites! The hotel is refusing to reimburse me. I won't be returning.

Eva F, Front Office Manager at Best Western Plover Hotel & Conference Center, responded to this review
We are sorry to hear that you recently had an adverse reaction which caused you to think our hotel had bed bugs. However, an inspection by an independent and professional pest control service found no evidence of bed bugs in our rooms. The result of their inspection has been emailed to the address you provided when registering your room. Since no evidence of bed bugs was found to support your claim, we are unable to offer you any form of refund or compensation at this time.

"Rooms clean & neat - but...night desk staff had attitude"

2
ddeolson, Whitewater, Wisconsin 04/12/2017

King size bed was comfortable, room was clean and neat. Night desk staff had poor customer service skills, and even worse attitude towards guests requesting to watch football game. TV monitor was not loud, neither were those that came to watch. It was not late (around 8-9pm I believe) that we were snidely threatened with a $10 noise violation charge for each of those in attendance. Do not recall where such a charge was ever disclosed...or if it even exists, except in his mind! Needless to say, it is highly unlikely that the 20+ rooms will be booked there again...not worth it.

Eva F, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western Plover Hotel & Conference Center, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to write a response. I am sorry to hear about your experience with the front desk staff. It is their job to maintain a clean, calm, and welcoming environment for all guests. Unfortunately, there were several issues with the group being unable to handle intoxication in a public setting, and he was trying to maintain a neutral environment with all guests, while getting many complaints about the loud group watching the game in the public area. Although the situation may not have been handled in the smoothest manner, it was in an attempt to keep all guests respectful and happy. We appreciate the group booking with us, and hope that when your annual conference hotel rotation comes to Plover, you choose us again. Thank you, Eva

"Nice, reasonable hotel"

Kathy N, Plain, Wisconsin 02/12/2017

Hotel was easy to access, interior was modern & clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was fairly small, but clean and nicely decorated. Breakfast had nice variety and was hot. There was a warning posted about the water, but a water cooler was available in the lobby. Hot tub wasn't super hot, but it was clean. Pool looked nice, but I didn't swim.

"drinking water issue."

3
W125BBfrankb, Waukesha, United States 30/11/2017

Hotel was about average. I was not notified at by clerk at check in about their water issue. There was only a small sign in the bathroom telling about high nitrate warning. This sign was blocked by the hair dryer.

Eva F, Public Relations Manager at Best Western Plover Hotel & Conference Center, responded to this review
Thank you for taking the time to rate our hotel. We are sorry to hear that the posted warnings about possible nitrate levels in our water were not easier to see. We hope you were informed that we offer free bottled water to any of our guests that do not feel comfortable drinking the tap water.

"peace and quiet in Plover"

russell3898, Denver, Colorado 25/09/2017

In town for a wedding, most of our family stayed in Madison at the Baymont or Country Inn. We wanted a little distance, and chose the BW in Plover. At first a little disappointed that there wasn't much surrounding the hotel. Quickly got over that...the staff was just terrific, as was our room (clean and very comfortable and spacious) and the pool/spa was great too. The continental breakfast was just fine. We tend to be noise sensitive, and so our 2nd floor room was perfect for us. Its one of the quietest hotels we've stayed and we would stay there again! Thanks staff!

"Surprised"

3
Jan T, Oconomowoc, Wisconsin 02/08/2017

Our room was adequate, but I was very surprised that the beds weren't made and the room wasn't vacuumed the second day we were here (There were a lot of apologies when we checked out due to this.) The bathroom was clean and had plenty of fresh towels. When I asked if the fire alarm in our room was suppose to blink all night, I was told the sensor probably needed to be replaced. Due to high nitrates in the water, we requested bottled water after seeing the sign in the bathroom. Any time we requested more, it was given quickly. The breakfast was just okay, and the hot items left a bit to be desired. When asked if the coffee was made with tap or bottled water, the man said he didn't know. The next employee said it was made with filtered tap water.

