Nymindegab Kro, BW Signature Collection

If you want to drive the magnificent Route 181 along Denmark's west coast, you'll find no better place to start than the small hamlet of Nymindegab. Perched on the side of this road is Nymindegab Kro, a quaint relic of a bygone age. The inn's restaurant offers breathtaking views of the dunes and the water. It serves dishes that put many of the highly vaunted, snobbish restaurants of Denmark's major cities to shame. We chose the evening's three-course menu. The first course was an original and exciting creation of three variations of tomato with olives and thyme. Each morsel was a pleasure. The main course was breast of maize-fed chicken cooked to perfection and served on a bed of baby carrots and peas - simple and unostentatious, but delicious. The dessert was a delightful concoction of strawberries, marzipan and lemon thyme. And all this for less than 500 kr, which would get you very little in Copenhagen.

We often eat out - currently live in Singapore but normally live in London and as such we have access to some of the worlds' best restaurants but this gem of a restaurant in tiny little Nymindegab turned out to be far superior to many of the fine dining experiences we have had in both London and Singapore. We chose the 5 course menu and every single dish was well balanced in its flavours, and beautifully presented. The prices were incredibly reasonable compared to the quality and high standards of the food. The waiters were attentive, personable and knowledgeable about both food and wine on the menus. And the decor and atmosphere of the restaurant was elegant and tasteful, oozing Scandinavian style at its best. Genuinely one of the best restaurant experiences I've had in a very long time! Highly recommend!

Tonight we had diner for two. The food was absolutely delicous. My wife is a vegetarian. We had a perfect diner.

Everything are good there. The service, the atmosphere and for all are the food so good and delicious.

We got two dishes, the main courses (cod and cockerel) and deserts, and all of them were very nice. This was accompanied of a very tasty Californian Chardonnay. The waiters were not fully up to the quality of the food. Very nice view from the restaurant.

"YES!" is as succinct and apt a way to summarize this spot as any. Try to arrange it that you eat dinner there at about 19.30 on a sunny summer dag when the sun is westering and it will seem like the whole of Jutland's western dunescape coast is laid open before you. Priceless! The food is very good, and the staff friendly and knowledgeable, and there is a shop to browse for local specialties.