"A Delightful Stay"

4
Lynn P, Spokane, United States 01/08/2017

We visited this Best Western in Plover to attend a wedding. It was very convenient to the highway, the wedding venue, and shops/restauurants. The room had a whirpool tub which was very clean, and the bathroom/shower was as well. Our second floor room was nice and quiet. The bed was comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We did not stay around the hotel long enough to enjoy the pool or exercise room. We would stay here again.

"Don't drink the water!"

3
Lionel P, Palm Springs, California 31/07/2017

This place is ok but you can't drink the tap water as it has high levels of nitrates, they do offer complementary bottled water. Our room was ok but they did not completely refresh our room. The bed was only partly made (pillows were not fluffed or moved) which is odd. Nice new towels which is a plus for me. Overall not a bad stay just needs a little attention.

"Best Western Plover very good except for door slamming"

5
ronaldhG6678IZ, Wisconsin, United States 30/07/2017

Paulette helped get us a quiet room. Thank you. Breakfast was pretty good, but could use some cream cheese for toast or waffles. Overall rooms were very clean and staff and owner were very very nice. I still give them an excellent review because they really try hard to do a good job there. We will be back, but the door slamming is not always there fault. Customers also have to be nice and quiet too! Thank you. Maybe they will get door stops next time.

"Quiet Comfortable Rooms"

"Comfortable, well-maintained"

4
John P, Rhinelander, Wisconsin 19/07/2017

Comfortable well-maintained hotel with adequate lighting and reliable internet. Pool and spa were not chlorinated and temp was perfect, a big plus. Breakfast was exceptional with TWO breakfast meats and accomodating past 9 am cutoff. Frig did not have freezer compartment and sinks at some BW's such as this do not have drain plugs. At little pricey in summer season but reasonable off-season.

"Disappointed from previous stays"

3
John N, Aurora, United States 10/07/2017

Have come here in the last 4 years with friends for the annual car show, held in these parts of this state for three day stays.Always have had good experiences. This year however the hot tub and pool were very sub par as far as cleanliness goes. This is probably the number one amenity that our group enjoys, and were disgusted that we decided it was not inviting or maybe unhealthy to go into. The staff were pleasant, the breakfast was fine, and the rest of the hotel met our needs as in the past. Was disappointed however that no apology or compensation of some type was even mentioned. Left this year very unhappy for paying for something that was not the same as in the past.

Great beds, very good breakfast choices. TV looked very new and worked perfectly, as did the internet. The room and bathroom were very clean and neat. The power went out at my apartment, and this was a great refuge for the night.

Hotel was nice. Room was a nice size. Had a little odd smell. Sofa was jacked up didn't even want to sit on it. Breakfast was good but syrup was out and took awhile to get it refilled. Overall they did well considering having 25 plus 8 yr old boys playing baseball and the family's staying.

Eva F, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western Plover Hotel & Conference Center, responded to this review
Paul C, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I am glad to hear you enjoyed your stay, though I am concerned about what you mean by the sofa being "jacked up." Did you express your concern to the front desk staff? We always want to solve a problem while a guest is here. I am sorry to hear the syrup took a bit to get refilled, we hope you will stay with us again to give us the opportunity to provide you with the best experience possible. Thank you, Eva

No problems at all - checking in and out was a breeze and the agent was helpful and nice. Room was recently redone with new carpet, etc and that was nice. Good location. we did not eat breakfast and that area looked very busy. We were with people who knew the area so we just went to another restaurant nearby. No complaints about our stay.

We made a trip for gymnastics and stayed at Best Western Plover. We had a great experience, and would recommend this hotel to anyone needing a place to stay in the Stevens Point area. Easy access, Kwik Trip and a couple other restaurants next door, quiet, clean, great staff.

"Great stay ruined by one person!"

allifromWI, West Bend, Wisconsin 09/04/2017

Our stay was pretty good. Beautiful, clean, fairly new hotel. Very nice, helpful staff in the evening. The pool area was little small & dark, the breakfast was the usual hotel breakfast, but, honestly, before check out time, that would have been the only thing I could nitpick to find something wrong. I probably would have given this hotel a 4 or 5. However, when we went to check out, we mentioned that the toilet in our room had become difficult to flush overnight and when my husband used it right before leaving, the handle broke off (cheap plastic handle - the toilet still flushed, but he handle would need to be replaced). When we reported this to the girl at check out, she got real snippy & said something like "well, why didn't you tell us? We would have had you switch rooms so we could fix it." I told her it wasn't that bad until this morning when we were getting ready to leave and I wouldn't have wanted to switch rooms at 2a.m. when the (then very mild) problem was discovered. She said something else snippy & said nothing else to us. No "I'm sorry you had that problem" or "Thanks for staying with us." Very disappointing because the rest of the stay was pretty good!

Eva F, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western Plover Hotel & Conference Center, responded to this review
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. I am glad to hear you liked most of your stay, and I am sorry to hear that your check out was not up to satisfaction. I apologize for coming off snippy, as that was far from my intentions. I was inquiring if you had let anyone know because I would hate for an issue that could be resolved be left until check out, as we always wish to make your stay the best possible. We always want our guests to be happy and enjoy their stay. When I made the comment about being able to come in and fix it before it broke or change rooms if we couldn't fix it, I did not have all the information on what happened with the toilet handle and when it happened. I do sincerely apologize for coming off as snippy. I did wish you a good day when I handed you your receipt, but will remember for future stays to explicitly express my gratitude for guests staying with us, as we do appreciate our guests choosing to stay at our hotel. I am sorry that you did not feel that we appreciated you as a guest. That is very disappointing to hear, and I hope you give us another shot. I hope this event does not stop you from staying with us in the future. We would love a second chance to make you happy. We appreciate the time you took to leave us feedback, and we will utilize this to enhance our guests' future experiences. Thank you for your stay, and we look forward to seeing you in the future. Cleanliness was good, pool area is small and not much room to sit and relax. Breakfast was below average (hot food was not hot enough) selection was poor, breakfast and lobby area is also small and confined. Strong fragrance smell in lobby area. (maybe burning incense?)

Clean, pleasant room. Nice breakfast; however, would prefer they offer real butter, not butter substitute. Thought my room was $89.00 but my bill says $102.14. Guess I should have asked for a receipt.

Eva F, Guest Relations Manager at Best Western Plover Hotel & Conference Center, responded to this review
Hello, Thank you for taking the time to submit a review. I am pleased to hear you enjoyed our room and breakfast, and thank you for your request about our butter option. Regarding the price difference, your bill was the amount after tax on the $89.99 rate, but we would be glad to email you a receipt if you give us a call! Thank you for your stay, and we look forward to seeing you again! Eva F

mfeuchtfamily, Mayville, Wisconsin, United States 27/11/2016

Stayed here with my 2 sisters for a sister's weekend. We were very happy with our room choice. We chose a 2 "room" family suite. Although there are 2 queen beds and also a king bed, there was only really one "Room". The king bed had it's own chair, dresser and t.v. but is not separated by a door or privacy curtain of any kind. Would be nice to have some sort of privacy curtain or something between sleeping areas. Also the walls were rather thin and we could hear outside traffic like semis entering and exiting the highway. Staff was very nice and let us use tables in breakfast area to play board games and to enjoy our takeout dinner we had ordered. Would stay here again if I was bringing a family and needed the Large room to fit everyone in.

The service was amazing. All employees were friendly and professional. The cleanliness of the whole hotel was impeccable. The in-room wifi was wonderful. I used the in-room refrigerator and microwave. Room temperature was easily adjusted to my comfort level. The fitness center treadmill was terrific. Location was excellent easy on and easy off the 4 lane.

Mikhail384230, Minneapolis, Minnesota 07/11/2016

I stayed here when my normal choices in Stevens Point were sold out. This is a new or renovated hotel and the rooms and common areas are great with comfortable new furniture. Also, I will say that the price was excellent given the features. However the property has a few issues and I probably would not stay there again if given the option. The internet was out of service and no remedy was offered. The walls, both interior and exterior, were thin and pretty noisy. Most surprising was that the water in the area is contaminated with nitrates and bottled water is provided for drinking. A fine solution, but could a filtration system be installed? It is good enough for a night or a rest stop, but there are better places in the area.

this hotel was conveniently located off of the highway, with a short drive to the supper club we chose to eat at. the booking was very easy using the Best Western App on my phone and reasonably priced. it was clean and the check-in clerk was very friendly. the bed was very comfortable and they offered breakfast. I would stay here again if returning to this area.

"Good clean hotel, a tad on the noisy side"

Jannaqq, milwaukee, wisconsin 29/10/2016

We stayed at the Best Western when the State track meet in Wisconsin Rapids had nearly every hotel sold out, including where we usually stay (Hampton Inn Plover). Overall, a great stay. Very new or remodeled hotel...easy checkin, everything clean and comfy and spacious with free wifi. This hotel offers one king bed in a larger room with a chair, desk, entertainment center; much bigger than the one-queen room at the Hampton Inn (we don't need a whirlpool in our room). We stayed in room 203. This room was at the end of the hall away from vending machines, etc, but directly across from the door to the stairs to the first floor. And the doors closing all night, from this one and others nearby, kept us awake most of the night. This is not unique to this hotel...just hoping hotels figure out how to make door closing quiet. And put a sign in the back of every door that says 'no running in the halls'. Next time would pick an even-numbered room to be on the side away from highway 54...lots of semi's seemed to use the neaby exit from I39. We did not see an elevator for this two-story hotel. The hotel offers shampoo but no conditioner (realized this a tad too late...after dousing my hair with what turned out to be body lotion). We stopped by their free hot breakfast about 30 minutes before the end time. Not sure I'd have the scrambled eggs again.

Pauline N, Superior, United States 29/10/2016

We had a very good night's sleep--the hotel is very clean, quiet. Not far from college town Stevens Point, Plover is a typical little Wisconsin country town and since we had business there it was nice to stay right there. All staff was friendly and helpful--our only disappointment was that the breakfast choices weren't very healthy. Oatmeal, whole grain breads, hard-boiled eggs (they offered only powdered scrambled), real butter instead of margarine, clean fruit would all have been nice. That said, the rest of the stay was exactly what we needed and we would gladly stay there again.

The hotel staff was really nice and offered recommendations for dinner in the area. The room I had was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the staff kept it tidy throughout my stay. I was only a 10 minute drive from my conference at the Holiday Inn.

"Beware the Pool"

Scott W, Woodbury, Minnesota 23/10/2016

We were in Stevens Point area to visit family. Check in went smoothly and young lady working counter was friendly and helpful. She provided advice on local eating establishments. Room appeared to be clean and was in fine shape. Later in evening I took my eight year old son down to pool. I jumped in and the water's odd taste on my lips caught my attention, but I didn't think much about it at the time. My son was diving down to bottom of pool and retrieving dive rings, which means he was swimming underwater with eyes open. I noticed him rubbing his eyes, and then within about ten minutes he told me his eyes were hurting. They already were red. By the time we were back to the room, he was in noticeable pain, and then started to cry. Mom flushed his eyes and within 15 minutes the pain began to subside. ( his eyes were red and puffy the next morning) We went to sleep and I awoke about 2AM. There was a strong unpleasant chemical smell. I thought at first it was the bedding, but realized it was my skin! The only conclusion was that it was the pool chemicals. I smelled my still wet swim suit, and it had that same awful smell. I took a long shower and thoroughly soaped up. I was then able to get back to sleep. We left the room next morning to check out - and walking down the main hotel hallway I smelled "that" smell again! (I also thought the bedding smelled weird. Was it the detergent this hotel uses?) I mentioned the whole story to the young man that was now working front desk. Let's put it this way, he was not exactly meant to be working a customer facing job (or just his mood that day??) Though he listened, there was no apology or any kind of empathy shown. I wonder if he ever passed along our concern about the pool to management or maintenance person. Note: About halfway into our stay, I noticed (in a not very visible location) a 3" x "8 placard in bathroom that stated water was not suitable for drinking because of excess nitrates. I think hotel should make it more clear to customers, up front, when checking in, of that. I had just happened to notice placard hours after our check in. The hotel did provide some bottles of drinking water in room fridge. Regarding the pool, it seems to me they are using a chlorine substitute. And perhaps the levels of whatever this chemical is, was way too high the night we were there.

hayward123, Northern USA 19/08/2016

My husband and I stayed here for a three day business trip. I loved the location as it was near all of the businesses I was visiting. I love the fact this place was new and very clean. The interesting thing is the elevator is only on one side of the long building (not the center) - this was a bit of a pain. Also, there is no parking in the back along one of the wings (it was closed off). Not sure what that was all about. Rooms are clean and big. Refrigerator and Microwave included. Nice pool area. Free Breakfast. The check in guy needs to be a bit more cheery but aside from that - thumbs up!

"Great place, better night service wanted"

travelingmanusa2016, Chicago, Illinois 23/07/2016

The room was beautiful..very clean and updated. Best hotel bed I have experienced, and a wide variety for continental breakfast! Wonderful place. The only problem I had was with one of the front desk patrons. The gentleman working overnight seemed to not care about us. We were not his priority and he was rude and made us feel like we didn't matter as much as other people because we checked in so late at night. If it were not for the morning workers having great service during breakfast and when we checked out, I would not be returning for fear of dealing with the night man again. Overall great hotel, needs work on customer service at night time.

This hotel has been freshly remodeled and it shows. It's gorgeous and the rooms are all fresh and nicely appointed. The bed was just as comfortable as the ones at the Hampton Inn nearby and the amenities were terrific. Large flat screen TV with cable, fast internet, hairdryer in the room, a thermostat on the wall that actually works, etc. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was fresh and delicious. Of course they had me at "biscuits and gravy", but there were many other options. The pool was clean, the office center was set up well and the location was perfect. This is my new Plover area hotel! The only problem I had was paying $143/night for ANY hotel in Plover, but this was the lowest option on the date I needed and the hotel was well worth it.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to the days when we can take the signs down about the water. The problem is cyclical due to the water tables and the amount of nitrates used by the local farmers. There has never been a danger to human health unless you are under 6 months old or pregnant. If you've ever eaten a hot dog, you probably consumed more nitrates than a glass of our water. I share everyone's concerns over clean water and hope that some of the new fertilizers that have much fewer nitrates will be used in the very near future. The room was updated and clean. I was surprised to see warnings regarding drinking the water above the sink and water fountains due to high levels of nitrates. They supply you with two bottles of water in the mini-fridge. I found the two front desk employees I interacted with during my stay to be unhelpful and unfriendly. Restaurant choices are extremely limited within walking distance. I would not stay at this location again.

"Nice hotel that costs too much with nothing around it"

3
bootleg711, Sun Prairie, Wisconsin 21/03/2016

I had a meeting in Plover, so I decided to drive up the night before since I live 2+ hours away. I found this place on tripadvisor, and while it is very clean, and gave me what I needed, I felt I WAY overpaid for what I got. Granted it has a hot tub and a pool, and a decent enough breakfast, but there is nothing around it. There's a bar across the highway (and a gas station), plus a run down family restaurant across the street...but I had to drive another 10 minutes to find a decent place to eat. Very disappointed with the location. Bed was good, pillows were not. Staff was very nice, very attentive, although I had a tax exempt cert (since this was for work) and was told my rate would change if I used it. This was not what I was told when I called a couple of days prior. Would I stay here again? Yes, but it won't be my first choice. This was an $82.00 hotel room (with tax) that should have been in the 65-70 dollar range (with tax)

General Manager... W, Front Office Manager at BEST WESTERN Plover Hotel & Conference Center, responded to this review
I don't often disagree with our guests, but from what I've seen at other hotels, our rooms are a steal at twice the price. As far as your tax exemption goes, we are simply following what the law requires. That exemption is a privilege for those that qualify for it, but too many that use it don't know the laws that apply. Thank you for sharing your opinion and I hope you do come back again. Sincerely, Larry Davis Front Desk Supervisor

I recently stayed at Best Western for a hunting trip and business. The owner and his staff were friendly and accommodating to our needs. Rooms were spacious, clean, modern and quiet. This is the 2nd time we stayed here for our club's annual banquet. It easy to make reservations, staff is polite, the beds are awesomely comfortable, the entire facility is clean, the pool is warm enough for us. Our favorite spot is the breakfast area where our friends gather in the evening. We get a little loud but the staff reminds us to keep it down in a nice way. Its a nice place to stay.

I really like this hotel, I have been traveling into that area 4 times in the last month and have stayed here every time, very clean, very nice beds, right off the interstate, rooms are very spacious all and all a very nice hotel would recommend to anyone, 3 of the times I have been here they have let me check in at noon so they really do go above and beyond for their customers

Excellent service. The staff are extremely friendly, the rooms are not only beautifully decorated, but spotless and well-maintained. The beds are phenomenal (sooooo comfy!!!) This is by far the best hotel I've stayed at for the price!

Wow! Thank you so much for this review and I'm so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We work hard to provide a safe, clean environment for everyone and with our competitive pricing, "it's a steal at twice the price". I'm not sure where I heard that one, but when I see other hotels that aren't nearly as nice as this one getting twice what we charge, I remember that quote. Anyway, thanks for staying with us and appreciating the great value a room here is. We look forward to your next visit. Sincerely, Larry Davis Front Desk Supervisor.

"More Than Satisfied With Plover WI Best Western Hotel & Service"

In Plover for a 3 day stay for a Family Wedding. Best Western was a very convenient location. The staff was friendly, the hotel was spic & span and nicely decorated as well as an excellent 'floor plan' for pool, breakfast location, and a lobby. The breakfast was excellent. The swimming pool hours were exceptional, allowing guests to enjoy the pool and hot tub around the scheduled wedding affairs. Very convenient to a kwik star 'gas & goodies' store across the street. We will stay again when visiting the area.

We were very pleased with the Best Western in Plover, WI. The staff was especially friendly and helpful. The facility was either remodeled or a new construction. The rooms were very nice and the beds were excellent! Since we were only traveling from one point to another we did not check out any near-by attractions. However, we did travel to Rudolph, WI to the visit a cheese factory. If you have an opportunity to taste and buy cheese made locally, I would recommend visiting Rudolph!

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with others here on this site. I am so glad that you found everything satisfactory and I hope you come see us again! Dairy State Cheese in Rudolph has been a landmark for some of the best cheese for many years and I'm glad you had the opportunity to visit them. If you're ever in the area again, I highly recommend Mullins Cheese in the town of Knowlton which is near Lake DuBay. They, too, have a great gift shop and awesome cheese. We look forward to your next visit to Central Wisconsin. Sincerely, Larry Davis Front Desk Supervisor

"Met all expectations...plus"

We've normally stayed at another property when visiting Wisconsin Rapids, but after checking reviews on this site decided to give the Best Western a try. It turned out to be a great decision from all aspects. Our suite was clean, quiet, and comfortable, with everything working as it should. For those concerned about the water...except for the signs and the bottled water (provided at no cost)...you would not be able to tell. My guess is that many rural properties have the same issue, but don't necessarily say anything. The real issue is that this hotel deals with it, making every effort to be sure their guests are safe. Breakfast was a step above the norm, although. We like our coffee a bit stonger ; <) We definitely will give this property a look next time we are in the area!

When we checked in my husband asked about the government discount. The front desk clerk told him it was too late to adjust the bill. Really!? The breakfast: The eggs were not fully cooked and the biscuits and gravy werec cold.

General Manager... W, Front Office Manager at BEST WESTERN Plover Hotel & Conference Center, responded to this review
I'm sorry that your stay with us didn't meet your expectations. It would help me if I knew the circumstances when you checked in because the government rate does not automatically apply in all situations. As far as the eggs go, they come to us precooked and are simply heated in the microwave. The only way the biscuits and gravy would have been cold is if the attendant forgot to turn the warming tray on, which could have happened, but it seems we would have had more people bring that to our attention. None of us can fix a problem unless we know about it and the time to address any problem is when you first discover it, that way we may have had a way to satisfy whatever you were disappointed with. Waiting days or weeks to complain about something never fixes anything. However, we will try to be more vigilant at breakfast to ensure that our guests get the best free breakfast in town. I have stayed here a few times now. My first stay: Fantastic - quiet, clean, comfortable beds. Midweek stay in a suite. Second stay: Ok. Room was clean, but the A/C unit loudly kicked on/off all night long. Made for a tired morning, but everything else was good. Third stay: Miserable. Lumpy bed. Most frustrating thing about this stay, it was mid-week and the hotel was basically empty. (only two cars in the parking lot all night, one of them was mine) In an almost empty hotel, our room was adjacent to another guest. (shared a wall) A VERY loud guest, who proceeded to get drunk and blare his television and talk on the phone until 4am, when he decided to start up his hot-tub. We heard everything he said and did. I am not sure if this was because of thin walls, or if this guy was just THAT loud. Now, I understand this hotel isn't at fault for this man's behavior at 4am. But why would this hotel, when there are 100's of rooms available, put us RIGHT next to each other, sharing a wall? Had they put a room or two between us, I might not have heard a peep. The wi-fi signal is great. There is a Kwik Trip gas station right across the street. Other than that there isn't much nearby, this hotel is a bit outside of town, but still close to the highway.

General Manager... W, Front Office Manager at BEST WESTERN Plover Hotel & Conference Center, responded to this review
I'm glad you enjoyed your first stay with us but am sorry to hear that your other stays were not the best, to say the least. I'm not sure how you may have had a room assigned right next to a jacuzzi suite if there were other rooms available because we try not to that on a regular basis. Was it a holiday, or the day after a holiday? There have been times when we have been slow that we give all the housekeepers the day off which limits the number of rooms available. I will certainly talk to my staff about trying to think like a guest when it comes to assigning rooms and maybe even ask the guest if their accommodations are satisfactory. We would have been glad to move you to a different room had you asked, but I also understand that it may have been too late to do that. Did you call the front desk to give them a chance to try to get the other guy to be quiet? Most of the time that helps, but I'm sure your night was already ruined, so my apologies. I hope your next stay is a perfect one. Sincerely, Larry Davis Front Desk Supervisor

My husband and I can rarely get away together, with him working three of four weekends. So when we do, we always stay at Best Western's because we are never disappointed and this hotel lived up (actually, exceeded) expectations. A last minute trip, the main Best Western line said no vacancies at this location but when we called the hotel directly, they accommodated us and even gave an upgrade for being told wrong information (a 2 Queen beds' room to a King whirlpool room!). Room was exceptionally clean, perfect temperature, the usual nice touches. For being very busy (there WAS a weekend conference of some sort going on), there was no noise and parking was ample. Probably the only downfall was being as busy as it was, the breakfast in the morning was pretty sparse and only one gentleman running ragged trying his best to keep things stocked, and nowhere to sit. Since breakfast is not a big issue for us (COFFEE is, lol) we were okay with what was there. Great job, BW Plover. We had a great weekend, and with lots to do in the area (Stevens Point just five minutes up the highway had a nice fair going on), it won't be our last visit! Kudos!
